"Wedding"

20/10/2018

I got married at the pennine manor. Firstly the music we put on CD was jumping on some songs. We played it over and over to make sure it was right. But when it was played at our wedding it was jumping. Also my friend at booked her room for the night of the wedding only to be told there wasn't a room for her she had to go to the hotel down the road. Which the hotel paid extra. But they should have made sure her room was booked. Also 2 other couples got put into a superior room and got charged more even though they booked a double room. In the end they got there over payment back. Then the sign on the bar confused all our guests it said by 10.30 all guests must pay my credit or debit and and it would be credited to there room which obviously not all guests booked rooms so most of the guests were leaving by 10.30. I told them to take the sign down because for weddings cash bar is open till 11.45. A bar man said it had to stay up. I had to chase after the manager half the night over this. In the end I ended up telling the band to announce this over the microphone. In the morning I had a word with the receptionist she said the sign shouldn't have been there. Then in the morning it took them ages to find our marriage certificate. The day was ok and the food. But night time was a complete disaster that spoilt most of our wedding night. I've e mailed the hotel twice so did my friend and none of us as received an e mail back. If people get married there look out for that bar sign

Dear bev s Thank you for taking the time to share your experience It is disappointing to read your review as having re investigated the events the general manager did speak to you and all your feedback was addressed after your wedding. The general manager also spoke to and emailed your friend and dealt with the feedback directly. The majority of our guests are very pleased with what we have to offer, as can be seen by the many positive reviews posted on social media. Please rest assured we have taken on board all of your comments and we have discussed your review at length with the management and the team to avoid what you have reported reoccurring. Assuring you of our very best intentions.

Stayed here for 3 nights as we had a family party being held here. Staff were very friendly and the room and bed were nice. Pillows weren't firm enough; I felt like they should be replaced. Also the bath robes were very small. Tissues weren't very soft either. Just little niggles but things like this make all the difference!!

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Tracshaw Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is really great to hear that the team were welcoming and friendly and that the bed itself was comfortable. I will pass your comments on to the hotel regarding the pillows, tissues and bathrobes.

We had a one night accommodation requirement for a family visit. We chose the Pennine Manor because of its locality, price and the fact that we could take our two standard Poodles with us. The hotel was perfect for our needs. Good size room catered for us all without any problems and good food to boot. Shame about the weather.

rsdeckers, Public Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Stephen L Than you very much for your review I will make sure your comments are passed on to the team. Looking forward to welcoming you back the Pennine, fingers crossed for the weather!

At the start of September I was a bridesmaid at a wedding held at the Pennine manor. I cannot praise the staff more highly. The wedding coordinator made the day run so smoothly, the waiting on staff were so accommodating, the bar staff made us laugh and the night porter was brilliant! The views were fab for photos and we were so impressed with the food. We stayed the night before the wedding and had a dinner with 18 other guests - we had the choice of burgers or fish and chips and both were really tasty. The next morning we had breakfast, which we couldn't fault. There's nothing like breakfast with the views and the horses right outdoors. The staff were able to accommodate hair stylist and MUA while we were getting ready and checked in on us. During the day, staff were a well oiled machine, and the say ran smoother than smooth! I have to praise the night staff and the bar staff who were great, especially Aaron! Finally, the night porter (Portuguese guy) pulled up some chairs for us at the end of the night (for the bride, groom, bridesmaid and my partner) and we sat and ate the rest of the wedding cake and digested the day. Also, we were so impressed with our room, beautifully decorated, spacious and clean! We will definitely be back!

Myself and 4 friends stayed at Pennine Manor at the end of June as we were travelling from John O'Groats to Lands End on our motorbikes. We arrived late and the manager and the team could not have been more helpful in arranging food for us at a late hour. As we were departing early for the trip to Lands End, breakfast was laid our for us early. I would like to particularly mention Raphael who gave us exceptional level of service during our stay. Thank you very much indeed for a very comfortable stay.

Thoroughly recommend this hotel for a wedding - Lucy, Nick and the team looked after us and all our guests throughout the weekend and made it run seamlessly. Our 3 course meal was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Great views and rooms were very clean and tidy.

We only stayed one night but this is the best value dinner bed and breakfast we have had in a long time. £72 for two ( not each) including anything from the menu for dinner. Basic three star hotel, clean, comfortable beds, Nice position, friendly cheerful and helpful staff and a decent bar. What's not to like.

19/07/2018

Just stayed one night with my dog. Hotel has great views and my ground floor room was clean and comfortable. Had a meal in the restaurant and the food from a quite extensive menu was tasty and well presented. Breakfast was fine, I don't eat a cooked breakfast. I found all the staff were pleasant, efficient and friendly. The dog was welcomed by the staff rather than just tolerated which was nice.

Location excellent, good views, large car park. Staff friendly and helpful. Room needed brightening up - bathroom looking grubby, could do with new fittings. As mentioned before, the strange dark curtains don't help. Outside if there were a few flowers and hanging baskets it would transform the appearance and a few more outside tables would help the welcome. Food was ok nothing special. Not expensive, but you get what you pay for.

"Rather disappointed!"

19/06/2018

We arrived after some difficulty finding the place as we do not have Satnav. The welcome was less than enthusiastic from the person on the desk. I did mention this to the manager the following morning. The journey to the room required a trip with luggage through four fire doors. No help was offered. The long corridor on the was was bare and gloomy with a very stained carpet. Perhaps I should not have booked a standard double. It was dark and gloomy with brown net curtains to accentuate this. In the room the duvet was not correctly inserted in its cover and a rather grubby bit was sticking out the end. We re-did it but the cover had no fastenings to keep it in. We had dinner in the hotel. In spite of the great views from the dining room, this was served in the bar. It was challenging for non meat eaters with a risotto being the only clear choice. We had fish but even then had to ask for pancetta to be taken out of the potato. The dish that came was very tasty. The service was not the best! On a positive note, the breakfast was good and had a view. The young man in charge was very helpful Sorry we won't support previous reviews but we will not return.

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear ViewerBath Thanks for your review I am sorry that you had difficulty in finding the hotel and that your welcome was not as warm as it would normally be. We endeavour to offer assistance with luggage and both of your comments will be brought up with reception. All our food is freshly prepared and there are 4 starters and 6 main courses that are suitable for non meat eaters , We are always happy to accommodate guest's requirements wherever possible. The bedrooms have been decorated to create a relaxing, cosy and homely feel which we are trying to achieve I am sorry that the decor is not to your taste. We always want everyone to be happy and if you are ever not happy please do tell us at the time and we will rectify the situation and make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. I am glad that you had a good breakfast to set you up for your onward journey and hopefully you may return to give us a second chance

10/06/2018

A wonderful gem of a place situated high upon the Pennines with spectacular views. Arrived on a very warm day and was greeted with an even warmer welcome. The room was well sized, clean and well fitted. The food in the restaurant was way above average, with some delightful additions not found in most restaurants. Some good twists on old favourites and game was included as a selection choice. All dishes were devoured with gusto and relished. The staff throughout the stay were polite, helpful and informative. The atmosphere made you feel relaxed and valued. A experience that sadly is not met everywhere these days. There is ample parking on site and it is in a good and clear condition. Great sunsets, and a place we hope to return to again.

"Glorious location. Great food"

05/06/2018

We arrived here on a warm and sunny afternoon and were bowled over by the view. Stunning. It really raises your spirits after a hard day. So it was a real surprise to find everything inside so dark, brown and gloomy. Even the rooms had brown net curtains with dark green or brown decorations and upholstery. The wonderful sunshine outside just couldn't get in. What a shame. Our room was OK, but the bed was too hard for me, as hotel beds always used to be, but I thought that things had improved a bit recently. There was just one bedside light with a bulb in that was so dim it wasn't possible to read, and even this bulb gave up the ghost while we were there - rapidly replaced when reported to staff, but not noticed by the housekeeping staff, as we had left the old one that didn't work out for them to see. They also hadn't noticed that there was no TV remote in the room when we arrived, again rapidly provided when reported. As we were leaving another guest was reporting that the tap in his bathroom had come off. The rooms here are a bit in need of a refresh. But the great news was the meals. We were a moderately large party of 12 or so and the differing orders for dinner and breakfast were taken promptly and served promptly and correctly. The food was delicious - everything really nicely cooked - and the serving staff were efficient and friendly and amusing. Breakfasts were sometimes individual orders and sometimes a hot buffet as well as cold, depending on how many guests were staying. All were excellent, with lovely fruit salad and all the usual cooked things. So a wonderful location, great bar and terrific restaurant. Brighten up the rooms and the housekeeping and this place will be amazing.

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Kate F Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Delighted that you enjoyed our location and food whilst staying with us and any requests that you had were dealt with promptly. "Les Mis night"

4
30/05/2018

I bought tickets to this event and found this to be a charming and friendly hotel. Although I found the actual Les Mis experience disappointing (I am a massive fan and so knew nothing would compare to the production and concerts themselves) the food that was served for the evening meal was excellent. The waiters, if a little unsure of themselves, were polite. When we asked for a jug of water we were told we had to collect our own from the bar, despite the fact that other tables had jugs served to their tables. When we challenged them on this, a jug was brought to our table. The bar is comfortable and we stayed in their until the early hours we felt so relaxed and we were having such an enjoyable time. A couple of members of staff (I think one may have been a manager) addressed me by my first name which I really liked. It could have been because it was my birthday and so they knew it from that, but even so I liked the relaxed friendly manner. I experienced the same on the phone when I initially rang to enquire about the Les Misersbles evening and then again when I booked it. Our room was clean and comfortable. Altogether a very good stay and we woukd certainly return.

We stayed at this hotel on the way back from Chester zoo, we were met by a lovely gentleman to check us into our room! We booked dinner and had a lovely 3 course meal that was gorgeous! Service was quick and staff were really polite! We had a few drinks in the bar and wasn't too expensive! We also booked breakfast for the morning and again was lovely, there was a lot of choice. The rooms were beautiful and really clean! Would definitely stay here again!!

"Spoilt by obnoxious Jack of all trades."

05/05/2018

Booked this hotel to attend a wedding, booked separately so nothing to suggest I was with wedding. On the positive side the wedding ran very smoothly, wedding and breakfast in same room congratulations on a quick turnround obviously a well rehearsed team well done. The meal was serviced quickly and efficiently with the food being well presented and hot. I had Chicken Pate, Roast Beef and sticky toffee pudding excellent . The buffet in the evening also excellent. Finally breakfast following morning, I saw the hotplates and my heart sank , but no the food was hot and plentiful. During a break in proceedings my wife and I checked in no problem apart from some confusion over breakfast cost, website ( Hotels.com ) implied £7.95 actually £10.00 but this was quickly and politely resolved. Arrived at room, strange choice of decor but from experience know it has being like that a long time, however clean. Three Negatives on room Bedside lamp with no apparent method of turning on and off, heating not on so cold first thing, and yes water left in the kettle. When will housekeepers learn this is a serious health hazard. The Negative. Only one the barman, master of ceremonies, and I assume duty manager, an obnoxious little man who announced himself as Nicholas. My first encounter of him was when purchasing a pint of Stella Lager, it was unfortunately flat, unnucleated, headless and poor tasting, I took it back and asked for something else, his immediate response was not to offer an apology but to state no one had complained before. I pointed out that with over seventeen years in the trade I knew a decent pint when I saw one and that was not a decent pint. I also stated I was not prepared to argue the point. He replied that neither was he before continuing to argue. Eventually replaced with pint of Carling again flat and lifeless. During the rest of the day, I noted several drinks being returned with a gentleman sat at our table returning a drink that contained detergent on the glass. Nicholas was also observed being rude to other staff and guest not a good advert for Pennine Manor or anywhere else. One inal point on drinks staff where observed using incorrect pouring techniques and obviously require training on this. Must brewers run cellar management courses a good one being Molson Coors a on line course covering six modules with a certificate on completion of module. In conclusion overall a excellent event marred by one man.

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear JohnKarenR Thank you so much for spending the time to tell us about your experience, I am delighted that you enjoyed the wedding and to food both during the wedding and for breakfast. I am so sorry you have a couple of issues with your room, if we had been made aware we could have easier resolved them for you. The member of staff you refer to is currently off and isn't expected back for a little while so I have been unable to speak to him. However, there will be a conversation on his return. With regard to the quality of the beers and staff training this will be reviewed with immediate effect, however, I feel I must point out that we have never had negative feedback for our drinks in the 5 years we have owned the Hotel.

