"This is not a plus anymore"
Excellentfromvictori, 20 Octobre 2024

We have stayed at many plus bw and this one has disappointed us. The website boasts a wine and cheese due every friday and saturday. No sign of this. It boasts a pool and hot tub. It was closed. The first plus we have been in with no microŵave. The ac unit had a defunct temperature control. We were freezing with ut on so turned it off. While in the shower the shampoo bottle was completely empty. Was not worth 200.00 u.s. in a town like garberville which had several homeless people wondering around.

"Solid mid range hotel with friendly staff"
67maryal, 19 Octobre 2024

This is a nice looking BW and great for those passing thru visiting the Redwoods. We had very friendly front desk help, the room was clean, spacious and seemed pretty freshly remodelled. Bedding was good. The shower was good (once we figured out the hot and cold are reversed😉). Breakfast offerings are pretty standard- it's convenient and will get you started. The pool, spa and ice machine weren't working but we didn't need them so it wasn't a problem. Garberville is a cute little town, if alittle economically depressed, so it's nice to see the BW is still there as a good option.

"I've stayed in worse, but... actually no; this is about as bad as it gets."
Eric T, 31 Juillet 2024

Miserable. I never, ever leave reviews but I'm making a special exception this time in order to warn potential travelers. Do NOT stay at this dump- even if they offer you a room for free, it still would not be worth it. Just- don't do it. You're welcome.

"A good overnight stay to visit the Redwoods"
susanwG8520CN, 19 Juillet 2024

Rooms are nicely appointed - two sinks a plus. Even with our small dog it was nice to be on the second floor and the elevator helped us cart our luggage. Be sure to get to the breakfast before 9am or they might run out of the hot food offerings. Attractive pool area even though we didn't use it.

"64th Birthday road trip."
Ken E, 17 Juillet 2024

I am a Best Western diamond member and have stayed at more Best Western properties than I can count. Have stayed at this property 5 times over the years. The room was fair to good for a best western. Homeless all over the property, even in the lobby bathroom. Homeless going through the garbage can and leaving trash all over outside of64 the cans. 2 ice machines on the property and both were broken. The spa was broken and filthy. Grounds poorly maintained. I won't even go into the staff, except to say I have never seen anything like it. I BEG YOU. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!! Nobody should have to go through what we went through.

"There was nothing Plus"
Aaron G, 27 Juin 2024

The shower pressure and beds were good. I also liked the look of the tile. Unfortunately many other details were not great. The bed had a stain. The room did not have a smoke detector. The ice machine, pancake maker, and yogurt machine did not work. The hot tub was also out. Best Western Plus is supposed to have full breakfast. There was nothing plus about this experience.

"NOT WORTH THE MONEY"
Bill S, 23 Juin 2024

Room was nice and comfortable. Looked like ice machine has been shut down for a long time, tub drain plugged up. Hot tub had green slime, Breakfast was out of milk and could not get more, Yogurt machine OUT OF ORDER. I would rate it as a HOTEL 6. We were on a rest stop and this hotel was on our route.

"Nice Motel But Dead Town"
Edward York Y, 15 Juin 2024

In general, this is a fairly nice Best Western. Lobby is decorated well with redwood accents, room (in the rear) was quiet, well-supplied, comfortable bed/pillows, nice shower and TV. Overall, happy with the accommodations. We returned to Garberville after a 10 year absence and were fairly shocked at how the somewhat previously vibrant town had completely DIED (Virtually all shops permanently closed). Not the Garberville we were expecting. Nothing against the motel but the death of the town and minimal food options makes it a bit more difficult to "recommend" to friends unless they are merely "passing through" en route to the redwoods. This property was far nicer than the Best Western in Reedsport, OR. Garberville used to be "walkable".........strolling, hitting the shops. But the demise of the cannabis industry (a major economic force in Garberville) and COVID have virtually killed the town. Free breakfast was a typical Best Western breakfast...........totally adequate but nothing "special".........automatic pancake maker, bagels, cereal, powdered eggs, powdered egg/cheese omelettes, so-so sausage, etc.. A nice place to stop upon entering the south end of the redwoods (Avenue of the Giants, etc.)........even has a nice pool........but don't expect ANY services in Garberville.

"Great location for exploring the Redwoods."
Mark R, 25 Mai 2024

This was the perfect location for biking on the Avenue of the Giants and hiking the magnificent Redwood Forests.

"Felt unsafe staying here"
Debra N, 23 Janvier 2024

Scariest stay ever at a hotel. The town is run down and full of homeless people. When we arrived to our room, several homeless people approached us and asked if they could help us. We said no, but one lady was very persistent. We asked for another room as we felt very unsafe, but all their rooms enter from the same parking lot where homeless people were parked or camped out. We stuck it out for the night, but stayed awake most of the night looking at our car. We thought about leaving but the next town was 2 hours away. Think twice before staying here.

"Not recommended. Grounds are totally open to all who choose to wander through. Not secure"
NDL121, 14 Novembre 2023

I checked into this hotel as I thought Best Western Plus were always good quality in my past experience but this hotel has a serious issue with the homeless using the stairwells as somewhere to spend the night. As well as drugged up travelers wandering through the grounds. I would not want to leave my car here overnight either. My room also had no hot water that was only warm at best. Not the place I would want to spend the night so even though I had already been on the road for 8 hours I decided not to stay and drove a few miles further on to a cute little town in the Redwoods called Miranda CA and found a great place to stay

"Bad breakfast, unsafe/spiders in room, disgusting green slimy pool, no spa."
mnebens, 17 Octobre 2023

Bad breakfast, hard sausage, slimy wet eggs. Plug didnt work in bathroom, they knew because it was marked with a green dot. The light switch in front sink area arched when turned on and off. 3 spiders in room, 1 dead, 2 live, disgusting green slimy pool, no spa. No amenities to enjoy after driving all day. Could not relax, then breakfast was horrible on top.

"Great stay"
habitual04, 09 Octobre 2023

I had a great time at this hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned. So comfortable. I will stay with my family again. The Representative was cheerful and answered all our questions. The location of the hotel very convenient it near to restaurants, stores and transportation.

"Do not stay here"
FootballMomDN, 25 Septembre 2023

Cars get broken into. Hotel rooms stink and are dirty with previous guests mess still in the room. The pool was disgustingly murky and the hot tub was out of order. I Would not stay here again. Could not sleep due to loud bar next door and could here the traffic.

"West Coast Motorcycle Trip"
Kolin B, 25 Septembre 2023

This hotel does not even have the quality of a Best Western much less the title of Best Western Plus Overpriced, sub service, and the pics on the internet are not what the hotel represents. Very disappointed from start to finish.

"Good location"
andyjaydrew, 11 Septembre 2023

On the edge of town with a food truck, bar, gift shop, gas station mini mart all within a short block. Clean room with parking right outside your hotel room door. A few more food options within a couple blocks.

"Quiet Is Nice!"
mgrubbs2023, 11 Août 2023

The quietness was Nice!! Did not hear other guests through shared walls or outside noise. Large rooms and large bathrooms. Coffee pot & fridge in room. Mostly construction workers there trying to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was pretty decent.

"Decent room, shabby property"
Richard G, 09 Août 2023

Garberville sits near the southern entrance of the Avenue of the Giants, so it was an ideal location to lodge prior to a day of exploring California's magnificent redwoods. I found the room at this property to be decent -- two sinks, which was nice, and a comfortable bed & sofa. The property and grounds, however, leave a bit to be desired. It's a fairly run-down building, in a neighborhood that is borderline sketchy. Had we not been there on a Saturday night, the rate would have been about half what we ended up paying -- which would have been well worth it. But paying double the weekday rate (if not more) was disappointing.

"Pleasant surprise"
winsomefed, 29 Juillet 2023

We needed a room that fit a family of 5 down the road from Redwoods on short notice in summer. Ended up here and I was a little nervous on inconsistent quality of BW. This hotel was great. Clean, roomy, nice staff and great breakfast.

"Extremely outdated musty smell and most of the amenities do not work"
tj95673, 20 Juillet 2023

The title says it all. The management failed to tell us that the pool and jacuzzi were out of order even though we had our reservations for almost 2 weeks and both have been out of service for months. The air conditioner was not kept on in the room on a day that was over 100° which caused the air conditioner to take over 4 hours to be able to cool the room down to a bearable temperature

"Skip this one and sleep in your car!"
thecoopertree, 11 Juillet 2023

We tried to book online and at the final process, the website crashed. We tried again and it said booking could not be made. Called for reservations. When we called the front desk person (Sinta?) told us she was the only one at the hotel and she was going to put us on hold for an hour. Yes, an hour. (We should have stopped there and not pursued this hotel.) So we booked through reservations. First room they gave us, we pulled the sheets down and there was a toenail and hairs at the bottom the the bed. Sheets were not changed in either bed and there was soap but no shampoo, conditioner, etc. There were ants crawling on the table. The office inspected a second room for us and it was clean. When we looked out the window though, we saw the pool and hot tub and brown grass. We were never told facilities were closed and not working but we were told that a pool view was extra! It was green, moldy and only the hot tub was roped off. There were homeless men roaming the halls of this hotel. This was not a safe place for a woman (or women) to stay alone! Bagels were hard and did not seem fresh. Pancake /waffle were not working and toaster wasn't also. No omelette maker/pan either. All that is supposed to be included in breakfast. Bacon was only fat and sitting in grease. When you picked it up it was dripping and opaque. Sandra, the server, was an amazing 11 out of 10 though, and really made the breakfast a welcome (though the food was not.) Someone needs to give her an increase of salary. This sweet lady ran to the back and got us extra waters (it was going to be 98 that day) and got us trays so we could take fruit and cereal. The company should value this employee for her bright disposition and her outstanding customer service! Also, this hotel is across the street from a night club. Bass and music can be heard until 2am. You will not sleep until at least 2:30, as the people from the club come out yelling and cussing…

"Wonderful people; facilities need work"
Judith M, 11 Juillet 2023

This is an old facility which needs some serious updating. It advertises a pool and spa, but neither look to have worked in quite a while. Breakfast was good and the people working there were helpful and friendly. If I had been paying $89/night I wouldn't have mind so much, but we paid premium prices for NOT premium facilities. I used the laundry facilities in town because the hotel laundry room was just….eww.

"Clean and convenient location."
Canzo316, 08 Juillet 2023

We made a reservation a few months in advance as we wanted to assure a place to say near Humboldt. When we got there there was only a couple cars in the lot, but I was told they get alot of backpackers. The rooms our outside access, and they have free hot breakfast. It is clean, fairly spacious, and a good breakfast (they also have a do it yourself waffle maker, which my kids love). It is literally located on the highway, so it couldn't be more convenient, and only about 15 minutes from the south entrance to the Avenue of the Giants.

"Very nice place to rest"
Shirley K, 01 Juillet 2023

This is a very clean Best Western Plus near the redwoods. The room was large and clean. The bed was soft and comfortable with plenty of linens and pillows. We appreciated the double sinks and large bathroom area. There was a good variety of food for breakfast.

"Excellent experience!"
seesamfly, 09 Novembre 2022

We had a wonderful experience at the Best Western Garberville! Jeannie the GM and Ren the front desk host were extremely friendly and accommodating. This is a perfect place to stay to enjoy the Redwoods. Highly recommended!

"Old place old mattress bad experience"
LFR55, 29 Octobre 2022

Too expensive... mattress with 'death valley'. Take your chances. Make reservations somewhere else or face the consequences. Being remote they charge what they want. The gal at breakfast was the most pleasant!

"Gateway to Redwoods"
donaldk16, 26 Septembre 2022

Expensive, dated even in remodeled rooms, noisy, uncomfortable. Area is lacking restaurants. They did have a little happy hour with red or white wine and cheese. Nice touch. The staff was pleasant. For close to $300 a night it was nothing you would expect from a hotel at that price point.

"Pleasantly surprised!"
Meander829156, 16 Septembre 2022

My husband and I stayed at this hotel while traveling to Oregon. The room was very clean! We had a comfortable bed, hot water and no noise concerns. My only small complaint was the room is a bit outdated. Nothing serious but would certainly put a new door on the room. The door shut but didnt feel or look secure. Breakfast was the usual hotel style breakfast. Area was very clean and server very accommodating. Hotel staff were pleasant and very professional. Would definitely stay here again.

"Great stop below Avenue of the Giants"
ericols1, 03 Septembre 2022

Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel. Very few options in the area so we were pleased that this was such a good find. Pool area had a number of tables with umbrellas for shade. Very inviting! Would definitely recommend. Not fancy but very clean.

"Do not stay in Garberville"
Y2865MRcynthiam, 01 Septembre 2022

Fortunately I read previous reviews about Garberville, so booked elsewhere. We went through Garberville and stopped to buy groceries there on our way to our hotel elsewhere, and I can say we were on edge while we were there. Men wander the streets dirty, no shirts…some vagrants…have you seen the movie “Deliverance?” The hotel might be nice, but I would not stay the night in that town. Other reviews have pointed to drug use in the parking lot, and loitering by people you wouldn't want to approach. I can verify that.

"Poor facilities but decent people"
jeffTarrytownNY, 11 Août 2022

I don't blame the staff. The hotel was noisy. Our toilet broke and was never iced. The hotel was old. The breakfast staff were super nice and helpful and kind. They deserve better. Shape up this location please

"Poopy experience…literally"
TheDundees, 07 Août 2022

I'm writing this review because I wish I had known these things before booking this hotel. This was a family trip with 2 children. When exiting into Garberville, my stomach dropped. Immediately this town did not feel safe. The evening check inn employee did not communicate well. We had to ask her to repeat herself several times. Parking was in the back of the hotel, which was SUPER sketchy. Homeless people mulling about and walking dead looking druggies were a dime a dozen. You would not want to be out behind this hotel alone. Getting to our room #116 was like walking through a prison cell block. There was no security to this lower level, which means the posse we met in the back parking lot had full access. Upon entering the room, it did not smell clean. The kitchen floor was sticky, the bottom of the fridge was broken off and laying on the floor and there was grit in the tub. There were 4 of us on the reservation, but only 2 towels and no bedding for the pull out sofa. So back to the lobby we go to ask for these items. The check in employee seemed annoyed at our requests, but complied. Before bed I took a shower.. a cold shower because the hot water didn't work and the tub barely drained as I stood ankle deep after 2 minutes with the water running. In the morning, I used the bathroom sink to brush my teeth and could hear gurgling. The tub started to fill with sewage and the toilet started to overflow. That was it for me. We awoke the kids and told them we were leaving. We had originally booked 2 nights. When I told the front desk that we were checking out early, she didn't seem surprised at all. She apologized and refunded my 2nd night. We loaded up the truck, which thankfully was still there, and promptly left Garberville never to return.

"Okay stay if there is no other option"
Saskia72, 22 Juillet 2022

I have to start with the positives about Best Western Plus Humboldt House Inn. The staff are really great. I had a very late check-in (after 2:00 am) and the gentleman who checked me in who very nice even though it was so late. The bed was also amazingly comfortable, probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, in a hotel. Unfortunately, the Humboldt House Inn is pretty ratched. As soon as I opened the door to the room, I was greeted with the overwhelming stench of pot. I get it, it's Humboldt County, but I was worried that I would get hit with a $100 fine. I called downstairs and reported it immediately. I really wanted a different room, but it was so late and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot, so I figured there probably weren't any other rooms. As I was unloading my car, there were a fair amount of transients around the parking lot, so I definitely would NOT leave anything of value in your car. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly (dirty toilet, random hairs in the shower). The carpet was stained, dirty fridge, dirty handprints on the door. I was then awakened at 10:00 am by a screaming argument next door complete with the N word yelled over and over again. Really was not great, as I was exhausted and really needed sleep. I spoke to the Front Desk staff the next morning and they were very professional and courteous. Although, I do feel that a discount off the room should've been offered for the room smelling so awful.

"Broken Western"
Guest65plus, 19 Juillet 2022

Pictures on the internet look much nicer than in person. The hot tub was out of service as was the waffle maker. The beds were not as nice as other Best Westerns including those that were not labeled "Plus" but they were adequate. Room was musty but we had a sliding class window that allowed us to air the room out once we fixed the screen that was off the tracks. The room rate was expensive for what we got but I would say that about 90% of the Best Westerns we stayed at.

"Friendly staff; very clean"
Chimki1, 14 Juillet 2022

We stayed 3 nights in a king room. The room itself was good sized and very clean and quiet! Complimentary hot breakfast each morning was a bonus! They had a great variety of options and there was plenty. Every employee we dealt with were very nice and helpful...we really enjoyed our stay!

"4th of July in Trinidad, Colorado"
Emilio T, 13 Juillet 2022

I thoroughly enjoy this hotel and consider myself a regular. The hotel has a huge lobby that is great for socializing and for those who prefer social distance. Free coffee and tea is available in the lobby 24 hours. Owners, Harry and Nimi are wonderful hosts.

"Excellent spacious room"
davidtgordon, 01 Juillet 2022

Excellent spacious room and plenty of choices for breakfast but quite expensive. Great spot for visiting the Redwood Forest and Avenue of the Giants, the Lost Coast and Shelter Cove are both within easy reach.

"Decent place but overprices"
cbeck, 30 Juin 2022

My wife and I stayed here one night when we were on vacation. The outside of the hotel was decent and so was the room. However, I thought the hotel was overpriced for what we got. For example, there was no microwave in the room. The breakfast was very good.

"Biggest hotel room we'd ever had I think"
JTRos, 21 Juin 2022

We were pleasantly surprised how big our room was, so atypical for hotels. We had a little deck overlooking the pool and it was very clean. The morning breakfast was good and there was plenty. I thought Renee at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. I guess I was surprised that one night was $308 and I wasn't aware of the hefty tourism taxes in California, yikes. But of course, not Best Westerns' fault. Thanks

"Nothing Plus about this Best Western"
SunnyCaliforniaDays, 18 Juin 2022

We've stayed at several $300+/night hotels and this one easily ranks dead last. This was also the worst Best Western I've stayed at, despite being the most expensive. Not sure how they achieved the “Plus” label - no doubt got it years ago when the premises were still in good condition and the clientele was respectable. "Worst Western Minus" would be a far more suitable name. Things that can be improved, most fixable toward the top: * Barely intelligible front desk lady * Broken faucet drain stopper * No microwave * Scalding hot water * Mystery carpet and seat cushion stains * Loud (drunk?) guests yelling at 3 AM * Cigarette smoke in elevator * Paper thin walls - heard every guest, door slam, motorcycle ignition, passing truck on the highway We booked this hotel because nearby Benbow Inn required a two night stay. This BW feels nearly as dated but without the historical charm. We stayed at a regular ol' non-Plus BW two nights later in Oregon, and it was leagues (seriously, leagues) better, for half the price. Avoid if you can!

"Hotel is nice, the town not so much"
Critter3, 03 Juin 2022

I stayed here in 2010 and remember thinking it was a great place to stay. Don't get me wrong, it is a decent motel and normally it would get a 4-5 stars from me, but there was just some things that made me give it a 3. The first, which isn't a reflection on the motel itself, is that the area/town is filled with what people that are obviously down on their luck. The town likely has been hard hit by the economy, but the people we saw (about 10 just around the gas station we filled up at which is about across the street from hotel) didn't make us feel safe to walk around and explore, and we were concerned about safety for our vehicle and if someone would try and steal from it/break a window. Not something we want on a road trip. The reason I took away a star for this review is that the back ally continues right through the motel. So if there was someone looking to steal, they would have easy access. Likely low probability of happening, but not something you should have to worry about while on holidays. The second is that the Wi-fi was also poor/slow. Now a days you would expect to have sufficient wi-fi. The 3rd is simply just the price. There are not many choices for the area which is likely why they are able to charge what they do, but for what you get (and the local environment noted above) the cost of a room is maybe not worth it. The rooms themselves were good. Standard motel rooms. The one we stayed in was spacious. Had a balcony on the 2nd floor kind of overlooking the pool and grounds (which are nice). We never got to use the pool, but I did notice the hot tub was empty. I wouldn't tell people not to stay here, but I may look at other options next time.

"Hotel was okay - town was sketchy"
emm26344, 11 Mai 2022

We stayed here due to its proximity to the Redwoods. For that, it served its purpose. After seeing the Redwoods, we headed back to the town and quickly realized there was nothing to do and not many options for food. We ended up hanging out by the pool and getting food at the foodstore which was fine. The hotel was okay (bathrooms were clean which is a MUST for me). The town was sketchy at best. After checking in, we were immediately confronted with a bum who was visibly agitated as he walked around yelling and talking to himself. He must hangout around the hotel a lot as we saw him many times during our two night stay. As we were walking towards our room we ran into couple that seemed to be on something. The town possibly has a drug/homeless issue. Which I realize is a shame and is not the hotels fault, but possibly the hotel could offer more security/cameras?

"Beautiful and comfortable."
jessalyncharter, 09 Mai 2022

This BW is by far the prettiest I've been to. The lobby was beautifully decorated and smelled amazing at check in. I got free cookies at arrival and departure. The room we had happened to be king bed accessible and it was great. There was so much room and the shower was adjustable with great water pressure. And if you've stayed at hotels you know how cool a good shower can be. Breakfast in the morning over looked the pool in a spacious white floor to ceiling windowed room. It was beautiful and bright and welcoming even in the rain we were experiencing. I absolutely would stay there again. Hopefully next time it won't be raining so we could actually use the pool and hot tub.

"Great hotel"
jjrmz1221, 29 Avril 2022

We only stay for a night as a short stop before heading to Oregon. The hotel rooms were fairly updated and very clean. Beds were comfy and the TVs were Netflix enabled. The breakfast was really good! Great for on-the-go. The hotel staff was really friendly. I'd definitely stay again.

"Underwhelming "
BrisbaneNewDad, 27 Avril 2022

Overpriced Motel 6 standard. Nothing plus about it. Noisy trade crews in white trucks pkaying guitar and making general noise Room 317 stunk terribly of smoking product. Tiny window. Check in done in the most unwelcoming manner. Should be a way to get a part refund.

"Hands down worst BW we've stayed in"
MarkfromtheIsland, 02 Avril 2022

This is so bad it's almost tragic. We checked in on April 1 at around 5pm. The woman who checked us in was somewhere between miserable and toxic. Unfriendly, unhelpful, uncaring. One of the worst front end people I've encountered. Our room was on the second floor of a building that seemed to be housing a road crew or something similar. The parking lot was full of matching trucks, the workers were all out in the parking lot drinking, flying drones, and making a ton of noise. This went on till 10:30pm or so. Then it dulled down to just a few talking loudly. A few hours later they all unlocked and relocked their trucks repeatedly with their alarms honking their car horns for what was at least 20 minutes. Accompany that with their engines warming up and revving. They finally left thankfully. The room was meh. My wife commented that there was no need for a facial scrub if you used their towels because they were so coarse. The included breakfast was empty when we got there and empty when we left 20 minutes later. No attempt was made to top anything up. This was at 8am and breakfast runs till 10. Not a place to stay. Go elsewhere

"Disappointed"
Hughes_Family22, 21 Mars 2022

After a long day in the car with the family we arrived and got a filthy shower, the advertised spa was not working, and unhelpful staff gave us poor information about local food options. For $200 a night seems a clean room is a realistic expectation

"Best place to see visiting the redwoods"
Gary F, 11 Mars 2022

Convenient location, great breakfast excellent accommodations. Very friendly staff. Excellent wifi. This is the only place I would stay while visiting this area. Very pleased with stay, would definitely recommend

"Home away from Home"
499erin, 24 Février 2022

We've stayed at Best Westerns for most of our travel needs, primarily because of the full hot breakfast. They have everything we need to feel comfortable and taken care of. The room was clean and I love the line they have for toiletries, not too heavily perfumed. Thank you Best Western

"Great Hotel We've Come To For Years."
beentheredonethat124, 10 Janvier 2022

The perfect location for a stop when traveling between Oregon and San Francisco area. Really the only hotel in the area, even though there are a few outdated mom & pop motels here and there. A lot more homeless now than in previous years. Sad. Mostly friendly though.

"Pet friendly is its biggest attribute "
TravelvetOR, 08 Janvier 2022

This is one of the few pet friendly motels in the area. The room was carpeted, with a very dank smell (likely from previous less continent dogs). None of the bedside electric outlets worked, everything was snaked behind the bed to a power strip, which didn't seem safe. There was a large pool of coffee under the bedside alarm clock. There was a hot breakfast (precooked omelets, bacon, and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches). Overall this didn't live up to what I'd expect from a Best Western.

"Great place"
J5974IMgeorge, 05 Janvier 2022

Nice place to stay, the hotel is clean, well appointed, and the staff was very nice. We had two rooms and traveled with the family pet. The pet fees were reasonable they supplied a sheet for him to lay on and a couple of treats. I would stay here again if in the area.

"Overpriced"
Karen239, 13 Décembre 2021

The good: very friendly front desk staff and pet friendly for an extra $20/nite! Our room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The breakfast was typical hotel continental items plus pancakes, bacon and eggs. It was good. I would stay here again at the right price. The bad: NOT worth $200/night, I would not stay here again at that price. In my experience that was a $90-$110/night room & location. There were sketchy people hanging around in the back parking lot and we were concerned about our vehicle. Thankfully it was fine and we saw security cameras on the building. We stayed on the first floor just across the driveway from the lobby and had to park out back.

"Avoid it if possible"
TessaInPdx, 10 Décembre 2021

This is absolutely NOT a 3 star hotel. Maybe 1 if pushing it. The room was dirty, we won't talk about the long, dark hallway made of cinder blocks you have to go through to get to your room, the internet was too slow to use, there were fights in the hall way, neighbors leaving their trash outside while. Almost feels like it was providing temp homeless services. Absolutely NOT worth $200 a night. I felt lucky to wake up with both kidneys and my car still intact.

"A Great Place To Stay"
Mary Lou F, 12 Novembre 2021

This is a motel-type property with the rooms opening to the outside. Some rooms had balconies overlooking the pool, which would have been nice. Our room did not have a balcony and overlooked the parking lot. However, the room was spacious and clean. The bathroom had a tub with shower, toilet, and sink vanity. A second long vanity and sink was at the end of the main room in a nook. At most places breakfast was often a 'brown bag' affair due to Covid. Not here. The breakfast was delicious. There were hot sausages, cheese omelettes, and wrapped sausage sandwiches. They also served waffles, fresh fruit, boxed cereal, yogurt, and assorted pastries. One of the breakfast seating areas overlooked the pool area. The property also had a guest laundry and a fitness center. Full suites were available for families. The staff was friendly and helpful and we would gladly stay here again. The next time I would get a balcony room. This is a beautiful area and Garberville is a small, friendly place that we loved.

