Bruntsfield Hotel

After family emergency dash from Newcastle to Edinburgh hospital, I booked a room late at the bruntsfield, extremely tired and emotional, i checked in at 10:30pm (i booked it at 10pm) only to feel like i had come home, the staff were so lovely and anything I needed was never a problem, from the reception team to the super maid who went out of her way to make sure I had everything. I ended up staying a second night and they ensured I stayed in the same room to save me checking in and out (again super helpful) I had a room that was on the front and I slept so well, the sheets were soft and the bed was comfortable. Actually cant wait to go back .. without the emergency next time. Thank you to the Team !

Superior room so noisy hardly slept at all. The sole purpose of paying for a hotel room is to sleep. Room smelt stale and stuffy so also had to ventilate on arrival. Dreadful experience couldn't wait to leave. No idea where its four stars come from.0

What a wonderful find, I have been travelling to Edinburgh on business and for pleasure, for the last 40 years and finally have found a great little hotel with courteous staff, clean and well appointed rooms and a good breakfast to boot. Excellent - I will be back.

I would like to recommend this hotel for the astonishingly excellent hospitality and kindness of all the staff working here. Whether or not you go to a fancy hotel management school does not matter in the end. What matters is that the people working in a hotel make you feel welcome and care about you and do everything to help you enjoy your stay. I had to change rooms a few times because of some personal issues and each time the wonderful managers Adam and Imogen did everything possible to accommodate me, by finding a room with an accessible shower, and other amenities I desired. Adam brought me fresh pillows and a cup of tea during a moment of distress. The cheerful and hardworking housekeeper, Briney (hope I spelled it right) made me feel so at home as she worked tirelessly to prepare the beautifully arranged rooms. There are tasty treats in the rooms, exquisitely comfortable beds and pillows (rare for hotels) and stunning rooms with a view to the Meadows. While I preferred a quiet room to the back on the courtyard, I saw that each room has something special to recommend it. The scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon were fluffy, hot, and perfectly cooked. The lovely waitress made me a specially prepared coffee, and assured me with a genuine smile that she was ready to do it tomorrow. The lovely young ladies at reception are also kind, smiling, and helpful. You will be very welcome at the Bruntsfield Hotel. You will leave wishing every hotel was lucky enough to have such kind, caring and professional staff. And you will want to return! Thank you so much to all of you at the Bruntsfield Hotel.

Welcoming hotel in nice area with lots of cafes nearby also walkable or on bus route to Edinburgh centre. Our room was at rear of hotel and was silent even with window open. Standard room included high quality bed linen, bath robes and good tea tray refreshed daily. Very clean throughout with comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. We didn't have breakfast so cant comment on that!

Lovely hotel would highly recommend. I stay in a lots of hotels for work which are normally poor. This was a personal trip and the hotel didn't disappoint. Only thing to note is book your breakfast when you arrive as price goes up if you book it later

We had our daughter's 21st party in the pub downstairs, which we hired out for the night. Communication via calls and emails during the organisation and planning was excellent and efficient, we also visited the venue twice to talk about layout etc. everyone was friendly and helpful that we encountered. We were able to get what we and our daughter wanted to personalise her night without any issues. The staff on the bar were fab during the party and everyone bent over backwards to help. I have to say the quality of the catering on the night was much better than most buffet food options, lots of it and laid out really well. There are so many options to choose from for your party. Everyone commented what a great space there is, bar, quieter area, dance floor etc, private twinkle light outdoor space. We brought our own disco lights, decorations etc. would highly recommend for a party or event of any kind. Fabulous! Definitely have your party here! Thanks for an amazing night and the birthday girl couldn't have been happier!

So i'll start by saying the staff on the front desk were lovely and very accommodating, not that I needed anything, but first impressions count. Maria was especially lovely and always had a smile on her face. The location was great, not too far from anywhere really. The room was fully stocked, with fresh towels, robes and slippers. Plenty of tea bags which is always a winner for me and even a lovely tunnocks tea cake to go along side. The room was little warm though to say it was winter. Air conditioning is probably the only thing this hotel needs.

Room stank, were upgraded to a better room which was roasting hot in December with the windows open, were downgraded again on Christmas Day with no offer of help with our bags or any sort of compensation (even a day's free parking would've lessened the blow). I provided them with this feedback and they ignored me hence my review as I wouldn't usually make any negative comments public. It's a shame as I work in the Christmas industry and will be in Edinburgh every year. My parents also live around the corner from this hotel which allowed me to mix business with pleasure, but with plenty of other accommodation options in town, I certainly will not be staying here again. Shout out to the night porter which was the only thing going for this hotel.

Really nice hotel really nice location. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Andrew on reception and Archie and Archie in the bar and restaurant! Extremely dog friendly. Would definitely go back next time we're in Edinburgh.

Great hotel in an ideal location for exploring Edinburgh. Two ladies who served breakfast in the morning (Pauline and Jean, I think) were outstanding, excellent service, welcoming and good fun. Will definetley return.

It is approx 15 min walk from Princess Street. It was great to stay away from the crowds of the Princess Street during the festivities in Ediburgh. We booked a superior room and assigned a recently rennovated one. Loved our stay. Thank you.

I would not class this as a boutique hotel we had a superior room which was on the ground floor in front of the main road. The room was very noisy due to the traffic the curtains did not close so the light shone through all night, the shower was so hot you could not get it right without burning yourself, we did speak to the reception who said there was nothing wrong with it after checking other trip advisor reports they also commented on this problem, we returned to the bar at around 11.25pm one evening to be told we could have a drink but take it back to our room all though there were other people in there drinking. The pillows were hard but we changed when asked. We have travelled around the world using many boutique hotels and this does not compare in any why. The staff however were very nice especially the 2 ladies in the breakfast room. Don't book if you are looking for something special, i would class this as a 3 star hotel not (boutique)

I was not overly impressed with the Brutnsfield hotel. Check in was very easy but we were not able to check in until 3pm, however they did store our luggage and pointed us in the direction of a restaurant so we could have lunch as the hotel bar and restaurant does not open on a Monday or Tuesday during the day. I opted to upgraded my room prior to my arrival to a superior room, which was very disappointing, a very basic room. The hotel is located on a main road which is very noisy. The rooms do not have air con so had to leave the windows open at night making it very difficult to sleep. I had to climb into the bath to have a shower however there were no hand rails to help you. The shower pressure was not great and water temperature took ages to adjust. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly. ****Please note this hotel does not accept any cash, which i was not aware of until i tried to pay for my room upgrade, which is very frustrating **** Sorry to say i will not be returning.

Stayed at the Bruntsfield for five nights in room 4. It was absolutely spot on. Everything clean and tidy and room refreshed every day.Breakfast was first class.Servers could not be faulted and Jean,who we have met on countless visits there was her usual happy,cheery self.She certainly brightens up your day.The receptionists we're very helpful.I use a mobility scooter and it was no bother for them to help me get about.Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for lovely people and excellent facilities.

Every one is so professional, They all happy to help and the bedroom was amazing with great views. The breakfast was also nice with plenty of choices. We will definitely go back. On check out you can leave your stuff in the luggage room which is very helpful if you got a late flight

Dramatic experience. Motorcycle stolen in the night parked in the private parking lot just in front of the stairs of the hotel lobby in the video-monitored parking lot. No one saw or heard anything. Total lack of empathy and understanding. Aggressive employees either disappeared or got caught cleaning their nails rather than helping us (to summarize, but it would take a full story on each of them). Result? Us without a motorcycle, explanation or help, them without any responsibility. To be avoided if you don't want to lose money or anything else....

We stayed in a superior room but compared to other hotels it would only rate at most executive. Ensuite requires attention especially shower.Duvet and pillows bit lumpy and room nothing special. The food in the restaurant was good and breakfast was good.Staff friendly and helpful.

The room we stayed in was uncomfortably hot, even with both windows open and a fan on. We had repeated problems with breakfast. The front desk staff did not log our reservation for breakfast, and on one night they did not provide us with a voucher (required as proof). As a result, we were charged an additional £31 on checkout for a breakfast we had already paid for. The breakfast hostess was rude, abrupt, and rushed us through our meals. We found her to be unapproachable. On the last morning of our stay, she also messed up our breakfast order. After checking out of the hotel, we realised that we had left a bag of clothes behind (either in our room or at the reception desk). After a long phone call with reception, the bag was not found.

Not been since Covid. But had some stays in past. Food good as before. Room too. Clean. Got free upgrade, without asking. Hotel on good bus routes. The corridor layout is confusing at first. But it is a refurbished older building. Staff are as friendly as before, with one exception. There is a park across the road. Good for walking down dinner. One small niggle. Bar/restaurant is cashless. Only takes CARDS. Now I didn't mind in that situation. But do think customers should be able to pay with all legal means. So small black mark for that.

If this is a four star hotel it must be on a 10 point scale. Rooms had old crappy furniture and pitiful decor - they look nothing like the hotel's professional pictures. But the best part was that my room only had one small slanted window. It had zero air flow since it is on the inside corner of the building and didn't effectively cool the room even with a fan right in front of it (see pic). As an added bonus,, while there is a shade that slides over the window, it is useless when the window is open. So you get to choose between being cool and having a dark room. Classy! I left after one night and checked into the Waldorf which was excellent. This place is garbage.

A lovely hotel. The receptionist was lovely, professional and welcoming. The reception area set the tone with juice and Tunnocks Tea Cakes. If you're Scottish you'll appreciate that. A very comfy room with a wonderful soft mattress. I have back problems and it was perfect. The amenities surprised me. I didn't expect to have Brodies tea/coffee and Border biscuits and more tea cakes. Reading this you might wonder why that's a deal. Trust me, if you're Scottish you'll understand and if you're not you will when you have them. Our evening meal was nice, large portions and affordable. Breakfast was the nicest I've had in a long time and was a proper Scottish one with tattie scones. There's a good bus service but it's a nice walk into town with nice shops. We couldn't fault it. I'll go back.

Absolutely amazing location, service, and amenities. We loved the Bruntsfield. Our room was absolutely lovely. The location, within walking distance of everything (20 min or so from the Castle) was perfect. We loved walking up Morningside and around the neighborhoods. The service at the Bruntsfield was superior. We really enjoyed everything about our stay here, and we can't wait to return!

We stayed the night before a wedding- as part of a bridal party and everything was great. Maria at reception was really helpful with our luggage and any requests throughout. The rooms was spacious and comfortable. It was definitely a great stay!

Pre-wedding meal for 22 people which was delicious and served in the conservatory so we had privacy and access to the garden which the children present enjoyed. Halal and non alcohol drinks were catered for and the breakfast was varied and excellent. Rooms clean and well equipped. Multiple stairways and quirky shaped rooms and corridors gave it character but modern deco. I loved the Victorian caricatures on the wall. So handy for city centre and parking spaces were not expected but were available. View onto the bruntsfield links was a bonus and not too much road noise.

I went for a school reunion from the 3 until the 5 of June. The food was good and the staff were good enough to read the menus for us because we were all visually impaired The rooms were good to. The only thing that was wrong was getting around the hotel. The stairs were to steep.

Travelled to Edinburgh for a family vacation and stayed at the Bruntsfield Hotel for a few days. I am someone who follows a whole food plant based diet. The restaurant at the Bruntsfield Hotel, The Neighborhood, went above and beyond at accommodating all of my dietary needs. When asked to modify my meal (salad and entree), not only did the chef modify the dishes, he created a whole other dish with the accommodations I needed. I strongly recommend eating at The Neighborhood!

I haven't visited the BH for a good few years, I regular had lunch there with my mother and always found the service and food to be good. It was good to see that the standards were still the same. Me and my partner had fish and chips, we requested breaded rather than battered. The fish was a good size and the double or triple cooked chips were amazing. All in all exceptionally good. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about wines and service was very efficient. I would have given 5 stars but have knocked one off for displaying a 'NO CASH' sign. I do realise this is an overall Best Western policy but IMO business is business and cash is still king.

We stayed at this hotel overnight, outside and inside looked lovely, staff lovely, room was absolutely perfect and bathroom was amazing. Would highly recommend this to anyone staying, right next to city centre and close to everywhere, we parked at a Q-PARK although there is £10 parking on hotel and the road.

I spent 4 nights in Edinburgh for my boyfriend's birthday and we are very happy with our stay. We arrived and we were welcomed by a very sweet lady called Audrey, the room wasn't ready as we arrived early but she stored our bags and gave us all the information we needed. When we came back from our walk we got our bags and the keys and we were surprised by the room they gave us, it was massive with also a dressing room and overlooking the lovely view over the park. The breakfast is very tasty and very well layed out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Location is perfect as it is only 20 mins walk to the city centre and the castle. It was the perfect stay! I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks for making our stay perfect. We will be back!

Booked for a birthday trip for my son. All round great experience. Rooms spacious with very comfortable beds. The downstairs bar was very cosy and inviting, special mention to the barman who put great effort into a perfectly presented pint of beer! We had the breakfast and was it ticked all the boxes. Every member of staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. We'll be back for sure

Great stay at The Bruntsfield Hotel, lovely hotel, nice location, super staff & service. A short & convenient bus ride from central Edinburgh. We went for the Christmas market (a little disappointing tbh) and to see the sights & sounds of this great city, which certainly did not disappoint! We would stay here again without hesitation.

What a wonderful stay! We stayed for 2 nights with the intention of visiting the Christmas market. From the hotel to the centre was approximately a 25 minute walk which was fine for us. We'd read that parking on site could be difficult but that wasn't our experience with several spaces available when we arrived just before 3pm. Yes, there was a charge but we thought it was worth it for the convenience. Although we arrived a little early, our room was ready and we were delighted to be offered an upgrade. The room itself was warm, spacious and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed and ample storage. The blanket was super soft! The bathroom was a good size and very clean. The shower was hot and powerful. There was bottled water provided on the first day and I was pleasantly surprised to find hot chocolate available as well as tea and coffee. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We didn't have breakfast as we felt it was a little pricey at £12.50 but this does seem to be the going rate.

I see that they have ditched the Best Western association at this hotel and this is no bad thing in my book. It has the appearance of somewhere which when you get inside could be ok but also could be run-down and faded. It's very much the former. Having been refurbished it is clean and attractive with good bedrooms and bathrooms and very well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful and it is ideally situated.

After staying in London hotel it was refreshing to see are room. Room was nice neat and well equipped. Bed was comfy. Location is a bit from downtown but at least it's all downhill when you start. Brisk walk to Royal Mile. I would cab from train station as it's all uphill and a hike. I would have given this place a five star review but one of staff was not friendly at all. Two of the three were fantastic. The other lady wouldn't even lift here gaze when you came in every time. The two gave great advice on how to and where to go. Morning breakfast was good. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed leading to being flustered when things didn't go right. Long story short I would recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay here, very helpful and attentive staff, a breakfast to die for and a great location. For us what let it down was the room. The toilet was coming off the wall, there was mould all over the bath panel and it could have been cleaner. Another thing was it's just been refurbed but the standard could be batter. In our bath room there was grout missing, the plastic skirting wasn't finished, it's all down to attention to detail and it just didn't really look finished. We will come back but it could be so much better.

Great location, good value for money (tip - include the breakfast for £10, saving £5. And it's good!) Staff all friendly and attentive. Met our needs and were helpful when needed. Beds comfy, rooms smart (recently renovated) and clean. We would definitely stay again.

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at the Bruntsfield Hotel in Edinburgh. What a good find, at first we were a little dubious about the parking arrangements which turned ot to be very good no issues whatsoever. The hotel has been totally refurbed and still ongoing with no issues for guests apart from a couple of the stairs are out of use but the lift is spot on. The breakfast is absolutely top class with a great choice of hot food and continental served by wonderful staff. Although the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the centre it well worth the effort in what you get back. Close to the hotel any amount of good restaurants hairdressers and coffee shops. We used the hotel restaurant which was very good especially getting a 25% discount. We will most definitely return.

Our 3 night stay started very well with an upgrade to front suite 206. Like the hotel entrance it was up some stairs near the lift.The rooms were well decorated and furnished. Strangly the bed blankets had been positioned between the sheets instead of over them, the hotel being warm we needed open windows and the front road traffic noise by day and night was a big problem to me, even wearing ear plugs at night! The windows are mostly faulty and do not seal. Our bathroom excellent with fine bath and seperate shower. TV's in both sitting area and bedroom. The room servicing was nearly good, but after the arrival day no further bottled water was given. Decent coffee/tea etc but biscuits not always replaced. The one night we wanted to eat from the bar the kitchen was closed for some time before reopening. Residents should either be able to order or told exactly when that will be possible rather than be turned away. In short I would try this hotel again but never in a front/road side room because of the noise.

We stayed just one night here. We were told we were upgraded to a superior room. It had been recently decorated judging by the smell of paint. On the face of it, it looked very smart and we appreciated the little touches such as robes and slippers. On closer inspection there were a few issues that required attention e.g. the shower door would not fully open so we had to squeeze in to the available gap; the shower head had a gap at the side where the water escaped making the flow very light; the heated towel rail had rust on it and the buttons on the electric radiator in the bedroom were broken and illegible. That said, we had a comfortable sleep and enjoyed our breakfast the next morning. It is a good hotel that I would use again if these problems were addressed.

The Bruntsfield hotel about 15-20 minute walk from the royal mile. Nice location, bus stop close and nice interior. Breakfast really good and huge thank you to Pauline helpful and friendly service at breakfast. Would recommend to stay here.

We stayed here for three nights and had a fantastic stay, the hotel is located in a leafy area just outside of the city, only a 20 minute stroll through the park, the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, the hotel is very clean,our room was large, clean and was refreshed everyday, the view from our room of the park opposite was very nice, breakfast in the hotels restaurant, was excellent with plenty of choice and again friendly and efficient staff, parking on the grounds of the hotel we found to be readily available and secure,the downstairs bar and restaurant was very clean, with welcoming staff, we felt the only let down to our stay was the evening menu, we tried it once and it was very disappointing, there are several other restaurants within a very short walk, which are excellent.

We stayed 3 nights at The Bruntsfield and it was absolutely fabulous in every way. The rooms were really comfortable, the food was delicious (we had booked bed and breakfast but had dinner in the hotel on 2 nights plus enjoyed the summer Saturday afternoon BBQ), and the staff were amazing ~ professional, friendly and a joy to be around. We would highly recommend The Bruntsfield.

Myself and a friend met in the hotel bar for lunch on saturday and were not disappointed as food was amazing. Had steak burger and scottish burger with side order of chips, stuffed afterwards and fantastic value for money. Spotlessly clean and professional staff that couldn't do anymore to make us feel welcome. Will definitely be back again as the whole experience was so relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish.

I stayed at The Bruntsfield for 5 nights with my wife and children. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was large and clean, the staff were excellent and the food was delicious, both at breakfast and in the evening. Thanks to all of your team, with a special shout out to Dougie.

Excellent location and the Bedrooms are lovely. The location is perfect if you are wishing to explore a beautiful city. The Breakfast was waiter service and the staff were lovely and helpful. I arrived on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was closed, but there are many places to eat nearby.

For the money and star rating, this hotel fell short of our expectations. We chose it for the location, but it isn't somewhere we would return to. Other properties have delivered more in Edinburgh. We had two rooms for 3 nights. One frustration was the repeated failure of our room keys. It's pretty annoying to get to your room at the end of an evening and have to go back downstairs to Reception to get your key reset….especially if staff are busy with other guests. The rooms were ok but our bed wasn't comfortable and the pillows were awful. It meant 3 broken nights sleep for both me and my husband. Cleaning of our bathroom wasn't great either - hair in the shower tray, mouldy grout lines and the shower gel/shampoo provided were pre-used. I have NEVER been to a hotel where they give you partly used toiletries!!? I am afraid I also didn't trust the towels were all fresh either (stained and marked) so I asked for replacements on arrival. Having searched for the hair dryer, I found it in a bag covered in dust from the low shelf where it was hidden. It also only worked if you kept your finger on a start/stop button that wasn't very reliable and required some considerable dexterity to keep an even flow. What is wrong with providing a normal dryer? And then there was the complimentary water, provided on the first night, but after that we were told to turn on the bathroom tap. No problem with that (although at more than £200/night, bottled water might have been nice), but at least put a note in the room to tell guests? I have read other very positive reviews about this hotel so I can see there are better experiences than ours amongst other guests, but I am afraid this hotel just wasn't for us.

