Only spent one night here thankfully! Obviously their vaccum cleaners all broke months ago and havent been replaced. Visible dirt and trash on the floors of the lobby, hallways, and in room. Kept sooks on the whole time to prevent my feet from touching all the dirt. Sheets thin and scratchy. Airconditioner in room moved air but didnt cool anything. Not sure what the problem lies but obviously the managers really dont care.
One of the best hotels I've stayed at. Clean room and very comfortable beds. Would definitely stay here again. I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff and attendants are very professional and friendly.
We stayed at this hotel while visiting friends in hondo. The hotel was clean and the amenities were good. On Saturday morning when the breakfast area was overflowing. The staff opened the meeting room to allow for more seats. The food was plentiful and good. The room was good. Nice new 42 LCD TV with direct tv as the provider. We were able to watch all of the college ball teams we follow. The bed was comfy and pillows nice. We had a room on the front of the hotel and occasionally we could hear the local train whose tracks are across the highway from the hotel. It didn't bother us, but if you are a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room on the backside of the hotel. The entrance is a little tricky. The hotel sits back behind a fast food place so you need to be on the lookout for the hotel driveway. Was sportier at night just drive slow. We wound definitely stay there again !
Amazing staff, pretty good breakfast, and very clean! Helped me when I checked in after a terrible stay at another hotel. They helped me book at midnight from another horrible hotel. Super helpful and affordable, cant say enough positive about this place!!!!!!!
I hate to ramble on for 200 characters when there isn't much positive to say. I will start with the positive. The bed was really comfortable. Other than that it was middle of the road to down right disappointing. The ac was not turned on so the room was really hot, the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned. The cable wasn't hooked up properly and the fridge was not cooling. I am sure this was still probably the best place to stay in Hondo as there was not much there.

We arrived and the couldn't find our reservanton, instead of sending us somewhere else they gave us a room and for cheaper than the original price. When we left my card was declining and they told us not to worry about it and they would try again later in the week.
The hotel staff and hotel were excellent. The hotel appears to be fairly new and well cared for. The a/c blew nice and cold, the room was clean and had a pleasant smell. The only issue we had, was that we reserved a king bed and when we checked in we were given a room with two queen beds. We checked in late and I didn't feel like going back downstairs to try and correct the situation. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel.
The property is set back off the road and easy to miss. This is a three story building. Everything is clean and well appointed. Room was pretty stark with one abstract over the desk with no other pictures...looked tailored, masculine, business-like. Bed was comfortable but pillows could be upgraded. I would stay here again.
We initially booked rooms at this Best Western with the understanding that we would book elsewhere if the hotel did not meet our expectations. However, our experience was so pleasant, that we extended our stay into a second week. We found the hotel to be extremely clean, which is a must in my book. The lobby and common areas were kept quite clean. The bathrooms in our rooms were immaculate! The bedding was clean, as was the floor. The first week, we had a room at the back of the hotel (odd numbered room), which was very quiet. The second week, we had a room at the front of the hotel (even numbered room) and could hear some of the street traffic, but the white noise from the AC/Heat mostly blocked it. Breakfast in the morning had several options: eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, gravy, make your own waffles, cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc. Breakfast staff made sure to keep the area stocked in the mornings so they never ran out of anything. Free breakfast for 6 people every morning was a huge savings for our family! The staff was so very friendly - the purpose of our travel was very stressful, but the staff went above and beyond to tend to our needs and extend kindness to us. I cannot express how appreciative we were for their helpfulness - they represented their community and the hotel well. If ever we are back in the area, we will be staying at this Best Western. As I have never stayed at a Best Western previously, it is now an option I will be exploring for future travels - I just hope they can meet the high standards of this Best Western!
Very nice hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful and attentive. We had planned on a three night stay, but a change in plans cut our trip short. Staff was helpful in getting me checked out early.
good value. I couldn't figure out how to make the shower work. Several fast food places including McD's easy walk & excellent restaurant (Herman Son's) about 1 mile but no walkway. The review has to be too long so next time will skip bothering.
The hotel in Hondo ,Texas was a very pleasing experience. The appearance of the hotel was pleasing to the eye, should look even better when they finish the exterior paint. The lobby was can enable and Sally was very knowledgeable and got us set up for our next stay in El Paso, Tx.The room with king bed was really pleasing to the eye.Nice decor and the bathroom marble counter top beautiful.Bed was very comfortable n got a good rest over nite. The breakfast was also very good selection of food. You don't leave hungry. The Orange juice was the real stuff Would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like good unites rest.
this hotel look very nice and new and everyone was so nice and helpful. The entire place was spotless and the beds were so comfy. I went ahead and booked my next three stay. I love the area too. there is a Walmart and a McDonald very close incase you need to get anything for you trip.
