"stuffy, tiny, noisy"

This is a convenient location, but the hotel is hot and stuffy, have to keep the windows open, so street noise interrupts sleep all night. It cost me 160 CHF per night and is not great value at that price. For a few CHF more you can stay in nicer, airier places.

"Hotel in Geneva"

Great located for the hotel, across the street from the train station and lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel room was pretty basic and a little dated but fine for a few days in the city. Good value for a room in the city. There is no parking at the hotel but you can park in the parking lot at the train station.

"Hot and dark"

We were only in Geneva for one night - that is all I would stay in this hotel. It is really dated, the room is so dark all done out in dark chocolate left over from the early 70's I am sure. There is no air - conditioning. Truly a horrible night. On the plus side...yes there is one ... short walk to the railway station... very short walk to the truly beautiful waterfront...plenty of good restaurants nearby. We loved Geneva but hated going back to the hotel.

No Air conditioning in this hotel in 95 degree temp they offer you a table fan. I refused to stay there and they would not return my money. Still I did not stay there due to excessive heat so you can imagine how terrible it must be. There are other hotels in the same lane with a/c. PLEASE DONT STAY HERE. No help from Best western either for my refund.

I was introduced to this hotel by the CFF travel service - since then, I've stayed here several more times since it is such a good value and so conveniently located near the train station. Staff and service has always be friendly and helpful.

"Best Western Strasbourg"

Location The Best Western is ideally located - just a 5 minute walk from the train station and around 20 minutes to the Old Town. This meant that we could just hop on the train at the airport and didn't have far to transport our luggage. It is a street down from the main road and therefore away from direct traffic noise. Employees Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very welcoming, and gave us a quick guide to the city and the transport. This was the same for every member of staff we met during our stay there. The Room Our room was at the back of the hotel, and therefore may have been the reason why we didn't experience as much noise as some of the previous guests. You do get noise - for example people talking, bin collectors etc but this is to be expected when you're staying in the city centre. The room was home to two twin beds, a desk, and a bathroom. It was decorated in quite an old fashioned way (with some very unique paintings) but it was clean and tidy. We felt the room was big enough for the two of us - but we had never planned to spend a lot of time in here so having a large room was not a priority. Although we travelled in September, the temperature did reach 25/26 degrees however we did not find the heat a problem. The hotel supplied a large fan which was sufficient to keep the room cool during the night. Breakfast The breakfast was basic and consisted largely of pastries, bread (and a toaster), yoghurt, fruit and cereal. Summary This hotel is perfect if you want a good location with friendly staff, and you plan to spend most of your days exploring Geneva and the surrounding areas.

In 95 degree temp this summer they offered me a table fan in my rooms. It was unbearable to stay in such heat as they would not disclose anywhere that hotel has no air conditioning. I booked 2 rooms and they would not refund my money as I refused to stay there in such heat. I did not even stay in the room for more than 5 minutes. Criminals.

"Great value for money and friendly staff"

We visited last September/October time (2017), the hotel is a short walk from the train station. We were lucky in getting a modern refurbished room. The room was clean and a great size for the two of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting places we must visit. The only area for improvement for the hotel is the breakfast, it was very basic with little to offer. Opposite the hotel is a restaurant/bar called Les Brasseurs - would recommend visiting here for food and for the beer, great atmosphere!

"Very good in many ways but no airconditioning"

Positives: Less than 100m from train station (only the Hotel Bernina is closer on that side of the station). Rooms are small but very clean; extra pillows; friendly and helpful desk staff. Free bus/tram passes (we went to UN and Red Cross HQs by tram). Ten minutes to walk to the lake. Nearby middle eastern/Morrocan restaurants; we also enjoyed Bombay restaurant, but none are inexpensive. There are more snack options and a small grocery store in the train station. Completely acceptable simple cold breakfast buffet. There is a "free" cell phone to use in the room--we did not know what that meant but you can try it out and see. Negatives: This echos some of the previous reviews but provides more perspective. We stayed on two separate nights about a week apart. Yes, the elevator is tiny and only holds one person and luggage, but operates quickly and the stairs are next to it (so use the stairs and do not complain). What does no air conditioning mean?: It is over 80 degrees Fahrenheit in Geneva in the summer. The rooms have windows that tilt open (no screens but we had no insects). When you close the curtains at night there is, then, no fresh air circulating. Using the shower makes the room warmer still. Are you miserable= no; are you moderately uncomfortable= yes; do you survive the night= of course. The fan in each room helps quite a bit (and can mask some street noise). The cost of 133CHF is really quite inexpensive, so you can decide. Room 309 faces the street so noisier; on our second stay we asked for a room facing the quieter parking lot (402) and it had a bigger room and bigger shower and two windows (but no circulation when the curtains are closed at night). We also received a fruit plate on our second visit for unknown reasons, but it was good. As usual in Europe, no wash cloth, only liquid shower soap, no lotion (so bring your own).

"Worst nightmare"

When you enter the hotel it looks old and raggedy. The person at the front desk is nice, he gives bus passes for our stay and parking ticket for a rebate on the parking price. The elevator lift is tiny you can barely fit 2 people in there with any luggage. The hallways are kind of dark with an old smell to them and the rooms are frightening. Rooms are tiny you can't even open luggage on the floor, they're dark and the carpet smells. Worst of all no AC in August when it was 30 degrees, they give you a small fan from the 1900s and outside is very noisy until at least 3am, good luck sleeping. Breakfast is ok, nothing special. Will definitely never go back and never recommend this hotel. Too many improvements to be done.

"Very hot no air condition unit"

Check was friendly and quick.rooms are very hot no air conditioning and we found out that they turn the hot water down in summer so for 2 days it was cold outside so we wanted a hot shower no it is luke warm . We asked for it to be turned up but no . Paper cups in rooms for tea and coffee but we asked and got China ones. It has a safe in the room . Rooms are Just big enough for two but not really 2. Big suitcases so we had to open them on the bed . The location is great for train station.and a 5 min walk to lake . There is a shop to get milk groceys 3 or 4 shops around the corner. You get given passes for transport free to use in the city plus a wifi mobile phone to use while out .it could be better but you pay for what they offer if you don't like it it's better to book else where but location for us was they key for the trains

"Not the best!!!!"

This hotel has no air conditioning, the lift is only big enough for one person,it's really noisy & the room was small & quite clostrophobic!! All in all not to be recommended!! Breakfast was okay but not great! All rather disappointing as Best Western are usually fairly good!!

"Extended trip"

Had a very good first trip in Geneva thanks to the homely stay here. Loved the central location and good breakfast. The rooms could do with the addition of air conditioning but the fan made up for the warm weather. Enjoyed the stay.

I had a reservation this month and upon check in I found out that they do not have any air conditioning in this hotel. It was 95 degree temp and they ate offering me a table fan. did not live there as I was lucky to get room in a neighboring hotel with A/C. They would not refund my money stating that " we did not advertise that we do have an airconditioning in the hotel". Shame on them.

"Noisy location"

Positives: Great location for the lake and train station. Room size was ample (double). Friendly staff. Clean room. Negatives: Stiflingly hot in the rooms, with a very weak fan. We had to sleep with the windows open, although the hotel is directly opposite a noisy bar so we didn't get much sleep due to noise (when windows were open) or heat (when closed). Breakfast selection was limited. Lift claustrophobic. Shower head same height as my shoulder, so difficult to wash hair in shower. Bathroom tap spat water over floor as the sink is badly angled. It was nice enough, but I certainly wouldn't choose to stay here again, especially in the summer.

"only as a last resort in the summer"

my family used this hotel twice during our most recent trip to Switzerland (the 2nd time only because we had made a non-refundable reservation)... the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was simple, the price was not expensive, you're only 2 blocks from the train station...all great reasons to use this place if you're on a budget but it is very noisy and very hot in the summer (no A/C) there's always a party going on outside in the alley and back parking lot and it doesn't matter if you're down low or up high -the noise seems to last half the the summer, the rooms are like 95 degrees even with the fan the hotel provides you is not safe to walk around this hotel at night no sleep someone else who has stayed here in winter or cooler season will have to comment if the parties still go on with the yelling and car honking ...I would imagine the rooms get more comfortable in a different season the front desk attendant was rude on one occasion and good on the 2nd....but they can't do anything about the 2 big problems- noise and uncomfortably hot rooms I will stay somewhere else next time in Geneva

"Great location but rooms are a concern"

So before I booked this hotel I read the reviews and was a little concerned about the number of reviews complaining about the hot rooms. However based on the price and location I decided to book.... The hotel has some good positives but also some concerns: The negative reviews are absolutely right and worth seriously considering before you book. - dark rooms which lack a large ceiling light. - tiny lift which can realistically fit one person comfortably in. - very hot rooms( a stand alone fan was provided) but was noisy and did not create a wide breeze - noisy street especially early Monday morning - rubbish collection appears to be ongoing from m 5am. Positives - great central location - welcoming staff especially Jean Phillippe and the lady at breakfast - safe provided in room - a handy electronic device to use throughout the stay

"Fantastic service and comfortable rooms"

Me and my partner stayed here. Firstly; they have staff at the check in desk which is 24/7 so luckily, they had no problem with the fact our flight was delayed. The staff were excellent the whole time. They gave us advice on where and how to watch the football, allowed us to keep our luggage there after check out due to a late flight home and gave us travel tickets and advice on how to get around. The breakfast was nice with a good variety of different things. It is a cold breakfast so please don't expect a dry up. But they have Swiss cheese and Swiss hot chocolate too which is a nice touch. The rooms were large and they have very comfortable beds. The windows are noise proof which was good due to the bar outside being loud in the evening. I honestly cannot fault this place. Fantastic value for money, excellent service and brilliant location right by the station and walking distance to everything! Thank you for having us!

