Very good central Hotel. Nice spacious rooms and excellent breakfast. Location was central, However the Hotel was quiet. Customer service was very good. We will definitely stay there again when in Fougeres

"A comfortable stay"
catinabox, 02 Octobre 2022

A stop over on the way north, and not a huge choice of rooms available so we got a deluxe king size. We were allocated a large room at the back of the hotel and had a very comfortable and quiet night . Nice shower ( only slightly temperamental) and big fluffy towels. Service was helpful but there's no front desk after 10pm. Parking is tricky. The garage was full and we had to park in the free public car park down the road where there were just a couple of spaces left when we arrived. You must book a hotel garage place and we were not advised of this by Booking.com

"Very disappointing"
Tuesday01, 14 Mai 2022

This hotel has no air conditioning or window screens. As a result, you have to leave your curtains and windows open all night to get air into the room. However, then you had to contend light from the street illuminating the room and car traffic all night. The weather was cool but the room was stifling. The room appeared clean but there was mold in the shower. Luckily we only had to stay one night. I do not recommend this hotel.

"Poor night's sleep"
pgbDublin, 30 Septembre 2021

The hotel has poor internal noise insulation. That, combined with the fact that it was warm in the room, so that we had to leave the window open onto the street, made for a poor night's sleep. There was a lot of black mould in the shower and the water took ages to drain from the shower tray. Apart from that, the rest of the bathroom was clean. Going from the car parking through the hotel to reception, you pass a urinal, in full view! The hotel does not have 24 hour reception. Positives: great WiFi, fluffy towels and good location. There are a number of restaurants nearby. But we were glad we walked to Chez Tonton. It was excellent with great service. We cannot recommend this hotel and we would not stay here again.

"Home away from home"
chicktech00, 16 Novembre 2019

I stayed here for several days while on business. The staff made me feel very welcomed and took care of me. I am very greatful for their kindness. I have two jobs and take care of my family. It was so nice to be taken care of for once. The room was very clean and comfortable. I received an email prior to arriving asking about my prefereneces which helped since I needed a parking place which I reserved in advance. There is a restaurant adjoined to the hotel but I preferred to eat at the hotel. They can prepare small meals to eat in their dining room or for room service which I prefer over spending my entire evening in a restaurant alone.

"Nice Hotel"
pmg67, 20 Octobre 2019

We stayed here one night on our way from visiting Mont St Michel and driving back to Paris. The hotel is right in the center of town.Very clean. We had a balcony room. The bathroom was very large and modern. This is a very walkable city. Unfortunately the day we visited Fougeres it was raining something awful. The staff recommended the restaurant in the hotel which was superb. It was the real deal 3 hour French dinner. We chose the price fix for the day. And when the cheese cart came around we barely had enough room to put it. The cheeses were excellent. Wish we had agreeable weather and more time to see the city.

"great location"
Toadsfeet, 22 Septembre 2019

Stayed overnight in order to see the Festival d'Angevines. Great location in the centre of the town. Greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, in fact all the staff we met were the friendly. Room was clean and tidy, decent size and comfortable bed. Buffet style breakfast with decent choices. Recommended and would stay here again.

"Excellent value"
ed84114, 25 Août 2019

Very well located, within walking distance of the castle, bars, shops etc. The castle is something not to be missed, a good half day. The hotel staff are welcoming and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is a cut above the normal (French) bread and jam. A massive bonus is the on site gourmet restaurant, not owned by the hotel but in the same building (reviewed separately).

"Great hotel in the centre of Fougeres"
Ines V, 18 Août 2019

I stayed in this hotel twice. Rooms were nice and clean. The staff was very polite and friendly. Breakfast was good and I really liked it. Close to the hotel is a supermarket, coffee shop, restaurants and bus station, everything you need.

"A warm welcome"
nicka227, 06 Août 2019

I was greeted with a very friendly & warm welcome as a lone business traveller. This is a very decent hotel right in the heart of Fougeres which has a lovely vibe. Terrible experience at Le P'tit Bouchon restaurant which is awful and should be avoided at all costs especially if your British. I would definitely recommend this hotel

"Good value & location "
johno798, 07 Juillet 2019

Central location in town, short walk from bus stop. Staff friendly, good buffet breakfast & coffee. Room a little small but sufficient & no aircon so noisy if needing a window open. But good value so still liked staying at this traditional style hotel.

