Best Western Premier Hotel Victoria

We spent 3 nights in Freiburg and this hotel was great. The location is great as it's a short walk to the train and bus station and also to the city square. The rates were reasonable and the room was spacious and quiet with a comfortable bed and a very nice bath and shower. Staff was very professional and helpful to non-German speaking visitors. I would definitely return on my next trip to Freiburg!

Professional staff, well-stocked lounge bar open all hours, on-site parking, a fantastic spread for breakfast, and cozy rooms with down comforters and soft cotton towels and sheets. A classier Best Western experience in this small boutique hotel. . Friends and family stayed in 8 rooms over a long weekend. The personal attention from the staff was exceptional. Within minutes from the train station and to the main square.

The Victoria Best Western is a lovely hotel. It is located close to everything. The room was clean and quaint. The staff was pleasant and breakfast was awesome. My friends always stay there when they are in Freiburg. I would definitely return.

Stayed two nights at this beautiful hotel ~ Check in with Camilla and Terese was a pleasure! ~ both were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and professional! Our room 106 was immaculate, spacious, quiet, great water pressure, air conditioning, lighting, towels and linens. There is a safe in the closet and 6 very large dresser drawers. There is an extra wide pull-out chair should there be a third person, a bench, TV, a desk and chair and the bathroom has plenty of surface space. Breakfast buffet has a nice variety of items including hard boiled and scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, muesli, yogurt, fruit, cucumber slices, tomato wedges, cheese, meat, assorted bread and rolls, preserves, honey, Nutella, assorted desserts, orange juice, coffee, tea....Seating is in a lovely and comfortable room. Housekeeping is great ~ so very friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect as it is close to many attractions, restaurants, shopping and just a five minute walk to the train station.

My friend who lives in Freiburg booked this hotel for me, and I was very happy she did. It was easy walking distance from the train station, the price was right, and the ladies at the reception desk were friendly and helpful. My room was quiet and clean, and the bed was comfortable. For me this was 5 stars; however, the room is small by American standards. Though the sleeping area was on the smaller side( might be tight with a large suitcase), the bathroom was large and renovated, and the shower worked great. I slept well both nights. The optional full breakfast is 20 euros, but it is a large spread with lots of healthy and delicious choices. If you don't want to eat that much for breakfast, I saw places nearby where breakfast pastry could be purchased. This is an older hotel built, I think, in the 1800s. As such, it has lots of charm, including wood paneling in the breakfast room. There is an elevator. My room was over the inner courtyard. There was no view, but it was quiet. I would recommend Hotel Victoria.

Great location in the Altstadt, there was parking, the room was great, renovated, bed was comfortable. There was noise from outside so can't sleep well with open windows. Free coffee in the room and also in the breakfast area. Elevator and room service also good.

if you expect a hotel you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a bed and breakfast stay you could procced with the booking. It is at the centre of the town, which is good but do not have more than one luggage. You have to carry it. You should be prepared for unfriendly receptionist. small rooms. do not book the junior suite. do not visit during christmas. no festive ambiance at all.

This hotel is spotless with lovely rooms, a really great breakfast, amazing bathrooms and the location is ideal. Will be visiting Freiburg again in the Spring and will return to this hotel. Would recommend!

Lovely Goldilocks hotel - not too big, not too small, just right. Occasionally hotels just work perfectly, this is one of those. Great location (opposite a small park, five minutes walk from station, near old town, own paid parking), very friendly staff, well prepared breakfast (from crispy bacon and smoked trout through to fresh fruit and yoghurt), coffee/tea and fruit available free all day plus fridge in room and a serve-yourself honesty bar near reception for cold drinks. And there's conveniently a supermarket next door. I didn't even try the sauna (well it was 29 degrees outside). Plus they make a real effort to be environmentally friendly and source their food appropriately. And proudly display their dozens of environmental awards ….. Room was large, modern bathroom medium. My room 106 and (only) a couple of others have a small balcony overlooking the park which was nice.

Hotel is in walking distance from the main station. The Altstadt is very close by. All floors of the hotel are accessable by lift. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast buffet is moderatly priced and offers a wide selection. There is also a bar on the premise. Highly recommend it!

Stylish hotel dating back to 1870 but fully modernised. Loved that it runs entirely on self-generated renewable energy (solar, wind), and in general is very environmentally friendly. Rooms are comfortable and a decent size, bathroom is compact but functional. Everything spotlessly clean. Breakfast was pretty decent, although oddly the coffee machine did not offer a Latte Macchiato option. Book parking ahead - we were even allocated an individual garage. They offer free (solar energy) charging for electric / hybrid vehicles but there are limited spots so be sure to mention this when you book if you need it. The only let-down is the Wifi in the rooms. At least in our room (207) the signal was poor to non-existent, unless you were standing near the door. I can only assume there are no repeaters in the rooms themselves. This is clearly not up-to-date and needs attention. We ended up resorting to using my phones personal hotspot and data, not exactly ideal. This Hotel is located on the South Side of Eisenbahnstraße very close to the Altstadt: right opposite the Colombipark. It does have a small Hotel Car Park, which gets full quickly. A subsidised Rate is available for the nearby Rotteckgarage for which there is an entrance just round the corner on Rotteckring. The Parking directly in front of the Hotel is metered and very expensive. The Rooms vary in size but are spacious and very well maintained. There is a good selection of food for the Buffet Breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Given that this hotel is part of a chain, we did not have high expectations. What we found was a very comfortable hotel, very clean and well presented with furnishing in pale teak, giving an almost Scandinavian look. The buffet breakfast was excellent and available in a beautiful room, whose wood panelling and large chandeliers seemed as elegant and unchanged as it would have been when its opened over 100 years ago. The staff were great and the location, within walking distance of the train station and on the edge of the old town was excellent. Hemingways Bar in the basement is worth a visit.

There is a little bit of an air of faded grandeur about the hotel and our room but that could do with a spruce up but the service was excellent in particular the front desk and the breakfasts excellent. The hotel is very convenient for the city, the station and the tram network but the steps up to the entrance are a pain if you have heavy luggage.

Didn't actually stay here but felt have to congratulate the front desk staff for their excellent service. We were stuck in the city centre after the train service was suspended last night due to a bomb alert. To our surprise the front desk staff happily organised a taxi for us to get back to our accommodation in the suburb. I accidentally left my scarff and hat in the taxi. Returned this morning to see if I can track down the taxi Co. Again the same staff made a call for us without hesitation. Yet to track down my lost property but either way, the hotel deserve to be congratulated.

