« Good old fashioned service »

Checked in and the lady on the front desk offered an upgrade (i'm a platinum rewards member but rarely does this happen). Room (222) was a lovely large room, great views, robes, slippers etc. Restaurant had quality classical dishes (not many burger & chips, lasagne etc.) and service was great with more than enough serving staff (makes a change from other hotels) who had the time to converse with diners who wanted to (but left those of us who didn't alone). Definitely recommend.

    « Wedding »

We had our wedding at this hotel in May and we honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are superb- very well-led by Kieran- and they can never do enough to help, whilst maitnaing 100% professionalism. The wedding organiser, Tracey, was regularly in contact and as a consequence, the day couldn't have gone any better. Even for two quite pedantic people with exacting standards! Our family and friends were thrilled with the accommodation and food on offer. The restaurant is excellent and the 130 people being accommodated throughout the next day did not compromise the qualiry of food (we had a lot of ?foodies' there too!) Every time we go, we have a wonderful experience. Thank you, Forest Hills.

« Fantastic start to finish »

We held a charity ball at the Forest Hills on Sat 12th May - from our initial booking right through to the fantastic evening we had, the staff were amazing at every level. Nicole and Tracey from Conference and Events always responded so helpfully and quickly to every question and amendment we had (and there were many). Assistant Manager Bob was a star in re-configuring the room layout and table plans to reflect our growing numbers, and on the actual day was still helping us out with our last minute changes and solutions, Elaine who ran the waiting on teams on the night was really efficient, and Hotel Manager Kieran was on hand all evening to help out. The waiting on team worked so hard to serve 140 guests a wide variety of food options (all of which were generous portions and tasty) as fast as they possibly could, always courteous and polite. A great night was had by all, but it was made so much easier and pleasant because of the great team at the hotel for whom nothing was too much trouble. We booked a room to stay over - and couldn't believe the size of our family room. Would highly recommend for both a function and accommodation. Thanks Forest Hills, hope you read this and pass on our thanks to all involved.

« Lovely hotel, just needing a little more professionalism from the friendly staff »

This hotel is in a beautiful and useful position. it appears that the management have gone out of their way to create a relaxing and friendly ambiance for their visitors. In doing this they have found friendly staff. This is good, but a little more professionalism in some would add lustre to the experience.

    « Excellent »

Stayed here for one night in May 2018. Room wasn't ready when we arrived but to be fair we arrived very early. We went off to visit family and returned later. Our room was huge with a double bed and two extra beds so great for families! Good facilities, tea, coffee (although never enough milks or tea bags) so bring extra. Hair dryer, fridge, tv. Breakfast wasn't included in the price but I had a full English and it was lovely. Restaurant had a lovely view so made it even nicer. Very nice waitresses and very attentive. All in all worth a visit and if you are there for a couple or more nights take a costume as there is a swimming pool too!

« Could not find fault with anything! »

We stayed as part of a coach party, arrived on Sunday afternoon. Greeted by Duty Manager, Bob and a cheerful band of staff to take all our cases to our rooms. Lovely first dinner, choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts as party. Something to please everyone! An absolutely fantastic view atop the hill, from the restaurant, all the way across the Mersey to Liverpool. Breakfast next morning very hearty, bags of choice, again, something to suit all, Full English, buffet style, and plentiful. This was repeated throughout our stay. The receptionists, waiting staff, bar staff and the managers were all happy, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. A very enjoyable stay in a spacious, comfortable room with a bath and shower over. The hotel was generally busy, which must say something fore its popularity. A great location, quiet, peaceful and highly recommended!

Stopped for a couple of nights. We were warmly welcomed. Our room was clean and comfortable. Couple of minor hiccups straightened out virtually immediately. This hotel is highly recommended if you're in the area

« Good standard hotel for business trip »

Although the outside appearance of this hotel is not the best, the friendly staff, caring service and amenities make this a pleasant stay for a business trip. The room and bed was comfortable as well.

    « Steaks were high »

Located in the beautiful countryside of Cheshire, this hotel is the epitome of peace and serenity. Stayed with my mother in a twin room. Room was spotless however the design was a bit dated and not modern. Lovely view of the countryside from our window. We used the gym pool and spa facilities all of which were very good. I particularly enjoyed the sauna. The restaurant for our evening meal was again a bit dated, and the design really wasn't modern at all, it was like jumping 30 years back in time..however I couldn't really complain as it was all very clean and hygienic. We had an issue with my meal, I asked for a medium rare steak and unfortunately my steak came out well done. We politely notified the restaurant staff who offered me another one, however this took a very lengthy amount of time..roughly 15-20minutes. By the time my steak had come out my mother had finished three quarters of her meal and she was eating slowly on purpose. We had already been to another restaurant that day called ?wagamamas? where they bring the food out separately and there we ate at different times too so I didn't want to experience this situation again which I unfortunately had to as the wait was far too long. As a British citizen, and of royal heritage I have been brought up to follow British ?dinner table etiquette? and the mistake prevented me from doing this. My mother said she felt like she was in a zoo exhibit having that feeling that she was being watched whilst eating, which deeply made me feel embarrassed. No mention of compensation or extras was mentioned which left me quite disappointed. That being said however, the steak was very nice and I was able to swap my fries for vegetables. The view was also incredible from our table where we spotted some bunny rabbits chasing each other which we found amusing. We had a brilliants night sleep and woke up feeling refreshed seeing what breakfast had to offer. There was an full English as well as continental and a selection of fruits and juices. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffee or eggs. I went for a couple of poached eggs which were delightful. The continental breakfast I had was good. Overall my stay was a good one, however little things like the dated decor and steak incident let the hotel down. I also noticed there was a room service tray which had been left in my corridor all night which unfortunately made the whole corridor smell of greasy food. My mother is a vegetarian and she was deeply saddened and distraught by having to witness bones and the remains of a killed and consumed animal in the corridor of a luxury hotel. I had to give her reassurance once in our hotel room and escort her down the corridor every time we walked past, in her own words ?the Cheshire Carcass?. We checked out and it was a lovely surprise to see that my meal had not been charged onto our room and it was compensated for after all. What I would say as constructive criticism to the hotel, is that communication is everything. It clearly wasn't communicated to the chef that I ordered a medium rare steak and it wasn't communicated to me that we were getting compensation. I was originally going to write a 3 star review for this hotel but this kind gesture from the staff for their mistake and inconvenience brought it up to a 4.

    « Excellebt »

Excellent stay for the price paid. Great welcome upon arrival. Lovely quiet hotel; so peaceful. Only thing that was ?wrong' was it was during the heatwave and room was so hot because the window only opened an inch. Some lovely walks around the hotel. Didn't try the leisure club.

« Disappointing visit this time »

This must be the 20th time (at least) that I have stayed at this hotel (I stay a couple of times a year to meet up with friends). The last time we stayed in December 2017 I was disappointed because some revellers who had been at a wedding disturbed the whole hotel with their shouting and banging in the early hours. However, I put it down to bring a ?one off' and we booked again for this weekend. However, once again we were all awoken again during the early hours by revellers shouting and banging round the corridors after an 80's party concluded. To top it off, this morning there was no hot water. Apparently there had been a power cut in the night so the boilers had gone off and there was no hot water. We were given an explanation but no apology or remedy. We are a group of more mature friends who meet twice a year to spend the weekend crafting together. This hotel has been great for that purpose for 10 years, but the last two visits have not been enjoyable. I want to come away to relax and catch up with friends. But today I am so tired I dread the drive home later. I have two more bookings this year with the hotel but I think it's time to look for an alternative venue. I understand the hotel needs maximum occupancy to operate, but perhaps consider placing non party guests at the end of corridors so they are not so easily disturbed.

« Decent hotel, reasonable price very average restaurant »

Frodsham is tucked away in Cheshire. If you have to stay in this region you could do worse. the room was fine if dated, but the restaurant choice was very average and rather overpriced, not helped by items being 'off' after you ordered them at 7pm It does have a gym which is a bonus if you like to use the weights, and it is used by footballers round and about.

    « Laura's baby shower- Sunday 8th April »

A big thank you to the staff at Forest Hills for making my daughters surprise baby shower such a lovely afternoon. The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was just right, comfortable and well laid out. Coffee and tea were unlimited, the afternoon tea was wonderful. A good selection of sandwiches cakes and scones. Chef please note, take the crusts off! A very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend.

    « Ultimate Fitness & HIIT classes »

Ultimate Finess classes now outdoors just in time for the glorious British summertime! It's a great cardio/strength blend circuits-type class. Not only is it a good workout (if you put the effort in) but it's a nice friendly class, with good team comradery! If your staying at the hotel, give it a go (regardless of your fitness levels)! Highly recommended. Rob

« Very Disappointing - Dated and Poor Quality »

Bathroom very dated and salmon coloured, reminiscent of the 70's (note there is a picture in the gallery taken by another guest) Dining experience very overpriced in restuarant and quality of food lacklustre at best. Breakfast also poor - items ran out mid service and had to wait for tables to be cleared. Eggs had to be cooked to order but scrambled eggs still arrived rubbery and overcooked as if they had been sitting around for too long somewhere in the kitchens. We will not be returning and will not be recommneding this hotel to our friends - not up to the usual standards of a BW Hotel. Poor at best :(

    « Really nice hotel »

Stayed at this hotel recently. Room was nice and spacious, with multiple beds, ordinary DVB TV (not those locked-down hotel TVs), a few plug points and tea-making facilities. Only (very minor) negatives are the lack of air conditioning, and the bathroom looked tired and in need of refurbishment (was also strange that a groaning sound would be heard when the toilet was flushed). Other than that, room service was very fast and orderly, there's a big swimming pool accessible to residents and free wifi - crucially the wifi is encrypted. The area where the hotel is is in a picturesque countryside location, with the likes of Tesco and Morrisons less than 10 minutes away. Overall, quite a nice hotel - recommended.

    « One night stay »

Would have been 4 star rate but room 220 only had only one bedside light working and the bed was extremely noisy when ever you turned over. Uncomfortable mattress and an extremely small TV for the room size

« Nice hotel but not a good evening meal »

Arrived at this attractive looking hotel on Easter Saturday there was plenty of parking available and were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist. Our room was on the ground floor and the view from our room was stunning we were looking down on the Mersey it is in a stunning spot. We paid £105.00 for two nights bed and breakfast so felt that we had a good deal. One king size bed and a small divan with a table and two comfortable easy chairs made the room very comfortable, tea and coffee tray with complimentary biscuits, and a decent sized television was impressive , the bathroom was light and airy so no complaints at all. Breakfast was nice the staff very attentive and smart, coffee and toast brought to the table and then it was buffet style help yourself to a full English or pastries and fruit etc absolutely superb service we were very impressed Sadly there was one bug bear the resteraunt in the evening was a la carte and we really did not want this type of meal apart from the fact it was rather expensive, we ate out the first evening but on the second night after a long day visiting Liverpool we asked the staff if we could order from the snack menu and still sit in the resteraunt, They were very accommodating and gave us a nice table by the window, my hubby ordered a pepperoni pizza and I ordered beef burger Chips and salad the meal arrived after about half an hour and looked very good indeed but when we started to eat it the pizza was stone cold and the burger bun had been just taken out of a fridge I think, the burger itself was stone cold but the chips to be fair were piping hot. the waitress was very apologetic and offered to put it right but I really had been put off I cancelled my meal and when the pizza came back after five minutes just a tad warmer,we had a nibble on a piece each and gave up after that. Very disappointed a great hotel like this cannot get its snack menu edible I wonder what their A la carte standards are like. We would stay again if we were in the area but defiantly wouldn't partake in an evening meal.

    « Two Artists make a delivery »

As we had to deliver some pictures to a gallery in Frodsham on the Sunday morning I booked a weekend stay at Forest Hills nearby. Our journey from the Forest of Dean took three and a half hours so we were looking forward to relaxing once we'd checked in. Our first floor room was clean and fresh as was our bathroom. Although it was a little small compared to other recent hotel visits. I'd already booked a table for dinner when I made the original hotel booking so we relaxed until it was time to get changed for dinner. We were the first in the restaurant and from our window table we could see twinkling lights in the darkening sky across the Mersey Estuary. One smiling waitress took our wine order while another served our dinner. We were impressed with the food. Large portions, exquisitely presented and full of taste. We wanted to share a chocolate brownie for dessert but it was only served with ice-cream or chocolate sauce. We didn't want either. Although custard wasn't on the menu we still got a jug of hot custard with our brownie! After our "traditional" wet pudding in the bar (Cointreau for Jackie and a single malt for me) we returned to our room for a peaceful sleep in a comfy bed. We normally stay in hotels mid-week so Sunday breakfast (for us) was a bit of a nightmare. All the tables were occupied, the restaurant was packed and everything was self-service. We queued for 10 minutes before a table became vacant. I spoke with the receptionist afterwards and she apologised that weekend breakfasts could be a bit of a scrum! We delivered Jackie's pictures to the Arts Centre in Frodsham, took coffee and cake in a High Street 'deli' before driving off to explore the Delamere Forest. Judging by the packed car parks everybody was doing the same ...enjoying some unexpected warm sunny weather! Compared to breakfast our dinner was a sedate occasion and we enjoyed another superb meal served by friendly staff in the quiet restaurant. (We got custard with our dessert again!) Monday breakfast was as we prefer breakfasts to be. Personal waitress service, piping hot food in a very quiet restaurant! We enjoyed our weekend break and using some of my accrued Best Western Rewards points (for the Sunday) the bill was very reasonable. With discounted tickets (bought from Reception) we checked-out and spent four enjoyable hours wandering around Chester Zoo before heading back to the Forest of Dean.

« Great Base for Chester Zoo »

Really friendly staff and a good size of family room made this a perfect stop off for a day at the zoo. Pool facilities dated but perfectly suitable although the gym machines weren't great! Main issue was the heat in the bedroom as we were cooked all night! Would return again if we came back to this area.

    « Another lovely stay. »

Once again another great stay - everywhere was clean, good night's sleep, yummy breakfast, great views, great staff and thoroughly enjoyed using the leisure facilities - everything we want from a short break. We will return soon for another chill-out stay.

    « Amazing »

The family room was enormous and well furnished. The spa was unexpected and totally fantastic. Utilised it fully and was clean and well maintained. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to all.

    « Great Visit! »

I spent 2 night here on business. I was upgraded to an executive room which was huge and very comfortable. There was everything I required and more. The service from all the staff was exceptional and professional. My only down side was the bar area was not really big enough should there be a few people having bar meals. The Christmas decorations were still up on my arrival and they were delightful!

    « Another great experience!!! »

Our stay on New Years Eve is one we wont forget. From the welcome on arrival to the departure as it was so enjoyable. The Dinner and entertainment were excellent. The atmosphere made it such a memorable evening. We live locally, so decided to go back and stay for the Valentines Massacre Evening which was so entertaining.

    « Family stay »

Stayed overnight as was attending a birthday party. From the first moment we checked in I was impressed with the friendly customer service. We had a family room with was large, a double bed, 2 single beds, fridge and a sofa bed with still plenty of room to move about. The bathroom had a double walk in shower and the entire room looked like it had been recently refurbished. The amenites are good, pool (which the childrrn loved) steam room, sauna, gym, bar serving bar food. Excellent value for money considering I have paid more to stay in a premium inn. The breakfast was excellent, good choice even offered choice of egg including omelette. We had something to eat off the bar menu which was Ok, sandwiches nice, the frozen chips let it down. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area I would choose this hotel over the other local hotels such as Holiday Inn or Premier Inn. My children keep asking when we can go back.

« Our perfect wedding day »

    « Daughter's Wedding »

Stayed for two nights at Forest Hills Frodsham Friday & Saturday. Evening meal on the Friday, pre booked, as part of the package, was three courses could only manage first two, food was excellent. Bar prices as expected for a hotel. Room was large but a tad noisy at night as it was over charging bay for Elec cars? The Saturday was our daughter's wedding. This went without a hitch Kieran McCabe cannot be praised highly enough for organising this event he and his team did a great job during the full event. The wedding breakfast and later buffet were really good. The next days breakfast went down well too. Would recommend this venue if anybody wants a well organised wedding and a great place to stay.

    « Nice hotel »

Nice Hotel and Spa. Food was disappointing Seafood starter was Squid, Whitebait and king Prawns, Squid was tough whitebait was crisp and hard, sent most back, waitress was not really Interested. main course Salmon was over cooked, steak was only just warm and a delay in bringing sauce, breakfast was good on Saturday, Sunday 15min wait for fried eggs, none under the buffet hotplate

« Long but happy stay!! »

Due to a secondment to a nearby office, I ended up staying 12 nights. On arrival I was quickly checked in and told where my room was. On entering the room (double bed, single occupancy) I was very happy with the lay out and spacious room. There was plenty of space to unpack and a generous wardrobe area. The only negative was the ensuite bathroom. Very dated but clean. The peach suite looked like something out of the ealry 90's, maybe the 80's. The hotel is situated on top of a hill and is a 5 minute drive / 20-30 min walk from the main high street in Frodsham. I wouldn't advise walking unless you are very fit as there is a 1 in 16 hill just before the top. In fact I had the use of a car and the night it snowed, it was very touch and go if I was going to reach the top. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Choice of cereals, continental and then the obligatory full English. Food was hot and well cooked. I used the snack menu for evening meals, as I was getting back late. Room service was excellent and food was always hot. They have a spa and swimming pool which was available for guests. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and if I was to return to work in the my Frodsham office, I would definitely stay here.

    « a bit hit and miss »

Forest hills is in a great location, especially if you like to walk in countryside. The hotel is well set out the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious comfortable and clean as is the hotel throughout with every facility required. There was a wedding on the night we were there so we ate in another restaurant which was a perfectly pleasant dining room, unfortunately the food was very poor, neither myself my Wife or our granddaughter enjoyed our meal, maybe it was a one off because of the wedding. The only other downside was the temperature of the pool area, the water was fine but as soon as you got out it was freezing so we had to stay immersed at all times. looking at other excellent pool reviews maybe this was also a one off as we were in the pool at about 7 p.m on a Saturday. This is a very nice hotel and we would return for the location alone but might not eat in thee restaurant.

« Helpful and caring leisure staff »

I have just started to take a lovely lady swimming at the Forest hill leisure club who has got Dementia. Tim and his leisure team have been so wonderfully helpful and caring towards my friend. I cant express how grateful I am to them. Tim provided my friend with a towel as my friend had forgotten hers, and allowed me to roped off a lane for her as she was unsure about entering water. My friend has really enjoyed coming swimming and has now made some new friends up at the club. I would highly recommend the hotel and leisure facilities to anyone. Thanks Tim for making my friends experience such an enjoyable one.

    « What a difference »

Can not fault the FH hotel, the changes made are noticeable instantly. The new ops manager is excellent and brings new energy to what we're an already good team, where nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are also very good and well maintained, as is the chef and changes to the menu. Danielle the waitress at dinner was superb, who was a trainee at my last visit. Well done all, credit where it's due.

    « BRILLIANT »

We stayed here overnight for a spa weekend and it was brilliant. All the staff our so pleasant and polite. The rooms are ideal for an overnight stay with comfy beds and plenty of storage space ok the bathrooms are a bit dated but all very clean. The food at the hotel was lovely and very reasonably priced but the drinks are abit on the pricey side. The spa facilities were great and the staff also very friendly. All in all we had a lovely weekend and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

« Review of the gym »

In October last year my brother and sister chipped in to buy me a package which the gym was offering called LBD. To be honest I was bloody annoyed as I HATED exercise and didn't even own a pair of trainers. I did however need to do something about my fitness and weight, so I went along (new trainers in hand). Well the gym was such a welcoming place and the staff so knowledgable, approachable, helpful and inspiring that I fell in love with the place and thanks to the LBD programme I lost two stone before Christmas (8 weeks). I am now a gym addict. I persuaded my friends to give it a try too and they also love it. My two kids enjoy the pool and kids fitness classes which are really fun. I've stuck on a pic of my eldest joining in on one of my PT sessions. I mostly work out in the small functional suite which is well stocked with a range of equipment. This room is downstairs and has a nice view of the pool. A good thing about this room is if you are or where like me and not used to the gym it's quite a private space where you can work out. There is a two story gym area which is much bigger and the atmosphere in that room is very positively driven. If you are visiting the area or are a local resident I can honestly recommend this gym and the Packages of training on offer. Only draw back is I would like the pool to be bigger, but size isn't everything!

« Always enjoy staying at this hotel »

Stayed at this hotel several times, and always greeted by friendly staff. Food in the restaurant is excellent and the leisure facilities are good, with a well equipped gym and a good sized pool. I'd like to give a special mention to Tim and James who are part of the leisure team.

« Very good until the end »

Loved the place, had a great time, good entertainment on and lovely staff. Would have gave 5 stars but was shocked to the core when I was lying in bed the following morning and a member of staff just knocks and walks in straight away using her own key looks at me and walks out again. This was 9.45am and we had the room until 11.00 Why did they enter, luckily I was just lying in bed and not walking around in the nude. Put me off booking again this has.