"Top class service, luxurious comfort, and perfect location"
Lancio, 27 Mai 2019

We made the stay in two rooms, as there was my wife, five children, and me. We travelled in off the ferry and decided to break our journey on route to Brittany by stopping here for the night. The beds and linen were top quality and super comfortable. The hotel managers and staff were so helpful leading up to the stay and during it, including dropping everything to help us find somewhere to park when we arrived. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Fougères, as it's right in the centre. Breakfast was 11€ per person, but children under 5 don't pay, and it was well stocked with pastries, cold meats and cheeses, eggs to boil, delicious tea & coffee and fresh apple and orange juice. Even when there was a small error on my bill, I felt the hotel manager really cared and apologised more than was necessary. All in all, this is a hotel that shows lots of care and attention to their guests and comes with my highest recommendation. The only small detracting point was paying extra for a baby cot - many hotels charge and many don't. For one night, 10€ is excessive when we've already paid for the room rate. Just a point to consider for the future. I'd scrap the charge. It's only a minor point though and doesn't alter my overall enjoyment of the stay.

"Excellent 3 night stay"
JSC34, 23 Mai 2019

We stayed at Les Voyageurs for 3 nights whilst participating in the Rallye de Fougeres. Room was spotlessly clean...bed incredibly comfortable. Huge selection at breakfast...the staff were absolutely charming and so helpful...very professional. We managed to get a space in the small garage Which was well worth the nightly charge. Would definitely recommend this hotel...have stayed in another central Fougeres hotel and this is definitely better ! It is so conveniently situated right by the centre of town.

"Perfect stay with a last minute check in"
Barbara S, 09 Octobre 2018

We drove in to town, looked up Best Western and found this place right in the middle of town. We were directed by the staff where to find a restaurant for a late dinner, loved the downtown area and wished we had more time to stay and enjoy it more.

"Magnificent Stay"
I1139QLdaves, 18 Septembre 2018

For anyone visiting the charming town of Fougeres, this Best Western is definitely the place to stay. The hotel is located beautifully near the heart of the historical area and for those travelling by car, nearby free parking is available. We were very impressed by the newly renovated large suite which offered in room coffee, WiFi, a very comfortable bed and most importantly, a quick step to the medieval end of town. The staff were so pleasant to deal with and very quick to assist with our questions and if I could recall the lovely lady's name we dealt with on check-in I would make special comment here. We really wished we had planned more than one nights stay in this great location as it allows for the quick drive over to Mont St. Michel yet away from the heavy tourism. If there was any point to note it might be that the room we had was not have air conditioned however we were situated where we could comfortably leave the window open and pleasantly not hear any road noise. Certainly would highly recommend staying.

"Good hotel and good location"
657JamesS, 14 Septembre 2018

Good hotel and pleasant room. Very helpful staff. Parking under the hotel which should be reserved on booking. Good location near the main tourist sights, shops and restaurants. Within the hotel is a very good restaurant run by another company.

"Nice location, renovated rooms"
Alenchik, 13 Septembre 2018

Location- very central, in the heart of upper town, 8 minute walk down to the castle. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Parking- parking at the hotel is very limited and not free, but the town of Fougeres has plenty of free parking (unless there is a major festival happening in town- more on that later). Staff- very friendly and accommodating. However, when we arrived to Fougeres, the town was in the middle of a major festival, with the streets leading to the hotel completely blocked off and no parking to be found anywhere nearby. It would have been helpful had our hotel sent us an email prior to our arrival warning us of this situation, so we wouldn't waste time trying to approach the hotel from different directions (and hitting a roadblock every time) or trying to find parking within a reasonable distance. We eventually found a spot (20 minute walk from the hotel, with luggage), but it literally took us over an hour of driving around, which was less than pleasant after a red eye flight. Not their fault, but a warning would have been appreciated, and perhaps a recommendation of where to look for parking under these circumstances (we did get such a warning from a different hotel later during our trip, for example). Room- newly renovated and prettily designed, which is always nice. It was rather small, but well-appointed and it had everything we needed. It faces the main square, so we enjoyed the view. Bathroom- I suspect that not every room/bathroom has the same layout, but ours was really spacious and very nice. Also newly-renovated, and with nice amenities. Breakfast- we did not have breakfast at the hotel, so cannot comment. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

"Couldn't be closer to beautiful sights"
Happytravellers94, 12 Septembre 2018

The hotel building is on a busy little corner where the town begins. There is nowhere to park at the hotel apart from unloading your car but there is free parking a 5 minute walk away. The entrance and interior is quite basic, nothing fancy but I did really like the huge perfume bottles on display in a glass cabinet. Never seen that before. There is no lift and my husband struggled to carry our heavy suitcase up a steep flight of stairs. After that pleasing sight it does go downhill with a dreary corridor and a gloomy, small room although it looked out onto an atmospheric street. The bed was comfortable. We didn't have breakfast. It costs 11 Euro.