Lovely welcome from the guy on reception. He could not have been more helpful...not only did he help us with entry to our room; log in to wi-fi on our tablets and phones but he also came to my rescue by providing a toothbrush when I discovered I had forgotten my own. Bar and restaurant were great, waiting staff were brilliant and food was good. Beds were very comfy with lovely pillows. Slept like a log, despite a function going on in the lounge. Would definitely recommend ??

29/03/2018

This 3 star hotel has a quiet, elevated location in the Pennines above Huddersfield. Our room was well appointed and comfortable. The evening meal was excellent quality, as was the buffet breakfast. Although the hotel looks a little tired, it was clean and friendly. There was a wedding reception on that evening, but the hotel thoughtfully gave us a room remote from the reception room, so that we were not disturbed at all by the party! Overall this is excellent value for money.

We've just returned from a lovely stay at the Pennine Manor. It was refreshing to try somewhere new to stay. Our superior room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The hotel itself was very quiet, which made our stay a little more special. Staff were very attentive and could do anything to help! We enjoyed a meal in the Hill Top restaurant, food and drink was great, good portions too! Breakfast was delicious, plenty to choose from and full English served nice and hot, which was very tasty. The only thing we'd change if we could was the temperature of the heated towel rack in the bathroom. It made the bathroom extremely warm. Other than that we can't wait to be back and we'll definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you!

22/03/2018

Stayed for 2 nights. My summary: polite friendly staff. Clean. Comfy bed. Room on the small side and desk space is limited with no chair, only a pouf so no back support if you need to work. But I thought the price was fair for what you get. Food is good and reasonably priced but I think the kitchen tries to be overly fancy and it doesn't quite work for me and I didn't find the bar/ restaurant area a relaxing place to be - too formal and old fashioned. I scanned through the reviews and I have to agree about the windows. They are not sealed well so when it is windy, you will feel the drafts and hear the wind coming through the building - windows whistling and doors rattling. But If I need to stay in this area in the future, I would consider staying here again.

"Disappointing"

21/03/2018

Unfortunately this is a complaint regarding our stay. We stayed Thursday 15th and Friday 16th March, checking out on Saturday 17th March. The reason for our visit was to help our son move house. Having driven for nearly 5 hours from our home in Slough Berkshire, we checked into the hotel, went to our room no. 32 and left our belongings there to then travel to our sons house about 15 mins away. We arrived back to the hotel on Thursday evening around 11pm very tired and crashed straught away. Unfortunately we did not have a good nights sleep as we found the bed very very uncomfortable resulting in a very restless sleep deprived night. We spoke with reception on Friday morning and requested if the mattress could be changed explaining our issues. We were advised that it would be easier to change rooms. On Friday morning we went out about 10am arriving back around 11.30pm. Again extremely tired. Fortunately the exchange to room 31 was just opposite room 32. We moved our belongings and again crashed straight away. When we woke after a more rested nights sleep Saturday morning (which was much appreciated after the previous nights sleep), we noticed the room wasn't as nice as the previous room. It was quite tired looking. A table lamp was missing from the window side of the bed. The dressing table had cup ring marks. The bath looked grubby as if someone with dirty feet had stood in the bath. There was dust in places. The duvet cover didn't have any fastenings at the bottom. But the thing that was most noticeable was the radiator did not work. We hadn't noticed that the rad wasn't on when we returned the night before as we retired straight away. We woke around 9am Saturday morning. My husband turned the rad on. It made a lot of gurgling noises but did not heat up. The rad in the bathroom did not work either. So Saturday morning we awoke to temperatures outside of -2 to -4 degrees and snow. It was extremely cold in our room and to take a shower was not a pleasant experience making it an Olympic event to dry and get dressed before hyperthermia set in! When we checked out, we mentioned to reception our issue about the heating and although apologies were given, we were very disappointed that we were not offered a small goodwill gesture for our experiences which spoilt our stay at the Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel. I look forward to your reply with interest. Kind regards Mr & Mrs Ola.

I traveled to this hotel with my family in the hope of an amazing meal and fantastic views. To my disappointment the inside was hideous compared to the gorgeous scenery outside. The wallpaper was peeling in places and the paint was peeling which gives off the “we can't be bothered “ vibe and we were also greeted by a very rude and pompous man at the bar who was very arrogant and seemed to have no knowledge of customer service! Once we had ordered our food we had forgotten about the decaying inside and the rude staff member as our food was more than amazing!! If I were to suggest anything for the outside of the hotel it is quite bare and would go to its full potential with more plants, less cigarettes butts everywhere and a better outside seating area

"Very good stay"

My wife and I stopped over for a Saturday night. My wife was very pleased with the room when she checked in- everything ready, clean and a good size. Room quiet at night and very warm. Next morning was very good and the service was good When we left we said that if every hotel was like this then there would never be any problem

Stayed at the Pennine Manor many times now and have never had reason to complain, the rooms are lovely, clean and cosy. Our evening meals have always been excellent and the breakfasts are the best. We arrived in the snow last Saturday afternoon with no heating on in our rooms the young lady on reception sorted that immediately, while we were treated to coffee our rooms were warming up nicely, sorry didn't get your name but well done! Two very happy couples.

Visited again with my partner for an overnight stay and chose the executive double. Room immaculate with quality toiletries and comfy bed. "Stunning views, good value for money hotel"

We have stayed two nights in the hotel. The staff is very good and there was nothing impossible for them. Good, generous breakfast with wide choice of food. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the service is perfect. The room is not very big and the bathroom needs updating but for the price we have paid I think is acceptable. The bed was comfortable and wifi working without problem. I think, to improve the room they should think about lightening in the room/bathroom as it is difficult for the ladies to put the make up on in the subdued light. Overall, we have enjoyed the stay and comfy sleep and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night, all staff polite and helpful, hotel is very clean with large comfortable beds, rooms are not large but have everything you need, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities and toiletries. We ate lunch and breakfast at this hotel, food was very good. We stayed in room 6 and the bathroom was very cold, turning the radiator up or down made no difference, the main problem was the draft from the window in fact there was a draft from most of the window in the hotel. The bar, restaurant and breakfast room seemed to be being manned by young lads who were very polite and worked very hard but serving a large amount of guests at breakfast was just too much for them not the fault of any of the young lads but the fault of the management who just left them to it, this should be addressed as soon as possible.

I was just looking for somewhere cheap to stay the night and this hotel did the job. The room was nice and there was a bath which I used. The water pressure is very good, just in case you wanted to know lol The girl on reception was very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant on site but I didn't go.

For a very reasonable price this hotel is excellent. Smallish but very adequate rooms, clean modern bathrooms. Good supply of teas and coffees and comfortable bed. Restaurant and bar with ordinary but well presented food at very reasonable prices.Staff were lovey. Couldn't do enough to make our stay the best possible. Met friendly regulars in the restaurant who just loved it. What's not to like.

Stayed for one night with a group. The room I had was small and a little dated in places but clean and adequate for somewhere to sleep. Hotel was quiet and sleep was not disturbed. Pennines Manor Hotel My wife & I stayed at this hotel recently. We used the on line check in, through Bookings.com & got a further 10% off with .Genius Staff were very friendly at check in. Room was a good size, warm spotlessly clean, to a high standard & on the ground floor. The double glazing worked very well, as this hotel is really high up in the Pennines, great views, room was facing the helipad. However, it's winter & the snow/sleet was horizontal with the wind, but never heard a thing. We also dined in the bar/restaurant, very cosy, nice log fire, reminded us of Austria, fantastic. The staff can't do enough for you, & the food is superb, great choice, piping hot professional presented. I can definitely recommend the belly pork, Mmmm A pleasure.

30/01/2018

Stayed for one night to break up the journey. Check in was efficient and friendly. Bedroom was of a good size and well appointed. Bathroom less so. It was clean but certainly was well past it's better days. Needs a refurbishment. Was going to have a few drinks and watch the football in the bar but when we entered we found the bar was in the restaurant and wasn't really the place to do this so bought a drink and watched game in room. Could do with a lounge area or something for people not eating. Hotel served its purpose and had a good nights sleep.

"December Wedding"

5
30/01/2018

We got married here in December 2017. Lucy the wedding planner was brilliant, she organised everything and made sure it all ran really smoothly and she was on hand to help out with anything . The food was fab and lots of our guests (many who stayed at the hotel for 2 nights) commented on the food, the location and how friendly and helpful the staff were. We had a trial for the food and I really didn't expect the same quality when cooking for 60 but it was. They really couldn't do enough for you and seem to be a really lovely team. Nick was great making cheese toasties for my daughters that weren't even on the menu and just generally looking after everyone. Richard the General Manager was really helpful also. We had a perfect day and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a wedding. Just wish we could do it all again!

"Weekend break"

22/01/2018

Fast check in. Friendly staff. The room was large and well equipped. The bed was comfy. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a blind in the bathroom. There was privacy glass but this is not enough. It was very quiet which was nice. The wifi worked fine in the main part of the hotel but not in the room. The evening meal in the restaurant was not good. Breakfast was excellent.

"Another enjoyable visit."

22/01/2018

We have just returned from another very enjoyable stay at the Pennine Manor. Our visits are usually bought as Christmas presents from our daughters and we always go for the Dine and Stay option. This is excellent value, a nice cosy bedroom, a lovely 3 course meal and breakfast in the morning. Access is good just being a short drive from one of the junctions on the M62. The hotel is situated high on the Huddersfield hills side with great views looking over the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. When we arrived there was snow on the ground but the hotel is always lovely and warm with a log fire in the bar area. The evening meal was excellent, the staff could not have been any friendlier with great service as well. The bedrooms are very nice, comfy bed, good TV and the bathroom was modern with a good shower. Big thanks to everyone at the Pennine Manor for another great stay.

Stayed here for just one night in December, it was a very snowy and cold day and very bleak at the hotel, so spectacularly bleak I will definitely stop again. I expected the hotel to be draughty and cold but it was completely the opposite, very cosy and pleasant. Clean and the breakfast was good. Fantastic views from here too

"Lovely food but dated decor"

3
17/01/2018

This is a nice hotel/restaurant that really is in the middle of nowhere! It seems a little dated inside, all the wood is very dark mahogany and there was very little natural light making it very gloomy. The staff looked after us well while we where there. The food was nice bit the salads were a bit of a let down, literally some lettuce and a bit of sauce.

"Comfortable room, friendly staff"

"Loud Music Overshadowed Everything Else"

4
28/12/2017

Going for a special dine and disco one can only say that despite the excellent food - all nine of us enjoyed it - we could not hear ourselves speak! Everyone complained but despite turning the music down after every complaint it soon crept up again. We decided that the DJ must have been deaf. (We certainly were!) Loud music is expected when dancing but NOT during a three course meal. Background music it wasn't. I spoke to the DJ earlier and he was a lovely chap but once the food started to come out of the kitchen no one could hear the servers. They were trying to shout, "Who's having the Beef, Chicken" etc. We ending up doing their job for them and were shouting to each other. Several diners went downstairs for a relief from this banging, banging of the bass line on every song. Such a shame as the room looked great, the staff were attentive, the food excellent (Although the wine was quite pricey) and everyone was dressed to enjoy themselves. Will we go again - probably not.

My husband and I enjoyed another stay at the Pennine Manor hotel on Christmas Eve. As with each time we stay at the hotel, we were treated so well and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. 06/12/2017

On the website, the hotel looks beautiful - completely the opposite! I was so disappointed when I arrived and my heart sank. The room was old and smelled, the furniture was awful, really old and needs replacing desperately. The cleanliness was not up to my standards.Such lack of hygiene! This time of year, it is expected parties will be in action - but Oh my Lord, the noise and the lack of respect from people. Staff are wonderful and lovely, no doubt there. I just feel its a bit of a lie, portraying the hotel as it looks on the website - it isn't anything of the sort. Cigarette butts outside the main entrance, the food was awful - literally. I ordered a glass of coke and took it up to my room, it was not until the morning, I looked at the glass and saw how filthy it was! I wanted to throw-up. I would NEVER stay here again and the hotel is in serious need of guttering and restoring. I would not recommend this at all - save your money and look around.

"Not great, but not bad! "

17/11/2017

Typical Best Western hotel - it's clean, tidy and functional, but a bit dated in places. The building itself is a bit dull. I booked the superior room and it was fine, but not a lot of space to get round the bed! Hotel is quite isolated and quiet. It's at the top of a hill so, if you're looking in the right direction, there's some decent views, but my room had a good view of the M62 about 1 mile away! All the staff I met were friendly, courteous and helpful. Breakfast was decent but bacon had obviously been cooked much earlier in the morning and kept hot, so was very dry and tough! I didn't log into the Wi-Fi as the terms as conditions of doing so gave the hotel permission to add my email to their marketing list! Not happening! All in all, I'd stay again if I was in the area, but wouldn't particularly look forward to it.