"Noisy "

Room was decent enough for a couple of nights, but paper cups for tea and coffee making facilities was a bit cheap. Breakfast was OK. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The big let down was the noise from the surrounding area at night time, it wasn't easy to sleep.

"Good choice but not for summer"

The location is absolutely perfect for the shops, restaurants, a stroll to the lake or to the train station. You can get a free train ticket at the airport (walk through baggage collection to the ticket machines and use the one on the right to push a button for a ticket). The hotel then gives you a free card for travel during your stay so the ride back is free too, making the hotel price very reasonable. Not to mention a lovely breakfast buffet included with breads, spreads, yoghurts, fruit, hot drinks machine, cereal and pastries. There is a Coop mini shop and a large Migros supermarket within a minutes walking. The train station also has a medium size Migros which was handy on our way back from trips. Ok ok, I knew that it didn't have air conditioning when booking and it wasn't too bad with the floor standing fan at night but it wasn't pleasant at all during temperatures of 26 Celsius during the day. So make sure you're out and about during daylight hours! On the other hand I bet this is a really cosy place in the cooler months. Reception staff could not have been more helpful, appreciated the efficient check in and out.

"Certainly will return!"

We generally use the opinions of other Trip Advisors when selecting a hotel out of our comfort zone. This was a great example of the wisdom of said folks. The hotel is central to virtually everything and all or most within walking distance. Unsure of our directions we approached the manager on duty Joel. He spent much time explaining the walking route to a restaurant selection and repeatedly queried that we understand his heed. A true professional in every sense of the word. After directing us he asked...did you see the cell phone on the desk and I said no.. Im sure he explained it at check in. We found the cell phone was for our use free of charge for whatever we needed...calls..directions..etc. We will be back upon our next European Vacation. Enjoy!!

"Excellent location 2 blocks from train station walking distance from the Rhone"

Excellent service, front desk goes out of their way to help. Central location on a street that does not have high traffic. Easy access to Airport, travel by train takes 7 minutes from trans station, entrance to train station one block away. Rooms were clean, nice breakfast

"Good and Bad"

Hotel reception and breakfast staff very efficient; beds very comfortable; room was quiet overlooking courtyard. However, there were problems - no aircon and room fan was unable to cope so the room was day and night too warm to be comfortable; bathroom radiator could not be turned off; bathroom ventilation fan did not work despite being reported to reception; bath wall handle to loose to be usable; kettle in room but tea, milk and sugar was never replenished and had to go to reception daily for these items.

"Convenient Location"

Spent 2 nights at this charming hotel. An easy walk from the train and bus stations. Very nice breakfast, regretted that we had to leave too early our last day and had to miss out. Will definitely stay here next time.

"Good for business trip"

The location is good, near every thing such as restuarant, exchange, migros and coop. The train station is just 2 min walk and the airport by bus no 5 is about 20 min. Breakfast was good to start a day. In room, they did not charge water and tea on second day. My room was clean at all. They gave me the room as an early check in upon my request by email. So it was a chance to rest after a long trip.

"Business trip"

I was there for a business trip. The good things are the location and the size of the room. The bad ones are the old fashioned look and the low cleaning. Its an average hotel in the overpriced Geneva. Also breakfast is not bad. Not particularly recommended!

"A good location arrivng by train"

We drove to Geneva and the location of this hotel is not design for car. It is difficult to park in front just to load and unload luggage. The location is very good for walking to all the site of Geneva. But it is noisy at night and the room are hot no AC and we were there in April Temp in mid 20's. It is not a full breakfast, no hot food, more a gloried continental breakfast.

"Good not perfect"

The reception staff were exceptional here. The location is great. The breakfast was pretty good. I wanted to love this place, but I couldn't. The plugs were very old fashioned which meant that standard plug converters don't work, but I managed to borrow a couple from reception. The major drawback was that the room just wasn't clean. There was no attempt to clean the dust from anywhere apart from the easily viewable areas. If the cleaning were improved then it'd be great!

Dear Tony, We thank you for your comments which will enable us to improve our service. Best regards from Geneva.

"Best Western Hotel Strasbourg"

Hi, Location : The hotel is just two streets away (5-10 min walk) from the front of the Train station Room : The room space is sufficient to open 2 29" luggages side by side. Breakfast : Decent Surrounding : There are fast-food restuarants around the hotel corner; KFC & Holycow . COOP ( 1 street away ) and Migros (at the Train station) nearby. Cheers moncapu

"Wonderful staff and location, NOT wheelchair accessible"

I chose this hotel for a number of reasons. 1. The BW name. 2. The walking distance to the lake and other places. 3. The reviews. The staff was great. Jean-Philippe, who I think is the manager, was so helpful, friendly, and kind. If not speaking French is a concern, be assured that his English is perfect. What I also love about the "free" (included) breakfast is, they have plain yogurts, in addition to the sweet ones we get at hotels in the US. The rooms were quiet and clean. The one drawback was the tiny elevator that, believe it or not, even a small folding wheelchair did not fit in. We had to take my daughter out of her chair to get her in! The elevator is literally large enough for two very friendly people, or one person and luggage. Jean-Philippe helped us out every time getting her up and down.

"Great hotel"

Small, kind of old but very clean and what's best is that it is within walking distance of all the main attractions and the train station. Breakfast included with enough to start your day well fed. The employees are the nice and helpful

Lovely continental brekkie. Friendly reception staff and very helpful. Perfect English. Room lovely and clean. Bathroom modern. Cleaners good. Room could do with being a tad warmer but not much and it certainly wasn't cold. Just think the hotel could do with a better reception evening area, somewhere you could sit, keep warm and grab a beer.

Just spent a weekend at this hotel and couldnt fault it in the slightest. Two minute walk from the train station in a quiet side street. Patrick on reception checked us in, very polite, smiling and helpful. Rooms bit small but perfectly okay. Bed very comy and very clean room. Would stay here again if i came back to the lovely city of Geneva

"Pleasant hotel near train station"

3 minutes from the train station. View was onto a back street, not very nice but quiet. Got a newly renovated room, small room but comfortable, all there what you need, safe, cupboard, coat hangers, mini bar, friendly service, modern bathroom. Breakfast buffet small but all there to get you going in the morning, including fresh fruit. Very good value for money.

"Nice breakfast "

5 minutes walk from Geneva station. About 20 minutes walk to Geneva old town. The hotel was clean and overall good value for money. The pictures on the walls were a bit strange (we had one of a lady that was facing the bed so looked like it stared at us all night!!). The lift also didn't work, which meant dragging our luggage up 3 floors of stairs. The breakfast was included in the price and was really nice. Unlimited fresh pastries and juice! Would stay again.

Chris H, Front Office Manager at Best Western Hotel Strasbourg, responded to this review
Many thanks for having taken the time to post your comments after your stay with us. Indeed, we have had a technical problem with our elevator during last week-end. Fortunately our lift is working correctly again now. With best regards.

"Good hotel"

Although the rooms might need some renovation as they look pretty tired, we found this hotel very comfortable and a good value for the price. The service is exceptional with warm staff helping with any requests you might have. The location is great - 5 min from station and 10 min walk from the lake. Lots of restaurants around. The complimentary breakfast was good. Rooms were comfortable but can get pretty hot in the night. We had a room to the street and found the noise level acceptable. Although a light sleeper might be a bit disturbed. All in all, it will be our first choice for Geneva given the good price - value ratio.

"Excellent, convenient location"

I really liked the Strasbourg. It was just around the corner from the train station. They had a marvelous included breakfast. The front desk personnel were extremely helpful. They were perfectly happy to speak English or were very patient in allowing me to use my college French. Overall, a lovely hotel.

