"We visited florence for a short trip mainly to see the impressive Uffizien."

Hotel la Scaletta offeres everything you need for a nice trip to florence. In the middle of the historical centre you can enjoy the spirit of the middle age and the rennaissance. The hotel is tastefully decorated and everything works fine. The best of all is the sensational roof terrace. Breaksfast is extensive and offers high quality.

"Quiet "

We stayed in a large room with a balcony. We Loved the balcony which had a quiet courtyard view. The bathroom has been updated and is modern with a rain shower and hand held option. Staff were pleasant. They brought my wife a birthday wish and donuts which was very much appreciated. They have two USB port chargers for phones without worry about a plug converter. The rooftop is nice for breakfast and had great views. The Location is excellent on the quiet side of the river, and it is just a short walk to everything. They have a small elevator and lots of steps which might be an issue for some people. They need better pillows, and I would have appreciated a down option. There are mosquitoes in Florence, so if you leave the windows open they will haunt you. I would stay here again.

From the first I was rather disappointed with La Scaletta. We stayed at La Scaletta for 3 nights during a 3 week trip around Italy and it was the most expensive hotel and the only hotel that we were disappointed with. The reviews I had read and the photographs I had viewed on the website prior to booking led me to anticipate that the hotel would be a lot nicer than it actually is. Pros: The location near to the Ponte Vecchio was convenient (but as Florence old town is small, anywhere in the old town is convenient). The room size was spacious and the shower water pressure was excellent. The view from the roof top terrace was absolutely lovely (10 euro for an apperol spritz) and there was a good selection for breakfast. Cons: The entrance to the hotel is dark and dingy and leads to a tiny elevator that barely fits 2 people - or alternately you can climb 97 steps to reach the reception area as the lift is very slow. There are multiple staircases (no lift) from the reception area to the accomodation rooms which is ok if you do not have much luggage. The room we were allocated was spacious but very plain and just did not reflect the website photographs (perhaps we were unlucky?). The hotel is 3 star, but is expensive in comparison to all the other 3 star hotels we booked around Italy and just did not meet expectations - a shame, but as we were in glorious Florence we spent most of our time out and about and not in the hotel. I would not stay here again nor recommend this hotel to friends and family.

"Pleasant Stay in Florence"

The room was surprisingly large with a king sized bed, night stands, table and two chairs. The room had a large closet with an in-room safe. The large window opened into a beautiful courtyard. Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nothing short of amazing (large, modern, beautiful, with great water pressure). The bed was very comfortable and we slept without issue. Did not need air conditioning while we were there in October. The location is good next to the Ponte Vecchio. Should you decide to walk from the train station (as we did), use google maps as the hotel site directions were very confusing. If you enjoy walking, most sites can be reached on foot. The hotel itself is located near grocery stores, pharmacies and more restaurant choices than you can ever visit. Compared to the other hotels we visited during our stay in Italy, breakfast was a bit lacking (12 euros). Items were not varied much, but the view from the hotel roof top totally compensated for what was lacking in food choices! Unfortunately, we never made it to dinner because of all the other choices in the immediate area. My only complaint (not really a “complaint”) is the layout of the hotel rooms. Crazy, especially if you're not very mobile. To use the lift was painful, so the stairs it was. Additionally, if you didn't have breakfast at the hotel, you really didn't get a chance to connect with the front desk. With that said, I would still recommend staying at this hotel. We had a very pleasant stay.

"The economy room was very small."

It's a decent property, nice hotel. However, we did not get a good price for the economy room as we did not book early enough. The economy room is very small, hardly can walk around the bed without bumping into furniture. The bathroom was also tiny. The photography on the website makes this room look bigger than it is. My husband and I liked the location of the hotel as it was 2 min walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The morning buffet was overpriced and lacked a simple menu where one can order simple breakfast items.

"Spectacular views at the Scaletta"

My Husband chose this Hotel and we were not disappointed. Our room as requested overlooked the Pitti Palace and Bobilo Gardens. Comfortable and modern. We were very happy with the excellent service from all staff, from check in throughout our 4 night stay. We included the daily buffet breakfast which was very good with lots of choices and cappuccino to order. We had three windows all with views and to my husbands delight it included part of the Medici corridor that he had read about. we loved the roof top Bar and terrace and enjoyed dinner and drinks from the wonderful restaurant. the views of Florence are breathtaking particularly when watching the sunset and a Full Moon come up while have a fabulous meal. the location just cross the Ponte Vechio is perfect for visiting so many Florence famous sights. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. .

