Best Western Dundee Woodlands Hotel

Just back from another weekend stay at this awesome Hotel. Lovely Hotel, great food, friendly helpful curtious staff. 1st time in the Abercrombie Suite Section, beautiful large room etc. Lovely location. with a nice walk along the sea front in to Broughty Ferry.

Really enjoyable stay, staff did all they could as well anytime we needed help and they were very decent about us leaving the car at the hotel for the day as we checked out. And even gave us a later checkout date. The staff and the rooms, I couldn't complain about. Spa and pool were fine and you got what you paid for. The only complaint, sadly, was being served up a pizza described as Tandoori chicken and onions. with the onions thrown on at the last minute and the pizza itself resembling something out of a box from the local Co-Op. I was surprised that this was collected and I was still charged the full price for it, but you live and learn. It was a deplorable meal and people I've shown this to have agreed it's on a par with something from a local supermarket. Away from that, the breakfast was excellent. So while we never went back for dinner, breakfast was unmissable.

Lovely comfortable room with lovely thistle decor. Great shower with lots of hot water. Great selection for breakfast. Staff friendly and welcoming. Swimming pool and gym on site. Well stocked bar. Don't park under the trees our car went from blue to white overnight.

I stay here every week and I have never been disappointed. As I am travelling solo, I mostly get room service and the food is absolutely delicious delivered promptly and with a smile. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom has a great walk-in powerful shower. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous.

Visited this hotel on a number of occasions and always enjoyed our visits. On this occasion, we were in Room 122. The mattress on the double bed is the most uncomfortable I have ever had. No padding and springs into every part of your body when trying to sleep. Woke up both mornings having hardly slept and body aching due to the discomfort of the inadequate mattress (my husband and I are not overweight). On a positive, the staff were lovely and the breakfast selection was very good & quality products for the hot food. Will reconsider alternative hotels if visiting the area again. Two nights away, with limited sleep due to mattress quality was unfortunately not our idea of a good w/end away.

Booking was for bed and breakfast but enjoyed our evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Food is well presented and freshly prepared. Good choice at breakfast time. Love the quiet setting, and its easy to park at the hotel. My husband always looks forward to using to leisure facilities

My room was comfortable and clean. Plenty cupboard space. Iron and ironing board in room too. Tea and coffee making facilities. Dressing table area with hairdryer and mirror a bonus. Fantastic buffet style breakfast and evening meal was absolutely delicious. Comfortable bar/lounge area. Fantastic leisure facilities that I made great use of. Staff throughout were very friendly and accommodating! I hope to return!

Just stayed two nights at Woodlands on a break deal. It included room upgrade to The Wyldes executive room which was huge and extremely comfortable. From arrival the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food and selection at breakfast and dinner was excellent. We enjoyed the leisure facilities, which are good value at £10pp for your whole stay. Handy location for Dundee city, Broughty Ferry town and the general area. Difficult to find fault with our stay and would recommend and return.

We initially booked two nights DB&B. I phoned a few days before our Friday visit to organise a third night, using the Woodlands Hotel number itself and was not asked whether I wanted DB&B or B&B, thus I assumed I had booked room only. On arrival, I was charged for an additional night of DB&B. I was informed I had made the additional booking through Best Western itself, though what difference that should make is beyond me. The room was clean but the shower curtain had a nasty, all-pervading damp smell and we had to ask the following day to have it changed, which happened promptly. Another negative – being there to relax, we didn't vacate the room before 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and the room was never attended to in the afternoons. We didn't mind asking for a fresh towels but would have hoped for a linen change and bathroom cleanse on one of the days. The dinner experience was not good. We felt chastised by a server, who made virtually no eye contact, for arriving 8 minutes late. It was a late sitting but before the 20:45 cut-off - if you can't offer pleasant service to the very end of the dining time, make the cut-off time earlier. The menu used to be interesting - it now has items such as macaroni cheese and scampi, which makes it akin to a pub menu. It also used to change every night, otherwise I would definitely not have booked two nights for dinner, let alone three. For a starter, I had the smoked salmon and salmon mousse; the smoked salmon was lovely (not too salty), and I commented on this to the server, which elicited no comment at all from her and again, no eye contact. I had the sea bass for the main and asked for it to be cooked very lightly; it was overcooked. Needless to say, I informed reception staff that we would not be dining there on Saturday and Sunday - there was no offer of a refund then or later in the stay. Breakfast was nowhere near as good as it used to be – I had it ranked second of all hotel breakfasts I had. Fewer choices - there used to be a menu with kippers, smoked salmon, etc, and my personal favourite, the red and black berry medley, is no longer. Staff attitudes varied, with one being a bit grumpy, one young lad being very good but needing to develop confidence. Not particularly attentive - if anything, most of the staff avoided eye contact and were more concerned with re-setting tables. We have visited this particular hotel on about five occasions in the past, partly because it had a swimming pool and leisure facilities. These used to be free and, although I didn't grudge the £10 per stay fee to use them (I appreciate costs have risen everywhere and this probably explains the change of menus), in addition to the above, it didn't help. On the basis of this (the dinner and breakfast experiences mainly), we won't be back. I should add that the housekeeping, reception and leisure staff were very helpful and friendly.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. The pool and hot tub was a winner for my 11 year old daughter. Breakfast was good and served at a reasonable time. Our room was quiet and adequate for our needs.

Warm Hotel with a warm welcome . I was worried about the Hotel being cold due to cost cutting but I needn't have worried ! The whole hotel was cosy and welcoming . All the staff were great and very friendly and professional . The food was perfectly cooked both Breakfast and Dinner . I have a family member who is gluten intolerant, I always check out menus for when they visit . The Woodlands caters fully for gluten free - not just deducting items . I would still advise them in advance of dietary needs . Only fair in my opinion as gf foods are more expensive and no one wants waste . We used the swimming pool and as I'm not a confident swimmer , I was delighted that the pool is 1.2m all over. The jacuzzi was lovely . The gym looked very well equipped . The hotel and all its facilities are immaculate . If a good view is important to you I would request this but might be a premium room . Our view didn't matter as the weather was bleak so we used the pool and sat in the comfortable lounge . We would definitely return .

This is our 4th stay at Woodland in 12 months, it's a great location for visiting Broughty Ferry and Dundee. The rooms are large and well decorated, our en-suite was excellent. We always include breakfasts and use of the leisure facility in our booking as it's such good value

Stayed here for four days and had a private birthday party in the Library. Staff could not have been more helpful when booking and service on the day was perfect, They serve a great breakfast with options for certain things made to order. Dinner menu in very good too. We have stayed her on many occasions for short and longer stays. Easy access to Broughty Ferry and a few minutes drive to Dundee center. Rooms are a good size Double and King beds and staff will always try and accommodate any requests.

Excellent hotel in nice area, close to public transport, ɓreakfast and dinner in the hotel were very good and great service from all staff, well stocked bar and reasonably priced. King sized room was in very good condition and well looked after. We will have no problem returning to hotel in future

We had many friends and family staying at the hotel who had all attended our party in the function suite. Service, rooms, food were all spot on. Fantastic value for money. Special me ton yo the function staff who made sure there was never a queue at the bar and that the buffet was constantly replenished. Their great service massively contributed to us all having a fantastic time.

Breakfast and staff good. Problems with faulty heating and very noisy radiator. Cleaning could have been better. Our family has attended events here for decades. With some investment it could be very good.

Hotel is in good location , quiet but within reach of many places. There is alsoa nearby bus service and train service leaving from centre of the village.Excellent staff, good food and good value rooms. Good keep fit facilities available for a reasonable daily amount.

Our first visit this year and we missed being there. Our second year here for new year celebrations and it didn't disappoint. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Looking forward to next years party . The food was great as always. The only slight difference to last year was the DJ. Last years had a better mix of ceilidh and disco, but it didn't spoil anything.

Stayed 2 nights for the New Years Shindig party. Great hotel with lovely staff, all so friendly! What a great party night , well organised and food excellent. We would defo recommend and go back!

We have had two night's enjoyable stay in this hotel. Booking and check in were easy and efficient. Our room was king size with a comfortable bed and very nice walk in shower which I'd requested. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy, in fact the whole place was. On the first night we had a meal which was very good from a comprehensive menu. Breakfast was very good too with plenty of choice. I found all the staff friendly, welcoming and obliging. Well done to all.

Where do I start. I am disabled and was allocated a room on the third floor with no lift - I walk with a stuck. Then had to accept a room on first floor and no offer of help with luggage or indeed care if I could manage. No soap in shower, phone did not work, Wi-Fi did not work, room had bee cleaned with dirty mop……need I go on, it was awful and reception staff were at best condescending and rude. Complained and still await a response 3 weeks later from the Director! - says it all!

My son and daughter in law had their wedding here,first and I think most Importantly the staff were amazing from start to finish nothing was a problem also rooms were lovely, food was superb and we all had an amazing day/night,breakfast in the morning was excellent definitely 10/10

The hotel was just fine but our booking was spoiled by five attempts to enquire about adding two guests for dinner. First we were told contact Best Western then told it was NOT Best Western. Just three disabled bays frequently abused by Blue Badge Cheats. An after taste on a lager with lime met with shrugged shoulders at payment. One receptionist unbelievably unwelcoming.

Was here in march for my birthday and we loved it so much we came back for a short break, hotel is lovely clean and the staff are all friendly.Broughty ferry just a short walk is also lovely and hotel is in a lovely quiet location.

Booked for a meal before an event at the hotel. The meal was lovely and although staff busy that didn't detract from our meal. We read on here it was expensive, I need to add it is certainly not expensive, £16 for a main course that was this good was not expensive, £8 for dessert is average and it was very good and home made. We got married here 20 years ago and the good is still as good. We aren't local to the hotel now, we live an hour away but we will be trying to make a trip back more often as it is a great hotel with a warm welcome and holds a special place for us. Keep up the good work.

Great few days away..nice relaxed atmosphere my room was an accessible room as walking not great,so made my stay easy and very comfortable..nice large bed which wasn't too high to get in and out of and very comfortable..highlight of the stay was the food!..it was so good and great value for money!..nothing too fancy and all beautifully cooked..would definitely return here again..very handy for visiting so many great places too!..well done Woodlands Hotel..staff helpful and friendly too..

We have just returned from a 2 night stay with dinner on the first night and breakfast on two mornings, booked through my hotel break website. What a lovely hotel, clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly, always a smile and a hello. The room is large enough with a large bed, no air con but a fan is provided. A coat rack or a few hooks would be a great addition to the room, as there was no where to hang coats/jackets up but inside the wardrobe not ideal when they are wet. The bathroom has a large walk in shower, body wash/soap is provided., large towel, and a heated towel rail, ideal for drying or swim wear off. Dinner on our first night was lovely and tasty. The breakfast is buffet style and plenty of choice...nice to see tattie scones included. They have leisure facilities available at an extra cost. We paid £10 each for 2 night stay and think it was worth it. There is a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym. These facilities are also open to residents of the area too, and we had a lovely conversation with one lady who uses them weekly. The hotel is situated within a housing scheme, but is secluded.

One night stay as art of a wedding package. Check in quick and efficient. Staff very welcoming. Room reasonably sized. Clean. Everything required avaiable/working although was over the bath shower. Breakfast was very good with cooked, hot options excellent. Discounted wedding party rate welcome but felt drink prices little on high side. Would stay again.

Great night away. Reception staff first class as always. Evening meal was lovely and breakfast was excellent. We were in one of the rooms recently refurbished and it was nice. Special mention to the large lighted mirror in the bathroom.

Quick summary: resort-style hotel with pool and spa. Rooms are mostly comfortable, but with no AC, you might avoid hot weather periods. Wi-Fi good in rooms, less so in public areas. Very good restaurant and bar on site. We stayed four nights in room 218 as a base to explore the area. The king bed was very comfortable. Pillows a bit hard but okay. Desk with a few drawers, but no chest. Only one luggage rack available. Coffee/tea maker and iron/board in room. Unlike many BW properties in the USA, no fridge, microwave. Bathroom has a roomy shower. Shower gel/shampoo provided, but no body lotion, conditioner, etc., I.e. bring your own. Complimentary Wi-Fi worked well in the room, but less so in the public areas. No AC. I know that this part of the world does not usually get very hot, but it did the days we were there. ‘Also: I don't like icebox cold rooms. But the AC would have been welcome, even as it cooled off a bit in the evening. Just sayin. We often find the duvets too warm, and especially in these circumstances. Our usual trick: take the duvet out of the slipcover, and use the slipcover as a top sheet. Spotless housekeeping. The on-site restaurant is quite good, with very reasonable prices (many mains in the high-teens pounds, including starch and veg. Nice range to please most tastes, I.e. meats, fish, vegetarian, burgers, wood fired pizzas. We had fish, a chicken dish, burgers…. Nice wines by the glass and bottle, as well as beers, cocktails. Again, very reasonable prices. Very good breakfast buffet and cooked-to-order options. If we lived in the area, we'd probably be regulars at the bar and restaurant. The bar and outdoor terraces were also very pleasant places to be. Excellent service throughout. While everyone was friendly and professional, you will be in especially good hands if Steven is your server or on deck somewhere. Many thanks also to Jess. Complimentary parking. We'd be happy to return, but avoid the hottest times of year.

I recently stayed with a group of 14 golfers whilst on a trip to play at St Andrews, and this hotel had everything we needed. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, however a bottle of water/cold drink would have been a nice touch. The breakfast was a buffet style with a good selection of hot and cold food, I've had better but it was nice enough. We had dinner both nights of our stay which again, was nice enough. The pate I had the first night was a bit disappointing as it appeared to have come out of a “Mr Whippy” machine, with a texture more like soft ice cream than pate. The rest of the meal was ok, and the friendly waiting staff made up for a disappointing starter. I'd stay again but would maybe try a local restaurant for dinner

The venue has so much potential and is in a great location with lovely grounds. But so much of it feels really dated and just needs to look a little more modern. Rooms are good, value is OK. Bed felt a bit flimsy. Breakfast is way overpriced.

First time at the woodlands hotel but definitely not our last. Beautiful hotel clean everywhere. Staff were lovely. Food was great. The room was spacious and very warm great location buses run at bottom of hill into town but takes you 30 minutes to walk

Overnight stay with breakfast and evening meal - very comfortable and friendly hotel in a fairly central location but feels very secluded as it's surrounded by trees. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a base to visit the Broughty Ferry area. Only one issue and this will only affect a very few people. The room had recently been renovated and there were no power points on the side of the room where the beds are. I have sleep apnea and can stop breathing in my sleep so I have to use a CPAP device to breath for me. Fortunately I had an extension cable in my car and I was able to run it from the far wall to my bed so I could plug it in but it did create a trip hazard. Perhaps when renovating other rooms in the future the hotel could consider a power point on the bed side to cater for the rare individual like myself.

I have used the Woodlands Hotel for the past 21 years when staying in Broughty Ferry. That in itself should speak volumes about the Staff and the Hotel. The service is always excellent, and it's always a pleasure to see the owner every year. She does an amazing job. I have already booked for next year.

Spa is tiny, dirty and smells. My 12 year old said the water smells of tomato soup. There were old plasters floating, dirty steam room. The ceiling was full of brown water stains. Also no towels. The changing room showers were a joke. Disgusting

The entire stay exceeded my expectations & is Great Value for the room rates with Leisure Facilities Liked · Lovely Room that was very spacious, Leisure Facilities were superb with a good size pool & fantastic Jacuzzi/Hot Tub, Sauna & Steam Room was nice but could get quite cramped with more than 5 persons in them. Restaurant was nice albeit quite a limited menu & fairly high prices. Disliked · Enjoyed my stay here, but as others have mentioned it is a fair bit away from the centre of Dundee so a Car is essential. In retrospect I would have preferred to have eaten out as the Restaurant Food was pricey & was a fairly limited choice.

I think this was our 4th stay at the Woodlands hotel and again it did not disappoint. As always the food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and modern and the bed really comfy. Leisure facilities are really good and well maintained . Can't wait to return.

Great independent hotel with great food and excellent staff who always help when required. Stayed for a week in the end and reception were so helpful booking us in for extra days. You can walk to the beach in a few minutes with Broughty Ferry is a very short drive and 5/10 minutes takes you into the heart of Dundee. Would recommend this hotel.

Staff friendly and helpful. Extra shout out to aiden at breakfast He helped me. Immensely. As am disabled. Was grateful breakfast. Choice minimal but satisfying and tasty On the sad other hand. Cleaning could be. A bit better there was like biscuit in carpet beside window. Not a good sleep. With having bad legs as mattresses needing replaced. A bit sunken and you can feel the springs. Also. Bed rattly Apart from that enjoyed my stay

Booked a room at short notice direct with the hotel and had a nice clean room with all the requirements needed. We were bed,breakfast only and went in to town for a meal although there is a nice bar area and restaurant in the hotel. Went for breakfast and it was fantastic? You can order various items from the menu or help yourself from the buffet that has almost everything you'd want. Thanks to the lady who served us breakfast as she was very helpful and we would have no hesitation staying here again.

Visited the woodlands hotel on 21/07/23 on a DBB basis. Staff at reception were good no issues. Room was really good, modern with large shower. Very clean also. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty choice and bacon and sausage were good standard. They'll make mostly anything you want in addition to the buffet. That's all the pros now the cons. Hotel is a good half an hour walk from the town centre. Not an issue for us but if you're not up to that sort of trek it might be an issue. Is on a bus route so that's an option. The included dinner was I'm afraid pretty woeful. I'm not expecting Michelen star but this was bland and clearly out a freezer. Very poor. My wife had a steak which was a £8 supplement and that too was of very poor quality. Also don't park your car anywhere near a tree as the birds have a field day defecating on your car. All in all good as long as you go bed and breakfast and don't mind a bit of exercise.

This was another repeat stay at the Woodlands. It was room only this time and on the whole it was fine though the bed was very soft for our liking. The only quibble was on departure there was a very young girl on reception(blonde hair) who didn't have a clue and couldn't answer our queries or the other guest next to us. Gave a very bad impression-should have an experienced staff member on the front desk.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely decor. The room was big, comfy bed. Fan in room good idea. Plenty of plug sockets and lights. Bathroom big with powerful shower, plenty hot water. Only negetive, the towels smelt like cooking, like they'd been stored near kitchen? Lovely visit and location

Great hotel with excellent rooms restaurant facilities and parking. Staff are all very polite and efficient and they do a great breakfast. Only 1 flaw is the free WiFi which is terrible 0.1 on download speed, unacceptable in 2023. Get itt sorted and I'd give you a 5 *

Disgusted to find dried blood on my sheets and dirty pillow cases. No atmosphere in the dining room, no tablecloths. Food was good but waitresses and waiters moving tables around us while we were eating, switching off the music and some lights making us feel very uncomfortable. No fan in my room, when I went to the desk to ask for one the lady on the desk was talking to, I assume one of the cleaners. I waited for at least two minutes whilst they chatted. Doors at the hotel we very hard to close and banged very loudly when they did. Over all it was a very disappointing stay.

