We loved staying at the Antea Palace hotel! The staff has been very nice and helpful, we loved eating here, our room had a very beautiful view to the Marmara sea and a nice park. Everyday someone cleaned the room and they were very attentif to our needs. We will defenitly come here next time in Istanbul!

« Very good stay in Istanbuls old town »

Very good and confortable hotel right in the middle of Istanbul's old town. Parking places are available if you come with car, and parking is very hard to find in that area. Very good & professional services & staff. Good breakfast. I recommend this hotel!

« We have an amazing hollyday »

Everything was great since we walked the hotel's doorstep. The hosts have welcomed us and since then all our worries have disappeared and the new one has left us to enjoy the story called Istanbul. I stayed with one wish: to come back here. Ozer abi, Kostence/Romania

    « Fabulous Hotel »

Came here with 10 family members. The stay here has been such a pleasure. Amazing staff who will go and stretch the extra mile for you. Arzu and Yusuf have been extremely professional and both have provided a flawless service for us all. Such an amazing variety at breakfast. We all highly recommend a stay here. Keep up the fantastic work!

    « Average hotle »

Stayed here for one night to get a break from hostel life- the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom dated but comfortable and clean, they provide complimentary 1.5L water per day and the WiFi in my room was excellent. Room got quite warm so it was nice to have an aircon. Unfortunately, both the sauna and the steam room were out of order and the heated indoor pool was cold. I went to use the facilities between 12-3pm which was meant for women only however 5 minutes into going for a swim two workmen walked in and just hovered around making me feel quite uncomfortable so I left. The area itself is a bit out of the way for the big sites in comparison to other places you could stay for the same price or cheaper, although it is all within walking distance. Around the corner there is a wonderful restaurant, Sofia Kebab house, I would highly recommend and they also deliver to the room.

Wounderful stay in Turkey we stayed for 2 weeks at this hotel the children enjoyed the pool and the views from the terrace all the staff were very hospitable having a child in a wheelchair increased the care and attention received from all staff members and management. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be visiting again soon.

« Lovely hotel, great location. »

We stayed at The Best Western Antea Palace for 10 days. The hotel is lovely & clean with a very opulent red & gold decor. The room was a good size for 2 people & was cleaned, with fresh towels & bottled water provided daily. Breakfast was included; it is fresh & plentiful, with the usual cereal, hot & cold Turkish breakfast items, fresh fruit, yoghurt etc. I have coeliac disease, so avoided the processed meats; however, there was plenty of eggs, cheeses, salad, olives etc & gluten free bread was provided when I asked. The hotel is a 10/15 min walk up some cobbled streets to Sultan Ahmet & the Blue Mosque etc. My husband & I don't mind walking & found the hotel pretty central to everywhere we wanted to visit; although the tram line is a 10 min walk away & you can purchase an Istanbul card to travel about. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Antea Palace & were happy with how close we were to everything. A big thank you to Ercan for helping us book a trip & a meal, & to his staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

    « Good Hotel »

As part of my Delta Vacation package, this hotel was included. Lobby was good, elevator was small, room was adequate. I think the shower area was small for me. Breakfast was great! And I was not even expecting breakfast. I hope I called in earlier to schedule a coach hotel pickup. I paid TL 100 for taxi from Istanbul airport to the hotel. And it only cost me EUR 7 for a shuttle pick up from this airport. It is not a fancy hotel, it is value for money. It is a good 15-20 minute walk to the metro. It is not really in the city center. It is in the middle or a residential area. I was entertained by the chubby cats. I love them.

    « Ahmed Makda »

Had an amazing stay, the hotel is located ideally in the old city just a short walk to the many attractions of Istanbul, the staff were professional, helpful and friendly especially Yunus who helped us out with some booking issues. The room we stayed at was perfect for the price, clean and tidy and included complementary tea and coffee. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

    « Overall great experience!!! »

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and for the great service during my Stay. First time visiting Turkey and it was a great experience, starting with the hotel which was located near the old area of Istanbul, walking distance to the most popular places to visit, 10-15 minutes walk, safe neighborhood and very kind people around. Decent hotel, awesomeeeee staff and very accommodating, specially Yunus very well acknowledged, very helpful and thanks to him i was able to visit some beautiful places. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and i had one of the rooms with the best view. Loved the experience and will definitely go back! Thanks and all the best, Elisa :)

« Good VFM hotel in the old city »

BW Antea Palace is a good Value for Money hotel. Well loacted in the old city, it is about 15 min walk to the Blue Mosque. They upgraded our room on arrival which meant a bigger room than what we had booked. The breakfast was very nice and had a nice assortment of cheeses and dried and fresh fruits in addition to the usual spread. The front desk was very helpful (especially Arzoo), and advised us on various options. We also went for dinner in one of the restaurants under the Gallata bridge on their advice, and this included a free pick up and drop from the hotel which was very convenient. All in all, a good value for money stay.

