The hotel is in a great location - I could walk to Publix or any of the other stores in the Paradise Key Shopping Center. Crossing the 4-way to the Destin Commons was iffy though. The employees were all very nice and courteous. I expected it to be a little crazy over there with all the other people staying the night after the Fourth of July event, but as far as I could tell it was quiet. The double queen room I got was great. I had no issues with the room. Bedding was nice and fluffy. I think I watched the 2003 Hulk movie on the TV. The dining area was a little packed during breakfast, but the food was great and there was a good number of options available. The pool has posted hours, but it seems like they don't really enforce them. I don't know if I just missed it, but I wish they had placed a pool rake/skimmer near the pool. I went in the morning and there were multiple dead/dying bugs in the water. The parking lot had only a couple of spots shaded by trees, so keep that in mind if you go during the summer and can't manage the heat. Also, I don't know if they have employees that manage the parking lot, but people kind of trashed it when I stayed.
The reviews were absolutely correct about this hotel. Yes stay here. Large suite rooms although the bathroom is a little small. It's a quiet hotel and very nice staff starting with Kasheena. She was very kind! The breakfast was standard continental bkfst but really clean and well maintained. Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Destin
Our 1st trip to Destin Fla & 1st experience in Best Western Hotel. Absolutely BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE OVERALL ! Clean rooms, facilities and breakfast services. We've never experienced customer service like we did @ Best Western Sugar Sands
The hotel has a outdoor heated pool and hot tub that my son loved. It was mostly in the shade. It was close to Henerson State Park. It had a beautiful beach and nice little trail to walk. There is a Starbucks and publix that is a short walk.
Centrally located in the Destin Commons, the hotel is off the very busy Emerald Coast Parkway and so easy to get into and out of. Destin Commons is a large outdoor center with stores, restaurants and a Panera and Starbucks as well. Breakfast is very good. I normally stay at the Inn on Destin Harbor (a Choice Ascend hotel) but it is on the far western end of the peninsula and so a long drive to anywhere (especially the outlet mall) other than the Harbor Walk, which I think is overpriced. I decided to try this hotel because of its central location since I have Diamond Status with both BW and Choice. I was so impressed I will now be staying at this BW in future visits to Destin, which is at least twice a year.
This was a quiet & clean hotel! Check in & out was very quick. Room was clean. Bed was a little soft but that wouldn't detour me. The most important thing was cleanliness. I would definitely return. This place could be easy to drive past as we did. It sits off the road & you wind back to it. There is a Panera & Starbucks very close & within walking distance through a parking lot, among other businesses. Great location!
Great people, bad quality. Bathroom in need of repair, roaches in the room. TV not working. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. What should have been hot was barely warm. Even the coffee was tepid. Orange juice tasted bad.
While it wasn't particularly a luxurious stay, and the door handle to our bathroom was broken clean off before we arrived, and one of the two beds was super creaky, the price we paid and the amenities we received (not to mention the cleanliness of the property in general!) were just what we were looking for. It was affordable, close to Henderson Beach State Park (highly recommend!) and that über basic coffee place. And most importantly, our room was clean. The bathroom in our room was clean. The counters and fridge in the room were clean. It was nice and refreshingly clean. (You ever check into a hotel late at night and worry about setting your things down? Worry if they even washed the linens? We didn't here. It was seriously clean.) Also if you stay here, order Merlin's pizza! The BBQ chicken pizza is amazing. We also appreciated the cooktop and the fridge/freezer to cook and store our eggs and other food and also refreeze our ice packs for our coolers. And the bed and pillows here were comfortable and clean and the perfect affordable ending to a day in salt and sand.
Our experience here was wonderful! When you have to think of things to criticize, there was not much. Pricing was competitive with free parking, free internet, free coffee. Breakfast was average with usual eggs, sausage, cereals, yogurt, waffle irons. No bacon or variety from day-to-day, but overall, well done. Fantastic location for us. We were a few minutes from Destin Beach, Henderson State Park was a mile or so, as was Wal-mart, so very convenient! Not walking distance, but we planned to drive. Our room was spacious (king suite) and nice view of a golf course and heated pool. Everything was clean, AC was great, and overall during our stay, quiet too. Okay, the elevator is a little slow. Staff were pleasant and helpful when asked questions. Would stay here again!
We stayed one night at Best Western Sugar Sands inn & Suites. The hotel is about one mile from Henderson Beach State Park and Walmart. The room was nice. The pool was heated. The front desk officer was helpful. The outlets are about 10 minutes away. The parking is adequate. The breakfast was excellent.
The room I stayed in was in terrible condition. The top of the toilet had been broken and was glued back together. The shower curtain must have come out of the wall and was reattached in another place and the original hole was hardly patched. Furniture was scratched and showing much wear and tear. Lamp shades ripped. This room should be condemned!!!! Additionally, I was quoted one price and charged a higher price at check out. When I spoke with the manager he refused to honor the original rate. I was there for a family wedding over a holiday weekend so I was unable to make any changes and move to another hotel. This stay was an absolute disaster!!!!
Our stay was satisfactory. the only complaint I have is there were hairs on the bathroom floor and pubic hairs in the tub. So Grose!! I cleaned condos for years to help supplement my income in this area so i always check for cleanliness.
We really enjoyed this cozy hotel. The staff were very courteous and helpful. It was nice when I needed something whether early am or late pm I was met with a smile. The breakfast was hot & fresh. Good
Very clean hotel, nice suite with plenty of room. Amazing breakfast close to shopping and only a half mile walk to the beach. Highly recommend this as your next stay in Destin. Pool and hot tub are also nice when waves at beach are strong
This is only 2 red lights away form Henderson Beach Park and a Publix is in walking distance. Breakfast is a full spread with something for everyone. Rooms were clean. Will definitely stay here again.
This was my second stay at this hotel, and I enjoyed both of my stays. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, staff is friendly. Good basic continental breakfast, and in a safe location in Destin, close to the beach, and next to a nice shopping center. Will stay here again when in the area.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Convenient location. Shopping next door. Easy to get to the beach. We liked second floor location so we could use lobby staircase instead of elevator. Nice refrigerator and microwave.
Traveled with nana and door in between our rooms broke. Told staff, nothing was repaired. Toilet clogged from just pee and we were handed plunder and told to do it ourselves. Plus construction the whole time
This is the second time My family and have chosen to stay at Best Western Sugar Sands Inn & Suites. We like that the hotel is clean and the rates are affordable. The hotel is on the main strip with restaurants, shopping in walking distance if You like. Henderson Beach is about 10 minutes away.
This hotel is a mess, no lighting in the parking lot, very little parking, and construction materials in the lobby. They need to shut this hotel down and complete the upgrade work then reopen. Most of the staff was great but we did not get the room we requested and were told the whole 3rd floor was being shut down the day we arrived. This room was not worth the $161.00 we were charged for one because of the construction and two it's not even on the beach, I think we should be given a refund because the pictures online misrepresented what the room was.
The employees there were very kind and helpful, the room was clean and well stocked with towels and soap, the pool was clean, there were washer and dryers available, and the best part was waking up and eating their delicious breakfast!!! I also got a late checkout and was able to go back to my room and take a nap before leaving!!!
Anyone writing a review of this hotel saying it's clean and nice is a fake account. This place is absolutely filthy. They said it's "remodeled " Ummm woth ripped furniture and beds from a dumpster maybe. Sooooo gross.
Great hotel, clean, good price, delicious breakfast, good location only 3 minutes from the beach. My 3 kids, husband and I really enjoyed the week we stayed here. Highly recommend this place. They are nice and welcoming people at the reception.
We had to change rooms FOUR times during a 3 night stay! First room had a hole in the wall where the shower faucet should be, 2 & 3rd room had no air, 2nd room had an awful musky smell when we walked in, 3rd room toilet would not stop running as well, fourth room was fine except for tv issues - had to change input each time you turned back on, AND good luck getting a good breakfast! We waited in line for forever for a waffle but gave up each day. Also only had brown bananas each day. Where is the fresh Florida fruit people!
I enjoyed my stay at this location. It is conveniently located near by a whole foods, shopping and beaches. However , the beaches were a little bit of a walk. The hotel staff was courteous and professional. The rooms were excellent. The beds were so comfortable. the place is clean and neat. The breakfast needs healthier options, such as organic, veggies and freshly picked grafefruit and oranges and freshly sqeezed juices. After all, it is Florida and they're famous for citrus fruits.
The place is so great. The staff is always helpful and great too work with. It's close to everything. It's a short walk to the beach. The amenities are great. They are going through some upgrades but this should make it even better.
Very disappointed in the brand. Was not woth the money spent. Probably wouldn't stay again. Staff was good no issues with them at all it was the appearance of the rooms that was thd issues. The bathrooms didn't look clean although it was but it was just old. Water leaked from faucet, tub drained extremely slow, toilet flushed slow and the took a while for water to fill back up in tank. The first room we had to move from because the floor was wet from water leaking from the AC unit. There were water spots all over the floor.
Be prepared for a budget stay especially if you are going during the peak season. It is overpriced for the quality. Sheets were dirty. They did not change the duvets and If they did it was a stained duvet with blood. I'll never stay at that location again. I came for a family vacation and wanted nothing more than to go back home to my bed. The hotel smelled like pee. The carpet looked horrendous. I bought socks to make a barrier between the floor and my feet. It was humid. Again never happier to have a short stay and be going home.
The BW website does not disclose the construction at this location. Very deceptive and frankly unprofessional for a well known chain to dupe customers. More importantly, even without the construction, this hotel is awful. My expectation of a BW hotel is like, average. This location is well below average. Hotel prices in Destin are outrageous but I urge you to avoid this particular hotel at any price. We payed $279 a night. Shocker. It's not on a beach, there's no restaurant on premises - it's a Best Western for gosh sakes. When we arrived, there were 4 kids in the lobby without supervision doing whatever they wanted. Mayhem. There's no rules here. The Mom, who we encountered later in the hallway in front of our room playing beats on her phone at level 10, was not interested in reigning in the crew. That family left like 12 dirty towels in front of our door that stayed there for 12 hours. The Mom hung out in the hallway and you are required to say "excuse me" just to get around her and enter the room. This happened twice. The hotel sits near a helicopter pad that transports tourists all day long, every day to do touristy things. The choppers fly directly over this hotel at all times. The first time this happened, (5 minutes after arrival), the copter was so low I thought there was a tragic crash event in progress. I ducked. I became desensitized hours later when I realized the awful, noisy reality: This will not go away. The pool is disgusting. It's filled with building materials that fall from the building expansion/construction at the hotel. Nobody cleans it or is concerned about it. The staff is not interested in helping. "We can't help you, you booked through Orbitz, you should call them." We did call Orbitz, and miraculously they let us leave this prison and returned 2 of our 3 booked nights. Props to Orbitz. My advice: Book another hotel. Pay whatever you need to pay to NOT experience this awful hotel. (Oh, by the way, the breakfast was horrible).
Hotel is just dirty! Hotel yard can use a good makeover along with the entire hotel! Definitely was not worth my money for the 2 rooms I reserved! The smell on both rooms was bad! They told me they was smoke free! The entire hotel need a good upgrade asap! The staff was the best hands down for them but the owner or CEO needs to pay attention to this facility. Definitely not coming back
We will not stay at this hotel again. It was under going construction & there were small styrofoam pieces all over everywhere outside & were in the pool while we were swimming. They got in my daughters hair & was very hard to get out. We told the front desk about it & they didn't do anything about it & didn't seem to care about our complaint. When we first arrived, the hotel entrance had a horrible odor to it. At that moment I instantly regretted booking a reservation there. This was only reinforced when we walked into our room and the room had a funky stagnant odor to it. The toilet in our room either didn't flush or ran all the time so I had to fix it. Looking inside I found that some of the parts were being held together by a BREAD TIE. The bathroom door did not shut all the way. None of the issues besides the styrofoam were reported because the front desk seemed to not care about the complaint about the pool condition. So why report anything else. The 2 good things about this hotel is that they allowed us to check in early & they had a good breakfast with a friendly attendant to help serve breakfast.
This hotel is adequate. We were not aware of all of the construction they were doing on the hotel exterior and we woke up to find a man on a genie lift right outside of our window first thing in the morning! Very un-nerving. We enjoyed the pool but the water was actually too warm and not refreshing plus all of the construction materials lying all around were ugly trip hazards. To be considered suites & Inns - our room was a very standard hotel room with 2 beds - nothing to make it a suite at all - even though the photos on the site looked like little suite units with kitchenettes.
Well pleased with recent stay here....note: there is exterior remodeling going on Very pleasant front desk staff that will greet you immediately upon arrival....breakfast had a variety of foods - all very good - and several beverages. Rooms were very comfortable and rather roomy. AC worked well. Rooms were very clean. Pool was open though I did not get a change to use it due to timing of events elsewhere. Very convenient location for us - with a Publix grocery store right around the corner and several good restaurants in short walking distance which we did use.
I had trouble finding some place to park at 3pm due to the parking lot being full of lumber and construction equipment. There was alot of dust and noise. My room was large and very spacious. There was plenty of hot water and great water pressure. No view from the window as it was covered in plastic due to the construction work below. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The coffee maker in my room did not work. Outdoor pool did not appear to be open due to construction. Ice and vending were available on all floors. Breakfast was not good at all. Coffee urns were empty both mornings that I was there. Not worth the money.
This was a great surprise and at a great value. Not only is the location central to shops and restaurants and beaches it is also going through construction for expansion and The upgrades to the rooms are nice. Breakfast was great with many different options even though there is a sign in the lobby that says continental breakfast it is not. They have hot cold do-it-yourself waffles and yogurts and yogurts and more.
We only stayed here one night on our trip through the gulf states and had no major issues. Our room was large, including a living room area and comfortable bed. We were nor far from what we wanted to do, but it was at least 5 miles and too far to walk. Breakfast was typical of Best Westerns and we did have a noisy bathroom fan. They are putting an addition on this hotel so parking is affected.
If you can, don't stay here. Upon arrival to the hotel my family and I noticed the holes and broken brick around the windows (every window) in the front of the hotel. The breakfast was absolutely horrible I ate the breakfast 1 out of the 5 days during my stay. The food is stale and very limited in choices you're better off ordering out (which we did). Hotel price ridiculous for the quality, and staff wasn't very helpful other than the woman who checked us in. She upgraded our room to allow us to check in earlier.
Good room for solo (like me) or couple. Roomy, with BR, a little LR or study, and bath. Suite was clean if just a bit banged up. LR was what you entered on coming in, and BR was what you looked out the back window at. LR, thus, a little dark w/o the light on. (Arrangement was reversed in next BW suite I stayed in: 1st, BR, then LR.)
We just checked into this hotel and I am MORTIFIED. There is no way any of the 5 star reviews are legitimate. This place is scary and disgusting. It's falling apart, the carpet looks like a crime scene, the pullout sofa is at least 40 years old… I could go on. It's not even worth $50 a night, I am ashamed I paid more. IGNORE the good reviews!!!!!
I stayed at this hotel in April, and had a good experience, so I also booked a four-day reservation in November, due to the hotel's great location, clean rooms and friendly staff. The hotel was not offering housekeeping in April, but since I was only there for two nights it wasn't an issue. I assumed that seven months later there would be some type of room housekeeping, but I was wrong. If I wanted towels or anything else typically refreshed by housekeeping, I had to go to the front desk to ask for it. I called the hotel two days before our November check-in because I had booked my reservation in June and wanted to be sure they had a room for me since I had an evening arrival. The person I talked to in Destin said that I would be staying in a suite since prices had changed since I booked. The suites I had seen during the first visit had a living room and separate bedroom, so I was looking forward to my stay. However, when I got my room assignment, it was not at all what I expected. Instead of the usual suite, they had given me a "suite" with two very small separate bedrooms. I asked to be moved to a real suite, but since they were all booked, I stayed in a regular double queen. The rest of our stay was uneventful. I probably would not stay there again, but the staff tried to be accommodating. Breakfast was a selection of hot items like waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs, and other choices, which were included in the room rate. However, I probably would not stay there again.
The location was great, close to shopping, hotels and attractions. Staff was friendly and professional. Room was clean and had super comfy beds. Breakfast selection was great. Good selection of hot and cold foods. Would definitely stay again.
the motel is under a lot of renovations at this time of year so there for things aren't what they usually are, but in this case they are doing very well. the staff here is always very attentive and helpful in all ways.
The hotel staff was friendly and the room we stayed in was clean. We had a little trouble finding the entrance to the hotel parking area as our GPS was trying to direct us to the entrance that was closed for construction. But after about the third trip around the roundabout we finally figured out where the other entrance was. Other than an unexpected wake up call by the hotel room's alarm clock going off at midnight (which I am sure was set by a previous tenant), we had a pretty restful, comfortable sleep. Breakfast was fine. Would have liked to have had eggs to go with the sausage, and biscuits and gravy, but otherwise good.
