    « Better Choices Nearby....... »

I have had occasion to stay in Kincardine several times over the last year. I normally stay elsewhere but thought I would give this place a chance. Check in was smooth and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. My room was on the first floor. The room seemed very dingy and dark with a bit of a musty scent. Not a normal experience for a Best Western. In general I would have to say the hotel has a tired feel to it. There is no bar or restaurant which is a little annoying but not a deal breaker. The pillows were dreadful and the bed not comfortable at all. It was only one night but not one that I will not repeat. There are two better options directly across the street.

« Excellent Place to Stay »

As someone fairly new to the area, and the general experience of staying in a hotel, this place has set the bar pretty high. I had a lovely stay, and would welcome the opportunity to come back. Well worth the money.

« Older hotel than the chains across the street, but clean and welcoming »

This hotel has been here the longest, but has maintained itself well. Comfortable hotel with a old style lobby, breakfast nook/bar. Always very nice staff...clean rooms....this may be older hotel, but is is always busy

    « Not as advertised »

Room is good. Clean Staff are friendly There is no dining area-It has been closed. They provide breakfast which is fair at best Pool is closed. sauna, none, Universal in fitness center is broken Elliptical and treadmills are very dated Fitness room not very clean

    « Very nice hotel »

Hotel was clean, staff was nice had great breakfast buffet. Comfortable beds, restaurant in the hotel had good food and service. Was close to marina where we had a boat. Lots of parking. Rooms were reasonable priced.

    « Winter storm stay »

We had to stay here last minute due to the weather. We had our dog with us and luckily they have dog rooms which you pay an extra $20 so not bad. It was clean and beds are very comfy. 1 susgestion is to get rid of the full length mirror as our dog kept barking at it thinking there was another dog. But our dog could just be stupid. Full on free breakfast the next morning, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, toast. Option for cereal lots of muffins and pastries, lots of juice and coffee. All in all this place came through in a tight spot and would definitely go back if needed.

« Stay often for business »

Stay here often for business. Clean hotel and rooms. Friendly staff. Amenities close by. Friendly town. Room upgrades make it functional. Good breakfast. Restaurant has a good menu. Very comfortable. Great service.

« Wonderful hotel with terrific staff »

We stayed at the hotel in mid October and had really enjoyed it. The buffet breakfast was convenient and well maintained. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. The best part of the stay was how wonderful the staff were at the hotel. Treena in particular was very friendly and helpful. She answered our many questions and helped make our stay lovely!

    « Best Weatern Us Governor's Inm »

The hotel was nice. That said, their wifi was great and their restaurant/food was amazing! One of the best restaurants in a BW that I've had the pleasure of eating at. The staff were very helpful and kind.

    « It's a Best Western - not sure about the "PLUS" »

Stayed here in October 2017 on a trip up to the Bruce Peninsula. The hotel is not a "Plus" to me, despite having that in the name - first impressions of the hotel are great, but the room left much to be desired. Two of the towels folded on the rack when we checked in were dirty with gray/brown stains, and I nearly fell out of the leather desk chair when the back nearly fell off. This place needs some TLC! The WiFi was not fast enough for satisfactory Netflix browsing either. The breakfast provided was good, the room was comfortable, and there is an EV charger at the Canadian Tire directly across the street, all positives. The worst part by far was the noise - I woke up both nights due to the noise from the hallway. The doors and walls must be paper thin. I would stay here again, but not for the price I paid.

    « Late arrival »

Stayed at Best Western Kincardine Wed. 10-4. Checked in very late, 1am. Front desk helpful, room near the front door and clean. We had a peaceful nights sleep, then on the road by 10. Breakfast was good. Eggs, bacon, potatoes , etc. would recommend and go back.

« My favorite Kincardine Hotel »

Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly and effective staff. This is an attractive building, sort of classical "Williamsburg" style, lots of parking space. The restaurant is great, both for a quick buffet breakfast (quality food, choices) and for a nice dinner as well. This is one of the best restaurants in the town. Value is very good.