Horile parking I came by my own car , but hotel parking was full only avible space we on car lift. This are such as rest of hotel parking was very dark I find space for may standard car VW Sharan in the are life box TSharan standart Higt is 1,476m an I'm taller because my Hight is 1,90m I saw good space for my car, bude the my car was in the middle some gray metalic stick which was in shadow destroy some parts of my car roof When i looked about the situation a I was out of my car a didi see this grey stick again, because she was in shadow. After this a walk around the whole garage a neve find or si some atetiones or instrukci bot the Hght of this area, as you ca se on my pictures. I think this in nis parking standard i for star hotel How you repay my car and you will compensate my bad experience in my hotel. I'm waiting for hotel manger or hotel owner and i like to know how the repair my car a how the will compensate me for this bed experience from their hotel.

Hotel in central location, old building but in good, renovated condition. Parking is small, with limited space. Lobby is a bit old fashioned, clean and friendly staff. Room was very quiet and good quality bed. Breakfast nice selection of all kind of good.

This hotel has easy access and its own private car park. It's in a good location, just 10 minutes to walk to the muenster square. Check-in was simple and quick (all hotels should do this!), and the staff were all very friendly. The hotel has a lift. Unfortunately, the hallways are carpeted, which is not easy for rolling luggage. Our room was a good size and basic but decently appointed with hardwood floors (yes!) instead of carpet (all hotels should do this!). Another bonus is that it was quiet. Unfortunately, the room lighting was rather dim. The bed was comfortable with all non-feather bedding--excellent for allergy sufferers. Each nightstand had a power outlet--perfect for charging phones and devices at beside. The room had a teakettle and a minibar. The bathroom was large and well lit, with a shower/tub combo. The shower water pressure was great and the hot water stayed hot. The towels were huge, but on the thin side. The toilet seat cover/bench was a cool use of space. There was also hair dryer and a magnifying mirror. I would definitely stay here again.

We ordered a king size bed in a comfort room (for 3 persons). We got a tiny room with no king size bed (definitely no room for 3 persons). The shower had no door to it and was separated from the toilet. We also reserved garage parking but were told it wasn't reserved (although we had a mail saying otherwise). When we asked to switch rooms we were given an inferior room (smaller category), we were told it was the only rooms left (although when checking in booking we saw there were other rooms available in similar or better categories open for reservation). The bathroom wasn't clean (sticky floor) and the toilet was folded (not very hygiene). The staff was very unfriendly and didn't offer any compensation at all, even didn't want to change the price at the beginning although the inferior product received. Overall my worst best-western hotel experience (and i've been in many). Would not recommend anyone this hotel!!

We stayed here three nights. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was great. Each and every one of the staff went out of the way to be helpful and provide information. As a bonus, it is in a central location which provides good shopping and restaurants.

We‘ve enjoyed a lovely stay at this hotel. We had a very Nice room, including all the necessary you need for a comfortable stay. The healthy breakfast was very delicious. The employees were very nice too. We can recomend this hotel!

I stayed here for 2 nights with my family (wife and 2 kids aged 7 and 5). We had a spacious family room. The location is very central- both to the old town centre and railway station being less than a 10 mins stroll. There is parking available though the staff could have explained to us better on charges for parking outside.

Profile: family of 5: 3 in room 201/202 and 2 in Room 108 arriving on July 4 for one night with minivan Pros: location and garage. The July 5th desk coverage was wonderful. The two women were empathetic for the problems we encountered below. It resulted in a reduction in the price and the garage stay was waived. Cons: Upon arrival, the women covering on July 4 at around 8 pm indicated we would be split up and moved to two different floors...cool ok with that. 3 of us were put into room 202 and there was a separate adjoining room 201. Room 201 the A/C was adequate. It also had a sleep sofa which lacked the bedding or guidance to open it up. For room 202, the A/C was dreadful. We could not regulate to get below 12 degrees. When we went down to the front desk the women there said she could do nothing since they were all booked up that was B.S. Eventually, the night clerk a nice guy but overstressed really attempted to accommodate us but he was running all over the place. He was providing fans to room 202 to try to cool it down, getting bedding for the sofa bed, and then coming up and trying to figure out how to open it up. In the end, one of us stayed in 201. For us in 202, he "somehow" found a room 360 with adequate A/C. The next morning, the 2 lovely women were aware of our issues and compensated us for our troubles (thank you) but who want that when your on vacation.

We spent one night at this hotel. At first glance, the suite looked nice. Then we realized that it was not as clean as it could have been, especially in terms of being dusted. My phone slid under the armchair (raised, no skirt- would be easy to clean under)- when I picked it up, it was completely coated in dust. The tops of the goose-necked bedside lamps were also dusty. We chose this hotel because it was airconditioned. While I appreciate that there was a record heat wave while we were there, the main room was too warm sleep in. My daughter was sleeping in a smaller room (pull-out couch in a sitting area) that was much cooler- I think the problem was there was the same sized unit for both spaces, and the one in our room could not keep up. (we had the air con set the same in both rooms.)

Went here as part of a business trip. The hotel is ideally located close to the center and very close to the railway station. Easy access to all key facilities and a major garage around the corner for parking. The rooms are relatively modern and of modest size. The bed is very comfortable. There is an in-room refrigerator and a modern coffee maker. The bath room is small but perfectly fine for a few days. The rooms have free internet and a modern television. The breakfast buffet (16 EUR/Person) is very good. The buffet has warm eggs, sausages and bacon and plenty of bread, slides meats, cheese and fresh fruit. Special coffee variations available on demand.

Great room for a family of 4. We could charge our Tesla at the hotel (for an extra cost). Close to the city with shops and restaurants. Good standard of the room. Ok breakfast, not so many choices, but ok.

I stayed here in early February 2019 for 3 nights. The rooms are renovated and very well maintained, the style differs from usual hotel style and is very personal. the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is nicely furnitured in old style with wooden panels, with mirrors, and very comfortable chairs. Very cosy atmoshpere. The breakfast itself offers everything you might like, and there are variations of specialities offered. They have (limited) parking at an agreeable fee, and the relevant doors open automatically which I find extremely helpful when carrying luggage from the car to the reception. To reach the cathedral (Freiburger Münster) you have to take a short walk, less than 10 minutes.

We received a friendly welcome. Rooms were small but perfect for a 2 night stay. The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to the train station and near the shopping and restaurant district. During our stay the Freiburg Christmas Market was on, it was very atmospheric and I think the best market I went to in Germany (we went to 4).