We always enjoy our stay when we come. The staff is always very nice and courteous. That really makes a difference. This is the only hotel that we prefer.Everything is within driving distance.Very convenient. You will not be disappointed
We booked a Queen suite through the Best Western website that had a separate living room area. When we arrived they gave us the wrong room. When we inquired they said that the pictures on the website did not match and they didn't know how to fix it but if we paid $20 they could put us in the room we reserved. We agree just to get checked in. The room was awful. 3 lights did not work, one lamp had bulbs being held into the sockets by a tied plastic Walmart bag, the windows were so dirty we could not see out of them, the lock on the bathroom door was broken and the beds were very uncomfortable. We reported the light issues to the front desk and were told that the maintenance man was 89 years old. That he sometimes did unacceptable repairs like the plastic bag that was used to anchor the light bulbs. We told them that while we would turn it on whoever the next guest was might and it was a hazard. The room was just old, uncomfortable and in need of many repairs. Would stay elsewhere next time.
The staff at check in to check out were very nice and helpful. The hotel is located near restaurants and shops, plus not far from the beaches at all. Breakfast was good with eggs, bacon, sausage and assorted breakfast products. The only minor issue we had was with a leaky shower head but that was about it.
in walking distance to so many shops and food, also the grocery store ! this is the second year i have stayed here and absolutely love the location . starbucks right in front of the hotel. walk to the beach and watch the sunrise. Long walk on the beach and back to the hotel and dip in the Jacuzzi . fresh towels always at the pool ( pool not heated ). good selection for breakfast , and lots of items in snack machines for those midnight cravings :)
First room smelled like mold when walked in, there was broken toilet, broken glass in wall picture, substances on the wall, missing smoke detector, overall kind of dirty. Second room was better, nothing broken, but still outdated and dirty. Oddly there was a shell casing from a gun in the stairwell…pool seemed nice though we didn't try it. Location is great, staff was kind of friendly.
Hotel looks nothing like the pictures online! Feels very dirty and has a weird smell!! We had to buy febreze just to make it smell better! Hotel staff was very nice and friendly. We will definitely not stay here again!
Room was drab and undecorated. A small piece of wood with nails was balanced to on another piece of wood that was on a piece of plexiglass help “hold the sink”. The rolling chair was broken. Ball of hair found inside the sheets. Definitely not worth $400. But all places in destin are expensive. Only positive is location, the lobby was nice, and the staff seemed friendly
Nothing special. Front desk was kind and helpful. One cleaning lady that was helping cleaning the breakfast area was very rude and treated my elderly mother very bad. She snapped at her because she opened the breakfast area door. She was going to ask for some paper bowls and was treated very badly. Rooms are old and need repairs. They are only as clean as a dirty old room can get. this hotel needs to be remodeled and updated.
I will start off by saying the staff was very friendly! The second night we were at the hotel. I found old fast food bags of food under my bed. Along with a to go box of chicken wings. I took it all up to the front desk and they handle the situation very professionally. The biggest issue we had at this hotel was the pool and hot tub wheelchair lift didn't work at all! It's the law for hotels to provide this and it work! The excuses we heard were unbelievable! They tried charging the batteries after they supposedly had sat for 5 year not being used. Or maybe they could never get the charger to work. Or maybe it's because it's never had any schedule maintenance on it. Because the pool guy was nice, but clueless on how the batteries worked. So my boyfriend who is in a wheelchair was not able to get in the pool or the hot tub the entire trip! The staff did apologize about the situation and gave us a discount. But I would of rather had the chair lifts work! Again it's the LAW for all hotels to have working chair lifts! I don't believe the roll in shower is up to code either. My boyfriend is paralyzed from the belly button down couldn't even take a shower without me helping him. He couldn't reach the shower head. The shower floor was slippery (not because it was wet) so I had to hold his legs. If it was a tile floor and not a bath tub fitter we probably wouldn't of had issues.. That's all folks!
First night had extreme noise (shouting and toddler screaming) from 10 pm to 3 am. Called front desk two different hours but no pickup. Complained at 7 am in person. Alex at desk defended their 24/7 service and asked if we used house phone. He made it our fault that nothing was done and said he saw no reason for a room change. Manager had a different view and we were given a new room. Good rooms, beds, good self-serve continental + breakfast. Plenty of parking which is unusual for resort area.
I found this location to be very clean and close to everything but tucked away from large crowds and noise. It is within walking distance to the beach (won't need car) and you may also walk to Publix, Panera, Starbucks and many other nice places. The staff was attentive and professional and Brittany was very helpful on the phone and in person. She knew the local area and made several key recommendations for places in the area. THANK YOU!!!!
This is a great location, not on the beach but easy access to the beaches is close. The place was clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable but the lighting is not great and the shower doesn't have a lot of pressure. I would stay here again
the over all hotel was very nice. i will have to say because we were near a military base we heard jets over head a lot. Rooms were up to BW standard. Grab and go breakfast sucks but what can you do it is that way at most of them.
The 2 female desk clerks were superb. But if you you expect the night clerk to keep coffee in lobby or put out breakfast selections on time, forget it. He was arrogant and lazy. He is the reason for the Service rating of 4 stars. Enjoyed the special lighting in the heated outdoor swimming pool and hot tub.
The staff was great but the room wasn'T that clean and it stunk. Also the pool and the hot tub wasn't clean. The hot tub had weird stuff floating in it. The pool had leaves in it and wasn't clean. Thanks
Stayed Here Columbus Day weekend 2020. Area still under COVID-19 guidelines. No breakfast worth a dog. Everything in room worked. Room came with fridge, microwave, HD TV plus almost unlimited cable, free wifi. Well worth the price I paid. I would def stayed here again, in fact I plan to recommend this hotel to my extended family for a reunion I am planning Summer 2021.
Our Girls Weekend to Gulf Shores with 14 friends was cancelled due to Hurricane Sally. We were able to book Best Western Sugar Sands quickly, efficiently and at a reasonable price to still enjoy our getaway weekend. During these COVID times, the hotel was clean, staff was helpful and we felt safe the whole time.
I never leave bad reviews, but I was very disappointed in this hotel. The hotel staff were friendly enough. It is located in a great convenient area. The rooms were not updated, as they say. Our room door even had a big enough crack you could see in the hall. The lighting was very poor in the room. Also, the walls were thin, you could hear neighbors talking. You could tell it was an older hotel. One of my main complaints, the WEED smell every night! It's no way the staff could not smell it. We were knocked down, one night, as soon as the front door opened, as we were coming in. At first, we thought it was the staff, who knows. Also, I know it was outside, but we saw a mouse at the pool. He was running back and forth like he lived there.
Alot of retail and food options nearby and maybe a 5-minute drive to Henderson beach Park or 6-7 min drive to free beach access areas. Hotel is clean and safe and the staff is friendly, with clean rooms. Breakfast was limited due to covid, but a light enough snack to maybe hold you to lunch
We travel to Destin once a year, and generally spend 2-3 nights. Stayed here for the first time on our most recent trip, and it is in an excellent location, with easy access to the highway and all the shops/restaurants. Publix and Starbucks are right next door, and a beach shop is just across the street. The beds were very comfortable, but would have liked thicker blankets or comforters. Front desk workers were friendly and cheerful, and let us know of Covid policies (no daily room cleaning during the stay and breakfast is just grab and go), but assured us if we needed anything at all to just ask. Cleaning staff was readily available, though, to provide additional soap, towels, etc as needed. Gave 4 stars because the shower/tub is very narrow with poor water pressure, and there was an odd smell in the room, which we determined was coming from the A/C unit. Overall, we would stay here again and would recommend to others.
I have not been to Destin in years. But my friend was visiting me in Nola and wanted to revisit Destin since he worked there last year. I met Justice on the phone.after looking for reservations online. She helped with my registration . She helped me sign up for the best price and assured me she would be on duty when I checked in the next day. ..She went above n beyond explaining everything from how to find the hotel n proximity to beaches n shopping. . I plan to return to that location in September after labor day .The room was nice n clean. The Social distance was practiced . They still include breakfast but made it grab n go which was really nice. Beach was 5 min away with public access. .Good job Justice .
This was the third year we have stayed at this hotel when vacationing in Destin. The past two years was awesome! Unfortunately, this year we were a little disappointed. Not sure what has changed but they had not kept up the hotel as we've seen in the past. The lobby was nice looking as always, but it went down from there. Due to the weather, we used the pool and hot tub several times, various times of the day, we never saw anyone maintaining the area. The pool and hot tub had leaves, grass and pine needles floating. The water was clear though, not cloudy or discolored. There was grass growing in alot of the bricks and up the fencing. Wasps nest were along the roof line of the hotel. They were far away from the pool but noticable. It is a nice pool area, just needs some TLC. The rooms were ok but they also needed some TLC. Beds are comfy but need some updated comforters. You could not use the chair in our room because one of the legs had been broken off, so we used it to hold our luggage. The shower curtain was horribly stained and was barely hanging on. I did report this to the front desk and the maintenance man immediately brought a new one up, replaced it and said he would report it to housekeeping. Due to the Coronavirus, there was no daily housekeeping, which we totally understood. You did see housekeeping throughout the hotel, so they would assist with more towels, trash liners, toilet paper, etc. The front desk was always most helpful as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would highly reccomend a remodel/update soon!
My fiancé and I stayed here for a week and it was fantastic. The room was clean and every time we needed something we got it right away. You always could see the staff consistently working hard. The pool was relaxing and clean. We couldn't have gotten a better location. It was down the street from the beach and in the middle of all of the restaurants and shopping you could want. Everyone at the front desk was great but Kelly and Steven at the front desk was exceptional. They was always so helpful and just genuinely kind people. Thank you so much for the amazing experience! Will book again
This is a nice hotel conveniently located near the East end of the "Destin Strip". The room was a typically Best-Western size, style and furnishings; and came with the standard BW Breakfast fare. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. we inquired about a good BBQ place and they recommended one that was just a couple miles further up the strip, and it turned out to be exactly what we were hoping to experience.
Stayed at Best Western Sugar Sands Inn & Suites on last nite before leaving Destin. Clean, comfortable, and close to eating establishments. Chose this accommodation because of short commute to airport.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights last weekend. The bed was comfortable, room was clean, but the best part was the customer service from the front desk. Brittany and Steven were exceptional! The Jacuzzi was so relaxing after a really long day. I also LOVED that they offer lifts for disabled patrons by BOTH the swimming pool AND the Jacuzzi, so that they are able to use the facilities too. Way to go Best Western Sugar Sands!
This was my second time here and both time were great. The staff was pleasant and the rooms were clean and spacious. Would have loved them to add scramble eggs to the breakfast buffet, but otherwise it was a great experience.
I was placed in the wing behind the front desk and the outer door did not lock. I complained and was changed to the 3rd floor. The carpet is very old and dirty. The shower had black dust all around the top. The walls are very thin and you can hear the traffic, people talking in the hall and the neighbors flushing. This is a basic 2 star at best hotel.
Exceptional !!! Staff is very hospitale and accommodating. The Executive Suite with 2 double beds, sofa bed in livingroom, and eating area , was a great size for my family, as I have a brother whose in a wheelchair. Breakfast is a very goood selection. Location is great in the middle of shops, close to State Parks - Henderson Beach, Topsail Hill Preserve, etc.
Very nice property. Close to a lot of amenities such as restaurants, etc. Service was very good. Complimentary breakfast was not too appetizing, unlike our Memphis experience, so went to First Watch next door
Over past month have stayed in at least 10 BW Inns. The reason is price and cleanliness. In all cases the rooms are very clean, the staff go out of their way to greet you and provide assistance if needed. At this BW there was a washer/dryer and an affordable price and ths usual breakfast. Staff were friendly as in most cases and the rooms are imprecably clean. Alway feel good staying at BW
Excellent trip overall. Everything was wonderful. The hotel, the weather, the holiday traffic. I will definitely be returning again this summer. I have been staying at this hotel since Spring break 2015 and I have yet to be disappointed.
I booked this last minute & they were very friendly & accommodating. The room was clean & well-decorated and the free breakfast was served until 10:30am (much later than most other places.) Location was great! Plenty of restaurants around. Would book again.
The staff at check-in was curtious. The room was clean & spacious. The breakfast was very good as well. If I come back to Destin I will stay again. This was my first time visiting Florida coming from Louisiana.
We had two uninvited kitchen guests visit our room and this was not expected given the overall appearance of the property. Surely could be a random event but still they need to be diligent on matters such as this.
We stopped in Destin for one night. The staff was very nice and the room was very clean. We had a good little breakfast before we left this morning(sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffles, bagels, cereal, toast, boiled eggs, yogurt, juices, coffee, etc.)
Check in was fast, they were ready for me. Room was clean, and the breakfast was "real" food, not your "typical' pressed eggs, and mystery meat. Its location was perfect right off the bridge when you come into town, and right on the main road, and 5 minutes from everything. The pool area was clean, like new. Grocery store, Liqure Store, and beaches all 5 minutes away.
While I love the hotel brand because of clean rooms and a nice breakfast, I was dismayed to see a $1.00 charge for them to check out my credit card. I have stayed several times before and never had this happen. If they need to check out my credit, that should have been on them.
Excellent staff. Very clean. Comfortable beds. A hot breakfast is included in the tariff which in particular included a fresh fruit salad, waffles, omelette, sausage and a selection of cereals. We are hoping to stay at another Best Western in Wakulla.
Staying here currently. Very good value for the money spent. Excellent staff. Sandra at front desk was very helpful. Rooms clean and breakfast was excellent. Would stay again if 8n destin. Was here for a business trip.
We had an issue that Steven helped resolve for us he went out of his way in above and beyond and made our trip absolutely wonderful we will not forget it and we will we will definitely be back Thank you Steven The Lollis Family
Great, caring staff helped us resolve an early issue. Very clean rooms. The beds were very comfortable which is, of course, fantastic. They serve a nice hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal and more. Free high speed wi-fi. We have already booked our next stay!
Enjoyed my one night stay at this super convenient location. Close to entertainment(bowling right across the street). Restaurants within walking distance, Starbucks, Panera, Longhorns and shopping nearby.
Great value. Location couldn't have been better. Small water leak in our room was handled professionally, promptly and without question we were offered a new room. Hotel rooms themselves could use an update but they were comfortable and VERY CLEAN --- We had the cleanest hotel feet ever!!!!
Breakfast was great. Our first room the a/c was leaking water on the floor the second room smelled of smoke and mold and the a/c and dehumidifier was very loud. They gave us another room for the leaking a/c. Our room was supposed to be a king room they gave us a queen and told us they didn't have any kings available. I can get over that but the smell was horrible.
This Hotel was at an excellent location because several eating establishments were very close by, like Millers Ale House and Lu Lu's. Plus, since we had to visit the ER, it was close by too. The beaches were close by too.
The hotel looks great from the outside but it is a very old hotel that has been remodeled. The hotel was designed and built with windows that open to provide fresh air. The windows have all been permanently sealed. But the ventilation system was not remodeled to ensure fresh air to the building. It smells like every bad smell for the past 50 years is still stuck in the rooms, and there is no way to get it out. To make it worse, the room was also very humid. They had a portable dehumidifier in the HVAC closet but it was broken. The room bothered my allergies and made some of my family feel bad. Even after coming home and washing our clothes they still had the awful hotel smell in them. When I told the front desk staff about it they said they had to permanently close the windows because of "smokers and suicide" and were not a bit concerned. If it weren't so late at night I would have switched to a different hotel. On the positive side, at least they did not try to mask the awful odors by air fresheners, as many people are allergic to those. Apart from the one worker, the rest of the staff was great and friendly. Breakfast was great, along with a cheerful worker who also cooks the food well. If the hotel would address fix the terrible indoor air quality problem (without air fresheners) it would be a great hotel and we would go back.
Nice clean hotel with basic breakfast to keep you until lunch, clean pool and hot tub, less than 5 min drive from Henderson Park Beach. Many retail and food choices are less than 5 minutes away and good prices compared to the typical insane Destin hotel rates.
This was a very nice hotel and the staff was very pleasant. Everyone that we came into contact with did everything to ensure that we were satisfied. The hotel is so close to shopping, eateries and entertainment establishments. Would definitely stay here again.
I am a very picky hotel guest, but I just have to say this hotel should have 5 stars across the board. The breakfast was fabulous all 6 nights we stayed, the hotel room was immaculate. The pool and hot tub were spotless and very clean and relaxing. The staff were amazing. I highly recommend this hotel even though it's not beachfront its top notch.