"Very disappointed "
C4726FMkathyl, 01 Octobre 2021

When we checked in we were told that we would be getting a new mattress the next day. So the following day we moved everything out of the way so they had plenty of room to change out the mattresses. When we got back later in the day nothing had been done. we have been staying in Best Westerns all along the California coast. This is by far the worst experience we've had. We are Best Western members and they stuck us in a room in a corner right by the stairwell and the two rooms next to us were the staging area for the mattress people. Up until 6:30 pm there was a lot of noise from the workers along with loud music. Right next to this room there are homeless people going through the trash. There were also cockroaches in the bathroom. Only shampoo, no conditioner and no wash cloths, only hand towels and bath towels. So the next day we moved all our stuff AGAIN and still no new mattresses. And now they had all the old mattresses piled up in front of our room's parking space so we had to park a ways away. Again loud music and lots of noise above us until 6:30. I don't think the place was at capacity and I feel like we were given the worst room in the whole complex. We hope we can get some compensation for our unpleasant stay.

"Way overpriced compared to other Best Western properties."
J9963EEsteven, 29 Septembre 2021

We stayed there for one night and in our opinion, the place is overpriced. It is borderline average and have homeless wandering around the property and on the property. Specifically sitting around on the curbs and even wandered through the door to the breakfast area. Speaking of the breakfast: it is sub par. They removed the food early and RAN OUT OF EGGS AND BACON. I think that is cheap to not prepare enough. From the time a patron arrives, you can see they have problems with security. For example, there is a window and tray for you to put your payment through should they lock the lobby. Why would an expensive property like this not have security walking around at night. Good luck if you stay here.

"Great Hotel"
robertkarle, 25 Septembre 2021

This is the best facility to stay in Garberville. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Everything is up to date and very impressive. Plenty of parking and nice pool area to rest at. Very surprising to fit all this in a small area but feel very large. Well done.

"Stay out of Garberville if you can ... "
Sherpa08004134170, 21 Septembre 2021

Overpriced poop-hole. Stains on the floor, crappy service, not enough pillows or towels. Long wait to check out. Garberville is a poop hole, so this is probably the best you'll find. Researched the other options, and they seem quite a bit worse. Loud partiers at night, people loitering all over. If you're staying for the Redwoods, stay in Eureka and drive the 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

"Vomit outside the door"
davidpW2911TI, 18 Septembre 2021

This hotel states they hold the health and safety of guests paramount and yet there was vomit outside the door to the room that had not been cleaned up and the front desk advised they could not clean it up because maintenance had gone home for the day.

"Best affordable place in the area!"
mg27272021, 14 Septembre 2021

Rooms are big and clean, although a little "rustic" (dated). Carpet can be replaced. Pet friendly. Continental breakfast. Property could use a security person at night, as it gets a little too rowdy and noisy in the parking lot. All in all, it is the most decent and affordable place if you want to visit the Redwoods/ Avenue of the Giants, even Fort Bragg.

"Nice stay "
melwashere81, 13 Septembre 2021

If I had read some of these reviews before staying here I would not have stayed.....glad I didn't read them. I had no problem with this hotel. In fact I actually really liked the layout. We parked street level and took an elevator down to our room which was next to the pool. Never been in a hotel like that so we thought it was pretty cool. The spa was broken during our stay but the pool was nice and cold. Yes we saw homeless people around the hotel but we saw them at literally every hotel in the state of California that we stayed at. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. The room itself was clean and comfortable and we had no complaints. I would stay here again.

"Do not stay in this hotel! Do not stay in Garberville!"
Christine A, 07 Septembre 2021

If I could give this place a zero I would. Do not stay in this motel or any motel in this town! I agree with the previous review. This is nothing but a homeless and drug attic town. My husband and I spent two nights, only because we wanted to travel in and around the area and there was not a whole lot of options. I would stay in Benbow or Trinidad before I would ever stay in Garberville. The town has nothing to offer, including poor restaurant choices and they all close up at 8:30. Our neighbors below us in the motel were smoking weed all day and night and our room was constantly smelled with secondhand marijuana smoke. The dust ruffles on both of the queen size beds were completely ripped. I had to take them off and hand them to the staff at the front desk when we checked out and told her to throw them out. Don't stay in Garberville, don't stay in this motel. It is not Best Western quality

"Not many options, but pick another if possible"
gjmontigny, 31 Août 2021

The rim was clean and the shower pressure was good. The bedding was atrocious! Super soft and no damn box spring. It was just about on the floor. Best Western is the primary chain available while traveling up the coast and generally they have been adequate to good. This one in Garberville is not....especially for the price they charge!

"Not usual BW standards"
Carole E, 29 Août 2021

For the price, this BW is disappointing. Outside corridors are dirty. No view. No microwaves in rooms! How do we reheat coffee? Unacceptable! The carpet had stains. I've never seen that in a BW. No towels in my room and was promised they would arrive wi the hour. 3 hrs later I had to go searching…was given one towel. Never got any face towels. The breakfast was good and well managed.

"What a disappointment!"
David P, 22 Août 2021

First of all, the pictures don't give you an accurate feel of this hotel. It is old and needs work. We checked in and our bed had two large cavities in the mattress from over use. When we parked in the hotel parking lot, were approached by a women begging for money. Later, I watched a man look into my car to see what I might have left inside as he checked to see if my car was locked. Check the area safety ratings for Garberville; It's not good. As we settled in, all of a sudden our room filled up with pot smoke coming through the air conditioner. We decided to leave and the desk clerk said I would get a refund. The hotel declined my refund.

"Okay"
Retailer, 09 Août 2021

Room large and clean, great shower, furnishings need serious updating. I thought I had walked into a time warp. Breakfast was better than average. Desk staff not friendly at all. Outside walk ways. Room front parking.

"Meth addicts constantly raided the ice machine"
Fearless788204, 04 Août 2021

I wish I had looked at reviews here before going! We were accosted by a meth addict one street over from the main street in Garberville. Fortunately our elderly family member diffused the situation before we ended up in the newspaper. The hotel was OK, but we couldn't go anywhere around this hotel without bumping in to an addict, vagrant, or crazy person every few minutes. In Garberville they kept raiding the ice machine at the Best Western to fill their coolers over and over.

"Meth addict in the staircase - hotel seemed unsafe and understaffed"
Marilyn B, 02 Août 2021

I booked 2 rooms here for a 2 night family vacation with my husband, sister and niece. I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Avenue of the Giants and it's one of the few with air conditioning and a pool. The hotel felt unsafe. There was a meth addict in the back staircase of the main building, going from the pool level to the 3rd floor. The staircase was strewn with junk and there was a half dead person slouched over several of the stairs. We had to walk around her to get to our room. There was no housekeeping service due to COVID, which was not a problem, except there were not enough towels, pillows or toilet paper. the coffee in the room was nice, except it was only decaf. The carpet was really dirty. A few good things, the bed was comfortable and the AC worked really well. The room was nice and cool despite 108 degree temperatures outside. The breakfast was pretty good, except it was very crowded, no masks and they ran out of food by 7:30 AM on a Saturday. The hotel staff person seemed really overwhelmed and each time I was in the lobby I had to wait on line to talk to her. I do not recommend this hotel. There are better options in other towns near the redwoods.

"Don't come near it"
W2487VKayas, 25 Juillet 2021

Unfriendly staff. Badly equipped (3 towels for 5 people and they had no available towels at the time we requested 2more, at 10:45pm they called that they have 2 additional towels available and we should pick it up from the front desk). You can smell smoke and hear all noises from the other room. I actually put wet towels in the door gap between us and the other room trying to prevent the smell from coming in. Stay away.

"Worst Best Western Ever (not) stayed in"
S2326VEAJ, 13 Juillet 2021

I've never had to leave a hotel before, but this was so bad we couldn't stay there. We tried to check in at 4.30 (check in time is 4) to be told it would be another ' hour or so' as the room wasn't ready. We had been driving all day and were tired. But we went and got some food and moved on. We checked in at 6 and the room cleaners were next door, no masks in the rooms. The room cleaning was clearly rushed and was it was still pretty dirty. The room was designed for 6 and we had 4 towels (1 hand towel and 3 bath). I asked the room staff next door if I could have more towels, they said they didn't have any then found one which honestly looked used. The tipping point came when we peeled back the comforter to find no top sheets on any of the beds. Meaning you would have to sleep next to the comforter that doesn't get washed. I went to reception and asked for more sheets. We waited an hour and no one came. We decided to leave and stay at a hotel that provides sheets, and on checkout were told that the room staff had been to our room and verified we had sheets. We were in the room the whole time and no one came by. The overall standard at the hotel was very low. Not sure what makes it a Best Western Plus, but there was no plus about it.

"Clean hotel, sketchy town..."
850tristaa, 11 Juillet 2021

Our stay in Garberville was short as it was just a place to sleep before hitting "Avenue of the Giants" just north of town. The hotel was fine - a standard Best Western, the room was clean, check-in was quick and smooth (I am a BW Gold rewards member so that may have helped) and there was a light breakfast and coffee to go served in the morning. We had not planned to use this amenity however the town of Garberville has obviously hit hard times - very little was open including the only coffee house in town. We did not feel safe to even walk the 2 blocks to Nacho Mama (the only spot we could find for dinner). The town could really use a rebranding and improved services (a fast food restaurant would go a long way!). All in all the hotel was fine but just be prepared...

"Worst Western? Minus not Plus"
S3866CCjeffg, 10 Juillet 2021

Absolutely awful experience. Took an hour to check in. There was one person working who spoke limited English and could not answer anyone's questions. She was also “walking” several customers claiming no rooms were available. She has trouble understanding basic questions and answers with total nonsequiturs (eg, does a room have one or two beds? Oh, you would like to register a pet!). The room itself was fine - clean and spacious. But our car alarm went off at 1:45 am as vandals were going through the parking lot trying to break into cars. Luckily we had no damage. In addition the pool was mysteriously closed and roped off with police caution tape. Beware of the high, drunk, homeless vagrants who live in Garbageville and are welcomed to loiter on the property. No manager or owner was available when we raised issues. Do a day trip to the redwoods rather than staying here

"Supreme Plus Stay"
mvhuynh, 06 Juin 2021

Very grateful for Best Western Plus Garberville's warm and gracious hospitality. If you plan to visit the Redwoods Parks, this is the place to stay (pool, hot breakfast items every morning, located near to the Sheriff's office and a community hospital, and helpful staff).

"Rating"
ellenbQ5718BI, 30 Mai 2021

Room was clean and comfortable and quiet, but ordinary. Didn't seem like a "plus" room. No USB ports. Property was well maintained. Staff was friendly, but there was very little interaction. No offers to replenish coffee, shampoo, towels, etc. I would expect everything to improve after the Covid restrictions are removed. Will stay there again, probably as soon as next year.

"Clean and comfortable "
dix7616, 26 Mai 2021

She thankful for the last minute room availability. We had booked at a different hotel down the road and it was not a place we could stay. So we were so thankful to find this hotel that was clean! Love the little balcony off of our room. It was nice to walk to a restaurant down the street. Bed was comfortable too. I would stay here again!

"Good spot reasonable prices."
rlisrael2021, 23 Mai 2021

Met all expectations. As Expected from Best Western. Have not stayed there previously, but would do so again. Great Location and freeways access. Clean, and dependable service. Enjoyed stay, very quiet.

"Easy access to Humboldt Redwoods State Park"
gunturboy, 16 Mai 2021

One of the largest rooms that I have ever stayed in a Best Western property. Beautiful mural of the Avenue of the Giants.. It was very very close to the park. Only downside was not many restaurants were open beyond 5.00 PM probably due to COVID times

"large clean room with good amenities"
Kimchigirl49, 26 Avril 2021

Last minute stop after a long drive. Found this spot and Xiuh thi (sp?) from front desk, gave us a large clean two queen bed room with pool view. Dog friendly with a super cute welcome bag for her inc treats and water. Also breakfast had good food options, inc great coffee!

"Cheapest TV line-up"
thomasdJ4405UN, 05 Avril 2021

Don't expect much in the way of movies here. They show 80+ channels, of which only 40 or so are really available. Check your room carefully for previous occupant items. I found someone's hiking boot!!

"Easy to find, quiet."
ben22101, 02 Mars 2021

We really enjoyed the hospitality. The room was clean and quiet. Pet friendly, we travel with our little dogs and this property has a quaint pet area. We liked that the parking is off the street and is well manicured.

"Nice hotel"
the1welder, 26 Janvier 2021

Right off the freeway. Room was beautiful. Loved the second sink with the toilet/shower. Wifi was great. Lots of noise being right next to the parking lot. Traveled with my dog. Was not told when checked in the areas she could and could not go. There is one small spot of AstroTurf for dogs. No places to go for walks. Beautiful grass area near pool that was only accessible when the pool was open.

"Thanksgiving week"
chlene36, 31 Décembre 2020

Spacious room with 2 comfortable queens and 2 sinks, balcony with table and chairs, and a good size refrigerator. We wished we had a microwave but really enjoyed our stay here. The front desk people were helpful and accommodating. Our room was midlevel and quiet. If it weren't for COVID, we would have enjoyed the hot tub. I would return here especially for the Avenue of the Giants proximity. This is beautiful country here!

"Drug and prostitiutes"
visualaerialimages, 08 Décembre 2020

This place is very unsafe and dirty. your vehicle most likely will be broken in to. drug deals going on until 3:00 am people fitting in the parking lot. hair in the bed sheets, very old smelling no microwave. had to sleep in my truck to keep the crack heads from breaking into it

"Redwoods visit"
Curious35840502576, 27 Octobre 2020

The hotel options in Garberville are limited. This was the best option though, for a "Plus" hotel I kinda expected more but was satisfied overall. I would recommend you stay here if visiting the redwoods. The doors are outside as opposed to expected inside corridors. You will hear your neighbors. The actual rate was different than the online rate and the rate change for the weekend, which is higher, wasn't communicated so I was a little surprised. Dining options in Garberville in particular are limited. But as I said, if visiting the redwoods, stay here. I probably will when I return.

"Nothing Special"
dfotinich, 14 Septembre 2020

I just completed an extensive road trip and this was the worst experience along the trip. Given that it was also one of the most expensive ($220/night with tax), I feel obligated to write a review. The front desk was not especially friendly, saying maybe 3 words to me the entire check-in time and not really answering questions. Some strange characters on the property as well - I saw at least two clear transients use the ice machine and head back into the streets. I've spent many years in San Francisco and don't get put off by anything like this, though I can imagine it's not particularly pleasant for a family. That's especially so if you get stuck on the 1st floor - it feels like walking around a prison block. Additionally, there was no microwave in the room. In fairness, the hotel never told me that the rooms had microwaves. However, after having since stayed in 8 comparable motels (including 3 BWs) over two weeks with EACH ONE of them having microwaves, I think its fair to say that I wasn't wrong to assume that a microwave should be a basic feature like a TV or fridge. This became a problem because the town of Garberville has perhaps two restaurants, none of which are open past ~8pm. No fast foods, nothing besides gas station food marts. I had planned for this and picked up food on the way in Ukiah. Given the absence of food options within 20+ miles of the place, I would think that the hotel would plan for this, since eating a cold dinner just isn't fun. Aside from that, the room itself was cleaned fine, shower/fridge/TV all worked as expected. If you are just looking for a place to stay for a night on a trip (where you are coming in late and leaving early), this place will suffice. Just plan accordingly - would probably make sense to eat dinner on the road. As others have mentioned, aside from the proximity to the Redwoods, Garberville is not a particularly pleasant place, with very few people on the streets aside from transients.

"Find Somewhere Else"
smzornes, 07 Septembre 2020

The room was dirty and ants in the morning. The comforters had stains and a black hair in it. It was definitely not up to COVID cleaning standards. There was also a little window in the bathroom, which was weird. Also, if you get in after 6, you are out of luck food wise.

"Surprisingly Awful Location"
A1204CDrichards, 25 Août 2020

I don't usually write negative reviews, but I feel obligated to write -- rather than remain silent -- in this instance. All the listings for this hotel need to come with a warning label: Garberville is the pits. True, it is located near the entrance to the Avenue of the Giants, with some of the most beautiful redwoods around. But don't expect Garberville to be charming. it has a decidedly down-market, even post-apocalyptic feel (think Mad Max without dialogue or plot). The only people we saw strolling its streets (all three block or so of them) were rough-looking transients. Some were only partially clothed, others seemed to be babbling and/or on drugs. None of this is apparent from the hotel's website or its designation as a "Best Western PLUS." We did not feel comfortable or safe staying at this hotel (or the handful of other motels in Garberville), and had to drive on to find another hotel in another city that seemed suitable for a family. Best Western first told us we could not cancel the reservation, and later agreed to refund half of the hefty nightly price. I wish I had known just what I was getting myself into the in the first place -- starting with some honest disclosures from Best Western. i am not the only person to have noticed this problem or commented on it in TripAdvisor, but somehow the candid one- and two-star reviews get drowned out by hundreds of positive reviews. I have some concern about whether all of those positive reviews are genuine.

"Great Experience!"
Jeffery G, 11 Août 2020

My wife and I had a great time, the pool was nice and the room with balcony was perfect. Chyenne at the front desk was so helpful and pleasant. The room was very clean. We will stay again when in the area.

"Hotel is nice, but town is scary."
atlvisitor, 10 Août 2020

Hotel is nice & average, but Garberville is a scary town. Lots of homeless drugged out people wandering the streets in this small town. We wanted to walk to dinner, but drove instead and had to eat outside because of COVID. The swearing from two ladies across the street disturbed our entire meal. We also saw a few drug transactions take place. We quickly got things to go and went back and locked ourselves in the room. Very sad, this is a cute town with lots of places to walk to, but we were afraid. I would not recommend for families!

"“Minus” not “Plus”"
davidjZ3579WJ, 02 Août 2020

I'm honestly confused by the “Best Western Plus” label; this was easily the lowest quality hotel we stayed at on our recent motorcycle trip. It was easily outclassed by a pair of Holiday Inn Express and a regular Best Western. We reserved a King; when we arrived and went to our room it had a pair of twins. I went back to speak with the check in guy and only then was told there had been a plumbing problem with our room. He then arranged for us to stay in a king ADA room with no other options given. Not great service to not mention and discuss with us upon initial check-in. The new room was also not especially clean, no surprise given the last minute change but again: the hotel could have prepared that room, rather than the twin. The comforter was stained, there was a LOT of hair in the shower (not just the drain, but plastered to the wall), and only 2 sad pillows on the bed. This is a glorified motel, nothing more. I advise you plan your trip so you don't have to stay here.

"nice room in bad times"
peymaoo, 08 Juillet 2020

We stayed at this inn one night in the middle of Covid-19 pandemic. The check-in time is moved to 4pm to accommodate for deep cleaning. However, even after asking for an early check-in and getting there just after 3pm, they said the room would not be ready until 5pm! Once the room was ready, it was clean, comfortable and we felt safe. I contacted the inn after our stay and complained about our check-in mishap. They refunded my night's stay 100%. So I will rate their customer service at 5 stars! They realized they had dropped the ball with us and rose to the occasion. The room and accommodations are more like 3+ stars.

"Interesting Layout!"
cyndiflane, 25 Juin 2020

The room was comfortable, and fairly clean. The building is interesting, with different levels. It was surprisingly quiet. My husband would have enjoyed a larger deeper tub! Overall we probably would stay there again if we were in the area.

"Redwoods"
rickash4d, 01 Mai 2020

Beatiful location to stay. Even though it was a bad time to go during this COVID19 but there was still places to eat and places to go tour. Staff was great, weather was great and freindy comunity. There was alot of homeless but the kept to them selves.

"Do NOT stay in room 116"
mkc8712, 28 Février 2020

Although for the orice and location options the hotel is alright, do NOT stay in room 116 if you desire skerp and quiet. This partucular room is under the breakfast area which the perp begins abput 330 each morning. The noise does not stop till well after 9am. Then again from 4ish to 730 at night for their reception.

"Helpful Staff"
dvworkers, 04 Février 2020

The reason I stayed at this hotel was because they don't charge extra for a Handicap/Accessable room as many other hotels do. I was extremely pleased with Ben who checked me in. He was helpful and his calming cheerfulness was great after a long and stressful drive. Room was clean and everything worked as it should.

"Love how quickly we were in our room."

"travel to southern vacation"
Robert M, 19 Janvier 2020

We arrived after dinner on a dark and rainy night. The motel was full. I can't remember if we were greeted as gold members or not. The welcome was pretty standard, not exceptionally warm, but not cool either. there were no ground level rooms left. The room was pretty standard for a motel room, but clean and everything was in working order. Breakfast was also standard, nothing special, but adequate. Check-out was quick but not overly friendly. The clerk was dealing with another guest whom she asked to hold off, while she checked me out.

"Garberville"
bowmans1512, 17 Janvier 2020

Garberville Best Western, easy check in, very nice room. Hotel staff are very nice and helpful. Free Breakfast was good, the hotel has a wine and cheese mixer each evening. It's fun to go sit and meet other guests.

"Have to return to your room by night"
jaclynwintertravel, 31 Décembre 2019

As soon as the sun goes down to the area is no longer family friendly. There is A LOT of homeless activity. There was someone every night staying on the bench where the dog exercise area is, then others around the building, and some walking through yelling threatening statements to non existing people. Very different dynamic during the day. Might look to have night time security.

"Warm and cosy!"
L8096WRsamuelc, 18 Décembre 2019

Used to stay with Best Western all the time back in the days, now with all these new chains, this is our first for years, located at the edge of town, nice clean quiet and a very warm reception and breakfast area to wake up to, very enjoyable.

"Quiet hotel near the Avenue of the Giants"
HoefieJoleen, 16 Décembre 2019

From the outside it looks like a typical roadside motel, down to the paint. But the rooms are spacious and clean, with soft towels, a very comfortable bed and fragrant toiletries in the bathroom. The staff are very friendly and caring. If you can get a room with a view over their swimming pool, you have hit the jackpot: it provides a tranquil setting and will make you feel as if you are in an even more special place. Breakfast is more than enough, with a variety of cereals and pastries as well as yogurt, waffle, egg, bacon, sausage and links; I am sure they have the best biscuits and gravy around!

"Just okay. Watch out for bums."
Alex_Templeton, 16 Décembre 2019

Took 2nd floor double queen room overlooking pool. Nice enough, except that hellishly bright all-night pool lighting necessitated use of blackout blinds. Drive-up parking with walk-in main room door. Breakfast: Usual rubber omelets, warmed-over bacon, U-make waffles, and cold cereals. Meh. Separate lobby and secure-entry breakfast room seemed odd, until the presence of bums wandering the town became apparent, not least the bum pawing through the rubbish bin by the outside vending machines. A family member complained of a “weird vibe” in Garberville. Given that, the bums, and the dope-processing plant soon to open there, we are not likely to visit again.

"Convenient and quiet"
Ann P, 05 Décembre 2019

Nice property. Near, but not too near freeway. We were fine here, but it looks like a really nice place to come in warm weather- with a nice pool area, and balconies that look out on it. Some rooms have outdoor entrances, so fresh air is available from two directions, which is nice. Ren, the clerk at check in was a high point. Quality of breakfast could be improved.

"Best Stay on Redwood Highway"
Michael M, 02 Décembre 2019

Right in the middle of Redwood country with two State Parks and an SRA close by, this hotel provides an outstanding service to folks visiting the prime region. The ADA compliant room had one of the best accessible bathroom I've seen. The support bars in the shower were well designed. Anytime I need accomodations near Garberville, I will stay here.

"Two Thumbs up!"

Great place to stay! Clean, Quiet, Great staff, Well maintained property. We will be back. Special shout out to the bigger guy working the front desk when we checked in. You were very helpful , with a great smile, get your shine on!!!

socor4321, 15 Novembre 2019

Our stay at this particular time was not booked ahead of time and we were grateful to have found such a nice, clean and roomy place to stay at the last minute. Highly reccomend this hotel to anyone. Made a quick get a way on the weekend.

"Oasis in a little town"
lorriskinner, 05 Novembre 2019

Best Western Plus Humboldt House Inn was worth stopping for a stay on the long run through the Avenue of the Giants down the 101. The service was excellent, hot spa and pool, happy hour with free wine and cheese in the evening , very clean and well appointed rooms as well as @. Excellent hot breakfast as part of the deal. The town might be average but Best Western was excellent.

"Power Outage"
grossmon, 11 Octobre 2019

Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told the power was out and may not be on for 24 hours. We were offered a flashlight and two glow sticks. We were told that the power was on in the dining area and could watch TV in there.

"Best night Sleep in months"
Douglas S, 11 Octobre 2019

Smiling helpful staff. Spacious rooms for a BW. Most comfortable mattress I have slept on in a month of Sundays! Breakfast was decent with good coffee to get me back on the road! Renewed my faith in Best Westerns after several recent horrible stays in other states!

"Nice Hotel with a Great Breakfast"
568wandaf, 05 Octobre 2019

The hotel was clean and comfortable and centrally located in the town of Garberville. We had a beautiful room with a patio overlooking the pool. The hot tub was nice. Breakfast was great and so were the staff!

"Fantastic and close to redwood"
Lars H, 29 Septembre 2019

Humboldt redwood park is amazing. Have never seen so many redwood trees before. This hotel is just at the southern border of the Avenue of the giants. Clean nice spacious rooms. Great restaurant with nice breakfast. Pool and jacuzzi. Surprisingly positive was the wine and cheese complimentary evenings with the wonderful lady Renate. She made us stay longer than planned!!!

"Our experience"
gramigail, 29 Septembre 2019

After a long day riding, we stopped for the night. Very excited to find a Best Western Plus. After no time at all we were in a most lovely warm spacious room. The experience was better than expected. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Hats off to this fine Hotel. Thanks for the great stay, we will be back.

"room not ready"
Vttravelor1, 26 Septembre 2019

check in was 4 pm, arrived and had to wait over 2 hours to get in. Totally unacceptable. Really disappointed to find two front desk staff, one maid supervisor who only recorded clean rooms, and apparently one person cleaning rooms, really think some of the staff should have pitched in to try to get rooms ready! when we got in, all night long some drunk was fighting with his girlfriend on the balcony, couldnt sleep, wont be back. Really poor mangement, shame on you Best Western

"Great Hotel and Staff"
Relax794031, 25 Septembre 2019

I was in Garberville for business late August. Great and friendly staff. Nice variety for breakfast and really enjoyed the Wine and Cheese reception in the evening. Rooms are large with refrigerators and high speed WiFi. I can park close to my vehicle.

"Unsafe Feeling"
Jet30047052318, 24 Septembre 2019

I arrived at 8pm on a Saturday evening, homeless and transient were very apparent. This facility did not indicate on their website that the motel has 'exterior' entrance to the rooms. Parking lot is questionable as there is a pass through from the street behind this facility. For anyone travelling solo, I would not feel safe here. I was lucky enough I had my husband with me. The free breakfast had a good variety. The shower pressure was great-I was quite surprised with this :)

"Worst check in experience ever"
Gregg S, 23 Septembre 2019

I'm very sad to have to leave a horrible review but they've left me no choice. Arrived friday 9/20/19 at 4:05 (check in is 4) after a long hard day of traveling and looking forward to a cool dip in the pool and a hot shower, was told room wasn't ready, but they would check and it may be ready soon. went up to the floor to check, one cleaning person was working on the floor, her supervisor was also there (but not cleaning) was told at 4:30 it would be next, at 5:30 still not ready, asked for the manager but she was not there. At 6pm I was offered another room, on a noisier floor, I declined, finally after waiting around for over two and a half hours and leaving to go out to dinner I was told the room was finally ready, but we had reservations for 6:45 so we left for a great dinner at The Lost Frenchman. We returned at 8:30, finally in our room and the TV connection didn't work, after checking and tightening visible connections I called the front desk. Cindy came right up, checked same connections, then we both managed to pull out the desk from the wall, tightened the last connection behind desk and this problem was fixed. Thank Cindy. Start to finish worst hotel check in experience I've ever had, but thanks Cindy for at least fixing the TV. To the manager Jeannie I'd like to say I think you've got serious issues and my friends and I won't ever be back. Best Western, I really think you should should do something about this so that it doesn't happen to others.