    « 'PLUS' Poseur... »

Not up to 'Plus'-yet. Staff is a mix of the friendly and the off-hand, officious; multitaskers in evidence.. On check-in with a BW card, did NOT appreciate the 'security deposit' of a $100 required: a low-level motel requirement. Room was large, comfy but a bit dark and dowdy. TV choices were excellent. Breakfast is very basic with ersatz or carby items.. Phone didn't work. Good enough overall - but not a BW 'PLUS - yet. (My other motel card is for Hampton Inns.)

« Relaxing, comfortable, roomy, clean, well appointed, and more. Wasn't disappointed. »

The Best Western Plus Governor's Inn, in Kincardine, is conveniently located at a stop lighted intersection on the main highway, but the speed there is reduced, and the hotel is on an elevated plot, so there is no noticeable road noise. Entry and exit from the hotel is without obstacle or incident. Parking is generous. The hotel appears to have been recently completely refurbished, as there were no signs of wear and tear. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was larger than I expected, well appointed with a larger fridge and armours than I expected. Cleanliness was top rate. Everything shone. The shower did not get the floor wet. The toilet paper was soft! ( You don't get that everywhere! Thank you Best Western. ) Our room included a window that actually opened ( 3rd floor ), though we didn't due to the heatwave. The beds were comfortable. Our experience was quiet and relaxing. The coffee in the restaurant is worth bringing back to the room. ( We didn't have time for breakfast, so can't comment there, nor did we have time to explore the other amenities. ) Checkout staff were friendly and efficient, and sent us off with a smile. I was told that this hotel frequently sells out. Call ahead. We lucked in just stopping on the way.

« Clean Hotel but expensive for services offered »

We are always satisfied with the cleanliness, the staff and the comfort of the beds at Best Western in Kincardine. For the price the hotel could offer amenities such as a pool and hot tub. The breakfast is okay, but does not offer vegetarian items. The coffee and juice is very good. The toaster is a dinosaur!

    « Very Pleasant Stay »

We have stayed in this hotel several times and have recommended it to friends who wanted to stay in the area as well. Staff are accommodating and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is provided and it is very adequate. The hotel is just a short drive from the waterfront and on the highway so is easily accessable.

We used to go to this property annually as a large group, last experience we received horrible service from kitchen to management. Gail was not helpful at all, didn't even follow up after my last email.

« Spent the weekend with family bbq and gathering of the bands »

The staff is great, the rooms very clean and a very nice breakfast hit and or cold your choice. Would stay again. Very easy in and out, close to everything grocery, restaurants arena. It does not have a pool.

    « Very pleasant stay »

We planned our trip to Bruce Peninsula at the last minute and were able to book this hotel for a decent price. The hotel is an hour from Sauble Beach and 2 hours from Tobermory, but it worked great for us because of the affordable stay. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Will give them 5* for their service. Overall, great value for money!!!

« Hotel is in need of a makeover »

this hotel needs to make the rooms much more modern in order to compete with others in the area. We stayed at Govern's Inn with friends and we all said next time we would pick a more modern hotel in the area

  • 5
    « Friendly and Courteous »

Comfort was felt from check-in thru to check-out. Friendly and thoughtful as I arrived and checked in after the restaurant was closed and thoughtfully directed me to local restaurants as I had not eatten and was famished from the travels and sites that I had visited during the day.

« Great hotel in a lovely city »

We spent a weekend in Governor's Inn at Kincardine with a group of friends. This was our first visit to both the city and the hotel, and I have to say we returned amazed ... The Governor's Inn is a great choice for those visiting the area. Plenty of parking room, a small fridge in the room, fascinating water pressure in the shower and a perfect continental breakfast helped making our stay unforgettable.

    « Anniversary Dinner »

We have been dining at the BW restaurant for many years but not so much lately. This was our third visit this year and we were very pleased with our experiences. We shared a salad app and chef kindly gave us individual plates for no extra cost as some places do. Each plate was very tasty and larger than many other places serve. Lots of choices for entree but we both chose pasta. Very well prepared and delicious. Service was excellent. We will be back.

    « Two thumbs up! »

The hotel is clean and breakfast is great! Staff are helpful. Convenient and walkable distance to Sobey's grocery store, Canadian Tire, Tim Horton and Boston Pizza. Also close to Sauble Beach and around an hour from Owen Sound. Highly recommend it!

