"Like staying at a mansion"

Ugurd, Stockholm, Sweden 30/08/2020

This establisment is owned by a foundation and has mansion like buildings in a big garden with a lake next to it. Very restful. Our room was good and even had a balcony. Breakfast was great with individual packaging of as much as possible. The restaurant was not open for hotel guests though. Staff was very helpful.

"We will return!"

jpgrandtour, Nottingham, United Kingdom 03/12/2019

This was our second short stay here, visiting family nearby. We think it's very good value for money, the rooms were modern, clean, and well equipped. The surroudings, near a lake, very pleasant. We liked the interesting artwork on display, and the excellent breakfast, where the staff were particularly helpful.

"A relaxing setting"

User 30/06/2019

I stayed at the Schæffergården when I came to Copenhagen for a conference at DTU Lyngby. The hotel grounds are quite pleasant, peaceful, and relaxing, with big gardens, a lake, and even a trail through wooded areas on the back side of the lake. Set well back from the street in a quiet residential area, it's a nice getaway from the hustle & bustle of the city. I didn't rent a car, and was able to walk and/or use public transit to get everywhere I needed (the Schæffergården is a 10-minute walk from Jægersborg Station on the S-tog A-line). The rooms are minimalist, which is fine. If you stay here in summer, be aware that the rooms don't have A/C (and so they can get rather warm and stuffy), but then again, almost no place in Denmark has A/C. The breakfasts are wonderful (and included at no extra charge)! There's quite a large spread of great food for a range of tastes, and they're fully satisfying. If I ever return to Denmark for another meeting/conference at DTU Lyngby, I'll stay again at Schæffergården! I recommend this hotel.

"Incredible setting in a park close to motorway"

ebdane, n 18/05/2019

I have chosen this place due to its geographical setting of my business activity. The hotel must be out of the 19th century and has a luxury setting, free car park and probably excellent facilities for meetings and events. As a one night stay traveller I made a very sad experience at this place -staff at reception as very unfriendly "no welcome" after having paid by CC i did not get an official bill for the amount I paid - asking the same staff whether I can have a meal in the restaurant with some arrogance I got told that either I buy a salad out of the firdge or i can go the nearby petrol station if the choice does not statisfy me. The room was in a traditionnal wing of the hotel, clan but without any fantasy and furniture did look like out of the 50tees. Breakfast in the morning was OK but for the rate they ask not exceptionnal - check out was as friendly as check in - next time other place - they should care much more of their guests

"Awesome staff and beautiful setting"

laurakO6944QY, Hollis, New Hampshire 02/12/2018

I stayed for a few nights on business and loved the room, views of the courtyard and the staff, who organized a takeaway breakfast for me as I checked out early the last day! Restaurant food was great but a limited menu and same all the days I was there. Breakfast was great! I would definitely stay there again. The only downside was a lack of fitness center with weights.

"Lazy staff"

FrederikS593, london 21/10/2018

Although we did not stay at this hotel we tried our best to. Called in advance and was told there were available rooms but when we showed up 2 hours later we were met with an incredibly rude receptionist (Scott) who informed us that although they did have rooms he was unable to set it up for us (we were 3 so needed a zbed). This sort of no-can-do attitude is not what you would except at a hotel of this standard.

"Pretty good "

Bluden, Cheshire, United Kingdom 07/10/2018

Had a recent business stay here after being double booked and bounced elsewhere locally. My room was modest but nicely clean and in a quiet distant wing of the hotel. Breakfast was good and served in a nice stylish restaurant. The hotel is very busy with business conferences and that made it difficult to enjoy some quiet time in the bar with such a large group of people enjoying playing darts and pool nearby. Generally a nice stay overall.

"Beautiful place in slightly worn way"

SannaK673, Oulu, Finland 03/10/2018

Beautiful and interesting hotel with its story, history and genuine art. Slightly worn feeling and coldness can be an issue during wintertime cause of one-layer old Windows. They also caused too early woke-up: cars on parking place started driving… Breakfast was really tasty and good in quality. Very friendly and helpfull staff.

