I would definitely recommend this hotel. The service is friendly. We had a very nice room and sanitary. Breakfast on top floor with view over Gent is lovely. You can walk to city centre alongside the river or take a tram next to the hotel.
We spent a night here while passing through. The hotel is located within walking distance from the train station and the room was acceptable. The hotel is basic, the room has no frills, though the bathroom has a refurbished feel and it was generally very clean. The staff were friendly but at €95 per night it felt overpriced.
The Best Western Chamade has been recently reopened after Covid restrictions were lifted. The safety procedures are working well. The room we stayed in was amazingly clean & the staff seemed on top of everything while also being very welcoming & helpful. We chose to have breakfast at the hotel & were impressed with the hygiene. Once again the lady in the breakfast room was really nice & there was a good variety of food available. The hotel has a tram stop out the front & it's only a five minute ride to the old town. Ghent seemed very quite for summer so if you are In the area it seems a good time to visit & help a few struggling business out. Everyone is wearing a mask both inside & out and all businesses were taking things very seriously. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay both in Ghent & at the Best Western.
The station in Ghent is about 2 kilometres from the centre, but we prefer a short walk from the station at the end of the journey from London rather than worrying about which tram to get. This hotel is 5 minutes from the station and is excellent. Good size rooms with great bathrooms, a very generous breakfast and very helpful and friendly front desk staff. The location was also very quiet. You couldn't ask for anything more, and a short tram ride to the centre.
definitely the best hotel, perfect service, the best staff, simply just perfect! you feel welcome and very comfortable. if you have questions you can always get help :) the cleaning is perfect. all in all, this hotel hotel can definitely be recommended.
The BW Chamade is the best accommodation to visit Flandres. It is located at 5 minutes walking from the train station of St Peter and 15 minutes walking from the city centre. I've stayed in a single room with a single bed. The toilet is new and renovated and everything very well cleaned. In the room there is the kettle with teas and coffee. The breakfast is at the 6th floor with a panoramic view of the city and a small terrace. There are different types of food: croissants, breads, yogurts, jams, scrambled eggs and bacon, ham, cheese, fruits and so on. on Sunday the breakfast is even more rich. There is even a water dispenser to refill your bottle free of charge. Wifi works really good. the whole staff is very friendly and professional. what I like also most is the possibility given to guests to decide if they want the towels changed everyday or not... for the environment sake! I will for sure recommend this accommodation :)
Extremely satisfied with the standard of the hotel. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much to do for us. We always love staying at this hotel. The location is ideal whether traveling by car or train, but the tram is nearby that gets you quickly into the cith centre.
We had a lovely welcome at reception when we arrived. Very chatty and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The only thing if I had been with my 6' 2" son rather than my 5' 2" sister he would have had problems fitting under the shower. The gluten free options at breakfast were very good and there was dairy free yoghurts and 'milk'. Tram right outside to take you into the main town and train station a few minutes walk away. Lots of restaurants nearby and a nice park.
It's a basic hotel. The room was spacious enough and it was clean. Bathroom modern and nice. Breakfast ok. They only have 5 parking spaces in their underground garage, so reserve a space when you book. The location is ok, there are some restaurants nearby. The tram stops in front of the hotel but it costs €3 one way. For us it was cheaper to park in the centre than to take the tram back and forth. You hear the tram in your room, but stops going around 11 pm so not an issue.
I stayed here while on business in Brussels, as all the Brussels hotels were very expensive for the night I was visiting. I picked the hotel as being the closest to the station. It was barely 7 minutes walk from Ghent St Pieters. The receptionist was friendly and said hello. My room on the first floor was large and comfortable with a good bed. I slept very well. The breakfast was pleasant with a good range of danish pastries and nice coffee. I arrived late and left early to go back to Brussels so I essentially used it as a crashpad but it worked extremely well from that perspective. I would definitely stay again.
Perfect location. Steps away from the tram that goes to main square and just a few minutes of a walk the train station. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great with a lot of variety and a cappuccino machine! WIFI worked very well. You can buy tram cards from the from front desk and they have some great free maps. They have a lift! Carpeting and decor was a little old and worn out but that is not a big deal to me. I would definitely stay again.
The hotel is located about 5 minutes' walk from Ghent-Sint-Pieters station and about 10 minutes' walk from the Ghent ICC which stands in the middle of a nearby park. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel, which takes you into the town centre, or alternatively if you prefer to walk into town, it is about 20-30 minutes from the hotel, either along the main route where the trams go, or up the street that runs parallel to the river. Rooms have their own kettle and fridge. The room I was in had a walk-in shower rather than a bath. Air conditioning. Clean and comfortable. They are really quick at making up your room - one day I came back from breakfast and it had been done. There is a good selection of food for breakfast, the usual continental fare as well as bacon & eggs. The breakfast room is on the top floor of the hotel, so remember in the morning to go up, rather than down! No lunch or dinner in the hotel.
This hotel is located about a 10 min drive by Tram from the old city with its numerous attractions. The train stations Gent-Sint-Pieters is about 300m away from the Hotel. The Tram stops right in fron the entrance to the hotel. The facilities are modern and the rooms spacious. Apparently the guest information booklet mentions that mosquitoes can be a menace, so it is advisable to contact the reception in this regard. The beds were comfortable, however street sounds were quite loud considering the fact that our room was on the 4th floor and the windows were shut. A continental breakfast can be booked and includes everything that one needs to start the day. Car parking is available for 6 small to medium sized cars. Manoeuvring the car is a bit tricky, hence avoid parking longer cars there. The slot has to be booked in advance and costs 15€ / day. The staff were friendly and the stay pleasant.
The Best hotel to stay in Ghent. The room was beautiful, clean and the breakfast option was like feather on the cap. The service provided by the staffs were excellent. The city center is just ten min by car. It is well connected by the public transport as well.
