After an unexpected visit to a customer in Inverness I made a quick internet search for a hotel room for the night I picked the lochardil house as looking best value and close to where I was working. Great hotel beautiful room my late arrival was no problem The room I was given looked like the room on the web site. Breakfast the following morning was excellent with good selection of hot and continental items If I find myself back in Inverness it will be my 1st call for a room

Friendliest hotel Iv had the good fortune to stay in. Management and Staff are very Friendly and Obliging. The rooms are very comfortable and are kept immaculate by housekeeping. The restaurant serves up a good selection of quality food served by attentive staff. Overall it's a first class hotel to spend time away from home. Keep up the first class service you provide to your Guests.

The big beautiful gardens are so peaceful you'd never know you were so close to a city. Great rooms, scrupulously clean, extremely comfortable beds. Attentive helpful staff. Delicious breakfast, loved the porridge and kippers. Lovely run/walk down to the river. Excellent base to explore the surrounding areas and the city. Loved our stay here.

"An oasis for weary travelers"

29/06/2018

We didn't even intend to visit Inverness on our trip. But, a mishap with our rental car changed that. We used the GPS to search for accomodations. We were sure there was an error when it directed us into a nice residential area. What a delightful surprise! We had a spacious and well appointed room in the annex with views over the lawn. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel (both excellent) and set out the next day refreshed and very happy our plans had been changed.

"Comfortable But Average"

We did not get to stay in the historical structure, but had a newer style room much like an American chain hotel. However the location was awesome and we felt like we were in the country but the city was minutes away.

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed. Kind regards Graeme

"Good value, dated"

3
13/06/2018

We stayed in a king room in the main building. It was a little dated, but no major complaints except that the mattress was springy and sort of caving in from our weight (combined, we weight <230 lbs). A good value, at least for the included breakfast (fruit, meats, eggs, cereals, toast) and the good night's rest. Appeared to be a ~30 min walk from town, residential in the immediate area, has parking onsite.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at Best Western Plus Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest Thank you. The Main hotel is of course traditional in fabric and decor. The Beds are all less than a year old. This room has a zip and link type. Glad you enjoyed your stay and good night's rest. Kind regards Graeme

"Attractive hotel, pleasant staff"

5
27/05/2018

This hotel is about half an hour's walk from the centre of Inverness, but it's mostly a nice walk along the banks of the River Ness. We had a large comfortable room with two double beds, and the en suite bathroom had both a bath and shower. It was in a separate building to the reception and dining room, but very close to the main building. The dining room is a conservatory overlooking gardens, and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

My family and I stayed here for several nights while in the Highlands. This is such a unique hotel, and it was neat to stay in such an old house. The food was great, the staff very attentive, and the rooms very comfortable.

"Really comfortable!"

20/05/2018

Arriving late after a long day of travelling, we were pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome we received. Due to a wedding party, we had been upgraded to a lovely garden suite which was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower - very rare these days. Nice quality towels and linens. The bed was extremely comfortable with a choice of feather or fibre pillows. Dinner and breakfast were served in the conservatory, and were excellent. Service was good, and staff were all very friendly and efficient. Definitely on our list to return.

"Relaxation away from the crowds"

14/05/2018

We stayed here for one night while travelling throughout Scotland. Very clean, nice property in a neighborhood setting. The rooms could use some updating as far as decor, but were well equipped and included a refrigerator, safe, hairdryer and toiletries. The on-property restaurant was very good for dinner and also for breakfast. For the area, we felt like it was a good choice and would recommend it. Compared to other 4 star hotels we stayed at in Scotland, it was one of the top as far as amenities and the on-property restaurant.

"THE BEST"

12/05/2018

I was not going to write this until I got home but wanted to remember all the great details of our stay. We have traveled all over the world and 45 US states. We have never experienced such warm and welcoming hospitality anywhere. Robert did everything from taking us to our room, getting us ice, getting dinner reservations, taxi rides and he handles the bar and restaurant! All of the staff have been especially helpful. The rooms are super quiet and clean and the water pressure is the best ever! The restaurant is the best in Inverness and we tried some of the top rated ones. My restaurant review will be separate because I will be specific on just how talented the chef and staff have been. We have been here 4 nights and look forward to the next three nights.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at Best Western Plus Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Kim Thank you so much for your very kind words. We are delighted that you are so happy here and that Robert looked after you so well. It is a pleasure to have you with us. Kind regards Graeme

"Upgraded to suite"

5
12/05/2018

After another day touring Scotland we arrived quite late on and were footsore, tired and ready to eat. We were warmly welcomed and were immediately upgraded to a suite which although in the annex was quiet and ideal for our one night stay. We ate at the Hotel restaurant, something we do not usually do but were nicely surprised by the attentive waiters (unusual in the UK) and the food was decent. I particularly enjoyed the scallops.

"80th birthday celebration for James Mackay"

5
11/03/2018

We had a family get-together this weekend for my father-in-law to celebrate his 80th birthday on Saturday 10th March 2018. There were 15 of us for dinner including 5 children and 4 80 year olds! The hotel could not have done enough for us and bent over backwards to make sure everything went well. Compliments to the chef, a wide and varied menu, clean plates all round. Lesley (duty manager) was very professional from the moment we arrived and seemed to turn her hand to all tasks. All staff were professional, helpful and polite. My husband and I stayed in the hotel overnight, we had booked a double room but were upgraded to a beautiful junior suite. The bathroom was enormous and spotless, the shower huge, hot and very powerful. The bed was also enormous and very, very cumfy. We had a sofa, coffee table, small table and chairs, tea and coffee making facilities with a range of biscuits. The suite overlooked the garden to the back of the hotel and there was absolutely no noise from outside or indeed from inside the hotel. Very peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for family occasions.

My wife arrange for 30 family and friends to celebrate my 60th. Twenty five adults and 5 grand children. The three course meal was fantastic and the decoration and tables set up was great. The staff were all ways very helpful and are a credit to the hotel. Drinks flowed and everyone had a fantastic day. We booked three rooms for family and all commented on how good their rooms and the hotel were. This hotel is a gem and I can highly recommend it for an overnight stay or just for a meal.

Really nice service and attentive bar staff, early to bed, next morning, sumptuous buffet, fresh cooked, really great conservatory, can't fault it, would happily stay again, and will do when back in town, thanks again for a great stay...