Nothing to fault at The Bruntsfield. Excellent service from check-in through to departure. Maria on reception was so helpful and professional. Room was very acceptable, breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and the service was first class.

This hotel was booked for us by a travel agent and it was for our last two nights of an eight day vacation in Scotland. What a way to end our trip! The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable with the best bed I slept on during our entire trip. The breakfast is extensive with quick grab items available and hot items that can be ordered off a menu. The hot items are served quickly. Conveniently located near many sites of interest and directly across from a lovely (and huge) green space. Just lovely.

Our stay at the Bruntsfield ended perfectly our wonderful stay in Scotland : the breakfast was delicious, the room spacious and clean, the beds very comfy. Many thanks to all the staff who was so kind and professional, and to Imogen in particular who was very helpful ! We had a great time ! We alraidy miss the silhouettes of Edinburgh's building and will come back with no hesitation at the Bruntsfield !

The title says it all, booked the hotel for a last minute trip back home to Edinburgh and as we love the Bruntsfield area we were very happy after choosing this hotel which looks directly over the Bruntsfield Links connecting with the Meadows. We also brought our big furry friend, Charlie the Bernese Mountain Dog :-) Lots of hotels in Edinburgh are dog friendly and he is always welcomed as Charlie is so friendly. The staff were great with him, showing an interest and no issues at all with him coming and going through the lobby and into the bar / beer garden. We'll be booking this hotel again when we come back in the Winter.

My wife and I were booked in recently for one night with several members of our family to attend a graduation ceremony at nearby Edinburgh University. We were made to feel very welcome by reception staff. Our room was very comfortable and all the staff we came into contact with were genuinely friendly. My one disappointment was the diabolical Wi-Fi connectivity and speed. Quite shocking for a hotel of this status. I wasn't encouraged to complain about it, because one of our group had stayed several times before and his comments about it fell on deaf ears.

The Bruntsfield was a great place to stay in Edinburgh. Easy walking distance of the Royal Mile yet in what felt like a more peaceful neighborhood, across the street from a large park. We visited beautiful coffee shops and a grocery store nearby, although the restaurant/pub looked very welcoming too.

We recently booked The Cardoon Suite at The Bruntsfield Hotel for a party for a group of youngsters. From the outset the staff couldn't have been more helpful, particularly Tomas Perez. We had a wonderful night in a lovely setting. The group enjoyed mocktails and a fantastic buffet. The suite was perfect for our party size and it was great to have use of the conservatory and a dining area. Everything ran like clockwork. The food and drinks were served right on time and our students and staff had a very special night. A huge thank you to everyone at The Bruntsfield Hotel. We highly recommend this venue for private functions.

I lived near the Bruntsfield about 40 years ago, and I spent quite a lot of time in its bar! It was great to come back to Edinburgh and actually stay at the hotel, especially since I had such a comfortable stay. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and had a bath, the coffee sachets were perfectly adequate (see review below), and the breakfast was the most delicious and comprehensive hotel breakfast I've ever had. Thank you very much, Bruntsfield — I'll definitely be staying with you the next time I'm in Scotland, and I hope that's sooner than another 40 years!

This is a lovely but small old house that was turned into a hotel. The room we had overlooked the park and was beautiful. Great food nicely served. In the evening we had a concert to go to after our dinner and the staff went above and beyond to see we got through our meal on time. And, because of the concert there were many guests also going to the same venue. The new outside seating booths are a bonus if you want to relax outdoors. I believe sometimes they do barbecue evenings.

The staff and service at Bruntsfield was exceptional. But when checking in ask about the facilities, apparently they have a Spa. The restaurant and bar and very nice and again the staff were so helpful and catered to everything. I was delightfully impressed. But ask for a fan in the summer, there's no air-con

We have just come back from a two night stay at The Bruntsfield, and honestly we thought it was a cracking place to stay. We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a flight delay, and the staff were really helpful and welcoming despite the time. In terms of food, I really can't believe the negative reviews here. I have stayed at a number of hotels recently and the breakfast at The Bruntsfield was head and shoulders above the other hotels I've stayed in, and we particularly enjoyed the haggis on the Scottish breakfast. We also had an early evening meal in Neighbourhood and the food was absolutely lovely. The rooms have had a recent refurb and have been done out tastefully. Our only minor grumble was that our room was on the smaller side, but still more room than an Ibis or Moxy hotel. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Lovely place.

Room not clean, v stuffy and amenities poor (cheap coffee sachets, one tea option etc). NO ROOM SERVICE & GRUMPY staff (one sweet receptionist but otherwise all staff very ABRUPT and not accommodating at all). Food very basic, coffee not high quality, cooked food low quality. We had a nice stay because the location was convenient to seeing friends & weather was good but would not recommend the hotel and WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with breakfast. The room was nice and the bed was huge!! It had everything we needed and the robes were a nice touch. We had drinks in the bar downstairs and the bar tender (I think it was Dougie, or a similar name) was brilliant. He made sure our drinks were topped up and was also funny and talking to us about our day and various other things. He didn't hover either and is generally a really nice guy to chat to. Breakfast was lovely. There was a continental buffet but also hot food cooked to order. There was 1 woman at breakfast who seemed to be doing everything by herself. She somehow managed to seat guests, bring drinks, take food orders, serve food, clear tables, keep the buffet stocked and check up on guests. She provided an excellent service and I couldn't believe she was managing to do everything but she did. I didn't get her name but she worked really hard and is a real credit to the hotel. There's lots near the hotel and you can very easily walk or get the bus into the centre. You can walk a few minutes to nice restaurants, cinema, park etc. We used the park and ride which I would also recommend doing but there was car parking spaces at the hotel also.

Fabulous trip from start to finish. Literally right from the start. Car park space, which is a necessity as no road parking nearby. Staff very helpful and friendly throughout the stay. Room spotless, plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits. Location is perfect for getting into the centre of Edinburgh. A walk through the park, 20 minutes. We are in the hotel and it was superb food. The breakfast was everything you could have wanted and very well cooked. Again the staff very helpful and attentive. I honestly can't think of anything to fault with our stay.

The stay was a true disappointment. We paid a lot of money and received a stay that was not worth it. Starting off, we received a room right next to the ventilation of the kitchen. The rooms smelled not only like food but also chemicals. Also the room only had one small window, making it very dark. We asked for another room, but they were booked out and we were forced to sleep in a smelly and dark room. The day after, we were able to switch our rooms. But again, we were close to the ventilation of the kitchen, just 2 floors up and the other side. The worst was the cleaning of the toilet however. There was no toilet brush and marks in the toilet from previous guests. This shows that there was no cleaning performed by the hotel. Instead of cleaning it, they gave us a toilet brush and we had to do it our selves!!! What a shame! Also the flush barely works and the internet does not function everywhere in the hotel. The doors don't close properly in the rooms. Breakfast ends early at 09:45, so you should be a morning person on the weekend to have breakfast. The rooms look nice, but a standard double room bed is quite small.

Our 9 days in Edinburgh were made so enjoyable by the staff of the Bruntsfield. Our room was lovely and well cared for, and the location so nice away from the crowds but easy to go to the sites. The staff was so friendly, helpful and understanding. The airlines lost my wheelchair and the staff helped us rent one until it was found. They were so helpful with all the challenges that come with travel in a wheelchair we are grateful for their help. It was a special visit with our family, and this was the perfect place to stay. Thank you, Alistair, Andrew and all those who made our trip great.

We spent 3 nights at the Bruntsfield on our recent honeymoon to Scotland. Our welcome was warm and friendly and all interactions with staff throughout the days we were there was very pleasant. Our room was very spacious and clean, well decorated with a comfy bed - we slept very well! Lots of fantastic amenities including fresh coffee and toiletries. There was a fantastic continental spread at breakfast and the hot food offerings were lovely too. The hotel was only a 20 minute walk to the Castle (top of Royal Mile) which was perfect for us. Overall, a really beautiful hotel, we had a fantastic stay and we would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Nice old building, room was lovely. Car park on site but first come first serve, I parked up and left it there and either walked or took a cab as it is in a busy part of the city. Breakfast was nice, staff were all nice.

It was all OK, something in between a chain hotel and independent with work ongoing in the corridors and radiators not working properly in my room, I booked a double and was given a family room with bunk beds... Lots of space so that was nice but pretty odd in all and since the room was split into 2, it was then even harder to heat with dodgy radiators. Staff 50/50 I felt like a bit if an inconvenience.

Booked the hotel at short notice for a two day break, having been let down by an airline. The hotel was spotless, the food and facilities were great and all the staff were exceptional, in particular Angela who surprised us with a gift when she learned of our cancelled holiday

Just returned from a delightful three day break at the Bruntsfield. Splendid welcome, spotless room and as on previous visits wonderful breakfasts served in a friendly and courteous manner. The refurbishment of the hotel has been carried out in a tasteful and thorough manner. Bruntsfield and Morningside are delightful areas and the views across The Meadows are stunning. Will come again !

Surprised to read reviews that suggest cleanliness problems, I stayed for two nights last week and my room and the public areas of the hotel were absolutely spotless. Room appeared to have been recently renovated, stylish modern appearance, and very comfortable. Good bathroom (my room had a proper shower stall, I really wish more hotels would provide this rather than showers over bathtubs). Breakfast was excellent with plenty of vegetarian options. Staff were all great. Being picky, one of the reasons I choose this hotel is they have an EV charge point. It really needs to be better marked, over two days I saw several people park in that spot when others were free, which would have prevented an EV owner using it for its intended purpose.

Filthy. Honestly the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in., I felt uncomfortable from the second I stepped in the room. There were beard hairs in the sink, hair in the shower, hair all over the bathroom floor. I truly doubt they hoover between guests - impossible from what I saw. Dirt and dust collected on the mirror, hairs all over the linen, thick dust on the top of the wardrobe (which I only realised when I put my suitcase on top and a cloud of dust came down!) For the extortionate price (we paid £230 for two nights) it's appalling how they get away with this. My in-laws room was the exact same so it really wasn't worth the confrontation with the hotel staff to ask to move, as I strongly believe the next room would have been the same. By the looks of some of the reviews the dirtiness of this place seems to be quite a problem. Why hasn't management done anything about it? Shocking. Stay clear.

We booked very last minute and with some trepidation after reading some very negative recent reviews. We need not have worried as all aspects of this hotel were very good indeed. The superior room was large, spotlessly clean and with a huge bathroom. The shower was superb with excellent products to enhance the experience. Breakfast was also excellent. The only slight downside was the traffic noise and I was concerned my sleep would be affected but by 11pm all was quiet and I slept very well. The extra large bed was very comfortable. The hotel has a fabulous position within very easy walking of the city centre and local neighbourhoods, with numerous dining options.

I have stayed at the Bruntsfield many times and it is always good. The rooms are big and well-equipped and there are really nice public spaces. The breakfast is superb and the bar a great place to hang out. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Very few hotels in Edinburgh really have parking whatever they say - usually it is valet service with your car taken away for the duration so not good for popping in and out. The Bruntsfield does though. The location is very good. The restaurant food is perhaps not up to the standards of the rest of the place but I do not think it is the sort of place that you would dine unless the weather is very bad - do not understand me, it is not bad at all - just not quite to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

The room was not clean. Clothes were left from the previous guest. Had to shower in sliders because the bath was dirty. Makes you wonder if the sheets have been changed. Decor is outdated. Unfortunately, disappointed and wouldn't stay again. This was brought to staffs attention who apologised yet I paid full price for the room. Only positive is the location which is great with lots of bar's restaurants in walking distance.

Stayed in one of the refurbished rooms (33) Hotel is looking great as we are regular visitors we saw a big improvement from last summer. Room was lovely and breakfast and service was great. Main problem was the noise from the bar directly underneath the room. Reception had said bar closed around 11pm. Music was very loud in our room and went onto past 12.30. Couldn't sleep sounded like a nightclub below us....

Hotel very amenable to city centre. Staff very helpful and pleasant to talk to with any queries. Breakfast had a good and varied selection. Drinks fairly expensive in bar but would not stop us visiting again.

Lovely modern hotel - The décor was is so modern and well presented, the rooms are spacious and inviting and comfortable. I loved the bright red throw on the crisp white bedding and the deer prints. The hotel bar and breakfast area had a real cosy feel and I would feel happy being there as a solo traveller which I would not normally consider. Staff are very attentive and polite. The breakfast was 10/10 . I could not fault the hotel. It is a short walk from the centre surrounded by lovely shops and scenery. I was on a short business trip but it was more of a social event. I will defiantly return for pleasure.

Always stay here when on business in Edinburgh. On site parking a big bonus - although they now charge £10 - used to be free to residents. Very good standard of furnishing and decor in rooms and public areas. Breakfast spot on - Plenty of choice and good cooked options. Bar area very comfortable - nice place to have a drink or meal. 10-15 mins walk to Princess Street.

Everything worked, good simple rooms with good shower, good internet and comfortable bed. The location was perfect having to work in the area around bruntsfield but close to the center of town as well over the medows. Note the room rate and value were skewed by the hotel being full due to COP26 with a large consignment of police :)

It's a nice hotel within walking distance of the centre. Alternatively, there are multiple bus routes that will take you to the city within 5-10 mins. The building itself is a bit dated. There is a massive park opposite the hotel which would be good for running. The check in was quick and easy. We were on the 2nd floor with a decent size room and a massive bathroom. The only downside was the creaking sound of the floors as well as no sound proofing. I could feel a bang every time a door closed on our floor. I understand that the hotel is being refurbished but I am not sure if it will get rid of this issue. The staff were helpful and happy to answer any questions. The breakfast had plenty of choices including cook to order options. Overall, a decent stay.

I stayed at this hotel for a period of 18 nights for work and it was nothing short of superb. The hotel itself is excellent, but the staff - in particular Iain, Jean and Dougie make it something else. They were the most friendly, polite and helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. No criticism of the hotel whatsoever.

I would certainly recommend this hotel just on the outskirts of the centre in easy walking distance. The rooms are great and the staff are really friendly making you feel very welcome. The food is good and a good variety. The staff are very welcoming. I will be back to visit again.

This hotel is a pleasant short stroll through the Meadows to the city centre but has shops and all amenities on its doorstep. Our room was clean, comfortable and recently refurbished, staff were very attentive and the breakfast excellent and freshly prepared. Highly recommend.

The Best Western Plus in Bruntsfield was a wonderful place to stay. It was quiet while still being close to the city action. There was a park across the way for a run in the morning and a lovely breakfast menu. Check in was quick and easy with the lovely Audrey, and both check out and luggage storage was easy as well. The room was newly redone and other than needing a desk chair and luggage rack, everything in the room was cozy and new. I had several wonderful meals in the restaurant/bar, Bisque, and recommend it as well, even if you're not staying in the hotel.

On arrival we were very lucky to get ourselves a parking space, and well priced at £10 a day compared to the price of up to £30 or more elsewhere in the city. The receptionist at check in was helpful but not the fastest to check us in. The room was a very good size and all appeared well. That evening we visited the bar, and the gentleman at the bar was fantastic. Very welcoming and friendly. The food in the restaurant was also very good. However we did encounter several issues. Firstly we were not informed of building works happening in the hotel until we checked in. This was not advertised on the website when booking either. Although the receptionist thought it was, which was news to us. However after double checking there was no warning of this. As early as 08:00am we were disturbed from banging and drilling near our room and were not impressed. We also had the fire alarm go off multiple times, the earliest at 08:40. This is not acceptable as we were sleeping in after our long days travelling. Furthermore when our room was serviced, we discovered a short curly hair between our 2 teaspoons that had been replaced that day. At this point we had enough and went to reception to complain. The lady at reception was very helpful and wrote down our issues. She told us she would refer these issues to the General Manager. However we did not hear anything back until we checked out. Throughout our stay we found the room servicing to be well below par, not even cleaning the toilet. There was a dirty pint glass left with the dirty mugs each day that was never removed and we actually ran out of toilet roll! It seemed to us that all they did was make the bed and change the towels over our 4 night stay. I'm surprised at this considering we complained after 2 nights specifically about the room servicing. On checkout there was no mention of our complaints until we re-mentioned it and then added more... Apparently the duty manager was busy at breakfast and not available to speak to us, so we checked out, awaiting a phone call to find out more. A couple of hours later we received a phone call from reception to say they had nocked the car parking off the bill. Honestly I don't think this was an acceptable amount of compensation given the amount of issues we had, and the lack of rectifying them or communicating with us after our first complaint. On a good note the hotel is in a lovely location, around a 15 min walk into the centre and close to several local independent cafes and restaurants.

The hotel is very convenient for the city centre sights, we mostly walked to and from with our 8 year old. There is a park opposite and quite a few good places to eat very close by. The hotel is clean and smart with renovation underway (but not impacting guests).

Check in was slow and room keys didn't work, so had to go back down and get a second set, rather boring. On the plus side, It was a Large room and shower room, but why no mirror for hair drying? Lovely bedding and nice and clean room, plus the breakfast was excellent and great value. But the in room phones don't work properly, the kettle lid has a mind of its own and parking is first come first service at £10 daily charge. Am guessing it is due a re-furb, as the decor, notably in the basement bar is depressingly brown, sorry. But good selection of gins.

Great hotel, it was recently renovated and the room was clean, comfortable and large enough for the whole family. It was in a great location, parking was available and the staff was friendly and helpful.

We had a 1 night stay in this hotel. Very comfortable, nice rooms and impressed with the quality of service throughout the hotel. Good location close to the city centre. We didn't have lunch or dinner but did have a good breakfast.

Had a lovely stay here whilst attending a wedding in Edinburgh, the rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated following a bit of a refurbishment, We had breakfast included in our stay which was cooked to order and lovely, The location is great, lots of lovely little shops locally and plenty to do round about it, Will definitely stay again

Generally pleasant staff but having to deal with difficult circumstances (COVID and building works) that are letting the paying guest down. The room I had was very tired and worn. There was a few to many crumbs and hairs around the bed and bathroom from previous guests for my liking. Access to breakfast was by a single small lift, which with it being a tight confined space in my opinion is a COVID flash point, especially with lots of builders using it. For the price per night, I expected better. Maybe the management should consider retiring the old rooms, reducing guests, and speeding up the refurbishment program........ I feel that the room price did not reflect the quality received and, for me, has let the brand down.

A very comfortable hotel in a fabulous location. It is perfect for exploring the best of what Edinburgh has to offer, with the castle a short walk away, and a range of astonishingly good restaurants on your doorstep. The hotel was just completing an upgrade when we were there, and we were well looked after by the very attentive staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Please don't stay here. Our room was covered in stains and unsightly fittings. The room, and presumably the hotel, has a clothes moths problem. Our room had a clothes moth trap on the wall, full of dead moths. Our kids were quite distressed by the ugly stains, old bathroom and dead moths and refused to sleep in their allocated beds which meant none of us could sleep. There are lots of great hotels in Edinburgh. This is one to avoid.

Rather lackluster. Firstly we paid for an executive suite which was advertised as having a bath, it did not so was unhappy about that. The coffee/tea tray was not refreshed every day. Furthermore, the room itself was rather dark. Also be aware the hotel's car park is very small and it's therefore hard to get a space, if you do you are still being charged for it. In terms of its advantages the location is excellent and it is very quiet at night. The staff all seem very helpful and nice, and its overall not terrible. Oh and the restaurant sells overpriced Wetherspoons food but I have to say I enjoyed it anyway.

Very welcoming place to stay. The room was clean and spacious with everything we needed. Breakfast was good with a great selection to choose from and all the staff were happy and smiley although it was busy.

We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon here. The room was clean and a great size. It didn't match the pictures on the website though. The hotel is undergoing renovations so I assume we got one of the old rooms. Its about 15/20 mins walk into the city centre so well placed. Parking is limited but we managed to get a space. Our friend had rang ahead and arranged for drinks to be left in our room..it was lovely that the hotel could accommodate this.