Very nice and welcoming staff. The hotel is ideally located near the railway station and the old town. Very nice and big suite perfect for a family. Very clean room. Nothing really to complain about. Breakfast is slightly expensive when you are a family and it could be included in the price

Very central to downtown and the university. Great access to the markets and lots of great eating places. We never drove. The hotel is lovely and even facing the street was very quiet. The bar is amazing. The bartenders were artists and made amazing drinks. Breakfast is excellent. Lots of choices and a beautiful room to eat. Coffee was excellent and the brought a Coke Light for the Mister.

We stayed 4 nights at the end of September 2018 and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was small (business King), but it was well equipped and the shower was great. Breakfast was a very extensive buffet and worth the price. We visited both bars and can highly recommend them --- even if you don't get a drink. We parked our car when we arrived and did not need it until we left 4 days later --- the hotel is in a perfect location.

Good location near the train station and the Altstadt. Limited parking but they have some. An environmentally conscious hotel that claim to the most environmentally friendly in the world. That may be a stretch but it is pretty good. An older hotel indicated by the staircase but otherwise in very good condition. Rooms were tight for two people. If one person was in the bathroom, pretty hard for a second person to come in to grab something. Toilet seat cover was a wooden bench that came over entire seat. A functional use of space but a bit weird to get used to. It made a nice seat for drying your toes or whatever. Beds were firm, pillow selection good, kettle and tea in room with mini fridge. Coffee, tea, and fruit always available in the lobby. The 15Euro per person breakfast was good quality with lots of offerings although there was no variance in our 3 night stay. If you are a fan of loose leaf teas you will be pleasantly surprised by their selection. The smoked fish were very good. While they don't advertise it anywhere, they have bikes available to use. The fitness room was miniscule – it was funny to think of someone swinging one of the kettleballs and trying to avoid destroying the place or themselves. At the rates the hotel could be decent value especially if you get a deal.

This hotel was a great stay. Easy check in and parking. Good central location and within walking distance from shops and restaurants. The room was clean and had good amenities. Loved the eco friendly aspect of the hotel. It was very comfortable!

It's amazing what they've achieved at modernizing this old building. Nice little reception, complimentary delicious coffee, über eco friendly, tasteful, nice rooms, helpful staff, the best option for breakfast in Freiburg and above all, a secret amazing bar downstairs. My only complaint is that their TVs are too small and there's no way they can take HDMI signal from a computer or AppleTv, it's really frustrating.

Hotel centrally located. Freiburg a charming city with internationally significant Universities located at the foothills of the Alps and the edge of the black forest. Beautiful area surrounds Freiburg. There is a 6 day market around the central church and a wide range of small shops (butcher, cheese, bread, pastry, fruit...) and thankfully very few international stores. Rooms very nice and reasonably sized with good light. Front desk very helpful. Buffet breakfasts were very good with fresh and quite varied offerings. Only complaint was the smell of cigars as you enter the hotel - they have a cigar lounge/shop.

Knew August would be hot so reserved a suite with air conditioning for 4 days in August. AC did not work. Reported it to front desk and was told it was a ground water eco system that does not work effectively when it is hot? Shower was plugged and flooded the bathroom. When we checked in, front desk asked if we wanted onsite parking for 12E/night for 4 nights and we said yes. Other than 1st night, there was never a parking space. We were told that we could use the parking ramp up the street for their special rate of 18E/night. Ate breakfast 1st morning for 15E/person, determined it was lame and went elsewhere after that. Window of suite looks over glass roof of bar so bar patrons can look into suite. Carpet in hallways and stairs was dirty. Freiburg is a strip mall with graffiti, stay in Staufen.

In our 3 weeks of travel in Germany & France, this hotel came in 1st place for a total lack of Hospitality. 1. At Check In we were told to return at 3:00 and that was the Hotel's check in time. When we returned at 3:00 we were then informed the Hotel had a late checkout from our room and it was not finished and required an 'inspection'. We then waited in the hall for the room to be completed and we ended up in the room after 3:00. When confronting the Manager about this she was only combative and unable to make any kind of concession or acceptance of their failure to have the room ready at 3:00. It seemed like this was business as usual, not only for the staff, but management as well. Amazing... 2. We rented a suite, the very top of the line room we were told. The Air Conditioning was noisy and ran constantly all night long and clearly lacked the capacity to properly cool the room of this size. When confrontaing the checkout clerk, they were quick to point out that since I did not call for them to service it, it must not be a problem. Again, business as usual. 3. Plumbing sounds in the walls. There were sounds of gushing water in the pipes from upper floors that ran directly behind the headboard on the bed. I guess German engineering was not applied that well to this facility. Mentioned this at checkout, and the clerk just ignored the feedback as business as usual. 4. Beware of upcharging. During checkout we had to correct the clerk as she just assumed we had the hotel breakfast. Seemed like business as usual, and we had to push the fact that we truly did not have their breakfast and not to charge us. 5. Poor sound insulation. We could hear blowdriers, conversations from other rooms. Again, poor facility engineering that certainly fell far short of all the other hotels we had stayed at in Germany. 6. Staff attitude. All the staff and management have a very strong and conditioned attitude that the customer is wrong and only the hotel is right. It seemed so deeply ingrained in the culture that it remined us of staying in a military type of government facility. This place really is conceptually handicapped when it comes to Hospitality. How they rose to a "Best Western Premier" level is truly baffling, but we are certainly going to consider our alternatives in the future and will never stay at this hotel again.

Very clean nice rooms, great bed and shower. We had a lovely view of grape vines in the park opposite. Hotel is in a great location about 10 minutes walk into the centre of town. The staff are very friendly too

The Best Western Premier Hotel Victoria is well located just 5min walk from the main train station. The Hotel is cosy and rooms are modern Positive points: - The location - Wifi is good - Clean room and hotels - Free coffee and tea near the reception - Facilities like Gym and Sauna. Sauna is very nice and clean. - Rooms are modern, well decorated - Very quiet place, no noise the evening, excellent bed Points to improve : - The welcoming at the arrival was rough and little nice - Fridge would be nice especially the summer to have some fresh water Perfect hotel to stay 1-2 nights to explore the city

I simply can not recommend this hotel because of the lead receptionist. She was constantly rude - short as possible in her words, cold, unhelpful to the point of making you feel that you are wasting her time and holding a smear of a smile that spoke of arrogance. Pity as otherwise the hotel is just fine.

We enjoyed our short stay at rhe Best Western in Freiburg very much. The rooms are nice, tidy and well equipped and the hotel staff is friendly. The breakfast is awesome and rhw location is perfecr for all sorts of expeditions in and aeound Freiburg.

