The Best Western Jorgensens Hotel, The Lichtenberg mansion has been chosen as the most beautiful building in the city of Horsens and has a wonderful nostalgia and atmosphere. The mansion was built in 1744 by one of the most successful and richest Danish tradesmen - Gerhard de Lichtenberg and it was built to be his private home. However, by the year of 1813 it had already become a Guesthouse Court and remains so today. Some of the leisure activities and attractions in the nearby area include golf, sailing, fishing, bowling, museums, theatre and shopping. True to its great history, the Best Western Jorgensens Hotel has been decorated in a classic yet very stylish manner. In the impressive Restaurant Lichtenberg you can enjoy a splendid meal while admiring the beautiful interior and stuccoes dating back to 1744. The menu offers an exquisite selection of both Danish and Continental foods prepared by our enthusiastic and excellent kitchen team. All rooms are equipped with marble bathrooms, hairdryer, trouser press, mini-bar, color television and phone. The rooms are furnished in a classic English style and light pastel shades. Some of our double rooms can accommodate up to four guests. The hotel offers 24-hour room service, elevator, common room, sun terrace and free parking. « Pretty good »

The facade is more impressive than the rooms, which are spartan and poorly lit. The breakfast buffet is very Danish and quite delicious. Make sure you allocate some time to enjoy it. Ask for a room off the main pedestrian street if you need quiet. No elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs.

« Good looking hotel with feeling of grandeur »

Lovely building oozing history. Located on a mostly pedestrian mall, which makes finding it with a sat nav a bit tricky. Suggest you check when booking about parking if you are driving. The hotel does have dedicated spots off site. Plenty of eating choices in the area although note that quite a few are closed on Mondays! Staff are lovely. Ear plugs were provided in our room, which overlooked a side alley where there was plenty of noise later on in the night.

« Antique building with good hotel service »

This is a hotel on the most central Place in this city. Old building and furniture in rooms has even that has history. We had a big room as a couple, nice. Excellent breakfast. In cellar good beer place. Many shops just outside the door.

    « A pleasant stay... »

the hotel is nicely located, friendly staff with a smile on their face. nice interiors in the common areas, standard breakfast spread but prepared carefully for the best breakfast experience. The room is spacious for a single room, standard shower and minibar in the room. The access to wifi internet is free but i would suggest increasing the strength of the signal. A very nice place to stay and would highly recommend the place.

« Stay away with family!! »

1/Very poor accessible; even with local man in our car we didn't reach the hotel; manager brought us with scooter trought the city at 00.30 at night 2/wrong key for the familyroom, we scared an older couple en we were upset too. 3/In the new familyroom of course no tirtd bed, we had to make it by ourself; question of feeling welkom 4/Of course the next morning this was all the first time

    « Very nice stay »

I've stayed in this hotel and was very pleased by nice old building. Very good staff was very attentive to me. I had a headache and girl at reception found pill for me. The hotel has a charm and furniture from last century. Good stay

    « Old charm »

This place looks two or three centuries old and has some charm (keep that in mind when you book). The staff is really nice and helpful. I have found the room size a bit small (or maybe over furnished). Especially when compared with the huge bathroom. I was expecting a better breakfast for a four stars hotel (natural orange juice is becoming rare these days). Some places could be better maintained (I took a beer from the minibar that had quite some dirt on it).

    « Interesting hotel »

Situated in the pedestrian street one should be aware of parking difficulties. However, this 250 year old hotel is worth the trouble. Very interesting quasi-baroque arichitecture. Well restored. Room large and pleasent, though not fantastic. Large and modern bathroom. Great breakfast.

    « Friendly short overnighting »

I stopped for a day only, short stop on a business trip. Small hotel in town center, with a bit dislocated parking lots. Rooms are very small, simple furnished and very hot. Bathroom is very small as well. This week was extremely hot in Denemark. Staff is friendly, WiFi was working well. I liked a bar on the street just in front of the hotel. Beer is very expensive as ewverywhere in Denemark. Breakfast is rich and tasty.