"very good for a weekend trip"

Stayed there in a single room from Friday to Saturday. A bit dingy like most of the Best Western Hotels. Good Location just next to the Train Station. Check in/ Check out was fast and very friendley! Room was clean and not to big with 1 window. Bath small but ok, Soap dispender over the sink and in the shower. Rooms can be a bit noisy from the other guests or from the People on the street. Bed was very comfortable. Minibar is in room, Wifi is fast and for free with Password. Breakfast is OK for the 3* not very much to choose but good. Many Shops and Restaurants around the Hotel. When you wanna go for a run, i can recommend to run down a short distance to the lake Geneva and run just next to it or also a great run is from the lake along Rotten river and then along Arve river to the French boarder, very great small running path after a few km. Check it out on Google maps. Easy to explore most of Sightseeings from the loaction. For Transportation from the Airport i can recommend to get an free Train ticked before you leave the security area @ the Airport! Trainstation is connected to the Airport, every few minutes leaving Trains to Geneva main Station, easy Walking distance to the Hotel, even with more luggage! The way back from the Hotel you can use your free Geneva Transportation ticket what you will get on check in, so same way back with the Train to the Airport! Very good and easy. So for a Weekend it was a good choice!

"A little shabby but good location . "

At 150 euros per night Inc breakfast we should regard this as great price for a down town Geneva hotel , Geneva is super expensive any time of year ! Here's the low down: Location: Good (near the main train station) Restaurant : no (Good bar with food across the street) Breakfast : continental style and quite good (Get down early as all the good stuff goes quick, the coffee is horrid but don't panic there is a Starbucks on the street corner) Reception area : old but clean Room : very noisy and run down / very old fashioned decor. ( didn't sleep well due to the noise) Bathroom: poor condition and need updating badly. (no excuses for mould in the shower cubical!) Wifi : free and fast , which was a nice surprise.

"Perfect location for Travel"

Situated just opposite the main station and within a short walk of the old town, this is perfect base to settle down.Rooms are pretty basic but clean, not very big but breakfast was adequate also. One for a budget stay in Geneva-if you are looking for a little more luxury then you will have to pay for it through the nose in Geneva. Staff were friendly and I would say this is a 3 star standard hotel in general.

The room was small but very clean and an efficient use of the space. The hotel was clean overall and the staff very nice. A light continental with great coffee. Lots of places to walk to surrounding the hotel. Would easily stay again and it appeared mostly a business hotel.

A friendly, clean property, two blocks away from the railway station. The double-bed room units are very cosy, the breakfast perfectly adequate and the staff very helpful. There are plenty of local and international restaurants nearby.

"Very comfortable place for business trips"

Room was comfortable and clean. But there are different types of rooms in this hotel: modern and more fashionable, and also very small rooms with one-and-a-half bed. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was not bad for this category of hotels in Geneva. Very convenient disposition, between railway station and lake. A lot of shops near hotel.

"Great hotel, location, rooms, value"

The hotel is a 5 min walk from Geneva central station. The Geneva central Station is 10 mins from the airport. The public transport is good in Switzerland. The hotel is clean, well decorated, staff friendly, you get a free bus and train pass, room size was fine. The is a TV in room, towels, hair dryer. The breakfast was simple but fine for us. Luggage room for storing cases. Easy walk into the Old Town, can walk across the bridge and see the Jet. All attractions are waking distance. Really safe area. Would recommend this hotel

"Very convinient"

Had a two day visit in Geneva. Hotel idealy located very close to Cornavin Gare. Was expecting smaller room but it came out much bigger. Very fast check in. Patrick the receptionist was very polite. Breakfast very delicious. Near hotel is a mini brewery so it makes much more easily your choise for night out. Would come again.

"Wonderful location"

I found that hotel is located very front of train station and centre of public transportation location. It was really easy to tu\\ouring around and there were a lot of restaurant, bars and all attractions around . Hotel food was complementary and staff was very helpful to find interested area and good food.

"Very average"

This is a three star hotel at best, Staff were pleasant, Breakfast was very average. Small room and the smallest lift I have ever been in. No air con. Close to train your Dragon,OK if you just want a bed.

Few steps from the main train station and with a public parking just on the back, this hotel is really convenient. I have been staying here a few times over the years for my infrequent business trips to Geneva, with full satisfaction. It is not expensive (for Geneva), too. However, they have a fully functional reception, good medium-sized rooms with modern functional bathrooms, good breakfast buffet. Good free wifi too. The carpet on the floors and the too soft mattress are the only thing I don't like but alas..

"Not the Best"

I've given this Hotel only 2 stars but it does have some good things, these being: 1. Friendly, helpful staff (especially on breakfast duties) 2. The breakfast is decent. 3. The rooms have beds. Ok, the bad things: 1. Bad place to sleep.Neither me nor my wife managed to sleep very well at all while there (only 2 nights, fortunately). 2. The reason for the lack of sleep was because the hotel is situated on a busy (noisy) road with a typical continental restaurant on the pavement right opposite. 3. No air conditioning. The weather was hot so at night we were faced with either having the windows open for fresh air (but also letting in all the noise of the street) or close the windows and having to run a big noisy fan. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone who likes to sleep at night.

In the context of Geneva not bad value. Rooms on the small side and no airconditioning so may not be suitable for July and August. Very friendly service, would stay here again. Good location just opposite the station but the hotel is on a side street so it's much quieter than the plethora of hotels diresctly overlooking Geneva main station.

"Perfect location but...."

The reason I gave a 2 star is because it has no air conditioning, which I didn't realise until I walked in the room on a very hot day. All it had was a pedestal fan that had a timer on it. I have since read a few of management replies about most 3 star hotels not having air con, to me that is a cop out. Even a ceiling fan would have been better than the cheap fan that was in the room. Result was lack of sleep and not enjoying Geneva as we should have because we were so tired. If it had air con my review would have been 3 to 4 stars. The location is perfect. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. I would have thought being a best western it would have had tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was super hard. The internet was good. The breakfast was ok. Sadly I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.

"Noisy and NO A/C!!!!"

I booked this hotel because we had a 530 train out of Geneva in the morning. My family stayed here only one night. We had four rooms to accommodate seven people. The big thing here is there is no air conditioning! Literally, we had to open our windows and put oscillating fans in front of them. And this was in July. By morning, everyone in my family was cranky and tired. There is a very active bar next-door so while your windows are open and you can hear the drunks out in the street until the very wee hours walking under your window. The only upside is that the clerk who works the front desk is as sweet and courteous as you could want in anybody.

Dear Amber, I thank you for posting your comments concerning your stay with us. Indeed, our property has no air-conditioning at all, like many, -if not most- three-star properties in Geneva. Being close-by the Geneva railway station is convenient if you are to make use of the train, however the railways station area is also where you have the most restaurants and pubs. Thanking you again for your stay with us.

"Great city hotel for short term stay"

The room on the whole was ok. Nothing major wrong with it. The only slight moan I have is that the room is very small. So for a couple of nights, perfect, but for any longer... maybe be uncomfortable. It was a hot day too, and there is no air conditioning however we did have a fan in our room already which helped a great deal. Check in and reception was fabulous. Would stay again for a standard city break.

Dear Amichoo, We thank you for having posted your comments regarding your stay with us. Indeed, it has been unusually hot these past days in Geneva. Thanking you for your stay with us and looking forward in welcoming you again maybe some other time in the future.

"Disappointing for Best Western"

Normally choose Best Western hotels for their quality- but I agree with other recent reviewers. Our room was far too warm for comfort and the fan provided made very little difference. Opening the window only led to the noise from outside interrupting sleep further. No tea or coffee in rooms. On the plus side, Jean-Pierre at reception is great and the breakfast was ok. Would not recommend.

Chris H, Front Office Manager at Best Western Hotel Strasbourg, responded to this review
Dear James B We thank you for having taken the time to post your comments. Tea & coffee is available at the front desk where you can pick up one of our boilers. Indeed, our property has no air-conditioning at all. This is however, the case for most three-star hotels in Geneva. With best regards.

"Lots of Street Noise"

We stayed at this hotel on the last day of our vacation. The hotel has a great location, one block from the train station and walking distance to the lake. The room was clean and comfortable but there is no air conditioning, and the street noise was very disturbing. Things didn't quite down until around 2:30 - 3:00 in the morning.

"Great location and silent rooms"

This hotel is really easy to find, just few hundred meters from central station. We booked the room just a week before arrival and we were surprised positively that price was really good. The best thing about the room is silence - its possible to open the window and get fresh air without much noise from the street. Hotel stuff was friendly and although low price, it still included breakfast. Room was clean, bed comfortable and free wifi was rather fast. There is no conditioner in the room, so it could have been a bit cooler in the room during heatwave last week.