"Visiting the Avenue of the Giants"
KDieker, 22 Septembre 2019

Hotel was clean and nice, the evening drinks and appetizers was a nice surprise. Be advised, the town is full of homeless so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who enjoys walking the streets exploring dinner options. Again on the AM walk homeless everywhere. Steer clear and force the city to fix it by not spending money in Garberville!

"A great night on our Redwoods trip."
Culture615952, 14 Septembre 2019

Every person we had contact with was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Our room was larger than most and the windows had been opened so we were greeted with wonderful fresh mountain air. The dressing area was spacious and separated from the sleeping area-also spacious. They provided a make-up mirror! Very good beds. Very good breakfast. Unexpected treat of a wine and cheese tasting in the afternoon. So much nicer than our hotels earlier nights, that we sought out a Best Western for the next 2 nights.

"Best western Garberville"
eliumdrums, 11 Septembre 2019

The most of the staff are very friendly but look out for the cleaning supervisor by the name of Nancy , she will charge a two hundred dollar cleaning fee for any little thing after you have checked out , she hates her job and seems depressed in life . Other staff like all the front desk crew and even the cleaning crew are very friendly and helpful

"Clean, of course, but WOW!"
valeriecL4219NG, 05 Septembre 2019

This is the best Best Western we have ever stayed in and we have been in BWs all over North America. The room is huge, there is one vanity in the bathroom and another just outside the bathroom, there is a wine and cheese reception in the evening, better than average breakfast and they are exceptionally dog friendly. They gave us a large sheet to cover furniture, a new water bowl and a few dog treats at check in. They have a nice grassy area for dog potty breaks.

"For the Dogs"
bodega40, 01 Septembre 2019

Great place to bring your dog. Not so great for humans. It seems that most of this place are dog friendly rooms. The room I had was very noisy. It is a covenant location and is a nice looking property but like I said, it is for dog lovers.

"Personable Staff"
djkronjr, 27 Août 2019

Very nice hotel, conveniently located to restaurants. Nice stop off point. Pool was very refreshing and clean as was the hotels appearance. Location is very hot, so an efficient air conditioner very important. The air worked fantastically.

"Getaway in the Redwoods"
KDSMKG108, 26 Août 2019

We were able to check in early, which was excellent, since my sister and I had each driven several hours to get there, we arrived early, and it was hot...and not much to do in Garberville. In addition to a clean and spacious room, with trees right off our lanai, this is the only BW we know of that has complimentary wine and cheese in the evenings. Delightful. We didn't find much in the way of decent food in the area, but that's not the fault of the hotel. And good location for walking in the redwoods nearby. All in all, a wonderful weekend getaway.

"Small town friendliness"
goldenlining, 24 Août 2019

The room was attractive and very clean and the entire staff went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. I had a wonderful dinner with friends at the surprisingly upscale bar and cafe -Cecils's so that I didn't enjoy the complimentary local wine and cheese gathering, But I did enjoy the complimentary breakfast offerings that encluded Denver omelette, bacon, susuage, bisquicks and gravy and waffles fresh fruit, juices etc. Every single person I interacted with was friendly and helpful and I can't say enough for the people hired there.as well as my interactions with the Manager Jennie Jacobs.

"Decent stop-over"
Slthrn, 21 Août 2019

Solid motel. Room was spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful and I was able to choose a room to my liking. Note that the property is directly on the main road, which can be noisy with traffic. For quiet, know to request a room in the back building. Also note that Garberville has no attraction whatsoever and hardly any place to eat that will be open in the evening. The location was convenient to the Humboldt Redwood state park, otherwise there is no reason to stay in or visit this "town".

"Nice place to stay to visit Humboldt State Park"
Morguenna, 11 Août 2019

We stayed for one night. Clean room, comfortable beds. Our kids loved the patio access to the pool. Lovely wine and cheese from 17:30-19:30 and a hot breakfast in the morning before our drive north through the avenue of giants. Staff very attentive and helpful with tips on what to see and where to stay next on our road trip. Two thumbs up!

"Bikers on Tour"
ronlores, 10 Août 2019

We had planned to stay in Ferndale but being late in the day we decided to stay in Garberfield. The Best Western was a good choice. Generous size rooms. Clean, comfortable bed and very quiet. Guests were offered cheese and wine at 1730 for an hour. Breakfast was included, so all in all a very pleasant stay.

"Amazing stay to make your vacation complete"
MariaMcnulty1969, 04 Août 2019

This Best Western was one of the best parts of our vacation. Free breakfast, free wine and cheese, excellent service from office and kitchen staff. Unbeatable for my 5 year old son and 80 year old mother.

"Room 116 is terribly noisy"
asupervillan, 29 Juillet 2019

We got the "suite" it is under the breakfast room and aroun 2 a.m. they start cooking. Sounds like a marching band and a bowling alley avoid 116 or bring ear plugs. The staff is fully ware of how noisy it is.

"Decent!"
HarrisonPerry2000, 29 Juillet 2019

The room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly. What more could I ask for. There was a problem checking in with my debit card, because I had stayed the previous two nights at BW hotels and they had planned holds on funds that had not cleared yet (the holds), in addition to withdrawing the funds to pay for the rooms, so it appeared I had less money in my account than I did. Which also made it impossible to purchase dinner or put gas in my car to continue our trip. BW should not penalize customers for using their debit cards. I don't own any credit cards, so I don't have any other options but to use my debit card. BW should only place a 1 day hold on the amount of the room. Not a 3 day hold, and not twice the amount of the room!

"Awesome Hotel"
crcaraway, 27 Juillet 2019

My son and I recently traveled out West for a 12 day road trip. We stayed in 7 different hotels during our trip. This hotel was by far the BEST one we stayed in. The rooms were extremely spacious and the staff was very helpful. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

"They are working hard to make this a place you want to stay"
Craig A, 22 Juillet 2019

This was the wildcard stay on our trip from Portland to San Diego. It's not a great place, but it's good. Check-in was easy. Has a nice pool with some rooms having access from their rooms to the pool deck like we did. Parking was plentiful. Complimentary wine and eats in early evening. Staff was all very friendly. The dinning room for breakfast is way way to small! They were low on food or couldn't keep up with the onslaught. That's the only problem we had with this place.

"Great hotel"
cobi1177, 19 Juillet 2019

We stayed two separate nights, one with a group of 11 on our way to Monterey and one just the three of us on our way back. First stay was fabulous, from the staff to the room(326) to the amenities- wine and cheese reception, large breakfast assortment, pool and hot tub. Second stay was a little disappointing- we missed the wine and cheese reception and our room wasn't quite as nice.

"Wonderful"
Ranae C, 14 Juillet 2019

Such a wonderful stay. The beds were super comfortable and being able to have our dog was perfect. Such a great spread for breakfast Great sleep and didn't really hear much from the parking lot Thanks

"Not great "
katelands, 07 Juillet 2019

I arrived with a carsick child at 3:55 pm and was told our room wouldn't be ready for at least half an hour, despite check-in being at 4 pm. I sat with my son as he complained about needing to lie down, and eventually asked them to check the room. I was told our room wasn't ready but another one had been cleaned much earlier and we could have that one. I'm not sure why we didn't have that option before. Numerous other guests were waiting around for their rooms to be ready, very annoyed. The room was fine. The boys had been excited to use the pool but it was very cold, and small for the amount of space the hotel gives it. In the morning breakfast was a mad house. There was nowhere to sit, many people standing around hoping for a table, and the food was running low with only one harried woman to replenish it. The room for breakfast is far too small to accommodate the large number of guests at the property. We had to leave and get breakfast at a restaurant which we really didn't have time for. This and the difficult check-in forces me to give the hotel two stars.

"The little things"
ktflow3, 04 Juillet 2019

Front desk helped with a smooth check in and getting us situated in the area. There were no restaurants open for 45 mintues being a holiday, not ideal. Luckily a grocery store. INterestingly enough they had a wine and cheese tasting from 5-7 so that was a twist. Rooms were a good size though and clean. Wanted a roll away but didn't want to pay $15 for it. Most hotels it's free, so that could be a nice amenity. Overall though it was a good experience

"Family Fun 19"
SusanRuggles, 03 Juillet 2019

We enjoyed our stay here. The front desk clerks were both very helpful and recommended a variety of restaurants in the area. The lobby was classy and clean. The area our room was located was safe and the rooms were updated and very clean. The pool area was large and nicely kept.

"Area is a bit scary but hotel is great"
Carrie C, 30 Juin 2019

We weren't that comfortable in this area, lots of sketchy people, but the hotel and hotel employees were great! Great wine and cheese, and breakfast. Police station is close so that was reassuring haha.

"Pretty nice for a small town!"
Deborah P, 26 Juin 2019

For a small town (where my mom grew up), Best Western did well in renovating. The breakfast was mostly good, but had no fresh fruit (just slightly mushy canned peaches) and eggs were watery. My kids were disappointed that the "heated" pool was a bit on the chilly side, but it wasn't so cold so as to make it unswimmable. If you get a second floor room, you might be able to park right in front, which was excellent for someone physically disabled. There's an elevator too! And I didn't even have to go to front desk to check out!

"Clean and comfortable"
Quest46060087059, 23 Juin 2019

The hotel was clean and very roomy. The facility is nicely up kept. The hotel breakfast was well stocked with plenty of sitting. Laundry room is not available until 9:00AM which is a tad annoying when you are an early riser. A few ma and pa type places to eat in town that are just average. River is gorgeous and worth playing in for a few hours. Short drive to redwood areas.

"Very nice clean hotel"
P2934QVdavidg, 21 Juin 2019

stayed in Mid June. Cute hotel in the mountains right off the U.S. 101 just 25 miles from the coast. Great place to use as a base to go north, south, east and west. Great breakfast to send you off each day and evening wine, cheese and meat reception to greet you in the late afternoon. Staff very helpful and friendly.

"Comfortable"
Scott S, 21 Juin 2019

Comfortable Place to stay beds are comfortable showers are good Swimming pool area is very nice and clean Staff Is great I would stay here again The breakfast could use a little work some of the stuff was cold been sitting for a while but otherwise it was a great place to stay little steep on the price to stay there but when you don't have any other hotels locally Unique quality chain I guess you have to see the price

"Nice place and the BEST people!"
Yvonne K, 10 Juin 2019

We have stayed at this Best Western several times. It's a nice place to stay when spending time in the big redwoods. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The breakfast is a fairly typical "Best Western breakfast" but nicely displayed with good quality product. They have an evening wine and cheese offering which is very nice. Very nice cheese - drinkable but not great wine (but I am very fussy when it comes to wine). Just the whole experience is very nice. The people in this hotel are the best!!!! From front desk to room service they go out of their way for you. Can't say enough good things about the whole staff.

"Work Related Stay"
Susan H, 29 Mai 2019

The rooms were clean and large with comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good; hot scrambled eggs, omelets or hard boiled eggs, bacon and sausage, pastries, fruit and bread, oatmeal. I have no complaints about this stay.

"Very comfortable and pleasant experience"
marlydon, 24 Mai 2019

We stayed at this hotel after a long day driving and it was lovely,From check in to the great breakfast, all hit the spot. Would love to come back in the sunny weather to the pool and hot tub we could see from the sunny breakfast room

"Excellent stay"
Inez M, 16 Mai 2019

The one night spent here was a pleasant surprise. Room very spacious and comfy, the bathroom even had a window! Breakfast was the best I had during this trip compared to other similar hotels where we stayed. Good quality jams, tea and omelette was available for breakfast. We were lucky enough to have a wine tasting experience organised by the Inn. Very nice and welcoming staff. Excellent rating overall.

"Best stay I've EVER had, the personnel was a treat"
Sharie G, 15 Mai 2019

CLEAN rooms, great people, fun wine and cheese (also had sodas) party. Good TV and reception. Big tub with plenty of HOT water. Everyone I talked to was GREAT, friendly, helpful, cheerful...so different from every place I've stayed, and the room was so nice and clean and well set up, except plugs for my chargers, but that's normal. I will go out of my way to stay here again. And for me THAT'S SAYING A LOT.

"Excellent place to stay!"
D M, 14 Mai 2019

We stayed here for three nights to attend Avenue of the Giants Marathon. Nan was an employee at the desk and her customer service was above and beyond our expectations! She was friendly and informative. Always had a smile. The hotel offers a reception of wine and cheese free of charge in the evenings and a great breakfast in the morning. The rooms was amazing! We were so comfortable. We had a kitchenette so we could prepare our own meals and the beds/pillows made for a great night sleep. They had a pool and hot tub. I used this on one of the days. There were too many children not being watched and that shouldn't have been using the hot tub. They were throwing wrappers on the ground and it made for a dirty pool. Despite the children in the pool area I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Garberville! Beautiful rooms!

"Very nice King room"
ZoePepper, 12 Mai 2019

Our room was very large, clean and comfortable. My husband enjoyed the pool and hotub. Breakfast was a bit better than the typical Best Western. The only problem we encountered was the lack of parking. We had to park far from our room. This was the best room of our road trip but not the most expensive.

"Really, it's a very nice place to stop for the night"
JRHLansing_MI, 08 Mai 2019

On the road back from the Redwoods, we decided to cut some time off the drive, and got a reservation at theBest Western. Like many, the “transient population issue” was on our minds, especially after seeing Eureka and Arcata!, but we went ahead with a stop in Garberville. Pros: Extremely clean hotel! Everything was clean, right down to the corners in the bathroom. Comfortable beds, not too hard, not too soft. Comfortable pillows too, although they use those 1/2 size ones that are becoming prevalent in the hotel industry. Very good shower, and the shower head was high, so it was very nice for my Husband. Towels and soaps/shampoo were of nice quality too. Very pleasant, helpful staff!, there's a cocktail/reception hour from 6-7:30. They have wine, sodas, cheese, salami, crackers, snack mix, it's a pleasant gathering and the guy who staffed it was great to talk to, both he and the man at the front desk gave us the options for dinner,..albeit limited options!. Beautiful pool/hot tub area, and again, very clean. They're big on security, you need your room key to use the elevator (which is outside!), you also need your room key to access the area where they hold the evening reception and morning breakfast. The parking lot is tight, but very well lit and also has cameras. Cons: They use some type of air freshener, but since the rooms open up to your own private balcony, we opened the door and aired it out. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars..I really dislike air fresheners, and while this is an older property, it's the only ‘con' I can give it. Our room was on the 3rd floor..which is deceiving, because from the back of the building, where you park and access your room, it's only 2 stories..the 1st story is on a lower level in back, but opens up to the pool in front. From the front view there are 3 levels. Our room looked over the pool, and as mentioned, the room has a private balcony with chairs, and maybe a small table. It's a pretty view, but it also faces the road which is beyond the pool area, so you hear the road noise. This was an issue at first, but as the evening went on it was quiet, and if there was noise, it didn't disturb us. When we went out for dinner, we noticed several of the transients, but there's also a visible Police presence, so there were no issues that we could see. All in all, this was a very nice property, safe, clean, comfortable and we'd stay here again.

"Comfy stay"
Jodi P, 12 Avril 2019

Very friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was amazing. Checked in late due to traveling and felt like the workers made sure everything was going to work well for our family. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend this place to ours traveling through the Redwoods.

"A Great Hotel"
D8821PSfredb, 10 Avril 2019

Everything clicked with us here. Our double-Queen room was large, clean and tastefully decorated. There was very little road notes. The Wine & Cheese Happy Hour was good and we met some interesting people.

"great place but watch out for theft in the parking lot!"
bluepotter, 03 Avril 2019

This place needs a security guard in the evening. My car was broken into this time, and when I talked to the policeman he said, "Garberville is a tough place at night". Believe this. I was so terribly disappointed. Other wise this place is pretty good, but if you can't trust the parking lot....

" Nice Stay"
jrleeper, 31 Mars 2019

Stayed for one night while visiting the Redwoods. Check-in was easy and staff was nice. Room was spacious and clean but didn't care for the strong air freshener smell. Hot breakfast was included which was a plus.

"Best Western Humboldt House Inn"
douglassw2015, 05 Mars 2019

We had a very relaxing stay at Humboldt House Inn on Sunday night of this week. The decor was very nicely and we were able to get back on the Redwood Highway easily after our stay. Hopefully we will have another nice stay there.

"Comfortable good sized rooms, food options limited"
JimmyD_69_69, 03 Mars 2019

The room was great, it was warm, comfortable and spacious, with an excellent bathroom. Tea and coffee and fridge in the room was helpful, but no safe deposit box in the room. Breakfast was average at best, but the wine and cheese evenings were nice.

"Fishing Trip"
Rich N, 01 Février 2019

Excellent Breakfast and great Breakfast staff. Hotel needed some work in the cleanliness department.Follow up on TV issues not done, and the room was unfortunately pretty noisy by the neighbors. This Best Western is usually very nice but, was surprised on this trip on how some of the areas have slipped. No recognition for being a Diamond Member both on arriving or leaving?

"You will not be disappointed!"
KeepOnTraveling2, 19 Janvier 2019

I drove all day in the rain and arrived around 6:00. My room was down the elevator by the pool. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a small patio. I walked out the back door to relax in the hot tub, which was out by the pool and nice and hot! I did not swim, but the pool was heated and sparkling clean (cleanest hotel pool I've ever seen). I was sure I missed the cheese and wine, but the very nice lady who was serving stayed late to accommodate a couple, and she was willing to stay even later for me. I had not stopped to eat all day trying to make it to the hotel by dark, so I was very happy to have some food. She brought me a plate with salami and cheese including Brie, olives, and a glass of red wine. What a treat. Very clan and comfortable hotel with friendly and caring staff, especially the cheese and wine server. I really enjoyed my stay and will return again.

"NEVER AGAIN!"
Wtzhpnn, 08 Janvier 2019

Our stay started off good until our daughter showered and the tub had a leak and flooded the bathroom. The front staff were very accommodating and moved our room and gave us 10% off. Then all hell broke loose when we went to go to bed in our new room and found that the beds were made...but, the sheets were not changed from the previous person. I took pictures of what was in the beds...but, they do not do it justice. There was dirt, sweat marks and not sure what else we saw (I'm not kidding)...at that point we were so disgusted, we decided we were done and moved hotels. The front desk staff were understanding and refunded our money.

"Wine and Cheese reception, Good coffee"
RestlessWanderer211, 05 Janvier 2019

We stopped here on the way to the Oregon Coast. Garberville is a tiny town on the 101 and by the time we arrived, 6pm on a weekday, it was pretty much all shut down. We had not made advanced reservations and asked for a room near the hot tub. It took a while to find our first floor, subterranean room, but the front desk guy was really helpful. Daughter didn't use the hot tub too long, it was freezing outside. The highlights for me were the wine and cheese reception, our hostess was a kind lady from Austria, and the locally made Humbodlt coffee in the morning. Got 15% off using our AAA card, great price!

"Did not hold the room they “sold”us"
EBnHB, 28 Décembre 2018

We reserved a room while traveling through the area. They sold us a “lovely king size bed room with balcony overlooking pool with Mountain View” . Because we booked same day, they checked to make sure it was available, yes. Then they explained there was no cancellation because it was same day. Understandable and ok. They took our credit card and got their money for this ”lovely room”. We told them our approximate arrival time. Then we called back later and updated the arrival time as we had very bad traffic issues on the road. They said fine, they were open 24 hours and would be expecting us. Then, when we did arrive, about 9 p.m., suddenly the room we had already paid for was not available. Their excuse was that we came so late it had been given away. They gave us a dirty, stinky, noisy room directly across from office, street side, in view and earshot of a loud bar. They used a typical bait and switch on us. I feel that if I pay for a room, with no refund or cancellation, that room is guaranteed to me. They got our money, then sold the better room again to someone else and shoved us in the room they couldn't sell. I would not stay here again. Ever.

"Nice comfortable stay with a surprise evening reception"
srividyashankar123, 23 Décembre 2018

We were a family of 4 and stayed here by chance enroute on US 101. After a hard days drive through North CA, we realized that we were late to go to Arcata, CA and missing Avenue of Giants. We booked this at the last minute and is conveniently located off 101. We booked room with 2 queen beds and the rooms were clean and comfortable. What was unique was an evening reception with Wine, Cheese and crackers. After a hard days ride, this was very relaxing. Great breakfast in the morning and awesome service by all the staffs.

"Garberville Best Western"
Tourist45810972274, 23 Décembre 2018

Unplanned overnight stay, was happy with the attentive staff and clean rooms, Pretty much standard fare for a Best Western, clean rooms, fair pricing and helpful staff. Highly Recommend if staying in Garberville......

"Decent Hotel Close to Avenue of the Giants"
CrankingChick, 12 Décembre 2018

We stayed at this hotel for one night after visiting Avenue of the Giants. We made a reservation months in advance and staff was expecting us; check-in was fast and easy. We requested a wheelchair-accessible ADA room, and while it wasn't huge, there was enough space to roll around and all of the amenities were within reach. It was attractively decorated and clean. The room had a TV, refrigerator, alarm clock with large numbers, coffeemaker, hair dryer, iron, and complimentary toiletries. There was no microwave in this room. There were 2 queen beds and it was a nice touch that one was lowered to ease transfer from a wheelchair. We were especially impressed with the large roll-in shower that had a handheld sprayer and a sturdy shower bench with a back and arm. This hotel obviously values the safety of its guests! There were wash basins both inside and outside of the lavatory, which speeds preparations when there are two or more people in the room. The rooms open onto a sidewalk along the parking area, so we could hear vehicles coming and going, and unfortunately there were night owls in the room next to us who kept going outside to smoke all night and talking in a loud, animated manner right beside our door and window. The HVAC unit was loud but that may have been an advantage since it covered some of the other noise. Breakfast buffet is included and offered a wide variety of choices. We ate instant oatmeal, cereal, yogurt and fruit. A wine and cheese reception is also offered in the evenings. The hotel has wifi, a heated outdoor pool and spa, a fitness room (may be upstairs), laundry room, and a computer that guests can use. The accommodations were nicer than we were expecting and we would probably stay there again. That being said, we went down the street for groceries and gas and that was not a pleasant experience. We felt uncomfortable with the groups of rowdy, unkempt people loitering about and were relieved there was a visible law-enforcement presence.

"Nice accommodation"
italytraveler400, 11 Décembre 2018

Rooms were pleasant, clean, nice size, furnished tastefully. Wine and cheese in evening was nice surprise breakfast was more than adequate with many choices. Office staff were friendly and helpful . If ever in Garberville I would stay there.

"Great stay"
kerrie g, 09 Décembre 2018

Good clean comfortable room, with a balcony, breakfast included was in a lovely patio area. Very nice gardens , pool looked great but we didn't use it. Laundry onsite was handy. A few unsavoury characters hanging around the carpark and vending machine smoking dope, personally I found this a bit intimidating and while doing our laundry had my son or husband accompany me back and forth

"This is the BEST Best Western ever."
rabadoo, 28 Novembre 2018

Jennifer, the manager is one of us. She KNOWS what it takes to make guests happy..... And.... Good news... She makes it happen. If Best Western's management in Stratos has any sense, they will clone the girl.

"nausea from overpowering cleaning product smell"
ElizabethTudor, 26 Novembre 2018

There are some positive aspects of the hotel such as the pool, the breakfast, the wine and cheese. However, these do not cancel out the overpowering carpet cleaner smell. If you open the window, the smell of marijuana enters. There have been previous complaints on TripAdvisor about the chemical smell at this hotel, but the management seemed very surprised.

"Excellent hotel"
Navigate167184, 19 Novembre 2018

We just love the cheese and wine served in the evenings. A great opportunity to talk to other travelers and make friends. Marilyn Merlot the server is very considerate and friendly. The front desk staff offer wonderful service. The rooms are spotless.

"Great Hotel"

"Overnite in Garberville"
dfmerges, 03 Octobre 2018

In town on business; stayed one night. I was here in August and it was a nice place so I came back. Room was clean and quiet, bed was comfy, shower was hot, the free breakfast was good. It's not a luxury spot, but it is a nice place to stay. At $ 149 a night I though it was kinda pricey, but I'm from Texas where the cost of living is lower, Would stay here again.

"Comfortable bed close to the Redwoods."
SDAnnie, 01 Octobre 2018

After 3 of us in line, waiting several minutes for the one clerk to check in someone else, a second clerk came out. We are BW Platinum and the woman at the desk would not let me check in without my husband coming in as his (First) name was on the reservation. We have always traveled together and have the same last name. Our room had wet carpet in a large section of it. They advertised a pool, but it was empty. There appeared to be a lot of homeless people in the area, some even walked through the parking area. The breakfast area was extremely clean and organized. The motel is probably the best in the area....I was surprised it was a BW Plus.

"Great place and value"
dhcoble, 14 Septembre 2018

From check-in to check-out everyone was very helpful. Hotel is centrally located to the downtown area where you will find bars restaurants and shopping within an easy walking distance. The wine and cheese was an extra bonus, and very good. Area was quiet and very safe - lots of families staying at the hotel.

"Overnight stay"
14carolina89, 11 Septembre 2018

Pleasant and friendly check in. Having asked for a k/s bed we were given a disabled room so plenty of space. Plenty of towels, bed comfotable and pillows. Breakfast next morning had a good selection to suit all tastes

"A nice place to stay among the redwoods"
adp-retired, 10 Septembre 2018

This a a very nice hotel. The rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. They have a nice happy hour with wine and cheese/crackers/meat. The breakfast buffet was good with waffles and fruit, eggs, bacon. There is a nice hot tub outside that was very good after a long day of driving. Recommend this place as a starting point of the redwoods.

"Vacation "
mrssunshine5, 09 Septembre 2018

This is the best best western we have stayed so far. It is clean; friendly staff; complimentary cheese and wine; breakfast was great; room clean; staff gave us rags to wipe down our bikes We will be back.

"Business"
37tarao, 02 Septembre 2018

We have been to Garberville quit a bit the last few months on business finding a descent hotel can be challenging at times. This hotel is very clean and the people are pleasant. They serve wine and cheese in the afternoon which is a bonus. I recommend this place.

"Headed to San Diego"
uswiggies, 23 Août 2018

Did not feel safe! No restaurant in hotel. Had to walk down street with numerous homeless/intoxicated people. Hotel has open stairs and hallways that are accessible to homeless/intoxicated people. Parking was limited for our vehicle w/trailer.

