We chose to stay in this hotel overnight for its free shuttle and its convenient location next to Laguardia airport since we had early flight back to Houston. Check in was a breeze, bed was comfortable. BUT the room and the hallway were reek of marijuana smell and this was supposed to be a non-smoking room. I posted the same review comment on Expedia but they do not let me post it. I don't know why!
Do not stay at this hotel! At 3 am, the ceiling was leaking so bad, it woke me up dripping on me! I called the front desk who offered to move us at 3 am, we should pack up and go to another room just to check out at 6am? Also our first night, I asked to move rooms bc the hot water heater wasn't working properly but was immediately told they were sold out. Hmmm... I couldn't get my daughter's friend to wake up at 3am, I just told my daughter to go sleep with her and I slept on that side of the bed even though I couldn't sleep at this point, worrying if the ceiling was going to get worse and I would wake up all wet. When we got up, the window had also leaked and my suitcase was over there and all wet on the bottom and top that was open leaning against the wall. It also leaked over the desk where we had items that got wet too. I asked for compensation for one night at check out and the desk clerk said he can only give us free breakfast, I asked for the manager and he said he was the manager on duty. He made the excuse that it's raining to which I told him to fix the roof then. And he agreed yes it needed to be fixed, I mean there were buckets in the hallways and the front lobby geez. I booked through Priceline and they called the hotel who said I didn't ask for a manager so now they won't do anything at all. I told them to call the hotel back bc I DID ask for the manager and was told I was speaking to him. The hotel was impressive when we first arrived, but now it's the worst stay we've ever had.
Nice clean hotel that serves its purpose of a place to rest near the airport. The restaurant downstairs has good breakfast and dinner. And restaurant staff was very friendly. There was a bit of construction going on during our stay but didn't bother our stay. Shuttle runs every 20 min to the airport and the driver is so helpful.
This hotel was great! We had to book a last minute room here, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating about it! The room was very comfy, amenities were top notch, and their Elements Lounge was delicious. BIG shoutout to Heylix, the front desk associate who helped us. She was so very friendly and helpful. My husband and I were not having a good day, but she turned that around by letting us check in a bit early and giving us an upgraded room. Because of her we will definitely be booking here again when we come back to New York.
This was the worst hotel ever. Starting from the staff to the comfort of the bed. We got scammed by a third party when booking this telling us that we would in fact get transportation to and from hotel to JFK airport and that our parking at the hotel was included with the price of an overnight stay. Although that part was not the hotels fault we had a check in woman who when we asked about transportation to and from hotel she said yes included. It wasn't till later in the evening when we were trying to sched a pick up in the morning to get to JFK that a new person behind check in counter said that they did not offer rides to JFK only to laguradia. The mattress and pillows were as hard as a rocks. The bath room was disgustingly moldy. The restaurant food was like eating fast food. A truly horrible experience. I do not recommend this place.
The hotel room was so comfortable. Everything was clean. Great customer service from Janela that works in the front. I would come back here for sure . I will recommend this hotel to other people. Thankyou
Vanesa Elliot was so kind and went above and beyond with her customer service! She helped me with the check in process with kindness and respect she made my stay enjoyable. I had 3 rooms even though there were some authorization issues on my account I still want to stay at that hotel. Thank you, Vanessa, keep up the good work. I don't want to forget Stephanie she knows what she is doing, and she does it with confidence.
Very nice hotel, the food was delicious! The restaurant, bar and cafe were so convenient and the shuttle to/from the US Open was great. Rooms were very comfortable and clean, we also had a nice view of the city. The staff in every area , from the front desk to the shuttle drivers, were professional and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to our next stay!
This review is for parking. An absolute scam. I had a reservation made and I get there and they told me there's no parking in it on in availability basis. I mean what the hell is the point of a reservation and then they wouldn't even do anything to accommodate my inconvenience, and all the extra money I had to spend for parking in another place.
Two beds eight pillows. All feel like sleeping on rocks! No give uncomfortable. Shower takes 3 minutes and wastes gallons before getting hot. Doesn't drain so I'm standing in 3-4 inches of soapy water. Sink is no better backs up take a minute to drain. Shower head is below my neck. I'm 6'0 foot tall that's ridiculous. Toilet is so low to the ground that I'm s certain it was purchased used from a kindergarten. Window view of LGA would be great if they washed the windows every five years or so! At least the room is quiet.
