nice modern room, quiet, in new part of hotel - very reasonable price for what one gets. very comfortable bed - my partner who has back problems said she got a great nite's sleep. staff very helpful and friendly. nice restaurant. (homemade soups, rest of menu not very imaginative but sound, i had the Highland Chicken - chicken breast stuffed with haggis in a creamy peppercorn sauce) breakfast good. (lots of choice, hot/cold) (lots of places a relatively short drive away - i visited Edinburgh & Stirling, but Perth, Glasgow (quite near) & Dundee all within striking distance). Falkirk a nice town, the Kilpies are magnificent, the Falkirk wheel impressive.
Stopped over 2 nights to visit family, the location is ideal if you want to walk into the town centre. Had a meal in the restaurant on one night and we ate of the main menu, not the 3 for £12 and it was reasonably priced for what you got, and it was very enjoyable, bar area as such is just sitting in the main foyer... The only down side was the size of the rooms, small, but as it was just a base for 2 nights and we wouldn't be spending all day in it we put up with it, and as previously stated in reviews noisy, hardly slept with the noise.
We were here for just 2 nights hotel was clean, modern, nice bar and evening entertainment. The staff friendly and helpful food was good, the only problem we had was the breakfast , buffet style but the room was far too small and cramped, The enjoying thing was there was nowhere to put the lids down when you were trying to help yourself to the food, foldback lids would have been the answer to the problem. We were a coach party so don't know if they just gave us this area for us only?
Myself and husband went to falkirk to scatter my father in laws ashes, we stayed at the park hotel, its a lovely little hotel, but on the big downside we could hear the people in the next room even talking, not very soundproof at all. And people just walk along the corridor. The breakfast was ok but not very hot. We had an evening meal on the Saturday and that was lovely.
Myself, my husband and our four year old daughter visited The Park Hotel on Saturday evening for a meal at short notice after visiting family in Falkirk area. We were seated in a lovely, well decorated and welcoming restaurant. We opted for the 3 courses for £12 menu and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely will be returning. During our visit I went to the loos with my daughter, located just round from the restaurant next to the bar area. As we approached the toilets there seemed to be an incident unfolding. Initially I thought someone had taken unwell but it transpired the incident was involving patrons fron the bar area. There was a manager looking lady there and a male colleague dealing with this incident and the disorderly patrons. A woman client was becoming very aggressive and abusive towards both colleagues but more aimed at the manager woman. The people concerned were then taken away to the side in a seperate room I'm sure and we continued to the toilet eventually. We continued with our meals and the manager lady from previously approached the table to see if myself and my daughter were ok and to apologise for the incident. She could not have been nicer and more professional when dealing with this incident. It was a real surprise to see this utmost impeccable customer service from this lady that I later asked for her name. Amanda, who works in the restaurant is absolute asset to your company and could not have been more helpful and polite. My family will definitely be making a point to return to the restaurant and I just wanted to mention this exeptional young lady. Thank you C.A
First night of a week and I could not sleep a wink. The noise from outside and from the corridor is horrific. When people walk down the corridor, their footsteps sound loud and vibrate into the room. Slamming doors SMOKERS standing outside shouting and don't get me started on the evening meal in the restaurant. ??????. New rooms are lovely and big if not a bit plastic. Guess you get what you pay for. Good looking make over but should be sound insulated. If guests pay for a place to sleep then that's what your focus should be on. Making sure your guests have a peaceful nights REST.
Stayed here for two nights this week for work. It's easy to find and there's a decent amount of parking available. Yes, this hotel does require a bit of modernising and the room was quite small but everything was pretty good. Food was decent and excellent value. If you're catching a train, it's uphill to Falkirk High but more trains coming through (I walked there) Probably would stay there again if working nearby
Booked through work so unsure of room cost, but ate in their restaurant both nights - average fare but good value, especially table d'hote. Small (double room) was a tad cramped and the decor generally seemed quite "tired" but the place was surprisingly busy with conference(s) and coach tour(s) guests.
Usual Best Western standard. Ideal location for visiting the Falkirk wheel and the Helix centre home of The Kelpies. Limited dining menu but service was good. Reception was speedy and efficient. Staff very knowledgeable about local area.
We stayed at the Best Western in Falkirk in order to visit the Edinburgh tattoo, which turned out to be a mistake! It took us a longer time than expected to get to Edinburgh as the traffic was very busy and it was further than we expected. It also meant that we were arriving back at the hotel after the Tattoo after midnight. The room was fine and the evening meal was ok but a bit restrictive in choice, my wife was not able to eat any of the options on the set menu but the staff were willing to make her something quite different which was very acceptable. We got a good nights sleep. We were on a top floor and the lift was very slow and busy so we found it quicker to use the stairs but a bit difficult climbing all those stairs carrying your luggage. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, usual choice of cooked breakfasts, toast and cereals but the management were not very good at replacing trays that were empty which meant that if you were late in for breakfast you had quite a limited choice from what was left over. Overall good value for money but a little bit too far out of Edinburgh if that is your main attraction. If going to the Tattoo choose a hotel closer to Edinburgh.
Stayed here for one night whilst visiting friends. I had a room in a new wing that was brand new! The room was very nice and the shower room was nicely laid out. The bed was very clean and comfortable. The staff at the bar were helpful and efficient. Overall a very pleasant stay.
Pleasant stay.comfortable room. Pleasant staff. Just a note that smokers stood directly outside the front door smoking which was very unpleasant and shoukd be discouraged. Dining facilities nice. Good food
Hotel was clean, didn't get to spend much time in room as didn't get there till late then had to go to tattoo, got back at 2am, smoke alarm woke us at not long after, full evacuation in the rain where the poor lad Peter who did a very good job considering he was on his own no other members of staff there. Hotel need to put signs on doors regarding closing them when you have a shower as that's what set fire alarm off. Other than that hotel is ok
Lovely hotel. We stayed for one night whilst visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo as part of a package tour with National Holidays. Staff very friendly and helpful. Immaculate public areas and rooms. Beds very comfy - we both have bad backs and these beds were very good for us. Good view onto the park. It was a taxi ride away from the Kelpies which I visited as soon as we got there and got back in time for dinner. Dinner very well organised and lovely. Flat screen TV worked well and bathroom very good. Bar has good selection and good prices. All in all we would definitely stay there again.
stayed overnight as part of a tour with national coaches, the food was awful the staff were miserable the bed was rock hard. tired looking hotel could do with a makeover.on the plus side the rooms were clean and spacious need a new chef it reall was cheap nasty and awful
Our room was nice and modern. Bathroom can stand a renovation, but other than that it's a nice hotel. Staff is friendly and professional, breakfast is good enough. It's a bit pricy, but that's the usual price range for BW.
Stayed one night whilst visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo. Hotel was part of package tour booked with National Holidays. Really enjoyed our stay, lovely staff, clean and comfortable accommodation and reasonable bar prices too. What more do you need?
As a family of 13 that stayed 2 weeks at this hotel, we found them very accommodating to our wants and needs, but unfortunately with the heat and lack of air conditioning we found it very hot in the room as well as the hallway. It felt like they had the heaters on! Also the wifi was really slow especially at night when everyone was on it. The lobby was a great place to meet our relations that stopped by for a visit. Construction would start at 7:30 a.m. on the addition they have added. Beds were not the best and the tiles in the bathroom could have been cleaned better.
Great location for seeing lots of places. Car park available clean rooms friendly staff great value evening meal nice lobby area to sit in. This is my 3rd visit to this hotel and every time it has been well presented .
Initial view from front did not look great Very warm welcome at the desk from Christine that i booked hotel direct with was fantastic Room was imaculate but slightly dated Food was great and very well priced backed up by very good bar and restaurant staff Only fault if anything Steak overdone but was so tasty I said I would keep it even though they offered to change it Best of all after the service Malbec on the wine menu ive been drinking for over 20 years glad to see its gone on trend eventually Well done all
This was our last night in Scotland. chose this hotel as it was close to the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel. Plenty of parking. Bit concerned when we arrived as there is work on going but did not cause us any problems. Room small but had everything we needed. Staff helpful, provided us with a fan for the room as it was a hot night. Food at dinner and breakfast tasty and very good value.
The location of this hotel to local amenities is excellent and we found our room very comfortable and clean. We were asked if we wanted to eat in and after seeing the menu we decided it was our best option as was great value for money. The wifi at this property is the best we have ever had in the world 5 bars in our room. The only down side we could see was that Sunday breakfast didn't start until 8am and we preferred to be on the road by then.
This hotel is ideally situated only a 10 minute walk from Falkirk Grahamston train station and the town centre. The hotel seemed to be undergoing some refurbishment at the time of our stay, but this didn't cause us any noise disturbance at all. The room and en-suite bathroom were good in size, clean and well equipped. Breakfast in the mornings was varied and plentiful, with attentive staff. The on-site restaurant offers great value for money, with an attractive menu, generous portions and tasty dishes. Everyone we dealt with - from the person who arranged our reservation (Lynn), the friendly and efficient receptionist who checked us in (Peter), and the housekeeper working our corridor (Sharon) - were very welcoming, kind and helpful to us. This was a very enjoyable experience and I would totally recommend this hotel to friends and family (I already have).
Stayed here for one night when working away from home. I was warmly greeted on arrival by a friendly young man at reception. He chatted and offered me advice on running routes, also taking a note of specific dietary requirements for the restaurant and giving me a preview of the menu. The restaurant staff were also very welcoming and the young man who worked last night and breakfast today was a real credit. At breakfast this morning I arrived at the same time as the bus tour. He noticed this, offered to find me a table, and sorted out my tea and gluten free toast. The room was small but comfortable and very quiet (at the back). I slept really well. Staff really make the place. Current renovations will improve it further. I'd definitely stay here again - thank you!
Good location and lovely friendly staff. Small but comfortable bedroom, bathroom clean and adequate, Fierce power shower. Bar and restaurant both good, the food was delicious and plentiful and not expensive Would recommend.
Really enjoyed this stay at the end of our trip in scotland. comfy beds, great food in the restaurant and lovely breakfast. Room was on the small side, but perfect for a 2 night stay. falkirk grahamston station is just a ten min walk away ad then 30 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley. Also about a 20 minute drive from bannockburn and stirling. Would stay again.
Although Ideally situated for visiting the wheel and the kelpies this hotel is a bit tired and in need of a refurb. Our room was quite small and next to the maids' cubbyhole making it noisy in the early morning and power shower was so fierce it was more like a power washer. However the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The evening meal in the restaurant was very good value.....£12 for three generous courses. Breakfast too was good. Served until 10 am, we arrived at 9.40am and there was still plenty of choice.
This sums it up...no atmosphere, small bedrooms and uninspiring food. Stayed here with a colleague for local work, but bedroom was gloomy, wood headboard, wood desk, brown carpet brown walls, little space. Menu was uninspiring but at least cheap.....however no individual prices for dishes so have to pay minimum of £10 for 2 courses even if you just want one. Breakfast self serve which means soggy , flaccid bacon, overdond mushrooms, claggy scrambled eggs and toast brought at start, thats cold by the time you want to eat it.
There is little parking at this Hotel and after driving all day I arrived to not have a space. admittedly there was a funeral on and I did get a space later. The evening meal was a very good price but I paid extra for a steak and was unable to eat because it had so much Fat. The other items looked good so I may have chose the wrong item. The room was small but sufficient but the entire hotel seems run down and dirty with a small lift. The main problem was the Plumbing in the bathroom. The toilet stopped working and I didn't want to report and have an engineer in my room late at night Also I had a bath and the plug could not stop the water leaving therefore I had to constantly run the taps to keep water in. The next morning I got washed in the sink and the Water would not leave. All in all I would not stay here again
Stayed at this hotel after our visit to,the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies. The hotel,is ideally located to visit both of the above. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bedrooms were both furnished and decorated nicely and lovely and clean. We ate our evening meal in the reastuarant and it was really good value for money., Buffet breakfast - lovely Would we return - yes
Check in was first class the young gentleman was very on the ball and helped us with all our questions. Dinner in the evening was 10/10 top marks to the chef, Lois and Amanda and not forgetting the bar man who was cheeky and smiley ??. They all made our visit very special. Thanks again guys from Lucas age 10 and his family.
