    « home sweet home »

This lovely hotel was our home for 60 days; perfect view, pool, walking distances to mcdonalds, dunkin donuts, ihop, starbucks + jamba juice, sushi, korean bbq n etc..The plaza is not a 5 star hotel, but from the front desk to the housekeeping staffs are the super friendly and very accommodating to our needs. Love the cleanliness of our room thanks to Mercy for making us feel at home and always checking in on us. Thank you Mercy and Staffs.

« Great experience during a long stay »

My family and I have been staying at the Best Western for two weeks now, and so far we've had a great experience. This location is near highways, which allows easy access. There's a handful of good eating location at a walking distance. Staff here is great, they're friendly and professional. Our housekeeper Amalia is wonderful. She's always helpful and taking care of our needs. She makes us feel at home during a time where we're under some stress with moving from the mainland to the island. Overall we're very satisfied with everyone and everything here.

    « Always a great stay »

This is our second time staying at this property. The first time we stayed was for 45 days straight three years prior due to a military move. This hotel does so much to welcome the military and their families to the island. They not only give you free parking for the TLA program, but also meal credits for the onsite restaurant. Our second stay was this one for 10 days as we are moving away from the island. Imagine our surprise when upon walking into the restaurant for dinner the first night, we were greeted by a hug from Techi, who remembered us from three years prior! The staff at the restaurant for our first visit was amazing and they continued to be for this stay as well. James, Michael, Techi, and Ramon in the restaurant all remembered our family from the three years prior and greeted us like we were long time friends. It blew us away that they remembered us! The food in the restaurant is great and well priced. The breakfast offers very large portions, as well as the dinner! The menu has changed a bit from what we remember but everything was delicious. I have worked in the hotel industry for several years and this is great food at a great price for Oahu standards. The rooms are nice and clean, and I believe they may have been updated since our last stay. Our housekeeper ( Zeniada?) was always sweet and cleaned our room with great attention to detail. We will always recommend this hotel to friends moving to the island. Everyone at the property greets you kindly and genuinely feels like they care about you. the property does have small issues, like the parking being tight and it being a bit noisy from the highway noise. But to us, it is still the best service you could find and that definitely outweighs the negatives to us. Mahalo Best Western for making the beginning and ending of our time in Oahu so easy!

« The Plaza, Extremely convenient »

The workers are very customer friendly, especially Beau and Raymant. Hey, they were able to put up with me and that's saying a lot. The Hotel is near all the military bases and the airport with easy access. The parking is a bit of a bite. But it worked for me. I would recommend it and would stay there again. Checking in and out was a breeze. This time I had the floor with all the party-ers but I could have gotten a less convenient floor. Considering all the traffic and guests, the staff just manage to do an amazing job. Again, Beau was super. Hopefully she will be on the desk when you check-in.

    « We liked it »

We stayed here 3 nights while we had a look around Honolulu before going to the west coast of the island. The shuttle service to/from the airport is good and the hotel is right next to a bus stop where you can catch buses to all the major sites. For $5.50 you get a 1 day pass. The room was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly. The only slight negative, which the hotel can't do anything about, was the road noise next to the pool area which was quite loud.

« Would definitely use again! »

We stayed here both on arrival and before departure from the airport during a recent visit. On arrival we used the courtesy phone (just a couple of carousels down the hall from our bag pick-up) following the clear instructions for the hotel. We were given clear directions (over the crossing, go left until green curb) to the bus, which was with us within minutes. It was driven by a friendly, helpful and informative young man. We were welcomed by a friendly receptionist, and our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a good night's sleep - followed by a leisurely, delicious breakfast. Hotel was very convenient for car rental pick-up. Equally pleased during outward journey. We arrived early, but our cases were taken from us, we sat by the pool, and our room was actually ready for us ahead of time. The evening meal was every bit as good as breakfast had been. There is, indeed, traffic noise, but it did not disturb our sleep at all. It was more intrusive whilst sat at the pool. Would definitely use this hotel again if visiting Hawaii in the future.

Just to thank Mercy for the excellent Housekeeping services. More of you would make the Best Western a great place to stay. Thank you for the awesome service and please keep up the good work. You are awesome!!!!

    « Well below average »

I only stayed here one night...and was glad that it wasn't more. The staff made a vague attempt at being friendly, but wasn't very convincing. As I struggled to pull my suitcase over the unevenly stone tiled floor, TWO staff members stood watching, and didn't even bother to ask if I needed help. The room was clean, but there is mould growing around the tap and border of the bath. Breakfast was more or less disastrous...don't be fooled by photos of beautifully displayed fruit. None of that...just a drab dining room with tired looking waiters. I ordered a coffee with hot milk, but received a bowl of pre packed 'milk' and about 10 minutes later a separate cup of Luke warm milk. The food was tasteless and so greasy (as in a layer of oil floating on the omelet). I get that this is a budget hotel...but even so, it really was quite grim. The only good thing I have to say is that their Wifi is free and acceptably fast.

    « Very comfortable room! »

Even though this is next to a freeway, the room we had was exceptionally comfortable and quiet. This was our last night in Hawaii, and Best Western provided us with a very nice night's stay. The shuttle was very prompt and we were able to easily make our flight. This is probably the best Best Western property we have stayed throughout our travels in the U.S.

    « Business Trip - good choice »

Was booked for 10 days; stayed 7 before returning home. Room a bit noisy as it faced the highway - ask for a room not facing highway. A/C ran a bit loud it seemed, but didn't spend a lot of time in the room - picked for price and location to where I was working. Nice store in lobby with drinks/snacks - very friendly. Laundromat on site - was expensive for convenient. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

« Best Western Plaza Review »

Good service, clean, comfortable, mediocre food, freeway noise. Good for an airport motel. Would probably stay again. You're going to lose reviews requiring 200 characters. I've told you what I think and don't have anything else to say!

« Perfect location for overnight before moving on to a resort »

Having arrived at 20:00 after a 24 hour journey, I didn't have the energy to rent a car and drive to our final destination. The Best Western Plaza Hotel is ideally situated close to the airport and with a shuttle bus to take to back and forth when needed. i only stayed one night, but the room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It wasn't particularly cheap at £206 (around $300), but August in Hawaii! What did I expect. I'll recommend the Plaza, but only as a stopover at the airport.

    « Best Housekeeper »

We stayed at the Best Western Plaza Hotel when my husband and I were in the process of getting our house in Hawaii. We stayed from March 16, 2018 - April 24, 2018 and our housekeeper Maria was such a ray of sunshine. She always made sure we had clean towels and always went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed! I will miss her smilingly face in the mornings, as she brightens anyone's day she comes in contact with and you can tell she enjoys what she does and is SO good at it! She definitely deserves a raise! Thank you best western staff for having us and a special thank you to Maria! I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family when they come to visit! Mahalo!

« Basic, no frills hotel »

This was a basic, no frills hotel but we only needed a one night stay so decided to save some money. Still was $169/night through Expedia. Clean room, standard size and it was surprisingly quiet. Our room looked to the back of a factory of some sort but it was a Friday night so no activity there. They have a pool, small but surprisingly pretty with bushes/trees all around instead of a tacky fence. The restaurant is open for breakfast early but is not open for dinner every night which was not advertised on their website. We got into the hotel at 7pm starving and found that out. They did have a pleasant Shuttle driver that took us over to their 'sister' hotel 5 min away. That meal wasn't very good at all with terrible service. This is an Industrial area around the airport so nothing else around except a McDonalds to go and eat at. It is the closest to the Pearl Harbor Memorial which is how we chose it. Small gift shop with overpriced food items (4.99 for a pkg of Goldfish crackers).

« Good Hotel, Friendly Staff, Nice Amenities »

I stayed in this hotel for 31 days while I waited for Military Housing. Overall, it was a decent place to stay. The driver of the shuttle van was quick to pick us up and very friendly. The front desk staff is very knowledgeable, and helped with correcting my reservation. (I booked using the government rate and not the TLA rate). And our housekeeping lady, Mercy, was super friendly and thorough. The wait staff at the restaurant were always cheerful and helpful. Here's our stream of conscience: - The king size bed was dangerously comfortable. More than one day disappeared because of a surprise nap. - Our TV was upgraded from a 36in to a 55in, which was super nice. - The refrigerator and microwave were standard sizes for a hotel. - The bathroom had one vanity and bathtub that was just a little too shallow for a nice relaxing bath. - The pool area was rarely crowded and had a decent size. Chairs and Tables and clean water. But quite a few ants... - Complementary WiFi allowed for four devices. Which for two technologically immersed people is about half as many as we needed. - The location was fairly convenient. Hickam is about an hour walk or 8 min drive, and the Pearl Harbor NEX was about the same. - The floor would get wet whenever it rained, which I found really weird. - Parking was free for guests, and the garage is floors two through five, with six through twelve for the rooms. - There were two elevators, and no choice to use the stairs. There was no service elevator, and the two elevators they did have were slow. Especially at rush hour. - There are four washing machines and four dryers on the first floor, but they are $3.25 per load, each. - There was a free gym on the twelfth floor. It's not real big, but there are some free weights and one bench, two treadmills, and some other things. - On Tues, Wed, and Thurs, the restaurant is closed, and guests are directed to Airport Honolulu Hotel's restaurant, which is honestly better. It's just a 10min walk... - The number of homeless people right outside the hotel is a little concerning.

    « Surprisingly good »

Not too far from the airport and a few miles away from Waikiki. Housekeeping did an extraordinary job with the rooms. Also, not that far away from JBPHH and the Arizona Memorial. Would gladly stay here again.

« Good stay in the hotel and helpful staff »

My wife and I stayed in the hotel, after long travel, we received good greeting from the front desk, she is very helpful and considerate, thanks, the facility is good and clean. Very near the airport, easy to return our car rental.

    « Better Than Expected »

Imagine my dismay, after my last experience, when I learned we'd been booked into this hotel to attend a work training. My room was in the main tower (as opposed to a room off the alley like last time). We were checked in by Beau at the front desk. Best Western couldn't ask for a better representative. My room during this stay was WAY better - clean and updated. Still a little noisy but tolerable (this is an airport hotel after all). I wouldn't recommend this property as a base for your Oahu vacation, but it's very convenient when you need a location close to the airport. This was a very positive experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. If I could give half stars, I'd rate this stay 3.5.

« Used to be great! »

I have stayed at this hotel at least 10 times, and each time, the hotel benefits get worse and worse. The staff is a hardy bunch of friendly people, but I have a feeling this is a case of management cutting the corners for a profit. Out of 4 nights, 3 times we needed the staff to change towels. We are not talking about a spots?some of these towels looked like they were used in a crime scene clean up. Parking prices are just like those in Waikiki, but this hotel is not near Waikiki. They used to have an outside company that provided a shuttle service to the NEX, and that was great because while I was at work, my wife could take in some shopping. Maybe the management should do something like that. If you are looking for a hotel with a friendly staff, and away from Waikiki traffic, this is a moderate hotel with normal Waikiki prices. They used to offer all you can eat crab on Fridays, bar, and dining everyday, but that too Iha's been cut back.

    2
« Too expensive - boring area, no breakfast »

Would recommend anyone to stay here when you can get something comparable in Waikiki or another neighborhood. If you're just there overnight and want to be close to the airport then it's ideal otherwise would not recommend.

    « convenient airport hotel »

A convenient place to stay (nothing fancy) if you have to stay overnight to change planes at Honolulu airport. Unfortunately I had to wait at least 20 minutes for the shuttle even though I used the special phone in the baggage area and was told it would only be five minutes. I had to go back and make another call and was told the shuttle driver was busy dropping people off and was on his way. Going back to the airport was quick and easy since they don't have other hotels they need to stop at. Most of the people I saw walking around the hotel were wearing military uniforms since it is near Pearl Harbor rather than close to other tourist sites. It is a very standard older hotel but my room was spacious and the bathroom was clean with a hot shower. The beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning worked great! I was wiped out from an overnight flight and was so grateful they had a clean room for me just after 10 am when the housekeeping staff showed up. Even though the black-out curtains were difficult to arrange and I had to use clothespins to keep them shut, I managed a nap. The planes weren't too bothersome and there wasn't a huge amount of street noise despite the nearness of the freeways. The location is very industrial so I can't say much for the view. My other complaint is the lack of free breakfast and the very limited restaurant hours. The fact that they didn't even serve dinner the night I was there was a problem for me because there are only a handful of small restaurants close by. My experience with the staff was positive?someone even brought me an extra blanket right away when I called the front desk late at night! There is a local bus route close by that goes to Waikiki Beach but I didn't take it since the weather was terrible. If you want to save money it is much cheaper than taking a taxi!

« Wolud have been quicker to walk. »

We'd booked into the Plaza Hotel as we were returning from Maui and were heading back to Australia the next day. Location and cost wise this seemed like a good choice. Our flight was landing at Waikiki airport at about 11.30am and I'd booked a tour for 1.30pm. We collected our baggage and rang the hotel to request the shuttle bus. We knew it should only take 10 minutes or so to arrive. Half hour later still no shuttle so we rang again. About 10-15 minutes later it arrived. The driver said he'd only received one request, the last one. We arrived at the hotel, asked for a taxi and left our bags to check after we'd returned from our tour. No apology until we checked in later. The hotel's quite nice and we liked our room. Could do better.

« Great room service.....mt room attendant was Kat and was a sweetheart. Very pleasant and nice. »

Very enjoyable and quiet. The rooms were nice and clean. The cleaning staff, Kat, was very sweet and pleasant to talk to. The restaurant had good food although a little pricey. The facility had laundry right on their property which was helpful as I am out here on business and I only brought so many pieces of clothing.

    « Kind staff »

It located near the city. All staffs are much supportive. It can be easily reachable by all type of transports. No problem stay again in the coming future too. It will be lovable for all age types. Nice decorated.

    « Great service! »

I stayed at the Best Western/ The Plaza Hotel. I had great service there. Thank you to my room attendant Mercy! She does a great job with cleaning the rooms and has a wonderful cheerful personality each and every day! I really enjoyed my stay there. Thank you!

« Not the best place, I have ever stayed and I have traveled for a living. »

Opened my window and could see the freeway about 20 feet away. I could hear the noise when I opened the door. Nice view lol. Hotel did move me to another room on the side of the building. Like most places I have stayed in Hawaii for business staff kinda treats you like you should be glad to be here. It was outside of downtown which for me was good because the traffic here is horrible. Parking was $30 per night, a lot of guest park on the street when possible. Fast food is the only nearby option. The hotel restaurant was decent. You might enjoy the pool if you can stand the noise from the freeway right next to you. Don't fall for pics, there's not much to view unless you in a high floor to not look at the surrounding warehouses and businesses.

    « incoming military »

We stayed at this hotel when we were coming in from Virginia, my husband was assigned to a ship in pearl harbor. Our stay at the hotel was about a month and a half. They helped out a lot with giving us meal vouchers to help with our expenses. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The house keeping lady who took care of was amazing, due to my family's crazy schedule she would let us sleep in and take care of our room later. Amalia always made us feel right at home. Also on Tuesday to Thursday we would go eat at the sister property down the road and they have a super friendly waiter named Tim. We enjoyed when we had on of his tables , he was always friendly and always on top of things. the downfall of this place was the parking. We had a mid sized SUV and they have very limited parking for a bigger sized car.

    3
« Ridden hard and put away wet »

This poor excuse of a hotel had one thing going for it - the location right beside the airport. but sadly, it is in dire need of an upgrade and a thorough cleaning. The rooms on the eighth floor seemed above all the noise of street level, until we woke in the morning and noticed cars racing right past our window on the adjacent freeway-hmm

    4
    « VERY CONVENIENT »

I have never been to Hawaii before and was there for medical reasons. I found it very easy to commute from this location to Tripler AMC when needed. The rooms were extremely clean and the beds made for a great night sleep. The cleaning staff didn't miss a beat and the staff in the lobby were quick to help. I did run into some trouble making my reservations via phone in regards to how I felt I was being spoken to but this was minor. Great place to stay.

« Noisy and poor customer service »

We only got a day rate as we fly out at 10pm that night. First thing I notice was the attitude the front desk lady showed the 2 US military personnel that checked in before us. The front desk person was very short and blunt with the officers, and she was the same with me. As I checked in, she called the maid service to inform them to clean our room right at 6:00pm (remember; we were on a day rate). Just a little hint to me that I needed to get out right at 6:00pm. When she found out that I was a Platinum member, her attitude completely changed, offering me to stay longer at no charge, willing to store my luggage while I went for supper. Her change in attitude was offensive, why treat people differently based on status. All in all the rooms are dated, very noisy, the little store was very overpriced, and I didn't even want to eat in the cafe. The hotel is completely encircled by freeways and right next to the airport. I travel a lot, stayed in a number of Bestwestern Hotels in my travels, this was one of the worst. I was happy to leave the hotel.

« Excellent location and clean rooms »

Has a 24 hour shuttle to the airport and the rooms are very clean. Our room attendant was Mercy and she did a fabulous job keeping the room very clean and well stocked. Many things are within easy walking distance but a car will be needed to get to the beach. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Honolulu, especially if in the military.

    1
« Worst hotel experience ever! »

First, if you are military you have to make reservations with the military liaison. This is so they can rip off the government by charging a rate near your TLA limit. When I explained that I would be paying out of my own pocket he gave me a lower rate to include (pet fee, parking and tax). When I checked in the military liaison seemed surprised and confused at the rate he gave me. After explaining myself again he decided to change my rate to exclude pet/parking/taxes costing 16% more. Not having another place for my family to stay I felt trapped and forced to accept the new terms. Upon checking in I learned, the hotel allows a local homeless man with an apparent mental health instability to wander the lobby, courtyard, and mini mart to make purchases. We shortened our stay from 10 nights to one leaving the next day. Changing the terms of our reservation is unacceptable, especially when your family is in the middle of a PCS move. Also allowing the homeless to wander the property freely is a matter of safety for my children. I will not recommend or stay at a Best Western again.

    « By the airport »

I chose this place because it was by the airport, and we only needed one night until rest of our family got here. The free airport shuttle picked us up quickly. Check in was easy, nice young men at the front desk. The room was on the 12th floor. The hallway walls and carpet looked a bit scary, but the room was very nice and clean. No marks on the walls, carpet looked clean everywhere, furniture looked good ( no dings or scratches). The bathroom was a bit small, but very clean. The bathtub/shower tile grout and caulking were good and clean. And the bath towels were clean, white, and fluffy; not at all worn out. The beds were kind of small (full size), but, hey, there were 2 of them, so we each had a bed! And they were comfortable. Loved the sheets! Since we had the whole evening to find a place to eat, decided to go to Waikiki. So easy to get there and back on the bus which has stops, both ways, right out the front door of the hotel. And cost $2.75/person each way! The most annoying thing about the place was the traffic noise, which I started to notice as I was laying in bed, in the dark, at 5:00AM (my bio clock thought it was 8:00 o'clock because of time difference). But I did not notice it at all the night before when I went to bed at 10:00PM, because my body thought it was 1:00AM and ready to sleep. So if you are looking for something to bug you, the traffic noise could. But not a problem for me. Good place.

    « Good location! »

The hotel is very convenient, nice enough and has everything you need, friendly staff. The room was nice and clean.Good restaurant and Great housekeeping especially (Ms Amalia)Thank you! Safe and secure parking space. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended for military personnel

    « The troll kingdom »

If you get into the troll kings court up high in the tower it's not so bad, but if you are in the courtyard with the troll peasants the road noise from the overpass will keep you up, every Harley on the island will be sure to rev their engine as they pass on the lower road under the overpass to let you know how loud they can be.

« Most friendly staff Mrs. Annie / Mrs. Rowena »

I need to give a big shout out to both mrs Annie and mrs Rowena for being so great and taking care of all our needs. These two have been the best house keepers we could ask for. Been here for nearly 60 days and they both have been so great to me and my family. The rest of the staff from the front desk to the restaurant have all been great I would recommend this hotel to anyone based on the staff...

    1
    « WOW »

We stayed here from Feb 14, 2018 until Feb 17, 2018. What can I say the traffic noise was unbelievable. There are three different highways beside, above and further above. My husband who has hearings aids could not sleep because of the noise. The room was clean and adequate, bed was good, shower was hot. They advertise an onsite restaurant but the hours are limited. No dinner service during the week, but you can take a shuttle to another sister restaurant. We did that once meal was okay. We did eat breakfast on site, which was very good. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Out door pool closes at 7:00p.m. no exceptions so therefore if you wanted to be outside in the fresh air you sat at or near the smoking table that was more than full. But the biggest disappointment for us was our rooms were on a second floor addition. Thus the noise problem we faced the freeways and there was no elevator. So staying in Hawaii at various places for 2 weeks we hiked a lot of bags up a full set of stairs. I must say for the price IF we every go to Honolulu we wont stay there.

« Perfect location for quick overnight at HNL »

Let's sum it up this way - it's not a tropical vacation resort, but it's perfect for a quick overnight either on your way through HNL. We overnighted here and caught the early morning flight to the Big Island. Convenient to the airport - convenience shuttle so no need for Uber or rental car. Several restaurants within walking distance. Older hotel, but clean. Mattresses are not the best we've slept on, but okay for 1 night.

    « the plaza hotel »

The Hotel offers great service. We experienced no issues, great housekeeping (Amalia), good food and excellent service from James the waiter and a very helpful from desk. Highly recommended for new Military personnel to the island, very short commute to your new station.

    2
« Great location, noisy highway »

For an overnight stay convenient to the airport, this hotel can't be beat. Unfortunately, it is located near a busy freeway, with noise all night so good rest is out of the question. Rooms are clean, bath is laughably small, decor outdated, dining so dreary a short walk to McDonalds was the better choice. The room rate is high for the quality so plan on adding a cab or bus fare and go to a better option away from the airport.

« Great hotel for coming or going from the island »

I only used this hotel for one night when leaving from our stay on the north shore. It has a shuttle to the airport and most rental car returns are right on that street. So you can check in, return your car, have dinner in their restaurant and take their shuttle to the airport for your early morning flight. Room was clean. Front desk service was fast and courteous. Restaurant was pretty good, and open 6:30 am to 9 pm. This is not a place you would want to spend your vacation. It is right by the noisy freeway and in an industrial area by the airport. There is no parking in front of the hotel for check in. You get one hour free in their parking garage to check in..then they charge $3 an hour or $30 a day to park. There are a few restaurants within walking but not close to anything else

    2
« Too expensive for mediocre »

Average room, noisy location next to freeway and industrial section of town. Way over-priced for average accommodations. We chose it because of free airport shuttle. Other Best Western across the country much more pleasing.

« Good Airport In Transit Hotel »

This is the closest hotel for in Transit passengers at HNL. You could even walk to this hotel. It has clean rooms and reasonable prices. There is also a McD, BK and iHop next door when you are really hungry.

    « Two sides. »

We had previously stayed 31 days at the Airport Best Western as part of a military move. We had an amazing experience, our room was fantastic and spacious. When moving again we decided to stay at the same hotel, difference being we had a pet now. The pet rooms are incredibly tiny, as a family of 4 our space was limited to say the least. The "pet friendly" rooms are also right next to H1 and the noise kept our cat extremely nervous and jumpy. We were given ear plugs at check in to combat the noise for ourselves. While we made this doable for the week we needed to stay, our biggest issue arose when our bathroom ceiling (which already had obvious patchwork) began pouring water from the ceiling. Water from holes now formed, from our ventilation fan, and from the heating light inside the shower. It was coming from our upstairs neighbor, and when notified maintenenaces solution was to have them turn their tub off. We were told to go about business as nornak and not given an option to move rooms, despite being an obvious electrical and health/air quality issue due to mold. If you are given a typical room in the tower, yes I would recommend this property as a conveniently located hotel, near the airport and BED among other locations. If you are looking for a pet friendly option, I would not put money towards a room here as it was fairly miserable at best.

    « Convenient »

Location is good for a couple night stay. Must have a car. No place in the area to walk unless your destination is subway or mcdonalds. Good food at the restaurant for breakfast. Reasonable priced items in the on site store.

    « Need better maintenance »

The bathroom was not cleaned well. The toilet interior parts need repair. There was a hole in the shower area near the spout. We were there because the hotel i pet friendly and we need to get out dog away from the noise of the New Years eve fireworks. We paid a premium price because it was the eve and though we should have at least a decently clean room for the price.

« Perfect for an early morning flight or late night arrival.... »

Hubby and I and teen son stayed here prior to an early morning International flight, arriving 6pm and departing 6am the following day, so weren't here for long. Our experience here was less than ideal. Firstly stood around at reception tired and hungry for close to an hour or so while our booking was located....and, just quietly, going into mild panic when being told that they're actually "fully booked" ... booking was eventually found. It appeared to be a problem with booking.com, not the hotel itself. Our room was facing the highway which was a stone's throw away. Ear plugs on the bedside alerted us that we were in for a noisy night....we were so tired that we thought it wouldn't be a problem....it was. The room was immaculately clean & fresh, good amenities provided (including pod coffee machine) Decent sized TV. The beds were on the small side...which along with the noise, contributed to our lack of sleep. The shuttle service was EXCELLENT....from queue outside hotel to airport in under 10 minutes. I would stay here again, but would request a room away from the highway (is too expensive to have a poor night's sleep..) & also pack warmer sleepwear. The air-conditioner was great to somewhat drown out the highway noise, but couldn't be adjusted so it was ridiculously cold overnight for the bedding supplied.

« Great and convenient hotel near HNL »

It was true that HNL doesn't have too many choices of hotel but luckily this choice was a good one. Convenient shuttle from/to the airport and we were upgraded to a corner room with airport view. The room was quite spacious and clean, although the bed was too soft. Uber was available to access to other places such as Waikiki. Breakfast was not included even for elite members but it is order to pay not a buffet. I read the complaints about the noise from the highway but I didn't notice too much during the night.

« Easy and well located for a late flight arrival ! »

We arrived by the 11h20 pm flight. The flight was late. We got our bagages, call the hotel and 10 min. later we had a shuttle just across the bagage claim area. We got to the hotel in no time at all. Nice when your flight is late. The check-in was easy. The room was fine. Nothing fancy but clean. Noisy from the highway but when it is for one night, it is not a problem. It did not stop us at all from sleeping. The next day, we caught the bus (public transportation: 2.75$/person) right across the street from the hotel and in 45 minutes or less we were in Waikiki, on the beach. We would stay there again!