Great hotel - rooms large and comfortable. Leisure facilities are good and worth paying the small extra charge for. Good sauna and steam room! Only negative re the room was that we were placed next to an interconnecting room an could hear every word they said! Woke us up in the morning. Only there for 2 nights though so not worth moving. 15 min walk down to the front at Broughty Ferry. Would stay again.

Myself, my husband , my mum and a friend all booked to stay here Friday 30th June for 2 nights, bed and breakfast. Grounds, absolutely beautiful and plenty of car parking paces. Reception, met by the wonderful Julie and Darren who got us all checked in very quickly, each room had 2 cards each. Rooms…our room was a king and it was massive, beds extremely comfortable and shower was strong which is always something I like. There is an iron board, iron, kettle etc and have to say it was a beautiful room. Restaurant… we decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night and the food was just amazing, very fresh, plenty on our plates, so good in fact we booked to eat on the 2nd night too. Very reasonable priced too, we bought one of Redwoods lifetime cards which cost £10 and this gave us 10% off meals , the fact this is a lifetime card is really well worth it as it paid for itself pretty much after the first meal. Breakfast…. Plenty to choose from here, yogurts muffins, croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, juices all of the usual plus all that is needed for your cooked breakfast too, if you want anything made by the chef from the menu you can get this done too…… I have to say there is absolute nothing that we would have changed about our stay at this beautiful hotel, the staff were all lovely too and a credit to the management here. Special mention to Julie for making our 1st stay here a great one and we will definitely be back.

Our visit was to go to the Tattoo and that was amazing.Definetly a must for anyone.This hotel was not far from a beach which we visited and at the end is a castle which was very interesting with the history of it and the area.My husband was talking to a gentleman there about Barry Buden as he was stationed there with the Army for a spell,and the staff found it very interesting too hear about it.Would definitely go back to see the Tattoo.Visited Edingburgh Castle and Holyrood where we had lunch in the tearoom.Brilliant time.

Best wee hotel in the toon. Wonderful staff that make you feel like part of their family , nothing I too much trouble. Food is excellent very clean. Pool am all but perfectly funtionl Lovely little garden with pergola. I cannot recommend enough. Beds are excellent just ont want to get out of them in the morning! Close to the beautiful castle and no more then 10 mins by car from Dundee centre wher the wonderful V and A and the Discovery are, with an array of amazingly gorgeous shops are The beach is beautiful too.it's not Bonnie Dundee for nothing!!! The pillows are stained and so are the bed sheets... the air-conditioning did not work and when we reported it nothing was done. We asked for a bigger room as small doubles are incredible small but there would be a charge despite things in the room not being correct. Everything is an extra, the pool and gym, room service and breakfast is not worth the money

We were looking for a hotel from which we could explore some of Fife and Angus for 2 days. We chose Woodlands Hotel because it has a pool and had so many good reviews. We were not disappointed, infact we have been delighted with the whole experience. Our room was spotless; roomy; warm; and had all the accessories you would expect. On our first evening we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant and we enjoyed the meal so much that we had dinner there the next night, and again, it was lovely. Every member of staff we spoke to was pleasant and helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as comfortable as possible. My wife requested a softer pillow and, when we returned from our travels, there it was. She was delighted. This was our first stay at the Woodlands hotel but it won't be our last. There is still so much more to explore in the area and this is the ideal hotel from which to do it.

My wife and I visited the hotel for a midweek break this week, on arrival we were checked in promptly and was allocated room 202 in the Abercromby wing. The room was nice with a large comfortable bed, we did have a slight issue which was dealt with promptly by the hotel duty manager. As part of the deal we had a two course meal on the first evening with breakfast each morning. Overall the food was satisfactory but could have been better with more of a homemade influence. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return again.

Fantastic staff very helpful. Darren on reception was brilliant. Would recommend 100%. Beds very comfortable, dinner was amazing. Thanks for your hospitality. Will definitely be coming back next year.

Amazing Ground floor Accessible room. Comfortable superking size bed. Food was of excellent quality and quantity. Staff extremely attenuative and very helpful as always. We had a couple of lovely walks along the seafront to Monifeith and Broughty Ferry. For us as a family the hotel is excellent. The pool especially good for both my wife with disability and our 11 month old baby. Very relaxed 3 day stay.

This was a very good deal for our festive break. The hotel room was very clean, staff very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Organisation of the Hogmanay dance was excellent. The DJ played an eclectic mix of music which included a few Scottish tunes so that some Scottish Country dances could be done. The DJ had the volume spot on for dancing and for those not dancing able to chat at the table. The young children who were there seemed to enjoy the occasion just as much as the adults. I would recommend this hotel for a break wether for pleasure or business.

Great couple of days away for NYE - good food and accommodation and the staff were really great - is def at the higher end of a 3 star hotel - maybe a little dates but shouldn't put you off staying staff were friendly and nothing was ever an issue - would highly recommend staying at the woodlands -

Staff are very attentive and the facilities are brilliant and food is amazing, the pool is great and the rooms are very clean. The location is ideal also and free parking. Could happily stay a while week!

Stayed on Saturday, 17th December. Had a voucher as a gift, overnight stay, evening meal, and breakfast included. Hotel was lovely, clean and room was spacious. Our Evening meal was terrible. I ordered Chicken Escalopes, they were like something you would buy from a freezer shop. Definitely not fresh Chicken but something that was ground together to look like it. Husband had the Turkey which was only slightly better. I had Lemon Tart for pudding which was the best part of the meal. Breakfast next morning, cold plates so by the time you got back to your seat it was cold. Definitely won't be back to this Hotel which is a shame as we like Broughty Ferry.

Lovely hotel only a ten minute walk to the town centre. All of the staff were everything you want....helpful, professional and friendly. Hotel is spotless, room was great, bar area cosy and the food excellent. Would highly recommend booking the restaurant as it`s really good value. Can`t understand other reviews saying anything negative although we did see a couple getting very annoyed about the size of their table for 2 at breakfast, apparently it was too small........really !!!

Went there with my partner to get engaged. Great service started before arrival. They arranged an amazing room, decorations and made sure everything would be perfect for our stay. The menu was unbelievable, especially for my gluten free partner. Breakfast was great too. Nice bar for a cosy drink. Every member of staff treated us well. Thank you.

DO NOT USE, My experience of this hotel has always been awful, Starting with my Wedding reception being there, I had my Gifts and Money behind the Desk as you walk in and Money and items were stolen, When i advised the staff i was met with do you have proof and a shrug of the shoulders, Fast forward to a wedding i attended this year People putting out lines of Cocaine in the toilets a staff member seen this and laughed , Shocking, I have had another ongoing issue with this hotel and this is the last straw so decided to write my first review ( trip advisor next and anyone that will listen) Emails back and forward to the Director (seems nice enough) however wont answer basic questions makes statements without checking facts and quite frankly employs lairs, when asked to address this ignores the request. So if you want poor service an owner who does not care, class A drugs and your gifts stolen this is the place for you ,

Room was covered in dog hairs so made us wonder what else had been missed. Also phoned up prior to stay to book restaurant but told couldn't accommodate us as we were an 8 so had to go out. My mother was celebrating her 80th. Then on the 2nd night we were told we c could have had anytime. Really poor as my mother struggles with mobility.

Would definitely stay here again! Although the bedrooms were small and the hotel old it was very clean the food lovely and all the staff very friendly and helpful - particularly Julie and Dahren in reception - lovely people!!!!

Stayed overnight, bedrooms was comfortable and bathroom was clean and modern. Stayed DBB. Food was good at both. Didn't use the pool as was there for such a short time. Was surprised to use the pool and other facilities would incur a charge. Not sure if the facilities is run independently from hotel and this then would make sense. Would certainly stay again.

AVOID ROOM 206 !! It STINKS !! Mixture of a damp foosty smell Got booked in & straight to room - opened the door & the damp foosty smell hit you straight away Very strong odour (yuk) Went down to reception straight away to complain & Laura said it would be dealt straight away with housekeeping! Went back to smelly room & kept windows open - put portable fan on to try & get rid of the odour. Came back later & was gutted to find nothing had been done - no air freshener or dehumidifier NOTHING! It was 1 am so we had to give in & sleep there - by 4 am I had a sore throat & was coughing loads from inhaling the damp. By 6 am my husband starting coughing also. Breakfast was just as awful - I asked for 2 soft poached eggs Surprise surprise they were overcooked- ended up with toast & jam as the eggs were rubber So disappointed £87 to sleep in a smelly room & no one cared or helped . No one there at reception when we checked out at 10 am - no way was I spending another minute in that room ! Had to come home & wash everything that came with us to get rid of the foosty smell Shame on you !

Worst hotel experience ever, tried charging for breakfast when already included in price quote. Accusations of smoking in room when neither of us smoke then fined £150 automatically taken from account, finally refunded back after long conversation with manager.Will NEVER go back and would advise other friends/family to either.

Woodlands is a great place for a short break. Good food, bar is excellent and with Dundee minutes along the road it's ideally placed for a shopping trip or even a wall along the river in Broughty Ferry.

The hotel is located in a nicely wooded setting.Check in was qick and efficient. Our room was spotless and well equipped with a particularly good tv.All the hotel,public rooms ,restaurant and leisure centre were also very well cleaned and maintained.Both the breakfast and dinner menus were good and the quality of our choices was excellent.We found all the staff to be helpful and friendly while maintaining a high standard of professionalism in their work.The value of our stay based on dbb rate was excellent. We shall be returing for another break in the near future

We booked in here for a meal (party of 12) one Friday evening. Have eaten here many times before and never disappointed. Friendly, efficient staff, delicious food, nice setting with plenty of space for a wheelchair user. Looking forward to our next visit already!

What a lovely hotel this is, clean tidy, helpful staff, we had a great nights stay, rooms were clean, had a evening meal at the hotel, very nice and a realistic price. Breakfast was very good, definitely stay again, the manager from Mickleover court Derby should come for a visit, he would learn how to run a hotel properly.

Fantastic relaxing break at this lovely hotel. All staff from check in to check out are so professional and welcoming. It has a beautiful dining areas with a fantastic standard and choice of food, absolutely delicious evening meals which are reasonably priced. The staff are really helpful and make time to make sure everything is okay with your food and service. Have been here before and Jac in the restaurant always finds some time to see how you are and have a quick chat. I had been planning this break earlier but due to some health issues had to delay it a few months. Nikki Robertson the General Manager made the booking so easy and really assisted with making the break extra special, really can't thank her enough. Some renovation works are being carried out updating rooms but with minimum disruption, just the odd noise now and again. Good sized swimming pool with sauna , steam room and hot tub. Well equipped gym with again excellent staff. Small daily charge of £5 per person.Can't wait to return and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks to Everyone at the Woodlands hotel for a fantastic break

An impromptu overnight stay at this very pleasant hotel. The room was comfortable and clean - offered everything we could reasonably expect despite being slightly dated (or "classic" if you prefer). We opted for the full board dinner bed and breakfast - impressed with the menu options and the food was really enjoyable. However, it was the service throughout our stay that we found to be remarkable - every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful - a true credit to the establishment. The hotel is set in a quiet area and has plenty of parking (despite poor parking skills of other guests) although mostly under trees so your car will likely get "decorated"! We did not use health club only due time.

This was only a very short stopover on route to Aberdeen but a very nice one. Sadly was too late for food so was only to sleep. One of the nicest BW hotels I have seen in a long time. Nicely appointed and refurbished, comfy beds and lovely room. Shame my stay wasnt longer but will consider if in the area again

Staff friendly, clean and good location. Food lovely too. Was busy so I think it is a popular break with golfers and couples. Room was on 2nd floor. We were worried it would be noisy as hotel busy but not much noise at all. Would definitely go back.

Just had a great 2 night stay at this hotel and have left well impressed. Reception staff were very welcoming and very helpful. Rooms were spotless on arrival, and were very well equipped. Special shout to the bar and resteraunt staff, who were very friendly and service was superb, with the dinner being especially good. Leisure facility use was an additional £5 per person, however was worth the supplement if you wish to make use of it. All in all a great weekend and would certainly return.

Management and staff certainly have their figure on the button. Long time since I've seen every area so clean. Dinner was well accepted by the whole party as far as I know. Service efficient and attentive. Look forward to the next time.

Walked in and was wowed by how stunning the entrance is. Stunning. Check in nice and simple as done online. Friendly receptionist. Room was very spacious and lovely. Shower very powerful, nice to have a bath too. Breakfast was lovely however could have been hotter seeing as we were first ones to Breakfast. The wedding was beautiful and the canapés drinks and dinner were beautiful. So tasty. Pool facilities amazing. Love the pool jacuzzi and saunas, gym looked good too well worth paying extra for. Had some dinners in hotel and they were so tasty. Nothing was ant trouble and all staff Friendly. Would definitely return here Thanks for a lovely stay

Hi went for a wee holiday with friends The staff were fantastic they could Not do enough to help us the breakfast staff and food was very extremely good the quality and cleanliness was fantastic the staff at the swimming pool were also extremely good they never stopped cleaning and made us so comfortable and welcoming well done five star pool room service was good as well my partner asked for ice at the bar Billy' was not helpful and upset her there were 2 weddings on that weekend and busy busy staff exceptional under pressure only one complaint our friends bed mattress needs put in the bin it's got more bumps than all the Munro s We will be back

On arrival it looked very impressing on the outside, inside was a little dated but a nice lounge. Check in was quick and efficient, room was on the first floor but the use of a lift was handy for the wife. Room 115 was very spacious and warm and had a great view looking out over the hills smallish bathroom with bath, would have preferred a walk in shower. Breakfast was very good, buffet type so could have plenty and lots of choice, was not too keen on the ala carte dinner menu, if I was to visit again I would select from the main menu but as we had booked DB&B we had to have the meals. Leisure pool was very good and a good size and had a Sauna and whirlpool, free entry and secure lockers. All the staff were very helpful and polite an asset to the Hotel and Manager.

Stayed here primarily for the pool (which you now have to pay extra for). The pool was warm and the pool area clean. Good jacuzzi and sauna, although the steam room was cool. Breakfast was plentiful and fine, although pre-packaged pastries is disappointing. Our family room was dated in appearance and the furniture all needs refreshed. One side of the large bed had a sagging mattress, and the armchair needed its cushion replaced. That said, it clean and comfortable enough. The hotel is in a leafy and upmarket part of Dundee, walking distance down to Broughty Ferry (and its great shops and beaches) for some.

Great stay, holiday clean and staff super friendly was here for a wedding and it was a great weekend. Staff were attentive, food was tasty no complaints really, only suggestion I would give is to put your fan on when you arrive as rooms very warm.

lovely hotel with excellent decor and facilities, food generally good but breakfast let the hotel down as cooked breakfast was cold , we did mention this to staff on duty at the resteraunt but was not rectified, also staff on the reception could have been more friendly , as nothing was said when we returned our keys asking if everthing was ok,all we got was the bill , no thank you or goodbye , most disappointing , we have stayed in many hotels and courtesy was always first class , sorry it lets your hotel down badly hence the 9 rating , it would normally be 10

We stayed in this hotel and had the experience of three separate rooms - each were very clean and the housekeeping team are very much to be commended. The twin rooms are a good sized though the furniture can be tired also, you may find a shower over bath though the shower is a good quality and you feel that you are clean! My only gripe with all of the shower facilities was that whoever installed the soap dispenser put it up far too high to make is accessible for shorter folk! The bed in the first room was far too soft while the bed in the second room was far too hard We also had a double which was a much nicer room, newer furniture and an upgraded bathroom with walk in shower, though the room was far smaller, the beds had been badly joined together which made for a large bed though an uncomfortable centre section. I did feel that the shower would have benefitted from a grab rail in each of the bathrooms I would also recommend that you check what floor you are on and if it is accessible via lift if you have any mobility problems. The breakfast was tasty and the staff were very friendly, it was noticeable that the vegan sausages were possibly chosen by a meat eater (too "meaty tasting"). Staffing wise, we did notice a big difference between breakfast on the Saturday and breakfast on the Sunday. Saturday team seemed to work well and everyone seemed relaxed, Sunday team there was a supervisor (female, blonde, older lady) who seemed to be getting on at a member of staff, they were also having a good moan as a group about somebody/something. It was just a little crass and it could have been done outwith the earshot of customers. I came for a relaxing weekend away, I don't need to hear staff drama. We did like the breakfast room, was nice and bright, almost reminded me of being abroad, really nice decor. We found that the bar closed up fairly early on an evening, staff seemed to be a bit irritated with anybody coming in "late" - If honest, I have never seen a hotel bar close that early. The car park is large and ample, though more disabled spaces are required (there are two/three) and they were always taken. Indeed, due to poor parking of fellow guests, it may have helped if the parking spaces were properly defined with white lines. We enjoyed the pool area, we felt that a few simple disabled accessible adaptions could be installed we were also disappointed that the price was in addition to the cost of the stay, this could have worked out very expensive for us, not sure that a flat rate actually works in this respect. As a final point, we have always found it very hard to book this hotel it is always very popular at weekends (hence why we had a broken booking) hence would recommend booking in advance, it does appear to be popular for weddings and we think it would be a nice place for a wedding, though in future we might just phone and avoid trying to book online.

Dated, standard room, very basic facilities. Had inroom WiFi issues that were eventually resolved by the reception staff. The sparsely furnished room made it feel under dressed. No seating provided and the lighting was inaccessible from the bed. .

Best place ever great staff the food is the best I've ever tasted not pricy the rooms are clean the breakfast is a buffet which is is amazing they make sure you have everything you need in the rooms..

The hotel is in a lovely location, Very hidden away and very well presented. Staff are amazing in all parts of the hotel. Food is excellent, great quality and value for money. Leisure complex is great especially the pool.

We had our wedding in the hotel and stayed a few days. Everything was organised to perfection. Could not fault it. The management and staff went over and above to make sure everything was perfect. The restaurant is fantastic. Food is amazing. Rooms are modern and comfortable.

Had a pleasant stay here for the Gala weekend in town. One of the selling points are the grounds but these are in need of attention. Trees have been cut down either as a failed building project or due to damage but it does not give the best of impressions on arrival at the entrance. The room that we had was classified as a small room in the old building and was fine although more help in finding it up stairs with no lift might have been useful. Disappointed that you had to pay for the leisure facilities but as they were not even pointed out to us we did not see them. Staff were obviously busy with weddings and meetings and so that there was no central area to relax. There was an alarm radio in the room but this was not working correctly, I am not sure that they could cope if there was indeed a further extension..

