Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The hot tub nice and relaxing. Adirondack Inn is located on the near restaurants, the speed skating oval, Olympic Center and a short walk to to Lake Placid's main shopping area and more restaurants.
This hotel has been a favorite of mine for years now. It's still wonderful, but the parking is a little cramped with the amount of other guests that clearly enjoy this hotel as well. Great breakfast, the atmosphere is enjoyable. I love that it looks like one of the great camps, that adirondack theme is pleasing to the eye.
Hotel is just what we expected for an Adirondack Inn. Not new, but well-kept and great atmosphere. Location is center of town walking distance to everything. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Breakfast was great. Coming back next anniversary.
This hotel/motel is clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The linens are nice also plentiful. That said, it's difficult to find spots to plug in your chargers, the carpet is old and needs to be changed, the pillows are not good and the bathroom needs work, especially the shower. In its day this must have been a grand place. The dining room and furniture are nice and well crafted. The complimentary breakfast is comparable to what other chains are offering. The parking is abysmal and not easy to negotiate. Again, in its day it must have been something to see. But not now. Fortunately it is right across the street from the Olympic Arena & Museum and downtown is only a 10-15 minute walk away.
great location with lots to do and see.Right on the water with a nice beach walk. The breakfast that's included hit the spot and set us up for a great day of hiking. The swimming pool and hot tub was very private and easy to use. Family friendly!!!
Best Western = Best Location!!! If you visiting the area then BW Lake Placid is a must stay! Easy walk to downtown shops and restaurants and next door is world famous Pickled Pig BBQ with amazing world class chixken wings ! Easy access to Mirror Lake amenities- pool and spa area harken back to the golden age of wellness and relaxation. Only note of concern For some might be dated and while clean worn out decor in guest rooms and common areas..
We are weekend travelers with motorcycles. We look for hotels that offer at least. coffee in the morning. The breakfast was more than adequate for the price of stay.
The rooms/halls need updating but the staff made up for it. Very pleasant staff! The breakfast was good.
Staff helpful and friendly; breakfast was good; location was good, but a thoroughly cleaned room -- it wasn't (cereal between bed and nightstand from a prior guest, crevice tool is needed in corners to get the dust, not just a quick vacuum, ceilings need dusting to get the long dust strings/cobwebs, and an occasional bug spray/pest control would be helpful to take care of any bugs that may enter through the cracks and crevices from having an external door to the room.
I had booked two nights at this hotel months in advance for the 2024 solar eclipse. Because Lake Placid was in the Zone of Totality, I expected that the hotel and Lake Placid would be packed to the rafters. I was right. While the hotel was absolutely full, management and staff were able to handle the crush. We enjoyed the rustic, yet comfortable theme of the hotel decor. The breakfast room was clean and well stocked. The common areas were also clean and quiet. There were no unpleasant surprises. Given the crush of visitors to Lake Placid and this hotel in particular, that is worth recognizing.
Amazing stay in a great location, walking distance to main local amenities. Room was nice and clean Employees were wonderful, especially Jim the manager and Stan. Breakfast is everything you need. We cannot wait to stay there again. Thank you for great memories.
The rooms were clean, staff was great, very friendly. Steve was so friendly and lit a fire for us to enjoy each night in the. lobby. We were there for an ice skating competition weekend, that was held directly across the street at the Olympic Rinks. It was great to be right in town with all the restaurants with in walking distance.
Very clean, staff very friendly, lobby nice with Adirondack appeal. A little dated but we'll kept. Location very convenient to restaurants and short walk to Olympic facilities and downtown shopping. Walking loop around mirror lake very nice.
Reception area looked really nice but was spoilt by the Miserable guy behind the front desk, a hello and a smile wouldn't have hurt! Rooms were ok, you get what you pay for! Very noisy. Lots of choice for breakfast Breakfast. Was glad to leave!
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Best part of the stay. The breakfast was better than expected and a good assortment each day. The room was clean and location excellent. The rooms do need a renovation especially the bathrooms and windows/glass door.
This is one of our regular stops when heading for the East Coast. Clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, and much better than average hot & cold breakfast. One note- the 'accessible' room just has a regular tub, and the room is located at the very far end of the property. No internet signal in the room, and just a weak signal while standing in the parking lot..
Tired looking and in need of major renovations. Carpeting looked dated and dirty. Furniture outdated. Everything looked 20 years old and will used. No grab bars in bath and no shelves for shampoo and/or body wash. Would not stay here again.
This hotel was a disappointment. The king room booked as water view included more parking lot then water. Definitely a disappointment. Breakfast was also disappointing with prepackaged fruit cocktail cups & muffins. The atmosphere would not encourage me to recommend nor the fact we had only 2 towels & 3 washcloths.
This is an overpriced, tired old hotel in desperate need of updating. Pleasant staff. The area activities and shops are farther up the road nearer Lake Placid, not much around this property, except the Olympic museum. There is a great restaurant in front of the property - The Pickled Pig.
Annually we head up to the Lake Placid Youth Lacrosse Tournament and we will always stay at the Best Western. The staff is amazing, breakfast is great and location can't be beat. I highly recommend staying here.
Traveled with my son's hockey team. Hotel was very nice and quaint. Breakfast was good. The staff was wonderful. The rooms were decorated to fit the atmosphere of the town. Location was wonderful. Rooms were clean. Amenities were working well. Front desk was friendly.
Great location directly across from the Olympic ice rinks and Mirror Lake and toboggan run. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Included breakfast with varied choices, a great perk.
This hotel had every conceivable amenity you could ask for in a stay. From a comfortable bed in a clean room, a wonderful full breakfast in a beautiful space, a great pool, ping pong, warm afternoon cookies in front of a lit fire, to a welcoming staff. It is a great value for you money and as a bonus, a great location in Lake Placid!
Beautiful cozy hotel. Gives great cabin and mountain feel. Great, friendly, courteous staff. Clean rooms, clean lobby. Great hot tub and sauna. Breakfast was delicious, and perfectly laid out. Will definitely go back in the future
We love visiting Lake Placid. We usually goe 2-3 times a year. Unfortunately living in Montreal, Canada has made the last 3 years impossible to come down. We were so excited to come for 3 days. We were really excited to see the same people working as the management and the Breakfast room. It was truly like coming home for us. Everything was wonderful and we will be back again soo.
Expertly run by friendly and helpful staff. Built in the 60's but fits as a mountain lodge. So easy to get into the village and walkable. Olympic Training Center and Museum are right across the street. We arrived on the first Saturday in October and we're no aware there was an Octoberfest going on! Even though there were some revealers in town we didn't hear anything except the mountain wind at night. Highly recommend!
This BW Hotel has seen better days. While staffed with caring people who can only work with what they are given. Prime time for this hotel was probably in the 1990's. Our recent visit to Lake Placid Village found us in the middle of road construction and general updating of all the sidewalks and parking areas. No warnings from BW about this little important visitor item. Breakfast was very good with hot and cold food provided in a very clean and well organized manner. We did not get to use the pool nor exercise room but they were ready to go. Our room was large and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels and such. One complaint that may interest some was the TV system channel selections --Phooey. Internet was very good. While located in the Heart of Lake Placid and you will pay for that -- this is a overpriced two star hotel.
Tim was excellent in getting us the room we needed. The pool and spa area is excellent. One of the best pools we've experienced. The rooms are a bit dated but are clean and well laid out. Free parking is included. Complimentary water bottles are a real plus. Good complimentary breakfast is a real plus. Would stay here again
This was our favorite Lake Placid Hotel until about a decade ago when we noticed a decline in maintenance and overall upkeep. In August 2022 we thought we'd give it one last try, and we were impressed. From the friendly gentleman on the front desk to the spotless room and comfortable bed and great breakfast, this Hotel has it all, including a perfect location on the main drag. The log and wood trim add to its charm. It's once again our new favorite place in Lake Placid.
Stayed here while attending the 2022 Ironman event. Great place to stay, just a stones throw away from the Start and Finnish line. Mirror Lake public beach right behind motel. very clean, comfortable, outstanding customer service. I would stay again on next visit to the area.
This place was awesome and set on Mirror lake with a beach behind it to sit and have morning coffee. Across the street in the Olympic stadium. The location is walkable to the very cute downtown business district. One can walk around the whole Mirror lake in less than an hour with charming views. The staff along with room service was excellent and when I needed a clock they provided and batteries for the gym clock that needed it. I loved the pool, hot tub and sauna. Charming flowers in boxes greeted you when you can out of the balcony. Breakfast was included and had great variety, clean and had a big enough dining area for comfort. I have stayed here two years in a row and would stay again
Stayed here for the Lake Placid Half Marathon as most of the usual places were full and overpriced. Found this place to be exactly to my liking, much better than just adequate. Started out with excellent service from Matt, then checking in with delightful Kim with an unexpected welcome early check in. Place was clean, convenient, nice pool, food in a.m. Would and will absolutely stay here again.
The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The breakfast was good. The location was perfect for walking everywhere. The rooms and facility were very clean, but it needs updating +++. The rooms and foyer smelled very musty, the carpets were very, very old and dated.
Always a pleasant stay in Lake Placid. The staff is very attentive to the guests needs and they go out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay. Good location for walking to the shops and restaurants.
In town for the NCAA D-111 Frozen Four Tourney....so happy we stayed at the Best Western, perfect location to walk across the street to the rink or to hit many of the fabulous restaurants near by...staff was super nice as well.
My family and I had a great experience staying here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The pool and hot tub were great after skiing White Face. The location was perfect , walking distance to everything.
The price was right but the stay was even more enjoyable. The staff was warm and friendly. They shoveled my car upon my departure and made my stay more enjoyable than I had imagine. Would definitely stay again.
Great location, good breakfast. Super out dated This hotel is just as expensive as the surrounding hotels but does not put back into their establishment. Needs a complete overhaul. More than just countertops and a tub.
Our room was quiet. I did find a couple things in my room that makes me think they need to clean better a dirty mask and juice bottle. I love that they hav eve breakfast but would love some better opt
Disappointment.! I could've stayed across the street That's a Crowne Plaza for around $15 more a night the hotel originally was built in 1976 it has that feeling. I was quoted $167 a night and upon check out two nights later the bill step mysteriously came to $245 a night that is ridiculous for that room the hotel reminded me of a red roof inn with breakfast at $59 a night.
Hotel is situated across from the outdoor speed skating and hockey arena. Prime location. Warm and homey entry lounge with fireplace. Friendly staff provided us with the information needed for early bagged breakfast options that kept us socially distanced and nourished with quality foods and recognizable brands. Room accessed by stairs on second floor provided plenty of room for our family. Somehow we had a nearly silent experience with very little noise seeping in from the hallway or other rooms. That is noteworthy and commendable. The bed pillows were “just right”. Overall, a top-notch location in downtown Lake Placid, and clean and pleasant experience.
Overall it is a good price and great location. The breakfast was good, there just needs to be some renovations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again, As prices in Lake Placid can be expensive for hotels, when traveling with a large family this was great.
Hotel is very convenient to eateries and shops as well as the lake (walking distance for those with no disabilities). The hotel could use an upgrade, but it is a nice clean hotel and the workers take pride in making your stay enjoyable. The beds are comfortable and the balcony rooms are nice.
Amazing location if you're playing hockey in town. Literally you walk across the street to the rink. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms are dated, small but very neat. Lots of local restaurants have plenty of options. Beautiful outdoor patio/deck. Terrific dining area and they actually had breakfast!
Matt at the best western, went out of his way to make sure my family was checked in, and we had everything we needed. He was knowledgeable about the area. I can't possibly say enough good things. He made a two star hotel feel like a five star hotel. This is a great location for families, it's across the street from the lake, also across the street from the Olympic ice arena.
The room was very dirty and had a terrible odor. The amenities did not work. The breakfast was awful, small egg "patties" and stale fruit. Do not recommend. We paid over 600 for one night. It was the dirtiest and oldest hotel I have ever stayed in. The front desk was vacant the entire time.
We were disappointed with this Best Western. The room was not as clean as I expected. There was mold in the shower tile! There was a sliding door that was impossible to open! This hotel needs an update!
So nice to be in the center of town, with ease of parking and across from the lake (beach). The room we had offered a outside balcony, but what made it great was that it was a full length veranda so you could see the lake and walk to the end and see the beach too. We were surprised how calm and empty the breakfast area was, with so many places to enjoy. Both inside and out seating. The indoor pool was treat and the fitness center offered a good sweat for my wife and daughter. Walking up town from the lodge then down was perfect. FYI, the Olympic rings on the 1932 building that held the ice skating ( in renovation) was visable from the veranda too.
Great location... walking distance to great shopping, restaurants and attractions. Helpful and friendly staff. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. Decor of rooms was a little outdated, but they were clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.
We came to Lake Placid to hike a few high peaks. This hotel was a great place to relax and recover. Nice, clean pool area and hot tub! Considering Covid, the hot breakfast couldn't have been much better! Rooms were clean. Area around hotel was great, with a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
While the exterior of the building and the staff were good, the room which was pricey was in poor shape. One of the beds was broken and the room reeked of cigarettes and marijuana. That seemed like a basic necessity the hotel should have fixed before renting the room.
This hotel is part of our family tradition for years now. The check in staff was friendly, accommodating and efficient. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was cute, although not the traditional buffet style and family atmosphere we are used to with Best Western Adirondack. The only drawback was the closing of the pool and hot tub due to Covid-19.
Old and smelly, noise property, with limited service and high price for room in very old property with any update. Noise from upstairs is not acceptable at all , room was not clean. I think price is to high for limited service
I highly recommend this hotel as it is accessible to Mirror Lake, Main Street and just across the Olympic Museum. The hotel has ample amount of parking, the room is clean. You can never go wrong with this hotel as this is value for money.
I won't say don't stay here because there was nothing wrong with the room, and the location is nice. You can walk anywhere is Lake Placid. But, it's definitely not as nice as other Best Westerns and there are other hotels in the area of comparable quality for much less money. I probably won't stay there again.
Friendly efficient service.. Lady serving in the Breakfast Room was fantastic! Easy walk to everything in town and directly on walking trail around Mirror Lake. Will definitely stay her again during ski season.
Great location. Clean but very dated, needs to be refreshed. Did not know would not have an elevator. Only on second floor but very steep steps to navigate with luggage. Charge extra for a Wednesday night stay than for the Thursday night stay??
