"Friendly staff!!"
The hotel is clean and tidy and good value for money. A large group of colleagues stayed overnight and had an evening meal. The food was good quality and the service was excellent. Special thanks to Scottish Dee, the very attentive waitress who looked after us all night with a smile on her face. Nothing was too much trouble for friendly James in the bar afterwards. Give it a go!!
"An OK hotel stay"
We booked this hotel via the Best Western app which shows parking is available. When we checked in at the hotel, we found out that we had to pay to park in the hotel car park. We had added a bottle of champagne to our room, when we got to our room this was missing. We also wanted to book treatments during our stay. This was unavailable to book online, so once we checked in the main reception desk told us we had to book through the leasure reception desk. By the time we got there, there were no bookings left. If you are looking for spa treatments when staying here, it would be best to phone the hotel before you get there.
Sam Farmer, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear lulubrennan125, Thank you for your feedback. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the team if the champagne you ordered was not in the room when you checked in. Although it is a human error, this should not have been missed and I will follow this up with the team. Our car park is managed by an outside company and charges indeed apply. You are right regarding Spa treatments, it is advised to book ahead of your stay as if all spaces are booked for a day, we will not be able to take last minute bookings. We hope you will come and visit us again in the future. Best Regards, Christel Quinonero Operations Manager
"Spa and pool break"
We came for a couple nights getaway to relax and recharge. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were top notch. Special mention should go to Hazel, who was very friendly and guided us through our first massage experience in a very calm and professional manner. The food was good solid fair, and the choice of drink at the bar was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay, we will certainly be back the next time we need a break!

"Great value for your money"
My family & I had a fantastic Spa relaxing girls night in. I highly recommend Hazel ( she was absolutely amazing doing my spa treatment) The food was delicious evening and to morning breakfast the staff couldn't help enough and was very friendly. Our rooms was lovely & the beds were comfortable, I had a great nights sleep. The pool area could do with a licker of paint but over all great. We all feel very relaxed ready for the week a head & would definitely return . Thank you.

"A night away with mum and sister"
We arrived and the greeting was wonderful ..I had spoken to the hotel earlier asking about check in and was told 1pm would be fine as we had been allocated our room. Unfortunately it wasn't ready but Josh kept us updated and we had coffee in the lounge. We got to our room around 2.30, then enjoyed the gym and leisure facilities which were fabulous. Our room was spacious clean and they had accommodated us with 3 single beds. Dinner was great as was service .Few things missing at breakfast but overall a really lovely night away.. I must add all the staff were so attentive, but a special mention to Josh who obviously goes way above and beyond to ensure guest are happy.. We will Definitely be back. It was my muns xmas present and she loved it. She is 80 later this year and I am already thinking about booking a night away at the hotel to celebrate.

"Great stay"
We had a really good 2 night break at this hotel, we have stayed here before and enjoyed it the first time this is why we have returned. We enjoy the pool, steam room - which is very good and the jacuzzi is so large fits many people in so no waiting. The pool area was not too busy and is a great design. We have already said we would return.

"A Perfectly Fine Stay"
We stayed here over Twixmas for two nights. Our deal included accommodation in an Executive Double, dinner and breakfast. We genuinely could not understand the many negative reviews on here; our room was spacious, bed was super Kingsize and very comfortable, breakfast was all self-service and had a decent selection to choose from, and the two course dinners were generously portioned and perfectly fine. The pool, sauna, steam room and changing rooms were all clean and showed no signs of wear and tear. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Genuinely couldn't see the reason for so much negativity. For the price we paid it was perfectly fine.

Booked a 2 night ‘Twixmas' break for hubby and I. This is a lovely hotel and fabulous spa. The pool area is gorgeous and a good size. Room lovely. Staff all so hardworking and really looked after us. Lovely food and great value. Just what we needed!

"Extremely Disappointing "
We came to this hotel with a group of friends for a Christmas get together. Room was OK, bed was comfortable. When we ordered prosecco, we were told they had run out! They managed to find 2 bottles of fizz eventually. Unbelievable. The evening meal was diabolical. We were on a Secret Escapes package and the choice was awful. Burger?! Really?! Pudding very poor. No decorations or any attempt to acknowledge Christmas. Breakfast was slightly better. All in all this experience was very disappointing. Would not recommend.

"Awfull place to stay"
My husband and I stayed here over our anniversary weekend, the rooms are cold and damp and defiantly not soundproofed we could hear the room next door talking and using the bathroom, and loud music from the function room downstairs, we couldn't sleep due to people shouting in the hallways, they don't do room service or breakfast in the room as advertised and make you feel like you are an inconvenience by being there, the food is not worth the money ,my hunters chicken burger was made with brown sauce instead of bbq and was vile, Defiantly the worst hotel I've stayed at, a holiday inn is 100 times better than here.

"Disappointing"
We came here for a 2 night break with dinner included. "Executive" room was very basic and tired with a shower curtain over the bath. No facial tissues provided so I had to buy some. I thought these were standard in most hotels. Basic tea/coffee and biscuit choice and not enough milk sachets for us (only 4 provided). Bed was comfortable however. 2 course meal was included but we had no choice of dining time slot due to functions on both evenings and food was not good. Calamari rings to start were soggy and did not taste of calamari and my sirloin steak was tough as old boots. The waiter offered a steak knife and a replacement but I had lost my appetite by this point. My husband faired a bit better with his choice of "gourmet" burger. Breakfast was ok; 6/10. I would not choose to return to this hotel or chain again and although it was adequate for our needs, it was very disappointing.

"Anniversary Celebration"
I cannot express my thanks enough to the Manager & ALL his staff for making this special anniversary such a success. With HRH Princess Royal in attendance it had to be all spot on. And it certinly was from the cleanliness, the ballroom table layout, all the very smart waiters (male & female) their service & the chef's food was just superb. I've booked another luncheon this week & can relax knowing I've left it all in good hands. Congratulations!

"An amazing get away with the extra special touch made by the staff."
A beautiful clean well kept hotel , rooms were provided with extra heat or fan should u require , beds very comfortable and everything you need in your room . Receptionist Skandler went out his way to accommodate our stay even the chef Sam offered to cater for me due to illness , the whole team in the restaurant and bar are so friendly and will go out there way to help ur every need .Jamie the restaurant manager and Josh the bar manager and Jas the breakfast waitress were great showing empathy and understanding of my needs and made sure I was looked after .

"No Xmas decorations up on our pre Xmas break, drab No atmosphere and stained walls in room."
We arrived at the hotel for our pre Xmas break on the 30th November for 3 nights expecting to see some festive decor but not a Xmas tree in sight , no atmosphere and pretty dull all round. Breakfast was poor no fruit compote or much choice of anything. Room was a good size but stains on the wall next to the bed. House keeping need to clean it off as for a 4 star hotel this is not what we expect to see. We don't feel like we've had a pre Xmas break at all no Xmas cheer in the Robinswood hotel. Bahhh humbug.
"Quite an enjoyable stay......"
First impressions were very good. Arrived mid afternoon to discover this hotel in the middle of residential area which was rather a surprise. The place is just a short distance from town which is convenient. The Night manager was on reception & he was really friendly. Having no lifts is not good for those who need it. The room was comfortable and provisions were good. Had a pizza in the Lounge bar which was really not to my taste - it was so spicy that you could not taste anything else so that was a let down. The breakfast the next morning was not the best or the worst I have ever had - scrambled eggs were like mush - Yuk! However before I left later that day, I had cream tea scones (part of the spa break deal- see pic) and oh yes, that more than made up for the pizza & breakfast. Would go back just for that! The spa facilities were excellent. The gym has all the high tech equipment which was very impressive. I really enjoyed the spa/pool and my massage was pleasurable. I would definitely consider coming back for another spa break sometime & perhaps try the Brasserie or make better choices in the bar.
"Wonderful stay"
We have just got home after a two night stay, our room was wonderful and had everything we needed. The staff went above and beyond. Special mention to Sam, Dean, Josh, Sharon and Deepi. The food in the restaurant was outstanding I would recommend the chicken with tarragon and the raspberry tart. A visit to Gloucester is recommended and the hotel arrange a taxi for us too. We will definitely be coming back. Many thanks Emma and Paul.
"Could do better"
Arrived and check in first impression was good, executive room was ok but tired , restaurant food of a very good standard, need to make improvements to service , fitness centre was the star here with good facilities

"Gloucester stay"
We wanted somewhere close to home so bought a Groupon voucher for this nice looking hotel. It's a shame there isn't a lift, quite a few stairs. Room was nice, good big bed. Good sized TV. Nice warm room. Dinner was very nice, shame they ran out of poppadoms with my curry. A nice quiet night gave us a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good but lots of things kept running out, poached eggs were excellent tho. All the staff were friendly but professional. So all in all a good value stay and we would return.

"Cancelled our party with 2 weeks notice still not received our refund back"
At the beginning of September we tried to book our Christmas party for the last weekend in November. This was for a group of friends not a business. The fact I had to chase them to pay the deposit should have been the first warning sign. Deposit of £140 was finally taken from our account at the end of September. No receipt was ever received although promised in an email. Two weeks before the party they cancelled it. We have still not received the deposit back so again I'm chasing them. How does the saying go, couldn't organise something in a brewery!
Sam Farmer, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear NBurge, I am sorry we had to cancel your party and I would like to take this opportunity to personally apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. "A lovely 3 night break"
We stayed here to visit the area, and were impressed with the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was good, especially the breakfast. We felt the restaurant prices were a bit high, but the surroundings were very nice and it is all nicely decorated etc. I used the pool, and thought it was good that there were times when children were not allowed in, so you could have a peaceful swim. Parking is easy and convenient. Lots of places to visit in the area, and easy access into Gloucester.

"Very pleasant and helpful staff."
The hotel rooms were large and very comfortable. The leisure facilities were good. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful at all times. We were on a coach trip so had a set evening menu with three choices in each of three courses. The food was a little variable in quality and quantity but overall good.

"Brilliant !!!"
Annual trip to Cheltenham for the races but first stay here at the Robinswood, the reviews we read were mixed so we were not expecting what we received !! Nothing to fault ...ok it's a bit out of the way but that's not the hotel's fault ... It was very clean, beds comfy and staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful, busy but the staff coped admirably. It's a pity the bar closes at 11pm and the signage in the car park is confusing, it should state that Residents DO NOT pay for car parking if they register their car in the reception. My only regret is that I didn't take my swimming trunks for the pool !! All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here
Sam Farmer, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear 1GregC, Thank you for your nice feedback. We hope you were lucky at the races and that you will come back and see us again soon. Sincerely, Christel Quinonero Operations Manager Gloucester Robinswood Hotel
"Mixed stay"
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food at dinner was good. The breakfast was also good - great having gluten free cereal available and also nice to have water melon. The rooms are not very soundproof, we could hear what the person in the next door room was watching and they were watching it until 1:30am. When we tried to phone reception to complain - the phone didn't work. In the disabled room, the wet room has a slight lip to go in and the wet room wasn't as good as other best western. The spa was enjoyable, however there was no gentle steps only vertical ladders to access the pool which made it very difficult to get in and out for people with limited mobility. The pool was very hot, one time had a nice current going round but this wasn't on the next time. Again lots of steps to the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi the first time was so hot you could barely sit in it, the next time cold jets coming out at you.

"Cant fault it"
Great spa, great big rooms with superking bed and great bar and restaurant. Finally a spa with robes that fit..just!!. No slippers provided though. My only fault is that when eating in retaurant our table was super close to the ones either side so you could hear their conversations and them ours.

"Disappointing"
Brought my partner here for our anniversary, wish we'd stayed at home. Whole place needed hoovering, waited over an hour for our food after ordering. Waitress took our drink order and never returned. Dirty cuttlery and glasses. No hairdryer in the room. No 24 hour room service as adverised. The hotel was advertised as a 'spa break in the Costwolds'. Its on the outskirts of Gloucester City and the 'spa' resembled a council swimming pool. So disappointing and embarrassed to bring my partner here.

"Spa break"
The spa facilities were very good - lovely pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room but the disabled facilities were awful. Changing room smelt horrendous and there was sewerage overflow coming through the shower plug. The staff were aware but, even though it was cleaned when we mentioned it, nothing was done to prevent it happening again as the next day it was exactly the same. Awful! Ava, one of the treatment staff, gave an excellent massage. The mattress on the bed in our room was very uncomfortable and the staff member we mentioned it to said he was aware of that and all mattresses were the same.
"Excellent hotel"
We came to stay here for 3 nights the hotel was excellent rooms clean and staff great at reception Matthew was so kind and polite couldn't do enough for us . The breakfast was excellent alway fresh and hot and Sharron in restaurant went beyond her job so kind and helpful to us even went to our room to get my medicine. I would recommend the afternoon tea 5* plus .thank u all for a lovely stay x
"Everything you need."
I have stayed here before so was happy to return. The car parking charge isn't clear and I paid £10 at the machine before checking in and discovering I didn't need to. The staff member on reception stated that guests had received fines even after registering their vehicle with the hotel so it was “probably best you paid.” Not an ideal start. I had received a complimentary upgrade to a suite via email and this was lovely. A 2-room suite with a huge livening room area, clean and airy. The bed was very comfortable and everything I needed was in the room. The leisure club was very nice, I spent a good few hours reading, swimming and sauna-img, very relaxing. The leisure club was also available after I had checked out so I didn't have to dash home straight away. As I was on a dinner, bed and breakfast booking, I ate in the hotel in the evening. The inclusive choice wasn't extensive and the garlic mushroom starter was small and a little disappointing, the burger was very nice! The staff were very helpful and overall I would have no reservations in staying here again.
"Great stay"
All staff were helpful and friendly. Food was lovely. Room was nice and had everything you needed in it.Nice bathroom with bath and shower. Buffet breakfast had lots to choose from. It has a gym, swimming pool and lockers.
"Amazing value for money"
Fantastic value for money. Rooms spacious and clean and perfect for an overnight stay. Leisure facilities were great, full use of the pool, gym, sauna and steam room included in the price of the stay - towel's provided for you as well as dressing gowns in your room. All staff so friendly and always ready to help Buffet style breakfast also included in the price of the stay and everything you could need to set you up for the day - hot breakfast, cereal, fruit and yoghurt station, hot drinks and toast provided There were no plug sockets next to either night stand but not a huge issue and this may not be the same for each room Overall great place to stay

"FANTASTIC STAY"
Stayed over on a Friday ad Saturday over a Chelenham race weekend . Met by Nathan at reception , if anyone is made for front of house its this guy , you'll understand what I mean if you go there .Directed to room {119}., Immaculate with every thing you need. Spa complex with pool sauna steam room jacuzzi is all free and towels are provided .Had 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts both excellent , drink prices a bit high but a snip compared to what I payed at the racetrack.Manager came round to check every thing ok with the guests which was a nice touch .They do allow dogs in the hotel which is fine although one kept barking in the bar and she did try and take him into the restaurant which I found slightly odd but I think they were asked to leave .Overall a great stay in fantastic hotel and the best staff in every department , can't wait to go back
"Great break"
Spent two night here last week - what a fantastic hotel and the staff were all so friendly and helpful without exception - from the minute we checked in everybody was very professional - which in the current climate after Covid etc seems to be the exception rather than the rule!!

We recently stayed at the Robinswood overnight on a trip to West Wales. Our stop over was a good experience we were travelling with dogs who are well used to staying in hotels. "Top Notch Customer Service!"
This was one first time visiting this hotel and it certainly won't be my last! Nathan and Steven at reception were super welcoming and helpful! The restaurant wasn't the best. Slightly overpriced and the quality wasn't memorable, however the customer service was phenomenal! Once again, Nathan and Steven made my experience here amazing! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!

"Over charged"
WARNING….check what you have been charged on your credit/debit , Was told would be debited certain amounts, then when I got home and checked balance found had been over charged and charged VAT, Contacted hotel to be told not there problem as I had used a voucher for part of the payment. Had to insist that payment HAD been taken by the hotel directly and sent photos of evidence . Was told I would be contacted “in due course” which when I said wasn't good enough was told within 24 hours. I checked my balance the following day and the overpayment had been rectified, still waiting to be contacted or an apology to be made. Disappointed to discover that if I had booked breakfast on arrival I could have saved £5. So if you are tempted to stay don't pre book breakfast. Which did not have any options for vegetarians had to ask. As I paid the same as everyone else not good enough Some staff are great..others grumpy and bar food / drinks over priced for quality. The wife and I decided to spend a night away without the children as we have had an extremely busy summer . We found the hotel staff very helpful and couldn't do more for us , the swimming pool was really relaxing and the restaurant and food was great Highly recommend it
"Value for money, highly recommend"
Really happy with the stay here. We have an allergy to aloe vera (weird I know!), but the staff went above and beyond to find us something without it. We did bring our own shampoo and body wash but forgot hand wash hence we asked if they had any soap. Not only did they find us some hand soap, but they checked and got some small shampoo and body wash bottles which they checked with us first to ensure it was okay for us. This was done the 2nd day of our stay which I thought was incredibly lovely. The rooms were lovely, very clean and comfortable. The only power points were on one side of the room opposite the bed, but we managed just fine and told the reception when we checked out. We learnt that they had only recently had new management and welcomed any feedback about how to improve the hotel. They were also in agreement about getting power points by the bed when they get round to refurbishing the rooms. Considering the short period of time, they have had, they have done a fabulous job of getting on the right track. Squishy pillows, fluffy duvet and the bed is firm but soft enough. Coffee and tea with biscuits are provided along with a bottle of water and glasses. Fluffy robe with slippers waits in the wardrobe for your spa day and extra towels can also be found there along with a fan, an iron and ironing board. There is a suitcase rack to hold your suitcase to unpack and a small space next to it to store it out the way. There isn't a specific baggage storage holder or space, but we tucked ours in next to the cupboard and rack, so it was tucked away. There is a TV with some freeview channels, however, there was a HDMI and USB port, so we watched Netflix via my laptop. Long length mirror near the desk and power points for drying your hair and doing make-up. The bathroom was small, only really enough room for one person. Big sink and big mirror above the sink so easy to have a wash if needed. There was a shower over the bath, bath was very deep so bubble bath ready. The shower was adequate, not as good as home but good enough. Temperature gauge on the tap so you can have a nice steamy shower or a cool one. Our extractor fan didn't work but advised staff of it at the end of our stay and it was booked with their maintenance team immediately. We used the portable fan to blow away the steam from the room. As the bathtub is deep, do be careful getting out of it. There is the shelf by the toilet to hold onto to get out. The food was sublime! I highly recommend getting the option of having both breakfast and 2 course dinner included in your stay otherwise expect to pay at least £20 per person if you want to have dinner there. There are places to eat outside the hotel including many takeaways, however, we were really pleased with the quality of the food in the restaurant. You can get some plates and cutlery for any takeaways you get in the hotel, just ask them, no issue at all. I only managed to get 2 photos of the food on the last night because I simply forgot and tucked in. The breakfast is buffet style but still good quality, lots of options available. There are dietary options available on request so I would recommend telling them when you book and when you arrive so they can ensure they have what they need for you. It is also a pet friendly hotel so if you don't like this idea at all, then I suggest you find somewhere else to stay. If you are a pet lover, then I highly recommend this place. I think the furry guests were placed in a different part of the hotel and were very well behaved as I didn't hear them at all but did get to meet one or two around the hotel. We had a look at the spa facilities but didn't get a chance to use them. Again, very clean facilities and lots of options available: gym, squash courts, pool with a kiddy pool as well (saw some water aerobics classes going on in the morning) and range of spa treatments from massage to facials. Beautiful area, quiet and not that far away from attractions. Added bonus is the local sheep having a run in the mornings around the hotel and resident squirrel hurrying around.
"Appalling"
Please don't bother staying here. The service in the restaurant is duly abbismal. The food was good after you wait for an hour for a starter. The staff were less than apologetic saying service was slow because there was a coach load in. Truly not our problem.
"Share an opinion"
The hotel was clean and well maintained, reception was very welcoming, staff were smartly dressed, plenty of local knowledge and responded to our requests. We have stayed in Best Westerns before and will do again. Hotel position is great for the Cotswolds, Gloucester Quays, and Cheltenham.
"Disappointing trip"
I had fish and chips. Not cooked enough. Fish was raw in parts. Room smelt of sewage, the staff straightaway moved us. The hotel was quite gloomy. It needs an overall to bring it up todate. Can't blame the staff they did what they could.
"Lovely Staff & Spa"
Booked 3 nights via Secret Escapes for me to potter around and hubby to work from the room! Unfortunately I didn't do enough research and found the hotel was in a residential area and not walking distance to anywhere interesting. The room although clean & large didn't really have a suitable desk or chair for working on the laptop. However Skyr on reception overwhelmed us with her offer to upgrade us and from there on totally changed our experience and stay. She was always friendly as we passed her on reception. The pool is very large for hotel standards with 3 jacuzzis and loungers. They had day pass users but it never got busy - in fact it was a joy to see mature friends meeting there, disabled people having pool therapy and grandparents teaching their grandchildren to swim. The staff in the spa were always friendly and Joe even helped locate my husband who decided to go off to use the free squash court!. Breakfast was ample - something for everyone and again friendly staff who asked if we had specific allergies. Jas was always very cheery and every morning she asked if we were having a nice stay. We went to the outlet stores at Gloucester Quays, saw a show in Cheltenham & had lunch at Bourton on the Water - all a short car drive from the hotel. Finally thanks again to Skyr .
"Little outdated"
Booked this hotel it says 4 star but I believe it isn't. The staff are very nice and helpful. The room and hotel need updating, the bed was uncomfortable as are the pillows very flat and hard. No bottled water in the room but tea and coffee is. Ate in the restaurant I didnt like my choice of the fish pie sloppy mash no taste. Again asked for water was offered a jug of tap water even though I asked for bottled then was offered a small bottle which I said was fine it came warm. Our room was very noisey with what seemed like work men coming and going via the fire door. Shouting and swearing. My husband complained to reception and to be fair they spoke to them and the rest of the evening it was quiet.
"Short break"
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing stay. There is no lift which is a bit of a nightmare, however this was my fault for not reading the hotels details when booking. We checked into our room which was adequate but found the bathroom to be dirty around the bath On the first evening we could not get a table in the restaurant until 8.15 which was to late. However, we went in the bar for a drink which was an astronomical price for two cokes and a packet crisps - £10.30. We eventually went through to our table my sons food was fine. Mine wasn't I'm afraid I had garlic mushrooms on a potato cake, this was sliced potatoes, the mushrooms were awful (they contained sugar) but I was so hungry I ate most of them. My main course was a vegetable risotto with a salmon piece. This again was tasteless and lacked seasoning again I ate most of it because I was hungry. Desserts were very nice. When asked if they were homemade or bought in I was advised he was not allowed to discuss that. I asked for the bill only to find that I had been charged for three puddings instead of two. Also, I had been over charged for our drinks at the bar. When the restaurant supervisor gave us our starters for free and offered us free starters the next night - however I just didn't want to eat there. Advertised room service but was advised no room service as they were short staffed. Finally, on the plus side the staff were wonderful. Still waiting for manager to call. Should be interesting as I am an ex hotel manager.