"Good enough business stop"

15/11/2017

Quite dreary from the outside, fag ends around front door don't give a good impression. The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food at dinner and breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, cooked fresh and piping hot. What lets this hotel down is the attention to basic detail staircase carpets un hoovered and stair treads badly marked with food debris, stairs looked as though they hadn't been hoovered or cleaned for quite a while. I was thinking what is the bedroom going to be like if public access isn't clean.Bedroom was fair enough size, bed clean and comfy. Heating ver warm but is adjustable, loads of hot water, shower powerful, bathroom cleanliness would not pass any scrutiny whatsoever, Bath was old and stained, tiles mouldy in places and horror of horrors “hairs on floor “ Overall okay for a business stop, the food was really very good and no issues with any of the staff. Not expensive however feel that housekeeping need a talking to! This would improve overall impression.

I've stayed here a couple of times now, both times travelling on my own for work. The hotel is just a few miles out of Huddersfield, but is situated in an amazing location with fantastic views over the Pennines. Rooms are really spacious, if just a little dated. They are however tremendous value for money. Bar serves decent evening meals and seems busy. Breakfast is definitely worth staying for. I'll be back again

08/11/2017

We stay at the Pennine Manor every three months for business, and we park ourselves in the bar area all night, we work extremely unsociably on our laptops, eat drink and then disappear... until the next quarter comes round....... the rooms are well kept, modern, clean and comfortable. The staff are ALWAYS polite, attentive and super helpful. Reece Sykes one of the bar managers here always goes above and beyond to ensure you do not want for anything .... couldn't recommend this hotel and its staff more highly....

05/11/2017

We've stayed here a couple of times. Pennine Manor is a small hotel, less than 40 rooms. It has a charm to it and is really cosy given it's exposed position on the moors overlooking the M62. Both the rooms we've stayed in have been relatively recently modernised to a high standard and are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and food and bar offerings have always been to a very good standard. This hotel serves the BEST hotel breakfast we've ever had anywhere. Will stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights while my husbands as in the area on business. This hotel has so much to recommend it. The location is stunning- the rear facing rooms make the most of the views which are fantastic both day and night. All the staff we came into contact with were polite, courteous and extremely helpful. We stayed in a superior room which was a decent size , the bed was very comfortable and the room was well- appointed. Free WiFi was very reliable. Breakfast offers more than just a full English- the eggs Benedict was delicious- and the restaurant food was also of a good quality. Overall a great place to stay - we are looking forward to going back.

I am sure the view without heavy rain and cloud would be great up here. The position is good for the area. The room is fine... huge bed Nice, warm, clean I had tuna salad as a main only. No problem, actually quite nice. I got the impression that they are trying hard on the food quality. So ... room good, food good, weather (out of their control...wild) Looking forward to breakfast.

Stayed for one night prior to going to a funeral we chose a pet friendly hotel as was stated and although it was a nice hotel l it wasn't very pet friendly because they were only allowed in the rooms and not in the bar, apparently due to allergies.... then in my book its not pet frienly. Shame that because we would have loved to sit and have a drink with our pouch . On the plus side the breakfast which we had delivered to the room next morning was on time, delicious and hot.

We really appreciate guest feedback as this makes us good at what we do and assists us greatly when looking at areas which may need improving. Please be advised, dogs are permitted in the bedrooms and in areas of the Hotel where guests are not eating, as is standard with like for like establishments that are dog friendly (with the exception of working dogs, for obvious reasons). We appreciate some guests may take offence to this, but out of respect for our other guests, and to appease all our residents, we do not allow dogs into areas where guests are eating, however, we do permit guests and their dogs to dine in the Bader Bar. Please rest assured the Manager has since spoken to the team and reminded them of the areas where dogs are permitted within the Hotel to avoid what you have reported reoccurring. We do hope you will not be deterred from returning in the future. Assuring you of our very best intentions.

"A brilliant stop over for the start of a birthday weekend!"

My boyfriend and I travelled to Huddersfield for his birthday on the Friday, as we were travelling up to watch Huddersfield town play Saturday morning. When I booked the room, I added into the comments that it was my boyfriends birthday and upon check in we were informed that they had upgraded us to a superior room, which was a lovely gesture. All throughout the hotel, from check in to check out, all the staff we encountered were so cheerful, lovely and helpful. We had dinner in the bar on Friday night and the food was really lovely. We had a fantastic time at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anybody. Thank you for such a great stay and for making the start of the weekend perfect!! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!! THANK YOU!!

I got into this hotel at 11pm and reception was deserted. I had to walk around and explore until I finally found who I guess was the night porter in the bar. "Are you able to check me in?" I asked. "Oh yes" he said with nary an apology as if guests having to seek him out was the most normal thing in the world. But beyond this surreal beginning the hotel was clean (if tired) and situated on a hill in Huddersfield it was quiet and with the most spectacular view.

The views across the Penines are impressive, even at night when you can see the town lights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great that a dog can stay too although a shame they are not allowed in the bar. There is a pub walkable though. A great stop off.

We had a two night stay which, although the Hotel is getting tired was enjoyable. It was spoilt on the last morning at breakfast when we were told that we couldn't have a pot of tea and instead would have to have stale tea out of a flask! I expressed my displeasure at this and a helpful Waiter finally brought us a pot of tea. The reason for this sorry state of affairs is, that they were too busy to make individual teas and coffees as they had a Conference to prepare for......go figure!

We are sorry to hear your breakfast was spoilt on the last morning. We stayed here for one night. The hotel is located in lovely surroundings over looking Huddersfield and Halifax, which look lovely on an evening. Our room was large with a queen size bed, which was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was a good size, and we had free WiFi. The service at reception was great, very friendly and helpful. The bar area is very comfortable and plenty of drinks choice. The only issue we had was that the main room radiator didn't get warm, so it did drop cool. Breakfast was good, although a little pricey We would stay here again.

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Twirlmuff Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are really pleased to hear that despite a couple of niggles with your radiator, for which we sincerely apologise, overall you enjoyed a comfortable stay with us and you definitely return in the future. We look forward to your next visit.

11/09/2017

Stayed for two nights for a family wedding. Had a couple of niggles about our room (8) lots of missing curtain hooks, so curtains didn't close very well & a plug socket that didn't work. However these little things did not spoil our enjoyment of our stay. All the staff were so friendly & happy to help with any request. Ate in the restaurant on our first night & everything was delicious - my personal favourite was the scotch egg starter - but everything was superb. Being a guest at the wedding the following day, to me everything was perfect & everyone seemed to work so hard to make sure we all had a good day. Finished our stay with the self service breakfast - lots of choice, all very tasty. Stunning views too, even with the rain we had most of the weekend All in all we had a great weekend & would definitely be happy to stay again here again.

"Tired corporate hotel"

10/09/2017

Very friendly and helpful staff, but operating within a tired corporate format. Standard rooms adequate, but bathrooms in need of modernisation . Communal areas Iook tired. Good choice of food for breakfast. Evening meal average with very limited vegetarian options. Look just down the road at The Scape House for wide range of modern tasty food.

19/08/2017

This was our second visit at this hotel. We stayed here for 1 night while driving through the area last year and we were very impressed by the hotel and the staff we booked a 5 night stay this time. The hotel is in a beautiful area outside Huddersfield, surrounded by countryside. Our room was on the 1st floor. The room was beautifully decorated in warm earthy colours and had everything you could wish for. The bed was very comfortable. The ensuing shower room looked like it had been recently refurbished. Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet and had everything we wanted. We had our evening meals most nights at the hotel, in the bar. The food was very nice (only complaint was the the triple cooked chips did not look or eat as if they were tripled cooked, just bog standard chips). This hotel is certainly a great base when visiting the area. For us, although we liked the hotel, the staff made our visit. They were professional yet friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

Stayed here Thursday for our Daughter's wedding. The hotel is clean and tidy throughout. Cannot understand the bad reviews that say it is dated?? It is traditional! The whole day was fantastic and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely. The room was very tastefully decorated and I almost got lost in the bed, it was huge! It's location is amazing for weddings. Cannot think of one negative thing to say, thank you Pennine Manor for making the perfect day for us all.

Visited this hotel recently. It was located perfectly for me, I must add although it is a little dated throughout the hotel. It was absolutely fine. Bedroom was good with an updated bathroom that was clean, and quite big. Bed was comfortable and room quite. What else can you ask for. Had a meal in the bar it was very good and reasonably priced with a decent choice. Breakfast was made to order, quick to arrive and like the evening meal good quality. Check in and out was quick. Next time I'm in the area if they have rooms available in will return.

20/07/2017

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I left together with a colleague a day early even though the last night was nonrefundable. Hotel is generally dirty and sticky, the smell of grease upon entering the bar is unbelievable. Hot food not served after 8:30. Couldn't buy drinks with cash after 10:30! “not that you would want to” Sandwiches purchased at the bar were non edible. Two sandwiches, a pint and a coke £24! We left them and drove for miles for some food, finally eating 2 hours after arriving. The beds were fine and sheets clean as was the bathroom however other than that there are no positives. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.

"Pet friendly and welcoming staff!"

10/07/2017

I stayed here with my partner and pet beagle! It was our first stay in a pet friendly hotel, everything went so smooth and we enjoyed some amazing steak at dinner also. The selection at breakfast was great and the full English was a good shout! Location was superb, couldn't have been more peaceful and the views are to be taken full advantage of. Walks for the dog were easily accessible and luckily we had nice weather. The only issue we came across was the access to take the dog out as you have to walk back through all the doors in the corridor, it would be nice to have the exit near the rooms accessible to nip the pooch out but other than that, would definitely return to this great and welcoming place!

"Wine and dine overnight stay"

4
08/07/2017

The hotel is in a beautiful, tranquil location with stunning views, although the hotel grounds themselves are not particularly attractive. I can imagine that in winter this hotel is warm, cosy and inviting with it's decor quite dark and suited to the winter months. The whole of the hotel, including our room was spotlessly clean but the dark decor made it feel just a little dingy. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in but the shower in our bathroom was a disappointment. It was basically an attachment on the taps and difficult to regulate the temperature or stop it from spraying all over the bathroom. However, I have noticed in the photographs that some rooms have a proper showers fitted. The food was excellent at dinner and we had a choice of any three courses from the menu. The young waiter who served us both at our evening meal and breakfast was friendly, smart, helpful and very efficient. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. The breakfast was nice overall and there was a fantastic choice but some of the ingredients in the full English tasted poor in quality. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

04/07/2017

We had two nights at the hotel, it was clean and tidy, the bedrooms on the ground were well laid out easy and to reach and the huge bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent on both days. The friendly team, were very accommodating despite our arriving after 20:00 on a very busy Friday were able to provide a substantial snack for us without a long wait. The view, when the cloud allowed, was terrific. Water was provided in the room but no conditioner in the bathroom otherwise sound facilities, we thought it a good hotel

"Yorkshire night with overnights stay"

5
02/07/2017

We booked for the "Yorkshire Night " 5 course meal and decided to stay over. We had booked this as a surpirse for 2 friends celebrating their golden wedding. We were not dissappointed, the food was delicious, served hot and with just enough time between courses. The staff were friendly, attentive. The hotel was ok, the decor could do with a refurb. The room was cosy, small but the furniture was dated and badly marked, and not thoroughly cleaned. As I found an old piece of chewing gum in my bedside table. When I took it to reception, the response was "oh dear" The bathroom was small and again needs a refurb, the shower was hot but again dated. However we really enjoyed our stay, the breakfast was one of the best we've had, lots of choice, hot and fresh. The tea and toast was served at our table, not self service as is so often the case in hotels these days.the hotel is high on the moors, so very exposed, take a jacket for outside!! Not much to write home about the gardens... Don't exist really, just wild moorland. Flowers or shrubs would be a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again. Great value for money.