Underwhelming for the price. Little choice due to airline mismanagement causing upset in travel plans. No perks at this hotel ($400+ for 1 night) Parking, breakfast, bottled water all extra $. Parking garage gate dysfunctional.
Save yourself the aggravation. We had a horrible experience from day one at this hotel. Starting with the check-in process. The front desk employee who checked us in gave us the wrong room number. We were not able to get in the room as the key was not working. I went back down to the front desk to confirm the room number because it sounded like someone was already in the room. She assured me twice that I had the right room number and advised me to be careful with my key card around my phone and credit cards as it was sensitive. I went back up and entered the room with a new key card that she issued. To my surprise there was a guest in the room. I apologized and went back down to speak with the front desk. I asked to speak with a manager and had the unfortunate chance to speak with Matthew who was the manager. He was of no help and proceeded to tell me to lower my voice three times instead of offering an apology or any kind of reassurance that this was not something that normally happens. Instead, he said the guest that was in the room was in the National Guard and most likely did not mind me walking into her room. I would have preferred him taking some accountability and offering some type of reassurance that he would ensure the guest I just walked in on was okay and that my room would not be walked into by another guest. If roles were reversed I'm sure he would have had a different opinion. I did have the pleasure of speaking with the day shift manager Vanessa who was very pleasant and assisted me. The first room we were issued was dated. The toilet was leaking and the TV was not functional. The second room was a little better but we were so annoyed with our first day that nothing could have made it better. Many of the amenities were out of order and several other guests were complaining any time I passed the lobby during my stay. Do not stay here if you have other options.
The "great:" - The hotel restaurant is excellent. Over two meals, we had 6 different entrees and all were great. Full bar and good beer selection. There are no other options within walking distance to the close hotel airports so the restaurant is a good reason to select this hotel. - Very close (across the street) from LaGuardia Airport. - Shuttle to the airport every 20 min. - Early check in compared to other hotels - 3:00 pm. We were able to get in our room at 1:30 pm. - The service. Front desk, waiters, shuttle driver, etc. - Rooms were large and comfortable. The "OK:" - The pool and tub are good but could use some refreshening ... broken drain in hot tub, maybe some new furniture, and some repainting would go a long way. Needs improvement: - The hotel caters to folks who have early flights, flight cancellations, and airline staff ... it would be great if they had coffee available in the lobby and maybe a grab and go option for breakfast for early morning travelers. - The showers are in dire need of updating. The water pressure is great but the water does not drain well so water pools and gives the appearance of being dirty. Bottom line: A solid choice for the late day flight cancellation. I would stay there again.
The front desk check in was an extremely unhelpful experience. The woman barely looked at us and would not answer our most important questions. When I called the hotel guest services to get the shuttle to pick us up from our car rental company, guest services would not tell me where to wait to be picked up —it was a large parking lot with no designated place for pick up. In the room, It was hard to find charger plugins for two people and I eventually had to unplug a lamp and refrigerator to charge my phone and watch. Cost was high for so little attention to current needs and important details
So we stayed next door (the other hotel) during a conference. Our hotel didn't have a bar. Thank God this was next door, what a great bar. Plenty of TVs to watch sports, great beer. There version of an old fashion could use some work. But, it was nice break after a day in class.
Nice hotel but our (upgraded) room was quite dated. You need to request any type of housekeeping service, which may or may not happen. Found a tooth in the room from a previous guest - makes you wonder. Breakfast is way overpriced with very slow service.
