Best Western Plus
We stayed here and our room was big, very clean and we overlooked the Marina! Great Restaurant connected to Hotel. Gianni our hotel clerk was very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again! All staff member were very nice and it is reasonably priced! Great breakfast included!
Stopped over for one night here, pleasent enough, but could do with a little TLC. Room tidy but had odd smell to it?? Bathroom quite small, but functional. We had an upgrade, so not sure how small the other rooms would be, not that quiet, but for one night ok.
This is a fairly nice motel to stay at. Nothing fancy but a clean comfortable place to spend the night. The property is very large with several buildings. I stayed in the rear building so it was very quite. There is a restaurant on site but I chose to eat next door within waling distance. Right on Hwy 101, easy to find but the only view is the marina and not the beach. Good value.
Walking distance from the Marina. Good continental breakfast with view of the bay from the second floor, on site lounge. Restaurants walking distance. Clean rooms, pool and hot tub and sauna, great workout area. Friendly staff.
This Best Western was a nice layover for our business trip up north. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small and had the basic amenities needed for an overnight stay. Location is great since it's right off the highway and near plenty of food and gas options. There was a club area but we never ventured over there. The restaurant that is on the property was surprisingly good. The free breakfast was also good.
The hotel is in a great and convenient location. Is it across the street from the Ocean and the marina so a wonderful view. The price was fair and convenient parking. Pleasant and helpful staff. Now the negatives - breakfast upstairs in separate building from room - not convenient for kids, however the view from there is great. The rooms have the bathroom sink in the room and adjacent to the bathroom ... this was terrible for getting up in the morning and getting ready without waking everyone else. Breakfast was good but not great - the usual cereal, make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon - all okay but again, nothing really stood out. Yogurt was in a machine and not working, we had to wait for plates as they had run out and were washing some up. I could have overcome the breakfast but the sink in the room killed it for us with kids. If this doesn't bother you, then check it out.
I was impressed. I had a good time and enjoyed my stay and can not wait to go back. Ask for the third floor room with a view. Do not worry about road noise or the harbor; once in the room I did not hear anything from the outside.
We stayed at three Best Westerns in a row on our trip around OR/CA and this one was the last stay and needed the most work. The room was clean but nothing special, the doors opened to the outside and there parking lot was pretty tight. The biggest suggestion for improvement would be the breakfast. They were still setting up 30 minutes into when breakfast opened. The signage was also confusing since they hosted breakfast in a restaurant space (ie sign says "please wait to be seated" but the sign is for dinner service only. It seemed as though breakfast was understaffed and that they could use at least 1-2 more employees to get them back on track for morning rush. They do have a pool but we did not have time to use it. The hotel is located right on 101, very convenient to anything in Crescent City. We would stay here again.
We didn't plan on staying in Crescent City and only had a few hours to book a hotel as we were heading down south from Oregon to California. It worked out overall. The room felt a bit musty but it could have been because it rained outside plus the location is right in the harbor. I'd say I am giving this hotel a higher rating because of the breakfast. It was in the adjacent restaurant with great views of the bay. I don't know how they would have housed this many people inside a hotel lobby for breakfast. Again, overall it worked out.
The outside of the Best Western was very nice. Parking lot was clean. Nice water feature in the middle of the parking area between hotel and restaurant. The lobby was very nice and updated. I was disappointed in the room. It was smaller than other rooms that I've reserved at other Best Westerns. The bed was uncomfortably soft for my taste. The restaurant had a variety of items on the menu. Moderately priced.
Found this hotel to be basic but okay. We were using it as a steppingstone on our trip on route 1 up the west coast and it fulfilled that function. It had a very handy laundry area which was great for our trip.
Clean, neat, mini refrigerator, microwave, a/c. Indoor heated pool (I did not use), restaurant and bar on site. Free WiFi. Very friendly staff at front desk and also housekeeping personnel were more than willing to accommodate special requests.
The room was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was great. I liked that they had options for vegans at breakfast, as not many people do. The only thing that bothered me during my stay was that the fog horn went off every 6 seconds the whole time we were there, but that isn't the hotels fault. lol.
Convenient stopover along the coast and next to the redwoods. Great beds and wonderful pillows. Nice shower. Very clean. Breakfast area is on second floor with awesome view of the harbor. Full breakfast offering.
Room: 1 king bed on the ground floor A four night stay on a trip to visit the Redwoods. The Inn is located on Highway 101 and across from the marina. You can hear the sounds of cars driving by from your room. The rooms face out to the parking and you can hear people walking by and the sound of cars in the parking lot. Keep your curtains closed if you want privacy. The room offered a desk with a chair, two nightstands, an easy chair with an ottoman in the corner by the bed, floor lamp, microwave, a mini fridge, a dresser and entertainment center with a flat screen TV. The bathroom was a little small and the sink was not in that room, but just outside the door. A good sized room that appeared to have a new carpet and furniture. The third floor features rooms that face an interior hallway and are hotel rooms more then the lower level motel rooms. The Inn offers some nice features like a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness center, ice machines, laundry room and vending machines. A separate building offers a restaurant and bar. You can hear people at night talking and making noise in the front of the building. Breakfast was offered on the top floor of the building, which has views of the marina and the Inn. Items included were hot and cold items such as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, make your own waffles, oatmeal, fruit, bagels, etc. You can hear the sound of water running from the other rooms and the flushing of toilets at night. A few restaurants are within walking distance of the Inn if you do not want to drive. The B. W. Northwoods Inn offers a good value if you do not mind the sound of cars at night, or the noise from the restaurant.
This Best Western is right on HWY 101. The breakfast was excellent in the morning but the room was not at all clean. It had a small vanity and the lighting was poor. The beds are super hard providing a nice backache in the morning. The sink faucet as loose and could be pulled up from the sink. We smelled exhaust from cars parked outside the rooms. The shower was OK. My white socks turned black from the carpets.
We stayed here for two nights (8/18-8/20/18 room 229) while visiting the Redwoods National forest. It was a good location for that and was very close to the beach. The exterior was OK, it needed some upkeep, our room was much better than the exterior indicated it would be. The room was good sized, clean and quiet. The bath was small but functional. There is a sink outside the bathroom. The audio on our TV stopped working the first night, the next morning we found out that is a common event and fixed by unplugging the cable box for a few seconds. There is plenty of parking but the parking lot is laid out in a confusing manner, watch out for the one way sections. Housekeeping did a excellant job . The breakfast (served on the second floor (there is an elevator) of restuarant in front of the hotel was the worst we have ever had at a BW. The first day they ran out of food (ex.yogurt, peanut butter),and silverware, the tables were not cleared quickly and the coffee was full of floating grinds. The second day the tables were cleared quicker but they still had issues running out of food and with the coffee. We thought it was more of a basic BW than the typical BW plus. Not sure we'd stay here again.
Front desk service was disappointing. The front desk guy issued me a room already occupied. Upon returning to the desk, he was perturbed with me about his mistake. No apologies. Room was trash. Broken curtain, chipped up table, door jam split, musty odor. I stayed at 3 other Best Westerns on my vacation. Nothing bad to say about any of the others, but this one. Rating should be a 1, but people tend to think 1's are customer's over-reactions. I'm not overreacting. I won't be returning. By far the most expensive room on my trip, and by far the worst room. Corporate would only issue a partial-refund. Super disappointed about that too.
The front desk attendant his name is Robert was excellent and very professional and helpful. He was there at our last stay, he was very nice then. We would recommend a promotion as he is an asset to your company, Thank you again
This hotel was ok but I probably would not recommend it. The room size was ok but the bathroom was very small, with a small countertop and sink located outside the bathroom. It felt very cramped, plus the bathroom faucet was not attached securely to the countertop. The best part of our stay was the free breakfast. It is located in the restaurant area which is a spacious room and there were many options. The location is very convenient, right on Hwy 101, but our room was in the back and it was quiet.
The receptionist was friendly and efficient on arrival. The room was large and clean with a view over the harbour. There is a choice of restaurants within a 10 minute walk in the harbour area. Breakfast was good with a large choice of cold and hot items.
I came here because of the offer of breakfast and the pool, because we were going to visit the Redwoods. It was a good hotel, Nice pool. Great Breakfast... We enjoyed staying there, and the price was good as well.
The hotel is perfect distance from the beach! The breakfast was awesome and the restuarant on the property was family-oriented with tvs and a pool table. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We will stay here again!
We traveled buy car from Southern Oregon, Medford to get out of the smoke to go camping the day prior to staying at the Best Western at a beautiful campsite with tall trees in the Redwoods. Then we arrived at your hotel for a two- night stay. We went to see the black sand beach, went to see the Avenue of Giants, it was great! We ate at a very good restaurant nearby the hotel, and got a nice ride in the limo which my four-year-old daughter really loved! Chris the manager there does an exceptional job and I'm glad that I got a chance to talk with him. Thanks again. Dan
We had the family room with about 700 sq ft of space. Huge TV. Two queen beds plus sofa bed. Very comfortable stay. Decor a bit dated but the extra space makes up for it. The only down side was the musty odor on arrival. It went away after AC got turned on for a while. Plenty of parking around building structure so getting in and out or forgetting things in vehicle is just a short walk from room. Friendly staff makes you feel welcomed. Free breakfast is on second floor of onsite restaurant which provides panoramic view of Crescent City Harbor. This location provides easy access to popular hiking trails in the redwoods. It's a 15 minute drive to Damnation Creek Trail head. 20 minutes to Howland Hill Rd. 5 minutes to Battery Point Lighthouse parting lot. During low tide, you can walk to the lighthouse, just observe the tide schedule so you won't get stuck. You can also see seals at the harbor which is a 2 minute drive away.
We stayed just one night on a spur of the moment trip. The hotel is centrally located. Close to the Marina, beaches and town and attractions. The room itself was clean as was the property. It seems to be a little dated but nothing bad. Blake was pleasant enough at check in and gave us good directions and information about the hit breakfast that was included. (we didn't eat it because we slept too late and missed it. It ends at like 9:30am) The thin walls are something to be aware of.. Out neighbors had several children and were very loud. You can hear everyone walking down the hallways, voices carry and doors slam very hard. When standing in the room you can see the hallway through the framing of the door (perhaps some good weather stripping would help). The towels are sort of dingy but I think again it just goes with the hotel being a little old. They were clean just need to be replaced in my opinion.
This place is really nice, 3rd floor room with a harbor view, bed was a bit firm but ok, breakfast was fantastic with lots of options. The restaurant/bar onsite was a plus. Will definitely stay here again.
Everything was pretty average and what I expect except for a couple of things. The Beds and the carpet are way old, there's too noisy on the corridors and also the breakfast time is way to early. At least it should be until 10am!
We arrived after 6 pm to find that our rooms were still not ready. The General Manager offered us the option to put our luggage in the room, when I gave her a concerned look, she assured me that nothing would be rushed and the high level of quality would be met. Now, they were at 100% capacity, as well as being short staffed, but as I pointed out to the General Manager, finding a potato chip on the floor is a sign that minimum standards we're not met. What is worse, during our 2 night stay, it remained there. They did take 20%off the bill, but it was still overpriced for the quality. Traveling companions in different rooms discovered hair on the sheets and towels upon check in. The hotel is in dire need of a remodel. Some rooms have been done, but the attention to detail is lacking. There are plenty of non-chain hotels to check out (one is a few doors down)....think twice about this property.
The hotel falls below expectations due to poor internet service, not very trained receptionists and not very attentive housekeeping. Breakfast area was not available during the day and evening. Dirty plates were common at breakfast.
Bathroom was extremely dirty with lots of black fungy. Did not dare to touch te door; full of black fungy dots. Corridors carpet was dirty. During in and outchecking, the assistants of the office were at the same time answering the phone. Breakfast was not sufficiently complemented.
Overall, this hotel isn't the most up to date in terms of carpeting and furniture; however, it makes up for it with the excellent service, easy access location, pool, and food options on site. There is a restaurant / bar on site. The bar is on the first floor and the restaurant is on the second floor allowing families that don't want to be near the bar a separate seating location and folks that want to have a more low-key dining experience an option on the first floor. The staff were friendly, the restaurant food was good, the complimentary breakfast was fantastic.
Clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Room was very large. On site restaurant as well as another restaurant next door. Small indoor pool. Our room was in the building farthest from the road so it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Upon arrival staff was very helpful and very pleasant - room was clean, had dinner in restaurant - good food, at front desk they had hot choc., tea and coffee 24 hours, enjoyed a tea after dinner. Breakfast was large assortment, only missing tea bags. Checking out the young lady at desk went out of her way and gave us a map to the redwood. She was very helpful and pleasant.
Friendly front desk staff was so welcoming especially after a long drive along the Oregon coast (we checked in after 1am so I forgot his name). Heidi, Natasha, Chang and Loyd were great and attentive during breakfast. Room was a little worn -- towel, shower curtain and sheet all had holes. Great Staff but too Pricey for Holey Accommodations!

I stayed in crescent city for a week tried out a few different hotels/motels in the area. Best western was by far the best one we had chosen. The only down fall was the bed was a bit hard everything else was great. They have an indoor pool , hot tub , sauna and fitness center!!!!!! Nice views in their free breakfast room. Very nice set up we enjoyed breakfast , they have everything you can think of. Breakfast gal Natasha : kept us happy helped us when we had a few questions even helped with directions. Kept small talk, not just with us buta bunch of tables around us. My husband and I had a great stay. We will be staying again when we make our way back to this beautiful town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again to the beautiful team at BEST western
Friendly service, decent accommodations and great breakfast served by an awesome crew: Natasha, Cassie, and Chang. The people are nice and genuine which made our stay very pleasant and satisfying. Standard hotel accommodations were clean and worth the price.
From the moment we walk in the the door were treated rudely, Becky, the receptionist, was very snippy almost as if we were making her day terrible for showing up. After a few moments of talking with her I told my wife, maybe we don't want to stay here. Becky said its past the cancellation time we will still charge you. We went discuss weather to stay or not and the next guest came up and she was equally rude with him and he left. We disided to stay. The room was noisy, the curtains were ripped, the water for the shower was cold and the continental breakfast we were supposed to get at 6:30 am wasn't ready, not a thing was out not even fruit. If this was the first Best Western we stayed at there would not be a second. In the past 30 days we stayed at 20 different Best Western's and they were all wonderful. This one was the hotel from hell.

Very disappointed in room. Wires hanging down from window. Pool hyperchlorinated to the point you couldn't enter the building without your eyes burning. Internet very slow. Best part was the location across from the harbor. Bed was uncomfortable I felt like there was a hard wire hitting into all of my back. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was good.
We have stayed at this Best Western numerous times and every stay is better than the last. The rooms are very clean and well equipped. The complimentary breakfast is fantastic with selections to meet most any taste. There are always enough staff around to help and they are very friendly. There is a restaurant and lounge on site and numerous others close by. Great property for all types of travelers.
This hotel was ok, but nothing to shout about. We would not stay here again. The rooms are dated and not the most comfortable. The rooms were noisy. It was convenient to the beach and harbor. The breakfast was good with many options and nice space to get around. Our rooms were behind a wall which blocked our view of the harbor. Maybe you could pay more for a view room. There was a family that had to run up and down the walkway outside our room which shook the whole room. Our second day was better once they left.
Some rooms have a view of the harbor and the ground level rooms can be accessed from the parking lot. Our room was very nice with microwave and refrigerator although we could hear people walking around upstairs. There is a fitness center and pool. All the staff we dealt with were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and the breakfast area were very good. If you walk across the street from the hotel there is an interesting harbor area with walking paths and fishing boats in port and information about the tsunami that wrecked the harbor area before it was rebuilt. Our stay was very enjoyable.
We were told this is the best Crescent City has to offer.....I think I would do some checking. Initially staff at check-in were just a bit "surly". Sleep quality was poor at best, absolutely no soundproofing between rooms. We had a significant gap under our door which was brought to the attention of staff on our first day.....no action. We brought it to the attention at check-out and of course they said it would be dealt with....I cannot imagine this has not been brought to their attention before. Nice breakfast and reasonable location. They were full every night so maybe this is the best Crescent City has to offer....
You always know your going to get a nice room at Best Western but if you upgrade to a view room at this hotel you'll get a suite with an awesome view of the harbor. It was truly one of the best rooms I've ever had at a Best Western Plus. We were in room 330 and it had a wrap around corner window and appeared to have been recently renovated. Very clean and quiet and had a great breakfast including BACON. One of the best hotels on our coastal trip.
Very nice hotel with many features - indoor pool & hot tub, exercise room, laundry room, comfortable rooms and a cool lobby. There's also a separate cafe which doubles as the breakfast buffet room in the morning - buffet is included in the room price. On the 2nd floor of the cafe is a nice steak house with ocean views.
This is a nice newer clean hotel. The staff is very nice. There is an onsite laundry room, a refrigerator and a microwave. The hotel is easy to find close to the water and there are restaurants close by.
Have stayed at a lot of hotels, this was not the best, had to sleep on the far side of bed, the side near the light was wore out, needed two chairs, only one, big deal getting second chair. The restaurant for me was ok, not great, but my son got sick from the gravey. I hope the hotel reads this and changes to a better place to stay. BUD CARTER, TEXAS
We stay at Best Westerns hotels because they meet a standard we expect when we are traveling. That being said, sometimes the expectations have been met and and not a lot more. That sums up this hotel. Clean, accommodating, decent breakfast (coffee was lacking), good front desk help. Nothing particularly exciting nor memorable about our stay here. Were it not for the Best Western points we scored, we might have considered another hotel.
I had an amazing stay here in crescent city. I was here just in time for nice weather and pretty sunsets. It's in a great location close to the beach. Heather at the front desk was very helpful and nice with directions and information. The pool was great , good temperatures. They have a big full hot breakfast I had a complication with Cassandra that I had even asked her what her name was. She was straight rude made me want to take my food and leave. The other employees in breakfast such as Natasha and a younger guys were helpful, kept the food stocked, the coffee going. Anytime I said I had a question Natasha or the younger guy(which I was unable to get his name) was right there to help, I was grateful she & he were nice! She also had asked me how my stay was as well as asked me to go on trip advisor to do a review on my stay and on breakfast! All in all I had a good stay with my mom & my daughter here in crescent city.
Very convenient, inexpensive and has all the amenities that a traveler can want. Enjoyed the indoor pool and sauna with each visit. Close by restaurants make it a worthwhile stop. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. They had computers in the lobby that we put to good use.
Came down coast and wantwed to take flatlander in-laws to redwoods. Found excellent BW in Crescent City. Good breakfast, nice area, good beds, and an excellent price. Rooms were clean and on ground floor.
We walked around the area and there isn't much available in Crescent City .old, dingy looking motels..the one with a AAA rating looked pathetic. There is a newer one - A "Choice" hotel-but due to their poor quality of rewards points I won't stay at their's unless i have too. But truly this hotel is great. It's new looking, very clean, comfy beds and helpful staff. I've read some comments about small rooms and outside doors-so I recommend the middle or back building for inside hallways and quiet. From what I saw the rooms looked spacious back there. I didn't use the wifi, so can't comment on that. The breakfast room is large and clean with the usual hotel offerings. While I can't get excited over that-I don't care for a big breakfast anyway. They had juice, low-fat milk and cheerios-so I was happy. We did initially have a room issue, but it was handled to our satisfaction. Kudo's to Robert-the front desk manager for customer service above and beyond. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
We booked this hotel because we needed a hotel in crescent city just for one night and this had the best star rating. We had low expectations but the hotel certainly lived down to these and beyond. High points Using the restaurant and one meal arriving 15 mins after the others along with a complimentary desert. Hair in the shower that wasn't ours No water to the basin Plumbing so loud it woke you up when the room above used the bathroom A fridge that sounded like it was about to explode even when it was supposed to be switched off. We didn't complain because we were very tired and having cleaned the bathroom ourselves we didn't want have to do it again in a different room.