"Not quite there......but working on it"

3
28/06/2017

This review is both good and bad and the appropriate feedback was left with the hotel. I stayed for one night (on business) and my travel team booked the hotel based on the reviews. Lovely and easy to find and I couldn't quite believe the view from the heli pad when I stood there upon arrival. Check-in was very easy; Reece could not be more helpful. Wasn't offered any help carrying my bag upstairs though which would have been gratefully received. I had room 18 which overlooked the entrance to reception (see photo). The room was average but comfortable. No air conditioning (it was a very hot day) and the windowsills needed a little dusting though. The provision of a hairdryer with a blow-drying nozzle was a real advantage as most hotels just provide a basic hair dryer. After getting into the room I soon realised that I'd forgotten my phone chargers. I went back down to reception and asked if they had one I could borrow and again Reece was really attentive and found one for me. Excellent! I went down for dinner at 7.30pm in the lounge/bar and sat at table 3. Service was quick and the seabass delicious albeit only luke warm and not hot. But then I should have sent it back or at least told them, so that's my fault. Whilst I was waiting for my food I noticed that the radiator I sat next too had marks on it. On closer inspection it was tea or coffee that had splashed on the radiator that had not been cleaned. Also, whilst I was standing at the bar I noticed that the hand-rail had sauce on it, which had not been cleaned. I think this sauce has been there for some time as it was quite dry. Now, I don't normally sleep well when I'm away from home, but I wasn't quite expecting the sleepless night that I got. At 2.30am I was woken by what I could only call a very loud commotion. Outside my window (windows open due to temperature of about 21 degrees and no air-con) and you will remember that I overlook reception, mature couple had obviously returned from a night out. The male (I won't call him a gentleman as his behaviour was atrocious) was shouting loudly, using bad language, ringing the doorbell and it sounded like he was kicking in the door. This continued for about 10 minutes until the night porter arrived to let him in. The female (assumed his wife) was trying to calm him down and he was having none of it, with continued banging on the door, ringing the bell and shouting. When the night porter opened the door he was subjected to verbal abuse for a few minutes. Now when I arrived, I took a moment to read the information presented to me with my key card. You can clearly see what it says about the getting back into the hotel at night. If I can take the time to read this then so should others. That said, the hotel should verbally state this to guests and maybe install a card entry system for when the front door is locked. Being woken at this time is not the hotels fault, but maybe they could learn from this. By the way, a second couple arrived 10 minutes after the first and were let in with no fuss. Don't know why. So after my disruptive nights sleep I was looking forward to breakfast, until the waiter that approached me at my table stood close enough for me to smell his BO! He will remain anonymous but I did name him on the hotel feedback form. That said the omelette was wonderful.

"High on the Pennines"

27/06/2017

We stayed two nights at this hotel on a recent visit to Yorkshire. It is situated high on the Pennines near Huddersfield, easily accessible from the M62 and with 360 degree views for miles on a clear day. We enjoyed a lovely sunset at the end of a hot day but imagine it could be very bleak in winter! You would need transport to get into Huddersfield or Halifax, although there is a pub nearby, but not much else. The building is modern and comfortable and there is a very large free car park and a helipad. Our ground-floor room was comfortable with a nice clean bathroom, no fridge. Reception were helpful and supplied an ironing board on request. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was good and served quickly in a restaurant with a view. We did not have any other meals there.

Used this hotel about nine times as a base whilst completing a tour in UK. This hotel is generally nice and quiet and in a rural location, but with good access to the M62. The food was good and reasonably priced and coming from Sussex the bar prices were very good. The weather on our visit was great. Sun shine and only spoiled by the wind but the views all round the hotel ground are fab. A great find and we would like to go back at some point.

We booked this hotel from the positive reviews. On arrival there was no one at the desk but a sign requesting you to go to the bar. At the bar we were greeted with a surprised look and comment and had to follow the bar man back to reception. The receptionist was there at that point but the bar man saw a couple who were having a party that night, turned his back on us and started talking about how far he had got with their arrangements, showing them photos etc. I felt this was not a polite or welcoming start. We checked in and were told where the room was - right next ro the function room for the party of 65 guests - we only knew this from our check in minutes earlier - no mention from the receptionist. We went straight back and requested another room as we were not willing to be kept up with the noise as we had travelled up from Devon and were returning early the next morning. We were initially told they were fully booked and this was not possible but when we politely mentioned that it was bad planning to put guests not attending the function next to the function room we were given another room well away from the party. The room was tiny and in desperate need of a refurb - the furniture was damaged, bedside lamp had seen better days, urine on the toilet, dirty taps and over flow, stained bath, damp to the walls around the windows - I could go on. The good things were lovely fluffy towels, good tea and coffee facilities and a powerful shower - the big surprise was a very comfy bed and pillows. We were just happy to have a quiet room especially when we returned later on to the very loud disco and party. We felt sorry for any guests that had to put up with the noise. We actually slept very well. The breakfast was adequate - no offer of toast as other guests had but very promt service. Check out was quick - different staff on who were polite and very pleasant - didn't bother complaining about the room as our change of room request had been honoured but if we had had to endure that noise we would have been extremely annoyed. It is such a shame as this hotel has amazing views but the initial impression is of a place that needs some re planning and tlc - the windows are tiny and every where is very darkly decorated making it feel quite oppressive. The strange choice of chintz netting doesn't help as the colour makes them look like they are nicotine stained.

The lady on reception and all the staff (including those in the bar and at breakfast) were really helpful and provided great service. The views from the hotel were fabulous. The room we had was lovely and very clean. The breakfast was good and catered for my gluten free wife. However could not check in at 2:00pm as planned (we were leaving at 2:15) because hotel had been full night before, there was a function on in the evening, which was noisy and our room was too near (hotel was full so no chance to move) and in the morning there was no hot water initially (the hotel had been having boiler problems for days and hadn't spotted it had gone again). But we would stay again good value and the staff made up for the slight niggles.

Have just had a impromptu stay due to the offer of £69 per couple for dinner, bed and breakfast. Checked in by Will on reception who was so lovely and helpful. 3 course a la carte menu, all course were delicious. The guys working the bar and table service were all polite and attentive. Breakfast was not self service for the cooked food as it has been on a weekend but meant it was fresh and hot. The room was clean and well presented. Not sure how you are making money on this deal but we've just had a great relaxing time. Thanks x

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was reasonable size and nicely decorated. Free tea and coffee (and shortbread) and a bottle of water in the room each day. Bed was comfortable and as I was at the end of the corridor it was nice and quite. Staff very friendly. Food was ok but nothing special. Bar was fine and drinks reasonably prices. Stayed here on a whim. Wanted to get away for the night somewhere nice but didn't want to spend a fortune. It's great little hotel. You feel like you're miles away from anywhere but actually Halifax and Huddersfield are only a short drive away. Our room was lovely, and with a modern bathroom. The bed was a small double but was actually really comfy. I slept so well. We are going to return and sample the food as the menu looked great.

We've been visitors to the hotel for a number of years now, not so frequent now but the warm reception we always get starts our stay off on the right foot! We cannot fault anything when we stay. From the cosy bar, wonderful food, nice accommodation and fabulous views. But it is the staff that make the stay so worth while. Polite, courteous and nothing, but nothing, is ever too much trouble. As long as the hotel and superb staff remain, we'll be returning!

We stayed for one night before a family funeral. The room was beautifully decorated and the all the furnishings matched. Stunning location with beautiful views from the car park. Our room was small in comparison to the rooms our other family members had, but as it was only for one night it was fine.

I visited for a one night stay for business The property is only 30 mins drive into the town centre during rush hour but the location feels rural and quiet if that's what you are looking for. The room was needing some refurbishment particularly the bathroom but it was comfortable and quiet. The bar serves a good selection of meals which seemed pretty good quality and ticked the box for a relaxing night away from home. The breakfast was good too! The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return.

Stayed at this hotel as the usual chain hotels closer to town were fully booked. It was a lovely change to be staying somewhere with plenty of character. Staff could not have been more friendly or attentive to my every need. The room was spotless with a lovely bed, and was very cosy. The view from the hotel is fantastic. The fully served breakfast was very tasty and so fresh compared to the buffet breakfasts I am used to. Finally, for the price (£60 B&B) this was outstanding value. Thank you, hope to be back soon !

26/10/2016

This was our second stay here, our first we left a little un decided, but on our return, 2 months later, we are in no doubt that we will be booking in again for next month! Ideal location for Huddersfield, just twenty minutes in the car, so perfect for wanting something out of town and peaceful but with an easy commute in for my business needs. I booked the stay and dine package for myself and my partner, and couldn't be more impressed, room, a 3 course meal for two and breakfast, the food in the restaurant is always top notch, so to find that we had the freedom of the menu...by this I mean we weren't given a food allowance or a set menu as some hotels do, impressed us very much! Always lots of choice, freshly cooked, and very well presented! The chocolate ice cream was the best I've ever tasted! We were served by a new waiter, Dominic, I believe his name to be, he was a breath of fresh air, not stuffy, didn't rush you, knew the menu, lovely lad. Along with new staff, I noted a few changes, tea, coffee and toast brought to you at breakfast, better than self serve...the breakfast was fresher and better cooked! The rooms had new miniatures, and over all the staff seemed happier and more up beat! But the one thing that really stood out, is the fact that they had a wedding function on, not once did we feel like we were second best, forgotten about, rushed, or in the way...in fact they couldn't do enough for us, checking we were ok with noise levels which were to a minimum, that we were served food on time, our guests who dined with us also left impressed. Excellent service from reception, bar, kitchen and even the very polite housekeeping! Hospitality at its best! Just one tiny thing....please can we have liqueur coffee on the menu, my perfect nightcap, as it is for many!

"Our Wedding Day"

19/10/2016

We had our wedding breakfast and evening reception at Pennine Manor on Saturday 15th October and we were so happy with how they looked after us and all our guests. They decorated the dining exactly how we asked and the food at both the wedding breakfast and evening hot buffet were excellent. It's no easy task preparing 80 odd piping hot 3 course meals to everyone at the same time, but the cooks pulled it off perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and the roast beef was cooked perfectly. Lauren, the wedding planner, was a joy to work with, Nicholas was super helpful and efficient on the day and the waiters and waitresses were so polite and courteous. All our guests liked the hotel rooms, and the breakfast the next morning was really tasty with plenty of choice. We couldn't have asked for more. Pennine Manor is a credit to the hotel industry. Thanks again, James and Rachel.

"Daughter's Wedding"

18/10/2016

The staff made this day very special with everything being run like clockwork. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Wedding Breakfast food was excellent as was the evening buffet. Breakfast next morning was also good. The only downside was that the bedrooms were very small. We stayed overnight for two nights. We were disappointed that the towels and toiletries were not replaced after the first night. The bathroom radiator did not work and the bedroom radiator was very noisy.

rsdeckers, Guest Relations Manager at BEST WESTERN Pennine Manor Hotel, responded to this review
Dear David S Thank you for posting a review following your recent stay at the Pennine Manor Hotel while celebrating your daughter's wedding. We are delighted to hear the Pennine Manor team made the day very special and everything ran like clockwork! In relation to toiletries and bath towels, for guests staying 2 nights ++, housekeeping place little signs in the bathrooms explaining that if after the first night you would like the towels replacing, then guests are asked to leave them in the bath and housekeeping will replace. This is to help us reduce the harm to the environment by laundering if unnecessary. If towels are not placed in the bath, unfortunately, the housekeepers will not replace these automatically. If you had made a member of the team aware, we would have arranged for fresh towels and additional toiletries to be brought to your room immediately. In relation to the radiators being noisy, please accept our sincere apologies. We would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention and this will be taken up with our maintenance team. We have passed all of your comments on to the team and we very much look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Assuring you of our best intentions.

12/10/2016

I've visited this hotel several times and the food has always been excellent! I would highly recommend this hotel for dining. The team are always warm and welcoming. My only criticism would be that on each occasion that I have visited the restaurant has been inexplicably quiet so it has lacked in atmosphere/ambience. My visits have usually been during peak Sunday lunch time, I just don't understand why this hotel doesn't appear to be more popular. Considering the great food and excellent value for money, this hotel should be heaving!! This place is worth visiting just for the views I can't comment on the rooms as I have only ever dined here but my mother in law stays a couple of times a year. She loves this place!:?'

"Overnight stay with friends"

10/10/2016

We booked this as an "eat & sleep" deal for a catch up with friends. The reception received was welcoming and very thorough in explaining access and dining times etc. to the rooms, bar and restaurant. The corridors and rooms are a little dark and not to my personal liking, but more importantly, everything was clean, if a little dated. At this point I should say that for the deal we were on, this is by no means a complaint. Unfortunately, one of our party (me) became ill (nothing to do with the Hotel!) and had to retire to the bedroom; so from now on I am writing the review based upon my wife and our friends experience. Upon hearing that only 3 people were dining, Nicholas (great Manager with excellent personal skills) offered to send for a doctor if required, or if anything could be taken to the room, to let him or reception know and showed the utmost concern. The 3-course evening meals were considered excellent with a wide range of choice (including a steak for no supplement). Full English Breakfast in the morning was fulsome and with good quality local ingredients. The toast and butter were also excellent!! The bed and pillows were very comfortable and, because of the location (with amazing views), a good nights sleep was guaranteed.