Would stay again but put off by the car parking charge especially as the car park is small and Ive had a car damaged in that car park. The staff were attentive and the room problem we had with our first room was sorted by moving us to a recently refurbished room which smelled fresher and was cooler and larger. Need to ensure you get the upgrade if you are a Best Western card holder. Very good breakfasts.

My self and my husband have just spent 3 nights here and would definitely recommend this hotel, well positioned for all amenities,a pleasant walk to the castle ,shops and other attractions,the hotel was nice and staff friendly and helpful

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, to find no car park Spaces available, apparently the hotel has 69 rooms & 22 spaces. They had builders in who were taking about 3 spaces. Re eption told us to try and park across the road if we could, but all the streets were for permit holders. We asked where nearest pay & display, said don't know. Should have been informed of this prior to booking. Wouldn't have booked this hotel if known.

Second time I've stayed here. The hotel is well-place to walk into Edinburgh and is a pleasant place to stay. The hotel has parking at £10 per day but spaces are limited. Onroad parking is £2.90 per hour up to 5.30 and free at weekends. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and rooms well-equipped.

We chose Best Western as we know the brand standards and because of the photos posted on their website. Unfortunately, the photos do not represent all the rooms as the hotel is going through a renovation which is still in progress (29 August 2021), a fact that needs to be highlighted on their website especially during COVID-19 as all construction workers are roaming the hotel without wearing face masks!! As rooms are still under renovation, we had the unfortunate luck to land on room 201. Old room, worn furniture, worn carpets, old bathroom, and the smell didn't reflect a smoke-free room. The smell was a mixture of cigarettes and humidity. The first night kids were unable to sleep and all the family stayed awake. Though we were very disappointed, the hotel staff showed great professionalism and customer-centricity that reflects the hotel brand and 4 stars rating: As we immediately complained about the room, the Front Office Manager (Emogene) was very professional. She acknowledges the problem, showed great pressionalism. Eventually, she managed to move us the next day to another executive family room worthy of the brand that the Best Western hotels reflect. As for the hotel itself, it is perfectly located. 25 min walk to the city center and all the city historical locations. Also, you can find in its vicinity many bakeries, coffee shops, and restaurants. Good luck with the full renovation and we will be definitely staying again at the hotel when we will visit Edinburgh again. Once more, I would like to say thank you to the front office staff in general and to Emogene the FOM in particular

This hotel has as superb location as Bruntsfield is like a little 'Hampstead'.. you can easily walk into the city centre, or take the 23 bus, but all the nearby cafes, restaurants and green spaces are lovely. I personally like the hotel, it is Victorian, but my room was modern. I did not have breakfast as I like going to the local cafes.

Lovely hotel in great location, room could be redone as dated and few stains on chairs but clean and bed comfy. Internet access was good, breakfast was quick and not buffet style for hot food which was lovely and fresh but need to top up fruit more often. Would stay again.

Room was very disappointing, nothing like advertised. Booked an executive family room but didn't receive an executive room, instead we received a very old and dated room nothing like advertised. Made to feel like we were not valued customers being put in such quarters, very very disappointing. Felt the staff could have done more to accommodate us rather than just a reduced rate to keep us where we were. Bunk bed was not made up properly a flat sheet was simply folded in half and laid on top of mattress not folded around so had to do it myself. Eldest daughter and myself didn't sleep much as didn't feel comfortable. Only stayed for 1 night too so the hotel room was a big part of our mini break, left feeling very disheartened after seeing other families in their lovely rooms. Was told there was only executive rooms but I had actually booked an executive and that the hotel was at full capacity however I was able to go on the website and book for the same night so shows there was availability. Received a room rate reduction but still put a dampener on things that the room wasn't as advertised.

Was meant to book a standard room but they upgraded us to the executive room. Decor was outdated and found some hair on floor so the room wasnt cleaned thoroughly. Advertisement such as images can be misleading I booked it on the basis of that however I got something completely different. ALSO booking.com says there is car park available however they charge you £10 a night if you leave the spot it can be taken by someone else at any time.

We booked this very much last minute and didn't know what to expect. A pleasant surprise, fantastic service and a really nice room made it a nice experience. We will definitely come back here, it was a great place to stay and in a great location.

We had just finished a 4 hours journey from up north and at reception politely asked if we could use the toilet before checking in. The older guy at reception looked at us like we were not good enough to be in the hotel and told us Public toilets are what we should head for as the hotel toilets are only for guests and we obviously weren't guests. Well maybe if your staff listened they would know that we were about to check in!!! Secondly one of the main reasons we booked here was the car charger which you advertise as available free of charge. Fail to point out tho that you are allowing non EV cars to park in it so it's not been accessible at all. Would not recommend to anyone!

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel for a couples night away. On the positive side, location is good, can park on site (at an additional cost), and staff on the day we were leaving were very politely and helpful. After we raised our concerns with our stay (as detailed below) the staff on the second day gave us a discount which was good of them. On the negative side, room was not clean (dirt on windowsills and dust on most surfaces) and very tired in appearance (pealing wallpaper, holes in walls, holes in curtains), my fiancé ordered Prosecco for our room at an additional cost and the glasses had to be re-washed by ourselves, we were let in late to our room which pushed back our whole schedule and no explanation was given to explain the late room by the gentleman at reception, our room safe did not work, and the gentleman manning the reception on arrival showed everyone else to their room aside from ourselves (we feel that this may have been because we asked why our room was not ready on time). We were advised that the hotel will be refurbished in the coming months and so I would return here until it has had a complete face lift.

This was my third stay at this hotel. It's a great base and a bit quieter than the middle of town with the benefit of the Lovely green open space of the Meadows. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable, the bar is welcoming. I always find it good value. There are a number of great cafes, shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance. I'll no doubt return.

I had a wonderful time staying at the Best Western Hotel. My room was spacious, the bed was comfy and the room was clean. Breakfast was delicious too! Was only a short walk into the city centre and it had a beautiful park opposite the hotel which it was lovely to walk through. Staf were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back to stay here!

This was a great 4 days away with my Family! The hotel is in a great location overlooking a beautiful park a bit out of the centre of Edinburgh so not at all noisy. A 15/20 min walk to the centre. There is parking which is great however not loads of spaces so luck of the draw whether you get a space thankfully we were lucky! The Bedrooms were spacious the decor was lovely. It is very reasonably priced for what was a great stay! Would definitely return to this hotel if I was to visit Edinburgh again. The Staff were very professional and Friendly. Thank You for a lovely Stay!!

Had a lovely stay and hotel in great location. Room a little tired in places but hotel being renovated. Bar area needs some improvement as not very cosy to sit in the evening. Would love to come back in the future.

Left disappointed and frustrated. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a full car park. The website states that the hotel provides 23 parking spaces for guests. However the hotel seems to prioritise workers/contractors over their paying guests, as they had taken up 5 of the spaces in the car park. When we asked about other options for parking we were told to try “around the corner by another hotel” or “on the street outside”, which is completely unacceptable as street parking costs £2.70 PER HOUR. I'm thankful to have a rather expensive sports car therefore the complete lack of understanding from the hotel staff left me feeling frustrated. Eventually I was ushered back into the car park by a rather miserable hotel “manager” having waited on the street for about 20 minutes waiting for a space to come available. This wasn't ideal after a 6 hour drive to Edinburgh. I felt like I couldn't even drive my own car around such a beautiful city due to the worry of returning to no spaces to park in. Completely disappointing. The room itself was decent, with a pleasant view of Arthur's Seat. However the bed was uncomfortable and pillows like saggy rocks. The bathroom was on a slant, door didn't stay shut unless slammed, toilet flush didn't work properly unless you applied a rather unreasonable amount of pressure. The room gets rather hot, make sure your room has a fan. We opted out of having the breakfast as the reviews were poor, and the staff weren't particularly welcoming. We ended up going less than 5 minutes walk down the road to “the treehouse cafe” (recommended! And CHEAPER) Members of staff made no effort to make your stay feel worth the money and we were left feeling like dirt on their shoe. Not what I desire as a paying guest.

Delighted with my first stay at this hotel. It will not be my last. Warm, friendly reception staff and most attentive restaurant service. Cannot praise staff at breakfast enough. Prompt and courteous in serving freshly cooked food at table. My room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. Bruntsfield is a delightful area with a wide range of independent shops and eateries. The Links and Meadows are close by giving access to the Old Town and there is a frequent service of buses to the central area of Princess Street and New Town.

Our stay at the hotel was very comfortable, and pleasant, service was very good, reception staff very helpful, food excellent, could not ask for more, really good value for money. Although not in town centre bus services extremely efficient.

Location opposite green parks is very pleasant, road noise a little high (you need to wrestle with the windows to get them closed). Staff at check-in, restaurant very friendly and chatty. Breakfast quality a bit poor (cheap eggs, sausages). No hot water available in room on morning of departure (8am). Additional cost added to bill that wasn't detailed in confirmation mail from BestWestern - be warned.

We would not be visiting the Hotel again or recommend it due to our experience here. When we went to use the bath we noticed it was quite badly scratched which actually made it look dirty. We spoke to the duty manager at the time who was extremely apologetic and explained it was a known issue and was due to the bath being made of tin. He himself had raised this with his own management but nothing had been done to fix the issue. Unfortunately there was no other family room available but we were offered an alternative room where we could use the bathroom and some money was also taken off the bill. The hotel is apparently going to be refurbished in the next couple of months but we don't believe the room should have been made available to customers until after renovations were complete. Unfortunately we also found the serving staff unwelcoming and at times impatient. Finally, the rooms would benefit from air con though obviously this is only an issue during the summer months.

Spent the weekend here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was amazing, and the team are so attentive and you are never left looking for anything. The breakfast is well worth ordering and a great choice is offered I have absolutely no reservations in recommending this hotel

Checked in, then went out to meet friends and have dinner. On late return we found the toilet wasn't flushing, the mattress was uncomfortable, so we're pillows. No cups or glasses for coffee or water. Noise early morning was loud from general hotel cleaning, garbage truck etc. Room was on front of street.

Spent four nights staying here and the room was very clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and breakfast was enjoyable. Perfect location for exploring the city, a great short stay experience overall

I used to stay at the Bruntsfield regularly. This is my first visit since retirement and it is still the most comfortable and friendly hotel in the City. The rooms are all spacious and comfortable and many are not standard room design and they have a homely feel. This visit was no exception and we were efficiently checked in to a room with a view over the Links. Breakfast is always cooked to order and the staff are happy to cater for all tastes.

Not the best experience. First room we were given we dusty and the bathroom was not very clean. We switched rooms and it was slightly better, but the bathroom was still not very clean, lil moths found on the towels - not ideal. Quite run down and not worth the price in my opinion. Staff were lovely though.

Spent 2 nights and was very pleased with our stay everything was perfect. Unfortunately did not use restaurant so cannot comment on that but think that would be great too. Would definitely stay here again

This was first stop on tour of Scotland and what an excellent choice it was. Staff were excellent and very accommodating from the moment we set foot through the door. As motorcyclists it's nice to know the bike is catered for and this hotel went above and beyond. Down a gated passageway to a rear courtyard (big GS with panniers). Food both at dinner and breakfast were excellent and filling. All the staff both in the restaurant, bar and reception are a credit to the company. Thanks

My mum and I are Bruntsfield locals and before lockdown used to love eating and having a drink in Bisque, their restaurant and bar . I thought I would treat my mum to a post lockdown staycation last night with dinner and breakfast . It was lovely being back and the staff are fantastic, in particular Dougie( barman) and Ian the Manager . I hear the hotel is changing management and do hope they appreciate the amazing staff there that have worked there for years . Thank you for a fantastic stay - we shall be back.

We would like to thank all the hotel staff for helping to make our daughter's wedding an exceptional occasion during what has been a difficult time navigating the restrictions in the pandemic. From our initial contact with Alistair Bruce to working through the fine details with Michael Anthony, the professionalism, attention to detail, care and kindness were exemplary. The ceremony venue, reception venue and hospitality services from all, were fabulous. We also stayed overnight in a beautiful and comfortable room and highly recommend this hotel and staff. Lovely, big room with a very comfortable four-poster bed. Well-appointed bathroom. Excellent breakfast choices - delicious black pudding and haggis. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for the city centre and parks but not noisy.

During a difficult time, the hotel made a memorable wedding day for our son and his bride in an intimate group of just over 30. We were all looked after so well from the moment we arrived. Michael, in particular, was professional in his handling of the day. The food was delicious and the reduced staff were very organised. There was a beer garden that we were able to use with a well run table service in operation. Several of the group stayed overnight and were very pleased with the standard of accommodation and breakfast. The hotel is in a lovely part of Edinburgh overlooking the Bruntsfield Links and a few minutes walk from the city centre.

We stayed as a family of 4 for a funeral and were warmly welcomed for our stay even though the hotel was only open on a very limited basis - with the senior team covering all of the roles. We had a really great room with a super view of the Links and bunk beds for the kids. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and warm. The location is great and we look forward to returning in happier times.

I really like staying at the Bruntsfield Hotel in Edinburgh. This was my second stay and the few staff on duty worked tirelessly to ensure the rooms were safe, to provide excellent room service and deliver a tasty breakfast in the morning. Hat's off for doing everything you can. This hotel has a lovely, cosy feel to it. Not far from the popular Morningside and within walking distance of the city centre. My only (very small gripe) is that it is sometimes tricky to park, especially if the hotel is full and functions are taking place. This time, that wasn't a problem. I will definitely be looking to stay here again.

These are obviously difficult times for the hospitality industry, but everything at this hotel points to a team who are doing all they can for their guests and their hotel. The senior management team are working together to cover all the roles, reception, housekeeping, waiting at breakfast, providing room service, and they are doing a great job. We were warmly welcomed, the room was comfortable and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Parking on site was a real bonus. Well done team!

Staff very courteous, friendly and welcoming. Room very spacious and comfy, with a first class room service. We also included breakfast - this was little slow coming, but this was understandable, given the covid staffing situation at the time. Delicious when it arrived!

2 nights in a 4 poster and it was fantastic. For a small fee you can book in from 11am which makes a difference on such a short Edinburgh break. We thought the breakfast was really good considering all the covid stuff that the staff have to contend with. This is a safe covid hotel and it shows from check in to check out. All the staff were very helpful. We really enjoyed our break and will return again soon. You can park your car at the hotel also. The city centre is a few minutes walk from the hotel

When I arrived the entrance smelt lovely and fresh and had a nice Christmasy feel. The hotel has really reacted well to covid. My room was clean and smelt really fresh and the bed was comfortable. Haven't really got any complaints..only very slight negatives was the water was temperamental as the shower took ages to warm up and then kept going hot and cold. I ordered a sausage sandwich each morning for breakfast which I made clear that I wanted it just on white bread with butter and not toasted but each time I ended up with a toasted sandwich and without butter sometimes but these are just tiny little faults and wouldn't stop me staying here again. The staff were friendly. I liked that the tv controller was in a bag, and so were tea and coffees showing that they were really taking on board covid. Lovely touches with hot chocolate as I don't drink tea or coffee. I would recommend this hotel to anyone,I felt so safe here and it was nice to be in a lovely fresh and clean smelling hotel!!

Great hotel and really attentive and friendly staff, things were a bit strange due to Covid as very few guests but we were really well looked after across the 3 night stay. Hotel just refurbed so really nice lobby and rooms (got a free upgrade due to rewards status many thanks) Really could not fault our stay highly recommended

We only had one night so we upgraded the room which proved to be a good decision. The room was spacious and comfortable with the largest bathroom we've had in an hotel. The bed was very comfortable. We even had two televisions. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The Covid rules were excellent and you could see that they were adhered to and taken seriously. We had dinner in the hotel which was most enjoyable and breakfast the next morning was very good....especially generous with the toast which pleased me. I would rebook for the breakfast alone! We also attended a funeral wake in the hotel which was very well done. Covid rules applied. Extremely well thought out and handled with great understanding and care. The situation of the hotel is excellent...opposite the Links so we had a really nice walk in the morning admiring the autumn colours. If anyone ever asks where they should stay in Edinburgh the Bruntsfield Hotel will be top of my list.

The Bruntsfield Hotel is perfectly situated to allow easy access to all of Edinburgh. We particularly enjoyed being so close to the Meadows allowing for a lovely start in the mornings. Staff were all friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. I have stayed in several hotels in Edinburgh and this is the best of them!

We arrived at the hotel earlier than planned and as we had already checked in online every thing was ready and waiting for us. The hotel have done a good job around the social distancing insisting that face coverings are worn in all communal areas and screens up in the bar areas. We were given room 231, which is located on the 2nd floor. The room was very clean and of a really good size. The bed was really soft and comfortable, which aided a good nights sleep. The bathroom was pretty massive as well. The shower was ok, but the pressure wasn't that great. Our room had a great view of the castle. I would certain look at staying at this hotel next time I am in the area.

I just stayed here one night while visiting the city for a dental appointment. It was my first overnight stay since the start of Covid so didn't know what to expect. From the moment I arrived I felt safe. I got a lovely warm welcome with Andrew. There were screens up at reception and hand gel. In the room (number 6, really beautiful, room at the front of the hotel),lots of covid measures were taken. All sanitized items were sealed in bags and labelled (hand sets etc). Antibac wipes were provided too. The cups were throw away ones, rather than reusable. I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal. Again, everything really well done. People very well spaced out. After guests left, all table/chair etc were thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant. Michael was running the restaurant, he was very friendly and welcoming. The food was good. Obviously because of the situation, there was a limited menu, but the food was good. There was no alcohol served due to the government restrictions, but it didn't matter. Check out (didn't get the lady who served me's name) was lovely. They kept my case for a few hours while I did some shopping. My advice to other travellers thinking of booking this hotel - book it! It is a safe and clean, and beautifully decorated hotel. The staff are wonderful, even though now times are exceptionally hard for hospitality. It is in a great part of city close to the centre.

This is a really nice hotel. It is really nicely situated opposite the Links ( a park area) and on the main street in Bruntsfield with great coffee shops and bars literally minutes walk. The rooms are not ultra modern but very pleasant and spotlessly clean. The lobby and reception and bar have been renovated and are quite stylish. We will definitely stay again.

This hotel is situated in a lovely area of Edinburgh. It is close by to dozens of lovely shops, cafes and restaurants, and we spent a whole day browsing up one side all the way to Morningside and back down the other, stopping for coffee and cakes, a pre-lunch drink and then lunch along the way. The other direction and you are soon amongst the tourist sites. The hotel check in was friendly and quick. Our room was very clean and had all the facilities needed for a 3 night stay. The furniture was slightly dated but that didn't bother us. There was a huge bathroom. A good size TV was wall mounted. We enjoyed our breakfast every day - who can resist a cooked breakfast when you are on holiday ! It was delicious. They are doing a great job given the current limitations on hospitality provisions. The staff were all very friendly. We are returning for another stay soon .

Stayed at the Bruntsfield hotel for business, two night stay and excellent as usual, even during this very difficult time for hospitality the staff were excellent, my accommodation was fully sanitised and the hotel was spotless, parking on the hotel ground close to the city allowed me the flexibility to enjoy an evening walk. Thank you and am looking forward to booking again during my next trip to Edinburgh.

Staff had arranged special locked parking for our motorbikes. Michael and the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to make our two night stay good. Very good location, few bus stops from city centre, free parking. This was our third stay for Christmas Market and definitely will not be the last one. Lovely staff, very tasty breakfast. Nothing to complain about.

This hotel ticks all the right Covid boxes in terms of safety. We stayed Fri & Sat 11th Sept in a 4 poster room with breakfast. Breakfast was really good and had everything you could possibly want all served at your table and cooked fresh. The staff were all helpful and there for you when you needed them. I can't understand some of the negative comments on here from others as in times like these you have to make allowances for some thing such as not having your room cleaned etc.A great old lady of an hotel and we enjoyed or stay throughout. Being able to park your car in Edinburgh at the hotel is also a plus. We will definitely return and felt the price we paid was great value when you take into account that it included our breakfast.