"Only stayed one night, but pleasant"
kate m, 22 Août 2018

We checked in to a very nice clean and comfortable room. The bed was so very comfortable. The staff very nice and the hot breakfast to be quite good. The biscuits and gravy were my favorite. We would stay here again.

"Overnight stay"
ljmcnally75, 21 Août 2018

Impressed with hotel although we didn't have time there. Would like to visit again when it is a pleasure trip. Management didn't want to originally book our cat but staff let us in, after we assured them there would be no problems and we had none.

"Only stay if you must"
Emilee H, 14 Août 2018

We wanted to stay south of the Redwoods and read decent reviews about this hotel. After a long day of traveling, we got in a little before 10 pm. The check in was painless and right off the interstate but the town was questionable and didn't have late night food options, except for gas station food. You will find multiple bars and even more riff raff in this tiny town. When we got to our room, our door was left open, the AC was on a comfortable temperate but the room smelled of stale smoke. Throughout the night we heard car and room doors slamming, yelling, people talking and walking down the stairs, and homeless individuals roaming around the property. We are two adult women staying at the hotel and didn't feel safe. The beds were decent but didn't get a good night sleep because of the outside environment. The breakfast was great and provided a variety of options. After booking through a third party that said we would have mountain and a balcony view, we didn't receive it. To be honest, I didn't realize it until the next morning. I spoke with the hotel manager and asked about this, and she apologized as the third party don't pass along that information but it can be requested upon check in. For our inconvenience, she did provide us a gift. In a nutshell, it's a convenience place to stay but only if you have ear plugs and baseball bat.

"Dog Friendly In The Best Way"
Nina Z, 13 Août 2018

It's so hard to find dog friendly hotels, especially in California. When we checked in they gave us a little dog bowl, sheet, and bone for our little one. They went above and beyond. So grateful! While we missed the wine and cheese and continental breakfast, we liked both offerings. We hope to make it on the next visit.

"We come every year!"
nicolemS1013DB, 07 Août 2018

We stay at the Humboldt House Inn once every year and it is a beautiful trip up in the California Redwoods. They take such good care of us guests with free breakfast and wine and cheese in the evening. Pool is refreshing and the spa is relaxing. Great trip, worth the drive from the city!

"Great location"
kellyhR5792TG, 06 Août 2018

Not our first time at the hotel. We travel by motorcycle and they are very friendly to us. The wine and snacks in the afternoon are a good addition to the experience. Rooms are clean and the property is well kept.

"Okay stop-over hotel"
Marcel H, 30 Juillet 2018

Location is great at the foot of the Avenue of the Giants. Hotel has a nice pool. Reception and staff very kind. They offer wine & cheese to guests in late afternoon. Breakfast choice was standard - the breakfast room was to small for this many guests. Hotelrooms are standard. Beds are good. Nearby (2-3 minutes walk) are some restaurants.

"Great Oasis"
jmarshall2018, 30 Juillet 2018

This is a great place to stay at the foot of the Avenue of the Giants. Clean, comfortable, breakfast, wine & cheese, refreshing pool, staff helpful and smiling. Very nice but is a bit pricey for the area.

"Good hotel on roadtrip south"
LxRichter, 26 Juillet 2018

A good hotel on a family roadtrip down the Pacific Coast. Hotel was nice, even though we missed the wine sampling which got good reviews. Compared to other Best Westerns, the pool and hot tub outside was nice. Only real concern are the dinner options in town ... be prepared. The approach to sustainability for breakfast with single use paper disks and cups and plastic cutlery is though rather disturbing for a European traveler.

"Great for Garberville - Okay for Everywhere Else"
Altair_IV_Krell, 23 Juillet 2018

This place has a lot of "pros" - the rooms are big and they have a 3-bed suite available which was perfect for us. They do have a wine/cheese reception like other hotels, but we did not partake of that so I couldn't say. They have a "hot" breakfast, but it's just the basic fare, still free and welcome but pretty basic. The rooms were very clean and well maintained as you would expect anywhere. One of the buildings backs up to a neighborhood which is fairly loud at night - at least when we stayed. Nothing anyone could really do about it, but it is there and provides a significant amount of noise and even with the A/C going you can still hear dogs, cars, people and so on. There is plenty of parking available (for cars) but I would think twice before parking on the street behind the hotel. If you're towing a trailer you should consider where to park beforehand. They only have a few pull-through spaces. Staff was pleasant, but you could tell they were overworked. It's tough to toss a lot of rooms and cater to weary travelers on what seems (to me) to be a limited staff. They did their best and they should be commended for it. A few more people on staff for the busy days/times would help enormously. This is the best hotel in Garberville - but what about Benbow? I've stayed at both and can say the costs on a comparable room vs. room is more expensive at Benbow. It's not double the price, but you should check out the costs per bed. If you want to spend more money and have a quiet romantic-type of time then the Benbow is for you. If you have a family and/or friends and need a cost-effective, nice place to stay then Humboldt House is the go-to winner. There are a few restaurants in Garberville that you can walk to. If you stay at Benbow you only have their restaurant. Our stay was fine and we would definitely come back.

"Only if you must..."
Trevor W, 22 Juillet 2018

We picked this hotel as an option to break up the drive from Portland to SF so we could see the Avenue of the Giants. Reviews were good. Rating was #2. How low is the bar to give this place anything more than 2 stars? From the rude check in(she either couldn't speak English very well or couldn't hear me or didn't care). The room keys didn't work. The bedspreads were brand new in the 80's, probably the same year they bought the mattresses. The room smelled funny. Loose tiles on the floor. The pool was so dirty you couldn't see the bottom, so needless to say, we skipped that amenity too. At least we had hot water so we could shower and get out of this area first thing the next morning. So like the title said, only stay here if you must. About the area: tons of vagrant folks milling about. Restaurants either close early or are really expensive ($15 for a plate of spaghetti, except no pasta served on weekends, only Mexican food).

"Just overnight"
Teresa A, 21 Juillet 2018

Nice place. Large rooms clean. Cute little balcony to sit out on. Comfortable beds a must for me. Breakfast was good. They have a garden room with a view of the pool you can eat in. Place was very good. Staff was. Friendly and helpful. Workout room was separate from the rest of the buildings.

"Good location but toilet flush was not working"
Divya K, 16 Juillet 2018

This is one of the few hotels in Garberville close to Avenue of the Giants. Everything else was great except the fact that toilet flush stopped working on both nights we stayed there. We thought first time was an accident and the repair technician arrived within 10 mins of complaint. He fixed the issue with plunger. When this happened again on second night, we did not get any response till 0.5 hr. Front desk lady Xinthi attitude was 'I don't care' and offered us a room with 1 king bed saying she didn't have a room with 2 queen bed. We were 4 adults plus 1 kid. When there was still no response after 1 hr, we decided to walk to front desk to chat in person and she offered a room with 2 queen beds to another walk-in guest. Xinthi showed no empathy towards our situation and on top of it lied to us on our faces, saying that room was already reserved whereas it was walk-in. Luckily, the repair person walked into front desk when we were there and fixed our problem in 5 mins. The issue with these toilets is that they have old flush system where you need to hold the flush all the way down till entire water is sucked in. On third day of checkout, we complained of Xinthi attitude to front desk lady (there was no manager at that time) and the staff apologized for her attitude and took note of our complaint. Waiting to hear call back from hotel manager.

"Great hotel in nowhere land"
Rene H, 12 Juillet 2018

This hotel has good, roomy and clean rooms. We had 2 queens and there was plenty of room left for our luggage. TV not so great, but who cares about that. The bathroom had a nice and powerfull shower, so plenty of water to get clean again. They also offer complementory cheese and wine tasting. The outdoor pool with hot tub is also worth a visit. A special recommadation is for the breakfast. This is of an exceptional quality. Fresh fruits, cereals, western style omelets, the works. Really enjoyed it!

"Nice room but not ready on time."
Lawrence5279, 06 Juillet 2018

This is a large hotel with several sections. Check in time was 4:00, which is later than many hotels, but when we got there our room was not ready and we could not get into it until 5:00 which was a full hour after check in time. For the price they were charging, it seems to me the room should be ready on time. Otherwise, the hotel was good. The room was very nice, although it had a refrigerator but no microwave. The fitness center was good and the washer and dryer in the guest laundry worked well. Breakfast and the breakfast room were fine. They had paper towel dispensers near the parking lot for washing windshields, etc. which is a nice touch I haven't seen before.

"Redwoods Gateway"
Lunamaui, 03 Juillet 2018

We loved this hotel from the start. Xinthi was wonderful and warm as she checked us in for our one night stay. She encouraged us to go to the wine and cheese social and we were pleasantly surprised at the variety of cheeses, meats, breads, and other goodies. If you don't want wine you can have a hot beverage. Our room was spacious and very clean with a king sized bed. We especially enjoyed the small balcony that overlooked the pool as it's nice to let fresh air in the room. Breakfast had the usual offerings of cereal, boiled eggs, oatmeal, breads, muffins, and fruit. In addition there was an amazing array of hot foods including fresh scrambled eggs, burritos, and bacon. The attendants at breakfast were so cheerful and pleasant to all guests. We will definitely stay here again as this establishment understands the importance of hospitality.

"Cheese and wine are a nice touch"
jason s, 02 Juillet 2018

Staff were courteous. The staff were familiar with the area and recommended us a place to eat dinner. Room was clean. At dinner time they offer an assortment of cheese and red or white wine. My wife and I enjoy it while our kids were playing in the pool. This hotel is only 15 minutes away from the south end of "Avenue of the Giants", and the staff are knowledge of the best places to go. Would allow at least one fully day to see the Redwoods. Only gripe is the staff did not offer me a gift or points at check in. If you are a platinum member or better, they are supposed to.

"Great amenities for family of four"
SfXand, 28 Juin 2018

We stayed at the Best Western after searching all over for a cool airbnb or hipcamp to fill the weekend we dropped one kid off at camp and needed to drop the other on a Monday. Nothing else was available except this hotel. It turned out to be really great. Xinthia and the other staff, especially the breakfast staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The pool area is great, with a hot tub. Breakfast was included and had healthy options. Room was clean and beds comfortable.

"Crooks! They charged me for two rooms!"
Amy P, 22 Juin 2018

I immediately called the day after our stay (Wednesday) to tell them about their error and was told I would be credited. The following Monday it was still not. I called and was told they would investigate and let me know by the end of the week. It's not ok with me to be charged for a week and a half for their mistake. I said I needed it taken care of Monday or Tuesday and was told that it definitely would not be handled today (Monday). I asked to speak to a manager and was told that I couldn't with no explanation as to why not. Then I was abruptly put on hold. It's not ok to charge someone double and then not fix the problem immediately. It's now Friday after I spoke to them on Monday and I haven't been called back and my credit card hasn't been credited. They have stolen my money and blown me off. I've had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back from their incompetence and lack of quality customer service.

"Excellent establishment!"
T8328HWdonnab, 22 Juin 2018

Hubby and I stayed here after seeing the Avenue of the Giants. Brandi was especially helpful at the front desk. The room was very well appointed and beds comfy. Brandi again helpful w restaurants. We will be back.

"Best hotel in area"
Sadielulu, 21 Juin 2018

We stayed in room 116, the queen suite, which is located on the ground floor next to the pool and spa. It is the only room that has a barbecue. The room is a small apartment. It includes a living room with pullout couch and TV, a separate bedroom with a queen bed, closet and TV, a kitchen with full-size appliances plates, silverware, pots and pans, but no paper products or condiments, and a bathroom. They will tell you you may hear noise in the morning starting at 6 AM because the unit is located directly under the “garden room “which is used to serve breakfast daily. But they may not tell you is set up for breakfast begins at 4 AM. While I heard the noise when I was awake, it was not loud enough to wake me up. There is also a wine and cheese reception from 5:30 to 7:30 and you will hear some noise then too. By far this is the best hotel in the Garberville/Redway area.

"THE SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE AND ROOMS VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE."
BrittneyBoo, 13 Juin 2018

We recently booked a room with an adjoining room for my sister and her husband and our family. I had the pleasure of working with a very sweet and very professional Vietnamese woman at the front desk both when booking the room and when checking in. She truly knows the meaning of great service and applies it when working with customers. We plan on staying again over the 4th of July and look forward to using the beautiful pool and taking advantage of the wine and cheese served in the afternoon. 'One of Garberville's best kept secrets.

"Garberville BW"
sallydrees, 30 Mai 2018

Very nice staff and overall experience was great. We loved being so close to the entrance of The Avenue of the Giants! We were only there one night, but found the room to be clean and the staff was great! Very attentive!

"Very Comfortable Beds"
sportsmom1967, 28 Mai 2018

The staff was professional and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. We really enjoyed the fresh baked cookies. We traveled with our dog and we appreciated the location of our room for taking our dog out.

"Huge comfortable rooms, great breakfast!"
patty s, 28 Mai 2018

We were just passing thru and needed a place to crash for the night, so I don't know anything about the town. This hotel, though, was great! It looks aged on the outside, but inside it's in great shape. Most comfortable bed I slept in on our whole 9 day trip! And the breakfast is WAY beyond your typical continental breakfast - it's got hot bacon, sausage, eggs, and premade omelettes, along with make-you-own waffle machines and the standard fare.

"Good exsprience"
noelleosborn, 28 Mai 2018

This is a good hotel , with excellent amenities. The staff are efficient and courteous. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast has a good selection and the food is fresh. The pool and hot tub are clean and the opening hours are excellent.

"one nogt stay"
minxiekat1, 23 Mai 2018

This was a very wonderful hotel. We were on a corvette run, 5 rooms. Great service, nice rooms, comfortable beds. Enjoyed the wine & cheese very much & breakfast was fresh & lots to choose from. Staff friendly & knowledgeable, obvious they wanted to please us.

"Safe and sound with excellent, caring staff"
juliebyers1975, 23 Mai 2018

My title says it all: this motel takes care of your needs for a clean, safe, and comfortable night, with a WONDERFUL FULL BREAKFAST in the morning. The staff were all experienced, caring, and helpful.

"Nice motel"
bill s, 23 Mai 2018

Clean, well kept motel with an OK breakfast. In the heart of the town. Quiet place. Beds were springy and the shower was confusing. The handle leaked and we informed the staff. Probably, one of this town's best. A bit overpriced at $165.00

"Staff make the place!"
NorthCountryWriter, 22 Mai 2018

The good: the evening wine & cheese party for guests, the double sinks (one in the bathroom and one outside it), an inviting pool area, great breakfast, spacious rooms, a pleasant balcony to sit on at the end of a long day. The WiFI was strong when we were there. Very clean. GREAT staff, very helpful. The bad: the room is very dark, even with every single light turned on. No recycling options. the double bed was average quality. People who travel with many devices, will need to bring their own extension cord and/or power board because the electrical outlets were installed at a time when electronics weren't a part of everyday life. It was a challenge getting everything charged overnight.

"nice as always"
michaelrB5383XH, 19 Mai 2018

It's always a pleasure to stay at the BW in Garberville. The wine and cheese is a great bonus and the staff are always great. One of the better properties in the Best Western chain. I recommend it to anyone passing through that area.

"Loved This Hotel!"
388lovetravelin, 17 Mai 2018

We are on a long road trip and had the pleasure of spending one night at this great Best Western in the small town of Garberville. From check in to check out, everything was perfect. The hotel is very nice and well maintained inside and out. Because of bad knees I could not climb stairs and they made sure we were on the parking lot level. I think there is an elevator for most rooms, but let them know if stairs are an issue. The front desk staff is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is so nice and helpful. The breakfast is great with everything you could possible want. We had a king bed room which was huge with a sofa, desk, table and chairs, and refrigerator. There is no microwave but one can be available in the breakfast room. Our room was beautifully furnished, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We were in Room 205 and had a balcony with a beautiful view of the trees and pool. If traveling with a dog, there is a very nice pet area. Everything was just perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and I highly recommend the Best Western in Garberville when visiting the area.

"Exceptional staff!"
546lorif, 08 Mai 2018

This is a tiny town- so imagine my surprise at such exceptional customer service! Little things that weren't necessary but really make service stand out: The staff drew me a map of dining option. When I asked for spoons to eat some ice cream I bought, they made a little sundae tray! When asking for a wine opener, they also gave me wine glasses. It is not the fanciest place I have ever been, but this place is why I keep coming back to Best Western-- their staff is absolutely willing to

"Great place to stay in Garberville, CA"
Cyndi682, 07 Mai 2018

The staff at the Humboldt House Inn was great. Very helpful, accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and good sized. There is a complimentary happy hour with wine, cheese and hors dourvs. A nice breakfast is included with the stay. Good value allaround.

"Beware of the wandering homeless"
leejoshuag, 06 Mai 2018

Decent place, clean rooms comfy beds & ok breakfast. The Bad: The eggs are nasty, worse than egg beaters probably powdered. There are homeless sleeping on the stairwell landings, loitering around snack machines and digging in the garbage cans at night. So that random noise and the fact that the one guy was sleeping so close to our room in the stairwell had me sleeping with one eye open all three nights we were there.

"Very happy with our stay!!"
shell85me, 29 Avril 2018

This place was clean, well put together, friendly and helpful. Had a great breakfast and in the evening wine with cheese and crackers. Very tasteful. The pool and hot tub area was also very nice. Our oval all stay was great and we will be back there for sure.

"Outdoor be better"
Yayaha, 17 Avril 2018

It's an ok place if you just need an overnight sleep. It does not have a safe feeling. Exterior doors. Lots of workmen. They must have contracts with different companies. Decor is old and rooms are dark. Needs to be updated. Parking lot floods in heavy rain which is fun to walk through with luggage. On the plus side it is dog friendly

"Great Hotel!"
lvegasfan, 13 Avril 2018

I visited the property the second week of April. Up in the mountains easy off the US 101. Friendly staff and great Breakfast. Very good Fitness Room. I think they actually added to the building to make the fitness room. Pool looks great. A little chilly but the Hot Tub worked well.

"I would get to the next hotel on your list."
fkoz, 10 Avril 2018

We checked in late, Everything was fine, Lady at desk was friendly.Kind of earry feeling parking in back lot, felt like we were in Alfred Hitchcock movie.Went to room, room was musty. Had problem with toilet wouldn't flush properly, They sent up expert, he plunged it a few times said it was good. It wasn't made do. Plumbing needs help in this room anyway. Good shower. drained well good pressure.

"Traveling mom"
cacerosjudi, 09 Avril 2018

Nice hotel, clean and spacious. Had pool facing room nice view. Hotel is on main street. Walking distance to eateries. Breakfast was nice selection, love waffles and yogurt. Plus they had a cheese and wine tasting in the evening, wanted to go but had a 17 year old with me and didnt want to leave her on her own. Sound lovely though.

"Great hotel in Garberville"
mkb41, 06 Avril 2018

Stayed here while visiting the Avenue of Giants. We enjoyed the afternoon cheese and wine and the morning breakfast. Both were excellent. Nice heated pool and hot tub. Great room. Great internet. Helpful staff. Enjoyed all aspects of the stay!!

"Good experience"
EGTraveler2018, 05 Avril 2018

Good quality rooms, friendly staff, standard BW breakfast which is complete. I have found this brand to be consistent across the country for the most part and this experience confirmed this for me. Priced right for the quality. Limited options in Garberville, but plenty of options within 30 to 60 miles.

"One night stay "
Marianne L, 31 Mars 2018

We slept one night with four children. They loved the swimmingpool. Even the adults in our family enjoyed a swim in the heated pool. The rooms where nice and big. We had a familyroom and it was perfect. Breakfast was nice and we loved the view from the breakfastroom too the pool.

"NIce hotel but not many dining options"
PPooh72, 27 Mars 2018

We stayed here while we visited the Avenue of the Giants. It served it's purpose for that. There's not much to do in the local area. There's a lot of homeless people wandering around. There are hardly any dining options in this area. We drove up to Fortuna after visiting the Avenue of the Giants and at a McDonald's. Once we were back at our hotel, we bought all our meals at the small grocery store in town. This hotel serves a free breakfast. The options included bagels, waffles, danish, cereal, sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. If I was in the area again, I would probably stay here.

"Very Friendly Staff"
DibDabDwb, 03 Mars 2018

Every person who worked here was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and updated. Much nicer than another motel we stayed in for much more. It's certainly nothing fancy , but comfortable and well maintained. It comes with a full on hot breakfast. This included waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and southwest omelettes . We also had a free glass of wine with cheese and crackers the night before. For the price I was pleasantly surprised.

"Great Hotel"
MHall90, 11 Février 2018

Check in staff was very kind and professional. Hotel is super clean and very comfortable beds. Highly recommend. Garberville is a cute town. Easy access to The Avenue of the Giants in the Redwoods. Beautiful drive.

"Great stay - friendly staff"
Linda L, 04 Février 2018

Enjoyed Christmas vacation here. Nice and quiet. Room was quite large and very clean. Staff was very friendly. Complimentary breakfast was above average. Very small town with limited accommodations. Will be staying here again in spring.

"Welcoming Happy Hour"
PattiWall, 27 Janvier 2018

Clean comfortable quiet rooms. Nice pool area with hot tub. Very clean weight room with TV to watch while walking on tread mill. The Happy Hour provided delicious selection of cheese & crackers and opportunity to share travel stories with other hotel guests over a complimentary glass of red or white wine. Within walking distance of several restaurants in this very small town. The staff and guests of all ages were all exceedingly friendly.

"Expected more from reading the reviews "
FarmerAndHisWife, 08 Janvier 2018

We stayed one night after traveling through the Avenue of Giants. We were had read the reviews and knew there were some great and some not so great. There are not many hotels to choose from. On check-in we were not given any information on what amenities the hotel offered such as breakfast, social hour, pool, fitness room, etc. Our room was spacious bit there was an off odor in the room, as though the hotel was trying to cover up a smell. We opened the window and that didn't help. Just be aware there were also a handful of homeless people that were attempting to stay out of the rain and stayed around the hotel walkways. Unfortunately, because there are limited places to stay in town, this is little incentive to update the hotel.

"Comfy and clean"
327elainat, 30 Décembre 2017

The hotel staff was wonderful, courteous and prompt at check-in and check-out. I appreciated the wine and cheese social as well as the well-stocked and many optioned hot breakfast items. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

"House keeping a disappointment."
Anthony H, 26 Décembre 2017

Routinely forgot to re-supply the coffee condiments. Worst of all I got zero service one day. My room completely not serviced. Front desk had no house keeping staff available. She did what she could by providing me with supplies. Overall a C+

"Good stay but needs some attention"
Debra C, 13 Décembre 2017

We have stayed here before, but could tell hotel is getting old and needs more attention. One of the beds had a large dip in mattress and should be replaced. Staff are friendly and breakfast is good. It's really the only decent hotel in Garberville to stay at in Winter. There are cabins and more rustic places that are more suitable in Summer,

"Needs Refreshing"
SoCal16, 12 Décembre 2017

We only stayed one night. The upstairs room in the back of the hotel was very was spacious. The room desperately needed some TLC. It really needs more electrical outlets to charge your devices. Also It also felt very gloomy. After reading the reviews about noise I requested a quiet room in the back building. It was very quiet, I felt as though we were the only guests in the building. Maybe they're fewer guests on Sunday nights. Good service and easy checkin. They provide a happy hour, good selection with a very cheerful and chatty staff member. My niece was going to have some cheese but she saw mold and decided to pass. The staff member noticed and quickly replaced. The morning breakfast was an array of hot and cold selections. I passed and only had a banana. I'd recommend this hotel.

Vacation get away. The hotel was very clean and the personnel were terrific. We would certainly stay again. We should have used the spa and pool but didn't they looked awesome. The breakfast was very good. It was a great stay!

"Loved our stay!"
553staceyk, 06 Décembre 2017

We had a wonderful stay at the Garberville Best Western Plus and recommended it to our friends and family. The rooms were very quiet, clean and comfortable. Everything from the complementary cheese and wine tasting to the full breakfast in the morning was outstanding. Our son was even given of welcome bag with snacks, soda and bottled water when we checked in for our stay. Conveniently located from the highway, restaurants and shopping all with in walking distance, we highly recommend the Garberville CA Best Western Plus!

"Garberville has a problem"
Docski, 28 Novembre 2017

The hotel is fine. In fact one of the best rooms we had in a 3 week trip. BUT Garberville has a problem. It is (has been?) destroyed by the drug trade. We did not know this when we booked the hotel which is in a small American town at the end of a lovely days' drive and walks in the redwood forests. As usual we asked for recommendations for evening eating. They gave us 2 suggestions. On walking through the town it became evident that many of the inhabitants could not walk or talk. Their neurological sytem was shot. Shops were shut, the cinema looked deserted. We did eat a reasonable meal in a cafe/restaurant and sat in the window watching people go by, obviously in a very bad way. This is not the result of cannabis use, this is the other drugs and alcohol (I know this because I work in this speciality). Very sad. If there ever was tourism here it is going (online research reading the local papers confirmed this). Many employers other than cannabis growers are needed in the area along with major treatment facilities for addiction. On the day we stayed everything became quiet by about 9.30pm. However congratulations to the hotel for providing an excellent haven in a difficult spot. The garden/pool area looked very nice and breakfast was good. The town was quiet in the morning as we left. We probably won't return, I'm afraid.

"Best hotel for stay with dogs"
vandanaj343, 26 Novembre 2017

We liked this best western for all the amenities they offer. We loved the breakfast, pool and the cheese and wine social. We would definitely go back. The staff was very friendly and my family enjoyed our stay.

"Friendly staff"
MikObrin, 22 Novembre 2017

My hotel stay was for my work. I was here for 5 nights. Every staff member I came in contact with, from the front desk to house keeping, were very friendly and helpful. I was treated as a person, not just a room number. The view of the mountain side I had from my balcony was beautiful.

"Nightmare in Garberville, CA"
T1409OInancys, 22 Novembre 2017

Room was O.K. Not great. Kind of dark. Decor needs updating. Good rates. We would not stay again though. The people in the next room were fighting all night long and the Sheriff came at 2:00 a.m. to settle things down. I am not happy with the environment or the town. We walked down the street to find a place for dinner and there were drunk, drugged up homeless people everywhere screaming and yelling obscenities and that just carried through at the hotel with the people in the next room. It was just horrible. I will say though that Best Western did deduct a significant amount from our bill because we were up all night listening to that horrible fighting. But still, Best Western should have had someone handle it at the time it started. We had been traveling all day and we were just exhausted and we had to listen to that all night. Just terrible.

"Loved this place!!!!"
Susan G, 20 Novembre 2017

Only stayed one night - the room was perfect for our needs. The front desk staff was pleasant and professional. Complimentary wine, cheese, meats in the evening with a very personable host. BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING... full fare, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, juices, waffles, it was as really impressive

"Garberville stay"
Vancouver_WA_Wren, 13 Novembre 2017

Good place to stay when traveling in this area. The hotel has nicely appointed rooms, is clean and comfortable has a good breakfast with great service. There are a lot of young pot smokers/homeless wandering about the town which could be a problem with noise/panhandling etc. Once in my room though I felt safe and well cared for. There is a nice wine and cheese reception. Good choice when in the area.