« Great hotel, great restaurant »

The check in service was quick and efficient. The room was nicely appointed and very clean. We were surprised at how great the restaurant was - food was delicious and service was very good. I would recommend this location to anyone flying in or going to visit Pearl Harbor - close and convenient.

Shuttle service convenient for airport. Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed. Good internet. Good selection of cable channels. Easy checkout. Good selection in restaurant. Everything necessary available in room

    « Trip to Oahu »

Convenient and free shuttle. Clean, pleasant, pool, cafe, nice staff. Close to Pearl Harbor. Stayed one night, spent a Sunday at Pearl Harbor, then drove to our resort in Koolina. Good for a brief stopover. Had rooms at back so not noisy from highway. Joined free as a Best Western member. Cut cost of parking in half to $15. Well worth it.

    2
    « Military PCS »

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE PCSING TO HAWAII. Total rip off. Taking all of your approved TLA for housing. Place is small and your family will be on top of each other. There is only a mini refrigerator and a microwave. Eating out gets really expensive. It's hard for a family to survive at this hotel for more than a week.

    5
    « Best Western plaza »

Our stay at this Best Western was pleasant. The room was clean. The room was next to the freeway so it was very noisy. The staff is always helpful and polite. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

« Front Desk Fran and Mena »

Got to the hotel too early but this was not a problem for Fran and we sure appreciated that. Fran and Mena were able to accommodate us and we were so glad as we were tired. It is so close to the airport and taking the shuttle was a perfect setup for our plans.

    « Great Stay »

Great value, great customer service and great location. We walked to McDonalds there was a petrol station and a little shopping centre across the road where we had the famous L& L Barbeque for our last night of dinner.Thank you for a great last night in Honolulu and the free 24hr shuttle ride to the airport.

    3
    « Overnite Short Stay »

Love the conveniency of being near the airport and the shuttle was great - quite expensive when you check in at 11pm and check out at 6am as you are charged the regular rate for only 7 hours and no breakfast included

    3
    « Average at best »

After 12 hrs of travel I stayed here for a one night stop before boarding as US Navy Carrier. I got to the desk 10 minutes before 3pm, which is check-in time. I was told the room was not ready and asked to have a seat in the lobby. 30 minutes later I went to the counter to check-in. Finally got my room. Restaurants were close by and I got a good nights sleep. Room did not appear clean. This was the closest hotel to the airport.

    4
    « Good location »

Convenient location, on bus line. Near McDonalds and D Donuts. Not a noisy hotel even though it's close to airport. Very helpful staff and clean. Have stayed a few times and always good. Restaurant staff a bit slow but attentive.

    3
    « Quality and service »

The quality is exactly what you pay for. It's actually decent, but there was a lot of construction going on in the parking and it was limited. My room got skipped several times from the cleaning crew, but overall it wasn't bad.

« Airport convenience at its best »

What can I say if you have a 1 night layover or need to be near the military bases I highly recommend The Best Western Plaza hotel. Rooms look great recently renovated. Friendly staff and so close to airport and free Wi-Fi. They have free shuttle pickup at airport. Traffic in and out of Waikiki for overnighter just stay here.

    4
    « DOES THE JOB »

Great for views of the airport, room 1018..street parking to the rear of the hotel, pearl harbour 10 mins away in a car, wakiki 15-25 dependent on traffic..easy to get onto major routes, save a few dollars staying here rather than the really high prices downtown

    3
« Inexpensive hotel, Very close to the Airport, Book a tower room »

ery close to the airport and Hickam Air Force Base. Close also to restaurants in the strip mall on Nimitz hwy and near by Salt Lake Plaza (2-3 miles). Parking in the base of the tower (No problem if its raining. And it rained several times during my 2 week stay). I stayed for 12 days - housekeeping wouldn't leave enough soap (had to ask for it). The family style rooms near the highway are extremely noisy - I did not see that mentioned when booking. So, maybe due to my fault, did not get a good room at first (had to ask for it) - later gave me a room in the tower (lower noise) that was sub-par - water not draining in the tub. Gift store is well stocked with a nice lady managing it. Front desk guys and ladies were helpful and action oriented. When I requested, they changed my room to the tower where the noise from the nearby highway was lower. Also I am ever grateful to one of the ladies in the front desk who made an excellent travel plan for me to see the island.

« Next to airport with modern rooms »

I needed a place to spend the night near the airport, so I booked a room for one night. Rate was very reasonable. I called the hotel after I picked up my luggage, and the shuttle was there at my baggage claim within 5 minutes. Staff was nice and check-in process was very quick. My room was on the 12th floor facing the airport and highway. There was no noise from the airport that I could notice, but I did hear the traffic on the highway although it was not loud enough to bother me or keep me from sleeping. Room was very clean with modern bathroom and furniture. Wifi speed was very fast. The hotel has a small convenience shop in the lobby but there are several restaurants and gas station within a block or so. There's also a sidewalk to the airport. The 12th floor had an exercise room and pool outside, but I did not use either. I will stay here again if I need to spend the nigh near Honolulu airport.

    2
« Helpful staff and convenient location, but you may need to use the earplugs »

In most respects this hotel lives up to what it says on the box. It's very convenient for the airport, and the rates are reasonable for Honolulu (though saying the parking fee is "nominal" when it turns out to be $30 - reduced to $15 for Rewards members - is a bit misleading). The in-room furnishings looked brand new, the wifi worked well, and the staff were helpful. The downsides are the physical structure of the building. We had a room on the 10th floor, and even up there you'll need to use the earplugs (which are provided!) if you're a light sleeper due to the freeway noise. It's also apparently impossible to completely turn off the central air conditioning (a maintenance guy came and could only jam a towel over the outlet) - not a big problem but it was cooler than we'd have chosen during a November visit.

    « A happy sailor »

I'm a sailor in the us navy and just pulled in from a deployment. Best western employee Fran help me save 150 dollar by informing of the rewards program and put me in a very nice room fast and efficiently

    4
    « Staff Excellent »

The hotel was very good. However, "Fran" at the front desk was amazing! She went way beyond what we could reasonably expect to accommodate our special needs. Fran is one in a million. She is the model for what customer service should be.Thank you so much for your consideration and caring.

    3
« Close to the airport. Easy access... Excellent Rates »

We arrived late and didn't want to rent a car and then have the task of finding a hotel. So we decided to have the Best Western shuttle pick us up and take us to the hotel for the night. The room was clean and spacious. We had a corner room with a view although a view of nothing special that's for sure. I think they called it an upgrade. lol Check out was a breeze. In the morning we had breakfast which was yummy but nothing special. I think we were really hungry from flying so many hours. In the morning after breakfast we took the shuttle over the the airport to rent our car. The Economy Car Rental picked us up and took us over to the car rental location where we pick up our car... and that's where our adventure of the island began. We would use them again.

    2
    « Bad experience »

Arrived staff wasn't friendly or welcoming. Our room was outdated. The bathroom was very small the curved shower rod kept the door from opening completely. The room windows seemed to be open no matter how many times I opened and closed the window you could hear the outside in the room. It also was chilli in the room and tried to cut off the A/C and the thermostat didn't work so we were cold the nights we were there and to top it off $30 a day for guest parking. Won't be staying here again and will advise family and friends not to stay here

« November Inspection Trip to Honolulu »

I found the hotel staff to be very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The room was clean and kept that way my entire stay. The hotel is close to the airport and great for getting to my assignments in the port and not have to deal with the resort traffic by the beach. Advise to get a room away from the freeway though.

  • 5
    « Airport Convenience »

We had an early morning flight so chose to stay at the airport. The hotel is a block or two away from the airport with frequent and convenient shuttle service. Our room was clean, well appointed, and larger than I expected. We read a previous review so asked for one away from the Expressway and it was quiet and I slept well. We didn't expect much from the simple restaurant but a simple glass of wine and a well prepared Hawaiian chicken dish was tasty and inexpensive. Not the Ritz (and not Ritz prices) but for an airport hotel it was fine and I would stay there again.

    5
    « Pleasant, convenient stay! »

The close proximity to the airport (2 minutes) and the complimentary shuttle make this Best Western Plaza Hotel the most logical choice for me! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, convenience store, pool and spa are all added amenities I plan to take advantage of in the future. Prompt airport pick up is also an added benefit!

    5
    « Good night sleep »

Hotel was very clean with comfortable beds. Restaurant served delicious meals. The swimming pool was very clean. Shuttle to the airport was excellent service. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly.

« Freeway noise is a deal killer »

One night stay. checked in late, checked out early. Freeway noise is so loud it is not possible to get a good nights rest. Close to airport, but there must be a better option. Bus driver very helpful and the bus runs on time.

    3
« Overpriced dated, airport convenience. »

Title tells what you need to know . Fitness center ok. Location close to airport but closer to freeway.. can practically feel vehicles driving by thru the single pane windows. Close to airport and yet awkward to get to if driving. Drive an extra 15 min, get a better value hotel!

    4
    « hawaii best western »

great hotel to stay at to visit Pearl Harbor. you do not have beaches or shopping nearby but very easy to reach Pearl and not get mixed up in traffic. You can catch a bus either direction easily so I am told but didn't try A cab is always there out front.

    4
« Overpriced, but pet friendly »

Nothing spectacular about the rooms. Parking stinks and the location I'ds very loud, right under the highway. Also it's great that they are pet friendly, but the pet area circles the outside of the pool area. When you try to use the pool, you are bombarded with flies. Staff is very nice and very attentive.would I stay at Best Western again, yes. Would I stay at this one in Honolulu, no.

    4
    « Surprisingly nice! »

We had stayed here years ago on a one night layover and it was just awful. Dated, dirty and so many broken items in our room. I had read the Plaza had been remodeled so I booked another one night stay for this trip. We got a remodeled room on the 12th floor...delightfully clean and modern. We travel with a sound soother so that covered up the tremendous traffic noise. We loved the convenience of the closeness to the airport. If you can deal with the noise, this hotel is great!

    2
    « Yes, it's THAT bad. »

I thought, oh it can't be THAT bad. Yes. It was. I booked a government rate since I'm a federal employee. They put us in a room with a door LITERALLY 5 FEET from the highway. The noise was outrageous! They gave us earplugs, so I slept okay. What was NOT okay? The filthy glass door with long scratches up and down. The rest of the room was okay--not the dirtiest I've been in, but definitely not clean. My son is a germaphobe and refused to sleep under the covers. Would not recommend staying here longer than necessary. Or not at all. Luckily it was only one night. Any longer than that and the roaches likely would've been company.

« Pleasant End for Vacation »

We stayed one night in order to catch an early flight and found the hotel and restauarnt to be very convenient and a nice end to our vacation. The restaurant, while not fancy, provides a great menu and the food is terrific which is unexpected for an airport hotel. Our waiter James was frendly and efficient. He also made suggestions from the menu. My husband had the Huli Huli Chicken which was outstanding. My hamburger was one of the best I can remember. Location is a little iffy, right under the expressway. Get a room in back to avoid the traffic noise. Would recommend hotel if looking for a place by the airport.

« Convenient to airport and reasonable rates. »

Hotel is very convenient to airport, however it's very loud because it is so close to the highway. So close, in fact, that the hotel gives you complimentary ear plugs with your room. Can't help but think a really good replacement window would help the noise situation. Complimentary shuttle from airport, however the lady at the front desk failed to tell the driver and we waited 30 minutes for the shuttle whose hotel is 4 minutes away after 3 phone calls to the hotel. There is very little surrounding the hotel (restaurants, shops, etc.), however there is a very nice restaurant in the hotel. We ate dinner at the restaurant and we don't know what was best (the service or the food). Food was excellent and so was the service and it was quick as well.

    4
    « Last Night Stay »

This was a good location for us since we were flying out early the next day after our cruise. It also has a free shuttle to the airport. Fran was so helpful in getting us into our room early with all our bags. She was so friendly & helpful giving us some good advice about the area & when to get to the airport.

    5
    « Quick overnight stay »

Pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Recognizes elite status and late check out, even though i didn't need it. Did Not visit the restaurant or the pool so i can't comment on that. The shuttle was quick and driver was very nice. Not too many places to eat around but i saw a Mcdonalds and a Subway near by. Its a good hotel if you're arriving late to honolulu and dont want to spend a fortune on a missed day at a bigger resort.

    « Excellent trip »

My stay at the Best Western was excellent. I do business there very often. Employees were and are very helpful and have always made my stay extremely comfortable. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

    4
    « Excellent service »

Staff very friendly and helpful. Sharon at reception was terrific at handling an awkward arrival and departure time for us. Rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. Restaurant (breakfast and dinner only) is excellent - great service and excellent food! Location is a 5 minute drive from the airport. Did not experience any airplane noise inside the hotel, but outside on the patio was extremely noisy as the hotel is next to the major freeway. Great hotel for between flight stays.

« You Had ONE Job! »

Stayed at hotel October 2017 prior to very early morning flight. My first impression was that hotel appeared to be much better than negative reviews. Very clean grounds and lobby, very pleasant and (I thought) helpful front desk staff. I asked for a quiet room and was given one away from the freeway side. Room was very clean, comfortable bed and quiet. During check-in I stressed to the receptionist that I MUST HAVE a 6:00 am wake-up call to meet my plane. My travel clock had broken and I have no faith in my ability to set hotel radio/alarm clocks. He repeatedly reassured me that I would receive the call and even showed me that he was writing down my request. Needless to say, no wake-up call. I woke at 6:30, grabbed my luggage and flew downstairs only to be told that the next hotel shuttle to the airport would not leave for another 30 minutes. I told the driver that I did not get my promised wake-up call, I'd already loaded my luggage BY MYSELF into the shuttle and I needed to be taken to the airport now! I guess the driver noticed the smoke coming out of my ears, took pity on me and drove me to the airport. After clearing Agriculture Inspection (long lines), United bag check (long lines), TSA (long lines) and then running through the airport I made it onto the plane as the last to board. The main reason for staying at this hotel is its proximity to the airport, its 24-hour airport shuttle and promise of a wake-up call. Whoever dropped the ball on giving me the promised wake-up call generated this one star rating. Too bad, because I would have been very pleased to give the hotel a 5 star rating.

    4
« Nice room, friendly staff »

Stayed one night and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the rooms were. Had breakfast at the restaurant on site and it was good. Staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The 24 hour shuttle serve to the Honolulu airport was a plus too!

    4
« Close to the airport »

just a 5 or 10 minute ride from the airport. Excellent free shuttle service. Rooms are older, but clean.Good water pressure even on the 10th floor. Elevators are super slow. Excellent store in the lobby. great selection.

« Great helpful staff who are filled with aloha »

I've stayed at this conveniently located hotel many times over the past few years and I've always been satisfied. ON my most recent stay we got a recently renovated room that was large and comfortable. As always, the staff are very helpful and anxious to meet the needs of guests. Parking is convenient and secure.

« The best hotel close to the airport. »

They have nice clean rooms available. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a nice place to stay for a night. We stayed here on our last night in Hawaii and it was nice to swim in the pool while we had time to kill before our flight left later on in the evening. It is in a very industrial area and far from the beaches so I would not recommend it as a place to stay if you want to see Hawaii.

    « clean and comfortable »

we stayed for one night and had an early flight the next day. hotel clean and comfortable. close to airport with free shuttle great for a short stay. restaurant was not open on the night but hotel staff gave information for local takeout

    5
« An Ideal stopover Hotel »

We used this place for a 1 night stopover. They have a free shuttle bus service that runs every half hour, 24hrs a day or you can call from the free phones outside the arrival terminal to get there. It is about a 5-10 minute at tops, either way. The hotel was clean and comfortable and surprisingly we didn't notice any 'airport noise'. The staff were kind and courteous. There was the opportunity to catch a bus into Waikiki for $2.50 each way and a stop right outside the hotel, but we knew we were coming back for longer in a weeks time so we didn't do that. We did walk to a shopping centre (about 40 mins) close to Pearl Harbour (Moanalua Shopping Centre) to go to the AT&T outlet to buy a sim for our phones that gave us unlimited data, text and calls in the USA which proved to be a godsend for our travelling to NYC and back to Hawaii for over 2 weeks. The staff there couldn't have more helpful. We also had lunch tat the shopping village and walked back. The restaurant at the hotel was great. The staff were very engaging and the meals beautiful. The day we departed was so easy because of the location of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again if I was having a short stopover.

« Enjoy sleeping on the road »

This hotel is dirty and built next to the freeway. The noise from the traffic is loud and continues throughout the night. The fact that earplugs are included in the room should be an indicator to not stay here.

    « Better than expected! »

We are relocating to the island and have been staying here long term while waiting for our home! Hotel life isn't fun, but everyone here at the Best Western has been so great. The front desk staff always have a smile on their face and have been so helpful! Annie was our housekeeper and she was a joy to see everyday! She was always making sure that there was nothing else that we needed and she is so friendly. She remembered mine and my husbands names every time she saw us even if it was just passing us in the hall. She seemed genuinely interested in our life and what we have going on! We want to say thank you for everyone at the Best Western making our stay great so far! :)

    5
    « great location »

This location was a great start and end point for our daily touring of the Island. Rental car location was within walking distance - one block. Our room was large, clean and quiet. Very friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to fast food restaurants for quick breakfast/dinner.

    4
    « Nice Place for the $$ »

The Staff was friendly and the rooms were updated, clean and were pleasant to be in. The lobby and halls were clean and they attempted to update them but the general style made it difficult to really accomplish that.

    4
    « Free airport shuttle »

Needed a hotel close to the Honolulu airport since I had a 7am flight out. The hotel I usually stay in was sold out so I booked here. I hadn't heard great things about it but I didn't have a lot of options. It was a nice surprise-actually a much nicer hotel than where I usually stay! There is no restaurant, FYI, but they have a large shop with lots of food and drink options. My room was nice, clean, quiet. Staff was very professional, shuttle in the morning was quick and easy.

    3
    « Convenient to airport! »

Nice stay. Close to airport. Cleam, small rooms with efficient staff. Overpriced and decor is utilitarian and dated. Would recommend if you've got an early flight to catch otherwise better off staying somewhere closer to town.

    4
« Good Option for an Overnight Stay »

Efficient check in and rooms were clean and comfortable. Would stay here again when flight schedules require on overnight stay. Shuttle to/from the airport is nice but took a long time for pick up at the airport. That would be my only recommendation for improvement is to have a more efficient schedule for airport pick up. Prompt schedule to the airport to accommodate early morning flights.

    4
« Close to the airport »

Chose this hotel since it was close to the airport after a late arriving flight. Very convenient. Clean and friendly staff. Liked the pool area the next morning to relax a bit before traveling to our hotel for 8 days. If we had known how close the hotel was to the car rental, we would have taken advantage of the hotel shuttle and then just walked to the car rental place the next day to save us the $15 parking fee. Did not have free breakfast like we are used to at Best Westerns. McDonalds is right next door so we walked there to get the local plate breakfast. Will stay here in the future if we arrive late. Price was reasonable for Honolulu.

    « Wonderful Staff »

My room was clean and comfortable. I was only there for one night as I was connecting to Jetstar the next morning to Australia. I called for shuttle and was told it would be 15 minutes, but it arrived in less than 10 minutes :) 24 hour airport shuttle is great! There is a shop in lobby with a wide selection of snacks and drinks, including a nice selection of wine. There is a delightful hotel restaurant and other options close by. The staff is excellent!!! Friendly and helpful.

    4
    « Quick Stay »

This was a great stay. I made the reservation and checked in an hour later. The room was clean and a/c was good! The bathroom was large & bed was comfortable. The Room is spacious also. For a one night stay this was perfect for 2!

« Good for short term »

We stayed at this best western for one night since it's very conveniently located close to the airport (plus they have a complimentary shuttle service that runs 24hours, just call them using the courtesy phone in the baggage claim area). Very friendly hotel staff that upgraded us to a corner room which was very spacious and clean only the bathroom was a little dated. We didn't use the pool, but it looked well maintained. Breakfast is a little pricey, so we chose to grab a quick bite at Joe's grill express. Would stay here again if we had a layover in Honolulu!

    4
« Good quality budget hotel close to airport »

Great hotel as we had a super early flight back to Australia. Loved the shuttle. Rooms were clean and quiet considering the proximity to airport. Seemed to be fairly new. Would be good to have queen size beds instead of doubles as our family of 4 were sharing. Would definitely use this hotel again for an early flight.

    4
« Very nice room and excellent restaurant and breakfast! Very loud, busy and ghetto area though. »

The room was very nice and easy accessible. It is very close to the highway and alot of homeless. Close to airport. Not sure if I'd stay again or not. A couple employees are nice but the most part they need to be a little more caring of the guest and hotel needs.

    3
    « Don't expect a good nights sleep »

This hotel is very handy for its location if you have an early flight but it's the only hotel I have ever stayed in that gives you free foam ear plugs! I wondered why this was until I realised that our front facing room on the 8th floor was in direct line with an 8 lane elevated freeway! Lorries and motorcycles thundering past at all hours of the night! The room was clean and tidy and well presented, there was a coffee maker, fridge and microwave, toiletries also provided.

Nice, clean and quiet room with a view on 11th floor. 2 Queen-side beds, bar fridge (empty for once), MW, TV - everything OK. ~20 minutes to car return and shuttle to airport. Staff at desk friendly and helpful, you can get your boarding passes printed to save time on check-in. For meals, better drive 5 min to the Moanalua Shopping Center (exit Hotel carpark, Left on Nimitz, drive straight about 1km, turn right at 'Business Center' sign. Ribs at Ruby are good!

« Quiet, Clean, but a Little Dated »

A very quiet room in the middle of a lot of traffic noise and an excellent bed made the night perfect after traveling all day. The hotel is somewhat dated but very clean. The restaurant was top notch for breakfast. Would stay there again if I needed to be close to HNL.

« BEST HOTEL TO STAY WITH THE BEST STAFF AND FRIENDLY... »

So impressed with how amazing the entire staff was provided a wonderful stay. Convenient location and for those looking for a lot of personal attention this is the place the staff was very accommodating and very friendly. All the staff deserve the very Best because that's how they treat us. All the staff makes this hotel outstanding.

RUN far away from this place ! overpriced, Restaurant is HORRIBLE, Rooms are ok but A/C is bad . ( got a upper respiratory infection during my stay) Parking is HORRIBLE. Homeless guy living under bridge frequents the little minimart inside to buy his Booze.

« Access to airport n Naval Base Exchange is within 5 to 8 minutes! »

We are both retired Army Soldiers here for out processing at Schofield Army Base. Upon our arrival in Honolulu, we had no hotel accommodations nor car rental. When we drove by Best Western Hotel we were skeptical. To our surprise they quickly offered us a two bed room on the 6th floor. Hotel is Military friendly, rooms are clean, no musty dusty odors. Housekeeping personnel are friendly and great at accommodating their guests' requests! Kudos to Ms. Mercy Beuyuga, she always kept our room clean n promptly provided us with enough coffee, sugar n clean towels! Thank you Mercy! We also liked the multi-level covered parking. Four items of concern: 1. Hot water in shower has inconsistent flow. Within 3 minutes of showering the water ran cold like you would have to keep adjusting the flow of the cold n hot water knobs. 2. No bar in the hotel. 3. Very slow elevator. 4. Employees and staff should have their own "service elevator". Yes, we would come back to this hotel.

    « Best experience ever! »

The best stay yet. the staff was very professional and welcoming. They all went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met. We usually don't eat at the restaurants but this one, was the best. They had a great variety of food and it all tasted awesome.

« Not up to Best Western standards »

We missed our flight, it was around 10 pm and we were searching for a hotel close to the airport. We arranged for their shuttle to pick us up, it arrived within twenty minutes. When I arrived at the hotel the lobby was small and in need of some updating. We entered our room which looked tidy, the bathroom was very small, and the bathtub was dirty. The next morning I spoke with a cleaning lady about it and it was never cleaned. The bed and sheets looked nice and clean. The noise level was high and I had to use ear plugs. There was a charge for breakfast, so we did not eat there. The room was expensive more so than the main hotel we stayed in while there. I would not stay there unless it's for one night.

« An excellent airport hotel. »

My family and I left the HNL terminal at 10:00 PM at the end of a travel day that began 18 hours earlier. All we were looking for when we booked our night at Best Western The Plaza Hotel was a quiet, clean room with a comfortable bed that we could access quickly from the airport so we could get a good night's sleep after a tiring day and before heading to the North Shore. Reviews indicated this was the place and we are very happy with our choice which exceeded every one of our expectations. There was construction at the airport that made it difficult to get to the shuttle pickup spot and we missed the shuttle that was sent for us. The hotel was most accommodating when we called back with our explanation and the shuttle was quickly sent back. The driver was helpful and friendly, providing excellent instructions on how to pick up our rental car the next day and assisting in every way possible. Desk staff were efficient and very quickly we were in our rooms and sleeping off a six-hour time change. Rooms were a decent size, beds were super comfortable, bathrooms were spotless and everything about our rooms was well maintained. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with excellent service the next morning, took the shuttle back to the airport to get our rental car and were grateful for the very easy connection from the hotel to the parking garage. Checkout was very efficient and everyone ? shuttle drivers, desk staff, housekeeping and restaurant staff ? provided a great introduction to the Aloha Spirit. A wonderful experience with a hotel that fit our needs to a T.

Ok. Clean & tidy. Did have shower flood & was a bit out of the way for the beach took about 50 mins to get in on the bus. It did have a shuttle pick up from the airport though. Would poss try a different hotel if we went again

Rooms not ready upon arrival. Was never informed of any amenities, wifi wouldn't work. AC had been turned off so it was super stuffy in the room. Mold in bathroom everywhere. Very tight quarters. So loud we couldn't sleep.

    « PCSing to Hawaii »

Flew into the unknown. Booked a hotel for two nights in Waikiki. We couldn't stand the traffic and parking prices of 30 plus dollars. Called up Mr. Les and BAM! Got my family a nice room with two bed. Super comfy and spacious room. The front desk Fran and Mena was super helpful and military friendly. Truly a military family hotel. Best customer service, prime location to many food eateries. Only down side is no beach front. They have a well kept pool. We will be back again.

    5
    « Excellent service - Prime location »

Best Western staff were very attentive. The location to the airport and mid way of our events were helpful. We will return again this year, due to their service and location. We first wanted to see if it would fulfill our needs and Best Western did. I would recommend the hotel to family and friends.

