« Perfect location, very clean, super friendly staff »

I saw this hotel in a previous visit to Asateague so this time I did not look around, I just went straight to it. And I was very happy! It is at the very entrance of the park so I could just walk into it (the beach area is 3 miles away, more biking or driving distance). Room and common areas were very clean and tidy. All staff members I interacted with, from receptionists to breakfast attendant, were super friendly and very welcoming. They also knew Chincoteague well and helped me with precise directions.

« Friendly staff, beautiful, clean accommodations »

We have been staying here for several years and are always pleased .Top notch hotel in every way. Clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Grounds are well maintained. Breakfast has large selection of food that is fresh and delicious.

« They get our rating »

We travel alot and use some flags regularly. This is one of BWs model locations.Clean, great location, friendly staff, good value and all the rest really good stuff. This hotel is the closest to the national park with two adjacent restaurants (ok- one is McKy D's) and a bike rental place. There are lots of independent flags here but, if you go to Chincoteague stay here if you can get in!

    « Quick get-away! »

My hubby and I needed a quick relaxing get-away. We had a very hard winter and I looked on the internet and found the Best Western at Chincoteague Island right next to Assateague. Hubby said yes, let's do this. The entire experience at Best Western was great. From check-in to express check-out we only encountered friendly helpful staff, a clean, well appointed room, a delicious breakfast each morning. No problems, worries or disappointments. Thank you for a relaxing time.

« We love it here! »

The Best Western on Chincoteague is the closest you can stay to the beauty of wild Assateague. I have walked from the hotel onto the island, though we usually drive. This hotel is exceptional! Not only are the rooms clean and the breakfast good, but all I have to do is ask, and the room is prepared to accommodate my asthma and many allergies. The staff is a wonderful, cheerful group of people who try to make any visit a positive experience. It is so good that we go back frequently, and feel that this Best Western is our home base on the island.

« Great stay on Chincoteague Island »

Nice, family-oriented hotel just over the bridge from the Assateague National Seashore. My daughter and I rent bikes across the street and go back and forth over that bridge for days. She loves it! We ride horses, take a boat tour, get henna tattoos, and everything else chincoteague offers from our basecamp at the best western.

« island hospitality: great staff, room, breakfast, everything »

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was positive about it: - Our room on the third floor was large, had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, separate sink outside the toilet/shower bathroom, balcony with two chairs looking out over Maddox Blvd and towards Assateague, Laundry was on the second floor (all machines worked). - The hot breakfast was cooked well and had lots of options (waffles, eggs, sausage/bacon, cereals, breads, yogurt, fruit). They kept it stocked through the entire time period of breakfast, too; i.e., they didn't run out towards the end. - Very helpful and friendly staff. Desmond (evening) found the times for church the next morning for us; Kedrick provided restaurant recommendations, change for laundry, island information. - Our reservation was a great value. We booked during a discounted period and definitely got our money's worth. - Near the bridge to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and next door to the Museum of Chincoteague on the ocean side of the island. This is my third stay on Chincoteague in the last few years, all of them during the off seasons of spring, but my first at the Best Western. Of the three motels that I've stayed at, this one was the best value and the nicest for sitting out with coffee and a book for a little down time after hiking all day. But I have to hand it to the residents and employees on Chincoteague: everyone during all of my visits has been friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

    « Great Stay »

Wonderful stay at best western Chincoteague. Friendly staff, clean room, great bed, quiet, and perfect location. This is the third time we have stayed here. The time before this was a little less than perfect, but we came back and we are glad we did. Everything was just as we had hoped it would be. Great place to stay when visiting Chincoteague!

    5
    « Always great!!! »

This is my third time staying at this best western and it is always great. The rooms are nice, the breakfast is awesome and the staff are always pleasant. This time we had a 5 month old with us and they were very happy to see him every time we went through the door. Love this place will be back!!! Also as far as views of the lighthouse from any hotel on the island you can't beat it!!!

« One of the best hotel stays ever »

Clean, modern, spacious rooms, great breakfast. Ideal location next to the refuge. The staff is unbelievable here. They treat you like family- felt more like staying in a B&B. From making dinner reservations for us, to mailing back my friend's cooler to her when she left it, they exceeded all expectations. I have stayed in innumerable hotels over the year and this was a special stay!

« Business Trip to Chincoteague VA »

I travel to Chincoteauge for business on a quarterly basis, and usually stay at the BW. It is quiet, out of the main drag and easy room access compared to the larger hotels right off the causeway. The staff has always been accommodating and pleasant. The rooms were renovated in the last 2 years and are fresh and clean. Hot breakfast is pretty good, and the rate are usually the lowest of the chains on the Island.

    5
    « Very Comfortable »

We had a great family weekend, in large part due to Best Western. Lots of space in the room including a small table with chairs, large upholstered chair, plenty of drawer space, large refrigerator, comfy beds, and single cup coffee maker. We enjoyed the balcony with views of the island and marsh, and also enjoyed walking to nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions.

« We are excited to go back! »

Cleanliness is incredibly important to me when I travel and this place was very clean. I was able to relax and feel comfortable in the space. The room looked like it had been recently renovated. The pool looked inviting and would have been nice if the weather had been warmer. The location was absolutely ideal, right at the entrance to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. There were many things to do and places to eat near us. The hot breakfast was decent, though not homemade. There were lots of options for everyone in my family and we all started the day with full bellies. The space was a bit crowded, so the second morning we decided to bring food back to the room and eat on the balcony. Overall, we are excited to go back!

« Only marked down for noise »

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was clean, the staff members were all exceedingly kind and friendly, and the room appeared to be recently updated. The location was great for our purposes. I would recommend a request for a top floor room, as we heard a lot of footsteps. I'm pretty sure the person above us walked around until at least 2am, then was up doing it again at 5:30am or so. Be advised that the hallways are outside, if that matters to you. I didn't think they were based upon the pictures, but this was fine. I felt safe there. Breakfast was nice.

