"Autumn Holiday"
Jennie L, 07 Octobre 2018

Lovely 3 night stay last week for a Highland break. We've stayed at the hotel many times and return for the good value clean rooms, nice choices on the menu and location. Staff are hard working and helpful. Most weekends there's usually entertainment too. Our room had a view of Ben Mohr.

"Fun and Easy"
David D, 04 Octobre 2018

We spent one night here and enjoyed most of the place. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, warm greeting at the desk, and windows that open! There is a large sitting room for guests as well as a small bar and restaurant. Dinner food was OK, stir fry veggies with curry and corn fed chicken breast but the beef dish was not so. A bit tough and swimming in gravy. Did order the chocolate hot pot. Thick and delicious. Service was....shaky. 4 servers with about 10 tables. Confusion and not well trained. Not sure if most were new, but could use additional training. Getting anyone's attention was a challenge. After dinner we wanted a drink from the bar to have in the sitting room. Limited selection of liqueur. And it took three people to figure how to ring-up the drinks. And did not have a pen to sign the receipt. Nice enough staff but not super organized or focused on service. Would I go back and give it a second chance? Yes and hope they read reviews and take actions to address issues.

"A very convenient and attractive Highland Hotel"
larbawn, 01 Octobre 2018

Convenient because it is at a point in the railway network to access both Oban and Mull or Fort William, Mallaig and Skye. We came on a railway focused holiday and the Hotel is not far (200 - 300 metres) from the Station. Just go downhill from the station either way and you will get there. We had a large room. Very friendly and helpful. It is used by large coach parties but they were partitioned off from us for the evening meals and gone by the time we had breakfast. There are no other food outlets we found in our three day stay so it's a good job the meals were so good. A big thanks to Mary and the staff. Breakfast scrambled eggs excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much indeed.

"clean, comfortable"
forbenjoy, 09 Septembre 2018

we stayed one night. after checking in, we went to dinner. when we returned, the room was cold, then we noticed that the window was open. when we tried to close it, it was not possible. we called the front desk, who sent up a maintenance worker, who also tried to fix it. after he left, the receptionist called, stating that it would not be possible to repair it. after my husband hung up, i called back, telling her that it was very cold in the room and she replied,"yes, i guess it is". no offer to move us to another room. after i asked her for a different room, she agreed to relocate us. she was kind enough to come up and offer to help us move our bags. it was just weird that her initial reaction was just to admit that the room would be cold, but not offer another room. maybe it was because the replacement room was considered inferior. the first room was much more modern -- better furniture and a modern bathroom. the breakfast was ordinary -- somewhat dry eggs. they had run out of several of the items on the buffet section by 8:30.

"Quick Stop-over at Crianlarich"
edwardmrobson, 07 Septembre 2018

Hotel staff were helpful and attentive - even during a busy spell in the evening. Room was comfortable and spacious. Food was great. Although the decor may not have been bang up to date it was in good order and probably suited the location. Staff

"Ok but dated"
Jenny S, 15 Août 2018

Car parking over the road and some nice features in the hotel. Wasn't overenamoured with the broth though. Salty stock flavour and barley weren't worth the £5 charge. The sandwiches were freshly made however and better quality. All the staff seemed to have English as a second language and were a little confused by the order although couldn't have been more helpful. Convenient place to stop between Loch Lomond and the Highlands if you need to break up a journey.

"Good room and service"
Paul G, 15 Août 2018

Stayed for 1 x night while doing West Highland Way. Good food and choice, both breakfast and dinner and good service throughout. Spacious room, comfy bed - everything worked. Nice staff - Reception, Dinner and breakfast - many thanks

"Not what I expected from a Best Western Hotel!"
RudiSliema2014, 13 Août 2018

The room was clean but dated ... & dark. The breakfast service was lacking in ... service! Extremely slow - but the staff were friendly enough when they got round to engaging with us. Three tables out of about 20 had people at them - they were not exactly rushed so I can't understand why they were so slow. Now, the cleanliness of the crockery DID leave a lot to be desired though!! I had to get my coffee cup changed as it had an extremely noticeable ring around the inside which either no one noticed or thought maybe I wouldn't notice ... & when we went up to get our cereal I had to sift through several bowls before I got a “clean enough” one - as did my wife also! So either they need a new dishwasher (machine!) or they need to start doing them by hand but it was not good at all!!

"Good hotel with great staff"
HungryTravellerAscot, 29 Juillet 2018

Stayed here for two nights during the WHW. Solid hotel. All the staff, without exception, were excellent. The bar and restaurant were very good. Ate in the main restaurant one night and had dinner in the lounge watching the WC football the other. Breakfast was great too. Nice little bar which is well stocked and plenty of lounge areas.

"Lovely stay"
Patti M, 24 Juillet 2018

We enjoyed our time in Crianlarich. The hotel met our needs nicely and the restaurant was good. The decor matched the setting. The ploughman's salad at lunch after a good morning's hike was welcomed and delicious.

"Decent stay but in need of renovation"
Laura M, 23 Juillet 2018

We stayed here during two nights in two rooms. One family room, which was good, and one double room. For the double room, we got the room for a disabled person with a bathroom which looked more like a cell and with no actual shower, following which the entire floor got flooded and wet after a shower. The carpet had some nasty stains as well and the toilet did not flush properly. Upon requesting to be moved to another room, we were told only a room with two single beds was available. The service by the receptionist at that time was rather poor. The entire hotel is really loud/noisy: you can hear everything everyone does next or above / under you. Decent breakfast and dinner in the separate restaurant was really good with nice service from Mary. There is no service in the hotel and the wifi is so slow one just gives up. In the hotel brochure, rafting was advertised as being possible on the nearby river and that more information could be obtained at the reception. When we inquired about rafting, we were told this is only possible if you bring all equipment yourself... this was clearly false advertising.

"Overnight getaway"
Frances C, 22 Juillet 2018

My daughter and mum and I recently stayed overnight at the Crainlarich hotel for my mums birthday. This was my second visit and looked forward to it. The room was spacious and beds really comfortable with 3 single beds. The surroundings within the hotel were atmospheric and added to the ambience of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection to choose from. Cereal, juice, toast followed by a full English or another choice from the menu. We ate out for our evening meal so can't comment on their food. One point I could point out was the shower. It was either too hot or too cold and we all found it difficult to regulate. Finally the small bar area was nice and the bar staff really friendly, as well as the reception and breakfast staff. So top marks for welcoming and pleasant manner to all staff. Overall well worth the trip and I would highly recommend a visit.

"Small and friendly"
CabbieBlog, 22 Juillet 2018

This charming hotel, located in a fairly remote region of Scotland caters for walkers, with or without dogs. A drying room for your clothes and a small, but efficient staff makes this a great spot for an overnight stay. Breakfasts are cooked to order and served by the friendly staff. Recommended.

"Very friendly and helpful staff"
davjno80, 20 Juillet 2018

Arrived early, and although couldn't get into room, we were able to leave cases, so we could go off exploring. Very pretty village and within easy reach of places of interest, which were pointed out to us at Reception. Good walks from the hotel too. Older style room, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was really good, with excellent service.

"1950s Hotel with Haggis Pizza!"
Ian R, 17 Juillet 2018

Stopped here for lunch on way up to Fort William. Deserted at lunchtime so we had excellent service from the bored waitress. Lovely place but caught in a bit of a time warp as I'm sure it won't have changed much in the last 60 odd years! As we just wanted a snack we decided to try the advertised pizzas and I made the mistake of trying the 'Highlander' - haggis, black pudding and bacon! This backfired and continued to backfire for the next 36 hours. DO NOT be tempted! (My fault I know.)

"Committed staff. OK hotel."
mmmsweeps, 14 Juillet 2018

We stayed 3 nights. The staff worked hard and were polite and helpful. The hotel itself is nice enough and mostly clean. My bed was extremely droopy, but others in my party were fine. Note to management: Consider setting the breakfast tables in the AM rather than the night before. We found dead gnats in cups and under silverware.

"Good for a couple of nights"
marg529, 11 Juillet 2018

Good size, comfortable and clean rooms. Our room was very warm during the heatwave but was provided with a small table fan. Food was good both breakfast and evening meals. Can be noisy from outside with heavy goods vehicles and trains. Some parking on the forecourt otherwise you have to park opposite the hotel.

"Tired and complacent"
misterbaldy60, 30 Juin 2018

We stayed here on the way back from the Outer Hebrides,on the way to the Midlands. This hotel would be in great difficulty if one of the budget hotel chains were to open nearby. It is the sort of hotel that would benefit from a big kick up the backside from the budget upstarts to shake it out of its complacency. Granted, it is in a lovely setting but that by itself is not enough. The rooms offered nothing that the purple branded chain does not provide other than biscuits, a telephone and in one of our rooms at least, a musty smell in the bathroom. When I say bathroom, I mean a cupboard really, with the sort of bathroom sink that your Great Aunt Agatha might have had in the 1970's. This wasn't a standard room either but one of the 'better' ones. The restaurant is a pleasant enough environment, wood panelling etc, but the food that we had was on a par with any standard pub chain. No better, no worse. What does matter though is that we paid through the nose for it all.The hotel has grand pretensions and charges accordingly but fails to deliver. By the way, watch out for the fish on the menu. In this hotel, it is one of the vegetarian options!

"Midweek journey break for coffee"
JohnHowardNorfolk, 29 Juin 2018

We needed a break on a very long drive north and this Best Western Hotel appeared outwardly at least to be a suitable drop-in for a coffee stop. Number one problem is that the car parking is on rough ground the opposite side of the main road. This is not a complaint but readers of this review need to be warned if disabled, or perhaps if it is dark as traffic passes frequently and fast so crossing could be dangerous. Second problem is where do you go when entering the door nearest the car parking? Bars right and left and no staff in sight. Eventually two ladies appeared and accepted our order for coffees. Then disappeared. Wherever did they go? After almost ten minutes I went back to the bar and called for service. The younger lady appeared and began making coffees, noisily. Then walked off with them to serve someone else. My wife wanted to leave at this point but just in time the second waitress appeared and took over coffee making, brought them to our table and gave us a bill for £4.90. She was polite when I engaged her in conversation and interested in our journey. She went away with our cash and did not return with change for many minutes. We shall not be using the Crianlarich Hotel again for a break on our journeys north. This is a shame as it is a convenient location, lovely ambience, comfortable seating all in its favour. Plus very clean toilets. It's just the lack of a welcome as we entered plus poor service that mean I rate it below average.

"Clean, Quiet and Excellent Restaurant"
Pat G, 27 Juin 2018

We stayed just one night while walking the West Highland Way. We had a great spacious room and the restaurant for dinner and the breakfast was both very good. The breakfast was included in our reservation and offered a great variety and super selection of terrific breakfast foods, both hot and cold. Our room had a comfortable bed and we got a fan to create a white noise for our preference. Just a nice place to stay.

"Excellent lunch"
William N, 24 Juin 2018

Had the good fortune to be working in Crianlarich and when it was time to go for lunch, The Crianlarich hotel was the first choice. I found the menu to be very varied and I decided on the fish and chips. The tartare sauce was tasty and seemed to be freshly made. The staff were very efficient and pleasant. Would recommend you drop in here for a good meal.

"Average stopover on the way north"
Ian S, 24 Juin 2018

Comfortable room but with quiet a bit of road noise from the major road to Perth. The main drawback to the room was the ineffectual blinds to the long summer days - blackout curtains would have been much better than waking up at 4. Good dinner but the breakfast was pretty average fayre.

"Pleasant hotel, but..."
Bass R, 04 Juin 2018

We stayed here for two nights with our travelling companions on our way to Skye and further north. The food in the restaurant was very good and our waitress, Mary, was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tired, especially the bathroom. Our biggest complaint was how hot it was in our room. It was, admittedly, unseasonably warm weather, but we couldn't get the room to a pleasant sleeping temperature and sweltered all night. We couldn't leave the windows open because of midgies. Breakfast was good without being great.

"Great escape!"
JelenaDeo, 04 Juin 2018

First of all, I would like to say massive thanks for this hotel, because it is dog friendly! This was a great chance for me to take my dog to the highlands. Room was amazing! On the day of our arrival, we been upgraded to the premium room. Was very cozy, warm. Bathroom great. Enjoyed the breakfast. Will be good that breakfast time could be extended for a little bit longer. Hotel is very close to the train station. Thank you, Will choose to stay again :) Many thanks!!

"Nice hotel with stunning views"
Domspiral C, 02 Juin 2018

We stayed for a night on two occasions as a stop-off. After a couple of initial minor issues we had a good experience. The food was very good and there are some beautiful views of Ben More from the hotel. The rooms are quite nice although a little dated but the restaurant and other public areas are tastefully decorated.

"Beautiful place"
Catherine W, 30 Mai 2018

This was the first stop in Scotland for our family after a long flight from the US. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. They had a food bar that consisted of porridge, cereals, pastries, fruit, and toast. They cooked your hot breakfast to order (small menu with several selections on it) and there was a self serve juice bar. It is a beautiful area with some walking trails so we were able to get the kids out for some exercise without over doing it. We didn't eat dinner at the restaurant. It seemed like a nice restaurant (needed reservations to be seated) and we were traveling with 2 three year olds and a ten month old baby who had been on a plane for 8 hours so we didn't think we should take a chance on them being good dining companions. Instead, we walked down the street to a pub that had very good food. I booked our rooms online during a winter special that they were running and was having a hard time getting it to go through. I emailed the hotel and they did everything they could to help me. Once the reservations went through, they emailed me to confirm that they had received them. When we arrived, they upgraded our rooms to give us a little more space for the children. Great people to work with! Also, plenty of free parking.

"Westhighland Way"
Loori69, 16 Mai 2018

Nice room, friendly staff, big variety of food for dinner, great breakfast buffet. Rooms facing the street are a bit noisy but windows close fine. Good choice to have dinner in Crianlarich. In generall nice and ok.

"Ok for a one nighter"
Michell C, 16 Mai 2018

Not a bad place for one night. Staff really helpful especially with internet as it would not work properly for me and due being in a valley can play up. Room comfortable and bathroom ok. Unfortunately dinner that night was at the pub up the road as they had problems in the kitchen so no food cooked! But everything back to normal for breakfast for hot foods the next morning!

"Slightly tired"
PeckCheck, 13 Mai 2018

Convenient stop for West Highland Way hikers, as the town is just about 0.7 miles downhill from the trail. The hotel looked nice from the outside and the restaurant had very good food, though reservations are a must as it was quite busy. The room could use a makeover, especially the bathroom. The tub/shower combo was quite messy to use and the the linoleum was bubbling up (probably due to the moisture and damage from the poorly designed shower). Room was quite spacious with comfortable bed.

"Rating is based on 1 aspect only so read review"
TGG84, 08 Mai 2018

We were checked in by a friendly staff member and allocated a nice room. We then went to the restaurant via the bar. The bar area seemed full of dogs, I'm not a disliker of dogs but not sure I want to share my hotel. Food in restaurant was lovely with good service. Breakfast over the next 2 days was excellent again with friendly staff. The 2nd night had a tribute act which we knew about and thoroughly enjoyed, shame about lack of people and some very ignorant behaviour!! Now the gripe - like the 1st night there were lots of dogs in the bar,1 being fed by its owners from their plates. This was the dog that caused me a problem - the Eastern European bar staff proceeds to fondle, rub, make a fuss of this dog and then goes straight behind the bar serving drinks and cleaning glasses - WITHOUT washing his hands. That's not anti dog, but basic hygiene. For me to return here, dogs will need to banned and staff properly trained. The rooms, food and most of the staff were great otherwise.

"Ok if your a hotel guest but not recommended if you're just popping in! "
richandel, 06 Mai 2018

We were staying in a cottage nearby so tried this place for a family meal on our first night. Wish we hadn't bothered! We walked in and waited around 5 minutes for a member of staff to acknowledge despite a few of them blanking us and walking straight passed us. I eventually managed to stop someone to ask for a table and was very abruptly asked “are you a resident?”. When I said no they continued to be abrupt and said we would have to eat in the bar if there was any space. We couldn't find any tables spare so opted for the take away Pizza which we ate back at our cottage. The Pizza was good but the reception we got in the hotel wasn't good at all, therefore we opted to not go back for the remainder of our 2 week stay.

"A LOVELY HOTEL. JUST WHAT WE NEEDED."
bevandfras, 04 Mai 2018

It's a year or more since we last visited this Hotel. Being a previous customer we'd received an email from Best Western. 3 nights for the price of 2. Great value. The Hotel hadn't changed much since our last visit. Our Room, which we'd 'upgraded', was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with views over the nearby hills and Railway Line. A comfortable King sized double bed, and bathroom with bath and shower, added to the whole package. Evening meals were served up in a lovely dining area, or in the separate Bar area, and lovely meals they were, with lots of choice on offer. (Fish options, steaks, and lovely pizzas). The breakfast was also superb, with 'table service,' and freshly cooked meals if required. All the Staff were lovely, with Paula, outstanding as she always appeared to be on hand to deal with all aspects, for Customers of the Hotel. For us the Hotel was ideally located as it is less than a mile from the West Highland Way. On the Saturday we completed the 'Section' from Crainlarich to Tyndrum. A rugged walk, but very satisfying when completed. We cheated though, in catching the Train back to Crainlarich. Only £5.60 for both of us, and more comfortable than the Walk! We enjoyed our experience so much we intend to return next year, if not before. BevandFras.

"Great value for money "
THIBlackburn, 03 Mai 2018

A good place to stop if you're in transit or walking The West Highland Way. Very friendly staff, restaurant food was very good and comfy bed! Bathroom was a little tired but would definitely recommend.

"Good, comfortable pleasant meal"
Samantha A, 16 Avril 2018

We ate here on the way to our hotel in Scotland. Stopped off for a quick bite. The service was good and the pizzas, sandwiches were very tasty! The restaurant/bar has a lovley, warm traditional scottish feel and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately we couldnt get in to the restaurant because there was a special event but would like to go back and dine there.

"Great stay"
tomandkaren2018, 13 Avril 2018

What a hotel, staff first class, so dog friendly, room excellent, nice view over the mountains. Was due to stay one night, stayed for 3. Highly recommended. We ate in the restaurant every night and a good breakfast

"Lovely hotel great location"
Elindal V V, 12 Avril 2018

The hotel was beautiful, very clean and the decor was of a high standard. Our room had a lovely view. We even had little birds nesting just outside our room, they were so sweet to watch and no noise because of the double glazing. The room itself was gorgeous, beautiful good quality furniture and not a spec of dust anywhere. The bathroom looked brand new! The staff were helpful and friendly without being over the top. Breakfast was incredible, great choice of food from bacon buns to eggs benedict, all eaten in a light conservatory. I loved to sit in the lounge area in the foyer late afternoon to have a coffee and read. Drying room available for those who love walking and need to dry walking shoes, boots & gear and well situated for touring the Trossachs.

"Best breakfast ever"
tweedtravellers, 10 Avril 2018

This is a lovely old hotel, the bed was comfortable, though the bathroom leaves a bit to be desired, could do with a tidy up. Linen was nice and towels fluffy. The receptionist was rather odd and didn't direct us to the lift with our luggage though she watched us start up the stairs as we thought the lift must have been on the first level. Breakfast was perfect, staff was very attentive and polite and the food was amazing, cooked to your liking with a lovely view outside. Would certainly return.

"Excellent location for road or rail touring. Although you might need ear plugs."
Peter D, 08 Avril 2018

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst touring the area. The hotel is perfect for catching trains on the West Highland line. You can easily connect to Glasgow, Oban, Fort William and Mallaig. I highly recommend a trip up to Mallaig and across the Glenfinnan viaduct. At the hotel our superior twin room was spacious but the beds were a bit on the small side. If your room is at the from of the building then you might need some ear plugs as traffic starts early in these parts. The bar and lounge areas are very comfortable, and a nice place to relax at the end of the day, the restaurant can get busy so be advised to book ahead. I look forward to returning.

"Good Friday visit"
andrew f, 05 Avril 2018

Stayed on good Friday , as a stop over on way to Oban.room was very nice, and staff are very friendly, had a nice wine in bar, Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent, a staff member noticed I was dairy intolerant and went and got me lactose free milk for my cereal, great hotel

"A relaxing weekend in beautdful surroundings."
Ottley, 02 Avril 2018

We spent three nights at the Crianlarich Hotel from 17th March. The drive from Glasgow Airport took about an hour and upon getting out of the suburbs the drive was through beautiful scenery. Our room was upgraded by the hotel and we had a lovely King room overlooking the front of the hotel and snow covered peaks in the surrounding area. Breakfast was an excellent affair with waiter service for tea, coffee, and the range of hot meals available. The evening meals, taken in what appeared to have originally been the great hall, were excellent too, with attentive service from the staff. Log burning fires at each end of the room added to the atmosphere. A special thank you to the receptionist, Paula, for help with places to visit and her welcome every time we entered the hotel. We shall definitely return.

"Value for Money "
1825eb, 29 Mars 2018

Friendly staff, clean and good sized rooms. If a bed and shower is all you need with decent parking to break up your journey up north or back home, this is the place to be. Breakfast is a bonus. If you're a light sleeper, please note it is next to a main road so expect some road noise through the night.

"Hygiene issues with pets"
Mrkookie, 28 Mars 2018

Generally speaking the hotel was very good, however the management should urgently review their policies regarding hygiene issues for dogs. Public health is at risk if dog owners allow pets to sit on bar and lounge chairs by owners. To make matters worse guests were drinking and eating in-the bar area where pets had previously spread their germs on to seats and tables.

"Very Handy for Skiing"
Gavin R, 20 Mars 2018

I stumbled upon this hotel though the Glen Coe Mountain Resort website and was very happy with their suggestion. The large hotel is old but been modernised fairly well. I stayed in a well appointed twin room that was of standard size but had a nice sized bathroom. 16 channels on the TV was plenty for the short amount of time actually spent in the room. The hotel itself has many traditional features and feels nice and cosy with log burners and wooden panels rooms. The menu choice was quite good and I didn't think expensive for what was served. The pizza was top choice for my daughter who thought it excellent. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice of continental of cooked foods. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, these guys make the hotel experience just that bit better. I was very happy with the location near a shop and a local pub. I also noted it was right next to the bus stop which is handy for those who don't drive but want to get to the surrounding towns. For us it was a 30 minute drive to glen coe mountain resort through lovely scenery on quiet roads so not taxing at all. Overall I'm very happy we stayed there and would so again when in the area.

