Worst best Western I have stayed In Room was Dank...no drinking water Very expensive, when I raised the pricing I was told yeh that's just the time of year There was a construction site next door so very noisy Credit card machine did not work

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Bruce, thank you for the review. I am disappointed to hear that your room was dank, please accept our apology. it is our policy to air out the rooms between guests. Bottled water is available at reception and can be delivered to your room if you wish. Front desk staff should have made sure to tell you that. We will refresh housekeeping and front desk training to prevent these issues from occurring again. Our prices are a little higher than usual at the moment, as it is the busy season. This is quite normal across the industry. We regret any inconvenience during your stay due to noise. We hope you will stay with us again, so that we may have a chance to provide a superior experience.

"Old wrapped in new "

I lived in Glebe in the 1990s & had previously recommended The Haven for visitors. The location is excellent & it used to have a pool. So on a work trip to the area I was looking fwd to staying here. The room I had was a corner room, with a large-ish balcony, which was nice but the room itself was pretty cramped & there was an aroma of ‘old' which overthrew attempts to disguise it. That said, the bed was very comfy & service friendly (tho I had to pay for drinking water). It was sufficient for my stay, but I wouldn't rate it higher than 3 stars. Keep expectations for adequacy, not luxury & you'll be happy.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Larissa, thank you for taking the time to review us. We're glad that you liked the bed and balcony, and that service met your expectations. We regret the smell in the room bothered you. This issue is being dealt with presently. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

This is a really great place to go while first travelling to Sydney. It is convenient to go anywhere. It is not that far away from city and it is quiet. It is easy to get to other places since there is a bus stop nearby. It is next to the University of Sydney. The staff there are also very kind, they are willing to help you with anything. It is really a good experience!

"Good value for what we paid"

We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The staff of this hotel are always accommodating and very helpful. Always giving a very good level of services. I thought my room was very clean. Small details like L'Occitane toiletries and well designed teaware were an added bonus. Good value for what we paid

MichaelP10643, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Rajput, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We're always happy to hear that our guests enjoyed their time with us, and that our staff helped to make it better. We hope to see you again in the near future.

"Getting even better with time."

22/10/2018

Travelled as a couple for one night only. We have done this approximately annually for 4 or 5 years, during which time The Haven has gone from strength to strength. Now fully renovated, it was a pleasure to find that the staff, always professional, are also better than I recalled - which was already far above adequate. Something that could be improved? Only very small maintenance suggestions, which we passed to the team as we departed.

"Excellent place to stay in Sydney!"

09/10/2018

This is such a great place to stay on the edge of downtown Sydney, right next to a bus stop to get you straight into town. The room was spacious with tea/coffee facilities, phone, hairdryer, a small fridge, safe, lovely comfortable bed and pillows, big TV, and big shower room with L'Occitane soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, as well as complimentary sewing kit, toothbrushes, razor and shower cap. There is a great cafe straight across the road for breakfast (they also do wonderful lunches and sandwiches) as well a bakery, huge variety of restaurants, bar and many other shops all along the road. We loved this place and will be back again soon. It allows you to see the real Sydney, a real village experience and the hotel staff are so helpful and friendly , nothing is too much trouble. We definitely recommend this hotel!

"Comfortable overnight stay."

08/10/2018

Firstly and importantly the staff were without exception really friendly and helpful. The area is great, cafes shops etc, & interesting houses all around with a great walk down to and along the waterfront. Our room seemed a little dark and austere, the balcony looked out on a dismal wall, (how about a graffiti commission there !) However the bed was comfortable and it was fine for an overnight stay.

"Mediocre at best. And so noisy."

28/09/2018

First of all, this is not a hotel - it's a motel with an elevator. And despite some of the reviews stating otherwise there is nothing “cute” or “quaint” about these rooms. My room on the second floor was ridiculously noisy. The lighting is bleak. The furniture is below par even for a motel (check out that tv - classy). The bathroom looks like a prison cell (note the bathroom window wide open to the hallway!). There are perhaps a dozen parking spaces but you have to reserve in advance or you are out of luck. You can try to park on the street but this is a high density residential neighborhood. Although the front desk said that detail was in my booking I double-checked and it was nowhere to be found. A very long list of unpleasant surprises.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello colorama, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We regret that we didn't meet your expectations. Our rooms are quite popular with most guests, I'm disappointed that they weren't to your liking. We have recently upgraded our lighting and the furniture is new and modern, our TV's are 42" on swivelling mounts, so our guests can view them from any angle. We are located in a normal residential suburb on the edge of Sydney. Our proximity to the city is one of our strong points. I understand that you were already in a bad mood when you arrived, and I'm sorry we couldn't help change that. We hope that you will come back and stay with us in the future.

"Sydney on the Edge"

18/09/2018

Cozy Best Western on the edge of downtown Sydney. If your trying to save money by not staying in downtown Sydney this is a great place. Step right outside the door and jump on the bus for a short ride to Central Station, or a short 10 minute walk if that to the light rail station.Across the street you have a great Cafe for breakfast and coffee, a bakery, restaurant & bar. Help us get a more true Australian experience than staying in the downtown tourist area.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Sean, thank you for taking the time to review us. We're very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you liked the neighborhood. 29/07/2018

My partner and I were in Sydney for my 85th birthday hosted by my son. We could not stay with him and booked instead at the Haven in Glebe which was within walking distance. It was a good reason for that and many other reasons. Glebe Point Road is lined bygood restaurants for nearly every cuisine in the world. It also has a cut price chemist and Glebe Books which is one of the best bookshops in Sydney. The sydney University and the Broadway Mall is nearby. It is also within walking distance of the Sydney Fishmarket which has the most delicious fish meals for lunch beside the harbour. Buses stop almost outside the hotel door to the city and even to Coogee a delightful spot on the sea. The hotel has been newly renovated and everything is new and rather trendy with all the usual fixtures.. Most of the rooms have a small balcony with a table and chairs

Small but comfortable. Clean well equipped rooms, lovely bed and pillows and a balcony. The reception was very attentive were happy to bring additional requested toiletries (that I had forgotten) to the room. Maybe a squeeze for two people but for one it was perfect.