    « Ok »

Bathroom could have been cleaner, especially behind the door.Room noisy but he ly to be expected as it was next to an outside door. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location perf ct for the trip in to Huron district

    « ***** »

I love the hotel very much. It was very clean and the Staff are very friendly. I love their decorations. One thing, I do not like was the noise in the 3rd floor. It was very noisy until 2 a.m. in the morning. I guess the hotel has poor insulation because we can hear the noise from the 3rd floor and its very disappointing.

    « Weekend in August »

Travelled to Kincardine just for fun and a view of mighty Lake Huron. We were lucky to get the reservation as it was a holiday weekend. BW was efficient and dining room dinner was fabulous. It's well located.

    « Fantastic Stay! »

While this is an older hotel, the rooms are clean and well kept. Bathrooms are definitely updated. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay special. We enjoyed the breakfast and there was a nice selection of hot and cold items to choose from. An extra special touch was the homemade cookies at the front desk. We would definitely stay here again.

    « medium »

ok, not dirty , at least it was clean, breakfast was not the best I have ever had. Hotel in another town was much better at a lower price, better food. It was not the worst I ave ever stayed in. Not the best value

« Great Place to stay »

The Staff is very helpful & professional. The Hotel & facility & location was perfect, Extremely clean rooms & great sleep quality Safe & convenient parking lot. Services & stores across the street. Highly recommended..

    « one night stopover »

Beautiful hotel exceptional washroom and king bed...breakfast was disappointing and the room we stayed in was very noisy during the night...the a/c and room above noise constantly staff was very nice and friendly

    « Cleaning not done »

Refer to previous comments about dirty tub and carpet buckled that should have been repaired and staff that are not thrilled to provide service. The management is not checking rooms daily to ensure they are cleaned to meet expected standards.

« Ok but a little over priced »

Hotel was ok but for the price they should try harder. Room was clean just out dated. The included breakfast was ok but could have used a better coffee service not a machine that pumps out instant coffee on demand.

« Pet Friendly, Close to Amenities »

The hotel was in a great location and pet friendly. The front staff even welcomed my dog with a bag of treats and a poop bag! Everyone was warm and welcoming. There were two weddings the same weekend we stayed and the staff made every effort to accommodate all of the other guests at the hotel.

    « noisy wedding couldn't sleep »

while laying down before going out to an event, because my husband had worked all night, the sound system came on blaring and woke him. Later when we returned from our event at 11:30pm, we couldn't sleep because of the loud music and vibrating floor...we were told by the front end clerk, they had no other rooms and it should go to late.

« Do yourself a favor and stay some place else »

In accurate advertising of hotel, expensive lousy expensive food, rude staff, wish I had never stayed here. IMHO if you advertise something as being "available" and it is not then that is misleading advertising. Then you find out it had been broken for a month and there is no cancellation and no refund, what I am to say. NOT HAPPY

« One problem after another, stay away »

Inaccurate advertising, very pricey, no cancellation, lousy expensive food. Do yourself a favor and stay away.Staff seemed more intent on making me feel stupid and an inconvenience to them.Food was dry, greasy and expensive.

    « Wedding Visit »

My boyfriend and I were in town for a friends wedding and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly, and the rooms clean. Where they lost points is breakfast. The breakfast itself was great with both hot (eggs, waffles) and cold (cereal, yoghurt) options. But, no one told us about it. I had read online that breakfast was included so I asked the receptionist when/where: she made no mention of it prior to me asking. You could easily miss out on it if you didn't know about it ahead of time. So, be aware breakfast is included.

    « Better Than Expected. »

Stayed in room 358 that overlooked the back parking lot, no big deal. I don't really think there would be an awesome view from any room. What is awesome? Many things. Staff, excellent. Friendly, courteous and helpful. Our room had a king bed with two armoires that had plenty of room for clothes to be put in drawers or hung. One armoire had a small fridge and microwave in it. I liked how it was hidden and wasn't just placed against a wall looking obstrusive. We stayed for 2 nights. Cleanliness of the room was impeccable. I am the type to look in the spots that I think that would not have been cleaned consistently and it was clean. Very impressed. The bathroom was very large with lots of counter space. We ate breakfast once and it was certainly enough to get us on our way. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, baked goods. Missed one morning breakfast because the bed was so comfy we just wanted to keep sleeping lol. It is conveniently located across from a Sobeys and just down the street is a Shoppers Drug Mart and LCBO. And only a short 2 minute drive will take you downtown where you can park and enjoy the town with its many shops and restaurants. If we were to return to Kincardine we would definitely stay here again.