« Good location, great staff, but... »

Location is minutes from the airport, Pearl Harbor, and the Hickman Joint Military base. The staff was great all around. Pool area nice and clean. Room was clean and they provide daily service. Cafe had good food and delicious coffee. Parking can be tough in the garage if you return late in the day. Get yourself a Best Western points card for discounted parking. The real downfall was the noise. The hotel is situated in between the Honolulu airport and the H1 highway. We were on the top (12th) floor and could easily hear all the traffic on the highway day and night. Luckily my wife brought one of the kids sound machines to drown out the noise. The room never seemed to cool down enough so most nights were considerably warm. However, for us we prefer the temp in the low 70's upper 60's when sleeping so may not be an issue for some.

We check in on the 30th of June and moved out on the 24th of july. The experience at the Best Western was Great. I felt safe and at home . The rooms was clean and up to date. Our room attendant Amalia was Outstanding,Very Courteous , All together Great person. She was very considerate when she would knock and will be told to come back, because of a late sleeper. We occupied two rooms connectors. I will revisit the Best Western because her of Welcoming spirit. I been in hospitality for 20years and she is the kind of associate i employer should appreciate. Please acknowledge her with employee of the month.

« Smart place to stay for a quick stay »

Very close to the Airport. I somehow couldn't find it because the rental car gps doesn't work when driving on the bottom part of the double decker highway. A 1 minute drive took us 45 minutes :) The hotel is in a good location on the island. You are here for a short visit and want to drive around anyhow so why pay for luxury?!? I was happy to stay here. It was nice and the pool was better than most Best Westerns. I think for someone who wants to experience Hawaii on a budget then I would recommend this. It's cheap but who cares! It's a good value for the smart traveler!!

    3
    « Airport Convenience »

This hotel is right next to the airport, and they have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes, but it's also next to the H1 which means that there is A LOT of street noise! There are only a few restaurants within walking distance, and zero nightlife nearby! The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly.

    5
« Quiet and convenient Holel »

Contrary to other reviews, the hotel was very quiet. Staff was very courteous. Hotel was close to the airport. Stayed overnight between flights and used their free shuttle service between the airport and hotel.

Nice Place to stay, great Value for Military, This hotel will help with the cost of expenses during a PCS coming to Hawaii. Les the Military liaison will ensure that you don't go over your allotted TQSE/TLA (to include pets) if you look at other hotels you will be spending up to $50 per day for parking and $35 per day per pet. Check this hotel out and call Les.

« Even Better Than Expected »

As usual, the people at a hotel set the stage for the stay. No exception here- front desk, gift shop, and shuttle driver were the ones we interacted with the most & they were excellent- good enough that we bought pizza for the night staff on our last night. Although I was there for work, we had a corner room that was bigger than I expected & the view wasn't bad- we could just barely see over the airport (but this isn't a hotel you'd book for the view anyway). The other thing that mattered most was that the room was quiet- very little noise bleeding from the ceiling or hallway. Even though the airport is 1/4mi away, it will still take 5-10 minutes to get to some of the terminals because they have to basically drive to the end of the airport and enter at the far end- not a big deal, but don't expect to be there in 1-2 minutes. Overall, I'd say that if you need something close to the airport, this is your best choice- a little pricey, but I've stayed at hotels in Oahu that charged just as much for a lot less. I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

    « Quick stop over »

I was between work locations and want a place to relax before flying out. Great place. Convenient to work, resturants, sites and best of all. No heavy traffic to deal with going to my favorite location. Sleep on on Saturday until 9. As a left the room the housekeepers greeted me and said she would clean while I was down eating breakfast. Courteous and very efficient staff.

    « Fran was excellent »

Fran gave us wonderful service. She is an asset to your company. I would return to your hotel based on her welcoming Aloha spirit. She made our day and stay. Mahalo Fran and Best Western. Submitted by Carlton and Danita Torres of Kohala Hawaii.

    « Great Airport Hotel »

Stayed for 1 night after long flight from the UK. You ring the hotel for the free shuttle bus from the luggage claim area, phones are free, located near luggage claim area G5. Walk out of the terminal near H5, go right, follow the road around a small bend, do not cross, that's were all the shuttle buses park. Rooms are comfortable, beds were great. Small shop on ground floor level for drinks snacks etc. We did not use the swimming pool, breakfast was good, started at 6.30. Shuttle back to the airport goes every half hour, be ready 15 minutes before. Driver asks which airline you need, saves a lot of walking. Best bit of the stay was the staff, all very friendly.

    4
    « Decent Stay »

Hotel is expensive but almost next door to airport. Room was clean. Room had complete "blackout curtains" for daytime sleeper. I've used the Airport Plaza going back to 1987. One thing has changed, the shuttle bus no longer picks guests up in front of the baggage claim sliding entrance-exit door. The shuttle bus driver explained he will get a fine. Now the shuttle bus picks guests in the "Tour Bus Parking lot" in the "Back" of the baggage claim area. To find this area, locate the baggage area restrooms. There is one back door located near the restrooms, use this backdoor to enter the tour bus parking lot.

    3
« Small Beds for the price »

The two double beds were too small for two adults and one 11 year child. For the price they charge they should waive the rollaway bed charge and not try to charge the $30 fee per night. Hotel seems overpriced based on bed configuration and location (in the middle of the expressway with nothing less than a mile away). Good for travelers that need to spend a night near the airport and do nothing else.

    « Fine »

Stayed for one night on our way to Kona. Here are a few nuggets. Don't bother calling for the airport shuttle until you have your bags in hand. They won't come until you're actually ready. Apparently they're not allowed to stop and wait. Also, there crossing guards at the airport with whistles that yell at people that cross outside the designated crosswalks. The shuttle driver was very nice and the ride was only about 5 minutes. The hotel is in sort of an industrial area so not much right around. There is a restaurant on site and the food was fine. The hotel sits right beside H1 and Nimitz Hwy. we had trouble sleeping because of the traffic noise. Might want to ask for a room at the rear of the property. Overall, the hotel met our purpose. Room was clean, staff nice, close to airport, and free shuttle every half hour.

    1
    « Lack of Sleep »

Near 2 Expressways. Not noted in literature, AAA, BW, etc. Traffic heavy & noise level obscene. Single pane windows from another era. Motorcycle & truck traffic. Go elsewhere. Opinion: not a quality BW location. Expensive as well. No value.

    4
    « Great for a long-term stay/Military PCS »

We ended up spending 42 days at this hotel when we arrived on the island for a military move. We chose this hotel because it was pet-friendly and the perks for military members i transition was excellent. The grounds and facilities were always very clean, and the staff was phenomenal. While I would have preferred to be on the beach, it would have cost us far more with parking for two cars plus pet fee.

    3
« It was an average place to stay. »

I didn't think I'd stay or need to stay more then one night. Had I known, for only $100 more, I could have stayed in a condo 1 block from Waikiki Beach. Many others stayed at nicer places next to the beach for cheaper. If you only fly in for a day and fly out - this place is fine.

    3
    « Convenient airport location »

Standard hotel room, pleasantly clean and the bed comforts was average. We were close to freeway but didn't notice the noise being intrusive. We wanted to be close to the airport, so the freeway access was not an issue. We actually liked our view to the harbor. We were most disappointed about the week closure of the pool with no notice. They should have waived the $30 for the rollaway. Sorry to say the food was awful. Front desk and shuttle driver was friendly.

    5
« Fabulous people and inexpensive price for the treatment. »

I'm a local and hate being treated like a tourist. These people are also locals and have to tolerate high expectations from mainland kind people. They are on the front line for your company and deserve to be recognized individually right to the security guard.Curious if there is a BW on the beach though? See you again soon. Randi Lynn Barnum

    « Great staff - highly recommended »

I want to start by saying my 3 Star rating for this property should not steer you away from staying here. It's common for military families to have an extended stay here as it is the only other location on the island that doesn't require a Statement of Non Availability from the Schofield Inn (for Army folks) Parking is free, where lots of properties require an additional fee. Meal Vouchers are provided to military families that are used at the on location restaurant. The rooms are average, definitely not terrible. What makes this place great is the staff. Always friendly and eager to offer assistance. Ramon in the restaurant is awesome. We still eat there once a month just so we can say hi. It's very close to the airport and if needed an airport shuttle is available.

    1
« NOISE IS ALL CONSUMING »

This is an older property situated next to the freeway as in less than 100 feet away from the freeway. While the rooms appear to have been renovated recently and the condition of the hotel is ok, the whole experience is RUINED by the constant freeway noise. They know they have a problem, but instead of replacing the windows with noise abatement windows during the last renovation, they give you a pair of earplugs.

    2
    « Parking problems »

Hotel did not advise of parking charges and requirement to validate parking ticket. 12 hours of parking cost us $50. Hotel manager did not return my call. Could have stayed at a much nicer hotel when you add in the parking charges

    4
« ideal airport stay over »

Free and frequent shuttle to/from this hotel, and the clean / large room make this an ideal airport stay over for catching up on sleep after a late arriving flight or for catching an early flight out. I went to Joe Express Grill for breakfast (much cheaper). Only downside is ambient noise from the freeway, generally not too much of an issue apart from the odd noisy car. The hotel would benefit from a upgrade to better double glazing for sound proofing

« Good place to stay near the airport. »

This hotel offers a free shuttle. It is clean. There is a good restaurant. It is a convenient place to stay if you are coming in a day early for a cruise. It is about a $12 Uber ride to the port. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable.

« Just an airport accomodation »

The advantage is it's vicinity of the airport. Look out for the phones at the luggage-belt and call the hotel... the shuttle is commuting every 30 minutes. You will find. Shop and laundry room on the ground floor.

    « Very Satified »

Why would you want to stay in Waikiki on a business trip in all of that chaos when the Best Western is close enough to everything for all your needs? Besides that... The Staff!!! Nothing short of outstanding. From Check in to check out Fran, Lorenzo, Sharon, and Cyn have been amazing and accommodating. My check in time was only 6 min and I was in a recently remodeled room in no time. Parking was ample and restaurants were close and my drive to the military base was super short. I had a request for something from the on site restaurant while it was closed. It would have been easy to say "come back later" but Fran went out of her way to fulfill my request with a smile. I'm in HI occasionally for business and have the opportunity to stay at a variety of places... The preferred hotel for my trips is The Best Western. Thanks

Stayed over-night at the Plaza Best Western to be near the airport for ease of catching flight to the mainland. Good, restful stay. Late checkout was wonderful and worth the additional price. Staff was great and the rooms were clean and restful.

    « Serves a purpose »

This hotel is close to the airport and does well for a quick business trip. Friendly service, clean and convenient. Not a vacation destination but served its purpose for a quick in and out. Airport shuttle was quick and easy. Restaurant breakfast servers were very fast and good food.

    « Perfect for stopover »

We booked this hotel for one night before we had to be at the airport at 6am the next morning with toddlers! It was exactly what we needed, fast check in and out, helpful staff and clean and comfortable room. The 24 hour shuttle bus was brilliant and only a 10 minute drive to the airport.

    « Port in a storm »

Given feedback from others regarding hotel costs in Honolulu, my travel buddy had reserved an AirBnB for us. Yikes! It was a pit; too disgusting to describe, BUT the good news was that there was a Best Western nearby (just minutes from the airport) at a price even less than what we were paying for that dump. Happily they had a room for the 2 nights we needed...a fabulous room in fact...on the top (12th) floor with a clear view of Diamond Head. The room was super clean and so comfortable (with mini-fridge and microwave). The onsite restaurant, which sold us our breakfast, has a pretty decent menu. There is a free airport shuttle and a very accommodating staff. We were able to store our bags for most our checkout day while we toured the USS Arizona Memorial site, did some shopping and had lunch before our evening flight. It probably didn't hurt that I'm a member of BW's reward program. Boom!!

    « Great service »

« Best Western Plaza Hotel Honolulu Airport »

Very comfortable rooms and very clean rooms. Staff response was very professional and caring. Restaurant breakfast was phenomenal. I recommend the breakfast Denver Omelet. Parking lot prices are high and if you are staying for a longer duration that could be bothersome. Shuttle service to the airport was very prompt and quick.

    3
« Good as an airport hotel. »

Location next to airport and shuttle service to the airport are very good. Otherwise the hotel has panoramic views of the H1 freeway, car sale yards or the airport. Noise levels are very high but they do provide complimentary ear plugs. Rooms are OK. Staff are good. The restaurant is OK for breakfast but is only open on weekends for dinner. Even then the food is uninspiring and drinks range very limited. No wine was available. Again, fine if you are transiting to or from the airport.

    « Met our needs »

We had need of a hotel to stay the night in before a hop to Big Island in the morning. This hotel was great for our needs. Staff was friendly and helpful, and were quick to fix a discrepancy in pricing from my booking with Expedia. I appreciated that immensely. We called from the airport and was picked up by a friendly driver about ten minutes later. The hotel itself was less than five minutes away. It is very close to the highway, but we weren't disturbed by noise. White noise from the central heating vent seemed to cover that up. We had a good nights rest. We were a little disappointed that the pool closed so early (sunset), but we were tired from a long flight anyways, and really just needed to get to bed. The room was very clean and tidy, and public areas were tidy as well. My only suggestion for improvement is to switch to queen beds. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for vacationing folks due to distance to the beach, etc, but it is perfect for an overnight before a flight out in the morning. I would definitely book again for the same purpose.

« Noisy room between freeway and Tarmac. Shocking place, nasty check in staff »

The worst hotel we've ever stayed at. Staff at check in we're so rude. The room was beside the freeway, and so noisy, although they left earplugs fir you. Shambles trying to get on complementary shuttle. Never stay here.

« Great location free shuttle to airport »

A great hotel close to the airport. Free shuttle every 30 minutes to the airport. The staff are very attentive and caring. The restaurant is large and open air to the pool. The pool is great. The rooms are comfortable and safe.

« Just what we needed! »

The Best Western near the airport was just what we needed. It was 8-10 minutes from Pearl Harbor which made it easy to get to for our 8:00 a.m. reservation there. And when we went sightseeing, the H1 highway was right beside the hotel. The rooms were clean, the service great, the staff friendly and helpful, and we loved the express checkout. We only slept in the room as we were sightseeing all day the 2 full days we we there. We spent part of a day on Waikiki Beach, but had no interest in staying in that area because of the higher prices and more traffic issues. The Best Western may not be for others, but it worked well for us. On our third day we drove to the Honolulu pier and boarded a ship for a 7 day cruise to 3 other islands, including 4 port stops.

    « Welcome respite! »

The front desk staff of Fran and Mena were most welcoming after a long (10 hour flight). A great introduction to Hawaii! We were tired and hungry and the staff were so helpful with a highlighted map and directions. Our room was good even if it was near highway noise( earplugs were provided) The room was surprisingly quiet. Shuttle driver was cheerful and prompt! Good value!

« Great for Late Flight Arrival »

I had a late night flight into Honolulu after a day of touring in Maui. For me it did not make a lot of sense to incur the added expense of booking and getting to a hotel in Waikiki this particular late night. This hotel provided the perfect alternative. When I arrived I was able to call the hotel for their shuttle who was already there picking up other passengers which worked out more than perfect for me. No hassle of getting a rental car or paying for parking when it has already been a long and tiring day. The next morning I was able to walk to the rental car agency and get my North Shore adventures started early. Keep in mind the hotel is in the industrial part of the city and there is nothing of interest for a tourist close by. However, the rooms were recently updated and clean and the front desk and shuttle guy extremely courteous and helpful. While I would not base my entire vacation here I would definitely use them for those later night flights where airport convenience is paramount.

    « Best Western Plaza »

Good hotel for the our visit. The motel was convenient for our purpose and allowed us to be comfortable during our stay. The breakfast was excellent with good people to help. We had no problems here. The hotel is used for military people in transit as well.

« Friendly Helpful Staff, Room very clean »

The room was clean and large. The staff was amazing. Being that I would get back late from my day, parking really was scarce or people who parked would take over the next stall. Otherwise, overall all experience was fantastic!

    « Noisy, Untimely Shuttle »

We called and requested a shuttle upon landing. Three phone calls (25 min later), we were finally assured one was on the way (hotel is 1 mi away). Not a lot of noise control - lots of outside noise from interstate. We arrived shortly before 9 pm (half hour later due to shuttle), and the restaurant in the hotel closed at 9 pm. There is no room service, so we were out of luck for dinner after traveling all day.

    5
    « Excellent stop over »

Excellent stop over to make connection at air port. Very prompt shuttle. Staff was great and room very clean. Great just right mattress firmness. Restaurant was typical Honolulu spendy. I would highly recommend for long lay overs or just a simple day to find out where you want long Beach stay to be. It it not a beach hotel.

    5
« Great location, good price, great staff. »

Great place, location is great easy to catch the bus system, no need for a car but if you need one all of the car rental is right up the street. And the airport is right around the coner. No sure if they offer free breakfast would be nice, the only close place is McDonald's.

« Clean, comfortable, great value »

My family and I had a medical appointment and needed overnight lodging. This hotel was perfect! The room was very clean and modern. The room with two double beds was comfortable and enough room for two adults and two teenagers. The only draw back was the noise from traffic. We requested a room away from the freeway, which the staff pleasantly accommodated. Noise was okay until morning rush-hour traffic started, which was about 4:00 a.m. Other than that I would definitely stay here again!

    1
    « Awful. Just Awful. »

This place is horrid. You can't have a conversation outside because of the loud freeway traffic, the rooms are meager and recently they've gone into an emergency pool renovation which means going for a quick swim is out of the realm of possibilities. Furthermore, for all of the renovation, they're still charging full price, which means you get the luxury of hammering, sweeping, blowing, etc, etc for full price. Lovely. This place ranks among the worst places I've stayed. In fact, this place was SO bad, we relocated the next day. My advice, find another hotel. Period.

if you need to stay by the airport in Honolulu, then you should really stay at the Plaza Best Western Hotel. They've redone their rooms and hallways in a really nice way, it's all brand new, and the accommodations are just stellar. I give it 5 stars. all the people involved with the hotel, especially the front desk staff, are just really nice people, I highly recommend this hotel.

« Under renovation with temp military housing »

If you are looking to stay at the airport with the sound of planes taking off and landing and with the bonus of no pool and plenty of military being house at your vacation spot then this is a place for you. There is plenty of air conditioning so if you like to sleep cold this is a bonus the thermostat does not work so don't try and adjust the temp. I am sure this is a good hotel for some travelers that just need a place to drop the luggage and sleep after a busy day of playing somewhere else.

« Close to the airport but not a destination in itself »

Stayed here for one night on a layover to Guam. Its proximity to the airport makes it convenient for layovers, but it's kind of in the middle of nowhere so not really a place I'd want to be for more than just a night or two. Have stayed at the Airport Honolulu Hotel before, which it turns out is a "sister property". They're basically the same for all intents and purposes. They're only a couple blocks apart, they've got comparable amenities, and the rooms are about the same standards. It was a toss up between the two, and the only reason we went with this one was because we hadn't stayed here before. Upon arrival, we found out that the on-site restaurant is only open for dinner on Fridays through Mondays. For Tuesdays to Thursdays, you're expected to either take the complimentary shuttle over to the sister property or head over to the strip mall around the corner (with nothing but pizza and other fast food options). Had we known that we'd be shuttling over to the Airport Honolulu anyway, we would've just booked there instead. Perfectly adequate hotel otherwise For shuttle pickup, call the switchboard after you've picked up your baggage and head for the sign that says "tour groups". It can be a bit of a zoo if you arrive at the same time as a large group, but the shuttle drives by slowly.

« Bad Choice, No Benefits, Stay elsewhere »

I am one of their Diamond Members and was treated like a once a year traveler. Only 2 small elevators, terribly slow and crowded Room door had been kicked in slow check in & out pool closed bad value for the rates they charge Way over priced gift shop Too many more defieciencies

« Hi'ilani and Beau at the front desk »

Beau & Hi'ilani at the front desk were very friendly, kind & helpful when we needed a 3 night stay at the last minute. Our double queen room was spacious & clean. We had a refrigerator & microwave. The T. V. reception & Internet service were both excellent & fast. The pool was in a beautiful setting with shade. The gym has many windows with nice views while you're working out. The restaurant has a very large, delicious chef salad that makes a wonderful, filling, healthful meal for 2 people. The buses are convenient to Waikiki & other areas of Oahu. Senior price on the bus is only $1.00 each way & you can get a transfer if needed. (Bring your Medicare card)The bus drivers are very knowledgeable and told us where to get off for our stop. We stayed here twice in 45 days & would choose Best Western The Plaza Hotel, again. The 4 plus lane highway goes right past the hotel. We turned the climate control on Fan Only at night and did not hear the noise from the highway. You can walk one block to McDonalds or 3-4 blocks over to the small market for reasonably priced food items. The front desk people can direct you to the market.

« GOOD FOR OVERNIGHT STAY »

Older BW property adjacent to Honolulu International Airport. Complimentary 24 hour airport shuttle. Rooms are clean and beds provide a restful night's sleep. Very friendly management and staff with a great ALOHA Spirit. Rooms adjacent to freeway are quite noisy, but hotel provides earplugs. Swimming pool, cafe, and very good gift shop with lots of travel/food necessities. Guest laundry. Nothing fancy but good for a quick overnight stop when flying in and out of HNL.

    « Convenient and comfortable »

We stayed here since our flight was quite late arriving and we knew we'd be tired. The service was excellent, and the room was great. Just the highway was super noisy in the room even with all the windows closed. We enjoyed the pool (really lovely!) and breakfast (super-yummy) and it was conveniently close to the rental car location (walking distance). We were happy and would stay here again if we get the chance to come back.

    « Outstanding Service »

Without question FRAN at the front desk went out her way to make a miserable trip outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. She had a great welcoming personality, answering every question with sincere interest in making our stay great! If you go here, your lucky if you get to speak with her.

    « Friendly and clean »

Was great for us as we needed one night accommodation close to Honolulu airport. Free shuttle bus service to and from the airport. The room was quiet considering we were so close to the airport. We definitely would stay there again. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. Nice pool area.

    4
    « Excellent Staff & Service »

The staff went out of their way to make you feel important and cared for when the need presented itself. Ideal location and service to airport for departure. We enjoyed the swimming pool and leisure in the sun.

« Near Airport, Good For One Night Stay! »

We chose The Best Western Hotel as it was close to the Honolulu Airport and we needed a room for one night. The room was clean. It was very noisy, right beside major freeway & airport. Earplugs on night table for a reason. The restaurant in hotel is limited to certain days & early hours. We flew in from another island and it was difficult to find a restaurant other then McDonalds open after 9pm. They are missing the boat there! The hotel is very, very dated. Whoever decorated it, is surely dead. Best thing about it, the rooms are clean and the security guard very friendly. We asked for help finding a place to eat, he actually walked us through the courtyard & directed us to the only restaurants open.

    « Greatest experience!!!! »

During my military relocation here to Oahu, I was pleased to find a hotel that would accept my cat and golden retriever to stay. I'm coming up on 2 moths living in this hotel dealing with all the house hunting nightmares you can imagine, I had to extend my stay here multiple nights, on numerous occasions. The staff were always willing to accommodate. Especially Fran, the front desk receptionist. During the hotel renovation I had to move rooms and Fran help make that switch painless. Thank you, to all the staff in the hotel. This week should be my last here before I move into my house. Crossing my fingers!

    « Extremely Adequate -- Good Deal ! »

The room was kept clean. The Restaurant was delicious - especially the Huli Huli Chicken - Get it. Get it again! The room service was very good! I went out in the hall to ask one of the housekeepers for some extra coffee for my room, and the housekeeper was very pleasant and gave me plenty.

    « Good layover hotel »

I just stayed overnight on a layover. Hotel is efficient layover hotel. Airport shuttle comes every 30 minutes so was a long wait for pickup from airport. Room was basic but large. My hotel room overlooked an elevated expressway connecting airport and city. There is a fair bit of street noise but hotel provides earplugs.

    « GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE »

Easy check in! I requested a room near the elevator & it was granted :). Keep in mind that the rooms near the elevator is on the freeway side, so its not for light sleepers. The front desk is busy & they have to use a speaker to talk to the parking gate. Lots of work for these GSA's. I hope they get paid more for being parking attendants. Rose, Cecilia, Pam, & Athena are great mutli tasking, concierges, & parking attendants.

« Noisy from the wind and cars »

Our first impressions were made walking down the manky corridor to our room. The security guard on patrol gave a friendly 'hello' which was both comforting and alarming at the same time (I suspect there was a uniformed security guard on patrol because the elevators don't restrict members of the public from accessing any floor they like). The room was functional, but the noise of the wind whistling against the building was horrendous. I won't mention the noise of the freeway since we expected some noise due to its location. In any case, this isn't the place to get any sleep. There is a McDonald's around the corner if you get hungry. The shuttle operated as expected, but we were forewarned to get in line early or risk missing out. Good advice. I would not stay here again.

« Quick trip to Honolulu »

Needed a place near the airport and this is the perfect selection. Shuttle service was quick and the entire staff (drivers, front desk staff, housekeeping and restaurant staff) are all very nice and courteous!

Thanks to Mena, Beau, Fran, and Sharon. Helpful, Pleasant, and Friendly. They always make sure you are comfortable and welcomed. The reason I stay at this hotel is because the folks that work there are helpful, polite, and pleasant.

« Great for a long term stay. »

Stayed for 8 weeks as wife was in hospital. Staff was very cooperative. The house keeper did an outstanding job. Left requests that she always completed. Sent out laundry weekly with excellent results. Shuttle pickup at airport worked really well. Shuttle drivers were excellent. Front desk staff helped me with every request. . Restaurant did a good job. Would recommend for a long term stay.

« Failed to Honor Confirmed Booking Price »

I was stranded at Honolulu airport by a UA flight delay on Nov 5 and was given a confirmed distress booking price of $149. The hotel failed to honor the confirmed price and tacked on taxes and fees to a total of $169.80 on checkout. I complained to the front desk clerk and she told me that she had no authority to change and will speak to the manager on my behalf. I left my email but never heard from them. Since I did not refund nor any notification, I assume that either the manager did not agree to honor the confirmed price or the clerk failed to notify the manager. The other downside of the hotel: 1. Quite noisy as it is near the highway and airport. 2. Wifi is kinda slow. 3. No bottled water supplied. 4. No breakfast Airport shuttle was ok.