Stayed in this hotel for my 4 night visit to the city , choose it because of location and it is excellent for getting everywhere in the city, bus stops across the road and light railway 2 minutes walk away. Nice rooms and lovely bathroom with beautiful products. Lots of space for luggage, helpful staff.

We would definitely stay again. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. It is a great location close to the university and lots of restaurants and the tramshed (fancy food mall). The gym has all new equipment and is one of the better small gyms I have used. The internet is fast and reliable.

22/05/2018

We have stayed in this Hotel for many years. Whilst this establishment has been refurbished its redeeming feature is the location. Lovely cafes and restaurants within comfortable walking distance. 30 minutes walk and you are in the middle of the city. Limited parking under the hotel and not easy to park in the surrounding area. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. Excellent value for the area.

09/05/2018

I am so happy to spend three nights in BW Glebe. The staff are all friendly. While I asked for the higher level of room, the reception lady offer me an up-grated room with Anzac Bridge and city views. And the location is so handy. There are restaurants and cafes around. And you can walk to light rail station , bus stops just in the front of hotel, Fish market is not far at all. Thank you so much BW Glebe.

"Comfortable and quiet"

08/05/2018

I stay regularly at this motel as I work in Sydney 2 days each week. I really enjoy the convenient location, the local cafes and shops and the quiet ambience of this basic but comfortable motel. Parking is a little tight, but I guess you expect that in an inner city location.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review

"A terrible night"

1
30/04/2018

The rooms seem ok but there is NO sound insulation at all. Our room was near the elevator & we heard every person coming & going all night. A tour group arrived late & decided to party in the central open courtyard - at 4am they were still shouting & throwing things so I called reception to ask them to stop the noise. They did this but another guest shouldn't have needed to ask. Then a couple of hours later the traffic started on the roads outside, so no sleep at all was had. Don't be fooled by the convenient location unless you plan to be awake all night.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Lucy, Thank you for your review. We value your feedback. We regret the inconvenience caused by noise from the road and other guests. We are serious about our guests comfort and try to make sure that guests don't interfere with each others' stay. We are looking at ways to improve the noise reduction. If you could contact us directly, we could discuss the issue further and find a way to make sure your next stay with us is a great one! We loook forward to hearing from you.

"Comfortable stay in a pleasant area"

4
29/04/2018

A small hotel in the Glebe area. A short walk down to the water and a little park area with interesting views of the harbour. The rooms were comfortable and clean. There was a large internal open area that was really under-utilized. If there had been a few outdoor tables and chairs it would have been very pleasant to sit there. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. There were lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood.

"Comfy bed, great location"

3
23/04/2018

This place is ok, it was clean, the bed comfy and the location great for what I wanted. To charge at extra $15 for parking and then $100 as a deposit even though you pay in advance with Booking.Com is unacceptable to me. I probably won't stay again.

"Business "

21/04/2018

I most certainly would stay again at this hotel, beautiful area and close to City. Mono rail within walking distance. Peaceful area wit lots of green trees and historic homes. Lovely are to walk, I felt safe traveling alone. Close to cafes!

"Very helpful and friendly"

5
21/04/2018

From the moment I arrived at Best Western Haven Glebe everything was made very easy. Parking was easy to access and leads straight into main lobby where the reception service was extremely welcoming and helpful. Room was lovely and bed was comfortable. I woke up at 5am with a headache and asked Patrick at reception if there was any pain killers available as I would have had a 10 minute walk on my own to the closest 7/11 otherwise. Patrick went above and beyond to help me and found some Panadol for me which i really appreciated. I will definitely be staying here again. Very happy.

"Great Location"

3
16/04/2018

Clean, Neat and tidy. Walking distance to a vast selection of restaurants, Broadway shopping centre, and parks. Parking underneath convenient. Pillow to soft for me but a minor fist world problem. Bathrooms very small but modern. Big king size bed fitted myself, husband and 7 year old. Great for a weekend. Staff friendly and efficient, a real person to check in to.

"Overpriced and underwhelming."

3
31/03/2018

I paid about $240 a night and it was definitely too much. The best thing about this hotel is the location, close to public transport and hundreds of restaurants. I enjoyed the balcony overlooking a treelined street. Not all rooms have balconies though. Noise really travels in this hotel. My room wasn't too bad, but I knew some others staying here that said the noise was horrendous. I didn't like the cheap, tacky, shiny blue pillows or bed thing. Best just to keep it crisp with white covers. It was clean. Staff were underwhelming. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I got a deal for $150 and got to choose a quiiet room. I have managed to get deals for $240 at 5 star hotels near the harbour. However, the location in Glebe is pretty great. If you want to be near a lot of dining options this could be for you.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, thank you for your candid feedback. We are happy that you found our location to your liking, and enjoyed the balcony in your room. All of our 49 King rooms have balconies, only the 7 Queen rooms don't have them. A quiet room can be arranged, depending on availability at the time. Our prices are usually not that high, but during events, all hotels mark up the price of their rooms. If you would call us directly, we can offer our best prices to you. We hope to host you again, soon!

"Absolutely Awesome"

5
22/03/2018

Absolutely perfect very close to the wedding venue we attended, at Jones Bay Wharf, the motel room was modern spotless and the staff were awesome and they couldn't do enough, the car park was very tight and the gentleman even parked our car which was a great help for my husband. They even took the worry off myself and ordered our cab to get us to the venue through the busy streets of Sydney, we would definitely stay there again.

"Not a good experience"