Maybe it's because the name “Plaza” carries a certain connotation, but if you are expecting a “Plaza” hotel experience…this is NOT it. It looks like the entire budget of this hotel was put into making the lobby look as nice as possible (and it is a very nice looking lobby), and that's about it. When we first arrived we were told that a king suite (which is what we had reserved) was not available, but they would put us in a two full beds room, and we can check back later in the afternoon to see if a king suite becomes available. After a long flight, my husband and I didn't care, but it was a bit of an inconvenience to pack up all our stuff and move into a new room in the same day. The rooms are…gross? Like old. Like a puke green and red color carpet with stained base boards and outlets that were definitely not secure…which I think is a fire hazard but what do I know. They have an extensive room service menu…but maybe it's because they're desperate for more money…maybe it's because it's NYC…but boy howdy was everything expensive. They also charge a MANDATORY 20% tip and $7 service fee to everything you order…so your $20 eggs and benny just became $31. The bathrooms are…bad. Never mind the low water pressure (which is to be expected in a hotel) but good luck getting even warm water. I finally found the ‘sweet spot' on the shower dial- only for it to sporadically get cold for 10 seconds before returning to warm water. If you have an upset stomach, or just need to go to the bathroom…good luck. A child's turd could clog the toilet- and the toilet paper they provide? Oh, you better believe it's single ply. The TVs in the room are, in a word, a headache. Our TV's volume was set to 100 (not an exaggeration) every single time it turned on. It didn't matter if you had turned it down to 10 before you turned it off, when you turned it back on…back to 100. And don't even think about using the ‘guide' on the TV, I made the mistake of trying to see what was on ‘TV' with the guide feature….and there was no way to turn off the guide. The remote essentially stopped working (to be fair, it seemed like it was from 2005) and we had to unplug the cable box to correct the problem. There are no microwaves in the room and our mini fridge looked like it was honestly from 1989…if mini fridges were even a thing back then. It was about 18 inches x 18 inches and just on the ground in the corner. Overall…I've had nicer stays at a Holiday Inn. I will not be staying here again.
Aneesa Watson was very most professional and efficient in our interactions. She is proficient in her job duties and the local area. Her suggestions on activities to purse was spot on and she was an amazing help
We hosted a convention at Laguardia Plaza Hotel for 200 members, and it was a great experience. The members enjoyed complimentary breakfasts, discounted parking, and a free shuttle to and from the airport. The Rooms were spotless, and the pool made the experience fun for the youngsters accompanying their parents. Regarding the convention hall, the staff (especially Pablo and Faludig) were accommodating, and both provided their contact details for direct communication. From the front desk receptionists to the IT guy, it was indeed a great experience, and we look forward to hosting another event at this hotel.
When we arrived our room was wrong, One bed 4 my family after we booked for 2 bed then we seen Leaking roofs over our make up while we were trying to get dressed. outlets in br do not work, then after a while When our room was changed it was someone else's room that we walked into(luckily no one was in there at the time), then after they gave us another room the tub drain does not go down! and the outlets in this room do not work as well. This is a horrible experience for the money we spent to stay in New york for the first time! BAD! BAD! BAD!
We stayed in room 408 for 2 nights midweek in September to see a Yankees game and a taping of a late night TV show. We used the free shuttle from the airport and to get to the subway. Shuttle will not pick you up anywhere except the airport. We spent a lot of time on public transportation to get to our events. They gave us a coupon for a complimentary breakfast at check in which was nice but odd because we we only waited a few minutes. It would have cost nearly $50 and was a nice spread. We did not use any of the hotel amenities except the shuttle and vending machines. I was surprised by how many little things in our room were broken, dirty, or just old. The luggage stand was unusable missing a bolt. The bathroom light switch was damaged. In the tub, drain pop up was messed up, the shower curtain wasn't quite wide enough, the caulking had black areas, and the tub floor wasn't as clean as it could be. We had a towel with a hole in it. Sink faucet was missing knob covers. The beds were OK but blankets are thin. Mini fridge looked like it was from my dorm in the ‘80s. Lamp between beds had a bulb burnt out and was dirty. Figured out how to get HVAC fan to run constantly to drown out the sound of neighbors having sex at 3am. Little things like no pen, pad, do not disturb sign, and only one tiny bar of soap made me feel like this place was not a 3 1/2 star hotel. Staff all seemed great and very helpful, especially the shuttle drivers But at more than $250 per night, we won't be back
This hotel is basically across the street from LGA. Complimentary van service is available. This hotel has a restaurant and the morning breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of options. They even have a coffee bar there. Bar and restaurant is available in the evening. Indoor pool was closed and appears to be permanently closed. Not much nearby other than LaGuardia Cafe restaurant which is a few blocks away.
