Renee at check in was so sweet and friendly. The hotel is under renovation although repairs stopped by 6:00PM. No noise. A bit of dust due to redoing floors. Our room clean, nicely furnished. Enjoyable
Cleaning product odor was so strong in the hallway that it pervades my room. Smell came thru door and made it difficult to breath. Bad night's sleep and nausea as a result. Would not recommend even tho staff was very nice.
We were delighted with the free upgraded suite. the girl that checked us in was super sweet! I wish I knew her name! All of the staff were cordial, but she was our favorite! I love that is was not in the busy section of Galveston. Close to everything, but not much traffic. Easy to get out on Seawall Blvd.
Just keep doing what your doing The pool could of been a little cleaner But it is off season so I under stand the service was great and the people was friendly I will be returning for other stays thanks for caring
Wow!!! Upon checking in we were upgraded to a corner ocean view suites. What a great surprise to start our birthday getaway!!! then we asked about leaving our truck during our cruise and was told we could with no charge!!! Really what a money saver!!! they don't have a shuttle, but ordering an Uber was no big deal. We slept in so can't comment about breakfast. The gentleman in the lobby that worked for them was so helpful with recommendations for meals and etc. WiIf you going on a cruise and need a place to stay this it!!!
For a one-nighter to Galveston all the way from Dallas, this Best Western was worth the visit. Service from the beginning was superior and friendly. And, for the price, I got a great room, too. Decent bed, great TV, and very fine shower with multiple options. Plus, my room included very nice beachfront views across the street, perfect for sunrises. The room could have been a little bit wider to accommodate more moving around, especially with the dolly to load and unload with. The elevator was too small, and I could just barely fit the dolly in it. Despite those two shortcomings, all the positives more than even things out in the end. If you are here alone or have one other person with you, and you're not bringing a lot of things with you, then this is the perfect hotel. The location is good enough, close to Stewart Beach and the Seawall corridor, and only five minutes to the Strand and Port of Galveston districts. Real close. If you're looking to keep things within budget, then check this place out. And check IN, too!
We stopped here to visit Galveston on our honeymoon roadtrip. We enjoyed courteous customer service and nicely updated rooms. The breakfast was great as well. It was an added bonus that the hotel was within walking distance to the beach, especially for the price!
Liked the stay there, good customer service, clean and close to beach. Only comment to share is - we booked the hotel through an internet travel portal and they gave the worst room in the hotel (no cheap deal, just regular booking). We had to change it paying additional money to get a room that had sunlight coming thru the window and not fully blocked by an adjacent roof.
We had never come as far east of downtown and had not noticed this Best Western. It is a little further from the beach (It is not ON the beach). But still close and much more reasonable than those on the main beach area.We found the rooms nice and the people friendly. We WILL return here on our next stay in Galveston
This was a good place to stay and convenient to area attractions. The rooms were comfortable. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast area is too small for the number of guests. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
Whenever possible, we chose to stay at a Best Western. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly and they have a very good breakfast. Room rates are reasonable and rooms are quiet. This motel was away from all of the crowds which is something we liked. If you want to be in the middle of everything, this is not the motel for you
The service is always wonderful. Shay has helped me many times with my check in/out. she is always pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious. The lobby is huge with plenty of entertainment for the family.
This hotel was a good deal compared to the rest of the hotels on the island. It was clean and the staff was nice. The breakfast was nothing to brag about. Not close to the beach, but quiet and away from the noise.
Husband and I stayed the last week of July. The king room was clean and spacious enough for two. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. I have been in better hotels, but I have also been to much worse. Again, adequate but nothing special. The main appeal was really the location. It was ideal for us! Traffic around the island can be down right ridiculous at times, but this location seems to be in the perfect spot. Close enough to walk to the beach or some of the nearby shops; but just far enough from the center of the island that you won't have to fight traffic to get on the roads. I would stay there again for that convenience alone.
Loved the location. Right across the street from the beach. Close enough to all the attractions and downtown but far away from the busyness. Friendly staff, updated and clean. Will definitely be back.
Well let me start by saying two years ago, me and my family stayed stayed here and we absolutely LOVED IT. But unfortunately, coming back wasn't the same. I was traveling from my home in Dallas to come to Galveston for a few days. Made the reservations the night before for a KING SUITE. Got on the road and called the hotel to let them know I was going to have a late arrival (coming from Dallas) and they were fine with it. They knew I was paying cash, so about a hour later, while still on the road, I get a call from the hotel and they say the have to preautherize my card due to the later check in if not, my reservations will be canceled..... what ??? So then I was rushed to hurry to check in before my room wasn't available anymore, (the lady in the front worked with me tho) I would've been fine with that if they would've told me before I got on the road. So finally once I get there after a 5hr drive, I go to the front desk to check in and they have me reserved under a STANDARD KING (the gentleman who made my reservations the night before was a brand new employee). Ughhhh, so I proceed to explain to the lady that that's NOT what I booked and I have my two children with me, she suggested they sleep in bed with me. Or just to pay the difference from standard to suite. So I go to my truck to get extra cash to fix THEIR STAFFS MISTAKE. Then she comes outside and says they'll put us in the suite for the same cost as the standard because it was their mistake. That's one thing I did appreciate, they were apologetic and realized their fault. So once finally getting that out the way, we go upstairs to our room and open the window. And BAM, a moldy building RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE (attached photos) so I call to see if they had another room, they did, but it was the same view so I was like whatever and just left it alone. After that, everything seemed pretty okay, hot breakfast, fast internet, Godzilla stomping on our heads the whole stay (literally sounded like the crew above us was going to fall thru the ceiling), someone trying to push my door open while it was cracked, it was lovely ?? this room was almost $200 A NIGHT !!! Not worth it AT ALL !!!!!!!!! People just pay that extra to get extra. This was not worth it, very disappointed Best Western. But I guess this is what you should expect when you just got off vacation from Miami Beach with a ocean front view, so I was kinda owned a crappy stay.
We had less than a good impression of this hotel, especially for the price you pay. The check-in staff was rude and unaccommodating. The rooms were clean, but had problems with bugs. We paid for a suite with 3 beds- and the size was very small considering there were 6 of us in the room. The pool was small. The free breakfast was sufficient, but nothing to write home about. And the overall location of the hotel is not in the area of Galveston that you would like to be in. It was fine for a night, but i recommend looking for another option or VRBO before staying at the Best West Seawall Inn.
Another wonderful stay at this hotel!!! We are never disappointed with our stay at this very friendly hotel. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you're at home. They have wonderful recommendations for places to visit, and go out of their way to keep this place so clean! The pool is gorgeous, and is so close to the beach. We can't wait to see y'all again next year!
Found the Room online last minute, great price for location. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the king size suite with the beach view with no additional cost. Hotel was clean and quiet and we would definitely stay here again.
All good, no complaints. Will come again soon. Friendly service. Attentive staff. Close to the seawall too. Will come back soon and stay again at Best Western. Close to the restaurants and the beach. Quiet and relaxing at the pool.
My family and I just went to Galveston for a quick weekend get away and was able to find a room here at the last minute for a great price. The room was clean, the breakfast was good, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and it's right on the seawall.
Staff was superb. They were courteous, professional, and very attentive. The property could use a touch of paint and spakle. The hotel facilities and rooms and very clean. Walk to the beach isn't bad and driving to other attractions, restaurants, and spots around the island is super convenient.
If I could give it zero stars I would! We stayed there for only one night for a cruise next day. They over priced! The a/c does not work! Very humid, front desk staff very rude! You are better off staying in Texas City!
Stayed here on our return from a cruise. Hotel was easy to find, reasonably priced and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Had an awsome beach from room!! This hotel is located at the east side of Galveston.
Not many times do you run into genuine kindness of All the staff you come across but at the Best Western Sea Wall you do! From Renee, on the phone with early check in and her pleasantness on the phone and callback when the room was ready to David who met us at the door ready to help with anything from directions to luggage. Then onto sweet Christina with her warm smile at check in that made our long 6 hour drive all worth it! We also had a wonderful housekeeper I will call her Queen Latifa because I forgot her name because her calming voice sounded just like hers miraculously made our room after we left and came back look amazing and not like a hurricane had hit it. And she was nice in the hallways also. To the maineanece staff that kept the grounds and hotel looking great and smelling fresh like warm towels instead of mildew old hotels like others on the strip. Also props to the room crew that found our shoes and front desk that all went above and beyond and called me. No other hotel has called me when they found something I left behind. For all of these reasons and many more I have already booked 5 more stays here at the Best Western Sea Wall. Thanks for a great first of many stays!!
we checked in with two other couples we were traveling with and had no problems. front desk clerk was very nice. the rooms were large, clean and in good condition. had a wonderful ocean view from our room. breakfast in the morning was very good and the service was very good and the check-out went very good. will stay here again.
We had a a very spacious room with a balcony and view of the ocean. It was very, very nice! So close to everything and we ate at the fishing pier a block away. Delicious! The pool and hot tub were very nice, although they ran out of towels quickly and had to be reminded daily.... Very nice and friendly staff. I even got to do a load of laundry while we swam in the pool.
If you are looking for a great place to stay away from all the action and close to the beach then this is your hotel. All the staff were super friendly, especially Renee with whom I enjoyed talking too. I have stayed at this hotel several times and every visit has been wonderful. Our first night on this visit we had some room neighbors that were very loud till in the morning hours. I called the front desk clerk and he immediately came up and took care of it. The room itself was clean and smelled fresh. The beds were comfortable and were equipped with a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, two types of sausage, cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal, fruit and waffles (I might have left something out). The only suggestion I have is to hang up a full size mirror in the room. But otherwise this is my prefered hotel in Galveston. Can't wait to go back!
We have stayed at this hotel for 6 straight years for at least two weeks in May and sometimes again in Sept. This hotel has the BEST front end staff in the Best Western system. They make you feel at home and comfortable the moment you walk in. Property is well maintained and clean. We love to stay at this eastern end of the island because it is quiet and away from the crowded center seawall. I have one issue and that would be the rate charged for Sat. night. It needs to be lowered for people staying straight thru the weekend as opposed to the cruisers who are only there for 1 night. I would highly recommend this property
Great location. Stay was excellent overall; had a great room. Breakfast a little limited and internet/wireless service was poor. Being there in May, was a great time. Definitely would stay here again.
It was great, clean room. Very nice staff when arrived offered us places to eat and do things in the area. Offered free cruise parking. We chose to still park at the port only be convenient. Room was clean quiet.
I really liked this hotel. I stayed there for 2 nights. It is very clean, rooms are spacious, very comfy beds. Breakfast was very good. Location of the hotel is great, on the Seawall, so I took long walks on the beach but also long walks all across Galveston - it is actually very walkable city. Hotel has parking of its own. They have laundry for guests. I would definitely stay there again.
Room was outdated but clean...suppose to be a suite but it look more like a motel room..place looked clean but I expected more from the way it was presented on internet...wish I had choice better place
I will say I'm glad I Brought the service dogs papers along because the front desk asked for verification. We booked two rooms for two night. My room on 3rd floor I questioned cleanliness. I found what appeared to be wine spilled on the bathroom door. Now being understanding, I told front desk that I could understand how the maid missed it as I noticed when I closed door and proceeded to use facility. I addressed this issue not once but twice. Came back later Saturday evening still there. Addressed again very nicely and came back late Saturday night and still there which totally grossed me out. Of not for my husband and the fact we were with a disabled veteran and it was late, I would've checked out and gone somewhere else.