Overpriced for what you get, breakfast below average. Quality of food not very good. Staff very helpful, and courteous. Room was musty. Carpet in room needs to be removed and replaced or another material other than carpet used
We stayed for 4 nights.Great location, great price, and great staff. The hotel is clean and well kept. I needed a handicapped room and when I called, the tried really hard to accommodate me. If in that area again we would stay there. Thanks.
there are approximately 11-22 of us that come to Destin every year. The majority of us stay in a hotel the day before we check into our house. The staff at Sugar Sands offered to hold our large suit cases and ice chests until we were able to check in at 4pm. The rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were soooo comfy. We experienced awesome Guest Service from all of the staff that we encountered during our stay. EXCEPTIONAL GUEST SERVICE.
I was only in town for a day and my schedule was busy. If I had been staying longer I don't think I would have enjoyed it more based on the dated decor. The bathroom was awesome but I couldn't get my bed in there. The fact that we had a broken coffeepot- no lid covering the boiling water chamber, was disturbing. I expect housekeeping to check that.as getting burned is a real safety issue. I rated service as avergae simply because we did not get a notification as promised- about an item left behind. I know renovations are coming down the line, and I will try it again then. The Best Western brand is absolutely solid.
Stayed 2 days in this hotel. Very good for family stay .my kid and spouse liked this hotel.overall very good , pleasant experience . Also very near to beaches public access area and variety of food choices around .
Convenient to Harbor Walk and other area activities. Even though it's tourist destination it is quiet and nice. Great staff and facility. Enjoyed breakfast and other ammenities in the hotel. Will be returning.
My family and I was in Destin over the Labor day weekend. We need a hotel for our last night in Destin. I choose his location because I stayed in at a Best Western in a different state and loved it. Also, read that the hotel was close to shopping and the beach was across the street. There was lots of construction and it was not advisable to walk to the beach due to this and the fact that it was about a 30 minute walk to beach. We arrived very late and the hotel had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Of course , he prices were higher due to the holiday weekend, but it was similarly priced with other hotels with my particular discount that were nicer. Overall, it was a decent stay for just one night.
This facility is well staffed and very clean. The staff is very accommodating and professional. The facility is conveniently located for dining choices and shopping needs. The location is also convenient for the local event areas for the kids as well as the beach. This Best Western is an A+++ establishment with a great staff.
We booked our stay here Because of free breakfast and no resort fees. We stayed in room 104. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly and helpful with local information on things to do and places to eat. The room Beds are comfortable and love the pillows. Lots of tv channels. Use the remote in the drawer and not the one on the tv stand. It works much better. There is a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Water pressure in the shower is not the best and it took forever for the water to get hot. We killed a few bugs in the bathroom. Rooms are quiet and the AC works perfect. The hot tub and pool was awesome. Breakfast was pretty good. Eggs, sausage and bacon. Fruit and pastries. Waffles and cereal. The hotel is located right close to shopping and lots of places to eat.
We had towels and amenities the first night. After that we had to go to the desk and ask for towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. None of that was provided. After two days of complaining the staff lefts towels on the corner of the sink, never even hung them up on the racks. Wer were there four nights and not until that very last day we had everything. When they made up the beds every day the bed pillows were randomly thrown on the bed. For instance one bed had two pillows on one side and one on the other. Same for the other bed. As for the food it was the traditional continental breakfast but every day they were out of certain foods and the staff just said it was never shipped. We would never stay there again.
The hotel is of average quality. Hotels are expensive in Destin so I would like to say I would expect better for the price but not so in comparison to high priced lodging in the area. The location of this hotel is good in regards to activities and shopping. Henderson Beach is close but you definitely have to drive to it since the area is not pedestrian friendly. The hotel breakfast was not good. Even waffles that are common were a cheap mix. The breakfast area was very small for capacity. We gave up trying to eat in there. I don't bring my own shampoo due to flying restrictions so I need to use the offered amenities. Every day (out seven) I had to go to the desk to ask for shampoo, conditioner, and soap since it was never restocked in my room. The entire seven days, our sheets were never changed. I don't mind every three days or so but at this price i expected better. The hotel says it has been updated but I don't see that in the actual rooms. Our key card stopped working on three occasions and had to be rekeyed. We don't have it near our phone or anything to demagnetize. The pool was cloudy everyday but hopefully that's because it was kept chlorinated. It was rather small and backs up to small trees then a golf course. But, it was ok for our first stay in the area but we will try a different hotel next time.
Great location, badly in need of updating!! Carpets worn soiled& odiferous. Breakfast area entirely too small for a hotel of this size...lines of people waiting for a waffle...bacon on 1 day only. Pool towels never available, had to go to front desk for bath towels. Staff friendly, reported broken towel rack, but wasn't repaired. Kids had fun at Big Kahuna water park, hotel pool and beautiful beach. Overall hotel is ok. Just please clean it!
This place was a good value. The only thing was the location which was a bit hidden to find. The pool water was not the cleanest and looked murky despite there being only a few people in the pool at the time. That being said i spent more time at the beach than at the pool. The location is close to beaches, restaurants and shopping!
It was a very clean hotel, everything was nice all the staff were great and made sure that you had anything you needed. All the shops were close by just a 3-5min drive and the beach was across the st mayb a 3/4min drive
Annual family vacation landed us in Destin this year. I guess from the name I assumed this hotel was on the beach (Sugar Sands Inn), its not, but the location was good afterall. Was met by a very friendly front desk staff at check-in, went smoothly and fast. Rooms were nice, clean. Housekeeping staff nice, breakfast staff friendly. Breakfast area can get congested, I suggest going early or late. Variety of food items available, waffles, oatmeal, eggs, bacon etc. Pool area clean, towels at the door on the way outside. Rooms cool, comfortable, but the refrig doesn't get cool enough to keep more than water. Overall a nice average stay, but who goes on vacation to stay in the room anyway?
Cannot understand why this place is rated as high as it is.Carpets need a good cleaning.Made a reservation 3 months ahead.Asked and promised first floor even promised the night before. The location is good.Breakfast was better than most places.Employes were nice and helpful. The A C was in good working order.
Price was fair 1. Fridge doesnt even get cold, ruined our food. 2. Pool area doesnt have towels 3. Trashes everywhere on the floor (ppl just toss'm outside of the can, and staff dont clean up) 4. Rooms got very strong humid stuffy odor 5. A bit small bfst area, no room to sit in there morning, 6. Trash can by the coffee stinks soo bad 7. Bed sheets were quiet old i believe. Suppose to he white but u can see its been used years. Changed color n didnt feel comfortable to sleep in it. 8. Last but least make sure bring everything even ur paper towels bcz they didnt have anything in that room.
We recently visited Destin and stayed at this best western. The hotel was clean, nice, and quiet. They had a very nice breakfast included every morning, which was different everyday. Christine is one of the girls that takes care of the breakfast area. She was so nice, hard working, and very helpful. She understands the meaning of costumer service, and she is an asset to that hotel.
I had seen this hotel many time when visiting a nearby restaurant and alway thought that it looked th be in an attractive location. It is not on the beach but just a short drive down to Henderson Beach and well located for all the activities in Destin. On arrival, the front desk were welcoming and the housekeeping seemed to be in good order. Pool and Hot Tub are at the back of the hotel overlooking the Golf Course so it is reasonably quiet and shady. Breakfast was nice with a good, well stocked variety of options.
They gave away our rooms that were booked 3 months in advance. We were forced to downsize for the first night until they were able to fix the error by moving our room, upon gathering my belongings I left behind a nice watch, a charger, & a pair of shoes, well everything made its way to lost & found except watch and they were all left on nightstand. When I went to front desk the clerk acted as if she did a personal background check herself of the employees stating that "no one here would withhold merchandise" Talk about lack of integrity geesh those people had zero and should highly reevaluated. I WOULD NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO STAY THERE!!! EVER
Really great and affordable hotel. Loved our suite. Breakfast was yum and hotel looks nice. Convenient to everything in destin. Wish they had king beds though. That's the only critique i have from my recent stay.
Stayed here two nights, we had a corner room which was nice, it was a suite so we had a window in the bedroom and a window in the living room. Worked out great because my husband stayed up to watch TV in the living room and I went to bed without being disturbed. Not far from the Destin beach, we had no trouble finding parking. Breakfast was good. I-98 was being worked on so the traffic was horrible (not the hotel's fault) but we managed to get around. For some reason the bed didn't like my back, it didn't bother my husband.
We normally do not sleep well in hotel beds but these were very comfy and the breakfast was really good. Staff was also very nice. Definitely keeping this one in mine for future use. It was near a lot of shopping and eating places and a couples blocks away were several beach access points.
Friend and myself her for vacation. 2nd day her came back from our days activities and housekeeping had not cleaned our room and they left for the day. The desk clerk was nice enough to empty our trash and provide us with clean towels. The next day I reminded them that we had not gotten housekeeping and to please make sure we got it that day. Got back that afternoon and they had done bare minimum. Floors not vacuumed counter tops not cleaned and tub not cleaned.
predictably clean, average breakfast, great location, friendly staff. This hotel is in the heart of Destin resort area. It is not on the beach but real close. It is right next to a Publix and other great shopping and restaurants. I've stayed here several times because it fits my needs really well at a great price.
Stayed here for a weekend trip. The room was very clean. The breakfast wasn't as good as I thought it should have been for a place that was over $200 a night. But the waffles were good. Fantastic location with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Which was a plus when you don't feel like driving everywhere. It was a quiet hotel with nice air conditioning. I would stay at this hotel again, but not for the price we paid,
On the up side, even though our room was near the pool and the laundry it was quiet and easy to get to. The pool is no-frills but was clean. The room was clean although the carpet felt a like it could use a good cleaning. Beds were fine. Housekeeping kept the beds nice. Each room needs a wastebasket rather than only having one. At 10am we were unable to get a hot shower, and the breakfast buffet ran out of bacon. There was a large cable outage in the area so we lost WiFi and tv. Not their fault but telling me they were “monitoring it” wasn't super helpful. Heck my kid was “monitoring it” as we were in the room for the evening due to rain. The “game room” listed in their room info is basically non-existent - chairs stacked up, only one game and the door locked. Front desk lady at check in was super sweet. Not a BAD stay but we will look elsewhere next trip.
This is a great place to stay. It's located in a very central location, close to everything. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and they have a hot breakfast that exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this hotel
Pulled into Destin about 7 pm and found this hotel on internet .Got a great price from the desk and thought we Would bed down for the night then move on 4 nights later we checked out Fantastic location to beach ,restaurants and shopping . Staff was great rooms were nice and breakfast was delicious .very nice area .woukd definitely recommend .
Clean and nice rooms. Close to everything. Good Breakfast. Easy access to busy roads with a nearby stoplight and roundabout. Friendly staff. Shopping and restaurants close. Could walk to beach. Beautiful Destin/Miramar Beach area.
The rooms are horrible , very dated and felt dirty . If I could have just been able to cancel my room I would have !! It's not a place to stay when you are doing a short trip , romantic and any of the above !
From the front desk clerk Steven who helped so often to make our stay wonderful. He went out of his way to help us with all our concerns. Heather the week end night clerk suggested a hidden gem of a restaurant (Tuscany Bistro). Food was over the top delicious. The breakfast area was well stocked and Christine did an awesome job. Food was very good and many choices. Waffles and a Yogurt machine, cereal rolls and always changing hot menu.
I stay damn near exclusively at Best Western This property is simply the best one I've ever stayed with. It was simply impeccable at all levels. This property should be the example not only to Best Western group, butto all mid range hotels.
Really appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the only hotel on our trip that had Queen Deluxe style room with Jack & Jill bathroom. Beds were very comfortable & the rooms were quiet throughout the night. Steven was very friendly and accommodating.
Side doors broken and location was not secure. No privacy curtains on the first floor so people are able to see into the room. Cheap beds room cleanliness below average. Rotten fruit at breakfast. Would strongly suggest staying at another hotel. Location is great but a waist of money. Spend a little more and get a hotel light years better.
This place is very wonderful, it's located right in the middle of everything, the front desk service was amazing and let us check in a couple hours earlier than normal check in time. The breakfast was average, it saves you money, you can't complain. The heated pool was great, I enjoyed that the cleaning service came everyday, overall you'll love your stay here. We will be back.
Location – excellent for dining out & shopping Hotel – well maintained 3 story hotel Room – clean but items need attention Internet – very good – 40 mbps down, 15 mbps up Breakfast - could be hotter if people would put the lids down hot food just warm !! small area for size of hotels – often over crowded ! serving area needs to be larger ---------------------------------------- Suggested Improvements for Room 220... room lighting inadequate for reading shower water pressure not good light in mirror not working for me closet door jams room thermostat not accurate out approx. 5 degrees F
We liked the area.....many restaurants and stores, both grocery and clothing. Can actually walk across the street. The parking at the hotel is great. Walk right in and get checked in quickly. We were on 2nd story so could walk up or take the elevator. The room we had was a 2 bedroom suite.....2 televisions. The rooms are dark because of the carpeting. Overall, the place was nice as was the price.
Brilliant hotel within walking distance of the beach. Staff were superb, huge comfy beds, long hot shower and good sleep. Good value on a USA road trip. Would recommend and would return. Beach superstore across the road for beach supplies.
great location and super clean place to stay. Also good heating as we had a little cold snap during our stay. we were alarmed to find that the door on our room had been bolted open for the day after the maid had left the room - fortunately no harm done. we would have liked to have opened a window in our room during our stay
We stayed for 2 nights only, it was a very pleasant place to stay. Friendly staff and very clean. We had breakfast which was Awesome. The staff was Amazing. They made sure we had everything we needed. I am a travel agent and they did a magnificent Job with serving My Family.
Steven and Brittany at the front desk went above and beyond to meet our needs! My favorite BW front desk helpto date! I didn't see them when we left so I want to say, THANK YOU BOTH! Keep up the good work!
Quick overnight stay for my family and I on Thanksgiving We wanted to be near the shopping area. This hotel used to be a country inn years ago. Check in fast no issues. Checkout quick no issues. Breakfast is free the am,but was not tasty things were burnt or cooked to long. Room was clean no issues No parking issues Location perfect ! Located in strip mall area, then across the street from Destin Commons and only 5 miles from Silver Sand Outlet Mall. Beach is on the opposite side of the hotel. Overall good stay would visit again.
The service was awesome! We went as part of an internship and there we met wonderful people, thanks for the excellent service Heather, Alex, Sarah, Kyle, they were so nice, always trying their best to accommodate us, or even just chat in the middle of the night. The breakfast was so good! The beds were comfy, nice location too, the Destin Commons is just across the street and we had a Publix just around the corner, couldn't ask for a better place to stay.
What you would expect in cost and amenities from a three star hotel. But the location is great and the people were exceptionally nice. Really good morning breakfast and very pleasant woman running it. Pool area did not get full sun and I have never seen anyone use a fitness room.
Thank you MIKE L. And CHRISTINE M. For the excellent friendly service. They greeted us whenever we saw them throughout the hotel and if we needed anything they helped us get it. BRITTNEY did a great job as well and made our stay very comfortable when we changed from our original room to our new room. The outdoor pool was warm and allowed us to use it while the weather wasn't warm out. The jacuzzi was a nice size and we enjoyed using that as well. Our children really enjoyed the game room which had a large connect four game. You can also get board games from the front desk. The breakfast was delicious. Ms Christine also helped me make my waffles so thanks again for going above for the guests. The hotel was clean and smelled good. Thank you three for the five star customer service. When we get back to Destin we will stay here.
The breakfast we had was so awesome and the service was awesome. They so delightful. The associates are so delightful to be around and it is a job they love it was a pleasure staying at your best western
We started every morning with an amazing breakfast prepared by Christine M. and was greeted by Steven at the desk. I have never felt compelled to write a review until my stay here in Destin. What an amazing staff! Christine M made the best breakfast especially the bacon. Christine M. you're the best! Steven ...thank you for the "good mornings"!
I was deployed to Panama City during the Hurricane response and arrived 24 hours after the storm hit. Our command found this hotel for us to stay at each night, which still had power. The drive to and from the hotel was 1.5 hours after our 14 hour shift, but all I can say is thank God! The staff here was great and this place provided us just what we needed! A comfortable bed, power to ensure A/C, a nice hot shower, and a safe quiet place to get 4 hours of sleep each night. This place provided a hot breakfast at 0630, however we were gone (5 AM) long before it opened each morning. This place also has a bar and a nice pool. The only thing lacking, was a safe in each room which would have been nice. I am so grateful we had this "oasis" during our long, hard deployment.
This hotel is located in a great location. It is close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The customer service was good. The free breakfast was less than ok and the breakfast area was not very clean.