    5
    « Quick Business Trip »

This was my first time on Chincoteague and was only there for one night due to business in the area. I was looking for a clean, comfortable and affordable location. This Best Western did not disappoint. I'm sure the prices will increase during the summer, but for April, this was very good price. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Chincoteague Visit »

The hotel is in a vacation location near water. The hotel has an excellent location at the entrance to a national park. Food is near. The people were very nice. The breakfast was good but not great. The biscuits were very hard but the rest of the food was good. The rooms are large with plenty room to sit and rest. The bed was comfortable and allowed a good nights rest. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The internet was good with no service problems.

    5
« Exceptional facility, service, people. »

This was our second time here. I wish we could have stayed longer. One of the top five places we have stayed - ever. Many many thanks to Christa and Kedrick for their kind service. They are the best. A great team!!

    5
    « Exceeded expectations »

Excellent location next to Assateague Island, with a bike rental across the street. The rooms are large enough for a small table & chairs with views onto the patio & swimming pool. Landscaped nicely. Since we visited off-season, there was much less traffic & the swimming pool still covered, but can imagine it's quite crowded, hustle & bustle in the summer. Reasonably priced, too.

    5
« Last 4 visits to Chincoteague, this hotel the best »

We have stayed at four different hotels on the island, and so far this one is the best. Clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, I would stay here again. We stayed off-season, have no idea what prices are in summer, but I plan on finding out.

    5
    « Great Place! »

Fabulous place.....the people were very friendly.....the place was very clean.....breakfast was great......and close to everything.......A- plus operation! Would definetly return to this hotel! And we even saw plenty of wild horses........

    « Excellent Family Weekend! »

The hotel is located right next to Assateague Island and to the Bike Depot. It was very convenient to rent and ride to the park and explore. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful especially Kedrick! The kids received a small Easter goodie basket and cookies. The view of the sunrise and sunset was perfect! Highly recommend for couples or families!

    « March Getaway »

We always enjoy our stay! Great Service and Accommodations. Hotel next to Assateague Island where there is lots to do - beach, trails, ride bikes, climb up in lighthouse, wild ponies, just enjoy nature!

    5
    « friendly! »

My daughters and I had a great time here. We got cookies on arrival and then a call to make sure we were getting settled in and didn't need anything more. Every time we walked by the front desk, they were ready with a nice greeting. The girls loved the breakfast bar, and the room was comfortable too!

    5
    « YES YES YES »

To start, the staff is OUTSTANDING - their genuine hospitality was so very much appreciated and made all the difference in the world for my weekend escape. Perfect restaurant recommendations;). All of the staff I encountered were terrific. The property and my room was clean and the bed comfy. The breakfast was such a perk and it was enjoyable to eat and chat with other guests. The location was perfect - there was only one smaller property next door that was closer to the entrance to the beach and marshes and the PONIES. Absolutely within walking/biking distance. Free parking, WiFi (I did have to work some) and terrific view from the balcony.

« Most AMAZING Hotel Ever - Made us feel at home away from home »

My husband and I have been coming to Chincoteague Island for the last 5 years to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Every year that we come, the staff at Best Western are truly AMAZING. We stayed a week this year and never missed home at all as the staff here made us feel at home. Not just one staff member but the whole team. Our room was spotless and cleaned every day. Coffee was hot and so good. Breakfast was so fulfilling. The staff gave us great recommendations for dining and attractions to go to. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. You can't go wrong. Lastly when you check in they provide you with fresh baked cookies. What a treat. I could go on and on but hopefully you get the idea. Thank you to Dawn, Kedrick, Tanya, Dee, Ann, Desmond, Both Beth's and the rest of the team. This year was the best vacation my husband and I have had in 15 years.

    « Quiet and comfortable »

Returned to the Island after not being there for 8 years. Walking into the hotel was like returning home. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room décor hasn't changed, but room was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers, only suggestion would be maybe put something up in bathroom about hot water as it gets very hot if you are not paying attention (would scald a child/elderly person very easily) Even though hotel is on the main (only road) going to Assateague, very little outside noise was noticed (traffic wise it is the slow season, but there was work being done around the pool right outside out window and noise was not an issue). Happy we returned for a short get away.

    « Super Location »

Had an amazing stay. The free breakfast is worth the stay alone, but the location is the best. At the end of the strip and right at the entrance of the Wild Life Refuge. Out the parking lot and to the right there is endless stores, shops, restaurants, food venders, parks, and ice cream. In May of 2018 a Water Park a hop skip and jump away. Out the parking lot and to the left is a museum, crab catching, wild life area, light house, and an endless beach at the ocean. The staff is friendly helpful and very pleasant. Great stay at a great location.

    « A Fantastic March Getaway »

We recently stayed at your hotel as part of our anniversary celebration and springtime pilgrimage to Chincoteague and Assateague. We've always enjoyed your accommodations and hospitality in the past, yet it has been a few years since we have returned to your resort. We were quite surprised at the renovations that have taken place since we were last there. Our room was inviting, cheery and bright, and felt spacious and "new." Beds were comfy, rooms were quiet, bathrooms sparkled, the housekeeping was immaculate, and even the outside amenities looked their best! We were welcomed with roses, chocolates, and champagne, compliments of the staff, and had a perfect balcony view of both the Lighthouse and the channel separating the two islands. We enjoyed driving through Assateague and catching the sky colors at sunset. After eating a delicious complimentary breakfast the next morning, we returned to Assateague for some beachcombing and bird watching. We found your staff to be extraordinary. We liked the degree of service at breakfast -- assistance if needed, but given the freedom to serve ourselves. The front desk contributed to our positive experience as well, welcoming us with chocolate chip cookies, and researching wind restrictions on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, appropriately timed for our departure. We never walked by the desk without the staff sharing a kind word or greeting. When it was time to check out, we headed home, knowing that we will return for a longer stay next time. Thank you for making our anniversary such a memorable one and offering your guests such a positive experience on the Shore.

