« Awesome stay with Indian restaurant »

It was most feasible location for commuting to workplace. Best thing is the Indian restaurant , never missed any kind of Indian food. The staff and chef are very good. Only issue was people said not to go alone late evening on the street , but that's ok, we just need to be careful

    « Excellent Service »

As a first timer in Africa, I spent a long time looking/deciding for a hotel that would match all the things that were important. As I needed to be close to town where most people I'm meeting are staying and a close proximity to the airport. And it brought me to booking my stay with Best Western CBD Hotel. The room was spacious and have everything you require for a pleasant stay. Cleaning staff cleaned my room everyday and fresh towels were provided daily. When it comes to the staff, there is an eagerness to help and a kind manner. There is no trouble in asking, regardless of whether day or night, ur request will be dealth with. My 5 nights stay in this hotel was definitely worth it and I would love to be back. Keep it up!

    « Nice hotel »

A place to relax. Very polite and professional staff. I woul recommend business to consider staying at the hotel as it is quite near the airport. It is thus strategic as you avoid the Dar Es salaam traffic.

    « Very pleasantly surprised »

We have recently had the opportunity to spent a few days in Dar, connecting from a life time safari trip to a long waited relaxed time in Zanzibar. The CBD hotel has all the things you look for to make a stay in Dar well worth it. Perfect location, short trip from airport and so near to the city centre! Staff are so helpful and attentive! Anything we ask for was dealt with in no time! We certainly did well use of all the facilities. Early morning workout at he Gym! So well equipped! And after a busy day in Dar a relaxing afternoon at the roof terrace pool! What else can you ask for? Well, do not missed dinner at the Mumbai restaurant! It will complete not only your day but an unforgettable stay at the CBD hotel! We highly recommend it.

    « AFFORDABLE AND COMFORTABLE »

My visit to Dar with my wife was truly memorable one .Best western CBD met all our expectations from airport pick up til we reached the hotel.Front office were very welcoming. Room set up is like a 5star hotel. Great food at Mumbai spices -and good aroma of coffee at Masai Barista . I would say if you maintain your quality service - you would definitely be the choice of all travellers .you have given so much value of what is being spent. Cheers to the management -you have a great team! Would certainly recommend the hotel.

    « NOTE OF APPRECIATION »

Its my first business visit in Dar and never expected to stay in such a great hotel in the heart of the city. A friend of mine recommended to book at Best Western CBD .Honestly had a great time with all friendly staffs at the hotel. I've been assisted well by one filipino guy who became my friend during my stay. His name is Charles. The hotel is extremely clean /hygienic and well maintained .Loved the coffee and Pizza at Masai barista. Cheers to all the staffs.

    « Wonderful service »

The location was just perfect. Clean quiet room, warm customer service and good indian menu. I also loved that you have spa and gym. Too bad my stay was too short. I will surely come back. If you are in Dar for business, this is the place to go.

« Very friendly place close to the airport »

We were transferred here after our flight has been cancelled. The advantage of this hotels position: you don't have to travel through downtown traffic to get to and from airport. The place is clean and very friendly

« Good choice for a quick overnighter »

We had 1 night in Dar before leaving on our international flight back home very very early in the morning. I looked around for something close to the airport and BW is the closest non-hostel style place. Like many other people mentioned, just be warned that traffic is horrendous here. Even though it's only a few miles, took us a solid 40min to get from the airport to the hotel during the day. Of course going back at 2AM was easy. The hotel is clean, beds comfortable, has a pool that we didn't use, and was perfect for our purpose. Mumbai Spice the Indian restaurant downstairs is actually quite good, I really liked my chicken tikka dosa! My only complaint is that when we were checking in, somehow they couldn't find our reservation for a long time. This led to unnecessary anxiety for us thinking that we didn't have a place to stay and was on the phone with our travel agency. After a while, the girl said that she found it in an email... Why is a reservation in an email??

    « Great facility »

« Not Just for Business!!! »

I was very impressed with the quality of this hotel, especially for the great price. I contacted the staff before my trip and they arranged a driver to pick me up at the airport as my flight arrived at 3 am. The ride was just 20 minutes, maybe less. The hotel was very clean with cold A/C available in my room and hot water. The WiFi was the fastest I experienced while traveling in Tanzania. The free breakfast was exceptional including several hot dishes; custom omelettes were also available. The pool and bar area were lovely and I spent an evening there after a great dinner at the Indian restaurant on the main level. As a woman traveling alone I felt very safe while on the hotel grounds. I did venture out exploring in both directions but I don't recommend it for safety reasons.

« great place to stay »

We have stayed at many hotels in Dar es Salaam, (Holiday Inn, Slipway, Doubletree): But by far CBD Best Western is ahead of the class in: from the airport pickup to the, porters, front desk, housekeeping. Clean rooms, bathroom well stocked, a/c good, all the way to a very good breakfast( wait staff and egg cook) and last but not least, the GM very attentive. When in Dar es Salaam CBD Best Western is for us

Absolutely loved my stay here! The staff was extremely courteous; the hotel was gorgeous! Loved the rooms. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had an exceptionally stay. The food is out of the world, especially the Indian restaurant. Highly recommend the Best Western CBD Hotel in Dar! There's no comparison to any hotels, this is undoubtedly the best in Tanzania!

    « Nice Hotel »

I stayed here for three weeks. The rooms were nice. The food was good. The staff was exceptional. They were all trying there best to help you all through the day. Joseph, who runs the bar/pool area, really made my stay. I can not say enough about him and His staff.