"OK hotel"
This was our 1st stay at this particular BW. The interior is much better than the outside, the room was clean and the staff helpful and pleasant. On our 1st morning we asked at reception for more toilet rolls, only 1 was left. We had to ask for a 2nd roll before the end of our 3 night stay, come on BW, surely 2/3 rolls can be left in a room, especially for a 3 night booking. I would advise if you wish to book the Restaurant, do so before you even arrive! We tried and every night was fully booked (despite the restaurant being only 1 third full on our 2nd attempt??) and a table was not available much before 8.30/9pm. I did wonder if catering for coach parties is there maximum covers?? Shame if this is the case for smaller parties and like us, couples??. At breakfast on our 1st morning they ran out of cups! Some customers used the cups from their room, bit of an oversight. We were told there was a 20 minute wait for the dishwasher to finish, this was basic stuff Robinswood. Don't think I'd stay again, there are definitely problems on the kitchen side of things.
"Poor management and communication"
I have used this hotel several times in recent months and left very positive reviews due to the improvements in the hotel and service. However I won't be returning following the treatment and handling of my family this weekend Firstly I purchased day passes to used the leisure club for my son and friends as treat, entry was refused without explanation and told to return at 6pm when access will be allowed, hardly a day pass when it can only be used for 2.5 hours. Returning at 6pm to be told no again, no reason so the manager was requested who had made this decision, he then agreed and backed down but a short time later another manager came down and said as the party needed to leave due to being disruptive, subsequently Police were called to resolve the issue. Overall poor handling of the situation from all the managers involved who take the money but refuse to honour the service. I look forward to reading the response to this review
Sam Farmer, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Cassonpete To clarify the situation, entry was not refused without explanation, the leisure club clearly states specific opening times related to the age of the users. The service was honoured, your son and friends' behaviour was inappropriate and they were warned on several occasions by a member of the team. The hotel will not tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour, disrespect of other guests, use of foul language or abusing of the staff. Best regards Christel Q / Operations Manager
"Pleasant hotel, friendly and helpful staff"
The hotel is very pleasant. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. It was a little warm in the room. Breakfast was very good, buffet self served. The pool / fitness suite was good. Nice clean pool. Sauna is small, seats about 5 or 6 and quite hot. There is a squash court and lots of fitness equipment. Location is opposite a dry slop ski centre, and is a little out of the way, about 3 miles outside Gloucester. Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful.

"So Spa so good"
We have just returned after a 2 night stay at Best Western Robinswood in Gloucester. Parking is free you just have to input your registration into the consul in reception. Very nice looking reception area and we were greeted by a staff member named Josh whom was friendly, professional and proficient. Our family toom was in the lower floor of the hotel, plenty of stairs to reach there. As you descend you can feel the heat as maybe there is a boiler located here? The room and bathroom itself was clean and ideal for us. There was a single bed and a king size bed in the room, both were very comfy. There was a tall oscillating fan awaiting us which is when I realised there was no AC. The spa has set times for children in the pool which is before 6pm. Which wasn't an issue for us as there is the sauna, steam and big jacuzzi in the centre which kids cannot access, so you can easily chill in these areas. After 6pm it becomes quiter and we were in the pool and spa area with just the locals whom are very friendly and we enjoyed a few chats in the sauna. The pool is lovely, we really enjoyed the whole pool area and especially had fun in the big warm jacuzzi in the centre of fhe pool. Back to the room and sadly the heat was an issue on our first night for me, for me as a woman of a certain age with the window open and the fan on it was still roosting hot. The fan was noisy so none of us really got any sleep which was a bummer. Thankfully the receptionist of the hotel resolved this issue with us. I have to say I would 100% return to this hotel (in a different room if I'm honest, not downstairs) it was very good value for money, lovely staff, excellent spa area and not too far away from the Forest of Dean where we spent a really fun day out.

"Faultless, friendly service"
The hotel building is nothing special.Bit we stayed to break up a journey and even though we were 3 plus dog in a room it was all very comfortable and the team were very accommodating. Great breakfast made us at ease with the dog and the spa and gym was very welcome. Nice job.

"Short stay for rest and leisure"
We stayed at this hotel after a visit to Bath and part of an onward journey through the Cotswold. This was an excellent choice. The rooms we perfect for our needs, 2 adults and 3 children. The swimming. Spa and gym facilities were exactly what we needed to refresh and continue our onward journey

"Quiet, slightly odd location"
On arrival it seemed we were on a tour of a housing estate. This was partly caused by the main access road (B4073) being closed for roadworks. First thing to sort was to register the car's registration - dire warnings if yuo got the registration wrong (wouldn't it help if the make of the car was confirmed when tapping your details in?). We looked at the restaurant prices which seemed a bit price to us. We went and found a nice Thai fairly near the Quays on the first night. Breakfast was excellent in the fairly uninspiring looking restaurant. Service was superb, speedy and efficient. Reception staff were all very friendly. Our room (213) was large and comfortable and Wi-Fi was solid I did see the pool! Interesting the local sheep get free reign.

"Stress free"
Arrived very late after a long day at the commonwealth games to break our journey home, check in made simple by being able to online check in earlier. Lovely clean room, kept cool by fan running before arrival. Lovely to have both a bath and shower and lovely breakfast to fuel the rest of the journey home. All staff very helpful, thank you

"Comfortable but needs some TLC"
We received a warm, professional welcome upon arrival having booked a 2 night stay. The hotel is situated in a slightly odd location but does allow relatively easy access by car into Gloucester. You will find steps into and all throughout the hotel, as it is spread over a couple of levels, so as other reviews have stated, I can't say it would be suitable if you have mobility issues. All the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. Our room was comfortable but in need of some TLC. The bathroom had peeling paint, no working extraction fan [we hadn't noticed until hubby twigged there was one in the roof] and a mouldy shower curtain. The most annoying thing was the noisy plumbing which continually crashed and banged when other rooms used the taps or flushed the loo. The room seemed well cleaned until hubby spotted thick, low level dust along and under the radiator. The windows are also in need of better upkeep. The one evening meal we had was tasty and decently presented and breakfast provided a good level of choice. Overall this hotel suited our needs for a couple of nights but does not reflect the standards of other BW hotels we've stayed in. The staff do their best and we thank them for this but the fabric of the hotel needs work as this doesn't reflect the rates charged.

"Family 2 night break"
We booked a package deal with this hotel to include spa access, breakfast and dinner for 5 adults over 3rooms. We found the hotel to be really good value for money, clean, welcoming staff and good food. The spa had plenty of space and good facilities also. The rooms were spacious and we loved the fact we woke up to sheep outside! A good base point to cheltenham which was only a 20 minute drive.

"Unwelcoming"
Meet some friends who had been to water aerobics for a cup of tea. The lady behind the bar was not welcoming at all. We had our tea 3 small pots and three cups that are usually used for coffee. While we were sitting having a chat she came out to put cup and plates out on on a table it's a wonder nothing broke the way she was slamming things down. She looked totally feed up. Before they closed during the pandemic the staff there were so happy and cheerful. Think twice about visiting again

"Amazing Customer Service"
We have just spent my hen weekend here. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. All staff from the reception to the restaurant and the spa were incredible and make the weekend so so special. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone and will be using them again. The food was amazing over breakfast, lunch and dinner. The treatments in the spa were to die for. Thank you to all the staff. Your such a great group.

"Disability non friendly"
I am afraid my rating mainly reflects the non accessibility of what seems to be a relatively new and purpose build building. I particularly noticed this after a couple of falls, one in the hotel and one in the carpark. This hotel is on multiple levels, so you have to go down a couple of flights to the bedrooms (there may be others on the level, I don't know), up a couple of flights to get to the restaurant, there are even a few steps up to reception. I saw several older people really struggling to get around, so asked if there was a lift-no. So not quite sure how this is compliant with legislation, and certainly should be made clear before booking. Otherwise, in the main the staff were charming and polite, with the exception of an older guy who really gave the impression he didn't want to be there. We dined in their restaurant the first night of our stay, and at the end of the main course, this guy seemed to have taken over from the lovely waitresses. When my husband pointed out that a major part of his steak dinner had been gristle (hubby had many years working in catering and hospitality so didn't say this lightly) he got a non committal grunt in response. I then ordered a dessert and coffee. When the dessert was delivered, this guy said the coffee was coming, and delivered it black in a cup, no saucer, milk or sugar offered. As for breakfast, the first morning we came down just after 8.30. The hot food hadn't been topped up, and sausages, eggs, beans etc were dried out. The mushrooms and tomatoes had a stagnant flavour, presumably from sitting in water for a period of time This given that breakfast is served until 10. The waitress told us not to put toast through the machine more than once, otherwise it catches fire! The second morning there was no fruit salad. I mentioned this to a waitress who said she would ask chef, and that was the last we heard of. The toilets are down two flights of stairs from the restaurant. Two mornings running there was no hand soap. The pool area was quite small, but this isn't unusual for a hotel chain. Quite a few children, no problem with this in itself, but this made it difficult to do any serious swimming. There was a lane roped off, but this was stated as being for swimming lessons. The rooms themselves were perfectly good, a little hot but given the heatwave during our stay, at least we were provided with a fan. Again, I want to emphasise that the cast majority of staff were really pleasant, professional and customer focused.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Deborah C Many thanks for your review of the hotel and your stay with us. Thank you for highlighting that the staff are pleasant, professional and customer focused and that the review is scored poorly because of the hotel layout and you falling over twice. I can assure potential guests reading the review that the hotel is fully compliant with all regulations and we have annual visits with all local authorities and conduct an independent Health & Safety company to conduct a unannounced visit of the hotel when all H&S matters are audited. I am sorry to read your husbands steak contained gristle and our Head Chef will be informed so he can check future deliveries and quality. With regards to breakfast your feedback will be addressed as we continually look for improvements to our breakfast offering. There are toilets including an accessible toilet near the bar and restaurant next to the external ramp so no need to go downstairs for the toilets. We have fans in all our bedrooms which has helped during the recent heatwave. Thank you for the feedback and I do hope you will return again in the future. Kind regards. Daniel & the team
"More than likely wouldn't go back"
Had a few issues during our stay but the hospitality manager Kate took my comments on board and offered compensation. Was dealt with professionally and effectively, just a shame we didn't meet her until the end of our stay. The pool isn't as big as the photos make it appear but when we did use the facility it was quiet and ample space to swim. There is a few jacuzzi jet areas, steam room and sauna with lounge chairs scattered around. We didn't use the gym so can't comment. You will need £1 deposit for the lockers in the changing room. Robes and towels can be supplied. I had a back, shoulder and neck massage by Lorna and omg you must go see her if you need a firmer massage. I've never met a masseuse like her and she does wonders! I would travel half way across the country to see her again, she's amazing! The room was very spacious, not very clean and just so you're aware, although not an issue for us, hotel still won't allow cleaners into your room unless requested. We never dined here as we could never get a table before 8pm. There was also coach parties during our stay. Breakfast was OK, just like a travelodge. Buffet style. Ample parking and there's a tesco express about 5minutes away and a shell petrol station. The ski centre is literally right opposite from the hotel.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Ceri T Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. It is sad to read you don't think you will return even though you enjoyed the ample sized pool, the massage from Lorna that you would travel half the world away for, the spacious room and the okay breakfast. I am glad Kate resolved your issues before leaving so surprised at the poor review, especially when reading the comments. The hotel will service any bedroom on request. Once again thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Daniel and the team.
"Mouldy bread"
Mouldy bread at breakfast two morning in a row. No air conditioning in the room but cold in communal areas due to air conditioning making room feel even hotter. Unable to eat in the restaurant until 8pm.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Janephil2019 Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. My accept my apologies regarding the mouldy bread and your review has been passed on to our Head Chef and Food & Beverage Manager. Our communal areas and meeting rooms are air conditioned whilst we have just purchased fans for all the bedrooms to alleviate discomfort. The hotel restaurant was busy and we try to stagger reservations for a smoother service for our guests. Kind regards Daniel & the team
"Big effort by all"
We were a little surprised upon arrival as the hotel was set among a housing estate. Receptionist,Skye, could get a job at the Waldorf. So professional, calm and friendly. Room large, clean and very comfortable bed. Spa was a nice treat, nice pool, steam room and sauna. Evening meal was good but with the staff catering for a coach party, they were a little slower than perhaps on a normal day but they all went the extra mile to keep everyone happy. Breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. Restaurant manager Jas was so on top of everything, the staff were smart polite and friendly, the room and tables were spotless. We enjoy one night stays in hotels, this was one of the best. Thank you to ALL the staff
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Geoff K Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. Your comments regarding Skye and Jas are fantastic and both are delighted to be personally mentioned. We are very happy the hotel and team exceeded your expectations and hope to welcome you back again soon. Kind regards Daniel & the team
"Ok but pricey"
Room was a decent size. View was ok - looking towards a rugby field and some new houses. Bed was ok. Shower was poor - hardly any pressure. No cleanliness issues. Overall for the price paid it was a bit underwhelming - £135 for one night (no breakfast). Would not return as was just a room to crash in for one night after a wedding. Check in was 3pm but I phoned prior day and asked if we could be earlier due to being picked up at half 1 - this was accepted and on the day we checked in at 12:30 which was very helpful. The bar was ok but only had a quick drink after arrival.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Jason H Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. We are delighted to hear that the early check in helped your day get off to a good start for the wedding you attended. Kind regards Daniel and the team
"Very Average"
I was part of a coach party staying at the hotel. As such, at meal times, I felt we were treated as inferior/less important than other guests. I realise they were ordering from the “a la carte” and we were having pre requested meals, but this should not affect the way in which, I felt, we were treated. The main gripe was 6.30 evening meal… ridiculously early when, once dinner was done, there was literally nothing else to do but go to our rooms. We ordered our food in the morning for the evening meal. On 2 occasions there was not enough of whatever we ordered (for instance Eton mess cheesecake) so a couple of us made do with an alternative….. only to see, 20 mins later, another party being given eton mess cheesecake????. The breakfasts were very nice. Lots of choice and fresh, considering it was buffet. The restaurant staff were very polite and helpful, as was all but one member of the reception staff. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was rude and very abrupt I wasn't the only one to notice this either. Finally the rooms. The bed was amazing. Huge and very comfortable. The bedding was clean and crisp. But…… our extractor fan in the bathroom was running continuously day and night, and the windows were really grotty. One window was screwed shut the other opened about 8 inches one side and 4 the other. I know this “get what you're given” kind of attitude to coach groups is not isolated to this one hotel. I think maybe management should look at where their bread and butter is coming from…. Not the odd couple staying for 2 nights, but the coach parties of 20/30/40 guests.

With regards to the dinner times these are agreed in advance with the tour operators and the hotel will ask for pre-orders from any group or party of 8 or more so it is not just tour groups. Thank you for the kind feedback regarding the bed, bedding and breakfast, we use feedback, such as yours, to continuously make changes to our brand to improve the guest experience. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Kind regards, Daniel & the team.
"Never judge a book by its cover"
We stayed at his hotel and were very surprised how lovely it was inside, because at first glance we were a little unsure about its location, being set right next to a housing estate, but it actually turned out to be a great location very handy for Gloucester and surrounding Cotswolds, Inside the interior looks like it's been refurbished , the pool area was really lovely with 3 jacuzzi's and the main swimming area was like a lazy river. We ate in the restaurant every day for breakfast and dinner and we found the food to be excellent, the staff were all very friendly and attentive at all times.. we would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Good"
Greeted by Bashwa at reception, very polite and friendly. Room was lovely and clean, pillows super comfortable. Went down to the bar for a drink, served by Courtney who didn't seem happy to be there and spoke in a very abrupt manner, as though we were inconveniencing her by being there. Had a two course meal of the evening, wine list was fairly priced, food was good. The hummus was perfect, it had a nice little kick, very good. Served by Jamie and another male who's name I didn't get, both polite and ensured we had an enjoyable meal. Slept very well, only issue was the fan in the bathroom was very loud, but once the door was closed it was fine (couldn't find a way to turn it off, once the door was shut it was no longer an issue) breakfast was plentiful and hot, no issues at all. Went down to the pool in the morning which was lovely and warm, changing rooms clean. The hot tub was so relaxing, really warm and the whole area was quiet which surprised us with it being a Saturday. Overall a fantastic stay, only let down by the service in the bar. Wouldn't hesitate to book again if we were in the area.