We came across this hotel driving home along the coast. We had planned to stop in Eureka but we didn't like looks of the town and pushed on. Glad we did. This hotel is right on 101, clean, comfortable, and perfect for family of 4. The only issue was internet in our room would not work, thinking it was due to being in back building. Breakfast included and good. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable of area.
thurs evening check in: when we arrived in our room, we noticed one bottle of lotion, two bottles of conditioner, none of shampoo. we walked to the lobby and asked for some shampoo. we tried to get online but were unable to. we walked again to the lobby and voila, instant wifi. we returned to our room and our connection was wonderful. friday: went next door to northwoods for breakfast. set up was nice. bottled water, small cartons of soy milk, pastries, bagels, instant oatmeal, fruit salad, waffle maker, juice machine, coffee. however, the yogurt machine had no indication what kind of yogurt, i.e., flavor, nutritional information, etc. hubby is diabetic and counting carbs is required, so the yogurt was not an option. the hot entrees: bacon was in bits and pieces; eggs looked like they'd been thru a grinder - bits and pieces - bacon and eggs were cold. we were gone most of the day for my outpatient surgery. on our return we found a new handsoap at the basin, but no bath soap at the tub. the pen left in the room was dry / out of ink. we walked to the lobby and asked for bath soap and a pen. we thought it was the bldg we were in, but actually, it was the room we were in that we had no wifi on cell phones, tablet or laptop. since i'd just had surgery that morning, another walk to the lobby was not possible. very inconvenient not being able to catch up on email and take care of business. saturday: again, no wifi. went to the lobby and logged on with no problem. then when we walked into our room we lost the connection. robert came over from the lobby and spent 30-40 minutes troubleshooting with the internet service people, to no avail. the best solution was to step into a room around the corner and do some work there. we spent abt 20 minutes there and returned to our room without finishing what we needed to do and what we would have liked to do. robert did discount saturday night's rate, but the inconvenience of not having wifi two days in a row was difficult to deal with and i'm still catching up.
The room seemed a bit small for a Best Western, but I think it just simply contained too much furniture for the allotted space. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. My advice would be to eliminate some of the furnishings.
This is the third time we have stayed here and I like it more each time. Very convenient right on 101, not far from the Redwoods. So close in fact to the Trees of Mystery that we had to spend a little extra time enjoying breakfast waiting for it to open. VERY good breakfast. Nothing wrong at all here. wouldn't hesitate to stay again anytime..
Without fail, this property never disappoints. The quality of the room, food, facilities and staff are always tip topper. We visit Crescent City twice a year to meet with family and we will never consider another property.
We had a great experience with the hotel and the restaurant. Clean, great staff and accommodations. Oh, and the views from the room and restaurant you'll have to see yourself. Beautiful! The Sunday brunch was the best buffet we had ever been to and I mean it. The presentation, quantity of food, quality of food and staff were all outstanding. Simply amazing!
the staff were efficient . We had a problem in our room and the staff were very quick to fix it. The restaurant was very good for dinner and they also served the breakfast which was also very good. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed here just recently. The roo. Was clean. It was not full but we were put in back so no view at all. I booked through a third party so I couldn't get points. I did not know this. It was still pricey but I thought I'd get points. The pillows were rocks and my husband couldn't sleep. Also as we were following asleep two families or one big one were checked in on either side of us. They were very noisy and disturbed us that night and then again in the morning. It was like they were in our room. There is no isolation between rooms.
Clean rooms, good bed quality, great location - across the from the harbor, best breakfast around. Fun listening to seals barking at night, kind of calming. Love happy hour at the pub and the upstairs restaurant is very good with excellent servers and food presentation. One of the best prime rib dinners I've had in a long time.
They did a great job. Food was good. Room was awesome. Pool was nice. Staff rocked it. Express checkout was hugely helpful. Close to the redwoods, the beach, and a light house. Wonderful quick vacation. Thank you.
Nice hotel/motel. More hotel but outside entry so some would consider it a motel. Rooms are very nice, beds are more than comfy after many hours on the road. Extra blanket and pillows in the closet. Tons of extras to make you feel at home. Great starter breakfast in the morning. Quiet location on highway 101 near the harbor.
This hotel wasn't what I was expecting. The pictures made it look quite different. The bed was uncomfortable and obviously an older mattress. The restaurant was expensive and the food was mediocre at best. The part that bothered me the most was the continental breakfast in the morning. Unless you arrived when it was open, they were out of food. We were there for three mornings in a row and arrived earlier each day only to find no food. Also, the kids ran rampant and were touching food on the buffet with there hands and there was no hotel supervision to take care of this. It was gross.
We booked two nights in this hotel while visiting the redwoods expecting to get a Best Western standard hotel. We were not disappointed. the hotel met our expectations in most aspects. However, we have to comment on two setbacks that should not happen in such a place. First, it seems the team of housekeepers is not sufficiently experienced. Our room was not serviced properly and coffee sachets were not replenished. We hope it is not a managerial saving step because we fail to see the difference between booking 2 nights in advance and in sequence. Anyway, the reception that was very kind and cooperative in the first place was quick to help us. Second, the organization of the dining hall for breakfast is very poor. The staff does not come in time to prepare the room and the food. They let food items run out and they should be urged to replenish (again, is this a managerial saving move?). Why an overall good place, should leave customers with some bad feelings is beyond my apprehension. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again if I ever come again to this area. Therefore I do not hesitate recommending it.
Very clean hotel. Seems to be recently updated. After a week in California this is the best bargain I've had in California. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying in this hotel if visiting Crescent City, CA.
My room had a huge gap in the door that made it seem like people outside were in my room. Room was ok but a bit dirty. Breakfast was aweful, dirty plates and forks. I had to go through a few before I found clean ones. The guy serving looked like he wore his pajama bottoms to serve. There was another guy but only saw him once.
One of the best best western hotels anywhere in the US!!!! I've spent over 900 nights at best western across the US and this one is hands down one of the greats !! Excellent price for the room ,cheap hotel price ,luxury stay !!
We stopped in Crescent City for two nights while we were going to the Jedediah Smith Redwood Forest. This hotel was only about a 15 minute drive to the woods. It's located right across the street from the oceans. You wake up to the seagulls and the sound of the calm waves in the ocean. This hotel is perfectly located close to many restaurants along their piers. The front desk agent that checked us in was very friendly and gave us a list of things to do in the area. Breakfast is served in the mornings too. I'd stay here again when visiting the redwoods.
This motel is not a hotel. It compares with Super 8 and Days Inn. It is not worthy of a "plus". The location was good. The room was clean and looked nice, but the curtain was torn and the beds were lumpy. The clock-radio's time was off by several hours, but a woman at the front desk was helpful solving that problem. We were on the ground floor and footsteps and musical bass reverberations above us were quite loud; obviously no insulation between floors. Other than the waffles, the hot breakfast was unappealing. The plates were coId, like you would expect to see at a salad bar, and promptly chilled the "hot" foods. I don't know how they managed it, but the powdered scrambled eggs were actually tough. The sausage patties looked like soggy pieces of cardboard, so I didn't bother to taste one. The bacon was soggy-greasy and didn't taste very good. The coffee was mediocre, just barely okay. Our second morning breakfast experience was, well, quite an experience. In less than 10 minutes, we were interrupted three times by staff: twice by the same woman and then by a man. All three times, our conversation was interrupted by a staff member wanting to know if our breakfast was good. Twice, I told the woman everything was fine. The third time - really??? - we got up and left. Our job as customers should not have to include training your staff not to be intrusive. It really put a sour note to the end of our stay.
They had a good location near the water. The pool and hot tub were great to use after a long day of hiking. The breakfast was one of the better ones I have had throughout my travels. They had hot dishes (bacon/sausage/eggs/waffles) along with lots of fruit, cereal, and yogurt.
Nice people, clean facility, comfy beds. Good breakfast. Close to beach, and lots to do. Pool and spa was nice and clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Good location, nice restaurant and lounge, kind of spendy for off season
We drove the lovely, rugged Oregon coast and needed a place to stay for the night at the first town in California along the coast, which is Crescent City -- home of Pelican Bay super-max prison which you see on your right as you head south. We checked out another hotel up the road, which was awful, so we drove to the Best Western Plus. The check-in was smooth. The room was modern, although it could use some touch-ups in the bathroom, as there was some paint chipping. Also, there was some kind of chair in the bathroom apparently to assist seniors or disabled in bathing, which I had never seen before. All in all, it was a perfectly adequate night in a town just north of the redwood forests.
2 different rooms and good quality services. They moved our bags for us from room to room. Nothing got missed. Winter rates were fantastic and the weather was great too. A Christmas Party next door made the parking lot over crowded and non of the party goers could read because the sign said "Hotel Guest Parking Only" Another sign said, "Restaurant parking in rear." Oh well.
This hotel was one of the most spacious Best Westerns I have ever stayed at. Our room was massive. It was an amazing room for a low price. We were a little disappointed that we missed breakfast because it ended at 9 and we showed up at 9:30. We were not informed of the breakfast hours when we checked in. There is a very good restaurant on the property which was very convenient. The jacuzzi and sauna were great. We would definitely stay here again.
This hotel, located on the main drag of Crescent City is very convenient and well situated. The front desk staff is very efficient, friendly, and professional. ItThe hotel itself has undergone a recent renovation, but the bones of it are old and the downstairs rooms in the front are noisy when people are walking or RUNNING (as they were the night we stayed) on the upper exterior deck/hallways. The interiors are pleasant and the rooms we've stayed in (several times over many years) have all had very comfortable beds. The amenities are and have always been in working order. The bar is very good, and they currently have a great bar tender. The breakfast is nothing to rave about. Standard fare for Best Western or any other chain hotel. It fills a hole in the morning. We will be back because it is very convenient for what we are in Crescent City, CA to do.
Very nice room, this is the only place I stay at when I'm in Crescent City. Breakfast is worth price of admission. Warm chocolate chip cookies would be a great addition to check-in. It is always nice to listen to the Harbor Seals barking in the distance.
This is one of the nicer hotels we have stayed in . We had a king suite that faced the ocean. The view was amazing, the room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The shower handle was a little messed up and the light didn't work on the left side of the bed, but otherwise, no complaints.
The staff was very friendly if a little too casual in appearance, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom very basic. Breakfast was almost cold with no staff in sight but dinner was excellent with very good service.
We had the best room we have had in a long time. The room was way more than what we needed - full kitchen etc. Our entire family could have fit in the shower - delightful !!!!!It was very clean and quiet. Would totally go back if in the area.....great value for your money. I'm sure the rates are much higher in the summer.
This was a return trip for us. We stayed 4 nights and found everything we needed and more (no valuables to put in the safe) Rooms are quiet, staff was very available and helpful. housekeeping up to snuff, restaurant experience great. We ate there twice and on the other nights chose a less expensive option. Location is very handy, the view of the marina is sweet. On our last trip there was no elevator, but they added that and we appreciated it as we prefer an upper floor. ,
very friendly, clean room ,everything in working order.Breakfast was very good and nice friendly young men as cook and server.Very clean restaurant.Friendly staff on arrival, chocolate chip cookies.Ate in restaurant for dinner very good and generous portions.
The staff in this location are all amazing. Many rooms upgraded and great breakfast. Good location right on the 101. My only complaint is some of the rooms are older and have dingy bedspreads. Internet has always worked great in this location except for my most recent stay. I can't say enough good things about the staff, really great crew!
Better than usual free breakfast. Third floor rooms new, large, big marble bathroom with huge shower. Restaurant on property very good although that night was a temperature problem--everything arrived lukewarm or cold.
This is a great hotel. I am always satisfied with the Best Western hotels I stay at! reasonably priced, good continental breakfast, and always has professional and kind staff. I check the rooms for quality before I unload any luggage into my rooms, and this is one of the cleanest rooms I've stayed in!
nice hotel. Handicapped rooms have only one bed, and those rooms are the only ones with "comfort height, toilets. Regular rooms toilets are very low and there are no grab bars by the toilets or in the tub/shower. Laundry and indoor pool are nice amenities. Free breakfast at restaurant. Good Harvest next door to the north is a great reataurant, especially for vegetarian and gluten free options!
I was pleased with staying at the Best Western in Crescent City. My room was very quite away from the highway. They are renovating the building I was in so the hallways were being worked on. The only thing I want to mention is the internet connection kept dropping every few minutes. Otherwise everything else was okay.
Was very pleased with our service of the staff and the quality of the food especially in the new restaurant Knollwood. Will definitely stay at this Best Western if we passed through this area again .Thank you Best Western for making our trip pleasant
Stayed here for one night and was 'wowed' by this property. Beautiful room, gorgeous grounds and right across the street from the beach! We ate at this property's restaurant and was pleasantly surprised for both breakfast and supper.
We were planning on staying only 1 night, but we liked the area so much we ended up staying 3. Hotel was very accommodating with our extension.Great location, friendly staff, clean room. Close to Redwoods National Park. Close to beach.
August 28 and 29, 2017 - After driving down the Oregon Coast, we stopped for two nights at the Best Western Plus Northwoods Inn. We arrived around 7pm; just time enough to check in, get settled, and have dinner. This is a fairly large Best Western Inn and rooms are located in several buildings in addition to rooms in the building where registration is located. Generally, we prefer to be on the first floor in the room where registration is located and close to the breakfast, pool, business center, and laundry. However, we were given room 257 in the building across from the main building. That was fine. We had to take our luggage from the car and put it onto a cart to take to the 2nd floor of our building. Getting the cart through the doors on the second level at the hallway was a little challenging. Then we had to push the cart through the hallway, out the other doors, onto the balcony and down to our room 257. It was worth the challenge because the room was bright and clean. The beds were comfortable, the shower was sparkling, the TV was great, and the carpet was clean. The next two mornings, we walked over to the breakfast, which was excellent. The same breakfast area also is a sports bar/restaurant during dinner hours. We looked at it on our first night but decided it was too loud. On our second night, we used the laundry, which was very good with plenty of folding space. The hotel is convenient to the Redwood National Park area. We would stay again.
We had a suite on the third floor with a view of the harbor. The room was very large and roomy; the bed was very comfortable. What was surprising and wonderful about this suite was the bathroom. Very roomy with a walk-in shower large enough for two. A walk-in shower is very appreciated by people with mobility issues. Also, this hotel had an elevator.
I stay in Best Westerns all the time and find them generally fairly consistent from the furnishings, to the breakfast, to the upkeep. I think of them as a safe bet, but this one didn't work out. I was there for three nights on business. My room had a peculiar smell, like house paint but not quite, and came with its own supply of both house flies and mosquitoes. Bummer.
Coffee maker did not work, TV did not work and toilet would not flush. Called front office to let them know and they said they could not do anything about it. Unplug TV and hard restart no good did not work. Toilet we would fill trash bucket with water out of bath tub and flush the toilet usually do this when we are camping not hoteling it. Coffee maker non op and did not offer us another room or replacement for anything.
Eric, who was the host at breakfast, was wonderful! He was very welcoming and helpful. Harbor view from the room on the third floor was nice to wake up to. Breakfast fare was good. Nice variety of breakfast food. P
Over priced for having non functioning amenities. At check out, the front desk attendant gave a token response and handed the receipt and replied "here's your receipt" but offered no attempt to correct the problem.
Nothing really outstanding here except the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a room with 2 bedrooms and small kitchenette. Very nice!! Has a nice family restaurant next door and the free continental breakfast was quite good.
Spent 2 nights in hotel and thus far on my trip this has been the best value. Rooms basic but cleaning was to a very high standard. Breakfast provided as part of package and young man by the name of Eric was a star not so much for his waiting skills but for his gift of the gab.Well done young man.Ate upstairs in restaurant which was enjoyable and once again first class service from Melinda food was so so. Hotel right on Highway so ideally situated for Redwood Forests and local beaches.Free coffee and cookies was a nice touch at reception during the day and also used laundry on site which was a godsend after a week on the road
We stayed here for one night during the forest fires in early September. The room was in a newer building and had a great view of the mountains to the east. Best was good, wifi strong, and room was clean. Will stay here again.
The best of the Best Westerns we have stayed at on our trip from San Francisco to Seattle. Room was large, clean and comfortable. More to see in the area than we thought. Ate at adjoining restaurant 365 which was OK.
Excellent hotel. The nicest one in town. We have stayed at 5 others in town and will never stay anywhere else now. Rooms are very clean. Nice extra touches like extra pillows on the bed with the blanket being encased in sheets and a comfortable bed. Fantastic vanity lights, a comfortable lounge chair & clean carpet. Great hotel.
In general the hotel is kept up, the room we occupied was a little run down, but clean and comfortable enough. The only issue that I had with the bed was the pillows which are like little hard squares of misery...It's like they took standard pillows, compressed them and cut them in half. I will definitely bring my own next time. Also, the adjoining Northwoods Restaurant, that we loved in the past has been remodeled. Sadly, the quality of food and service seem to be suffering greatly at the expense of improved aesthetics.
Great location and easy to get to. Right on Hwy 101, yet did not hear any traffic noise. Will stay here again next time we drive to California. Wish we had more time to look around the town, but we were in home mode
I stayed at this hotel for one night during a road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, spacious and quiet (for the most part - there is a foghorn in this town that does not stop, which you might hear occasionally), and the breakfast was fantastic. My only criticism is that the fitness room was somewhat subpar, but as I was not here on an extended stay it was not a big deal. I would definitely stay here again and I'm very happy with the value I received.
I'm a BW frequent traveler and just checked into the BW Northwoods Inn in Crescent City and was totally blown away by the room! its brand new on the third floor with a great view of the harbor and beach. Robert W. check me in and he was super cordial and when I asked if I could get a room with a view of the harbor, he upgraded me to the nicest room I've had the pleasure of visiting at any BW ever. I wish I could post a pic of the room, but I suggest you plan for one of the new rooms on the third floor when you visit. Thanks again to Robert, and all the staff for making our stay one to remember!
This is the worst motel I have stayed at in years- in fact I didn't think this motel style still existed. I reviewed the room online and it bore no resemblance to the room I was assigned. I was told if I wanted a new room I would have to pay extra- I already had paid over $200. Basically it is a dump- the kind of place you feel you have to sleep with one eye open. This was my second 2 week road trip this year and I have stayed in rooms that would be luxury suites compared to this and for a lot less money. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy- well maybe!! Save yourself money and prevent that creepy feeling by avoiding this place like the plague.
We left another hotel due to mold in the room and were so happy that this one had 1 vacancy left on a busy Labor Day weekend! It was a perfect room. Clean and beds really comfy. The pool and hot tub were clean and our kids loved it. The on site restaurant was a big plus. Great food.
Very large and clean rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. Willing to go the extra to make sure everything is to your liking. Restaurant has great views and the staff is also very helpful. Good views of the marina and harbor from the Ocean Room. Staff seemed happy and to enjoy working in both places. Definitely on our list of place to visit again!
Stayed at this property many years ago and had a pleasant experience. As a Best Western Rewards customer, I like having a place to stay with a restaurant onsite and very close to the Redwoods. This time around I was disappointed. We were in a first floor room that did not feel very clean in my opinion. The bathroom floor was dirty, especially behind the door with hair and dust. The room had a musty smell. The ceiling above appeared to have been repaired but was quite squeaky when the people above walked around. It made me concerned about the structural integrity of the floor above and our ceiling. Another disappointment was the non-working hot tub. The service in the Northwoods Restaurant for dinner was atrocious even though it was quite busy. After our order was placed, 5 tables were served before us that arrived after us. There was no soap in the women's bathroom...so how were the female employees washing their hands properly. After talking to our waitress and her telling me it takes a long time to make the French Dip sandwich (the special of the night), I wasn't buying it having worked in the industry. When the food arrived the meat in the French Dip was ground and the texture of canned dog food. We spoke with the manager who did not charge us for the food (we didn't eat it after taking one bite). Robert at the Front Desk was quite helpful in providing us with a local recommendation for food which we appreciated. The cookies offered at check in were good too. On a high note, the complimentary breakfast was good. Check in and check out went smoothly. Free parking and free wi-fi is a plus at this property,
It was fine for a place to sleep. Pretty dirty though. The maid didn't replenish anything and she vacuumed up my iPad charger & ruined it. She left a note and said sorry, don't leave it on the floor. It was plugged in the same wall with the lamp, she seemed to have not vacuumed it up. No one offered to pay for a replacement, just looked in the lost & found. Sadly, no other poor sap left one behind for me to use. The washer was broken as well as the outdoor hot tub. I realize it's California but, really? So expensive! Internet was spotty and we had to log in every few minutes.
