Before I booked this trip I had never heard of Cuneo. It is a very nice little town with a huge central square and this hotel is on that square. You can park right outside and there are bars and restaurants within reasonably short walking distance. The hotel is very good although a bit of a maze. Our rooms were good, clean and comfortable and good value. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed three nights in August with our daughter , and had a super time . Cuneo is a very pleasant town . The hotel itself is quiet , very clean , extremely friendly and professional . The people there are super . I cannot praise them enough . We would go back in a flash . Breakfast , with its waffle making machine , was excellent . Tip : be there for the tuesday market . it is huge and good !
The hotel itself is pretty average in the sense of amenities, room size and overall condition but what sets this hotel apart is the incredible friendly and helpful staff. In my 20 years of worldwide travel for business and pleasure I have so far not come across this level of service! They go above and beyond and the free internet is blazing fast.
Ideally situated hotel in the old town. Many restaurants and cafes close by. Welcoming and friendly hosts - good sized clean room with balcony on a side street , overlooking the mountains and the town square.
Best Western Principe absolutely central in Cuneo is an excellent choice to discover on foot the old town. Maurizio and Irene (brother and sister managers) have a book of good reference to what-to-do, what-to-see and where-to-eat… Elisabetta, Maurizio's daughter, make sure all those services are available on request. It is a 4-stars hotel, with REAL 4-stars quality beddings and breakfast. Amongst chasing Restaurants, Trattorias, or Locandas… there are « Osterias » which both Maurizio and Irene fill away in their reference folder/book. Such as Osteria Sansa Fretta, Osteria Interno, Osteria da Christian and the latest we just sampled « Osterioa Due Grappoli ». All those are walking distance from Principe hotel. The « style » of Osteria compared to other eating places is it is run by real « creators ». Not too pricey. Absolutely tasty. There is also Oserai Da C christian. Five tables, he does everything. Booking a must of course. Maurizio, Irene and Elisabetta can supply and book for you. Cuneo is also a place where « there is always something » happening, from Illuminatta Festival, Castagna festival with nearly 200 gastronomic contributors (said to be the biggest Italain Gastronomic event), and truffles producers (black and white ruffle best prices), of which 3° from France. … and of course grilled chestnut open air in the street. Then there is « La Fausto Coppi » that drags 5000 bicycle amateurs for a 250kms stages in ¨Piedmont with 4 category 1 mountain-pass… Ànd theaters venues, and Opera venues, and other venues along the year. The Fausto Coppi starts right in front of the hotel…. truly AWESOME site. Maurizio, Irene and Elisabetta are truly "Top-Guns" in Tourism-offering... They leave no question unanswered. I forgot… they have a factory Outlet Village with hugely discounted big brand names such as Tommy Hilfiger... Go and enjoy as much s we do,,,
Absolutely loved this hotel the minute we got there. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast every morning was always a treat. Room was clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was roomy. My husband was there for work and I tagged along and fell in love with staff and Cuneo.
Romm was clear, quiet and praktice. Perfect personel - nice, helpfull and always with smile (knows french, english verry well). Place of the hotel is good (in the center) - there is silence in the room (during night/day). No WIFI :( In my room didn't work. Breakfast verry good.
Stayed here 4 nights with a Great Rail Journey's group. From the warm greeting when we arrived to the equally warm send-off we felt very much at home. We had a lovely corner room, with the unusual feature of a balcony leading off from the bathroom. The hotel could not be better placed for enjoying Cuneo. And not forgetting Boss, the dog, who had a lot of fun playing games with us whenever we waited in the lobby.
From the moment we opened the door we were recognized as guests. Nothing requested was a problem. All was possible. It was a delight to be in such a Hotel. This after 4 days on the road. Then it turns out that the room is really comfortable. The bed is perfect .and the breakfast even has the best "Waffle machine in the world" on hand . Clean.
We had to go here on business, we rode in after a long day on a motorcycle. Staff was great showed me where to store the bike (150 years ago it was probably a stable!). Room was fantastic. Chandelier, tall ceilings and a view of the largest square in Italy. Excellent breakfast selection. Access to numerous shops and restaurants .
A charming old hotel in the old part of the town but still accessible by car it offers a perfect place for visiting the old town of Cuneo. Rooms are fine, breakfast is ok but misses a bit the Italian flavor.
