In fact a business hotel, which normally turns me down. However this hotel is nicely decorated and furnished with plenty of space, comfortable beds, good sanitary area, enough light and air-condition. In addition it is nicely located directly at the HOCHBAHN respective S-BAHN which brings you in one station to the Airport or other direction into the city with habour and all other attractions. Simply perfect! But: ask for a silent room, if you sleep with open windows. We stayed two times there and the silent rooms are really okay (inner yard with parking lot, respective one side of the house is not directed to the main street or railway). The parking lot is expensive with 18h, in the evening you can stay in the turn-around of the street. The staff is engaged and friendly, the room clean. So considering price and offer this hotel is a big match.
Our reservation was cancelled due to Coronavirus. The managers wrote an email to us saying that we would receive a refund by the end of April. We patiently waited, but no refund was paid. We contacted them again recently, and they told use explicitly that since they have no income, they will hold the funds indefinitely. As if being in financial distress gave them the right to hold money that is not theirs! Guess what? Everybody is in financial distress these days, but that doesn't give you the right to take money from strangers. We are now in the process of filing a report with the German police and starting a civil lawsuit to try to recover the funds. In the meantime, we can only advise whoever is reading this review to stay away from such a dishonest business.
Room was quite good and spacious. Bathroom-toilet have no door, so there is barely any privacy. Keys (magnetic cards) often stop working. Lobby looks cool with comfortable sofas to sit on. Hotel restaurant was very fine. Food is very good.
The room was clean and well decorated. The bed was really comfortable and we had a great nights rest. Not something that is always guaranteed. All the amenities we needed are there and everything is well laid out. The location is convenient as is the restaurant.
nice hotel with fancy rooms. I like the open concept with no door in the bathroom, just for the really "private business", if you know what I mean :) the red colours are nice, room was clean. breakfast was good with delicious food. staff was friendly and helpful, would stay there again.
Hotel was clean and comfortable, and my stay was pleasant. The restaurant was just ok, but was handy when I was too tired to venture out. The best thing though is the location just a few steps away from the train station. Walk right out the door and you're on your way to the airport or anywhere else in the city. Super convenient!
I always stay here when visiting Hamburg for work as it's located right by Ohlsdorf train station, very quick & easy trip to work & only one stop to the airport as well. The hotel is clean & tidy, the rooms are modern & comfortable, the WiFi is good. Breakfast is expensive & served in the adjoining restaurant, Ribling, which has bad service & the food isn't that great. The hotel itself is more than comfortable though
Lovely hotel in a great location for reaching anywhere in Hamburg as it is right by an S-Bahn station. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff. We nearly always stay here and visit Hamburg at least 3 or 4 times a year. Nothing we don't like - if there has to be something, then the bar closing at midnight. However, there are bars further into Hamburg with easy access on the S-Bahn.
This is a great Best Western hotel. It's modern design and material mix offers as many joys as the vast breakfast buffet. I slept well in the comfortable, clean and spacious room. The parking lot offeres plenty of spaces. The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of the airport and the harbour.
Best Western Amedia is an amazing accomodation is its category. The location is practical, only 1 stop away from the airport with S1 and directly on the line to the city center. Main station can ne reached in not more than 15 minutes. The comfort rooms are very spacious, the wifi signal is strong and stable. I did not try the breakfast as it is a bit overpriced for 15 euros / day. It would be required to consider by management decrease in the price, then more guests would choose this option. All in all I can recommend this hotel for leisure and business trips.
It is a good hotel though, but quite expensive and had a too small blankets. Furthermore, there are some additional costs for the parking (€18) and breakfast (€15). Rooms are spatious and the personnel is friendly!
Good internet, and they have a nice restaurant at very good prices or there are a couple around the corner of similar quality. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always happy to give advice or call a cab, etc. Only strange thing is the door locks which you have to get the timing just right when you turn the handle for it to open. Overall a great stay
This weekend we visited Hamburg for 2 days, so we spent one night in this hotel (like a few times before). The room was good again, nice bed a very good bathroom. We decided to book the breakfast for 15€ per person. Unfortunately the rolls were not fresh and they forgot to tell us, that the breakfast time will end at 10:00 that morning and not at 10:30 as mentioned on the plan (the reason was a Jazz event, which startet at 10:30 already on the terrace of the breakfast room). So we had to eat and drink in 20 minutes and they didn't refill the juice dispensers, scrambled eggs etc. To be honest, we discussed this situation with the hotel management in a friendly way. They gave us a free car parking for this night. Conclusion: communication must be better!