1
18/03/2018

A first time client of this motel and quite possibly it will be the last time. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist on the front desk, unfortunately straightaway I witnessed another guest slip and fall landing on his back due to the entrance to the foyer being mopped and no safety warning signs were put on the slippery surface warning guests of this (not a good start, thankfully he was not hurt). After checking in at 3.00pm I went to the allocated room and seen straightway on the floor various used bathroom items from I assume a previous guest on the carpet next to the desk area, and I then found an item of inappropriate lingerie in the same area as the other items. I went back to the front desk and asked if in fact the room had even been cleaned given what I had found within the first minute in the room, they assured me that it had been cleaned but may have not been inspected prior to me checking in, the front desk attendant said that they were prepared to change rooms for me which in fact they did, but when the attendant came to the room to assist in moving me I was asked by him was the lingerie mine! This was quite an insult, as an act of compensation I was offered a free continental breakfast voucher for a local cafe for the inconvenience that had been caused. The second room was not much better with an apparent total lack of housekeeping, there was hair in the crockery, the bathroom appeared to have not been cleaned again with hair in the sink, on the floor and also in the shower and the carpet looked as if it had not been vacuumed, I gave up at this stage and I did not go back to the front desk for the second time as I felt that it would be the same had I have changed rooms again. This motel was not a budget priced motel but a mid price range motel, this motel is located in a great location, close to the city and the vibe of Glebe but it has some serious issues that needs attending to and I was really disappointed by the overall experience when I had heard so much good about the Best Western chain, hence this was the reason that I had made the booking.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Kate, thank you for your detailed and candid feedback. Alow me to begin by apologising for your overall negative experience during your stay. We have taken your feedback on board and have begun retraining housekeeping staff on safety and signage, to ensure the incident with the the gentleman slipping in reception doesn't happen again. We have also re-enforced our housekeeping protocols to improve our overall service of rooms. Please contact us directly so we can discuss the details of your complaint and work out a way to compensate you. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Best Western Haven at 196 Glebe Point Road is a really comfy courtyard hotel set in the centre of Glebe which is the most cosmopolitan district of Greater Sydney. Dining and drinking options abound nearby.

".Trendy little place"

07/03/2018

The place on the whole was great, room very clean, location was fabulous, staff helpful and friendly would certainly re book. Transport right at your door and 5 minutes to Darling harbour, it is a trendy little spot with very reasonable rates.

"A hotel is only as good as the service you receive!"

2
25/02/2018

The room is good, although I wouldn't call it 4 star, more like 3.5 star, it's a bit tired and the air conditioner randomly works but that did not impact on my rating. The lower rating is based on the bad service by the night manager. I ordered a delivery pizza and when it hadn't arrived after 90 minutes of placing the order, I rang Pizza Hut...they informed me they'd delivered it an hour ago. When I rang reception they said they tried to ring me & knock on my door but apparently I didn't answer!?!...I know I received neither...I was in my room all night. The night receptionist was not interested in hearing my side of the story, instead dismissing me as "lying" I can handle average accommodation but I cannot and will not handle bad customer service. I hope management reads this review and gives the night manager some much needed customer service training!

Haven H, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello TheWebCeleb, thank you for your candid feedback. I must apologize for the inconvenience caused by the pizza delivery, it would appear that there was a misunderstanding. I would very much like to talk to you directly. that way, you can give me the details of what happened so that we can pursue the issue with the staff involved. If you could contact me on [email protected], We can discuss the matter further. I look forward to hearing from you.

"Very noisy AC"

14/02/2018

Good location and friendly staff. Unfortunately the air conditioning was making a terrible noise and with a 30 degrees temperature outside it was impossible to leave the door open. Overall the hotel is nice housekeeping should be a bit more attentive (bathroom was left untidy. Also the hotel offer voucher to the Glebe cafe across the road and it's terrible.

Haven H, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello BatonCanelle, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am very disappointed that your stay was less than great. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please contact me on [email protected] hotel.com.au

22/01/2018

Nice accomadation for short stay. Good room service and very central in Sydney easy access via good transport links. Staff very helpful but after requesting to check in early following a 24 hour flight and arriving in Sydney at 11.00 we still had to wait till 14.00. Otherwise no other issue.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Shirley, Thank you for your review. I'm very happy to hear that the our location was convenient, and that you liked the service. We regret that we couldn't provide you with an early check in when you arrived, as there were no available rooms at 11AM, because check out is at 10AM and some guests had checked out late. We do try to provide early check-in for guests that request it, but it is subject to availability. We apologize for any inconvenience.

"Great location, good price, clean rooms and affordable parking"

21/01/2018

Good location close to bus and walking everywhere (which also means some traffic noise). Affordable parking at $15/night was handy. Rooms are small but very clean. Bathrooms small but nicely refurbed and L'Occitane amenities. Nowhere to put toiletry bag though - hang only. Friendly staff at front desk and water in foyer. No commune space or facilities (apart from a gym) but it's a great alternative to a city stay and very affordable. Good cafes and restaurants and pubs in area too. Wifi was intermittent.

Haven H, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, thank you for choosing to stay with us. I'm glad to hear that your stay with us was a good one. I'm glad you liked you L'Occitane amenities, and that our staff made you feel welcome. We regret that the street noise bothered you. Next time we'll make sure you get a quiet room. Glebe is a great suburb and walking distance to the CBD. We appreciate your feedback on the rooms, it has been passed on to management. We hope to see you again at your Haven soon.

"Disappointed "

03/01/2018

Sydney was the last destination of my honeymoon in Australia. Planned it in a way that I spend New Year's Eve in Sydney. Stayed here for 5 nights booked almost 6 months in advance prepaid USD 250/ night - not cheap by any standards. The hotel is located in a tiny vibrant suburb Glebe, dotted with small Cafes and pretty houses. Located approximately 3 km from Darling Harbour and the city centre with well connected transport. The check in was smooth. We were checked in by a cheerful executive Anne who gave us the room immediately and a complementary coffee voucher.Anne was helpful and gave us an orientation on getting around the city and the best way to catch the fireworks. Barring the check in and check out the interaction with the staff was quite difficult. The room was small but workable. Interiors were tired and fittings poor. Apart from the bed nothing worth mentioning. The cleanliness is absolutely dismal. Despite repeatedly requesting the front desk to clean our rooms. Bits of paper remained in the corners through our stay. Bed sheets and even cups were not replaced. The wall had a strand of hair right from check in to check out. Noisy corridors. A Chinese group of guests were having an unofficial new year after party unto he wee hours making a chaos in the common area. The soaps and shampoos were poor quality. This is not a hotel but a lodge. There is no cafe in house and you have to go across to an average cafe for breakfast. Surprisingly no complementary water! 3 dollars per litre. What's worse is the staff apart from Anne and the guy who checked us out have issues understanding English. I have stayed at other best western properties and this property is definitely below Best Western standards. Don't recommend. Better to stay at a hotel at the Harbour or Central

Michael P, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear Sudeep, Thank you for your valuable feedback. I am pleased that you found our reception staff helpful and liked the suburb of Glebe. I am extremely disappointed to read about your negative experience. This is not the usual high levels of service we normally offer and please accept my sincere apologies. Your feedback has been taken on board and we will certainly re-train our staff to improve our service quality and keep eyes on the common area to minimise noise. We are also currently looking to improve interiors. We are proudly using L'Occitane for our shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and handsoap, which normally guests like. I am not sure what made you feel quality of the shampoo and soap were poor. If possible, please email me at [email protected] to discuss further. Again, I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused during your stay. I hope you may choose us in the future to give us the opportunity to serve you better. Kind regards, Taka Kitade Duty Manager

"Good central location"

Nice small room with little balcony over street. The only issue was cleaning was not done until quite late in the day, or not at all. Great central location in Sydney. Handy to cafes and shops of glebe. Friendly staff on the desk.