We were here to visit friends and the location was good for us. it was a nice room on the ground floor and the breakfast was good.It did have a cobweb in the corner of the ceiling but the rest of the room was clean.
Our group stays here every year for the opening weekend of dove season. Great hotel and great service from all of the staff. Women at front desk allowed our group to bring lunch and beers into the breakfast area to watch the game as a group. Extremely cool.
A clean comfortable place to stay when traveling. Great comfortable bed and is very quiet. Staff is very friendly. Have hstayed in this location many times and wuld not hesutate to book another room at this location.
This was a very nice hotel. The staff was so nice it was board line annoying. The fire alarm throughout the hotel did go off at 4 in the morning waking everyone up. Someone prepping the breakfast burnt something. I didn't think it would be fair to leave a bad review for an accident. I'm sure it won't happen again.
Room smelled like incense. Stains on the chair and staff was friendly but unhelpful. Missing shower curtain. The staff just seem uneasy answering questions as though they don't know the answer. I stayed here before and it was better. I would probably drive from san Antonio or castroville then stay here again.
Happy that Hondo finally has a nice hotel. Clean, well designed property with amenities (fitness, pool). Pleasantly surprised to find this hotel in a small town. And appreciate Best Western's bereavement rate as we were in town for a family funeral.
When we travel into Hondo we always stay here, we always enjoy our stay and if we need anything or have an issue Rose is always willing to help or do what she can with a smile on her face. Best western has the best employee around!
My daughter and I spent a night at the Best Western Hondo Inn this past weekend. Rose registered us with no problem whatsoever. She was helpful in giving directions as requested. She's efficient and as sweet as can be. The free breakfast was great. The lady who cleans and restocks the breakfast area was so sweet. She deserves every tip she receives....you do leave a tip, uh? There were waffles, cheese omelets, bagels, various breads, fruit, gravy, sausages, bacon, cereals, juices, coffee, etc. The room was clean and comfortable. On our way home we took a trip through the hill country. The scenery is breathtaking. Such an enjoyable trip! In fact, we've booked a night for next month!
Lady behind counter and taking of breakfast items were extremely rude and condescending. I am a diamond member and don't think I have ever been treated like this at a hotel, especially a Best Western.
The room was quite, comfortable, and affordable. I will stay there again. The breakfast was well prepared, and presented. I only experienced one very small inconvenience, and that was that the TV remotes volume control was broken.
Came down to visit family in Dhanis and the service I recieved at check in by the clerk at the front desk, Rosalinda I believe, was extremely unprofessional.. I stood at front desk for about 10-15 min before she put her phone down to check me in. Even at that, she told me if I didn't have a reservation, I couldn't stay.. I couldnt understand why if it was during the week and the parking lot was empty. I'm glad I had booked ahead of time. But her approach would of definitely scared customers away.. I just gotta say if you don't like your job, maybe this one isn't for you. The breakfast the next day was the worst. All they put out was a few slices of bread, some nasty fruit, and sour milk. I had never been so disappointed. Won't be coming back to this hotel and would definitely not recommend to friends and family..
There for my nieces Wedding. Great weekend all around thanks Best Western employees, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the pool which was very clean as well as the restroom outside. Grand kids really loved breakfast
Room was roomy, well furnished and very clean. Check was quick, easy and efficient. Pulling a trailer, the parking lot is fairly small and made it a little difficult. Nice location, easy access to the highway and places to eat.
Overall I Would say security is this biggest issue. Back door would not lock most of time. Get the reservation right. I was there for a funeral, so It wasn't the best of circumstances. I felt that maybe I should have stayed in bandera.
We went for a family gathering in a small town and needed a hotel to stay at. They offered a great rate and the hotel was nice and the room and beds were very comfortable. I will be definitely using this hotel again anytime we are in the area.
Went for a fundraising golf tournament. Beds were very comfortable and the staff was awesome! Rosa (front desk clerk) was extremely personable and made our stay enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again if we are back in Hondo Tx
I think it's a good place to stay there very excellent people on staff excellent service excellent I feel like I am at home me and my wife loves it the best Western it's on my place to go and stay when I go on vacation
I was greeted in a nice fashion. Staff was very polite. Room was clean. Bed was ok. Pillows ok - seemed a bit on the lumpy side; but I am very particular about me pillow. Room was very comfortable overall.
