« Great location for good food and relaxation »

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights, combining a trail run on the Grand Ballon with a visit to Colmar. The hotel has a wonderful calm location middle in the nature. The rooms are of excellent quality with a balcony, with a large bathroom and separate toilet. The spa, the pool and the outside area are very good. And maybe the best part, was the quality of food: really excellent. Price per night is relative high for such a hidden hotel in the woods, but it includes the use of the spa and pool, and you get a lot back for it.

« Excellent food and ambience but average service »

The hotel is situated at the edge of the forest in a calm spot. The rustic style of the main house is nicely combined with the (2007) added spa area and additional guest wing. The food was excellent and I would return just for dinner. An area to improve however is the service. Orders get forgotten, smiles are missing and you don't get their attention when needed.

    « wonderful stay »

This hotel it's a great combination of lovely nature, excellent meal (we had two dinners at gourmet restaurant and every time it was great meal), relaxing atmosphere and amazing spa area. It offers a great variety of baths, saunas etc. If you come here with your dog, it's a right place as there are a lot of green around of the hotel area. The only what i would recommend to enhance is to put some additions to breakfast buffet. like for example some soya drinks/yogurts, more variety of goat cheese, a bit more selection of bread and some part of vegetables. would come again.

« Very nice and relaxing experience »

My wife and I made a two days / night excursion. The Hotel - Spa is set in a hilly and dense forest area with a nice open view. There are various buildings offering different room styles. The main building contains the spa, the "brasserie" and the "gourmet" restaurant. The bedrooms in this building are of "alsacien style": warmly welcoming as clothed with wood and rich tissues offering a nice atmosphere that can be enriched with a romantic wood fire in a closed chimney. The area is very calm completing the high quality bedding in securing a very resting sleep. The "brasserie" offers a reduced but well balanced offer of dishes. Worth to mention are the Thai salade and the raviolis with truffle. The champagne rose was perfect. The spa offers a large variety of baths, saunas, jacuzzis which access is included in the room scope. You can complete the whole with a series of treatments (beauty, well-being) offered by the local team (reservation required). The "gastronomic" restaurant is worth the stay. The fois-gras is delicious and presented in a unique and very original way. The rest of the dinner was continuous delight. The breakfast buffet is an experience on its own with a large variety of high quality products. The staff we met were all friendly and attentive to our needs, sometime anticipating them. We will repeat.

« Great hotel, lousy Brasserie. Close to Basel. »

Just spend 1 night from 1/1 to 2/1 in Les Violettes. Didn't expect a lot, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is not exactly super luxurious and the room was slightly run down, but what the hotel misses on modern hightech luxury, it certainly has in "ambiente" and cosyness. And the room was big and clean and well functioning. We went to the Spa and that was also a nice surprise. The pool (ind-door/out-door) was fairly big and invited for a swim. (The heated water was maybe a bit too cold for my taste, but I also like it very warm). And the sauna's were super and well kept. When we went to dinner at the Brasserie the good impression was spoiled !!! In the beginning we were the only guests but soon it became quite full. At least the waitress had enough to do. This meant that we were kept waiting quite a lot (on water, then on the wine). We ordered two cheeseburgers, one normal, one well-well done. When they finally arrived they were both medium rare. So one went back to the kitchen. Then we waited for another 25 mins till the burger came (meanwhile mine was cold), ... again medium rare !! The waitress saw the problem and took it back to the kitchen. She then announced that we would get two new burgers. After having waited for another 30 mins she came to our table and told us that it was not possible for the kitchen to make the burgers (although other guests was served burgers!!!). Would we like to have our dessert ?!!!!!??? What kitchen can't make a burger well-well done ??? How difficult can that be?? Anyway.... we went to bed hungry, but the breakfast the next day was actually quite nice. All in all we had a very good impression of the hotel and a nice Spa hotel less than 50 mins from Basel is great. We may wanna come back to the hotel and try the Brasserie again as we think it must have been a super off-day for them. At least we hope.

« Great place and great staff but management needs to react ! »

We stayed 3 nights, the room was great and we had dinner every evening at the Brasserie as we had heard after the first evening that service was very slow in the gastronomic restaurant. In the event management reads my comments (and they should), they should give a good raise to the waiter who was all alone for the entire brasserie restaurant and he was very professional despite being late in taking orders and serving everyone. He did it in a way where he managed to keep most of us happy despite the delays. Quality of the food is very good. But clearly he needed to handle some very upset customers who left as they did not want to wait any longer, not his fault but you could guess that the restaurant was understaffed despite a long holiday weekend. On another note, management should make sure that the outdoor pool is available for people to have a swim before breakfast. The first morning was fine but on the second and third morning, the pool shutter had been put for the night and we were told that it had to be retracted by the spa staff which only arrived at 10 am. No possibility for a swim before breakfast which is a great pity as the weather was beautiful. We came mainly to visit the area and to rest and as we wanted to return to the hotel to relax in the afternoon, this was spoiled by 2 church services which were amplified by external loudspeakers from the nearby cathedral and lasted 3 hours each on day 1 and 2. Why impose this to everyone ? If people want to go the the services, they can do so ! We therefore could not relax by the pool and had to stay in our room with the terrace doors shut despite the beautiful weather. Management should negotiate with the church and communal authorities. The hotel deserves to offer quiet and quality to the customers. We would love to come back but will wait to hear that changes have been made to make our stay more relaxing and enjoyable !

« Perfect relaxing weekend away! »

This weekend was just what we needed. It was quiet and relaxing and the food was pretty amazing. To have the spa options and pool to relax in was really great and top class. The rooms look a little dated but still really nice and clean. Looking forward to coming again and exploring more of that local country side.