"Excellent service and friendly staff"

Rooms are small. If you are American, bring a towel/wash cloth and soap as rooms do not have these. You can buy at a shop around the corner. No A/C - you have a fan in your room. Windows open to a noisy street with bar across the way. No sleep if the window is open. Overall clean and located very close to the train station. Good value.

"Hot but charming"

The prices of hotel rooms in Geneva are extravagant - even higher than in London, so I thought I had made a good deal when I found a double room in Hotel Strasbourg for 150€ a night. For that price (non-refundable) I assumed (my bad, I admit - I should have checked more carefully) there would be airconditioning in the room (most BW hotels where I have stayed have had it), but it had only a fan which couldn't cool down the room in the hot weather which prevailed during the first couple of days of our 3-night stay. However, the last day of our visit was cooler, so the last night in Hotel Strasbourg went well sleepwise, unlike the other two. In the summer months the hot room without aircon probably means goodbye to a good night's sleep to most people - at least I would not choose this hotel again for a summer visit. Nevertheless, I could stay there again in some other season. The location of Hotel Strasbourg next to the railway station was convenient for us as we travelled to other cities too, though it definitely wasn't the best part of Geneva. The hotel itself had some old-fashioned charm, the room was big and cosy and the breakfast sufficient (yet slightly boring). Also, the staff was polite and helpful. Having read some of the previous reviews I had asked for a quiet room (not on the side of the street with bars) and we were given a room on the first floor next to a parking lot. Having to keep the windows open at night, there of course was a lot of noise, but it didn't bother us much. And noise is to be expected in the center if any city.

"Great Location!"

Right near the train station, local transit passes offered by hotel for the duration of our stay, close to all the main sites, nice breakfast. One problem: no air conditioning and it was over 30C while we were there. We were provided a fan which we greatly appreciated and helped but no air circulation even with open windows so difficult to sleep. Front desk and breakfast service A+.

"Perfect Location!"

Great 3-night stay in Geneva thanks to the comfort and location of this hotel. Convenient to Cornavin train station and walking distance to Lake Geneva. Excellent dining choices and markets within walking distance and the room was clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was a nice way to start each day. Service personnel were always pleasant and attentive.

"OK hotel"

I stayed a week for my work which booked and paid for the hotel, so I cannot comment on value. The single room was reasonably sized for Europe. It did not have the tea and coffee making facilities advertised on the web site and the bed was quite lumpy. Location is fantastic - close to all public transport (free for tourists), the lake and shopping. There is no airconditioning (room had a free standing fan) and it did get hot during the day. The major problem was noise. On the first night I was disturbed by noisy neighors in the room next door. They left the next day after which there was no noise from adjacent rooms. There was however, considerable noise from a bar opposite the hotel. It was not so bad when the shutters and windows were closed, but given the lack of airconditioning, this meant a very stuffy room. The staff were very friendly. Decent breakfast.

"worst stay!"

i arrived hot and tired after spending 50 swiss fracs on taxi they tell me I had voucher for travel. I said travel agent hadn't told me. he said on website. i ask for ice and am referred to bar across street. i was given mini bar price list but never use so left it-they told me to take it. my room was over 100 degrees fareinheit. i couldnt sleep and had a 7 am train out of there. i am a world traveler and won't go back to geneva! wirdt experience ever!!!

"Comfortable hotel in a good location"

This hotel is a few minutes from the railway station and all central attractions in Geneva. Our room was very clean, spacious and well equipped. There was a free safe and fridge with mini bar. Free wifi was available in the room. Breakfast was continental style and was very good quality food and drinks. Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival.

"All good, breakfast can be better."

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good rooms with everything you need. None of the English channels work on tv, not a big deal. Superb location and decent price. Restaurants all around and stone throw away from main station. Only disappointment is the breakfast because of lack of any hot food.

Chris H, Front Office Manager at Best Western Hotel Strasbourg, responded to this review
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, Many thanks for posting your review regarding your last stay with us. Indeed, the breakfast we serve is cold Swiss buffet. The breakfast however, is free of charge, offered with the room rate. We do hope on having the pleasure in welcoming you again maybe some other time. With finest regards. Chris - front desk.

"Centrally Located - Small Comfortable Rooms"

The hotel is centrally located, very close to Geneva Train Station ( 5 mins walking ). The hotel is located in between one of the best markets in Geneva, where you can get all grocery, eating outlets like - Pizza, Mcdonalds, Coffee shop. The hotel is also close to major attractions like Jet, Pierre Cathedral etc ( like 15 mins walking). The rooms are small though but comfortable for a couple to stay. Overall a good stay at the hotel and good service by the front desk.

"i kinda enjoyed this place"

hello everybody Here is my impression of BEST WESTERN Hotel Strasbourg. Stayed in March 2017. 1/ Location is absolutely strategic and literally next to Gare de Cornavin ( Geneva main train station), do not forget to get a free ticket from the airport and ask reception for the tourist free pass for all modes of transport in canton during your entire stay in the hotel. I did not actually ask for this free ticket it was given to me at once at the check-in time. 2/ Room. Cozy, about 18-20 sq. m – the actual size varies as the building as lots of angles in its geometry . I stayed in non-renovated section ( just forgot to mention it in the request) - very comfy bed, working desk with a chair, plasma TV, a small table with armchairs, Mini Bar, Coffee And Tea Maker, Safe. Bathroom has a shower cabin ( acrylic) and mirror with sink., No slippers/ no bathrobe. Bathroom amenities provided only in dispensers attached to the wall. All provided towels are very clean and pleasantly soft. 3/ Internet. Free wifi in rooms and public ares, good signal quality but maximum for 3 devices. 4/ Breakfast. Rather average and a bit less than i expected and experienced before in my previous stays in Switzerland. Yet, it was quite enough for productive start of the day: coffee machine, boiled eggs, few cold cuts ( ham and cheese), cereals, selection of jams, croissants and yogurts. 5/ Housekeeping. VERY nice working, invisible and paying a good attention toward their work. High praise. 6/ Access to the lift - free/ room - via key ( a real key, not a key card). You have to leave the key at the reception whilst going out every time. 7/ Reception. All hotel personnel I interacted with were courteous, knowledgeable, spoke English in a good level and showed dedication to their work and genuine care for the guest`s need. Very satisfying and positive attitude. All their recommendations about where to have meal etc were spot on. 8/ Will I stay there again and recommend to my friends – affirmative YES, as the price is simply the best in Geneva and the hotel is perfect for a short stopover/ business trip or leisure stay. If you have further questions about BEST WESTERN Hotel Strasbourg, please do not hesitate to contact me. Schonefeld

"ripped off"

I paid double room for solo use... but i ve got small room. When i asked for double room receptor told me that i ve got it. no way. room no 206 is defenitlly single room ... I was really disapointed not because of the room but because he was looking me in my face and lied ...

"Good location but as a Best Western Diamond Member I Expected More"

I stayed there overnight, the hotel location was perfect just 2 minutes from the train station. Check-in was smooth and quick, and they even provided some free local transport card and some restaurant and entertainment tips. However, I have booked my room directly via Best Western Website, I'm their diamond member and even asked at the check-in which benefits i would receive, he didn't really know however said that I don't need to worry as all their rooms are new and guests usually don't complain. The room I got was definitely NOT new and as i called back to ask about this issue, he told me that they were fully booked and next time I should ask specifically for a room with no carpet and a new room... Was I supposed to know that?! I would expect better room allocation planning especially to en elite member. Furthermore, their safe didn't work and the shower was pretty old.

"Nice hotel in the center"

I will not comment the price since Geneva is extremely expensive.Having in mind prices in other hotels - over 200 euros per night - this hotel seems to be good value. The price was 150 euros. My previous experiences taught me not to expect much in Geneva hotels. This time I was wrong. The room is of a usual Best Western style. It is a small room but with everything you might need, including iron. Well heated and with small but equipped bathroom. If at first sight looks too small, the room is very very comfortable and the size doesn't spoil comfortability. Staff are very polite, very professional and incredibly nice and welcoming. The hotel is in the center, about 500m from the Lake and bridge and 2 minutes from the train station. Breakfast could be better. It is a cold buffe with rather poor choices, especially for those who eat vegan food. They indeed had soya milk and cereals and fruit but nothing else. Nevertheless if I come to Geneva again, I will opt for this hotel.

"Good Location For Short Stay"

Stayed at this hotel in November. The hotel is conveniently located two minutes walk from the train station, however it is in the second street back so the surrounding area is not too noisy. A short walk from the centre of Geneva, 10 minutes from the lake and main shopping area. The hotel is comfortable and well maintained. Facilities within the hotel are more than adequate for a night stay. My room had a spacious en suite as well as a fridge and television. Reception staff are friendly and are more than willing to give advice about the best places to eat and visit in the local vicinity. Particularly grateful to the receptionist on the late shift as I was unsure of where to go for my evening meal, he directed me to the nearby Au Petit Chalet where I had an exquisite fish and rice dish. I opted to have breakfast included in my stay; whilst there was a good selection of sweet pastries and cereals to choose from the selection was otherwise a little limited. However, the selection on offer was to a very high standard. Would stay again if I revisit Geneva.