The hotel is clean ,the lift is large, the staff are friendly and obliging and the breakfasts are out of this world. The only downside is that the hotel does not have walk in showers only baths which has showers, but as a safety feature their is no hand rail to help with climbing into the bath. The car park is large, but as non residents enjoy an evening meal there , the car park gets full and if you are returning from a day out, you may not have a space to park in.
Just a one night stop, place is well placed, staff all very friendly and food is good, rooms are fine and do the job, there are improvement works going on but it doesn't impede on the hotel too much, well place to visit the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies
Travelled with the GB Tours coach group. Room was very clean on arrival, comfortable bed and wonderful super fluffy towels. The bathroom was very attractive and clean but not very user friendly due to their being no grab rail on the wall nor handle on side of the bath. Health and Safety risk of slipping whilst getting out the bath / shower. Food was excellent. We had our dinner in a conference room as we were a coach group of 41. We ordered off a special menu for coach groups but there was plenty of choice. Nice location, perfect for our excursions to Edinburgh, Falkirk Wheel, Kelpies park and Bo'ness railway. Staff were very helpful.
I've read a lot of reviews slating this hotel about its dated decor which is fair enough, but I judge a hotel on the food, cleanliness, and my ability to get a good night's sleep whilst there. Firstly the food was good it had a home cooked meal vibe to it and three courses for £12 you can't complain, secondly the hotel is spotlessly clean and finally I got an awesome night's sleep- so much so I struggled to get up in the morning. So would recommend this hotel.
Comfortable, clean, well turned out room. Pleasant welcome, nice bar area. First floor bedroom overlooking aircon units not ideal should you want the window open. Breakfast ok, but service a tad below that expected. Not impressed with uncleared shoes and trainers! Otherwise would have been a four star
Stayed one night on the way to a business meeting. Hotel was satisfactory for that purpose. the mid-price paid was fair value for what I got. Building work to exterior but not a problem. The hotel was clean and tidy.
Stayed here one night. First impression as you arrive is OH. Interior looks tired also. Room was Ok and bed was comfortable. However we were on 1st floor and I was woken at 04.30 by noises below. Breakfast was Ok but nothing special.
Nice hotel only 10 minute walk from the Falkirk town centre. Good clean bedroom with super bathroom, plenty of hot water. Food excellent and evening meal for £10 for 2 courses, great value. Would return.
Short stay very pleasant and friendly staff always obliging, excellent well sized rooms with television, shower, etc. Can "HIGHLY" rate the food offered to us it was very tasteful indeed served by friendly young polite staff, breakfast was self services and was always hot, also the waitresses were on hand at all times, no complaints at all, In all a very pleasant experience couldn't have asked for more highly recommended indeed.
One night stay for business, convenient for station, 10 min walk, although some uphill. Hotel in pleasant residential area but close to centre of Falkirk. Compact room with comfortable bed, great shower. Great value B&B rate. Restaurant was modern and comfortable, food was great and fantastic value. Would definitely recommend.
There is something of a retro feel to this hotel, not sure if thats deliberate but the 1970s vibe felt very comfortable and I don't mean that flippantly ! The good points - room was well appointed, clean and comfortable, all of the staff were very helpful and friendly especially in the restaurant, speaking of which the food and beverage in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and excellent quality both for the evening meal and breakfast. Car parking was ample even with building work taking up half of the car park and the hotel is in a quiet and pleasant residential area. The bad points - don't really have any apart from the fact that the postcode on my satnav took me to a cul-de-sac with no access to the hotel fifty yards away, use the street address rather than the postcode - thats not a fault of the hotel though ! Can't get over the fifty shades of beige though, but don't change it, I liked the 1970s.
Arrived for two nights very easy reception process hotel ideally situated for trains into Edinburgh were return tickets were open and nine pounds return . Had an evening meal which was very good value and well cooked drinks are also reasonable price wise the room was top notch and the service of the room matched this . All the staff were very helpful and friendly
Brown walls, carpets, furniture... and that's just the reception. Bed was comfortable but the brown theme continued; worse was that it was not clean and I noticed in the morning that all of the electrical tests on the lamps and hairdryer etc had expired by years. Client safety should be a priority so this really is not acceptable. Dinner was ok if you like frozen chips; breakfast was good. Staff were lovely. Wouldn't go back.
Been here many times rooms nice clean and comfortable with tea and coffee . Breakfast booked with room £5 each great value large selection. Waitress very help full. Food excellent and so are the staff. Great value.Evening meals good value and lots of it.
Friendly staff, excellent food in the restaurant and value for money. Great location and easy to find. Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was a treat and pleanty of choice and great quality. Would stay again
stayed at this hotel a few times due to work and this is a very nice hotel. Staff are really friendly, the rooms are clean and well furnished and very comfortable beds. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced.
As a family with a few dietary requirements (1 x fussy vegetarian, 1 x vegan and 1 x multiple food allergy sufferer) we can't see past the Park Hotel for a family dinner out. We always call ahead to speak with the very friendly restaurant manager to discuss options to suit all 3 diets. I fully appreciate how time consuming it can be catering for people with dietary requirements and some restaurants have left us feeling less than welcome but the manager and waiting staff at the Park make it seem effortless and are always friendly and pleasant no matter how busy they are.
Just returned home from a 4 day holiday. The staff are all great, service excellent. rooms very comfortable & clean. The food was very tasty with plenty of choice & generous portions. Self service breakfast good. We woild love to visit again, the Hogmanay evening was very enjoyable, a good night was had by all.
I'm sure that this hotel is generally good but there were a few issues which have made me think I won't be returning. First of all, on arrival it certainly looks like it's first come first served with the car parking. I know this can be the case with a number of hotels but this isn't obvious when booking. We were lucky to get a space. However, it was a really icy day and the car park was completely treacherous. It's on a slope so trying to get to the front door from the car was a scary experience.. to be honest, grit should have been put down early in the morning. We didn't arrive until after 5pm and there was no evidence of grit put down until the day after. Checking in was simple although I didn't find the receptionist the most friendly I've come across. It's always nice to maybe find out if your guests know the area etc. and to maybe give some information but there was none of this. Finally, the worse experience happened to me on the Friday night which was through no fault of the hotel but they could have made my experience in Falkirk a little easier. I went out with my partner for the night and sadly, due to a combination of new shoes and very icy pavements I fell badly and smacked my head on the pavement which caused me to bleed heavily. An ambulance was called and I was taken to the local infirmary where everything was done for me and I had a CT scan. I was kept in overnight for observation whilst my partner came back to the hotel and had to stay alone. He'd had nothing to eat and arriving back at the hotel at 4am he was starving - luckily a porter made a sandwich for him but I was shocked to see he was still charged for this. I was discharged from hospital on the Saturday afternoon and the difficult decision was to return home to Newcastle to visit my own doctor as my injury was very painful. However, after packing up and going to checkout I was really surprised to find the receptionist not at all bothered about what had happened to me - she just went about her business checking us out. I was expecting to pay for 2 nights but due to the unfortunate incident I really thought she'd do her absolute best to achieve some form of discount for me. Like I said, this wasn't the hotels fault but surely I could have been refunded for one night especially as I'd not even spent a single night in the hotel. I felt paying £120 for 2nights anyway felt extremely steep for a Best Western which I don't think is the best - I frequently visit Arran and the Kinloch hotel there is far better with fantastic staff who go out of their way - also has a better view so I left with not only a nasty gash in my head and feeling very sore but with a £120 bill for 2 nights which I unfortunately did not get to experience. I think if I worked in the hotel trade I would go out of my way to achieve some form of discount, even if it had been 30% or something especially as I'd been through such a traumatic experience. I didn't ask for a discount at all but I did explain why I was checking out early. It was a shame the receptionist just seemed very blasé about the whole thing and nonplussed. I think this is the first average review I have given for any hotel on Tripadvisor which is not an easy thing to do.
I stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip, I've stayed before as it is such good value.. Lovely breakfast (best poached eggs!), great value dinner (2 courses for £10 or 3 course for £12) and the friendliest staff you will meet. Yes, the rooms are a little dated and I always seem to flood my bathroom but c'mon... Looking forward to my next work trip, I'll certainly be staying here again.
Cannot praise this hotel enough. They organised my daughter's wedding at very short notice. Nothing was a hassle and the team on the day were amazing. Hats off to the park would highly recommend for an event. Special thanks to Lynn Penman she was an absolute star.
We came to the park hotel for the 3 courses for £12. First we ordered chicken nachos and one nacho without chicken for a vegetarian diner. The chicken nachos were lukewarm cheese not even melted. And disgraceful course for our vegetarian diner who got cold nachos with a small handful of cheese on top will post photo. Secondly I ordered a beef burger that came out burnt to a Crisp Black with cheese on top to try hide the fact it was burnt. When I sent the burger back to the kitchen the chefs comment on the burger was that it was char grilled this is the reason it was black. What a excuse for bad chargrilling and cooking.. anyways I had a other burger what was send out what was bland but nicely cooked and moist. vegetarian diner had the tomato pasta what was enjoyed. Other diner has the pork fillet with black pudding mash. The pork fillets looked like 2 thick slices of bacon. With a small portion of mash and veg. Puddings where standard. Rather disappointed with our dining experience at the park as it is usually very good. Won't be back again. Waiting staff where very good and understanding
One of the best hotel stays I have experienced in a long time The room was clean and well serviced with fresh towels and coffee tea and milk The staff were friendly and very helpful The restaurant served up a varied menu of good food at a very affordable price Thank you for a very enjoyable stay I would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to friends
I was recommended this hotel by one of my customers who is based in Falkirk . A very nice hotel that offers great value for money . Ample free parking , spacious bar / lounge area . The room although a little small was well equipped and spottlessy clean . A rather limited choice in the resturant for evening meal but 2 courses for £10 , it was definitely good value. Buffet style breakfast had plenty of choice. This hotel offers so much more than the chain hotel options for a lot less money. I will definitely be booking here again on my return to Falkirk.
Stopped here for two nights whilst working in the area. It's very well situated for Falkirk being only walking distance to the town centre. Everything was OK the rooms were clean and the food was great and good value. The things that made it average was the noise. I had a room net the kittens if I didn't have plugs I doubt I'd have slept. Also the pillows could do with an upgrade. Also Wi-Fi in the higher rooms is a little weak.
We only stayed one night but it was a very clean and comfortable room. The evening meal was brilliant value, £12 for a three course meal with generous portions and good quality food. It's a good idea to book a table as it gets very busy. For breakfast there was a good selection of food to choose from. All the staff were really nice and helpful
Good room size, plenty of storage. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a great powerful shower. The hotel is situated 20min walk from Falkirk High Station (down hill to the hotel, but a good climb on the way back) Also not a straightforward walk, but the lovely people of Falkirk (Scotland) are always willing to help. Lovely breakfast!
Visited last week and stayed prior to Neil Diamond concert. Tour arranged through national holidays. Due to later than expected arrival at hotel, evening meal time rearranged between our coach driver and hotel.. Time being of the essence and having waited 45 minutes for food to be served, the "head waiter" in the dining room was most unhelpful telling us that IT WAS NOT HIS PROBLEM! Well sir, it certainly was not ours. Never have I met such a rude, arrogant and smug individual. He certainly did nothing to endear Scottish hospitality. The hotel itself was ok - bit dated but clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. Other staff were helpful and pleasant - they were all female too! Despite this, wouldn't stay here again. As a paying guest I expect much better. The behaviour of this individual was unacceptable and has ruined the reputation of this hotel as far as I am concerned.
