    « Great Location »

It is excellent value for the money. The hotel is conveniently located close to the central location, as well as close to major tourist attractions, such as the Helsinki Cathedral and Market Square. It also has a great bar/café on the first floor called "Lost in Helsinki," which has great food for money and classic vintage decoration.

    « basic but comfortable »

Just a short distance from town centre and railway. Bed and room basic but comfortable and staff very welcoming, Good breakfast to start the day again all the standard foods available. Despite to trams travelling up and down the street the noise did not disturb us. Only there 2 nights but well looked after.

    « Great location »

This is the 2nd time myself and my husband stayed here. Our visit this time wasn't as pleasant as the first time unfortunately but i think this was mainly due to the bedroom that we were staying in. We had an issue with the bathroom and how the water from the shower spread all over the bathroom floor, it then took ages for the water to go down the drain and the floor to dry so if you went back into the bathroom after a shower to use the toilet or brush your teeth, there was a major slip hazard in there and it was very annoying as we had wet feet the whole time because the entire bathroom floor was wet. The room itself was fine, apart from both of the bedside lamps not working. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, very central and close to the train station. I would stay here again but request a different room..

« Not bad but could be better! »

Staff were very friendly, breakfast was good, the bed was ok, but the room needs to be freshened up - you can tell it's an old hotel. I only stayed for 3 nights and I would not recommend it for any longer stays. It says that the rooms have air conditioning but I don't think that was the case in my room (#216) - it was very warm! I'm a person who usually freeze but this was too much, I had to open the window a bit at night (even though it was around 19-12 minus outside). There was a radiator but it was difficult to regulate the temperature since there were no numbers. The rack for the face towel was broken and there was black hair in the sink when I checked in. There was some complimentary black tea in the room but no coffee, that would have been nice for a person like me who doesn't drink tea. If you are sensitive for noise - ask for a room not facing the street, there are teams passing right outside. There's also a Irish pub just next door and I was here during st Patrick's day - it was noisy! The hotel has a great location as for a city break - close to everything!

« Location and not too much more »

Need a place for 1 night close to the Central Railway Station in a city with expensive hotel, then BW Carlton seems a good spot. Small european style rooms, a bed, a heater, condensed bathroom, a desk and WIFI, enough for a biz stay. Location is ideal, walkable to anywhere in downtown. Breakfast was sparse and unappetizing, but adequate, waiters were a matter-of-fact.

    « Keskinkertainen »

A tidy little room with small bugs. The downstairs restaurant noise (friday) came into the room, as well as the staff's (garbage can/ tobacco spot?) noise in the courtyard. Good location, near metro and railwaystation.

    « Good location »

Stayed one night in Carlton as I wanted a hotel near the railway station, which is just around the corner. When I first entered the hotel I thought I'd come to a restaurant as the bar-restaurant downstairs seems to be quite a popular hang-around and the small reception is just in one of it's corners. The check-in was swift abd polite. The room on the first floor was quiet in spite of the fact that the hotel is beside a very busy street. The room itself was very basic with no extras. I had a twin room and the bed was very narrow but comfortable. The room was clean and well kept although it felt a bit outdated. The hotel has no extras except the restaurant downstairs and in that sense I felt that it was a bit overpriced. However, in comparison to the hotels nearby and taking under consideration the location I think it was a reasonable deal. The breakfast wasn't anything overwhelming, but good enough to get me going. I wish they'd served porridge and maybe have a wider selection of bread, but otherwise it was good. They didn't start serving breakfast before 7 o'clock and I think it's a bit late if you have an early flight or train to catch. However, I went there already 15 minutes earlier and could start although everything wasn't ready yet.

    « Cozy nice hotel »

Cozy and nice hotel for the short staying in the middle of the Helsinki. Everything, which is needed, is ok and in place, nice staff and great breakfast buffee. Short walking distances to shops, restaurants, museums, connections to airport, railway, busses, metro etc.