Nice place to stay. Lots of amenities. My son loved the pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Love that they have an onsite restaurant with free breakfast. Close to the beach. Will definitely recommend to others!
WE were going to make a trip tp Crater Lake Oregon and had never seen the Redwoods and because of the location we were able tp do both. The redwoods we saw were only two miles from our hotel. The hotel was excellent. It had a restaurant attached with a great breakfast.
I was assigned a room up front in the layout Room 241. It was a great size and what I expected from Best Western Plus. The room looked updated, was clean & plenty of drawers. The TV is small though. The worst part of the stay was the noise from the road! I specifically asked if it was a noisy room, and while there weren't loud voices & foot traffic, there were loud engines & road traffic! Although almost all of the Crescent City lodging is conveniently along Hwy 101, some of the hotels are set back from the road and tend to be much quieter. Sorry BW, you didn't cut the grade for me.
The staff are super friendly and helpful The rooms were clean. The motel is older style with open outside corridors and windows facing the corridor. This made it difficult to open windows or drapes due to lack of privacy. The front rooms experience a fair amount of road noise. Breakfast is combination of hot and cold items. I
This hotel is located in the most beautiful spot on Hwy 101 in California. The rooms are great. The service is super friendly. They have a restaurant right on the premises. Could have stayed longer if not on our 21 day trip in the U.S.
We booked a room for the 5 of us. The room was large and comfortable with 2 queen beds and a sofa pullout. This was great for 2 adults and 3 kids. Wi-fi was free and fairly speedy. The room was clean with a large bathroom and shower. There is also a kitchen for those with extended stays. The pool was large and the depth is only 4 feet so great for kids. There is also a large exercise room and sauna. The breakfast area is not attached to the main building and is large to accommodate a large number of people. They may have been understaffed for breakfast as they had trouble keeping things stocked. The beds are very comfortable. The location is good for sightseeing. The buildings appear fairly new and well maintained. I would recommend this property to anyone who visits the area.
Great room nice and quiet. The basic breakfast no hash browns and eggs (warm) bacon thin and cold and the sausage was the same. I have to say with a full full kitchen that can make basic customer breakfast already in place.! Why make a self service buffet that is only ok a most . They have a wonderful pool and hot tub up
Walls thinner than cigarette paper, you hear everything that's going on in the building, showers, conversations outside and inside, when the trolley passed along the balcony we thought there was a twister approaching. Breakfast hours are too limitating, and the hotel is not isolated from the road. There is no phonic isolation whatsoever. Apart from that, the room was very clean and tidy, I hope that a whole lot of my dollars is going to the cleaning team...! We stayed at motels with the same acoustic disconfort for 50 bucks.
We stayed 6 nights in a 2 queen w/ kitchen room- room was spacious, no hide a bed though, 2 chairs, no sofa. Kitchen is very basic. no toaster, missing kitchen utensils-we were given sporks by the front desk and told what is in the room is what's available. Bring your own dish rags, dish washing tablets, working can opener, bbq utensils and charcoal if you plan to use the BBQ offered as an amenity. We've stayed at other hotels and these were part of the amenities. Complimentary breakfast is nice but same food is served every day.
Stayed there on a trip up the coast. The motel is large, staff was friendly, rooms were clean and what you expect from a newer BW. It uses the restaurant on site for the morning breakfast but it stops serving breakfast at 9:00 so I missed it (slept in a bit). The motel filled up by the end of the night but was still quiet and relaxing stay there.
This hotel was friendly, efficient, and clean. The breakfast had a varied assortment and was very good. If you want a big and newer room, request the third floor (I don't know if these rooms are more expensive or not). Parking is mostly in the back. Would recommend for your stay in Creacent City!
Cheerful staff, convenient location, solid breakfast, really comfortable beds, great water pressure made this a pleasant stop. Staff were accommodating when we made a special request. Nice place to stay.
We stayed for 3 nights. Loved that we could walk to the beach and restaurants. King size bed was comfortable. The breakfast choices were amazing and the food was delicious. It was great having the refrigerator in the room as well as a coffee maker.
Tub didn't drain well at all (filled up while taking showers), dry rot at entry door floor (very big and soft and dangerous), frame at vanity mirror falling off and held together with tape, square throw pillows for sleeping with. The recreation center had no towels anywhere (no drying off at the pool or wiping sweat off your face in the fitness room), no disinfectant for the exercise equipment, weight equipment held together questionably and doubtfully safe. Room was made up, but no towels, wash cloths or bath mat was replaced, only removed. The staff was friendly, the room and grounds clean. Not worth the money.
Had a wonderful time in crescent city at the Northwood inn best western. Went to trees of mystery and the Fri e thru tree. The hotel was wonderful. Great amenities and facilities for the little ones and the teens. Nice little patios off the rooms. Very quaint. Nice view and right next to good food places. The restaurant there had wonderful food and extremely nice people
Overall an enjoyable area to visit. Unfortunately, our stay at the hotel was soured significantly when the hotel staff was unable to make repairs of the room toilet that was backing up. We were also a bit disappointed that we did not get contacted by hotel staff about an item that we believe was inadvertently left behind at the room.
We ended up here because my Mom ended up in the hospital during our cross country trip. The staff was kind, rooms were clean, and the area was quite. There is a really good Ocean museum down the road for kids.
Stayed one night in an executive king bed room. Rooms are in multiple buildings on the property. Parking is tight. Our room had a non functioning nightstand lamp (was not the light bulb, I checked it). The bed mattress was awful. My side was broken down and felt like I was going to roll out of bed all night. Wife's side had ridges running under her neck that were uncomfortable. We were traveling and checked in late. Was not aware of the bed problem until we went to bed. By then it was too late to bother reporting to front desk. For $209, was not worth it.
Our first sopmafter the redwoods. This place was clean, and quiet. The breakfast was good, and it was easy in and out for coming and going. The restaurant on site had new ownership, I don't remember the name, but it was very good for supper.
This hotel was a stones throw away from the Redwood Forrest. The staff was very helpful in navigating us to tourist attractions. We are always very happy with the cleanliness of Best Western hotels and this one was great. The pool was warm and the family enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The breakfast is perfect for getting out day started. We would definitely stay there again!
Stopped here on our way from San Francisco to Bandon. Stayed in the only room left which was third floor overlooking the highway and the marina, very modern and clean room but very expensive at almost $300 for a Best Western! Front desk has a relationship with two restaurants next-door but I wouldn't recommend going to the one downstairs we walked in and walked right out. We ended up eating at the brewery which was very good and had a great atmosphere.
We were visiting the Redwoods with extended families. I decided on the Best Western because of their breakfast and the pool even though the price was more than what we usually spend. Everyone had a wonderful time!! The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of things to satisfy everyone and it gave us a good start of the day. The kids loved the pool. The rooms were clean and efficiently laid out with the sink outside of the bathroom. Towels were nice and fluffy. The only complaint I have is the water from the faucet tasted horrible and that I wished there were one more waste basket in the room. I would definitely consider coming back here if we came back here again with the families!!
We reserved 2 weeks ahead of time. I signed up for points plus. So excited to stay In the heated pool nice updated hotel as promised, when got to my room on 2nd floor 248 so dissapointed when I opened up the door. Very dated room. Then I looked in bathroom to broken tiles and ripped carpeting. I went up to 3rd floor to get ice and noticed 3rd floor was updated and smelled nice and clean. I came down to my room and asked to be moved and they said they couldn't. We tore off the bedding and slept in our sleeping bags bc it felt so dirty. Next day the elevator stopped working so we had to carry our suitcases down flights of stairs. We did call and complain. The pool was horrible. Smelled of chlorine and pee and it was NOT HEATED. This bestwestern was not worth the money.
The hotel staff very helpful and courteous. The hotel very clean and acomadating. Excellent breakfast and cleanliness. Loved the stay, accommodating to power chair accessiblility. Would re commend this hotel
We appreciated that the staff switched us from King size beds to doubles per our request even though we had booked online. They weren't obligated to do that. However, our stay started off a bit rocky. One of the rooms we were first given appeared to have been occupied for a short time as the bed was rumpled and the garbage full with a few things on the counters. Perhaps another guest changed rooms and the staff forgot to check it. Anyway, the staff apologized and moved us to another room quickly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the service we received the next morning at the continental breakfast. I wish I remembered the name of the woman who made sure to make us comfortable.
It was a last minute trip for us. The room was fine nothing fancy. It meet our needs for the 2 days we were there. The staff there are great. I just felt for the price it would have been a little nicer room. We paid $200 including tax a night. Location was great. Being right on 101 was wonderful.
I usually don't stay at Best Westerns, because it's always such a grab-bag, since they are franchised. I would highly recommend this particular one, tho, as our room was amazing, clean, comfortable and roomy, breakfast was complimentary, and American, not Continental, and delicious. The service was great, everyone was very friendly and helpful, even to the point of lending me a (restaurant-size) roll of plastic wrap so I could wrap my husband's foot to take a shower (he is recovering from surgery). I've stayed at some great hotels over the years, and I find myself pleasantly surprised ranking this one up with the best. You will not be disappointed!
Nice property, restaurant location is great. Breakfast is served there and then later opens as Public House/Fine dining. I failed to check out the view from the second floor though. Spent 3 days going down Oregon coast and still had a week of road tripping ahead of us, so staying at the more expensive Brooking's beachfront hotels wasn't a necessity. Going southbound seemed nicer than traveling northbound due to traffic.
It is called a Best Western Plus for a good reason. The exterior may look a little bit seasoned, but the interior is fresh and modern. The desk staff is great, and there are two restaurants on site. One serves seafood and steak, and the other serves pub food. The latter doubles as the complimentary breakfast location. The "Plus" is apparent in the generously sized modern rooms, complete with large walk in showers with high quality fixtures. At night, there was minimal noise from our room on the 3rd room facing 101, which had a nice view of the marina. It was nice hearing the fog horn in the distance at night. The hotel is close to the Trees of Mystery and other great redwood and coastal locations.
This was a fine place to stay. Not exceptionally noteworthy (as the BW in Eureka (Humbolt-Bay Inn) is, but it wasn't awful, either. The breakfast service was a bit crazy, but the free food was about what you would expect. Kids love waffles. Adults love granola, yogurt, and hot coffee. The morning staff was more helpful than the evening staff...could be they were just tired. Joshua, in particular, was most helpful. Traveling along the coast is fun and this hotel was just fine.
As usual, Best Western can be counted on to deliver a budget friendly, clean, standard room. The room was clean, a good size, and had a view of the marina across the street. The shower is not pressurized, which is not acceptable in a hotel - so the water ran hot and cold throughout. Not pleasant. There was NO parking to be had after 8 - so had to park behind the restaurant. I asked for a kettle for my room to make tea and they had none. They do have hot water in the lobby. Breakfast - at 8:45 there was nothing left, waited 10 minutes for some bacon and there was no batter for the waffles.
We stayed at this Best Western for two nights and the Arcata Best Western for two nights to have close access to the Redwood National and State Parks. The Crescent City Best Western Plus is a nice hotel to "come home to" after full days of hiking at Patrick's Point State Park, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Redwood National Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the last which is the closest redwoods state park to the Oregon Border. This hotel is also close to Crescent City's Battery Point Lighthouse and the beautiful False Klamath Cove beach. The first night we checked in and were given the room we'd booked, a standard king bed room. However, most of the building lost hot water that night and we were upgraded at no cost to a beautiful 3rd floor room with full kitchen and two queen beds. As with all Best Westerns we have booked, everything was clean and comfortable. This particular room had a gorgeous, huge, tiled walk-in shower and a roomy sitting area with leather chairs. Please see attached photos of the original and upgraded rooms. Also, though we didn't have time to use them, the indoor pool and exercise room looked great. The free buffet breakfast was wonderful! The buffet selection had something for everyone, so much so that I complimented the chef and servers: Scott, Kaitlin and Devonie. It is served in the restaurant on the grounds. We were given a voucher for the breakfast which is served to hotel guests only. I highly recommend this hotel for those planning a night or a week in the Crescent City area. Oh, and don't forget the homemade cookies and fresh coffee in the lobby. Yummy Snicker Doodles!
The hotel is located within the tourist area of Crescent City. Our room was a double queen, but small for two kids and two adults. The price paid was $160 per night. High price for the size. Decent breakfast, and the service was good. I'd probably look at another hotel before staying here again.
Friendly staff decent rooms free breakfast close to redwood park. Be aware some rooms are like motel with outside entrances ask for the buildings with internal doors. We had two rooms that connected and it was very convenient.
Newer hotel with many amenities, conveniently located across the street from the local harbor The Seafood restaurant had nice second story views of the harbor and the food was outstanding. The rooms were quiet and comfortable.
Great location, extremely clean and updated rooms, staff very well trained and demonstrated excellent customer service. Especially the two servers in the Breakfast Dining Room, specifically Devonic and Alex. My family was made to feel like we were their very special guests. I strongly recommend this Best Western Plus Northwoods Inn. Will return again!
Good location, on site restaurant food was good. Breakfast was chaos, couldn't get wi fi signal, lots of patrons of the on site bar hanging out in parking lot. If we return to Crescent City I would choose a different hotel because the layout of the property with all of the separate buildings wasn't family friendly.
We loved this place, although there were no restaurants in the hotel or breakfast offered (it's an extended stay hotel). They do have a small market to buy items to eat. They have free laundry (which we took advantage of). Nice rooms, very clean hotel.
The staff at the hotel were very professional and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Relaxing pool and Jacuzzi area. Decent fitness room to work out while you are away from home. Breakfast had lots of options available and was fresh, with hot or cold options.
This is a very large Motel. The staff is most courteous and knowledgeable. They were swift with our check-in and out. The rooms are very nice, large indoor pool great for kids. Breakfast was great, actually located in the onsite restaurant via voucher. A pleasant surprise complete with bacon, sausage, waffles, eggs, etc., fresh fruit galore! Worth the $
Hotel is a typical Best Western, clean and comfortable. we booked a king executive sweet and it is a VERY large room and well appointed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We have traveled to Crescent City many times but this is only the second time staying here...I know from now on this will be our go to place! Thanks Northwoods Inn your awesome!
Dated room. Soft bed. Cleanliness leaves much to be desired. Walls are paper thin and you can see daylight through the door. Highway noise was loud. You get what you pay for. Breakfast was actually pretty decent.
This best western was awesome. Every one was happy. We each had a queen size bed (4). Great suite. Bathroom was huge. I wish I would have stayed longer if I knew it was that good. I'm from florida and wasn't aware. I have stayed at BW in San Fransisco and it was terrible. Each BW has Individual owners.
Our family of four stayed one night in June 2017 and weren't terribly impressed. The room was small and tidy but the carpet felt dirty. On the plus side, the pool and spa area amused our kids, and the inn is within walking distance of a few restaurants. We slept fine and enjoyed the breakfast buffet included in our stay... and that's when the trouble started. About 7am-ish, we heard the fire alarm ringing, and there was black smoke billowing out of what looked like a stairwell or walkway area between the buildings. We were mostly packed already, so we braved the fire alarm to gather our suitcases and get out of the way. As the fire engines arrived, we left our keys at the front desk with the panicked staff.
At check in, was told my ADA room was not available because of a water leak, okay, I say. The room provided as a backup was not even a 2nd ADA room and was totally unusable for a wheelchair ADA client. The next day, I was NOT offered to move back into my ADA room with the fixed water leak, I had to ask and was treated as if I was asking for an upgrade. I had booked this ADA room a week in advance. No compensation, room discount or extra BW reward points was offered for the advance reservation not being accessible. 2nd worst BW stay in the same year.
The hotel was clean and close to everything in town. We enjoyed the pool/hot tub area. The only thing was the staff was not overly friendly....somewhat abrupt with people checking in and asking questions.
I was in the middle of a 10 day trip with different hotels along the way. To be honest I was a little worried about this one based off some of the reviews. It I was pleasantly surprised. Due to varying circumstances we were placed in a huge room on the 3rd floor of the middle building. It had a total of 4 queen beds along with a full kitchen and huge bathroom. This was well needed and was the best night of our trip. Great place for a family with need of many beds like we were. Would stay here again if I'm the area!
Bathroom was a bit small but other than that, a great room, convenient location, friendly and helpful staff. Places to eat close by, and walking distance to the beach. I was on a work trip and was able to get a good night's sleep each of four nights.
Crescent City is amazing!! This Inn has a nice view and good sized room however it is a little dated. The breakfast is good and the restaurant has some variety. I did have a mosquito issue while I was there, not sure if they followed me to the room or what.
It was a nice hotel and the staff were very nice. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and hotel amenities were nice. The Hotel was on the main road so access was very easy. Parking at the front of the hotel was minimal but there was plenty around the back portion.
Stayed here one night while on a road trip. we like BW properties in general and this one was no exception. Huge clean room with the usual amenities. Pleasant staff. Biggest surprise was the breakfast which was in a restaurant opposite the hotel. Plenty of seating space and everything you could want for breakfast including fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, waffles, and more. Oh and there was a fire in the laundry room which brought out the entire fire department. Despite all the noise and confusion, the staff remained calm and pleasant during what must have been an extremely stressful situation since the power had to be shut off. Definitely recommend this place if you are passing through
We have stayed here many times and keep going back for a reason, clean rooms, friendly people, across the street from the marina and a large choice of restaurants close by. The free breakfast buffet is good and some awesome servers to help. We will continue to return.
We loved our stay at this Best Western! Pool was fun. Rooms were very clean. Front desk is very helpful. The hostess at the on site restaurant was great! And breakfast was fabulous. Thank you to Kaitlin, Alex and Scott for the lovely food. Especially to Kaitlin for helping me get my hot water for my French Press coffee!! We will definitely stay again when in the area.
Took My wife, Maria to see Redwoods, which I promised her for 28 years! Stayed at Northwoods Inn, Best Western, via California Auto Assn. and had best vacation ever! Took a tram to see Redwoods at Trees of Mystery, visited Smith State Park and saw more Redwoods and Smith River--beautiful and magical!! Saw Ocean World and the smart sea lions - wow! Visited Marine Mammal Center! Saw Crescent City Harbor and fishing boats, and visited fantastic beaches with pristine views of the Pacific Ocean! Best Western staff's customer service and professionalism rocks! Thanks! Andy And Maria Sullivan, Sacramento, California
Smaller cities dont have the high end hotels we usually stay in, but this was a quaint, lovely hotel. Room was clean, free breakfast. Poor lady working reception was slammed and a super long checkin line. Walls were thin, could hear everything going on around and above you. Would stay again if passing through this town again.
Arrived early, was able to check-in and get some rest. Needed to print and re-. send an important document for work,The front desk Manager assisted me with this with no hesitation. Document was sent successfully. Room was very nice as well.
This was my and my wife's first vacation together (married two years). And the staff at Best Western Crescent City Ca. made our stay the most enjoyable and wonderful experience. We will definitely be back soon!
Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. We drove in around midnight and the place looked almost packed we had a hard time locating parking that was close to our room and ended up parking way in the back by the buses. The complimentary breakfast was nicely kept with very friendly service even supplied to go containers if needed. However I felt that this location's price was a little too high compared to other places in town.
Excellent place to stay. The staff was very professional. The room had a great view of the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok. The pool and jacuzzi was very clean and warm.
Conveniently located just as you enter Crescent City (from the south). Close to a variety of restaurants in the city (short drive). Sports Bar restaurant located on premises (breakfast is served here). Staff is friendly and helpful and efficient in their jobs. Hotel is somewhat of an older style with access to the rooms from the outside (both ground and second floor), but it definitely makes it easier if you have a lot of luggage to unload to be located right at your doorway.
The room smelled, the toilet seat was smaller than the toilet, and the door lock didn't work -- a few of issues that I remember. We changed rooms once to a slightly nicer room (less smelly) but the issues listed above were from the "better" room. Also they charged us for the "upgrade" but didn't tell us that they were going to do so.