From the moment I stepped into the lobby till I checked out, Galveston's Best Western Seawall Plus Inn & Suites became top on my list of great hotels! It was so nice, pleasant, no yucky odors like most of the unfortunate hotels in hurricane Harvey flood zones. This great scent continued into my perfect room! I'm a budget shopper, but that doesnt mean I want an outhouse of a room, also doesn't mean I'm looking for high-dollar fancy fixtures. Attention to the important little details is what can make a room's stay comfortable, worth it's price. Along w/lovely scent, there was a peacefully quiet FIRST floor room w/ocean view & I was pleased to find: 1.) freshly sanitized remote 2.) 3 sets of curtains, 1st great quality room darkening/light blocking set, 2nd set of pretty sheers to let light in...3rd happy decorative set! 3.) Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, & soaps were all of very high quality 4.) It was just me, yet room was stocked w/xtra fluffy towels, hand towels & wash cloths. It was this continuing theme of quality/quantity little things that made the stay much better than my last, a 4-star, @ 2x's the est$85/night I was spending at Best Western Seawall Plus! BW outshined the Tremont! Little things: more than 1 trash can, xtr coffee supplies w/clean coffeemaker, handrails in the shower/tub, wonderfully comfortable armchair, heavenly bed w/NO foreign hairs, & TV channels were loaded w/beyond ext. cable + 4 HBO channels @ NO extra charges! The personnel were so friendly & nice, it felt more like I was staying w/my caring family, than some overpriced, overhyped, old hotel where the personnel only acknowledged you when they wanted money!?? Thank you so very much Renee, Carl, and David at the Galveston Best Western Seawall Plus Inn & Suites for the BEST stay at a hotel I've had in decades!
We stayed here before a cruise and the people were so kind and helpful. They gave us a coupon for a free dessert or appetizer at The Fisherman's Wharf and very good directions. The room was nice but did have a bit of a moldy smell but nothing too bad. We enjoyed our time there.
Installation of Daughters of the Nile was the reason for our visit. We enjoyed the view and the experience of the stay. We will definitely stay there again. Thanks to the staff for all they did to make everything enjoyable.
At slightly over $200/night before taxes, this was a horrendous option for us. Imagine paying for a Lexus and getting a Chevy with cloth seats..... Overall hotel - they did a respectable job trying to refresh the entire hotel with new locks, air conditioners, but you can't mask that musk after years and years of wear Room - Probably my worst part of the stay, you could mistake the interior for a Days Inn or some budget $39.99/night room. Internet - The only bright spot, it was of decent speed and easy to get logged on Location - Yes it is on the seawall, but literally at the edge of the island so it is like 15-20 minute drive to the heart of the action Price - Ended up ~$200/night before taxes but wow, it was a really crappy room, I was very pissed when checking in to find what our room was like (and realizing every other room is exactly like it). Breakfast - Bad enough where my kids, after trying it on day 1, decided to skip it on day 2...when kids pass on free waffles, sausages....it isn't good. Service - Commendable, everyone we talked to seemed to care, just no amount of service could overcome the deficiencies of the property that needs a desperate revamp, a removal of the PLUS branding from Best Western, and a reality check on prices.
Front Desk Guy Carl was very friendly , informative , helpful and professional , other staff were also top notch. Hotel was clean neat and well appointed considering the price I pay'd. Small exercise room with top notch equipment. Although clean and without too much wear, the carpet is probably due for remodel.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Galveston!! It is in an excellent location, the rooms are clean, and the staff is both friendly and helpful!! The breakfast offered has a great selection and is delicious!! The night my family arrived at the hotel we were greeted and asked if we needed any help or information getting around the island and were also told fun places to go and things to see!! From this hotel you can walk to the trolley that will take you all over the island, which is helpful about not having to worry about finding parking!! Will definitely stay here next time I am back visiting Galveston!!
Loud noises in the am.. there is a odor... AND IM A DIAMOND MEMBER WITH THEM... I stay with best western ALOT and I will not stay here again... I travel for work so if there is a BW available that's where I stay.. this was for my daughter to see the ocean when she woke up and she went to look.. well screen was all faded and deteriorating so view was horrible for her...
We traveled a day early o Galveston before our family cruise. The BW was in a good location on the east side. I found the hotel to be a good hotel pre-cruise.Included was breakfast. A small but adequate fitness room. Too bad it was cold otherwise the outdoor pool would have been nice.
I found this all suite hotel to be well managed, clean and in a great location. All of the rooms face out to Seawall Blvd and the gulf. There are a few restaurants within a couple block walk and many many more great restaurants a short drive up Seawall Blvd. The staff are very accommodating and the morning breakfast outstanding. There are two Best Westerns within a half mile of each other, this one is at 8520 Seawall Blvd.
Once you get past the lobby you enter and old, dirty elevator and are let out to old out dated carpet. The rooms are just as old and outdated. Lamps leaning on their bases. Trim coming off around the doors. I chose the hotel because of its proximity to the ferry and access to Crystal Beach. This was my first and last time staying.
This is our third time staying at this hotel. Already have room booked for return trip in 6 months. This is a great place to stay, clean rooms, friendly staff, just across from beach. This place can't be beat for the price!!
We stayed here for one night before our cruise and would most likely stay here again. The desk clerk at check in was really nice and very helpful. There was a gentleman that offered us suggestions for a place to eat and hailed the elevator for us as we approached. The breakfast food was pretty standard but there wasn't much variety. The breakfast area is very small and I can't remember the exact number of tables but it was probably around six. The woman setting up the food was very nice and welcoming even though we got there before it officially opened. We had an ocean view room on the second floor. The room felt clean but had an odor that smelled like pain. The bed was comfortable and I didn't notice any sagging areas.. It appears that they are doing some renovation to the rooms. Our room had a new unpainted jam around the closet door. There were some other minor blemishes in the room but they weren't enough to stop me from staying here again. The walls between the rooms seem thin and I could hear the TV in the room next to us but other than that, it was pretty quiet. There didn't seem to be a lot of traffic on the road so traffic noise wasn't an issue. It was about a 5 minute walk to the actual beach across the street. The beach was nice but it was a windy and cold evening so after a little shell hunting we headed back to our room. While the room and breakfast were on the average scale, the staff we dealt with made us feel very welcome and were far above average. They were what made our stay great and the reason we would return.
Older hotel, has been upgraded, our stay was good. Prices were a little high, but it was over the Thanksgiving weekend. We used this hotel as a place to stay before a cruise, and it did serve the purpose well. We were able to leave our vehicle and get a taxi to the cruise terminal. We would stay here again.
Beautiful stay at the Seawall! Great room looking out at the bay! Comfy bed and comfortable clean room. Dave met us as we arrived and was helpful with dinner places. He recommended Miller's Grill and we had a great dinner!
the rooms are well kept with extra accessories like a sofa and work desk. wiff ready with a code given at the desk. breakfast is free and good, not as much as some others i have been in. i think they could have insulated the walls a bit better as we had to listen to our neighbors scream and yell about a football game. the desk staff was very friendly and helpful with a best western account card that i have. it is located at the far end of the sea wall away from heavy traffic which is good but requires a short ride to any restaurants or beach activities.
Have stayed at this property in the past so returned for a relaxing weekend at the annual Dickens on the Strand Festival. This property has gone downhill since my last stay maybe about 2 yrs. ago. The overhead lights over the bathroom mirror had only one light which made the bathroom very dim. told the front desk; was only there 2 nights but how long can it take to replace a light bulb...also had a downstairs room next to the side exit which was extremely noisy early in the morning. Even though it is an exit only door the housekeeping staff seemed to like to use that door continuously early in the morning. Also could hear the TV in the adjacent room and footsteps of the guests above. Turned on the dim light in the middle of the night and 2 crickets greeted me. Don't think I'll return but if I do it won't be ground floor.
as always the hotel personnel , the food, the rooms and just how clean the hotel is, is why we keep going back. they make you feel like family. the location is great cause there's no car noise from the street.
Stayed here the night before our cruise. Dave (Concierge) made sure we had somewhere to eat dinner (it was marvelous) and that we knew about their "cruise parking" arrangement...He is very good at what he does.
the hotel was relaxing and the decor was pleasant. the staff was nice and helpful. the parking was convenient. the exterior was clean. the room was clean, and the bathroom was clean. the bed was very comfortable. the location is convenient because it is near the beach.
Very nice hotel near the beach and the Strand. Clean rooms, everything worked, internet, great breakfast! Would recommend to anyone staying on Galveston island. Hotels closer to the Strand were approximately $100 more per night.
Service was good, place was clean, staff was friendly and we were able to leave our car there while we went on a cruise. And best of all it was on Seawall Drive, along the gulf. Galveston is a good place to visit and the Best Western Plus was a very good choice of a place to stay.
I stay at Best Westerns all the time for work. This is the worst one I have stayed at. I am a Best Western rewards member and when i went to check in I was told that the front desk attendant couldn't give me the rewards member price that is listed online. If I wanted that price I had to make an online reservation. I find that a hassle. I got a 2 queen bed suite since I was traveling with my husband and 3 kids. The room looked poorly done, there was only one tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner. The "queen" beds were actually double, hard as a rock, and the sheets were scratchy. The pull out bed had about a 5 inch foam mattress that was incredibly uncomfortable. The breakfast selection was horrible and there was no where to sit. I needed to print off a form and their printer wouldn't work and I received no help from the front desk on getting it resolved. All in all, horrible experience and I will never stay there again.
Very enjoyable weekend visit with family. Beautiful view of Gulf from 3rd floor window; could hear waves and birds. Very convenient location in Galveston away from major traffic and city noise. Staff makes excellent recommendations for restaurants.
EVERYONE from the time we checked until the time you checked out were nice and courteous. They were extremely accommodating to our needs. I was a first time Grandma and they were senstive and caring to that. We were able to get breakfast brought up to us when we missed the cutoff time. (Great breakfast selects. And coffee is served all day). We were also offered help with the luggage to the car. GREAT staff!
We stayed here prior to a cruise. The hotel is nice, the king suite is awesome, the views are pretty, and the breakfast was great. Our king suite room was HUGE with multiple windows to look out over the water. It is not really near amenities, so we had to have food delivered. Also we couldn't enjoy the Jacuzzi tub as the jets were set too strong and water was flying every wear. Other than that, it was a great stay.
In Sept 2017 I requested group Rate through customer service to block off rooms for wedding. Since then I have called this hotel on 4 different occasions and left my name and number to have manager call me back since they said he is the one who takes care of groups and have NEVER gotten a call back. On the 3rd call the lady that answered Phone assured me she would put my number on his door so he would be sure to see it. After the 4th call I called customer service to make a complaint. At first I was told they couldn't make a complaint because I never actually stayed here and then she said she would contact hotel personally. After being put on hold customer service came back and told me the hotel informed her manager would be back within the hour and she would contact him and contact me back personally by end of day. That was a joke also. I still haven't heard from a manger, customer service or anyone from this hotel. I wanted this hotel because of proximity to ferry and my wedding will be in Crystal Beach. Granted it's not a lot of rooms only 10 so I guess it's no big deal to a company as big as Best Western. Anyway I think I've beem pretty patient and it's time to move on to someone that actually wants my business.
We booked the room for two nights. When we arrived we were super tired and ready for bed. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk was super friendly and very helpful. However, when I opened the door to the room I was greeted by an AWFUL overwhelming smell of urine! My husband and I walked in to turn on the lights. The room was very dirty looking. The beds were made nice but I was not going to stay there feeling nauseous all weekend. The bathroom smelled like mold. We went down to tell the front desk lady. She actually said, "Okay, well come show me the urine!" Seriously, she walked us back up to the room and walked in and smelled the place. She told us the smell was actually cleaning products and offered to move us to another room. I told her if that was the way all the rooms smelled we needed to find another hotel. She did not argue and was kind enough cancel our reservation at no charge. I will call the manager and get all of my money back for that horrible waste of time.
This was a clean place and everyone was very nice and the pool was nice and equipped for handicap swimming. Nice that it's aways from everyone if you want peaceful walks on a quiet part of town. But you can't walk to anything unless you want a hike. Its not a place you walk across the street for a QT or a drink, you will need a car.