Stayed for two nights whilst we help move our son into a flat for university. We had two executive doubles with breakfast included , which were spacious and clean . Staff polite and helpful, especially when we asked for toilet roll as none in the bathroom on our arrival . Room was quiet, (142),an occasional noise from the corridor , otherwise it was peaceful . Breakfast was average , disappointed with sausages and mushrooms, otherwise the fresh fruit both mornings was lovely . Managed to get parking on both nights too. Overall we enjoyed our stay, will certainly be back as our son stays very near.

Stayed in an executive twin, a large room if rather old fashioned furniture and decor. However it was very quiet at the rear of the hotel, and bathroom looked more recently refurbished than room. Very comfortable beds, nice crisp white bed linen. Door had sticker seal to show no one had been in since it was cleaned. A pity about the hair in the bath. Otherwise very clean. Paper cups provided for tea/coffee and only two supplied even though we were there for two days. Had to ask at reception for more, and for some coffee as only decaffeinated in room. Also had to ask for more milk. We didn't have breakfast and restaurant was not open in evening. Such a shame as all other restaurants in area were very busy. The bar was open but empty, not doubt because everyone staying had to go elsewhere to eat. Should have taken advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out, and many places nearby have extended their offer. Very nice staff, friendly and helpful. I lived in this area many years ago, so this is why I chose the hotel for its location. Walkable to Old Town and Princes Street, although the buses are plentiful and cheap. Lovely cafes and restaurants nearby.

Everything was perfect. The hotel was very clean and spacious and comfortable. Staff were lovely and accommodating. We had breakfast included in our stay which was delicious with plenty of choice. Will definitely stay again next time I visit Edinburgh.

We have just arrived back from a 5-day trip to Edinburgh, staying at the Bruntsfield Best Western Plus. This is a fabulous hotel which, even with the excellently managed constraints of Covid-19, retains its class. Spotlessly clean, attentive and well trained staff and superb hot breakfasts in a welcoming Scottish tradition. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon when you might expect to find a lull, but after parking our hire car in one of the hotel spaces we were shown our room with the minimum of fuss. We decided to take up the offer of an upgrade to a superior room. An understatement as it was actually a suite. 10 foot high curtains, dual aspect, separate dressing room area with desk etc, tasteful furnishings, giant bathroom with double shower and a double bath, smart tv, huge queen-size bed, robes and slippers etc. These are difficult times for hotels and if this excellent level of customer service is conducted during a pandemic, then normal service would allow the hotel even more opportunity to impress. The food is top notch, freshly cooked to order, quality ingredients, served piping hot with a smile. We met Alastair Bruce, the general manager - now there is a professional hotelier if ever we saw one - the staff clearly respect him and he certainly respects them. Big shout out to Angela on the desk and the lively, lovely lady who runs breakfasts. Loved Edinburgh, but equally loved the hotel. 10/10 and thanks to everyone

Having stayed here before we booked the hotel pre-covid to attend an event that was cancelled. We therefore paid top price. Our preference would have been to cancel the booking and reschedule for a longer stay at a later date but the hotel were within their rights not to agree . We therefore went for a short break. The executive room was adequate, and clean but the room was both warm and noisy in the early morning as refuse collection took place outside our window. There was no room service due to Covid, which we accept but it would have been nice to have been informed of this at check in. The hotel wi-fi did not work on the day of our arrival but worked satisfactorily on the subsequent two days Breakfast was poor. We were given the choice of two times. 8 am or 9:30 neither of which would have have been our first choice. From the breakfast menu the fruit bowl and fruit salad turned out to be the same thing. A plastic wrapped dish of prepackaged tasteless essentially tinned fruit. The granola my wife ordered appeared to be crumbled granola bars and was very poor. she could not eat it. Bread / toast was of cheap supermarket quality. Coffee was not very hot. The cooked breakfast was better but my fried egg was over-cooked and the tomato was undercooked. For a hotel of this quality some fresh fruit would have been expected. I have eaten better breakfasts at motorway service stations. For the record we were never asked whether we enjoyed our stay by the receptionist but I have filled in a subsequent marketing questionnaire by the hotel. The hotel location is good but we are unlikely to choose to stay here or any Best Western hotel again

We stayed here recently for three nights. We had a large room which for what we paid was excellent value. Staff on reception were not friendly and not helpful. Had to ask for an additional toilet roll as only half left in the room and it seemed to be an issue to give us another one. Also seemed unwilling to restock tea and coffee for the room. We requested a cot and on arrival was told we could have one as it was wood and not cv complaint. We eventually received one but the chap on reception was difficult and awkward to deal with. I thought the room was clean but decor is tired and needs some attention. Overall ok stay but don't think I would recommend to friends.

Stayed with husband and three grown up children for three nights. First impressions, very friendly staff and covid safe. Rooms were clean, comfy and spacious. One of our rooms was very large with a small off room and a massive bed, bath and separate walk in shower. There is a nice bar open in the evening but not for food, which was fine for us. We had a drink there before heading into the city centre, either a 20 min walk or a short bus ride. The number 11 bus runs every 10 minutes from just outside. Breakfast was very good every day and plentiful for our hungry teenage boys. The chap who served us in the bar in the evening deserves a mention, he was particularly friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend as a base for exploring Edinburgh.

I can't mark down to covid . The hotel was clean and rooms large . The staff were friendly and the hotel is in a nice location with a park opposite. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned and not entered again unless we requested . The only thing I would say is the hotel served a delicious cooked breakfast but the restaurant was not open in the evening so the bar was empty . I think they missed a trick as all the local restaurants were full in a relaxed way

This is a very comfortable and convenient place to stay. Great staff, great breakfast and lovely location. Within walking distance of major attractions and lots of good restaurant options close by. Highly recommend!

A great hotel in an ideal location, close to everything but next to the park so a little quieter. A big selling point is the car park, which costs only £10 for the night. The room was well equipped, comfortable and clean. Cannot fault the staff, who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would really recommend this hotel.

I was absolutely delighted with the service, we got an upgrade on arrival as it was my partners birthday and the staff remembered from my correspondence, the room has huge and spotless. Had a delicious breakfast which set us up for our long journey home. The staff were so nice and were very helpful.

We return here every year, love the location, shops all around and beautiful park straight across from hotel. The Superior suite is worth booking for the extra space, large table and luxuriously comfortable 'Kingsize' + bed. The staff were very accomodationg considering the circumstances which can't be easy at this present time. Breakfast was continental but ample.. Look forward to returning next year!

We were there three nights and had really great stay.Room had big old four poster bed which was very comfortable. Staff low key but just very friendly. Room service excellent and not too expensive. Great experience all round.

This isn't a flashy or boutique hotel- but it's a very attractive and comfortable hotel to stay in. Large rooms, comfortable beds, efficient and friendly staff and well thought out. We had everything we needed. Very reasonable price in a good location. The breakfast was everything you needed with a nice garden view. Minor niggles in the room - but nothing that would prevent me coming again. I definately would book again. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Can't fault the hotel or its staff. The local area is vibrant with great places to eat drink and shop, or it's a twenty minute walk or a short cab ride into the city centre.Great shortbread on reception too.

The location is excellent, the prices are reasonable and breakfast menu is very good, so the hotel definitely has what you need. Especially as the rooms are quiet too. We had a lovely stay and can warmly recommend the hotel to others.

The manegment at this hotel are not very nice. I also advise anyone not to use BOOKING.COM as this caused me a lot of problems with this hotel. Due to my husband having an illness related to a heart condition I was not allowed to make changes to my booking. I lost quite a lot of money and it spoiled my trip to Edinborough. I will not grace the door of this place ever again.

Nicely appointed rooms which include an iHome with two USB ports and a wireless charging port on top. Room was clean and bathroom was well maintained. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Quiet surroundings as the hotel is away from the royal mile, but only a 20 minute walk to get there. Would definitely recommend!

Visited here on a hen party Kiki was our master class host and what a fab job she did!! Getting a sele tion to chose from for your cocktail and the buffet food served afterwards was 1st class plenty to soak up the alcohol after the masterclasses. Will def recommend in the future

Just back from my daughter's wedding at the Bruntsfield Hotel, Edinburgh and if you are looking for a venue don't hesitate to book this one. The hotel is beautiful, the food is delicious, the rooms cosy and comfortable with a choice of pillows, the staff are AMAZING and all at quite an affordable price. I will certainly be visiting again just for the experience at every opportunity.

Bruntsfield Hotel is super convenient for Edinburgh city. Own car park, really clean and decent sized rooms with a superb breakfast. This hotel is so reasonably priced and could be the bargain accommodation of the city, certainly if you are driving and need to park.

Having stayed at this hotel on several occasions we are always drawn back to it for its location, standard of service and comfy rooms. The hotel is great for sightseeing with public transport easily accessible. Definitely recommend!

Stayed here one night in January while working in Edinburgh. I used to live in this part of Edinburgh as a student 40 odd years ago and there was a little snug bar at the side that was our local. It's long gone, but the hotel itself, which I'd never stayed in before, seems to have gone from strength to strength. Nothing not to like about this stay for me. I was given a large room with period features at the front, with a big three part window looking over Bruntsfield Links. The would have been great but unfortunately it was dark all the time I was there. There was another room attached with bunk beds and a second TV, wardrobe and the dreaded trouser press and off it was the en-suite bathroom. This would obviously be great as a family room. The room itself was great, plenty of space for a massive bed, desk and chair and couple of bucket seats and a coffee table. There was also everything you would need including a hairdryer and an ironing board and table in case you don't trust that trouser press... The double glazing and heavy curtains meant there was little traffic noise and I slept reasonably well. Ate in the Bisque bar in the evening and found the service good and the food decent and reasonably priced. There's also plenty of different types of restaurant in the immediate area. Breakfast was also good with the usual buffet and the usual cooked options. No smoked haddock and poached egg which is my personal favourite, but plenty of other choices so can't complain. Staff that I met were all great. For anyone that doesn't know Edinburgh, Bruntsfield is a great area to stay in. It's trendy and elegant and has its own community feel, with great shops, restaurants and pubs and some great open space in the Links and nearby Meadows. It's also great for the city centre with plenty of good bus services, though you can walk to the city centre in maybe about 25 minutes and Haymarket station in about 20. Overall, really enjoyed my short stay and would return without hesitation.

Helpful and patient staff. Arrived without reservation and was given a newly refurbished room at a good price. They also allowed us to keep our car in the car park for the day. Very happy with our stay, would recommend to anyone.

Very comfortable hotel in a quiet and elegant part of the city. Exec Room was large and comfortable, bed was excellent, very good shower. Restaurant food was excellent with very friendly staff and breakfast choice was massive. We thought it was good value for money. Not posh but very comfortable feel to it. Room was very warm so we had to turn the heater off and open the windows to make it more comfortable even in January as it was mild weather. No air con so might be hot in summer so they provide fans. The location is 20 mins walk to the city so not too far and close to the The Meadows park. Bruntsfield Place itself has plenty of restaurants and bars and local shops which was a nice option in the evening. Within 10 mins walk there are bistros, Italian, European, Chinese, Indian restaurants walking away from the city centre.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. Although it is listed as a city centre hotel, it is just slightly outside what I would term as city centre. Parking is a bit tight, and that is about the only down side to this hotel. The staff are great, cleanliness is excellent, the rooms comfortable and well equipped, and the Full Scottish Breakfast is terrific! We stayed in a Superior Room on a bed and breakfast basis, and will obviously consider using the hotel again next time we visit Edinburgh!

We stayed here as a group of 6 friends to celebrate hogmanay. The hotel is around a 20 minute walk from Edinburgh Old Town, and it is a lovely stroll. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We also had a lovely view of the city from our room The bathrooms probably need an upgrade. The shower was an 'in the bath' shower, with the shower head at a fixed point, which meant you have to stand almost on top of the taps to wash. The water temperature was very erratic and frequently went from boiling hot to freezing cold. The room could have benefitted from a mini bar and room service Breakfast wasn't included but we did eat once at the hotel and it was perfectly adequate. Not sure if I would recommend this hotel or return. Although we did have an excellent time in Edinburgh celebrating hogmanay.

Stayed at this hotel many times as my daughter is at Edinburgh University and always found it good and a handy location for me We booked a 2 night stay for New Year and even with a free upgrade I thought it was expensive, although everywhere in Edinburgh is expensive for new years eve

Dirty bedding, broken radiator & broken toilet seat! Was told by assistant manager the manager would compensate. Never heard anything again? Told receptionist when we left were asked to leave email and number and still never heard anything. We were really looking forward to staying here and were let down. Not even an apology.

Very pleasent stay to an affordable prize. I stayed for two days and everything was perfect. In the evening I ate delicious food in the basement lounge where I also could use an excellent WIFI connection.

My wife and I stayed at the Bruntsfield Hotel for a 3 night break just before Christmas. I had stayed at this hotel previously when travelling on business, but it was my first trip with my wife to Edinburgh. The room, the service and the location of the hotel was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We would definitely consider staying at the Bruntsfield Hotel again if we came to Edinburgh in the future.

My room was very large but outdated. The windows are not double glazed so if you are facing the street, you can hear the traffic until wee hours of the night and also starting very early in the morning. Breakfast was the highlight of my stay.

From arrival to departure the staff were extremely helpful. The parking facilities are excellent and part of the deal , which is a great saving in Edinburgh.I regularly get upgraded and the freshly cooked breakfast in the morning is always a treat.

We only visited for one night. The room was clean and well kept. We didn't spend much time in the room but can say the staff are really friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located for exploring the city.

Very disappointed with the vegetarian option. Prawn cocktail served in a knickerbocker glory glass so sauce all at bottom. Veggie Wellington looked liked a steak bake from Greggs smeared in mint sauce and couldnt cut it!! Orange n chocolate mouse was like eating the skin of an orange very bitter Like last year I had to ask twice if they were serving tea and colleague had to ask them to bring out the mince pies, half an hour after tea and coffee was served. Disappointed as we were there last year and it was okay Ps. Are your bar staff asked to ask if you want doubles every-time you venture to the bar?

Second visit in a month after having a less than perfect stay last time, i was however willing to give a second chance as previous visits have been fine. Big mistake. Currently sitting here at midnight unable to sleep due to function directly below me, not a single word of warning from reception staff on booking in, had i been given warning i would have asked for room change, had this not been an option then i would have simply moved hotels. I appreciate that hotels generate large income in festive season but it appears this overides the need to give paying guests a good nights sleep which is the reason i am in a hotel room. General Manager indicated that he would seek me out on this visit to discuss problems from last visit, not a sight of him. I spend large ammounts of hard earned money staying in Best Western, no longer. Makes a mockery of awarding Diamond Select as a valued customer. I would point out that young barman was a pleasure to deal with.

Though we've visited Edinburgh many times Over the years my husband and i had never Been to the Bruntsfield area before.The best western Bruntsfield was recommended by my son and we Were not disappointed.The hotel has a pleasant exterior And the lobby is smart and welcoming We found the staff Very pleasant and helpful too.Our room was spacious And smart ,and on the ground floor which was appreciated as My husband has poor mobility.We took a taxi into the city But it is only a 15 minute walk for the able bodied We also explored the bruntsfield and Morningside areas Which have some lovely independent shops.All in all A very pleasant trip .Highly recommended

Often passed on frequent Edinburgh visits but treated ourselves to 3 nights. Only chose breakfast on final morning. Big mistake! Great value at £10pp. Lovely tastefully decorated spacious room. Wide range of food. Piping hot coffee, fresh bread from the oven and best haggis tasted to date. Service very friendly and the lady i/c, without prompting, brought over the toast when the first batch was exhausted. Our standard room was also spacious. Good range of toiletries. Very quiet despite overlooking road by The Meadows and extremely comfortable mattress. A defective table lamp was speedily replaced and the large tv and comfortable chairs allow full relaxation. Also a bath. All staff both friendly and very helpful. On deals this hotel is great value

Very good location, few bus stops from city centre, free parking. This was our third stay for Christmas Market and definitely will not be the last one. Lovely staff, very tasty breakfast. Nothing to complain about.

We arrived on Tuesday 19th November to a full car park and nowhere to park. We went and asked at reception and were told that just outside the hotel we could park for free from 6.30pm - 8.00am the next day, which was great for us. Check in for both of us was simple and within a few minutes were in our rooms. We ventured into the city centre in the evening and to the xmas markets, which took us about 15 minutes and was a nice easy stroll. The rooms were large, had tea/coffee facilities, safe, toiletries, tv and plenty of towels. Bed was comfortable and slept well til 4am when I was woken by traffic noise (was at the front of the hotel). We had breakfast, which was cooked to order and helped ourselves to the continental selection. Good quality cooked breakfast, which wasn't too over facing and set us up for the morning. Check out only took a minute, professional and friendly staff and as it was just starting to come light, had a lovely view over the park.

Good modern room on first floor, everything in room that was needed. Good quality food as well, nice bar downstairs. Quick check in and out, car park small but managed to find a space so happy, buses on doorstep and taxi easy to get outside main door. Would return

Stayed for three nights in November and loved the hotel. All of the staff members whom we dealt with were friendly and helpful especially the lady who was on the reception desk (I didn't catch her name). We had arrived early, before our room was ready (room 213) however she took all our details, issued me with the carpark permit - yes we managed to get a space - and we went for a coffee whilst we waited on the room being serviced. The room was big and spacious and we had no complaints. Bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. One thing that other hotels could learn from here is - a free safe !!! Most hotels charge extra for an “in room safe” but this one was included as part of the tariff. We stayed bed and breakfast but didn't try the restaurant in the evening, maybe next time. Breakfast was plentiful and well presented with the hot breakfast “cooked to order” and brought to the table. Delicious !!! Approximately 20 minutes walk took you to the foot of Princess Street so the hotel is not too far away from the biz. On one occasion we came back through the parks - I bet it's lovely in the summer. Whilst in town we saw the Christmas lights being switched on (with Santa's sleigh high above the crowds) and also the opening of the Christmas markets. Looking forward to returning sometime in the future !!!!

Great hotel, slightly out of the centre but we quite like that. Lovely staff, great bar & breakfast is excellent. Car park is small & tight but we've always found a space. We were delayed leaving this year as we found ourselves blocked in & had to wait for the culprit to return to move his truck. Also, we had no hot water one morning as one of the boilers failed, it was fixed within a couple of hours so only a slight inconvenience

We visited this hotel for a short stay in Edinburgh. This hotel was attractive as it said free parking. On arrival at 11.30am we discovered there were about 20 spaces which were all full so had to park in a multi story which was half a mile away which was disapointing. The staff were very polite and helpful and the hotel overall appeared clean and well kept. Our room was rather dated but was large and had a great view of the castle. I would concider this hotel again but may look for one a little closer to the centre without a car park as we couldnt park near the hotel anyway.

I've stayed in a number of hotels in Edinburgh, including a couple of 5 star properties. While the Bruntsfield is not a 5 star hotel – no turndown service, no chocolates on the pillows, no concierge on duty, etc. – I found this hotel to be a very attractive property. The rooms were large and modern and the bathrooms were completely up-to-date with contemporary plumbing. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location, while not in the city center, is in convenient walking distance of Princes Street, with many local merchants on the streets nearby. On my last night I had dinner at the hotel and found the food to be surprisingly good, at a very reasonable price. All in all, I enjoyed my stay at the Bruntsfield and will stay there on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Stayed for 3nights for my daughters graduation at the cutlers hall, which was a 10 min walk away. Rooms clean and warm, even though no heating apparent. Bathroom and shower ok, although the bath had a fair bit of flex in it when having a shower.All in all a pleasant stay, breakfast was excellent and the selection was good. Would stay again, well placed for walking distance to the attractions.

A very welcoming,friendly and efficiently run hotel , situated just outside the town centre ,plenty of buses run from outside the hotel if you don't fancy the love!y 15 min walk through the park . Will most definitely stay again when visiting Edinburgh.

