Hotel Villan, BW Premier Collection - Restaurant Disponenten The Hotel Villan, BW Premier Collection is ideally located in the center of Gothenburg. Come and experience our hotel near the major tourist attractions. Best price guaranteed and exclusive deals.

The Hotel Villan, BW Premier Collection®, which translated means The Villa, is a fashionable and cultural building that was once management headquarters for Eriksberg’s shipyard during the ship building era. Decisions made here came to affect the entire ship building industry in Sweden. We have transformed this residence with its fine old traditions into a little hotel with a personal and exclusive atmosphere. The hotel opened in the spring of 2008 with 26 rooms. On the waterfront near downtown, our unique location in Goteborg’s exclusive and peaceful waterfront, just 10 minutes travel distance from downtown Goteborg offers a range of possibilities. This means you as our guest can easily choose between peaceful quiet relaxation and a more upbeat city pace. Just step outside the hotel for a lovely stroll along the docks followed by a mean in our restaurant on the second floor, with the river and city lights twinkling in the background. Or for a change of pace, why not take the ferry or the bus into the city center?

"Super place at a great price. Highly recommend it."

As a Best Western member I got a dream deal last Saturday night. I thought there might have been a catch. But no. It is the real deal. Great decor. Well kept. Friendly reception. Great breakfast. I have too say this is was the best hotel deal I've had in Europe over the past decade. It is easy to get to by bus or water ferry. Its a 1/2 a block from the ferry terminal and 15 to 20 minutes from central train station. It located across from downtown Gothenburg on the North side of the river. The hotel has lots of old shipbuilding photos of Eriksburg in the hallways that i found very interesting. One tip pin point it on your gps as the streets are confusing in that area.

Called Best Western, but still privately driven hotel. The hotel is done with a lot of style and everything is in line with a scandinavian/sea-theme style. Very friendly staff, an excellent restaurant and breakfast, very nich furnished rooms. Renovated in 2008 from an old typical wooden house. The hotel is located in front of the river. Excellent location for joggers who wants to go for a run and to breath some fresh air. Parking is possible around the hotel for just 5 EURO per 24 hours! Good connection to the highways.

This hotel has both advantages and disadvantages: Advantages: 1) Perfect location! It is located in the city center and beautiful surroundings are around. 2) Polite administrator. 3) Clean room. Disadvantages: 1) VERY cold room. I slept with two blankets in the beginning of September. 2) It is very dark in the bathroom. To put on the make up is a challenge :) 3) Electrical sockets are not located nearby the bed. 4) Only savory breakfast. I have missed pancakes or sweet buns. I have noticed only Nutella and Peanut butter. Things to take in consideration: 1) Paid parking. But in only costs 50 SEK for the 24 hours. 2) There are no ironing in the room. Also no telephone to call to the reception and ask if they have one. In overall, hotel is okay, but I would choose it for the next time only because of the location,

" not stay here!"

It's 12.30 in the morning and the disco opposite is going full pelt until 2.00 am. with the sounds reverberating through our room. We are at the end of our tether after three days here! As a previous reviewer stated this is not a hotel it's a hostel and not a very good one! What's good? Very little! Large waste paper baskets in the room and individual umbrellas outside each door! What's bad? Everything! Rooms so small my wife and I could not pass each other at the bottom of the bed. The reception manned for about an hour a day. No staff in hotel at all at any time apart from breakfast. Hotel shuts at 10.00pm along with the bar and the restaurant. No room service, phone in room, plug in sink, socket for hair dryer in bathroom. No pen or paper in room. No coffee making facilities in room. Cupboard space non existent so had to live out of suitcases. No drawers to store anything. Fold down table due lack of room and one chair which got in the way when table was up! Appalling breakfast from 8 - 10 at weekend! Ran out of scrambled eggs at 9 am and when I asked for more they said no! Notice at reception on Friday to say that breakfast on Saturday was likely to be busy and that the hotel might not be able to seat us! For 180 euros a night We should have stayed at the Royal which is an outstanding family hotel instead of this embarrassment This a disgrace to the Best Western franchise dump it!

Dear Mr Leggett, Thank you for your time writing this review. I am sorry to hear about this. I wish I would have known during your visit so we could have helped you at the time. Yes it is correct that we have different sizes of hotel rooms and it is an old building which makes that no room is exact the same Our front desk is manned from 6.45am-10pm. When I checked you in I informed you about our coffebuffè in the lobby that is available 24/7 for alla our guests and regarding breakfast during weekend that is also information to be announced. External circumstances such as noise from neighboring buildings can not be overridden My sincere apologies for not deliver the experience you that you expected in our hotel this is certainly not our intention. Best regards Susanne Mattelin Front Desk Manager

"OK but..."

Overall the Hotel Villan is not a bad choice for Gothenberg. Its a modern well designed 'boutique' style hotel on the waterside in Eriksberg (on the opposite side of the water to the centre of town) with relatively easy access to the city centre - an excellent and frequent direct bus just outside the hotel (20 mins) or a 15 minute boat ride (again from right outside the hotel) every half hour/hour. Parking is also easy - 50 SEK (5 EUR) for 24 hours. The hotel itself is good, rooms are modern well equipped and quiet with nice bathrooms. The only negative for me was that the breakfast was rather poor by Swedish hotel standards with a very limited choice - surprising considering the price of the room. Overall the Villan is fine, staff are very kind and welcoming and it is certainly worth considering if you can find a decent rate.