"All you could want"
We have stayed at Robins Hill on more than one occasion as we have relatives close by and enjoyed the experience. This stay was for family reasons and was just an overnight stay, we checked in at 6.00 from Cambridgeshire, we enjoyed a very nice meal before retiring for a comfortable nights sleep. We had a very pleasant, well presented breakfast before our journe6 home.

"Reasonable, friendly and efficient. "
Just had a few nights here and overall had s good experience. Staff very helpful and friendly. Swimming pool and staff very nice with good changing rooms and fresh towels. We had a bar snack and a couple of drinks and were told if we wanted to pay cash we would have to have the exact amount or it had to be card which I thought was a bit strange. Bar food was mediocre. The wine my wife wanted was also only sold by the bottle even though they had a half empty one in the fridge. Breakfast staff were great and Breakfast was good but not excellent. Room was a little bit tired in places but bed was good as was bathroom. Plenty of notices to remind you to register your car or face a fine. Overall was a 4 oug of 5 for me.

"Don't Book a group trip"
I stayed here in May for a Hen Do, it was really busy with a wedding party and was grossly understaffed. There were mistakes with the booking & dinner bills, all of which had to be sorted out. Since the weekend, the lady who booked has had £300 taken directly from her credit card without her consent. The hotel clearly wasn't in control the weekend and now £300 has been taken for rooms which were not used. The money was taken without consent and the hotel is refusing to refund it.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Good morning Sophie B, Thank you for your review, in the interests of future guests I have responded with the hotels view and would like to highlight there was no issues regarding service raised until this dispute regarding the charges. I can assure you the hotel has completed a thorough investigation on this case and has checked with booking.com, the reception team on duty over the weekend and housekeeping department before we replied. The group trip had 4 rooms booked under hotel breaks under one name and 7 rooms were booked under another (but guest names were different) and 1 under another in booking.com. Of the 8 rooms 4 rooms were cancelled. When one of the party arrived at the hotel with booking.com confirmation (as per the email from received, she should sharing with someone else on the room booked from hotel-breaks under Ms S*****) which was cancelled, but the hotel receptionist had to reinstate the booking to check the guest in as there was not any other room booked under her name, and she was charged £149.00 for the room, which Ms T****** has agreed in her email. The room booked under G***** was not vacant until 3pm when our Housekeeping Manager and Duty Manager checked but later it was extended for one more night by the guest which was the charge of £164.00. The hotel Operations Manager has also checked with Housekeeping and those rooms were occupied and the key for extra room was not returned, our reception team do not issue out hotel bedroom keys with checking for identification and payment details. One extra room under L** T***** which was reinstated (£149) and one extended night for the room under G***** (£164). Therefore, we see no grounds to refund further and hope this clarifies the matter, furthermore the negative reviews received from Ms O****** and yourself are unfair, incorrect and should be removed. Kind Regards, Daniel Gough | General Manager
"A Great Experience"
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here recently. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Spa treatments were fabulous and the pool and hot tub were great. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was lovely. Came away feeling very relaxed and happy.

"Extremely satisfied"
This hotel I found was amazing, not only were the reception team extremely helpful and polite but they would always make sure your stay was up to the customers needs and satisfaction, I hugely recommend this hotel to everyone, not only is it good for business but it's also great for leisure, with there indoor pool and sauna but then if you wanted some more pampering they have a beautiful spa where you can unwind, I was hugely surprised as it's pet friendly, it is defiantly the best hotel I've been too.

"Below average"
Lovely staff and a below average get away (better deals elsewhere) - Dinner was lovely, the steak and the gammon were very nice and I was impressed. The waiting staff were also fantastic. The breakfast in the morning was very poor, very much tasteless, bar the scrambled egg that tasted like fish (not nice). This was a major let down. The carpets in the hotel weren't the cleanest and were a horrible design. The pool area was pretty average. Looks nothing like the pictures online, little more basic. The pool/gym staff were very friendly and accomodating though. The parking is monitored by a company called parking eye, whom are terrible. Make sure to book your reg in as soon as you arrive and again before 11am each day or you'll receive a fine. All in all, nothing really amazing about the hotel. Nothing really to be wowed about and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return. Many of better deals elsewhere.

Dear Richie-peachie Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. Thank you for your kind words regarding the team, dinner and the service you received at dinner. Your comments regarding breakfast will be discussed with myself and the Head Chef to see where we can make improvements. With regards to the carpet we have a public area cleaner however the design of the carpet is unavoidable and nothing the hotel team can change. For the reference of future travelers and guests our pool area hasn't changed since the photos online were taken. If you have received a parking eye fine please contact myself to discuss this further. Kind regards Daniel
"Lovely stay, great food, comfortable room, everything was super"

"Lovely afternoon tea party"
Had a lovely afternoon tea at Robinswood hotel at the weekend for a baby shower. We had the use of a private room which was great as well as use of the bar area. Staff were friendly and helpful by finding highchairs for the babies and bringing a continuous supply of tea and coffee. Everyone had a great time :-)

"Not bad."
wjere to begin..... The nail technician who was more concerned about going home than treating my wife, expressing her annoyance at having to "unpack her stuff when she was about to go home" The bedrooms were like a sauna, way to many kids in the leisure centre, At dinner there was a rather loud middle aged couple clearly on a date at the table next to us (after they had finished their game of tonsil tennis in the bar that is) ....a message to that to that lady, he seriously wasnt that funny!! And finally, I shouldn't complain about customer service because judging by the time it took, the receptionist went down the road to curries to get a new TV controller, to replace me broken one. That being said, the evening meal was absolutely fantastic. The food was on point, and the waiters and bar staff that evening were very friendly and helpful.
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear TruckerTommyTit Thank you for your review. As discussed in other correspondence I apologize for the comment made by the nail technician and as previously discussed this will be addressed. With regards to too many kids in the pool, you were under the assumption that BW Signature were adult only hotels and I have enquired where you saw this. BW Signature are welcome to children of all ages and we are a family friendly hotel. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the team, the service they provided and the food of which you have been complimentary of. Kind regards, Daniel & team

"Friendly staff, clean, great food, nice little hotel. Worth a visit."
Me and my partner booked this hotel for a mid week mini break and were really impressed with the hotel, food and customer service. We booked this hotel that came as part of a deal that included a three course evening meal, breakfast and room for two nights. The pool and spa facilities were also included for two days. Our room was big comfortable, very clean and quiet of the evening. Reception staff were very friendly and check in was fast and effortless. During the day we spent time using the pool and spa facilities which was very nice and the swim certainly helped aching muscles after a day hiking in the nearly country park. The food in the restaurant was good and to a high quality but unfortunately on the night we ate there the food did take a long time to be served despite the restaurant being very quiet, but the service was great and the friendly staff apologised for the delays. We must give a special mention to Keith who was one of the housekeeping team and who chatted to us on several days telling us about local walks and trips to take in the local area. Really friendly guy and it's people like this that make your stay and should definitely be praised my management. Overall a cracking little hotel to stay in if you are in the local area, we had a great time and will definitely return.

"Excellent Hotel"
So close to a 5….room was lovely, clean and spacious, leisure facilities were excellent and all the staff at the hotel were very friendly. Dinner and breakfast was excellent and my only 2 small complaints were the desert I ordered, which was supposed to be a chocolate brownie but was basically chocolate goo and the bed in the room, which was extremely hard. Would definitely recommend this place.

"Nice break away"
Very nice. Ignore the negative reviews! Lovely room but could do with the floors being hoovered a bit better. Huge comfy bed. Bath with very powerful shower. Came as a coach party half board. Breakfast was good with a big range although the hot buffet wasn't topped up promptly and we were kept waiting a few times. Forgivable as there was lots of people and one day the chef was late getting into work! Evening meal was gorgeous and we had good choices of meals. Cannot comment on the pool/spa as didn't use it. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

"Such a bad experience"
Such a bad experience After driving through the most beautiful villages we arrived at this hotel and were so disappointed. Location is terrible and right near the town which is so run down and unpleasant. On arrival the staff were nice enough, but once checking in noticed t room wasn't clean, hairs everywhere in the bed and bathroom, however bed was comfortable and heating was easy to operate. We didn't even use the spa because it was full of young teens and screaming kids, definitely not a relaxing getaway. They also had no availability for any treatments which they hadn't told us when we booked. Breakfast was really awful. Raw hash browns, everything cold and tasteless. So disappointed as we'd travelled such a long way but luckily driving out of the city towards Cheltenham was our saving grace. Avoid this hotel 100%
Daniel Gough, General Manager at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Sally, Thank you for your review of your recent stay. I am sorry to read you feel Gloucester as a city is run down and unpleasant, I can reassure you that there are very beautiful parts of the city to enjoy. My apologies your room wasn't to our usual standards and will pass this on to our Housekeeping team to review. We have dedicated children swim times so out of these hours adults can relax and unwind, however we are family friendly and the times are detailed on websites and our welcome letter. I will pass your comments regarding breakfast to our Head Chef to review as recent feedback has been how much breakfast has improved so again my apologies if it wasn't the case during your stay. Kind regards, Daniel
"Lovely beds, noisy dogs, disappointing spa."
The good - excellent breakfast with lots of choice and a decent window in which to take it. Most of the staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were totally adequate and we were able to have adjoining rooms which really suited us with our 2 older children. Great quality black out curtains and really comfy beds. The bad - it's dog friendly, which is fine, unless your room happens to be near that of a small dog that yaps for an hour early on a Sunday morning. Also, if you have any mobility issues you may well struggle with the spa as the pool only has wall ladders, not steps. The little pool for children is also steeply sided and an entire circle with no graduated access. Unfortunately the hot tub was colder than the pool as well. The ugly - serious mould issues right around the pool area and the bottom of one of the jet pools had sandy grit in it. It could have been a lovely night away for husband's birthday but a couple of niggles really let it down, especially because we had specifically booked a place with a spa and then I had to be helped in and out!

"Great break away"
We booked this through secret escapes and couldn't understand the poor reviews. The leisure facilities and beauty treatments were excellent. Our room had everything we needed for our stay and breakfast was full of choices for a full English or healthy option. Dinner In the evening was very good and although we had waited until the large groups were served we were in and out in a reasonable time. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we would return.

"Fantastic stay"
I stayed here back in October and decided to return based on the leisure facilities. Breakfast now has coffee machines and the breakfast was much better than last time. Also BT Sport is now on in the bar and the service was better than our previous visit. The leisure facilities are still great and the pool area clean and a warm pool makes a great stay for me. Free parking and great food topped off a wonderful weekend.

"Horrendous-don't bother"
This was the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. The guests next door brought around 10 drunk non-residents to their room at 3am and woke up us. The walls are paper thin! You can hear everything! They were shouting and smoking weed which made our room stink! I had to call reception twice before they came and they only made them leave after I threatened to call the police myself, only for them to return at 5am and wake us up again! This was supposed to be a relaxing break but we got no sleep and we were too tired to get up to use the facilities the next day which was the only reason we booked this hotel. We expected way more for the price we paid! The actual hotel is ok but the paper thin walls and this experience has put me off ever returning. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a relaxing break. If the situation been handled more swiftly and the guests removed this probably could have been avoided.I

"Overpriced and underwhelming"
Hotel and facilities were fine. Nothing special. Rooms were average, decent size, reasonably clean. They did need a good clean in places (grubby windows, cobwebs and dead insects) Reception area well presented. Pool and spa facilities-water too cold. Biggest complaint is regarding the restaurant staff. I don't want to name an individual, but do believe guests should be looked at and spoken to with a level of respect. Let's say she was having a bad day or doesn't like her job, not actually my fault. The restaurant probably seats 200. There were 2 tables in use. We were asked if we had booked. We hadn't. The member of staff booked us a table for 20 mins time. (Were they expecting a mad rush of customers in that time to fill up all those empty tables???) We were told to go to the bar and then come back for our table. She also went to the bar and snapped a response when I asked about cocktails. “We don't do cocktails!” Aperol Spritz and double gin and lemonade- £20.20!!!! We decided to get a taco in to Gloucester and eat there. Taxi was about £15, so worked out cheaper than staying at the hotel.

Dear Zhad72 Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. We are sorry to hear that some aspects of your stay were not as you expected. Our pool temperature runs at 30 degrees usually but believe that during the time of your visit this dropped slightly to 28 degrees for which we are genuinely sorry. Our restaurant seats 80 covers and due to some pre booked large groups meant availability was limited. Regarding the staff member we have passed your comments to our new Food & Beverage Manager to investigate further and offer our apologies for the lack of customer service you describe, this is not our normal standard. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Lovely little find!"
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff and excellent service. One issue with our room which was resolved beyond our expectations. Breakfast buffet was also superb with plenty of choice. Reasonably priced drinks in the bar. Couldn't get a restaurant booking, but we're happy to serve us from the restaurant menu in the bar. Would stay there again

"Enjoyed the spa, pool and gym. Great breakfast. Comfortable too. Well done. "
We had a good stay . Good. 1. Great breakfast from the buffet. Eat as much as you wish 2. Comfortable rooms with tea coffee facilities and lots of hot water 3. Great gym , spa and pool with hot tub. Kids welcome 4 to 6 to swim. Really enjoyed all this. 4. Easy park and sign car in 5. Staff very helpful Not so good 1. Hard to book through remote booking system and difficult to get room of choice in this system. Odd that the room allow 3 persons so if u are family of 4 you end up scratching head!!!!!! Tip book for 3 even if it's 4. Easy to sort at hotel. I bet they loose tons of bookings and money in the silly rule of 3 and difficulty sorting or communicating between hotel and remote booking site. Tip to company....sort this out . Overall good and would have given 5 if not for booking nightmare.

"Needs improvement "
We chose here for our wedding anniversary as the pool was the main seller for us & we chose a suite to stay in for 2 nights. Pros - the pool is great, massive hot tub in the middle of a fairly heated pool, thanks entirely to the hot tub, rapids & waves for the kids, a steam room & sauna too. So fun, didn't want to get out. The room was OK, for a suite the bathroom was very small and needs updating. The bath, you can just about stand in its not very wide at all - highly doubt you'd be able to lay down it. Comfy bed, nice big living room area. Generally, could do with updating. Cons - staff - or lack of. The young lady serving behind the bar was quite unprofessional. Due to being busy they were here there and everywhere but the bar was unattended for 35 mins so a few of us complained as naturally we wanted service, and 35 mins was unacceptable. We also waited for our room at check in for over an hour, which reception pretty much shrugged their shoulders at... not professional. We left a night early in the end as we decided it would be easier to leave & enjoy the rest of our anniversary than stay there & have to put up with more issues. Overall, think Robinswood needs a complete overhaul. The only selling point IS the pool.

"Dirty rooms"
The room was dirty, dust build up on the bedside lights, headboard and the remote control was dirty. Windows need upgrading and they are very old and let in a draft. Walls are like paper, creaking floorboards. You can hear everything from other rooms. Limescale build up in the kettle with old water left in there too so it smelt. There were cobwebs in various places, most of which really obvious so no excuse for missing them. Would not book again

"So very disappointed"
So VERY disappointed with our stay here. We have used Best Western hotels for many years and are members of their reward scheme. Never have we experienced anything like this. My daughter had booked a a spa package with Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for my birthday. The reception team told us they had no twin room for us so gave us a double and they were full in the dining room for supper. We showed them our booking confirmation and payment, all was sorted. My daughter had booked a few spa treatments for me the next morning but they had been booked for the wrong day by the reservations team. We were leaving Sunday, they were booked for Monday. I must add that a lovely team member Kate was very apologetic and helped as best as she could. We had only been driving home for about an hour when my daughter received a message from her bank to say the hotel and taken out another amount of money for our nights stay, even though she had already paid in January. She immediately rang the hotel. To add complete insult to injury my daughter has been double charged totaling £280 My daughter has sent the hotel and Best Western main; receipts, proof of payments and bank statements for both transactions by still no money returned to her. Best western main say they see both transactions and for the hotel to return payment and the hotel say they are waiting on confirmation from hotel general manager. She has called one number after the other and no one can seem to issue her a refund.

"Spa break booking"
The hotel was clean and the front of house staff were efficient and friendly at checking us in. The room was clean and suitable for our stay although the beds were a bot hard for our liking. The Spa was below average for spa facilities, although the staff were good and the therapist was very good. Food was average but the service was poor and the wine selection was more like vinegar.

"Nightmare"
I have travelled the world on both business and pleasure, and I can honestly say this is the worse Hotel i have had this misfortune to stay in..It was filled with a party of young men who got hopelessly drunk, spent the whole evening shouting, swearing and singing rugby songs.. Not once did the management try to restrain this behaviour but actually encouraged it by continuing to serve alcohol to them. The staffing levels were inadequate(.4 members ) trying to service a chaotic bar serve in the dining room. there was no one on reception, just a notice give a mobile telephone no dealing with any quires on may have. The staff lacked any training and were left by management to cope with horrendous situation, When challenged the next morning the manager insisted all was well, and he had been on duty, that is a lie he was not seen at all by public or staff The room was not made up as requested, bed unmade and towels left on the floor and no soap or shampoo in the dispensers in the bath. Because of Cheltenham festival the single room occupancy had been increased from £99 to £375 per night and the menu choice greatly reduced. I had been to the hotel on three previous occasions, and was shocked at its decline..My advise to anyone considering this hotel DON'T it should be avoided like the plague.
Bishwa Ghimire, Other at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Terryg Thank you for your review and first ever contribution to TripAdvisor. The hotel room rate was reflected by the demand in the area for Cheltenham Festival and those staying had the option to book or not. The hotel during Cheltenham race week was surprisingly occupied with those attending the horse racing where alcohol was served. The hotel staff did speak to over excited individuals and refused service of alcohol to a small number of guests. The hotel has a designated manager on duty at all times so I am unsure which manager you are describing. If you'd like to contact me to discuss further please do not hesitate Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Awful experience"
I only give this one star rating because there is no zero rating available. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Truly terrible. It was the first hotel I have stayed where I had to make my own bed!

"Fabulous hotel"
Absolutely fabulous - staff were really friendly and worked so hard when the hotel was totally full for the Cheltenham festival -food we had was really well prepared, the room was spotless and the bed really comfortable- the leisure suite was the icing on the cake for us -highly recommended and we're gutted we can't book again for next year as it's already full

"Horrendous"
Whoa. What to say..?!? £251 for a night, no phone in the room, or room service Bishwa checked us in and the computer kept crashing, took £100 for a holding deposit as we wanted room service, which we made clear - to find no menu and offered the ability to go to the restaurant and carry the food to our room - in hindsight we should have, the keys did not work repeatedly in the door and had to get them reprogrammed repeatedly. The restaurant was disgraceful - huge groups of men screaming, shouting swearing, making “gay” jokes and the restaurant staff do nothing about the behaviour, really intimidating for 2 people in a same sex relationship- F this, C that… right in front of staff and they do nothing, completely ruined the experience - you should be ashamed BW. Awful experience all round, dated rooms, bathroom, and a broken TV remote and definitely not worth the money! No one in the hotel was helpful, or even polite, they were obviously busy for the races but no excuse for the poor service vs. The price.

"Not the best of stays"
We booked a two night stay in an executive room the king size bed was comfortable and the room clean, the bathroom was looking tired and in need of maintenance. The major problem was the room key card which failed to work on numerous occasions resulting in many trips down to reception to get it reprogrammed. The cooked breakfast buffet was of poor quality and not particularly warm , the coffee was weak and tasteless and self service from a thermos jug .