Nice best western. Great view and amenities. Helpful staff. The customer service person upgraded our room at no extra cost, just for being a rewards member. He put us in a larger room since we were a family of five. Within walking distance to some good food and the pier.
I can usually count on Best Western and seldom disappointed. This location is a great location close to everything. It has all the immunities microwave, refrigerator, wifi, bathtub and free hot breakfast. TV was clear and large which when traveling is nice. Crescent city is a beautiful spot with nice beaches, a little tough to get here right now due to all the road work but it is worth it.
We had 6 rooms for family and employees families and we all really enjoyed the indoor pool/hot tub. The fitness room and a delicious, healthy breakfast. Parking was easy and the multiple doors made access easy.
The room had an awkward smell, but it was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The check-in staff was friendly and helpful. The best part was the breakfast and the staff working it. The food was fresh and delicious. Alex was extremely polite, courteous and helpful.
A humming noise from the ceiling for two days. They fixed the problem but it was still annoying. They did offer another room but I had to many things to move and they wanted to move me to an upstairs room. The breakfast guy was watching everything you ate and checked your breakfast card like some kind of prison guard. Other than that it was ok.
If you're looking for a peaceful experience check out the Best Western in Crescent City. The drive to get there through the Redwoods is beautiful and proximity to the ocean is only steps away. The upstairs restaurant is fantastic. Try the prime rib, pepper steak or seafood medley. Sincerely, A Happy Camper!!!
Parts of the motel are older, but well-cared for. Breakfast was standard BW fare which is good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool was a little iffy as chlorine smell was quite strong. All in all a decent place to stay.
There was a mix-up with our reservation and we arrived to discover that we didn't have the room we had already paid for and we're told we had to pay again if we wanted a room. Our efforts to get a refund took several days and several calls before the manager took our call. We won't stay at a Best Western again but if you need a room that is clean just for an overnight it will do.
we have recently switched to staying mostly at a different hotel chain, but for Crescent City, this is our favorite hotel. We love the nicely heated pool that is only 4 ft so the kids can play safely. The breakfast offered is also amazing. Always clean and always treated well by the staff.
Great staff, property needs help, caring people made all the difference in the enjoyment of our stay and helped mitigate the issues with the room. The issues with the room were tub wouldn't drain during shower,3-4" of water in tub, very slow drain; sink faucet couldn't regulate hot/cold water temp properly; tv remote never would change volume or on/off, tried three different remotes.
Another stop on the road trip we used our points here too. Coming into town we ate elsewhere but they apparently have a restaurant on site which was a nice change. Turns out that's where breakfast is served in the morning too. The lobby is nice with the large wall fountain. The staff was friendly and rooms large and clean. Fridge and microwave in room, and our building had inside hallways, located across from the harbor it can be windy so that was nice. Breakfast was the usual staple Best Western food eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles array of pastries and cereals (hot and cold) juices, coffee tea etc. This breakfast ended at 9am so that was an hour earlier than our previous stops so hubby just brought me something since I slept a bit later and they had actual to-go containers available which was cool. So your not walking across parking lot with a plate and it getting cold. This was a 20,000 point bonus night too.
We were very happy with our overall experience at the Best Western in Crescent City. They stood above all our other options in the area; we went to a few hotels before confirming this hotel. They had a fantastic indoor pool, hot-tub and sauna! The continental HOT breakfast was amazing! All of the staff members were friendly and extremely helpful. We highly recommend this hotel, not to mention that it stood far above the rest in the area.
This was the first time we stayed at this facility, and wish we had stayed there before. As Best Western platinum members, we were given a room upgrade that seldom happens at other Best Western facilities. Besides that the staff there was very courteous and friendly. Will definitely stay there again next time when in that area.
Our room was clean had refrigerator and micro in room which was nice because we were there for 4 days. The bed was a little firm lots of pillows on each bed, slept great while here. Really liked the indoor pool and Jacuzzi,it rained a couple of the days we were there and took the kiddo down a few times on those days so no boredom:) The office staff was very friendly and helpful! The complimentary breakfast was good, lots of choices. would definitely stay here again!!
Everything was perfect! Starting with the fast and friendly checkin,we were greeted warmly, with fresh coffee in lobby. The property was spotless both outside and in the room. The best part was the hot breakfast bar, better than most breakfast buffets. We will be back and stay longer
The rooms were average compared to other best western plus hotels. The room smelled musky when we entered the room so we had to open the window for a while. The toilet sat too low & flushed oddly, and we could here the people above us walking back and forth in their room. The bed was also way too soft for our comfort. The parking lot also needs to be hosed down to clean spills left by hotel guests. Only plus is the excellent restaurant Good Harvest Restaurant next door.
Overall this hotel was adequate. It was clean, staff were friendly and although some of the services, like television and internet were not always up to par, the stay was okay. I suppose I would go back if I had the opportunity.
This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Crescent City. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is right on highway 101, which is convenient, and our room was in the back building, so it was quiet. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice. The breakfast was okay, but kind of chaotic because it is in part of the restaurant. Overall really nice place to stay near the redwoods and beach!
Enjoyed the stay. Free breakfast. Pretty average hotel and amenities. Wasn't to pleased with the indoor jacuzzi, it really didn't get hot and the Jets were terrible. Good location. Really close driving distance to a lot of scenic views and hikes.
This is a nice property and the room was clean. However, we stayed on the ground floor and we heard we the people above us walking and talking all night. We will request a room on the top floor next time.
We stayed here 2 years ago when they were renovating the main building. They have us a very nice room in the 'new' building in the back -- indoor room entrance, quiet. This year we were in the main building on the 1 st floor - exterior entrance, parking just outside the door with the associated noise, and our room faced the highway with some associated noise - not so good. The bathroom and room were small, and with my bad knees, the toilet was very low. If I stay here again I will need a handicapped room. I recommend staying above the first level to minimize the parking lot noise, and have a room that faces away from the highway or be in the building in the back for a quieter stay. There is a great restaurant next door (Good Harvest). We did not try the new restaurant at the hotel, but the menu looked good.
Although tired from a long trip, this hotel was wonderful and fit all my needs and more! Check-in was easy and quick, the manager, Patricia, was wonderful and really seems to love her job. The hotel breakfast was good, lots of choices with a fun energetic staff! Tina Marie, Johnny and Laurie were happy and extremely attentive, constantly making sure all the food was hot and stocked! Rooms were really clean, and a friendly staff, would definitely recommend this hotel!
There are good points about this hotel/motel. The staff are lovely and the bedrooms are grand. Very comfortable beds and the room is good. However, we did not like the idea of having no sink in the bathroom, instead it is in the main room. Fitments in the bathroom were loose, there was a water leak (slight) in the ceiling, and the hairdryer did not work. The pool area, gym and sauna had no changing room and in the pool itself the large drain pipe had detached from the pool wall and was hanging loose. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed and only the grill in the Sports bar was open. Breakfast in in the same bar and is good. It is easy to put up with all the above if you are just looking for somewhere to rest your head for a night.
toilet propped up with shim. clock not set to daylight savings, resulting getting up an hour earlier to make the 6 am breakfast. no toilet paper in room, or tissues. no electric plug near desk. had to move desk in front of a/c. no closed captions on tv. tiny toilet, not a bw plus by any means!
Tina Marie , johnny and Laurie are so friendly and helpful made me laugh just wanted to take them with me , breakfast was just what i wanted , I do a lot of traveling and I'm one that looks for something wrong , will not this time
I would like to say thank you for a great experience here, breakfast staff were amazing Tinamarie, Laurie, Johnny were amazing they had such a great personality, work etnic and welcome us with open arms, they were on top of there jobs that made me feel so at home I would definitely be coming back for another stay in the future congrats on your amazing staff
Beckylynn was extremely helpful when checking in to ensure I was assigned the room I booked. When making a request, it is great to have someone take just a moment to see what they can do. Beckylynn did just that and it all worked out! Thank you. John
This hotel is the perfect location to walk in the Redwoods. It's by the ocean and a short drive from excellent trails. The room was nice and we enjoyed the sports bar for dinner. The breakfast included delicious waffles and bottled water. The short drive to the amazing trails in the Redwoods makes it the perfect place to stay.
Nice View, Hotel is average, friendly staff, clean rooms. Nothing special but was clean. The pool is covered all the time and you have to ask if you want to swim which makes you feel like you are putting people out to swim, which they didn't seem to care just felt weird. Water tempature was hard to control in the shower when others started using showers your water would go hot and cold in the same minute.
Arrived late and was tired. Room was very clean, comfy bed, and enjoyed sitting on the small patio the next morning. Tina Marie and Johnny were doing a great job in the breakfast room as it was their first day open in their new location. I mentioned to desk we had stayed at other Best Western locations, but I wasn't sure if we received points to see theat the previous stay. I had not, and was given a number to call to get points credited. We wanted to see the Redwoods and were given directions. Very helpful staff and we look forward to staying here again.
Great hotel. Great restaurant on site that has a salad and soup bar from what I remember. Great clean rooms with ac and flat screen TV's. Great big beds that are very comfortable. Great views. Across from the beach.
Very nice Hotel right on 101. They have been renovating for at least a year, and construction seem to be almost complete. The adjoining restaurant where your given a voucher for free breakfast has been completely renovated and delivers a really good breakfast, and also looks like it would be a pretty fun place for dinner and drinks as well. Cool local sports pub vibe. I'm not sure if they plan on a rate increase as a result of the renovations. Most Hotels do raise rates after such upgrades, but as of now, for a really nice (Now even nicer!) Hotel right on 101, on the coast, this place is very reasonable, and for me. a total slam dunk.
I stayed here on my way to see the redwood forests. I loved the spacious room, king-sized bed, microwave, and fridge. A wonderful complimentary breakfast was offered from 6-9, and Tina Marie, Johnny and Laurie were such friendly servers. Definitely recommend it.
The hotel was clean and up to date, the beds were comfy beds. The hotel has a Sports Bar / Resturant , great drinks and food. Complimentary breakfast was good, the staff at breakfast, Tina, Marie, Johnny and Laurie were great.
Loved the visit. Tina Marie, Johnny, and Laurie made my girls have one of the best breakfasts ever!!! Kind and considerate with tons of options. We will definitely stay on our next trip through crescent city.
This is a large rambling property just across from the harbor. The only negative was having difficulty find our room given the description/map we got at the front desk. We really enjoyed our stay here. Though is is along busy 101 we were well off the highway and heard no traffic. Beds were comfortable and the room spacious. Breakfast had a lot of choices and was more than adequate. I would happily use this facility again in the future.
Other guests were loud! It was like sleeping in a tent you could hear everything they were saying, and the bed, the bed was horrible, felt like a sheet over plywood, seriously add some shackles and it could have been a mid evil torture chamber, and what is with the little pillows??? They had no ice in the building we stayed in, we had to go back to the main building, which was very inconvenient. The in room refrigerator had only one temp and it was not normal fridge temperature unless you like your beer warm. They price was high for off season and no view. But on a good note the breakfast was delicious and it was easy to find, but I hear the Bates hotel was easy to find as well!!!!
Been heading north from Palm Desert via Salinas California, along the beautiful west coast, arriving at Crescent City, on our trip home.. On arrival, was greeted by a very friendly, young lady at the desk. Asked if we had reservations, said no, we are just traveling through. ( I never make reservations on road trips, as i drive until I feel tired, then get on my car GPS, and punch in Best Western in that area, then decide which one to stay at). Helped us sign in, and explained, what they have to offer, etc. Room very clean. Restaurant, food and staff, excellent.....
I stay at the Crescent City Hotel at least once per year and it is really nice. The beds are super comfortable and the environment was clean. The breakfast has a lot of choices, although the bacon, eggs and sausage are very generic. The waffles are really good.
The rooms were clean and had all the amenities that we needed. The staff was very helpful with providing us information on what sights to see and gave use directions. They even asked if we had a rewards card which we did, but it was nice to be reminded
The hotel room was clean, and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was convenient to the places we wanted to visit, and the price was reasonable. The free breakfast was just right.

Gaby, Tinamarie, & Johnny were the most attentive staff members ensuring a great breakfast! Thank you for helping our family enjoy a memorable vacation! Here's a pic of my husband eating a breakfast "taco"; eggs, bacon, sausage, & shredded cheddar cheese wrapped inside a big waffle. Delicious!

We arrived late escaping from the very bad storm just arriving on the Oregon coast. The Hotel staff very helpful at every opportunity. The Hotel is a new hotel and the finish of everything shinned. The staff is very well trained. The comp breakfast was in the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant had only been open 12 days. Food was awesome and service was great. Management did an outstanding job of getting everything up and running smoothly.

Thank you so much for being our guest, we appreciate you letting us be your choice over the many other area hotels. Please come back and visit us again! Sincerely, Patricia Coburn General Manager
We got a huge room in the back of hotel, the beds weren't the best, and there was no sink in the bathroom for the early birds in our group, but we loved the size and cleanliness of the room. The pool was nice. The laundry was convenient as well. The breakfast was amazing! Tina Marie and Johnny made sure we were happy, when we asked for more watermelon they graciously brought a to go box with it full. They also offered the kids pbjs and water for the trip and little activities. He then offered the adults water and we again graciously accepted. Overall a great stay!! We would come back!
The hotel itself is fine, no problems with the room. However we had already paid for our room and my partner handed over her card thinking it would just be the standard incidentals thing but no, they actually tried to charge the account again! The lady at the desk did apologise for this and said it had been cancelled but it's been a week and the money still hasn't been returned onto my partners credit card!!!!!! Not good enough! Now we have to try and sort this, paying international phone call charges to the UK to speak to the card company.
Nice place across from Marina. But the best part is the awesome breakfast provided by very nice people! Sausage eggs Bacon quality waffles and great Coffee. As expensive as motels are today I think if your in Crescent City this is your best bet
We stayed in the detached area behind the hotel proper. While the rooms were newish and comfortable, all the doors to the rooms and the 6 exterior doors banged noisily with each coming and going and kept us awake. In the early AM, the bangs started again as people left their rooms and the building to go to breakfast. I guess that means no insulation... Will not stay there again.
Stayed at a lot of Best Western's on our trip and this was the best one!!! Large rooms-very clean including the remote for the t.v. that many people do not think about would stay in Best Western's now instead of Holiday Inns. They had just opened a new bar so a very limited dinner menu.Check in was the fastest I have ever had!!! Maybe 4 minutes!!
We were sightseeing along the Pacific Coast, starting in Crescent City. The hotel was very nice. The staff was helpful in things to see in the area and with giving suggestions on places to eat. Complimentary breakfast was good.
We stayed here in July during our cross country road trip. The room was nice and the hotel was in a great location. There is an indoor pool and hot tub, which we enjoyed using. The breakfast was good and there were lots of things to choose from.
After a really long day of driving down the coast we finally made it to our hotel. We had made reservations because I had stayed there once before and remembered it as a good stay. This time however I found the bed to be quite uncomfortable. The room was great, very clean, and the staff were really good, and there was a free breakfast buffet. But at the end of a long and tiring day, when all I wanted was a good nights sleep, I found the bed to be too hard and the pillows were too big. Even if i had the option of a flatter pillow that may have made it better.
We have stayed in the BW Northwoods Inn several times along hwy 101 on the north California coast. The rooms are comfortable for an older BW with parking in front of your room. This is an older BW that is under going updating with a new restaurant with great sports bar food in the evening and a great breakfast. We dined there on their second night of operation and they were very good with food and service.
We thought the hotel was great and had a wonderful room. The breakfast servers we great too. The cost was too high for us. We came in late only room left on ground floor we were told. We will try another place next time in Crescent City.
I was disappointed to find the restaurant closed which moved the breakfast area to a small conference room, not good. The room itself was fine, however. Located across from a nice marina and you could hear the seals barking on the jetty. Too pricey for what you get. Staff was friendly.
The hotel is a pleasant surprise as to the location and the amenities. Right on the main highway one would think it was noisy, but that was not the case as we heard very little if any noise. Right across from the marina and a view of the lighthouse was great for me as I do photography and the location was perfect for my needs. There is a restaurant on sight but we opted to take a walk and enjoy one of the local seafood restaurants. I would go back again.
Stayed one night whilst travelling on road trip through west coast. Hotel well located and looked welcoming. Motel style parking. Room very spacious and clean. Breakfast included was good. Staff helpful.
Room was clean, nice king bed, no view. Breakfast selections were excellent, breakfast room was NOT---it was crowded, noisy and did not have enough seating. Were just passing through, would not stay again. Staff was very friendly and helpful however.
I expected much better quality and this hotel did not meet my expectations. The room was dark, bed too soft, very small room, bathroom door did not match either the closet door or bathroom wood or even mismatched tv furniture. Seemed very odd. The breakfast room was the size of our room, trying to fit 25 people at a time would be difficult, not the best environment at all to eat in, so we chose to eat next door at good harvest. For the price this hotel was not the BW quality we haved stayed at before.
We were much dismayed to find out that this hotel does not offer travel cribs or pack and plays. They suggested we put our 15 month old daughter on blankets on the floor. If you are staying in Crescent City this is the best the town has to offer.
Not a great hotel, in need of a facelift. Breakfast was good. We only stayed one night and were glad we didn't have to stay longer. After a long drive during the day all we wanted to do was relax so didn't go out at all.
The location was close to everything and we had a partial harbor view. We could hear the harbor seals at night when we were walking to our room! So neat! The room was very large and perfect for our needs. Breakfast was really good and kept very clean. We really enjoyed it! The floors did leave all of our socks very dirty but it happened in other hotels as well, so it seems like a common issue. Everything else was very clean! The room refrigerator clicked constantly. All 3 of us were up all night listening to it and it was very annoying. We let the front desk know the next morning and they said they would address it immediately. One of those things and I am sure they took care of it so that other guests could get a good night's sleep. We were very happy with our stay and I only mentioned the negatives just for full disclosure. ;) We would stay again.
My wife and I stayed here during a trip to see the redwoods. Hotel is clean. Rooms are small. They're trying hard with the quality of the furnishings, bath fixtures, etc, but try as you might every BW I've stayed in feels "tired". Staff was very friendly, so no issues there. Breakfast was slightly below par for hotels that bundle it with your room. Also, the breakfast room is small so seating can be an issue. I tend to stay at Hilton properties but this was the best you can do in CC.
We arrived in Crescent City after a long drive. Initially my wife had booked 2 nights but we decided to stay for 1 only. Reception staff were excellent, they booked us in and cancelled the second night without any problems. Our room was clean with good mattresses & bedding on the twin beds. In the morning we had a light continental breakfast at the hotel which was ok, but I must mention the breakfast lady called Tina who went out of her way to engage with patrons. We had no problems with our 1 night at the Best Western, Crescent City.
this hotel was excellent. The staff was friendly the rooms clean and the shower facility in the unit was first class. They even packed grab bags with things that really helped while we were out and about traveling. Joshua the guy at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind.
We could hear our neighbors showering, changing tv, and talking in the room next door and they weren't that loud. The breakfast was average at best. Would not suggest this hotel to others. The experience was not up to Best Western standards.
When we arrived there was only one person in the office and it was busy. I felt that there should have been at least two people. The hotel was in the process of renovation, the upgrades were well done. Unfortunately our room was by the stairs so it was very noisy when people were coming and going. It was great that there were laundry facilities, but there was only one washer, which was in high demand.
We stopped here for one night on our way to the Redwoods National Forest. We had a nice welcome fron the hotel staff and a nice continental breakfast. Adequate rooms that had a fair price for average rooms.
My family stayed here two nights and found our stay very comfortable! The hotel is clean and had very friendly staff -- especially the breakfast staff, Tinamarie and Johnny! Hotel's location is great as well, near other restaurants as well as near the Redwood National and State Parks, which was the main reason for our stay. Overall had a great time. Thanks!
The hotel was very well located. It was across the street from the harbor and some good restaurants. Theirs should be open soon but we didn't get to try it. They fed us a nice breakfast which was included. The bed was firm, but everything else was very good. Hotel staff was very accommodating. The town has many nice beaches to walk on and hear the sea lions barking.