You will not be disappointed with BW Sugar Sands. It is well located to the beaches, restaurants, and shopping! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very well updated. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. The breakfast is bountiful and well presented. My wife and I have stayed here 3 times in the last 2 years and have never been disappointed.
The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was good. The hotel is located .5 mile away from the beach and is gorgeous. The hot tub was amazing! We like the complimentary breakfast and love the waffles!
I travel to Destin twice a week for work. Check ins are always warm, welcoming and extremely easy. The property is always well kept and inviting. I always use the swimming pool and hot tube to relax after a long day. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is hot and delicious.
The hotel is in a good location to the beach and all things Destin. The room was in pretty good shape and seemed clean, until I discovered two different towels and the shower with long brown hair. Definitely a turn off.
Birthday trip with family great location kids enjoyed the pool.. shopping close by beach was 5 min away everything in the area good restaurants n shopping hotel was clean n comfortable breakfast was ok
Very clean hotel, Great Staff, and great Free Breakfast!! We will definitely come back to Destin and stay here!! Loved how they had the wide variety of breakfast items. It was also within walking distance of a grocery store, Starbucks, and some other shopping!!!!
Good location...... Great location for my needs ... Checked in early prior to my meetings, and the staff was able to accommodate with a different room than I had reserved (which I was fine with) Staff was incredibly kind throughout my stay. Rooms are fine. My only complaint would be the main bathroom light iis on the same switch as the fan (which is incredibly loud) There was a dim light around the mirror, however when getting ready wouldn't be bright enough Pool area nice place to retreat to Overall, would stay again for a night or two
I came down to visit with my mother this past weekend n the stay was great. The first night was horrrible because we were in an adjoining room with a family with a loud baby who woke up at 6 am on vacation. After letting the front desk know, heather, made everything right and moved our room so we can get some rest. After a long day in the city we decided to get some wine n relax by in the hot tub. Steven, after hearing about our early morning wake up call, made sure our relaxation time wasn't rushed n he also had a wine opener for us, winning lol. These two made our trip extra special after it could have been ruined since the whole reason we came was to relax away from crying babies.
Hello I recently stayed here after moving away over 20 yrs. My 1st night was bad thks to the ppl next door kids getting up soooo early, I did tell the front desk but the manager wasn't in yet. When i did make it back to my room later that evening Heather and Steven was on duty. i told her my complaint by the time I made it to my room she came right up n ask if I wanted to switch rooms, I jumped at it. Felt so much better went out got a bottle of wine to relax the rest of the night by getting in the hot tub and my new friend Steven help us with that with a lil extra time. They really help me enjoy my trip more THKS guys S.W
had to move rooms because shower rod was broken, in the new room it was barely hanging on as well. most staff was friendly but one housekeeper woke us up at 8:30am to ask if we need towels but never bothered to return to make beds and vacuum. she was kind of rude, foreign lady. the breakfast was good, the hotel room was kind of dingy. it was an ok place but next time I will probably choose a different place to stay.
Queen suite really nice and offers a bit more privacy than a double queen, especially with kids around! Lol. Good complimentary breakfast each morning, save us on a meal a day. Friendly and courteous staff, especially Heather and Brittany. They really helped us out when we were in a bind with a bad situation at our previous place of stay. Kudos to them.
This hotel is conveniently located to area attractions. Our room was clean and comfortable. Steven was very helpful in answering our questions about things to do in Destin and giving us his recommendations for area restaurants. We enjoyed our lunch at EverKrisp so much that we went there two days in a row. Steven's picks for dinner at The Back Porch and Pompano Joe's were spot on. Thank you Steven.
We stayed in a queen suite. Perfect for families (2 rooms divided by the bathroom). Nice full free breakfast. Steven and Brittany behind the counter were very helpful and super nice. Will stay there the next time in Destin.
Overall, the hotel was pretty decent. Easy access to area attractions, nice pool area. Only complaint would be that the room ac wouldn't go below 68. And when it is 90 outside with 90% humidity, the room always had a muggy feeling. I say this is disappointing because other people's rooms in our group we're much colder and less dank. Oh well, didn't spend much time in the room anyway since we were in Destin for a family wedding. I think I just got a room with a mediocre AC unit. Would reccomend this hotel, decently priced and close to alot of the destin sights and attractions.
After arriving at a competitor to check into our room at 11:00 pm with my 3 children only to find out they had overbooked and cancelled our room, We arrived at Best Western and Kyle was very helpful and accommodating to our family. Thank you for turning our trip around. Scale of 1-10 he gets a 20
I stayed here while on vacation and everything was wonderful. Heather at the front desk went above and beyond to help me and my family with anything we needed. The whole time we was here the staff was great and accommodated us with anything we needed.
Heather & Brittany were amazing during our checkout. There was a guy that checked us in and he was very quick and friendly . I had a great time and really enjoyed the hotel and the location! Destin Commons vert near, in walking distance!
I stayed here on vacation with my my son and by far this has been the best place we have ever stayed. Heather at the front desk was awesome and always had a smile on her face. The staff was friendly definitely worth a visit.
Took a pack of teenage boys to the beach. The Hotel was clean. The rooms were modern and comfortable. The layout gave me ( the only adult) my own room and some peace. The staff was very helpful. Heather was particularly friendly and helpful with some above and beyond service.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!! Steven and Brittany were the most friendly and helpful staff ever. This hotel is beautiful and up-to-date. The rooms were so nice and clean. Comfy beds. The pool is great, as well as the hot tub. The hot breakfast is delicious and lots of variety. Close to everything! Walking distance to several places.
great hot tub, nice and hot, this is very important to me . Great coffee in the lobby, Steve and Brittany were very nice and did a great job. I work for a Best Western and they gave top customer service.
I called this hotel several times and ask a few questions before I booked because of my schedule. I was afraid that I wasn't going to have a room in time, long story short I was able to book a room and cancel if I needed. That made me felt a lot more secured. I have to say the front desk was very help and super nice, he answered all my questions and helped me through my dilemma. The price was very reasonable, hotel was nice, complementary breakfast (very good) staff was great, location is perfect (shopping, food, beach, etc.) I would definitely recommend this place!! Thanks again Steven for making my stay pleasant.
Pretty nice hotel and only a short drive to Henderson Park Beach. The staff was very friendly, the rooms and facility was very clean, Breakfast was basic, but good enough to hold you off for a few hours. Not far from Destin Board Walk, probably 15 mins to San Destin area, and many food places near by. Publix Grocery store is very close if you want more food outside of breakfast and is open from 7-11. Would definitely recommend
We stayed here two weekends in a row and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff, specifically Brittany and Steven were very helpful and nice. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good, the two women setting up breakfast were quick and helpful! Another plus for us were the spacious bathrooms in both of the rooms we used. Having 4 girls, that was a must.
Nothing bad to say great six days in it, just more bacon days for breakfast, only advice, great staff really good area great restaurants ,lots shopping and short relaxing walk to the Beach, clean pool and whirlpool
I wanted to stay near the beach on my work trip for two nights. The hotel is located in a decent place if you are looking for shopping and food. I thought, based on other reviews that I would be able to access the beach easily. Here is what I got for about $50 less than a beach hotel: nice looking hotel in the middle of shops and restaurants. Seemed close to the beach but the traffic is horrible and to drive to the beach can be a nightmare during the summer because of the traffic. Walking to the beach is difficult because most of the beach is private so there is no quick way to get there. It was a very busy hotel packed with kids. The staff is very nice. This hotel design is like a country inn and suites so I wouldn't be surprised that it used to be one. There is a staircase in the front to the second floor, fireplace and just laid out like an old country inn and suites hotel. I couldn't enjoy the pool because there were so many kids in it. There are no benches outside the front of the hotel and no adult gathering place. It is bare bones. If you want to enjoy being outside but the pool is full of kids, your only option is to leave or sit on a curb in the parking lot. There are no balconies. So basically no outside space for adults to relax. You can walk to Publix or shopping and there is a good dinner pub in walking distance. Now to the rooms. Clean, functional, good for a family as one room has two beds and a separate bedroom with door. Two TVs and one shared bathroom. If I came for a vacation and needed two beds separated by a door then it might work- if I was willing to drive to the beach. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. So many families here and they look like they are having a great time- I'm assuming they don't have a pool at their home so this provides great entertainment. Lots of noise above me at night. The horrible air conditioning fan was loud but needed to drown out the noise of the kids in this hotel. In summary- this was the least expensive hotel in the area and I bit off on it. (Still almost $200 a night in June) if I had known I would have paid the $230 or $250 for another hotel with a little more to offer. I was disappointed that it markets itself as a beach access hotel when you really have to drive and the traffic is horrible in this area. Also, they could, at the least, have seating out front for adult smokers or just people wanting to sit outside and not be by a pool full of children. No decent outdoor seating or areas away from families. But clean rooms, beds for a family, nice staff and convenient for eating and shopping. I'll let you decide if this works for you. Next time I would pay the extra for hotel with a little more amenities.. or maybe just a seating area outside or balcony.. just expected more for almost $200 a night.
My husband and teenage son stayed here for three nights on a quick mini vacation. I searched online for a while before we found a place that suited our budget AND that had good reviews! This hotel met our expectations and went beyond them. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. They let me borrow a beach chair to take along to the beach which was great! Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good and had friendly staff working it also. It is about a 5 minute drive to the public beach (I recommend going to Henderson State Park and paying $6 for the day...so worth it!). We would stay here again if we ever came back to Destin!
We were in Destin this weekend for a wedding and our original hotel lost our reservation!! Best western stepped up and the amazing Steven at the front desk got us checked in well before normal check in hours so that we could get ready for the wedding. They really went above and beyond and I truly appreciate Steven for how sweet he was to us.
My fiancee and i came to Destin to get married and booked hotel rooms for our parents at best western sands. Steven was our contact at this location and was a pleasure to deal with. He took the time to get our parents rooms taken care of and was readily available whenever i called to confirm anything. Great customer service, greatly appreciated! Steven deserves a great recommendation and is the reason i will call this location again.
The staff, especially Heather, was very accommodating and nice. The room was clean and updated. The daily maid service was top notch and very professional. This will be my #1 pick for my next stay in Destin!
Steven was absolutely amazing we made several calls to him and made several changes and he was able to help us each and every time. We were greeted by him as well when we arrived to check my parents in and he walked us through everything quickly and efficiently. He explained everything very well and offered to help in anyway during our stay. With having older parents we were able to get them on the lower level with close easy access to the front doors and the breakfast area. I wouid highly recommend this location. Very clean and centrally located as well..
This is the only hotel I'll book at for my work trips, because of the location, cleanliness, and most importantly the staff. This trip, Heather at the front desk was extremely accommodating to a request I needed, while simultaneously tending to other customers on the phone, and very courteous the whole time! She'll be the reason I continue to book only here. All staff are great, every room I've ever gotten has always been meticulously cleaned, and just comfort all around.
Omg! They are the best front desk clerks ever! Very nice and polite... fast check in ! Steven and Heather make me feel at home ever time ! When I say You never have to wait long at all and they always answer all my questions about the area!..
I really enjoyed my stay here! That staff was excellent, the room was very nice! The free breakfast was great! They offer such a great variety of food including waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs, juices, cereals and sweet rolls! I would definitely come back here! Thanks Best Western!!
Waikiki Beach has nothing on Destin...other than consistent surfable waves. That said, we were well taken care of at BW Sugar Sands. Jonathan was amazing, from towels, to restaurants, to ordering pizza, which he paid for and delivered to our room. Of course we paid him for the pizza but we expected him to call us when it arrived. He even ordered the pizza for us and got us a discount. What an amazing employee! The rest of the staff was great too. When we come back we will be staying here again unless we buy a home.
This is about my fourth time staying at this particular hotel, my friends and family love it and this has become one of our favorite hotels to stay at. I've had Heather help me several times she is simply amazing, very friendly and excellent customer service skills. She made our stay very pleasant. Most of the time I've been there my room has been ready before check in. Everything has alway went smoothly and I would definitely highly recommend this hotel and I will be coming back soon.
She helped with beach chairs and umbrella and directions. Steven fixed my phone helped w/taxi to airport. John gave us map and directions. They were ALL so nice and courteous. I thank all three for their help!! Nancy Novotny
The good the hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The bad we traveled 14 hours so of course we took movies for our 3 young kids to watch. As we were packing up the car for our travel home we realized our movies were no longer in our hotel room. I went to the desk and yold them our 9 movies which i could state everyone to them one which being the brand new black panther marvel movie had been taken from our room and the only people that had access to my room was the cleaning staff. I asked if they had cameras he stated no then said he could reimburse me for the movies then when i said ok he said well i will have my general manager call u in a couple hours. I said so he will take care of the cost of the movies he said yes. So i headed towards home 4 hours later i called back and was informed oh he is busy and it would b best for me to call him monday between 7 and 3. Im very dissappointed we went on vacation took a lot of time doing reaserch on finding a safe clean respectable hotel. Well i giess if u stay here keep u valuables locked in ur trunk not in ur hotel room. My advise DONT STAY HERE. I will see if they actually refund me for the stollen merchandise or if i continue getting the run around.
Everyone was very nice and friendly....the pool was very warm and comfy....breakfast was nice and hot...... We wanted to stay longer ....... My kids had a great time in the pool didn't want to get out when it was closing time lol
My husband and I stayed here for a few nights while on a road trip up the Panhandle of Florida. Although the hotel isn't located on the beach, it was very convenient regarding being able to walk to a variety of shops, restaurants, a grocery store and just a couple of blocks from beach access. Being able to walk was important to us, once we realized how congested Destin has become, with road construction and traffic congestion everywhere. Our room was quiet, adequately appointed, with comfortable beds and the service at the hotel was great! We made our reservations while on the road with Sarah, who made our check-in flawless. The entire staff was quite nice and helpful during our entire stay.
This was a Family Vacation Celebrating Birthdays. The front desk Gentlemen were so friendly and helpful, *see Jonathan and Steven, they are very knowledgeable and kind! The Hotel was very clean, and the free breakfast was delicious!!! I'm looking forward to my next stay at Best Western Sugar Sands in Destin!!!
Very clean facility with nice decor. Check in and check out only took a minute. I asked for a quiet room away from ice machines and vending and was accommodated. The best part was we needed to check in before 4 and was they were able to get us in by 12 which really helped us out.
Jon was very helpful on giving us directions and explaining hotel amenities. The rooms were extremely clean. The pool is heated and very comfortable. The hotel is across the street from Henderson Beach State Park and right next to a shopping center. Couldn't be better located.
Heather went above and beyond for us. We were offered beach chairs to take to the beach with us. One day we needed towels and Heather bought them up to our room. All the staff made sure our stay was great. We will be back.
My fiancé and I wanted a small beach getaway and chose Destin. We stayed two nights at the Best Western and I must say I'm impressed. Great location, convenient to the market, etc. Very friendly staff and reasonable price. I definitely will visiting again.
This is a nice hotel. A little outdated. The beds were comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to others. The front desk clerk was very friendly upon check in. The clerk was very nice upon check out as well.
We came as a big group for Burning up the Beaches! We've stayed here several years and have had great service. Heather at the front desk is very helpful. We ask for a good place to eat and she gave us cards for free oysters at the Original Oyster House and John there was great! We had a great time and will be back next year!
We booked 2 rooms through Expedia one for my husband and I and the other with 2 queen beds for our daughters and we had a wonderful experience. Friendly staff and very accommodating. The place has a good vibe when you walk in it's very clean and inviting. The rooms are spotless and the amenities are all very clean and functional. I wish we would have booked this room first because we were only in the area for 2 days while my husband did some work at the air force base and the first night we stayed at a different hotel which was absolutely awful so we checked out early and found this best western hotel which we were extremely pleased with. Wish we could have stayed longer but, I know where to go next time we're in town. We will definitely be back.
My sister and I went for a little get away and to see a concert across the road at Club LA. We loved how everything was within a walkings distance really. Panera Bread was right across from us, and Starbucks . The room as Soo. As we walked in smelled nice, plenty of towels etc in the bathroom and the beds and pillows we're amazing .I know exactly where I'm staying at my next Destin trip!
We booked this hotel through Travelocity. We selected suite. The pictures showed a living area however it was actually not the room we booked. I went down to the front desk and I was able to upgrade to the room that was in the pictures. Steven at the front desk was super nice. The hotel was clean, and the breakfast was awesome. The location was unbelievable; shopping mall, movie theater, bowling alley right across the street. We were within 1 mile of the beach, Walmart, and I think within 2miles of the Outlet Mall.
The hotel is located centrally in town, while it isn't on the beach, it is close to anything you could possibly want to do--eat, go shopping, to a movie, or to the beach. Had a nice clean look and presentable rooms. Breakfast was good and had a nice variety of choices.
