"My favorit hotel in Istanbul. "

mariannesG5328QJ, Copenhagen, Denmark 17/06/2020

The last 12 years I have visit Istanbul several times. After I had my experience with this hotel I have used it the last 5 years. First off all the good location and then the exelent service all receptionist and manager always give. ( they speak very good English) here I must say the woman receptionist “ Arzu “ is very kind and solve everything for you. The pool in the hotel have special time for women so they have it for themself. The breakfast is very various and delicious. Look forward to bring my son and grandchildren to October. I can only give my best recommendations.

"Best hotel experience ever!"

User 11/03/2020

It was our first trip to Istanbul and we stayed for 4 days. I still can't believe how much of the city we managed to see in such a short amount of time. Big thanks to the reception staff to recommend us the Bosphorus cruise and a tour through the city (bus and boat). We really liked it and highly recommend! Hotel was the best choice we could make! Breakfast was very good with a variety of food and it was every day different, room was cozy and beds very comfortable. Room view was another building, but that didn't bother us, because they make up for it with the beautiful spa and a lovely garden with the restaurant that had a wonderful view! Not to mention a winter garden that was a great place to enjoy a delicious tea and coffee. Location was very good and the taxi service that cooperates with the hotel was amazing! Hotel staff was so lovely and helpful and we can't wait to come back! Thank you so much for the unforgettable memories! We highly recommend it!

"Great experience"

princezaana, Belgrade, Serbia 18/02/2020

This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is great value for money. Staff is very friendly and professional. Hotel is very clean, furniture and interior are old, but very well maintained. Breakfast and wi fi are fine. Spa is small but good. Location is good, but streets around are not so nice.

"Wonderful experience"

User 16/02/2020

The hotel is very good located,in Fatih, where there are a lot of monuments. It s a quiet zone of the city in contrast to the reef of the town, busy, caotic but surely beautiful. The Hotel is also very clean, rooms are warm and comfortable. Staff is excellent, the front office manager was very gentle and always ready to help us. The Spa in little but good. Just two little things for makign the hotel excellent : No kids in the spa WOULD be better, and some croissant or muffins or brioches in the breakfast buffet. By the way, I really recommend this structure. Thank you all.

"Nice hotel in the center of Istanbul!"

User 06/02/2020

The hotel is located near most attractions. Convenient transport accessibility. The polite staff. Good breakfast buffet. The view from the room with a balcony on the sea. Panoramic view from the roof where there is a cafe. In front of the hotel is a park with a playground. Nearby are many restaurants with homemade local cuisine. It was also nice to visit the hotel spa in the evening after exploring the city.

"Gem of a place "

Adekama, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom 18/01/2020

Stayed here for 2 nights as a solo traveler, the only down side was the breakfast which was bread and eggs, if there is an option not to have breakfast and pay less, take it. The hotel made my stay very memorable with the 2 places I went for dinner which were both spot on. The room was clean and although I visited the leisure facilities, I did not use them but I will recommend this hotel for its proximity to the centre and it's location. I had the view of the park and the river, been able to open the door on the terrace and have the river air come in was an added bonus.

"Warm & Comfy"

shaidz2019, Johannesburg, South Africa 11/01/2020

I stayed at this Best Western Antea Palace hotel in Nov for 2 nights. The weather outside was rainy & cold but indoors was very warm. This hotel has thick carpets throughout and the room has heating. The staff are wonderful, willing to assist with everything and extremely friendly. They offered complimentary coffee and sweets at check-in, making you feel welcome. My single room was comfortable and clean, but very compact. The room decor is nice and bright. Toiletries were provided. The shower is in the bath, which has high sides, so be prepared to lift your legs high. The bath is also tiny, more suitable for a child. Breakfast is acceptable, with a few options available. This hotel is located on some narrow streets in a quiet suburb, and not along any main road. While there are some shops and nice parks nearby, there are no major attractions within easy walking distance. Walking to the Grand Bazaar & the tram line involves some steep uphills so its easier to call a taxi. A pleasant stay and clean, but location is not entirely convenient.

"Fantastic Hotel!"

User 31/12/2019

We have been on a two week holiday to Turkey and been to four different hotels but this is the best one. Anybody looking for a hotel in Istanbul shouldn't miss this hotel. The location is very much convenient to the main sites like Blue Mosque , Haigha Sofia and even Grand Bazaar. We were upgraded a room from deluxe to a family suite without asking or any additional cost! The room was large, clean, comfortable and well serviced; and had a great terrace with views to the Bosphorus. We very much enjoyed the Turkish Bath and the Sauna during our stay . The staff were extremely friendly, informative and supportive and the chefs made excellent food to eat. We would be happy to stay there again!

"Like Home Hotel"

ssalemg, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 29/12/2019

The hotel design and culture is to make you feel home. The staff have the culture of making your trip comfort. Design and furniture makes you feel home. Breakfast is beyond expectation and have all available Middle eastern options. I have and excellent experience with this hotel and advice others to have the same.

"Great Hotel"

rasisuk, County Durham, United Kingdom 29/12/2019

We sisters stayed here for 5 days in December. Fantastic Hotel. Very close to Sultanahmet of course to the Grand Bazzar. We really enjoyed the pool, Sauna and Turkish hammam. It is a hidden gem with a roof Terrace overlooking the sea of Marmara. Everything was perfect. Large, quiet and comfortable rooms serviced every day. Very good WiFi. Not to mention the delicious breakfasts we had at the start the days. It was a nice collection with plenty of options. we loved it. Staff looked after us very well and very helpful. They were very professional. Special thanks to Front Office Chief, Yunus for all your kindness and understanding. Again thank you for making our first visit to Istanbul a wonderful experience, we sisters enjoyed our stay there very much. Looking forward to staying with you again.

"Ideal for city trip with SPA"

User 29/12/2019

Amazing place, great value for money! Super friendly, helpful and accommodating staff! Top location, 5-10 mins walk to all historical sites. Food at breakfast was great, included international and local treats. Pleasure to stay there!

"Very Nice Vacation Stay!"

John P, Bangkok, Thailand 26/12/2019

We stayed in a Queen room for 12 days in November. The location is convenient, being a 10 minute walk to the Hippodrome, Haigha Sofia and related sites; and about the same distance to the Grand Bazaar. An array of excellent Turkish restaurants is a short stroll away. The hotel is Ottoman style, which we enjoy. The room was large, clean, comfortable and well serviced; and had a great balcony with views to the Bosphorus. The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. The hotel arranged transport to and from the airport. A good breakfast was included. The price was very reasonable. We would be happy to stay there again!

"Nice accomodation"

tamerb269, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 23/12/2019

I have stayed for 5 nights in from 18-23 Dec the service is good and the staff are great specially Forkan in the reception he is very supportive and helpful for us in our stay as he is excellent english speaker and know Istanbul very good. I would like to thank him for his welcoming and hospitality.

"Keep getting spam emails"

imran155, Leicester, United Kingdom 07/12/2019

Went in October with family and sent a few emails to the hotel to confirm the room type etc. The hotel is very old fashion and run down. Poor rooms and felt like I went back to the 1960's. Since back I keep getting spam emails from the hotel and have emailed them to stop this but it's booking confirmation for other people and it won't stop. Soooooo frustrating. Poor hotel. Stay way ...

"Poor guest service "

421kadej, Phuket, Thailand 23/11/2019

The morning reception lady was horrible and doesn't have any service mind. We booked day trip but would like to cancel and was asking her for help. She refused to help and kept saying we had to cancel with whoever we booked the tour with. Hard to believe to receive this from well known chain hotel. All we needed to know was it alright to cancel and if it would be too late to cancel if we wait until the gentleman we booked the tour with come to work, but still she said she didn't know anything. She could just pick up the phone and ask for us, but she chose not to and turn us down. Very disappointing to receiving this treatment from Best Western staff. Other than that the hotel is nice. Close to main attractions. Wide variety of breakfast.

"Very Nice Accommodations"

BiggPapa, Mukwonago, Wisconsin 17/11/2019

The staff at this hotel were very helpful with information about the area & helping us with our needs at the hotel. The room was very comfortable & quiet. WIFI worked well. Complementary breakfast was very nice. They do have a bar for alcoholic drinks.

"Hotel location"

User 17/11/2019

Great hotel! Hotel room was neat and clean. We were welcomed by a receptionist named Salim- smiling face with very helpful attitude. Location of the hotel is great, Grand Bazar, Spice market, Blue Mosque are so very close to the hotel. It saved us lot of money and time to travel. We will definitely recommend to our friends.

"Excellent service and good facilities!"

Tom V, Jakarta, Indonesia 16/11/2019

Good location as mentioned in several other reviews. In walking distance from several highlights of the old city. We had planned to stay 3 nights, but were only able to stay 2 because of a change to our flight schedule. The staff was very understanding and offered a room upgrade to compensate for the inconvenience. Really appreciated the kindness! We stayed in the suite on the 3rd floor with nice views over the Bosphorus. The biggest plus of this hotel are the complimentary use of steam room, sauna, and Turkish bath. Nothing more enjoyable than relaxing in the spa after a full day of walking in the old city. Recommended!

"Convenient & relaxing"

Kevin B, Norman, Oklahoma 25/10/2019

The main attraction of this hotel is the proximity to the Grand Bazaar which is just up the hill, as well as many of the prime tourist sites of historic city center, e.g. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, etc., which are an easy 10-15 min. walk away. The view from the upper-floor restaurant is also special, overlooking not only the water, but also picturesque part of the city. The room was clean and comfortable, and I never heard a call to prayer (a nice plus after a long flight). Breakfast options were plentiful and tasty. The gym area could use stand to have some upgrades (no elliptical machine, nor water dispenser). But all in all, I was very pleased.

"Great hotel"

JStewartx1, Gloucester, United Kingdom 24/10/2019

The Antea ticked all the right boxes for us, great room, good breakfast and superb location, well done all their staff Thank you for making our visit to Istanbul a really excellent experience, my brother and his wife thoroughly enjoyed their stay as well

"For sure I will host again in Best Western Antea Palace & Spa"

Corina0713, Romania 15/10/2019

Very nice hotel, we stay for 5 night, quiet , clean rooms, staff is very kindly and friendly, every time they are ready to help you with information and everything that you need. breakfast is variat is impossible to not find something that you like. they have a nice park in front ,that is good for family with children. the hotel is close to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Hipodrom square and old city. they have car park and that this is a plus because is almost impossible to find a place where you can park your car in Istanbul.