    3
    « very basic »

if you want to be near to old area of Istanbul it can be good otherwise it can't get good point because it's far to public transportation and in a weird place. But nice staffs try to help you aside the poor facilities. free but terribly low speed internet. breakfast is not bad. bathroom is not that clean that you expect. some rooms are beside a crowded and noisy high school.

« All in all, positive »

Have just spent a 7-day stay at this property where all in all, I can say it was a positive experience. It all started on the wrong foot where upon check in we were allocated a standard twin room with two extra beds fitted in, rather than a larger sized family room comprising appropriate space and sleeping facilities for four. Following some convincing we were however allocated the correct room type, following the first night. Breakfast is reasonably good, served by a very attentive team of staff. The level of housekeeping is generally good, even if bathrooms particularly the one in which we spent the first night, need attention. The indoor pool is way too small with spa prices being on the high side, so here we simply did not bother. The hotel itself is located 15mins walk away from the tram station, however once there, connectivity to all areas is very good. Ultimately, a word of thanks to the Team who constantly go out of their way to assist the guests, namely Yunus, Arzu, the young lady with the braids at breakfast and several others, for whom we have only words of praise. From our side, had we to return to Istanbul we will aim to stay in a different area, just for the sake of experiencing different places, however, we do not hesitate to recommend this property to prospective clients.

    « Bad Hotel »

we were group of 10 passengers, the hotel was very bad, the location is so far from metro and bus station,so you have to use the taxi all time.the standard rooms are very small ,dirty hotel &breakfast was not on the terrace,it was in the lobby area, bad smell also

« Good value and excellent location »

I have stayed twice at this hotel in the last two months. It has clean and comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, a good elevator, excellent views from its rooftop restaurant, free sauna, pool and for extra payment - massage facilities. It has a fairly decent bar. The staff are helpful and eager to arrange your tours and transport at reasonable rates. A single room was Euro 80 per night, excellent breakfast included. The hotel is not very easy to approach by car but for walking it is ideally situated, Topkapi and Hagia Sofia are around 20 minutes on foot. A fresh fruit market nearby is not to be missed nor the seafront.

    « A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE »

We Arrived on 24/817 @ approx 2.30am (11people) we had to take our luggage inside ourselves with little help from the bell boy. The rooms were very small view from window was a school. my room's bathroom smelt very bad the other room bathroom shower head & door broken plus flush not working WIFI was non existent breakfast was standard the other 2 rooms bathrooms also smelt . When complained in regards to rooms & WIFI the night duty Manager just shrugged his shoulders (he was very rude & never smiled) 2 rooms was changed the next day but still rooms very small even for standard rooms. On transfer to the airport a 9 seater vehicle was sent for 11 people & luggage, after insisting the vehicle is not sufficient etc... another vehicle arrived 30 mins later (Manager stating if not satisfied with 1 vehicle get taxis at 4:30am in the morning) the waiter was very helpful (on 26/8/17) he organised the other vehicle. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Mr Bhailok

« Great central located hotel with high qualified service »

We, a group of 8 different persons, have been staying there for one week. The rooms were very pleasant and clean, the lobby was big and had a classic romantic style. The location of the is very central ( 10 min. walk to Sultan Ahmed Mosque, 13 min. walk to Sultan Ahmed tram-station). The Hotel staff (especially Arzu, Yunus and Mesut) is very friendly and helpful. They also can speak very fluently English and they give very good advises for daily trips (like Bosporus tour, princess-islands tour and a daily trip to a beach). As a Hotel guest at Best Western Antea Palace you will feel well treated, comfortable and safe.

« Good value for money + location »

Pro's - nice staff - great breakfast - nice view over the sea - nice large Turkish bath - comfortable beds Con's - bedroom wasn't very clean. Still the last guests slippers under the table and lots of dust/dirt on the floor - pool is very small - bar on the rooftop is closed - WiFi is very slow Would recommend for a good value for money and location

    « Bad stay »

So i booked 4 nights stay in Antea Palace and this how it goes: -Had problem with the room service 3 times. First day i ordered food and upon waiting for 45 minutes i followed up and i was just informed that time that the food item was not available. 2nd incident i ordered again a cheeseburger upon receiving it ..It was just a plain burger a plain tasteless burger. So i called room service and asked then where is the cheese they offeref the food to be replaced but i refuse cause it took long already so i just asked for a ketchup . But to my surprise no ketchu available he just answere inshaallah tomorrow we have.3rd incident i called them to have food but no answer. I tried again after 30 mins still no answr and no call back. - Spa lady doesnt understand basic english and doesnt even smile. -staffs i dont know if they have personal problems cause they didnt even bother to smile or greet. -cups inside the room weren't wash still you can see the stain. -breakfast buffet was of limited items though i understand it was just a 4* but the plates and saucerd were on bad condition. Worn out already. -i dont even know if they have a duty manager to check all these things. If ill be giving a rate for this hotel ill give 3/10

    « Excellent »

We stayed in this hotel in April 2017 and the service from the minute we arrived was excellent. Younis the manager was most helpful and the service provided was exceptional and all our needs were taken care of. The hotel is well placed and is just walking distance from grand bazzar and sultanahmet. Would love to stay there again next time I visit. Amazing experience altogether!!