Enjoyed my week at the Victoria while in Freiburg on business. Good location steps afrom the train and from the center. Excellent breakfast. Small but comfortable room. True, the receptionist was cold and officious. Nary a smile. But otherwise a nice stay.

First impression failed. The front desk lady on duty on 27 May didn't greet us with courtesy, instead, with a great deal of arrogance, asked my wife "Yes?" as if we didn't look like hotel guests waiting to check in. Prior to that, we had to drag all our luggage up the stairs at the front of the hotel and inside as well. No hotel staff came out to help us and there was no apologies offered either. Certainly a very cold reception on the first day. Another annoying thing she did was that she wrote the wrong door number on our room card! On other days she was on duty, she was the same - didn't bother to say hi or have a good day etc. On our last day, before the check out time, we went out briefly and on our return, the door to our junior suite was wide open, a lady not in uniform was in the room looking around! she said to us 'housekeeping' then walked into the other room and left. We have stayed in many hotels and never had an 'inspector' (we suspect) in our room before checking out. The cleaner lady also opened our door quite a few times to without knocking first while we were still in the room resting that last morning. It was simply disturbing and annoying. We didn't like the waterproof mattress protector which made the bed hot and stuffy to sleep in. We do want to praise the male staff on duty in the evenings. He was friendly enough and provided some really practical travel info (e.g., availability of a provincial/regional rail ticket which is valid for a day and can be used for travelling to black forest towns). In certain areas of the hotel you can smell cigarette smoke. Coffee provided in the room or the lobby area wasn't good. Even though the hotel facility and location is ok, we definitely cannot recommend this hotel.

Our family of 4 had a comfortable stay. There was a separate bedroom and a sofa bed. The hotel was clean and quiet and in a nice area close to the train station as well as the town. If we are ever in Freiburg again, we will stay here. HIghly recommended.

This hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the main bus/train station in one direction, and about 5-10 minutes from the main shopping area in the other direction. The bus station is also served by an hourly direct bus service to the Euro Airport at Basel. We had a suite/family room with a bedroom, connecting corridor come office, and a sitting room. Nicely decorated in a modern style, clean and all the facilities you would expect. Including free WIFI, mini bar, coffee making facilities, safe, television etc. We had breakfast in the hotel and this was very good with a selection of continental and cooked food. We did not eat our other meals in the hotel so cannot comment on these. There is a small area off the reception with seating and free coffee all day, we found this good for meeting and chatting with friends without going up to our room. We only stayed a couple of days but would happily have spent longer here.

Excellente location. Price / quality good ratio. Breakfast high quality (all the important items are there). Rooms (in the old section) nice with high ceiling. Bath etc new and nice. Fitness - sauna ... forget about it - not worthwhile event mentioning. Service efficient but don't expect any warm smile or emotion. Matter of fact - that is what counts there. All in all very nice - if back in Freiburg - again my stop.

We chose this hotel because of proximity to the train stop and old town. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised by the central location and the staff of this hotel. A very short walk from the train station, and a nice one too. The front desk was very helpful, friendly, and professional. Our room was smaller, but perfect. Those that worked the front desk helped us with directions, useful tips for the town, and assisted with reservations to nearby tours. The breakfast served was on point; excellent. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will be returning.

A comfortable stay, 5min walk to the main train station and less to the town centre. Clean hotel and nice bar area. Breakfast has a lot of organic foods but really is limited especially for vegans. Would be great to see alternatives especially as the shops offer good possibilities. There is a gym and sauna but I did not try. Hairdressers within the main entrance. Rooms modern and clean, beds firm but I liked it - did not like the 2 singles pushed together to make a double though.

A good place to relax after seeing sights or doing business in the city. Small rooms but comfortable enough for a single traveler. Fast wifi. Quiet. Convenient to everything (university and all tourist interests). Friendly staff. Not luxurious but certainly above average.

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel. We always had a parking spot, easy walking distance to stores and restaurants and close to the university. The room was compact - had to be organized and creative to find a place to keep the suitcases. Only drawers were very narrow so there wasn't much room to put clothes. Had to pile up all the notices, advertised items etc. to get enough horizontal surface to place our toiletries, camera bag or any items we had. We did like how eco this hotel is and visiting the sun room on top to see the solar panels was very interesting and a great place to relax. It was the only place on our two week holiday that we had to pay extra for the breakfast. It was very good and worth it because we really couldn't recall seeing any restaurants close by that served breakfast- mostly all lunch and supper to the university students. Staff were okay.

There are many things to like about this hotel. They give you free travel cards, although it requires a bit of persuading, the rooms are large for being so central and they are clean. The staff give you the standard level of service you expect in Germany which is fine and the optional buffet is definitely worth the price. The reason for not giving 5 stars is that the wi-fi is open meaning anyone near the hotel can get onto it without being a guest. Whilst there I dealt with multiple hacks to my email accounts which has never happened to me before, in fact, I could see that they were attempting to gain access in Germany. If they could sort this out it would be the perfect hotel for Freiburg.

This hotel is located very close to the Altstadt of Freiburg, short walk and you are there. Very comfy room, with a good bed. The green touches are very nice. Breakfast was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The weather was not good while we were there, so no bar during the summer, only outdoor seating. Staff very helpful.

There are so many great things about this hotel: *Free travel cards - we did a trip to Titisee on them which is about 45 minutes by train. *Free bike hire (first-come-first served - just three bikes). *Roof terrace with solar panels and wind turbines. *Coffee machine in our room, but friendly staff provided a kettle when asked. *DVD (+player) hire - with some DVDs in English. I hired one from the German list but it also had an English soundtrack. *Spacious room - maybe due for a decor update soonish, but nothing terrible, quite neutral. *The toddler travel-cot had a little door that could be unzipped to climb through rather than lifting. Pros and cons! Tip: the room was overlooking the street - I thought it would be overlooking a park, which it kind of is, but there were also roadworks close nearby. This didn't cause us any problems. The park we thought we'd be able to eat a picnic dinner in, which we did, uneventfully, but it didn't have the greatest evening vibe - felt slightly unsafe. The only improvement would be a swimming pool, but if you're sight-seeing, there's not always time anyway.

The location. The staff. The hotel take place in a wonderful old building, one minutes from the "action". The parking garage (if you get luck the catch one) is a big benefit in the area. The location is nearby to all the shopping area and the tourist interesting things.

Stayed at Hotel Victoria with my two sons for visiting the Europa Park. The location is great! It is a very short walk from train station and very close to Münsterplatz and the cathedral. As we booked last minute, the room was a little tight for us three, although comfortable and with a nice bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast with a good selection.

