"Amazing Service and Excellent Food"

One of the best dining experiences I've had, ever. The staff are incredible and go above and beyond to make sure you're completely satisfied. BIG shout out to Nem, Kingsley, Ash, Damion and of course chef Jack, for treating me like family! I've found myself constantly laughing in engaging conversations and cleaning the whole plate every visit. Thank you for the exceptional hospitality gentlemen. Make sure you stop by this gem if you're ever in High Level.

Since it opened I've stayed at this hotel every time I go to High Level. The staff are great. Very accommodating. The facility is amazing. I really love the lounge area. Great food and a great atmosphere.

"Home Away from Home to visit Friends (the staff)"

The is the best hotel in the country. Feels like going home to visit with all your friends to see Elizabeth, Tareq, Kingley, Damion, Damien, Shea and Crys! Really love these guys and miss them if I have not been back in a while. Super comfy beds and amazing breakfast (loved the French toast and homemade salsa) . Thanks for the yummy new vanilla coffee cream. But in the end, the staff is what makes this the BEST hotel ever! Good job Mark for creating a team that treats us like family. Cannot wait to come see you again.

"Excellent Hotel"

Great rooms, food and helpful staff. One of the best buffet breakfasts for a chain. Had two great dinner meals at the restaurant. Nothing but good things to say about this place in this Northern local. This is the hotel to stay in when visiting High Level and area.

"Comfortable stay "

I arrived just after noon and although check-in isn't until 4 they were friendly and accommodated me quickly anyways. The rooms are pleasant. There's a door to access the room from outside in the parking area like a motel but also one from the interior like a hotel as well which was a nice feature, so depending where you're coming from it makes for easy access options. Having said that I could hear the noise from outside the room in the parking lot and could also hear the neighbours tv so there isn't the greatest amount of soundproofing, which was too bad. The room is a decent size and comfortable with a bed, chair, tables and chairs, tv, coffee maker and fridge. There is a fitness room on site with a weight machine, two treadmills, an elliptical, a stationary bike and two TVs. There's a neat water park with a hot tub. I didn't end up having time to use it but it's a nice feature that's offered to guests. I had dinner in the on site restaurant. The service was good. I had the chicken ceaser salad which was average and then had the blueberry and white chocolate cheesecake which was quite good. A full breakfast is also included. There is a lot of parking available and you can park right outside where your room is. It's right off the highway in a convenient location but you can't hear the traffic going by so that's great. Unfortunately they were doing road construction right outside so when I arrived one area was blocked off and i had to go around another way. Later in the day when I came back I went the way I left expecting that to be okay but they had moved on and blocked that area off so then I had to switch and go back around again. To be expected when road work is happening and no fault of the hotel it was just a small hassle. The staff was all lovely and helpful. Overall I would highly recommend it if you're ever in the area.

This hotel treated me like Royalty. The staff were friendly and engaging, the room was clean and had all the amenities I needed. I will stay here again and I will recommend my friends and colleagues to come and enjoy this hotel (it was a home away from home)

"One of the best one to stay in HIgh Level"

I have stayed in Best Western facilities before, this one not that new, it is very spacious at the lobby with a big restaurant. Good selection of menu as well. The guest rooms are not that big but I find the colour and style in the curtains and beddings too tacky. It is one of the hotels that has the best swimming pool and water park...the only problem is ..they are only open from 4pm to 10pm. I don't know why? Some guests overnighting would like to take a dip in themorning before they check out but this one is ridiculous. Although they open the pool to the public for use instead of just the guests primarily. The own should have a swimming pool (indoor).

"A pleasant surprise"

The Mirage has undergone big renovations since my last visit. The Exterior is pleasant and I was most impressed with the lobby and restaurant layout. The restaurant was great, lots of space, well appointed and a large curving exterior wall that added a pleasing overall look and some privacy in the large space. The menu was good with lots of good choices, although the elk and bison were not in season.

"A Great Visit"

I've been to the lounge here several times, and it never disappoints. This Friday night I had a couple of beers, and a fantastic, very tasty burger with fries. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the burger was one of the best I've had in a long time. The three men in the lounge seemed to really enjoy their jobs, and the ambiance and service were also outstanding. I've been here before, and I'll be back! It's probably the nicest restaurant in High Level, and you feel like you're not in such a small, northern town, when you're there.

A great night stay. We always use this hotel for our conferences. Good breakfast buffet, with waffles, omelets, etc. Room service was very quick. Lots of parking, even for vehicles with trailers. Good location, next to highway, but very little noise from traffic.