We spent the night while traveling through the Adirondacks. It was nice and clean and very convenient to walk around the town. The breakfast was limited due to the pandemic, but they did their best to give us a good meal. The elderly woman working the breakfast was very friendly and efficient. We were disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed. We saw on some previous reviews that it was open, but it wasn't when we were there. Overall, not a bad place to stay.
We stayed there from Sept19-21-2020.Did not stay for the second day. Price is too much for the type of room. The only good thing is it's in the center of the city.Other than that nothing else. Packed breakfast was terrible. Room are very dingy and dark. Could not stand any longer that we left on our second day. It's only good in ads but not in reality. Everything sucks..ewwwwwww
I stayed in this hotel during Labor Day weekend. Entrance is ok. Front staff Matt was very helpful. My room was on second floor. Very dirty carpet on stairs and room. As I entered the room old house kind of smell. Thankfully I had Lysol disinfectant spray that gives a little relief for the time being. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Outdoor balcony facing back parking lot. I stayed in room 227. Cars were kept on leaving and entering late night. It disturbed the sleep. Due to Covid, they asked you to fill the form for breakfast options. One tip, fill the form night before and give to front desk, otherwise long line and wait since only one person works in breakfast area. All food is cold and horrible. My family ended up having hot breakfast outside. Any how I don't recommend this place. Unfortunately I had no option left as I booked very late for this long weekend.
2nd floor room, has a balcony but it's an open balcony shared with all of 2nd floor. Great location, but tight parking. Other disappointments are due to COVID- pool closed and limited breakfast options.
Staff was nice. Easy check in. Called a restaurant for me to check their procedures while in these odd stages of Covid. as a contractor I was leaving at 6am every morning and they accommodated my breakfast needs amazingly. first day providing a bag of requests form the buffet ready for on my way out and then the rest of the week made sure the breakfast line up was well set up earlier than normal so I could grab from it before leaving. Unfortunately, the plant shut down and called it quits for my work and the manager was very understanding of the predicament since I didn't find out I no longer had work the rest of my stay out there at about 2:30pm. Well past the check out time. It may be just because they're not super busy these days but they didn't charge me for the late check out and I appreciate that a lot.
Perfect location accross from Olympic Center, and it's ann easy walk to downtown Main St. to do some shopping. Rooms clean and comfortable, and staff super friendly. I've stayed here two times and have not been disappointed. Great pool for the kids, also very clean.
As soon as you walk in you know you are in the Adirondacks with the fire in the lobby and cozy/rustic feel. The location is perfect. It is across from the olympic center and hockey rink, steps away from mirror lake and the toboggan run, and an easy walk into town. The staff were very nice and accomodating. I asked for several things at the front desk from toiletries to first aid items and they didn't hesitate and did not seem bothered but were happy to help. The continental breakfast was also very good and had many different options as we have gluten allergies in the family.
I stay at this hotel every time I go to Lake Placid. I love it there. It's conveniently located right in the middle of town, across the street from the Olympic Center and within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and Mirror Lake. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I sleep well every time. The interior is very cozy and charming. There are comfortable chairs by a roaring fire and many other coaches and seats to lounge in and socialize. There is a nice pool, a hot tub, steam rooms, and a gym. There's also a ping pong table. Maybe the best amenity is the breakfast. Far better than your standard hotel fare with a large variety of options including hot food like eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, oatmeal, etc. I definitly will continue to stay at the Adirondack Inn every time I am back in Lake Placid.
I have returned to this hotel multiple times over the years and am always glad when I do! It is conveniently located right across from the Olympic skating arena and just a short walk away from the heart of the downtown. The Adirondack Inn has the most personality of any hotel I've been to. The rooms have always been perfectly clean, but simultaneously manage to create a delightful homey-atmosphere. The staff is really friendly too and they even have a good continental breakfast. Highly recommend.
Only a 2 1/2 hour trip from Albany .You feel like your in a cozy getaway! With the crackling fireplace greeting you in the lobby and the friendly staff ready to direct you to your freshly cleaned room. You can spend your day using the hotel amenities or venture out as you are in the heart of town. I will definitely be going back!!
Staff is friendly breakfast is delicious convienent location rooms are clean and spacious easy walk to downtown shuttle is perfect for the trip to whiteface. During the summer golf course are super close.
You can park your car and walk to town, around the lake, or take free transportation to Whiteface across the street at Olympic Ice Arena. No need to drive, I Love This Place!!! Cozy warm and friendly, with an indoor pool hot tub and sauna...
Nice location across the street from the Olympic center. Dining and shopping within walking distance. Perfect location if you're main purpose is the Olympic Center. Right by the Lake. Great view of the mountains and Lake.
Extremely satisfied with stay. Staff was friendly and accommodating to hockey team! Highly recommend! Great location! Kids had a great time, from swimming, knee hockey, and hanging out! Staff was inviting and friendly to all. Great lobby area for parents to enjoy! Great location to rinks and downtown area! Fun weekend!!
We love to stay at the Best Western Adirondack Inn when we visit Lake Placid. The lobby is very cozy, especially with the fireplace and all the comfortable sofas, chairs and tables to play games. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are more modern and fancier places to stay in Lake Placid, but we always feel very welcomed here and enjoy our visit.
Best Western Adirondack Inn by the Lake is a laid-back, alpine-style, paid lodging facility in Lake Placid featuring 49 air-conditioned rooms with either a private balcony or a private patio. Room amenities include private bathrooms (shower/tub combination), a television, a refrigerator, an alarm clock, a coffee/tea maker, an iron with ironing board, a hair dryer, and bath products. Cribs and adjacent rooms are available. We stayed six nights in room 103 over the Christmas season for an average of $305 CDN a night. It had two queen-sized beds with quality linens, a dresser (four drawers), a table with two chairs, a floor lamp, and a nightstand. The room was reasonably comfortable and met our basic needs. Family owned, look for Best Western Adirondack Inn by the Lake at 2625 Main Street (roughly 10 miles from Whiteface). It was built in the 1940s or 1950s (the person at the front desk does not know) and is currently Lake Placid's oldest establishment providing accommodations, food, and drink to travellers. Check-in starts at 4:00 in the afternoon. Notable property amenities include wireless Internet access, an indoor pool (10:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night), a hot tub, a sauna, a games room, a business centre, a fitness centre, housekeeping service, meeting spaces, a seasonal shuttle, and free on-site parking (extremely tight for large vehicles). Note that the Internet is not very reliable. A free, daily, buffet breakfast (waffles, cereal, eggs, fruit, hash browns, sausage, bacon, yogurt, bagels, oatmeal, juice, pastries, etc.) is served between 7:00 and 10:00 in the morning. Check-out is 11:00 in the morning. Best Western Adirondack Inn by the Lake is a kid-friendly, smoke-free facility. Pets are not welcome.
All I'm going to say was that it was a total bust. My room looked old and almost degrading as we walked in. If you are planning to use the wifi don't worry about it considering half the time it is not even on and when it is on it didn't work. I did come for a hockey tournament and it was almost impossible to sleep. The hotel claims to have a 10pm no running in halls and 11pm in room but it isn't used and the hotel doesn't care. The walls are paper thin meaning that if the person in the room adjacent to you is even so talking that will be all you hear. The only upside is that it is across from the arena. If you are coming for the can an tournament and the free dinner you are going to have to take a 5 min walk straight up a hill to the crown plaza. I would also be mindful that you are not allowed to bring hockey sticks into the hotel which is horrible for a hockey advertised hotel during the winter. So you will have to find a place to put them which will take some organizing. The breakfast was ok as the food and bacon was very fatty and all of the cereal were worse knock offs of the real brand. Finally the pool was broken while I was there for half the time which goes to show an old hotel with old and bad facilities can't function with hockey teams unless they want an update and the game room consists of an old ping pong table with horrible rackets and balls. One last note the rooms may look welcoming in the photos but inside my room there was hair in some of the places in the room because of the old designing there are nooks and crannies allowing for stuff to get in places causing it to be almost impossible to get them and when the time comes for the ac to turn on whoosh our it goes. To summarize what I just explained just stay at the crown plaza if possible instead it is worth it. This hotel is too pricy for a motel.
The only thing to say is that this property is way overdue for an update. #1 -install an elevator. It's only 2-floors but having to hump suitcases and hockey bags upstairs is a major drag, especially for our "older" age group. #2 -The decor in both reception area, restaurant, and guest room is out of the 1970's, or so it seemed. Not up to par with any other Best Western I have ever stayed at. The only recommendation I could offer is that it is directly opposite the Lake Placid Olympic Arena, very convenient if you are playing hockey there.
Very convient hotel across the street from the conference center. My room was a bit on the small side and could use some updating. It was comfortable and worked well for me. The common areas are very inviting and the staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Having visited Lake Placid many times, we have found that the Best Western Adirondack Inn, a tthree star hotel, gives you the best value for your money. The rooms are spacious, off the 2nd floor a great view of Mirror Lake, a very good choice of breakfast and even a pool if you want to unwind after walking the town or local hiking trails.
We immensely enjoyed our weekend stay at the Best Western. Our room was quite large and very clean. The king sized bed was comfortable and gave us a couple of great nights of sleep. The breakfast food was good, and the staff was close at hand if you needed assistance. One of the best aspects of the Best Western Adirondack Inn is location, location, location! The Inn is directly across the street from the US Olympic Center. You can spend a full day touring the historic 1932 and 1980 Olympic Hockey rinks and the Olympic Museum. Sit down and watch "Miracle on Ice"---the entire remarkable 1980 game against the Russians is on video. The Inn is a short walk from the main shopping district in Lake Placid. The Best Western Adirondack Inn is a good value.
This is an older Best Western but it has lots of character. We were upgraded to a partial lake view room with a balcony. The room was spotless with a great shower head and shower even though the faucets were vintage. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet even though there were motorcycles everywhere at the hotel. If you bring your bike there are towels and washing areas. The Olympic ice venue is right across the street and it is within walking distance to many restaurants and activities in Lake Placid. The breakfast was great with omelettes and bacon as well as the normal BW buffet items. Parking is a little tight for larger vehicles but you can get a spot early and walk just about everywhere. They have a nice garden in the back for relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Comfortable beds, clean and excellent location. If you're interested in any of the Ironman distances, this hotel is across the street from the T-zone and has a backyard exit and entrance to the beach. Right across the street for the information centre and the Olympic hockey rink. The 1st floor rooms allow you to park your car by your room entrance and nice seats outside your door to lounge. A wonderful hot breakfast included. I noticed staff took a lot of pride in their work and it showed. Jim was very kind to book future rooms for us and was very helpful with our questions. Only downfall are: older building so not the most sound proof rooms, slow drain in bathtub and the hot tub could be cleaned as I notice a collection of grime on the floor when jets were off. Overall, I would highly recommend.
Upon arrival, the staff was great. Jim at the front desk was courteous and helpful. The breakfast crew were friendly and accommodating. The room was dated but super clean and comfortable. We used the hot tub and pool daily after motorcycling around the surrounding area. There is a bike wash and towels available. It is a short walk to downtown, and right across the street from the Olympic Museum. We used this location as a base from which to ride everyday. We walked every night to dinner and entertainment. We would stay here again. One glitch was the billing. I was quoted a daily price, but upon receiving the receipt, I see that the last 2 nights, a Wednesday and Thursday were more money. I have yet to call and question it, but I will. Ask for a complete daily breakdown.
The hotel is a bit older and dated but it is maintained and clean. There is a large breakfast area for the free breakfast. When we travel for weeks at a time we get sick and tired of eating out all the time so we usually try to make some of our meals in the hotel. The front desk staff let us cook our meals in the breakfast area and eat our dinner there too (microwave). But still this was very helpful as many hotels do not allow. The hotel is in walking distance of everything in Lake Placid downtown.
Arrived and were given an upgraded room and goody bag as a result of our gold status which is a nice touch and the staff were really friendly. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with a balcony you could sit on though the view was limited to that of the rear car park which was a shame. The hotel is in a fantastic location - you can cut through the car park and Mirror Lake is on the opposite side of the road and it is literally only a 5 minute walk to the main street which has all the shops, bars and restaurants on it. This is a really good affordable Lake Placid hotel and would recommend if in town for a few days.
Great reception staff, welcomed straight away as a Gold Member and offered an upgrade. Great parking outside. Room was very nice, with balcony which I was not expecting. Nice to catch a bit of sun in the morning. They also had outside seating and a fish pond which we took advantage of. You're slap bang in teh middle of town and spoiled for choice in terms of meals out and drinks etc. The Mirror Lake looked wonderful... shame it was too cold to swim in. Great breakfast (shame no bacon!!!). It woudl have been better and more in keeping with teh upmarket feel of this hotel to have china cups/plates. I hate polystyrene with a passion. Good recyling bins in the room which was nice to see. Only 1 complaint... the pool was freezing! The sauna was also not very warm.
The Adirondack inn may not be the shiniest of places but its got a great, friendly, accommodating staff. It's an awesome location - walk out back and you're just a few hundred feet from a little beach on Mirror lake, shopping and restaurants just up the road and since you're not centrally located, you're away from the busyness of main street. We go every June to run the LP 1/2 Marathon and stay here EVERY time!
We've stayed at several different hotels and 4 star resorts in Lake Placid and found the Best Western exceeding expectations. Accommodations and amenities are top notch. Staff were professional, courteous and go beyond to make sure guests are happy. If you stay while Gloria is working, you'll be in for a great breakfast experience. Will definitely be staying there again.
The hotel made out trip an excellent time. It was a pleasure to stay there and work with the staff. Everything was clean and and new. the breakfast was fantastic and the food was great. We will definitely be staying there again.
The Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Gloria, breakfast attendant, was very friendly! She cooked our breakfast to order for us when we were the only guests. Rooms were, Clean, clean, clean! Just steps from everything.
I stayed her for three nights for a CanAm Hockey Tournament. This is the closest hotel in Lake Placid to the 1932, and 1980s rinks which made things super convenient. Since my son needed to be at each game an hour early, he was able to walk over to the games an hour early, with his teammates and warm up. We were also able to walk over and watch all the other games at our leisure. The hotel is a little dated, but the place is clean and well taken care for. Also, the staff were super accommodating and nice. We stayed in the Queen Family Suite which was on the second floor, and in the front of the hotel. The room has sliding glass doors to three separate decks. We stayed at the hotel in the winter, so there were nobody hanging out in the common area outside which is directly outside our room. The hotel really knows how to treat families attending tournaments! They have several common areas where the families were able to gather and hangout. They also have an indoor pool which was very nice. The pool are was very clean, and taken care of. There is a free breakfast, which was very good, and bottomless coffee served all day and night. Would definitely stay here again.