This hotel is a very short walk from the train station, and it's also just outside the alstadt and very close to the university, where I was attending a conference. My room was beautiful, with high ceilings, hardwood floors, and a juliet balcony. It also came with a Nespresso machine and refrigerator; the prices for the mini bar were very reasonable. However, I probably wouldn't return to this hotel in the summer. While my room was air conditioned, I could never get the temperature down far enough to offset the down comforter on the bed. They seemed to have some sort of plastic protector on the bed that, combined with the comforter and down pillows, made it unbearably hot at night. I slept horribly all three nights I was there. Those who are more tolerant of heat would probably be fine, and I'm sure the room would be great in the winter. This was just a bit too toasty for me in the summer. Service was also mixed. The woman who did my check in and check out was wonderful. However, one of the other women had a very frosty demeanor and wasn't helpful with giving directions. The young man working the desk when I went to ask for an iron was also not very friendly, and didn't offer to help carry the unwieldy ironing board and iron up to my room when I was obviously struggling. One peculiar and amusing thing about this hotel is that the beds (at least the king beds) have built in music boxes! You pull a little string on the headboard (I thought it was going to turn on a light), and it plays the Brahms lullaby for you! Super weird, but also memorable! (Just make sure you don't pull the string all the way, or you'll be listening to that lullaby for a looong time!)

Stayed here for a lay-over day before auditing a supplier near Freiburg. My luggage getting lost on the way to Basel had luckily showed up at the hotel in Freiburg, and they had already brought it to my room. The hotel is situated less than 5 mins. walk from the railroad station and about the same from the center of Altstadt. Check-in was fast and efficient and I got tickets for the local transit as well as a street map of Altstadt and some good advise on where to have dinner later on. The room had a fair size for single occupation with an excellent double bed and a nice bathroom, which at first puzzled me, since it lacked a toilet. But closer scrutiny revealed that the toilet was hidden under a lid, doubling as a shelf in the pathroom. The room was a bit hot, but since the weather was quite fair, I was able to sleep with the window ajar, even in April (the Japanese cherry trees were in full boom at that time). Breakfast was excellent, with a nice buffet and fresh bread. It is fairly easy to get to the old city center from the hotel - here you can find a plethora of different shops and nice restaurants. As Freiburg is a university city, the night life is lively and vibrant - always easy to find a nice watering hole... Recommendable.

Surprised to discover the hotel was heated by wood pellets, they filer their water, serve some Bio food and in general are doing things with more consciousness. The location was ideal as we could walk from the train station and then to the venue for a concert.

We recently stayed in this hotel and we were very pleased. The location is close to the train station and is in a very nice area. The rooms were quite nice and comfortable. Good wifi. We heard the breakfast was good, but it was not included with the room and was quite pricey to add on, so we passed on that. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Overall we were quite pleased and would stay here again.

This hotel is straight up from the station about 5 minutes walk. Also 5 minutes to the old town. A lovely park over the road. A supermarket a few doors down the street. It is very environmentally friendly which is excellent. Totally a green city. Electric car recharge out the front of hotel. Go up to the roof top and see the solar panel and enjoy a drink or just sit in the swing and enjoy the quiet. Very helpful staff. Rooms very clean with fridge,tea/coffee facilities. Free local bus transport, good free wifi.

My wife and I spent a week there in May. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station and across the street from an entrance to a pedestrian walkway. From the hotel we were able to easily walk to all the special places we wanted to see. As for the hotel itself, our room was spacious and the staff very friendly. There was a small parking area at the hotel but we found it easier to get our car in and out of the underground garage around the corner.

Good location near the train station and near the old town. We were initially in one of the older rooms, which were decent sized and had a lovely modern bathroom. But after about 5 mins we got a stale smoke smell (in a no smoking room). The front desk handled this really well, and moved to us to another newer room which has been recently renovated. Wooden floorboards, electric blockout curtains and a modern bathroom made it a very comfortable stay. Would recommend, but perhaps worth trying to get the newer rooms.

This a great hotel right close to the city and the train station. It also has limited space for parking. The room was a three bed, very spacious. The bathroom lacked shampoos and body creams. The body cream was empty by the second day and unfortunately it was not replaced. Breakfast was great. The hotel boasts that it is eco friendly and uses renewable power sources for energy needs.

The hotel is nice, the location is perfect, it is fully airconditionned, which is mandatory, they even have private parking However, I must admit that the lady treating our check out was totally impatient with us, to the contrary to the couple checking out in front of us, which spoke German....

We were unable to stay here, as my husband had a heart attack and was not able to travel. We had to cancel our reservation, but received NO help from hotel management, even with two weeks notice. We were told they didn't believe us, even when we would have submitted a Doctor's report. The management said they didn't care, and were tired of losing money. We had no problems canceling other reservations all over Germany.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years, it is always our first choice when visiting Freiburg. As always we could fault nothing, the welcome, the room and lovely bathroom, the breakfast. This time we stayed 5 nights and were really sorry to leave. Next time we are in Freiburg this will be our first choice again.

It took only a few minutes to walk from the central station to the hotel. Just crossed the road and I could get to the old town. I booked a comfort room and I love it. Near the reception there is an area for hotel guests to relax and drink coffee.

We enjoyed 1 night in this hotel. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was particularly cool - we loved that you could listen to the radio in the shower. The only downside was that we had other guests being loud outside our room at around 1am which woke me up - no fault of the hotel though. Would stay again.

The staff was fantastic!!! The room was great and very comfortable! If you Rent-A-Car it's a must to get the garage it's worth the money. Yes the hotel is very eco-friendly. I will be staying there again when I go back.

I could really not take neither the hotel hard product or the staff in fault! Everthing was tidy and clean. The room is nicely made. Nice touch : the window blinds are electric powered and the controls are just near the bed. You can then close/open the blinds directly when in the bed, which is a real plus ! Hotel is like 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral (city-center). The bathroom was tiny but very clever in the way they used space.The shower was like at home! Free Wifi. Very nice but small fitness/sauna/relaxing room area. At the reception, 24/24 tea/coffee machine and fruits. And last but not least, the whole hotel is participating in a green "Ecoleader" programm, and there are at the best level 5/5. Eg. you only have led lights, they have linen and towel re-use plans, properly treat waste water etc... If I have to find some negative points, the parking is not free (they have a negociated price with a public underground parking for 12Euros/24h). The room could have been somewhat bigger. And they could provide breakfast in the price of the room.