"Business trip"

Great motel to stay in, comfortable beds, nice layout of motel great breakfast I was surprised very good services and motel within walking distance from restaurants and market. Also bars down the street for a night cap if you like

"The Plus, is the Wine & Cheese"
Kristy D, 04 Novembre 2017

We had to get a room with 2 queen beds, so the room seemed a little small. But, it was fine. Not expensive and we got a good nights sleep. It was clean and the staff was really professional and nice. We thought we'd check out the complimentary wine and cheese thing they have in the evening in the breakfast area. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. It was fun, everything tasted good and we met some nice fellow travelers. Oh, and it did have an elevator. Most of these older places don't. You could tell it was and "add on", but it helped a lot. I don't know how to travel light.

"Surprisingly comfortable"
vicki w, 04 Novembre 2017

This hotel surprised me with its accommodations. I figured the room would be clean and tidy, but it was quite spacious (we had 2 queen beds) plus it had an extra sink/counter space in addition to the sink/counter next to the toilet and shower. Having a complimentary "happy hour" setup and a complimentary breakfast (with lots of choices) was an extra plus for our stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone. We only stayed one afternoon/night but it was perfect for our quick stay.

"Quiet except for Saturday nights"
robertmP4089VN, 24 Octobre 2017

Great place to stay until Saturday night arrives. Noisiest hotel I ever encountered. Sleepless Saturday night. I contacted the front desk but my appeal was ignored. Paper thin walls did not help at all.

"Good hotel, clean basic room, good pool area with whirlpool, hot breakfast included"
Becky W, 19 Octobre 2017

Stayed after seeing Humboldt Redwoods. Very convenient & reasonable drive from this destination. We had a clean 2nd floor room w balcony overlooking pool. Beds were fine. There was a nice complimentary wine & cheese reception in the afternoon and a good hot breakfast the next morning w Sausage gravy & biscuits, eggs etc. One of the people working outside looked scruffy, & it appears he lives there.

"Very comfortable,"
Mark K, 18 Octobre 2017

This was my first stay, and I was very happy with my choice. I had Avery nice room with a balcony. It's in the heart of Garberville, watering holes very close, good burgers and a nice restaurant within walking distance. Placed in the heart of big tree country, it is in a very good location, just about an hour south of Eureka. I would definitely stay there again.

"Good hotel in out of the was small town"
Biddiddi, 17 Octobre 2017

We has a good experience here, with helpful staff, though we thought that is was rather highly prices for the place - more like city prices. Room was good with coffee maker etc. Breakfast was fine - the usual fare, served in a nice area light room.

"OK Place"
Carol51181, 12 Octobre 2017

Misleading about two room suite, the layout was not good for two couples, only had one bathroom, and the previous breakfast reviews made it sound great, which was just the typical breakfast. Happy hour was nice and the people there were great.

"Good place"
Red_Cat_Kayaker, 11 Octobre 2017

We stayed here on a trip up the coast. It was one of 9 different places we stayed in. It had the best breakfast buffet of all. The wine and cheese reception was a particularly nice feature. Clean room. Friendly staff.

"Great room - not sound proof!"
elizabethwR9083JX, 11 Octobre 2017

Hotel was beautiful - and wonderfully clean - bed was amazing. Sleep on the other hand, did not come until the establishment across the street closed at 2 am! It would have been nice to have been forewarned about the possibility of noise... or even to have been asked when we left if we had a good night. I totally understand the hotel is in no way responsible for the noise... but to have had warning ...might have helped my attitude. If you book here... be sure to ask for a room in the back of the hotel.. the rooms up closest to the street enjoy the full celebration of everything going on in the street.

"Great bed!"
Roberta R, 11 Octobre 2017

I loved the place and the bed was exceptional. I also appreciated that they had an fitness room, pool, and hot tub. The location was right on our way and the timing worked out great. I highly recommend this location.

"Went at bad time"
davidlE6188GU, 08 Octobre 2017

There were young people hanging around the whole town and around the hotel looking for pot grooming jobs , we had a hard time even getting into the ONLY store in town We were woken up at 4 am with pot smoke coming in our room from room down below us

"Sketchy area"
FingerLakesTino, 27 Septembre 2017

The Humbolt House is a decent place but seems to be used for many construction workers who are in the area. Several people hanging around outside after dark. We did enjoy their wine and cheese reception. If you don't need to stay in Garberville drive further!!!!!

"Well tended and well mannered"
goodlyon, 25 Septembre 2017

The people who work here are really sweet and helpful. The place is kept up nicely enough and the pool and hot-tub was clean and relaxing. A challenge I have with BW generally is that their free breakfast food is low quality -- reconstituted eggs, cheap peanut butter substitutes etc. I wish they would fix that, I might choose BW more often.

"Happy with Stay"
kiduannf, 23 Septembre 2017

Initial thought was to find next town, however it was late so we stopped. The front desk rep, was friendly and helpful, and made us feel at ease. The general area is not the best but the hotel was comfortable and clean and the service was great.

"coastseekers"
Donna S, 22 Septembre 2017

Very clean, quiet and a very nice evening complimentary wine tasting with other treats. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Our sole complaint was that we found the bedding to be very heavy in weight and thus too warm so ask for a lighter blanket before bedtime.

"Disappointed this time."
johnbU5799XW, 19 Septembre 2017

Supposed to be non smoking room. So much smoking was going on in adjacent rooms and balconies that we could not leave our sliding door open nor sit on our balcony to enjoy the promised mountain and pool views. The smoke included cigarettes and marijuana. At checkout when I complained, the girl said "people smoke these days". I was a regular at this BW, but not any more. They need to work on enforcement of the no smoking policy, and on their customer service. Also the HVAC system in our room was marginal and noisy at best.

"New Inprovement are Great at the BW Garberville"
256nathanw, 18 Septembre 2017

This is the best place to stay in Garberville, hands down. The people are great. They are constantly upgrading the facilities. The new exercise room helps you relieve the stress. The location has a nice pool, is 30 mins from the Pacific Ocean. They is lots to see in and around Garberville. Garberville has a rich history. They just need more places to eat.

"Noisy"
P4728BXtimm, 14 Septembre 2017

We were awaken multiple times by other guests up until 5 am . When we told management we were told they were entertainers and they didn't seem to care. We were told we would get a discount but never did.

"Good hotel in Bad Neighborhood "
waterkidd, 11 Septembre 2017

The hotel is fine, staff very nice. We did have an issue because of our neighbor who smoked pot so heavily in their room it drifted into our room and set off the smoke alarm in their room. All rooms are non-smoking but our room reeked of smoke and we don't smoke. The neighbors also had a lot of traffic in and out and very noisy. There are a lot of homeless type people wandering around and thru the hotel property. If you stay here just watch your back. All rooms exit to outside, no interior halls. So homeless are coming to ice machine and lingering all around the property. We watched all this outdoor activity from our little 1st floor street front patio. I would give this hotel a higher score if it were located in a better neighborhood.

"Overnight stay"
alyhsnna55, 10 Septembre 2017

This was a nice place to stay one night. We had a patio & poolside room. The only issues we had were dogs wandering around without leashes, and other guests smoking marijuana off of their balconies. The front desk staff was friendly, but it seemed like they were short-handed. The outdoor pool and hot tub was nice after a long day of driving. We'd stay here again if we're in the area.

"50th birthday bike trip!"
pandmforever, 05 Septembre 2017

We biked 1045 miles from Vancouver BC and ended in Garberville, Ca. Over 25 days were spent exploring the Pacific Northwest and its stunning coastline, rivers, forests, lakes, and breathtaking islands. We ended at the Humbolt House in Garberville expecting to ease our weary muscles in the hot waters of their jacuzzi. We were very disappointed to discover murky green water and as a result we opted to skip the soak we had been waiting for. Our Room was adequate, internet worked well, and breakfast bar offered a decent selection of breakfast foods. Overall experience was average.

"Great Spot to Stay for Visiting Avenue of the Giants"
User, 05 Septembre 2017

We had a great stay at this spot, the room was great, bed comfortable, wifi good. Staff were friendly and super helpful. The nightly wine & cheese is a nice touch and Brandon did a great job taking care of us during that event. The morning breakfast was done well and the staff was hustling to refill items , clean tables etc. I usually don't stay at Best Westerns but this experience has changed my mind about this chain!

"Skip it"
krand12, 04 Septembre 2017

Unless you're desperate (like we were), I'd skip this town. We got the last room because we called from a Best Western about 20 miles north that was sold out. The desk personnel was not the friendliest (see * remarks below for level of service). Although, we did not get tge lady who seemed to be from Hawaii (flower in her hair). She seemed to be welcoming to the other people. The hotel has smoking rooms. Since ours was the last room, it was smoking even though we don't smoke. Room itself was okay. It was on the basement level, so it felt like walking through a dungeon to get to the room. Add to the fact we passed a two room with babies that were crying hysterically, it felt weird. Once in the room, it was mostly quiet, large, comfy beds. Sprayed the room down with air freshener which helped a bit. You can definitely hear people above you walking around. The highlight turned out to be te breakfast room! I was going to skip it because I wanted out if the town, but the room is bright, beautiful, lots of rables overlooking the pool. It's a full breakfast. The only bad thing I could say is the attendants need to keep a closer eye on things. One garbage bin was overflowing as we left. Also, the gravy was out for a while. I watched people scrape the bottom until someone was able to find an attendant and let them know. Now the town. The town is weird. I didn't know what it was, but all of the people had a strange look to them. Turns out, it's the marijuana capital of the US. There are signs at the gas station requiring shirts and no patchouli oil. The people were dirty and zombie-like. And you'd think that there would be restaurants open past 6, but anything that was, looked sketchy. There is a nice diner in the next town north. Be aware of all of this if you want to stay here. *I have noticed that every response from management here to a negative review is basically "I'm sorry you weren't happy with your stay" and that's it. If it's that lazy/uncaring of a response, you know they're not going out of their way to make your stay better.

"Very nice stay, enjoyed the wine/cheese hour"
Patricia P, 31 Août 2017

Nice property in a shabby town. Great value for price paid. Room was too hot upon arrival (over 100 outside). Bedding was comfortable except having too heavy comforter/blanket for summer season. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Excellent wine/cheese hour and had the best complimentary breakfast out of 3 BW properties we stayed during our trip.

"Great Value For Area"
darlenem253, 30 Août 2017

Overall, this hotel is one of a very few in the city of Garberville, Ca. You have a choice of a few other smaller hotels, which looked to us to be a bit outdated. There is one larger hotel with nostalgic ambience in the area, however when we checked into that choice, it's a bit pricier, and most of those rooms don't have a TV, at least at the time of this writing a review. Also, another positive with Best Western, you get free breakfast included in your stay, and you can count on the rooms being tidy & clean. The staff here was great, no problems with them, they were very friendly and helpful. We also had free wine & cheese on a Saturday evening that was complimentary, which we thought was generous. If looking for a neat, clean, room and not having to spend a small fortune, this is an all around best option. Nothing fancy, just a comfortable room.

"Humboldt House Inn"
h0rsew0man, 26 Août 2017

Very pleasant motel. Unfortunately, I did not have time to use the swimming pool, but it looked nice. I could safely open the window at night to get fresh air. Beds were good. Wine and snacks at check in were pleasant. Breakfast was fairly good, except crowded seating.

"One of our favorites"
kellyhR5792TG, 25 Août 2017

We have stayed here for years as we are motorcycle riders and enjoy the roads around Garberville. The rooms are comfortable. They serve nice wine and cheese in the late afternoon. Breakfast is above average. Look forward to staying here again.

"Worst customer service EVER"
Julie M, 21 Août 2017

The customer service at this hotel is ATROCIOUS! My husband called the 1-800 number and used his Best Western Rewards points to book a room for myself, my little sister, and my 3-year-old daughter to stay on a mini-road trip. Prior to arriving we called the hotel to confirm our reservation (it was confirmed). Upon arriving I waited in the lobby for 10 minutes while the counter attendant shamelessly flirted and whipped her hair around while checking in another customer. When it was my turn I gave her my name and told her that Best Western Headquarters had directly sent the Humboldt House Best Western a voucher for our stay, using Rewards points. She said that they had chosen not to accept the voucher since my husband was not staying at the hotel with us. I told her that Headquarters had clearly understood that my husband was not staying with us, and had allowed us to make the reservation (and were very polite and encouraging). The attendant told me that each Best Western was privately owned, and they “strictly protected” their rewards members and use of their points. She said that I was welcome to discuss the issue with her manager, who would be returning to the hotel on Tuesday (this was a Saturday evening). In the meantime, I was welcome to stay at their hotel for the standard nightly rate of approximately $200.00. For the Best Western. In Garberville. I told her that it did not seem as though I had a choice, since I had an exhausted 3-year-old with me and I had been planning a stay in Garberville, and I had driven one hour out of my way in order to use my husband's rewards points on the room. The next morning I went back to the lobby to ask that, at the very least, they apply the night's stay to my Best Western Rewards account. The (different) attendant told me that she could not help me and suggested that I call the 1-800 number. Thank you, Humboldt House Best Western, for a completely disappointing experience. I work for the State of California and travel often for work. I will be sure and let my 10,000+ coworkers know how well I was treated at your hotel.

"This is Garberville"
Linda F, 20 Août 2017

Let me put things in perspective: Garberville has a population of fewer than 1,000 people. Were it not for the fact that it is near the southern entrance to the "Avenue of the Giants" redwoods forest, Garberville probably wouldn't exist. Yes, the town has a "seedy" feel to it. You're not going to find chain restaurants and big-box stores. Having said that, this BW needs lots of TLC. The "hotel" is more like a motel. There are outside corridors, and an elevator. Our room, #309, has a balcony with small table and 2 chairs, overlooks the pool. The room is large, and clean, with a king-size bed, sofa and small table, small fridge, 2 sink bathroom (2nd sink in separate room). The staff was very helpful giving us suggestions for a place to eat and directions to the "Avenue of the Giants". At 5:30P, they serve wine, cheese, crackers; the buffet breakfast is adequate: eggs, waffles, etc. If Garberville is your starting point to see the redwoods, this BW may be your only option. Give it a try.

"Stay away!!! Super seedy and scary part of town!"
Traveler 300, 19 Août 2017

The motel was fine. Rooms were clean, though a bit sparse. But the area was so seedy and scarey. Lots of homeless and people living out of old cars. Couldn't understand why the town had so many homeless in their 20's. Read up (after the fact). The town is famous for marajuana growing and harvesting. They hire 20 somethings to trim the marajuana leaves. Unfortunately this culture brings lots of homeless. We were scared the entire time of our car being broken into. Homeless were skateboarding in the parking lot and having a party until 2 am outside. It tainted our entire experience. Would NEVER go back. There was a marajuana store 2 doors down from the motel. Feel bad giving the hotel a bad rating based on the area, but it was so sketch. If you must stay in Humboldt, stay at the Benbow Historic Inn--and don't go into the town.

"Humboldt House Inn"
U8649DZscottr, 17 Août 2017

The front end staff at check-in were great. She went out of her way to make sure we had all of the information we needed to make our stay great. She also provided information about the town and the area.

"Okay"
Johnmichelle V, 17 Août 2017

This hotel was okay for the price. Hard to find a parking spot. Rooms old and dark. But comfy and clean. Breakfast was no good, coffee was good donuts were store bought and that's what I mostly ate. Toast and cereal where good too.

"Horrible Customer Service, check your credit card bill"
Sameer S, 13 Août 2017

Took family here to visit Redwoods. Came back to see that the hotel charged my double the rate they gave me my reservation for on booking.com without telling me anything! Had to call the hotel and the website and get into many arguments to get my money back. Booking.com said they have never seen a hotel act in such an unethical manner. If you stay here, check your credit card for what they charge you!

"Just barely ok"
Ron P, 13 Août 2017

We're glad we could get a room on a busy Saturday night as it's a long stretch between Eureka and Ukiah. This little sleepy town has 3-4 local motels, but Best Western is the only national chain. This place is good for a one night stay, but the walls are paper thin and the noise was annoying. Hint, don't take room 115. It's large, but down at the bottom of the stairs and close to the pool. Pool hours are until 10pm, but on this night, the noise continued well into the late hours, maybe midnight. Luckily, the numerous pillows blocked out the noise. The room had a classic stale motel room smell, but tolerable. Breakfast is called a full breakfast, but it's really nothing special. Overall, for the price, it's very poor, but being the only national chain, they have you by the short hairs. If it were $100 less, it becomes average for the price range.

"The perfect getaway"

"Like and old shoe – aged but comfortable"
Tedstravelblogs, 02 Août 2017

An ageing (late 70s?) motel-type property that is almost assuredly the best Garberville (pop. <1000) has to offer. It has been well maintained and is a pleasant enough place to stay but its best years are past. For Garberville, it's probably very good but in the wider marketplace it would struggle to score average. The good: check in was efficient and courteous. Our guest rooms were generous, clean, comfortable and in good repair. The beds were comfortable, the linens fine and there were enough pillows to find one that suited most tastes. Most everything expected was there and it all worked as expected. The bathrooms are like a tour through a museum of twentieth century restroom architecture but all the necessities were there and they all worked fine. The included wifi worked well on all our devices. Car parking was – a la motel – right at the door of our rooms. Breakfast is a better-that-average BW buffet affair with paper plates and plastic cutlery taken in a pleasant and well-tended dining room overlooking the pool. The not so good: many of the guest rooms face Garberville's main street so some traffic noise is unavoidable but Highway 101 is sufficiently removed to silence most of that. We booked “pool view” rooms to monitor the grandchildren travelling with us. The pool was assuredly visible by hanging off the edge of the balcony of the rooms but it was a long way off which largely defeated the purpose and cost. We were only there for the night so it was hardly worth a face-off. The décor and furnishings are last-century chain-hotel standard with faux-stucco walls, floral wallpaper and a patina of age. The air conditioners are from another era and given the torrid weather were overnight essentials: so were earplugs.

"Road trip stop over - Humboldt and Redwoods"
KHSLex, 30 Juillet 2017

I have found that while traveling near a lot of national and state outdoor treasures, luxury accommodations are rarely available. This BW is fine and serves its purpose - a good nights sleep, a place to wash some hiking attire, and grab a quick breakfast on your way to see the Redwoods.

"Great Value"
I3345LYlarryh, 27 Juillet 2017

We stayed one evening, nice staff, overall clean and pleasant. What was great for us is the pet friendliness and the location was close to everything. We will be back and have so much more to explore in Eureka.

"Worth the money you paid for. A luxury..."
Rebecca A, 26 Juillet 2017

I brought my grandchildren and daughter to stay here for a night. The rooms and the ambiance, the place is luxury. They have elevator and disabled access and pet friendly rooms. They serve free good selection of breakfasts and at 5 to 7pm they serve wine and cheese... A luxury hotel worth staying for...

"Road Bike trip"
320ronaldt, 25 Juillet 2017

Everything was fine except the air conditioning kept shutting off. We think it was because of the curtains hanging over it would affect the thermostat. Breakfast was great. Pool and spa were very nice. We used the spa the most. Wish I had remembered my best western rewards card the first two nights. Overall it was a good stay.

"Good bed, guiet night - everything you need to get your day started"
Bradley B, 24 Juillet 2017

This location is a bit dated, however has a good coat of paint :). For me the ultimate question is did you get a good night's sleep - a comfortable bed and a quiet location. This motel had both. Also they served a very complete, full breakfast - bacon, sausage, waffles, scrambled eggs, omelette, yogurt, juice, etc, etc, etc. Very nice staff. They have a captured audience, however and the pricing here is very high for three star motel in the middle of no where.

The mentioned staff needs to be trained in customer service etiquete does and don'ts. The carpets need to be changed they are filthy and black. fyi to many homeless around your property and not to many places to eat there. Everybody closes early in July??? Only bars open and a want to be Italian Restaurant with a lounge lissard.

"Don't Stay Here"
K7094VCpeterb, 20 Juillet 2017

This place was awful. Day One - Our card keys didn't work. They said you have to come and have them redone each day. We stayed 3 nights so that meant three times! Day Two - They don't replace anything that you use. This includes cups, coffee, etc. Day Three - When we checked in we had our comfirmation from the online booking at the agreed rate. The desk person used it to check us in. When we checked out, they charged us $150.00 more than the agreed rate. When we asked about it they said it changed after we checked in but before we checked out! Isn't that illegal? I demanded my refund but have not received it. I pointed out that their on line rate at the moment we are talking, was $160.00 per night not 200.00. They said the website was wrong! Please don't stay here. Criminal!

"Excellent"
486lianap, 20 Juillet 2017

Beautiful, relaxing, elegant pool area and views. Professional, eager to please staff. Especially Helen. Excellent experience. Delicious wine and cheese bar with crackers, bread and fruit. Sumptuous breakfast spread in lovely dining area overlooking pool and mountain view. Like a retreat!

"A good place to spend a night"
Beverlyrita, 20 Juillet 2017

The staff was great, the room was acceptable. While the bed was comfortable it had a sheet and a heavy comforter, so you were either a little cold or way too hot. They have a rare wine and cheese reception in the evening which is nice for some and the breakfast was great.

"Great place to stay!"
arethereanyleftatall, 18 Juillet 2017

Friendly, helpful staff, great pool and hot tub, great breakfast, great rooms, great stay! Clean, we'll lit parking area, nice workout area. Hotel exterior looks great, no complaints whatsoever. My kids absolutely loved the extra large pool, hot tub, and fire pit area.

"Best in room coffee "
Roxhound, 11 Juillet 2017

This was a lovely hotel that offered many things that were very appreciated. They had a lovely wine and cheese reception for the guests. And a very nice hot breakfast in the morning. Their standard room seems to be a double queen which is very spacious. the grounds were well-kept and clean. The best part of the room though was the coffee which was very good and they supplied multiple packages along with decaf and assorted tea. Most of the rooms had a small patio balcony. Although the price is a bit higher than usual it's definitely the best choice in Garberville. Calicos is the happening place to eat and drink in walking distance.

"Good hotel"
karenwE7996QM, 11 Juillet 2017

The service is very good. The food selection was very large and very good. The staff was very friendly and provided outstanding service. The only thing that was bad was the price seemed a little high. The location was good.

"The pics may show what once was but is no more"
Tammir, 09 Juillet 2017

This is a MOTEL with outside entrances! It is outdated and could use some updating. We arrived late 10pm so perhaps the person who checked us in was tired but she did not greet us, did not smile, in fact didn't say anything at first. Upon entering I said we have two rooms reserved for tonight and without looking up she simply said I need to see your I.D. it wasn't angry it wasn't friendly it was just uncaring. The clientele we're mainly truckers, construction workers but not many families that I could tell. If I had been travelling alone I would not have felt safe being a woman alone in this place. Along the street of this motel we're taverns and bars with loud and noisy people who had had too much to drink.

"Very Accommodating Staff, and Gluten Free Breakfast!"
FolsomGal, 08 Juillet 2017

One of the better Best Western Hotels. Nicely maintained property; very secure - card entry needed for just about everything. Staff is exceptionally accommodating. Not a lot of restaurant options in Garberville, but the motel has gluten free options for breakfast which was really appreciated by my husband. We will return.

"Excellent place to stay, beautiful environment and extremely friendly staff"
726jonip, 07 Juillet 2017

Excellent place to stay, beautiful environment and extremely friendly staff. We stayed at the humbled house on a nine day vacation through California. It was definitely our favorite state of the entire trip

"Poor Front Desk Services"
370jadec, 06 Juillet 2017

The room below ours needed repairs so our water was turned off without knowing. Front desk workers were rude and not making the situation any better. Had to use a different room to shower which delayed our day greatly. We were told we would get a 20% discount for our inconvenience but at check out, we only were given $50 off (not 20%). The rest of the employees were nice and helpful though.

"Poor check in procdure"
Bob F, 06 Juillet 2017

We waited close to an hour for our room, even though we didn't arrive until 15 minutes before check in time. They were very disorganized. The front desk repeatedly asked the staff what the hold up was but we never got an answer. everything else about our stay was enjoyable, but the check in process was a disaster.

"Great place to stay and Dog friendly"
robertmE2219HY, 06 Juillet 2017

This is a hidden gem and one of the best value hotels we have ever stayed at. We have stayed here on several occasions and will be back. Clean, quite, and friendly morning breakfast and afternoon wine tasting. A must if you are going to visit the Redwoods.

"Excellent location and stay"
M7032WPsandrab, 05 Juillet 2017

great stay and we were very pleased with friendliness of staff - breakfast was perfect as we headed out early for day of hiking - little bummed that the pool was filled with kids but oh well I guess - gave us a great tip to eat at Cecil's Restaurant within walking distance and the food was OUTSTANDING plus live music was fun!

"great quality inn near Avenue of the Redwoods"
dragonrees, 04 Juillet 2017

This is a very nice motel right on highway 101 in Garberville. The room was very clean and nicely decorated and sleep quality was great. Our building was three floors and had an elevator. The lobby is welcoming and the front desk staff are very cordial and efficient. Check in and check out were very easy. The breakfast area is cozy with sufficient seating. The included breakfast was, in my opinion, a cut above the breakfasts usually included in motel stays and the women in charge was very good. Wifi is complimentary and our room had microwave and refrigerator. Parking is easy. There is also a nice swimming pool. Several restaurants are within easy walking distance and I highly recommend Cecil's New Orleans Bistro. I feel that this large motel is great if you are just passing through or staying for a few nights to visit the redwoods.

"Wauw!"
Anyty, 29 Juin 2017

After a disappointing day of travel we were exhausted. This hotel was everything we needed! The kindest staff and perfect swimming pool. The complimentary wine and cheese was fantastic! As we were on a road trip we liked the conversation with other residents; we got some great info about where to go next. I recommend this hotel highly! Thanks for a great stay. :-)

"Humboldt County"
raesheav, 29 Juin 2017

A very good hotel. Staff were nice, and polite we had a quick check-in. I saw other reviews of this hotel and was a little scared to book. I'm so glad I did this place was awesome and comfortable enough to meet my standards when I'm away from home. The room was large, a flat screen tv, a sitting area, and a good comfortable bed.The wine and cheese reception was excellent! As well as the breakfast. This is a great stop when visiting the awesome redwoods!!! I will stay here again when in Humboldt county!

"Great value"
Richard H, 28 Juin 2017

This hotel was the perfect place this hotel was the perfect place to stay while rouring redwood forest. The rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was GREAT!! It was not fancy but I would definitely stay again. Great values!!

"clean, comfortable, friendly"
Don R, 28 Juin 2017

A nice accommodation in the redwoods area. Very friendly staff, and large, comfortable rooms. Nice pool area which we could access directly from our room. The welcome wine and cheese reception was a nice touch. Lots of counterspace in the bathroom which is appreciated. Rates were a little high for this type of property but they could get it because of nearby music festival and no vacancies.