14/02/2018

I stayed for 5 nights in February with 2 colleagues with work. We booked this instead of the Kingsmill due to a bad experience. The one item that stood out was the staff. They were all friendly, polite and willing to assist at any time. Restaurant in the hotel serves good quality food and has quick service. Plenty of free parking. Rooms are clean and comfortable (and quiet!)

"Short Break"

5
12/02/2018

Travelled here as a break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were congratulated and upgraded - TWICE! Once to the Garden building and then to a Suite within. Very pleased and room was spacious, well furnished with huge bathroom. See photos above - they are accurate. Hotel is a little remote for some in a largely residential area. It was great for us and for those active not too far to walk to town for lots more to do. We chose this location anyway. We dined at the hotel on 2 of our 3 nights. Menu choice is not massive but food was well presented and cooked to our liking. Expect to pay £25 - £30 for 3 courses + drinks. Breakfast was buffet style with usual options. Some hot items a little overcooked but still edible. All staff we encountered were polite friendly and happy to help. No issues. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to other guests

"Excellent restaurant and conference facility"

5
04/02/2018

Have not stayed in the hotel but was back once again speaking at a lunch engagement. The food was first class - well presented and well prepared. The staff, under the command of general manager, Robert, are all very friendly, helpful and engaging. The facilities offered at the hotel for corporate dining, conferencing or similar are first class - would have no hesitation in recommending the Lochardil for such a function.

29/01/2018

I guess it's due to the time of year but we got a really good three night weekend deal. There was wonderful costumer service throughout. This was a real highlight. Everyone genuinely seemed happy to help! We loved the room. We loved the breakfast. We didn't stay for dinner but enjoyed our drinks in the bar. This was a great base for us to get lots of walking done and to explore the wider area. If we could get another great priced deal, we would definitely return.

Staying at lochardil house was like "Home from home". I stayed here for 3 months during a work assignment and can't thank the staff enough for all they did. Breakfast was always ready and available before I left for work and the staff were very accommodating with lunch and dinner , as i worked long hours in the commimunity the staff were flexible with the times. all I had to do was ask "what's the specials today" and they were ready when I arrived back and of course delicious. The rooms were spacious and spotless..every effort was made to ensure comfort and the huge bed an added bonus! Thank you to all the staff for making my stay a pleasure and thanks to the bar staff for always attending to my refreshment needs at the end of a long day ?? I will definitely be back for pleasure not business. X

"A Real Gem !"

09/01/2018

I was fortunate enough to have stayed here many times during Oct/nov/ Dec 17 whole in Inverness for work. The staff are very welcoming from management to reception wait staff and housekeeping and I can't thank them all enough for making my stay so comfortable! Working long hours in the community and coming back to the lochardil at the end of the night was a real pleasure. The chef would oftentimes stay late and prepare evening meals ... and also wait staff would be there earlier in the mornings to make sure breakfast was available before my colleagues and I started our day...absolutely going beyond the call of duty and it was very much appreciated! The rooms were spacious and spotless, the main hotel was charming and the “family” atmosphere warm and friendly. Thank you everyone for making each stay there very comfortable and I will recommend friends and family colleagues too if they're ever in Inverness look no further than lochardil house x hope to see you all soon... this time for R ‘n' R not work ?? I'm writing this on the final evening of my stay in this lovely hotel. Friendly professional staff, a comfortable room, beautiful cuisine, plus the perfect location for what I needed. It's about 10 mins drive south of the town centre in a quiet area. Really couldn't fault it. My compliments to all the staff especially the chef.

"Quality all round"

5
04/12/2017

From the minute I arrive each time to the point of leaving, all of the staff are welcoming and look to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. I have stayed here a number of times for business purposes and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area. The quality of food is exceptional. Hats off to the chefs and to the friendly restaurant staff, thank you. The rooms, both in the main hotel and in the annex are excellent. The main hotel is slightly dated but this is to be expected as it is a traditional manor house type building. The annex is modern and the facilities are great. My only gripe is that is does not have a gym/pool but as it is not advertised I was fully aware of this before staying. 10/10. Thanks to all the staff at Lochardil House.

"Really Good Hotel"

16/11/2017

Spent a couple of nights on a business trip. Hotel is in a nice quiet location but only a short drive away from the centre of Inverness. The hotel itself is really nice - room was good and had everything you'd want, and the public areas are also great. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Couldn't fault this hotel in any way based on my experience of it.

My wife and I attended the hotel to have a meal. Really worth the visit. The conservatory where we ate was nice clean and not too formal. Great service from all staff including the manager Robert. The food we had was so tasty, piping hot and fresh. The head chef deserves real credit for the menu and the way he operates his brigade to serve such great meals. Definitely worth a visit for a meal.

"A little overrated"

3
25/10/2017

Public areas quite nice and a lovely formal breakfast dining area, with excellent traditional Scottish breakfast. Rooms are a little outdated, and expensive for what they are. Excellent friendly staff, made us feel very welcomed. Guess we just prefer modern hotels.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at Best Western Plus Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Peter Thank you for your review. We are clearly described as a 'Victorian Mansion House' and the rooms are therefore traditional in the Main Hotel. Our Garden Wing Rooms are larger and 'modern' but you chose the Traditional. Kind regards Graeme

"Excellent, Beautiful Boutique Hotel"

5
13/10/2017

We stayed at the Lochardil House Hotel for 3 nights while visiting Inverness. It is a little bit out of town in a beautiful neighborhood setting. But it is not so far out that you can't walk into town. Took us about 2o minutes. But being away from the city center noise on awesome grounds is worth it. The room we had was a Junior Suite. Plenty of room, superb bathroom facilities and beautiful garden views. The staff is very attentive and extremely helpful. We only ate at the restaurant twice - lunch and dinner - but the food was very good and not overly priced. Very good bar selections as well. This is an excellent hotel and we recommend it for anyone traveling to Inverness Scotland.