Great location, less then five minute walk from train station. Supermarket one minute walk, city center, less than five minute too. Room is cost, restaurant provides best breakfast. Sauna and gym available. One thing to improve is to have ramp for gusts to bring in and out of the hotel. There are 5/6 stairs to climb and another 1/2 stairs before we could reach the reception. It's not easy with my 30 kg luggage. There is a ramp to car park but was never offered to us as alternative. Please do something to ease the guests with heavy luggages. Overall satisfied

We spent two nights at the Victoria and all of us (two 50+ adults and 3 young adults) loved this hotel! Old world charm mixed with modern upgrades and a great use of space. Location is a short, enjoyable walk to Old Town and there is a museum and green space across the street. Garden on the top of the roof is very cool and is definitely worth a look. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Rooms are very comfortable, with charming and well-thought out innovative touches. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay!

Recently had a lovely 3 days in Freiburg and stayed at the Victoria. Its a good base as its close to everything. Turn left out of the hotel and at the end of the road is the train station/bus station, turn right out of the hotel and within a minute or two you are in the centre of town. The free bus and train tickets you get from reception make exploring the region very easy. We used them every day, taking the train to Lake Titisee and the bus to the Schauinslandbahn life. I would definitely stay again when visiting Freiburg

I went to this hotel with my family and my dog, and everyone was treated exceptionally good. My dog even received a pot with a package of food! The room was gorgeous, not too big but enough. We didn't have breakfast there (a bit expensive).

We stayed here at Christmas 2016 and we loved it. The hotel is central , close to the old town, but quite. We loved our room with the window to the park, I think it was room number 305 (?) , nice bathroom, comfortable bed, room was at least 20qm, it's worth taking the bigger one!!!! ( about +20€) friendly staff Great breakfast buffet , also with healthy options, mostly biological!, A "green" hotel ( I would love all hotels like this) - they have solar panels, wind turbines on the roof, great "Grander" Water. If we come to Freiburg again , we won't hesitate to come back:-)

Stayed in a junior suite. Was extremely well appointed and comfortable. It had two full fledged bathrooms. What a bonus. Within two hundred metres from the main train station and the beautiful pedestrian area on the other side. Made for a perfect location. Restaurants,bars and bakeries virtually at the doorstep. Lovely breakfast, breakfast room and staff at reception and elsewhere including the popular Hemmingways bar. Pl look no further when travelling to beautiful Freiburg.

This hotel had fantastic rooms, bed was very comfortable and hotel was very clean with excellent staff. Great location, just minutes from central town. It has a great bar downstairs and has received awards for being "Green". We loved this place.

I stayed one night at this hotel near the train station and historic Freiburg. The property is about five minutes walk from the station and convenient to many attractions of the city as well as tram service. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom was stylish with nice amenities as well. The lobby was compact but attractive and there was a comfortable sitting room with a coffee machine available to guests. There was a very small fitness center (treadmill and bike) with a sauna which looked appealing but I chose to run on the old streets instead. I didnt try the breakfast- there is a market very close and plenty of cafes to fill you nearby. The internet in my room was ok, my phone had trouble keeping the signal my computer was fine. The checkout was on the early side 11am though they extended to 12 without hesitation. I was satisfied given its location and reasonable cost.

The BW is well situated to walk the old town and rooms are reasonably clean. Finding the hotel is easy but parking is another matter entirely -- we were told there was private, covered parking and arrived to discover the parking was full and uncovered. Parking in front of the hotel is taken by a car sharing service, not convenient for travelers arriving on a busy afternoon! There is an underground garage 2 blocks away, which is totally fine save for being under construction. The BW's bedding and towels claim to be organic but we were itching all night long. Our friends in another room had the same experience. While the room has AC, it wouldn't cool below 22C, our options were to leave the window open and hear/smell smoke from the downstairs bar or sleep in warmth. The front desk staff was unhelpful upon checkin but their attitudes calmed the next morning upon checkout. Next time we'll skip our stay in Freiburg.

I stayed here two nights and found it to be a clean, bright and comfortable hotel. It is located within short walking distance from the train station and also to the major sites in the city such as the open spire cathedral. The staff was friendly, helpful and the beds in the rooms were very comfortable. I would stay here again if visiting the city.

Nice Hotel in the center of Freiburg. no restaurant but there are so many restaurants nearby so that's not a problem at all would be nice to have bigger Fitness room. Friendly people at the reception.

We arrived at what appeared to be an old fashioned hotel, but upon entry we found it to be a modern hotel with excellent staff. Once in our room we were delighted with the layout, size and set up. Only downside was that as we opened the door we were assailed with the smell of stale cigarette smoke. Once in the room we quickly got used to the smell and decided that the smell was trapped in the loop pile floor mat at the end of the bed. We purchased breakfast while we were there and were impressed with the range and quality - well worth the expense.

I booked online one night in a room for 3 people and my confirmation said one bedroom suite which meant a separate bedroom for us and a rollaway for our son. What a surprise when we found out we had 2 bathrooms as well. A nice added bonus. We were happy with the hotel. It was comfortable and quiet. The first check in person wasn't very friendly though. Hotel in good location. Would recommend. We were lucky to be there on a Sunday night so could park in street at no cost and not have to pay hotel parking. Another bonus.

If you are traveling with carry-on's only or one person and love Architecture Digest, Hotel Victoria is the place for you. Lovely hotel, eco status, excellent breakfast in beautiful room though a little pricy at €15 each. Nice lobby room with coffee or tea available all day. Very helpful and pleasant staff. However, easily half of rooms are small (business rooms) with very little place to put belongings in either the room or the bathroom other than hanging part of closet. One comfortable chair but if person is sitting in chair, they have to get up for the other person to go to the small desk. Very comfortable bed and quiet. We had a balcony, nice size but no chairs or place to sit. Within five minute walk to pedestrian zone or in the other direction five minutes to the train station.

The hotel is perfectly located right on the edge of the old centre of the city, so ideal to explore the old centre of Freiburg. The rooms are very nice & the staff is friendly & helpfull. The breakfast was good

This hotel is perfectly situated to walk anywhere in Freiburg and has a small car park to park your car (which you won't need for the city). It's style is very traditional and it prides itself on its Eco credentials. Our room was large, with a good size bathroom and all the usual extras you would expect. The room was quiet and bed comfortable so we had a really good nights sleep. We didn't use the fitness room and sauna but it looked modern, if a little small. The basement bar is worth a visit for some unusual cocktails.