Four day experience. We initially booked for 3 days and at the last minute booked an extra n8ght. We had four nights in the same ground floor room which was spacious with all we required. Staff were friendly and helpful without being obsequious. Special me tion for Dot who dealt with a situation in the leisure centre with tact and diplomacy. The leisure centre was great. In the hotel the food was fresh and well presented. Returning to the staff they worked as a team and that teamwork was tangible. Great stay

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst in Scotland for The Open. It is located just on the outskirts of Dundee in Broughty Ferry and is about a 10 min drive from the city centre. Staff very friendly, good breakfast, room was spacious and clean, and there was a gym/pool/sauna. There is also a nice bar and restaurant at the front. Would recommend for a short stay.

My husband and I have just come back room this hotel, it's a lovely place, staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, we had out dinner on our first night as it was included in the break and it was very nice, our room 105 was on the ground floor and had everything you needed for your wee break away, there is also a swimming pool and fitness room, going into Dundee was just a 25/20 minute bus ride away,. Dundee has a lovely shopping enter and also plenty to see, the weather was on our side that day as it was quite hot,.the only thing I could think of that wasn't up to standard was that the food at breakfast wasn't very hot, but we still had a great time.

Myself and my son who has Autism stayed 5th - 8th July. I was a bit apprehensive as my son can be sensitive to new surroundings. The staff were great and made the check in etc a breeze . A special mention to Jodie who went out her way to engage with my son and make meal times as easy as possible for him . It is very rare to find the kindness and respect that Jodie showed and she is a credit to the hotel . I cannot fault the cleanliness and comfort of our room. The meals were tasty and good sized portions. The leisure facilities were great but the Jacuzzi has been out of action for a couple of weeks. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would most definitely stay again .

This was my third or fourth stay at The Woodlands in the past year. Every time I have stayed there, I have been impressed by the superb staff. The service and very friendly and polite staff make one's stay very enjoyable. The value is superb and the hotel is quite busy most of the time which indicates my experience is not a "one off".. The food in the restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is very tasty with quite large portions. One does not go hungry if one stays at The Woodlands. I anticipate having another visit there in the not too distant future; the only downside being they are so popular that I must make sure I book well in advance. Nikki and her staff are to be commended. They are a great example of how things can be done and I am sure most guests will return if visiting the area (nice and quiet location by the way and chock full of history. PS: there is a spa on site with heated swimming pool and gym !

Enjoyed our stay at this clean and comfortable hotel. All staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food at breakfast and dinner was good and well prepared.. Overall a very enjoyable stay and will return.

Our family room was extremely spacious, with plenty of room for the three of us (all adults.) Breakfast offered good choice, dinner was tasty and well cooked, but not haute cuisine. Staff were polite and friendly. We were extremely disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of action but an amended charge was made, so good customer service.

Looked after very well by the staff at breakfast at the bar at reception and house cleaning can't fault the team great stay would highly recommend a stay in this hotel..very clean hotel, great atmosphere in bar area, enjoyed the use of the pool and sauna, close to all the nice pubs and restaurants in Broughty ferry, ordered taxis from reception and they were very prompt,all very helpful at reception.

Generally a very good stay but all staff need training in customer services. Staff in the bar and waitressing were particularly brusque and short. Little politeness at times which didn't make you feel like a guest, but like a hinderance. Breakfast arrangements a bit bizarre, you could order poached eggs from the kitchen, it any other hot foods weren't added in the kitchen, you have to walk through dining area to have additional hot foods served onto your plate from a warmer by waiting staff to then walk it back to your table….. by which time it's cold!

Stayed at woodlands for my friends wedding, first impressions looked nice however, check in was very slow & unorganised, once we got to room, room far to hot and no air conditioning(windows only able to open a little bit), room dusty bed side cabinets, tables , lamps & hairs in shower tray, didn't sleep well due to room being to hot. Break fast was included but was very poor, partner also received a dirty mug when sat at table , cooked breakfast was cheap products & tasteless (ended up getting breakfast else where) All & all was £88 however improvements need to be made

I stayed here with my family for a funeral / wake. Check in was fine, only one room was ready but that was to be expected. as it was only 11.30. On our return there was some confusion with the single person being allocated the twin room but it was soon sorted. The room was very tired, with worn and damaged furniture, the ceiling in the bathroom was mouldy ( there was no working ventilation ), the toilet roll holder was broken, the towels were very fluffy and the entire suite was clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We booked dinner which was uneventful except for me getting the incorrect starter but it was no problem, i just went with the alternative. We retired to the bar after dinner ( the seating was very comfortable). However, I was disappointed not to be offered at least a slice of lemon in the G & T's. But worse was to come, the young gentleman behind the bar was lifting a handful of ice holding it in his hand and letting it melt back in o the ice bucket! One of my party spoke to the lady who was also working and she said no that was not acceptable and that she would speak to him. I know its not a huge thing but there were a couple of bulbs out in the beautiful lights in the bar area which was a shame. Breakfast was OK except for a couple of problems, the sausage smelt bad ( I regret not mentioning the sausage thing as 2 members of my party commented ) I just pushed it to one side, the black pudding was tasteless ( disappointing for the home of black pudding).but for me the worst thing was the carpet which i( n more than one place ) was raised making it a possible trip hazard.. We checked out and thought that was the end of it but...... I got home to find there had been an overcharge on my bill. I contacted the hotel 24 hours later to be informed that the breakfast charge had been duplicated and had now been refunded to my card, disappointing that no one thought to email or call me to inform me of this overcharge. At this point i decided to respond to the request to review the hotel. I pointed out the problems that had been incurred and the response was sadly quite surprising. I felt my criticism was justified and was a little taken aback with the response from Nikki Robertson. What is the point of requesting your opinion if the response is going to be so aggressive? I did try replying to Nikki Robertson direct but my email was undeliverable and there is no other contact information. An unloved hotel makes customers feel under valued which in turn leaves staff also feeling under valued.

Third stay and same menu same decor and really a tired hotel. Very busy with weddings which made it very noisy room was clean but had a hole in the carpet. There was as additional charge for a swim which was not mentioned at booking. Feel the quality of the food has slipped, some dishes were deep fried and greay.

An excellent stay at the Best Western Woodlands Hotel. Excellent welcome from reception and Deputy Manager. Rooms clean and very spacious. Shower superb... really powerful. Lovely outside terrace to enjoy a wee refreshment or two. Both dinner and breakfast very tasty and were served by a very friendly but professional team.

I appreciate that hotels can be busy. They have events. If you're not allowed to book in before a certain time, at least have enough table space for your guests. The room was disgusting, the bath had a chip out of the enamel, the vanity furniture was rotting, as was the skirting. The bathroom door and a picture both had what looked like blood splashes on them. The wardrobe doors did not shut properly. The room had an overwhelming smell of chlorine. One of the windows was jammed open and we couldn't reach to shut it plus it was also rotten. There was a disgusting yellow stain on the ceiling. We left immediately.

We held our wedding here as well as staying for a few nights. The service from every single member of staff was excellent. They made every single guest feel very important and all the staff took time to chat with guests during the day and also for the 40+ people who stayed overnight. The food was excellent, not just the wedding meal, but the meals the night before. a nice variety to suit every taste. We stayed in the Wylde Suite which was huge and very clean. Other guests commented on the standards being very high. The team here are definitely one of the best - Nikki the manager leads from the top and you can see this shining through every member of staff as they want each customer to have the best experience. I can't fault anything at all - a gem of a place with a fantastic team.

Thoroughly enjoyable visit. Location was fabulous and the staff were very welcoming, friendly and obliging. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The pool was lovely, a nice temperature and clean although small.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this great find of a hotel. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. The food was lovely. Nothing was too much bother and the service was impeccable. Two minor issues, but nothing that would stop us returning. 1/ The pillows in our room were like bricks, all four of them. They just need replacing. 2/ The bar area is too small for the size of the hotel and needs a rethink regarding better use of the space. Most bays and tables were set out for at least 4 or 6 people. It would be better to have tables for two which are easier to put together for larger groups. We noticed that people were sharing tables and seating areas, then moving when another table became free. It was also very Covid safe . We can't wait to return and have recommended to our family and friends.

This was a gift from family ,to a friend ,and second stay. There was nothing negative. Very wheelchair and disabled. The food was excellent and would not have guessed gluten free. Very tasty. The bedroom was great everything you need and very very comfortable. The staff were so genuinely nice caring and friendly. The location of hotel just perfect. We were guests at a friend's wedding and stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights too! The wedding went really well! The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Nicky worked hard to ensure the bride and groom got what they wanted. The rooms were nice too!

Lovely hotel in Broughty Ferry. All staff were very polite, from check in staff to waiting staff, they did the hotel proud. Used the leisure facilities twice during our stay. All very clean and not too busy. Dinner was superb and very well presented, breakfast was also delicious, my only gripe about breakfast is the tattie scones which were similar to cardboard, it didn't spoil the breakfast though as everything else was great. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend

We have stayed at the hotel before. Our grandsons love the pool and the big spacious rooms . Once again, we enjoyed our stay - especially the pool and the friendly staff there . Breakfast is plentiful .

This hotel was in the perfect setting to stay as it was close to the town centre. All the hotel team were very welcoming, attentive & the customer service was excellent. The breakfast was really good, freshly made food. Choice of continental & cooked options. Buffet self-service & also table ordering for other items. The leisure facilities were clean & excellent. Our room The Wyldes suite was huge. Beautiful bathroom, comfy beds, very clean. Would really recommend staying at this hotel in Broughty Ferry.

Just back yesterday from our third visit in a year. Will be back. All staff were very good food was excellent. Rooms clean and warm. The swimming pool was a great temperature for my wife who likes to swim.

Had the best stay at the Woodlands Best Western. Room was lovely, pool/sauna/steam room facilities were clean and most enjoyable, added a little extra to our stay! Staff were lovely from the reception, restaurant staff, pool attendant. Breakfast was really enjoyable with plenty of choice - both continental and cooked! Will definitely return x

This was our first visit to the Best Western Woodlands Hotel, Broughty Ferry. We were given a warm welcome at reception upon arrival. Our room was modern, clean and had a nice comfy king size bed. Tea, coffee and biscuits. Bathroom had a good shower, toiletries and fluffy towels. The food was excellent, so good that we had a meal both evenings during our stay. A big thanks to our waiter Steven for his great service. All the restaurant staff work well together. Breakfast was excellent and provided buffet style, but all eggs and porridge are cooked to order. Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced and Ethan was very efficient and friendly. We were also impressed with the leisure facilities, which included a sauna, steam room, small pool and a hot jacuzzi. It is quite popular but we didn't have to book. You will need a £1 coin for the locker and towels are provided. The hotel is ideally situated for the beach and town centre. We were only 30 minutes away from St Andrews. Overall we had a fantastic stay and we will definitely return.

I'm just back from a 3 night break at The Woodlands Hotel. From the start to the finish, the staff, rooms and especially the food were excellent. My room was warm, clean, comfortable with all the usual amenities and it was lovely to see the pool, gym etc in full use. The hotel was busy but the staff took care to ensure good service and the food was absolutely delicious. Not only prepared well but presented well also. There is no doubt that I will be back to this well run comfortable hotel. Definitely worth 5 stars.

+ point was the staff who were almost always both professional and friendly. ( reception -more snippy) Whole experience was a ‘tired' and run down hotel and our room though clean and adequate was drab, drab, drab.

My husband and I had a 2 night break at the Woodlands 3rd & 4th of April 2022. The welcome on arrival at reception was excellent, providing us with all of the required information to ensure an enjoyable stay. Our king size room was lovely, very clean and the bed was huge and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant both nights, and enjoyed the food very much, good quality and freshly made. Breakfast was also very well organised and extremely nice with lots of choice, with freshly made omelettes available. The bar was busy both nights, and the drinks prices were very reasonable. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we will return! Well done to Nikki and all the staff.

Had a nice stay at hotel staff were attentive and friendly. Room was comfortable however was above the hotel kitchen and was a smell of cooking in the bathroom noise at times outside. Dinner was good and breakfast was very good.I would stay again but not in the same room. There was no complimentary upgrade available when we checked in.

We have stayed in this hotel previously when visiting family in Dundee and have dined here regularly. This is a great place, consistently good. We had a Mother's Day lunch which was easy to book and accommodated a wheelchair user in our group as well as children aged 7 and 4. Service was excellent and attentive - a warm welcome and understanding throughout. Adult meals included sea bass, battered haddock, steak pie and macaroni and cheese - the highlight being the sea bass which was cooked well and nice flavours. Children had breaded fish and pizza options, the fish was the highlight and tasted fresh. Food came quickly and hot from the kitchen on a busy lunch service for them. The dining area for lunch is bright, well spaced out and a good atmosphere. Overall, a lovely meal was enjoyed and value for money. Enjoy!

Had an enjoyable trip, restaurant and bar area newly refurbished but need more staff particularly at breakfast - not as much variety as previously. Also when restaurant busy in evening had to wait long time again more staff needed.

Have stayed at the Woodlands a few times now and always get a friendly welcome. Rooms are very comfortable and breakfast is very good. Plenty parking on site. Leisure complex also on site. 25 minute walk to the centre of Brought Ferry where there are lots of eating and drinking places. 10 minute drive into Dundee city centre.

The immediate family, 18 folk between ages18-81, had a fantastic night with exclusive use of the Library.(perfect size for our group). Food and Service were first class. Hotel Management proved on the ball with all the prep like Menus , access, accommodation bookings. Absolutely no fault could be found. Thoroughly recommended.

Very nice homely hotel with fantastic and friendly staff and lovely food. Nice leisure centre. Not far from Dundee and broughty ferry is a lovely wee town, with nice eating places and bars. Would recommend this hotel.

Good Relaxing Break Just back from a relaxing two-day break b/b both days with dinner on the first night with my wife at the Woodlands Hotel, Broughty Ferry with Myhotelbreak.com. First the website was excellent. I like websites that not only gives you a choice of dates but gives you the exact cost so you can book right away. Unlike some that want you to call to discuss details before a price is given. Checking in was no problem. In fact, we checked in just after 3pm when the paperwork said 4pm at the earliest. We paid for an upgrade so we were a bit surprised when we seen the room that we were given. The rooms was clean and ready but it would be interesting to see the normal room as we thought the room we were given was the same as you would normally receive. Tip – Don't pay the extra it's not worth it! No fridge in the room. It was a nice night so we went down the hill to the esplanade and walked along to the Castle and back to the hotel. If it was warmer there is a pub about halfway along which is handy! At check-in we booked our breakfast time and dinner time. Breakfast was usual fare available – cereals, fruit, fried breakfast, toast, tea, coffees, juices etc with a hot breakfast as well. Dinner - Good selection for a set menu. Our deal was two courses – starter and main with an option to buy a dessert. No drinks menu on the table or offered. Served at a good pace not rushed or too long. We went to the bar on both nights and it was quite busy which in our experience was quite unusual for a hotel bar. We still got a seat though with prices usual hotel rates. We went to the Leisure area which consisted of a pool, jacuzzi and a gym. Towels provided when you go in and lockers are available (£1 needed but is returned) We decided to go on the bus around locally. Tip – get a dayrider £6.50 which covers from Perth to Arbroath. We went to Arbroath to the Abbey, had lunch then went back to Dundee to the indoor shops as it was raining then back to Broughty Ferry. Excellent for my wife's ticket (I was free with my bus pass). Overall an excellent two day break and would recommend it.

We stayed at the Woodlands Hotel for 7 nights. From the time we arrived until our departure we had an excellent stay. We had a family room which was fairly large and very comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast and a number of meals in the restaurant the food was first class on all occasions. The lounge area was also very comfortable. We also used the fitness facilities every day, The staff are a credit to the hotel and we will definitely be booking to go again.

What a gem find third time in 7 months I've visited, one wit my daughter one with my husband and one with 5 friends, each visit the food, rooms, leisure and staff have been outstanding. Nothing is a bother it has such a lovely relaxed ambiance well done! And yes my friends wh visited with me are now planning to book with their families.

I have stayed in this hotel on business for the past 9 months and ive not had a bad visit at all and the staff are excellent and the service is very good from check in to checking out they are also doing some great upgrades throughout the hotel and this is also making for a great comfortable stay. There are also some great leisure areas such as a pool and gym and again great easy access to allow you to destress.

Great hotel, lovely surroundings, very well placed for walking in to Broughty Ferry itself. We were in a twin room. Everything was just as it should be. Staff were lovey, very courteous and always had a word with you. We used the swimming pool, unfortunately the hot tub was out of order but it didn't affect us. Breakfast was lovely and there was a good choice.

This hotel provided a great weekend retreat. The sister hotel is at the other side of Dundee, near the Ninewells Hospital but this one had the added bonus of having the pool and gym on-site, (guests at the other hotel can travel over and use the facilities). This hotel runs parallel but a street behind the main road and is therefore quiet and peaceful with lots of trees and birds. inside is very clean and bright and our room was quite large, no bath but large walk in shower. Excellent for a wee weekend break away!

we had our wedding here on the 8th October 2021 and Nikki and other members of staff were fantastic at helping me from booking our wedding to the full day, they had the reception area looking amazing for our ceremony every little detail was perfect and just how we imagined it, Nikki and staff were there on hand from the moment our guests arrived and when we both arrived. After the ceremony and going through to the room for the meal, the tables were set up beautifully and all the other bits we wanted added to our day was put out it all just looked perfect, there was lots of compliments for the meals served (how good the food was) and different choices that were available for both adults and kids so everyone was catered to there own individual preference and needs (my friend was dairy intolerant), everything was just done perfectly, it was a day we will never forget ❤ the staff were there to help from the start and through out the day, the only complaint we had from people was the wait between the room getting sorted, but other than that it was a perfect day, were so glad we chose to have our special day here,so thank you all soo much,

We stayed a night at the hotel as a treat for our grandsons as they love a pool. From the nice chap we booked it with on the phone , to the pool attendants, restaurant staff and reception staff, I was very impressed. Everyone was welcoming and seemed happy - created a lovely atmosphere. Our room was massive ! Kids were so amazed . We used the pool - 3 hours in total! Happy kids ! We had dinner which was ok . The breakfast was as good as any we've had . I'd heard the hotel was ‘tired' and I agree but it was tired in a clean , well proportioned and handsome way . The staff followed all the Covid rules - as did we . It was made easy as all tables had hand sanitisers on them and everyone wore masks . We shall be booking again!