We chose this hotel knowing we were arriving at the train station which is a very easy walk to the hotel. If that is a significant element to your choice, this is a good hotel to choose. Pros are * proximity to train station * decent buffet breakfast with the usual cheeses, meats, yogurts, fruit, baked goods, cereals (avoid the scrambled eggs, though...and the toaster takes a while) and the 6th floor breakfast room is pleasant. *Staff were very helpful and cheerful at every encounter * luggage storage is easy and there is a nice waiting room in the reception area Cons are: * rooms and property are just OK, no real style or character * you need to take the streetcar (stops right in front of the hotel!) @ €3 per person per ride to get to/from old town - book of 10 can be bought at the train station for €25. This hotel IS convenient for train travel & catching the tram - just wish they'd put a little style into it! NOTE if you need to get from one train station to the other in Ghent between arriving & departing, it is only about €2.40 on the train and much easier/cheaper/faster than the bus or tram!
Hotel stuff was very professional and polite, we used also luggage storage while we were wandering the streets. Wifi was working perfectly. Room was perfectly clean, bathroom was new, rest of the room was oldly furnished but comfy enough (in style of BW hotels, I was before). Breakfast was nice and standard and expected for 3/4 stars hotel. Best thing was that it was so close to St Piters (main) train station in Gent so it was easy to get to there from Gent, and from the hotel to city center tram 1 is going, and tram station is directly in front of the hotel. Also the street where hotel is located is peacful and we had very nice evening there. Only play attention for check in that reception is closed after 11PM, but I had a chance to see that one girl had a problem to get in, and she called stuff and they responded immediately and helped here (happened after midnight). So big plus for all stuff in the hotel in general.
This was a very short stay, just 1 night, the rooms were spacious, tidy and clean. There was free wifi which was relatively fast. I was on the second floor facing the street though didn't hear a lot of noise which was good. The staff is friendly and gave me the information that I needed. The hotel is situated right in front of a tram station and 5 minute walk to the train station.
We stayed for eight nights at BW Hotel Chamade, using Ghent as a base for all of our Belgium day trips. The hotel staff was outstanding and very very helpful. The breakfast was well stocked and varied enough that we never tired of it in eight mornings. I would say that the mattresses are a bit on the soft side. I do not know if this means that they are old. Had these been firmer, I would've given a five star review.
Excellent hotel. Reception is friendly and helpful. ROOMS are well furnished . Breakfast has arieties. It's location is central to most sightseeing and the central train station is within walking distance.
Room rates are very resonable and the inlcuded breakfast is very good. The location is an easy walk from the train station and there is a tram stop right outside taking you directly to teh heart of the Gent historical area.
I stayed here on business. I chose the hotel for it's location, which is central near the station and with a tram stop right outside. The room was comfortable and clean. The tv had English BBC1 & 2 which was nice for me being English. Breakfast was included and was well presented and pleasant continental selection with cereals, meats, cheese, bread and pastries. There was also scrambled eggs and bacon if you wanted it. There is no restaurant onsite but plenty in the surrounding area. I can particularly recommend La Stazione which is opposite. There is onsite parking (for a few) with a height restriction of 1.75m. The entrance is very steep and not for a nervous driver. I will definitely stay here again when in town.
We have stayed in several Ghent hotels. This was very convenient for Citadel Park and the velodrome. It was also easy walking distance to station. Trams run into the city centre from just outside or you can walk if the weather is good. Hotel is excellent. Clean room, large shower, the windows do open, heater works. Our room 403 overlooked the rooftops to the back of the hotel and it was very quiet (we stayed midweek). Parking is a problem as even our Berlingo was too high to go into the underground parking. We found a parking space outside which was cheap and gave us free parking overnight (7pm - 9 am) but only 5 hours parking during the day. Check out the station car park (half price if you take the train to somewhere - park your car then get your parking ticket validated when you buy your train ticket). Breakfast good - I drink a lot of coffee so easy to get my money's worth).
The room is oke and clean for the price.Reception/service provide good service. There're was a small communicationlack, but solved fantastic by reception.Location is good, near to public transport an station.
I booked a single room. I was not surprised or upset by the size of the room. It was fine. The bathroom was like a tardis. The room was clean and well presented. Everything you'd expect. I was hopeful of a good nights sleep. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. They spoke English well. So why no 5 stars? I slept about 5 hours. Why? In spite of it being September, it's mild, even warm - although not at night. There's no AC or fan - I know, my fault for not checking but I wasn't expecting a room hotter than the surface of the sun. Add to this the extra guest. No not pests or anything like that. A mosquito- tempted in by the tropical heat, he came in and feasted on me. Granted the mozzie wasn't the hotels fault but I had to open the window (didn't cool things down) thus inviting him in. 20 very itchy lumps for my pains. Anyway. Recommended from October to April. I don't know if the double rooms have this issue

Dear Thank you for taking the time to write this down. You help us a lot by telling you what you liked and disliked. Unfortunately not every room has airconditioning. We're trying to change this as soon as possible. We're very sorry to hear about the heat and the mosquitos. Too bad we didn't know about your discomfort, we have extra vans and things to keep the mosquitos available at the reception. We always do our ultimate best for our guests so if we had known this we would definetely have offered you a solution. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Kind Regards
We stayed in this hotel on Saturday 25th August as we were travelling from Brussels late evening and wanted a hotel near to the station. Although not the most modern of hotels, it was lovely and comfy with an amazing shower!!! There is a number 1 tram stop right outside which takes you right in to the centre, you can also buy tram tickets at the tram stop (€3 for a ticket, make sure you have coins). The staff were very friendly and helpful, they gave us a free map of the city centre and also were happy to store our luggage for us in a room behind the counter, so we felt our luggage was safe. I suggest this hotel to anybody.
Quite a large room with ample space to access gear from your suitcases. Room has bar fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a (rather noisy) air con. Large bath room /toilet with shower over the bath. Only one spare power point in room to connect mobile charges. Lift available between floors (watch for the small drop from when the lift stops and the doors open!) Reliable high speed WiFi. Good breakfast available. Secure parking for bicycles in under ground car park. Very pleasant and helpful staff. A 25 minutes walk into the old section of town or catch a tram from directly outside the hotel.