    « Great time »

Great location, with a beautiful view. It's a lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was good. We'll definitely return. The hotel was well decorated, comfortable and clean. It was a wonderful weekend getaway and this was the perfect hotel!

« Home away from home »

This was my second time staying overnight off season at the Best Western Chincoteague Island. The hotel has one of the best locations on the island. It is right at the entrance to Assateague and has a fabulous view of the marsh and channel. The property is older, but is well maintained and clean. The beds are comfortable, which is always important. The bathrooms are spacious, not cramped, and the rooms are simple yet have everything you could need. I love the balcony with chairs to enjoy the view. Breakfast is simple, but it's good and plentiful. Let me get to the main reason for my 5 star review; the staff is wonderful. I did not encounter anyone from front desk to house keeping that didn't have a smile and hello. They went out of their way to help and I felt like I was staying with friends rather at a hotel. They absolutely made my visit, and I left with a huge smile.

« Excellent property and wonderful staff »

Such a great staff, clean room, good view and sufficient breakfast. Very close to the nature preserve. Will definitely return if we get the chance. Thanks Sandi, you were so helpful and kind. Everything you recommended was wonderful!

« Always enjoy our time at the Chincoteague Best Western »

The room amenities are just perfect for the overnight guest. The room is not cluttered with a bunch of stuff that you do not use/need, but all the essentials are there and working. The location is perfect for travel to the beach, and to town. One of the best things about the location is the staff that work at the Best Western Chincoteague.

    5
« Great time in Chincoteague »

We came for a short vacation on President's day. It may not be the best time to visit as many of the attractions are closed. But it was still well worth our time. The hotel was nice and comfortable. The room was very clean. I take my hat off for the staff. The nicest people you will meet in any hotel. Kind and welcoming.

    5
    « 5-Star Hotel »

This hotel is awesome. Friendly staff, great breakfast, beautiful decor and close to everything Chincoteague Island has to offer. They even offer you chocolate chip cookies upon check in - it really is the little things that make this hotel special.

    5
« We love this place! »

This is the seventh year that we have come to Chincoteague in the winter and stayed at the Best Western. They never disappoint us with their great service, friendliness and dedication to improving the property. Clearly, the owners and staff take pride in their property and work hard to keep it updated in a somewhat harsh seaside environment. We just cannot say enough good thing about the staff and their kind and friendly service. It is right over the causeway from Assateague and the park so you cannot find a better location for enjoying the winter wildlife at the park. Good internet, nice views over the balcony, and VERY CLEAN which is most important to me!! We will be back. Keep up the good work!

    5
    « Outstanding staff »

I have never experienced such amazing staff at a hotel before. Every single staff member expressed genuine care for our comfort during our stay. I'm so glad we stayed here. It's an older building that has been updated over the years, but the wonderful staff make everything great.

    5
    « Great service! »

From check-in to free chocolate chip cookies, this Best Western shone. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, offering to find items such as a certain tea when it ran out. Free coffee and tea were available in the lobby throughout the day, not just at breakfast. The staff seemed genuinely interested in making sure our off season stay was a pleasure.

    5
« Great location, friendly staff! »

This is a great little hotel. Our room was spotless. I judge cleanliness on the shower curtain. If there is any signs of mold, I question the cleanliness. I am very happy to report a brand new shower curtain was hanging . Our TV reception was a bit spotty, we would loose audio for about 3-5 seconds at a time but we were not on the TV very much. The breakfast area is a bit tight with a group, as was the case with our stay. The people working at the hotel in all capacities were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely return to this hotel that has a GREAT location just outside of the Wildlife refuge.

« Fabulous Hotel, Fabulous Staff in a Great Location »

This is the best hotel my family and I have stayed in, in a very long time! It is off-season, but we were told that hunters generally occupy numerous rooms during this time of year. The building is made well-enough that we never heard anyone. First, let me say that the staff is amazing! Beth checked us in when we first got there and she was so very helpful and got us checked in so quickly. Beth also gave us some good suggestions of places to eat in the off-season. Not only did Beth get us checked-in quickly, she also talked to us like friends, and we felt like we had known her for years. Beth also made sure we got our rewards points and a $10 gift card we were applicable for. She is a very sweet and very helpful lady. The hotel room was awesome! The beach decor was so nice, even the carpet had a beautiful pattern to it. The room was very spacious and clean, as well as the bathroom. Everything about the room was nice, it was simple and elegant at the same time. The internet worked very well, and the TV was very nice. The refrigerator and microwave also came standard in the room and worked very well. The shower worked so great, the water pressure was awesome and the shower drained so well. The cleanliness of the entire room was very impressive. The balcony was also very nice for watching the sun come up over the lighthouse and inlet. The bed was very comfortable with fresh, crisp, clean sheets. We had 3 people in the room and the beds were both queen sized, which was very nice. We went down for breakfast the next morning and we were greeted in an extremely friendly manor by Kitty (who runs the breakfast area) and Kedrick (who was running the front desk). We felt like long-time friends instead of customers. The breakfast was very nice and had hot items (eggs & cheese and meat), plus waffles with multiple fresh toppings, cereals, fruits, breads, juices, and yogurts. Kitty stopped by and asked us multiple times if we needed anything and if everything was ok. She was very sweet and helpful. Kedrick was also very helpful when we came to check out and we were given the fast check-out, so it only took a few minutes. However, we stayed a little longer just talking about local history and events, since the front desk was slower, because of the off-season. If you are ever in the Chincoteague area and want to stay the night, my family and I highly recommend the Best Western Chincoteague Island. You won't get a friendlier staff or a nicer, quiet stay anywhere else on the island. We definitely plan to go back and stay longer next time. If I could give it more than 5 stars I definitely would.