This hotel is near of train station and whenever you want need a ticket then travel all hamburg and after that you may have good sleep at your comfortable bed. Very quick check-in and check-out, delicious breakfast. I beleive that next time i will select same hotel.
Very quick check-in and check-out. Quiet from street noise and neighbors on the 4th floor. 30 minutes by U-bahn or S-train to mid-town, safe and easy. The station is 50 meters from the hotel's front door. A/C couldn't keep up with the 30+ temperatures we had in late May. Disappointing breakfast; slow and not 4 star worthy coffee machine, the buffet was not re-filled, the scrambled eggs were cold. Good sized room and comfortable bed.
Worse Experiance ever Staff is really rude , Breakfast under avarage (15 euro too much for such a breakfast). i did check out 20 mnts after 12:00 had to pay 10 euro for delayed checkout . rooms r small with WC has no door Never Again
The location is perfect is visiting Lufthansa or Airbus. At the airport, only a short bus ride away, and the hotel even give you a free bus pass if you want one. The rooms are nice and modern with a well maintained bath room, so nothing to worry about on that side of things. There is a small bar and a nice restaurant, so great for a swift business trip. I must say this is my hotel of choice when visiting Lufthansa, staying 4 or 5 times a year.
Best option for a short business stay. Value for business, kind staff, modern furniture, absolute clean rooms. Two cozy restaurant are just behind the corner. Breakfast room is spacious and full of light. I recommend the place for a business trip.
Stayed here for 1 night as I was visiting for a funeral at the local crematorium. I wasn't expecting much, but booked this hotel due to it's location to both the airport and crematorium. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is SUPER clean - even the shared toilets in the basement (used if your in the lobby or restaurant areas) were spotless. It's very conveniently located close to the airport and train station. 1 stop from Hamburg airport, and just a hop skip and a jump from Ohlsdorf station. Would have given 5 star rating, but.... restaurant food - edible, but a it 'meh' and there weren't any toiletries in the double room we booked (you must call reception for toiletries). Other than that, very pleasant stay, and would recommend for a short stopover if you need to be close to the airport.
Showed up at 2:34 pm. Check in is at 3:00. "You can pay €15 to check in early". Yea, I hope I do pay an additional 15 Euro to check in a half hour early. On top of that, people are piling in by the bus load, literally, and being given the keys to their rooms. No questions asked. I'm the only idiot sitting here in the lobby. The couple in front of me, checked in no different than I requested. No fee, nothing. "We would like to check in now", desk clerk:" Ok, no problem". Plain English. While I get turned away. It's taken me 3 minutes to write this and 2 other parties, without the €15 Euro fee (in both English and german) were allowed to check in. I haven't even seen my room yet but I really don't care.
We stayed here overnight to catch a flight the next day. The hotel was very pleasant. The room looked recently refurbished room with very comfortable and modern interior, rainforest shower, and a luxurious bed. The staff was also super-friendly and spoke perfect English. There is also very easy access to the airport. The station for local trains is directly opposite the hotel and it's only one stop to the airport.
I stayed for 1 night on a stop in Hamburg before moving on elsewhere. It is only 1 train station away from Hamburg airport and was the perfect place, it was very easy to find as long as you know to walk immediately to the right across the grass after exiting the train station to find the entrance to the hotel as it was not super obvious. The room was very nice and comfortable and the surrounding area is lovely! Right across the road is the largest cemetery in the world and is well worth a visit as it is beautiful! The staff at the front desk are lovely and very helpful. It is also incredibly easy to catch a train straight in to Hamburg city centre.
Very modern and felt like it was recently renovated. The U-Bahn was very close and the park across the street is beautiful and fascinating (the largest cemetery in Europe I believe). They charge for parking (18 Euros?) and for breakfast - but overall we thought it was a very good value. If you are driving there, the hotel can be hard to find. The entrance is off Alsterdorfer (as noted on their website) although the GPS directed us to Fuhlsbuttler Strasse. There is traffic noise in the area, but with the windows closed it was very quiet.