    4
    « Excellent Economy Hotel »

I am in Honolulu on business and this hotel is one of few that are within the government approved rate. I am staying for 5 nights. The accommodations were comfortable and the location was excellent. The free shuttle to the hotel was appreciated. The courtesy and professionalism of Fran at the front desk was admirable. She took the time to properly check me in and went above and beyond to ensure I was well informed. Great staff and the accommodations were commensurate with the price. Cons: Highway noise, dated Pros: Staff, Location, Pricing

    « Good airport hotel »

Clean and tidy and always efficient at check in and out.....shuttle always on call to pick up from airport. A great transit choice. Also within walking distance to Pearl harbour (if a decent walker). Always first choice if wish to stay close to airport. only downside was on this stay my air conditioner was very loud! - but hey first world problem right!! ;)

    2
    « Very Average Hotel »

I reserved a room at this hotel due to its proximity to Pearl Harbor. Next time I will stay closer to Waikiki even with the traffic. First, upon arriving I contacted the hotel for its shuttle pick up. A half hour later I was still waiting despite the fact the hotel being 5 minutes from the airport. I had to call a second time to request it. Frankly, I found the personnel to be unfriendly, at least based on what I would expect from professionals in the hospitality industry. While the front desk staff were able to respond to questions, there were no greetings or expressions of appreciation for being a guest. Lastly, the carpeting in the hallways were filthy and didn't look like they had been cleaned in years. The name Best Western is a misnomer. It should be called the "Worst" Western.

    4
« Great place to stay for overnight! »

We had to come here from the Big Island for a medical procedure and needed to stay close to Pali Momi. I requested a room in a quiet part of the hotel and was given it. The room was clean and comfortable and there was a note from the housekeeper Amah's which said to contact her if we needed anything. There is a small store in the lobby which carries items you may have forgotten and it is reasonably priced. There is also a restaurant that serves breakfast daily and dinner on the weekend. The food was very good. All in all, our needs were sufficiently met !

    4
    « Great Service »

I would like to thank Sharon and Fran at the front desk for being so helpful during my stay! I stayed for an extended period of time and they were helpful in getting me the best rate. They also were very friendly when I had questions. Thank you, I'll be back. Room 612

    « 2-week stay at the Plaza »

Our stay has been very pleasant. The staff greeted us with a warm smile and friendly attitude. The room service was excellent and our room attendant Mercy has been nothing but fantastic with her bubbly personality, always full of energy in making sure our room was clean and equipped with everything. I highly commend her and the services she has provided-such a great person to converse with.

« Great for Military temporary living. »

I was PCSing into Hickam AFB and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It was very convenient with the option of a meal voucher or parking pass every day. They really have their military TLA program figured out. The pool is nice, and the resturaunt, although spendy, is definitely worth it if you have the meal vouchers. Overall I would reccomend this or the Honolulu Airport Hotel to anyone who needs a temporary place while PCS as it is very Hickam and Pearl Harbor as well.

Fran from hotel staff was very helpful and nice she took care of us alot and seen that we had the best stay possible. When i come back um choosing this place no doubt.

« Could use more friendliness »

I stopped at this hotel to and from Sydney, to break the long flights. It was expensive for a Best Western hotel, but I wanted the convenience, which I did get. But just as I dreaded, getting picked up at the airport by the hotel's shuttle was easier said than done. As others suggested, I called the hotel upon my arrival, but the lack of signage at the airport for a well defined pick-up point made it difficult -- the shuttle just zoomed by and it was not easy to spot the van, especially for someone who just stumbled out of the Baggage Claim area in a strange airport, at night. On the other hand, catching a shuttle from the hotel to the airport was no problem , as it did leave on-time every 30 minutes. The hotel itself is dated. The air control was iffy and the air flow was harsh. The shower head was sub-par. But I was thankful for a clean place to rest overnight, and the Internet (unsecured) connection worked well . On my return visit, I did get an early check-in (without charge) when I arrived around noon, but the desk clerk made it clear that it was a privilege for which I should be thankful. (I checked out at 5:30 AM the next day.) You can catch a bus going in town at a stop a short walk from the front of the hotel. Coming back by bus, the stop is on the other side of the street and you do have to cross a busy highway to get back to the hotel. There is a 24/7 McDonald's a short walk from the hotel, and a small strip mall nearby with some eateries. $2 for a small bottle of water from the vending machines in the hotel-- you are better off buying it from McDonald's. There is a small shop downstairs, but also expensive. One bright spot: I had a fantastic omelette at the hotel's restaurant.

Sharon on the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She gave me advice about their loyalty program and then signed me up personally. She also gave me some additional information that made the stay even nicer. It's nice to find people like that who seem to love their job . Thanks

there were rubbish underneath the bed from the first day I stayed up until I left...that tells me that they don't clean good....even trash by the night table. They weren't my trash, but left from the previous visitors.

« Professional staff and soft beds »

This is the ideal hotel if you want to be close to the airport. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and again great location. As others have mentioned, attempt to get an airport view side room, as the roadside rooms are slightly noisy. Great stay, would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you to the staff members: Michael, Mena, Beau, and the super cool shuttle driver!

    « Great customer service! »

Before coming here I received mixed reviews about this hotel. I decided to wait until I got here to be my own judge. Even though this hotel is very close to the airport and highway it is pretty quiet for the most part. My room was very clean and my house keeper Mercy was simply amazing throughout our entire stay. The hotel has a convenient store on the main floor that is decently priced and has most of the amenities you may need while staying there for a long time. The hotel manager and his colleague Ms. Beau were outstanding. I can't thank them enough for helping my husband and I with our military stay arrangements and making sure we weren't being bullied into something else at another hotel on post. I would say if you are PCSing to Hawaii from another duty station be advised of all the financial details required of you before moving here.

« An Excellent Airport Hotel. »

I stopped here twice on my recent trip. The first night we had a room beside the Motorway.... only good if you want an early wake up call next morning !! Second night my room looked out onto the airport runway, and it was a great view, and quiet. Rooms are big, clean, cool, and the beds are very comfortable. The elevators work well. The Staff are very friendly and helpful. Free shuttles to and from the Airport, and to the sister hotel every half hour. Lots of hot water for the bath. Coffee maker worked. I will definitely stay here again.

    2
    « Just Poor »

Needed a stopover hotel between a flight from Kona and a very early morning check in at the airport. Paid €175 room only (approx $196 at time of booking) on the internet. So, what did we get for the money? First off they have a shuttle bus which runs to and from the airport every half hour BUT they only pick up on request by phone, either cell phone or phones in baggage claim area. Had to wait 25 minutes for pick up. The decor in the hotel is a drab yellow and totally uninviting. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and the staff on reception polite and friendly. An hotel of this size should have a restaurant. It does but only on the weekend and Monday. To eat you on other days there is fast food a block away or you can take the shuttle bus which will drop you at a sister hotel where you can eat and charge the bill to your room. You are tied, of course, to the shuttle bus schedule. To return to your hotel you have to wait for that hotel's shuttle bus to take you back. This arrangement is annoyingly inconvenient, obviously done to cut costs and not for the convenience of the customer. Our room was on the eighth floor, level with the flyover on the Nimitz Highway and the windows are not double glazed so the noise level was high at all times. Whilst the hotel is very expensive for what it offers, there is no real choice on the airport and taking a shuttle to Waikiki hotels, which can be cheaper, brings the cost back up as well as the extra travel time.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Our flight was cancelled and had been booked to stay for 2 nights before our flight out. We had been at Best Westerns that did not make the cut, so was a bit apprehensive. The room was as good as it could be for this level, but what really surprised us was the restaurant. The food and service was great, considering that they were overwhelmed with many other passengers from our cancelled flight. The staff were pleasant and when the food finally arrived, it was nicely presented and tasty. We also had to have dinner there and the food was not expected to be as good as it was. Koodo to the owners for caring about the clients and providing a pleasant experience. The only drawback is that it was near the airport and highway, so a bit noisy and nothing nearby to see.

The service here is outstanding. Workers are very friendly and professional. Housekeeper named Mercy is great. I will highly recommend this hotel to friends. Thank you so much.

    « Pack your earplugs! »

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the room was fine. We booked a night here because we wanted to go to Pearl Harbor during our overnight layover on Oahu, and this hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and about 10 minutes from Pearl Harbor. The hotel checked our luggage while we visited PH and arranged for our taxi. The hotel has a free shuttle to/from the airport. The pool area was very pleasant, with palm trees and other flowering plants. The downside is that the hotel is situated right next to the Nimitz highway, so there is constant traffic noise at the outdoor pool. Unfortunately, the traffic noise is also heard indoors. Our room was on an upper floor, but we could still hear the traffic at all hours. If you are a light sleeper, wear ear plugs or avoid this hotel.

    « Perfect Airport Location »

I needed a hotel with a shuttle to and from the Honolulu airport and this one was perfect! They are very close to the airport, and their staff were ALL very helpful and friendly. I think my bed there was the most comfortable one I've slept in! The sheets and pillows were top quality. Everything was clean and nice. An added bonus was my rental car agency just down the block!

    « Amazing experience! »

We had the best experience staying at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. Les, the military liaison was extremely helpful getting us set up during our move, making sure everything worked with our orders. Our room attendant Madeline was so sweet and made sure we had every thing we needed each morning. Thank you Les and Madeline for making our experience extra special!

« Very convenient - brief shuttle from airport »

We needed one night in a hotel near the airport to catch an early morning flight. This was extremely convenient. They have a free and fast airport shuttle. The hotel itself wasn't fancy but our room was clean and quiet. Just what we needed after many hours on a flight to Honolulu. I don't think I would stay here for a vacation because it is located under a highway but it met our needs and we would stay here again if needed for one night.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

If you are military you should definitely stay here if you are looking for a place to stay. They have the best rate for your TLA. All the staff was very friendly. The food in the restaurant was good. There's an amazing pizza place across the street and there is a McDonalds too. I stayed here for 60 days and I don't really have any complaints. Our dog got out of Quarantine half way through our stay and they had no problem putting us in a pet friendly room. Fran was my favorite! She helped me with all my TLA paperwork and with my check in and check out. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Far beyond expectations... »

Free shuttle from airport, quick check in, pleasant staff, clean room, great corner room view, quiet night of sleep, quick check out, immediate shuttle to airport--just what we needed in a one-night layover in Honolulu. Biggest surprise? Terrific, terrific dining room experience. Staff was excellent and could be working in finest restaurants in Honolulu. Attentive, knowledgeable, and caring with all diners, including big families. Food? Absolutely excellent home cooking. Variety on menu and each dish seemed to please diners around the room. Comfort food was terrific after ten days of fancy meals. Again, staff was perfect.

« The Best Choice at the Airport »

Immediate free shuttle pick up, swift and professional check in, a comfortable and functional room, fine breakfast options, and an easy return to the airport. This is just what we needed, after arriving late at night after a long flight, and then departing to another island the next morning. We will always stay here, when connecting through HNL overnight, or staying over for a couple of nights. Waikiki is accessible by city bus, but only if you want that experience. If you would prefer peace and quiet, just stay here. A fine place!

« Ok but not the best »

It was ok. The pool was nice but the WiFi was a little slow. The room was really small. The food was ok not good, but not bad. What I was impressed the most about was the Airport Shuttle. It was really fast and I was able to get to the airport on time.

    4
« No Food No Air »

Could not get breakfast on the first morning because of an out going cruise. Air conditioning did not keep the room cool. Parking spaces are very tight. The staff was really nice. Fitness center needs some updates; treadmills were out of order.

    4
« Nice hotel for the price »

We chose this hotel for its price and proximity to the airport. While there was some highway and aircraft noise, it didn't disturb our sleep. It was definitely adequate for our needs. We had requested a room with two queen beds, but were given a room with one king bed. That error was quickly resolved. The concierge suggested an excellent seafood restaurant that was nearby. In fact, that was one of our best meals on the trip. The check-in/check-out staff could have been friendlier, though.

    « Pleasant Stay »

The rooms are very comfortable. Beau, Mena, Madeline and entire staff was pleasant. They consistently went above and beyond their principle duties to ensure all of their clients had nice experiences at the hotel. The military liaison, Les, is absolutely great in making the military service members transition in and out of Hawaii a smooth experience. I'd choose this hotel again, and again, and again.

« It's Hawaii....how could it be anything but good? »

The rooms are nice. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and there is a little shop on the lobby level floor. And it's Hawaii! Mercy in housekeeping is cheerful and does an excellent job!

« Great service, restaurant ok »

So we've been here for about 2 weeks and it's been a great experience (especially with two toddlers). Service and amenities are really great (there's cribs!). Housekeeping staff is on point! Our regular housekeeper Mercy is alway quick and detailed. However, the restaurant downstairs has been better. The pasta dishes are the best part, but burgers and sandwiches a bit soggy for my liking.

    « Working trip »

This hotel is only about 3 minutes from the airport, but you don't have the airport noise. The room was clean and everything worked. It is about a minute from H1 and a 20 minute drive to the beaches. A great place if you want a quieter hotel without all the hubbub.

Hotel has good staff and rooms are airy and clean. « 28 Days in Honolulu »

My trip started with a call to Les the military liaison. Very efficient, had my reservation setup in seconds. Upon arrival the staff greeted me like their family member coming in for a visit. Athena, Beau and Fran gave outstanding service with big smile each time I need assitance. My stay was extended twice which required portfolo adjustments. No problem, accommodation where made in only a couple of minutes. Norma T. kept my room extremely clean and tidy. She knew my work schedule and insured the room was in immaculate condition upon my return. All supplies were freshly stocked and I could rest undisturbed. This is not my first stay nor my last with the great folks a The Plaza. Thank you all.

« Best Western The Plaza »

Looked great in the advertising but upon arrival a different story. The hotel has attempted to keep up with the times, bedrooms were great but the airport and its extended businesses have taken over the area. At one time it was a fantastic hotel by the side of Nimitz Highway but has since had a freeway constructed in front. The overhead freeway provides shelter for several transients who frequent the Hotel shop for alcohol. I was there for business in Wahiawa so this was the closest I could get. All the customers appear to be military personnel transitioning in or out of the several facilities nearby. Staff were great and really friendly. Hate to bring the place down but their location does it for them. I was on a rear facing room overlooking the airport and never really noticed noise from aircraft, but I am sure the customers at the front didn't enjoy the constant traffic. Parking was $30 a night but they reduce it to $15 if you sign up for a Best Western rewards card. I could have stayed cheaper in Waikiki.

« Best Room Attendant EVER »

Stayed here for 3 weeks on a business trip, and the best experience for me was the service of the room attendant that was assigned to my room, Amalia. Always kept my room clean, and well stocked daily!

« GREAT STAFF AND HOSEKEEPERS »

After missing a flight to Sfo not knowing its 1 flight a day we were bummed, mad and tired. We had option of staying at the airport until 1pm and its 2pm previous day so we said screw closer the better but price wasn't within the budget but after consideration and debate we decided here and thank god we did. Not the usual hussel and bussel in waikiki and staff here more attentive, friendly, CARING, and close to airport. On our way to room lovely MERCY OR MARCY was cleaning a room on our way out of elevator but could probably hear my moaning and ranting about Hawaiian Airlines to my fiance so she asked if there were any particular needs or help with anything that we needed. Thank God for that cuz I needed a breath of fresh air haha. Anyways glad we stayed here for the night. Staff is EXTREMELY friendly helpful and kind. Just what I needed on a bad Day. Thanks Guys.

« Basic hotel, good Best Western standard »

Check in staff was very friendly. Room - yes, a little noisy since it's right by the freeway. Basic room - but meet the good Best Western standard. Right next to a McDonald's, walking distance to a strip mall that has some very good price meals - Ninja Sushi, Korean BBQ. Not exactly in a tourist location - it's in an industrial area. Free parking is very nice. Yet during our 2-night stay there our validated parking didn't work for 4 times! It was a hassle to call the front desk at the gate every time we tried to leave.

    « GOOD FOR A LAYOVER! »

Spent one night here on the way to Guam. Very friendly staff and basic rooms. McDonald;s next door (no restaurant) but a well stocked store in the lobby with sandwiches and drinks. They have a sister hotel that they shuttle folks to for dinner a few nights per week. Free pick up for the airport though. Shuttle left every half hour. Housekeeper named "Annie" very friendly.

    « Close to airport »

It was conveniently located close to our car rental place and the airport. It was clean and offered a nice breakfast in the morning. We didn't use the pool because cause we got there late but there was plenty of parking available.

« Nice place amazing customer service »

My overall experience was very positive, it's a centrally located hotel getting in and out was very easy; my housekeeper Amalia is awesome I give her a 10 out of 10. I'm looking forward to comeback in the near future. A thousand thanks!! Keep the good job from now on you can count with a new guest

    « Clean and inviting »

Our US Army Hospital unit had set up all the soldiers here at the Best Western on Nimitz. The rooms we're clean and decent size for 2 ppl. They offered free parking for any hotel guest which was great. The outdoor pool area was a nice retreat after work. Mahalo to our room attendant Annie, we always had fresh towels, our beds made up perfect, and a nice clean room every afternoon when we would return from work. It was a pleasurable experience. Mahalo for the hookipa! Aloha

« Easy In Easy Out »

Enterprise rental car is walking distance and you can leave you key in the lobby drop box when you take the hotel shuttle to the airport. There is a restaurant in the hotel but my wife and I simply stocked the fridge and used the microwave to save bucks.

    « Sleepless Night in »

I would go back there " if they made the rooms sound proof." The sound from the HWY kept us awake most of the night. The shower rose needs replacing. as do the pillows. Good bed thou. Good location, close to the airport.

    « Excellent customer service »

My family and I stayed at this hotel for over 40 days. The room was very comfortable and clean. I really liked the hotel staff. Very customer oriented. The front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly. The bellhop was extremely helpful and always kept a smile on his face. I especially liked my housekeeper Amalia. Amalia always provided amazing service. She always helped us with anything we needed to know about the hotel and island. My kids loved her and would give her a hug every time they see her. Continue providing the good quality excellent service.

« Excellent Communication and Help »

Firstly I wish to convey my immense gratitude to Reid, Front Office Manager, for exceptionally fast replies to all my emails which helped me very much. Many thanks to all other staff especially Beau (front desk). I stayed twice during my trip and both rooms were very clean and comfortable which is important to me. I like the mural on the ceiling in the foyer. It adds to a relaxing, as well as professional atmosphere upon arrival. There was a phone with a direct line to the hotel for the shuttle at the International Airport arrival terminal, (on the left along with all the other phones after walking out with my luggage), which also helped as I was not making or receiving calls with my cell. I highly recommend this hotel.

    « PCS TO HAWAII »

My 49 days at this hotel was great. The air conditioning is super cold, u can leave your food out of the fridge and it wont go bad. One of our highlight of the stay was the people at the hotel were so friendly. But my our number one or top employee was Ms. Amalia our housekeeper. She is a super star. She was very passionate about her job and gave the highest quality of service at all time. Both my wife and me work at the Frenchman's reef Marriott in the US Virgin Islands St. Thomas for 5yrs before I join the navy and we have to say that Ms. Amalia stands out above all at the Best Western plaza. Her skills and services is up there with the best of the best. Bravo Zulu. You made our stay enjoyable.

    « Awesome time »

The hotel is located right next to the airport. It's a busy hotel but a very nice one. The staff is very friendly, kind and helpful and we really felt welcomed. Our stay was a week long and Madeline really helped us out. She had wonderful suggestions that really helped us out. I can't thank her enough for making us feel welcomed.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our housekeeping lady Annie! She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed in our room. She introduced herself on our first day at the hotel and got to know us on a personal level throughout our 3 weeks stay. She was so sweet! Thank you Annie!

« Very friendly and helpful staff »

I was very impressed by the genuine politeness and helpfulness of the staff. Amalia and Gina-- housekeeper and manager housekeeper were very good at keeping my room clean. They were very polite and genuine. I would stay here again. The hotel is coneniently located bt the airport, but I never heard the airplanes. There is some Freeway noise, but minimal. Honolulu is about 8-10 miles down the road.

    « Great Hospitality »

I had an extended stay here and Amalia ensured my room was nice and clean everyday. She was always pleasant during our interactions. Also, Sharon at the front desk was very helpful as well. I would stay here again.

    « Safe. Clean & Convenient »

You can expect a very nice reception from the free airport shuttle service to the check in staff, restaurant staff and the guests that are primarily military--most of whom give you a sense of security because they are coming and going at all times. Room was exceptionally cleaned and restocked daily. Maids are very good. Air conditioning was super and I could have stored meat outside the fridge!

« Friendly service but Dated hotel »

I so wish I could give this hotel a better rating because everyone who I have been helped by or those who work in this hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. They really have an awesome staff. My low rating is really because of the dated hotel along with the price you pay. I've stayed at many best westerns and have loved all of them except this one. It is not because it's not clean because the hotel is actually really clean. It's because it's dated and looks a little run down. Seems like with the amount of money that is made, they could do some renovations. Most hotels here in Hawaii are expensive but many of them ( especially downtown are renovated and look great and around the same price) The other downfall is the bed situation. The beds are full size beds ( not queens) they do have king size beds but with no pull our sleeper sofa option. My husband lift weights and is built with broad shoulders and big arms. It's so hard sleeping in a tiny full size bed comfortably. We couldn't get king size bedroom bc there was no additional sleeping arrangements for my kids unless we purchased another room that conjoined ours. . At 230+ a night that was out of the question. The rooms are a decent size and being that the hotel is about a block from the airport the noise level is low and I can barely hear them of any at all. Bathrooms are a little small but manageable. Parking is insane here and very tight but that is the norm for this area. Food: the restaurant in the hotel is decent. I like the breakfast and have tried many of the menu options. Dinner is good depending on what is ordered. Now for military personnel this hotel has a wonderful liaison that has put together an awesome program and package for military. They offer things that no other hotel will do for military and their families. I would consider coming back to this hotel bc of the staff. If renovations were made I would 100% come back and stay with this best western.

« Close to Keehi Lagoon »

There are not too many hotels in this area. It is close to Keehi Lagoon where we had a Championship Event. It is close enough to walk to. They have an airport shuttle also which is nice. Room was very large. It was great that you couldn't hear any traffic noise. It's located between the airport and the freeway

    « So far so good ?? »

Everything has been amazing! We arrived 8/2 and every accommodation has been met! Fran Beau has been so helpful since the day we stepped foot in the hotel. She has been able to answer every question and give amazing advice seeing as how we have PCSd here and didn't know everything we needed to (thanks army ??). We love having breakfast here every morning, Michael is usually our server and we LOVE him! He remembers the little things down to the amount of creamer I enjoy in the mornings w my coffee ?? I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone especially pcsing w the military.

« Enjoyed the stay but are looking forward into moving into a home. »

We are here because of my hubbies job. The restaurant is good, with very good servers, but after a couple of weeks the dinner or breakfast gets old. It would be nice if there was some kind of buffet that changes every night(like one night Hawaiian, the next Asian, the Italian and so on) so you can pick and choose what you would like to eat. We did have wonderful Housekeeping service. Her name is Annie and she was always really nice to us and our kiddos and made us feel welcome. The location was great. Really close to the airport, you can basically walk there but unfortunately that also includes some noise. Having the interstate go right by the hotel is a minus too since it is noisy all night long. Some rental car agencies are within walking distance in case you need a car. Public bus transportation is available too with a bus stop right outside the hotel.

    « Great! »

Stayed here for 3 weeks for training. Clean rooms and great room service! Recommend for everybody. The only downside is that they charge $15 a day for parking. Other than that, my experience here was excellent. A nice pool outside and a little gym on the 12th floor.

    3
    « Great Airport Location »

The location of the hotel is only a few blocks away with a free shuttle. The price of the hotel is comparable to other hotels on the Island which is in the above $200 price range. You are paying for the location here, same amenities elsewhere would probably only cost you a fraction of the cost. Also, parking is available for $30 a night. Warning: parking is tight! There also times that they are full, but they allow you to park on the sides of the ramp when it's full, just make sure do not forget to put your parking pass on your dash board so you don't get towed.

« Overnite wait for flight to RMI »

I've found this BW to be very convenient when catching the early morning flight to RMI. There's a 24 hour shuttle service, a restaurant that is open several nights a week, and it's close to a NEX small store within walking distance. It's best to get a room towards the back of the BW if you don't like freeway noise.

    « Wonderful accommodations! »

*We are military and currently staying here for 11 nights.* Our pleasant experience began the minute we walked through the lobby entryway. We were greeted by cordial, affable receptionists who were able to efficiently check us in. Make sure to be a Best Western rewards member-- the points add up! From the front desk, a welcoming bell-hop was able to help us into our room with our heavy loads of luggage-- don't forget to tip! I've heard of the hotel offering a promissory note to military using TLA, but this is not the case for outbound families as we are. We were told that is only available for inbound. Either way, it wasn't a big deal. We paid upfront for all 11 nights and are able to pick up the receipt early, showing a zero balance, to take back to our command to begin the reimbursement process. We were given $30 ($10/person) in meal ticket vouchers for the cafe per day. Four nights a week, meals are offered here in the downstairs of this hotel. On Tuesday-Thursday, it is served at their sister hotel down the road. A free shuttle offers transportation and leaves from the lobby every 30 minutes. Breakfast and dinner are served daily-- no lunch. It's casual, sit-down dining and I'd say the average meal costs about $13 or so. You can order as cheap or as pricey as you want. You will be left to pay the remaining difference as well as tip. The portions are very generous and taste about average. My favorite so far has been the spaghetti bolognese and my husband's is the fettuccine chicken alfredo; both are served with garlic toast. There is a mini-mart located downstairs next to the lobby as well selling anything from souvenir T's to ice cream sandwiches. We are in a deluxe King, corner-room suite. The bed isn't our Tempur-pedic, but very comfortable, none the less, and the bedding is very soft. The AC works great for those coming from AC-less housing in town like us! Our room features large windows with views of the airport, Diamond Head, and the ocean in the far distance. Our room is the biggest I've ever stayed in... it's HUGE. Even with 3 large suitcases sprawled out and many other bags, we still have plenty of room to walk around and for my 6 month old to crawl and play. We also have a microwave, mini fridge, cable TV, dresser drawers, cabinet space, and the bathroom is a decent size; featuring a large vanity, and bathtub with shower head. The housekeeping staff has been helpful, attentive, and always very accommodating to our needs. Mercy and Emerita have been taking care of us and are exceptional! Anytime we need extra towels or trash taken care of (so many diapers with an infant), they are there to immediately meet our needs in the friendliest way possible. They were also able to provide a crib in our room upon time of arrival. Parking in the garage is free, just bring in your ticket to the lobby for validation. Also, the free wifi is great and has given us zero problems. Connecting is simple and you're allowed up to 4 devices. There are USB charging ports built right into the table, which is wonderfully convenient. Side note, we don't personally have pets, but I do know they are allowed! Another perk, is the pool! It's never crowded and there's towels poolside as well as tables and loungechairs. The hotel's location isn't bad either. It's not in the middle of Waikiki's hustle and bustle and close enough to basically anywhere you'd like to go. Very convenient Honolulu location. Less than 10 minutes to Pearl Harbor. As far as nearby food, there is a Micky D's within walking distance as well as a Starbucks like 3 minutes away. Next to Starbucks is Blimpie's subs, Ninja Sushi (order the Superman roll!), and Big Kahuna's (the BEST garlic cheese balls, everything is made to order)-- and cash only, ATM located outside! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. It may not be a resort, but I don't think anyone coming here is expecting that. For what's it's worth, our stay has already exceeded our expectations. If we are ever stationed here on island again, we will certainly be making a second visit to the Best Western Plaza Hotel.

