This was a great stop on the GR65. The hotel itself was comfortable and the pilgrims' meal was very good. This high benchmark was set from the moment I arrived and Pauline at Reception was extremely helpful and informative. Her primary task must be to settle guests in and, on this point, she could not have been faulted. Couldn't have asked for a better introduction to a very nice city in Figeac.
Terrific in every way, from the English-speaking front desk staff to the picturesque river-front restaurant, the facility and service at the Le Pont D'Or made the perfect staring point for our two week adventure in France. Clean, air conditioned rooms, a small, but very private swimming pool, made our stay as exceptional as possible. The front desk staff could not do enough to make sure we were comfortable, working tirelessly on our behalf.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.exceeded our expectations. welcoming and extremely helpful staff. Always asking if we needed anything. The view from our room and restaurant are beautiful as the hotel is by the river and across from the old town center. Will definitely stay there again if in the area. Thank you to all who made our stay such a pleasure
We stayed in a room with a small balcony over the river. Good parking, nice bar and restaurant. We had dinner in the bar, good food and good service. Well placed to walk in the town. Good sized room with lift.
We stayed here for three nights, the staff were helpful. The hotel was very clean (no worries for us regarding COVID) the restaurant was superb. I would highly recommend this hotel. The town of Figeac is very interesting and the hotel is ideal for touring "The Lot"
Just a one night stop but excellent. Hotel has a small free car park and is located next to the river - in fact our room had a small balcony with river view. It was easy to explore the old town of Figeac as it was just over the bridge from the hotel. Reception gave us a map/guide in English explaining a good tourist route following the numbered "cles" shown on the plaques fixed to buildings. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both were good. WiFi was good and the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.
My wife and I stayed here 2 nights last month while in the town for a wedding. We enjoyed our stay here (we are big fans of Best Western hotels in Europe), and the location is quite central...so central that they even offer ear plugs due to the "social chatter" that emanates from the streets along the riverfront. Our room was cozy, the small pool and fitness room on the roof was super cute, and their small cafe and bar has tables outside so you can sit along the waterfront. The continental breakfast is very good, and there is free off-site parking within 1-2 blocks walk.
We spent one night as a large family in this hotel, with one dog and two small children. The location is super central and close to the river. The hidden gem of this hotel is the amazing rooftop pool which our kids thoroughly enjoyed. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, one of the best I've seen. The place to stay in my view if you come to visit Figeac.
Lovely town of Figeac. Very good hotel. Friendly staff, good wifi. We had half board, so dinner and breakfast included which was very good quality. Included one bottle (50cl) of wine. Very modern rooms, and comfortable. Highly recommend
A very convenient hotel for visiting Figeac (follow the 'cles' guide from Tourist Information). All clean and comfortable with a nice river view and surprisingly quiet despite passing traffic across the river although limited number of (free) parking spaces but we did not need to move once parked. A nice breakfast although there was a mix-up because we thought we had paid for it in advance so it is a little expensive at 14euros. We were directed (twice) to a park for dog-walking which was wholly unsuitable as the lake was polluted and dogs had to be kept on leads. In fact, turn right out of the reception and there is a good run/walk to be had along the riverside.
This is a very comfortable modern hotel. Had a large room with a balcony and a view of the river. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with excellent English spoken. It is across the street from the e trance to the medieval part of the city. It is on a busy corner with lots of traffic, but the windows are double pained so very quiet in the room. Ate dinner on the outside patio overlooking the river. A very nice menu and good food. The wait staff is very disorganized and seemed to be unsupervised. We sat for at least 25.minutes with no attention while the servers ran around and refused to look at us. We complained to the desk manager the next morning and she was very apologetic and we be.ice she has dealt with the problem. That said, we would definitely stay here again. and a view of the river.
Very comfortable, clean, with friendly staff and a lovely pool area. We also ate in the restaurant by the river on a very hot evening and found the service great and the food lovely and reasonably priced which surprised us as we expected it to be more expensive as hotel food can often be.