"Charming 4 star hotel close to city center"

User 03/10/2019

We stayed here for 3 night. The room war very comfortable, clean and quiet. Very good and tasty breakfast selection. The reception staff super nice and helpful in organizing trips, transfers, etc. One of the most relaxing city breaks that we had. Great memories of a great city!

"Great location"

Phillip W, Cardiff, United Kingdom 23/09/2019

Great place to stay good location good food and great staff especially the reception staff who were very helpful with trip advise on where to visit etc Room was comfortable didn't get time to visit the spa though

"Good Hotel to Stay"

User 11/09/2019

Good Hotel with full amenities. Front Desk Staff is very helpful and freindly. They upgrade me to from normal room to suite. Very good view of marmara sea and park view from the balcony. In sha allah will stay again.

"Value for money but wifi didn't work in the room"

Deepak F, New Delhi, India 08/09/2019

Nice hotel close to blue mosque and other places in the area (Sultan ahmet). Only problem was that the wifi didn't work properly inside the room. Most of the time i had to be at the reception. They kept our luggage after checkout. Breakfast spread good for non vegetarians only.

Ercan U, Manager at Best Western Antea Palace Hotel & Spa, responded to this review
Dear Deepak, Thank you for sharing your review about your stay in our hotel. Kindly l would like to inform you that Wi-fi works all around the hotel and rooms properly but there was temporary problem on the town where our propert is located at the old city, connection was weak but it is fixed and wi-fi works very well now. Hope you consider to stay in our property again for a better experience. Kindest regards from Istanbul Hotel Management

"Wonderful stay. We will definitely come back!"

User 26/08/2019

A very nice hotel, in a good location, close to major historical places in Istanbul. There are lots of places nearby where you can eat and a supermarket (Kim). We appreciated the breakfast, with a large variety of tasteful things. There is a large top terrace with a beautiful view. There is a good spa where you can relax after a busy hot day. We also appreciated the professional staff who made our trip enjoyable. We are already planning to come back again soon.

xaman1, Patras, Greece 25/08/2019

Very clean and quiet hotel only a few meters from Sultanahmet! Very friendly and helpful hotel staff! Perfect breakfast with a lot of food and drink choises! Everything was exactly as we wanted to be for our trip!

"Great time!"

User 20/08/2019

My family and I had a great time at this hotel! Management were caring and understanding. Staff were friendly and my family enjoyed their time and due to this, they want to come again! Thank you to everyone who made our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

LexiBaby7, Bucharest, Romania 07/08/2019

It is situated in the old city, close to the sea. The staff was very nice and friendly, the room was clean and big. The reception has a special vibe, it is very fancy. The pool was small and cold and there was just a small sauna. It has a great view on the rooftop and the breakfast was good.

"Summer in Istanbul "

onyroxa2006, Bucharest, Romania 26/07/2019

We were for the first time in Istanbul. For us, it was a very nice holiday. The hotel personal was kind and helpful. The breakfast was very rich and diversified. The room was a little too small, but the view from our balcony was great, we have seen the Marmara Sea. In front of the hotel there is a nice park and a terase. The location is very good, in the historical side of the city. The Grand Bazar and the tram are a 15 minutes walking. Once you reach the tram line, you can walk to the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, Gulhane Park and the harbor.

"Very good"

User 11/07/2019

Room 119. Very good hotel well located 10 minutes walk from Sultanahmet. The room is cleaned every day with impeccable cleanliness. breakfast of good quality and very varied in sweet, salty, fruit. The staff is very knowledgeable, responsive, and fluent in English. A special mention for Furkan very attentive and helpful as well as the very smiling young brown lady Alef or Alev (sorry for the confusion) who manages every morning breakfast with great professionalism with her team. A thank you also for the manager of this morning and the waiter who offered to us and our children, without asking for anything 4 bags with sandwiches, water and fruits because we left at 6 o'clock in the morning. And to finish a hello to Eleonora who has always taken care of our well being and safety at the pool and spa, especially towards children.

"Loved everything about this hotel!!!!"

NidaNazirBughio, Karachi, Pakistan 10/07/2019

Situated in one of the most homely town, this hotel is hidden gem.... from breakfast to room service to reception everything was impeccable. There is something unusually calm about this Town. I would definitely comeback here!!!!

"Great Service and hotel"

User 03/07/2019

My family and I spend 5 nights at the Best Western hotel. The service was excellent. They arranged tours for us and provided great advice on the use of taxis. When my daughter fell ill they provided great support to us as well. We left our luggage in safe keeping with them as we were touring Antalya then back to Istanbul. They were very accommodative. Breakfast was superb. They also arranged lunch for us when we required. Large variety. Highly recommend. The Spa and Pool facilities were super awesome. Thank You BW Antea Palace we loved our stay with you

"Having a laugh!"

User 01/07/2019

Beds are like slabs of marble and the rooms are so small one would find it hard to swing a mouse, never mind the proverbial cat! Noise from outside was loud even with the air on on! Was under the impression that the hotel had two restaurants - not so! Not even one! Didn't even stay one night! I paid a lot of money for an hotel that really shouldn't be classed as a three star.

sSsweet Ñectar H, Durban, South Africa 21/06/2019

My self and my daughters stay was extremely relaxing and we were very happy with the service provided. Wot made it most enjoyable was also that the hotel is very central and easy access to shops ,Resturants , meseums and main tour highlights of Istanbul. I would definitely book with them again in the near future...

"Wonderful customer service"

User 21/06/2019

I had just moved there for a couple of days before I travelled back to the uk. The staff were exceptional and attentive particularly Arzu. I had just left a 5 star hotel in a commercial area and this was the polar opposite. That was large and lacked any interest in the guests whereas for offered help, welcome drinks and support all the way through. I think some of the facilities could be updated in the hotel but otherwise wonderful staff made up for it

"nice city-trip"

User 19/06/2019

We stayed 3 nights in Istanbul for a city-trip. The staff were nice and helpful, the breakfast (buffet - turkish and europe food) was very delicious. We had all clean rooms and towels (it's a normal Standard room - if you want a top modern room, you have to go elsewere) Price/Performance top!

"The fantastic palace"

User 18/06/2019

Very friendly staff Location is closed to main attractions Classic architecture (like a palace) The generous Turkish breakfast Nice trace with magnificent sea view Tour guidance is available with a better price

"Excellent attention, good location."

User 09/06/2019

We stayed four nights in Istanbul, the acommodation was fine and comfortable, the services were very good also, but the attention was the best. The lady from the reception was always nice and helpful with all the doubts we had, I totally recommend this hotel.

"Unforgettable hollyday"

User 08/06/2019

Nice rooms, good food, clean hotel, helpful staff. Nice pool, sauna and beautiful roof terrace. But becouse of sugestions of Mister Mesut form reception our hollyday was amazing. We had amazing canal cruise with dinner and the most beautiful was the cruise tour of 3 islands with lunch. The best!

"Very good experience"

User 14/05/2019

Pleasant atmosphere, i liked the personal attitude, everything was exceptional, but the water in the pool was too cold. Excelent breakfast. Good location, near the tram station that leads to all major objectives to visit.

"Terrible Experience, Avoid at any cost"

User 14/05/2019

I would give a 0 star if it is possible. Had a terrible experience. Visited 27/04/2019 upon arrival receptionist told me they are fully occupied and i have to move to other hotel though I booked my hotel well before my planned stay, paid in advance. While I enquire which hotel they want me to relocate, they told is hotel from same one but not Best Western Group. After quick check in online i found that hotel is much cheaper than I paid for Best Western Antea Palace. So I asked the how he will compensate me. He said he dont have authority and i have to talk to manager next day which i refused to accept. Than he called to Manager and after few minutes informed me they not gonna compensate me and i have to move to other hotel, I don't have any choice. More than two hours i was in dialogue with hotel but they were no mode to negotiate and keep saying Hotel is fully occupied, they dunt have any empty room. Finally After more than two hours, when i refused to go any where, they came up with a room for me in the hotel. Deliberately they harassed me and refuse to give me room though I paid and booked the room well advance when they actually have empty room. Will never ever visit any Best Western hotel again in my life. Worst service received in my life.

Never stay in this hotel as women did not feel safe or secure at all. Would never go back or recommend this hotel to anyone. Rude staff, they will harass you and never admit that the service and room are not as described. There was no heating.

"Rooms were smelly and dirty."

turj0r, Chantilly, Virginia 26/04/2019

Rooms were smelly and dirty. Some of the cold foods at the breakfast was rotten. Internet was very slow at times. Not definitely a 3 star hotel. Would steer clear of best Western hotels from now on. Avoid.

"A very welcoming and comfortable hotel in ideal location"

Alli C, Grand Cayman 23/04/2019

Very warm, welcoming and efficient staff and comfortable hotel. Lovely breakfast and the sauna and hammam were great. The location of this hotel could not be better - just a few moments walk to many of the attractions of the city. I would certainly recommend. The bathroom was tiny. Though perfectly functional (and with a wonderfully powerful shower) this would be far from ideal for a larger guest! The decor was rather outdated and certainly not quite as was expected from the photos. But this did not detract from the comfort or value of the hotel.

"Great Hotel!"

Halema-Hussain, Greater London, United Kingdom 22/04/2019

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and I must say we had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and they provided extra things such as bath and shower gel, slippers, free tea and coffee in the hotel room etc. The hotel has been designed beautifully and feels like a house with couches in the lobby and large breakfast area with 5 couches. We were also offered complimentary drinks on arrival.Mesut and Amra were very nice helpful and sociable. Mesut taught me how to make Turkish tea and it was very interesting to learn how to make it perfectly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay at this hotel on my next trip.

"Historical with local feel"

BRPuffin, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 15/04/2019

Near sites with local neighborhood feel. The view at the top is lovely and the pool a treat. There are some good eateries right nearby and a fabulous silver shop with handmade ceramic and silver jewelry.