    « Wonderful experience but... »

So this is my second trip though Istanbul and I love it. I stayed at the best western senator last time and was blown away by the rooms, size, location, experience... so when they were booked and I saw the beat western Antea, I figured same thing, right? Well not exactly. The service was better than expected, so amazing and the views were 1000% better, the ocean is so pretty there. But the neighborhood was not the same, didn't feel as safe, and the rooms were not even close. The beds felt old and didn't have a top sheet, just the (very nice) comforter, so we alternated between hot as hell and cold. Had to open the door to even out the temp a bit, but it was nice out and a welcome change in air.... until the cats and birds and call to prayer (silly me, but I giggled it off and went back to sleep). Breakfast is included and is great based on European breakfast standards, they were great enough to let us sneak in early so we could make out shuttle, which they arranged for L7 per person. Room was very very clean despite being small but for the price I was very happy. I will now always just have to choose between Antea and Senator. Either way, I win.

    « Good location »

Pros: The location, for been close and well communicate to everywhere within walking distance and for been on a typical Turkish area. Cons: The Staff needs to be proactive, it's not acceptable that they don't check what's working or not in the room before giving it to a Guest! Location: The things to do are endless, I advise you take the Hop-on Hop-off Bus on Sultanahmet Square or visit the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia betweens more! The best thing about the Hotel is that for my taste it's in a good location, fairly safe and clean area if you are not a fussy person. But still, for the relation of quality and price, it would have been perfect if it was not because most of the Staff are lazy, I sent them an email and a message on FB asking them to ensure a quite and not smoking Room about 1 week before landing, they didn't border to answer and for my surprise when I got in the Room at almost 1 AM most of the things TV, Safe deposit box were not working, the Pillows was smelling heavily as cigarette, on Expedia this Hotel was showing as a 4 star and the picture was looking nice, hence I choose it over others. I was hungry asked for a Sandwich from the Menu, I got a warm bread but with cold sausage and without the potatoes that were advertised on the menu, I had to ask for it, the plate was wet and the salad was suspicious in the end, to fix all of these it took them more than an hour but the safe was only fixed the next day. My so-called quiet room was in front of a School Football field, quite only during the weekend and on school day until about 8:40 Am. I was shown two other rooms on the opposite side but there were not looking that better. The roof that was supposed to be available to seat during the evening and enjoy the view is heavily dirty and falling apart and it seems it has been this way for a while and the Smokers smoke right in the door without closing it.

    « excellent hotel »

very beautiful hotel, excellent rooms, I had a room with balcony with excellent view of the sea and the blue mosque. they upgraded our room free of charge which was very nice. great facilities sauna steam room. the gym not many machines and the pool is quite small. the lady at the pool could be more pleasant. breakfast was good too. workers were very helpful.

    « Great Location »

Stayed here 4 days waiting for my companions to catch up with me for start of a long vacation trip. The front desk staff are all fluent in English. Excellent advice is given about various excursions that can be arranged. They do all the work for you, arranging for taxi or shuttle as the case may be. The hotel likely saw recent upgrading. Everything works: TV, wifi, outlets, a/c. On two occasions nearby rooms had overenthusiastic parties taking place late in the night but the hotel staff put an end to that quickly. The hotel is in a wonderful location in terms of seeing historical Istanbul. It is close to the hop on - hop off bus. It is in easy walking distance of many of the historic sites that a tourist would want to see. The location is a mixed blessing however. While it is easy to walk to the various historic sites and museums, the hotel is hard to find on the return walk back. This is particularly difficult at night when all the streets start to look alike and there is nothing to orient yourself towards. That part of Istanbul is a jumble of streets and asking for directions from locals does not always work out, even if you carry a map. There are many restaurants in easy walking distance and the diversity restaurants will cater to any occasion. I would stay in this hotel again.

« Good but could get better »

Cleanliness requires improvement, but very friendly staff. Bit of a trek to sultan ahmet. Overall a good experience and the swimming pool and turkish bath were a lot of fun, especially for the kids. Recommended mostly because of the helpful staff.