« Friendly staff, great location »

We stayed in this hotel on a trip with our friends in January. We had a wonderful time and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The rooms are comfortable and the location is great, within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants and bars. The breakfast was also very nice. A restaurant / bar, Lost in Helsinki, is located in the basement of the hotel. This adds a very nice cool atmosphere to the place and it is great to spend a nice time in the evening without having to go somewhere else. Despite the bar being in the same building there is no noise that goes up to the rooms. Overall, I would rate this hotel as being a nice small hotel with a very friendly touch. I would definetely recommend it and would also stay there next time.

    « Best location »

The hotel location is wonderful 100 mt to train station 10 meter to an irish bar very closed to the modern art museum .The staff is very nice and helpful .Entrance of the hotel there is a very nice restaurant named Lost In Helsinki with a qualified foods and the last nice suprise is the owner of the hotel is a wonderful Turkish man.

« Central Beauty with a cosy cafe & restaurant »

Love the hotel that is very near the main train station where we reached from the airport as the last stop. Food at Lost in Helsinki (cafe & restaurant at the hotel) is awesome. I love their cafe latte. It has a very cosy athmosphere with different kinds of sitting alternatives there. Rooms are very well decorated. The restaurant manager I guess who stayed for years at Katmandu was interested with us profoundly. She has a very gentile & kind approach with her customers. Recep & Necip, two brothers, helped us so much at the hotel. The basic feature of the hotel is the happiness and the smile you feel at the service. Feel like at home. Thanks a lot. I will definitely come back again.

    « Not so good »

I have stayed several times in this hotel, something was changed. Air conditioners sound was terrible, so loud. I Could not sleep without hearing protection. This was business trip, i have to change hotel to my next trip.

« Hotel with great location in Helsinki »

The location of this hotel in Helsinki is perfect if you wish to spend time and move around at the city centre of Helsinki. The appearance of the hotel is not the most traditional or luxurious one but everything works very well and the atmosphere is very friendly and nice. Breakfast is also nice and the food at the restaurant good as well. Great for business - but I might not bring my family to this hotel because of the location and the fact that there is a popular restaurant downstairs.

    4
« Good hotel and good location »

This is a hotel in good location near to railway station. We have been here couple times, and rooms are always clean and staff are helpful. Also price is suitable. They have made some changes in restaurant services, and now food wasn´t so good as it was year ago. Breakfast was quite normal finnish breakfast.

    4
« handy location not far from main rail station »

Hard to judge value for money as everything is relatively expensive in Finland. Unusual reception as appears to be a bar with coffee shop adjoining internally, only small hotel reception next to staircase. Room spacious but relatively small bathroom and unusual room layout likely due to being corner location of building. Easy to get around Helsinki on foot from this location.

    4
« Good location near central station. »

Convenience location in the town center. Well trained employees, they speak English very well and help customer nicely. No elevator in the hotel. You have to carry luggage to second floor. Breakfast is good.

    5
    « Nice hotel »

Nice hotel located near the central station. The reception shares the ground floor with a café a and a coffee shop. Room was clean and well serviced daily. Staff were friendly and the Wi-Fi good. Breakfast was also food. What more do ye need. Would stay again

    5
    « Great »

Right in the centre of Helsinki. Close to a Supermarket and the main rail station. Very nice staff. Breakfast had good selection. Had a single room which was very nice and clean. Wi-Fi worked very well.

    « Great stay! »

I strongly recommend this hotel to everyone. Hotel staff was super nice, the room was clean and spacious and bed was very nice to sleep. It was also quiet. Molly Malones next door is a nice bar to have a beer or two.

« Good service and central hotel »

We stayed for two nights and had a good stay. The staff was very welcoming and called the airport so we got good help when our baggage got lost on its way to Helsinki. There was some noice from the street.

    « Very Good »

Good location. Nice staff. Room was good, clean but small. Nice breakfast. Staff prepared a breakfast take-way due to my early depart to the airport. Easy to book a shuttle to the airport. Overall: very good,

    « great location »

Nice hotel, near city bikes and the people at the desk and preparing breakfast were wonderfully helpful and friendly. There were restaurants and shops nearby. Ask for a quiet room but with a window. The hotel offered a discount at the restaurant--we didn't see the discount until after we had eaten so missed out on that one but they had a nice menu.