"Soup and Sandwich Heaven"
IanFaeFife, 18 Mars 2018

Heading for a short holiday in Oban we were in need of lunch and came across this hotel. We chose the soup and sandwich option which was excellent. The ambiance of the hotel and dining room is very good and staff friendly and attentive. Large wood burning stove added to the pleasure on a cold February day. Highly recommended.

"2 night groupon deal "
Lauzy88, 11 Mars 2018

My husband and I are just back from a lovely relaxing two night stay at The Crianlarich hotel. We stayed here 6 years ago using a groupon voucher and decided to book again. We aren't really outdoor people like a lot of others who visit this hotel but we love the nice relaxing feel to it which is why we decided to book again. On arrival we paid extra to upgrade to a king room which meant in total our two nights b&b was £130. Great value for money for what you get. The room (205) was clean, warm and very comfortable. There is a welcome pack in your room that tells you everything you need to know about the hotel and the surroundings. There are also tea and coffee making facilities. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was lovely, very generous portions too. Breakfast was also a hit. You can eat all you want from a selection of pastries, cereals, fruit etc and there is a menu that you order from meaning all food is fresh. You will see in my photos that I got the eggs benedict and my husband got a full Scottish. We enjoyed it that much we had the same the second morning. All the staff at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much to ask. We took a drive into Oban yesterday which was lovely. It's about a 50 minute drive from the hotel but some nice shops and lovely fish and chips at the harbour. If you can be sure to grab a seat on the comfy sofas in front of the log burner - very relaxing especially whilst having a tipple or two!! Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be booking this hotel again in the future!!

"Excellent Hotel"
Fiona R, 08 Mars 2018

This hotel and its staff could not help us enough during our stay. We had our dog with us which was great given that we had to extend our stay due to adverse weather conditions. We were made to feel so relaxed and nothing was too much trouble for the staff of the Crianlarich. The food was delicious, atmosphere also. Our room was very comfortable, clean and warm. A home from home, thank you Crianlarich for your hospitality and accomodating us at such short notice when the weather deteriorated. Will we stay again? You bet!

"Lovely break."
sezmetcalfe, 07 Mars 2018

Lovely hotel very knowledgeable about the local walks and areas. Very quiet but think the snow meant lots of people cancelled. Amazing breakfast with a great range of cereals nuts and pastries. Cooked breakfast cooked to order - was lovely. Ate at hotel for two nights very good. Very pleasant staff and hotel has a warm boot room great for not having dirty boots in your room. Would Def go back

"Great Break Away"
Tony D, 06 Mars 2018

We arrived and were met by very helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were great if not exactly 5 Star but were more than sufficient. What was surprising was the food. We've stayed at the sister hotel in Inverarary and whilst the location is good the ambiance and feeling here is excellent. You could stay in 5 Star hotels and not feel at home like we did and believe me, we have stayed at some of the best. For a mid-range hotel, you will not do better. Adam Henson (Countryfile) obviously thought so too.

"Cosy stay"
happynotworking, 05 Mars 2018

Nice big room, comfortable bed ,and lovely and warm. Enjoyed both the food in the restaurant and drinks in the bar. Staff were friendly and service great. No complaints at all. Would be happy to return.

"Lovely bday break away"
Suzibeaton, 05 Mars 2018

We booked here for my bday wend as we received a special deal from BW. We had never been here but passed by. On arrival we found parking relatively easy. The hotel is set in the middle of nowhere really. There is a restaurant and shop a wee walk away. Hotel The hotel is actually quite big. They have a restaurant, separate bar and lounge area with a lovely roaring open fire, lovely big restaurant for bfast and helpful staff. Its also got easy links to Perth and Loch Lomond. While we were there a few rooms were getting renovated. There is a lift in the hotel which was good as i am on crutches. Rooms We had a lovely big room with a comfy and warm bed. There was a wardrobe and chest of drawers. A lovely hospitality tray which was replaced everyday. Our room looked out to the back of the hotel and it was a very wintry wend we spent here. Lovely hot and powerful shower and complimentary toiletries. There is a trainline near the hotel and you can hear the odd train going past but nothing that disturbed us. Restaurant As there isn't many places within walking distance we chose to stay here for dinner. On the 1st night hubby enjoyed chicken wrapped in bacon with a beer and and i had a lovely veggie pizza with a cider. We were both too stuffed to order pudding. Service was fine staff seemed nice enough. On the 2nd night hubby enjoyed a steak while i enjoyed a veggie burger with a lovely bottle of red. As weren't too stuffed we had sticky toffee pudding and a bowl of ice cream. Food was nice enough. Overall a lovely wend but not sure we would go back.

"Simply Lovely!"
Furbit, 24 Février 2018

What an amazing hotel this turned out to be. Very grateful to the staff from rescuing us from a failed attempt to get lunch down the road. They welcomed us with open arms and provided us with not drinks and respite from the bitterly cold wind. The hotel is decorated with a lovely 'Marple' feel (we mean that in a good way) very evocative of Scottish hunting lodges, One could just imaging being snowed in here and enjoying the comforts of the real fire crackling in the grate. We can't wait to return.

"Fantastic stay!"
Rhiannon D, 23 Février 2018

Great staff! Really friendly and welcoming! Very clean and comfortable! Great location to go see some amazing scenery. Dog friendly and has seating available so you can enjoy breakfast with your fur baby! Also has accessible/wheelchair friendly rooms. Just across the road next to the shop is a little walking route with a river which has amazing views. Recommend hiring a car to take advantage of visiting all the beautiful villages Loch Lomond has to offer!

"Amazing !!"
Terri W, 15 Février 2018

Genuinely had the best time at the hotel, myself and my partner came for 3 nights and couldn't have asked for better service! The staff are all wonderful and make every effort to be helpful. (Especially Katy ??) Have recommended to all our family and friends and will definitely be booking again !

"Excellent in every way"
BettyChilds, 10 Février 2018

Beautiful hotel set amongst incredible scenery. 2nd visit here and the food is just as good as I remember, fresh, tasty and piping hot. Each time I've had a spacious, clean & well decorated room. Along with the friendly staff you could never go wrong staying at this hotel.

"Skiing at glencoe"
twixbirmingham, 10 Février 2018

We stayed here for a few days while skiing at Glencoe our room was spacious and basically furnished , the hotel food was good and staff were friendly It is about half an hour away from the slopes There was not much else open in the area while we were there so we had to eat at the hotel every night

"Wee holiday break "
Lorraine M, 08 Février 2018

The minute you walk in to reception you receive a very warm welcome, all the staff are so happy and friendly which makes a difference, our room was beautiful, warm and clean with soft bedding, beautiful views from our window every morning. The breakfast was amazing, plenty choices from both continental and cooked. Can't thank everyone enough in this fantastic hotel and can't wait to return very soon again , would highly recommend, excellent.

"Great family occasion "
MarkAndMorag, 05 Février 2018

Had no input in choosing this hotel as it was booked as part of a small 4 x room family group however completely chuffed with our stay. The hotel is bang in the middle of Crianlarich right by the railway viaduct & station with beautiful surrounding hills. Wonderful food at night time and piping hot cooked-to-order breakfast (much better than the tepid buffet style stuff you get at supposedly upmarket establishments). Staff were fantastic and always helpful and pleasant. Nothing too much trouble. Cheers guys. Brought our wee dog too - plenty of walks nearby.

"Super service, not so super room"
bryonycoram, 04 Février 2018

Where to start, firstly would definitely stay here again, but not in the room we stayed in this time. We did not complain as we had ‘a reduced rate', however on arrival in our room it had an odour of wet dog, you could dodge between the drops from the shower, by far the worst shower I've ever had, a rail track ran right behind the room which luckily only woke me once, the bed was lumpy & the net curtain were about 6” short in each side with the curtains also gaping at the side. Now, on the up side the rooms were clean (other than the dog smell), decent size wardrobe, pleasant shampoo & moisturiser & although compact organised well. The bar & dining room were nicely decorated a beautiful roaring log burner made it warm, cosy & welcoming. Waited to write about the best element last. The staff were very welcoming, friendly & very efficient! I suppose this is the reason that I stated we would return.

"LOVELY HOTEL WITH AMAZING STAFF."
LimboAlpini, 04 Février 2018

We stayed at the Crianlarich Hotel on a really reasonably priced deal. Must say it completely exceeded our expectations. The hotel itself is a lovely well thought out mixture of old and new, and is extremely comfortable and welcoming. What really makes the hotel special though is the staff. On arrival, Danni made us so welcome and over the course of our two days there, happily shared her knowledge of the area, and offered her advice on walks we might like. We chose to have breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food was lovely and there was a great selection. Katy was our waitress and she was just amazing. Constantly smiling and asking about our day and whether we were happy with the food. This morning at breakfast she actually skipped between the tables, chatting with everyone and ensuring everyone was happy. Megan also served us a couple of times, and she also was so friendly and helpful. Julian the barman just appears to be able to be everywhere at once. No matter how busy, we never had to wait for drinks, and as soon as a glass was empty, he was there asking if there was anything we needed. Between all this, he constantly ensures there are enough logs on the open fire to keep everyone cosy. Vicki, the Manager, doesn't walk around overseeing everything, she happily joins in, and she also served us. They make a great Team, and are a real compliment to the hotel. We would love to return for another stay at this lovely welcoming hotel in such a beautiful area, Must also mention, so pleased to say the hotel welcomes dogs, and whilst we were there, we met some lovely canine guests whose owners confirmed the staff made the dogs as welcome as their owners

"Very comfortable and warm hotel"
Jaypix, 01 Février 2018

We stayed here for one night to break our journey to the Isle of Skye. We found it a very comfortable and warm hotel, especially so as there was deep snow outside! We had a twin ensuite room which was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and were very happy with the food and service. We enjoyed relaxing afterwards in the snug attached to the lounge area where we had coffee and read. A full Scottish breakfast was served in the breakfast room (conservatory) which was very good. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would definitely use the hotel again when travelling north.

"Ideal touring base"
Mum04101929, 30 Janvier 2018

Fabulous hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent food. Delicious breakfast. Good sized room and lovely comfortable bed. We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate burns night with four other friends. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and made our stay most enjoyable

"Last minute stay on snowy night"
Kay W, 26 Janvier 2018

My husband and son stayed one night as were going skiing.Staff were lovely.Husbands phone no reception so member of staff allowed him to speak to me on phone. As leaving early for ski lesson packed lunch made instead of breakfast

"Lovely friendly hotel"
alan b, 26 Janvier 2018

Had a 3 night stay ( groupon), and have to say, it was first class from start to finish. I have now stayed at 2 Best Western hotels recently, and both have been great. Regards the Crianlarich hotel, it was great to stay in a dog friendly hotel, where the staff made us feel so welcome. The hotel itself was clean and tidy, warm, and served great food in which the prices were reasonable. The room we had ( 225) had great views, and for the price we paid, it was such a good ' budget break '. Well done the Crianlarich hotel !!!

"Great time at Crianlarich"
KM2201, 21 Janvier 2018

Reception - Danni was lovely and couldnt do enough for us! She gave us a nice welcome and was always asking if everything was ok for us. Room - Our room was a redecorated one, lovely bathroom and comfy bed. Great views from window (room 214) Food - Arrived on a freezing cold, snowy Friday Night at 8.15pm so decided a pizza was on the cards, it was very good. Breakfast was really good too, I had the full breakfast on the Saturday and the eggs benedict on the Sunday. Dinner at the Murder Mystery was lovely. Entertainment - Murder Mystery Night on the Saturday - very enjoyable. Was good to get involved with other people at our table. Only negative comment I would say would be that there could have been a disco or music after the murder mystery as it finished about 10 and there was nothing else to do. Hotel - The hotel is beautiful and spotless clean. The staff are fantastic, everyone chatted and had a smile. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people who want a quiet break away from it all.

"Highland Haven."
erskine129, 21 Janvier 2018

My wife and I went here on a Groupon (3days B/B for £105. £20 extra for Friday/Saturday. When we arrived on Friday 12th January we were most impressed by the standard of the hotel. It has been refurbished recently and it shows. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice such as cereal, porridge ,juices, yoghurts, and either a full Scottish breakfast. Eggs Benedict were also available at no extra cost. The rooms were exceptionally clean & spacious with Egyptian cotton bedding and towels. It is also close to the railway station which is convenient for both Oban & Mallaig which we visited on Sunday/Saturday respectively . Thoroughly recommend and will certainly return in the near future

"Enforced stop over due to snow"
Bryon_Gibson, 17 Janvier 2018

After driving around 100 miles in the snow I decided to stop here instead of trying to kill myself on the road. Was able to get a room suitable for someone with mobility issues straight away, excellent room, friendly helpful staff. Room had all the facilities you would need, wifi was a bit erratic but did work We had evening meal here which was again excellent with good portion sizes and quite a large menu available. A breakfast is served in the conservatory and again has a fair range to suit most people including a vegetarian option. While this wasn't a planned visit I am certainly glad I chose here to stop - would I stay here again? most certainly

"Great overnight stay, excellent food, wonderful friendly staff"
Graham C, 15 Janvier 2018

Had an overnight business stay in this lovely hotel. Great for a scenic stop over as part of any tour of Scotland. Rooms clean and comfortable. Restaurant is excellent with locally sourced produce where possible. The decor is that of a hunting lodge (wood panelled with Fishing/Shooting items on the walls. Breakfast is served in the conservatory restaurant. Staff were excellent, nothing was a bother. Dog friendly with meals served in the bar area for those with your 4 legged friend. After this business stay, I plan to be back with my 4 legged friend. Well recommended.

"A pleasant step back in time"
Greglena, 13 Janvier 2018

I felt like I was taking a pleasant step back in time: a wood paneled lounge, a library, a dining area adorned with stuffed animals, fly rods, and ocean going vessels. The evening dining room is decorated with animal heads around the room, as well as fly fishing equipment. After dinner my wife and I retired to the wood-paneled library and read a few Sunday papers. There's also a nice lounge area to hang out and talk. The next morning I went out for a quick run on the local trails. Scotland has a reputation for rainy weather, but it was only misting and I found the run refreshing. It should be noted that the hotel has a large drying closet for handling soggy shoes and jackets. The rooms themselves are rather basic. I would consider the room itself at the quality of a budget room in the US. Overall though, I was happy. The decor of the hotel common area made for a unique experience that I can't get a lot of places in the US.

"Hogmanay Fling"
Kandersteg, 05 Janvier 2018

Warm welcoming 4 days at Hogmanay in a well appointed hotel with great staff and dining. The Hogmanay Ceilidh was a blast and dancing, drinking and singing galore. Considerate late breakfast on New Years day lol. Weather was bleak and snowy but surrounded by mountains and good company was ideal for the occasion. Thanks to Kenny and his team for a great stay.

"Hogmmany"
Dorothy C, 03 Janvier 2018

Just spent three nights at this hotel over Hogmmany. They Ceilidh was great and so was the company. The hotel newly decorated rooms are very clean and spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.

"New Year Break"
ann008, 02 Janvier 2018

As a couple, we visited for 3 nights from 30th Dec to 2nd Jan. There is plenty of free parking available directly outside the hotel & immediately opposite. The decor is very traditional & has a cosy feel. We had arrived before the 3pm check in, but were able to leave our suitcase in a storage area until our room was available. The downstairs area is very spacious, considering the hotel only has 36 rooms, with plenty of seating areas in both reception & the bar. The lounge has a wood burning stove & comfortable sofas. There was also a separate room with more seating & books available to borrow. Drinks in the bar were a wee bit pricey. Our double room was a good size, with a seating area (kettle, tea, coffee & biscuits .. ask at reception if you need more - they're more than happy to give you extra) & an alcove with plenty space for hanging clothes & storing our case. The bathroom had a bath with overhead shower and, although quite outdated, was adequate for our needs. The room was lovely & warm, and there was a thermostat on the wall to control the heat. There is free wifi in the hotel, but this was very hit & miss. Much better reception downstairs than in the bedroom. We were booked on a bed & breakfast basis (was an extra £400 for the full new year package. Yes, dinner, afternoon tea & ceilidhs are included, but still a considered purchase). The breakfast was fantastic & definitely up there with the best we've had in a hotel. Plenty choice of cereals, juices, porridge, yogurts etc, then a good choice of hot food, including bacon/sausage on rolls. We had the full Scottish breakfast each day & it was delicious. Good portions of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, potato scone, beans, tomatoes, egg, haggis & black pudding. Very filling & piping hot. The haggis was especially good .. very spicy. We had dinner at the only other pub in Crianlarich (The Rod & Reel). Only a few minutes walk & very welcoming. Our main courses were under £10 each. Huge portions & very good. There is also a small shop in the village which stocks everything you could possibly need. The hotel was very clean, cosy & welcoming. A mention to all the staff who were all very friendly & helpful, especially on reception & in the breakfast area. Nothing was too much trouble, and they always had a smile on their face. Crianlarich is obviously a small village, but this hotel is perfect for a quiet, relaxing break away from it all. Would definitely recommend & would return.

"TWIXMAS BREAK SUPER TIME"
Lisbeth S, 31 Décembre 2017

Lovely hotel, we had a hiccup with our room which was immediately sorted we were moved to a larger room which was perfect for our needs, just want to make a special mention to the young lady on reception who moved our luggage for us very many thanks. In fact all the staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of Julian the bartender who we felt was having bad day. The food was lovely and the Breakfasts excellent, would definitely stay again.

"Weekend break"
Z3722ZQpeterw, 17 Décembre 2017

Most comfortable- once we worked out how to reduce the room temperature! Good restaurant with good vegetarian options and amazing breakfasts!! A good base for local exploration. Will definitely return

"Great hotel A**"
Jason C, 16 Décembre 2017

We stayed to break up the journey to Fort William. We were very glad we stayed here. The staff were lovely, dinner and breakfast was great. They made us feel very welcome and we would definitely stay here again.

"Comfortable and excellent value"
Riggies, 08 Décembre 2017

We were there in early December. Amazing value (probably because of the time of the year). Our original room was basic but comfortable, but the hot water in that particular block stopped working, as a result of refurbishment work, so we were immediately moved to a much bigger (and still very comfortable) room. Everything was spotless. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, seemed genuinely interested in our adventures for the day. The hotel caters for those who, like us, are there for the outdoors - there's a brilliant and secure drying room, so our soaking wet gear was ready to use next day. Food is good, hearty breakfasts and tasty, reasonably priced dishes for dinner. Service was brilliant. All in all, a really comfortable, good value experience and we hope to go back.

"Fabulous hotel"
Schafer2016, 06 Décembre 2017

What a great little hotel with very friendly staff. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable, usually I find the bathrooms let the deal down but not on this occasion. The bathroom was roomy, modern and the towels were soft which makes a change to some places. Some of the rooms are being refurbished so they might be even better than mine. The hotel is very dog friendly too and you can even get an extra sausage at breakfast for the 4 legged one. Talking which the breakfasts are hot tasty and filling and there is plenty of selection and a never ending supply of coffee. I didn't dine in the restaurant as I had the dog but there is a nice bar area to eat in and if your lucky you can get a seat in front of the log burner. The evening meals and pizza's they do are fresh, substantial and tasty, it would be nice to see a few extra choices on the menu. This hotel is a great base to tour the highlands with the west highland way and railway station on your doorstep. I thoroughly recommend it and the room rates are good value too.

"Brilliant Staff and Great Hotel"
Lisa G, 03 Décembre 2017

Lovely hotel, very comfortable. The rooms were large and very clean. The restaurant had fabulous food, so much so that we ate there every night. The breakfasts were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble to ask for. The staff were all brilliant and really made our staff perfect. Can not commend the staff enough.

"Birthday Tour"
Graham J, 29 Novembre 2017

We came up for my birthday on a Groupon deal for 3 nights at £50 per night and also went for room upgrade to Premier for an extra £15 per night. Well worth it. The room was of good size, Bathroom compared to other BW's a little on the small side. Also furniture a bit dated could be more modernised. The views are quite good from rooms at the front. The hotel is at the top end of Loch Lomond, so great to drive alongside the lake on the way up. It is also in a good position to drive to the following places which are all roughly just over 50 miles away. Oban/Stirling/Fort William and Perth. The drives scenery is stunning especially back from Fort William over Glen Coe. The village is rather small and nothing to do at night, but however we were pleasantly surprised with the standard of food in the restaurant it was excellent, so eating the three nights was fine.

"Family meal"
LauraD2b, 29 Novembre 2017

We went as a treat from my In-laws for my birthday, it was my first time visiting despite driving by frequently when going to visit family. It was very quiet inside when we first went in and gradually more people began to come in. I wasn't too hungry so just got soup and a pudding but the rest of the party I was with all got main courses which looked delicious. The staff were very nice and the prices were very reasonable considering the could take advantage of the location and raise them significantly if they wanted too. I would definitely return as i really enjoyed my meal as did everyone else I was with.

"Celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary "
Allen S, 25 Novembre 2017

Just back from a 2 day break celebrating our 4rh Wedding Anniversary. Hotel atmosphere very welcoming and warmly with the fireplaces. Rooms large and clean. Reception staff nice. Room wasn't ready on arrival and had drinks in the bar, girl on the bar was lovely and bubblly. Restaurant very nice and compliments to the chef. Beautiful meals. Breakfast staff and breakfast lovely. Lift out for most of the day on Friday. Fixed saturday and within hours back out of order. Wife badly hurt. Email going GM with a complaint. Supervisor came up to us very concerned but wife continued the rest of the day with painkillers. Overall great views of outside and local areas to visit. Snow fell 2 days sone nice pics. We would consider coming back. Lovely hotel.

"Gluten free! "
Jemmaf16, 25 Novembre 2017

I booked to stay at the BW Crianlarich with my dad as part our a hillwalking trip. The price for the night was very good and the hotel itself was very modern and clean. Newly renovated. The room was lovely and warm and bathroom was very modern. We had dinner in the restaurant at night and they had lots of gluten free options including gluten free pizza! It was very nice. They also catered well for gluten free in the morning breakfast including gf cereal. Overall a great place to stay with friendly staff. Only issue was WiFi was not working on my phone.