« convenient for onward travel »

traveling from oz to mainland USA we paid for 2 nights so our room would be available on arrival at 8am to break up the journey. The hotel is convenient to the airport, the room was adequate and clean. They have a sister hotel 2 blocks away but no lunch was available at either hotel.. They didn't have their restaurant open on a Thursday so sister hotel we went, typical American cuisine, very family friendly and the food was typical budget eating. There is no bar in either hotel. Not an enjoyable stay and on our return to Oz we will spend more time in Waikiki.

« Best spot for TLA with dogs »

I'm giving this hotel an overall four stars, but if you are traveling on a military relocation with TLA and have pets, it's five stars all the way. No, it's not a resort, but you aren't on vacation, you are trying to find a place to live and get out of there. McDonald's is right behind the hotel, and although I am personally not a fan, I can see how this would be very convenient for many families. Also walk-able are a Starbucks, jamba juice, ninja sushi and some other quick lunch type places. The restaurant in the hotel is good. Nothing crazy, but you can get a good solid meal here. You can easily score an uber or lyft to take you anywhere in town that you would like to go. It cost us about $15 to get into Waikiki and enjoy all the perks of the Hale Koa and other resorts. Here is a tip, in order to use the "resort" at Hale Koa, all you need is a military ID. I believe you can also park for free with your military ID. So if you are feeling deprived of the resort experience, just head on over there and enjoy the pools, beach, etc. The best thing is that this hotel actually caters to you as a family on TLA. You will book through Les, who is the military coordinator. He is passionate about providing a good experience for those of us who have just completed an overseas move. The rate you will be charged is calculated so that including tax it will total the TLA rate. No extra out of pocket. Additionally, parking fees and pet fees are waived. Parking is meant to be $30/night and pets $30/night per pet. The waiving of these fees saved my family $90/night. The pet policy for military is literally any pet up to 500lbs. We had our two larger dogs and it was comfortable. If you have pets, you will stay in the courtyard which is well appointed with grassy areas and poop-bag stands. The only downside to this is that there is no elevator for those staying on the second floor. It was an extra challenge to get all of our stuff in, but you make it work. If you don't have pets, you stay in the main tower and I believe you get other perks like meal vouchers to use at the restaurant. We had to attend a one hour meeting explaining all of this, which was kind of a drag, but there was free pizza and it was worth it to keep all of the perks (free parking etc). During the meeting I learned that the hotel will even give you a "promissory note" if you can not afford to pay out of pocket before being reimbursed TLA. I feel like this could be a big deal to some families, and is unheard of in this day and age at any other place. Additionally, the staff here is SUPER nice and accommodating. Always smiling and kind. The gym is decent. There were two treadmills, but one was broken during our stay. Also a universal gym, free weights, an elliptical, stationary bike, and medicine balls. It worked for me and I never had to wait for the one treadmill that was working. The view is pretty cool as the gym is on the top floor. They also have a little convenience store that has any basic items you might need. Also, free wifi, small coffee pot, mini fridge and microwave in the room.

« Good for Business Traveler »

Nice hotel with attentive staff. Rooms had microwave and fridge. Excellent internet access. Close to airport for trips to other islands. The complimentary shuttle was nice. It runs every 30 minutes 24 hours a day. When calling for a pickup at the airport never had to wait longer than 10 minutes.

    « Convenient location »

Just 2 miles from the airport, with free shuttle, this hotel is excellent for stopover for tourists hopping over to other islands. We were assigned 2 connecting rooms even tho I had neglected to ask for this feature. The reservation manager is very considerate., much appreciated by our family of 7 in 3 generation. The rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable, wi-fi works well. The rooms are not large, but adequate, one should not expect large rooms, because this is not a resort hotel, nor did I book a presidential suite. We are very happy with the arrangement. Only problem is, breakfast is not included, which I thought all Best Western hotel chains are. Now I know. Also, parking is $30 a day.

« Good for business travelers. »

Excellent service, nice amenities (workout room with dumbells, pool, laundry, comp paper, fridge and micro in room). A little worn (carpet and doors). But excellent service. Grace who took care of the room did an excellent job, Mena and Fran at the front desk were on the spot and competent. Harold the shuttle driver was helpful and pleasant. Very good for business travelers. Away from the noise of Waikiki and close to the airport. During my 4 week stay I traveled to other islands 2X/week. The shuttle was very efficient and on time. Also the hotel has parking, which is a problem throughout Honolulu.

    « Fantastic Service! »

My family arrived in Hawaii just a week ago and it has been non stop moving. We are so thankful for the helpful and attentive staff at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel. The staff is extremely knowledgable and helped make it easy for us to maneuver around especially without a vehicle. Our housekeeper/hospitality attendant, Mercy, is FABULOUS! She has made our stay here very comfortable. Although, I know she has many rooms to attend it's as if she takes a personal interest in making sure everything is just right and especially clean. Especially thank you Les- the military liaison and Mercy- housekeeping.

Our room attendant, Amalia, went out of her way each day to make us feel welcome! She greeted us cheerfully each day, the room was spotless, and we felt like we were truly being taken care of during our two week stay. Having been in business for 30 years, I can tell you that Amalia is the kind of employee you want on your team. She makes every guest (including my wife and me) feel welcome and appreciated. Thanks Amalia Mario Marcozzi and Lynn Cheddar July 17, 2016

    « Most helpful staff!!! »

Arriving exhausted in the late evening with very limited options for food and drink we were so very pleased at the helpfulness of the staff. They offered many near by options and even took my boyfriend via shuttle to pick up our order. The following morning they facilitated our visit to the Arizona memorial and allowed us to have a late checkout. It was so nice to be able to return to our room and clean up before getting on a plane again. Kudos to Chris and Athena for all you did!

« Our trip to Hawaii and stay at Best Western: »

My husband and I took this trip because he had tech school for Chevy. I came a long because I had not ever been to Hawaii. The one thing I learned very quick is people in Hawaii are so very nice. Annie our room attendant was amazing. She came in the first day to take care of my room and I was so completely impressed. I was eating the best pineapple on the planet. Annie showed me on a map where I could go and see my pineapple grow. Pointed out all the must sees for my husband and I to go see. We are here a short time and trying to get as much as we can in. So very helpful took her time to show me around the island from our hotel. Best western you are very lucky to have such a great employee. I thank her for taking such great care of us on our very short stay. Mahalo!!

I would like to say Thank you to my 10th-floor housekeepers Annie and Fely. They were attentive, made our stay very welcoming, they provided great service and made our room look good every day. « Hawaii presentation »

The staff was pleasant and helpful. The maids were fantastic. Like all things in Hawaii, the food was expensive. The breakfasts are not for free like in most of the Best Western Hotels. However, the food was good and plentiful. This hotel has an evening meal but not on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights (which is when I was there). They did provide a free shuttle to another hotel where there was dinner available on those nights (just a few blocks away). The one dinner I had there was very good and not too expensive. Overall I found the hotel to be very relaxing and comfortable with plenty of business amenities.

« One of the nicest »

This has got to be one of the best airport hotels I have ever stayed at. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was awesome. The sheets were high end. The location is optimum. Will stay here again.

    « Good airport hotel »

This hotel is clean and well-managed. It is very close to the airport. There was a a McDonald's next door, and several restaurants close by. Parking is not free, but they allow in and out at a daily rate. The property is adjacent to an elevated highway, so ask for a room on the opposite side. There is a huge sound difference. Our friends' room on the highway side was noisy all night, while ours was very quiet. The staff is quite friendly and allowed us a 1 pm late checkout at no extra charge.

« Very nice hotel close to the airport »

I was booked here for business. It is basically at the airport on H1! The hotel has been updated and the facilities are quite nice. The have an outdoor pool and a parking garage if needed, that is secure. There is a restaurant in the hotel that operates for breakfast and some days for dinner. The sister property one block away has a restaurant that operates the other days for dinner. The staff is really great and they bent over backwards to accommodate everyone! This hotel gets a lot of military personnel and the hotel staff is very understanding and helpful! The rooms are quite large and comfortable. They include a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. They even provide ear plugs incase the highway noise bothers you!

    « Airport Hotel »

The employees here do everything possible to please their guests. We had quite a rough start but because of the calm and caring efforts of the employees, the bump in the road eventually got worked out. The room was clean and, despite some major disrepair and wear and tear throughout the room and bathroom, it was nothing so disgusting that it would scare someone away. However, don't expect anything about the room or facility to be in the modern or appealing décor. The room was dated, the hallway not inviting, and this establishment is in desperate need of renovation, as other reviews have noted. If you want modern, updated, no disrepair showing, then choose another motel as this one is not for you. For the extremely budget conscious family, they might make the effort to make a stay here worth it but that is a highly personal decision. It is also very noisy due to the major highways just outside the facility. The motel we were told was here first, but then came the highway that was placed right outside their front door. If you get a room on the side of the freeway, it seems it would be quite difficult to sleep. Even the room we were assigned on the backside of the motel is significantly noisy but tolerable. It seems it would hold true, as other reviews have noted, to get a room on an upper floor and preferably one not facing the highway. There is a restaurant but when it's not open, the restaurant at their sister-facility just a bit down the road is open and they alternate the days each are open and closed. The free shuttle will pick-up and return guests on the days their facility's restaurant is closed. For breakfast, the restaurant does not open until 6:30 a.m., which frankly, even for us ended up being too late to meet our need since we needed to catch an early flight. The time they open seems a bit too late because this facility caters to those needing to catch a flight and the military who are being stationed in Hawaii. Also, their free motel shuttle only provides rides to and from the airport every half hour and runs 24 hours. The shuttle drivers were also extremely efficient, helpful, and friendly. Do consider leaving a daily gratuity for housekeeping. They work so hard to keep the guests comfortable and the room clean and tidy. Just a couple of dollars always shows them that the guest appreciated their efforts. While traveling over the years, I've talked to many housekeepers and they work diligently and rarely get recognition for the effort from the guests. We've always carried the motto that ?no one is going to clean up our mess? and we make every effort to help housekeeping out by making the room as easy to clean as possible such as gathering all the towels into one place, throwing away trash, keeping the floor and the room free of our belongings being tossed around the room, etc., and upon our exit we make a point to throw all soaps and other used amenities in the trash, saving the housekeeper from having to clean up after us.

« just a hotel to stay close to the airport »

I think after all of the fees/taxes the standard room comes out to $260. There are only two hotels (next to each other) that are close to Honolulu Int'l Airport. The staff is very nice, the rooms are clean. There is a restaurant that is open for breakfast and closes at 10:30AM I believe. The food is really good, at a tourist price. Average about $15 for breakfast. I rented a room in this hotel because it is closest to my parents house (as opposed to Waikiki)... a room at Waikiki was actually a little less expensive. We are talking about "location". I live on Oahu, so I was thinking, if I was a tourist and got stuck overnight at the airport and had to be at the airport early, then of course, I would choose to stay at the Best Western by the airport. BUT, if my flight got cancelled and I had to make a decision to enjoy Waikiki one more night and could arrive at the airport late the next day, then I would choose to stay in Waikiki. I have nothing bad to say about the Best Western --- staff was nice, food was good, room was simple and clean. That's all that I was looking for.

« Nice place, terrible service. »

Our room was great, clean, nice TV with many channels, while small the bathroom had exactly what we needed for our stay. The issues we had came from the employees of the Hotel. While many were great and most were friendly overall, a large portion of the front desk workers were rude, short, and/or hateful. If you are the type of person or family that are able to avoid needing good friendly customer service during your stay than this is a great place. If you have questions or make a mistake or two by not knowing how to stay at their hotel, than I suggest booking a different hotel.

« Perfectly fine for an airport hotel »

Free fast wifi. Old rooms but clean and spacious. TV with lots of channels (+BBC). Cafe that serves ok food and Kona beer. Very well staffed. Shop inside. There's an airport shuttle that only takes 5 minutes. It will pick you up at the airport if you know where to find it (between baggage area E & F across the road) It's right beside a big freeway overpass so, really, don't choose this as your hotel for a Honolulu vacation. If you are spending one night near the airport then this is great. Tip: Get a room up on the 11th or 12th floor to be away from the freeway noise. The bruschetta in the cafe is very salty and garlicy so maybe stay away from that.

« Airport location, yet minimal airport noise »

We stayed at this hotel on our final night in Oahu after a week's stay on the island. It's a basic accommodation without the glamour or the expense of Waikiki or a resort. Access is good from the Nimitz highway, but pay attention to the one way streets. If you have a morning flight, you could drop off your rental car earlier and walk to this hotel and take the shuttle to the airport. Otherwise the parking charge is $30 per day unless you sign up for the Best Western card and then the parking rate is $15. Even though you are adjacent to the airport and a freeway, we only heard occasional sound from planes or cars. The rooms are clean. We had a deluxe king bed room that provided a little more space. The front desk clerk (Raymond?) was exceedingly friendly and informative.

    « Excellent Service »

Stayed for 1 night as this hotel is close to Airport. Price was reasonable. We stayed in apartment next to the pools, however was inconvenient trying to go up stairs with our luggage, rooms are outdated & had a very noisy fan in bathroom. Our other family stayed on opposite side of hotel, they had an excellent view. Rooms also had phone chargers, coffee machine. Also had dinner at the restaurant! Amazing food & our waiter (forgot his name) was so nice and welcoming! Funny as well & also went out of his way to help us sing happy birthday. ??.

« Comfort near the airport »

Whilst the outside of the hotel and lobby appeared dated - the rooms were spacious and very clean. Bed excellent. Airport shuttle service best I have used. The staff were remarkable - some of the best customer service I have had in a long time. A big thank you to Ramon our waiter on both nights in looking after our very picky eating 2 year old. Food in restaurant was also great - particularly the huli huli chicken

    « Great friendly service! »

Amalia our housekeeper has made our stay a memorable one! We are transitioning to Hawaii and this hotel is close to all the attractions and base. The Amalia and the staff provided instructions on how to get to Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, the Pali Look Out, and North Shore!

« It was our first time in Hawai. We couldn't find anything within our budget, we settled for the best Western on nimitz.Th »

The room we got was right next to the highway, the noise was awful. For 4 days..no sleep. The restaurant is so expensive. The Mcdonald within walking distance helped us all. The public bus service was our blessing we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Chandra Law and Miss Sharon at the front desk. MISS Chandra made our few days the best to remember, all she did was provide the best and most professional guest services. She gave us maps, and offer us the most helpful information to get around. She has a great personality, and it is because of her, and Sharon, we made the best of our stay. many thanks to Junio from the maintenance who was so nice to fix our Ac and was wonderful To get us some ginger

    « Enjoyed our stay »

We are staying here for 10 days so far so good. Amalia was so nice and friendly and Ronald too. Excellent when it comes to cleaning our room. All the staff are very helpful and professional. Sharon at the front desk was very polite and friendly. The food was great at the Plaza Cafe restaurant. The hotel has a free parking area for all the guest. The location is so close to the airport. I'm glad we chose to stay here at Best Western The Plaza Hotel overall it was Excellent.??

    « Comfortable and convenient »

This hotel is comfortable, in a convenient location to the airport, and quiet, considering it's near a major interchange and the airport is in view. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and the wi-fi works well. The food and service at the restaurant on the first floor was also excellent. Portions are large. There are also a small convenience store on the first floor and a free hotel shuttle that takes guests to and from the airport. Taxis are easily accessible from here; often one is in the parking lot, ready to take a guest somewhere without a call. If you need to call for a taxi, it usually arrives within 5 to 15 minutes. Other amenities: in-room refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot; laundry onsite.

    « Housekeeping »

He housekeeping staff there is great! Mrs. Annie was super amazing she made sure we had everything we needed and kept our room in great shape for over 30 days. She's a wonderful person couldn't ask for anyone better best housekeeper I've had in a very long time. She was very professional, very attentive, extremely nice. We will miss her.

« Very convenient location, close to the airport. »

I was in Honolulu for business, staying for two days on each end of my trip, I stayed at The Plaza Hotel both times and enjoyed my stay. Very polite and helpful staff that goes the extra mile. If you are looking for wonderful ocean views stay somewhere else but if you are wanting a reasonably priced quite hotel with a helpful staff and easy access to the airport this hotel should make your short list. Sharon at the front desk was particularly polite and helpful.

« Hotel stay during 5 June to 21 June 2016 by Larry Hurst »

The rooms were nice and well taken care of by my hotel janitor Mrs. Mercy as she is a very caring and sweet lady. The store within the hotel satisfied all of my needs when I was needing something and hotel staff was courteous and professional. The view from where I stayed was great in room 615. Mrs. Mercy is well deserving of a promotion. Plus another plus of staying here that McDonalds is nearby for breakfast and sometimes a late night snack. Overall the services were fantastic.

    3
« Quality, but Not Extraordinary »

As expected. Decent size room, small refrigerator, very cramped bathroom. Hotel grounds were great - beautiful. Inside lobby area - ordinary. I stayed in a room with double beds. Staff was friendly, but a bit slow. Room noise ok, average for a hotel. Excellent High Speed Internet. Good area close to airport, but parking was a bit steep.

    4
« Great place to stay for the price...good location..Awesome housekeeping staff »

We have been at this location for a little over 30 days this hotel is located by the airport and is very closes to Pearl Harbor. The staff is excellent, especially the housekeeping staff and our Room Attendant Amalia is awesome, she is always friendly and kind with everyone. The hotel has a designated parking area for guests. The restaurant food is excellent and the staff is wonderful. So far our stay at the BEST WESTERN The Plaza Hotel has been great!!!!

    3
« Close proximity to Honolulu airport, but over-priced for location. Best part was the nice housekeeping staff »

We stayed at this location from 5/22/16 to 6/14/16 in room 127. There are rooms located inside the main hotel; however, we stayed in the outer rooms located around the pool. We requested this room because of medical purposes. The area is ridden with transients and there is no real barrier between the public and the outside rooms, which all have sliding glass doors. The transients had to be shooed away many times and it creates an uneasy feeling at night. There was an incident one day where my son and I left the pool are because a man was smoking meth in the parking lot. The front desk never answers the phone, so be prepared to constantly walk up front. Towels are supposed to be supplied at the pool; however, they go quickly. Both times I asked the front desk clerk for pool towels I was met with a quick, rude response - "They're outside." Of course they were not. Why else would I walk the extra 50 feet to ask you? My husband had just returned from the hospital from major surgery. I waited at the front desk and said excuse me twice to ask where I could find an ice machine. After the second time the clerk huffed and complained I made her lose her count. It's as though we were asking too much for simple requests. The room also had occasional roaches, which is normal when palm trees are nearby. I do know a tree/palmetto roach from a german roach though. When I ask for pest control, the clerk attempted to inform me that roaches are common. Yes, I'm well aware; however, I just killed four and found one in my bed and they surely weren't tree or water roaches. There is a "dining area" inside the main lobby; however, breakfast is ala carte and dinner is only served fri-mon. Tues-Thurs you must walk to their nearby location for a meal. There is a gift shop i the lobby that is quite convenient if you're willing to overpay for convenience. The perks were the not-so-crowded pool, lobby gift shop, proximity to airport, and friendly housekeeping. Luz is amazing. Very respectful, courteous, and helpful and never made you feel as though you were inconveniencing her for asking for anything at all. If hotels near the Waikiki strip are booked or over $300/night, I could say stay here, but I recommend looking at something on the strip such as the Hale Koa, Embassy Suites, Marriott if you're expecting a more Hawaiian experience. I just felt as though I was staying in a low-budget motel in the semi-ghetto part of downtown Houston at this place.

    2
    « Less than ideal »

We didn't expect much of a one-night stay at an airport hotel, but this place did not deliver. Mildewed, poorly ventilated bathroom with a tub that did not drain. (One member of our party ran a bath at night, and another stepped in the same water when he went to take a morning shower.) Most uncomfortable bed and pillow I have experienced in a long time. Overall, very worn and dark. Two stars solely because of the staff, who were very courteous, and the convenient airport shuttle. I'd change my travel plans to avoid this hotel unless it underwent a remodel.

    5
    « Loved it! »

My wife, infant son and I stayed at this hotel for 45 days until we were able to move into our house. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was excellent, the wi-fi works great, they had designated EV parking which was a huge plus for us with our PHEV and the restaurant food was excellent. I wish they served lunch, but I'm not sure whether the demand is there. Annie, Ramon, Mercy, James, and the rest of the staff were great. I can't say enough good things about them. They made it feel like the Best Western was our home. In short, I highly recommend this hotel.

works great for military on TLA. The military liaison Les works with you to book and pay. Very clean, parking is good. Close to Tripler where I work, so convenient while I'm looking for a place to live. Also plug for 6th floor room attendants Mercy, Ronald, and Grace. They're awesome and always give me extra coffee.

Hotel convenient to airport. Traffic noise loud and constant outside. Staff friendly and helpful. Room and amenities were very good. Expect to pay extra for parking. Local style eating establishments nearby. Overall good experience.

« Average. Coin-flip with the other nearby airport hotel. »

Rooms were nice and clean, property was well taken care of. Costly rooms. Staff were a bit tired and lacked any kind of enthusiasm. Restaurant was nice. Wait staff was helpful and food was great. Cashier appeared grumpy and bored. Parking was crazy - both with cost and availability. I will not be returning to his property. The amount of money spent should have resulted in better service... and at least a smile.

Convenient & comfortable being close to the airport. Front Desk staff is friendly and absolutely helpful. Easy excess to freeway. Driving is a breeze not like driving into busy Waikiki. Fast food is nearby.

We loved our stay here at the BWPH. The front desk is very helpful and we had the honor of meeting many wonderful people. Ms. Tysie was our housekeeper and she was wonderful, courteous and respectful. We stayed for about three weeks and the plaza hotel and Tysie made us feel like this was our home. We received $10 vouchers each day per person to use at the restaurant, which was wonderful!

The Hotel is less than 40 metes from the H1 but all of the windows are double pain- no sound proofing. Don't expect a free meal as breakfast will run you $9-$12. The hotel is clean and the staff are polite professionals- it is obvious they are making the best with what they've been given.

    « A Welcome Transit Stop »

After two days of missed flight connections and a lot of not-so-nice people along the way, my one night stopover at the Best Western in Honolulu was a welcomed change of pace. When I checked in, Beau took great care of me. Since American Airlines had made me miss my connections, they paid for the room and what a nice room it was with a view of Diamondhead. I left my coat on the shuttle from the airport and the driver Chris, made sure I got it later that evening. The next day, I made it to my destination after a good night's rest.

    « NOISIEST hotel ever »

Do NOT stay here at any price. The highway noise will drive you insane. The stay was pleasant but they apologized every time we spoke. Talking outside the hotel was impossible. Sleeping near the from Impossible. Airplane noise acceptable. Highway noise? Did I say that already? Homeless people walking through the lobby at all hours???

    « Airport Hotel Honolulu »

Why does the USA have so much trouble getting people into rooms earlier than 3pm! The internet was terrible and the breakfast omelette was huge which isnt really a problem! The room was fine and the bed and pillow wonderful. Kept losing the channel we were watching on TV. Lovely pool and lots of food outlets near by but dont go to the chinese restaurant just down from Thrifty rentals. It was truly awful. Loved the shuttle. Thank you. I did think it quite expensive for what we got but then that seems true of the whole of Hawaii, an expensive place!

    3

Desk staff Beau & Charis is very friendly and always smiling. Housekeeping staff was also nice along with the little help we got from the shuttle drivers. Internet is already up to par! Housekeeping missed /didn't empty trash when I checked in. Drainage was slow in shower it got fixed. Rooms are very large. Bathroom need a little improvement , to small also the irons need changing for certain ones.

« Best Service with everything you need near airport »

As soon as we collected our luggage we called airport shuttle from complimentary phone and they were there in minutes. We arrived within no time to friendly and helpful stuff. Arranged our check in. Room was super large great to unpack and get ready for our stay. The staff were fabulous, accommodating and friendly something which is not always common these days! Great budget hotel! Will definitely use again. Aloha.

« Great customer service, great value for Honolulu »

This was my second time staying here and when I got to the desk, Sharon remembered me (from 2 years ago!) and asked about my wife; what a nice personal touch! Fran asked me for a few items and before I knew it she had my room key ready and my parking validated! They were both super friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. One of the best hotel check-in experiences I can remember!

    4
    « Great staff »

Your staff Sharon, Mena, and Lorenzo were absolutely wonderful. They were very accomodating and helpful. The room was quite large and very neat. All the necessary amenities were available. Being close to the airport was a big plus, too, as I was catching a very early departing flight.

    4
    « Bad Internet »

Internet upgrades proved to be a joke. First time I have never been able to connect iPhone or work laptop to infrastructure/wifi of hotel. Spent 2 hours on phone with tech support. Not my idea of a fun evening. Claims of having network issues were the justification for my inconvenience.

    4
    « friendly staff »

we chose this hotel for overnight flight back to beijing. it was about 4pm and we needed to fax a document to our agent in SF before 5pm. And it was urgent and important. The two ladies (Beau and Ian or Lan) at the front desk helped me to fax the docs even for free. saved my day. thanks.

    « Close to airport »

We booked this hotel as we had a very early morning flight to catch and didn't want to risk a late arrival. It's a clean & tidy hotel. There's not much around it for dinner so ate in Waikiki first. They have a great laundry which is handy if you want to get a head start on the washing before heading home. A shuttle runs to the airport every half hour 24 hrs a day - will cost $2.

There are cheaper places to stay at. but the front desk and their service is why I and my family choose to keep coming back

« First time in Honolulu »

We're taking the Hawaii cruise from Honolulu so this is a convenient location for us: nearby the airport, car rental and our friend's condo. The rooms is not fancy, but good enough for couple nights. The front desk staff tried their best to accommodate our request for checking in early (8AM).