« Upgraded room, freshly cooked eggs, lovely terrace view and extremely helpful staff »

I would definitely come to this hotel again, I booked through last minute.com, received an excellent rate and was upgraded as had just come out of hospital as a gesture of kindness. Attractive hotel in interesting little upcoming area with small, family run, little restaurant with home cooked food two minutes away, very simple but delicious and incredibly cheap, it is Ziya Baba restaurant recommended to us by Arzum at reception. Mescut, reception staff, name means happy, made our life so much easier by recommending the mini bus shuttle direct from the hotel to Sabiha Goken airport rather than having to get to Taksim and take the Havas bus. Little uphill walk of few minutes to Sultanahmet but lovely hotel, will definitely visit again. Thank you to all the staff for making it such a nice stay.

« Excellent Stay, Highly Recommended! »

From the monent we walked in we were treated with royalty. We reccomend this hotel as a must to anyone visitng Istanbul. This hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to the Blue Mosque and other main attractions. We had a big double room, it was moden and decorated to a very high standard. The air con was whisper quiet. The breakfast was large and very good, definetly worth getting up for! Metro is around a 10-15 walk from hotel. Is it so easy to get around via Metro. The staff and Managment at Antea Palace were amazing and professional. Manager Mr Ercan ULU was excellent, he was a great person who was always ready to help. Lady on front desk Arzu, day shift clerk Ibrahim and evening one Yunus. Belboy was Firat. All these staff are a big credit to Best Western Antea Palace. We will always stay at this hotel when visiting Istanbul. Thank you all staff. Keep up the great work. Ibrar and Saher UK

« Excellent Hotel, Friendly Staff, Good Location! »

I stayed here for a week with my friends, excellent hotel to stay, it has everything you need, pool, sauna, steam room, Turkish bath, and small gym. It is 5 minutes walk to the blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, topkapi palace, arasta bazaar. Grand Bazaar is ten minutes walk. Tram station is near blue mosque so only 5 minutes walk. Loads of place to eat and smoke hookah, and shopping nearby, The hotel is on the edge of sultan Ahmet old city all the buildings in this area are old and a little small, but even so the rooms have all the facilities you need, aircon, tv, hair dryer, comfy beds. Rooms are cleaned daily, buffet breakfast has a good range and is of a nice quality served from 7-10am. Parking is directly outside. YOUNIS is the Manager at reception and this guy is an absolute diamond! Very helpful, speaks good English and always has a lovely smile, he made our stay great here, told us about Istanbul and even when out of his way to help us with anything we asked. Thank you very much for a great stay. Mohammed

« Smart, quiet and friendly. Great stay! »

I felt it was a good price for what I received. Room was an ok size with ensuite shower/toilet and was surprisingly quiet, but do expect to hear the call for prayers early morning, afternoon and evening. Staff were every friendly, professional, courteous and helpful. Everything was clean and in a good order. Breakfast was included in the price and there is a large selection of food, including meat, bread, cereals, veg, fruit, turkish delight, teas, coffee, juices etc. There is a rooftop terrace which offers great views of the neighbourhood and the sea of Marmara. There is a spa in the basement, but I actually never ventured down there as Istanbul kept me busy and entertained. Wifi is good and reliable. There is also a TV, but I only used it for background. There is a school by the side, but the kids are not too disturbing and a park was being constructed at the front on my visit, but noise was low key from them too. This should be a nice feature once finished. ((The neighbourhood is not too bad and I felt ok to walk around both in the day and night time. Bear in mind that as this is smack bang in the heart of a holy part of town you may find it hard to buy alcohol from any local shop, but is OK at bars and restaurants and mind the hills, they are steep. )) I would definitely stay here again!

    « Excellent »

I spent 10 days in this hotel with my family and friends, it was very good times. We were close to the tram, blue mosque, topkapi, aya sophia (10 minutes walk), it was a very quiet hotel in which we were very comfortable.I loved the beds and pillows which are excellent; so I want to said thank you for all the staff for their kindness, smiles, presence, listening, help ... and more, especially for Yunus Who is always kind and smiling and listening at any time. I wish them good luck and I hope to return next year.

« Great place, friendly people »

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were welcomed warmly by the friendly staff at the hotel, swiftly checked in and was given lots of info about the city by younis (hotel supervisor) as it was our first visit to Istanbul. The room itself was clean and modern and had all the amenities as was described. The staff at the hotel were always there to help and to assist us of anything we not sure of. outside the hotel there was many restaurants and shops so we always had plenty of choice for food. The main area were the blue mosque is was only minutes away by walk, trams and all other transport were easily accesable. overall a nice clean modern hotel run by very helpful friendly staff in a good location. i surly would be staying at this place on all my future visits to istanbul

« Great place, close to blue mosque »

The place is located in the heart of City. All places are at walking distance.A very neat and clean hotel, very reasonable cost, big and spacious rooms, view of Bhosphorus sea from rooms is good. Staff is very helpful. Bar available, but no restaurant.