We arrived in room 56 only to find the table lamp was not working. The rooms are not well lit at the best of time. Reported this to reception who immediately sent a member of staff to change the bulb which was not successful so a replacement lamp was provided. The point I am making is that it appears housekeeping does not check that the lamps are working. We then went down to the restaurant to eat only to be told that no tables were available but we would be called. We waited and waited and waited. After waiting more than 45 minutes and with the restaurant virtually empty, I queried the situation and was told that someone else had taken our table by saying that they were in room 56. It is not rocket science to devise a system to prevent problems. Having a complimentary meal was appreciated but the problem should not have arisen.
Good location, with only a short walk to the shortest street in Great Britain (consisting only of a pub and a coffee shop). Staff were well trained and welcoming. Food in the restaurant was excellent value.
Likes: Close to the town centre and train stations. Very helpful and friendly staff. Nicely sized room for 2 people. No problems with the wifi. Beautiful area. Nicely cleaned. Dislikes: Room is very warm, even with the window open and it being quite cold outside. The blanket was very heavy, not helping with the heat of the room. Bed kind of stiff, not too bad. A mini fridge would be a great addition, would've been nice to keep some foods that need to be cold and not waste drinks especially when they go room temperature pretty quickly in the hotel.
A comfortable hotel with friendly staff but unfortunately not one of the better Best Western hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is on a main road on the western suburbs of Falkirk and as it was a warm day the window in my room was open (and needed to be). As the rooms are not air conditioned the sound of the passing traffic meant that it was not very peaceful. There was a small teapot on the hospitality tray in the room which was good, but unfortunately I had to clean it before using it as it had stale tea in it. Other than that the room was clean and up to a good standard and comfortable, although it's an hotel which does not replenish the shampoo and shower gell on the second day! It had an easy chair which was very relaxing to sit it, as well as a small table. The other chair in the room - probably a former dining room chair - had lost the padding on the seat which meant that when I sat in it to work at my laptop the wooden frame of the chair with a sagging gap in the middle made it quite uncomfortable as I was sitting on the wooden frame. This was solved by placing a pillow on top of the chair! One other problem was that there was only one spare 13amp socket in the room which todays techology (laptop, phone and tablet charger) was certainly not enough. Thankfully I always pack a four gang socket extension. The restaurant was pleasant although the menu was limited. The service however was very efficient and fast and the staff were very obliging. All in all I would give it 5 out of ten and while I would stay there again I would look at alternatives first.
Liked: the staff, the restaurant, the food (breakfast and dinner), darkness created by closing the curtains. Disliked: the room. The bed was uncomfortable, instead of sheets and blanket(s), you get a duvet in a duvet cover which is far too warm, and you can't get rid of any blankets to make it cooler. The pillows were awful. The window opens only a crack, which is not enough to bring cooler air into the room. The wi-fi frequently stops responding, and I had to repeatedly turn wi-fi off and on, on multiple devices. Loved: the shower. Amazing water pressure and temperature. A second shower curtain on the outside of the tub would keep the inside one from billowing into the shower with you. The restaurant, food, and staff were good, but since the primary reason for staying here was to get some good nights' sleep, and the room conditions prevented that, I have to give this hotel a below average rating.
The lobby indicates that the hotel is modern and updated. This is not the case in the room we had. Although it was not terrible it certainly needs updating. One of my pet peeves these days is the touting of free wifi. Sadly the free wifi in our room was limited to an area directly adjacent to the corridor. It worked fine if you stood next to the door leading into the room (or pulled a chair over). It is 2017 and we are now accustomed to instant access to email, texting and online services (how we book rooms in upcoming destinations for instance) and when trying to communicate with our family when the wifi drifts in and out is frustrating and unacceptable in this day and age. Updates are required at this location based on the room we were in, which was third floor overlooking the parking lot.
I was put off initially with the 'look' of the outside of this hotel. However, the price, I booked on the day, was by far the best value. Inside it is a nice hotel, a little dated but very clean and comfortable and less than 2 miles from the Falkirk Wheel. Staff were very friendly and the rooms spot on. A good place to tour from. The views from the hotel are not interesting but don't let that stop you.
rooms need refurbished breakfast poor hotel badly needs upgraded and nobody ask us at breakfast if we wanted anything else or type of toast other people got poached eggs lounge area very tired serving at breakfast hard to get out of dishes
Room was adequate but 'tight'! Chair at desk was okay to sit on to watch TV but sitting at the desk for a long period of time, writing or working on my computer produced severe back ache. The chair was too low, definitely not ergonomic. The toilet in my room started to leak and this got worse. There was no technician to repair it so a towel was put under the leaking pipe. Why not a bucket? In the morning, the floor was covered with water and I had to clean up the mess before I could use the bathroom. In fairness to the hotel, I wasn't charged for the second night as they had no free rooms. There was a wedding on and the guests just took over the lounge area. There was nowhere for the residents to sit. The first night I had dinner at the hotel but it was disappointing. Not expensive, mind you. However, the chicken fillet was undercooked so I didn't eat it. The waiter apologised but I was still charged for the dish! I'm afraid it is not a hotel I'll be returning to.
We stayed in the hotel 14th to 16th August. The staff both at reception and in the restaurant were excellent. Nothing was an issue and they were all extremely informative. The facilities were roomy and extremely clean. The room was large, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large. It is not local to the train station but we did walk to the station without our bags. We walked from this location to the Falkirk Wheel which was a pleasant walk along the lochs but it did take approximately 45 minutes. We walked to the train station to get a bus to the Kelpies which you should definitely see. The restaurant was great value for money and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also excellent
Large car park and reception area, lounge. Room large, shower very stiff and powerful nearly filled the bath up as water could not drain as fast as shower ran. 2 course dinner £10 3course dinner £12, plenty of choice for each course (the smoked salmon starter and beef pie that I had were outstanding). Very good food for both dinner and breakfast. The hotwl is a bit tired in places but forvqhatvwe paid we had good value. Excellent location for visiting Helix Park and The Kelpies and also the Falkirk Wheel.
I was a bit disappointed in this hotel. Although I was only there one night, the stay was pretty average. The hotel looks tired and in desperate need of some TLC. Carpet looked worn, paint was chipped and scuffed, a storage room was visible as you walked to the room (I think I was on level One) and things had just been dumped in there. The rooms (I booked two for our party) were small, the bathroom once again needed to be refreshed. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was dirty, but it certainly has seen better days. It had that whole feel of a tired, chain hotel that the was bottom of the queue of the refit line. If did have parking which was a bonus, and the staff were pleasant enough. Breakfast was Ok without being special.
I have used this hotel on many previous occasions bit was very dissapointed at how poor the room was. The decor is at best tired and carpet dirty, the bathroom was no better with hair in the bath and sink. I opted to check out early and won't be returning in a hurry. Considering the price of the rooms this is very dissapointing. The receptionist tried hard to help with my points and I was given a new room but this was only a small improvement.
Doesn't really look like much from the outside but really nice in the inside, food is lovely, Really well presented but for picky eaters it's not the best. Staff are lovely though. Rooms are very clean. There is no iron or ironing board in the room but I'm sure you can get one on request.
Spent one night here when we had a party at Baberton golf club. Hotel, as other reviewers have said is a but dated and needs some TLC but room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good. Food was fresh, tea good, orange juice good. At £85 for a twin room it is good value which includes breakfast. Each access to central Scotland, the kelpies and the Falkirk wheel. Good for short stay.
We choose the Park Hotel because of its proximity to the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. Don't let the outside put you off, it looks a bit of a barracks, but inside it it's welcoming and the public areas are clean and tidy. Our room was a good size with a large bed and the usual coffee/tea making facilities. The room was a little tired and the bathroom could have done with a deep clean, but all in all it was acceptable. We had free Wifi throughout the hotel with good bandwidth. Both dinner and breakfast were of good quality and reasonably priced and the service was friendly. Would I recommend this hotel for a short stay, well yes.
Spent 2 nights in the Park Hotel on a business trip to Scotland. Hotel is certainly dated and could benefit from a thorough overhaul. Room was adequate if a little small. Ideal for a single travelller but would have been cramped with 2 people. The staff are typically Scottish, Extremely friendly and more than made up for the shortcomings of the rooms. Food in the restaurant (breakfast and evening dinner) were excellent. Location is excellent with all Central Scotland attractions within easy reach
We stayed here prior to collecting our canal boat. There is a large reception area in this excellently priced hotel where you can enjoy a drink in comfort either prior to or after the very good and well priced evening meals. The staff are friendly and welcoming, our room was on the third floor overlooking the park and was large and well equipped with a comfortable bed and good sized bathroom. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Falkirk
Dark, dirty and out of date. Very disappointed booked on Booking . Com whose reviews I do not understand as they rate this hotel highly - not sure why this could be? I was grateful I only stayed one night .
This hotel was first class rooms were very clean everything in it you could ask for staff very polite and helpful meals were lovely will definitely visit again would highly recommend tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms beautiful park across the road worth a visit also nothing is any trouble to the staff here they are always willing to help first class all round
Walking into reception it looked very dated. Check in went smoothly and receptionist very cheerful. The room itself although very dreary it was clean. Requested a fan which was brought up quickly it was next to useless. It was a fan/heater no movement just straight out but laying on the bed couldn't even feel it. Some desktop or pedestal or tower fans would be a worthwhile investment. The view from the room was in to a flat roof and back yard so not the best The food in the evening a good value 3 course meal 12.00. The steak pie was beautiful. Breakfast usual buffet style with a good selection Staff in the restaurant very pleasant and cheerful A good base for work or exploring the local area
Visited her with my fiancé Friday 4th to 5th as we where going to a concert .First impressions very dated reception area but checked in with ease staff very pleasant room again very basic and dated bed hard and room needed a bit of a hoover. Breakfast was very good with loads of choice All in all average hotel u get what u pay for
This hotel has some good points and not so good, Meetings rooms clean and are a good size, Food is always nice but a bit costs can be high, strange smell with you first come into hotel and seating area is not great, very low chairs, bar staff on hand, Overall it needs to come up in the world on fittings extra
This is a good location to visit the Wheel and the Kelpies. The food is good value for money ,car park is free and also the WiFi. The only down side is the room could do with a bit colour and also the hallways other wise ok
When booking in the receptionist asked the cleaner if the room was ready, but when we got in it hadn't been cleaned, very dusty. went for a shower at 10:30pm and found shower broken no hot water, reported it and they sent someone to "sort" it but he couldn't after about 3 calls to reception they gave us a card for a room further along the corridor to use the shower! kettle was rotten, needs refurbished, view from room was rubbish looked out to a flat roof. Only good point was the breakfast.
You know when you need a good solid base from which to run out of, well if you want an ideal place situated between Edinburgh & Glasgow, the this is it! Falkirk is an ideal place with its 2 train stations and many attractions. All of which are within easy drive of this hotel! The Staff here are so very lovely and extremely accomodating, from the reception staff when you check in to the cleaners, from the staff who greet you for breakfast to the chefs who prepare all the lovely food. We had the same high standard of service from them all, all being extremely polite, courteous and respectful and going that little bit extra to make your stay better. The room was perfectly adequate, that's really all I can say! It looked a little tired and the mattress could do with being replaced, but all in all, for a short stay, it was just what we needed.
What a pleasure to find a hotel that is not out to fleece you. We stayed here for three nights and had Free Wifi Free parking Good food priced at £10 for two courses and £12 for three courses the staff were all very friendly and helpful and the drinks were not overpriced. It's a pity more hotels did not offer such good customer care if back in the area would definitely use this hotel.
