Best Western Garfield House Hotel

Should you go into the bar in the middle of the day with a book or laptop , seeking a coffee and maybe a bite to eat, don't expect to be welcomed. You will be treated like a severe inconvenience , as though you are expectations are totally unreasonable. The passive aggressive staff will make you feel very unwelcome throughout. Seems they are only interested in the funeral trade and have no desire to have locals pop in to spend money on a coffee or a pint. Drinks are fine, food is average.

I used to love this place but the service has gone back since I was last there. Rooms are ok, evening meal ok but the service at breakfast was disappointing. I sat for 20 minutes and still no one had come to take my breakfast order. I tried to attract the waitress's attention a few times but in the end I gave up and left. I asked reception if they could remove the breakfast from my room rate seeing as all I'd had was a coffee and she said she'll see what she can do. They credited my card with £5. Had to stop at McDonald's on the way to work and spend my fiver.

A lovely gift from our son and daughter in law for my 60th birthday. Had a lovely stay. A bit of shopping in Glasgow Fort ,and relaxing 2 day at hotel. Food was great. Upgraded room . Service and staff were lovely.

Found this hotel excellent, friendly and very helpful when asked any question, Stepps Railway station is only a 5 minute walk and a 15 minute train Journey in to Glasgow Queens Street Station. Glasgow is a great city to walk round with plenty of shop, pubs and restaurants to eat at.

I never usually comment on reviews, but the staff were very kind, engaging and understanding. Welcomed with a warm and friendly smile, which was then mirrored by every staff member across the stay who were all very helpful. Beautiful views of the Campsies and very easy access to the motorways, city centre and local retails park. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again

Really enjoyed our stay with BW, staff were all lovely and we had a very clean and comfy room. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which was very nice. Bit expensive for dinner options and the coffee wasn't very good for breakfast but small faults

A really pleasant stay clean rooms good parking Friendly staff and service and food were excellent I hope to be back as it's easy for travel in Glasgow and central Scotland area it feels homely and not just a budget hotel group maze.

Visited garfield house in February I stay 2 nights most months and would highly recommend to lone travellers of all kinds especially women this place is very friendly so so clean and staff are very helpful and professional they make you feel relaxed and happy nothing is a problem to them they will do there best to help just ask fabulous place

Travelling with 2 dogs. Staff were second to none. Cheerful, polite, super helpful. Room was fabulous. Food was great. I can't believe that this is only a 3* hotel. I have to say that the staff there made the visit so nice. We had 2 small dogs and they were welcomed as much as we were!

This was our first time visiting this hotel but it certainly won't be the last , we were warmly welcomed and once we got settled in our room we went to the restaurant for dinner and drinks, food was delicious and the service was great, the staff made you feel so welcome and comfortable x

We checked into this hotel , as it was close to where we were attending a function . We were delighted by the service from all of the staff . Lisa on reception was particularly helpful and lovely . She helped by ordering a taxi and ensured we had a way of getting back to the hotel . Breakfast in the morning was amazing , I mentioned being disappointed at there being no ‘square sausage' and it was sourced and we had some . Mark , whom I presume was the manager was extremely efficient and really nice . The rooms are huge , tea and coffee facilities, with some bottles of water and some caramel wafers . There was a great shower too. If we are up this way again , we will Most definitely stay here .

Lovely hotel with excellent evening meal and even better breakfast. Rooms clean and tidy. Staff well presented and very helpful. Lounge and bar area really relaxing. The hotel rooms are great value for money especially when you take into consideration breakfast is included.

Party of 28 for a Christmas night out. Food wasn't great. Lookearm. Turkey was thick and dry, beef dinner was veiny and fatty. Dessert was too rich. Drinks were expensive. DJ didn't cater well to everyone, cheesy pop only. Were advised by the manager as an NHS party we would have some complementary drinks on the table - didn't happen. Colleagues stayed in rooms which were clean with good parking outside. We wouldn't go back here next year.

Food was not up to the standard, place was very quiet being so close to christmas. Service was good and Lisa was most professional, just wish the food could improve.Myself and my husband would eat here more often but the food is not up to restaurant standard in our opinion.

Spent last night in this excellent hotel.As there is no lift and Ihave an achilles problem they gave me a room on the ground floor.The room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable.The hotel was spotlessly clean and we had a lovely breakfast and as we were on b and b and evening meal we ate in hotel. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much problem.

Just what I was looking for, a friendly, spotlessly clean hotel, good food and excellent service. I was so impressed, yet again I have booked again for later in the month when I will return with my wife. Thank you!

I stayed here for 2 nights recently on business. Reasonable sized carpark which was good to see. When I tried to check in, the place was like the Marie Celeste and I had to go hunting for staff to check me in after waiting 5 mins for someone to appear, I found someone in the bar who looked less than impressed to be at work. I had a very small twin room, no aircon and it was extremely tired. I asked about room service as the less than helpful receptionist told me there was a menu in my room - there wasn't. I walked back down to the bar who told me how to order which was great but still didn't have a menu. I got one and went back to my room to look at it, decided what to order but couldn't get through to anyone on the room phone (tried multiple times). Resorted to ordering a Just Eat to be delivered instead. Breakfast the next day was ok and staff seemed happier to be at work than the ones the night before. Didn't bother with dinner again the next night had another takeaway. There must have been an event or something that night as the hotel was extremely busy, lots of doors banging late into the night. Won't brother staying again as was less than impressed.

Hotel was clean and staff were very good, tv and trouser did not work in the room , the traffic noise from outside was just about tolerant , overall our stay was fine and the breakfast was good, for the price we paid for 2 nights I would have expected a little more like maybe some water in the room etc.

Beautiful little hotel tucked away, just on the outskirts of Glasgow. Close to work location so perfect for purpose. Located over 2 floors, quaint little rooms, clean and tidy. Plus points - friendly and helpful staff and great breakfast / dinner! The not so great points - musty smell in reception, needs a revamp, creaky floors, no lifts. Had an issue with the room I had, smelled terribly damp and musty. Reception and housekeeping staff were fabulous in re arranging another room promptly, despite the hotel being booked out with Team GB cycling team. Def worth a stay!

Bedroom facilities were excellent, comfy beds, clean, crisp bed linen and lovely towels. Excellent breakfasts,and other meals. Staff were helpful, attentive and so cheerful! A really memorable family time

What an excellent gem of a hotel this is. We booked without expecting an awful lot. We needed a hotel close enough to Glasgow Royal for a few hospital appointments and easy enough to access the motorway to go back up home after a stay and this delivered on both counts. The food was truly exceptional. The specials were always something exciting and innovative. We looked forward to dining here at night, and the breakfasts were really tasty too. Food always came out piping hot and quickly enough! All the staff we encountered were very friendly, especially Lisa and Yasmin! We will be back as it's likely we will need to return for more hospital appointments, but coming back here will make that a little less of a hardship! The rooms are comfortable and provide all you need for a few nights stay! They could maybe do with some brightening up and modernising but the rest of the hotel experience more than makes up for it!

Large family get together I was a bit hesitant as to how they would cope with 18 people visiting and some staying over two nights. Delighted to say they coped very well with the great service at and during evening meals and breakfast staff were great and very helpful and the rooms were spacious and very clean good work from the cleaning staff overall a really good two nights and would use again

Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and kind. The front desk staff were very helpful. The food in the restaurant is delicious and they have a good selection for all tastes. The room was very clean and had everything needed and the bed was very comfortable! 10/10 would stay again.

Spent two nights at the hotel where we have been twice before. The hotel has character, clean room and friendly staff. The rooms ar spacious, ample parking and excellent breakfasts and evening meal. It is our "go to place" when we visit family in Glasgow.

We stayed here for 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast. The room was large and spotless, bed was so comfy. Food was amazing and plenty of choices, highly recommend the lasagne Staff very friendly and helpful, hotel is in a quiet location Will definitely be back to stay here and would highly recommend staying here.

We returned to our wedding venue for a quiet relaxing night away, we were not disappointed, we booked on a dinner bed and breakfast deal and upgraded to the honeymoon suite for a fee. Cannot fault anything about our stay

I've had such a great few days here as I visited family, friends and a hypnotherapist up in Lenzie. The hotel is warm and inviting and the food is good and a reasonable value. It has excellent access to the motorways, without you actually feeling like it. Because you are so close to the beautiful view of the Campsies and countryside it is a great mix of good transport and lovely surroundings. Thumbs up for the staff especially, thank you.

Stunning accommodation very clean staff awesome definitely would recommend. 2 nd overnight stay . Staff went out their way that extra mile even offered to drive us to local area as weather was so bad Lisa you're a star.

Needed a cheap 1 night stop over, Garfield was a great find with easy access to motorway. The room was a little tired and views not great but it was perfectly presented and clean. Lovely staff. Great breakfast. Would stay again.

this is the second time in the last two months and we cannot fault anything , the staff are all helpful and make you feel important , the food at both breakfast and dinner is good quality and a good choice on the menu , would recommend this hotel

An overnight stay to meet friends. Used to think that Best Western were a bit tacky but Garfield House is way and beyond the totally opposite. Lovely room, friendly & efficient staff and excellent well presented food. Despite being busy with a wedding, our short stay was most enjoyable. As my title says, they are Simply the Best Western

Welcoming convenient comfortable Hotel. Stayed at this hotel with my sister had no complaints..staff were polite and efficient..rooms clean no problem with hot water or noise even though there had been two weddings while we visited. We thought the breakfast was excellent pleanty of choice. The fact the waitress came and took our order from breakfast menu was a bonus loved our stay and will be visiting this hotel again . Convenient for visiting Glasgow free parking at the hotel too.

Very limited hot water and pressure. I suspect this has been a problem in this room for some time, Hot water system does not appear to have the appropriate circulation pumps and I fear that the conditions may present a health hazard.

expect noise. lot's of noise. there was two functions on near our room so it was very loud. we complained and they said it "was a function hotel and we were to expect some noise". Not recommended. They had a decent GF breakfast but was too tired to enjoy it.

Rude unhelpful man on reception, noisey - worst night sleep ever, ripped bed linen, inedible breakfast. Such a shame as it's a pretty buliding with good sized free car park and not far from train station.

Everything about the BW is great. People, food, rooms. Love it there. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The service is perfect. Great food and you are not rushed. You get an excellent breakfast with a wide range of choice. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable.

Nice rooms but really noisy nightclub / wedding downstairs. Not recommended if you plan on sleeping (main point of a hotel IMHO) I wish they had mentioned this noise issue when booking. not recommended

Another trip up to Glasgow, and another great night at the Garfield, food was up to the usually standard, excellent. Reception and restaurant staff, welcoming and friendly. Looking forward to our next stay in a few weeks.

I have stayed at three Best Western Hotels now, and each one has been an enjoyable experience. The staff at the Eglinton Arms at Eaglesham, and the Garfield Hotel at Stepps, we're particularly friendly, helpful, professional and fun. I can't wait to visit again.

We spent three night here whilst visiting Glasgow. It's very easy to drive into the city. These is ample free parking and free wifi. The room was well appointed and clean. There were evening events on 2 of the nights and we couldn't hear a thing from our room. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The room was a little warm and they supplied a fan. They made a lot of fuss of our dog. There is an outside searing area where you can sIt with your dog. if you are planning a trip to Glasgow and want a quiet place to stay, with or without a dog, I heartily recommend this hotel.

Used a voucher that we had for Christmas. Turned up and got checked in. Had a lovely room with an amazing bathroom. Went to the bar for a few drinks before returning to the room, was served by a lovely young girl with long black hair, sadly didn't get her name. She was very attentive and friendly. Had dinner which was great, had a lovely burger and bottle of wine, my partner had the steak pie which was Devine! Breakfast was included and was fantastic! Didn't like half the options so the staff were more than happy to swap them out for me, just overall a lovely time! Overall the staff and the hotel was brilliant! Absolutely don't see how it can be a 3 star, worth more!

Hotel its self is nice, bar and restaurant area is clean and smart. The rooms could do with updating a little bit but the do what they need to do. If you have any children be careful with the hot water as extremely hot, the taps were the wrong way round one the bath hot was on the right not the left. Can trick you out. At the minute building work is going on around most of the area surrounding the hotel, this was a little bit of a inconvenience as they starting working at 7, petrol grinders, jcb diggers.

Beautiful hotel, Fantastic staff. All staff couldn't do enough to help. The hotel was Very clean and tidy. We didn't eat there but had a drink at the bar and the food that we had seen being brought out looked delicious.

Nice Hotel, All staff friendly, Could do with sound proofing above the Function suite as there is rooms directly above it! We moved rooms after the first night so that was resolved. Would be good if you are forewarned about the noisy rooms when booking.

First time starting at Garfield hotel and it did not disappoint. Managed to get a great deal on an executive room with breakfast included. From check in to check out the experience was brilliant. Food is amazing and staff are lovely.

A few things that I feel could have improved the quality of the hotel! The room was adequate, a small bit of mould in the bathroom and teas and coffees in a sandwich bag which didn't look great! The staff were friendly and attentive but the breakfast food let the hotel down. We had dinner and b&b at the hotel. The starter and main course were lovely but the deserts weren't great. Overall a pleasant stay tho.

We had an overnight stay on the way to pick up a Wolfhound puppy. A lovely peaceful hotel to the east of Glasgow. A quiet area with ample parking. The furnishing and rooms were tastefully furnished and well appointed. The staff at all times were helpful, friendly and professional. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant, a wide selection, tasty and well presented. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again. Good value for money.

Very friendly staff and lovely food. Close to main Rail and bus routs to Glasgow. Hotel is a lovely old characteristic hotel but modernised rooms. Food was lovely and the staff were very knowledgeable. Overall is was l lovely stay and I hope to stay again.

Very pleasant hotel in convenient location for trip to Glasgow and surrounding area. All aspects of our three night stay very enjoyable. Good range of choice on dinner menu and service provided by Hazel, who looked after us, was exemplary. We plan to stay here again.

We were greeted by friendly staff, they took time to explain where our dogs were allowed. Also gave us a recommendation as to where we could go to eat with our dogs. The front desk also gave us directions to the property. They were extremely friendly and courteous throughout our stay. I will definitely be staying here again in the near future and I highly recommend this hotel. It's located near the M8 so it's very accessible. Thanks for your help throughout our short stay and my wife and our dogs will be back!

Great place and the staff were great. Everybody went the extra mile to be helpful. We arrived early and after a delicious breakfast we were able to check-in early and get some needed rest after a trans-Atlantic flight. Every breakfast we had was excellent.

great experience , wonderful and helpful staff, wheelchair access is not great however the staff were caring and kind, room was clean and very comfortable, We were at a wedding where the food was served quickly and hot!. Breakfast one of the best served to me in years. If you have serious mobility problems just be aware the ramp access from car park is challenging, If you are able bodied then i have no problem recommending the hotel. Duty manager and his staff on Saturday 12th were friendly and helpful (caring) .

Great hotel nothing was too much trouble the staff are very friendly and helpful very informative front desk staff looked after you and treat you like the way I like to be treated as if you are the most important person restaurant staff very knowledgeable about the menu

Food was amazing everything else wasn't great from opened water bottle to a building site for a view that worked a sat morn to the worst deluxe room I've see and bar closed at 11.50 pm with no drinks for residents after that

Very convenient location for city visits as close to M80 junction with ample off street & free parking. Excellent bus & train access to city centre. Great breakfast at a very reasonable price One of the few hotels which takes dogs and whats more they don't charge.

We stayed as a last minute trip We were kindly upgraded to the executive suit. However this came at a cost! There was a function. With the music blasting till we'll after midnight. Girls screaming as they walked passed the room not the best night sleep! We had food and few drinks in the restaurant and it was amazing! The salmon was delish! My only criticism is it would have been nice to receive a phone call from hotel asking if we still want to stay! Truth be told I probably said no! Please look after ALL your guest not just the ones part of the function!!

