    « Would stay again! »

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful as we called in at last minute trying to book five rooms as we had to leave another. The rooms were clean the beds were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was good with a variety of choices both hot and cold. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Business in Burnaby »

I typically stay closer to the Metropolis mall in Burnaby but most everything was booked when I selected this hotel. It is somewhat out of the way if you need to be closer to shopping and restaurants. My room was comfortable, quiet and appeared to have been updated. The continental breakfast was nice enough with eggs, sausage, potatoes, a waffle machine, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, juices, coffee, etc. Breakfast opened at 6:30. The price was less than where I usually stay and I hadn't stayed here before because of the location but it turned out to be quieter and nicer so I might stay here again.

« Stay in Greater Vancouver »

Had to spend a few days in the Greater Vancouver area. This was near the highway and places in Burnaby and New Westminster so was convenient. Easy to get too. Breakfast was excellent and staff was friendly. Good place.

« Nothing bad, just nothing great »

I spent weeks reading reviews about this hotel and debating a 2 night stay in it. I am partial to hotels that have fridge/mivrowaves, a continental breakfast, and do not have those multicoloured unwashed blankets on the bed. The Chelsea Inn fit the bill. This is definitely an older hotel. The bathroom had been renovated but the room was worn. That said, it was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, and the blankets were covered with washable sheets - yay! The breakfast was standard for a Best Western and definitely did it's job. The parking lot is small, and the hotel is right on a busy road, so there was a little road noise in the room, but an excellent location to get to the transcanada. Overall, this was a fine hotel for 2 nights, I would not want to stay longer.

    « my report »

I find the staff very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The rooms are average they have done some updates. The beds atleast the ones I have been in are comfortable just wish they would put bigger sheets on bed, found the corners always coming off which makes you lay on the protector. The location is very handy being close to the hwy shopping and restaurants. I will return on my next trip.

« In town for seniors games »

Where to start. Arrived at day one at 2:30 pm. Found lobby stuffed with other guests all waiting for rooms to be cleaned. Trying to check in, my room also not ready. Was advised they would store my luggage and to return in a while. Returned to find staff change and they told me my room was given away due to not claiming. Hackles are up. Took some convincing to get another room but again this room not yet cleaned this is now 5:30 in the evening. Upon entering room noticed threads showing on carpet and toilet was bubbling and gurgling. Had a bad night, the mattress had separated and kept falling into this crevasse, toilet bubbled all night. Not much for sleep ,upon using the toilet in the morning it was plugged. Yikes, much chatting to front desk , finally front desk came and checked out the issues, yup as described requested new room but nothing available. Left for the day with big question mark. Arrived day 2 everything as it should be. Yippy. Housekeeping missed restocking the coffee, small price to pay for a better nights sleep. Breakfasts were good. Staff was courteous . After 4 days stay. Would I recommend this hotel...... Yes

« Best Staff in Vancouver »

All the staff here are frankly amazing. They turned what could have been a disaster of a vacation into one filled with good memories. Having had our vehicle damaged at another hotel on the way here this amazing crew stepped up to the plate time and again and smashed it out of the park. Assistance planning trips on the rails? Check! Secure parking? Check! Special help for a hungry young girl late at night? Check! Understanding of the problems with getting a vehicle repaired on time? Check! Good comfortable rooms, incredible and understanding service by the cleaning staff of the strange hours of a traveling family. On the ball maintenance of their pool, the praises I have for this location are bar none. There are seriously some five star locations out there that could take some real lessons from this place. This. Is how it's done.

    « Pretty good »

We stay here often. We usually arrive late and that is never a problem. The manager is such a great guy and makes us feel welcome. Room is big and clean. And the location is good for us to do what we plan here. Free breakfast isn't the best but hey it's free. Bikers are welcome here.

    « good location »

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Although it doesn't have a lot of curb appeal, the room was large and clean. The location was perfect for my business trip and the morning breakfast was well stocked.

« Good value yet close to downtown »

This hotel was a quick exit off the freeway and close to our intended visit (Burnaby). We had a quiet room away from the street traffic noise. We enjoyed the breakfast (eggs, sausages, yogurt, waffles, pastries, etc.) and the times were convenient. A good value and close to proximity to Vancouver.