    « Very good Hotel »

Very good location, close to Blue Mosque / Old City (~600 m). Very good value for the money. Rooms are small, but very clean. Breakfast is very good, varied food. People at the hotel very helpful, very nice. Little SPA Center is nice, but no interest from the lady out there for the customers. Please check for the sauna, when we were there it had no door (an accident 2 days before we arrived there, the door broke, but didn't replaced it as we stayed there).

« Lovely Boutique hotel near Sultanmet »

The hotel is a nice Boutique Hotel with cosy rooms and facilities like Hamam, swimming pool etc. The hotel has a bar and restaurant on the ground floor which was only open for Breakfast when we were staying. The hotel staff said it is because of Ramadan. The staff is friendly and helpful. All the major attractions of Sultanmet are within walking distance. The hotel has a nice terrace with dining arrangements and lovely view to the sea. This was also closed when we were staying.

Excellent hotel, staff could not do enough for us. Even went shopping to get me a replacement shoelace, very large room spoilt a little by view of the crane over the road. However no building noise at all.A 10 minute walk to most of the attractions. Restaurant does not operate all year round apart from light snacks and breakfast which was absolutely superb.

    « Trip to turkey »

Hello. We went turkey for winter holidays. We enjoyed our stay in antea palace. However, the rooms were small. We booked double room with cot. Toilet was also very small. The heating system was not every good. It made room so hot. There was no proper system for heating. They have lots of variety in breakfast. The stuff was friendly. There was also language barrier. It was envy hard to make them understand. Overall, our stay in antea palace was good.

« Just about Ok ? But falls short in some areas »

We stayed at the hotel Antea Palace &Spa in early April for 6 days. The location of the hotel is very interesting and somewhat different from the description. The décor is very luxurious and well maintained, However across from the hotel is a very large building site which wasn't busy but worrying, and to the back of the hotel is the secondary school playground with all the associated noise which makes the local area interesting. The hotel is located in a myriad of small back streets which is not easy to navigate you're your way around. We found it quite interesting once we had got our bearings but although most of the local streets have lighting at night it might not suit everyone. We were B&B and at the start the breakfast were OK, they catered for many different nationalities and there was a varied selection of things on offer. The thing we found interesting is that as the days passed every day something nice disappeared from the buffet tables; first the nuts, then the croissants, then the soft boiled eggs, then some of the jams, and so on; very strange. In the basement of the Hotel is a spa suite which looks to have been recently refurbished and was good. The pool is small so not really for swimming but the sauna/steam rooms we very good. We thought that it would be good to have this in case the weather wasn't too good but in the end we didn't use it much but a nice to have facility. The room we were allocated must have been the smallest in the hotel and poor for a 4*hotel (only in Paris have we had smaller rooms); and not only this, but there was also a 4 feet x 4 feet ventilation riser in one corner of the room the rumbles and grumbled all day and for most of the night. So all in all not very good. The bathroom was well presented and the shower worked well. The staff were very pleasant in the most part ? only one hovering porter chap who I guess was waiting for the usual tip, and the young lady on the reception who was very kind and helped us with a number of things. Top Tips: Check which room you have Be happy with the location or allow for numerous taxis Remember Istanbul is very hilly so again allow for taxis if that might cause you a problem

« Excellent location, helpful staff »

Antea Palace Hotel is perfectly located in the old city with the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, Cistern, and Hagia Sophia within easy walking distance. Still, it isn't in the most touristy part of town, so you see children playing soccer in the park, hear the call to prayer from a nearby mosque, and encounter some of the old wooden houses. The staff were very friendly and helpful Particularly on our arrival, Anzu spent considerable time helping us plan our next few days, and her advice was invaluable. The room was fine, comparable to many European hotels in size. The bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options including a local bread, olives, hot and cold dishes.

    « Good location, staff »

The Antea Palace is in the shadow of the hippodrome, Blue Mosque, etc., yet just far enough away from the tourist hordes. Its location in a quarter of the "real Istanbul" suit our tastes perfectly. There were issues with the first room we were assigned, but the staff quickly moved us to another room. The staff was were friendly and helpful.

« Grand Budapest Hotel in miniature in istanbul »

Interesting hotel, with all the facilities you need, but with a little bit outdated old charm, like the imaginary Grand Budapest Hotel, indeed, as one of the other rewiers has already wrote. Very good location, but not in the middle of the touristic madness, you have to walk to the main sights hill upwards. Good comfort, OK spa facilities and good breakfast. Wifi is working, but could be better. Staff is helpful, as everywhere in Istanbul, but they are also like someones from an old fil at the beginning of the 20th century. The hotel is much more smaller, than shown by the pictures, but still enough space for everything.