"Very old hotel, very hot and could be updated slightly"

3
02/10/2017

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, We loved the location, perfect weather but unfortunately the hotel was not as expected. Very old hotel and furniture, could be updated slightly, could have been better to justify the overpriced room rate. We enjoyed staying out more than the room itself, the room was clean but extremely hot compare to the outside weather. We were sweating most of the time. We were impressed with the Fast Check-in and Check-Out, All staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The restaurant was good specially the breakfast. Special thank to the young boy who accommodate our request in a very special and professional way. Thank you all

30/09/2017

Been staying at the hotel for numerous of nights over the past 3 weeks due to working in Inverness. I cant thank all the staff Robert,Izard,Zee and Hazel(i think) especially always going above and beyond to provide friendly service. Staff are always saying hello and asking how your days been, always smiling! My shower had a small leak nothing major but the hotel owner/manager was in the bathroom himself fixing it within 30mins!! Pretty impressed!! Nothing is to little or to big of a favour to ask from these guys! I work out with restraunt hours and staff have been kind enough to have something organised for my 10pm finish which has been a god send!! I would stay here at a leisure visit as well as business. Rooms are clean, spacious and bath is always a bounus!

The hotel is picturesque and has a nice garden area. We had a room in the annex, which was spacious, but might have preferred the ambiance in the main house. The breakfasts were quite good. Downtown Inverness is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk.

I have stayed at the hotel a couple of times now on business and have been well and truly spoilt with nothing being too much trouble for the staff who are lovely, especially Robert who makes me feel part of the family and always provides a warm welcome. Due to work I often have to eat out with normal restaurant times which was catered for no problem with delicious dishes being served. Compliments to the chef. Keep up the good work everyone, especially Harrison who is an absolute darling and will be a great hotelier in the future (he is two) xx

10/09/2017

Had an overnight stay here last minute and was not dissappointed. Stayed in a suite in the annexe building and it was excellent. Spacious, spotless, free wifi & complimentary tea, coffee and water. Had an evening meal and breakfast in the hotel both really good. But by far the best thing about this hotel was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered were fiendly, helpful and provided excellent service. A real credit to the hotel - Well done!

Used this hotel to begin and end the North Coast 500 touring holiday. First and last night stayed at this hotel - stayed before 2 years ago - still as good. One of our favourite hotels in Scotland - excellent quiet position, good food, very efficient friendly staff - cleanliness first class. Hope to return again.

"Convenient place to stay and eat in Inverness."

My wife (who uses a mobility scooter) and I needed a place to stay and dine for a couple of nights on a visit to Inverness: somewhere central and convenient for the Culloden battlefield site. This Best Western hotel ticked the right boxes for us. Our ground floor room was accessible, clean and comfortable, with parking very close to the room. The restaurant was also accessible, located in a very pleasant conservatory with views of the unexceptional garden, which was mainly laid to grass. Pleasant, helpful staff, excellent food and a reasonable location (in a residential area) helped to make our stay enjoyable. No complaints, but there is nothing outstanding this hotel.

"Good once, ordinary the next"

02/09/2017

Stayed mid August in the height of the season, once on the first occasion which we were treated as 5 star guests with a moderate price of 170 quid for a very nice refurbished and cared for room, staff were most polite and courteous and the staff at breakfast even more attentive. We continued our travels and returned to Inverness two days later only to find accommodation at peak pricing so we went back to a known quantity. We were offered a room for the price of 275 quid but offered to 'reduce it to 240 as we had stayed there before'. As there were little other options, we reluctantly accepted though the conversion would put our stay at nearly $500AU for the nights stay for 2 adults. When booking in, the feel was that of being hit up by a used car salesman - payment demanded straight away (in contrast to our first night) and an offer of a second night at the same rate of 240 quid (but we would have to change rooms). We declined as we'd booked elsewhere for 150 quid and when it was disclosed where the next night was, the male did his utmost to discredit the other accommodation as being 'inadequate and very ordinary' Ultimately, we stayed in a newer section of the hotel which was clean and tidy as per the first night, but for 240 quid, I'd have expected a little more then 3 UHT milk sachets, four instant coffee packs and tea which were provided as I felt gypped on the price and for the treatment on the second time around. Apart from the price, to offer bad reviews of another establishment in the same town close by is akin to childish seemingly because we chose the other option at 90 quid difference! Spoilt the review I was intending to leave as the first stay was faultless, the second was very ordinary - only gave poor as a rating over terrible because of the first nights stay, otherwise it was a D-.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at Best Western Plus Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest I am sorry to say that I think you are somewhat confused. The second room was one of our very best and was indeed our last one available. You booked it and on arrival enquired about a second night and then discovered that you were unable to cancel the accommodation you had just booked as you were arriving at our Hotel and before you checked with us regarding a second night. You did want to stay here for the second night but were then having to pay the other Hotel so went there. Given how happy you were when staying I cannot now understand the review. I hope you enjoyed your holiday. Kind regards Graeme

"Lovely Hotel for Family Visit"

ness to visit our daughter who'd recently moved there. I made a hash of the booking but the Hotel Management were totally flexible and allowed my to cancel one room free of charge when they were under no obligation to do so. When we arrived, they could not have been more welcoming and that was true for our whole stay. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast first class. We had a famiy dinner in the restaurant on the Saturday night and it was top quality. Overall, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the Hotel or the staff and would highly recommend Lochardil House to anyone visiting Inverness.

Absolutely amazing hotel. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff which is always full of smiles. Room was spotless and bathroom was well equipped with good amenities. Very comfortable room with great WiFi connection which is free. Great Scottish breakfast to start the day off. Location is great, just in the outskirts of Inverness but only a few minutes from Loch Ness and surrounding areas. Very nice gardens and very good value for money. All round fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.

My wife and I had two nights in one of the King suites this week. This is a charming hotel locate a few miles away from the city centre. Reception was very welcoming, and we found all staff went out of their way to please us. The room was very nice and opened to look out on a fine Scottish Garden with a table and two chairs. We started both days sitting out in this patio and planning the day after breakfast and found it very tranquil, so quiet, and a few squirrels running around made for some entertainment. Breakfast was lovely and very personal service, as was dinner. Lochardil House exceeded our expectations in every way and we strongly recommend it.

I stayed in a single room which was very well designed and with great décor. The en suite shower and toilet were a very good size. The breakfast was a buffet but there was a very good choice including Venison sausages. The service and welcome were great and the duty manager even agreed to take a picture of me. Reasonable value at £135 for one night B & B. The area where the hotel is situated is quiet so there is little or no traffic noise at night.