We stayed for one week in October 2019 and give a strong recommendation for these reasons: 1)Location - quieter than the castle area yet quick to get there by convenient bus or walk, also preferred the large park across the street 2)Building- very nice room with space and excellent bathroom layout, comfortable king bed 3)People- spoke with the front desk times for good tourist ideas, very helpful, and arranged for cab to return back to airport at 3AM. Remember if paying with any cash you need to do it the night before, and NO issues paying with credit card any time. We knew the process so worked great. 4)Excellent restaurant as we paid a fair price for breakfast inclusion and it was excellent with made to order and buffet. We also ate dinner there twice- best salmon I have likely had in my life based on the prep and side dishes, so thats why we ate there multiple times. Staff was very good with help and proper courtesy- very easy to talk with and the general manager even made the time to talk with us and was cordial and professional. A final comment on location- using the bus or a longer walk it was easy to get to the train station for two day trips and Highland bus tour area. Would recommend returning again this hotel- the taxi ride to and from the airport were reasonable time and again we liked not being in the very busiest area of the city

Just back from 2 night stay. Got a lovely room for a very reasonable price with breakfast. Very quiet at night, slept really well. Room was great, very clean with everything you could need. Staff from reception through to resteraunt are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection. Could not fault this place, we will go back!

We spent 4 nights at this fabulous hotel for a winter break and to celebrate my wife's birthday. From our arrival to checking out our stay was perfect. All the staff were friendly and our room was immaculate. The personal touch was greatly appreciated with a birthday card for my wife. We had breakfast every morning which was perfectly cooked. We also had dinner on two nights which was delicious. A nice walk into the city across the park with the autumn colours still evident took between 20 -25 minutes. Edinburgh is such a beautiful city which we have only started to explore. When we return we will certainly love to stay here again.

The hotel is in a very leafy part of Edinburgh, very scenic and across the road from the park. The car park is very cramped and the spaces are small, so just be warned. We were lucky on arrival and managed to grab the last parking spot, so it could be an issue for some? I had booked an Executive Double for a wee treat and the first room we were offered 335, we had to refuse as it smelt terribly of damp, with black mould growing round the window frame. This room should never have been offered to guests, hopefully it has now been rectified and cleaned. They had left the window open in an attempt to get rid of the smell, all to no avail. It was very shabby round the edges, dirty wallpaper and had a very tatty, worn out sofa in the room, that had seen much better days. I immediately went to reception to ask that we moved rooms. The young man on reception was very obliging, he never moaned, just found us another Executive Double to move to. It was so much fresher and cleaner, room no. 35. Breakfast was very good indeed. You have a help yourself selection and you can also pick from a long list of items from the menu, where your breakfast is cooked to order. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and attentive. Good to be a Best Western member as you get a small discount. It is about a 20 mins stroll into the city centre.

I booked this hotel for my mums 80th birthday, from the first phone call to check if they had a room which would suit my mums mobility needs, to the fantastic breakfast -including options for gluten free and vegan, the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The room was spacious and spotless, with a huge bathroom. We both slept really well, the breakfast buffet and hot options were extensive and would suit every need. We were able to leave our bags following checkout, until we needed to collect them before our train departed. I can't praise the staff highly enough, the reception staff in particular were friendly, professional and went out of their way to make us feel special. All in all it was a wonderful birthday experience for my mum, and we can't wait to return!

The hotel room and bathroom was a good size. Comfortable surroundings. Nice restaurant and lounge area. Please garden to look out on. Food, including breakfast cooked to order. The staff were particularly attentive. Even helped us with our sat vav for the car. Nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent hotel in a good but quit area of edinburgh city across from a green area / park within walking distance of city and theatre area close by. Staff are great and are most helpful and willing to help with any problems or questions you have about hotel or city attractions or shopping. Hotel nice and clean bedrooms are well maintained, had bar food and breakfast which was good had no complaints about it. Overall a great hotel and will go back again next time i visit edinburgh

An overall pleasant stay here for our trip from London to Edinburgh. We were here for 2 nights and were satisfied with the stay. The location is about a 20/30 minute walk or so from the royal mile, depending on which route you take. This meant you were far enough away from the hustle and bustle but if you're not an avid walker, maybe a closer location or public transport is for you. Parking is advertised as available but limited. It is very limited. We couldn't find a space on arrival so needed to park down a side road for our stay. We were told to move our car to a space as soon as one became available, but one didn't. The staff were all very friendly, accommodating and helpful. It was very refreshing and welcoming for us “first timers” The breakfast was nice on both mornings. A lovely menu to select hot food from to order and then a buffet style for cold items. A good selection for both and some quintessentially Scottish items available. The hotel at booking double charged me by mistake which was an expensive blip but they reimbursed me for this and we did get an upgrade to a larger room when I asked for some sort of gesture for the inconvenience. The room was pleasant, traditional, albeit slightly on the tired side which didn't feel like the rest of the hotel. But that was fine. It had a large bathroom and the shower was very good. And all the amenities as expected. It was a very very warm room I must say, I turned the heater off and opened the window for our whole visit, we even slept with the fan on which we weren't expecting in November Edinburgh. It wasn't unbearably hot but if you feel the cold and like to be warm this one is for you! We had quite a nice distant view of the castle. The bed was huge and the mattress comfortable. The pillows weren't our cup of tea but that was personal choice. There were a couple more in the wardrobe but they were more of the same. In the night I thought I could hear someone in our bathroom which turned out to be upstairs. So that was surprisingly loud, and the door onto the corridor didn't do much for soundproofing as we heard many comings and goings in the night. Overall we had a pleasant day, and it was what we needed for a short break in the city. Just a couple of minor bits that could've been improved.

The location is excellent, with a fifteen minute walk to the city centre. The hotel also provided parking, which was easily accessible. I arrived early, but was allowed to check in and leave my car in the car park anyway. The room was nice enough, with good internet and comfortable beds. However, something must be done about the doors into the neighbouring rooms. Even though my neighbours weren't particularly loud, noise travelled freely into my room. I had an early flight and the noise made it difficult to sleep. The breakfast was very nice, with a wide spread of options ranging from a full Scottish to coffee and croissants. Everything was well prepared. The staff were all friendly and accommodating.

From the moment we arrived at reception the welcome we received was warm and friendly and very helpfull, this carried on for the durantion of our stay from each member of staff we met they are a credit to the hotel,the lounge bar staff were very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the city and its attractions and all it has to offer we ate in the restaurant and the menu had a great selection we stayed B&B rate which gave us the flexibility to eat in the hotel or out and about in the city great base to explore from

We stayed overnight as there was a good 'winter' deal which included breakfast. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable with lovely ensuite bath and the breakfast was very good indeed, well served, no long waiting, yet neither did we feel rushed. A wonderful choice, well laid out in a very pleasantly situated restaurant. Certainly the best hotel experience we've had in Edinburgh, and as good as any that we've had anywhere. We've no idea what other amenities are offered by the hotel as we just had an overnight stay, but for our purpose, visiting friends in Edinburgh it was ideal. Although I've described it as a budget hotel, that simply reflects the price we paid. The accommodation, service and food was as good or better than many much more expensive places that we've stayed in.

Stayed for 2 nights 22nd of october. Check in was courteous and so helpful. The room was clean very spacious and bed was real comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and had anything you wanted. We explored Edinburgh on the Wednesday and had a brilliant day cramming lots of sightseeing in ie. Castle, gallery, museum and many others. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and the meal was delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were so kind and helpfull will definately be returning.

The hotel was conveniently located, the staff was super nice. We got an upgrade to the bigger room, which was huge. The onsite restaurant was excellent. We enjoyed the food and drinks. Overall, highly recommended.

Hotel located in a quiet neighbourhood, but at a walking distance to major attractions. Straightforward check-in and no hassles with our reservation. Our room, 202, was OK, clean and cozy, but certainly in need of renovations. The floor is uneven and very creaky, the carpet needs reno as well. Bathroom was clean, but it also has a creaky floor. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. The area has some good restaurants, taxis were readily available when we needed them. Public transport was apparently available, but we didn't use any, since we preferred to walk. Breakfast was of good quality and plentiful; reasonably priced, too. We recommend this hotel.

I travel away in business a lot and this is one of my absolute favourites. Firstly it has free parking which is unusual in Edinburgh. The reception area is bright , welcoming and the reception staff very welcoming. The rooms are comfortable with some nice little touches throughout. The restaurant serves some lovely dishes , personally I can't get enough of the chicken and haggis dish ! Location is perfect just 10 minutes walk downhill to the tourist part of this city . Can't wait to stay again in December!

Usually stay at BW in Edinburgh but this was first time at Bruntsfield Overall impressions were favourable - as its an old style Edinburgh terrace rooms are large and have high ceilings and are exceptionally clean and well appointed although I would question the need to have all windows wide open on an autumnal afternoon in Edinburgh - room VERY cold on arrival and heating system incomprehensible (although made it work) Also ate dinner in the hotel and food was excellent and served with genuine warmth and a smile. Decent menu I opted for steak pie although it was really stew with a tiny piece of pastry thrown on top prior to serving which is not ideal, but everythiny tasted good What let the hotel down (and why I rated it as average rather than very good) was the breakfast service. I was there early and only 3 tables were occupied and there appeared to be 3 staff, 1 of whom skulked in the corridor, the other 2 too busy chatting to each other to worry about diners After 20 mins no one took my order so I returned to entrance and asked if they could possibly interrupt their important conversations to take my order and was met with rudeness and couldn't care less attitude And if you want tea, rather than coffee, you can get a t bag at the coffee station but no hot water - this has to be ordered. Waiter told me to help myself to cold water and seemed surprised that for tea I wanted it hot! Very disappointing and absolutely let the hotel down (I did advise duty manager of this experience) I hope it's not typical as generally hotel is of high standard and is in great location

Loved staying in this hotel. Room was huge and well appointed, with a very comfy bed. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Bar and Restaurant facilities availability. Slightly located out of the main tourist area but still within walking distance to all popular locations. Would most definitely recommend this hotel

I always enjoy staying at this hotel with its great rooms and wonderful breakfast as well as position close to the meadows and a short walk to the town centre. The staff are always welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. I also love the fact that each room is unique.

We stayed for two nights and wondered why we had ever stayed anywhere else on prior trips. My room was fabulous! I had a superior room, super spacious with a comfortable bed and awesome beekind bathroom products. The deputy manager, Ian, treated us so well. We hung out in the bar both nights after one day of walking the city and another after a long day trip. Ian is fascinating and shared some stories with us, Dougie, the bartender, gave my brother in law a lesson on Scottish whisky and Jenny did the front desk staff proud and was a joy to deal with. Both days we had breakfast which was just right! We did have a casual dinner one night which was very good as well. Next time I visit, will for sure stay here again. You can get to the Royal Mile in no time by foot as well as hop a bus close by if you prefer and the staff goes above and beyond. Thanks for a great time!

Great first impressions on arrival; Professional, courteous, and helpful staff. Clean and spacious room with very comfortable bed, and high-quality room and bathroom provisions. Wi-fi availability with good reception beyond the hotel including the bus stop 5 minutes away. Located conveniently for easy access to the city. I would stay here again.

We stayed for one night during a driving holiday, lovely traditional hotel, great first impressions on arrival, very helpful and friendly staff. We had booked a Superior Room , our room was very spacious, although very old fashioned, the shower was great though and the room was very clean.

This hotel was absolutely brilliant, the staff were so helpful and went out of their way to make our weekend a memorable one. From the minute we stepped inside the door we were made welcome. We were over from Ireland for a Family Wedding and it is a great venue for a wedding..the food and service were excellent.. would definitely visit again.

I booked the Bruntsfield for my octogenarian dad and I knew from meeting the great reception team that he would be in wonderful hands. Every need was catered for, from lower floor hotel room, high quality beds, to a delicious breakfast. This was dad's first overnight stay in Edinburgh and it couldn't have been a better one. Thank you, Bruntsfield Hotel, for demonstrating the best of Scottish hospitality!

Great hotel. Very comfortable room (we had a complimentary upgrade). Multiple tasty dishes on the menu with everything from pub food to more fancy mains. Super-friendly staff at the front desk and in the bar/restaurant area. Only complaint was the wifi was very inconsistent/slow.

Stayed here last night. Parking good but tight. Only 25 spaces so get here early. Bed extremely comfortable. Slept well. Disappointed in the room though. We have a family room which I got for same price as the double room. No character in the room,not very well decorated. Bit boring Think some rooms have been refurbished but not ours. Breakfast was a good price at check in,only £10 Wouldn't rush back.

I stayed here for 3 nights. Part of a business meeting conference. Room are nice and tidy. Nothing too fancy though. Comfortable and clean. The bar is a bit hard to find downstairs, but a good range of nice beers. Choices for the breakfast buffet are limited. Very friendly staff.

toilet was not flushed when I arrived. Suspicious brown stain near toilet roll holder. unidentifiable marks on the sheet. Front of desk staff were disinterested in my complaints. Due to repair works I was moved to another room- I had to wait till 3pm to go into my room, despite being a current guest. They forgot to make up the room so I was then moved to another room!. This room was above the awning which had giant spot lights- hence the room was flood lit most of the night with only a flimsy roman blind at the window. This was like a carry-on film. DO NOT use this hotel. Right now staying at the Black Ivy hotel down the road and it is a DELIGHT

I booked a dining room (Cardoon Suite) at the Bruntsfield for a celebratory evening, starting with drinks and then a three-course meal. The arrangements beforehand were handled very efficiently, including detailed discussions about exactly what was required. On the night, the service was first-rate, with a full complement of staff on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent, with guests making many enthusiastic comments. There was even praise for the house wine. All in all, a top quality service.

We've stayed at this wonderful hotel three times in the past eight years. While it's an older, charming building, it is well-maintained and modern. Check-in was quite pleasant, helpful, and efficient. Part of the charm of this hotel is the unique placement of rooms and hallways. Not your standard straight hallways, but some twists and turns which only add to the wonderful atmosphere. We had a suite with a few different rooms and loved it! The bedroom portion of the suite was very large and roomy. Bed very comfortable! Desk area and additional chairs, too. The bathroom was huge, almost as big as some hotel rooms we've stayed in. When you first walk in, your eyes are drawn to the beautiful, large standing tub in the middle of the floor. There was also a large counter area with double sinks, and wood shelves for storage of personal items on both sides. There was an additional small, separate toilet/shower room with a frosted glass door on the shower for privacy. The room also had a walk-in closet area with more shelving, plus a beverage area at one end that had tea and hot chocolate supplies. A full-length mirror was also on the wall. We ate dinner at the restaurant and also had the buffet breakfast the following morning. Excellent food and great service! We had a car with us, and there is parking available. The spots are tight and can be difficult to maneuver into. The lot isn't plentiful with availability, so if you do manage to get a spot, it is best to leave your car there and just walk into the historic center for touring (perhaps 20-25 min walk, not bad at all). We were delighted to find that this hotel has maintained its quality of service over the years and it's a place we intend to return to when we visit Scotland again.

Great location for exploring Edinburgh! We walked everywhere from here! Hotel was very comfortable, and friendly staff. Minor drawback as there was not an outlet for the hair dryer in the bathroom, but rooms were nice and comfy.

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Edinburgh and whislt it is a 20-25 min walk away from the centre we used the regular local buses that took us into the centre. Good Room, Good Food and friendly staff - very happy with everything and would recommend

We have stayed here before and were always fond of this old hotel - which did have the usual old hotel issues! However, location is fantastic with the city centre walkable. We are very impressed with the refurbishment - bringing the old lady up to date but without removing the charm. The room we stayed in was excellent , general hotel ambience lovely and staff very helpfull. Well done to the team with the hotel now punching well above its weight.

We spent a four day holiday during The Edinburgh Festival at The Bruntsfield Hotel, where once again we enjoyed a wonderful welcome and attention from the staff during our stay. It was my wife's birthday, during our visit and a surprise tray of fruit and chocolates was sent to our room, which was a very thoughtful touch. The bedroom we were allocated had been recently tastefully modernised with comfort, cleanliness and security to the usual Bruntsfield high standard. The reception staff went out of their way to be cheerful and helpful (Alistair, The Manager, assisted us - 75+ year olds - by taking our luggage to our room). The breakfast was of the usual high standard, offering a wide ranging choice of food and beverages. Most evenings, we had dinner in the restaurant, or bar and thoroughly enjoyed the selection of meals available, served by very happy, friendly and helpful waiters and waitresses. All in all, The Bruntsfield is a wonderful hotel to choose for a stay in Edinburgh. It is a twenty minute walk to the city centre, but there is also the option of a regular bus service from very close to the hotel.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The room was spacious and charming. The staff members were all most helpful, friendly, and professional. The breakfast featured a huge selection and was terrific.

We've stayed a few times here over the years and returned this week after a couple of years since our previous stay. The location is great, it's always had a parking space free, which is really handy and we always have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. On this visit, we booked a superior double (room 124, street facing), which was huge. It had a separate seating area (albeit without a TV), good sized bedroom area (with a very comfortable bed) also with seating and a very large bathroom with bath, separate shower (which was a little noisy in operation), double sinks and plenty of storage space for toiletries, which saved the usual balancing the contents of our wash bags delicately around a sink. For us, space is luxury so we were happy to trade having this size of room with it's decor being a little bit dated compared with some of the more recently modernised rooms shown on the website. We've eaten and enjoyed dinner at the hotel before so this time we ate out nearby and only had breakfast in the restaurant. It has a contemporary feel and overlooks a nice garden area. Our cooked breakfast order had a couple of things that slightly disappointed (an undercooked 'peelly wally' potato scone and an overcooked fried egg) but was otherwise good. In contrast with many hotels, there was a very good and extensive continental selection, possibly the best we've seen in the last year. Also, if you book breakfast at the time of booking your room, it's very good value overall. Finally, the staff were as lovely and friendly as always. Nothing was a bother and you rightly felt like you were talking to human beings with common sense rather than robots that treat you like a number. We don't come to Edinburgh often but for lots of reasons The Bruntsfield will always be a strong contender when we do.

We've stayed here for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. We were very happy. The Hotel is modern and clean, Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast has been good. You can order your hot breakfast freshly done for you. You walk about 30 minutes to the castle which is ok and we felt safe to do so. We were told there are busses running as well if you prefer. I can recommend this hotel very much.

One of the many corporate hotels our firm uses in Edinburgh. Large room with separate area with double seared lounge and table. Very comfortable king sized bed. Bath tub in bathroom. Clean. My room had large windows overlooking the street. There is no air-conditioning so in summer you'd need to open these to get cool air. Restaurant in basement. Safe in room. I think this room would be fine for private travel but not ideal for business. No bottled water supplied although you can purchase it from the bar downstairs. For business travel, I am looking for an air-conditioned room and water supplied. Free wi-fi. Very friendly service.

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of the Fringe festival. The hotel is fine, good comfy bed, great breakfast that kept us happy till late afternoon. Staff at reception were friendly and knew where we could go and find what we were looking for. Close to bus stops and places to eat. Nice central hotel.

We arrived early to check on our rooms as we would be checking in late. All paperwork sorted quickly and rooms as arranged on the phone. The receptionist was helpful. The parking is very limited and difficult. On Sunday you can park outside on the road. There is no parking for the disabled. On arriving back later, we accessed via the bar which has level access. We tried to order a drink. It seemed the info saying the bar opened to late was not true. With bar closing at 10.30 even to residents. We eventually did get a drink and our room keys. We booked one access for mobility impaired. It was spacious, comfortable and the bath was accessible. The shower had no support (seems easy to have added). This was made clear when I booked. My room was next door and also comfortable. Everything worked in rooms. The decoration was dated but good rooms. The breakfast is downstairs in a lovely room. Accessible by lift. The breakfast bar was very well stocked with great fruits, cheeses, hams, cereals, breads. The cooked breakfast was lovely and service was great.

We only had an overnight stop here but would happily have stayed longer. The hotel is really well situated opposite a park and not far from the main town centre, perhaps a 15/20 minute walk. It's an impressive building and although we had worried about parking we didn't have any problems. All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming, and helpful with questions about the area. We were given a room upgrade and it was very pleasant. We only had a small window but with a great view of the castle. It was clean and comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel which we both enjoyed, and there are several vegan/vegetarian options. It was hard to choose. Breakfast in the conservatory was also really pleasant with excellent choices. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would certainly recommend.