We had an enjoyable dinner here one very hot evening whilst staying nearby, sitting on a long, very narrow terrace and watching some good sized trout drifting past in the shallows of the river below. Our waitress was smiley and obliging and service was efficient and well-paced. The food was delicious and there was a good selection of local wines at reasonable prices. The place was virtually empty when we arrived at our pre-booked time of 7.15 pm, but filled up in a rush from 8. With the thermometer at 32C, outside dining was a must, but the problem with pavement restaurants is just that - pavements are beside roads and roads are full of noisy, polluting traffic. The big selling point for us with this restaurant is that our table was separated from the city centre by the comfortable width and serenity of the river Cele. We would certainly have returned if staying longer in Figeac
I stayed at the Figeac Best Western in May for a business trip. As this is one of the only hotels in this sleepy little town (certainly the only name-brand hotel) it's a little difficult to know what to expect. I guess I would expect more of a Best Western in a larger city. The front desk personnel were courteous and polite but distracted by multi-tasking in the restaurant and elsewhere. There are not a lot of amenities other than the restaurant. You don't necessarily need a car to get around Figeac, although I can't imagine you wouldn't have one. There is free parking just down the street from the hotel. The restaurant is convenient in that it is open daily, whereas many restaurants in the city are closed on Sundays and Mondays. The breakfast had a decent selection of continental offerings. For dinner, there is a full bar and full menu, although they don't serve until after 7 pm … usually closer to 7:30. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside next to the river. It looked like the only restaurant that offered that kind of setting. The fish and the duck dishes were decent. On nights when other restaurants are open, you can easily walk to just about any of them. My room was very basic. It was spacious enough, but there wasn't much appealing about spending any time in there. The bed was composed of two twin-sized beds pushed together. The desk was small but workable and the wireless access was fairly dependable. The bathroom was fairly large (actually, I had a handicap-accessible room) but lacked amenities. There was one soap dispenser at the sink and one at the shower. While it wasn't luxurious, it was kept clean. Sleep quality was ok. My room was near two intersecting streets and I could hear cars and trucks constantly. I imagine this hotel is probably the best in town, but there isn't much competition. I'd stay again if I'm every in Figeac because it is convenient and, well, there isn't much choice.
We booked this hotel through Brittany Ferries and knew nothing about it until we arrived. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist with a great smile. She also greeted us by name before I said anything. A simple act but made us feel right at home. The room was clean, well light with a very comfortable bed. Bathroom was also bright and well appointed. Breakfast was varied with a concentration on local produce. The only downside for me was the A/C wasn't turned on. They advertised A/C in brochure so it was a large problem for me as the temp on the first night was 30deg. However they provided a fan which did help a lot. Having said that, the hotel surpassed all my other expectations and I would definitely stay when I'm next in the area. I have no problem recommending this hotel.
Just walk across the bridge and you are in the old town of Figeac, this is well worth a visit. The hotel is clean and presentable, adequate sized rooms, good bathrooms, tea and coffee making in the rooms, large comfortable beds - staff and service all excellent - recommended.
It had been nearly 10 years since my business travels took me to Figeac, and it was nice to see the rooms had been redone at the Best Western. Even better, the restaurant has been improved, and the bar is well stocked with good Cahors wines. It was a pleasure to be back, and the staff was very friendly.
Very helpful staff! Comfortable room and bed. Clean enough but not spotless. Adequate buffet breakfast. Good value for money, especially as upgraded to river view room "due to availability" even though not many guests.
A lovely hotel. We were given a warm welcome by the lady on the desk and shown to our room which was gorgeous and spacious. Not sure how we came to have a suite, but we are not complaining. The room was clean and modern. We stayed for two nights and ate at the terrace restaurant both nights. It was clearly the nicest restaurant in town and set right on the river, Food and wine were both lovely and good value. ( good for vegetarians too) Figerac us an interesting little town. We visited the Saturday market and did the walking tour. All good. Parking near the hotel is easy even if you can't get into their car park. A lovely hotel!
Our room was very clean and the decor up to scratch. Lovely to have kettle and tea/coffee. The staff in Reception were very good, professional and helpful. We liked this hotel very much. We had dinner beside the river which was a great location, but the food was ordinary and not well presented. The young waiting staff were a bit busy, bit slow, but doing their best. The breakfast was great - really good selection of plentiful fresh foods. We would definitely stay here again. We loved Figeac. The hotel is well placed on the river in the centre of town with parking very nearby at the back entrance. It's a few mins stroll into the old historic district.
