    « A welcome stop »

We stayed here a number of years ago but this visit we noticed a vast improvement. The room was spotless and the shower had a much better flow. Wayne who now runs the motel was most friendly and helpful as indeed were other staff we met. The grounds could perhaps benefit from a tidy up.

    « Great room for a 2 night stay »

Great location and perfect stay for 2 nights. Checking in and out was really easy, the staff were really nice and the rooms were clean. The only disappointing thing was the bed was really uncomfortable. Close to all the local attractions and there is a nice restaurant next door.

    « Nice and tidy »

Greeted nicely by Wayne at reception. We checked in for a one night stopover in a family room. The room was a great size with separate bedroom for the the main bed. Neat, tidy and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the heating was adequate. No noticeable noise from the main road.

    « Not impressed »

Upon arrival I was bluntly greeted asked for cc and then given a key with feeling rather not welcome. Also the fact that this hotel advertise cable TV and in room safe which they had neither. When calling front desk to ask for some ice there was no answer. Even after going to reception the same thing happened no answer and no one attending to guests. I ended up having to go to the service station across the road. All in all won't stay again.

« Good standard accommodation ok for a 2 night stay. »

Good sized room, clean & comfy. The chap on reception was friendly & efficient. The room was warm even though it was chilly outside. We found the fixed opening in the bathroom window let in too much cold air.

« Outside needs a spruce up to make it attractive, but rooms are fine. »

Booked via an on-line booking site and arrived late in the afternoon. Check-in was easy, and a choice of rooms offered. Have stayed here before (May 2014) so selected same ground floor room. We liked our room (a King room), it was spacious with a king size bed, clean and comfortable, no traffic noise, smallish en-suite. Now if they can just get that (still) noisy en-suite exhaust fan fixed............. The motel is located overlooking the the highway, near the Katoomba turnoff but easy to miss, There's plenty of parking here but the grounds need attention and the place is looking tired outside - only three other rooms were occupied when we stayed, it was a Wednesday night. Anyway it suited us for one night but we may try elsewhere next time if we are staying longer. And 4 stars ?????

    « Pleasantly surprised »

We booked a room for 4adults requiring a queen and 2 singles. I thought we would get on large room and was very pleasantly surprise to find a lovely family room with 2 bedrooms and plenty of space. The manager was very helpful and a good restaurant next door. It took a while to find the place as the address is on the highway but entry is on the side street. Would recommend a stay here.

« Comfortable but needs some TLC »

We chose this place due to cost factor and it had some great reviews on Trip Advisor. The bed was comfortable, there was a lot of stains on the carpet but apart from that, it did the job nicely. The air con worked well which kept us warm after a freezing day in the mountains. There is also breakfast available at an additional cost. We checked out early so did not use this service, but looked reasonably priced. The reception staff was friendly and helpful, overall a great experience. If you are after a 4 or 5 star motel, this is not the place for you. If you are just looking for somewhere to crash at the end of a day's hike without all the bells and whistles, then this place is perfect. Just a tip to the staff - no one likes International Roast coffee, it may be cheap for you to stock, but little details like this can make a difference in satisfaction.

« Still a great place to stay »

This was our second stay (1st was same time last year) and it was just as good as the first. The manger has moved on and the owner of the business, Wayne, was managing things. He is a lovely man, very polite and helpful and did a pretty good job of our breakfast on all three mornings, even though he said he was still learning :-) It was bitterly cold (3deg) and a ferocious wind was blowing on two days but we were very cosy and comfortable in our unit. Booked Room 12 again as it is away from the main road and very quiet. We look forward to another visit next year.

    « Blue Mountains »

Great place to stay within walking distance to town centre room was spotless and very quite even though it is situated on the Great Western Hwy staff were very friendly . This is the second time we have stayed there and would stay again

    « Noisy room »

We had a 2 bedroom apartment for my family of 4. Room was clean and there is free WiFi. It's a short 3min drive to the village centre. The friendly gentlemen at the reception gave us tips on where to go for dinner. However the main bedroom is noisy as it is facing the main road and kept us up the whole night.

    « A very pleasant surprise »

I had seen some neg reviews , but we decided to stay the night & were very surprised. Room was clean, cosy & large, very quiet, great value for money. We were warmly greeted by reception. Will def return

    « Clean and comfortable »

Room was clean and spacious. The hotel is very easy to find and only a stones throw from the Main Street of katoomba. The man (possible the generals manager) on reception was delightful and very helpful and accommodated our late arrival. Highly recommend for a short stay or over nighter.