    « Wow...These Folks Do It Right »

Checked in for a 2 night stay, off season, & immediately was impressed by the super friendly & helpful front desk staff. Bright, spacious room, great TV channel choices, comfy bed, power shower, above average wifi & a really nice in-room coffee maker & microwave. Complimentary breakfast is pretty good...especially the biscuits & sausage gravy & the entire property is clean & well maintained. We'll visit Chincoteague again & will never stay anywhere else but here.

    « Anniversary Celebration »

The Best Western Chincoteague Island staff and facility were absolutely awesome! They provided personal attention, friendly atmosphere, unhurried great breakfasts, a beautiful view from our spotless room, with fast speed WI-Fi connections. Couldn't have had a better location that met our needs: quiet, privacy, nearby excellent restaurants (select days and hours), OPEN Creamery , and of course the opportunity to tour Chincoteague Island, to see the multitude of waterfowl, the nesting eagles, deer, and of course the ponies. A great time of year if you don't like crowds, mosquitoes, and sweltering heat. Dress appropriately and have a memorable time! Allan & Carol - 47 years

    « Winter Visit »

Unfortunately, the weather was not the greatest and it was very cold, but the hotel accommodations were very good. The staff was excellent, the room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was ok to get us going in the morning. The balconies offer a nice view of the lighthouse, but the entrance to the rooms are outdoors in the rear. OK for good weather, not so for bad. Offseason rates were very good. If we ever go back, it will be when the weather is warmer. The bike path to the National Refuge is very close to hotel.

    5
    « A Home Away from Home »

We love the Best Western in Chincoteague!!! The staff is beyond excellent...from the front desk staff ( Christa, Desmond, Garry, and Beth ) to the breakfast attendants ( Anne and Kitty) to the Housekeeping ( Tanya). They exhibit consistent professionalism and the friendliness which makes us feel immediately at home!! The rooms are spacious and well appointed... the private balconies offer a restful place to enjoy a bit of relaxation ... and the convenient location all add up to an A plus getaway!! We have been coming to this Best Western for more than two years...whenever we visit the Island and we will return many times in the future!!! It is indeed a perfect "home away from home"!!! Thank you!!!

« VIP on Free BW Points »

Location next to Assateague Island National Park, home of wild ponies and subject of the classic book "Misty" by M. Henry. Great hotel. Friendly staff. Nice free breakfast. Assigned VIP room even though our stay was completely free. We also found the town of Chicoteague full of interesting small shops. Found a small family owned restaurant called Bill's Steak House. Not only the most delicious food we have ever had in decades of eating out, but large portions to insure dinner for the next day. I had the filet. My husband had lobster tail. Destination location. Beach, Chincoteague wild ponies, shopping, home made salt water taffy, old time movie theater, water fowl carvings, and a hidden jewel of a restaurant.

« Excellent option for beach vacation »

There are no hotels on the beach because it is a national wildlife refuge so this is an excellent option. The hotel is closest to the national wildlife refuge so it is not within walking distance of ?downtown.? However, there's a restaurant next door and McDonalds across the street. There is also a bike rental and horse enclosure across the street. The room was very clean. The bathrooms in rooms with king beds do not have a lot of counter space but the rooms with double beds do. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable. You can buy lunches to go and rent beach equipment. They will allow you to take the pool towels to the beach but will charge you if they aren't returned. The only downside is that the breakfast area can get crowded because it isn't very large.

« Best Western Chincoteague, VA »

Great place to stay for our photography trip to Chincoteague. The staff was very accommodating and the front desk lady went out of her way to allow us to use the breakfast area to sit and work on our pictures after our day out. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of items to pick from each day.

    4
    « Wonderful Wildlife »

This hotel is situated less than a mile from a wonderful wildlife refuge. Go out the door, cross the bridge, and you are in wildlife heaven: wild ponies, egrets, snow geese, great blue herons, ospreys, sandpipers, woodpeckers, Sika deer, and more.

Always a pleasurable experience, and I refuse to consider any other place to stay on Chincoteague Island. We have a long history with this hotel and staff. They always treat us as valued guests. If they don't have something, then I don't really need it.

We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff members at check in. It is a great location to get to the wildlife refuge; maps of Chincoteague and the refuge were right at the front desk. You turn east from route 13 onto route 175 and proceed 10 miles to just short of the entrance to the Assateague national wildlife park,a bird watchers paradise. The Best Western is on the left.On the way you have passed the Wallops Island NASA museum and the military airport. The museum is appropriate for all ages and the visit will last an hour. The beach is only a 10 minute drive from the hotel and you may see wild ponies on the way.You can stop and see the wildlife museum and climb the Chincoteague Lighthouse. A one week pass per auto is $10 ,bicycle riders are free. The beach is wide, white and well maintained! Chincoteague has all the tourist stores, amusement games you could ask! Fishing trips are readily available the seafood restaurants are abundant.

« Home away from home »

We had such a lovely time at the Best Western on Chincoteague Island!! The hotel was clean and in a great location. The staff was warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. They helped us find the restaurants that were open off-season, they provided us with games to play and suggestions of things to do. We don't travel that often, but rarely do we find staff so friendly and hotels with so many amenities included. We will definitely come back another time.

    « Great location - »

We were in the area to see the wild horses and hotel was in the perfect location. The room was clean and met our expectations. The staff was very friendly. The only issue was there was very little room in the breakfast area. We are planning another trip in the spring and will most likely stay at this location - wish the pool was inside, but understand that is not possible!