My husband and I stayed for a night at the Garfield as we were in Stepps for a 50th Birthday Party. We were very pleasantly surprised. Staff are warm and welcoming, the rooms tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. We had dinner in the hotel before heading to our function. Good pub grub… couldn't fault it. Same for breakfast. Full Scottish and very good. At £50 a night for bed and breakfast I would definitely recommend.

The best hotel in Scotland! I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel - the staff are lovely, attentive and looked after me as I became ill during my stay and really helped me during a difficult time, thank you all - Sam, Christine, Mark, Miriam and all the team at Garfield House.

Myself and my partner booked a last minute overnight for Hogmanay. We stayed in an executive double room (room 1) booked via Booking.com. Check in was fast and easy, the receptionist was really friendly and welcoming. We had a few drinks in the bar before it closed early for Hogmanay and again, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered room service to our room and this was added to our tab which we paid at the end of our stay along with the drinks from the bar. Our room was large, clean and the bed was extremely comfy. The T.V. didn't have great signal nor the wifi but this wasn't a major issue for us as it was only a one night stay. The only thing I would comment on was that the room wasn't that warm and did take a while to heat up with the electric radiator, possibly due to the size of the room and the high ceilings! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, very modern and stylish. It was excellent value for money and would definitely recommend and stay again!

Purchased an overnight here on Hogmanay. I upgraded to suite and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Decor so tastefully done and room was spotless. Check in was swift and staff friendly. Food throughout was exceptional. Staff were all hard working but friendly and approachable. We didn't attend entertainment. We were happy in our HONEYMOON SUITE What a way to welcome a new year. We will recommend and most definitely would return. Thanks to ALL THE STAFF.

I stayed here as was down in Glasgow for a Christmas family visit. Everything about the hotel was god and real value for ones.Lovely comfortable room, excellent breakfast with the nicest waiter ever. Would certainly stay here again when visiting the family.

This hotel really well, staff very nice and solve the room problems immediately. The restaurant their food also well too, and staff very politely and friendly. Just one of our room the water was no hot water, only warm, cannot sort out as already 21:30pm, fortunately we can use the ours other room to take a shower. The furnishings are quite new, bathroom clean and comfortable. Free of my dog stay it was excellent too.

I chose the Garfield for my wedding 3yrs and return to stay whenever we can. The rooms are excellent, the menu brilliant, and the atmosphere is perfect. The bar offers excellent choice and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed here last week. It claims to be a "dog friendly" hotel. I would say this is an incorrect statement. The dogs are only allowed in the rooms and nowhere else in the hotel. Not even in the bar area. I knew our dog wouldnt be allowed in the restaurant thats just a given but not even in the bar area when claiming to be a dog friendly hotel. This meant our stay was confined to our room. Dinner and breakfast were great! 10/10 for me, but "dog friendly", not so much.

Most enjoyable stay, welcoming staff, rooms spacious and warm, good facilities, restaurant and bar. After a 7 hour trip we were delighted with every aspect of The Garfield Hotel and staff all very respectful towards us as we had travelled there for family funeral. Thank you all

We met friends here for breakfast. We were unable to get to the restaurant before breakfast finishing time. I phoned 2 days ahead and the staff kindly booked 4 of us for coffee and breakfast rolls. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Server was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Definitely be back.

My friend and I got a deal for this hotel. 1 night with 3 course meal, breakfast and a bottle of bubbly. It was all well worth it. We arrived early so was unable to check in but was offered to keep our bags. We were heading Into Glasgow anyway so left our bags in the car. We asked for the directions to the train station, the receptionist didn't know but she asked the chef to come out and tell us where to go which he did. We got back around 5.45 and checked in with a lovely receptionist. The room was fine, very clean, the usual, nothing fabulous but very spacious for us. We had our 3 course meal and took our bubbly with us, ALL the staff in the restaurant were so nice and so helpful, especially our waitress, a pregnant polish? Lady. The meal was absolutely delicious, we loved every part of it. The beds were so comfy, especially the pillows which I'm very fussy about normally. We had pre ordered breakfast so didn't have long to wait once we arrived for breakfast the next day. The cooked breakfast was very fresh and again delicious. The toast wasn't anaemic like a lot of hotel breakfasts. My friend had the ham and cheese plate with croissants and the ONLY very minor complaint we had was that the croissants were cold. They would have been much nicer warmed up slightly. She mentioned it to the young waiter and he didn't just take the constructive criticism but he asked if we were staying another night to make sure she had warm croissants the next day. Unfortunately we weren't but I thought that was a nice touch. The hotel itself is lovely. Restaurant very comfortable and a nice atmosphere at dinner. All in all we would definitely stay here again and a lot to do with that is the staff, all of whom were great.

We have been using this hotel for 25+ years but our recent stay was the best ever. There has been a lot of refurbishment. Our room was excellent with a walk-in wardrobe and a sofa. Breakfast each morning was exceptional and the 3 dinners we ate there were a delight. The cullen skink is outstanding! Without exception the staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay

Had an overnight stay at Garfield House Hotel with friends to celebrate a birthday, rooms were really nice and has the added bonus of having a seating area where we could sit and have a few drinks in the room. Had food and a few drinks in the outdoor seated area then moved inside after it turned cold. Lovely hotel and got a good deal on the overnight stay

The worst experience. Rude, ignorant staff who give the Impression that guests are an inconvenience! The corridors echoed every guest noise which cancelled any sleep possibilities. A fruit salad should consist of more than melon and if I wanted an aldi croissant for breakfast I could have gone to the shop myself!

We had an issue with an external company who made our wedding cake, which collapsed and the hotel saved the day by getting another from one of their suppliers. Place is absolutely stunning, staff where extremely helpful, cosy home from home but can also have a lively feeling down in the lounge area. Rooms where totally spotless. Definitely will be back for the weekend very soon.

We recently held our wedding at the Garfield house hotel. On the run up to it. Whenever we needed to speak to the team we where always greeted with a smile and attentative staff and nothing was a problem. We had a few date changes due to the pandemic and these changes where all made without any problems. Throughout the hotel closure, we had several calls from the team who worked through it to make sure we where ok and plans still progressing. After lockdown, the hotel staff where there if we needed to talk, go over anything whenever we wanted, there was always someone to help. On the final days before our big day, again the staff where amazing. Having some changes they where there when wee needed them to make these. On the day ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. staff where so attentive to all of our guests. The whole day went without a hitch from start to finish. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone if they want a stay at a hotel to be a good one. Thank you

Bedroom had not been dusted properly for I don't know how long. Lights and headboard was thick of dust not what you expect for £95 for 1 night. The sheets were clean as well as the towels. Breakfast was poor would not recommend. Meal on the Friday night was not pleasant, garlic mushrooms looked like they were out of a tin sour dough was a slice of ordinary bread toasted. Main not bad dessert was ok .

We very much enjoyed our 3-day, 2-night stay at the Garfield House Hotel in Glasgow. This was our second stay at this lovely hotel and we shall certainly be returning for another stay. From the warm and friendly welcome we received upon our arrival for both stays, to the care we experienced each time we had a request, the staff's consistently friendly and helpful manner made our stays at this hotel delightful and relaxing - just what we needed. Thank you everyone! We shall see you again soon.

Went today for lunch - exceeded expectations. £9.95 for 2-courses…excellent value! We opted for fish and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding. The fish and chips were delicious, hot and tasty. Lovely touches were that it came with tartar sauce, mushy peas, a slice of lemon and a wee personal vinegar bottle. Batter was crispy on the fish. The pudding was also delicious. Sticky toffee came heated through with cream, and a few raspberries and strawberries. I opted for a scoop of ice-cream to go with it. Service was lovely too. I live locally and we are already planning to return next week for lunch to celebrate a family birthday. Lots of choice on the lunch menu but the special £9.95 choices were especially good value.

I have stayed at the Garfield many times on business and this was the second visit with my wife as we went further North on holiday. I have always found the Garfield to be a nice homely, welcoming hotel with friendly staff and comfortable rooms, this time was no exception. We arrived mid afternoon and had tea and warm scones in the lounge, whilst this was very enjoyable it was a mistake as we went to the restaurant early and too advantage of the early evening menu. Whilst this may have been a reduced price for early diners, the portions were by no means small ! The food was very good and plentiful and very good value for money. the executive room was large and included a settee with a flat screen TV, including Text which is a bonus nowadays. Breakfast was pre-ordered, which I am not a fan of, the orange juice, fruit salad and yoghurt were warm suggesting they had been out for a while but the cooked breakfast was hot and seemed freshly cooked. We will certainly stay at the Garfield again when passing Glasgow and i would recommend to to anyone who doesn't want to stay in the city centre.

I have been to a few functions at this hotel over the years (weddings, birthdays) and all the times I have been the staff where more than helpful, nothing was any bother to them, from checking in to checking out there were no problems.

This hotel is amazing in everyway, it is value for money and exceeds the service of a lot of hotels that are double the price. The reception team were very helpful, especially the guy from Aberdeenshire., he went out of his way to help especially as he knew we had a baby too. The room was very clean and had lots of room which we needed for our baby. The service and breakfast was amazing and cooked to perfection Pets are very welcome and there is a nice grass area to walk around the hotel We wiill be back Neil

Excellent location to visit family in Glasgow. Amazing room.. the upgrade to the bridal suite was wonderful and appreciated. Hotel immaculate, staff friendly and professional and service impeccable. Excellent food and drink choices. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Got to be conscious this was around £50 B&B on a Sunday evening and I got what I booked. In other words the smallest single room (number 4) with a single bed and not much room for much else. Room (bathroom especially) a bit more dated than the public areas. Some confusion at check-in about who I was and whether I'd paid and a very practical rather than warm welcome. That theme continued with other interactions in the hotel. Slept well enough. Breakfast was pre-ordered night before due to Covid and served in the pleasant restaurant. It was also very good and ended up being very good value. Plenty of free parking. About a 5-10 minute walk to Stepps train station with trains into Glasgow Queen Street.

Outside, looks good. Public areas clean and modern. Room was spotless, only issue is no air-conditioning, also no fan in room.,not great. Booking..this was a disaster. Firstly they allowed someone else to cancel my booking!! Then spent 3 phone calls trying to get it sorted . On arrival the chap at reception, older gentleman, he is NOT suited to being client facing. Grumpy and indifferent and lacking in interaction in any positive manner, I'd swap him for someone with a working smile. Would I go back? Yes but I'd bring a fan.

Went for a meal with a friend for my birthday and we got a nice booth. The waitress wasn't wearing a mask and she took our drinks order. When she came back she coughed all over our table. We felt very annoyed as she didn't turn around to cough away. She said she had a tickle in her throat. With the COVID situation and customers expected to wear the masks until seated at the table you would expect the waitress staff to do the same. We spoke to the manager and he said she has an exception due to disability. If that is the case they should not be serving customers directly and should be given a different role. The food itself was OK but I won't be returning if the waiting staff do not wear the face masks.

Made very welcome by Ian on reception, already checked in on line so it was a smooth operation. Fantastic, spotlessly clean large twin ground floor room, comfortable beds with soft linen. Great TV and nice to see remote control in a plastic bag. One wooden chair and two nice bucket chairs, lots of surface space. Spacious bathroom, also with good surfaces for guest to use with soft towels and ample toiletries. The hotel is tastefully furnished and decorated, it has a lovely ambience about it and has beautiful bar & lounge areas, and the restaurant is very pleasant and comfortable. Lisa kindly arranged for us to have a booth table for dinner as I use a wheeled walking aid which was easier to stow next to the booth. We were well looked after by Jack who took our food order and ensured we had all we needed. Excellent choices and our food was delicious and efficiently served. Equally pleased at the efficiency of the serving staff at breakfast. Beautifully cooked food yet again, and plenty of it. Check out was simple too. All the staff we had the pleasure of meeting were cheerful and friendly and are a credit to the hotel and it's obvious that they are all happy in their work. We highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent meal. All of the meals selected were really good. Service was perfect and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For a party of 11. Great night. Will definitely visit again soon. Thank you Garfield.

A great welcome from the team on check in. All credit to them working and adhering to COVID 19 rules and restrictions. My room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had to be ordered the evening before, and quality of food and service was very good

Attended a wedding here last night and cannot praise the bar staff enough.Cameron was outstanding and his co worker ( so sorry didn't get the young girls name ) really were the dream team .If this was my hotel l would be delighted to have such professional,friendly staff.Well done ..

Only reviewing the veggie options at lunch. We weren't staying so can't comment on the accommodation. We went twice for lunch and sat outside. The veggie menu has a few options, but as my family is Indian in Italy I didn't chance those cuisines. That left me with the veggie bean burger which was fine and tasty enough, but a bit dry. Second day I went simpler with the lentil soup with buttered rolls which was hugely enjoyable, especially on a cool blustery day. Service was fine and friendly overall. I'd have liked to have seen some Scottish beers on tap, but certainly the offering (from Prague I think) was very nice.

The hotel was peaceful and comfortable with lovely helpful staff from start to finish, We had a problem with the first room we were offered - it was already occupied!! But this was soon rectified with a better room, Breakfast was lovely and the staff in the dining room were so helpful and happy to pander to all our needs

Our group came together from from several European countries and they all expressed their delight with their stay at the Garfield House hotel. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well-appointed. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, regardless of the request or time concerned. The chef spoke to the group personally and even went beyond the set menu to provide for individual requirements (the sea bass dish he prepared was the best I have ever tasted). Even hosting a wedding on the Friday evening did not put them off their stride and our group's needs were met regardless. All the staff - restaurant, bar, housekeeping, management and reception - were equally friendly and polite throughout our stay: they took the time to chat and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. I would recommend the Garfield House hotel without hesitation - I certainly hope to stay there again.

Visited here one Sunday afternoon for lunch. My partner had the prawn cocktail which was bland and disappointing given it cost £7. I ordered the soup which was quite tasty but I had to wait for the waitress to bring me a spoon! The steak was poor quality, tasteless and fatty. The onion rings were undercooked. The service was average and the experience overall very disappointing and poor quality. There are definitely better places to eat nearby.

We were in Glasgow for a wedding and stayed here, a £10 taxi ride away from the city centre. The hotel was pleasing with a small but very clean room. Excellent service from arrival to departure, everyone polite and helpful - just excellent ambassadors for Glasgow. Felt very COVID-safe. Very good table service. Best mushroom stroganoff I ever tasted!

A lovely two day visit for a wedding- The hotel is lovely. Clean and totally mindful of COVID rules and regs. All the staff are friendly and very helpful, Ian arranged our cab to get us to St. Andrews Cathedral in town and gave good advice for getting one back. But my star of the front of house team is Anton- I had bought a card for the wedding . On opening it I found it had the wrong wording . Anton helped me with the solution. We did a little sticking blue peter style and the problem was solved. They do a great Breakfast. Although I was disappointed not to have square sausage. My husband says that the mushroom stroganoff was the best he had ever.

Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday. We got a great deal through a third party which offered us dinner, bed and breakfast and a bottle of champagne in the room! The food was amazing, the room was very spacious and really clean, the staff were very friendly. Such a great atmosphere and a lovely hotel. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

Brilliant service, great food, easy to find, plenty parking, comfy bed and great shower. Unfortunately we had a lot of noise from squeaky floorboards in rooms around us and our room also. Also could only eat outdoors with the dog. Thankfully due to COVID we were able to eat in our room on this occasion which was great.

Inexpensive, very comfortable, good breakfast and the charming guy on reception managed to get my wallet which I had left in a taxi back to me. Although I arrived late and left early the hotel looked very smart.