"Worst Service"

I have stayed at this location a couple times before for work and was looking forward to my stay here again with my 5 employees. I have raved about the food in the Mirage and for most of the suppers it was good, but we did encounter hard as pucks garlic toast, hot fudge brownies that were not hot nor fudge and the service was slow. It took 2 1/2 hours to be served and pay the bill. The last night I was here, I decided I didn't want to wait that long in the restaurant so I got room service. All good with the food arriving quickly, but the delivery person forgot my bill and subbed my chocolate milk for white milk. When she left, I noticed I had no cutlery and tried endlessly calling the front desk, but no reply. I was quite annoyed that I had to walk down to the lobby in my pajamas to find the lady at the front desk on the move. When I told her I had been trying and trying to call but no answer, she nonchalantly said she was in the restaurant. I asked her to get my cutlery as there was a line up to the restaurant and I was already annoyed that I had to come down in my pjs. The whole point of room service is so I can relax in my room! Also, I found it to be noisy with people outside in the hallways on the inside as well as the outside doors.

Dear Guest, We apologize that everything didn't meet your expectations during your stay. However, I believe that the best service experiences come when things aren't quite as a guest expected but the problem is resolved promptly and adequately. When your server did his quality control within a couple minutes of presenting the meals for your table, you expressed your opinion regarding the Garlic Toast being dry and he immediately retuned with fresh garlic toast for the entire table. In my professional opinion, that is in-fact an example of great service, not "worst service". When the Brownie's you ordered were not served exactly as described on the menu, your entire table was more than adequately compensated for the mis-understanding, another example of great service. We noted that your group was rather particular so our 2 best servers were assigned to your table, one of which was recruited from the Ritz Carlton and the other was recruited from Walt Disney Cruise Lines, two companies world-renown for their service. Both servers are routinely acknowledged by name from our guests for providing exceptional service experiences, it is unfortunate they were unable to meet your standards. I have no explanation as to why you weren't given cutlery with your room service order, other than it must have simply been missed. When you called down to the front desk, our agent was going out of her way to assist another customer and missed your call. If your call would have been answered, the cutlery would have been delivered right to your door in a flash. May I also remind you that our manager delivered the chocolate milk you ordered to your door. He made a specific trip to the store to buy it for you because we were out. However, we take full responsibility for your experience and apologize once again. Our staff served your group with great sincerity and professionalism during your multiple night stay with us. It is disheartening that you left with such a negative perception due to the few incidences that were slightly off. We feel that overall your experience should have been a satisfying one. Room and bed was awesome Place was quiet. The restaurant looked fabulous but unfortunately we couldn't stay but I did grab coffee to go n it was ??STARBUCKS!?? I would definitely recommend this place and stay again The staff was very polite and cheerful

"I wouldn't stay anywhere else"

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and the check in was a breeze. The room was comfortable and clean and had interior and exterior doors, which was nice to stay warm on the way down to breakfast but getting to my work truck way easier than having to go through the lobby. The breakfast was a lot better than the standard hotel breakfast and offered a variety of choices that changed from day to day, which is something I really look for when I am planning a multi-day stay. While the internet wasn't the fastest, it was a lot better than some other hotels in the area and was more than enough to complete my paperwork and watch Netflix. And I would highly recommend checking out the hotel restaurant because its got a very good selection of delicious food.

"Nice and friendly"

Clean, spacious room.....fridge,, coffee maker (would be nice to have more than one free coffee).....comfortable beds and pillows. Nice hotel overall. Not sure about outdoor deck though...People go out there to smoke and walking is far louder than the sounds coming from inside. Friendly staff. Overall a pleasant stay.

"Best place to stay in town"

This was my 1st trip here and 1st experience with Best Western... if they are all this top notch I'll be switching brands. Great service, friendly and helpful, the food was amazing including the free breakfast, small little extras that go a long way for a constant traveler like myself. Nice lounge where you can have a drink and catch the game. Kudos to the entire staff and owners.

"The best overall service in general I've had in Canada at a hotel"

I stay in hotels 6 months + a year and from the front desk, manager, servers they all show a certain pride and happiness in providing professional service. Rooms are decent, breakfast is mehhhh. Guests with longer reservations typically professionals are given upgrades and grouped together in areas of the hotel while trying to avoid the weekend crowds that can cause noise.

Great hotel, It is known for its great breakfast, included in your stay for Free. Staff always great, stayed here at least 20 times, comfortable clean rooms. Menus in restaurant and bar have a good selection and price.

"Great stay "

Nice hotel with a great restaurant and excellent customer service. The temperature was a bit warm for our liking in the hallway and guest suite, but it was easily controlled with opening the door to the outside in our room. That was a nice feature. Very comfortable bed with a microwave and mini fridge. Our room was 211, which was only about 5 doors down a super long hallway. At the end of the long hallway was the stairs to the pool. Great for kids and included a kids play area, hot tub and a water slide. Our check in and check out went smooth and our dinner with our large party went very well. Thanks to Tareq and Kingsley. We highly recommend staying here. It suited our hockey team very well. The hot breakfast was also delish. It consisted of sausages, eggs (hard boiled and omelette style) with salsa, cheese and green onions to put inside. There was also hash browns, two waffle stations, breads, pastries oatmeal, yogurt and cereals. Good spread for sure. The price of this hotel is fairly decent also.