"Small annoyances"

3
26/11/2017

2 night stay which was OK but a couple of minor annoyances spoiled a good stay. On my first full day I went out for several hours and put out the ‘make up my room' tag but on my return saw that the cleaner had skipped my room and gone onto the next one. I had nowhere to go until dinner, so decided he would have to clean around me when he eventually arrived to do the room. He came in about 3.30pm and spent 60 seconds changing the towels before waving at the unmade bed and (I thought) asking if I wanted the bedding changed... I said “no, just make it up”. Next minute he went out the door and that was it. Two used glasses on the desk were ignored and nothing else was touched!!!! Anyway. I also asked for a ‘late' checkout and was granted until 11am (an extra hour). At 10.30am I got a phone call from reception ‘reminding me' that checkout was at 10am.... yeah, no. Explained my ‘late' arrangement and was then allowed to stay another half hour. This was not a cheap hotel room ($190 per night - no breakfast as they don't have a restaurant), so I guess I expected a little more. Bed comfy.

"Clean, tidy, convenient, good value for money"

We stayed overnight before a cruise. The location is quite convenient - Glebe Point Road has lots of cafes, restaurants and shops, and the light rail to the city is only a short walk away. The room was well laid out and contained all the usual amenities. The bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated and the toiletries provided were quite good quality. Some reviews refer to rooms at the front of the hotel as being noisy but we didn't find this to be the case.

great location on glebe point road. easy to get around with buses and the light rail. very close to great cafes. The rooms are neat, tidy and well maintained great little court yard in the centre. not what i expected, but impressed with the place.

I always find it difficult to provide the "overall rating" of hotels - average seems to infer that probably not worth staying and very good might indicate that it is better than it is. For this hotel I have given in a very good....because it is very good for what it is and where it is. Right in the middle of Glebe, coffee shops, public transport, walking distance to lots of places, restaurants etc etc. Very newly refurbished the rooms have everything you want but are not luxurious. Great air conditioning that you can keep on all night without having that horrible brrrrrr noise and given that the window cannot be opened you do need the air con on. Parking underneath is limited and has a fee attached but that is what you expect in Sydney. Staff at the front desk are courteous and friendly. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was super quiet. I think if you stayed in a room overlooking Glebe Point Rd it would be a different story so perhaps ask for a room at the back. Very very reasonably priced hotel for its location and comfort. Super comfy bed and pillows. We are always looking for new places in Sydney to stay for weekends in the city and will definately book here again for December. Worth noting that there is no cafe/restaurant within the hotel but many many options literally just steps away from the front door.

Michael P, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello Bethie, thank you for taking the time to review us in such detail, and for your kind comments. We try hard to provide the best guest experience we can, and we're proud of our great suburb. We can definintely make sure you have a quiet room next time you stay with us, just let us know. We have a pizza restaraunt being built on the ground floor, and we're planning for a cafe, but the local shops have great options for food as well. I'm glad you liked the bed and pillows. The pillows are custom made for us. We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to seeing you again, soon!

"Simple, does what it says on the box"

05/11/2017

This is a simple three-star hotel in the heart of Glebe. I stayed here for a couple of nights for work. The rooms are simple and not overly large, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable; the bathroom was sparkling and functional. Note that buses drive right past the hotel and the windows are single-glazed, so rooms facing the road are quite noisy. There is a small round desk in the room but it's not ideal for doing work. There are plenty of places to eat up and down Glebe Point Road.

Michael P, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hello stamphappy, thanks for the detailed feedback. We're Happy to hear that you found the Haven to be what you needed, and that you were happy with the aminities and location. We regret any inconvenience caused by the noisy busses, we intend to install double glazed windows, but until we have, we will do our best to give you a quiet room on your next stay. We look forward to seeing you again!

"A little disappointing"

01/10/2017

Have just spent a birthday long weekend here and have a mixed opinion. Probably need to give it another chance as there were a football team of unruly young kids creating noise and playing football in the enclosed courtyard supervised by parents and chapperones who took little notice of them which was extremely frustrating. However, our experience started on arrival at around 9.30pm (a 24hr reception). There was a sign saying back in 10 minutes so we duly waited. After 15 minutes I called the emergency mobile number. It wasn't answered but the female receptionist immediately appeared from the office behind reception. She did not appear to be fully up to speed with the system (we had pre-booked) but we did get checked in eventually. After settling in I went down to the shops to buy some milk. The back in 10 minutes sign was back up and was still there when I returned. The room was fine. Then the kids arrived and ran riot without any action from reception. We went out the next day and I have to say the location is excellent - close to the city and Darling Harbour with easy access via light rail. After a full day out we returned to feral kids again. After a couple of hours and a football crashing into our door, I spoke to the parents/chaperones and told them to get control. They did for a short time. We went out for dinner and I complained to reception (2 very polite guys) who said they had warned the group. On returning, they had all set up in the enclosed courtyard (read echo chamber) with pizzas etc. Once again the young kids were feral and when they started with football again I complained to reception - apparently and thankfully not the only complainant. Apparently they threatened the group with eviction. That settled them down a fair bit for the night. But by morning it was on again. Anyway. A lot of that was not the fault of The Haven although I think the staff could have been more proactive and forceful earlier. Plusses were great location, good rooms, value for money. Minuses were really... if there is a large group there, they will likely use the enclosed courtyard and that could make it very noisy. We will give it another try in the future.