So. Much. Noise. The walls are paper thin, doors constantly slam, and there was construction going on that no one felt they should tell us about. The bed and pillows were not comfortable, so any idea of a good sleep was out the window. The shower fixtures were worn out and sprayed water all around, light bulbs were burned out, and it was just an overall feeling of it being unloved. Only redeeming thing was i stayed 2 nights for the price of a nicer hotel, but I regretted every second of it.
It is just a phenomenal location. The quiet end of the island, and closest hotel to the beautiful East Beach! I was totally spoiled by being the only one on the beach on 2 of 3 days at East Beach while the water was as warm as ever. The hotel room at Seawall is excellent! I had originally only booked for a single night, as I typically do to check out a new location, and immediately decided to stay an extra two nights right there. The front desk team was able to adapt my app-based booking of nights 2 & 3 to my current reservations so I didn't have to change my room. It was greatly appreciated! The only area I would look for improvement on is their laundry facility. The machines looked dated and not as clean as I would have liked. I decided rather than use them to go to a local laundry mat to wash my clothes as I was in the middle of a two week trip.
It was a very nice hotel. Staff was very nice and breakfast was a great way to start. We stayed four adults in one room and got a really good price. I would stay here again. Right across street from sea wall
Out original booked hotel was cancelled at the last minute after Hurricane Harvey. Luckily we managed to get the last available room. It was comfy, the staff were friendly, the only quibble was that the room smelled a bit damp. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
I ended up stranded in Galveston during Hurricane Harvey waiting on a cruise that ended up cancelled. The owner, Rax and front desk personnel Christina and Renae were great. The hotel did lose their electricity during the wind and rains of the storms and had to shut down the hotel but the guests that were already there were taken care of. The owner made sure there was still a breakfast and also put out water, drinks and snacks. They went above and beyond what I would have ever expected. So friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning myself again (as I have stayed here a few times already).
I have stayed here before and this time a family trip with five of us. I like the location and we all enjoyed the pool and quick access to Stewart Beach. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Loved the 24 hour coffee area.
We booked 2 big rooms to be gulf view. Pictures on the web were very nice. When we arrived rooms had a view of a brick wall. They agreed to change our rooms to which we then had an air conditioning flood. Carpet was soaking wet. They have us towels. Rooms are nasty. Not at all what was advertised.
When entering the room I was taking over by the smell of mildew. The bed was extremely soft not my taste, and the 4 pillows on the bed very small. Upon waking up on my second day I was greeted by a dead roach on the night stand, at least it was dead, however I didn't like sharing a room with it. The A/C never got cold either. I wouldn't stay here on a future visit.
Hotel was older, but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they suggested some local restaurants because a lot close early in the evenings. Room was pretty standard, slightly shabby, but everything worked. I'm rather sensitive to cigarette smoke and there was none!
My family and I stayed for 1 Saturday night in July 2017-the night before our cruise left. I was surprised to see that the rooms rented for almost $300 a night. Definitely not worth that price. The room was fine, nothing extraordinary. The pool was dirty and my kids wouldn't use it. I found the hotel staff to be rude and curt. We won't ever be back.
This hotel serves a purpose. It was the only place we could get a room for under $150 a night in Galveston on the Friday. I was surprised to see that it was a Best Western Plus flag. There are definitely some things that could be upgraded but as I said it did offer value. It was also clean. It had a good breakfast. And the staff was very nice. It also has a lovely pool. The furnishings could have been replaced in our room especially the lamps. They were well used. And I've really never seen such Mall pillows on the bed before they were more like couch pillows than bed pillows.
Loved this hotel and location. Close to Stewart Beach and out of sight of busy Seawall traffic. Walking distance from most restaurants and just two or three miles from boardwalk. I enjoyed the quiet pool during the day while families were at the beach and early evening walks on the beach. Convenient path to the beach. Nice breakfast each morning.
Booked on a spur of the moment to take my 2 & 3 yr old grand children to beach. when we got there frig didnt work. told maintenance he said they weren't suppose to work but that isnt worst thing... while in pool grandson had to potty since there is no restroom near pool had to take him inside across lobby. Same maintenance guy stop us told me we arent suppose to get water in the lobby and that we could be asked to leave hotel. What?? when i told front desk manager never followed up with me
We stayed one night before our cruise. I dropped off luggage at ship early in am, we left our car at hotel for the week, took the free Trolley to the port. On our return it looked like rain so we took a cab back to hotel $12.00. very pleased with this hotel and will use again when we cruise.
You wont regret staying at this hotel. The quality of this hotel makes everything seems perfect. It's clean, fun, friendly staff, Hot coffee, warm smiles, family environment. The decorations are excellent choice for the hotel the rooms are clean and spacious the price is excellent it also has a gym what else could you ask for.
From arrival to departure, all staff members treated me like a king, and made my stay very much comfortable. The room was very clean the jacuzzi tub in the room is awesome. About the location it's wonderful beaches walking distance across the street with amenities Walgreens within a block-and-a-half away Ferry Landing right down the street, and a pretty nice grocery store called Arlene. Special thanks again to all the staff especially the young ladies and gentleman at the front counters they are doing a wonderful job. Toby G.
For this price (even in Galveston), I expect beds not to be lumpy. I expect to be able to get ice without traveling in a very slow elevator to the lobby. I expect to be able to sleep until *I* decide to wake up, rather than having my do not disturb sign ignored and being awakened by housekeeping, so I was not able to get a full rest. The staff was very nice, but overall this this hotel is just too expensive for the lacking amenities, and to tolerate the disruption of our family activities that ensued while working around these issues. We just wanted to be able to rest while visiting Galveston, but the complications took up more of our time and impeded being able to get rest, which is basically the opposite of what one looks for in a hotel stay.
I couldn't be anymore pleased with the people I encountered that work in this hotel from Mr Raks, who was so unbelievably helpful, to Carl and Christina who were perfect. They made my small vacation a real success. I'll come back again.
This is close to Chili's and Walgreens (if you need anything). We only stayed one night because we were leaving the next morning for a cruise. This hotel has a breakfast that is included and it's somewhat close to the beach, which we wanted to go check out. Entire staff is very helpful and professional. I had requested an ocean view and we were up-graded to a suite! Hotel is clean and one of the better Best Western's I have been to. If I had to complain about something it would be the sheets on the bed. They were stiff, they felt as if they were washed in starched. Kind of scratchy. I didn't let it ruin my stay. I would for sure pick this hotel if we returned to Galveston!
This place was great The staff was very helpful and caring The value was perfect for it's location which is on the seawall We will definitely stay there again. The room was clean and had lots of room It's right across from Stewart beach.
Great hotel for what we needed. Great oceanview. Checkin was easy and lady was very friendly answering all my questions. Our family was with us and they had nice rooms side by side. Breakfast was good!
My mother in law booked the quadruple suite for a family vacation(5 adults and 1 infant). We get there and we are put in a room that was no where close to a quadruple suite. It looked no bigger than a standard room yet the price was more than a standard room. We complained to the lady at the front desk and she was really rude and said we can leave if we want. When we are turning in the room keys I ask to speak to the manager and she said that there was not a manager there. I have never had someone be that rude to me.
PROS: I'm big on hotel cleanliness and this one tops the cake! The staff was pleasant & the hotel is located a non congested area which was refreshing! CONS: While the staff was pleasant one shift had a lady behind the counter more interested in texting than working which normally wouldn't bother me much if everything was in order but our room keys kept getting deactivated.
Got stuck for 5 min in elevator didn't move up or down oh doors didn't open call front desk for help , thank you the outside aircondition to loud on window room food was ok eggs to watering coffe was very good
Rooms need to renovated they appeared to be worn. Breakfast was good. Server at breakfast had a great attitude. The printer in the business center, which is open to the seating area, was not working and I could not get items printed. The staff tried to help but I had to leave and find a place to print what I needed. Overall appearance from the outside is good.
Stayed here more than once. Quiet clean rooms. The staff went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. One of my favorite places to stay. Nice beach right across the street as well. Breakfast was typical but clean and presented quite nicely. Great covered outdoor eating area as well. Sea breeze and more coffee was great combination.
Stayed overnight for my kid's birthday trip as she loves staying at hotels. Service and Staff were excellent. Got a room upgrade for the kid's birthday! Overall good value for money hotel with no frills.
Located at the East end- near restaurants and beaches etc but not in the middle of 'hotel row' along seawall blvd.Nice to come back to away from the noise of bars and the Pleasure Pier. Room was clean and the 3rd floor suite with jacuzzi offers nice views of beach and the hotel pool is also kept clean- Breakfast is the usual fare for this hotel chain but is more than adequate. On a final note we checked out and forgot to pack some items but upon calling them they searched room, found our things and mailed back to us!!! Needless to say we were more than pleasently suprised and thankful that this hotel also has dedicated and honest staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Would book again when in Galveston!
On arrival, the outside appearance of the hotel was nice and clean. I had asked for a room with a Gulf view. At check in we were upgraded to a Suire with a beautiful view! I got a much better deal by booking directly with the BestWestern website than using any of the 'saver' sites like Expedia, Booking, Hotels, etc. ALWAYS DO! The room was clean and comfortable. Very quiet- even with construction on 1st floor. We were on 3rd...never heard or saw a thing.
Great service not too crowded had fun for a middle of the week break! Got an upgrade had super front desk service! Internet connected quickly and had no problems. Lots of TV channels and a great view makes this place perfect for everyone!
Awesome staff. Very friendly & helpful. Was greeted each time we entered the building. Good location along the seawall. Price was reasonable for location & amenities. Would definitely stay again. Happy with my decision to stay there.
The pool was very nice and very clean!! Out out of town guests from Denver really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and morning swim. The hotel had a very clean pleasant smell at time of check in and out. The hallways and elevators where very clean. Parking lot was very well lit! Will stay again. Just need to take care of the small roach problem in the bathroom.
I am stunned by these positive reviews. Folks, this hotel is roach-infested and filthy. We caught two on our first day in the room. The sheets and bedskirt were also stained and one of the walls was obviously splattered with coffee or some other liquid. We complained and showed them the attached pictures. They said they would do a thorough cleaning and comped us that first night (of a two night stay) but on the second night the same nasty bedskirt was on the bed. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. There is zero quality control with respect to cleanliness and quality - no one is looking at the ripped bed coverings, ripped shower curtains, etc. This was easily one of the worst hotels I have ever seen.
Very nice hotel; staff friendly- slept well - no problems at all I would recommend this hotel to friends. Breakfast was very nice- pool was nice as well. We felt safe/ plenty of lightening outside too
I rate this one with three stars based on the noise level and too soft of a bed. this is our second time staying at this location and we like because of the location and it is very clean and well maintained. the staff is friendly and as I stated the location is perfect for us. down at the end of the seawall blvd, away from the rush, but still close to sights. I would rate this place a four star or close to five stars, if not for the noise from the ac unit and the too soft mattress. Otherwise I do recommend this place, especially for the cost! good rate!
Excellent experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and enjoy their career. They gave me great recommendations to places to see around town. I was placed in a very clean, nicely decorated, newly painted and updated room with a great view.
There are a lot of hotels to book in Galveston, and even though we had to drive 5 minutes to the beach, I know we can always count on the Best Western chain of hotels to look after us and this hotel was one of the best. We were upgraded to a suite with a kingsize bed and all three roopms had hot tubs... Breakfast was good, and it's so much easier to have breakfast in the hotel than having to start to drive around to find a place...
we stay at this property at least 12 days a year. We really like where this hotel is located on the island. Very quite but not far from center seawall or strand. Staff is exceptional with recognition, service etc. Maids do a great job on our room especially with all the sand returning with us from the beach. Breakfast is very good. I wish they would lower the room rates a little on Friday and Saturday nights but they are close to the cruise docks so I guess they can charge these rates because of this. Overall we highly recommend this property
The location was exactly were we needed to be in Galveston. The cost of the room and the service were better than most other motels we have stayed at. Food was as expected. The service from Renee at the front desk was outstanding.