"Conveniently located for the upper town, Saturday Market and short walk to the Castle."
Hitchiker_bear, 19 Août 2018

A pleasant welcome at Reception. A comfortable size room, not large but with a good layout, space for luggage storage and clothes. Our room had the toilet separate from the bathroom which was small but not cramped. This room faced the small town roundabout. With balcony doors open the traffic noise was slightly disturbing late at night, with doors closed no street noise at all. A kettle for tea making was much appreciated. Reasonably priced room, breakfast not included in the rate.

"Excellent location"
gmb1947, 01 Août 2018

Right in the centre of the upper town. Good restaurants nearby. Our room was on the front overlooking a busy roundabout but noise level was low during sleeping hours, even with the windows open. Good breakfast with plenty to choose from. Limited parking available at €10 per day. We were able to check out and leave the car there for a few hours whilst we went across the road to the Saturday market.

"Average hotel with friendly staff"
Bazzarutto, 29 Juin 2018

The location of this hotel, in the centre of the mediaeval town of Fougeres, is very good. It is one of those hotels that sits somewhere between traditional and modern, but isn't really sure of where it should be. Firstly let me say that the staff and management are very friendly and welcoming and helpful especially with sorting out parking, which is very restrictive. The rooms are of a good size as are the bathrooms and they have double glazing which means the noise from the busy road outside isn't too intrusive. It is all a bit budget however and you could not class this as a luxury hotel. The Wi-Fi is free but not particularly reliable as is often the case in France. The location of the hotel means that there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. As usual, breakfast is not included in the rate so the cost of bed-and-breakfast gets close to €100 a night mark per room, which is pricey for what you get. Breakfast is very ordinary with the usual pastries cold meats et cetera and no hot food offering. Our stay was ok, but not memorable in any way.

"Perfect location "
Liz W, 28 Mai 2018

Warm welcome, excellent efficient friendly and helpful staff. Superb central location. Good breakfast including local specialities. Comfortable room with large bathroom. Efficient glazing cuts out potential noise from the square. Air conditioning would help too. Ask for a room at the back.

"Excellent stopover"
Dale0042, 01 Mai 2018

The outstanding thing about this hotel was the attention we were given by Madame. She couldn't have been more gracious or helpful. We were a little sad as we had had to cut short our stay further south due to an unexpected event; I had remembered a school trip to Fougeres so chose it for or stopover before we caught the ferry home. However, we were cheered immensely by the treatment we received, the comfort of our bed and the setting of the hotel in the centre of town but we were not disturbed by ay noise. The towels weren't huge but of good quality. Fresh orange juice at breakfast is always a big hit for me, and I was delighted to find it here. We parked in the garage for convenience (€10), and, again, everyone was most helpful with our cases etc. We felt very fortunate to have stayed here at a reasonable price.

"Very nice location and premium service !"
Guy_BEL-BZH, 17 Avril 2018

On our way to South Brittany, we've stopped in this nice hotel to enjoy the visit of the small city. Plenty of nice walks and visits , some good restaurant no doubt that Fougeres is worth a stop... The hotel is very well located, there is a(small) private parking which is a "plus" as it's not always easy to park in the area ... The rooms are nice, the breakfast is very good and you will enjoy a premium service along your stay (my son forgot his sun glasses in the room, they call us back when the cleaning team found them and they kept them till we drove back to Belgium one week later). They will also be pleased to give you some good tips to make the most out of your stay in the city. Net we can only recommend this hotel ! Thank you again to all the employees and owner !