This hotel is a good option for travellers looking for somewhere to stay close to the airport or in the Northern suburbs of Hamburg. It's located about 10 minutes by taxi from the airport, so its well placed without being on the immediate perimeter of the airport like some of the other local hotels, so is very quiet. Rooms are well appointed. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom facilities are not closed off from the bedroom, so you may not wish to share if you're travelling on business, but this is a small issue. Breakfast buffet is fairly good, but nothing special compared to some other German hotels I've stayed at, but you certainly will not go hungry. Happy to recommend Best Western Amedia Hamburg and would stay here again in future
From Hamburg airport, take S1 train and get off at Ohlsdorf (only 1 stop), when you get off the train, follow the exit sign and walk downstairs to exit. Once downstairs, turn toward the right hand side. Right when you passed the "entrance/exit gate", look immediately on your right hand side, you will see a taxi or 2 park there waiting, look pass the taxi, you should see the entrance of the hotel. Walk pass the taxi and the hotel is right in front of you toward the left hand - It is about 3 minutes walk from Ohlsdorf station. If you need to go to the Central station (Hauptbahnhof), just take the S1 and it's only about 7 or 8 stations away (make sure that the train that you are on headed to the correct direction of your destination). Room has a decent size, and really clean. Shower has good pressure and hot. Breakfast was really good and the service is wonderful. Receptionists speak good English and very helpful if you need direction or have any question. This hotel is also about 10 minutes walk to a decent supermarket and a pharmacy next to it in case you needed it. This is a plus because I like to get my cookies/candies etc...to bring back home with a decent price and many authentic selections to choose from. If I have a chance to be in Hamburg, I would stay in this hotel again.
Our flight was unfortunately diverted to Berlin from Hamburg, and when I called to let the hotel know we would be coming a day later they refused to change the reservation and still charged us for a night that we weren't there for. Very disappointing from a brand like best western, terrible customer service. The hotel itself was basic but functional, in an out of city location but conveniently near the subway. The bathroom has no door, meaning privacy is impossible and it's quite loud at night. The wifi was also very bad. Wouldnt stay again due to their inflexibility and bad service.
Very bad internet connection. Very bad hvac system. I am freezing in room. When i say this to reception he says that the hotel pass the summer season. The degree in night is 1 or3 celcius. I won't stay anymore.
Stayed here because close to airport. This hotel is extremely convenient for the airport. It is 50 meters from the S1 station and the next stop on the S1 is airport. The hotel itself is nice, up to date. Great breakfast but expensive if you book separately. Rooms are quite modern if small by American standards. But the wifi works and the room is comfortable. They have an onsite restaurant that seems nice enough even through I walked down the road some to have dinner. The only glitch I had was at check in I waited 15 minutes for the one desk clerk to check in the party in front of me that had a problem with their reservation. Another person came out of the office, but did not help them or me.
A friend booked this and it was a pleasant surprise. It is easily accessible to the airport but also right next to the ubahn station for going downtown. We were in the centre in about 15 minutes with no hassle whatever time of day. Rooms were very presentable and breakfast was excellent. Only quibble would be very thin towels and light bedclothes !
The rooms have a "warm" feeling and are clean. The hotel staff were friendly. The location is great, being right beside U/S station (Ohlsdorf) which is 15 mins ride from city centre and one stop from the airport.
I stayed in this hotel for its location near to the Sporthalle for a concert. It's also only one stop on the S1 from the airport. Very convenient. To get to the Sporthalle you take the U1 for 15 mins. Easy. My room wasn't ready so I took the S1 for 20 minutes into the city to wander around. Room was fine, wifi was good, and there's a few little eateries in the train station to stock up on snacks if you need to. Paid a reasonable 75 Euros for the night.
Excellent locating 4 star hotel with 50 meters walk from S/U-bahn station Ohlsdorf. 3 minutes to airport and about 20 to city center. Spacious room with all needed stuff, fast wireless internet, complimentary tea coffee and water. The only issue is they do not give you even a breakfast on the go if you leave earlier than they start serving it. Not a big deal but still. Few grocery stores and restaurants in the area. If you want to stay overnight and not in the airport then it is a perfect choice.
The hotel is located in a suburb of Hamburg next to a metro station, making it convenient from the airport, only 1 station and very low cost, on the down side, if your room faces the railway lines you get noise from the trains. if you want to go into the city, the train line is good again, but also outside the hotel is a taxi rank and some bus stops, so transport is good. The rooms and corridors as reported in other reviews do have a smell of mold masked by something, so a down side. on the positive side the staff are very helpful if you need advise on transport or eating in the area. My normal question, will i stay again, sorry to say no, there are better sister hotels from Best Western in the area, plus many other chains.
We overnighted in Hamburg after an international flight. The hotel shuttle came quickly to pick us up. We settled into our room and then went to the on site restaurant. The dining staff was friendly and accommodating and they have one or more excellent chefs on staff. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented! I had a lamb dish, which I thoroughly enjoyed and my husband enjoyed a pork dish. The restaurant is reportedly so good that people in the area come there to eat. I know we would travel to eat there if we lived in the region! The check in and checkout process was easy and staff members were very helpful. Our room was very clean and the beds were wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The attractive partially brick hotel is nestled into a quiet neighborhood. There is a lovely bricked patio area with tables and umbrellas outside the dining room of the restaurant. This hotel provided us a wonderful welcome to Germany!