"Decent rooms and affordable"

The Hotel Best Western Strasbourg is located close to the main station, right in the Centre of Geneva, and within easy access of public transport, tram and bus. The double room is of sufficient size. They are modernly furnished. Disturbing was somehow that the bedspreads are also serving as a quilt. The bathroom is looking a bit odd with the blue sink. The bathtub serves as shower. No toiletries are available except a soap dispenser. Internet is fast and reliable. It is a nice surprise to have some complementary fruits in the room. Singe rooms are tiny. The hotel has no aircon. The continental breakfast is enhanced with some ham, cheese and hard boiled eggs. The bread selection is good. The tiny elevator is not for people with claustrophobia. The staff is attentive and friendly. Everything is extremely clean. This hotel is ideal for guests travelling by public transport. An underground garage is available at the train station, but expensive for long-term parking. Taken into account the reasonable price in costly Geneva, the Best Western Strasbourg is therefore a decent choice.

"Good hotel close to the bus and train terminal"

Good hotel with great location. Close to the train station as well as the bus terminal. Many restaurants nearby. Breakfast is included which was nice even though the selection was limited. The room has a window that can be opened to let fresh air in. Bathroom was spacious. The room does not have carpetting, but it has hardwood flooring. The hotel has a mini fridge with snacks,water/drinks, however it does not have a water kettle.

Very well located and easy to access from the main station. Staff friendly. Rooms fine. We had a double and a twin room. Twin room much bigger and has bath tub. Rooms very hot. Breakfast fine. Wifi worked really well.

"Nice hotel with a great location "

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Hotel was quite good. Located just 100 meters from the main train station. Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very small. Was hard to get to one side of the bed... We had a room to the main street. Was not that noisy has we thought it will be. But room walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the other side of wall. Breakfast was included in the price and was also quite satisfying, even that you had only one type of ham served. Por the price we paid, it was good enough.

"Not room 102"

Well Switzerland was everything I expected really beautiful , really clean , really safe and really expensive. This hotel was a bit more expensive than we would normally pay for a weekend break. But was of our usual standard. Ideally placed one street off the main transport hub - the central bus/tram/train station - close to bars and eateries. Rooms were comfortable - staff were friendly and efficient. We asked for a kettle and were given one and cups and some coffees. Breakfast was ham cheese pastries and coffee usual fare. But fine. Hotel issued a free transport ticket on arrival - Free use of "local" transport for the duration of our stay. Which was great. My only complaint or rather gripe - Was that it was still warm when we visited - there was no aircon. so we had to have the bedroom window open. Unfortunately on Friday and Saturday night there was quite a bit of street noise. There's a bar/club close by and a late takeaway. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great neither. I think our room - on the first floor - on the corner between the Bar/takeaway was probably the worst room - Had we have been on a higher floor it may have been quieter. But all in all - a good hotel - at a reasonable (for Switzerland) price.

"Convenient location"

Picked this hotel as was only staying 1 night and wanted to be near the train station. It is literally around the corner from the train station. Looks more modern on their website than it was in reality. Needs an update. Room is small but was ok for a short stay. Within walking distance of the lake and even of the Old Town. Staff were friendly and efficient

"Would Not Recommend"

We stayed here for two nights during our stay In Geneva. Our room was extremely small with only a chair at the desk for seating. There was no Air conditioning so we had to open the window at night. Unfortunately, the bar/restaurant across the street is open all night. Due to the noise in the street at all hours of the night we had to sleep with the window closed and the room was hot and uncomfortable. the shower had mold in the grout. The TV was mounted on the wall at an angle that the TV could not be seen from the bed. We only had two electrical outlets in the room and the TV and desk lamp were in one. The other outlet blew out, so we disconnected the TV to charge our phones and to dry my hair. The bed was hard and the pillows were small and flat. The lighting was terrible and we had to use a flash light to read anything with small print in the evening. Breakfast is only cold foods. Bring your own shampoo and lotion as it is not provided int he room. We had requested a coffee maker when we booked the hotel and after we registered at the hotel but it never was delivered. We went down and asked for it again in the evening. We were given one to carry up, but also had to ask for coffee, cups and sugar. I would never stay there again and could not believe it was a Best Western Hotel.

"Good value in an expensive city"

The Hotel Strasbourg is conveniently located within walking distance of the RR station and near the Lake of Geneva. In a city which is extremely expensive, this hotel offers good value with clean comfortable accommodations.

"Location, Clean, Modern Small Rooms, Professional Staff"

Hotel Strassbourg (Best Western) Geneva, CH is 1 block from main train station on Rue Pradier 10. It is a modern hotel that mostly caters to business travelers, tourist or those spending a night in Geneva before catching a flight/train onward--a free train ticket to air port is available at front desk. The staff is professional, courteous, friendly. The desk is manned 24/7 which is nice. On our last visit we stayed in a front facing room and opted this time for a room off the main street as the bar across the street had out door seating and many customers late at night. The rooms are some what small as is the shower. There is no a/c but fans are provided, there is a mini bar but there are no alcohol beverages only water, juice, sodas. Our room in back was on a corner so we had a nice cross breeze, alas there was an all night (at least it seemed like it) fast food/convenience store below so there was some noise. The bed was good but the blanket was enclosed between 2 sheets rather like a letter in an envelope so it was difficult to regulate the temperature as you could not throw the blanket off and only use a sheet! There is a large sitting area in the lobby and breakfast is taken in a separate room to the right. Along with rolls/bread there was cereal, yogurt, cold hard boiled eggs, one tray of processed meat and wrapped cheese...not the best but certainly not the worst. There are any number of places to eat with in a 5-10 minute stroll....Geneva is a big city with many beautiful sites/areas, however, at night it's best to stay on the larger well lite streets

"Convenient location, compact, clean and modern"

This is a small hotel conveniently located near the main Cornavin railway station, shopping area and restaurants. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms and bathrooms have modern fittings. The bed is extremely comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are very compact, but that's reflected in the price which is quite low by Geneva standards. Breakfast offerings are limited, but very tasty and served in a comfortable breakfast room. Wi-Fi worked well. Service was courteous and efficient. There might be downsides for some people. The hotel is not air-conditioned which would make it hot in the summer months. No problem in September. Being near to restaurants might cause some guests to be bothered by noise at night, but the double glazed windows masked most of it. A larger person might find it very difficult to actually get into the compact shower cubicle.

"Great location, small room"

The location was great, near the train station. However, the room was very small and the TV cable system didn-t work well. Breakfst was good and the staff was very friendly. I would probably stay here again but request a larger room.

"BW Hotel in the heart of Geneva"

I have been going to Geneva 1 or 2 times per year, recently. The Best Western Hotel Strasbourg was recommended by colleagues for these trips--both for its location and reasonable rates. The BW Strawbourg is very convenient to movement in the business part of the city. It is 1 block from the Gare Cornavin--the Geneva train station--and the main bus/tram hub. It, like other hotels in the city, provide a free bus/tram pass so that getting around Geneva and the near suburbs is easy and free. The location is near many restaurants, shops, and stores. While it is in the center of the city, the insulated windows keep the city sounds from intruding. The BW is decorated in the stark Euro-style that is efficient and more than Spartan. The rooms that I have had were modern, clean, comfortable, and had adequate work space. The staff is friendly, efficient, and very helpful. Laundry was quick and much less expensive than I expected. Breakfast is included, and is continental (real continental, not the sticky buns and coffee we Americans expect). It has sufficient variety to keep me happy during the 2 weeks that I stayed there. The BW, like most European hotels, is not air conditioned. But, I have not found this to be an issue in June nor this overly-warm September. I think that this is a "find", and I recommend it to both business travelers and tourists.

"Good value in a good location."

Good location 5 min. from the train station, or the lake. Room is clean, comfortable, small. Bathroom nice, good size. Breakfast unremarkable, no toaster. Front desk staff was great, very helpful. Bars on street were noisy, but the windows in our street facing room actually shut it out !

"Location is the key"

Just two blocks from the train station is the most positive aspect. Very small rooms but clean. There is a restaurant across the street with outside seating that runs late and we were right across from it at the front of the hotel. However the windows were so well insulated that when closed, we had no noise issue - and I am a light sleeper. There is no restaurant but many close. Unremarkable breakfast but adequate. Location and attentive, friendly staff are its best points.

"Great location"

The staff was friendly and helpful. They were able to provide directions to local areas of interest. The hotel is within a very short distance from the train station and local restaurants. The elevator was rather small, so if you have a lot of luggage, you may have to make two trips (Don't pack so much). Rates were a little high but so is everything in Switzerland.