"Great location, customer service, and view!"

During our time in Florence (Firenze), Italy, we stayed at Hotel La Scaletta. This hotel is known for its dining and its view of the city, and the view did not disappoint. We ate elsewhere, as the menu did not look appealing to our midwestern U.S. American preferences. Hotel La Scaletta should also be known for its great location and great customer service. The host at the front desk directed us to some excellent restaurants that are favored by locals and even made reservations for us. They also pre-arranged for us admittance times to the Uffizi Museum and Accademia - which was a huge plus! The hotel is just across the river from the Uffizi and surrounded by stores, restaurants, and night life. We were also able to take advantage of the computer and Internet in the lobby to book our train tickets. The hotel appears to share a building with other businesses. When you arrive at the address, you'll walk down a hall and then turn to the left. There will be a few steps and then a typical Italian elevator (small). The elevator only allows room for two guests and no luggage or one guest and luggage. It also can be a bit slow. You'll take it up to the third floor (sixth floor from U.S. perspective). Once you make it to the lobby of the hotel you will be pleasantly surprised. My memory of the interior of our room is lacking. There was an easily accessible safe. The room was clean and cleaned daily - they even folded my pajamas. Laundry service is available at a high cost per item. (There is a launder near by that costs the same per kg, but staff may not speak English.) The bed was comfortable. And the window ledge in the bathroom served as counter space. The bathroom was typical Italian. (Typical Italian = Toilet + bidet. Hair dryer. Smaller toilet paper rolls. No facial tissues or wash cloths. European style bath towels. - They are full body, although a bit thinner than what you would find in the U.S. Not much counter space.) We felt very safe and secure in our room, although we spent most of our time exploring Florence. Our room was located below the kitchen, so there was some noise as they cleaned up each evening. We also suspect that the cigarette smell that filled our room came from the air vent that either connected to the kitchen or the streets. So if you stay here I suggest requesting not being below the kitchen. Upon arrival at the hotel we were given two tickets for complimentary drinks in the roof-top dining room. We saved these until the second day in Florence and enjoyed our beverages and the complimentary peanuts that evening. We didn't take advantage of their breakfast opportunity, but found the dining area for this also quite pleasing to the eye. Overall our experience at Hotel La Scaletta was positive and we would stay there again. Tip: They will send you directions to the hotel - be sure to read them prior to arrival! Especially if you are driving!

"Best views, amazing wine bar on the top floor "

Very friendly staff and amazing sky bar on the top floor, overlooking Firenze Duomo and Boboli gardens. Super breakfast and night restaurant open until midnight. Sky bar is top notch for wines & romantic evenings

"Nice hotel great location"

Nice hotel in great location on relatively quiet street in historic part of Florence over the bridge and away from main mobs of tourists. We could walk to train station. Be sure to catch the view from the terrace, especially the upper one. There were some internal steps to get to our room. It was not a problem for us but guests should alert the hotel in advance if steps would be difficult.

"An excellent recommendation"

A friend had recommended Last Scaletta to us for which we were very grateful. The hotel has much charm and excellent assistance is available from the staff who are charming. The hotel is well located near most local attractions and has a good rooftop bar to appreciate the city landscape at sunset. We hope to return in the future on a new trip to Italy.

I have never been made to feel less welcome. We arrived for our 8pm reservation in the upstairs terrace restaurant ( booked AND confirmed by emails through The Fork and Tripadvisor) to be told that our reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant. Apparently a phone call had been made just 2 hours earlier-I missed it! We were told to come back in 90 minutes time when a table may be available. Our request for a table elsewhere in the restaurant was initially rejected, but eventually led to our being showed to an unlaid table by the bar, despite many tables bring unoccupied. We counted the guests leaving the terrace- not all tables had been occupied Louis the Sommelier was helpful and knowledgeable. Food was hit and miss- risotto good: tuna was seared, but cold in the centre La Scaletta Management and Tripadvisor take note. I have never been made to feel less welcome by a restaurant manager. This is not the way to treat guests Neither I, nor my friends, shall ever return

"Good, not great."