Well-situated between the St Pieters railway station and the Citadel Park and a tram stop 20 m from the hotel entrance, this place is a good choice. You can walk to the city centre (20-25 min) or take the direct tram line (10 min). The single rooms are quite small, but the general standard is good. Some drawbacks: the underground parking space is too small for six cars, especially if you have an SUV or station wagon. The TV system in the room is a bit complicated and the manual in the room lacks detail. Staff are friendly.
Great location just blocks from the train station. Ghent is a good home base to visit nearby cities in Belgium. The hotel staff was very helpful in recommending sites and restaurants in Ghent. The hotel was clean and offered more than average facilities and conveniences. A very well stocked breakfast is included.
Not the fanciest nor the most ornate hotel we have ever experienced, but it has so many advantages to experiencing Ghent. First off, we took the train to St. Pieters station. The hotel is no more than a 10 -15 minute walk away from the station if you can read your phone GPS correctly. Secondly, all you have to do is walk out of the hotel door to the tram stop and catch the #1 tram into the heart of the historic town center. It's approximately 6 stops to the "Korenmarkt" stop. You can purchase tram tickets for the 10 minute ride from the front desk. We arrived prior to the 3pm check in time, and they graciously stored our luggage. The young lady who fronted the desk could not have been nicer. She went out of her way to make sure we got into town without incident. The night clerk, Ahmed, personally helped me mail all my postcards by putting stamps on them as I had run out of stamps. Just a wonderful group of friendly, caring people. Our rooms were nicely appointed. One of the few rooms we had in Europe that actually had a tub. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The only complaint was that the tub filled ever so slowly. Breakfast was offered on the 6th floor, but we did not partake in it as we left early in the morning prior to service in order to catch an early train. If you are looking for a great location to crash after a day in Ghent, I would highly recommend this place. If you want to be pampered and want luxurious surroundings, probably not your cup of tea. Not sure how they handle cars if you are arriving by automobile. We planned on coming and leaving via train so we wanted a location near the train station with easy access to town center. That's exactly what we got. We would definitely go back here again as it was a very pleasant encounter.
The hotel is s little tired in places but is quite well situated especially for the station. Main downtown would be about 15 min walk or there is a tram stop immediately outside. There was no bottled water provided in room and it was odd shaped with an unpleasant outlook. Overall rather tired. Breakfast was continental with bacon and scrambled eggs. All self service but perfectly adequate in a room on the top floor. You have to book and pay extra for car park and it is incredibly tight to get in and out even for a mid range vehicle. Staff member on check in was very pleasant. There is a small bar there but not one that is likely ever to be used. Overall, okay for a short stay.
Location was excellent, close to train, tram and bus. Amenities were good. Breakfast was also good with continental breakfast. Since it was summer I had to switch on the air conditioner. Only issue I had was the bed which was hard for me.
Lovely hotel, convenient for railway station. Breakfast room was pleasantly located on top floor (level 6) and gave a great panoramic view of the city. No problems at all during stay, staff were very good, breakfast was plentiful, varied and enjoyable. Room was fine and housekeeping very good, would recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for three nights while attending a conference in Ghent. This hotel is not in the central historic tourist zone-- about a 20-30 minute walk south. However, for me it was very convenient, very close to the train station (didn't have to drag my luggage far), and also near the art museums (my main destination). It was easy to walk to the center at other times for meals and tourist things, though there was plenty to eat in the immediate vicinity of the hotel too (not isolated at all). A tram passes in front that can carry you straight to the center, but I walked. I had a single room, very quiet, facing the back into other buildings (no view at all, but I wasn't hanging out there). Nice super-clean and modern bathroom with shower, small desk, big TV, all in working order. Card entry to room and to hotel after hours, no issues there. Water boiler in the room for instant coffee or tea, replenished daily. Large FREE breakfast (included in price) served daily on the top floor of the hotel in a very attractive breakfast room: eggs, bacon, cold cuts, fresh fruit, assorted yummy fresh pastries, toast and jam, coffee, juice, etc. Very pleased by this! Nice view from the breakfast room looking out over the city. The staff were helpful and efficient-- no complaints. I'd definitely stay here again, given the super-low price and convenience to the station, unless business required me to be in the center. Overall, I'm very pleased to have picked this hotel!
We booked this hotel just sleep in, but actually it was not so bad. Bathroom already renovated and very nice, room was little bit oldy, but for 3* good one. Real pleasant surprise was breakfast (included in the rate) which was really nice on the top floor. Its close to the train station and still doable by walk or train to the center. We would go here again.
Just checked out of this hotel.. ws there for two. Nights.perfect location.. train station 5 min walk and bus station .. tram no 1 outside the hotel.. towards the city centre.. Excellent service .. had a problem with the first room , didn't have A/C and been very hot.. My booking clearly stated room had air A/C.. when raised the concern .. the room was immediately changed to the one with air condition.. the chap was wonderful and very helpful.. Brilliant breakfast plenty .. cleaners very cheerful.. every one happy??.. This hotel was not booked through trip advisor but wz another website.. F.Chandoo
It is a good Best Western hotel, with nice amenities in the bedroom, great hot shower and big room. The breakfast was also ok, average of Best Western world around. Be aware that there are only 6 spots to park in the hotel's garage so you MUST book it and depending on the size of your car, it won't fit. The hotel is close to a train station which is also a plus for the stay.
I stayed in this hotel for a week and i was really satisfied with the service and other amenities. First thing, the location which was for about 4 min of walking distance to the station and to the city center about 20 min. The tram stop was right in front of the hotel. The second advantage, really good breakfast with a big choice of different kind of breads, buns, and other delicious meals. My room was spacious and bathroom really big and clean. The staff was really nice and helpful. Finally, a few disadvantages. If you get a room facing to the street it could be noisy with the open windows and during the weekends the breakfast is served from 8 a.m , which is really to late.
I recomand this hotel, very good position, very fine stuff, good breakfast, fine cleaning, fine bathroom, perfect for holiday, close to museums, tramp station, good price, garage. I strongly recomand this hotel
I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights, and to be honest, there is relaly nothing to complain about. The beds were supernice, big spacious bathroom, 15 second walk to tramstop, which takes you downtown Ghent in 10 minutes. I can highly recommend this hotel! I stayed in room 304, which faced the mainstreet, but it was never any issue.