I was happy to find this Best Western. It is on two bus lines and was a good launching point for other areas of the city. Other bus lines are just a few blocks away including one to and from the airport. The neighborhood around the hotel has plenty of good restaurants and pubs including the historic Brennaman's. The area known as Tollcross is just about a 10 minute walk and is loaded with other options and a theater venue which I attended a performance during the Fringe Festival. The breakfast could be added for 10Euro, but after one morning I realized that better fare was just a block or two away and ate at other establishments. The food at the hotel was mediocre. I did not go during the evening meal. I would stay at this BW again. Very reasonably priced.

Loved our stay here. Beautiful room with original features but modern decor. Superb bathroom. Staff on reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly, appearing unflustered even though very busy at times. Excellent afternoon tea. Highly recommended and we will certainly use again on future visits to Edinburgh.

Very friendly helpful staff. Fantastic breakfast! and pleasant front of house surroundings. Housekeeping could be improved-cleanliness in bathroom wasn't great, sheets didn't seem to fit the bed and accommodation is in need of a refurbish. It's a shame as this lets the rest of it down. Ordered a taxi to station via reception and it was very costly compared to others we had taken

- there is limited parking and the spaces are tight. - it is quite a walk into the old town - about 40 mins. - the bathroom was very impressive! - the room was incredibly clean (and I am very picky!) The room is cleaner than most 5* hotels I've stayed in. - the bed was too hard and the pillows to full for me (but this is personal taste and might suit most people - I did not ask if there was a pillow menu, but I would ask next time) - the breakfast is amazing - the staff are brilliant! Very warm, welcoming and efficient. Overall, I am impressed how clean and comfortable I feel here, despite the bed. I would definitely consider staying here and in a Best Western again. Well worth the money for me.

Just arrrived today from London for a 6 nights stay. The room is small with outdated furniture, floor not even, carpet is dirty, shower curtain smells like hell, no mini bar, no water, no nothing. Apparently it is a non smoking room but It was probably no too long ago because it is not smelling good. I asked to change room as it was now at all what was expected. Reserved with Expedia, they told me that they will look at my demand tomorrow for a room change as they were totally booked for the night. Other than the room and the facilities I must say that so far the staff has been polite and very nice with me ... As for the location I could not speak abou it as I will experience it most probably tomorrow... more to come

The Bruntsfield Hotel is easy walking distance to Edinburgh's sights and activities. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is an affordable place to begin your exploration of this incredible city. Enjoy!

Great hotel with free parking, massive bonus for those that know Edinburgh parking prices. We were given a free upgrade also. Comfortable large bed, clean bedroom and bathroom and friendly staff. 15 min walk to town but frequent buses. Plenty of boutique ships locally. Lovely place

This hotel is situated in a lovely location opposite a park and within a twenty minute pleasant walk of the city centre. Also very near a bus route. The hotel itself is clean and spacious . Our room was a good size but very hot , this was not helped by the duvet being of winter weight. Two fans were provided which helped but the building does seem to retain the heat. The hot room was our only complaint. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very efficient and friendly. It was also good to see a manager in evidence as so many hotels are chaotic with no one in charge. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh and hope to visit again one day but perhaps not when there is a heatwave!

The hotel is well located, nice walk through the park area to central Edinburgh. Friendly helpful reception staff. Good breakfast. The restaurant is downstairs, in the basement area with restricted views, but so many other places to eat in Edinburgh. Our room was okay, but it had a fairly small window and we visited in a hot period. Hotel parking is very restricted, so get there early.

Free parking (limited spaces though), spacious common areas, huge bedroom, good facilities, and nice and quiet. Only 25 mins or so on foot to town or a quick bus ride. Wifi worked perfectly and breakfast the next morning was well stocked and had something for all. Check in and check out were efficient and cheery. All in all, good value and very recommended.

A lovely part of Edinburgh to stay away from the busy city yet very accessible to key places of interest by bus or walking. Very helpful staff; room was comfortable but no robes or fridge was unfortunate. No aircon but the fan provided was helpful. Close to cafes, restaurants, shops and supermarket. We ate at the restaurant - service and food were good.

The hotel is quite well positioned and is close to the city centre with eating options nearby. It is on the main bus route and transport is easy. We had a nice room with a four poster bed in it but there was no air conditioning - we could open the windows though. The duvet was too hot to use and we had to remove the inner and use the duvet cover as a top sheet. The reception area is small and there is no tour desk or concierge as such - the receptionist helps out with anything you might want to know. We ate one dinner at the hotel's restaurant but it wasn't anything startling - I have had several fish & chip meals while in England and Scotland and this was the least impressive one. It was a wet night so stayed in, it is OK and does the job. The bar had a nice selection of beers and whisky's. We ate at a nearby Thai restaurant the other night and that was good. Would recommend staying here but maybe dine elsewhere depending on your requirements.

Excellent hotel at walking distance of Edinburgh centre. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, free parking space, spacious and very clean rooms, fast Internet, located in a nice area with lots of restaurants nearby.

Comfortable beds, nice staff, clean. We enjoyed our stay here and would book here again. Safe for walking and many restaurants and shops in the area and lovely park across the street. My only complaint was there is essentially no business center to print boarding passes.

Stayed for 2 nights for my birthday celebrations we had the 4 poster bed luxury room which was very spacious. Room was clean, breakfast fab inc vegetarian options, close to city centre in nice location

Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Attended here for a private party. Meal was great and staff kept everyone right with when to proceed to the buffet to collect their meal. DJ was also great which turned the occasion into a great night out

I stayed here and thought it to be a wonderful value: highly affordable; wonderfully located just enough past old town to avoid the crush of tourists and cheap shops, but close enough to walk there; excellent breakfast; lovely rooms. I've stayed there twice and you can't go wrong. One of the highlights is its staff: they're all great, but Jenny went out of her way for us. Across from a lovely park and within walking distance of great restaurants, pubs, and stores.

Well, staying here is helping us get over being sad at leaving Scotland. At least we'll return to our home, where it's clean and everything works. The bathroom smells unclean, the front desk explicitly told us my email address was for WiFi access and not SPAM (I should have known better when they handwrote the WiFi code out... and I did immediately receive SPAM from BW!) The front desk also gave me attitude when I asked for the WiFi password after my husband had (because neither of us could read what they had written down). And the room safe doesn't work. Even after they came up and “fixed” it. It apparently works once... and then you can't use it again until they “fix” it.

Had the pleasure of staying in the Bruntsfield over the weekend as part of a wedding celebration. The facilities, room and staff were exceptional. Breakfast was excellent and could not be faulted. Really enjoyed our weekend with family and friends and a big thank you to all at the hotel.

Just across the street from the Meadows park. About a mile away from Holyrood Park. We walked from the hotel to Holyrood. Stopped by the Palace. Then down the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle. It made for a great day. The hotel is clean. The staff is wonderful: quick to recommend a nice restaurant or activity. Great overall. CONS: 1) I picked this hotel partly for free parking. But they have ~20 spaces total. First come, first served. 2) they need to renumber their rooms. A sign lists rooms 100 - 140 to the right. But a few odd numbered rooms are at the other end of the hotel. Really, just move the numbers around so a logical person can find their room.

We arrived at the hotel for a Two-day stay. The parking was an issue. Very tight and limited off-street parking, the Wifi was good, the rooms were a little tatty around the edges but were very clean. The location was just a little too far to walk to town and around, by the end of the day being a tourist, you will be exhausted. restaurant around the hotel is very limited. We found an Indian restaurant about 20 minutes walk away, that was great. Downstairs is an overpriced restaurant. other then this the Staff were great.

Clean, well equipped and staff who made it a great stay, will definitely be back! Everything was as it should be, room especially clean . Well situated, we slept well! Staff were attentive but not intrusive.

Stayed at the start and end of a bus tour. Firstly the location is excellent. The lobby is modern and the staff friendly. First room faced street with nice view but was not updated. So much furniture in the room that I couldn't wheel my carry on size suitcase between the bed and tv stand. Why so much furniture? Decided to not rate a review until my second stay as had not been to UK in a few years— maybe it was just me. Mattress seemed pyramid shaped with the firmest part in the middle and weak sides so it felt like you might fall off. Stayed at 3 other hotel b and bs during my economically booked bus tour and all were better than this room. I almost considered rebooking as I didn't need a centrally located room for the end of my trip— just was trying to make the planning process easier At end of tour got an updated room. Much more space, comfy bed. Could wheel my tiny luggage all around and even had a place to set it down! Bathroom didn't look like it was falling apart. Hard to find an extra outlet for anything— and I only needed one.

Spent 4 nights (June 9-12) at this great hotel while on a tour of Scotland. Single room was a good size, clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. Room safe is available, excellent wifi connectivity, decent-sized flat-screen TV included. I was very pleased with this hotel – much better than most. There was also a very decent restaurant (Bisque) downstairs which was convenient and offered very nice meals. Located in the trendy, upscale Bruntsfield district of Edinburgh, with a nice park across the street and surrounded by traditional Edinburgh architecture for very pleasant walks! Great hotel to come back to after busy days touring the sites of Edinburgh and region! Highly recommend!

hairs in bath, dust under bed, night porter rude terrible personnel hygiene and a bit creepy to be honest, staff lazy scruffy and rude, looking closer to furnishings you'll find dirt and dust, bar was incredibly dirty and chairs were so mucky I had to bath as soon as I could, had problems with my key, and the food hygiene was a zero! Duty manager perved over us making us very uncomfortable wich I will be taking the matter further toilets look clean but on close inspection thilthy, I would never step foot in this place again lovely building and the decor is warm and bright that's it nothing else change the management the staff and scrub the whole place from top to bottom maybe consider it! Dreadful stay

Last stayed here many years ago. What a difference - the Hotel has been very tastefully modernised. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The modern dining room has outside seating. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The staff were all well trained and genuinely welcoming and friendly. Will certainly stay again. There are a lot of interesting shops, restaurants and cafes nearby as well as lots of parkland.

This property was excellent in all that they offered from location to quality of room and service as well as quality of hospitality and food and beverage offered. We look forward to our next visit to Edinburgh and another stay at this Hotel.

Last year we rented a flat in the neighborhood for a 4 month work stay. This year, we only had 6 nights but wanted to stay in the neighborhood so chose this hotel. It was just about perfect--large, stylish room with recently refurbished bathroom, great shower, comfy bed, and the very same view we had from our flat last year--brought back great memories! The breakfasts were excellent (I recommend the McSween's haggis if you want to try this traditional Scottish taste treat--it's perfectly seasoned), the staff so helpful, the lobby a great meeting place for colleagues and friends. Others have mentioned the location with easy accessibility to restaurants, coffee, and the Bruntsfield Links--a beautiful green space--and most especially, the buses that go everywhere in town. Ten to fifteen minute ride to the castle, the train station, the Princes Street Gardens, and the Royal Mile--what more can one ask? I'll be back for a short work stay next year and plan to stay again at this lovely hotel!

We stayed here for 3 nights, and we were upgraded to a superior room. It was on the first floor, and was really spacious, well appointed with everything you need-clean sheet, pillows, large bed, big wardrobe, sofa, TV, tea/coffee maker, safe and a bathroom with bath-tub and good quality toiletries. It is very well maintained hotel, though location wise it is about a 15-minute walk to the Castle and the Royal Mile. Also, airport tram services are not available near the hotel and the Uber costs about 21 Euros.

We had a great time. Perfect location - lots of cool restaurants and coffee shops around, and easy to get to all the main museums, the castle... The hotel was clean and staff was super helpful! We would definitely come back.

Lovely hotel in a great area. Location is within walking distance to all the tourist activities. The staff were very kind and went out of their way to assist us. Close to many restaurants and pubs. Near the Hop Off bus for an easy day tour. It is walking distance to the cadtle, but it us up hill going and a lovely downhill return.

I had a one-night stay while attending a conference, and was delighted with my bijou but stylish and very well-equipped bedroom, and smart and snazzy shower room. I was originally attracted by the fact the hotel offered free parking, but in the event arrived in Edinburgh by train. Although there were plenty of buses on hand to take me into the centre, I enjoyed a gentle stroll from the hotel to the EICC. I would very happily stay here again if attending another conference at the same venue. Food and service at the Bisque bistro were also first-rate.

The Bruntsfield is well located for those who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre for a bit of green landscape and yet want easy access to all its attractions. The executive double room we stayed in was clean and very comfortable, even if the decor was a bit dated. We really liked the restaurant overlooking onto a pretty internal garden. The cuisine while not outstanding was of good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a problem with one of the reception staff although they were generally courteous and helpful. We left our room around 9am on Sunday morning and returned around 13.30 to find 1) our room key didnt work and 2) our room was still not cleaned. We went to reception 2 time to have our key re-magnetised by the gentleman receptionist. The 3rd time he finally came up and found that our room key had been blocked a day earlier than our checkout. It would have been nice if he had bothered to check the first or second time, before making us come down to reception twice. An apology for the inconvenience would have been nice too. He had a cold distant attitude 2) This same unhelpful attitude came through when we asked for our room to be cleaned that day (it was already past 13.00). When I enquired a second time at around 2pm when the room would be cleaned he just said it would be cleaned eventually and that the cleaners was busy. When he came to our room to test our key the third time it did not work, I asked him to ask housekeeping to clean our room sooner as I was tired of waiting. Again no apology and he agreed reluctantly to ask housekeeping to clean our room. From his sullen attitude and no appearance of a housecleaner,I believe he did not bother. Although I had booked independently, I was part of a group of about 25 people who had left early that morning. So I knew that the hotel was not full that day. Also, I had found availability when I looked for a room for a friend that evening. It seemed that housekeeping was prioritizing the cleaning of recently vacated rooms rather than rooms with remaining guests. When we got tired of waiting over an hour for our room to be cleaned, I called reception again asking for it to be cleaned so we could relax. A much more friendly lady replied this time and immediately sent up a cleaner. With the exception of this one gentleman, the staff had been very generally welcoming and considerate. I would otherwise have given this hotel 5 stars

We stayed here with a group. The rooms were nice and clean. The included breakfast was good with a variety of fruits, cereals, breads, drinks, meats, cheeses, and more. No hot foods included, but hot food can be ordered off the menu for an upcharge. Staff was helpful and friendly. Within walking distance to the castle, Victoria St., etc, but bring a map as the streets wind all over. Overall a nice hotel.

Good location, it is not far from the castle or the city centre, the hotel and the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good quality, the staff were nice and friendly, Room did not have air con, although fans were available, which made sleep not easy due to noise

Love this hotel, the location was perfect. close to the Meadows and University and within walking distance of all the Royal Mile and other tourist areas without the tourist crowds. many neighborhood restaurants and stores nearby. highly recommend this hotel

Stayed here for a night for business, allocated single room on first floor facing park/road so had a nice view and was spoilt by the good weather too! Room had everything you need for a short stay and whilst clean cosy it was well appointed. No aircon but had a fan and the window did open for fresh air but suffers with traffic noise open and closed, although this didn't bother me and had a good nights sleep. The bathroom looked new and was very modern with a nice walk in shower! Check in was a breeze as you would expect, there was free Wifi everywhere which was a bonus as some places charge. No issues with the food and drink so all in all a nice hotel. The park opposite was a good place to stretch your legs or soak up the sun and watch the world go by with a fair selection of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Recommended.

We visited this hotel for a long weekend. Check-in was busy, but Jenny was very helpful and efficient, and provided a very friendly welcome. We were advised we had been upgraded and given directions on how to find it. Upon arrival our room was very spacious and had a super view, but some areas were found not to be very clean. We mentioned one particular issue to Jenny who apologised and sorted it out. The room appeared to be one of the older rooms, and is in need of some TLC. However the bed was very comfortable and we had a fantastic sleep. We didn't use the restaurant except for breakfast. The food was delicious and there was a great variety of hot and cold food. We did have to wait quite a long time the first morning for our hot breakfast to arrive, and depending on who was serving, the service varied from friendly and helpful to quite curt and unhelpful. The room was well appointed although would benefit from some information about the local area. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the city centre and is surrounded by fantastic restaurants and shops. We were lucky to get parked but spaces are quite limited and small. Overall we had an enjoyable stay but feel that there needs to be closer attention to detail in cleaning and that some of the older rooms need refurbishing. My husband and myself have spent 3 nights in this hotel and we were very impressed by the standard of the hotel and the staff's attention to the guests.From start to finish,in particular Soul,at Reception.He was a very helpful and informative young man. A credit to Best Western

stayed 2 days in early May 2019. Clean quiet spacious room on top floor. Friendly helpful check-in. Had 1 dinner in the near empty DR overlooking the patio & it was good. Breakfast at 10 pounds ($18 Canadian) is overpriced so we opted to walk to a nearby cafe & got an A-1 full Scottish breakfast for 5 pounds. Approx. 30 min. walk to the Castle & Royal Mile is downhill & pleasant BUT we taxied back (8 pounds).

We stayed for 5 nights in April/May 2019 to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and to introduce my wife to Edinburgh/Scotland. We had a super room (No.8) which is one of several new bedrooms in the hotel. A lovely room overlooking the park, with a very large en-suite bath/shower room. The bedroom contained a huge, comfortable bed, a small writing desk and chair, and a very large, circular table and 2 armchairs. Without exception the staff were friendly, polite, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Special mention must go to Jenny on reception, who was helpfulness personified, and Julie, Duty Manager, who never failed to pause for a chat whenever she saw us. The only slight drawback is that the in-house restaurant is a brasserie, and therefore has a slightly limited range of dishes. But that really is a very minor quibble, and didn't detract from our visit in any way.

Six nights here recently while vacationing with family. Rooms are a good size for two people so that we did not feel cramped. Bathroom was also a nice size, but it did not have an exhaust fan as many older, renovated places do not, but it was clean and modern. Beds were comfortable (we were in a twin bed room), and the duvet was quite warm, but I was told you can ask for a sheet and blanket instead as there is no a/c in the rooms. Nice and roomy breakfast room downstairs, with breakfast included, but they have a menu as well. We also had dinner one night in their downstairs pub, and the food was very good. Bus right down the street to all the Royal Mile sites. I would definitely stay here again!

Had a fantastic stay while attending my cousins wedding in Edinburgh. The wedding reception at the hotel was fantastic. And our room was the best weve ever had !!! Will definatley be returning for a few nights away x

We'd just completed the North Coast 500, and had booked a couple of nights here, to see a bit of our favourite city, before heading home. Upon arrival, we were informed that we'd been given a free upgrade … which was nice! We were given room 102, which was MASSIVE! Queen-sized double bed, in a big, high-ceilinged room, with a lounge area off to one side, furnished with a 2-seater sofa and coffee table. Bathroom was very nice also. Good location, fairly close to the city centre (10/15-minute walk to Prince's Street I guess). Breakfast was tasty, with various options available. Left there feeling very refreshed, for our 400-mile drive home.

I stayed here a couple of times on business when staying in Edinburgh for some training. The value is brilliant, on my first day I had a massive double room which was very spacious. The staff are polite and efficient which is always appreciated. The breakfast which was included was great. Good continental selections with a fresh cooked hot option. I would definitely stay here again if I have any more over nighters in Edinburgh!

Booked this hotel as it was only 1/2 mile from Novotel Edinburgh Centre where I was running an event the next day. Reasonable rate including breakfast via booking.com Car Parking - limited and operated on a 1st come 1st served basis but we got a space. Alternatively there is on road parking directly outside hotel which is free after 6.30pm at night and all day Sunday Bedroom - was very spacious (I think we got a free upgrade to an Executive Room), very clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom was also spotless with ample number of towels provided. Breakfast - did not have so unable to comment but my partner said it was good. Location - excellent, 15 minute walk to Grassmarket area of the city, 25 to Princess Street. Buses run regularly from just down the road - catch a number 11, 16 or 23 to take you in to the city. £4.00 day ticket allows you unlimited travel until 11.30pm or single journey tickets are £1.70 each. Make sure you have correct change though as drivers do not give change. Staff - superb, everyone we spoke to was very polite and professional Overall - good standard of hotel, service and good location

Well located but limited parking. Comfortable room etc. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good breakfast but restaurant very quiet in evening. Walking distance into old town. We are recommending to friends and family.