"Groupon voucher"
Barry M, 21 Novembre 2017

Me & the other half went up to Crianlarich for the night & stayed here using a Groupon voucher which cost £50 for the night with breakfast. We stayed on a Friday which has a £10 supplement (Saturday also) room was nice & no problems. Breakfast was also nice. Would recommend ??

"Short Break."
Nerys G, 15 Novembre 2017

Just arrived back from staying @ this hotel, it was amazing we had a lovely clean huge room with a comfortable double bed, with complimentary kettle with tea,& coffee facilities & biscuits which are stocked up daily. Pamela the waitress gave us extra milk to take up to our room a lovely young lady. The food was excellent but not enough choices on the menu maybe a tweak in the list would be good, they also serve Pizza either to eat in or take away. All the staff we met were amazing & we were well looked after. Car park is limited on site but ample spaces across the road. Beautiful scenic views with bus & train station nearby, plus a shop further down the road. Met some lovely other guests also 2 locals Linda & Nigel, which made our stay more welcome. We will be back.

"A surprisingly good hotel."
Barbara Y, 15 Novembre 2017

I stayed here 1 night on my road north. The room was a "single" but in fact it had a double bed. The meal in the bar was good - the menu full of Scottish favourites and well cooked. Service was also good and the staff in all areas were very helpful and friendly. My only complaint was that the soundproofing could have been better

"Lovely hotel"
Sharon B, 13 Novembre 2017

This is our second visit to the Crianlarich and staying for three nights we were not disappointed. Our double room was perfectly adequate and although it was facing the road there was very little traffic noise. The bathroom had been recently renovated and a good size. The breakfast was plentiful and there was a choice of cooked breakfasts as well as cereals, fruit and pastries. We did eat in the hotel restaurant one night and the food was nice but the portion sizes quite small. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

"Lovely Lunch"
Connie C, 08 Novembre 2017

We went here for lunch and it was lovely. Nice large dining room with large wood burning fires at both ends. The food was delicious, arrived quickly and was perfectly cooked, service was really good, nice and friendly. We only went into the dining room but a glance into the pub area looks good. Planning to go back again so will be able to update review.

"Crianlaroch hotel "
Keith L, 08 Novembre 2017

Got a deal which was 2 nights dinner and breakfast. The dinners we had were excellent. Staff were attentive and friendly lovely dining room with log burner. .Countryside majestic. We will book again soon Good value for money.

"Comfortable Hotel in Crianlarich"
Steve A, 06 Novembre 2017

We needed a stopover on the way back from Skye and we got a room with disabled access (broken leg) for us and our dog. Room was spacious and comfortable and a very good rate. Food was good, especially breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly.

"Nice and cosy hotel and resaurant"
Andi_MUC1974, 06 Novembre 2017

On a autumn road trip trough the southern highlands ther aren't many possibilities in the area. But the Crianlarich Hotel i a very nice choice. The rooms are small, but functionable, the full scottish breakfast leaves no-one hungry for the day. Due to the "limited" offer in Crianlarich we spent also the evening in the adjacent restaurant, which was also very nice and tasteful, with very friendly staff.

"Well-managed hotel combining traditional service with contemporary cuisine."
Roderiguez4, 06 Novembre 2017

Highly impressed by the 'can do' attitude of this well-run hotel. Despite being fully booked the management went out of its way to squeeze us in for a first class Scottish breakfast, with all the trimmings. We subsequently returned for a delicious dinner. The staff are cheerful, efficient and well-briefed. The impression is of a Highland hotel at the heart of its community, combining traditional service with contemporary cuisine and providing welcome value for money.

"Comfortable and Welcoming"
brancepeth, 02 Novembre 2017

From the moment we arrived till the time we left every single member of staff was really very helpful..in particular those on the reception desk, the breakfast service and the waitress taking food orders in the bar on the evening! We were in fact made to feel very welcome indeed. Our room was very warm, cosy and well-appointed. Breakfast was excellent, fresh and beautifully cooked with lots of choice. My wife and I will definitely be returning sometime soon!

"Murder, Mystery weekend"
Neil C, 01 Novembre 2017

Visited the Crianlarich hotel for one of their Murder Mystery nights. Stayed on the Friday and Saturday and this is a fantastic offer on at the hotel. The rooms were perfect size and lovely and clean. Breakfast was lovely and we also had dinner at the hotel on both nights and was superb. Only 45 minutes from Oban where we went on the Saturday for a visit and Stirling and Glasgow are also within easy driving distance. Would recommend this hotel and have a go at the Murder Mystery, as it was a great nights entertainment by the Complete Mystery Theatre Company, you won't be disappointed.

"Nothing too much trouble"
jslooey, 31 Octobre 2017

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions, usually taking advantage of the groupon deals. The hotel is warm and inviting, the staff friendly are professional, nothing is too much trouble. Dog friendly too which is an added bonus! On one occasion there was a need to change the room we were allocated, however this grievance was dealt with respectfully and staff even helped to move our belongings. Love visiting Scotland in the quieter months and this is an ideal, friendly location to stay.

"Convenient but not brilliant ..."
Rustyplough, 30 Octobre 2017

A convenient stop on way to Highlands and Islands but a tired hotel with dellusions of grandeur. I suspect it makes its living from coach parties. One of the most annoying practices is the demand that you pay for your room on registration, ie in advance, and then pay for meals etc seperately. What is that all about - have only experienced that in cheaper US motels. Makes you feel they don't trust you. I've been a Best Western Loyalty Customer for years so they know where I live! Rooms in the "extension" were large but in poor repair. Heating could only be controlled by turning off regulator valves on radiators and the bathroom had a cheap, second hand looking, hardboardy door fitted with a kitchen cabinet magnetic catch which wasn't strong enough to hold the door closed. Totally unacceptable. Dinner was mediocre but breakfast was good. I suggest Best Western look at the franchise again!

"Crianlaroch hotel"

"Friendly, family run and always made welcome"
Giraffe24, 26 Octobre 2017

Stayed here countless times for weekends usually training on the WHW, always made to feel welcome and now recognised as we walk in we've been so often! Food is always good - don't know where the other reviews are coming from. Stayed one time and a minor complaint about not enough hot water was met with a very unexpected but very much appreciated response. Couldn't have been more apologetic, I felt bad for raising it! Took my parents there last weekend for a night away and they loved it too. Have also stayed for New Years Eve a couple of years ago and had a great time. Cosy sofa in front of a real fire in the winter is lovely. Rooms are being upgraded which is great, but the main areas downstair are so comfortable you hardly want to be in the room. Nice little whisky bar too :) This is a review based on many, many stays at this hotel over the last four years or so - we will continue to go back.

"Appalling service "
Christine M, 24 Octobre 2017

Stopped here for a meal on Sunday evening. I ordered steak pie , which stated on the menu that it was served with chips or mash . I clearly requested chips. When my meal arrived it was with mash and when I stated this the waiter shrugged and mumbled sorry. My partner had roast beef and both meals were at best mediocre, but we ate them because we were hungry. At no point throughout our meal did any member of staff come and ask if we needed anything. We waited for a while after we finished before I eventually caught someone's attention. I got the distinct impression that I should not have dared to point out their mistake. Needless to say we did not order dessert and will definitely not be back.

"Surprisingly excellent!"
Bellamax2, 24 Octobre 2017

We chose a family room at this hotel as a stop over on our way to Isle of Skye and to be honest we did not expect too much. However we were more than pleasantly surprised with all aspects of our stay. We had booked directly with the hotel and a last minute change was efficiently handled by Lyndsay on Reception who was also the person who then gave us and our dog a friendly welcome on arrival. Our room was absolutely excellent - spotless, spacious and comfortable. The hotel dining room is quite majestic and more like a Scottish Mansion with stags' heads and so on. There was a good choice of real ale on draught and the food was very good indeed. Breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel in a long time - really 5 star in our view. All staff we met were really friendly and helpful. Crianlarich has always been at a cross roads of North/South and East/West routes - two railways used to cross here with 22 trains stopping every day! Now the station handles just the West Highland line. So, this hotel is perfect for a one-night stop over but is worthy of a longer stay.

"don't use it if your with a coach trip choose another tour"
ge0ffgardner, 23 Octobre 2017

Good room. Good breakfast. Most probably the worst four nights of evening dining I've ever experienced. I guess the good revues came fro private or company guests. You want cold lumpy mash, cold lasagne one cup of coffee to end the meal. Stay there with a coach party. You want a water biscuit and a Ritz type cracker with chutney served with two pieces of cheese. They called that a cheese board. The Scottish restaurants I ate in were great the people so friendly. This place is an insult to the locality. No more coach trips no more Scottish hotels.

"A good all rounder"
1965SueBP, 20 Octobre 2017

We stayed here for one night as we were having a quick, mid week break. I chose this Hotel because of it's location and because of the fantastic price. £59.00 for 2 for a night, this included Breakfast. The room that was available was a twin, the beds were so comfortable and we had a good night sleep. We faced the road but it wasnt too noisy. Excellent facilities in the room, Tea/Coffee etc, the only downside was the WiFi, very slow! The breakfast was exceptional, Full Scottish which included Haggis, tasted a bit like Black Pudding and a full range of cereal, pastries, juices and fruit/yogurt. The views are also amazing, as were the staff, lovely people, so friendly. Highly recommended.

"Weekend stormer"
keithbridge42, 16 Octobre 2017

Great hotel. All very good meals, staff, room, ambience. We had a car club weekend, taking over the whole hotel (36 rooms). Everything seemed to go like clockwork, we organised our own evening entertainments. Food was very tasty, with an evening choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 sweets. Breakfasts were also fine, with a good choice. Our room was fine, bearing in mind that this is a 3star hotel. We didn't expect 5 star luxury, but everything was clean and tidy. Mid October, the only negative was the weather! But it is the Highlands! Wi-fi wasn't good in our room, at the end of a corridor, but all together, a fine stay in a fine location. 3 nights for the price of 2 when we were there.

"Enjoyable Stay With A Few Caveats"
Steve T, 10 Octobre 2017

We stayed for 3 nights in early October. The room was large and comfortable, but was a little tired. The communal areas downstairs and the bars were very smart and comfortable, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast staff. The hotel is very well situated. We thought the room was a bit too hot no matter what we did. Another irritation was that we couldn't get any wifi signal in the room and had to go downstairs to connect. We enjoyed the breakfasts every day and the breakfast room was very nice. We only ate in one night. The meal wasn't great to be fair and the service was a bit odd. Overall the hotel is pretty good, it's clean and comfortable, but the guest rooms could do with some updating. There's very little wrong really and it's a handy place to stay in a stunning area.

"Dreadful restaurant"
terod7, 07 Octobre 2017

The bright neon sign announcing PIZZA was enough to entice my wife and I into this hotel one rainy evening. We were en-route to the coast and as it was dinner time, we were looking forward to a good meal. Well, be warned. This is no Italian eatery, or any other worth your time and money. My wife's soup arrived ice cold. Mine was luke warm. The waitress apologised, and took it back. 15 minutes went by and it finally reappeared, barely hot enough, but by then we didn't have the energy to send it back again. I had suffered through mine, as it was so salty it pickled the palate. We bravely persevered, hoping that the 2 pizzas we ordered would make up for the disastrous first course. The service was extremely slow, although this was clearly not the waitress' fault as she seemed to be almost the only one on duty and was stressed by the many diners also demanding her attention. She finally presented 2 pizzas with some of the worst topppings we have yet had the misfortune to taste. The base was clearly a thick piece of 'cardboard' that had been frozen and quickly re-heated. The toppings were a mixture of haggis, cheese, and tomato, all thrown together in an untidy heap and microwaved. I jawed my way through a quarter of it and, despite being hungry, gave up. Oh well, at least the water was cold. Weary travelers, don't be beguiled by the cheery sign, just keep driving.

"Overnight stay"
Josie R, 06 Octobre 2017

We are 2 retired couples who stayed overnight on our way from Worcester to Applecross. Everything about our break was very good. Our evening meal was greatly enjoyed by all, good food served in a very timely manner. The Staff were friendly and efficient and we will definitely be back.

"Very good service"
davidjN7582TR, 06 Octobre 2017

We stayed for three nights with our dog we found the hotel clean and comfortable very good food with excellent service. the bedroom was warm and the bed comfy,Brilliant breakfast with no complaints would certainly recommend

"Good spot for one night or as a touring base."
LNRBucks, 04 Octobre 2017

On a main road junction and by railway bridge but not excessively noisy. Near station and bus stop. Train travellers note - long uphill back to station! I used the bus to Fort William rather than pull a bag up the hill back to the station - no taxis. Good parking available. Hotel clean and well maintained. Comfortable room with good bed. No reception for mobile phones - at least not mine! Resataurant well above average for a hotel - good menu and well prepared food.

""Good Customer Service""
DebsInk, 03 Octobre 2017

One night stay over when touring around the West Coast of Scotland, lovely setting, nice ambience & good customer service. We ate in the lovely dining room, I was surprised to see the waiter taking off the table clothes after evening meal for lunch during the day I would say keep them off for dinner as the tables were really nice & gives a lovely rustic feel. The only criticism was my steak was a bit fatty but everything else was great, the waiter was very friendly & funny his humour was a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely freshly cooked to perfection, two of our group had eggs benedict one with bacon & one with salmon, I had boiled eggs & my husband had full English. It was very nice that the breakfast was served in the conservatory a separate room from the evening meal. The bedrooms are nicely decorated, clean & a very good nights sleep

"overnight stay when travelling from Skye to Glasgow airport"
Janet B, 28 Septembre 2017

We have stayed here before. The hotel is very good and we would normally give a higher rating for the facilities. On this stay, the temperature of our shower could not be turned down. The water was extremely hot. We reported this to reception when paying and leaving. Although apologetic and assurance was given that this would be sorted out, we were not offered any reduction in the cost of our room. We didn't pursue the matter.

"Fantastic two night stay"
RebRen1988, 26 Septembre 2017

Stayed here for two nights in September with my boyfriend and dog. The hotel was great, very clean, welcoming, spacious and traditionally Scottish. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfy, the shower had great water pressure and corridors were quiet. Dinner in the bar on both nights was great and breakfast was fantastic. Could not have asked for better. The hotel staff topped off a very good stay. All staff were very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very accommodating regarding our dog and made us feel most welcome. Will definitely recommend this hotel and return!

"Great location, great service"
Caninecaper, 18 Septembre 2017

Situated in a great location for travelling the local area. Railway Station in the village was also useful for a day trip to Oban. The receptionists were so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was spacious with everything you needed. We were very well taken care of by Scott and Pamela in the restaurant, with a great choice on the menu. Very popular with walkers and dogs are welcome. Great hotel and would highly recommend.

"brilliant location,shame about the accomodation"
sphinx304, 16 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst touring, and it was a convenient location. the public rooms were traditional and comfortable, and the staff friendly and pleasant. The restaurant was ok although my meal was very bland. breakfast good and very fast. upon first sight our room was slightly unusual, no wardrobe, little in the way of storage and surfaces. when I entered the bathroom I realised that it was a disabled wet room. I asked the receptionist if the hotel was full in case that was why we had a disabled room, and she answered that work was going on to kitchens and that was all available. it was probably the noisiest and most impractical room we have ever stayed in, and we stay in lots of different hotels with different rates. there was a noisy ramp in the corridor, and every sound in the room above could be heard, the shower, the fan and the pump, and the continuous loud creak of the floor. there was a gap between 1am and 6.30 am,when the creaking stopped! also, there was only a blind at the window, which allowed the light in either side from the street light and public toilet light opposite the hotel. next morning we used the shower which was an experience.although we had short showers the bathroom was soaked right across the room, and the water did not drain away. the floor was also very slippery and dangerous.

"Great choice while travelling the Highlands"
Nick F, 15 Septembre 2017

My wife and I chose to stay a night here while on our honeymoon through the Highlands. We were not disappointed. The room was comfortable and clean and the Inn itself very charming. The staff was great and the food we had at the Inn was delicious. We were even given our deserts on the house when they found out we were on our honeymoon. The town is small but great for an after dinner walk. The history of the Inn was also very interesting. I would love to come back again someday.

"Lovely staff but room was dated"
Michelle B, 12 Septembre 2017

We paid over our usual budget to stay here on a recent trip and were therefore really disappointed with our room. Our room wasn't serviced one day so on our return we had no complimentary drinks and had to go to reception to ask for some. Also, had a bad experience on our last night with extremely noisy neighbours. Having said all that, the staff were lovely, the food was good and the location was beautiful. Would we return? Possibly not.

"Hidden Gem"
Stephen B, 11 Septembre 2017

This is a great wee hotel and I would highly recommend it. From the minute we set foot in it the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. They couldn't do enough for us and the food is superb. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Paula and her team and they always had a smile which put you at ease. Crianlarich is a great base to walk, cycle, climb mountains etc and this hotel is an ideal place to stay. Yes maybe the decor is a bit dated but I think that just adds to the charm of the place. Hotels are more than paint and wallpaper and it's the people, their manner and positive experience that matters. I would highly recommend it.

"Stopover"
Dave P, 10 Septembre 2017

We stopped overnight en route from Skye to the south. Whilst our room was in need of redecoration it was clean and the bed comfortable and had a good sized bath to have a good soak in. The room overlooked the road but that proved not to be an issue as the traffic was very light during the night. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was best described as average. Breakfast however was good and staff friendly.

"An absolute gem!"
Mike191282, 09 Septembre 2017

This hotel is a real gem in wonderful surroundings, clean, tidy and so welcoming! The room was superb and spotlessly clean, the food was delicious with a good and varied menu and nothing was too much for the staff. I can't recommend it highly enough! We were part of a group yet treated as individuals, thank you.

"Wow, Superb staff,"
winters_on_tour, 09 Septembre 2017

Just returned from a week in Scotland which included 4 nights in this hotel. Now I will mention straight off that they upgraded us to one of their 10 nicer rooms at the front, so our comments are based on occupying the better rooms. Other members of our party did say that some standard rooms were a bit small. HOWEVER, room size aside, the staff are the stars of the show here. As regular visitors to the wilds of Bonnie Scotland, we are well used to the 'abrupt' style of Highlands hospitality, but here, totally the opposite. We were well and truly spoilt all week by a bevy of lovely Scottish lassies. On team tall we had Paula and Kat, and on team 'not so tall' we had Lyndsey and Vicky, ably supported by Geordie the night porter. Nothing was too much trouble, our party of 40 were served 3 course dinners every night with military precision, while they still happily fulfilled specific requests for out of the ordinary fruit teas and extra oatcakes etc. The manager was there most days holding the door to welcome us back from another excursion, which was a nice touch, (not that he does much else eh girls lol). We were all usually soaked so the drying room was a great help. They even have an outside midge-eating machine to help control those west coast pests, how many other hotels would go that far to try to ensure guests comfort. Would we change anything? A bigger boiler to cope better with the hot water demands maybe, but I am dredging the barrel really and I can't think of anything else. Thanks everyone - we'll be back - If you'll have us !

"Overnight on a tour north"
Bob G, 07 Septembre 2017

This was a convenient overnight stop as we travelled from loch Lomond to the NW coast. Easy to find, free parking, good meals (large pizzas recommended !). Staff pleasant and helpful. Noted it would make a good base for future trips being by a road and rail junction. No facilities locally, Crianlarich is very small.

"Peaceful haven"
lesleymulhall, 06 Septembre 2017

Very well maintained hotel. Has a charming appearance and nice lounge, bar, breakfast room and dining room. When a coach party arrived they had their own room for dining, thus preserving the nice country hotel feel. The welcome was really cheery and a drying room and indoor room for baggage ( being transferred for west highland way) was great. Also nice to have a lift to the 2nd floor. The room was large and well appointed. A great power shower and lovely view over the mountains. Also very comfortable bed. The bar was well stocked. No real beer but a few craft. The wine was varied and good quality. The food in the restaurant was nicely served. We had the ham hock terrine to start and Trio of salmon. Both meaty portions. I had gammon and pineapple for main. It was good quality and large for me. My husband had the pork loin on Mash and vegetables. The sauce was lovely. No space for dessert. Reasonable price and helpful service. We had the packed lunches for the next day. These were bountiful and good value. The breakfast opened at 7.30. A great range of cereal and fruit. The cooked breakfast was well presented and tasty. I had a bacon roll which was very filling. Overall the staff were all helpful and willing to help out with any question or minor problem. The wifi worked in the rooms as well as public room. It's definitely somewhere we would revisit.

"dinner "
anne m, 02 Septembre 2017

visited for dinner on friday evening. food was terrible, pizza sauce tasted so sweet i felt sick eating it and it turned into an uncutable pile of gloop. no steak knife for pizza, surprised to see a customer use there fingers to eat it. steak pie was tiny one third of plate chips and veg. no atmosphere, felt uncomfortable eating there. one staff member looked like he was running around trying to do everything himself. overall when asking about local area ect staff didnt seem to be helpful. place seemed very 'snobby'

"Not the Best..."
Simon P, 26 Août 2017

Stayed for 1 night on our whistle stop tour of Scotland. Upon arrival our online booking for a family room of 4 was queried and we were asked to pay an extra £19.95 for breakfast and bed linen for the extra little person. Our online booking clearly stated 2 adults 2 children. My wife paid. After some discussion between us both I decided that was a dirty trick to try and went down to reception to get a refund. Fair play, the lady at reception refused once but not the second time. It's clearly an error on their part either booking via the internet or something else. The extra bed in our family room was just a small camp bed anyway, looks like they had to get us in a 3 bed at last minute and add the extra bed. So family's of 4 booking a room keep and eye out for this confusion. We got a £5 bar voucher with booking, nice, so decided to book pizza to take to room. Quite comical ordering it and handing payment over. Went to pay with my debit card, but was asked by male foreign bar worker if I had cash, scrambled around for it, handed it to the guy who dumped it in the til without giving me change. I looked at him, he looked at me, the penny dropped, he said sorry with no move to give it me the change back, so I gestured sarcastically he could keep it as a tip. It was 5p. About right. Pizza came, was quite nice. Room was average. Table was really wobbly, couldn't write or eat/drink off it. Toilet/shower room very small, couldn't swing a damp cat in there. The door to it was a strange double cupboard door. No lock, kids loved that. As some have already said, shower temperature fluctuated quite rapidly between hot and cold, was impossible to settle it on a constant temperature. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was ok, had full Scottish, daughter did find a fly the porridge so avoided that. Won't be back, wasn't worth the nearly £200 we paid for 2 rooms.