    « Terrible First Impression »

We booked a room for 2 nights for my daughter's swim meet. Got an email confirmation. When we arrived at the hotel at around 8pm to check in, the first thing Sean at reception told me was the hotel was all booked. No greeting, not interest in finding out what the situation was. I told him I had a reservation, and all he said was the hotel was all booked. I then showed him my email confirmation. He looked at it, then looked in his computer and said my reseravation was cancelled 2 days after the original booking upon my request. If I wanted, I can talk to the manager the next day. Nothing he could do. Sean had no interest in trying to solve the problem at all. So we were left scrambling trying to find another place to stay. I know Sean probably could not do much to fix that problem, but his attitude was he didn't cancel my reservation, someone else did. And now the hotel is full. Good bye.

    « Excellent customer service »

We were in Vancouver to attend the funeral of our brother and had just experienced an extremely disappointing house rental. The funeral was the next day and we were panicking because we had twelve family members who needed to be together in one place. We were told that the Best Western Chelsea could accomodate all of us. The compassion and customer service that we received from Lyndsay and Shawn upon check-in and the duration of our stay was exemplary. They allowed us the use of the breakfast room in order to have an informal wake. Shawn personally came over and helped us to print off our boarding passes from the hotel's business service centre. Our room was large and extremely clean. We loved that we could all go down and enjoy the delicious continental breakfast, which included waffles, sausages, eggs, bagels and much more. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends, and we would stay here again the next time we come to Vancouver.

« Meh... You can find better. »

I'll just start with saying that the hotel is not great... it's not bad, just not great. It's in a decent area, more residential than not, close access to Hwy 1 and a skytrain station just down the street which is nice. The hotel itself seems to be older, especially the rooms. They are definitely on the small side with older furniture and beds. The carpets gave the impression of being gross as they were stained, but were actually clean. The room did have a bit of a "funky" smell to it, not particularly bad, but weird... not sure if it is a cleaning product that is used or what, but it did become less noticeable as the stay went on. The breakfast wasn't great either, the breads, pastries, waffles, and cereals were fine, but the hot food like the sausage pieces and eggs were greasy and crusty, respectively. (tasted like powdered eggs). Also note that there is not an indoor pool, just a smaller outdoor pool outside of the breakfast room. Also, not a hotel that is really setup to be working out of as the desks in the rooms are very small, but even the business centre in the lobby was very small and cramped. The one positive of the hotel was the customer service, all aspects of it from the manager, to the front desk clerk, to the breakfast room lady, to housekeeping was great. They all had a smile on their faces, always said hello and goodbye, and made you feel welcome, definitely a staff to be very proud of. All in all the hotel is bearable, definitely not my fist choice, but doable if nothing else was available.

    « Never again »

I was not asked if I had a CAA card at check-in. We were given a room with a queen bed and a pullout cot because we were told the cot wouldn't fit with 2 queen beds. The room smelled terrible, as did the sheets on the pullout, so much so that the odor clung to my pajamas. The blankets on the pullout and the cot had several holes in them. We were offered no pillows with the cot, and it di not fit in the room with the couch pulled out. In order to avoid blocking the exit and the bathroom, we had to take the mattress of the cot and sleep on the floor. The vending machine was broken. Computer in the lobby appeared to have a pirated copy of Windows 7 and there was no internet access on it.

« Where to start, disgusting! »

Room smelt so bad, mouldy. Coffee pot had a coffee pad stuffed in the water reservoir. Condom out of the package in the Bible, carpet stained. Pool extremely small. Two things good, shower had good water pressure and waffles good. I wrote to the hotel about the issues and no response. My husband's asthma was so bad in the room he could hardly breathe. I had a sore throat for two days after leaving. No idea how anyone could rate this place 3stars unless they didn't actually stay here.