It was just fine. Would have liked a better location, walking to restaurants was not possible and traffic was heavy at times but I understood that when I booked the rooms. The hotel had a slight musty smell, not enough to be bothersome, maybe that's just the way are area is.
My stay was great. Excellent place to stay. Room was clean and staff was friendly. This was a near the place I was doing business and will stay here again when I'm in the area. I will recommend it to other people.
We were taking my son and some friends for our spring break. We needed 2 adjacent rooms in a sold out hotel. Stephen went above and beyond to call us at home the day of our travels to let us know he got our rooms together. I had spoken with him earlier in the week, and he assured me he would call the day of and make every effort to get us together. He worked his magic and made it happen. The location of this hotel is excellent. I is only about 3 blocks off of the beach. There are public access points if you go across Matthew Drive and turn left. However, there is only 8-10 parking spaces at each entrance. Our preference was to go to Henderson Beach State Park. It is $6 but there was always plenty of parking and there are restrooms. As a bonus, it is so peaceful- lots of room to spread out unlike in front of the high rise condos. Also next to the hotel is a Publix you can walk too for all of your needs. Across the street is Destin Commons which is full of shopping and eateries. The hotel provides free breakfast and it was quite good. We stayed in a queen suite that had 2 bedrooms. The back bedroom was very quiet and overlooked the pool and a golf course. The front room is a bit noisy though. You can hear through the walls and into the hallway. Overall, this was a great stay. The staff was very professional, accomodating, and friendly, and the location was perfect for us!
We didn't have any problems and hotel around everything you need from the beach, bank, store, stores and restaurants. We would be back... I will recommend this hotel. Price wasn't bad for 3 days as well.
We stayed here for a short weekend getaway after picking up our daughter from college. The room with the two queen beds in separate areas was a bonus! It gave our her own daughter space. The morning breakfast was also a addd bonus. I only have one downside, the hot tub was being utilized by kids. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great, near shopping and the beach. Would stay here again if we ever in Destin.
We stayed here during spring break. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, breakfast good, and the staff was excellent! No complaints! The pool area was very nice too. The location of the hotel was great and family friendly. We did have to drive 5 miles down the road to the boardwalk, but we were totally okay with that. We are glad we were away from all the hustle and bustle of families on spring break where all the condos are located. We would definitely stay here again. A couple things for travelers not familiar with the area....The hotel is located by tons of restaurants, a Publix, Old Navy, and other stores. Although you can walk, I would not due to how busy the area was. We chose to go to Henderson State Park to the beach. We had to pay $6 a day but totally worth it. It wasn't as busy, clean bathrooms, and a pavilion with picnic tables.
I recently visited Best Western for the first time and had an amazing time! Heather was such a help with every needed accommodation! I definitely will be coming back. Enjoyed the room size and tv's as well as the awesome breakfast! Maybe need to change the coffee for breakfast, but the rest was great!
So we got in late on a Thursday night and checked in. Alex was working at the front desk and got us checked in quickly. We had some special requests, one being a fan and some extra blankets. He went way above what was needed in providing us the items and just set the tone for a great trip. Overall, the entire staff was incredible at the front desk. As a Best Western rewards member we stay at a lot of BW's. This hotel has the best front desk staff I've of any we've stayed at in the US! We stayed a total of six nights and loved our stay. The hotel is located in the middle of everything you could need on a trip. There are restaurants close, a Publix and a Walgreens. There's a couple surf shops within walking distance also! Couple tips from our stay. The free breakfast is fine, but across from the hotel is a First Watch Cafe with some amazing breakfast food. If you're needing to do some business there's a very small 'business center' in the hotel lobby (open seating). Better to work from the room if you have to. Also, the housekeeping is on the slow side - the hotel was full when we stayed though. You'd be smart to notify them and the front desk when you're leaving to make sure your room is cleaned before 2pm.
Heather was amazing! She was so pleasant and worked so well with us to meet out accommodation needs. The hotel room was very clean. 10/10 would definitely stay again. After leaving one of the worst hotels ever, they were a BREATH OF FRESH AIR!
The room was very clean. Heather and Steven were super awesome, they got us checked in and set up fast, and they gave us great local knowledge about restaurants and activities. We'll definitely stay here again.
Thanks to a man named Steven my family and I were able to enjoy ourselves on Spring Break .. We had reservations at another location which was nothing like we expected. So we were stuck in Destin with no rooms. Called Best Western and Steven answered and mode our vacation. He had rooms with 15 minute notice and he came thru like a champ.Got y two rooms for three ningts and was very pleased.
First the good things. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bed and linens were fairly good. It was very noisy, we had a woman with several young children across the hall from us. The kids were screaming and the mother was yelling and swearing at them. It was so bad that we could hear it over our TV and the rather loud air conditioner. I should have complained in the evening but I assumed it would quiet down and it did some time after 11PM. Of course it started up again in the morning. The worst problem was when I was getting into the shower I noticed a very large roach on the shower curtain. My husband was out of the room so I called the front desk and the young man came and killed it. They did give us enough points for a free night at a best western but I would rather have just had my money back.
We booked this hotel because of it's location and proximity to shopping, restaurants, and conveniences. We also liked that it had been totally renovated 3 years ago, so it was an attractive lobby, room was clean, bathroom fixtures were updated, and beds were comfortable. Stephen at the front desk was very accommodating when we needed to modify our room type. Heather at the front desk was sweet, helpful, and professional. I called ahead before arriving to inform them we would be checking in late. When we got to the hotel and were greeted by Heather, she referred to me by name. I asked how she knew it was me and she said she recognized my voice. That's customer service!! She made us feel right at home. Thanks Heather!! She helped us pick a pizza place, and even provided us with plastic utensils for our chocolate cake :)
The location was great the whole staff were friendly and helpful very comfortable atmosphere love this place will book again the next time im in the destin area and every chance i get im gonna recommend it to anyone that asks
We were down for a quick weekend to attend a friend's wedding. So many places near her venue required a 3 night stay, etc or were vacation type condo rentals. I just needed a hotel. We were not going to rent a car since family in a nearby town was taking us from the airport to lunch and our hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and let us check out a little later on Sunday and let us leave our carry on luggage in their back room since we had a few hours before our flight and wanted to get some beach time in. Heather was very helpful and even called me at the airport concerned I had left something at the hotel and was willing to ship it to me. Thankfully we had not left anything there but I appreciated the diligence. The location is central to a lot in Destin. It was extremely easy to get an Uber anywhere (only issue is due to the close by round about every one of them had trouble finding the "route" to the hotel - though you could see it - more of a road engineer design -not the hotel's fault). We were in walking distance to a lot of shopping and food which was great! The room was clean and updated. The ONLY issue I'd say was the walls were a bit thin but there was door to the bedroom that seemed to help keep it quiet at night as well as my personal need for white noise (left the bathroom fan on).
Our stay was wonderful from start to finish. We had just spent a night in another hotel that we wont mention by name, but it rhymes with steep inn. What a remarkable difference. Szirah, Heather and Corinne were great! They went as far as making a batch of coffee for us and offering to bring it to our room when their complimentary batch of coffee ran out. Definitely a great hotel to stay at.
Heather was a blessing. She directed us to some good food. Didn't hesitate to get the number and find out the information we needed. Also was kind enough to provide us with paper plates and napkins. Would definitely recommend coming here. Rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. Will definitely come back again. Thank you.
The front desk crew were very nice & helpful. The room was clean & the beds were VERY comfortable. This BW is convenient to shopping, groceries, bars & restaurants. It is located just blocks from the beautiful Gulf Coast. And it is located a short distance from 2 golf courses. Parking is plentiful and very safe.
My family and I spent 5 sun filled days in Destin. Our hotel provided the most convenient and mist comfortable stay. We had easy access to the beaches as well as short walks to many restaurants and bars. The hotel staff was very gracious. Corinne and Stephen at the front desk greeted us with a smile as we left each day for the beach. Christine, the breakfast attendant did a great job with keeping up with the food. I even enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Both were kept very clean.
Fantastic visit! Steven was awesome very helpful and accommodating for our stay.clean rooms and great breakfast both Christine's were exceptional.will definitely be back for a future stay.thank you for all your hard work
Our family stayed at the Best Western Sugar Sands Inn and Suites in Destin. For the price and location, this was absolutely worth it. When our family arrived, Steven made sure to locate us in a handicap accessible room for our daughter who is in a wheelchair. The breakfasts were very good, especially the biscuits and gravy served on our last day. The location of the Best Western was close to shopping and the beach. The staff at the Best Western especially Steven and Heather were awesome. On our last day, both Steven and Heather helped us search out a hotel closer to home. Both Heather and Steven provided outstanding customer service at this location.
Great central location, walking distance to Publix, less than a mile from a lot of great shopping, very close to beach accesses. Check in and check out was very easy. Heather signed me up for the rewards program and made sure I got the best rate, which I really appreciate. Very easy parking, rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Compared to most hotels around it was an excellent value. Will definitely be my go to hotel from now on in Destin. Highly recommended.
This hotel is a very good place to stay they have pretty nice rooms in a fabulous hot tub and pool the breakfast probably be best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel they have a great staff members the one that stand out the most is Heather she will do anything to make you have a fantastic stay at Best Western I would highly recommend this hotel for business or vacation..
This is probably the best hotel I have stayed at heather was such a great staff member she was so nice and a great help great place to stay anytime you are in Destin I would recommend staying at this hotelq
My stay was great. The breakfast was amazing. Heather was very accomodating. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very clean. The room service was nice. The hot tub was relaxing.Everybody including Heather were very nice.
My sister and I stayed at this hotel for one night and we highly recommend. This was our first time to stay here and we will definitely return next year. The hotel is very clean and it has a good breakfast. I just cannot say enough about Steven the gentleman at the front desk. He was very helpful and friendly and he went out of his was to make sure we had everything we needed. We commend Steven and we thank him.
One of the best visits we've had! From check in to check out, everything went great and smooth! Breakfast was good, rooms are amazing and comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel special! I hope you are lucky enough to have Heather check you in! She's the absolute best! I witnessed her trouble shoot with other guests to make sure they had the best stay! We will be back next week and I'll definitely be staying here at Best Western! Oh and location was great too! Really enjoyed my visit and can't wait to be back!
Heather and Steve were outstanding and v helpful in all respects during our quick one night stay in Destin for a family memorial service. We really appreciated the free snacks given us by Heather out of her own private stock. Room beds were v comfy and welcoming! We will definitely be back!
Enjoyed the stay, Heather who checked us in was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable and made everything smooth and simple. Would definitely stay here again when in the area, the value for money was a definite bonus.
Great place to stay in Destin. Was greeted by Steven who was a great help in getting us information we needed during our stay, he was great! Wonderfully clean large room. I could find nothing wrong with it. Breakfast was very good with many hot items to satisfy. Would highly recommend!
Heather and the girl who served the breaksfast were exeptional in their work. Always with a smile, beautiful human beings. Everything were wonderful in our stay. Wish the breaksfast was open until 11.
started staying often in Oct 2017 - the kids love being able to swim (heated pool) in the winter - I didn't plan to come back as much but the winter/weekly rates make it hard to pass up. I worked in hotel management in the Florida pan handle for several years and I appreciate good service, clean rooms, and friendly staff. From Christine (breakfast room), Heather (& front desk crew), to Mike maintenance we are treated very well and enjoy coming back. Nice People, good rates, well kept property that I would recommend to any friend.
We stayed at this property in the last week of December 2017. We were a large group and we were given connected rooms that made it very convenient. The location is perfect and all of Destin's attractions are easily accessible. The staff was friendly. Considering it was the holiday season, it was a great value for money deal.
Very nice. The staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast was great. Could have used real eggs for their scrambled eggs but other then that it was a great breakfast. Hotel is off the main road which makes it a very quiet location so made sleeping very peaceful
Did not have a bad experience at all. Staff was pleasant and very cordial and helpful. Kyle at the desk was exceptional and helpful the breakfast was very good the rooms were warm and very clean would highly recommend the sugar sands hotel
Totally comprehensive and excellent stay. The check-in was quick and friendly. The payment procedures are ,modern and flexible. The use of amenities such as the laundry and vending provided several methods of pay that provided for cash shortages. Credit and debit cards were accepted exchange methods. The rooms was large and spacious which accommodated people of stature.
I purchased this stay on Groupon and was very pleased with the property! The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The room was comfortable and spacious. I would most definitely stay here again and highly recommend the hotel to anyone staying in the Destin area.
We loved staying here. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and coffee was always available. The location is close to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We hope to return and stay here again.
We have found Best Western Plus hotels to be the best use of our funds - excellent rooms, comfortable beds/pillows, hot water in the shower/baths, very nice breakfast items and presentation. Just an excellent value for your travel enjoinment.
My fiancé and I went on a last minute trip with my three (3) children; whose ages are 14, 13, and 10. We had a blast during our stay! We can't wait until we can stay at another Best Western Hotel & Resorts in another city. The employees we experienced went above and beyond to make sure everything was up to par. Finally, the employees made sure we were happy every time we encountered them. It was great!
We came at Christmas and really enjoyed our stay. Great price, breakfast, and suite. Close to publix, whole foods, old navy, and Bass Pro shop. Our AC stopped working and the staff cheerfully moved us next door. We will stay again.
Clean accommodations, priced right. Friendly, welcoming staff. Decent breakfast. Look for a "deal" on Groupon (certain times of the year.) Hard to beat the Groupon rate in the Destin area by any other hotel!
Heather was so accommodating for our group last night. she seemed to be the only one working the lobby and checked us in and oriented us to the hotel. we had an issue with our toilet and she came up right away to fix it. thanks so much heather!
We stayed at best western last night. It was a last minute reservation and they made all the accommodations we needed! The HOT TUB AND HEATED POOL were amazing! Sooooo fun! HEATHER at the front desk was so nice and thoughtful. She helped us PERSONALLY with a clogged toilet and got more towels for us and gave us a great experience. She was amazing at her job and truly cared about our experience. Thank you!!!
Rooms were very clean and pool was perfect! Heather at the front desk was a huge help to our group, I've never had such a great stay! She set us up in a great room and answered all our questions, and she also came to fix our toilet when it broke!
We booked this hotel for its close proximity to shopping, theater, restaurants , Parks & harborwalk. The staff running the hotel is most pleasant and informative. The rooms have their own thermostat so it is quiet, a big plus! The rooms are well appointed with modern, up to date furnishings. Fridge, microwave, hot tub and heated pool! Very clean hotel. The breakfast are hot meals. Christine??is the morning preparer & even makes a Denver omelet. She is an asset to the hotel. We stayed for 4 nights & will stay again in the future.
My husband and I were very impressed with the decor, cleanliness, price and location. Though not on the beach itself, one short mile away! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, anything you would want. Service and staff were exceptional. PERFECT????????
We had an issue with dog hair all over our blankets when we checked in (2 queen beds). We are allergic to dogs. The clerk came in 2 min. with new keys to another room. Apologized. And upgraded us to a suite. Was very nice of him. Pool was heated, super plus in the winter. Jacuzzi was huge and clean. Breakfast was good, could use another waffle maker, there was a huge line for the 2 makers. Hotel is close to everything!
This hotel is beautiful and in an excellent location. It is walking distance to the Commons as well as other places. My best friend and I enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely come back. This may be my new favorite hotel.
We had a wonderful stay i would like to say THANK YOU to all the staff! Steven Christine Heather Kyle can't wait to see you all again. We were around everything all the go to spots in the center of all the attractions. This is the spot to stay!!
We arrived late, as far as check in standards are measured. We were dead tired and road weary. We were immediately greeted by the smiling faces of Heather and Steven who then proceeded to get us checked in quickly and make sure we had everything we needed to get a good nights rest. The warmth and sincerity displayed by Heather and Steven towards my family will not be forgotten. We know where we will stay every time we visit Destin. Thanks you two, for a great holiday vacation and being great people.
I booked the room through Groupon so I got a great rate and I was told that they would do price matching as well. The staff was super friendly. They gave me dining suggestions and immediately replaced my room key when I lost mine.
This hotel is in a great area, close to shopping, easy drive to the beach and very clean but the best part about our stay was Heather at the front desk. She was most helpful and made our choice to come back easy!
this hotel was very clean and nice. the front desk associate heather that checked us in was very nice and helped us with everything we needed. Alex the other associate offered a pack n play for our son and carried it up for us, very nice gentleman. overall stay we enjoyed everything. we will be coming back soon.
The bed was up to our standards and the room was clean. Heather and Steven were very helpful with Heather going out of her way to assist us with activities and places to eat. The pool was very warm and nice to swim in. My only complaint is that the Jacuzzi is very shallow and you had to sit on the bottom to get submerged. As the night was cool it was important to stay warm.