    « Excellent Hotel »

We were a party of four, we stayed at The Antea Palace and Spa Hotel from 2nd March until the 9th. We would highly recommend this hotel, the staff are a delight and nothing is too much trouble, we had a great welcome on arriving, and for the rest of our stay. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are clean with great facilities, tea coffee, drinks, and all cosmetics supplied. The breakfast were of good standard with plenty of choice and the dining room light and appealing. The reception staff went out of their way to engage and give advice, many thanks. The hotel is situated really close to everything, wether you want to just wander around or go to the beautiful Blue Mosque or further a field. The trams and metro are very efficient way of getting around. We have been many time to Turkey and find everyone so helpful and pleasant.

Was informed by the hotel management that aircon is only used in season, therefore my airconditioned room will not be airconditioned during my stay. Otherwise close to old city, great shops around the hotel. Wifi did not work in rooms.

    « Old town charm »

What a lovelycharming setting. Warm red furnishings make you feel at home. Lovely big bathroom and clean room. Close enough to some awesome streets to wander and experience small shops and restaurants in Istanbul. Very small lift! Lovely spa an gym in basement.

« Very nice accommodations at a reasonable price »

We booked our room online and received a nice discount over the published prices. The property was not lavish, but very clean and the staff was amazingly accommodating. The breakfast was extraordinary with a huge variety of food and beverages. The pool and saunas were adequate and the massage was great! We would recommend this property. It is close enough to the major sites in the Old City, without being in the midst of the mayhem!

« Old refurnished hotel, personnel a bit unwelcoming »

Location: 10 min walk uphill to Cemberlitas tram, but also 10-15 walk to the sultanahmet area, the small Hagia Sophia was very close. Rooms: old but refurnished, clean, showers were very small. Wifi was good and breakfast was excellent. It has a tiny pool in basement, and a spa there too. The reception was good, but my main discomfort was the personnel wishing for tip on everything, while giving NOT carrying your luggage...

« Don't be fooled by the reviews »

Air conditioning didn't work, breakfast selection poor, small rooms. Me and my wife had to share a double bed with our 5 year old kid. Can hear the noise from the next room. The only positive was the friendly staff.

« Looks can be deceiving! »

Right-o, looks well...very flash when you walk in!... opulent would be the word, but in reality it was very different! Will start off with the worst part. The hotel is centrally heated, and even though there is air con and heater in your room, you CANNOT change the temperature, which incidentally was stiflingly hot! We felt like we were slowly being cooked, and couldn't breath, we spent ages trying to figure out if we were doing something wrong, but then came on Tripadvisor and found others had mentioned it! We tried to cool our room down (and yes it was the middle of winter in Istanbul) by opening the door to our fake balcony only to find it was completely broken off its hinges and had nothing but the lock holding it in place, we chose to sleep with it leaning on the curtains, to enable us to breath!... not the best option, but it was the only one we had! You better hope that unlike us, that the people in the adjacent room aren't the only other English speakers in the hotel, cos you can hear everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING!... including the man next door hawk phlegm up, to every body sound and function there is! Basically paper thin walls, with vents that you can basically have a conversation with the neighbour, which is a little uncomfortable doing, you know...what you normally go to the bathroom to do! Which leads to the bathroom (I know this all sounds hideous, but I promise I will end on a positive!), these were perhaps the smallest bathrooms, in any hotel I have stayed at in the world!...there was toiletries, which I was completely allergic too (and I don't normally suffer allergies?!) and couldn't use, as I would attempt to get out of the shower the door would constantly keep trying to close, making it almost impossible to get a towel at the same time as holding the door open!... no face-clothes, which I think a hotel selling itself they way this one does, should have supplied... I know not a lot of people use these days, but I certainly! A friend once warned me of the size of hotel rooms in Paris, well this room made Parisian rooms look like they were built for giants!... it was pretty damn small! We were on the second floor facing the sea, but our view consisted of diggers, cranes, and parks being dug up, and the noise associated with this behaviour!... I guess by this stage you might be thinking, these poor people, sounds like hell... well in some ways it was, but in others not so much, breakfast was really good, there is a small dipping pool, but we couldn't find the sauna, we had a couple of nightcaps in the hotel bar area, which was a nice way to finish the day, oh and incidentally met our next door neighbour (mentioned above!) which was awkward at all! In saying all of that, the lady on reception was helpful, we had 4 nights here, and I guess wished we had booked somewhere else, like maybe the top of the hills (closer to Sultanahmet Park), as it was a bit of a steep walk every day to get to transport, food, attractions etc... Bed was ok, no coffee/tea in the room! roof top restaurant wasn't open (kind of looked like it had been closed for years?). I have found writing a not so good review pretty hard as I chose to try and find the positives in all situations, but I really struggled with this hotel. All in all it was an ok, reasonably comfortable hotel, that is a bit overselling itself, we had a ok time, but wouldn't chose to stay again.