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel while we toured the Redwood National Park. We found the rooms clean and comfortable. A above average hot breakfast was served every morning. The hotel is close to the pier for seafood and watching the sea lions. Good location for touring the National Park.
We are here on business to film some houses with drones and we needed a hotel that was centrally located in town and this place fits our needs perfectly upon arrival the receptionist took care of all our needs. BREAKFAST: above avg...Bacon,eggs,sausage links, Patties, cheese, toast
Loved the location of this hotel with easy access to Redwood National and State Parks and right across the street from a marina and beach. Breakfast was very difficult because of being in a small room with many people during renovations. Food was comparable to other Best Westerns. Nice room sleeps 8 but with 4 adults 1 bathroom was not enough. Kitchen available but had no towels or wash materials.
We only stayed for one night, and were not there during waking hours for very long, but we really appreciate the superb breakfast served up by Johnny and Ivy. They were warm, friendly, very attentive, and made us really appreciate having chosen this particular hotel to stay in when the choices were many. Well done, ladies! If we are ever in Crescent city again, you can be assured we will stay here again.
The check-in process was quick and painless and the lobby was really nice. The hotel has a gym and pool but I wasn't there long enough to check it out. The rooms are a nice size and were clean and well apportioned. My only critique of the room was that the pillows had a chemical smell - not sure why. They looked clean and the bed and sheets were clean so there were no issues there. The bed was fairly comfortable. I woke up early to hit the road before sunrise - they start breakfast at 6am which is really convenient. They had everything you'd want - waffle maker, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, sausage/bacon, bagels, cereal, coffee and juices. Considering some of the other chains don't even offer breakfast - the spread here was really quite impressive. The staff, Ivy and Tina Marie were very helpful when I asked about good places along the way to photograph. Very nice, professional friendly staff. Check-out was easy and the front desk person was equally friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.
We stayed in Crescent City during Labor day weekend. The front desk staff weren't overly friendly, I was told by a friend that had stayed there before to ask for the back building because it was a single story. They have added a second story to it and you can hear the overhead visitor stomping around. Our room was OK nothing special average size but we did have a back patio that over looked the small back hot tub, it would have been nice to have a gate to get to the tub but it was a solid fence. The breakfast room was to small for such a big motel they may want to think about adding to it since they keep adding stories to the buildings. Overall I don't think I would stay here again unless it was the very last place left.
We stayed during Labor Day weekend - a very busy Saturday morning for the two ladies serving breakfast. My husband and I along with our 2 children and 2 of their friends were moving slowly. Not all of us made it to breakfast in a timely fashion. I saw some other people getting bags to go and chilled water bottles so I asked if we could get some. They replied, "Sure!" but indicated they would have to put them together. Again, it was very busy, so I said I would come back. I returned after about 10 minutes and was handed 4 packed bags with an assortment of so many goodies! (Bagels and cream cheese packets, muffins, apples, granola bars, bread and peanut butter and jelly packets, yogurts, spoons, knives, and napkins). It was incredible! The kids ate out of the bags all day. We had stored some of the food in the fridge, and it helped them through late night munchies as well. I was very grateful for those bags. The next day, the kids were still talking about how nice it was that we had those bags. Those ladies in the breakfast area went out of their way to take care of us. Their names were Ivy and Tina Marie by the way.
On our 3 week trip through California, Oregon and Washington this was the biggest and probably nicest room we stayed in. The suite actually had 4 doubles so you could sleep 8 in there. The bathroom was huge and the shower alone could have fitted 8. There was a full kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, oven and dining table. The only thing missing was a tin opener! It's equipped for a long term stay although Crescent city is definitely no more than a one night stay stop over as you are heading north or south on the 101. Hotel is on the 101 so easy to get too and get going from the next day. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. The staff were so lovely and gave us free bottles of water. Just a shame it's currently crammed in the smallest of rooms which isn't big enough to cater for all the guests. This is only temporary though.
I really enjoyed our stay, i especially enjoyed the breakfast and the breakfast staff. I liked how they had healthy food choices and even had a bag made up to have snacks on the go. Thanks again Ivy and Tina Marie! I would recommend that if you do not have a rewards card, make sure you ask for one. Beckie Lynn asked me if I had a rewards card but failed to offer me one other than that she was nice. I did also enjoy the pool the dry sauna and the spa but wished for bubbles. I also thought it was very exspensive but all in all my children enjoyed our stay. We had a safe fun night. Thank you very much Best Western
There's a POOL and Hot Jacuzzi indoors! A MUST with kids after a LONG ride in a car! Room rate a little high.... But this place has an indoor POOL! Did I mention 2 Hot Jacuzzis? This is not a BIG city... It's a beach town...So, if you're in need for a High Rise hotel with all the luxury... Wrong town. Anyway, the staff was friendly and professional! Room was Clean! Was assigned a room in the building towards the back of the property... We had a Fridge, Microwave, coffee maker. All handy! Our beds (2 Queens) were very comfortable! (There's an Outside hot jacuzzi behind this building).. Perfect for relaxing in peace and quiet. Sink with Vanity in room and Shower and Toilet in separate room. Made getting cleaned and dressed easier with 2 adults and toddler. Breakfast.... BEST breakfast for on the Go! They do provide the typical Breakfast.... BUT They also prepare a pre-Packed breakfast bag that included Everything and "Healthy" foods I like to feed my kids! (10 STARS)!!!! Apple, Bagel, Toast, yogurt, Muffin, Peanut butter, Jelly, Nutella in individual packets... EZ! All wrapped and sealed with hand written message of what's inside.. Did I mention "Awesome" Idea? They do have a small area to sit and eat inside the building for breakfast but we rather Grab N Go! Lol.. We have kids and still had a long trip ahead of us...Lol Anyway, we enjoyed our quick stay at this Best Western Hotel! We will stay here again when we come back to town! Thank You Best Western Staff for an enjoys stay!
After spending the week traveling down Hwy 101 along the Oregon coast from Seattle to California, we landed in Crescent City with an overnight stay at this property. Unfortunately, this stay was a huge disappointment following our previous Best Western stays in Seaside and Lincoln City, Oregon. The restaurant was closed for remodeling and the parking lot had cones blocking access to the handicap stalls. This property seemed to be booked to capacity since parking was hard to come by. Small room with small bathroom and sink/vanity in room. I thought the bed was too hard, but my elderly mom thought her bed was fine. Room is a tight fit when mom uses a walker to navigate. Very thin walls... Ice machine located in another building. On the plus side, awesome staff at front desk. Map of self guided tour of close by Redwoods was superb! Breakfast in the morning was good and attending staff was great.
The motel itself and rooms were nice, but what sets this place above the rest is the friendly and very accommodating staff. The rooms were clean and the housekeepers (wish I had their names, but they all were great) were more than willing to help in any way they could (extra towels, clean sheets, you name it). The breakfast staff were amazing. Ivy and Tina Marie are true professionals. They time and time again went above and beyond during our long stay. Very polite and a tremendous asset to the motel. They represent customer care the way it should be. I wouldn't be able to say enough about their warm and friendly personalities,I would recommend Northwoods if for no other reason than to meet Ivy and Tina Marie. Thank you both!!!
I've stayed at many Best Western locations around the country and I have never been so disappointed. The spa was broken, the WiFi terrible, the rooms small, the noise from the housekeeping staff unbelievable and - I kid you not - someone screaming from upstairs that they were trapped against their will. The only redeeming aspect is that the breakfast was good and the staff in the breakfast room were very kind. The room itself was WAY to small to accommodate the number of guests though which made the lines for food or a place to eat pretty long. For the price I was paying I would expect a MUCH better experience.
The location worked out well for us. It is located close to the shore and some good dining options. The downside for us was the small breakfast room that can't handle the amount of people when the hotel is anywhere near full. There is a small gym off of the indoor pool that lacked any way to clean the equipment before using it. After getting a topical infection from dirty hotel equipment this is a pet peeve of mine. Additionally the temperature in the gym was pretty hot due to being by the heated indoor pool.
The hotel staff were all friendly and patient. Had absolutely no problems of any kind. Our room was clean and the pool and hot tub were welcome sites after hiking all day. Ivy and Johnny, in charge of breakfast, made the mornings fabulous, even packing a to-go bag for my daughter to take with her in the car. That to-go bag saved us a lot of trouble and time after 5 days on the road. It was a simple idea that made our trip so much better. Thank you Ivy and Johnny for your ingenuity in packing those to-go bags that are prefect for kids.
The location was convenient for us so we decided to stay one more night. The room was okay, not the best, but clean. The food in the breakfast room was not what we would normally eat on a regular basis in terms of healthy food, but I guess it was okay since we're on the road. The most important part of all was the staff in the breakfast room. Ivy and Johnny were really awesome. They were very attentive to everyone's need and prompt to provide what's needed. They made the breakfast enjoyable and what a nice way to start your day with so much kindness.
Breakfast was lovely. Ivy and Tina Marie were welcoming and we had a delicious breakfast. Hotel was in a great location! Would recommend staying here when in Crescent City- ocean view and so close to the Redwood National Parks, which are gorgeous!
This place not worth the money. The wifi did not work at all. Gave up after a while. We are usually camping on this trip, but go to a motel every few days for wifi service. The curtains were torn, had trouble with the clothes dryer, the TV lost sound. The noise was beyond belief, if someone used the shower it was like it was running next to you. You could hear people talking and walking around. As a former salesman and now traveling with the wife this is the worst place I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. This is the first time i have ever given a bad review to anyone, but they do deserve it. Would not recommend it to anyone, not even as a dog house.
We had a lovely stay and everyone at this best western was so nice, but Johnny and Ivy in the breakfast room were especially kind! We woke up late for breakfast and they let us in the breakfast room even though they were already cleaning up!! Very friendly and made sure we got enough to eat before starting the day. Great service! I hope to visit them again :) Mariah & Maddi
The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast area gave me many choices. The staff, Logan and Tina Marie, were extremely friendly and helpful. I don't know when I'll be back in this area but I would definitely stay here again. I hope your stay will be as pleasant as mine!
We stayed here impromptu, on our way along the coast. We stayed in a King Suite. Unfortunately, we were placed in a room in which construction debris was being cleaned up, starting at 6am. Thankfully the manager was kind, gracious, and very courteous in resolving. Her professionalism and demeanor made up for the issue we had with the unexpected noise. The restaurant is being renovated, so we didn't attempt to try the breakfast area - figuring it would be too crowded. In the room, the pillows were small and lumpy, and the hide-a-bed couch needs to be replaced. Otherwise the room was large, functional, and seemed fairly clean for an overnight stay. When the construction/renovation is completed, this Best Western should be a nice stop in Crescent City - especially with room service! In the meantime, there's still work to be done. Thank goodness the hotel has a fabulous manager!! We're giving the hotel a couple extra stars at this time, because of her.
I stayed at this hotel for a week on business trip. I requested for ocean view, I got it! The indoor swimming pools and fitness room are clean. Breakfast are American standard and even better than some of the surrounding restaurants. Ivy and Tina at the breakfast room are very friendly and polite. The two Receptionists are also friendly and nice, but I forgot their names.
Very clean surroundings, grounds and rooms. Staff was very helpful in setting up future reservations. Staff was also very helpful in recommending places for dinner or points of interest. Would highly recommend!
We stayed a remodeled room which was clean, quiet and spacious. This is a "complex" of 3 different buildings. The down side is the breakfast area is not big enough for the amount of guests that can stay at this facility. Food was standard for BW. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Our group of five had a very restful stay at this Best Western. I want to praise the breakfast staff of Ivy and Johnny particularly. Since the restaurant was undergoing remodeling, the smaller Conference Room was temporarily used for breakfast. In spite of the large crowd seeming to come at once, Ivy & Johnny very ably kept the delicious buffet selections replenished and still greeted each guest cheerfully & cordially. They started our day off on the right note!
I asked for a room away from the highway and was given a room in the back. It was nice and quiet. Breakfast had lots of choices. Easy check in & check out. Close to National Parks and Battery Lighthouse.
Basic room on the second floor, nothing special. the room was fine. Very busy place, didn't even try to use the pool as it was crowded with kids. Breakfast was a disaster. One small meeting room converted to eating area with large tables, with a small outdoor eating area. One single door in and out for hundreds of people. Using the waffle machine was difficult! the cooked food (eggs, sausage, bacon) ran out continually. The lady attendant was very nice and tried her best. After reno's are complete, the situation should improve. Overpriced? in my opinion, but if they get it and have full occupancy then so be it. Desk staff very nice (forget her name though). I've travelled the world with my computer and never forgot my power cord till this place. The cord wasn't turned into lost and found. I found that to be disappointing.
Couldn't have asked for a better room. Restaurant was under construction so breakfast being served at hotel instead - great service from friendly cook TinaMarie. Room was large, lots of windows, and extremely clean. Internet access was "iffy" with poor signal and difficulty getting connection but other than that, excellent stay and I would choose this hotel again.
Third floor is new, spotless and as nice as best westerns can be. Eureka and Arcata are seedy, dirty towns so we moved out base to visit the redwood parks. It was a great choice. Check out the sea lions across the street and a visit to the lighthouse makes for a good evening
I'm staying in a BW right now in Utah that is not a Plus and I find it better than this hotel. Although it doesn't have the frig and microwave. Pros: great bed, tub and shower head, microwave and frig, patio, heat lamp in bathroom, lamp with extra outlets. Cons: very dated fixtures for a Plus hotel, the bathroom door wouldn't stay open so VERY dark at night. Hook in bath was broken so had to put clothes on floor. I like BW and I rate all five stars hotels comparing with a BW Plus in Valdosta Georgia. So I was a little disappointed with this one.
I very much have enjoyed or stay here at this inn! We got in very late and the lady greeted us in a very friendly manner and was very helpful in getting us to our room and making sure we had everything we needed at such a late hour. We went to their breakfast the next morning and it was wonderful. The food was good, but mostly me and my family appreciated the excellent service we received from Tina and Johnny. They were very friendly and helpful and made sure they continually checked in on us to ensure we were having a great experience and a pleasant breakfast. They kept everything very clean and neat. Would recommend this place to anyone in a heart beat !
We stayed here for 3 nights just this past week in August. And WOW, were we shocked. The newly remodeled room was Gigantic on the 3rd floor (it was a 2 bed room/DBL). I was first pleased with how clean and new everything was. And very happy to see an elevator! Not only did the room have the 2 beds we paid for, but also a love seat, desk & chair, & "cushy" chair with ottoman. I have never stayed in a regular DBLE that was that big, it was like a suite. And the bathroom was great. Very large, plenty of room and shelving for everything. I think you could probably get 4 people in the shower if you were so inclined. I was also pleased to see a separate area outside of the main room and bathroom that housed the fridge and microwave. The fridge is extra big which was nice for us. The closet in the room was also like a full size closet, and not like most hotel rooms. -Pool was fine, typical hotel pool. They did have a hot tub and nice sauna. Only glanced in the fitness room, and it also looked typical. -We only ate breakfast there one morning. It was adequate and a normal "free" breakfast like at other hotels. Overall we would stay there again and loved the value for the type of room!
We got a deluxe room with a kitchen that was VERY nice! Fantastic big room with fancy bathroom. However, for the location and run-down town, the room was over-priced (and that's why I give it 3 green circles). There also is NO view which is disappointing for a beach town. The area is very foggy, so there is a lighthouse that blasts it's fog horn every 30 seconds. We could hear it loudly. Indoor Pool area nice but parents were not supervising their young/noisy kids at all.
This was a great hotel for a one night stay. The room was perfectly nice. Clean, and you can hear the harbor. The breakfast was one of the better included complimentary breakfasts we've had, including eggs and bacon and waffles and all sorts of bread products. We did not have time to swim in the pool, but did check it out and my daughter was bummed we couldn't use it. All in all it was a nice, comfortable and clean stay and I'd stay there again.
I am a Clean Freak and this Place is Clean. Friendly Service at Check-in and Great Little Breakfast. What else do you need ? Served us well for 1 Night. Hint, if you are a AAA Member, don't forget to ask for your Discount...

Thank you for your review, we appreciate that our efforts to create a clean and comfortable stay for you were appreciated! We hope you visit us again.
Nice accommodations, with hot breakfast. TinaMarie & Ivy provided great breakfast service on a very busy morning. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not opened due to renovation. Motel was sold out, so reservations are highly recommended.

Thank you for commenting about your stay! I will be sure to share your compliments with TinaMarie and Ivy, they will be so happy they were mentioned. We can't wait for the restaurant to open, we are so excited for the improvements planned! Sincerely, Patricia
Room was new on the third floor. Nice large room with nice comfortable beds. Room was clean and mostly quiet. Mini frig. and nice TV. Breakfast was provided. Great selection of cold and warm food. The breakfast area was much too small to accommodate all the families around 8 am. So go early or late.
My daughter and I stayed here for one night while traveling down the Oregon and California coast. Our room was clean. The breakfast was certainly adequate. Our room was on the first floor. There is not a lobby entrance. The door to the room leads to the parking lot. To me the price reflected traveling on the California coast in July and not the actual value of the room.
We stayed in the Newly remodeled room on the third floor, the room was very clean, spacious and the bathroom was the same. The indoor pool and Sana was a blast for the kids, the included breakfast was filling and quick.
clean rooms friendly staff, we got in late and the front desk girl was super nice. Location is not the greatest but parking was good. Breakfast is usually really good but restaurant was under construction so it was not in the same location.
Location was great, right off of Hwy 1/101 and the area was terrific. The staff was knowledgeable of the local restaurants and the suggestions were terrific. Room was nice, beds comfortable, amenities adequate. Pool and hot tub were indoors, that kept area very muggy, but worked, also a sauna. breakfast was OK. parking was tight, but OK. Restaurant on property was closed due to renovation, but warning was on reservation.
Phase three of our family adventure has had a rough start! We arrived at Crescent City and attempted to check into The Best Western Hotel Plus, where we have never in all our years of travel been treated as poorly and as shockingly rudely as Patricia Coburn the General Manager of the Best Western Hotel Plus in Crescent City, CA treated us today. When we asked further questions about the room booked by Priceline, she actually changed from her pleasant welcoming personality into a very hostile woman and with dramatically raised voice, kicked us out of her hotel. We were astonished! This is particularly troubling because Priceline does not offer refunds and now we were stuck w/o lodging for our family of 6 in a strange town. Dennis tried to phone her a few minutes later to make peace and sort it out, but she remained extremely hostile and with much yelling, hung up on him. It has resolved beautifully with the BayView Inn's Alicia, answering all our questions and giving us a fantastic deal on a room with a jacuzzi! Although we are sad to pay double hotel fees this night, Alicia's kindness has won the day! We are going to bed happy and hopeful that Best Western will hire more welcoming employees and will take action to right this wrong. Until then, Best Western is not on our "recommend to friends" list.
Property was dated last time I stayed here, but is being upgraded/remodeled and looking good!. Breakfast room is currently small, but will be in larger space soon. Walking distance to restaurants and other attractions. Spa temperature was to cold for me.
First let me say, I don't think there is an awesome hotel in Crescent City. We were visiting the Redwood National Park, so it was a convenient place to stay. The hotel was clean, although the carpets felt old. Our room did have a cute little patio that overlooked a spa. The rooms were decent and the beds comfortable. The pool was an indoor pool, which I don't care for and it was rather gross looking. My son swam in it, but I wouldn't get in and made him shower when he was done.
We stayed one night at this motel and we do not believe that it should be rated in Best Western's Plus category. The breakfast room was small and cramped - very unpleasant. The accomadation is the old standard with all doors facing the outside. Our door was so heavy and damaged that it would hardly open. Once we got into the room, we could hardly close the door.
The best part of this place was the people who work there. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful to a fault, pleasant and competent. We used Crescent City as the "base" for visits to different destinations in the northern part of the Redwood NP and SP. This hotel was highly rated, but I can't really say how it got BW's "Plus" designation. That would be quite a stretch. It was well kept and clean. The beds were fine. There was nothing exceptional about it except the service. They were renovating the restaurant where breakfast is normally served, so the buffet was moved to a small meeting room that got quite crowded. I'm not sure how long the redo will take, but it really was not as comfortable as it might have been. We were glad we requested a larger double room on the ground floor. It made it easier to get our luggage in and out, and those rooms appeared to all be in the separate building behind the main building which made it very quiet and private.