"Great Hotel Experience"
Klems3, 28 Juin 2017

We always choose the Humboldt Inn in Garberville when we visit the Humboldt/Trinity County area. The hotel is always clean, and the breakfast and wine and cheese reception are fabulous. The views from the upper floors are wonderful. For the first time, we brought our dog with us, and the hotel is so incredibly dog friendly, it made our first experience vacationing with our dog so easy! They even gave him a little welcome bag, which included a sheet and some bones! The only drawback, and it has NOTHING to do with the hotel, is there are limited places to eat out in Garberville and the hours are not always conducive to vacationing families. I would TOTALLY recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends!

"Big Room, Good Features"
Rosemary W, 22 Juin 2017

We had a room with a king bed. The room was huge, with a love seat and coffee table, small dining table with two chairs, small desk with chair, dresser, refrigerator, coffee maker, small balcony outside with seating. The bathroom was a full bathroom with shower/tub, toilet, and sink with plenty of counter space. A bonus - outside the bathroom was another sink and counter. The bathroom area was designed so the second sink was NOT exposed to the sleeping area (as it is in all too many hotels). This is a great feature for couples, or family members. The shower was the best we have had in weeks. Even though our door and window both faced parking/walking areas, we weren't disturbed by noise (we did leave the fan on). We appreciated the free WiFi and the hot breakfast. We also appreciate the friendly service. Note - This is a two story building, but there is no elevator, so if your luggage is heavy, request a downstairs room.

"Great customer service"
Laura C, 20 Juin 2017

After along day of driving this hotel was amazing, they managed to get our family into a room without notice and provided us with a roll away. Good customer service is hard to find it was so nice that we were a priority.

"Price"
U9919JSbarbarad, 19 Juin 2017

Went to motel without reservation and found price higher that expected due to a Motorcycle run. Staff admitted that the price was raised just for the special event. Every other place in town was doing the same

"very comfortable beds"
477abrahamk, 13 Juin 2017

We really enjoyed our stay here after being in the redwoods. The beds were exceptional comfort and the room was very clean. I liked the sinks outside of the bath area. One drawback was the outside access to the room and the parking lot was hardly adequate for all the big pickups, but to be expected in a tourist area of California.

"Near Humboldt Redwoods"
Verna C, 12 Juin 2017

The best thing about this hotel is that it's near the Humboldt Redwoods! The rooms aren't special, but they're clean. Our room had two sinks, one inside the bathroom and one right outside the bathroom, in a dressing area. It also had lots of mirrors, which is a plus. The complimentary wine and cheese was nice, too!

"Run Don't Walk Away"
philcQ4744DB, 12 Juin 2017

Will never stay in this Best Western again. From the worn and dated furniture in the lobby to the noisy unkept room, this was not a fun place. Homeless drinking n the parking lot. 4am gun shots fired. Could not wait to get out in the morning.

"Nicest place in the town"
Annbosslady, 11 Juin 2017

We were traveling north from San Francisco along the coast and had not made any reservations beforehand. When we reached Garberville we looked at a few motels but decided to go to the Best Western, and we are so glad we did. Nice hotel with clean room, free breakfast and also free cheese and wine on arrival served in Green Room between 5:30 and 7:30. Marilyn, the wine server calls herself Marilyn "Merlot" and she is so sweet and funny. The wine was really excellent and there was bread and crackers to have with the many different cheeses. Our check in took time due to the fact that the Hotel Administration only pays for one receptionist to be on duty and once check in time arrived at 4 pm there was a line of people waiting. We arrived about 4:45 so we were able to watch the process for others. Even though the receptionist was alone and very busy, she was calm and patient, and answered all questions with a friendly smile, whilst apologizing to everyone for the long wait. If only hotel administrators (who only think about profits) had to actually do this kind of thing, they might spend a few more dollars on additional staff. They are lucky to have such dedicated hard-working staff who can handle this pressure. Our stay was lovely and we slept well in the very comfy beds. The receptionist helped me join the Rewards program and we intend to stay at more BWs

"This was a nice place and great for dogs"
khrecruit, 11 Juin 2017

The rooms were nice as was the complimentary wine/cheese hour and the breakfast - all included. They have a very nice staff and good places around to walk the dog if you go out to the road in back and head left. Not a lot to recommend Garberville but the hotel was very nice.

"Enjoyed our stay!"
kensE8788VH, 05 Juin 2017

Nice, clean, safe hotel. Great pool & hot tub. Felt safe at all hours. Staff is friendly & helpful. Our dog used the cute dog area. Loved our room. Had no trouble parking. Delicious breakfast with plenty of variety. We went up there to hike in the redwoods. Had fun chatting with the other hotel guests.

"Convenient"
edwardgW7937RB, 02 Juin 2017

Everything you need for a fine stay close to the State Parks. The breakfast was pretty good, although you don't want to be there during the busiest crunch time. Spacious rooms, at least ours was. There is an interesting mural of the redwoods tourist area where you can take a picture.

"Great Place"
Roxanna Y, 01 Juin 2017

Great place to stay. People are friendly, rooms are very clean and spacious. Breakfast was good, food hot, plenty of everything. Right in the middle of the Redwoods which is why we were there. Not a lot of choices for meals, but you won't go hungry.

"Incredibly overpriced cheap motel like experience"
i100110, 31 Mai 2017

For 150$ the room they provide is vastly inferior to lower fare Holiday Inn. The room smells, terrible stench comes out of the bathroom drains at night. Tiny, cheap bathroom, all accessories are very dated.

"Hidden Jewel"
lindal0uiset, 31 Mai 2017

I don't usually do surveys, however, the attention to detail, customer service and clean rooms was so outstanding that I must share with anyone traveling in the Garberville area that you can't go wrong by staying at this Best Western - it is a hidden jewel in the mountains.

"Good choice"
physbiz, 29 Mai 2017

The room was excellent and the breakfast was more than adequate. The only negative was that we had to wait about 20 minutes to check in. The staff was friendly and we would be happy to stay here again.

"Great experien"
U8273RPalanb, 27 Mai 2017

Great place. Very helpful and courteous staff. Went out of their way to make us feel at home. Rooms were nice. Pool was great. Complementary wine and cheese every night. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the red woods.

"Rest spot"
brucekjones, 22 Mai 2017

My wife and I had just finished a long hike and wanted to spend the night this hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly the beds were comfortable and the pool was nice. We will stay there again in the future when where in that area.

"Very glad to have stopped and stayed here!"
jeannineh967, 19 Mai 2017

My kids and I stopped here after visiting the redwoods and are very glad we did! The hotel was excellent. They went over and above in making our stay comfortable - wine and cheese, breakfast, pool and spa and even a gift bag for our pet:) All with great customer service!

"Great amenities and very friendly staff"
lindagG2432OK, 16 Mai 2017

The desk clerks were so friendly and gave us water & snacks. We were so impressed to partake in the wine & cheese reception. We sat in the solarium overlooking the pool & hot tub. Room very comfortable, clean & quiet. And we were able to park close to our room. Delicious buffet breakfast with many selections.

"Not enough great things to say"
Bart B, 16 Mai 2017

This motel is so much nicer than you'd expect for the price. The rooms are huge, the extra sink outside the bathroom is super-convenient and it's perfectly located for a day of adventuring in the redwoods. And the breakfast options are very good. Garberville is also good for some exploring, too. The book shop and Stonery are must-visit stops.

"Welcoming and Lovely"
elainemO2940CV, 16 Mai 2017

This Inn is one of the few that has a happy hour for guests. The staff is very friendly and warm and the accommodations are great. There was no sound from adjacent rooms, or below us. It's a beautiful Inn in a beautiful part of the country.

"has been going downhill"
travln m, 03 Mai 2017

PARKING LOT IS BEING PAVED, SMELLY :( Used to be a pleasant place to stop on business in the area. Staff is not very helpful and has poor attitude. They charge 10.00 to borrow a corkscrew. "Im sorry I cant make that change" seems to be their motto. I will continue up 101 in the future. Not worth the money.

"Very welcoming"
Peppertaz, 20 Avril 2017

We stayed here one night on our road trip up the coast. The service was super friendly and the place had some nice amenities. First one was when we checked in they said they were having wine and cheese in the dining area. We went to check it out and it was stocked! 3 different cubed cheeses, salami, various crackers, snack mix, Brie, baguette slices, sodas and red and white wine. Needless to say we used that as our dinner since it was a holiday and the town didn't offer much of anything else since places were closed. Rooms were good sized and clean. The staff really makes this place! The front desk staff was so welcoming and informative too, during the night something happened on 101 and the road was closed they had fliers printed up and let everyone know. Luckily we got through that part the day before and we're going in the other direction but it was nice of them to give people the heads up! Breakfast was hot and fresh with lots of choices and included for free. I used my reward points for this stay I believe it was 20,000 points.

"Won't return"
threedogknight, 20 Avril 2017

This is a very average property and our room didn't feel particularly clean. The air freshener/cleaning products they use was particularly horrible. The real problem here was the town itself which is full of homeless folks. I have dogs to walk so I met a number of the town's homeless residents most of whom were friendly. The sketchy part mostly involved the patrons of the bar across the street. Loud music till midnight and lots of cars driving around the parking lot. We will never return and I suggest you plan your travels to avoid having to stay here.

"Lovely hotel"
Lisa P, 19 Avril 2017

We had a family reunion in Garberville at this hotel. The staff was amazing! Helpful with the kids, Warmed up the pool for them. Let us use the community room the whole time. There seemed to always be food or wine in there available included in the price of the room.

"New staff, not as pleasant, but has potential."
guillermot981, 17 Avril 2017

The staff appears to be new as we visit this location every year (22 people in 6 rooms) and we usually recognize most if not all employees. The previous staff made everyone feel like a friend they hadn't seen in a while. I don't know what happened to the previous staff, but we hope the new staff develops the legacy hospitality skills of the previous staff. Perhaps there was a change of management in our absence.

"Comfortable stay"
jhacruz94, 16 Avril 2017

The room is clean & comfortable. It was unexpectedly large room. Only 2 floors so no elevator. Location is perfect..just off the freeway with small cafes in the area. Complimentary hot breakfast was provided.

"Nice hotel, neighborhood??"
vickygP6005ES, 02 Avril 2017

Overall nice stay. Outside the property, the neighborhood seemed kind of sketch. When we ventured out there appeared to be bums/druggies loitering around town. Loved the proximity to Avenue of the Giants.

"I AM IN MISERY"
laurencb10, 26 Mars 2017

This place sucks. I came here for an overnight stay as we were passing through and I was honestly scared. Right by our room drug deals were happening and I felt like it was a homeless apocalypse! When I went outdoors to get some fresh air, all I got was the fresh smell of marijuana! Ewww!

"Do not stay in this town!!"
Marexplorer, 26 Mars 2017

We stayed at the Best Western Humboldt House Inn. We had ants all over our bathroom counter and coffee machine. None of the restaurants were open and there were homeless people all over the town and people getting stoned right outside our door. I did not feel safe at all anywhere we went. I felt like the town was straight out of the Twilight Zone. Seriously, do not waste you time or money to stay in this town. It's horrible.

"Cozy Place with Great Breakfast!"
SaltLife70, 23 Mars 2017

Checked in very late from leaving the Redwood forest but managed to get a room with a attached bedroom to accommodate 5 travelers. Turned out to be great. The rooms was clean, equiped with coffee and tea. We awoke to Continental breakfast provided by the hotel in which there were many choices. It was well prepared, tasted great and gave us what we needed to hit the road. Hats Off to the Chef!

"Nice and clean!"
namhla, 23 Mars 2017

Nice hotel, easy access from hwy 101. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and filling. Hot tub clean and nice and deep. Extra blanket in room was appreciated. Shower was hot and water pressure was great. Only a single cup coffee pot in room! Boo! Within walking distance of stores and restaurants.

"none"
robertlU9629RL, 28 Novembre 2016

What do you want to say the hotel was OK. The parking lot was small and crowded and I drive a big pickup so parking was a bit of a problem and the elevator had a very strong cigarette odor. The evening wine and cheese was pleasant addition that was not available in other hotels.

"If you are sensitive to smell don't stay here"
MeinVancouver826, 14 Novembre 2016

This was generally a decent place to stay. Staff were nice, offered wine and cheese, adequate breakfast BUT the room smelled terrible. They use some kind of disgusting overpowering chemical deodorizer that never went away despite wide open patio door all night. The smell was so bad that it kept me awake. We travel a lot and this was by far the worst situation like this we've encountered. What are they trying to hide? What could be worse smelling than this?

"Never again"
tinyonthecoast, 14 Novembre 2016

I always stay at BW, But this one was really bad. First check in took way to long. And the noise on the property ALL NIGHT LONG !!! made it impossible to get any sleep. Heater was not working properly. For the rate we paid I was really disappointed.

"good, bad, ugly"
Moxiethebeagle, 11 Novembre 2016

Cement in stairwell filthy. Blood? Fingernail polish? On the sheet. Called about broken toilet but they did not fix it. Loud parking lot and people made sleep difficult. Great breakfast. Love the area.

"The most Friendly and fun staff! Xinhthi is THE BEST!"
meemawto3, 10 Novembre 2016

My husband, son and I spent Christmas here at the Best Western in Garberville. It was a last minute reservation as we were just traveling around NorCal and staying wherever we ended up in the evenings. Everything was great from the moment we checked in to the day we left. We were amazed at the dedication of the staff especially given that it was Christmas. Wine and Cheese hour was Fab! Such friendly ladies giving up their time to serve travelers. What a blessing! Great wine, cheese and conversation. We couldn't have asked for more. Special props to the lovely Xinhthi! She spent her Christmas serving ham, potatoes, veges, etc to all who showed. A free meal at that! I can't say enough wonderful things about her. What a sweetheart. The room was more than enough, with a nice little balcony to sit and stargaze. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning before heading out for an exhilarating hike, coming "home" to that wonderful wine and cheese hour(s). Although we traveled through San Fran, Monterey and Big Sur, my best memories of our trip was the BW in Garberville without a doubt. My only regret is not writing this review sooner. As Christmas approaches us again this year, I yearn to return. Maybe we will?

"over charge"
kellygF7703JC, 09 Novembre 2016

No wine and cheese greeting as they state! check in time at 4 pm but told me my room would not be ready until at least 5 pm and then they offered me a much lower price room that would be ready in 30 minutes but did not adjust the price accordingly. I never saw the wine and cheese greeting and never saw the breakfast room as well.....they lied about all of that!

"Really Wonderful Customer Service"
Bryan E, 04 Novembre 2016

The woman that checked us into our room was absolutely awesome. She provided us with a great bag of "goodies" for our dog that was staying with us and she had the "wine and cheese" room opened for us and another set of guests, even though it was way past the posted hours. Breakfast the next morning was great too. I will definitely be staying more nights at the Best Western.

"GOOD CHOICE IN A SMALL VILLAGE"
Howard P, 02 Novembre 2016

Located at the southern entrance to Humboldt Redwoods state park and the Avenue of the giants. Old but well maintained with a large room and decent bathroom. Bed was on the soft side but acceptable. Parking is outside the room,. Standard buffet breakfast included. Pool available. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recommend, Hope this helps.

"One night stop-over"
All4thegirls, 27 Octobre 2016

Spent one night here on our way up through the Redwoods and on to Oregon. The hotel property its self is nothing special but I have to say, they were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful at check in. The town itself was a bit querky. We pulled into town about dinner time and as soon as we got into town we notice a large population of folks that appeared to be transient. I remembered others mentioning it but still caught me a bit off-guard. Dining in town was the biggest trick. Everything was closed including the restaurant behind the hotel. We opted for a trip to the grocery store and ate in our room. Breakfast was decent, hot and a few options than the standard included breakfast fare. Dining room has a nice view of pool Where these guys won us over was when about 30 minutes after leaving I realized that I had forgotten my apple watch in the room. I figured there was a good chance that it was a goner, but no...housekeeping found it and turned it in immediately. Super impressed, and very thankful:) I doubt we will ever find ourselves back in the area but was very impressed with the honesty of the staff. Thanks!

"Favorite Family Hotel on 101"
TeamHovis, 26 Octobre 2016

We stayed in one of the family suites! Absolutely great place to stay with a family. Fantastic Pool - Amazing Breakfast - Super Friendly Staff and very spacious rooms for a rambunctious family! Great access to downtown Garberville as well. Very cool huge map of the Avenue of the Giants!

"Best Western in Garberville"
Ann B, 26 Octobre 2016

Nicest hotel in the Garberville-Redway area. Luxurious bedding and towels, good room set up, two sink areas for bathroom, excellent when travelling with two. Staff is warm and friendly. Hotel has a couple of nice perks, wine and cheese hour - good. Didn't use the comp breakfast feature.

"Great hotel & staff"
danielwaynes, 25 Octobre 2016

The staff were very accommodating given the high demand for hotel rooms after the closure of hwy 101 due to an oil tanker spill. Staff handled the overwhelming demand very well. We'd recommend this hotel based on great staff service.

"Great stop on the Redwood trail"
jawsinva, 21 Octobre 2016

Great location for anyone following the Redwood Forests up or down the coast. Right on Rt. 101 and convenient to everything. Small town with amenities available. Easy on and off and centrally located in the middle of town.

"ok"
Alexander A, 20 Octobre 2016

Good room, comfortable location, nice breakfast and the staff is very nice and helpful. On the bad side- there is a fire station nearby and the night we stayed there, a siren started working at 4 o'clock in the morning- it woke up everyone up to 3 miles away

"As expected"
User, 19 Octobre 2016

This was our second visit and it was as great as our last one. We stayed On the first floor this time. The room was very clean and everything worked well. The bed slept great after a 8.5 hour drive and the noise level was quiet, no interruption at all in our sleep. In the morning the breakfast was great, the food was hot and the cereal and breads fresh. Will definitely go back again

"Not just another room, but a destination"
Marcia I, 18 Octobre 2016

This motel experience is more than just a place to spend the night on your way - it is worthy of being your destination for a relaxing, enjoyable, restful stay for many days & nights! Hang out in the quiet, clean ample rooms & visit the local sites in this northern California town near some of the oldest & largest trees in the world.

"Redwoods"
James H, 16 Octobre 2016

It was very nice, we stayed 2 nights. The pool area was hard to get to and cloudy, but it was October. They have a lovely wine and cheese hour actually 2 hours. Marilyn the hostess was soon kind. Right next door is a pizza joint eat in or take out, it was good, no driving. Pet area was clean, not very big but enough to do their business, artificial grass which is washed off. Breakfast provided same as the others. Very nice helpful personnel. Stayed 2 nights to enjoy redwoods. Would recommend. Cost was a bit high, but we felt best value.

"Very average, they need some compitition"
uc4300, 15 Octobre 2016

Check in time was 4:00pm but could not get a room till shortly after 5:30pm. There were other couples that had been waiting for rooms for a couple of hours, The front desk staff that came in late afternoon went into overload mode. The wine and cheese area was nice and took some of the edge off while waiting for the room. The rooms were comfortable a quiet, but need to be updated. The rooms are probably on the lower part of the scale for a Best Western and the internet was a little slow. The breakfast there was good and very acceptable, and probably above average for a BW.

"Nice, friendly, clean hotel"
2013sylvia, 15 Octobre 2016

2 dogs 2 humans driving up to the Redwoods. We found the staff to be super nice. The rooms are clean, a good size. No grass for the dogs to do their business. They do have a fake grass area. They offered a wine and cheese in the evenings. Garberville is not a metropolis so it was sleep and get out.

"OK Room & Decent Breakfast"
Jason L, 14 Octobre 2016

Not bad but a little more than you'd expect for what you get. Being in the mountains lots of shiftless hippie style folks about between potheads and rock climbers. Stay away from the pizza joint behind the hotel as the stoner waitress will mess up your order and it is not good anyway.

"On the road, service is everything"
BillTago, 01 Octobre 2016

On the road, service is everything. Every staff member was polite and helpful. Rooms are dated but clean. The daily Wine & Cheese (FOC) welcome was a terrific chance to learn more about the area. Prices are reasonable; proximity to the redwoods (Avenue of the Giants) a plus. Pick a room looking out to trees (not to the parking lot).

"NOT CHEAP BUT WORTH IT"
Anon F, 01 Octobre 2016

The plug-ins for computer charging are loose. The house-keeping staff was so VERY kind in seeing I needed help with my bags, and pitched right in...she refused a "tip" but I figured it was because there would be an envelope in my room for this purpose. PLEASE REMEMBER THEM! BW: Do this; we're all in this together. af

"Severly lacking in customer care"
delfin1027, 30 Septembre 2016

Have stayed here prior to this recent trip, and will NOT do so again after this latest venture. As I travel most weeks of the year, I understand 'things happen' and not all days are best for any property, but when you have issues such as 'odor of smoke complaints' followed by 'ant infestation in the bathroom', you should as the proprietor take immediate action to resolve with as 'friendly, caring and understanding approach as possible'. This always would buy my sense of appreciation that they are doing what they can to remedy, vs being disenfranchised and uninterested. 'An ounce of sweetness....' produces much better results in customer care.

"Good Nights Sleep"
Karie J, 26 Septembre 2016

The beds were soooo comfortable. Clean rooms. Wonderful and friendly staff. The wine and cheese sampling in the evening was terrific. And the breakfast was very good also. I would certainly recommend.

"Loud and expensive"
Thomas H, 25 Septembre 2016

Room was dirty (wet carpet) and the area is very noisy, including certain guests. Some of the workers had the Diesel Pickup trucks running for ours in the early morning hours. I wonder how the price is related in any way to the facility...

"Disappointed"
Happy2Roam77, 22 Septembre 2016

We stayed here about 3 years ago and decided to stay again. Unfortunately, our stay wasn't as enjoyable before. Quality service was lacking at the front desk and at the breakfast room. The influx of transients has increased around the area of the hotel making it intimidating to walk around, especially at night. Lastly, housekeeping left our door unlocked after they cleaned, that when we came back from being gone all day, our door was wide open, putting our room and belongings at risk of being burglarized. I filed a written complaint, but never heard back. Unfortunately, we're not coming back.

"Convenient, comfortable stop-over"
travelhound2010, 17 Septembre 2016

We stayed here one night on our way back from hiking in the Redwoods. The room was lovely and clean. We appreciated the welcoming happy hour as well as the breakfast. This was a nice stop-over inn for a road trip. It seemed a little pricey for the town, but likely because there were not many hotels in the area.

"My stay at the humboldt House Best Western"
Carrie C, 16 Septembre 2016

The comfortable bed, the clean pool and jacuzzi and the wine and cheese hour in the garden room all were added and pleasant additions to an already lovely room and my stay at the Humboldt House Best Western was better than many of the hotel I have visited in the past years and I would urge all folks to spend a weekend here with these lovely people.

"Very Comfortable"
beaglex, 16 Septembre 2016

A great hotel near the Avenue of the Giants scenic drive. Our room was very big, especially the dressing area, and very clean. Wifi was easy to connect and no problems with it during our stay. As we were from overseas travelling with our phones and a iPad, (only had one adaptor) it would be good if the rooms had USB connections so we could recharge these at the same time. We thoroughly enjoyed the late afternoon complimentary wine and cheese provided in the dining hall. This is a great idea allowing other patrons to meet and talk and to wine down.

"Rest in the Redwoods"
Pat L, 15 Septembre 2016

This hotel is a great stop between Oregon and the Bay area. Lobby and guest rooms are tastefully appointed. Guest rooms have a refrigerator and coffee maker. Hotel grounds and pool area are nicely landscaped and we could enjoy them from our patio. There is an evening wine and cheese reception in a bright room overlooking the pool and grounds. Wide variety of cheese offered as well as snack mix. A friendly hostess welcomed all to the reception. Breakfast offerings were more than adequate and were tasty.

"Great, but."
James B, 14 Septembre 2016

Everything was great EXCEPT internet. Good rooms and amenities. Breakfast was best we've had in a long time at a motel. Patio door falling out of track. Absolute worst internet system I can remember. Hard to get on, VERY slow, kept dropping out. Had to give up trying to forward stuff.

"A Nostalgic Repeat Visit"
Barbara T, 11 Septembre 2016

I had stayed here several years ago and was looking forward to returning. I was not disappointed. The staff was excellent and set the tone for an enjoyable stay. Visiting the entire area of the northern Redwoods is an awesome experience worth repeating, and Garberville is such an integral part of it. I would stay here again at the Best Western if I ever come back through.

"Awful Customer Service"
sp12363, 09 Septembre 2016

The front desk service at this hotel is awful. The woman on duty this evening was unable to provide any useful assistance and was terribly unprofessional, refusing to share her name when it became clear that I was unhappy with the service I'd received. I'm not sure when it became acceptable to refuse to provide a name when you're in a customer service setting, except when you're quite positive that you'll be receiving an upset report to your manager.

"Best Western Humboldt County"
anamariag246, 09 Septembre 2016

I planned to take my mother, age 80, for a nice weekend trip to the Humboldt Redwood Forest. After reviewing the Best Western in Garberville, both reading the reviews and looking at the picture I decided this would be a nice place to stay. The $200.00/night stay seemed reasonable. However, after driving up to the front of the hotel (I was reminded of the Motel 6), I was immediately disappointed and wanted to cancel my reservation and drive the 4 hours back home (it was a holiday weekend and all other hotels were booked)

"Great hotel in the Redwoods "
Jroman5959, 05 Septembre 2016

We stopped in Garberville while heading to Oregon during the Labor day weekend. The front desk was friendly and helpful recommending a place for dinner. Our room was on the first floor but I didn't hear any noise from over head which is nice. The room had a small patio but also had a gate that led to the pool. The pool area was very nice, it really nice to drink my morning coffee & enjoy the weather in the morning sun. The room was nice average size for a motel of this age. There was a small frig & single serv coffee maker. My wife really enjoyed the soap and shampoo they provided. The breakfast was average nothing special. Overall I would recommend staying here.

"Best Best Western"
Construct37, 30 Août 2016

I've stayed at many Best Western locations around the states and this is certainly the best one. The room was huge and clean, the pool was heated with clean towels, the breakfast was awesome. I don't have anything bad to say about this place other than the town itself was full of some...interesting characters. Unfortunately we arrived later in the evening and missed the wine reception. Most everything in the town was closed as well so finding dinner was a challenge but the general store provided ample options.

"My stay"
Dennis D, 30 Août 2016

Everything was very good. the parking was cramped. Very near Hollywood which was our goal. Employees were very nice. I thought the price was high. but the location was perfect for what we wanted. Universal studios is 10 mins away, Hollywood strip was 4 blocks away.

"motel not hotel"
B8001LPmariaf, 30 Août 2016

Good for one night stay to see the Redwoods if everything else is booked, but that's it. Food was okay, pool was not heated, lots of overturn and not a lot of families. I think there are homeless people living there. Lots of transients. Did not feel safe. Staff was nice enough and rooms were clean enough. I would recommend another place if you can afford it, though it is still overpriced. Plus is that it's very close to Avenue of The Giants.

"Good experience"
Jsmtraveler, 22 Août 2016

The cheese and wine were a nice addition. There were also crackers, some snack mix and soft drinks. The room was fine but the AC was loud and hard to control. Breakfast was good with many options. The waffle maker needed some spray so it wouldn't stick - but I don't know if it was taken care of. For one night it was good.