"Nice hotel but rude front desk officer"

GoPlaces41134875583, Dubai, United Arab Emirates 07/04/2019

It was a very nice beautiful hotel with rooms facing the garden, we enjoyed early check in and late checkout. Staff on reception during the day was very polite and helpful, good location, 10 minutes walk to metro station and all attractions. Nice rooms and clean washrooms. Staff on reception in evening was very rude and did not even care to listen very unfriendly and unprofessional. Breakfast was decent with not much options. Less fruits, no omlettes, no pastries and no baklawa(turkish dessert). Rooms facing the park were very noisy early morning with too much noise of construction happening and vehicles... Overall it was an average experience in an overpriced hotel...

"Only 10 to 15 minutes walking blue Mosque"

Road32156795033, Lorton, Virginia 31/03/2019

Front desk Mr. Mesut is very professional and helpful. Only ten minutes walking to Blue Mosque. When you are around at blue Mosque then you are within 5 minutes and 8 minutes rang Hogi sophia and Topkapi museum .And cross the street Water front . Remember This old town ,should not expect bigger room . Elevator is very small.

"Nice place to stay at"

Kaarolyi, Budapest, Hungary 30/03/2019

I have spent 4 days in Istanbul. I prefer Best Western hotels, because usually they're alright. This time I chose Antea Hotel, and was quite a good choice. Room size was ok for 2 persons, bathroom was ok, everything worked and they keep evetything extra clean! It is very important! Location is ok, it is a calm peaceful hotel near the main attractions. I would highlight the friendly staff, they were very kind and very helpful, I consider it very important. Breakfast was substantial, fresh and of a wide variety. Coffee and hot chocolate was perfect! I made a good choice again, I only can recommend this hotel!

"Enjoyable stay for 2 nights"

User 28/03/2019

The team at Antea palace are very helpful and considerate. We came asa couple with a baby and they did all they could to assist us. The hotel was nice and tidy and reasonable value. The only downside was construction works happening opposite our room (outside of the hotel).

"Leisurely time at Best Western Antea"

User 25/03/2019

Great hotel, nice team, excellent breakfast, thanks for our room upgrade. Lot of attractions in the vicinity! We got upgraded to room with a Sea view and a large balcony! Many thanks for your hospitality!

"Beautiful modern hotel with antique feel"

User 21/03/2019

This is a great place to stay in Istanbul. Being part of a major international hotel chain it was very modern and professional, but it still had a unique antique vibe that gave the feeling of being in an Ottoman palace. The rooms were clean, breakfast buffet had a huge variety of delicious food, the service was great, and the location is very convenient. I loved waking up to hearing the call to prayer emanating from the nearby Little Hagia Sophia just down the street. The hotel is in the middle of a beautiful old neighborhood with narrow cobblestone streets, but I felt safe walking alone in the area at night. Overall, a great place to stay!

"Good value"

471richardc471, Norfolk, United Kingdom 21/03/2019

Good sized room with safe. The shower enclosure was tiny but ok if you did not move too much. Staff were friendly and helpful but at check in they were keen to flog expensive tours (no doubt a management initiative to boost income). The rooftop terrace was great for watching the sunset. The pool was tiny - it's really just a plunge pool. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was pleasantly surprising as it was included in the room cost. My only negative comment on breakfast was the butter which came in a big block smelt and tasted rancid on the last 2 mornings of our 4 night stay ( I think it had been out of the refrigerator for too long)! All in all I thought it was very good value and I would stay there again.

"Overnight stay"

Carol123456789000, Liverpool, United Kingdom 15/03/2019

The staff were pleasant and this hotel was an old style majestic looking place on the interior. It reminded me of something from a 1930s Agatha Christie movie perhaps. My room was a triple for some reason even though I was travelling alone. The decor in my room was quite dated and the carpet needed replacing in my view. It all smelt a bit old too. It was hard for the airport shuttle guy to find and we had to go down lots of winding back streets to get there, but this may have been a problem with his sat nav I guess. Don't book the 5 euro shuttle to the airport - get an Uber perhaps instead (I booked the 5 euro option and they took an hour trundling all round town to pick up people from all kinds of random hotels in heavy traffic. After that the shuttle only took 25 minutes to get to the airport but all in all it was fairly irritating). The location was right by the Sea of Marmara, which you could sea out of the window down the alley, but not from the garden square in front of the hotel as the wall was too high. The kind hotel receptionist gave me a small parting gift: a cute little hotel purse. If you wish to stay in a quaint old style place with lobby boys with traditional lobby boy uniforms on, this is for you. Nice chandelier and bar on the ground floor with a grand spiral staircase to swirl down in an evening dress perhaps.

"Great vacation!"

StranNick-SPb, St. Petersburg, Russia 15/03/2019

It was a really great pleasure to stay at this hotel! We spent a week in Istanbul, so we needed a comfortable hotel located near the historical center of the city. And that's one was really the best choice! You'll feel yourself at home hear with the hotel's staff hospitality. Everyone were so king with us, everyone tried to help with any our's questions. The communication with the staff was also interesting and had a warm atmosphere. Thanks a lot everyone! Really want to meet you sometime again! The hotel has a great location: you just need to walk for 10 minutes to get to the Sultanahmet square or Çemberlitaş square and the tram station. A lot of picturesque places are situated near. The hotel also has a terrace with overwhelming viewpoint on the Marmara sea. The hotel building is also really beautiful and has a luxurious interior. That was a great vacation! Thanks a lot, Best Western!

"Best East Experience"

Road66490498407, Baku, Azerbaijan 12/03/2019

Kind & attentive personal, silent & picturesque location, panoramic bosfor sun set view, delicious & authentic food around, sauna & spa are quite good and relaxing, majority if historical points are in walking distance, ancient bazaars, textile shopping, and gastro-abundance are just great! Good, kind, alive, easy going, and smiling people around the all city. Close to new city center Taksim etc( 10 minor driving taxi 30+- TL)

"Neither so far nor so close to the center"

kikom318, Madrid, Spain 04/03/2019

Perfect location in a peculiar neighborhood. Neither so far nor so close to the center. Perfect to get Sultanahmet walking in 5 minutes, or easy acces driving to the road to the airport. The hotel is comfortable and the staff try to make your time easy in a wonderful city. This is a good option not too expensive to stay in Istanbul for business or holiday like at home

"Excellent staff, good location, good breakfast, dated rooms"

User 06/01/2019

The staff were all excellent without exception, always ready to help. Our last day we had to wait quite a long time after checking out to go to airport and we were set up in restaurant with complimentary tea and electric adaptor so we could use our laptops. Room cleaner found some small items we left and came down to make sure we got them before we left. Many excellent eating places nearby and all major tourist sites within walking distance but some uphill stretches. Some minor issues. We had booked a car from the hotel to meet us at airport, we were sent email confirmation but at airport contact person didn't have our name on list. Hotel claimed we didn't advise flight which not true but we got to hotel ok by public taxi. Istanbul taxis quite interesting so some might find that an issue. The furniture is very old which gives an overall very kitsch look which quirky but we liked. But, the beds are old as are the mattresses which are very soft and basically worn out, same with the pillows. If you don't like sinking into a mattress this might well be an issue for you. Did not affect us but the wheelchair ramp is very steep angle to access the front door.

"Friendly and hospitable"

User 22/12/2018

Enjoyed the stay. Along with an early check in we were offered a breakfast at no cost. Though the gym opens at 10,agreed to open it earlier for me, as I was travelling from Asia and was on their clock. Thank you, very nice and welcoming.

"Small but decent hotel"

Ravi V, noida 18/12/2018

it was a nice stay. rooms are small but cozy and properly warmed in winter. service was qiute good with a decent breakfast staff was courtious and accomodative. it is in walking distance from major tourist sites and lanes with old Istanbul is also quite interesting. recommended

User 12/12/2018

Very nice place, good looking and comfortable rooms, very nice staff, good breakfast. Its ten minutes walk to city (sultanahmet and aja sofia) Reception is open 0-24 hours and very kind and helpful Recommend to everyone!

"Clean and good location"

User 12/12/2018

The hotel was clean and quite near all the attractions in the Old City. The neighborhood has a local feel to it, as it is situated in a residential area. The rooftop has a great view of the sea and city. Also, the breakfast was good and the mess hall was spacious. However, the staff at the reception were a bit standoffish. It may only be an issue on language, but they appeared unenthusiastic and seemed disinclined to assist us.

Mesut at best western ante place made our Turkey experience an amazing experience. He did tour suggestions and booked them for us and everything he suggested was amazing. Thank you Mesut for your service.

"Cosy friendly and a great massage. Close to big attractions."

Cattmumof1, Bournemouth, United Kingdom 28/11/2018

We have 4 nights in this hotel, the beds were comfy, the rooms clean and serviced daily. Fresh water in a bottle for us everyday. Kind and friendly staff and a real vintage hotel feel, like I had been swept back in time by the decor which is a very good thing. Solid furniture and very homely. Slight downside is the size of the pool and the steam room needs some work but the Hammam is gorgeous and very relaxing. A taxi to the blue mosque is roughly 20tl and unless you like walking up very big hills it is advisable. Out of the hotel you find a children's park and some greenery and somewhere to sit outside. Dogs and cats run free in Istanbul and appear to be very well cared for. Out of the hotel and to the right and right again you find another park and some cheap places to eat and shop, away from the hustle and bustle (a lot more locals here). And a few supermarkets. Very handy if you have children, or like me you prefer fresh milk (su) in your coffee. You can see the Black Sea and all of the container ships waiting to travel down the Bosphorus straight ahead of the hotel from the roof Terrace.

"Good but not great"

seeker_here, Delhi 11/11/2018

When you enter Best Western Antea Palace, you feel as if you have been transported back a hundred years. The hotel looks and feels very vintage. However, the location is good and is only 10 minutes away from the main attractions of the Old City. There is a spa in the basement which is nice.

User 09/11/2018

Everything was great! We will go there again as soon as possible! It was clean everywhere, the staff was kind, the location exellent. There was free parking just outside the hotel. We had extra water, coffee, tea every day. They also cleaned the room every day.