This very famous and well known landmark hotel, owned by the same family for years, really delivers something that tends to disappear... and we do love it. Warm welcome and really happy to see us back... as if we were family. This hotel is "cardinal" for Cuneo Illuminata and also shopping free. The reception staff know many descent and execllent good places to dine out in full "awe" for the creativity and excellence of cooks. JUST GO FOR IT.
We stayed at Hotel Principe for 2 nights after a 35 hour trip from Australia. The location and the rooms were just great, but what made the stay really special was the gracious hosts and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble and they really went out of their way to make the stay special Garry and Sue Bulgarelli
Great charismatic hotel located in cuneo direct at the piazza. Rustique pure and great couple working and welcoming you. Marvelous breakfast. Good beds, nice rooms incl. tv and Wifi. Absolute a place to recommend
This family-owned, family-run hotel has a wonderful old-fashioned charm. Everything about my room was traditional and just right, with none of the cost-saving, fake "hospitality" one often sees in modern chains. Best of all was the quiet but infinitely polite service from a gentleman who helped me park and insisted on carrying my bag, but turned out to be one of the owners! The location is also perfect.
Best position in Cuneo on the main square close to restaurants and shopping The hotel is a family run business that was established in 1955 Now the latest generations of the family run the hotel in a very professional friendly and helpful manner Car parking on site and pet friendly so useful when travelling with the family The rooms has recently been refurbished and are comfortable This is the 3rd time that we have stayed at the hotel and will definitely return We can highly recommend it If I were to make a constructive memo to the management I would suggest that the breakfast should have eggs cooked to order as my pet dislike are Luke warm stale scrambled eggs!! They could make the lounge more homely This area and the restaurant look over the main square but the windows are covered with net curtains which do nothing to enhance the general and brightness of atmosphere of the communal facilities
We stayed at this hotel for one night in October. The hotel staff was very nice and couldn't be more helpful. The room and bathroom was spotless, large and wonderful. The breakfast buffet was good and really delicious with eggs and Italian meats, breads and cheese. Don't visit the city on a Monday, as almost all stores are closed. Tuesday is a big shopping day in the middle of the square, just steps from the hotel. This was an excellent choice and chosen because of the good reviews it has received. It did not let us down. Cuneo is a lovely town with this lovely hotel in the center of it.
Warm welcome at this hotel located on the main square of Cuneo. All staff we met were friendly and helpful and took our luggage from reception to our room and reverse on the day of departure. Room pleasant overlooking a side street which was quiet so no problem sleeping on a warm night with the window open. Excellent buffet breakfast and additional requests will be considered by willing staff. Would recommend the hotel and the town itself to future visitors.
Located in an old palace on the main square this is a comfortable hotel. The position is ideal as it is at walking distance from anywhere in Cuneo. The rooms are scattered in the old building and, in spite of renovation and up keeping, are constrained by the old design. A few rooms are facing the square and have a great view, although those inside are quite. The local staff at the desk was uniformly kind, had deep local knowledge and was easy to please. The breakfast was what to expect in hotel of this chain.
We have just spent a night in Cuneo and checked out Tripadvisor as usual before booking a room at Best Western Hotel Principe. If all hotels in our budget were as good as this one we would have no further need of Tripadvisor! Situated in a perfect location, two minutes from the old town with plenty of bars and restaurants, a warm and welcoming reception by the hotel owners, a clean, well-furnished room with a large, firm and very comfortable bed, an immaculate bathroom with power shower and an excellent breakfast. We could not ask for a better night's stay and will not hesitate to book again on our next trip to the area. Perfetto! Perfetto!
Hotels are, of course, in the "hospitality business". But you can really tell the difference when the welcome is truly sincere and you are welcomed to both the city and hotel with enthusiasm and personal flair. This is a family run and presumably owned hotel. Since my Mother managed a small hotel, I understand how much hard work is involved in running such an establishment to this high standard. We are very fond of older properties that have maintained their distinct character, high standards of cleanliness and sensible updates to more modern amenities. The Principe fills the bill, with a prime location on a charming old square, impeccably maintained guest rooms, very comfortable beds and a better than most breakfast at a very modest price. It is remarkable that there is so much lighting in both the bedroom and bathroom, a place where many hotels opt for "mood lighting" The quality of the bed and bath linens are are quite appropriate for their four star government rating. Considerable sound proofing, especially in rooms towards the back, insure a restful night's sleep. The old fashioned bath tub has been modified with a shower enclose which looks like something out of an early Doctor Who episode, but keeps the water where it is supposed to be. For many of the rooms, you will have to take two elevators, but there is a direct stairwell if there were an emergency evacuation. Our room had an oversized flat screen television with several English language news channels (CNN and BBC). My only minor quibble is that I couldn't get the hotel's wi-fi to work. I'm sure if I asked,t he hotel would have come to my aid. There is a very small "Internet Point" in the lobby, which is excruciatingly slow, but afforded a chance to check for urgent e-mails. The hotel is an excellent value, conveniently located for exploring the arcaded shopping streets and the oldest part of town-where most of the atmospheric local restaurants are located. Cuneo is a charming city, and at least in late September, rather sleepy. When we return to this town, this will be our first choice of places to stay.