    2
    « This is a hostel »

The hotel appears more like a hostel. The reception is in a cafe. The room was small. The bathroom was nice and clean though. The view from the room was into the small inner courtyard, straigt to the trash bins. The breakfast selection is poor. The quality of the offered food was rather good though.

« Best Best Western in Nordic countries »

This hotel has excellent location in city center and is in close reach to main railway station and harbors to Stockholm, St.Petersburg or to Tallinn. Hotel is recently renovated and is cozy with not too many rooms and very personal and warm service helping You around wherever You need to go. Restaurant is excellent offering e.g reindeer pasta and has excellent wines with decent price. Hotel is not expensive and therefore, I recommend You to reserve as early as possible.

« Perfect Location. Excellent Staff »

I was on a budget when I booked this property. And thankful I did. Despite the "Best Western" sign out front, I wasn't sure I was walking in the correct door - as it looked like a small bar - I guess I felt "Lost In Helsinki". But on entering, the staff were fantastic - all smiles, cheerfulness & helpful. I could not ask for more - this cheerfulness & helpfulness lasted my entire stay. The property is nice & cosy, very clean & functional. Great location just 5min walk to the central train station. I would gladly stay there again & again.

    « Perfectly fine choice »

A very comfortable and quiet hotel. With quite a main road and tram route outside I imagined it might encounter some room noise, no none. The room was a good size, very clean, immaculate bedclothes, towels etc, fast WiFi, tea and coffee. Breakfast was buffet and what is normal for most hotels with juices, tea and coffee, cereals, cold meats, hot sausage and bacon, eggs with muffins and basic fruits. Perfectly adequate to start the day. Very friendly helpful and efficient reception. And being a convenient few hundred metres from the train station arrival from the airport and a tram stop 100 metres away and a great choice of bars and restaurants within a similar distance it is perfectly located. We enjoyed a few very comfortable nights here.

    « Extraordinary setting »

Located in a very busy street and you'll have to look carefully to find the entrance, because the sign is modest and the entrance seems to lead in a bistro and cafeteria! And so it does! You go in and you are in a cafeteria and then you'll find the small reception desk in the back of the hall. To get to your room you climb to the next floor ( there doesn't seem to be an elevator) and the hotel rooms are in one corridor. I had a room facing the street and was surprised how quiet it was. Ten points for that! The room was somewhat modest, but the hotel is very centrally located in Helsinki.

    4
« Great location, excellent staff »

Best Western Carlton is in a great location, and it is very close to sights, restaurants, shopping, and transportation. The staff was professional and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The internet was high speed. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

« Top choice of hotel in Helsinki! »

Best Western Hotel Carlton is located in a very accessible location which is just a 5 minute walk from the Central Railway Station. The room size is considered just nice for 2 persons. Bed is comfortable and room is clean and very relaxing. Coffee and tea making facilities are also available. I am very pleased with the buffet breakfast spread. The hotel cafe is also in a very cosy setting where one can chill and enjoy the sumptuous meals. Thumbs up to the service personnel who assisted us with the check in. Markku and Mustafa are very polite, and offered to help carry my luggage to the 2nd floor as there is no lift facilities. If you're visiting Helsinki, I'll definitely recommend this hotel as an ideal choice. Keep up with the excellent service standards!

    « New Year Stay »

I'm happy that I chose again this hotel for my stay in Helsinki. Firstly, the location. There is no need to describe it, it's enough to have a look on the map. 5 minutes walking distance from the railway station, it's just perfect. We had a very nice room with small staircase down to the bed. It was always cleaned well with refreshed tea/coffee facilities. Reception was always available and we're ready to help answering any questions. Wi-Fi signal was always strong. When you stay with them, you get a good discount for in house restaurant. Restaurant is very popular by the way.