We were in Hamburg for one night only and chose this hotel because it was a convenient distance from the airport. We wanted a comfortable bed, a modern bathroom and a good meal. We were extremely satisfied with all three of these and the staff were very hospitable. Our only regret was that we did not have time to see the sights in Hamburg.
The location was great ,as SBahn is close by to take you to the airport or into the city. Bicycles are for rent just outside the station too and opposite the hotel is the very large and beautiful Ohlsdorf Park cemetery, that invites for a cycle ride. The staff are very helpful and friendly, super clean rooms and free wi fi. Free parking in the culdesac outside the hotel or you can pay to stay in the secure underground carpark. A very comfortable stay and as we have family living in Hamburg we might become regulars!
Hotel is very well connected to public transport system only 1 station away from Hamburg airport. Room was very well designed incorperating the wash room into the room nicely. Perfect place for connecting between two flights between 3 continents. Very prompt and very friendly room service. Uncomplicated and fast and friendly check in and check out service.
We stayed at the Best Western Amedia in summer 2015 for 2 nights as we going to see Faith No More in Concert. Its a nice clean fairly modern hotel close to the airport, I think we were only one stop away. The Ohlsdorf station is about 50m from the hotel which was fantastic. Didn't use much of the hotel facilities but the rooms were reasonably spacious, 2 double beds, desk, flat screen etc. The shower was great, one of the overhead rainfall ones. The only think that is a bit strange is that the shower is separated from the sleeping area by some opaque glass not a wall. I'd also recommend getting a lahmacun Turkish pizza from one of the shops in Ohlsdorf station, it was huge and only about 4Euros.
you get a lot for your money: nice rooms, good bathrooms very good breakfast - buffet style the restaurant is not operated by the hotel and you cannot charge your dinner on the hotel bill. nice bar, indoor and outdoor seating very good: the subway is very close and you reach the famous alster, jungfernstieg, city hall or the unique harbour for small money in 20 minutes parking lot and garage
Overall,.. the staff were fantastic, however the rooms lacked decent air conditioning, which was the main reason why I booked this room. The price seemed high for what you received. I did like the location to the S Bahn however. I think the process of parking your car needs to be better explained when you check in. This was not explained to me and I had a difficult time finally figuring it out.
Stayed for just one night but nice big room and a great shower. Staff were helpful. In a very good location opposite a local train station that takes you straight into the city centre. Good price considering location being so close to airport and city. If visited hamburg again would stay here
We slept in this hotel just one night because our flight from Hamburg to Milan had a large delay. Everything was perfect and clean and the room was huge. It seems the perfect hotel for business men and women who have to stay in Hamburg only for a couple of days.
Awful smell of drains in very basic room. Complained with no suitable solution offered. "Room spray" solution makes me think this hotel is well aware of its drainage issues. Feels like this is going to be a very long night. Also advised not to have breakfast here as hotel restaurant is likely to be busy.
My Partner and I stayed here for 4 nights because of it's convenient location right next to the station, however the hotel itself was poor. Unfortunately I have to agree with past comments about the damp/mildew smell, the corridors were very unpleasant with the smell, although our room itself didn't smell. Whoever thought out the interior of this hotel really need to rethink their career, the décor was more suited to the toilets in a public house or a prison block. I especially hated the room design, there was no self contained bathroom only an open plan area giving no privacy at all. The room was open plan, the toilet had no light in it so if you got up in the night the only lighting option was to put the main room lights on waking up anyone who was asleep plus it had only a frosted glass door which you could see through!! The shower was a large cubicle with open sides into the room, one had frosted glass (which you could see through) the other side was clear glass so anyone could see through even the hotel staff should they come into the room? Why would anyone want to be seen having a shower! The WIFI didn't work during our stay and the hotel staff didn't really seem to care much about this or offer any kind of explanation. I wouldn't rush to go back
Nothing wrong with the hotel, nothjng special either. If looking for a quiet place, I'd keep looking. 24/7 you hear the traffic. The room temperature was not controllable and with 23° it was way too hot for me. Considering the traffic, open windows were no option either
Stayed for business trip. Thought it was closer to airport (my fault) and there was no transport, so had to take a taxi as had an early flight and the trains were not running yet. Value for money average because of this. But a nice hotel, nice rooms, great bed and pillow. Restaurant not really for vegetarians but a shop 10 mins away so you can go buy something! Would not go back, would try for the Ibis again next time.