This hotel tries to make the most of everything. Great location, on the river, and if you've just biked several hours in the hot Dordogne sun, it has fantastic aircon and bar service Only slight negative is the small room size, but it's the only minus. Breakfast and wifi are the best, and as mentioned, staff go out of their way to be helpful.
the public areas are very nice and promising, nice restaurant with lovely terrace looking the cele river. the lobby is nice and staff friendly, but the room was disappointing, other friends of our group said they had very small room, we have extra space and extra very old and dirty sofa, the location of the hotel is excellent and wi-fi works o.k.
A good standard hotel in the centre of town right by the river. The room was comfortable and of the standard expected of a Best Western hotel. We ate our evening meal and breakfast on the riverside terrace - a beautiful location. The food was excellent and there was a good choice at the self service breakfast bar. There was an indoor pool but unfortunately we were too tired from our full day hike to contemplate a swim!
The staff at this hotel were very pleasant and friendly but the room was disappointing. The skirting boards were REALLY dirty and couldn't have been cleaned for months. The bedside tables were also quite dusty. The pillows had a pretty stale and well used smell as well. Not very nice overall.
This is a very satisfactory hotel just outside the centre of medieval Figeac. The room was comfortable and clean - but I found it dark - orange walls and dark wood. The staff were most helpful and pleasant. The dining room was closed on the Sunday evening we arrived and we were recommended a local restaurant that we returned to the following night. Breakfast was fine - but we never succeeded in getting our eggs to boiled to even half cooked. there is a pool, sauna and fitness room which we did not try out.
Disappointed to find restaurant closed. Wifi OK, has carpark. Room and bathroom both OK but nothing special. Corridors a bit grubby and used-looking. A lack of freshness not overcome by use of scented cleaners in the room. More than we really wanted to pay out of season.
I booked this hotel last minute whilst traveling around France, we were happy with the location, I got a river view, very impressed, room was very large, parking was a 20 meters away, great for cars, alright for my motorcycle, but not perfect, would highly recommend this hotel tho, and a fantastic town to visit
We stayed four nights in this comfortable and simple hotel in lovely position overlooking the River Lot, only yards from the old city centre. Our room was a bit small and it was well worth having the balcony overlooking the river. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
I spent one night here as part of a cycling tour around France and was not disappointed by the hotel after a day in the saddle! The location of hotel is fabulous, overlooking the river - especially, if like me, you are lucky enough to have a room with a balcony directly above the river. The room had great facilities including a kettle which is a huge bonus when in France!! There was good quality wifi and an excellent hair dryer too. The hotel is close to the centre of the town which is wonderful with old buildings and great restaurants. I would highly recommend.
Spent one night here with group of motorcyclists doing a tour of France. Good location, overlooking river. My room was quite adequate, also overlooking the river. Quite a lot of traffic noise from busy intersection, but only during day. Close to town centre. Nice bar for drink in evening. Breakfast was adequate but no bacon and no ham. Yes, ok, it is a momentary snapshot. 5 minutes before/after... probably both. But it is the first time, on this trip, that it has happened and therefore notable.
I read some of the past reviews. Some slightly negative. We found nothing to fault this hotel. Nice modern room with full bath. Not noisey at night. Comfortable bed. Excellent meal last night in the restaurant. Service was fsntastic too. The staff have very good English-speaking skills. Great location opposite the medieval streets. English channels on the TV. Strong wifi.
I was booked into this hotel as a business layover, visiting a local company. The hotel desk staff were reasonably welcoming and assisted a colleague of mine whose hotel reservation, for whatever reason, was missing. There was a small amount of decorating going on in the lobby, which was not a problem. Bar staff were not so welcoming. I ate here twice - the food was reasonable and medium priced. Unfortunately got a room at the end of the hotel, very subject to traffic and road noise throughout the night. No/limited parking, poor breakfast.
One of the most charming towns in the world, and a very nice little cosy hotel. Feels like a fairy tale, the windows overlook the river. A most beautiful view from the hotel window - you see the river right beneath. The staff are very nice and welcoming
A perfect summer evening, outside on the terrace, overlooking the river. The young staff were attentive and very helpful. The Menu was excellent and our choices were outstanding. Why do provincial restaurants in France have the most wonderful food and this location was no exception.