I used to live in the local area and now every time I return to visit this is the place I always stay! It's a perfect location only being about 5mins walk from the town centre. Staff are lovely and the food is pretty good too. Choose to have their set three course dinner extremely reasonably priced at £12. Portion sizes are huge so do worry about going hungry because of the price. Will keep coming back!
Although I was only staying for one night, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, and was fresh and tasty. Wi Fi worked well in my bedroom. The hotel was a short walk from the town centre, and was in a quiet location.
Stayed here at the beginning of June with my wife. My brother also had a room here for the week. Our room was very good with nice furnishings and tea making facilities. The bed was so big, you could get four adults in it quite easily. I don't know why visitors give this hotel negative reviews, maybe they live in a different world !! The restaurant was lovely, the food was absolutely great. Two courses for £10 and three courses for £12 really good value. The bar was never full so you could always get served quickly. Drinks were very reasonably priced. The lounge area was very nice but take note, the chairs although large and very comfortable were heavy to move ! The hotel staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. There is only one lift which according to the notice inside takes 8 people. Not with luggage it doesn't. Beware of the linen truck which appears daily. Once the guys commandeer it you will have a long wait as they ferry the linen up and down ! All in all a great stay. Will book in here again.
Well maintained older hotel room, clean, tidy and terrific staff. Good value breakfast. Short walk to the Falkirk wheel via canal. Stopped for a cold beer at the friendly Union Inn, staff were brilliant. Nearby is an excellent fish and chip shop.
This hotel is in a perfect place to visit Falkirks great attractions. Our room was large and very clean. The staff very helpful efficient and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent and fantastic value for money. A big thank you to the staff at this hotel for making our visit so memorable and we will return when next in the area.
We were pleased with this hotel, staff friendly, easy booking in, rooms comfy, the shower was wonderful, really powerful, and the evening meal was very good value. Cant fault it, for the price, and parking was free.
Hotel looks decent from the outside, and the restaurant and reception area when you walk I . there was a wedding on so quiet busy, check in straight forward as paid in advance. I booked a 9:30 alarm call as breakfast was until 10:00 am. Quite disappointed when I got to the room as very compact. One bedside wall light not working and Wallpaper ripped above the bed. Bedding and towels nice and fresh. Bathroom a decent size with very powerful over bath shower. I need not of booked that alarm call as just after 7am the noise started, the laundry cupboard was straight opposite my room so the trolleys started from housekeeping, them talking, wheeling trolleys, there was no way I was getting any further sleep. Alarm call at 9:34 (acceptable) and I made my way down for breakfast, usual buffet style, cereals, good selection of juices, cheese, 2 slices of cooked meat that actually looked like beef? , pastries etc and then 4 Bain-Marie type serving trays covered. One contained sausage & bacon, the bacon not bad but the sausage was lying in what must of been 1.5 cm of fat,, covering over half of each sausage.. I refrained and stuck to the beans, potato scone and very wet scrambled egg. After breakfast I went to reception to complain about the noise, I did this I a very calm manner and was basically told they did not have staff in that early but she would check , she came off the phone and said staff did not come in until about 8... I must be a liar !! She would ask them or keep the noise down in future. Not at one point was the word "sorry" used. Morning 2: once again woken by housekeeping staff in the opposite linen cupboard. Then two of them having a conversation In raised voices across the corridor to each other from rooms they were cleaning on opposite sides of the corridor. After some time I got out of bed and went out onto the corridor and asked them to have some consideration, one came to the door way or the room she was cleaning, and just looked at me, the other should sorry from inside the room. I gave breakfast a miss the second morning as was put off by my 1st day experience , although all paid in advance. On checking out I spoke to the same person who had dealt with my complaint the previous morning, she asked if everything was ok, I told her about being woken up again, her reply was that she was sure there were no staff around. (Again I am a liar) I then said that I had actually spoken to them and she just looked at me me. I would hope a chain such as best western would have some sort if customer service training for their receptionists but I think possibly " there were no staff around at this time". I asked to speak to the hotel manager who I wax told was not available, but was not offered any alternative. I said it didn't matter and walked away as I was tired and getting irritable. I then walked back to reception for the email address of head office. I was then told the manger would be in at 3pm and that I could get a phone call from them. I said yes to this, the receptionist then started writing Miss Hayes on a scrap of paper and asked for my number. I gave her my number, I then asked who Miss Hayes was??? My names is not Hayes. Her reply to me was you! I am still waiting for a callback from this manager .... back to work for me tomorrow, not refreshed as I would of hoped due to lack of sleep due to the disturbance. I will not be revisiting this hotel which is a shame as I regularly have weekends in this area... very disappointing ... and still no callback from the manager as promised.
A good hotel experience in the short time we were there (barely there ten and a half hours) due to a planned very late arrival although as the desk is manned 24/7, this isn't a problem. The hotel looks like it's a 1980s build so starting to look a bit dated but it seems fairly well maintained and the upkeep is good. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Falkirk Grahamston, so easy to reach and also close to central Falkirk. The twin room was clean, quiet and well-appointed with tea, coffee and hot chocolate, plus lots of space and hangers for clothing. The bathroom was also very clean and modern, with a powerful shower that was easy to operate. Wifi also very efficient and didn't require you to constantly keep on logging back in if you don't actively use it for a few minute like at some places. I logged in once with the password provided and that was it. Good. The only thing the hotel doesn't seem to have is air-conditioning although the occasions this could be deemed essential in this part of Scotland are so limited that it probably outweighs the investment, at least for the present. The self-service morning breakfast was very good with a wide range of options, plus there were other items from the menu you could order. The hot selection was particularly good and vegetarians well catered for with beans, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and tomatoes. All staff encountered were very helpful, including those working in the restaurant area at breakfast. A good effort by the staff involved on the day of our visit.
When you arrive and park you can be forgiven for thinking that this is an old building in need of some TLC but inside it is as modern as you need it to be. Rooms are reasonable size but everything you need is in there. Restaurant was busy but service was quick and the menu varied enough. Two courses for £10, three for £12 so not going to break the bank. Staff helpful, parking enough, beds firm, bar prices reasonable and cooked breakfast in the morning. For the price good enough and I will stay again
WHen I pulled into the car park I was initially disappointed, as it's not the best-looking hotel I've seen. However, the reception and bar area was nicely done out, and the staff are superb. Room was very comfortable with nice big bed, though the view of the beer kegs and rubbish bins out of my window wasn't the best! Handily located to walk into Falkirk town centre too.
Bog standard Best Western hotel, £68 for a single person, cooked breakfast included. No major pros or cons. Management could make this hotel easier to find by giving a building number and by making up their mind what the hotel is called. Camelon Road is fairly long and the hotel itself displays a large sign saying "Park Lodge Hotel" despite all the ordering info said "Park Hotel" leading one to be unsure if it is the correct hotel until one is checking in. The lift was quite moody (sometimes not doing what one expected and in any case not very fast). Would stay again.
Stayed in this hotel at the start of June and got the last room. Room itself was compact and a bit dated but clean and tidy. Corridor was very messy where housekeepers had pantries open - for a quality hotel, first impressions suffered. Flat roof at the front of the hotel was unkept with random objects (including a joiners saw) being visible from the bedroom window. Hotel is conveniently located and reception on check in and check out were very welcoming friendly.
The hotel is very tired and in need of renovation. The bedroom was at the back of the hotel and was dark, dingy and very cramped! The room did not feel clean and my partner was sneezing due to the dust. The bathroom air vent was full of thick dust and there was hairs on the bathroom floor. Stayed the 2nd night in a Holiday Inn Express in Motherwell and what a difference and cheaper - far superior. It has certainly put me off using this chain of hotels in the future. We used the restaurant and the food was nice.
Stayed with a group lift takes 6 with luggage reasonably priced bar Nice food fast service for group Nice selection for breakfast Quieter area only 2 miles from the town centre or Kelpies / Falkirk wheel 15 mins off motorway Ticked all the boxes for an overnight stay
This hotel is dated and in need of a revamp. The rooms are unbearably warm even though the heating was off and this prevented a good nights sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful which made a one night stay more bearable than it otherwise would have been. I suppose it all comes down to value for money depending on how much you have paid. Its certainly not worth paying top dollar for. Average at best.
Stayed here two nights while attending the European rugby cup finals at Murrayfield. Location was superb, short walk to train station and a 25/30 minute journey by train. Less than £10 for a return made it cheaper than a hotel in the city. As per other reviews the hotel is in need of some TLC but I found it clean and comfortable enough, I didn't really spend much time in it. Breakfast was average, didn't find it particularly hot but what was served was reasonable quality. Staff were all friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Would be happy to stay again if there were no better options available.
Stayed here for 1 night for work purposes, it really needs a revamp, it does not look welcoming from the outside and inside is quite dark and dated. The bedrooms are also in need of modernisation and my room was far too warm. The evening meal is good value for 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £12, but it had the appearance of being mass produced instead of cooked to order, the soup was a little bland and the salmon over cooked. Likewise the breakfast looked like it has been sat for a while and I was just brought white toast instead of being given the option of brown, overall a basic hotel which was ok for 1 night but I wouldn't rush back...
Last night on our tour of Scotland, staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little small as we had two cases and it over looked the back of the hotel and bins. Food was good and the buffet breakfast offered plenty of choice. The car park was a little tight for family sized cars partly due to company vans. The Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies are only a short drive away also a park across the road for a relaxing walk.
Falkirk Park Hotel is well-located for travelers coming in by air at EDI or from the west by auto. Nicely located on the edge of the centre city area. Well-appointed with modern and reasonably large rooms. Large entry and open lounge. Excellent restaurant on the premises. Outstanding breakfasts. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Large spaces for functions. Reasonably accessible to Edinburgh city centre by rail and bus, though a bit far out. Nicely located for visits to Stirling. Wi-Fi may be problematic in some rooms.
Visited here today with friends and family for a relative's wedding. The ceremony was conducted on site by an authorised assistant registrar in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. The meal afterwards was in the form of a hot 3 course lunch, which was extremely well organised by superbly disciplined and courteous staff members. The quality of the meal was fine too, given that it was a meal delivered in a timely fashion for about 40 attendees. This venue is highly recommended, therefore, based on today's experience.
I visited the Park Hotel with few friends recently and had a great night. Food was reasonably priced and we were not disappointed with quality. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere and hotel very clean .
We have just returned from a weekend in falkirk staying st the Park Best Western. this hotel is the ideal place for visiting The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. We travelled by train and found the local bus service very handy and cheap. The hotel was fantastic. Nice rooms, lovely fluffy towels, staff very pleasant. Helped anyway they could informing us any queries we had about the area. the food was FANTASTIC. The evening meal was £10 for two courses and £12 for three courses. The starters were nearly a meal in itself .Everything was well cooked and the presentation excellent. The portions were very generous that I never reached a dessert. Well worth a visit
Stayed for one night and found the hotel to be excellent value. Bedroom good size and clean. Staff where really friendly and welcoming; would stay again if in area. It's close to Falkirk Stadium (short taxi ride) and no problems getting taxi. Hotel is based in good residential area and close to motorway connections.
i booked this hotel as a central place to get to places like Edinburgh, Stirling, Glasgow, loch lomond etc, first of all the staff and service of the staff i thought were 2nd to none excellent. we booked an evening meal for the first evening, as we didnt really know the area.we came back from a walk into the town to eat dinner and they had lost our booking but managed to seat us all the same. my wife and i both had a 3 course meal. starter, wife had soup of the day, i cant recall the starter i had. but soup was good. mains i had highlander chicken, which i thought was very dry (over cooked chicken) wife had a steak, our chips were a let down no colour to them and hard inside not cooked at all, we both had the waffle and ice cream with maple syrup which was very good. our room i thought was on the small side room 4. the shower in the room awesome very powerful. breakfast was ok sausages would have been better if brown all over not just top and bottom. wife had boiled eggs asked for soft, got soft but some of the whites was still runny. next evening we didnt eat in so i ordered a Chinese takeaway i asked the restaurant staff for a plate and spoon and. 2 mins later got them. very good staff all round. breakfast next day was ok. all in all not to bad. but i do expect food the be cooked if im paying the bill. couldn't fault the service though, all pleasant and i left a tip. that doesn't usually happen lol. would i stay there again ? for sure i would. dont know if there are different sized rooms ?