From arriving at the hotel the staff couldn't have been better, they are polite, courteous and very welcoming. I had problems working the shower so ended up having to have a bath - the water isn't very hot for taking a bath. Breakfast was served by a very well mannered young man- however the full English was greasy and the sausage was so hard you couldn't cut it. It looked like it had been cooked a number of times. So £9.00 for the breakfast is certainly not worth the money.

This morning we went for breakfast we where greeted by Nick who went beyond my expectations. "Great location and modern hotel"

03/10/2016

We arrived on Saturday afternoon for an overnight stay. The hotel is in a gorgeous position and well sign posted so easy to find. Plenty of car parking space and a helipad but the hotel itself seems to be built back to front! Check in was quick and easy and the hotel is lovely and modern but some areas are very dark. The room was small and compact but comfy and very clean but again very dark and overlooking the car park with a hedge infront of the window for privacy so no view. There was a good selection of refreshments in the room and it was nice to see bottles of water on offer as many hotels dont seem to offer them anymore! A small niggle but the bathroom was a little bit too small and one of the bedside lamps didnt work as it needed a bulb! We decided to stay and eat in the hotel in the evening but we couldnt eat in the restaurant as it was being taken up by a party which was a shame as we were looking forward to a romantic meal so ended up in the hotel bar instead. The table overlooked a row of what looked like stables used for storage which was a bit of shame. There was football on the tv next to the bar and the background music playing wasnt by the original artists?! Bit of a shame as we were looking forward to a nice quiet evening. The food however was very nice my partner enjoyed his sausage and mash but the chips were a let down! Not triple cooked and mainly burnt crispy bits. Meal was a little expensive for two small cups of coffee, one sausage and mash and one steak sandwich. We did have a good nights sleep the bed was very comfy but my partner said he was woken very early by a dripping noise which we think was the central heating coming on. Breakfast is in the restaurant and is a buffet style help yourself with a very good selection of cooked and continental items on offer. Tea and coffee orders are taken as you are seated along with toast. However the ham in the continental section looked very grey and not appealing but the pastries were nice! The views from the restaurant are beautiful its just a shame the outside area isnt landscaped with some seating areas and the old brick outbuilding remains demolished! A lovely stay with friendly helpful staff even the cleaners said good morning which was nice.

03/10/2016

We stayed here for a local birthday party and were well satisfied with our visit. The staff were great and very welcoming and helpful both in Reception and in the breakfast room on the Sunday morning. We did not find the problems that others have reported. The room overlooking the rear was very quiet and clean with all the usual accessories which for the price we were paying, we thought to be very good value. Excellent TV and very hot bath water if a little peaty in appearance! Nice towels and various shampoos etc.. The loo needed some attention to make it flush which was reported to reception. The downside was the size of the bedroom which meant many squeezes to get past each other. Beds comfortable and long enough. I think if a party arrived late for some reason, noise could be a problem as the walls seem quite thin. We didn't try the wifi as to log on meant providing many personal details which I am loathe to do and find an impertinence. The view from the hotel is exceptional on a clear day and though the hotel was full there was plenty of parking. Excellent value for money!

The sad thing is that I love LEEDS UNITED and have done for 40 years i took my family up there and thought that if I tried a bit harder with the hotel I might swing things my way, I am not saying that this ever was a 6 star hotel but we normally stay at a Lenny Henry one and there alright. The hotel is in a stunning position We arrived on a Friday night and the car park was more or less empty, the receptionist did the least possible to get us in and up we went to our room that was small, one of the bed side lights did not work nor did the WIFI really. The bathroom is also small but passable, Sat Breakfast was alright, We eat in the Hotel that night it was half full at best,[ the locals know its a poor choice and keep away] that night meal was steak and chips Chicken and chips and nuggets and chips , The Chips were proper bad but the other bits were ok , The drinks order was messed up but I overlooked that , The people on the next table also complained about the chips. If this place is a Restaurant and they struggle to make chips what can they do !! Sunday Breakfast was self service [thats fine by me/us] my son got himself a yogurt and then spat it out it was 2 days out of date and warm , I went and had a look they were all out of date and the ham was looking not the best they were both on the side not in cold storage, So I asked one of the staff about this and off he went and got some in date yogurt ,I was angry by now WHY put out of date food out?I asked to speak to a manager but none were available on a Sunday morning surely this is the time your weekend visitors go home and a manage should be available for any problems nope. I emailed them and had no joy from them ....If you got more money than you know what to do with and you fancy loosing a few pounds due to food related illness you will love it. I have travelled across Europe and UK ans always had a better stay than this. next time we will stay in a phone box and order a pizza

The Penine Manor Hotel suited us being at the foot of the Penines. The hotel and the staff were very good.My only critisism the hotel had a lovely restaurant but every body had to eat in the bar at night.Restaurant prices in the bar, food good but restricted choice of meats.

Dear 724wanderer Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent stay at the Pennine Manor Hotel. We really appreciate guest feedback as this makes us good at what we do and assists us greatly when looking at areas which may need improving. We are pleased to hear the location suited you and it is pleasing to note the service provided by the team throughout your stay was very good. We are however sorry to hear you were a little disappointed to eat in the bar area. We bar area is mainly used during the week as we feel that it has more of a homely feel and we feel the bar has a lovely atmosphere when it comes to dining, and the service is the same as well as the menu as it would be in the restaurant. We have passed all of your comments on to the Manager and the Pennine Manor team regarding your dining experience, and we do hope you will return in the future. Assuring you of our best intentions

I regularly stay away for work and pleasure - my visit to Pennine Manor was business. The hotel was easy to find, courtesy of good signage locally (and a postcode my TomTom seemed to approve of!). There was also plenty of parking, which is a nice find after a lengthy journey. Having arrived late, I was promptly dealt with on check in by a friendly receptionist. I did have a larger suitcase and unfortunately there's no lift in the hotel, but I was asked if I needed any help with carrying my luggage. The room was a little small, but recently decorated and comfortable. I was quite surprised to find the radiators were on full, on a very mild evening! Having swiftly located the thermostat and opened windows, I checked out the bathroom - small and a little basic but perfectly clean. The shower is operated by two separate taps rather than a mixer, which were quite tricky to blend to a decent temperature. In the morning, I headed down for breakfast - it was very quiet at 7.30 with only two other occupied tables. Cold items were available, with hot food to order - just one for my business trip readers to note; allow a little extra time for your food to be cooked to order. I opted for eggs benedict, which was very tasty. Overall, I wouldn't say I was overwhelmed by PM but it's a lovely, friendly hotel with a homely feel.

Superb location with stunning views, a great team of staff and a chef who wows without being pretentious, cosy fire in the bar, pristinely clean and comfortable rooms in fact the whole place is spotless, I just can't fault it at all and there are some fantastic deals to be had especially during weekends.

Stayed one night whilst in Yorkshire for a family visit. We stayed before some years ago. The hotel does not seem to have changed much. The setting is good with nice views over the moors. We had an evening meal and a few drinks in the bar, the restaurant was not open. The Chef is good turning out a good standard of food. The front of house was run by Reese the barman. He is an excellent member of staff and great with customers. The rooms are nice, beds comfortable and the shower was good. I personally found the dark colour scheme a bit depressing but it is just a matter of personal taste. We had a ground floor room overlooking the car park. There were heavy nets and bushes outside I guess to improve privacy although this is achieved by reducing natural light. We enjoyed the breakfast which we found up to standard for this type of hotel. However I must report that the errant toaster is still in place and giving guests a hard time. Note replace the toaster it is appearing in too many reviews. Like others I don't like their policy of taking £30 on my credit card. I have made a note to check that this has not been taken in addition to my bill. I would go back but the credit card policy would make me look at alternatives.

We are pleased to hear that overall you had an enjoyable experience. With regard to the issues you say you experienced with the toaster at breakfast we are pleased to advise this issue has now been resolved and toast is now served to guests so they can avoid the toaster experience! In relation to the monies that was put against your credit card. This is taken as a pre-authorisation to allow guests to charge for extra's such as food & drink back to their room. Guests can decline this option and pay as they go, however, most do find I more convenient to charge to their room.

Our 7 year old daughter suggested Pennine for a meal out as we are getting married here in October. The restaurant was closed so we ate in the bar. We were greeted by Reese (sorry if not spelt correctly) who served us our drinks before showing us to our table. Our daughter wanted pate to start so we asked is they had chicken liver instead of the mackerel pate on offer. Reese checked and try did had the alternative for her. The tomato and basil soup was divine, thought we would try this as that is the starter we have chosen for our wedding. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her pate. We all had the Pennine burger for our mains which was excellent. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and Reese has appeared to make a lasting impression on our daughter. We are looking forward to returning in October for our wedding.

"Nice Hotel, Disappointing Check-in and Breakfast"

27/08/2016

When I booked into the hotel, I was requested a pre-authorisation fee of 164.00, the fee of the room 134.00 plus 30.00 extra. I was told by staff that they were purely checking I had the money in my account and that nothing would be taken till check out. However this was not the case, the money was removed from my account, yet I was still expected to pay 134.00 (cost of the room) on check out. I questioned staff about this, they apologised that it was not initially explained to me properly, but promised the money would be returned within 24hours. after 36hours the money was still not showing in my account, meaning that without me moving money between accounts, I would be left overdrawn. When I returned home I had to go to my bank to question this further, luckily they were able to put the money back into my account. However this was something I shouldn't have need to do, and something that should have been explained to me properly. I was also slightly disappointed with breakfast, both the food and service. We were stood around for sometime waiting to be seated and when we finally sat down, we were left to our own devices, unsure if it was buffet service, or whether food needed to be ordered. Staff did come and ask for our ordered, we asked for a coffee, tea, cheese omelette and eggs Benedict. we were brought the tea, but the coffee was forgotten, and we had to ask twice for the coffee. Which was finally brought to the table, then taken away by another waitress. When the food arrived the poached eggs on the eggs Benedict were under-cooked, and the food was slightly cold. We were not at all impressed with the breakfast, meaning we did not attend for breakfast on our second morning.

We stayed here for my sisters wedding and the one thing that really stood out for us were the staff. They were so incredibly friendly, nothing was too much too much trouble for them. The restaurant serves lovely, reasonably priced food and if you are a pudding fan like me I can strongly recommend the salted caramel chocolate pudding (OMG!!). We opted for the Breakfast, and it was wonderful!! A huge selection of foods and all very tasty. I wouldnt hesitate to use this hotel again and would personally like to thank and congratulate the staff for going above and beyond their jobs - what a refreshing experience

Nothing too much trouble. Unexpected guests were catered for in minutes! The venue is lovely, our service was in a delightful room with views of the moors behind the registrar's desk. Had lunch with a friend I chose the early bird lunch menu as there were quite a few interesting dishes to choose from. (Very reasonable at just £11) We were both more than happy with the service, presentation and quality of our meals. A lovely drive from Denshaw along the New Hey Road to an eatery in a lovely setting and although is part of a large hotel group definitely had a Yorkshire feel to it. Grand.

Great location and the rooms were lovely although there are no family rooms meaning you have to book 2 rooms if with children. Breakfast was a major let down with hardly anything out , broken toasters and empty juice jugs. If they offer a travel cot please bear in mind they will try charge you £10 when checking out which they don't mention at booking so take your own, needless to say I refused to pay after not being informed at booking!

We were here for a family wedding and were really pleased with the way the day went. The wedding itself was beautifully overseen by Lauren who did a wonderful job of organising things. The venue was delightful and the food at the function was excellent, even if my chocolate fondant was not gooey it tasted delicious. In the evening the DJ was good and got people up and dancing, however the bar service could have been better considering the number of guests. Our superior room was very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom, bedding and beds excellent quality and very comfortable. The experience at breakfast next day was a different matter. Toasters that take so long you give up, none of the buffet dishes being ready at the same time, only 1 pastry left at 9.00am with half an hour to go and rock hard inedible bread rolls. Very impersonal. One guest was charged for a travel cot despite it being the hotel that suggested putting it in the room (without mentioning cost) they did however get a refund when this was queried, but if you need one do check The one thing I would say is that the reception staff are wonderful and could not have been more helpful The whole experience would have been really very good but was marred by me feeling I had to apologise to friends and family for the disappointing breakfast.