"Ticks almost all boxes"
Otherguru, 15 Avril 2018

I enjoyed my 1-night stay in the Best Western hotel in Fougères. This hotel has a lot of good points: - Central location in the city center - Large parking lot nearby (place de la Grande Douve) - Friendly staff - Fast check-in - Recently renovated rooms - Comfortable and clean - Large rain shower - Very quiet thanks two windows in the bedroom, each with double glazing - Great breakfast with a Nespresso machine and freshly squeezed orange juice (costing 11 euros) - Free Wi-Fi Note that there is no air conditioning, but this was not a problem when I was there as the weather was not too hot.

"Good location"
Veronique E, 08 Novembre 2017

We stayed in this hotel because the bed and breakfast we were planning on staying at was full. It is well located within walking distance of the castle and historic area of Fougeres. Our room was a good size with a nicely equipped bathroom. However it was noisy (right on a busy main street), the internet was super slow, and the hotel parking is ridiculous (holds 6 cars but only 2 can get in or out without moving the other cars), so plan on parking on the street instead - if you can find a parking spot, that is.

"Location great but very very noisy "
pl99ja, 19 Octobre 2017

A 2 night business trip, picked the pace for the location and while it is perfect for walking around and the Internet speed is great..... The noise.... Wood flooring and no insulation means you hear everything, the TV above, walking and more.... 2 nights of very little sleep means I can't recommend at all

"Just a right place.."
PilgrimWorld, 21 Juin 2017

The hotel and the little town are truly an experience! Rooms are decent, clean, the receptionist was helpful, but as the hotel doesn't have 24 hours reception it is complicated when bathroom floods! The hotel has an OK wifi connection, a petit little place for breakfast but just like everything else in the town, maybe not perfect but definitely with the charm. We spent one night here cruising Brittany and loved the place!

"Alright hotel"
Adonai_Nanai, 27 Mai 2017

A nice little hotel in the center of town, walking distance to everything. Rooms are normal size, beds are alright and the shower has good pressure. Breakfast is just ok, and the reception closes in the afternoon, you get a code to get in at any other time, also no receptionist of course. Staff is friendly and very polite.

"Quaint French Hotel"
esp101, 01 Octobre 2016

I chose this hotel for its location in the centre of the medieval town of Fougeres. We stayed in a deluxe king room on the top floor which was adequate but I would not really class it as deluxe. It was very modern but not particularly spacious room. The bathroom was very clean with a very large walk-in shower but no bath. There is a VERY small carpark at the rear of the hotel that you have to pre-book at 10euros per night and there are only 6 spaces. The location is great and only a few minutes walk to the castle and all the shops and restaurants.

"Lovely room, great staff: Go on, spoil yourself!"
Herodotus888, 25 Juin 2016

I'm writing this hugely positive review even though I experienced an unfortunate booking error which meant that I only stayed one night instead of two. First, the room: modern, spacious, spotleesly clean, quiet and a really nice bathroom with timber flooring. Second, the staff: just great. So friendly, professional and simply nice people to deal with. Third, breakfast: fresh orange juice, eggs that you boil on the spot, and the usual other things. Add to that good undercover car parking (book ahead), undercover bike parking, an excellent location....well, what more can I say? (Unfortunately, I had to stay the next night in another hotel down the street which feels like your staying in a hospital! Be careful what you book in Fourges....)

"A great location in this interesting town"
Anne T, 22 Juin 2016

We used this hotel as a stopover having been attracted by the wonderful Medieval castle. The hotel is right in the centre of the town and we went out in the evening and did part of the circular town walk which is really interesting. There are lovely gardens and great views of the castle and we stopped off at a bar in a square for a beer. Our hotel room was a little cosy, there being a very small gap down the sides of the bed, but we had a good night's sleep, despite being on the main road through the town. The bathroom in comparison was quite large and everything worked well. It was good to have tea making facilities in the room.

"A little tired but overall not bad"
ArthurBottomsAlbow, 26 Avril 2016

Our room (106) certainly did not resemble those portrayed on the website (maybe because we had a dog with us), none the less the hotel, whilst maybe needing a spruce up here and there, was clean and tidy and reasonably priced within a ten minute walk of the castle. The staff were excellent so all in all a decent stay at a 3 star venue.

"Probably the best in the area"
srocc, 20 Avril 2016

This hotel is well situated close to the centre of the small town of Fougeres, which is dominated by the magnificent castle. The rooms are typically rural french. Everything you need, but with no fuss. Rooms at the back of the property and those at the top are the quietest, but nowhere is really busy and noisy. There is no restaurant run by the hotel, but there is a great restaurant attached to the hotel run by a family firm. This is a 'must'. Good regional fare made with care and love. The hotel has a breakfast room, with a mediocre buffet breakfast. Its not 'Wow', but comfortable enough.