    « Great Service @ Chincoteague »

Unbelievable service, everyone from the Front Desk staff, to the breakfast area, to the cleaning personnel were extremely attentive and accommodating. I have not experience this level of service before, not even in 5-star hotels. A great location to visit the Assateague Island Natural Reserve or watch (walking distance between the hotel and the Reserve) rocket launches from the Wallops Island Flight Facility.

« One of the best Best Westerns »

I've been to many Best Western hotels around the county and I have to say this is one of the very best, in terms of cleanliness, friendly staff and a modern appearance. It also has a great location being right next to the park entrance. You can walk right outside and have a great view of Assateague Island, the lighthouse and Wallops Island launch area if there are any launches occuring during your stay. The breakfast area is a little small but the selections are well stocked and good. The internet service was average and could be a little faster but usable.

    « Best Staff ever »

Great staff overall at this hotel, especially Garry. Made us comfortable and were very welcoming. Hotel is very close to Chincoteague National Park and made it easy to come and go to warm up and use the bathrooms......Hotel is very clean, good beds, and good breakfast in the morning. Will definately stay here again.

    « Great Mini Vacation »

Great location. Classic, but well maintained "lodge" feel but this location was updated to Best Western chain standards. That's the charm of this facility, all the lobby and my room had very warm decor with artful reminders of the beautiful area. The wild ponies, wildlife reserve and the history of the Chincoteague waterway, were used. Obvious that maintenance and housekeeping are top priority. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and proud of this location. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Clean and comfortable hotel in an excellent location next to the park entrance and a small museum. We brought bikes and road them right into the park. Breakfast was included and well-stocked. We definitely recommend!

« Lovely Hotel, Great Location, Wonderful Staff »

If you are lucky, you will be welcomed by Christa and Desmond, when you arrive at this well-located lodging. (Christa worked out a tricky booking dilemma for me with great kindness. Thank you!) My room, with an outlook of the beautiful coastal wetlands, was clean and attractive and comfortable. VERY highly recommended.

« BW at Chincoteague Island »

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the staff was great the hotel was very clean. Very close to the national park. Breakfast was great. Room outstanding. it was at the end of the island but close to everything.

« Best Location on the Island »

This is the place to stay if you want to be right near the Animal Refuge, and the Beach. The hotel was clean, friendly, coffee and tea is offered all day with fruit. The front desk was very knowledgeable on giving ideas what to see and where to eat.. We were there off season and on a Monday so we missed out on the Museum right next door.Cannot wait to return. The breakfast was very good and everything was fresh.

    5
    « Convenient and relaxing! »

We've stayed here the last 2 visits and it's the best place for what you pay! Convenience to wherever you want to go especially to Assateague Island! Great friendly staff who makes your stay relaxing!

« Best Place on Chincoteague Island To Stay »

The only place on Chincoteague Island that I stay. Have been there many times and will definitely return. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. I have never been disappointed.

    « Always Enjoyable! »

This is our go-to place on the Island. It is in a great location, the staff is wonderful, and the place is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are nicely furnished, always clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is quite good and if the weather is nice, it is fun to sit out on the covered patio and enjoy the view. The location is the best of all the hotels on the Island since it is located right at the end of the causeway leading to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the beach on Assateague Island. You can even walk from the hotel and be in the refuge in about 10 minutes. Tops in our book!

« Great place for a low key girls weekend »

The hotel was clean and in a great location to go and see the ponies. The beds were comfy and the wifi worked well. The staff was friendly and it was nice to have a breakfast included. Our balcony was in the front of the hotel and the view of the lighthouse was nice. It was convenient for visiting Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Looking forward to a future stay here.

« Ponies and Birds, oh my! »

We always stay at the Best Western when we go to Chincoteague---about twice a year. The staff is attentive, the location is close to all things Chincoteague, the breakfast is always good. And let's not forget Don's Seafood in downtown Chincoteague!

    5
« Great value, exceeded expectations »

My friend and I just came for a short trip to see the ponies. I was pleasantly surprised by who great our short stay here was. The room was big with a lot of amenities. The staff was great. The breakfast also very good. I feel like I got more here than I have gotten for a similar price at other hotels. Very satisfied and would come back if ever in the area again.

    5
    « Pleasant Environment & Friendly Staff »

Pleasant beach decor; perfect mattress; helpful and friendly hotel staff (front desk and breakfast server), clean inside and out. Great location to refuge and shops. I will definitely return for many years to come.

« Such Friendly Folk, Such a Nice Property »

DH and I enjoyed our three night stay at this Best Western, from check in to check out. The staff (each and every one!) was super friendly and helpful. The room and grounds were immaculate. This was our first trip to Chincoteague. The Museum of Chincoteague (next door) is worth a couple visits. We absolutely recommend this Best Western to anybody visiting the island. We would love to be there right now!

    5
« Great location and roomy accommodations »

The Best Western hotel on Chincoteague Island is conveniently located at the end of the bridge to Assateague Island, making it perfect for bicyclists and hikers who want to explore the island and beach without the hassle of a car. The rooms are extra large and spotlessly clean, with balconies large enough for two or three chairs. The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful.

    « Never A Disappointment! »

This was my sixth stay at this hotel and will continue to stay at Best Western in Chincoteague. From the moment you enter the lobby, you are greeted with a warm smile, a welcoming greeting and some delicious chocolate chip cookies! The ease to check-in and the knowledge that the staff has concerning restaurants, boat tours, places to explore, and local shops is fantastic! Once in your room, you get a call from the Front Desk checking to see how you like your room and if you need anything. Honestly, there are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe our feelings about the Employees, cleanliness, comfort and the delicious breakfast that is served every morning. I have never encountered another hotel that even comes close to what you experience at this Best Western!