"An ok hotel near the old town"

Redalfa147, Greater London, United Kingdom 04/11/2018

Arrived late and the hotel seemed dead even though we were told it was full. We discovered most hotels turn off unnecessary lights at night so it can make it seem a bit every. The decor was somewhat dated - mixture of a grand Versailles palace and an average b&b. The double room was small. The bathroom tired with poorly applied filling between the bath and walls. House keeping was good with everything replenished well. Breakfast buffet was a bit hit and miss. The coffee from the machine was excellent (cappuccino) but the orange and apple juice tasted like a cordial. Sometimes the scrambled egg was good and sometimes not so good. The hotel is near a mosque so the call to prayer could easily be heard (even at 5am). Great location near the old town but at the bottom of a hill so be prepared. About 25 mins walk from the blue mosque. The hotel arranged airport transfer. Due to arrive 14:40 (arrived 15:04) and they said the journey time is about 30 mins (was about 40 mins). I guess these are always estimates with Istanbul traffic! :) Overall the stay was ok.

User 03/11/2018

It was a great pleasure for us to stay in the hotel. The breakfast was good, seaview to Marmara, everything was good. The distance to the point of interest is short, the nearest restaurants are good. They can call you a taxi to airport and is cheap.

"Little holiday"

User 21/10/2018

The hotel is right in the center you can visit all the intresting places by foot if you like you can order a taxi they don 't cost a lot. It s quiet there oppusite they got a nice park with a cafe and a little playground you can also see the sea. The hotel got on the roof a terrace with a nice view specialy at night with all the lights on. You also hear the morning prayer but after one night you get used to it. We stayed there with 2 Adults and 1 Teenager and 1 Child, for about four days we got 2 doublerooms the where tidy and clean the size of the room was allright, the beds were comftable, the breakfeast was ok they had for everybodys taste something ans lots of it if it got empty they filled it straight away the personal where very friendly and helpful, the pool was the Highlight for our 9 year old girl she loved it the sauna and haman where very good we can recomend to book the massage at the haman the price was allright,we would book it again when we visit Istanbul again because 4 days are not enough to see everything.

"Great hotel!"

User 11/10/2018

An excellent hotel with friendly staff and open to all our requests, a rich and varied breakfast, clean rooms. I had free access to the pool and spa. Superlative services, location 10! I highly recommend this property for both the location and the services offered!

"Amazing hotel, fantastic location"

dawa739, London, United Kingdom 10/10/2018

We stayed here for two nights at the end of September. The hotel is exactly how it looks like in the photographs - stunning interior. The exterior is amazing too and the park just outside is very picturesque. The staff at the hotel were all absolutely outstanding and extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are great, spacious and very clean. Breakfast has something for everyone. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely stay here again if we come back to Istanbul. An additional and certainly noteworthy bonus is the walking distance to the old town. 10 minutes and you are right in the heart of it. So, in summary, this hotel offers amazing value for money, sure there are more central hotels but the staff here as well as the proximity to the old town - and subsequently the rest of Istanbul - and Ataturk airport are brilliant.

"Very good customer service"

samuelbianchini16, Istanbul, Turkey 27/09/2018

We stayed 4 nights and received very good customer service from all staff especially from Mr Mesut who sits in reception. He was helpful in providing information about the tourist spots and the quickest way to get there. I would recommend this hotel.

"Average hotel with pleasant staff"

User 27/09/2018

Hotel had amazing staff who were very polite and easy to talk to. Swimming pool was absolutely tiny and big enough for only 2 people. Breakfast was poor. Sometimes no eggs given only sausages. We found only afterwards during the end of our stay that we can request special orders to the chef. I stayed in the double twin room. Tiny room with hardly any space to move around. I requested an upgrade but staff said no due to no available rooms. Hotel is located about 10 minutes from Sultan ahmet area by walk and you have to walk up a steep hill so avoid this hotel if you are old or disabled. Other than that very good housekeeping and rooms were cleaned to a high standard

User 16/09/2018

I like this hotel it's good place and good staff very helpful and bi wanna thank me yunus I the front office he is good man and very helpful he helped me for hospital and all tourist places and for all booking to all good restaurant thank you yunus and if we think to come again to turkey we will come to your hotel and I advised all my friends to come and visit the hotel because I feel her I'm at home and safe and enjoy life

"Nice hotel"

User 12/09/2018

The suite has a lovely view of park and marmara sea in the distance. Mesut and Arzoo were very helpful. Good breakfast. only difficulty is the steep uphill walk to the blue mosque which takes about 15 to 20 minutes each way. Very close to the small Aya Sofia. Choose this if you want to live in the midst of local families who are very welcoming and warm. We were lucky to witness part of a wedding in the next building.

chaimaeelghaouat96, Rabat-Sale-Zemmour-Zaer Region, Morocco 11/09/2018

The hotel is well located,it's near to all the most important historical monuments of istanbul ( blue mosque, ayasofia, topkapi palace..). For travellers fans of shopping who include the "grand bazar" in their journey,it's only 15min away on foot. More than that, there's also the 'sultanahmet' tramway station to all other destinations. The room service is very satisfying. The receptionnists are so friendly and helpful. The hotel offers also a spa, a fitness area and a covered swimming pool for more confort of the customers.

"Amazing location and the best hosts ever!"

Sabiha M, Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina 11/09/2018

I really enjoyed our 4 days spent in this amazing hotel, location is more than perfect, everything was so close. And the best part of our journey was the fact that I forgot my phone on my way to the airport (coming back to the USA) and guys from hotel find the way to send it back to me. So grateful - real Turkish hospitality.

"Luxury in every way. "

Marianne S, Copenhagen, Denmark 10/09/2018

I have stayed in this hotel before some years ago. I am very pleased about everything in this hotel. Staff from housekeeper to manager is highly professional. The hotel standard is high. Very clean and it's in a good condition. It's only 10minutes walk from Sultan Ahmet / hippodrome and it have the most beautiful park outside the hotel. I have to say something about the breakfast. It have everything what you can dream about. I have to thank all the staff for a beautiful experience and look forward to come again. Best regards from me.

"Overall Great Experience!!!"

ElisaNoku, New York City, New York 09/09/2018

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and for the great service during my Stay. First time visiting Turkey and it was a great experience, starting with the hotel which was located near the old area of Istanbul, walking distance to the most popular places to visit, 10-15 minutes walk, safe neighborhood and very kind people around. Decent hotel, awesomeeeee staff and very accommodating, specially Yunus very well acknowledged, very helpful and thanks to him i was able to visit some beautiful places. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and i had one of the rooms with the best view. Loved the experience and will definitely go back! Thanks and all the best, Elisa :)

"Avoid it. Really poor service "

User 07/09/2018

One of the worst value for money we've ever had! I travel a lot and I've had a lot of experiences from luxurious to budget hotels, but this was the worst experience. It's true that this time I made a booking in rush, so couldn't spend time reading reviews, but didn't expect it to be so bad. Service level: that's the first unpleasant thing we faced. Receptionist in morning shift as well as the bell-boy were both so rude! Not only the great and meet, but even day to day interactions were so bad. Breakfast: a lot of products were not fresh, tables served poorly Rooms: old rooms, smelly towels and more. Despite a decent size, the feeling is not nice. Location: even though it's 10 minutes walking distance from main attractions like Blue Mosque, etc., it's located very low, so you need to climb up through tiny roads

"Bad stay"

252dave, Cape Town, South Africa 01/09/2018

I booked according to my agent a double room 1 down from a sea facing room.... I was given a dog box .... you needed to climb in and out of the shower. The tv set was olD and the picture did not fit the screen , The shower door fell off on my first try .... There were yelling kids running amok ....I requested to be moved but they agreed that it was bad but could only move the next day ... So spent half the evening in the park to get away from the noise . The second room the blanket had yellow stains on ...I had to ask for water . The crockery at breakfast was chipped.... etc etc .. never again Best Western !

"not worth it"

dhangpunzalan, Doha, Qatar 30/08/2018

Location wise is the only positive asset of the hotel, walking distance to most of the major attractions... But the hotel is self is too old, there's no proper blanket in the room looks like a big towel. Don't expect a gym that they're claiming that they have, its not even a small room, they just put 1 threadmill and bicycle equipment infront of the lift. Breakfast is horrible!!! Scrambled egg which is the only hot meal is served cold. The tv only 1 turkish channel. Definitely not a 4-star hotel...

"good locaiton for key sights"

adtraveller2016, London, United Kingdom 31/07/2018

comfortable good value hotel well located for the big sights, like Ag Sofia and Blue Mosque once you get the hang of the street layout which is a bit of a maze. The rooms decent size and the staff helpful.

"Great location."

TiredMummy22, Bedford, United Kingdom 31/07/2018

The location is great, ten minutes to sultanhamet square, where you can see the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topaki Palace etc... you can also get a tram around the city. The hotel reception area and rooms are clean, rooms are fairly small and could do with a lick of paint. Breakfast was ok, scrambled eggs, Turkish sausage, cooked veg, bread, cereal, fruit, salad etc.... The kids loved the novelty of using tiny ice cream wafer cones to hold their jam, there will be something for everyone to eat. The swimming pool is very small but nice to jump into to cool off in, but the steam room and sauna aren't always switched on and there is nobody around to help. Our main gripe was that the bar seemed to be ripping us off if we drank there. The room service menu said an efes was 15 lira but in the bar it varied from 15 lira (you would expect it to be less than room service) to 20 lira.

Saima B, High Wycombe, United Kingdom 29/07/2018

Avoid at all costs! I booked this holiday in April 2018 for July. It was all fully booked. The day before the hotel messaged us to say the credit card we put down was invalid so I changed it to a different one. Next thing I know, they've cancelled our booking and when I emailed them, no reply? They literally left us hanging the day before we were meant to fly out to Istanbul. We were incredibly lucky to find a good hotel at such short notice which by the way was much better than this one!