    3
« Unplanned stay due flight cancellation »

Due to recent airline flight cancellation, we were provided overnight accommodation at Best Western Plaza hotel near Honolulu Airport. Hotel looks like it was recently renovated as lobby and rooms were nice. However avoid rooms in main building facing towards the roadway. Our room ended in "02" and was directly in front of H-1 freeway and Nimitz Highway. I was amazed at the amount of vehicular noise from outside. However no surprise since hotel provided ear plugs in the room which hinted already that outside noise may be annoying. Hotel restaurant open for breakfast and dinner only and is pricey. The $8 airline breakfast meal voucher doesn't even cover the cost of a simple continental breakfast ($8.95) without additional out-of-pocket cost. American breakfast (2 eggs, choice of breakfast meat, hash browns and toast) was $14.95. Coffee was $2.95. Hotel only good if you needed quick stay near the airport but I would highly recommend requesting quiet room away from H-1 freeway/Nimitz Highway. Courtesy shuttle van from hotel to airport operated every 30 minutes on the top and bottom of each hour. From the airport call hotel 808-836-3636 when ready for pick-up and wait on center median outside of baggage claim lower level alongside green painted curb marked "permittee".

    5
    « Great Accomodations »

The hotel was centrally located to everywhere we went and especially close to work. The only drawback is its located near a major highway and freeway and traffic noise carried over into our room which was near the highway/freeway side of the hotel. The restaurant was amazing with friendly staff/wait persons. We took advantage of the Fitness Center and Pool, although we wished the open hours for both were longer. All in all we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed ourselves.

« My stay at the Best Western Plaza »

I had a very enjoyable and pleasant stay at the Best Western Plaza in Honolulu. The staff and accommodations was Very Good. There's a few good places to eat at near the hotel (within walking distance) which was very convenient. I would highly recommend this Hotel.

    3
    « Convenient location »

Close to the airport, and on a couple major bus lines which made it easy for us to get around without a car. We took the bus to Pearl Harbor. A short walk to a couple okay places to eat, and a small convenience store in the hotel lobby to pick up lotion / snacks / etc. When there are two beds in a room, they are doubles even though some places you will see them listed as queens. Okay for cuddling, not okay for (most) friends sharing a bed. Service at the front desk was generally slow but effective.

    3
    « Friendly but Noisy »

I would give this hotel more stars but my room 711 is way too noisy and they know it as they supply ear plugs. Hotel is clean, food is good in both restaurant and the little convenience store in the lobby. Flat screen, nice pool, palm trees but there is a highway overpass very close to this side of the hotel, you might ask for a room on the other side. Again staff are so friendly, bus stops outside and it's $ 2.50 to get to Waikiki Beach although with the public transport it's stop and go so it about 1 hour.

    5
« Awesome Hospitality and great staff!!! »

I stayed here for three weeks and my experience was great. Beau and Fran was just amazing at the front desk. I never worried about any noise or bad room service. I loved the staff and I hope to come back soon!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!! :-)

« Clean and close to the airport »

We only stayed one night as we were taking an early flight the following day. The hotel is close to the airport and very clean with everything you need including free wifi. The staff at the front desk were helpful and easy to deal with and the gift shop was reasonably priced.

« Great Place to Stay Close to the Airport »

To break up trip from Hawaii to Japan and Japan to Hawaii, I generally stay at The Plaza Hotel (Best Western). Due to schedule, when inbound to Hawaii, I get in very early and the hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate my stay. Special thanks to Mena and Fran for their excellent support and help. The shuttle driver, the maid staff and the food service people all gave me that wonderful Hawaiin welcome. I will stay here again. The only small issue I had was the room shower head, the shower head needed replacement causing the water to come out extremely slow without pressure.

« Great stay for early morning flight »

Very friendly staff. 24 hour shuttle to airport that runs every 30 min. Higher floors and rooms toward the back have less traffic noise. Parking available on site for a charge. Restaurants available on premises or shuttle to sister restaurants. McDonald's is the next block.

« Great place to stay for overnight layover »

To break up trip from Narita Airport in Tokyo to Houston, we stayed again at The Plaza Hotel (Best Western). Due to schedule, we hoped we could check in a bit early. Really exhausted. Staff was most accommodating. Really helped us out; at our age, need all the help we can get. Breakfast was fine; room was spacious - typical of most Best Westerns. The helpfulness of the staff, from front desk (Ms Sharon in particular), the shuttle driver, the maid staff and the food service people all gave us that wonderful Hawaiin welcome. We will stay here again if we do a layover. Also would recommend this hotel if flights canceled. Call immediately for a room as we hear that it becomes very popular when mainland gets snow delays in winter. Also, the Wifi was super. Maybe best we've had in any number of hotels.

« Convenient location and very affordable! »

The location of this Best Western by the airport was ideal for us because we did not want to drive in the city traffic of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. Also, the hotel location was very close to the rental car lot so returning our rental car took only a few minutes. Regarding the hotel service, we were extremely pleased with the quick and polite action they provided when we checked in; After bringing our luggage up to our room, we saw that we were placed in a room with 2 double beds - we were supposed to be in a room with a king size bed. The staff immediately resolved the problem and placed us in the correct room on the same floor (which made for easy movement of our luggage). An additional positive note, the hotel restaurant service was great and the gift shop customer representative was always friendly!

« Convenient, Clean, Classy and Comfortable! »

This experience was more than ideal. Convenient, clean, classy and comfortable, we are looking forward to another stay here. Thank you for the ease of transportation via complimentary airport shuttle service - the first amenity that attracted us to the property. Excellent, 5-star experience all the way! Friendly, attentive staff. Great food at the on-stie restaurant. For anyone who loves to travel without hassle. GREAT Stay!!

« Nice Hotel near the Airport »

On a recent trip to Honolulu a friend and I had to stay two extra days because of flights canceled due to snow in Denver on our return trip. We were able to find a room at the Best Western Plaza Hotel at a nice rate. The hotel is near the airport and the hotel shuttle was prompt is picking us up and later returning us to the airport. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. There was a nearby McDonalds Restaurant and also a nearby bus stop, which allowed us to easily find transportation into Honolulu and Waikiki for further exploring on our extra days in Hawaii. We had a pleasant stay!

« Great hotel for airport stopover »

I was extremely happy with this hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean & comfortable & the beds very comfortable. We did ask for a quiet room so the highway noise didn't bother us at all. The airport shuttle was great & we didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to be picked up. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is the best option for a stopover near the airport.

« Close to airport, good shuttle »

If you just need a place close to the airport, this works well. It has the freeway on three sides, so it is a little noisy, but close your eyes and pretend it's the ocean. It was clean and efficient with excellent shuttle service every 30 minutes.

    « Hotel Needs a Makeover »

The hotel is conveniently located to the airport and Pearl Harbor. The breakfasts were very good and the staff very friendly. The hotel's carpet needs replacing. The mattresses are long overdue to be replaced and the A/C is frustrating.

    « Service "with a smile" »

I like to recognize Cecilia for her commendable customer service. She was very accommodating - more than willing to offer me a room that fits my style. I have been staying in this hotel for the past 3 years and never had any unfavorable experience. Kudos to the management for such outstanding effective employees training program.

« Convenient to airport and Pearl Harbor center »

This hotel is very close to the airport, reasonably priced, clean, with very helpful staff. We stayed here just one night, as we flew into Honolulu to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial, and then flew out to the "Big Island" the next day. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided us with good advice on how best to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The only negative is you can practically touch the interstate overpass from this hotel! But that is also what makes it convenient for "in and out" travelers to Honolulu. I think it's a reasonable price to pay for convenience. I slept well and never heard the traffic. My wife, a lighter sleeper, said she heard the traffic. The evening we arrived at the hotel we decided to take the city bus to see Waikiki Beach. Riding a city bus during rush hour in Honolulu is an experience in itself, and gave us a firsthand understanding of why this city is rated worst in the nation for traffic!

« Best value in town! »

I stayed over Christmas and was very pleased with the hotel. It was very clean, quiet, affordable and the staff was amazing. They went out of their way to answer questions and help me with whatever I needed. In particular I would like to give a huge shout out to Beau and Charis at the front reception desk. They know what customer service is all about! Nice job ladies!

« Stayed here on a return trip from the Philippines. »

Stayed here for a few days after returning from Cagayan De Oro Philippines. Nice place with good rates. Will stay here I am sure on our next rip. Lived in Hawaii from 1969 to 1973 and 1975 to 76. Next trip through Hawaii we plan on seeing how much things have changed around Schofield barracks and the like.

« Certainly not a resort, it is a low-cost airport hotel with shuttle service »

We arrived late in the evening from Kona with a early morning departure for the Mainland. We looked for something close, with a shuttle and low cost. We found the Best Western Plaza. Everything seemed worn and dated in the hotel with construction/repair taking place on the restaurant, pool, etc. No worry McDonalds is on the same block on the far side of the hotel. Shuttle service picked us up and returned us to the airport very timely. Good for a short overnight, with the hotel shop being more expansive than you would expect for travel supplies. Hotel lies beside an elevated highway and a ground highway. Ask for a room away from the noise.

Thank you for the wonderful stay. We will definitely like to,stay here again. Food was delicious and your restaurant staff was great! Usingm the shuttle to the airport was very convenient! The room was very clean and spacious!

    « Refuge from a delayed flight »

We were about to board our flight from Honolulu, only to learn that the destination runway was flooded and the flight was delayed by 24 hours. We needed overnight accommodation, but were unfamiliar with the locality. Fortunately a fellow traveller recommended the Best Western - just around the corner and a few minutes drive on the hotel's complimentary shuttle. It proved to be the perfect refuge, comfortable beds, quiet rooms, an on-site convenience store, and a restaurant . The staff was obviously accustomed to stressed out grumpy travellers, and were extremely helpful and obliging As one might expect, the hotel location cannot be described as scenic - it is surrounded by buildings used to service the airport. However, just a short distance away we found a group of inexpensive cafe's and a few other retail outlets. Summing up - a handy location, clean quiet rooms, good staff, and a free shuttle back to the airport to resume the journey.

    « Good Value »

This hotel is a good value and is in a very good location if you're visiting Pearl Harbor, Hickam Air Base, or Ft. Shafter. It's less expensive than the hotels in Waikiki and you are only minutes away. Bus stops close to hotel and if you're going to Waikiki, then that's your best choice. It's next to H1, so you may need ear plugs (the hotel provides). Has a shop downstairs next to the lobby and a laundry area if you're here for an extended stay.

    « Best house keeping service Ms.Luz »

I been staying at the hotel for 10 days and Ms. Luz has done an amazing job of cleaning the entire room. She always has a smile and is very friendly, she is so nice and respectful and treated my wife and I as family. The hotel is very nice and Ms. Luz just made it better. Thank you for all you do Ms. Luz and for anyone that is thinking of staying at the best western do it because it is worth it.

« Day use room thank you Fran »

We docked at the pier from our cruise and needed a place to stay because of a late flight departure. My husband woke up with vertigo so our plans to tour changed. I called the Best Western from the ship and they told me of their day use rooms. Check out time was 6 pm but I asked for an extended checkout. Fran at the desk went out of her was to get us a delayed departure since out flight wasn't until 10:30 pm. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Thank you Fran for all you help

    « Great airport hotel »

Wonderful place to stay if you want to be near an airport. Fran, at the front desk, was extremely helpful, getting us into rooms very early in the day so we could settle a bit before setting out for the day. I would definitely go back.

« Jetstar cancellation unsatisfactory accomodation »

After appalling service from Jetstar ground staff, in particular, the manager, Dorrie, who disappeared to leave 2 staff to deal with 200 very unhappy people after a flight cancellation. We waited almost 3 hours for a shuttle bus to what can only be described as a dive as the accomodation provided to passengers with no certainty of a flight tomorrow. Pool closed, restaurant closed, shuttle provided to sister property to use pool and $30. dinner. The only reason Jetstar could find enough rooms in one place to accommodate a flight load of people is that you would have to be mad to pay for a dingy, dated and sad sad place to stay. What a crap way Jetstar managed to ruin our holiday in Hawaii. The 3 hour delay coming over was enough but this is icing on the cake.

    « Old, bad location »

Rooms need upgrading. Location is in industrial area next to noisy freeway. Staff is friendly and helpful though, and hotel is kept clean. Several lights in the room did not work. Window air conditioner was noisy. Bed was comfortable.

    4
« Close to the airport »

We booked this hotel as we had an early morning flight and they offered a free airport shuttle. The front rooms are very close to a very noisy freeway, so ask for a room out the back. The rooms are quite large with a fridge and a coffee machine, but it is quite dated but clean and comfortable. We arrived late and left early so did not use the restaurant or other facilities.

« Smashed Potatoes my behind because I am not allowed to say the A word »

Fran was wonderful checking me in. We desired early check in but the rooms were not available. We flew over night from Asia and were tired. She directed us to a shopping mall where we provisioned and then called us when our rooms were ready. Throughout our stay Fran was awesome. She gave advice for meals and great directions for 3 tired travelers that had never been in Hawaii. The restaurant is great for breakfast. The entire staff is wonderful and attentive. Unfortunately the dinner chefs leave much to be desired. I ordered pork chops which were lovely. However the sides at $7 each were terrible. I ordered the 'garlic smashed potatoes'. I received a dozen baby potatoes in grease. When I explained to the waiter that for $7 a side this was not what I expected. He graciously took them back to the kitchen. He returned 1 minute later with the same potatoes with what looked to be someones fist print in them. I guess at the Best Western Hulk Smash potatoes. Again, tonight as I am a glutton for punishment and a lover of pork I ordered the same dish and received the same baby potatoes devoid of salt, pepper, garlic, butter, chives, and even a hint of sour cream. I offered to make the dish for the chef. I asked to have the potatoes reheated, a dollop of butter, salt, pepper, two tablespoons of sour cream, chives and bacon bits but they would not let me make that order. They could not find my credit receipt and so I paid $7 for a container of cold, raw potatoes that were left at the cashier stand. I did not get recompense but did suggest that the chef use the baby potatoes as suppositories. Cashier actually googled 'smashed potatoes' when I pointed out the difference she said, 'Those are regular smashed potatoes, not garlic smashed potatoes. I would not be so upset but the initial knuckle prints in the first batch of 'garlic smashed potatoes' shows an arrogance and distain that does not belong in customer service. I think this is not the Best the West has to offer.

    « Very Nice »

This hotel was perfect for my transfer trip to my cruise. The staff and room was wonderful. It was close to the airport. Free pick up shuttle was great and on time. This hotel has a onsite cafe and a onsite mini store. The hotel is close to a freeway. The noise level may bother some people. However, it is quite at night when it is less traffic. Complimentary internet.

    2
« Terrible hotel. Time to bulldoze and rebuild. »

Very old and not so clean. Beds are ridiculously small and bathroom is woeful but the worst thing is the noise from the elevated highway. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. Staff and service is very good though.

    « Pretty neat »

Skip down a little for the pointers. I would have given it 5 but I don't want to oversell this place, the hotel is nice the staff are funny and friendly. The only down fall I have to say is the location. I haven't went to the pool but there was people there enjoying it their gym room is pretty nice (12th floor) because they have free weights and not just a machine and treadmills. But the room, so while I was here for a few days I had friends rent a room at the Princess Sheraton in Wakiki and man oh man that room looked like butt compared to the rooms here. The room itself is nice and spacious but I wish the bathrooms were a little bigger. Bottom line. -nice room small bathroom -right by the freeway always hear cars(didn't stop me from sleeping) -Make sure you have uber or Lyft!! To get you where you need to go. (Ex 16$ from here to Wakiki) -explore the local area there are a few food joints around that are pretty great Ps: I had a awesome made, Annie, she told me some great food places to go and nice places to get some souvenirs (that aren't too over priced)

« Best Western The Plaza Hotel, Honolulu »

    « Maid Service »

Aloha, Was greeted and remembered by first name by my room house keeper, Ms. Amalia, on a daily basis during my stay. Love that personal touch as well as her keeping my room clean, fresh and stocked. She was always cheerful and had a "Good Morning" and "Have a Good Day" greeting and of course, "Is there anything I can get you?" to include remembering my name. I appreciate that when everything in service now days is so "wham bam" without so much as a thank you for your patronage. For a hotel that's not the Ritz or a Hilton, I applaud Ms. Amalia for her graciousness and professionalism. Mahalo!

    « A Nice Surprise »

A most welcome surprise ? the place looks really spruced up from my last visit several years ago. The location is bizarre, almost tucked under a freeway with roaring trucks, but inside the hotel all is very nice. Our room was fairly quiet. The hotel is a 10 minute complimentary shuttle ride from the airport, the staff is superb, the rooms spacious and comfortable. We found the room a/c pretty useless, but they brought us a fan and we slept well. There's even a nice smoking lounge on the 5th floor. The breakfast menu was large and the food delicious. No room service because the hotel restaurant is only open a few nights a week, but their sister property has terrific food, and it's a very quick walk. I'd recommend this hotel, it was a good value.

    5
    « One night stay »

This hotel is clean & bed comfortable with a yummy breakfast on offer in dining room I can certainly recommend this hotel to overnight travellers who wish to be at airport next day and they offer a free shuttle service something we did not encounter anywhere else we stayed so a bonus

    4
    « Good Stopover hotel »

If you're in Honolulu and not needing to go be a tourist (i.e. making a stopover), this hotel is a pretty good place. A little too expensive IMO but not too bad considering it's in Hawaii. It's convenient to the airport, has an on-demand shuttle, and has a variety of nearby food locations. Local bus service is at the front door to all locations on the island. Breakfast is very good, dinners a little less so, but satisfactory. Staff was very courteous and efficient, rooms clean and comfortable. Not much of a "view" and too close to a noisy expressway were my only 'complaints'.

« Pedro Rivera- amazing service by everyone »

Chris was very helpful in getting us to where we needed to go and helped us in our stressful situation to get to the right hotel. I would like to thank Meua, Sharon, Zauaida, Teehie, Michael, Marci, Chabdra, Beau, Soledad, for making my stay very comforting. We have 3 kids so things can be quite trying at times and you put my life at ease by reducing the amount of stress I was under. Thank you all for everything. I would recommend everyone to come and stay because you make everyone feel like family. Mahalo the Rivera family

« Extremely convenient, clean and well run »

This is the perfect place to stay if you arrive on a late flight or are leaving early. It's also not too far from Pearl Harbor if you want to visit there. The staff were friendly and professional. They gave us a free room upgrade when we stayed there again the night before we left Hawaii. Most of the rooms do not face the highway, so that was not a problem.

    « If I could rate 4.5 stars, I would »

We stayed here overnight on our way to New Zealand, but will stay here anytime we are in this area. Yes, the shuttle service is great. And our driver was so friendly and helpful, he even helped us get our luggage in the elevator and into our room. He told us his name and that he would be on duty until 10p if we needed anything. What a gracious man. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. I needed a sewing kit (didn't know if those were even made anymore) at check-in, and the lady gave me one after checking it to be sure all items were included. Thoughtful touch. The restaurant breakfast was very good. I don't know why this hotel was not busier; we did not notice any noise that night. The room was perfectly clean and had everything we needed, and then some.

    « Disappointing. »

This is an absolutely no-frills room. The hotel is old and noisy, right next to the road. The bed is hard, the furniture is from the 70s or 80s, and the colors are harvest gold and avocado green -- remember that era? I didn't want to put my feet on the carpet, but the bed seemed clean. There is an attic access door in the ceiling and the "closet" has no door. The lobby is no-frills as well, but there is a convenience store inside, which sells drinks and snacks. We couldn't access the WIFI, and had to use the hot-spot on our phone. The air conditioner works fine when turned all the way down, but if you want to adjust the temperature, it's difficult. If you need a room at the airport, this might be your best option, but I'd double-check. Next time, we have decided that a short drive to another hotel is worth it, even for an early morning flight.

« Good for overnight near the Honolulu Airport »

I stayed at this hotel near the Honolulu Airport as I had a 6am flight, and was not sure of the traffic situation from Waikiki that early on a Friday morning. While this is an older hotel, I found my room very well kept, comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The air conditioner worked very well. I was on the ninth floor, on the back side of the hotel and had a view of the airport. Many have commented on the noise level but being away from the Nimitz Highway, I heard no traffic noise, and minimal airport noise. Staff were very friendly and airport shuttle was on time. There is a restaurant on site but it is closed a few nights of the week. There is a fairly well stocked store in the lobby with frozen and microwave food if you are stuck. Overall positive stay, and I would stay here again.

    4
    « Close to airport »

This Best Western suited our purposes being close to the airport. The noise of traffic during the night was a bit loud but the bed was comfortable, the room fairly spacious. Our A/C was very noisy the first night and when I reported it, a repair man came within 10 mins to look at it. He unfortunately couldn't fix the noise but when we returned the next day, the A/C had been replaced with a new unit. Very impressive service.

« Nice hotel near airport »

The hotel is conveniently located near Honolulu airport, but also beside the highway. We heard some highway noise at night but it did not disturb our sleep. A short walking distance away were several car rental options. McDonald's is next door--important to us as we arrived late at night after long travel delays & were hungry. The hotel is modern, clean & with all the expected amenities. Front desk staff was very helpful. The drawback for us was location; if it were closer to Waikiki we would have been very happy to make it our home base.

    4
    « Good overnight »

This is a very clean hotel located adjacent to the Honolulu airport. A free shuttle is provided making this very convenient. Our room was very large and well appointed, more than we needed for an over-night stay between flights. It had great block-out curtains and there was no air-traffic noise. Certainly recommend for a night between flights.

    4
« Nice choice if you need to be close to the airport »

The exterior is unprepossessing, but the staff members are friendly and helpful, the rooms are aging but clean and comforable, and the store in the lobby is unusually well stocked with all manner of supplies and foods--probably because the hotel has many extended stay military guests. There is an outdoor pool and a restaurant that opens for breakfasts (good) and splits evenings with the sister hotel's restaurant one block away (also good). I had no issue with loud jet noise from the nearby airport, and had great courtesy van pickup and deliver service from and to the airport. No problems at although I thought the cost was a bit high--probably because there aren't many hotels close to the airport.

    « Hawaii »

I used to stay at Hilton Hawaiian Village before. This was my first time I stayed at Best Western Plaza in Hawaii. I had the best experience staying at this hotel and it is hundred times better than Hilton Hawaiian Village. Five star service with staff Techie and Lorenzo. I recommend Best Western Plaza very highly.

« 1 night stay in Best Western near Hawaii Airport »

Staff is helpful to assist us on bus route to Waikiki and Pearl Harbour. Room is better than what we expect in view of the customer's rating of this hotel. Disappointed with the airport shuttle service causing us to wait for around an hour.

    4
    « Over-nighter »

A very large clean room for an overnight stay when needing to be close to the airport. The free shuttle was very welcome. The room was very large and very clean, but the room was expensive given it is just a bed for a night. You would not stay there for your holiday

    5
    « Room service »

The Best Western Hotel is overall the greatest hotels we've stayed in while in Hawaii. The best part of it was having our daily house keeper, I believe her name was Mercy and we were in room 602. This caring individual would just brighten our morning every single day with her welcoming tone of voice when she knocks politely on our door if we needed service, and her caring hospitality that she showed towards us. Her cleaning part of her was also a plus, she made sure nothing dirty was on the lying around. If one thing I would admire about this hotel, it would be meeting Mercy. God bless and thank you Best Western hotel for your ALOHA hospitality. Mahalo.

    « HouseKeeping »

So my husband and I have been at this hotel for over 40 days, waiting for our house to open up. While we have been here we have had many different types of experiences both good and bad. But throughout the entire stay the one thing I looked forward too was the housekeeper Amalia coming to our room. She was always smiles and always friendly and helpful and kind. I have three kids and 2, 4 year olds(twins). She always does extra touches like folding their special blankets ect... It helps, being stuck in a 2 tiny rooms with 5 ppl 3 of them being kids makes for some really stressful times and she helped keep at least one aspect of our stay pleasant. I want to send out a huge thank you to Amalia for making our stay pleasant.

    5
    « GREAT SERVICE!!!! »

This was a very central hotel (I've stayed for 10 day ). You're minutes from everything There's really no downside to this hotel. The restaurant is great, house keeping is wonderful Mercy she is the best, very nice and helpful and responsive. Recommended if you want to stay very central.

    « A Bit Hit and Miss »

Overall a decent hotel with a good locale for my purpose. The staff was consistently excellent, very helpful and friendly. Others have noted the noise due to the proximity to the freeway, although it was noticeable wasn't too distracting. It had free wifi although it requires you to sign in on a daily basis which got a little annoying since we were there for 10 days. The facilities were great and I had few complaints. Overall some good things and some average things about this hotel.

« Tysee our maid is fantastic. She is very etailedoriented and patient with my sons one in which is special needs! »

The hotel as well as the resturaunt are amazing. The staff and comforts make an extended stay quite enjoyable. The food is great. They matched our TLA rates and the laundry facility is updated to accommodate card transactions. Tysee our maid was very friendly and personable!

    « Very average »

Stayed one night in March 2016 waiting for connecting flight the next day. I would not stay here again. The hotel is old but clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. However the road noise is seriously loud and constant - take good ear plugs and the hotel is handy to the airport but nothing else. Whilst my travel agent booked it for its location (to save taxi or shuttle fares) once we booked in there was nothing to do. We bused into Waikiki and taxied back again. We may as well have stayed in a nicer hotel and got the shuttle. (Budget travelers)

« Staff Aloha overtakes age of property »

The staff at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel make this property a very good value proposition. I would agree with others that some of the room decor is dated and if you are expecting a modern in-room contained HVAC system, you won't find it here. I stayed with my son on a medically-related visit from Maui to Oahu so I really just needed a place to overnight between my surgery and the follow-up post-surgery appointment. I had previously been at The Plaza Hotel on a prior medically-related visit. On that trip, The Plaza had updated its cable television system and the local channels did not work on the television Staff tried many things to try to get the local channels to display in my room but were unsuccessful. After providing a review of the property that noted my disappointment, I was contacted by Tracey H Kuamo'o, the Guest Services Manager, to apologize that they were not able to address my issue and to respectfully request that I give The Plaza Hotel another chance. I did on this visit and I am happy to report that I was able to watch the local television channels in my room. I would recommend that if you are looking for a good value in a location near the Honolulu International Airport that you strongly consider The Plaza Hotel.