The hotel was nice, walking distance from the castle and old town. The room was spacious with a very comfortable and large bed. Apart from a few hairs in the bath when we checked in the room was nice and clen. I did like the old style furniture

Overall a very nice place to stay. We did think the breakfast was a little expensive. I had to have my key reset three times.. that was only an issue because I had a leg injury and it was difficult for me to keep walking back to the front desk to get it fixed. With that being said. Everything was handled quickly and i would definitely stay there again. Lovely staff .

Amazing hotel and always enjoy best western upgrades. The staff was nice and friendly. The location was great. I think some of the rooms needs a bit of improving such as some of my friends didnt had very comfy beds. Apart from that great stay

My husband and I spent a week at Bruntsfield Hotel and were so pleased with not only the location but the entire hotel staff. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the evening meal at the Bisque Brasserie. The manager and desk clerks were so competent and gladly helped with any touring info or information. Jenny and Soul especially went out of their way to accommodate our every request! We will recommend The Bruntsfield Hotel to our friends and family.

I recently stayed at the Bruntsfield Hotel for the second time within 8 days. On both occasions I found this hotel to be well worth it. The staff made one feel welcome and the quality of the food was excellent. I also found the overall value to be excellent. The hotel is walking distance (15mins) from the castle and a short taxi ride from Waverley Station. I would certainly use the hotel again when in Edinburgh.

My wife and I spent two nights here on a mini break. It was a late booking and an absolute gem of a find. The staff were warm and friendly and the room as clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good too and freshly prepared - not food from a stagnant buffet. Car parking is a bit on the tight-side if you drive an estate car.

It was a delight to be in this stylish part of town in an hotel which ticks most of the boxes. It is well-placed, has nice big rooms, huge comfortable beds, and brilliant continental breakfasts. There is also car parking. The breakfasts are really superior: good Greek yoghourt and loads of freshly cut fruit. The cooked breakfasts looked good too. The car parking is limited. Once you have a place you should endeavour to keep it! The space we wanted to call our own was taken when we next got there but the hotel receptionist allowed us to use a space reserved for staff so long as we vacated it earlyish in the morning. The story of what happened then is too long to recount but ended very happily. Walking on Bruntsfield Links and the Meadows to the museums, seeing Bruntsfield and north Morningside was a great experience. A great hotel. Many thanks.

This hotel was in a great location. We could park the car and walk into the old town. A nice 20 minute walk through the park took you down through the Grassmarket and up to the castle. The hotel room was quite large and had nice views of the park accross the street. The walls were a bit thin and could hear the neighbours but it wasn't that bad. The best thing by far about this hotel was Jenny who checked us in. She talked us through a map telling us which way we should walk, where to stop.off and recommending places we should visit. Jenny even wrote down the bus numbers we might need and the fare info. I think this allowed us to get to all the best places and make the most of our time there. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk us its really appreciated.

Nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with good choice of food available. Ideal location for our purposes and a bonus to have parking facilities at the hotel would definitely return.

Very pleasant visit here in January 2019. The hotel had been refurbished throughout since my last visit many years ago and has been greatly improved with the upgrade. Welcome reception and most helpful and friendly staff. I had upgraded our room choice and it proved to be really excellent with an adjoining dressing room and fine view over the Meadows. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the meal was agreeable but not outstanding. Breakfast in the morning was really very good which we both enjoyed greatly. Staff were very nice and most attentive. Service excellent. Have no hesitation in recommending this as a good hotel and we look forward to returning there on our next trip to Edinburgh.

Great location with access to the city centre. It a converted Victorian town house in a quite locality. Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Comfortable bed in a generously big room. Did not experience any other facilities. Staff was generally good.

Wonderful weekend break. The hotel is one of the best we have stayed in. The ambience the staff the breakfast and the overhaul comfort of our weekend was brilliant A little walk into the town but can easily get the hop on hop off bus near the church would definatelty stay again

This visit was a Xmas present from my partner's family. We arrived and was warmly welcomed and shown to a fabulous 4 Poster bedroom which was very spacious and the facilities were first class. We had 2 meals in the hotel and the service and food was top quality. The only downfall was the limited parking and the location was about 2 miles from Princess Street, but we were advised by the staff to use the bus service when we went to Leith to see the Royal Yacht Brittania. There are many buses going to the centre Edinburgh and you can get a Day Rider for £4 per day which gives you multi-travel until 2330hrs. The staff were very helpful and we would not hesitate in returning to the hotel in the future.

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff - lovely breakfast and service. Room was spacious and goid facilities - provision and variety of Brodie teas, coffees etc. Plentiful hot water in the morning. Would highly recommend.

Hotel was easy to find and had free parking. No complaints about the hotel, our room was lovely with a view over the park. We thought it might be noisy due to being on the main road but it was fine. Breakfast area was really nice, good value and plenty of choice. We'd definitely use this hotel if we come back to the city.

Stayed for 4 nights in mid March. Hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming. Good location to explore the city. Bus service just outside the entrance which is cheap and regular or a fairly short walk to the city centre. Staff on reception, in Restaurant and bar were lovely, especially lady on reception (Jenny I think?) who spent lots of time giving us advice on the sights to see and transport links etc. The evening manager was also very welcoming and full of good suggestions. The room was spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was good and reasonable value, especially the breakfast which was well prepared. Only slight complaint was that the pizza on the evening menu was not great, but other dishes were very well prepped and tasty. Lots of other food options in the surrounding streets. A lovely stay, we enjoyed it very much.

Just outside of the city center, but less than 5-7 minutes via one of the best bus networks in the nation, this hotel provided great value for money and exactly the sort of functional and comfortable stay for overnight business. The room was small but I only needed it for a night's sleep. There was a large, powerful standing fan in the room that I was pleasantly surprised to see since I find the noise of the fan drowns out any of the typical hotel noise, which is great for alight sleeper like myself.

Hotel nice. Staff excellent. Walkable to city centre but also on a couple of convenient bus routes (no. 11 goes direct from the hotel to Brittania in Leith). Good value restaurant. Only downsides are limited parking and poor selection of bitters in the bar.

Location is great and parking is free at the hotel (which doesn't happen everywhere). Rooms are well laid out, breakfast is plentiful though not the cheapest. We had a problem with water supply as did a few room but they fixed it. No complaints. Service was smooth and efficient and there's free shortbread in the lobby - what's not to like about that! The bar is relaxed and the staff there are knowledgeable and friendly.

We were given this short break has a Christmas present from are daughter and son,we have really enjoyed are stay at this brilliant hotel it's decorated to a high standard ,we are in room no6 which is a large room it has a very large bed,and a beautiful bathroom with a free standing bath,a walk in shower,also two large flat screen TVs,there is also chairs and table,lots of cupboard space ,a vary useful kettle and lots of tea,coffee etc.the staff are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly ,the breakfast is like the rest of the hotel excellent.my wife and I would highly recommend this hotel 10/10

A 4 night stay. A very comfortable room. Transport links from the airport are very good with regular bus links to and from the City centre to the hotel. It was only a 25 minute walk to the Castle. The Bistro, bar and restaurant were very good, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants and independent shops in the Bruntsfield area. Would certainly stay there again on my next visit to Edinburgh.

Wonderful hotel, room was immaculate and comfortable. The staff were outstandingly helpful and friendly and the food was very very good, particularly as I have several serious dietary issues. Top value for money and will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

Booked a room with my BW rewards points as Mrs had event in the city. Got free upgrade - v decent, spacious room. Comfortable night's sleep. Good bar, friendly staff. Breakfast encompassed a great buffet spread and cooked choices too. Shame about the coffee. Certainly wouldn't object to staying there again.

Stayed here for 2 nights and overall a positive experience. Check in and out very easy and the staff are friendly. We brought the car and was able to park up on site and leave it there for the duration of our stay with no extra charge, it was easy to locate for our first visit to Edinburgh. Rooms are quite old fashioned decor and did not have a fridge which we would have preferred probably something more modern with a few more facilities. No iron or ironing board so we had to call reception but they did bring one up straight away. Tv worked fine and had enough channels, plus the room and bathroom both clean. We didn't find the bed very comfy but that's just personal opinion, however we did like the thick curtains which blocked out light nicely. Hotel is about 10 minute walk from the main city centre bit.

Meeting with family locally, so this hotel was ideal. We had two rooms and the receptionist offered and changed one room so that we were near each other which was really helpful and sensible. Nothing was too much trouble. Stayed before over 3 years ago, and this stay was exceptionally good.

I decided to overnight in Edinburgh rather than getup at 5am and drive three hours for a seminar. This hotel had a single room for £50 including breakfast so I thought I'd give it a go. I must confess to being a wee bit nervous as the room was described as ‘cosy' and any seasoned traveler knows that's a euphemism for ‘tiny'. The room was great. Despite being sold as a single it had a double bed, views over the links, and all mod cons. The breakfast was amazing with tatty scones, veggie haggis and quorn sausages. Special mention must go to the receptionist Jenny who was funny, friendly and welcoming. Only downside was I didn't see local author Ian Rankin. Great place. Recommended.

Having just stayed at this hotel overnight can only describe it as one off the nicest hotels I have stayed in within the UK. From the moment we checked in to final checkout all the staff were excellent and a true credit to the hotel.Dinner and breakfast was superb.second visit to this hotel and will deffinately be back. special thanks to Jason the general manager who made our stay so special, it really was much appreciated. We stayed here this week for 3 nights and while we did have a problem with our room due to the noise of a water tank above us the staff dealt with this efficiently without any fuss. The staff are all very pleasant and the hotel is very clean. Breakfast choices were good and quality of products was good.

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Staff very friendly, breakfast very good. Modern Reception with drinks and shortbread nice touch. Large room with big comfy bed but the room itself old fashioned furniture and dated but clean. Would stay again as good location. 20 min walk into Edinburgh but lots to look at on the way.

Stayed for a long weekend with a number of other friends and family in connection with a family wedding in the area (not in the hotel itself but just down the road). Staff were very helpful, a couple of the rooms were upgraded and the big ones were ideal (plenty of room) for the the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in one and the boys to get ready in another. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The only problem with our room was that it was at the front of the hotel and so subject to noise from Morningside Road, but on the other hand the size and space were just ideal for what we needed - can't have it both ways. The Bistro normally closed at 7pm but the hotel kept it open especially for our party of 20 and the food was good.

Not sure I should tell everybody about this gem it will become too popular! We have used this hotel often to eat or just have a drink, this is our first stay simply fabulous, great room lots of space, comfortable,quiet, in spite of the main road nearby. central to most things in the city depending on how mobile or energetic you feel you can walk to the castle Princess st the High st the three main theatres are a stones throw away,a bus stop virtually at the door,it just ticks all the boxes.

We stayed in the Brunstfield Hotel for a few days over the New Year and from the moment we stepped into the reception we knew we had made the right choice. We were met by the lovely, smiley receptionist Nicola who soon had us checked in and car parking sorted. As mentioned the car park is pretty small but there is lots of parking around the hotel. We had two rooms which we sparking clean with a fabulous comfy bed and lots of storage space. On our first evening we had booked a restaurant in the city which was a short walk although there was a bus stop outside which was easily accessible. We all slept like logs on our return although the room was quite warm, however as we was in such a quiet area we could open the window without being disturbed. We ate breakfast in the downstairs dining room which also extended into the lovely airy breakfast room. The staff were very polite and attentive and we was served teas and coffee and the hot breakfast, the cereals and fruits were buffet. There was lots of choice and we really enjoyed our breakfasts. We had a fabulous time in Edinburgh and were out and about most of the time, the highlight being New Years Eve. We would definitely like to return to Edinburgh and the Bruntsfield would be our hotel of choice.

Nothing could fault our 2-night stay at this hotel. From the spacious and clean room, to the attentive staff and superior breakfast. One thing that we won't forget is the massive bed (triple?), coupled with a very comfy mattress. Result? A great night's sleep - well deserved after a long day exploring Edinburgh.

Very nice clean hotel, friendly staff & free WiFi around 15 minute walk into town approximately 1.2miles away. King size bed well worth paying the bit extra, room comes with nice shower/bath facilities. Didn't visit the hotel restaurant but the food was very reasonably priced.

My wife had never been to Edinburgh, so as part of our honeymoon we traveled there and spent a few days at the Best Western Plus Edinburgh City Centre Bruntsfield Hotel. For anyone wishing to stay close enough to the city, that you can access everything by foot or bus, then this hotel is the place for you. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional in their approach, providing exemplary customer service. Jennie and her mentor in reception who greeted us upon our arrival both deserve special mention, along with Rachael and my apologies that we cannot remember the mentor's name! Our room was clean and comfortable with a large en-suite attached. A traditional cooked breakfast was available each morning in the Bistro, where meals were served in the evening. Thank you for adding a few more happy memories to our trip to Edinburgh.

Out shopping in Bruntsfield & Morningside decided to take dad for dinner before setting of home. Had a great dinner of fish & chips followed by divine puddings. Service and surroundings are excellent thoroughly reccomend the Bistro at any time of day.

A very good hotel to stay in. The room was very comfortable . They have a good restaurant. The hotel team are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a free car parking. Just 15 minutes by bus down to the Royal mile and Princess street.

Just returned from a couple of days break at the Bruntsfield Hotel. We had such a wonderful time we are now thinking about when we can return next year! Value for money is fantastic for this standard of hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a full array of everything you could think off cooked breakfasts,Continental and also Gluten free options. Something for everyone. Our room was just perfect, nice and quiet and had everything we required. The bed was so comfortable following our Christmas shopping and we weren't long in zonking out! The hotel is also very close to some wonderful eateries and the small individual shops nearby are lovely. Most importantly though,the staff are a credit to the hotel as they are so accommodating and couldnt do enough for you! Can't wait till our next visit! Well Done Bruntsfield Hotel! See you soon!

We stayed at this Best Western to visit the Edinburgh Christmas Market. About a mile from the market you can walk down Lothian road or through the meadows and onto the Royal Mile before reaching the market. Plenty bus options or taxis to get back. £10-15 in an Uber. Hotel itself- great staff both in the hotel and in the restaurant. Management present and greeting guests or helping with any queries. Restaurant has good food and a decent breakfast.

Positives; fabulous staff. Fabulous building. Very modern entrance and reception areas. Spacious bedrooms. Excellent location. Good public transport links to centre. Quiet room Negatives; bedrooms dated and not logically organised.(no socket near kettle.) Bathroom showing signs of wear and tear/ in need of replacing. External handrail not secure. No issues with breakfast at all- good selection. Cannot comment on restaurant meals as not used

Stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip. The room was comfortable (if not a little hot!) and hotel is well located for the city centre. The hotel could probably do with a little updating, but all in all a good stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We requested and obtained a quiet room and we were pleased not to be in a room overlooking the main road. Everything was first rate. We had a good meal in the main dining room and our room was extremely comfortable with lots of space and a first class bathroom. The staff were very attentive.and friendly.

My husband and I came to Edinburgh for two nights to do a spot of Christmas shopping. We arrived on Thursday to be greeted by a lovely gentleman on reception (I'm afraid I didn't get catch any names) who was so friendly and attentive. We were given a free upgrade for no reason beyond the upgraded room being available, which was a nice surprise. The room was a mission to find as the first floor was a bit of a maze (the place is deceptively big!) but once we found it we were very impressed. Everything was immaculate and clean, with every amenity I would expect and more. The tea and coffee facilities were particularly good, and the bathroom was lovely. The bed was huge and comfortable, with a tv in the bedroom area and another in the lounge area. The decor was lovely and everything just felt so comfortable and well thought out. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with stunning interior decor that is elegant yet homely. The staff were all so attentive and friendly, smiling warmly and making us feel very welcome. The bar was comfortable with table service and a good menu. We only ate breakfast and one light lunch there but everything was fabulous. The choice at breakfast was impressive and the service very good. The only two criticisms I could make are: 1) the parking is very limited and very tight. However, this is to be expected in a city hotel and there is nothing they can do about it. Not ideal but certainly not enough of an issue to put us off staying again. And 2) the Christmas tree in the bar beside the lift was terrible! Lol. It isn't a serious critique but it was a little confusing why, when the rest of the decor including the Christmas decorations, was so well done, there was a lame looking wonky tree too tall for the low ceiling sat looking so forlorn! In all seriousness, I cannot find anything negative enough about the hotel, it's friendly staff or the amazing service we received to reward anything less than 5/5. This will certainly be our hotel of choice anytime we find ourselves in Edinburgh.

Used to stay here when our son was at Uni in Edinburgh but hadn't been back for 5 years. It's still a great hotel s bit out of the centre in a lovely area with plenty if small shops and quality eateries. Walkable to the centre, on bus route or plenty of taxis. Without a doubt one of the best hotel breakfasts anywhere, no buffet here, everything freshly and perfectly cooked to order. King sized beds are very comfortable. There have been many improvements which appear to be on going. No complaints and would be happy to return.

Excellent stay. The staff were warm and attentive at all times. Food was very good indeed. Rooms were cleaned and aired each day and the bed was very comfortable indeed. *(Superior room with 4 poster) Fully recommend the hotel.

Nice hotel in a good area within Edinburgh. Easy access to city centre because local buses are plentiful. If travelling to the hotel by car, parking spaces are very limited and also small. Overall, the comfort, service and food quality is very good value for price paid. Well worth consideration -

An excellent hotel in both position and quality. We decided to stay in Edinburgh for a few days of sightseeing and searched for a hotel with parking and up popped The Bruntsfield Hotel. Situated a reasonable walking distance from the main areas of Edinburgh with an alternative of a nearby bus stop and a frequent bus service it is an ideal place to stay. Location good and the welcoming and friendly staff together with the quality interior certainly ticks all the boxes. Spotlessly clean and spacious. The breakfast was top quality and freshly prepared and again the surroundings lovely. As the weather wasn't the best on our second evening we decided to eat in the bistro one and we were impressed by the quality of the food and the very reasonable price. On the first evening we wandered a short distance up the road and ate at an exceptional Italian restaurant.We enjoyed our stay and would recommend unreservedly. Thank you for the happy memories!

This hotel rates very near the top on our list of hotels we have stayed in. With friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean and comfortable rooms and a breakfast to set you nicely up for the day we could find no faults. With a bus stop just up the road, one could make use of the many frequent buses to travel into the centre as well as to other parts of the city (hint - buy a day ticket for £4 per person if you are planning on using the bus more than twice in a day otherwise it is £1.70 pp for any journey regardless of length - ask the reception for bus details). Our room was facing the main road but we surprisingly heard very little traffic noise and enjoyed three restful nights sleep. Just one tiny thing - a choice of gluten-free sausages at breakfast would have been nice (my wife is gluten intolerant).

Much enjoyed stay at this not-so-far from city centre hotel. Lovely superior room overlooking the park - one small comment, would have been helpful to have had a small table between the comfy chairs to rest mugs of tea/coffee on. Apart from that - oh, and the strange experience of switching the main TV off and somehow at the same time switching the other TV that was back-toback to the other TV on! - the room was fantastic with all that you would need in the bathroom. There was a hiccup at the start of our stay when a gift of flowers from our family was wrongly attributed, via a gift card, to the hotel - however, this was quickly and expertly resolved (by the Deputy Manager) and we were more than pleased with the outcome (a free bottle of wine!). We would certainly return here - and I haven't even mentioned the food yet, very good standard and reasonable prices.

I always stay at the Best Western Bruntsfield when l visit Edinburgh which is several times a year. It is clean, comfortable and never fails to satisfy. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts delicious. On my last visit, l had the best poached eggs l have ever tasted! Thank you to the chef. Claire A., Kent

The Bruntsfield never fails to satisfy. I can't fault this hotel and it's staff, I absolutely love to stay there. It removes the pain of having to travel and stay overnight for business commitments and I so look forward to having a break there.

We stayed one night this week in one of the recently refurbished rooms in the Best Western Bruntsfield and it was excellent! The new windows were tested by the roadworks right outside the hotel and thankfully did a great job of eliminating much of the noise! Also love the smart new reception area and as usual, breakfast was excellent.