Great hotel for off season stay at great price. Some exterior Windows need repairing, but this did not affect our stay.Great location, 10 minutes from Miramar Beach and within walking distance of Destin Commons.
My husband and I were very impressed with the polite staff and their efforts to make our vacation enjoyable. When we decided to stay an extra night, the front desk staff was very accommodating and made our change to another room hassle-free.
Loved the hotel and location. The pool is heated and their is a Jacuzzi as well. The overall experience was fantastic. The price was reasonable as well. The breakfast was continental and it was not bad at all.
The Best Western Sugar Sands Inn & Suites is a hot spot for families or individuals looking for economy and location. Close to everything you want to see and do in Destin. The money you save on accommodations can be used at the nearby Destin Commons!!
Our stay was very pleasant starting with check-in. Heather and Alex were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!!!! Breakfast was very good as well. Steven was very great with handling our stay over. Absolutely amazing and professional staff.
We stayed here prior to our flight back home. It was clean comfortable and offered good service. We had a room with 2 double beds. The pool was nice and clean but cold in mid October. We ventured out to the State Park along the beaches across the road and it is a lovely respite for the sunset without all the commercial exposure. Then we went to Dewey Destin for a unique down-to earth local seafood platter while looking over the water.
The staff here was excellent! We do a lot of traveling and this crew is the best! Clean room, good breakfast, and always a positive attitude from the staff. :) We were looking for income property and I found Brian, the general manage, to be more knowledgeable and helpful than the Realtors that we met during the week. Great asset for us!
Very nice hotel. Extremely clean, friendly staff, all the best amenities. Had a great price on AARP Travel website. Was not expecting it to be so nice, but couldn't have asked for better. Would like to stay there again if we were in the area.
We absolutely love this hotel and everything Heather and Steven did for us to make our honeymoon experience memorable. The weather was a bit cold and we had no problem just staying in and relaxing or porch sitting by the pool wrapped in a blanket. Heather has such a neighborly essence about her we stopped each time by the counter to wish her well. We'd absolutely come back and stay here any time of the year. Thanks BW and Heather for a memorable experience. We loved our Huge room and the most humble people employed here.
I stay at this hotel often . It is on the east side of town convenient to the Bay toll bridge . The rooms are comfortable , beds are good and the staff is always helpful . Its a very nice hotel and someplace I always recommend .
We chose this hotel for a 3-day golf tournament at the Sandestin Resort. The hotel served us well. We enjoyed the Suite. Ho;tel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast needed a few more healthy choices, but believe the hotel was full so realize they probably prepare according to number of guests. Housekeeping responded to any requests. We would stay here again.
Service was great. Steven and Heather, with whom I mostly dealt, were always very helpful with great personalities and went out of their way to solve any issue I had during my 10 day stay. Alex was also always nice and helpful, and Christine in the breakfast area was always pleasant and helpful. Location is very convenient. I highly recommend. It is rare to find this kind of service in today's world.
This hotel is fantastic! Each room we've stayed in has had a living area which makes it seem like a home away from home. A very courteous front desk staff and beautiful rooms. The location is great and fairly quiet.
We arrived after a 12hour drive at 11:40pm & were checked in by a very nice guy on reception he even recommended Hurricane Lane so as we could get a beer & some food, it's just across the road. Our room had two queen beds, a large bathroom & a sitting room/dining area. We were escaping Hurricane Irma who had gate crashed our holiday so we had decided to go to New Orleans & stopped here for one night to break the journey. The staff were all very nice, the rooms were clean, towels were nice & fluffy bed linen was fine but overall especially for the price the whole Inn could be better! Breakfast was very poor self service on paper plates & plastic cutlery (it was complimentary)! It was by far the poorest place we stayed on our unplanned Florida Road Trip.
The front desk staff was very nice, and the breakfast was reasonably good. Our room had a slight chemical odor that was somewhat unpleasant, but after a while we got used to it and didn't notice it so much. The size of the room and bathroom were good. The towels were nice and thick. I slept all right, but my husband said the bed was hard and he didn't sleep well. We only stayed one night so the short-comings were not a big deal.
We spent 5 nights at this hotel evading the hurricane. The staff was wonderful. We were under a lot of stress and found their actions comforting. Their names are: (breakfast area) Christine Martinez, Christine (2 by the the same name), (morning staff) Corina, Megan, (mid shift) Stephen, Heather, (night shift) Kyle. We would highly recommend this hotel.
I had my credit card cloned, it was only used by me at check in at this hotel! Subsequently used locally. Travelling as a family, nice location. Weather was not good. Beautiful beach further along coast, but need some sun.
I stayed at Best Western Sugar Sands Inn & Suites on Sept 10, 2017, through Sept 14, 2017, and cannot say enough about the hotel, particularly the staff - all were absolutely wonderful. It was a very stressful time as I had fled my home in southwest Florida due to Hurricane Irma. The room was clean and quiet. The staff was efficient, friendly, helpful, and kind. Their names are: Stephen, Christine & Christine (both worked the breakfast each morning), Heather, Megan, Kyle, and Corrine. They all made a stressful situation less by their attitude toward guests at the hotel. Many other guests were also running from Irma and was shown the same concern and helpfulness.
Very clean hotel with outstanding staff. Rooms are designed with two bedrooms or living area with bedroom. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating to folks evacuating from Hurricane Irma. Special kudos to Meagan and Stephen who made us feel welcome and looked after our brief but comfortable stay. Only complaint we had was that hot tub/ spa was not hot. Otherwise it was great. Thanks folks.
The queen suite had mold around the air vents in both bedrooms and around the shower. I was told this was normal in their weather. The remedy it while we were at the beach and sprayed bleach on my husband's clothing. They did give us $170 for 6 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts and a swimsuit cover-up. Then we got a $30 discount on the room when leaving. It was just the way they did it was rude. They said well those will make good work clothes you can take them home and use them. So vacation time turned into looking for big and tall 42's at the end of August/Sept which we were able to find 2 pairs of shorts. IE we were doing laundry for 4 hours one night so he could have clothes to wear.
Had a great time, only problem the towels were dingy, but being that they are near the beach it's understandable. And breakfast the second day was a let down from the day one I guess we were just to early and she did have time to get out everything.
Good value for the money in a coastal town. Probably not so much in peak season. Nice size room with work desk and good wi-fi. Better than average breakfast included. Convenient to VPS airport if heading there.
good location , quiet and near lots of stores and private beaches that were great!!!! hotel is near outlet and on a unique location . workers are good. just need to put more items or more variety on the breakfast area . but is good . sausages were freaking delicious !
The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are great for families as the bedroom is seperated from the living area. The rooms are also clean. The free breakfast is very good, they have the basic breakfast items but it all taste great. I would definitely stay here again
Very comfortable bed! Super clean! It had all of the necessary amenities and then some. Location was great; the beach was within walking distance, across the street, from the hotel. Can't beat this part of the beach area!
The cleaning staff failed to clean the room on Saturday of our weekend stay. The toilet kept running a lot and was difficult to get to stop. overall, the staff was great and the hotel is located in a nice area.
Very clean and will stay again I work out of town so we stay everywhere but when we can we stay in a best western they are always very nice and smell good and the staff are always very helpful too we love the best western
No smiles, Uninformed staff. Hot water is only available in the early mornings. Parking lot was filthy. Location is great for shopping and dinning. Just far enough away from the beach to avoid traffic.
We had great service and the hotel was affordable and also well-kept. It's a close drive to the beach (around 5 minutes) and we loved how it fit into our price range while also being neat and offering free breakfast. Staff was great! We are hoping to stay again next vacation!
This hotel was very patience and friendly. They even accommodated us with an extra room because we had such a large group and we needed a extra room . We would like to thank you Best Western Hotels & Suites.
Staff was kind, but there was an issue with mold in the room and around the vents. The staff tried their best to handle the issue and fix the situation. These things happen, but you expect more for the price that was paid..
Finally made it to Destin. Awesome place, lovely beaches and lots of choices for food. Hotel was reasonable and gave us our AAA discount. Loved that. We got there a little early but they called us once a room was ready. We got a suite with 2 queen beds that were almost like separate rooms. That was awesome. The room was very clean and smelled fresh which was great. The staff was very friendly, especially the breakfast team. They were prompt, courteous and very pleasant. The two downsides were walking into the hotel, there was a damp carpet smell. Not very noticeable but just enough to make you wonder if the room would be okay. For us the room was okay. Also on the day of check out, we were asked at 10:30 am if we planned to leave today. Check out is 11 am. Just made us felt rushed. Front desk was very apologetic when I asked about that but I still felt a little pushed. Overall good trip and I would recommend them as ask option if looking for a place to stay in Destin. Good access to mall and places to eat not to mention beaches. Just be aware you are not right against the beach so you have to drive for a swim.
had a great stay. wish the soap. shampoo and condition would have been bigger, had to ask for coffee the next day none was left in my room. but overall stay was great, was there for a class reunion. everything was in walking distant for us. The breakfast was the bomb eggs, bacon, sausage. waffle wow so much more. Will try to get here again
Our room was spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was good with a variety of choices. I enjoyed the waffle maker experience and the fresh fruit. We did not utilize the pool facilities since we were beach bound.
great for the days we stayed liked the way it was close to areas that we met family at to attend daughters wedding and enjoyed the convenience of shopping areas close by enough distance to walk or nice enough to walk to shopping areas and eateries
The check in was quick and easy. My 11 year old loved the pool and I loved the Jacuzzi. The location of the hotel was in the middle of all the attractions loved it. My room queen suite was like having my own personal room even though, I shared the room. My experience was excellent definitely will stay there again.
Staff were all very nice and friendly. Nice place but very pricey for what you get, I stayed in another BW on the beach for half the price of what this cost. Rooms were nice and clean but a bulb was burned out in the bedroom. The chair in the living room had a leg on it that looked like it was about to break.
It's been a while since I've written a review but I absolutely loathe FALSE ADVERTISING!! #1 - If my room was upgraded after remodeling, I would hate to see what the old room looked like. It's just a regular, standard room in my opinion. Maybe they got new sheets but this is definitely nothing to list as an added feature to this hotel on the website. #2 - As soon as we walk in the room, we are greeted with an aweful wet carpet smell! Ugh! There was already some sort of humidity machine in the room when we got there, so obviously this is an ongoing issue. When I alerted the front desk and asked for another room. They claimed to be sold out for the night but would send someone to the room the next day. So, that meant we had to suffer through the smell for the night. Someone put some sort of treatment in the next day but that made matters worse. We were there for 2 night so there was really no point in asking for another room again. #3 - We noticed the room that we received WAS NOT the same room pictured on the website!!!! We booked a 2 Queen Suite that was supposed to have 2 Queen beds in a separate room from the living room that had a couch and chairs. When we alerted the front desk, they claimed the wrong pictures were listed on the website as they had a new photographer come in and take pictures of the "remodeled" rooms. Well, that is not my problem!! Someone on your Management team gave the approval for the website, so that is still FALSE ADVERTISING!! Our room had a very wierd layout where there are 2 Queen beds separated by a bathroom that is in the middle of the room. Because of this, we could not get the air properly regulated so one room was freezing cold while the other was extremely hot! #4 - on the last night of our 2 night stay, the water was lukewarm so I was not able to take a hot shower to wash off all the stuff from the beach. At this point, I was so disgusted with the entire stay that I did not contact the front desk. At the conclusion of the stay, Management offered $100 off my bill for the smell in the room and false advertisement on the room pics on the website. We booked this hotel about 2 weeks before our arrival, so the rate was about $250 per night. The total charge for the room was $509.47 plus tax for 2 nights. So, graciously giving me $100 off my bill really just added insult to injury. Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again and this is fair warning to future trip advisor travelers!
Sitting right off bustling Hwy 98 you will find the Best Western Sugar Sands Inn and Suites. Conveniently set in the center of all the things to do and see while in Destin. From the hotel, the Destin Commons (major shopping mall) is a mere 3 min drive, the public beach is approximately .5 mile away due south, Henderson State Park is only a half a mile away to the west as well, where you can kind of escape the crowds. Sandestin and the outlet mall is 5-7 miles to the east of the hotel while the Harborwalk is only 5 miles to the west. The workers at Best Western strive to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one. You are greeted by Corrine and Megan when you check in, these ladies are quick to give recommendations and directions with a friendly smile. You will also meet Steven and Alex in the afternoons and if you're a late night/ early morning person you will get the opportunity to meet Kyle. The ladies in the kitchen are sure to make your tummy full with a huge variety of breakfast items. Christine, Christine, and Brianna work EXTREMELY hard especially when dealing with the full house. Had some minor maintenance issues in our room but Mike and Jeff, the maintenance guys, were quick to fix everything. Bottom line....if you're looking for a clean place, friendly faces, and being in the center of everything....you need to stay here!
This property is excellent form proximity to major events for us. The property was close to the ball parks and centered for all activities. Beach access was great and close by, with easey access to Publix and other restaurants. The only major disadvantage that this property had was the out dated decode and condition of the rooms. The price is horrible $198 per night, but that is the standard for the are. The hotel is really a less than $100 per night, but location location location. Breakfast was great for satisfying that morning hunger. Don't expect a 4 star breakfast because of the price. Simply the property is a plus for proximity.
Hotel was easy to get to. Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Stayed for two days and had no problems. Room was good size, clean and bed was comfortable. Parking lot had plenty of light. There were plenty of eating places close by and you didn't have to get out in traffic to get to them and it was right next to the Commons.
Great location. Right near lots of shops, kids activities, restaurants, and a short drive to the beach. Hotel was nice, beds were comfy, and staff was very nice. The suite we had was perfect. It had two bedrooms so it provided privacy for our whole family.
We will definitely stay here again. Very clean, nice staff and close to everything we needed. Breakfast was very good. The pool was clean and not to crowded. The only downside is there was not a lot of space in the breakfast area.
Air conditioner leaks into room making floor soggy near the bed. Request for disability rooms are not honored Front Desk Staff is unprofessional and combative. No television remote control in room coffee not replenished, told that Hotel does not do detail cleaning of last guest trash under the bed mattresses
Best and cleanest hotel we've stayed in. Locale is perfect for Destin!! Perfect!! Staff were great!! All smiles from day one till day four. The layout of the room was excellent. It separates the two beds by the bathroom.
This hotel is in a very good location. Restaurants, public market, beach, public parking etc...are within 5 mins either walk or drive. Staff is awesome and helpful. Breakfast is good, parking is free.
We stopped in at 11 am to see if a room was available. The lady at the desk had one, with a great rate, but it would be a while before we could get in. A man that worked there offered to check if another one was ready, and they got us right in. Very clean and comfy. Breakfast area nice and clean. We will stay here again!
The location is great. Both the beach and a large shopping mall (Destin Commons) are in walking distance. What can be improved: cleanliness of the room (particularly the disgusting AC outlets in the ceiling), the breakfast room is far too small (see photo), the gym is next door to the kitchen and smells like BBQ.
The room and amenities were exactly as pictured. The only thing that could be better is, it is difficult to put on makeup in the bathroom with the kind of lighting that is in there. We had some minor issues with housekeeping, but the employee was new. We took it up with the front desk and received a free night for another stay, so we can go check out more of Florida when we leave. We were glad for Megan's shifts (front desk). Some of the other one's usually weren't there, but she always was there and immediately helpful. The full breakfast is a good perk for families as well.
My daughter son and I, all adults went to the beach for a 2 night visit. We decided to stay an extra night and spent the night at your hotel. It was a pleasant experience. The front desk was very helpful as far as good places to eat, where to park for the beach and any other questions we had. The room was very clean and I am picky about that! I highly recommend it!
We loved this hotel so much! The room was very nice, clean and comfortable! The breakfast area was very well stocked and the food was fresh and they have the best coffee ever! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the check in process was fast and smooth! Destin is such a fun place and this hotel made it all the better! We can't wait to visit again!
Very satisfied and impressed with the level of customer service here at the Sugar Sands - Best Western in Destin, Florida. Friendly and cheerful staff. There was a rowdy bunch of kids poolside who were quite loud til at least 3am on our last night's stay but I guess that is to be expected in this area around spring break/summer. I would recommend booking a room towards the front of the hotel for anyone who really needs their sleep or has small children. Other than that, great experience!
The front desk employees that checked us in and out were both wonderful, but special kudos to the check in guy Kyle..... we arrived later than we had orinally planned (just before midnight), but no matter... he had a very upbeat attitude, was helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. I usually find some late shift employees are less friendly. Kudos to a job well done!
