"Good average hotel with very good facilities that compensate for the remoteness."

Roland8400, Waterford, Ireland 28/02/2019

Good Pool, great fitness facilities, room ancient, but clean. I had unfortunately mold in the shower (was in room 101) with the shower-hose that doesn't fit the holder. I got, a constant strange smell of fermented Korean cabbage. The staff are very helpful, but the breakfast servers are simply not trained sufficiently - we enjoyed a sugar spender filled with salt; not the nicest experience that time of the day. Ensure you never order a taxi; the biggest rip-off on the planet ever encountered - 2km taxi ride one way €20.00 (the excuse, the taxi is coming from outside! Why weren't we told by the receptionist that kindly booked it? Overall it was still nice

"Good, poor breakfast"

Safari791957, Trencin, Slovakia 23/02/2019

Hotel was nice, good parking underground, clean rooms but breakfast was really poor. There was only bacon, tomato and eggs. I was looking for some sousages, milk, yogurth. Restaurant for dinner was good and dinner was also good, but menu was little (only 4 meals to choose).

"Swimmingpool overcrowded by locals"

Navigator43720418952, Brussels, Belgium 18/01/2019

I do not recommend. The swimmingpool is basically for locals. During my business trips I have been staying at this hotel for 5 years. The quality is going down. The breakfast used to have fish, salmon now not anymore. Oatflakes I am requesting for years, nothing offered. The worst is that they publish to have a wellness area with a pool, but in reality the locals are occupying the pool in the morning already from 6:45 and the business traveler hotel guests are excluded and cannot swim. In October 2018 I wrote a letter to the manager for asking to solve the problem and do not let locals in at least until 7:45 during the 3days of the Strasbourg plenary sessions. He promised to find a solution but he has never done anything, he just prefers the comfort of locals over that of hotel guests! Bad management! I do not recommend this hotel!!!

"Doesn't Deserve it's 4 stars"

User 23/08/2018

Most staff was really nice, but one lady with black hair was extremely rude to us. At the bar and during dinner she seemed unhappy to be there and didn't understand what service was. We had to leave our table to go look for a waiter every time because they will leave the area and all stay back in the kitchen up to 15 minutes at a time after 8. This became very annoying and when you stood up to look for them the lady with the black hair became visibly annoyed. I'd understand if a customer was being rude that a staff member could behave this way, but I was a respectful and as kind as possible and maintained this behaviour at all times, but she was always rude. After asking her to pour to cocktails politely she replied with loudly saying "What!" I then replied the name of the cocktail again and then she said "no, what room!" I stated the room number and then she started preparing the cocktails. I happen to be dutch and I speak english with an american accent. She didn't expect me to understand german, but I could, I just can't speak it. She then starts complaining about the guests and myself ordering drinks so late to her colleague in German, probably thinking I can't understand it, even though the hotel advertises the bar being open until this time. She then hands me the drink and I smile and say thank you and then she sarcastically smiles back and says goodbye. This is just one example of the multiple unfriendly encounters with this lady. The rooms also smelled of urine sometimes, for the rest the food was decent and the sleep was okay. I can't complain about that.

"Bad service!"

NicoleDH18, The Hague, The Netherlands 22/08/2018

When we arrived there was no one at check in. Went for a drink first, took our suitcases with us. Next day we had dinner, which was nice. But then we wanted to pay the bill, again no one in the restaurant. We waited 15 min, other guests were asking us if we've seen staff. No one showed up after waiting and calling for someone. Then we left a note with what we had for dinner, our name and room number. The next morning someone from the staff came up to us during breakfast, accusing us we had left without paying and everybody looked up! Totally not called for and we're shocked! Never again!

"Decent hotel"

Hiremath U, Hamburg, Germany 28/07/2018

The hotel shares the building with a hospital. The rooms are spacious for a family of 4. The swimming pool is quite nice. Two let downs: Rooms didn't have AC, but the hotel staff gave us fans. Breakfast not quite up to the mark - breads were not fresh. Nevertheless a good value for your money.