"Nice food, clean rooms"

Piddusan73, Padua, Italy 17/09/2018

Rooms are old style however large and well mainained. Bathroom is ok with good shower and clean floor. Food quality is very high and staff is pleasant and welcoming. Location for relaxing or having a working session.

"Well located hotel in quiet and peaceful grounds"

edmo6778, Lancaster, United Kingdom 02/09/2018

The hotel is located outside of Copenhagen in a very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. It was very easy to find - approx 15 mins on the train from Copenhagen (line B or E to Jaegersborg station) then only 10 minutes walk to the hotel so very convenient for both the city and for out of town excursions. There is also free parking if you come by car. There is a petrol garage with small shop opposite and a Netto and a mini-market about 5 minutes walk away so plenty of choice for food and drink. There is 24 hour reception so you can come and go at any time. The staff were efficient, friendly and ready to help in any way they could. The room was a good size, clean and well equipped with plenty of electric sockets and a comfortable double bed. Storage was limited but sufficient for the 2 nights we were there. The bathroom was a good size and there was plenty of hot water at good pressure in the shower. The room overlooked the grounds and was completely silent at night so perfect for us. The room was quite hot but window opened fully (no restriction as in a lot of hotels) so cooled down quickly. Wifi was good and there was a kettle in the room so we could make our own hot drinks. Either the soundproofing was good or there was no-one else near our room as we never heard any noise from any other guests. The included breakfast was served in the main restaurant and was buffet-style with a wide variety of hot and cold food and more than enough to eat. We only had a few minor complaints - the curtains were very thin so the early morning light woke us up; there was no shower screen/curtain so the bathroom floor was soaked; there was no fridge/mini-bar which would have been nice; breakfast only started at 8am at weekends which is quite late if you want to get out early for a long day out - none of these would stop us returning. It was quite expensive for what we got but that is the same all over Copenhagen - to be fair this hotel was probably better value than most others in the city. The hotel is in a historic building which although modernised still had a lot of character, and is situated in large grounds with a lot of trees and a lake, very relaxing and picturesque - hard to believe you are so close to the city and made a welcome change. Wish we could have had more time to explore it properly. Would stay again if we return to Copenhagen.

"An amazing hotel in a great location "

Mark J, Darlington, United Kingdom 19/08/2018

Stopped here for 1 night before joining a cruise ship. The hotel is quiet a way out of town, but what an amazing area. The staff are brilliant, breakfast was fantastic and the grounds were in perfect condition. We were there during the heat wave which made sleeping slightly uncomfortable as there was no air conditioning. But it was the hottest summer in 120 years so can't grumble.

"Prepare yourself not to sleep"