Clean room and common areas. Convenient location...walking distance to all in town locations. Friendly staff providing tips on eats and things to do. All day fireplace! Nice buffet breakfast. All day Folgers coffee...hot and delicious. Would not hesitate to stay again.
This hotel is right across the street from the Olympic sports center. We were able to walk to dinner every night and walk to the shops nearby, approx 10 minute walk or less. The outdoor ice skating rink is across the street in walking distance. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Great selection for breakfast and everyone was able to find something they liked. The pool area looked nice and there was a small gym and ping pong table across from the pool. The hotel does not have an elevator so keep that in mind if staying here. The hotel was comfortable but did need some updates. Would definitely stay here again.
We chose this hotel because of the proximity to the skating center (across the street) and "downtown" (easy walk). It was worth the money to stay in a place that made the rest of our vacation walkable.
The staff here truly went above and beyond for our family. They allowed us an early check in and a late check out due to car trouble we were experiencing on our way out of town after a family ski trip to Whiteface. Kim and Mike at the front desk were so pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. They really helped turn our bad situation into a much more tolerable one. Thank you!!
The location is perfect, close to everything. The breakfast is beyond our expectation, lots of options. They even have whipping cream for the waffle! Kids love it. Overall we're very happy with the stay, highly recommended.
We came for a weekend away, our fourth time in Lake Placid together. The hotel is right near everything- extremely convenient and great for parking, because everything is short walking distance. The front desk man was very friendly and let us check in early after a long drive.Breakfast was decent, lots of choices! A basic buffet, where the woman maintaining is very hardworking. The interior, such as hallway carpets&decor could use updating- seems like you get less that you would for the same price other places. HOWEVER everything, especially The room was very clean! Pool and sauna clean, hot tub questionable- but shower in the room was great! Good pressure (couldn't stop water from escaping the too-short shower curtain though). The only thing that was an actual problem was the comfort of our bed. I woke up with a sore hip and aches all over. I would stay again, especially because they had rooms available at pretty short notice and were kind people! I would like to see some of the money made put back into the quality of the hotel, however.
We stayed here a week before Christmas and the hotel was quiet. Staff were always very friendly and quick to answer any questions.Breakfast was good and someone was always there to ask what hot items we would like. The breakfast didn't have hot items on display, due to few people staying during the week, but staff were always there fo offer hot items upon request. Usual cereal, granola, bagels, bread, yoghuts etc. were immediately available. The only noticable item was the dated look inside and out of the hotel. There are other more modern facilities in the area. However, based on cost, the modern ones had a higher nightly rate - as you would expect.Great stay overall - would recommend.
A great lodge in the midst of Lake Placid and all the Olympic attractions. Room was immaculately clean. Breakfast was amazing - great selection of hot and cold and great supply. Was offered upgarde to second floor because first floor rooms all open to outside and front desk was concerned about having to go outside to go to pool or breakfast. Staff was so nice! Highly recommend!
Hotel is directly across the street from Herb Brooks Arena / Olympic Museum. Large room but on the "tired" side and in need of a remodel. Nice to park right outside your door. Lobby and breakfast room area are excellent (great breakfast).
We only stayed one night to do some hiking. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and engaging. We were quite surprised by the breakfast buffet that is included in your stay - it was quite good - and the nice lady working there was so helpful! All in all a positive experience and we would definitely return.
We were just traveling through and made a reservation at this Best Western on their App. We were surprised at the location of this place, directly across the street from the Olympics center. But what we noticed immediately was that the owners workers really cared about us as customers. We also wish to tell the owners that this older BW is the BEST CARED FOR motel we have ever been in. While the rooms are smallish by today's standards, they are EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. Thank you. The comp breakfast was very good and presented well.
Excellent beds in a room good for sleeping. But no place to sit and read or work. Breakfast was OK, but not up to the standard we are accustomed to at Best Western. There was a fitness room, but some of the equipment was not in good condition.
stayed during september in a 2 queen bedroom the hotel staff is very freindly & helpful the recetionist was mike who gave us good tips about the area breakfast was exellent & the lady who was incharged kept filling the trays room was big & clean
I like the location and the style of building, very appealing. Enjoyed my staying. The lobby is old and renovation is a need to enlighten its entrance atmosphere and appearance. Breakfast menu needs to be reviewed to satisfy the customers. Hallway stair case handrails sticky need to be cleaned. New rugs with brighter colours will alert users of staircases and create a lighter hallway. Beds are very confortable and washroom have all the commodities and cleaned (5 stars for that). Did not use the swimming pool but it looks very clean and joyful.
My boyfriend and I recently took a trip up to the Adirondacks and stayed at the Best Western Adirondack Inn for three nights. We were definitely happy with our stay! The hotel room was very clean and offered all the amenities we wanted, and the staff from the receptionist to the people setting up the breakfast buffet were all extremely friendly. The outside of the hotel as well as the lobby area had the aesthetic of being in a mountain lodge, but the hotel room itself was a modern, standard hotel room (which was what I wanted). Having included continental breakfast was also a definite plus! It is also very centrally located, right across from the Olympic complex on one side, and right across from the Mirror Lake Beach on the other. I would definitely stay here again next time I go up to the Adirondacks and recommend it highly.
Locals know this Inn as the BEST WESTERN - use this if you are asking directions. The BEST WESTERN is on Main Street - the street of all the places a traveler need for restaurants, shopping, snacks. At Reception STAN helped us when we had problems with our credit card. STAN knew how to contact the people and clear our card. STAN saved our three days. The BEST WESTERN has included: parking, breakfast, pool, and other amusements for travelers. At Breakfast GLORIA is most helpful in meeting breakfast needs to insure your breakfast - from a daily established breakfast - that can meet your dietary needs. GLORIA is a local and knows where everything is in Lake Placid and is so friendly. Housekeeping keeps everything clean and presentable. The BEST WESTERN is an older property but everything works, the place is extremely clean, and the beds are so comfortable. AS AN ADDED ATTRACTION - in the summer if you stay here you can walk out the back of the Inn to the free beach at Mirror Lake.
I spent the holiday weekend in Lake Placid and stayed at the Best Western. I enjoyed the log cabin vibe of the hotel. The staff was amazing and the breakfast was great for a hotel breakfast Haha. If you are visiting the area and debating on a hotel I recommend visiting. Also conveniently located becide the Olympic museum/ center
Great place to stay. Very clean and friendly and close to everything. Rooms were really nice and well kept!! Staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good as well.
Spent 2 nights at the Best Western while visiting Lake Placid. The location of the hotel is perfect as you can walk right across the street to the Olympic Center as well as into town. It's an older hotel than can use a little updating, but it's charming with a lovely breakfast area, front deck, fabulous indoor pool and a short walk to Mirror Lake. Employees are friendly and helpful. The gentleman at the front desk ( I think his name is Stan) was very nice and gave suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to go to. The woman taking care of the breakfast area was hard working and kept the food selections well stocked. Our 1 st floor room was spacious and we parked our car right in front of the room. Pleasant 2 night stay!
This was our first trip to Lake Placid, and we really enjoyed our stay! The location of the hotel cannot be beat. It is directly across the street from The Herb Brooks Arena, and right next to the main shopping area. Mirror Lake is also across the street, and there is access to the beachfront if that is what you are looking for. The staff we encountered was incredible. The guy who checked us in couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The woman who worked the breakfast area was very thoughtful and kind. The room we stayed in was on the first floor, toward the back of the hotel. It was a clean room and it was very quiet. The wi fi was spotty at times, but I think it was just during the evening when there were more guests in the hotel. The breakfast had a nice selection of foods which kept everyone in my family happy. I would definitely stay here again!
This was our second stay here and just like last year we were very happy with the room and the staff are wonderful. Good breakfast. Great location. Our go-to accommodations whenever we come to Lake Placid.
If you are attending events across the street at the Olympic Center, the location of this establishment cannot be beat. You are just across the street from the athletes entrance for the 1980 rink. The staff is super friendly and attentive to guest requests. However, there are some issues. As usual, whatever level my daughter is competing in skating gets the short end of the stick in terms of scheduling. I was beyond unhappy to learn that her events overlapped with the Ironman which meant including taxes, our room for our first night cost $354.68. By no means, under any circumstances, was our room worth that much money. Even the rate of $189.80 (including taxes) for the rest of our stay seemed steep but understandable since Lake Placid is a resort town and it is the middle of one of their peak seasons. While housekeeping does their best to keep things clean, the carpets in our room were beyond filthy and I had to request that they be cleaned after our first night. Brand new white socks were black on the bottom within 5 minutes and going barefoot was not an option. Whomever was in the room before us left black grease on the carpet and by the entry, the dirt was simply ground into the carpeting. Cleaning the carpets did little to help and our room remained damp throughout the rest of our stay. While the water pressure was good, the shower curtain did not keep water inside the shower so we had water all over the bathroom until I figured out a way to MacGyver the situation using a clothespin and two washcloths. Towels were thin and scratchy but the beds were comfortable. We also seemed to be in a location where people wanted to congregate just outside our door so there was a lot of noise outside until 11 or so at night, every night, despite the pouring rain during our stay. In addition, no one was observing the 50 foot ban on smoking from buildings and they were smoking right outside our room which was being sucked into the air conditioner and into our room. The rate included breakfast which consisted of a few hot items, some cereals, waffles, pastries, yogurts, breads and defrosted frozen fruit. The fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples) was not replenished at all during our stay. I was glad we had brought bananas from home as my daughter uses them for refueling during competition. I wish the eggs did not have ham mixed into them as I do not eat ham. Thankfully, there were hard boiled eggs as well for a protein choice. The kids enjoyed using the swimming pool on their last evening which was fun for them. Be aware that there are numerous rules which might be difficult for a family, including that there must be two adults present, one of whom stays on the pool deck the entire time. Overall, I most likely will return to this property as the location could not be better for our purposes. The staff are super responsive to issues and friendly. Still, for the price paid (more than I spent for a five star location in another resort town for that first night), it did not meet my expectations in terms of cleanliness and usability.
I spent a week in this hotel with my wife in order to prepare Ironman LP. As the previous years the experience was great and I recommend to stay in this property for his location and the professionalism of the staff. However, it's time to renovate the rooms.
The Adirondack Inn was recommended by my in-laws who had stayed there previously while on vacation at Lake Placid. We took their advice, not realizing how incredibly perfect a location it was for the Ironman event. Be aware, if you stay here for Lake Placid, it will cost you a pretty penny, and you will be expected to stay for five nights. If you can afford it, it is the way to go. We stayed from Wednesday to check out on Monday morning, with the race being on Sunday. We were originally assigned to the second floor, but I was able to get it switched to the first floor. Be aware, there is no elevator, so if you need to keep a bicycle in the room, plan on carrying it up and down stairs if you aren't on the first floor. It may be a good idea to request this ahead of time. I got lucky. I did see a woman nearly trip down the stairs carrying her bike down for a training ride. The first impression you will have is how perfect this location is for Ironman. You can go out the back gate, cross a street, head down a hill, and you are at the beach of the swim start. It's a two-minute walk out the door. If you want to head to transition, just go the other direction, cross Main Street, and you're within maybe a tenth of a mile. You are pretty close to the middle of the business district, so most if not all dining and entertainment options are within walking distance. Don't get me wrong - you might get tired out with all the walking up and down hills - you are in the Adirondacks, after all. We had to trade a room with a king bed for a two double-bed room in order to get moved down to the first floor. That was fine with us. The room is spacious enough and has an in-room fridge. Housekeeping was cordial, helpful, and kept the room clean. The bed was comfortable, and the town was quiet enough at night (except on race day of course, but we were part of that noise at times!) One thing I noticed is that the TV remote was in a sealed bag labeled "fresh remote." This impressed me since I had just seen an article about the remote being the germiest item in a hotel room. Well, we didn't watch TV, so the remote is still fresh. We did spend a lot of time on the Internet, and here is my biggest criticism of BW Adirondack Inn - the WiFi is spotty. It would connect and disconnect all the time, and was often unusable. I actually ran out of data on my mobile phone because the WiFi was out so often. There were a lot of reasons I needed Internet before the race - checking the weather, checking in with friends and family, re-reading the athlete's guide, checking maps, and on and on. I suspect that all of the athletes were doing the same thing, and maybe that stressed the hotel's WiFi capacity, but they may want to look into upgrading it. The complimentary breakfast is excellent. There are at least three hot items each morning - an egg dish, a breakfast meat, and hash browns. There was at least some variation each day, though these themes held constant. They also had a waffle maker, cereal options, and an assortment of bakery items. I got addicted to their coffee cake. Each morning we were there, Grace was taking care of us, and I was so impressed with how attentive she was. The breakfast is ordinarily available at 7 AM, but on race day, they opened at 5 AM, and Grace was there being as helpful as always, giving updates on when popular items were ready. The front desk staff was also very pleasant and went out of the way for us, even helping me with a few assorted needs before the race. The hotel has a small pool that I suppose you could do laps in. If the weather allows it, you will enjoy the public beach on Mirror Lake right behind the hotel. There is an exercise room (and a ping pong table, cool!), but I did not use it. Obviously, outside running and biking are popular in this town, but be ready for the hills. In summary, this is the hotel to be at if you are doing Ironman Lake Placid, but be ready to pay for it, and try to get a room on the first floor. I doubt I'll do this again, but regardless, I would love to return as just a plain ole tourist. I am told it is not quite so pricey at other times of year.
I was in town for my daughters wedding. Lake Placid parking is terrible so this hotel was perfect as it was within a ten minute walk to the venue. It was comfortable and clean with a good breakfast. They put a playpen in the room for my granddaughter which was helpful.
Location was great as it was a little off the main strip, but everything within walking distance. Great view of the mountains. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was varied-very good. Not the most modern-looking, but everything was clean-rooms to lobby to pool. We didn't like the disposable plates, cutlery and glasses for breakfast. So much garbage created every day, unfortunately. Hope this changes. Overall, a very good experience.
Great location, ice rink, beach, playground all within 5 minute walk from the hotel. Complimentary breakfast was good, different options each day. Rooms were nice and the staff was always pleasant from the housekeepers in the hallway to front desk staff and the lovely lady who ran the breakfast service.