"Shabby room, dangerous inefficient shower"
happyflower2017, 25 Août 2017

The reception looked promising but the room was dingy and shabby. We were only staying for one night to break our journey further north, so decided to put up with it. However, that was a decision I later regretted. After a very disappointing dinner in a dining room that was more like a sauna I decided to go up to my room for a shower. The water ran cold for ages and then gushed out scalding hot. I burnt my leg badly. I phoned down to report it at the reception. The next morning a maintenance person came to have a look. I don't know what the outcome was because we had to leave but I wanted to make sure the next guest didn't get scalded. The person on reception did apologise but took my money of course. On a minor note- there were no toilet brushes. I mentioned it but was told that Best Western do not provide them in bathrooms. I feel sorry for the cleaners! So not Best Western but Bog standard! We went somewhere else on our return journey.

"Good place for lunch"
DoogDog, 22 Août 2017

Stopped about 3pm. Was very quiet but good choices on the menu - including vegetarian (although annoying all fish options are marked with a 'v' too which always irritates me!) I opted for soup and a baguette and both were delicious. My husband had the steak pie main meal with chips and veg. The portion was good and tasty too. Priced how you'd expect - about ten pounds for the steak pie and 7-ish for soup/sandwich. Probably the outside would put people off, thinking it would be stuffy and too expensive. It is a bit dated but the food was good and we weren't disappointed. Would recommend for lunch.

"Surpassed my expectations"
Mick H, 20 Août 2017

Had a one night stop over here with the dog and could not fault the place. Very good evening meal and breakfast, room was clean and spacious and no noisy guests. Off road parking was decent and the village has good small walks with views. The staff provided very good customer service. If you are here on business, the wifi may be better downstairs as I tried to do some work in my room on my laptop but could not connect. Booked online which was cheaper than booking direct with the hotel. Thank you for a great stay.

"What a Gem, What a location"
edwardw418, 20 Août 2017

We chose this hotel for the location as it sits in the middle of most places from Glasgow to Skye and Loch Lomond to the Cairngorms. On arrival we were greeted and quickly shown to our room which was large, clean and had a wonderful view of the local mountains.. We stayed 3 nights and were able to visit Loch Lomond, Skye via Glen Coe and Fort William and also the Cairngorms taking the funicular up the sky slopes near Aviemore. During our stay the food at night and at Breakfast was extremely good and well priced and served by very friendly staff. The hotel is at the top end of the Trossachs, where there is lots to do for driver and or walkers and highly recommended is the three lochs forest drive.

"Friendly staff, comfy beds, good food"
joolia76, 20 Août 2017

We stayed here for one night. We had lovely meal in restaurant, a great nights sleep in a large family room and hearty breakfast the next morning. The hotel decor is a little dated but it is clean, comfy and warm. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

"excellent customer service to deal with minor issue"
Haggis65, 18 Août 2017

Stayed overnight at last minute and hotel full. Enjoyed evening meal with good selection of local food and very tasty. Room was ideal and unfortunate leak developed in bathroom ceiling late at night. Manager and staff switched off water and tried to repair overnight and as solution provided alternate room for shower in morning. Good breakfast and the complimentary rate offered after this issue really prevented any negative impression with hotel & staff. Highly recommended and great follow up on customer service - well done Great Western will definitely recommend them and use them again based on this proactive & positive attitude.

"ideal for walking the west highland way"
Bren G, 14 Août 2017

stayed at this hotel recently, very popular with people walking the west highland way, also adjacent to the train station, and bus stop to Galsgow Oban and fort william outside the door. staff were welcoming, food very good, we had a disability room with walk in shower, we were on a coach tour with Dodd's of Troon would also highly recommend. this hotel is great for car tourists as well . enjoyed our short stay of 2 nights thanks

"Nice stopover!"
KathrynT, 13 Août 2017

Stayed here one night, nice large room with bath and shower. To be picky, one towel was stained other than that everything fine. Nice friendly staff. Evening meal in the restaurant ....I had haggis stuffed chicken breast with a beautiful sauce, mash and veg...definitely recommend! My husbands steak pie on the other hand.....he said was just ok. Plenty of staff on at breakfast...lots of choice. Scottish breakfast was fine and filling! Would stay again.

"A Perfect Hotel In A Perfect Setting"
Don T, 12 Août 2017

Stopping here for four nights we used the hotel as a base for travelling. It is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Southern end of the Scottish Highlands and is within walking distance of the railway station with good connections to Glasgow, Oban, Fort William and Mallaig. We found the staff here to be more than friendly, the room clean and spacious. The view from the hotel window was just spectacular. Yes, there is a main road running past, but the rooms have good double glazing which cuts the noise to a minimum. The food and drink was of the highest quality. Overall we were more than satisfied with our stay and would have no hesitation in coming back

"Surprisingly Comfortable, Excellent Food. The Wilds of the Highlands with a Touch of Civilisation."
Puffbubble, 11 Août 2017

I wasn't expecting much from a hotel in the Highlands, but we arrived to find great comfort in our twin room - which had a double and a single bed. Crisp, fresh bed linen, excellent quality pillows, mattress and quilts and beautiful blanket throws. The room was spacious with two windows overlooking the road to the front and the river bank and trees across the way. I was sceptical when the receptionist at the front desk advised us that they served the best food in the village and she actually couldn't recommend anywhere else. So worried we'd get rubbish food after two days of driving, we decided to eat in house. We weren't well dressed, but they didn't blink an eye in the restaurant. And the food was excellent. I had a main course size salad of black pudding and bacon which was delicious with a light fresh dressing and my travel companion had a half and half pizza with margarita on one half and pepperoni on the other half. He said it was the best pizza crust he'd had in a long time. I had a couple of small glasses of pinot grigio and we both found the staff helpful, friendly and efficient. We finished off our meal with a sticky toffee pudding dessert and I had a flat white coffee. Breakfast the next morning was excellent again. All the usual suspects with lovely local bacon, eggs with a vibrant yellow yolk and porridge, cereals, fruit, juices, etc etc. Again very efficient, pleasant and a good atmosphere. In fact that sums up the hotel. Efficient, pleasant and a great atmosphere. I'd heartily recommend this hotel and it was a welcome break in the 12 hour journey from the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland to the wilds of the Scottish Highlands. Wild is good, but wild with a touch of civilisation is great!

"Great Stay and Good Eats"
B_Pope, 02 Août 2017

On a lark, we decided to take an overnight trip into the Scottish highlands. We attempted to book an Air B&B, but that reservation didn't stick, so we booked the Crianlarich Hotel on Expedia, not knowing what to expect. We were quite pleased with the hotel and with the town! The hotel has two parts; an older part (facing the main road) and a newer part (with a modern lift). Our room was in the older part, which was not a problem. The room was clean and modernized, with bright accent wallpaper on one wall (behind the bed). One window with roman shades looked out upon the main road and the hills beyond. Yes, the bathroom was small, but well thought out, so it didn't cramp our style. It even had a heated towel rack. We were pleasantly surprised that the room included free breakfast (the booking site had not mentioned it). We felt like royalty as we were served our choice of full English and other options, with many more choices available on the buffet! Tablecloths and cloth napkins adorned tables in the glass-enclosed dining room. Waitstaff and other workers were very helpful. Our front desk checking-in lady was friendly and helpful, but our check-out man seemed distant and distracted. Apparently wet weather is the norm for the area (you can tell when it's summer because the rain is warmer); the hotel has a drying room between the lobby and the lift for raincoats, shoes, and other wet items. Rather than eating dinner in the hotel's restaurant, we took a short, pleasant walk into town and ate at the local pub. We enjoyed meeting a friendly local man and his even friendlier dog. Be sure to carry your raincoat with you!

"A genuine warm welcome "
Ben S, 01 Août 2017

Having walked all day in the rain and mud we were delighted to get to this hotel. From the outset the impression is good with a warm welcome. The room was large, quiet and had amazing mountain views. Dinner was OK. I suggest the poached egg for the top of the salad is done to order and not pre-done, and the steak needs more flavour. The dining room is an impressive Victorian room with a laid back atmosphere. Service is friendly and quick, breakfast really good and they even washed and dried out manky mud-splattered kit overnight. This is a family owned hotel (under the Best Western banner) and the warmth shines through. We leave restored and with a bit of a soft spot for this hotel.

"An OK place"
msfrank87, 01 Août 2017

We stopped here because we need a place to sleep to break up a rather long driving stretch. It was exactly that - a place to sleep. While the beds were comfortable, the room was really overheated, and the bathroom not more than a closet. The breakfast, however, was tasty and the mattresses good.

"Very frendly and welcoming staff"
Stewart T, 24 Juillet 2017

We stayed at the best westen for 1 night, we were amazed how homely the place felt especially with our dog. The service was fantastic, lovely food and great bar for a drink and relax. At breakfast time we were suprised they gave our dog 2 sausages for breakfast whilst eating ours. The breakfast was outstanding, they kindly reserved a table of our choice for evening meal and breakfast. lovely walks close by the hotel. We will be back and thank you for a pleasant stay. And the evening meal was lush. Venison sausages and mash highly recommended. The rooms were nice we had a bran neqw bathroom suite thermostat shower which which was fantastic Thanks all

"Lovely first step into the Highlands"
Simon M, 20 Juillet 2017

A lovely welcome, rooms were clean and comfortable, incredible beds great night sleep and they're dog friendly so although they can't come into the restaurants they are allowed everywhere else. They will even set a breakfast table out in another area so you can bring the pooch, a few really nice dog walks 1 mile long to Infinity close by and a stones throw from the river! Not at all expensive either I would definitely stay again

"Great hospitality"
BeverleyMoray, 16 Juillet 2017

Lovely two day stay at this pet friendly hotel. Lovely staff, great food. Easy parking. Would definitely go again when visiting that part of the country. Only negative was the mattress was past it's best on double bed in room 235.

"Comfortable, good food but irratating music"
WilliamByrd, 11 Juillet 2017

We stayed for a single night, and enjoyed the comfortable and well fitted room. The food at dinner and breakfast was good but spoiled by the loud background music. Far from adding to the atmosphere this was distracting and cheapening.

"Excellent lunch"
Bruichsbest, 09 Juillet 2017

Delighted with our lunch as a much needed stop over during a long drive.Service friendly and efficient - we were pleased with our food which arrived quickly & was exactly as hoped.Soup, ciabattas, craft beer & latte's were what one might hope to find from a top quality eatery in any of Scotland's big cities.Top marks.

"Superb hotel along the West Highland Way"
SavvyTaveler, 08 Juillet 2017

A perfect stop along the West Highland Way. Lovely large room and bath; clean and comfortable and warm. Great dinner and breakfast. Staff was warm and friendly. Entire hotel was well appointed and comfortable. Super wifi. A perfect respite along the Way.

"Fantastic hotel"
Graham Q, 02 Juillet 2017

Stayed here as part of a tour party visiting Loch Lomand, Mull and the Highlands. What a great hotel. Good food and wine, terrific very friendly service and good location as base to tour the area. Rooms kept very clean and tidy with daily changes of towels Entertainment provided after dinner in the evening comprising local music on the time we stayed.

"Stopped for lunch one day a year ago"
Edward K, 02 Juillet 2017

To be honest, I didn't think too much of my lunch here. We were waiting for our train after going to the wigwams and wanted food. The female manager (I think?) was really nice but the male waiter barely spoke and didn't look interested, I don't mind this at a typical cafe but this place looked proper professional at a glance. I remember not getting a menu so to speak but being told by manager "soup of the day alright for you?" and we just said yes. Soup was nice enough.

"Lovely welcome"
Carole C, 26 Juin 2017

We were part of a large group doing the West Highland Way and stayed here one night. The staff we very welcoming and our room was lovely and clean. A lovely hot bath and a comfy bed were just the thing to ease our tired bodies. A drying room for the wet footwear was an added bonus. The breakfast was outstanding and having been in the catering and hospitality industry we can be tough to please, no complaints here.

"price/performance way too high"
The_Protagonist, 22 Juin 2017

we've been here, returning from Skye trip - and the place really cries for refresh; sleep quality was OK, yet it really needs serious refurbish and rework. The breakfast was just OK (I hate scrambled eggs made out of eggs powder)

"Nice welcome"
Marian1990, 17 Juin 2017

We cut short our motor home break due to the weather and had been struggling to find somewhere decent to eat at 5pm. We were given a warm welcome and enjoyed a freshly cooked meal in comfortable surroundings after a wet dog walk along the river

"Great place to stay for a small hiking weekend"
Bill W, 14 Juin 2017

I stayed here for a weekend walking along the West Highland Way. The Crianlarich Best Western is very conveniently located need both the train station (5 minutes away) and the bus stop (right outside). The breakfast service was a great start to the day and the bar and restaurant were very nice endings to the day. There is a roomy clothes drying work on for wetter hiking days, and a reasonably priced laundry service for bigger issues.

"Stopped for coffee"
Ferryman1960, 14 Juin 2017

Convenient stop off for coffee however left totally disappointed. Stopped here for a coffee after reading reviews, however when he bar staff pour three espressos into a cup half full when you ordered an Americano you need to train your staff. When the espresso pours in 3 seconds you need to sack your coffee supplier. Please don't charge these high street coffee prices when you care this little about your customers coffee experience. My wife was also disappointed when she received a white Americano when she asked for a flat white. Wont stop for coffee again.

"Tired and Overpriced"
Marilyn J, 08 Juin 2017

The hotel is in a very good spot and has wonderful views. The staff in the dining room were very attentive and efficient, the dinner was fine. The hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment and in comparison to other places where we stayed this holiday it was overpiced.

"Relaxing and Friendly"
Gordon W, 07 Juin 2017

Stayed here on our way from Yorkshire to Fort Augustus for a 1 night break. The reception we received was first class from all the staff we met,we we're travelling with a small dog,so we were allowed to eat our evening meal and breakfast in the bar area, which the staff laid specially for us.The room was fine for the night we were there, only thing was the wi-fi didn't work in the room, but fine down in the lounge. There is a nice area to walk by the river across from the hotel which was handy for the dog. The quality of the food was excellent both at evening meal and breakfast, will definitely return if we are up this way again.

"Great Location for traveling up the west coast"
GChr7777, 05 Juin 2017

The location is great for traveling up the west coast, we stayed 1 night and the evening meal and breakfast were good. We will stay again and recommend to friends and family. The only issue was Internet didn't appear to reach our room, but worked ok in the bar.

"Called in for Breakfast"
T S, 04 Juin 2017

We were non residents however the receptionist said it was no problem. The breakfast was superb. It came plated to the table (I can't stand buffet breakfasts) and was well cooked, using good ingredients, and nicely presented. The waiting staff were lovely. A very well run hotel that I have no hesitation in recommending.

"Small room but great restaurant and food"
StreathamMike, 03 Juin 2017

Initially was a bit put off by the small size of the room and the fact it is on a busy road, but the road couldn't be heard through the window. Also we were travelling in an electric car and chose this hotel specificlly because it has a destination charger - a point on site where you can charge your EV. Unfortunately, this wasn't working and the receptionist wasnt able to explain why and couldn't see why it was an issue as there is an electric charging point available in a car park across the road - well, the issue is we had to pay to use that charger. So overall, not great to advertise that an EV destination charger is available when actually it is not. Better just to say there's a charger available in the opposite car park that you can use if you have the necessary subscription. Room itself was very small, but the bed was comfortable. Bathroom also tiny. First impression of the hotel was not great as there was a bus load of German tourists all smoking at the entrance, as a non smoker I don't appreciate having to wave/choke my way through lots of cigarette smoke in order to enter the hotel. Apart from the above points, we did enjoy our stay at the hotel. The restaurant is impressive, in terms of decor and food served. Not a great selection of wines, but the one we did choose was good. Good service. Same for breakfast - great to have a choice of alternatives to a "full" breakfast. Wifi was available all over the hotel, but each time had to come downstairs to connect to it, in order for it to be available upstairs, don't know why.

"Excellent overnight stay"
Tracey O, 28 Mai 2017

Our family stayed here overnight as a stop off on our holiday in the highlands. We don't normally favour chain hotels but we booked fairly late and this seemed good value in a good location. We were not disappointed. The rooms were excellent (apart from the shower) and our evening meal was superb....Cullen Skink, soup and prawns to start and Venison sausage & mash, the highlander pizza and fish and chips for mains....absolutely superb. Excellent meal and excellent value for money. Some of the servers were not the best and the drinks from the bar were very expensive but the other servers and the food made up for that! Breakfast was just as good. Could not fault. Will definitely consider staying here again when in the area and would not hesitate to recommend.

"Fabulous "
Judith W, 28 Mai 2017

My husband and I have visited this hotel a number of times. We had an overnight stay recently and dinner and breakfast couldn't complain about the place the room was lovely and the service from the colleague in the place was great. Lovely wee hotel

"Probably the best pizza ever"
minkyminky, 27 Mai 2017

A large sign promising pizza cooked in a traditional oven was too good to resist. The pizza was probably the best I have eaten in a long time. The restaurant feels a bit like a village hall, so lacks a bit of atmosphere but worth it for the food.

"Lovely hotel beautiful views"
hannah_smithuk, 15 Mai 2017

Lovely hotel stayed here for one night on the way to Isle of Mull. Lovely rooms with comfy big bed in premier room. Food was very nice including the breakfast included with the room price. Views out of the window of the surrounding mountains are beautiful. Very helpful staff had a problem with being charged twice for my room which was promptly sorted out and my card was refunded. Would stay again.

"a Strange Place Indeed"
Ian M, 15 Mai 2017

the staff are excellent...the hotel is clean and tidy but needs an upgrade... something the staff were quick to point out when the roof started leaking in 3 places. The food was good in the restaurant but the dining room is just so wrong....its huge with lots of stuffed animals staring at you :)

"A very nice hotel"
paradad, 08 Mai 2017

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel because the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was very nice. Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable but some of the flooring creaked when walked on and when I got up during the night I woke my wife up when I stood on that particular floorboard. It actually rocked when stood on. One other thing was very disappointing and that was the shower which was so weak that when I turned the showerhead upside down there was NO fountain of water, it just trickled down the side.

"Wonderful hotel great staff"
janebennett950, 08 Mai 2017

I stayed with my husband here for 2 nights in March 2017 on our weeks's break touring Scotland. Great location for exploring. Wonderful atmosphere and lovely food served by great staff in particular our thanks to Scott, Pamela and Paula for making our stay so enjoyable. The breakfast was gorgeous serving eggs benedict (my particular favourite) and much more.We enjoyed excellent service from these staff members who work incredibly hard to make you feel welcome. Would definitely stay here again.

"Good Hotel for Rail Users"
Brian M, 08 Mai 2017

A short walk, albeit uphill for a part of the way, from Crianlarich Railway Station is this Best Western Hotel. Although old and basic looking from the outside, the interior decoration is very pleasant. My single room at the back of the Hotel was just that, a small single room but it had a TV; bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities and was adequate for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent and the service in the restaurant efficient. The staff are principally foreign but there was one Scottish lady waitress. The evening meals provided were also excellent. My stay was short but I would certainly consider staying here again as it is not far from the Station and Scottish Citylink coaches also stop right outside the front door.

"Great location "
JANDDBritinParis, 07 Mai 2017

This is quite a large hotel for the area but it is In a perfect location for exploring the area or for walking either the West Highland Way or the many Munros in the area . As you would expect with a Best Western Hotel the room was fine , not particularly full of character but very clean , neutrally decorated and with everything you would need. Bathroom was fine . Tea and coffee provided Small bar area and comfortable lounge. Restaurant advertises itself as a pizzeria but in actual fact it sells a lot more than just pizzas . Food was good ( not cordon bleu ) but a good standard. Breakfast the same , very acceptable without being outstanding Friendly and efficient staff

"Great basic hotel - fantastic location"
GasMenace, 07 Mai 2017

Arrived by motorcycle after a 150 mile trip. Nice lass at reception sorted me out rapidly, changed me from a (single occupancy) twin to a double with no fuss and no cost, registered my BW award points and booked me in for dinner. The room was roomy, with a rear view, and was clean and tidy. The bed was comfy and there is free internet. Dinner was good value - I had a pizza. Fellow guests seemed to be a mixture of older tourists and younger contractors. The bar after was a bit lively with a few raucous locals, so I retreated with my pint into the guest-only quiet room, where newspapers local and national were available. Next day I had a nice cooked breakfast and a leisurely 11am checkout. I left my hard luggage at the hotel while I got the bike fuelled at Tyndrum (about 5 miles away), and then returned, loaded up and awaited my rendezvous with a fellow biker in the quiet room. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay. The staff are a credit to the place.

"Very well located"
florencececiled, 28 Avril 2017

Good location in the national Parc. Good staff, a worm and professional wellcoming. Very good breakfast, continental and scottish. but too much noise. ....We had a bad night because of the bad soundproofing of the window.

"Day 4 West Highland Way"
Pete D, 27 Avril 2017

Comfortable and friendly welcome on arrival. Rooms were okay and the bar area is comfortable. We were late-ish getting there and had dinner at 9 and I think we suffered from being that last table to be served. Food was a mixed bag and I had the worst burger I have ever been served. There was no excuse for what was produced and I left most of it – the staff in the restaurant seemed disinterested and nobody asked why I hadn't eaten it? I should have complained but frankly I was too tired! However, the packed lunches were the best of the trip.

"Faultless"
am227, 26 Avril 2017

Has been a while since I dined here and had heard great reviews and wasnt disappointed. The food was delicious,I had King Prawn Pil Pil for starter... Rib eye steak for main and sadly couldnt manage a dessert. Can't fault anything will certainly be back and a special mention to Scott who was very professional as our waiter.

"Lovely Stop Over!"
D5407FWandrews, 24 Avril 2017

Myself and the family stopped here for lunch whilst exploring the Highlands. We sat in the lounge area rather than the bar or restaurant and had a lovely meal. Service was attentive but not 'in your face'. My son was delighted with the free wifi connection and there were newspapers available should you wish to catch up on world events.

"Excellent service, lovely place, great food!"
Steven W, 22 Avril 2017

Staff offer a warm welcome. A great place for a meal and drink. Food was excellent and they also offer takeaway options....pizzas are amazing! A must if in the area, better than anything else in the area.