« The staff members are amazing! »

Staying here for over a month while waiting for a house can be a struggle for a family of 4 plus a large dog in a small two bed 2nd floor hotel room. The staff made the stay less stressful by always being kind and courteous. The housekeepers always did an amazing job, especially Sonia who always wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. It is also helpful when you get friendly smiles every morning and night from waiters/waitresses in the restaurant. Even the maintenance staff are super friendly, they come quickly and resolve the issue. The fridge is a bit small for families who have to stay here for more than a couple days, but it's only temporary. Overall, we've been enjoying our stay here at the Best Western the Plaza.

    3
    « Staff »

Staff is very helpful and courteous. Housekeeping Rep Ms. Amelia was very polite and wanted to make sure I had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Rooms could use a bluray/dvd player for people staying over 7 nights.

    « Nope »

If I were to rate this hotel on the staff alone it would get a great rating, however, the decor is run down and in dire need of a face lift. Dingy carpets and interior. the parking is minimal. So arrive early. It has a feel of temporary housing, which a local told me is used for our military men when they are new on the island. Shame on the military for making you folks stay here. I would rather stay at the Ala Moana Hotel. It's about the same price. Just no free breakfast. I did not eat the food at the Best Western. After seeing the quality of the rooms I felt I would be best to skip their food. I can not review it since I never saw it.

« Last night on Oahu »

After a very very stressful week on Oahu for a family emergency, we booked here before leaving back for the mainland. At first we had some issues. The issues were quickly solved by Reid the front office manager. Not only did he empathize with my situation but he went out of his way to fix it. Not only did he move us rooms, he even carried the luggage for my husband and myself. Wow! Wonderful service from management. But honestly the front desk staff need way more customer service training. Maybe it was an off day for them. Ask for a tower room or you may be stuck with an older exterior corridor room. Thanks again Reid. -Ryan and Daniel-

« Overnight for airport convienence »

Honestly, we were very impressed with this hotel. We rarely choose Best Western and I think I still imagine the Best Westerns of the 1980s. From the shuttle drivers to the front desk to the waiter everyone was very friendly and just seemed to be in great moods. Because we were on our 30th anniversary trip we were upgraded which was unexpected since it was one night and an airport hotel. The hotel restaurant was closing in 15 minutes so the front desk clerk offered to store our bags and pointed us towards a much needed dinner. Our waiter (Ramon, I think) was awesome and did not rush us at all. I had the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was very large and very good. My husband had the fish sandwich and said it was delicious as well. If you need a location near the Honolulu International Airport I highly endorse this one.

    « Fit for purpose! »

Stayed here overnight as no early enough flight from the Big Island in time to connect with an early morning departure from Honolulu the following day. Very dubious after reading reviews, and had no expectations but needs must. Followed advice and requested a high room facing away from the road and was allocated a clean large corner room on the top floor by very friendly and helpful staff. Dated décor but absolutely fine. Noisy aircon however.Good shuttle to and fro from the airport even at 5.00 am.

« WE visited this place on our trip in and on our trip out »

The hotel is dated and noisy due to a road leading to the airport. If staying ask for a room facing toward the city. The rooms around the pool are very noisy due to the above. The staff especially Cecelia and Mena were most helpful in suggesting the room we got on the trip in and out of Hawaii They also allowed us to stay later till 6 and beyond as our flied out was at 11:45 pm We ate in the restaurant most times as there is nothing much around to walk to. The meals where plain and good and also good quantities

    « The Hotel Staff »

Every visit for me includes a few nights at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel. The special feeling received from the staff starts from the time that wheels touch the ground at the airport. They always make me feel special and welcomed. Their smiles and personalities will energize me every time. That is important to me having traveled so many miles in 1 year time. I visited Honolulu 9 times in 2015 and stayed at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel every time. The rooms were always comfortable. The food is always to taste and filling. Most of all I feel that the staff members are the highlights of my visits. My plan is to continue interacting with this fine hotel in the future. (Near future) V/R K. Mitchell

    « Great Choice »

An excellent hotel for an overnight stopover on my way to Kauai. The shuttle arrived very promptly, check in was also very quick. The room and bathroom was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. There was some noise from the motorway but ear plugs easily fixed that. Breakfast was very good, the staff were friendly and professional. The shuttle back to the airport was very quick and I really enjoyed my talk with the very pleasant driver. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

    « Amazing Stay »

All the staff is so friendly. From the ladies at the front desk, to the wait staff at the restaurant, to the ladies in Housekeeping. Annie was the housekeeper in charge of our room. Every time I saw her she was so friendly and welcoming. She would always take a moment to talk to us. I saw her do this to every guest she would see. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

« Pause Between Long flights »

We booked this hotel because of it's location at Honolulu International Airport. We stayed only a half day to rest and cleanup between overnight flights from Australia and the US. Although it was pricey for this purpose, as an older couple, we needed the break from the confines of present day Economy airline travel and it was much more cost efficient than Business or First Class airfare.

« Close to the airport but difficult to get to »

Nice room close to airport but difficult to get to. The room was great and there was a washer and dryer off the lobby but we never used it so I do not know the cost. The hotel had MANY military service men , and some families at the hotel. There is a small gift shop off the lobby and a restraint off the lobby but a bit expensive. Somewhat noisy with the Nimitz freeway and Hwy 1 both outside the front door. The Nimitz runs under Hwy 1 do using the GPS from the phone sometimes leads to confusion. Parking costs $30 a day unless you are a BW member and then is $15 per day.

I checked in on 2/21 for a week. sharon, welcomed me in and got me settled early which I appreciated as I was up all night. During the week Sharon and Mena were very helpful. Just a great team and support. Hookipa wonderful. The other staff also were open, friendly and helpful. On my next visit I will return here.

    « BW Honolulu »

This hotel is located about a 5 minute drive from the airport and about a 15 minute drive to Honolulu. Traffic is terrible so we used the bus a lot and there are stops directly across the street from the hotel. Using the bus made it fairly easy to to get to Pearl Harbor and downtown. The hotel is older and parking is not great. Do not stay on the side facing the freeway, the hotel actually provides you ear plugs for rooms on that side!

Even though I was only present one night, the service was good. I wished I would have had longer to stay but I was on my way to the Philippines and needed a good night's sleep which was provided. Thanks for the good service with the shuttle pick and return to the airport.

    « Best Western Plaza »

I stayed here as part of a military tour. For the price and location, you can't beat it. The Front Desk staff were excellent. Ms. Erlinda, Athena, Cecilia, Rose, and Myrna rocked! The made sure everything was well-coordinated. Their attitudes always put a smile on my face. Also, there was one young lady who was maid there, I never got her name, but I swear she was one of the hardest working people there. My room was always clean to perfection. My only warning or caution is the parking, due to space limitations, is rather tight and so you have to be careful with that. I can say I was one happy satisfied customer. For anyone else in similar and likewise circumstances as myself, I would recommend it highly.

    « Business »

We arrived to a very clean neatly prepared room. I travel often for work and stay at this Best Western more than 20 days per year. Not a 5 star luxury resort but always clean and the staff is great. I book through Les and get my rooms on one or two week notice. The ladies at the front desk act like they have known me my entire life. This trip my wife came and she liked our view from the corner room. She also liked that Solodad kept our room so clean and she was very pleasent and cooperative. First class service!

I would like to give a shout out to Lan the front desk reception that help me checking in and providing valuable information about TLA while I check in to Joint Base Pearl Harbor. Also to the outstanding work that my house keeper Grace and Mercy that works at the 6th floor, my room is always in excellent condition and they have great personalities, even giving me advice of where to go around the area.

    « Dingy and Old »

First I'll say though we did not enjoy our short stay, we were too exhausted from 20 hours of travel to try and have the problems resolved. Also the staff was fine though we had little contact. Just know that this is a very dated and old feeling place Our room was dirty, smelled the windows did not seal and the traffic noise was just ridiculous. The bathroom set up was just awful no spot to put any toiletries the towels were out on the entrance area. Just a very low end hotel in a loud and dirty area of town. But not cheap spent over $200 to stay one night. We wanted to be near the airport for a connecting flight the next morning what a mistake.

« Perfect location for a 'fly in, fly out stay' »

Extremely close to the airport, with a great free shuttle service. The staff are extremely helpful, with outstanding customer service. The hotel is very tired and rooms very very noisy from the highway located right in front of the room. They do supply excellent ear plugs that made a huge difference to the noise. Without these, I would of ask for a room move to the back of the hotel due to the excessive loud traffic noise. The room was clean and comfortable enough as well. The hotel is very expensive, but most airport style hotels are. I am a senior manager for a tour and travel agency in Australia and I would recommend this hotel if you require an overnight stay due to your flight structure. I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a hotel to stay while you are here on holidays for a week or so. Research a better location, quality of a hotel or get someone to do it for you.

« Best Western The Plaza Hotel in Honolulu »

Just wanted to express my appreciation to Lan & Mina on our recent stay at the Best Western Plaza. We needed a place to spend the day waiting for our 11pm flight back to Ohio. They went out of their way to find us a room and made us feel right at home. I wish I could say the same for other places we've stayed thru the years. My Best Western experience is always a good one.

« good spot to avoid downtown traffic »

Decent place if you have been to Hawaii before or are going there for work on base. The location is right by the airport so you will save a lot of time avoiding the downtown traffic. Staff is great (Mercy) did a good job keeping my room tidy. I worked nights while I was there and found it was not overly noisy or crowded. Gym is small but has enough items to do most workouts. Things that could be improved -Parking is tough in a small parking garage (I am glad my rental was a compact car) -restaurant is only open a few days a week for dinner -laundry should have additional washers and dryers

    4
« close to airport - great shuttle »

I picked this hotel because it was super close to the airport and had a free shuttle and seemed much less dodgy than some cheaper options. Shuttle service was great! Hotel is a bit tired, but is clean and bed was comfortable. Hotel is a bit noisey - i stayed on pool side of hotel near on-ramps to highways, but earplugs were provided.

« PERFECT FOR ONE NIGHT, FLYING IN, FLYING OUT »

This is perfect if you fly in late night and need a place to stay BEFORE you get your rental car or the night before you fly out the next day. Free airport shuttle. Some rental car agencies will pick you up free the next morning...save a full day of car rental fees! Owl rental cars picked us up the next morning and dropped us off at the airport after our days on the island. Perfect. This BW was clean, staff friendly and helpful. No free breakfast and if you arrive late at night the only place close to eat is McD's. No big deal, just the way it is. Good BW. Price may seem high to the mainland BW's but relax, this is Hawaii. Everything is more expensive. Ask for a room several floors up. We had no noise and a partial view of the water.

    « Best Western »

The beds were comfortable and that is the best I can say. When entering the hotel it did not have a warm feeling and was very out dated and in need of updates. We were disappointed to find that the restaurant was not open for dinner the night of our stay and we were bussed to a sister hotel which was much nicer. Honolulu Motel at the Airport. The food was very average at the best. We were given a continental breakfast which was a cup of coffee or tea with toast and fruit bowl. We ended up eating and then going out for breakfast at McDonalds. I would not at all recommend this hotel even though it was close to the airport and shuttle was provided. Next time I go back to the Vive in Honolulu.

« Wouldn't Want to Stay for More than One Night »

I stayed here overnight during a layover on my way to Australia. I chose it because it is located very close to the airport. The hotel has a high rise building and a motel-like building. My room was in the (dated) motel-like building, with rooms that open up to the outdoors (no hallway like you'd have in a hotel). My room was on the second floor. With no elevator, it was very difficult lugging our large luggage up the stairs. Also, the room faced a parking area that is adjacent to a small city street. I had a difficult time resting in the room for a few reasons. One reason is that, at some point during the night, the a/c stopped blowing cooled air and instead emitted air that was as muggy as the room. Another reason, there was noise coming from the parking area (voices from people) at late hours of the night. Additionally, the water in the toilet kept running (the kind of sound you'd hear right after flushing when the water level is getting back to normal). At one point (say at about 4 am), I began counting the number of minutes between the quiet and a new round of water noise--- not more than 10 minutes apart! Finally, the most annoying thing during my stay was the noise from the onslaught of municipal and vendor trucks that seemed to come around every 30 minutes from around 4 am throughout the morning. At first, I thought the sound was from a street sweeping truck. I accepted it and figured it would be gone and then I go back to sleep. But not long after the first bit of truck noise, I heard the loud beeping sound of a truck backing up. I am certain that I heard at least 5 different trucks come through with loud back-up beeping sounds. Perhaps they were vendors unloading supplies for the hotel??? I have no idea but it was very noisy and very early in the morning. Surprisingly, my husband was able to sleep through all the noise. So, maybe, if you're a deep sleeper you might be okay sleeping here. I was not.

    « A Nice Surprise »

A plane cancellation caused us to find a place for one night. The city bus recommended the Best Western The Plaza Hotel and delivered us right to the front door. It was between a freeway and the airport. I cannot believe how quiet it was and if we hadn't got on the flight the next day I would have continued my stay at The Plaza Hotel. Thank You for being there.

« They made the best of a troubled trip beginning »

Our plane couldn't leave LA for Honolulu due to mechanical problems. They took us all off and found a working aircraft. We didn't arrive till 2 am !!!!!! The Best Western Plaza Hotel shuttle staff picked us up, no problem !! The desk clerk was very friendly and got us a nice high room with a view. The room was very clean and odor-free. I had some important tax papers to work on and mail first thing the next morning. I only got 2 hours sleep and got up early enough to find some stamps, mail the papers, and grab the shuttle back to the airport heading for New Zealand. So I find the stamp machine in the hotel lobby and wouldn't ya know it, they're out of stamps !! I'm panicking because I don't have enough time to get to the post office and risk missing our flight. Mena and Sharon at the front desk came to my rescue !!! After hearing the story and sensing my frustration, Mena offered to take my papers to the post office that afternoon !!!!!! THANK YOU. Usually I'm not a fan of airport hotels but kudos to the staff and facility.

    « Extended stay. »

Initially our first room had cockroaches in it and if it were up to me I would have found a different hotel day one. The staff gave us a different room the next morning and it was a much better fit. There are plusses and minuses to this place, for example the restaurant is only open for dinner four days a week, the room I stayed in only had a tiny microwave and fridge stuffed in a short cupboard which also served as the table for the small flat screen. The shower is very hard to figure out, good water pressure but mostly cold. The staff is the reason I'm still here even with all the issues. Our housekeeper Mercy is generally very upbeat and welcoming each morning. She created a relaxing environment where our needs are taken care of she seems genuinely interested in making our stay better and that goes a long way.

    « Wonderful »

This is a really great hotel, especially if you've recently relocated to the area and plan to stay in one for more than a few days. Everyone is very accommodating and friendly. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job and are there if you need anything. The beds are also very comfortable and clean. Bathroom is a little small but also very clean, and the showers have great water pressure. They do have a restaurant downstairs for breakfast and dinner only. Like most hotels, it can be slightly pricey, but the food (especially breakfast) is delicious. They also have a convenience store. It's literally two seconds from the airport and the interstate, and the good news is it's not noisy. As a matter of fact, I've never heard the planes taking off. If you choose this hotel expecting Hilton or Westin type rooms, then you will dissapoint yourself, but if you choose this hotel expecting the highest quality service, comfort, and accommodations, and the friendliest staff, you will not go wrong.

    2
« No restaurant service on many days »

Every other day the restaurant does not serve meals and you must be shuttled to nearby motel. Food was good, but nothing was available until 5 PM. IF you are jet-lagged and need to eat, there is no choice. I hate to pay significantly more money for a facility that does not have an open restaurant.

    3
    « Convienance »

This hotel is great for the convenience if your working on base. Back of hotel is not great quality, which is where I was put up. Lots of trash, homeless and noisy trucks in the morning. The A/C drowns out the noise a lot though. It worked for me for the convenience, but I'd request at the main hotel next time, it's detached from the rest of the hotel and I didn't feel safe going to do my laundry at night alone.

« Convenient to the Airport! »

Close to the airport with GREAT shuttle service. The staff and front desk personnel are excellent, although check in lines frequently are long. Somehow their process is time consuming. The hotel rooms close to the highway are extraordinarily noisy! Make sure you reserve a room away from the highway and facing the airport otherwise you will not get much sleep. This is the third time I have stayed here and it is still the same....needs updating although the rooms are clean and well kept. The windows NEED to be sound proofed! The restaurant is above average with super servers. They are extremely accommodating and always with a smile! The hotel caters to military and their families. It is great to see them and we are thankful for their sacrifice.

    « Phenomenal Customer Service! »

I had the opportunity to stay here for 3 weeks for work. The best part about coming back from work? Being asked how my day was by the housekeeping staff, especially Annie. Highly recommended!

    « Two months »

I lived in this hotel for two months. I will be rating it 5 stars due to all of the employees. I had the same housekeeper, Amalia, for the entire time of our stay. She was amazing because she had to work around my kid's sleep and play schedule, which she did everyday. Also, the few times we needed something fixed the maintanance guys were here within five minutes. The ladies at rhe font desk always called when I had mail. I have watched all of them deal with irate and hateful customers with complete respect. There is a gym with free weights and cardio machines that is kept in pristine condition. The Plaza Cafe was the joy for us nightly. The staff is made up of the friendliest people you could ask for. My family will be coming back to the restaurant to see Sharon, Gemma, Ramone, and James because they are amazing at their job.

    « 2 visits, 22 nights(Dec 15) and 16 nights(Jan 16) »

This hotel is nice. It is a little on the older side, but is clean and the staff was great. Housekeeping service was outstanding, as was maintenance. When I checked in the fridge and Wi-Fi were not working. Within an hour I had a brand new fridge and working internet. Only downside is the location relative to the interstate. If you are a light sleeper the constant freeway noise might bother you. But for me it was not a bother.

« Great staff and airport location, seriously dated hotel »

Staff and airport location make this a high-potential property. The dated and dingy rooms (especially the bathrooms), make this an overall poor value and disappointing experience. The convenience store and restaurant are not open 24 hours like all airport hotels need to be. They removed the lounge years ago, and never replaced it.

« Beau is the best! »

Our plane was delayed and we had to stay an extra night ( I know, poor me, stuck in Hawaii for an extra day). Beau at the best western was very kind and understanding of our situation and gave us a very nice room. It was late and she was able to recommend a place to eat that was quite good. Overall, a very decent and quiet place to stay near the airport.

    « Great stay »

The rooms were in great condition. Very modern hotel. One aspect of my stay that I didn't expect to be as great as it was, was the service I received from my room attendant Annie. At various different times she went out of her way to ensure that my stay was as best as it could be. I will definitely return to this hotel based on her hospitality alone. Amazing attendant.

    « Not a Vacation Spot »

Easy Access to Military Installations on the Leeward side within the government rate of $177 (as of Jan 2016). A bit of a drive to fun stuff if you're on vacation (I wasn't so didn't care). The older two-story structure is very close to constant noise from Nimitz Hwy. Older, but clean well maintained rooms.

She changes bed sheets daily, removes used towels, restocks the towels organized on towel racks. The coffee pot is cleaned daily, restocks the coffee for next day, leaves a package with cream, sweeteners and coffee stirs. The room is vacuumed daily, trash cans and recycling can emptied daily, new trash can liners installed. I recommend the house keeper and the other staff members.

« Good hotel for the airport »

We had a 6 am flight back to the mainland so it made sense to stay by the airport. Unfortunately there are only two choices, the Ohana or the Plaza both of which are basic hotels. The staff were great and friendly though and while the room was quite basic, it was also clean and offered enough space for our stuff (as a family of 4 with younger kids we have regular luggage plus car seats). There is both a McDonalds as well as a strip mall (starbucks, pizza and a couple of other restaurants) around the corner should you get in late enough you need a bite. We left early so no breakfast for us. The shuttle driver was nice and we had no problems. One the bad side, the hotel is located next to an elevated freeway and the windows aren't soundproof. I'm a deep sleeper so it was quiet enough for me but I could see some being bothered with this. Overall if we needed to stay by the airport we'd definitely return.

Quality of hotel very good. I wanted something clean, quiet and these things were offered. Not close to downtown area but loved the convenience of rest/relaxation before return home. I didn't eat at the restaurants so I cannot vouch for quality

Just renewed my room here with my family. Cherae and Lan at the front desk make everything so easy for me and always check up on us. Makes us feel like we are at home. Rosendo Acob from housekeeping also always tends to our extra needs promptly. Sandra and Mina also from front desk makes our visits pleasurable that's why we always come back. There may be cheaper places to stay at, but we always come back because of the staff

« Overpriced hotel near airport »

    « Great place »

Our stay here at Best Western has been great so far. The rooms are pretty spacious, free Wi-Fi, microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. There is a gym and pool in the hotel. I just wish they had a play area for families with little children to play in. Our room attendant Annie is very friendly and a family oriented person. She made our stay feel like home away from home. The kids and I enjoy her short company. :) We love the walking distance to Mac Donald and other food places, NEX and Hickam are not that far either. Overall Best Western and it's friendly staff has done us good. :)

I have to say that this hotel staff is amazing. The staff that made my family feel at home include Mr. Les, Mrs. Beau, Ms. Lan, and Mr. James. Me and my family have no issues with the hotel and I would definitely stay here every time. The staff here are very professional and have alot of information that the guess can use. To think about it, I don't feel like a guess here at all. Me and my family actually feel like we are with family here. This the best hotel that I have ever stayed in, hands down.

« Front Desk Staff make any Hotel Great »

I have used this hotel, Best Western the Plaza for all my business trip over the last 4 years. The staff, especially Rose and Beau, at the Front Desk are simply incredible. They go beyond normal to make sure all your needs are met, not to mention their happy, helpful and fun personalities. Their welcome to everyone if infectious. I look forward to seeing the 2 of them every trip. The location of the hotel to the airport, where I conduct the business end of my trips, is perfect and still very convenient for all other foray out and about. I can't ask for any more except longer stay in Hawaii :) Thanks Rose and Beau.

« Noisy, but Good Location »

Many positives of this hotel: near McDonald's, clean rooms (only one cockroach in the sink), helpful management, nice pool area, good restaurant and gift shop on site, within walking distance of several small local restaurants and a Starbucks, near the public bus stop, and reliable airport shuttle. The negatives included: no elevators to all floors, noisy rooms, since it is near a big highway, and limited pool hours. Take bug spray for pool time at dawn or dusk. Also, the restaurant is not open every day, so check at the desk.

    « Great Service »

I want to recognize Cheral who treated us so nicely when we checked in. After an ordeal at the rental car office, I was not in a good mood. Cheral recognized that and showed tremendous empathy and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.. Later, she gave us excellent recommendations for activities near by and for a great and reasonable seafood restaurant also nearby called Nico's. Go there before 5pm as it gets busy. Parking was attached and is priced according to your Best Western status. Ours cost $15. McDonald's right around the corner. Thank you Cheral!!!

« The staff is what makes it great! »

Our room was located on the side closest to the highway, so needless to say it was very noisy. But what made up for it was the service and care from the hotel staff on everything we needed. If you get the chance to stay here, be sure to ask for Cherae at the Front Desk. She provides impeccable service! Very warm and welcoming. She even provided us with $40 in meal coupons for the hotel restaurant after she has made a small error on our paperwork. Would certainly stay again, and you should too!

« Old, shabby and loud »

We spent one night here on our way to Kauai. The service was fine and the Restaurant was good but the room was in serious need of updating. It was also rather loud at times as other guests walked down the hall talking. We didn't get a great nights sleep.

    « close to airport »

These is a good value if you want to stay near the airport. The room was large, clean, and had good internet. The building is a little old so you will hear people in the neighboring rooms, especially in the bathroom. Also, there can be a significant amount of noise from the lower and elevated highway.

    3
    « Close to airport »

Chose to stay here as we had an early flight. Room was fine for a one-night stay. The bed was kind of small for two. The road noise was a bit loud. Okay for an overnight but probably not an extended stay. The bus driver was exceptionally sweet and helpful.

    « Hospitality »

My stay at Best Western was awesome! My son and I stayed a month and I have no complaints. I really appreciate the hospitality of Lan, Charae and Mena! I hope I spelled their names correctly, however, these ladies were present when I needed help the most and were of great assistance!

    4
    « Great location »

We needed one night near the airport as we could not make a same day connection, so we booked the BW Best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the airport (but noise was not an issue for us!) and the free airport shuttle. When we arrived we easily found the hotel phones in the baggage claim area and were promptly picked up and taken to the hotel. Check-in was quick and easy and the room was clean and tidy; what more could you want. We did not try any on-site facilities as we arrived late and left early, but I'm sure the hotel would be sufficient for a few days. All in all, exactly what we wanted at a fair price!

    5
    « Needed Rest »

My family of 4 had a restful day at this hotel on our way to NZ. The room was quiet and the beds comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help us on Christmas eve. We were there from 10 pm to 7 pm and allowed to use their fitness room and lobby internet. We stored our luggage and hopped the bus outside the door for a beach day in Waikiki. The shuttle was quick and relaxing. The cheerful welcome was needed and appreciated. Great stop over hotel. We will be back.

She interacts with my 3 kids they just adore her. she also makes sure that we have everything that we need. she makes staying here worth it as well as the rest of the staff here. you don't normally fid a staff that knows your name cause most people dont care to know but Amalia knows all of our names and I think thats a plus. I recommend anyone to stay here and if you want just some one who you can talk to and makes sure that you are comfortable and the sweetest person that you will meet I say try to get Amalia's floor. I cant say enough about her, but all the staff here are so nice and sweet they are always happy. Mahalo!

    « Personal Service »

The employees here go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I have been to hotels around the world from flea traps to two hundred dollars a night and I have never been made to feel as at home as these people made me feel. I want to give out a special comment for the front desk clerks Lan, Cherae, and Mena. They looked out for me and my family as if they were their own. I can't wait to come back here.

« Short visit but great impression »

We only had a very short over. The staff were very accomodating and made sure we had a pleasant stay and rest. The room was comfortable and very close to the airport. The restaurant downstairs had a good hearty breakfast on the menu that helped full our empty bellies.

« Central Spot to Post Up for Business »

Traveling to Oahu for business and you need something central on the island, the Best Western Plaza is a good choice . Close to the airport and close to freeway access, you can easily go in all directions on the island. About 15 min to get into town and 45 to get to the North Shore. Rooms are kept clean and the cleaning staff is courteous and helpful. Mercy kept my room spotless. Food is close by. A McDonalds is just around the corner if you don't to eat at the restaurant but if you want local food just walk a little further and there is a L&L restaurant. Overall just a good place to stay.