The room was clean when we got there. Housekeeping must have been understaffed because our room never got cleaned and we were there for four nights. We left daily for at least 8 hours. We had to call daily for them to take our trash and give fresh towels, etc. The pool was great to have access to. The lobby was beautiful but very messy. The trash cans were constantly full. The person in charge of breakfast did a good job keeping us with demands. I appreciated the nightly movies for kids. The hotel is beautiful and location great. I hope they were just having a bad week.
Very nice staff and very accommadating. Its a beautiful area with a lot to see and do. We had a wonderful visit and enjoyed our time at the Best Western The continental breakfast was very good. They even had someone picking up your dishes
The place was inexpensive but the place was very dated. Not too dirty but everything seemed worn and the air smelled stale in our room. One end of the hotel was towards the water but practically none of the rooms had a water view at all. But the location allowed for easy walks to all the shops and restaurants in town.
Was assigned a room middle top floor of hotel, everything vibrated while they were running the washers. Then moved to a room overlooking Main St. Great view until the BBQ restaurant below fires up the grill and you breath in smoke for hours. Hotel needs an extensive updating, I felt like I went back in time to 1975. Next time we will be staying at one of the newer more modern hotels.
This property is very well located in Lake Placid. My wife and I booked it as part of a holiday trip. The exterior of the hotel is fairly clean and is of a log finish. Parking is fairly good. The front lobby is a little small, but the breakfast area is huge. The front desk staff are excellent. The room is a little dated and small, but clean and comfortable. The bed is great. Internet was good. The included breakfast was excellent, as was the breakfast room service. It is close to a number of great restaurants. There were two issues that were annoying but minor. First, there was no microwave. Second, there was a severe shortage of available power outlets in the room. Both of these issues are easily fixable. Given the positives, I would definitely stay here again.
Yes our room was large, 2 queen size beds. Bit it was dated and needs total redecorating and updating. Bathroom fittings are of the lower IE cheaper end of the market. Fan in the bathroom is like a jumbo jet taking off. This hotel STILL uses one use products for coffee etc in the rooms. Breakfast is a disappointment. Again one use utensils, plates cups etc all round. We are adults! Choice was limited and quality quite poor. Staff however were brilliant, especially the lady who booked us in. There is also a fantastic pool, gym, jacuzzi and sauna available. The location is fabulous, right in the centre of town, opposite the skating rink and you can see the ski jump. Not many hotels can boast that. However if I visited the again I think I would look elsewhere.
We stayed here two nights during the Division Three NCAA Hockey Finals. The hotel is right across the street from the ice rink. They served a great breakfast. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There were a lot of hockey teams staying there; people with entitled attitudes who had no idea how to be parents to out of control boys. Knocking on doors in the middle of the night, loud unruly behavior, hockey equipment all over the lobby presenting trip hazards, people acting like vultures at breakfast taking all of the food before anyone else could get a single serving. We won't stay here again during hockey season. Also, the parking was awful.
it wasn't a bad hotel, the staff was very sweet, especially mike!! he was amazing, very very sweet. the only problem was we had a do not disturb sign on the door from the time we went to bed to the time we woke up and the house keeper were to lazy to acknowledge our room. but overall it wasn't bad.
We recently stayed at the Adirondack Inn because my son played a hockey tournament and this hotel was included in the package. I am giving the hotel three stars because it is in a great location that is close to the arena and the town for shopping. In terms of my accommodations, they were lacking. It was below 0 degrees outside and the heat in our room did not work. The room never got warmer than 64 degrees. Needless to say in the evening the room was freezing. The rooms are also very dated. You can see cracks and the overall worn down look of the room very easily. The Crown Plaza is a block away and from what I hear, A LOT nicer. I don't think I will be back to this hotel.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying here... the pool and jacuzzi were all to us we were hoping to ride the tobaggan chute but it was closed on weekdays we stayed in one of their motel style rooms so it was a little chilly after the pool going back to the room but for the cheapest room they had it was very clean and the parking was perfect no long walks with luggage
Great staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. Location is great!! We needed to be close to the ice rink and long track it was perfect for our trip. We could just park and walk around the town. Would stay here again.
The Location is good. Almost Directly across from the Olympic Center… a short walk to shops and restaurants….Back gate leads to the City Beach and Toboggan run ,,,The Price was great, Inside Pool , Hot tub….Very relaxing lobby ( Rustic) … This is not a new Hotel , It has the Charm of a Rustic Mtn… Home….And Breakfast.
Just returned from a long weekend for a hockey trip and stayed here with the teams. This hotel is OLD to say the least. Although the location is very convenient I would stay elsewhere next time. The tub had what we were assuming to be some kind of mold in the grout and a heat lamp that didn't turn off when turned on. There is not enough parking so we had to park on a side street one night when returning and walk to the hotel. It is time for an overhaul
We went to Lake Placid for NYE with my family and liked it so much that we decided to return a few weeks later and decided to book at the Best Western. The hotel staff was very accommodating and provided us with a welcome goodie bag at arrival because we are Best Western members. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Decor is a little dated. The breakfast was good and the hot tub and pool were very nice after a very cold day skiing. The location is excellent and everything is walkable. We will definitely return in the future!
Fantastic place to stay for Christmas. Nice heated pool to relax after spending the day in the snow. Close to Mirror lake, park, and food. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Rooms were huge and well heated.
It was pretty cold (-21 on Sunday morning!) during this trip. Hockey tournament trip, so the hotel was filled with youth hockey parents and kids. The hotel handled it well. Breakfast was fine. Plenty of hot water with amazing pressure. Bathroom had a fan, so that's cool. Could have used some hooks to hang up the many layers we had to peel off. Parking lot was cramped when filled with big SUVs and snow piles.
Located directly across from town center, was perfect for visiting Olympic sites and walking around town. This was great because we were able to spend time outside and then stop back at the room to warm up before venturing out to our next activity.
Very convenient place to stay in Lake Placid. Immediately adjacent to Trailways bus stop. Huge complimentary breakfast. Comfortable double beds On the edge of Mirror Lake. TV and coffee maker worked fine.
This hotel was not great! It was full of youth hockey team families (which I have no issue with) that were incredibly noisy. I got maybe an hour sleep since the noise went on all night and the front desk seemed to do little about it. Also our room wasn't that clean.... there were hair ties and garbage in the corners!
We are returning guests to this hotel. We love the location, the staff members are exceptional, the indoor pool is great after a day of skiing. Our favorite hotel in LP! We did have an issue with the cleanliness of our room this trip, but it appropriately addressed by the staff.
Very Comfortable. Walk to dinner in town. Very Good Value. Have stayed here for ski weekend for past 10 years. A little outdated, but clean and comfortable. Will return next year. Needs new fitness equipment.
We had an amazing stay!!! The location was perfect and directly across from the ice rinks and walking distance up Main Street to the shops and restaurants. Rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated and the price was right!! Kids had plenty to do with the pool and ping pong table and the adults enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. Lobby was done in a beautiful rustic decor and there is even a fire place to sit by. Best part of the stay was the staff. They were friendly, courteous, accommodating, patient (hockey team with 9 & 10 year olds), and funny. This will be our preferred hotel in Lake Placid!!!
Jennifer checked us in and was very nice and helpful. Told us where to find the pool and breakfast area. Rooms were a nice size. Bed was very comfy. There was a fridge in our room and ice machine very close by. We were within walking distance to everything.
The common areas were very nice, fireplace in the main sitting area, nice deck but our room was definitely shabby. Quiet, good bed, great shower. So-so clean. Not able to access wifi and the person at the front desk was not surprised and couldn't help me so wifi apparently often not available. Very mediocre but right in town and easy walk to restaurants.
breakfast staff were amazing, friendly, and very accommodating for our young hockey players and parents. The food for breakfast was good and plentiful. The working fireplace was a nice touch. Location to all the ice rinks was perfect just walk across the street
The Best Western Hotel and Resort in Lake Placid NY is one of the best. It is very clean, The staff pleasant and helpful. A decent breakfast with the usual selection of breakfast items, served in a specious dinning hall. The room was a bit tight but not unusually so. Lake Placid has a lot to offer and we enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful hotel featuring large rooms (many with views of either Mirror Lake or historic 1932 & 1980 Olympic rinks). The common area lounge and breakfast rooms are the largest of any BW I have visited and the breakfast was world-class. The location is mere steps to Mirror Lake, Olympic village and on Main street where the restaurants & shops are plentiful. Outstanding experience.
Great place to stay deff hidden Gem in Placid. When we arrived the front end manager I believe his name was Robert was more than accommodating and friendly. The hotel was super clean and inviting. Breakfast was great and the lady that was working really made my day she was friendly helpful and kind and went out of her way to help. Noticed an extremely rude customer being way out of line and didn't miss a beat continued on with her work all with a smile. Thanks for starting the day off great!!! Only complaint would be to open the pool spa area before 10 am as we would have like to use in morning.
I visited for a convention, and there was no easier place to stay than here. I only had to walk across the street for my meetings, and never had to move the car! The rooms are fine, obviously it is not the Mirror Lake Inn, but it is reasonably priced and the staff was very helpful. The views are very nice of the mountains, and the wifi is what I needed
Stayed the one night at this hotel in September and was happy that it was only the one night. Location was fine however the room was tired and really very dated. Could do with a makeover and update. The redeeming factor was the inclusive continental breakfast.
Close to Olympic areas and walk to town. Clean, great pool and friendly staff. Easy drive to other Olympic venues. The reception area is large with fireplace and comfortable seating. Gladly gave us a late checkout.
This hotel was convenient and lobby personnel was pleasant enough. Room, however reminded me of places about 30 or more years ago. Bath vanity was just tall enuf for 5-year old and back-breaking for adult. Bath/shower had black moldy spots. Room overall was quite dated. Thought it was overpriced for what we got.
We enjoyed our stay. Our room, bed and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful to point out places of interest and good restaurants. The hotel offers an indoor pool, continental breakfast, exercise room and game area. We loved the lodge experience. Beautiful and spacious.
Great place for a mini vacation. This Best Western is centrally located with lots of restaurants, bars and stores within walking distance. Great scenery, walking trails and parks within short driving distances. Only negative, our bathroom needed a new shower head
We had a two night stay here, on the plus side it was within walking distance of restaurants, shops etc. Nice indoor pool & breakfast was quite good. On the negative side, the room was dowdy, in need of decorating & updating, though the bed was comfy. We were on floor level & it sounded like the person above was running a marathon from 5.30am & again in the evening. On both mornings & evenings a coach parked outside our room with its engine running for over an hour from 6a.m. Very annoying & we couldn't have got off the car park without asking the driver to move. We did register our annoyance at reception. The room didn't match the quality of photographs on the website, would choose to stay here again.
I stayed here coming through Lake Placid. The outside looks better than the inside room-wise. The outside patios are common, so someone can walk the length of it and look in all the rooms if the curtains are not drawn. Nothing is really that bad but nothing to rave about either. The lock was broke on my patio door of room 244, so make sure to put the side-rod down to block someone opening your patio door! The hotel clerk Kim was very nice and helpful in pointing out places to eat in town and suggesting things to do. She is so far the ONLY one to give me my complementary bag of water and granola bars (BW Fall Promo for Gold Members that the one in Montreal actually took away my points for when I inquired where I could get water) in all the BW hotels I have stayed at, so she's more honest and professional than most BW clerks. The breakfast wasn't as good as some BW that make you a custom omelette (there again is an example of how different BW operate from each other), but you can go to the Breakfast Club restaurant in town. I have to say the price charged is a little too high (especially compared with the Hilton Hampton Inn that has a newer more modern place and atmosphere - and lower rate) for how old and tired this place looks.
Enjoyed a pleasant stay at BW Adirondack Inn. Location was excellent for walking to restaurants, shops and other activities. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Overall stay was very enjoyable.
If there had been a good rating I would have used that as it is more good than average but to my mind not actually very good. Good location as walking distance to restaurants and bars. Also Mirror Lake just accessible through the back gate which is great to run around if you like jogging or walking 2.7 miles I was told. The breakfast is your usual motel breakfast served in a nice setting and staff very friendly. Reception check in was again very friendly and welcoming. Wifi was dreadful and kept dropping out. The room was very dated and especially the bathroom which was very scuffed. The sink area was very low and the towels were really thin and small. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Having said all this we did elect to stay for a second night so not that bad obviously but I didn't feel it warranted a very good but it's a bit more than average. If I ever went to Lake Placid again I would probably try somewhere else but unfortunately I doubt I will return.
This was the only room we could get for a weekend that looked halfway decent. As it turned out, we were very happy with the entire place. We were on bottom floor, room 109. Motel was very quiet, I never heard any kind of noise from other rooms at all. Our room was a very comfortable size and nicely appointed. Since the parking lot was right outside the door, it was great to have the option of sheer curtains along with the heavier ones to close for privacy that didn't make the room totally dark during the day. Good shower, overall very clean. The beds were heavenly! Clean, white comforters and such comfy mattresses! The common area near the office is cozy and warm. There's outdoor deck space, a huge breakfast room (breakfast included with room), and very clean pool, hot tub, and exercise room downstairs. There is an outdoor sitting area with a koi pond, and right across the street is the lake and beach. Everyone working there was extremely polite and friendly. Would highly recommend this Best Western and would stay there again.
This was a very beautiful hotel both inside and out. Breakfast was amazing for the value with a wide variety of items to choose from. The staff was great and very helpful. They were both professional yet very friendly. This place was easy walking distances from shops, sights and restaurants. If you have not eaten at Smoke Signals please experience that adventure. It was recommended to us and we ate there twice. Sooooo good! The hotel has an indoor pool which is great for families too. A post office is close and the Olympic complex is right across the street. You just can't beat the value but book ahead!
Very clean room, nice attention to detail. Only stayed one night so did not use amenities, pool looked immaculate! Exercise room appeared lacking but they warned us. Free breakfast was adequate with great service. We had king room in the front with 2 nice patio doors and balconies. Price was good! Outside areas much in need of updating though. Only other complaint was bathroom was way too small, I'd rather have a smaller room with more accessible bathroom. Overall very good though.
We stayed here for a family wedding. It was centrally located. Walking distance to all the venues. (although we had to drive due to the weather) Near shopping, dining, entertainment, activities... We will definitely stay there again.