"June holiday"

User 09/07/2018

Stayed here for a week in June. Certainly not a 4* hotel. Some rooms are extremely small. Carpets and deco very outdated and need refurbishing. Rooms were clean staff friendly and helpful and breakfast was plenty. Not always to my taste but there was always something I could eat

"lovely hotel"

Tahera, Scotland 06/07/2018

Just back from a 3 day girlie break to Istanbul. The hotel is centrally located about a 12-13 min very steep uphill walk to the Blue Mosque. Room was lovely and clean.check in was fast and efficient staff were friendly breakfast was OK Lovely local restaurants and very reasonable would defo stay again not sue why other people had said it was noisy not a pin drop sound! remember to take hotel full address as taxi drivers did get confused!

veer2808, Karachi, Pakistan 04/07/2018

The best thing this Best Western property had going for it was its ideal location to the best attractions and restaurants. One is taken in by the impressive lounge and dining facilities until you reach your fairly OK room with the very small shower stall. During our 3 days' stay, we had to deal with 3 different managers, the downside being that we didn't see the most efficient manager again after the first day. Having said that, the other staff is quite efficient and helpful. The hotel also arranged for us to join city and river cruise tours - unfortunately, one tour company's guide and services were very good as compared to the other's which were pathetic.

"Excellent located, beautifull hotel with nice roof top"

Ana M, Cologne, Germany 16/06/2018

This hotel is just 10 minutes walk away from the Sultan-Ahmed Moschee. On the way there are a lot of nice restaurants to eat. The hotel is decorated nicely, very clean and with helpful staff. The rooms are clean and big. On the roof top from the hotel you can pass a splendid moment when the mucins call on sunset. The breakfast is ok, you find everything you need. There is also a Hamam you can use to relax at the end of the day after walking several kilometers through Istanbul.

"Fantastic *****"

We loved staying at the Antea Palace hotel! The staff has been very nice and helpful, we loved eating here, our room had a very beautiful view to the Marmara sea and a nice park. Everyday someone cleaned the room and they were very attentif to our needs. We will defenitly come here next time in Istanbul!

"Very good stay in Istanbuls old town"

Flavius B, Timisoara, Romania 27/04/2018

Very good and confortable hotel right in the middle of Istanbul's old town. Parking places are available if you come with car, and parking is very hard to find in that area. Very good & professional services & staff. Good breakfast. I recommend this hotel!

"We have an amazing hollyday"

ozermemedula, Constanta, Romania 03/04/2018

Everything was great since we walked the hotel's doorstep. The hosts have welcomed us and since then all our worries have disappeared and the new one has left us to enjoy the story called Istanbul. I stayed with one wish: to come back here. Ozer abi, Kostence/Romania

Came here with 10 family members. The stay here has been such a pleasure. Amazing staff who will go and stretch the extra mile for you. Arzu and Yusuf have been extremely professional and both have provided a flawless service for us all. Such an amazing variety at breakfast. We all highly recommend a stay here. Keep up the fantastic work!

Everything was just fine. The staff was very amiable and always ready to help. We are very pleased with our staying at the hotel. And we will recommend it to our all friends. If we go to Turkey again, we'll chooze it for sure.

"Average hotle"

User 16/03/2018

Stayed here for one night to get a break from hostel life- the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom dated but comfortable and clean, they provide complimentary 1.5L water per day and the WiFi in my room was excellent. Room got quite warm so it was nice to have an aircon. Unfortunately, both the sauna and the steam room were out of order and the heated indoor pool was cold. I went to use the facilities between 12-3pm which was meant for women only however 5 minutes into going for a swim two workmen walked in and just hovered around making me feel quite uncomfortable so I left. The area itself is a bit out of the way for the big sites in comparison to other places you could stay for the same price or cheaper, although it is all within walking distance. Around the corner there is a wonderful restaurant, Sofia Kebab house, I would highly recommend and they also deliver to the room.

"Lovley staff "

User 28/01/2018

Wounderful stay in Turkey we stayed for 2 weeks at this hotel the children enjoyed the pool and the views from the terrace all the staff were very hospitable having a child in a wheelchair increased the care and attention received from all staff members and management. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be visiting again soon.

"Lovely hotel, great location. "

Mishy_D06, Glasgow, United Kingdom 19/01/2018

We stayed at The Best Western Antea Palace for 10 days. The hotel is lovely & clean with a very opulent red & gold decor. The room was a good size for 2 people & was cleaned, with fresh towels & bottled water provided daily. Breakfast was included; it is fresh & plentiful, with the usual cereal, hot & cold Turkish breakfast items, fresh fruit, yoghurt etc. I have coeliac disease, so avoided the processed meats; however, there was plenty of eggs, cheeses, salad, olives etc & gluten free bread was provided when I asked. The hotel is a 10/15 min walk up some cobbled streets to Sultan Ahmet & the Blue Mosque etc. My husband & I don't mind walking & found the hotel pretty central to everywhere we wanted to visit; although the tram line is a 10 min walk away & you can purchase an Istanbul card to travel about. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Antea Palace & were happy with how close we were to everything. A big thank you to Ercan for helping us book a trip & a meal, & to his staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

I stayed in Antea Hotel for three nights with my husband, the room was very nice and clean. The staff is polite and helpfull. Also we liked the breakfast and meals. The hotel is very near to Sultanahmet Square.Thank you for your hospitality

"Good Hotel"

Christopher_Tan1982, Ossining, New York 30/11/2017

As part of my Delta Vacation package, this hotel was included. Lobby was good, elevator was small, room was adequate. I think the shower area was small for me. Breakfast was great! And I was not even expecting breakfast. I hope I called in earlier to schedule a coach hotel pickup. I paid TL 100 for taxi from Istanbul airport to the hotel. And it only cost me EUR 7 for a shuttle pick up from this airport. It is not a fancy hotel, it is value for money. It is a good 15-20 minute walk to the metro. It is not really in the city center. It is in the middle or a residential area. I was entertained by the chubby cats. I love them.

Had an amazing stay, the hotel is located ideally in the old city just a short walk to the many attractions of Istanbul, the staff were professional, helpful and friendly especially Yunus who helped us out with some booking issues. The room we stayed at was perfect for the price, clean and tidy and included complementary tea and coffee. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

"Good VFM hotel in the old city"

xuv2015, bangalore 11/10/2017

BW Antea Palace is a good Value for Money hotel. Well loacted in the old city, it is about 15 min walk to the Blue Mosque. They upgraded our room on arrival which meant a bigger room than what we had booked. The breakfast was very nice and had a nice assortment of cheeses and dried and fresh fruits in addition to the usual spread. The front desk was very helpful (especially Arzoo), and advised us on various options. We also went for dinner in one of the restaurants under the Gallata bridge on their advice, and this included a free pick up and drop from the hotel which was very convenient. All in all, a good value for money stay.

"very basic"

User 09/10/2017

if you want to be near to old area of Istanbul it can be good otherwise it can't get good point because it's far to public transportation and in a weird place. But nice staffs try to help you aside the poor facilities. free but terribly low speed internet. breakfast is not bad. bathroom is not that clean that you expect. some rooms are beside a crowded and noisy high school.

"All in all, positive"

HappyGuests2009, Sliema 21/09/2017

Have just spent a 7-day stay at this property where all in all, I can say it was a positive experience. It all started on the wrong foot where upon check in we were allocated a standard twin room with two extra beds fitted in, rather than a larger sized family room comprising appropriate space and sleeping facilities for four. Following some convincing we were however allocated the correct room type, following the first night. Breakfast is reasonably good, served by a very attentive team of staff. The level of housekeeping is generally good, even if bathrooms particularly the one in which we spent the first night, need attention. The indoor pool is way too small with spa prices being on the high side, so here we simply did not bother. The hotel itself is located 15mins walk away from the tram station, however once there, connectivity to all areas is very good. Ultimately, a word of thanks to the Team who constantly go out of their way to assist the guests, namely Yunus, Arzu, the young lady with the braids at breakfast and several others, for whom we have only words of praise. From our side, had we to return to Istanbul we will aim to stay in a different area, just for the sake of experiencing different places, however, we do not hesitate to recommend this property to prospective clients.

"Bad Hotel"

User 20/09/2017

we were group of 10 passengers, the hotel was very bad, the location is so far from metro and bus station,so you have to use the taxi all time.the standard rooms are very small ,dirty hotel &breakfast was not on the terrace,it was in the lobby area, bad smell also

"Good value and excellent location"

ImranLahori, Lahore, Pakistan 06/09/2017

I have stayed twice at this hotel in the last two months. It has clean and comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, a good elevator, excellent views from its rooftop restaurant, free sauna, pool and for extra payment - massage facilities. It has a fairly decent bar. The staff are helpful and eager to arrange your tours and transport at reasonable rates. A single room was Euro 80 per night, excellent breakfast included. The hotel is not very easy to approach by car but for walking it is ideally situated, Topkapi and Hagia Sofia are around 20 minutes on foot. A fresh fruit market nearby is not to be missed nor the seafront.

YBhailok, Preston, United Kingdom 29/08/2017

We Arrived on 24/817 @ approx 2.30am (11people) we had to take our luggage inside ourselves with little help from the bell boy. The rooms were very small view from window was a school. my room's bathroom smelt very bad the other room bathroom shower head & door broken plus flush not working WIFI was non existent breakfast was standard the other 2 rooms bathrooms also smelt . When complained in regards to rooms & WIFI the night duty Manager just shrugged his shoulders (he was very rude & never smiled) 2 rooms was changed the next day but still rooms very small even for standard rooms. On transfer to the airport a 9 seater vehicle was sent for 11 people & luggage, after insisting the vehicle is not sufficient etc... another vehicle arrived 30 mins later (Manager stating if not satisfied with 1 vehicle get taxis at 4:30am in the morning) the waiter was very helpful (on 26/8/17) he organised the other vehicle. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Mr Bhailok

"Great central located hotel with high qualified service"

User 09/08/2017

We, a group of 8 different persons, have been staying there for one week. The rooms were very pleasant and clean, the lobby was big and had a classic romantic style. The location of the is very central ( 10 min. walk to Sultan Ahmed Mosque, 13 min. walk to Sultan Ahmed tram-station). The Hotel staff (especially Arzu, Yunus and Mesut) is very friendly and helpful. They also can speak very fluently English and they give very good advises for daily trips (like Bosporus tour, princess-islands tour and a daily trip to a beach). As a Hotel guest at Best Western Antea Palace you will feel well treated, comfortable and safe.