    4
    « Leisure Facilities »

The leisure facilities at the hotel are a high standard and any issues are rectified easily and quickly with small disruption to the members and the guests. The pool is at a good standard to relax and enjoy a swim, steam/ sauna and jacuzzi. Staff are friendly and acknowledge you when entering the facilities offering essentials such as a padlock to use and answer queries. You are able to find a staff member to assist and help when possible creating a comfortable environment.

« Our Wedding Celebration @ Forest Hills Hotel (Happiness is togetherness) »

Our Wedding Celebration @ Forest Hills Hotel (Happiness is togetherness) with family and special friends a really special day, which started as a small quiet event and then developed into a full day and evening occasion with more than a little help from Tracey Harding Senior Conference Events Organiser. Yeah this was actually a case of don't tell the bride (Sissi) The hotel is located in our part of the world on Frodsham hill surrounded by fields, the famous sandstone trail, lovely views of the Cheshire plains and the golf course which I have frequented on numerous occasions. In total we arranged - accommodated around thirty guests staying over without many complaints, we stayed in room 106 on our wedding night. Constant baby crying throughout the night was a minor issue after a long special day. Wedding lunch ? Evening Buffet ? Breakfast yeah ? yeah - yeah ((All good)) Sincere thanks!! Finding the love of a lifetime is made possible when one has already experienced a lifetime's worth of love. Thank you to our friends, family members (Eastern and Western), Tracey Harding and her wonderful hotel staff without whom this day would never be possible. Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose! Love & Respect ?? Mr Gordon & Mrs Sissi xx (Sandymoor Cheshire)

    « ?Ultimate fitness? class »

Have done a few of the ?Ultimate fitness? classes at the Forest Hills hotel gym. A great class, with great instructors - who will push you as hard as YOU want to be pushed. You'll get out of the class what you put in. Highly recommend 45ish minute blitz. I'll be going back for more!

« Fourth Year Christmas Day Lunch »

Had another wonderful Christmas Day lunch here with my family. We were met at the door and welcomed warmly. The layout and the decoration of the tables is a credit to the hotel. The staff and waiting staff were efficient yet discreet. The food was excellent in choice and quality. We were never hurried through our 4 courses. We then retired to the Delamere Room for coffee and beautiful chocolates. The tea and coffee was replenished regularly, as were the chocolates! The efficiency and friendliness of the hotel made the experience a truly special day. A special thank you to Kieran, the Manager for managing the event and excellent service.

    « Xmas lunch »

Very disappointed with the whole experience. Xmas day lunch was booked for a family of four. There was no atmosphere at all and the staff looked as if they Did not want to be there. The meal was so mediocre , no way worth the £70 + per head i paid. When we left my son left a small soft toy on the table, within half an hour we returned to the hotel but staff claimed that it could not be found. This is very strange as it would have been seen when the table was cleared. I was told that they would keep looking and that I would receive a call to confirm either way, I did not get that call. I rang reception the following day, the lady I spoke to said she would check and call me, again no call. This is very poor customer service indeed. I will not be going back there.

    « Great night for Amy's 21st »

We stayed Saturday (16th December) had a few drinks in the afternoon while catching up with guests coming to the party, Staff were all very friendly in the bar area. We went to our room which was very clean and tidy had everything that we needed in there like tea, coffee, biscuits, shampoo etc. The food was gorgeous at the party and staff were very nice, thanks to everyone for making Amy's party brilliant. I would definitely recommend anyone to have there party at the forest hills Hotel.

    « The Sinatra-Bubl? swing show.15th december. »

Booked our rooms early and our show tickets. Extremly good value. Good clean quiet room too. Excellant show followed a very good meal indeed . 2 hours of drinks free and complemented by 3 bottles of wine on the table. All together for the double room , show , drinks and food. A good hearty buffet breakfast, pleasant staff and premises and very clean hotel too, means excellant value for money in our opinion.. will book in again for another show.

« Xmas party overnight stay, enjoyable despite the meagre meal portions »

Clean rooms of a good size with everything you need for an overnight stay, tea coffee biscuit, hairdryer etc. We arrived early so we use the pool facilities, staff on the leisure facility reception were unaware that it is possible to hire a bathrobe & only one member of the hotel reception staff knew this too. On the phone we had been told it was £5 deposit when it was actually a £5 charge. The pool was nice but the jacuzzi wasn't working & with only one lounger & 2 plastic chairs we didn't get our group poolside relaxation we wanted. The Motown Xmas party evening was enjoyed by all of our group, with the great music choices the dancing started early just after the soup starter was cleared. This continued throughout the evening & we all loved the live singer TJ. There are no choices in the 3 courses, carrot soup with roll ( we did get butter) chicken or veggie ricotta cheese parcel, one piece of carrot, HALF a pig in blanket chipolata, 2 pale 'roast' potatoes, a small ball of stuffing, 5 tiny overcooked sprouts & a tough piece of chicken with gravy barely covered half of the plate. And it was a small plate. The orange flan dessert was nice served with the thinnest of cream. The free drinks are from 9.30 to 11.30 all non-branded versions. So good job we didn't have high hopes for the meal. Decent breakfast in the morning & all the staff were very helpful

    « Nice family stay »

Nice hotel with a lovely view, but can be extremely busy with functions. Leisure facilities are good and family rooms are a great size with a double bed plus two single beds. One down side is that there are no lifts so can be difficult.

    « A butter shortage in Frodsham »

This is a truly lovely hotel with great views, superb sleep quality in the bed - I want those pillows !! And the Christmas decorations were lovely. I had two very comfortable nights with truly excellent wifi in room. But in the evening there is a shortage of bread and butter in Frodsham. On the first night I had pate and toast, which was literally pate and toast, and the 2nd day i had a lovely Ploughmans salad, with the meanest amount of bread not even a whole petit pain, just a couple of tiny slices and no butter. Us Brits are raised on bread and butter - give us butter with our bread please.

    « Nearly Perfect »

Back for our annual visit to Oulton Park and this time I didn't even check the Premier Inn Price We arrived late on the Friday to find a Guide Leader Convention and a fully booked hotel Stupidly I had booked via booking.com who had allocated me and my Son a Double rather than a twin. The staff resolved this with a mattress on the floor the first night and a fully made up bed for our second night which we were happy with considering it wasn't the Hotels error Breakfast great as normal Cab't really fault the place

« Best Western Forest Hills »

the room was nice and clean but the smoke alarm was covered in a plastic shower cap, I ate in the restaurant, 50% of the mussels were closed and had to be sent back , and the steak which was ordered medium rare arrived well done. the hot apple pie was Luke warm and the cream was just full cream milk , in all not what I expect from best western

Part of a family group staying here to celebrate a very special birthday, also held in the hotel. It was an excellent choice. Rooms were good, comfortable and clean and breakfast the next morning was excellent. The meal was very good and the birthday girl loved it, everyone did. A great night and thanks to all staff. The latter were superb, friendly and professional. Recommended!

« Very friendly hotel, great for famolies »

We went, with two granddaughters, overnight. It is located in large grounds with excellent views over the Mersey estuary and surrounding countryside. Our room had 2 single and one double comfy beds but was still large enough to move around with ease. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were great and the kids had a great time. Breakfast was better than your usual hotel buffet ones and eggs were freshly cooked. I have to give a special mention to all of the staff who were bright, cheerful and very helpful at all times. We will definitely visit again with the grandchildren.

    « Pleasant hotel »

Pleasant hotel in terms of rooms, all clean and comfortable, and the location and price are nice. Food is not badly priced, at least at the bar, but average. Service rather diffident and variable. I didn't manage to use the leisure facilities but they did look good.

    « Pleasant, comfortable old-fashioned hotel »

My wife and I stayed here for just one night after arriving on an evening flight to Liverpool Airport. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the first floor. Surprisingly the hotel has no lift, which would definitely have been a challenge with 2 medium suitcases, but the bags were quickly taken up to our room by a young guy from the spa fitness centre. The room was cosy and well-furnished, if rather hot. No air-con and a big hot pipe running under the window. We had 2 good sized twin beds. My bed was reasonably comfortable, but my wife's was very old and creaked and groaned, the mattress lumpy and uncomfortable. The hotel definitely needs to replace such old beds. The bathroom was small, but the shower worked well, plenty of hot water. The seat on the WC was a nightmare; it seems to have been just replaced, as it was new, but really cheap and flimsy, threatening to throw one off the loo at the most embarrassing time. This needs sorting out. We just had bar snacks. But these were tasty and there was a reasonable selection of beers and wine. Service was friendly and quick. The following morning we had a very good full breakfast. The chef unfortunately initially offered undercooked bacon and sausages, but the young serving lady quickly had a word with him and we then got nice crispy tasty bacon and good sausages within 5 minutes. Excellent service. The hotel is a bit off the beaten track, but the taxi driver found it with use of his satnav. Quite an expensive run from Liverpool Airport. But in return it offers a great view. We did not use the spa facilities, as time was short. Not at all a bad hotel, and the staff were really good. Just needs to invest some money in better beds and fittings. And maybe a lift - if that is technically possible?

    « Really nice »

Nice welcome at check-in. I visited the hotel with two children and was impressed that the leisure facilities catered for them. My children had the pleasure of a fitness workout under the expert supervison of Tim. Tim designed and taylored a brilliant junior workout - which left me time to go to the gym. The swimming pool, jazucci bath and sauna were comfortable and relaxing. The rooms were a bit hot - however were comfortable. TV could benefit from being mounted on the wall, as the screen is difficult to see when lying in bed.

    « Great stay! »

Stayed at the hotel for two nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. We stayed in room 104 which the bathroom I believe, has been recently updated/renovated. The hotel is surrounded by fields which is lovely. All staff were very friendly, even gave us an ice bucket and glasses when we were getting ready in the morning. The room and bathroom were spacious and the shower was great. We had booked a local hairdresser and makeup artist and there was more than enough space for us all in the room! Breakfast was OK, nothing out of this world but everything you need. Very reasonable price for the stay, I would definitely stay here again if I returned to the area.

Very close to Cheshire Oaks outlet

    « Intense zone »

The new class 'intense zone' on a Saturday morning at forest hills is definitely worth a go! Challenging activities to get all the muscles working whilst having fun outside! The trainers made it fun and light hearted whilst also pushing us to our limits! Flipping tyres, pushing a sled and pulling ropes were just a few of the many exercises that got the heart beat going! It was definitely the best way to start a Saturday morning and I will definitely be going again this week! Thanks leisure team!

    « A great place to stay. »

We were looking for a hotel for an overnight when visiting the Chester area. This hotel came up on a deal and it was a great choice. The hotel staff were friendly and quickly got our room sorted out. The room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and very clean. We didn't have breakfast as we weren't after breakfast but it was 7 for continent or £11 for full which isn't too bad given the room cost. I would book here again.

    « Very family friendly »

We spent a few nights here with our 3 kids as a base to explore the North West. The check-in was made special for the kids as they each received a Kids Welcome pack, which including colouring's, balloons, aeroplane toy etc. The room was massive and had a Double bed, two single beds and double sized sofa bed. There are not many Hotels that cater for families of 5 people. The kids also enjoyed the Hotels pool and leisure facilities. The staff were very pleasant and had a great attitude towards the kids. The only gripe that I had was that I was told at Check-in that if 2 adults paid for a Full breakfast then the kids would eat breakfast for free (They knew we had 3 kids). We had breakfast twice but on one the days they charged us and extra £5 for 1 of the kids. So when I queried this on paying the final hotel bill, I was told rather abruptly that "That is the policy, you must pay the £5". So how do you not explain the policy on check-in and how do you pay pay the charge on 1 day and not on the other day??? I wasn't going to make a huge fuss over £5 but it did leave a sour taste after such a great stay.

    « Rooms not great »

I stayed 2 nights. Upon arrival I was greeted by a lovely lady on reception with a beautiful smile. She explains everything to me, booked me in for dinner in the restaurant (reviewed separately) and gave me my key to room 123. Got to my room key kept flashing Redland wouldn't work. Back to Reception for a new key. Immediately sorted and in I go to my room. The room was spacious and clean except for a scrunched tissue found on the bedside (presumably forgotten about by the maids as everything else was spotless).I couldn't find a thermostat either but as I was comfort enough. The TV remote controls also had few working buttons. The arrows, ok and off buttons making watching TV in bed pointless. Luckily I'm not a TV fan so I wasn't too bothered. I went to the pool area before dinner. I was very impressed and surprised to see a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi as well. All of these were very clean. The pool very warm and comfortable and the jacuzzi even more so. The jacuzzi also has a button to press so no awkward sitting around people you don't know waiting for the bubbles to restart. Sauna and steam room were typically hot as supposed to be but not uncomfortably so. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in here. Only downside is there's not one of those costume dryers in the changing rooms, this would be good for people staying more than one night wanting to wear their costume again. However, plastic bags are provided so no need to carry a wet costume around if you forget to bring one. Great. I went back to my room after and of course my key didn't work again. More confusing it went green but still wouldn't allow me in. Back to reception. The lady on the desk was still smiling and very pleasant. New key back to my room. Same problem green but no entry and then I hear a click and I'm in. First night I slept like a log. Beds and pillows are so comfy. Shower was easy to use in the mornings, no faff I liked that. The second night I came back to my room, key being a pain and the maid saw me struggling she immediately came over to help. Ever so pleasant. She used her key I watched if their was a knack to it. It worked but I didn't spot anything I should have but wasn't doing. She was fabulous. I went to sleep early as I was struggling keep my eyes open. 2.30am I awoke. I could hear talking and presumed a party of people were congregated in the corridor, the noise didn't go so I got up to check, nobody there so it was coming from a room. It kept going quiet so I thought great back to sleep. From shouting and banging I decided it was coming from room 124 and shouted for them to shut up. They did quieten down but I could still hear them talking. I went back to sleep at about 4.45. I got up at 6am tired and surprised to be able to hear them still talking. The walls must be quite thin. I checked out before 7am. The man behind the desk looked fed up. He never asked if I enjoyed my stay but wished me a good day. It wasn't awful but I won't be rushing back.

    « Golf Trip »

Used the hotel as a base for a golf trip with friends. Stayed for three nights, dining in the hotel on first night only. Good reception with all rooms allocated before our arrival. Room was good with all facilities required. Evening meal in restaurant enjoyable and reasonably priced. Breakfast choice was good with serving staff very helpful. Very nice spa facilities with good size swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Only negative is that it is a good 25 min walk down the hill into Frodsham and I would not want to walk back up late at night.

    « Nice room/ bad attitude »

Nice welcome, nice room, disappointing attitude of restaurant/hotel manager when we asked for a drink at the bar. Barmaid very politely said she had to ask her manager as the bar closed at 11 pm (time 11.03 when we arrived) and when asked, manager was very abrupt with barmaid. Appearing to show off in front of table of restaurant customers she shouted across restaurant informing us that, at least this is what I think she said, we should go to the people at reception!

    « Great Hotel »

Had a one night stay here. Walking in the lobby is a little dated but clean and open. Reception staff were warm and friendly and very informative. Our double room was of a good size, main bedroom area had been recently freshened up. The bathroom looked like it had also recently been freshened up but not renewed as the bathroom was a full on peach 1970's style bath suit. Saying that tho it was still one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in a hotel, not a mark in site. Fab house keeping! As a guest you can use the leisure facilities which are very good. Pool, spa, sauna & steam room. It is used as a local leisure club, but everyone was welcoming and friendly. Great place to stay in lovely surroundings, would definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Quick trip »

Really happy with the size and quality of the room for the price we paid. There was also a spa bath which was lovely. Very clean too! the price included access to the spa facilities which this visit we didn't use but because it was so nice we are planning to go again and use all the facilities on offer. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was extra cost but well worth it. Will defo be going back soon.

« Hollie's Baby Shower at Forest Hills »

Had a fantastic day at the Forest Hills Hotel for my Daughters Baby Shower. I booked for afternoon tea and had it in the Delamere Suite with it's own private bar, with free room hire. Perfect size for our party, all the tables were set as we'd asked ready for us to decorate the room. The glasses and cutlery and crockery was sparkling. Kieron couldn't have done anymore to help us on the day, setting up extra tables and cloths, opening up the bar and making sure the aircon was cool enough, fabulous service. The food was lovely, lots of fresh sandwiches, lemon drizzle cake which was gorgeous, chocolate brownies, scones with jam & cream and plenty of tea & coffee, with added extra chips for our hungry lot. Couldn't have been any better. Elaine looked after us with the food and went the extra mile for ladies with dietary requirements and Luke took care of us all day, keeping all the girls drinks topped up and taking photographs for us. My Daughter had the most wonderful day as did all of her friends and our family, made extra special by Kieron and all the staff. Highly recommend this venue to anyone, we will be back again soon for sure. Thank you so much.

« Nice location for a hotel - but restaurant is not good »

The hotel is very nice situated in the nature on a hilltop. Nice view, nice and very well looked after outside area, big parking place. The stuff on the hotel reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and big enough, the bathroom a bit unmordern but ok so far. The leisure section was nice to have. So far from the hotel, all was okay. But the restaurant is definitely a big minus! We wanted to reserve a table for diner and we were asked not to come in a certain time as they "are busy". Okay, we wondered a bit, but we agreed. We came the time they wanted us to and a big group from a travel bus was eating in the restaurant. The group was very loud and noisy, that is not the restaurants stuffs fault. But the sit us the table closest possible to the group, in the middle of the room, even as the whole other part from the restaurant was empty. We were served unfriendly and had to wait 45minutes for the first dish. The meal was in maximum average, they forgot some things and they came later and it was not really good cooked. We would never again eat in the restaurant and we would have expected to be treated a bit nicer and getting a nicer table (one on the windows - all empty but it seems it was too annoying for them to walk so "far" to serve us). We think a restaurant in such a hotel should be able to handle a bus group and few hotel guests. The restaurant was not filed half and they were completely overwhelmed. Looking backwards, we should already not have accepted that they told us a time to come for diner. A pity.

    « Fabulous Event »

My wife and I enjoyed a great wedding celebration overlooking the River Mersey and Liverpool !! This hotel was able to create a wonderful atmosphere and great service to the new bride and groom. When strolling out on the terrace to get some fresh air we found the panorama breathe taking! Up on hills of Frodsham , we could look across to Liverpool. This is an excellent hotel to host many events and I can only compliment all the staff for their efforts! Great venue and lovely couple

    « Needs improvement »

PRO's: Nice large room... Clean and tidy... plenty of wall sockets. CON's: No air con, today's weather has been maximum 18 degrees, and the room is so hot, even with a window open there is no breeze, due to the outside of the building being of a hexagonal shape.. TV very small for size of room, would be a problem if you haven't the greatest of eye sights... Have to say the most disappointing part of the visit is the restaurant. Staff are very friendly, but the cost does not represent the quality. I have paid similar prices at top quality branded restaurants... I felt ripped off, and I am now in a position of missing out on breakfast to reduce my costs.... Would I return? Unfortunately not, purely based on the restaurant experience.

    « Cute hotel! »

I recently stayed here as I was attending a festival nearby! This hotel is situated in a beautiful location and had everything we needed! The room was great, very spacious and had everything including a safe. The staff were very helpful and the price is very cheap for what you get. A bit old fashioned but still a great spot!

« Wonderful view out of some windows. »

Food at the best mediocre and service about the same,.I suppose that a stop for a light lunch is justified by the view, but the approach is tortuous if you choose the wrong route. There is an interesting architectural feature adjacent to the garden.

Booked for a few nights with our 2 dogs whilst visiting family in the area. Our room was clean, well equipped and spacious. We had an evening meal on our first night, service was good, great choice of options on the menu and food was good, well presented. Great choice of breakfast options, again good friendly service. Dogs rec'd a welcome pack on check in with doggie biccies, a ball and a walking map of the area. Good dog walking from the hotel. All in all a great stay.

    « OK But that's about it »

Strange hotel, very dated decor that kept reminding me of the shining! I think that was the 70's look throughout the place - Staff had a sniffy attitude which was somewhat comical bearing in mind the standard and surroundings of their establishment. - would not stay there again.

    « A stay from hell! »

Slow check in, out-dates rooms, rude staff! Poor evening meal served cold what could be worse! Waited for 30 minutes for someone to turn up at the check in desk at 5pm! Where was everyone? I had emailed through prior to the stay to request a quiet room and book a table in the restaurant for that night! I got neither of my requests! I enquired when checking in if the table was booked and I was informed it was not. I went to my room which was on the first floor, no lift! At 6 months pregnant attending the hotel on my own you'd assume a staff member would offer to help but no one did. The noise coming from an event taking place was stupidly loud considering I had asked for a QUIET room. The hotel was "full" so apparently it was tough. The meal that night was vile, I waited 20 minutes to be seated as the restaurant staff were too busy in groups talking, seemingly comparing shoes! I was sat down and asked abruptly what I wanted to drink and if I was drinking any wine that night (very noticeably pregnant). I have a dairy allergy which I made the waitress aware of and she replied with "ok" that was it, 5 minutes later came back and asked if I wanted bread and butter!!! I ordered my food without much bother but when it arrived it was cold! I mentioned this to a waitress who rolled her eyes and took the meal away and EVENTUALLY bought back a properly cooked warm meal! Although the food was very bland and tasteless I was too embarrassed to ask again. On leaving the restaurant a member of management was shouting at a waitress in her face, very professional! As a business lady myself I stay in a lot of hotels around the country, this one was definitely the worst! Would not even recommend this hotel to my worst enemy! Should have however realised the lack and disgusting customer service judging by managements rude and arrogant comments on trip advisor!