    « Clean and Comfortable »

The motel location is perfect if you have a car. It's quite close to other Blue Mountains towns. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good. The manager and staff were really helpful and friendly. Free parking and free Wifi.

« Good motel for the price range »

Motel has some rooms which are newly renovated but even the older furniture is well looked after. The family rooms are well sized and sleep 4 comfortably. Bathrooms are shower only and because the whole property has less steps, it's more friendly for the older family members. You can request for toaster +/- microwave if available. Location is pretty good, not far from Katoomba or the train station. 5min walk to the hospital. Staff are very helpful (Ian always has a smile on his face!). We also saw them organise an in-room microwave for another guest who was staying for 5 days. My family had a good stay there and we will stay with them again in the future.

« Both Good and Not So Good »

The good aspects of this inn are that it is very clean, the heating and the flat screen TV work well, and the staff are friendly. However, the room is quite musty smelling and the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Our keycard (key to the room) also stopped working and luckily there was someone at the desk at night to fix the problem! Not very convenient if you don't have a car-about 15 minutes walk from Katoomba station. But we didn't mind the walk:). There is a bus stop nearby and if you time it correctly, you can take a bus to Leura, or walk there in about 25 minutes.

    « Leisure »

Stay at Best Western Alpine for 2 days, likes the room very much as it is very spacious for 4 person. Location is also good, about 5 mins drive to the town (Katoomba). The bar & grill restaurant is worth a try but was disappointed with their desserts.

    « Good basic motel »

The was a comfortable motor inn with friendly and helpful staff. The bed provided a good sleep (which is what we were after) but the furnishings were a bit tired and the half flush on the toilet did not work (room 10). It is a little way out of Katoomba town (15 min walk)

    « Satisfied »

I had a very comfortable week stay at the Best Western Alpine Motor Inn whilst on locum work down the road. The hotel manager is the friendliest manager I have ever met; he was incredibly helpful, attentive and reliable. He went out of his way to accommodate my stay. There is definitely a 1970s vibe from the outside of the motel but the rooms are modern let furnished. The space was more than adequate, the bed firm yet comfy and the bathroom well maintained. The rooms was services everyday and amenities replenished when needed. The water pressure wasn't great and there was a constantly opened window at the top of the bathroom which couldn't be closed so very drafty. There were row aircon units in the room which were needed considering the cold snap which hit. Ample parking onsite. A five minute drive from the centre of Katoomba and 5 minute walk from the Blue Mountains Hospital. The highway was a little noisy at night but it didn't bother me, it may for some people. Wifi (free) was fantastic, great speed and connection though it did drop out one night until the following afternoon. I didn't try the restaurant or room service, both available and reasonably priced. Overall satisfied with my stay, I felt very comfortable and had minimal to complain about :) would recommend to a friend and stay again if on locum up there in Katoomba!

    « stay »

great place to stay it was clean and a quite motel which had all that we required for our stay price was great staff very helpful great location restaurant and bar was excellent good food good prices .

    « Very good accommodation »

We had two rooms; although rooms were small; they were both neat, clean and tidy. Location was very convenient and easy to find. Daily room service and all basic amenities were provided. Overall no complaints and a very good stay. I will stay there again. I will recommend this accommodation. Manager was very welcoming and helpful too.

« Clean and comfortable and affordable room »

The Manager Ian was very friendly ad helpful , the rooms are very clean and comfortable and very affordable with free WiFi and tea and coffee , the Bar and Grill next to the hotel does serve excellent food. I will be staying here again on my next visit to Katoomba . Thank you Ian.

    « Very tired »

Very convenient to katoomba and shops..a few mins by car. Tired rooms look like need a bit of a scrub up. Reception not v helpful. Restaurant on grounds and some very lovely shops and restaurants in nearby leura

    « Great value »

This little motel came as a bit of a surprise for us on our trip. We were just looking for somewhere to lay our heads on our last night in the blue mountains before heading to Newcastle so we booked something cheap but with reasonable reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. The massive king bed was just nice and comfortable, the room was huge, and the staff were very friendly. The bed, while firm, was still comfortable and we got a good night sleep. The staff member who checked us in (which I believe was the manager) was very friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. There was a little bit of traffic noise from the road, but it was faint and not intrusive at all. The decor in the rooms was a bit old but you don't really stay in a motel room for the decor. Bathroom was ample for two people. Water pressure was hit and miss but ok. Aircon worked perfectly and was nice and quiet. Overall we were quite happy with the place.