    « Really bad experience »

The only positive things about this hotel are the very central location and the nice building its into. The first room I got, was not even cleaned so I found a messy bed and other reliefs. The second room could not be smaller, one could not really move inside, and the 90cm Single bed was right next to the door, which is the next point. The hotel has really old room doors, which may have looked nice in old times, today they are squirky and not maintenanced, so the whole hotel hears if someone opens or close a door. The yard where the window faces in seems quiet, but... There are glass containers of the kitchen which are filled after midnight, there is a discotheque, which opens the doors from time to time, so everyone wakes up at 1 or 2am. The room was heated up, so that u need to sleep wirh an open window even in May. And at last the bathroom was so small, that shower and toilet are very near together and the whole room is under water after a short shower... Not to mention the furnitures were in not the best condition and the toilet looks dirty. This is never 4stars,I would recommend to prove any other options, if you go to Horsens.

« Nice hotel, unpleasant desk staff »

We had a weekend stay, and over all we were quite satisfied. The room was very cold on arrival, and there's a smell of mildew in much of the hotel, but everything is atmospheric. We parked our car in the hotel parking lot, which we were guided to by signs. None of these signs mentioned a price for the parking. We were given two parking tickets to put in the car during our stay, but the girl at the desk didn't inform us about any cost for these tickets. Upon check-out the same girl at the desk told us that we owed 45 DKR for parking. When we objected, she lectured us about the cost of parking in inner cities. We live in the center of Copenhagen :-) She also told us to move over to where she was standing for check-out instead of coming to us. If it hadn't been for this one apparently unmotivated desk girl, we could have left the hotel feeling happy with our stay. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole basket. Breakfast was nice with many home-made items. I don't think we will be coming back.

    « Eclectic and friendly »

I stayed here on three separate occasions over about twelve nights in August. The decor of the rooms varied immensely: one a bit faded, one ultra modern and one very ornate. All were clean and had all the amenities I require: tv, hairdryer, on suite bathroom, wifi. They did not have kettles which seems to be normal in Denmark, but I miss as a Brit. Instead there was a flask of hot water and tea bags available in the lobby. The staff were super friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast provided ample choice. The coffee was average. I didn't drink it after the first day. I found a couple of the rooms a bit noisy in the evening and around 8am in the morning. They open onto a courtyard and it seems tables are moved into and out of the courtyard for storage. This wouldn't be a problem except if you want to sleep in, or have the windows open. I would definitely return to this hotel

« Very nice, quiet and peaceful hotel. »

We stayed here as a "homebase" between all the amusement parks in Denmark. As it is only a short car ride to parks as Legoland and Givskud zoo. The hotel is a nice old hotel. Our room was well equipped with a TV, bathtub and shower. So our son could play in the bath when we arrived back ever night. The hotell have great parking for cars. As you can drive in front of the hotels and park in the street between opening hours of the shops. The breakfast was very good! Would recommend this hotel. And I will use it the next time I'm going to Denmark.

    « Love this hotel »

This is my second visit to this hotel and I have to say, it's my favourite hotel, and I travel a lot. The staff are friendly, rooms are fantastic for the money and breakfast is amazing. Really, I can't say enough good things about the hotel. I really appreciated the fact that although breakfast is served from 7am, it was available earlier as I had a 7:15 taxi, made life easier! Well done to the staff :)

« Nice old style hotel »

Me and my family stayed here for a couple of days. Very central, in a pedestrian zone, with outdoor cafees and several shop. We had a nice room with a view to this area. A small but cozy restaurant. This is an old style hotel, with a big staircase, great hight under the ceiling, and that is part of the charm.

    « Quite a surprise »

Well I must say, this was a really pleasant surprise! Commonly when I travel for business I end up in fairly standard hotels but this one I think is a little special. My room had a very modern feel to it, nicely styled, shower is great (always love underfloor heating, makes the whole thing better!). Breakfast is spot on (even to a fussy Englishman!) and service I felt was just right, not intrusive but available. If I was to change anything about the hotel itself I would suggest some double glazing to reduce noise, although actually not a huge concern to me and to improve the internal signs (couldn't find my room when I arrived!) other than that, no complaints. Nice hotel :)