« Diamond in the rough »

We made an unexpected stop over in Kincardine and found this beautiful, upscale hotel. It was super clean, beautifully decorated and very luxurious. Staff were great. Food was high quality and beautifully plated. A real treat in an area where many hotels are just basic or damp smelling cottages!

« Reasonable price, decent breakfast »

I spent two nights at the Governor's Inn and it is a very acceptable place to stay, with friendly staff and a decent room with a well-sized bathroom. Everything worked well, although the internet connection seemed more fractious than it needed to be. There is a restaurant in the place but most people seem to go out to town for dinner to enjoy the waterfront. These days, hotels compete to provide a good breakfast with lots of variety and this is a good offering. The hot breakfast included scrambled eggs with sausages. The eggs were good, but I would not recommend the sausages, bacon would be a better option, for me at least.

« great place to stay »

this hotel is equally suitable for your personal or business trip. clean rooms, friendly staff, quiet nights. plenty of parking space and across the street from a well-stocked grocery store. the hotel is an older building and newer builts in the area might have a bit more to offer for the same price

    « Great location,super staff »

We stayed for one night and had a great stay - just minutes from the beach and the downtown. Very clean, staff go out of their way to be helpful. We had a nice quiet stay with our dogs and it's a great town for hiking-lots of trails and lots of pet friendly.

« Nice place, nice people »

A pleasant stay, convenient location with many amenities near-by. Reception people very friendly, helpful. A nice comfortable mattress, quiet and restful night. An improvement to the powdered eggs offered at breakfast would make it an excellent value for the stay.

« Sunday Mothers Day Brunch »

Reservation for 1:00 that's all they had for time. Food was cold. Trays fairly empty. There wasn't enough desert for 7 people. Couldn't believe 24.95 per person. The last visit. Retired and on fixed income and this is what you get. Should of gone to Jeans Kitchen. No buffet but always great breakfast.

    « Kincardine "Kaper" »

Very enjoyable stay in Kincardine. The Governor's Inn is a pleasant place to stay. There is a beautiful flowering tree in the entrance to the hotel, making it very attractive. The service is good and there were no surprises. The only downside might be the noise from people walking around in the room above us. This did stop at a reasonable time; so did not cause any problems. The meal we had had at the Inn was most likely the best I have had in some time. The presentation was beautiful and set the mood for the excellent taste of the food. The chef is obviously a "gem." and a great asset to the Inn. I dealt with the hotel staff on a few occasions prior to arrival and found them to be very professional and helpful. I was quite impressed as this is not always the case with front of house staff.

« Weekend getaway off to a great start »

For our Easter weekend, we jumped into the car on Good Friday and headed out along backroads looking for conservation areas that we hadn't ever visited. Late in the day we started looking for a place to spend the night. The Governor's Inn in Kincardine came up on TripAdvisor and I'm glad we chose this hotel. It was lovely and quiet and the breakfast in the morning was satisfying and sustained well. We will certainly return to this hotel.

« Great place to stay. Clean, convenient and friendly staff. »

Great place to stay. Clean, quiet, convenient , and friendly staff. I would recommend to anyone staying in Kinkardine to think of staying here when visiting. The beach area is also a nice place to spend a day or two or three.

« Late Winter Visit to Kincardine »

The hotel is older -I would guess 1970 or 80's.It has the most wonderful collection of vintage furniture in its public areas. Our room was adequate for our needs though when all was quiet you could hear footsteps but in the night it was very quiet. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had dinner at the restaurant which was superb. The chef even came and checked on us. Again the staff was very attentive. The side entrance was accessible and an elevator was available. We did not have the accessible room so I can not comment on it.

« Great place for the region »

One of the best Bestwesterns I've stayed at . Clean ,comfortable and quiet! The price is a bit steep but you get what you pay for. Will be staying there again in May.As I have business in the area again.