"Could use some love."
pollywog3, 22 Août 2016

We just got through a 6 day road trips where we spent the night in 5 different Best Western Plus locations, so we've acquired a discerning taste. :) This was the least nice of all locations, the property is overdue for a remodel. The rooms felt old/tired and the jacuzzi was downright gross, with visible grey color to the bubbles and in the daylight it looked muddy. :( On the positive side, the breakfast had hot options which was nice. And they had a laundry facility which was a godsend after my 5 year old puked all over the car seat earlier that day. The staff let us keep it open late in order to get things situated.

"Overpriced, poor service, and dirty"
Susan J, 21 Août 2016

When I checked in they gave me a smoking room, but didn't say anything about it. When I said it smelled like people had been smoking in there they said they would put a note in my account so I wouldn't get charged. The smell was so pervasive that I didn't sleep well and was so congested in the night and morning. The bathroom sinks were dirty with hair from previous occupants (some longer hair, and lots of beard hair). My shower at night was cold (the next morning it was nice and warm). When I had gone after checking in to tell the front desk about the smoke they offered air freshener. I went with a more expensive option of hotel because I thought it would be nicer, but wish I would have gone with the cheaper option. When I checked out and they asked how my stay was I told the front desk, but she blamed it on Expedia where I booked through (I checked and it said non-smoking). Two opportunities to take care of me, and neither one chose to do so. They do have a continental breakfast with a lot of offerings.

"An okay hotel"
SeattleGina, 21 Août 2016

I am a top contributor on Trip Advisor, as I have said in several reviews I really wish TA would add half ratings to their reviews. I would give this hotel 3 1/2 stars if I could. I gave it a 4 because I didn't think it would be a fair review to drop it down to a 3. My top reason for my scoring is because this hotel is highly overpriced!! I paid nearly $200.00. Now, I normally would be okay with this if the hotel was located in a nice, bigger town/city and if it truly met the Best Western Plus standards. A BW Plus should always have bottled water in the rooms. It should also have a microwave. This one did not. Also the town is very sketchy and super small. They are a couple of gas stations and a few restaurants, but most close early. A BW in this town did not warrant a high price. I have stayed at BW Plus in small towns before and rooms typically range from $100 -$150.00 The room was clean, not exceptionally clean, but clean. There was a sink located outside of the bathroom as well as inside which is a "Plus" feature that I like. It had a nice pool area. The staff were friendly. The best feature of the hotel was the wine and cheese hour. I chose to stay at this hotel because we were on a rode trip though Northern CA with our main focus being Ave Of The Giants. This hotel is located just one city away from the entrance to Ave of The Giants. I also like Best Westerns a lot so thought it was a great choice. Considering what I paid I probably would have chosen another location possibly in the next town. We drove by small hotels that looked pretty nice. Although we did not go inside so cannot comment how they were inside in comparison. In Garberville there are not a lot of choices. I would say with outside appearance this hotel is the best choice in Garberville. Keep on Traveling!

"Best Plus"
bmurrup, 17 Août 2016

Garberville is a small town with not much to offer. So this hotel is a nice stop over to rest before traveling on. It is nice and close to the Avenue of the Giants which is why we choose to stay here. The pool is nice as is the wine / cheese evenings and I will add breakfast is nice too. I feel this earns the Plus after its name. The hotel in the summer is packed and I guess that is reason for higher prices. Being inland it is hot so don't expect the coastal breeze. Staff is professional at front desk too.

"Overpriced Boondocks Comfort"
John G, 15 Août 2016

Wonderful motel for physical features and room comfort. Inferior HVAC for price of room. Competent but not friendly/not unfriendly staff. Seriously overpriced because nothing comparable within 50 miles.

"Great hotel in the Redwood area"
elena a, 12 Août 2016

We stayed here for one night whilst travelling down the coast after seeing the Redwoods. Friendly staff, comfortable room and good breakfast. The kids enjoyed the pool. Garberville isn't that nice but that doesn't matter for a stop over. Had some nice pasta as a take-out from the Italian restaurant down the road. One thing was that the laundry room (which was very much appreciated - a nice plus) could have done with a clean. Would recommend.

"Hotel was fine - experience was terrible "
AmyGB123, 12 Août 2016

Hotel was clean and comfortable. It was very busy the night we stayed. First bad experience was the homeless people walking around hotel parking lot asking for rides and hand outs. Our hotel room said we had a view but all I could really see was the trees and pool. No mountains! Pool area seemed clean but was out of pool towels by 4pm. Our second bad experience. A family was smoking marijuana in the pool area. For a smoke free hotel and a public area this shouldn't be allowed. I had a hard time falling asleep because of the area the hotel was in. Doors were slamming still after midnight and kept hearing water running. Third bad experience was getting woken up at 4:30 am to a homeless person pulling the fire alarm. Shortly after that we looked out our patio to see this homeless person jump the pool fence and was walking around naked. Called the font desk to tell them, they checked it out and told the guy to leave. After hotel personal left the homeless guy, he was talking/ singing/ jumping into pool and hot tub/ throwing towels, trash and chairs into the pool. Called front desk again to tell them what he was doing-seemed like they didn't care but did say the cops were called. But the cops come from Eureka about 100 miles away. Not sure if cops came. After 45 mins of watching this guy make a mess of the pool area and walking around naked he finally jumped back over the fence and left the pool area. We took our showers, packed up and ate some breakfast. Breakfast area was so busy the hotel staff couldn't keep up with refilling things. I couldn't wait to check out and get out of there. (If coming from the city I would suggest leaving early go through the Avenue of Giants and stay in Eureka.)

"Nice enough..."
marionleem, 11 Août 2016

The hotel was fine but would not return to Garberville to stay. The hotel was older than we are used to and the rooms have not been updated in awhile. The only plus of this pass through town is a restaurant down the street called Cecils...nice surprise!

"The Only Nice Affordable Place in Town"
Dave F, 10 Août 2016

There just really aren't many good lodging options in the Garberville/Redway area unless you go completely deluxe (and pricey) and stay at the Benbow Inn. The Best Western is nice, clean, and has a good staff. They have complimentary wine in the afternoon and a pretty good free breakfast. It's an easy walk to Calico Cafe or Cecil's for dinner. It's what you expect from a well run Best Western.

"Quick stop over on our way to Sonoma/Napa wine country."
KristinTrevino, 09 Août 2016

Nice location close to the cute little town. They have a limo service to from town which is a nice added value. Our stay was only one night so we did not get to enjoy the pool or hot tub but they looked nice. We did get up and have the complimentary continental breakfast in the morning before continuing our drive south. The breakfast was okay with enough items to choose from to fill your tummy. Nothing extra special but satisfying. At dinner time we did walk over to the recommended restaurant (not owned by the property) which was next door. We choose not to eat there since it was very old diner looking which is not what we were wanting. Our choice was the local brew pub, Lost Coast Brew Pub. Typical brew pub offerings which were good and the beer was tasty too. Our hotel room was okay for a one night stay. It was very noisy all night and early morning since it is on a very busy street with semi trucks. I wasn't expecting anything luxurious since we just need an inexpensive place to rest our heads for only one night and this was sufficient. Plus it was an easy in and out location for our travels.

"Great experience at Humbolt"
Suzette J, 02 Août 2016

Our family traveled from San Fransisco to Humbolt House to meet our son. We needed a room for 3 adults and 2 children and this hotel was very comfortable and accomodating for an excellent price. The evening reception was such a pleasant treat after a few hours in the car and the breakfast was all very good and fresh. We would definitely stay here again.

"Family stay at Best Western PLUS Humboldt House Inn"
henelin, 27 Juillet 2016

We stayed in a suite at Best Western PLUS Humboldt House Inn and were not disappointed. The suite had three queen beds, two in the main room and a third in the additional room - perfect when travelling with your older parents.

"No too Bad"
hurleyblewett, 25 Juillet 2016

This was a good hotel in a great location. A very short drive to the valley of the giants at Humboldt. Staff was great and very accommodating. A very eclectic group of patrons (hippies dancing in the parking lot) and a very laid back town. Breakfast was the norm but the staff had everything well stocked. I liked it. Nice.

"Great place"
William L, 25 Juillet 2016

We have stayed at the Humboldt House Inn for years when traveling to or through Garberville. Best value in the area. The adults enjoy the wine and cheese each evening while the kids enjoy the pool. The complimentary breakfast may just be the best I have ever received at any of the places we have stayed .

"Quality hotel in a small town"
Karen C, 23 Juillet 2016

This hotel is first class in every way. Unusual to find such excellent accomadations in such a small town. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to other travelers. The breakfast room overlooked the pool and was very enjoyable.

"Great Motel!"
486BethH, 22 Juillet 2016

This motel doesn't look like much from the outside but the room was great! Very new looking and comfortable! Breakfast had the standard Best Western fare and a few extras like sausage and gravy over biscuits! Very close to Avenue of the Giants in Humbolt State Park. Garbarville is a cute quaint town!

"Best Breakfast around"
Brian M, 21 Juillet 2016

This place had a clean room with good beds and a balcony. The breakfast has so many chooses to pick from and all the food was great. We got there right around 10PM from a long day of hiking and driving. The employee was helpful but the parking was a little short due to construction workers taking more than 4 parking spots for one truck and trailer, but overall I would recommend this hotel.

"Only one available"
NewportBeach1952, 18 Juillet 2016

Online appeared to be nicest available hotel. Strong chemical smell in room. Nicely decorated. Breakfast so so. But it was a Best Western so my expectations shouldn't be high. Staff very nice. Bed comfortable. Bathroom clean good shower.

"Great stay"
Maureen S, 17 Juillet 2016

Staff very courteous. The woman that checked us in offered to call housekeeping to see if our room could be prepared quickly. I really appreciated this as it was a hot day. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.

"good experience"
Irwin D, 12 Juillet 2016

nice room, good breakfast-I would have liked more fresh fruits like cut up melons/berries, overall good experience, there were no problems at this motel. We stayed at several other Best Westerns on a recent trip which were not nice. This one was okay. The staff were nice and the room was clean.

"lovely premises"
dmc50, 05 Juillet 2016

this is a lovely hotel, nestled in a quaint little town. easy on and easy off highway 101. room was perfect, as was the bed, shower, decor, amenities. friendliness of staff was quite lacking during check in and check out process, and on the premises.

"A great place to relax after a lot of activities."
Gerald W, 03 Juillet 2016

When we were checked in I asked for a ground floor room ant they were very quick to accommodate. They also invited me to a wine and cheese party off the lobby to meet other guests. I asked for recommendations on a restaurant that would be part of the local flavor of the community but with excellent food and service. They hit the ball out of the park. The room was very spacious and clean. In the morning we had a quick breakfast at were given a list of Attractions we might be interested in. That was a real touch.

"Hotel okay. Garberville sketchy."
ILoveFerns, 02 Juillet 2016

If I travelled along 101 again, I would skip Garberville. We arrived at 7 and could find nowhere open for dinner. We ended up at the gas station and the little supermarket. There were lots of sketchy people milling about. There were many empty store fronts/restaurants. There was a place where you can get an espresso and a massage. There was a hemp connection store. It was not my kind of town, not family friendly or trendy. Run down. If you do stay, the Best Western is okay. The other people at the hotel were also travelers and families. The room was clean. The beds were okay. The continental breakfast had some choices, but was bland. The front desk employees were very nice. I felt safe in the hotel, but I thought the town was gross.

"Nice place to stay in Garberville"
Kimberly B, 30 Juin 2016

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. It looked like it had undergone a remodel fairly recently, everything in the lobby and our room looked pretty new. The room was comfortable and reasonably quiet. Breakfast was good, fresh waffles, pre-made omelettes, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. The desk staff was ok, not overly enthusiastic, but got us checked in and out just fine. My only real gripe is that there are not very many dinner choices in Garberville. There only seemed to be two bars and a cafe open in the evening. Since we were traveling with a child, that limited our options to the cafe.

"Terrific stay!"
woodsywoman, 27 Juin 2016

This hotel has everything you could want: comfortable bed, hot tub, swimming pool, free full breakfast, and it's clean and quiet. Everything was updated and the personnel were friendly. Ask for a quiet room away from traffic noise. This place was perfect for exploring the nearby redwoods. Would stay again!

"Happy find last minute"
630sharony, 27 Juin 2016

This was a great hotel find, and a bargain at the price!! It was very clean, convenient and the staff was all very friendly. I am so happy we found it last minute during our trip. We used hotels.com and booked it on the road, and I'm glad we did because they'd filled up by the time we got there.

"Decent hotel"
Wen650, 25 Juin 2016

Looks like it was remodeled. Decent room, nice evening wine and cheese receiption, nice hot breakfast. Hotel has pool and hot tub and close to the redwoods. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Area was ok, loud motorbike and some guests were loud, which was not the fault of the hotel. Hot water in shower was installed backwards, so the hot dial was cold water and vice versa. Good value for the money.

"Good choice"
Dion G, 22 Juin 2016

Very nice motel in the little town of Garberville, near the redwood parks of northern California. Excellent, helpful staff, very clean and a pleasant breakfast room highlight this motel. We were on a bike tour and appreciated the helpfulness of the entire staff.

"Decent place for an overnight stay"
Myflowergirls2, 20 Juin 2016

We stayed here as an overnight stop on our journey to view the Giant Redwoods. The staff upon check in was awesome. The woman who checked us in was so helpful. I do not remember her name but I do know it began with an X. She showed us how to find our room and gave us great recommendations for dinner. She was a highlight of our stay actually. The room itself was clean and quite. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good. I usually don't expect much from these but was pleased with what they offered. They had a nice selection and the area was kept clean and neat. There was plenty of seating as well. The town is cute and convenient and made this one night stop a pleasant addition to our trip. It isn't fancy but it is clean and affordable. They do have a pool and hot tub that looked great but we didn't have the time to check it out.

"Best place to stay for seeing the Redwoods!!!"
Steve M, 20 Juin 2016

this is really the only big chain hotel option in the areas of the redwoods (Humboldt County, CA). Very nice rooms, delightful and helpful staff, pool and on site laundry facilities, it has it ALL. I'll be back for sure.

"Great staff."
W5514WBcathyr, 11 Juin 2016

Our second stay and I will be back. The entire staff were very helpful, hotel was clean and comfortable with reasonable rates. Pool and hot tub were open during our visit and were well kept. They serve nice breakfast in morning with wine tasting and cheese in the evening. Well done!

"Best place to stay in Garberville"
Debra C, 09 Juin 2016

When we visit family in Garberville, we never have to decide where to stay. It is always the Humboldt House Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast is great because we are usually on the road shortly after breakfast. There is plenty to choose from and nobody should go away hungry. This time we got in early enough for the cheese and wine reception between 5:30 and 7:30pm. The staff are great and my Sister likes to use the computer in the lobby, while I use my laptop in the room. All the members in our party loved staying there and we are planning another trip for the Fall and plan to stay at BW Humboldt House again!

"Great experiance"
Paul C, 05 Juin 2016

There was three males in my group all brothers and we needed two queen beds minimum, this hotel had a room with three queen beds. It was very nice that we could all have a separate bed without having to get two rooms.

"It's fine"
Evelyn C, 04 Juin 2016

The pluses: complementary wine and cheese in the early evening. The breakfast buffet with seating overlooking the pool. Caring, friendly attendants in these venues. The attendant at the wine and cheese even suggested a tray with good it's to bring to my husband watching a basketball game in our room. The puzzling: why did it take a full minute for the receptionist to look up from her computer and acknowledge us? True, she was "finishing up" some work, but a nod and a smile go a long way in making someone feel welcome. Maybe some customer service training is in order. Then she gave us her "favorite room". It did have a balcony that overlooked a mountain (more like a hill) BEYOND the immediate parking lot and busy highway! Thankfully, remarkably, it was quiet, but there were (by appearance) more sheltered rooms and parking off the busy highway. Also, the ice machine looked downright nasty! A+ service from wine and cheese and breakfast attendants. D from the receptionist = an average rating. Too bad. Breakfast offered egg one lets in addition to the usual waffles, sausage, muffins, etc

"A great stopover!"
rjuricich, 30 Mai 2016

A very comfortable place to stay in Garberville. They offer a wine and cheese happy hour and a decent breakfast in the morning. The buildings are a bit older and show it a little, but the rooms were updated, clean and comfortable. We received an excellent dinner recommendation from the check in staff for Cecil's New Orleans Bistro and had a dinner that was outstanding. Hotel is located on the main strip in walking distance of dining and shopping.

"Nice Place to Stay!"
dosomething2, 26 Mai 2016

Stayed here one night with my family while visiting the redwoods and we enjoyed it. Our room was clean and spacious. The beds were OK, not the best I've slept on. The staff was nice and the free breakfast was adequate. It's in a perfect spot right off the highway.

"Great night"
User, 25 Mai 2016

Checked in around 9pm and found the room fantastic, clean, large but 2 queens. Would have preferred a king but not sure if they offer them. Breakfast was good and menu was larger than most. Will definitely look to stay there again if we are in the area.

"Incompetent staff, vagrants and no security"
PatriciaRescue, 23 Mai 2016

The room itself was nice, although it lacked a microwave. The hotel is in an unsecure lot, and there are vagrants all over the place. There is NO security. There is supposed to be a breakfast from 6-10am, but by 6:30 the place was dark, and so was the lobby. Doors locked. Called 0 from my room, it rang a few times then went dead. Two guys had been waiting for 30 minutes, the sign on the lobby said back in 5 minutes and it had been like that the whole time they were there, probably had been all night. The town is frightening. Vagrants all over the place, and some definitely need mental help. I will never stay there again. I stayed twice in 2 weeks, thinking that the first night was just a bad night, but the 2nd time was worse. For the price they charge, they should have microwaves and security. Shameful.

"Good value for the money"
msdlittle, 22 Mai 2016

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. Really enjoyed the amenities including the wine/cheese reception in the evening and hot breakfast in the morning. Patio access to the pool and hot tub were a nice perk!

"Redwoods"
Leon K, 22 Mai 2016

About 5 miles off of redwood highway and 101. Town is lost in the 60's. A few "hippies" and what appeared to be homeless people walking the streets but never felt threated or ill at ease. Hotel had very confortable beds. Room on second floor over looked the outdoor pool and hot tub. From 5:30 to 7:30 there was wine and cheese tasting.

"comfortable and nice for the cost"
Diane S, 21 Mai 2016

good location for seeing the redwoods, interesting shops in a small town, good farmer's market, easy walk to most restaurants and cafes, easy access parking, helpful staff; the only downside was a poor tv picture

"Nice Property"
Joe C, 20 Mai 2016

This property is larger than it appears at first. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was somewhat awkward with support and directions but, thankfully, this was corrected by a competent supervisor. Wine and cheese served in the evening and breakfast was good (real eggs and sausage).

"As good as can be expected in Garberville"
CalifBeachBum, 20 Mai 2016

We spent the late afternoon and night at the BW 'Humboldt House' in mid May 2016. The check in process was quick and pleasant w/ a friendly front desk carefully scrutinizing our ID and CC info. Our room smelled of sanitized, which was quickly neutralized by leaving both the entry and the patio doors open. The rooms are large and most have patios. The two main wings face the main road through town and highway 101 so road noise is an issue. The other wing faces the alley and is probably quieter, but most likely has a lesser view. The early evening wine and cheese event in the Garden Room is pleasant and the hostess is very attentive. The breakfast service is quick and easy with a nice selection of yogurt, fruit and juice. The biscuits were cold, but the gravy was hot. The property is separated into three 'wings' w/ an alley separating the main two wings by an alley. this alley seems to be a main thoroughfare for local foot traffic. The main ice machine for our wings is right off the alley and I was disappointed to have to stand in line for ice behind a homeless guy. A room key is required for ice, but the homeless seem to have found a work-around as there was another homeless guy filling trash bags w/ ice the next morning while hotel staff passed w/out interaction.

"Redwood Accomodation"
laurenceb721, 17 Mai 2016

If you are ever visiting the Californian Redwoods in the avenue of Giants this is the place to stay. It is about 6 miles from the start of the Avenue so does not require the early start from other towns. Freindly and welcoming staff and an interesting chat with a Cherikee Indian serving the wine and cheese. Relaxing and comfortable with a wine and cheese reception to greet you in the early evening.

"Taking advantage"
Michael H, 16 Mai 2016

This hotel took advantage of a graduation to charge double the rate. This is not a $245 hotel room or establishment. The breakfast was substandard. They should be ashamed for charging so much for this cheap room. Shame on you Best Western!

"To Be Avoided"
bpet2, 16 Mai 2016

I booked this hotel because almost everything else was full due to commencement at Humboldt State university. The hotel is located in Garberville which seems to be popular with transient people. Took a stroll through the main street in the evening and I don't think I met a single resident or tourist, but I probably saw 20 homeless people. The hotel room was OK, but the bed covers were very heavy and warm and almost impossible to sleep under. My second night was spent trying to get the next room guests to stop a very loud conversation that lasted until early morning hours.

"Nice Place to stay - near Ave of the Giants"
virginiam31, 03 Mai 2016

I booked this hotel because of it's proximity to Ave of the Giants for my first marathon. There was a group of us staying here. there are decent restaurants nearby. we had pre race dinner at Amelias and post race at Caliscos (sp). The wine and cheese reception in the evening was a treat. The breakfast buffet was good. Our room was very nice and bed extremely comfy

"Avenue of the Giants"
Ella S, 02 Mai 2016

My family stayed at this hotel for the Avenue of the Giants half marathon in May. This hotel was exceptional. The location was great and as we were coming from the South, it was perfect for heading towards the race. There is a really cool Avenue of the Giants mural in the parking lot of the hotel so be sure to check that out. Every room had a balcony and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The proximity to the small town of Garberville was nice as we could walk to the grocery store, food, or ice cream. I definitely recommend this Best Western if you need to be in the area or are visiting the beautiful redwood groves.

"Staff are very welcoming, good breakfast choices"
Wendy C, 02 Mai 2016

The staff are very welcoming. I called was answer by the staff! These days, it is very rare that a person greet you at the first ring. They are very nice in answering your question. We went there for a marathon race, the check out time is very limited. Although they try to accommodate the runner request for showers before we hit the road, 2 showers for everyone is a looong wait!

"My trip to Garberville for the Cannabis Film Festival"
Milton C, 26 Avril 2016

Had a great time in Garberville, Humboldt County! The Great Western is well-situated in Garberville and the staff was very helpful when there was an issue with using a third party credit card number. Also, the complimentary breakfast that comes with your stay was above and beyond any complimentary breakfast I'd had before during a hotel stay.

"NIce hotel. Be careful of billing"
Jason R, 25 Avril 2016

Check your credit card statements. I thought i reserved a room with my corporate card only to find out that when i entered online was not charged. I went to check out and they ran my personal card i had for incidentals.

"The high spot in Garberville"
RuthCuritiba_Brazil, 23 Avril 2016

Stay here if you have to stay in Garberville. Neat, modern amenities, nice pool for the kids, great breakfast. A pleasant surprise. It's the only good hotel on this stretch of highway so if you end up here for the night, you'll be happy. Town has very little in terms of restaurants and nothing else in terms of activities. It's close to red wood forest attractions on the 101.

"Great Place to stay"
Carol P, 18 Avril 2016

The rooms were clean and modern. We had a nice balcony to hang out on. The breakfast room was amazing. I was expecting muffins, juice and coffee. They had omelets, sausage, varieties of muffins, a great waffle maker with two flavors, cereal, yogurt etc. Easy check-in and check-out. We took our dog and they had a special bag of goodies for him. It was a great stay.

"Awesome Hotel Experience"
Sue H, 18 Avril 2016

On a road trip from Mexico to Canada we happened upon this Best Western and it was the best stay of our travels. Awesome service, beautiful rooms, lovely pool and delicious, hearty breakfast! Genuine friendliness from the staff to welcome us for the night and again when we departed in the morning. Next road trip to California will definitely incude Humboldt House Inn.

"Keeps getting better"
brianvanek, 15 Avril 2016

At times front desk could be better staffed, breakfast is great, rooms are large and up to date, the hotel itself is kept in great shape great place to stay to explore the redwoods. We ate dinner at the Italian reasraunt behind the hotel, service and food were great.

"Area is a bit sketchy, but ok if you need to stay overnight"
Kimberly C, 09 Avril 2016

I would say pricewise for the area, this hotel is midway between the more expensive Benbow Historic Inn and smaller motels. Although, I feel that the price is a little high for what you get. We stayed here for one night because it was the most convenient for our trip. It is right before the Avenue of Giants, which was a good starting point for the next day's adventure. I would have just kept driving if that wasn't for that. For a small town, it is a pretty sketchy area. First thing I noticed was the amount of homeless people by the freeway exit and around the hotel area. It was such a random thing to see for a small town in the middle of a forest area. The sheriff station is kitty corner to the hotel, if that helps you feel better. Note that there are no security camera around the hotel, so don't leave anything valuable in your car. When checking in, the lady at the front desk had a nice demeanor, but was not as thorough or informative compared to the front desk personnel at the two Best Westerns we stayed the nights before. It was just small things like not directing us on where the room was, and not mentioning the time or place of the breakfast. The room was okay. There were ants here and there on the desk and bathroom counters, but no trail of them. They were probably on the floor also, but hard to see with the low lighting and dark carpets. There were also a few flying insect in the room also. The internet was sufficient. The A/C worked, but the thermostat was not very sensitive. The A/C had to be set to the lowest temperature to turn on. Also, if you are a light sleeper, earplugs should do the trick for the extra noises (showers turning on, stompy feet, loud voices etc.). The breakfast was alright, about what you would expect. Overall, if you have to stop over in the area, it's fine, just don't have high expectations.

"Gorgeous Mountain Views - Quiet Retreat"
Positive_M, 09 Avril 2016

Excellent staff and some beautiful mountain views. Misty mountain in the early morning hours. Small, quiet town. Close to so many amazing sites within 30 minute drive from this location. Avenue of the Giants was breathtaking. Would definitely stay a this location again and again.

"Best Hotel in town"
Joan H, 08 Avril 2016

The Best Western is the best hotel in the small town of Garberville. The rooms are clean and the colors are soothing. Close to all the shops in town for walking around. The Free breakfast was fine, lots of varieties of breakfast foods. Coffee in the room was good. The internet was excellent which its very important if you work while on the road.

"Good place to start"
Pete W, 07 Avril 2016

Good place to start to view the Avenue of the Redwoods. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious for the price. The morning breakfast was better than the average grab and go. There are some local restaurants near by.