"Sleep and dine review"

14/08/2016

We stayed at the Pennine manor with the sleep and dine offer on a Friday night in August and what a great offer . On arrival we were disappointed to be allocated a room without a view and after asking at reception we were immediately moved to an upstairs room with beautiful views overlooking the hills and with a horse family including babies in the field just outside the window . The room was well equipped with tea and coffee facilities , tv , hairdryer etc and nice decor , modern bathroom with a fantastic powerful shower . Dinner was booked at 6.30 and even though staff were getting ready for a wedding on the Saturday they couldn't do enough for us and we're all very friendly and the service was excellent . As for the food WOW! , we have done the sleep and dine at other hotels before but this place blew them away ,everyone of the three courses was fantastic and you get very generous portions , the buffet breakfast the following morning was the same lots to choose from and something for everyone , the only thing I would say is breakfast is only served until 9.30 and as other reviews have said this maybe too early for some people but for us it was fine . Can't wait to come back ..... Keep up the good work .

Stayed here for one night and the location is beautiful. Nice hotel, clean and well presented. Don't get room 10 though as it is in front of the cleaning store room and the cleaners didn't care about talking outside our room and their door to the stock cupboard kept clicking. When I complained, that we had been woken up, I wasn't offered any form of compensation and the apology I got from reception sounded quite insincere. Despite being a Sunday, breakfast ends at 9:30 and check out is 11! I think this earlier than other hotels of the same rating and a few people we were with thought it was too early. Apart from this, it is a lovely hotel but having a bedroom right outside the cleaning stockroom/desk let it down.

We stayed overnight whilst attending a show at a nearby location. This is a warm, homely + friendly hotel. The staff are exceptional, especially so the women on reception - nothing is too much trouble for them. Comfy beds, good quality linen and towels. Stayed here 29th & 30Th July 2016 for a visit to the Land Rover Centre - Huddersfield. The first thing you notice as you drive into the car park is the absolutely stunning location and all round views over the Yorkshire countryside. Checking in was a doddle. The twin room with ensuite bathroom was perfect for a few days get away, very clean, neat and tidy, and the power shower was superb, a minor factor for many, but as far as I'm concerned, the shower is as important as a comfortable bed, and they are very comfortable. The management and staff are very customer orientated, and went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect in every way. A great selection of good Ale, wines and spirits at the bar, and a varied & extensive restaurant menu and wine list, and the standard of food being served was excellent, of which we took full advantage of over the two days of our stay. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable trip, made that much more enjoyable by a great place to stay....... Thanks all.....

Located high on a hill just outside Huddersfield this hotel has spectacular views in all directions. Easy access from the M62. But also comfortable rooms with good en-suite bathrooms, though the decoration is probably a bit dated. Restaurant provides a good menu with a mix of standard and more unusual dishes. Breakfast is the normal buffet but other dishes can be requested. We were visiting family and will probably do likewise on future trips. But in winter weather the steep hill up to the hotel (from any direction) could be a problem.

We stayed with my parents last night on the sleep and dine deal which is an unbelievable £69 per couple. Arrived for drinks approx 3pm and was welcomed at reception and the bar area by the lovely friendly staff. We spent the afternoon in the bar which was cosy and comfortable and had drinks before returning to the room to get changed for dinner. At 6.30 we returned to the bar area for pre-dinner drinks while we checked out the un- restricted menu and decided what to have for evening meal. We sat down to eat at approx 7.30 for a wonderful 3 course meal which was as good as any top class restaurant and very well presented, my husband opted for the fillet steak and I the sea bass and both were delicious. Breakfast was cooked to the same perfection as the evening meal with nothing being too much trouble. I can honestly say that every member of staff we met, spoke to or that served us were so warm and friendly and they really made our day special. Apart from the fantastic deal the staff really make this hotel special and that was said by everyone staying at the hotel that we spoke to in the evening and at breakfast. A big well done to Pennine Manor and your lovely staff we will be back again very soon :-)

Having arrived at reception as planned I was made aware that there was a problem with my reservation caused by the 'system' however, receptionist Natasha soon had it sorted and I was allocated my room which was comfortable and well appointed. Later that evening I had some refreshments in the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail shown by the staff not just to myself but other diners as well. A comfortable night's sleep was followed by a hearty breakfast and yet again was impressed by the customer service provided by the staff. At check out, I let it be known how delighted I was with my stay and would certainly recommend the Pennine Manor Hotel, Huddersfield to any one wishing to have a relaxing stay in the company of staff that make you feel as if they are there for you and you only, seeing is indeed believing!

We stayed in July just for just one night. We were going to a friends 50th on a Saturday night. The room was nicely decorated and comfy, we ate in the bar for lunch which was just soup and sandwiches again nice but quite expensive. There was a wedding on at the hotel so it was quite noisy. The view from the top of the hill were the hotel was situated was absolutely gorgeous.we would stay again.

Just had a week end away with friends at the Pennine Manor Hotel. Couldn't fault hotel, staff, service, rooms and food all excellent! Set on tops over Slaithwaite with great views but handy for all local tourist attractions. We went into Huddersfield by train from Slaithwaite station, 7 minutes away by car, as it was easy parking at station than in Huddersfield.

As usual, my experience at the Pennine Manor was very pleasing. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. I will stay again for sure. Whether for business or pleasure this hotel is ideal. I have stayed at the hotel several times and have never had a problem, always felt satisfied and am never out of pocket. A very good experience overall.

As many others have commented the views 3 sides of the hotel are stunning. A very imposing looking building, tastefully decorated. My room was very comfortable, all a single traveller needed. Glad the curtains were thick. Query as to why the ensuite window has no blind? Staff on reception were very good, staff in bar/restaurant very efficient and helpful. The salted caramel chocolate tart is fab! Breakfast was a tad disappointing, buffets mean that if you time it wrong things are a little tepid and dried up. Decent selection of stuff. We'll worth another visit

Great views, cosy hotel. Comfy beds. I loved the bathroom with the big sink. Shower old but great as it belted out the water for a great shower in the morning. Breakfast was generous and freshly cooked with good sausages and eggs. Toast cereal fruit salad and juices available and a continental breakfast. The staff on reception and in the breakfast room were genuinely friendly and helpful. They were efficient and really helped to create a good atmosphere. I had forgotten we had been to a weeding reception there years ago and I liked it back then too. One thing is a painting in our room which to me... Looked like an owl riding a pheasant apparently my husband thinks I'm on LSD however if you stay you will see what I mean. ??

"A helipad and the best onion rings"

08/07/2016

The Hotel is close to the M62 J24 at Ainley Top. On arrival the hotel is surrounded on three sides by a large level car park where there is also a Helipad ideal for the Bell ranger. From the the Hotel there are superb views across the Pennies towards Halifax. My room was on the ground floor and individually furnished including a solid wooden desk separate chair and a small side table. There was a comprehensive hospitality tray various tea's. coffee, chocolate and a bottle of water. The curtains covered the multiple windows and were a good heavy material. The en suite had a double sized shower enclosure, a large mirror and a heated towel rail, although the basin was a bit small, the monogrammed towels were a nice touch. The bar restaurant needed a reservation mid week so was clearly busy, the staff were on the whole friendly, although my main main course arrived with a bit of a thump and no smile or comment. The food it's self was very good and enjoyable. The Breakfast room enjoyed views across the moors and was totally self service. The scrambled egg was of particular note and had been made properly . It's the first time I have stayed here and I will be returning, well done to all, a well presented and thoughtout Hotel

Stayed here as a Pitstone for shopping g in Leeds and meadowhall in Sheffield. It has lovely views and area just 30 mins to Leeds town centre, the rooms were very nice and bed comfy. We ate in the restaurant . The soup was gorgeous and the main course just ok.. the steak tasted like cow pat smell for some reason.. really strong. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

"Daughters wedding venue"

My husband and I arrived at the Pennine Manor Hotel yesterday to attend our daughters wedding from the moment we were introduced to Mandy who was looking after the arrangements we were confident the day was going to go well. We cannot praise her professionalism enough she gave 110% to make sure every detail was attended to from smuggling the wedding dress in making sure no one was able to see it right down to helping my grandson with his tie! her skills were endless. Throughout the ceremony , the wedding meal and the evening celebration Mandy was there with other staff members making sure the guests were looked after, her enthusiasm never wavered. Exceptional service from Mandy and staff, high standard of food what more could anyone want, a lot of positive feedback from all the guest we certainly will be recommending this venue to family and friends. Thank you to all involved.

Later that evening we were met in the bar by Nick, maybe Bar Manager. A very warm welcome, we were totally impressed with the service and the atmosphere , he advised us about the meal choices, recommended wine to accompany our meal , and was very attentive throughout our evening . Breakfast the following morning was very good service, Reece was chatty and charming , the breakfast room was busy but he made time to chat, great breakfast choices, great views good value for money

"No food service at 3.45pm on a Sunday!!"

26/06/2016

Not been here for a while but thought we would try the Sunday lunch, arrived at 3.50pm to be told no more food would be served until 7.00pm. Fair enough didn't check the website prior to calling. Thought it was a bit strange so checked the website and you can book a Sunday lunch upto 4.45pm. I now understand why this place keeps changing ownership but obviously has the same staff providing a poor service! Won't rush back probably no service for food available!

"Great staff, shame about the noise"

23/06/2016

I stayed here for 1 night on business with my daughter who was tagging along to learn the ropes. We have room 09 which is a twin room. On arrival, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was swift and efficient and very soon we were heading off to our room. On entering the room, it was noticeably smaller than I'm used to - I normally stay at Travelodge or Premier Inn, but the facilities seemed OK - kettle, plenty of tea and coffee, hairdryer etc. The views are great from this hotel which is high up on a hill overlooking the countryside. Breakfast was great. I'm lactose and gluten intolerant which makes eating out difficult, but the member of staff in the restaurant was great and checked what I could and couldn't have to eat and soon I was tucking into a freshly made poached egg with bacon, beans and tomato. They even offered to do mushrooms fresh without the butter. Downsides: The bed creaked every time I moved which I believe was down to the waterproof mattress cover they put on the bed, so it took a while to drop off to sleep and woke me up every time I moved. Every person who came back from the bar seemed to want a full on conversation in the corridor before slamming their door and going to bed. The woman in the next room had a knock on her door at 6.30am and the chap then had a full on conversation with her at the top of their voices. There were motorbikes revving their engines at gone 11pm in the car park just outside our room. To be honest, I'm going back to Travelodge and Premier Inn in future where the sound proofing appears to be better.

"Great Week-End Break."

13/06/2016

We have just had a really good week-end here with friends. The staff were all excellent as were our rooms which we agreed were among the best we've had on our other breaks. The food was excellent as was the service by Nigel the bar manager and the 2 waiters who served us, nothing was too much trouble. It was a shame that the weather couldn't have been better for us as the hotel was covered in mist most of the time but I would definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

Stayed here as a stop over on way to Hull. What a nice hotel with fantastic views, plenty of parking space and even has a H for helicopter ?? Room was very spacious and bright with large flat screen TV and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits for the room. Spotlessly clean and large modern bathroom with great shower. Food was also very good, some nice meals to choose from and seemed very popular with locals and guests. Restaurant is located within the bar area which also has seating for after dinner drinks and large TV. Staff were so friendly and offered plenty of advice for our stay, they also allow dogs to stay in the ground floor rooms. Would definitely stay again

"Excellent Yorkshire mini break"

5
18/05/2016

My wife and I are Brentford FC supporters. Our team was playing their final match of the season at Huddersfield Town FC so we decided to combine the game with a mini break. The Pennine Manor had good reviews so we decided to stay there for 3 nights. We were not disappointed. We were allocated a ground floor room, which we found to be a little dark(nothing wrong with the room ) just the position of it in the hotel meant there was a lack of natural daylight. We asked to be moved and were told that hotel was full but we could move the following day. This was arranged and we were given a room on the first floor with a stunning view over the countryside. We spent the night in this room.We went out for the day and on our return we found the toilet flush was not working. The staff could not have been more helpful and they immediately moved us again to the Bridal suite for our final night at no extra charge The reception, waiting and bar staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very good, the rooms were clean and tidy and contained a mix of furniture very different from most hotels ( we loved it ).A couple of the waiting staff were Huddersfield Town fans and we really enjoyed chatting football with them. Our team had just won 5-1 and, on us identifying ourselves as Brentford fans, one of the staff , Max, jokingly said "right pack your bags and go " We all had a good laugh and a long discussion about the merits of our respective teams ( we were the only customers dining at that time ). I should like to single out Max for special mention as he was polite, humorous and a great credit to himself and to the hotel. A superb mini break and we will book the Pennine Manor again if we are able to make to trip for football next season. I would not hesitate also to recommend this hotel to supporters of other clubs who may be visiting Huddersfield for the football.