« Poor housekeeping and terrible experience »

Was heading back to Vancouver island from Alberta. Had a family wedding in Sundre Ab. We stayed at the Best Western there and was wonderful. Our rooms were very clean and the staff was exceptional. As we left late leaving Alberta we thought of staying over night in Vancouver at the Best Western Chelsea Inn in Coquitlam since we had a lovely hotel for the last three days. Well that was a mistake. The room was dirty the beds were not made as if someone was just sleeping in it. The bathroom was dirty. I called the front desk and expressed my concerns and he offered me another room. We went to the room and it smelled better but she I turned down the sheets put my five year old granddaughter to bed, there were hair all through the bed. YUCK. My husband beds was the same. We the. Checked out of that hotel. I was very disappointed with the best western as they have always had higher standards. Hopefully the head office reads these reviews and checks them out.

« Stay on the highway. »

Stay on the highway and find a decent hotel. The carpets are stained and dirty feeling to walk on. The bathtub is worn and disgusting. The room smells bad and the heat,a is very noisy . This hotel is a stain on the Best Western name. It is too late to find another hotel so me and my family will be keeping our flip flops on even in the shower.

« You'll come for the price and leave with the stench »

Booked this hotel when couldn't find availability at our regular activity. At first look seemed okay and has pool and breakfast. Good location near a skytrain station. The downside was the room; very musty smell caused havoc if you have allergies. AC was old and noisy. Poor sound dampening in rooms as we heard every squeaky step our neighbors upstairs made. Ants in the room and someone was kind enough to leave an open condom for us in the bedside bible. The free breakfast did not include seating so you had to wait and stand as large families geedily fed themselves first and ate everything in sight. I guess you have book a Best Western Plus or Premium to get the nice hotels. Upon returning home everything went into the wash in an attempt to get the stench out. Luvin it!

    « Great Hotel »

This was a great hotel for what we needed. The value was very good for what we got...a nice, clean room with two queen beds, a fridge and a microwave. The breakfast was good with lots of options. We would stay here again.

« Excellent service and clean property »

We stayed for 4 nights in June and were very pleased with the room and hotel in general. Manager, Nasir Zubair went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and all staff were polite, courteous and attentive. We actually cut our stay short, got invited to go on a charter fishing trip on the Island, Campbell River, and Nazir was kind enough to waive our late check out fees as we only gave him 1/2 hour notice at 2 in the afternoon. Appreciate the gesture, made our stay there even more pleasurable. Will be looking to revisit this hotel next time in Coquitlam.

    « Poor upkeep and cost-cutting = terrible experience »

The convenience of this location (Coquitlam) is not worth it. The owner/operator is clearly not interested in reinvesting profits into the hotel upkeep or staff. Our toilet flooded and the lone front desk person (no nighttime cleaning or maintenance staff!) used a dirty mop and water to kind of wipe up the flood... no proper cleaning materials or methods, no offer of extra towels or mats or anything, just "wait for it to dry." Carpets were stained and dirty, garbage shoved into heater/air conditioner, beds were ok (thank god, at least we could sleep), front desk person who was at least properly appalled and kind and helpful could do nothing but offer a few dollars off our stay. Essentially we paid $180 to stay in a room that was a dump and didn't have a fully functioning toilet. No manager to be seen at any time. Unbelievable for this chain.

« Awful hotel! Please do not stay here. »

I recently stayed at BW Chelsea Inn in Coquitlam. BW should be embarrassed to have their name on this hotel. The rooms are atrocious! If I were staying in a motel off the highway in some backwoods hole, for $50 a night, I would expect the room I stayed in. I paid more money for this dumpy room than I paid for the gorgeous room the night before in Whistler. The carpets were threadbare; the sheets were ripped and did not fit the bed (I have photos); whomever made up the bed forgot to pick one up OFF THE FLOOR to add to the bed (I have photos); the mattress was very thin; the floor squeaked directly above my bed; I could hear everything happening in the hall; the smell of cigarette smoke spewed out of the fan; and a few of the guests were of questionable repute. I certainly did not feel comfortable or safe there, and I would NOT have chosen to spend my hard-earned money on this place had I known how awful it was. I deserve better, and so does Best Western. That's my last BW stay.

« Best Western Chelsea Inn »

I recently stayed at this property for 3 consecutive nights. The overall experience was excellent. I would strongly recommend this property as it offered me tremendous overall value. If I had occasion to be in the Coquitlam area again I would certainly stay there again. The front desk staff were very helpful too.