My husband booked this hotel on the spur of the moment. We were just looking for an overnight break. The hotel was pretty new. The staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was pretty good but the only downside was that due to the hotel's location a lot of cruise passengers use this hotel. Breakfast was crowded and we couldn't find somewhere to sit at first. In the end, after about 10 minutes, we did find a table. I would imagine that not every day is not as crowded as it was for us. However, overall I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here the night before our cruise. We booked 2 rooms for 8 people. Our rooms were ready upon our arrival and very nice! The people there were very helpful and friendly! They had a nice breakfast with indoor seating our outside by the beautiful pool. We were very happy with it! Very clean, no complaints at all!
We stayed for just one night as we were taking a cruise the next day. This hotel is very close to the port and perfect for our stay! We were able to leave our car here (for the week) for free and just take a cab for about 12 bucks. Its $50 to leave your car in one of the lots at port. We parked right in front so we felt good knowing it would be watched. Krystina was very sweet and helpful. As was David, letting us know some things to do while we were there. We didn't have the breakfast but it looked and smelled good! The only problem was road noise. It is quite close to the street so if you get a front room you do hear alot of street noise. And since its a beach town people are out all night. But like I said it was just for a night and if you request a room in the back I'm sure it would be a great visit. The beds are very comfortable, I slept very well and I normally don't sleep well in other places!! This hotel is close to everything on the sea wall and the beach is right across the street. Didn't feel gritty or stuffy like so many beach hotels normally do.Also had a very nice pool area but we didn't have time to use it. I would definitely stay here again.
We were booked at the Days Inn behind this hotel, and the nice manager offered for us to stay at the Best Western instead, since it had just opened for business. Wow! I think it was an upgrade! The room was huge and included a balcony with a view of the sea! There was a slippery film covering the floors, but I think that it is just from being so close to the sea and the air has salt water in it! The room was luxurious and we also enjoyed breakfast here which included a waffle iron and mix. We had made an early reservation with Days Inn, so we only ended up paying $65 for the night...not bad for Galveston Island!
We always stay at this Best Western location when visiting Galveston. The place is clean and always smells great. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
The only thing that met my expectations given a total for a king room for 2 nights of $344.34 (rate including tax for Friday night $153.69, rate including tax for Saturday night $190.95) was the my request for a quiet room was honored. Plus: + bed comfort - top + room OK in size + clean Minus: - outdated and damaged furniture, showing heavy signs of usage - room door scratched and spotted - carpets in hallways and rooms worn and heavily used - front desk clerk showed a lack of interest in customer satisfaction. I did not feel the slightest interest in appreciation of my diamond membership (that requests 30 nights at Best Western properties within 12 months) or the attempt to take my concerns seriously My complaint about appearance of room for that price seemed to be a nuisance to the front desk clerk - average breakfast considering room rate - No manager available. I asked for a manager immediately after we got to the room and again upon check out. The manager had either just left or would not be back within a few hours. Bottom line: overpaid and missing customer care in every sense, I regret my decision to book a room
Best Western in Galveston didn't treat diamond members very well so why even give them enough business to collect points or diamond status if it means nothing , I'm going back to Marriott. I will definitely have to be offered something more to continue with Best Western.
This hotel looks to be recently updated and is beautiful. It is quiet and offers a wonderful view of the sea. The staff is amazing, and exceptionally friendly, and the complimentary breakfast is much, much more than just the standard continental breakfast. We will definitely stay there whenever we are in Galveston.
Great location! Much quieter than the other parts of the sea wall. The beach is a good walk away. Beautiful sunsets! David recommended a great restaurant! Everyone is very helpful and the room was big!
The hotel was clean and the staff went out of their way to help. We were able to check in 2 hours early and we were leaving we left about 15 min before you should have been able to eat, and the young man seting it up allowed us to get in early.
We were rather disappointed with this place, and its tired looking rooms. We had requested a room on a high floor with a view of the sea. We got ground floor and view of back yard parking lot. I realize these requests can´t always be honoured, but had made the reservation three months in advance. Also, the hotel can´t provide a safe deposit box, contrary to the hotel description. The front desk staff was polite but couldn´t do much to help. It has been a while since we have stayed at Best Westerns, but remembered them as better than this. On a positive note, the pool area was pleasant, and the friendly concierge did his best to make guests feel welcome. The location is also rather good, close to the beach and the historical center of Galveston.
BW was the last hotel on the Galveston Strip. Rooms were average. I was told I had a beautiful view when I checked it. The view was of a parking lot. Not what I expected from a BW. Breakfast was very good though.
Just don't stay at this place-period. I had a different concept of the BW from a stay with a family member in 2011. This was in Benecia, CA. Now this is a hallmark BW. Not this one? Filthy, UNCONTROLLABLE NOISE and no one disciplines the guests to offer courtesy to others. Bathroom never clean, disgusting towels and the front desk could care less.
We were told renovated and shuttle service. Neither were correct. Room had been cancelled without my knowledge and the place was run down and not very clean. Staff were not professional or polite in any way.
The hotel was clean and so were the rooms, a bit of updating is needed. The socket in bathroom was loose hard to plug things in. If you have an apple ipad I could not get it to connect to wifi. Have had this problem at other Best Western hotels as well. The corporate office needs to deal with it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine. If staying for a longer period, the breakfast is the same everyday.
We went to Galveston just for a night away from our home in the Beaumont area. Most of the seawall hotels are very expensive, and we didn't want to spend too much. This one isn't super nice, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good...we were glad to find they had the Texas waffle irons. The hotel is right near Stewart Beach, so would be a great place to stay in the summer to walk to the beach.
One of the nicer medium priced hotels of several we have stayed at in Galveston. Very helpful staff, bed was well above my expectations from Best Western. Pool was clean and attractive but didn't have time to use it. Note: it says seawall in the name but is well northeast of the end if the seawall. Very close to Stewart beach, a very nice public beach with a day use fee that is reasonable and much easier to find parking than on the seawall. The road is much less hectic than Seawall blvd, but you can get to Seawall in about a minute by car. Easy access to downtown via Broadway, and to the Bolivar ferry via Ferry road, all of which converge with Seawall about a block from the hotel. Also the closest hotel to East beach, which is far less crowded and feels more isolated from the city bustle. Great birding on the east end of the island, the ferry and at Bolivar peninsula. Not a great location for access to the western end of the island, though. Also, minimal dining options within a10 minute walk, so best if you have a car. Two minor issues. Window would not open, went off track and had to be forced back down. Several floor tiles and grout were coming loose in the bathroom. Single elevator was small and took its time.
Enjoyed our stay! Great location for the activities we attended! Very helpful staff, clean room! Did not have time to use the pool or the fitness center! Would definitely stay here if we return to Galveston and would recommend to friends!
We stayed at this hotel for three nights with other family members for a wedding. The hotel was very accommodating and when we asked for something, it was always quickly taken care of. I would like to comment on the staff....those who were on the front desk and Tina, who was responsible for the breakfast area. Tina was always checking and cleaning throughout the time we were there and if something was not there, Tina would go back and get it for you. She had such a pleasant way about her that you couldn't help but like her. Thank you.
We came from the cruise and had about 4 hours to kill. I have an 18 months old baby who hit her head earlier, was crying and needed to sleep. I book best western next door from the ship but when we showed up they said the room is not going to be ready until 2:30-3 pm. I explained he situation, told them I paid $125 just for 4 hours and I'll check out at 2:30 but they continued to refuse to check us in. The lady at the front office wouldn't let me speak to the manager and threatened to call a police on me when I asked if she's even human and understood how stressed I am with the baby crying and being hurt. I witnessed people standing in front of hotel and waiting for taxi for 1 h to get to the cruise port and they didn't even offer them help although the hotel next door provides complimentary shuttle there.
We stayed the night before our cruise here in April of 2014 with our 4 kids after flying in from SF Bay Area and taking Galveston Limousine for transport. The room was great and the owners went the extra mile to save our vacation by driving us and another family to the port when the scheduled shuttle bus did not show. Super thank you and we haven't forgotten 3 years later =) Although the trip worked out. Next time we will stay overnight in Houston and take a Galveston Limousine service to the cruise terminal in the morning. This is so we do not depend on a shuttle service since Galveston has limited services. With a family of 6 it is often cheaper to use limousines as my wife found out! We used Galveston Limousine service to and from Houston and they were also great.
We stayed a four nights in the suite with a Jacuzzi tub. The room had a king bed a great view of the pool and ocean. The breakfast was better than expected lots of choices. The pool was clean and large. The landscaping around the pool was very tropical and beautiful. The front desk person had great restaurant recommendations .
Stayed here for a couple of nights on our trip through Texas. The room we were given was old, but it was clean. The bed was comfortable. The noise from the adjoining room was annoying and caused some inconvenience. The smoke alarm activated because of a low battery early in the morning, there were no maintenance staff to rectify the problem, very annoying. The included breakfast was adequate. The ocean is across the road and it is a 10 minutes walk to restaurants and bars.
We spent one night prior to a cruise and had great stay check in was fast and easy our room was huge and great view comfortable beds and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and very ample all in all a great stay only downside was bird poop on balcony
We booked this hotel on the hoof. We visited others that were either being refurbished or were full. We arrived there about 1pm a bit soon for the room to be ready, but the reception staff showed us to the pool and after a short time the room was ready well in advance. The place was really claen and the staff everso helpful. The modest cost of the room included a good breakfast too. A very positive experience
We arrived late to this hotel and were greeted warmly. - and it is located very close to Kemah Boardwalk. Comfy Bed - Great Shower - Very clean. The staff are wonderful - very helpful. Usual breakfast fare. Free USA Today - Fast Internet.
I stayed while on the island for grad school work. It was a very comfortable modern hotel with decent breakfast. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay if you are looking for somewhere on the East End.
We stayed Oct 13-thru 18th 2016. Staff was pleasant, and helpful. We got some good tips what to see and do, while we were there. Room was clean and stocked well with towels. No real issues till, we got stuck in elevator, with three other guests. Elevator was down, and didn't get fixed till next day, husband can do steps, but hard because of cardiac problems. Luckily we stayed in that day, I would not have liked carrying bags down, that day. I got home, and checked balance on my Credit Card, payed CASH before checking out. Did not check out late, no need for them to charge me for another day. But I was charged on my credit card for 1 day. I called and left message on Sunday 23, for Monday I called mgr busy in meetings, no answer back. Left notes Sun & Monday. Called Tues, Mgr did talk to me finally. Yes, there had been mistake, would credit my account. Called Bank of America late Tues no credit. Checked on Wednesday so far NO CREDIT. I am a patient person, but it is wearing thin!!! I am still WAITING on my CREDIT! Bank of America advised me to wait a few more days. I guess I should have read more of REVIEWS on this hotel, although it was a little older, but seems to be renovated, and clean. I've been to numerous Best Westerns throughout the U.S. I would not RATE this particular hotel as a PLUS. To me a Plus is a higher rated and newer Best Western Hotel. There Saturday rate is a little high, compared to rest of days. But that probably based because of Cruise Ships, leaving on Sunday. As a whole Galveston, is great city to visit. Interesting place. Plenty for families to see and do. You have beach or a pool (little bit small). Best time probably May or Oct. when it is not hot and humid. Probably would choose to go to the other BW, if we go back to visit again. In the future I will investigate the hotel a little closer, and probably choose the higher priced place for my money.
The hotel was very good. Friendly and helpful staff, good room and comfortable bed. The pool was a nice change as there was a nice display of foilage and flowers, but I would recommend insect repellent if you are sitting out in the evening. Pool towels provided by the pool. Standard BW breakfast. If you are reading this as a visitor from the UK, please be warned that parking in Galveston is a bit of a nightmare. If you want to park on the 'prom' you have to 'pay by phone', which, unless you have a US sim card, would be very expensive. I would stay at this hotel again, but I'm afraid I wouldn't return to Galveston, mainly because of the parking restrictions everywhere.
always stay there anytime we go to Galveston =a great place to relax and enjoy the pool = enjoyed the gulf view and walking on the seawall =the staff is always friendly and very helpful == beds are great and rooms are always very clean ==
This is an older hotel that has been renovated. Staff was very pleasant, even had someone help us with bags at the elevator. Rooms were clean. Hotel is directly across the street from the beach. Chili's nearby.