We came to the hotel to have a relaxing night before our nephews holy communion so we wouldn't be rushing from Dundee to Glasgow. The hotel had dogs staying there, we were all woken by barking in the hallway at 6:30am! The rooms weren't very clean . We were also called by reception at 5 past 11 telling us to get out! Wouldn't stay here again. Would definitely use the premier inn across the road next time. My brother,his wife and child were £50 to stay but because I had 2 children we were £135!! Absolute rip off for what we got!

Really lovely hotel without the feel of it being a big chain, Post covid and their first event I couldn't fault the experience or service I received Food was full of flavour and I didn't short changed with the portion size

Two night work trip to Glasgow and on arrival the hotel met all expectations even with Covid measures in place for meals and check in. Location was ideal for me to travel to place of work. Would recommend .

All the staff at the Garfield were very helpful through these difficult times. Special thanks to Connor and Ross who where always there to assist. The breakfast was sent to the room daily and was very well presented.

The hotel itself is beautiful however the reason for this review is to thank the staff. All staff that we encountered throughout our stay were incredibly polite and extremely helpful. Travelling to Glasgow during the pandemic could have been very stressful, however, the staff were fantastic at explaining the local guidelines to us. Even with restrictions, our stay was wonderful and finished off with an amazing dinner and breakfast served by the hotel. They were accommodating and cannot wait to visit again.

We had to travel to Scotland during the Pandemic to attend a family funeral. The staff at this hotel are second to none. Friendly helpful nothing was to much bother. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely good value for money

I had been requested to work in Glasgow for a week and then the second lock down happened. Thinking a week of takeaway food was looming, I packed ready. But to my surprise Best Western came up with a gem. Best Western Garfield House Hotel. This place made the trip memorable. The staff are excellent, with attention to detail. You will be spoilt in the restaurant (Bar and Grill). The excellent food is served literature minutes after you sit down. Definitely worth another trip.

Just had a lovely 2 nights stay with my friend. The hotel is in a great location and is lovely and clean. The staff including Ross (who is so friendly and a hoot!) and Lisa (so lovely, fun and professional) could not do enough for us. There were strict safety measures in place which was very reassuring. We were made to feel very at ease and Ross even switched our mattresses himself when we commented that they weren't very comfortable. All in all a brilliant experience and we'll definitely return. Cheers!

I had booked 3 tables all within the COVID rules (a table of 6 with 2 households a table of 4 with 2 households and a table of 3 of one household all 2m apart) for a small lunch and cup of tea after my daughters christening. At the time of booking there was a worry from the hotel that they wouldn't have the kitchen staff to deal with the 3 tables as they where on skeleton staff. After phoning to confirm the booking they called back saying the environment health had just come in and told them they aren't allowed this booking as it's considered one party. This is a lie. On booking the tables 2 tables where booked under my surname as I was at one and my parents at another so same surname, the 3rd table was booked under my in laws name as it's only them sitting at it. So there's no way what they are saying is true. I wouldn't mind if they called to cancel it saying they either couldn't staff it or just had concerns about the booking but to hide behind a lie and treat people like this is very poor.

Well presented reception, looked amazing reception staff were more than helpful, rooms were amazing,for a double room, quite large, brilliant sleep dinner was superb, as was the service, definitely be back

Just returned form a overnight stay and really impressed with service and cleanliness of the room Eat in the hotel bar grill a god selection and reasonably priced , even if we missed the special time deal Breakfast sent directly to room bang on time and cooked to perfection Will definitely be back to sample menu over coming months

Enjoyed my stay here, easy to get too without traffic. Staff were great and felt all was being done to keep guests safe. I kind of like the new rules as all breakfasts are cooked to order and very nice, good ridden to the buffet. Only comment is it was unusually warm during the visit and the room I had had no air conditioning. I had to leave windows open so exposed to outside noise, to be fair this noise didn't go on late.

Fast and efficient check in, lovely big room and all facilities in good order. Very comfy bed. Dinner and breakfast the next morning were both served quickly and efficiently despite really good COVID Compliance measures being in place.

Big thank you to the management and staff at the Garfield for making us so welcome (again). Have stayed several times before and welcome and service has always been great. Pet friendly (genuinely 'friendly' - not just 'pet tolerant') and our two terriers start wagging their tails as soon as we pull into the car park... Not been for a while for obvious reasons and this trip arrived ridiculously early for check in after an exhausting all night drive but were welcomed in, fitted in for breakfast and then before 10am given the choice of two rooms. Can't beat that for welcome and service! Hotel is laid out well to deal with current situation and feels very safe and professional. Family dinner in the restaurant tonight - looking forward. Big thanks to everyone on the staff!

Garfield is a good hotel for arriving in Glasgow and starting a tour to the highlands. It was the best value of all four hotels on our trip based on price/comfort. The room was very nice and the atmosphere in the bar very friendly. Staff were also friendly and informative.

Celebrating a friends daughters exam results Ended up having lunch and dinner the service from John Kelly and Lisa was world class Health and safety was a top priority and plenty of hand sanitizers Staff and surroundings plus food fabulous we felt more like family

My first trip away since lockdown, and stopped (as a couple) at the Garfield House on the way down south, using up some credit from a cancelled previous trip REception was behind screens, but it was nice to be remembered as a regular there, and the room was as before, with added sealed bags for coffee and even the TV remote! Dinner was, frankly, a bit disappointing, with a considerably cut down menu and, with the widely spaced tables and muzzled waiter, feeling rather like an isolation ward. The food was fine, as was the beer. The mealtime had to be pre-booked, as did our breakfast slot The night was OK - noisy children in the next room, and then breakfast.... The choice was effectively "take it or leave it" (OK, you could have meat or a veggie option), and pretty much everything came on one tray, although with an unmuzzled waiter this time. The hot food was disappointing, and felt a bit as if it had been reheated just for us. Service was excellent, and I cannot fault the hotel in trying to make us welcome, but (as the title indicates) I will be very glad when the old normal is back!

We stayed at Garfield House for two nights just one day after Covid reopening. The hotel had made great efforts to ensure our stay was well provided for. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel especially if visiitng Glasgow and surrounding area.

My husband and i had our wedding reception at the garfield in june 2019. I am still blown away by the professionslism and caring attitudes of the staff. They take pride in eberything they do and nothing is a bother. The hotel is beautiful, clean and very inviting. We go back regularly for dinner and will always be greatful for how extra special they made our day. Thank you.

This is a great hotel, largely because the staff are excellent. The rooms are comfortable and the food excellent. When arriving the check in was fast and not cluttered with lots of questions or forms. The restaurant was excellent value with lovely staff. Best of all the service was really quick.

Great relaxing hotel. Not a great deal to do around the hotel at night. But Stepps train station is only a 10 min walk and then you could go anywhere :) Room was very spacious and comfortable. Bar is very expensive in my opinion (£4.70) for a pint of IPA. Other than that, just one other minor issue. The poached haddock for breakfast - I'd put serious money on it actually being smoked Basa. Like I said, a minor issue really.

Spend an overnight stay here last week& we're very impressed. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, rooms lovely and food.... Delicious. Large selection on menu at dinner & breakfast. Wine list good too. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

A very good overall hotel with friendly resteraunt team. I had one issue with one bar staff member, but I have fed this back to the maagement team so I will not base my reivew with just that incident as it did not happen before when I have stayed here.

Great staff and service. Rooms were very clean and up to date. Good location short drive to Glasgow city centre and gym nearby. Locals shops around a ten minute walk or a very short drive. Would recommend for a relaxing stay and would stay again.

Stayed here with my husband via a websites dinner bed and breakfast deal. Lovely hotel from outside. Decoration inside was nice. I read a few reviews saying that it was looking like it could be refreshed but we were happy with the decor throughout the hotel. Very modern, clean and comfortable. There was a wedding on while we were there and the wedding party did take over the main bar area. But we happily sat in the bar area of the restaurant. Did not feel the wedding interrupted our stay and did not hear any noice from the reception which is great as in other hotels a wedding can take over a hotel and make it not a relaxing break. We had a set menu for our dinner as part of our stay. The menu was ok but my husband ordered from the main menu as the set menu did not have anything he liked. There was some strange dishes on the menu such as spiced steak salad! I had the Singapore Chicken Noodles which was nice but a bit too oily a sauce, however was served with the largest prawn cracker I have ever seen!!! Great selection of drinks at the bar and prices were great! We upgraded our room to an executive room and it was really large. Nicely decorated and such a comfortable mattress. Very clean. Great toiltettres and tea and coffee making facilities. Loved that there was biscuits and hot chocolate too. Breakfast was really good and has a great selection of breakfast items. I think the breakfast was much better than the dinner. I also like that the hotel offers breakfast in your room as well as other room service options, so that you can stay in your room and relax if prefered. Would stay again at this hotel.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel which I'd chosen as a venue for my husbands 50th birthday dinner after attending a wedding here. Staff were extremely helpful and accomadating. Food was lovely and would recommend and use again.

Arrived at 8.30pm.Welcome was excellent. The gentleman on reception was brilliant explaining everything too us. Restaurant food top notch as usual. Night porter was very understanding with me going out every 2 hours with Archie and Hetty. Breakfast was brilliant all fresh and excellent service.

So looked forward to our Christmas night out which was jan 2020 due to work commitments. Food was atrocious and definitely not worth the money. Meat undercooked, vegetables rock hard and turkey very dry. Very disappointed and won't be going back.

This hotel worked well with the dog as not too restrictive. Food and service are good . Hotel interior could do with a make over but still quite nice. The rooms at the side suit dog owners as it is easy to pop out for the necessaires.

I booked a stay between xmas and new year 28th December - when we first arrived in the room the window was wide open so lots of fresh air coming in but we could smell a little bit of smoke - we unpacked closed the window as room was chilly and went along to bar to have a drink - when we came back the smell of smoke was far stronger obviously previous guests had been smoking heavily in the room and once the window was shut the air no longer getting in meant the smell was worse - curtains were stinking of it once you got close to them - i called reception and they said the only other room was right above the wedding reception so would be very noisy if we moved there & they sent a staff member along to check he could smell it soon as he opened our door and sprayed the room and curtains with fresh spray and promised to come along when we went for dinner in 45 mins time to freshen up further - Dinner was very tasty good portions and very reasonably priced drinks, after dinner we had a few drinks before coming back to the room and you could still smell the smoke although it was a little better - we decided not to change rooms as we wanted to get some sleep and didn't want the noise, instead we opened the window wide to let air in which meant the nights sleep was a little on the chilly side - the next morning on check out I mentioned to the receptionist about it and she refunded some of our money which was appreciated as it wasn't the hotels fault guests had been smoking and they did only have 1 other room available for us which wasn't suitable so they done what they could, i would return to hotel as the place is overall good and very nice staff.

Great service, friendly and professional staff, comfortable room, nice breakfast. Would recommend this for families, couples, get togethers. Decor in the rooms is a bit dated but the bed was very comfortable.

We were blessed to have an amazing Christmas experience at The Garfield House Hotel. From the brilliant Christmas stocking hung outside our door on Christmas Day, the unexpected, but lovely, champagne at breakfast, the absolutely delicious and amazing lunch on Christmas Day to the fantastically customer focused team. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Christmas (my tradition is that I've always cooked and entertained at Christmas for past 30 years) The Garfield have demonstrated how much better Christmas can be! Thank you to Leigh, Lisa, Ross and the team for an absolutely wonderful break x

Lovely clean and friendly hotel, the staff are top class they made our stay a very Pleasant one .My little dog was made very welcome .The food was lovely fresh and tasty .I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed, (two couples), at the Garfield House in November this year. the hotel is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. We ate in the restaurant all three nights and found the choice and quality of the food to be very good. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Overall, excellent value for money and very convenient for sightseeing in Glasgow. I Would definitely recommend.

Best Western in Stepps, very good for motorway links, good rooms and comfy beds. The hotel is looking beautiful with Christmas approaching, so good work whoever puts the festive touch's. The staff here are always pleasant and helpful.

This is a great hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is fantastic. The staff really do take good care of you and it is an all round excellent venue. It is also just 15 minutes taxi drive into Glasgow centre and Queen Street Station.

My brother and his fiance planned a surprise wedding under the guise of a 40th birthday party, the wedding crew were very accommodating during the planning, however on the night the duty manager (come bar manager) decided that despite guests being told that the bar was open until 3 on check in, that he'd close it at around 1.30/1.45. Being one of the few sober people at the wedding, I tried to discuss this with the manager on duty at the time, he told me I had to provide written proof that a 3am close had been agreed and refused to put in writing, on company headed notepaper, that he was the person who had arbitrarily decided to closed the bar despite confirming this verbally to me. A warning to anyone else booking a wedding here, this may be an issue you will face in the future. Outside of this everyone else was pleasant enough and very professional.

3rd time at this hotel and cannot fault it. Little glitch at start as wrong room type booked which was not hotel s fault. Lee sorted it within minutes nothing is too much trouble and she even got someone to lift luggsge to room. Room lovely and cosy and clean Free car park. What a difference a small friendly hotel as opposed to hotels that are suited for business. Breakfast was first class and hot. Staff so friendly. Will definitely return.

The hotel is always clean and the staff always on hand to assist. The rooms are of top quality and comfort. The food in is always of good quality whether breakfast or evening meal. The location is perfect with easy access to the motorway network.

could not find fault. Everything was spot on. Food in restaurant , both evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Hotel very clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend.Location for visiting Glasgow.. Very good car parking facilities.

Had our wedding reception here on the 1st Nov and cannot say enough about the staff. Was a fantastic night from start to finish. John in particular was fantastic. We had the room decorated by LBS events and had Deck and Dance as our entertainment. Would love to do it all again! Apparently the buffet was brilliant but we didnt have any as were too busy dancing the night away. Room was nice and the breakfast was good too. Really enjoyed everything about it. Thank you xxx

This is a great hotel, super friendly staff who are always willing to help. Food in the restaurant was great. Nice atmosphere, plenty of free parking, and good for meetings. The Christmas entertainment looked good too!

The Garfield House Hotel was exceptional, I was there for my sons wedding and all the staff couldn't do enough for anyone that asked. The room was spot on comfy and spotless clean. Would definitely recommend to all.

Our stay at the Garfield was one of our best ever. The friendliness of all the staff and the quality of the service was exceptional. We had the full Scottish breakfast most mornings that set us up for the day. We ate in the restaurant a lot in the evening and the quality of the food for a small out-of-town hotel was amazing. Top marks to both John and Ross in the management team for running everything like clockwork. The friendliness of the staff could not be compared to any other hotel that we have stayed in. The Garfield will be our number 1 choice for the future. Thanks to everyone

Nice hotel, really helpful staff, comfortable rooms and GREAT breakfast, super choices and made fresh (breakfast buffets come no where near). Not much to do in the area but easy to get to Glasgow and to menu in Restaurant varied enough for a few nights stay, Will be back!

The hotel is on the outskirts of Glasgow but is easy to get to by bus or train (bus stop is at the hotel, train is ten minutes). The Desk crew was exceptional. They were friendly and outgoing and knowledgeable. It was always a pleasure to talk to them as we passed by.

Just stayed one night, we were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a lovely evening meal. Excellent staff, who were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definitely recommend.

I had my wedding in this hotel on 28th September 2019. From the moment my husband and I decided to have our big day here, the staff (John Kelly in particular) could not do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The day itself was absolutely perfect with staff working non-stop to ensure our guests had an excellent experience. Despite there being approx. 160 guests in the evening, there were very little queues at the bar etc. and many of our guests commented on the first class service. The meals were beautiful, as were the rooms. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who was thinking of booking it.