Michael P, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hi 3009jimmac, thank you for your candid feedback. We apologise for the disturbance caused by other guests during your birthday weekend. This is not a regular occurrence, in fact, we haven't had this kind of disturbance before. Our front office staff spoke to the group responsible on multiple occasions trying to control the noise. Unfortunately, we weren't as successful as we would have liked. I can assure you though, that this won't be tolerated again. Our policy on guest-generated noise has been revised since this incident. Once again, we regret the inconvenience caused. We hope to see you again soon!

"Nice reno, shame about the poor trade work"

10/04/2017

Great spot to stay, close to city, rooms clean and tidy, BUT, very poor trade work. No grout behind wash basin so water runs down the back of the wall and on to the floor. Broken tiles in the new shower. Toilet seat only 1cm from wall so not possible to sit directly on toilet unless your tiny or a kid. Exhaust fan in bathroom not working at all. Room has all amenities, hairdryer, coffee and tea, safe, iron and board. Nice courtyard. Parking on site with very minimal cost. However, I would definitely stay here again.

"Comfortable place to stay, easy to get around."

10/04/2017

We stayed here for 3 nights while doing tours in and around Sydney. The bed was really comfy. They had international travel converters for tourist from North America who didn't think to bring one, thank goodness. Staff were very friendly and helpful with helping to show us where to go and how to get around. Also with getting taxis and such. Michael and Zoe were really great. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the person who helped explain about Paddy's market- which was really helpful too. Room was clean and there is a free safe in case you need to store any valuables. It is located close to a transit station which is what I planned to use when booking, but once there33 we opted for cabs instead of wasting valuable time on public transport. I'd stay here again.

"Cleaners stole personal things"

27/03/2017

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. I took my iPad Pro with me as needed to do some work while I was on holidays. We left in the room a fast charger for iPad Pro and the cable (all worth 120 dollars). The ipad fast charger was stolen after the room was cleaned. We talked to the hotel but they didn´t take responsibility. We also showed a photo I took to the room before leaving where you could see the charger but they didn't offer a refund or to use their business insurance. I would not stay there unless you just take non-valuable items.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback and staying with us. We are sorry to hear that your personal item was lost. As we discussed in email correspondence earlier, we are unable to prove that it was stolen by our cleaner as we were informed by you after departure. Besides we have checked both CCTV footage and the room detaily, Unfortunately, we could not find your charger. On the CCTV footage, the cleaner was not carrying anything out of the room. It is possible that you might have lost it along the way to home or may have misplaced it somewhere else. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you at your Haven again.

"Tasteful decor"

06/03/2017

The official description about the hotel being refurbished is probably outdated because it look to me as completed. The rooms are small, but tastefully decorated, modern and clean. It appears that most rooms have a balcony - again a small one. You can't open any windows so you have to sleep with the aircon. Reception staff were very friendly. And there is free wifi. In summary, this is a good place for an overnighter or a short stay.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed staying at your Haven. Our refurbishment of the hotel has been completed in 2016 and we are currently working on the restaurants at the ground floor. Unfortunately we were not able to expand the room structure due to the heritage building restriction. However, we will surely keep our service quality better and better. Looking forward to seeing you at your Haven again soon!

"Smaller than I thought"

2
25/02/2017

Stayed one night and probably won't stay again. Not a place for tall people to stay. Yes the bed was large but had a massive ridge in the middle from a joiner bigger than any I have seen. Plastic on the wood and a bathroom that makes it tricky to use conformably if you are larger than small.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for all the inconvenience occurred during your stay with us. We have retrained our housekeeping staff to look after all the details in room more carefully and we are also discussing with maintenance engineers for improving issues about the joiners. We believe our service quality will certainly be improved when you visit your Haven again next time!

"A comfortable stay"

26/11/2016

Couldn't get a place in the cbd so this was the next best option. And it was a pleasant stay. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room, and the surprise of L'Occitane products in the bathroom. No restaurant onsite, but they do room service. The bacon and egg roll and mango smoothie hit the spot each morning for me. Easy bus ride into city too, with bus stop 50 metres away from hotel.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hi Hagler72, Thank you for your review. It's great that you enjoyed your stay with us, and our location was convenient for you. Glebe has a lot of great things to offer. The Glebe Cafe makes excellent food, and look after our guests well for us. we hope to see you on your next trip to Sydney.

"A good alternative to central Sydney"

4
15/11/2016

I needed to visit Sydney on business recently but was put off by the high prices of the hotels in the city centre. However I came across this hotel which is on the edge of the city but not so expensive. It is close to the light rail line and there is a bus to the city right outside. There are also lots of cafes in area. I booked by phone and the person was quite pleasant, although they forgot to send me an email confirmation of the booking which I had to remind them about. The hotel itself is very non-descript as it has no signs outside for some reason. I had a car and used their small carpark under the building, but note that it is very tight. I probably should have just parked in the street. The check-in was easy and the receptionist was quite friendly. The hotel rooms are placed around a open inner courtyard which looked like it had been done up recently. One problem though is that noise echoes around the courtyard which was particularly bad when other guests gathered in the middle of the courtyard to chat. The room itself was very pleasant with all the usual amenities, and I had a good night's sleep. It was at the back overlooking the back lane and adjacent houses so very quiet from that direction. All in all I would be happy to stay here again.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience at Best Western Haven Glebe. We are glad to hear you had a good night's sleep. However we regret that the noise bothered you, and we are looking into ways to minimize the noise. Due to our location in the heritage area, our signage has to be considered with the city plan. Therefore, we have been processing the signage application for several months and is currently still awaiting the Council's approval. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

"Ordinary rooms but horrible service"

1
27/10/2016

We own a local business and stay often. Despite being placed in a room next to the lift shaft and enduring the noise all night we still found it convenient to stay the weekends. Until, we booked for one night and decided to stay the extra night and the rude and aggressive receptionist did not honour the rate that was published online. After 10 minutes of questioning her as to why she could not honour the rate, we cancelled both nights. The hotel has lost a possible 26 room nights per year. There is a lot to be said for customer service. Will never stay again.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear Cheryl, Thank you for your feedback. Please kindly accept our sincere apology for the unpleasant experience occurred during your reservation. We will retrain our staff right away and ensure to offer the best available rate to every honorable guest. Thank you again for your great advice and sorry again for all the inconvenience. We believe our service quality will surely be improved very soon.