Great location of the hotel. Near everything, walking distance from many restaurant and village. I recommand the hotel. Rooms are clean and service is good. Wifi is accesible. Breakfast was good. If I go back to lake placid, I will go back to this hotel
My husband and I were planning a day trip to Lake Placid to cheer friends during the half Ironman, but decided last minute to try to stay over the night before. There were a few hotels with last minute availability, but this one had the best room (1 king bed), best location, and the best rate! We didn't realize how lucky we were until we walked 60 seconds out the back parking area to spectate the swim. We arrived very late on Saturday night and I worried parking would be full, but it wasn't - and a staff member even volunteered to move his vehicle so we could use the overflow lot if necessary! We especially appreciated the on-site coffee/tea, mini fridge in the room, and continental breakfast - which was offered 2 hours earlier than usual in consideration of the triathlon. The doors/walls aren't the most soundproof, but completely adequate. I awoke early to the sound of guests talking and bustling about, but I think that had little to do with the hotel - it was because the triathletes staying there were awake, energized, and on the move (and who could hold that against them?!)
Hotel was perfect for Ironman. Across the street from swim. Parking is tight but manageable and the hotel has a great big lobby for meeting friends and family or just hanging out. We have stayed their a few times and the hotel is located in the center of everything.
Met by a friendly staff member who supplied us with our rooms and was very helpful with our registration, where our rooms were and where to park our motorcycles. Our room was everything that we could have wanted. We were on the bottom floor with chairs outside for sitting. We could visit with our traveling companions and keep good watch over our motorcycles.
We spent two nights here while in town for a wedding. The rate was very reasonable in comparison to other hotels in Lake Placid. The rooms are nothing special but it is definitely clean and comfortable. The decor certainly feels like a cozy weekend in the mountains. I didn't deal with many staff members, but everyone we did encounter was friendly and accommodating, especially at breakfast each morning. The location is great as well. We did not have much free time but there is a good amount of places in walking distance.
Our family went to Lake Placid to support one of our members who was participating in the Ironman Triathlon. We chose the Adirondack because it provided the absolute best location for our athlete. He was able to sign in and return to his room and stay warm and dry before the beginning of the swim. He was also able to walk to his room (yes, he was assisted a bit by his brother) after the race. All the roads close for the duration of the triathlon so if you are not staying close to the end, it can be a very painful walk at the end. The bonus was for the family. We were able to see the beginning of the swim, go back to the room for a morning coffee and still catch the beginning and end of the second lap. We also sat on the hotel's step to watch the beginning of the bike section. At the end it was not a long walk to the finish and we were all there for our Ironman. Everything else at the hotel, accommodation, breakfast, pool, fitness facilities, reading spots and picnic areas were very good.
Hotel room was very clean and staff very efficient and friendly. Hotel is on Main Street and it is a wonderful town to explore. Lots of restaurant options within walking distance of the hotel. Adequate off street parking and great views.
We did not have a reservation. Staff was accommodating finding us a room. Gave tips on things to see and do in the area. Gave a great recommendation where to eat with decent prices. Was so good it was only place we ate.
Wow! This place is straight out of a ski weekend 80's movie: Not a bad thing necessarily. The rooms need some updating, especially the bathrooms, but the rooms were very clean. I check every hotel we stay in thoroughly for bedbugs: This place gets my bedbug free approval! This place has been well kept since, what I assume were its heydays, in the 1980's. The decor still feels like a 1980's lodge. The second-floor rooms have vaulted ceilings and shared balcony access, outfitted with Adirondack chairs. Rooms in the front of the hotel have a street view. Rooms towards the very back on the second level have a small lake view. The lady who checked us in was very kind. We arrived a little early and were the first guests to arrive for the day. She even showed us a couple of rooms and let us pick which one we wanted. Breakfast was very good. Waffles, cereal, fresh fruit, fruit cocktail, yogurt, breads and danishes. The coffee was not great though: Pretty watered down. No big deal, we brought coffee and a french press thermos. We just used the hot water to make our own coffee. Dining is in the old bar area (I'm telling you, this was the place to be in 1983). The pool was nearly Olympic sized(slight exaggeration)! But the biggest pool I have ever seen in a hotel. You can definitely do laps for your morning workout. The workout room has three pieces of equipment: some massive weight lifting machine (top of the line in the 80's), top of the line stationary bicycle (from the 80's) and a brand new treadmill. Also, this place has a sauna which is another bonus. This hotel is located near the end of the "strip". The placement is perfect. You can walk to everything from here. I highly recommend this budget friendly place if you're staying in Lake Placid. * side note: If you're coming in from the west, you will pass through Saranac Lake before you get to Lake PLacid. They have an Aldi and you should stop if you don't want to pay out the wazoo to eat out. Every restaurant in Lake Placid is very expensive. Even McDonald's is more expensive here.
I do enjoy and grateful to the warm and caring hospitality of the manager and the staff at highest level. Best location, high quality and friendly behavior of all the Best Western at Adirondack is unforgettable. I thank you .
While we were checking in the GM was yelling at an employee right next to the front desk. We could hear everything. It was awkward and uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional. The rooms haven't been updated since the 70s and were humid and musty.
Whenever we go to Lake Placid we always stay at this Best Western. It is at the beginning of the main street of Lake Placid so it is a great location. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The service is always very good. The free breakfast is good- a lot of variety to choose from. The best thing is that you could walk the whole main street from the Best Western to the Mirror Inn and visit all the shops and restaurants. It is also across from the Olympic Convention Center/Arena which has a lot of information and historic information about the Olympics so you can visit any of the attractions from the Olympics. It is not a "luxurious" hotel but for the value, it has everything you would need for an enjoyable stay
Great location. Affordable price. Excellent breakfast. Free parking and Wi-fi with an indoor swimming pool. Wi-fi connectivity can be improved. They need to install wi-fi repeaters to resolve the issue.
Good location, with a friendly staff. Breakfast is your typical free hotel breakfast which does get a little boring over time. Hotel itself is clean but dated. The room air conditioner has a energy saving mode that causes it to continuously cycle, a noisy inconvenience when trying to sleep. Rooms are quiet and large. Nothing to do with the hotel but on cable, when did the History Channel became nothing more then the American Pickers?
Decent hotel. Loved the big room. Really great value and location Kept us waiting for check in but not a big deal and shaved a few $ off. They were very nice. It was very busy so felt for them. Pool area not so good. Needs to be updated.
I always rely on trip advisor before making any hotel booking, it generally never fails. We were on a road trip and on a budget, so trip advisor was essential. Unfortunately with this hotel, trip advisor totally let me down. This hotel is horrible. It desperately needs a refurbish. Our room, 222 I think, was very dark, smelt doggy, very noisy air conditioning unit right next to one of the beds (so that was a peaceful nights sleep), the beds were the old metal spring type that were probably 30 years old so creaked on every move and were very uncomfortable. The room was generally very outdated and very tired. It was like being put up at your grannys! The breakfast was ok, the staff were friendly and the location is excellent. These are the only good things that can be said about the hotel. We have stayed in some hotels on this trip of similar budget and all have been in line with the reviews and have all been as expected. This one is definately not and I don't understand the positive reviews on this hotel. It goes without saying I will not be returning. Lake Placid region is stunning though, just make sure you stay somewhere other than here!
For style and atmosphere, you cannot beat the Adirondack Inn in Lake Placid. This hotel is a perfect fit for the surrounding mountains and life style. It is nicely situated on the main street of town, directly across from some of the Olympic facilities and only about a 5 minute walk to the start of the shopping area. The hotel has a very relaxing décor based on the outdoors nature of the area. It has a large pleasant dining room and a spacious lounge area for rest and relaxation, complete with fireplace. Breakfast is included and it is one of the best we have had; featuring a wide selection of good quality food and a spacious dining area. The hotel has a large indoor pool, an adjoining hot tub, a small exercise room and a ping-pong table, on the lower level. While we did not make use of these facilities they were all very clean and nicely appointed. The staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable and the room had a small balcony with two chairs. We had stayed here about ten years ago, were completely pleased with our stay then, and now, and very highly recommend this hotel for any travelers. Lake Placid never disappoints.
Hotel is older like most in Lake Placid but is kept up. Our room was one of only a few with a private balcony. We didn't request it so it was pretty cool. Breakfast was decent and free. Just wish they had bacon instead of sausage patties but that's just my preference.
This was our second time to this hotel and the experience was still great. The staff is very friendly and nice to motorcyclists, which is not always the case... The person at the desk ensure we had a floor room so our bikes were close by. The rooms are big enough and clean. The hotel is close to pretty much everything in walking distance. The breakfast they serve is very complete and good.
I stayed here 3 nights during the Lake Placid Ironman weekend to support my friend. This Best Western was in the ideal place- out the back door is Mirror Lake just steps away and out the front is the Olympic Oval and Ironman Village. The room is cozy and clean. Breakfast is good for a quick bite. Main St w/ shops and restaurants is less than a 5 min walk. Truly ideal location.
The Inn has an older lodge appearance. Everything is very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast room. It is directly across from the Olympic Center making that an easy access. Just minutes to walk downtown.
Booked the room 6 months in advance since we know summers in Lake Placid are busy. We had a great experience last year and decided to return however, this year, we were disappointed. Apparently, when you book on Expedia or other sites, you seem to be given whatever is left over and the hotel has "no control" over this. I find this strange since I have used Expedia for probably 10 years and never had an issue like this. We ended up with an accessible room on the 1st floor which was uncomfortable. The shower had very little pressure and the handheld unit wasn't particularly clean. The carpeting was worn and felt as though you were walking on concrete. We decided to have a drink on the porch as last year that was nice however, this year, we listened to electric drills and workmen even after 6pm, so that was a bust. We asked twice to be moved but was told they were full so they couldn't do anything even though we were able to check in early. It seems like they could have given us a better room before other check-ins, especially since were are repeat customers. The pool was good but too much chlorine. I also remember the breakfast being better in 2016 with good pastries, etc. Not this time - sad, we will not likely be back although the location is great.
We booked our room directly with the hotel with "john" - he promised an excellent room at a good rate. We got the deluxe King room on the 2nd floor facing the main street and the Olympic Center. It was an excellent Sunny and cheerful room with very comfortable bed. An great view of the sunset in the evening as well as a small balcony with chairs - perfect place to people watch. Breakfast area was large, well maintained by an efficient staff, and several options.
Overall stay was fine. Good location to everything. The entry doors onto deck unsafe and in need of repair. Food service, internet and room otherwise fine for the $$. Parking lot is tight for larger vehicles and spaces are limited so beware.
The staff was friendly. This location didn't go out of it's way to make it special, but they were nice. The parking was terrible. The pool was very nice. This hotel was close to many attractions in the area.
We visit Lake Placid 2-3 times a year. The past several years we have stayed at this Best Western and have been very satisfied. This visit was, sadly, different. We arrived approximately 45 minutes before check-in time. When we asked if we could check in, the clerk literally laughed at us. Okay, well, we understood we were early, but her response was inappropriate and rude. We have arrived early on other visits, usually holiday weekends, and it wasn't so much that our room wasn't ready, it was her attitude that was bothersome. We decided to take a stroll downtown and came back about 2 hours later. Yes, our room was ready. It was a first floor room. We asked if we could upgrade to the second floor, either complimentary since we are Rewards members, or for an additional charge. This same clerk's terse reply was that the hotel was full. That's fine, we understood and took our key cards. But again, her curt responses were so unlike our other visits. So unwelcoming. This was easily our 10th visit to this same hotel and never have we been treated so poorly. While our room was fine, it was never serviced by the cleaning staff - despite our seeing the cart right outside our door when we stopped back briefly to drop off packages. Otherwise, we were gone from our room the entire day. Again, just not at all like other visits. We've decided to move on from this Best Western for future trips. A welcoming smile and attitude are all we ask.
Nice and cute hotel. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Clean room with balcony and nice lake view..Nice TV and very strong WIFI. Great location. Sauna did not work though. Overall hotel is excellent for family of two or 3 to stay.
Nice place in a convenient location within walking distance of many locations in Lake placid. Very comfortable and exactly what we were looking for! Breakfast was delicious, the pool area was nice, and the back deck made the room feel very cozy.
You can not beat the location and the value. We stay here for skating competitions. We will be back. The staff is professional and efficient. The rooms and are clean and comfortable. Love the free breakfast.
BW Lake Placid is not a luxury hotel. It is a very reasonable middle-of the-road hotel. The staff was friendly and courteous. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The Adirondack community is a fun and active area- summer and winter. There is plenty to do and see. Our trip was in the summer. BW Lake Placid is close to the Main St. restaurants and also close to activities and points of interests. The property is skrunched into a lot along the main st. For families looking to base out of a hotel and explore the area, BW is a good spot. Hoses and cloths were available to clean bicycles and outerwear.
Great location just across the street from the Olympic Center Indoor rinks. The backside of the hotel has a path right to the lake and for the winter the toboggan slide! The room was very spacious and comfortable complete with a mini fridge which was handy on the hot weekend we stayed. Breakfasting in the lounge area was appreciated. There is a lot to choose from for many types of appetites. We've booked again for an August date!
Look elsewhere! The room was dated. The service was miserable. The cleaning staff did not service our room for two consecutive days, even when we asked them to return. The only good part was breakfast, because of a lovely woman named Gloria. Otherwise there are many high quality hotels, Inns and bed-and-breakfast in Lake Placid. I suggest you look elsewhere
We stayed for one night over the Memorial Day Weekend. Great location right in town, walking distance to all and a short drive to High Peaks! Pool and jacuzzi! Breakfast was served in a large room with some nice options.
I stay in this hotel every time I come to Lake Placid. It is very comfortable nights sleep. the balcony off the room is a great place to sit with your morning coffee overlooking Mirror Lake and their own little coy pond. I like the free breakfast, pool and hot tub. The service is very friendly and helpful. The location is within walking distance to center of town for shopping and dinning.
Perfect location in Lake Placid, great staff, friendly experience. Décor is like staying at a lodge. Very quaint. Very much enjoyed my visit. If you are looking for a pleasant, not "over-the-top" exclusive fine dining, etc. this place is excellent.
I had one of the best experience in this BW hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent. Service as well as Breakfast is are excellent. We went to the Winter Olympic museum, which was just across the hotel.
Great mountain scenery. Winter ski lodge atmosphere, rooms need updating, probably haven't been updated in many years. Not enough outlets for charging phones, etc. sliding glass door with small sunken patio overlooking parking lot.