If you want to stay away from the main drag and seawall this is a good choice for Galveston. At the east end of town it has easy access by car or even to Stewart Beach by walking. the third floor king rooms have views of the water, although no balconies. The pool area is very nice and if the weather is good you can eat breakfast on the patio near the pool.
The staff made this stay very enjoyable. The staff behind the counter (Renee) was outstanding in recommendations on places to dine and to visit. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the location was just across the street from the beach.
The room was clean and quiet with an ocean view. Also a beautiful pool. Friendly staff and breakfast in the morning was fresh and hot. Easy check out. On eastern side of Galveston, so less crowded. Close to Mario's Italian Restaurant.
Upon arrival I found that the advertised beach is a 3 block walk, through a RV parking lot, very ackward. I scratched my plans of walking alone on the beach early morning... Breakfast was pretty good. But I faced this room issues: - upon arrival noticed debris under the sink - the bathtub stopper was completely out, leaving a gaping hole for cockroaches to crawl through - the carpet to the left of the air conditioning machine was soaking wet, and I just realized it after feeling my feet become very cold due to the wet socks, while I was trying to appreciate the view - the coffeemaker is flimsy and was broken - the office chair was tilting to the left with a loud "pop" and I almost fell sideways I will not go back to this hotel
Comfortable bed, great location. Very dated. Needs some repair work. Needs new carpet, new furniture (chipped and scuffed). Loved David, the concierge. Pool area nice but small. Slowest elevator ever. Screen in window loose and window will not stay up.
This hotel was perfect for quick one night stay in Galveston, TX. It would be just as good for an extended stay or longer weekend. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, location is quite considering it's on the seawall.
Great place to stay a little off the main seawall area but was still very easy to get around. The staff were very friendly and spoke every time they saw us and I mean everyone on the staff the saw us spoke and were nice, The room was clean but they are getting a little dated. I loved my stay here and would stay again. My only complain is the parking on the seawall and the strand a very crazy system with your cell phone to pay but the stay at the Best Western was awesome.
I love this location!! so close to the water and walking distance to several places like eateries, stores and even to the seawall!! only thing i wish is that since it is near the water the pool stayed open a little bit later but i know rules are rules!!!
My wife and I stayed here on a weekend trip to the coast. The hotel was clean and our bed was comfortable. They have a small breakfast in the morning, but there weren't enough tables for everyone and the food is very basic (Mostly muffins, bagels, and things like that). It had a clean pool that we used several times and it is literally right on the sea wall, so the location is great. Price wise, this was a much better deal than many other places on the Island.
The staff were all very nice. The room was very clean and was maintained that way our whole stay. The pool area was also nice and clean. The breakfast items were your normal things. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We did our family reunion, this year, in Crystal Beach, TX. It was a great diversion from our usually barbecue and baseball at a ranch. We rented a 4 bedroom beach house that slept 30, but the real grown-ups, without kids wanted to sleep at a "nearby hotel." Best Western was only 10 miles away, but across Galveston Bay from the beach house. Over that weekend, we had to do 8 ferry rides. Thank goodness, we had a nice, clean, friendly hotel with a great view of the Gulf when we got across the Bay. (One wait was 65 minutes long.) We had breakfast at the hotel and it was the pre-cooked eggs and sausage and the waffle maker. It was hot and good with very attentive attendants. The staff was friendly and accommodating--we needed extra sets of towels. My husband and I along with two, little nieces enjoyed a double-bed on the Bay. We would stay there, again.
I would tell you that this is a very nice place to stay. It is convienent to where you wanted to go. The property was very clean. We did not eat the breakfast, because we never got down there in time. What I did notice was the cleanliness of everything. I could not ask for better hostesses. They were all very helpful. We have been to this property before and it is always a nice place to stay. Beds are wonderful and very relaxing ,not noisey.
But then I like BW hotels. Renee , the front desk lady is VERY freindly and helpful. Our room is close to the lobby and pool. # 109. I would stay here again. Its not in the " main " part of the major ammenities , but everyone has a car , so its really not a big deal.
Close to the beach and the restaurants and nice clean room enjoyed it.. so close to the action of the bars party scene it convenient to walk the beach find your spot the next day to have fun in the sun with the Ocean Breeze in your hair
We had a very pleasant stay and everyone was willing to give info as we asked questions. All staff was telling about family Restaurants. We enjoyed the pool area a lot it kept the kids busy when we were in between outings to the beach and taking in the sights. Have lots of on sight literature for local things to do. The continental breakfast was a nice thing the kids loved the waffle iron was nice not to have to run out and get breakfast for three adults and four children.
We stayed here during Labor Day weekend. The hotel was conveniently located and with easy access to the beach where it wasn't terribly crowded. The rooms are decent and the staff are nice. One main issue I had with this hotel was the breakfast. Though it is convenient and free, the food quality and lack of seating made it very uncomfortable.
Accommodations were wonderful and staff was friendly. Check in and out was quick, staff was great and the breakfast had a good variety. The room was nice and the bed comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.
Clean place. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds. Smelled good. Toilet tank lid was not the one that belonged to it. It was too small. Ceiling in bathroom was flaking off. Front desk employees were very friendly. Pool clean and cool. Nice landscaping around pool. Ask for streetwise room upper floor so you can view ocean.
A great place to stay if you are leaving on a cruise. We will stay there again. Across the street is the gulf, block away was a Walgreen's. Perfect place to stay. We didn't get to the hotel until late. The made sure to hold our room,
The staff at this hotel is always a lot of fun. The location is perfect for my work and play. Close to cruise terminal. Close to ferry. Across from the nicest beach in Galveston. And the night life is close by with the Strand and beach night spots.
The room was walking distance from the water, and just a short drive from the fun and festivities. Room was comfortable, but with three adults I wish we had a fold out option for the third person, or a larger room. The tub did not drain well so when we showered after the beach the tub was left with allot of sand.
The bathroom shower head was coming out of the wall loose not enough towels bathroom door needed painting had markers all over it ,noisey, elevator SLOW and the pillow were pitful little things for the price I paid it should have been better will never there again
Stayed here with 5 others last Sun/Mon/Tuesday. Place is located well, rooms are clean, and reasonably quiet. Was on the first floor, so that's a factor with the noise. Baby cried next door, but hey, folks, we've all been there with babies. Requires patience. Breakfast has powered eggs, some pastries, a good waffle maker or two, and some sausage. Passed on the sausage and eggs, did the waffles and coffee. Outside is fairly clean also. You've got to remember, it is across from the beach. Nobody can keep all the sand out. Staff obviously went full-on to be helpful. Price was ok, maybe a bit high, but it is Galveston after-all. I'd probably stay here again.
This hotel is really all you could want and more. Clean environment, nice staff and great location. You will need to drive across the road to the beach as it's a pretty far distance to walk, but other than that really it's a great hotel to stay at. Will be staying again!
This location is perfect for anyone travelling to Galveston! You are close to the beach, the strip, and many restaurants. It is easy to walk or drive down to the strip where there is rides, amusement activities and multiple restaurants and bars. Hotel gets an extra plus for letting me leave my car in the parking lot while i walked down to the beach on my check out day. Staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
Stopped in for a one night stay during my vacation a few months back, this place is really nice! Just a walk away from the beach, nice modern rooms, staff was nice and professional. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stay here again!
Great location as is out of the busy area, but somewhat near beaches. We drove to the beach. All staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast items were always stocked well up to closing time and were at proper temperatures. We appreciated the shower outside (in pool area) so we could rinse off sand from beach before going to room or pool.
We stayed at this hotel the night before going on a cruise out of Galveston. It was very close to the cruise port terminal which was nice for this stay. The price was good and overall found it to be an average hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful - breakfast was average. The only complaint - beds were a little hard for me.
Traveled to Galveston for business with my spouse; thoroughly enjoyed staying so close to the beach. This property is older, but very clean and nice. I will definitely return, but this time to enjoy the city and the beach.
Spent two days here to celebrate my wife's birthday. We asked for an early check-in, and we were able to get in an hour early. The room was very nice. A comfortable king size bed. Room was very clean and the air conditioner worked great. The breakfast was hot with choices of waffles, sausage, eggs, toast, cereal, pastries, juice and coffee. Staff were very polite. Close to the beach. Would definitely stay there again.
Rosario, the breakfast hostess was very friendly and efficient at her job. She always had a smile on her face. Rex his wife and Ranee were also very friendly and always asked me how everything is. The maids were very pleasant and always acknowledged me. I'm not sure if I met B.J. the manager but we did speak by telephone and she was very helpful. I got a room with a beach view which is what I had requested.
We really enjoyed our room with the sofa-bed and ocean view. The pool area was very relaxing and private. Towels were always stacked full for use. The view from our room was very relaxing. The room had a king bed with sofa bed, frig and microwave. The weather was very hot but using the frig to keep drinks cool was perfect. The pool was very refreshing. The staff at the check in counter was very helpful answering all our questions and gave excellent recommendations for meals. Great place for a romantic get away and for family's as well.
This hotel is nice, clean, and the staff are very accommodating. We checked in early on a busy weekend and they upgraded our rooms as a courtesy. We stay at Best Westerns quite often and this was one of the best.
pulled in tired - the lady behind the counter was soo nice and helpful. New to the area - I asked her to recommend a place to eat. She did and it was perfect! Clean comfortable hotel..... 1st time staying in a Best Western - I usually stay in a 4-5 star hotel. I think I will rethink my lodging after staying here.
Have stayed at this Best Western many times. Always clean. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Like the location. It is away from all the Seawall traffic. Beach is an easy walk away across a not-so-busy road. Drugstore and restaurants within walking distance.
Great location and one of the nicest staff i ever encounter in a hotel, they were so helpful. I accidentally forgot my wallet in the room and without hesitation, they located it and mail it back to me priority mail, I could not be more please with their honest friendly staff, I'll definitely recommend it and will stay there next time I am in the area ...
we loved the staff and the room was very clean. Sheets were crisp and AC was excellent. We loved having the icebox and microwave in room. Very friendly people there. Pool was perfect and the guests were clean and very nice. The breakfast was a full breakfast with sausage and eggs and waffles, yogurt, milk and cereal. And toast, sweetrolls. Couldn't have asked for any better service. I liked the fact they knew great directions to all the placed we wanted to go. They cared for my family like a family. We'll definately go back when we go for our follow up with my daughter and stay there. They were positively great. Thanks for the opportunity for me to express my greatfullness to you and your company.
We decided at the last minute to go to Galveston, TX a day earlier then when we were planning. We had reservation at a different hotel for our stay, complements of our son-in-law, so we only need a room for the night of July 4th. husband called Best Western to check on our points we had enough for a free night. Just by chance this hotel had a mobility room available. When we arrived the desk clerk Renee was very helpful, she said that the manager had up-graded us to a suite. Renee got us checked in gave us each a bottle of water and said if we needed anything else to let her know. She also help us in finding a place to eat that was close to the hotel, told us about the 4th of July Parade and fireworks that were going to take place that evening and the best place to go to see them. Of all the times we have stayed at Best Western Hotels we have always had very helpful desk clerks but Renee just made us feel like we were family. I hope this hotel realizes what a special person they have working for them in Renee. Our suite was very clean and we had a nice view of the beach and ocean.
The best thing about this property is the location and the friendly staff. We stayed mid-week, so it was quiet and we were given a top floor room with sea view at the end of the hall away from the elevator. Very quiet. The room was clean and the TV had the channels my kids like. Everything was working. The carpets could use an update and the mattress was a bit saggy but it wasn't too bad. For the price, it's a great value.
