« Depends what you want »

The good, lovely quiet location in the forest surrounded by a golf course. Our room on the first floor looked out to the forest, all the rooms have balconies and from there we saw red squirrels, deer, woodpeckers, nuthatches and all manner of other birds. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and some spoke English, but we had a bit of French so got along very well. Not very impressed with the restaurant, we only ate there once during our week stay and it was just OK, much better places (e.g. Riad Marrakech or Le Bistrot des Cochons) in Lacanau Ocean. Didn't eat breakfast there. Small but decent gym and good spa with a pool. The hotel is looking a bit tired in places and isn't very well maintained, looks like Best Western aren't investing as much as they could here, maybe not enough competition to make them. Expect the manager will reply to this with the identical copy/paste he seems to use to reply to most reviews of his hotel, which doesn't inspire confidence, but this place does have its good points as others have said.

« To expensive for what you get »

+ Nice environment, small pool but sauna and Jacuzzi available - Small room, no mini bar and no safety deposit box For the price I paid I think it is ratter expensive for what you get. +/- 5 km from the beach

« Big potential for this hotel »

Depending on what you are looking for, this place can be very good or very poor. You DO NOT go there if you are looking for: - a classy city hotel - a nice bathroom - a great breakfast You go there if you are looking for: - a quiet place to stay near the coastline - a family stay, enjoying a pool and a jaccuzzi - go golfing - rent a bike to enjoy the surroudings and ride to the beach Some of the staff are really nice and helpful, but some others are simply not done for this job! Among the things that can be improved: - the offer and service of the breakfast is below everything I have seen so far... - the sauna was always turned off... not really inviting - the bicycles could be a bit better maintained - the floor around the swimming pool could be refreshed. This hotel definitely has potential and I would recommend it, but as a guest you should know what to expect and what really matters to you.

    « Good Hotel »

We spend one night here during our week end in Family. It is a nice hotel with a view to the golf. The personnel is very helpful and nice. Rooms are very clean.Nothing else to add, I would recommand it.

« Nice hotel for golfers and cyclists »

The hotel is really set up for golfers, of which i am not, but is also listed as an accueil vélo accommodation on the vélodessée website for cyclo-tourists. Although a bit away from the beach and the local community, it is worth the inconvenience. The check in staff were very friendly and communicated well in English. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The hotel included a swimming pool and spa, which i did not use, and safe storage for my bicycle. Breakfast was a complete "european" style breakfast with great choices of meats, cheese, breads, juice and coffee.

« Lovely hideaway one hour from Bordeaux »

No shag pile carpets but a lovely quiet hotel in a forest, overlooking a first class golf course. A few minutes from the town of Lacanau Ocean, which as the name suggests is on the sea and has many good restaurants and in the busy season is a surfers Mecca. We visited in June and found a wonderful golf course that weaved its way through a forest full of deer squirrels hares and other wildlife, and a welcoming comfortable and relatively inexpensive hotel that we were reluctant to leave. If you're in the area definitely worth a visit.

« Fancy Hotel, slightly isolated - with a great golf court »

A pleasant one night stay after a touring bike day from Bordeaux. Welcoming staff, nice rooms, very pleasant swimming pool and jacuzzi. Slightly isolated; luckily the manager kindly arranged the transfer to a neighbouring restaurant.

    « A pleasant six night stay »

A quiet hotel set amongst the pine trees on a beautiful golf course. We stayed here in the last week in september and this may have been the reason it was a little quiet.and this suits us,we had a second floor room with balcony in the evening it was not unusual to see deer grazing and various species of birds. The restaraunt is spacious and also has canopied outside area where you can watch the golfers getting them selves into all sorts of trouble comming down the fairways to the greens. Breakfasts are good and plentiful . Dinners were good but the choice was limited the reason for this I was informed Their season was comming to an end, this did not spoil our enjoyment as there are many places to eat in the town. The room was clean, coffee making facilities, shower over bath. The hotel boasts a glass covered swimming pool, the cover slides back when weather permits and fitness room. the staff were helpful and reception desk was brillant.

« Excellent Hotel in the middle of a golf course »

This was a modern hotel with lovely spacious rooms and excellent service. Our bedroom looked over woods and the golf course. All very pretty. the swimming pool was small but pleasant. Supper was really good and nicely presented. Breakfast buffet was very sufficient. A very enjoyable one night stay. We were half board in room 110.

    « Stunning ! »

Overnight stop at this beautifully located hotel attached to a golf course in the woods. We had the most delightful dinner on the terrace overlooking the 18th green. Best fish on the holiday cooked in a light curry sauce. We would stay again given half a chance.

« Great place to relax »

We booked this hotel to crash after we ran the Marathon du Medoc. It was a great experience. Rooms are spacious and modern with a King Size bed. The hotel is surrounded by a forest which makes it very quiet and silent at night. It was excellent for a long night of sleep after running a marathon. Bathrooms are a bit tricky as the shower doesn't have curtains so the shower sprays water everywhere. There is a spa area with a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room which was great for recovery (though a few more degrees in the jacuzzi would have made it). Staff was quite friendly. The hotel is 5' driving from the town of Lacanau Ocean with loads of restaurants and bars to have dinner. Internet was slow. I wish I stayed longer.