Spent a wonderful week in the Black Forest and Hotel Victoria was our base. Lovely room for family split into two rooms with bathroom area joining the two. Clean, fresh and with lovely high ceilings and air-con (ideal as it got up to 37°C outside). No food on site but lots locally in Freiburg (literally a few steps away), they do have a nice cocktail bar (with non alcoholic ones so kids can join you) with helpful staff ready to translate the menu in English if needed. Special thanks to Sebastian (who seemed to be on reception 24/7) for his warm welcome, advice on restaurants and parking.

I spent a few days in this hotel in August, 2016. Few minutes walk to the train station, even less from the tourist area, pedestrian streets of Freiburg. Really good service, wide selection at breakfast, helpful people.

what started off as one the worst ever check-in experience in all these years of travelling improved quite dramatically. We had arrived at the hotel around 8 pm after an almost 6 hr drive only to be greeted with a "why are you here" look from the receptionist and the check-in experience only went downwards from there on. since we were tired we got through the process and crashed in the room. Next day onwards though the experience changed quite dramatically with every staff we came across being polite, courteous and service focussed. Infact special mention to Sebastian who went out of the call of his duty to assist us beyond normal service hours. Hope the manager reads this and take the necessary steps with the one lady who is ruining their otherwise excellent experience

As we travelled by train this hotel was ideally situated being just 5 mins walk away it's also an easy walk into town to take in the sights or find food of an evening. Room was pleasant, clean and comfortable, not huge but adequate as we were only staying 2 nights on route on our train journey to Switzerland. Breakfast was good, usual continental eggs, cold meats, cheese and breads etc, the dining room is quite grand. From the hotel it's only a 10 to 15 min walk into town to eat of an evening so pretty convenient, and food is served until at least 9 if not to around 10pm so no rush to get there, the hotel has a bar and tables on the street and though we didn't avail ourselves of this it looked busy, there's a eatery in the hotel too. Can recommend as a place to stay for if visiting town.

A good hotel. Decent rooms, good breakfast and in a good location (easy walking distance from the train & bus station and to the city centre, various shops and restaurants etc). Freiburg is a nice laid back city as well. Worth walking up the schloss for an evening drink.

I travell to Freiburg regularly on business and this has become one of my favorite place to stay. Normally I stay 1-3 nights. Good location with walking distance to restaurants etc. Nice rooms even though some of them are on the small side. Breakfast is excellent. What I am missing for a five grade is a larger, better equipt gym. The current one is very small and if two people join before you.. Its full.

Central location - easy walking distance from railway and bus stations, and on the edge of the main shopping and business centre. Free local transport ticket allows visits to local places of interest like Titisee and Breisach.. Civilised with helpful staff and ready availability of hot and cold drinks. Peaceful and quiet atmosphere within the hotel.

Jane and I based ourselves in Freiburg for our July adventure into the Black Forest. After careful research on Trip Advisor and reading of reviews we booked this hotel as it was close to the Railway Station and highly reviewed. Things did not go well from the time of our arrival bearing in mind we were tired after a flight and two train journeys. Despite booking this Hotel through Booking.com on the Trip Advisor Web site the reception staff were unable to retrieve our booking. On being told this my heart obviously dropped and Jane's face went white and she had to sit down. The staff did some enquiry and told me that the booking had been cancelled and had I cancelled it which I found slightly strange as I had arrived at the premises and showed the staff my booking confirmation and subsequent follow up e mails from Booking.com. The staff to their credit were able to give us a room for our 4 nights but it was not the comfort room we had booked but was adequate, clean and cheaper. We were also given a voucher for two free cocktails in the Hotel bar wh in were very nice indeed. The location of the hotel is excellent and just a short walk from the railway station. It is ideally placed for all the attractions of Freiburg. There is garage parking but it is limited and you have to book same at a cost of 12 euros per day. We booked breakfast which is 15 euros and was an excellent choice of buffet and tea and coffee. There is also free tea and coffee throughout the day and night in the lounge area. One morning we received a frosty reception from one of the cleaning staff as we had not gone down for breakfast but that's her problem. Do not get me wrong this is an ideal hotel for visiting Freiburg and is clean, and has everything you need but it did not do it for me. To this day I still do not know how my booking was cancelled.

Our definition of a 2 rating - we would not stay here again. Clean, which should be a given in any hotel. Walking distance to the train station (which is why we originally chose it) and Munsterplatz. In retrospect, would have enjoyed larger room at another hotel and gladly paid for a taxi to the train station. What stands out the most in our memory of this place was its claustrophobic small bedroom and tiny, tiny bathroom. Walkup stairs outside and inside the building upon entry. Why in the world did they install a long lamp hanging from the ceiling that sways to and fro because it's in your way and you bump into it while walking past the bed because there's such a slight passage area? It hangs literally less than approx. 3 ft. from the floor. Never seen a bathroom like this before. Don't even try to have 2 people in there simultaneously to get ready in the morning...no room. The toilet is covered with a "bench", I guess for sitting on while drying off because it can't be used for anything else. Put things on it and they have to be removed to use the toilet. High bowl sink with no room to sit anything and water splashes everywhere. Oh, they do have a cutesy red tassle in the middle of the headboard. Pull it and it plays a lullabye goodnight to you. Would never choose to stay here again.

I had a stayed at the Best Western Premeir hotel several times,last time i was there with my wife when the christmas markets were on full swing..It has always been a pleasant stay.Its centrally located just 3 minutes walk from the train station. The major attractions like the Munster and the old town are walking distance away from the hotel.The hotel was recently renovated. The hotel rooms are neat and clean and they serve a good breakfast, prepared using the products cultivated from the farms near freiburg.

Excellent hotel, 2 minutes walk from the train station. 2 minutes walk from the Town Centre. We stayed for a long weekend visiting friends, a reunion with a few people I had not seen for a long time (since 2002!). Excellent cocktail bar in the hotel basement, one of the best in Freiburg, we visited every night, highly recommend it. The room was very large with a large bathroom, my only criticism would be the shower, the water flow was very weak, however this is an eco-hotel run on solar power, so was to be expected. We arrived back at the hotel very late most nights/ the next morning and there was always someone available on the front desk to let us in immediately. Freiburg is the most beautiful city and I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is perfectly located, walking distance from the train station, and within the city's lovely cluster of attractions. The staff was helpful, professional and the hotel itself is clean, comfortable and attentive.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights! Our room on the 3rd floor was great, and what an amazing bathroom! The staff were lovely, and we adored the roof top garden where we had drinks and chilled out away from the crowds! Parking was ok, on the Saturday when we took the car out it was full and we had to pay 20 euros for parking, but that was the only thing! The hallways were stifling, so hot! But it was a change in season! The Hemingway bar underneath was incredible! We didn't have breakfast as were so full after dinner in restaurants so close to the hotel! You can walk anywhere from here! Highly recommended!