    « Dont be fooled... »

Disappointed by this hotel on an otherwise great trip to Istanbul. This is a very old property in need of a refit. 80s faded decor, Depressing atmosphere. That i can cope with but I found the staff offhand and only doing the very minimum throughout our stay. Not in a particularly good part of the old town. Steep hill to attractions. Fitness and pool laughable. Only saved from 2 stars by breakfast which was better than everything else suggested it would be. Im not a fussy reviewer but im amazed by the number of gushing reviews for this place....perhaps its just me.

« Good stay in a beautiful city I'm going back in 4 weeks time with my family !!!! »

This hotel as written in many reviews is quite an ideally situated hotel in the near the centre of Istanbul. It is only a 5 min walk to blue mosque and the Sultanahmet and Topkapi Musemus. It is about a 10 min walk to the Grand Bazar and unless have joint problems you will not even know and you will be right where you want to be right in the centre is Istanbuls centre attractions. The hotel is located on a smaller street in the old city of Istanbul which once you are in Istanbul old city will understand that it is the same for most of the hotels as the city comprises of old structures on small streets on a hilly location. A word of advice for all those visiting Istanbul carry your trainers. The hotel staff are very helpful and will give you very good guidance regarding anything and everything. The hotel Hamam and swimming pool are small but the perfect end to a long day in this enchanting city. The gym is rather nonexisting with only one treadmill and an exercise bicycle. The only downside is that the hotel kitchen is under renovation and only a cold breakfast is available. About my stay at the hotel all I can say is that I have already booked another trip one month from now and am taking my two sons with me this time. Meaning it's a good price forge money I paid for it and the rooms are comfortable.

    « value for money »

few things to consider, the hotel is centralized temperature controlled, hence be prepared to have a very warm room; close to the mosque, so the noise/sound (whichever way you think of it) from the mosque. small bathrooms, might be of discomfort for tall people Else I found this to be a comfortable place to stay, good breakfast they even served a local bread (with cheese base) Remember to check in on higher floors, for better view, and do not miss the roof top restaurant visit. a hamam, indoor pool, are welcome additions. Would also recommend a body scrub for 30 euros. Eleanor who offered the masseur service was wonderful in her work.

« Medium size hotel 15 mins walk from the main Old City attractions »

The hotel is unusual in its shape, being almost triangular. The furnishings are ornate in (I guess) a Turkish style. Our standard room (room 101!) was on the small side for the two of us, but had a view over to the Bosphorus (if you ignored the school in the foreground). Breakfast was quite adequate with a good selection - hot food, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit, breads and cakes. Not the friendliest of staff, but pretty efficient. In addition to the pool there is a steam room, sauna and hammam. Be aware that if you accept the offered water by the poolside you will be charged for it. You get water in your room at no extra cost. Minibar in the room has only soft drinks, but the hotel has a full bar. To get to the sights (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque etc you need either to walk uphill (it's quite steep) and takes 10-15 minutes) or take a cab (10-12 lira / 4 EUR).

« Good value hotel in quiet part of old town »

Good quality building and facilities in general. Room was smallish, but OK. Picture eludes to more space and grandeur than it actually is, but not so much that you would feel misled. Spa area good, with steam room, sauna and hammam (FOC to guests). Excellent masseuse at reasonable fee. Main problem was that 4 out 5 taxi drivers we used from tourist spots genuinely didn't know where it was - we ended up talking them through the side streets of the old ton to get back after our days out.

Had a lovely stay here. Hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated plus it was centrally located . Our room was a little small and we asked to be moved which wasn't a problem at all. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Would definitely recommend... :-)

« Staff need to smile! »

We spent 4 days at the hotel and from the day of our arrival we were throughly disappointed. Arriving in the evening we decided to have a quick word at reception to talk through our plan for the week. The guy seemed uninterested, gave us no advice and just seemed as though we were bothering him so we decided to speak to him in the morning instead. The following morning after an average breakfast, we showed the same guy at reception our itinerary for the week. Again he continued to fidget with printing and photocopying although we were the only ones at the front desk and when we did get his full attention he gave us a tour booklet and told us to do that instead. Frustrated at the lack of help with what we had specifically asked him advice for we gave up and continued our day. The same night we arrived back to our room which was incredibly hot. Having a room at the front of the hotel meant noises from the street which made opening the French doors would not allow us to sleep so we turned on the ac which seemed to be broken bearing in mind it worked perfectly fine the first night. After calling down we were informed the hotel was cool enough and the internal cooler meant the ac was off throughout the hotel. Confusion begins. We called again to ask for an explanation on which a staff member was sent up. On his arrival, he began to open the fuse box and continued switching it on and off as to find a solution. The fuse box, located at the door resulted in him standing in the doorway with the door fully open allowing everyone walking by get a look into the room at 11pm at night whilst we were in our nightwear. When asked for an explanation about the whole hotel having this problem he didn't seem to understand what we had said. Annoyed we asked for a standing fan to be sent up and used this for the rest of our stay. Overall, deco is nice, breakfast is average, gym consists of a treadmill at the lower floor under the stairs and the pool is a small sized pool. Needless to say, there are plenty of other hotels in this area so it's worth having a read of nearby hotel reviews to avoid this one.