    « convenient »

This hotel is walking distance to skytrain and close to good shopping and restaurants Excellent breakfast room and nice pool very polite staff and clean rooms Staff was helpful and polite, gave directions and showed a caring attitude to us.

« You get what you pay for. »

Hotel was very affordable, and I wasn't looking for serious amenities but the breakfast was disappointing. That aside, I would stay at this hotel again for a couple days for business. Our room sold out before we arrived, we had a single king room and had to take a double queen instead, but it was a seamless process and that wasn't a big deal. We weren't disturbed by noise, staff, or guests during our brief stay; the pool was definitely not a selling point, and breakfast was pretty disappointing. You get what you pay for. Eat out.

    « A good way station »

The staff were friendly and helpful. I was the last to checkin on arrival and got an old room down the end that smelled like ancient cigarette smoke. They brought in a special machine that freshened the air and then the first chance they had, they moved me to a really nice room overlooking the pool area. The breakfast was more than your typical continental, with a fair range of items to choose from and all fresh. The location isn't central really, but it's one of the only hotels in that area and it's super easy to go either west or east on the Lougheed or the TransCanada almost right outside your door. Good value for money.

« OK but not the "Best" hotel »

This hotel provided a comfortable, clean bed for an overnight stay. However, the traffic noise and overall outdated room decor left us with an impression of a hotel that needs an upgrade soon. The breakfast was"OK", the hotel staff were friendly. Location of the hotel was what attracted us as we were visiting with family in the area.

« Decent place but a Crime Area »

This location was used by my son as a reference for his wedding guests in 2010 so I wished to "relive" the days. Unfortunately there is not enough secure parking and I was encouraged to park in a less secure area. The building is a bit dated and worn My vehicle was broken into and about 800 dollars of clothes and a GPS were stolen. The vehicle front was on video monitor but the break in was through a rear window The breakfast and staff were good rooms clean although a bit warm I did not have a chance to use the PLUS facility and the pool is an outdoor one so not open May 10th I would not recommend this location as it is difficult to access and a crime area The hotel manager did reply to my email and lectured me on the laws of responsibility however other than encouraging me to return so they could do better made no offer of discount next time nor shared compensation So my stay there cost 141 hotel 300 deductible and 800 personal loss. Total loss to me of 1100 PLUS the room

    « I love this hotel ! »

I stayed for two weeks starting April 28,2016 at: Best Western Chelsea Inn, 725 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam,B.C. I was very pleased with everything at this hotel. The front desk staff (3guys and 1 gal) especially Shawn was friendly and helpful. It was clean and comfortable, couldn't be any better. The complete breakfast was delicious. Parking, internet and local calls was free. There is even a computer/printer and a coin operated washer/dryer for the customers to use. It also has a big outdoor swimming pool. For sure, I'll stay again at this beautiful hotel whenever I go back to B.C. Piper from Quebec,Canada.

    « Amazing location »

My daughter and I were going to a concert at Rogers arena and needed a place to stay. We couldn't find a hotel in Vancouver so my travel agent looked in Coquitlam. So happy she found the Best Western Chelsea Inn. It was right down the street from IKEA and a 5 minute walk to the Braid skytrain that we took to Metrotown and Rogers arena and back again. So easy and stress free (well it was a little stressful since I've never used it before but everyone was there to help us get where we needed to go). Hotel was quiet, clean and friendly. Will definitely stay there again.

    « Accommodation »

Love that this hotel was so close to Royal Columbian hospital, that the staff at front end, were very polite and breakfast was good had nice hot meals and alot of options to choose from. They kept our family close together on the same floor.