My wife and I changed logistics on our 30th Anniversary trip and needed to find a decent hotel in Inverness for a few days...unfortunately it was the August tourist frenzy AND the week of the local Highland Games festival. So like I suspect many Americans, I was a little apprehensive about booking a Best Western for several nights of a once and a lifetime trip. I'm so glad we did though! From the moment we walked in these people have been the most warm and genuinely inviting we've ever encountered in our travels. They go out of their way to ask if they can do anything more and to a person are always quick with a smile. I had mentioned in our booking thru Expedia that we were on our Anniversary and when we arrived there was a nice bottle of bubbly waiting and literally every staff member we met for two days congratulated us on our anniversary and asked if they could help make it more special. I work in the hospitality industry and am inundated with customer reviews/suggestions...which we appreciate in helping us improve...so I'm most happy to be able to provide a 100% glowing recommendation for these folks. Nice clean rooms, good local food and the nicest people you will find anywhere. Thanks for making our stay memorable in a way we would never have imagined with your exemplary service and hospitality!

"Excellent Hotel"

28/07/2017

This was our first visit to Scotland and one that we will remember. We were fortunate to book the hotel for 2 evenings. On our arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and efficient receptionist who could not have been more helpful. We were staying in room 34 in the Garden Rooms. On entering the room we were surprised how big the room was and even more surprised at the quality and size of the en-suite bathroom. The room and bathroom cleanliness was excellent. We have travelled to many counties and this is probably the best suite that we have had. We decided to dine in the hotels restaurant on our first evening having travelled most of the day. We were not disappointed by the quality of the food, environment and service. It was so good that we decided to invite friends for the following evening who were staying at another hotel in Inverness. They were also very impressed at the hotels qualities and surrounding with the hotel being situated in a magnificent building and grounds. I was unfortunate on our day of leaving to require emergency dental treatment. I approached the receptionist at 9-40 am to seek help . Without hesitation they contacted a local dentist and I had an appointment for 10-00 am. I asked for the address, but they insisted that I followed their car. I am so very gratefully for this. This was more than any guest could expect and saved me a lot of trauma. Thank you. All of the staff are very happy and this reflects in the way that they interact with staff. Nothing was too much of a problem. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would be happy to answer any questions .

Expectations were low having stayed at Beaufort Hotel last week but Lochardil really was excellent. I arrived late and missed last orders for food but they gladly arranged room service which was still freshly made. Breakfast too had extensive options. The staff were all very pleasant which can be rare in Inverness where tourism is guaranteed. Bedroom was adequate and with an impressive bathroom. Reasonable price too. The hotel is located in a fairly residential setting (fairly central to town) but the houses are stunning. Plenty grounds available for relaxing around the hotel. Internal decor is impressive - old mansion feel and with plenty space. The only downside was this is not a pet friendly hotel.

A delayed flight from Orkney meant we unexpectedly had to spend the night in Inverness. Finding a decent room at a good price was tricky at short notice but booking.com came up with a discounted room at this Best Western. I'm not a big fan of this chain but the rate of £117 sounded pretty good so we thought we'd give it a go. I was surprised at how nice it was. Lovely late 19th century building, comfy rooms and a good breakfast buffet with add on freshly cooked items like kippers & poached eggs. A very good deal.

The staff was very warm and welcoming. Breakfast was good with beautiful views. We stayed here 2 nights, and was a very last minute decision. The room had good views however we found the room to be a bit dated, and could do with a bit of refurbishment. The property is less than 5 minutes drive from everything you want to see in Inverness.

The hotel on its own was ok but it was made great by the service I received. The staff are a credit to the hotel and I can't give any higher praise for the staff than I'm giving now!!! I stayed here with my 85 year old mother. The staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. Our room in the garden wing was spacious and very clean with everything we needed. Housekeeping was first class. The beds were very comfortable and were provided with plenty of pillows of different types to suit all needs. Dining room staff were attentive and worked hard. We observed them being extremely patient with a couple of guests who I would have said lacked basic good manners. Food at dinner was tasty and there was a reasonable choice for me as a vegetarian. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel in the garden wing. The accomodation was clean and to a high standard. I ate in the restaurant which offered a great selection on the menu...the food was of a high standard at reasonable prices...(better than Kingsmills which I stayed in the previous week) . The most outstanding quality was the staff...without exception they were all friendly and happy to help. My only suggestion would be bath robes and maybe updating the bar....perhaps a refurb and gin bar would bring it right up to date....but please keep the staff..

My husband and I recently stayed at this lovely hotel for 3 nights. Graeme MacBean booked us in and was very helpful both on line and when we were there. The whole staff were great and saw to our every need. We had a large room in the new block with a walk out patio, which we loved. The room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and served in the sunroom with a view of the gardens. We had guests one night and the dining room and chef made sure everything was perfect! There are many different sitting areas in this beautiful castle hotel and a nice pub. We loved how the hotel was away from the crowds and every day we walked in to town- down the hill and along the river. This was an added treat. I highly recommend this hidden jewel and we will definitely stay there again!

We had a spacious, nicely decorated and immaculately clean room in the garden annexe which is more modern than the main building. The staff in all parts of the hotel were exceptionally pleasant and efficient and went out of their way to help. The restaurant looked very inviting so we did not feel the need to go out and find another place to eat, the dinner was delicious as was breakfast the next day. The car park was large with generous spaces for all cars. The hotel is in a quiet residential part of town and I felt it was all quite secure. The gardens are beautiful and are well maintained.

Brilliant. I am a little compromised for breath these days, and knew that there was no lift in the building, but decided thaat I could cope. When I checked in quite late, the gentleman on the desk insisted that one of the porters took my bag up to my room, then the porter checked I was OK when we got there and asked if I needed a glass of water. Excellent service. This is a solo trip this time and I have been getting re-acquainted with single rooms. This is one of the best appointed single rooms I have been in. It had everything you could desire and still felt relatively spacious. Staff on the breakfasts were utterly charming and engaging. The breakfst itself was in part a buffet, but you could order kippers or poached eggs, for instance, from the kitchen. Quality of sausages, puddings etc. was very good. Checkout was efficient.

This is a lovely hotel with the main lodge in a historic building with a modern annex and excellent rooms. The hotel is about a mile from the city center. We stayed in the annex with a spacious room and a "super king size bed." We learned that many hotels in Scotland refer to the super King size as a typical American king bed. The Scottish King size bed is actually a queen.