"Birthday stay"

Too many things went wrong this stay, broken key door led to a very long walk down the end of the hallway, rude hockey kids in the pool, thermostat was backwards so it was super hot, noisy hockey teen above and on the side of up, no paperview, staticy phone in the living room.

"Over priced, loud, stuffy, horrible pool area"

I am an unhappy customer. To be honest I will never stay here again. This hotel is not anywhere even near "resort like" First of all when we arrived and during our entire stay the parking lot was not shoveled, the stairs up to the rooms were slippery. The room was dark and dingy.My husband had to keep fixing the toilet that wouldnt flush. I understand that you cant please everyone but the room and hallways were so hot and stuffy. The swimming pool area was like a sauna, and very unsanitary, hairs stuck all over the floor, greenish looking water. The guy working at the pool was very friendly, I wish I could say the same about the guy at the front desk. All night we heard screaming, crying, partying and thumping below us. Breakfast to be honest was just like any hotel breakfast, nothing special. Not even hot chocolate. The pool wasnt open until 1:00pm which was dissapointing. The only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1is because of the housekeeping staff. There was a man and a woman. They were super friendly and pleasant to talk to. The price is horrendous. Almost $200 per night....all I can say is I wouldnt stay here again for even half of the price. I

"Pool is ridiculous"

The hotel is fine enough, but while the fitness centre is 24hrs, the pool is continuously closed. They will open the door, but only if a waiver is signed. Then it is left unlocked. Sign the waiver at check-in, and you can use the pool anytime!

"Best Hotel in High Level"

The entire experience was perfect. The staff were very welcoming and cater to any need. The room was very clean and the lay out was extremely spacious. The food was very enjoyable, as well as the handmade cocktails. I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to everyone I know. The staff definitely go above and beyond to make sure everyone has the perfect guest experience.

"Pleasant Stay"

I was very impressed with the overall level of comfort at this hotel. I was not expecting this level of comfort and was pleasantly surprised. The price point was bang on for the room. The food was excellent and the staff were all a pleasure to deal with. Try the Elk if its in season as it was quite good! I will definitely stay here again on my next work visit!

"Nice staff, cold room"

The staff at the hotel were helpful however the room was quiet cold. Staff offered to fix and provided a heater plus offered to move to another room. I was in the middle of a nice di had a fair bit of supplies with me so would rather that we stayed in the same room. The room was fairly pricey though and a discount was nit offered or agreed to when I suggested that. Sometime during the night the heat did kick in so the heater was no longer needed.

I am happy to hear that our staff was helpful, however, I do apologize for the lack of heat in your guest room. This is no excuse, but we did have an extreme temperature fluctuation of 30 degrees and our hot water heating system does take time to either heat up or cool down. Everything was functioning properly but unfortunately all we could do was wait and provide the heater in the meantime. Mirage is beautiful and the staff very very helpful and friendly. I was surprised to find such a luxurious and lovely hotel in this remote community. Would recommend it to anyone travelling in the area for whatever reason. Nice pool, water slide and hot tub.

I always stay at this location when I am in High Level. Rooms are nice. The food is good. Easy to locate with good access. They have everything that I need when I am in town for business. I have not been disappointed yet.

My only complaint was the noise when staying on the ground floor. I would ask for a room in the upper floors. Aside from that, very clean and good breakfast. My kids enjoyed the water park aside from the pool towels were like a large facecloth, they need to be upgraded.

"Comfortable stay"

We came to high level for the first time for my sons hockey. Loved the pool and water park area. Our 2 bedrooms suite was perfect. Breakfast had a lot of variety. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Only complaint was that the rooms aren't very sound proof and we heard a lot of kids running up and down halls or adults talking as they walked by. More than in a usual hotel stay.

Had no issues except a long walk to the room. Bed was comfortable with ample pillows. TV was large but frustrated a little with selection of channels. Otherwise, great place to stay while in High Level and I recommend to any traveler.

"Surprisingly nice accommodations in a far away land"

When visiting such a remote northerly small town, my expectations were low for hotels. The Best Western 'Mirage' though far exceeded my expectations. Rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable. They also have been kept looking completely new - though I'm sure the hotel is at least 5 years old, and are frequently visited by industry workers in safety gear, muddy boots, etc. The hotel is also nicely equipped with a good restaurant that is architecturally interesting, and a water splash park, water slide and pool complex for hotel guests and locals. I was also able to see the Northern Lights from the parking lot which was breathtaking. The Vegas theme in this town is amusing and creative. The hotel also lives up to Vegas 'Mirage' fame with having a SUPER LONG hallway - but at least you have somewhere to walk on a cold winter's day! My only negative surprise was the price. I've stayed in 4 star hotels in big cities for far less. I guess though they do have a captive audience. If coming back to this area, there's nowhere else I'd want to stay.