Friendly staff, great location! The view to the marina was beautiful with a short drive to the Redwoods. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were great as well as the sauna. The workout room looked good although we did not use it.
We booked this hotel because it was supposed to be a Best Western Plus. Well, it was anything but plus. The rooms are small with a cramped bathroom and very snug toilet and shower. The noise level was terrible and the people upstairs were very noisy and sounded like elephants living up there. Even tho the mattresses were very good and I slept well, so many other things just dragged the overall rating down. Our door was VERY difficult to open and it had to be slammed closed, much to the annoyance to our neighbors, I am sure. The breakfast room was very small for such a large property. Many people looked and an left probably for their favorite restaurant. The food was acceptable however. We would never stay there again.
Just passing through on our way to Portland and the grounds were sufficient for a night's stay. Bed was very comfortable and staff was super friendly. Not much in the immediate area but it was perfect for what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend for someone in the area.
We needed a place to stop before continuing on to the Redwoods and San Francisco after a day of driving. Clean, helpful staff, easy access right off the 101. Across from the marina. It is on the south end of town with many amenities a short drive/walk away. One of the best rated restaurants in town is right next door and stay open later than most.
Very disappointing. Weekend getaway without the amenities. Hot tub was scary cloudy green color. Couldn't get in to breakfast as space so crowded there was a line out the door. Room dirty, stained sheets. Bed was comfortable, pillows good and water was hot in shower. Super expensive for a hot shower and a bed to sleep in.
I expected a flea bag based on reviews. Instead we found a clean well kept motel. Shower was great. Beds were just ok...but clean! If I have any complaints it was the pillow and the people jumping up and down on the second floor which is not the hotels fault. For the area which does not have a lot of options this place is ok.
We did book this place with the intention to just have a nice, price-worthy and clean place to stay. This place did full-fill all those requirements. The breakfast was ok, a little buffet. We never had dinner in this city, I think Crescent city might not be the best Tourist location, it seemed quite dead.
The hotel was really nice, the bathrooms were big and clean. But I was most impressed by the lady running breakfast. Tina Marie did a great job with breakfast. It was so busy and she was by herself and was friendly and kept up with the morning rush. She did an incredible job this morning.
The accommodations were good, but the friendly staff (including the hotel's maintenance person were amazing and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was. (Thank you Tina Marie and Johnny.) The only negative is that the keycard situation is outdated. Got locked out a couple times and had to see the front desk to change out the card.
The accommodation was alright, the room was clean. I would say average because when we stayed on this hotel, there was an ongoing renovation on one of their building and our room was close to it. Luckily we checked in late and so the construction stopped for the night. The noise will wake you up in the morning like an alarm clock but were staying only for one night. The breakfast was already over just when it started, i don't understand why when they have still guests coming in to get their free breakfast. Anyway, they should have just said that breakfast comes with an added fee instead of saying free. That way, guests wont have too much expectations.
I'd just like to take the opportunity to recognize 3 great employees for outstanding customer service. Johnny and Logan in breakfast area. They went above and beyond and made sure I was well taken care of even giving me a water bottle on the way out Also Robert at front desk was very helpful and pleasant after a long time long day of traveling. He even made some great recommendations for dinner and things to do in the area. Great job to these outstanding employees
The hotel was very nice and was well located for our purpose, experiencing the Redwoods. The room was clean and comfortable and the facility was well kept and clean. The only downfall was, the dining room for breakfast was small and crowded. Not much room to move around and the serving line was not efficient. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.
We stayed in a new 3rd floor room. It was spacious, clean, well furnished and decorated. AC worked well. We had a view of the harbor. We enjoyed the stay. Our only disappointment was that the hot tub was out of order, and the pool is only 4' deep.
Having stayed in 3 previous hotels so far on our trip this was the most disappointing which was surprising considering it is in the Best Western chain. On arrival the room had an air of dampness which didn't really disappear. We were in room 227 and both mornings we heard the people above us use the loo, shower and walk constantly back and forward in their room - all at 5 am! Sound proofing appears to be nonexistent and it is the noisiest plumbing I have ever heard in a hotel. The first morning wasn't a problem as we were getting up early but when it happened again we were less than impressed. We used the gym at 6 pm on the first day and the fresh towel trolley was full of soiled ones. The towel stock should be regularly checked. At checkout, when asked if we enjoyed our stay I had to ask the man on reception to look up from his screen so it looked like he was genuinely interested. He did say we should have communicated our concerns earlier which on hindsight we should have but we were too busy exploring the Redwood Parks. On the plus side Tina Marie and Johnny in the breakfast room were lovely, friendly and couldn't do enough for the guests. If I was going back to Crescent City I would opt for a different hotel.
We had a big upstairs end room with a king bed which was very comfortable because we had a good night's sleep. The tub/shower [grab bar] and small round toilet are in one room, while the sink and large counter are in the main. Very fast WIFI and everything looked clean. Had the usual furniture and fridge/freezer. Super breakfast. There was the usual breads, cereals, and fruit, but also bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and sausage links! The restaurant next door is not done yet, but when it is, I believe you will be able to go there for a buffet breakfast.
We were heading down the coast of Oregon and didn't want to arrive at a city without a reservation so we booked this one. It has average accommodations, below-average breakfast (too crowded for the number of people staying and eating there) at an above-average price (read: expensive). If it's all you can find, book it, but there must be something less expensive with equally decent rooms and food.
I was late to get food bye like 15 mins and they opened up the food area just for me and gave me food inside and little bags the staff here are amazing. I would stay here again any time amazing place and amazing staff.
We stayed here with our two grandsons. The room was very clean. The double queen room is not huge like a lot to the Best Western chain but you need to take into consideration that this is an older hotel. The staff is great. You are very close to everything in Crescent City and Klamath. The restaurant is being remodeled so the breakfast room is very small. There are some tables outside.
We were greeted nicely. The room was air-conditioned and adequate. The shower and storage was limited. The breakfast room was chaotic. Tables were crammed into a tiny room and customers jostled to get to the food provided. The coffee was poor and the muffins were cold from the refrigerator. It was a bit of an education but not one I would like to repeat. Being fair it is a motel and if your expectations are set modestly it will perhaps not disappoint.
Very clean: Oversize "bar" Refrigerator; Microwave and 4 Cup coffee maker. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Breakfast room unbelievably small for the amount of rooms and people. Food was ordinary. Hot tub looked inviting but was due to close by the timer I saw it. Did not eat locally as we had a late lunch so we appreciated the refrigerator and microwave to reheat left-overs. Would have REALLY appreciated plastic cutlery (to complement the Microwave) in the room as a coffee stir stick did not cut it.
The room was large and the A/C was so quiet I did not realize it was on. The shower head was the best I have seen. The only complaint was that the breakfast room was much too small. Many guests carried paper plates back to their room.
The room was ok, clean, but older rooms with a funny smell. The breakfast area was the biggest concern. There was one lady that was doing it all, Tina Marie. The are doing some construction on the regular breakfast area, so there were probably 60 + people for breakfast in a very small area. Tina Marie was having to go to a different area to make the food and bring it back to the breakfast area. She was working so hard with a smile on her face. I believed that they needed more help for her in the breakfast area.
Room was large and clean. Nice restaurant nearby. Layout was odd but it worked ok if you didn't need to use the gym or pool. Nice breakfast in a weird little room out back but good was decent. Overall pretty nice. It was right across from a pier and the ocean.
The room was clean and comfortable. A good value. Employees at the front desk, dining room and housekeeping were all helpful and friendly. Stayed two nights so we were able to visit the lighthouse and enjoy some nice seafood.
We stayed in the family room. Lots of room and bedding for adults and children. Kuddos are to be awarded for comfortable beds. I have a bad back and hip so a good mattress can make or break my stay. The harbor view was a plus and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.
Overall the stay was great. Breakfast area could have been better designed, more entrance/exits. Food was good, though. Staff was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
Basic breakfast with a big room, fairly well working WiFi. You might expect better breakfast from a best Western plus, as we saw no difference from a "regular" best Western. Just a regular motel actually.
This is my second time staying at this hotel. This time we stayed in the family room ( we had several kids with us) and it was wonderfully LARGE. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The only bad this was the fitness room is kinda lame and the breakfast room is tiny. They are however working on changing the breakfast to the hotel they are building so that will be great.
Nice, well maintained mid range, family hotel. Although I called to confirm adjoining/connecting rooms when I made the reservation, they did not honor that request. With small children that's a real problem. Although the front desk was able to put us in a 4 queen room, which was nice. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the breakfast area was way too small! It was so crowded that you could barely move. The food was okay, but we waited about ten minutes just to make a waffle.
Excellent breakfast..clean and the food was hot. Large buffet and choices. Thank you Tina Marie and Johnny. For the excellent breakfast. The hotel was very easy to find it was right off the main drag.
The ease of booking, clean comfortable room, relaxing spa, and delicious breakfast made this experience a memorable add on to our coastal trip! Special thanks to Tina Marie and Logan for serving one of the best breakfasts we've had on this vacation so far! We highly recommend this hotel, great value for the price!!!
The rooms were fine, the breakfast very good, and the staff friendly and helpful. The woman hosting the breakfast room, Tina Marie, really went out of her way to accommodate guests. I'd definitely stay here again.
We truly enjoyed this family friendly hotel. Our room was a newer suite and very spacious. Indoor pool/hot tub and a dry sauna and workout room all well maintained. Every staff person we interacted with was friendly and housekeeping did great at keeping our room clean during our three day visit. We will definitely be back and I recommend this place to big families.
Thank you Tinamarie and Logan, two employees running breakfast. It was a scrumptious breakfast and they could not do enough for us. We were very impressed with overall standard of this motel, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lynne M
I want to give a thanks to Tina Mari, the employee running the breakfast. She did a great job! Great attitude too. The room was not the greatest. It seemed very cramped. The floor tiles were cracked and the room had a bad odor when we arrived. I thought for the price it would be nicer. Just a basic motel feeling. Very nice breakfast though.
The hotel was very clean and staff was caring. The pool was in good condition and my children enjoyed it. The internet worked well and desk staff was helpful when needed. Breakfast was ample. The breakfast area was a bit crowded.
Clean hotel, great location. a bit pricey but not to bad... people above us were extremely loud, called manager and the handled it... The spring on the front door was so strong my wife needed help opening door... That being said, I would stay there again...
Stayed here my first night on road trip up the Oregon Coast. Basic hotel room and clean. Outstanding shower pressure, very comfortable beds, and our room ( on the second floor near the office) had fast internet. Breakfast selection was better than expected. No elevator so be prepared to walk up steps with luggage if you have a second story room.
CHECK IN: was fast and friendly and they tried to accommodate my request for a room with a view. ROOM: we had a king room which has good sized. It came with a refrigerator, microwave, and a flat screen tv. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. BREAKFAST: One of the better breakfast places for this priced range of a hotel. The hostess was right there ready to replenish items before running out. Two waffle makers, bacon, sausage, 4 kinds of cold cereal, oatmeal (packets), breads (toast, beagles), hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and sorted juices. Great breakfast with plenty of tables to sit down to eat inside or outside. CHECK OUT: was fast and easy. OVERALL: it was expensive for what you get but it was July 4th weekend and all hotels in the area are way overpriced BUT, all around, a great stay. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Great location for sightseeing in this area of parks. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great complimentary breakfast serving everything from eggs, waffles, cereal, and fruit. Newly redone room. Best shower of all the hotels we were in this month.
Unfortunately not the best experience, although the hotel was adequate it is not a best Western "plus" considering I had just stayed at a plus hotel in hood river that was fantastic, this hotel was lacking in Decour and services, the room was also supposed to be a non-smoking room and by the smell it was obviously a smoking room prior to them deodorizing it, the hallways were dingy and dirty filthy carpet no baseboards, best western should be careful to protect their brand if they want to make the plus line A step up, this property definitely damages that brand
Stopped here on way from sf to portland. Staff very friendly, we stayed in the newer building in the back, clean and newer room. The hotel is cross street from the harbor, where we visited the sea lions/seals in the morning. Breakfast was good, with enough choice for kids.
The hotel was easy to find, clean and comfortable. The staff in the lobby at my check-in were very efficient and friendly. Since the restaurant at the hotel was undergoing renovations, they suggested an excellent nearby restaurant for dinner. The only improvement I can think of is to add an elevator.
Everything was nice and clean. Breakfast was fabulous and the guys working kept it restocked and very friendly with helping you with any thing you needed. Location was within walking distance of a good restaurant for dinner and it was only a few blocks to the ocean
I stayed at this motel with my family on a recent trip to the Redwoods. The staff was courteous, efficient and helpful with restaurant recommendations & directions to attractions. The room was spacious and clean. There was some construction going on to improve some of the rooms but there was no noise so it did not effect our stay. Great on-site laundry facilties. Wi-fi service was adequate.
Pricey given the area. Others in area would be worth checking out. The walls are paper thin. If you stay I highly recommend a room on the upper level. Every step, and there were MANY, the upstairs guests took sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. The room was clean as were the grounds. The desk help was very friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed with everything you need but decor is basic. Bathroom door didn't fit properly and wouldn't catch. Given the price and NOISE I would compare others in the area.
We were so happy to find a hotel in this central location city. It is located right across the street from the harbor--so an easy walk to see the ocean. The hotel was very clean and updated. Nice pool, and behind our room was a nice little hot tub. The flowers around the hotel were beautiful and there was a neat fountain out front as well. The staff was very helpful in telling us places to visit, and very accommodating! They had a large breakfast in the morning. We stayed 2 nights since it's so close to so much in the redwood forest area and beaches.
This is our go-to motel in the Brookings-Crescent City area although we do love the Brookings Best Western which is much more expensive. This motel is very attractive from the street and they had an excellent restaurant that is now being updated which causes a long wait at the 'next door' restaurant. The new third floor is wonderful. The lower two are older rooms however, everything is clean, the Internet and TV work well. There are REAL coffee mugs and the 4-cup coffee maker which I appreciate over the one-cup ones in other properties. I wish the sink was in the bath room as it is easier to get dressed when one's spouse is sleeping in. The breakfast traditionally was at the now being-upgraded restaurant but now is served in the motel area. It is very good with a large selection of choices.
The hotel and room were comfortable, clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that the water temperature fluctuated a lot when I was taking a shower. I suspect they do that on purpose to encourage you to get out sooner....
Nice hotel, breakfast is typical for this type of place. All of the staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean and nice size with a microwave and fridge. The pool area was a little small and the exercise room was very small but all in all an enjoyable experience.
Nice location close to both a great beach and the amazing Redwood National Park. The motel was very comfortable. When we made reservations, they did not tell us their attached restaurant was being remodeled. The free breakfast at the motel was very good, but in a temporary room that was way too crowded. The staff,Tina Marie and a young man, should be commended for being helpful and cheerful enough to keep the hungry crowd fed and happy. We would stay there again, but would check to make sure there was no construction.
I felt very safe here, which is important as I am a female and was traveling alone with 4 children under 7 years old. Everything was great. The employees were super nice and I felt like I could ask them anything. We swam in the pool for hours and hours. The pool and the pool area were clean and nice. It was a great pool for kids because the "deep end" was just 4 feet. Though we didn't eat the continental breakfast because we all slept so well and slept late, the outdoor patio area for breakfast was very charming.
Incompetent front desk staff. We were placed a great distance from the fbuilding where the front desk in located and had to trek there to get the keys validated for the second day. Housekeeping had not been advised we were staying over and we needed to leave the room so it could be serviced. We were not told the place was under construction. Seriously inadequate breakfast room for the number of guests.
I like the hotel. It is neat and clean. The internet is ok.The breakfast buffet is wonderful. The attendant TinaMarie is so very helpful and her male counterpart is also. The laundry room is neat and clean along with being locked.
So...we arrive at the Best Western Northwoods and go to check in. Beckylynn greets us with a smile and welcomes us. Then, out of nowhere, we get a free upgrade to a suite. Perfect location across from marina, so we take a stroll and see a seal and an awesome sunset! Get back to the hotel and ask Beckylynn where in the Redwoods is the must see. She says she loves to talk about the Redwoods and goes into the closet and brings out a map and a book. Then highlights route, copies and prints maps off of computer! She went way beyond what any person should! Thank you Beckylynn for starting our week long vacation perfectly! We followed your suggested routes and they were Perfect! You are the Best! Sincerely, The Cool Beans People!
We had a pleasant experience staying at this Best Western. TinaMarie and Logan were very pleasant, efficient and helpful in keeping the breakfast area supplied with food. Check out was easy. Easy access.
Staff was very courteous, and outgoing and gave information on the pool location, hours and also information on laundry facilities within the hotel. Room, including the bathroom was very clean and spacious. The cleaning staff did a great job. The hotel seemed to be fully booked both nights we stayed; the parking spaces seemed a little bit narrow, but this was only a minor issue.
The women over seeing the breakfast bar was very pleasant and helpful she made a nice awaking to our stay here. We will stay here agian...They were having a bit of upgrades to rooms and construction and a new restaurant there building on site, but staff made it all come together owner and staff seem to be using my modal . "Always learning, always growing" Lol
This Best Western provided the worst customer service I have received in years.. The staff and management were very unhelpful on our arrival and departure. I went into the office twice to ask about the hot water, internet and no phone service. None of these issues were addressed or fixed during my stay. I was told by both management and an employee that it should be working, sorry was their reply. The manager was at the front desk at check in and check out, they were very unprofessional and not helpful They were too busy visiting with others and not helpful to their staff or customers. If you want to be ignored and treated as a non person please check in here! The hotel is in the middle of renovations so there was construction materials all over the parking area and walkways. The room did not have phone service or internet service. Hot water worked in one room and not another. I will be taking this place off my list for future visits.
We stayed here for 2 nights while exploring the area. The staff was great, accommodating our request for a quiet location, which was quiet. Everyone we met had a smile and were ready to help out if needed. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room for all of our belongings. We did laundry there and the washers and dryers were in good condition. The only thing I can complain about was the breakfast. They were late both mornings in getting the food and coffee out. If you say breakfast is served at 6:00, then it should be there at 6:00, not 6:15. One morning, some construction workers were pretty upset because they were there at 6:00 and ready to eat and go to work and the food or coffee wasn't ready. We also had places to go to and explore so it was kind of irritating having to wait. They have the breakfast in a small conference room so there isn't much room for more than a dozen people or so and there isn't enough space between the food line and the tables for more than one person to pass by. When you have a hotel of this size with that many rooms, you'd think have would have it in a larger room. When they finally got the food out, it was pretty good, unfortunately, you had to wait awhile for fresh coffee to come back out as they only had one pot in use. However, looking at the bigger picture, I'd rather have the breakfast issues instead of issues with the room or the bed. We would come back here, we would just find another place to have breakfast.
We were a little wary when we pulled up and saw that there was minimal parking due to construction. But the staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and plentiful. We were pleasantly surprised and I suspect it will be even better once the construction is done.

Thank you do much for having chosen to stay with us, we appreciate you letting us take care of you!
Good hotel, good price. Breakfast was sub-par. Other than that not a bad hotel to stay at. Pool was big & we had a great time playing in it. Also like that the doorways were card controlled. Comfortable bed and a nice room. All in all we enjoyed staying here & would recommend this hotel.
The staff was very nice and our room had a little patio off it that faced the hot tub that we really liked but It has MOLD in the bathroom!!!! That was very frustrating. I did not even want to give my kids a bath in the tub!!!
Great run motel with top notch staff, and this is during the Memorial Day Weekend, with 100's of screaming kids around. LOL Lots of help, very friendly. Will stay again. Great seafood place just down and across the street (Hwy 101), and you can walk there. It's only a short drive to Brookings, Or., or the Redwoods. You can't go wrong with a stay here.