    « Choo Choo !!! »

Booked this hotel online and used it as a base for commuting to and from Canlan Ice Sports Centre. The included breakfast was quite good - we used it both mornings we were there and the doors opened promptly at 6:30 AM. The waffle iron offers a ' homemade ' option, and other food offerings were as expected - no surprises. The pool is situated outside the glass doors of the breakfast > bar > social area (?) The pool itself did not appear to have been cleaned when we were there, so no attempt was made to use it. Inside our room the mattresses were firm to hard and not overly comfortable. Carpeting looked tired and dirty. The bathroom was OK, and contained the best feature of our room - the shower. Whatever make of shower heads they are using, the water felt almost like an inexpensive massage and was a bonus to start the day. Outside our room, the street noise and sounds of trains passing nearby were too loud, especially in the middle of the night. If you stay at this hotel, asking for a room on the rear / non-street side might help, but it sounded like the train was passing directly outside our window, so good luck with that one. Front desk staff tried to be helpful. This is an adequate hotel with good breakfast and at least one outstanding shower. Forget the pool if privacy is at all important.

    « Basic »

The rooms are basic with Clean bedding and comfortable mattresses, decent breakfast included, good internet included, quiet , good location, I would probably stay here again if I was in the area. Fairly good value for the dollars

« Wonderful place to stay »

Great travel and business location. Wonderful place if you are from the Island and plan to use the Horseshoe Bay Ferry. The staff were very down to earth and accommodating. It is also in close proximity to leisure locations (such as the Hard Rock Casino where I went to to see a concert during my stay) so it is an excellent stepping off point if you're planning to see the Coquitlam area.

    « Weekend trip »

Hotel was good value and good location for our visit. Hotel was quiet. We liked that breakfast was included. Easy access to the highway. Room was clean and bed comfortable. We would stay here again when visiting.

« Average rooms, reasonable price »

We stayed here simply for the proximity to a family member's place in Coquitlam. Room was 89 per night. Rooms were clean and beds comfy. We were on the back of the hotel and it was not noisy at all from the freeway traffic. Front desk staff pleasant. Free breakfast in morning was great, lots of variety. It can be tricky finding this hotel entrance and exiting without getting stuck onto the freeway. The pool was not open when we were there. It looked nice, though small, and is adjacent to the breakfast room.

« You get what you pay for »

I normally stay at another local best western but it was booked so I thought I would try here and the cheap price and very few cars in parking lot should have been a hint. I am a diamond BW member and I have stayed at 4 other BW this week and by far this is the most basic. Bed below average, halls seem very institutional, the room is not dirty but very worn out so it looks bad. Overall this hotel is good if you are looking to rest your head after a night out and want a place that you can make a mess and not worry then this is the place. If you are looking for a place that you will feel comfortable in the room and plan on being in your room then I would look elsewhere.

« Great Value in a centralized location »

This was a great location for our trip to the Lower Mainland. We were within minutes of MetroTown, Ikea, restaurants and entertainment. Parking spots were wide and easy to drive in and out. Highway was close by too.

« How desperate are you? »

Stayed here on a whim after driving from Calgary in the rain. We did not have a reservation and booked on arrival. The front desk staff was nice enough to give us a deal on the room but this suite was not even worth the price. Bed sheets did not fit the bed, clearly not meant for that bed but someone tried anyway. The floor was uneven, mirror was not cleaned properly. Because we were exhausted, the front desk clerk said we could check out at 12 instead but as soon as we woke up, we pretty much got out of there. If you're desperate and are not picky, it'll do.

« Stay at Chelsea Inn »

I picked this hotel primarily for its close location to where I was working. I trust Best Western to provide clean rooms with comfortable beds, supported by good service. This hotel met al my needs and expectations.

    « City weeknd »

Overall stay at this property was excellent except for 1 hour on Sunday evening caused by a young noisy sports team over which the hotel has not much control, would definitely recommend it to friends.

« Good Value for the area »

I have stayed at the other local Best Western PLus This Best western was better value. Slightly older appearance and feel but clean, service is good and standard breakfast is included. Note scrambled eggs and sausage each day but planty of other cold food selection

    « My Stay »

The place was clean friendly and safe. The beds were poor needs replacing. they have grooves in them so you feel that you are going to fall out of them. I have to sleep crossway on the bed. The breakfast person was friendly but the food could be a little better but great selections for everyone. I would return with out hesitation but would love to see some improvements.

    « Convenient location. »

Adequate breakfast. Close to SFU where we were attending an event. Helpful staff.Great Greek restaurant close by and close to Ikea for the shoppers. We will be returning for another event in one months time.