User 12/06/2017

So i booked 4 nights stay in Antea Palace and this how it goes: -Had problem with the room service 3 times. First day i ordered food and upon waiting for 45 minutes i followed up and i was just informed that time that the food item was not available. 2nd incident i ordered again a cheeseburger upon receiving it ..It was just a plain burger a plain tasteless burger. So i called room service and asked then where is the cheese they offeref the food to be replaced but i refuse cause it took long already so i just asked for a ketchup . But to my surprise no ketchu available he just answere inshaallah tomorrow we have.3rd incident i called them to have food but no answer. I tried again after 30 mins still no answr and no call back. - Spa lady doesnt understand basic english and doesnt even smile. -staffs i dont know if they have personal problems cause they didnt even bother to smile or greet. -cups inside the room weren't wash still you can see the stain. -breakfast buffet was of limited items though i understand it was just a 4* but the plates and saucerd were on bad condition. Worn out already. -i dont even know if they have a duty manager to check all these things. If ill be giving a rate for this hotel ill give 3/10

We stayed in this hotel in April 2017 and the service from the minute we arrived was excellent. Younis the manager was most helpful and the service provided was exceptional and all our needs were taken care of. The hotel is well placed and is just walking distance from grand bazzar and sultanahmet. Would love to stay there again next time I visit. Amazing experience altogether!!

"Wonderful experience but..."

Stacy R, Watertown, MA 24/04/2017

So this is my second trip though Istanbul and I love it. I stayed at the best western senator last time and was blown away by the rooms, size, location, experience... so when they were booked and I saw the beat western Antea, I figured same thing, right? Well not exactly. The service was better than expected, so amazing and the views were 1000% better, the ocean is so pretty there. But the neighborhood was not the same, didn't feel as safe, and the rooms were not even close. The beds felt old and didn't have a top sheet, just the (very nice) comforter, so we alternated between hot as hell and cold. Had to open the door to even out the temp a bit, but it was nice out and a welcome change in air.... until the cats and birds and call to prayer (silly me, but I giggled it off and went back to sleep). Breakfast is included and is great based on European breakfast standards, they were great enough to let us sneak in early so we could make out shuttle, which they arranged for L7 per person. Room was very very clean despite being small but for the price I was very happy. I will now always just have to choose between Antea and Senator. Either way, I win.

"Good location"

CultureFusion, England, United Kingdom 22/04/2017

Pros: The location, for been close and well communicate to everywhere within walking distance and for been on a typical Turkish area. Cons: The Staff needs to be proactive, it's not acceptable that they don't check what's working or not in the room before giving it to a Guest! Location: The things to do are endless, I advise you take the Hop-on Hop-off Bus on Sultanahmet Square or visit the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia betweens more! The best thing about the Hotel is that for my taste it's in a good location, fairly safe and clean area if you are not a fussy person. But still, for the relation of quality and price, it would have been perfect if it was not because most of the Staff are lazy, I sent them an email and a message on FB asking them to ensure a quite and not smoking Room about 1 week before landing, they didn't border to answer and for my surprise when I got in the Room at almost 1 AM most of the things TV, Safe deposit box were not working, the Pillows was smelling heavily as cigarette, on Expedia this Hotel was showing as a 4 star and the picture was looking nice, hence I choose it over others. I was hungry asked for a Sandwich from the Menu, I got a warm bread but with cold sausage and without the potatoes that were advertised on the menu, I had to ask for it, the plate was wet and the salad was suspicious in the end, to fix all of these it took them more than an hour but the safe was only fixed the next day. My so-called quiet room was in front of a School Football field, quite only during the weekend and on school day until about 8:40 Am. I was shown two other rooms on the opposite side but there were not looking that better. The roof that was supposed to be available to seat during the evening and enjoy the view is heavily dirty and falling apart and it seems it has been this way for a while and the Smokers smoke right in the door without closing it.

"excellent hotel"

User 12/04/2017

very beautiful hotel, excellent rooms, I had a room with balcony with excellent view of the sea and the blue mosque. they upgraded our room free of charge which was very nice. great facilities sauna steam room. the gym not many machines and the pool is quite small. the lady at the pool could be more pleasant. breakfast was good too. workers were very helpful.

"Great Location"

NikoliGogol, Edmonton, Canada 16/11/2016

Stayed here 4 days waiting for my companions to catch up with me for start of a long vacation trip. The front desk staff are all fluent in English. Excellent advice is given about various excursions that can be arranged. They do all the work for you, arranging for taxi or shuttle as the case may be. The hotel likely saw recent upgrading. Everything works: TV, wifi, outlets, a/c. On two occasions nearby rooms had overenthusiastic parties taking place late in the night but the hotel staff put an end to that quickly. The hotel is in a wonderful location in terms of seeing historical Istanbul. It is close to the hop on - hop off bus. It is in easy walking distance of many of the historic sites that a tourist would want to see. The location is a mixed blessing however. While it is easy to walk to the various historic sites and museums, the hotel is hard to find on the return walk back. This is particularly difficult at night when all the streets start to look alike and there is nothing to orient yourself towards. That part of Istanbul is a jumble of streets and asking for directions from locals does not always work out, even if you carry a map. There are many restaurants in easy walking distance and the diversity restaurants will cater to any occasion. I would stay in this hotel again.

"Good but could get better"

Adnan Mahmood K, Istanbul, Turkey 01/11/2016

Cleanliness requires improvement, but very friendly staff. Bit of a trek to sultan ahmet. Overall a good experience and the swimming pool and turkish bath were a lot of fun, especially for the kids. Recommended mostly because of the helpful staff.

"Upgraded room, freshly cooked eggs, lovely terrace view and extremely helpful staff"

christelle_10, leeds 2 25/10/2016

I would definitely come to this hotel again, I booked through last, received an excellent rate and was upgraded as had just come out of hospital as a gesture of kindness. Attractive hotel in interesting little upcoming area with small, family run, little restaurant with home cooked food two minutes away, very simple but delicious and incredibly cheap, it is Ziya Baba restaurant recommended to us by Arzum at reception. Mescut, reception staff, name means happy, made our life so much easier by recommending the mini bus shuttle direct from the hotel to Sabiha Goken airport rather than having to get to Taksim and take the Havas bus. Little uphill walk of few minutes to Sultanahmet but lovely hotel, will definitely visit again. Thank you to all the staff for making it such a nice stay.

"Excellent Stay, Highly Recommended!"

User 02/10/2016

From the monent we walked in we were treated with royalty. We reccomend this hotel as a must to anyone visitng Istanbul. This hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to the Blue Mosque and other main attractions. We had a big double room, it was moden and decorated to a very high standard. The air con was whisper quiet. The breakfast was large and very good, definetly worth getting up for! Metro is around a 10-15 walk from hotel. Is it so easy to get around via Metro. The staff and Managment at Antea Palace were amazing and professional. Manager Mr Ercan ULU was excellent, he was a great person who was always ready to help. Lady on front desk Arzu, day shift clerk Ibrahim and evening one Yunus. Belboy was Firat. All these staff are a big credit to Best Western Antea Palace. We will always stay at this hotel when visiting Istanbul. Thank you all staff. Keep up the great work. Ibrar and Saher UK

"Excellent Hotel, Friendly Staff, Good Location!"

User 27/09/2016

I stayed here for a week with my friends, excellent hotel to stay, it has everything you need, pool, sauna, steam room, Turkish bath, and small gym. It is 5 minutes walk to the blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, topkapi palace, arasta bazaar. Grand Bazaar is ten minutes walk. Tram station is near blue mosque so only 5 minutes walk. Loads of place to eat and smoke hookah, and shopping nearby, The hotel is on the edge of sultan Ahmet old city all the buildings in this area are old and a little small, but even so the rooms have all the facilities you need, aircon, tv, hair dryer, comfy beds. Rooms are cleaned daily, buffet breakfast has a good range and is of a nice quality served from 7-10am. Parking is directly outside. YOUNIS is the Manager at reception and this guy is an absolute diamond! Very helpful, speaks good English and always has a lovely smile, he made our stay great here, told us about Istanbul and even when out of his way to help us with anything we asked. Thank you very much for a great stay. Mohammed

"Smart, quiet and friendly. Great stay!"

User 21/09/2016

I felt it was a good price for what I received. Room was an ok size with ensuite shower/toilet and was surprisingly quiet, but do expect to hear the call for prayers early morning, afternoon and evening. Staff were every friendly, professional, courteous and helpful. Everything was clean and in a good order. Breakfast was included in the price and there is a large selection of food, including meat, bread, cereals, veg, fruit, turkish delight, teas, coffee, juices etc. There is a rooftop terrace which offers great views of the neighbourhood and the sea of Marmara. There is a spa in the basement, but I actually never ventured down there as Istanbul kept me busy and entertained. Wifi is good and reliable. There is also a TV, but I only used it for background. There is a school by the side, but the kids are not too disturbing and a park was being constructed at the front on my visit, but noise was low key from them too. This should be a nice feature once finished. ((The neighbourhood is not too bad and I felt ok to walk around both in the day and night time. Bear in mind that as this is smack bang in the heart of a holy part of town you may find it hard to buy alcohol from any local shop, but is OK at bars and restaurants and mind the hills, they are steep. )) I would definitely stay here again!

I spent 10 days in this hotel with my family and friends, it was very good times. We were close to the tram, blue mosque, topkapi, aya sophia (10 minutes walk), it was a very quiet hotel in which we were very comfortable.I loved the beds and pillows which are excellent; so I want to said thank you for all the staff for their kindness, smiles, presence, listening, help ... and more, especially for Yunus Who is always kind and smiling and listening at any time. I wish them good luck and I hope to return next year.

"Great place, friendly people"

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were welcomed warmly by the friendly staff at the hotel, swiftly checked in and was given lots of info about the city by younis (hotel supervisor) as it was our first visit to Istanbul. The room itself was clean and modern and had all the amenities as was described. The staff at the hotel were always there to help and to assist us of anything we not sure of. outside the hotel there was many restaurants and shops so we always had plenty of choice for food. The main area were the blue mosque is was only minutes away by walk, trams and all other transport were easily accesable. overall a nice clean modern hotel run by very helpful friendly staff in a good location. i surly would be staying at this place on all my future visits to istanbul

"Very good Hotel"

usand100, Bucharest, 12/07/2016

Very good location, close to Blue Mosque / Old City (~600 m). Very good value for the money. Rooms are small, but very clean. Breakfast is very good, varied food. People at the hotel very helpful, very nice. Little SPA Center is nice, but no interest from the lady out there for the customers. Please check for the sauna, when we were there it had no door (an accident 2 days before we arrived there, the door broke, but didn't replaced it as we stayed there).