« Diamond in the rough »

Having travelled to Tanzania for business over the last 10 years, I was delighted to find CBD hotel this year and shall be making it my permeant stop in Dar. I have spent most of my life in hotels all over the world and find CBD to match the international standards I have come to expect, their friendly staff are attentive and responsed to my requests without requiring reminding. I also found that the reception was very helpful to find restaurants that met my need even though they were located outside the hotel. The swimming pool is clean and perfect for a dip to escape the African heat and the Spa lady even recommended some ointments for a back problem I have had from playing cricket in England. I think I can now stop hotel hoping in Tanzania as I have found my perfect fit, see you again very soon CBD.

« Great hotel for anyone visiting Dar Es Salaam »

Stayed at Best Western CBD recently as part of a trip to attend a wedding and also as a stop over to visit Zanzibar Island. This hotel was modern and relaxing with great facilities. Nice to have a pool and a gym with a great view. Suitably located to get around the city and to the airport. Would happily recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Dar Es Salaam.

    « Good and central »

/// We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights before we took our connecting flight to Zanzibar to explore Dar es Salaam . This hotel is centrally located and at the same time not far from airport . Food was amazing at the Mumbai Indian restaurant! Breakfast catered everything we needed and rooms were clean and spacious. Good value for money.

« Great place to stay »

« Convenient to the airport with lots of ammenities »

We had a 10-hour layover in Dar es Salaam, so we booked this for the day after a long journey from a jungle camp. Their driver picked us up at the airport ($25 extra fee) and 20 minutes later we were enjoying hot showers, a massage, and a beer by the pool. The food at the Indian restaurant rivals a lot of the restaurants in India. The staff were extremely abundant, friendly and helpful. Compared to some of the other hotels in the center of town, this is both a bargain and very convenient to the airport.

    « Hotel Review »

I have visited Best Western CBD on several occasions. The standards have been maintained. The hotel is favourable for business trips and I believe for leisure visits. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

« A Modern Hospitality at the Center of Dar es Salaam »

I enjoyed my stay at Best Western Colosseum in Dar es Salaam. Beginning with friendly staff, and well ventilated rooms. I particularly enjoyed the use of reliable internet in the rooms. The internet speed is quite reliable making it easy for one to work from their rooms.

    5
    « Great Business/Trip Hotel, Great Facilities »

Located in City center , 10 min away from the airport . CBD hotel is surely one of the best mid range hotels for your business trip or tour, their prices are so affordable and you can find everything for your amenities ( great restaurants , gym facilities , spa , conference room , pool ...) their staff are so helpful and friendly especially the receptionists ... the room's environment is so on point .... and by the way the location is so convenient to your bank offices and CityMall

    5
« Excellent Hotel and Gym Facilities »

Best Western CBD is the perfect hotel if you are in Dar es Salaam for business. They have excellent gym facilities and their Mumbai Spices restaurant offers delicious food. When you are tired from a hectic day, you can enjoy a good meal and also relax by the pool. Try the Crispy Chilli Chicken, Kali Mirch Kebab or Dosas. Highly recommended!

« Tour should be like this. .. »

First thing I would like to say about the hotel"wow"really I am impressed. It's excellent in every way.it's totally changed from my previous experience. Foods are awesome in taste. Excellent service. Great ambience.so humble staffs. And finally I would suggest to all my friends by our indian terms "Tanzania aao or apna ghar ka khana kha ke jao" presented by Mumbai spices.

    « Everything was HORRIBLE! »

Everything was HORRIBLE! The staff was incompetent especially the little girl, Fatima, posing as a manager. The food was disgusting with flies all around the breakfast food. There were roaches in the room and I have photos to prove it. The pool was small and appeared unsanitary along with the lounge chairs, just nasty. The building was old and raggedy. There was nothing but filth and condemned buildings around the hotel. Everything that was listed under room facilities had to be requested from the front desk, from the bathrobe to the mini bar. There was nothing in the mini bar and they refused to fill it. I took photos of everything including the so-called IT guy that opened my hotel door as I was about to take a bath stating he was checking all the doors at the hotel for security. The man didn't knock nor announce himself, I feel if anyone was a thief and pervert it was him. This place was far BELOW the standards I've come to expect from a Best Western hotel. They need to condemn it. I will be filing an official complaint with Best Western.

    4
    « Business trip stay »

Stayed at the CBD BEST WESTERN for 3 nights in total, the hotel was a very pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights, the rooms were spacious and clean. Bedding was fresh unlike some other African hotels ive stayed in over the years. There is a Chinese/Indian restaurant within the hotel that was very good and reasonably priced. The portions are on the large side especially the side dishes so a meal for 1 could stretch for two to eat. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly, Joseph the barman made you feel very welcome and could not do enough for you.

    5
« Perfect place to stay in »

Stayed there from 20-24 January 2018. Professionally run place. Absolutely the friendliest and helpful staff I've met. The food at the restaurant is great with lots of variety. Breakfast was good too and I especially enjoyed the brown bread and the scrambled eggs. The rooms were spacious, the AC was easy to use unlike many ACs. The gym though is really something. You can do kickboxing, treadmill, free weights, machines. In some hotels, they will say they have a gym but it's like a couple of dumbbells and a treadmill. This one is top of the line. Anyway, we'll be going back soon and will definitely stay there as well.

« Nice Place to Stay. Lovely Food. »

I enjoyed my stay. Clean & Comfortable room. High label of hospitality. Fantastic breakfast & good varieties. Staff are very helpful. Lovely Indian Restaurant. Gym is quite nice. I can recommend. Close to town.