"Business trip trying something different "

26/10/2016

Well probably would have to agree with most comments. Staff super friendly. And live the bathroom layout and the way the accessories are laid out. However the rooms are very small but bed is comfortable. There is definitely effort in the refurbish and for the most part it is lovely. I was located right next to the lift which surprisingly isn't as loud as I thought but the road noise was louder. The aircon was difficult to figure out and you have to be very careful on the security of the room door, it stuck in the close and didn't latch unless checked. Good for the budget traveller. Close to the light rail and buses. Walking is even an option for the trip into the city.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear Diahann, Thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and service. Sorry for the inconvenience occurred about the door and the bathroom. We believe our hotel facilities and service quality will certainly be better when you visit your Haven again next time!

"Best kept secret "

25/10/2016

On a recent business trip to Sydney I stayed at this hotel. Although I had the street number there is little indication from outside that I had arrived at the destination. The taxi driver was helpful in this instance. This is a clean, modern hotel. Whilst my room was small it was more than adequate for my needs. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but room service is offered. With lots of restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity there is food to suit all tastes. The city is well served by public transport making this an ideal destination for tourists

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed staying at your Haven. We are also very sorry for not having a proper signage yet. We have being working on the signage for nearly 1 year. As we are located in a heritage area, our signage design has to be considered with the city planner. We are currently trying our best to push the approval process to be done as soon as possible. Sorry again for the inconvenience. We believe our service quality and visibility will certainly be better when you stay with us next time!

"Check room first and watch payment methods"

2
19/10/2016

We stayed in room 317 on 17th Oct 2016. Tip is to see the room first and watch how you pay. The hotel demands a room deposit of $100 on top of the room fee paid upfront. They photocopied my Drivers Licence saying it was their policy to record ID. I requested they destroy the copy in front of me which he did. The money was debited from our savings account immediately and the desk clerk kept telling us it was only on hold. We showed the Internet banking and he kept saying it would be returned the next day. Watch out for this as it took us 5 days to get the money released and then we paid $170 including $15 parking. The agreed amount. The room is located on the top floor but you have to enter the room via an outdoor glass walled balcony. Lucky for us it didn't rain. It was a long walk from the elevator. There was a nice view of the deck area on the floor below on the way. The room looked clean on entering but there was paint peeling on the wall and the shower has a small glass screen with no fan so you can't dress in there. We found a cleaner working on the floor to remove our chair cushion because it had white sticky liquid stains that I don't want to guess the origin. She was lovely and fixed it immediately. The king size bed had a mattress joiner that was like sleeping with a pool noodle in the centre of the bed. We went out for dinner and didn't discover it until we went to bed at 10pm. We phoned the desk and left a message. This call was not returned. This is our second visit and we gave it another chance because of location, cheap parking and they are rennovating. It was very disappointing again.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear Lorraine, Thank you for your comment. We are deeply sorry for all the inconvenience occurred during your stay. We have contacted professional painters to fix the painting issue in the guest room soon. We have also retrained our staff about how to explain "pre-authorisation" well to all our guests. A credit card pre-authorisation is to put a temporary "hold" on the funds that lasts for limited period. While the funds being hold, it will show a "Pending" transaction in your bank details and the record will be replaced by the actual charge when it is released. Many hotels apply pre-authorisation policy to prevent fraud and room damages. Thank you again for your feedback and sorry again for disappointing your stay. We believe our service quality will certainly be better when you visit your Haven again next time.

"Too cool for school"

2
15/10/2016

This motel was definitely about style over substance . It might be cool to have minimal signage i.e. an A4 placard at knee height in the window but it gets tiring when the taxi driver goes up and down the street 3 times to try to find it. It might be cool to have only a partial glass partition in the bathroom but not when all the water cascades out of the shower and onto the slippy large tiles. Reception staff contradicted what I had been told over the phone about room service and definitely had a take it or leave it attitude. When I asked about a cab I was pointed to the street.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear June, Thank you for your feedback. We are deeply sorry for all the inconvenience occurred during your stay. "Great location"

25/09/2016

Hotel has been refurbished recently. The double rooms are noisy as near the lift well. They are also pretty small, Ok for a few nights only. Ask for a queen at the back. Very convenient location with pubs, good restaurants, cafes, supermarket etc all on Glebe Point Rd. Also frequent buses, maps available at the hotel. Can take to Balmain for example or to the city.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed our location. We are also very sorry for the noise interrupted your rest. "Not Impressed"

19/09/2016

I booked my accommodation over the phone on a Tuesday directly with a receptionist for a one night stay on a Saturday during an event weekend. The guy I spoke with was very helpful, reserved a parking spot and told me of some of the restaurants in the area. This was great. I then went to check in on the day only to be told that my booking did not exist and that they were booked out. Admittedly I didn't receive a confirmation email, which is probably a mistake on my part not to follow that up, but then should I have to double check the receptionist? I just phoned them up directly and last time I checked, that's their job! There was a half hearted apology, followed by a token effort of two minutes fluffing about on websites to find alternate accommodation for the night. I ended up sorting out an alternative myself after half an hour of searching on their business center computer, but not once did any of the staff come to see how I was going or to offer any further assistance. Pretty rubbish service if you ask me. They have certainly made sure that I won't stay there again, which is a shame as the property is in a great location and looked to be in reasonable order, but I couldn't possibly trust them to handle my accommodation again.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your review. We are deeply sorry for all the inconvenience occurred last Saturday. It was certainly our negligence for not taking care of the reservations properly. Please kindly accept our sincere apology. We have reviewed our phone reservation procedures and retrained our reservation staff to ensure each reservation will be proceed accurately in the future. "Never again......"