We just completed a very difficult family trip with our puppies. It's a long story I won't repeat it, but after driving 600 miles and encountering, quite possibly, the worst hotel I've ever seen (Days Inn, Route 90W San Antonio) at 1.00 AM on March 14, 2017, we chose to press on until we found a truly welcoming hotel for us and our puppies. We did! This hotel was 45 additional minutes out of our way but we were thankful to find it. Super friendly staff, new clean room, comfortable beds, and exactly what a road weary group needed. The next morning we had to turn around and drive to Austin but we did so, refreshed and renewed.
I have stayed for several months and was pleased . My family came to spend a few days so two weeks prior I reserved the adjoining room for them. When reservation for second room was made it was discussed I would also be staying. At 9:30 I was told I need to check out because they had rented my room to someone else.
BW Hondo is a good-sized facility with outdoor pool. It is located about 45 min west of San Antonio, TX. The staff there was very accommodating this past weekend when I stayed a couple nights to care for my newborn & toddler grandbabies while family was gathered to honor a deceased loved one. At the front desk, Rose hooked me up with a spacious room, and John delivered the crib and made sure everything was working properly -- all with welcoming chit-chat. The next day, Bridget graciously opened up the extra seating in the dining area for our group at breakfast (waffles!), and later Rubio kindly let me observe the workings of their intriguing bubbling water wall that stands near the winding stairway in the lobby. Even the cleaning staff members were friendly and courteous. Oh, and even though it is a rural area, there are several basic restaurants (McD, Taco Bell, etc.) within walking distance, with a Walmart available just down the road. I enjoyed my extended stay.
The room was clean. People are friendly. Breakfast was a little on the nasty side, but Im not much of a breakfast person anyway so no bid deal. The coffee was pretty good though... All in all not a bad place to stay if you have to be in Hondo...
Stayed here for a night with my family. The front desk staff was nice. The rooms were clean and cool. The pool area looked clean but we were unable to use it. Normal room with clean bathroom and clean towels. There is also a complimentary breakfast which my kids enjoyed.
Expensive and not many other good options in area. I come here for business and it is becoming less enjoyable each time I stay. They are not keeping up with the necessary maintenance. Towels in bathroom are frayed. need to be donated to car wash towels. Business center- nothing working. What's the point of having it. Toilet in room is loose. Front desk staff not too friendly. Don't interrupt them when they're fixed on their cell phone. It's hunting season so don't plan to sleep past 5am. You will surely hear the clamoring around upstairs as well as next door.
The only complaint I really had was the internet was not working for the first day and a half. The room was clean and cool. We used the swimming pool and it was also clean. The staff was very pleasant! I have stayed here a number of times throughout the years with my children and some of their friends!
We travel often and were a little taken back by the price of this BW. We came down to float the Frio and wanted hotel amenities instead of a cabin, so we decided to go ahead and pay the price since it was a quick weekend trip. When we arrived to our room, it looked like it hadn't even been cleaned. The comforter had grease and white spots all over it. There was white powder all over the room. Finger prints on the closet. The closet had trash on the floor. Crumbs on the desk. The bathroom had hair in the floor and the toilet seat was dirty. The AC unit was cold, but seems like it added to the humidity in the room. The humidity was so bad that our clothes were wet in our suitcase. Breakfast was disappointing. The breakfast bar is extremely small for a hotel that size. There are only 4 tables in the breakfast room....FOUR! The food was not restocked while we were there. The gravy was cold and if you wanted to wait in line for a waffle, you were literally standing next to some poor guest at their tiny table while they were eating breakfast. The wifi didn't work the 3 days we were there. No one seemed to care. BW missed the ball with this one. The most expensive and dirtiest hotel we've stayed at in a very long time. Next time, we will just book a cabin.
The hotel looked fairly new. It is in a convenient spot. But the pool looked like it had not been vacuumed for awhile. A lot of dirt and leave in it. It didn't look clean. The hallways hadn't been vacuumed for about a week and the front desk is not manned 24/7. There were times that there was no one behind it for awhile. The first morning the buffet was not what t expected. Coffee and some bagels and orange juice. But by The second morning, it had improved to include, cold cereal, make your own waffles and eggs, along with some grits and yogurt.
Reserved a king room for last night to attend a wedding. When we arrived, no reservation, apparently when I booked the room, directly with the hotel, the clerk put us down for 4 nights, like most of the guests for this event. Since we didn't arrive 2 nights earlier, the hotel canceled our reservation. The young lady working the registration desk was kind enough to put us in another room . The beds were lumpy, towels thin and pillows hard as a rock! When we checked out, we were charged the wrong price. Since the lady at the desk this morning couldn't make the correction, I had to call after 3pm to have this corrected. Rose, the manager, helped me and made the change. We stayed in this hotel about 4 yrs ago and it was sooo much better. Maybe the hotel changed owners, not sure. I know one thing for sure, we won't be staying here again!