We decided to stay near the beach the night before our Caribbean cruise. We booked a 250 dollar a night room here at the Best Western Seawall. I thought the price indicated some sort of quality. Shame on me! Location, great. Hospitality average. Room an average clean room. Full breakfast, was probably low average with powdered eggs that seemed low end. Pool was fine but only 5 ft, no diving for my grand daughter. Normally I would rate this higher than I did but for what I paid it deserves the two. Location is excellent and it is clean and safe. There is also free parking while on your cruise. This was above a motel 6 and a little below a Holiday Inn Express.
I Checked in on 6/18/16 for fathers day weekend where i planned on giving my parents a mini get away. Everything seemed to be OK despite some discrepancies in the room like a rusted shower bar that when slightly tugged on came out of the shower wall and chipped off pieces of the wall near the closet area along with huge patched up spots in the wall. I understood that it was maybe a remodeled hotel so i reported to the front desk where the girl took a note of it. The stay was going ok but not what i expected especially having that my elderly parents were going to be staying there and after all this was a best western plus that was over 200$ per night and cost me 28,000 of my rewards points. The biggest issue occurred later that night around 11:30 PM or so whenever my me and my 15 year old nephew were using the business center computers. I was using the PC when i heard this hostile and rude tone penetrate the room , i then turned around and noticed the night shift worker was yelling at my nephew that he could not plug his earphones into the computers that he had no business touching private hotel property and that he could have broken it. I asked to speak to his manager because of his hostility and how he handled us as guest .He told me multiple times to just hush and go to my room , he also argued that we were on the computers for over an hour which wasn't true ,and i pointed out to him that there wasn't an allotted time to be on PC ..if there was then i would have adhered to it or even if he notified me that there was. I demanded to see the manager time and time again and it never happened he "attempted " or pretended to call his manager and while doing so he called me a rude little girl and told me to sit down because i was getting on his nerves...i stayed at the desk waiting and he then calls police as i waited at the front desk . Me , my nephew and my sister went to the room to wait for the police to arrive where he followed us down the hall and yelled " ARE YOU EVEN GUEST HERE!! i showed him my key card and there was more verbal exchange. About 10 minutes later the police arrived and asked us what happened . i told them and even offered to show them video of it all they didn't seem to care and they told us that the story that the night shift worker gave them was completely different and so we needed to leave having that the worker did not want us there. This was very traumatic and degrading for me and my family , both because we were highly disrespected and because i wasted money/points on a room that we didn't even get to enjoy. Having a worker that was sooo hostile and rude will cause extreme damage to this hotel.
This is a very convenient location for anyone staying in Galveston. The staff is friendly and helpful. We arrived early and they were able to get a room for us within a half hour. The beach is within walking distance (about a 5 minute walk). Nice pool at the hotel.
Had a great stay here for 4 nights. Staff really friendly and we were moved straight away when the air con in our room broke. No questions asked, just a cool room with a new air con. Would definitely recommend. Swimming pool is great size for a cool off when the weather is hot. Short drive to the beach and great restaurants.
I made my reservation far in advance and got a great deal. Pretty average hotel. Decent breakfast but small breakfast area. Overall hotel is sort of dingy but not terrible. If on a budget this is a good option. Front desk staff friendly, pool was clean, no problem to get extra towels and toiletries. On far east end of island, 10 minute walk to beach but I would drive if you have small kids or are carrying a lot with you. It sucks to make the walk back in the scorching afternoon heat. The rooms look like the pictures online just not as clean. Not necessarily dirty but sort of run down. I would stay here again if other hotels were not available or too expensive.
No one to check us in at 1am. I have a reservation at Best Western Plus with a late arrival with 2 rooms. My family and I arrived at 1am and there was no one to check us in. We have been waiting since. Since then we have called customer service to make a claim. Its 5:20am and still waiting in the lobby.
The front desk clerk Ms. Renee was very helpful, friendly and caring. She went over and above to accommodate our needs and to ensure that we had a great stay. The full-service breakfast offered was good and great variety for everyone! We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends!
This hotel needs some updating as for as the rooms go, but overall was a positive stay with great staff attitudes, willing to help in any way .. When we first arrived our shower ended up overflowing ( we had a handicap shower) and there was water everywhere but the staff quickly assisted and moved up rooms very promptly.. The lady at the check was so cheerful and informative, she really deserves a raise.
The hotel does not match the photos on its website; it is is older and dingier, but decent. What really caused the terrible rating is the treatment we received. The morning after our first (and what would be our only) night, we received a call from the front desk stating we were being charged $150 for smoking. We do not smoke. No one came to check our room, no one asked any questions. Just stated we were being charged. We went to the front desk to discuss and yes things got a little heated (not bad tho) and we were asked to vacate the property.
However, the location is too far from places of interest, the hotel definitely needed updating, and the pool was not ready for the season although we arrived on Wed before Memorial weekend. The one elevator was so small I could barely maneuver the suitcase in and out. The one set of W/D was hardly adecuate for a destination hotel. I would spend a little extra next time.
At the end of the Seawall blvd, away from the main tourist areas. You will not be able to go directly across the street to the beach, which makes this property maintain it's quiet, paradise like atmosphere. Great check-in hostess and fresh coffee awaiting! Thank you!
In the interest of full disclosure, I generally stay at Best Western Plus or Executive Inns when traveling for work. This one, however, really didn't make me happy. The room smelled moldy and the carpet felt damp to my feet. I don't know if it had problems recently or if it's just "old beach" and needs to be replaced. The grout in the tile in the bathroom was coming out and several tiles rocked when you stepped on them. Breakfast was very mediocre for a PLUS. It was more along the lines of the standard Best Western. The saving grace of this hotel is its wonderful staff. Great front desk, housekeeping, even the painters were very friendly and helpful. However, unless they do some updating on their rooms, I'll be staying somewhere else the next time. :(
A++ service and staff. i could not ask for any better. If you go Kristy and David at the front desk are wonderful at their job. Room was great and price was what I wanted to pay. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.. Markip
Enjoyed my stay at Best Western Plus Seawall Inn. It is located close to the road to catch the ferry located on the east side of the island. All rooms opened inside the building and there were 3 floors. Breakfast: scrambled eggs, link and patty sausage, cereal, instant oatmeal, breads, milk, o.j., some fruit, make your own waffles and yogurt. The sitting area was crowded close to the end of the meal.
This hotel is on the far eastern end of the seawall, and depending upon your preference, that can be good and bad. Good is the lack of traffic in front of the hotel and the fact that it is a lot quieter there. Bad is if you want to be able to walk to all the tourist sights and restaurants. We prefer less congestion, so it was great for us. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, with 24 hr. front desk. Nice pool, good breakfast, nice breakfast area. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Good WiFi service. Would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I were on vacation this week and our plans were changed because of weather so we looked up this hotel and saw the great price and location so made a trip for a couple of days. We arrived a couple of hours earlier than the check in time but went in to find out if we could check in anyway, I'm sure because it wasn't peak season and it was on a Tuesday it helped but the lady running the front desk welcomed us with a smile and found us a wonderful room to check into. The room was very nice and spacious, we were placed in a King Suite room and we loved it. The pool was beautiful loved the little fountains feeding into the pool and the flowers around the pool were beautiful to look at very relaxing area. We were just there for one night but I didn't want to leave, we had a very nice time and will definitely come back here.
Hotel prices in Galveston on the weekends are very expensive, so we decided on a more budget-friendly place. The motel was old, but suited our needs as we were only there to sleep. This hotel is at the far eastern end of Seawall Blvd. which suited us because we were near a birding spot on East Beach. Also it was much quieter than motels that are closer to the center of the seawall. We were able to get to dinner at the other end and make it back to the Grand in plenty of time for the play we were attending. We would probably stay there again, but for some people it might not be quite glamorous enough.
I've stayed at BW Plus Galveston Seawall on many occasions and have never been disappointed. There are so welcoming, it just like, they were awaiting your arrival. You know, like when you go home to visit your family! The staff is always nice from the Receptionist to the Housekeeping staff. They offer a great breakfast, clean/relaxing suites, WIFI, gym, pool and of course, its free for your kids to stay. What more could you ask for? My husband and I just needed a break from work and so we made some reservations because they are always so affordable. Little did we know, because we regularly visit they upgraded our suite. It was like a nice, small apt. with a large whirlpool tub and a wider screen TV. Needless to say, we had a great time and can't wait to return again for our quick, relaxing, and affordable getaway!!!
Great staff and a pleasant, clean Hotel. Great location. Lots of dining options and convenient to the beach. Some construction issues, but I'm sure hey will be done with it soon. Will definitely stay at this location again!!
Very pleasant hotel overlooking the sea. Friendly staff, Pleasant room facing the ocean luckily there is a lift for second and third floors. Bed comfortable and clean. Good choice at breakfast with hot food.
Deb and I are on the island with our daughter and grand kids. This was our first stay on the island and I have had good luck with Best Western's in the past. So I booked "this" hotel and it is among the best I have been in!! Spotlessly clean, excellent staff, attractive building and grounds, beautiful pool and rooms with great Gulf views. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Room is comfortable, well furnished, the bed is super comfortable. Close to the Strand, the Port, the ferry, restaurants and the waterpark. It's on the outer eastern edge but still very easy to get where you want and it's quiet. They serve a great hot breakfast included in the room price. We WILL stay here again for sure our next visit! You should too!
I always stay at a Best Western when I travel, even locally. I was in Galveston for the Red Cat Jazz Festival!!!! The hotel was less than 7 miles away from Moody Gardens, it has a beautiful view of the beach just across the highway. The staff are very personable and friendly, even late night!!!!
I had business near this end of the island, and found this hotel at a good rate (with AAA discount). Very nice place, staff was friendly, and the free breakfast exceeded my expectations with its variety. I would stay there again.
I had an excellent experience with this hotel. In my business travels I can not always say that sadly. This is a great place, quiet, clean, comfortable and the entire staff go out of their way to make sure your needs are met. They serve hot breakfast with good selections, great pool are and excellent room views of the Gulf. Close to everything you need with just a couple of minutes drive to toe Strand or the Port area. I will stay here anytime I have to visit Galveston!
Stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Plus Seawall in April. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable. The only negative is that our rooms carpet needed cleaning. Since we were at the end of the island, outside noise was at a minimum.
as always our stay at best western seawall was the best or should I say awesome. From the great rooms to the awesome awesome breakfast they have ( over 12 different things to eat) we can't say enough.
Reasonably priced hotel with a very courteous staff make this well worth the stay. Hotel is located on far East end of Seawall Blvd away from all the noise of the business area so it's quiet and peaceful at night. Staff went above and beyond to be helpful and courteous. The breakfast was plentiful and adequate. I will stay here again and recommend this hotel to my friends. If you're looking for value, cleanliness, comfort and great staff then look no further.
The location of this hotel is perfect but it's the staff that keep it right! Always clean, always helpful, I can't imagine a nicer place to stay in Galveston! Would rather have a choice of bacon or sausage for breakfast rather than a choice of sausage links or patties, seemed a little redundant. That's pretty much the worse thing I could say. You'll enjoy yourself here no doubt.
Upon arrival we were informed that we were entitled to an upgrade in our room and was quite surprised by the room. It was a large room with a Jacuzzi tub and also a couch and chair w/ ottoman which all made for relaxing evenings after long days of site seeing. The staff was very nice especially upon check-in and helpful on places to dine. The person looking after the breakfast in the mornings was also very friendly and nice. Overall, quite a great stay.
Great perk...you can walk to the beach! Granted you have to cross a road(not terribly busy) but for a very reasonably priced hotel, it's a great value. The only bad thing I can say about our experience was the 4 pm check-in, which I find a bit late anyway. Our room wasn't ready at 3:30pm...okay, at 4:15 still not ready....really? Had to wait a half hour when they finally had our room clean & ready. Over that initial issue the rest went well. Good wi-fi, average breakfast, & comfortable room.