I travel for work and I travel a lot... Some hotels I stayed in were lovely, some not so much but not very many were absolutely dreadful. Sadly that is the case with BW Woodlands in Dundee. The hotel has got a huge parking and the building itself looks great. But that is where the positives stop. Upon arrival I was greeted by a queue of guests trying to check-in with only one receptionist working. I noticed two more members of staff present but none of them thought it would be a good idea to help and check everybody in a little faster. The receptionist was either tired or not happy to be at work because her performance was less than satisfactory. I wasn't told about anything other than if I would like to book a breakfast. No times given for when the restaurant is open, no "sorry to keep you waiting". The room was quite on the big side but on the ground floor and therefore completely dark, a few funny spots on the carpet what looked like a bleach stains. The bed (or the mattress) needed replacing and the duvet is a story on its own. I slept ok only because I was tired every single night. It was frosty the first morning and when I was leaving the hotel at 8:50am the grounds were still very slippery. I returned back to tell the receptionist to sort it with salt or sand. Her answer "oh ok" was quite shocking... Health and Safety is non existent in this place. But I still thought - give this place a chance... So I wanted to order a room service. And there comes another funny story - they have separate menus for lunch and dinner service. Well, they are both absolutely identical with one significant difference - the prices are cheaper for lunch and more expensive for dinner.... The portions are the same, the restaurant is the same so why the difference? If you are really that desperate to make more money, then write two menus with different items on it!!! Never-mind, I went to the reception, placed an order (it was 16:20). I specifically asked if the room service is working and was told "YES". 10 minutes later when I was back in the room the phone rang and the same receptionist was telling me that the restaurant opens at 17:00 so I will get my order later... Again, there was no "sorry for this".... The above might sound petty to some but as somebody who works in hospitality these are significant issues that make a very bad impression and people will not return back... that is my case. I would much rather stay in a venue with a great service that is maybe a bit more expensive than this. Best Western used to be great brand but this hotel is nothing but a very badly run place with terrible customer service... And one last thing - it is compulsory to wear mask so WEAR THEM PROPERLY. It is no help when the staff wears them under their chins... (I am speaking specifically about the reception!!) I always try to review places to the best of my knowledge and often choose not to leave a review at all when my experience is bad but there were so many issues that I decided to write one. Hopefully this will be picked up by the management and perhaps things can change... But for now I will give this place a miss next time.

Exceptionally well run hotel, especially in these COVID times. Staff everywhere were helpful and pleasant. Our room had been refurbished to a high standard and included a walk-in shower. Breakfast was plentiful with plenty choice. Good range of activities in a very clear leisure centre. A great base from which to explore Dundee and the wonders of Broughty Ferry. Wonderful to see so many young staff employed, and very obviously trained.

A lovely hotel, ample parking, warm welcome, lovely room with plenty of space. The only disappointment was the leisure centre which had a great pool, steam room and sauna and a jacuzzi (long legs needed to get in and out) but nowhere comfortable to sit and relax, so you used the facilities and then had to leave.

27 times speaks for itself, home from home. We hadn't been for 2 years due to pandemic. However rooms were spotless and the majority of staff were welcoming of note, Jodie, Dot, Laura and the young male waiters. The only issue was that the pump in the pool had broken down and despite being fixed broke down again. Perhaps a wee notice advising people of this might have been in order. 28th visit looming, all in all, great to be back. Thanks Nikki and staff

Lovely location, nice hotel, excellent staff who all provided first class service. The hotel looked a little 'tired' in one or two places but that didn't stop me enjoying my stay at this hotel. I would be most happy to stay here again.

Laura and the full team were exceptionally helpful, professional and cheerful, making our celebratory stay exactly what we hoped for. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The standard of the hotel matched the staff with very clean comfortable rooms, public areas and leisure facilities as well as excellent food We are happy to recommend The Woodlands Hotel and will definitely return.

This is a very nice hotel, nice and very friendly efficient staff. Good food, and a varied lunch and dinner menu. Room was spacious and certainly I would like at here again, I was last here in 2018 and both stays were enjoyable.

Just spent 2 nights at the Woodlands. The room was spacious enough but was very dated. The wallpaper (which had stains on it), furniture and carpets are needing updated - looks like early 90s. Another issue was that the kitchen smells were very strong in the shower room and the waft of garlic in particular was strong especially in the evenings. The other problem was that the bottle banks were outside the room and the noise of the bottles being thrown in in the evenings (there were functions on) and in the morning werent too ideal either. However the room was clean and I was impressed with the COVID precautions. The leisure suite was good and the pool was nice and clean with lovely clean large towels. My only other issue was the breakfast - particularly on the first day. I wasn't that impressed with what was served and the queue for the toast machine meant that everyone was on top of each other. The "hot" food was lukewarm and I noticed that the server put scrambled eggs which had been sitting out in an icecream tub on the floor into the server and mixed them in. I feel that if they moved the two tables out of the library and spaced things out better there wouldnt be the queueing etc which impacted of people trying to get cereal and yogurts etc. Bearing in mind there is still a 1 meter space required between people this was not taking place at all. Some people were not wearing masks too which wasnt ideal. However the evening meals were excellent and the restaurant staff were very pleasant and accommodating. One final point, when there are functions on at the weekends the hotel bar is quite busy and the functions seem to spread into that area too even though they have their own bar and there isnt much space for residents to sit etc. Also some of the language from the first night's function was disgraceful in the reception area and people seem to stand at the front door smoking which could be intimating for people leaving. Not sure what the hotel could do about these issues but its something to bear in mind if you are staying particularly at the weekend.

Really enjoyed our stay, 2 night at stay with dinner on first night. Got a excellent room lovely large bathroom could only have been improved by having dressing gowns in room. Dinner was excellent, staff all very friendly and welcoming

Me and my partner travelled up from weymouth in Dorset, by car. Very quick and easy check in. The lady in reception was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. We booked a double room. It was clean and tidy and had everything u would want in a bedroom. We had a problem with our sink. I reported 2 reception and it was delt with straight away. Overall all the facilities in the hotel were at a very high standard. A big thank u 2 all the staff which made me and my partner feel very welcome in the hotel. Will definitely be staying here again and recommending this hotel 2 friends and family.

We went to Woodlands for a Davidson Clan Gathering over 3 nights, sadly postponed from October 2020. Nicky the manager could not have been more helpful and accommodating. She was so laid back and easy going in the face of COVID restrictions postponing our visit. When we eventually got there in 2021 the rooms were immaculately clean and any small problems were ironed out immediately. The function itself went smoothly and we had great fun. The staff were happy in their work and loved Nicky the manager - which in itself tells you a lot! We had a great weekend and nothing was too much trouble. Great food and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you!

We booked this last minute for a one stay during October break I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel , nice grounds and surroundings lovely cosy bar and very helpful staff, we had booked a king room but prefer single beds they were fully booked , receptionist said they could twin it for us , marvelous.

A first class stay from start to finish, staff was very efficient, well mannered and very welcoming, would certainly recommend The Woodlands to my friends and family, which ahs already benefitted the hotel with visits from my sister, brother and two of my friends.

Second visit to this hotel. Nice rooms, helpful staff and good food. I've been lucky to secure 2 great value 2 night stays since summer. Good pool, gym, steam room and sauna I'd you have time to enjoy. Nice quiet bar area with comfortable seating and one unobtrusive telly.

room was not very clean and bin had not been emptied. I have stayed here on previous occasions for work and never had an issue. nail clippings on carpet, hairs in bathroom and dirty windowsill. Not impressed.

My wife and I stayed at Woodlands. Evening meals were very good but sadly we had to ask for our breakfast to be heated in the microwave every day. Room was not cleaned at all during our stay. We won't be back.

The staff were very friendly the hotel had plenty prep.done during covid the reception attended to a forgetful item toothpaste. I also enjoyed a prepaid function and my daughter enjoyed the gym . Breakfast staff were also helpful and as a rewards customer I earned more points . Yipiekieeeee.

We had a very pleasant stay in the Woodlands hotel. Comfortable room, good food, and very friendly staff. The hotel is in nice grounds, doesn't feel like you're in the heart of town, but only ten/fifteen minutes walk from the centre.

Let me start by mentioning the C word. COVID-19 protocols at the Woodlands are the best I have experienced over the past 18 months.Reception,check in was fast,efficient and seamless.Leisure Suite a great place to relax and recharge your batteries.Bedrooms,spotless and had everything you would need.Bar and Restaurant,great friendly Staff nothing was too much trouble.The food was fantastic,great selection,always piping hot,very reasonably priced.Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

A wonderful hotel! Every member of staff we met; were pleasant, well mannered and accommodating. We were in 205 - Abercrombie wing. Our room was spotless and well maintained. The room was a good size, the bed comfortable and we had everything we could need during our stay. The spa and facilities were great. The decor of the hotel was lovely. Some not to my own personal taste but absolutely beautiful. Especially, the lights, stained glass and wall paper. I was impressed! We had an inclusive evening meal for our first night that we enjoyed. Good quality products, cooked to perfection. So much so we chose to eat in the hotel again the second night. Food, wine and soft drinks were reasonably priced which made our stay more enjoyable as some beautiful hotels similar to Woodlands can be excessively overpriced. Breakfast was lovely. Well organised and again really good products. A minor complaint this morning was that our tea and coffee weren't as hot as we like. We spoke to the restaurant staff and had an immediate replacement. No problems, no dramas, just excellent customer service. All covid distancing measures were in place. Staff were exceptional! To be honest it can't be pleasant for staff but we appreciated their consideration for our wellbeing. We will definitely book again when in the area! Thank you to everyone ‘front and back' of house. We had a fabulous stay.

First time staying in this hotel. Staff were friendly and made you feel welcome. This hotel is in a lovely location. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in the Broughty Ferry area. We would have loved to make use of the swimming pool but had not brought swimwear along with us.

We booked a 2 night break with both breakfasts and 1 dinner through a website deal . First and foremost the hotel staff were very good , attentive covid safe and friendly . The meals were all nice , freshly cooked and tasty . Bar prices are reasonable too , has a nice beer garden too . We had a nice swim both nights too , the pool and gym are well equipped . All in all we enjoyed our trip , it was good value and we would go back to this hotel . Would definitely recommend the The Woodlands for a short break in beautiful Broughty Ferry . Top tip room 119 for a quiet sleep .

One night stay and first time visit to hotel, check in was easy and the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Room was ideal and clean. The leisure facilities were good and the staff were busy cleaning areas. Pool was ideal for a leisurely swim, Staff there were polite and helpful. We stayed 2 nights on 16th &17th September 2021 for my niece's wedding. We had a lovely stay. Room was nice and bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food was really good. Wedding went without a hitch. Would definitely go back to Woodlands Hotel

We met here for a family meal to celebrate our Auntie's 100th Birthday. The cosy ambience, polite and friendly staff and delicious food all contributed to make the evening a most memorable occasion. It was excellent in every way. Full marks to Nicki and her staff.

Just back yesterday from a 2 night stay with friends from Newcastle.This was our second visit this year . As before room was fresh and clean everything you needed in room tea and coffee tray refilled daily, hairdryer ,Iron , nice fresh towels . The breakfasts were delicious and a good variety and quality as were the dinners in the evening all the food was hot and service was quick. John in the restaurant was very helpful as are all the staff. A special mention goes to Nikki the manageress she is very friendly and helpful . The swimming pool was clean and a great temperature. All in all a fantastic place to stay. Broughty Ferry Harbour is near and a great wee place for a wander round plenty shops ,cafes and bars We will certainly go back again. I have said this before its the staff who make your stay enjoyable. Jean & John (Renfrew)

Our first visit to this lovely hotel and it won't be our last. The building itself is a beautiful old house with adjoining new building. It is set in lovely, wooded grounds on the outskirts of Broughty Ferry. There is plenty of car parking and the hotel is very Covid safe with plenty of hand sanitisers, all staff in masks, contactless check in and staggered breakfast times. What puts this a cut above the rest is the friendliness of the staff. Everyone we encountered was helpful and went out of their way to satisfy requests. They are a credit to Best Western. Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size. Breakfast was very well organised and you book your time for breakfast in advance. This was good as it meant the dining area was never over crowded. The staff at breakfast were excellent. So efficient and cleaning and sanitising tables as soon as they were vacated. Food was of a good standard and certain items, such as eggs, are prepared fresh and brought to your table. We had dinner one night with a drink out on the patio first. Again, the staff were attentive and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Broughty Ferry and it is also close to a bus stop into Dundee, which we did use. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning to this lovely hotel in a very beautiful area. Thanks to all the staff.

Can't fault this hotel at all, from start to finish, everything was first class. Staff very welcoming on reception, restaurant/bar staff friendly and helpful. Varied menu with something for everyone. Just hoping we can visit again soon.

I booked this hotel on a booking site and the deal was two nights B+B with Dinner on the first night at a very reasonable price. I was pleasantly surprised with the very spacious room and the overall quality of the food at Dinner and the spa and gym area. The Dinner was so good we automatically decided to dine on the second night also. Really good choice and quality. The staff are all very attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was not upto the quality of Dinner but was reasonable, it was Luke warm as served from heat plate dishes which were open most of the time.Overall this hotel is well worth a visit and we will certainly return. There was a wedding both nights of our stay and we did not hear a thing, Sleapt well in a very comfortable bed. Covid control was first class and certainly felt safe with everything within the hotels control but there is always a few that feel they are above of Government advice for everyone's safety and they know better!!!

It's been a few years since we last stayed here and the only obvious change was the sunny outside seating beside the bar. All the staff we met provided excellent and friendly service. The accommodation was fine with reasonable sized rooms and a comfy bed. Breakfast on both days was tasty and the dinner we had from the set menu was very good. There is ample parking on site. Overall a good experience at a reasonable price. The only downside were weddings on both nights that crowded out the bar area.

The rating is merely for the room. It's a nice hotel in lovely grounds. When we got to our room my heart sank. It was like a really cheap budget hotel room. The room was very dark and dreary. It was tiny it was in the attic, decor very dated. I would presume when the house was built was servant sleeping area. Broughty Ferry is lovely, I will be back but not to this hotel. We paid £180 for 2 nights here, had I seen the room before I arrived I wouldn't have paid more than £50. I am just really disappointed it spoiled my first holiday after covid.

We were amazed at every aspect of this hotel. The staff were all so very attentive and friendly. Our room was very well laid out and the surrounding views of the trees made it very peaceful. The beds were sooo comfortable. We did not hear any noise from the corridor or rooms next door. The breakfast was lovely, a vast choice and more options available freshly cooked and brought to your table. We also had an evening meal which was very tasty. We used the swimming pool which was very refreshing. We will definitely return. 10 out of 10

Building was really nice and isolated, in a stunning location surrounded by beautiful houses but its probably best if you drive here as most places are atleast a 20 minute walk away. Room was your basic double bed room, very clean, bathroom was the best part, could probably use a better shower/hair wash. Mattress was a little on the thin side. Made use of the Good Intentions suite which is run by Christine, was an amazing massage and she was super sweet in general. Never used the leisure facilities but they looked nice. Went for breakfast one morning, it was alright, nothing out of the ordinary, just your classic hotel buffet continental and cooked. Broughty Ferry is an absolutely beautiful place, will definitely be returning.

Arrived late afternoon on Saturday 21.8.21. Hotel had a wedding function in the making, there being 12-15 guests for the wedding congregated under the outside canopy at the hotel entrance all smoking. Two prominent signs on the wall stated ‘Strictly No Smoking in this area.' Not good for my wife & I as non smokers having to excuse ourselves to manoeuvre through the crowd to gain entry. The hotel doors were left open consequently the reception area and all the downstairs corridors smelt strongly of tobacco, including the lift. Wedding party guests were all over the hotel reception, bar area and corridors to the bedrooms none of which wore face masks. Enquired with reception about the face mask policy and was told we had to wear face masks and pointed out the wedding party were not. The response given by the staff member ‘Well they should be.' After the wedding reception had finished the guest were again all over the bar & reception area. We were obliged to drink/eat out from the hotel. Nobody from the hotel tried to oversee or control what was happening which made a mockery of the hotel COVID rules. We chose to stay at Best Western as we felt it was worth paying more however we have consistently had better experiences at mainstream budget hotels. Check first if the hotel has a function planned if you take the COVID restrictions seriously, it does not have the capacity to run functions effectively without it impacting on other hotel guests and certainly it does not have the calibre of staff/managers to run/oversee functions.

Solidified gravy, ketchup and something I can only hope was shampoo splattered all over my room that I only discovered progressively over my one night stay. Outwith the room though, fantastic staff, great restaurant service and food, good pool and steam/hot tub and bar. If you're fussy about cleanliness and hygiene though maybe do a full audit on arrival likevi should have done. Showed photos on check out but just embarrassed awkward response sadly.

We enjoyed our holiday at The Woodlands Broughty Ferry. Very welcoming lovely room and facilities. The staff all helpful good food and service. Very handy walk into the Ferry shops bars coffee shops beautiful harbour bus into town easy plenty to see.

Booked couple of nights away last minute and delighted with stay. Lovely area, hotel set in beautiful grounds. Nice food,drink in restaurant/beer garden and breakfast organised well due to covid restrictions. Got to use pool/jacuzzi/steam room facilities so that was an added bonus during these times. All staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful with any enquiries. Would definitely go back here.

Had an outside visit last Sunday for a coffee and a beer. We had two dogs with us (first time) and it was so nice to be given water bowls for them PLUS complimentary packets of dog treats. What a lovely touch. The coffees and beer were great too as was the service. We visit quite often and it is always a pleasant experience.

We stayed only one night, have been offered room number 133 with air conditioner but it didn't work and temperature in the room was quite high as the room is located on last floor. That problem wasn't stated on the website or even when we arrived. We haven't been offered any discount or extras as a compensation. Anyway overall was good and the lady from reception brought us a fan in the evening that helped a bit. Thank you.

What a gem of a hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I felt right at home. While there were some restrictions in place due to covid, these reassured me that I would have a safe stay. Thank you to the staff for giving me a fantastic trip.

Room on 3rd floor with no lift. Aircon broken and the room was boiling. A dog would not have been allowed to stay in that room. Staff were aware the room was a hot house before we left previous destination but didn't give us a chance to manage the problem. Room should have been taken out of service but they continue to sell it. I was exhausted and dangerous driving in Dundee area owing to a lack of sleep. Shocking!

Lovely grounds, Garden very nice. Hotel must have been lovely in its day but it is badly in need of an overhaul. Rooms are very tired, Furniture is solid but again very tired, Lumpiest bed i have been in.

Hotel staff are so friendly and nothing is too much of a bother. Rooms are spotless and well equipped. Meals are lovely the only thing with breakfast you have to queue and sometimes the queues are long and can be a bit cold when you sit down to eat it

Stayed in hotel 2 nights food was good, breakfast and evening meal service was excellent in the restaurant and at he bar. Any requests were met with a polite helpful manner and also any extras needed for room were there within minutes of request . On both nights we stayed there was a wedding and a party in the function room but you could not hear a thing we were not disturbed what so ever. Only criticism of the whole stay , rooms could do with some updating. Thanks for a great stay

Would need to stay again and review under non covid regulations as I expect the experience would be much improved. However the positives included a spacious, comfortable and functional room. Agreeable evening bar experience enhanced by the outside seating area. Lots of parking and pleasant walk into the town centre meant we could abandon the car and enjoy the local area. We'd missed the email about pre-booking breakfast and only ridiculously early times left when we arrived at reception, so do pay attention to pre arrival information. Opted instead for the room service breakfast which was, quite frankly, the worst breakfast we've ever been served. Food tasted as if it had been sitting on a buffet all morning before being plated up and sent to the room. The hotel really needs to evaluate how it's offering breakfasts if current regulations are to continue.