    « Awesome Food! »

Well last month I was there in Dar-es-Salaam on a business trip. One of my friend recommended Best Western CBD Hotel specially for Indian food. So I walked in to taste the flavour of India (actually I always love to try new places and new foods). To my surprise the name of their restaurant is "Mumbai Spices". And I must say that the taste of almost all the food is awesome. Need to mention that their Chicken 65 and Chicken Biriyani is something which you should never miss. Even water balls are awesome. You should also try Mutton Biriyani. During my short stay of just 4 days I had my 3 meals in Best Western CBD Hotel only. On the top of that the staff and the management was very courteous and humble. On my special request a person from the senior management took me for a round of the entire hotel. She showed me all the facilities available in the hotel starting from the terrace pool to the spa to the convention hall and then to the terrace gym. This gym again has an unique feature that it has a 360 degree view. You can see the almost whole of Das-es-Salaam from the gym. Lastly I would like to mention that whenever I will be visiting Dar-es-Saalam next time for sure I will be staying in this beautiful hotel which is centrally located and the rooms also seems to be very comfortable. This time I had to miss my stay here because of my pre-booking at a different place. I wish all the very best to the staff and the management of Best Western CBD Hotel, Dar-es-Salaam.

« Great hotel with good service »

I stayed here for business. Conveniently located near airport and town. Hotel staff were very pleasant and room was very clean. They went out of their way to give that bit extra. Food at the Indian restaurant was delicious and staff friendly. Price was good considering all the other hotels in town.

    5
    « Comfort »

This is my third stay and once again the service and accommodations were great. The staff recognize you and address you friendly & respectfully. The Management are always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay relaxing and worry-free. The food, WOW; is delicious and cooked to your requests. The Chef is always pleasurable and enjoys feedback. Overall, everyone makes you feel welcomed!

« An Excellent Place to stay in Dar es Salaam. »

Its a lovely place with highest level of hospitality, it has located to an absolutely city center where you can do whatsoever required in town accompanied with a Delisious food of different varieties, I have gone to different hotel in Tanzania but this one is different, staffs are smart, charming and helpful. Drinks ,breakfast and gym are the reason why I prefer Best western to other hotel in Tanzania.

    « Excellent »

clean room, accommodating staff, delicious food at both restaurants. try the gym it has a superb view. we had one issue with the laundry, and they were able to help us with it. big thanks to the lady who provided us with that service. will definitely come back to this hotel.

    3
« need to improve services »

I have stayed 3-4 times in this hotel but day by day service is deteriorated, water not passing through washroom, teared towel, only one towel for 2 person, small bed size.....bed size is not sufficient for 2 persons of 6ft

    5
    « Relaxing Experience »

Their services were excellent. Facilities were standard. Food was delicious. Environment was strategic, just at the city centre. Security was maximum. Shuttle service was prompt. Staff were professional and friendly and I hope to visit again soon.

    4
« Comfort and Service quality »

Service quality and Amenities , the service was good, the gym is excellent and the staff quite able and helpfull. The Bar needs some sheltering from Rain The location is good for business but could be quite noisy for a conference

    2
« Good in logistic, but disappointing »

Business trip. Reception is "old style" furnished, people at the desk is listless and unable to smile or welcome the hosts. Rooms are barely clean with bathroom in very old conditions. Gym is good and wellness centre has expert masseuses. Bar-terrace is nice, but the service is lazy and tremendously slow. The position is good: close to the airport, city centre, industrial area.

    3
    « Convenient airport hotel »

My husband, my children and I stayed for a night before an early flight. We arrived from the ferry to Zanzibar-a quick (baring in mind Dar traffic!) 10mins and we received a friendly welcome. There was a slight issue with the booking, but this was resolved quickly and with minimal fuss. One of the main reasons for staying here was for the swimming pool-a hope to extend our holiday one more day, and to give the children a break on our long journey; this hotel provided that. However, the shower was cold-not what you expect when hoping for a bit of luxury. The Indian restaurant was exceptional, and very reasonable-I would stay here just to eat there again. We had a very early start (3am), but the hotel had packed breakfasts ready for us when we checked out. I would say it's a bit expensive for what you get, but still a good option.

    4
« Handy for airport and nice modern hotel »

Often use Best Western hotels in Europe, so was pleased to try this one. Overnight stay for business visit was very pleasurable. The staff were friendly and professional and the room standard was excellent. Possibly more suited to business than pleasure use as it is not central, but good for access (by Dar standards).

    3
« CONVENIENT LOCATION OF CITY AND INDUSTRIAL AREA / AIRPORT »

Perfectly fine for overnight stay. Room and facilities in room meet basic requirements - TV, refrigerator, phon, and, of course, airconditioning. Breakfast leaves something to be desired both in terms of choice available, quality as well as presentation of same - and re-stocking.

    5
« Pleasant and great value. »

We passed by several times but never stayed. I am glad we stayed. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean. WiFi good. If you are just relaxing with a little TV, this hotel has what seems like 100s of stations: international, local, movies, children's, news, multi language, and faith based. Hotel has 2 restaurants: 1 with tasty Indian and Chinese cuisine, the other oven pizza. Seems priced correct, good value. Room size for standard is average, not very large but adequate. Part of an international network. One advantage if you are a repeaters you can join rewards program.

    4
    « transit visit »

arrived from Uk and neede a rest before continuing to Mwanza in the morning. They met me at airport and allowed an early checkin. room confortable and staff helpful. Again left early in the morning and transport ready and waiting. The car is not free but about the same price as a taxi and no hassle!!