I can only imagine the hotel is broke as the cost cutting measure are rediculous. All of the communal lights are on movement sensors so everywhere you go as you walk out of your room is in complete darkness until they catch up and come on. It's so depressing. There was one sheet of paper left on my toilet roll but this was left rather than being replaced! Everything else is just tired and old fashioned. More like a 1990's B&B which I would imagine was the last time it had any updating. It's so dark and drab, completely uninspiring. Travelling with work can be hard enough without being completely depressed by your surroundings. There are so many great places around ibam amazed hotels like this stay in business. In a way it would be easier if they didnt, that way people like me would not accidentally book into them. As my school teachers would say, could do a lot better.

Very cosy and warm place to stay. Food was top class, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. In the bar you have a variety of Scotch Whiskey's and Scottish gin to sample. Stayed overnight on a work trip, and would definitely stay here again.

Well just got home from Glasgow the hotel is a great place to base yourself to visit the city.The booking in process was nice and easy we had an early dinner the staff were excellent.nothing to much trouble for them. We upgraded our room it was very spacious room lovely views the hotel itself was spotless from what we seen breakfast was really good so my wife said.I would not hesitate to visit again.

Recently visited here for a funeral meal and I wasnt impressed at all. We tried to order more drinks between courses and got told we had to wait until mains were served which was a bit strange. The main came and the steak pie was lovely but cant say the same for the veg. "Chatoney" Carrots were hard and looked unwashed, 1 overcooked piece of broccoli and tasteless mash potato. I also felt the menus were very impersonal .

Disappointing on this occassion. Upgrade to executive room was not worth it. No different from standard room except that the room itself was perhaps a little larger. Heating was faulty - managed to get an old style radiator working but then could not get it to turn off. Food not up to the usual high standard for this establishment, however, the service and staff were excellent

Be sure before booking that they do have not have an event on as you won't sleep. Also having booked bed and breakfast they did not have any bread on the Sunday morning to have toast! Pretty poor showing for an expensive hotel.

The team, and the care they show to guests to ensure they have a great hotel experience (home from home) are why I keep coming back. Yes, things can be ‘wrong' but this team go above and beyond to remedy / rectify and improve your stay. The team also readily welcome our old Lady (15 year old Westie) and that means so much. I can not recommend Garfield House and Leigh, Ross, Lisa and Ian enough.

Excellent Sunday dinner! Host the roast is fantastic value for money. £29 for 4 people. Highly recommend. Food s excellent and service/staff go the extramile to accommodate diners requests. We had special drinks requests and asked the to leave fish out of the salad which they did with no problem

We stayed here for a couple of nights it was ok staff friendly enough, Food was quite expensive for what there was to choose from. My husband had something in the room which I went to order from the bar and pay for it rather than order room service. Not impressed

If you want a hotel outside Glasgow City Centre then this is the one. 15 mins on train into Queen Street station and hotel is no more than a 10 min walk. The hotel itself provides 4 star accommodation, 4 star service, 4 star staff. We received a very warm welcome from Iain who also provided lots of local information. Breakfast was excellent too and set us up for the day. Andrew and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very easy to find , and ample free parking. The check in was very easy and quick with everything explained very clearly. The hotel has plenty of character and makes you feel at home. The room was good and spotless with tea/coffee facilities. The bed was very comfortable and a sound sleep was had. The evening meal I had two courses and again my order was taken quickly and drink delivered to table. I also had breakfast which was the same you could have whatever you fancied and cooked how you like. In all I will be straying here again without a doubt. Keep iy up Best Western.

Visited the bar and grill earlier today,have not been to the Garfield for many years,the food was substandard and expensive for what you got, a party of 3 , we had prawn cocktail,tempura prawns,and soup,you can't make fabulous food if the ingredients are substandard, next we had steak,burger,and steak pie,the carrots served with the meal were shocking the potatoes tasteless,I left most of my steak dinner,and the burger was half eaten,we had a bottle of average wine and the bill was £100.00, I enjoy going out for dinner and don't mind paying if the food is good but this was shocking rotten,the staff waiting on the table were on the other very nice. Avoid this place and spend your money on decent food..

Took my family out to lunch to celebrate my daughters great exam results. Very welcoming staff. Lovely Hotel . Good choice of menu which was delicious. Never felt rushed in any way as we sat and chatted quite a while. Had a great lunch and will definitely be back .

A pleasant hotel close enough to Glasgow but far enough out to be reasonably priced. Comfortable, well appointed room although very warm owing to the weather. A fan would have been good but we didn't ask for one so, our fault really. The staff were very good and the reception clerk very helpful when we needed local area advice to find a place to get a tyre repaired. This might sound trivial but it was very welcome to two tired and stressed travellers. We didn't take our evening meal here so cannot comment on the resturant for that. However, breakfast was excellent; the 'Full Scottish' comes highly recommended. I do love Tatty Scones. Checkout was uneventful and a cheery wave saw us on our way.

Excellent accommodation and very helpful and friendly staff. Was attending a wedding and it was a excellent venue which made the event more enjoyable. Stayed overnight and the room was first class, clean and fresh decor and tastefully decorated and furnished.

Looked for a “chill out” one night stay.. Wow! Were we disappointed NOT AT ALL, in fact we were bowled over. From walking in, we found the whole staff were amazing. Friendly, Smiles, and it really felt they had time for you.. and were totally genuine. Our room was great, we had two westies, and they just felt really at home. Our evening meal was excellent... Can't wait to go back again.

Booked this hotel in a bit of a rush and chose from list of usual contenders, Travel Lodge, Premier Inn etc. So pleased I chose this one. It is a nice hotel with a wee bit of character inside and out. The food was lovely, especially the evening meals. There is a nice ambience and the staff seem happy in their work which is something I always look for. The room was a good size , spotless and comfortable.

This hotel is slightly secluded, yet still accessible to the main roads and city-centre only 15mins away. Very attentive and friendly staff, lovely elegant room that was clean, airy and a good size. Cooked breakfast was very good. Overall, good value.

The hotel in itself is a great stay, the 2nd time we have stayed and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The 4 stars are based on the accommodation! We stayed for dinner this time and it was not good! We actually never paid for our mains they were so poor! We decided to skip breakfast and head out due to dinner being so poor! The girl who served at dinner was really nice and helpful, and apologetic! I felt the drinks were quite overpriced also!Would stay again but would plan around dinner to avoid eating at the hotel!

Great hotel with easy access into the heart of Glasgow. Helpful and pleasant staff at the check in desk set the tone for the whole stay. Stopped in room 48 which was more of a suite than a room with a bathroom the size of some generic hotel bedrooms I've stayed in. Great menu to choose from with some traditional Scottish food for us southerners. Good breakfast selection to choose from. Overall a great hotel to stop in when needing a base near Glasgow.

What a wonderful birthday lunch. The hotel advertised a birthday lunch which included a cake. The surroundings, food and service were exemplary. Special mention to the staff well dressed, high standard of training and nothing to fault. If anything was requested it was provided and you never had to ask twice. Well done everyone at The Garfield a great team providing excellent service.

Because of my work I have to stay around the UK and Scotland. I've tried a few hotels but I have found the Garfield very friendly and a home from home. Staff and service is 2nd to none. Wouldn't stay anywhere else now while in Glasgow.

Stayed fot 1 night on a dbb basis for a tribute night. Check in fast and easy. Bar comfortable but a wee bit pricey. Room clean with a very comfortable bed and a lovely hot shower. Ample tea and coffee fixings. Meal for tribute night as expected when catering for large numbers. Breakfast lovely and fresh.

This hotel is a right little gem. There are nice walks for our dog adjacent to the hotel. The food and choice of beer was very good and extremely good value. Staff were genuinely friendly. The room and reception areas were very comfortable and appeared to have been recently renovated.

I was at this hotel for a DBB and Jersey Boy tribute night. Everything was good apart from the prices in the bar! The last time i was charged like that was when a wounded elephant attacked me in Africa.

My wife and I have just returned home having spent a few wonderful days at Garfield House. We cannot fault this hotel. All the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and extremely polite and professional. The room was immaculate, the food in the evening and breakfast outstanding. There were wedding parties on four of the days we were there but staff coped remarkably well. The service was quite superb and despie being so busy we were cared for extremely well. As I have said Garfield House hotel will always be our first choice when visiting the area.

We had a three day stay at Garfield House and were so happy and well treated here we were reluctant to leave. The employees here have fantastic teamwork. There is no weak link. The beautiful old home has been tastefully extended. The place is sparklingly clean. Reception was always manned by friendly and welcoming people. Food was sensational. Waiters were efficient. Bar-tender easy going. Everything has been thought through. Free wifi that works first time. Safe and spacious car park. I loved every moment and thank everyone who made our stay so memorable. Highly recommended.

Stayed in a suite and it was absolutely fantastic - far exceeded all expectations. Restaurant food superb, especially the fish. Puddings also great and I thought at £4.95 good value too. Breakfast was good and hot food cooked to order. We will be back.

Oh what a lovely find the Best Western Garfield House! From the minute you walk in the door to the reception you get a warm and friendly greeting. The staff are all lovely, really helpful, professional and nothing is to much trouble! The sun was shinning through the windows and what a treat 21degrees in May! I had tea and shortbread biscuits and the shortbread biscuits were melt in your mouth! Thank you Garfield House!

Overall experience was excellent and the service was first class with attention to detail. The rooms were very cosy and my room was very quiet. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Plenty of parking space which you don't find in all hotels.

Tried the Garfield again after about 2-3 years since we last went. Took the full family - 7 people. And we had a evening meal. Food was ok, but 4 of us all commented: * Lamb kebab was sticks of dry mined meat, and was left by both people as 'yuck' * Fish and chips - my preference is fluffy chips, rather than huge chunky that were greasy * Chicken wings - rather than drizzled in sauces or separate sauce it was in a sauce soup, which made eating them really difficult * Steak was priced like a high class place in the centre of Glasgow. we avoided. Service was ok.

Just back from a two night stay at this hotel what can I say just beautiful. From the entrance to the bedroom I couldn't fault the hotel. We booked a executive room and it definitely lived up to its name. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay here again

Have met up here with friends several times over the past few years. It's halfway between where we both stay. Always a friendly welcome and the staff are excellent. I was on business in Scotland and needed to find a hotel that was convenient for both Glasgow and Falkirk. Having booked a one night stay at the Garfield House Hotel I have to say that I was very impressed from the spacious car park to the very warm welcome from the receptionist and the comfy warm room with everything you could need for your stay.

Stayed at this hotel before and the standards never disappoint, the hotel is clean the rooms I have stayed in are excellent, the breakfast is excellent. Last but not least the staff are a credit to this hotel making you feel at home from the minute you walk in.

I have visited the Garfield on a number of occasions as I have found the food to be very good indeed and reasonably priced. On our most recent visit we were left waiting for our main course for a very long time and had actually been forgotten about when all the other lunch time diners had gone. When the mistake was discovered the rest of our order was served promptly with sincere apologies and the food was fresh and good, however when I asked for the bill the manager said there was no bill and apologised again for the delay. This was a much appreciated gesture on the part of the management and I will definitely return again soon.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Every member of staff we came in contact with was lovely - really welcoming and friendly. The menu was excellent with plenty of choices. The food was lovely and we were never made to feel rushed. Id definitely recommend The Garfield. And will definitely be back!

Hotel good. Room sizes variable but all adequate. No safe or refrigerator and no elevator. Restaurant serves very good food at a reasonable price. Breakfast very good value. Staff excellent, very friendly and helpful.

I have recently married and the Garfield was where I held my reception. I first choose the Garfield because of the welcoming and overall loveliness of the staff who go out their way to make you happy. I had a fantastic wedding day and it was all thanks to the organisation and preparedness of the Garfield making sure everything was put together, making our wedding day a day to remember always. I cannot thank John Kelly enough for his time and effort into our wedding day and for anyone else who helped put together myself and husbands special day. I know that my guests had a wonderful time as did I and my husband and I highly highly recommend anyone to have their reception or wedding here or to just stay in general! My daughter got married on 30 March 2019 and we held the reception at the Garfield Hotel. What a wonderful choice for a venue! John Kelly (the face of the Garfield) and the rest of his excellent staff ensured that my daughters big day went "without a hitch" and will remain an event that we shall never forget. The hotel is beautiful (inside and out) the rooms are spotlessly clean and modern, the food was amazing and the attitude of the staff throughout the day and the following day (for those of us who stayed over) was second to none as everyone was so nice and thoroughly professional. It does not surprise me this venue won Wedding Venue of the year two years in a row. Seriously, if you are looking to stay at a "top notch hotel" or host a wedding - look no further! A big thank you to everyone at the Garfield - what a wonderful wedding you hosted for us!

Lovely staff, polite and approachable, helpful and friendly. Comfy beds, clean rooms and a good choice of food. Lovely to eat somewhere with healthier options, recommend the Singapore chicken if you like spicy.

Wedding reception was here a long time ago and the hotel is in better shape than us! Nice surroundings and pleasant bar with good staff, polite, aware and proactive. The sandwiches were wholesome, freshly prepared and substantially proportioned. The soup was on the cool side but nevertheless palatable and tasty. A welcome return.

Stayed at the Garfield for the last 2 weeks on business. extremely friendly staff, lovely bedrooms and public spaces. Food was excellent as was the selection of drinks. Definitely would recommend this hotel without reservation.

Agree with all the other reviews, hotel was great. Booked an executive room as there were no standard doubles available. Room was vast with a high ceilings & large windows. Nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. Communal areas were also very good as was the restaurant food. Hotel car park was out of bounds due to resurfacing but received a courtesy call in the afternoon which was a nice touch. Ample side street parking next to the hotel. Will book again in the future.

I would never stay here again. Noisy all night long with functions, snooty staff, food below parr, fraudulently overcharged and they refused to put it right. The worst Best Western ever stayed in. NEVER again.

Very conveniently located for visiting Glasgow on the way South to England. The hotel was very easy to find and get to from the motorway. There was plenty of parking space and the staff were considerate and very helpful.

Overall a really nice stay, slightly let down on first morning as no hot water in room and wife had to take a cold shower. Staff were onto the problem quickly and whilst we were then out all day there was plenty hot water int he evening upon return. It was also an extremely windy night on Saturday and there was a vibration on the windows which disturbed our sleep but that was no ones fault to be honest, just the Scottish weather. Very good breakfast and great winter deal. Would happily come back to this hotel again - staff very friendly and helpful. All in all a great 2 night stay

Picked best western garfield house purely by chance. Typical Best Western standard hotel, however dinner was sublime. Not had much better (Haggis to start followed by fish and chips) in any hotel resteraunt I've stayed. Well done to the entire team.

I've been here before, but not for a while, so it was nice to be back. Originally booked for 3 nights, then a short notice extension to 5, which the staff took in their stride, including moving me from one room to another while I was away at work. A twin room was a bit uncomfortable - I sprawl into the bed and found myself falling out, but the double room that followed was excellent. WiFi was very good, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to work. The only change I would make would be a power socket by the bed DInners were good, but breakfast was a little hit and miss - a better continental selection would have been nice. Staff were, without exception, excellent!