Fantastic hotel the staff were amazing. The hotel was very clean and decor was gorgeous. Breakfast was lovely wide range available me and my kids enjoyed it. I would definitely stay here again when next up.

We visited Woodlands last year same time and loved it. Therefore we returned this year and we're not sorry we did. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and is classy in itself. The room was spacious and nicely furnished. Kept clean and we were well provided for. The fan was in use and very helpful because the weather was amazing. The food is varied and excellent. Nicely presented and the staff are all expert and pleasant. Nikki who looked after us so well last year was on holiday but the hotel ran very well . Craig did an amazing job keeping all flowing well. Reception was always there to help and the staff experienced and interested. It wasn't possible to get into the pool ect because it was in big demand and due to Covid restrictions just couldn't fit in everyone. Next time maybe. We will definitely return to Woodlands if health permits. We would and have recommended it to others. Thank you to amazing staff. We trust Nikki had a good break and hope to see her next time. They say a good manager Is apparent when the show goes on well without her or him. Good training and planning. Well done and thanks to all staff at Woodlands. Stayed here for a couple of nights. This is a nice hotel in a nice location and the staff were very effiicient and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here. Planning to have another visit soon

lovely hotel situated within walking distance of the town Centre, Room was large with good facilities and very clean. We had dinner on the 1st night and food was well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was lovely eggs were cooked fresh and there was a good variety of items. Staff were warm and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We will certainly be returning

Not sign posted .tucked away. But beautiful stay. Great use of amenities but book them in advance. Even the pool. Staff very friendly. Both our rooms were great for 1 night. However do look tired Would stay again but in different rooms standard double was too small for our personal taste.

Very friendly welcome on arrival. Our room key etc was in plastic container. Our room on the first floor was spotless and every effort had been taken to meet COVID requirements. In the bar I was scrabbling to find a piece of paper in my bag when a young waiter brought some over! Breakfast in the morning was excellent with every precaution taken - we felt safe. I have used this hotel several times and will do so again. I inadvertently left clothes in the wardrobe. They very kindly phoned and have pack it up and posted it to me. Thank you and well done Woodlands.

Spotless hotel but a bit old fashioned/tired. Health Suite booked weeks in advance so unable to use. Nice breakfast. Bedding a bit shabby and noise from next door room easily heard. Quiet location. Approx £5 in taxi to Broughty Ferry Centre.

Just had a lovely weekend break here with my husband. The hotel is very nice and everything was clean with all covid restrictions in ace. The rooms are of a goid standard and are good size with a comfy bed. The staff were very nice. We had dinner in hotel on first night and the food was very nice my only criticism would be the wine wasn't very nice or very well chilled. The breakfast was was well organised with entry of choice and was very nice. We enjoyed the leisure suite which we used three times over our two night stay (book in advance before stay) we had a lovely relaxing weekend here and would definitely book again.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife and infant son. From start to finish the staff were first class. Very welcoming and attentive especially towards our son James. The hotel is one of the best places we have visited in regards to being COVID safe, both myself and wife work in private healthcare and it's up there with the highest standards we've seen. Having our room keycard and paperwork in a sealed bag being one of them. We didn't have any worries in that regard. The hotel itself is really nicely decorated and spacious. Our room (219) was immaculate. All furnishings and bedding were to a high standard as was the tv. The room really was faultless. Dinner was delicious and big portions. Again the staff were very accommodating with our son who sometimes thinks food is for throwing and not eating. All tables were spotless and having your cutlery and napkin in a sealed bag was a great touch. Breakfast was buffet, you pick what you want and it's plated for you then you pick up the plate. Food again was delicious and a nice selection. The swimming pool was lovely and not overcrowded due to having to book. All in all a great stay, we will be back and have recommended it to family and friends. Special mention to Julie in the bar/restaurant who was outstanding, going out her way to make our baby a sandwich when the kitchen had closed for lunch. Much appreciated!!

Would recommend this hotel as we were very comfortable, and the food and staff were fab. If I could make any recommendations, it would be to ban smoking right at the front entrance, as this was gross to walk into and the first thing we saw when we pulled into the carpark.

First time at this hotel and will certainly be back. Indeed we have already booked for July this year. The staff were friendly, professional and informative. The food was really good and the bar prices were reasonable for a hotel. The room was comfortable and the safety procedures (Covid- 19) were excellent. We love Broughty Ferry - all of the people are really nice. Been many times but this is now our go to hotel. Only disappointment was that the swimming pool was fully booked for the time of our stay - so phone for a booking prior to arrival at the hotel.

Had a single room in The Woodlands Hotel for two nights and I was expecting it to be tiny but I was pleasantly surprised to get a really nice room with plenty space. Everything was spotless and the hotel was well equipped for keeping everyone socially distanced. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. We had dinner on one night and it was very good. Really couldn't fault anything and I would certainly recommend the hotel for a break.

Stayed at the Woodlands Hotel Broughty Ferry for a couple of nights. We found the staff very helpful, and enjoyed dinner on the second night. Hotel is in a quiet residential area so were not disturbed at night. Would recommend this hotel and will be back.

...............and, as I have written before about this hotel group, you don't pay much and you don't get much. This hotel needs a complete overhaul, with a tired and outdated appearance and archaic bathroom plumbing which, in our case, flooded the floor when the shower was used (the shower curtain was far too small) and produced occasional spurts of scalding water. We were initially shown into a bedroom with an intercommunicating door to the next room. We were told the door was sound-proofed but, having listened to much of the neighbouring room's conversation, the hotel agreed to move us to a different self-contained room. I would like to say that replacement room represented the helpfulness of the staff, but they couldn't have been less welcoming and didn't lift their eyes from the reception desk when anyone went in or out of the hotel. It probably sounds petty, but I was annoyed to find that the cost of our stay had been withdrawn from my bank account the day we arrived, when most hotels require payment on departure and when we had been told on arrival that any expenditure in the hotel would be added to our bill. I would rather avoid staying in a Best Western Hotel ever again, but I fear the occasion may arise in the future when I have to.

Finding it difficult to rate this hotel as we did enjoy our stay but had a few hiccups. I appreciate the difficulty of working under the COVID restrictions but did expect our stay to be better. I called the hotel the week prior to arrival just to check if we had to do anything special over and above the normal we have come to expect and was told no. I then enquired about booking for dinner and was told no as we were on a dbb deal our table was reserved just a case of giving a time on arrival. I mistakenly assumed breakfast would be the same but found out during check in that was not the case and we were unable to get breakfast until 10.00 on our first morning. During my call I had also asked about booking the leisure facilities. I was transferred to the leisure centre but gave up due to the time the phone rang out. After checking in we headed to the leisure centre only to be told it was booked for the next 3 weeks. So no use of leisure facilities for us. We had a lovely large room and more than happy but more about that later. Breakfast was ok. Food not very warm, wrong juice order delivered to our table, strange when the only choice was orange or apple. My morning roll which was individually wrapped had blue mould on the base. Be warned. Out for the day, returned mid afternoon to find bed not made. Turns out that due to COVID you are expected to make up your own bed. Not told this on arrival or when we mentioned it the first time at reception only when I returned a second time. Back to the room. On our last morning I was having a coffee in the room on a seat beside the bed and was really surprised at the level of dust and accumulated dirt on the rail behind the bed. Not very nice. I have emailed the hotel manager re the above and have received an apology and an explanation but the fact is these things happened hence the reason for having difficulty with my review. I should also mention that the hotel is a bit of a walk from the town. We enjoy walking so not a problem for us in fact if you go via the prom you pass a lovely rock garden but if walking is a problem you will certainly require transport of some description.

This was our second stay this year at the Woodlands hotel. With plenty parking, good food and friendly helpful staff we recommend this hotel. Due to the current situation all breakfast and dinner's must be booked in advance. This may seem strange but it is all to do with keeping everyone as safe as possible. They also have time slots for the pool and leisure club which you must book well in advance if you want to use them and again the staff cannot be more helpful. The hotel does everything possible to comply with all current regulation with sanitising station's through out the hotel and even better safety measures than other places I have visited, I feel as safe as I do at home at this hotel. Will be returning later in the year.

Ample parking, friendly staff, all observing Covid regulations, prompt service at reasonable prices. The hotel is located in the suburb of Barnhill in a quiet location, but less than 5 minutes by car from nearby beaches.

Stayed Thursday and Friday B & B and evening meal on one night . A lovely hotel clean and fresh decor. Food was delicious so we decided to eat there the 2nd night. The staff were all professional and friendly Nikki the general manager was very hands on and helpful. The pool was a great temperature and very relaxing. The grounds were nice. Been here many times and food is decent to average but today our snack lunch was very poor. The bread used fir sandwiches is like the thinnest cheapest supermarket stuff and is not what one expects in a restaurant. I would expect good quality sourdough or a seedy loaf not the limp stuff we were served. My elderly mother who goes very often remarked that the sandwiches have been poor for a while. The chips also appear to be from a frozen bag and not home cooked. The Mac n Cheese bites as a side befit a kids menu in a fast food chain or something out of an Iceland bag, again not home made. Very disappointing and it will be a while before we return. Sad as family have been going on and off for over fifty years.

Just back today from this lovely hotel.Room was large and bed very comfortable.Was really glad of the fan in the room as it was a very warm weekend. The staff were a credit to the hotel as well.Always cheery and ready to help. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious.Breakfast on the 2 mornings was great too. Will definitely be back!!!

Two nights dinner bed and breakfast. Wonderful value. Hotel spotless, rooms modern, food - great choice, well presented with attentive staff. We visit Dundee quite often and will be using the woodlands again. It's well worth traveling a wee bit further out of Dundee in order to enjoy the woodlands and AVOID the Queen's ! My wife and I booked a 2 night stay. I took unwell through the night on 1st night. Had kidney stones. Woodlands have just emailed me offering a one night stay in a top room as I had to cut short wee break. Fantastic gesture thank you

We have been to this hotel several times in the past and chose it for our first "staycation" as it was such a good hotel. However, this time just wasn't the same. The room was ok but there was a large crack in the bathroom basin - not sure if this would pass any health and safety tests. Buffet Breakfast was very cold, so the second and third morning my husband decided to go for an omelette. It was very large and the centre wasn't cooked properly. Evening meals were good with a good choice. Covid precautions were well adhered to.

This was our first trip after lockdown, Well worth the 14 month wait !!!!!! Service 1st class, Rooms 1st class, Food unbeatable, staff a credit to the training of Best Western Booking again for June xxx

My wife & I stayed in the hotel from 4th May 2021 , for 4 nights, booked through "myhotelbreak". It was a very good deal based on 4 breakfasts and 2 evening meals. We had upgraded to the king sized room and were not disappointed Breakfast each morning was very good, it was buffet style but as opposed to you taking your food, you selected what you wanted and a server put the food on your plate . For the benefit of the big eaters, there was no restriction if you wanted to return for more. Similarly, food was good at the evening meal, but remenber to book a time for food on arrival at reception All staff were friendly and helpful. It is an ideal location for touring and we would stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights this week on a bed and breakfast rate. It was not that busy though there were workers staying there.. several vans were parked in the car park and the workers appeared for breakfast. The breakfast was quite good , bacon was good and fried eggs cooked to order. All cutlery was in sealed plastic bags. We also ate dinner one night , scampi and chips which was good but had too many chips on the plate...We followed with ice cream/biscuits and cheese. The pool was superb and a good size and of course we had to book. We had to swim in our lane which was wide enough for 2. They took your temperature when you went in. The showers were closed so you rinsed at the pool one , dried yourself and dressed and then went to your room to shower.....just a sign of the times....by the 3rd swim we were used to it. It was the pool that made us choose this hotel. It was in a residential area and back from the main road. We would consider staying here again...we also used it as a base to go wa lks. We could choose to allow/ not allow staff in our room to change towels and tea/coffee but not change the bedding which we did.The bed was comfy and the hotel was quiet ...no air conditioning but you could open the windows which we like. The 2 night stay was not cheap.

Hotel is in a quiet peacfull area, just a few minutes walk to the river, where you can walk towards Dundee or go the other way to Monifieth. Broughty Ferry is a very short drive or you can walk along the river or main road. There you will find nice coffee shops and small businesses. The hotel is great we have stayed there many times, it is very clean with great food and staff are so helpful. All covid regulation are met and there is hand sanitisor stations throughout the hotel, all staff wear mask's as do visitors to the hotel. We cannot wait to return.

I have stayed in this hotel for the past 5 weeks and I have a work commitment for the next 5 months and im more than happy to be staying at this hotel as the staff and services are very good and I would highly recommend this hotel to all as its also quiet and in a great location.

Stayed here before and wasn't disappointed still as good staff very helpful and place was spotlessly clean . Dinner was excellent and good choice of menu as was breakfast. Room was very comfortable especially the bed and also a request for a walk in shower was provided. The hotel sits in lovely grounds with plenty Outside space to sit in good weather.

staff who can't do enough for you, first class service from them, the rooms were spotless, and the whole hotel is extremely clean. They also do a great dinner. Definitely would recommend it for a short or long stay.

We just enjoyed a three course lockdown meal delivered to our house and couldn't fault it. Delivered on time - fresh and hot. Thoroughly enjoyed every course and would highly recommend. Will definitely order again.

One of the thnings I like about Best Westen hotels is that they all have a very familiar, laid back, reassuring feel to them even though the actual buildings are often very different. The rooms were comfy and and spacious as always and the x2 complimentary Tunnocks Caramels are worth a star alone. Staff and the lady on reception in particular were very fiendly and amiable. Unfortunately I didnt have time to investigate the leisure faciities. £90.66 for the night was a bit steep, especially considering there was no fried eggs at breakfast. Surely scrambled eggs alone aren't enough to sustain any man, women or child?

Great location and service. Great value. King-size and comfortable bed, great shower and delicious pints of McEwans 80/- (room service).. what's not to like! Will definitely return and recommended for the comfort and value.

Just had a two night stay here. The food was amazing served by the very friendly Jodie. The hotels Covid precautions were very good and made you feel safe. Hand sanitiser stations everywhere and everything was individually wrapped after being sanitised (cutlery, remote control etc). Our room was spacious, comfortable and warm. Can't wait to get booked up again.

We really enjoyed our stay here and it was worth upgrading to the executive Wyldes room. The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The wifi connection wasn't great but didn't detract from our stay. It was my partners 60th birthday and the staff were helpful in allowing me to drop items off early for this which they placed in the room for him arriving. Thankyou.

I had to visit Broughty Ferry (near Dundee) for family reasons and booked the "Woodlands" which has been a well known hotel in the area for over the past 50 odd years (various "management" of course). I can honestly say it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were all very very friendly and helpful; the food was good - I had dinner and breakfast), the rate was excellent and the room was spacious and very reasonably equipped. I did not avail myself of the lovely looking swimming pool complex but would have had my stay been longer. As regards their "COVID" precautions....they were superb !..I can highly recommend "The Woodlands" to anyone visiting the area. Great value for money. Nice quiet very pleasant location too..and only a 15/20 minute taxi ride to the Dundee railway station (cost £13 ..a lot cheaper than the equivalent "down south" and a very friendly local driver).

Don't know if I was given the one room that was bad but this was awful, other doors slamming next door to us waking us up through the night, the shower power works on the same lever as the heat so you have to turn it right up to get a decent temperature but the power nearly knocks your head off and the extractor fan barely works. Damp patches all over the ceiling in both rooms. And abit of advice, if you want a decent night sleep don't look behind the headboard, definitely hasn't been cleaned since it's been put there. £100 is a ridiculous amount for the room we stayed in for 2 nights. Room 107, avoid at all costs.

This hotel is clearly doing well for meals and daytime social gatherings for teas etc. The current situation may have an effect on overnight bookings. There is very little that hotels can do as the constraints are almost daily changing.

We enjoy our visits to the Woodlands every time we visit there, which is has been many times over the last two years now. Very firendly and helpful Staff. We have enjoyed various different rooms throughout the hotel and all have been pleasant and comfortable. We have enjoyed our dinning from breakfast and evening meals on each of our visits. Enjoy using the facilities gym swimming pool and pre covid the sauna and steam room. We are looking forward to returning again at the end of November for a 3 nights DB&B. So can not wait.

Checked into room 124 and went straight back to reception to complain. The room was unfit for purpose, carpet had huge disgusting stain which should have been cleaned, sink had suspicious looking stain running from top to bottom which looked liked blood, disgusting and should never been missed by cleaner, shower was dirty, ceiling mouldy, walls in room badly marked. After staying at Invercarse Hotel we hoped the standard would have been the same very disappointed, good points the restaurant staff, service and food was very good but unlikely that we'd use hotel again after the first allocated room

Don't think I've ever given 5 stars for coffee! We booked in advance - 3 people, 2 households. We felt very safe, with lots of space between the comfortable sofas. Lovely coffee, pleasant surroundings, helpful staff - and superb shortbread. And an after dinner mint thrown in! What's not to like? Oh - and the price. Just over £6 for the 3 of us, all down to a 20% off promotion in October, plus a further 10% for a loyalty card.

We booked this hotel last minute when our plans changed due to the weather. On arrival plenty parking and quick check in. Room was a little dated but very big and clean with everything we needed. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because of the pool which unfortunately was booked up by scheduled slots due to covid precautions which was understandable but we hadn't thought of that. Staff called the following morning to say they'd had a pool cancellation and were offering families the slot. Kids were delighted to get a unexpected swim. All the staff we encountered were lovely and I would definitely stay there again.

This was our first effort at a hotel holiday with three kids under 5 and we weren't disappointed with Woodlands. Great location with a short walk down to the waterfront, helpful staff, clean rooms (we got a second connected room for our two older kids at the last minute and it was arranged with no hassle) and lovely food. Great stay.