The hotel is in quite a good location, however the rooms are tiny and the view from the window of the bins is not the best The hotel is tired and could really do with a make over, when I stayed there was a wake in the barand it was full of on Unruly drunken people until late
We stopped over for a night on our way up to Inverness. We didn't get there until fairly late & just caught the restaurant for dinner . I'm a veggie but there was nothing on the menu that I could eat but when I raised it with the waitress it turned out that they could do various options for me & I ended up with a very nice curry . The rooms are a decent size & spotlessly clean . The bed was very comfortable indeed . Breakfast the next day was also good . My son & brother both had the full English & there was plenty of veggie cooked items for me too. The only downside was that our rooms were at the back of the hotel & there was a constant noise from either a refrigeration or air conditioning unit that ran all night which meant you couldn't have the windows open. Would use again though as the pros outweigh the single con
My friend phoned to book and said two in the party were coeliacs. She was told it wasn't a problem - it was We were given a menu with the gluten free options marked The first was broth with barley -not gf The only other option was melon or salmon. We chose salmon - they had run out Skipped the starter Main courses - highlander chicken with no haggis. Chicken and black pudding without the black pudding. Curry and naan without the naan Finally opted for the chicken. Big piece of ghastly white chicken, some huge bits of almost raw turnip. Only ate some of the chips and when the waitress took my almost untouched plate away she didn't ask what was wrong with the meal Pudding - fruit salad When we complained they did deduct the cost of my meal but a nice evening out with friends was spoiled
Good value for money , the restaurant prices where excellent value , 2 course for £10 3 course for only £12 . Help full staff. Deco abit dated and in need of brightening up . Bed wasn't to my standard . Over all a nice stay and did it's purpose I'd definitely would consider staying again next time I'm in the area.
First impression of the foyer was that the carpet was old And looked dirty. Check in was ok. Stayed two nights. Room was smallish but clean. Had a radiator which was switched off busy despite this the room was far too hot and no way of cooling. Security window was cracked. Wall were wafer thin. Could hear an "excited" couple next door at 3am as if they were in my room. Second night just as hot despite mentioning at reception. Ok hotel but wouldn't use again.
My aunts always loved staying at this hotel when they came over from Ireland so naturally it has been on my list of potential stopovers in Falkirk. On this occasion, I stayed over two nights with my wife visiting family. There is plenty of free parking and the foyer is plush and expansive. The wi-fi is free and worked pretty well. Our room was on top floor. It was quiet [out of earshot and vibration from their function room]. The furnishings were well appointed with all I'd expect. The double bed very comfortable, but the ensuite was not quite as impressive. True, the shower was sensational and the towels plentiful and refreshed over our two nights. But the light over the sink did not work making the morning shave too much a matter for guesswork than I would have preferred. Sadly, it was not repaired despite my alerting the front desk of this defect within an hour of arrival on the first day. The extractor fan was positively geriatric though on the plus side it made little or no noise to speak of for what usually seems like ages after use. The lift must have been a close cousin to the extractor; I timed the ascent/descent over three floors: I couldn't hold my breath that long. Curiously, the voice declaring what floor we were on etc. had an upper class English accent so you can imagine my relief that it didn't get stuck and we weren't in a hotel that had more than 'eleven' floors. [You won't get that if you don't do YouTube] Meals were similarly full of big hits and the odd miss. Sunday roast beef supper was fantastic, the portion very generous, but the sauce on a mushroom starter seemed to come straight out of a cut-price tin. A second evening's meal of gammon steak was both tasty and equally and generously apportioned as the first, but I would advise you here and now to avoid the Cajun chicken. This had been incompetently cooked [in fact under-cooked in places] and well over-spiced. We told the waitress who [rather unenthusiastically I thought] said she'd tell the chef. We waited a while for the chef to emerge in floods of apologies and begging for forgiveness, but when this did not happen we made our way to the lift before remembering the stairs were probably quicker. To be fair, I mentioned this meal again to the desk clerk on the morning of our departure who immediately, and without further fuss, took the price off our bill. Well done on customer service that clerk! For me the evening meal didn't seem quite such a disappointment after all, but of course the opportunity for my wife to enjoy a good evening meal with the love of her life had sadly passed. Despite the above pickiness, I would definitely come again to this hotel. At the price I paid for our two night stay with dinners and breakfasts, it seems a reasonable bargain. The odd mishap can be addressed and hopefully not repeated on my return as well as for others.
I feel a bit mean only giving three stars, but our double room was very small. However, the food was really nice (especially the homemade lentil soup), the room was very quiet despite there being a wedding in the hotel, the bed was comfy and the shower was fabulous!!!
Stayed for one Saturday night. The hotel felt dated and the room was cramped. OK if you're traveling light perhaps but we struggled with 2 large suitcases. The decor was bland and dated. However the staff were helpful and there were 2 receptions on that night. We were well shielded in our room and there wasn't any noise encroaching in to our room. Breakfast was adequate and the coffee was better than in most chain hotels, would still try to stay somewhere elsr next time we are in the area.
We had a lovely, well valued, 3 course meal for only £12 pp. The menu had good choices and we all (6 adults and 2 kids) had different meals where they all looked delicious. They were tasty and very well presented. I also asked the waitress if she could do anything for my friends birthday (the reason we went) and she come out with a little cake and candle and started the happy birthday song off. Wonderful, nice touch. The venue was clean and the staff never stopped as they were fully booked but worked with a smile. Highly recommend.
I have stayed here a few times through work, nice comfortable hotel, slight niggle as there were long dark hairs on the floor, not mine as I have short fair hair! i do not like this. Breakfast was o.k. not the best. but was edible.
On arrival, the car park had one available space so they must have been expecting us. The main reception area was lacking a bright welcome. However the girl at the reception desk was the opposite. She had a bubbly personality and exchanged some banter. The lift was working but a bit tired and sluggish, like the remainder of the hotel. Very poor lighting and also poor heating considering it was a very cold night. We dined in the restaurant and ordered a bottle of wine. Normally the waiter would open the bottle and offer a taste. No he just placed it in the middle of the table without a word. The impression from the staff throughout our meal was one of "let's get this over as quick as possible". The food was good. Overall a disappointment.
To be honest in many visits to the Falkirk area I have not yet found a very good hotel. Welcome was good in a very brown reception area. Double bedroom quite small and very brown. Service in breakfast area quite brusque but food Ok except food in buffet containers getting cold by 8:30 am. Overall good value at £70 per night so cannot really complain.
I stayed one night at this Best Western. It's a sizable '60s built hotel. It's clean, functional, cheap but the rooms are small and once out of the reception area, the whole place feels dated. It's OK for the odd night but I would not stay any longer. The saying 'you get what you pay for' is definitely true here.
I stayed for six nights while waiting for completion of a property I bought locally. The breakfast was good, but the dinner 3 courses for £12 is excellent value, the food was delicious. The staff were always very helpful, friendly and polit. I would recommend this hotel 100%
Room was basic but comfortable food in the hotel was very good and only £12 for 3 courses staff was very nice and pleasant and was made to feel welcome there is also parking available and it's only a 5 minute walk into town
Hotel is fine, the food is good and inexpensive as is the beer. £12.00 for a 3 course dinner and £3.50 a pint. The staff in the bar and restaurant courteous and polite. The room I was in was spacious enough, T.V was an ok size , although I had to fight with it to get a hdmi lead in to it. The main reasons for only providing it 3 stars was not feeling very welcome in the bar area and lounge... the staff are a bit too stiff. The other reasons was where my room was situated.. I was next to the lift shaft and could hear what sounded like a helicopter rotor everytime someone used it , also outside my window which faced the back were the air con units which go on all night. I'm sure if I was in a different room I would of given the hotel 4 stars. My advice? Get a room at the front if you want an early , full nights sleep or some sort of sleep remedy / ear defenders if your in room '21'.
Very clean room , the strange thing was hot water flowed from both hot and cold taps, spoke to reception, who got straight back to me and explained it needed to be run for at least 5 minutes. Strange but true ! After about 5 minutes the cold tap did in fact flow cold. As a temporary fix to allow me to make a drink in my room, it was suggested I got a jug of water from the bar, which I did and was served by very obliging helpful staff. Breakfast was well cooked and was fairly average, whereas the evening meal at 3 courses for £12.00 I thought represents excellent value for money.
Stayed at the Hotel as part of a package coach trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo staying for two nights, we found it to be very clean and comfortable with the standard hotel room layout. The evening meal we had was from a limited menu this was well cooked and was presented in good time by friendly staff. the breakfast was the full English or Continental version more than enough to set you up for the day. A good place to stay for the night or as a base to use for exploring the area.
We stayed here one night while visiting with family and were very disappointed in this hotel. We have had meals in the restaurant on several occasions and had wonderful meals, but the hotel side is very much in need of a complete renovation. It is very tired in appearance and in need of a good cleaning. We will not choose to stay here in the future.
The hotel was clean and comfortable breakfast was cold and my sisters case went missing but another guest took it by mistake over all staff was friendly only fault was breakfast being cold great value for money and central will stay there again
Needed a budget hotel on a Saturday night to attend a wedding. This place fits the bill. Old building, but location and availability worked. Comfy bed, lots of hot water and great water pressure. Breakfast was nothing special, however it was a full hot buffet in the morning with everything I was after. So do not get me wrong, nothing special is ok. BUT. The hotel is DIRTY. Stayed in room 45. Did not look like the place had been vacuumed in many weeks. And we are not exactly talking about a lot of free floor space. Under the bed...........gross. Around the edges of the room............gross. The corridors outside?!? More dust, dirt and grime than actual carpet. I get that hotels get old, a bit run down, things may not work, but you CAN keep it clean!! All staff encountered were friendly, if a little rough around the edges at times. Some training would go a long way. Car park is a good size, and looks reasonably secure. Only a 5 minute walk into Falkirk town centre if you have the need to go.
This hotel doesn't have great kerb appeal (it looks like a 60's/70's build) - once inside the decor is fine - the bar and lounge area are well kept and there are lots of comfortable seats - the restaurant serves well cooked meals - there is a set menu - 3 course for £12.00 - i stayed for 3 nights and ate well on each night - the menu was varied and there is plenty of choice - the staff are well presented and courteous - all in all a really nice stay
Toilets in rooms easily blocked. Flush appalling. In restaurant, dining tables for 4 adults were inadequate. We had to put jugs of water on different tables. Waitress moved it to the communal serving area. When I took my son's breakfast upstairs, the staff said a cup was missing. Rooms were too hot. My husband woke up with a headache. Other couples said they could not adjust the heating. I asked at reception and the receptionist said it was not adjustable, and said there was no air conditioning. I told her my name. She did not write my email address. She said the duty manager would get in touch. I doubt she took me seriously. Our room lighting did not work. They did not bother to fix it. Quite a list of faults to ignore. Poor attitudes and bad service.
We enjoyed the stay, after a long day of travel. The staff helped us to find what we needed and were friendly. There was not a lot of places to see nearby, but we had everything we needed. I would stay there again.