"Brilliant Hotel..."
Able to check in early which was great. Jamie, the duty manager was helpful and friendly. Previous reviews had mentioned kids in the pool at certain times so we headed down as soon as we had checked in. The pool area is clean, large and has a great hot tub. When kids did start to arrive it wasn't inundated by any means so it was no problem. 3 course dinner was really nice and included wine. Jamie also sent a bottle of prosecco to our table with his compliments as when we had been talking at check in, we mentioned that we had got married last year during the pandemic. Just a little touch like this really meant a lot, so thank you!! Room was a good size with a large comfortable bed, we slept well and the room and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and again, the pool was NOT overrun with kids on the morning as you'd be led to believe in previous reviews. If I had to pick up anything, it would be just to turn the music down slightly in the restaurant, but as I say, this is me being picky!! Overall, we found the staff to be friendly and professional and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

"Don't even bother if you have kids"
Despite the indication of the website that this hotel is family friendly, it really isn't. Although the room was an acceptable size, the noise across the hotel was greater than any others I have visited the past year - both in room floorboards, doors, corridors and from outside and other rooms. Not ideal with all of you together in the room, but bearable. There is an issue with the restaurant size and cover limitations and achieving a table in short notice, so we ended up eating in the bar, food and service was just about average. The real problem was the expectation of our daughter getting to swim on Saturday, this "spa hotel" reports that child hotel guests are not permitted to swim between 1100 and 1600, which is somewhat daft considering what you pay to stay, as well as how empty the pool was in the day and that no other hotel seems to restrict in this way. But even worse was that on turning up at 1015, my wife was informed children could not swim after 1000. Apparently the website is wrong! Cue a distraught daughter, and a big reshuffle of my work visit to take us to a hotel where the swimming pool isn't limited so stingily.

"Great Spa but the rest of the hotel is definitely not a 4 *!!"
Whilst the rooms are a good size, they are tired, paint peeling off in the bathroom and dirty curtains and window ledge. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows rock hard and lumpy!! The breakfast was cold and tasteless and the coffee was like water (no coffee machine in a 4* hotel?!!), just a flask that you had to pump to get coffee out of. The hotel staff were friendly and fairly helpful. The Spa was nice, good pool, steam room (sauna out of order), jacuzzi, gym and a squash court. But all open to the public too as a leisure centre (which I didn't realize when I booked through Guardian Escapes). The two therapists who gave us massage treatments were great, friendly, helpful and skilled at what they do and the staff in the spa were friendly and helpful. But because of the other issues above I wouldn't stay here again.

"Pleasant Stay"
We stayed for 2 nights. On our arrival we was early which was fine, so had a cheeky drink in the bar whilst waiting for our room. No one on reception at first, but then we managed to speak to someone. We were told no rooms were available and had to wait, which we accepted because of being early. I asked again at 2.45pm as Check in was at 3pm, to be told no rooms available again, the receptionist who was not helpful at all told us to stay in the bar and she would get us when our room was ready. My husband went to reception at 3.35 to be told by a lovely lad called josh that our room was ready and had been for a while. He is a proper credit to the hotel, his customer service skills are 5 star. Other than that our stay was pleasant, the food was lovely, we had a 3 course meal both nights and I highly recommend the salmon. We slept extremely well both nights, only a few people talking loud in the corridors on their way to their rooms, which you normally hear in any hotel. We will definately stay again.

"Hazel Saved The Day!"
Arrived on 2nd March, check in smooth after phoning the number on reception to request someone to check us in. Room located below ground floor via plenty of stairs (no lift so not good for those with mobility issues). Room was basic but fairly spacious and very clean as was bathroom. Arrived in resturant for our inclusive 3 course meal. Service a bit slow but servers were pleasant. Staters: Tomato Soup with rustic fresh bread Arrived with a normal slice of bread. No big problem but not as advertised. Soup very hot and tasty. Calamari was deep fried and put on plate with lettuce. Quite greasy but tonnes of it, far too much for a starter (12 large pieces - 4 would be suffice). Main: fish, chips and minted mushy peas arrived. Absolute massive portion, fish tasty, chips a bit soft and squidgy but only ate a few as fish was large. The mushy peas were garden peas mushed up. Second main was sirloin steak, sweet potato fries and mushroom. Steak should Ave been medium but arrived very well done and a bit tough but edible after a long day! Dessert: both opted for ice cream as quite full. Day 2: Spa with bucks fizz, afternoon tea and 50 min massage of choice. There is no spa relaxation area. The only place to chillax was by the pool. No offer of te robe and slippers until after 4 hours and then we had to ask and pay for the robes. No bucks fizz welcome, no welcome at all really. After a swim and steam room which was lovely, it was time to sit in the reception area shared with the gym in bathers (not at all flattering, private or warm). Only one masseur on duty so my husband went first whilst I sat waiting, feeling extremely uncomfortable for a further hour. When my turn arrived, I was met by Hazel and taken to the massage room. By this time, I was regretting booking but Hazel saved the day. She was absolutely amazing and made the experience one to remember. In fact, I would highly recommend her. A lovely lady, knowledgeable and excellent at what she does. Whilst I was having my massage, my husband went back to our room as he felt very uncomfortable in the reception hanging around for an hour. Whilst in the room he heard loud banging on the door. He opened it to find 4 hotel staff telling him he needed to vacate the room. He explained we booked for two nights but the hotel staff were insistent we only booked one night. Quite rudely they again told my husband to leave. In panic he agreed and went to grab his phone before leaving. Thankfully, I'd left my handbag in the room and my husband had a quick look inside and seen the booking form. He went back to the room door where all 4 hotel staff were waiting for him and he showed them the booking form. No apology just an acknowledgement that they did not see that paperwork on their system. It was now 3.30pm, nobody knew about the afternoon tea and sent us to reception to ask (in our swimwear and the robe we had to pay to wear). Reception sent us to the restaurant. Not a living being in sight. We wandered around and found a bar area, again unstaffed. I ended up having to go through a door into the kitchen area and ask about the afternoon tea. Clearly an inconvenience, I was told to sit in the bar area. After 12 more minutes a waiter came over and asked what we wanted. I explained we had afternoon tea booked in. 18 mins later out came some sandwiches (dried bread) and cakes that looked like they had come from the corner shop, sliced up and squeezed onto a plate. We waited a further 20 minutes but no sign of the tea or bucks fizz. Again, a trip to reception twice resulted in the waiter asking if I want one cup of tea. I explained there was two of us. 13 minutes later 2 mugs of tea arrived luke warm. Before I could ask about the bucks fizz the waiter disappeared. Needless to say the bucks fizz never arrived.

"4th visit and more planned"
This was my 4th stay for a spa break with my daughter. If you want luxury, or expect to receive 5 star service its not for you. If you want friendly helpful staff, comfortable beds, great spa treatments and convienience of venue then youll be happy Saturdays are busy in the pool and lower floor rooms allow dogs so if you don't want to here barking ask for a room higher up. If you want something not on the menu, ask, im plant based and had great meals. The rooms, poolside etc have been clean on every visit. Bit dated but thats fine. Ive seen comments about rude staff which ive never experienced. I have seen staff chatting but gave never been ignored. In short, dont go if you want luxury five star, or expect mitchellin rated food. Do go if you want to feel comfortable, relax anddont mind putting door codes in the doors yourself for changing rooms! Look out for staff Sharon (floor), Brandon and Lee (chefs) who are all fab!
"1 night stay"
I phoned continuously for 2 weeks to try and book a spa treatment during our stay, as we were celebrating my mothers 50th Birthday. I didn't get any call back from the spa and the main reception said they would get back to me. I finally got through the day before our stay to find out the spa was fully booked for the whole of February. I was extremely unhappy with this as I wouldn't have booked to stay if I had been told this and it was too late to cancel! The carpet in the room was sticky which meant I had to wear no socks to dinner! And refrain from putting anything on the floor. I turned the heating off in the room using the dial on the wall, however the radiators were still red hot. Myself and my mother didn't sleep well all night due to this and we woke up feeling ill and coughing. It didn't help that the windows were so stiff and we were unable to open them. The service at dinner was really disappointing. We arrived and waited over 20 minutes before getting a drink, as we were told there wasn't a drinks menu by one lady and another lady didn't know what soft drinks they sold (both members of staff didn't return to our table). After speaking with Jen on the restaurant reception we finally received drinks and ordered our food with her. When food was being brought out nobody had collected the previous courses so there was hardly any space and the food was wasn't very hot. I then had to find another member of staff on the reception to ask for a pudding and again for when we wanted our bill. Jen really saved our night, as she was so caring and gave us our drinks free due to all of the problems. She really did look after us. This is all a shame because the hotel it's self is beautiful, the food was really nice and other staff around the hotel were really welcoming and helpful.

"Hixk"
My husband and I have just returned from an overnight stay at the Robinswood. On arrival we asked whether we could upgrade our room but were told the hotel was full booked (we had tried phoning beforehand but were told it could only be done on the day of arrival). We were disappointed that the room opposite had a dog, which kept barking, thankfully not through the night and the fire door next to our room was propped open so they could take the dog out. The door was regularly banged and it didn't feel secure. The pool was nice but needs updating. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were good value for money. We've stayed here before but probably wouldn't stay again because of dogs being in the hotel, we didn't complain to reception as I dont feel they could've done much as it was fully booked.

"Fantastic for the price"
Me and my wife were treated to an over night stay as a Christmas present and it was exactly what we needed. Check in was quick and friendly and the room was spacious and clean. It was a shame that there was no coffee on offer in the bar as I do like a nice latte but the staff can't help the machine being broken. I requested more milk and coffee sachets for my room and the two members of staff on the front desk hunted high and low for some for me which a really appreciated. The spar facilities were fantastic, although I preferred it after 6pm when the children had to leave. Its hard to relax in the jacuzzi with them dive bombing every 5 minuets but we have children so didn't mind to much and like I said from 6pm -8pm it's adults only so it was quiet then. Shannon and his team in the spa were very helpful and friendly( so sorry I can't remember all your names) . He help us book in for two treatments each for the following day. In the morning the breakfast was hot ,plentiful and with a wide selection. It was constantly being topped up and the team worked hard to keep everything clean and tidy. Down stairs we again used the spa facilities until it was time for our treatments, they had ran out of slippers which was a pain as we had only Brought outdoor shoes with us so had to barefoot it around the place but it was clean enough for us to do so.( One side note would be we didn't enjoy having 1xtra on the tv in the spa waiting room, totally personal preference but not the best music to listen to while filling out your treatment form especially as the signal was disrupted so was a mix of fast r&b and static!) We had a facial, a leg and foot and a back and shoulder massage. The ladies who did this were lovely. They weren't overly chatty which I liked as I really wanted to just relax and enjoy it. At the end they reccomend some products that they had used but didn't do a "hard sell" which would of put us off straight away. Unfortunately they had ran out of the face serum my wife wanted to buy. All in all would 100% reccomend to any couple who just wanted a relaxing night away.

"Good facilities"
Booked as a spa break including dinner & breakfast. The spa facilities are good. The pool has sessions for children which are best avoided if you're after a relaxing spa experience. Once the children's sessions are over, the pool is lovely. It's worth packing robes as, unlike most spa hotels we've stayed in, these are not included. We had an executive room which was spacious and comfortable, it did need some basic cosmetic maintenance. Plenty of towels and shower gel. No phone in the room, there is a mobile number to ring if you need assistance. We tried ringing twice but it was not answered. The restaurant is well presented and the food at dinner was of a decent quality. They seem to be running on a skeleton staff as service was slow and tables were left uncleared for long periods of time. Breakfast was limited. There was enough selection but not enough quantity. Items were constantly running out with a long wait for more supplies to arrive. For the price, this hotel is good.

"friendly Hotel"
We booked the 2 night spa package with Breakfast and evening Meal. Lovely spacious room with massive bed, table area and TV - all very clean. the hotel itself had a nice happy and friendly feeling to it and from the minute we walked in the door to the day we left, the staff were very friendly and approachable. The Spa area was very pleasant. It was unusual to see quite a few children splashing around (and having fun!), which is unusual for a spa! we did expect a more chilled environment however.. Our kids are older now and if we visited the hotel 10 years ago they would have absolutely loved it! So respect to the hotel management for catering for families and sticking to your guns! The only negative I have to bring up is the day 2 evening meal! Day 1 was a really good burger and chips.. Day 2 I thought I would be healthy and have the Salmon, sautéed potatoes and king prawns! The Salmon was boiled and the king prawns were baby shrimps which you would find in a prawn cocktail! Not good.. and if this was not part of the 2 day package I would have sent it back. * I must add thou that on this evening, the hotel had a major staff shortage due to what I assume was COVID. The above did not affect my stay and at the end of the day we are all human and living through a pandemic!

"FANTASTIC SIZED BED"
We booked via Wowcher £69 . Parking free, opposite a ski place, couldn't use due to storm. Entrance nice, had to call a number as receptionist isn't always there, didn't wait long. Added car number plate for free parking. Hotel was smart and clean. Rooms lovely, bed was fantastic, great size and very comfortable, rooms very warm. Kettle ironing board hairdryer and t.v Spa and pool area was lovely. Pool warm with different areas. Steam and sauna lovely. Changing rooms clean and tidy. Could have done with a spin dryer for your costume etc . Dinner, menu was expensive and limited, so we went out into the town areas to eat. Loads of shops and water side area. Breakfast was ok good choice but had better. Sausages were tasteless, bacon fatty prefer better done. Just warm

"I won't stay here again"
Comfortable room. However, my key card failed 3 times during my 3-nt stay, the pool was noisy and too small to usefully swim in, and the restaurant has very little natural light, making it somewhere to make a quick departure from, rather than linger. A car is definitely needed. The nearest bus stop is a brisk 20-mn walk away, and a taxi costs around £10 from Gloucester rail station.
"Weekend in Cotswolds"
Clean room, great facilities. We made use of the gym, sauna, steam and jacuzzi. Enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant and complimentary breakfast. Only quibble was noisy guests from the ski lodge opposite.
"Visit to gloucester Robinswood Hotel for valentines weekend."
This hotel is vastly over priced, and does not deserve its 4* rating. Rooms are poorly kitted out, lack of amenities, carpet grubby, curtains broken. Some staff were extremely rude and abrupt in their response to questions when asking for assistance. Our weekend was booked as a romantic valentines/35th anniversary weekend. Even though the hotel staff were fully aware of a 'RAVE' taking place at the ski school opposite on the saturday afternoon/evening, clients were not informed and were kept awake until 5am with very loud music until 1am with revellers staying at the hotel continuing to party very loudly until at least 5am. We were one of many couple who complained to hotel staff and were told that this event was nothing to do with the hotel. We have stayed at many Best Western Hotels and have always been 100% satisfied with the hotels and amenities, however, this one leaves a lot to be desired, and we will not be recommending it to anyone we know.

Dear Nickgiles65 Thank you for your review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. We are sorry to read your comments however feel we need to clarify a couple of points for future guests booking or staying at the hotel. The hotel and ski centre are completely separate businesses with no affiliation so we were unaware of the party taking place in a different venue. Our team did ask guests attending who stayed at the hotel to go to bed and consider other guests however a small percentage were very drunk and rude and couldn't be reasoned with. The hotel is currently looking at if this is an annual event and ways we can stop a repeat if it is. We are sorry your stay with us was disrupted and hope you do consider staying again in the future as this is a one off event and not a regular occurance. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Less relaxation and romance, more children's playground"
Myself and my other half visited for a few nights break, with food and treatments included for the whole stay. A beautiful hotel in a lovely area. Room was an adequate size but bathroom a tad small and not quite up to clean standards (eg. Lots of mould round the taps and bath area). Food was lovely, staff were pleasant and treatments were great. Really appreciated the whole “no housekeeping if you don't want it” as I have visited so many places that enter when you're not there and leave all your possessions and valuables vulnerable. HOWEVER, if you're looking for some time away to relax and wanting to use spa facilities, AVOID THIS HOTEL. There are a lot of schools around Robinswood and once 3pm hits and schools finish, the place is crawling with young children causing chaos in the pools, and making it the most un-relaxing experience ever!! You may as well stay at home and pop to your local leisure centre. If you're booking a package like myself where your breakfast is catered for, you have treatments booked (which tend to be fairly early and not too long after breakfast {7-10am}) and then have to leave to find lunch elsewhere and perhaps want to explore the city, by the time you return back, it is after school hours and the pool is riddled with young ones, and it stays that way until 6pm. Dinner for us was booked around 7ish, so we'd have to leave an hour prior to it to shower and get ready, and the pool shuts at 8pm so there's really only a small slot to use spa facilities and everywhere you look there is screaming children. This happened every day we were there, so I can imagine during school holidays it only gets WORSE (we visited just before the Valentine's weekend and it was bad then. If you book during the summer holidays you've got no chance of having a good time!!) Such a shame this is the case as I never would have booked this place if I'd had known it is popular for families, as I feel this was money wasted, and it was the most irritating feeling trying to relax when there are kids splashing right next to you. Also parking is a bit naff as you must remember to pass your registration details to reception or you'll be hit with a £100 fine when you get home. Some staff didn't speak of the monitored parking at all upon arrival so you must be vigilant!!

Dear Ashleight582, Thank you for your review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. We appreciate your kind comments regarding the food, staff and facilities. In regards to the childrens swim times we are a family friendly hotel and welcome everyone to the hotel, we also have many leisure members with children so our childrens swimming times are 08:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and 08:00-10:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 on weekends and bank holidays. We do have a childrens pool area away from the adults pool which our team monitor. Kind regards, Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Parking sting"
The website for this hotel said free parking for guests. What they didn't tell you is that you had to register your car at some terminal in reception. So, a week after returning home we were hit with a £100 fine by an external company that monitors the car park. BW have stated that there are signs saying that the car park is privately monitored and you need to register. This is absolute rubbish. We saw no signs. Also , we were supposed to be given a letter about parking when we checked in. This was also rubbish as we received nothing except times for breakfast. Theyshould rename this place the Robinsods Hotel. Please be aware of the parking scam.
Bishwa Ghimire, Other at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel, BW Signature Collection, responded to this review
Dear Compaq21 Thank you for your review. The hotel does have signage in the car park explaining the process of registering vehicles. Further to this there is also pop up banners as an aid memoir and it is detailed in the welcome letter given out on check in. Kind regards, Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager

"Great break"
We are staying in Gloucester Robinswood Hotel and are very pleased with everything, food, accommodation, staff etc. Having read some very mixed reviews we were apprehensive, but the location suited us. We don't understand what people have been complaining about. Our check in was smooth with efficient and welcoming staff, our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Our breakfasts have been excellent, we've had two dinners, which have been tasty, hot, well presented and good value for money. Unfortunately we don't know the names of all the staff who served us but Dean in the dining room, as well as the waitresses couldn't have done any better.