« A very relaxing break in Cheshire »

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as part of a coach party. The service was excellent , start to finish, in all areas. We were greeted in a friendly manner, and our luggage arrived in our room, almost as quickly as us. The room was extremely clean, the beds very comfortable and the water in the bathroom lovely and hot. We had a lovely Mersey view from the room and the country setting made it quiet at night. We even had windows that open. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very mouthwatering. Our evening meals were just as good, - hot, tasty and well cooked. There is no lift at the hotel, but there seemed to be plenty of ground floor rooms available.

« Overnight before The Zoo!! »

My husband and I with our 19 year old son who is autistic stayed here for one night and we were very impressed by the whole package. We expected the price to be a bit steep but to be honest it only happens once a year and you cant take it with you so we indulged!!! The front of house lady was very pleasant and helpful giving us all the info we needed. The room was pleasant and very clean, the shower was huge fitting 2 people in it!!! We had room service which came fairly prompt and delivered by 2 very charming and polite young people. The young chap took an interest in Tim and explained that he had Asperger and understood Tim very well.... Top marks to that young man. We all slept well and enjoyed a very good breakfast the next day before the Gran Adventure at the Zoo! Would recommend and visit again next year. Many thanks

« FOOTBALL CLUB OVERNIGHT STAY »

It is always difficult to accommodate a Football Club, the numbers and the specific requirements, dietary arrangements, at set times, are all very important. We cannot speak more highly of this hotel managing this for us and also serving excellent quality meals as ordered and on time. Rooms were clean and tidy. Service was timely and polite, could not fault it.

Nice hotel, friendly staffs and wonderful view! The pool and Jacuzzi were brilliant, kids liked it very much! Plenty of free parking spaces! Breakfast was very good too! « Travelodge so much better!! »

Thought we would treat ourselves to a nice hotel with a spa. We had stayed in the travelodge for two nights previous and being honest should of paid £30.00 a night less to stay there. Travelodge 40 inch tv, lovely white linen sheets and fresh towels Best Western 24 inch tv, bedding with holes in and grey towels - however got to say the room was old fashioned however impeccably clean! Well done cleaners Had booked a double, went to the room two singles Overall shabby for the money

« Short Monday to Friday break »

Thank you to all the staff at the hotel from the minute we checked in everything was great and not too much trouble with the receptionist having good knowledge of the local area and things to do. It was a great hotel and location for us as a family to visit lots of attractions, and the pool was great after a long day walking around Chester zoo. Thank you and would love to be back soon.

« Not the friendliest hotel if you suffer with arthritis. No lifts, high sided bath/shower »

Nice hotel, bathroom needs a revamp very difficult to get in & out of the bath safely. There are no lifts, the pool & gym were brilliant, the bed was comfy and quite high. Breakfast was very good as was all the food we ate here. My only complaint was it was extremely hot in the restaurant every time we ate in it. The room was very hot also,

    « Surprise 40th birthday weekend »

Just back from a 40th birthday weekend for my husband - just a fantastic weekend from start to finish, nice, clean rooms, very reasonably priced bar menu for snacks, the pool facilities were perfect for the kids, party on the Saturday night ran like clockwork with attentive and friendly staff. Amazing service from the manager, event coordinator, ladies on reception, the bar staff, the night porter and everyone. Around 50 people of all different ages all went home happy and full of great memories. A great job from all the staff, thank you.

« Excellent stay had by all (inc doggie!) »

What can you say? Friendly staff, excellent food and facilities and a genuine warmth about the place even gave us a welcome pack for our pooch! Rooms are great yes the bathrooms are decidedly 80s but are perfectly serviceable and fit for use

    « Worth checking out »

Stayed here on business a few times in the last 2 years. Very well situated with nice views across the port during the summer. The rooms are of an average standard, decent furnishings. The gym and leisure area is a nice touch and well kept. Enjoyed the Hilltops restaurant when used, food is varied and generally of a good standard. Staff can seem rushed sometimes, struggling to keep up with guests on occasion. I've never had a bad sleep in the beds either so plenty to recommend it!

« Room clean, but out dated, lovely staff »

Stayed on a Mondy evening. The hotel has plenty of free parking and the check-in process was easy. We had two complimentary bottles of water and shortbread treats on arrival. The reception staff, and the restaurant staff were first rate. We used the leisure facilities. The floors and surfaces were clean but there was a general feeling amongst the group there were a few unusual aroma's. We ate in the hotel restaurant, and that was great. Wonderful views, brilliant service.

« Great weekend stay, recommended! »

Great location, great staff, hotel a bit dated, but it didn't matter as it was clean, everything worked as it should, spa facilities (included) great, only ate breakfast, but it was fantastic, staff so attentive. Location was great, with views for miles. Handy for all locations, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, North Wales, etc. Very quiet location, wedding in the hotel on Saturday night, never heard a thing. Can't fault, would definitely stay again, highly recommended.

    « Value for money »

Excellent stay, from check in quick very helpful receptionist, room very cosy, tea, coffee making with biscuits very clean, breakfast was amazing all staff from cleaners to waiting on we're all polite and helpful. Hotel could do with up dating in some parts but all good. We had a hot stone massage while we were thief with Vicky would highly recommend this the best one I have had, we didn't use the pool or jacuzzi so can not coment on this. We will be returning as had a great stay. Well done to you all

« Super stay. Wish it could have been longer. »

We had an executive room here and it was great. Clean, attractive, helpful staff. Nice restaurant serving good food. The bar served a medium range of drinks and the seating area by the bar was very eye catching. There was a wedding going on that was rather loud but this finished around 9pm so wasnt a problem. Breakfast was very nice and set us up well for the day. In my opinion there were two hiccups...after the wedding had finished the tables in the communal area were not wiped leaving us with very wet tables. The other things was no air conditioning....the room was very hot that night. It would have been nice just to have it cooled down.

    « Tom Bridge »

Room is far too hot with no air conditioning. Arrive back at hotel at 11pm and bar / restaurant is closed and locked . Ridiculous that a hotel of this size has closed its facilities to residents before midnight. Would not stay here again .

« lovely location, nice views, good rooms and great breakfast »

was lucky to be based here for a works seminar, the hotel feels homely, lovely staff throughout from the reception to the restaurant. The rooms were well laid out and comfortable, the only things lacking were air conditioning and a safe which surprised me. The food was excellent, the breakfast was a must, best eggs anywhere, but the plates are to small, helps with the diet! Nice bar and the outside seating area has some lovely views, nice place just to relax.

« Very good choice for a group »

We stayed as part of a group holiday with 36 friends. Kieran the Manager gave us his undivided attention when we arrived and sorted out any potential problems before they happened. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was mostly OK but we had a few problems with cold food and shortage of vegetables at times which is inevitable with a large group eating together. The bedrooms are all of a good size and the beds are extremely comfortable. The location of the hotel means that there is no noise at night so you are guaranteed a good night's sleep. There is a leisure club with large heated swimming pool which was very well used by locals. I would thoroughly recommend the Forest Hills Hotel for a comfortable, reasonably priced stay.

« Improvements needed on Allergy knowledge!! »

We firstly turned up to the hotel yesterday Saturday 15th, the hotel was in a lovely location with views you couldn't complain about. Check in was quick and easy with friendly staff in the reception area, however prior to coming to this hotel I wanted to book a table for their restaurant. I emailed them on 8th July to ask about booking a table which I received a quick reply from a lady which says "I have put that booking in for you.". However when we were asked by the lady at the desk about booking a meal for the night in their restaurant, it hadn't been booked?!. I also stated in the email that I have a dairy allergy so would need an additional menu, I was then reassured with an email saying "The restaurant Staff can check with the chefs on the day and advise you what would be suitable to have for your meal.". Which to some degree was right. When we firstly turned up to the restaurant at 7 (which is the time our table was booked for), we were stood around waiting to be seated for a while until we went up to two of the waitresses talking. We got seated at a window table which was beautiful and very picturesque! I looked through the menu to see what I could have then I kindly asked one of the girls who assisted us for an Allergy menu, which I got a reply back in a questioning manner saying "an Allergy menu?!" This made me feel very embarrassed to say the least!!. When the allergy menu got given to me the lady walked off and I weren't offered any help with trying to find the correct page for the menu on that night. I found it very confusing trying to find the correct page to then ask the waitress if she can find it for me which she struggled with. In the end she replied with "what is your Allergy and what would you like I will go and ask the chef if it can be changed" which I felt relieved about. The chef called Chris? was very kind and told the waitress to tell me he can change the meal for me which was great! When the meal was ordered the waitress dealing with me then asked "Would you like any bread and butter?" Which made me feel even more embarrassed and led to me questioning did she even listen to what Allergy I had?. When we had eaten the meal nobody came to our table for around 10-15 minutes which was shocking as there were a lot of waitresses on that night. I came out of the restaurant wishing I hadn't eaten there due to the utter embarrassment I felt with my allergy. Our room was great, clean, spacious and stunning. I couldn't have asked for a better room to be put in with very nice views too! All in all the room was immaculate and beautiful! The food was also cooked to perfection in the restaurant. I would love to return to this hotel however due to the utter embarrassment I felt in the restaurant it hasn't made me feel confident in wanting to do so.

    « Room with a view... »

Set in a lovely area with a great view looking over the vista of the Mersey estuary. Room very clean and the bed was so comfy with a good nights' sleep. Full English breakfast wasn't wonderful just 'okay'. Swimming pool and gym very good.

    « 5* standards at 3* prices. »

Fantastic stay in a modern, well appointed hotel close to Chester. Lovely staff and an excellent busy kitchen. The hotel boasts its own leisure centre and extensive grounds with views over the river. Even though the hotel was very busy with a large coach party there didn't seem to be any panic and the feeling was that there was plenty of space. Thank you for a wonderful if brief stay!

    « Amazing Wedding Day »

We had our wedding in June and it was a fabulous day. The hotel is in a fantastic location on the top of Frodsham Hill with amazing views across the estuary. A big thank you to Kieran, Nicole and all the staff who were so friendly, helpful and attentive in making our day even more special. The wedding ran so smoothly and every detail was spot on. Many guests commented on the lovely venue and how excellent the food was and also how much they enjoyed the day. Many many thanks, wish we could do it all again as it was so amazing x

« Everything you need for a night away »

Stayed at the hotel for one night whilst attending a wedding nearby. Booked last minute but impressed with the location and facilities. Our room was near the pool, but the smell of chlorine soon vanished as soon as we entered our room. Room perfect for our needs-tea/coffee/hair dryer etc, also a large size with comfy beds-only complaints were the pillows which were very hard and the bathroom which is in need of modernising. Staff were brilliant, happy to provide information and assisted quickly in returning some lost property. All in all a great stay, we would happily book again if we were ever in this stunning area.

    « Up a steep hill »

We stayed here for one night as we were doing the Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride, but didn't realise it was located at the top of a very steep hill! The weather was very warm and our room was incredibly hot with no A/C. For security, we kept our bikes in the room. Dinner and breakfast were very good with great views all around. Friendly and helpful staff.

    « Great hotel »

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our way home from our holiday. We arrived late afternoon Friday and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who booked us in and explained everything about the hotel facilities. We arrived in our room (97) which was right at the back of the hotel - a large room, extremely clean, very comfortable and quiet. We had access to all the leisure facilities at no extra charge and swimmimg towels had been left in our room for our use. We used the swimming pool & jacuzzi - everywhere was nice & clean, the staff in the leisure centre were very friendly and helpful. We later had a very good bar snack meal which we found great value for money. Through the restaurant we walked outside to look over the estuary, it was a lovely warm evening - again a very relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed and enjoyed a lovely breakfast served in the restaurant before we left. The staff, facilities, food & drink were all excellent.

« Bad start but just got better. »

The bad start was to be allocated a room that I wasn't happy with. The receptionist was very helpful and began sorting out an alternate room for us. I then realised that the hotel wasn't busy but as a Diamond Select Rewards member I hadn't been upgraded so asked for one but was told there would be an additional charge for this. Although they had my Reward Card details I had to mention that I was a member and was then upgraded free of charge. A small thing but it's one of the reasons I use Best Western hotels. The room I got was really good and spacious and very comfortable. Dinner that evening was very good with a good choice of food at reasonable prices with the advantage of a great view over the River Mersey from our table. Highlight of the stay has to be the breakfast. The two ladies on duty were extremely friendly and efficient. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Used plates were removed quickly without any fuss, I've stayed in some hotels where they just leave them on your table until you leave! All in all, a very good hotel I would be happy to go back to.

    « Perched on a hill top »

We needed a hotel in order to attend a funeral and were advised midweek stays were 2 night minimum, but the central booking desk gave us a discount and in the end it worked better for us to stay both nights. On the hottest day of the year the lack of aircon was frustrating but the staff quickly supplied fans and could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious, clean and I found the bed particularly comfortable. I ordered a paper but it never arrived and the hotel tried to charge me along with £5.50 for a takeaway breakfast because my wife needed to leave before breakfast was served. I found this disappointing and sloppy. The breakfast we ate in the restaurant was what you would expect. Everything was there, black pudding was awesome, mushrooms just the way I like them but greasy sausages. Overall pretty good but not exemplary. We did not use the spa facilities but they looked very good. Fantastic view and perhaps my less than generous review is because we were not there for pleasure...

« Not bad for a one night stay »

Last week we pre-booked a Saturday night stay to break our journey on our return from a break in North Wales. Having stayed in smaller, more personal hotels during our time away, we found the Forest Hills to be somewhat large, characterless and impersonal. It does however contain full leisure facilities for those who wish to partake of this. Our room (220) was large and quiet, although it was quite a trek with our luggage to get there. The bathroom was in comparison quite small, with a welcome bath and shower (although without a non-slip rubber bath mat). Our room faced woodland at the rear of the hotel, so there was no traffic noise. We did however experience early morning noise from adjoining rooms, with running water, children's voices and slamming doors. Our evening meal was surprisingly good. Having booked on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis, we were able to choose from the standard 'market' menu or the a la carte, paying for any extras as required. All drinks and wines we found to be very expensive. Breakfast was all self service (hot and cold food), but on the whole was good with a varied choice. All of the staff we encountered (especially on reception) were very friendly and helpful.

    « Friendly service »

The hotel is characterised by a very friendly and helpful staff. The room we had was a bit dated and needed an update - although it was quite comfortable and a decent size. We understand that some rooms have been refurbished so I would request one of them if possible. On a very hot night we would have liked air con! Location is good on top of frodsham hill. Excellent views from the restaurant area across the river. Breakfast pretty standard. Definitely a good place to stay.

    4
« Spacious, good service needs modernising »

Stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding, we had a family room which was huge 3 beds (2 singles and and double) with a cot bed, loads of blankets for the cot in recent hotels nothing has been supplied. Fridge very grateful for storing baby food. Room was quiet, bathroom is peach in colour and could do with an upgrade mixer tap on shower doesn't allow for a hot shower more lukewarm. Could have done with a nonslip bath mat as it's tricky to bath a wriggly baby safely without one. Amazing service from the lady at breakfast poached eggs perfect all weekend, lots of choice would like a better quality sausage for breakfast. Fast check in an out. Hotel was pretty warm in all areas but the pool was freezing.

« Excellent location, good facilities, great pool & spa »

We stayed here in May 2017, just for the one night. The hotel's position is truly amazing, with wonderful views across the river Mersey and over to Liverpool. It's very accessible from the M56 and offers good clean, no frills accomodation at a very reasonable price. Breakfast is extra per head, but well worth the money with a good selection of freshly cooked produce plus the usual array of cereals and fruit. My wife had dinner in the restaurant and was very pleased with the standard of the food as well as the service which she described as excellent. The rooms are quite small, but perfectly adequate for a night or two. The bed linen and bathroom were a high standard with the obvious signs of hving been dilligently cleaned. The swimming pool and sauna/gym complex were actually very good with clean changing rooms and lockers for clothes. The main plus with the hotel is the level of friendliness and efficiency of the staff; we couldn't fault them on any level.

    « "When is a deal not a deal" »

We have stayed at Forest Hills many times over the past 3 years and been very happy with everything.Offered deal of 2 nights B & B + evening meal for £169.Limited choice on Al a Carte menu for evening meal,we both chose the Lamb Cutlets but found that we struggled to cut them and we were unable to chew the cutlets. We both left virtually a full plate of food.At the £36 price of the two uneaten meals we felt that this turned out not to be the value deal that we expected.

    « Really nice food »

We stayed for 4 nights at the hotel as part of a coach party visiting Chester, Liverpool, etc. Nice touches were the duty manager getting on the coach when we arrived to welcome us, and similarly to say goodbye when we left. Our room was comfortable; only gripe would be with small television screen. Also beware of sensitive sensors when using shower and be sure to put shower curtain in bath. We had dinner every night and the food was tasty and plentiful. Compliments to the chef. Staff all friendly. Hotel has spectacular view of estuary and is short walk to interesting obelisk war memorial. Very peaceful surroundings. As hotel is mainly conference and wedding venue, I am not sure whether I would want to stay as independent traveller. Could feel a bit isolated.

    « A VERY COMFORTABLE STAY »

My wife and I stayed here for one night and found the reception greeted us with a smile and we were made welcome. The room was a good size and to a high standard. We had room service and all was well. We had a drink at the bar and all staff were well trained in customer service. We did not use the pool but plenty of people did. The breakfast was very good and tables attended to all the time. I wish we had found this hotel before as we have stayed in more expensive hotels and had less service. We will stay here again

    « Our wedding »

Our wedding was on 29th April, and it was fabulous. We dealt with a few lovely people over the last year, but notably Nicole, who was wonderful, really went above and beyond to answer every little random question I came up with. Everything went without a hitch (or with no hitches that I noticed!!), the food was excellent, and someone even folded up the bunting for us before we collected all the decorations on the Sunday! Had so much good feedback on the reception. Will definitely be recommending. THANK YOU again xx

« Pleasant stay, but look out for the WAGS! »

We stayed in family room (three females) while taking part in a nearby endurance event in Chester. Room was large, we had three separate beds and still plenty of floor space. Bathroom was ok but could do with a refurb. Toilet seat was broken but staff rectified this after the first night. TV kept switching on by itself which was a bit odd and spooked us out a little! Great view from the breakfast room! Staff helpful, and they made sure food was available for us on our late arrival back after our event. Check out ok, except for the pushing in by several 'WAGS' in rollers and high heel mules who decided to look down their heavily-made-up noses at us.

    « Nice hotel »

I really enjoyed our stay here just small issues really .. booked a room 2 adults 2 small children as parents of small children u pack enough stuff to last months unfortunately our room was on ground floor hotel does not have a lift so lots of buggy carrying. Felt as having children we sat in conservatory out the way not to upset other guests. Front of house staff polite and informative. Good place to stay to visit chester zoo x

« Still a great hotel to stay in this area »

Most things were as good as our first stay in 2014, our only niggles were, the safe in the room could not be accessed and although we reported this, it was not rectified during our stay. Also the jaccuzzi was not working (same as 3 years ago!) Whilst my husband is happy with the pool I do not swim so only use jaccuzzi whilst he is swimming, so I could only sit on the side watching him! My husband did mention this to the leisure centre attendant but his attitude was very flippant "not his problem"

    « Wedding »

Excellent all round Helpful and friendly staff ..nothing was too much trouble. Buffet roast was first class and the vegetarians were well catered for (especially the Bride.) Many guests stayed for 2 nights and were delighted with the accommodation and breakfasts. The hotel contributed greatly to the highly successful and enjoyable day. Highly recommended

    « Great improvement! »

Stayed a few times before and found it a bit dated, but was amazed how much it had been improved. Greeted by a nice young lady with a lovely smile. She even gave us a gift of biscuits! The room was super, very clean and had lovely fluffy towels. It was very hot during the night even though the heating was switched off. Had a nice breakfast with plenty choice. Again the staff where very friendly. On departure the same girl was on reception when we booked in. She was a trainee and had only been with them 6 weeks. She was very efficient and a great asset to them. We will have no hesitation in returning.

« Great place to stay for Checter Zoo »

We stayed here for two nights to visit Cheshire Oaks shopping centre and Chester Zoo. The hotel's in a quiet location with quite a few walks around about but within 20 minutes drive of the zoo and shopping centre. we had a great room for a family of three and the spa and pool were excellent for relaxing in after wandering about all day. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and the breakfast was good, with great views from the dining room. Would definitely stay here again if visiting this area.