Perfect hotel located downtown Cuneo. Very professional and welcoming staff, easy parking, great location. Very comfortable room, extremely clean and well maintained. Ask for one with a balcony :-) Breakfast buffet is also of very high quality All in one, a truly charming 4 stars with very welcoming staff and excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
We have just returned from an excellent 2 days spent in this old fashioned but immaculate hotel. Its best points have already been mentioned- a fantastic location on a beautiful square really near the wonderful old town plus the brilliant family who run it. They are marvellous in their courtesy, advice and helpfulness and always so cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble and they are an asset to the Best Western Chain. The hotel is a little quirky and tired in places but the rooms are lovely with excellent bathrooms. There are lots of great restaurants right on the doorstep. Would definitely stay again if I was ever to return to this beautiful town. Do visit Saluzzo and Crissolo and Monte Viso in the Alps as well as the wine regions of the Langhe.
Strategically very well located hotel in Cuneo, Piedmont region, Italy. Right in th emiddle of the old part of the City and easy to get out of the town and easy to park. The rooms and the breakfast were OK, but the best part was the staff. The hotel owner (and his family) was just magnificent. Always helpful in making the reservations for the dinners (we were group of 11 people), recommendations were just amazingly good. Helping with the siteseeings etc. The warmest and most pleasent hotel owners/staff that I have encountered. This is how the hotel must be run!
Stayed again this year at Best Western Hotel Príncipe July 4th thru July 11. It was outstanding as usual. The rooms are clean and nice. The staff is outstanding and the most helpful. I always look forward to staying here!!!!
This is a lovely hotel in a really lovely city. The English speaking proprietor (and his sister) were pure Italian graciousness. The room was very pleasant, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Breakfast was served by a most charming waitress and was very good. The position of this hotel could not b better, fronting, as it does on to the huge city square of Cuneo.
The front staff were fabulous. The location is central close to center town with lots of restaurants. The breakfast is buffet style with a lots of choice cereal, eggs pastries, yogurt fresh fruits and juices. Good coffee. Store ours bikes inside garage.
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. Great location at Cuneo's central piazza. We even found a free parking space in the piazza for the night. The stuff was more than helpful: explained about the town, about the parking and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Excellent breakfast. Nice massage shower.
The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel's position on the main square is ideal for walking through the old town and visiting the many restaurants and shops as well as the huge weekly (Tuesday) market which fills the square and many side streets. Cuneo is a lovely place to relax and as a base for visits around the Le Langhe region - great food, wine and countryside - and this hotel sets the quality and feel for a great break.
The hotel is very well located. Just in front of the main square, near good shops, good restaurants. Decorated in a classic way, has huge rooms. For the confort of the guests, there are a fireplace, air conditioned, frigobar, big screen TV with many channels. Breakfast is very good. Fruits, cakes, etc. The Príncipe Hotel has a flag, but is private owned which makes the stay much more pleasant, with the chance to interact with the family who runs the business. This is the best part of everything. They are extremely nice persons, always available, helping with suggestions of places to visit. And at last, but not at least, arriving at the hotel you are welcoming by Boss, the dog. I strongly recomend!
We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Cuneo for four nights bed and breakfast. The Manager and his wife are the friendliest hoteliers I've ever come across. They wouldn't let us carry our own bags to the rooms taking them off us and leading the way to the room. The rooms are all a bit different from each other. This is an old building with a lot of history, so the building is quite quirky. Our room was furnished in an old-fashioned way but absolutely immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was modern with a shower that had a choice of shower heads and also body jets and a shoulder massaging waterfall! We had everything we needed in the room and were very comfortable. The quality of the bed was excellent. Breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice from bacon, eggs, sausages to cereals, fruits, pastries, delicious cakes, hams, cheeses - everything! The waitresses were brilliant. The only thing that disappointed us was the bar was never open, so on returning from our evening meals and wanting a G&T we had to order them by phone and sit in our room to drink them. Only a minor issue though and certainly didn't spoil our stay. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel, it feels like staying with family.