My husband and i decided to give this a try tonight, waste of 29quid ,hubby got the lasagne the grease was floating on top and at the bottom ,told the waitress she cldnt see a problem with it,did ask if he wanted anything else but he was put off .bill came and he was charged for he food that wasnt eaten,,i dedcided to pay it and never go back gave it a chance there wont be a second chance ...i hope i get a reply from them would be nice for companies to take responsiblity when wrong has been done
Upon arrival we saw a dated building which looked quite run down and with cigarette butt confetti adorning the floor around the entrance we entered with trepidation. The reception area is ok, out dated but within my expectations for a budget hotel. The downfall was on entering the room, it was clearly not cleaned. The floor was thick with dust and crumbs, the bed was collapsed to the point of a feeling like you were lying on a hill. Behind the radiators were huge thick cobwebs which would lead one to believe it's been a while since it was cleaned. The bedside tables / phone were thick with dust (dust being flakes of human skin), the reading lamps were hanging off. I reported this to the reception and the very nice young lady from the restaurant came and hoovered and herself admitted it was in an awful state. Un satisfied and unwilling to spend a night in such conditions we called for the duty manager who admitted that the state of the room was unacceptable and moved us to a slightly better room. But I emphasise only marginally better. I hope to be factual rather than subjective and must concede that the manager offered us free drinks for the inconvenience. At dinner the young lady who kindly hoovered the first room explained that the hotel was due a major refurbishment in 2018 and as such the hotel has not been invested in for quite some time. That said, I've been in many old hotels and they have been clean. My gripe with the place is down to cleanliness and being generally run down. The food at the evening meal was similar to a wetherspoons menu, generally pre prepared frozen food etc but palatable and plentiful. Breakfast was woeful, buffet style with scrambled eggs swimming in water and pink, uncooked bacon with white fat glistening. I settled for toast. The staff can't be faulted as they are inherently in the firing line and I'm sure they are fed up with answering for the shortfalls of the hotel itself. My advice would be to go to the premier inn down the road, at least you know it's clean and tidy with benchmarked standards and procedures in place to ensure housekeeping etc is taken care of.
Great hotel great location only 10 mins into the town great park over the road where we went for a picnic since it was a nice day. Seems one of the better hotels in Falkirk. Room was perfect for what we needed. Fresh towels both days. But forgot the shower gel / shampoo.
Reception Front entrance and reception clean and fresh and very welcoming. Member of staff on reception very polite and very informative on arrival. Housekeeping Firstly I will say I am a Housekeeping Manager, for another hotel group. I have high standards of cleanliness in rooms and attention to detail is paramount. Serious concerns about your room standards specially if your Head Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager are checking and passing rooms ready for guest arrivals. 3rd Corridor carpet not even hoovered on arrival. Smelling damp Room 49 was disgusting, light on wall next to door not working, thick with dust as well, so clearly not done in weeks, mould on the tiles in the bathroom moud-ex will remove and toilet wasn't clean, pics of the bottom of the toilet not clean. Bedroom window catch broken so you you open the window inwards on the 3rd floor not locked inwards. Bathroom Floor tiles all stained/dirty. High level dusting not done. TV not dusted all lamp and chrome tissue box dusty. I know what surface dust is and things that clearly havnt been touched. Carpet edges not done for a while and under the bed clearly not been done either. Do the team not have daily, weekly, monthly tasks to do or sheets to sign off. Clearly your Head Housekeeper/Housekeeping Manager is very relaxed in checking room standards. Very Disappointing!!!!! I would of complained but as we arrived late for a wedding, just left it. £90 a night and breakfast. Not worth it. Breakfast Staff very welcoming and polite, food choices excellent. I was asked how our stay was when checking out by reception staff mentioned complaints said she would pass it over to Housekeeping nothing to say that I can get manager to contact you. I will also be emailing Best Western Head Office
booked for 10 people so they knew we were coming. however the service was continually slow. had to repeat requests and even though they were not busy. food was good and does seem to be so consistently a shame about very poor service as has not always been this bad
stayed on business, location is Ok but the rooms are small and the ones at the back have an appalling view of the roof fans. Woken at 0600 by someone from the hotel dumping the glass bottles. One lift which is archaic to say the least. Staff are very friendly
This is the first time I have stopped here. It's location is handy with just. 10 minute walk into town. It is a very tired and outdated place. Clean enough but unappealing. Would I go back? Probably not. There are far better places near by.
Husband and I went to Edinburgh military tattoo and was booked in to the park hotel Falkirk. It is one of the few hotels that I have no complaints whatever from lovely friendly staff comfortable clean rooms and and excellent menu for dinner and breakfast so would certainly recommend this hotel.
I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions and it was always consistently very good. Having not been for a while, I was glad too see that the standard is still very good. Room I was in on this occasion was a bit dated, but very clean and fit for purpose and had flat screen TV and kettle with tea and coffee. Usual shampoo and shower gel in well presented bathroom. Restaurant now has a new menu and a 3 course meal for £12 on a Tuesday evening was wonderful value for money. Food was excellent and served quickly, service was the usual excellent standard by very friendly staff. Breakfast is now buffet style and there is a great selection of very tasty food and once again the staff on duty were excellent. Check in and out is quick and without fuss, was good to be back and I look forward to my next visit.
Stayed here one night with my 10year old Grandson as part of a national holiday deal to go see the Edinburgh Tattoo. We arrived late afternoon & was greeted by very friendly staff. For our 3 course evening meal we got a choice of menu, my Grandson didn't like any of the starters, I asked if they could serve him anything else the waiter was more than happy to speak with chef & provide him with a started he liked. The rooms are clean with comfortable bed. The breakfast was plentiful .
Dropped in here (without pre-booking) for a Sunday meal. Great menu choice and very quick service in lovely restaurant. Staff were helpful and attentive and despite the restaurant being busy, the ordering, serving and paying went like clockwork. Prices also very reasonable, Well done Park Hotel restaurant staff. Food delicious! Expect us back soon.
We used the Park Hotel as a stop-over on our way to the Highlands. Easy to find, close to some interesting attractions and major rout to the Highlands and Islands. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were satisfied with our overall experience
We didn't check in until late but the staff were very helpful. Lovely pint of Guinness and a good night sleep. Restaurant was busy which was a good sign as the food was great. Would recommend staying.
I stayed here and commuted into Edinburgh as the hotels there are so dear during the festival. It is a modern hotel recently improved which coincidentally i visited in 1977 for a cousin's wedding. The rooms are clean and well fitted out but rather small which I guess is not something which can be changed. The bar/lounge area is continuous with the reception and restaurant and all was very pleasant. The only down side is that no real ale is provided which I always look for. The food was very good though nothing fancy. The table d'hote style menu offered 3 coursed for £12 which is very good value and everything was quite nice. The steak for which there was a £5 surcharge was still good value although my sirloin was a bit fatty for my liking. Instead of a small rim of fat there was a huge piece which is not too appetising. I felt the restaurant staff, although very efficient and brisk with the food, were not too happy and did not smile much. The good value menu attracted a lot of people in the restaurant from within and from outside the hotel. For this reason it is worth booking a time to eat on arrival Breakfast was comprehensive with plenty of hot and cold choice. The haggis was lovely with a peppery after burn which I always like. The sausage was not so good and was a "catering" sausage low in meat content. All in all I should not complain too much as everything else was fine I used the laundry service which was excellent value and same day!! A good stay for a reasonable price
Three friends and I decided to spend one night at this hotel before going onto see the Edinburgh Tattoo,we were a party of a coach tour, when we arrived at the hotel our keys were waiting for us at the reception desk. The reception/lounge area was spacious plenty of room to move around and an excellent seating area. Our room was spotless along with the bathroom,we overlooked the main car park and the main road, the noise was not too bad we had a small table for two in our room overlooking out to the park which was across from our hotel. The evening meal was excellent a good selection of food plus service,we had a drink at the bar before setting off to Edinburgh. In the morning we went for breakfast which was a buffet breakfast help yourself to sausages, bacon, black pudding, haggis, tomatoes or scrambled eggs, the member of staff asked if we wanted tea or coffee, plenty of toast was provided for us and one of our group asked for porridge the waitress went into the kitchen and came back with a large bowl of porridge.I felt that the food could have been slightly more hotter. The hotel staff were all very friendly, and the hotel was spotless,if you fancy a walk after dinnner/breakfast I would recommend a walk across the road to the park beside the main house in the park is a lovely walled garden which you must view to appreciate.Plenty of room in the main car park and you don't have far to walk into to the hotel,be aware that you have a few steps to go up before going into the main hotel these steps are not steep. If you have any queries regarding the hotel or were to visit the staff are only to pleased to help.At breakfast plenty of fresh juice and cereals were provided with a very large selection of cooked food, honey and jam was supplied with our breakfast,I would strongly recommend a stay at this hotel, you will not been disappointed overall with the accommodation or food, check out the website for more details and information.
Arrived at 9 pm to greeted warmly by the receptionist. Provided with details of my room, mealtimes, etc. Asked if I required a morning call and a newspaper. I had asked for a fan to be placed in my room as the hotel has no air conditioning. This was provided. Overall the room was OK with the expected facilities of tea & coffee, soap, shampoo a bath with plenty of piping hot water, much needed after a 5 hour drive to Scotland and plenty of towels. As with most hotels I go in the TV was mounted upon the far wall too high which requires you to crane your neck to watch it. A couple of downsides to the hotel: My room was directly above the hotel smoking area, therefore, I was aware of people talking and smoking which was annoying when watching the TV. In the night, the lights from the hotel frontage were on and the glow from them poured into the bedroom from under the curtains, so If you prefer to sleep in a dark room, then choose a room at the back of the hotel, also there is some road noise as the hotel faces the main road. I received my early call as booked and eventually made my way to Breakfast, greeted with a morning and a smile and asked what I would like to drink. Made my way to a full breakfast and chose my own table to sit and eat breakfast. Tea arrived within minutes of sitting down. Breakfast was excellent! I was working in the town centre and the distance to the town centre was a 10 minute walk. I asked if I could leave my car in the hotel car park and was allowed to do so. This was ultra convenient for me and I was allowed to park for the whole day at no extra cost. My overall opinion of the hotel is that every effort is made to make your stay comfortable, not the most modern hotel but a comfortable, clean, warm and friendly hotel...well done to all.
Went with my mum and daughter after shopping. The service is good and quick, maybe a wee bit too quick, and the portions are really generous so even big appetites wouldn't go hungry. It's obviously a popular place with the elderly as I felt like a spring chicken but I'm sure that's because they offer two courses for £10 or three for £12 and that makes it affordable. I probably would go back, it just wouldn't be my first choice.
Stayed here two nights with friends clean room adequate, bathroom dated. The hotel is in my opinion overdue a complete facelift. The breakfast was a pretty chaotic affair ordered poached eggs and toast, the eggs eventually arrived without the toast and by the time the toast appeared arrived the eggs were cold. The waitress was rather surly and we all remarked that the young lady in question did not want be thereThis hotel is ok for a cheap overnight stay, but I for one won't be back.
Recently attended a wedding at this hotel and must sat how impressed I was with the bar staff. In particular Lauren behind the bar just thoroughly entertained anyway who was present. She indeed is a jewel in the crown at The Park. All of the bar staff took part in the enjoyment of the whole evening and should also be commended
When we arrived a wedding reception was in full swing, the noise continued until after midnight. The Reception Lobby is decorated in browns, including the ceiling and has mostly spot downlights making it very gloomy. This carried through to the bedroom except for the ceiling. The room was the smallest we experienced during our visit to the area (four hotels in all). The price was fair for the time of year as the Edinburgh Festival puts the price up everywhere in the area. The curtains in the room were not particularly light proof, so if your disturbed by early morning sun, wear a sleep mask. Room WiFi was poor to non existent and would not allow me to download basic information, let alone a video file. A plus point is the restaurant in the hotel. Staff were very accommodating with my wife's fickle diet (everything has to be freshly cooked due to medical reasons). The evening meals were surprisingly cheap, £12 for a multiple choice three course meal.