« Good Hotel to stay for a short Visit »

Its been more than an year i have been staying in this hotel. The hotel is ok, staff is well behaved, they have a good choice for food to offer. One of the best gyms in the town. However, i still believe there is a lot of scope for improvement. The breakfast menu is redundant, the train yard view from the hotel is creepy. I would recommend it for short business stays.

    4
    « Bed and Breakfast »

Very nice hotel with nice rooms but the breakfast was too basic, didn't enjoy it. It's quite place and there is spa, gym, sauna etc. A good place to stay. It depends on which one you choose to go but the one in town does not have a good outside view, mostly for people doing business in the city centre.

    5
    « Great 1st night after a 2-day flight »

Great hotel after a long 2-day flight. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay and decided to stay an extra night. We had airport pickup which made it easy. I highly recommend this hotel

« My Best Western Experience »

My experience at Best Western Hotel was overally good. Their hotel was clean and well maintained. Access to internet was decent although it could be improved. The food was delicious esp the food at the Indian Restaurant.

Not good for the Price Offered. There is much more required to improve the cleanliness of the rooms. as well as the services offered to the Guest at the price it is charged. Breakfast Menu to be extended.

If you have business in town or at the harbour, this hotel is perfectly located. On the main road from the airport, without the added 10 k or so to Oyster Bay and its upmarket joints. Rooms are ok, Internet works, breakfast is acceptable and service friendly. There is a pool and a gym. Nothing special, nothing to complain about and rather cheap. A good deal.

Hotel is nice and staff is very Friendly. The pizza restaurant in hotel is off the chain good. The rooms are a little bit better than average and are a nice size. The bathroom was clean and the room was clean. All in all a solid 4 star hotel.

« Good for business needs breakfast improvements »

Dear All, I stayed in the hotel in last 10days. I can say that it is perfect for business, since it is close to Airport (max 60min even during traffic), and also close to city centre. the Staff is supportive and will follow up what you asked them for. The breakfast needs some improvements, fruits are good, but the hot food is not that good. I used to take tea, but I need to press on the machine many times to get the hot water. The quality of Croissant, donuts and cake can be improved. AC is big and good but Refrigerator of room was not working. my room has door with adjacent room, and this was sometimes source of noise.

cant thank hotel enough for the help they gave us with our luggage ... which didn't arrive when we did. Receptionist spoke exceptional English. Great spot for airport (though it did take us 40 mins to do the 10 min drive in rush hour)

« Perfect choice to celebrate our daughter's first Birthday because of Mr. Tanveer »

My title says it all. We loved everything about this hotel because of Mr. Tanveer. We celebrated our daughter's first birthday on 5th October with friends & family at Best Western Plus Colosseum Hotel, Colosseum Hall (1st Floor) Mr. Tanveer made sure that everything was perfectly arranged. The food was fantastic. Service was very good. Thank you Mr. Tanveer for making our daughter's party a memorable one. Excellent 1st birthday party experience! A big thumbs up to Mr. Tanveer once again!

Stayed with the hotel for 11 days. Staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful. The rooms and other facilities are clean. The food is great. The service is excellent. The location is ideal for me as I needed to be near the airport and accessible to my clients.

    « Good for a group. »

We had a large group that traveled to Dar on a surgival mission. The hotel and staff were courteous, accomodating and patient with our schedules. With a bit of notice, the restaurant would keep the kitchenopen to feed us when we returned from the hospital late. The food was safe and delicious and we felt safe there. Overall positive experience.

    « Mediocre »

Visited the Best Western Plus Colosseum in Dar es Salaam for one night with my husband. This hotel is half way between airport and town so not ideal for tourists in my opinion. We had a warm reception from very helpful staff members. The room was very tired and had a funny smell. However we are so tired we sprayed some perfume and turned on the aircon. We ordered room service which was great and reasonably priced. The bathroom was large and relatively modern with a powerful shower. There was no safe in the room. Average stay overall.

« Good hotel for Business - Not for tourism »

I stood there for a long business trip (30 days) The localization is not the best one with a huge boulevard in front and the railway in the back... Nothing really attractive around - The place to be is definitively the Peninsula in Dar! Standard room. The bathroom should have better furnitures, it is very minimized: Nothing to put your stuff on. The company installed such a strange "double glazzing" for the windows system that there is no more chance that your windows will be clean. WiFi is not really stable, but has been improved. All the food is based on Indian and Chinese, if you stay long you will probably be fed-up! Breakfast is "standard" but the cofee is just not good ! Otherwise, the personnel is very welcoming and the stay was globally good!

« Good hotel with a few issues to resolve »

We stayed there on a trip to Tanzania. The hotel is not too far from the Airport about 15 minutes by car on a weekend and about an hour when the traffic is bad. The traffic in Dar is bad so choose a hotel location carefully if its just an overnight. We had a pleasant welcome and were put in a good room. It had all of the amenities you would expect. The room was an average sized room and the air conditioning worked well. My main issue with the hotel was security. The security looks great there is a gate, then security around, CCTV and security doors on each floor. However, when my friends arrived someone followed them into the hotel, snatched a handbag and were helped out of the hotel by doors being opened. There is a good picture of the culprit on the CCTV. The doors on each floor were generally left open so they were no deterrent. I have to say that the staff were concerned about the incident and were very helpful in getting my friends printed documents needed for the embassy to replace a stolen passport. So be on guard. The food in the hotel was good and a huge selection. Two restaurants but you could choose from either menu.