The Best Western was fantastic, the reception was at all times friendly and helpfull as was all the staff we met. The facilities were clean, tidy and well kept. The situation of the hotel was perfect for us to get in and out of Gent to Oudenaarde. An excellent trip to be repeated in the future.
Located within walking distance from Sint-Pieters railway station makes this hotel a good choice if you are arriving by train. Friendly staff, check-in/out process was very smooth with prepaid hotel voucher. My room with one single bed was very small, but ok for few nights. Breakfast was just average hotel breakfast you would expect with bread, coffee juice, bacon and scrambled eggs.
A very clean and nice hotel located only a few minutes by tram from the center of town and very close to the railway station One could buy a 6-euro day card at the reception desk. The included breakfast was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the bed was really comfortable.
This hotel would have been perfect save for the staff leaving at 23:00 meaning that the bar closes (and of course there are no more check ins - which didn't affect us but would have if you were late!). Breakfast was good, on the top floor giving good views over the city. My room was huge and provided a clean, large bathroom. My only slight criticism (as well as hours) having a front facing room meaning the noise of trams and revellers (we had a hen party arriving late at night for example).
A few minutes walk to Gent-Sint-Pieters station and outside is a tram stop to the city centre. Clean room with nice bathroom, breakfast was good. Reception closes at 11pm but this just means you have to use your keycard to enter from the side entrance.
This hotel is 5 minute walk from the railway station so it's easy to find the staff are friendly and helpful the room's are clean and tidy and also there is a tram stop outside the front door and the breakfast are good so if you are ever in grent i do recommend you stop at this hotel
Stayed here one night for a weekend in Gent. Spacious room, friendly staff, good breakfast. Nearby a railwaystation. A little far from the citycentre, but the tramway to the centre in front of the hotel.
Great hotel with good location. Nice walk in to old town following the tram tracks. Very clean, nice room and lovely bathroom. Good and friendly staff. Be sure to be there by 11 pm as the door gets locked then. My first night I was a couple of minutes late due to transport here, only just got in! Good breakfast too.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Many thanks to have taken some time to evaluate our hotel. We hope you can welcome you again !
A hospitable hotel in the centre of Ghent. It features friendly stuff and impeccable infrastructure. The cleaning standard is high. The breakfast is also very good, served on the top floor of the hotel in a hall with a terrace. The location is perfect, very close to the main railway station. In all, it gives good value for the money.
Great breakfast and service at the reception. Location near the railway station is very good - only 250 - 300 meters. Walking distance to city center. You can go to city center also by "city railway", which depart in the front of hotel.
Good value for money and located in a decent place as was right beside the train station and a short walk into the town centre. Only criticism is that the pillows could have been better as they were too small.
This hotel is conveniently located two blocks from the train station. Located right outside is trolley station number one, the direct line to downtown, historic Ghent. The staff is absolutely fabulous....committed to making your stay as comfortable as possible. They sell train and trolley tickets, too. If you are hanging out for a few days, I recommend buying a multiple ticket pass which is a better deal than a single trip pass. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood with very nice restaurants within easy walking distance. Included in our stay was a beautiful breakfast including yogurt, fruit, fresh pastries, juices, teas, coffee, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cereals, granola, and fresh veggies. Who could want more? Oh.....some Americans will not appreciate that rooms do not have AC. But the temps in October were quite comfortable. The bedding was also very nice. A lovely stay.
It is really comfortable. Close to Gent St. Pieters, Big Room. The higher the better. Breakfast is good, but no so many options. In general, it was clean, and the service was nice. Plenty of options do to near there, old town just 20 min walk, and you can buy tram tickets in the front desk.
It was wonderful place.. real great value...great location. 1 block to train station and tram stop right out front. Plentiful and delicious breakfast. Nice clean and quiet room. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was very conveniently situated to the railway station and within walking distance of the town centre. We would recommend staying at this hotel. Rooms were spacious and well provided for. The room was clean and comfortable with a good quality shower and bathroom
Very close to train station. On tram line to city centre. Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast. Excellent WiFi. Quiet. Fabulous monsoon shower. Excellent room care. Tea & coffee making facility in room.
It's a nice hotel overall. The breakfast is really really good! No complains at all, haha. There's a tram stop in front of the hotel but if you prefer to walk and save money, it's just 20 minutes to the city centre. The personell is friendly and always happy to help.
one point : when leaving early in the morning, I didn't know where to leave the keys and I suppose that I had a few small bottles of water to pay? service of superbreakfast okay but nobody available when help was needed.
Spent two nights st the hotel. Tram stop right outside so handy for the city centre. Go to the station just up the road to get reduced price tram tickets from the kiosk at the tram stop. 10 tickets €15. Staff at the hotel helpful and friendly.
Our stay in Hotel Chamade was nice and clam. The hotel is pretty close to the main station, so it is an ideal choose if you are on a belgian / european train trip. The city center is also at walking distance, but if you are already tired to walk the tram station (Tram 1) locates only 50 m from the hotel's door. The breakfast is rich, there are many possibilities to eat and drink. I can offer this hotel!
My friend and I stayed one night in this hotel. It's very close to the central station (not even 10' walking), with a friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a double bedroom, which was quite ok. The bathroom was amazing - very modern, clean, with a good bath/shower. The breakfast is very good with fruits, eggs, breads. We payed 106€ (with city taxes); 2 person with breakfast. For a quick stay in Ghent is worthy. If you follow the line of tram 1 you reach the center in approximately 20-30'.
Nice hotel, they said parking was free, but we did have to pay to keep the car on the street the next morning. It's about a mile walk from the center of the city but it's easy to find, just follow the tram tracks.
The Hotel is within walking distance of the station and the local tram is right outside the hotel which is 6 stops away from the center. Lovely breakfast is offered on the top floor where you can enjoy the lovely views.