This review is for the Restaurant at Best Western in Kincardine. Another couple and ourselves dined at this restaurant within the past week. All four of us ordered different entrees as well as appetizer or salad/soup and everyone was very impressed with their meals. The menu is a new one for the hotel and the chef did an excellent job on all dishes. Tub chairs were totally comfy and we were not rushed out the door after eating as can sometimes happen even in "classy" venues. We would not hesitate to go back or to recommend this restaurant to others.

    « fall Bike Ride »

My husband and I ride a Harley and We stayed there on a ride up to South Hampton Thanksgiving Weekend in 2012 and our stay was great! we had access to computer etc. Hospitality was super and room was very clean we enjoyed it so much we stopped there on our way back also!! We have been in the area often every year it is a very scenic area to visit Ontario has very much to offer

« Nice place to stay »

My Recent business trip stay at the best Western was very nice. Older hotel, usual amenities, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included with the price of the room. Staff was attentive and friendly. I would stay again.

« Home away from home »

With new and more cookie-cutter hotels popping up in Kincardine ON, it's nice to know the Governor's Inn is still in business! The staff is awesome, very welcoming, and the hotel is comfy and cosy. While in the restaurant, I overheard a couple of locals say, "this restaurant is Kincardine's best kept secret. I'm glad they don;t advertise more". It's true, the restaurant is fine home cooking! Best spaetzle with mushroom gravy I've ever had (sorry Mom)!

« Work trip - not much around »

This hotel was sufficient for work, but I would not say suitable for family travel. Most of the guests at breakfast appeared to be here on business. Breakfast......not great. Awkward set up as seen in the photo.

    « No breakfast »

We chose the Best Western for a last minute one day trip to Kincardine. The foyer was empty. The one staff member on duty was new to the job - it took us nearly half an hour to get signed in after she had called for assistance. By this time there were two or three other staff members at the desk. The room assigned to us as we travel with our poodle was adequate but outdated - the huge "fine art" on the wall was overwhelming for a relatively small room. The bed was comfortable. However, the only time we realized that breakfast was included was when we drove away in the morning and happened to see the huge sign on the top of the building "free breakfast included". At no time did any of the staff members mention to us that breakfast was included when we signed in, nor when we booked on the telephone. We were the only guests checking in at that time. We did not see any mention in the room either. Surely it was the duty of the reception staff to make sure guests were aware of all the hotel facilities. We ate breakfast in town.

« Wonderful people and service »

Very clean and comfortable place to stay. We had a very comfortable room but wished that they had King size beds. The bed other than being small was comfy. There was a fridge and micro. We enjoyed the on site restaurant where the food was fabulous! Probably the best artichoke dip we have ever had! We also had Lamb and steak, both of which were also fabulous. The chef Peter even came out to talk to us and shared the recipe for his artichoke dip. We had the breakfast in the morning which was included in the room price. It was fresh and hot. Great job by all at this hotel. Would recommend A stay here anytime. Thanks.

    « Friendly and consistent »

The Governor's Inn is clean and comfortable. The rooms are well equipped. The building is noisy, with creaky flexible floors and banging room doors and furniture doors. Voices carry. Simple but very good breakfast is included.

    « Comfortable »

Clean, nicely decorated hotel with comfortable beds. Not too much road noise. The staff were great, very approachable and accommodating. Great breakfast choices. This hotel suited my young family. We would stay here again.

« I had a great night at the Best Western Inn »

It was my first time in the area and I initially tried to get into the Holiday Inn but it was fully booked so the Best Western was my next choice and I am glad I went there. It was quiet and peaceful and I had supper in the restaurant the quality of my supper was exceptional. Thanks for making my stay so very nice.

    « Nice »

We stayed in Kincardine Best Western Plus Governors Inn for 2 days for a baseball tournament. The staff very friendly and would go out of their way to accommodate requests.Breakfast provided was very good, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries ,waffles, toast, muffins, cold cereal, apple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, bananas apples,so there was plenty to choose from.Rooms a little small, but nicely decorated and clean ,beds comfortable. We would stay here again

« THE place to stay in Kincardine »

Charming and clean, with an amazing staff. The restaurant is a hidden gem in Kincardine. It's like a home away from home. Although there is no pool, the Davidson Centre is a safe walk just down the road. AMAZING new splash pad and climbing structures. In the summer, with Station Beach a short drive away, I would not consider another accommodation in Kincardine.