"A good nights sleep in a nice location"

11/05/2016

This hotel is tucked away but you can here the motorway in the distance if you have your window open. I had a great nights sleep from the start in a nice comfy bed. The staff were friendly & helpful, especially the young man in the restaurant at breakfast time. It was nice and quite throughout the night as it was in the morning, there did not seem to be lots of residents. The rooms are a bit on the dark side, but all OK with a 32" flat screen TV, coffee & tea with a couple of biscuits. Bed was king size, probably super king size. Breakfast was a nice buffet style & they cooked my two fresh fried eggs once I asked for them, help yourself to as much as you want. Helipad out the back, if you can afford such luxuries, you would not be staying here, so why is it there ? Would I stay again = Yes, without question.

Our bedroom was quite spacious, with the most comfy bed I have ever come across during my travels. All this combined with a very enjoyable evening meal in a relaxing atmosphere, made for a very pleasant stay.

Stayed here quite a while ago, but just thought I'd say how fab it was to stay here. My partner and I stayed here as we'd been filming late and didnt fancy travelling home when we were filming the next day early. So we booked in here, couldn't have been more than 60 pounds, and breakfast was included. Beautiful, quiet ground floor room with a bath tub! I literally soaked in the bath as soon as we checked in at like 10pm at night! Fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow! Bed was comfy as anything! Had breakfast early in the morning around 8 maybe? It was the best breakfast I'd ever had, but it was nice and did the job. Plus it was included in our room cost so I wasn't that bothered. I got a good cup of tea and that's all I needed. Fabulous overall, I love this hotel and will stay again if I ever find myself in Huddersfield again.

This hotel met all my expectations. The location suited well for work and the surrounding view is lovely. Check in and check out was pleasant and easy, and the room was warm and clean. The restaurant and food, both dinner and buffet breakfast, was very good. This will now be my hotel of choice when working in the area.

Just returned from three night stay in this hotel. If you have to be in this area for a night then this would do for the price. The hotel is situated quite a distance from Huddersfield and not a pleasant drive due to the high level of traffic in this area.We booked a standard room but was upgraded to the next level after complaining about the size and darkness in the basic room. The new room was ok . Breakfast on the first morning was a buffet with the usual congealed mess in serving trays, tea and coffee was available from vacuum flasks and tasted as it sounds. On the second morning the systems had changed a menu was available the food was freshly prepared ,we enjoyed a very nice meal complete with tea in a pot which is available on request . Morning three back to the buffet system. If you use this hotel and do not mind asking for the basics then you will do ok personally I find this hard work.We did have a couple of other problems during our stay so when the receptionist asked if we enjoyed our stay we informed her of the shortcomings we experienced. We would not go back to this hotel but must add that the restaurant staff were very nice possibly let down by systems dictated by head office.

My husband and I got married at Pennine Manor on 2nd April 2016 and the whole day was fantastic. The staff (particularly Mandy) couldn't do enough to help. The work they put in to decorating the rooms, serving the guests and helping to make sure everything ran smoothly couldn't have been bettered. All of the guests commented on how lovely the location and hotel were and how delicious (and plentiful) the food was. Would like to say a massive thank you to Mandy and all of the staff, we couldn't have wished for a better team to help us with our special day! X

We stayed at Pennine Manor for one night on the occasion of a family party. Our room was very clean and comfortable and nicely fitted. We had a superior room although the bed was a regular double while some family members were in standard rooms with a king. We did have a large bathroom and room for two cots. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and food were very good and the staff made the family event run smoothly. I would certainly stay again and recommend the hotel.

Room nice and comfy but Sat Nav didn't locate the actual hotel. We had to phone for further directions once the Sat Nav trold us we had arrived - er no we hadn't. We had to get to the breakfast via a room set up for a wedding party which seemed a bit odd but breakfast was great

My wife and I had 2 nights here on11/3/16. We booked the DB&B rate in a superior room and felt this was excellent value. On the Friday night Nick explained that we could choose starter, main & dessert from the Al a carte menu and I must say the choice and quality of the food was fantastic. On the Saturday there was a wedding on so it was a little busy in the bar when we went down for Dinner but we were greeted by Nick who explained that the wedding guests would be moving into the the other room so once they moved out we sat down to dinner. Once again the food was excellent and I would also recommend the house champagne as it is very dry and tasteful. The room was very clean and tidy with a good selection of refreshments including 2 bottles of water. There was a slight problem with the bill (evening meal was on there when it was included in the rate) when I came to pay but this was quickly sorted while we went in for breakfast. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes I would, the staff are friendly the hotel very clean and the views on a clear day are fantastic.

Tired after driving all day, seemed to go round in circles getting off the motorway but the sat nav brought me safely to the hotel. Great welcome from reception and then given a wonderful renovated room. Comfortable bed. Spotless bathroom with large bath and powerful shower. Nice supply of towels (bath towel a little on the small side). One of the best refreshment trays I have seen - judge yourself by the photo. Enjoyed dinner on a Wednesday evening - the place seemed quiet so service was quick and easy. Buffet hot and cold breakfast very satisfactory. Only niggle was the demands made to access free wifi - far too much personal information requested. Silly really - when I see such a long list of requirements I'm sure I'm not the only one that makes the data up. Really enjoyable stay.

A nice "country" hotel, set upon a high landscape, with glorious views of Yorks, The hotel is easy to find, Now run by Best Western, and offers good value for money. The rooms are warm, if small, good toilet & bath room, coffee & tea facilities on offer, nice friendly bar with huge gas fire, in fact it was too warm, the bar offers snacks, Breakfast is 7.30 to 9.30. A buffet style good whole some food, with polite friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble for them, Reception check in & out was speedy. All in all a good stay, would use again.

My wife booked a table online Saturday at approx 2pm for us and my parents. Having not received a conf e mail she phoned at 5 30 and receptionist conformed the reservation for 7pm. We arrived punctually. The opening comment from the Maitre'D was that we weren't on the list. My wife explained the online booking and subsequent call. The man said well I don't understand what has happened but we are full and I can not give you a table in the restaurant until at least 7 30 so you will have to wait!!!!! No sense of apology for his employees mistake We then had to wait whilst another couple was served drinks before ordering oursWe sat in the bar with our drinks awaiting our table in the restaurant A waiter came over at 7 20 and said "you can push these tables together". Or I can do it so he pushed some tables together and evidently our somewhat grubby or at least sticky table in the bar in full blast of the fire appeared to have been set. "Let's go with it we are hungry" Cutlery was piled up at one end. Waiter said there are 2 steak knives in there for those having steak. We distributed our own cutlery. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT I went to the bar after the second course asked to settle and the Maitre D passed me a bill with food and drink on and I settled and disappointingly for me could not justify any level of a tip. He did not volunteer but I asked re our booking and he conceded that it was on the system but that they have @ email addresses and the receptionist had not passed it on. STILL NO APOLGY about us ending up on sticky tables in the bar pushed together As we were finishing our drinks a card stapled to some paper was passed to us by one of the waiters with no words of explanation so assuming it was a contact card or satisfaction survey I put it in my wallet. We are never coming back here. These people are idiots and what a shame when the food is so good. We were driving from the car park when the maitre D blocked our exit and upon winding down my window he told me that there is an outstanding bill. I explained that I had just paid the bill with him to which he said no the drinks are separate which I knew to be incorrect as I had observed some drinks on the chitty before settling just 10 minutes earlier. My wife had my wallet, she located the receipts and noted the item in question which was a bottle of rose that due to incompetence had not been coordinated with our bill. She also noted and told the lovely man that actually EVEN thIS bill was wrong as she had ordered a house rose at £13 not the item at £18 I am sorry to say that having sat through a Basil Fawlty performance in what should have been a treat for my parents, I lost my rag through the window. JC this has been S (pooh) service As I left my vehicle. I gave him 20 quid and insisted he returned with the correct change which he was about to do before taking Umbridge at my outburst. His retaliation was because of my language and a threat to call the police notwithstanding I offered an apology for my language which he would not accept in fact he told me that 1 I am barred 2) If I want my change I need to follow him inside I am pleased that the big man did not call the police because actually the boys in blue have far more important issues to be dealing with at 9 30 on a Saturday night versus a minor altercation in a restaurant with a good chef surrounded by imbeciles In summary We used your online system for a table in the restaurant Without a confirmed e mail we telephoned in advance to ensure all was good We arrived as strangers (non residents) We were told we had to wait for a table You took our order in the bar and by default you made us eat there. At least you put the tables together realising that it's not the paying customers responsibility FOOD WAS NICE - You can't keep all the bills for a single table together which is incompetent You chased us down the car park Your maitre D has issues We have been barred for use of word meaning pooh Happy Mother's Day

Went to the hotel with 20 friends to celebrate a friends birthday on the sleep and dine package , the hotel is fabulous, had a great night , the rooms are great and of a very high standard , the staff can't do enough for you and the food is superb, you just can't get better value for the price , if I had one negative it would be that if you are a smoker then I would say wrap up warm as the smoking facilities are none existent if they had a smoking shelter then my rating for this hotel would be 10/10

"Valentines Night Treat"

5
15/02/2016

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for valentines day. The hotel put on a package over the valentines weekend which included a 3 course meal - a nights stay and breakfast for £99. We opted to pay an extra £10 for the superior room and it was well worth it. The place itself is gorgeous! Surrounded by countryside & with stunning views especially on a crisp Winter morning like we had. The room was perfect, cosy & well decorated / very country like. With a lovely clean bathroom! They definitely added the small details when decorating which stood out. We also had bathrobes and slippers which just made it extra special. The staff were so nice, polite and talkative- we've stayed at many hotels before where staff have barely said hello, but here they couldn't do enough. Unfortunately as we were so tired & had brought snacks to our room we didn't have breakfast in the morning, instead we spent a couple more hours in bed - I must point out the headboard on the bed was stunning! & the bed was the comfiest we've stayed in. Overall I would definitely recommend The Pennine Manor to anyone coming this way - especially since its a 5/10 minute drive from the M62 Thanks for such a great time!

12/02/2016

We came to the Pennine Manor on one of the most recent Wedding Open evenings. We were late arriving as I had just got back from London but the staff were more than happy to show us around and talk through the wedding packages before leaving for the evening. We decided to stay for a meal after and am so glad we did. After a long day we both had a 3 course meal and both meals and each course was spot on. Whilst we didn't stay over, we were shown the rooms as part of the tour of the building for the wedding evening and the rooms were beautifully decorated and looked very comfy. Friendly staff and fantastic food, and certainly looks promising for a wedding booking from ourselves.

19/01/2016

We stayed here for two nights in December in the family suite. It was a comfortable room but not the largest i've stayed in. The radiator wasn't working so i went to the reception and they gave us an electric heater which didn't keep the room very warm throughout the stay. It would have been nice to have been offered a different room to stay in for the inconvenience and having a 16 month old child but this wasn't offered. The power shower however was amazing!! Must have been the highlight of our stay here. Brilliant water pressure and money well spent!! Overall a lovely hotel in a gorgeous location but because the radiator was broken i don't think we were given enough options by staff.

We have tried to contact you privately to investigate the matter further, but to date we have not received a reply, therefore our response is limited. We have high standards at the Pennine Manor Hotel and we want our guests to leave having had a good experience. We are as disappointed as you are about the situation with the radiator in your room. This was an isolated problem which was out of our control, however, we are pleased to hear you brought this to the attention of the reception team and you were handed an electrical heater to heat up your room. The team would always offer guests a room change if rooms were available, as we haven't heard back from you and are unable to ascertain which date you stayed at the Pennine Manor, we can only assume all other available rooms were occupied at the time. We are truly sorry this had an impact on your stay for which please accept our sincere apologies. We are however pleased to hear that despite the problem with the heating, overall you felt the Pennine Manor was a lovely Hotel situated in a gorgeous location. We do hope you will return in the near future. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times.

I arrived late on a Sunday, having received a call to confirm the visit as it was getting late and they wanted to check I was ok. My arrival was processed quickly and I was allocated a decent room which was easily accessed. It was very smart, immaculately clean and had a lovely bathroom. I enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant in the morning feeling rested after a decent sleep. This is a place to revisit.

We are regular visitors to the Pennine Manor Hotel, especially at Christmas, we have been with all the family every 26th December for a number of years. We visited again on Boxing Day 2015 all 16 of us ranging from a 1 year old to an 86 year old, so when I say they cater for all ages, they really do.... It's a fabulous venue, the setting, the food and the wonderful staff just what we needed after a hectic Christmas Day. We will be back in 2016 Thanks to Mandy and the staff for looking after us so well...