"Great lunch at the Trossachs National Park"
ehelkur, 19 Avril 2017

We didn't spend any night in this little charming hotel, but had a very good lunch. the menu has a good variety of options and the food was good. The lunch room was really spacious. The bar had a very large collection of alcoholic beverages.

"Fantastic hospitality"
Avril Y, 18 Avril 2017

After being caught by rain and freezing fog whilst camping we arrived at hotel late night in pyjamas. Staff so helpful that we stayed an extra 2 nights. Comfy clean rooms and fab breakfasts. Staff wonderfu

"Pleasing stay in a charming little hotel. Spotlessly clean."
ija04, 16 Avril 2017

We were checked in by a friendly lady, and my request for a room with a mountain view was not needed as we had already been assigned a large room with a pleasing view. There is plenty of parking - we managed to park outside the entrance and unload directly. We booked ourselves into the restaurant for later and went for a short drive to nearby Kilchurn castle (which was deserted and beautiful in failing evening light). The room was very spacious and the heating powerful. The room was spotless and a credit to the housekeeping team. It is also quiet as it is set back from the road and not busy at night. The restaurant was also good - not outstanding, but the food was better than expected and with a comfortable ambiance. The breakfast was very good - there is a continental-style buffet, and one can order hot items from the menu, including eggs royale with local salmon, which is a nice touch. Overall, for the price, this was a great stay, and I will be returning if in the area again.

"Two night birthday trip with husband and two friends"
Fiona B, 14 Avril 2017

The hotel is just as I remember it fifteen years ago only difference is it is much better the rooms are very clean and spacious and the staff were just fantastic especially Clare and Scott the night porter peter was such a laugh as well all so helpful and cherrie couldn't do enough for us the food was just fantastic being a chef myself I can be quite critical but I only have praise for the chef and the rest of his staff and thanks for my birthday cake which was such a surprise.thanks to all for making our stay just perfect

"Overnight Stay"
79Gemini71, 14 Avril 2017

Stayed at the hotel as a stop over on the way to Skye. We had been rather late arriving 9.45pm and were exhausted from our journey. The first thing that reception asked us was if we had eaten anything and that he could order something for us whilst we took our stuff to the room. (They restrauants last orders were 9.30). You have no idea after a long journey when you are tired and hungry that this was so good and kind - big thanks to Scott for great hospitality skills. Our room was clean and tidy. Couldn't be faultered. The shower in the morning was extremely refreshing warm and with an enjoyable pressure. Breakfast was hearty and warm and the staff were very cheerful and pleasant. All in all no complaints and we definitely return.

"Great hotel"
e_dickson20, 12 Avril 2017

Just spent two nights at this lovely hotel . The room was large, clean and very comfortable staff were friendly and service excellent. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of choices. We had our dinner in the hotel restaurant on both nights, the choices were good and the meal was excellent and not overpriced

"lovely location"
callawayCoDurham, 11 Avril 2017

A very nice hotel, with lovely, helpful staff. Within reach of Oban and Loch Lomand. Excellant food, a wide choice for breakfast, and for dinner. Booked a ferry to go to the Isle of Mull, the manager and receptionist, were very helpful. On the whole a nice break.

"Good location for walking"
holidayneeded72, 09 Avril 2017

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was large with reasonable facilities except the Wi Fi was poor and too frequently was not with connection. The mattress was old and in need of replacement - possible springs gone bot not horrendous. The breakfast was good. The evening meals were adequate but the spare ribs were disappointing and the red wine was served too warm and not a good quality. All the hotel was clean and warm. The car parking was easy.

"Welcoming"
Flutty1951, 09 Avril 2017

Never a disappointment coming to the Crianlarich Hotel, I have stayed here several times over the past years and its always a pleasant stay. I can recommend the rooms, food and above all, the staff. Its also a perfect place to explore the Highlands as it is also adjacent to the West Highland Railway line.

"Resting retreat"
David R, 06 Avril 2017

On arrival made to feel at home , very tidy great staff and warm surroundings. On being shown to our room ticked all the boxes , comfy with en suite. Restaurant very spacious with a superb choice of food and afters , small bar but with plenty relaxing areas after your meal . Once again staff very accommodating . The main thing was location as it is next to the Train station which allows you to travel to Oban - Fort William and other routes . We enjoyed it so much we have planned another trip to meet again with Kenny - Paula and staff who are a credit to the Hotel.

"Nice & Cosy"
Dirty Neil H, 27 Novembre 2016

Terrific staff and very helpful. Some reviews I had read were not good, however we were made very welcome on our arrival. Lovely lounge with wood burner and dining room, good size bedroom, although our view was not the best as it was thick mist so we were not able to see a lot anyway. Bathroom small (compact) but ongoing upgrading of bathrooms and reception area, this did not spoil our stay. Great breakfast and evening meals although we thought evening meal was more expensive than we would normally pay (hotel prices). Little things like loo seat was loose (fixed it) and whb plug chain broken. Great manager (sorry I forget his name), very approachable, looking after his guests and trying to improve all the time. Highly recommend this hotel.

"Nice base for visiting the area"
Raffs2016, 24 Novembre 2016

They were having work done on hotel so will probably be better in future. Workmen noisy into evening. Very comfortable beds. Very clean. Breakfast was very good, attentive staff. The evening service wasn't, so good but the chef was good.

"Nice informal hotel"
Zeryx, 23 Novembre 2016

We have just returned from spending 2 nights here. Lovely friendly staff and atmosphere to the hotel. We had a room with a lovely view over the hills. Unfortunately on arrival the room stank of dogs who had obviously stayed there ... after opening the window for a few hours that cleared but left the room cold, it would have been good if the hotel staff could have done that after the last checkout and before we arrived. The room was adequate, highly amused at the tiny bathroom in what may have been a cupboard in a past life. Despite having a shower over the bath the water pressure was so poor wee couldn't even get hot water let alone a shower on Saturday morning and had to wait until Saturday evening when things had improved slightly. The bar menu and restaurant menu are one and the same, nice food and staff willing to change chips for potato when requested. The service can be a bit slow and we actually had to ask for the desert menu on the Saturday night whereas we'd had it offered on Friday. Log burners are lovely and cosy to sit by on a cold evening for drinks.

"Fab friendly hotel"
jzcee, 19 Novembre 2016

Arrived to a lovely warm welcome by Souzane for 3 night groupon stay. Initial problem with tv in room due to new installation of service Souzane and the lovely maintenance man could not have been more helpful to resolve this problem immediately. Our room was one floor up alongside railway line which was very quiet. Nice view of the hills. All staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough Catriona, Scott and Andrei made every mealtime a pleasure. Big shout out to the chefs food was delicious. And another lovely lady Vicky? made sure we had everything we needed for our room. Didn't do much walking due to knee injury but drove to Kilchurn castle, Inverary, Oban and Killin lots to do. Would deffy go back and certainly recommend a stay here.

"Great stay"
POPSPHILIP, 15 Novembre 2016

Arrived at the hotel to a nice welcome there is work going on just now but that didn't affect our stay. We were one floor up luckily there is a lift as we had a pram. The room was nice nothing to complain about. Went for dinner in the restaurant all freshly made was lovely. We then went to the bar to watch football where it was no hassle when we asked staff to turn it on etc in the bar our dog joined us and enjoyed relaxing by the fire. As no signal there even Vodafone is poor the wifi is very good which is helpful. Would go back. Not much to do on crianlarich so more of a hotel to stay in and travel around the area

"Lovely friendly hotel superb value for money!"
georgegarforth20, 14 Novembre 2016

We have recently returned after a three night stay. On arrival we were a little worried as there was some building work going on in reception. We needn't have worried we were very impressed with our stay. The room was clean with lovely fluffy towels, a comfy bed and crisp white bedding. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We ate in the restaurant two evenings. The food was presented well and was extremely good value for money. The lamb shank was to die for! The hotel is well placed to visit the area around Loch Lomond at a fraction of a price of some hotels. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

"Family break"
bodget, 10 Novembre 2016

Visited the crianlarich on a groupon deal for a break with the dogs. Some updating of the bedrooms and reception was taking place but this didn't affect our trip.hotel is in an ideal position to go to glencoe, fort William or south to loch lomond.scenery around the hotel is stunning as it sits bellow glen more. Food was excellent and the staff made us very welcome with our 2 dogs. The dogs loved the daily walks along the river that's close by. A special mention must go to andrei and Scott who is scared of dogs but made an extraordinary effort to be friends with our dogue de Bordeaux!! This hotel would have still be value for money without the groupon deal

"What a find"
Steven J, 09 Novembre 2016

Three day weekend break at the Best Western Crianlarich and was much much more than we expected. Kenny the manager arranged our stay, got a premier room which was lovely, overlooking mountains. Souzane met us both with lovely smile. Very clean and well maintained and rooms serviced daily. The food was excellent, do not bother eating anywhere else, cooked to order, tasty, well presented and local. Loved the log fires as well. Very good choice and good portions and consistent, we ate in it for all 3 nights. The owners have this place spot on and we would definitely go back. All the staff friendly and personable. Breakfast was another highlight, and set us up for days out in Luss, Oban, and Stirling castle. Use the hotel as base to tour

"Cracking 3 nights"
151BigD, 05 Novembre 2016

Just got back from a 3 night break at the Crianlarich hotel. Staff are fantastic on arrival I explained to reception that my wife had just had an emergency operation on her shoulder after an accident and that she would struggle to get out of a bath so the receptionist moved us to a room with a wet room. This service continued right through the 3 days from everyone we came in contact with. Breakfast had everything you could imagine and if you had cooked it was done to order with good quality products. We ate in the restaurant all 3 nights food was good and cooked well also good value. Have already recommended the Crianlarich to friends and family.

"Fantastic 3 night break, could easily have spent much longer there too!"
Jo M, 03 Novembre 2016

Just returned from a 3 night break. Hotel was naturally fairly quiet for early November but it was just what was needed. Friendly, welcoming staff, great room and fantastic food. Upgraded to a premier room on arrival which was huge, plenty of hanging space, bath with basic shower over but this was fine and provided plenty of hot water. Breakfast was superb, lots of choice and cooked to order. We ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings, whole heartedly recommend the pizzas! They are amazing and great value. Took the train, 10.30 I think, on one day to Oban and then the 50 minute ferry ride over to the Isle of Mull (less than £7 return each as foot passengers!!) then took the bus (just over £7 each return) to Tobermory for a couple of hours. Totally recommend this. Spent another day in the Balloch area walking and taking in the amazing views. The train station is literally a couple of minutes walk and is such a break from having to drive everywhere. The sleeper train stops here too. Really do recommend here and plan to return soon.

"A brilliant 3 night stay"
Sylvia B, 02 Novembre 2016

We have just returned from a lovely 3 night break with the dog too! For the price we paid on a groupon offer it was fabulous. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We were upgraded to a larger room which was good. The room was clean and spacious. The food was good, breakfast had plenty of choice and the meals we ate in the evening were fine. The steak and ale pie was very tasty. The hotel was well placed for local transport. We took the train to Oban and the bus stopped outside the hotel. A thoroughly enjoyable stay at a very good price. We will definitely return.

"Always get a warm welcome"
Jennie L, 02 Novembre 2016

We always return to this lovely hotel and have recommended it to friends and family too. The staff are really helpful and welcoming, and rooms warm & clean with every comfort. Good range of food and drink and a lovely lounge to relax in front of a log fire. Handy for Nevis Range/ Glencoe and Oban. Very good value for money.

"Would love to have spent longer there!"
lammkin, 27 Octobre 2016

We had actually booked their less expensive lodge house but when we arrived we were offered an upgrade. The room we were given was amaxing, large beautiful, light and airy. We ordered a pizza to eat in out room, but drank in the bar first. All round great experience.

"Really lovely staff!"
Katherine C, 26 Octobre 2016

We spent 3 nights in this hotel in October and thought it was great! We had a family room with ensuite. The building is a little bit older so the floor creaks a bit but the shower was piping hot and the bed was very comfortable. We did not notice much noise from the trucks or train and we had a front-facing room. The breakfast in the morning was filling and delicious. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner twice and all meals were very good. The best part about the hotel though is the staff - Souzane at check-in, Andrei and Julian at dinner (and sometimes breakfast too!), Jenna at check-out, and a lovely blonde lady whose name I have forgotten (Vicky?) at breakfast too. All very bright and bubbly and helpful. Thank you!

"Definatly wont return, outdated room\\shower, poor breakfast"
SarahGunton, 23 Octobre 2016

Just returned from a 2 nt groupon deal and definatly wont return. This hotel is supposed to be a 3 star hotel yet I cant see it being a 2 star! The room we were allocated (room 221) was at the rear of the hotel, long walk from the lift, overlooking the rubbish and had noisy staff standing outside talking at 2am! The room was dirty when we arrived with rubbish on floor and dirty soap on the soap dish in the shower. A noisy fan kept us awake for both nights even though we told the staff after the first night, nothing was done to remedy. The shower the next morning was a joke. Faulty towers would have been better! An outdated mixer tap that ran either scalding hot water or freezing cold water, you had to dip under for the couple of seconds when it decided to go from one temperature to the other! There was hot water running out of the cold tap in the basin. The plug at the dressing table couldnt be used as the dressing table was in the way. The heater control was useless, it just altered itself no matter what you selected! The dinner was poor value for money and would recommend that you drive 5 miles up the road and visit another cafe, much better value and quality of food. The breakfast was extremely poor. The scrambled egg, poached egg, sausage and porridge were not edible. The fresh fruit was fizzy. Also dont bother with the vending machine, the prices are made up as they want, they are not as marked on the machine and staff will argue this fact! Was hoping for a nice short break, the scenery was great but hotel badly spoilt the trip. Dont bother staying here, there are much nicer places available nearby.

"Great couple of nights"
TheBainsWains, 21 Octobre 2016

We booked a family room for two adults, one teenager and our dog, the room was better than we expected with additional seating and a small table. The staff were very welcoming and efficient from reception to bar/restaurant staff to breakfast staff and the hotel very clean. We had a meal in the restaurant which was lovely and very reasonable. Breakfast was good and enough to set you up for the day....thank you for making our stay so pleasant. We would recommend this Hotel to others.

"We had lunch at the restaurant, but did not stay at the hotel. Great food, coffee, service!"
philippe v, 19 Octobre 2016

Very knowledgeable restaurant staff, great service and great food and coffee! Other patrons made similar comments. Service was quick, friendly and the recommendations spot on. It is also pet friendly and our pooch was allowed to join us in the bar area. Toilets are spotless. Parking across the road and plentiful. Hotel public areas are comfortable and inviting, and manned by very friendly staff. Recommended!

"Special weekend with friends"
alanatdyce, 15 Octobre 2016

The staff are excellent - friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was good and served well. If charging anything at all to your room number, insist on signing the tab. Otherwise you may have problems at check-out. The ground floor public areas are tasteful in a traditional Scottish way. The Wifi works well. Some of the bedrooms are dated. Do not accept Room 222 under any circumstances - the room is OK but the en-suite is bad. If you are not used to traffic noise, it may be better to ask for a room away from the roads.

"Lovely stay"
Wendy W, 12 Octobre 2016

Visited this hotel with family and glad we stopped here, the staff are lovely. Had dinner which was cooked to perfection. The manager came and checked if we were enjoying our stay when we were enjoying some lovely wines in the cosy bar. We have booked to come back as one night was not long enough. Thanks again guys for looking after us so well, nothing was too much trouble

"BEST WESTERN - CRIANLARICH"
Brian B, 12 Octobre 2016

Staff very friendly and helpful. Good food both in the breakfast room and dining room. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff and we were made to feel at home throughout our stay. Good location for exploring the highland region. Comfortable bed and relatively peaceful at night.

"Cosy "
Rick C, 12 Octobre 2016

Found this on Groupon and booked a weekend break. First impression on arrival was great we were checked in by a very cheery girl and shown to our room by a very pleasant man. Room was on the small side but absolutely spotless. Brilliant cosy bar with atmosphere a thing most hotel bars lack had dinner in the restaurant which was very good before returning to the bar got chatting to the gent that showed us to our room whilst making small talk I mentioned that it was our anniversary to discover at breakfast the next morning he had went and got a lovely bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates when checking out I asked to speak to management to pass on my gratitude only to discover it was he who was the manager. Once again ken thank you very much you went above and beyond the call of duty and look forward to seeing you again soon

"DO NOT GO HERE!!!"
allanjbrown, 10 Octobre 2016

Avoid at all costs. Drove 60+ miles for a two night break booked two weeks ago only to be told by 'manager' that we had definitely not booked. Even after pointing out to him that I was standing with my wife when she booked and that I actually read out the Groupon voucher code for the booking and the fact that the calls were detailed on our telephone, this guy would not listen. I don't know where best Western recruit there management from but they need to take a good look at this and deal with it. Drove to Kenmore Hotel instead and had a great night at a properly run hotel. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. Plenty other alternatives in the area run by properly trained staff.

"Bedroom in need of updating"
Ian H, 10 Octobre 2016

The hotel is old and this shows in places, room 230 was a small double, clean enough but with a creaky floor and tiny bathroom. The shower was an old non-thermostat tap which varies between far too hot and cold when the valve stayed in the shower position which it did not always do. Staff generally helpful but only one on reception / phone so delays checking in. Food OK, service for evening meal and breakfast good despite the hotel being full

"Highland Tour"
Maidenreview, 07 Octobre 2016

After reading the reviews on this hotel before our holiday I was a little unsure of what to expect . Well I needn't have worried as we found the hotel warm and friendly and very accommodating . the staff were very friendly and the food was good .a great breakfast to start the day ,and a good choice of evening meals .there was a lovely seating area to relax in and also a little quiet room that we found and I must say was most cosy ..also a separate restaurant on site if you fancy something different ...

"Small and Friendly Hotel"
GeorgeNorthYorkhire, 07 Octobre 2016

This review covers two visits, read on. We chose this charming hotel for an over-night stay on the way up to Moray Firth and again, a week later, on the way back. Our choice was a good one. Parking was easy and close, friendly staff greeted us, checking in and out were both very quick, our room was large, clean and quiet, dinner was excellent and not expensive, the wine was good and the Scottish breakfast was enough for anyone. There's not a lot more to say!

"Lunch"
Patrik Z, 06 Octobre 2016

Tasty fresh fish but not seasoned at all. Mussels was fresh and lovely. Coffee late what I ordered was made very old school... A lack of training...? Waiting staff looked like they didn't want to be there...me and my wife are working in this kind of trade for years and can clearly see what they should be doing and are not.... Overall was expecting a bit more from best Western group. Ta

"Nice Highland Hotel"
bttn2016, 04 Octobre 2016

Very comfortable room in the cottage opposite the hotel, excellent breakfast included in the price, very good service with friendly staff. Stayed four nights and ate dinner in the hotel every night, decent menu, good food and reasonable price. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

"Delightful friendly comfortable hotel"
hellowordlypeople, 30 Septembre 2016

I stayed here for one night after a late ferry from Oban. The room was comfortable, spotlessly clean (even to the basin plug having the chain rather beautifully coiled around it) and the bar welcomed me and my dog even though it was almost closing time. Although it was overlooking the main road it was not noisy at all. Breakfast the following morning was absolutely delicious and everyone was so friendly and helpful.

"Best pizza outside of Italy "
Jamie B, 29 Septembre 2016

Like an oasis in the desert, only this hostelry, serving hot food and real ale on a cold wet autumn day, was real. Real food, real ale and the real fire made us feel at home. After 50 long miles into the teeth of a gale, heading north to south on the west Highland way, we arrived saturated and shivering 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. The staff were excellent, making us feel welcome by rearranging the furniture around the wood burning stove, lighting the fire for us and keeping it stoked during our meal. 6 of us ordered 6 pizzas, 6 portions of chips and 6 pints of ale. The service was exemplary as we were provided with heat resistant lap trays to eat our perfect pizzas from hot plates by the fire. The total bill was 100 pounds so we gave them a £20 tip. Food and service of this quality at that price is rarely available in Scotland. They clearly have some talented chefs working round the back. Honestly, the best pizza I've had outside Napoli, I'll be back and I'll bring the family. Keep up the good work

"LOVELY STAY"
elaineclineuk, 19 Septembre 2016

We stayed here as part of the Great Railway Discoveries. Very impressed with the bedroom. We had a lovely view of the railway. I think we were lucky because some guests had issues with their rooms but ours was very good. The meals were excellent.

"Probably the only option in Crianlarich"
kellykate67, 18 Septembre 2016

Travelled with a group here to hike the West Highland Way. The bathrooms are really needing an update. We would return, after a day of hiking, to find no hot water and the shower never worked. The beds were OK. The morning buffet was OK. The girl at the front desk seems to work 15 hours a day and is clearly exhausted from trying to handle all of the complaints. The elevator was broken as well.

"Unexpected delight"
552jag49, 15 Septembre 2016

My daughter, two dogs and I stopped here on our way home from Skye, tired and weary. After ringing round 5 other hotels on the off chance of an over night stay The Best Western Crianlarich came up trumps. Unable to have our room till 3pm we took the dogs for a 45 min walk nearby. Luckily we were allowed in our room 15 mins early. Our bed was bigger than the tent we had just spent 3 nights in and so comfortable, we decided to have room service as we were so shattered. We both had the Steak Pie, and desert was Sticky Toffee pudding and Hot Chocolate Fudge cake. It was the best Steak pie either of us had ever tasted the gravey was devine, and both the puddings were scrumptious. Our room was lovely with good views, The hotel was friendly and clean. We had a lovely full Scottish breakfast, which set us up for our forward journey, would definitely give this a 5* rating.

"The Crianlarich Hotel"
sparky992, 13 Septembre 2016

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the firs room we were offered didn't even have a shower facility attachment on the bath. Impossible for my wife to wash her hair. Moved to another room that had a shower over the bath. The carpet in the room was filthy and smelt very strange. The water pressure is very poor. This place is like being back in the 1800 century. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food ok not brilliant. Cooked breakfast was quite cool, obviously pre prepared but not kept very warm.