« Equidistant From Airport and Town »

Firstly, I would like to mention and thank Leah on reception and the hotel driver who took us to Ubungo bus station and ensured we boarded a bus safely ? it was chaos! Now for the review. Check-in was warm, welcoming and fast. Wifi was good ? you have the option of 2 separate networks for your floor so you can switch between them to ensure you always benefit from the fastest connection. I was able to stream TV shows with no buffering. Breakfast is served in 1 of the hotel's 2 restaurants and has everything one would expect from a top hotel ? egg station, fresh fruit etc. The room itself was a normal-sized room and appeared clean but had a very musty smell to it. The scent disappeared after the window had been opened for a little while but reappeared almost immediately after closing it. The bed was comfortable and the shower (while it wasn't a power shower by any description) had good strength to the water flow. Location-wise, as hinted at in the title of the review, the Colosseum is fairly close to the airport but you could also walk into the centre of Dar within 30 minutes up one essentially straight road, though I wouldn't advise it.

« Nice hotel with friendly staff »

I stayed here overnight flying through Dar and had a great experience overall. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They were able to arrange airport pickup for $30, which we could charge to our room. Room service came from the Indian restaurant within the hotel, which was basic, but okay nonetheless. The room was quite nice, especially the bathroom, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

« Overnight stay - closer to airport than many hotels »

Very pleasant experience. Room large, comfortable typical 4 star hotel room. Beds comfortable. Very pleasant staff. Pool area where we dined nice out-door area up-stairs. Meal good. Excellent SPA where had a very good massage, experienced masseuse after 24 hour flight from Australia. I choose this property because closer to airport than many of the other hotels. Traffic in DAR is horrendous and peak hour traffic can cause very long delays. If you were a long way from airport at e.g. otherside of town if might take you two hours or longer in peak hour traffic.

    « A Favorite Hotel »

Still a great Hotel close to the city Centre ,rooms are small but very accommodating , breakfast very decent , Indian Restaurant is always the best , the managers always give u a great recommendation , The Internet is on max. Speed I would reckon, downloads etc very possible and free ! Slight concern would be to get one of the rooms on the lower floors as the Gym starts early morning and shuts off late night , u might literally hear the lifting of weights if ur on the 5th floor ( smoking rooms ). All in all a great Business hotel, definitely recommended .

    « A 4 * hotel that thinks it is 5 * and I enjoyed it enormously »

An excellent 4 * hotel with modern facilities, nearest to the airport was our stay for two nights stay on our way to Zanzibar from London. The room that we had was small but had modern facilities of A.C, mini bar, fridge, tea making facilities and was very clean. The staff were generally very polite, courteous and friendly and professional. The mezzanine pool and bar was very good and never busy. The icing on the cake was the gym and the spa which had up to date facilities as the pictures will show. We had all out meals at the Mumbai spices which was excellent and did not try out their pizza joint as the Indian cooks in the Mumbai spices produced good aromatic indian specialities which we enjoyed. The area around the hotel is a bit run down but once you are in the hotel, it is almost like paradise in Dar es Salaam. The higher quieter rooms are the best. We will certainly go there again,

« Really the BEST hotel »

The BEST in the hotel's name is genuinely deserved. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism and service I received (especially as I had just been in US, South Africa and Turkey). All the porters were very helpful and courteous. Mr Sixtus (at the front desk) acted in a very alert manner when the external taxi that I had previously booked didn't arrive. He quickly arranged for the hotel's taxi to take me to the airport. Bravo for his timely intervention which ensured that I arrived on time! Miss Shirley (at the front desk) was very efficient when I requested her that I needed to post a big parcel. She obtained all relevant information. Mr Iddy (the taxi driver) helped to carry my parcel as well as talked with the staff of the post office in Swahili so as to ease the process. The Breakfast Manager arranged a breakfast parcel which exactly suited my needs (fresh fruits) and the parcel was duly available at 3.00 am before my departure. I plan to come to Dar next year with my family and I am definitely staying here.

    « Central Location »

My wife and I with a couple of friends only spent one night in the hotel whilst in transit. The hotel was clean and indeed of an expected standard, however I have to say a big thank you to all of the staff, who really went out of their way to make our short stay pleasant and comfortable with particular thanks to Ibrahim for doing a really great job with nothing too much to ask for - really appreciated and many thanks from all of us to all of the staff.

    « Business classy hotel »

Been travelling in and out of Dar for quite some time. I stayed in this hotel as it is closest to the airport. Been in some other hotels, but this is what I exactly need. Very clean rooms, friendly staff with all the smiles, internet was good, pool bar great, gym good but the food service was a bit disappointing though. Food delivery is too slow. Apart from that, my overall stay was excellent. Would be coming back thats for sure!

    3
    « Dar convenience »

We stayed here one night because my family were traveling the next day and we didn't want to risk being late with early morning Dar traffic. We booked on line but when we got to the hotel there was no record so I suggest you follow up with a phone call when booking. This meant we had to wait a good 30min as they prepared our room, we needed an extra bed. Pleasant staff, good sleep, hot water and air-conditioning, parking and 20 min to the airport, that's Dar convenience. Oh, keep an eye on your luggage while checking in, it could be mistaken for check out luggage and go the airport, thankfully ours was returned safely to our room :-)

    3
« Close to airport and has a fantastic spa and gym »

Rooms are clean but basic, and finishes are not that great. The restaurants are very average. Close to airport which is very convenient. The gym and spa are top quality and pool is nice with small bar alongside. The staff are very friendly and this hotel is convenient if you need to work in town or catch an early flight.