Very nice stay in Best Western Chamade the room was good the bathroom was renewed and the breakfast was excellent the room was clean. The hotel is on a good location near the St. Pieters station and a tram stop in front of the hotel
The location is very close to the city center (train and bus stations are at walking distance). There are also some restaurants nearby. Room, cleanliness, accessories, everything was perfect. Buffet breakfast was great. The staff was polite and helpful as well. I can, therefore, give excellent rating without any reservations.
Don't go there by car, the garage is horror for everything bigger than a Smart :-) Good breakfast, friendly staff, although my room (single) was small and did not look fresh. View into back yard was misearabl, no a/c. They put up a fan for me, nice.
The hotel is located nicely, we got a very spacious room. The breakfast on the 6th floor was facing the fabulous street view. The choice of meal was varied and delicious especially the bakery goods. The entrance into the underground parking is quite narrow, however.
Ideally situated to visit Ghent. 20minute walk and you arrive in the old town. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel, althought this is noisy and continues to run until 11.30pm and begins again around 7.00am. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. There is underground parking available but spaces must be booked, there are only 6! Reception staf on arrival were very helpful and gave lots of literature, to assist with visit to Ghent. Breakfast was adequate and served on the top floor! The "bar" was very small but offered a good choice of beverages. Rooms did not have air conditioning.
stayed for two nights while at a conference. this hotel is very much 3 stars. not fancy or impressively decorated, but decent. everything was clean. the bathroom and shower were well appointed. the breakfast was reasonable and the woman who was responsible for the room was a dynamo, there was never a dirty plate left on a table to an article of food that was finished. The one hickup was that it was very hot during my stay and the a/c didnt really do anything to cool the room. however, this was a problem in every place i went in belgium, not just at the hotel. the hotel is very close to the central train station and therefore very convenient for travelers. the walk to the old city is only about 25 mins and pleasant enough. all in all good value for money.
With Best Western I did not ofcourse expect much, but the standard of this hotel is beneath my expectations. I stay at hotels a lot, and this was among the poorest I've been to. It's small, rooms are outdated – and the airconditioning is a joke: rooms are hot and stuffy and the air conditioning is just really noisy but very ineffective. The “TV” was the tiniest I've seen. Bathroom was so-so, the shower was a nice surprise though, very nice! Towels however have turned grey with age and are really worn-out. Amenities are not replaced daily: if you run out of smth, too bad (though I guess you could ask for more...?) Breakfast was quite nice, though, but nothing special. There is a nice view from the breakfast room, but the little balcony was entirely occupied by smokers, which was too bad. However, service was very professional and efficient. The location is also excellent, 2 min walk from the train station.
I really liked the location of the hotel. Situated in walking distance from the train station and in front of the TRAM station for the center. Clean. Big room. Good service. Good breakfast. The room was kind of hot though.
Stayed here 5 - 9th June 2017 with my brother. It is located very close to the Saint Peter's Railway Station and very easy to find. The instructions said 4 minutes walk - and it was! It is a small hotel with basic amenities but it had everything I needed, including that essential for a Brit, tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Both our rooms and bathrooms were clean and bright and looked like they had been recently refurbished. The Breakfast Room is located on the top floor and has nice views. Breakfast was included in the price and was adequate, offering a traditional continental breakfast as well as bacon and scrambled eggs. There is a small bar but it wasn't used a lot while we were there. The staff were excellent. They spoke excellent English and couldn't have been more helpful. We planned to visit our Great Uncle's grave on this centenary year since he was killed during the Great War and wanted to use public transport to get there. The receptionist printed out instructions for us.
Just like to say what a great hotel this is so near the train station about a 4 minute walk the staff are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are clean and tidy the breakfast is served on the top floor but is ok you can get scrambled eggs and bacon so if you are ever in this part of Belgium I recommend a stay at this hotel 8 out of 10 and it's easy to get into the city centre for great bars and restaurants and night life
Been through Belgium on many occasions and visited on business but never stopped overnight. We found it a charming city extremely well represented by the BW Chamade. The staff we're welcoming and helpful and the room was spacious and very clean. The bathing facilities were clean and well ventilated. Air conditioning was also available. Breakfast was buffet and may said to be slightly underwhelming. It was however tasty and fresh.
It is a nice hotel with friendly staff. A bit off centre but the tram is nearby and it is also just a short walk to city center if your up to. We came by car and had a parking spot reserved. Parking may be small for Some but actually not a big problem if you arrive with someone to guide you while parking. Breakfast is short op lotions but still enough to start the day! Rooms are large with a renovated bathroom with an excellent shower!
The hotel is very comfortably located. We got a very spacious room and underground parking (but the car must be quite small otherwise you will not be able to drive in and park). The breakfast overlooking the street was served on the 6th floor and I must admit really delicious bakery goods. You must definitely try them!
The hotel was four minutes' walk from Ghent station and the tram stop for the city was right outside the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. the bedroom was comfortable if a little tired - bathroom modern and nice. Breakfast servedin the morning was most welcome!
This was a nice hotel which fitted the bill for us for an overnight stay in Ghent. The rooms were clean and well equipped, breakfast was nice and the reception staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is not luxurious but highly recommended for a 3 star hotel.
The personal was very kindly and helpful. The room was calm and clean. The breakfast was good. The garage is very narrow and not usefull for big cars. It costs 15 Euros a day. There is no possibility for parking cars for a longer time nearby the hotel. The next train station is away only about 500m.
Good position, very few kilometers by walk from the city center. Clean and silent rooms and friendly staff. Private parking available for 15 euros per day. Breakfast on average was good, quick check out procedure.
I enjoyed my stay at Best Western Hotel Chamade. Very polite staff. Excellent breakfast. Very convenient location. Very close to train station. Very good access to tram lines and very good connection to city center. Spacious room.
As asked, we received a quiet room. Very clean, modern, descent size. Good beds! The hotel is very near the center and the train station of Ghent. Friendly staff, and a very good breakfast in the morning! The breakfast area is also very clean, I have seen others in Belgium! Definitly a place to return to! Thank you for the correct service!
I stayed here with a few mates as we were doing the tour of Flanders sportive. Hotel was convenient for a few restaurants nearby and the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and met my needs. Would recommend if you want a basic comfortable and convenient place to stay. Only 5 mins apparently from the shopping centre by tram, which stops about 20 metres from the front of the hotel.