"Had a wonderful meal in this hotel"
margaret k, 09 Septembre 2016

on our arrival at the hotel we were approached by very friendly manager who had a nice pleasant smile got his staff to show us into the lounge bar ,before making our way into the restaurant. The staff came thru to show us to our table very helpful in telling us what was on the menu ,service was excellent meal was first class ,prices very reasonable .i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a very relaxing time. Situated on the perfect spot for travelling around the area . I give the manager and his staff ten out of ten for their pleasant approach to all their guests ,

"Base camp for some Munro bagging"
Claire S, 08 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for two nights with our dog to walk some Munro's. There is the hotel car park across the road which is busy with traffic but also a public car park across from a quieter road which also has an electric charger. The hotel too has an electric charger. The staff are really friendly and helpful, there was nobody at reception to begin with but we didn't have to wait long after ringing the bell. The lady explained everything about meals and suggested we would get a table after getting settled into our room. The menu is really good in the restaurant, however, limited choice for vegetarian diets but I'm sure they'd rustle up anything if you asked. We had a premier room but not sure what made it premier. The beds was comfy but the pillows were lacking in filling. We were in room 204 which was next to the quieter of the two roads where the hotel lies, and the train doesn't bother you too much either. Breakfast is really good, with cereal, pastries, unlimited toast, fruit juice, porridge and a cooked breakfast with the usual tea and coffee. We will stay here again for sure.

"Enjoyable and good value apart from breakfast"
tripbiscuit, 01 Septembre 2016

The receptionist created a great first and last impression of this hotel by being calm, competent, friendly and very smiley on check-in and checkout. I told her she was an asset to the hotel. My room was comfortable and clean, and I slept very well. There is noise from the floor above so I'd advise trying to get a room on the top floor. WiFi was intermittent; when it worked the signal seemed strong but it did keep dropping out (n.b. my phone signal was weak here too). There is a railway very close by but it didn't bother me and there aren't many trains passing per day. There seem to be a lot of facilities for walkers and other outdoor types. Parking is good and there are charging stations across the road. The general ambience was pleasant, if a little tartaney. I enjoyed dinner and the dining room staff were friendly and competent. Breakfast was a different story, with an abrupt and unfriendly breakfast dragon, possibly a duty manager, who intimidated fellow staff as well as customers. There was a very unyielding and unfriendly seating policy for solo travellers; I was given no choice and was seated at a small table at the back of an empty dining room, between the kitchen and buffet table. The food itself wasn't great; it ticked boxes but didn't impress. Some of my cooked breakfast was inedible and there were missing items on the rather meagre buffet table. However you could fill yourself up very well with white toast and cereal before heading off for the day. The attitude of the breakfast dragon left a bad impression; up until then I was very happy with my stay and, given the price I paid, I'd have given the hotel at least a 4* review and would have been happy to return. I wondered afterwards if the breakfast manager felt that guests who pay an inclusive rate are getting something for free, so don't deserve courtesy. If you're not a solo female traveller you may have a better experience, so I'd recommend giving the hotel a try.

"We made an excellent Choice"
Dormouse39, 30 Août 2016

We choose this hotel to conduct our tour of Western Scotland and it was a good choice. Parking is across the road which is a busy route with a lot of HGV's at times. Our room was large and very comfortable but on the front overlooking the main road. We found it noise to start with as the HGV's went by but after a day or two we didn't notice them. The hotel is large a very roomy and caters for coaches (one there when we stayed came from our town!). Food was always excellent, the staff were magnificent and the whole experience was truly great. It's a place worth staying at.

"Large, nice accommodations, but somethings nonfunctional"
travelbelle88, 29 Août 2016

After a slew of b&b's, we were happy to see our huge room, with wide and comfortable king size bed. Lots of dresser space and large nighttables. Decently sized bathroom, with large sink. Not much space to hang towels. Heated towel rack would do well but it's not heated while radiator heating is off. Few wall sockets- had to unplug clock radio to charge 3rd phone. Bathroom light above sink did not work. Still, very comfortable, with good hospitality tray and huge towels. Excellent reception desk staffer- Dora- the hotels best asset. Great, fast laundry service. Breakfast was excellent, with croissants, cereals, porridge and toppings, and yogurt, and full, cooked Scottish breakfast. Best place to stay in our 2-wk trip, after the superb Callater lodge B&B in Braemar.

"Pretty good"
milady_12, 28 Août 2016

We were very lucky to find a vacancy in this hotel after driving up from Glasgow, even on a Tuesday. The desk staff were very friendly and accommodating and mostly helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, but some improvements in maintenance and upkeep wouldn't go amiss. Temperature control didn't work and the toilet didn't flush every time, but we didn't get much help with that and the staff didn't seem overly concerned. The breakfast was very good and included porridge, toast, other cold items and cooked dishes, including a full Scottish breakfast, could be ordered and were included.

"two rainy nights"
janet g, 23 Août 2016

There is only one hotel and one pub in Crianlanoch. Not much else. Oh a post office where you can get money from a cash machine inside so have to check opening/closing times. Nice friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was worth while and good and waitress service for the main Scottish breakfast. We ate dinner in the local pub twice which was excellent and reasonably priced and huge portions. Lots of walking available in lovely locations.

"Comfy family room"
emloue, 20 Août 2016

Great family room , very spacious. A lovely welcome when we arrived and dog friendly. Lovely hot showers. Breakfast included. Very impressed by the standard, decor and comfort. Free parking across the road literally a minute to carry your luggage. Our dog was brought a biscuit on arrival, she was very pleased. A nice touch. There is a bar area where you can eat with your pooch. There is a little lane that takes you down to the river where you can walk your best friend - watch out for rabbits of you have a chaser!

"Not a great Best Western"
smallworldnow, 17 Août 2016

Our room was spacious enough and the bed reasonably comfortable, but the bathroom was quite poor. The shower didn't work, either scalding hot or freezing cold. Breakfast was good though, nice selection.

"Worth the slight detour"
LesleyRun, 13 Août 2016

Stayed here for one night (our second stay) and would highly recommend it. Staff were so friendly and helpful at reception, bar and in restaurant. Food was lovely and the waitress was so friendly we left a well deserved tip. As we were leaving very early for a race in the morning, the receptionist offered a picnic service... and it was gorgeous. Beautiful fresh sandwiches with crisps etc. A lovely bonus. Would go to Crianlarich just to stay here. The restaurant is typical old fashioned Scottish authenticity... and they have a pizza oven! Worth turning right on the Crianlarich bypass!

"One and a half hour's wait for dinner!"
jilltinsley, 13 Août 2016

My friend and I were on a rail holiday in the Western highlands and were based at this hotel. The bedroom was comfortable and pleasant. The problems were in the dining room. The food was extremely poor. The so called chef produced badly cooked, sometimes inedible food. Frozen vegetables, watery cod, tough inedible beef with a slimy packet gravy, apple crumble from either tinned or dehydrated apples with gluey custard. Our tour leader tried to complain but was asked in no uncertain terms to leave the kitchen! Young, foreign staff with no supervision. Manager came in once a week (so we were told). Otherwise we had a splendid holiday!!

"Average; as expected"
William B, 09 Août 2016

The rooms were clean and had all the amenities advertised, so it was decent. However; the wifi didn't work in the rooms. The shower didn't work well. Breakfast wasn't served early enough for us, we needed to eat by 8. Not bad, just not good or great.

"Just OK"
spinpygora, 06 Août 2016

Room was ok, the wallpaper was quite garish and the lift was broken. Room was clean and sufficient. Don't bother eating in the restaurant.....prices high and food quality just so so....we would stay elsewhere in the future... Walk down the hill to the Rod and Reel for a good beer.

"fantastic!"
gwengrant, 01 Août 2016

We spent two nights here celebrating my inlaws 60th wedding anniversary, we had a great time, staff were helpful friendly and good fun, food was excellent and reasonably priced, room comfortable with a great view.

"Pity about no lift as broken, quite a trek to room. Great Food"
Paula S, 26 Juillet 2016

Very helpful staff, clean room, bathroom clean, but bath plug doesn't fit the bath, to big!! Great view from front room. Just pity the lift was broken as it was quite a trek to room. Great food and decent size portions. Mobile phone signal is very poor.

"On railtrail"
Anita D, 26 Juillet 2016

We had a fabulous stay at the Crianlarich Hotel..so welcoming and warm. We had beautiful breakfast every morning and a beautiful dinner in the evening. My room was warm comfortable and clean. The bed was so comfortable. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I did have a little wrangle with shower to work but opted for lovely soaks in Bath.. as between rail lines and main road do hear some traffic noise. But a pair of ear plugs sorted that and lovely peaceful sleep in beautiful surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Food OK and friendly service"
lasvegas-marmalade, 23 Juillet 2016

There is not a lot of choice in Crianlarich and we stopped at the hotel for lunch. The portions were very large but the food enjoyable. The room where the lunches were served was a little dated with mounted stag's heads etc....not to everyone's taste. The toilet was clean but again needed a bit of TLC. However it is more than adequate for a stop for a bite to eat. I am going to be staying at the hotel later in the year so will review the rooms at that point.

"Good."
Wouter P, 20 Juillet 2016

Charming and helpful lady at the reception desk. We had a nice dinner, nothing fancy. Good quality food. Decent and clean rooms. Ours had a bathroom for handicapped/wheelchair bound persons. Would come back here.

"Nice overnight stay"
EdmondOkThebills, 19 Juillet 2016

This was a clean and efficient Best Western with comfortable rooms and good breakfast. We also had dinner the night we stayed which was quite good. Beautiful outdoor surroundings in a peaceful quiet community. We were pleased to get a good night sleep.

"Great staff"
wdw47, 19 Juillet 2016

Just back from a short break staying here, and the service from the staff was terrific - very friendly and helpful. I had a very good sized room on the first floor, and dinner on two nights - kitchen very happy to adapt dishes to suit me. I have stayed at this hotel before, but this was probably the best stay yet.

"Tired old hotel - lunch only"
iainthepict, 18 Juillet 2016

We stopped here for lunch on our way north to Glencoe and Fort William. The food was very good; haggis topped pizza, and good value, but the place lets itself down. It's an old building and it shows. More accurately, it smells a wee bit. It's musty and in need of renovation. No reflection on the staff or the food or the service, but it's way past its best. Interesting decor, with stuffed animals on the walls, which kind of shows its heritage and that's all very well, but it doesn't help when you can detect that musty odour. Can't tell if it's woodworm or damp, but it needs addressing. A shame, because it looks fine from the outside and would've made a nice detour, Disappointing.

"Welcoming"
JB H, 18 Juillet 2016

We stayed overnight on our way to the Isle of Mull. Good position and parking. The friendliest of staff made us extremely welcome. The bar meal was excellent and the bedroom was comfortable and clean. Just one minor thing....a lovely bath, but no shower, which we didnt mind...but a hand held shower for washing hair, would have been great. Other than that we will certainly stay again. Thank you.

"Clean and tidy"
Suzie P, 16 Juillet 2016

Clean and tidy but room was a bit cramped. The rest of the hotel was welcoming and getting a seat by the fire was lovely. All staff were friendly. Parking wasn't great having to cross a busy road as the other car park was very full.

"Not a good place to have a holiday"
hotelsforall, 13 Juillet 2016

We booked into this hotel and were given a twin room. However it all went down hill from there. I will start with the shower. The water pressure was next to nothing, the water was either scalding hot or freezing cold and when running a bath it was not much better. The towel rail did not work and the extractor fan did not switch off. The bedroom was small and very dull. The curtains were not hanging on the rail properly, there was a very old wardrobe, and when I went to plug in my mobile charger the socket came out of the wall. So I was either going to be scalded or electrocuted. After complaining we were moved to another room. When you opened the dressing table drawers it smelled as if someone had been sick in them, in the bathroom the shower rail kept coming off the wall and the towel rail still did not work. The second room was never cleaned while we were there and the beds were just thrown up.

"Friendly hotel, fine for a night or two"
DW67, 12 Juillet 2016

We had an overnight here. The staff were rather over-stretched on what was quite a busy Saturday night but they remained very friendly and helpful. We were given a room with a shower but asked to swap to one with a bath (we'd been hill-walking) and this was done straight away for us. The room we were in had clearly had a bit of a refresh - not a total renovation but some nice touches like Harris Tweed chairs and new bedlinen and towels. It was perfectly comfortable (and there was loads of hot water for the all important bath!) Soundproofing between rooms is not great - we could hear the people above us moving about (at 6am on Sunday morning) so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the top floor! We ate dinner in the restaurant - this was pretty good - all cooked to order and it was good value too. Unusually for a hotel like this the breakfast was also cooked to order rather than a buffet. It was fine - plenty to choose from - and the staff again were very pleasant. Overall I would recommend this place for a night or two as it is in a very convenient location.

"dinner"
D B, 09 Juillet 2016

We had to come here for dinner as our hotel was so awful. The food was excellent, Salmon cooked to perfection . Service very good. Decor was clean and tidy, but I was not keen on the animal heads on the walls.

"A Scottish Hotel with a Lift"
dennistu, 06 Juillet 2016

After lugging our 5 suitcases up steep hotel staircases all over Scotland it was wonderful to find a hotel with a Lift. And next to the train line. And with a nice restaurant, even if the bar was too small. They were pain over check-in. There was no one on reception and bar staff told us to come back at 3pm (it was 2:15pm). We were not the only guests to have that experience that day. Most hotels would have found us a room earlier.

"Fantastic food"
evan1888, 03 Juillet 2016

Visited this hotel today with my partner, it was pricey but the food was good I had goats cheese pizza it was great but to much rocket, she had the vegi noodles which she loved,, all good but pricey ,,,food fast pizza homemade

"Weekend for charity walk"
Skip2071, 27 Juin 2016

Small Hotel, bit short staffed, manageress helping everywhere, room comfy, good amenities, only complaint was that the shower was rubbish, but bath nice & big and was able to soak away the aches & pains of the walk. Bar a bit over priced Restaurant , very good, food hot & very well presented & tasty Big down was Wi-Fi although free was almost non-existent

"If you have to stay in Crianlarich, this will do"
adventurecgn, 21 Juin 2016

Our experience of the hotel was mixed. Room was old and out of date. I could feel the wooden slats through the overused mattress, the bathroom was tiny and the room felt dusty/old. It was clean and serviceable - but frankly, I'd recommend carrying on to the Ewich House -- or stopping early at Inverarnan.

"Quick, perfect stopover for the Caledonian Challenge"
Paulo P, 15 Juin 2016

Support crew for one of the teams doing the Caledonian Challenge (54 mile walk in under 24 hours) stayed at the hotel for a meal and a few (3) hours sleep. Food at dinner was very good (note: last orders at 21:30), and staff were very flexible in accommodating our need to leave the hotel at 01:30 to go back to supporting our team. No mobile network coverage on O2 or EE, but hotel wi-fi was sufficient to communicate with the team.

"Good Hotel, Good location especially for walkers"
marietRossendale, 13 Juin 2016

We had a pleasant stay here as part of a group, the room was spacious ,clean and modern. The village is small but the hotel is a good place as a base for touring tha west side of Scotland ,the train station is only a few minutes walk away., the hotel itself is very comfortable and the meals excellent,if i had one criticism it was the way the waiters had an annoying habit of reaching over one person to serve or remove dishes from the person on the other side I do not blame the young people concerned . it is bad basic training,

"Awesome coffee stop"
LucyBCBarnwell, 06 Juin 2016

We made the journey on day 4 of the WHW to get our stamp and have a coffee and we were not disappointed. Great coffee, outside seating to enjoy the sun. We had a good stop and recharged before heading to Tyndrum. A great surprise.

"Great stay on the West Highland Way"
Wayne C, 06 Juin 2016

My Wife and I plus our small dog stayed here during our West Highland Way walk. Our room was lovely, spacious with a huge bed. The room was absolutely spotless and I really can't fault it. Staff are very friendly and more than happy to help with anything. We ate dinner in the hotel, which was very tasty and breakfast was excellent. The hotel accommodated our small dog but there are restrictions where you can eat and drink, which was acceptable and understandable to us. Perfect for a relaxing break or a stop over if walking the WHW.

"Nice Place"
Stuart B, 04 Juin 2016

I stayed here last night and the the place was very good, the lady on reception, the guy behind the bar and the people at breakfast all worked very hard to make sure I enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and the food was excellent, the location was nice, I would definitely recommend this Hotel. Thank You.

"Fab few days away with friends"
joobles, 02 Juin 2016

Decided to have a few days away with friends back in January and booked this hotel because most other places were fully booked. Wanted to stay in this area as it's a great base to tour Scotland. Wouldn't normally choose a Best Western hotel but.........I will be from now on!!! What a gem of a place. All the staff (and i mean all) were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We were asked about our day on our return to the hotel each evening which was so nice. We all ate well each evening in the dining room. The food was fairly simple but excellent value for money and very tasty. The rooms were fairly basic too but clean and comfortable. Everyone in our party of 6 was impressed with the high level of service we received from the staff. I can highly recommend this hotel......The Best Western directors should be congratulating and rewarding the staff at this hotel for their professional, but most of all friendly and welcoming manner. Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous time.....i'll be booking again soon.

"Bernard"
robforster, 18 Mai 2016

Good hotel with good service. It's in a fantastic location. Just needs a bit of modernising in the rooms. Lovely meal had at the restaurant. You get some road noise in the bedrooms during the night. Perfect base for so many stunning areas and for getting up into the mountains.

"Stopped en route to Oban / Colonsay"
David C, 16 Mai 2016

First floor room, recently refurbished. Good sized, bright room facilities first class. Good welcome at Hotel and lovely meal in the restaurant. Friendly, good service. Wholesome Scottish breakfast and again superb service. Would certainly come back - for longer next time.

"Excellent hotel, delightful staff."
johnWokinghamUk, 11 Mai 2016

We have had mixed experience of Best Western but this was very good. We paid extra for superior rooms and they were very good. Spacious, king size bed, clean, nice bathroom etc. The staff, from the manager down, couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly, helpful. We ate out for dinner but the breakfast was excellent particularly considering we came in just behind a coach party. Would definitely stay there again.

"Not pet friendly"
2girls_and_a_pooch, 01 Mai 2016

We had made this a specific destination on a road trip due to it being 'pet friendly' and some reviews confirming so. As it turns out, we were informed when there only 2 small tables were allowed dogs. These were already occupied by others without dogs and when plenty other seats were free. It was also a small area and more of a corridor for others. Not exactly a pleasant spot to have lunch or dogs to settle. A real shame and misleading as being dog friendly.

"Walkers End Upgrade"
wpsmyth, 01 Mai 2016

We were booked to staying at Glenbruar House B&B, which is attached to the Crianlarich Hotel but at check in we were told that we would be staying at the hotel. Dora at Reception was very efficient, helpful and informative. The rooms was large and comfortable and plenty of hot water provided a hot bath to ease our muscles after a day's walking. Newspapers and relaxing sofas adorn the lounges, and there is plenty of space to chill out. What lets the hotel down is the food. Whilst you can't complain about the prices, presentation and quality heavily hint at the prolific use of microwaves and suggests that the majority of the menu is cook/chill supplies. The staff are lovely, service is excellent, food is a let down. There is a drying room for wet clothes and muddy boots too. We paid £85.

"Below par"
Allan M, 30 Avril 2016

Have struggled with writing this review but felt I really needed to. We booked a family room for 1 night and have mixed feelings on this hotel but leaning more towards poor. 1. Evening meal my wife and I both had the chicken with chorizo bubble and squeak. Top marks can't fault it. My 2yr old child had the fish and chips. I think for a half portion it was maybe to big and the chefs need to make sure there are no bones in it ESP for children. 2. The staff although very friendly you certainly don't expect them all to be foreign in a small rural village be prepared to explain carefully what you want. 3. Here's where the fun starts. Room 213 is right on the front best spacious and tidy but definitely needs a fair bit of TLC be prepared for the noise of passing traffic all night and If your really lucky you'll get to experience the nocturnal habits of the room above you. 4. The double bed is in desperate need of a new mattress so bad I almost slept on the floor. 5. The so called Cooked to. Order breakfast is certainly NOT chef to order. Black pudding like hockey pucks Sausages like rubber Bacon dried and old. We ordered poached eggs each of came 2 snotty barely cooked eggs having the sleep from hell and the breakfast NOT for champions. 6. When complaining the business development manager certainly likes to challenge your complaints trying to tell you that what your saying is wrong even though she actually knows my complaint comes from my personal knowledge as a chef

"Cycling 175 in 2 days"
Karen L, 25 Avril 2016

Hotel was lovely, the staff helpful and accommodating. The decor could be updated in the room that we stayed in but apart from that nothing at all wrong with the place, all good. The food in the evening was delicious. Was not so keen on the 5 am fire alarm though, but who would be? Thanks

"Perfect"
Vincentneville, 24 Avril 2016

Stayed here as part of a cycling group staff were very welcoming and friendly took care of our 25 bikes overnight. Our room was well sized and warm as for the food and choice on offer for such a large group was superb couldn't fault the food or service on the Friday night. On Saturday morning early start and the staff were up and preparing our breakfast before 6am which again was superb thanks again for our wonderful overnight stay.

"Perfect location for what we wanted "
JanWard85, 23 Avril 2016

I have already written a review for the restaurant, so this is just the hotel. We had planned a snowboarding break and needed somewhere to stay, had seen reviews on this hotel and also the Groupon deal they did - sent a few emails back and forth to check availability, whilst they that some, not at the Groupon price, so had to pay supplement (not a bad thing considering the room and the view that we got). The bed was pleasant enough, shower was good. TV had a few problems (but likely the signal is not great when you are out in the sticks). Breakfast each morning was plentiful and there were no issues with the supply of food or drink, albeit one morning we had to sit ourselves as no one seemed to be kicking around. I'd happily stay here again, and may do so when the snowboarding season starts up again later in the year.

"The staff are a credit to the hotel"
Eclipse8472, 18 Avril 2016

We arrived here extremely late after a 20/25 mile hike on the WHW - the main concern is that we would not have anything to eat as the restaurant was due to close at 21:00 and there is basically nothing else around Crianlairch- we barely made it - beyond shattered - we had called the hotel to let them know ahead of time of our situation and the staff on reception/waiting staff and cook held themselves back to allow us to arrive and go straight to the restaurant for a meal in quite a muddy and messy state. This was extremely impressive and I have to congratulate the staff for their understanding. That was the toughest day we had on the WHW, this gesture was appreciated beyond words. The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated hunting/drawing room style. Quite interesting features itself - one of the best ones we had seen decor wise. The room itself as a twin room was fairly small, with some rather awkward placement of the sockets and kettle, which was strange. The bathroom was excellent large with a most welcome bath and shower. Everything was clean and in shape. I'd give it 4 stars mainly for the service we received.