"Good location, average hotel."

The hotel is in a very good location, near the train station and a few minutes walk from the lake. Room and bathroom was small, decor is on the older side but very clean. Hotel staff were nice, breakfast was included, not a lot of options for vegans (like in the whole country anyways) but the generous amount of fruit available were really appreciated.

"My opinion"

The location was great..the staff were very helpfull..rooms are so nice and clean..wifi is free and high speed..breakfast is included and very good..the location is very close to train station and the lake..

"Perfect location, excellent staff, great experience"

We stayed for one night before departing from Geneva airport -- drove in with four travelers and checked in, then took our car to return it to the rental car company. We had rented the car from another city in Switzerland, and didn't know where the location was at the train station, got completely frustrated and went back to the hotel to see if our friend in the lobby could help. Boy, could he! He looked it up, called to make sure they were open, drew me a map and told me how to get there. Now THAT is service! The room was great, came with an oscillating cooling fan (oh, we needed it), and a "blackout" shutter in case we wanted to sleep in. The breakfast was really good, the area was clean and well kept, plus they had little "trash buckets" on the tables that looked just like adorable decorations, so helpful! The four of us did a good job filling that up, but it saves time for everyone when it's cleaned up. Literally a couple of blocks from the train station, and you get a free pass to all local transportation for the duration of your stay when you stay in a local hotel. VERY handy. We just happened to be there during the Festival of the Lake, what a lucky coincidence! Next time we hope to plan for that and spend more time. Geneva is incredible.

"Great service"

It is in a very convenient location. Very close to the train station and the lake, an easy walk. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly professional. Breakfast is very good, fresh and plentiful. We stayed for five nights using the hotel as a base to explore.

"Close to station"

Probably adequate for short stay but beware the lack of a/c could be a big factor in the summer. Small, somewhat dark rooms, adequate breakfast and helpful front desk. Selected because of location near station.

"Central and Clean"

Good location to stay 5 minutes walk from the Geneve HB. Hotel was clean and 'some' staff friendly and helpful. Room had no aircon only a fan. Breakfast very basic but good. Good for business and and weekends away to Geneve but very basic in what it has to offer.

"Great location and hotel room"

This hotel was chosen for its ideal location - minutes from public transit, the train station, restaurants, tourist attractions, and the waterfront. With respect to the hotel room, it was modern, clean, and very spacious for a European hotel. I had read a negative review, with respect to room size, but I completely disagree. We had a large bathroom, with wasted space, and had plenty of space in the main area to accommodate a bed, 2 night stands, closet, table and chair, lounge chair, and all of our luggage. We still had space to move around the room. I have stayed in rooms, in the past, where it was a challenge to find a place to put 2 suitcases!

"Great place "

Great hotel very clean and friendly staff big shopping centre about 200m down the road down side if u do plan a break make sure u have some money there are no public toilets for free u have to pay and it's very very expensive in Geneva me and the wife had a lovely meal but it cost 180 Swiss frank they do accept euro and Swiss frank but better rate is in Swiss frank. Hotel is a must stay rooms I nice size .

"good location but mediocre"

this is a short distance from the gare where we had to park. It's an old hotel, in a good location, an extremely friendly & helpful staff, but the rooms are mediocre. No A/C, had to open window as fan didn't help much - over alley with a noisy night-life. bed was comfortable but i was inches from the toilette & bumping into it.

"Really basic, but the staff is super friendly."

I stayed at this hotel when the weather was quite hot in Geneva. There is no AC nor any kind of ventilation, so every time you get back to your room it's super hot. There is a fan available to use in front of the window, but it doesnt help much as the hot air need to go out via the same window. And there is a restaurant terrasse with client staying very late just below the windows, so it's noisy with the window open... The bedroom is super small and once you've got the fan and a suitcase, there is really no more room to go around the bed. The lift is also tiny and there is no help nor trolley for the luggages. The breakfast is nice but basic, coffee could be better. Only up side, the staff is very friendly and smiling and welcoming All in all, it's barely a 2* and for what I can see it's quite expensive (my employer booked and paid)

"Nice hotel in very convenient location"

Very convenient location near the station. Pleasant staff. Large room with a window you can open. Great coffee machine as far as coffee machines go in the breakfast room. My only difficulty was that there was no air conditioning and Geneva had unusually warm weather and the room retained the heat. It was very difficult to cool it down even with the window open. A small electric fan is provided.

"Overall better than expected."

I was not happy they didn't have AC, and unfortunately it was very hot the three days we were there. The location was perfect. Breakfast was good and the young ladies were great about refilling the baskets. By far the best part of this hotel was the man who helped us at the front desk, Jean-Phillip. He was amazingly helpful! Listen to him he has great advice.

"Really awful"

No air con, no bedding ( duvet in the wardrobe had no cover ?!?) The noise was beyond anything I had experienced anywhere. I was simply exhausted when my stay there was over as I got zero sleep whilst I was there. The staff are lovely & complementary breakfast is nice but a decent night's sleep would be better. They really need to invest in some bedding & air con so at least the Windows can stay closed and block out some of the partying going on outside ( massive restaurant across the road etc. )

"conveniently located, fair price hotel"

positives: Cheap and centrally located with breakfast included negatives: room and even lobby area is very hot in summer because on no air condition; but they have fan in room which made it fine for us.

"Star ratings mean nothing"

The worst night rest EVER in a hotel. The room we had in the 3rd floor had not had a makeover, as some other rooms have. The room was stuffy and dark, and with no air conditioning remained so for the whole night. Opening the window was not an option as the hotel is just off the Main Street between the station and the lake, with quite disruptive ambient noise. We had a choice between the stifling heat and the noise of cars honking , people shouting and arguing. I found the bed uncomfortable with lumpy pillows. I would definitely not return.

I feel uncomfortable in the room because there is no air conditioning and cannot open window. The room is very humid. At night in summer time, I woke up for a couple of times because of humid. Room is small. Besides room, it is OK though...

"Central location, clean, chic, and reasonably priced"

Convenient, and reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Geneva, the hotel is located 2 minutes walk from the Central train station and is walking distance for Lake Geneva and the Botanical Gardens. The bus, and trams station are also nearby as are a large selection of eating places. whatever your preference you will be well catered for. The staff are very polite and friendly and helpful and most speak English. Free transportation tickets are also provided as well as helpful travel advice. The room is tidy a bit on the small size but still fit for purpose, the decor is nice however it does make the room a bit on the dark side, the bed is comfy with fresh clean linen, the bathroom is modern with a small shower cubicle. A good night sleep was had despite my room fronting onto the square. Breakfast is of the Continental variety, so no fried stuff, boiled eggs, fruit and pasties, which were fresh and tasty. I would recommend and will return when i am next in town

Must be one of the worst experiences in Geneva. In desperate need of renovation, no air condition, barely any lighting in the rooms, no bed covers were supplied in the room and suggested by reception to use the 1970s blankets from the cupboards. Wonder how they still hold on to 3stars. Felt more like a hostel. To avoid!

"great location but noisy and cramped"

Maybe it was just the room I had but it was small and pokey and quite dark. On both nights there were people having an argument outside my window in the square at the back. Difficult to control temperature in the room. Functional rather than great.

"Excellent Value for money"

Myself and my partner stayed here a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The hotel is a little basic but location is fantastic. It was clean and the staff very polite and helpful, I had to ask for a kettle etc for the room which was dealt with straight away. Breakfast is continental and adequate. You can walk everywhere from this hotel and the kebab shop in the square is fantastic and very reasonable. I would certainly stay here again if I returned to Geneva- but would take more toiletries as hotel only supplies an all in one dispenser

"Convenient location"

The hotel is in a very convenient location, directly across from the main train station. We arrived late at night but there were still quite a few restaurants open within the block. Geneva is a very small city so almost everywhere is within walking distance. The hotel does hand out free public transportation ticket, but we didn't even need it. Hotel staff all speak good English, and are very courteous. No AC, and street noise can be a problem. Room rate is high, but actually reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. A good choice for an overnight stay at a convenient location.

"Geneva's Best Hotel"

Hotel Strasbourg, by Best Western has the best staff, very accommodating, helpful, very close to train station, no need for taxi or shuttle. Restaurants all around. Great Coffee and breakfast. If you travel here in summer, be sure to ask the front desk for a fan, could get a little warm in the room. Very close to shopping, Starbucks, many wonderful restaurants.