My experience was excellent, arriving late staff were great, room was spacious comfortable and everything was to hand. Following morning breakfast was excellent, much better, I'm guess8ng than the premier inn near by

This hotel is a little gem away from the busy city with the local train station a 5 mins walk away, the rooms decorated lovely and great staff, breakfast fantastic. The bar was set out great and again the staff so helpful

My husband and I were forced to take refuge in the Garfield due to a house fire. We didn't expect to be there long but were there for 4 weeks. First of all from the time my husband called the day of the fire to the last each and every member of a staff were friendly, understanding and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We also have 2 dogs which I thought would cause issues but this couldnt be further from the truth. After finding out We would be there for a prolonged period of time we contacted reception to extend our stay. My husband could see that the reception staff moved a lot of folk to other rooms and several were given free upgrades just so we could stay in the room we were originally given. We were more than willing to move but the staff were adamant that we would be as inconvenienced as possible. We were in room 43 which was a blessing as we ended up having to stay for 4 weeks. The room was a substantial size and the 4 of us were very comfortable. I don't want to single out any member of staff purely because every member of staff are a credit to the hotel. From reception to housekeeping to waiting staff, everyone made us feel welcome and my 8 month old pup will miss the many new friends she made The house keeping staff were very understanding to the fact we couldn't allow them access every day and ensured we had plenty of towels and bed linen. Were there negatives, of course there were, you can't stay in the 1 place for 4 weeks without encountering issues, however, I will not mention any here as that would be unfair to the hotel as we did not highlight any very minor issues to any of the staff. If we did i know they would have been addressed and rectified very quickly. My husband and I can't thank the hotel and staff enough for making our stay as comfortable as possible in the circumstances we found ourselves in. I have read many reviews regarding the noise. Whilst we were there the venue hosted many parties. Each and every one looked very professionally decorated and well attended. I can honestly say neither myself or the dogs heard any noise and our room overlooked the car park. I would love to stay here again under better circumstances and would definately book for a special occasion

We had a very good 2nd stay here to go to a meeting in Glasgow. Found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Went into the city by bus and came back on the train, both were easy. Had a very good breakfast ( even for our vegan diet) which was served by a very pleasant female. Would return again as it's also so easy to park there.

We have been going to Hogmanay Balls for the last 16 years and expect nothing but the best.We also have 1 or 2 overnight stays a month throughout the year so we know exactly what we like.I have to say Hogmanay 2018 then New Year's Day 2019 has been the best ever and we will certainly be returning this year.Looking forward to it already.

I could not be happier with our stay at the Garfield House Hotel! The staff were very accommodating in terms of our last minute reservation and with two tired children in tow they were so thoughtful in giving them extra biscuits and hot chocolate when we arrived. The room was very spacious and clean, modern and very fresh looking with a lovely view of the nearby farm field. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with a great selection of cold and cooked items, including a great vegetarian breakfast. I cannot recommend the hotel enough and would encourage anyone to stay here.

Stayed here for 2 nights with our small dog. The receptionist was kind to change us to a downstairs room as we had our dog with us... more than happy with the fabulous room and facilities. Great place to stay... definately be back again.

We stayed boxing Day, The staff were friendly, the restaurant was very good excellent evening meal and breakfast was great. The hotel was clean, comfortable and convenient. We got a great deal through Booking.com £30 cheaper than the Premier Inn opposite!!!

Home from home, the most welcoming staff, comfortable room, great food, and reasonably priced. This is always my first choice when staying in the area. Some hotels are closer to where I need to work, but a few extra miles is worthwhile.

My first visit to this Hotel. It is quite splendid with outstanding staff, who were helpful and professional throughout my stay with a small group of friends. My room was very comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Fully equipped with everything I needed for my stay. I dined in the restaurant, the menu was varied and offered a significant variety to cater for dietary requirements, it was well presented and well cooked. The breakfasts were freshly prepared and again varied to meet needs. I was very impressed and I tend to stay there again.

Visited with my elderly Aunt and the staff were very good at looking after her and us all, really friendly and attentive. Food was nice. I'd prawn cocktail to start, then the Sunday roast, followed by fruit crumble and coffee. All good, though the beef was a bit over done. Shame the place was so quiet. Look forward to our next visit and again thanks to the waitresses for looking after us so well!

Spent 3 nights here on business. The room was more than adequate even though the room was over looking car park and busy road the noise was minimal. All the staff very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was beautifully cooked and any changes where not a problem. Would recommend stopping here if in the area.

Garfield House hotel, Stepps, is a very comfortable, friendly, clean hotel in an excellent location . It's close to the motorway network, very convenient for visiting Glasgow or exploring the central lowlands of Scotland. The breakfasts are cooked to order, and very tasty, with a good choice, and the restaurant food is excellent and not overpriced. The room we had was large and comfortable, and quiet even though there was a wedding in the hotel one day. Altogether I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly for anyone visiting Glasgow.

If your on a business trip then you're most likely to be shoved in the short stay room. Lots of wood cladding, it's ok! If you end up in the single occupancy room that I got it had a small single bed and you could quite easily turned the main light off, flushed the loo and checked if the door had closed properly all from lying in bad.. know what I'm saying? But I did have good food and friendly staff. 8/10.

We booked for 3 nights, bed & breakfast. We had dinner on 2 of the nights. The receptionist, Christine, was lovely & so helpful. Our room, 47, was brilliantly appointed, we wanted for nothing! The breakfasts were great, as were the evening meals. Parking was very easy in the large car park. The train station is within easy walking distance & we were into Queen Street, Glasgow within 20 minutes, for only £7.00 return for the 2 of us. I would have given it 5 stars, but, the waiting staff don't always write your orders down, consequently, my haggis should have had the peppercorn sauce served separately, but it came swimming in it. At breakfast, they want you to order straightaway, & so my husbands porridge arrived before he had finished his fruit, & then the grilled tomatoes appeared. It all had to go back to keep warm. Please management sort this little problem out!! It wasn't just on our table. We will be back in March!

Returned again the room was on ground floor with two single beds! We did book a double and asked for room on 1 st floor. Beds were inferior, but enjoyed our stay with personnel all being pleasant and friendly We got the room B&B at a very good rate.

I am so sad to see this place rapidly going down hill in terms of the food that they serve in the restaurant. We were there about a year ago and swore we would not be back due to the tasteless food that we got - tonight we gave it another chance and it's not any better. Garfield house was never like this. We ate there regularly and We had our wedding here 6 years ago - that's how much we had confidence in the place and in the food. Staff are lovely and very attentive but the food is just not up to standard any more in my opinion. If the staff were not as nice I would have gave this 1 star.

Alfie has had a lovely stay at the hotel being very spoilt with all the staff loving him. He would like to say thank you to the breakfast chef and staff for his sausages. First visit here as I didn't know this place existed. Had a really nice lunch, we had sandwiches and breadcrumbed haddock with chips, all lovely. My only complaint was the coffee which tasted just like hot milk. Would return though I'll just just need to have a glass of wine instead!

Just back from an overnighter tribute cabaret. Very enjoyable night. Three course dinner was delicious. Well presented and efficiently served by a very young, but friendly and courteous staff. Drink prices were a little steep, but it is a hotel. Tribute cabaret (Diana Ross / Motown / Soul revue) was excellent. Think everyone had a very enjoyable night. Room was well appointed, with all the necessary equipment, including a large , comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. Room looked like it had just been refurbished, and had been very tastefully done. Breakfast was delicious, served by a very pleasant, and helpful staff. First time at this country house styled hotel. Was very impressed with everything especially comfort, food , and staff. Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

Stayed overnight for a wedding reception. Wedding was fabulous. Staff at hotel extremely helpful. Room had all that was required and was immaculate. Only downfall was breakfast. My friend asked for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon to be told there was no salmon ... on a Saturday with a hotel full of wedding guests was a tad poor. Other than that our stay was very pleasant and a great time spent by all.

We stayed here the last week, it is in the outside of Glasgow, the hotel offers free parking. We have been received by a very nice gentleman. Unfortunately we had bad luck because the corridors are being restored right now. The rooms altough smalls are very cozy and warm, they offer cafe service and enough amenities. The bed and the pillows are great. The breakfast was normal. We did the check-out with the same gentleman , my big reggards from Mexico to him. I do recommend this hotel.

I had my wedding here on 16/9/18 after cancelling our previous venue. John Kelly was exceptional as was Ross. The honeymoon suite is amazing all staff were fantastic. John even ensured both me and my hubby had time to reflect over our day. He even ensured the company that supplied my LED floor were brought to task which I thoroughly appreciated. Had an amazing day and would thoroughly recommend. Pauline

I'm not normally a fan of Best Western hotels, but this hotel is the exception! I couldn't find a fault if I tried! The hotel is easy to find and there is plenty free parking. It's in a quiet location too, backing onto fields and set well back from the road. Smooth and quick check-in, large and very comfortable room, pretty well equipped and spotlessly clean. Good shower too. I arrived very tired so I didn't bother with dinner, but breakfast was freshly cooked and better than average. All the staff were cheerful too, which generally bodes well for any hotel. All in all, I'll happily stay again when next in the area!

My hubby and I were taken here on Saturday night by relatives for a belated 60th birthday meal for myself. The restaurant had a nice ambience and we have a very pleasant waitress serving us who was very accommodating with our food special requests. This is our second visit here and have say that this time the food was not nearly to the standard as previous - perhaps a different chef.

This hotels first impressions from the outside were average but once inside everything else was 5*. We were upgraded to their top room, excellent. It did not stop there as the food in the restaurant was also 5*. My wife who is a vegetarian had a top quality meal. Stuffed Sweet potato, not had this type of meal before. It's always been sweet potato-fries as an addition. It was really tasty and different, well done to the chef. My steak burger was also excellent. A very enjoyable meal with very friendly service could no fault this hotel and its food.

Most enjoyable, slightly disappointed with "double executive" room as felt it was no more than a double, and was far inferior to the double executive room I did see.. However it was a beautiful, adequate room so did not deflect from everything else.. Just can't help feeling slightly fobbed off..??

Lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff . The food is excellent and the breakfast is just right to give you the perfect start to the day. The best place to stay after a long hard day on the business trail comfy rooms and a good nights sleep what else could you wish for

Arrived in the restaurant at 18.15. Got drink straight away then waited 20 minutes for my order to be taken. Main course was shoved down in front of me. No offer of any condiments as the waiter rushed away. Finished drink but no offer of another. Go to bar but barman is too busy so go back to table and finish the main course. Plate is finally taken from table at 19.45 desert menu is offered but I don't know how long this will take and will not enjoy it the mood I'm in. I notice the diner on the next table has been offered a drink in the meantime. The food was very good btw.

We booked a twin - but were upgraded to accommodate the Spanish cycling team who were taking part in the European Games! A massive room with enough space to seat at least 10 people, a comfortable bed and a good clean bathroom. Unfortunately the food let the place down - very unimaginative and not well prepared. If a good chef could be persuaded to take on this place it would easily make 4 stars!

Having stayed here a couple of times I can say that this is a great business stop. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food and service doesn't leave you wanting. Very handy location for the surrounding business estate.

We stayed at the Garfield House hotel for our first wedding anniversary as we had our wedding reception in this hotel. The staff are friendly and the food is very good, we plan to return every year for our wedding anniversary in the same suite.

It's always a pleasure to return here. I've been staying here when work necessitates for probably 15 years now and have found it to be consistent in excellent. Good food, and not a microwave to be heard-proper food with healthy choices. Staff are friendly and caring.

We stayed four nights at the Garfield Best Western, Glasgow Scotland. The hotel is lovely, very friendly and clean! The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. We especially enjoyed the restaurant and the Beef Steak Pie! We were about a 15 minute drive from the City Centre, easily accessible using Bus 38 C which dropped us off at the front of the hotel.

My husband and I were here for our nieces wedding on a beautiful, sunny July day. Unfortunately, our first impression was marred by the horrendous stench of sewage which greeted us running down the front steps and into the gardens of the hotel. Surely an emergency plumber could have been called given the special occasion taking place?? The bar area was far too small for the number of guests in attendance, after dinner they opened another room with tables and chairs aplenty, this room should have been opened throughout the day to avoid people having to stand around before and after the ceremony. The bar itself was tiny and the staff most unpleasant. At one point there was only one barmaid serving and my husband waited in line for around 25 minutes. It was as though the wedding was a surprise to them! The attitude of one barmaid in particular was disgusting. We were advised by our family that there were drinks included for us, and, while I understand the staff have to check if we have had our complimentary drink when serving us, barking “have you already had your free drink?” at guests is definitely not the best way to go about it. A lesson in manners and customer care would not have gone amiss here. When dinner was announced, they immediately turned the lights off in the bar and shouted that the bar was closed. Those who were waiting in line just had to go without being served. When everyone was seated for dinner, we were told the speeches were before the meal, however, no staff came around to offer drinks (which we know were already paid for) which unfortunately meant we had no drink to raise a glass to any of the toasts. Unacceptable standard from the hotel as far as I am concerned. One tiny jug of water for a table of ten meant there wasn't even enough of that to go around so we were forced to raise empty glasses. The dinner was ok. The soup was nice and the main and dessert was fine for me. I had to ask three times for a jug of water for the table. While we enjoyed the wedding and our time with family, I am sad and disappointed that this hotel badly let down the wedding party with the shockingly poor service. If you want advice, avoid this place!

All the staff were extremely helpful. The invalid room was well appointed and maintained. The menu offered plenty of choice. Three was at extensive range of wines and whisk. We have stayed at this hotel several times and would thoroughly recommend it

Attending our Niece's wedding in the Garfield and we were met at the door by the stench of sewage, presumably from a burst pipe. Inside, a less than friendly barmaid served us, charging £7.95 for a bottle of prosseco which filled a champagne flute. The wedding ceremony went well but the wedding dinner was sparse, barely children's portions. We were staying the night so off to a stifling hot bedroom, no aircon and only a small hopper window to open. The room was so hot my wife got up during the night and fainted in the toilet. Result? A visit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in the morning and 2 cracked ribs. We left the hotel, passing the beautiful aroma of stinking sewage on the way to the car.

Found large shirt pin in bed (my partner bleeds easily so that was scary), dirty sock behind bed, bathroom fan didn't work, bathroom light flickered on and off. To top it all off there was a function on directly below us in the bar downstairs. As if it wasn't bad enough that we couldn't use the lounge/bar, the music was so ridiculously loud that it made the floor vibrate. This continued until 12am. Got hardly any sleep as a result.

I stay locally to this hotel but needed a couple of quiet nights to complete a work project. Stayed 15-16 June in executive double and i can honestly say it was perfect. Check in and out was effortless, room was perfect and the view helped enormously. I must Complement the Housekeeping staff who were extremely nice and are a credit to the Hotel.

This is a lovely well run hotel, with great friendly helpful staff and great food! The location is about 20 minutes outside of Glasgow City Centre, ideal for a conference, or a nice treat for an overnight stay!

Stayed in the Best Western Garfield for 2 nights for business. I drove here from the airport but there is a station not too far away. There isn't much in the immediate area, there are some restaurants but not a wide selection. Lots of places deliver to here on Just eat if you wish though. I was in a Standard Double and it was a good room, a touch on the cosy side but ideal for a single traveller like me, bath was a bit small, wouldn't be comfortable for a tall person. The room only had a small window so naturally light was only average. My room was located on the ground floor, I was worried when I aw it was close to the bar but it was a weekday so there was no noise, in fact it was very quiet the first night, second night the person next door had the TV on too late and then had a loud phone call at 7am…..not the hotels fault I just wish people could at least try and think of others. I had room service both nights and the food was good but I did find the thick cut homestyle chips nice but a bit too greasy. Breakfast was above average and the scrambled eggs were excellent, second day was not quite as good, pastries were a little dry and they had run out of ketchup. Staff were very friendly indeed and the hotel public areas were very clean as was the room. Water pressure was excellent but the water wasn't very hot on the 2nd morning, so might indicate you'll have trouble having a hot morning shower when it's busier. Room had a medium sized TV, a desk, decent amount of storage and it's own electric heater, which was a bit of a fiddle to get working when the room felt a bit cold. Bed and bedding was of good standard and I had good sleep both nights, the curtains also provided excellent blackout. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good and there was a suitable amount of electric sockets, no USB charging ports though, did have a very small analogue radio styled to look like a CRT TV, that was a bit of an odd extra. Check in with quick and easy and check out was also. Plenty of parking on site. Would definitely stay here again, an excellent 3 star hotel but I did think it was quite expensive for a 3 star.