    « Amazing staff!!! »

We arrived early in the morning and they allowed us to check-in by noon which was wonderful after a long flight from the States. We were only there for one evening and when staff told us about the breakfast times and we said we would not make it due to the fact we needed to leave at 5:15am to get to the airport for a flight they were so accommodating! Staff asked us if we would like for them to have a take away breakfast prepared for us instead and we both were shocked! We have traveled all over and never once experienced this type of hospitality. When we came to the lobby the woman at the desk handed us our take away bags of our breakfast and a great cup of coffee! This really was a simple and amazing gesture!! Wonderful stay and would recommend to others traveling to Helsinki. The hotel is also a very quick walk to the train station. Wonderful!!!!

« Great hotel in a very central location »

We stayed here for a few nights in November and really enjoyed our stay. The room was large and clean and modern. Staff were friendly and there is a nice café/bar and lovely restaurant that we had lunch in one of the days, and the food is really nice and good value for money. Only slight issue was the heat in the room was quite hot, but I suppose it was so cold outside that they wanted to make sure you were nice, warm and cosy in the bedroom when you came in from the cold.

« Cool hotel in central Helsinki »

Looked for a central hotel close to the train station and main bus station. Bus from airport stop at this station (end station) and cost Euro6.50 takes about 30 minutes. The hotel is just up the hill behind the station. Good wifi connection and breakfast. Very querky one. Steps to first floor no elevator. Next to a good Irish pub which got live music every night. Shower fine, kettle in the room, bed ok. Restaurant and bar downstairs. I'll stay here again.

    5
« Very central and modern »

Friendly staff, very close to station, shops etc and yet quiet. Great restaurant and cafe downstairs and good breakfast. Lots added facilities E.g. computer and printer, tea, coffee and milk available. Spacious quirky room with great shower.

    3
    « Good value & location »

This hotel is in a good location, a couple of minutes walk from the central station and 5-10 minutes walk to the harbour front. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, despite it being late when we arrived. The breakfast was good and filling - we particularly liked the porridge. The rooms are a little dated and uninspiring - I suspect it has seen better days. But the price point in an expensive city and the location made up for that.

    2
    « Good location »

Good location but a real dump. The rooms are small, and I got put into a room which had no windows. I felt really claustrophobic. The wifi was weak. The only good thing about this hotel is the nice staff. One day the room never got cleaned. Only stay here if you don't have a better place to go to. I was surprised that Best Western has sunk so low. It was more like a backpacker place than a regular hotel.

    4
« Really central location in Helsinki »

Stayed at this hotel last Friday, the hotel staff were really helpful from the beginning. They allow us to drop our luggages at the reception and we had a late check-in since we want to visit a bit the city. Around midnight, when we checked in, we discovered that our luggages were already in the room and it was a kind gesture from the reception team. Breakfast was good. I would definitely reccommend it!

    3
    « perfect location, felt more like a B&B than a hotel »

this hotel has a perfect location and very friendly service! That said the rooms are in urge of an update and very very small! I was dissapointed there was no bath but only a shower and no place to put my toiletries too. Not much channels on tv. If you stay here on a Saturday night be warned! There is a disco with loud music that last until the very wee hours like 3 am! Breakfast was only until 9.30 am and not so special why we skipped it mostly as we didn't want to get up that early, i would probably not return to this hotel and try another one next time in Helsinki....

    4
« Excellent service & restaurant. Central location. A/C would definitely improve stay. »

The hotel is about 4/5 mins walk from the train (& airport bus) station. It is an unusual entrance to a hotel as it is essentially a single door into a coffee shop. The hotel reception is at the back of the coffee shop. The staff were extremely helpful/friendly and will deliver your bags to your room (if requested) due to the lack of a lift. Our spacious room was at the back of the hotel and we were able to open the window. This was a definite bonus due to the lack of air con. The was a small fridge in the room. The restaurant, which was part of the same complex, was excellent for evening meals. Can't recommend highly enough. The inclusive breakast was adequate with a reasonable choice.