"Top notch"
Kandersteg, 17 Avril 2016

The only Hotel in town and a good one. Very comfortable and appealing public rooms, excellent restaurant and top notch staff at all levels.Breakfast was OK but not always as hot as it should have been and perhaps precooked not to order and it showed. Car parking is opposite the Hotel on muddy ground and could do with being paved and easier access from the road but adequate. What makes the place is the obliging and chatty staff who attended to every request cheerfully and quickly. An ideal location for touring the Highlands and warm amd welcoming.

"Great stay and dancing thrown in!"
Gillian G, 12 Avril 2016

We had a lovely stay in this hotel while walking the West Highland Way. The rooms were lovely, the food great and they were really welcoming for us and the dog. On the Saturday night there was a ceilidh which was good fun to watch and join in! All round a great place to stay.

"Lovely stay - value for money!"
picklemaroo, 08 Avril 2016

We had a lovely one night stay here. The room was very generous in size and clean. We ate in the restaurant which was wonderful - I had the best lamb shank i have ever had. The reception staff was very welcoming and friendly. it was also quiet. Would stay again for sure! The open fire in the restaurant was wonderful! There was a sofa where you could sit in front of it with a whisky!

"Lovely stay!"
Laurenks_xx, 04 Avril 2016

We stayed just one night at this hotel and it exceeded our expectations. We booked a double room but were upgraded on arrival. The room was lovely, it was spacious with a huge bed, one of the best beds ive stayed in! The room was absolutely spotless and I really can not fault it. Staff are very friendly and more than happy to help with anything. Breakfast was lovely too! Perfect for a relaxing break or a stop over into the highlands!

"Disappointing treatment of guests during refurbishment"
2irvine, 03 Avril 2016

we were not told at the point of booking that the hotel would be undergoing refurbishment. This meant that the rooms we admired as we called in on the Friday to check the hotel out ( before staying on the Sunday) were not available to sit in - so we could not use the pretty reading room, bar or dining room! The bedroom had a lovely view of Ben More but the bathroom smelled of damp. The receptionist was lovely but the manager, Kenny. Was unapologetic and made personal and inappropriate remarks such as : "You have a child with you so would not be able to sit in the bar anyway". He also said "I am re-decorating myself and chose a quiet evening and you are on a very good rate." When I asked why he had piled the dozen or chairs from the bar into the tiny but lovely reading room where we would like to sit ( instead of putting them in an unoccupied bedroom) he replied , "I am not prepared to carry chairs upstairs ". His manner was combative and defiant. His attitude was that we didn't need to be informed in advance that the areas of the hotel we had admired just two days previously would be out of bounds. He eventually offered us a full refund which we accepted and we drove on to Crieff Hydro where we booked in last minute at the SAME rate and enjoyed the swim pool, games room, bar, winter garden and outstanding service. We had read such lovely things about the Crianlarich Hotel and were very disappointed . Several other guests staying felt the same and very short changed that weekend. The manager, Kenny, said no other complaints reached him yet we witnessed two other set of guests complaining to his staff. I asked for him personally and found him to be lacking in the "outstanding hospitality" he claims to offer in his welcome pack letter. It was clear he hoped to decorate on a quiet Sunday with low occupancy and that is not my issue. My issue is the lack of notice and the fact he dumped the extra chairs in the pretty reading room plus his lack of apology and personal remarks. Very, very disappointing and a little shell shocked at the manager's reaction. I am still shaking my head at his insinuation that because I am smart enough to book in advance online on his own website and secure a good rate that I should shut up and accept that the parts of the hotel I admired were closed off.

"Murder Mystery weekend break"
springertea, 03 Avril 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights B&B with murder mystery evening entertainment with a superb 3 course meal included . Staff extremely helpful and thank you to Dora the receptionist who facilitated my room request and also enquired it had met my needs when we checked out. A lovely large hotel with lots of wee nooks and crannies to sit with a drink from the bar and relax / people watch Room very spacious and clean and the bed was one of the comfiest both myself and my partner have stayed in ( we were at The Hilton in Glasgow last week executive suite and this was superior!) Little noise heard from bar / other guests which is important to myself . We ate in the restaurant for lunch also . Food was great value for money and great quality . The murder mystery was great fun and we enjoyed it thoroughly . Would recommend and wouldn't hesitate to return !

"Good place to stop over between trains"
Cardiardaith, 02 Avril 2016

Convivial restaurant bar and rooms in a modernised coaching inn a five minute walk from train station. Single room bathroom a bit on the small side and water pressure not great but decor nice and staff very welcoming and accommodating. They arranged an early breakfast as I needed to catch an early train. .Scott the helpful barman ensured things ran smoothly in the bar and was good company to a single traveller like me. Small residents lounge has books to read and a computer to use.

"Will not be back"
Dougie R, 21 Mars 2016

Stopped off here for a meal with my partner and we were really disappointed I had chicken and chirizo and the chicken was as dry as an arabs sandle with charizo buried under a dollop of wallpaper paste that was meant to be mash the only saving grace was the small piece of black pudding which was surprisingly tasty. My partner faired no better she had steak pie well it was steak pie minus the steak basically a pot of gravy with a puff pastry lid and my pet hate frozen chips. O.K. it wasn,t exactly expensive but the standard of the meal and the service was ex exceptionally poor we will not be back.

"Very Pleasant weekend break"
mok90, 20 Mars 2016

Clean, great staff, good food at a reasonable price. Wonderful break. Excellent location/base to other places in this area. Didn't realise there was a train station... Train to Tyndrum then walking on West Highland Way back to Crianlarich. Beautiful scenery.

"Two day break"
charlieboy2009, 19 Mars 2016

Booked 2 nights B&B on the way up to Oban all the staff were friendly and extremely helpful our room was at the front of the hotel over looking the road but there wasn't much noise from the traffic we had a standard double with a large bathroom it was very clean but the decoration was a bit tired. The staff were really friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant both nights the food was excellent and reasonably priced the dining room is lovely with a huge log burner which made it feel really cosy.Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice it was served in a separate room which was like a conservatory so as the weather was gorgeous the sun streamed in through the windows it was a lovely room to have breakfast in.All the public areas were spotless and well maintained we would definitely stay here again.

"Mrs McDonald "
Michelle M, 19 Mars 2016

"lovely break"
Sheila C, 15 Mars 2016

We stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for 3 nights. We had a good experience of being well looked after at this hotel. The staff were very nice and really helpful. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and the facilities were good. The breakfast choices were very impressive, catering for even fussy eaters. You could not fault the choice. We dined in the hotel restaurant for the 3 evenings and were really happy with the food. I liked the way that the staff were able to be genuinely friendly and understanding. We had not expected there to be snow over night on the second night of our stay, not that it made any difference, it certainly added to the amazing views. The hotel was so lovely and warm even through the night our room was so comfortable. There seemed to be a problem with the television in our room but one of the staff managed to get things sorted. Our room was cleaned every morning and I was really impressed. I can honestly recommend this hotel and would stay again if we were in this area again. It was very good value for money

"Ceilidh Night"
John F, 13 Mars 2016

Hotel booked in order to attend Ceilidh dance. Overall hotel was good. Room clean and comfortable enough. You could control room temperature which is a bonus.Food enjoyable and plentiful. Staff dealt with were polite and pleasant enough. However, they lost points by fact that there was a problem with their TV service. This was reported to reception staff on at least 3 occasions with assurances being given that it would be dealt with. It was never dealt with. The last time we reported malfunction we were advised the engineer had looked at TV twice but was unable to sort at this time. We were offered another room (this was our last night so declined). Felt disappointed as the staff should have kept us informed of outcome without the need for us to 'chase up' Perhaps a seemingly small point but it was the lack of customer service (response) which disappointed

"coach party"
sibbo51, 12 Mars 2016

dont usually write reviews, but this hotel i feel deserves one, stayed as a coach party bedrooms cleaned every day warm and comfortable, food is excellent, staff are extremely helpfull who ever owns this hotel shoul be very proud of the staff in this hotel.my wife and i would like to thank the staff for making our stay really worthwhile.

"Lovely classic hotel"
rwbrouwer, 11 Mars 2016

Cosy hotel, nice location. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Cleaners in the morning were loud. Soap dispenser in bathroom was empty. Other than that, service was good. There is free Wi-fi, but the signal is poor, probably because of the location.

"Overnight stay"
SunshineKate, 05 Mars 2016

Stayed on a Saturday night, attended the murder mystery event as part of a work team building away day. Hotel was lovely, staff very helpful and the dinner on the Saturday was fab. Breakfast next morning was amazing, plenty of choice, both hot cooked food and cereal, toast etc was plentiful, staff made sure everyone had a constant supply,of tea and coffee. Murder mystery was great fun, company who did it were great. Hotel is in a lovely spot for going walking. Would go back just with family for a break.

"Pleasantly surprised by how good it was!"
Dilolwa, 04 Mars 2016

We didn't have huge expectations for this hotel having read some of the reviews, but from start to finish we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Our room was spotless, well appointed and huge (as was the king sized bed). There were lovely and unusual Japanese prints on the wall - another pleasant change from the bland art that often comes with hotel chains. The whole feel of the hotel from thick carpets to freshly decorated walls and interesting art work was impressive. The menu looked safe and mediocre but again, the experience improved on the expectation. We sat on a comfortable sofa by a roaring wood burner whilst our food was being prepared. I had a lovely pizza and my wife a delicious steak pie with a good quality Argentinian Malbec for just under £20. The dining room is spacious and welcoming. The waiters who served us, George and Scott, were a credit to the hotel, as was the young business manager who popped in to retune the tv (the whole system was being upgraded). We had a delicious breakfast the following morning in the sunny breakfast room, again the service was excellent. Newspapers are provided free, We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

"lunch stop"
Douglas A, 03 Mars 2016

stopped in for lunch on Friday 26th February, the meet and greet service staff were excellent, the cullen skink soup was fantastic thank you NICK the sous chef, we will return and stay over the next time.

"Top notch 3 star."
johndavis2, 03 Mars 2016

Had a great stay here. War , friendly, loved the dog, the food excellent and plenty of it, especially the pizza, and to top it the room was excellent, super king size bed and very comfortable. Best nights sleep I have had in years. Great for walkers and overnight stays, but not much to do in surrounding area but walking Staff very friendly and willing to stop and chat about your day. I have stayed in worse 4 star accommodation. Will definitely come back,if I'm over this way again.

"Good trip"
Susan C, 02 Mars 2016

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights and we had a lovely time. The staff are fantastic, the food was lovely we had breakfast and evening meal and no complaints at all. The room was big and had everything we needed. I will go back anytime. The only negative thing was the television had no channels, but we later found out it was getting upgraded and would take a further 24 hours, would have liked to be told before hand.

"Nice place to have a bite to eat after a day on the mountains"
Colin S, 01 Mars 2016

Stopped here on the way home from a superb day's hill walking. The staff were helpful and we had a nice meal in the lounge beside a welcoming wood burning fire. The menu was good and our burgers tremendous. Pleasant atmosphere and certainly would consider staying in the hotel.

"Good in parts"
ATK1057, 29 Février 2016

We were well received, once we had found a receptionist. On the face of it the hotel looked well cared for with the reception, lounges and dining rooms clean and well decorated. Our room on the first floor faced the road, making it only a matter of yards from a busy main road with traffic noise throughout the night. The first floor of the hotel had poor carpeting and decoration which belies the initial appearance. Our room was of a good size and the beds were good and clean. However there was paper hanging off the ceiling in a number of places and the small bathroom was entered through tiny brown plywood doors. Fittings were newish, but of the poorest quality .The bath was dangerous to stand in. Wifi was difficult to access and the TV would not work. Why oh why do so many Scottish hotels think it is o.k. for guests to make do with this sort of thing these days? IT IS NOT. On the better side we found the staff friendly and the service was good at breakfast and dinner. The quality of both meals was very good with a good range of items on offer.

"Murder mystery"
Perthgirl2016, 20 Février 2016

Have just stayed at this hotel for murder mystery weekend. Hotel is very comfortable and the food is brilliant. All the staff are very helpful and Paula is especially helpful. The murder mystery experience was great fun and very well done, would certainly do whole thing again

" Dog Friendly Hotel!"
Fiona M, 18 Février 2016

Had a lovely couple of days here. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Even though it was low season there was plenty of staff. Great too that the hotel is dog friendly and we weren't given a shabby room like some hotels would do if you had your pets with you. Food good quality and varied too. Prices reasonable for good food especially when made fresh to order and limited availability choice within the village. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Limited reception on our phones but hotel did provide free wifi. Tv choice was limited too but when you go somewhere like this so you really need tv or mobile phone reception? The pressure on our shower wasn't great but after a day of walking a bath is great to have. I didn't mind the lack of shower pressure as I have been in some other hotels where you'd expect power showers but they live up to expectations. We joined the west highland way path to Tyndrum and caught the train back which is a bonus too. Easy to find linking path and it was a lovely walk especially in the snow. A very short walk from train station to the hotel. A definite return for us and our four legged friends. Views from our window

"GREAT LOCATION, BUT LET DOWN BY OTHER FACTORS!"
Prem K, 18 Février 2016

This weekend I booked a room under the winter offer sales rate for £38.15. I drove all the way from Blackpool, about 250 miles, took almost 4 hours nonstop. After passing massive Erskine bridge, sceneries along the way is breathtaking - specially the Loch Lomand and beyond. Crianlarich road layouts changed, but easily arrived to the hotel. Hotel situated in a beautiful location overlooking snow covered mountains. Enough parking spaces available infront of the hotel. For a hotel with 36 rooms it's enough and it's free also. On my arrival I couldn't find the reception area, then one staffer came and assist me, oh just a desk with computers that's the reception desk! Done the formalities and allocate me a room at the first floor. As a diamond member, no recognition of loyalty or not a single preference given. She showed the way through the stairs, but later I found the lift other side! My room number 212 on top of the conservatory, got a partial view of the mountains. It's a twin room, comparatively very small. I couldn't find the bathroom, when I opened 'wardrobe doors' oh it's the bathroom! Funny!! Bathroom with bathtub, wall mounted toiletry, compared the room bathroom is better sized! Spotlessly clean. Small size wall mounted TV there, but only a handful of channels working. Even no BBC 1. I viewed Premier league match highlights every Saturday nights on BBC 1, but I missed. Further annoying thing is the Wifi, very difficult to connect, but even then not working at all. Maybe remote area? In my room my phone also didn't got signal (EE). I booked a table at the hotel's restaurant for dinner. Restaurant staff very attentive. (Same staffer work as receptionist works here also). I had soup of the day - leeks and potato - and Scottish sirloin steak as main. It's one of the delicious steak I ever tasted! Costs just £22.45 only. Great. Buffet Breakfasts served at the conservatory. I preferred full English, well cooked dishes served by attentive staffers. Tea/coffee, juices served accordingly. Overall good staff, fine location, great food - but no loyalty acknowledgement, small rooms, TV, annoying Wifi made this hotel an average rated. Maybe next time!

"Value "
DM1963, 10 Février 2016

Booked for one night stay. Exceptional value for money and quality of food was exceptional. B&B was booked for £48 and our meal including wine and drinks was £65. Outstanding. Only minor point would be regarding the size of the room. Ours was very small but unsure if all rooms are similar.

"special break made perfect by the staff."
australia20162016, 01 Février 2016

my husband and i booked a 3 day stay inThe Crianlarich Hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary and had a wonderful stay. the staff are so friendly and helpful, we felt very relaxed, the food was excellent, service perfect, made too feel very special when we were given a complimentary bottle of wine and a little note from the staff. we will keep that special note with our anniversary cards.

"Clean and welcoming"
MarcusHurley, 28 Janvier 2016

Being an imbecile I had booked the right day for our stay but the previous week! Luckily, the lady on reception was able to sort it out and gave us a room at the same price. The room was a good size and had a nice bathroom, work desk and plenty of sockets. Wifi was decent too. The restaurant had a nice variety of choices and the food was good value. Staff throughout the hotel were helpful and polite.

"Fantastic staff and stay"

"Burns Night Disaster but................................................."
Annian1, 26 Janvier 2016

My wife and me decided we would enquire as to availability at the Burns Night function back in December having had a great time at the same function three years earlier. On learning there were still tables available we duly made the booking along with some accommodation, a premium room at the southern end of the hotel. Let me say straight away that we had no issues with the room; it was clean and as described. However the same could not be said of the Burns function which in our view was a disaster from start to finish. We were hoping for a repeat of our experience in 2013 but were so disappointed we decided to speak to management. I'm glad we did because the duty manager was a delightful young lady called Paula. She listened to everything we had to say and couldn't apologise enough. She explained that the hotel had been let down too and that she had to organise much of the function from scratch. Anyway, she went out of her way to make up for our disappointment and I can only applaud her for taking customer service to a new level. It would be unfair to say what she did but suffice to say it was well received and unexpected. Another issue which we shared with Paula was with regard to one or two of the bar staff. They were foreign and regrettably struggled with the language. This would probably go unnoticed if they were working behind the scenes but in an environment such as a bar their linguistic skills really do need to be much better. Lastly, an important observation for any beer drinkers who may read this review; there is no real ale available. This was a huge disappointment to me because I had read somewhere that cask ales were available. They do offer Crianlarich Ale which must be a keg beer as there were no hand pumps on the bar and nor did I see any bottle conditioned real ales. This meant I had to settle for lager [Grolsch] which at around £4.40 per pint is not exactly cheap! Anyway, other than an extremely disappointing function the hotel is perfectly fine but my parting memory will be of the excellent customer service offered by Paula, the duty manager.

"Murder mystery weekend."
Garry A, 23 Janvier 2016

Great weekend. Brilliant hotel. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Previous reviews stated "dated decor, needs modernising", RUBBISH! We found it tasteful, homely and in good clean condition. Will we come back? Hell yes ??

"Noisy room"
William S, 23 Janvier 2016

An hour into my sleep I learned (thumping music) that I had been duped into a room right above a very noisy bar. I like ceilidh music as much as anyone but its a poor show that I was not warned of this or given the option at check-in to have another room - whoever checked me in would have known I was being given probably the worst/noisiest room they had. The only redeeming experience was the delightful scottish lassie who was working hard to keep everyone happy.

"Brilliant Weekend Break"
jim h, 20 Janvier 2016

Stayed Friday to Sunday and took in the "Murder Mystery Weekend" and would highly recommend it to all. Hotel is ideally placed in wonderful scenic setting with great road and rail links. Staff were all very cheery and very helpful and our room was huge and immaculate with excellent heating.........snowed all the time we were there!!!! Would highly recommend the Murder Mystery event on the Saturday....very professionally done and a great evenings entertainment coupled with an excellent meal. Brilliant weekend break will, do it again.

"Weekend groupon break"
Sreid24, 17 Janvier 2016

Booked through Groupon and did not have high expectations . However the hotel was excellent. Room immaculate and roomy. Staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. Took part in a murder mystery dinner which was god fun. Would highly recommend this hotel for a weekend break. One tiny thing though .... On room information there was a barcode to scan for a free drink at the bar. Both of us scanned this and added our email details. Notification stated this would be verified by email but no email arrived so we could not claim free drink. Not overly important as we still had a very good weekend .. Just pointing it out for future reference!!!!

"Murder Mystery Weekend"
Alex F, 17 Janvier 2016

Group of 10 booked in for a Murder Mystery Weekend! Great hotel with beautiful surroundings. Very pleasant and helpful staff especially Emily & David . Great food and entertainment on the Murder mystery night. Brilliant fun. Will definitely be back

"Murder Mystery Weekend"
Tartantaz, 17 Janvier 2016

Stayed at this hotel as part of a group of 10 for a 2 night Murder Mystery weekend. Very welcoming hotel, helpful efficient staff, especially David and Emma. Hotel rooms very comfortable, large room well equipped newly refurbished bathroom with excellent power shower, only complaint was the uncontrollable heat in the bedroom even with window wide open for the entire weekend the heat was unbearable. Staff tried to assist by correcting but unfortunately the app used for their heating system appeared to not be functioning correctly. Excellent breakfast and can also recommend the scones:) The Murder mystery performance was excellent and the 3 course meal fantastic great value for money, we will return.

"Great getaway "
kevs65, 16 Janvier 2016

Stayed in other Best Western hotels throughout UK. This hotel however is the best for food & service. Food prices are reasonable, clean & warm rooms. All the staff are very helpful & friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone. As big Arnie says "I'll be back"...

"Good Hotel for winter break"
Chris P, 10 Janvier 2016

2nd time i used hotel as weekend winter break to mountain climb in Highlands, Great proximity to Glasgow airport and Western Highlands to serve the purpose Staff friendly and helpful and overall quality satisfactory I would say we have been twice in quiet period, so can only guess level of services remains when busy

"Second Time Around"
Helen H, 07 Janvier 2016

We stayed at the Crianlarich Hotel in between Xmas and New Year. As we had stayed there the previous year we were a bit apprehensive that it wouldn't be as good as we remembered. However, we needn't have worried! The welcome was warm and friendly from all staff and some aspects of our stay surpassed last year. Afternoon tea was served up every day which was most welcome after having been out walking in the morning. The food served at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The bedroom was large and although it felt a little chilly when we arrived the room soon warmed up (however it should be remembered that it was a particularly wet and very cold few days!). The log fires were a delight and believe it or not it was great fun putting the logs on and keeping the fires burning - so cosy sitting round the fire with afternoon tea and chatting to other visitors. The hotel may not have leisure facilities but quite honestly they are not required! The scenery is stunning and the hotel put on entertainment in the evening which was excellent and it was so nice to see all of the guests joining in the ceilidh and the quiz night. If you are looking for a hotel in which to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life then this is one to stay at. A plus point for us is that dogs are also welcome at the hotel. Excellent value for money. We will certainly be staying here again.