We had the good fortune to visit the hidden gem of a town, which is Cuneo and were very content with the Hotel Principe. It is clean, comfortable and located on the main square in easy reach of the main amenities and the old town situated around via Roma. It is very much a family run establishment and the owners cannot do enough to make your stay a pleasant one. We had a room at the front overlooking the square with a huge painted ceiling, it's own fireplace and an excellent stand alone shower facility. We were not disturbed by any noise and found it an excellent three to four star level of hotel. It does not have its own bar or restaurant but does serve a fine hot or cold breakfast. It is a stroll away from a large choice of excellent bars and restaurants and would appear to be the best choice in this lovely town with its wonderful cloistered shopping streets.
Old fashioned hotel with very friendly staff. Rooms are huge but a bit outdated. Furnitures could stand an actualisation. The only not so nice point was the very small shower. I am 1,89m and could hardly move in it.
Hotel is located on the main square in the center of the city. Rooms are nice, big, clean. Hotel itself is a little maze. To go from reception to my room on third floor was necessary to take two stairways and long corridor or two lifts and long corridors. View from room to backyard is not nice. The room is equipped with a coffee and tea facilities. Wifi. Air conditioning. The staff is friendly, happy to recommend nearby restaurants. Breakfast was okay. There is no restaurant in the hotel. Which is not a big problem because there are many restaurants. Unfortunately there is not even a bar. Parking during night on square in front of hotel was without problem.
We stayed here on a business trip and had a great experience. The family that runs the hotel are dedicated to providing a quality experience. They offer breakfast as well. The rooms were nice size and comfortable. The hotel is directly across the street from the Piazza, with many great food options within walking distance.
Been here many times years and years ago, on the main square in quaint Cuneo . Went back last weekend and all the same people are there and the place hasn't changed a bit. Except they have a new dog in reception. I like the authenticity of both the staff and the hotel, its old fashioned in the correct way - with all the professionalism that comes with that. Recommended.
Really excellent hotel and with especially helpful staff. They told us where to get the best pasta (for cooking at home) in town, advised on scenic routes, welcomed all our small group with enthusiasm. The hotel is on the main square, elegant arcades and a great traffic free main shopping promenade with lots of bistros/cafes/restaurants..
We just spent three nights in this hotel and it was a wonderful stay. It is a family run operation and their standard of service is very high. We were given a lot of assistance finding good restaurants, we were shown a driving route through wine country, and they were very helpful with parking arrangements so we would not be towed before the Tuesday market in front of the hotel. It was truly a pleasure to get to know the family just at the end as we were checking out, but they will always be a part of our memories of Italy, and a good reason to return to Cuneo again one day!
This was my very first time being in Italy. I stayed at this hotel recently for the Comunita Cenacolo's Festival of Life and had a GREAT experience! The location of the hotel couldn't be more perfect. Walking distance to lots of shopping and great restaurants. The breakfast every morning was very good with lots of options. From the staff at the front desk to the housekeeping team, they all were friendly, helpful and very kind! Rooms were neat, clean and ready every day when we returned. I hope to return next year for the festival and I would not want to stay anywhere else! I couldn't thank the hotel staff enough for helping make my first trip to Italy a great one!
I have stayed here twice, and it has been a lovely experience both times. Staff is super committed to their work, even when we were really late for breakfast;) Situated in the middle of Cuneo, you have easy excess to all the delicious restaurants. ( Osteria Senza Fretta highly recommend) Even though it is a chain, the hotel is family owned and run, what you experience in their every move!
I again stayed at this Hotel for Comunita Cenacolo's Festival of Life and my experience again was excellent. My room was awesome. Very clean and comfortable. The staff was outstanding and very accommodating. I love this Hotel and look forward to staying there next year.
Dears, it was a real pleasure time spent in that hotel. Huge hospitality from the staff. Amazing breakfast. Large rooms. From my point of view it would be nice to have also dinner in the hotel. Because it was not easy to find a place to have dinner close to the hotel.