"Best Value in Garberville"
Sarah L, 04 Avril 2016

I had the best experience at this hotel over my birthday (March 23-25)! Check in went very smoothly, and I was even given a cute little welcome package for my dog. The room was surer clean, and pretty big, I reserved the 2 queen standard, and it over looked the pool area and had a nice balcony to sit on and enjoy the sunset. Everything was super clean, and the beds were VERY comfortable. There were toiletries from Bath and Body Works provided, as well as free wi-fi. There is no room service, but there is a restaurant in the adjoining parking lot that will deliver to your room, and a menu is provided in the Welcome binder. There was free wine and cheese served each night from 5-7PM (Marilynn is the best server), and a pretty decent hot breakfast served each morning. The breakfast included a waffle bar and biscuits & gravy, as well as some "omelets" and other assorted grab and go items. I have seen some complaints about the hotel being close to the main street - but it's Garberville, pretty much everything was closed down by 11PM, and the entire town silent (maybe cause I was there on weekdays?). I slept both nights with the sliding glass door open to let in the breeze, and did not have any issues. Hot tub was open and very clean for my stay, as well as the pool - but be warned, the pool is only heated from May-August, and it was COLD when I was there - but the hot tub was super relaxing after a day of site seeing! I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay if you are visiting the redwoods. It is only minutes from some local attractions, 10 mins from Avenue of the Giants, and about an hour from Eureka. I have photos too - if I can get them to load :)

"BIG YUCK!"
donnaathome, 02 Avril 2016

Nice room. Nice hotel until one of the kitchen hosts was cleaning the tables where we are having breakfast, dropped the rag on the floor, picked it up and continued cleaning the tables. BIG YUCK. Makes you wonder how they clean the bathrooms.

"Keep driving. "
JessayD, 01 Avril 2016

If this is he best garberville has to offer, keep driving. We checked into our room, only to discover some guy rooting around in the trash an outside while drinking beer. The entire area is dirty and shady. The rooms are dirty and dark. There is a slider to the outside, which given try location, only increased my unease. We promptly tried to checkout buy were told that it's too late. So we paid $200 for nothing. I did not feel safe staying here with my two daughters. Instead we drove further in search of a more safe looking facility.

"Weak Wi-Fi"
worldtraveler267, 31 Mars 2016

This Best Western has some of the largest rooms I have ever stayed in. They are also very clean and modern, and the furniture is scratch-free. The beds are very comfortable and come with more than enough pillows. The Wi-Fi, however, is very weak and was hard for my electronic devices to receive the signal. There was complimentary breakfast, and it was very delicious. The staff at the front desk was very friendly, and we're not rude to me at all. I think it is the best place to stay in the area, and I definitely recommend it.

"Super place to stay in the Redwoods"
Eric L, 31 Mars 2016

I love the Humboldt House. I stay there every time when passing through - a few times a year, by bicycle. I have mailed supplies there or left bags a day early to pick up and resupply while riding through and staff has always been super accommodating, even mailing stuff out (postage pre-paid) for me. Super clean and comfortable and very good breakfast to start the next 200 mile day! Thanks BW

"Clean, modern, and friendly staff!"
deejay40, 31 Mars 2016

Due to remoteness of location, not much by way of food available late night if checking in late. There is a vending machine with decent selcetion of snacks, and when seen scanning my options, a staffmember offered directions to a grocery store in the next town. After buying a few dinner items that required heating, the staff again allowed me to use the microwave in the breakfast hall. Great service here. The property itself is clean, well-maintained, and modern. the South Entrance to the Ave of the Giants is just a short drive north from here. Chandelier Tree is south, so you are in the middle of both attractions. My daughter loved the mini road trip from SF.

"Excellent Stay!"
Sherry K, 28 Mars 2016

We were greeted by a very friendly desk clerk who was very helpful. The room was very clean and roomy with a very large vanity! It was a quiet location and the beds were very comfortable, so we were able to get quality rest. Would definitely stay here again!

"Decent all the way around"
beernu, 26 Mars 2016

We needed a place to rest after a long day of driving through the Redwood Forrest so we decided to return to this place. Again, it was great. The beds were comfortable and the room was quite spacious and clean. The manager welcome (wine & cheese... sodas for the kids) was a welcome delight and the breakfast in the morning was what we needed to get us on our way again. We'll be going back there next time we drive through.

"Nice BW in the "town that doesn't give a ----""
hameda223, 25 Mars 2016

Garberville is a "town that doesn't give a f---". Literally no one cares about anything and the people are free birds. We are seriously considering packing up and looking to retire here....oh The BW was great. There were some tweakers standing around at night but they bothered no one

"Good place to stay"
mae710, 20 Mars 2016

This is your best choice in Garberville, I think. Hot tub was up and running. Nice breakfast foods served in the morning. And wine and cheese time for happy hour. Rooms were average but clean and nice with comfy beds.

"This is your choice for Garberville"
wishfrog, 12 Mars 2016

When Humboldt County roads give you lemons--or slides across the highway--and you are in Garberville, this is your place. Really nice rooms, pool/hot tub, surprisingly quiet (and the place was full the night we were there). Staff is typical for the area, just be patient, all will get done. Typical motel breakfast in the mornings.

"Need more Front Desk Assistance"
Ashleyreneescales, 26 Février 2016

We checked in at 9pm at night and it took longer than any other check in. The front desk assistant (only 1 person,) was handling a lengthy phone call, sending and receiving faxes, all while trying to check us in! And when we went to check out the next morning there was still only 1 front desk assistant. There was a line and check out also took forever.

"Passing through..."
KristenMike, 21 Février 2016

Despite having accidentally been assigned a reserved room upon arrival, the rest of our stay at this hotel was pleasant. The rates do seem a bit inflated but so is everything else you purchase in the area! The room was very well maintained and clean and the Bath & Body Works products provided were appreciated. The nightly wine and cheese reception was a nice touch and added bonus! It was too cold during our visit to enjoy the pool and hot tub but it did look well kept and inviting. If we could make a couple of suggestions it'd be to (1) replace the sheets - they're a bit worn out, and (2) remove the plants from the sun room in the breakfast area - pretty sure they're the source of the fruitfly-type bugs you see flying around the tables which do become a bit bothersome while you're eating.

"Poorly Managed Hotel"
Graem C, 19 Février 2016

One of two hotels in the middle of nowhere...little incentive for them to try very hard....Avoid and stay in a hotel north of the State Park. On an 8,000 mile road trip, this was by far the worst hotel we stayed in. If management did their job properly then this could get fixed

"Best Place to Stay in Garberville"
Rich N, 19 Février 2016

Best Western in Garberville is the place to stay while visiting the Redwood Country. Very clean and well kept rooms. Quiet with a very professional staff. Enjoyed the free breakfast and wine and cheese bar. Very good overall experience. Thank you

"great place to stay"
BKFLMAN, 16 Février 2016

I find Best Western my favorite motel to stay at. The Garberville location is central located and continental breakfast is a nice feature. The Staff is friendly and attentive to customer needs. Great place to stay

"Probably best deal in the area"
A9987TCdavidw, 14 Février 2016

A little expensive for what you get. But friendly to pets, clean room (other than ants and some other crawling bug that got into our food almost instantly). Breakfast decent for what these are usually like. Quiet. Parking challenging when busy. Good location in town. Reasonable compromise between expensive Benbow Inn and cruddy Garberville Motel.

"better than my expectation"
Paul L, 14 Février 2016

complimentary wine and cheese in the evening is very good near to highway a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper if you are a Costco member, they give you 10% discount but it's better to book in advance instead of walk-in

"personal"
Carrie C, 11 Février 2016

We would highly reccomend the Beest Western Humboldt House Inn, in Garberville, California as a highly attrctive, clean and friendly place to vacation or simply spend the night! We especially enjoy the swimming pool. The attitude of being 'dog friendly,' is a huge plus for us and we appreciate the accomodations made for them! Carrie Conine

"Garberville Best"
Cynthia S, 08 Février 2016

Front desk very helpful with our reservation. Nice rooms...didnt have an offensive smell. Very large rooms and bathrooms were large and well equipped. Great breakfast included in rate. Waffles, hot eggs, sausage fruit etc. Nice glassed in room to eat it in. Beds were nice not to soft and not too hard. We were on the second floor would have been nice to have an elevator. Overall a nice Best Western. I would stay again..

"Well worth visiting and staying!"
CarlosandGigi, 03 Février 2016

Wine and cheese upon arriving! Great friendly service. Tricia Culbert was wonderfully helpful, Donna, Marilyn.....we were very grateful after driving for many hours to find a place comfortable, quiet, very clean, very friendly and unusually well appointed! Cost was reasonable ($123). We stayed at room # 228. They accepted my Service dog and gave me a little "welcome" present for her which was very appreciated. We will return to visit them without hesitation and I will recommend this Hotel to all my friends and acquaintances. Service was excellent!

"The best local option for the location"
candyichiban, 23 Janvier 2016

Pros: Very spacious room, extremely friendly staff, accepts pets, located on the main strip of the town, right off the highway (easy access), free/ample outdoor parking in the lot, decent bathroom amenities for a motel, our room had a balcony. Cons: We were in a non-smoking room but it smelled smoky (either it used to be a smoking room or past guests didn't adhere to the rules), the interior decor of the rooms are in decent condition but are dated, not very sound proof through the door (walls are fine). I've stayed at many hotels around the world and this is by all means an average motel. However, it's probably the best you can find in this small town that's in the middle of nowhere. Having said that, if I were to visit this town again, I would also probably stay here again (all the other places seem worse).

"Not the best"
User, 11 Janvier 2016

Had difficulty at check-in where my pre-paid reservation (via hotels.com) had apparently been cancelled and I would need to pay again to secure a room. After insisting it was valid and showing current reservation status via an app and printout the reservation was found on the system. It seemed to be a system problem (wrong button pressed) and the check-in staff were very apologetic once they realised it was their error but it wasn't a great start. Room itself was nice, big and well appointed but noise kept us up due to other guests drinking and talking loudly in the heated spa until 1am, despite the pool area "closing" at 10pm. A call to the front desk to complain about the noise at 11pm (first time we've ever complained about noise in a hotel) saw the security guard enter the pool area, speak to the guests, shake their hands and leave. Absolutely no change in noise until they eventually left at 1am so no sleep for us. Breakfast was pretty average but it was free. Couldn't recommend it unfortunately.

"NO SECURITY"
Kelly F, 10 Janvier 2016

stay at your own risk ...My car was broke into while i slept It was pouring down rain when I arrived so I left the Christmas Gifts that I brought for my grand-kids in the dry car.. I was unaware the place had NO Cameras NO security at all... and little if any compassion from the management.

"Good (and only) place to stay."
Vivien H, 10 Janvier 2016

Great staff, great breakfast, too many people out at all hours of the night, making noise, BUT, that's not the hotel's fault. Everything else is wonderful. Stayed in room 320, newly painted, etc. This is a pot-smoking town-- can't get away from it, but the hotel is safe and there's a great pizza restaurant just behind the parking lot.

"Great value for money"
Hilde Janne S, 04 Janvier 2016

Had not booked prior to arrival. Got large comfortable bed in spacious room. Complimentary wine and cheese at 5 pm a nice touch, as was American breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff. Did not try heated outdoor pool and hottub, which was quite popular from what we understood.

"Great breakfast!"
Mel M, 04 Janvier 2016

Very friendly welcome and the receptionist lady, Xinh, loves her job.and made me laugh. (After a long days drive she cheered me up! with her infectious humor) The breakfast had so much to offer and was so good that we had to leave a tip! The hotel is in a very quint town with beautiful green trees in the mountains.

"Great Value and Great Service"
740jackiej, 03 Janvier 2016

While visiting the Redwoods area with my family, we stayed at the BWP in Garberville. The price for the two rooms we got was a great value, the complimentary happy hour allowed us to unwind from the drive and to spend quality time together. The complementary breakfast was both nutritious and satisfying, allowing us the fuel we needed for a day of hiking in the woods.

"Decent hotel for a decent price"
Wendy M G, 30 Décembre 2015

The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. There was a spa there which I would love to have used if I had brought a suit, but that is not a common amenity in the local hotels here so I recommend it.

"Garberville - BW Plus"
yateeshk, 30 Décembre 2015

Our late night check-in was easy. Comfortable and clean Room. The kids enjoyed the morning mountain view. Breakfast is simple but can be made better. The hotel is located on the main strip making it easy to take a stroll of the town center in the evening.

"Not the Garberville I remember.."
Ken F, 29 Décembre 2015

As many have already stated, the hotel is great, the neighborhood not so much.. Traveling up the coast after visiting family for Christmas, Garberville was the first town we came to once it got dark and foggy. I checked my TripAdvisor app and saw that the Best Western got good reviews. When we arrived it appeared that everyone dove into the Best Western once it got dark. There were eight people in line at check in when we entered the lobby. We waited better than a half hour to reach the counter. I would imagine this happens on a nightly basis. It would seem prudent to have the hotel manager assist the two receptionists with checking people in during this busy time. As has been stated before. The rooms were very nice and clean.. Shower had incredible pressure and the room itself was plenty quiet. The downside was all the young people that were loitering around the hotel and general area. I was seriously concerned about leaving my car in the parking lot. To the hotel's credit they did have a security guard who seemed to keep things under control throughout the night. Societal issues aside, Garberville seems to be decaying. It is located in one of the most beautiful places on earth but instead of a first class resort town it looks like a skid row. I hope the city/county can find a way to bring this gem in the Redwoods back to its glory days.

"An Oasis, of sorts"
MsXina, 29 Décembre 2015

I definitely recommend this property. Sadly, a bad economy and drugs have made their mark here as with many rural areas. Not just Garberville but up and down 101, and into southern Oregon. We decided to stay in Garberville at The Best Western Plus because we knew Eureka, being bigger, had more vagrants and the Best Western, Garberville looked clean and orderly and indeed it is. When we found out a night watchman patrols the parking lot, we were sold. Local police & fire are nearby. We only encountered one pan-handler the following a.m. Good stuff: The free wine & cheese in the evening was a nice touch, as well as the complimentary breakfast. For dinner, we went to the Chevron gas station, where there's a taqueria and ordered some yummy burritos to take back to our room, which was comfortable and clean. Friendly staff but I didn't appreciate being signed up for the Best Western Rewards program without first being asked. That bit of sneakiness was no bueno but yes, do stay here, especially, if you're road-weary, it's a long way to anywhere else.

"Huge rooms"
Jollywomon, 29 Décembre 2015

This hotel has been upgraded and the rooms are huge. The grounds are nice. It is pet friendly but the pet area could be bigger. The gal at check in was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was better than most other Best Westerns. It included omlets and sausage patties.

"Very Nice"
NC_Scooting, 18 Décembre 2015

Friendly folks at check in. Very nice room with 2 queen beds. Clean and comfy. Wine and cheese at 5:30. A small balcony overlooks some redwoods. Not luxury but close. It is right in town so dining is easily walkable.

"Great hotel, questionable town"
genelary, 18 Décembre 2015

We spent the night here on our way back down to the Sonoma area after visiting Crater Lake. First let me say that the Humboldt House Inn was outstanding. The room was clean and comfortable, with a great evening happy hour and hot breakfast in the morning. My concern is with Garberville and the entire Redwood Highway. The highway is lined with hitch hikers, as are the streets of Garberville. While going to get coffee in the breakfast room in the morning, I had someone sneak in behind me. I later saw him sitting on the curb eating his waffles. My advice is to skip the Garberville area altogether, and pass through during the day time. What a huge disappointment.

"Great room and service"
Dixie M, 05 Décembre 2015

This hotel provided a wonderful room with lots of nice extras such as two sinks with one in a separate room. The service was great at the front desk and all employees were pleasant and enjoyable. The hotel was also dog friendly which is very important to us as we travel with our dog.

"Very rude receptionist!"
Francislol, 30 Novembre 2015

This is the worst experience I have ever had with Best Western and Priceline. We arrived around 10PM and this front desk lady told us we had to stay in a one queen bed room. I asked if we could have two queens/standards room and she said it was sold out. So the couple behind us said they didn't mind taking a queen bed room and swapping with us since they reserved a two queens room. This front desk lady was very rude and seemed not happy about their offering. She didn't want to do that and treated us like secondarily important customers since we booked our room from "some third party website" not "their official website". Excuse me? You haven't even heard of Priceline? Are you kidding me? I called customer service at Priceline and didn't help much. They ended up offering a roller for additional $20, making the total cost higher than booking directly from expedia. I have never had any issue with the room assignment in all my previous bookings with Priceline. But this is the only time and the last time. I will never use Priceline again since we are not as "important" as other customers.

"Good food included upon arrival and departure"
GoodKarmaTraveler, 26 Novembre 2015

Wine, cheese, crackers, grapes upon arrival. Impressive. Hotel next door to an Italian restaurant. Bed comfy. Internet not so good in room. Breakfast better than in comparable hotels. Room large, quiet, comfy, clean.

"one of the better experiences"
BlueHeronInnFlorence, 24 Novembre 2015

Pleasant experience. Comfortable rooms with bath layout that allows one to get ready without waking partner. Double sinks was a plus. Wine and cheese in the afternoon was more than expected and breakfast was one of the best! Will definately be back.

"Humbold House Best Western, Garberville CA"
Joseph R, 21 Novembre 2015

I have stayed in this hotel for years and it is the only nice place anywhere near Garberville. Rates increase about 50% during marijuana harvest. I was surprised by a hard matress in the back wing and a bad shower diverter, giving luke warm water as I have always been very satisfied with this place. Overall, I rate it excellent for the area. All other motels nearyby are old and shabby in comparison.

"We decided to pass on by."
Mmher, 21 Novembre 2015

Ok probably not a fair review since we drove up and left. We had to turn around behind the hotel and the entire parking lot was filled with sketchy looking people and some neon lights blaring from the venue behind the hotel. We drove around to the front of the hotel and there stood some creepy guy with a white undershirt and gold chains draped around his neck overlooking the railing and smoking. It was dark, it was sketchy there were people in trenchcoats coming out of the shadows. Seriously gave us the creeps. The hotel itself might be nice but we sure did not feel comfortable with the idea of getting out of our car. Bye Bye Garberville. And BTW, just south of Garberville is a Union 76 gas station. DO NOT stop! weird stuff in the mens restroom. And grafitti that makes south central LA look tame in the both the men's and women's bathrooms. And I don;t think they clean them either............Another creepy place. Is this Humboldt County CA??

"Friendly and exceptionally clean"
Judy K, 19 Novembre 2015

This is one of the best motels that we have ever stayed at. From 5:30 to 7:30 they have complimentary wine and cheese. What a surprise. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are ultimate clean and the beds are awesome.

"Comfortable night while on the road."
dianeslade, 19 Novembre 2015

We stayed here during a recent northwest road trip two different times. Our room was newly renovated, attractive, very clean and comfortable; much appreciated after a day of driving. The price is very reasonable especially since breakfast is included. We have stayed here before and find the Garberville culture more interesting rather than threatening as others have stated; after all isn't that the adventure of travel? While waiting forever for food at the nearby italian restaurant we met another traveling couple and had a wonderful evening sharing stories. While traveling be curious and enjoy the journey!

"quiet night"
demantus, 16 Novembre 2015

Even though the motel was full of weekend guests I had a wonderful undisturbed night of sleep! The bed was comfortable and the internet fast and easily available. The parking lot was a bit tight, but we finally got our truck parked.

"Temporarily Humboldt County"
Tim C, 14 Novembre 2015

Fun trip to visit the Redwoods was made very convenient with our stay at the Humboldt House. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location is great to start a day trip through Avenue of the Giants. We were deciding between the hotel and more rustic and coming in the evening were very glad we chose the convenience of the Humboldt House.

"Nicest hotel in town of Garberville"
SanFranciscoKaycey, 12 Novembre 2015

Of the hotels/motels I looked at within the town limits of Garberville, BW is definitely the nicest. I didn't have a reservation and although I got there late on a Friday night, they had a King room in the back. And King it was. I think it's the largest King room I've ever been in - almost a suite. It was clean and the bed was comfortable although pillows were extremely soft. They have a nice happy hour with several cheeses and two wines. There are not many restaurants in Gville so this makes a nice appetizer. Breakfast in the am was ample - eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, apple/orange juice, coffee, fruit - to prepare for driving and walking through the Redwoods.

"thank you"

We have always enjoyed our stay at the Humboldt House Best Western Hotel in Garberville. It is a welcome change, from the tasteful decor and cleanliness of the rooms, to the evenning wine and cheese offered by the friendly host who served us. The evenning use of the just perfect temperature of the soothing hot tub was a lovely end to a delightful stay. The accomodation of children has always been an added attribute to our choice of The Humboldt House Best Western and we appreciate this immensely. Again, we thank you Mr. and Mrs Jim Johnson and your lovely staff. Carrie Conine

A lot of people are giving this hotel bad reviews based on the town it's in rather than the hotel itself. Neither are fair. First up, Garberville is a small town with a lot of folk hitching, smoking and hanging out. They are not criminals or bad people, they are just choosing an alternative way of living and my wife and I found them very pleasant to talk with and share a pizza and a beer. Put your prejudice aside before coming to these parts and enjoy the different way of doing things. As for the hotel, could not be faulted at all. Good pool, rooms big with all the required facilities. The wine and cheese offer is super in the evenings and the breakfast does the job. Also the pizza place behind the hotel does great pizza, rough and ready it may be but quality cannot be messed with.

"Okay place to stay but the area is not geat"
Laurie G, 04 Novembre 2015

The hotel itself is fine. The location for the redwoods Avenue of the Giants is great. We stayed here once before a year ago and I found the hotel to be okay enough that I chose to stay again. The place was clean and our room was large. The problem isn't the hotel but the area is over run with travelers and/or homeless people just hanging out everywhere. My friends and I walked to the grocery store 3 blocks away and chose to walk through an alley to avoid a big group of these people. I'm also pretty sure that we got a contact high just from that walk. I'm not opposed to pot but I don't choose to partake in it and that town smells like it showers in it. There were some of those folks in the lobby when we were checking in and they smelled so bad that my husband was ready to throw up. I don't know what else is available in the area but next time I'm down that way I'll be looking.

"Seedy and weedy location"

We stayed 2 nights on our visit to Humboldt state park. The hotel itself is not very different from what is expected of a Best Western. Room was nice with pool/mountain view and a balcony. I typically read tripadvisor reviews before booking but in this case I booked without reading reviews and it bombed. Cons: - Garberville is homeless central, they are everywhere including in hotel parking lot at night and the 2nd floor corridor - The privilege of having morning breakfast with the homeless. Yes they just follow you into the restaraunt and no one cares. Some just barge in and take way plates stuffed with food. One guy said he works in local fast food reataraunt and took away plate full of omlettes and sausages at 8 am (not leftovers). Oh and by the way, breakfast is served with paper plates and plastic cutlery. For a room that costs $175 per night you would expect more. - Smell of weed smoke is common - Very limited restaraunt options to eat out. We tried woodrose cafe for breakfast, humboldt bar & grill for dinner and flavors for coffee. They were good but homeless were hanging out on the streets everywhere, which made it an awkward experience. Pros: -Close to Humboldt state park, Avenue of giants. -The room was nice, with good views. I would recommend to avoid Garberville.

"Safety an Issue"
Dara F, 23 Octobre 2015

Due to the number of people who appeared to be on drugs and a person knocking on my door stating he was security when there were no security officers, I felt very unsafe at this hotel. The doors open up into the street allowing people walking by to bother you which is a problem as there appears to be a serious drug/homelessness issue in the town.

"Wow! Really!"
jnlwht, 17 Octobre 2015

Tried to make a reservation over the phone and the lady didn't want to take my number and call me back or anything. She just said she was to busy to help me. My feelings is they don't care very much bout their customers. The town is completely over run with homeless so it's just as well, we stayed at the benbow inn instead, about 2 miles south of Garberville

"Reasonable "
zbetz1, 14 Octobre 2015

After driving up the beautiful California coast, my wife and I were looking for a place to stay so we could see the redwoods at Avenue of the Giants (AOTG) the next day. After much research on TripAdvisor for places to stay near AOTG, this Best Western seemed to be our best choice. Other reviews say the area has a drug problem, and I'd say they're right. We arrived around 10pm and my wife felt very unsafe. The hotel is next to a bar, and according to the hotel staff, it gets very loud. During check-in, the lady at the service desk asked if we would like to be moved to the opposite side of the property, away from the bar (very kind of her to ask). We took her up on the offer, and it was indeed quiet. Pros: - clean - spacious room - reasonable price - complimentary breakfast - complimentary WiFi - friendly staff - close to AOTG Cons: - area is sketchy

"Great lodging for the location"
Crbmtb, 10 Octobre 2015

Wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived in Garberville and the first thing we saw near the hotel appeared to be a gathering of street people. The hotel was great, not a reflection of the surroundings. Room had a roomy shower/tub with a nice adjustable shower head, bed was comfortable and mattress was in good shape. Wine and cheese reception was so nice! This was our first stay at a BW+, do they all offer that? The staff was generous with the snacks and wine. Front desk very welcoming and helpful, everything was clean and well maintained. There are several restaurants within walking distance.

Exceptionally clean and well-maintained facility with a very friendly and efficient staff. Wine and cheese tasting and hot breakfasts are a real plus. Located at the edge of town which is a real plus as the rest of the town of Garberville is rather shabby.

"Great Value"
Joan M, 02 Octobre 2015

Excellent value for price - conveniently located near highway and provided clean and comfortable accommodation. The hotel did not have a restaurant and there were very few good eating options in Garberville.

"Good for the location"
790waynet, 01 Octobre 2015

Garberville is a small town so, therefore, there isn't a lot of options but I always choose a BW if available in small towns. The hotel was nice, however, the restaurant behind the hotel was terrible--looked dirty and the food was worse than a fast food restaurant.

"Best Western Garberville"

Reviews for this hotel were excellent and we were not disappointed. Best night sleep we had during our entire trip. Friendly, helpful staff.....would recommend for anyone in the area. Breakfast was average but good.

"Clean, Great Wine & Cheese Reception"
klkks, 28 Septembre 2015

The Best Western in Garberville, CA, was clean and mostly quiet after about 11 p.m. They welcomed us with a wine and cheese bar in the late afternoon hours. The server at the wine and cheese bar was very friendly, helpful, and generous. She is a great hostess who provided a generous pour of wine. There was some street noise, depending on the room, but mostley the noise came from a bar band across street. Some of the nicer rooms were centered on a nice courtyard looking onto a pool. Our room was on the end of an extension wing so we had 3 outside walls. I used ear plugs the entire night but suspect the noise died down around midnight. There was a heavy odor and smell of marijuana in much of the town which carried into the open windows during the late evening, so we closed them. Other guest commented to me about it the next morning, too. The continental breakfast consisted of the typical sausage, pre made omelet, biscuit, banana, waffle, etc. The quality of the breakfast was better than most. The garden room for both the wine and cheese reception, as well as the breakfast, was clean and had a separate entry. It had nice tables that looked out towards the courtyard and pool. The setting was pleasant. The cost for the room was $150. I score this hotel as a 4.

"nice place to stay to visit the redwoods"
OkeyTravellers, 27 Septembre 2015

Certainly not cheap but our room was very nice. Had lots of room, with a comfortable king size bed. Nice amenities. Liked the wine and cheese in the afternoon. The breakfast was also good, they even had omelets in the line up. Very much liked the breakfast area, plenty of tables and a sun room. We were here in the middle of the week and the hotel was full both nights.