« VERY VERY GOOD....repeat visit,as so good last year »

My second stay in this hotel. Last year I used it,so it just had to be choice again this year,as it will be in future years. I was in another brand hotel night before....reviewed already on here....and drove from Swansea....so to allow me bigger window to arrive I had contacted hotel few weeks before to ask for noon check in. I reached hotel around 12.30/12.45 and my room was ready.....nice, friendly staff on front desk. I had booked room only...but could add breakfast if I wished......and pay on check out. First time in ages....I was to full this morning to even think about eating breakfast. So unable to make comment...but last year it was nice...so another reason I thought only of booking this hotel for my visit again. Wi-Fi free and of good quality....unlike night before INN another brand that charges for PREM Wi-Fi and offered poor free connection.... So another reason for my liking BEST WESTERN hotels. Parking very easy when I first reached hotel...and when I got back a little after midnight. Helpful night team on desk when I got in,as I had left room number in room...and was not 100% sure of room number.....they checked and confirmed I was in 220...saved me bothering another guest had I tried to get in the wrong room...... Slept well. Bath and shower..... large kettle....if people read other reviews I write...I use a large bucket, rather than standard hotel mugs. So I would 100% wish to stay again and again and again.

« Great place to stay with toddler... »

We stayed here as a base to visit Chester city, Chester Zoo and surrounding areas. Family room was perfect for family stay...plenty of room for toddler to potter in room when we weren't out and about. Restaurant staff couldn't have been more accommodating for breakfast and dinner. Kids welcome pack was a nice touch on check in. Swimming pool was clean, as we're changing rooms, separate pool for babies, but was quite cold (little one was shivering!) so unfortunately we didn't stay in that long...

    4
    « Short stay »

Our stay was short but pleasant. It was quite difficult to find as the signs and sat nav didn't help at all. It got us in the region of the hotel but we had to ask someone as we drove around for a while. When we arrived staff were friendly and helpful.

« Superb Dog Friendly Hotel »

We stayed there for 3 nights from 12 April and cannot rate this hotel highly enough. At check in you get an envelope with dog titbits, a ball. The rooms are of a good size and spotlessly clean. Admittedly the toilets are a bit dated but again spotless. When we booked for dinner the receptionist said she would look after our dog if she did not settle in the room but the dog settled fine. The quality and quantity of food was very good. Overall a very good stay.

    « Very good hotel »

We have just had a fantastic stay at the Forest hills from when we arrived the receptionist Michelle could not do enough to make us feel welcome, the room was very good and to our surprise we even had a balcony (shame the weather was awful) the views around the hotel are superb and the food in the restaurant was excellent, we were served by Ebony who again did a great job. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!

    « Wouldn't rush back »

We booked 2 rooms for bed, breakfast and evening meal with use of the pool and gym. When we got into our room there was a razor left behind in bathroom obviously not cleaned out by cleaners and in the other bathroom there were fake eyelashes on the floor. The pool was grubby and didn't seem clean at all so used that once and never went back down there even though the steam and sauna room seemed okay. Evening meal was okay, we were the only ones in the restaurant so quick service. Then breakfast the next morning was average too! Lovely surroundings and lovely scenery.

    « First impression ............ »

Just returned from a fabulous weekend at this wonderful hotel. It was a relatives wedding and it was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were friendly obliging and very professional in all areas. The meal on Saturday evening which had been preordered was beautiful, the wedding breakfast was superb and the hog roast was something so different. Breakfast was plentiful and if there is any criticism to make it would be that there was too much fat on the breakfast. The rooms are very comfortable with lots of pillows and extra blankets if needed. Housekeeping were lovely and kept the rooms very clean. Any issues are dealt with immediately. I was very impressed with the whole weekend and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Forest Hills to anyone who asked. Thank you to the lovely manager who took all the leg pulling in good spirits. She was lovely and was there for most of the weekend, even supervising the staff at our meal on Saturday. I'm sorry I didn't get your name. Keep up the good work guys, you are doing a grand job.

    « An Enjoyable Stay »

This hotel is a great base for visiting Chester and the surrounding area. We used to stay here regularly many years ago before the hotel was a Best Western so were interested to see if it had maintained its good standard. Overall it had although there is always room for improvement. We had our four year old grandson with us so booked a family room (91) which was spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The bathroom had been updated with a large double shower instead of a bath which we were happy with. There was no view but, as we were only in the room to sleep, that didn't bother us! The stairway leading to the room is in need of decoration. We opted for a bar meal both evenings rather than an a la carte meal but still ate in the restaurant. The food wasn't exceptional but was ok. The big disappointment was the sticky toffee pudding which arrived in a small cereal type bowl with no cream or ice cream and reminded us of school dinner desserts! Nowadays, most restaurants present desserts more impressively and include additions like or cream or ice cream and a fruit garnish. Breakfast both mornings was good. The staff at our all our meals were excellent, being extremely friendly, lovely with our grandson and working enthusiastically. We made use of the pool area which was as good as we remembered it. A lovely way to chill after a long day walking around the zoo! We would return to Forest Hills if visiting Chester again and feel we received good value for money.

    « Enjoyable as ever »

Lovely stay in great location, as enjoyable as ever- though was disappointed that the bar and snack bar has now closed. Was always a great spot to chill after the pool. Not the same sitting in reception.

    « Not impressed »

I booked this hotel as it is a preferred chain for my company, on arrival the staff seemed friendly enough, checked in ok, wandered down to my room along corridors that really need a facelift. Room ok but quite basic and dated. Used the pool and sauna which were good. The main issue that I find hard to understand was the restaurant closing at 9 and breakfast not open till 7, not particularly useful to a business traveller.

    « Terrible »

Stayed one night in room 93. Room overheated as faulty radiator would not turn down. Opened window to cool down , however as there is a loud generator unit under window, this also kept the whole family awake. Not suitable room for a family. Also toilet would not flush. Went to reception and after a search by night staff at 3.00 am we were moved to another room which was just as stuffy as the first , although radiator did turn off, the pipe feeding the radiator was extremely hot. Very frustrated, had a busy schedule planned for the next day, which after the whole family having approx 2 hrs sleep was a washout. Unable to sleep. Refused to pay for the night. Manager apologetic and said she would email me within 24hrs but nothing received as yet.

We, a group of artists, held an event day in the Overton Suite on Saturday and right from a pre-booking visit last year, the staff at Forest Hills could not have been more friendly and helpful. On the day, nothing was too much trouble. We could not fault the lunch, which was served delicious, hot and beautifully presented. The Overton Suite has spectacular views over the Mersey Estuary, so the nice weather helped us to enjoy that. A great place to hold an event! Thanks to everyone involved at Forest Hills, you were amazing!

We have stayed several times, always good service, room and meals. A travelling companion is disabled and every facility is there as needed. The hotel has a fitness and leisure centre (not tried) and function suites for meetings/parties etc. The view from the dining room although panoramic takes in the ship canal and a petro-chemical works so not that inspiring, otherwise excellent.

« Stayed just one night, wish we could have stayed more »

We booked this hotel as we were travelling up from Hampshire for a wedding nearby. I tried to book online but it appeared the hotel was full, so called the central reservations team who were very helpful and confirmed that the hotel could accommodate myself, my husband and 10 year old Daughter in an executive room. On arrival, after a longer than anticipated journey, we were greeted by two very professional, but friendly receptionists who quickly booked us a table for dinner in the restaurant and suggested we may want to spent some time in the spa to relax. On arrival in our room, we were blown away by the size of it, very roomy even with a double sofa bed that had been made up for our daughter to sleep in. The bathroom was lovely, clean, fresh and large, with a walk in shower and jacuzzi bath. The view from the room was beautIful, overlooking the Mersey, with Liverpool in the background. The spa was very relaxing, and just what we needed after a horrible journey. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely, and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was good, especially the seafood platter to start. Wine was well priced, and we enjoyed a nice bottle of Malbec with our dinner. Breakfast was buffet style and all cooked very well, and very tasty. We were very, very impressed with all the staff at the hotel who were all polite, professional and friendly. The room was very nice, comfortable and well maintained. Only one very small negative - my Daughter wasn't very happy that there was no hot chocolate in the room! We would definitely like to visit again, but hopefully without the 5 hour car journey next time!

« Cheap as a Premier Inn but sooo much better »

As the local premier Inn to Oulton Park prices have gone up I revisited this hotel which I used many years ago when I worked in Warrington The place hasn't changed ( yes it has been decorated) Friendly staff, great facilities, good rooms I shared a twin room with my son and the single bed wasn't great but I slept well Breakfast was plentiful The Staff make this place special

Stayed here one night family of 4. Staff very friendly and helpful , rooms nice and big two single beds and one double very comfy. Kids enjoyed pool ,sauna, steam room and hot tub. Breakfast was good and plentiful. would recommend and definitely go back again. Thanks for a great stay.

    « hedgelaying weekend »

The hotel is on a small lane about 5 minuets from the town with a countryside feel to it A modern building on the top of a hill with good views toward the Mersey. The accommodation was good food was also of a good standard The Staff were first rate and really made the place. The only let down, to me, was the Bar and a lack of real ale hence the mark of 4 and not 5 but there are some good local pubs not that far away. I should also add that some of the competitors used the pool and found it fine. We had booked the entire hotel and the staff did a great job feeding a lot of hungry hedge layers .

    « Weekend stay »

Stayed here as part of planned weekend with many others. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was comfortable but average. Wet room soaked the whole floor when used and did not drain away, making it slippy. The food, especially breakfast was well above average and very tasty and well presented. Slightly out of the way but may suit those wanting peace and quiet. there were Gym and pool facilities.

    « Coffee time »

We stopped here on Saturday morning for coffee, expecting to be able to sit somewhere looking out over the beautiful Cheshire countryside. No such luck - the room with the panoramic view had just been cleaned and no one was allowed in there. We had to make do with sitting in the foyer - no view and tired furnishings. Coffee was horrible, but consistent with the coffee we have had at other Best Western hotels. We were assured it was filter coffee but it tasted like a cheap powder version. You wouldn't think it was that difficult to produce a nice cup of coffee.

Where to start? Stayed here whilst attending a wedding on 29th October. Bedroom was great, Bathroom great; huge bath. Wedding was great, food throughout the day first glass. All staff from wedding co-ordinator through wait staff and bar staff were fantastic super attentive. Nothing at all to fault, thank you

« Good hotel, shame about the noise and food. »

The hotel is nice and the room was clean and pleasant to stay in. The complimentary use of the on-site pool facilities is a great bonus. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. However the lack of a single vegetarian main course on the menu at the restaurant is unacceptable in this day in age; even a simple pasta dish would suffice. Also due to a wedding that was taking place at the hotel on the night of my stay it was quite noisy which made it difficult to get to sleep. I would like to award a higher rating but due cannot due to the two reasons mentioned.

« Bed, breakfast and evening meal »

Very welcoming hotel, room clean and surprisingly spacious. The bathroom was quite large and well stocked with shower and bathing products. The evening meal was extremely good with very attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast also was well presented with a huge variety of both cooked and fresh produce. Highly recommended.

    « excellent location,great view »

As in the other reviews the hotel is slightly dated in the bathroom could do with a make over,(a little to pink)stayed with our dog Ruby she was very well looked after with a goody bag on arrival and she took a liking to our cleaning lady The staff were all very welcoming and polite nothing was to much trouble, breakfast was very generous and shirley was just lovely the evening meals were a very high standard we didnt eat anywhere else during our stay we had some brilliant walks the views are something else overall a very good stay we will stay again.

« Nice location and view at the hotel with good facilities »

Just like the other reviewers suggested, the hotel is slightly outdated but otherwise everything is in good orders and work as expected. We booked for two family rooms but one of the family room bathroom was completely old fashioned and the tab was broken. So not all the rooms are consistently the same quality. Breakfast was fairly ok, has got fresh, hot and cold selection and all the usual drinks supply tea, coffee, juice, water. One of the waitress served breakfast in the morning was quite rude and very watchful with everyone and everything. There was a Polish waitress who worked along with this rude English waitress, the Polish waitress was very nice, easy going and able to serve breakfast with great smiles and easy attitudes... she puts us at ease without feeling difficult or stressed. We appreciated of her services. The overall staying was pleasant and don't mind to return if we will be closed by the area again. They were not particularly cheap as such, it happened that we need to be around that area as a family visit and it has all the family facilities that we liked so we stayed there. One last thing which was not acceptable, we checked in on time but they kept us delayed for over 2 hours and we had to sit and wait around and visited a local supermarket, by the time we got back to the hotel they still told us that the room was not available for two family rooms we were very surprised at the lengthy time that we had to wait..... They did not compensate for the delayed that they cause us to check in our rooms, we were quite annoyed with that.

« OK but watch out for the vibrating room »

We stayed here for one night. The hotel is a little dated (my daughter liked the pink bathroom suite) and worn in places. However the staff are lovely and the facilities are great. Get down to breakfast early as food runs low (and is not replaced) towards the end. When we booked, a long time in advance, we had requested a quiet room as we had reason to really need good sleep. This was noted again on check-in and we were given a room well away from the various functions BUT above/near some serious machinery which caused the whole room to vibrate! The vibration was so bad anything on surfaces would shake/rattle and it may me slightly nauseous standing on the floor bare footed. One member of staff told us it was above the plant room, another disagreed. We were informed the machines may go off at 10.30pm, back on at 7am with periods during the night is it got cold. Their advice: use ear plugs (which they supplied so must be a frequent problem), and drink alcohol so you don't notice!! The hotel was full but we were, begrudgingly offered an executive room "if we can fit and extra bed in and its a long way away to take all your stuff". We were shattered and didn't want to make a fuss so stayed put. I think the tiredness saw us through the night. So, if you book a family room we'd advise you to AVOID room 93 (the others near it may be affected but we don't know) unless you and your family enjoy a vibrating experience!

    « Lovely Hotel »

Stayed here recently following a trip to Chester Zoo and we really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of parking and we were able to go straight to the pool for a swim which was good size. We also used the Jacuzzi pool and Sauna which I would definately recommend. We even went back in the pool again before breakfast, and when I rang reception to ask if we could have some fresh towels they were delivered to the room in a few minutes, very impressive! We didn't venture out of the hotel ate in the restaurant. There is nothing in walking distance nearby that I saw. I initially returned my first meal to the kitchen and asked for the steak instead which was absolutely fantastic. All staff at the hotel where very friendly but in the restaurant I was surprised I had to ask for a steak knife and no one come over over to check everything was ok once our food had been brought out. The hotel itself does look a little dated, but it is not worn, this didn't bother me and I liked the pictures of what the area used to be like. The room was lovely, a nice size and there was a balcony which I thought was a nice touch. The only thing which let it down was the cheap toilet paper! I would definatley stay here again if I was in the area.

    « Fantastic stay »

I stayed here for three nights whilst working in Cheshire or Liverpool and it was a perfect stay! The room was warm, very comfortable and clean and the food was very tasty! Every meal is carefully prepared and cooked to perfection; even the fruit salad in the morning was the nicest one I have ever tasted. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. I looked forward to getting "home" every night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone for whatever reason you wish to stay.

« Good price, good hotel, brilliant pool! »

Went for a weekend trip with my partner and loved it. The pool is brilliant, free to use with sauna, steam room, hot tub and gym. Very child friendly. Comfortable room, a little bit old fashioned in places but the price, atmosphere and amenities make up for that! All my requests when booking were met too. The local town is also really nice. Nice pubs and restaurants. Looking forward to returning again next year!

    « Definitely recommend »

This was our second stay as a family and our experience has been delightful. Family rooms are spacious and immaculate, and children are adequately catered for both at breakfast and from the evening menu. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and we felt welcome. Will certainly return next time we are in the area.

    « Gangsta Night »

We booked this for a Saturday night only at a very good price. Limited rooms due to two functions going on. We were given a triple family room, which had ample space. We arrived around 6:00pm. There was a wedding party in one of the function rooms and a gangster themed murder mystery in the large dining room. We immediately got a good vibe as soon as we arrived. Our receptionist was very friendly and helpful and booked us for dinner. Very apologetic that they had a limited menu. We would have to have the themed night special menu, which was fine with us. We went to the large pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, which was virtually empty. By 8:00pm we had the whole place all to ourselves even though the hotel was packed. Ready for dinner at 9:00pm and the barman/waiter was an absolute hoot. He knew our names and was so on the ball. He took an interest in us (being from down south, London and Bristol). We were chatting to all the bar staff and at one point I think we had an audience of 7 members of staff! ( I think they must of though we were a celebrity couple from the south!) We felt so special and appreciated. As I said initially, the hotel just had this incredible vibe that we tuned into. I don't know if it's a Liverpool thing or the great morale of all the staff. This special night has been very memorable. Breakfast the next day, the dining room was heaving. I know that everyone tends to arrive late on a Sunday morning but it didn't bother us at all. Service was great and with a smile

    « Gangster Nite/golf weekend »

Large room 2 single beds & (small) double 2 sofas large coffee table fridge in room, great for chilling the prosecco ! good weekend, Saturday, meal#murder mystery# fancydress#DJ#dancing# food was good, entertainment great fun... Breakfast we had omelette which was cooked to order, hot & tasty, we were a party of 28 some others complained that breakfast was cold, service slow, they seemed under pressure & short staffed ! but the staff were polite & helpful. Sour note !! bottle of wine £17.00 you always expect to pay a premium in Hotels which I don't mind, but the quality was awful !! Little choice of whisky (Bells) which strips the enamel off your teeth ! Jameson would of been most welcome sight behind the bar. Very annoying you can buy a nice Hardys shiraz in Macro for 4 quid a bottle, the buying power of a large hotel chain like Best Western should review their alcohol purchasing policy.

    « Wedding bargain deal! »

The hotel and staff were great for our one night stay for a friends wedding at Forrest Hills. Got a cheap deal as we booked in advance, but for that we got a big spacious room with four beds! Breakfast was alright as well so can't complain! For the price we paid it was a real bargain and enjoyed our stay.

Thank you very much for a wonderful overnight stay..

    « Business Trip »

The hotel is clean and modern. Food is good although a room service tray with no condiments when they charge a 20% surcharge seems unusual, and the 20% seems a little high just to put the food on a tray and bring it to your room. Also, be aware that they have a 2% surcharge if you use a credit card to pay for your stay.

    « No complaints »

Visited here for 3 nights in September 2016. Didnt cost me anything as it was on business expenses but having looked at the prices online id say it was good value for money ! Rooms are spacious with tv ! Hairdryer supplied also. Could have done with a thicker pillow but I used 3 together which was just about ok. Cleaned every morning Food was delicious and plentiful , breakfast buffet didn't fail to impress with freshly cooked eggs to order. Free to use snooker tables , you do pay for lights tho £1 for 20 mins. Gym and pool facilities were also available to use. Pleasant stay and a decent sleep

    « Terrible - Horrendously Noisy »

We booked the room for a Saturday night well in advance as my partner was attending an assessment day for the police starting early on the Sunday morning. Myself and my 19 month old toddler were also staying so upon booking we requested a family room with a cot. When we got to our room, it seemed ok until approx 6.30pm when excessively loud music began playing. The wedding venue room was DIRECTLY opposite our room, and only had a curtain separating it from the main corridor, and our room was approx. two feet from this. The music continued into the early hours, along with noise from the DJ, serving staff and drunk wedding guests. This was completely inappropriate for a FAMILY room as none of us were able to sleep. Why we were not informed that there was a wedding booked for this night and told of the proximity of our room to the disco when we booked the FAMILY ROOM, I have no no idea. If we had been told that it was likely to be noisy we would not have wasted our money and would have booked a suitable hotel. I complained to reception but this got me nowhere. On top of this, the kettle was broken and the wifi was very poor. Absolute disgrace. I would strongly discourage anyone from staying here.

    « Cheshire hills »

I picked this hotel mainly because of location as we were heading from Surrey to isle of Man, and needed an overnight stay before catching the morning ferry. However I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was; although definitely need a satnav to find it.The room was large enough for me and my two sons with plenty of space for them to play. The swimming pool was inside the main hotel, and very convenient for me with small children. it was big enough for adults to do their lengths, while the kids play. The restaurant had great views over the Mersey estuary, and we saw the Red Arrows practising, and the food selection was good with plenty of choices for children and adults. overall would definitely recommend it.