"Great Sleep but don't count on breakfast"

The rooms are clean, beds are awesome - just don't count on breakfast if you have a timeline the hot buffet was empty it was 9:15 am Buffet goes to 11 on Saturdays. We had a meeting at 10 and the hot buffet wasn't filled until 9:45 so had to make due with cold cereal. The wait staff in the restaurant for the buffet were not in any way helpful they avoided eye contact and moved away when I attempted to approach so no extra napkins for the spilled milk... Real good thing the beds are so comfortable that's why I be back :)

The décor in the lobby impresses right away. The front desk staff are very polite and helpful. The menu and the food at the restaurant is excellent, the hotel and rooms are very clean, and the beds are very comfortable. This is the place to stay when you are in High Level.

We stayed at the Best Western Mirage Hotel and Resort in High Level , Alberta. The access to the hotel was very convenient-right off the highway. The rooms were very clean and well appointed and the hotel offerred every amenity available for being located in the far northern reaches. Hearty breakfasts as well as dinners and lunches were available. There was an indoor pool as well. High speed internet was a plus. Can't think of one negative. A really nice place to spend a night or two.

"Loved this hotel!"

This was our 7th night of a 3-week road trip, and so far, this was our favorite hotel. We both liked the way the rooms were set up, where we could park at the door and walk in, but then also exit at the other side of the room into an interior hallway. This way, we could get to the lobby and restaurant from the inside. It was very clean and quiet, spacious and comfortable, with a roomy bathroom, too. We are staying again on our way back south, and we're really happy to stay again. We're hoping we get the first floor again. Also, we used the guest laundry, which was a little less expensive than the laundry we had used a few days before at a different chain.

Other than the vast hwy construction in front of Hotel & no seniors rates, we enjoyed stay. Sorry, I am not willing to write a book about the stay. We simply only over nighted at your Hotel & did not use any facilities. The small fridge did not have a freezer. That would have been nice for the next days travel of 800 Km.

"Good place with family."

This is a good standard hotel. The food was ok. Patrick was interesting, he played with the kids and was quite hyper, like a big kid. They loved it. The pool has life jackets for the kids, the supervision is really up to parents so don't expect any supervision. The hotel is well kept and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Ideally located for a rest going north or south.

Good clean hotel after a long day of travel to the Northwest Territories from Edmonton, Alberta. Quiet at night. The pool area was great, but we had to sign a waiver and there was no one there right away and we didn't know where to get towels, no one told us. However, the waterpark was great! The food was a bit pricey, but good and the breakfast was good. It was a good stay. Wifi wouldn't connect though.

"Clean and friendly"

We stay here every time we are in High Level, which is quite often. We are pleased with the accommodations and service that we receive. I would recommend anyone to stay here when either passing through or staying for shopping, visiting or getting vehicles serviced. It would be nice if their breakfast buffet was assorted from day to day as it can get stagnant to eat the same food two days in a row, but that may have been a one time thing that we experienced.

Not only are the hotel rooms clean and comfortable, but the complimentary breakfast is the best I've had at any hotel! Starbucks coffee and lots of hot breakfast choices. It's in a great location on the highway and large enough for room availability.

"Really Nice Business Room"

It has been many years since I have been in High Level on business. With lots of road construction happening to the west and north off the hotel (highway realignment) many contractor personnel are staying in the hotel. With limited rooms available we had to book 2 of I believe 6 business rooms in the hotel. These rooms are located on the second floor relatively close to the lobby and business centre. Keep in mind this hotel is is very long and narrow and walking down the long narrow hallway, it feels like the far rooms are kilometers away. The hotel has a pub and a restaurant. Having stayed in many hotels in High Level over the years I still feel the Mirage is one of the best in town.

"Longest Hallway Ever"

Found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Food from the kitchen is very good and we'll presented. Alcohol in the lounge is overpriced, example 9$ for a coors banquet. Gym is functional. Swimming pool and hot tub don't open until later in the day, would be nice if it opened earlier.

Overall quality was less than expected compared to other BW locations I've stayed at. Normal conversation from next room was like being in the same room. Appears hotel portion is older than, and added on to restraunt and Pol area.

Check in was fine. No blow dryer in room asked front desk for one, which took forever, tried using it next morning after shower but didn't work. I went out to my vehicle and got mine, on the way dropping the faulty one and only got a shrug of indifference

Hotel overall is very clean and was quiet. We had a suite so the kids could have some sleep and we could relax. The kids bedroom is nice and dark (which is helpful in the middle of June and almost 24 hour sun!) so they were able to go to bed at a reasonable hour. The pool hours have changed to late afternoon-evenings only (4pm-10pm weekdays) so if your kids plan on getting a swim in before departure, they're out of luck.

"Best Western High Level insect infestation in room"

During my stay in High Level I had an inoperable AC unit and the washroom was crawling with beetles escaping the shower and sink drains and fleeing from behind the toilet. When I explained this to management I was treated like an fool and vagrant, was told I brought the bugs in myself. When I explained the "complimentary" breakfast was dried out and less than appetizing, I was told "oh well". I stay here when I could, my employees stay here every second week through out the year. They have lost all the business I have awarded them. Choose different accommodations!