    3
« Very comfortable for the business traveller »

The hotel is situated at a very convenient location, not right in the middle of town where traffic can be can be a nightmare, but a bit on the periphery where traffic isn't too crazy. The staff are very polite and willing to assist. The rooms are not fancy but they are very clean and the bed was quite comfortable and there is good wifi reception, which is considered a must these days. OK if one is easily annoyed by street noises then this is not the hotel if you absolutely want a good night's sleep. I however requested for a room higher up since the rooms overlooking the back side are more often that not fully booked. I honestly cant complain.I had good quality sleep. I however noticed that they know this is an issue and have fitted the windows with noise proof glass to try drown out the street noise. The only downside would be the food variety. Whereas there's an OK breakfast buffet the rest of the meals must either be pizza or Indian cuisine. I don't like spicy food and as much as I love pizza, having it every night for a week isn't my idea of fun!! I'm yet to step on a weighing scale since!LOL! Overall it's a good hotel and I definitely would not hesitate to choose it again(once I shed off the weight!!LOL)

    « Worst ever, I think »

Just did the Check-in, went to the room, and check out imeediately, not even unpacking. Room was small, and toilet was minimum (not even a shelf to put your toiletries...) Two restaurant options: fast food and an Indian one. So only these type of food lovers will be satisfied. On the other hand, no Cafeteria or similar where you can sit and enjoy a tea or coffee after the day. No bar, by the way. My room was on the first floor, and the "beautiful" views are attached as a picture... Just see. I checked out immediately and -as said- not even unpacking my suitcase. BUT THEY CHARGED ONE NIGHT !!! I call this stealing money from people. If your hotel is under the discerning traveler standards, bear with it. Or change your Hotel and upgrade your standards. But charging one night to a guest that did not make use of your premises is stealing. And that's not good. By the way, please do not reply to me. Your false and empty excuses have no credibility at all. Reimburse that money you improperly charged me and I will happily communicate it herein as well. I really encourage you to clean the image of your hotel.

« Well looked after hotel in the midst of a busy area »

A great halfway between the airport and coastal area of Dar. Service, food and accommodation of a high standard where the staff are very helpful in all aspects to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

« Clean hotel in convenient location »

Hotel is clean and in convenient location, for those who need to visit Central Dar. Not a luxury hotel. Breakfast is fine, but could be better. Staff is helpful. They gave me a room facing Nkrumah Street, which is noisy, though I did ask for a backyard room. The taxi service provided by the hotel is expensive, definitely beyond average. They argue that their taxi drivers are reliable, but I regularly travel to Dar (since 2010) and, so far, I have never had any issue with local taxis. But for these small issues, the hotel is more than fine.

« Good service, rooms not the biggest »

Whilst the service in this hotel is the best of the three Best Western properties in Dar es Salaam, the rooms are the smallest. Nothing is missing in the room, but I found them quite compact. There is a good outside swimming pool and bar, however be wary for the local malai (ladies of the night) who often sit at the bar at weekends. For hotel food, the choice and range of items on the menu is wide, the service is good, and the quality is fair. Breakfast is buffet style with a wide choice, however many of the chilled items are not kept refrigerated (it is tropical), and the hot food sits in several bain maries, so if you are late to breakfast you may find some of the items less appealing than if you are an early riser! Rather have one of the freshly prepared omelettes. A wide choice of TV channels are available from the cable box in each of the rooms, and whilst WiFi is widely available throughout the hotel, it can be slow and unresponsive at times. Rather get yourself a local SIM card and use your phone as a hotspot. It gets quite busy outside during the day and getting around can be slow. It is not advisable, unless you know where you are heading, to venture out at night unless you have arranged transport (You will struggle to find any of the bajajis commonly found in Oyster Bay and other parts of Dar, as they are not allowed into the city centre)

« PLease COme to Tanzania and Stay at Best Western Cosseum »

The hotel was very nice. At first I didn't like the exterior appearance, but after crossed the gate and get onto the lobby I realized it was exceptional. First I did like the Décor on the lobby IM a history geek and one of the thing weight to stay was the roman décor. Costumer service was very help full I did ask for a electrical adapter and in less than 5 minutes I got one.I like the smile of the people who work there. The pool is little but awesome since you can have a drink and see the street and building around. Room was clean and comfy. The breakfast was above expectation nothing like the breakfast I'm used to in the USA were there is not o reduced offer. I really encourage people to come to Tanzania and stay in this hotel.

    « Clean and convenient »

We stayed here for just about 6 hours before a flight. A last minute room on Expedia cost about $120. The hotel is clean, with good AC, plenty of hot water, lots of outlets to charge devices, fast Wifi in the rooms, a comfortable bed, a great pool and bar, and two restaurants. We ate at the Indian restaurant and it was really good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A ride to the airport costs $30 and took a half hour at 9pm despite how close it is (heavy traffic on Dar). I would definitely stay here again. Ask for extra towels.

    « ok for a short stay »

located close to the railway station and reasonably close to airport. rooms are adequate and clean. we did walk to downtown to see the sites without any hassles. breakfast was good, the restaurants - Mumbai Spice, served good Indian food. we did use the swimming pool and outside bar.

    « Comfortable and Cozy »

Spent 4 nights at the Colosseum. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to assist. The rooms are comfortable, although my bed had a screeching sound. Modern finishings. The restaurant offerings were limited but good nevertheless. Location is a bit out, but the amenities such as the gym and pool area make up for that.

Had been to the hotel in january, i had seen the hotel online and booked the same. The hotel is good, services are too pretty good. Being an Indian i preferred Indian food, so they have a hotel down which serves good food. Overall it was a good experience . The only thing is its bit expensive.