20/05/2017

We loved the stay at the Best Western Lochardil hotel - it is a lovely old hotel in a nice quiet residential area of Inverness. As a result it was very quiet and peaceful to stay in whilst still being close to the sights of Inverness. The main historic building is beautiful and this is where the Restauarant and Breakfast room are located as well. We stayed in one of the suites in the newer part of the hotel and it was a lovely large room with lots of space, a separate seating area and large bathroom with separate shower and bath. The hotel also has lovely gardens to walk in and form a nice background for the restaurant views. Breakfast was excellent with nice fresh fruits, pastries and cooked selections which were all of a very high quality. We also chose to eat both nights of our stay at the hotel restaurant and had excellent, good value meals and would strongly recommend it as a convenient and tasty meal option. The hotel is located about 1 mile from town centre and there is a beautiful walk along the River Ness to make this a wonderful experience. This is the best way to see views of the Inverness castle as well as you approach the town. Overall we loved the hotel and would strongly recommend it as a great place to stay in Inverness for a quiet relaxing location.

We stayed here for two consecutive weekends whilst we went and did the North Coast 500. We had a delightful room in the new building that faced onto the garden and was very quiet and so comfortable. The staff throughout the hotel were charming and the service in all areas was excellent. We dined in the restaurant on three evenings and the food was superb. There was a good choice on the menu, together with some daily specials. Breakfasts were superb with a good choice of hot food. This is a superb hotel and out of interest we also looked at a room in the original part of the hotel, which is a magnificent old classic stone building, and the rooms here are lovely as well. It is all so well maintained and a delight to stay here. This is definitely a hotel to come back to and is in convenient location just out of town.

We had a nice room which was of good size, nicely furnished and was very clean. Parking was free and there was plenty of spaces around the hotel. The hotel has pleasant gardens. The evening restaurant served a good menu and the food was very good. Wine was reasonably priced and service was friendly and good. Breakfast was excellent with a good buffet selection and eggs to order. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only reservation would be that I am disabled and the stairs were very hard. Help was provided with the luggage but disabled guests should check with the hotel before booking.

23/04/2017

I booked this hotel last minute for a short overnight stay in Inverness on Easter Weekend. I was surprised to find any vacancies as it was Easter. The hotel was situated in a quiet, part of Inverness surrounded by a lovely woodland garden, very peaceful away from the city, but convenient, as only a half hour walk into town or a few minutes in a taxi. Also handy for Fairways Golf Club. We were greeted very friendly and warmly, and the room was lovely and large with fabulous sized bath tub and shower. Lovely views out over the garden. We had arranged to have an ice bucket delivered as it was my partners birthday. So we enjoyed a nice drink before dinner. We were not particularly hungry so shared a lovely starter of pate, followed by delicious fish and chips (lovely crispy batter) the dining room was very quiet but the staff were very attentive and polite. The background music was as if someone had raided my ipod, all the music was exactly my taste. Breakfast is also served in the conservatory and we had excellent service again, the cooked selection was delicious and the poached eggs we asked for were perfectly cooked. I would definately stay here again as we appreciated the charm of the old building an the history of it. A hidden gem

I really like this hotel for several reasons, the first being the warm welcome you receive upon arrival. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. On this visit my room was upgraded to one in the annexe and it was superb. A king size bed and king size, very modern wet room bathroom/ toilet all supported with good tea/coffee making facilities. The standard of service is matched by a simple menu of well cooked food. The hotel is on the west side of inverness, surrounded by attractive gardens and in a peaceful location. I have visited several times on business and never been disappointed. well done Lochardil.

We have stayed at this very friendly Family run Hotel now for the last few years, both for business and Pleasure, the owners and staff are always eager and keen to help out with any commitment you might have, even when they are very busy with wedding parties/works conventions etc. they always make time and space for there "normal residents",Staying in Inverness can be very expensive, there prices are always keen, rooms are clean and tidy and there breakfast is always fresh and caters for all dietary needs............. I personally would stay there just for the "Scottish cooked Breakfast"

We stayed here for one night while visiting family. We were impressed by the warm welcome and the helpful staff. Our son was in the main building in a very small single room but the size was indicated on the booking form so no issues with that. He loved the big bath! We stayed in the annex and had a spacious and comfortable room. Appreciated the fact that the windows could be opened and that a fan was provided as I find most hotel rooms too warm. Breakfast was lovely. Best asset was the staff - very friendly and helpful. Loved our short stay here.

The old building was beautiful in it's time I'm sure, but the 70's & 90's style updates to the conference room & the auxillary building left much to be desired. Staff was friendly, breakfast was nice.

Dear Guest I am not sure what exactly you are referring to - 70's style updates ? etc. Perhaps you are reviewing another Hotel ? Kind regards Graeme

Stayed in hotel for two nights in the new garden wing while in Inverness for family reasons. Our room was on the ground floor with double doors that opened out into a patio area / gardens. The room was very good, spacious, great shower, comfortable bed, tea/coffee, daily housekeeping, warm and cosy, yet with ability to open the garden doors for some fresh, clean Inverness air. Lovely breakfast in the conservatory and very professional, friendly staff. Will be sure to recommend to others and would most certainly stay again when needed. 10/10.

Booked this hotel for my daughters birthday. These are her views as I haven't been. On arrival, the reception acknowledged her birthday, nice touch. They also offered a free upgrade to a suite. Room was huge and very comfortable, bathroom was also large and very modern. Everything was clean and fresh. They didn't stay for lunch as they had other plans but said that the breakfast buffet was excellent, very fresh with lots of choice. Wish I'd gone with them now, sounded great. Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Did get a quick video tour via messenger on arrival, looked superb.

Dear Mark I am delighted that your daughter enjoyed her birthday present from you. It was nice having them to stay and we hope that you may come and see for yourself the choice you made for her. Kind regards Graeme

"Old Manor House in Quiet Part of Inverness"

20/11/2016

This hotel is located in a very quiet suburb of Inverness. It is an old manor house which has had a residential wing added along with a glass breakfast room overlooking the gardens. We had a Jnr Suite on the first Floor of the new wing (there was no lift but only one flight of stairs). The room was large with plenty of space for the two seater lounge and two comfortable chairs and coffee table. The window overlooked the gardens. Bathroom was very large with separate bath and shower. Pressure and temperature were great. The breakfast buffet had a good range of choices, with additional hot options available to order. The breakfast room transforms to the restaurant in the evenings. It is an easy 10 min drive into restaurants in Inverness town centre, but we ate at the hotel several times and were never disappointed. The bar/lounge area in the manor house is great for a pre/post dinner drink - and also serves more casual meals. As is often the case the aspect that makes a hotel standout is the staff - and so it is with this hotel. All the staff were helpful and genuinely friendly. In particular I would commend Lesley at breakfast and in the restaurant - a real delight.