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding. Lovely room, comfy bed, very clean. Impressed with the housekeeping service. Tasty breakfast. Excellent food at the wedding. Only negative - no hot water on Sunday morning.

At 6:45am we were woken by loud bangs, men shouting back and forward to each other and being extremely inconsiderate outside our room window; only to realise it was the delivery men for the bar downstairs. This went on for about 35-40 minutes. Really upsetting as our stay up until now was great and everyone was extremely accommodating and attentive, just a shame that something like this has ruined our stay.

My husband took me to the restaurant on my request as we haven't been in ages and I wanted a nice lunch. Wasn't disappointed, the food was amazing, would highly recommend if you haven't been before or like us not been years. The only negative was that it took us ages to get served as the staff thought each other was serving us! Once we got the order in it was all good, even got money off our bill so that was a lovely birthday treat! Very friendly staff and very apologetic, will definitely be back again.

i would highly recommend stopping at this hotel , lovely hotel and very friendly and helpful staff . i have stayed here before on many occasions and will not hesitate to stop here in the future .the hotel has never let me down .

I stayed here on Friday 01/06/2018 as we were going to a concert at Hampden Park. The hotel was clean and reception staff spot on. Our purpose was strictly bed and breakfast. Room was clean and spacious, bed was very comfy. Everything was spot on until the following morning. The waiting staff/chef must have had a late Friday night themselves! We were greeted and seated very nicely by the waiting staff, we were asked if we wanted tea/coffee and toast white or brown..... We asked for white and brown turned up. No real bother we weren't fussed. I managed to get the attention of a waiter after about 20 minutes of waiting to order two full breakfasts. Another couple were seated about 15 minutes after us just behind us, they ordered well after is, cancelled their ordr, then re-ordered again and received their order before we got ours and our orders were exactly the same! 10 minutes after this and a word in the waitress' ear we had to re-ordered as the chef had apparently misplaced our order! The breakfasts came out and we're missing items, we couldn't believe it could be so wrong! We asked for white toast again but we received brown again and then the waiter turned up with a random pot of tea we hadn't ordered. The staff were very friendly but considering it was so quiet in there I couldn't believe how poor the service was. Will not be staying again for that price with such poor service.

We were NOT told in advance of our 3 night stay that there was to be 3 nights of extremely loud music from a tribute act on the Friday night followed by a wedding both on the Saturday & Sunday night. Our room was directly above all the noise (No 3) and although the music stopped at midnight the sound of drunken guests went on for longer! There were people knocking on our room door and running away obviously thinking we were in their wedding party. The hotel is far too small to escape the sound of the loud music. This was not a cheap hotel as the room rate was more than some 4/5 star hotels in central Glasgow and the hotel a lot smaller than we expected. We definitely think the hotel had an obligation to forewarn us of the noise expectancy either at booking or definitely before our arrival but to not mention it at all and to put us in the room over the party and bar area was totally unacceptable especially when we weren't there to party!

Not that along ago i went here with my friend and as always the staff were welcoming and happy. When i myself had The Best burger again and the nice thick chips i ate all of it to prove how good it was. Lucy my friend ate the Double decker cheese sandwich with the totella chips it came with salad and lentil soup. My mum also ate but i don't know what is was i think it was fish soup

The Garfield has weddings down to a fine art. The package we booked was amazing value, the day was extremely well organised, and nothing was any trouble to them at all. John, Cara and their team are an absolute credit to the hotel. From housekeeping to waiters, to bar staff, to the restaurant team led by Ross - the staff are nothing short of fantastic. We will always remember our wedding day for all the right reasons. The Garfield will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I have stayed here before, but not for a while, so it was good to be back. I had a single room (hoped for an upgrade as an "elite customer" at BW, but it was not to be. Facilities were good - a decent desk, a good bathroom but the bed was on castors and rocked whenever you moved in it - I do not expect seasickness as a hazard normally, but this got me worried! Dinners were uniformly excellent every nice - my nephew joined me one day and commented on how good they were, and restaurant service was excellent. Breakfast was good but service one day was very slow (1/2 hour between arriving and receiving a hot breakfast) . I did complain and was told there were staffing issues that morning. Every other day was fast service with an excellent fryup to sort my cholesterol for the rest of the day. Good choice of drinks, but I stuck to the excellent "East Coast IPA" Stepps is a bit out of the way, but I was into Central Glasgow within about 30 minutes by train or 45 by bus, and leaving a car out of the city makes live so much easier.

Had a nice stay here. Room was clean and I really liked the bed. The receptionist was funny when we checked in. Pretty standard place, quiet, out of the way, but it did the trick for sure. Room was cold when I got into it, but boy, do the heaters ever kick in when you fire them up! Great sleep. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet stay, away from the hustle and bustle.

My wife and I stayed for two nights and could not have been happier. From the moment we checked in until we left we had a lovely time. All the staff from the receptionist, to the cleaners to the restaurant people were fantastic. Thoroughly professional, friendly, caring service is guaranteed. The meals we had both dinner and breakfast were a delight. Whenever we come North I always check availability of Garfield House!

My daughters wedding reception was held in The Garfield on 14 April 2018. With 12 weeks to go we cancelled original venue and booked the Garfield I can honestly say that was the best decision we made. We had a fantastic day and I would like to thank everyone at The Garfield for helping making this a wonderful occasion. The meal was great and the rooms were excellent. We arrived here after our flight. We landed in a wedding party that took place. The friendly staff worked tirelessly to get our room ready in time. We spend 1,5 hour near Frankfield Loch, which was a 5 minute drive, with our dog Bram. We walked around the loch. In our room we ordered room service and while the wedding was at full swing, we heared nothing in our lovely large room. The service was quickly and with care and love. The next day we had after a day in Glasgow a dinner in the Bar and Grill. Nice staff and good food. Our experience with reception was very warm and all were committed to give us a nice stay. I only woke up at night while a wedding guest went to bed, and his floor made a cracking noise in our room like he was next to the bed. We experienced that as a typical historic noise that belonged to the building, region and our holiday experience. Whooooo ghosts….

The hotel is very comfortable, the staff are very welcoming. The hotel is approximately 25 minutes away from the airport, it's a straight forward trip down the M8 to junction 12 were we turned off. We asked the gentleman behind the desk at check in to recommend a local restaurant. He recommended The Indian Kitchen restaurant 1.2 miles away, which was absolutely brilliant! Thanks

Myself and my husband always try to get away for an overnight stay without the kids a few times a year. We have been to the Garfield for dinner before but never an overnight stay, however we had heard good reviews before so thought we would give it a try. We went with my in-laws and had a great night. When we arrived the hotel had no note of us having booked two rooms and only had one reserved for us, however they found another room and gave us the same deal. The meal was lovely no the staff were excellent and friendly, nothing was a trouble. The rooms were clean, modern and lovely and peaceful. There was a wedding on in the hotel and because it's not huge I thought it would have been quite noisy, however you would never have known. The only downside to the hotel was that they didn't sell cocktails ...... not a huge deal at all but would have been a 5 star rating if they had ! All in all would definitely go back and would highly recommend

Lovely stay and the hotel did the happy couple and guest proud on the day and throughout. We were fortunate to get a very large room, which was very comfortable for the price paid. The hotel is a bit out of the way for Glasgow city centre, but would be an ideal base if you have a car for the area and is a quiet location.

I was at a wedding at Garfield House yesterday. The day went perfectly and we had a wonderful time. The staff were very helpful and helped make the day stress free. They were attentive but unobtrusive. The food was delicious. The hotel itself is lovely too. The bar areas and restaurant are very modern and tastefully decorated. Everything looks fresh and clean. However, on arriving at the hotel, the first thing I noticed were the plant pots at the foot of the stairs to the main entrance. Clearly previous guests had used them as an ashtray, which did not create a good first impression (as the hotel was quiet when we arrived I would imagine that they had been left from the previous day). I appreciate that it is the guests at fault, but perhaps this is something that the maintenance people at the hotel could clear up regularly. I would imagine that on a nice day, the wedding party would stand on the steps for photos. This is the only criticism for an otherwise perfect day.

We used this hotel for a funeral lunch. The staff were so efficient and welcoming. Our numbers were higher than anticipated and this was not a problem for them. Meal was lovely and timings between courses perfect. Thank You

Where to start...... from the day I booked the Garfield as my wedding reception John Kelly was a truly amazing gentleman who knew his stuff! Every member of staff who assisted me during the planning where so helpful and nothing was a hassle. Then on the day what I thought couldn't get any better each and every person who worked at the Garfield where superb! John Kelly was on top form ensured every moment of our day went without a hitch. He gave a 110% to us and made sure our wedding was an enjoyable occasion to all. I didn't think I would have been relaxed as I was but John Kelly ensured that by taking on all the stresses and supporting us every step of the way. I would not have changed one thing about our wedding and I would recommend the Garfield and John Kelly every day.

I stayed for one night with my wife and we found every aspect of this hotel to be excellent. It is located just off the M80 on the Cumbernauld road. It was a house many years ago and although its been extended it f retains some charm unlike many of the new conversions. The room was perfectly fine with all the facilities you would expect, comfortable bed and area for my wife to fix her hair in the morning. She often says the sockets are not located on top of the dresser and awkward to access with straighteners, so she was pleased to report accessible sockets, happy wife happy life. We eat from the lunch menu as we were out for the evening and although it was just fish and chips it was very very good fish and chips. Same for breakfast, we just had cereal and toast but presentation and service was excellent both times and the restaurant is a nice place to relax and enjoy your food. The staff is the hotels biggest asset, they are seasoned professionals who know how to look after you. Not too in your face and not hard to find when you need someone, a difficult balance but in my experience they strike the right balance. I'd recommend this hotel and as it was my first stay at a Best Western I'd look at their other hotels and consider them for other future days and weekends away.

Me and my father Had a quick meal before He headed to work and we had a delicious meal . And I had a brief chat with the chef Scott and he was very nice and kind and Lisa and Ross as well we're very weloming.

Lovely hotel, my 3rd 4 night stay for business. Cannot fault anything or anyone in the hotel, always helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean bedroom, lovely food, and first class service. Can't wait to return!

This was our second visit with friends, staff professional, food good and great choice. Good size bedroom, The Forte retail park is a short distance away £7.00 in a Taxi. Hopefully we will return again.

We celebrated our son's Christening yesterday within the Buchanan Suite at the Garfield Hotel. What a lovely day in a lovely setting! Brilliant staff, venue AND food. A rare find in my experience. The Buchanan Suite was large, modern, very stylish and most importantly, immaculately clean!! The staff were amazing from start to finish. Very attentive and obviously very experienced. They could not have been more helpful and dressed the hall for us arriving, setting out all of our decorations which we were able to drop off the night before. We opted for a 2 course sit down meal. The food was really tasty, with generous portions and a great variety of options to choose from. Special thanks to the chef who managed to please a very fussy celiac vegetarian guest on the day with a lovely individual meal designed to suit her tastes. This has literally NEVER happened at any other family function we have hosted or attended. Thank you all at the Garfield for making our day a special one. We will most definitely be back again soon. We had a family celebration today at the Garfield. From the first moment we contacted them right up until today we received excellent attentive service and all the arrangements were first class. The welcome at the door ,the friendly helpful staff , the beautifully laid out room and the food and service were absolutely superb and could not have been bettered. stayed at this hotel on many occasions and have never been let down . excellent rooms , bar , restaurant and staff and always made to feel at home .plenty of car parking spaces and close to motorways .

I stayed here after being to Aberdeen working on my way home to darlington and I'm very picky but couldn't find a problem the room is nice and clean and I had tea in the restaurant bar which was very nice try the Aberdeen Angus steak pie the car park is really I would stay again.

We initially booked this hotel because it was classed as dog friendly. Always hard to find somewhere. What a hidden gem this place is. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The manager that was on at the time was very chatty and polite. Rooms are clean and of a good standard as well as well decorated. We ate in the hotel. Food was very nice and at a reasonable price. Hotel is set back away from the main road. You can walk into the countryside behind the hotel if you want a stroll. An adjacent field is suitable for walking the dog. We will certainly stay again. Not just when we have our dog but when touring on the motorcycles.

Excellent as always. John Kelly and his team of allstars. From start to finish - a magical evening. The food, the ambience, the staff, the entertainment, the rooms - all terrific. A wonderful night to see out the old year and welcome the new.

Excellent hotel. Onsite parking is a bonus, railway station about a 10 minute walk. Food is excellent. Hotel is always clean and the staff are amazing, always willing to help. Attended a family wedding here too and everything went very well. Would definately recommend.

Our friends and ourselves, for years have been at various venues over the Christmas period and enjoyed party nights and over night stays. Some have been better than others but by far the best is this venue. John Kelly and his team were fantastic, the service and the food was excellent. The DJ played at a level we could still have a conversation and the hot pies at the end of the night were just the icing on the cake. I honestly cannot rate this venue any higher, very impressed and will use them more often in 2018. We have heard their tribute nights are all booked up weeks in advance! Graham & Aileen Mackay

We attended a wedding in this hotel on the 27th of December 2017. We stayed in room 36 - a massive comfortable beautifully decorated suite. We had a delicious breakfast with table service. The food was freshly prepared, warm and tasty. The staff is the best credit to this hotel. They are so friendly, helpful and go out of their way to assist. We will definately return! Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable!

For our work Christmas night out this year, we attended a party night at the hotel! Our welcome to the hotel was excellent! The meal was of a high standard and the party night was just fantastic! Some of us stayed overnight also, the room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable! We are already talking about next years visit - although we may attend a tribute night before then, as we had done this year also! I can't fault this hotel at all, all the staff are friendly (especially John and Gillian) and it always feels nice to visit! Looking forward to returning very soon!

This is the second year, I have organised a Christmas party night for myself and 40 Zumba friends, and yet again it was a brilliant night. John Kelly always gives you a warm welcome, and all the staff are lovely. The service is great , and the food was excellent !

Lovely hotel. Rooms are spotless comfy bed great night sleep. Staff are very friendly and helpful they let us have a late check out which always makes it better. Food is lovely not had breakfast but lunch and dinner never disappoints. Returned a few times.

The venue for Bannantynes Gyms Xmas lunch was fantastic. The lunch was superb and the food was terrific. Would definitely recommend or stay again. Booked via booking.com for a dog friendly hotel and also sent a separate email to say Ollie my well behaved Labradoodle was with us. On arrival at 16:00 having travelled for 3 1/2 hrs the man on reception gave me a key to room 48 a suite (I had paid extra for an executive room). He saw the dog and went to the back of reception and we could hear him saying they have a dog! He then came back and said the nice room he had given us was suddenly not ready and gave us room 31. Obviously this was a lie as we overheard the conversation! He then went on to say the dog was not allowed in any of the public areas only to walk to the room. This defeated the idea of being dog friendly as we like to be with the dog and not leave him in a strange room. We walked to room 31 it was old fashioned dark and miserable and totally ruined our stay. We travel every week with our consultancy work and always take the dog so this was awful as we had to get a takeaway and eat it in a dingy room. Garfield House you are not dog friendly so don't purport to be so! Additionally definitely don't lie to your customers by saying the room at four o'clock (when you can check in at 14:00) isn't ready and repossess that room key and replace with a dingy room a key to a dog house.... very dissatisfied.