Double and Triple check for request gulf view because they will not necessarily honor an advance request and will not move rooms after check in. The property is in a nice location and is clean and affordable.
An older property with mediocre decoration. We checked in and was told we had a back (carpark) facing room. I asked if we could have a forward (sea) facing room and was told we couldn't. I assumed the hotel was full... the carpark told me different, so I can only assume it was too much hassle to change the room. The room is fairly dated with a good working fridge and relatively small and cheap TV compared to other places. The place smelt clean from the off which certainly beats the stale cigarette smell other places have had. We ventured to the pool to relax and found the area clean and OK, but the pool was totally freezing and of very little use. Overall the place is OK, with reasonable wifi. No doubt the breakfast will be very basic as most others are - the breakfast area certainly doesn't offer itself to a huge lavish first meal.
This was more than adequate for our purpose. This was just a weekend beach run so my wife could participate in a fun run and my daughter could get some beach time. Great free breakfast. Across the street from the beach. The staff was friendly.
We stayed here during spring break so the place was full. The staff were very nice and helpful, especially Renee on the desk and the chambermaid. Breakfast was OK but the eggs and sausage were watery tasting. It is within walking distance of Stewart Beach, which you reach by crossing Seawall Boulevard and then either going through the parking entrance (no charge if you are on foot) or through an RV park. The room was very clean and comfortable. The landscaping is especially attractive and there is a covered patio where you can sit outside. The pool is nice but too small and shallow for adults to swim in -- more for kids and just spashing.
we booked this hotel to stay night before our cruise. they let you leave your car there while on the cruise but dont have a shuttle but taxi very quick and cost only $12 to port. Room was good, beds comfortable. only wish that more hotels would put sink and mirror outside of the shower so when you have several girls trying to get ready at same time one could be in shower and one putting on make-up and doing hair.
The motel itself was fine but I was not charged the amount I was quoted when making the reservation. When checking out I was given an inflated bill with the "excuse" that the rate increased because their occupancy rate improved. If you stay here, be sure to GET IT IN WRITING or you can expect to be scammed.
We always stay here when in Galveston. The hotel is very well kept. Our rooms have always been clean and very pleasant to stay in. Hats off to the housekeeping staff. The ladies at the front desk are wonderful. When making our reservation, my name and even my voice was recognized by the front desk clerk. Now, that makes me feel special. The breakfast is excellent. THEY DON'T WATER DOWN THE WAFFLE BATTER!! Yay for them!! The location is great for us. Across the street from east beach, by the ferry and close to the Strand. My last comment...the air conditioners put out some serious cold air!!
One of the better hotels that we've stayed in on Galveston Island. We usually go at least once or twice a year and stay one or two nights. Most time we have our pet with us so we unfortunately can not stay at this hotel as they are not pet friendly. We would however stay here again when we are not traveling with the dog. It was clean and we had a lovely room with a view of the Gulf.
Hotel is very clean, service quite nice and breakfast standard, but would have enjoyed shuttle to/from airport included and/or stay-cruise package as we had considerable additional costs for shuttle services to/from airport and cruise port terminal for family of four. But, hotel did recommend good shuttle and we had pre- booked with Island Breeze shuttle service(highly recommend).
Will make this hotel my 'go to' when traveling to the Galveston area. Proximity is great for all things business and pleasure. Service and amenities are well maintained and kept.. Breakfast was great, and offered great options that were both tasty and healthy.
Great location for the beach and the cruise terminal. Clean and comfortable and quiet. We stayed the night before a cruise. The hotel even offered to let us leave the car there for free. Would definitely stay again, cruise or not, on our next visit to Galveston.
Over all a great stay. Staff was very helpful and ready to serve all our need, Location was great, right on the seawall, rooms were clean, the bed was the best experience I have ever had while traveling. Sausage gravy would make a great addition to breakfast!
The stay here is always wonderful. The location is perfect. Just across from a great beach. Yet it is close to the Strand, ship dock and the hospital area. The staff at this hotel is first class. From the time I arrived the staff made us feel like family.
Our rates were significantly better than what is showing up now so we got a great bargain. And it was a great room. Very comfortable beds. TV was good. Bathroom was nice. Right across the street from the Gulf of Mexico. We had a third floor room with an ocean view and it was nice to see the gulf out the window.
I booked the hotel for Valentines Day, but could not make it. FYI - I checked the website and the hotel is completely sold out. I have no doubt they can sell the room to someone else. The 800 number customer service gave conflicting information that it was either booked through Kayak and they could not cancel, or they needed 48 hours can could not cancel. Kayak has no record. The 48 hours is buried in small print and I had no idea. I can't recall having to ever cancel a hotel room with 48 hours notice. Called my credit card company to verify that there was no prepayment charge and that I was trying to cancel. When I called the hotel, the person at the front desk said there was no way to cancel, it was too bad. I said they were already sold out and I'm sure they could resell the room. He said it didn't matter. When I said I was not going to pay, he threatened to "come after me." When I called 800 customer service to tell them I had been threatened, they said there was not thing they can do, the hotel can do whatever they want.
While traveling with friends we stayed at the BW Plus. It was very nice. Had a corner room with ocean view. This location was competitively priced. Service was nice and room was nice. Just what one is looking for while traveling.
I really enjoyed our stay here. The price was great and the location was awesome. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
We booked our stay here with points and added a couple of extra days when we were on the island for Mardi Gras. The hotel was nice and staff very helpful but wrong end of the island for us. We spend all our time running back down seawall blvd. Still, it was a good experience.
I highly recommend this hotel. We had a very nice room and the staff was super nice to us! The location is at the end of the seawall and we especially liked this as we were not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the Seawall.
We spent one evening at this hotel and I paid the extra $20 to have an ocean front room. Well, it was ocean front, however, there was only a small window looking out front and it was so fogged up that you really couldn't see. There was a balcony though, so you could sit on the balcony and see the ocean. I think all of the rooms had a balcony though with a side ocean view. The room was a typical room for this type of hotel. It was clean but nothing fancy. The price was right, but just understand that this is not a fancy resort, just a clean cheaper hotel.
The staff was extremely helpful through out in ck in & ck out process. They were willing to allow me and my wife to leave our vehicle on their property. while we sailed for a week.Location is perfect for beach goers and for the location to the port facility. i
comfortable room - a "suite" for 5. staff very helpful. $100 more for a Saturday night which unfortunately is Galveston policy, but it was still cheaper than getting 2 rooms. this was the only hotel we could find that could accommodate 5 in one room. great east side location, close to restaurants and the pier. free breakfast available. thanks for getting our cruise off to a great start.
Oh my word! First of all, whoever the guy working at overnight (I so wish I got his name!), made me feel like the lowest piece of scum and should not be working in place that has a moto nation wide "Best Western! Stay with people who care!" We arrived earlier than we expected to (ok, not his fault) but, he didnt care one bit that we had just drove 10 hours! Didn't offer any kind of rate to accommodate us AFTER seeing I had an Employee rate for my actual reservation (that I ended up canceling at 4 in the morning!) I asked if he could at least check my point balance on my rewards to see if just maybe I could redeem them! His response "I can't do that! You can do it yourself!" I left and was gonna come back later to check on status of room! In the mean time, me and my group went and killed time at ihop and then went back to Best Western to try and get some rest in the car (which is impossible)! Well, I had to use the restroom so, I was gonna go in to use it and first, he said it had just been cleaned so I couldn't use and then said "and really you're not a paying guest so you're not allowed to use our bathroom!" As I was walking out the door, I said "WOW! Me and my family are sleeping in our car for the time being and THIS IS THE WORST "CUSTOMER SERVICE I've EVER seen or experienced!" He said "well I don't know where you're coming from, but sorry!" And saw me on my way! I had never been treated so poorly!
The hotel room was too hot when we entered. The bed was hard and the pillows too small and too few. When we entered our room there was a large bug on the bathroom floor. The furniture is old and it's a small tv. The breakfast was cold, crowded and poor selections. This hotel does not provide shuttle service to the cruise terminal. The only ice and vending machine was on the first floor near the check-in desk. On our next trip to Galveston, we will NOT stay at this property. The walls are made of cardboard. We heard people running and stomping all night in the room and hallways above us. We finally called down to the desk about it. We heard every door slam on our floor as well. It was not a restful night at all. It was also difficult to regulate the temperature in our room. I was glad to leave. The pillows smelled like they were old as well. Do not stay at this place.
This hotel was of a 1-2 star quality. However, the price was rather high. They do not provide a shuttle to the cruise terminal. The Breakfast was pitiful and poor selections. The ice and vending machine is on the first floor around from the check in desk. When we entered our room, it was extremely hot and the temperature in Galveston that day was about 48 degrees. There was a huge bug in the bathroom on the floor. I have the picture. The pillows were too few and hard. It was hard to get the correct temperature in the room for us. The furniture was old and as was the small tv. I will not stay here again.
Close to everything, food, beach, downtown, NASA and easy to find. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Even mailed our postcards and not charge us for the postage. Located in a quiet area on the Seawall blvd. where everything is.
This hotel is quiet and was well worth the price paid for the rooms. It was easy to get to and it was easy to get anywhere. We had a good view of the Gulf. The lady on the front desk was very courteous and helpful upon our arrival. The room was clean and comfortable. We had no complaints whatsoever.
Helpful, friendly staff, great rates, great location and reasonable rates. I would recommend it highly if you are planning a stay in Galveston. I have used the hotel on two different occasions and both times have had very good experiences.
Found this hotel online. Called, made reservations, and showed up. The hotel was more than I expected. The management went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I will definitely stay here again and I will recommend this hotel to others. On a side note, I originally booked 5 rooms and I should have booked 6. I called and spoke with the manager and took care of it right away. I was very impressed.
Customer service friendly hotel that offers a very good value with hot breakfast items every morning. Our stay was comfortable and came with a view of the ocean; the king bed/suite faces the water. Lots of customers choose this hotel, especially during the holidays, or even just for a weekend visit to Galveston Island.
When I first booked thru the website I got one price but in checking just before we were to arrive I noted the prices were about $50 less. I asked for the reduction at check in and was told I was stuck since I booked thru the website. I was told I needed to go thru the website again to ask for an adjustment. They got me. Watch the website pricing and adjust before you check in.
Loved this hotel. Made the reservation then showed up a day early..uh oh..they gave me a ocean view room. The room was a king and plenty of space. Included microwave and mini fridge. The room was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and made it a point to say hello every time we came in and out. The breakfast was very basic. Grab a yogurt and eat at one of the restaurants near by. The American was pretty good and so was the breakfast at the Galvez for 13.00
We chose this hotel based upon location. It was perfect for our intended purposes. It is located within walking distance of the beach, walking distance to the Medical Center. It faces toward the east, so you can see the sunrise if you are so inclined. Staff were all friendly and helpful when needed. Standard room was larger than expected; bed was comfortable. Although we did not eat breakfast in the facility, coffee was acceptable.
Room was very clean, staff was very helpful and the bed was comfortable, Will definitely stay at this hotel again. Had a great ocean view. Was expecting fireworks but they are no longer done on New Years. Staff offered great alternative ideas.
This was the low end of all our Best Western Experiences and we have stayed in a lot!! The room looks a little out dated. There was mould around the windows. The room was quite clean though and the bed comfortable. A great range of TV channels. Checkin experience was weird. The staff were new and left us sitting around in the lobby waiting til "checkin time" until a manager asked why we were there and checked us straight in.
We spent Christmas night for a couples get a way and was surprised at the price we were given for Christmas. Pleasantly surprised that is. We enjoyed ourselves even last minute. I think if we were to plan a trip in advance that we would likely consider coming back.