I stayed at Hotel LaScarletta for 4 nights in September 2018. The only elevator was microscopic in size and very slow. The staff was ok. They did their jobs, nothing more, nothing less. The decor is semi modern. My room had hardwood floors and a good bed. The bathroom fixtures are brand new. There were not outlets near the only writing desk. Why don't the shower faucets ever tell the user which direction to turn the knob for hot water? I am so demanding. The breakfast was great. The location is outstanding. You are less than a 5 minute walk to Pont Vecchio. I would stay there again.

"Great location and amenities!"

Great location! A bit tricky to get there but hotel gave great directions and had someone come to park our car. Once you get to hotel, you need to take a lift up to the reception. It was our first hotel in Italy so we were not aware of how tucked away and unique the buildings would be. La Scaletta is in a beautiful old building with comfortable beds and a beautiful bathroom. All up to date amenities! A wonderful roof top restaurant for dinner and drinks!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. A few minute walk over the bridge and your right in the heart of the city. Restaurants and shopping all around. Just next to Boboli Gardens, a hidden surprise you need to add if you have the time. I would stay again if back in Florence!

"A+ "

La Scaletta means little steps and this property was full of charming little (and big) staircases. If you have to use an elevator all the time, this place is not for you. The location was fantastic and centrally located in Florence. Our room was on the smaller side but well appointed and designed so beautifully that it didn't matter. The bathrooms were clean with a great full size hair dryer. The service was fantastic. We had an issue with our air conditioning and someone was at our door to assess the problem within one minute of calling the front desk. The AC worked it just wouldn't get as cold as we would have liked, I don't think it was broken, I just think we have different expectations of how AC should work. The maintenance man brought us a floor fan to make up for it and we were completely satisfied with it. I have only one complaint about our stay and I'm not sure if it is the fault of the hotel. It seems as if the Heating and cooling duct work runs from room to room (probably why we couldn't control the temp in our room) and someone in a room nearby seemed to chain smoke in the mornings. I'm not sure if the hotel allows smoking in rooms or not, but it was pretty disgusting to me to have to sit in my own room and smell someone else's cigarettes. I didn't complain and it wasn't a deal breaker for me because I would stay there again in a heartbeat but it was noticeable and I thought it was unpleasant. The property didn't smell smoky so I think we may have just been stuck next to some chain smokers who might have been Breaking the rules. All-in-all we absolutely loved Hotel La Scaletta and it ranked as one of our favorites on our 10-day trip.

"Top Class in Florence"

Excellent location in the center of old Florence , not easy to come by car but they send a detailed information how to reach hotel . Large room with large bathroom , nicely equipped . Staff very helpful and friendly . Amaizing restaurat on the roof of the building , with spectacular view and nice bar with music. Restaurant menu short but with excellent choice of italian dishes. Professional waiters . Do you need more ?? . A place really worth to visit .

"Charming place in authantic quarter of Firenze"

The scaletta is a great place. Located in an old palazzo, the rooms have been refurbished with great taste and look new and well maintained. Rooms in the front part of the building are rather loud, the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms spacy. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I will recommend La Scaletta to every Florence visitor, and in fact already have done so. Looking forward to returning soon.

"Florence in 48 hours"

Arrived late evening in Florence 5 mins had us at the hotel 30mins later we were on the rooftop for dinner This was pre-booked In the morning walking into the center at 8am over the Puerto ampezzo For lunch we had pizza on the hotel side of the river-- cheaper After our tours we had a beer again on the hotel side of the river before returning to the hotel for another great meal Lot of attention given so we had a great meal and wines to match In the morning walked to the station

"Great hotel and restaurant!"

Great location and the hotel was very nice and clean! Staff was great! The restaurant on the top to the hotel was amazing! Ended up going there twice. We were told to get a reservation for top terrace! Highly recommend!

"Good restaurant !!!"

Cute restaurant inside the Westin Palace. friendly staff. It took several conversations and a possible peek into the kitchen to get our orders correct. The food and desserts were tasty. Overall a good restaurant!

"So so "

This hotel is located in a very convenient location , clean rooms, has a few downsides , 100 stairs up to the reception , they have an elevator but it's very small and slow . Our room was not what we expected , felt like it needed renovation . Breakfast was good ! And reception concierge is very helpful !