Spent 2 weeks at the Bruntsfield hotel. Had a huge room all to myself. Great view of the park across the street. Walking distance to the Royal Mile. Bus stop just down the street. Front desk staff were very helpful. Housekeeping kept my room really clean. The bar/lounge on the ground floor has wonderful food. Never disappointed. Would stay there again.

The room was excellent. Everything about it was 1st class. However, the noise from the street was loud. Even through the hotel is situation across the street from a lovely park, the road is a busy thoroughfare with lots of buses, trucks and cars constantly in route at a breakneck speed. The windows were double pane but still not enough to stop the noise.

The location is ideal to access the parks and walk into the city centre. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants just up the road from the hotel. The hotel is a combination of traditional and modern. My room was massive and the bathroom was nice.

We attend an event in their private function suite to the right of the main entrance. I would highly recommend this place for multiple reasons: 1. The staff - they were so friendly, attentive and professional. The bar staff were friendly, the catering staff were extremely efficient and the manager was welcoming and professional. We had children running around and playing - which I sure was slightly disruptive to the waiters - but not at one moment did they appear to be bothered. 2. The food - the food was perfect. Lovely fresh sandwiches, accompanied by salmon, potatoes and vegetables. Very fresh, tasty and enough to go around. 3. The presentation - the room was beautifully presented, very clean, modern and lots of lovely finishing touches. I would look no further if you are looking for a private dining/event in Edinburgh - the Bruntsfield Hotel will not fail to deliver everything you expect and more. Thank you for ensuring such a lovely day was had by all.

We have stayed many times and have always found this hotel to be comfortable and clean. We noticed a complete overhaul of the entrance and foyer area of the hotel which made this more inviting. There were still complimentary short bread and water available. Travelling as 3 adults, the hotel can accommodate sharing the one room, a family room, so this makes staying more enjoyable. There are also some car park spaces (on a first come first serve basis) and when bringing a car, we have always been able to utilize this for at least part of the stay. We had breakfast and found this to be the usual good standard, with many choices and friendly staff. We will stay again and recommend this to others wanting a good hotel with friendly staff.

hotel first class not far from city center but far enough to be quiet, this is a must see city great pubs, the castle is great value and a good day out, HMS Brittiania is also a must visit go on the bus very cheap and very reliable ,AVOID Holyrood palace not worth the effort in my opion

Lovely hotel. Room was a good size and very clean. No noise. Good area facing a park with some nice shops in the surrounding area. About a 20 minute walk to Princes street but plenty of buses to jump on to get you there if you don't fancy walking. Breakfast was really good with a great choice. We sat by the window for breakfast and were treated to a view onto the courtyard with some squirrels hopping about. Couldn't ask for more!

This is neither more or less, it's just average. I stayed here for 3 nights last weekend and found it to be O.K. It says City centre but it's rather a bit of centre to be correct. It's only a 10 minutes walk from Grassmarket but it will take you 20 to get to the Golden mile. One of the nice thing about the room is the bed. Really comfortable. But that's the only thing. Don't get me wrong. It's clean and the staff is courteous, but it's a bit warned down. Sometimes the breakfast can repair some faults the other facilities lack, but not this time. Unfortunately. The breakfast was actually one of the worst I have had in a long time. There's so many other Hotels closer to the city with better standard. Go for these instead.

Well were do you start, this Best Western at Bruntsfield is just a great Hotel to stay in as its realy handy to get to the centre of Edinburgh from here with bus stops 100metres away and the bus transport system so good that I always use it and leave my car or Motorcycle at the hotel. Well we had booked in last Saturday for a few nights as we had booked the Hotels Cardoon suite for our sons wedding on Monday. From the time we arrived until we checked out we were treated like family we just love staying here when in Edinburgh. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeble its just great. The wedding arrangement and the day was just perfect,and was arranged through Fiona Brown who booked the Cardoon suitefor us. It was beautifully decorated and set up perfect for the wedding along with the Dj we all had a great time. I was constantly told by guests that the venue was beautiful and that the staff were so nice to them which all makes for a great day. Even when we were supposed to be seated at around 5-30pm for the meal to begin the staff were patient as we were an hour behind as the photographer was still taking photographs of the couple and guests in the gardens. When we did finaly get around to sitting down the meal was exellent the food was delicious and all the guests complimented on the food etc. The night finaly finished of about 1-30am with the staff still behind the bar and still with big smiles on there faces and lovely compliments of how the wedding had gone. I would like to compliment them all for there hard work and pleasant demeaner throughout the whole stay at the Bruntsfield. Thank you all so very much for all your hard work and for the way you looked after all our guests at the wedding and those staying in the Hotel. I spent my final night in Scotland at this hotel. It was great. Check in was a breeze. They offer free parking. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is within walking distance to attractions, restaurants, shops and pubs. There is also an amazing park across the street. I was able to go for my power walk without worrying about traffic. This hotel was 10 times better than the Airbnb I booked in Edinburgh for the beginning of my trip. It was also less expensive than the Airbnb. Breakfast in the morning was very good and you can custom order your breakfast and take advantage of the buffet. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh.

had a excellent over night stay warm welcome and spacious room good breakfast and on a lovely quiet street also on main bus route into city centre, staff were very helpful and interested in our visit, took time to tell us bus stops and which numbers to get into the city

Upon arrival on Sunday morning our room was not yet available but there was tea&coffee and cookies in the lobby and friendly staff. The hotel has pleasant feel of a boutique establishment. We were disappointed with breakfast (not a good value), considering that there are nice choices just outside on street. And it's a bit odd that you have to let me know night before. But this is not big deal considering that you have an option to go for it or skip it. However, the frugality of operation is a bit irritating. One bar of soap for 2 people.. only replenished every other night! What's worse, the plumbing was unacceptably uncomfortable. The faucet did not have mixer. So we had to choose between scolding hot or cold water, which made even washing hands a challenging procedure. This is faucet from 19th century. We traveled in August and weather was very cool, so absence of AC was not an issue. The room decor is quite dated and lacking any frills, bed was on a smaller side which is a shame considering room was quite large and spacious. Instead of closet, there is a wardrobe. The room catalog says bathrobes are available upon request. When I asked receptionist about it, I was told there is no such thing. I think this option only apply to their other property. Location is ok. It's in a quiet neighborhood. 15-20 minutes walk to Old Town area and a bus stop nearby. The misalignment of the elevator with actual floors was strange and inconvenient when you bring in luggage. Overall this hotel requires updating to make it adequate for 21st century. If you travel from North America, keep in mind to bring your outlet converter or you can loan from the reception. The staff at the reception was always friendly and helpful.

I would stay again this hotel :-) very clean & friendly staff! yummy food had both breakfast & dinner deal for our stay, great location good public transport for those of us that don't drive, It's a pleasant walk into the town centre through a lovely park it took us around 20 minutes to get to the bustle of the city of Edinburgh.

The hotel was very accommodating our early arrival around 8:30 a.m. We were able to buy breakfast at the hotel even though we hadn't stayed there the night before. It was easy to get to and from by public transportation and cabs. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was updated. The facility is an older building with uneven floors that squeak. But, the accommodations were nice and clean. The food was good and adequate and it was convenient to eat dinner there. Drinks were excellent and the help very helpful. I would consider staying there again.

Could not of asked for a better place to get married, venue and staff were perfect, recommended Studio 16 for photography and Bill Russell for music, both were outstanding, everyone catered for and delivered a perfect day, would definitely recommend even if just for a coffee. Hotel ratings not working but would give 5stars for each cleanliness, service and value.

Lovely hotel in all respects. Clean and comfortable room (Executive double), food excellent and plentiful, staff all polite and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Edinburgh.

This hotel was ideally situated for the city centre , it had all amenities you need, the staff were very pprofessional and friendly, the breakfast was extremely good , lots of choice, I did not eat there at night but the food smelled and looked amAzing.

I don't think you could do better than the Bruntsfield Hotel when staying in Edinburgh. I met people who had stayed elsewhere and wished they hadn't, particularly when I told them how good this was. Clean, well organised, friendly, helpful - really, what more could one want? The breakfast is excellent, whether you have buffet or cooked. There is a very reasonably priced dinner, especially if you can order before 7pm. It is on a bus route (no.11), so if you come by train, find the right bus stop, as taxis are expensive.

Yes, all that we asked for. A clean, spacious hotel, handy for town with helpful staff. Will definitely use again. The buses for the town centre stop yards away and take only 15 minutes, the park opposite gives a nice environment, and there's adequate parking too.

This is long overdue and I visited in June 2017 but it doesn't go that far back-on here! had a lovely stay having had to re-arrange from the May. Major train problems meant I originally couldn't get up to Edinburgh and the staff were absolutely wonderful letting me move my stay to June instead. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good so I must go back again!! Everyone was very helpful and I had a lovely room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Went here on a Work trip to Edinburgh and was very impressed with the size of the room, the quality of the bed and the friendly staff. Didn't try the breakfast as lots of nice local haunts nearby. There is free locally made shortbread and coffee / tea to go at the reception. Do pick up!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Best Western Bruntsfield. This hotel has a great breakfast (which was included in our booking) and they will cook eggs, bacon, haggis, sausage and a few other things to order. There is a cold buffet as well. This hotel is in a quieter area about 20 minutes walk to Princes Street. There are a couple of good restaurants close by - Montpeliers and Papilio. We had very good meals at both of them and they were reasonable. We took the 48 hour Hop On Hop Off tour (bought tickets at the Waverley Bridge information centre first) which included the 3 tour lines and admission to Hollyrood Palace, Edinburgh Castle and the Britannia for around 55 pounds. It was a great value and I would highly recommend if you're a first time visitor to Edinburgh. There was no fridge in the room but the staff brought up an ice bucket on request.

Hotel was clean , and this is the most important thing Morning receptionist and the other lady ( who seems to be supervisor ) were very friendly and helpful I'm sorry dont know the names . but I think the receptionist was Italian .and in fact they the only 2 members of the F.O I saw them wearing the smile Visit from 4th - 7th Sep Breakfast was not so good . Bed was very comfortable . and the size of the room was good enough . in general good place to stay for short period of time

My husband and I spent two weeks at the Bruntsfield Hotel during Festival Fringe. We were up early each day, and fortified by the scrumptious hot breakfast, were able to "do the Fringe" until late at night. Because it is only a 20-35 minute walk to most Fringe venues, we were able to get some exercise whilst admiring the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh. The room was spacious, quiet, and the bathroom had lots of hot water for both baths and showers. The bed was a nice comfy king and the bedding was always fresh during our two week stay. An unexpected bonus was a view of the fireworks at the Castle during Tattoo. We found the front desk staff to be very helpful and the morning breakfast staff attentive to our needs. There are many things to like about the Bruntsfield Hotel, but the homemade shortbread, which was a post-Fringe snack, has to be among our favorites!

Edinburgh has so many options for places to stay, that it was difficult choosing one. Originally I wanted to stay right on "The Royal Mile" for convenience as I was traveling with family, one of which was elderly. However, I was happy that I selected this location because it wasn't as busy or as loud as staying on the Royal Mile would have been, and it was very pleasant being located right across the street from an extended park system ideal for my morning runs. We stayed in 3 rooms. All were lovely, spacious, immaculate and had comfortable beds and pillows. The only negative to the rooms was the water pressure when showering. It just about trickled out, enough for bathing, but less that ideal for washing hair. The food in the adjoining restaurant was ok, and mediocre. The service at the restaurant, was poor. Long waits, waiters in training. But, there were some delicious restaurants nearby on the main road that were fun to experience. Overall a good choice and I would stay here again.

I booked this hotel for our first wedding anniversary but left absolutely disappointed. I stated that it was our anniversary when I booked it and sent a follow up email to remind them. When we got to the hotel I mentioned it again and all the guy at the reception could say was "you should have told us" I was angered. They made no effort to make our experience here romantic and memorable. The room was basic and the hot tap water actually burns your skin! So dangerous. Throughout our whole stay we had bad reception so we couldn't even use their wifi! We should be compensated for this poor service. Why put us in a room that does not allow us to use your wifi that you claim we would receive???!

Stayed for 6 nights from 10 August. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Minor issues dealt with immediately. Walk to Old Town about 20 minutes. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Eat in the restaurant 3 nights of the stay, food was always hot and tasty. Excellent stay.

I was in Edinburgh for 2 weeks for both a vacation and doing research on family history. I wanted someplace quiet but not to far from the Royal mile. I was a 15-20 min walk from all the action. I was on the second floor overlooking the park. The front desk staff was great. Housekeeping was great. Eat a lot at the Bisque Bar/Lounge in the hotel. Great food and service. I also would recommend getting a bus pass. Great bus system over there.

We are regular guests at The Bruntsfield Hotel in Edinburgh, where we have always found the staff to be very professional and helpful with a smile. We always receive a very friendly welcome on arrival. There are sufficient parking facilities in the grounds of, or very near to the hotel. On our last visit at the beginning of August, we were delighted to be allocated one of the newly refurbished rooms. The room and bathroom were ultra-modern, stylish, very comfortable and quiet. The room itself was spacious, very clean and with a very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were excellent, as were the evening meals, which we ate either in the restaurant, or bar area – both attended by very attentive staff. The hotel is situated in a very favourable location facing The Meadows, a large green expanse with a pleasant twenty minute walk to the Old Town and very convenient for the many interesting tourist attractions in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. We look forward to our next stay and a huge “Thank you” to all at The Bruntsfield for the usual excellent hospitality.

We stay with best western a lot while in Europe. While this hotel was not in old town, it was just 1 mile from the castle. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The bath was large, but the hot water in the shower left a little to be desired.

Excellent distance from the city center. Nice, clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Decent breakfast. Quaint architecture. Quiet stay for sleeping in. Right off of The Meadows so you can putt around on the putting greens, walk down to where some of the Edinburgh Festival shows are playing, or get to the Royal Mile within 20 minutes of walking.

We had our wedding at the Bruntsfield on 27 July and I can't recommend it enough. Fiona, Ian and team were amazing and made sure that everything was just perfect for our big day. Nothing was too much trouble and all the little extra, personal touches just made it so special! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for ensuring our day is one we'll never forget.

The location is the best feature of this hotel; directly across from the 'Links', which are quite pleasant to stroll through, and within a walk from many major attractions, shopping, restaurants. Rooms are pleasant and comfortable, food is very good and staff are friendly. In summer, windows open just a few inches and rooms can be stuffy on hot days. There is also quite a bit of traffic noise, so bring ear plugs if you aren't a heavy sleeper (wedding parties at the hotel can also bring quite a bit of noise). Overall, a nice place.

Smart Victorian town-house hotel in upmarket suburb. Lots of style. Easy to find, on main road. 20 min walk to city centre. Limited free on-site parking (approx 14 cars). 3 floors. Modern stylish reception. Lift. Room 213 very quiet / clean / large / comfortable double bed / 2 armchairs / desk / table / wardrobe with plenty of proper hangers / bathroom with bath & separate shower / plenty hot water / tea making facilities / 32" flat screen tv. Great quirky corridors - ups & downs, lefts & rights. All staff very polite & helpful. Bistro - restaurant. Good selection at breakfast - unhurried. Evening dining reasonably priced for capital city. We will stay again on next visit.

This a great hotel, especially if you are two adults and three children. We had a great room that was clean and comfortable. A 15 minute walk to the main area of town and is across the street from a lovely park. Great place to stay, price was reasonable and the breakfast was great too. Front staff were helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel.

If you don't mind a bit of traffic noise, this Hotel was it!. I loved looking out the window to see a park across the street. We had the first floor room. Very convenient to the Lobby & Restaurant. There is no air-conditioning in this Hotel, but Edinburgh's weather is always pleasant and they provide a Fan, which helps cut down on the traffic noise. Comfortable bed, nice damask sheets and down feather pillows made for a well rested good nights sleep.

I have been staying at The Bruntsfield for some 17 plus years and after all this time the staff still epitomise the friendliness, genuine hospitality and service that attracted me to the hotel years ago. The recent refreshment of the decor has bought more light and space and a certain contemporary feel that makes a real change for the better to the ambiance. The bar and restaurant offer great choice and quality. The rooms are not modern identical boxes but well thought out spaces making the most of the space available. Really comfortable beds and linen. If only all hotels were like this for a single visit but when it is your 200th, it is really somewhere special.

We had a great room here with windows that opened to a leafy courtyard. Lots of room, very clean and well located. Staff are friendly and helpful. There's a lovely park across the road. The hotel has lots of character. It was a walk of about 15 minutes to the town centre and 30 to the castle. Cabs are cheap and plentiful. We walked all day but generally caught a cab back at no fit when we were tired. The restaurant is great with good food and friendly service. I recommend staying here !!

We stayed at this hotel for my wedding, room was outstanding fantastic bath and shower, very clean. Room was spacious. Staff where amazing and friendly and very helpful. We had our wedding here too i cannot thank all the staff for making our day so special, fiona sales manager was fantastic nothing was a problem and iain who co ordinated our wedding on the day well no words can explain how amazing he was. Food was lovely drinks lovely and service outstanding

The short distance walk to the center was very pleasant through the park. Instead of the taxi we preferred to enjoy walking through the free golf green and people having barbecue on the grass. Our room had a very high ceiling and 3 windows looking on the park. The mattress was very comfortable and the bathroom super clean. The staff is very friendly and smiling especially Sabrina. Breakfast is special with gluten free choices , fresh fruit and warm eggs cooked at the moment following our personal tastes. Scrambled with smoked salmon was our favorite. Yogurt with seeds, raisins, cranberry and nuts was superb. The restaurant in the green courtyard is a relaxing bonus after a long walk and the menu was varied and not expensive. Definitively an excellent experience

Once again very good. Stayed in the new rooms which are outstanding. Very comfortable bed, deep bath and wide shower head. Helpful friendly staff very good breakfast and hotel bar. I highly recommend this consistsntly good hotel.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this hotel. It was warm, welcoming and the location was great. It is within walking distance of the Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, the University of Edinburgh and The Meadows. The breakfast was great with the traditional Scottish Breakfast as well as several healthy options. There is convenient parking and the rooms are large and well equipped. We plan to stay here again, if we return to Edinburgh.

Just returned home from a two night stay at the Bruntsfield,I found it on Tripadvisor when looking for somewhere for my Mum and I as we'd been invited to The Royal Garden Party. I booked a twin room which was very conveniently situated just through the door from the reception.It was airy and spacious with two super comfy beds.It had everything we needed and more including a bath and shower. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and service was excellent.The bar/bistro area is cozy and modern with a lovely courtyard,garden area leading off the main dining room. The breakfast both mornings were also very good,something for everyone.The staff are very friendly and professional.The manager even took time to stop and ask how our stay was etc,not often you get that in a hotel as they are usually too busy. I'm so glad we found this little gem as I'd highly recommend it if you plan a trip to the city,Bruntsfield area has some lovely designer shops, cafes and eateries and a beautiful park across from the hotel. I for sure would definitely stay here again.

I stayed for 3 nights over the weekend. I paid £165 per night which was a bit pricy but hotel was nice. Good variety for breakfast and parking was good. Limited spaces but I got a space every day apart from the first night when there was a wedding reception (perhaps up to 20 spaces). There is also free parking across the road in the evenings and sundays. 20 minute walk from the castle and royal mile if you know the best route. I would recommend as location is good. I think further central would make parking difficult. Creaky floorboards though.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bruntsfield. It is located in the west end of Edinburgh- a beautiful part of the city with large green spaces, and ample shops and restaurants in the area. It's a nice residential area to walk in. The hotel rooms were spacious, and clean. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful with directions and restaurant suggestions. The breakfasts were very good. Thank you for the excellent service provided by all!

This hotel is a short distance from the city centre, which is easily accessible by a frequent bus service. There is a wide range of shops and bistros nearby, so you don't have to go far if you don't want to eat in the hotel. The hotel is housed in linked Victorian properties so the rooms have more character than the more modern alternatives. Having been recently refurbished, the decor is really nice. My room was more spacious than I expected and was spotless as well as comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.