    « Wine evening »

I have been to this hotel a few times on the wine evenings. the staff are friendly and helpful. The selection of the wines were very good as there was a speaker with some information on each wine. The resturant had a good atmosphere during the meal there was a singer who was good in the background. The food was very nice should you require an alternative to the set menu with good notice the hotel will accommodate in my case I don't eat cheese and a suitable alternative was arranged for me. The only problem with the wine evening and dining was that the guest bar was inside the resturant , maybe Mr. Owner can look at this and place the bar for the guest when events like this are on has luck had it the guest where not noisey On entering the resturant for breakfast I noticed a sign stating the dress code for breakfast was as follows no pyjamas no onesies are allowed in the resturant , we laughed . The breakfast had a good selection and hot and well served the tea however was stewed. what we like best about this hotel is that they allow to take your dog with you for a small fee per night and the dog gets a welcome doggie bag with treats. That is a nice touch. Should you be staying at this hotel for the first time the hotel car park is untidy and by no means a reflection of the hotel . Maybe Mr Owner could look at this. The watchful Owl

If your visiting the Cheshire area.you will not go wrong booking into the Best Western Hotel. The staff here are very helpful, polite. The rooms are very clean and fresh, and the bed was absolutly great for a good night sleep, no noise to bother you, all the facilities you need in your room, and if you there is something you need just let them know what you require, the staff are only to glad to help you. there are other facilities for those who are more energetic, pool and gym. My friend and I only stayed for one night, but we were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms are( NON SMOKING ), thank god. We had breakfast included at £6.50 for continental,£10.50 for cooked. and very nice too, nothing like a full English when youv'e been partying. The view from the restaurant is lovely believe me. The room was a double, and I was charged £96 for a couple per night. If im ever staying in Cheshire, I would recommend The Best Western. check it out , read the reviewes and look at the pics . Have an excellent stay.... Oh before I submit this review. your not far from the Historic town of Chester lovely day out , and Chester Zoo. Ask at reception for details, Frodsham Town has an open market, shops, bars, restaurants, nice day out.

« Sort out the wifi!! »

The leisure facilities are of an excellent standard, the views from the restaurant are spectacular and the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. I had a room on the bottom floor quite far from be reception and my only gripes are that the shower was appallingly weak, a real trickle which is a pity as the room was excellent. And the wifi... It's 2016. Wifi is depended on these days and is expected to be a decent strength and signal in the rooms, particularly for business stays. It's terrible here, if I could get a signal it's weak and keeps dropping out. Very frustrating when you're attempting Skype or exchanging emails. I also stream to

The excellent leisure facilities included in the price made the rate we paid an absolute bargain. All the staff are professional, friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble to make our stay perfect. We especially appreciate the time taken to accommodate our son's requests, in particular by the manager who went out of his way to make our 9 year old feel like a special and valued guest. « Fantastic stay for sons birthday »

Stayed here for 3 nights for my sons 2nd Birthday trip- we wanted to visit the aquarium, Cheshire oaks, zoo and safari park and this hotel was ideally located to do all of this-20 minutes from each of them in the car. Hotel is in a beautiful setting with a great view. It is a bit dated if you are used to uber modern accommodation but we thought it was charming. Rooms spacious and clean- although we could not turn off the heated rowel rail in the bathroom which left us very hot for our stay. Ate in the snack lounge one evening and food was well priced and tasty. Overall a good base for a Cheshire visit and we would recommend.

    « Great family hotel »

Stayed here for one night with our 3 children in a family room. Excellent location with ample parking. The room was perfect for our needs. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast the next day was excellent, no charge for the children either. Again, the breakfast staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was very good value and we would most certainly stay again. The only reason it doesn't get 5/5 is because the room was hot due to the weather and the air conditioning struggled.

First visit and we wer greeted and treated like royalty! Christian welcomed us and we had the lounge all to ourselves. There was a Wedding going on and it was busy but all the staff we spoke to were brilliant. The food was good too and the cakes fantastic. Well done to all staff.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Only regret is that I didn't get chance to try the airbag! But we will be back one day to try it out. Thank you so much to all the staff for everything they did for us., We had an amazing day and everyone was great.

We are staying here as a family of 4 two adults and two kids. The hotel is situated on a hill looking over the mersey , very nice views. The family room we had was large and clean but was really stuffy even with the windows open it was too hot so no one had a good sleep. We walked into Overten which is about 15 mins down a steep hill and visited a lovely pub called the Cock o Bells. The walk back up with hard but do able! The pool is a good size with a hot tub snd steam room and sauna.all accessible to the kids aswell as long as they not under 5 and supervised by an adult. the changing rooms are very dated and basic and a bit grubby. The breakfast was lovely. Hotel is in great location about 10 min drive from Go ape Delemere which was amazing fun Would recomnend if sorted the air con out

    « Begging for retirement »

Stayed at this hotel last minute choice as we were going into Liverpool for the weekend and wanted to be outside the centre (half an hour out) plus it's a lot cheaper as the centre costs over £100 without breakfast. I think the room I booked (got stuck with) seemed to be the only room left available. It was a twin room... So me and my partner slept on a single bed each.. Not really what you want. I paid £112 in the end with breakfast for the pleasure of NO sleep whatsoever. Our room was on the ground floor, which must also be where the laundry, ovens, sauna and steam rooms are because the temperature is diabolical. As soon as you walk down the stairs you can feel the heat change and you are greeted by a stale strange smell. There was one quilt for each bed, which was heavy and thick. No air con, also no mini fridge so if you wanted a drink in the night because of the heat, your drink would also be warm. PLUS NO VENDING MACHINES ANYWHERE TO BUY ONE!!?!??!?!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Upon entry to the room I noted that it had been an obvious "lazy" cleanup job. They had made sure it looked OK on a glance but when we looked closer things were not clean. Glass on tabletops had still got stains from the last people in here, the bottoms of the mugs were not clean and the bathroom floor was so dusty in the corners. The bathroom suite is something my nan would have had in the 50's. I mean there's vintage and then there's just needing to update your hotel. This was not vintage, it looked dire. The shower was so powerful it actually hurt sensitive parts of your body and it's almost impossible to change the temperature. FUNNY part was there is a sign on the back of the bathroom door asking you to close the door after showering to "reduce false fire alarms" but our bathroom door didn't fit in the frame and could not be closed at all. Luckily a towel under the doorframe stopped any false alarms, the extractor fan is fairly useless, the heat in there was unbearable after showering. Trying to sleep in this room being on the ground floor was impossible. There were 2 weddings on at the hotel (so lots of drunk guests) walking as we found out, past our windows to get to their cars or rooms at the back. Having to have the Windows wide open due to the heat, we had to listen to these noisy people all night. The only thing I can say for this hotel is that the breakfast was decent. The breakfast staff are friendlier than the others and there's a nice choice of stuff, could be more on the hot options though. And bigger plates, some people don't want to keep going back up and would like to fit more than a spoonful on their plate at once. Went out into Liverpool for dinner, when we returned we wanted a drink or so at the bar before returning to our rooms, we asked on reception if there was a bar and they pointed it out to us, it was already closed up at 10:00pm on a Saturday night... So we went to bed. Would not return unless it's renovated. Definitely not worth the money at all. The heat of the room also made my partner very ill during the night. Have included some fab pictures from our stay.

« Beautiful Setting and great value »

This hotel is set in beautiful countryside and was great value for our one night stay with our Grandchildren. The family room was a good size and well laid out. Beds not as comfortable as some hotels, but not bad.The staff were friendly and helpful and the pool was a bonus for the children. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant was very attractive with great views. A very good deal and I would certainly go back. I totally recommend the hotel.

« Excellent staff and service »

Hotel in a nice rural location with lovely views from the dining room. Staff were, without exception very friendly and polite. Had a small dog with us and the staff gave us a little present for her, a nice gesture, large grounds outside to walk in. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The only small thing was the bathroom, which was rather dated, having a shower curtain over the bath, but it was clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent, we ate there on both evenings and the staff were very attentive. A very nice hotel, with lovely friendly staff, would definitely visit again.

« Lovely hotel and friendly staff »

Kids loved the pool and jacuzzi, and the friendly staff. Meals were good and beds were exceptionally comfortable - kids struggled to get out of bed but the promise of a nice cooked breakfast and a swim persuaded them. Also, the hotel has the best views of the Mersey and countryside possible.

    « Another lovely stay »

We normally stay at this hotel at Christmas as we drive from Surrey to Glasgow. As we were travelling up to Cumbria for our holiday we decided to break the journey. We got am excellent rate and even more discount for being Best Western account holders. Again a lovely welcome and nice view from our room over the Estuary. We will probably stay again in December and would highly recommend.

    « Love the views »

Great location on a sunny day, can see for miles from the hill top. I do like this hotel, staff are always really friendly and happy. Breakfast is good and rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The executive rooms have better views and bigger bathrooms for a few quid extra.

I booked in here the night before my wedding with 7 bridesmaids. The hotel were amazing! They couldn't do enough for us! There was a party going on in the conference room across the hall from us and A staff member called Bob really kindly allowed us to move downstairs so we could all rest I disturbed the night before the big day- amazing! I was so happy with the service and everything that nights stay- very clean and professional! They had also agreed a great rate for anyone staying the following night after the wedding. So lots of our friends and family booked in. Possibly about 15-20 rooms. Some were told they could check in early, some were (apparently quite rudely over the phone) told they definitely couldn't, which surprised me as all my dealings had been greeted so positively, it seemed very shocking. On the night we came back after the wedding is when the problems began. About half the guests, including me and the groom, could not get into our rooms as the key cards didn't work. We were eventually, after an hour broken into our room. 2 other guests were given tools and told to break in themselves! One of my bridesmaids never got a room as there was some inexplicable mix up. Her and her partner had to sleep in someone else's room that night without their belongings which were locked in another room. It was ridiculous! The next day the receptionist tried to charge them for the room they never stayed in, and very unprofessionally stated "this isn't my fault". I'm a bit disappointed overall as it really did seem that it depended on the staff whether we got a good service or not. It's a really fantastic hotel, with awesome leisure facilities and food. I would still recommend it, but wanted to give honest feedback as it really upset some of our friends who just wanted a good nights sleep!

« Great location but disappointing room »

Great location but I was allocated a disabled room which was not necessary and the bed was very hard so I woke up with a bad back . However checkin was very good so was diner and breakfast . Did not like the extra charge for paying by credit card. Totally unnecessary . Put another pounds on room rate rather than putting extra charge would be better.

« Family weekend for CarFest »

We stopped in a family room for 3 nights to visit Car Fest North. The welcome was very friendly - had forgotten toothpaste and got given full tube on Colgate free, not the usual 10ml size to just do the evening - and children got "goody bags" which always goes down well. Breakfast was well up to the standard I would expect for this price range of hotel, good buffet and eggs cooked to order so they were fresh. Reception had indicated children ate free, but ours were £5 each (and even as 3 and 4.5 year olds they got very good value for money at that!!) which was fine. Managed to leave children's toy (and, it transpired, some children's clothes) which were promptly sent on as hotel said they knew how much children cherished some cuddly toys! Also got follow up email from manager. Have stayed in some very grand places (pre children !) but couldn't fault staff service standards here.

« Great Hotel For Families »

Stayed overnight with my children before a trip to Chester Zoo last week, think they would have been happy to skip the zoo and stay in the hotel all day! The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, the pool and spa were very good and bonus points for having a couple of very good snooker tables, breakfast was lovely too. Best part of the hotel were the staff, friendly and attentive, which is an ideal combination for working in a hotel. I was very impressed and wouldn't hesitate in staying again.

Great hotel - seemed old but very well maintained and modernised. Staff were very helpful and professional. Breakfast was very good. My room was exceptionally spacious, clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

« Decent hotel, let down by boiling hot rooms »

We stayed in one of the family rooms for 1 night. The room itself was very clean and tidy but did not have any air conditioning which made our stay very uncomfortable as both us and the kids could not get a decent night sleep due to the heat in the room (The temp outside was only 14C) so they next day we had a couple of very grumpy kids! The hotel has a very good gym and swimming pool which we took advantage of to relax after a long drive. Breakfast was included, it was OK but nothing special as some of the items were a little dried and sad looking - coffee was good though. Its a decent hotel but letdown by the lack of air-conditioning in our room.

« Beautiful views & very friendly staff »

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a coach trip. The hotel is in urgent need of a refurbishment - very shabby looking. Not sure when our room last saw a hoover, but the staff were so friendly, nothing was a problem and always smiling. The evening meals weren't great but breakfast was tasty. Overall a friendly hotel!

    « Sunday carvery »

We went tho forest hills for a Sunday roast, the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and the food was lovely. They even managed to fill my husband - which is no easy thing to do!! :-) The price eas very reasonable for the amount of food you got.

    « Wedding evening »

This hotel is local to us and my husband is a member of their leisure club. A party of 15 of us dined and stayed the night after our son's wedding. Not having dined here since Best Western took over we didn't know what to expect but the hotel has an excellent reputation locally. We found this was fully deserved. Our meals were excellent and the staff pleasant and efficient. We all stayed overnight and our rooms were lovely. Spotlessly clean and everything we needed..Our room was interconnecting with our grandsons aged 14 and 16 which was ideal. Breakfast was good and plentiful. I just wish we could do it all again!.!!

    « Room with a 'Mersey' view »

Just a one night stopover and yet we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Decent rooms and ours with a fabulous view over the Mersey. Breakfast was top rate with everything you would expect. There a popular spa, which we didn't use, and the area is great for cycling, which we did take up. The staff didn't mind that we a little late checking out. A good stay.

    5
    « A lovely stay. »

Staff were splendid - welcoming reception and fabulous breakfast with a great view over the Mersey. Room was quiet and comfortable. Plenty of parking available. We would definitely return in the future.

« Great staff, good location, lovely stay. »

Staff were fantastic and so helpful throughout. Great pool - our son cried when we were leaving hotel! Super location for Chester zoo, Cheshire oaks and aquarium, good sized room. Modern double shower. As we have 2small children we ordered room service - I wouldn't recommend the food unfortunately as it didn't live up to rest of hotel experience (we didn't complain as everything else was spot on) - really does need to improve though. We would definitely return here - a lovely stay.

« great hotel great staff great price »

We stopped off at Forest Hills on the way to a holiday in Wales. The hotel was lovely and dog friendly, not only that they were actually very welcoming to dogs providing us with a little dog treat bag. They also did room service at a very reasonable price and the food was lovely. Worth knowing the room service staff are able to take tips in cash, not really done that before so i had to ask and felt a bit silly. The hotel had good facilities the rooms were nice and clean and it was in a fantastic location. We had a nice walk into Frodsham where we visited some lovely pubs. Would definitely return. Frodsham is a really nice village. The staff were all really nice and friendly too.

« One of the best Cheshire Hotels »

I had never heard of Frodsham and I booked this hotel as a last resort due to other choices being fully booked. What a great surprise. The hotel is situated with great views over the Mersey, it is amazingly quiet - which is great after a day's work and the food was perfect. The only downer was that it was fully booked so I couldn't stay a second night !!!!!

    « Excellent customer care »

We are a small charity that provides help and support to families affected by a rare, debilitating condition. Last weekend, some of our families and staff stayed at the Best Western Forest Hills Hotel during a group outing to Chester Zoo. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for an enjoyable stay; all the staff were very helpful and considerate, enabling the families to relax in comfort. It can be difficult to find accommodation for a group with the particular needs of our community but this was certainly not the case with your hotel; from arrival to departure, nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly recommend the hotel and would be delighted to return to the Best Western Forest Hills Hotel in the future.

    4
« NIce hotel, good value for money. »

Nice hotel, spectacular views but needs air-conditioning in the rooms as they can get a little warm. The wall fans in the rooms are rather 1970's and are too noisy to leave on at night-time. All the staff are excellent and welcoming and the hotel has good amenities and is very clean. Overall good value for money.

    3
« Lovely hotel spoilt by noise »

We love staying in Forest Hills, especially because of the excellent swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room. However there was so much noise this time from some machinery outside the room that we could not sleep. The irony was that I had requested 'a quiet room'. I would rate it very good or excellent if it were not for tthe noise.

    5
    « Very enjoyable »

We were very impressed with our visit to Forest Hills, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the reception staff. Our children were made feel very welcome which included giving them a welcome pack and it was a lovely relaxing time. The only slight issue we had was that considering the high standard of food we as adults received, the children's pizzas seemed to be just a basic 'microwave variety' type. We certainly would return here again in the future and highly recommend it!

« Perfect for large families »

This is my first review of any hotel! As a family of 5 it is so difficult to find hotels which accommodate all of us in one room. This hotel had a double bed, 2 single beds and a pull out double sofa bed with plenty of room to spare! The staff were very friendly, the room extremely clean. The leisure facilities were good, maybe need an update but all in all a pleasure to stay. Frodsham is lovely

« Nice Food in Restaurant, but dated Bedrooms »

The hotel is on the top of Frodsham Hill and has great views over The River Mersey. The gym was very good, it had all the equipment that I'm used to and the staff were helpful. The pool was nice with a good sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The female changing rooms were dirty but what was most disturbing was the amount of young boys (approx age 8) in there with their mothers. I felt so uncomfortable as I wanted to get showered and changed that I didn't bother. I got as dry as I could, got dressed and went to my bedroom. Surely there could be a family changing area separate from the female changing area, it was embarrassing. The bedroom needed a good vacuum and the valances on the beds were dirty with black marks all over the bottom of them. The bathroom was very old fashioned, mine was a lovely 70's pink shade! I ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic, well presented, tasty and hot, very enjoyable, obviously a good chef. The staff throughout the hotel were polite and helpful, young and enthusiastic. I think if the bedrooms were upgraded this could be an excellent hotel with great views.

    « Thank you! »

I recently stayed at the hotel and wanted to comment on the exceptional service. It was exceptional in that on my first evening there I was taken ill and the staff coped with it beautifully. Attentive but not over powering and willing to do anything - including arranging a doctor visit and collecting a prescription for me. No questions were asked about when I would be leaving (I had only booked one night) and did everything to make me feel as comfortable as possible.

Stayed here for 1 night, rooms lovely modern.only downside the room I had was in the lower floor vith no views just high bushes and a public path running at the side of the room and the room had 2 small windows offering little light, otherwise great.Breakfast was excellent and most staff was plesant.Overall great stay would recommend and would stay again.

    « Nice hotel »

We stayed here for 1 night as we were attending a concert in Delamere Forest. Hotel a little dates but clean. Lots of parking available. Easy check in, room clean and comfortable. Nice views from our room, beds comfy, pillows a little hard for my liking but that's a personal preference. We did not try the pool the next day. Breakfast good and buffet to chooses from. Would stay again if attending another concert.

    « Great Nights Stay »

Stayed in Room 216, very big room, very clean and very quiet. Excellent nights stay enjoyed it very much, thank you. Did not use the pool but it looked inviting, breakfast was very good, good choice and plentiful if you needed it. Loads of parking available, all set in a lovely location, Frodsham was a great night out with friends also.

    « Total chill & relax »

Although this hotel is a tad dated in parts it is really clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is a great experience and the restaurant manager is a real funny guy, very accommodating and extremely attentive. The food is top class! ???? It was a shame the pool bar was closed and later there wasn't really a relaxing residents bar area to sit, other than the corridor or conservatory. The main bar area which was brightly lit closed hence we were moved out. The hotel is in a lovely setting with nice walks with Frodsham's pretty town which is not far away.

    « Great breakaway hotel »

This is a lovely out-of-the-way hotel, perfect for breaks, family reunions etc. Plenty of relaxing areas, fine swimming pool and leisure complex, pleasant bedrooms and restaurant with super views over the estuary. Very little to fault. Relaxing atmosphere with plenty to visit in the area.

    « Smith Family Weekend - a great success »

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A warm welcome, a lovely afternoon tea, dinner for 16 was lovely with a good choice on the menu. Great house wine and our exclusive use of the conservatory. The second evening had a different menu but equally excellent. Both breakfasts were spot on. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We already made a provisional booking for next year.

« Great service and carvery excellent. »

We called at this hotel ( 45 of us ) for a carvery after a trip to Llangolan canal. The whole experience staff, dining area and food was first class. A special mention for front man Kieron ( Jimmy Tarbuck lookalike Lol ! ) very amusing and creates a good image for the hotel. I would highly recommend this venue and would definately use it again. Thanks to all concerned.

    « Excellent stay »

We stayed at this hotel with our little Westie on our way to the Dog Fest the next day. The staff on reception were excellent, we had room service for our evening meal with having a dog with us, the waiter who bought us the meal was very polite. We had breakfast in the restaurant which we enjoyed, again staff very nice and helpful. A lovely hotel in a fantastic position, would certainly recommend.

    « Great staff »

Spent a night here with my 2 year old daughter after visiting the zoo in Chester. There was a wedding on in the Hotel but nevertheless staff were very helpful and were kind to my daughter. The room was very hot - but otherwise was nice - we had the executive room - comfy -plenty of space. Shame there is no fridge in the room though. Pool was nice but lockers were not available due to padlock use. bottom line - I would stay again! also might have been nice if (like other hotels do) the corporate teddy bears are free for children rather than on display and charged at £10

    5
    « SURPASSES EXPECTATIONS »

Enjoyed an excellent family stay when attending a nearby wedding. The gym facilities (with pool and sauna) are free to residents. The staff were polite and helpful; breakfasts from a self-service bar were good and filling. The rooms and public areas were well furnished and maintained. Although dating from the 1960's, it has been extremely well cared-for and maintained, and exhibits the very best of that period (including the coloured bathroom suites!). We were a little surprised to find the restaurant closed on a Saturday lunchtime ? but reasonably priced food can be ordered through reception and consumed in the public areas or your room. Altogether, a very pleasant stay.