"Ultimate spa experience package"
I booked the ultimate spa two and took my mum. The whole day was so relaxing, we both really enjoyed ourselves. Spa reception team were all very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Changing facilities were good and very clean. We used the swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzi amd sauna and it was all very clean and not too busy so we felt comfortable. Both of us had treatments booked, my mum had a facial and she said it was very relaxing so I had half an hour back massage and half an hour facial. I was really impressed that I was offered two treatments within my hour slot. It was amazing! Bex was very professional, friendly and made me feel so comfortable. Her massage technique was the best I have had, she let me relax in peace the whole way through! The facial was the first I have had and I will most definitely be having more. I felt so refreshed afterwards! We had afternoon tea booked which got muddled but they quickly sorted it out and it was fab!Highly recommended

"Disgusting, run down and poor customer service"
The whole stay was nothing but a joke! It clearly stated when I booked the room if we wanted to book a table in the restaurant to ring in advance. I did this, was told I can't book a table until we arrive because of ‘corona virus' despite all restrictions being lifted before our stay. We then arrived I tried to book a table (while trying to check in which took 25 minutes because the receptionist wasn't very bright) to then be told I can't book until 6.00 because they give priority to guests with the spa package and to come back at 6.00 to book. I then returned to reception at 6, to then he told I can't book and we won't be able to get a table because they don't accepted restaurant for guests that haven't booked ‘the whole package' we were booked for ‘bed and breakfast' so firstly either the receptionists are lying or it's utter rubbish on your website? We then tried to order some food from the bar at 7.00 to be told they don't have any sandwiches and they can only provide us with chips! We had to resort to ordering a take away! Also the bar had ‘ran out of Prosecco' which I find highly unbelievable as it was only 7pm and it's an extremely popular drink. We then tried to book some spa treatments (as on the website it says we can) I asked about this and was told we could book on the day when I rang up to try and book the table at the restaurant. Again we were told we couldn't book any thing? The room was filthy and fallen apart which I have photos of. There was mould all over the windows along with dead flys, spiders and a ladybird. The towels were dirty, the pillows smelt damp. The bath room door handle was hanging off, the bed side lamp was fallen apart, the other lamp didn't work, the lights in the bathroom didn't work, the sink was filthy. The tv remote didn't work. The toilets in the bar were absolutely vile!! Every single one of them had poo in, the doors didn't lock and the flush didn't work. The customer service was appalling!! This certainly wasn't worth £80.00 and that was only because I had booked it with groupon. I am requesting a refund! I will never ever step foot in this hotel again and I can't honestly believe it's still going with the way it is. If nothing is done about this I will be taking matters further. How can you justify charging people these prices when the place is a dump and the people you have employed have no idea about customer service?

"Poor service, poor communication, poor standard of room"
Tried to pre book restaurant as per website instruction, rang and was told to book on day. Checked in and was told to book later we tried to book later and was told it was full. Had to then pay for taxis to go out and find somewhere to eat. Receptionist very confusing, very forgetful and slow and checking guests in. Standard of the room was poor loose fitting, scratched furniture and mouldy windows. Will not be staying here again and shall be ensuring that reviews are left on social media platforms and telling people we know. £144 for a very poor one night experience

Dear E5065OXianw, Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. I am sorry to read your experience was not as you expected. For the benefit of future guests we would like to offer clarity on a couple of points. The hotel is very popular at the weekend and we do fill quickly with guests on dinner, bed and breakfast packages. We do offer an extensive menu in our bar as well as the restaurant. We do hope you will reconsider and stay again and thank you for highlighting the issues with the bedroom which our maintenance team will address as a matter of urgency. "Not Quite up to Premier Inn Standards"
Really lovely staff, very good swimming and leisure facilities, but the hotel itself was very tired and in need of much improvement, the breakfast was mediocre at best, the breakfast items were luke warm everyday we stayed, 3 days in total, overall not that impressed

Dear Lenny, Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel however this review is the same as your previous review so we are unsure if this is a new review. "Pleasant stay"
Overall a pleasant stay. Some lovely, friendly staff mostly, but a couple were a little rude at times. Good bedroom. Very clean and great shower. Comfortable bed. In the restaurant, the food was nice. The Bar was a bit cold but ok, would have enjoyed sitting there longer if was a bit more cosy. We used the spa facilities, the were good. I would stay here again.

Such an amazing hotel! The staff were excellent - warm, friendly but so professional too. Our room was exceptionally clean. The menu range and quality of food was great. We were spoilt for choice. "Worst experience ever!!"
It took 15 mins for someone to arrive at reception to check us in at 6pml. We then arrived at our suite to find it stunk of cigarette smoke and had not been cleaned. Moved to 2 doubles which took 30 mins!

"Great Hotel & Spa"
Lovely hotel with great spa facilities! Restaurant food very nice, lunch menu slightly limited and same price as evening meals for some things. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms/decor a little dated but very clean and tidy, and facilities in room were great. Nice power shower and bath in room, also had an iron, ironing board and hairdryer. Bed quite firm, not my preferred choice but fine for a few nights away :-) We visited Buzz Bingo for an evening when at the hotel, taxi return cost roughly £18 for two and a fun night out! Dry ski resort opposite the hotel entrance for outside activities and places to walk. Lots to do in surrounding areas if you have a car and/or children. Pets welcome too at small cost! Spa, pool and gym facilities all great! Pool slightly heated and there is also a steam room, sauna and three jacuzzis and a small pool for children. Children allowed in on allocated times only. Treatments are fabulous and reasonably priced. Gym and squash courts including in your stay at no extra cost - bonus! This was our second visit and will be returning again. Lovely little hotel in a nice area.

Dear richardsalter1 Thank you for your feedback and review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. The hotel called all guests who booked over the festive period to make them aware the hotel was operating only breakfast, I apologise if you booked after we made these telephone calls. The reason for this was the hotel could have only operated a dinner service with agency chefs and the cost of this could not have realistically been passed on to our guests. I do hope this clarifies the hotels decision and you will return in the future. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"A great hotel"
My wife booked a night away as it was my birthday I wasn't expecting it to be so nice as it was a last minute cheap night away I was very pleasantly surprised Check in was quick and went straight to room nice spacious clean room no 37 Decided to go straight to the leisure facilities and was surprised how nice it was it did get very busy with non guests using the facilities We used the restaurant meal wasn't the best for the money had to ask for steak knives as they didn't come out with meal and had to wait as staff were busy steak was quite fatty Wife ordered a drink and was then told they had ran out The waiter was very good at his job very busy and looked like the only one working covering every job when I said it was my birthday he gave me a free wine Breakfast was excellent and waiting staff very polite All staff wore masks Would definitely stay again but wouldn't use restaurant I would go else where for a meal Please pass on my thanks to the waiter he certainly deserves a compliment

Stayed 19th December. Spa facilities not available, staff shortage. Over charged for Spa treatment after politely questioning the bill. "Lovely overnight stay"
Visited on a Groupon dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Josh on reception was lovely and helpful. Check in online and easy, given all details and choice of dinner times. Good menu selection (supplement for steak) food was lovely. Room pleasant but sadly no control on radiators - so room so hot despite 2 windows open wide, staff also overheard complaining about it. Self serve breakfast, plenty of choice , but sadly packed away before guests had finished. Lovely pool but quite busy with outside guests. Overall a really pleasant stay and very good value for money.

We booked the hotel for the wedding anniversary celebration and had a fantastic weekend, thank you..Josh in reception was very friendly and helpful; all staff was welcoming. The hotel interior is nice, comfy, and stylish. Tasty breakfast, just restaurant area needs to be well cleaned(corners, walls)But for us, it did not cause any problems. We really liked the swimming pool and sauna, thank you. We did not hear any noise from neighbors' rooms and halls; the room was clean, good size. Separately thank you for swans from towels, it was sooo sweaty!)The hotel location is perfect, lot of facilities around, free big parking. Maybe Covid security could be better, but we tried to keep safety rules and felt secure. We definitely will be back.

"A little disappointing"
Stayed for one night, impossible to sleep as the room was far too hot with no obvious thermostat, the people in adjacent rooms were very audible due to poor sound insulation. All night I could hear people being sick and coughing in adjacent rooms on both sides. Might be worth having empty rooms between guests where possible to minimise complaints, if staying longer we would have asked to be moved. Didn't feel covid secure, staff not wearing masks, guests not advised to wear them when walking through the corridors, particularly on the morning shift. Breakfast a little disappointing for the price, however they did offer gluten free bread on request, no allergens listed / menu with breakfast. I was pointed to a table that was yet to be cleaned etc. Just not enough staff. On the plus side reception were polite and helpful. Room itself was clean and a good size.

Dear Emma W Thank you for your review and sharing your experience with fellow travelers. I am sorry to read your room was too hot, with the recent storms and bad weather we have wanted our guests to feel warm and homely but we will look into the thermostat in the room you stayed in. With regards to covid we have the screens in place and social distancing practices as well as hand sanitizer stations and covid risk assessments in place, with regards to staff members wearing masks we cannot make anyone but do provide masks for our guests and staff complimentary for those who want them. We do have allergens matrix for all dishes available on request. Thank you for your feedback and we will pass this on to the relevant managers, thank you for your kind comments regarding the team and bedroom. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Terrible communication!"
I have tried to cancel my room and get a refund over the past 3 days. I have emailed the hotel 3 times and also tried to contact them through booking.com (where I booked the hotel) I have not had one reply or response from the hotel at all! Absolutely disgusting customer services. I guess the hotel think that if they just ignore you then you will just forget.

We went for a spa day with treatment and afternoon tea. We had such a relaxing amazing day. The pool area was lovely and clean I could of stayed in the hot tub all day so relaxing steam room and pool also lovely aqua aerobics was on we joined in a bit a very friendly group and instructor. Changing rooms and showers were all good. I had a hot stones massage it was just amazing the therapist was very professional and made me feel rejuvenate so thanks I think her name was Emma. Now onto afternoon tea we had a lovely assortment of sandwiches and cakes all very fresh and enjoyable with lovely scones with plenty of jam and a massive pot of clotted cream as a family we really enjoyed are day and would definitely return thanks very much.

"Dire experience"
We had a voucher for cream tea and a spa treatment. The spa treatment was lovely however the cream tea was not. The scones came out raw three times and the cream was out of date and tasted bitter. We are not ones to complain but in this instance, it was necessary.

Very friendly and helpful staff, dinner was good but could be better for the hotel, nice leisure facilities. Enjoyed our one night stay. Only negative point was outside the hotel needs deep cleaning and no lift but help was offered by a manager. We will definitely recommend this hotel.

"Blissful spa day"
Today i went to the Temple Spa within this hotel for an hour massage and to use the spa facilities (pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room). I found these facilities to be great. The lady who did my massage Chanice did an amazing job and i left there feeling unable to accurately describe how good i felt. Definately did not regret spending the money on it. I also spoke to Louise a manager who was lovely and Shannon a laidback nice man. Never had a room so cant speak for that but would definately recommend the spa treatments.

"Fantastic staff helped make a fantastic couple of days"
My wife and I visited for two nights on an offer of dinner, bed & breakfast from a 3rd party site. We were looking for some relaxing down time and from the minute we entered the hotel and were greeted by Emma and Skye at reception to when we left we felt we had the perfect getaway. Whilst the room itself does in fairness could do with a little refresh (and we're only talking things like chipped laminate on the table - really not the end of the world!), the room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed including hair dryer, ironing board etc etc. We were shown where to collect spa robes and slippers and the team in the spa area were just as helpful. The pool area is as lovely as the photos suggest and we spent a full day and a half relaxing there. Very clean, well maintained and ideal for what we wanted. The evening meals in the restaurant also met our expectations. Dean greeted and looked after us and whilst the number of staff wasn't huge we never felt that was a problem and it was nice not to feel rushed and the food itself was really good. Breakfast was a self service buffet style and more than catered for what we wanted. There are some negative reviews about this hotel but from our perspective we had nothing to complain about and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well done and thank you to all the team that we met.

"AVOID AT ALL COST"
This has got to be my worst ever visit to a hotel. Upon arrival I waited 10 minutes at an unmanned reception desk. Other staff members noticed myself and my partner waiting but nobody acknowledged us or addressed us to let us know that we would be seen to shortly etc. When the reception staff did see us waiting, he said he “just had to do something and will be with us soon”, walking down the corridor. We then checked in after a frustrating start and used the spa facilities where children were screaming and playing (not exactly the relaxing getaway I wanted). We then went to dinner- whereby it was an experience I wish to never go through again. This restaurant is massively understaffed, therefore the few staff they had were stressed, not attentive and not friendly in the slightest. The food was poor at best, with a cold, dry salmon coming out for the main. Nobody asked if we needed any more drinkers throughout the meal. Nobody checked to see if the food was okay when they brought it out. We spent 35 minutes waiting for our plates to be taken away once we finished. The staff saw us waiting but quickly turned their heads and walked the other direction. The bottle of wine we ordered was pretty much dropped on our table and he walked off, it wasn't opened, poured etc. When I complained about the long waits, the poor service, nobody asking if we needed anything else or checking in- the member of staff replied by saying “okay” and turning his back to another table. The experience of staying here was shocking and I urge anyone to stay clear until they hire more staff who are better trained in customer service and people management.

Went with a group of school friends for a 40th birthday celebration. We instantly revert back to giggly teenagers when we are all together. The hotel staff did a great job putting up with us. They were friendly and made us feel welcome and appreciated. The bar would lose a star though due to slow service and being charged for something I didn't order and then they were about to tell me that they couldn't refund me and I'd have to go and chase if from customer service myself, but then the manager decided that it was only £4 so they could honour it from the till. Any way.... other than that we had a lovely stay. The spa and gym facilities were clean and had everything we needed. Visited Gloucester Quays festive market and shopping centre. Would definitely return.

"Worth a visit"
This hotel was booked very late on the Thursday evening after being let down at the hotel we'd already booked in Gloucester for the following evening. We arrived at the hotel which is fairly easy to locate and immediately used the spa and pool area which was clean, tidy and very good. Used the bar prior to leaving and this was good with a vast array of drinks on offer. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty if a little cold. Overall we will use this hotel again in the future over the other hotel we have used in previous years.

"Tired hotel with great staff"
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely large comfortable bad. Hotel a bit tired and located on a housing estate. Spa facilities and pool very good. Right next to outdoor ski run. Room needed a deep clean, mould in bathroom and around windows.

Dear dim295, Thank you for your review of Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. It is great to read you enjoyed our extensive leisure facilities and our comfortable beds. The hotel has a new housing complex adjacent and there are other facilities across the road such as the ski centre and golf course to enjoy. We are currently addressing the breakfast standards and offering so we hope to see you back again soon to see the improvements. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"Family Visit to Cheltenham"
The hotel was clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, not amazing but good enough and we ate well. We didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening as we went into Cheltenham. The fitness centre is nice particularly the pool area and we enjoyed using it. they provide you with towels so you don't need to bring your own. My teen son enjoyed the gym area as well. We all slept well as the beds were comfy and it was quiet at night.

"Overnight stay"
I had stayed regularly at this hotel when it was part of the Hallmark Hotel chain and found the atmosphere brilliant. Unfortunately COVID hit and their staff had to be let go or found other jobs. When I have stayed here recently, there were NO menus at all, to find out what food they were cooking but were not serving until 7pm. I found the whole overnight stay to be terrible and the new staff lacking friendliness. They didn't even serve any snacks behind the bar.

Dear justink344 Thank you for your review. I am sorry you didn't see any menus however we are operating a full bar and restaurant menu. Thank you for highlighting the lack of snacks behind the bar, we will address this for the future and hope you will return. Kind regards Bishwa Ghimire Operations Manager
"A pleasant surprise with excellent service"

"Weekend break"
Booked this with friends for their 50th wedding anniversary .On arrival was allocated our rooms , when in the room there was no heating , net curtains and adjoining doors not working . I spoke with reception Amber and Jamie who tried to sort out the issue but to no avail . Amber promptly move us to other rooms with heating etc and compensated us with a bottle of Prosecco and made sure we had a good weekend . The spa facilities were great , food was ok , but bar staff and waitress were very friendly . Thank you

"Good value for the price we paid"
Went on a one night Groupon offer and were more than satisfied with the room, meals service and leisure facilities. Girl on reception was very efficient, helpful and friendly. There was also good service in the restaurant and the 3 course meal was fine for the price we paid. Leisure facilities were also clean and the staff friendly and helpful. There was a basket coffee, milk and tea sachets on the reception desk in case you ran out which we haven't seen in other hotels and seems a good idea. We would definitely return for a stay in the future.

"Weekend getaway"
We got a deal on woucher for a 2 night stay with dinner, decided to purchase 2 of the wouchers so our friends could come with us. On entering the hotel reception area first impressions were good, found it to be clean and well presented. We were allocated by the reception staff room 108 for us and room 109 for our friends. On entering our room found it to have a damp smell but we didn't really take much notice of it and proceeded to empty out all our cloths from our cases. On a closer inspection we saw that there was damp patches in the bath room, bedroom ceiling and around the window seal and on the curtains. In retrospect we should have complained to the reception in the first instance but we didn't until the end of our stay. I informed the receptionist at the time of departure but she did not take much notice of what I said, "She just said I wasn't aware of it". So on taking into account her re-action to what I had told her I thought that I would write this review so that others potential customers would not fall foul of this. There should have been some kind of quality control system in place for a responsible person to check the cleanliness of the room before its allocation. But there wasn't any sign of any process being in place.

"Fantastic stay don't listen to the reviews judge for yourself"
Stayed here in October 2021 and had a great time. Leisure facilities are fantastic and the leisure team were really friendly. New menu is superb we had baked Camembert and calamari for starters, salmon fillet and steak for main and couldn't eat dessert we were full. Bar area is nice and a big TV is a good addition, the chalkboard in the bar said BT Sports coming soon. Rooms were nice and very quiet which is why we come to the Gloucestershire hills for. Breakfast was tasty but a coffee machine would add to this. Parking was easy and free, lots of signs to say register at reception so don't understand some of the reviews we read before booking. Overall nice relaxing stay with friendly team, would definitely stay again.

"Stomach churning stay at this hotel"
Where do I start... Stayed here over 2 weeks ago with my sister. We were told on arrival we had cancelled our stay and the person on the desk got quite grumpy with us when we said we hadn't!!! This was eventaully sorted, but it then went from bad to worse. On the first morning whilst finishing our breakfast, a memebr of staff started to sweep up the mess on the floor by where the food was kept. but then he lifted the brush up and swept the sides with it...THEN HE SWEPT THE TOASTER OUT WITH IT! We would not eat there again (would anyone??)so ate out that night and the next morning, so not only were we out of pocket with our stay, we had to go and eat elsewhere. The hotel have been contacted and promised a refund for our stay (not for the places we ate out at), but I'm still waiting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
"Rude reception staff- parking issues. Dated and depressed."
I came to the Robbinswood hotel on a work activity supporting a young person with autism to use to the spa as a special treat. I hadn't checked the parking restrictions in the hotel car park which say you have to register your car, so received later a massive £100 fine. ( As you can imagine supporting some one with additional needs I was focused on them rather than parking signs and having not visited before didn't think to check assuming parking was free ) Called to check the details out with reception and found them to be rude and unhelpful. They clearly get this issue a lot and many people calling them regarding system them have in place. As the person on reception regaled me with all the measures they have to alert people. Reception were very unsympathetic and dismissive. Just rude. I wouldn't have bothered reviewing the spa but now I am here I think it's fair to say that the facilities were dated and tiered looking absolutely not worth spending any money on if you are after a relaxing / luxury experience. Thanks a bunch Robbins Wood Hotel.
"Had a fantastic stay"
Staff were very friendly, food was lovely. Enjoyed the spa and the room was clean and comfortable. Service was quite slow in the restaurant and twice I had to go and get Evlyn behind the bar to sort the food out but she was helpful and efficient. Food was amazing apart from cheesecake which was dry and felt like had been defrosted. All in all a great place to stay and really enjoyed it. Would return again.
"Ken from Basildon"
The hotel was clean and tidy the staff where very nice the leisure facilities where good we paid extra for a suite total waste of money what they class as a suite is two adjoining rooms what was classed as your extra living space was like a waiting room bit of an after thought

"Good Location for Exploring Wye Valley & Cotswolds"
Recently stayed for a weekend break. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean although lacking a few amenities (fridge, USB charger ports, shaver plug, etc.) Leisure club was good with interesting pool layout. Bar area could be improved with better staff training. Also was difficult to get hold of someone at reception (often left unattended). Breakfast was good although at extra cost for us.