Dear Ted, Thank you once again for your opinion. This is the third response in relation to your most recent stay at our property. We thoroughly understand your disappointment and believe there was some form of mis- interpretation as no customer is ever spoken to as a "fool or vagrant" by any of our staff. Regardless, we have apologized several times and gave you a substantial discount on your stay. Your complaint of beetles is the only such feedback we have received. I can assure you it is not a matter of cleanliness or "infestation". The image you showed us of the 2 insects both have wings, so we simply suggested that perhaps your outside door was left open, and the insects flew into your room from outside. You may be correct in that they crawled up from the drain, I am not sure, but some things are simply beyond our control, and we are out of options in ways in which to make it up to you. We have came to terms with the fact that you no longer will be staying with us, and that you will eternally advise other not to do so as well, as you have mentioned several times now. It is unfortunate that your interpretation of this one isolated incident out of the many stays you confirmed that you and your fellow employees have experienced would lead to such a drastic conclusion. However, you are the customer, and you may choose to say and stay, what and where you like. There are a variety of other nice hotels in High Level to choose from, and we sincerely hope you find the experience you are looking for.

Patrick, a server in the lounge might be drunk all the time. He yells at you if you don't like the food. Food is usually good, but if it's not- don't say anything. Patrick, an awkward terrible server will shame you.

For the area, it's a very good hotel/motel. Nice atrium dining area. Friendly staff. The design of the room areas are similar to a motel. Which is understandable do to the requirements general guests have which frequent the hotel. The Mirage name is a little outdated. Overall good experience.

"Loud, noisy"

Stayed one night for business. It was not restful sleep. The hotel was very busy, and less than half full. Many of the rooms are motel style in that they have an external exit/entrance opening into a deck for both second and first floors. I heard loud doors closing ++ people talking/laughing while outside smoking. It was constant activity. Additionally, plastic cups filled with cigarette butts were outside many doors. Pretty gross, especially since it's supposed to be a smoke free hotel. I finally complained at 11:20pm, but the noise continued. I booked this room rate using hotels.com, to accumulate more stays (and consequently move closer to a free stay), and I paid approx $110 CAD. The rate on best western site was $160 CAD. I only mention this because at check in, the agent mentioned to me that she could see I booked on an external site and "encouraged" me too book with Best Western directly next time, in order to accumulate Best Western points. My point is, regardless whose loyalty points im accumulating, I paid a cheaper rate for a sub standard stay. I'm quite glad I paid a cheaper rate in the end. The experience wasn't worth $110... and certainly not worth $160.

My family loved the two-bedroom suite. My children had their own bed and a shared room. They loved that we were seconds from the pool, which was incredible - pool, splash pad, and a hot tub. The beds were okay, but it may be time for some new mattresses. Also, the living room furniture needs a refresh.

I would give you 5, but the free breakfast was horrendous. You have a beautiful restaurant that makes great lunch and dinners. Why do you prepare slop only for the morning? Clean, friendly, amazing for kids and pets. Otherwise a perfect stay after a long drive. Love the pillows, beds are ok, great pool for the kids, outside access for pets. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite and it was a GREAT room! The regular rooms are great too. I highly recommend this place.

Had a short one night stay in this hotel on the way from Yellowknife to Edmonton. Check in was fast and room was very clean. The sanitized remote in a bag was a nice touch! "EXCELLENT BUSINESS HOTEL"

This hotel is the complete package. It is located at the junction of Highways 58 and 35, with easy access from both highways. It has a large parking lot, and a very large lobby for the hotel and restaurant. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are excellent. The breakfast included with the room is more than ample. Internet is very fast and there are adequate electrical outlets for all devices. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again!!

"Best mid class hotel!"

This is probably one of the best mid class hotels I've been to. They have super clean rooms, ppv movies, a water slide/indoor pool/hot tub park, and fairly contemporary restaurant layout. The food is excellent and one of their great value-adds is their morning buffet breakfast that provides more assortment than most other places I've been. I'm very impressed with all of it and the staff are friendly and helpful.

"Mirage was better than real , Vegas of the North"

Over 3 or 4 periods i had occasion to spend 30 or 40 days at this wonderfully clean well-run motel. I'v also stayed there in other years. It passes Best Western's cleanliness standards easily ( i happened to be there during the inspection..). The rooms are quiet,well maintained and far more luxurious than one would expect of a northen 'patch town'.. Celine and her industrious staff really have customer service down to a science. Even Nem the 'little' bartender goes above and beyond in his efforts to make you feel welcomed as one of the family.. The included breakfast is much better than many hotels offer.. The business room is comfy and quiet, more like a personal den than a sterile workplace. It's a long hotel, bring comfortable shoes if you end up at the northern end. The gym isn't huge but they have one. i ran instead. enjoy

I had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional property and highly recommend it. I stay in hotels across the country and this is one of the best. The rooms are modern and most importantly very clean. Breakfast is a generous variety of choices, and everything i had was great. The staff are friendly, the front desk personnel were professional, and my meal in the lounge was to die for. I enjoyed every minute of my stay!