If you want to spend your break cleaning and remaking your bed go for it. Room 134 filthy Completely ignored by receptionist when arrived as she took a phone call and spoke to a guest who has strolled up at the other side of the desk. Stood for ages while my child danced about shouting for the toilet. Customer service not the best. Room up 3 Flights of stairs, now bare in mind when I booked i was asked for the child's age, yet they saw fit to place us in the attic. 1 adult with a 4 year old. Bags and child in tow we struggled up 3 flights of stairs through a variety of doors. Not practical at all. Now that struggle up there, would have been bearable had the room been clean and decent. However, on arrival I used the loo. Bear in mind we are in the middle of a “global pandemic” Toilet: Previous guests used toothpaste marks on shelf under Mirror. Towel rail covered in dust from the 3rd bar down to the bottom. Clearly not cleaned! Then I went to unpack. I couldn't find the light switch for table lamp, just look at pictures!! Layers of filth on the bulb and surrounding. Absolutely Disgusting. Bed wall lights exactly the same! I've never seen the like, In all my years travelling for business and For pleasure. I travel consistently. The Room temp was unacceptably hot. The Radiator on at number 5, it's a tiny room. So I tried to open the tiny window! Look at pictures!! A Rotten tiny filthy window, with a make shift “diy” mechanism to keep it open. Definitely not child safe in the slightest. Not to mention the Window looks fit to fall out. So Bed time: I'm thinking surely it couldn't get worse? Sheets that don't even cover the mattress!! Look at the pictures! Breakfast in morning, the staff were lovely the food was good, I paid for this breakfast so it doesn't make the lack of cleanliness in the room Any easier to accept. There's a sever lack of cutlery. Yoghurts handed out without tea spoons, croissants in bags without side plates . Diabolical. Having stayed at a variety of hotels through the pandemic this really has been the worst I've seen for the star rating and price of this hotel. Given the current situation in the UK I strongly suggest best western turn their attention to housekeeping. Having used the best western chain for years corporately Across Scotland. This is my first time using it for pleasure, however, I will Never use this chain again In any capacity. I am disgusted. I do not recommend staying here. I wasn't given any support from reception and on a second attempt to bring the situation to someone's attention, there was no one on reception upon check out.

Wasn't expecting much but we were more than pleasantly surprised driving into a little forest upon arriving at Woodlands Hotel. Our room was very comfortable with plenty of room. Originally we were to spend only one night, but since we felt so at home we spent another. Enjoying the pool and restaurant/bar.

We would like to thank all the staff in their planning before during and after our daughters wedding, superbly lead by Nikki. During these difficult times they were great in helping us book rooms as we had various requirements. They explained online check in and express check out. Informed us of all current restrictions, with plenty of signs keeping you right and hand sanitiser on all tables as well as sanitising points around the hotel. Our week at the hotel felt like a home from home as nothing was to much trouble for them. The rooms were lovely, the breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food, The extensive lunch and dinner menu were well priced and tasted superb. (You must try the chefs homemade shortbread.) With Covid restrictions changing constantly they kept us informed so that the wedding could go ahead. We had an outdoor wedding ceremony (the first they had held, hopefully not the last as it was set out beautifully.) The day was spot on in every way. We are all looking forward to the full reception next year. This hotel is a little oasis in Broughty Ferry, and we VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Can't wait to return next year, if not before.

The Woodlands Hotel was an excellent venue for our Wedding. All the facilities; ceremony, catering, spacious accommodation, the whole package was extremely good value. All the staff were extremely professional and we would like to thank them for making our day such a fun and memorable experience. Thank-you to Nikki for organising our wedding and for her patience, advice and attention to detail throughout our stay, We really appreciate all you have done, especially with the circumstances. All our guests have remarked on how much they enjoyed the whole day. All food was lovely and there was great range on offer. Those of us who also stayed for a few days in the hotel, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Found the rooms spacious and comfortable. The hotel also has a few rooms which are great for wheelchair accessibility . Many of use can't wait until our next stay.

Nice hotel in nice area. Excellent COVID processes in use - room cards handed over in a sealed / sanitised bag. Very friendly reception and easy check in, comfortable room and within easy walking distance of the centre of Broughty Ferry.

During this COVID 19 crisis things in the hospitality sector have had to change. At Woodlands this meant electronic check in which ran smoothly. Cards for the room were in plastic bags as was the card with your room number and contact information. You immediately felt the hotel was taking thing seriously. The rooms were clean, neat and tidy. At the bar and restaurant all the tables had sanitiser on them for you to use. The tables were spaced out for social distancing and you felt safe. Food was good and good value. Throughout the hotel sanitising station were located in communal areas.

During our stay at this hotel we were very impressed by the safety measures in place around Covid. Sanitiser stations, staff masks, table service at bar and a one-way system in dining area (although not always followed by guests). As with our previous visits to this hotel the public areas were very clean and tidy. Our room was also very clean and comfortable. We chose to have breakfast in the dining area although a grab-and-go option was available. The breakfast menu had a wide range of options so we were happy. We dined at the hotel one night and had a lovely meal. The Crispy Panco Prawns starter and Sa!mon and Sea Bass mains were all delicious. We were well looked after by a trainee manager (sorry, don't know his name) with good chat and great service. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful. Located 10 mins walk from the beach it's a great place to stay.

Lovely location,, even though in a busy resdential area the hotel and grounds made it feel secluded Staff were great, attentive and helpful, shame the leisure facilities were closed, but this was down to Covid restrictions, not the hotels fault

We stayed here for the weekend, we had a lovely time, the staff are so friendly and helpful the food was fantastic, we upgraded to the four poster room and it was lovely, it's in a great location not far from he beach, we will definetly be back

I stayed here last week with ten work colleagues . This was arranged at very short notice and although a logistical headache for my employers ( we all came from different parts of the U.K.) , the staff here made us welcome immediately . Facilities were good and nothing was too much trouble for the front desk staff . Meals were good with very friendly and courteous breakfast staff and evening meals were very good from a surprisingly extensive menu . The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area with the picturesque river front esplanade a five minute walk away . Although we stayed for five nights for work I would be more than happy to bring my family here .

I have recently visited here for drinks, lunch and dinner trying to stay local due to the recent events. On every occasion staff have been very polite and helpful. Food both lunch and dinner has been very good and reasonable priced.

My experience was fantastic. The food at breakfasts and in the reasturant I would highly recommend. The staff was so efficient and followed strict hiegen policy. The rooms were all new and modern showers. It has a fantastic beer garden that creates a very relaxed atmosphere.

Friendly staff, nice clean and fresh rooms. Food tasty, pretty little garden.near good variety of local amenities. Covid procedures in place so felt very safe. A very enjoyable stay. Would go again. Had a pool which looked really nice but wasn't able to use it at the moment.

Last minute decision to join family for a night. So glad I did as apart from the company the hotel was lovely and peaceful. Very clean and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. Set in a lovely area looking onto trees at the entrance. I decided to upgrade to include dinner, no problem and very reasonably priced. Rooms were very warm and comfortable. Couldn't use pool as closed due to Covid guidance but it looked clean and inviting. Food was delicious and plenty choice available.Would definitely stay again.

We had dinner here recently, choosing to eat outside in the sun. The food was fabulous as always. Not fine dining, but really lovely, tasty dishes and quite a wide ranging menu. The team are friendly and usually always quite efficient.

Thanks to everyone at the Woodlands hotel - not long out of lockdown and you had thought of everything. It was only a shame we couldnt use the leisure facilities (not hotels fault - national lockdown) as i'm sure they would have also been excellent

We stayed for 1 night while visiting family in Broughty Ferry. We were a little concerned staying in a hotel due to the Covid pandemic, however we had no need to worry. Everything was spotless clean with safety measures in place in terms of distancing and hygiene. Check in was a breeze and the room was lovely. Breakfast was lovely and everything was handled extremely well. Very pleasant staff and no issues throughout our stay. Would recommend for couples and families.

Stayed for the wekend, not our first visit and wont be our last. Big thank you to Nikki and all her staff, too numerous to mention for their usual excellent service. Hopefully next time the leisure facilities will be open. Went the extra mile to make our stay save during this difficult time.

Stayed Monday to Saturday dbb. Room spacious and well furnished. Dining room set up safely for social distancing and well ventilated. Food excellent and staff very helpful and efficient. Really nice location and central for travel . Loved the holiday and will defo return. Leisure suite closed at present due to covid 19. It looks like a nice area to relax in when circumstances allow. The grounds are well maintained and attractive and there is a garden area to eat in if desired. Would recommend this hotel. Mary and Ian Gillespie.

Firstly the rooms are very basic and tired not as nice as advertised. We were in the extension were the walls are that thin we could hear everything from next door including every word of a phone conversation. Not one member of staff had a mask or visor on so did not feel comfortable during the meal services. We booked a DB&B package the menu was limited but the food was good, the sticky toffee pudding is excellent.Breakfast was very average as well. I would not stay at this property again.

After months of working from home we were desperate for a change of four walls. Having previously stayed at The Woodlands Hotel it was the first place that we thought of trying to escape to as we were sure that they would have all the adequate safety & hygeine measures in place and we were not dispappointed. This was the first weekend that Hotels and Restaurants were allowed to reopen and the hotel was busier than we expected. All hygeine measures are in place and we had no concerns at all. We did have an issue with disturbed sleep on the first night due to another resident however the issue was promptly resolved and we were moved to another room. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and people have to understand that there is a reduced seating capacity due to the Covid 19 restrictions so best to book beforehand. Only comment would be on the service at breakfast, which is now table service, was a bit slow and disjointed, however bearing in mind this was the first weekend of reopening staff are having to get used to a new way of working, I am sure that will be resolved once they have their staffing levels increased. We will be returning again soon.

Very professional safe experience, welcoming staff we only popped in for drinks, but will return. Its in a beautiful setting and well worthy of a visit. If the weather is nice, makes the experience that little bit more special.

They have the same food menu and if you do order online food they will send you to eat in the same room you sleep overnight.As a guest tried to get a table for dinner and no chance all tables booked by locally living people. I would not recommend at anytime

I had the pleasure of staying at this marvellous hotel last night. I turned off the road and was met by a wonderful and fresh looking hotel. Outside I mesmerised by the sounds of the wood pigeons and the birds in an idiiic location. At reception I was met with a warm Scottish welcome of a lady called Laura. She was exceptionally helpful and went above what I normal receive at hotels.(well done ) Remember this is during the time of Covid 19 . I ordered food from the restaurant and it was delivered to my room ... First time ever in a hotel it came in a foil tray and cardboard box.... Well the presentation was top noch and was very very tasty! ( Well done Chef) he even delivered to my room with a smile. The room was too high standard. Bed to my liking . Linen fresh Shower hot and powerful. All in all I would highly recommended this wonderful hotel.

excellent idea and great initiative set up for local people who usually frequent this lovely hotel restaurant and due to covid 19 cannot at present. the same delicious food delivered to you is a brilliant idea and a great help when one does not feel like cooking. meals we had were burger chips and onion rings. and also the sea bass with dauphinoise potatoes. both were exceptional the sea bass was perhaps a little on the small side but this could be as generally they cater to smaller portions requested by elderly people. also offering delivery locally of essential food and household items which is a godsend for some local people who cannot get to large supermarket or have access to a car or online. brilliant.

I had the pleasure of staying for a week at the Woodlands hotel, whilst training with my guide dog. I've stayed in many hotels over the years but I was blown away by the care and awareness of the staff at the woodlands. It was clear that they had been trained to know how to assist people with sight loss. At meal times Jack, Jodi and John to name a few, could not have been more helpful. They read the menu to me, described where my food was on my plate and were absolutely lovely. Dot in the leisure complex was also so helpful and kind, she couldn't do enough to help me. The food was excellent as were the facilities. I can't thank the staff at the Woodlands enough for their help. Walt the guide dog and I are very grateful and will be back to see you all soon!

I have had the pleasure of staying at the woodlands hotel in Dundee on more than one occasion every visit has been excellent, the staff are very welcoming and very friendly without being overbearing. The rooms are clean well presented and of a good size you can't ask for more.

Love staying at this hotel it is local to family and friends for when i visit, the staff are always pleasant, friendly and happy to help, Rooms are spacious and clean and breakfast is all delightful Garry

Service was five star from the Bar service to the private function in the Library. Stayed one night in a small double as a single traveller. Small double was actually very spacious. Great breakfast with excellent choice of hot and cold items. Wi-fi was excellent too. Very happy with stay there.

I have just returned from an overnight stay at The Woodlands Broughty Ferry, where I had booked an evening for work colleagues to celebrate business success. There were 13 of us and i had booked for us to have an evening meal and an overnight stay. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left the customer service we received was first class. The Hotel Manager Nikki Robertson and her entire team gave us a fantastic experience and could not have done enough for us. We had an evening meal in the private dining area and the food that we had was fantastic. The team had gone above and beyond to ensure that the room was set out beautifully and the waiting staff were so attentive. The hotel is in a beautiful secluded setting and would make a great base for a stay for any reason. All of the amenities of the local town are well withing walking distance but the amenities of the hotel and so good you may not want to bother! A great hotel with a lovely friendly feel, I would highly recommend it to anyone. I will definitely be back for leisure as well as business.

Six of us arrived for our pre-ordered lunch last week. The food was tasty, the service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. The menu is excellent for lunch with quite a variety of choices at reasonable prices. It also accommodates people who have a gluten intolerance or are vegetarians. I think we have found our monthly lunch venue :) A wee tip...book a table as this is a busy place.

We stayed at The Best Western in Broughty Ferry on the 15th January for a special Anniversary on a dinner,bed and breakfast deal. Everything was great especially the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

As we had been in the area, we decided to visit the Woodlands for a snack lunch. We made our way to the bar area and were met by a very friendly staff member. On saying we were wishing to have soup & sandwiches, we were shown to a table and presented with the menus. We were asked if we would like any drinks which we declined. The choice was excellent, with 2 types of soup and a large choice of sandwiches. Once we had ordered, the food came very quickly. We chose a mushroom soup accompanied by Tuna & sweetcorn sandwich, and a vegetable soup with a Ham, Tomato with honey mustard mayonnaise sandwich. Everything was excellent and all were nicely presented. The total cost was £12.50 which is excellent value today. Judging by the menu I think we;ll be back for a bar lunch. Before departing we visited the toilets which were spotlessly clean. There is a large car park in the hotel grounds.

Our family live nothing better than to stay at this hotel the staff are so friendly and helpful. We would recommend this to anybody looking to stay in broughty ferry/dundee. Fantastic food Swimming area is really good to relax

My wife and I had lunch here today. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and shown to our table. The restaurant supervisor welcomed us with the menus and explained the specials on today. My wife had vegetable soup followed by breaded fish, I had pea and ham soup followed by a chicken curry. Both meals were very well presented and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Welcome at reception was very friendly. Me and my son We stayed here for two nights. My room was spacious with comfortable bed . This place is very close to the beach is about 10 minutes walk.Very nice break.

Stayed here for a few nights as part of a wedding Weekend.We booked as part of a ‘special ‘ wedding rate however the rate was £40 more than Hotels.com would have charged for the 2 nights.Granted that rate didn't include Breakfast and the Hotel rate did however I still struggle to see what was ‘special ‘ about the Wedding rate.The Hotel itself is dated and in need of modernisation and given the fact it was January you would have thought the room would have had heating on to welcome you following check in. Check in itself was an experience as we had to wait until the Receptionist dealt with a phone call without even acknowledging the fact we were stood right in front of us! This despite there were many other staff members in the vicinity.The room itself was small and the bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable.If the wedding meal was anything to go by then I wouldn't be eating here for lunch or dinner.It was that bad!!All in all it was extremely disappointing and if we were in the area would certainly not stay again.

If your heritage is anything else but white British, then this hotel isn't for you. I had family visiting and my family member of Jamaican heritage was referred on a note left on the reception desk as coloured. Why on earth they felt the need to refer to someone by the colour of there skin is disgusting. Never mind leaving the blatant racist comment on the reception desk for all to see. When I complained, the manager was sincere in her apology, but racism shouldn't be happening in this day and age!

My sister had her wedding here last Saturday and everything was perfect. We were able to decorate the room the previous day even though the hotel was still closed for staff holiday. The managers couldn't have been more helpful, nothing we asked was too much bother for them and they dealt with our requests quickly. The venue was perfect for a wedding, very accessible as no stairs in all main function areas. The room for the reception was stunning. The 3 course meal was fantastic, soup served piping hot, silver service for main course and desserts brought quickly. Staff were very attentive and turned the room around quickly for the evening party. We were given The Wyldes suite to get ready and for the bride and groom to spend their first night. It was beautiful. We stayed overnight and I couldn't fault the room. Breakfast was plentiful and you could help yourself to what you wanted. By the time we had finished breakfast, the staff had cleared all our wedding stuff and reset the room for another party. Very efficient! I would highly recommend this hotel for any kind of party/function. Wish we could do it all again!

We were recently married at The Woodlands Hotel, we cannot recommend it enough! The staff are fantastic, the day went smoothly and was exactly what I wanted. Nikki, the manager dealt with me throughout and was fantastic! We were so happy with everything regarding our wedding, the small details of our stay, and everything else.

Best Best Western stay ever and I am a Diamond member. The families were very clean and finely cared for. Our room was spacious, well equipped, very comfortable bed. We needed good internet and were satisfied with the connection speed. The restaurant service was excellent and friendly and the food good.

We have been 8 times at Woodlands & will go again - it is ideal location for us within 2 hours of home! Enjoyed the back massage at Good Intensions with Christine. We were lucky with the weather which is a bonus.!

Having to come up to Dundee for a family funeral, from Leeds, we booked into this hotel for the first time. We experienced a very comfortable stay with everything we needed. We are planning to come back again next year for a longer stay and bringing friends with us. The whole aspect of the hotel was very good from the room to the staff

Went for pre show dinner using vouchers we received as gifts. Had a lovely two coarse meal & drink before medium show at hotel. Really enjoyable night. Haven't stayed overnight at hotel yet but staff were very helpfull & friendly.

Only stayed one night for business. Wish I had stayed longer. Great facilities, pool as gym. Welcome at reception was really friendly. The meal I had for dinner was class. Nice breakfast as well.would I go back, absolutely

Stayed for few nights. DBB and BB. Excellent rooms food fabulous. Only stayed one night DBB as we were going out for the day and did not know when we would be back. Staff were happy to change days we had DBB. Food was piping hot. Leisure facilities excellent. Staff were very helpful. Hotel was warm although very cold outside. Staff in dining room were excellent and obliging. Would stay again.

I have stayed at the Woodlands hotel many time and am pleased to see their hard work and effort has paid off as the hotel has expanded significantly over the year. The Leisure centre is great and service is always first class. the rooms are large, well decorated and clean. My only worry is that with a good review they may be too full to book me in on my next trip!!!!

This place is excellent in every way. Plenty of parking, comfortable rooms with everything you could want in them. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are wanting a nice place to stay.

We celebrated our ruby wedding with a party for 95 in the Woodlands Hotel. The management and staff were all very professional, helpful and supportive. Special thanks to Peter, Nicki and Aileen who helped us plan the party and made sure it ran like clockwork. The young waiting staff ensured our meal was served piping hot and the food was delicious. Specific dietary requirements were well catered for. The facilities at the hotel are great, swimming pool, steam room, sauna and gym. Over 20 of us stayed in the hotel and the rooms were clean with tea, coffee and biscuits and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. A great team at the Woodlands made our celebrations a memorable event.

Friendly staff and good facilities. Room could have done with a reading light but was comfortable and had all the facilities you would need. Restaurant good, more informal than anything but food selection was good and very well prepared. Location not ideal - over a mile from the station and town centre, but fine if you have a car.