"Very Nice"

John D, Newcastle, Australia 11/12/2017

A bit out of the way for those without private transport but a lovely hotel with very good sized rooms well finished in a modern decor. The breakfast was very pleasant as well with a good choice of cold food and limited hot. A comfortable stay.

"Comfortable & quiet"

Quest803662, Wollongong, Australia 05/12/2017

Nice stay at this hotel for only 1 night as part of a Cosmos tour of Germany. Very large rooms, consisting of a living area, bedroom and bathroom. Big TV was on a hinged bracket so that you could swivel the TV either facing the living area of the bedroom area. Breakfast had reasonable variety and served buffet style. It is a fair way out of town. So, just as well we had an included dinner at the hotel. If you had your own car, this hotel would serve as a great base to explore the surroundings over a couple of days. A couple of negatives: Didn't like the liquid soap dispensers instead of a complimentary bar of soap. Also, you would have to be over 6' to use the shaving mirror.

"Excellent hotel, very quiet."

DonkArizona, Arizona 23/10/2017

Wish we could have stayed longer at this hotel. It was in a very quiet location and we were able to open the windows for fresh air and not hear anything. The rooms were huge, with a separate seating area from the beds. There was also a separate sink outside the bathroom with a refrigerator. The bathroom was also very large with a nice walk in shower. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both had a large selection of good food. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

"Nice hotel with one really unfriendly staffmember..."

User 23/07/2017

The hotel is nice, especially the wellness center. The breakfast and dinner are very good, but it would be better if cold food would be in ice to keep it cold... Sometimes the cold food is getting warm in the summer days... The staff members are friendly, but there is a lack of them. I can see why: one of them chases the others away. A girl with black hair is very rude: she would not talk properly or politely when I asked her if the damage to the boiler could be repaired and she reacted disgusting when I asked her at 22.30 if I still could have a drink at the bar. She was unfriendly and told me that she was not planning to make cocktails. It made me go back upstairs. It made me sad, because I saved my money for this vacation and this 'lady' does not want to take care of her guests... The other staff members are quite friendly. Especially the cooks, the chef and the waiters.

"???? ??? ??????"

User 08/07/2017

My wife and I visited the wine region in Gemenia and France and chose to sleep in the town of Dorbach at the Best Western Hotel, the hotel is very clean and the location is good, excellent breakfast Too bad there is no air conditioning in the hotel, it is very important for the summer months

Dirk H, Manager at Best Western Plus Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, responded to this review
Thank you very much for your kind feedback! As our building is 20 years old, we don't have an air condition. We try to do our best to keep the guest rooms cool by using the outdoor jalousies. With best regards, Dirk Hetzer General Manager

"Top notch accomodation"

Dave H, Newcastle, United Kingdom 31/05/2017

This big hotel is located right on the edge of this small town and we spent a night here on a tour of Germany. It has an indoor pool, lifts to all floors and free Wi-Fi in the rooms. We did not notice any eating places or supermarkets in the immediate vicinity but that is not so say there weren't any in the middle of town about a mile away. We had room 227 which was enormous and was more like a suite. The lounge area had a sofa and easy chair, a desk & chair and a coffee table. The bedroom area was equally as big with twin beds. In separate lobby was kitchen with taps, a sink and tea and coffee making facilities. A wardrobe type unit offered plenty of storage but there was no cooker or cooking equipment. It did not have a fridge or a safe nor was there A/C. The windows had wind down blinds to keep out the sun during the heat of the day. It worked as the room was nice & cool when we arrived around 6.30pm. The bathroom was a wet room style with a shower but no bath and a hairdryer. Dinner was buffet style with a good choice on offer. The hot options were veal, fish and Spag bol with pasta and a big tray of mixed veg. The cold options were cold meats and salad. There was 6 options incl fruit and ice cream to finish off with. The food on offer was very good and most enjoyable. A fairly standard breakfast of cereal, juice, cold meats cheese and yoghurt was supplemented by bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and HB eggs. Plenty to go round and enough to set you up for the day. We found this hotel very comfortable and the room size quite staggering. We had no issues whatsoever and would happily recommend this place to all for a long or short stay.