    « Comfortable room »

The room was clean and a good size, close to downtown Katoomba and Leura. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom well appointed with a good shower. The on-site restaurant was very good and reasonable. We had a very pleasant 3 night stay.

    « Pleasant »

Good sized room, with lounge, table and chairs, lovely king size bed very comfortable.. Good hot showers. Convenient to facilities in Katoomba. Easy access in and out at traffic lights.Would recommend.

    « First Impressions »

As I drove up to the motor in my frown turned upside down as the outside to me was not appealing as it looks like it needs a reno. Although my smile returned once inside the rooms as they are clean, comfortable and in good repair. The motor in is only about a five minute drive max to the centre of Katoomba.

« A Tad Far, But Reliable Facility »

For a no-frills stay in Katoomba, pick Alpine Motor Inn. You'll have to walk a bit to get to the mouth of the streets that run into the blue mountains. Or if you have a hop-on hop-off bus ticket - you can walk to the previous stop (across the road) and take advantage of that. The facility looks like a typical motel - mid-sized, basic rooms and a largely comfortable bed.

    « Noisy highway »

This hotel is really a motel beside a busy highway. This motel is tired and in need of an upgrade. It seems that nothing has been changed since it first opened, probably in the 1970's. The bathroom was tiny. Nowhere to put toiletries or clothes. The shower was hot then suddenly cold, then scalding hot again. Internet was spotty. Probably the worst part was the wakeup call at around 6am. The trucks and cars going by on the highway was very loud. At least the linen was clean. There was a flatscreen TV. Our room had tea and coffee in packs, a fridge, a kettle, 2 saucers, 2 cups and 2 spoons and a toaster. A microwave is available upon request. Given the choice, we would stay at another location. Although central to Katoomba and Leura with a car, it was too noisy .

    « Good motel »

My room was facing the highway - the soundproofing & double glazing kept out most of the sound. The room was functional , comfortable & spotlessly clean. Staff friendly & helpful Very good value traditional motel

    « Good motel »

I have stayed here twice and found it to be a good clean motel . The food from the restaurant is good if not a tad overpriced but that's the norm pretty much everywhere. Also if you don't feel like spending up on a meal there's a BP service station only across the road that is a new upgraded stn with a decent selection of food . I have no hesitation in recommending this motel.

    « It's okay »

Not a bad hotel as such. The rooms are modern and clean and the staff are very friendly. My bed was on slightly on the hard side but the pillows were nice. I was awoken early due to the trucks on the highway, but I suppose that is a problem for all hotels situated on a highway. All in all not a bad hotel, but it's relatively cheap for what you get.

« Hotel close to Katoomba Centre »

The room was comfortable and had a kettle and toaster. The wi-fi worked well and there was plenty of parking. It is a bit expensive and breakfast was not included. It is on the main road and could here the traffic noise. Ask for a room on the other side.

« room clean but nothing special »

motel on highway bit away from everything but ok for 1 or 2 nights we had a room with a spa bath which was out of order it looked like it had been out for some time There is a very good eatery next door which saves you having to drive to Katoomba bed was comfy room clean so ok for a short stay

    « Nice clean accomodation. »

Room was adequate. Desk clerk was pleasant, informative and humourous (but don't quit your day job). He advised us of the many activities in the area. Hotel was located across the Great Western highway from the town of Katoomba. While the walk was not that far, it was inconvenient. Not recommended for older folks but parking cost you in town so weigh it out. Beds were clean and comfortable. Shower had hot water and adequate flow. Room was a decent size. No microwave. Stayed two days, maids did the minimum. There was no elevator, so if you need first floor ask. My opinion, should have been closer to $100 a night, that's why I gave only 3 stars, value for money.