I was with a group of 30 people and was looking forward to the tribute acts that were on offer plus Christmas dinner. The function room that we were in was not very warm and some of our group had to put coats back on and also asked staff to check to see in any windows were open as their was a constant draft coming from somewhere. When the soup came it was lovely and warm, but main course was not up to standard. The tribute acts were not that great as well. No one was staying in the hotel from the group as were able to travel home after night out

Excellent from start to finish. Met by a lovely man (sorry didn't catch his name) who organised fizz for our party. Then took us to our table. Very nicely decorated too. Service, food and atmosphere excellent. We left a tip for the staff with our thanks. We danced all night. Lovely touch with homemade hot pies at end of night. Well done Garfield Hotel. Until the next time ??

On arrival room was excellent and spotless clean. Tribute night for colleagues and friends. Manager John Kelly welcomed us at the function suite and as always looked after his guests and helped make our night even more enjoyable. Food was delicious and nice and hot. Staff so attentive and pleasant. Entertainment was fantastic. Michael Buble and Robbie Williams tribute. Sounded like the real deal. We danced our way passed midnight to the excellent DJ tunes and next morning had the most delicious breakfast served by more lovely staff. Big shout out to Ross the duty manager for making breakfast so pleasant. Would def return. Roll on next time.xxx

The staff at this hotel are personable, helpful and warm, not patronisingly polite as in some others I've stayed. The hotel has character, is clean and comfortable with great food and service. I've rarely encountered any problems here but any minor things been immediately fixed

Very clean bedroom with extremely comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Had dinner at the hotel which was very good and good selection from the menu, service was good. There was a great choice and selection from the breakfast menu I had the full Scottish which was perfect and set me up for the day.

I held my birthday party at the Garfield Hotel recently. I felt that everything went really smoothly and all staff were very helpful and professional. The manager John was tremendous and seemed to just appear as I was thinking of asking him something !! Thanks also to Gillian for arranging and booking everything.

This was a very comfortable place to rest before going to work. The staff were very organised and pleasant on arrival. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was no noise around so I got a good nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was also very nice. The waitress was very polite and the hot food came in good time. It was a nice relaxed start to the day. Thank you.

Despite living in local area for 10 years, this was my first visit to Garfield for a meal. The restaurant was really busy on Friday lunch time so obviously it is a good place, however due to the business my friend and I were slightly neglected. After being seated we waited 25 mins before anyone came to our table...we had to go and get someone to come and serve us. From there it then took a further a 25 mins for what was really a soup and sandwich. The food was mixed-up presented well and lovely soup and salad however my croque Monsieur was so salty that I could only eat half. I told the waiter this when they came for my dishes and was apologised too but still paid full price. The hotel is beautiful so it's disappointed that this was my experience. Especially waiting so long for food while I'm 9 months pregnant. I will probably try again in future and hope for a better experience then.

Last night the 8th November 17 my sister and I met with family and ate in the Bar/Grill of the hotel. Food was excellent, service great , staff civil pleasant and polite. the bar/grill is spotless, toilets the same. Will be back another time.

Stayed for one evening and the sockets in the room tripped out Manager and desk staff could not apologise enough, offered recompense and opportunity to charge any phones etc while waiting for electrician Sorted out with no fuss. Good food and service at dinner I'm 6 foot, 17 stone and felt small in the massive bed Stayed room 35 and it's lovely and quiet Spotlessly clean with good powerful shower 15 mins from city Will stay here again

Can't recommend John Kelly (and team) highly enough. From the minute we met John we knew we wanted to have our wedding at the Garfield. Nothing is a problem. Fantastic staff, service and food. Wow! What a suite I was given, having stayed in no more than a matchbox all week I was warmly welcomed into one of the suites as Garfield House. On entering I actually think it may have been bigger than my apartment! All in all the hotel was superb, clean, modern, friendly staff and a fantastic restaurant to boot. Further to this the bed was nice and firm and I had a great evenings sleep and awoke to a fine freshly cooked full Scottish breakfast. I can't wait to return in the near future on my next business trip to Glasgow.

We were there for an evening wedding reception. Our rooms were available early, we enjoyed early entry and had plenty of time after our journey to get ready for the wedding. Staff, reception, concierge and chambermaids all very jolly and helpful. Slight mix up with the room, but it was sorted. It was a nice change to have breakfast served to the table, rather than a buffet. The catering for the wedding meal and afterwards was top class, very efficient but relaxed. Food was excellent. Well done.

I use this hotel mostly during the day for business purposes. There is a train station a short walk away and from there the train time is about 15 minutes to Glasgow city centre, and the Garfield offers much better value than the city centre. The menu varies and the food is always excellent . If you don't fancy what's on the menu, tell them what you would like and they will make very effort to prepare what you want. Alway good service. The hotel is well furnished. Comfortable in the lounge area and the dining area. Good car parking and good links to the motorways. I have also been for meals with family and friends and always had a good evening

Great venue for a wedding. Nice environment, great rooms, wedding areas good and food was very nice. Staff are efficient, professional and friendly. Drinks were on the pricier side, but hotel deal for the wedding was great value overall.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Great experience, lovely friendly helpful staff. Fabulous breakfast, sorry I didn't get to have dinner there the menu looked lovely. Very clean hotel, room lovely would difinitely stay again. There is no lift at the hotel but they have groundfloor rooms if you can't manage stairs and the staff were very accomodating in this regard as I was travelling with my mother who couldn't use the stairs. My wife and I stayed at Garfield House Hotel for three nights. We had stayed here last year and I am delighted that we returned. From the minute we arrived to be greeted in such a professional, friendly manner to our departure the staff were truly amazing. By staff I mean all the people who make the Hotel what it is. Our room was immaculate, all our meals were cooked to perfection and the atmosphere and ambience was superb. Excellent choice, many thanks to all at Garfield.

The hotel,rooms staff service, breakfast/food are spot on and Garfield House is good value but the location of the hotel was a slight issue for me. If your working nearby and only staying for the odd night it's a good option but i like to be able to have a wander out of the hotel and there's very little within walking distance. Working in Park Head i did some slap shod research before booking Garfield House and looking on the map: Stepps looked to be fairly close. I soon learned a valuable lesson though that getting into Glasgow in a morning is much more of an fraught process then getting out of it. Looking at the numerous stellar reviews the hotel gets, 3 stars might seem a bit harsh but personally it was just the location that didn't work for me.

First impression of the hotel wasn't that good. Had to fight my way through a wedding party to get to the check-in reception. The room could be cleaner. The waiters in the restaurant were too eager to take orders. Got locked out of my room twice before check-out time/ they had re-coded the room key before time.

I get hotels booked by my office, sometimes they're good, great, okay or, well, not so much fun. I'll tell you of the downside - single bed rooms just feel a little too small, and no AC. But that's it - the car park is huge, the furnishings and fittings perfect, the room was very well fitted out and the bed.... seriously - though I'm not sure if you could actually steal a bed - but it would be worth the effort! The food is great also... and whatever you do, do not try the Brewers Fayre across the road - it's dire. Great stay, loved it - would most certainly return!!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way home but would have loved to stay longer. The room was very comfortable and spacious and all the staff were really friendly. We didn't have an evening meal here but really enjoyed breakfast. Plenty of choice even for me being a vegan. I left a pair of shoes and to my surprise they sent them on to me. Great service. Would definitely return and recommend.

We stayed at Garfield House on our way up to Scotland for a holiday We arrived to a busy foyer where there was a wedding in progress as well as those of us booking in Lovely to see the kilts and the bagpipes but even better to see how Ian coped calmly and efficiently Maybe it was my stick( recovering from a broken hip!) but he gave us a fantastic room downstairs rather than the one already allocated on the first floor ( we didn't mind the first floor and didn't ask for a ground floor room) It made our holiday The hotel is beautiful and kept to a high standard We had an evening meal and breakfast - both were excellent with a varied evening meal menu - the chocolate 'mousse in a chocolate basket '( can't remember it's name was gorgeous Would highly recommend this hotel

What a super night we had at the Campsie Suite in The Garfield House Hotel, when we celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary, the room was lovely, the food was excellent and the service by the team led by Ross and Hazel was seamless! Thankyou all so much for making our special occasion extra special.

A very warming, comfortable experience with good food and friendly staff. A good location midway between Gasgow, Edingburgh and the gateway to the Highlands with good road access and link to local Golf courses and Gym.

We have eaten here before, however I am afraid we won't be back. Service non existent, meal poor, my husband's burger tasted awful and was not edible. Table was not cleared and no one came to ask if we had enjoyed our food or if we wanted a dessert or coffee. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and even then we were not asked if we had enjoyed our meal.

My Mum got married here on Saturday and the the Garfield staff catered to everything she asked since she booked the wedding last year, the staff went over and above to make it the best day ever! John and his team are fantastic especially Lara, Leigh and Sheila, thank you for a wonderful time!

Fantastic hotel, warm and friendly staff, ideal for business or pleasure - and dog friendly! Have stayed here several times over the past year while visiting my Mother-in-Law in hospital. Staff have been fantastic, food is great and best of all we have been able to bring our two small terriers who now also love the place and see it as a home-from-home... Would recommend anyone to choose it as a place either convenient to Glasgow for business or as a base to explore the fantastic surrounding area.

We were here several years ago and quite frankly were appalled at the standard of the service. In fact this was another place we decided to exit without actually getting to the point of eating or drinking due to the lack of service. A week or so ago we decided to give it another go for lunch, after all it has been a number of years since we were last here! What can I say, not very much except not a lot has changed, although to be fair we did actually get seated and had something to eat which was a vast improvement on our previous visit. We had the two course lunch menu at £12.50. I shall be very frank, there was a very poor choice and in the end we went for the prawn cocktail and soup to start then I had the braised shin and my other half had chicken pie. It was not what I would call good food, it was ok but barely ok. It was edible but we shall not be returning as we can get a much better meal, better quality and superior service, in the city centre. In fact you can get a much better meal with better service in the Buchanan Gate along the road and that's a Brewers Fayre restaurant!!! Kind of says it all really!

We spent 3 nights here and would certainly use the hotel again. We stayed in room (31) which was extremely spacious and quiet. The hotel is very well decorated. The staff were lovely, friendly yet professional and efficient. They made a great fuss of our exceptionally well behaved Labrador. Breakfast was good, a little more fresh fruit and choice of yogurts would be good. Dinner was good but my husband had to send his steak pie back but the replacement burger was good.

Stayed while on our way to struy ,firstly staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel was spotless nice atmosphere,only small thing was our room a lamp light didn't work and empty toiletrie bottles left in bathroom.Breakfast in the morning excellent one of the best ones I've had .I would recommend and would definitely stay here again .

The staff make this the best place to stay. They care that you experience the best stay possible. Nothing is as good as home, but this is close, so always my first choice. Well maintained, clean, great food, great staff. What more could I wish for?

Spent one night here. The room was small but it was clean. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom very clean and modena. Will be coming back if in the area again! Also had free wifi, and agood rand of coffee and tea in room.

Visited the establishment for an engagement party. Well organised, staff were very friendly, food was nice. Place was very clean and the room was set out nicely. Handy car park - would return to the hotel in future.

Visited with colleagues, all food received was delicious, would return again. There are deals on for starters and a main but nothing that was gluten free so had other options. Food did take a while to arrive was the only issue especially as we were on a lunch break. Nevertheless would return.

My wife had previously visited on works nights out and was impressed every time. We decided to go to quietly celebrate our wedding anniversary, and I could not have been more satisfied. This won't be classed as a "high class cordon bleu" ( aka ripoff ) restaurant but from start to finish we would not fault it Very friendly staff from when we arrived until we left Good choice of food and drinks and priced for all budgets Food well prepared and served All in all a very pleasant experience

Nothing else much in the area, from what I could see, so it's crucial that the hotel provides all you might need - and it does! A fabulously friendly welcome from the cheery receptionist - he checked us in, and out and organised the restaurant and engaged in very cheery chat. A lovely start. Room was lovely, restaurant was good for dinner, nice choice of drinks available in the bar, and a delicious Scottish cooked breakfast. Clock radio with usb point for charging was a very welcome addition. Couldn't fault the hotel at all.

Having lived in England for many years, my trips back to Scotland have always been north of where I used to live. This occasion was to see family and the Garfield was our choice of residence. Our room was an executive one and although it didn't look like the one advertised in their brochure, it was very spacious, accommodating, clean and comfortable. Especially the bed! Plenty of space in the car park which is to be expected as this hotel hosts many, many weddings. That in itself speaks volumes although it may mean a very busy hotel on a weekend! The restaurant has very pleasing decor and excellent food to match - you won't be disappointed. Breakfast was 'ok' but plentiful and how many hotels serve a pot of tea containing two tea bags? Staff are very friendly and professional. Happily stay here again.

We have stayed here before and have to say that's why we returned. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large but too warm so window was opened to let some cold air in. The cows in the field in the field next to the hotel grounds didn't seem to sleep At all and made so much noise. So I couldn't sleep for the noise or if window was closed I couldn't sleep for the heat. Breatfast was excellent, menus in restaurant was not great and I would say overpriced. Very handy for the fort shopping.

Went on Saturday for my friends wedding and the staff from the girls looking after the rooms, to the reception staff, all the girls serving meals and the bar staff were outstanding could not praise all these people enough, thank you all for making it a very special day. If staff are reading this, I'm the muppet that forgot to bring shoes to a wedding.

Garfield House Hotel was the ideal venue for our family celebration. Our requirements were discussed in a friendly and professional way and we were shown alternative rooms, menus and prices. Everything was well organised over two further meetings and all our options and requirements were met. On the evening in question the event went very well, with perfect organisation, lovely meals and excellent service. For those family members wishing to stay over at the end, the accommodation and breakfast were superb. Our thanks to John Kelly and staff for a most enjoyable experience.

Ample parking. Good location just off the M80. I was working on Cathedral Street in Glasgow and found this to be an extremely easy commute. My room was a good size overlooking a field. There was a busy road nearby, though road noise does not bother me. The bed was very comfy. Had 3 great nights sleep here. Staff were excellent - especially the reception staff who were always friendly. Only downside is that there aren't loads of eateries near by, though there is a restaurant in the hotel. I would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip just for the night. Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly, made me feel very welcome and had great banter. Had a good night sleep and had all I needed in the room. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here again after several years and it was every bit as good as the first stay. Staff very pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast were excellent can't wait to stay again thank you. It is very close to the fort shopping centre which was great for us as I love to shop.

Booked this hotel a few weeks before a visit to a concert, as the prices of other Glasgow hotels were going through the roof. We were prepared to drive the 8 miles or so into Glasgow but then discovered the hotel is about 0.5 miles from Stepps railway station, which has its own car park. Rail travel times are 15 minutes on the fast route to Glasgow Queen Street station; 25 minutes on the slower journey. Off-peak return fare only £3.40 - I don't think you could park in the city centre for that. Last train from Queen Street just around midnight. The hotel itself is well furnished to a modern internal design, & our room was very clean. The staff were very friendly. The car park fronts onto a dual carriageway, & provides a barrier between the carriageway & the hotel, & so there was no traffic noise. Access is off a residential road, so the hotel location is quiet. Highly recommended & wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when in the vacinity

Slightly out from the city and not much nearby but fine for us rooms very spacious and clean nice comfy bed and bathroom was clean shower powerful and warm. Hotel staff friendly and helpful and overall hotel was well kept although floorboards are very squeaky (but too be expected from an old building)

This is the most friendly hotel that I have ever stayed at! The atmosphere is excellent. All the staff are always very cheerful and helpful. All rooms are well proportions, light and airy and extremely comfortable. The resterAunt always has a comprehensive menu of appetising meals. The bar is well stocked We have stayed at this hotel five or six times and keep going back. We never like departing.

My room and ensuite bathroom were huge and absolutely spotless,with every amenity you could require (including Bluetooth docking station) As with the whole hotel the decor was fresh and modern but still full of character. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. All the staff were exceptional, professional and attentive but also extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. All in all one of the best hotel experiences I have ever enjoyed.