« Best Western is my Favorite Brand »

I try to stay in Best Western Hotels as I like the Brand.... In Forest Hills Hotel I found another really first rate hotel. Ample parking. pleasant staff check in/out simple/straight forward. Room was very clean...well arranged Bath rather than shower.....had shower over, but I like a soak IN a bath. Wi-Fi worked very well.... Super quite setting. Did not hear ANY noise from out side I overslept...so bed was comfortable. Breakfast as expected...and as it should be......cooked well Good helpful staff serving. With this hotels setting...I think it must be VERY popular with Weddings. I did not get to use leisure part of hotel...as I was there for a gig in St Helens. Reception staff helpful as I went out on the Friday evening with some local details of roadwork's in area between hotel and St Helens. In all.....I would be more than happy to stay again if I am in the area. 100% RECOMENDED 10 out of 10

« NOW THIS IS HOW TO DO IT. WELL DONE BEST WESTERN FORREST HILLS »

A group of us has just returned from this hotel. It is in a lovey location and the staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The food is excellent and plentiful even for several of our party who have good appetites. We had the carvery and the choice and quality was spot on. The restaurant staff and manager have a wonderful sense of humour and it was just a pleasure to eat there. We will be back.

« What a great bunch of people! »

I arrived late on a Sunday evening. When there was a minor problem with the hot water in my room they immediately moved me to a different room. They even lent me a whiteboard for a meeting i had in the office the next day. What can I say? Great room, good food and GREAT staff! Well done and I WILL be back. Thanks

    « Lovely location »

Stayed here with my daughter. Hotel location was superb and we requested a room looking over the river which we were given. The view was great especially at sunset. The room was a little dated and small but had everything a traveller might need. Beds very comfy. Lovely big window which you could fully open. All staff we encountered were very polite and check in and out were simple. The leisure facilities were great - good gym and nice pool but the pool was very noisy as it was full of children on half term. What was really irritating was that they were allowed in the hot tub so there was no way you could relax and there was no area of the pool cordoned off for those who wanted to swim properly, you had to keep dodging children who were not always well supervised (there's no lifeguard in the pool). Other than this minor gripe though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food I'm afraid.

Reception staff were not very helpful when we arrived and when we asked a question the reply was well I will have same number as you!!!!! they were not interested at all to help or phone up for us. when we were in our Room it was so hot there was no air conditioning, we opened the window and heard people through the night we did not sleep well at all. The bathroom was so dated it was peach, the shower/bath had hairs in from previous person having a shave. Went for breakfast 3 staff were there having a coffee and talking, I had to ask for toast as they had not acknowledged me entering or sitting down. On leaving to go somewhere near by the direction given by reception staff were not clear or understandable we had to ask 3 different people en route for directions and reception staff did not get off her seat or write them down for us. On leaving the hotel I handed my key in paid my bill and they lady behind reception just said bye, No thank you , no how was your stay? Really not impressed with this hotel at all.

« Very good but not the cheapest »

Fine - no problems. Breakfast a bit limited in range. Very little in the way of continental option. Cooked OK but again a bit unimaginative and poor range of items. In room wifi poor at times. Staff very good - did not use leisure facilities. Would use again if price a bit lower.

    « Gourmet Meal - Excellent »

We are local so have attended for dinner a few times now and my parents always stay when over from the States. This visit did not disappoint! Beautiful food and knowledgeable wine expert but most of all the staff were, as always, fabulous. Chris the Food and Beverages Manager is so friendly and welcoming and obviously this feeds through to his waiting on staff. Well done Forest Hills!

« Breakfast and an Electric Car charge »

I love this place the views are amazing. I have been working in Runcorn so decided to use this hotel for breakfast, one of the reasons was because it had an electric charge point for Electric Vehicles. The staff are really helpful and its great value for for breakfast. I have posted it on the electric car user group on face book. Many thanks for your hospitality.

    « Second visit »

Since our last trip to this hotel in January we were invited back to stay again. We had cause to complain with regard to breakfast. But to be fair the manager was fantastic and offered us a complimentary nights stay. We did this and our stay was perfect this time. The room we were given again was lovely and the view is amazing. Its all very clean you really cant fault this. The pool is great and the towels are on the bed ready for a swim. Breakfast this time was great, a lovely lady was there to greet us. The only thing would be i dont find the staff on reception very friendly. But maybe thats just me . But a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

    « A thoroughly enjoyable 5 day mini break. »

Efficient friendly staff contributed to a very enjoyable five day mini break, during which we slept well in comfortable clean beds, enjoyed the swimming, sauna and steam room which were excellent. As for the food it was well presented, generous portions and delicious to eat. We had feared that we would need to eat outside the hotel before going there, however our fears were unfounded and we ate all except one meal there and could thoroughly recommend the food, as they had something for everyone and at a variety of prices. Very good value we will definitely recommend them and will go there again.

    « Don't stay »

I was here for a Family Wedding, and we had many rooms booked. The staff ,apart from Reception were amazing. Big thanks to the overnight gentleman and Shirley at Breakfast. However...very noisy due to nightclub next door. The music went on til 4 in the morning. I must add this was not the venue for the Wedding just where we stayed. The lovely Overnight Porter apologised when I made my last call to him at 3 am,however Reception were not apologetic. They merely stated the Nightclub has nothing to do with the hotel and they cannot stop the noise. For this reason I would advise anyone to not stay here if you have come here to get any sleep.

    « Awful room »

Having been in Miami and Budapest the previous two weekends I was brought back with a bump. I didn't realise rooms like this still existed. The bathroom had no bath or shelving round the sink, designed as a disabled room it had no light in the bedroom only lamps. Reminded me of a 1990's care home. Disappointing as we book at least 10 rooms three times a year. The hotel in general is bright and modern and staff are always on hand to help.

    « Excellent »

A fantastic hotel. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was lovely. Our room was huge with 2 showers in 1 cubicle. The fridge was a nice added extra. We loved the pool and it was such a lovely change not to have too many rules in the pool i.e...no ball games!! The boys ventured into the steamroom and sauna accompanied by us and they loved this 2minute experience as they have always been curious as other hotels have strict policies! Excellent. The breakfast was lush and plentiful. Lovely view from the dining room. I would have loved to have a view from our bedroom....the view from number 91 wasn't great! A lovely stay and birthday treat. We will return.

    « Excellent. »

I stayed at this hotel for business reasons and I have to say the hotel is of a high standard which i will use again for future business trips in this area. It is ran by professional reception staff and has excellent dining staff, especially on the morning for cooked breakfast. My room was large and overlooked the quad, it had a decent tv with freeview. The bed was extremely comfortable and probably had the best night sleep in a hotel for a long time. The hotel has amazing views and grounds which i enjoyed after busy day, the swimming pool looked great but I never managed to get round to using it. I would highly recommend this hotel for business/families/couples etc.

« Wedding and reception!! Fab »

We had the most fantastic day here at forest hills. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they helped organise everything and was one perfect day. Special thanks to Elaine who set up the room to perfection, it was the best day of our lives. Guests treated lovely, rooms very clean and our executive suite was wonderful. The service went without a hitch, the food was very tasteful and presented well. Drinks flowed and big thank you to the bar staff who worked their feet off. Evening reception was great the buffet was fabulous felt terrible as people were still full from lunch and had a lot left over. Next morning a delightful breakfast with my family and guests in a lovely atomosphere !! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOUR BOOKING A WEDDING HERE. Big thank you again to all the staff who worked really hard to make our day so memorable. There was not one complaint off anyone at the wedding only praise for all your efforts!!

    « Four and a half stars! »

Not quite five stars but from a value for money view point definitely 4.5. Try to get a room with a view of the Mersey. Rm 106 and in that area of the hotel should do it. My room (106) was generously furnished and nicely decorated. The bathroom was well designed with a large basin (space for all your bits) and an air bath. I didn't get round to the air bath as I went to the swimming pool and spa which are pretty good. The only improvement I would suggest would be regarding the breakfast selection and quality of ingredients. All things considered though, you get a lot for the modest price of a stay here.

Requested at main reception for bedroom to be hoovered but this did not happen. Upon checking out very helpful receptionist apologised for the matter not being resolved and offered discount - thank you. Easy access to dining area. Friendly and polite staff. Quality of food was good.

« Great family away day ..... Great value »

I had been here about 10 years ago and the kids wanted a trip to Chester area in easter holidays ... so we went back here nothing has changed (in many ways) but this is not a bad thing ... great leisure facilities, great staff, decent breakfast (eggs cooked separately) and the best was the room .. recently tidied up and a queen bed and 2 singles for a family of 4 - perfect !! close to many bars/restaurants in frodsham, short trip to Cheshire Oaks, and also the zoo ... great view of the Mersey at breakfast too ... I would recommend Tip : room 91 is perfect for a family of 4 !!

« Standard Best Western fair »

Stayed here as part of a family wedding. The wedding breakfast was very good, served in comfortable surroundings. However when it came to the speeches the PA system wouldn't work properly and we were treated to several high pitch screams from the speakers. Judging by the smell of fresh paint the corridors had recently been redecorated, but there was no lift down to the level on which our rooms were located and the route included a fairly steep staircase. Our rooms were comfortable and well equipped with en suite facilities. However we were all woken the following morning to the sound of the fire alarm. As if this wasn't bad enough, just as our hearts had stopped racing from the shock after the alarm had stopped it sounded again. By this time we were wide awake! The consensus among guests was that the alarm had been triggered by the steam from someone's shower elsewhere in the hotel. Now I've stayed in hotels around the world and this is a first: why hasn't this been identified as a hazard and dealt with by installing better steam extraction or less sensitive smoke alarms? Breakfast consisted of a typical buffet selection, the highlight of which was the spectacular view across the Mersey estuary to Liverpool. To be fair, you know what you're going to get with Best Western and this experience didn't disappoint in that respect: distinctly average.

Came to this Hotel on a recommendation with a party of seven, staff was very helpful and always happy. Was in the process of refurbishing in various parts of the Hotel on our visit BUT caused no problem to any of the guests. Breakfast excellent value, overall a brilliant Hotel and great location.

« Nice hotel, friendly staff, good value.... »

Nice hotel 20 mins from Chester. Currently undergoing minor refurbishment although disruption was minimal, pleasant clean rooms with friendly staff. Made use of the the leisure facilities and pool which were good. Free wi-fi. Have stayed here before and will definitely use again. Evening menu not appealing to us as a family although nearby pub "Ring o Bells" serves great food, just make sure you book! Breakfast was a plenty!

    « Lovely hotel! »

We just spent our Easter weekend away as a family at Forest Hills and had a lovely time. The Exclusive Room was perfect, very comfortable, with a great Jacuzzi bath tub. Service was very good, the pool facilities were excellent, with very long, hence convenient, opening hours. My criticism in hotels with indoor pools often is that the pool is only open from 10am till late afternoon, whilst this Best Western had much better opening times. The toddler pool section also was particularly good and our 4 year old loved it. Very quiet and gorgeous views. Cannot fault it for anything!

    « not brilliant »

heating not working, wasnt repaired when reported, breakfast very greasy, and not very warm had to ask for toast twice , spa staff most unhelpful, there was no signage in the spa area, electricians working in pool area as we were in there, i understand the need for maintenance, this usually takes place when areas are closed

    « Gourmet Night »

As usual reception staff are brilliant and we are always greeted like family. Since our last stay a few weeks ago the hotel has undergone some repainting in communal corridors and is nicely done. Having been staying in this hotel on a regular basis now for well over a decade the entire staff from Hotel Manager husband and wife Kieron and Tamsin team run an efficient happy ship. The restaurant staff never fail to please and for some so young it is a pleasant change seeing boys and girls who are happy and attentive in their jobs. Chris the Restaurant Manager is always on hand to ensure smooth running and if he is off duty his deputy Bob steps in. I use the few day breaks to re charge batteries for work. If my wife and I have one complaint about this hotel it is only that we can't buy the executive room we inhabit for the time we are here and stay even longer and more often than we do already.

    « "Gathering" get together »

Held our "Gathering" meeting (5 x couples of longstanding friends) at Forest Hills Hotel - on Friday afternoon / evening of March18th with stop overs into Saturday morning for breakfast. This coincided with one of the hotels 5 course gourmet dinner evening with with a different wine presented by the F&B host - Chris, between each course. As a single site hotel privately owned, the whole Team from GM downwards works to fulfil your expectancy for the stay. Great food, good service and a nice fresh full cooked English b'fast this morning.. The hotel is currently under refurb and the areas that are completed look superb. Having stopped at FHH many times over the years I have my favourite room that is always presented beautifully with superb super king size bed that is just so comfortable. The friends we take all love the relaxed clean environment and the facilities of pool, gym and valued customer feeling. Will not hesitate in revisiting his hotel again in the future. "

Situated at the top end in delightful village with great views of the estuary where Manchester Canal meets the Mersey. The hotel offers spacious rooms both for individual occupancy and family. The fitness facilities are excellent. There is a swimming pool for residents and local members. Bar and restaurant is staffed by very well trained staff. The food is superb. Great venue for conferences even when in use by locals. Should also suite newly weds as a honeymoon hideaway with great forest walk and within easy reach of other local attractions.

« Best over night stay ever »

We have just eaten an excellent meal from starter to dessert it was all delious. The service was super and the staff the most pleasant we have ever meet, from the manager Bob to Adam our waiter and James. The atmosphere was relaxed and attentive to all our needs, especially mine as I am.a vegatarian and the chief made me a starter of my choice. We have stayed in many Best Westerns before but this is certainly the best. The hotel is lovely, bright and clean and the view is lovely especially at the back of the hotel. Thankyou, we will certainly stay again the the near future.

    « Fantastic Night's Stay »

My partner and I went to Forest Hills Hotel last night for one night using a wowcher voucher which included bed and breakfast and a 3 course meal for both of us for £99! (Amazing!) Firstly, regarding the booking process, we emailed the hotel and received prompt and helpful replies. We wanted a room with a balcony if possible and were advised this was no problem and there would be no surcharge. We were also quickly provided with the contact information for the hotel's 'Techniq spa' when we enquired about booking treatments. The hotel is well sign-posted and easy to find, just remember it's on a hill so keep heading up hill until you come to a sign! On arrival, the hotel reception area was spotlessly clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The check in process was smooth and stress-free! Although we had arrived early (12.30) and check in was not until 2pm, the reception staff quickly checked that our room was ready and checked us in early with no questions asked. This was much appreciated after a 2 hour car journey. Our room (standard double) was, again, spotlessly clean and finished to a good modern standard. The en-suite was outdated, however this did not bother us as it was neat and clean, had a bath with shower, plenty of fresh towels and little complimentary soaps, shampoos, shower gel and shower caps - we could over look the old-fashioned suite! We believe the rooms/ensuites are in the process of being decorated anyway. The balcony was fab, although it was windy, we had a fantastic view. The hotel is in a great location, overlooking Runcorn from a distance with panoramic views from the hill. After a quick cup of tea in our room we ventured down to check out the facilities. We ended up having a drink in the restaurant bar, again, staff were professional and friendly. We then made it down to the leisure complex. We were really impressed by the pool, sauna, steam room and especially the lovely hot jacuzzi! Nice, relaxed atmosphere. We had our massages booked at the Techniq spa within the leisure complex for 3pm so after a short time exploring the leisure facilities, we got ready to go for our massages. We were blown away by how fantastic the massages were! The therapist (think her name was Mandy) was so friendly and made us feel at ease - and a very skilled massage therapist! The massages are incredibly reasonably priced, we felt - £38.50pp for an hour long full body massage plus hot stones! It was amazing! We booked our three course meal for 8pm. The service was fantastic, food service manager, Chris, was very friendly and a good laugh, very attentive to us throughout the meal. The meal was good, we enjoyed each course and our steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted great! Also we were sat by the window in the restaurant with the great views, all lit up at night. We both slept very well in our room, comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was a buffet style and had everything we wanted; cooked breakfast, continental, juice, etc and everything tasted lovely. Eggs were cooked to our liking and tea/coffee and toast were also brought over for us as requested. Overall, we had an excellent stay and the staff were all excellent. The facilities were good and the food and wines served were also of a high standard and very much enjoyed by us! We are glad we got this wowcher deal and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and hope to come back again in the future.

« Amazing views and excellent value for money »

We recently visited here for 2 nights, on a half board basis. We arrived almost 2 hours early, and were allowed to check straight in, as our rooms were already ready. Great start! We had 2 rooms between our party, one was refurbished and was very nice. The other was unrefurbished but was nice, and very clean, the pillows weren't very comfortable (lumpy) but other than that we were happy. As we were half board we ate in the resteraunt each night and the food was excellent. Lots of choice on the market menu, which remained the same on both nights. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice on the buffet, but also items made to order such as omlette, poached egs, kippers etc The drinks were also very reasonably priced. The view from the dining room is amazing! We used the Gym, but found the cardio machines were very old fashioned, they felt juddery and I found them very difficult to use. They seems to have lots of people using them though, so maybe I am just used to the very modern machines that are in my local gym. The pool, changing rooms and spa facilities are fantastic, really nice, clean and modern. My only slight dissapointment, after an amazing full body massage, was having to put my clothes back on, when I was covered in oil from the massage, if I had been provided with a towel and a robe I could of popped to the showers at the pool area, and washed off the oil before I got dressed. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. The cleaners and the younger waiting staff were particularly friendly and worked very hard. We went into Frodsham one afternoon for a look around, but there isn't very much to see, all of the shops close early on a Saturday! We also went to Lady Hayes craft market which was nice for a couple of hours. Overall we had a really lovely stay, and would definitley return.

    « Staff are brilliant! »

I stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a business trip. The staff were brilliant throughout my stay whether it was on reception, in the leisure facilities or in the restaurant. Their attention to detail was excellent and they couldn't have done more for me.

« IF IT WASN'T FOR THE BED »

This hotel is a fantastic find, up in the Frodsham hills. We stayed for only 2 nights, using the restaurant on one night for dinner - beautiful. Well worth the money for al la carte. Drinks were reasonably priced too. The whole appearance is clean and well run. The only problem we had was with our bed! Every movement during the night it was creaking and we have woken on the second morning with a very sore back.

    « Not too bad a stay »

Recently stayed for 2 nights on business at the Forest Hills. Check in process was smooth and friendly and the room was clean and well equipped, if a little dated (especially the pink bathroom suite!), . One down side - the radiator didn't work - the second downside - I reported it the next morning and it remained unfixed when I got back that evening. So you lose some points there! (luckily, it wasn't excessively cold). I ate in the restaurant the first evening and it was OK. But the menu is, in my opinion, misleading when it reads "all dishes are complete dishes. To compliment your meal choose from a selection of side orders available at an additional cost". Well the dish I ordered - pan fried salmon - definitely wasn't complete and I HAD to order additional side dishes to make it so. As I say, definitely misleading. I ate in the bar the second night to watch football and ordered a burger with salad, fries etc. All OK but it really have been nice to have been offered a knife and fork! I had to chase around for those! So, overall, not a bad stay but not fantastic either. I'd use again if in the area but it wouldn't be a first choice.

Lovely quiet hotel brilliant customer service Well done Location a little off the beaten track but some great views of the countryside Some modernisation done, clean tidy. Entrance is a little dated but the room I stayed in was very nicely decorated, large, clean and comfortable. Free wifi that worked was a great bonus!

« Wedding memories tarnished by poor service all round. »

We visited and stayed at this hotel to attend a family wedding. Our stay began badly and continued to go downhill. Check in is advertised as 2:00 onwards. We arrived shortly before 2:00 expecting to check in at 2:00 to get ready in our room. At 2:00, we were told our room would be ready in 5 minutes so waited in the reception area. 10 minutes later we were told the room still wasn't ready and a member of staff would inform us when it was ready. With the time of the wedding fast approaching we had no choice but to change our 12 week old baby into his clothes in the reception area whilst I had to resort to the ladies toilet. Incidentally we are still waiting to be approached by a member of staff to advise us that our room is ready. During the wedding breakfast we asked several times for the air conditioning to be turned down as it was so cold. It was never turned off, we learned though that the other end of the room was too hot and this was the reason, however it meant that an older lady initially sat at our table had to be moved mid meal as she was just so cold. We didn't take our jacket and woollen shawl off and had to wrap our baby in his blanket throughout the meal. In addition to this, a member of staff took it upon himself to put the lid on a jar of sweets our 4 year old son was eating without checking with us first, I find this wholly inappropriate and not something I've experienced ever before. During the evening celebration my 10 year old son chose a burger from the buffet of which he ate half as it tasted so bad. At 6:00am Sunday morning he started to have stomach cramps followed by diarrhoea and sickness. As none of the family have suffered similar illness before or after I conclude that the burger wasn't cooked correctly and gave him food poisoning. Thankfully he has made a full recovery. The family room itself was ok, the beds comfy and the room clean and tidy. The bathroom was clean but very dated in decor. However the fire alarm in the hotel is obviously very sensitive going off twice in the night. Other family members found there was a problem with the electrics in their room. Hotel staff rectified the situation as fast as they could but had to disturb another room to fix the issue as the fuse box for both rooms was contained in the second room. The following morning my 8 year old son had scrambled eggs with his breakfast. Whilst eating he discovered a hair in the freshly cooked eggs. When checking out we were told we owed £5 as the children had had breakfast. Our booking clearly stated the number of occupants in the room and stated 'fully inclusive of breakfast'. There was no small print about paying extra for children's breakfasts. The fact that one of the children couldn't eat breakfast due to food poisoning meant that the receptionist removed this charge but it should never have been added. We had already paid for our whole room to have breakfast. It seems though that the rates are confused regardless: We were charged £88 for a family room for 2 adults and 3 children inclusive of breakfast. A family member was charged £108 for the same number of occupants and when she told staff that they didn't want breakfast, the price was reduced to £88. She returned to the receptionist with our email confirmation showing the price we paid but the member of staff refused to reduce the price to deduct the cost of breakfast. This lottery of rates should be addressed. When attending a family wedding hotels have a captive market. Forest Hills are clearly taking advantage of this and providing a far from satisfactory service in many areas. It is so disappointing from our point of view as instead of just remembering the wonderful marriage our memories are tarnished with a substandard service from the hotel. We will not be returning to Forest Hills again.