1
10/09/2016

Our visit started off well as we arrived early at 10:00 am, were greeted with warmth and left our bags with reception until our room was ready. Came back from the markets at 4:30 pm and were allocated a room (112). Get up the stairs and end up outside our room to be greeted with a door held wide open by dirty laundry, and a little girl playing on an iPad on the floor. So I go back downstairs thinking a simple clerical mistake had been made. But no it was definitely our room that was still being cleaned at 4:30 pm with a wide open door and kid in tow. No worries-a bit unprofessional but just a mistake. So we were moved next door to 111 and immediately on entry our noses were immediately assaulted by a fairly strong mouldy/wet dog/damp/slight sewerage smell. By this stage we were over it and just wanted to relax so we opened the balcony door and chocked open the front door to hopefully air out the room. We tried to stick it out and even put some scented soap on the bed to try to disguise the smell. We eventually tapped out, admitted defeat and called reception. She took a bit to arrive but only because she had organised another room but also grabbed a can of air freshener! She was really good about it and asked us to check our third room (110) to ensure it was acceptable prior to moving. We did a smell test, moved our stuff and transferred rooms. While the room didn't smell of wet dog anymore, there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke. After the previous shemozzle we just accepted it. That was until we looked at the bedspread-it had about 10 long black/brown hairs on it. Considering my wife is a blonde and I have a shaved head they definitely weren't ours...they looked suspiciously like the cleaner's. So that was nearly the end of the debacle.....other than the fact that I saw a jumping bug in the bathroom that looked very similar to a flea....hopefully I am wrong and I have a very restful sleep-I probably will as my wife won't we able to climb over the Great Wall-ish like mound down the middle of the bed. In all seriousness the reception staff has been great dealing with the issues, the rooms are furnished tastefully but the cleaning really needs to be looked at-it's pretty bad when you want to turn the lights off to pull back the covers of the bed.....

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your comment. Please kindly accept our sincere apology of all the inconvenience and uncomfortable experience occurred during your stay. We have arranged deep clean of each guest room and retrained our housekeeping staff to ensure our room cleanness and service efficiency has been improved. We believe our service quality will certainly been improved when you visit us again next time.

"Good restaurants around"

07/09/2016

Hotel is okay - well maintained rooms with a balcony. Good storage options too. Food is a problem with nothing in-house. Fortunately the Glebe Pt St has so many variety of restaurants that there is very good choice within 5 minute walk. In my specific case the AC was not working. I was given a workaround when I arrived which did not hold good. After 4 days another executive gave another workaround that helped and stayed.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our room and balcony. We are sorry that our on site restaurant is still renovating at the moment. However, we do have room service available for breakfast and lunch which can be delivered to guest rooms. We have retrained our front desk staff to explain to our guests better in the future. Besides, we have also arranged the AC maintenance engineers to fix the issue. We believe our service quality will certainly be better when you visit your Haven again next time!

"Refurbishment a bib of a let down."

30/08/2016

Last time I was at this hotel was about 20 years ago. It has recently had a complete refurbishment and I was interested to see what they had done with it. Unfortunately just a few things let it down. The staff were as helpful as they could be but they can only work with what they have got. The rooms while having been completely done up have not been repaired. Our room had evidence of the roof leaking. This had taken off the paint from the wall and also damaged the print on the wall. The door to the room didn't close properly and you really had to give it a hefty push to get it to close. There was already evidence of mould in the bathroom which was a bit of a surprise. Our main issue was of the heating and cooling. We went to turn on the air con to go to sleep but it came though as heating. Apparently the air con in multiple rooms is connected and there is no way to get the temp you want you have to go with what it is set on. Either heating or cooling. It was on heating. We could not open the door as we would have heard buses going past all night and the bathroom window had super bright lights shining through so couldn't open that either. So we didn't sleep very well as we were too hot. This was a winter night. To not be able to control the temp is really not good enough. We may have ventured to leave the door to the balcony if there had been a lockable flyscreen.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hi Naomi, Thank you for your feedback. We are deeply sorry that you did not enjoy staying with us. Please kindly accept our sincere apology for all the inconvenience occurred during your stay. We will also pay attention to more details while cleaning guest rooms to ensure our room cleanness can be improved as well. We believe our service quality and hotel facilities will surely be better when you visit your Haven again next time!

"Good hotel, good value"

The upgrade of the old dilapidated Haven is very welcome. The new hotel is a good place to stay, especially in Glebe which is one of the most delightful suburbs in Sydney. Proximity to the city is also good and a simple bus ride or $12 taxi ride into the city. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Also considerably cheaper than the city hotels.

Hotel presents well with good 24 hour reception, there were no items in the mini bar, however you can order drinks etc. from Reception. I find this to be short of top class, also there is no pay tv so tv viewing is limited to free to air stations. Overall though the hotel is in a great location with plenty of food options near by. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is clean and neat.

"Modern and Clean"

Stayed in a twin share room just as the renovations were completing. The rooms are modern and clean with air-conditioning and a big screen TV. Front desk staff were also friendly and helpful. On the downside, I thought the rooms were a little on the small side, the bathroom was very compact - one needed to manoeuvre on to the toilet and the shower construction poorly thought out - water went everywhere. The walls are also paper thin, we heard every word, knock and bang of guests arriving and departing other rooms - needless to say the morning checkout period was a noisy affair. Our stay was comfortable and wasn't unpleasant, but I found myself overlooking it on all trips since because there is better accomodation available for the same price or less.

The Haven G, Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed our in-room amenities and services at your Haven. We are also sorry for all the inconvenience occurred with the bathroom. We will discuss with designers and engineers for better solutions to improve our bathroom facilities as soon as we can. We believe our hotel facilities will certainly be better when you visit your Haven again next time!

There is absolutely no evidence to indicate that the building at 196 Glebe Point Road is a Best Western motel. When I mentioned this to receptionist he said there was a problem because of all the heritage buildings in the area yet across the street all commercial premises had signs! I didn't sleep a wink due to the uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the king size bed. The shower controls were totally a mystery and finally with many random manipulations I achieved hot water. Aesthetically unusual decor with strange curtain completely oversized for narrow window but yet didn't successfully cover window. No shelf in bathroom to hold anything. Parking an extra fee.

The Haven G, Hotel Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hi Mary, Thank you for your review. We are very sorry for all the inconvenience occurred during your stay with us. Due to our location in the heritage area, our signage has to be considered with the city plan. Therefore, we have been processing the signage application for several months and is currently still awaiting the Council's approval. We will try our best to chase up as much as we can. We have also contacted maintenance engineers to look at the bathroom and window issues. We will also fix the problems as soon as we can. We believe our service quality and hotel facilities will certainly be improved when you visit your Haven again next time!

"Haven with a city view"

Very conveniently located on Glebe Point Road with access to bus and light rail. Restaurants and cafes abound as soon as you step outside your door. Amazing view from the balcony on the top floor of the city lights. Balcony doors open, a breath of fresh air uncommon in many hotels these days. Friendly staff at check in and during the stay. Clean and comfortable rooms, nice amenities in the bathrooms.