« Good rates Pleasant staff!! »

Hotel is good and clean, I had stayed there before and was very happy with the Hotel the last visit, but it had been a few years. the staff there were excellent they all had a smile on there face and were more then willing to help out. The hotel is close to the skytrain so easily get to downtown or shopping and it's also only 2 blocks away from my favorite place to shop Ikea!!

    « Terrible »

The hotel rooms are so small and the room service is terrible first a maid came in and cleaned my room and she kept coughing without her hands and transmitted flu to us and they don't know how to knock someone just came in without knocking very disrespectful

« Pleasant staff, good WiFi, excellent location »

Such a good location - near to the freeway entrance and an easy commute to a number of Lower Mainland destinations. Particularly impressed by the staff in the breakfast room as well as the general layout and breakfast options.

    « Best sleep ever »

I arrived with my teenage daughter and her friend, having promised to take the girls shopping in 'the big city' for graduation gowns. I was coming down with the flu, but this was the only time we all had two days off at the same time. I was NOT looking forward to the trip and then sleeping in a strange bed when I really needed my sleep. It turned out I needn't have worried - the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, even better than my own! The sheets were fresh-smelling and I slept better than I would have done at home with my husband and the dog hogging the space. The hotel is close to the sky train station, so we could zip around the city easily. Even though this is an older less upscale hotel, we will stay here again.

    « Only this hotel »

I was staying in BW Chelsea inn for a business trip for a 2 weeks.Convenience location and quiet place despite placed near a busy street.Easy to get Superstore and Brad station even by walking.Breakfast is simple but very diverse.Personal seems like one big family very friendly and always smiling. How nice to hear in the morning when someone greets you and wish you good day.

    « Never again »

I have held off writing this review hoping the hotel would do what is right and compensate us, but no such luck. On Aug 28 2015, we arrived for our family vacation. We picked the hotel because of its location to public transportation, price, kitchenette and pool. Unfortunately we arrived on the day of the worst storm we had seen in years. When we checked into the hotel, they couldn't even check us in because the power was out.(We understand this happens in a storm) We couldn't even have a key. The front desk staff had to walk us to our room. The emergency lights had stopped working so we had to use our cell phones to see where we were going. Eventually the front desk offered us ONE tea light candle for our room. The next morning when everywhere around them had power restored, the hotel was still without power. This meant we could not make breakfast. The breakfast normally supplied could also not be made. They had cereal but NO MILK. We left for the day expecting power to be back on when we returned and were disappointed. So, we had to be escorted to our room again. By now the staff had placed giant candles in bowls ON THE FLOOR in the halls. We couldn't even shower, ever, because there was no hot water. When it was time to check out we could not because there was STILL no power. The manager promised to call and discuss the bill with us before charging our credit card. This did NOT happen. When my husband started calling, the manager never returned our calls. We have asked multiple times for a copy of the bill either in the mail or by email and have never seen one. They offered us a measly $20 off but that is only the difference between and regular room and the kitchenette room we reserved. I think the worst part is the lack of communication while we were there AND after we left. I understand that there are certain things beyond their control but they did not take care of their guests very well, were not prepared for a power outage and have very poor communication skills. You can hear the noises from all of the other guests and the mattresses are old and uncomfortable. Long story Short: No power for 3 days Poor emergency planning No hot water Poor communication Poor mattresses

« Only satisfactory overnight if you have to be in this area of the city »

The only quiet rooms are the top floor on the back of the hotel. The front faces a busy street and is noisy. The property is older and dated. The area is commercial and not really suitable for walking although the light rail transit is close by. Breakfast is a very simple continental and the usual for this type of place. We wouldn't stay here again as overall it is below our standard.