"Excellent hotel in good location to Chateau"
WendyCanada, 07 Mars 2016

We came upon this hotel in off season and loved it's proximity to the chateaux. Room was modern, clean and most importantly the bed was comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful and included fresh pressed orange juice. We happened to come across this wonderful little hotel en route to Mont. Saint Michel, which is in close proximity. The chateaux at Fougeres is stunning and definitely worth a visit. Both this chateaux and Mont. Saint Michel can easily be done the same day. Would 100% return to this hotel.

"Good location and reasonable size rooms, no airconditioning and mixed service."
CairnsGirl25, 02 Janvier 2016

Initially told there was a room available for 2 nights, then once we had parked the car and brought in all the luggage were then told we had to change rooms after the first night, so were not happy with that. Room was very hot and stuffy so they searched high & low to find a pedestal fan for us which was very nice of them. Rooms themselves were reasonable size with a really nice shower in the ensuite, bed very comfy, good TV. The location was quite central so a short walk to the castle & gardens and all the restaurants and bars, but a little bit of noise from the street.

"Very attentive"
Betty N, 07 Décembre 2015

Very well situated in the middle of Fougere with secure parking - offering a very pleasant walk to the chateau. The room was clean and pleasant, with a buffet breakfast. The reception staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant recommended by them across the passage way would appear to be associated with the hotel.

"Central location and helpful service"
scotswhahae1707, 30 Août 2015

Lovely hotel very centrally located. There is no car parking provided; however we were able to park on the street right outside the hotel as long as the car was moved by 9-ish. The hotel reception staff were very helpful - good English spoken. Didn't opt for breakfast so can't comment.

"Pleasant stay in a lovely location"
martinto8, 28 Août 2015

We was moved to this hotel due to a late announcement of one of out hotel bookings and was upgraded to the deluxe room which was superb, comfortable and ample space. Due to the location of the hotel there was no onsite parking but as we were there on a public holiday we found a free space round the back of the hotel Receptionist was informative and gave us some great recommendation on touring round the area by foot and subsequent had a lovely walk round the town, gardens and chateau Overall a pleasant and quiet stay despite it not being a hotel we chose for our road trip

"Great hotel shame about the parking"
Kevin M, 13 Août 2015

This is a very good hotel. Superior rooms are large, clean and well fitted. Receptionist (Virginie) was extremely helpful. Breakfast was high quality. Six parking spaces are available however most are extremely difficult to access and are chargeable

"An honest stay"
null, 10 Août 2015

This is an honest hotel stay, meaning that there are no frills, no hassling, no problems and tranquil going. The rooms are roomy, the bathroom is clean with all you need. And you can honestly stay for a couple of nights even thought he town is visited in an afternoon.

"Nice hotel"
hypo9010, 08 Août 2015

The western was a great hotel right in the hart of the town... everything was in walkin distance and the staff were friendly.... Me and a friend stayed 1 nite as we were touring france on our motorcycles... the hotel has its own parking garage at rear whitch was good and also free for motorcycles

"Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff"
Andy W, 06 Août 2015

We stayed here for 3 nights using it as a base for exploring the surrounding area - mont st michel just 30 mins away. It was ideal for what we wanted, very clean and comfortable. The staff were great and seemed to genuinely want you to have a nice stay. We just had a queen bedroom which was great value for money. The hotel seemed to cater for cycling guests. We didn't stay for breakfast so couldn't comment but found a baker just round the corner where we bought bread for our picnic each day.

"A very nice hotel"
Camilla Ø, 26 Juillet 2015

My husband and I were staying at the hotel for 3 nights. Hotel des Voyageurs is a pleasant experience. It is clean and modern. The staff is helpful and friendly. The wifi works fine and it is possible to park near the hotel. There is no air conditioning, so we had to keep a window open - and there are a lot of young people who like to drive their scooters at night in Fougeres, so that was a bit annoying.

"Avoid you could be tricked"
lizziedc222, 14 Juillet 2014

Tricked into have a breakfast that they said was free/included then got charged 22 Euro for coffee fruit and an egg. Staff argued for 15minutes so I had to back down and pay. The room was extremely noise due to location by a very busy junction.