I had a really good time staying in Best Western Hotel Chamade. The room is spacious, so is the shower room. The location is perfect for those who take train from Antwerp or Amsterdam. Less than 5 minutes walk you'll reach here. Public transportation is super convenient, right in front of the hotel. Breakfast is quite decent as well.
Nice clean hotel within walking distance of the train station. Tram stop outside to city centre is very handy. Breakfast was good. Only downside for us was we had no heat in our bedroom! And in November that is not ideal!... we thought on the first night that we were operating the thermostat improperly and having pointed out the problem to the receptionist thought we would be ok for the next night. .. to no avail. We would have thought that the receptionist would have checked to see if we had managed to find but no... so we spent another rather chilly night in our room.
Nice hotel, close to train & tram (stops in front of the hotel). Very clean & comfortable room! Walking distance the city centre. Employees where friendly. Service was good. Minus: parking is a little small.
Come out of the train station and walk straight ahead, hotel is easy to find. Good friendly professional staff, clean and comfortable and a short walk to the main centre of the town. Decent sized room, all good.
Hotel is clean, staff is friendly and polite. breakfast is good, the coffee could have been better. The hotel is situated in the neighboorhood of a Railwaystation and 20min. by foot from the centre. There is a tramway in the street of the hotel to the centre. The environment is quiet.
Excellent position by tram and train. Great staff who were knowledgeable and helpful. Room was as expected clean and with the advertised facilities. Breakfast was reasonably priced and more than sufficient
Next to the station (5 min walk max.), not far from Gent Exhibition center Nice and fast service, lovely breakfast on the top floor Rooms are very comfortable and clean Good WIFI connection What more?
My cousin and I spent three nights here in August and we have no hesitation in recommending it to others. The reception staff were always helpful and friendly, and you can't beat it location-wise; it's just a few minutes' walk from Sint Pieter's train station. You've also got easy access to the city centre, as there's a tram stop right outside the hotel entrance. For attractions in the arts quarter, Citadelpark is nearby, as are the MSK and SMAK art museums. As for the rooms, we were very pleasantly surprised. At the price we paid, something more basic would have been perfectly reasonable but the room was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom in particular was fantastic; really classy decor and good shower pressure. All in all, it felt like a room well above the rate we paid.
There is only one table at the balcony for breakfast, which is a shame, but the breakfast was fine. There is no airco in the room. This is usually not needed in Belgium, but we were there during a heat wave which made it a little uncomfortable. And there were some guests that left empty pizza boxes and bottles in the hall. It was a little dissapointing to see that this "trash" was still there in the morning. (it was there over 16 hours) But, over all, the hotel was price-quality OK.
This is a good basic hotel within walking distance from the Sint Pieters train station. We walked from the station to the hotel (about 200 yards away). We took the train from the Brussels airport directly to Ghent. It took just under an hour and only made three stops (in Brussels) before leaving for Ghent. The hotel receptionist let us check in a little bit early. We explored the surrounding area on foot later in the day. We took the tram (which stops directly in front of the hotel) to the sights in the original medieval part of the city. (We bought a tram pass at the hotel.) The hotel staff is friendly and helpful with directions and ideas about what to do and where to eat. The breakfast offered by the hotel is good; a typical continental that is fairly common in the States (several types of breads and sweet rolls, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereals, fruit, etc. The view of the city from the breakfast room was very nice. The room was adequate for three adults; good air conditioning, clean bathroom, TV with several different languages available (including the BBC), great Wi-Fi and internet.
I've been there for three nights, I have to say it was a nice one... 3 minutes walk from st peter main train station... The tram runs exactly in front of it to the city centre. A calm place in u don't like noise. The room was big enough, it was worm and the bathroom was clean and nice... Breakfast was good "average". Staff were friendly and nice... There is a lift... I like it and would love to go again...
Great location near the train station which really suited us. The staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and clean, the beds comfy. Only downside was that the minibar wasn't restocked but that's a small blemish on an otherwise great stay. Recommended.
We have two criticisms about the room: 1) the mattresses were too soft for our personal liking, and 2) there appeared to be no power sockets available near the beds, Otherwise, our one-night stay was excellent. The receptionist on duty on our arrival was exceptionally friendly and helpful. However, we would mention that the underground garage is not easy to access and exit.
The hotel was near the train station, with a tram stop right in front which takes you to the city centre. Room was clean, bathroom is modern. Breakfast was plentiful, there were regular refills, and had a bit of everything: sweet, savoury, fruit etc.
I had a very nice stay at the BestWestern hotel Chamade in Gent end of july 2016. Room was clean (I think renewed bathrooms compared with 2 years ago). I could sleep well, friendly personell. I had a problem with the TV shortly, but they helped me out fast.
We could really recommend this hotel. Clean / cosy / friendly staf / good breakfast and tram in front of the hotel. Hotel is not to far from the city centre just 5 or 6 stops. And a quick reply by mail if you have questions.
We were in a party of 15 and had 8 rooms booked. All arriving together the receptionists dealt with us in a calm professional yet friendly manner. The hotel is ideally situated to access museums, art galleries, cathedrals, shops, restaurants and shops. The tram stops outside the front of the hotel and the tickets can be purchased from reception. The main train station is a short walk away. The room was large with an adequate size bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for all cultures. Defininately would stay here again when visiting Ghent. I would have no problem recommending
Good price, quality. You can store your car for an additional fee. Basic breakfast Room was clean. I would go back if I ever go to Gent again. Tv reception was a bit spotty, but there was free wifi in the hotel.
Hotel condition seems pretty poor, they have closed the sitting area at 11pm and noone allowed to stay there and must go to their room, also, the room was smelling odd and had to open to window to refress air get in, breakfast was okay and location is great, but for that money it doesnt worth! also, the bar is just next to the reception and people were shouting, speaking loudly, if you are looking for confortable place dont choice to go, but may choice it only because of being very close to the train station, Best western disaapointed me little bit at this time
Clean, Friendly, Central, Gentle, Sweet ... Pure ... are just a few adjectives to express our stay ... Had to organize a trip to the amazing city of Ghent ... in family ... and rented 5 rooms ... well ... so seldom is the feeling of velvet at the tip of your fingers ... but this time ... we felt it all week-end long. Marvelous, a strong recommendation. It's a 3 star ... but these are from genuine gold ... and merit to be pure diamond.