"Fab New Years Eve"

Thank you to Mandy and her staff for a great evening. From checking in to checking out I cant think of anything which could be faulted. Our room was tastefully decorated and lovely and clean, the bathroom was ideal and had a lovely deep bath and powerful shower. Some people have said the rooms are a bit small, and I have to say I tend to agree. However, as we were only there for one night it was perfectly adequate and met all our needs. The gala dinner started off with a complimentary glass of champagne served by three glamourous show girls. This was followed by the casino which was great fun as we were all provided with free chips and the prize at the end of the evening was a bottle of fizz for the person who accumulated the most chips. The food during the gala dinner was served hot and well presented on the plates, to say the chef and his team were catering for so many the food was delicious. Ive never seen a portion of cheese and biscuits so big, we thought it was for two of us to share, but no we had one each.! At midnight the balcony doors were open and we could stand outside and see the fireworks across the whole of Huddersfield and beyond. Throughout the night Mandy was checking that we had all we needed and even told us the bar would be closed for 10mins prior to midnight so that the bar staff could take a well deserved rest. The bucksfizz breakfast was superb with everything you needed, including cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon , scrambled eggs as well as a full English breakfast. There was plenty of tea, coffee and hot toast. I didn't catch the name of the lady who was in charge of serving breakfast, but she is a wonderful credit to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble for her, we were the last to leave following breakfast, and we weren't rushed and felt we could have stayed longer if we had wanted. When we checked out Mandy was on hand to check we had had a good stay and everything had been ok. It certainly was and I would defiantly recommend the Pennine Manor to friends and family, so much so I am trying to persuade my husband that we go for Valentine's Day. Overall a fantastic stay and a big thank you to all the staff at the Pennine Manor.

"A nice cosy hotel"

31/12/2015

This is a purpose built hotel and it works well. It seems to specialise in functions such as weddings. Food - dinner was good. Breakfast a decent English and Continental buffet. Eggs had gone rubbery and the black pudding could have been in a better state but overall nice, bacon and sausage good. Cleaning services very good. Rooms only adequate in size, a definite squeeze even before the need to fit the extra bed in. Reception welcoming. Really good views over the tops. very exposed in gale conditions which we were lucky enough to experience. Claims free wifi - would not open in our room because we were in a far corner room but did nearer reception.

Dear Danelaw44 Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We really appreciate guest feedback as this makes us good at what we do and assists us greatly in areas which may need improving. We are pleased to hear that overall you found the Pennine Manor a cosy hotel which offered clean and adequate accommodation, great service from the team and a decent English and continental breakfast for those staying over at the Hotel. We agree with you entirely that the Hotel is surrounded by some truly stunning views of the Countryside but unfortunately given that it is situated on the top of the Pennines, sometimes it can be exposed to the elements during bad weather. We are sorry to hear you were a little disappointed with a couple of items at breakfast and the wifi wouldn't open in your room, for which we sincerely apologise. We would always encourage guests to let a member of the team know at the time as this allows the team to rectify any problems immediately. We have passed all of your kind comments on to the team and we very much look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Assuring you of our very best intentions.

We were fortunate to stay in this hotel for two nights over Christmas, suffice to say, it was one of the best Christmases ever - all due to the staff at this superb hotel. The manager, Mandy couldn't do enough to help make your stay enjoyable ably assisted by her superb staff, they were all so friendly and helpful. The food throughout our stay was first class, even though they were catering for large numbers, the quality and presentation was excellent.. The rooms, though small, were comfortable and very clean. The hospitality tray was well stocked and replenished each day. All in all, a fantastic stay and I hope to visit again in the near future!

had a family meal here on Boxing Day then stayed for 2 nights in the hotel. The carvery was excellent but also an a la carte menu available fo those who didn't want that. Staff, although busy were helpful and attentive as usual and sounded as though they valued our custom. Breakfast staff were equally nice and helpful and the choice for breakfast couldn't be bettered.. From check in to check out I have nothing but praise for both food and staff., There was a free buffet in the bar on Sunday night.

There is only one word to describe this hotel AMAZING. We came to spend Christmas here and from check in to check out we felt like royalty. The staff are wonderful not a miserable face among them. The food is just fantastic and the service is just brilliant. Our room was quiet and oh so comfortable i was asleep before my head hit the soft pillows. i cannot recommend this hotel enough of you want to be pampered and made to feel special this is the place to go. i can only give 5 stars but i give them with the greatest of pleasure. Really disappointing Christmas meal. Turkey tasted like Bernard Matthews re constituted meat. Vegetables were like bullets, and I wouldn't know we're to start to describe the potatoes..Also there was not enough on the plate, I was still hungry. Service was very difficult for the young staff as they could not reach all parts of the table. Therefore relied on us to pass the plates etc. Can't review rooms as didn't stay over,

Would just like to thank all the staff who worked so hard to ensure my daughter's wedding went off brilliantly last weekend. The venue was superb. Special thanks to Zoe, Mandy and Nicholas who worked tirelessly and incredibly cheerfully for hours. Nicholas also sorted out an "off menu" meal for my young nephew on the Friday night when also dealing with another large party. That was much appreciated. Thanks again to all.

06/12/2015

The first time I've been to the pennine manor hotel after hearing so much about this place over many years. It really is an isolated spot that seems to add to the charm of the place, it's December and the weather was bleak outside but the hotel was cozy and warm so it didn't matter. We were attending a Christmas party and decided to stop I've the night too. The room was very nice, a little compact but it was cozy, comfortable, well presented and the bed was spot on. The food, drink and accommodation was very nice and we enjoyed our stay here. This hotel / venue / restaurant / bar has a great reputation and we would recommend this place

04/12/2015

Visited the Pennine Manor Hotel for our work's Christmas party and had a great time. Although it is a bit out of the way the hotel was lovely and the views were absolutely amazing. The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful, apart from a young man I encountered on my way to breakfast who was a bit rude. The room for our party was a bit small for the number of tables they squeezed in, but it was still a nice room. We ate from a Christmas menu which had a nice selection of seasonal dishes. The food was very tasty and good portions. The drinks were very well priced for a hotel, being a little more than you would pay in any pub. I stayed overnight sharing a twin room with a colleague. The room again was quite small but it was nicely decorated and felt cosy. My only issue with the room was that the central heating seemed to make a strange ringing sound which went on all night. Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel but due it being so far from anything, I doubt I would go again unless for a specific function.

Attended a private function in the restaurant.Although the hotel is quite distant from the town it is well signposted when you reach Outlane ,The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient and the food from the selective and pre ordered menu was nicely prepared and presented. The weather was terrible on the day so we were unable to enjoy the views I had read about but this is a good excuse to return at a later date.

The hotel is a little distance from Huddersfield but is in a spectacular spot with wonderful views from all sides. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. I work regularly in Huddersfield, and this is my hotel of choice. It's properly in the Pennines - the wind might keep you up in a storm, but the views on a good day are wonderful. The staff are earnest and really take pride in making you feel welcome and at home. The breakfast is great - they could do with stocking in some real yoghurt and coffee - but small gripes given the overall quality. The restaurant is surprisingly good - I've included images of eggs Benedict at breakfast on gluten free rolls and bruschetta on gluten free bread!

My husband and I got married at the hotel in October. We simply cannot fault any aspect of the day. Mandy and Michaela went over and above their duties in the run up to the day to ensure we were at ease and that our plans would play out perfectly. From the first-rate service, to the food, to the bedrooms and so much more, we wouldn't change a thing. Our advice to any couples considering wedding venues - do not overlook this gem sat up in the hills. I cannot thank the team enough - our wedding was even more perfect than I could ever have imagined.

This little hotel has everything you need, great location, amazing views, fantastic food and excellent service. The team are so helpful and accommodating. A group of us stayed again for the Sleep and Dine package, which is an absolute bargain by the way. It was our friends surprise 50th and the team did everything they could to accommodate all our requests. They had a wedding on the same night, but the team still managed to give us all the attention we needed and the food was amazing. Don't worry about choosing the sleep and dine package, just because it's not expensive it doesn't mean the food or service is any less quality. We loved our stay and this is the 3rd year we have visited this Hotel, and we will be visiting again soon. Before I sign off, big shout out to Mandy the Hotel manager, she's brilliant, so personable and sets a great example to her team. Thank you for an amazing weekend.

We decided at short notice to try Pennine Manors Dine and stay last Sunday evening, WOW! we were not disappointed on a Sunday evening it is £69 for Bed/ Breakfast and 3 course la carte evening meal. We arrived late afternoon and decided to have a few drinks in the comfortable bar area My husband had real ale which was £3.20 a pint and I had Prosecco which was served in the little bottles ( 2 Glasses ) for £6.95 which we both thought was really good value, so stayed and had a couple more. We then went to the lovely newly decorated room to get ready for the evening meal. The Bed was very comfortable, flat screen TV, hairdryer and tea, coffee, choc making facilities and with a lovely bathroom. The evening meal was lovely and of a high standard and large portions and we were very surprised to find there was no limitations on the menu while on the sleep & dine. The breakfast next day was great and all the hot items were hot and cooked again to a high standard with plenty of choice, and items replenished within minutes. The one thing that stood out about this hotel more than anything else was the lovely staff who were all really helpful and friendly and this really made us want to go back again soon. Thank you Pennine Manor for a lovely evening we will be back :-)

Attended pennine hotel at a family wedding, what a surprise after a very steep hill and a lovely drive through rural Huddersfield to be met with a lovely well decorated hotel with comfortable beds. Wedding meal was exceptional, better than some local restaurants and hotels I stay in with my work. Value for money was good, drinks very reasonable and service on the bar was fast and professional. Did spend a lot of time at the bar !!! Only downfall was that we were lost at breakfast with no direction. Left to fend for ourselves, but cooked food again was good.

Stayed a couple of nights whilst a friend was over from the US, the rooms are well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Did not eat at the hotel as was working unsociable hours. Most amazing view and a real treat to take a walk around the local area when the weather is nice.

Followed a personal recommendation from a local friend to go for a great Sunday Lunch at the Pennine, an up and coming hotel.now part of Best western. Me and my 3 guests thought the Food was good, service from staff was very good even though the restaurant was quiet. Attentiveness was still seen without been over powered by staff and service. Not rushed and the timings were ideal with a ten minute break between main course and desserts. Desserts were very good and tasty. Thanks to our Host Nick, and Daniel our server who was very good. Made our special lunch worth while,

We arrived after a long tiring journey to meet our friends in the bar, from our arrival to service with our evening meal we felt like we were the only ones staying at the hotel, service in afternoon when ordering Drinks and snacks was exceptional Nick pampered my wife and I, make sure we were warm as the main bar door was open, he explained that dinner would be served in the Bar due to numbers, but he would serve our evening meal in the restaurant if we preferred, but he sold the warm comfortable bar and the exceptional menu to my friends and I. Nick even came to wish us a good , enjoyable evening and to introduce our manager for the evening which I believe was Lee, again service good and warm welcome. A very good value for money for the sleep and dine, and good choice of food and wines.

My wife and I decided to re visit this love,y hotel for the sleep and dine, as always good value for money, hotel looks very nice after the best western input also the decoration and refurbishment of bedrooms since outlast visit, It was also nice to see a Menu change but pleases there was not a change in staff, we were both so pleased when we were locked after off nick once again a breath of fresh air, chatty and professional always makes conversation. Attentive , most of all nothing we wanted or asked for phased him, and the team. A big thanks until our re visit.

Even though I work at the hotel I must say I have never eaten in the restaurant on a Sunday as do work weekends, but Sunday 4th October I had the pleasure of attending a family members 85th birthday meal and I must say the food was absolutely gorgeous, we all chose to go for the 3 course Sunday lunch, and only 1 out of the 10 of us managed to empty our plates!! If you are hungry then this hotel is a must!! Inexpensive. Very fullfilling, and smiles all round from our birthday bunch!! Proud to be part of the pennine team,,

I was Maid of Honour at my best friend's wedding at Pennine Manor on Saturday 3rd October 2015. I stayed with my husband and daughter for two nights & the room was lovely, even though we had an extra bed put in our room for our daughter it was still spacious, it had everything needed & was extremely comfortable. The buffet style breakfast was plentiful and hot too, catering for everyone's tastes. The staff were amazing, so helpful, in particular Mandy who could not do enough for us & the rest of the wedding party - she put the Bride at ease with her calm "can do" attitude and she was so lovely, warm & friendly too.