My haven experience started with out keys not working to get in. I had a cab waiting so i said can i pick it up when i get back and are you a 24hr reception. She said yes and no problem. I came back to a locked hotel with no reception. I had to sleep outside in the rain until someone opened up. When i got angry at the reception i was told cant you read the sign and he pointed at a be back in 10 sign. He was gone for at least an 90mins. Apart from that experience this place is over priced half attempt at a motel at best. There is no swimming pool.

"Affordable stopover in Sydney"

I have watched this hotel progress through the renovations over the last few years. There is now a lift, gym and open air space. The rooms have been upgraded. The bathrooms whilst small are functional, yet you do get the floor wet with the shower. Bed is comfortable and the room is adequately equipped, the day lounge is ideal to lie back in and read a book. Best of all is the restaurants surrounding ... so many choices. There is also a couple of second hand bookshops to pass time.

"Just OK considering the price"

We had a twin room on first floor. Decor is modern, wifi is included and runs well, bathroom accs are good, in-room coffee facilities appreciated (only instant - pod would have been much better considering the room price!), very little street noise (our room faced the side road). Pretty cramped throughout but OK for a night or two. Only problem here is that the internal walls must be very thin- we got a lot of noise coming from the other rooms - coughing, talking etc can all be heard and I was woken during the night by the amorous couple next door (thankfully they were quick). Also - there is no BW sign at the front at the moment, so you need to know the name of the side road. I'd stay again because the location is close to my daughter's house, otherwise I'd probably find something a bit cheaper elsewhere.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are currently working on better solutions for reducing in-room noises. We believe our service quality will certainly be better soon.

"I really want to like this hotel!"

I really want to like this hotel, and I do, there are just a few things they need to work on Pros: - Great location in Glebe with shops, restaurants and beautiful tree lined streets all around - Access into the CBD is very easy via bus (bus stop across the road), light rail (5 min walk) or walk - Free wifi - Refurbished rooms - Nice toiletries - Very good staff (mostly) - Quiet rooms - We got a really good room rate Cons: - Refurbishment has been done a little cheaply (sink tap was wobbly, toilet seat keep moving off to the side - Bathroom design means water from the shower tends to go everywhere - Cleanliness was a bit of an issue (lots of hairs in the carpet and in the bathroom). I actually asked for the carpet to be properly vacuumed and this didn't even seem to help. - There was water damage down the wall in our room (the damage left white streak marks over several metres and the paint was starting to peel back. This needs to be fixed. - One male staff member that I dealt seemed to have the standard answer of no or I don't know. When we checked in, we asked about the Glebe markets and he didn't know anything about them. We asked the same gentleman about a late checkout and he said no (another guy later told us it was fine...). A little bit of work needs to be done on customer service there but for the most staff, the staff were great. Overall, I would stay here again. They just need to step up a little maintenance and cleaning wise.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your review with very valuable recommendations. We have retrained our housekeeping staff to take more care on details when cleaning guest rooms and we are planning to purchase more powerful vacuum to improve cleaning quality. We are also retraining our front office staff to be more helpful for local traveling information. We believe our service quality will certainly be better when you stay at you Haven again next time!

"Great Location "

We have made this our base for visits to Sydney. The renovations are now finished and the results are pretty good. We had room 306, fronting on to Glebe Point Road, which had views to the city including a little of the harbour bridge. Excellent sleep with no traffic noise to speak of. Staff were really good, especially the guy who service our room. We intend to use this place again. Transport and restaurants in the area were first rate. If you are looking for a place to stay with easy access to the centre of Sydney plus great ambience, this may be the one.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Hi Glenn, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed staying at your Haven. Room 306 is one of our best view rooms where you can see Sydney city with a delightful breeze in the balcony. Please contact us when you are coming to Sydney again, we will try our best to reserve a view room for you. Look forward to meeting you at your Haven again!

"New hotel - very good experience"

It is a new hotel - everything is bright, clean and fresh. It is located on Glebe Point Rd - an absolute haven for shopping and dining. There were so many classy dining establishments within a short walk, we were truly spoilt for choice. Will definitely stay again - Winnie on the front desk was lovely!

"Rushed renovation"

Initually the room was fresh and new. Big flatscreen to zone out infront of. Bathroom was very small but for the money I didn't expect too much. Recently renovated but seemed rushed with no attention to detail. Room 107.

The Haven G, Front Office Manager at Best Western Haven Glebe, responded to this review
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience of the bathroom details. We have contacted our construction manager and discussing the solution of the improvement of this issue. "Great value option close to Darling Harbour"

11/03/2016

Fronted by the indomitable Michael at the check-in desk, this is a great value location for anyone needing to get into Darling Harbour - just 3 stops down the light rail line - or the city, which is 20 minutes by bus. Both those destinations are also walkable in 30-45 minutes, though it was pretty warm in Sydney the week I was there so walking in a suit was not really happening. Having spent the work week at the Haven, it is much better value than the dog box budget offerings at Darling Harbour. The surrounding Glebe Point Road area is a delight, with great food options from 6 am until late at night. Spacious recently reno'd rooms with a reasonably sized bathroom (L'Occitane soap, shampoo and conditioner on tap), workable shower pressure, and all linen sparkling. I enjoyed the balcony one evening though it only really works for rooms further away from the busy Glebe Point Road - try get a room numbered X06 and higher. In particular avoid room numbers 101, 201, and 301 which face right onto Glebe Point Road and would be very loud with the buses and traffic. Another tip is that you can avoid the $15 per night hotel garage parking charge if you're getting to Glebe after 4 pm and leaving before 10 am, as there is a fair number of street parking places with a 2P restriction but that only applies from 8 am to 6 pm. Very friendly and helpful staff who left no stone unturned to make my stay comfortable - they could teach the prestige chains a thing or two.

"Great value for money. Nicely situated"

I choose the place because it seemed a good deal. In fact it was more than that. The place is nicely situated in Glebe where there are lots of restaurants, coffee shops, markets. Not very far from central. The room I had felt spacious, light, very clean. A clear effort was made to accommodate guests as best as possible. Staff were really friendly.