We had a room in the Abercrombie wing. It was spacious, clean and had good quality furniture. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Breakfast consisted of good quality products and was well laid out

Just back from a 2 night stay at the woodlands and it has been amazing! It just happened to be my wedding.. ;-) The staff were incredible, they should be so so proud of themselves. They are all lovely people. I could mention them all but Aileen has been there from day1 of our wedding journey and straight through to the end. Lovely woman and her personality shines through. Rooms were spacious, clean, tidy! Breakfast was delicious. I have no faults. We had a big meal on the Friday night and the food was excellent. Can't wait for my next stay/meal! Thanks everybody!!

Really friendly staff that are happy to go the extra mile. While this was a one night trip, I would certainly book this hotel again. Ample parking, decent food, well prepared and a very handy location if in the Dundee & Angus area. Good value and came away feeling like I would return.

I spent 10 days here. The reason was to train with a new guide dog. The accommodation and food are better than excellent. The staff are the kindest and friendliest people you will ever meet. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone that will be visit the Dundee are. Or even just for an over night stay.

Quiet location with good off road parking. Restaurant, bar and leisure centre all very good. Rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you might need. Service with a smile and overall package makes you want to return.

Lovely setting in trees, front, reception & public areas generally very clean & well presented. Staff generally very pleasant, but some more helpful than others. I had a dreadful experience here with room 126 which is the triple family room. This SHOULD have been a perfect room for our needs; great size, 3 beds rather than bed settee; good storage; room in 2 parts. However, as w opened the door, the heat & smell hit us despite all the windows being open. There were fans provided but these were broken. I was unable to adjust the heat of the towel rail which was stuck at max and thus caused 3 burns as well as meaning that the bathroom was constantly too hot. After a shower, you need another shower because it is so hot. This is extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable. The double glazed window unit is broken at hinges, therefore unable to be opened or properly closed. The sash windows have a gap behind, often to rafters which unfortunately in our case, allowed a number of wasps in to the room. The smell of kitchen grease is overpowering although you become noise bound once you've been in the room a while. Everything that we had with us was still stinking when we got home resulting in a much greater amount of laundry & cleaning than should have been necessary. There were many other smaller complaints. All in all, we had a horrible stay and no offer of discount or refund. Sadly, the experience would put me off ever returning here. Very disappointing. If you're using the leisure facilities, you might want to have flip flops or slip on shoes as changing areas can be wet & slippy, otherwise no complaints. Staff pleasant. Good facilities.

We stayed last Saturday night, the room was gorgeous (king suite) The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lady on reception was good, chatty and helpful. Will definitely be returning. The location is beautiful too and lots of car parking spaces

A comfortable hotel with all the modern facilities, including a swimming pool and a fitness centre. We spent three very pleasant nights stay and found the menu and food up to the expected standard. Our room, however, could have been even more user friendly with the addition of a coffee table to put hot drinks, magazines, etc., on in front of the comfortable settee.

We came back for our 1st wedding anniversary, we also got married here. It was just perfect from start to finish. Lovely, helpful staff. Beautiful evening meal, service was excellent. The room was just perfect too, spacious and comfortable Highly recommend the Woodlands Hotel

When traveling internationally, I may have to cross Best Western off list. This makes twice making internet reservations resulted in an error. Last time, Eaglesham did not get the Reservation Woodlands got a reservation for two rooms. The receptionist wanted to charge me for both until I called Best Western customer service. The bed had problems as you felt springs through padding. There was fried blood on furnace handles and furnace barely have off heat. The bar and kitchen was great.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a B&B basis with dinner on the 1st night.There is ample free parking at the hotel We had an issue with the 1st room (room 111) being positioned directly at the communal fire exit door, which was very noisy, as it was used by everyone on the landing . It was remedied by the very efficient Laura at reception and the following evening we were upgraded to a king room with huge bed which was perfect. Also Nikki at reception had told us just to leave our bags in the old room, enjoy our day and on our return our bags would be in the new room, excellent hassle free service The evening meal was very good, fresh and ample amounts Similarly, breakfast was very good, buffet style, eat as much as you like,the hot food included bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, beans & potato scones and also good selection of fruits, yogurts etc A tip for breakfast; if you want fried, omelette or poached eggs order them from the waitress when you order tea or coffee as there is only scrambled egg on the buffet, we watched several people select their hot breakfast before realising that eggs other than scrambled, had to be ordered. It does tell you on the menu, but not everyone reads the menu at buffets All in all, a very good base , clean and friendly staff. We would without doubt, return here

This hotel, we have found was excellent all round. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The room was spacious, clean and fresh. It was adequately equipped with tea coffee etc. The food in the dining room was tasty We ate here both evenings.

Stayed here for two nights for my son's wedding which was in the hotel and was very impressed with the professional and smooth running of the whole event.. The staff were all polite and helpful and did an excellent job. Our executive room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for either an event or just a stay.

Hotel is welcoming aesthetically and personally. On first visit's stay, room was recently refurbished and lovely. On my second visit, my room was one which had not been refurbished and, although clean, looked a little tired. Staff, service and food was great. Swimming pool was a good size and easily accessible. Good stay.

Attended a Wedding here on 14th September. I have quite unusual food allergies and the chef could not have been more accommodating. When I phoned to enquire about this the girl on reception was so helpful and within minutes she had passed on my requirements and I had an email from the chef to clarify my meal options etc. All of the staff on the day were so polite and the day ran smoothly. Well done to the staff as not every wedding venue gets it right!

A first time visit to this hotel for a weekend break to Dundee decided to stay in Broughty Ferry away from the centre and my husband and I found a gem ..from the time of check in the staff were welcoming and very helpful the hotel was clean food in the restaurant was very good for both breakfast and dinner. Our room was very comfortable and we came away feeling very relaxed from our stay....well done to Nickki the General Manager and Staff.

Booked this 2 night break with friends dinner bed and breakfast. Lovely hotel in nice part of Broughty Ferry comfortable rooms with great food especially at dinner. The service in the hotel was excellent from helpful reception staff to waiting staff . Didn't use leisure services as out all day but looked inviting. Easy commute into Dundee and the east coast towns. Would return here and recommend to friends .

In among trees, in a quiet area near the seaside town of Broughty Ferry, sits the lovely Woodlands Hotel... The food on the dinner menu was delicious - 'smoked salmon two ways' was especially wonderful as a starter, followed by haggis-stuffed chicken ( for me ) & sea bass for a friend. ( booking for dinner recommended ) There's a relaxing bar area and a small leisure pool, with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room & gym...perfect for a pre-breakfast swim ! The staff are pleasant and helpful.

I use this hotel frequently and it is reliably friendly, welcoming and relaxing. Never any issues and the staff are helpful. Food is good if not fancy and the pool is an added benefit. always good value for money.

Room service is good, and bar downstairs really good. However i was looking forward to a kingsize bed as i paid for a king room instead of a double which says ‘extra large bed' to my surprise it was two beds joined together. I wasn't a happy bunny! What's the point in that? So uncomfortable on the back!

Stayed here on a few occasions but this time was disappointing. Breakfast was as usual very good, with a good selection of both hot and cold food. Check in was average and the last time the receptionist spoke to us till we left 4 days later, we were in and out 4 days and never a welcome hello. The only interaction from the staff was at breakfast asking if we would like tea or coffee. The buffet breakfast was good with a great selection of both hot and cold. The room was small but comfortable apart from you couldn't see out of the bedroom window as it was in the style of a bathroom window, I would rather have looked at the brick wall !!. The hotel in general was very clean and the amenities were of a good standard. Despite the window issue I would recommend this hotel and I will be back.

We had to be moved to another room as we were at the back of the hotel next to a cottage where they were having a barbecue with lost of people it was ridiculousy loud. Hotel rooms need air conditioning!

It's rare to visit a hotel where all the team are friendly, smile and are happy to help. From reception to bar to leisure centre, so thank you everyone for a pleasant stay. The room upgrade was appreciated and very opulent, my mini me loved it. The hotel is perfectly placed for monifeith or the ferry, which is quaint and amazing. Having visited all the time as a kid myself it hasn't lost its charm. This is the third time in a year I've used best western and this is the only one I'd revisit. Many thanks

We had a lovely meal at the hotel restaurant booking in advance for our large party that included 5 children under 6 years old plus an adult wheelchair user. The library room was perfect for us and hopefully the other two tables weren't overly disturbed by our kids and the singing of Happy Birthday for one of our group. From the moment of booking, the staff were warm, friendly and got the right dessert with candle for the birthday boy! Food was tasty and sea bass in particular. Kids meals cooked fresh as we asked for fish goujons in batter instead of breadcrumbs and the kitchen could do this so you know it's freshly prepared. The banana and marshmallow skewers for kids dessert is a hit! All in all, a great meal and great service. Lunch time deal is a real bargain so make sure you check that out too!

Loved the pool and jacuzzi. Hotel is nice and secluded, surrounded by tall trees. A very countryside feel for a hotel so close to Dundee. Staff were friendly. No lift available which wasn't mentioned when booking or at check in.

In the restaurant on our first night we asked at the end of our dinner to split the bill50/50 between my friend and I as when we go away we always split everything in this way. We were told by the waiter and the restaurant manager that this was not possible and had to call for the duty manager to get it resolved and surprise surprise the blame for this cock up was place squarely on the computer system. On our second night we ate out!!!!!

Had a fabulous stay in this hotel. Hotel is in a lovely setting and well maintained/tended both inside and outside. Room was decorated to a high standard, spacious and very comfortable. It was a tad warm but there was a fan which was welcome. Very clean too. Food was a good standard. First morning service was a bit disorganised but second morning was fine. There were no side plates on the tables or beside the buffet area and mugs rather than cups and saucers. This meant there was nowhere to put teaspoons/butter sachets etc. This is a small gripe though. Staff dealt with everything well and were friendly. Leisure facilities good and enjoyed the pool. Will certainly recommend the Woodlands.

Stayed here prior to a round of golf at Monifieth. Hotel is in an excellent location for the angus golf courses and convenient also to Dundee. Check in was a little chaotic as a coach party had just arrived so felt a little u welcoming but I don't believe this was the intention. Just a case of the 50th person checked in and felt sorry for staff. I was in an executive double room. Room was spacious and bathroom modern. I have to say the inclusion of a fan in the room was very appreciated. In addition the bed was very comfortable! Kudos! Breakfast quality wise was good (I'd an omelette) but my only grumble with hotel was how busy service was. Again it seemed a coach party were all eating at same time and it was a bit mental! Almost fighting to get near buffet. Would stay here again though and great value for money.

Hotel is in a great location only around a 10min walk from train station with very good spacious room and great facilities on site. All staff i spoke with were very helpful with any request i had. If im ever back in Broughty Ferry i will stay again

Stayed here to attend a sporting event. There's plenty of parking. Reception were efficient and the room was good. I hate those sweaty mattress protectors!! The room was quite warm and we did get noise from the function downstairs. The shower is great and we used the leisure facilities too. I'm NEVER going to pay £10 for a breakfast but we did eat dinner there one night and it was average. Chips looked anemic! Staff were very helpful and nice so all in all a good stay.

Having recently lunched at The Woodlands Hotel the stander of the meals presented is not of the same quality produced at The Invercarse Hotel and the Birdie Inn. I cannot understand this as they are all part of the Redwood Group. I would be reluctant to dine in that hotel again.

Having a lorry sometimes means getting access to hotels can be tricky but took a chance booking here. I got an email an hour after booking to say they've been out an coned off a section of the car park just for us Now THATS customer service for you. The hotel was clean the food great and breakfast plentiful , defo stay again no problem.

Booked here for 2 nights as a base for work. What a mistake I should have checked out when I checked in. The receptionist who dealt with me very unfriendly didn't smile ask me if I had stopped before just demanded my card whilst assisting the other receptionist who was struggling. I had to ask where to dine as I was not told. After various stairs turns and poor signage I find the room. I like old buildings with character but I was not asked if I needed help with my luggage. The room is the size of a matchbox with an even smaller bathroom. The window only opens slightly so no air can cool the room. The view is that of a wall. The shower is so small even I cannot fit in in I'm 5'3 and I couldn't shower properly. The wardrobe door hits the metal on the room door every time you open it. Thankfully and the only reason I didn't check out there was a fan to cool the room. I slept terribly because of the heat it's really not acceptable to have windows that barely open and to top it all a notice from housekeeping telling you its locked. Food was poor, the restaurant staff are friendly enough. Macaroni cheese was tasteless and the garlic bread over powering. Breakfast was an absolute disgrace, seated but not given any idea of whether self serve etc, offered hot drinks. The cold buffet was plentiful but not one pair of tongs to be seen. I have no desire to eat toast that other people have touched. The hot selection was terribly poor. The hot plates were not hot they were clay cold. The scrambled egg was cold the mushrooms again cold, potato cake tasted of grease, bacon cold. I ended up with a yoghurt. I wouldn't stop here again its clean that's about it, old tired rooms that should have been a single not a double, tiny bathroom, no view, windows that don't open, tired public areas, evening meal poor, breakfast even worse. Oh you can park easily plenty of space. It's also not single female traveller friendly I was given a room at the end of a corridor not great, asked my room number twice in earshot of other guests. Even Premier Inn look after the single ladies.

I visited the hotel for a weeding and was placed in a wheelchair accessible room as there was no other room available. Unfortunately, I was not (made) aware those rooms cannot be used by a person who is not in a wheelchair. The bathroom sink hit my knee, I had trouble using the shower because it was not adjustable to my height. The hair dryer was attached inside a drawer with a cord so short you almost had to put your head inside it - there is not exaggeration in my statement and I do not know how that setup could be considered accessible. The mirror was also away from that drawer. I attempted to curl my hair but there was no outlet within a reasonable distance from the mirror. Basically the mirror is permanently placed in a location where you are not able to fix your hair and the light is bad for makeup. In terms of how comfortable my room was, I honestly would not be able to give it one star. Those rooms should not be booked for a person who is not in a wheelchair unless they make the bathroom adaptable to both needs. On a positive note, breakfast was very good.

We have stayed at this hotel before and had a really nic e time so decided to go back. The staff, the restaurant and the rooms are all excellent. The leisure facilities are smashing as well. All in all highly recommended.

Lounge area friendly and decor smart Staff were attentive and helpful Only issue is noise ,there was a party going on in one of the rooms,as the rooms all face into a courtyard the noise carried ,not the best of sleeps that night but not the hotels fault

Attended a function in the ballroom, initially the service was slow, this improved as more staff appeared, food was OK but have enjoyed better food and service in their main restauarant. The hotel has a large free car parking area.

To celebrate a “significant” birthday I decided to treat my wife and friends to lunch at the Woodlands. We were given the Library to ourselves and had our own waitress Jac. The hotel had decorated the room beautifully including floral decorations in my wife's favourite colours. They had also printed personalised menus with a vast array of choices.we were not hurried or rushed. My guests all remarked that the lunch had been perfect. Well done Woodlands. Nikki your staff are a credit to you!

I had an enjoyable three weeks here. This hotel is excellent. The staff are welcoming, the breakfast caters for all tastes and the food is high quality. The facilities are excellent, pool, gym, sauna. The only drawback is the unexciting dinner menu. This is Scotland, where are the scallops, where are the langoustines and where is the venison. This needs addressing.

Enjoyed a three night stay here. Rooms are very quiet and comfortable. Despite there being a large function on one evening and large groups staying another evening, I was never aware of any noise in my room ( ground floor), or corridor. The first evening I was a guest at a small function in the library. This is an ideal space for a small get together. There was a wide choice of food at both breakfast and dinner and meals were excellent. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful in all areas of the hotel and there was a very friendly warm atmosphere throughout. The hotel is in a delightful secluded situation but within easy reach of Broughty Ferry shops and sea front, and Dundee is easily accessible by car or public transport. All in all a most enjoyable experience

We have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and have never had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Food is excellent, and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. This time we held our Golden Wedding celebration in the Library with a small group of friends. Every detail was thought of from the table layout, printing of special menus and the service of the staff. We will be back

We have stayed here in the past as a couple on numerous occasions. This however was our first trip away with our little boy. All in all we had a fab few days away from home and as usual the staff were fab, the room (104) was clean - although dated and in need of redecoration - and the food was fine. Unfortunately the only dampener to our holiday was our noisy neighbour, his phone alarm ringing from 4am for a whole hour was very frustrating and it didn't wake him up(!!!) but it certainly kept all of us awake from early morning. After the first night of our stay I mentioned to reception that his tv was very loud and his phone alarm was frustrating to say the least so the hotel manageress said she'd ask him to keep it down. He did turn down his tv however he didn't deal with his alarm issue, therefore on the second morning I phoned his room myself to wake him up and thankfully he turned off the alarm. The next night I had to call reception to ask him to keep the noise down as he was on FaceTime/Skype to a woman and we could hear every single word of the conversation including expletives! He therefore took himself to the bar but yet again at 4am his alarm started ringing, I phoned reception to ask the night porter to contact him about this but he didn't pay any attention to this message....the alarm continued to ring and tell the time every 2 minutes! At 6am he received a phone call and it transpired he's slept in and was late for his pick up outside!! All in all very frustrating. I realise that we were accommodated in a room with an adjoining door to the next room as these rooms are larger for a z-bed for our son however I'd much rather in future be in a room without an adjoining door, even if the space would be a bit cramped. Should this ever happen to us again I will not hesitate in asking to change room, I didn't request this on this visit because I didn't want to upset the staff - there all so nice and work hard without dealing with awkward guests. If this man should be a regular visitor to the hotel I think there should be a marker put against his name to keep him away from other guests as he's totally inconsiderate and rude.

My Girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights and it was a lovely experience. All staff were very polite, friendly and so helpful. Over the course of our weekend there were private functions and weddings and we did not find any lapse in service or disregard from the staff. Overall a great venue with lovely surroundings and pool and leisure facilities. Thank you best western. Broughty ferry.

Another amazing experience. Pam provided a warm welcome at reception and we were soon in our quality room before relaxing in the comfy bar lounge. The leisure facilities are exceptional with locals exchanging handy tips to guests The Woodlands is in a cracking location and a great place for a short break.

Checked in really late as we had travelled far. Laura who was on Reception checked us in. She moved us rooms as the stairs for the first room were just a tad too much for my partner who had recently been ill. She then helped us move our luggage and settle in to the new room and was very friendly. I am writing this because her shift had ended at 11pm and she was still helping us at 11.25pm and hence she went that one step further than most would of. The room was lovely, modern and spacious. Will be staying again! Thanks

Attended for a friends wedding. Stayed in a disabled room which was clean and comfortable. Staff were fantastic and helpful, nothing was a problem. Due to dietary requirements things can be awkward, the chef was fantastic and catered to our needs. Recommend staying.

We were a party of 7 golfers and stayed on a B&B basis. The rooms were clean, staff friendly and we had a nice time. I swam in the pool and it was great. The gym seemed to be well used by non-residents and residents alike. Breakfast was ok - I felt the service a little slow at times because breakfast for most people needs to be eaten before they go and do something else so we didn't have ages! The staff were nice and really no complaints at all. Our rooms were as expected and well equipped but my room was like a furnace when I walked in on Sunday evening with the heating turned full on. Even turning off radiator and opening windows left the room warm for the rest of the night. If I was being picky - and why not - the beds were firm and so were the pillows. The shower in my room was great but the pressure, not temperature fluctuated considerably. If we were away again in the area we would stay there again.