"Not perfect but perfectly fine"
Stayed for 2 nights with some trepidation after reading some of the recent reviews. As my title suggests the hotel was not faultless, however, it was clean, the pool facilities were a nice bonus, food on our 1st night was fine and served efficiently given how busy they were. For me, the strength of this hotel was its staff, from the reception, waiting/bar staff, cleaners and leisure staff. If you spend your time looking hard enough you will find fault and see tiredness in places. If you would rather spend your time enjoying your break you could stay in worse places. Overall happy with visit and would go back.
"An average visit."
Check in was efficient but not particularly welcoming. On an electronic screen in reception it was requested that guests wore masks in communal areas but hardly anyone complied maybe because not all staff observed either.Room was clean although there is no daily housekeeping due to Covid. Food was average service was reasonable, only ate in the restaurant on the first night, the bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Did not use gym or leisure centre. On the second night we returned to the hotel after a day of walking to find there was no hot water so we had to boil the kettle a few times to have a wash, this was due to a boiler needing to be reset we were informed when we reported this. Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of choice with lots of touch points, so be sure to use the sanitiser not everyone was doing this.
"Overall, a good stay!"
Had a lovely couple of days despite being wary of the negative reviews.(Surprised some people notice their meal or service with being on their phones!). Greeted by friendly reception team, impressive room, bed was huge, lovely decor. Breakfast was buffet style, I just like my sausages cooked a bit more, but no other complaints. Ate one evening meal which was tasty - pub grub really but served better. Staff attentive and friendly on this evening but we did have a long wait at bar the next evening and then served by an inexperienced member of staff. Husband enjoyed swimming pool and sauna while I had a full body massage, “Tammi”, I think her name is, was friendly but professional, excellent massage. Thoroughly recommend! This could be a very impressive hotel with a little bit of TLC but we understand the circumstances with the hotel being taken over just before Covid has to be taken into consideration, although would have been an ideal opportunity for the owners to have given the place a lick of paint. Also, there was some grime around bath taps and sink overflow. Would be an idea if 2 guests booked in to have 2 bath towels already in room and did feel on the morning we were checking out a bit rushed as housekeeping were clearly getting ready to service room as fresh towels were put outside, on floor, next to vacating rooms - not hygienic either. Despite these niggles, we did enjoy our stay and would go back.
"Weekend stay"
Avoid 323 if you want a room without very noisy floorboards . Breakfast is fair but make sure you book at reception to get it for £8.00 as apposed to £14.00 if you walk-in and give your room number. Location is a bit out of the way but The Kings Head can be recommended for food and drinks
"Really lovely hotel"
I read the reviews after booking this hotel and must admit I was a bit worried about all the negative reviews that had been left . Our first impression was lovely reception staff and easy check in , then went to our room and it was lovely with comfy king size bed and bath/shower and tv which were all good . Had swim and sauna then went for our pre paid three course meal which was in the price of our stay ,which was really nice I had tikka Massala and my husband had fish and chips which were really good was really impressed then had drink in the bar . We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return .
"Bad reviews are billy b"
Sitting in the restaurant right now. Food is good, good range, good quality, good service. Pizzas are defo not Chicago town - I'm looking at one now. Not in a council estate but in the posh part of village on the hill. Leisure facilities very good, super hot sauna and steam, great jacuzzi. Would defo recommend. PS, staff are very friendly.
"Disappointing"
Friend's room was mouldy and had dead bugs in it, our room was ok but it got really warm at night as there is no AC or air flow in the rooms. Also no fridges in the rooms, then had to ask for more shampoo at reception and they were quite rude and unprofessional and said they don't have any. Some of the staff are nice but realised many of them don't make eye contact, and are generally quite blunt. Rooms also don't get cleaned regularly and ours was not touched throughout our stay. Breakfast was average, and so was the swimming pool & sauna and steam room. Have to pre-book the spa treatments but were not told before arrival so we were disappointed when we could not get any. The only food served throughout the day are overpriced paninis and sandwiches at the bar and they only start serving food like a bowl of chips after 5pm.
"Try Cheltenham"
Room was not up to standard and staff would not move us until we made a big fuss (kept telling us to come back later). Breakfast was cold and the bar was soulless. Would only advise going here if you dont care about your experience. Was offered a free cocktail as a sorry only to be told they can't make cocktails.
"Very disappointed"
We booked a standard double room to find it was to single beds pushed together. The food from the restaurant was appalling, my partner ordered the pizza and it had obviously been cooked in a microwave. The spa was not open, one of the main reasons we booked. A weekend away wasted!!!
"Autumn break"
This was a long-awaited short break, and we were looking forward to some time to ourselves without having to think or worry about anything. We booked this hotel because it has a swimming pool, and we checked beforehand that it was definitely available, and that it had loungers. The pool is lovely, a perfect temperature with a jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. Mornings are definitely quieter because the leisure club is also open to the public and the afternoons can get busy, although this didn't cause us any issues. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance on one of our three days, which was very disappointing. The rooms are not cleaned every day unless you specifically request this. This was not made clear to us on arrival and, while we understand the reasons, it doesn't make for the best experience having to ask for toilet rolls as & when required. Our room was very nice, a bit dark but very comfortable, especially the bed. The curtains are also excellent, blocking out every bit of light for a good night's sleep. The shower worked well, and there's complementary body wash & shampoo. There is also a locked connecting door to the next room, which meant that we could clearly hear everything next door. Breakfast is a bit like a canteen experience - the staff are extremely busy, rushing around clearing tables and making sure the food is always topped up. Everything is self service, with a hot and cold buffet style. The options are somewhat limited - the only vegetarian options for the cooked breakfast are scrambled or fried egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato & hash browns. The cold buffet consists of three types of cereal, yogurt, fruit salad and pastries/croissants - there was also some fresh fruit available, plus juices & chilled water. Honey would have been nice, plus a selection of teas and coffees rather than the standard filter. The cooked breakfast was not always as hot as it should be, especially the beans, eggs & mushrooms. We only used the bar once, for refreshments when we arrived - we had tea, coffee and a selection of cakes which were very nice. Apart from not properly explaining the room cleaning situation on arrival, the reception staff were very accommodating, always happy to provide anything required, and to book taxis (which we did every day because the hotel is about 3 miles from the city centre). Our overall impression of this hotel is that it is running on minimal staff, and they don't appear to have adequate back up from the management.
"Short break"
Very good experience overall, food was delicious, room was clean and spacious, staff in all areas were friendly and helpful, only issue is the spa facilities were closed for maintenance, good location for visiting the Cotswolds and surrounding areas, I would definitely use this hotel in future.
"Dissappointing"
My friend and I stayed here as it was half way between where we both live. We booked because was a spa hotel. On the run up to our arrival my friend rang to say we needed a Twin room with a Bat, I also rang the spa to try and book in some treatments. I was told that due to shortage of staff no treatments available. On arrival our room was not ready so we had a drink in the bar which is quite dark and soulless to be honest. Finally we checked in to then find our room had a double bed and a disabled shower. We went back to reception and was moved to another disabled room with shower. On speaking to the Manager I was advised he would try abs sort out a room but they had a big group in. I explained that we booked months ago and this should have been sorted out then. Finally we are in our 3rd room now which is a family room. It's ok but could be cleaner. The first night we had a 3 course meal included in our deal. My friend had to send back her starter as it was Chicken and was cold in the middle. We also saw other tables send items back as well. The food was rubbish to say the least garlic bread was hard like a frisbee. There was indeed a big coach party in the hotel the meals they were given look far better than the normal menus and people were saying how nice they were. Also on check in we were told the spa and treatment room were closed for the first day but open the other 2 days of our stay and they would have spaces for us to book treatments. However when we tried to book anything was told they had no spaces at all left. Not happy. So all in all very disappointing. On a positive note however the staff were lovely and friendly and tried to help as much as they could.
"Great stay"
We stayed here overnight on our way to the south coast. Checked in online but had a short wait for room key, we were dealt with by Adrien who was efficient but not very warm. Our room was a family with a king size bed and single, very clean extremely comfortable. We had our dog with us so we couldn't eat in the dining room which was to be expected but we were allowed to eat in the bar. The food was really good, fresh and well cooked, very tasty. The bar staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. Our deal included breakfast which was served buffet style, all the usual cereals, breads etc., full English breakfast choice, again tasty and well cooked. We didn't use the pool or gym but they were available to us. Would definitely stay here again.
"It was okay.."
Staff were friendly, but it was clear that the departments struggle to communicate effectively. As we had a dog, it was important for us to know the rules for them and unfortunately the reception staff didn't know if they were allowed in the restaurant and was told to check with the restaurant staff, We did get a free drinks token when we checked in though, which was a nice touch. Although, there are no drinks menus and the bar staff didn't really know what drinks they actually did.. I had to ask and they would say yes or no.. There is also no atmosphere in the bar as there isn't any music, and considering there is nothing else local unless you want to drive, it was slightly disappointing. The location is slightly bizarre as it's in the middle of a housing estate with nothing local, Closest pub is a 30 minute walk, Gloucester town is about a 10 minute drive or an hours walk. The room was nice, but very warm! A fan was provided which did help a little bit. We also had a joining room with other guests, the joining door was locked but we could hear everything going on next door, and they could probably hear it everything we said too! The rooms also aren't cleaned everyday, you do have to ask for more amenities and our room did have cobwebs, especially in the bathroom. The pool, spa and gym was very nice, the pool was lovely and warm and looked great when it was dark outside. No lifeguard though, and children were jumping off the bridges into the pool and their parents seemed to be in the saunas, (as an ex lifeguard I wanted to blow my imaginary whistle). Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again, but that's more because of the location - which I know is something they can't help.
"Excellent value"
We stayed at the Robinswood for 5 nights on a bed and breakfast basis which we booked directly with the hotel getting a better rate than booking sites. Our room was very spacious and clean. The weather was very warm making the bedroom hot and stuffy. There was a fan in the room which helped and we kept in on all night. All the staff were friendly and helpful. In the restaurant at breakfast time they were extremely busy as on one morning there were 2 coach tours and on the other mornings 1 coach tour wanting breakfast at the same time. We just had a short time to wait for a table on that first morning. The breakfast was very good with a good selection. We only ate in the restaurant one evening and it was well cooked but the choice was a bit limited . We used the swimming pool and jacuzzi which we thoroughly enjoyed. A good hotel for exploring the area but you do need a car to get into Gloucester as it is quite a way out of the city.
"Amazing stay"
I don't know where to start! The staff are incredibly friendly! We had lovely spa treatments, the staff in the spa/fitness were so welcoming. The spa and pool facilities were amazing! The bedroom was also amazing and spacious, when we asked for extra pillows it was no trouble, Josh in reception sorted it very quickly! We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant, Evelyn was delightful and so helpful. The most pleasant spa, overnight break I've ever had. I can't recommend enough!
"Disappointed"
We booked this as part of our honeymoon to meet up with friends. It is located in the middle of a run down rough council estate. Food was awful restaurant staff miserable and unhelpful. Worst experience.
"Very good, look forward to return. "
This hotel provided me with excellent service, meals and room with walk-in shower. WHEN I visited earlier in the year meal choices were very limited but improved spectacularly in under one month. It was explained to me on an earlier visit that they had difficulty in obtaining supplies but this had now been remedied. Staff very helpful and welcoming.
"Helpful staff but disappointing stay"
We stayed in September for one night breaking our journey up. We were waiting at reception for 20 minutes due to several couples having booked groupon deals but the booking not having been made. We used the pool which was mostly clean and facilities were ok. The restaurant was pretty poor, the kids food came quickly but our mains were over an hour not very appetising. The staff did offer a complementary drink and we're trying to be helpful. It wasn't clear what the issue was. We stayed on the second floor in twin rooms with our kids and the corridor was quite noisy, the soundproofing isn't very good and the floor was really creaky. Decor was a bit tired too considering this is a signature site. Breakfast the next day was fine but busy and not a great deal of spacing of guests. Checkout was fine.
"Disappointed"
Booked this hotel as the pictures look amazing MISLEADING. Please don't be fooled by the lovely spa pool looks nothing like the pictures. My husband thought it Br nice to upgraded to a better room don't bother it was very dull basic cobwebs on the windows ,bed not comfortable and pillows awful, shower was broken could hear when the next room was showering as the water system was so loud. Bar prices absolute joke and food menu very basic. No lifts for anyone with disabilities. Nothing around the area so maybe some entertainment in the evening would be a suggestion? Bar area very small and again needs updating. Very dissatisfied as this was a buy a gift present for my 50th so when I see the pictures it looked lovely oh how wrong was I. There was one staff member who seemed to do all the work in the morning at breakfast and in the evening. Breakfast had to wait until all fresh stuff come out as run out too quick again one staff member running around maybe the chef or kitchen staff should have done that. Before we left to go to this hotel I read up on the reviews and had my doubts but you cannot always believe what you read but believe me there is much better out there. What this hotel needs is to upgrade making rooms more alive brining the hotel to a good standard maybe it's just for people that are on business trips and for people that have dogs and not for anyone wanting a nice get away. Very sorry but won't be booking again
"Great Hotel"
Very nice hotel with great friendly staff. Room was fine and was a decent size. Booked via Groupon for £59 including breakfast. Well worth the price. Spa was nice but avoid times when children using. Would return.
"Good place to stay"
Despite reading some not so good reviews we were pleasantly surprised to find a very large comfortable Executive room. We didn't always get 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels when we returned from a day out but it was quickly resolved by asking for them no problem at all. Big free car park, close to city centre Nice restaurant, with very friendly, polite, professional staff - Evlynn, Dean and Kelly. Yes there is limited choice on the menu due to problems with deliveries, but what was served was good, hot and tasty. Great breakfast buffet, good selection Swimming pool was also lovely
"Massively let down by the service"
We booked in July by spa breaks and had a 2 night stay with breakfast dinner and tea included plus a massage each. The package itself was fantastic and the amenities were lovely, we had a three course evening meal each night which was a nice surprise and included in our price. What let it down massively however was the service, it was put bluntly absolutely appalling. On our first night I witnessed a waitress arguing with someone because she brought him the wrong meal and he was allergic to mushrooms, she was rolling her eyes at him and talking down to him, very immature behaviour. We had to wait a very long time between main and dessert and asked for our dessert three times with no success. We ended up leaving and missed out on the dessert on the first night as it was 9:30 by this point and we were tired and just so angry about the service. My partner asked a waitress for a jug of water and this waitress looked at him like he was dirt and acted like he had majorly inconvenienced her. The staff need a lot of training as they cannot seem to cope with anything put to them, and service really does make or break your stay. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were great and the massage I had was very nice and relaxing, I would recommend. The lovely guy behind the reception desk was so lovely and couldn't be more helpful, but the service of this hotel really let it down overall.
"A little disappointed"
The hotel rooms need modernising. Was disappointed with the room as I booked an executive double which is not really any different from the standard double. The leisure facility was good - I enjoyed it. Dinner was awful..we only ate there on the first night. The stat itself was pleasant.
"A great value deal"
We booked a deal through Groupon and used this hotel as a base for a Cotswold visit. Although the hotels location is in a built up area once inside we were pleased with the decision. The room was spacious and clean, quite warm however a fan was provided. The dinner was lovely although service a little slow. Breakfast, good variety albeit not very hot. Spa was great, just make sure to go after the children session has finished. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Make sure to visit Gloucester Docks and the cathedral. Give Bourton a miss but definitely go to Bibury and Castle Coombe. Would stay again !
"Enjoyable overnight stay with dinner and breakfast"
Our welcome was warm and a very speedy booking in experience with thorough information. Our room was 107 which had a small table and 2 comfy chairs. It was a standard room but very spacious with a view to the front of the hotel on the ground floor. Lovely and clean with a powerful shower over the bath. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was clean and fresh. A fan was provided already in the room. The staff were all very polite and friendly. We found the efficiency from Kasey bar staff was exemplary when asked for a couple of things. Usually when being told a staff member will be there in a minute in hospitality it doesn't mean that! Kasey on the other hand speedily sorted out 2 things for us within a minute each time. Lovely friendly smiling attitude from her. The other member of staff to be noted is the gentleman working in the restaurant and bar area who has worked there for 6 years. Welcoming friendly attitude. Apologies for not noting his name but he had a good rapport with my husband and made the experience very pleasant overall in the bar area. The dining experience was good despite a very limited dinner menu but what we had was hot and very good. The service was efficient and again friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Great variety and well presented buffet. Again staff very friendly. We stayed on a voucher but will return again as our stay was so enjoyable. We wish the hotel prosperity as they are certainly doing their best for the customer.
"Trip to the Cotswolds"
Disappointing stay even though I had been to the hotel two years ago. Breakfast wasn't very hot. Dinner was not good and we had to wait a long time to be served. Poor service. Seemed a lack of staff and they were untrained.
"Not up to expectations"
On the plus side the staff were all polite, friendly, efficient and hardworking including the restaurant, spa and reception staff. One member of the reception team named Shanoi was particularly outstanding. The room was adequate in size but a little outdated although the bed was comfortable. Sorry to say we had no room service for the whole 3 days of our stay, we had to request clean towels at reception. We we were not over impressed with the dinner menu, which was repeated every evening. Most of the choices were pub style. There were no steaks or fish dishes offered except fish and chips where the fish was discoloured and tasteless. It seems that the whole menu needs to be changed and a larger variety offered. Nevertheless, we give full marks for the buffet style breakfast dishes with very polite and friendly staff. We also appreciate that Covid must have had an overall effect and we are sure the hotel could be greatly improved.
"Coach trip to the Cotswolds"
Our very first coach trip, so a lot to take in.....we were a party of 17, on a 4 night tour, booking in we were given a menu to decide on our evening meal, then given our room keys, unfortunateley some rooms were not ready, luckily ours were. some were given keys to find the room not ready. I had rang the hotel the previous week to ask for a bath mat, not in the room on arrival and this took 3 requests. After our first day we retuened to our to find it had not been made up, reception advised we had to hang the tag on the door and the room would be made up, we were also advised this would be on our welcome letter(still waiting for the welcome letter)!! Rooms petite, and very warm, the reception/dinning areas have aircon, not so in the rooms, though fans are available on request, luckily it was not overly warm on our stay. We were given a menu every morning, choice of starter/main/sweet, on thre first evening my husbands main meal was forgotten about, we had finished before he got his, he was offered a free drink, the food was very good, good job as the hotel is on a housing estate. Breakfast was buffet style and good, the only comment i would make was that on the first, day the tea bags were sealed single packets, but after that they were in a jar, which surprised us as we still have Covid around!! There was hand gel in the main bar/reception/dinning room, but not in the corridoors. All in all not a bad hotel, with a few tweaks required to the house keeping....Staff were friendly....
"A pleasant stay, just a few touches would make it better"
The team are really friendly, parking is free / on site and easy. We had a quiet comfortable nights sleep. Couple of things could do with updating - the sign scratched out on entrance that used to say hallmark and a bit of TLC in the room would make it a better stay. Found it strange to have one towel between two people for a double room and that the windows were left wide open on entering. The spa facilities are well monitored and the team were brilliant at finding a quieter time to suit us.
"Great stay"
We booked with vouchers and had great stay. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Diner menu was limited but very tasty. Swimming Pool opening time was limited during the weekend. No lift service available but luckily a manager in grey suit at reception helped us to take luggages to our room. Overall we had great stay and will be coming back.
"Would not recommend!"
My partner and I stayed here for two nights after buying a weekend getaway deal from Wowcher. The deal consisted of two nights with one three course meal and a bottle of wine. When arriving, staff were not organised and seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. They had us down for B and B even when I showed them the confirmation email on my phone. Anyway, we went to the room and it was very basic, but clean and tidy. However, when we went down for our evening meal, which we were really excited about, our starter was okay but nothing like expected. Following that, I ordered a pizza for my main as there wasn't much of a choice on the menu. So when it finally arrived it was a frozen Chicago pizza! I was mortified that the restaurant were trying to charge £15 for a cheap supermarket pizza! The poor boys sat beside us came to the hotel just for a meal and were also disgusted at the food that they had ordered and left after having their starters. The other main meal was okay but again was cheap frozen food. After this we chose our puddings- ice cream and cheesecake. The puddings were brought to us 45 minutes after ordering and the cheesecake was still frozen!! A waitress working in the restaurant looked embarrassed when we were trying to eat our ‘lovely' three course meal. Luckily, we didn't have to pay due to us buying the voucher which included the food but if this wasn't the case, we certainly would not pay for the food we were given. Ruined our weekend and will not be returning to this hotel unless it's improved dramatically.
"Good value"
We had a great stay - nice hotel for the money. Cooked breakfast, comfy rooms, great leisure facilities and lovely staff (except one abrupt, rude & unhelpful female staff member at check in!). Tip- you have to tell them if you want your room cleaned. No water, fridge in the rooms.
"Regret coming here"
Came here as I was given a virgin experience day gift for a night, 3 course dinner and 2 spa treatments. Spa was OK. The dinner was awful. I emailed weeks in advance to state my dietary requirements to be halal. Arrived at hotel and the menu the staff member gave me was totally different to the one they had. Anyway they advised the chicken burger is halal so I ordered that. Took 1 hour for food to arrive and I find they have put bacon in the burger even though I had stated my dietary requirements and the menu did not even state the burger containing bacon. Complained to manager but she did not seem interested. At that stage we left just left the restaurant and went outside to eat. The hotel is located right next to residential area and the hotel floor we were at smelled of cannabis in the evening. Anyway not going to be returning again.
"Relaxing Break"
We have stayed here before when it was a Hallmark Hotel so we knew what to expect. Yes it is not in a very lovely position and from the outside doesn't look very appealing. However our bedroom was a good size with a comfortable bed and was clean. The bedrooms definitely could do with some attention though. We were there during the very hot spell and with no air conditioning and a window only opening a small amount, we did struggle to sleep and relax in the room. We did manage to get a fan, but it really didn't help much. Also a fridge and safe would be very welcome editions to the room. We only had one coat hanger in our room but got more after asking at reception. Emma at reception was very friendly and helpful. She always seemed to be running around doing things. We weren't that impressed with the breakfast, there didn't seem to be much choice with the continental options. We did have one evening meal and really enjoyed the nachos for starters but not so keen on the fish and chips. Bar area is nice and relaxing but not always someone available to serve behind the bar. We enjoyed using the swimming pool, but could have been a cooler temperature due to how hot it was. I also had a facial and leg/foot massage from Mariana, highly recommended. She was so good and I felt totally relaxed afterwards. Good location for visiting Gloucester Docks/Shops. We would return but would be nice if hotel could have some upgrading
"Emma & Jamie"
When arriving there was a few difficulties regarding my stay, but Emma at the reception was very helpful and patient and sorted it in very little time, also Jamie was very lovely, bubbly and friendly. Amazing service!! They deserve recognition for their hard work and service that they provide to their guests!
"Fabulous food and service .Lovely spa and pool ."
After reading other reviews we were a little apprehensive but we were very happy with our stay. The rooms were spotless ,as were all areas. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were very pleased with our meal and pool visit. The only thing we were disappointed with was the vegan option for starter and main even after I had specified before hand and was told there would be options. It looks like it has had a recent refurbishment and the reception and restaurant had air conditioning .We stayed on one of the hottest nights so the rooms were very hot but we were offered a change of rooms .Thank you.
"Avoid at all costs !"
This is by far the most disgusting hotel room I have ever stepped foot it, rooms were outdated and run down, unlike photos on website to which we were later told were “new updated rooms, you have an older room” which were both the same price ! We had planned to stay for two nights and booked a “suite room”. Which had stained carpets and sofas and dirty curtains, rusty bathroom and dirty towels and a scratched table. This room was priced at £300 for two nights which is an insult. Safe to say we stepped in and stepped right back out ! Avoid at all costs
"Bad service!"
Our stay was nice with good facilities however apart from the guy at reception and the staff in the leisure area I thought the staff were unpleasant, especially the bar staff. I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience when I asked for something even though it's part of there job. For example I had no cutlery on my table during breakfast and bewtween 4 waitresses together they couldn't decide who would help me out. It wasn't until 5 mins later I received them but by that time my breakfast was colder. I then asked for a jug of water and the look I got was if to imply that I've asked her to drive to Scotland to get it. I witnessed this same waitress being rude to a guest on our first evening meal. Whereby she argued with the guest and stormed off because she got the order wrong. In my opinion I believe someone needs to take control in the restaurant area perhaps someone who is a little older and more experienced. I feel most of there staff walk around 1mph dragging there feet and once there is something to do they hide in the kitchen. Our first night which included a 3 course meal was also a nightmare for service because it took so long for each course to come out. We gave up on dessert after asking 3 times for it and waiting over an hour we were also promised it was on it's way but our dessert was never served to us. This really was a shame because we couldn't fault the standard of the food. I feel with the facilities they have and how good the food is this hotel could be so much better if they improve some of there staff and they updated the rooms.
"Very tired with dirty carpets"
Food was good but surroundings tired and grubby.Room not cleaned even when we requested it.We we're given a paper cup each to last 3 nights to make hot drinks s in.Pool was good and was the best thing about Thule hotel
"Anniversary weekend"
First impressions were not that great about the hotel looks like a lodging from Outside in the middle of a housing estate. The receptionist was bubbly and very welcoming. Staff were amazing. They looked after us and our 20month old. Rooms however lacked cleanliness. We did tell the reception the table tops were very dusty and walls had cobwebs. They said they'll look into into but no one came. Luckily we carried our own wipes and cleaned the surfaces. We had a tiny fan in the room with no ac. Best western if you are running low on money please borrow from the bank! During COVID government grants have been provided kindly make use of it wisely and upgrade the rooms. We had a deluxe room with only towel! No bathrobes. After asking for both we only got towels. We did request a fresh set the following day and our room to be cleaned. Reception said yes don't worry we'll get it done. Nothing was done which we expected as they did not clean our room on the first day when we pointed out the dirty surfaces. No fridge! Seriously this hotel needs extreme makeover. Can understand due to COVID there are no fridges being provided. But there was no place either in the room where a fridge could be out either. No charging points near the bedside! I have to cheaper hotels they have these basic points put. Near the bedside and AC as well. Food was not the best nor the worst. First night dinner was ok. When you are hungry everything tastes nice. Breakfast was ok. However I've had better. It's chef dependent. When their chef runs the kitchen and bar you can imagine the quality control! What I wasn't impressed was their dinner menu is the same through out the week. Being vegetarian and only a vegan burger available for 3 nights - the staff did try ask the chef if they can make something for us - response was what see on the menu is what you'll get they can't make anything for us. We had no choice. But go out at 9pm to look for a restaurant. Didn't bother complaining as I gathered they were ignoring complaints. The higher was the only one in the entire hotel. Which doesn't get cleaned used it on the first day. Left a ketchup mark to see if it get cleaned. Next day the dried ketchup was still there . Whoever used the chair prior to us - either didn't care or were just as ignorant. Children only allowed in the pool for 2 hrs on a weekend! You can't be serious! Rather not allow them at all! Weekdays they are allowed all day till 6pm - doesn't make sense. But every hotel to their own rules. Food 3/10 Service 9/10 Cleanliness 1/10 Staff 9/10 Reception 3/10 If you do book this hotel post COVID please ensure you get the room cleaned and checked before settling in. @ Best Western please employ good quality control personnel. It was our anniversary weekend we tried to make the best from the worst. It worked out for us. Will I return back - maybe once they've renovated and employed an experience skill full chef who can accommodate all and be able to serve the menu. Apologies we made a few friends cancel their booking to this hotel, suggested they go to the premier inn a bit further down - it is much cleaner and has ac!
"Wedding night stay"
My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night. Staff were amazing and looked after us well thank you for the brilliant service The amenities at the hotel met our needs. The bar and restaurant were lovely too.
"Don't book it - scam!"
Another bad news story I'm afraid (not uncommon for this hotel). I had a hotel reservation in this hotel which I booked and paid for through a Wowcher deal over 3 months cancelled with only two days notice. I received only a brief emailed and very woolly message stating that our reservation was being cancelled 'due to power supply issues' and 'apologising for any inconvenience caused'. There was no further explanation of any kind nor did I learn anything more when I subsequently contacted the hotel direct - customer service entirely lacking! Somewhat suspiciously the hotel was otherwise apparently fully booked implying that the issue, whatever it was, was not affecting other reservations. The long weekend break was meant as a surprise birthday present for my partner and whilst he did not know the destination, we had both booked 3 day's leave. Disappointment was the mild word to express our feelings, especially given all the hardships of the last year; I was looking forward to that time away for our family. To compound the situation we were also out of pocket for 2 day's childcare for which we were bound by contract and also for pre-paid package tickets I purchased for local tourist attractions. With only two day's notice, there were no affordable alternative options for us as all local hostelries were fully booked. I don't think Wowcher or Best Western have any idea or even care how much inconvenience this caused us. Don't get me wrong I am annoyed with Wowcher and Best Western in equal measure as this deal mutually agreed by them both has not been honoured and their response to my enquiries been entirely inadequate. I can't help feeling that we've been treated as a second class customer for having booked this deal through Wowcher. I made the reservation in good faith and paid for it upfront. For all I know, Best Western may be using Wowcher as an agent to fill its rooms at a time when the visitor season wasn't looking very favourable and then, later on, double booking rooms when they could charge more for them before cancelling original and less lucrative reservations. At best I feel this is very poor service from both agents without any genuine attempt to make amends and at worst dishonest and perhaps of questionable legality. Please learn from my lesson and steer well clear!