Very happy with our stay!!! The rooms are clean and spacious staff was very nice. The only two things that could be better is a game room for the kids and more of a selection for breakfast. Very nice place.
Hotel is in a great location (across from Olympic Hockey rinks) and is very close to the main parts of Lake Placid. Very clean, very good breakfast included in the rate, but the rooms are showing age. Certainly not an issue though. Good place.
The convenience of this location was ideal for attending convention, shopping and variety of restaurants nearby. We look forward to coming again and taking advantage of the areas offerings. this was an id al location and happy we were able to book a room and had stayed here previously.
Great service at check in and check out. It was a very comfortable bed and room. Easy to park and walk to everything on the main street which has lots of restaurants and shopping. I would definitely stay here again when in the Lake Placid area.
Stayed here for a night. Rooms on first floor access from the outside so you can wheel your bicycle inside if you need to. It is overall a nice place in a great location. This place books up quick during their peak season.
Kudos to the staff for having to deal with all our hockey kids...lol. This hotel was absolutely wonderful from talking with the group manager and booking the rooms right to the time closed the door on our stay. The location was perfect for our hockey families, they could walk to town, to the rink or the oval. There was a nice little restaurant with a fire pit next to the hotel as well. The pool was nice as well as the addition of a ping pong table. They had a nice breakfast area that was quite large and they allowed us to use that to also host a team party one night. thank you Best Western, cant wait until our next trip to Lake Placid
Pool, jacuzzi, sauna that is what invited me to try Best Western Adirondack inn. It's off season and my room smelled a bit musty, but that was to be expected. The beds were clean and comfortable, which is what mattered to me. All the staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were all very clean! They even had separate changing, shower rooms right off the sauna, which was a bonus. The pool, indoor, had nice lounge chairs around it. A large area around the pool. Large windows, that would have had great views in the summer or winter. Complimentary breakfast had the standard eggs, sausage, waffle maker, assorted continental items. Nothing special. My surprise was the outdoor room access. I may have read the hotel details incorrectly or it wasn't clearly stated. I expected, but did not have an inside room. The walls were not sound proof and I could hear anyone walking above or next to us. They did have inside rooms, we walked the halls on the way to the pool, and evert step was noisy and creaky. Maybe, no one was in those room, idk. Close to dining and shopping, across the street from the Olympic museum.
Excellent location right across teh street from the Lake Placid Ice Arena and a 2 minute walk to the downtown area where the shops and stores are. Kim at the check in was very helpful. You can never go wrong the breakfast at a BW - waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, muffins/danishes with bagels and breads, juices and hot fresh coffee. I highly recommend this hotel for its location and value. We will be looking to ocme back in the winter to get the full experience of "Placid" since it was teh down time of year there last week.
My husband & I had a great stay at this Best Western. The location is town was wonderful because we could walk everywhere. The room was extremely comfortable with a deck and view of the lake. The staff was always friendly & helpful.
Great location to shops, restaurants and the Olympic Rinks right across the street. Good value for location, too. Outside and hallways are a bit dated, but the rooms are modern. Not much for parking, especially in the winter when the snow pile cuts the parking lot way down.
The excellent location and affordable price brought me in. The wonderful staff, tasty breakfast and clean and comfortable rooms won me over during my stay. And the cozy Lake Placid vibe will keep me coming back!
Right in the center of town, the BW Adirondack Inn is clean, comfortable, and affordable. The beds are comfy, the shower has great water pressure and is as hot as you want it to get, and there's a great hot breakfast waiting for you in the morning.
I took my granddaughter and her friend for a 3 day visit during their school break. This hotel was perfect for us! It was close enough to walk downtown and to skating, sledding and restaurants. The breakfast was just what we needed- lots of choices for picky eaters! The girls loved making their own waffles. The toboggan run was right out the back door and was such a deal! The room was adequate- not luxe but clean and comfortable. For the price it was perfect. To top it off, at the end of the day they loved the pool while I warmed up in the hot tub. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.
Although the building is older and comes with the thin walls and creaky floors, the warmth of the lobby, convenient location, and exquisite breakfast (with extras like dried fruit and nuts for your yogurt or oatmeal) make up for it.
The rooms are big, quiet and comfortable. The location is great, on Main Street directly across from the Olympic center. The property is well maintained and very clean, with many updates. Fantastic value.
Adirondack Inn offers clean, quiet rooms and a congenial atmosphere in a convenient, right-off-the-street location that still manages an air of quiet seclusion. Easy access and within walking distance of just about everything in town.
Stay at the Best Western for a weekend get away in Lake Placid. Close to the shops and right across the street from the Olympic Center. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We thought the continental breakfast was open til 11 but when we got there at 1040 they were cleaning up. It was our mistake and didn't realize breakfast closed at 10. But, the woman who appeared to be in charge of managing breakfast was SO nice! She waited for us to grab a plate before cleaning up. Her patience and kindness was much appreciated!! We stayed in a king suite. The suite was very spacious and clean. It snowed with accumulation of about 8", which put a damper on our hiking plans, but the room was toasty warm and the parking lot and sidewalks were cleaned up....ALMOST getting us in the holiday spirit!
The Best Western in Lake Placid was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was very extensive. Staff was very attentive and answered questions about local venues. Room was quiet. Stayed for work and will stay there again.
Good stay at this Best Western on a family trip with my son. A little trouble checking in using my BW points and paying for the other night with a credit card, but the got it all figured out. The staff was very good. Polite, genuine and good with customers. The indoor pool and hot tub were very small and really crowded so we didn't use them. It was Columbus day weekend though. We ate the breakfast on one day which was decent for what it was. The second day was just to crowed so ate at a different restaurant. The hallways to the room did have a foul odder both days. The room was average although the bathroom was really tiny. The AAA rate of $141 seems excessive, but it was a holiday weekend. I feel this hotel should be between $89 - $109 for a reasonable rate given the weekend. As mentioned the staff as excellent and kind which is why the higher rating given the few down falls.
The hotel is right in the heart of Lake Placid, directly across from the Olympic Ice Rink/Museum and within walking distance of everything in downtown. Room, beds, bathroom, service all fantastic! Park the right way and you don't have to move around. The complimentary breakfast is outstanding and plentiful thanks to the ever busy Gloria!
The hotel is clean. Has free breakfast. You can park right near your hotel room. We had an internal room, which was great Wonderful black out curtains. If you go out the gate in the back of the hotel, you are right at Lake Mirror and can walk around to Main Street.
Our family has been to this hotel several times. We love the great location and views across from the Olympic center, the 2nd floor balconies, hotel pool, free full breakfast, and games in the lobby. Our young kids look forward to coming here.
overall the room was ok its the service, the breakfast and the cleanliness of the room. Mold in the bathroom and parking is jammed. Try to get out without having to back up numerous times to let someone in or out or with out hitting another car. Much to narrow
The shower head was filthy and the caulk around the tub was mildewed. Otherwise the stay was very pleasant. Walking distance to most of the town's amenities, restaurants and shops. Across the street from the Olympic Ice Rink. (1980)
Had to book overflow for conference and was concerned on reading other reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the comfortable beds and clean room. Very close proximity to Lake Placid shopping and dining, walked everywhere. Would stay here again for the value.
Stayed over Labor Day weekend while motorcycle touring in the area. Parking right outside the door, in the secluded rear of the building. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds. Walking distance to good restaurants and bars. I will stay here again on our next Adirondacks bike tour.
Very pleasant stay. Rustic lodge feel. Obviously an older building that has had a lot of updates while keeping the quaintness that was built into the original hotel. The location was incredibly convenient being directly across the street from the convention center and easy walking distance to all the great shops downtown. The room was spacious and clean and the service was excellent. Only problem was the wood smoke coming from the restaurant next door. While the smell did not enter the rooms the public areas did smell like a campfire. (not all bad) I enjoyed my stay and would definitely book another stay.
Good location, could walk to anything on Main Street (shops, dining, etc) Parking - if lot full, you will need to back out to the front to turn around. Good breakfast with a good selection. Housekeeping not consistent.
our room was on the second floor and the ceilings were vaulted which made the room feel very spacious. The room was in great condition. Nice beds and everything you could need. The parking is limited but we were there on a Sunday and had no issues. The breakfast selection and dining room was impressive. I have stayed at many hotels that include breakfast and usually the room is crowded, small, and the selection is limited. Not here. Well worth the money. The staff was nice at check in and at the breakfast buffet.
Solid and dated hotel. But that's perfectly fine with my family. Very functional hotel, clean, good breakfast options and some of the nicest hotel staff I've ever met. From mgmt to cleaning staff everyone was great. Our room had a partial lake view and balcony where we could sit, relax, and have a drink after a long day of touring. If you're looking for a luxury resort that will pamper you with white glove service, go find one of those $600 a night places.
We enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel in a great location. It was an easy walk (even with small children) to great dining, shops, and views of the surrounding mountains. Kids also really enjoyed the well maintained indoor pool. In room decor is a bit dated, but the overall look of the hotel has a nice Adirondack feel. Parking is not adequate at night; if you arrive late expect to park on the street and not in the hotel's small lot.
The staff at this hotel was great. We loved the location because we could walk to shops and restaurants. There was a park behind the building which had a small sand beach and wading area and a playground. This is more of a motel then a hotel. Our room was on the first floor with the door to the room leading outside. Our room smelled musty and could have used some sprucing up. The indoor pool area did not open until 10am. We would have liked to swim in the morning before starting our day.
My bike groups previously stayed at the Golden Arrow (I love the lobby), but they have raised their prices to the point where they're no longer realistic. This place seemed like a good alternate, with easy access to the town beach and downtown. I recommend the suite at the lake end of the building. Very strange - they provide no luggage carts, but have endlessly long hallways, especially on the second floor. The breakfast room is quite attractive and spacious, but the offerings are underwhelming. Manager Kim Zagst is one of the coldest people I've met in a long time.
Right away we knew our stay would be great. The staff at the desk was friendly and gave us information we needed to pick up a trail map before the store closed. Everything was clean. The decor was dated , especially the carpet in halls and stairs on the 2nd floor. Every outlet worked in our room. The screen door was a bit tricky but not an issue as we only used it to bring luggage in from our car. The tv was nice with many channels and an exceptional guide identifying them. It was centrally located so we walked everywhere.
this hotel was in a good location, within walking distance of downtown lake placid. the exterior looks a little tired but the rooms are remodeled and up to date. they had hearty breakfast offerings which provided a good start to the day. overall, this was a good value for the location.
Old hotel, I don't reccomend No elevator No air condition at all room. I have been at the state for 32 days and it was the worse hotel. The smell from the resturant was rerrible. The lamps are old version and it makes the bathroom very hot.
This was my first visit to the Lake Placid area and it was stunning! The RIO OLYMPICS were going on, so it was fun to visit a previous Olympic venue. The hotel staff was very helpful with local information and directions. The village was charming and Mirror Lake is stunning.
We stayed at this hotel twice in July. One night to drop my daughter off at hockey camp and the next to pick her up from hockey camp. This hotel is very conveniently located. It is directly across the street from the USA 1980s miracle rink. It is on main street making it very convenient to walk into town, there is also a trolley stop right outside the hotel that will take you anywhere on the main strip and drop you off. The rooms were surprisingly big, we had a room on the second floor with vaulted ceiling's. Two queen beds and sliding doors to the outdoor deck with two Adirondack chairs. Our room was close to the end of the hall so we had a great view of the lake. The complementary breakfast was delicious. There was a server who was very attentive and made sure that everybody was happy and had what they needed. The pool area and hot tub were also very nice. The lobby has nice leather couches and chairs with a fireplace. There's also an outdoor deck off the lobby with tables to eat at. The staff at check-in were amazing they very nice and polite and when I checked out the first time I asked if there's any chance I could get the same room the following Friday. She looked to see what room I was scheduled to have and it wasn't the same room, she said that she would see what she could do but because it was the day before the Iron Man race it might be a little tricky. However when I arrived the next Friday to check in she did give me the same room. She said she just had to do a little moving around, that was very nice that she was able to accommodate me. I will definitely stay here again when going to Lake Placid everything about this hotel is an A+
Easy, short walk to town and my son loved the pool - two advantages to staying at the BW. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good, too. We had a very nice view of Lake Mirror from our 2nd floor room. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
The hotel messed up our reservation and said our room was booked for what we expected to be the 3rd night of our stay. Caused great inconvenience with no satisfactory solution offered by the hotel personnel.
The BW Adirondack Inn is a wonderful hotel. I would highly recommend it if you are planning a visit to Lake Placid, NY. Great staff and surprisingly comfortable rooms with a wonderful complimentary breakfast. It's advertised as a continental breakfast, but it is really a full breakfast; eggs, ham, french toast, pancakes, yogurt, fruit, muffins and more...
My husband and I stayed one night and we were pleased with the property and most especially the location. Lake Placid in the summer is busy and parking can be a problem but we literally parked the car and didn't have to move it until we left -easy walk to town, directly across from the skating facilities and very easy walk to Mirror Lake. The amenities surprised us for a Best Western as well - great pool, decent gym and nice lounge areas including the outside deck which was perfect for cocktails with a great view of the mountains. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included and was good. Staff were good but we didn't need anything. I think the only concern might be if there were any loud parties out on the balcony area that could keep you up but that wasn't the case when we were there. Highly recommend!
First time in the area and front desk staff extremely helpful with questions about the area..The housekeeping staff were more than helpful, we had been traveling in a lot of rain and some muddy roads and told us we could use the hose to wash our motorcycles off and made sure there were plenty of towels for cleaning....Thank you very much
Firstly, there was a bit of a mix up in our reservations and we had to change rooms in the middle of our stay. The staff was very apologetic and we were compensated for our trouble so I won't ding them for this but I do have to say it didn't leave us with a good first impression. The hotel is a bit older and run down but the rooms are roomy and clean. The beds are very comfortable and the shower pressure is adequate. Be aware there is no elevator in the hotel so if you have trouble with stairs request a 1st fl room. We are still physically able so we managed to get our luggage up the stairs but perhaps some kind of bell hop service might be useful for older couples. The hotel itself is in a very convenient location. It's near the center of town so you can walk to several restaurants and the lake. One annoying thing which unfortunately the hotel has no control over is that there is a restaurant in front of the hotel (The Pickled Pig) that has a fire pit. The smoke kept blowing into our room so we could not sit out on the balcony or leave the door open for the nice cool night air which defeats the purpose of having a balcony.