Not a bad hotel. Good location, clean and good breakfast especially considering it is included in the price Staff friendly and helpful Nothing flashy or any hi tech extras but no compkaints Good all round stay
The room had a good size and the 2 kingsize beds were great. The breakfast was as expected for this area including fruit, eggs, coffee, bagels, yoghurt, bacon, sausages, and so on. There was a pool which we did not use but it looked good. I would definitely come back.
We like staying at Best Westerns, but Best Western Sugar Sands was AWFUL. It looked clean at first glance, but was very dirty. Upon arrival, one of our party got it bed to rest after a long day of travel & complained the sheets felt weird...so...we pulled back the covers, and it was all sandy. Sand & hair were in the sheets :( yuck!! I don't think our expecting clean sheets is too high a standard for cleanliness. Especially traveling as a family. We had to call to get the sheets changed. The manager offered $20 off for that night alone. We were very disappointed and will not return to this hotel. Also, the front desk was not that friendly.
Stayed at this Hotel a few times on friday before I check into condo on Saturday Located across from Destin Commons. Nice rooms at decent price for the area and time. Nice breakfast also. Recommended for short stay. Would not stay for a week though.
Stayed here plenty of times. Always satisfied. Hot tub is nice. Staff is nice. Rooms are always clean. Breakfast is good for it being free. Pool is perfect for kids to play while adults relax in the hot tub.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 days/3 nights. Prior to arriving, I looked at the various reviews listed here on TripAdvisor and was looking forward to a great stay at this hotel after reading all the great reviews. I'll start with the positives. This hotel has great location. There is lots of shopping and restaurants within a 1 mile radius. Also, the beach is also very close as other reviewers have indicated. The Silver Sands outlets are also not very far away either. HOWEVER, I don't care how great the positives may sound. Cleanliness is PARAMOUNT and the NASTINESS of the rooms is why I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anyone spending their money to stay here. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly. At check in we were assigned a room, upon entering my husband immediately noticed that there was trash and that the room had only been partially cleaned. That was our first impression and it only got worse from there. Of course after getting off the road from traveling checking into a nasty room was frustrating and annoying. We went back to the front desk and notified the staff who were apologetic and assigned us to another room. Upon eyeballing the room, we though it looked acceptable. My husband and I both noted that the bed sheets were rough and very thin. We stayed one night in that room. The second night I noticed that ants were crawling all over the nightstand between the beds. We called and notified the front desk staff, and they assigned us to a different room. At that point, I was extremely annoyed. We packed up all of our things and proceeded to our new room for the night. The next morning I woke up and grabbed my toothbrush off of the TV cabinet where I left it overnight. When I got to the bathroom and pulled my toothbrush out of its case, a ROACH crawled out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was done at that point! As in ready to go home! We stayed one more night and that night my husband spotted another roach crawling on the ceiling, and I spotted ants crawling on the air conditioning unit. The next morning as we were checking out I overheard another guest complaining to hotel management about their room being nasty, so I know this is not an isolated issue. For my husband and I to stay to be assigned three (3) different rooms and for them all to have the same issue is ridiculous! Even during all the room changes, the staff never offered anything more than a half way apology! PROS Location ( Really location alone earned this place two stars) Breakfast was good CONS Ants & Roaches Dated sheets Hotel stays are my favorite part of vacationing, and I was so disappointed with the cleanliness of this hotel! After reflecting on our stay, I have only gotten more disgusted and upset, considering we paid our hard earned money to stay in a roach/ant motel! I wish we would have stayed home and saved our money. At least we would have to worry about what 'pets' we might have possibly brought back home with us.
Loved the suite layout. My husband is a TV-holic and I'm NOT. The suite had 2 TV's...One in One room and another in an adjorning room. He did one room with the TV on and I escaped to the other room with the TV OFF!!!! Bliss for me!! And the breakfast buffet was loaded with healthy protein and carb choices.
best bang for the money. 5 mins from everything I needed to access. room was comfortable, clean and welcoming. I had a king suite. my only gripe is the Wifi was a little slow but to be expected when hotel is busy. hot breakfast, and friendly staff. will definitely stay here again in the future.
Bed was so comfortable.. Pool was good.. breakfast was good.. Arrived early room was ready that was a plus.. Check in was easy and fast.. Had no issues during my stay i will definitely stay here again with my family.
Excellent hotel, no complaints! The rooms were clean, area was well kempt and the staff was very courteous. Highly recommended. Beach area is not too far away and there are enough places nearby to walk to.
Failed to make reservations; however, the clerk took care of our needs in a matter of minutes with a very positive attitude. This was one of the best stays we have had in the last 12 months. Quiet, comfortable bed, plenty of towels, clean rooms and beautiful weather.
very nice, thank you BEST WESTERN,THIS IS A QUIIET, RELAXING, ROMATIC HOTEL, a place to really chill out We think ist's fantastic. Nice sitting area, Great place to stay.We had a really nice time. Thanks again
Made reservations, they gave our room to someone who claimed her room smelled after she had already taken a bath in it and room not cleaned. The people at front desk would not clean it. So i did. At 8pm on Friday night you are not getting another room and we had just drove 5 hours. To get to the motel that had our credit card and a reservation for, that i had call 3 hours before to let them know we running late because of traffic. Will never be back. We paid full price for this crap. Front desk could not be bothered with us
Found the Best Western to be convenient to shopping and beaches, clean and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfasts were good too. The pool is situated such that, at least in late Mar., you can either sit in the shade or enjoy the sun. Not sure about the rest of the year.
We recently stayed at the Best Western for a quick weekend getaway. We purchased the room (king suite) through Groupon Getaways, and read that it had been completely remodeled. I am sure they did a bit of updating, but the majority of the hotel is not in great shape. The sleeper sofa in the room was totally disgusting, and the linens were ridiculous--blanket was ratty and torn in multiple spots. The small breakfast area was so small that I ended up having coffee in the lobby. My daughter enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi, but there is nothing else to do here. Maybe the regular room with no sleeper sofa would be a short term bargain, but we will look elsewhere next time.
Great place to stay very clean and safe the staff is very helpful and nice. Will stay here again if in the area The in room internet is very good for hotel internet was able to use it to get some work done ?
We booked our room through Groupon and got an excellent deal! Sometimes you get a bit weary of great deals at the sacrifice of subpar service, food, and comfortability of the hotel. This was not the case with Best Western Suagr Sands Inn and Suites! The breakfast was great, and the service (especially by Christina!) was AWESOME. In addition the rooms were extremely clean and worked perfect for our family of 7! Again, shout out to Christina for taking care of us!
We booked a queen suite at this hotel for a recent girls trip to Florida. The hotel was immaculate! The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety. We booked through Groupon and got a great rate.
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The majority of the wedding party stayed there. I was blown away at the price. Perfect location for shopping and dining. 2 blocks from the beach. The breakfast was excellent. Such a variety of food and fresh and area was very clean. Definitely recommend.
I called ahead & spoke to Jesse at the front desk; requesting a 1st-floor room. We arrived & Jesse greeted us with a smile! He had our room on the 1st floor as requested! Our room was 2 queen beds, dorm fridge, microwave & single-serve coffee pot. Also, hairdryer in bathroom Breakfast served till 10 on weekdays & 10:30 weekends. Served scrambled eggs & sausage patties, links & or bacon. Bread choices, white, whole wheat, English muffins, bagels, muffins & pastries. 2 Waffle makers with your choice of additions like chocolate chips, crushed Butterfingers, Oreos, dried cranberries & walnuts. Syrup, of course. Different cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, juices & coffee. Cleaning staff are very pleasant & helpful. Free parking. Will be staying here again!
We stopped at the Best Western Sugar Sands because it was a bit off the beaten path and traffic wasn't as heavy. It was only about 2 blocks from the main drag and a mile before the real heavy traffic of town begin, so it was convenient yet much quieter and less hectic. We weren't disappointed in the motel. It was clean, modern and neat. Our room had 2 queen sized beds, a microwave and refrigerator and all the other ammenities. Breakfast was excellent. Aside from the usual muffins, bagels, toast, cereals and fruits, there were eggs, bacon, waffles and all the trimmings. I'm sure the meats change daily. The staff was friendly.
Very clean rooms, good hot breakfast of waffles, eggs, sausage, muffins and more. Nice pool and hot tub. Close to beach, shopping and restaurants. Staff very nice, especially Corine at front desk. Everyone very helpful.
Great hotel nice rooms ,,, great prices ??!!! If u r Pokémon player your going to have a blast in this town "Destin Commons " This hotel is a great location !!!! Thank you to the maid !!! She was great !!! Elevator was scary tho and they could use some upgrades like tile instead of the old carpets ,,, but other than that super !!!!
Great hotel with friendly, very accomodating staff. Rooms are clean and modern. Two Queen Suites have a door between the bedrooms with a tv in each room. REAL hot breakfast each morning with eggs, omlets, bacon, sausage, hot and cold cereals, breads and pastries, the works! So conveniently located next to a shopping plaza with a Publix, Ross, Bone Fish Grill and several other shops. TGI Friday's within walking distance. Right off the main drag, Hwy 98 and within minutes of several beaches and attractions.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Overall the hotel was great and the staff was very courteous. The Breakfast was amazing. We got a group discount because of a soccer tournament and never would have thought to stay otherwise, but are very glad that we did.
We chose this hotel for the two-room suite availability at a very fair price. The location was superb for us, with easy access to all locations. Excellent, well maintained appearance. Better than average hot breakfast with two meat dishes each morning. Checking in and out was quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We plan to stay at this location again.
Overall the hotel was great! The room was a bit musty but the king sized bed was absolutely wonderful! We had expected a view but didn't get one which turned out to be okay bc the ocean was right there! The complimentary chairs and umbrellas was a pleasant surprise as was their kids movie and popcorn. Overall the staff was outstanding as was their complimentary buffet breakfast. I will definitely stay there again.
We evacuated from a hurricane to this hotel as part of a rewards program on one of our cards. It was rated the best that was still available. Can't offer any local comparison as we don't vacation here, but this one is on the edge of acceptable. It needs an infusion of cash to update the rooms. They're not terrible but they are well past "worn" and the amenities are minimal. Beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. The staff are pleasant but quick to avoid eye contact, which suggests a bad work environment. Breakfast was okay but also could use a few more dollars invested. The hotel has potential but seems to be missing the high mark at the moment. One would hope that a situation like a hurricane would be a chance to shine rather than falter, but this hotel isn't doing that.
Myself and two friends visited Destin FL in Oct 2016 for the Annual Destin Seafood Festival. We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. It was a very nice hotel that was close to a lot of restaurants, stores and the beach. The staff was very nice, helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others
Purchased from Groupon a weeks stay. Beds are medium to firm, everything was updated. Hotel staff wad pleasant and didnt treat me less-than because I bought at a discountedprice. Parking lot was clean and safe. Rooms clean were queit. Was worth every penny.
This Best Western was located in the heart of Destin very near activities, shopping and restaurants. The staff was great, the service was super and the breakfast was good. The room was clean, hotel neat and the pool and fitness was enjoyable. Will definitely recommend a stay there.
The front desk employees are so friendly and helpful. Our room was great, clean and nice. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub very much and the breakfast was good! Lots of choices. Overall it was an excellent experience no complaints here!
We booked the room thru Trevago and got a very good rate. The hotel was clean, the staff was professional and helpful, Breakfast was good and a staff member kept the items available. There were a couple minor problems in the room, but staff took care of them and when they couldn't get the phone to work offered us a different room. I would definetely go back!
We stayed here prior to our final destination and it was immaculate and ALL staff couldn't accommodate and more than they did. Even when I had a question by calling the front desk, they answered the phone immediately and new the answer to my question. This place is in an excellent location...within walking distance of many stores. HarborWalk minutes away and many restaurants nearby. Would stay here again in a heartbeat when we visit again.
Hotel was clean and modern with friendly staff. The swimming and whirlpool spa was excellent. This hotel is walking distance to destin commons shopping mall and a short ride to the beach. All in a a nice hotel for the price in destin.
Clean modern renovated rooms, nice, friendly staff. Breakfast is free and is alright. They have fruits and yogurt too-the Pool is in the back. The beaches are not too far away- close to Publix and all shopping places
I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Everything was nice and clean! The only 2 reasons I'm giving this place a 4 out of 5 is because there was one very rude receptionist named Sequoyah. She was the only one who made this stay annoying because she acted like anytime you spoke to her it was an inconvenience. I lost my phone and asked her if any had been turned in and she pretty much gave us a dirty look and said," no. I haven't gotten a phone" and walked quickly back to a room next to the service desk. She didn't even give me a chance to give my information on case it was turned in. Also during checkout she was short and rude with us. My husband and I both left feeling annoyed because she was that rude and that's how we were leaving. Everyone else was very nice, very accommodating, and treated us like we all want to be treated. The only other problem was the Jacuzzi. It was green and would foam up with nasty bubbles but as soon as we let them know they had someone working on it.
It's a good location with lots of restaurants and stores close by and not too far of a drive from the beach. In the same center as a Publix. Friendly staff, clean room, clean hotel. The only ding I can give it is that the pool was cloudy. I use the pool to exercise when traveling so I like it to look clean.
I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family. The service was great. The staff was professional and friendly. The staff was also very hardworking and helpful. We stayed three nights and it was a great experience. The beds were very comfortable. Slept like a baby. Thank you Best Western.
We had a suite which was quite big. The bathroom smelled like bleach which I thought was a good thing. There was plenty of towels, etc. The beds, and pillows were pretty comfortable. The pool was a decent size compared to some of the others we saw, and was clean. The breakfast was actually pretty good. There was quite a bit to choose from for hotel breakfasts. Really, the only negative, I have is that you can hear people in the hallway quite clearly. Probably we annoyed others because of toddler's crying, etc. We put a towel along the bottom of the door because there was a bit of a gap to help muffle the sounds. Other than that, no complaints. It's in a great location. If we ever make back to Destin, we would stay there again, for sure.
This hotel is close to many attractions, and just a 5 minute walk to the beach. The staff was so friendly, and accommodating. Other hotels in the area, that were this nice, were much more expensive. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The air vent above the bed was very disgusting and seemed to be an allergy causing disaster to happen. the housekeeping did not replenish items each day. For a non-refundable room, you would expect better services and cleaner more sanitary rooms.
The location was good with restaurants and shopping close to the hotel and the beach was right down the road. The rooms were clean. There was no safe in the room which was very inconvenient. Staff was okay. The breakfast area is nice, but the layout desperately needs to be rearranged! It was total chaos and took 15 mins to just get food and coffee because of the layout of everything. We would stay here again if in the area.
Sugar Sands is conveniently located to Henderson State Park with a great beach plus public access beaches. My girlfriend and I checked out four different beaches during our couple nights stay. We were amazed at the clearness of the water at Henderson State Park nearby and Dune Allen further up the road. This hotel was a great place to stay. There were lots of families coming to stay at the beach. The breakfast area filled up, but the staff did a good job keeping everything from running out.
Conveniently located in walking distance to food and shopping. 1 mile from the beach. Quiet and clean! Near a highway, but did not hear any noise. Comfortable beds made for a great night sleep. Friendly front desk staff.
Biggest issue was hotel not stocking bathroom with toilet paper or towels and having to keep going up front to ask for those items. Hotel was kind of clean, but overall not impressed. Sand from the beach was in the room, which is expected, but staff never vacuumed the sand in the rooms. Check in and out was easy.
Stayed 3 nights here. Great location nere shopping At Destin commons (and The movies) and a 10 minute Walk to The beach! Good restaurants nearby. Big Spacious room ( Suite) with 2 rooms ! Great for a family Of four! Small gym but all right! What keeps me from giving IT a 5 is The way too small breakfast Room for such a big Hotel! Always crowded because there is too little space! Had breakfast 10 minuters before closing everyday so we Didn't have to stand up!! Pool Also had problems At our stay, some chemical inbalance which took 1 1/2 day to fix. Nice staff! The washing room had some issues with one Of The cleaners leaving residue on all our clothes. The management reluctantly gave us refund on The money. But. IF you don't have to wash anything this wont be a problem! Overall a almost perfect stay!
The condition of this hotel's swimming pool was beyond words. The water was a dark green color. Surprised that the health dept. did not shut the hotel down. Terrible experience. Will not stay at any Best Western ever again.
Hotel was clean. Unfriendly front desk receptionist...only one individual.. Air conditioner only worked one day....did not work 2nd day. I did report it, they apologized and I checked out. Rooms were clean and breakfast was OK.
This hotel is very clean, location was great if you are playing ball at Morgan Sports Complex. Publix and other stores/restaurants are in walking distance. Breakfast was perfect for families. Housekeeping staff was on point. Only issue we had was the swimming pool. We did not use the pool because it was so cloudy we could not see the bottom of the pool. Extra points for quietness - we could not hear the guests in the next room or in the hallways. Suite was great for families. Front room with a bed, TV and desk for the kids and the back bedroom with a door has a bed, dresser, coffee maker, fridge (will not freeze a water bottle though) and microwave.