« Amazing Staff and willing to work with guest »

I came to Hawaii 3 years ago and had the opportunity to stay at the Best Western Plaza on Nimitz. I was very unfamiliar with Hawaii, but the staff was extremely helpful and welcome to myself and my family. They made us feel at home as much as possible. The courtesy, knowledge and the willingness to always be helpful from the staff Cherae, Mena and Lan made my family and me feel as if we were part of theirs. The Hotel has its things that can improve, but the staff all in itself is the best I had to be around. I recommend staying at the Best Western if you want to be welcomed with open arms. They are also a Pet Friendly hotel which for animals lovers who want to bring their furry friends along will definitely enjoy the staffs love for them as well. Thanks for the great stay and the time we had there.

« Our First Hawaii Visit »

This hotel was good and the service was excellent. The hotel is very close to the airport; however, it is quiet and you can't hear the planes landing. You are not directly in the hustle of Waikiki but you are not that far from it. It is centrally located and close to the various bases, exchange and commissary for military personnel. This hotel is also close to Pearl Harbor and the stadium. The people that work here are very nice and accommodating, especially Mercy and Fely.

« Our stay at the Best Western the Plaza Inn was wonderful! »

We're just finishing up a two week stay at this hotel because of a recent move to Hawaii. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kind. Every staff member we came across was so great. Our housekeeper, Mercy, was especially amazing! Every time she cleaned she would organize my two years olds toys nice and nearly on her bed and that was just so special and sweet. The maintenance man, Sam I think it was? Was also so kind. We got my little girl a new bubble gun without realizing it took a screw driver to open the battery compartment and of course, I didn't happen to have a screw driver laying around in my hotel room. So I asked the front desk if maybe they had anything to open it and they kindly called the maintenance man to help which he kindly did. I couldn't have had a better experience here and I'd definitely come back and recommend it to anyone.

« Great place for visiting or TLA! »

We stayed here while waiting for a house. It wasn't long, but we were impressed by everyone and everything (except maybe the pancakes lol). If you are moving, contact Les for their TLA rate. Ours included two dogs and parking, so it didn't have to come out of pocket. Others' without dogs have included meal vouchers I hear. Speaking of pets, their pet rooms are all tile and have easy access to the grassy walking area, which is clean and not gross at all. They even have a poo bag and trash stand for your convenience. We started in a room with 2 doubles but they moved us to a king when it became available at our request, no problems. The rooms are current and immaculate. One set of rooms (against the highway) are a bit loud seeming due to traffic, but the hotel provided ear plugs on the nightstands - not that we needed them. The staff are all super nice and went above and beyond to please everyone. The location may not be fancy and downtown, but it is centrally located to PH/Hickam, AMR, Shafter, and Triple so travel was a breeze. The only negative is that they don't have luggage trolleys, so be prepared to make multiple trips to/from your room if you have a lot. I would recommend this place hands down if you are PCSing in or just need a place close to the airport.

« Friendly Staff and Service »

We have been in the hotel for about a week now and the staff here are SOOO friendly! Our Room Attendant, Mercy, is always smiling and makes sure we get what we need to have a clean and pleasant stay in the room! I would most definitely recommend staying here when you come to Oahu!

« Hotel Close to Airport with Shuttle »

We stayed for four nights, we were upgraded to a suite. Very close to Airport and highway. Ear plugs are provided in your room for your convenience. We did not use ours. This hotel is used my many military family's waiting for housing. Small outdoor pool and exercise room at this hotel. Restaurant onsite but no free breakfast at this location. We were told at booking, as Military members we would receive $10 food voucher daily but on arrival were denied as we did not book via the Military Liaison. A loss of revenue to the restaurant without the vouchers, we went next store for Breakfast at McDonalds. Free airport shuttle. Small outdoor pool and exercise room at this location. Staff at front desk and house keeping friendly and helpful.

« Review, The Plaza Hotel »

My thanks again to the staff of the Plaza Hotel. I remember especially Mena, Charae, Chandra, and the front desk staff, as well as the Kunai store and housecleaning. To all my big "mahalo" for a pleasant time. The room was very clean, quiet, and with good views of the city and surrounding Oahu areas. Using the hotel garage was very convenient as I could drive around the island easily from the entrance to Nimitz Highway. Above all, I want to thank everyone there for your Hawaiian hospitality and friendly service. It does help me to feel like family when I visit.

« Great hotel, far from the touristy area »

This hotel is very close to HNL airport, just minutes... Saying that, it is an easy 30 minute plus drive to Downtown Honolulu and longer to Waikiki Beach area. However, the hotel was a great stay for on business. Easy access to Nimitz Blvd. and the H1 freeway. If your military, there is a NEX shoppette pretty much across Nimitz from the hotel. And, the Pearl Harbor NEX and commissary complex is only about 2 miles away. The hotel itself looks dated, but my room was clean, the bed comfy and the wifi worked great. There is a gift shop in the lobby & an attached restaurant. There area looks shady, but we walked to many of restaurants within a block or two and had no issues. Many of the locals we passed even greated us. There is even a Starbucks a block away. The staff was amazing, both friendly & professional.

    « Outstanding service »

The hotel is close to the airport, While there are no restaurants close by, the service at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The shuttle bus driver picked me up at the car rental return and took us close to the departure check-in area for the particular airline that we were using. The desk clerk was also very helpful.

    « Thank you Mercy »

My friend and I stayed a few weeks and had the most excellent housekeeping service. Our housekeeper Mercy was professional and always greeted us with a friendly smile. We were not the most cleanest 20 year olds during our stay, but she had the room clean and smelling great every evening we came home. Thank you for making our stay great!

« Ideal location for an overnight stop between flights »

We stayed here when travelling from Vancouver to Tahiti. It's very convenient being so close to the airport and they have a very good shuttle service. The room was spacious, clean and bright. The hotel staff we met were all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here if we needed an overnight stop again.

    « Great night's sleep »

In 1988 I was on my way to Guam and stayed at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel. The place was comfortable, the staff was very accommodating, and all other areas of customer service were exceptional. In 2015 I was on my way to Kwajalein and had to overnight (a 7-hour layover) in Honolulu between flights. I stayed at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel again, wondering if my experience would be the same. The place was again comfortable, the staff was very accommodating, and all other areas of customer service were exceptional. Next time I have a short layover in Honolulu would I choose the same hotel? You bet! It's only minutes from the airport, the shuttle runs every half hour, the staff is glad to see you, my bed was very comfortable...

« Long Term Stay at the Plaza Hotel »

Am a frequent traveler and I travel to HI constantly. This year, was the third time I go for a long stay (73 days) at the BW the Plaza on Nimitz Hwy. When am there, I feel at home. From the moment I interact with the front desk folks (Cherae, Sharon, Mena, etc) to the moment I get to my room and I know it is going to be clean (Grace and Amalia are the best!). Afterwards, in the afternoon, I can enjoy an amazing dinner and a glass of wine at the restaurant and I know I will be treated well by Ramon, Mike, or Techie. Do not hesitate to stay at this wonderful place with folks that will treat you like family.

    « Great stay »

My dad had an emergency surgery, and being that we were from the outer island, after being discharged from the hospital, we were sent to the best western to continue his recovery before heading back to Maui. To our surprise we enjoyed our stay. Very simple hotel with the service you would expect. Our housekeeper Madeline was awesome, very attentive and made our situation less stressful for our family by assisting in any way She could. Thank you to the rest of the staff as well.

    « Better than Ever »

I love this hotel, great management, great staff. Continues to get better every year. User friendly, there is a restaurant, small store, laundry, and the cleanest rooms on the Island, and parking. 10 minutes to the base, 17 minutes to Waikiki, 1 hr 20 minutes to North Shore. Free shuttle bus so you can turn in the rent-a-car the night before you fly out. Shuttle runs 24/7 every 30 minutes. What else do you want? I looked for snobs and couldn't find even 1. The are Sailors, Marines, and Air Force staying here too. Buy one a drink or 2.

    5
    « Welcome back »

On checking in to the hotel we were greeted by Ms. Sharon and she welcomed us back and gave us a room on the east side of the hotel facing the city of Honolulu and Diamond head mountain. The last time we were here was 3 years ago and Sharon still remembered us. We have always stayed at this Hotel when we visit family in Hawaii for the past 28 years. Ms. Sharon kept a eye out for us during our 16 day visit that made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. This hotel is very close to the airport that makes it ideal for outer Island travel.

« Nice place to visit »

Very good housekeeping by Mercy. Close to shopping and not to far from the beach. Plenty of places to dine at. Can be a little noisy being close to the highway but not too bad. Can't complain. Rental car places are right next door with shuttles to and from the airport.

« Not too pricey for what you get! »

My family and I stayed here for 10 days on a PCS move off island. It is conveniently located by Hickam AFB. Room was clean. There was a small wait on the room attached to ours for our kids but they opened it up soon after. My kids are all preteens and they gave us extra cots since they do not like sleeping together. Bathrooms are kind of small but clean. For the price it was okay. The gym is on top floor and has enough equipment to get a work out in. Free weights, elliptical, treadmill, universal workout machine, bike, and yoga area. Everything was stocked up like towels and cups for the water machine. It overlooks tripler area. The pool is very clean and has a lot of seating. Sadly it was raining most of the 10 days but our girls still swam. The best part about the hotel is the parking. You park in the garage near an elevator. As I watched others at nearby hotels running in the rain to their cars parked outside I was thankful for the convenient parking garage. We had a great maid, named Amelia. She was very kind to us and didnt mind restocking towels and stuff for the kids. She was very friendly to the kids. The store downstairs is a little pricey but we would just drive to the shoppette if we needed anything (also NEX mall right down the road). The lobby is nice with a computer and printer that was great for me since I needed to print homework. The wifi in the rooms was fast. Im not sure if the people complaining about slow connection went onto bestwestern.com and put in the password. If you only click on best western through your wifi you will get slow internet so remember to log in on your internet browser also. About the room. Smaller TV but we are use to a 60inch. It worked. Buying movies on demand is nuts $12.99 to rent it. We bought a cheap DVD player and rented redbox movies. The beds are a little hard but slept fine. The A/C is amazing!!!! Gets so cold if you like that. There is a small fridge and microwave. The restaurant is not the best. High priced for not so great food but we have lived here for a few years and have had amazing food so it was disappointing. You do get $10/per person vouchers for food a day so that helps for breakfast (breakfast is not free). We drove to other areas to eat and bought food to make in hotel. We made it work. The shuttle to the airport is convenient and runs every 30min. Do bring a few ones to tip the driver for dealing with your bags. We didnt know this and had no cash. The front desk is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

    « " Great Service" »

This hotel offers great room service and easy manageable timing for when room service comes. You simply let them know when you'll be gone and they do everything in the time they are given. The lady who came to our room Mekey left the room perfectly clean everytime. Very helpful employees at lobby personally helped me with bus schedule. Also provides a perfect location for military people.

    « Helpful Staff »

After my sister was released from the hospital, we spent 3 nights at this hotel. What made our stay memorable was the kindness of the staff, especially front desk personnel Mena and Cecelia the convenience store clerks and the kind housekeeping staff. With my sister needing wheelchair and prompt transportation, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were well cared for. Many thanks and much aloha to everyone at the Best Western.

    « No to bad »

I had to go to Honolulu to work. I was booked at a hotel in downtown Waikiki and did not want to fight traffic to go to work and again in the evening getting off work. So I changed my reservation to The Plaza. I was at the Best Western for a month. Not to many things in walking distance but there is plenty around if you have a car. Parking was on the pricey side at $30 a night. The restaurant downstairs was nice and had pretty good food. Staff is nice. Rooms were clean. Can be noisy due to the fact you are between the express way and airport. All and all not a bad stay.

    5
    « Great Service »

Very nice and polite personnel working throughout the hotel. Everyone seemed to go out of there way to help you or assist you. Was able to check in early and had a very nice room on the 10th floor. Could still hear traffic on the H1/Nimitz highway but was not bad enough to worry about. Shuttle service to the airport was fast and leaves every hour and half hour. Price beats staying down on the beach (downtown)..

    « Functional »

There are many "considerations" that come with staying in Hawaii. Yes, goods cost more because of the shipping/freight involved in getting things there but it is obvious that retailers and service providers take advantage of this when possible. This hotel has, quite possibly, the most limited TV channel selection I have experienced in years. This would not be very important if this property was located in Waikiki or some other interesting area yet there is NOTHING near here but the airport. Based on my initial breakfast I would have given the restaurant a very low score (2 eggs , a scoop of hash, some potatoes for 18 bucks and change). It redeemed itself a little on my last day with some tasty eggs benedict. Still, it pales next to the free breakfast I receive at every other BW I frequent (including those with restaurants). The internet is extremely slow and sometimes the router goes down. When calling the front desk in the evening, the person did not even know where the router was located. The parking, while an insult to be charged, usually has space available....if you are driving a subcompact. You're better off parking against the wall because management is trying to milk three spots in place of two. The water temp is hit or miss and will change in the middle of your shower...and back again. The front desk staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. My bed was very comfortable and the room temp controls were very effective. Just stay out of the direct shot from the vent when using the AC. This hotel is priced right at the cost of 3 star hotels near Waikiki but without the obvious advantage of being there.

« Only if you only need somewhere to sleep near the airport »

Arrived after nine, no food, no bar, not even a mini bar. Bed comfortable and at least there was a shuttle from the airport. Needed just a cheap overnight and for that it served its purpose. But I wouldn't use this place again and recommend that you find someplace else, even for an overnight.

    4
    « Good stay »

Good place to stay. Near airport. Has frequent shuttle. Bus driver very helpful. City bus at door. Easy to get downtown but long by bus (1 hr.). Front desk stuff very helpful and willing to offer suggestion. Only downside is that property is getting a little long in the tooth. It's location right next to an elevated freeway is very unattractive but minimal freeway noise in the room. Many local food outlets.

    « Convenient to Airport - Comfortable »

If comfort and convenience for the price is what you are looking for this is the right hotel for you. Located near the airport and within a block from car rental return locations, this is the perfect spot to wake up early to get to the airport. Clean and nice accommodations. The bathrooms are bit on the small side but you can't beat the price.

« The Lovely People Who Work There »

From the time I arrived, five hours later than expected, the staff were AMAZING!! All of them were very polite and helpful. Anything that I needed, from places close to eat something unique to a bottle opener to open the wine I had just bought in the store, they were there to help. When I would be picky and ask for multiple laundry bags because I had WAY to many clothes to wash, and then be willing to change my bills out for quarters, the staff was always willing to put up with me. I want to give a special shout out to Mercy! She was the housekeeper who cleaned my room during my three week stay and she did an AMAZING job! She had a lot to put up with as I am a beginning hiker and would come back to the room less than pristine. :) Another plus I had with the room were the fridge and microwave and the cabinet as it became a sort of pantry throughout my stay. Once you get the roads down the hotel is situated in a very good location. I was able to get wherever I wanted to go quickly and efficiently; and as it is really near to the airport, Naval memorials and historical sites, Honolulu, and Waikiki you can't get much better than it to strike a perfect balance between work and play.

« Good option close to airport »

This hotel is an excellent choice for travelers going through the Honolulu airport, with an overnight stay. The Plaza hotel clearly specializes in accommodating these kinds of travelers, providing on-call airport pick up and scheduled drop offs every 30 minutes. We stayed at another airport hotel, and while they had the same transportation options, for the same price, The Plaza is a much nicer hotel. Rooms are quiet, well-apportioned, and have comfortable beds. Compared to other Best Western hotels I've stayed at, this hotel is much higher quality. Conveniently located at the airport, and walkable to a few restaurants, Stabucks, and convenience store, as well as public transportation.

    « Military Friend »

Just spent 9 night there on a business trip. The hotel was very clean and the staff and service was outstanding. It was very military friendly hotel. It is located in prime location to most of the major military bases. The only downside is it is located next to the freeway so the noise could be and issue. Highly recommend this hotel for your next visit to Hawaii.

    « Wonderful Staff »

I loved my time here, they have amazing food, the location is great, and our Room Attendant Mercy was great. My room was always cleaned to perfection! « Very handy for the airport but in terrible need of a facelift »

We stayed here overnight between an international flight and a connection to Maui. The hotel itself is a stones throw from the airport and there is a very quick free shuttle service. It is quite expensive for what you get and looks like it was last decorated in the early 90s. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. Unfortunately the raised freeway is right next to the hotel and so some rooms are quite noisy. As it is so easy for the airport I would stay here again but just overnight. The hotel really needs to sort itself out and update. I do not imagine people will put up with the high prices and for decoration for much longer.

    « OK hotel - not a great location »

I stayed at the hotel because the timing for a business trip changed at the last moment and all of the Waikiki hotels were booked except for those in the extreme price range. The location isn't great if you come to Hawaii and hope to be near anything nice (like the beach, shops or decent restaurants). The Nimitz highway was underneath my window and noisy 24/7. (hence the free earplugs). The area around the hotel looks industrial. While location is not a selling point, the staff were very friendly and managed to find me a room when I arrived several hours before check in. Although old, the room was spacious, very clean and had everything I needed (minus a safe). There was enough parking space at the times when I returned each day. As a last minute option for business it was ok.

    5
    « Great Place »

We've been at this location for a little over a week now and the service has been great so far! The staff is wonderful, very polite. CHERAE provided outstanding customer service and was super gracious in meeting my needs. All of the staff were courteous and respectful and moved quickly with the line during check in. Originally I was given two beds but as a really tall person I needed a king bed. The staff was able to meet my needs. When staying here I went to The Plaza Cafe and got an awesome breakfast.. stay here for friendly and superior service.

    « Book Elsewhere! »

This hotel was terrible. The service was terrible. The rooms were terrible. The atmosphere was terrible. The air conditioner was broken and the maintenance did not fix it and we were left to freeze with two babies under the age of two. The hotel is SO expensive and did not offer any restaurant services in its facility on the night we checked in. Yet the hotel charged $200 USD for one night stay. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Will NEVER stay here again

« The Staff Is Amazing! »

The staff here is so wonderful, the welcome is so warm and delightful. It started from the front Ms. Mena & Mr. Lorenzo. Mr. Lorenzo has the best conversation & is very knowledgeable about the island from entertainment to restaurants. I couldn't have been escorted by a better person. Ms. Mena has a very genuine consideration for all that comes through the door she took the time to show and explain the bus route to me on her off work time. She would even go as far asking me how my day is whenever she sees me. I can tell she is truly a gentle spirit the hotel is blessed to have her.

After an airline cancellation, I called to see if they had any rooms. The reservationist encouraged me to get a voucher, but I opted for avoiding the 3 hour wait and paying for a room. The reservationist sent a shuttle over to the airport very quickly. The driver was helpful and informative. The desk staff were accommodating and helpful. The room was recently renovated and in good condition. It was overall a very good experience at this Best Western.

One of the biggest rooms for the price. Exceeds Waikiki Courtyard Marriott. Stayed away from the traffic in Honolulu and Waikiki and enjoyed a nicer room for the price with no hassle parking. I have stayed at the Aqua Surf, Ala Moana, and Marriott Courtyard. This Best Western had a larger room and the services were the same or better for the same price or lower

Stayed here on our last night on the Island as it is very near airport with free shuttle service. Good choice, though without the usual breakfast option. « Great Customer Service »

I arrived into HNL for a connection flight that I had missed. As a direct result, I had to overnight in HNL. I chose the Best Western TPH for my stay as it was close to the airport. My first impression, GREAT customer service. Thank you to the entire team - specifically CHERAE. She was a blast of energy from the moment I walked through the front door. All-in-all, the price was a little higher than what I wanted to pay, but the property, location and staff were all great. Another strong point for me was the fact that the bus stop was steps away from the front door of the hotel. This made it very easy to visit Waikiki Beach and Shopping area.

    « Awesome staff! »

This hotel is somewhat older in appearance, but they make up for it with amenities and an amazing staff! We are currently staying at the hotel while in transit to moving to the island for the Army. Everyone at the hotel has been so welcoming and friendly. they seem to genuinely care about the guests. I worked in the hotel industry for over 10 years and my favorite thing is the little things the staff does to make you feel welcome. The front desk ensured that we knew about our $40 a day meal vouchers for using their military TLA program. The various waitresses and waiters always seat us quickly and are so kind to our children. They even offer us coffee to go in the mornings when we are wrapping up our breakfast. The housekeeper, Amalia, was so sweet when cleaning our room. She even arranged all of the baby toys neatly in the crib and made up my son's bed with his special blanket! We will be at this hotel for almost two months and I am so glad that I did not listen to others to go to a "fancier" hotel downtown!

Very convenient location near Airport with a wonderful front desk crew. I was told we were given an upgrade but that it was next to freeway level. Arrived room and had DP Pushbutton door....with all the baggage it really helped! Photo shows their positive care they provide to to their clients. Slept well, left early with shuttle and caught cold on return flight. Great Vacation! Ps....Photo is ear plugs with greeting card-Yowsaa!!

    « Airport Shuttle »

The airport shuttle is iffy at best, especially if you arrive late at night. I had to wait one hour even after calling the hotel and been told the bus was on its way. It takes 10 minutes and I waited more than 30 minutes. This is a airport hotel, bus shuttle should be sharp.

The hotel is centrally located, there are several eateries are all within the walking distance which made this place very convenient. The front desk reception are all very friendly, a good value for your money.

This hotel is so conveniently located to the Honolulu Airport. (No noise problem at all.) Free shuttle service to and from airport. Simple walk across the street to get city buses to Waikiki beach area, huge shopping area, or Pearl Harbor. Extremely helpful and competent staff.

« Very convenient for Honolulu Airport »

We only stayed in this hotel for one night as we were travelling from the UK and picking up our grandaughter who lives in Oahu to go onto our vacation in Maui the next morning. On arrival at Honolulu airport, we used the free phone to call the Hotel, who advised us to catch the free shuttle, which they provide and was waiting outside, it took us straight to the hotel. The receptionists were very friendly. We had breakfast, which was lovely, in the morning, then was taken back to the airport in their shuttle to catch our flight to Maui. There isn't much of a view from the window as it is on an industrial park, but we found it very convenient for our purpose to getting to the airport. We would stay there again.

My daughter and I had to fly to Honolulu Oct. 5th to visit a dying relative, so our trip was not for pleasure. The desk staff, especially Cealia, at the Best Western plaza hotel went above and beyond their duties to serve our needs. They were very very friendly, warm and caring individuals. They took exceptional care of our physical and emotional needs. I truly believe they were angels sent by God to carry us through our difficult time. We are very grateful and appreciative of the way they went out of their duties to lighten our burden. Thank you Cealia

    « Covenient friendly hotel »

We stayed at the Best Western Plaza for our first few nights in Hawaii, as we arrived late in Honolulu, and planned on seeing a few local attractions before leaving on a cruise. The shuttle picked us up promptly at the airport and the very friendly driver quickly delivered us to the hotel. The hotel is well worn (carpets and furniture), and well used by travelers and military, because of it's location next to the airport, in an industrial park. It suited our purposes though, with car rentals just a short walk from the hotel. We were on the top floor which was a little warm (as Hawaii was having a heat wave due to tropical storms). The room was always cleaned and the WiFi worked okay. The staff were very friendly, especially Cherae and Mena who helped out on a few occasions, including obtaining a shuttle to the cruise ship, and directions to the USS Arizona, which was nearby. We ate in the hotel's restaurant once, which was overpriced for what you were served. Overall, our stay was very pleasant

    « OK airport hotel »

We arrived on a flight from big island and had to fly back to LA very early in the morning so we searched a hotel on or near the airport of honolulu. There are only 2 properties 2 choose from and based on reviews we took the best western. Rate was quite high, but its Honolulu. Checkin was very friendly. The room is basic but clean. There is an outside pool onsite. Wifi was acceptable with a good speed. If you want to visit Waikiki yuo have to take the bus which stops just outside near the reception.

« Best hotel in Hawaii »

We are a Coast Guard family on orders here in Hawaii. Due to a last minute switch in travel plans, the CG put us in the Best Western. Glad they did because the staff here is top-notch. They are warm, welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help. The restaurant staff is amazing as well, and the cooks are fantastic. Cherae at the Front Desk is the coolest staff member around. We consider her our culinary expert as she has given the best recommendations to all the local food joints around here. We have tried everything she told us to and have not been disappointed. We are recommending this hotel to all of our family and friends when they come to visit us. Thank you so much Best Western for welcoming us to Hawaii in true Ohana fashion!

« Convenient for a short layover stop »

My room was nothing special, but was clean. I was in Hawaii for less than 12 hours, so really just wanted a place to sleep and shower. I appreciated the free and convenient shuttle (that arrived quickly after I called them from the bank of phones in the baggage claim area). The driver was friendly and helpful. If you did want to go down to Waikiki, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel that will take you there cheap (if you don't have a car). Wifi was decent. There was a pool, but I didn't use it. I did use the fitness room, which was bigger/had more than expected. Cardio machines, free weights, bench, medicine balls, a machine, and a few other things, plus water, towels, and a TV. There was the restaurant on site (or via free shuttle at the sister hotel), a McDonald's RIGHT next door, and then a series of "fast" food places (Starbucks, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, Jamba Juice, Ninja Sushi, a pizza/Italian place, a Blimpies, and maybe one more) a block away - a super easy walk.

The Staff was definitely very professional and did not hesitate to go beyond customer's expectation. The location was ideal for me, but might not be for those who have difficulty to sleep, as it is close to hwy and HNL airport. Overall I personally had a great experience with all the staff; mahalo to all of you!

« Close to Airport, Nice, Big Clean Rooms »

Our room was not ready when we arrived, however it was a bit early (about 20 minutes before check-in time) we were able to do all the paperwork and come back for room keys later. There is on site parking, which was convenient except you have to get your ticket validated BEFORE you leave the property. This hotel is RIGHT next too the highway, surprisingly once in the room, unless you have the window open you don't hear much of the traffic noise. The rooms are big and clean and had everything we needed....the furnishings are a little outdated (low to the ground beds) but felt kind of tropical to the region. We enjoyed having the on-site restaurant there the first night we arrived, since we were tired from traveling and had to be up early for a conference the following morning. The menu selections were limited and the prices seemed a bit high, but the taste was there. Loved the on-site gift shop and found the prices reasonable and even lower than some of the other "souvenir" shops we visited. Found the staff to be "available" but not overly friendly. Overall a good stay and would probably return.