"Awesome showers, nicely thought out bedrooms"

Really well located, and in my view the best hotel in easy reach of the Cornavin station. The staff are businesslike but helpful and the atmosphere is professional and businesslike in my view. The rooms are on the small side but this is prime real estate and there i was plenty of room for everything I needed, although the desk was a bit small. The windows came with shutters and curtains which was nice if you wanted to sleep with the window open but still have a draft but not exhibit yourself to the neighbours! I had a really good night's sleep here with no noise coming from next door's rooms or those above. The bathroom or shower room as I had was very clean as was the rest of the hotel, but it is the showers that (almost literally) blew me away - instant hot water and no shortage of it and blistering power if you so chose to avail yourself of it. I did and after a incredibly long day at work it really blew away the cobwebs and allowed me to finish off my work. Opposite the hotel is the Bar des Brasseurs which as the name implies is a brewery bar, I recommend giving it a try as well if you are staying here. Breakfast was included and entirely as it should be, again with very nice yoghurts in a nice breakfast room, the juices and coffee was just fine as well. I shall be coming back for sure.

"Won't stay here again!"

I really regret staying here. The nightshift desk attendant was very rude, the so-called breakfast was a joke, very poor selection. Ham slices, no cheese, nothing hot. My room faced the sun, and it was very hot, there is no AC, so I was told to open the windows and when I did flies were everywhere. The bed was hard, the television only had only two english channels, no coffee in the room, the ice machine was broken. The only positive was the wifi, which worked well. I gave it two stars because of the wifi and location. Still, there are much, much better places in Geneva. I paid 266 CHF, for this? Never again.

"Reasonable hotel, small rooms, average breakfast"

This hotel is not bad. It is conveniently located. The breakfast is nothing special. I definitely would not pay for it as an add-on if it were not included in my room price. Hotel room is clean but very small. NO AC! If Geneva is as hot as it was last summer (2015), I would NOT stay at a hotel without AC.

"Great location"

A basic hotel with very friendly staff. Rooms small and beds not that comfortable but for the location worth it. Rooms were warm during our stay so we opened windows but evenings very noisy so perhaps request a room facing away from Les Brasseurs bar. Breakfast was typically continental and free WiFi was welcomed. Found a wonderful bottled beer shop just around the corner which made up for the high mini bar prices. Would stay here again but if you are looking for all the mod cons then look elsewhere.

"Brilliant location, great hotel"

Very easy to get to from the train station, literally a couple of minutes walk Helpful friendly staff, great straight forward room, with bath and shower Decent breakfast Luggage store for your final day Central location and loads of restaurants nearby. The pub over the road was noisy on Friday night as you'd expect, but the double glazing is uber efficient!

"Good location"

THE location is good as it is 2 minutes from the trainstation and other public transportoptions and it is 5 minutes walking to the lake. The room was good also but a bit small, even because it was a 1 person room. Minibar and fridge are at hand but coffee/tea stuff is at request as are the bathroomamenities. The tv has a lot of channels but most are french or german, only 3 out of some 40 channels are english spoken (news) channels. The street and restaurant accros the street can cause a bit of noisedisturbance so book a room at the backside. The free wifi worked excellent. The breakfastbuffet will get you started, few sorts of bread/pastries, granola and yoghurt. But they could do better with the selection for breadspreads and stuff. But as said it's sufficiënt to start the day. On checking you receive a free public transportcard for Geneva center and to the airport. You will get this at each Geneva hotel as a little gift from the city Personel is not overfriendly they just do there job. Each time you leave the hotel you must leave your roomkey at the frontdesk, which I think is not of this time anymore. Overall I am not to sure if I would stay here again when in town. There are lots of alternatives around the station and near the lake.

"Our 25th Wedding Anniversary"

Execellent staff. Nice and courteous. Very friendly atmosphere, really enjoyed it. The Hotel is located in the heart of the City. Everything is close by, Train station, Tram , Bus , Shopping etc. Superb. I love it.

"Great Location and Good Room"

The hotel is perfectly situated as it is right next to the metro shopping centre (also the metro and train station). It is literally 5 minutes walk to the lake and Tourist information centre which we found useful as we bought passes which allowed us to do many activities for a great price. The hotel provided free travel pass which allowed us to travel everywhere for free (trains, bus and metro) which was a bonus. However the room has no air con and it gets extremely stuffy and difficult to sleep because of the heat and when you open the window's you get a lot of noise from outside. Apart from this I can't fault the hotel, the location, breakfast, staff and most importantly reasonable price.

"Perfect for what we wanted "

We have just come back from a New Years break in Geneva. The New Years celebrations were very good down at the lake. We stayed at this hotel and couldn't fault it for the price we got. Nice looking inside, very clean rooms and very good location, especially if you need the train. Only thing I would really want improving was the breakfast selection but my Fiancé was happy with it. I would definitely use this hotel again if I returned again in the winter, I may reconsider in the summer as it was very hot in the room with no air con. Overall we left happy with our stay

I booked hotel as part of a Geneva Motor show package. It is close to many local amenities including stores, newsagents, restaurants/eateries. The Metro Central shopping centre/plaza is the nearest to the hotel and can be used to come and go to the main train station. The good points: Customer service was good, the staff spoke English(good job as my french is bad!) All the reception men were very pleasant - the first one gave me my travel pass (3 days) for which I showed my passport and signed a document. Also one of the staff helping me and others at the nearest bus stop. The continental breakfast has a good variety - yogurts, muesli, croissants, cereal, fruit etc. I was told by another guest you can have as much as you like. The size of my room was just right for a single person. The bathroom was also compact. The shower inside was a corner cubicle - enough room for a small to average sized person. The minus points were: The noise from the street and 24hr restaurant and bar/club disturbed my sleep at times. I also found that the was VERY Uncomfortable - like sleeping on Sponge Bob!. I plan to return to Geneva in the future. I shall NOT be staying here again - unless the annoying issues such as the sound proofing/ glazing, bed mattress and lights are fixed. There are many other hotels in the area close to the station from which to pick that would be more suitable overall. Also I would not recommend using the Metro Central once it gets dark as there are unsavory types around. Also make sure you go the right entrances and exits to and from the Metro central or you could get confused. Two helpful landmarks are a statute of a man(I did not see who)with a winter hat and two sphinxes on the shopping street nearby, I looked at the directions on the internet and this did help but I recommend street view on google maps. ( I rang the hotel to make sure I was going the right way.) Overall the package through Geneva tourism was reasonable it included: 3 days travel pass, hotel accommodation and Geneva motor show entry.

"Great location and great service"

Been there for three nights, the location is nearby the main train station-just 3-4 minutes walking with luggage. It's also close to the start of both tours i had-gare routiere. At the last day i asked to have an early breakfast which i find many hotels don't want to do-but here the staff was kind and friendly and let me have breakfast at 6:30am. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. I'm glad to choose this hotel.

"Great Location"

Great location, hotel supplies free transit pass, good for your whole stay. Walking distance to many attractions, and only a couple minutes away from the train station. Breakfast meets your needs, but not a lot of variety. Very good staff. Real downfall is how warm the rooms get. If you open the windows and specially if you are in the front as we were, the noise from the street at night is very loud. As in most hotels in this price range in Geneva, there is no air. We were visiting in April when the nights are cool. I think it would be very difficult in these rooms in the hot summer months. Wifi was great. Lots of restaurants in area. Also close to variety of grocery stores.

"Hotel very close to Cornavin Train station"

This hotel would be ideal for a short business trip to Geneva. This hotel is a minute's walk from the Cornavin train station. There are direct trains from the airport to Cornavin station (about 6 minutes). At the airport, you can get free tickets (from machines just before you exit the baggage collection area). At the hotel, they give you a free pass (which can be used on all buses and trains in Geneva). Cornavin has a number of trains and buses connecting it to different parts of the city. Coming to the hotel, it is a basic hotel which provides you all you need for a short business trip. The hotel provides for Continental breakfast. There are a number of restaurants nearby. (I found Bombay Restaurant just a block away). Free WiFi is provided by the hotel. Hotel staff are extremely helpful.

"Best western strasbourg"

The service and the staff can be a little be better, the hotel is in a corner with missing indication, I had to use the gps to find it . The TV channels was unavailable all the time, I had to ask about the problem and the staff didn´t solve the problem.

"Best location for trains"

Very good sized room with tub and shower. Queen bed. Free wifi and breakfast which was served early at 7 and well stocked but no hot food. Reasonable price. Helpful staff. Good location for city walking tour. Exactly what we needed for short stay in Geneva.

"Nice hotel in the centre of the city."

Small comfortable rooms, but no air con, rooms are too hot even with the heating turned off. Too noisy to open the window. No gluten free bread on the first day, but rectified for the rest of the stay. Nice breakfast and pleasant friendly staff. All in all an OK stay.