Room was pretty great for what it was. This isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but it's more than acceptable. Breakfast in the morning was more plentiful than expected. Staff was very accommodating for us. Nothing but good things to say about them.

We stayed here for one night while seeing the redwoods. It was okay. For some reason we ended up in a handicap room where a bunch of construction was going on. Couldn't park near our room. The room wasn't very clean, the floor turned my white socks black. Bed wasn't very comfortable either. Their continental breakfast was okay. The room was so small, it was hard to get what you wanted and there was no where to sit, we had to take ours back to our room to eat it.
This is a very well appointed Best Western Hotel. The location is a bit south of Crescent City, just across from the very large public boat docks. Their best asset is reception desk personnel who are very helpful, friendly, and informative as to which activities may be of interest for customers to pursue while touring this most interesting area of the Redwoods Area in the Del Norte Area. we were informed as to the Redwoods Areas, the Lighthouse tours, and where to dine. The breakfast dining area was busy as the offerings were very tasty. The staff furnished and refreshed the offerings, as well as keeping the remains cleared.
At first we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and the cleanliness. However our opinion quickly changed when our neighbors at the room above us entered their room. (We had a room on the ground floor)You can literally hear every footstep! Not only that but during the night we came to find out that when our upstairs neighbors or to the room adjacent went to the bathroom we could hear the actual flushing of the toilet. At 6 in the morning our upstairs neighbors went for a shower, that was the end of our already restless night. The noise of the shower is unbelievable loud. Niet only were we wilde awake, but it made us feet guilty to use ours because of the noise we would be making, and perhaps the people we were to wake up. We are not light sleepers and are quickly satisfied with a hotel/motel, but this really was our worst night sleep in a long time. Wish I would have known, i'd never spend my money here!!
When I arrived in the room it was so hot! Then, in the morning the room had condensation everywhere, no wonder the AC wasn't turned on. There was no outlet close to the bed to charge anything. You are paying way more than you are getting. The free breakfast was nice though.
The Northwoods Inn is a member of the Best Western chain of hotels. Therefore, I believe you can be pretty much guaranteed a good stay. The rooms were nice and comfortable, beds fine, shower and bathroom clean and in good working order. The drawback for us was the breakfast component where we were smashed into a conference room while restaurant renovations were being made. The poor employees were toting food from the office area. The space was way too small for the number of guests. However, everyone made the best of the situation. Check if the renovation is complete before you stop here, however.
We thought Best Western would be nicer for the price that what we found. They were remodeling (which we didn't know) and the restaurant was closed. Our room was clean but worn. Parking wasn't the best because of construction. In all fairness, it may be much better again when finished. We will stay elsewhere next time.
Very well-kept, clean and conveniently located. Right on the highway, but set back. Beds were uber-comfortable.. Even though the restaurant was under construction, they provided a hot breakfast in a room near the pool, and the attendant was kind enough to let us eat when we arrived a few minutes after their closing time. Coin-operated laundry was very convenient; free wash and paid dryer. Great rates when booked through a booking website. Nice large flat screen TV . An elevator made access to upper floors easy, although we were on ground floor, near the laundry and pool. Great place, highly recommended.
I've stayed here on several trips to see family in Oregon. This place is clean and comfortable especially compared to the other hotels in the area. We stayed on the ground floor both times I went and it was not bad. The blackout curtains help!
Nice place to stay. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is the breakfast room is too small for the volume of visitors and the layout cause a clog for people trying to get in and those trying to put together their breakfast. Has a nice pool and hot tub for rainy days at the coast. Not far from a beach.
We stayed here for 1 night and were surprised to get a disabled room. We queried this and was told it was due to us booking through a third party web site. The room was a decent size with comfortable beds but the decor is a bit dark. Also the shower is set up for disabled people and a therefore a bit low, plus the shower floor was covered in linoleum, very strange. The next day we discovered the room was lacking coffee and toiletries. On the plus side the hotel is close to the harbour where you can see some seals. There is also a small indoor swimming pool. Also the free breakfast was ok, especially the scrambled eggs. Adequate for a one night stop.
This was a one night stay as we were making our way home along the coast. The hotel was very comfortable and located directly across from the harbor. The central location was perfect for us and allowed us to spend the time we were in town driving around and seeing the beautiful sites.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us! We appreciate that out of all of the many choices in our area, you allowed us to care for you. Safe Travels Always! Sincerely, Patricia Coburn
The room that we were fortunate to have was newly remodeled and on the third floor level. The only problem that we had was that the towel bar brackets were not all tightened but this in no way affected our stay. New modern LED can lights with dimmer switch at some of them and the room was very quiet. Beautiful new large shower stall (not a tub) with clear glass door that was a pleasure to use.
Do not spend your money here. This place is nothing more than a converted Motel 6 or a Econo lodge. If you are on any floor other than ground floor you will have carry your luggage up the stairs. THERE IS NO ELEVATER. The rooms are on the outside. We are not eating breakfast here. This place got to me for $144 dollars. Walls are paper thin I can here the next room as I write this.
The beds were so comfortable and I had a great nights rest the entire trip. It was a very clean place even though the restaurant was undergoing construction. The entire staff was very pleasant and friendly while remaining professional.
Best Western Plus provides better overall value compared to other more costly options. They make staying a smooth and easy experience. We will always consider Best Western first for any future travel accommodations.
I stayed at this hotel for business. I was in room #219 and it was so loud! I heard the people walking around upstairs all night long, toilets flushing, showers running....then, the refrigerator started making noise! It was a very restless night.
BWPLUSNorthwoods, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Northwoods Inn, responded to this review
We apologize that you had a restless night, we know especial for those guests coming to our area for business a quiet night is important! Please when you stay in the future, be sure to let us know of your special needs, we are always looking for ways to make our guest's stays better. Sincerely, Patricia Coburn General Manager
This hotel was a bad experience for us. The king bed was comfortable, and the carpet was new, so very clean, but otherwise this was a most unhappy stay for us. We had to go through an entire building to get to our room. The shower water was warm, but the shower had very little water pressure. People came in next door making a great deal of noise around 9:00 p.m. The next morning, they were opening and closing a squeaky door at 4:00 a.m. By 5:00 a.m., they were leaving their room, making all kinds of noise. It was a good thing we had gone to sleep early the night before! Because of the breakfasts we had been offered the previous two mornings at Best Westerns, I looked forward to breakfast here. What did I expect?? To go along with our other experiences here, there was not one gluten-free option available to me, so I left hungry (and grumpy!) I can't recommend this place at all.
The Best Western in Crescent City was a wonderful break after two days of hard driving. I made the reservation over the internet and did not know what to expect. The staff were very professional, exceedingly helpful and pleasant. The room was very clean, well appointed and modern. And, for those interested, the wifi was very fast. Travis and Logan kept the breakfast buffet very clean, well stocked and were more than happy to provide assistance and information. I will definitely return to this location if we are in the area again.
Our stay at the hotel was good. The room was clean, but not very spacious. The breakfast was the basic hotel breakfast with cereal, toast and waffles. Make sure you bring your hotel key with you to breakfast. The door is locked and other guests may just look at you instead of opening the door.
We were booked for 2 nights but the room was very basic and noisy and not very clean. Complained to the front desk who kindly let us cancel the second night and couldn't have been more helpful. They are undertaking renovation of the hotel so maybe it will improve.

We appreciate that you understood that improvement is always a process! We are excited to be able to provide updated and upgraded services and amenities for our awesome guests.
An average hotel, but clean and right next to the ocean. The real stand out here is the staff and the service they provided. I stay in a TON of hotels for business, and I have yet to see a nicer more accommodating staff.
BWPLUSNorthwoods, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Northwoods Inn, responded to this review
Jason, Thank you so much for your review. Some in the business say "a room is a room", and in many ways this is true. I believe that to stand out, we have to remember that we are tasked with actually caring for our guests. It's a Best Western motto we have taken to heart. It gladdens me that we have been able to take good care of you! Sincerely, Patricia Coburn
Reserved my room and arrived later that day. No upgrades currently available this visit so asked for a quiet room. The first room I was given was not ready and I had to walk around the building as the carpet was being repalced. Went back to the office and got my second room which was fine. This property has been remodeling for as long as I've been going here. The good part is when you get the third floor new rooms it's awesome. The bad part is when you don't get one of those rooms it's a bummer. Can't wait til the restaurant is finished is really convenient when it's open.
Our room was clean and comfortable. It isn't fancy, but it works for a good night's rest on the way up the coast. Check-in was quick and easy. The restaurant wasn't open, but there was a good restaurant next door.
This BW+ is in the midst of a remodel. The restaurant was closed, and breakfast buffet was in an over-crowded conference room. On the days I was there, the pool was also closed and refilling. My room was in a building at the back of the property and should have been quiet, but a portion was under construction and the spa was closed. It will be much better when finished, but for now it does not live up to BW+ status.
Che,clean in went well. Room looked good but was not ready. All lites owere not plugged in, refrigerator did not work, Door to next room was open. we were not offered to change room right away but they put our ice packs needed for back care in the office frig. The office manager told us breakfast was served till 10 am turned out breakfast ended ar 9am. She never admitted she was wrong. Staff was generally condescending. Breakfast down the street was excellent even though it took $30 out of our budget
My review is similar to others. Check-in was very pleasant (thank you Robyn!) and efficient. When we called to let them know we would be checking in late, they were really nice - and suggested that we eat before we got to the hotel, as there is no restaurant on the property. The room was clean - but the hallway was not (looks like the hallway hasn't been vacuumed in a long, long time). The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was ok (hard to find a place to sit, and lots of kids crammed into the tiny room). Again, the staff was super nice. The pool was disappointing. Even late at night, it was swarming with kids (even in the Jacuzzi) whose parents were pretty checked out and not paying any attention to what they were doing, or how they were behaving. It would have been nice to soak in the Jacuzzi after a long day of touring, but there was no way we would fit in with all those kids. Overall, this is a solid choice for the weary traveler - decent breakfast, clean room, nice staff. We would probably stay here again if we were in the area.
Although the pool was closed, I would still stay here again. The staff were great and the hotel was nice as well. We were travelling through from San Francisco to Oregon. I called ahead and was able to reserve a room without any problems. My credit card wasn't working properly when we arrived (was flagged as we were travelling) and they held the room for us until it got sorted out. Very very helpful staff.
So the room itself was pretty nice for this class of hotel, however, we had issues. My son had been really looking forward to swimming following a long drive and nearing the end of our vacation. We had specifically adjusted our route to hit this hotel. In fact I had made the reservation through tripadvisor just a few hours earlier. When we arrived, we found out the pool was being renovated. Our only options were another lengthy car ride (already past dinner time) or pay substantially more at another hotel. We were told the hot tub was functional. After some negotiations with my son, the hot tub would do. When we put our stuff in our room, we were disappointed the in room refrigerator was not working. We were offered the chance to move to another room, but we had unpacked, were hungry, and didn't want to have pack up again. Unfortunately this meant some our travel snacks were unable to make it to the next day. After dinner we made our way to the hot tub. Disappointment. I get that work was being done to the pool, but the hot tub jets didn't really work and there were paint chips and other stuff in the hot tub. Breakfast the next morning was served in a converted conference room and was good.
What a beautiful day at the coast, April can go either way, but this April couldn't have been better. I walked on the beach near by and watched happy people with children and pets for a couple hours. Not far from where we stayed we could watch and be very close to sea lions enjoying and fighting for sun. Had good food and a nice place to rest my head. What more could you ask for. LOVED IT!
Everything was fine and good enough... My stay was a week long and the Breakfast offered was good. The bed and sheets was comfortable. The Internet was easy to use and had a good speed that worked at all times. if I would of had time i would have used the gym and pool. i wish i would of had time to use.
Staff was very friendly and helped me understand BW rewards program. Breakfast was good though conference room size not accommodating to large number of guests. Great location in Northern California. Close to shore for beach combing and for drive both the Klamath Falls and Trees of Mystery. Would definitely stay here again.
My daughter and I stayed in the new addition of this hotel recently and I must say it was BEAUTIFUL!! The view over the harbor was amazing. We were very privileged- the weather was in the 60's and sunny the whole 10 days we stayed!! The beds were very comfortable with soft sheets and plentiful pillows!! Our only issue was a coffee pot which was quickly replaced by housekeeping staff!! Everyone was SUPER nice!!!
Northwood's Inn is one of our favorite motels. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. We like to stay in the western building as we enjoy the harbor view. The adjoining restaurants are excellent. The Good Harvest is on the north side and we have enjoyed meals there while the Northwood's restaurant is being remodeled. Before the remodel started, we enjoyed meals at that restaurant.
We stayed one night over Easter en route from Portland to San Francisco. Good location, pleasant staff, room basic but clean, more or less what you would expect. As always comfortable bed, lots of hot water, efficiency without frills. Swimming pool was not looking quite as clear as I would have liked when I wanted to use it, but good laundry facilities very useful. Breakfast was a nightmare. In a tiny room suitable for maybe 20 people tops, but held about 50, the queue was long and in everyone's way, food kept running out, tea was made with lukewarm water, and while choice was adequate, the conditions were like some elementary school canteen, really not acceptable. The girls did their best but were busy microwaving bacon (!) and trying to keep up so no time to clean tables. Come on Best Western, get your act together!
We chose this place because of the TA rating . It lived up to advance billing . Nice exterior . Good parking near our room . Nicely decorated room . Good WIFI . Comfortable bed . Good shower . Breakfast wasn't much . Very crowded and very limited fare . Price was OK .
Obviously not a Best Western but another hotel getting a facelift. Plenty of rooms with handicapped rooms set aside-have not seen this seen before but a nice touch. Breakfast is small and cramped but the staff was very friendly and hard-working.
The walls are thin and this motel is right on the main highway, so it's not particularly quiet. Otherwise it is just fine. My room was clean and perfectly adequate. Check-in staff was friendly and helpful. My suggestion is to try to get a room as far from the highway as possible--that should help a lot.
Our family of 4 stayed here while traveling to the Oregon Caves and Redwoods. It is one of the more decent places to stay in area. Front desk was friendly, but wait to check in was LONG due to line and only 1 person working desk. The breakfast was served in a very small conference room and it was crowded. They should expand the space by taking part of the parking lot as there was more than enough parking even with it being full due to spring break. The hot breakfast had eggs and make your own waffles. The hotel room was nice and comfy. The pool and hot tub area is dated, but kids still liked it. We liked soaking in the hot tub after a long day of traveling.
The only reason I would give it 4 stars is that the room we stayed in was very clean! It was large and it appeared they had done some renovations at least to that room as the bathroom and carpet appeared newer. There was also a very subtle smell of new paint. Not sure the status of the rest of the rooms. The breakfast was typical continental breakfast but in a cramped little room.
The room was exactly what we were looking for. We just needed a place to stay for the night on our way to San Francisco. The room was ground floor next to the office area, it was quiet. The breakfast in the morning was perfect too, we didn't need anything elaborate. It had hot and cold food.
I came in a day early and they accommodated, Thanks! Room was really nice, breakfast was great except for the space to eat was limited, the room keys did not work twice and we had to wait 10 minutes for them to be re-magnetized. Next time front desk attendant could mention to wait to use new card!!
Good choice for a place to stay, absolutely no view in my room (very disappointing) all I get to look at is the outdoor stairway wall... And being next to the steps, we can hear every footstep of every person on the stairs. And if the curtain is open, every person that climbs the steps looks right in. Room is clean with updated fixtures. Wifi is good and so is the cable tv.
As a Best Western customer we try to use them as often as feasible. this hotel was up to our standards and everything offered was excellent. the room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was nutritious and tasty, the staff were unobtrusive, but very helpful.
Excellent experience for my 2 kids and myself! If you plan on seeing the Redwood National Forest I suggest staying here. Excellent location, Excellent Staff and breakfast choices were tasty! Thank you Best Western Northwoods Inn!
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Northwoods Inn in Crescent City, CA February 20, 2016. It was a Saturday so that has something to do with why it was SOOOO crowded. But, overall it was not a very pleasant stay. It was extremely noisy and roudy. Tons of people and children running around all hours slamming doors, drinking outside their rooms and etc. The room itself was just okay. Mostly what frustrated me was I really wanted to use the fitness room. But, it was constantly overrun by children running in and out of it from the pool which is right next to it. playing and climbing all over the equipment. so I gave up on that. I realize the behavior of the children is the responsibility of the parents. But,I would suggest this Motel make a policy about restricting the fitness room to 18 and over as I saw was the case in many other places I stayed during my two week trip. Overall the noise and type of clientele didn't make me feel very comfortable. It being the off season I suppose it was hard to find a place to eat other than fast food as everything closes early and many of the places nearby were a bit low end. There isn't a lot to choose from in Crescent City but If I were to go again I'd spend a little more and try to find something a bit better. I will say the staff at the front desk were very nice.
We have chosen to stay here on more than one occasion to bring the kids to the ocean for a short vacation. It is very good and they work with my needs for a downstairs near parking area for wheelchair access. Awesome
We had a wonderful time. Clean room, great breakfast and close to many wonderful things to see and experience. We had a great experience checking in. Sam and Becky Lynn were pleasant and very helpful. We will definitely be back.
From check in to check out, our time here was a very pleasant one. We would recommend this establishment to anyone. The person who checked us in made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in, and our room was very nice and had lots of amenities. Very clean and comfortable.
Checked in tired and sore from the road.Manager suggested a soak in the spa ..GREAT IDEA. put on swimsuit and headed over.Cold outside but pool and spa were indoors, warm , clean as a whistle and worked perfectly .30 min. later aches and pains relieved we hit the bed. It was great too.Not as nice as a Hilton but very comfortable and we got a great nights sleep.Next morning we made reservations for our trip back. I thought it was a tad pricey for Feb. but its a nice place for sure i
Had an amazing staying in the King suite with a jacuzzi! Terrific service and accommodation, with an extended check out time!! On top of that free breakfast, and the price of our room was a killer deal! I highly recommend staying here for any special occasion or event!
The hotel was great for a business trip, but I would find a hotel that offers bigger rooms and a better breakfast if you are going to stay here with your family. The bed was not comfortable for me due to having too much spring and the pillows are awful!
The Best Western Northwoods Inn is conveniently located just south of central Crescent City. It's an easy drive from the property north to the city to see the lighthouse, or south to see attractions (such as Trees of Mystery). Rooms with a view of the ocean have more highway noise, though it's not a problem during night time sleeping hours.
The room is very nice, ground floor easily accessible. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The pool looked nice - the hot tub was closed. Breakfast was the usual. The location is good to begin a nice walk.
Very well received at check in! Stay was very relaxing! Enjoyed the breakfast - we had been told it was continental breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by a nice breakfast of eggs and bacon and waffles and the staff was very pleasant!
This hotel seemed like it would be good but it is just a motel with super thin walls. The whirlpool was broke, the sauna didn't get warm and the pool was too cold and there were no towels left for us. On the good side, the staff was nice and the breakfast was good but served in a horrible little room. I would rate this just average.
The room was clean and it smelled good. The lighting was good and there was a tall counter in the main room to put things on. There were TWO luggage racks and plenty of towels. There was a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and flat screen TV in the room. The shower worked well and there were nice towels. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. WiFi worked really well. The only negatives were that there was only one plug by the sink. We needed two - one for electric toothbrush and one for a night light; and the floor seemed thin as we could hear people walking in the room above.
We stayed in the hotel one night during a pacific northwest vacation. We found the service here excellent. Hotel manager greeted us and even took the time to give us a map and directions to the redwood groves. Thank you! They also gave us the room we requested in advance. The beds were comfy, and the decor was recently renovated, which was nice. The price was very reasonable. Also, the beach is right across the highway :-)
Funny place. Whoever built it was clearly into cutting corners, which we found unusual for a Best Western, but then it is Crescent City. We reserved online and put in our request for a quiet room and arrived to be placed directly over the office right on the highway. Not a good beginning. When reminded the desk clerk of our request and he offered “an accommodation” of a suite (two queen beds), to which we said ‘ok'. Well, unfortunately the room was not far enough from the garbage cans and the stench approaching the door nearly sent us back to the desk, but we forebore . The room was tucked under the stairs, which was also a non-starter but we continued with our efforts. The room was clean and pleasant and we slept well. The price was certainly right; we used our AAA card discount and the bill came in under a hundred bucks. They did serve an exemplary continental breakfast complete with scrambled eggs and bacon. We'll try this place again now that we have a sense of the layout in our minds; just get a room far away from the road – and the garbage cans. An added plus is that the restaurant next door was quite nice.