« Best Western Plus Governor's Inn, Kincardine, Ontario »

Staff were very professional and eager to assist in any way they could. However, we paid $20 to have my pug puppy stay with us. We were not allowed to leave her in the room crated so that we could go into the hotel restaurant for dinner or breakfast. There was no table in the room so we couldn't eat dinner there. We were forced to leave the hotel, with the dog, and find a place with a patio that would permit dogs. We had breakfast in our room but, as stated above, there was no table so we had to eat with our plates on our knee. The dog was not on any of the furniture, she was walked outside and we couldn't even leave her in her crate. What was the $20 fee for? Furthermore, if you require dogs to be walked "in the lane out back", the grass needs to be cut. My dog couldn't go into the grass to do her business because the grass was too deep. I was also very worried that ticks could be living in the grass and humans are affected by them as well as animals. Most disappointing experience as we have stayed in other Best Western Hotels with our pup and have never had such an experience. Won't stay here again.

    « Second Booking »

I recently stayed here while visiting friends at nearby Inverhuron Beach. This is an adorable hotel with friendly, accommodating staff. The rooms are charmingly dated, clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast has a great variety! In the quaint town of Kincardine, you won't find better value for your money than The Best Western Plus Governer's Inn. Happy travels!

    « Not what's expected »

Lack of maid service left me with dirty towels for the week. Staff were busy arguing with themselves over who should check me in rather than providing quality service. Phone did not work properly in the room and WiFi was not accessible during the entire stay.

« Best Western- excellent experience »

My husband and I have stayed at a variety of hotels over the last few years of travelling and we both agreed that the BW Kincardine was superior- from the friendly staff to the clean comfortable room- it was little touches like the shampoo dispensers in the shower that made this stay one of our best!

    « could do better-easily! »

Generally speaking very good but the lack of a microwave in the room would be a deal breaker for me next time seeing other hotels make that provision. Clearly this is an easy fix and the cost to the hotel could be quickly recouped by a few dollars on the price of the room. The extra amenity would make a big difference to the overall experience as it provides a major convenience.

    « best western »

Business trip to Kincardine area. This is an excellent choice, nice friendly staff and quiet hotel. very clean room comfortable bed. nice to have breakfast and free wifi included at a very reasonable price. Thanks

    « BW Govenors inn »

Overall - good value for money. Unreliable email checkout. Staff are friendly. Easy walk to local shopping, and the boardwalk is pleasant for an evening stroll. Area appears to have local community investment shows. I will likely bring may family to this spot for a weekend outing..

    « Great Experience »

Staff very helpful and informative. We used our Best Western Travel Gift Cards in the restaurant and had a fantastic meal. Great location - walk-able to city center. Room was clean and quite comfortable.

« A good value if you aren't traveling on business. »

The property itself is pretty clean and close to downtown, the lake and restaurants. The walls seem pretty thin as there's a lot of noise from the hallway and floors above. I was upgraded to the executive suite which is very nice and comfortable, considering the noise conditions already mentioned. The wifi is completely unreliable. If you're coming here on business and rely on internet access you will be disappointed with frequent drops, IP conflicts and the inability to connect at all. Didn't try the restaurant but The Bruce on Queen Street is highly recommended. If you don't need internet access this is a pretty decent hotel. If you're here on business you might want to consider the new Marriot TownPlace suites across the street.

« Walls are paper thin »

The hotel looks nice and staff are friendly bu the walls are paper thin and I was woken up at 330 until 5 am due to the neighbouring room conducting some "exercise". When checking out staff admitted that this was a regular complaint.

We had originally booked at the Knights Inn but once we saw our room and the lobby et we knew we could not stay there!!! Checked in to the Best Western and the staff was great and very accommodating. We had our two small dogs with us and they put us on a ground floor room with easy access to the outside for the dogs.

    « Ok Hotel. Overpriced. »

Got a room here because we were visiting family in the area over the holidays. The hotel seemed deserted, however, rates were still high. Room was small, yet cozy. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. The hotel seemed quiet, again we were the only ones there. The downside was the cleanliness of the room was an issue. The carpet needed to be vacuumed as we found toenail clippings around the room. Gross!!!! Only stay here if the holiday inn across the street is booked.