"Honeymoon experience"

Probably the finest dining experience we have ever had! This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and it is for sure one of Florence's little gems! We booked ahead for a table on the roof top dining area, very quiet and romantic with only a handful of tables and view over the city. The food menu and wine list were exactly what you would expect. Our waitress/ sommelier was as good as it gets, brilliant English, very knowledgeable about the wine list and how they all pair to your food choices. The meal was exceptional and the whole evening was perfect! I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, we will be city breaking in Florence again just to come here!

"Fantastic roof terrace, friendly team and comfortable rooms."

The hotel has a great location close to many of the main attractions of Florence. The view from the roof terrace is fantastic, making breakfast truly special. We didn't get the opportunity to take dinner at the hotel during our short stay, but I'm sure the evening view is equally stunning and romantic. The team are every friendly and ready to help. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a large bed, air con and everything you'd expect. Florence is a beautiful city, and La Scaletta is the perfect base from which to explore.

"Location, staff and the room are excellente !"

Located about 1min walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge you are about 10-15 min walk to Uffizi, Accademia Gallery and Duomo all all the great piazzas. Just outside the hotel you can choose from 10-20 places to eat...or get an espresso or gelato Front desk was very cheerful and helpful with directions. Sara gave me 3 options to get to hotel from the train station and on a hot and sunny August day we took the taxi. FYI. There are many-many pedestrian only zones where cars and taxis cannot enter so that's why Google travel times for walking are shorter than by Car. Room is very bright, modern and the bathroom shower is about perfect with the rain shower offering a spa like moment. And the air conditioning works very well. FYI. Front desk is on the 3rd floor and elevator (single one) can hold 2 /w luggage but this should not be an issue as you can walk or wait for it to be available. The roof top terrace is nice but we were out so much we couldn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked.

"Close to everything! Beautiful rooms!"

Large room with attached bath and spacious shower, large balcony with French doors and great view of the courtyard. Hotel was a little hard to navigate with many stairs, not good for those with mobility problems. Fantastic location near all the best sites.

"Amazing food"

My boyfriend booked this meal for when we were in Florence, our table was booked for 7:30pm, the views were amazing, you could see the whole of Florence from the roof top, we had the most amazing waitress, she was lovely but we didn't catch her name. We had the pigeon as a starter which was beautiful, I had the tuna and my boyfriend had the beef which both were amazing and with the side salad and roast potatoes and a few cocktails to finish. This place is well worth a visit, the setting is perfect.

"Amazing views, great location"

Loved our stay, staff was friendly and accommodating, food was very good, view from the roof top is incredible. Good location, walking to most tourists attractions and restaurants from hotel. Highly recommend it!

"Would stay again"

It felt like a good 4 star hotel rather than a 3. The location was ideal. The room was spacious, and the bed and pillows were perfect for my taste. The bathroom was huge and had the best shower I've ever had in a hotel room. I never eat breakfast but they serve food on the rooftop terrace which has great views (you need to make a reservation for dinner). Only drawback was that i would have liked an iron in the room or on request instead of charging 6 euros to have one shirt ironed by the staff. Be aware there are a lot of stairs to get to some rooms, but not all, so contact the hotel and make sure they can accommodate you appropriately if you have mobility issues.

"Gem in the city"

La Scaletta stand close to the very busy Ponto Vecchio bridge and is strategically located near pretty much all the monuments, gardens, sightseeing places,restaurants.. every thing you want to visit in Firenze. The room we have choosed facing the garden was meeting our expectations a lot : king size bed, huge bathroom, extra bath in the bedroom .. nice view on the gardens and Palazio Pitti. Though street are so croudy and busy, you can relax in your room that are quiet and comfy. The best asset of this hotel is the rooftop bar/restaurant where not only staff is skilled and friendly but also the view is dazzling! A scenic view on the magnificent Firenze city.

"Well positioned"

We liked the location right in the heart of Florence and very close to the Ponte Vecchio. Our room was clean, tidy and contemporary styled. Aircon was effective. The rooftop breakfast setting offered great views and aside from the annoying pigeons was a good experience. The staff were attentive and the service was good. The hotel reception is unusually on the top floor and access presents a challenge with luggage as the elevator is very small. The hotel is somewhat a labyrinth with small staircases and doors to navigate to get to your room.