Stayed here for 2 nights in the Fraser Suite. As an Outlander fan this made me smile! A huge great room. Really nice. The hotel is lovely and the staff are kind and helpful. Dined one night in restaurant. Food was great however my husband would have liked larger portions. He does have a huge appetite. Breakfast was good too - buffet style so larger portions. I liked reading the history of the main sandstone building and looking at the tapestry room. I love Victorian history. Thank you for a lovely stay.

25/10/2016

We stayed 2 nights recently. Our room was in the accommodation block next to Victorian mansion that forms the rest of this nice hotel. Our accommodation was very good and the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. There is lots of parking on site and the hotel was nice gardens. The centre of Inverness can be reached by walking for 20-25 minutes (part of that walk is alongside the River Ness). There is the option of the No. 7 bus for the less active.

Boy did we get the Royal treatment at this hotel. Now only was it appointed beautifully but the staff was a out of the ballpark home run. Our room was good size with a large brand new bathroom. It was done in wine color and ivory. We had lunch and dinner at the conservatory which is all glassed in with lovely views of the gardens. Please don't pass up the mushroom crostini. Deliciousness.

This hotel is hidden away in a quieter part of the city. I use it regularly for business trips and right from my first visit I received a warm welcome. The staff are attentive to your needs and look after guests extremely well. It's an ideal base for business trips, but also for touring the Highlands if you want to get away from the hotels jam-packed with coach trippers.

My wife and I booked a last minute trip to this hotel. On arriving at the hotel they hadn't received the information. All they asked was I show them the email confirmation and they got us a room straight away. They ended up giving us an upgraded room which was more than we asked for. The bed was comfortable and the doors led onto the garden which was well maintained and also looked amazing. We went for dinner that evening and the staff were so attentive and polite. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere in the dinning area was just so peaceful and lovely really did make us feel relaxed and enjoying our time there. Would definitely go back to this hotel, even without the upgraded room.

We really loved our 2 night stay at the Lochardil House Hotel. Our room was in the main building (there is another building close by) and was spacious with a lovely large bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Lots of tv channels. Tea and coffee station with shortbread. The hotel is located 2 miles outside of Inverness, and doesn't have good bus connections. You could walk but might take about a half hour. We had a car so drove and found it very easy to get parking in the city centre. Breakfast was in a glass conservatory and the staff were really nice. Great options for breakfast. I would absolutely stay here again!!

This is what we would consider a perfect holiday. Right from the beginning the manager Robert was on the phone with us after we booked this hotel for 3 nights. The staff were even outside to receive us at the hotel and his staff was on standby to help us carry our big suitcase and show us our room. The restaurant was meant to close at 21:00 that night but since we were travelling over from Edinburgh, Robert already booked a table for us. The hospitality we have received here is just beyond written expression. With regards to the property itself, it deserves to be a 5 star hotel. The room we were given was picturescue, the toilets were spotless and the bar has a wide range of beverages. We wish this hotel the very best of success it deserves and it will be on our named list of places the next time we come up north. Superb food, terrific atmosphere and friendly staff. There is also a mini garden for children to play in just outside their restaurant. The only downside is that Tripadvisor does not let me give a business more than 5 stars because this establishment absolutely deserves more.

Don't be put off by the Best Western Brand, this is a lovely hotel in a great location less than 2 miles from Inverness. The standout feature of the hotel is the quality of all the staff that we encountered. Friendly, efficient and informative. The dining atrium for dinner and breakfast was light, airy and comfortable. The dinner menu was interesting and the food quality and presentation was excellent. Our room was comfortable. In brief, the overall feel of the hotel was excellent.

"Nice hotel but too pricey"

03/08/2016

This hotel is nicely situated on the outskirts of Inverness and is an impressive Victorian building. The car park is nice and big and seems secure. We had a large room in the annexe on the groundfloor which had patio doors to a small area outside. The hotel was nice and peaceful and we had a good nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good as was breakfast the next morning. So, overall the hotel was good but compared to other hotels on our travels across Scotland this was just way too pricey.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest Thanks so much for your very kind words. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Inverness is always busy and especially so just now. I feel we offer good value to our guests but of course in other areas of the country which are perhaps not as busy then prices there may well reflect this. Our pricing is clearly indicated in various online platforms and we are very often much less expensive than other properties. Kind regards Graeme

"Restaurant staff need a place to gossip"

4
03/08/2016

Great service and accommodation this time. However the efficient restaurant staff have to congregate at the door to gossip. They should not stare at guests even though it is after 9pm as if they are desperate for them to leave.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest Thank you for your kind comments about the service and accommodation. Our Restaurant Staff are very often the subject of great praise so I am a little bewildered by your view on them. I can assure you that they most certainly would not be 'desperate' for you to leave. I think there has been some confusion. Kind regards Graeme

24/07/2016

Had an unscheduled overnight stay at this hotel as I was too tired to complete my long journey home from Durness. What a find - we were in one of the garden rooms which was excellent with French doors opening on to beautiful gardens. We chose not to dine in the restaurant and ordered room service which was excellent. Breakfast was served in the conservatory and consisted of an excellent selection of cooked food as well as continental fare. There were plenty of staff of duty and everyone was extremely efficient as well as friendly. I would definately stay here again.

24/07/2016

This is a lovely small hotel within easy reach of Inverness and the road network for travel, yet tucked away in a quiet area. Our ground floor room (24) in the "Garden" area was spacious and clean, well furnished with a comfortable bed and a substantial bathroom. All the staff, and in particular Robert, went out of their way to make us welcome. Whilst we had intended to eat both in the hotel and elsewhere during our stay, the choice and quality of the food in the Conservatory restaurant decided us to stay at the hotel for dinner each night as, after a full days travelling and sightseeing, there seemed no point going out anywhere else. Everything you needed was here.