JanniDKcph, Copenhagen, Denmark 19/08/2018

I really wanted to give this hotel a 4 star plus review.. And I was going to do so.. Beautiful, exterior, good parking facilities and friendly staff. Rom 235 was small but cosy, it had some flaws but I did not mind since everything else seemed to be ok.. Upon arrival I noticed that there was a wedding party the same evening. We did not think much of it since we ourselves were going to be out for dinner and drinks. When we came back at 0130, the wedding party was full boar. But hey, it is a wedding and guests are happy. And so were we, for the time being.... Our room 235 was actually facing away from the party, but some inexplicable reason both the doors and windows on both sides of the banquet room, in which the wedding took place, were open.. and therefore the bass would penetrate through the whole building. 0259 we were sure that the music would stop, but it did not.. now it became a game of who could guess what song was playing. a game that was uncannily easy to win as one could almost hear every word of the lyrics. 04:10 the music stopped.... 5hrs and 50 minutes before the breakfast ends.. The four star rating was starting to deteriorate quick smart.. Now from being a positive experience it became a hunt for faults.. The nice rooms now just looked like a chappy attempt to appear like something it was not. The carpet had so many severe stains that could wonder what they just would not rip it out and start allover. No electrical output next to the bed, nor next tot he desk in the room. No bed side tables to place your phone/ jewellery on The fixture for the non existing drapes of yester year had not been removed, same for fixture of shower curtain that no longer existed. There was severe lack for attention to detail in the bathroom, which in fairness could easily have been quite ok, but now it was just worn. The door lock did not work, so when you leave the room, you would have to unlock the door from the outside in order for it to shut. Now all this could have been averted.. The hotel wrote us twice before our arrival.. Twice to remind us about the very nice restaurant on site, but not once did the hotel inform us of the impending disco/wedding... Had they done so, we would have been able to choose a different hotel, or just blame ourselves, but the choice would have been ours. On the positive note, breakfast was pleasant, but it bewilders me that it closes it at 10 am on a Sunday, what is the rush? Especially taking into consideration that half the hotels guest have just fallen asleep.. On a final note... The hotel as a great history, why not flaunt it everywhere? Pictures stories ect ect... everything to gain nothing to loose..

"Nice surroundings"

WebbDavid, Copenhagen, Denmark 03/06/2018

Went for a one night stay with co-workers and had a good time. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Friendly staff and very nice quiet location. A bit from Copenhagen center, but close to Dyrehaven. Could come back.

"Lovely breakfast, a nice hotel"

lmsk2014, Helsinki, Finland 03/04/2018

The hotel is an impressive old building with some modern architecture in extensions, surrounded by a green park you can walk in. The hotel is packed with design furniture and art, very stylish. The breakfast was absolutely lovely: it had all the essentials (great bacon too), little sweet glass jars of youghurt, smoothies... The only complaint is the small, somewhat worn and an outdated room. However, there may be better rooms available too, we got ours on a bargain price.

"Noisy. Dated."

jackthebiscuit010, St. Albans, United Kingdom 18/11/2017

Hotel located in beautiful corner of Copenhagen. From the outside, an impressive building set in nice grounds. One night stay involving two bedrooms. Bedroom number one blighted by unrelenting bashing of kitchen utensils pot and pans from kitchen on the floor below. Noise reported to reception at 11:40pm. At Midnight the noise hadn't abated, hence return to reception with request for a different room. I was given a 'suite' which would in fact be a queen sized room by any other hotel provider. Somewhat quieter, however the fixtures, fittings and furniture were comparable to the dated decor of the first room. Paucity of power sockets makes it tough to continue work from Laptop or mobile phone that require charging. Hotel is not one to come back to. Needs investment to bring it up to date. On a slightly separate note, Antonio in the restaurant was very helpful.

"amazing place!"

hieperdebieb, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 16/10/2017

Great hotel in a very nice area, at a bicycle distance from Copenhagen, close by a beautiful park. The staff is super helpful and room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of choices! Highly recommended!

"Nice location out of the city"

Scotstraveller99, Scotland 01/10/2017

Used this hotel while involved in a curling competition in Gentofte. Comfortable walking distance to curling hall. Plenty parking space and good breakfast. Seems to be used as a conference centre but a nice countryside feel to the place.

"Very stylish, very individual, nice conference location"

User 23/09/2017

I was in Schaeffergarden for a 3 day conference. We had the central building with a lot of brakout rooms for groupwork, and a big meeting room. The bedrooms were in side-wings of the main building, for breakfast, lunch and diner there is the restaurant wohlert on site. The bedrooms could use a bit of a makeover, beside that it is a good location for spanding some days.

User 04/09/2017

Great place in Copenhagen, but feels like you are in the country! It is specially good for conferances, and they have á great cultural progam as well, It is foundet on the relationship between Norway and Denmark, but other natons are welcome. Great staff, wonderful surroundings and a fabulous restaurant. Went for a run, and I will never state again that Denmark is flat??