La Scaletta restaurant offers the most incredible views of Florence! This small, quaint restaurant offers breathtaking views of Florence, not to mention great food and a fabulous wine list! The manager, Luis, was one of the most knowledgeable and impressive experts in food and wine. He was extremely friendly and charming and made our restaurant experience more perfect than we could imagine. We would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Florence and be sure to ask for Luis !!!!

"Great Location!"

We stayed in Florence for 2 nights. The hotel is charming and seems to have been recently renovated. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and clean. The rooftop view is spectacular - although they do need to figure out a solution for the pigeons who like to visit. The hotel has a lift/elevator which is a godsend when you have your luggage. But there are some stairs to the rooms - but they offer Bell Service to help with your suitcases if needed. The location is perfect! It is located just on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio and an easy 10 minute walk to everything! I would stay here again.

"Mini-moon break"

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel La Scaletta, Florence for two nights at the end of June. We booked for our mini-moon and tried to book the Junior suite for both nights but it was only available for one night, so we stayed in a classic double the second night. The hotel is in a great location, just the other side of the river to the main part of the city. It is a short walk to everywhere so if you've never been to Florence before don't worry about being right in the centre. We arrived by train from Pisa airport and it was just over a 20 minute walk to get to the hotel. On arrival we checked in and were shown to our room. I'd mentioned we'd just got married when booking and there was a small bottle of prosecco and strawberries waiting in our room for us. The room was huge, lovely and the bed very comfortable. The shower was also great and there were toiletries provided. Breakfast the following morning was varied and plentiful and we were able to sit on the wonderful rooftop while eating. The following day we were moved to our other room, which was almost as nice as the suite! It was again very big and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel has to be the rooftop terrace. There is a fabulous view from the top of the whole of Florence including the Duomo. Due to booking direct through the hotel, we got a free drink from the bar. You could have anything, so I enjoyed a glass of champagne whilst admiring the view. Wonderful, we'd definitely stay again.

"Great hotel with a restaurant with a panoramic view"

The hotel is in a wonderful location near Palazzo Pitti, 5-10 minutes walk from main sights. Restaurant with panoramic view is a great bonus which was the decisive factor when we chose where to stay. The only problem is pigeons, if you have breakfast on the veranda and not indoors. You need to come up with something to fight them. Should note the high-quality cleaning in the rooms and nice personnel.

"A gem of Florence - Restaurant La Scaletta"

An absolute must go place if you are in Florence. We booked one of 4 or 5 tables at the very top of the roof. Very private and personal approach. Scenery with a sunset over Florence was breathtaking! Food - delicious and service - outstanding! Thanks to our hosts! We loved it so much - so decided to come back for another dinner! *Honestly, this is not a paid sponsorship :)

"Awesome "

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Rooms are big, clean and modern. Good working AC. Customer service always pleasant. There is approximately 7 steps to the elevator. Location is perfect able to walk to Duomo, museum of academia, uffizi museum. It is on Ponte Veccho street where we observed the most beautiful sunset. Cab to the train station Firenze S.L.M is $10-12 euro or a 17 mins walk that is quite scenic to stop and shop or grab a gelato. Took a $8.60 euro train to Pisa approximately 70 mins ride each way from SLM Thanks for a wonderful accommodation

"Great Location and Hotel"

We are a family of 4 and stayed here for 4 nights in June. We loved this hotel due to the size of the room and location. We stayed in room 27 and there were 3 beds with 1 bed in a separate room. The bathroom was big and had 2 sinks which was a nice plus. The only thing is there could be street noise at night. The location was fantastic and you could walk everywhere! Next time we visit Florence we will stay here again!

"Spacious, comfortable rooms in a great location"

The room size was very spacious - nice high ceilings and tall windows giving lots of light. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom a good size - beautiful stone shower and floors. Many choices for the breakfast and the rooftop terrace views are phenomenal - truly a panoramic view of Florence. There are many stairs at this property and the lift is very small; if you have sizable luggage, only one person at a time can ride the lift. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Florence - it's well-located yet the neighborhood doesn't feel crowded.