    4
    « Clean, Quiet, Modern »

Great location, just a short walk from the train station. Modern room, adequate size, great water pressure, extra comfortable bed. Staff was attentive. Overall a very positive experience for international visitors.

« Spectacular Service, excellent location, No AC »

This hotel is located by museums, the train station, tour buses, and more. You really can't ask for a better location. It's not just the location that makes this hotel exceptional, it's the service. Reception was so nice and super helpful. We were able to lick our bags up while we walked around, both the day we arrived and the day of check out. The hotel is above a restaurant and cafe. I could not here the restaurant, however it can be loud. You hear other people's doors slamming closed and as there is no AC we opened the window for airflow - the street below is quite noisy and busy. When the windows are closed you cannot hear the hustle and bustle of the street below. AC would make this hotel so much nicer in the summer, even a fan to move air around the room would be nice.

    5
« Terrific hotel in terrific location »

This is a terrific hotel in a great location in Helsinki. Staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. Room was large and had a fridge. It also had a wonderful shower. The noise from the busy street below can be loud if the windows are open, but, once you close the double-paned windows, the street noise essentially disappears. The rooms are in the second floor with no elevator. I would definitely stay here again.

    4
« Good Hotel in the Center »

Our room was right on the street but we have never slept so well, undisturbed by the noise. Staff was pleasant and courteous and BBC which was not available the first 2 days for a technical problem, was fixed as promised in two days. Healthy Breakfast and soft jazz music were a good way to start the day. It is important to know that there is no lift and you will have to walk up till the 1st floor where rooms are located, and they did not offer to help us with our luggage.

    3
    « Rooms are nice »

Location perfect. In the heart of Helsinki. Still not too noisy. Minibar in the room. Rooms are basic, but ok. A bit different hotel experience; small reception, access with a code. Good sleep in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was a disappointment this time; no bacon, milk or juice; well yes but you had to ask for it.

    3
« It was a bed and some breakfast. »

The Best Western Carlton, is somewhat a bit odd place, walking into the reception, which by the way is tucked away behind the stairs to the rooms, you find yourself in the middle between a small restaurant/bistro and a coffee bar. The staff was friendly enough, and the wifi surprisingly was very good. They serve a small but useful breakfast and it has what you need for a good start.

    4
« Average hotel- good location and bar »

This city centre hotel is not special in itself, my room was a little small and was starting to look a little dated, but not yet shabby or old. An acceptable room that I felt comfortable relaxing in. The best feature of this hotel is that the ground floor is a thriving bar / restaurant. Traveling alone can be dull in the evening as I rarely have the energy or desire to go walking off into the night to find a bar. Generally I eat something, have one beer with food then watch some telly in the room, but here I was happy to do a little people watching after my dinner. Being centrally located I was able to walk to my meeting by the railway station in about 10 minutes and really enjoyed being in Helsinki, I have been in winter and spring and the difference in the weather makes a BIG difference. Google the weather before you go. This Hotel probably not the best but the price is good and the location is comfortable. Breakfast is a bit average? but ok. Don't get a room next to the stairwell, the security door on the first floor bangs..!!

    4
« Nice staff, very convenient location ! »

We, my wife and me,stayed at this hotel one night. Very convenient location just 3 minutes walk to the hotel from the Central railway station. The Finnair airport bus stop is also just opposite to the railway station. So you can save money on taxi. We requested for a quiet room and we got a very quiet room on the yard side, room nr 220 if I believe right. The reception staff was kind, polite. We got early breakfast on request , sandwich and coffee, together with a fruit, simple, but enough so early in the morning. The room was spacious, good value for the money. The shower place small, but most important thing, hot water functions well with good shower force.

    5
« Perfect Hotel when You are in Helsinki »

Hotel is located in excellent place just behind railway station. You can reach airport and other parts of the city very easily. Hotel is very small and You can get very personal service. Hotel has a good restaurant and service is excellent. All the nice restaurants, movie theaters are in walking distant. Market square and harbor is close by and You can reach ferry to Stockholm or Tallinn even by walking. Sleep quality is also excellent even though it is busiest part of Helsinki by the traffic. What is more, hotel is very economically priced.