Dirty rooms- bath tub sink he missing, sink leaking ,staff unhelp. Breakfast rest- flies, fruit rotten, milk gone off, expensive Main rest.expensive, dirty and flies No safe in hotel and in any of the othe rooms not working Far from from seeing places. Transport network poor Only drop you off at subway,no return transport. Staff don't communicate with other staff when shift changes. Messages not passed on Breakfast menu- buffet choice expensive and limited. Main restaurant- utensils that is plates forks spoons dirty. Staff unfriendly Hotel expensive for what it offers. Big difference in rooms. Had to move rooms twice as showers not working sometimes only cold water or hot - inconsistent Different .members of staff give you wrong information. There is a tour guide booth and been manned occasionally- expensive and not worth the hassle. Try to organise yourself and less expensive and convenient.
We choose La Guardia Plaza to stay for our short vacation, convenient location, nice staff from the shuttle driver to the guys at the restaurant, the only black spot was that after staying 4 nights not a single time a housekeeper came to clean the room or stock toilet paper, or clean towel, even I request it 3 times, I understand that due to a covid situation but at least remove the garbage, I had to do it myself… other than that everything else was ok.
The rooms have fresh interior finishes and bathrooms, but some of the furniture is obviously left over from pre-renovation times (like the CD player alarm clock). Service was generally friendly and effective - Shawn H. was a standout, extremely good at what he does. I'm a former architect and think the hotel's bones are terrific - the building must have cut quite a stylish figure in the late 80's when it first opened. It's still the best-designed hotel structure near LGA...however the exterior environment and public spaces could really use a refresher - at times I felt like I was in a late 90's luxury hotel in China.
I planned a trip to New York to see the Yankees in the Bronx and the Mets in Queens. After a lot of deliberation I decided to stay in Queens and wanted to find a hotel near Citi Field. I stumbled upon the Laguardia Plaza and booked it without reading the reviews. When arriving we were told we could either find a place to park on the street or utilize their parking garage for $30 per day. We decided to park in the garage but the process to do this was extremely ridiculous. After we took a ticket we had to get it validated at the front desk. This may be fine for people who don't move their car often but since we had to drive pretty much everywhere it was a HUGE hassle. We even left once without validating and had to go all the way back. The room was somewhat clean however, the mini-fridge was not on when we arrived and after plugging it in we opened it to a nasty smell and someone's used food container top. I threw it away, which may have been a huge mistake because after our first night I read the reviews and saw that this was a COVID refuge for those who tested positive after a flight. Clearly, they did not clean the fridge and when I got home I tested positive for COVID. It's hard to know whether I got it from the LaGuardia Plaza or another place but it made me nervous considering the fact the fridge was definitely not cleaned. On the flip side, the bathroom had a bottle of cleaning product wedged under the sink, which was a bit ironic. The bathroom plug did not work and was in-need of some maintenance. The pool, fitness center and business center were all closed due to COVID however, none of the employees were required to wear a mask so it's a little ridiculous to close your facilities as a "COVID precaution" when your employees don't even do the bare minimum to keep others safe. The employees themselves were usually quite friendly. We had an issue with a bartender at the restaurant and the restaurant/bar having inconsistent hours. I spoke to a front-desk clerk hoping to get a $20 bill broken so I could leave a tip for the housekeeper and the front desk clerk looked at me like I had twelve heads. I assume they don't have cash on the premises but I felt like he suspected I was asking HIM for $20, not to get my $20 broken. I do want to say I had a wonderful experience with the bus driver. While I didn't ride the bus, we spoke about the Mets while he was waiting to pick up some riders. He made the stay a little more bearable and was extremely friendly. I wish I would've gotten his name because he was so nice. Overall, I did not have a good stay here and will definitely not return. The hotel was not worth the price and definitely caused me a lot of unnecessary headaches.
We called this hotel after finding out our flight home was canceled due to weather. What a lovely hotel. We were picked up by their shuttle and only 10 minutes from LaGuardia. There were many people that evening and everyone was hungry. The Elements restaurant was very busy and there was a waitress sorry I didn't get her name. The restaurant was overwhelmed with hungry guests and they did their best to serve everyone. There was only one waitress and she kept a smile on her face and whipping around trying to keep guests happy. I commend her. She is amazing.
My daughter and I planned our evening at the ballpark around being back to the hotel before 10:30 PM to have a late dinner. The website stated under the "on-site dining" heading that the lounge was open until midnight and in-room dining was available until 11:30. When we arrived at the lounge at 10:15 we were told "We're closed" by Terrance, the bartender. When I told him about the website, he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "What do you want me to do about it?" I left a message with the manager, but as of 1 PM the next day, he hasn't replied. Expensive and inconvenient parking (a ticket must be validated at the front desk every time a guest uses their car) along with the false claims on their website, make LaGuardia Plaza a terrible place to stay.