"Stayed for 2 nights"

The evening restaurant staff were some of the best we have ever met. The gentleman with the moustache (I can't remember his name now) made our trip to the hotel very special and took the time to go around each table to have a conversation with the patrons. He should be held in great commendation by the hotel. The hotel is very close to the gardens and the city centre albeit at the top of 97 steps, which was fun the first time before we discovered the lift. The only issue we had was the door to the ensuite. I felt it was hinged on the wrong side meaning you had to enter the ensuite close the door to get around to the toilet or get to the shower as its door also opened into the room. You couldn't access the shower if the ensuite door was open as there was no room. Other than that we would return again.

"Amazing Rooms, Service and Location."

La Scaletta is a great hotel. Since the moment we arrived we felt a warm and professional welcome from each staff. They assisted us through every step and made sure we were pleased. The location is superb, walking distance to everything. The rooms are amazing. Very spacious, beautifully decorated and modern. We felt pampered during all our stay. We will definitely stay at Hotel la Scaletta next time we are in Florence.

"Great location"

This hotel is in a perfect spot. We walked quite easily from the main train station with our suitcases. The hotel is within walking distance of everything. Be sure to check out the bar and restaurant upstairs. Beautiful. Staff were helpful and friendly.

"Great hotel, panoramic views of Florence from rooftop terrace"

Loved this hotel! Amazing rooftop terrace with panoramic views of Florence - just beautiful! Clean rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast. Really well located. A short stroll from Ponte Vecchio, transport and restaurants.

"Wonderful location and great terrace"

Really nice and comfortable hotel in th heart of Florence! Literally in front of “ponte vecchio” at walking distance from all the main places to see in Florence. Big and clean rooms, nice and friendly staff. Amazing terrace for aperitivo or dinner with stunning view.

"Great place and location"

Rooms and staff are amazing. Clean and comfy. The restaurant alone should be a reason to stay here. Make reservations for the 360° view, our waitress was amazing, Linda, she was very funny and nice and helpful with selections. Pay for the breakfast as you get to sit on the roof top terrace with nice views, just be aware of the pigeons that attack your food when you leave your plate unattended. 100% recommend

"honeymoon in Florence :)"

the hotel was really comfortable for us. it exceeds our expectations. it is very close to every where. Breakfast was really good, there were many kinds to have your breakfast. The staff were really helpful and kind.

"Very good hotel, excellent position!"

Tuscany is always a good place to be! This time we decided to stay in Florence for one night and we found this lovely hotel. The position is excellent and the hotel itself very nice. Clean room, friendly staff and a breakfast soooooo good!

"Stay here!"

We stayed at this hotel in Florence for four nights and it was fantastic. It's super close to all the sights but is an oasis of calm once you enter its doors. Make sure you have a drink at the rooftop bar it's so relaxing and charming. The staff are all very friendly and you would be a fool not to stay here. Thanks for such an amazing stay! I always forget to post trip advisor reviews but I'm doing this from an airport as it was such a brill hotel!

"Gem in the heart of Florence"

The hotel far exceeded our expectations. We stayed for 4 days and we would definitely stay there again. Great location. I was expecting a dark and small room but its bright airy, modern and spacious. The front desk people are all extremely helpful, they go out of their way to help out. We asked for recommendations for restaurants, tours and if you need a packed breakfast for an early morning tour they make sure its ready, and plentiful.

"Italian tour"

La Scaletta is a wonderful hotel. Close to everything. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The staff will help with your, dinner reservations, tours, direction and any hotel issues, they are always friendly. The view from the roof bar is amazing and don't miss going up the stairs from the bar to the highest level, it is a million dollar view. The hotel is between Pitti Palace and the Ponte Veccio. The Duomo, Santa Croce, San Lorenzo, Leather market, etc are all within walking distance.

"Good hotel good location"

Stayed for 2 nights in Florence, beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant. Hotel is in a great location on the main road blocks from Ponte Vecchio. Not a knock your socks off 5 star hotel but friendly staff and comfortable rooms, would definitely recommend staying there for location and price as we went in high season and this was one of few places that was under $250 euro a night. 360 degree views of the city from rooftop for dinner and great view of boboli gardens from rooftop bar.

"Excellent service and great hotel overall!"

I stayed for 2 days. The hotel was nice and the location was great. The people working there are really helpful and friendly. The service I received was fantastic. I will recommend this hotel to everyone and if I go back to Florence this is the place that I will stay again!