    « Relaxing »

Loved this hotel, we wished we had booked more than just one night. It is so relaxing, the pool was perfect with a movable roof for when it rains. The rooms were spacious with everything you could need, the view was beautiful over the forest. The staff were friendly and helpful. I could not say one bad word about this hotel, I don't think the photos do it justice. We read the bad reviews before we got there but they are all just pretty dramatic! Yes the bathroom has plastic surrounds but it really isn't an issue and we found it was fine. It was a luxury bathroom but I don't think you can expect a luxury bathroom for the price. Excellent hotel, already planning our return.

    « Good »

We spent the weekend at this hotel and found it to be very pleasant. We had lunch at the restaurant which was very good. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very helpful and pleasant.we will be pleased to visit again.

    « Bad management »

The hotel has got it all as resort hotel, golf course, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna. But the hot tub is not hot, swimming pool is not clean, the maid comes in to the room without knocking while we are in the room ( not just once, several times). The breakfast staff are too busy with other engagement instead of looking after the need of guests. Too bad itt can be a great resort hotel if the general manager puts in some effort.

« Well placed and very agreeable hotel near the Sea »

We enjoyed the three night stay here - only one hour to Bordeaux and five minutes drive to the Beach at Lacanau. The staff were mostly very helpful - particularly on Reception! Swimming pool and sauna etc nice but access to this area not disability friendly. Set in pine forests right next to a great golf course. All in all - one to re-visit!

    « Disappointed »

For starters, we were part of a cycling group and upon arrival, no indoor room to store the bikes. The bikes were all left outside on a balcony and to add insult to injury, bad storm and rain that evening. They have to respect that some of these bikes were very high end quality bikes. This was unacceptable. The room are small and all plastic. The bathroom felt like you were in a plastic bubble. The room was ok but the carpet was dirty. The electricity went out and one of our people in the group had to go tell the staff in the morning to put the breaker back on. We stayed in many hotels during our stay in France and this one was our worse experience.

    « Sadly not a 4* hotel »

Noisy bedroom. Plastic bathroom which is highly disappointing for a 4*hotel. Poor breakfast with dried ham, eggs, brioche. The ham was so dry it curled up. Viennoiseries overcooked not to say burnt. Staff not welcoming. Find it hard to believe this is a 4* hotel when I stayed in much better 3*, is that due to the facilities only? Restaurant quite disorganised although the lady in charge seems to do her best. Had to wait some time for the meal and to top it all, my dessert was served with the carton lid, not what you expect from a 4*.

« The best hotel in Lacanau ! »

Nice hotel, quiet in a nice surrounding within the golf area of Lacanau. Due to a late booking, we were in the second building, not the main one. The earliest you book, the better it is, if you want a golf or a nice view : make sure you ask for it when you book ! First come, first served as regards the view. Full price is 175 € per night for a double-room. There are special day or discount rates, notably through Buffet breakfast is at 12 €. The restaurant terrace overlooking the golf is very nice. No doubt the best hotel in Lacanau !

    « Excellent 2 night stay »

We spent two nights relaxing in this lovely hotel, in room 106 overlooking the golf course and surrounding woodland. The quality of service provided was exemplary and we enjoyed ourselves very much. One minus point is that the bar does not open until 7pm and we would have enjoyed a cold beer on a hot afternoon ! We did not use the golf or leisure facilities, but the restaurant was very good for dinner and breakfast and we could not fault anything.

« Quiet comfort in lovely locale »

I stayed at this hotel twice. I was looking for a quiet place where I could recuperate from jetlag and go for walks in the woods or on the beach. This place is perfect if you don't want to be near road traffic or any other sources of noise. The building is on a golf course; I don`t golf but I enjoy the greenery and quiet. The room was perfectly comfortable, but not large. Nice balcony. Resto dinner was great, as was breakfast. Service cheerful and helpful. I will go back.

« Great location and hotel even if you don't play golf! »

I really liked this hotel. It was very woodsy, yet you were not far at all from the beach town of Lacanau. So you get both! The woods and the beach. We really appreciated the in-room coffee/tea and wifi. The only issues I had was 1. the parking: The hotel lets the golf guest use the parking lot so when we came back in the middle of the day there was NO parking, not a spot to be found. Other issue was that the main reason we chose this hotel was for the hot tub, and we were even willing to pay 20 euros to use it (5 euros per person for the four of us in our family) but when we got there it wasn't hot. It was warm. And they couldn't fix it, so that was a bummer.

« Not a true 4 star but the location is great »

If you are a golfer then this hotel is ideally located to play a lovely course. We are and did! Lovely course but play was a bit slow.... As for the hotel - the staff were friendly and helpful but both the bedrooms and the design/quality of the public areas do not live up to a 4 star rating - I assume they are awarded based on box ticking of facilities provided - which this does have but not to the level required . The dining room is like eating in a school cafeteria and despite instruction on how to get into the pool, we found ourselves trying door after door....probably our stupidity but no clear markings.... Breakfast was OK with the bonus(?) of being able to squeeze your own orange juice. In short, ideal for golfers but others less so.