    5
    « Great stay! »

We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed our stay! The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. We especially love the location! All of the staff were very friendly. The front desk gave us some great recommendations on places to eat. Breakfast was good even though I wish the seating area was a little larger. All in all a great visit! Would highly recommend!

    « Great hotel »

This is where we always stay when we visit Chincoteague. It is conveniently located and the staff and accommodations are great. It's quiet and comfortable and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on the island.

  • 5
« Surprised by this motel »

It is nice looking, in an ideal location at the entrance to Assateague Island, well kept, and comfortable. The reservation agent was friendly as was the on-site staff. Those attitudes usually means the owner is good to the staff. It makes the visit especially pleasant.

    1
    « Very good Experience »

I took my mom and my two small children to Chincoteague for 4 nights. We were very satisfied with the service, cleanliness and the location of the Best Western Hotel. The staff was very friendly at all times. Over the weekend the beakfast area got a bit crowded and it felt like there were not enough tables and chairs, but they allow you to take your food to your room in case you don't find a seat.

    5
« Excellent hotel at the doorstep of Assateague Reserve »

Located just short of the causeway to Assateague and its beaches, this is an altogether excellent hotel in every respect. We stayed here for two nights in October, and found the rooms exceptionally spacious, comfortable, well-furnished and equipped. The bathrooms deserve special mention -- two sinks, great shower, bright lighting, spotlessly clean. The desk staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, and the lavish breakfast was most welcome. Our only complaint is that the free WiFi was a bit buggy, with frequent dropouts.

    5
    « Best hotel experience »

Everything was perfect. Can't say much more than we were thrilled with each amenity and staff. Loved that the pool was still open because the weather was unseasonably warm. The lobby, breakfast room, surrounding areas and our room sparkled.

    5
« Great hotel, perfect location »

This is a lovely property, beautifully maintained and excellently staffed. The pool and the landscaping around it from a tranquil oasis, and you can forget you're across the road from a McDonalds. All the staff was incredibly friendly and outgoing. The location can't be beat: right at the island over the Assateague Island. There's a bike rental place across the way, and you can pick up bikes and get over to the beach in minutes. Walking distance (albeit along a busy road) from good restaurants. Diner next door.

    5
« THE place to stay on the island »

We visit Chincoteague at least twice a year. We have been staying at this location since shortly after it was built....well before it became a BW property. Level of upkeep and friendliness of the staff has remained a constant though the years. We will return in the spring, if not sooner. If you want the cold, sterile environment of a Comfort Inn or Hampton, this is not your place. If you want to feel like you are visiting a good friend or relative who welcomes you presence in comfortable, warm surrounding, this is it!

    5
    « Comfortable and attractive »

Very nice hotel, great beds, lots of room, courteous and helpful staff. Close to the beach for beach people. Good price. Overall really great. We will stay there again when we next go to Chincoteague.

    5
« Great location and lovely staff »

This hotel is simple but has a great location, and the staff couldn't be nicer. If you plan to bike through the wildlife refuge, this is the perfect location, as it is literally right on the entrance to the refuge where the bike trails begin. Lovely views of the marsh from every room! Rooms were clean, spacious and decently appointed. Only issue was that the TV did not work. Breakfast left a lot to be desired, but hey, it was included, so can't complain too much. There is a diner right next door with an inexpensive breakfast buffet if you need something better. I would definitely stay here again when we come back to Chincoteague!

    5
« What a lovely weekend get away! »

My daughter and I stayed here for a weekend get away and had a wonderful time! Our room was spotlessly clean. Each of the staff members we met with were helpful and friendly. It was so nice having breakfast ready for us each morning. The hotel was located very close to the wildlife reserve, which made it easy to go back and forth from the beach to our room to freshen up. Our stay was lovely and I would definitely go back.

    4
« excellent hotel and Island »

We always stay here either to visit friends in the area or on the way to Florida. Staff is friendly, hotel clean with a great breakfast, and the Island has plenty of nature to offer. It's also great for families with children with many activities available in town and on the Island. Adults can have a quiet get-away and relax, bike ride or walk the many trails. Bird watchers can check off many birds on their life list at migration times.

    « Outstanding Service »

We have stayed at this hotel 6 times now and every trip just confirms it as the best choice in Chincoteague. Everyone on staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. They will go out of their way to meet (and even surpass) your needs. Complimentary breakfast provides choices for every palate or diet. Options are kept full right up to the end of serving time. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The premises is very clean and well maintained. Access to the refuge is as close as you can get. View from the balconies (especially on the pool side) are terrific. Outdoor swimming pool available.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

We spent one night and really enjoyed the place. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the small balcony with chairs and table. Staff was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us.

    5
« Loved it! Comfortable, nice workers, very welcoming. »

The place was great! Comfortable and clean room, with an intelligent shower (the floor of the shower extended across the bathroom--with appropriate drainage sloping--so disabled or old people had easy access... all hotel showers should be like this!) Reception was quick, easy, and friendly. All the workers were like this. They said each Best Western is privately owned... that sounds like a good thing! Breakfast was good, organized, and ample. I'm looking forward to visiting more hotels like this one!

    4
« Nice stay by the park »

The hotel is located at the edge of the park, so it is very convenient. The room was clean and functional, the bed was acceptable. The breakfast is usual for a Best Western. While to room was small, there was seating outside. The food was hot where needed, and kept stocked through the morning. The front staff was curteous and helpful

    5
« Staff goes out of there way to make your stay great. »

I love staying at this hotel because the staff is really friendly and caring. They learned my name and offered me things to improve my stay that I didn't even think of. They can recommend fun things to do on the island because they are locals. The pool is great and all the rooms have balconies. Really close the Assateague!