This was simply my favorite place when I visited! The evening clerk could not have been more helpful, nice and knowledgeable of the area! I cannot say enough great things about her! Our room was wonderful with plenty of room. The maid service was simply outstanding. The breakfast was hot, fresh. It was a little crowded, but we just took it back to the room. When checking out we got to visit with BJ at the desk, another simply great person at this hotel. Clean, nice, great prices, close to the beach. Stay here!
I called to book a weekend in Galveston and lets just say they were less than professional. I was speaking with someone who was passing on my questions to someone else. That I didnt understand that. They told me they dont book king suite rooms consecutively and that I'd have to switch rooms, the most absurd thing ive heard especially having stayed at as many hotels as I have. I could barely hear the person I was talking to, I mean the lack of professionalism is ridiculous. I guess that is what you expect for your money. Last time this military family tries to book with a BEST WESTERN PLUS hotel.
When driving around the United States, I choose Best Western Properties, as they consistently meet my expections. Should you find yourself in the Galveston, Texas, area check out the BW Plus Seawall Inn & Suites by the Beach. You will be pleased with your choice.
Great place to stay night before embarking on cruise in Galveston! Wonderful staff. Awesome breakfast. Desk lady helpful on restaurants and cab to ship. Would stay here again before a cruise. Beautiful location on seawall.
Young lady at the front desk was so sweet and attentive to every accommodation we needed. Only complaint we had was the bed was much firmer than either my husband and I are used to. Will definitely be visiting again.
We always stay at this hotel It is short walk to the boardwalk/pier area. . It is a very good value. The staff is attentive. The grounds clean. The rooms are updated and are in good working condition. The breakfast is your normal hotel fare. The coffee is always strong and delicious. They offer flavored creamers. We have stayed there on 4 different occasions (6 nights) since Christmas of 2014. Never have had any issues.
I can't say enough about this motel. The service and motel is just awesome. My wife and I would not stay anywhere else when in Galveston. It's the best for our money and peace. It's at the east end of the seawall and min's from everything you would want to see or do.
The hotel is located across the street from the beach. The lady at the front desk upgraded us to a larger room because of our two children. We appreciated that but the hotel fell short of our expectations. We were disappointed by the breakfast which was very basic - not as good as most Best Westerns.....We also felt a little unsafe walking around the area where the hotel is located. If we went again we would stay closer to the strip where there are restaurants and other well-known hotels. We went into the Walgreens close to the hotel after dark and felt unsafe in the parking lot.
We've stayed at Best Westerns and always appreciated the value, but this one fell far below expectations. The hotel was full, but the breakfast area is carved out of a little space in the lobby with like five tables. We were not able to get breakfast because there was nowhere to sit, and we had waited. Additionally, there was no dedicated breakfast area cleaning up, replenishing food as we've found at other Best Westerns. The front desk lady was running back and forth. Additionally, it was noisy in the hotel. I could hear the person next door snoring. The only positive is that it's close to the Bolivar Ferry, if you're heading that way the next morning.
In town to attend hearing. Arrived December 21 & departed December 25, 2014. Property was clean and well lighted. The room we first had did have a problem which I chose to ignore because of being exhausted due to travel and anxiety. Monday morning arrived and we hung the do not disturb sign on the door. We returned after dark & reported the problem and were quickly given another room. Tuesday morning arrived and my wife was sick as a dog, eventually I got this virus as well. We could not travel until Christmas day. We were not charged for the first night. The manager and his staff were exceptionally sympathetic to our needs and showed me where things I might need were located. I had read all reviews on this property. There was no wet smell and the elevator worked just fine. Breakfast was eggceptional!!!! Cooked and managed by the desk clerk. When we could eat the other diners were messy and allowed their children to run in packs as if they were wild heathens!!! Guests should treat these properties as if it is their own!!! Or perhaps that was the problem they found. Any property beach front is going to smell musty, be subject to wet sandy floors and in need of maintenance year round. We felt as if we mattered. We would definitely stay again. Hats off to the hotel staff, your owner should be proud.
Hotel was average for the price, and the rooms seemed to have a smell of mildew. The hotel staff did bring special spray to try to help with the smell, but it didn't help much. it seems to be a problem in every room. We had mulitple people staying in the hotel and all the room smelled the same. Other than that issue the stay was pretty good. Great breakfast choices!
I stayed there with my family as a going back to school trip for the kids. The ocean view, historic buildings and the lighting was amazing. We arrive to check in and the elevators were down. No problem we needed to stretch our legs after an 8 hour drive. The smell of wet towels and carpet reeked from the front door, stairwells, hallway to the room. Bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. No problem. First night was ok. Breakfast area had little or no room. We ate and began our day. We arrived that night and enjoyed our dinner on the pool deck. As we headed to the room. The elevators were down again. We walked up and the wet towel and carpet smell was worse that yesterday. I got a hotel review a day after checking out. As I am a Best Western Manager. I know the importance of a review. I gave all 10's and personally emailed the GM about the experience and issues we endured based on a Manager level. Thinking he would reply back and a thank you for the 10's dispute the issues. Didn't hear from him at all. Wish I had given the hotel all 1's instead of 10's.
This hotel is clean inside and outside. Room was clean. Staff did not introduce themselves. I'm in a wheelchair & I had to ask for help to reach food at the breakfast bar. Food was good would have liked to have bacon..
let see where to began from the moment we pulled up the staff was ready and jumped into action the hotel staff was ready and willing to do their jobs room was great we can not remember service any better at any hotel before anyone staying in Galveston ya must stay here
This staff is amazing. They are always up beat and professional. I love staying here. I will stay there anytime I work in south Houston. It is worth the extra drive just to experience this place. I like the complete feel of this hotel.
But not this one. Based on the price I expected it to be like the others we had stayed at but this was a disappointment. It's old and not well kept up. There are patches and missing doors. The free breakfast was OK. It was clean.
We often stay at this hotel when traveling to Louisiana. While out of the way it is a pleasant and comfortable way to break the trip into two short trips, We are always pleased with the hotel and staff.
My husband and I took a "mini" vacation and stayed at this hotel overnight. Although it is located on the east end of the island, Galveston is a small place and we were quickly there. It's location is past all the busy areas on Seawall Boulevard and close to Stewart and East Beaches. We were surprised by a complementary upgrade to a suite with a Jacuzzi tub! What fun! The room was immaculate and had several, unexpected amenities. The phone handset has a volume button, the radio had an option to listen to ocean noises, etc. The remote control had been disinfected and was in a separate bag. Television reception was wonderful. Our room had a fabulous, comfy chair with leather ottoman. Breakfast included the typical fare as well as scrambled eggs and sausage. Coffee is always available in the lobby. We will definitely go back!
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western on Seawall Blvd in Galveston. Our room had a great view of Stewart's Beach directly across the street. The room was spacious with a separate seating area and small table with microwave. The bathroom was extra large with a spa tub which was a special treat. The hotel is conveniently located to the beach, shops, and restaurants.
The hotel is great-- clean, well maintained and well appointed. Nice decor. The staff is very friendly! The hotel is within walking distance to the beach, which is nice if you don't want to pay to park on the Seawall. It's also close to so many restaurants and "watering holes," which makes for convenient entertainment. It was a truly lovely and relaxing stay!
Nice location, across the street from the Beach, very clean hotel, friendly staff, very good Internet Service, and wonderful morning breakfast. They do have Laundry Facilities at the hotel, but check the washer first, as at times it is full of dirt from people washing their beach towels and clothes. Plenty of parking, in front and back of hotel. It is a bit of a distance from Pleasure Peer, but it is a nice walk on the Beach to get there.
Over a year ago we made Best Western Plus Seawall Inn & Suites our lodging of choice every time we were in Galveston planning our son's wedding. They have always been so welcoming, accommodating, and extremely friendly during our stays and the hotel has been very comfortable. We also enjoy their complimentary breakfast. So we decided to reserve a block of rooms for the wedding for family and guests. As happy as we have been with the staff, Raks, the manager, exceeded our expectations when we arrived for our 4-night wedding stay. About 8:00pm on our scheduled day of arrival, Raks called to see if we were still coming in that night. Since we wouldn't arrive until sometime after 10:00, he said he wouldn't see us until breakfast. He also informed us that their meeting room would be ours for whatever we needed for our entire stay. When we arrived at 10:30, Debbie behind the front desk (one of my favorite staff members) informed me Raks wanted to greet me when we got in. He stayed late to be able to welcome us!. He showed us the meeting room, pointed out the two small refrigerators stocked with beverages for us and the 3rd fridge stocked with fruit and snacks, as well as the chips and snacks on one of the tables, all compliments of the management. What a wonderful surprise! He then grabbed one of the hotel carts and helped unload our pickup truck quite full of items for the wedding as well as the beverages for the reception and stored them for us until we needed them! His wife BJ has also been wonderful the entire time they have been helping us with our wedding needs. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!
We had a great stay!! Christine, David, and Renee made for a wonderful check-in and experience. Christina referred us to a great restaurant and made check-in easy and painless. David was amazing with his hospitality and Renee multi-tasked like a hero with the breakfast!!
Excellent hotel for value. Staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Love the 24 hour coffee. Beautiful setting for breakfast outside by the pool. Quiet rooms and no problems. Will stay again for sure.
Excellent in every way...internet, luxery room, excellent service, nice surroundings!!! would do it again and advise any who wants a nice hotel to use this hotel in Galveston!!! Breakfast was most enjoyable! Eazy in and out and check in and check out!!!
Had some doubts about location in the beginning but turned out to be perfect location for all activities including the beach, the strand, the seawall, driving in and out of town and so user friendly. No long walks to car and walking distance to restaurants and shops for hair, nails, etc. All modern facility.
Was called to check on reservations. Making sure everything was ok and everything was ready when we arrive. Easy Check in. Took care of any needs. Did not have to wait long for any towels or any other services needed.
As a family with 2 kids, 1 toddler, 1 infant, we want to rest and relax every so often. We decided to spend a weekend in our favorite spot-Galveston. We looked and looked for 2 days for a hotel with the best accomodations we could get for the money. We found Best Western. Not only was it on the seawall, but it was a King Suite with a Jetted Tub according to the description. It was a bit pricey but we went ahead and reserved it. Upon arriving we found out that Checkin started at 4 which was a bit odd but we were ok with it. So we went site seeing for awhile. We returned to the hotel and asked to checkin early due to our kids being so tired. Corrina let us checkin early which we were so gracious for. We got settled in our room but noticed we didnt have our crib we asked for originally in our reservation. I asked Corrina about that and she said she didnt have a comment or request about a crib. She said that because we booked on another website she didnt get it. I was pretty upset and asked well do you have one to which she said they did not have a crib. How am I the first to ask for one? How was my 6 month old to sleep. We ended up having him sleep on a pallet we made on the floor but we had to move furniture around so he wouldnt roll. I ask again why am I the first one to ask for a crib? Why do they not have a crib for their guests. I have stayed at some really crappy hotels that at least had a crib and the one time I pay 200 dollars for a room we dont have one of the single most important items we need to function as a family. It was a nice room with a lot of natural light but the jetted tub was a little scarey. Knobs were broken off and it was very very loud. I only gave a 2 because the crib would have really worked and that night was the worst night we have had in a while with our toddler and our infant because our infant didnt sleep much which had our toddler up too as well as us. So our rest and relaxation turned into the opposite. The room wasnt worth the money and if you have kids call ahead or you will be surprised.
I drive an extra 30 minutes just to stay in this hotel. The location is great and the hotel and great staff make this a trip I look forward to. It is such fun to wake up to the beach view and to be treated like family when I stay here.
Have stayed here before and will likely return. Staff is always pleasant. We had problems with an uncomfortable bed this time and someone had to fix the TV for us. Nice selection of breakfast foods. Stay away from the eggs though. Strange flavor and texture. Can't possibly be made from fresh eggs. The pool area is very pretty. They offer fitness center, laundry and are very close to the beach. Rooms include microwave, fridge, iron and dryer. Maids came every day and did a nice job. All staff was pleasant and helpful.