« Welcoming staff, great food and amenities »

What a lovely hotel ! A real find and not typical of a chain hotel at all. Staff were incredibly professional, attentive, warm and friendly. The spa and leisure amenities were great - and all very family-friendly. A good size room, nice food, waitress service at breakfast with eggs made to order - all far beyond expectation given the price paid. It's also in a lovely location with fantastic views from the restaurant. Lots to see and do in the area so perfect for a half-term treat - we'll definitely be back.

« Clean, friendly staff and location excellent. »

The hotel is clean, breakfasts excellent and the locality to Chester,Liverpool and Chester Zoo is very handy. It has a nice indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi and sauna and steam room plus a gym. However, I was very dissapointed to find that we had booked a room for two and the bed was an ordinary double bed therefore we had to change to a twin room. A double bed is far too small for my husband and I. So, not so Romantic as it should have been, we also found that we were supplied with one bath towel and one hand towel. Yuk, I do not like to share towels with anyone,.Also, you were supplied with a not the largest of bath towels in your room to take to the pool with you, this you had to bring back to your room, which after use was soaking wet and you needed to dry this overnight if you wanted a swim in the morning.(so not so good).Plus, a spinner in the changing rooms would have been nice to get rid of the excess water out of you costume.Again, you had to try and get it dry for next day.An additional gripe was that there was only one type of tea on the tea tray in your room plus coffee. It would have been nice to be given flavoured teas and chocolate. Think I would rather pay the extra money and go to a hotel with larger beds as the norm. But for the money not a bad hotel by any stretch.

« No good for weddings »

I will save you reading all of this "no good for weddings". I attended a wedding yesterday as the photographer, on arrival made myself know to staff, as they where not the staff I met four weeks ago, I asked for confirmation of parts I could use around the hotel, I was suddenly told the parts I was told I could use where reserved for the other bride or just out of bounds so the brides can't see each other, my bride wasn't bothered by seeing the second one and my bride booked first. The female organiser I will call B, she was bossy arrogant and rude telling me how I would do my job, but came to a plan seeing as it was raining how to work with each other. The male organiser I will call Paul O'Grady as he reminds me of him. By the end of the day I have had my fill of his attitude and manor. The restaurant was full of chairs and tables set out for a meal this was what had been agreed with the restaurant manger to take group photos so we where not allowed to use it, we where initially given the old nightclub to use that was set out for our wedding venue, not enough room, then Paul & B agreed for us to use the ceremony room for the group photos due to the chairs been removed to the old nightclub for the meal, but due to the bad timing of having two weddings an hour apart, this would mean us been shut away in the nightclub for half an hour till bride two had gone to her venue through the reception, this delayed the photos by the half an hour meaning that the meal would have to be delayed, Paul & B where not happy nor was the restaurant manager, an argument was had as I pointed out we both had a job to do and due to the hotel timing the two weddings badly this meant there had to be alteration in the times. We where released from the nightclub to go to the Delamere room where we had to carry out most of the photos, we where told by Paul we can use the mirrors in reception and the conservatory, when Paul removed us from the Delamere I asked are we going to the conservatory " no you can't and you can't use the mirrors" so back to the nightclub where the rest of the photos had to be done. The staff gathered around us in the nightclub making us feel uneasy and intimidating us pushing us to finish the photos. The bride number two had been allowed into our Delamere room for her photos but we had been pushed around, locked away and bullied through the day, Paul and B stepped in and taken photos for there own reasons and where telling the bride what photos she was having next, this is my job and I had a list from my bride of what she wanted and Paul was told that. The restaurant manager kept disappearing when I went near him Paul and B where pushing the event through and where always in the vicinity doing a containment job. The bridesmaid made me aware about the other bride using our room and when Paul was confronted about that and the conservatory, he walked away with no answer for the bride and groom. On leaving the hotel I confronted Paul and gave him a piece of my mind away from the B&G leaving him in nothing short how bad it was as an event, in 17 years of wedding photography this was the worst venue ever, I have the managers name Mr McCabe and will be contacting him to tell him how bad it was. Would I book a wedding no, not without a lot of details put into writing.

    « Excellent Hotel »

Although it was Half Term Holiday and the Hotel was full we were offered a very nice double room with bath. I had ordered flowers and chocolates for my wife on arrival and afternoon Tea all of which was waiting for us. The views from the dining room were stunning over the Mersey and Cheshire hills. Special mention for Chris in the restaurant who looked after us very well

« Nice executive room for the weekend »

I have stayed here many times over the years, but this is the first time in an executive room and it was very good. Large, spacious , clean and with a jacuzzi bath. Just a few niggles with our stay. I booked through booking .com via trip advisor. Unfortunately it ended up going through as a single occupancy. To get it changed to double occupancy was a bit protracted and cost me just shy of £100 extra. So if you are booking via a 3rd party, best double check before pushing the fire button. Although not on a dining plan , we ate in the restaurant all three nights. The food was the usual good standard, but the set menu was the Same Friday and Sunday ,so we struggled for choice on Sunday. We went for a swim on Friday but despite signing in at reception we were not offered padlocks for the lockers which you now need. (We read this later in the info pack in the room.) A few more ideas for future consideration. Get automatic doors fitted to reception. Lugging cases through the manual ones is a pain. Sell individual glass prosecco bottles in the restaurant. Put bottled waters in the rooms. Sorry about the few negatives. Maybe 5 stars next time we visit?

« The best staff ever! »

Recently visited for a one night spa stay. The staff are the best I have experienced in any hotel I have been to. From the housekeepers to the managers - every member of staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant food was amazing both at dinner and breakfast. The desserts were so good I had to order two (just for me)! The Gym /Spa / Pool is also lovely and clean with a large pool. Did not hear a sound from the hotel room and comfortable beds so had a totally relaxing stay and will definitely go back soon

We held the wake at Forest Hills for my grandad's funeral. The staff were very helpful, as always and the room was presented very nicely. We had the Overton suite that overlooked the whole of Frodsham and in the distance you can see as far as Liverpool and north wales. Afternoon tea was great and the owner Kieron always manages to come and say hello on every visit. We've used Forest Hills for Wedding's, private charity functions, anniversary's and birthdays. Best place in Frodsham to hold a function.

    « Lovely spa hotel »

We booked to stay here through wowcher and were a little apprehensive as we've had a shocker from wowcher before (not a best western though) but the reviews looked good and for £59 for overnight stay, use of the spa and breakfast, you can't complain! The hotel is set high up on a hill over looking the town, and you have to go up windy roads and past lovely houses to get there, I was already happy! The girl on reception Natalie was very friendly and checked us in speedily, she also recommended us a really great Indian restaurant as that is what we fancied for tea. Our room was fine, lovely view down the hill and onto what we reckon was the Mersey (geography not my thing!), and there was a bath in the room as requested. We used the spa facilities after tea, all good there too, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna etc. As we went around 8pm it was fairly quiet and were able to relax. We slept really well, no problems with noise and the bed was one of the comfiest we've slept in, we both agreed it was one of the best nights sleep we've had in a hotel. Breakfast this morning was great, you can help yourself to bacon, sausage etc and the staff will bring you tea, toast and whatever type of eggs you want. We had a lovely time and if the deal ever came up again we would happily come back, very good value for money and in a lovely location!

« Lovely Hotel, Friendly Staff »

Booked to stay at this hotel for a spa break via Wowcher for just £59 for the two of us. Arrived early & was able to check in easily with the friendly staff. The bedroom was nice & clean. Flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities etc. Lovely, warm room & the bed was sooooo comfortable. Bathroom looked like it had been part modernised with new tiles but the pink bath, loo & sink remained. It didn't bother us though as everything was spotlessly clean. Powerful & hot shower & lovely big fluffy bathroom towels. Really enjoyed the spa & everything looked clean but my advice would be to take your own towels to use in the spa as the hotel spa towels where too small & not very good quality. Taxi into Frodsham costs £5.00 each way where there are some lovely pubs. Breakfast was ok but had better. Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet is about a 20 minute drive & is fantastic for some bargains :-) Overall good hotel for the price we paid so definitely would return.

    « A wonderful Christmas lunch again. »

This is the 2nd year that we have been for Christmas Day lunch. Although the starter, desserts and coffees are served at the table, the main course is a carvery. However this is sensitively organised so that you are not stood in a long queue in your finery. The selection of meats were of excellent quality and the choice of vegetables was unbelievable. Almost everything you could think of. Staff were attentive and helpful, offering to carry plates etc. We booked for 1.15 and were not hurried at all during the meal. The tables were festively laid and used crackers etc were removed promptly. Drinks were brought swiftly so no need to stand at the bar. All staff were polite, welcoming and friendly. Kieran was a joy as he kept the atmosphere going with his witty banter and friendly service. Our table wasnt too far from a window so we could look at over the Overton Hills. A lovely view, just a pity it was raining! Now looking at an overnight stay.

    « Better than expected »

My partner and I stayed here with a groupon voucher we received as a gift. The service was excellent right from initial email contact for booking with prompt replies every time which was great. On arrival we were a bit early so we went into the bar for a drink and were served by a gentlemen called Chris who was absolutely brilliant, made us feel very welcome and had good banter with us, I hope his managers appreciate how good it is to have someone like this be the first experience you have. Even if anything else had gone wrong on the stay the review would have been good because of how he was. The room was everything we expected for a hotel in this range and looks like it has had a freshen up recently, if I were to be critical I think the bathrooms require a refurb as along with the room phones and alarm clock are a bit circa 1980, peach bathroom suites are not cool! The bed was comfortable and everything else in the room was above what we expected. We had a door which is for joining two rooms which is quite thin as we could hear our neighbours, didn't really bother us but I could imagine it would bother a lot of people. We eat in the restaurant as part of the voucher and the menu was decent and the food was excellent, service was quick and staff were honest and helpful. We made use of the pool facilities while we were there and found no problems at all. We had breakfast delivered to the room which arrived promptly at the time we requested, I have to admit it wasn't the best breakfast I have had, butter was nearly frozen and some of the food items tasted dry and cheap. Maybe this is because we had it delivered as this is the first we have ever had it delivered to a room before? Overall a very nice and relaxing stay, staff were great and the place was above expectations. Just get rid of the alarm clocks (who needs one these days?) and phones to a museum and the rooms will look 100 times better. Thank you.

    « Nice Hotel »

I stayed with my daughter and was really surprised at how big the room was. I only booked a twin and we got a family room. It was all nice and clean. They even left towels in the room for the pool. Now the pool is great, but the Jacuzzi wasn't working. It didn't spoil our fun we were in there ages. The changing rooms could do with another private area for changing, there is only one . Everything was really great. Then we went down for breakfast. We had to wait for ages for someone to seat us. I went to reception , bearing in mind there were three girls sat there, to tell them. I was told to go back someone would be with us?? The a very flustered woman came out , no apologies just said they were busy and we should have sat down ?? The breakfast really let the place down. If I had paid for this separate I would have asked for my money back. Not a lot of choice, eggs were like rubber, no chopped fruit and no continental selection really. I have sent in a complaint so we shall see what comes of it .A real shame as the hotel is nice.

    « Dated & misleading »

We booked this place for a nice relaxing spa weekend. After checking in we tried to book some treatments only to be told it was a outside company that did them and they had no space all weekend. After 10 minutes our peace was broken by 15 old women jumping around in the pool to some 80's music been belted out during a water aerobics class. Not what we signed up for at all. The place is described as modern. It was more like the crossroads hotel from the 80's. I must say that the reception staff were brilliant and very understanding and even tried to help us book another hotel as we were checking out after just an hour. We came to the Dunkanhalgh spa hotel and this place is what we originally expected.

    « Pleasant stay »

Stayed overnight in January on arrival met with smiling helpful reception staff and this standard of customer service was maintained throughout the Hotel. Standard room but very clean, tidy with decent hospitality tray. Arriving early we were able to appreciate the excellent leisure facilities pool, sauna and steam room. The next day we had a morning walk the country footpath immediately outside the Hotel (just 20 yards on the right when leaving reception) offering great views over the Mersey estuary. Although we did not have an evening meal the buffet breakfast was very good reasonable choice with hot and cold food. Frodsham is a few minutes drive offering eateries and pubs. However if you fancy walking, turn left at the end of the drive walk down the hill and after a few minutes you will come to the Bellemonte Hotel decent beers and food (take a torch at night). Overall a very good value for money stay.

    « Poor food »

We joined our friends for an organised post Christmas dinner and dance/disco at the hill tops restaurant. It was a pre ordered set menu. I really struggled to pick anything exciting from the menu, and my husband felt the same. The table was fine, crackers and balloons etc., meal came out with no wait, and the young waiter and waitresses were very accommodating. Unfortunately the food was the real disappointment. Unappetising, poor quality, really struggled to eat the lamb casserole, just like leftovers, very greasy. The only positive comment I can make was the vegetables were lovely, They got one thing right. Disco was awful, drinks were very expensive, which you sort of expect in a Hotel, and wouldn't normally moan, however the rest of it sort of put a dampener on it. Fortunately we had good company to take our mind of the food. Will not be returning

    « Swimming »

I enjoyed a nice relaxing and peaceful swim and steam at forest hills as always. Yet still since I was little are the changing rooms still dirty as there are hairs and mats left out I think this is quite shocking seems as it offers its self as a luxurious hotel. If I was a guest I don't think I would be satisfied but as a member I am because I no how big a place it is. I will be letting staff know about by issues.

    « Expected better »

Booked via booking.com and was attending a wedding. Had to pay £84.00 for a twin room whilst others paid less for double b&b. We told the staff we were with the wedding party and if they could not offer us a discount could they at least give us breakfast included and they refused. Breakfast would have been another £21.00 per couple on top of £84.00 and it was very basic and unwelcoming. The staff seemed very reserved and unhelpful, quite short and dismissive and like they just wanted to do their job and get away.Bar prices were extortionate and staff on here seemed inexperienced. Food service extremely slow also. I was very disappointed. This place advertised offers for meals bed and breakfast including the night we stayed (burns night) for £57 yet they ripped us off. The place itself is okay and plenty of locals tend to use the facilities but it doesn't really have a nice atmosphere.

« London Business Trip From Hell! »

Coming from London and doing a lot of business in London I had high expectations for this hotel. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met in the slightest. Checking in was dreadful waited around 10 minutes to be seen to as there was no one on the reception desk. My room was tiny! Just about enough room to move around the bed the bathroom was outdated and there was a "wet dog" smell. I didn't use any amenities other than the restaurant but I did request a morning phone call, which never happened and a newspaper that never came. Dinner was not too bad apart from the steak still being raw and the chips tasting like they were still frozen. Possibly even "reheated". You could here the chefs shouting at the waiter/waitresses from the kitchen, surely you can't treat staff like that? Breakfast the next morning was just as bad, eggs were cold and I even witnessed someone sneeze over the pastry snacks. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel in the slightest. I have never seen anything like it, completely poorly managed.

« Fabulous staff, good facilities, tasty food »

A lovely hotel - great location with views all over Cheshire and the Wirral. The staff are warm and friendly and very, very patient too - we just say made it in time to the restaurant before it closed, yet we the service was excellent, unrushed and the waiter's very accommodating. The rooms are clean and what you'd expect of a hotel of this level, and there's a good pool area (though a couple of teens taking selfies against the mirror in the changing room whilst I was starkers may mean I'll get my 15 minutes of fame in a way I hadn't reckoned with) Fortunately the staff accosted them on the way out to try and spare my potential online blushes. Would I go back? Most definitely.

« not the best western i'de expect »

Staff were friendly and efficient. However, only 1 towel in double room and lamps did not have bulbs . A good spa but the Jacuzzi wasn't working and the changing rooms were very cold . A satisfactory breakfast and comfy bed were the positives

« Ideal Dog Friendly Base for Exploring »

Stayed here for four nights to visit relatives around Merseyside / The Wirral. Very helpful staff welcomed us with a doggy bag for each of our two dogs which contained some treats and a ball - the springer spaniel loved this! Lovely breakfasts with a good selection and great eggs cooked fresh to order. Comfortable room with plenty of space for the dogs.

    « Everything we wanted! »

We stayed here for a Saturday night while visiting relatives and a trip to Liverpool. The hotel was clean, tidy and in good repair. As with all Best Westerns it had individual character and felt like a holiday. The pool was a good size for a hotel and with a hot spa pool too. We used the room service for dinner and fed three for under £15! There are several easy meals like burger and pasta on the room service menu for around £5 and only a 10% delivery charge. The breakfast was delicious and we had a great view over the Mersey while we ate it! Inclusive, working, fast wi-fi. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, they had even made up a third bed in the room for our three year old, all inclusive and without fuss. The hotel is easy to find off the main roads, but at the same time it's out in the countryside so it's a really quiet site.

« MY FIRST BEST WESTERN STAY! »

After stayed and reviewed 120 Hilton hotels, I decided to explore a different hotel chain. Consider every chains and finally chooses Best western. I booked a single room with breakfast for £27.60, under the winter sales offer. Main attraction of this hotel is the location. Situated top of the Frodsham hill, easily accessible from M56. I drove from Blackpool, about 65 miles, before reaching the hotel on the way also enjoyed the lovely views. I parked just infront of the hotel, there was plenty of spaces available and it's free. When I entered only one reception staff member there and she is very busy over the phone, confirming some bookings. After couple of minutes only she apologised and did the check in for me. She is very polite and explain every aspects of the hotel and made a booking for dinner at the Hilltops restaurant also. Most of the time I noticed just one staff member at the reception and guests waiting. My room number 214 at the first floor, no lift facilities here, but numerous stairs there to reach anywhere in the hotel. Room is reasonably sized with every essential amenities, bathroom with bathtub, everything spotlessly clean. Hotel built in 1988, I think recently refurbished, because most of the things looking fresh and the interior also tastefully decorated. From the window far away views good, but this room not located for great views. I think further backward rooms got breathtaking views of the Mersey estuary. Room is quite and well heated as well as well illuminated! TV is very small, just 20" screen or so, with lots of channels, but because of the size bit of difficult to enjoy! Tea, coffee making facilities good. Sleeping quality average because of the pillows are not soft, and mattress also bit of hard. This is not a big hotel, just 58 rooms there, but lots of recreation facilities including indoor pool, gym, jacuzzi/spa pool, sauna/steam room available. Wifi also free. I had my dinner at the hotel's restaurant "Hilltops". I am seated window side, enjoy breathtaking views. Other than A La Carte menu, there was a cheap market menu also available, three course for £21. I preferred A La Carte, ordered Grilled fillet of rainbow trout as starter for £5.95, grilled sea bass as main for £15.95. Sea bass dish is delicious. Buffet breakfast also served at the same venue, I preferred for full English. Bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes everything perfectly cooked, I enjoyed my breakfast. Juices, coffee/tea served by attentive staffers. Checkout time is 11 am, I requested late checkout till 12, accepted straight away. Checkout done smoothly. Over all my first stay at a Best western hotel is relaxing and remarkable. Definitely I will continue!

    « Really relaxing »

Stayed here on a saturday as a present from our kids, Staff here were very good, special mentions to Hannah and to Chris the restaurant manager. Leisure facilities were very good, we had a swim, then sauna and steam room. all very clean. Our room was on the first floor, a bit of a maze of corridors, but nothing out of the ordinary, room was clean and of a reasonable size, bathroom equally clean, although a little dated in the colour scheme. We had a 3 course meal, which was from the Market menu, and was exceptional, as was the service, apologies for not remembering the name of our waitress, but suffice to say she was great. We went into Frodsham for a few drinks ! , well maybe more than a few . Taxi ride was about a fiver each way . Breakfast was a buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order , plenty of everything, and very enjoyable. We are definitely going to visit this place again. Thanks

    « New year break »

First time I have stayed at the hotel, booked for 9 friends for 2 nights from New Year's Eve must say very impressed with hotel staff and food, we made it extra special with an executive room well worth the extra,we will go back again later in the year

    « New year break »

We had an overnight stay at forest hills hotel Frodsham. We used to go the hotel a few years ago our last visit was seven years ago. We were pleased that the the hotel was still the same in lots of ways. Food , service etc. The bathrooms are dated but everything was spotlessly clean. We had two rooms for four people, one of the rooms only had one towel , there was a problem with the lights too but We phoned reception and it was sorted straight away. The leisure facilities are a bonus with the hotel. The close proximity to Chester is good as well as North wales. A very enjoyable overnight break.