On arrival we noticed straight away that the hotel lobby could do with a good update! Check-in was swift but little welcoming conversation. We arrived in our "Room" which was no bigger than a mobile home bedroom, anytime my wife and I had to move to a different part of the room,it became a kinda dance routine. The bathroom was on the "snug" side also. We unpacked and went downstairs for a nightcap, again the barstaff were not very found of conversation and when I asked for bottled spring water to take upstairs ( most hotels we go to,already have bottles in the room) we were told there'd be a charge for them, why??? We were told we could take up a jug of tap water if we prefer............?? We went to bed and slept ok until around 04:30 when the room started to light up with sunlight as the curtains didn't cover the entire windows! That first morning ,we ordered breakfast in bed which I'm glad we did because on the second morning, people were standing around with empty plates forever waiting on the empty breakfast buffet area being replenished!!! Not a sausage, rasher of bacon, egg to be seen.........oh! but hang on,here comes someone with a soup bowl full of baked beans.........that should keep the hoards happy?it was like something from "Faulty Towers"! We were late in at night and decided to have room service again,my wife ordered scampi I ordered what I hoped would be a lovely juicy sirloin steak.........WRONG!!! They brought up a rather small piece of shoe leather, which tasted similar to the said leather.... called back to the kitchen, told them I'd asked for medium rare but this is not what I got! They took it back and I also asked for a "Bearnaise Sauce" to go with it....My God you'd have thought I'd just asked the guy a cryptic question,..... "We don't do Bearnaise" he said! "Isn't there a chef that can maybe knock one up for me"? I asked....... "Yeah, there is.....but it'll take ages" he said. I told him "never mind" as by this time my wife had almost finished eating! Will I stay her again " Not on your Nellie"! We got a half hearted attempt at an apology when checking out but like our stay here it wasn't very memorable!
For the price this hotel is OK, but the rooms are quite small and a bit dated. The food at breakfast was fine with some choice. Evening meals were a bit limited in scope but were quite edible, though not fine dining. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is plenty of parking, and the hotel is within 10 minutes drive to the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies
stayed at the park hotel on sunday for one night we were ony passing through on our way to perth having stayed there before i new what to expect the room was great over looking the park, the room was very clean and tidy infact brilliant . we had lunch when we arrived, and dinner late in the evening both were superb the staff were first class sadly we stayed only one night ,i would recomend this to anybody.
Stayed here on sat 23rd july 16 Hotel itself is nice parking is good with alot of parking at front and back. Hotel reception is nice Staff were helpful Room was small and had a strange aroma upon entry. Bed wasn't the best but was comfortable enough to sleep. Our room was near the lift which was quite loud when the hotel was quiet (recommendation is to ask to be away from the lift) Room was good had big TV etc was nice for a short stay. I think more than 1 night would be tough. Location is good only 5min walk from town centre I would stay here again however if i returned to falkirk i would look at other hotels also.
Small rooms, dated furniture and décor, uncomfortable beds and some noisy rooms mean that this hotel is best avoided. It's not expensive and the food is alright but there are better alternatives in the area.
Great hotel, the rooms were lovely and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant was amazing the food was great. We aerie only there one night but would stay again. The meal was great. Breakfast was great so much choice
We stayed for one night after we had visited the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. Our room was on the modest size but it was perfectly adequate for one night. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The shower in the bathroom was the most powerful we have ever encountered. So much better than the trickles you find in some places. We had dinner in the restaurant and the value was absolutely amazing. We were not expecting much for three courses for £12 in a hotel but we were totally wrong. The quality of the food was excellent. The service was very good with the waiters working really hard. Breakfast was very busy as a coach party filled the room. The choice of food for breakfast was good and well cooked. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Just spent 2 two nights at the Park Hotel in Falkirk. Had a very comfortable stay. A lovely room at the front (room 50) with a view of distant hills. The food was very good. Breakfast has a large selection and was presented nicely. The evening meal (3 courses for £12) you need to be hungry because the portions are big, and the food very tasty. Good selection too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor though is all brown, could do with a bit of brightening up. The hotel is really handy to go and see The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies (both amazing). Not too far to Stirling Castle, and lots to do and see in the area.
Visited this hotel on Saturday 9 July 2016 for family wedding . Great location and staff very friendly great food and setting .also stayed in room 5 and from the photos included not a great view room clean but very small and extremely warm some a/c would have been great but over all nice place.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was big clean and airy Staff not the friendliest. The breakfast wasn't very good and the whole downstairs area smelled of fish. Wouldn't say it was value for money but the location was good for doing things like the Falkirk wheel and kelpies Hotel-pub along the road was fab with a good beer garden
We stayed at this hotel for two nights and were very very impressed with the quality of the two evening meals we had. The selection was first class and the service very good and the price £12 pp for 3 courses. Where else can you get this standard of food for this price. Our room was very clean and of good decor. If there was a down side it was the shower, which needs updating, or the bath removed and a new shower installed. The "cold" water is also very suspect as it runs hot for over 4mins. Apart from that this is a very good comfortable hotel and although it had a wedding each night we never heard any noise. Yes I would stay here again and recommend it to others.
Stayed here 24th _26th June, was allocated a double room with double bed at time of booking,e- mailed customer services and was allocated twin room as we were two men, quick check in by lovely staff, and dining staff very helpful and polite ,rooms were clean and bed comfortable, would recommend
As we pulled up to the best western we weren't sure if we had made the right decision on where to stay... However as we came into the hotel we were very surprised the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food was lovely, the seating area was inviting and clean. The rooms are basic but have everything you would need!! All in all we would defiantly recommend to friends staying in the area and will return if we are back in Falkirk!!
Had a good stay over night, checked out at 10:45 then was waiting to be collected in foyer. Asked if i could buy a drink at the bar (needed to take medication) and was told i could not as i was no longer a resident!!! Nice trip spoiled at the last minute!!!
Great value for money very pleasant staf, food was great. Had lunch with my daughters we were all very pleased with the service and food. Had not visited the Hotel in years as it had gone down hill, wanted to try a new place for lunch decided to try out the Park Hotel it turned out to be a good decision. We plan to book a family 21st birthday dinner party.
we decided to visit Falkirk or the weekend and booked up at the park hotel, the staff were pleasant on arrival,we were early so asked if we could leave our bag to go for a look around,on return and checked in we went to our room, which was very clean and had a massive bed,tv,hairdryer and toiletries were all available, there was information about the hotel and what was available in it,but also info on what was to see and do around the Falkirk area and beyond if your willing to travel alittle further.....when we were at the hotel a wedding was being held, which was lovely as there was a piper playing outside as the bride arrived, all well and good, but later on after we had gone to bed,we were woken around 12ish by shouting and screaming in the corridor and kids running up and down, this lasted for a good half hour, then all went quiet again.......in the morning for breakfast there is a variety of cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit, yogurt etc,,,,all in all despite being woken up we had a lovely weekend and would recommend this hotel
Not bad. A big hotel all very samet and starting to get a bit tired but it was safe and comfortable with a decent car park in a handy location. Free bottlesld Water in room which was nice so didn't have to buy any and I ordered proper tea to my room which made things more like home. Breakfast buffet was ropey so I sent it bavk and ordered soft boiled eggs which were perfectly done. Sounds simple but this happens very rarely so I was impressed! Serving staff were a bit lacking but they're probably underpaid kids funding their way through college parties so I kinda get it. Been there! Not bad in total as a short business stay but I wouldn't choose to stay for a long trip.
on arrival was upgraded to superior room well if this room is superior I dread to think what a standard room offers I purposely marked my score down there was scuff marks on the wallpaper you could see the undercoat showing through on the skirting board the top of the dressing table was bubbled and peeling in need of a refurb. the bed was comfortable functional bathroom with a very invigorating shower the dining room contemporary light and airy the lounge area also comfortable it's a shame the comforts and fittings downstairs aren't reflected in the rooms upstairs good selection of breakfast items teletext didn't work on TV
Very clean and well appointed hotel, close to the Wheel and the Kelpies. My 85 year-old mum, myself and husband went for a three night stay. Because I had not rung ahead to ask otherwise, my mother was put on floor three and us on floor two. When I asked to be allocated closer together we were told it was not possible until the next day, which was okay. Both rooms were at the back which proved to be quite noisy due to many fans just below which shut off a while then kickstarted into a noisy drone. Next day we were given much larger, front-facing Windows on the first floor which was great. Both mum and I are disabled but I am unable to use a lift, which is my own fault, but the lift did not go to the first floor so mum had to get off on the second and walk down to the first, which she found the easiest. Breakfast saw a choice of many types of foods to suit different palettes. I would not go again as there are no downstairs rooms and I would recommend that anyone intending to stay there books ahead and requests a front-facing room.
Hotel and staff were excellent not a problem in site and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant was well laid out and clean and the food was great value for money with a very good choice. Will definitely stay here again.
Stayed overnight on our way driving to The Highlands. In a lovely location, our room was very comfortable with a huge, comfy bed. The facilities were very good although we did find the pressure in the shower was a little too severe. The evening meal at £12 for three courses was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the pork with black pudding and the chicken curry. The staff were friendly and the service was good. We were, however, disappointed at breakfast. The plates were cold and the food only lukewarm, although the food was of good quality.
Went as a group for a mid week meal. For the money paid it was excellent with a good selection of choices. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent place to go out for a mid week meal.
very friendly staffnothing was to much trouble, stayed 2 nights, food good 3 courses for £12, we stayed to visit kelpies and wheel. the room on the 3rd floor with good views over dollar park.good to walk round, with a lovley walled garden.
Stayed whilst visiting the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies. Hotel service is very good. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Food is excellent value for money... VERY good value. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity considering the price. Would definitely stay again.
Overall very good. Friendly staff on arrival, room was clean and had a view over to the park opposite. Pity that rooms on the first floor at the front are above the smokers areas so if you open your window for 'fresh air' its not great. Evening meal was good as was breakfast, staff all friendly and helpful The outside doesn't look great but inside it is all fine and as you would expect for this sort of hotel. Free wifi good also
Stayed 2 nights as a party of 7. Comfortable room, view over the park. Good choice of evening meal in set 3 courses for £12. Buses from over the road to bus station, then bus 3 from stance 7 to Wheel and bus direct to Falkirk stadium for the Kelpies. Day ticket costs £4.50 for adult. The pink shuttle bus between the wheel and kelpies isn't running at the moment (May 2015).. 10 minute walk to railway station, to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling
Stayed for the 3rd time this year at the hotel. Good excellent , staff very polite and attentive. Serving staff absolutely fantastic myself and my colleagues would recommend staying here. Rooms very comfortable. Showers and bathrooms very clean and the shower lovely and powerful. When we're next in Larbert we will stay there again. Thanks
excellent location for visiting both the wheel and kelpies. we had a lovely room overlooking the car park . and the meals were excellent too.we ate at the hotel every night would definately recomend this hotel.
the staff were very helpful and friendly.the room was clean and large enough.the food in hotel was excellent, both breakfast and evening meals.at the evening meal you could have three courses for £12-00 which was great value.
My partner an I stayed here for a night as we were at a family get together in Falkirk. The hotel is lovely, room and bathroom were clean and the following morning breakfast was magic would highly recommend and will use again when down that way. Definitely value for money!
Evening meal here for a birthday. Set choice menu with the usual suspects and decent sized portions. Thanks to staff for providing candles for the birthday cake. Good all round service. Decent parking spaces as well.
Five of us went for a meal fo my dads birthday. No a la carte menu just a £12 for 3 courses menu but that was fine. Decent sized portions and all served piping hot. Usually when you go to a place with set menu they are trying to bulk the money up with the drinks. Not here. Had to ask for drinks every time. We were not even offered a wine menu. Will go again. Thanks to the girls for bringing out the birthday cake and putting candles in it (as I had forgotten to bring them - oops).