    « Disappointing hotel »

I have stayed at a number of Best Western hotels and this hotel is not up to standard . The staff are quite helpful but the location is poor , right on a busy road so there is always traffic noise . The area is not inviting and the front yard is shoddy . The room was ok but you had to get out of bed to turn the bedside light on or off because the controlling switch was on the floor out of reach of anyone in bed . The restaurants offered little to anyone not interested in spicy food . Checking out was a mission . I decided to check out the night before leaving as I had to leave at 5 am for the airport . It took 15 minutes because of computer/printer problems . Though conveniently close to the airport I would not stay there again .

    « Grim »

The only good thing about the hotel is that it is fairly close to downtown, though in a rundown area with nothing around it. The lobby is tiny and dark, with no place to sit. The rooms are just barely adequate. I took a look at the fitness center and it appeared reasonably acceptable. But taken as a whole, it is a depressing place to stay. Normally, if I am going to be someplace for a week or less I will just make the best of it, since moving hotels is a hassle, but I checked out of this place after one night and will never stay there again.

« Plus for convenience, minus for breakfast »

Only stayed one night and chose this hotel for convenience to airport. Apart from two small motels it's the closest one, but still a half hour ( and 40 000 tzsh) away. Had rooms facing the street, but sound insulation was good and room cool and airy. Wonderful place to rest. Breakfast was a sad story, however. When we got there ( early) it looked like everything had been sitting there since the previous day's serving. Cut up fruit and vegetables had a dry look to them and did not look very appetizing, the sliced bread in the basket by the toaster was so dry the edges curled. True, while we stood there taking all of this in, a girl came with a platter of freshly cut water melon, but the overall impression was still of something not very tempting. The croissant I had a bite of was clearly at least a day old. We tried to complain to the person in charge at the breakfast restaurant, but were met with little understanding. Judging from other reviews the low quality breakfast is a problem at this hotel. I hope they read reviews and take the complaints seriously! We left before we had a chance to try the other restaurants.

« Perfect for an airport stop over »

We needed a hotel for one night because Emirates had changed our flight schedule. This was perfect for us. Getting to and from the hotel: at the airport we went to the taxi desk, they have a set price list for all the hotels. It cost us $35 and took about 20 minutes (at about 9pm). Our taxi driver offered to pick us up the following day to take us back to the airport and we took him up on this. We left at 1:15pm and it took us maybe just over half an hour to get back as the traffic was heavier. Same price. Check in: We wanted a late check out as our flight wasn't until the afternoon the next day. With a bit of persuasion the check-in staff agreed to a 1pm check out for no extra charge (at first they were suggesting we check with them in the morning but with a bit of discussion they relented). To be honest, all of the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel room was really comfortable. We were on the fourth floor in a twin room. Beds super comfy, great air-conditioning - all the standard stuff you would expect in a mid priced chain hotel. There was a nice pool, which we used free of charge and a spa (which we didn't use as it wasn't free and wasn't in our budget). Breakfast was a buffet style with various options to suit most tastes. The locality: we didn't go out as it didn't look very appealing.

« hotel with very good Indian food »

Hi I stayed there for 8 days in Nov 2015. It is a very good hotel with all basic amenities including a gym, wifi with decent speed and small swimming pool etc. The size of the pool is very small but nevertheless one can spend quality evening time there. This hotel is located a little far from the downtown, ensuring that you don't have to struggle in down town traffic daily morning and evening but this could be equally bad for people who like to stay near city center and beaches. I stayed in a road facing room on 2nd floor but there was no disturbance from the outside traffic noise in the room. (Thanks to the sound proof windows)The best part is the Indian food which is served in 'Mumbai Spice' restaurant. Some of the dishes are tastier than what I have had here in India. All in all it was a good experience.

    « Very good Hotel »

I stayed here for 6 days and found the hotel to be very comfortable and accommodating. Both Smokin Joes Pizza and Mumbai Spices were fantastic restaurants and provided many choices for meals at fantastic prices. I will gladly stay here again and would recommend it to anyone. It is positioned in a good location close to casinos, supermarket and walking distance to several restaurants.

    « Not Ideal »

Our room reeked of smoke and we left with our lungs coughing. The air conditioner was obnoxiously loud. Between the two, we couldn't sleep a wink. Also: beware that 'sparkling water' is more expensive than a glass of wine.

    3
« Good hotel with bad location »

The hotel service and staff are good, but the food is not, it needs lots of improvement. The location is the worst, in the middle of the daily traffic. I recommend them to take more care about the cleaning of the rooms and to improve their food quality and service.

« Best place to stay for a short stopover between flights »

We came in on a late flight arriving at 3 AM and departed that same day about 10 AM for another flight to Arusha. The hotel is fairly close to the airport, about 10 minutes in no traffic and a bit longer for us with fairly light traffic on the way back to the airport. The room is clean, fairly basic but met our needs. The hotel seemed fairly empty and we did not use any of the facilities or eat there. We did arrange a driver from the hotel for the 3 AM airport transfer and that worked well, on time and quite professional. The staff we encountered were fine. This was all about us getting a few hours sleep after travelling from North America and having a shower. It met all those needs well.

    « Not bad »

Nice hotel, not luxurious, very clean. Food choices rather limited. My room was on third floor, there was a send off party on the mezzanine and I could hear the racket till 11pm. I wonder how the people on 1st and second floors coped. Windows in room do not open except for a small hatch, for someone who does not like air conditioning, this was terrible as it was very hot. If your room faces the street be ready to wake up very early to traffic

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, just 12 kms. away from the airport. Service was really great with very friendly staff from the check in, housekeeping, restaurant and to the managers of the facilities. 3 star hotel standards but a 5 star service. GM Roderick was very approachable, I get a change to meet their RM Cynthia very beautiful and friendly. Overall I recommend this hotel for those who want to save money for a short trip to Dar-es-salaam.