The hotel was a surprise. Clean, well appointed and decorated rooms with easy access to all amenities. Management and Staff were professional and courteous. Stayed in the room with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. I like the space but the bed in my room was very worn and should be replaced. Flat screen tvs are nice in each room and livingroom. Everyone got to watch their own show. Took my daughter to the water park she had lots of fun playing on the slide. The hot tub was perfect no issues. Waterslide was awesome. lady at the pool area was very welcoming and friendly.

This is our usual place to stay in High Level, we usually overnight here a few times a year. The hotel is very consistent, always clean, always a comfy bed, always friendly staff. I'm rating it very good because it is consistent. Restaurant is ok, breakfast is ok. Good food but if your a foodie - its just food - but to note, we haven't had a better dinner in High Level either.

Stayed here for one night, The room was nice and big with full kitchen. Had dinner and breakfast in restaurant. Dinner was nothing special - Ended up being $90 for 3 of us (2 drinks, 2 meals and then a kids meal with pop) breakfast was alright the next morning.

Stayed 3 nights stayed up here for wedding La Crete. A bit far to drive but wanted a decent bed to sleep on. Our room had a firm mattress. We opted for the king executive room which had tons of room with a couch and 2 comfy chairs, a small table to eat at and chairs. It had a small fridge that chilled well and a microwave. The large bathroom had tub and shower combo, only problem there was tub was extremely slippery. They needed some decals on the tub to prevent falling. There were lots of lamps for lighting and big windows to let the light in. They have a waterpark that seemed very popular. Couple of small issues - they did not have blackout curtains which are really needed up there especially during the summer. The other issue was the fan / air conditioner hummed rather loudly all night in order to keep the air circulating. The housekeeping missed cleaning our room the 2nd day we were there so we mentioned it to reception. Other than that the hotel was clean and in good shape.

This is our 3rd time staying at this hotel and we continue to be impressed by the amenities here. Our room was extremely clean and had a deep tub and spacious bathroom with high-quality toiletries. We were on the first floor, so we were able to park right outside our room - this is so convenient when traveling with kids! The Internet connection is fast and reliable. The restaurant was very good: family-friendly, polite and speedy servers, and delicious food. Our favourite park was the water park. It's clean and well-maintained and so convenient to access. It has a play area that is perfect for toddlers, a larger pool with a water slide and a hot tub. Some floating toys and life jackets are available for children. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back of we return to this part of Canada.

I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff is very polite and courteous and the food is good. The only thing I would mention is that the hallways is not solid (ie: concrete) so you hear the foot steps loudly when people walk up and down the hallway. Other than that, it is all good with loads of well lit parking.

We had a long wait for someone to come to the desk and there was a mix up with our bill but it was sorted out. Our room was upgraded to a suite which was very nice. The bed was great, for me the pillows were hard and to thick, but that's just me. The air conditioner in our bedroom was rather noisy and never stopped all night. There was a nice looking restaurant but we didn't eat there. We did go to the breakfast buffet. There was a lot of choice but the eggs were cold, the sausage and French toast were great.

I try to stay at this location whenever I am in town. I like the full kitchens with the separate bed room. I travel about 80% of the year. I like to feel at home. It is time to change the mattress in the room I was in this time. I did not get my normal good nights sleep.

From the pleasant operators of the complimentary airport shuttle service to the excellent rooms, extremely comfortable beds, first rate service in every aspect and food and beverage choices-this hotel is a great and pleasant surprise and real gem. The Atrium which wraps around a good portion of the property provides the soothing sound of water and an open and airy atmosphere. Lovely place to enjoy the restaurant and lounge experience or sit and work. Jacqueline and Damien, in particular, provide exemplary customer service, but all staff, including front desk, aim to please in the most professional and helpful manner. For me, there is only one place to stay when in High Level, and it is the Best Western. With a water park and fitness gym, it offers comfort, quality and health/recreation options that create a superior home away from home experience, that is truly exceptional.In the inimitable words of Arnold Schwarzenegger "I'll be back". I stayed here during a recent business trip and found the staff to be friendly and helpful...just as you might expect in a small town. The rooms were clean and had access to an interior corridor as well as to the outside parking lot...motel-style. Ask for an east-facing room especially in the summer when the sun doesn't set until after 10PM. Easily recommend.

The price is about 40 dollars more than anyone else and the breakfast was poor, no selection and poor quality. Has always been a little more money but had great breakfast. How you pay for coffee to take with you, Called manager to complain but no call back!

I didn't remember staying there, I remember why after the fact-it was an okay stay. Check-in was easy and the room was clean. I didn't love the bed and didn't get a great sleep...this is probably just preference, but disappointing nonetheless. There was a fair amount of noise transfer from the hallway. It didn't seem like people were noisy, yelling, etc-just simple walking, talking and luggage rolling. The room could use more towels, but the bathroom amenities (ex: shampoos, soap and vanity kit) were a nice addition. I tried several times to go outside to the balcony door but for whatever reason, the door would not open. Express checkout simple.