The hotel was well situated just a five minute walk from the town centre. An ideal location to visit the town and also take in the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant meal was enjoyable.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during a visit to Scotland. Our main reason for the choice of this hotel was its proximity to both The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. (Both within easy walking distance) We found the reception staff to be very welcoming, our room was ready even though we arrived early. There is ample on site parking. Our room was clean, had everything we needed, maybe a little tired but this wasn't an issue because we would prefer tired but clean as opposed to modern but dirty. The wifi worked for us. The food was very good and well priced, both the breakfast staff and evening staff were very friendly. Would we stay again, for the price yes.
Good location in a dated hotel providing small well equipped bedroom and good breakfast all with friendly staff . Good on site parking. Set price dinner at very reasonable price and of good quality. Good for short stay
Stayed here 2 nights , our room was spacious and had all the facilities I liked except for plastic glasses to have a drink with. good Wi-Fi once I got the reception to re-set the routers. Excellent breakfast in fact to much for me, but all very good. The highlight for me was the shower, nice and powerful flow, best I have ever had in a hotel. I arrived on a Friday evening and the restaurant was packed and also very busy on Saturday. I noticed the Rotary and Round Table meet here, so that is usually a good sign that the locals use a good establishment.
Four of us (two couples) ate here on Saturday night 19.03.16. We all had the 3 course meal which was very good value at £12 per person. We found the waiting staff to be very friendly and the service was very good with no long wait for our first course to be delivered and this was carried through to our other courses. The breaded fish that I had for my main course was especially good. For service, value and quality I was very impressed and will be happy to eat here again.
I stayed for one night, carpets in foyer and landings were worn and rippled. Landing on 2nd floor to my room had an unpleasant damp like smell, TV in the room was very small. Breakfast had a good selection, although I ordered an omelet and it was not fully cooked. Once was enough.
Clean and comfortable with decent restaurant, probably needs a refurb and a better bar area but I would go back as overall it was fine Breakfast was really good and I had poached haddock which was excellent
Myself and about thirty guests arrived for morning tea/coffee etc., after my Mother's funeral. The room was tastefully decorated. The tables were beautifully set and the staff carried out their duties in a professional manner always ensuring that everyone was offered tea and coffee and top ups if required. The food was plentiful, well presented and also very tasty. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
I stayed here on business for 3 nights during February 2016, the hotel is comfortable and very reasonably priced, Staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant serves good food and the 3 courses for £12 is a brilliant deal. Ideal for a business or pleasure.
We had the pleasure of attending the CEA launch event. What a great day and a worthy charity. The service was good, the room was excellent and the food great; loved the steak pies - highly recommended. Thanks to Duncan and his team.
This is a very comfortable hotel that is located on Camelon Rd on the way into Falkirk. Large car park and very efficient and friendly check in,well laid out reception area with restaurant and bar. Rooms are well laid out and nice and clean and have large bath with shower. Good food served in the restaurant and you can get a 3 course meal for less than £13. Breakfast was excellent and cooked breakfast is a very large plateful that includes everything. Would thoroughly recommend for short stay.
I had my wedding and reception here in August. The build up to my wedding was simple and no fuss the team at the Park took all the hassle out of it with the General Manager Tommy Fleming continuously going that extra mile to sole any challenges we had on the run up. We had an amazing wedding reception beautifully decorated in the Camelon suite this is when the master of ceromonies Duncan stepped in and took control of the whole day and this guy was brilliant nothing was a problem. He controlled all the guests brilliantly even when we decided to invite them all across to Dollar Park which he made sure they all got over and back in time to start the evening reception. The room was amazing well laid out and beautifully decorated out. The dinner service was amazing Duncan controlled his team brilliantly providing a 5 star service during the meal which was great the food was exactly what we were after and tasty. The day and evening went brilliant which both my wife and I truly believe that the team at the Park were the reason behind this. Would recommend this place to any couple looking for a venue.
My husband and I have just returned from having lunch in this hotel with our walking group( over sixty of us). The service was first class as was the food. Choice of food was excellent as was quality and presentation. Could not be beaten for value for money.
We went for our annual Christmas family dinner on the 13/12/15 and sadly wont be back. Firstly the room we were giving was freezing cold that some of us wore our jackets all night. The staff did get two of the smallest heaters but they were no help. The meal its self was terrible I had to send mines back, I would have sent it back again but I was very hungry by this point and others at my table were nearly finished their meals. The staff were very lacking and we had to ask for obvious things like milk for our teas and coffees. This is the second time we had our family meal here and the first time was brilliant. I even had my wedding reception here 10 years ago and at that time the staff went above and beyond, why then I ask such a slip in service. Lastly (and this may sound silly) there were no Christmas crackers. When having a Christmas meal I do like my silly hat and rubbish jokes.
17 of us for a works night out in the Camelon Suite (small room) for a 3 course dinner and disco party night. Great night! Dinner was lovely, service was very good, DJ was brilliant and all in all can't fault the night at all. Bar prices were reasonable considering what we managed to cram in to a night lol. We're even thinking about going back again for Christmas next year.
From checking in to checking out (2 night stay), I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Staff were friendly, cheerful and efficient. The room was spacious, warm and clean. Bed was very comfortable with clean bedding and I slept very well each night, no noise to interrupt my sleep, even though there was a few parties there on Friday night. TV with numerous channels, hair dryer, tea/coffee facilities (including low cal sweeteners) with biscuits, free Wi-Fi, clock/radio, telephone all provided in room. Clean bathroom with toiletries provided and fresh towels provided daily. Restaurant was good with tasty, hot food and the cooked breakfast provided was too much for me, it was enormous. Definitely recommend this establishment. Car park at front of hotel and an overflow one at rear.
This is a great hotel in a good location both for the town itself and for visiting the area. The room was well-appointed, with comfortable double-bed and all the accessories I'd expect. The breakfast was great and the staff very accommodating. There was ample parking and definitely on my list for where to stay next time I'm in the area.
Good value for money hotel. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom, good food although too generous for me. Three course evening meal for twelve pounds with a good choice on menu. Staff very attentive and helpful.
Statyed with a party. Fast and efficent check in, pleasant staff throughout our visit. No problems at all ( well, perhaps one as our room was very warm and and the decor a bit 'brown' ...personal taste ! ) but hey, this is Scotland, and its better than being cold !. Food in the restaurant was well presented, tasty and hot. Well done to all at this pleasant hotel. Thanks !
Stayed 1 night 24th October very impressed staff very pleasant and helpful rooms spacious and beds excellent. I would recommend this hotel and will stay here again only one small point breakfast was hot and plenty however sausage and bacon was tasteless other than that breakfast was ok
I'd been a little worried by some of the reviews. Perhaps some folk expect too much for their money?! This hotel is conveniently located for central Falkirk. Warm welcome and friendly service. My room was spotlessly cleaned and perfectly comfortable for one or two nights stay. Only disappointment was breakfast - poor service and the food was nothing special.
I attended a family dinner at the hotel two weeks ago. The price was very reasonable for a 3 course meal. However, if the chef has sirloin steak on the menu we expected him or her to know the difference between medium rare and well done. It would also have been good they cooked the frozen pack of catering chips properly.
My husband and I stayed here for one night, it is well located for all the local attractions and amenities with good commuting links for both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I'll be honest in that our first impressions weren't favorable, as our booking was made by my husbands employer there had been an error in the information which the receptionist seemed very unimpressed with; we were made to feel quite uncomfortable whilst answering her questions. We didn't see this particular receptionist for the rest of our stay but all the other staff we interacted with were pleasant enough. The building exterior is rather drab, although the car park is big if there is any kind of function on you'll be hard pressed to get a space. Inside the reception area is modern enough if a bit dark, although this is probably more to do with excess amount of brown paint used in varying shades. We were on the top floor, the lift is tiny and slow; between us and our one suitcase it would probably only fit one more person in! We had a room facing over the front of the property, the room was big enough for the two of us if a little tight as the bed is essentially two singles joined together so very wide. It was clean and tidy but when I checked the tea/coffee tray I found that the biscuits were open and someone had been having a cheeky nibble, I can only assume the tray hadn't been changed between guests. The bathroom was small and dated, dirty grout and tiny toiletries, but the shower although a bit old looking had excellent pressure and was refreshing. As mentioned in other reviews the lighting in the evening is poor, there are no ceiling lights in the main part of the room so you are reliant on the the bedside lamps. When getting ready in the evening it was quite difficult to find enough light to do my make up and I had to use the bathroom. Overall I think this review may come across as quite negative but we would stay here again, the room was fit for purpose and it is a good location for getting out and about. There is nothing bad about the place just a bit tired! The restaurant was surprisingly good and I will review that separately.
Free car park but gets busy. Opposite a nice park for a walk or, turn left, and walk up to the canal where there are locks, walks or cycke rides on towpath. Buses into town pass by front of hotel. Feels a bit tired but clean and friendly staff. No good views from bedrooms. Ask for room away from function rooms and reception for quietness.
Passable for a single night on business but a last resort hotel option not a first. Clean and moderately comfortable (don't expect a beautiful view from your bedroom window!) but particularly annoying is advertising free wifi that was so slow I gave up trying to watch catch up tv on it.
I have to say that I was dubious about our booking after reading some of the reviews on here, but I didn't need to worry. My parents and I were booked in to two rooms as we had to go to a family funeral, the hotel and its staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. My parents arrived and checked in before me, I arrived quite late due to my flight being delayed and after a bus, train, and taxi ride I finally got to the hotel just after midnight. The check in was quick and easy, which is great as all I wanted to do was get my head down. The hotel itself is within easy walking distance to Falkirk town centre, this is where you'll find all the usual shops and the bus station. The hotel has a restaurant onsite which is great, breakfast was a buffet style. it was great being able to choose what you want and how much, my only gripe would be is that the chef needs to remember not everyone likes black pepper as much as he does, this did spoil the mushrooms on the second day, but the waitress did offer to make me some fresh ones. For our evening meal I have to say that the steak pie was the best I've ever tasted, but what do you expect from Aberdeen angus. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are very comfy so are the pillows, it would rival any chain on comfort. All in all I would come back and visit this hotel in future, thanks very much best western for a great stay. Thanks again
Been staying at the Park for years on and off on business, mainly due to its location in the central belt. But noticed on the last few occasions I have stayed that certain aspects of the rooms are looking a bit tired, grubby bathroom doors, extractor fan not working. The restaurant also appears to have gone down market with the three courses for £12 offer, which certainly draws in the crowds, however it just seems a bit of a procession i.e. ordered my food and within a couple of minutes my starter was there in front of me. Overall not a bad place and the staff are also helpful and friendly
We arrived later than we wanted after bad traffic and accidents, checkin was good and receptionist friendly, we asked about eating dinner...we were told that there was no need to book as long as we were down soon...less than 15 minutes later we we down for dinner. We were rudely greeted as we did not have a table booked. The food was very average but ok for the price paid. The staff lacked training and had no personality. The bedroom could have been cleaner and some parts were extremely dusty. There was no tea or coffee or even a biscuit on the tea tray just milk! No wifi in bedroom as advertised. Only nice thing about this place is the refurbished reception area. Would we return? No.
Attended a wedding reception here and I was well impressed it was lovely had an amazing time lovely setting with outside smoking area reception area really inviting with two function rooms and a restaurant
Stayed here for a weekend good bar service excellent breakfast yes I would use it again , friendly staff . A bit far from Glasgow I let the noise from outside mate bartered on arrival for 40 sandwiches good sip per our little quietquite satisfied
Stayed on 17.09.2015. for 1 night as we were visiting the famous HELIX PARK @ THE KELPIES. Very nice accommodation and friendly staff. Would visit again. 5 minute walk into the bustling Town Centre of Falkirk. Good hearty breakfast.and efficient Restaurant Staff . Mr/Mrs Curran