"Christmas Special, was truly special. Massive "Thanks""
Kevcourt, 06 Janvier 2016

Simply Kenny, Paula & all the Staff. If the food alone was the reason I've bothered to write this, it would be suffice. Every meal a delight and how on earth Chef got Leek & Potato soup to be that tasty, is beyond me. The Hotel for our 2nd visit, felt warm & welcoming as before, but it was the Staff that made it for us. Their interaction was appropriate and they catered for the less infirm customers and young alike. Scott gets a mention as a very classy Santa Claus on Christmas morning. To see Zac's little face as Santa approached was a picture. Pam, Max (B Collie) and I had a fabulous time and can't wait to return. Thanks again ;-)

"HIGHLAND HOSPITALITY"
thaddeusLincolnshire, 05 Janvier 2016

We recently stayed in this hotel over the Christmas period and I have to say that the staff were some of the friendliest we have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, more than enough to sustain an army. The log fires in the main room were a welcome sight after a long wet day in the Trossachs. A full afternoon cream tea was delightful. The entertainment of local musicians was enjoyed enormously. Its is sited a short walk from the rail station so is in easy reach of Stirling or Oban. Very reasonably priced fares too. The main rooms are well decorated and furnished, The bedroom we were given was large but in need of some renewal, ie carpet, wallpaper and bathroom doors.. However the room was clean and bedlinen/towels of good quality with frequent changes. The bathroom was large with bath/shower. There was always plentiful hot water.

"Andrei..... oh Dear... what can i say.....???"
whiskyfoodie, 05 Janvier 2016

Well, what a terrible experience we had at the crianlarich hotel when a group of 10 arrived for lunch. I was one of the last to arrive and when i went to the bar and asked Andrei the waiter could i please have a cappuccino, he replied with a very rude "IS THAT A QUESTION OR A STATMENT?? " hmmmm we are in for a treat i thought! After I got my cappuccino we sat for lunch in the lovley big restaurant, Andri proceeded to take the lunch order and make numerous mistakes but in the end we got our lunch- which was also veryhe tomato soup was just tinned tomatos and my friend's cullen skink was a joke. When it was time to leave we asked to split the bill and you quessed it, it was a majour issue for Andri whos instant response was "NO YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID AT THE BEGINING I WILL NOT DO IT PAY ALL THE BILL OR NOTHING!" after more obnoxious ridiculous coustmer service we added up the items ourselfs and left the correct money. NONE OF OUR GROUP OF 10 WILL EVER RECOMEND OR VISIT THIS HOTEL AGAIN WELL DONE ANDRI !!

"Avoid at all costs!!! "
RH395, 04 Janvier 2016

Stopped in for lunch with friends and were greeted by the very rude waiter Andrei! Ordered lunch which was awful! Had the Cullen Skink which had no bits of fish in it, big bits of black leeks and no seasoning in it whatsoever! We had to leave before our friends so asked to pay separately from everyone else which was a complete pain for Andrei as he kept sighing and shouting at us to 'wait' as we rhymed off everything we had for lunch! Overall the service was atrocious and totally out of order and the food was terrible! Safe to say we won't be returning at all and I would recommend not stopping at all!

"Highland stopover"
andycoey, 23 Décembre 2015

Had an overnight stay on the way to Skye. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Lift to the rooms. Room was large and well decorated with good views. Nice comfortable beds with a modern shower / bathroom. Restaurant was nice & we Had a good meal.

"Surprisingly good vegetarian food!"
Antony B, 22 Décembre 2015

Arrived in the dark on a very wet and windy evening - great to be able to park right outside the front door. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Room was very typical of a Best Western-style hotel apart from the very odd wardrobe-door access to the bathroom! Highlight was the evening meal. As a vegetarian I did not have high expectations but the roast vegetable tarte was really tasty and unusual. Service very good although the restaurant was very quiet. Breakfast was also good with coffee kept topped up throughout (which I always appreciate!). Good value for money and would definitely recommend to others.

"A very good hotel"
John D, 14 Décembre 2015

I was in the area for a few days in the outdoors. I was really surprised by the hotel as I am not a fan of the Best Western chain. The staff were very welcoming. The room was warm and very clean. Shower over bath worked very well. The restaurant was very good, with a welcoming fire. Cullen skink and chicken or lambs liver and mash. The cooked breakfasts were well cooked using good quality ingredients (passed the sausage quality test) The Crianlarich beer was ok too. The drying room was very handy for drying clothes after a long day on the hill.

"Not risotto"
Cianna W, 12 Décembre 2015

We stopped in for a quick lunch while driving by, as this was the only option open. The risotto I ordered was distinctly not risotto, but instead boiled white rice mixed with a little bit of [very little flavor] broth. The chicken in it was also quite bland. My lunch was quite disappointing, especially since risotto is one of my favorite foods. (My dad's fish and chips were good, however!)

"Good value hotel"
Antonhu, 05 Décembre 2015

Large room and bathroom, clean enough, comfy beds, friendly, helpful staff. Engaged chef who produces well-cooked dinners and good breakfasts, the latter in a pleasant conservatory. You might just want to give some thought as to how that in-bath shower functions before you start to wash (fine once you've worked it out), and get the staff to explain how the room thermostat works, however!

"Great visit"
Brian M, 21 Novembre 2015

Did a 3 night b&b stay on a groupon voucher. Amazing value. Accommodation was just right and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and committed staff who made our stay so pleasant. Dined on a couple of nights and found was very satisfactory. Highly recommended - already booked a return visit for early next year. Great base for hikers and climbers alike

"If this is the *Best* Western, maybe you should choose another compass direction"
Thomas C, 16 Novembre 2015

Visited in November, room was cold, radiator in bathroom turned off, radiator in room only luke-warm. Room was also incredibly dated, with a humming fluorescent tube main light. Bathroom only had a bath, with a £5 push on shower adaptor, which sprayed water out of the bath when we tried using it. The water also took about 10 minutes of running for any hot to come through. Oh and we were above the bar which was pumping out music until midnight. All in all it was like stepping back to the 1980s and not in a good way. Avoid if possible.

"Great break"
Papacha53, 14 Novembre 2015

Spent 2 nights here on a voucher in a snowy spell with our dog. Basic hotel with comfortable room and with good pub grub. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great base for exploring surrounding countryside including Glencoe and Killin. Would recommend.

"Citroen car clubs weekend"
nicholasjack, 13 Novembre 2015

The entire hotel had been booked for this event and many enthusiasts had come from south of the border for a weekend of socializing, touring, eating and drinking . All were warmly welcomed by the reception staff. our room was warm and comfortable. Bathroom was rather small with a hosepipe shower. not good for anyone with mobility issues. First night dining was buffet style which disappointed some guests but the queue moved quickly and the food was good and nicely cooked. Not much choice but OK.. second night was table service and again the food was good, especially the salmon. The only disappointment was the overcooked vegetable accompaniment. Broccoli should be green and al dente not brown and mushy. Wine was served with both main meals Great value. Breakfasts were more then adequate with fresh fruit, cereals, ,yoghurt and a variety of cooked dishes. We would go again in better weather.

"Good but could have been better"
C6Exclusive, 11 Novembre 2015

Whilst the staff and downstairs of the hotel were great, the bedroom I had was substandard. There was barely enough room for a double bed, single wardrobe and bedside table. The bathroom didn't have a shower, just a bath and the decor was somewhat dated, the walls covered in a green marble 'effect' that looks like something from from the 70's. Basically, it needs modernisation........

"Unfriendly"
The-artist-aka-sir, 05 Novembre 2015

I stopped here for one night on a tour of the highlands. Upon entering the reception I was greeted by a very surly receptionist who looked at me as though I was an idiot whenever I asked a question. The room was clean but cold and the thermostat was a fiddle to operate. I managed to turn up the heating but it would not go higher than 19 degrees. I had left my toothbrush at a previous accommodation but there was no toothbrush/toothpaste in the room. Although, I was given one upon request by the surly hotel receptionist. This isn't really good enough - this is a hotel. The breakfast was ok (albeit very greasy). The evening meal was pub grub standard but not cheap. If you are looking for somewhere with character - this is not it - Best Western have created a generic and bland experience in a beautiful and atmospheric location. I suspect there are better alternatives nearby.

"Amazing Hotel - superb location and great staff"
ruggedscot, 04 Novembre 2015

The BMW Club Scottish region had organised a weekend in Scotland, using this hotel as its base. A great choice was made as this hotel was superb. The hotel staff attentive and the food great all at very reasonable rates. These trips its the hotel that makes it and in this occasion it more than met our requirements. Good food was supplied on both nights and the room comfy and clean. Id have no concerns recommending this hotel to anyone.

"Reasonably priced and comfortable stay"
Bizziebroon, 03 Novembre 2015

Myself and a group of friends visited for the third time this year (annual event). It's a nice enough hotel - friendly staff and good food. The rooms we have had have been very comfortable - the duvets are really warm and the beds nice and firm. Bathrooms appear to be a little on the small side, but that said, there's enough room. The water temperature is unpredictable but the temperature in the rest of the hotel was almost unbearable! Even without the heating on at night and the window open, it was really warm, so the duvets were not required. Nice to see an electric car charging point both attached to the hotel (free for guests I think) and also another one just across the road beside the public toilets. Oh, and there is free wifi!! Will definitely return!

"Overnight stay with my Husband"
RhonaG1047, 02 Novembre 2015

My husband and i were sitting in the house about three weeks ago, i wasn't having a good time of it of late so my husband decided to book us an overnight break to cheer me up a bit!! We went on-line and checked out some prices, offers etc and (goodness knows why!!!) decided on The Best Western Hotel in Crianlarich. We decided on a best western as we have visited quite a few in the past and even if we do not stay overnight we are never disappointed by the food or atmosphere! Boy were we about to discover that they are not all the same!! We were booked for bed and breakfast but decided after we had made the booking and as Crianlarich is rather remote that we would e-mail them and arrange to book a table for dinner, as by the end of the week we hadn't recieved a reply to our e-mail we telephoned they said they had had trouble getting e-mails and apologised and we booked our table! The guy we spoke to assured us that their e-mail system was now fine and if there was anything else just to e-mail, which we did a couple of days later to ask if the hotel had anything on in the way of entertainment as it was a Saturday and not any Saturday it was Hallow'een!! Well unfortunately we got no response to that e-mail either and our break is over and done and we still don't have a reply! We just want to say that we were deeply disappointed from start to finish, the girl at the reception desk on arrival was friendly enough but was to busy speaking to another couple of staff that we were handed our keys, told we were up on 2nd floor and if there was anything else to call on the telephone in our room!! We went up to our room which was fine, large, basic but clean!! We hung up some of our clothes and decided to go downstairs for a drink, the rugby was just about to start so the lounge area at the bar was rather busy so we ordered our drinks at the bar and went through to the dining lounge which was very pleasant with music playing, we sat and finished our drinks then went up to our room to chill out before getting ready for dinner! We were in the room about twenty minutes when the fire alarm went off, so naturally we made our way out only to be told by a member of staff that there was no need to panic as it was only a practice!!!! The poor girl in the room next to us had a towel around her hair and a dressing gown on as poor thing had been in the shower!!! I know you have to prepare and make sure that everyone knows what to do if there should be a fire but to know that this was going to happen and not mention anything at all about it to the guests!!! Then to top it all off we went down for dinner at 8pm to be told we couldn't eat in the dining room as they had a murder mystery night on so we sat in the lounge (no qualms as it was nice but there was no one there, no music, nothing at all for hallow'een i have never been so bored in all my life!! The menu was nothing to shout about either very basic food which really had to appeal whatsoever, my husband and i both had fish and chips which i must admit was lovely at the time but unfortunately we were both really sick later!!! This was truly an experience we will never have again!! And never want to. On the good side breakfast was not to bad and we were served by a very pleasant guy who was attentive but not ott!!

"Excellent hotel"
yesnaby, 31 Octobre 2015

Stayed here in organized rail tour. Lovely friendly and smartly dressed staff, nothing too much trouble for them despite language problem sometimes. Very convenient for railway station. Food excellent at both breakfast and dinner. No mobile phone signal, does not bother me as I hate mobile phones! Wi-Fi OK.

"Great value lovely staff but PLEASE LIGHT THE FIRES !!"
louatnewton, 30 Octobre 2015

Very pleasant hotel which offered great value for money. A great base for a walking holiday and although the rooms are a little dated they were warm , clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and friendly particularly the exceptional Emily who's hard work, cheery manner, thoughtfulness and attention to detail really made our stay. A complete star ! Breakfasts were fantastic, evening menu not so good both in terms of choice and quality but the home made pizzas were delicious and definitely worth a try. Hotel is unobtrusively dog friendly which was a real bonus. There was also great musical entertainment one night with a really talented couple of folk singers. OK moan time...for all the plus factors our one big issue was the lack of a cosy atmosphere in the dining room and lounges. There were 3 fabulous wood burning stoves , packed with logs but not one was lit at any time during our 5 night stay. We queried this five times but to no avail so as the wind and rain battered against the windows we broke on the last night and headed by car to the Drovers Inn at Ardlui simply to see a real roaring log fire and feel some atmosphere. Such a little thing to change but it would have made a massive difference to the ambience of the Crianlarich Hotel which otherwise was lovely.

""Good value for money""
carl_nicky, 29 Octobre 2015

Stayed in the family room with two children , the room was a good size comfy beds and clean. The staff were all really nice and efficient, thank you . Food average for area didn't really expect an amazing meal and it was always ok we ate there twice and the kids loved the pizza, the Crianlarich ale was very good and the Alberfeldy Dewars single malt. Breakfast was great, a good start to the day. We all loved the area lots of stunning scenery and fantastic walks. Good base, We'd most certainly stay here again.

"Was once a lovely hotel and with a little spent on it could be great again. Location good for travelling."
Tracey B, 28 Octobre 2015

On the through road from Perth, Stirling, loch Lomand, Oban, Glencoe etc. ideal stopover point. Hotel has been lovely but in need of updating. Lack of staff. Bar expensive. Restaurant poor. Bedroom ok. Clean and ok for overnight. Make shift bathroom door rubbish and dont see why. Far too warm in room. Breakfast was excellent. Dog friendly. Would use again for a stopover whilst travelling.

"Small, Friendly Hotel"
Richard S, 27 Octobre 2015

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of an organised tour. Room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was compact though large enough to do everything in. The bed was comfortable. Would have preferred local (Scottish) television news rather than the London version on the television. Buffet breakfast was very good with a range of cereals, porridge, fruit salad, yoghurt, croissants with a range of hot food - eggs, bacon, sausages etc. As it was a tour, there was a fixed evening menu - choice of four starters, four mains and four desserts. The choices varied - always, meat, fish and a vegetarian option. Food was well cooked and plentiful. Bar had a small range of lager, a cider and a keg local bitter though did find some bottles of bitter from Mull at the back of the bar. All the staff were very friendly which helped to make this a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

"Comfortable base for touring the area."
fordhamfrank, 26 Octobre 2015

Charming hotel in central position. Large room with all amenities and a great view. Helpful, friendly staff and good highland fayre.I stayed whilst touring the area with a rail tours company and was well impressed. we were given a hearty breakfast to start the day and a fulsome dinner on our return. Nothing was too much trouble and a mixed European team pandered to our needs. My only minor negative comments were the bar prices were a bit high and the WiFi was slow. But this is rather picky and should not detract from a very enjoyable stay

"Absolutely brilliant"
Jayney19682015, 23 Octobre 2015

Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely hotel, very clean and tidy, room was lovely, a bit too warm for us hardy scots ha ha. Staff were great especially the young tall lad that looked like Leonardo de caprio, such a good manner, and the blond girl at breakfast who kept us right, sorry can't remember names, the food was excellent, not a complaint from us, just lovely x

"Pleasant stay"
tiger077, 23 Octobre 2015

Stayed here as part of a Travelsphere holiday. We had a lovely big room at the front of the hotel with a huge comfortable bed and a lovely view of the mountains, bedding however was never changed for the 4 nights we were there and there were no pillow or mattress protectors, something you usually expect these days. The bathroom was adequate but the ceiling was heavily mould stained and smelt very musty, shower good though. We had breakfast and evening meal every day and the variety of food was excellent especially at breakfast, haggis and black pudding every day was great. Quality could be a bit iffy though, for instance first day I had porridge and it was perfect, next day it was so solid it wouldn't come out of the pot and on the third day it was stone cold, I was begining to feel like Goldilocks! Evening meal was generally very good, you had a choice of three different options for each course always varied so pretty good for a tour group. Service quite slow but it didn't matter as there is nothing else to do in Crianlarich but stay in the hotel, the weather not being conducive to taking a nightly stroll, we ventured to the local pub but were the only customers! Hotel bar is ok, quite expensive and staff generally a little confused. Staff in general though very pleasant. Sounds a bit negative but all in all I would recommend this place there are a lot more plusses than minuses!

"BMW Car Club Highland Fling"
Stevie C, 20 Octobre 2015

Huge thanks has to go to Joan and all her very helpful and cheerful staff, nothing was too much trouble and the way they treated us helped to make the weekend. The value for money was second to none, service was first class and the food was beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family. This was a perfect base for the gateway to the highlands, I just hope you get the weather we got. Will be staying there again in the future without a doubt

"We must have just had a poor room"
Martha37_13, 19 Octobre 2015

Reading other reviews I think we just ended up with a poor room, which is a disappointment as we paid for an up grade, I thought this was the best they had. So here is my review, take it with a grain of salt as others seemed to have enjoyed this spot: This is a best western hotel, but should not be carrying the name. I know standards are different from America, but I was surprised to see this in the best western chain of hotels. Room was very small, bathroom was an after thought and toilet was about 3 ft from the person on the right side of the bed with a closet style swing door in between. Shower was either extreme hot, or ice cold, no in between. A bath is your best option. Our bed was quite comfortable and room clean in all areas that I needed (very dusty in crease between carpet and trim next to wall. Loose floor boards under carpet that creaked. We ate dinner at the pub in town so cannot comment on the dining room. Breakfast was typical of other hotels in Scotland where we stayed. Only wifi we found was in lobby.

"A Good Stay"
addlethorpe, 18 Octobre 2015

We liked this hotel mainly because of the staff who were all excellent, which shows good management. The food was of a very good standard as well, and our room was large and pleasant. The location is somewhat quiet, but what a lovely base to explore from. Wi fi signal was poor.

"Always made welcome at this lovely hotel"
Jennie L, 12 Octobre 2015

We come back to this hotel each year for it's relaxing atmosphere and all the beauty of the surrounding area. It is very good value - we particularly enjoyed the Philimari Folk Duo on Saturday night. If you want somewhere clean and warm for some relaxation and good value meals then it's perfect. We recommend it to our friends.

"Good quality comfortable, affordable Hotel"
Barkers706, 05 Octobre 2015

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to the Isle of Skye & were very pleased with every aspect of this hotel. The room was very spacious, very clean, warm with a huge double bed & quality well laundered bed linen. They have a comfortable residents lounge area. The bar area is very small so we tended to have drinks at our table in the restaurant or sit in the lounge. That's not a problem though. The young barman did not seem to understand English very well. We ate in the restaurant & the food was always delicious & the service was good. The breakfast restaurant was very clean & comfortable with lovely views & the breakfast itself was very good although on the first morning we went down about 15 minutes before the end of service & the hot food containers were no longer being heated (you can see wicks underneath that they light but these had all been turned off) so consequently the bacon etc was warm rather than nice & hot. It wasn't enough to cause us to say anything though. The next morning they were all lit & breakfast was much more enjoyable. Good choice of cereals, yoghurts, fruit & cooked food. All in all we really enjoyed our stay & it is somewhere that we certainly stay again if we are ever in that area again & we would recommend it.

"Old hotel, quite dated"
mlhav, 03 Octobre 2015

We stayed here during our walk on the WHW. The hotel is quite old and was my leastr favorite of all the places we stayed. Staff was ok but not very friendly. Room was very dated. The walls seemed paper thin as did the weird bathroom door that offered little privacy. The hotel did offer a drying room but overall I felt like this was the least walker friendly hotel of all places we stayed. The restaurant was ok but the service while friendly was absolutely too slow. It took forever to get the check let alone a second glass of water.

"Great start to a day in the hills"
MrTattieHeed, 01 Octobre 2015

Greta wee Hotel, excellent location within 3 minutes of the train station. We got the sleeper from Edinburgh and arrived just after 8am. Speedy service of a bacon roll and coffee. They held our luggage for us (overnight bag). Joan the GM was great, bubbly and very professional. We also met Paul the Night Manager, again very professional and chatty. While we did not eat the Hotel it looked reasonable, we ventured to the Rod & Reel after climbing (scrambling Ben More). The room was very spacious, triple on suite. Beds were very comfy, only let down on the room side was lack of Wi-Fi that was available in the lobby. Very quiet at night. We had breakfast the following morning which was pleasant. Mind you the sausages were (as others have commented) like leather, the bacon was not much better (there are plenty of decent Scottish suppliers). All in all a good stay, good price, great staff throughout. You get what you pay for on this occasion was not true as we got a great rate...well done!!

"Delightful location"
waimara, 29 Septembre 2015

Great place to stopover when traveling and accepts dogs. Good breakfast, dinner OK but not outstanding , rooms a bit dated. Better service with a smile would help. Good location and delightful scenery.

"Good Value for Money - Service needs to be improved in the Restaurant."
Jamie T, 28 Septembre 2015

My girlfriend and I spent an overnight here in September 2015 and we were really quite impressed with the situation of the hotel and felt that the room with breakfast was good value for money. I would describe the hotel as being "traditional" in the sense that some may argue that the rooms are a bit dated, however, we felt that the decoration was in keeping with the style of building. The hotel was clean and tidy throughout apart from the mass of plants and trinkets that are on display in the restaurant window - not really to our taste... The one thing that really lets this hotel down is the service in the restaurant. Looking at the staff working, they lacked direction and organisation. I don't believe that the staff are allocated a particular set of tables to look after, they appear to meander from one to the next which, I believe, has a negative affect on a diners experience. The restaurant was busy and they did try their best to accommodate everyone. Food was decent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was below average. There is a fantastic selection and the food tastes good, however, the hot breakfast items were lukewarm. If the scrambled eggs were that bit warmer they would have been fantastic! I really wanted to give this hotel 4 stars, however, based on my experience in the restaurant and the lukewarm breakfast, I feel that 3 stars is fair. Thank you for a lovely stay and I hope this review is seen as being constructive.