"Excellent hotel for a short buisness trip"

OleJD, Mysen 09/04/2018

Visited the hotel on a short buisness trip to Gothenburg. The hotel is small, with a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly personnel and comfortable rooms with all necessary utilities. Small resturant upstairs from the reception with beautiful view over the river and the full-rigger Götheborg. We had both dinner and (complementary) breakfast in the restaurant, and the food was delicious. Quiet neighbourhood and easy to find parking in the area. Ferry to the city centre just outside the hotel.

"Great Boutique Hotel"

Michael G, Stockholm, Sweden 05/12/2017

I normally stay in one of the big chains out of a sometimes blind / misguided loyality - however during this brief trip to Gothenburg I decided to opt for this small independent Best Western hotel, following a very good experience with the brand in Stockholm. I wasn't disappointed. Hotel itself was very nice - impeccably clean & well kept - but this was superseded by the service. Fantastic welcome at check in - coupled with a room upgrade and complimentary drinks voucher. I had only just requested a status match from HHonors top level to the BW equivalent that week - a painless process in itself - and was glad I did as I immediately reaped the benefits. Hotel itself is quite small - only 26 rooms I believe - but it made the stay all the more special. The attention to detail from the hotel team was consistently very good. I wandered into the bar 20 minutes before opening - but the guy there didn't hesitate in offering me a beer even though he was closed & busy preparing for the evening ahead. Same level of service at breakfast the next day - it was pretty quite - but again, the attention to detail was fantastic. The server was friendly / chatty & couldn't have done more for me. Quality & layout of the buffet was really good also. Overall - the stay made me re-think my decade long approach to staying in big / sometimes soulless hotels. I really liked the one on one service at The Villan - it made me feel like a proper guest ! Only small downside is location - while it's in a lovely neighbourhood with some great walks along & interesting bars & restaurants the waterfront, it's a little out of the city (approx. 3 km). Once I figured out the public transport however, this wasn't an issue - 20 minutes & 25SEK on the bus - wich stops 3 minutes walk from the hotel.

"Excellent hotel"

RayPGar, London, United Kingdom 03/12/2017

I have eaten in the restaurant at Hotel Villan a few times over the years and finally stayed at the hotel this weekend. The restaurant has always been amazing and the hotel did not disappoint either. Great and helpful staff, lovely rooms and a general chilled out and cozy atmosphere. Eriksberg is a lovely district of Gothenburg and a short ferry journey from the centre and the pier for the ferry is right outside the hotel. We will be staying here again and can't recommend this hotel highly enough

"Very Swedish "

User 07/11/2017

Clean, simple, cosy, with style. Had a very pleasant stay in the hotel, it has all the amenities needed if you are on a business trip, breakfast could have a little bit more variety but overall is very good. If the weather helps it is a very nice area for an evening walk.

"Perfect location and cosy hotel"

Viktoriagu, Visby, Sweden 19/08/2017

Modern and cosy hotel. Polite personell. They were helpfull. Easy to park close to hotel. They let us have the room longer on our check out day. Close to water. Close to restaurants. Clean and tidy room. Confortable beds.

"Almost like at home"

lele1978, Piacenza, Italy 02/02/2017

I guess the hotel has one of the best city view. It is small and therefore I felt myself much better then other bigger hotels nearby. Room was not at that big but well furnisched. I only missed the minibar. They have a good internal restaurant and serve good breakfast. No sauna/fittness centre but having so wonderful place in front to have jogging why ask for it. Also parking is ok and not so expensive (50kr all night long)

"Gem "

What a lovely place and location. The proprietor greeted us and gave great advice for a lovely afternoon and evening out at the Gothenburg archipelagos. We had stayed downtown but much preferred Hotel Villian. It is a quick ferry to downtown.

"A good hotel that's on a pier"

Asterix_the_traveler, California 26/07/2016

The hotel was good with friendly staff. Cookies were very good and loved by my children. The rooms were very clean and welcoming. The bathrooms were of good size. The breakfast was sumptuous and had a good variety. Even for vegetarians. The smoothie was awesome. The view of water front from the deck of the breakfast area is calming. Just near the hotel was a restaurant which served some great vegetarian food. It also had a small play area in the shape of a ship which was a hit with my kids who were playing pirates.

"Very good and clean hotel"

Hassan H, Frankfurt, Germany 14/06/2016

I stayed there while on business travel and my experience was very good. The hotel is in good shape and has a great view into the harbor. It is around 15-20 minutes by car from Gothenburg city center. Room was basic but had no air condition. When I stayed there the temperature was high (which is rare case in Sweden) and the room was very warm and I had troubles in sleeping but in general it is good. Breakfast is delicious and has a very wide range of varieties

"Isolated gem"

eyrussTexas, Texas 27/05/2016

If you are interested in staying away from the bustle, opt for Hotel Villan. The rooms are decorated with a modern touch and spacious. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic, and little touches, like homemade cookies in the lobby and umbrellas outside everyone's door make this hotel memorable. The only downside-- be sure to have everything you need when you come or go-- the location is 15 minutes by bus or ferry from everything.