"Lovely Boutique hotel near Sultanmet"

User 28/06/2016

The hotel is a nice Boutique Hotel with cosy rooms and facilities like Hamam, swimming pool etc. The hotel has a bar and restaurant on the ground floor which was only open for Breakfast when we were staying. The hotel staff said it is because of Ramadan. The staff is friendly and helpful. All the major attractions of Sultanmet are within walking distance. The hotel has a nice terrace with dining arrangements and lovely view to the sea. This was also closed when we were staying.

Excellent hotel, staff could not do enough for us. Even went shopping to get me a replacement shoelace, very large room spoilt a little by view of the crane over the road. However no building noise at all.A 10 minute walk to most of the attractions. Restaurant does not operate all year round apart from light snacks and breakfast which was absolutely superb.

"Trip to turkey"

Kaka K, London, United Kingdom 25/04/2016

Hello. We went turkey for winter holidays. We enjoyed our stay in antea palace. However, the rooms were small. We booked double room with cot. Toilet was also very small. The heating system was not every good. It made room so hot. There was no proper system for heating. They have lots of variety in breakfast. The stuff was friendly. There was also language barrier. It was envy hard to make them understand. Overall, our stay in antea palace was good.

"Just about Ok – But falls short in some areas"

martin w, Witshire 11/04/2016

We stayed at the hotel Antea Palace &Spa in early April for 6 days. The location of the hotel is very interesting and somewhat different from the description. The décor is very luxurious and well maintained, However across from the hotel is a very large building site which wasn't busy but worrying, and to the back of the hotel is the secondary school playground with all the associated noise which makes the local area interesting. The hotel is located in a myriad of small back streets which is not easy to navigate you're your way around. We found it quite interesting once we had got our bearings but although most of the local streets have lighting at night it might not suit everyone. We were B&B and at the start the breakfast were OK, they catered for many different nationalities and there was a varied selection of things on offer. The thing we found interesting is that as the days passed every day something nice disappeared from the buffet tables; first the nuts, then the croissants, then the soft boiled eggs, then some of the jams, and so on; very strange. In the basement of the Hotel is a spa suite which looks to have been recently refurbished and was good. The pool is small so not really for swimming but the sauna/steam rooms we very good. We thought that it would be good to have this in case the weather wasn't too good but in the end we didn't use it much but a nice to have facility. The room we were allocated must have been the smallest in the hotel and poor for a 4*hotel (only in Paris have we had smaller rooms); and not only this, but there was also a 4 feet x 4 feet ventilation riser in one corner of the room the rumbles and grumbled all day and for most of the night. So all in all not very good. The bathroom was well presented and the shower worked well. The staff were very pleasant in the most part – only one hovering porter chap who I guess was waiting for the usual tip, and the young lady on the reception who was very kind and helped us with a number of things. Top Tips: Check which room you have Be happy with the location or allow for numerous taxis Remember Istanbul is very hilly so again allow for taxis if that might cause you a problem

"Excellent location, helpful staff"

Flora1027, Madison, Wisconsin 06/04/2016

Antea Palace Hotel is perfectly located in the old city with the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Hippodrome, Cistern, and Hagia Sophia within easy walking distance. Still, it isn't in the most touristy part of town, so you see children playing soccer in the park, hear the call to prayer from a nearby mosque, and encounter some of the old wooden houses. The staff were very friendly and helpful Particularly on our arrival, Anzu spent considerable time helping us plan our next few days, and her advice was invaluable. The room was fine, comparable to many European hotels in size. The bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options including a local bread, olives, hot and cold dishes.

"Good location, staff"

croushoreb, New York City, New York 01/04/2016

The Antea Palace is in the shadow of the hippodrome, Blue Mosque, etc., yet just far enough away from the tourist hordes. Its location in a quarter of the "real Istanbul" suit our tastes perfectly. There were issues with the first room we were assigned, but the staff quickly moved us to another room. The staff was were friendly and helpful.

"Grand Budapest Hotel in miniature in istanbul"

TF_Laszlo, Budapest, Hungary 27/03/2016

Interesting hotel, with all the facilities you need, but with a little bit outdated old charm, like the imaginary Grand Budapest Hotel, indeed, as one of the other rewiers has already wrote. Very good location, but not in the middle of the touristic madness, you have to walk to the main sights hill upwards. Good comfort, OK spa facilities and good breakfast. Wifi is working, but could be better. Staff is helpful, as everywhere in Istanbul, but they are also like someones from an old fil at the beginning of the 20th century. The hotel is much more smaller, than shown by the pictures, but still enough space for everything.

"Excellent Hotel"

grooveygranny, south west 21/03/2016

We were a party of four, we stayed at The Antea Palace and Spa Hotel from 2nd March until the 9th. We would highly recommend this hotel, the staff are a delight and nothing is too much trouble, we had a great welcome on arriving, and for the rest of our stay. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are clean with great facilities, tea coffee, drinks, and all cosmetics supplied. The breakfast were of good standard with plenty of choice and the dining room light and appealing. The reception staff went out of their way to engage and give advice, many thanks. The hotel is situated really close to everything, wether you want to just wander around or go to the beautiful Blue Mosque or further a field. The trams and metro are very efficient way of getting around. We have been many time to Turkey and find everyone so helpful and pleasant.

"Best Western Hotel Standards"

Hanepoot7, Somerset West, South Africa 15/03/2016

Was informed by the hotel management that aircon is only used in season, therefore my airconditioned room will not be airconditioned during my stay. Otherwise close to old city, great shops around the hotel. Wifi did not work in rooms.

"Old town charm"

Rose2Namib, Bloemfontein, South Africa 09/03/2016

What a lovelycharming setting. Warm red furnishings make you feel at home. Lovely big bathroom and clean room. Close enough to some awesome streets to wander and experience small shops and restaurants in Istanbul. Very small lift! Lovely spa an gym in basement.

"Very nice accommodations at a reasonable price"

Cindy P, Richmond, Illinois 05/03/2016

We booked our room online and received a nice discount over the published prices. The property was not lavish, but very clean and the staff was amazingly accommodating. The breakfast was extraordinary with a huge variety of food and beverages. The pool and saunas were adequate and the massage was great! We would recommend this property. It is close enough to the major sites in the Old City, without being in the midst of the mayhem!

"Old refurnished hotel, personnel a bit unwelcoming"

Ed1982_10, Taipei, Taiwan 01/03/2016

Location: 10 min walk uphill to Cemberlitas tram, but also 10-15 walk to the sultanahmet area, the small Hagia Sophia was very close. Rooms: old but refurnished, clean, showers were very small. Wifi was good and breakfast was excellent. It has a tiny pool in basement, and a spa there too. The reception was good, but my main discomfort was the personnel wishing for tip on everything, while giving NOT carrying your luggage...

"Don't be fooled by the reviews"

s_a_hussein, london 23/02/2016

Air conditioning didn't work, breakfast selection poor, small rooms. Me and my wife had to share a double bed with our 5 year old kid. Can hear the noise from the next room. The only positive was the friendly staff.

"Looks can be deceiving!"

eva p, Telchac Puerto, Mexico 15/02/2016

Right-o, looks well...very flash when you walk in!... opulent would be the word, but in reality it was very different! Will start off with the worst part. The hotel is centrally heated, and even though there is air con and heater in your room, you CANNOT change the temperature, which incidentally was stiflingly hot! We felt like we were slowly being cooked, and couldn't breath, we spent ages trying to figure out if we were doing something wrong, but then came on Tripadvisor and found others had mentioned it! We tried to cool our room down (and yes it was the middle of winter in Istanbul) by opening the door to our fake balcony only to find it was completely broken off its hinges and had nothing but the lock holding it in place, we chose to sleep with it leaning on the curtains, to enable us to breath!... not the best option, but it was the only one we had! You better hope that unlike us, that the people in the adjacent room aren't the only other English speakers in the hotel, cos you can hear everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING!... including the man next door hawk phlegm up, to every body sound and function there is! Basically paper thin walls, with vents that you can basically have a conversation with the neighbour, which is a little uncomfortable doing, you know...what you normally go to the bathroom to do! Which leads to the bathroom (I know this all sounds hideous, but I promise I will end on a positive!), these were perhaps the smallest bathrooms, in any hotel I have stayed at in the world!...there was toiletries, which I was completely allergic too (and I don't normally suffer allergies?!) and couldn't use, as I would attempt to get out of the shower the door would constantly keep trying to close, making it almost impossible to get a towel at the same time as holding the door open!... no face-clothes, which I think a hotel selling itself they way this one does, should have supplied... I know not a lot of people use these days, but I certainly! A friend once warned me of the size of hotel rooms in Paris, well this room made Parisian rooms look like they were built for giants!... it was pretty damn small! We were on the second floor facing the sea, but our view consisted of diggers, cranes, and parks being dug up, and the noise associated with this behaviour!... I guess by this stage you might be thinking, these poor people, sounds like hell... well in some ways it was, but in others not so much, breakfast was really good, there is a small dipping pool, but we couldn't find the sauna, we had a couple of nightcaps in the hotel bar area, which was a nice way to finish the day, oh and incidentally met our next door neighbour (mentioned above!) which was awkward at all! In saying all of that, the lady on reception was helpful, we had 4 nights here, and I guess wished we had booked somewhere else, like maybe the top of the hills (closer to Sultanahmet Park), as it was a bit of a steep walk every day to get to transport, food, attractions etc... Bed was ok, no coffee/tea in the room! roof top restaurant wasn't open (kind of looked like it had been closed for years?). I have found writing a not so good review pretty hard as I chose to try and find the positives in all situations, but I really struggled with this hotel. All in all it was an ok, reasonably comfortable hotel, that is a bit overselling itself, we had a ok time, but wouldn't chose to stay again.