Very pleasant staff. The hotel and room were immaculate. Highly recommend. The decorations and room lay out were first rate. Very surprising for a small town. The breakfast was of good quality and variety.
I have stayed here several times through the years and this is the first time I felt that the room and some areas needed more attention to cleaning. Our bathroom floor was sticky, the mirror had wipe stains on it, and there was a tissue still on the floor from the last guest. Did not feel as comfortable as I have in the past.
We booked this hotel for the saddest of reasons....a funeral for a friend's child. The people at the Best Western were so helpful and kind. We asked for a later checkout and were told 'no problem...just let us know'. They gave us directions to the funeral home, which saved us time..... Just a very pleasant stay in spite of the circumstances... I was impressed that we had to change rooms because they were 'deep cleaning' some of the empty rooms....
Had to go to Devine on business. Hondo was on the way just twenty minutes away. I had my best friend with me (my dog). The motel gave us a first floor room right next to the exit. Rosa was great at checking me in, very friendly and helpful. Great valve.
Definitely not a BW "Plus"! No "on-duty" personnel except for the breakfast helper No ability to check-out, to get a receipt Air Conditioner does not cool the room Breakfast warm - at best Left over frozen dinner in the in-room fridge
Seems to be the nicest hotel in Hondo. Breakfast is not good, but most hotel breakfast is about the same. The room was clean, the bed was great & the staff was friendly. There is a Taco Bell next door & several other restaurants close by. Walmart & HEB are a block away.
You are treated like family. Everyone knows your name. The rooms are clean. I have stayed in many different hotels and this Best Western in Hondo, Tx has the BEST Staff. I stay at the Best Western In Hondo at least twice a month. I know my room will be ready and I am always greeted with a smile and a big welcome.
We are always stay at the Best Western in Hondo. It's a trusted brand and they welcome our dog, Rupert, which we appreciate. The Best Western staff is friendly and professional. The hotel is convenient and comfortable. It's good value for our money.
Decent hotel. Staff is friendly. Breakfast selection is lackluster at best. Rooms are small but sufficient for my needs as a single business traveler. Internet was slow on this visit. I have stayed here two other times.
We rested in Hondo on the way from Houston to Del Rio. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and looked new. We enjoyed our Texas waffles for breakfast and our truck and boat were safe (Ive heard lots of stories of car burglaries at hotels) This was one reason we chose Hondo to stay over San Antonio. I recommend staying here!
We stay here for business when we come to Hondo. Nice clean rooms and the hotel decor is nice. Breakfast could use a little improvement, the parking area is minimal and is a challenge if you have a small trailer like we have. We have to park off on a dirt area adjacent to the hotel. It gets a bit nasty if it rains, besides this our over all stay is always great ...
Very clean, every member of the staff was friendly and helpful. They were more than happy to answer all my questions and even helped when travel plans changes at the last minute. They also helped me find a good location for next night stay thanks to their knowledge of the state.
Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff, especially Reuben at the desk, was very accommodating. Breakfast was kept fresh and very good. Bed was very comfortable. Fridge, microwave and coffee pot a big plus!
New property, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and clean room, good breakfast! It was quiet too. I checked in on Saturday August 29th, and spent one night. My husband is in prison in Hondo, and will be there for at least 5 more months. That's 400 miles away from where I live one-way, so it's a trip and requires at least one overnight stay. I will definitely be staying here every time I go to visit. I loved the room, my favorite thing was probably the huge comfy king sized bed and the pillows. I have nothing to say about what I "liked least" about my stay, because it was very nice. I enjoyed it very much and will be going back soon!
Enjoyed our stay at this new property. The staff was friendly, the pool a cool respite from the Texas heat, and the rooms were comfortable. Only issue was there were not a lot of restaurants open nearby on Monday night or after 9pm.
We were staying at hotel during the final days of our Mom. The staff was helpful but we were disappointed about the breakfast provided. The assistant did what she could with what she had but better ordering procedures could have been in place for more satisfied guests.
The hotel itself was nice but it seems there were several people loitering in the lobby and pool. They did not appear to be guests of the hotel. Also, breakfast was not satisfying. There were no eggs and when I tried to get yogurt or fruit, there were none and it was 7am... still early.