We were given a link to a website to book this hotel after our flight was canceled, while we were at the airpot. We booked and paid for the reservation and went to the hotel. The desk staff informed the many people waiting on this long slow line that even if they booked, if it was "third party" then they may not have a reservation. Further, they used this "third party" excuse for everything, including the slowness, not providing receipts, and overall the lack of rooms even if people booked far in advance. Many people had booked weeks ago and had no rooms and had to sleep in the lobby. We got our room, and the woman who checked us in was extremely rude, and said that "third party" was not their problem, that no hotels provide receipts or guarantees with "third party." Meanwhile nobody knew this, I explained we got this link at the airport and the hotel works with these "third parties" obviously and that we paid for the room. They told us and everyone that if we had a problem we would have to contact the "third party." In the morning they struggled to call a taxi, not even knowing the numbers, and this is right next to the airpot! For nearly $300 for the one night, this was all surprising. Such an awful experience, never would we stay here again.
Today, April 9, at 5:45AM, we arrived to park our car, went in to the lobby, and found the front desk receptionist asleep on the front desk. We said hello and asked about the airport shuttle. He did not respond and seemed unwillling or unable to give us instructions on where to park. The security guard fortunately told us where to park in the garage in between the hotel and the Hampton Inn next door. No one told us the shuttle was not actually at the LaGuardia Plaza and instead needed to be picked up next door at the Hampton Inn, so we missed the shuttle and had to wait 52 minutes for the next one. We almost missed our flight because of this bad service.
The concierge service was outstanding, All of the employees were generous and accommodating, and more specifically Carolyn who works at the front desk was awesome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay close to LGA, and also looking to have a quick commute into Manhattan.
We stayed in the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel for 4 nights and it was great. The Stuff at the front desk were very helpful and understanding , the restaurant was clean and the overall service was superb . We strongly recommend the hotel to any traveler by the LaGuardia airport, which is very close to NYC.
The quality of this hotel has really gone down during our most recent visit. We have been coming to this hotel as a weekend getaway once every couple months for over three years. Customer service has always been exceptional. We love their in-room dining menu, room service, and their breakfast buffet is amazing. When attempting to order from the room service menu, they are usually very responsive. This past weekend was different. When calling at around 10:30 PM to place a room service order, we were given the runaround. We kept being told to call back in five minutes only to be redirected to guest services, to then be redirected several times with no answer. At one point when we finally got a response, we were told that room service orders can't be taken after 10:45, when the menu clearly states 11:30 PM is the latest. When we stated this, we were placed on hold yet again. This back and forth ordeal went on for about 40 minutes, so we decided to go ourselves to the Elements lounge to pick up our food, which took half an hour itself. We assumed they were just unusually busy this night. However, when attempting to place a room service order in the morning for breakfast the next morning, we came across the same issue, waiting for a very long time just to get through, no call back when we were told that we would be called, told to call back in five minutes, then left waiting yet again. We would have preferred going to the breakfast buffet, as it is usually very good. We used to get free breakfast vouchers as a perk on orbitz due to it being a VIP hotel, but we didn't get it this time. We didn't mind, but hoped their food service would have been better. I have always raved about this place due to its exceptional customer service. That was one of the main reasons we booked here. Customer service on point, pricing was always decent and customer service always went above and beyond. Not sure if we will be returning, which is unfortunate because we have always looked forward to coming here.
What an absolutely Great Place to stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Service was awesome. Have a Great dining area, and a nice quiet lounge. Shuttle every 20 minutes to the airport. Going to absolutely come back here.
Just back from a trip to NY after a long absence. Stayed at the Laguardia Plaza, where I had stayed in the past. "OUTSTANDING"!!! I returned because of good experience during past visits, but it is better than ever! In addition to great location, great price, great rooms and other amenities, the service is THE BEST!!! Personalized and friendly, everything customer service is supposed to be, TOP QUALITY! Thanks and five stars to Carollynn Mears, who makes the guests feel like they've come home, with her warm welcome and super-efficient and personal help with any and all issues that may arise. Literally made my stay feel like my home away from home. Thanks also to Carla, and the rest of the outstanding staff. I will be back!!!