3rd visit and as before most enjoyable. Food is excellent with a fairly wide choice and always presented with friendly and helpful staff.Jodie is very attentive and courteous. Room very comfortable and modern Dining room could be doing with a fresh coat of paint and a change of windows blinds. Otherwise good hotel and would return

It was our anniversary weekend lovely hotel, easy to find, great ice cream shop in brought ferry Italian place last there 24 yrs ago. Used pool &, Jacuzzi clean pleasant staff all through hotel nothing was a bother

We have stayed at the Woodlands a few times. Always a pleasure to visit and a pain to leave. This time a short 3 night break with a 2 course dinner each night and breakfast. First dinner, my wife and I both are omnivorous, with a peach ant for good fish. My wife had 3 different fish dishes, all were superb with the star of the trip the sea bream, heaven on a plate she said. I on the other hand went for other dishes, the steak and wine casserole/pie was very very good, but the stand out meal as far as I am concerned was the seafood linguine that I had on Saturday, absolutely glorious. The breakfast was a feast, I love potato scones and the scones here were as good as my wives homemade, smoked bacon a decent black pudding and good sausages what more can you ask for. The room was in the older part of the hotel, high ceilings, big coving double aspect and a good small bathroom with bath and shower, to keep everyone happy. I must single out John in the restaurant for praise he worked hard was always cheet, and very quickly learnt that I likes 2 eggs for breakfast. He had a word for all the guests and never took himself too seriously. A good example for all the young staff members to emulate.

We stayed in pleasant surroundings and we were served by pleasant, friendly helpful staff. The quality of food in the restaurant was excellent and was none to expensive. The room we stayed in was most comfortable and tastefully decorated. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Had a four night stay here. Breakfast was good and because we were a large group it started earlier than normal. Room was clean, bed comfortable, tv and bathroom fine. Heating controls responded well to alteration when required during very cold weather. Used the pool and sauna and steam room every night because it was well presented and maintained, but the poolside walkway could be slippery. Plenty of parking, but the hotel a few miles from Dundee City. So everything hunkydory? Well , no. The reception staff are in serious need of some training. I Don't know what their previous role was before this hotel but as another reviewer has stated, they were awful.

We stayed here because we needed to be in Dundee for a family funeral. We called ahead because we knew we would be late to check in. Hotel called back very quickly to tell us this was not a problem. It's a bit dated inside but it seemed clean and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Only issue was that the bed was very soft and if either of us rolled over we nearly fell out!

I was happy with my room and facilities etc. Plenty of parking. The cleaning staff were great. The reception staff were awful. No one is ever at reception - always in a back room and there's no bell etc to get attention. When someone eventually came out they seemed really annoyed I'd disturbed them (each time).

The staff were very welcoming and helpful.Dinner was delicious.There is a pleasant bar area. The room was comfortable. For breakfast, there was a choice of buffet or made to order items.I enjoyed porridge and poached eggs, both made to order. There's a small swimming pool,jacuzzi. gym, sauna & steam room. Stayed here over 1 year ago and had several issues with food and service.We were emailed by hotel direct for a D.B.&B package and as it appeared to be good value decided to try here again.From check-in to leaving the service was excellent as was the evening meals on both nights and breakfast was very good as well.We opted to pay a little extra for a room with king-size bed and it was superb and very quiet.Like being in a different Hotel this time just, a great two day break in a great area.

The hotel made our stay at Dundee superb experience. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the pool with the sauna and hot tub was very relaxing, the food in the restaurant was lovely and the bar was very handy, but the best thing had to be the incredible room...AMAZING!!!

Spent an overnight on7th/8th of April and as usual it was really nice and welcoming.We use this hotel on a regular basis as we find it has everything you need for a break.Food was lovely and breakfast was excellent and we will no doubt be back here soon

looking forward to nice night away unfortunatley not the best experience. I don't mind a dated room, but it felt not very clean as lots of dust everywhere, mattress very thin and uncomfortable. Food in restaurant poor, had the chicken burger, but all you could taste was over powering onion chutney, roll was very doughy, poor presentation, you get better in Weatherspoons for half the cost

Lovely stay at the Woodlands Hotel. Location is fabulous. I really liked the comfy interior of the hotel, nice to just sit an relax with a coffee. The room itself was pleasing and I didn't have any immediate concerns. Nice sleep in a comfy bed (missed breakfast!). Although I never had time to use the leisure facilities, it looked good. Overall, happy with stay.

Staysd two nights for short break. Have stayed at Woodlands previously and expected to have a good experience. We were not disappointed, the staff were very helpful, our room was warm and very comfortable.The bar area is very relaxing, comfy sofas to enjoy a drink.ate both nights in the hotel restaurant , good choice on menu , food delicious. I always enjoy our stay at the Woodlands Hotel. The staff are welcoming and so helpful. Pam on reception checked us in quickly and was really friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are comfy. The hotel leisure facilities are great with a gym, sauna, steam room and pool. The pool and changing areas are clean and well maintained. The restaurant menu is varied and the food is good. We will definitely be back.

Totally enjoyable stay except for the bed which was a double and my husband and I are not used to sleeping in a double. It was comfy and would have been fine for one person that thrashes in their sleep not two. Should have gone for the twins. The room was clean and tidy, staff pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast, the on-site pub and the meal we had in the restaurant. Good choice of red wine at a price that didn't break the bank. Good water pressure in the shower and the gym and pool area was better than expected. Tons of free parking. My only complaint was I didn't love the coffee but that is so minor it almost doesn't count. Hotel is in kind of a residential area but close enough to bus stops if you don't have a car or want to walk into town. Tons of attractions in the area including some fab historical sites.

Came here for a family event, normally the food is quite good. But on this occasion it was woeful, I ordered the "sticky BBQ burger with mozzarella on a cobbled sesame seed bun". It was a cheap sesame seed bun, with a cheap burger patty, a sprinkle of grated mozzarella and some BBQ sauce from a bottle. I felt embarrassed to be served it, as did the people I was with. Didn't want to make a fuss due to the occasion. But if I had served that to a guest at my house, I'd have been ashamed. So I don't know how a chef could produce that and be happy about it.

Extensive free parking in a residential area of the city. I meet regularly with friends for coffee and biscuits and we have never been disappointed with the food or service from the friendly and welcoming staff.

Stayed for 1 night on business trip. Room was really comfortable and actually had great lighting which is rare in hotel rooms. It was warm, but I could open the window and it was in a lovely quiet area. The evening meal in the hotel was exceptional and very friendly service. I used the gym which was very well equipped for a hotel gym. Was going to use the pool, but it was very small so didn't bother, but the gym more than made up for it.

we stayed for two nights in an Executive room. Good size room though not a King-size bed and only one chair. Normal tea and coffee tray though no water. Two fingers of shortbread which we shared in afternoon. Good size shower. If you are staying more than one night, bring some biscuits as they are only supplied for first night!! That's what reception told us on our second afternoon. Bar prices are reasonable in the comfortable lounge bar area. This appears to be the only sitting area in hotel. Food in evening was very good on first night, though Chilean house wine was very peppery. Breakfast buffet was standard with a good variety. Fresh eggs cooked to order as only scrambled on buffet. Enjoyed our stay about twenty minutes walk down into the town centre. Lots of eating places there, we ate in Ship in on our second night, upstairs in restaurant. Excellent food in particular the Fish pie. Fisherman's Hotel a lovely place for a drink.

Great hotel,great price,Had dinner first night.it was fab staff so pleasant do anything to make the guests happy.also free car parking.The swimming pool.nice with sauna Turkish and jacuzzi. Small gym.very good place.

This hotel is really great value for money and very well appointed. The rooms are nice a big, the staff are just lovely and the food if really superb for the cost. The leisure complex has a brilliant gym and a first class, all one level, pool as well as a steam room and sauna. All in all I highly recommend it.

Hotel is attractive and set in its own grounds with plenty of parking spaces. Our room was in the modern part and was clean and comfortable. Food was very good. We felt that we got good value for what we paid. Broughty Ferry is a nice place to visit. The hotel was well situated for buses into Dundee.

For a short stay we found this hotel very adequate. First night bed took some getting used to. Rest of stay fine. Bathroom sink cracked plus some tiling Very convenient bus service into Dundee for the V & A Museum.

My fiance, my son and myself stayed here over the weekend for a family wedding. When we arrived we were given a room in the old part of the hotel. We noticed the room smelled of old cooking oil which was coming from the kitchen below us. The decor of the room was very outdated. The mattress on the bed was very thin and the springs crunched every time we moved. The bedside tables were not attached to the wall and my 15 month old managed to pull one down on top of himself, hurting his leg. we were put on the first floor which wasnt very handy when trying to get a pram upstairs as there was no lift. I booked this 'family room' a year ago and expected alot more from our stay. We payed alot of money for the room we received. Very disappointed with the overall experience! If you do stay here make sure you request to stay in the new part of the hotel!

First time at woodlands for a wedding. We had a fantastic day hotel was lovely, staff very accommodating and helpful. Hotel very clean and tidy, food very good too. Would definitely recommend for a wedding venue to others.

A bit dated in parts could do with a freshen upA damp smell very relevant in bathroom, we had to change room, but to be fair it was done efficiently without fussOther room had a slight smell too but not as bad as first one, so just put up with itIf you book, check there is not a wedding onWe arrived to find one on, having booked for a quiet night away, which it was not due to lounge being full of guests and said guests making lots of noise in corridors till 1.45 amBut having said all that the staff were excellent and a great breakfast provided The dinner menu could do with a bit of revival, you would get half the menu in any pub bar

On arrival first impressions love it very presentable,girl at reception very helpful leisure amenities were brilliant,We had a beautiful steak which was perfect for dinner I've yet to be at a hotel which offers a better breakfast buffet

previously stayed at this hotel just before christmas.We had to come to Dundee again this week and decided to stay here overnight.All the staff are really nice and our room was very comfortable.Will definately come back if in the area.

We took all our family here for a treat just last week. Thoroughly enjoyable few days in a warm and welcoming hotel Friendly and helpful staff and dining room experience was excellent with good wholesome food served on hot /warm plates. Good choice at breakfast too . Only problem was my bill was overcharged quite a lot but was very quickly resolved but didnt get an explanation why it was overcharged. Always check your account before paying!!!!

We attended the Hogmanay celebration and were completely delighted. The meal was superb and the organisation of it faultless. The disco was excellent, with a good variety of music to dance to from the 60s onwards (not just the modern "boom boom" rave music!). A great night out, average age 50-ish, I'd say, smart casual dress, plenty to drink but not a single drunk! We'll be next in 2019! They do not have rooms to stay over in for this particular event.

Noisey after 12am people banging , could feel the springs in mattress. Had breakfast room service and was cold. Phoned best western and was not given a refund. I will not be staying here again. nice area and staff nice.

My mother in law booked here for a family of 6 adults and 5 kids to celebrate her 60th Birthday. All we can say is it's a birthday that she will not forget for all the wrong reasons. Now where do I start? It was an hour and 10 minutes till the kids were served their meals and then about another 20 minutes till the adult meals arrived. At which point the kids were finished their main meals. The menu was uninspiring and food wasn't the best. We questioned to staff how much longer the meals were going to take and he said its just getting cooked now. After the main meal it took ages to clear away the plates and longer to bring the menus back for dessert.We had to call staff over to take our order but due to their cheeky response we told them to get us the bill as we now didn't want dessert and had had enough. Discussion help with management regarding the bill and finally after being laughed at were given a small amount off the bill which in no way compensated for the disaster the night turned out. We ended up at mc Donald's for our dessert. Will never be back!

I have recently had a over night stay with two friends. We booked a room that would accommodate all three of us, so we would all get a bed. On arrival there was a king bed and what can be described as a ‘put me up' with a exceptionally thin mattress, not really suitable for a adult, as we were there for one night we decided just to get on with it and went to the bar for a drink. On returning to the room it was freezing, we called reception, they arrived promptly and turned on the heater(we had no access as it was behind a panel) this still didn't heat the room(it was a large room) we ended up going to reception and being given their heater. No complaints at all about the staff, they were all very helpful. But for £150 for the night we expected more, at least a heated room. I mentioned these issues on departure and was just told they would ‘check the wording on the booking site' with regards to the third bed, not what I would expect for this price.

I stayed at this lovely hotel with for two days with a couple of friends. Although it is rated at just 3 stars, it felt better than that and set excellent standards in all areas - I was very impressed. We had dinner one evening which was really good and served by friendly staff. Breakfast was a decent hot and coal buffet supplemented by freshly prepared items such as fried or poached eggs and salmon. The rooms were clean, well equipped and comfortable; my only criticism was that the soap dispenser in the shower was mounted far too high (my dear old mum would not have been able to reach it!) and there was no soap dispenser accessible if you chose to have a bath. There is a gym and pool, but we did not use them. The place does specialise in weddings and conferences, and so if you want a quiet stay it might be useful to check before booking. Despite all the hype from booking agents/web sites giving you the best price, we found going direct to the hotel produced the best rates. This hotel is very highly recommended and I would have no hesitation staying again.

This was our first visit to the Woodlands in about 15 years. I was immediately encouraged when walking through the impressive reception area and modern bar area and so you can imagine my surprise when I thought we'd been transported back in time Tardis like to a different era when reaching the restaurant. Sadly the decor and furnishings belonged to a bygone age. Dull. And so what about the food? The soup of the day should have been more accurately described as ‘tin of the day'. A BLT sandwich - the worst I've had. Fish and chips - standard fare from the lengthy menu full of the usual ubiquitous frozen delights. Any positives? The staff were very friendly. It'll likely be another 15 years before we return.

Loved this hotel and this is the second time we have used it and will be making a point of going back again. Kind and courteous staff and nothing was a problem for them. Breakfast and dinner was fabulous with quick service so we would rate this 5*

good room, good size, gym is well equipped, at weekend it can get busy as there are a lot of weddings held on site, so the bar can get packed, restaurant prices are average but so is the food. Good parking on site

We booked an overnight dinner bed and breakfast stay at this lovely hotel and was well impressed. The hotel and bedroom were large, clean and comfortable. Dinner was really nice as was breakfast. We used the spa facilities and again had no complaints, pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi all in working order and clean. Broughty Ferry was really nice and hotel is situated in a residential area just a 25 minute walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants.

We had a good time at the hotel the food was lovely and the staff were amazing. Our original room had a few issues with noise and the windows but we we're moved to another. Just unfortunately the new room had boiler noise on and off all night and was above the kitchen so the room smelled like food. On departure we were given a partial refund for the issues and provided with a card for our next stay so we could contact In advance and make sure we got a quieter room :-)

I and my beautiful wife decided to have our wedding there after several recommendations from family and friends. I would like to thank Nikki the general manager, Peter,Jenny and all the rest of the staff from reception, bar and cleaners you really were wonderful and made our wedding day and the preparation very smooth and accommodating. We now look forward to coming along to taste your beautiful food for lunches, tea's etc. I hope you will show this to senior management team within the group. Best Western maybe a huge company but Nikki and her team keep things so personal. Thanks again keep up the good work, hope to see you soon.

Have been delivering minibus driver training in Dundee off and on for over a year. I found the Best Western Woodlands Hotel for my first trip and have now returned around 12 times... indeed I'm back next week! It's a good hotel, with ample free parking. It's comfortable, clean and has friendly staff. On site leisure club and restaurant means it's easy to relax after work... and there's a great choice of food. Thoroughly recommend staying here.

Excellent hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, accommodation comfortable and clean and this time used the pool which was also very nice. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner over the weekend which were all excellent

The hotel itself is in a really good location on the outskirts of Dundee with plenty of nice restaurants close by. Due to its location in a residential area the hotel seemed quiet, even with functions on. All staff were friendly and the hotel itself was nice. The pool area is small but clean and breakfast limited but nice. The room however was very disappointing this was due to the smell in our room at ALL times which put a real dampener on our experience at the hotel. We were allocated a room directly above the kitchen. I feel that cleaning staff and hotel staff must be aware that the kitchen smells travel up to these rooms however still continue to put people in them. I would strongly advice that these rooms are looked at and ventilation installed to remove the constant fried food smell that lingers in the room. We tried to open the window but it did nothing. Also in the room several lights were not working and the TV remote control, these are simple things which should be checked prior to guests staying at the hotel. I would struggle to recommend it to friends / family based on our experience with the room. This was a shame as we were really looking forward to our stay.

Firstly I would like to say how dissatisfied with the reception staff and there policy's at the hotel. On checking in to the hotel the credit card given was not returned then after 5 days the card was cut up after a conversation with the manager that I would be calling back 10 days later to collect the card The room given was extremely hot the bed was up against a radiator and the window did not open to cool down the room The noise was extremely horrendous with people drinking and smoking outside the front of the hotel until 3am ! The staff had a awful passive aggressive attitude and were not welcoming including the reception manager and staff Best western uk declined to comment on hotel policy's as this was a franchise hotel I very much doubt I could recommend this hotel due to the abundance of events that party until the morning hours Not a good nights rest and no customer care

I was on the first floor overlooking a quiet courtyard for two nights. Even though there was a wedding party on the first night, I barely heard anything. Restaurant was convenient and well staffed. Unfortunately, they didn't have any lamb dishes. The hotel desk staff made a great recommendation for a local restaurant that had a great lamb shank.

This fully equipped hotel with spa, which we did not use, gave us a very pleasant three night stay. As our first visit to Dundee, the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful on places to visit. The V&A Design Museum was the crowning glory of our visit, being just a 10 to 15 minute drive away,

Stayed with 2 kids, great hotel, fab pool, lovely staff everywhere - restaurant, reception, and in the pool. We had the Wylde room - huge and luxurious, kids loved it. We will definitely be back. thank you

Had a lovely overnight stay at hotel with my 5 year old son.. staff were very nice and helpful.. had a lovely swim and meal in the evening. Food was lovely can't fault anything enjoyed our stay. Would recommend and book again

Visited with teenage children staying couple of days. Facilities were okay and pool good. Breakfast was buffet and you could also order which was good. Had a room in new Wing and one in older part of hotel. Anyway older room had a tiny bathroom which smelled. Various signs of discoloured silicone. Room was above the apparent designated smoking area and had to close window despite room being very warm. Double bed was also very small. Staff were overall really nice although on checking out my wife advised that the reception staff member was quite dismissive when she challenged being charged twice for breakfast. We were thereafter refunded. Would I stay again? Probably not..

A lovely hotel very well appointed and lovely staff. The facility were very good and restaurant busy. Our room was quite small at the top of the hotel with no lift (we were made aware of this once booked.) No problems with it except it was extremely hot.