They have done extensive remodeling including a new elevator tower to access the upper two floors of rooms. Everything was clean and fresh. They include a breakfast buffet at least with some reservations. Price was OK. Get a room on the backside of the hotel and it is very quiet.
Comfortable room, great rates, right on the ocean and Samuel did a great job getting us settled in. Looking forward to a nice seafood diner, cocktails and an early nights rest. Thanks all!.......... .... ..
The staff were wonderful and the food was enjoyable. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable. I was a little confused about the prices of the room, but the staff helped me sort it out. I would recommend a stay in this hotel.
Clean, decent amenities, very polite and accommodating staff. Breakfast was the standard continental fair, but a nice nonetheless. The sheets are soft, the rooms have plenty of space. The hotel restaurant is closed for renovations, but there are other decent places within walking distance.
An overnight stay on our way through to OR. Check in was easy and efficient, and we had a room at the back of the hotel away from the road and the driving rain off the ocean. The Northwoods restaurant is being rebuilt - not mentioned on their website - but there is a restaurant right next door that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so eating was not a problem. The breakfast is presently being served in the Conference Room and is very average to say the least. Staying here again while Northwoods is under construction I would go next door for breakfast. However, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly.
The room was clean, quiet and awesome! Also very helpful and friendly staff starting with Joshua at the front desk and to the housekeepers that were always welcoming us. Perfect location, close to the beach and Redwoods, lots of restaurants around. Definitely coming back to this hotel if in the area.
After finding Quality Inn having no Quality I canceled my reservation and check in at the Best Western were I met Melissa and her team. They gave me an alternative and a friendly smile. I slept early and Rose up on time first my meetings great stay and place for weary bones.
Best Western is one hotel I know I can depend on, and the Northwoods Inn, Crescent City, CA did not disappoint. From the cheerful greeting at check-in to the equally pleasant check-out, the entire stay was smooth and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to any traveler to this region.
I've stayed at this hotel probably three times now. I've enjoyed every day from the time before they started construction, during the construction, to the time now work is almost finished and now the restaurant is what's under construction. I was in distress and needed a place to stay these people here at the Best Western helped me you like no others would I give them 5 stars for their customer service for their ability to accept and work outside the box.
Easy access from 101, very nice restaurant next door, rooms quiet, even though close to the highway. Breakfast facilities decent. Friendly staff at desk both checking in and departing and good advise on where to eat.
The title may lead you to think bad of the rooms. The rooms were great, but the other guests were just the opposite. On the night of January 1st, many drunk people gathered in a giant flock in the center by the fountain. Then, they decided it was the right time to blast music with giant speakers. The walls were literally shaking. The hotel did nothing to stop them and they partied long into the night. The next morning, we awake to noises outside our room. We look out the window and see the cops pulled up to another building with a woman who looks shaken. Our best guess is domestic violence. This was based off the people and how the staff handled these incidents, not the rooms.
Not bad. An older property which has been nicely renovated. Like all Best Westerns, it has everything you need in the hotel room, which was scrupulously clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. It has a small pool and jacuzzi, and is conveniently located on the highway, a five minute drive from everything in Crescent City. My one complaint: The breakfast room was uncomfortable, with conference style tables crowded into a small space. And the breakfast was not as extensive as we experienced at other Best Western Plus hotels.
Our motel room was quite clean. They even have "clean TV remotes," which are possible to clean with antibiotic cleaner - never seen that before. The motel is right across the street from the harbor. We saw the sea lions over there. And ate dinner next door at Good Harvest. That was yummy. The breakfast quarters were too tight and only our kids ate because once again it was hard to find low added sugar and whole grain choices. The location is great although that Highway is not pedestrian or bike friendly and in the dark of December we didn't walk beyond dinner next door. Also this is an older motel so don't expect a cone of silence in your room. We listened to the noises of a working waterfront plus a running water tank. But we definitely recommend the motel.
This hotel was extremely comfortable, clean, up dated, quiet and the hotel desk clerk was very knowledgeable, quick, happy to help us, her recommendation for a restaurant was Perfect. Highly recommend this hotel in Kelso Wa
Nice shower and room. Restaurant was closed. Indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Shower is huge and nice. Kitchen is stocked as needed. Room has a separate bedroom and2 more beds in living room. Employees did not know much about area attractions as might be expected. Don't recommend fish restaurant across the street.
Nothing special, but a nice room and staff near the Redwoods. The room was comfortable and it was convenient to park our car right outside the door. Did not enjoy the meal at the restaurant next door.
I was here for work. The room I had was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was nice having an indoor pool and hot tub to visit after a busy day at work. I look forward to my next stay. It is right across the street from the harbor, where there is a lovely gift shop and art gallery. There are also sea lions lounging about by the docks within easy viewing distance.

Thank you so very much for the kind review, we are super happy you enjoyed yourself while our guest and we look forward to seeing you again! Sincerely, Patricia Coburn General Manager
Easy check in, easy check out. Clean, comfortable, had all we needed. Plenty of hot water for 2 adults, 2 kids. Was late for breakfast, but still able to get something to go. Helpful friendly staff. Oh, the kids enjoyed the inside pool!
Within walking distance of Citizen's Dock, great restaurant options (vegan, organic options right next door!), and the Battery Point lighthouse, we had a beautiful long weekend here. Rooms are basic but clean, the breakfast is fresh and options are adequate to get you out and about first thing in the morning, and the sea lions will bark you awake everyday! The staff is committed to making sure your stay is comfortable and pleasant.
After specifically asking for a quiet room, for which I paid $100 in advance, we were given a very small, 1st floor room with a queen. Not terrible - clean, updated, all the basics. Then the thunder from above started and didn't stop until 1:00 am after I finally called the front desk. Lack of sleep, tossing on a very firm bed to wake up to NOT a hot breakfast, as advertised, but coffee, juice, small yogurt cups, waffles and HB eggs. All in all, a real downgrade which left us wishing we had booked a room at the Lighthouse Inn next door. Boo, Crescent City. I wanted to love you.
one can not beat the quality and consistency of the Best Westerns across the county - for the last 21 days - we stayed every night but 2 in best westerns - comfy beds and hot breakfast - wifi and lots of pillows!
Nice clean facility with comfortable beds. Staff was very accommodating and the adjacent restaurant was a pleasant suggestion by the motel staff. Wish we had more time to explore the area, especially since the motel is right across the street from the Crescent City marina. Continental breakfast was a little sparse. Probably would go out for breakfast next time. WE would stay here again if w come back in the future.
We only spent one night here on our way down south. We checked in early and had no problem getting the type of room we wanted. The front desk staff were pleasant and friendly and gave us some ideas for dinner and directions into town. The room was clean and spacious. Everything worked well and everything we needed was there for us. We had dinner in the restaurant on the property and it was good. They even had a salad bar. Breakfast was so-so. Usually Best Western's have a really good coffee selection and different flavors for creamers. Here it was just cream and milk. This motel is across the street from the local marina and it was fun to walk around the place and see all the boats and fisherman. There were a ton seals hanging out too. I would definitely recommend this place for a one or two night stay.
We only stayed one night while on a road trip, but the room was such an amazing surprise. We didn't expect that our room would have a couch, easy chairs, and a desk in addition to a King Size beds. In addition, there were drink glasses made out of glass, not plastic. Finally the ice dispenser was only about 30 ft from out room and we didn't have to go outside. Those may not seem like a very big deal to some, but they are oh-so welcome after a long day on the road. You can stay here with confidence
This was the second time that I stayed at this hotel. I have found the staff helpful and nice. The rooms are clean and updated and the location is great. I am writing this review mainly because there used to be a very nice restaurant which provided a complimentary breakfast. For the forseeable future it is closed for renovations. Instead there was a wholly inadequate 'complimentary' breakfast which consisted of very little to begin with. What was there was not good. I hope they address this problem. Otherwise a very good hotel.
This Best Western Plus property is well maintained, with large rooms that have quality amenities for a 2 star property. Good sized work desk and internet allow for preparing for one's business meeting. The morning breakfast is typical, and sufficient to get one going for the day. The staff members are attentive and professional.
We were on a a trip where we had stayed in several Best Western Pluses across the western states, and were always pleased with the rooms and amenities. This hotel started as no exception; it was clean and modern, the beds comfy. Everything was fine until the next morning when we went for breakfast. As with all Best Western Plus motels, a hot breakfast is included. This is one of the reasons we always pick this hotel; we get a good, quick breakfast included. However, this particular Best Western neglected to tell us their regular restaurant was closed for renovations. When we went for breakfast, it was in a VERY tiny, very cramped room, with just a couple long tables COMPLETELY full. there was NO WHERE to sit. The line-up for food was out the door, and the only food was make-your own waffles or toast, and muffins. No eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, ham, or ANY of the hot items listed in their booklet. The coffee even ran out! If you are renovating, TELL your guests!!! TELL them it is not a hot breakfast but a continental breakfast because you are renovating. Anything else is nothing but a lie.
No complaints. Very nice rooms on 3rd floor. Room was clean and comfortable. Either the room was new or very recently remodeled. Close to ocean, harbor and food. Is close to everything Redwood's allowing for more forest time and less travel time.
Excellent Front desk service, the gentleman checking me in was helpful and friendly. The room was quite nice, the queen size bed was firm. Breakfast was okay, they could put out more healthy options. Location was great.
Have stayed at the Northwoods Inn several times and have always had a pleasant stay. The rooms are very well done and quiet. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any questions. Will stay again.
After reading other reviews, thought we wouldn't be happy. Surprisingly, we are! Clean hotel, renovated room, first floor. Great hospitality! We used the laundry room, very clean, newer machines. Stay here, on main street. We're not spending a lot on room, it's enough to be comfortable. We're on vacation, adventuring outside the room. Take my advice, stay here, save $ so you spend it elsewhere on adventures!
I have stayed here twice in the last 3 or 4 years and would do so again. This place has a nice pool, hot tub, exercise room and a sauna. There is an on site restaurant that usually host the morning breakfast but for some reason they were not going to be open the next morning so there was a continental breakfast which was not good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The one drawback was somebody leaving the lounge of the restaurant late at night had a bit to much booze and was fighting/yelling at someone and it was the end of the hotel where our room was. I would request a room in the other building or at the end of the building away from the restaurant.
Average motel, average room, average bed and linens, lousy offerings for breakfast, overpriced...Convenient to Redwood National and State Parks, the marina across the street is a nice walk to see the sea lions hanging out on the rocks, a few decent restaurants close by and stores to stock up on anything you might need. I thought we could have done better someplace else...
We enjoyed a very clean and comfortable accommodation that was a terrific value especially when compared to the 10 other hotels we stayed in during our trip! While the amenities were very good, the fitness center could use an updating.
We were a little disappointed because we were expecting a warm breakfast but they were doing construction on the restaurant connected to the hotel. If you expect a warm breakfast you may not get one. I would call ahead of time to find out when they are done with construction. The indoor pool is awesome. There is also a spa! Over all it was a very good stay. Beautiful location. So many things to do!
we had to travel to crescent city from southern oregon for a medical procedure and overnight stay. we selected the best western hotel, because of their consistent quality. this property and room was clean, the coffee in the lobby was fresh and very good. however, when we return to crescent city for future follow-ups, we'll be checking into other lodging. here is why: in our online reservation i requested a first floor or ADA room if possible. so when we checked in around 2pm, melissa gave us a choice of a first floor room or a 2nd floor room in the building with no elevator. of course, we selected the first floor room. soon after we unpacked in room 219, we heard thumping and such a ruckus next door that we went to investigate. it was the hotel laundry room. omg. after about 30 minutes, we tried to use the phone in the room to ask when the washing/drying would stop. there was no dialtone on the room phone. hubby called the office on his cell phone and first told the front desk person that the phone was inoperative, she said ok. next he told of the washer or dryer which was seriously off-balance, causing loud thumping on the shared wall and our floor and room to vibrate. she said the washing would stop somewhere between 4 and 6. even though the hotel is set back a distance from highway 101, the traffic noise is really loud. i checked the windows to make sure they weren't open, unfortunately, they were not. they were simply single pane windows. as we watched television for a couple hours prior to retiring, there were frequent 'interruptions in service' from the cable provider...which was just a nuisance and a pain in the butt. when we checked out i suggested to melissa that they not give room 219 to anyone checking in early while washing or drying was in progress. in a very arrogant tone, she reminded me that she had given us a choice! not remembering that we had requested a first floor or ADA room, and apparently, they had not planned ahead for our arrival. and i also reminded her of the room's phone being inoperable.
The room was great..it had been newly renovated. Tried to go to the exercise room but my key didn't open the door. It was 7:05am and it was supposed to open at 7:00. An employee happen to walk by and let me in. The TV didn't work and the treadmill plug didn't fit the outlet so it was useless. There was no cord on the elliptical so I had to ride the bike. There were no cleansing wipes in the workout area either...they had completely dried out. No towels either. Breakfast consisted of donuts or cereal. For $148 a night including tax, my reservation confirmation said "full breakfast". The breakfast room wreaked of smoke. The storage room adjacent to the breakfast room had the door open and you could see boxes of food on the floor. Handy for mice and rodents but not so appetizing for customers. It would take a miracle to get me back to this hotel.
We went to this location for just one night and I felt fortunate because I called them just a couple of hours prior to arriving. Description of amenities included a "full American breakfast." There was this teeny little area that they usually call the business center with two tables and chairs and a few other chairs that you could sit on but there was no place to put your food. Food included cereal, coffee and cold muffins/croissants. Nothing hot except the beverages. No toaster. It just wasn't what I would call breakfast.
Very nice place to stay, good breakfast buffet, friendly employees. The room was updated well with nice furnishings as well as coffee pot, microwave, mini fridge, and blow dryer. nice hot water during a needed long hot shower after driving for over 8 hours, nice indoor pool and we were able to hear the sea lions talking in the evening while outside enjoying the sound of the ocean, but were not bothered while inside the room
Excellent location, loved the view! Our room is newly constructed and it was wonderful! Huge room, comfortable furniture, great bed! Actually nicer than some condos we've stayed in. Can't say much for the breakfast other than cold eggs, cold sausage so we only went there once.
We asked for and received a quiet, 1st floor room with parking nearby. Breakfast was one of the best we've had - in the restaurant with a buffet including scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, potatoes as well as a variety of cold muffins, bagels and breads.
I like staying in this hotel because it's clean, with free breakfast and the staff are always polite and friendly. The wifi is really fast with connectivity issues sometimes but generally great. The hotel lay out is good and the fitness centerer is just okay if you want to shed off some calories.
Very nice and clean room. Good staff that cares. They offer a warm breakfast the is included with the room. and it's ok not great but it's a nice touch. Eggs and potatoes were watery. Fruit was good and nice selection. Service was great.
Stayed at this Best Western on our return trip from San Francisco so we could see this northern section of the Redwoods. The hotel is right across from the marina, right on the 101. We could hear the sea lions! The free breakfast was served at a restaurant right across the parking lot and it was the best breakfast we've ever had at a Best Western! Served buffet style, lots of fresh fruit and hot choices. We will definitely be back!
we stayed 2 nights, the indoor pool was really nice for the kids and it was clean & safe. The free buffet at the restaurant was HORRIBALE! went there the first morning and only had oatmeal and did not go back. we went next door to the Harvest restaurant and WOW! You gotta go! Yes, I would stay at the hotel again, but the ocean is across the street if you want a view its not there.
Wow! I reviewed this place in 2012 and was not impressed at all. I gave it another try and am simply amazed at the turn-around. This property seems to have been completely renovated/remodeled and it is delightful! I stayed in a King room on 3rd floor facing away from the highway. I heard nothing in the way of traffic noise. My room was so clean and new that the fridge still smelled new. Even the guest services binder is so new that the plastic smells new. I felt like I was the first guest to stay in this room. The tv is a nice flat screen tv with LOTS of channels. The bed is the best ever. The bathroom is elegant with a glassed in travertine stone shower. It is big enough for at least 2 people and had a bench for sitting. All surfaces, including window sills, are made of granite or something like it. The room was spotless. Just a quick trip on the elevator (yes, it has one) and a few yards across the parking lot and you are in the restaurant next door (Northwoods). No need to even take your car anywhere else. A breakfast coupon for the restaurant next door was given to me upon check-in, but I didn't use it so cannot say whether it was good. All in all, after this visit, I don't believe I'll stay anywhere else in Crescent City--this one is it for me!
After a long 7-hour drive, we made it to the Best Western Northwoods hotel in Crescent City. We were quickly checked in and we found the staff courteous and efficient. Our room was clean and inviting. We could not close the safe as the key that was with the safe wasn't the key that belonged to the safe. We alerted the housekeeper who reported it. Within 5 minutes a maintenance man showed up and he had trouble with it as well. He gave us a master ke and all was well. We turned the key into the lobby staff when we checked out. We were given a coupon for breakfast the next morning at the Northwoods restaurant located adjacent to the lobby (across the parking lot). Don't waste your time, the food was horrible and the coffee was lukewarm at its best. Just because the food was "free" it was anything but complimentary. The offerings were limited. The scrambled eggs I am sure were powdered and uneatable. If you're diabetic, there's nothing for you to eat there as it was all high carbed stuff. It was no way near the quality of the Best Western Anaheim Inn that we stayed at 3 weeks ago. Our expectations were way too high at Northwoods. Needless to say, we did not eat there the next morning.
We stayed two nights. Good location and room. Bad breakfast and service in the breakfast area. You have to ask for products. We had a problem with tha safe. The staff didn't try to solve this problem.
My husband, my two brothers, their wives and I stayed one night here on our way into Oregon. I haven't stayed in a Best Western in years because they seemed old and run down. However I had been looking at the BW Plus and liked what I was reading in reviews. We were in a brand new section and were very impressed. The bathroom was beautiful with a huge walk in shower. The room was spacious and was as nice as any of the Marriott or Hilton brand hotels we have used in our travels. If they continue with improving their brand with their Plus hotels, we will be adding them to our preferred hotels. The location and view of the harbor right across the street was a bonus. The front staff was awesome and very accommodating when my brother asked for extra pillows due to a health situation.
If you are in the area to see the Redwoods this is a great location. Trees to the north and trees to the south. The room was clean and the bed very comfy. The free breakfast is not to be missed. It's not the typical kind but at a restaurant on the same property. More a buffet.
We were headed to Bandon Oregon from the Central Valley and miscalculated the driving time. When we arrived in Crescent City it was already late and we decided to stop and stay there for the night. We found good reviews in Tripadvisor about the Best Western Plus and went in to see if they had a room available. Josh at the front desk was awesome! He called Bandon Inn for us and explained our situation. They cancelled our room free of charge. Then Josh set us up in a beautiful room on the 3rd floor facing the harbor. It was a brand new room, spacious and comfortable. We had a delicious breakfast (included in the hotel stay) at the Northwoods Restaurant. Thank you Josh for all of your help ... And good job Best Western Plus!
I stayed in a harbor-view room on the new 3rd floor of the main hotel building. it was a large room with king bed, work desk, two easy chairs with a drum table in between, and a 3rd easy chair with an ottoman hassock. fridge. microwave. coffee-maker. iron and board. wide-screen tv. fast wifi. big bathroom. everything spotlessly clean. very comfy bed. nice and quiet room.
Good size, clean and comfortable room. Very helpful staff. Nice restaurant right across the parking lot that is also where breakfast is served. The facility is at the south end of Crescent City right across from the small boat harbor and when the traffic dies down at night you can hear the seals faintly barking in the background. Arrive early and enjoy a walk in the waterfront park across the street.
Room was extremely comfortable, with good shower and amenities. Bed was excellent. Location handy to highway 101. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. Good spa tub and pool, not busy at all. A good laundry facility for guests.