After staying in and around Inverness I stumbled upon what can only be described as a hidden gem. I could not find a single fault with the place or the staff who went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic stay. They have a vast array of meals on their menu which could easily cater for the most picky of people. I stayed in the Lochardil for 4 nights due to work, I've stayed in quite a few hotels but never have I received such better service and quality. The food was delicious and the room was lovely but mainly, The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay. The hotel manager Robert especially who very kindly drove me to the local tesco as he knew I'm not familiar with Inverness and I told him I have no sense of direction! A group of us stayed at Lochardil as we were taking part in a local cycling event. Very friendly welcome, and no bother to store bikes securely in the garage. Nice room, recently refurbished. No big, but big enough. Early breakfast was arranged for the cyclists, which was much appreciated, often a problem area in Scottish hotels ! Overall, a good choice and would go back if in the area again.

Arrived and found the rooms to be lovely, the suite we were staying in had a fantastic bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we were part of a cycling event and they put an early breakfast on for us.I would recommend the place and would come back anytime

We stayed one night here out of a week around Scotland, Room wasn't very spacious for two but we were only sleeping there so it's fine, lovely castle like house thingy... Looks old inside, defo would say it's probably haunted ??... But the lady at reception was really nice and helpful, we walked into the city which wasn't far and a really nice walk down the river, breakfast was great, really good full English breakfast buffet and huge fresh fruit and the staff were good too! Overall was happy with the stay! Although bed was abit soft for me but you can't please everyone 100%!!

"Not that impressed."

OK, so I booked a single room and what I got was a small room which, realistically, was only just large enough. The bathroom helped to compensate for this as it had a decent bath with shower over and it was quite spacious. Not sure about the meal, the starter was fine but I had the trout which was about as tasteless as a piece of wet cardboard. It must have been on offer as I was presented with a soup type bowl with five totally boneless pieces all piled on top of each other! Luckily I got a good night's sleep even though there was a wedding party with "thump thump" music although it all seemed to calm down soon after 10:30. I could also hear the bed creaking in the next door room but assume it was a single like mine as the creaking didn't amount to much!

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest Thank you for your review. We do have 3 small single rooms - very clearly described as such. It is a choice we offer taken by some even when larger rooms are available. Glad you had a good night's sleep, Unsure of the problem you had with the trout as not mentioned on the night to us and not commented on by anyone else. Kind regards Graeme

Lovely hotel in a great location. We only stayed one night but found the staff friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Would recommend this hotel.

Held my 40th here and was very impressed with the staff and facilities. Robert in particular was very helpful, friendly and laid-back. Last minute changes were no problem. Some guests thought the drinks were too expensive but they were pretty compatible to other hotels. A great night was had by all and I'd thoroughly recommend this for a function.

Fine accommodations with plenty of parking and a small town charm. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very large in the family size rooms. The restaurant has a great breakfast featuring local cuisine, and the dinner was also enjoyable. A little outside the downtown area, but not far from anything you want to get to.

"Lovely hotel (if you stay on the new block)"

20/01/2016

I have mixed things to say about the place. I think the place is lovely, a bit far off from the centre (2 miles approx) but it's so beautiful. However my experience would not have been the same had I to stay in the old block. The rooms are much smaller and old. New block was great, well appointed and with a large bathroom. The hotel has a large restaurant and a private garden. A recommended property as long as you are driving or have access to a car. Not very convenient if you want to walk.

GCGM-Inverness, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Inverness Lochardil House Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest Thank you for your kind review. We are indeed just under 2 miles from the centre, which we clearly indicate. Lots of parking and quiet unlike some in centre. Our main Hotel rooms are traditional and indeed vary in size - as one would expect in a Victorian Mansion house. Many prefer that others the more modern Garden Wing - the choice is a matter of taste. Kind regards Graeme

I use The Lochardil Hotel often for work trips. Lovely hotel, great surroundings, nice rooms, comfy beds, great showers and good food. No complaints at all. However what has to be highlighted is the staff - nothing is ever a problem, each and every one go above and beyond to ensure myself and/or my colleagues are welcome and well looked after. A real pleasure.

Always an excellent stay at the Lochardil. Good food and great service have made for a positive experience every time I have stayed there. I have tried many hotels in Inverness and, unless a gym is high on your priority list, in my opinion you won't find a better one.

The staff are very helpful, the breakfast buffet is good and the rooms are large and clean. Used hotel as a highlands tour base for a five day stay. There is a nice garden area to the rear of the main hotel which is great for sitting with a book and a glass of wine during the brief sunny spells during the Inverness summer. The location is south of the main dining and shopping area of Inverness so you will need a taxi or be willing to take a longish stroll ( watch out for the "hill" on the last leg back).

It's some years since I've stayed here and was pleased to see not much has changed as far as the welcome is concerned. The accommodation has certainly upgraded and the food is as good as ever. Stayed in the annexe, which didn't exist on my previous visit, in a large well appointed room. Friendly staff who were attentive without being intrusive. Will look forward to another visit.

"Fine but 4.5 stars!"

01/12/2015

First visit to Inverness & somehow booked the wrong Best Western as this one is a 5min taxi from city centre & as only going for a couple of days not ideal, if you are driving fine but that was my stupid fault. The hotel was friendly throughout staff helpful and nice, we were given a free room upgrade which was a spacious, clean suit situated in the annex opposite main building unfortunately there was an awful stench in the large bathroom which was probably due to the amount of rain causing the drains to struggle so made no issue. We have no complaints but feel 4.5 starts should be an exceptional hotel where as this is better than average. The negatives for us were, room not in main building in & out for breakfast, diner & felt detached, diner roast beef was overdone but not charged for still a shame as should be nice & rare, and breakfast had a buffet choice which if hotel is busy ok but much prefer cooked fresh to order. All in all a nice friendly hotel but lacked a bit of buzz but in truth so did Inverness mid week in winter.

"Weekend for a wedding"

3
28/11/2015

Stayed here for a wedding. It booked up quickly so we ended up with the smallest room in the place. It was compact, but still enough space for two people to get ready without stepping on each other. Decor throughout the hotel was a bit dated and tired, could do with a bit of a facelift. The place was clean and tidy and the facilities were good. We ate in the conservatory restaurant the first night and it was lovely. The wedding venue was good too, but again, felt a bit tired. Bit of a trek from the city centre, but we didn't have to leave the grounds.