If you want a lovely hotel within walking distance of the train station, various markets and the historic/shopping area of old town in Freiburg, this is it. Rates are pretty good (for Germany), there is inexpensive garage parking for your rental, and you can easily walk the two blocks into the old town shopping and historic district of the city. It is a perfect location. And, if you get there on a Friday, it is market day at the cathedral square with food, crafts, flowers and more along with lovely outside cafes for people watching. Then take the walk over the scenic stroll up the hill to the east of town and stop in a brew at the local beer-garden halfway up the walk. Could not be better, plus the views of the surrounding area are amazing.

2 night stay at this well maintained hotel right in the centre of Freiberg. The hotel rooms have been modernised and are of high standard. Our rooms overlooked the street outside but noise levels with windows closed were ok, but noisy when we opened them in the night for fresh air. The hotel has zero emission rating for its green credentials. The buffet breakfast was well presented using local suppliers for the meat, cheese and breads.

Excellent hotel, comfortable, clean and well appointed near the main train and bus station. Nice gesture to give guests free bus tickets. The only negative for me as a vegetarian is that 15 euros for breakfast is too much. You simply cannot justify the cost for what you can eat. They should have a continental breakfast option. Other than that, I plan to stay there again next year.

Have been staying in this hotel for a number of occasion. Hotel are located ~5 min walk from the train station. The town center is also within walking distance ~5 min. Some rooms are small while some are spacious. I do not know how there are allocated for the guest. This time round I have got the big one. Anyway, the room are clean and bed is comfortable. Breakfast was good too. Free traveling pass around the nearby region are also provided upon request. Overall my 2 night stay was a pleasant one.

I was staying for two nights. Excellent hotel, nice breakfast, very beautifully decotared rooms, especially the shower. Very clean. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the old city center and 3 minutes to the bus/train station.

Ideally located between the railway station and city center, the Victoria Hotelis really a the hotel I prefer in Freibrug! Their commitment for sustanable development, the atmosphere, the design of the room, the quality of the breakfast... everything is great!

The hotel is very close to the Railways station. its very easy to spot as you walk towards the city. The staff at the hotel are very nice and friendly and very helpful. The rooms are medium size, and the bathrooms come with bath tub. Everything looks fresh and new. The location is very good and is surrounded with bars, cafes, restaurants.

We had a good time at Best Western Premier Hotel Victoria. The location was ideal for our short visit to Freiburg. Parking is small so maybe it's better to ask ahead but pricing is okay, Breakfast was good as well. The hotel has two bars one where smoking is allowed, plenty of cocktails to choose from and friendly staff.

Spent one night here on business. Stayed in room 60 which is a double room on the ground floor. There are only two rooms on that end and it was INCREDIBLY QUIET. I loved that. Wifi was spotty, but I still was able to get work done. I walked to the Christmas Market and explored the old city. It was less than 5 minutes walk. From the train, be sure to go out the main entrance to be closer to Eisenbahnstrasse. I went out the far end and had to take a moment to get my bearings. In all I would happily stay in this property the next time in Freiburg.

What makes a great hotel stay? For me it includes friendly welcome, clean everywhere, comfortable bed, excellent shower, great breakfast, good free wi fi. This hotel has it all. We have stayed several times in the Victoria, it is in a convenient location a short walk from the main station and not far from the lovely town centre. Our room was really nice, fresh and clean, well equipped. Although the breakfast may seem expensive it is well worth it! A good selection of hot and cold dishes and very good coffee. We will certainly be staying at the Victoria again.

We have stayed in this hotel several times now and the high quality has always remained the same! Rooms are nice, comfy, cozy and spacey, parquet floor another plus. The sustainability in terms if products and material used it world class! Everything from pillows, covers, soap, drinks, breakfast etc etc is all organic and fairtrade...a lot of hotels and people operating in the hospitality sector should take example in a hotel like this. Good service all around, from bar man making amazing cocktails (try the dark'n'stormy!!) to reception, to cleaning and breakfast ladies! Perfect hotel in a cozy city, I cannot recommend it enough!

One of our many stops throughout Europe, this hotel was very clean, staff was helpful and if you are a smoker there is a smokers lounge/bar in the basement. Location is only a few minute walk to train station and only a few minute walk the other way for shopping and sight seeing. Great spot and would definitely stay here again.

The room I was in was small in size but made up for it in cleanliness and view out the window to a nice little park across the street. The bed was amazingly comfortable and huge with a music box in the headboard and two separate mattress' contained together in one bed for couples who move around a lot (I am assuming), and the bathroom was clean and rather fancy looking. Almost immediately upon my arrival, I realized I had left my passport and wallet on the train with all of my ID, money, and credit cards. I rushed down to the front desk and the woman who was working there at the time, Laura, was extremely helpful. She called the embassy, the train company, and anybody else I needed to call, dealt with my little bit of attitude, and conveyed information to me completely with kindness and understanding. Not once did I feel like just another stupid American tourist, which is amazing. We did end up finding my passport (yay!) but the whole process took a couple hours, and Laura didn't falter in her understanding and helpfulness the entire time. After that I didn't get to spend as much time in the hotel as I wanted to but I had a great nights sleep in the very comfortable bed, and woke up the next morning refreshed for another train ride. The only thing I didn't get to try was the breakfast, partially because of the cost on top of the room but also because of a time crunch. Anyway, I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in Freiburg. I had a great experience there.

Our experience was delightful. The staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms are nice and updated. We were there during the "heat wave" and there was air conditioning in the room. Very good breakfast in the morning.

The staff were very welcoming and the room was clean and a decent size. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant and the bar did not open until 1800. There is a free coffee / tea machine but the water was never hot enough to make tea but this is a German speciality! Parking was available at 12 Euros per day.

We booked into this hotel at the last minute, having been in a series of hotels that had no air conditioning. This was the only hotel we could find with a/c rooms available in Freiburg during this period of extremely hot weather (35-39oC). What a lucky find. The hotel is close to the old town and close to the railway station, on a cobbled road opposite a small park. It has parking facilities too. The rooms were exactly what you would expect from a hotel of this nature; clean, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent. The Wifi was a dream, easy to get on to and always there when needed. We didn't eat here as there was an event going on in the old town - so we visited that instead. The Hemmingway Bar, is a feature of the hotel and provides reasonably priced beer alongside a wide range of (to me) expensive cocktails. Great hotel.