    4
« Very good for a stay in the city »

The hotel is close to the main train station (where also the Finnair bus arrives) on the first floor of the building. The front desk is next to the Roberts Cafe. The rooms are on the first floor. We stayed in 207, which was ok. Breakfast was included and is served in the restaurant downstairs. All mayor attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. I would stay there again. Wifi was also free of charge and worked very well.

    4
« Very good, but noisy »

Nice hotel with good service and location near everything in Helsinki. Affordable rates including good breakfast. Good beds guarantee good sleep, but the street noise from public transport (trams and busses) start early in the morning. Perfect hotel for the price if you can get a room from the yard side of the building. Ask for it!

« Excellent location with decent price »

This hotel locates in the very center of Helsinki, just round a corner from Railway station. Hotel is recently renewed and everything is working as a perfect place for the stay. Hotel has excellent restaurant and the bar, and it is very pleasant way to relax on the evening. You do not need to find any place for the eat because this hotel has a gourmet meals. What is more, You will have a good overnight sleep with less than 100 euros just in the center of the city.

    5
« Good price, good service, convenient location in the centre of Helsinki, plus great overhead lighting in rooms »

Finally a hotel room with overhead lighting. This is my number one gripe for hotelrooms all over the world. Hotel Carlton has bed lights, desk light but also overhead lights in the room that provide ample lighting. For me this is truly a big plus. Wifi worked fine as well. Shower had lots of hot water. Desk was ample in size to use your laptop. The hotel has only 21 rooms. Not a lot, so if you want to stay here book ahead of time. The hotel is very conveniently located, just around the corner from the Railway station at the side of the bus plaza. The Metro station Helsingfors University (in Finnish: Helsingin Yliopisto) has an exit next to the hotel, and only a few meter up the street tram 9, 6 and 3 have their stop at Kaisaniemenkatu. There is no elevator, just a set of stairs and at the top a door with a keypad lock. The rooms facing the street might have street noise, but they also have a lively atmosphere. Personally I like that and I simply ignore any noise. I had room 206, right across from the coffee and tea facilities and the vending machine in the hotel corridor. Two kinds of cookies were there for your pleasure, twining teabags, two water cookers, instant coffee and liquid coffee creamer. My room boasted three double windows (literally two windows in front of each other). The windows all open up, which I like as I often find hotel rooms too stuffy even in winter. My room had a minifridge, a tv and a big enough bathroom with vanity, toilet and large shower space with a curtain. The room also had a comfy chair that I put in front of the windows. Due to their large ledge in front of the windows making it a nice set up to read a book while drinking a cup of tea or coffee. Truth be told the room dresser and cupboards were not in the best state of repairs. It did not bother me as it still was functionally enough. Also the hotel staff promised to repair it after my departure. While there I could not be bothered with it, but that was my choice. For me the spacious shower with lots of hot water and an intricate system of many water spouts were more important that whether the drawers are in good repair. The hotel's breakfast buffet has porridge, fruit loops, muesli, sour dough dark bread, whole grain light bread, white bread, knäckebröd, cream crackers, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, lettuce, cucumber and tomato slices, feta cheese, cottage cheese, sausages, bacon, cheese, cold cuts, fruits slices and whole, coffee, tea bags in many varieties, milk, apple juice, orange juice, small donuts, cookies. I am probably forgetting something, as there really is plenty to choose from. On Sunday there was an even larger selection with backed tomatoes topped with cheese and falafel patties. The Wifi signal in my room was strong enough to have several phone calls using skype over my laptop. I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful and I do recommend this hotel, even if some of the cupboards in my room had seen better days. I left my suitcase with the reception desk (it was locked away, very safe) to roam around Helsinki unencumbered by my stuff for a whole day before catching bus 615 Vatnaa Airport. NOTE: Bus ride of bus 615 did take about 45 minutes, so plan accordingly. Getting to the Hotel: Best Western Hotel Carlton is only a 4 minute walk from bus bay 12. I added two images of your walk from the bus to Hotel Carlton. When