We had all sorts of problems booking a room in this hotel due to a French website and the reception staff were amazingly good at sorting it out for us. They speak very good English, so much better than our French! Our room was a little disappointing on first inspection, it could do with redecorating perhaps and was quite small, but it was very comfortable with a great bed, had all the necessary amenities and was clean. The bathroom and separate toilet were small and clean and well laid out. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, there was something for everyone at the buffet. It was a very comfortable stay with excellent staff, everyone was very friendly and professional.
Figeac has got to be by far one of the most beautiful towns I've been to in France. Luckily for us, Le Pont d'Or hotel is simply a bridge away from the cobbled streets and stunning architecture. We stayed here for one night - the room was nothing special but had everything you need. We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the river and it was nice to be able to sit outside watching the river and world pass by. An added bonus was the rooftop pool which was very refreshing after a 4-hour trip in the French heat. We didn't get to use the restaurant as we headed into the town for our meals so we will certainly give that a try on our next visit, which hopefully won't be too far away.
The hotel is easy to find on the banks of the river rigjht in the mioddle of the old town. Yes the hotel car park is often full but there is plenty of free parking further down the road so no problem. the rooms aren't huge and traditional but spotlessly clean. We stayed for 6 nights - the first night was at the back of the hotel but we upgraded to the front with a balcony for an extra 20 euros a night which was well worth it - and the wonderful friendly staff actually moved our luggage for us. The new room 222 was right underneath the swimming pool pump which went continuously from 8.00 am until 9.00 pm but only a problem if you wanted an afternoon doze and actually no louder than the (very effective) air con. Not all of the riverfront rooms have a balcony and our balcony was not covered in which was a shame as we had considerable rain (mid August). Although facing the old town we found the hotel very quiet A fridge would have been nice but shops are close by. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and only ate there one lunchtime but the 3 course meal was pretty good and excellent value. A lovely stay, lots to do and see close by and the annual music festival in August is worth catching. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.
I took a room for a whole week with balcony over the river... superb. Good breakfasts, attentive personnel and a spacious room. It is a value for money 3* hotel in a very good location. The use of sauna is not included in the rate and the pool was not operative instead the weather invited to use it.
Hi Folks, If you find the review of help, please click the helpful green tab at the end. THANKS. My Wife and I stayed here on Saturday 13th June, for one night only. The fee was 90 euros, without breakfast. We enjoyed a lovely drive down from Saumur, mainly on D roads. We found the hotel with ease and parked for free, in the hotels car park, some 20 meters down the road, opposite reception, on the other side of the road. All staff that we encountered, spoke really good English and on arriving, were allocated room 113. Everything was clean and tidy, everything worked just fine. There were tea/coffee making facilities and most important of all, the a/c was brilliant. Unfortunately, we did not have a river view, but for 90 euros, we felt it was a good deal. The hotel also has a lovely snug bar, which we both thought looked very English looking. The restaurant terrace looked a very special place to be dining, but unfortunately it was raining, so we took the short walk over the bridge, into the very quaint town. It was our first visit here and we both loved it. Some lovely bars / restaurant to be enjoyed, along with the odd square or plaza, with limited shopping. A very nice, relaxed atmosphere. Would return to both hotel and town without hesitation. Many Thanks Gary.
Hotel is right accross a short bridge from old Figeac. Everything was as you would want in a 3 * hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the small parking area but it was free as opposed to most other hotels. The attraction is the chance to have dinner and then walk through a medieval town in the evening, feel what it might have been like centuries ago, yet return back to the hotel without having to move your car.
The location is excellent, right on the bridge and easy walking distance of the centre of Figeac. The hotel is very nice, but could be so much better. It is in serious need of refurbishment. The rooms look old and tired and even in the lobby, there is paint bubbling and cracking. The terrace overlooking the river is lovely and the restaurant is pretty good, although the service was a bit slow - we were quite a large group, so I think they wanted to serve the individual customers first - frustrating, but understandable. I have given it 3 stars but it is probably worth 3.5.
I was a business trip and I chose this hotel from the old village. Hotel was cozy and unfortunately I could not have a dinner because i arrived late. Restaurant is along the river and looks like from the old movies. Service was excellent and staff very helpful--- Who says the French people are rude?