Revisited Lake Placid with my bride of 33 years for the first time since our honeymoon. Stayed at Mirror Lake Inn for our honeymoon, but they are pretty much out of our price range at this moment in time. This BW seems to be a little dated, but it's not too bad. Found it to be quiet, comfortable bed, decent complimentary breakfast and nice, attentive housekeeping personnel. Liked the deck, there was a limited view of Mirror Lake. Things that weren't so good: 2nd floor rooms have very high ceilings which makes for slow cooling of the room; parking is tough; front desk personnel not as proficient as they could be. All in all, we liked the place and would stay again. Good location close to downtown...walking distance.
Enjoyed our stay here for our 52nd anniversary. Very pleasant staff and clean accommodations. Great location for walking into town and to the beach area. Would like to have had an in-room safe and a comfortable chair. But otherwise was a very pleasant stay.
Stayed one night on the Fourth of July. I usually stay at the Golden Arrow next door but it was sold out. This hotel is adjacent to a public beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The room was clean and they're is nothing bad to say about it at all. The wifi was free and easy to access. The only thing I was not happy about was the 10 am door knock by housekeeping even though we were not checking out ( we were still in bed sleeping). As well, upon check out, they tried to charge me their standard room fee even though I had scored a room at a super low rate through booking.com. Good thing I had saved my confirmation email; it was a $50 difference in price. They were great about rectifying it but I don't know what would have happened if I didn't have that email. I would go back again should Golden Arrow not be available again.
is really an inn on the main street which is congested with traffic and tourists, Thank goodness we were on the second floor and towards the end of the corridor. Our view of the lake was marred by trees and a large wooden incline. The fence, referenced by other reviewers was in view. Our room was spacious, clean but dark. Lamps do not provide ample light, especially since there is no lamp next to the sofa which hugs a corner area. The public area is rustic and attractive; the breakfast area especially nice with food stations separated to avoid congestion. Stay away from the waffles - they are the frozen, heat up in the toaster variety. The "fried eggs" are certainly not fried. They are a microwave version with a little yellow spot in the middle. Staff is friendly and efficient. Parking is angled and quite tight.
Nice location and probably a nice view if you're not facing the car park. Good sized rooms and breakfast was included which is lovely as you don't have to go to another place which takes some stress off. More of a motel than a Best Western. Room was quite outdated, which was fine, but wasn't particularly well cleaned with quite a few hairs in the bathroom. I would also recommend unplugging the fridge if you want some sleep, however if you're the bottom floor you may as well say goodbye to that with the people walking around above you coupled with paper thin walls. This best western was chosen by my travel company and for 1 night as a stop over it would've been fine but for any more is not a good place to stay. Would recommend the Crown Plaza, where we ended up moving to instead.
I was very pleased with just about everything at the Best Western Adirondack Inn. I arrived about half an hour before check in time. My room wasn't ready so I sat in the lounge to wait. It didn't take long, I was called in 5 minutes for checking in. All of the staff were super nice, very friendly and courteous. The room had 2 queen beds and was very spacious, plenty of room to unpack and move around. While not "luxurius" it was very comfortable and clean. There was a good sized dresser and enough closet space to hang what I needed for a 2 night stay. Also a small table with two chairs. The only thing missing was an easy chair to watch TV from. Once I figured out how to sign onto the internet the connection was excellent. Rooms were non-smoking which was a plus, no cigarette odors at all. Cable TV, coffee, tea, small refrigerator, iron, ironing board and hair dryer were all provided at no extra cost. The location was super, we could walk to everything, from one end of Main Street to the other and beyond. The walk around the lake was a treat. On the down side was parking. It's diagonal parking and very tight in a very narrow lot There is only one way to get in and out, so diagonal parking isn't really the best in this situation. If you pull head first into your parking space, and the lot is full when you leave it will be tough getting out of your spot unless you want to back all of the way out. There is very little room to turn around. Best bet is to back into your parking space so that you can easily head out (but that is hard to do if the lot is full). Another down side is the view. I requested a first floor room and that looked out to the parking lot and a big fence. Maybe other rooms have a better view, I really don't know. The only other thing I didn't like was the windows that didn't open. I would have loved to have some fresh air. All in all a good experience with great staff!
Nice clean hotel. A little out dated but otherwise very comfortable and close to town so you can walk to everything . We traveled here by motorcycle and most of the rooms view the parking lot . great seats right outside room on second floor. Very quiet and peaceful place
We only stayed for one night on our North American driving tour. The hotel is easy to find right on Main Street opposite the Olympic ice rinks. It is designed to look like a Swiss chalet and we had rooms in the main building. Check in was extremely easy and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very pleasant and clean containing everything you could wish for. It is a shame we could only stay the one night. Breakfast was provided on site and was very good. The hotel provided a guide to all the restaurants in town for dinner which was helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
The location of the hotel was nice. It was close to downtown but I was not to crazy of the hotel itself. The room were not big enough I think for doubles. I'm use to bigger rooms especially when we get doubles. The staff was friendly and location was nice but nothing more than average hotel.
Great location and the rooms, especially the bathroom was very clean. The hotel itself is very dated, though, and the pool area was only so-so. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was convenient and coffee was pretty good with take-away cups available.
Based on the reviews of this inn, I was expecting much more. I was disappointed. It is in a great location and it has a great breakfast room and has a new looking pool (although we didn't swim in it) but our room was pretty disappointing. It smelled very very musty, the towels were stained, there was a gross brown stain on the white bed cover and there were hairs of other people in the bathroom behind the bathroom door. Note to cleaners: please close the bathroom door when you're in the bathroom to see what's behind it! The beds were comfortable but the room seemed in need of a fresh reno. Over-all we weren't overjoyed staying here.
Conveniently located, love the decor of the Hotel and rooms, gives you the true Lodge style feel. Facilities are clean and breakfast included, waffles were cold and hard, our room smelled funny...not sure what it was but it wasn't in the sleeping area so it sufficed. This is our second time staying here, would I stay again, not sure, would price around next time.
Best location in Lake Placid- great walk around Mirror Lake, right across the street from the Olympic museum, nice outdoorsy themed hotel- awesome staff. It was a great trip. We were very happy with the whole experience.
Great location for our hike in the High Peaks! After the hike we came back and immediately jumped into the wonderful pool! Breakfast was presented beautifully, lots of choices, clean, and wonderful staff. We would definitely come here again. The only thing that was remotely bothersome was the hot tub... the water was a bit cloudy so we did not spend time in it. Other than that, we highly recommend this place!!
Terrific location and price during the busy Memorial Day weekend. Two of our friends were being recognized for climbing their 46th high peak in 2015 and we were able to share in their experience. We left our vehicle parked at Best Western and enjoyed our days exploring the village, boating on Lake Placid, walking around Mirror Lake, and shopping.
To be fair, the room is adequate, bed is comfortable, and the location is excellent. But, finding out too late for my large group, there are much nicer hotels in the immediate vicinity that have better rates. My issue is with management and the fact that during the week we booked, they are having the TV system switched over, or upgraded or something. But there has been no TV all week and it's now Friday. Ok so bad luck on our part. You have to do it sometime right ? Well that's fine but while the rest of the hotel is working, my TV isn't. I went to the front desk and spoke with the manager. He said he "thinks" the cable company is coming back out today. When, he has no idea and only think's they are coming back out. My expectation is that he would get on the phone to the cable company, tell them one room is out and they need to send a technician out to fix it. Not "I think" they are coming back today. I will definitely be expecting something off of the bill for not having TV for the entire week we are here. We are a motorcycle group and brought about 60 people to this hotel for anywhere from 3 to 5 days. That's a ton of business. But now that I know what else is in the area and that's it's cheaper, and that management just throws their hands up when there's an issue, I doubt we'll be back.
this was close to town and across the street from the olympic building.the breakfast was great and the room very nice and spacious. the bed was very comfortable, the pool was very nice too. we would recommend this to people of all ages.
Very nice facility and excellent staff. The breakfast was very nice as well. I enjoyed the stay very much. The bed was very comfortable. Very convenient location to hit the trails or shops and restaurants.
Stayed here in March for a hockey event at the Olympic Arena which is directly across the street. Never had to use our car the entire time we were there. GREAT LOCATION! Staff was extremely friendly, rooms clean and hot breakfast for a great price in Lake Placid. Would definitely stay here again.
A hotel in the heart of Lake Placid, right across from the Convention Center and Olympic Center. Very nice exterior, the interior rooms could use some updating, but everything was functional and clean. The pool is great and has a lot of space to relax around it, there is also a nice hot tub. The breakfast area is very nice with lots of room to roam and a nice selection. In the breakfast area is also a lounge with a large TV and a couple couches. A really nice place to relax while viewing the Olympic Center and the mountains. Exterior is well kept and has a nice gold fish pond area for relaxing as well. The staff was very nice and helpful
We spent 4 days while attending a conference. Hotel was right across from the Convention Center where the conference was being held. Very close to numerous restaurants and also shopping, as well as tourists attractions. Will definitely stay here again when we come back. Pool could have been warmer.
We really like Lake Placid and we were looking for a place near the beach. The location is perfect. The place has a rustic feel, however, we were a bit worried when we walked upstairs but we found the room to be very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We were happy to see skim and almond milk. The woman in charge of breakfast was super friendly and helpful. In fact the place had Wonderful staff!!! The pool is great. Everything seemed well-maintained. TV is not a priority but half the channels didn't work. We would stay here again without hesitation.
My daughter and I stayed overnight here for her Spring Break. The location is wonderful, you can walk to all the shops and plenty of restaurants. Our room was nothing fancy but it was comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. My daughter loved the pool. It was nice to relax after all our walking. The breakfast buffet was included and it was wonderful. We had bacon and eggs and waffles. Also, a nice selection of breads, bagels, and pastries. The woman working in there was wonderful. Definitely a huge benefit !!!! Price was perfect for us. Please give them a try, you won't be disappointed !!!
Love this place! The staff us always friendly and professional the rooms are clean and comfortable wish I could take the matress home with me. This is a great location with plenty of parking and the hotel provides a complimentary hot breakfast.. Rooms have coffee makers and refrigerators and the housekeeping staff keeps the coffee and cups well stocked.
We stayed here for an overnight trip to Lake Placid with our kids. The hotel lobby gives you a very Adirondack ski lodge feeling. The hotel is a little older, but the rooms are very clean and huge! Each room as a sliding glass door to an outdoor shared balcony that wraps around the building with cozy Adirondack chairs aplenty. The location is unbeatable if you want to visit downtown Lake Placid. Park your car at the hotel, lace up your sneakers and go. Directly across the street from the hotel is the Herb Brooks Arena and just beside it is the Olympic Figure Skating Oval. We enjoyed the short walk downtown and had a delicious dinner at the Adirondack Steak & Seafood Company. After our night downtown dining and shopping, we brought the kids back for a swim in their large pool. There is also a hot tub and changing rooms by the pool, so you don't have to walk through the hotel with your bathing suit on. The next morning we went down for what was advertised as a continental breakfast, it was way more than your normal waffle and toasted bagel. First of all the older lady running the buffet was wonderful, she came over showed us where everything was and even brought the kids drinks, even though it was self-serve. She was constantly changing out the hot foods, eggs, pancakes, home fries, ham and egg on english muffins, cereal, fruit and an assortment of pastries. Much nicer than your normal continental breakfast. This hotel was kid friendly, the staff was helpful and the location was unbeatable. We will definitely stay here again.
We stayed the night for a weekend getaway. Great room, great service. Breakfast had a lot of options. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was very close to downtown shopping and within walking distance to a lot of local places of interest.
We had no reservation, just passing through. The room was comfortable, clean, and had what we needed. People were friendly. Free breakfast was very nice. Loved the Adirondack décor. And the price was excellent. Great spot for budget travelers. It was right down town in the heart of the activity.
My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to Lake Placid after spending a night in Lake George. The hotel was a great location, a short walk to the main strip. Rooms were big and spacious although the beds were very firm and uncomfortable for my liking. The walls are very thin, we could hear people yelling in the hallway late at night after what sounded like a night of partying. The continental breakfast was nice..but some of the food like sausage and the eggs were not edible. French toast that was offered was okay. It was reasonably priced & the location made it all worth it.
Splendid view, great value, friendly staff A little updating is in order Good for a budget traveler Comfort in the middle of luxury town Many exciting attractions nearby Great restaurant referrals from desk staff
My husband and I were attending a conference just across Main Street at the Lake Placid Conference Center, so the Best Western was perfectly located. We thought we had just opted for the bargain motel, but everything we look for in a high-priced motel was here. The lobby had comfortable seating, the downstairs pool area was phenomenal -- large pool, hot tub, sauna with changing rooms and shower. The rooms were fine with good shower, air conditioning. We were on second floor and the outside veranda was very pleasant. The hallways give away the agedness of the motel, but don't let that influence you. There is no elevator but staff will help with bags, or you can ask for first floor. The hot breakfast was very good. Everything from eggs, pancakes, bagels to large pitchers of whole, 2%, skim, and almond milk! Staff was very helpful and gracious. We will definitely stay here again.
I am so glad that we chose to stay at the Best Western Adirondack Inn. I had my reservations based on some reviews, but in the end it was a great choice. The staff was very friendly, check in was a breeze. The room was good sized with vaulted ceiling making it feel very spacious. the lobby area was very comfy and relaxed; there was an outside sitting area as well as deck with Adirondack chairs with a great view of the mountains and Olympic ice Rink. Thank you to Jen who helped make a potential bad situation ok - there was no handicap parking and she made sure that we had a front spot each time we went out and returned. She was great!
Actually we were surprised that there would be a full breakfast (I thought it was continental). Our room was tidy and quiet, although I had concerns since we were on a bottom floor near the ice and vending machines. NEXT time we're going to bring along swim suits and enjoy the hot tub.
Amazing location right on main street right downtown, walking distance from everything. We got a great deal and in countered nothing but friendly staff. Had a great time and I'm Looking forward to staying there again.
Early check-in was great. Motel is right down town couldn't want for a better location. This place is serious need of renovating as it looks old and tired. People were excellent and the breakfast was filling. Indoor pool was very nice
Went there for a relaxing couple days. The place was clean. Town was dead this time of year so service was smooth and quick. The pool, hot tub, and sauna all were well maintained and ready for use. Hot Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices including fresh fruit.