"Dont be fooled..."

User 13/02/2016

Disappointed by this hotel on an otherwise great trip to Istanbul. This is a very old property in need of a refit. 80s faded decor, Depressing atmosphere. That i can cope with but I found the staff offhand and only doing the very minimum throughout our stay. Not in a particularly good part of the old town. Steep hill to attractions. Fitness and pool laughable. Only saved from 2 stars by breakfast which was better than everything else suggested it would be. Im not a fussy reviewer but im amazed by the number of gushing reviews for this place....perhaps its just me.

"Good stay in a beautiful city I'm going back in 4 weeks time with my family !!!!"

Ghazala A, London, United Kingdom 09/02/2016

This hotel as written in many reviews is quite an ideally situated hotel in the near the centre of Istanbul. It is only a 5 min walk to blue mosque and the Sultanahmet and Topkapi Musemus. It is about a 10 min walk to the Grand Bazar and unless have joint problems you will not even know and you will be right where you want to be right in the centre is Istanbuls centre attractions. The hotel is located on a smaller street in the old city of Istanbul which once you are in Istanbul old city will understand that it is the same for most of the hotels as the city comprises of old structures on small streets on a hilly location. A word of advice for all those visiting Istanbul carry your trainers. The hotel staff are very helpful and will give you very good guidance regarding anything and everything. The hotel Hamam and swimming pool are small but the perfect end to a long day in this enchanting city. The gym is rather nonexisting with only one treadmill and an exercise bicycle. The only downside is that the hotel kitchen is under renovation and only a cold breakfast is available. About my stay at the hotel all I can say is that I have already booked another trip one month from now and am taking my two sons with me this time. Meaning it's a good price forge money I paid for it and the rooms are comfortable.

few things to consider, the hotel is centralized temperature controlled, hence be prepared to have a very warm room; close to the mosque, so the noise/sound (whichever way you think of it) from the mosque. small bathrooms, might be of discomfort for tall people Else I found this to be a comfortable place to stay, good breakfast they even served a local bread (with cheese base) Remember to check in on higher floors, for better view, and do not miss the roof top restaurant visit. a hamam, indoor pool, are welcome additions. Would also recommend a body scrub for 30 euros. Eleanor who offered the masseur service was wonderful in her work.

"Medium size hotel 15 mins walk from the main Old City attractions"

Simon H, Birmingham, United Kingdom 03/01/2016

The hotel is unusual in its shape, being almost triangular. The furnishings are ornate in (I guess) a Turkish style. Our standard room (room 101!) was on the small side for the two of us, but had a view over to the Bosphorus (if you ignored the school in the foreground). Breakfast was quite adequate with a good selection - hot food, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit, breads and cakes. Not the friendliest of staff, but pretty efficient. In addition to the pool there is a steam room, sauna and hammam. Be aware that if you accept the offered water by the poolside you will be charged for it. You get water in your room at no extra cost. Minibar in the room has only soft drinks, but the hotel has a full bar. To get to the sights (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque etc you need either to walk uphill (it's quite steep) and takes 10-15 minutes) or take a cab (10-12 lira / 4 EUR).

"Good value hotel in quiet part of old town"

Jayne H, Walsall, England, United Kingdom 03/01/2016

Good quality building and facilities in general. Room was smallish, but OK. Picture eludes to more space and grandeur than it actually is, but not so much that you would feel misled. Spa area good, with steam room, sauna and hammam (FOC to guests). Excellent masseuse at reasonable fee. Main problem was that 4 out 5 taxi drivers we used from tourist spots genuinely didn't know where it was - we ended up talking them through the side streets of the old ton to get back after our days out.

Had a lovely stay here. Hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated plus it was centrally located . Our room was a little small and we asked to be moved which wasn't a problem at all. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Would definitely recommend... :-)

"Staff need to smile! "

User 17/11/2015

We spent 4 days at the hotel and from the day of our arrival we were throughly disappointed. Arriving in the evening we decided to have a quick word at reception to talk through our plan for the week. The guy seemed uninterested, gave us no advice and just seemed as though we were bothering him so we decided to speak to him in the morning instead. The following morning after an average breakfast, we showed the same guy at reception our itinerary for the week. Again he continued to fidget with printing and photocopying although we were the only ones at the front desk and when we did get his full attention he gave us a tour booklet and told us to do that instead. Frustrated at the lack of help with what we had specifically asked him advice for we gave up and continued our day. The same night we arrived back to our room which was incredibly hot. Having a room at the front of the hotel meant noises from the street which made opening the French doors would not allow us to sleep so we turned on the ac which seemed to be broken bearing in mind it worked perfectly fine the first night. After calling down we were informed the hotel was cool enough and the internal cooler meant the ac was off throughout the hotel. Confusion begins. We called again to ask for an explanation on which a staff member was sent up. On his arrival, he began to open the fuse box and continued switching it on and off as to find a solution. The fuse box, located at the door resulted in him standing in the doorway with the door fully open allowing everyone walking by get a look into the room at 11pm at night whilst we were in our nightwear. When asked for an explanation about the whole hotel having this problem he didn't seem to understand what we had said. Annoyed we asked for a standing fan to be sent up and used this for the rest of our stay. Overall, deco is nice, breakfast is average, gym consists of a treadmill at the lower floor under the stairs and the pool is a small sized pool. Needless to say, there are plenty of other hotels in this area so it's worth having a read of nearby hotel reviews to avoid this one.

"Decent hotel in a good location "

Travelguru3010, Leeds, United Kingdom 01/11/2015

Breakfast is good. Choice of Turkish and hot cooked breakfast. Location is nice and only 5-10mins from Blue mosque but walk is all up steep hills. Hotel has good wifi also. Has an excellent steam sauna and pool to use free of charge which is a bonus.

"Wonderful stay in Old Town (Sultanahmet) in Istanbul"

kimna, Redmond, Washington 19/10/2015

We had 3 couples in our party and stayed 3 nights pre-cruise. Manager Mr. Ulu was wonderful in making our hotel and airport transfer arrangements (free transfer for 3 night night stay) and in spite of the huge crowd and scores of people looking for their drivers, we were taken to our hotel with a refreshing cold towel and drink were offered. My room was upgraded (family room overlooking the soccer/football field across the street, but also the Marmara sea). Noise was not a factor since we are sound sleepers! Decor was fitting a palace theme (red velvet and gold) and we had enough sleeping room for 4. Amenities included hair dryers, bottle of watter, coffee/tea, tv and wifi. Front desk staff were helpful especially the evening shift and when one of our party had to go to a local hospital. Bellman (Nikhil?) was especially helpful. The full breakfast buffet was expansive and the fresh fruit were delicious. We ate at the hotel restaurant the first night for convenience and the ambiance was wonderful although some entrees were overcooked--but prices were reasonable. Although the hotel is walking distance from sights, since we were seniors some of whom had mild mobility issues, we used taxis in addition to trams. It is in an old neighborhood and with the winding streets and uneven pavement, we elected to use taxis most of the time to get to and from major destinations. All the taxis booked through the hotel were honest and used meters (about 10 to 15 Turkish lira to go to major sights and a night-time pharmacy run) but catching cabs coming back to the hotel was another thing. Negotiate the price ahead of time or make sure a meter is used (if you can locate and decipher it)--prices ranged from 10 lira to 50 lira and we heard from another person on the cruise ship that she paid 80! That made us feel better but made her feet worse! And don't fall for the "road construction" excuse for circuitous routing. Even with some high rates, with several people in the cab it was OK. We also arranged for a sonderful private guide (Nilufer Iris through the Rick Steves Istanbul guidebook) to take us to the new area and as it turned out, up the Bosporus and to the Asian side). We did the old town on our own and did fine. Had a nice dinner at Hamdi restaurant right next to the Spice Market (where we picked up some dried fruit and souvenirs). Gorgeous views especially at dusk from the 2nd floor and good food. Baklava had a faint taste of lamb fat? Overall, a great location for exploring (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Underground Cistern etc.).

"Wonderful Stay"

User 08/10/2015

Adequate accommodations, but room was very small. Did not think to ask for upgrade. We were on 2nd floor with view of Marmara Sea. Historical sights in comfortable walking distance. We took advantage of Turkish bath with massage and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Eleanora was fabulous. After a very long day of sightseeing it was exactly what we needed.

"Antea Palace Istanbul Hospitality"

TomR501, Asheville, North Carolina 08/10/2015

Antea Palace is on a side street in the old Sultanahmet section of European Istanbul, overlooking the Sea of Marmara. Excellent view of sea and passing ships from 4th floor restaurant, two blocks up from the main road along the sea near the Concession Era French prison. A good introduction to Turkish hotel hospitality. Big spiral staircase from lobby with most rooms facing on to it. Plentiful Turkish breakfast - hard and soft boiled eggs in shell, several kinds of cheese and breads. About a quarter mile walk mostly up hill to the Hippodrome. About 4 blocks from Little Hagia Sophia mosque.

Nice Hotel, very friendly Check-in and Check-out staff. Hotel is clean with nice buffet breakfast. A bit tucked away from centre of the city, but if you are up for walking 15 mins or so it's not a problem

"Fantastic time hadd staying here!!"

510col, Knutsford, United Kingdom 28/09/2015

We were upgraded to a 3rd floor suite and this had an oppulent feel with huge round bed, red and gold everywhere and a balcony with a sea view. Very ostentatious surroundings and really comfortable. The only criticism is that the air conditioning unit is very remote from the bed so it was very warm in the room at night. The sound of muezzin from 5 or 6 mosques in the neighbourhood was charming to start with but gradually became less so. It did add to the atmosphere of the ancient part of the city of Istanbul. The roof top terrace with a view all round was magical for a meal on our first night and reasonably priced. Efes beer served here as everywhere. The spa area is very clean and well kept but the pool is very small, possibly only 5 metres, a constraint of the hotel's footprint in the cramped area of the city with tiny streets. It was nice to cool off in here though after a day sightseeing. The interior of the hotel was wonderful and breakfast was plentiful enough to satisfy any taste and appetite. No bacon of course as it is a muslim country, but a nice change, with lots of fresh fruit and salads. Very friendly staff who were helpful to a fault.