The room itself was average and clean but the location is exceptional. Walking distance to the Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station and there's a tram stop to the city center directly in front of the hotel. Nice staff too.
the hotel has a very good location, very close to the train station, and there is a tram station just in front of the hotel. the reception is quite cozy, and people are also quite nice. the room is also very good, ample and clean. the food for breakfast is good.
Nice hotel in walking distance from main railway station and Citadelpark with musea. Direct in front of hotel a tramstop to citycenter. Good service at reception. Spacious room with minibar and facilities to make coffee and tea. Small (but adequate for small cars) parking.
Every hotel is different. I enjoyed the location close to the railway station and to places of interest. I especially enjoyed the free Gent guide and map and the daily breakfast-it was fab! I would recommend it.
Excellent hotel, comfortable room, spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money. Located about 5 minutes from the main Railway station and with a tram stop just outside the front door, convenience is excellent.
Good location, close to the station, 20 min walk to the center, right next to a tram stop. Very comfortable bed, large room, good breakfast and friendly receptionnists. A good starting point to visit the city.
Stayed here on business and was disappointed. The hotel is really starting to shows it's age and could do with a complete overhaul. The rooms are small, dark and oddly shaped. the dining room is tucked away right at the top floor of the hotel and looks like they just knocked a couple of the bedroom walls down. The bar is basically the back of the reception desk. There is no parking available at the hotel and the area around the hotel is not good for on street parking. the nearest off street parking is about 12 mins walk away.
I would like to thank the very friendly staff, they were al very genuine and helpful. We had a pleasant stay. If you do not want to pay too much for a nice hotel, and do not care that the town center is a short walk, I can recommend Chamade. Walking to the town center is indeed just about 20 minutes.
We had a pleasant stay. Room was clean, at the frontside of the hotel, which gave quite some noise from the traffic. As it was in the weekend however, it didn't bother us too much. Breakfast was OK, personel was friendly, particularly at the reception
Superb breakfast and rooms very clean. Location close to tram. very good area quite and nice. Will recommend. parking very small. Good internet acess. Small bar in location. Close to two museums ( walking distance)
Next to the train station, a had a pleasant stay: very nice and helpful staff, the room was cosy, clean and warm, nice bathroom and a good breakfast. If you are looking for something not expensive and cosy I can easily recommend this one
The room was clean. The breakfast was great with nice view of the street. The tram station is in the front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and useful, The hotel is near the train station. Fantastic for short stay.
Excellent location, the hotel is suited for many travelers. Spacious comfort room, very good breakfast. Everywhere the ideal cleanliness. Very helpfull and friendly staff. We spent 3 nights at the hotel and we were very satisfied.
We used the Hotel as a base for visiting some of the major cultural centres in the region. The Hotel was ideally placed near the station and permitted us easy travel to Bruges, Lille and the centre of Gent also. Leiden and Amsterdam were visited to and from Schipol Airport. The Hotel was comfortable, clean and the breakfast was extremely acceptable as part of our package. It represented excellent value for money in our opinion. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable on check in, ensuring that we had maps and knew about the trams to and from the historic centre. A short walk from the hotel across a nearby park you can find a wonderful art gallery that is certainly worth a visit if you have a spare couple of hours.
We needed to spend one night in Ghent for an almost business like trip. The breakfast was comprehensive and very good. The room was good. The parking very small. Despite being on the street side, we did not hear the tram much. Pleasant restful night.
It's an Average Hotel at Good Location. Do not expect warm welcome at Reception, Room carpet was dirty although it's on a good location with good breakfast. If you want to stay near to Railway station, you can opt for this.
Within walking distance to the main train station, which was great. Helpful, friendly and pleasant staff. Facilities were clean. However the decor was very tired. My aircon never worked properly and leaked a lot of water. However, these things happen and I reported it to reception and I am sure they would of addressed it. Breakfast was fine, but was not amazing as indicated in other reviews. Overall it was fine but I was not convinced enough to say that I will stay there again. However, for the price you cannot go wrong.
The Hotel Best Western Chamade we already frequented in 2014 and 2013 so this was not the first time we were there. To be honest, since we arrived, we were warm welcomed by Ludwig, the receptionist, who took time to explain everything and to give also some tips for visiting Ghent. Since we had chosen the hotel because we had to go a Philippine-Belgian anniversary of the fraternal organisation Knights of Rizal, we also knew we would arrive very late in the evening (actually it was after midnight we came back to the hotel). Since we had in the early morning an obligation again we had to leave early with the train. Since on Sunday the breakfast only starts 8 a.m. I requested a while ago to the hotel if we could have some bread etc. for breakfast before, so we could take a very early breakfast in our room. Unbelievable: they suggested for us to prepare a lunch packet that would be offered upon our arrival so we could put it in the refrigerator, so we would not miss a healthy and strong breakfast. And indeed, upon our arrival, everything was ready. Congrats for all this! Clean rooms! Great facilities. Sincerely not 3 * worth but surely 4. To be honest in some so called 4 * hotels you don't get so much value for your money. Congrats, staff and management of the cosy Chamade Best Western!
Nice hotel, not expensive at all, good position just in front of a tram way station, excellent breakfast (bacon and eggs very good), bed confortable, internet connection powerful. Only negative thing there is no restaurant/bar inside the hotel.
I stayed at the Chamade for five nights in November 2015. Upon arrival, I was given a standard single room, which was REALLY small. Considering that I was planning to stay a week, I asked for a larger room and was given a double room for my own use. This room was ok, but since it faced the street just by the trolley stop, it was quite noisy. So I asked for a change (again) and ended up on floor 5, in another double room which was really nice and relatively quiet. Got a lot of work done there! When checking out, the proprietor didn´t charge anything extra, although I had upgraded my room – generous! The hotel is situated close to Gent St Piters railway station. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Old Town. Breakfast is served in a nice room on the 6th floor with a nice view, but the breakfast selection is rather limited.