We stayed here for only a night. Our relatives had their small family wedding at the hotel. Much nicer hotel you think! They welcomed us so nicely and kept us happy all the way through! Our room was fantastic. Cosy and very clean. Enough place for everything and their shower is perfect! Lots of hotel has no pressure at their shower which I hate but I love them! Drinks are served fast and the food was very very delicious! All staff was extremely helpful and lovely. Very good stay! Thank you!

This was a repeat visit for us. We base ourself here when visiting Scotland as good free parking at hotel and all Central Scotland locations easily reached by car. There is a rail station approx ten minute walk which takes you into Glasgow. The staff are very friendly and informative. Restaurant is good with a good menu selection. Great breakfast with a continental buffet and cooked breakfast cooked to order. Great visit again, we will be back.

We stopped at the Garfield Hotel yesterday on our way to the Scotland v England match. We had been driving for over three hours, with our young son, who was a mascot at the match later that day. When we mentioned this, we were immediately ushered through to the restaurant, where our son was told his lunch would be 'on the Garfield'. The food and service were excellent, and our son was treated like a celebrity (which he really loved!) - and got his photo taken with the Manager before we left. Special thanks to Ross for the fantastic meal and banter. Our son was desperate to go back for tea after the game, but sadly we needed to get back on the road. We will definitely be back, and would recommend the Garfield to anyone. Thank you, guys!

Overnight business trip. Staff were friendly and were flexible on meals (we needed to leave early which they accommodated). Restaurant was good for evening meal although a little expensive. Rooms were really good although no air conditioning so windows were the only cooling option which were noisy.

We had a party of 15 adults and 5 children at the hotel for a meal on Saturday 3rd June 2017. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff could not do enough to make our evening enjoyable. We all thoroughly enjoýed ourselves. Super venùe.

We recently got married at The Garfield(13/5) and cannot thank them enough for the fantastic experience we, and all our 150 guests, enjoyed. From the initial booking back in October last year right up the day of the Wedding, the management and staff made us feel like true VIPs. The professionalism and courtesy shown is a credit to the owners and to the hotel profession. The staff made everything so simple and they certainly go the extra mile to make a difference---and they do it with such obvious pride and enjoyment! For special mention we must praise Tuathal, John, Kara, Lisa and Ross for their excellent customer care, and a special note to Leon, the Head Chef---just fantastic--all our guests were raving about the quality and presentation of your food--thank you all. We cannot recommend The Garfield highly enough---if you are looking for a top quality Hotel in the Glasgow area you have now found it! As a Wedding Venue it was perfect. The planning and arrangements all went 100% to plan on the day due to the staff being so highly professional and motivated. This hotel was in a convenient location for our travel plans and not so close to the city. It's convenient to the train and bus service. There's plenty of free parking on-site. Breakfast can be part of the price and the food was excellent. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice and we did get a BW upgrade when available. Room amenities were excellent, good amount of space and upgraded bath facilities.

Was coming here for a wedding so booked a room too, the hotel is beautiful inside and they done a really good job with the wedding. The place looked great. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was really good, staff were great, very chatty and friendly, especially the Irish manager (not sure of his name). Really great service all round. The rooms were cosy, and I had plenty of room to get ready, blow my hair etc. so not too small. Bed was really comfy. We asked for breakfast in bed, unfortunately we were both very hungover so never ate much of it but what I did eat was really good, you just filled in a little tick card and left it in your door the night before which I love! Would recommend this to anyone for a wedding or even just a nice night away, there isn't much nearby so its lucky the food is so nice that you can just come here for a nice relaxing night away too. 10/10

Lovely friendly hotel with a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was very good with a good choice for everyone. The evening meal was excellent with a good choice, but not too much, which I think makes life a lot easier. The location is great for what we wanted it for. The railway station is about a 10 minute walk away and takes you straight into Glasgow Queens street in about 15 minutes. All major roads are close by for commuting/visiting the likes of Sterling, Edinburgh, Perth and much more. If you are site seeing in central Scotland, this is a great base, as you can get to and from a lot of places from here within an hour or so. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, although the room we had was near the delivery yard, so a little noisy first thing in the morning for a short time only. However, a good alarm call to get up. I think anyone would be hard pressed to have anything bad to say about this hotel. Good value all round!

Nice hotel. Parking is at the door. The room was just big enough, but comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was modern and in good working order, with a shelf for the shampoo bottle and a hook for clothes. I had requested a walk-in shower, which was only available in an Executive room (at extra cost) because the "wet room" on the ground floor was already occupied. Standard rooms only have showers over the bath. However, the bath was low to step into, so I managed. There is no lift, but the stairs are shallow. The bar food was good and tasty, although my Prawn Laksa was an interesting version of the dish, which included a tomato-flavoured soup rather than the coconut milk fish stock I was expecting. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall the Garfield is a good alternative to the nearby Inn, and sometimes cheaper.

Fairly comfortable. Good location for training into Glasgow to see the sites. Our room was comfortable, but no view, overlooked a rear flat roof. On the whole the staff were very friendly, competent, and caring. Several niggles. Firstly, every hotel and guest house I have stayed at provided complimantary bottled water. On our arrival there was one (and a chocolate bar). When we returned after our day out, there was no water. When I asked at reception I was told that they only provided one bottle per visit, as a "gift" from the hotel. Secondly, the food was ok but appeared to come from a caterer. Doubt very much if it was cooked fresh on the premises. View reinforced by the fact that someone who appeared to be the the chef seemed spent a lot of time wandering around in the restaurant and bar, particularly when our meals were being prepared. Lastly, only memeber staff that let it down was a female receptionist. Why didn't we say anything about the above? Because there was a distinct lack of interest. Usually we are asked how was our stay. Not here. Didn't even acknowledge that I was a BW Rewards member. I would recommend this hotel, as a base for visiting Glasgow, but I wouldn't go back.

Went here with my wife just to get away for the night. Soon as we got our room we were really impressed by it, was a generous size with a added couch to. The food and drink was also very good especially the breakfast, it was delicious. So all in all was well worth a visit and we will be back for more very soon.

I have been staying at this hotel for the last 2 years on a weekly basis as part of my work and I have found it to be excellent and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is good with a broad menu that changes every 3 to 6 months. It is ideal for both business and leisure and has good access for the rest of the Glasgow / Edinburgh belt of Scotland.

We were married at the Garfield in February 2017. From the moment we walked through the front door, months earlier, we knew it was where we would have our reception. The staff, particularly John and Kara helped make our day a fantastic and memorable one. The planning and attention to detail beforehand put us at ease, any request we had was accommodated and we were left in no doubt that we were in safe hands. The reception itself was terrific and all through the photos, meal and speeches the staff kept the day rolling smoothly. The dance floor was heaving all night and the three bars on the go ensured a short wait for your drink (very important to our lot). Many stayed over including ourselves and the bridal suite was excellent The feedback we've had from our guests confirmed how we felt about the hotel All in all it was a fantastic day which we wish could have went on and on. Had dinner here with our Glaswegian friends. We were a party of 7.Nice ambience in the restaurant with sufficient room between tables as not to feel hemmed in as in some places. Plenty of choice on the menu to cover most tastes. Food is of a good standard without frills. Scallops with black pudding was nice but just fell short of hitting that wow. Can't really fault the fish and chips. Sea Bass was nice but did have quite a kick from the chillies in the rice. Fine for me as I don't mind some heat but might be a bit much for others. Service is efficient and very friendly. Too full for pudding but all in all an enjoyable night and we would definetly return if in the area.

What an amazing place to have a wedding. Well worth the trip over from Australia to spend a special day and night at the Garfield Hotel. The staff were all lovely and the day was conducted well by the manager. Absolutely stunning gardens for photos and a great 4 course meal. Will highly recommend this place to fellow Australians to stay. Thank you muchly Garfeild staff for a wonderful day :)

We booked the hotel at the very last minute, I spoke over the phone with a fantastic lady, Lisa she is a real asset to the hotel and a live example of customer services ! Was the first trip for us (my girlfriend and I), on arrival where the experience begun a very welcome check in, in the room a very nice bottle of ITALIAN wine (I am Italian). Dinner at the restaurant very nice and tasty Fish pie ! Sunday roast and burger very nice too ! The overall experience was absolutely fantastic! See some picture so you get an idea ! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Was met by man on the front desk who was very smart ,courteous and helpful . Advised where our rooms were and advised about the dining times . Room was clean tidy and larger than stayed in before . Bed was amazing so comfortable and so were the pillows had a great nights sleep . Shower in the morning was refreshing . Also plenty of tea and coffee facilities and lovely shortbread biscuits . Will definitely stay here again .

Arriving for the first visit at the Garfield hotel , we were so taken aback with the lovely view ,gardens were so well kept,. We arrived at reception to be greeted by a very happy young lady, who informed us about the hotel ,meal times ,the arrangements for the Motown venue, so nice to have this explained to you. Went to the bar area where another happy young lady served us our drinks ,had a very pleasant conversation ,

Can't speak more highly of this hotel. Fantastic staff who have treated my little blind rescue dog like he's royalty. Beautiful room that has views over looking fields full of horses. Really handy location, just off the motorway, and for me personally it's a 10 minute drive from my sisters. I previously had been a very loyal customer of Premier Inn just across the road ( I travel up to Scotland 4/5 times a year to visit family) but had to choose Best Western on this occasion as I have just adopted my blind rescue dog.....well Best Western you have got yourself a new loyal frequent customer. Many thanks to the wonderful staff on reception and Siz ( my blind dog) and I shall see you again!

Very friendly staff who want you to have a good time and always have a ready smile. Clean rooms with new bathrooms and comfortable beds. Really good "Scottish breakfast" . Intermittent Wi-Fi was annoying as kept having to re-connect.

Disappointing main course, escalope of chicken was dry & tasteless and veg was just average, service was excellent wine was perfectly chilled and pudding was nice. All in all a very overpriced meal for quality we received. I feel that for such a lovely place and good staff the food really lets the place down, menu is also pretty boring & really needs to be looked at by management.

I have stayed here many times and the staff very good. This time unfortunately we were put in room 17, very noisy with the sound of a turbine or boiler or the like. The porter was helpful and said he "could feel the vibration ". There were no rooms left and we were very tired so I had to check out at 00.30 and get to the local Premier Inn where we got a great sleep, albeit from 01.00 and we had to be up at 08.00. The night porter in the Garfield asked for our number, but alas no response and therefore we are also left further out of pocket as we had to pay £91 at the PI on top of the money the Garfield took. I sent them an email this morning but no response. All in all pretty poor and unless there is a good reason for ignoring us I can only assume the hotel manager at the Garfield doesn't give a toss really. So we vote with our cheque books! I must have spent more than £1000 there in the last six months but won't be back to tolerate this lack of basic respect. Pity I have to give a star! Kind regards

Held our wedding here on Saturday. Cann't thank John Kelly and staff enough as they made it very personal for us. Our waitress Stephanie was so genuinely warm and friendly Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back as the food is excellent.

Lovely location for a wedding. Nice and quiet in the room, comfy bed, food was enjoyable and staff very friendly. Such a lovely spot for photos too. I'd definitely recommend this place for functions or just an overnight stay.

Centrally located with great views of Glasgow. Venue hosts a lot of functions. It is clean and rooms cleaned by helpful staff. Enjoyed the soaps (weird) I know but I did and the rooms are exquisitely decorated. Amazing attention to detail. The elderly male reception is was the cherry on top. Pleasant personality.

From the point of booking in...... to the "goodbye" the following morning.... everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely....... the breakfast was delicious and Iain was a pure gentleman. Definitely back.... for every trip in the future. ????????????

we were at my nieces wedding yesterday and had a brilliant time the meal was first class the staff were all very friendly and helpful couldn't do enough for you, the room was very comfortable and clean and breakfast in the morning was 5 star cant say enough about this hotel would recommend this hotel to everyone

We held our daughters 30th Birthday celebration at the Garfield Hotel at the weekend and I have to say it was a fantastic experience enjoyed by all family and friends. We organised the event pretty much last minute and were lucky to secure a booking so close to Christmas as their other functions rooms had been fully booked. The staff were great in accommodating us and setting up the Drawing room for around 30 guests. The meal was lovely and piping hot and the staff were more than helpful in setting up the room to accommodate us having a meal and then resetting in order that we could enjoy the live music we had organised in a more intimate setting. All of the staff were friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble, however I have to give special thanks to John for providing such patience and helpful input in ensuring we were able to make the most from the accommodation as well as guiding us through the menus, to Cara and her Team who looked after us so well on the night and to Hazel who managed the bar and drinks so efficiently. Thank you all for making my daughters birthday such a memorable one. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to family and friends for any future events you were all fantastic thank you and well done!

Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal in your restaurant . The surroundings were very pleasant, the staff most accommodating and welcoming and the food first class. We would certainly go back and will recommend it to friends. As an older group we were delighted that the background music was no so loud that and therefore you could enjoy conversation. On the 14th my family attended the garfield hotel for a family meal for my brothers 50th. The meal had been booked a few weeks before for 12 people and had been given away menus with her to look at what would be on offer. When we arrived for the meal we noticed set menus at the table, when asked about this we were told "because you have over ten people in your party you have to choose from a set menu of 4 starters 4 main course and 4 desserts" I've never heard of something so stupid in my life. Other people in the restaurant were choosing from the main menu...if we were to come in separate groups would we have been given set menus or treated like 12 individual customers??we were after seeing the manager allowed to choose from an extra 2 main meals of steak frittes and fish and chips.this was only after 1 waitress had said they only cater for numbers of that size for special occasions...itwas then pointed out it was a 50th birthday meal though I think the balloons saying happy 50th would of obviously pointed this out.also when booking the meal my parents were never told about this over 10 people set menu thing. So after sitting down my partner and I ordered drinks as rest of my family had already done this. I ordered a large red wine and my partner a soft drink.when the waitress returned she sat the soft drink in front of me.as I was about to say that is for my partner the waitress tried to move the soft drink but in process knocked the glass of red wine all over me. Apologies were given but a full glass of red wine as you could imagine does make quite a mess. Before we had even ordered starters I was having to return home for a change of clothes,it was lucky that I live 5 minutes away. On return my partner and I then received our drinks (this time taking cover) which I assumed would be free for the trouble caused but I'll get back to that later. I had the pea and ham soup for starters which was nice and chicken roulade for main which again was nice. On looking at the other plates of food overall the food looked good so the disaster of a night has nothing to do with the chef. So after we had finished my dad paid the full bill but didn't tell us price, I had asked if he received any discount or at least my drink not to be charged...again never told me. It was only today when I seen the full bill of £245 pound that I seen that the red wine had been included in the price and there was no discount other than my niece getting a chocolate brownie for free. Overall a terrible visit to a restaurant that the 12 of us had been to before for my parents wedding anniversary and had a nice meal and given the choice of the full menu. This was the reason we returned but we won't be returning again apart from possibly enquiring about a dry cleaning bill being settled for red wine stains.

Attended our friends 6oth birthday celebrations here and was so impressed by this well run hotel and its staff. The attention to detail in every area was a joy, and unusual these days!! The meal was delicious, and piping hot despite serving around 100 of us at the same time, service was excellent and the staff were all efficient and friendly. We stayed overnight, and the high standards continued in the room and at breakfast. Truly a very enjoyable occasion - well done John - you and your team run a very tight ship!

Stayed here overnight ready for a conference event next day, comfy rooms, clean and everything at hand for a great nights stay, bed was comfy, shower was good and the breakfast is cooked fresh, staff as always were exemplary, I would definitely stay here again.

Overall very good hotel Close enough to Glasgow but far enough away to feel the countryside Food excellent and not too pricey Rooms clean, tidy and very quiet even with the window open Highly recommend staying here