"The worst Hotel I've stayed in."
Room very dirty cobwebs hanging from celling stayed 5 nights toilet never cleaned no toilet brush in bathroom light fitting hanging out of celling. Bath very chipped. bed linen never changed although it said it would be hanged every 3 nights. This was one of their upgraded rooms. God nows what the others were like?

"Steve Searles Golf Weekend . Golf Breaks."
Our fourth visit to this hotel as part of yearly visit to Gloucester golf club. Unfortunately on this occasion not so good. We arrived after our golf at 6pm to told there was no evening meal, because of a gas leak?. The receptionist asked if we had received a message, which we hadn't. They paid for a return taxi to Gloucester Keys, but unfortunately we couldn't get in anywhere. Luckily we returned to the golf club and they looked after us. On our departure the receptionist said we would be refunded for the missed meals, and that someone would phone me on Monday. Well it's now Wednesday evening and I've heard nothing. Rooms ok, staff good, breakfast good.

"Very basic, not 4 star"
Arrived with GBtours on July 4th and took ages to book our coachload in with only one member of staff on reception. Room was very dated and basic, paint peeling off the inside windowsills, no phone, no clock beside the bed. It was clean though, thankfully. Food at our evening meal for the main course was very lukewarm, should have been served with hot plates but food was served on stone cold plates. Starter and dessert were delicious though. At breakfast the guy who booked us in was the only one serving breakfast, which again was lukewarm. Maybe they are short staffed , I don't know. All the staff were pleasant and very friendly. Needs an update to get 4 star reviews and food needs to be served at the correct temperature.

"Brilliant Stay"
Was a bit weary seeing some of the Tripadvisor reviews before staying, but we were very pleased with our short break. The facilities were fantastic for the price (we booked through Groupon) - pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and gym all included in the price. The breakfast was also good - full English, with toast and cereal also available as well as tea/coffee and orange/apple juice. Room was spacious and staff were nice and friendly.

"Lovely stay"
My partner and I visited on a wowcher deal. Having read the reviews just before travelling, we were a bit worried but were very pleasantly surprised! The staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful, going out of there way on a number of occasions! We enjoyed time in the pool area and an evening in the hotel bar which had a lovely atmosphere. We only had breakfast there so can't comment on any other food but the full english was tasty!

"Good stay"
Friendly staff , fast check in (Emma) had to ask names though as no name badges. Clean room , plenty of space and quiet. Good setting , could maybe make more of grounds as a bit untidy. My only issue was the restaurant , which was slow and short of staff.