you arrive at the bus plaza, you walk back through the street that the bus just used to enter the open air bus plaza with the bus bays (name of street: Vilhonkatu). Stay at the right hand side of the street. Take a right at the glass pyramid. (name of street: Kaisaniemenkatu). Cross the street (entrance of Metro station ?Helsingfors University' is right in front of you). Hotel Carlton is where it says ?Robert's Coffee'. The lobby/reception desk is to the left of the stairs. (The hotel has no elevator, but the staff will help you up the stairs with your suitcase) Tip 7: when leaving look up your bus schedule online ( I am not allowed to post the url by tripadvisor, sorry about that) or look at the digital screen with bus numbers and times of departure next to bus bay 1 on the bus plaza next to the railwaystation. Tip 1: pick up a free Helsinki map at the airport, it has the tramroutes, metro and other points of interest for you. This same map can be found at the reception desk of the hotel. Tip 2: There are two ways to get to the hotel: by train and by bus. Be advised that in Finland trains often suddenly don't run. Bus 615 will get you to the Helsingfors Railway station in the centre of Helsinki as well. It will deposit you at an off loading bay, perpendicular to bay 12 on the bus plaza, which is situated to the right hand side of the Helsinki railway station. Tip 3: In the airport corridor leading to the trains, as well as in the bus bays of the busses at the airport bus plaza, there are machines that sell you your bus/train tickets (In English if you wish). Besides buying one ticket for your bus ride, you have the option here to choose 1 day, up to to 7 days, tickets for all public transport in the Helsinki city centre and adjoining areas (Vantaa airport - Helsingfors ? Espoo). The more days you pick the cheaper it gets. The ticket is valid on busses, trains, trams and metro in the Vantaa, Helsingfors and Espoo area. You can use it to get from airport to the city and back and to travel around in Helsinki. You can also use it on a number of ferries. Tip 4: Use your debit and credit card everywhere for paying. At restaurants paying with your card for your part of the bill is normal. Asking for split bills is normal too. Tip 5: I bought a 4 day ticket which cost was not much over two rides on a bus/metro/tram. NOTE: I did not get a real ticket, nothing more than the payment receipt and that was my ?ticket' for the 4 days in Helsinki. Luckily I had a plastic cover in my bag that I could use for this tiny slip of paper to keep it from crumbling. Tip 6: If you can buy it, opt for the green rectangular ?pass' and load your choice of travel (one ride, day pass) on that public transport pass. It is a more sturdy ?travelpass' to use without the fear of it crumbling to useless paper scraps. NOTE: Only in the bus you show your ticket to the driver when entering. You simply enter the tram or the metro(station) without having to show your ticket. There is a different system if you use the green ?pass', I have no information on how that works. Locals told me that you can actually walk underground from metro stop Helsingfors University all the way to the Kamppi metro station passing the Railwaystation metrostation. They did warn me that it is a maze, but if you have an adventurous spirit that might just be fun. Tip 7: There is a supermarket in the basement of the building next door for bread etc. There are also a number of restaurants of the lower priced variety, price range is understandable as this is the university metro stop. At the Kamppi busstation there is a Lidl supermarket (at the end of the corridor that starts with Starbucks on the left and Picnic on the right; also the corridor which has the busbays 41- 57) Walk all the way to the back and up a flight of steps. Tip 9: Incidentally, you can find where it is by touching the changing ads in the lighted display stands on this floor. Besides displaying advertisements these lighted displays also serve as touch screen route planners for your shopping. Robert's Coffee and Iguana Restaurant: Eclectic choice of pasta, pizza, burrito, hamburger. Average prices (meaning not really cheap)

« Close to everything and great! »

I have had this hotel for a business trip, and it was really great because it was in the city center and you can easily get to anywhere in no time. Tram, metro and bus stops just around the corner, also the Helsinki Central Railway station is like 5 minutes walking distance. The room was spacious, clean and cleaning done everyday. Did not have the chance to try the breakfast, but know the area otherwise and the restaurant that offers them the breakfast, so I suppose that's not a minus. The only downside is that if you have a room with a street view and happen to be there during an event going on, you pretty much gonna hear it, windows opened or not.