"A Good Deal in Central Geneva"

Summary: This hotel in central Geneva conveys a bit of charm. The facility is cozy and the rooms are more than adequate. The staff are OK and the morning breakfast buffet serves the purpose well. The room rates are reasonable for the location and the quality of the accommodations. Details: I was in Geneva for a weekend between business appointments in Switzerland. I had never been to this city before and was looking for a place in city center that was reasonable with respect to price. This hotel caught my eye as I am a Best Western Diamond member and tend to gravitate toward properties in this group. Not only were the room rates good, the location was ideal as it was within easy walking distance of the main train station. The facility, though close, was not that easy to find from the train station as there were a couple of turns on the GPS that were not easy to figure out. But I made it, nonetheless. The location was on a one-way street that was not a high traffic thoroughfare. The street front appearance was decent but not necessarily attractive. The interior was a different story, however, as the lobby was quite nice with a bit of a homey feel. I was checked in very efficiently by the front desk attendant. In general, I found the staff to be adequately helpful though I did not get a warm welcoming feeling from them. They were generally polite but it did not extend much beyond that. I was assigned a room on the second floor which suited me well. I found my room to be clean and decently spacious with average decor. The work area was adequate and the bathroom was in good shape and functional. The view from the room looked down on the street below. The bed was comfortable though the environs were not always quiet. Hence, sleep was sometimes interrupted thanks to street noise. A different room opposite from the street might have been a bit better in that respect. The morning breakfast was pretty good as the buffet offered several options. There were a couple of hot items as well as the typical cold meats, cheeses, cereals, breads and juices. The coffee was decent but not much more than that. The seating could get a little cramped at various times of the morning. In addition to being close to several attractions, there were also many restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. There was a terrific variety of choices for various sorts of fare. There were also several shops nearby for souvenirs, chocolates, etc. The room rates were not bad for a Swiss center city location and the quality of the accommodations. The average room rate for my three night stay was 120 CHF including tax. This was $119 USD per night with the conversion rate at the time. This was not a bad deal at all with everything considered. In general, this establishment is a good spot to use as a base to see Geneva as the location is ideal. The proximity to the train station and Geneva's primary attractions is a big plus. The facility is nice and not without charm. The rooms are beyond adequate, the staff are polite and the morning breakfast is good. The room rates are more than reasonable. If you need a place to stay in Geneva, this is worth considering.

"Friendly and convenient."

We arived after flights from home and made our way to the hotel, just a few minutes walk from Cornavin Railway Station. We were immediately checked in and went to our room. The room is small, but enough for our needs. There is a double bed, desk area with an assorment of plugs, closet for hanging clothes and a small cupboard with two shelves for storing other items. There re enough mirrors and the lighting, this must be the bightest room we have ever stayed in. Not the dingy low powered light fittins but more than enough bright lights. The bathroom is compact, with shower cubicle sporting a "rain" showerhead as well as a hand held shower. Everything one needs is ther. One comment, toilet paper is not the "roll" type but a dispenser with paper squares is in its place. Rather awkward! My wife requested a kettle and was given one to use. Breakfast is a good spread. Juices, cheese, cakes, cereals and eggs. A range ofjams and other spreads are also available. Location is perfect. near the railway station, close to Manor, the department store, easy walking distance of the "old" city. Windows are double glazed and there is a pull down shutter to make the room as sound proof as possle and also completely dark.We heard no noises from the hotel itself, not even from the elevator which is across from our room. All in all a good all round hotel

"Best hotel to travel around Geneva region"

Stayed for more than 2 weeks in this hotel for the business matters. Great place to live when you need to travel (train station is just 5 min walk), and even a greater spot to be while exploring Geneva. Hotel is located right in the centre of the city - close to the lake and the old town, and several bus stops with international organisations directions just around the corner. Amazing breakfast included, and lots of Mark Rothko copies on the walls ;)

"Conveniently located"

The location of the hotel is conveniently located to the train station and trams. Just off the river, it has many restaurants and food outlets surrounding it. It is also a 10 minutes walk away from Old Town where you can check out ancient parts of Geneva. Room is functional, clean and neat even though it is small. I have absolutely no problems with it. Price is high perhaps due to the location. Wifi is free and the hotel like many provides a free transport card for your travels within a certain zone and to the airport. Breakfast is not a huge spread but to me has all the necessary items to make it a good one. Some have complained about the noise level but as I live in the city, it is not a big problem even though you can sometimes hear door slams. But not major noises.

"Easy to find/Overpriced"

We have stayed in it for our weekend break in Geneva. It's very easy to find it, I would say it took us about 3 minutes walk from the train station. Reception was really well decorated, room was fine. I think it could be better as hotel has got 3 stars, but I couldn't see any big difference from some of the motels we had stayed before. It was no air con, so first night we had to open windows in a middle of the night to let some air in. Also, it was no duvet, just sheet and blanket in a wardrobe. However, we have really enjoyed simple continental breakfast.

"Average & overpriced"

I stayed one night at this hotel on a business trip. The location is good, near the central station. The hotel, however, is small and old and although the rooms were renovated, you can still hear everything that goes on in the neighboring rooms - from women walking up and down in their heels to alarm clocks ringing in the morning. Service is average, and the buffet breakfast in the morning VERY poor. It's a hotel with no character and I was thankful to only spending one night there.

"Tight fitting room"

It is near to the train station and easy for independant travellers like us planning to explore the Lavaux Vineyards. Given a table fan. Kettle available upon request at the reception. Breakfast adequate with eggs, cold meats, cereals and fruits. Pastries substandard_not as good as in France. Wifi slow. Short walk to the lake to see the fountain Jet d'Eau.

"First Trip to Switzerland "

The room was spotlessly clean with a well stocked and replenished mini bar and a big TV but a little small for 2 people. The cleaners were most friendly and helpful. The shower must have been designed to give a new meaning to the word small. Each movement in the shower gets you bruised or scalded either by the glass partitions or the hot water streaming in after hitting the hot water knob by mistake. You curse loudly and hit even harder.. Don't try to close your eyes as you shower even with soap in your face because you will hit something for sure. I learnt to freeze my frame and methodically move my hands. Bending to reach your legs is out of question because you will break the shower cubicle entirely. The only lift is equally small. We took one bag at a time to the room. Other than that they have the most friendly and helpful reception staff. Always greeting us with a smile and willing to help. Lovely people!

"Great location for exploring Geneva"

The location is perfect. Near the Central Station and many shops and restaurants. Decent rooms and helpful staff. The breakfast however offered little choices. Great place to stay while touring Geneva.

"Great spot deserves a better review"

I am laying in my bed writing this review before I forget to it really is better than a lot of the reviews say it's in a great location close to everything nice room nice bathroom clean very sufficient for the price I have a corner room and I don't overlook any prostitutes it probably would be hot in the summer time it is October now and the air conditioning is not an issue the staff were fine the hotel is secure absolutely perfect for what my wife and I needed and where we wanted to be great if you're traveling by train

"Everything is there"

Good bed, nice room, good breakfast and nice staff everything you need for a business stay in Geneva. It is a really good base either to visit the international institutions or the city center. A little noisy if you open the window...

"Nice to play to stay"

A lot of good things can be said about this hotel: it is very well located, it takes less than 5 minutes on foot to get to the railway station, and the city centre is not far either. There are a lot of grocery stores nearby, so you can buy some food and drinks easily... Staff was very friendly, I don't remember the guy's name who worked at the front desk, but he gave us a warm welcome and was always smiling whenever we came to talk to him and no matter how annoying we were with our many questions. If that can help identify him, we arrived on October 18th 2014, at around 4-5 pm. The rooms was also very comfortable. The only problem was the relatively noisy street, there's a bar-restaurant and people were there until late at night. And in the morning, there were some public works on the street and that also made some noise (but maybe those are already over by now and at any rate the hotel is not to blame). But that's only a minor detail and we'd definitely stay there again if we went to Geneva.

"Efficient, clean, friendly"

After reading other reviews of this hotel we were nervous but we were pleasantly surprised. No late night noise from the bars, not a hooker area. Walking distance from the train station. Lots of restaurants between the hotel and the lake on Rue Mont Blanc and the pedestrian street too. The tub/shower and bathroom in room 410 were modern and roomy. There was a fan already in our room. In summer the lack of A/C would be a problem but not now. The breakfast was more than adequate and fresh.

"Good value in good location"

Stayed here on business for three nights. It is a block from Cornivan Station, close to a range of dining options, shops, and trams. The rooms are simple and clean. Continental breakfast was included in the rate -- it was average, but coffee excellent. The staff were on the whole friendly and responsive. The rooms are fairly quiet but the street noise can be disturbing if your windows need to be open (i.e., in summer).

"Comfortable and well located"

Warm welcome with quality service staff. Wifi works perfectly and is included. Nice rooms. Perfectly located. Standard breakfast but nothing missing. Perfect place for business stays. Comfortable bed and functional bathroom. Close to rail and bus stations. And for beer amateurs, just front of a nice brewery.