"Hotel in Florence"

Great location...about a block to the Ponte Vecchio. Easy walk to the outdoor market, Duomo, Uffizi and Pitti Palace. Not all rooms are elevator accessible... ask if you need one (I had a sprained ankle and got one on request). Immaculate, comfortable rooms with beautifully renovated bathrooms. Lovely rooftop restaurant. Caveat: check the menu. Geared to sophisticated diners. Not your typical Italian fare we are used to in the U.S. closest thing is a pasta with a pork ragout (delicious). Chocolate cake....great! Gracious staff. Highly recommend!

"Beautiful Hotel in the the heart of Florence"

Everything was amazing! The food and service at the restaurant was the highlight of our visit. The hotel is located just a short walk from the river and the center of all museums and attractions. Very convenient!

Excellent location and service. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for great value and easy access to all the main attraction with its convienient location. The room itself was well keptvery clean and quite.

"A lovely hotel in a great location!"

This is a great hotel in an excellent location; it's only a 2 minute walk to Ponte Veccio but just far enough away that it wasn't swamped with tourists. We stayed for 4 nights and everything we wanted to see was within walking distance, and we saw all the major sites and museums. There were plenty of good restaurants nearby as well as shops and supermarkets. The view from the rooftop terrace bar/restaurant is amazing, you can see across the Arno to the Duomo and next door is the lovely Boboli Gardens behind Pitti Palace, it was the perfect place to sit down after a day of sightseeing and enjoy a drink or two! We had a traditional room (35) near the reception area; it was really clean and had all the facilities we needed (safe, plenty of plug sockets, fridge, kettle, clean bathroom, etc.) but the view was just a wall outside, but that didn't really matter to us as we were out most times. Breakfast was great with lots of choices and the staff we encountered throughout our stay were lovely. We booked directly through the hotel's website as it was cheaper than everywhere else, and although it's a bit pricey it's worth it. If we visit Florence again we would definitely stay here again!

"A beautiful, magical bit of Florence!!"

My best friend, an interior designer, says that you can't buy charm. BUT, we just did in room 53 at La Scaletta! My husband and I have traveled quite a bit and this room was my favorite ever. Beautiful trompe l'oeil! A slipper tub located where you can look out through French doors to the courtyard. And, it has a full shower, also. Plus a bidet and private toilet area. We stayed one night then returned for two more nights. We didn't get room 53 again, but the room we got was very comfortable and quite and nice. Breakfast was fantastic. Oh, and the rooftop terrace view is stupendous. We had dinner and drinks there and it was magical. I would encourage anyone to book there while in Florence! And, be sure to ask about room 53!

"Quaint hotel with lovely rooms and a great location!"

Great location with under 2-3 minute walk to ponte vecchio shops and bridge. We even walked to the station (with no luggage). The rooms were clean and quite spacious. We also got a room with good views. The hotel staff is very helpful and has good room service. The best part of the hotel however is the bar and the terrace above it. The view from the terrace is just amazing. You can see the all of florence from that height. Perfect to have a drink with a view. The only drawback to this hotel is the stairs, hence the name La scaletta. The stairs are not just to the reception area but also to go to the individual rooms. The hotel staff is really good and will help you with luggage though. So if you don't mind walking up and down the stairs, the hotel is highly recommended.

"ideal location"

close to the ponte vecchio, big nice renewed rooms, beautifull terrasse, very good service. On parking is available , but needs to be organised before , otherwise you wait 20minutes the driver that comes and goes away with your car.

"Ideal room in an ideal location"

Spacious, clean bedroom and bathroom, extra large bed, excellent shower. So close to the fabulous sights and smells of Florence, making life very convenient. Staff were patient and helpful and pleasant. Highly recommended.

"Lovely individual rooms"

Just over the Ponte Vecchio bridge from the old centre and a five minute walk from Palazzo Pitti this hotel has lovely rooms and is very handy for all the sites The roof top bar has great views over the city

"Perfect location"

Great location, only metres to the Ponte Vecchio, and very friendly and helpful staff. A very good breakfast and the roof top terrace views are stunning. We were there for our 25th wedding and our family had organised flowers for our room with the hotel's help. The hotel then upgraded our room and made us a cake. It was a wonderful surprise and I can't thank them enough.