"Ruth Lambert"
Awful place to have a cream tea...they said there was not a booking even though i had rang them 3 times in the week before to add another few friends, nothing was ready, it was discusting...9 of my friends went on the 22nd June to The Robinswood Hotel Gloucester(Best Western) for 2 birthdays, absolutely nothing ready, took ages to have soggy sandwiches and Mr Kipling cakes(yes Mr Kipling from a box), nothing was laid out for cream teas like it should be,not even 9 scones(probably because there is 4 in a packet)teapot lids were broken,we had to ask for milk, napkins, knives, cream&jam( cups were dirty and stained which we were told does not come off( well throw them out)waited ages for everything..I thought cream teas from a hotel would be of a high standard, how wrong was that, and looking on the hotel reviews its not good...they state its free parking yet 4 of us managed to get a parking ticket we told reception the machine was broken and they knew this so why on earth did the send these fines out...we rang the hotel and they have since taken of the £100 fine each, one person was worried and paid it straight away, i have now taken up with the company and am waiting to hear from them to get this persons money refunded...£60 if you pay early! I or my friends would never go there again and would think twice if anyone would want to visit this hotel...The waitress was run of her feet and we guess she had to do everything..the so say girl manager on reception was not at all helpful, and we were told ALL the managers were in meetings on this day when we asked to speak to someone higher..,The waitress came back and told us we dident have to pay for the shoddy tea that wasent worth £5 let alone £14.95.
"Worst hotel in a long time"
The signs were there from the beginning when I went to book in. Stayed here for a week with work, about 3 weeks ago. On arrival, early Sunday evening (about 7pm) there was no one at the reception desk. After waiting for 10 minutes, I had to scout around the hotel to find a member of staff. I finally located someone in the restaurant who stated the receptionist was helping in the kitchen as they were so busy! The receptionist (who was very apologetic and not his fault) finally booked me in. On entering my room, I took literally 15 seconds before I did an about turn back to reception. The reason being the room was at the end of a corridor where the fire exit was open and people were just walking in and out of, and therefore no security. The window was so dirty, the outside was about 50% visible. It clearly had not been cleaned in some time. I was immediately changed to another room which in all honesty was a little better but still with the same dirty windows. The room was actually ok, clean and a fair size. The wifi was ok and worked in a room that was some distance from the main reception which was good. That said, the room was not serviced the whole week. Nothing, not even toilet rolls topped up. I was told it was for covid reasons why someone could not enter the room. I'm sorry, but when waitresses and waiters can approach you at a table in the restaurant many times and walking around everyone, why can't someone pop into a room with washed hands to check on the basics? I just think this was an excuse not to clean and save money. I used the gym a few times in the week. For free with the hotel, it was ok but is used by locals and the clientele were not bothered about covid safety or taking over the whole gym with their buddies. The pool, sauna and steam room were in use and working correctly which was nice after my days at work. The restaurant I used 3 times. The other times I eat out. If it were not for the fact I was so tired on those days eating in, I would have eaten out. Why? The food was shockingly bad. First night I ordered the fish and chips. I waited nearly 45-60 minutes which in fairness was ok as they had a coach load of guests in. What was not so good was that the fish was dry and hard. Frozen fish at its best. I've bought a better tasting fish from Lidl! And at around £13-15 for an average main, I would expect a bit more than a fish the size of an average fish finger, twice cooked but hard (and some green/ black) chips and a portion of peas befit for a small rabbit. I could count the number of peas...they would have been better off saying they had run out. The other nights I had the curry as they couldn't mess that up. Weirdly on the second occasion they did..by forgetting the dish of mango. The amount of chicken in the dish for £14 approx was not good. That night I could not get in the restaurant as already fully booked up (the hotel never advised me that if I did not book in the morning/day before - you will not get in the restaurant - would have been nice to have that info) so I eat in the bar area. I did mention to the bar staff male that it was missing mango and he said he would get some...though after he finished watching the football on the tv in the bar area! About 10 minutes later the small bowl of mango arrived. Don't ask for the wine list. There isn't one. I found out the reason why. After ordering a Rioja which was just ok, I then ordered a glass of merlot which was very poor. At £8.50 a glass (as I found out on the bill afterwards!) I think this was a classic rip off. Breakfast. What a joke. As others have commented. You have the choice of a full English or cereal. I did get away on a couple of mornings asking for a poached egg on toast but it became a little joke for me as the order always came back wrong, either the amount I asked for or the brown bread came back white. I was told on one morning that they only had white bread. I mean really... a hotel of this size and they cannot plan to have 2 choices of bread for breakfast. The classic was on my last morning in the hotel and I was in a great mood as I was leaving that day. That morning the restaurant was busy (another coach load of OAP guests had arrived the night before) so when seated and asked what I wanted (cereal or a full breakfast!) I said for quickness can I just have 2 slices of toast. I actually said to the waitress 'I am in a rush. If I just go for 2 pieces of toast as I need to be quick'' Order taken. 30 minutes later, still no toast and trying to get the waitress attention, who is running around dealing with other extremely annoyed guests waiting for their breakfasts, who I now realise ordered before me, I just get up and leave as cannot wait any longer. Even when I got to the reception desk to leave, there was confusion by the staff member as to the credit card on file to pay for my account. It was there on the Sunday night so why they had mislaid those details on the system I do not know, but she eventually found it. It took her another 10 minutes to get my hotel bill printed as she was unsure why I wanted to check it? I mean really..do you think I am going to sign a £470 bill without checking it is correct. Luckily it was (well except for the breakfast they had charged me for where I had just walked out on!) but hey, this was turning out to be so funny, in the end I just wanted to leave. Bizarrely I was not asked by the receptionist if I had had a nice stay. I wonder if they are trained not to ask that for fear of what might come in reply? The place is a disgrace. I have to return to work in Gloucester in the future and even if this place was offered for free, I would happily pay to go somewhere else. It clearly stays afloat by agreements with travel coaches of unknowing tourists who probably have had no say in staying there and if they had a choice, probably would not. Honestly, spend your money elsewhere.
"What a nightmare avoid at all costs"
Stayed for a 4 nights bed breakfast and evening meal , on a coach trip 32 people including the driver not once did everyone get served a) the meal they ordered , even though we were all given a form to pre order, b ) served a meal without it being late 15/ 30 minutes wait for some people , Staff useless absolutely no customer service training. Next coach trip I go on if it says it's staying at this hotel I think I'd give it a miss
"Never again"
Visited on 22nd June to celebrate a special birthday with morning cream tea's. No one expected us and had not planned ahead to make sandwiches let alone cakes, it took an hour before we had any food and when it came the sandwiches were soggy, clearly had just been knocked up in the kitchen in a rush. After complaining they agreed not to charge for them but this does not compensate for what was supposed to be a special celebration. Then today I received a parking charge from Parking Eye for £60 the company who manages the hotel car park, no mention of this by the staff and even state Free Parking on the website, disgraceful.
"Awful "
Front desk lady ignored us when we first arrived, room keys didn't work so we had to go back to reception and ask for more, we were not once asked to do the NHS track and trace during our stay, room was dirty, walls are thin to the point we could hear someone else alarm, beds were not made properly, large amount of spiders in the room, no air conditioning, dinner was a shambles, I ordered mac and cheese- it was cold and instead of garlic bread as I side i was given a garlic naan, dessert (a slice of cake) took 45 minutes to arrive, no one checked to see if the food was okay, at breakfast the next day only offered a full English or Cereal, no meat or dairy free alternatives.. its 2021 even wetherpoons does a better breakfast there is literally no excuse Overall this is the worst hotel experience I've ever had That being said I couldn't fault the spa ladies, 10/10 for the massage, just a shame the rest of the hotel couldn't live up to their standards
"Train your restaurant staff!"
This is my 2nd visit to this hotel and I must say the standard of service has reduced dramatically. We had two rooms booked, one had the radiator on full blast when it was 24 degrees outside. The heat was so unbearable we had to change rooms with my kids at 11pm at night Breakfast was extremely disappointing, cooked breakfast or a cooked breakfast! no fruit, no yogurts and one choice of cereal which was Rice Krispies! The staff team although pleasant enough could really do with some basic serving skills. Ask those at the table if they'd like a drink, explain what's included in the cooked breakfast, bring toast when requested and with at least enough butter for each slice of toast! Bring hot drinks when requested! And with no ketchup available for the cooked breakfast we ended up buying our own for our 2nd morning! Not great. Our two day stay continued like this with endless irritations of poor service. For a 4 star hotel, these things are pretty basic. When we checked out there was no chat from the receptionist asking whether we enjoyed our stay, or even have a nice day etc. just took my room card and said that's fine. Disappointing. As a regular visitor to Gloucester we won't be back staying here. Shame, as it wouldn't take much to sort these things out.
"Good for stay but don't bother with restaurant"
Me and my partner stayed for a quick overnight getaway, check in was quick and easy and the lady behind the desk was friendly and very helpful. Overall the hotel itself was OK, room was reasonable other than the remake of Disney Pixar's ‘ A bugs life ‘ taking place within the window frame and surrounding area to the window. The window area was extremely dirty and let down the rest of the room which was overall very clean. We made use of the pool and spa which again was clean. The receptionist within the spa area clearly was having a bad day when I asked for instructions on using the pool ( location of changing rooms etc ) We decided to eat in the restaurant that evening, and the food was again reasonable. Service was disappointing however having to ask twice and wait half an hour for the bill. Slightly over priced as well charging £14.50 for what was advertised as a ‘Chicago town pizza'. I had fish and chips my partner had pie, both of which were enjoyable although could have been slightly better portioned. Had a good night sleep with no issues. Breakfast in the morning was not great, was asked if we wanted a full English and toast to which we both said yes. Breakfast turned up and my partner had some items missing, also no sign of the toast. Food was also cold despite the plates appearing to have been in the oven for hours before ! They were roasting ! . Overall hotel is ok for short stay and if your not eating but definitely would not recommend restaurants for both dinner and breakfast.
"Mr G"
Had a booked a overnight stay and spa treatment this weekend. Room was ok,staff friendly and nice food. Only let down was the free porn show by two lesbians using the swimming pool. They practically used every corner of the pool to more or less have public sex. It made everyone feel very uneasy and could tell they were doing it just to be attention seekers. There were children using this pool at the time so God knows what thier parents thought. The guy from reception did tell them to stop but they just moved to the sauna and came back out with hand prints all over thier backsides. Not a good look on themselves or the hotel. Would visit again but beware of the two freaks feeling the need to express Ess themselves. I am sure there are establishments where they could do this without being a public embarrassment
"Under staffed fully booked"
I booked a long weekend here as a cheap break, booked through secret escapes. I was unable to get through by phone to book any meals so I emailed and received a quick response. I have got to say the staff are lovely and friendly but if you are eating here the menu is very restricted, pretty much all micro food and be prepared to wait an hour for you starter as the staff are rushed of there feet( only 8 staff and fully booked hotel) you need to be prepared to be around 2 hrs in the evening for your meal. Georgia on reception is a star as is the barman. The staff are working extremely hard but as a visitor it is a little frustrating as it feels like disorganised chaos. The soup is lovely and the hunters chicken burger is good, the pizzas are Chicago town ones and come on their own, no chips or salad, my husbands was soggy and under cooked. Beds are extremely comfy. I would come again but probably not til after covid
"amazing massage in the spa ✨"
Treated myself to a massage after a long few months at work and Mariana looked after my needs really well, and spent time getting rid of all the knots in my back. I felt really relaxed afterwards and would recommend the spa/wellness area of the hotel.
"Didn't stay"
We had booked, through Secret Escapes, to stay at this hotel at the end of the month. Looking on TripAdvisor for something else I looked up this hotel out of curiosity. I was perturbed at the number of complaints about the food especially with it's rigidity and quality and the failure to correct complaints so I telephoned them and selected option 4. No one was available so I left a message to call me back. I repeated my telephone number twice to ensure no mistakes. Now, some thirty hours later, no return call. As it was a few days away for our wedding anniversary I could not take a chance and have cancelled. It just confirms what other people had said.
"Poor at best - it needs a complete refurb and better management"
This was booked as a Groupon deal and was awful, located in the middle of a housing estate with bars at the window and no view. There were so many stairs, (not good with a disabled husband), the receptionist could not initially locate our booking, our room was very basic with no phone to contact reception when we needed to so I had to walk all the way back up, bath was chipped and worn. The Leisure Centre/pool was a joke. No receptionist to book anyone in and out - people were just wandering in & out unchecked with no adherence to Covid rules. We had been looking forward to using the pool but ended up giving it a miss. Dinner was OK but some staff members were without masks. Our wine was already opened when it came to the table so I asked for it to be replaced. Avoid!
"Lovely stay"
Very nice hotel. Was very worried when reading the reviews but couldn't really fault it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only slight negative and this is not there fault is the breakfast is fry up and cereal only but this is due to the covid restrictions. Food was nice and hot but not the quality you would expect for a 4*. It felt like there produce was bought in from Aldi!. But it was part of our deal and was nice on the other hand. Wouldn't recommend eating here unless it's part of your deal. But don't fret if it is. Spa and pool facilities are superb!
"I enjoyed the swimming pool and spa"
The room overlooked the hotel courtyard, and people's gardens. It was above the swimming pool so had the extractor humming loudly all night. The room wasn't that clean, for example there were dust and hairs on the mirror and the bathroom wasn't up to standard considering we are still in a global pandemic. The room was also extremely hot and the radiators were on high. The evening meal was average but not what I would expect for the prices. Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of sleep as the fire alarm went off in our room at 3am. It stopped so we thought it may have been a fault but there were no staff around to ask. It then went off again at 5am. At 7.30 am we were woken by music and staff talking loudly and smoking outside our room in the courtyard. We got up and decided to make a coffee with the sachets provided but I had to throw mine away as the milk was off. when I checked the date, it had expired in July 2020! I spoke to the person at reception about the fire alarm when checking out. He told me he had been woken up too (not helpful) and only some of the rooms had been affected. He apologised but I didn't feel it was sincere.
"Very Pleasant Stay."
Stayed with friends for three days on a BB/EM deal. .Very good under the Covid restrictions. Clean. Very pleasant staff. who are helpful and do their best under the circumstances. Rooms clean, tidy and spacious. Large beds but pillows hard. Food pretty basic fayre, but perfectly adequate and good enough. (Pizzas very big, but tasty.) Good location base for Cotswolds. Taxi service very good.
"Night Away"
Well, on arrival, we checked in and went to our room. The bin had not been emptied and there was no cups for the tea and coffee. We went back to reception who then kindly changed our room right away. Please also note, the hotel specifies 24hr room service but this cannot be done over the phone as there was no phone in the room. I bought a deal on Groupon where you also get a 3 course meal each.. firstly, online you can not find a menu but it does however state 'juicy steak', 'classic sticky toffee pudding' - none of which was an option on the menu. I ordered soup for starter, which I am convinced was from a heinz tin and not even a full one lol. For main I ordered a pizza and when it came out, me and my partner agreed the pizza looked like a Chicargo Town Pizza from the frozen section in supermarkets. It turned out I couldn't finish the pizza and I asked the server whether it would be possible to take it away. Behold, she returns with a takeaway Chicargo Town pizza box!! - I found this very amusing but one of these pizza's in the shop is less than £4.00... these were on the menu at over £15.00. The lady on the table next to us ordered fish and chips and had to send this back to the kitchen as it was stringy and not possible to cut through with a knife and fork. We didn't bother going to breakfast, If you are thinking of visiting, I would also advise taking your own booze as a Corona was £4.40. Other than that, the pool was nice (does not look as fancy as the pictures) they have used a filter to mask the age of the place. The carpets in the room were aged and stained with black marks. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
"Honeymoon for 1 night"
Stayed here for 1 night on our way to our honeymoon venue. We were treated like King and Queen during our stay. We could not fault the hotel nor any staff and had a perfect dinner plus breakfasted with coving restrictions. Would we stay here again... definitely. Thank you Best Western 5*
"worst restaurant ever"
The front desk staff were lovely. The pool was great but the temperature was so hot we actually couldn't swim in it. The room we had was actually really nice. The hotel was so hot they need to turn the heaters off. It was a 21 degree day and the heaters were all on. The restaurant was a nightmare. Way over priced for very cheap food. A basic sandwich is 8 pounds. My dinner wasn't fully cooked. And the morning breakfast was a disaster- staff didn't show up and there was one poor man serving about 20 tables. It took an hour and a half to receive breakfast and it wasn't fully cooked. They really need to make it a buffet breakfast which would resolve staff issues. If you stay don't eat at the restaurant.
"Top Service!"
Checking in was a pleasure. We were greeted by a lovely staff member who sorted us out. We got access to the room straight away and also was told everything we needed to know. When visiting the bar We appreciated the cozy feel of the place and was satisfied with this being the first in a long time. Most importantly it was clean. The pool facilities were great! With COVID still in play the staff members made the stay as comfortable as possible, which for me is everything!
"Dreadful - dates hotel and very noisy"
On arrival we were greeted really warmly it's only when we got to the room everything went downhill to the extent we cut short our stay as we could not face another sleepless night. The floorboards are so creaky you cannot move with making a sound and this was the same for the room next door - we heard every footstep , well past midnight as well, and the walls are so paper thin I had no reason to have our television on as theirs could be heard clearly, along with their yapping dog. I must not forget the dustbin tango outside our bedroom which lasted 20 mins as well. I know bins have to be emptied but at 10:30 at night. Finally the plumbing, I have no idea whatever what was causing the racket but the noise was very loud. All in all a dreadful sleepless nightd. we are so disappointed as it was our first hotel stay for over a year. And in case you are thinking, yes we did report this about 11:30 to reception but nothing changed.
"Mr Lewis"
I had an amazing time stay with this hotel. The staff is great with outstanding customer service, we were given all the details needed. The rooms are cleaned and the bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend.
"Ok, the actual Hotel itself is a bit dated and things could be better but the team are worth the five stars!"
Some critical reviews have been written but if you take a slightly different slant on things you may feel, like me, they were a little harsh. We all know the staff are the driving force behind any companies' success with hospitality especially vulnerable to a poor team member and their actions. The way we were handled straight off by the front of house, desk staff was typical of every member of staff with whom we interacted. Be they cleaners, front of house, bar/waiting or in the leisure complex. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough, despite working under difficult circumstances by being forced to have a reduced team, due to covid. Everybody pitched in everywhere, to deal with what was a fairly heavily booked up hotel. Yes, as a customer we are at risk from covid, but surely for a staff member that risk is multiplied simply due to the daily influx of new potential virus bringers. Despite that, the fact we had chosen to stay there was recognised and appeared to be genuinely appreciated by all. I hope the management does not let the situation slide by exploiting the team and load more onto an already heavy load. From what we saw and experienced, the team were dealing with a tricky situation and deserve support from their management and dare I say it? A little more understanding from the customers. Regrettably we witnessed some demanding immediate attention with total lack of understanding as to what the hard working team were achieving in very demanding conditions.
"Family stop over"
Nice enough hotel. Very under staffed. The staff they did have were very pleasant and hard working. The restaurant was very disappointing. Very very poor menu. The pool was excellent. Book in advance because of covid
"It started off so good!"
Checking in was a pleasure. We were greeted by a lovely lady who sorted us out on arrival and even gave us early access to our room. She then made us a lovely coffee which we had in the bar. It's fair to say the furniture in the bar area is looking very tired & shabby though. Definitely needs replacing or refurbishing but it was clean. The pool facilities were great, all clean, very well organised and friendly/helpful staff. So first impressions were good but then it came to breakfast the following morning. What a shambles! We were taken to a table and brought tea and was told someone would be back to take our order. One hour later & numerous attempts to get staff to take our order our food finally turned up. It wasn't what we ordered but we were so hungry and fed up we just ate in even though the mushrooms were stone cold. I understand things are different at the moment due to COVID but it really should have been organised/run better. The staff in the restaurant really did not want to help in fact one young girl said she was just there to help her mum. One who I had gone looking for to take our order said she'd be right with me but never did. show up. When she started clearing a table near us I said “did you forget about us” and she just replied this isn't really my department. Another member of staff, when I said we'd been waiting an hour, said I'll tell my manager. The manager never did turn up so when we were leaving the restaurant I went to find her. She was chatting to other guests in the bar area so I waited patiently for her to finish her conversation. Her response to me asking her if she been asked to come and see us her response was “oh yeah someone did mention something about it” Totally unbelievable. I understand things go wrong but surely it's how they are rectified and dealt with that makes the difference to achieving good customer service. I would question whether the manager is up to the job. Clearly her planning/organising/leadership skills are lacking.
"Hotel tired"
The owners of this hotel should be ashamed of reopening it in such a poor state. Windows were filthy, rooms tired and in need of paint, cheap tape stuck to carpets, disgusting breakfast. Bathroom sink it a crack in the sink. Kettle dirty. I could go on but the staff need a massive pay rise. How they work under so much pressure yet still are polite and helpful is amazing. The poor staff having to work in these conditions, receptionist having to double up in Resturant. Gym staff cleaning rooms. Manager doing everything while being so apologetic to everyone complaining. The staff were amazing and should be treated with respect. The hotel needs a complete revamp, staff need a pay rise and more staff to run the hotel. With great staff they deserve good conditions.
"Not covid safe - poor service and food"
We booked this hotel as we had stayed here previously and were really impressed. Sadly it has seriously gone downhill since. Safety- Given the hotel has 4* rating and has been closed for months due to covid, you would expect it to have been thoroughly cleaned ready for reopening. This is definitely not the case and it definitely isn't 4* On the surface it looks covid compliant with floor markings showing one way system and hand sanitizer provided. This is where the measures stop though. Staff members walking though corridor with no mask on Guests were allowed to queue at bar Nobody cleaning tables in the bar area so allowing guests to sit straight at a table which has just been vacated without clearing glasses or wiping tables. Tables in bar area very close to each other General cleanliness- Carpets in reception and stairs filthy Cobwebs in room demonstrates lack of thorough cleaning Milk and coffee in room out of date. Over 10months out of date The windows in the bedroom and in reception were very dirty inside and out Bulb in the bathroom was not working and there was no bath mat, which was supposed to be in the wardrobe, which made stepping out of the shower (which was over the bath) very dangerous and slippery The room looked clean otherwise Restaurant- Restaurant service very poor. Sat for 25mins before being asked whether we wanted a drink. Food was very poor quality, all freezer food warmed up. Desserts were the best part of the meal even though these weren't home made. We were left waiting for over half an hour at the end of our meal, nobody came to clear the table or allow us to pay the bill. Guests we're walking in and out of the restaurant without masks on, going outside to smoke and returning to their table without masks. Also tables of different parties were allowed to mix together We didn't go for the breakfast even though it was included in our room rate because we were not comfortable due to the lack of safety measures. The breakfast was buffet style and given the experience in the restaurant the night before we could imagine it would be carnage so we didn't want to risk it. On a positive note the reception staff were very helpful despite being overstretched and understaffed
"Spring break"
Under the present circumstances the staff were positive and very uplifting, we had a great time and look forward to seeing them again. Fast friendly and efficient, very clean and very welcoming. Let's hope things clear up and business can resume back to normal.
"disappointing stay unfortunately"
We were very surprised that this hotel had a four star rating after our recent stay there. We found it difficult to communicate with the staff . our room was a disappointment and despite having booked four months previously it was sad to note that we had to rearrange the beds in a tight fitting room as soon as we got there. Complaints to the staff were accepted but acted upon like we had personally insulted them. The food in the restaurant (breakfasts) were a tribute to the deep fat dryer , it was all self service, and the grease covered sausages and bacon, with the hash brown coated in what looked like hardened horse hair hardly tempted the taste buds. The hotel bar had a selection of beers which seemed to be missing out the more popular brands. In the corner a dillapidated sofa had its lining torn away in patches. The spa was an experience of immense satisfaction comparatively, and the thought of spending most of the three days in the steam room, (well manicured and very clean) or the excellent pool facilities in preference to an overcrowded sin a called family room was more than tempting at times.
"Amazing spa package"
Booked a 2 night spa break and have to say we were really impressed. It started off badly as we were greeted with a rather rude and abrupt man at reception but everyone else especially the lady who I think may have been Polish was absolutely amazing. The food was surprisingly good, the dinners especially and we didn't manage to have a dessert the second night as we were happy and stuffed! My massage with Raasha was amazing and the wet area is OK although it was quite busy, it's definitely not for the shy as you have to awkwardly walk around in a towel from the changing rooms, past the gym and squash area and the reception to get there. The room was clean and had a good sized bed. Overall I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a spa break in this area!
"Avoid"
All I can say is the photographer for this hotel has done a fantastic job! When you arrive it looks like a hostel from the outside. I'm unsure how this hotel can call themselves a spa because the ‘spa' was basically a local swimming pool. The floor wasn't clean, kids running and screaming and just not what you would expect when you book yourself a spa get away. We were so disappointed we couldn't bring ourselves to eat in the restaurant and went out instead. Rooms are OK but ours was cold and we couldn't find anywhere to heat it up. Every time someone runs a tap in the adjoining room you can hear it too, just not relaxing at all.

Dear Customer, Sorry to hear that our hotel was not to your liking, we are a spa hotel as we have spa facilities plus the leisure facilities including the pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Our poolside is cleaned several times per day and is monitored, however children are allowed in swimming during specific times which are advertised in our establishment. The restaurant serve a range of meals alongside the bar menu, sorry that you felt you needed to eat out. Each of our rooms either have a thermostat which can be turned up or the radiator adjusted, if you stay with us again please do get in touch with reception as they can provide you with an additional heather if you still feel the cold. Kind regards Amy Hallmark hotel, Gloucester
"Very mediocre"
Stayed at the hotel in March. Upon arriaval we walked to our room along a corridor with piles of dirty and clean linen, and dirty room service trays. Not a good first impression! The restaurant food was very mediocre. Our finished dinner plates waited over 30 minutes before being removed - and only we asked staff to do so. The facilities are ok, but its definitely not a hotel for a relaxing spa break.

Dear customer, I apologise that this is what you were greeted by, the housekeeping team clean corridor by corridor which means that during room turn around time there will be laundry and any plates, cups out of dirty rooms ready to be taken to the back of house, i can only imagine you had an early check in to see this. Sometimes there is a wait time in the restaurant but I will follow this feedback up with our team. We do hope to see you in the near future. Kind regards Amy Hallmark hotel, Gloucester