"What a lovely hotel"

Tracy N, Cardiff, United Kingdom 28/09/2016

We stopped of here on our way to Italy, a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting, we had a lovely view of the local vineyards from our room, the room was spacious and very modern with all amenities and a lovely large wet room, the food was delicious and reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Secure car parking is also available and free wifi too. Another good hotel from the best western group.

Chris P, Chester, United Kingdom 19/09/2016

This hotel was clearly a converted hospital and our room was a side ward all to ourselves. We had a reception area, kitchenette, wet room and two bedrooms. Basic but serviceable furnishings. Clean and well serviced. Free wifi was good and the hotel has a pool and fitness suite. Food was rather unimaginative, an evening buffet was very restricted but well prepared. Breakfast a basic continental breakfast which would have been perfectly acceptable if staff had serviced the buffet tables efficiently. I've stayed in a lot worse.

"No more"

Libor U, Brno, Czech Republic 24/07/2016

We was there for one night but we wasn´t happy with this stay. For one or two night may by for longer stay - no. Room was big but in bathroom smell, room bad furnished - like some simply pension or 2-3 stars hotel. Breakfast chaotic - poor choice meals, staff by breakfast without interest, we must ask for all (coffe, glass..) Furniture in dinnig room for breakfast is old old - see foto. We don´t visit sauna and pool.

John C, Basel 27/05/2016

Stopped over on the way to Lugano, great rooms, great food and great service. Located in a very pretty wine valley lovely to walk into. We tried the local Riesling - wow what a wine All that for around 110 euros. We will plan a two night stopover next time

"Calm hotel but for travellig by car"

Jerzy J, Poland 27/07/2015

Nice, calm hotel in a heart of Shwarzwald mountains. Very nice nearby towns, villages and other places of interest. Free parking is a big advantage, very good and rich breakfast, opportunity to use spa, etc. Unfortuanately, the rooms do not offer any appliances i.e. electric kettle, kaffee maker, etc.

"Rooms are big but feels like a hospital"

nadro2010, New York City, New York 11/01/2015

This hotel was a rehabilitation hospital. It had been converted to an European four star resort. The staff is courteous and professional. The hotrl is clean. The rooms are big, the only problem is the bathroom. The bathrooms have a hospital feel to it. There is not a regular shower. The hotel possesses a wellness area. The swimming pool is small and extremely filled with people from 45 yesrs old plus. The gym is big and the massage area is nice as well. The 4 restaurants are cozy and traditional. The portuguese working staff are filled with knowledge and are very professional

"Nice location amongst the wineries"

KellyF10, Toronto, Canada 18/12/2014

Big hotel and large you impression that this may have been a hospital at one time. Located close by to Strasbourg, Heidelberg and Freiburg. Short drive to Baden-Baden. Good hotel with all of the services.

"Not bad but good be better"

Zabie67, Rottweil, Germany 22/07/2014

I was able to get an online deal for an "apartment room" at this hotel, about 82 EUR per night including breakfast. The hotel is clean, there is a huge swimming pool, very clean, also used for a fitness package for residence (check out pool hours). However, if you go on during a very hot season, prepare to sweat. There is no air circulating in the rooms, and as a result, the bathroom shower smells a bit (we got a room without a bathtub). You can keep the windows open, but then you hear the noise from the terrace where people sit outside to have their drinks. Parking is included (two decks) and it keeps the car cool. The playground is a catastrophe, but I don't think the hotel clientele is usually families. They should spruce it up a bit. I would have like to give 3 1/2 stars but that was not possible.