« Spacious, clean and friendly »

Our room was spacious, newly decorated and meticulously clean. The motorway "view" from the window is not enticing, but the double glazing successfully blocked any potential traffic noise. The air-con is quiet and efficient and there is good water pressure in the shower. Continental breakfast (in the room) was fine, with high quality tomato juice being a nice touch. The host is friendly and pleasant. My only criticism is the price, which seems on the high side unless you grab a deal (which we did). I would happily return, but not for full asking price.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Spent 3 nights here unexpectedly as we had a family emergency with one member hospitalised nearby. Rooms obviously renovated and were great. The 2 double beds were great in Room 8 Very clean and bathroom was great too. Had a noisy couple next door - could hear them yelling at each other Double glass windows were great protection from the hustle and bustle on the main highway. Would have liked to see a bit more of kitchenette, particularly as we were carless and having to commute to the hospital every day. Manager friendly and accommodating. Restaurant on site was very average which is such a shame. With lots more TLC and an inventive chef, it could do very well. Would definitely stay again, though I am not generally looking for this type of accommodation.

    « Extremely comfortable »

I have been driving past this motel for many years and finally had the opportunity to stay a night. The motel is right on the highway and it easy access for Sydney bound traffic. West bound traffic access was via a traffic light controlled intersection about 100 metres before the motel. The room I had was extremely spacious and comfortable with quality fitting and a super quiet air conditioner. The only negative for my room was the spa out of action awaiting repairs. There is a very good steak restaurant in the front corner of the motel. I cannot really assess the value of the tariff as the last time I stayed in Katoomba I was in the maternity ward.

    « Very good for a motel »

I'm more of a 5 star hotel traveller but this place was pretty good at budget level. The free wifi was great connection and speed, room faced main road but no traffic noise, bed was comfortable and clean, room was spacious, if you are self driving blue mountains, this is very close to main katoomba road where all good restaurants are. Only 1 downside with room was the bathroom has windows that remains ajar permanently, this makes the bathroom very very cold at night, especially when 1 degree outside. Recommend to take throngs to wear on cold tile floor in bathroom at night.

    « Excellent »

The manager is a lovely gentleman and goes out of his way to make sure everything is perfect. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. There is leased restaurant there, but would not recommend.

« Norman Bates eat your heart out. »

Apart from first impressions that you are entering Bates Motel, it was a pleasant surprise. Dated, but clean rooms, double glazed windows to cut out the road noise. Comfortable bed and a rather jovial host. Location a little out of mainstream township but okay for exploring the Blue Mountains.

    « Katoomba Icon »

The Alpine Motel has been our choice of motels for a number of years now. It is always well maintained, rooms are very generous in size and housekeeping is immaculate. Recently new door locks have been introduced and some rooms have new carpet and have been painted. New Neon sign on roof. Manager Ian is most welcoming and very professional. Congratulations to all.

« Best of the Best Westerns »

Booking into room 15 top floor we were greeted with a very clean and comfortable room. as the hotel is just on the edge of Katoomba city center it was reasonably quiet considering it is on the main road. The manager was only too willing to help with our questions and knowledgable on where to go for food and sightseeing. We would highly recomend staying here for price and location Eating down at the Rosewood Cottage Bar & Grill at the bottom of the drive was convienient and priced maybe on the highside of average. I wouldnt recomend the chicken boscaiola as it was extreamly salty. our other meal was Scotch fillet diann sauce. cook correctly and tasty. Our experience leaves us below average and would look elsewhere in future. note this was not recomended by the hotel manager so I can't blame him.

« Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. »

My husband and I stayed two nights here (24th & 25th July) and were very happy with our stay. Missed the snow by a week but still found it chilly coming from Qld! Electric blankets and reverse cycle air con meant we were warm and snug when inside. We stayed in Room 12, after reading reviews on this site re noise, and were not bothered at all. Room was clean and comfortable and staff friendly (Ian) and helpful. Free wifi was frustratingly slow though. We had dinner at Rosewood Cottage Bar and Grill next door and while not cheap the food was very good and location convenient. Will definitely be staying again.

« Decent, clean and just what we needed. »

The Alpine Best Western is just outside of the Katoomba main centre, but is only an easy 10-15 minute walk away. It is easily found and accessed by car, as it is just off the main road. We stayed on the ground floor in unit 1. The room was decent and clean, with air-con, a TV, free wifi, electric blankets and a small fridge. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and nicely dressed, but the rest of the room was a little dated. The price was good, and it was a good comfortable visit. The manager was friendly and made us feel very welcomed. We would visit here again, as we were pleased with our stay.