Right place to be in Hamburg: outside from city center but few tens of meters from U-bahn and S-bahn station, and 1 only S-bahn stop to airport. Nice rooms without noise, comfortable bed, wide choice of tv channels, restaurant if needed...
This is my second stay at the hotel, and sadly, I won't be back. The first time we stayed here, our room had a mildewy smell coming from the drains. It was strong whenever you entered the room. We did note it to the staff at the time. Fast-forward to this visit. I had forgotten about the previous mildew issue, and remembered that I liked the free wi-fi, and the close proximity to our destination. I was excited to return because we were going to get around by train this time, and it is right next to a major train/bus hub, and only 1 train stop away from the airport! It's a long but easy ride downtown to all the major areas! Just loved this aspect of our stay! We had room 143 this time, and we encountered the same nasty, mildew smell in this room. There is no way the staff can overlook this odor. If the windows aren't open, it will knock you down when you come into the room! Furthermore, on this trip, our "free" wi-fi was down for our entire stay, as was the TV. We were not offered any price offset, free breakfast, etc., for our troubles. The staff was nice and spoke good English. The breakfast is expensive but varied. The hotel, with the exception of the mildew smell in the rooms, is clean and fresh. The layout of the bathroom might be off-putting to some - there is almost no privacy. There is frosted glass in the shower that provides a floor show for those lying in the beds. That might be a plus, except that this time around, our son was with us, so there was a fair amount of, "Turn your head while I get dressed." This was not a big deal to me, but I think some folks wouldn't like it. I want to like this hotel, but we will try something else next time we are in Hamburg.
Convenient location about 5 minutes by train from the airport and about 20 minutes from town. Hotel is in a quiet area with Europe's largest cemetery across the road, although the view is of many large trees. Rooms were bright and modern, free WIFI, the restaurant was good in the evening and not too expensive, although did feel that breakfast was expensive. Ohlsdorf railway station a just a short walk away maybe about 50 meters.
Hotel itself has a comfortable size. Rooms are modern & clean. The beds and all the pillows were very comfortable. The shower was very good. Hotel parking was an expensive necessary evil. We did not use the breakfast offer because it was too expensive for the amount we eat. There's a great little backery/snack/cafe across from the hotel; perfect for something small.
The hotel is just located beside the Ohlsdorf station along the S1 line. It takes about 5 mins to airport and 20 mins to central station. The room is spacious enough for two and very clean. By taking the U or S1 line, one can easily travel to most part of Hamburg. You can also rent a bicycle from the auto kiosk outside the station or from the hotel.
Very nice hotel in Ohlsdorf, Hamburg. Reasonably priced, friendly staff, very clean and modern. Next to a U1-Bahn and S1-Bahn station and close to the airport this is a very useful location in Hamburg. Pros: Good value, good location, new and clean Cons: The free Wi-Fi works but occasionally dropped out and a re-connection was required.
A nice room. Very modern and comfortable.. The restaurant was very fine, and had many dishes. Breakfast was very fine to. Located in a district in North Hamburg, with not too much noice. Located next to the Metro-station. So it took 25 minuttes to the harbour at St. Pauli.
The three nights at this hotel were an add on to a short cruise and were the "poor relation" as far as we were concerned but we were pleasantly surprised. We knew that the hotel was a way out of town but we bought Hamburg cards giving us unlimited travel and the hotel is right next to the station so getting around is really easy as the S and U Bahn are very frequent and quick. An added bonus was being only one stop from the airport for the return flight. There was also a bus stop right outside. We were not aware of any traffic noise as the room was effectively double glazed. The downside was that it was noisy with the window open so we had to rely on air conditioning. The hotel is also situated opposite the entrance to the largest cemetery in Europe which is a beautiful area covering many acres and more like a lovely park than a graveyard. Businees-wise,however the hotel's main neighbours are florists, stonemasons and funeral directors but the main road and area around the hotel is tree lined and very pleasant. The other side of the station there is an indoor and outdoor swimming complex and easy access to the river which is very picturesque. The room was modern and very comfortable but "no frills" . A nice touch was coffee and tea making facilities although the only teabags were Earl Grey and there was no provision for milk thus catering to the German taste for drinking aromatic tea without milk. I bought some alternatives and some milk which stayed fresh in the minibar fridge for our stay. There was also a safe. The staff were friendly and obliging and happily stored our cases at the beginning and end of the stay. We paid extra for breakfast but there are several places in the station where you can pick up a filled roll and a coffee for a fraction of the cost. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back.
a true best western quality that never disapoints me! Been here for just one night, clean nice with good internet wifi. it is very close to the S-bahn, you are just one stop away from the airport. on thing don't go to the restaurant next door you can find much better