The big benefit of this hotel is they have a shuttle to and from the airport. The staff were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to keep me comfortable. It was very nice to have a restaurant on site. I would stay here again when traveling up north.

"It's an Oasis in the middle of nowhere..."

I've been to a lot of Best Western Plus hotels, and quite honestly none stand up to the one you'll find in High Level in terms of overall experience, and service. It's top notch, and was surprised to find this sort of quality in the middle of nowhere Alberta. Would recommend, and will definitely be staying again.

I have stayed at this hotel previously, and it has been great. Rooms are clean, the restaurant and lounge are fantastic. The night clerk Brandice made our stay much more comfortable, after a long drive. She went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything that we needed. We look forward to staying here again.

"Pretty average hotel but looked the best in High Level"

In all honesty there wasn't a great deal wrong with the hotel, but I don't think I would be being honest with myself if I gave it any more than a 3*. This being said I'm sure this is hands down the best hotel in High Level as some of the others looked shabby at best. I went to High Level in November and if you know anything about the area at that time of the year there is snow EVERYWHERE. This being said when I parked up, the expansive car park was pretty clear which made parking easier. When I got inside it was pretty bog standard - what I come to expect from Best Westerns - clean, reasonably modern etc. Upon arrival at the front desk I was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who clearly knew what they were talking about and were efficient at getting me set up in my room after a long day of travel. There is only two floors to this hotel so really theres no need to take the lift, so I grabbed the stairs - in the future take the lift. For some bizarre reason there is the worst draft on the stairs and you go from nice and warm to insanely cold when you go up them - it sounds petty but I would have rather taken the lift and stayed warm.... The room was pretty good. Nothing to write home about but the bed was comfy, and the shower/bathroom were pretty decent so I cant complain there. The breakfast in the morning was complimentary which was nice but if you do go for it, just take fruit and toast. The hot buffet was pretty nasty and cold. All in all I don't think there was an awful lot wrong with the hotel but for the price I paid, ($160+ per night) I wasn't blown away. I appreciate I wasn't in a place with a huge amount of competition so they can charge more, and also that, looking at other hotels around, this was clearly the best hotel in the area, but I just can't justify giving it more than 3* based on the quality vs what I paid

"Nice property but too pricey"

Stayed at this property previously and it is good but overpriced given the other properties in town. Unless you like paying for the waterpark it is too highly priced. Also they confuse many guests by having their Waterpark posted on the sister properties websites and then you mistaken book the wrong hotel and get doubled billed.

I stayed here January 24-30 for business along with 4 of my staff members. Not one complaint from any of us! The included hot full breakfast is an added bonus for sure. I upgraded to a king jacuzzi suite and the additional space especially the living room area with foot stool was super. I appreciate they are staying with technology as I could change channels and watch movie previews with my iphone. This is by far the nicest hotel in High Level and not to mention the food is outstanding and fresh.

Clean with all required amenities. The best option in town. The breakfast had lots of choices including hot menu items. Internet access was extremely reliable. The cleaners used a strong scented spray that was over-powering in the rooms. Doors to the outside and inside allow easy access to hotel amenities and vehicle.

I stayed at the Best Western in High Level and the staff and hotel were awesome. The staff were very helpful and nice to deal with. The room was clean and quiet. I checked in early and my room wasn't ready yet, so they upgraded me with no extra charge so that I could check in early!

This is an excellent property located in Northern Alberta and the "best" Best Western I have ever stayed at. It is a must if you are travelling through High Level. The pool and waterslide area is a great place to take the kids, they will love it.

We stopped at the High Level Best Western Plus on Dec. 19th 2015. Room was $200. Ate in restaurant - excellent food, excellent service. Went to room. Bet was lumpy and low in middle, very hard to sleep in. Not at all comfortable. Room was on first floor, half way down hall, near stairs to outside. Every footstep in hall, in hall above, in rooms beside and in rooms above, as well as most other sounds, were transmitted clearly to our room. For $200 I expect a comfortable bed and a quiet room. I can recommend the restaurant, and the service in general, but don't stay there and expect good value for your room dollars.

Excellent Hotel, Great Staff, Awesome Food. We stayed here on our way to Yellowknife and we arrived late (3AM) but staff were ready for us, and our pooch when we got there. We all were very well rested for the next leg of our journey. Before we left we were able to enjoy a awesome breakfast and Starbucks coffees! Thanks!

Our family of four states in one of their lovely suites. Room was clean and more than adequate for our family. The restaurant is wonderful. We had a delicious dinner with wonderful service. The FREE breakfast buffet is excellent. The service is wonderful and the staff wonderful. A great stay for families travelling from Yellowknife. Worth the price.