1st floor, smooth check in, nice location while we await our condo. Plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance, even had Walmart and CVS nearby. So far good. Looking forward to to the rest of the stay and returning in the future.
No complaints at all. Motorcycle touring and enjoyed our stay very much! They gave us a bottle of cold water upon arrival and it had been hot that day. Staff was very helpful with places to eat and giving directions to the beach ,etc.. New facility and in great shape!
After reading reviews for numerous hotels on Trip Advisor I finally selected this hotel. What a great choice it was...next to a Destin Commons Mall, a few blocks from Henderson State Park, and close to many restaurants. The turnpike from the north ends one block east of here. The hotel looks new or has been renovated as they said in the listing. Everything is clean and the staff has been very helpful and courteous. I feel safe in this hotel and outside due to the neighborhood. Booked on Priceline and got a good price two months out. I'd come here again if I was in the area.
If you're not planning to spend much time at the hotel and you're just using it to sleep at this is a great place! The rooms are very nice and clean! The hotel has what they call a "game room" it has a mini foosball table which is nice more than other hotels offer so that's a small plus. The fitness center is very small but you basic hotel fitness center. The pool was very hot I couldn't tell the difference of it and the hot tub. The free breakfast is well cheap. But hey it's free. And lastly the staff is very nice and gave great advice on food!
Stayed in a King suite for a few nights with my family on our first trip to Destin. The hotel is centrally located and within a few minutes drive to many of the public beaches in Destin. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the living space was roomy enough for our two kids to sleep separately from us and have some privacy for themselves. Breakfast was nothing fancy, but there was something for everyone in our group to fuel up for the beach: fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, pastries, waffles, eggs, and sausage. The on-site pool was well-kept and wasn't crowded throughout the day (we were there M-Th so weekends may vary greatly). If we travel to Destin again, we will definitely keep this hotel on our list of possible places to stay.
Great rooms, great breakfast, great location! Only hiccup was front desk was not the friendliest but in fairness, it was a holiday weekend. For being a busy holiday weekend there was not a ton of traffic, which was a blessing. Beaches were close by. Lots of homes around this location.
The accommodations were very nice for the price. Great pool. Hotel is easy walking distance to food and shopping. Can also walk to the beach, probably 3/4 mile. The staff could have been friendlier, but overall good stay.
The hotel is a great location! The hotel was close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed the up to date décor and separate queen beds. I would recommend this hotel for couples or friends taking a summer trip. We were able to save on gas because everything was very close. I did wish the hotel itself was a little cheaper but for the holiday weekend and location, we did not mind paying the price.
I enjoyed the stay, from the staff to the near-by attractions. We had a party of about 8 families. Everyone enjoyed it.... The only thing that I dislike is the fact that this survey makes you have a minimum length of characters. I enjoyed everything about the hotel and it's staff, as well as the near-by attractions........
what a fabulous weekend at the Best Western Silver Sands Destin- The pricing was reasonable and the staff was exceptionally fantastic and accommodating. - The Location of this property was right next to some of the best shopping Destin has to offer. This place will always be my first choice for vacation or just to get away for a long weekend.
We wanted to go shopping at the outlets and the Commons, but my daughter recently had a baby so we knew we needed to spend the night to make it enjoyable. This hotel was very clean, centrally located and, most of all, affordable. We checked in very easily, they checked to make sure our room was satisfactory. We felt safe and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
Great location for visiting beach communities such as Destin, Ft. Walton Beach, Seaside, Watercolor, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach. Also right next to shopping centers and several chain restaurants near by. Not far from Destin-Ft. Walton Beach Regional Airport.
Me and my 2 children stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. The beach was only 1 mile away which was nice and the hotel was located near lots of restaurants and shops.
We stayed here for the burning up the beaches car show. It is centrally located, walking distance to shopping and lots of restaurants. Clean, comfortable and very friendly staff. Nice breakfast with waffles and a few hot items..eggs,sausage. Very clean and kept up on area to eat.
Our first stop on way to New Orleans and we wanted to be near the beach. Desk clerk was very friendly, answered our questions, our room was very clean, nice large bathroom and sitting area. Enjoyed pool & jacuzzi. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was excellent. Would recommend this hotel for travelers wanting to spend time at the beach but not wanting to pay a fortune for a room.
We normally stay at another Best Western property directly on the beach, but decided to stay at this location. It is really nice, the staff was helpful and we loved the room. The breakfast was decent and the location is close to shopping and Henderson Beach.
Nice, clean, modern and spacious. Nice and big rooms with comfy bed, pillows, flat screens TVs, great and not noisy A/C. Hidden from the main street with almost no noise. Great breakfast with lots of choices, free newspapers and small Fitness room. Friendly stuff at the recpetion, quick chek in and out and resonable price for what you get. Recommended!
Was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and condition of the hotel. The staff was great, even called us to ask us if we needed anything. My husband and I have stayed at many hotels, Best Western included, and this was one of the best priced hotels, great location, and experiencse we have had. We will be back and be sure to recommend to our family and friends.
We stayed here the Weekend of the 22nd for a short weekend getaway. Despite late arrival, check in was a breeze and we were in our room within minutes. The location is convenient to shopping, publix, and a couple of restaurants. Also, Henderson Beach was a mere 3 minute drive away. The staff was professional and greeted me each time I'd walk through. The room was very nice. It had more features than I expected. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. For the prices, there's nothing better. The only complaint that I have and it is a personal thing is that I prefer a slightly harder bed. Other than that, the trip and hotel was wonderful.
We booked through Priceline and couldn't see the hotel we were booking until after purchasing. We read other reviews and became skeptical. Upon our arrival we realized many reviewers are ridiculous. The common areas are clean. The room is clean and smelled great. An hour after check-in the front desk called to make sure we were satisfied with our room and asked if we needed anything. We went for an evening swim and the pool was clean. The next day we actually spoke to the manager slash while sitting at the pool. He came out and saw the hot tub needed attention and immediately drained and cleaned it. He was very nice and seemed to really care about the hotel. I would recommend anyone to come for a visit. The breakfast is great. They have a waffle maker which was fun to use. Plenty of options of juices, cereal, sausage, eggs, and bread. We are enjoying our stay and will definitely return any time we are in destin.
We stayed here for a lacrosse tournament. I requested an early check in and was granted it. The gentleman (maybe the owner) made check in a breeze. He was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were really nice and the breakfast was AMAZING! The staff was overall friendly. The location is PERFECT! Walked next door to publix and walking distance to the outlet mall a few ways over. Driving would be maybe 2 minutes. Walking distance to TGI Fridays and very close Wendy's. The pool and hot tub was a nice touch. Other restaurants not that far. All in one the place is nice, friendly, clean, and safe. We Will be back.
The hotel was clean and nice but management a different story. I stayed at this hotel in March booked my reservation through a 3rd party site. I paid for 2 nights once I arrived. Obviously from previous reviews this is not recommended if you're staying here!! Booked for 2 nights but due to constant rain we decided to leave one day early. Spoke to Michael who said he was manager who assured me this was ok but had to get refund from the 3rd party? Did not understand but agreed. After I called the 3rd party. They called hotel and again spoke to Michael who now refuses to refund my one night! I am now having to eat this, Do not stay here!
Great checkin, and 3 of the 5 staff I dealt with were awesome, wanted to be there and helpful. Other staff were "meh" attitudes, and just took messages when I asked about housekeeping and no hotwater. Wouldn't pick up a phone to fix the problem right then. Several kids in the parking lot all 4 nights, getting in and out of two cars and generally wandering around. Feared for safety of my vehicle.
Room was not cleaned. Garbage left and dirty towels. Bed was made with dirty sheets. They have redid the rooms, but everything is cheap and not being kept up. Breakfast not good and staff not very nice or helpful. I would not recommend this hotel. Better options in area.
Picked this hotel because I like Best Westerns, what a mistake!! First of all we weren't able to check in until 6:15, staff were super rude. Acted like they could care less that check in time is 4:00, but wanted to make sure that we knew when to check out, and to not be late. Got to room and there were no towels and hair on the sheets, you could tell that they had not been changed from previous guests. When I called desk no one answered, so went there and was told they had run out of towels and the man at desk acted like I was lying when I said sheets were dirty. He said no they always change sheets and would not replace them! Had to go to Wal-mart and get our own sheets. We didn't get towels until around 11:00 that night. This was our worst hotel experience ever, I have actually contacted the Best Western customer service over what happened here. Do Not stay here! Went down the street to the Fairfield Inn and was treated with respect and it was clean!!
I have recently wrote a review on here. However, it is not longer on this site. When I tell you this story I am sure it will be taking down again. I have never experienced such filth in all my life. We had a eight hour drive to Destin. We tried for over 2 hours to get a hold of someone to inform them of late check. We ended up calling the corporate office and they too had difficulties getting a hold of someone. The corporate office gave us a an email to send to them. My husband again tried one more time and finally spoke to someone on the phone. When we arrived the night manager/nonmanage checked us in and was pleasant. The elevator had a drip bucket in the middle of the floor due to a leak in the ceiling of the elevator. Once we arrived to our room we opened the door and a aweful smell came out. The smell of floral mixed with sweat and dirt consumed us. On the middle of the floor was a "Odor Boom" that was left and forgotten about. The bathroom was filthy and uncleaned. The beds and sheets smelled as if someone had been seating in them, which were uncleaned. The air conditioner did not work and was freezing in the room. Called to the manager/nonmanager to fix the problem. He apologized and stated that the whole staff had walked out days prior and they were short staffed. my daughter who has Asthma began coughing. He eventually changed our at almost 2 am. I believed he went and cleaned another room so that we could get some sleep. The second room was clean, along with the sheets and towels. Totally different then the first room we were in. We only recieved 2 hours prior to our early start due to my childs competition. We had no hot water during our morning shower. By then we had had it! Went to talk to the Owner Slash and he became MIA. The first desk girl stated it was her first day and had no way of getting a hold of him. We waited and her never showed. She sent another staff member to tell us he would not be returning from getting forks. We went back up to our room to call the 3rd party to get some of our money back which they refunded us only one day. My husband went down to apologize to the front desk lady for his frustration and spoke briefly to another employee who was a tall ethnic man, who acted as if it was his first day also. Come to find out it was the Owner Slash! We were checking out when the night manager/nonmanger was checking us out. I have to say this is the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. We have called the corporate branch due to someone is going to end up with something from this hotel. It has the most unproffessional staff, a owner that cares nothing for his staff or his customers and the filth there is unimaginable. The Manager who will respond to this can say this is untrue like he did to James L or JackiJo but we know the truth. I also know they took down my first review!
Day staff very unprofessional – the girls were borderline rude - the carpet in the room was very filthy. The towels were not changed and when I asked for cleans ones I was told to bring the dirty ones to the front desk and then come back in an hour. !st self-service hotel I ever stayed in
Made a reservation thru Hotwire in March and got this hotel. I recieved 2 emails from hotwire confirming my reservation. Go to check in around 2:30, no one was at front desk, rang the bell and a rude middle eastern man came out and says "what"? I was shocked! Nice customer service! Told him we wanted to check in and he says no not until 4 or after. I was like ok thats again very rude. Then he says let me even see if you have a reservation. Gave him my name and he says no you dont even have a reservation here. You went to the wrong hotel. So I pull up my email on my phone and he says yes thats us but we no longer use hotwire you cant stay here. I told him that I had prepaid and he again says we dont use hotwire. I asked him what was I supposed to do, he says I dont care but your not staying here. I have never been treated so rude!! This man was disrecptful and doesnt know how to treat customers!! I think he was talking down to me because I am a female! Ended up calling hotwire and after they called and spoke with him ,was told thats a first we have never had a hotel not honor a reservation. That says a lot about this place!! Was actually put in the Wingate and it was 100% better. It is higher rated and I can see why!
This hotel has comfortable beds, and clean rooms, but when check in time is 4pm, you expect by 6:30pm when you finally arrive, that they will have a room available! Also, they were very short on towels. I am not quite sure how hotels run out of towels! I had to wait for some to get dry- and finally got towels after 11pm. Ridiculous.
The hotel staff was nice. The breakfast was sufficient. There could have been more food choices but the options that they had were pretty good. This hotel was clean and fit our needs for the two nights that we were there. The pool was not up and running but the overall stay here was decent. No complaints.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three days last week and we had a wonderful experience. The lady at the front desk at night was named Charlene and she was so helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me.
The hotel in newly updated and remodeled. The location is hard to beat, with all the shopping and restaurants around you. The beach is right down the road. You over look Kelly Plantation golf course. It is a very quiet area but still in the middle of everything.
It's not fancy and there is no view, but if you're searching for a good place to sleep, this Best Western would fit the bill. It's very convenient to a variety of restaurants, shopping and a short drive to the beach if desired. Overall, it's a good hotel to get a clean room at a reasonable rate..with breakfast. I had business the next day in Ft. Walton Beach, but always prefer to stay in the Destin area, which is a short 10-15 minute drive.
recently stayed at the Best Western Sugar Sands in Destin, Fl. and we were very pleasantly surprised....we knew it had been recently renovated but did not expect the level fit and finish and spaciousness of the rooms.....great decor, bed was perfect and the bathroom was very nicely updated.......couple the hotel improvements with a great location close to restaurants, attractions, shopping and easy access and you have a real winner......hats off to this hotel for providing us with an outstanding visit to Destin!
I would have never expected such a nice experience at a renovated Best Western. The staff was so nice and willing to help! The location is close to everything and there wasn't much hassle checking in/out.
My family and I stayed here for a reunion recently and could not have been more pleased! The staff and service were exceptional and the location was in close proximity to shopping, dining, and beach. The complimentary breakfast, complimentary internet access were definitely a value-add. I will be coming back to this hotel on my next vacation to Destin.
Room is clean and breakfast is really good. It's close to the withe beach and around with many restaurants. The weather is not that good, but I feel warm from people live here. I'd like to go back in summer.
Place is newly remodeled, Just became a Best Western location. We almost always stay at Best Western, but will not stay here again. We were suddenly and rudely awakened in the middle of the night by someone trying to get into our room. Thank goodness we had the safety latch secured not allowing the door to open. When we spoke to the desk attendant the next morning, (which took forever to come because my wife was so scared, she jumped at every sound) the attendant stated that it was probably the night clerk making a wake up call "follow-up", but must have went to the wrong room. Who does a wake-up call follow up by entering a room? Will not recommend this place at all.
Me and my friend drove 7 hours from Hilton Head, SC to Destin, FL for her birthday celebration weekend. We took a chance with this hotel seeing as how the sign stated that the hotel was newly remodeled. The front desk staff was very friendly, and booking and checking in was a breeze. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous!!! I definitely will make the white sands my first choice the next time I visit Destin.
I love Destin. It's a big journey from the UK which I've made several times, and this time I thought to try staying away from the beachside properties I've stayed at up until now - I always drive to quiet beaches so I thought I'd save the huge cost this time So, the White Sands is really close to Destin Commons, and has ample parking for the size of the place. The lady at check in was really friendly and gave me a front facing room up a couple of floors The room had no spectacular view, but that was fine, I wasn't expecting the hanging gardens of babylon :) , but was a really good size with 2 double beds Everything was clean and comfortable and I had no issue with anything The main reason to choose this hotel in my opinion is it's proximity to Destin, Fort Walton and for me the finest beaches along 30A - Grayton, Blue Mountain etc, Sure I'd stay again, and I'd recommend it to others too
I booked a room for 2 nights and thought I got a good deal until 1 month later when I got my bank statement. The place charged me $350.00 for smoking in the room. I am disabled and this amount coming out of my account HURT BAD. They said it was a non-smoking environment AFTER I called to find out what the charge was on my statement. If I would have known they were going to access my debit card for this ridiculous charge, I would have paid cash for the booking. DON'T STAY AT WHITE SANDS INN AND SUITES IN DESTIN FLORIDA. THEY SCREW THE DISABLED PEOPLE FOR SMOKING IN THEIR PRECIOUS REMODELED BUILDING.
So glad we found this place. We booked early and got a great deal. Clean and comfortable. They are changing to a Best Western so we will look for them next year when we travel here on business for the Destin Festival of Art.
We stayed here for 5 nights and it was really nice. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The only issues we had was getting enough towels but I always bring some from home. They cleaned up our room when we needed and it was a very comfortable stay. It was only a mile from the beach we went to and very close to shopping. What more could you ask for? I would definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you for making our stay in Destin, FL awesome!