    « Excellent all around »

Just stayed there last night for the first time. The room was very clean, the bed was excellent, very peaceful and well kept. All the staff was great, breakfest which was included was very good also. Best rate in the area and will always stay there when passing through on business or pleasure in the future. Kevin Armstrong

    « Great Hotel! »

We recently stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed it. We were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious, the bed very comfortable. I also really appreciated Best Western's efforts to be green by allowing you the option to have your linens changed as needed each day.We were entitled to a breakfast each morning but did not have any as we had made other plans, however the buffet looked quite appetizing. We would stay again gladly...a good experience.

« Amazing staff and hotel »

The staff are amazing and accommodating. We were there for Corporate business and they were always accommodating to our needs. They were always polite and helpful. The buffet for breakfast was ok. Wish there was more pineapple always ran out. But otherwise plentiful. Clean rooms and great service

« Very nice hotel - definitely recommend »

I stay here whenever I have business at the nearby power plant. The hotel has just undergone renovations and looks very nice. My rate included a hot breakfast. You can also order off the menu. The food quality was very good. There is an exercise room but I did not use it on this stay. Free wifi was adequate and worked fine. TV provides about 50 channels of local and network and cable selections. Overall, the room was very nice, clean and functional. There is ample parking in front and out back with a rear lot entrance that locks at midnight. The elevator is located by the rear entrance. The room is equipped with a microwave and mini fridge which I stocked from the local Sobeys grocery store across the street. There's also a Tim Hortons, Boston Pizza and other Restaurants very close by. Gas stations also are less than a mile away.

    « A comfortable stay »

The Governor's Inn is a very comfortable place to stay in Kincardine. The staff is very friendly and we had no problems during our stay. The location is convenient to the highway and some amenities, but you have to drive to the beach and the downtown section of the town.

« Should Be Renamed: WORST WESTERN MINUS »

I checked in on August 24th and stayed one night. The bathroom had been updated and the mattress was great but furniture horrible. Room smelled like a wet dog when we opened the door. Luckily I had some spray and the window opened so we were able to get rid of the smell. Sit on the couch and you are almost on the floor. Bad springs! Offers free Internet but we had service for maybe 3 minutes total during the 16 hours were were there. (I note that other reviewers have had similar problems.)They kept rebooting the routers but it did no good. Not enough Internet service for a hotel when people now carry multiple devices. Like the furniture, it was OK in the 1990's but this is 2015. Night clerk was very nice but busy fielding complaints about the internet. . . . . Two while I was standing at the front desk and I overheard another when I called the front desk and was asked to wait a minute. Next morning the manager denied there was any problem. I mentioned the problem to one of the housekeeping staff and she said: "Yes, they have been having a lot of complaints." Breakfast was great and the lady handling it made sure everyone was satisfied. She did a great job and the food was tasty. When I did the Best Western review, Gail, the manager, answered and claimed there were only 2 complaints. Oh well! I personally heard 3 plus mine. Maybe the staff doesn't report them because they know nothing will happen. Worst hotel I have been in for many years. I am retired and stay in hotels 40 to 50 nights a year. I usually find Best Western Plus Hotels to be good. This is certainly the exception. If you are going to stay in Kincardine, do yourself a favor and stay at another hotel.

    « Not the best »

We found it over priced for what we got. The front desk girl was not helpful. The wi fi in our room would not let me on my I pad. We were tired from driving most of the day, so wanted to eat in. There was nothing appealing to us on your menu and it was expensive. There were no restaurant names or numbers to call out for delivery. The mattress was very hard. We have stayed at other Best Westerns, this was the worst.

    « It was okay »

The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable .What I do not understand H I left a note about the towels ( I put them in the tub as I did not want anyone to slip on the floor ) and left a tip I came back an one hour later and the towels and tip were gone but the room was not cleaned . I had left the card on the bed so that sheets did not have to be changed Bath mats for the shower might be a good idea as I slipped and this was a reason for very wet towels .I was in #225 I also had mold in the bar fridge and it was quickly looked after as the guest before had unplugged the fridge .