Front desk clerks are included in "first impressions" of a hotel. Two hockey teams arrive 7:00pm with one clerk front desk. He didn't seem to care line out the door. Process speed quite like a sloth. Could have processed easily 3 guests at a time. One at a time was fine. After one team processed, a 2nd clerk arrived, from her break. Mmm....maybe come back, check guest in, and then a coffee break?

This is the best hotel in town. Rooms are very clean, spacious, and staff are very friendly. Breakfast is fee but can get very boring for those that stay for more than a few days as the menu is set and does not change. In fact, a number of hotels in town use exactly the same format of scrambled eggs, bacon, bread, and muffins. In the north one does not expect the same level of service for the same price but this hotel comes very close. Highly recommended.

I stay here every few months and it's consistently delivers on quality, comfort and great service. Everything you'd expect from a + $100/night hotel room and service you'll find here. Plus enjoy the FULL breakfast (6am - 10am) and water slide pool park. Giant hot tub for the adults is located within a watchful eye to the park. Helpful hint: Rooms on the front side vice the back: Train tracks run along the back so its quieter out front.

Taka, the front desk attendant was excellent. Very polite, understanding and accommodating. He made our check in very pleasant and easy. Pool was clean and very entertaining. Stayed two nights and enjoyed every minute of it.

Great place to stay! The indoor water park was just the thing to tire out a 4 year old after her being stuck in a car all day. The beds were very comfortable. The included breakfast buffet had good selection, and though they did not usually serve it at that time of day, we were able to order a special meal to accommodate my wife's diet.

This is such a beautiful property, only complimented by its delightful and caring staff. I was literally treated like a King throughout my 2 day stay. Props to the management for inspiring an etiquette of such friendliness and professionalism. The rooms are spotless, and the food is remarkable. You can really tell that the personnel care that the guests enjoy their time at the Hotel. Thank you to all the staff at the Best Western who made my trip (which I wasn't looking forward to) an absolute pleasure.

Fantastic service, great accommodations, fabulous food and atmosphere. Wouldn't go anywhere else! I stay here 8-10 times per year and always look forward to arriving, it's an oasis in a sea of dust. Staff here are amazing, food is the best in town and the beds are a dream IMHO.

This is an amazing place to stay, a true gem in the North. The staff throughout the entire property are friendly and helpful. The food in the Lounge is incredible, and the breakfast buffet in the morning has everything you could expect and more for an inclusive offering. The rooms in the hotel are as clean and nice as you will find anywhere. I will go out of my way to stay here whenever I am in the area.

We checked into the room on August 16 to find actual puke on the bed which explained the funky smell. We called the front desk guy who simply said "I'll check to see if there is another room available [click]" who just hung up. No apologies. The restaurant staff are very friendly, but the food quality was poor. Our steaks had a funky shrimp taste as if it was fried in a pan just used for frying shrimp. This would explain all the empty tables. The rooms have 1 cup coffee makers but coffee pouches for 4-cup coffee makers.

Dear Darell, It is quite incredulous to hear about your experience here at our property and we have been trying to reach you at the number you provided to get more information regarding this supposed incident, but it seems that contact number is not even working at all. How can we give credence to a very grave allegation such as the one you are making when it cannot be even substantiated? We take great pride in the cleanliness of our guest rooms; all of our housekeepers follow stringent deep cleaning protocols with the aid of sophisticated equipment such as black lights and ultraviolet sanitizing wands. It would be ludicrous for us to even think that they would miss something as glaring as this. Each of our guest rooms are provided at least three (3) coffee cups and this not something we skimp on as it is part of our brand standard. If in case you needed more cups a simple phone call to the front desk and we would have gladly provided you some additional coffee cups. No food establishment worth their weight cooks their steaks on frying pans; we cook ours on the char broiler. very unhappy. Highly unliklely we will be staying at a Best Western in the near future. We were told someone would would fix the heat as the room was freezing and that did not happen. Desk attendent was rude. we have stayed at Best Westerns quite a number of time but this was the worst and overall Best Westerns seem to becoming more expensive and yet less accomadating. We have been much happier with Choice Hotels overall.

We are particularly interested in finding out if any of our staff was in fact rude to you because we train our staff to be warm and caring in all of their interactions with our guests, as can be attested to by other reviewers here. While it is true that the housekeepers are usually done for the day by about 4pm they are not the personnel who looks after heating issues; that would be a task for our maintenance people. The boilers for our in-room heating were still turned off at the time because it was the middle of summer and it was still around 25 degrees outside when you stayed with us, nonetheless we could have provided with you portable heaters and extra blankets which are available at the front desk if it was really that cold in your room. While we could not just simply COMP your room, as you wanted and our offer of a complimentary upgrade on your next stay still stands as a gesture of goodwill. I have stayed at various times in High Level enroute to Yellowknife from southern Alberta. The hotel was clean, the room was clean and the breakfast was good. What I found on this trip (late July 2015), was that the customer service was very good - good enough that I'm writing this review.