Breakfast is good. Choice of Turkish and hot cooked breakfast. Location is nice and only 5-10mins from Blue mosque but walk is all up steep hills. Hotel has good wifi also. Has an excellent steam sauna and pool to use free of charge which is a bonus.

« Wonderful stay in Old Town (Sultanahmet) in Istanbul »

We had 3 couples in our party and stayed 3 nights pre-cruise. Manager Mr. Ulu was wonderful in making our hotel and airport transfer arrangements (free transfer for 3 night night stay) and in spite of the huge crowd and scores of people looking for their drivers, we were taken to our hotel with a refreshing cold towel and drink were offered. My room was upgraded (family room overlooking the soccer/football field across the street, but also the Marmara sea). Noise was not a factor since we are sound sleepers! Decor was fitting a palace theme (red velvet and gold) and we had enough sleeping room for 4. Amenities included hair dryers, bottle of watter, coffee/tea, tv and wifi. Front desk staff were helpful especially the evening shift and when one of our party had to go to a local hospital. Bellman (Nikhil?) was especially helpful. The full breakfast buffet was expansive and the fresh fruit were delicious. We ate at the hotel restaurant the first night for convenience and the ambiance was wonderful although some entrees were overcooked--but prices were reasonable. Although the hotel is walking distance from sights, since we were seniors some of whom had mild mobility issues, we used taxis in addition to trams. It is in an old neighborhood and with the winding streets and uneven pavement, we elected to use taxis most of the time to get to and from major destinations. All the taxis booked through the hotel were honest and used meters (about 10 to 15 Turkish lira to go to major sights and a night-time pharmacy run) but catching cabs coming back to the hotel was another thing. Negotiate the price ahead of time or make sure a meter is used (if you can locate and decipher it)--prices ranged from 10 lira to 50 lira and we heard from another person on the cruise ship that she paid 80! That made us feel better but made her feet worse! And don't fall for the "road construction" excuse for circuitous routing. Even with some high rates, with several people in the cab it was OK. We also arranged for a sonderful private guide (Nilufer Iris through the Rick Steves Istanbul guidebook) to take us to the new area and as it turned out, up the Bosporus and to the Asian side). We did the old town on our own and did fine. Had a nice dinner at Hamdi restaurant right next to the Spice Market (where we picked up some dried fruit and souvenirs). Gorgeous views especially at dusk from the 2nd floor and good food. Baklava had a faint taste of lamb fat? Overall, a great location for exploring (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Underground Cistern etc.).

    « Wonderful Stay »

Adequate accommodations, but room was very small. Did not think to ask for upgrade. We were on 2nd floor with view of Marmara Sea. Historical sights in comfortable walking distance. We took advantage of Turkish bath with massage and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Eleanora was fabulous. After a very long day of sightseeing it was exactly what we needed.

« Antea Palace Istanbul Hospitality »

Antea Palace is on a side street in the old Sultanahmet section of European Istanbul, overlooking the Sea of Marmara. Excellent view of sea and passing ships from 4th floor restaurant, two blocks up from the main road along the sea near the Concession Era French prison. A good introduction to Turkish hotel hospitality. Big spiral staircase from lobby with most rooms facing on to it. Plentiful Turkish breakfast - hard and soft boiled eggs in shell, several kinds of cheese and breads. About a quarter mile walk mostly up hill to the Hippodrome. About 4 blocks from Little Hagia Sophia mosque.

« Fantastic time hadd staying here!! »

We were upgraded to a 3rd floor suite and this had an oppulent feel with huge round bed, red and gold everywhere and a balcony with a sea view. Very ostentatious surroundings and really comfortable. The only criticism is that the air conditioning unit is very remote from the bed so it was very warm in the room at night. The sound of muezzin from 5 or 6 mosques in the neighbourhood was charming to start with but gradually became less so. It did add to the atmosphere of the ancient part of the city of Istanbul. The roof top terrace with a view all round was magical for a meal on our first night and reasonably priced. Efes beer served here as everywhere. The spa area is very clean and well kept but the pool is very small, possibly only 5 metres, a constraint of the hotel's footprint in the cramped area of the city with tiny streets. It was nice to cool off in here though after a day sightseeing. The interior of the hotel was wonderful and breakfast was plentiful enough to satisfy any taste and appetite. No bacon of course as it is a muslim country, but a nice change, with lots of fresh fruit and salads. Very friendly staff who were helpful to a fault.