    3
    « Good location »

This hotel is located very close to the park access, which makes it convenient for bikers and for beach access. The room was clean with a small bath in which there was no room for toiletries. We kept the tooth brushes in the room. Breakfast was average with only one waffle machine. Breakfast room is small and very uncomfortable as people cannot pass through tables. Check out time is at 11, which is okay, but be prepared because a minute after 11 (even if you did not check out) your key will not work and you have to do to the receptionist if you left anything in the room.

    4
    « best western stay »

was a pretty good hotel, rooms were clean and nicely decorated, the breakfast was good, the area for breakfast could be bigger, did not like it when my husband and I were going to go for a swim on a hot and sunny and a maintenance man appears to start cleaning dead mosquitoes out of the pool, and then he added water to the pool and dumped chemicals into the pool, we just thought this could have been done in the morning before anyone would have used the pool

    5
« Wonderful hotel near the refuge and beach! »

We have stayed at this property, which is now a Best Western, for several years and love it! The hotel, staff, and location are terrific! Best Western is generous with loyalty points and discounts and always keep us coming back! Wonderful

« Great service!!! Loved everything and everyone. »

No complaints. Everything was Great. Thank you!!! Kids loved the pool and all the little things the staff did that made our stay even more enjoyable. They were very helpful and nice the whole time. LOVE!!!

    « Excellent! »

I highly recommend this hotel! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms clean, and the exterior is kept up and beautiful. They served a hot breakfast which we enjoyed. It's a great vacation spot for families!

    « Annual visit »

We have visited Chincoteague after Labor Day for several years always staying at the Best Western. It is convenient to the wildlife refuge and many shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly. The breakfast buffet is typical for a nice hotel and there is an outdoor seating area and pool. The upper rooms have a nice view of the water.

    4
« Best Hotel off of Main Street »

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. I hate to recommend this hotel, because I was so happy to have found a little gem off of the Main Street strip. It's walking distance to Assateague Island and the Chincoteague Museum is next door. This hotel even has a "back yard" complete with picnic tables and a grill. Fantastic for us - since we were successful in our crabbing mission :) The pool was clean and the rooms were clean and well maintained also. My only criticism is the size of the breakfast area. Breakfast was great, but it's very crowded with limited space due to the tables set up within the small area. Lovely though that they have seating outside as well.

    4
    « Relaxing Weekend »

We spent the past weekend at the Chincoteague Best Western. The staff was efficient and friendly. Both check in and out were prepared for us ahead of time. We stayed in a large room on the third floor. The room had a king bed, microwave, fridge and Kuerig. The room was clean and simply decorated. The pool area was lovely, as was the outdoor seating under a pergola. Although we did not partake, the morning breakfast was busy and people seemed satisfied. The view of the lighthouse from the veranda was beautiful. We'll be back!

    5
    « Anniversary get-away »

The Best Western in Chincoteague is a delightful place to stay. It is conveniently located near the national refuge and local shops and restaurants. Rooms are clean and fresh and the staff very courteous and helpful.

« Great Place To Stay »

This is my second stay in Chincoteague and I am glad I chose Best Western [both times]. The location is perfect and the hotel is attractive and very clean. It's quiet and the staff is friendly. Great views from the balconies!!

    « Consistency! »

This hotel never disappoints in any way. Excellent service, thoughtful touches in the room like salt water taffy, cleanliness and the staff is terrific. From the front desk staff to everyone behind the scenes, you can count on the getting polite and thoughtful service. The location is handy to everything you need.

    5
    « Wonderful visit »

A wonderful hotel with friendly staff. Clean and quiet. Can't wait to return. Breakfast was delicious and was available early in the morning. The room was large with a coffee machine and a nice size refrigerator.

« Great Place to stay! »

Very happy with my stay at the Best Western Chincoteague. Location is great, beautiful view of the lighthouse and closest to Assateague Island. Very tasty breakfast, plenty of seating indoor & outdoor. Our room was spacious and lovely, enjoyed sitting on our balcony in the evening overlooking the lighthouse. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

    4
« Super location, nice hotel »

We loved our balcony view of Assateague lighthouse and the breakfast outside on the porch! Right at the entrance to the National Seashore, easily reachable with a bike. Staff were all super nice! We love to come back.

    « Birthday September 2017 »

First we were greeted with cookies, and directions to all things to do on the island. Our room was clean, spacious, and very modern decor. We were on the 2nd floor so foot noise from floor 3 was not so pleasant. The bathroom had 2 sinks, we had a king bed, and since it was my birthday we came back to the room after lunch to champagne, chocolates and local treats and nice note left from our housekeeper. The front desk was super helpful in directions and activities and this hotel is closest to the beach. We were only their for 2 days but already can't wait to come back.

    « Short Break »

We normally rent a house on Chincoteague, but this year we only had a few nights so took a chance on a hotel. Great experience. Definitely the way to go for shorter stays. Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The location right before the crossing to Assateague is also excellent.

    5
    « 5 star staff and landscaping »

The staff were the nicest and friendliest I have ever encountered at any hotel. The landscaping was breathtaking. This hotel has put A LOT of thought and care to every detail of the landscaping from the hibiscuses to the green beans twisted up the gazebo. Our room was on second floor with balcony overlooking the pool. Very clean but could use better lighting. AC worked well. Beds were comfortable and the room was fairly spacious. It is perfectly located next to the Chincoteague museum, trolley stop, and next to the bike path going into the wildlife refuge. There are no side walks for walking to restaurants and stores so recommend biking everywhere. Across the street is a bike depot where you can rent bikes. We rode bikes everywhere...to star pony for fresh donuts, to pico taqueria for lunch or dinner, to play mini golf, and to the beach and lighthouse. It was a perfect weekend getaway for the right price thanks to Groupon. We plan to come back and will definitely stay at the Best Western.