« Forest Hills Christmas break »

We have been staying at Forest Hills for the last 13 years. The Christmas three day package is fantastic value including wonderful food, entertainment and use of the leisure facilities for the duration of your stay. Great pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi plus excellent gym. Being located in Cheshire, you are close to great amenities for Chester, North Wales, Cheshire Oaks etc.. Great walks and countryside on your doorstep. All of this makes it a great place to stay, but its the staff who make it a memorable and fantastic place to stay. Enjoy!

    « Twixmas break »

Returned to this hotel after 2 years and found the high standards still maintained. Excellent room, large, clean and tidy with plenty of hot water, large towels and a high tech bath. Recently refurbished to a high standard, thank you. Quality of food and service in the restaurant excellent, Thanks to the chefs and Chris and his team. Mushroom and Asparagus risotto outstanding. Excellent professional approach by all staff especially Chris, Justyana, Sydenee, Suzanne and Louise. The star of the team was Lynn who serviced our room and added to the overall experience, it was a pleasure to return each day to our room. Lynn is an example of how the behind the scene people play a significant role in delivering customer service, thank you Lynn. The management must be congratulated on their leadership.

    « Well happy »

I had to work away from home and this is the lovely hotel my company put me up in. From the minute I checked in to minute I checked out (7 weeks later) I was made to feel welcome and comfortable, all the staff are friendly and will do their best to make sure you are well catered for

    « Staff Sales Meeting »

Second visit this year for a sales meeting. Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. Evening Restaurant staff inexperienced and could do with more training/mentoring. Food good, Wines overpriced ( my main complaint ): good sized rooms, clean and reasonably well appointed, great pool area. Very good prices, particularly for meeting room. Easily accessible and seems a great location.

    « Gourmet Night »

Another first class stay. Thank you to all the staff for making our weekend so special. It's like coming home. Food excellent, wines super with a great speaker, and good background music. Looking forward to our second Christmas stay. Another advantage is that this is a doggy friendly hotel, Lucy has always been make very welcome.

    « Christmas party stay »

The hotel isn't self is in a lovely setting with fab views from the restaurant . Rooms were clean but old fashioned , bathroom ready for an update lovely pinky peach colour. Holes in the sheets but comfy bed.The party evening was good , food was ok for mass produced and service was good. Motown theme and singer were entertaining. Noise travels and so walls must be thin. Breakfast was good and buffet style. No lifts so need a ground floor room if struggle with stairs.

    3
    « Xmas night out »

Had our works night out....food was hot and typical of 'food on mass. Staff were efficient as room was packed. Singer mingled not the best vocals but ok Motown songs. Didn't bother staying overnight but some friends did they said it was ok. Night staff were friendly and even made one of them a hot chocolate.

« Definitely not the Best of Best Western - far from it »

Bedrooms are definitely well overdue for a refurbishment - we are talking 1970's bathrooms (pastel pink for goodness sake) and the bedroom itself was tired and showing signs of worn out ! Great view from the window of the chemical works if you like that sort of thing (not) Evening meal was nothing to boast about - edible but lacking in taste ! Reception area was littered with packing boxes with no apparent reason why ! Bar area - tiny and at the entrance to the dining area with only seating for a few Staff on the whole were pleasant and accommodating when you could find them. Overall not a place we shall visit again and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

    2
    « Serious upgrades required »

This hotel usually wouldn't be my cup of tea, but a Christmas Party with friends brought us to the once luxurious hotel which still has its spectacular reviews. The corridors to the rooms smelt of food - similar to that of a residential home. The theme continued with the outdated decor and carpets. The single glazed Windows were not just draughty, but ensured the corridors and stairs were chilly. The room itself was like going back in time. A pink bathroom suite and dated room generally; customer information blu-tac'd to the walls. This hotel has been left to rot over the years and needs some serious money spending on it. The potential is there and it is sad to see it in its current state.

    3
    « Shopping Weekend »

The hotel on first impression looked good value for money. However, the room let it down slightly. The bathroom wall tiles were soiled with snot and blood around the shower rail which my wife had to clean off when showering. The over all hotel décor was average. The food in the restaurant both for breakfast and evening meal were good. Would use again only if there was a price deal and there were no other choices in the price range

    3
    « Distinctly average »

We went for a xmas night out. The food was tasty and good value for money although the bread rolls were served after the starters and the stollen with the coffee had to be asked for but overall a very nice meal. The let down was the service. One waitress was the trainee and she was the most helpful, friendly and attentive, the manager was very professional but the others were sullen and not very professional, with 'ee ahh' and 'mind out' as food and drinks were served (or plonked down) a far cry from years gone by at the forest hills.

« Alright but nothing special compared to other Best Western hotels »

Stayed 1 night after a long day at the shopping Outlet, and too far to drive home when tired. We wondered where the Sat Nav was taking us up through dark narrow lanes but eventually came to the hotel high up on top of a hill. Had a magic view down over the valley and someone kindly had a firework display to entertain us - stunning! The room was rather hot but we were able to turn the radiator down. The room was rather tired looking and the bathroom was a lovely salmon pink (!) colour - very 70's. The bed was fine but we could have done with a pair of binoculars to see the small tv, which seemed to have a mind of its on with the volume altering between high and low without us touching anything. That was a bit annoying after a while. Also making a cuppa was a new experience as the kettle refused to work unless you physically held the button down for the whole time to bring it to the boil. All in all, not the best and we did tell the receptionist of the problems. We would probably try somewhere else next time we visit the area.

    3
    « Convenient Location »

We picked this hotel for the location, we had a family gathering in the area and Forest Hills was the most centrally situated. On arrival, the receptionist had our paperwork ready and so registering was painless and we were given directions to our room. The room was clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities, t.v and all the usual amenities. The bathroom was dated (bright pink bathroom suite!), the taps on the basin leaked slightly and sometimes the water refused to pour until the tap was turned off again and would then pour forth in a flood. The shower above the bath worked fine and with plenty of hot water, although I did hear some guests saying that they had had cold showers We had dinner just once and found the food to be Okay, if a little expensive for what we had. Breakfast was buffet style with a choice of juices and cereals and a choice of a cooked breakfast or continental option. We were not impressed with the breakfast as the only item freshly cooked were the eggs, everything else was pre- cooked and left on a hot plate so, unless you arrived as it came from the kitchen, it was starting to go dry, particularly the fried bread and black pudding. Also, the sausages were tasteless. The next morning we went for the continental option and toast! Having said all that, we booked the hotel with Avios so for the price we paid we found it to be value for money.

« Old Friends meet half way. »

My friend and I live at opposite ends of the country and we meet up several times a year to have a couple of days together. Best Western Forest Hills Hotel in Frodsham, Cheshire, truly met our expectations. It is in a delightful location in rural Cheshire, set on the top of a hill with fantastic views. It is very convenient for the M56 motorway. Our room was ready early, clean, warm and with all the usual facilities. The pool, spa, jacuzzi, steam and sauna were well used by us and added a touch of luxury; really warm pool and all very clean, which is not always the case in hotels! The staff at Forest Hills were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. One of the waiting staff, seeing us struggle to replicate the way the napkins were folded, came over and gave us a lesson in origami for napkins. Cool! We enjoyed the meals, cooked to order if required at breakfast and a good variety, well cooked and presented in the evening, along with a complimentary bottle of wine on each of our two nights. This visit was very special as it was the result of doing a competition in the in house magazine "Do Not Disturb" while visiting another Best Western hotel earlier this year. The prize was two nights dinner, bed and breakfast for two people, plus Otis, the cockapoo. Unfortunately Otis was unable to join us, but the management very kindly provided him with a doggy bag of treats. Nice touch! All in all a splendid break and high recommendation to anyone wishing to go to Forest Hills.

« Best Western Rewards - very rewarding »

We have been rewards members for some years.... Gold seemed enough, but recently we achieved PLATINUM.... this was our first trip since that... On arrival the receptionist, without any request from us, or fuss told us we had been upgraded from a very reasonably priced double to an EXECUTIVE suite.... well done

« Great location and good value »

Off the beaten track this hotel is worth the find especially when you open up the curtains in the morning to the lovely views of the river Mersey. The hotel offers great amenities, good food and all at a very good price. Certainly worth the extra miles to find it and make sure you make use of the leisure facilities. Location wise it is great as just of the M56.so great for access to Cheshire and Merseyside.

« Nice hotel, not fancy but a good place to stay »

I have stayed here twice. Each time sharing a room with two female friends. The last time we attended a Murder mystery night. The hotel is friendly and the rooms a clean and quiet. It could probably do with a decor update but it is stil cared for and homely. The breakfast is excellent. The evening meal is reasonable quality but don't expect much if you are vegetarian. The pool is lovely and you often can have it to yourself. The massage I had there was very good.

« Views to die for with excellent service »

I found all the management and staff most welcoming and helpful without exception. The food that I ordered was well cooked and tender. Breakfast was of a high standard. My room was very well appointed and clean. The Bathroom furniture was old at (approx. 25 years old judging by the colour), but clean. The water tap needed attention which I reported. The views from my room were fantastic and truly magnificent. The restaurant shuts at 9pm so if you are arriving late, stop and have something to eat before you check in. I was woken up at 2pm by a Fire Alarm which was of concern, I found it difficult to go back to sleep and was not offered anything in compensation for my sleep being disrupted. I have no problem in recommending this hotel based on my stay.

    2
« One night, FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION »

I recently stayed here with my wife on 14/11/2015. The room itself was fine and the restaurant was nice (the food was lovely). However I felt I had to review this stay as I have read a previous review and following the managers response to the reviewer I felt I had to post one. The fire alarm went off at 01.06am approximately, it didn't just go off once but 3 times. I and my wife proceeded to go to reception to find other guests had gathered. I spoke to the lady night supervisor/manager who explained that the alarm had gone off in the old adjacent night club (not in a room with a shower and not at 02.30am???!!!). She proceeded to tell everyone it was a false alarm and that everyone should go back to their rooms, she was also telling all the guests who was phoning reception the same thing. As I have a background in fire alarm systems I explained that the panel will need to be reset or the zone isolated for the fire alarm to provide protection to the building and guests. She invited my around behind reception to see if I could offer help, I had a look at the panel which was showing fire in zone 1. I explained that it would be best if she contacted the company who maintain the system to come and reset the panel. I eventually got back to my room at 2am. When in the morning we checked out, we complained to the receptionist who explained that the panel had been reset that morning and was now fault free. This meant that ALL guests were left venerable all night. I asked to speak with a manger but was told no one was available, so our email & mobile phone number was taken on a compliment slip by the receptionist and was told that a manger would contact us before the end of the following day????Guess what? Nobody did. Exceptional customer service, not!!!! I didn't get any recompense for the disturbance or even a thank you for the help/assistance I gave plus no one even contacted us when they said they would. I have to agree with other reviews left about this weekend, the staff either didn't follow the policies/procedures for a false alarm or they don't know them. The upshot is guest were left with the impression it was a false alarm and they could go back to sleep when the reality was that they went to back to bed after the false alarm vulnerable as the panel hadn't been reset.

    « Family weekend break »

We stayed there for 3 nights and booked the family room which was very spacious Double bed and two proper single beds for the children Usually hey get a folding bed or the sofa bed but they got proper beds which is lovely.Bedroom very modern and very clean plenty of towels. The kids loved the pool and us grown up loved the spa too!. The staff were very friendly and really lovely to children they made an enormous fuss of them.We really felt welcomed and at home nothing was too much trouble for them.We ate from the snack bar the food was excellent and the breakfast buffet too.We definitely would come back and would recommend to my family and friends too!

« Poor Fire alarm procedures »

I booked this hotel at the last minute and arrived around 9pm. I did not have evening dinner so cannot comment on meals. The hotel is at the top of a hill and is modern and clean looking. The Receptionist was friendly and efficient and with a big meeting the next day I retired to my room for a cuppa and an early night. The bedrooms are smart, clean and comfortable although the walls are thin and the TV is small by today's standards. Breakfast was good and the restaurant staff again very friendly and efficient. The issue I had was when the Fire alarm was triggered at 02.30am and after making my way down to reception along with other guests there was no one on night duty to ensure people's safety. As I looked around I saw someone in a dressing gown go into the office behind the desk and as he made no attempt to address the guests I followed him and asked what was happening. He said it was a false alarm so everyone return to their rooms. My concern is that if there had been a real fire I did not see any sound safety procedure or night staff. I would have happily given it a 4* if not for this.

I have just come back from a weekend stay at Forest Hills From the moment we arrived on Friday afternoon we have been looked after by the excellent staff. The reception staff are front of house & are very pleasant nothing is too much trouble . We had a lovely bedroom a little cold at times but we weren't in it long enough to complain!! Very clean a good size & always nice clean towels in the bathroom ! The food in the restaurant was very good, plenty of choice & excellent staff to serve it !! This was my 3rd visit to this hotel & hopefully will be back in March next year !!! Would definetly recommend this hotel

    « Another Fabulous Weekend »

Once again this hotel and its staff should be very proud of their service and effort - nothing is too much trouble. We have grown in numbers from 20 to 33 and still we can't really fault them - yes, a couple of minor issues but nothing that wasn't put right. The food is always good and plentiful to the point where I just could not eat another thing!!! Thanks to a great team, a great group of ladies have had another ball. See you in March!!!

« Lovely Location, Dated Hotel, Friendly Staff »

At the outset I would say I was wondering if I should give this hotel 4*,as I would most definitely stay here again. However, there were a few bits I would want to see improved. I chose here as my family and friends were looking to spend a weekend in Chester. This hotel is ideally located. On arrival we were warmly greeted. Albeit check in was not until 2,I was delighted when we were told or rooms were ready. Fabulous. We were in room 120. Very spacious. Comfortable beds. Table and chairs. However, this would be the first point I would make. The hotel is somewhat dated and could do with a spruce. The bathroom was a pinky orange! Think my Grandmother had the same colour. Interestingly our friends in 119 had a modern white one. Never the less it did the job. The second point us that our room was boiling. And because there was no air conditioning as such, it was difficult to moderate. There was a fan that could blow in cold air, but not great. Breakfast was adequate. Not the best but not the worst. Buffet style with various hot and cold items. Special mention to Becki the waitress who was polite and attentative throughout our stay. She even rescued Molly our pet monkey. So all in all, a very enjoyable stay. With a few improvements this could be rated 5*.

    « Peace and Quiet »

This is a nice hotel in a very nice and quiet location. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The hotel offers a gym, spa and swimming pool, a good way to unwind after a hard days work. The restaurant is good with a varied selection on the menu, also room service was quick and the food again a very good standard. Pleasant and friendly staff in all areas of the hotel..

« Really nice hotel with great gym, pool and Spa »

Staff were really friendly throughout the stay and happy to help out how they could. The rooms are absolutely huge so perfect for families, but equally good for couples and individuals who like their space! The bed was comfy, plenty of pillows, plug by the bed to charge your phone and a decent sized desk. The TV was tiny unfortunately but worked fine. The bathroom was amazing in my room, with a double shower which gave a torrent of warm water! Always nice in the morning! Pool and gym were both really good. A full gym with plenty of weights and cardio machines a like. The pool was very clean, you can easily do proper swimming as well as recreational swimming. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all great as well. I would stay here again, although I have given it 4 stars I would say it's very close to five!

    « Wedding »

We attended a wedding here and stayed the night. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I stayed along with my son and his wife, we all thought the drinks and food were both plentiful and reasonably priced. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Enjoy

« Good hotel for the price »

Went for a one night stay to visit friends. Staff very friendly and helpful on arrival. I had a massive room 97. Looked like it could have 3 beds in it. Great shower. We had some idiots in the car park but reception sorted it before I could ring, so thanks. Breakfast was ok but not wonderful. So I would stay again and would always recommend the hotel. Would be a great place to stay if you went to Chester races as it only 15 minutes on the train

    « A pleasant stay »

A pleasant hotel perched on top of Frodsham hill which provides very pleasant rambling. It is possible to walk all the way to Helsby, or to link with the nearby Sandstone Trail staying entirely on small footpaths. The room was clean and pleasant. Good fast wifi was available throughout. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were very helpful when we came to them with a series of slightly unusual requests! I will use them again when I need somewhere to stay in the area.

    « In the hills »

At the top of the hill, the hotel offers some great views down over the Mersey. There's a short walk done to a view point which gives brilliant vistas on a clear day. Also some good treks down through the forest on the hillside if you don't mind a stiff hike on the way back up. The hotel itself is warm and comfortable and well maintained with good size rooms, and comfy beds. Staff are very good and were particularly helpful in sorting out a messed up booking for me. Good choice at breakfast.

« Great Hotel for family of 5 »

Booked 2 nights at Forest Hills Hotel initially as it was the only one near Chester Zoo that could accommodate a family of 5 in one room, otherwise we would have double the cost for two rooms. The Hotel staff were really friendly, Helen at the main reception desk was really helpful and arranged our discounted tickets for Chester Zoo and the Blue Plant Aquarium which saved us quite a lot of money. Shirley in the restaurant was brilliant with my sons at breakfast and even the man cleaning the room next door as we left asked if we needed a hand upstairs with the suitcase and bags. Great hotel, the room was bigger than average and very clean, with lots of towels on hand. Only 15 mins or so away from the Zoo......great location... Could not fault it..would definately go back again. Well done everyone at Forest Hills for making our stay so enjoyable :)

« Excellent hotel, quiet location »

All staff were friendly and professional. I requested that they give me a room which had good wi fi signal and they agreed and the signal was good. Also their restaurant staff were helpful. They have some river facing rooms, ask for one--the views are amazing. The pool and jacuzzi are worth a visit. The food in the restaurant is excellent.

« Best Western Forest Hill ? Afternoon Tea »

We decided to visit the Best Western Forest Hill in Frodsham for afternoon tea, after receiving a couple of 241 vouchers courtesy of the PG Tips Cuppa Cup. We were looking forward to it, after having had good experiences of afternoon tea in the past, so we made our booking for the 24th September. The hotel itself seems very well kept, and the communal areas were clean and tidy, and the staff we encountered were all very pleasant. After being shown to our seats in the main restaurant which had a lovely view of the nearby estuary, we were promptly served our afternoon tea, along with two pots of tea to share between four of us. The afternoon tea initially appeared to be of a good standard, however unlike other establishments which have traditionally given two cake stands between four people, here, we had just the one (not to sound greedy, but this was a little sparse). The selection of finger sandwiches on the bottom tier were a little uninspired, with just a couple of each variety (Ham, Cheese & Cucumber, Tuna, and Ham and Tomato) all served on white bread which was a little stale around the edges. As for the selection of cakes, this was too disappointing, with just one small slice of tasteless cheesecake each and a half of what appeared to be a Bakewell tart. The top tier was reserved for a scone served with a pot each of Jam and Cream, which was just OK. The amount of tea (for my family ate least) wasn't much, as the pots and tea cups were fairly small, however the staff were more than happy to supply more when asked, however we were not given any extra milk. Based on experience we have had at other similar hotels ? for similar prices, we would have expected the food to be of a much higher standard, with more variety and better quality. The best part about our visit was that we were not rushed to leave ? the restaurant was very quiet, and we were able to spend a good couple of hours chatting, without feeling pressured by the staff to clear our table. Upon leaving, there was not a staff member in sight ? in fact, we were the only people left in the restaurant. We hung around for a good few minutes by the bar waiting to pay, before we made our way to reception to ask who we paid, as it would have been easy for us to walk out without paying at all. The lady on reception said she would telephone through to the restaurant staff and that we should just wait in the restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our payment, which seemed a little odd. The bill rung in at £36.90 (£6.90 extra for orange juice), so this meant that without our voucher the afternoon tea would have been £30 ? in our opinion this did not reflect the quality of the food presented, and without the 241 offer we would have been very disappointed and disinclined to pay this much. As it was, £15 for the four of us was an acceptable amount to pay however we will not return for afternoon tea here again unfortunately.

« Lovely Quiet hotel with great views of The Mersey »

We went here for a dinner and disco night & stayed overnight and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was ok not fantastic - my steak was tough could not eat it. the breakfast was lovely. The entertainment was very good the girl singing Poppy was very good but started with songs that were too slow - we wanted to get the party started after the meal and it took about an hour before we could get up and dance to lively music. Once that came on it was brilliant! The rooms are a bit dated but are very clean, comfortable and have plenty of space. The leisure club looked nice plenty of gym equipment a swimming pool and sauna and jacuzzi but we did not use it so can't comment on the changing rooms. The staff are attentive and friendly. All in all very good value for money with great views and walks if you want to partake on the Sandstone trail. Will be visiting again just need the dinner to be slightly better.