"A quiet spot in Florence"

Comfortable clean room overlooking the Boboli gardens. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English! Welcome drink on arrival on their wonderful roof terrace with views of Florence.Would stay here again.

"Nice and quiet place in Florence!"

We were greeted with huge smiles by their three staff members when we arrived. Our room was clean, spacious, and the window opened up to a view of the Boboli gardens. We didn't try their food, but it seemed very busy the next day. In fact, it was very busy and loud but could only hear everyone after going up the stairs and opening the doors to the hallway. So we appreciated the quietness that we were given in our room. They have a small beautiful terrace with a panoramic view of Florence, it is recommended to go up and see the sunset. We didn't get the see the sunset due to our timing but we did go up and realized you can see the Boboli gardens close! The location is great as well, and we walked to the train station about 30 minutes away.

"Great service!"

Rooms are quiet, spacious and very clean! The Hotel is located in the best part of Florence! Reception gave a really warm welcome upon our arrival. The room we had was without balcony or view which was the only pitty.

"Great hotel!"

Great service and great value hotel. We walked everywhere from the hotel. The room was huge and spotless, with the only real large sized mattress we encountered in Italy (all others were simply two twins pushed together). We were thrilled with our visit.

"Good location and rooms"

I booked a short stay of a few days at La Scaletta, as part of our honeymoon exploring Florence. The hotel staff were friendly and very kind in providing small extra details, the room was spacious and had a good feel, and we particularly enjoyed the rooftop balcony which gave panoramic views of the palace, city gardens and historic churches around the city. Recommended.

"Great Small Hotel in Florence."

My wife and I were looking for a hotel in Florence for a weekend trip while we were visiting our son in France. I found Hotel La Scaletta through trip advisor and the price, location and description of the hotel was right. I contacted the hotel to book our room and during the process asked for help with museum tickets. The next day I received an email from the hotel providing me with reservation numbers for the museums we requested. When we arrived at the Hotel it was before the scheduled check in time. We left our bags with the bellman and when we returned they were already in our room along with complimentary prosecco. The bed was very comfortable and the room was large and well equipped. The bathroom was a little small but clean and new. In fact the entire room was very clean and fresh. The Hotel is in an excellent area that is within walking distance to numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and attractions. It should be noted that check in is on the third floor and the only elevator hold two people with very little room for luggage. The elevator was fast and my wife and I were able to get to the reception area in two trips very quickly. The alternative is to use the stairs which I believe means walking up 97 stairs. It is also possible to signal the bellman from the entry level who will take care of your bags as you travel up in the elevator. It is a small inconvenience when considering the charm of a staying at this hotel.

"Bad experience"

I had a bad experience with them even before I get there... I have booked a room non refundable and just 2 hours after this got a call from a friend from my work place asking me to help in changing the period for a few days off because of health problems with his father. I immediately applied for a special request of cancelation and they reply that they cannot do anything about it and I will be charged the full ammount . I guess money is more important than people .. Anyway I rather loose the money and help a friend in need but i advise you before making a reservation with them and better choose refundable or another hotel . I know very nice people and good places in Florence so you have very good alternatives . You better think twice before you allow some obscure hotel to have your card info , they already charge my account 2 days after the reservation almost 50 days prior to the reservation period . I was asking for a cancelation in the same day , for a reservation more than 1 month later. I guess a nice hotel with good management would not have a problem to book a weekend in Firenze in a one month interval. What really annoyed me was their attitude. I did tell them I will tell this story and a fair review if i would get there and they ask why I thereaten ... ??? Is a fair review and telling the truth a treathen ?

"Wonderful Stay"

Perfect location. Quiet, but a short walk to main city center and attractions. The rooms were clean, and the service was exceptional! The electricity went out one night, and they switched our rooms but they were very helpful.

My third stay with La Scaletta didn't disappoint. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and always great! The location is perfect if you want to be close to all the sights and for this particular trip and the work I was doing — by coincidence! The rooms have always been a great size, very clean, and always quiet. Breakfast is a wonderful spread and a great start to the day. I didn't get to eat in the panoramic restaurant this time as it's winter and I didn't try (I believe it's covered), but in the summer, sunset aperitivo and cena can't be missed here. I almost hate giving the secret of this place away, but a friend introduced me 10 years ago and I've never regretted booking or sending friends!