Very nice staff, quick check in, food is delicious and priced normally in their restaurant (for 2 we paid 20-25 dollars). Only thing I didnt like was the pool, it is very small, despite on their website it is not for swimming. Internet was fast, no issues at all. Breakfast was also nice. We were here in October, not many people in hotel - it is good if u need a little hide away.

    « STOLEN JEWELRY »

After spending 3 nights at the hotel we left the luggage in the care of the hotel while traveling to Arusha and Zanzibar to be picked up on our way back to NY. When the luggage was retrieved it SEEMED that everything was intact because the boxes containing the jewelry were still in the luggage. However, once I got home I found that those boxes were EMPTY. It seemed also that while going through the luggage they left a charger in my luggage that belonged to another member of my group.

« Amazing Staff and stay! »

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, I chose this hotel because of the good location as it is close to the airport. The traffic is terrible at times but because of where it is situated my travel time was cut short. The staff are always smiling and ready to assist. I had a relaxing massage at the spa by a lady from Indonesia, their services are a must try! I didn't use the gym which is quite big and equipped. The breakfast is basic and the food is good. Will stay here again for sure!

    « Not bad for 1 night »

Like many others, we stayed here 1 night while transiting to Arusha. It was the closet decent hotel to the airport. It met all our needs, clean, quite, and easy to get to from the airport, and back (around 30 min) with no traffic. Its a bit on the expensive side, but with no other options it was ok. I would not stay there longer then 1 night though. Breakfast was ok, although the room was very smokey i guess they have an open kitchen or bad ventilation. Did not use the pool or gym.

Nice place if you want to do business in kariako. Good ambience. Close to the airport. Rooms a bit small but comfortable. Bathrooms okish. A bit of more cleaning required. Breakfast okish. The pancakes are always burnt looking blackish dont know why. Very friendly staff. Weekends you can get a cheaper rate.

« Good for an overnight stay »

We stayed one night as a stop over on our way to Zanzibar. Staff were helpful even though at first they were unable to find our booking which delayed the check in. Room was good size and had everything you needed. There is a Indian restaurant and a pizza place that you can eat at should you wish. If you want a shuttle or taxi to airport best to arrange yourself as it will work out cheaper than the standard rate charged by the hotel.

« Very Good Business Hotel »

Good hotel, nothing fancy, but you get everything, except for ironing stands and iron. Food is very good at both the restaurants. Service is average to good. I am sure it can be improved. Will stay here again for sure.

    « Horror story! »

My colleague and I planned to stay for about ten weeks at this hotels but checked out after a week. The reasons -- 1. Rude management who refused to meet long-staying guests. 2. Cockroaches in the room. 3. A rat at the "Italian" restaurant. 4. Intermittent smell of sewage in the rooms. The only thing to recommend it is Mariam at reception, who is efficient and service-oriented. As for the rest, you'd be wise to stay away!

« Good value, great gym »

Location is great - on the road to the airport but 10/15 minutes walk into town. It has a great gym, swimming pool and bar as well as two restaurants. Rooms are clean with good firm mattresses and powerful shower. Friendly staff make this a good well-priced hotel

« Clean, basic hotel close to airport reducing traffic time!! »

The hotel is basic but clean and safe. However of most benefit is the location to the international/domestic airport. Only 7kms from the airport but due to a chaotic traffic system took us nearly 1 hour to reach the hotel. Other travellers discussed longer travel times from other hotels, although of higher standard of hotel. The staff are friendly and efficient and as we used the hotel twice also organised our taxi to/from the airport for $30 each trip. Timely, professional taxi service used. We ate in the Indian/Chinese restaurant which was good. Breakfast not as good but sufficient. On our second visit a lot of noise from corridors but would still use the again. Really important that it's understood how bad the traffic situation is!!

« As good as you could ask »

My wife as I stayed here one night transition through. For this part of the world: Room was in great condition, breakfast was perfect, service was above par, pool was average, gym was excellent. Couldn't have been more satisfied. Thank for a great stay.

« Excellent for short business trip »

This hotel is so conveniently located close to the airport and at the edge of Dar city. Rooms are modern, clean and service is good. Definetely recommend this corporate hotel and the Bali Spa is an added treat after a long day.

« Comfortable stay and only 10km from Dar airport!!! »

My family stayed at this hotel on August 24th for a couple of hours. We had a 3am flight to Washington DC so we checked out of the hotel at 1am. We had a room with a queen bed. The room was very clean. The bathroom was nice and clean as well. The hotel is only 10km from Dar airport ( the old and the international airport). It took us half an hour to get to the hotel in the evening and only 10 minutes at 1am. The hotel has a shuttle service, to and from the airport, and is $30 each way. The staff who checked us in was friendly and professional. The hotel is connected to two restaurants, Mumbai Spices and Smoking Pizza. We had dinner at Mumbai Spices and the food was ok. I suggest if you have time go to the city center which is only 10 minutes away and try some fabulous restaurants. Our favorites were Al- Qayyam and KT shop for the best chai, samosas, and kebabs. Mamboz has amazing BBQ and Chef's pride right across the street from KT has an extensive menu as well. The hotel has a gym on site as well but we did not use it as we were there for a short time. Wifi connection is excellent and free. The password is given to you upon arrival. Rooms have adapters to charge electronic devices. A comfortable stay and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