Small room , very much noise from the street / tram . No airco . Bad ventilation .No-smoking room with smoking air ? ? ? The personal at the reception are very friendly . Also the personal that cleans the rooms .
We were here for the Davis Cup Final at Flanders Expo so this hotel had an excellent location mid way between the city centre & the stadium. The tram line between the two locations has a stop at the hotel door. St. Pieters Station is only 200 m. away with a few restaurants on the square opposite the station. We always used The Rambler restaurant as did some others from the hotel. Our room on the5th floor was a triple (3 singles) with a dual outlook. It was large, well appointed & bright. The bathroom was modern & a good size. Breakfast was in a room on the 6th floor with city views. The food at breakfast was good. Staff were friendly & helpful. We were glad we booked this reasonably priced hotel for what turned out to be a great weekend.
This is a nice hotel in a very convenient location not terribly far from Ghent City Center. The facility is nicely done and has idiosyncrasies that can make hotel stays more interesting. The rooms are more than adequate, the service is good with friendly staff and the morning breakfast is decent. The room rates are very fair considering the location and the competition in the area. I was loaded down with a piece of extra luggage when coming in from BRU to Ghent by train. As a consequence, I was looking for a hotel within walking distance to the station. This hotel caught my eye as a good choice because of location, price and the fact that I am a BW Platinum member. I decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, I got my bearings coming out of the front entrance of the main station. It became clear that, as hoped, the hotel was a straight shot down the road and an easy 5 or 6 minute walk, even with a relatively heavy load. This was what I needed at the time and it turned out to be a rather convenient choice. The building architecture was somewhat interesting as it conformed to the shape of the acute corner on which it was located. It almost had a pie-wedge form. The lobby area was actually quite nice as it had the look of a comfortable living space and was roomier than most lobby areas in European hotels of similar style. I was checked in by a very friendly and helpful front desk agent. I was given a room on the 3rd floor facing south. The room itself was more than adequate in terms of space and was very clean. The bathroom was decently laid out and the desk area provided a nice working space. The amenities were in place and the WiFi worked relatively well during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the environs were quiet allowing me to get good sleep. The view from the room was unfortunately fairly uninteresting. The location was not only convenient to the train station but was also not terribly far from the old city center. It was perhaps a 20-minute minute walk or so to St. Nicholas Church and the old medieval part of this lovely city. There were also a few dinner options that were within reasonable walking distance though the number of choices were not huge. The breakfast room was on the top level. It was comfortable and right-sized from my perspective. The breakfast offerings were pretty decent and I found it to be adequate. There was a small balcony that, unlike my room, offered a nice view of the surrounding area. The room rates were very good for this facility. My bill was €88.50 per night including a Tourist Tax. This was very close to $100 USD with the exchange rate at the time. Overall, this is a nice hotel with a touch of character that will make your stay interesting. The facility is relatively nice and the location is very convenient to Sint Pieter's Station. It is also not far from city center if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The rooms are sufficiently comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is pretty good and the room rates are absolutely more than fair. It is a very good deal and I would tend to recommend this place to anyone in town for a visit who is looking for value.
This hotel appears a little tired in places, but the room was clean and large and bed very comfortable. A little noisy from neighbouring rooms as insulation in the walls may not be great. Breakfast was fine and coffee machine produced lovely coffee. Staff were always very pleasant and helpful, a special thank you to Pierre for printing off my boarding pass for my flight home. The location is brilliant for railway station, Ghent old town and Expo, and number 1 tram runs past hotel and takes you to all locations.
Excellent location close to train station. Very friendly staff, very clean and excellent choice of breakfast, would recommend. Very good value for money. Rooms at front of hotel can be a bit noisy with the trams, but at the back of the hotel very quiet.
Comfortable hotel with a decent breakfast, very handy location and great, friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again. Walking distance from the station and track, tram from right outside to the city centre.
This hotel is very handy for the railway station where you can easily get to Antwerp, Brugges and Ostend. The town is about a 15 minute walk away, but there is a tram stop just outside the hotel should you not wish to walk. There are a few fast food places and a nice pleasant bar nearby too. The staff are really friendly. Reception closes at 10pm, but the hotel have a box outside and will supply a code to obtain your room key. Rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. Free Internet and excellent breakfast buffet. Have now stayed here twice, and would definitely stay here again.
Very Pleasant receptionist at arrival. However the Hotel has a checkout policy at 11:am and also breakfast is served between 08:00 and 10:00 so it you went out late on saturday night you might be missing breakfast and on top of it have to make sure to be out by 11:00 unless you want to pay 40 eur extra for a late checkout.
I said in the best Western Hotel Chamade in Ghent for business purposes during the Film Festival. The location is excellent, next to the station and close to all public transport. Reservation of a spot in the garage to park the car is advisable.
I had to wait an hour before the room was ready, even though it was after hours check-in. Despite this the rest all ok , spacious room, great breakfast and very friendly staff. Last but not least, Ghent is a fantastic city.
Good location, near train station and tram stop. There are small bakery and friut shop near by. I walked to the old town for 15 minutes in stead of by tram. On the way I also found many restuarants and chocalate shop.
The bed was too soft. The room could use an update after more then 25 years (date on papers inside the closet: 1988!) Breakfast was excellent. Friendly staff. Very close to the trainstation Gent Sint Pieters.
Situated closely to main train station and bus stop for city center; Extensive breakfast included; Convenient room with mini bar and comfortable bed; Very good service including luggage storage; A bit expensive
Tram stop is directly outside the hotel taking you in to the centre , staff are helpful and knowledgeable on the local area. This hotel is fine for a weekend break although I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic weekend away. The breakfast wasn't very good and the bar is almost nonexistent. Unfortunately our bath didn't drain away very well on closer inspection it was a build up of hair in the plug hole, the rest of the room was clean. If you like plush you won't find it here, but if you are happy with functional then it's perfectly adequate and I wouldn't be put off.