« Good service, decent overall »

I was attending a series of seminars in Port Moody and this hotel seemed to be reasonably close and a decent price. Front desk staff were very helpful, allowing me late check out and supplying me with directions (I had a GPS but it kept trying to take me really weird ways). Breakfast was standard hotel fare, but the lady in charge of it was very friendly and greeted me each morning. Very nice to have fridge and microwave in room and there was a Superstore a short drive away so I saved lots of money on food by not having to eat in restaurants. It is located on a busy street, and the first time I arrived I was attempting to turn left across two lanes of traffic and must have sat there for 5 minutes before some people finally stopped to let me go across. After that I learned to loop around and come in off the side street. The first day housekeeping took the shampoo and conditioner bottles I had used only once and gave me new ones, which seems wasteful. Would return if I find myself in area again.

« Great Breakfast included, friendly staff, convenient location. »

We had a King room. It was clean and well-appointed, with all the amenities you'd expect. Found the staff very friendly, especially the serving and housekeeping staff, who were great. We were told continental breakfast was included, but when we went down, there was a full breakfast on offer, with good scrambled eggs, sausage, (big bottle of Sriracha chili sauce was a nice touch), about 10 different kinds of breads and pastries, a waffle batter dispenser and do-it-yourself waffle iron which I'm sure the kids and hungover guests love, fruit, juice, tea/coffee etc. It was only supposed to be on until 9:30 but they were very accommodating to guests who continued to arrive after that time, or stay later. They checked to see if there was anything else we wanted from the buffet before they started packing it up. The location, near the confluence of two busy highways, is not something you'd pick for scenery/ambiance of course, but is very convenient - you're on the highway and on your way in no time. Would stay again.

    « Service lacking »

I like to stay at BW Hotels because the beds are comfortable and the rates are reasonable. This last stay won't deter me from future stays, but I was disappointed in a few things this time. The TV was broken and the carpets were dirty. The front desk staff were not very friendly, they actually treated us as an inconvenience. I don't think I saw one smile cross her lips during our whole stay! We were the ones saying have a nice day and thank you.

    « Poor Customer Service »

Screwed up two of my booking in one week, managment was terrible, rude and unacommidating. I recommend not staying at the best wester and try the other one that is approx 1.5 km away. dont stay here, dont stay here, dont stay here, dont stay here,

    « Great value »

Great value for an older establishment. Staff/service...friendly and attentive. Rooms very clean..comfortable. Wide selection of continental breakfast items, including a waffle maker!..pleasant experience. We will be back??

    « Showing it's age »

We booked into the hotel as it was close to the Hard Rock Casino. Overall it served it's purpose. We found the bed not very comfortable - old bed, flat, hard, old style mattress. Found or rather heard water leaking past the toilet flapper valve and when we had a shower in the morning the drain did not keep up to the shower and ended up filling the bath up over the length of the shower. We reported the leaking toilet and clogged drain to the front desk when we checked out. The complementary breakfast was ok other than the hard boiled eggs to go with the sausage. Waffles, toast, muffins, cold cereal, bananas, coffee, tea, milk, juice, yogurt were all available. It filled the gap for the drive home.

« Not sure what was worse, the cleanliness or the incompetence »

Upon arriving from out of town, the check in process was delayed as their system was down. My company books well in advance and makes provisions that include charging any damge and incidentals back to the company. Even though they had it in writing they still wanted to charge me a deposit. The Carpet was stained and a long blonde hair was stuck to the mirror. Finally the scent of marijuana from the loud room down the hall apparently didn't require action. I will never stay here again, and will recommend that my company avoids this place in the future as well.

« value stay in Coquitlam »

Older property, but well maintained. Clean and quiet at the back of the property. No surprises, basic breakfast provided. A good value for a quick stay. It was full when I stayed there, and there was some coming and going late at night with noisy door closing that woke me up. The pool is outside and in a small enclosed area, exercise room is basic.

« The usual Best Western experience »

The entrance is a little tough to find, but once you are in the lot, there is ample room to park even my large pickup. The check in and check out staff were both very helpful and courteous. Breakfast offered, but due to early morning hospital visit we did not try it. The room was clean and well equiped, with excellent beds. Wifi was a little of and on, but when it was working it worked well with a strong signal. Would definitely return.