Have stayed here several times for last couple of years & one of the most warm, welcoming & comfortable hotels you could stay in. The team whether it be the owner, manager, reception, bar or restaurant are extremely helpful, friendly & attentive without being intrusive - we love the place! Rooms are very clean & decor in keeping with the building. New building has bigger & more modern rooms, however I've had no reason to complain regardless of what room I've been allocated! If you want a warm, welcoming, charming hotel to stay in in Inverness with a great & customer focused team, Lochardil is the place for you! Good has always been lovely from breakfast, lunch or dinner. A real home from home!

"A CULTURE OF SERVICE AND CUSTOMER FOCUS"

We have just spent three most enjoyable nights at Lochardil House. The warm welcome from the manager on our arrival was matched by every single member of staff during our stay. The Fraser suite was palatial, clean, warm and comfortable. The restaurant was so good that we abandoned plans to sample other eateries in Inverness and stayed at the hotel each night. This was a good decision as every meal, dinner and breakfast was delicious. No pictures on plates - just delicious food pleasantly served. My partner had a big birthday on the Thursday and we returned to our suite mid afternoon to find complimentary Prosecco and card from the staff. Lochardil deserves is ratings, deserves to continue to thrive and should we come back to Inverness, guess where we will be staying. Thank you to all of you.

20/10/2015

I had the pleasure of staying at Lochardil while attending a friend's wedding which was held in the hotel function suite. I was given a very friendly welcome on my arrival and this was a theme echoed throughout my three day stay. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive, nothing was too much bother, and they went out of their way to ensure my stay was pleasurable. The meals were outstanding, the table service excellent, the accommodation and housekeeping first class. I can honestly describe my stay as one of the most homely and relaxing experiences. The wedding and reception were outstanding, the details of which I will leave for the happy couple to post... I cannot praise the hotel and the staff highly enough, I would recommend Lochardil House Hotel for both hospitality and professionalism..whether it's for a short break or an important function, this hotel is top notch... When I return to Inverness I will definitely return to Lochardil...

"Wedding"

20/10/2015

Our daughter married at the Lochardil hotel last weekend and it was amazing, exceeding all our expectations. Throughout all the planning Robert was calmly efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating, nothing was a bother. The day before and the day of the wedding it was like they had just opened the door of their lovely building to us and said "Make yourselves at home." Many of the wedding guests booked rooms at the hotel, some for 4 nights, others just for day of wedding and not only was there absolutely no complaints, they went out of their way to say to us how lovely all the staff were both throughout their stay and during the wedding. The serving of the wedding meal itself was extremely slick and overseen by Robert and served extremely efficiently by the lovely staff. Whilst they can't take credit for the beautiful weather, they can take pride in the lovely grounds which we used for photographs. I cannot recommend The Lochardil Hotel highly enough with their lovely rooms, extremely efficient, friendly staff and superb catering both in the hotel restaurant and on day of wedding itself. Many thanks.

"Spacious Room / Great Bar"

07/10/2015

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Granted we stayed in a suit, it was an amazing room. Huge bathroom. Large parking area. A bit far from downtown, but about 6 GBP for a taxi or a nice 25 minute walk along the river. Nice seating area outside for drinks or food. Large dining area. Breakfast was pretty good, not outstanding. Beds were super comfortable. I wish we would have stayed here longer, and did day trips out of this hotel rather than going to some smaller B & Bs that were tiny and had old worn out beds.

"DONT BE PUT OFF BY POOR QUALITY MARKETING IMAGES OF THIS HOTEL"

25/09/2015

This ia a great Hotel, in a great place, with great rooms and a great dining experience. The Best Western Lochardil House Hotel sits South of the River Ness in a slightly elevated position in the Inverness suburb of Lochardil. lochardil, is approx. 1.5 miles West of the centre of Inverness - approx £6-£7 taxi ride from Inverness Railway Station. It is straightforward to walk to the Hotel but I imagine it would take you half and hour. The Hotel is like a large Scottish Country House - built in the style of a small Castle with occasional turrets. In the past ten years, a Garden Annex has been added to generate additional rooms to the rooms that sit within the old house. I have stayed at this Hotel on two occasions and on each have had a room in the Annex - I cannot comment on the condition, size and decor of the room in the main house but certainly in the Annex, rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and furnished with matching hard and soft furnishings. The Hotel has a well ordered and well maintained Garden area to the front with well established shrubs and tree's including some uncommon tree's I've not seen before. A good place on a sunny / dry day for an outside gathering of Friends and Family. Breakfast - is Buffet Style with the option to order a small number of items to be cooked to order. The buffet is comprehensive and regardless of the time we were able to eat breakfast (for us this varied) the buffet was never tired, dry or past it's sell by date. Everything seemed fresh and appealing. The Black-pudding was a particular favourite and is sourced fairly locally from Stornaway. The Hotel supports the local market and tries to source all fresh goods from Inverness and surrounding area. Dinner is generally a set menu with good and varied choices. The menu didnt change whilst we were there over three days but each day, there were specials. Again the quality of the locally sourced food was superb. No faults at all. Service - great. It seemed to us that the two main staff serving in the Restaurant were Brother and Sister probably from Eastern Europe - both speak good English and were very pleasant and attentive. We go to Inverness frequently and in the past have use the Palace Hotel - another Best Western. It was only when they couldnt accommodate us on one occassion that we sourced and found the Lochardil House Hotel. I'm glad we did. This will certainly be our Hotel of choice in future.

This is our first time to Scotland and we have so far stayed in Glasgow, Drymen, Edinburgh and now Inverness. We have enjoyed our holiday immensely...so much to see and do! However, I must say the loveliest hotel so far has been at The Lochardil House (Best Western Plus) in Inverness. The hotel is beautifully maintained and elegant. Our rooms in the Garden Wing are truly beautiful. The staff has been exceptionally helpful in the care of an injured member of our party and a missing wallet from a cab. Extremely professional and friendly staff and guests alike. We have enjoyed our stay and almost regret having to move on to the next leg of our journey.

This hotel is in a very convenient location for those wanting to visit Urquhart Castle or any other nearby attractions. We stayed here for one night at their top most rooms.