    « Superb location »

This hotel is basic but comfortable & clean, the central location is ideal for exploring the city. On the ground floor you have a coffee shop and a bar / restaurant which are both open to the public and can get busy at times, though I never had a problem using either. The staff were particularly helpful and polite from checking in to checking out and securing my bags for the day. I would say this hotel has a good vibe for the younger traveller and couples but this should not put anyone else off as you do have a mix of age groups. My only gripe would be no toiletries left out in the bathroom apart from some wall mounted soap so ensure you take some. This hotel was great value for me and the location was ideal.

« The hotel is close to Central railway station »

Unfortunately that was the one advantage of this hotel. The room was small and it's really need renovation at all. TV had only 2 chanells. We were woken up at 5 am with a terrible noise and couldn't sleep any more. This hotel would be a good choise for a night if you had a stopover in Helsinki on your way, that is close to railway station (only 5 min on foot) and tram stops you can get ferry's harbours with.

« Great location, not glamorous, good value »

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of October. The location was fantastic - a very easy walk to everything, tram and bus stops and metro station right outside our door. The room was good and interesting to be in - the bathroom up a few stairs from the bedroom. It's very noisy in this hotel - lots of people having fun every night and a busy cafe throughout the day - but this area is very well separated acoustically from the rooms and the double glazing also takes care of the city noise outside the window. Breakfast was a bit pedestrian but hey, it was more than adequate and good value for the price.

« Good location but some issues »

The staff members were very helpful. The breakfast buffet was OK (get there early for the better eggs). The room needed some upgrade, except for a nice bathroom. The real problem, which would not bother some people, is the noise. There is traffic noise (no honking, but buses and trams and cars), and people noise from the bars nearby on the front. If you close the double window, the sound is mostly muffled but then the room is hot and stuffy. It was not impossible in September, but in the summer it would be a big problem, as there is no air conditioning. We were told that the rooms on the back had no windows, so that was not an option. Maybe the rooms on the side would be better, but there aren't many of those. I used earplugs even with the window closed. But my husband had no problem with any of the noise issues. And the price is right.

    « Helsinki gem »

My wife and I traveled to Helsinki to visit family. We tried to get into more expensive hotels but couldn't and I'm glad. This was a fantastic place to stay. We were able to walk 5 minutes from the central train station to the hotel. Right in the heart to Helsinki. We could walk to all the shopping centers and the open market as well as the ships to go to Estonia. Hotel was very comfortable and the staff was outstanding. Breakfast was very good and nice to have it included. Great stay and a great place.

    « Good location »

Best western hotel close by the central station, good location. Ordinary room with no international TV channels except of Sweden channels. Breakfast buffet needs some variety and is quite ordinary. Positive side is the location, negative side is the breakfast buffet and the room which was ordinary. Wifi in the room was weak, I had to go to the lobby to get good connection.

« Central, great location, next to parking house, next to train station »

Take this hotel if you want to be in town centre. It is not to expensive. (no elevator) You can meet interesting people in a hotel bar with good food. The bar is to be converted to a breakfast place in the morning. Walking distance to esplanade, catedral and market place. Next to the hotel is entrance to big underground parking house (not cheap).

« Good hotel in great location »

Reasonably priced hotel in a great location for exploring the city, and also close to the railway station. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice. My room was at the back of the hotel which could be a little noisy due to a large extractor fan outside, but I guess that the main road side would have been noise too. It didn't stop me sleeping, even with the window open.

« Reasonable but quaint room »

It's hard to comment whether this was value for money as we happened to be here during the World Gymnastics Championship and accommodation in Helsinki was even more expensive than usual. The bathroom was a wet room but the shower good. Hairdryer provided. No safe and no aircon when room was a bit stuffy. A kettle, tea and coffee provided in the corridor. Staff were helpful