From its pleasing exterior, reminiscent of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks, to its central location right across the street from the Olympic Skating Center & with Mirror Lake right behind it, the Best Western Adirondack Hotel in Lake Placid is a great place to stay when you are in the area for an event or a vacation. After arriving, I walked the length of Lake Placid's main street, deciding where to stop for dinner. I didn't have to worry about breakfast since there was a great spread to enjoy: fresh fruit, coffee, danish, bagels, eggs & sausage, waffles. More than I needed until well past lunchtime! The beds are super comfortable, and the water is very hot & has great pressure. Definitely a good medium budget place to stay!!!
Fabulous location to the Lake Placid Herb Brooks Ice Arena, literally right across the street. Very nice lobby/sitting area, very nice breakfast area. Good selection of breakfast items and the woman tending to it is wonderful. Only the eggs could be better. I like the real thing, but most of the hotels I've been to are using the same kind, yet most who I talk to all complain about these "SO-SO" eggs. but everything else was great. Walking is easy to shops, restaurants, bars, and churches. Only draw back might be parking if the hotel is sold out. It can be tight.
Although our stay was brief, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This "Adirondack Inn" was appointed as such with lots of charm and quaint sitting areas and decks for spreading out and relaxing. I can imagine this being perfect for skiing out of for a future trip. Comfortable beds for a good night sleep after our 5 hour drive and really clean rooms. I liked the location and will return to explore this Olympic town further...thank you for making our trip to watch my west coast nephew compete at the USCSA National Championships at Whiteface a memorable and fun one!
Convenient to downtown Lake Placid and Olympic Centers, stayed to see the first ever professional hockey game at the Herb Brooks Arena (across the street). Hotel was extremely busy with a Can\\Am Youth Hockey tournament the hotel staff maintained hotel cleanliness. My husband and I both thought the bed was extremely comfortable as well as the body size pillows. Will definitely stay again!
I stayed at this Best Western for 4 days while in Lake Placid for a conference. It's an older property but is in decent shape. The hotel has a nice lounge with a wood-burning fireplace and a nice breakfast room. It was a quiet place to meet. The rooms need more electrical outlets - there was no place near the bed that was convenient to plug in. Additional lighting would also be helpful. WiFi was hit and miss. It was OK some nights, but slow when the hotel was busier. A bandwidth upgrade is likely in order. A reconfiguration of the parking lot so you could pull through rather than having a single entrance would also help a lot.
We recently spent one night at the Best Western in Lake Placid. It is conveniently located near the center of town, across from the skating arena. The facility is adequate, and offers a complementary breakfast. The parking is very difficult and it is not easy to get an SUV out of the parking lot area.
The hotel is a little outdated and the room smelled a little musty, but the staff does anything to make your stay comfortable. From the gentleman who kept the fire going while we were sitting in the lobby, from the lady who manages the breakfast buffet to Esther in house keeping who did a fast but great job cleaning our room. Beds are super comfy, and the room is spacious. We had a room at the back of the second floor which has access to a big balcony that is shared with the other rooms at that side. When you arrive with a sports team, most of the hotels give you a threatening letter, listing the house rules and the consequences if you don't comply.. This hotel was refreshingly different: They understand that kids are kids and even offer up the breakfast area for "knee hockey" (mini-sticks), hanging out or playing board games. They do ask the kids to keep it down after 10:00 PM and that is perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was good with a different hot item each day. Free coffee and tea available the whole day. Nice selection of teas too! Wifi was included but slow..
This is the second year in a row that I have stayed in this exact hotel for a youth hockey tournament. Both years have proved that this hotel is amazingly accommodating with groups of hockey families!! Their common areas allow families to spend plenty of time together, and the staff is very understanding of the need for groups of kids to still have fun when they are away from home! Great place to stay!!
Love staying here when we come to Lake Placid. The lobby is very family friendly and "homey", with board games and fireplace. Pool and jacuzzi are excellent. Beds super comfortable and it's right across the street from the Olympic Oval for skating!
This hotel is located directly across the street from the Olympic Arena and steps from a wide variety of restaurants. I drive a highway coach for a living and this hotel is one of very few that actually takes the time to put out pylons to block out a parking area for the bus. The receptionist and the manager were extremely friendly, in fact the whole staff always had a smile and a cheery hello whenever we met. Definitely a fantastic place to stay.
We had a great stay in Lake Placid, despite the incredible chill (low in town was -30). The Best Western served as a wonderful launch point. Conveniently located to downtown, the Olympic Skating Rinks and many restaurants. Rooms were warm and comfortable. Service is friendly and caring. Central facilities include a working fire place, large breakfast area, cafeteria, pool, sauna and hot tub. Very family oriented and friendly place. Perfect place to stay and explore the Lake Placid area.
Great place to stay after a day at whiteface. Never have we seen such clean pool and hot tub. Hotel was not overly busy when we stayed. Friendly staff and great breakfast in a spacious breakfast area. We will stay again! Would request second floor room next time. The building is of wooden frame and does creak. Comfortable. Thank you for the stay!
I stayed there with my fiance on our trip to the Adirondacks. Unfortunately only a room on ground floor was available, close to the parking lot. But the room was big with two queen size beds. I missed floor heating in the bath room, but the staff service was friendly. We even were allowed to look at the room first. We also used the indoor pool which was heated to a nice temperature. Breakfast was continental but with all you need. I would recommend this hotel to others and stay there again.
We just love this hotel. The staff is very friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you have a pleasant stay. The complimentary breakfast is very good and the breakfast attendant keeps everything well stocked and clean.Eggs, hash browns and either french toast or pancakes are offered along with fruit, cereal, bagels, muffins, juice and coffee. Unlimited too. Hotel has a indoor pool which I have not used but the area looks very nice and clean. Being across from the Olympic arena they get hockey teams, manly youth when I have been here but do not put up with any nonsense.
Convenient, clean and comfortable. Located in the center of everything and just a few steps across the street from the Ice Rink.Complimentary hot breakfast, internet and parking.Friendly staff.Definitely best value in Lake Placid.
Great for parents who want to abandon all responsibility for minding their children. CanAm games are right across the street kids can run up and down halls of the hotel and carry on with little or no supervisions. Hotel Management couldn't/wouldn't do anything about it. Didn't even think about going into the pool spa after that the kids you could smell the chlorine/urine from the lobby.
This is right on Main within a short walk to the hockey arena, shops, restaurants. Parking is generally a problem in Lake Placid, so being able to park your car and walk everywhere is a big plus. This hotel is very family friendly and is often filled with hockey families. The staff is friendly and helpful and it's a good place to stay for travelers looking value and not all the amenities you will find in a higher priced hotel!
The staff at the Lake Placid Best Western was very friendly and accommodating. I often choose the Best Western for the value and included breakfast - which is a great time saver and fills me up for most of my days events. I will stay there again.
Stayed here for my son's hockey tournament. The entire hotel was filled with similar families. I'm writing this review in this context (and not in reference to if staying as a couple or for business) In short, this was totally suitable for our stay. Check in was a breeze, and I really don't have any complaints. The complimentary breakfast wasn't great, but if you stick with the continental offerings (breads, cereals, yogurts) you're fine. Avoid the hot items - they were likely cooked hours before and kept in a warming plate. The coffee was horrible (but the STarbucks is a 10 min walk away). The room was a good enough room. Beds were actually comfortable. There was a small mini fridge that kept items more cool than I thought. No complaints about the bathroom. Like all hotels in the area, you can walk to everything, For a quick bite I recommend the 46 (or was it 49) sandwich place. For a team setting, this hotel had a nice common room for parents to socialize that was close enough to the rooms that you could leave kids in the room and still be accessible. If I found out my team had to stay here again I would have no issues with it.
We needed a nice, reasonably priced, comfortable, fun place to stay while visiting schools with our son - this was perfect! We loved the Adirondack decor, the spacious room, good breakfast and friendly staff. Thanks.
This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to shopping. Pool water is a bit cold but the hot tub is great. The free breakfast is great and the lady serving is very friendly, she does a great job. The room was very clean and quiet. Every time that we visit Lake Placid we stay at this hotel.
The Adirondack Inn feels a bit dated, but has great amenities and is in a great location, right across from the Olympic Arena and speedskating oval. The rooms were quaint but large. The pool, fitness centre, breakfast room and common areas feel like a rustic lodge. The free breakfast had everything! It kept us going until dinner even with a big hike during the day. Off-season would seem to be a better time to stay as the Inn could get crowded and it is located in a very busy part of downtown Lake Placid. Walk out the back entrance to get to Mirror Lake!
An out-of-season stay in Lake Placid is affordable and more relaxing with fewer visitors in town. The hotel is well-located and offers everything needed to relax and enjoy a splendid area. Some attractins will be clsoed, but there is enough to explore with friends and family.
Rooms were fine, beds comfortable. Pool small, but sufficient and area clean. Staff lacked local knowledge. Rooms were not always cleaned by mid afternoon. Reservation botched. Very good location. Overall good value.
Stayed for one night whilst doing a trip round New England and Canada. We were impressed as we approached it as it looked lovely from the outside, all decked in flowers. Our room was very nice too - a double queen room which meant we were extremely comfortable. The room had all of the usual features - safety deposit box, TV, comfortable beds and also free wifi. Although the postal address is Lake Placid, the hotel actually overlooks Mirror Lake, with Lake Placid being a short drive away. Lake Placid also refers to the town which is a short walk from the hotel - this is mainly one street alongside the lake. There are plenty of lovely shops and restaurants here and even a cinema.
We had not pre-booked but were given a 2 double room at a discounted rate. The room was very clean but was on the upper floor. This could be problem if you were slightly disabled as there is no lift but help was available if required. I did not find parking to be a problem and had plenty of room to turn round and drive out.( I have only been driving for 60years)! Breakfast was very good with a good choice, the little lady who looks after it keeps it well stocked. It may not be 5star but for the price we thought good value
Excellent location, almost directly on mirror lake. We enjoyed the breakfast - had a very good selection (included individual peanut butter servings!). Enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna; very clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Our stay was a very pleasant one.
Worst manager ever. Hotel not worth the price, stay elsewhere for a better value. Crowne Plaza much nicer for same price. Woman working in breakfast area was very nice, rooms are dated compared to other hotels in Lake Placid
Hotel staff changed our reservation a week before our stay; they had to scramble to get us a room but that did not stop for them giving our room away and people walking in on us. Additionally, they would not honor the booked rate. Finally, walls are paper thin!
This motel is not up to the lowest level of the Best Western name! Not handicap accessible at the front door. Hot tub had lots of sand in the bottom. Can't figure out from where. Indoor hot tub, not close to any outdoor doors. The pool was missing tiles, has a strange liner that is wrinkled and funny feeling on the feet. The pool and hot tub area is very large, open, with great potential. The room had mold in the shower, worn carpet and lots of marks on the walls and ceiling. Bad place, but even bad places can have great people...NOT this place. This motel needs a lot of maintenance to bring it up to the level of the lowest of the Best Western brand motels. I would not go here again.
That says it all: it's a good place to stay in Lake Placid/Keene, on Mirror Lake, and conveniently close to the center of town, good restaurants, shopping - and right across from the Olympic skating venue. That means it's also reasonably convenient to the other Olympic venues, like Whiteface (skiing).
The BWAI is essentially just an average m(h)otel with average service and stale carpet. On top of that it is completely build to facilitate wintersport lovers so it's weird to be there in summer and feel like you're in the wrong movie. One with unleveled floors that make you feel like you're drunk half the time. But the location is a blessing for the place. Across the Olympic ice court and info centre, and a stonesthrow of the town centre. And breakfast is good here so it's not all bad. Just a bit average and basic.
Throwback to the motor inn era. Rooms are clean and airy - we had a second floor room with lofty ceiling and exposed beams. The front deck is public, so we did not take advantage of the outdoor space. Parking is a little odd as it is a one way dead end parking lot with diagonal parking on both sides. Prepare to back out all the way. Breakfast was very good. We were not able to take advantage of the pool and workout area during our stay. Best feature - close to Lake Placid Pub and Brewery.
The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. We liked the balcony. The hotel is on "the main drag" so you can walk to just about anywhere in the village of Lake Placid and around Mirror Lake.
We stay in BW all over the US & this was by far the "WORST". It should be an embarrassment to the chain. It is in a great location but hasn't been updated to the point the carpet is so dirty that your feet leave black foot prints in the tub, the bed sounded like it was going to fall out of the frame.& the AC is just a window unit. We had the air on 60 & it was still HOT. The tub didn't drain, who wants everyone"s nasty on you!? Highly overpriced & not even high season. The check out clerk looked at us like it was our problem & quit complaining!! Disappointed !!!!
Best Westerns are as good as their individual owners want to make them and this hotel was in the bottom 20% of BWs I have visited. The room was fine but felt dated and the AC had that musty smell that can make you feel sick. The breakfast was mediocre although the woman serving it was super nice. The experience though that prompts me to write (I have only once before written an online review of any experience; that was for a great hotel where the manager asked me to record my compliments on Trip Advisor) was the way the Manager - Olga - dealt with my request to discuss my bill. The background is that I was staying with a group that had negotiated a $200 per night rate for 4 nights this past August. Some of the people in our group did not book early enough and so were paying the full rate of $220. When our lacrosse team's schedule for the Lake Placid tourney got shortened, we all left one night early. Those of us on the group rate were not able to cancel the last night even though we knew more than 24 hours in advance that we were leaving early. The full rate guys were able to cancel. So they paid $660 for 3 nights and the discounted rate guys paid $800. I wanted to discuss this outcome and see if the hotel was willing to credit the difference. I left Olga the general manager several messages the week after we checked out, providing the same detail as above; she did not call back. I then called probably 4 other times into September each time leaving a message asking her to call back. Finally today I got her on the phone; she answered the main line. Her attitude was shocking and I wanted to share the experience in hopes the owners will read this review, since if I were in their position, I would want to know. When I asked why she didn't call me back, Olga said, "I think it's pretty obvious I am not giving you any refund". When I told her that as a matter of customer service I thought she should have tried to explain the policy to me so they didn't lose my business (my team booked about 20 rooms for 4 night), she said, "I don't care if you never come back." I believe in the golden rule and was polite throughout the exchange. When I asked her if she would tell me if I could speak to her boss (the owners), she told me, "I am the top of the ladder here." IMHO, Olga needs a customer service course. I'll never go back and I"ll make sure my group does not either.