    « Good value . . . . acutally better than that. »

Having lived in a surrounding area several years ago, and knowing that this property was there in those days, I must admit I was a bit leery about making this booking, however, my fears were immediately eliminated once we checked in. The hotel appeared well maintained and, in my opinion, somewhat better than other BW Inns from the same era. Our room on the third floor was spacious and had all of the expected items, including two luggage racks and the space to put them up without being in the way. While to some this may seem a small thing but I can assure you that having been in other hotels where there is barely room to put one luggage rack up without tripping over it in the middle of the night, this can elevate to a BIG thing in no time at all. The price was reasonable - although I still grumble about paying $20 or more per night for our 6 pound dog to stay in the room with us. There were multiple plugs for charging laptops, phones, etc.. The shower had plenty of pressure and the head provided an excellent spray pattern. The WIFI connection speed was just fine in our room. We did not have the provided breakfast due to a meeting we had to attend. While we could hear train horns on rare occasions in the distance, they were not a significant factor. Would certainly stay here again.

    « Three visits »

We have had 3 visits to the Chelsea in the last 6 weeks following a lot of visits over the past 4 or 5 years. While the basis of the staff hasn't changed it is not the same place as it used to be. Although it has had a face lift in places it is still showing lots of signs of its age. I have written before that the breakfast isn't a patch on what it used to be and it still isn't; that was one thing we could count on previously and probably was the clincher in our return visits. It always had a benefit that it was easy to get to and from when visiting our daughter in Burnaby but now she is working full time we have more time on our hands and it is a little out of the way especially as there are very few eating places within walking distance. I don't doubt that we will use it again but not to the same extent as we have in the past. I will admit that we have had great rates due to our repeat business. However the hotel seems to have a special rate for sports teams so expect lots of young people, especially at the weekends, and be prepared for some noise.

« Worst hotel experience ever. »

Do not stay here if you want a good night sleep. Endured two nights of being woken up from midnight to 4am by several rooms of young males, all of who had a complete disregard for anyone else in the hotel. Had to call the front desk many times, and we were told that they spoke to the noisy occupants, but the night manager was ignored. Overheard that one of the noisy occupants was perhaps related to the owner of the hotel, and had some sort of special arrangement to stay there. This hotel gave special preference to this group at the expense of all the other paying guests. We put up with hours of door slamming, loud talking in the hallways and rooms, and we even had one of them knock on our door, thinking it was their room. Even after being moved to a different room for the second night, we still were woken up many times. It was a very frustrating, and an almost scary experience.

    « Mixed Review »

The General Manager at check in and during our interactions was great. I give this hotel such a low rating as it is outdated and unclean. Our room smelled and our carpets were badly stained. The sheets were clean but the comforter felt dirty. The hotel gets a lot of noise from the roadway and the trains.

    « An excellent choice »

We've stayed at the Best Western Chelsea Inn in Coquitlam before and we're never disappointed. The check-in was terrific with any questions that I might have had being answered. The WiFi (no password needed), where to park (anywhere), hours for breakfast (6:30 to 9:30) etc. The room itself was clean, comfortable (great bed), and inviting. The breakfast was surprisingly good (waffles, scrambled egg, sausage, toast, muffins, fruit, juice, coffee etc). The price was right, the accommodation was excellent, and it was a pleasure to stay here. We look forward to returning (especially since my wife loves IKEA and it's only a few minutes drive away!).

« get what you pay for »

The Chelsea Inn is not a new hotel. It is older with faded carpet and small dark hallways. BUT...if you have any business in Coquitlam, BC...its the perfect place to stay as you can walk almost anywhere in the business area which beats the heck out of driving around that very confusing municipality. It's cheap and cheery and breakfast was great.

« Well wort the affordable price! »

Close to everything we needed, easy to get to, clean and comfortable. Great easy access to freeway which does of course mean it isn't the quietest place but we always travel with a white noise maker anyways. Also one of the best prices I found after much shopping around.

« Nice Hotel, Spacious Room »

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights and enjoyed our spacious and clean room with its comfortable queen size beds. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and polite as well as helpful when the power was cut off for 24 hours due to a storm in the Vancouver area. Breakfast was alright although the variety was small. Because the breakfast room is very little people would sometimes have to wait to get seated. If breakfast could be served until 10 am (instead of 9:30 am) that half hour longer could perhaps solve the problem having people stand on top of each other.