    « Wonderful staff! »

Hotel is very nice, pool and patio are lovely, but the staff is simply amazing. That made us feel welcome, and after our 3 day stay we hated to leave them. Ask for recommendations on where to eat. They won't steer you wrong!

It is a nice location and patio balcony is a plus to watch the activities along the street! I would return to enjoy the local activities and NWR's beach area on the island. The Front Office staff very pleasant!

« This hotel is awesome! »

Beautiful and we'll kept grounds. Love the balcony and friendly staff. Nice and clean too. Close to the ponies and park. On the main drag. Great view of the Lighthouse. Balcony has 2 chairs and a table and is covered in the event of rain. Very relaxing!

    « Five Stars »

Had a lovely 2 night stay. Our room was spotless and our housekeeper, Anna, even left us little notes as well as a small gift for our daughter. The pool was very clean as well. Staff were all extremely friendly. The best experience we've had at a hotel EVER!!!! I highly recommend. This will be our hotel of choice every time we return to Chincoteague.

    5
« Convenient location, Friendly staff »

It was our first time visiting this area and we loved it. We usually go To ocean city but decided to visit Chincoteague and we don't regret it. The staff at the best western is so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very spacious, they provide breakfast and trays for you to be able to take food back to your room and there's a nice pool right outside the front of the hotel. Even though the hotel was sold out the week we checked in, it didn't feel crowded at all. We really liked this location and the convenience of it. It's only a 5 minute drive away from the beach. This will definitely be our 1st pick for hotels to stay in, next time we come to visit!

    5
« Best of the Best Westerns;-) »

Very nice and accommodating staff, the hospitality was superb. Clean room, pool, great location on the island and breakfast was more than just bagels (eggs, sausage, waffle maker and more). Would absolutely return to this Best Western.

« Wonderful place to stay »

We are Seniors on a girl's trip and didn't know what to expect in Chincoteague, VA. The hotel staff is amazing. Desmond, at the front desk, had helped me make the reservation and he was delightful when we arrived. Upon our departure Christa and Sandi were also wonderful. We learned that Christa had once lived in my area and she looked at our driving directions and made it simple for us to get back home. Sandi was also sweet and helped us find a restaurant we had wanted to try. If they are reading this - thanks for all of your help. Christa - we used your directions and they were perfect.

    « A Great Motel Stay »

My wife and I and our two grandchildren stayed at this hotel, as recommended by the 'Roads Scholar' learning adventures. The hotel was very clean, the staff very helpful and the location was perfect for our needs. The kids loved the pool and during our 5 days here they had loads of fun in the water. The grounds and facilities were top rate.

    5
    « Excellent service »

Room was ready earlier than expected. Room was clean and staff was friendly and helpful. The food was okay (never like mama made it) it was hot and lots of choices. The grounds were beautiful and enjoyable while at the hotel

    « Very nice stay »

Spent a few nights end of May. The hotel was right outside the entrance to chincoteague. Our bedroom was facing the street which was across from a McDonald's. The view of McDonald's was unfortunate but it didn't ruin it entirely. You still could see the marshy area and it was nice to leave the doors open to hear and feel the breeze and wildlife. The room was VERY clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasn't bad either. -side note, I think this was considered the off season. After a certain hour almost all restraunts were closed for the night and there wasn't many places nice to eat. Hopefully peak season would be different. So in that case Mc Donald's and the hotel snacks came in handy.

    5
    « Very Nice »

The room was extremely clean and nicely furnished. My only complaint was the breakfast area was so small everyone was elbow to elbow and bumping into one another trying to get in and out. House keeping was great and furnishings were nice.

    5
« Great Room, Great Personnel. »

Would stay here again! Room was very clean, staff was friendly, great free breakfast. Krista (service desk) was accommodating and friendly yet professional. She always had a smile and made me feel very welcome. Asked for extra towels and shampoo and got them immediately.

    4
    « Quiet and attractive »

Spent four days here this August. Although it's more than I would typically pay for a hotel at around $200/night, the peace and quiets as well as the overall location made this a winner. Typical decor and furnishings. Clean.Very nice front desk. Not a fan of the complimentary breakfast . Patio and pool are beautiful. Loads of stuff to do nearby. Lots of bike riding and small shops. NOT for those who enjoy an active night life or for "party hearty" mentality.

    4
« nice stay but expensive »

We stayed for 2 nights; liked having waffles for breakfast but breakfast area is small and can be crowded; the room was fine, nothing fancy; the room air conditioning wasn't great but might have just been that room; has outside area to rinse off sand; plenty of parking and easy to find; across the street from a McDonalds though which had bright lights at night; also has beach chairs etc. available for rent but we didn't use it. Overall, I paid more than I expected for a hotel, but booked it the week before.

    5
« Excellence personified Great location friendly helpful staff. Very nice room with very comfortable beds. »

We were part of a group. Everything was great from check in through breakfast, pool, services, answering questions, restaurant recommendations, directions. Clean rooms and bath, great air conditioning in room and lobby.

    « Always welcoming »

As usual the staff were very helpful and accommodating for the things I needed. I hadn't been here since the remodeling and I must say it looks great. Room décor is well done, beds are still nice and comfy, it it's always clean. We always meet other nice guests and families during our stay which is also enjoyable.

    « Great loacation »

The location couldn't be better, near the Wildlife Refuge and museum. Breakfast was crapped, as they only have 6 tables inside, a few more outside if weather cooperates. Pool was beautiful. Front desk was very helpful, especially Desmond.

    « Best Western Chincoteague »

The hotel was in a perfect location close to the bridge to Assateague. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the pool was very nice, and the Chincoteague diner next store was a great place to eat with the family, especially in the screened in porch. The hotel also has a new screened in dining area that overlooks the bridge. We were very pleased and plan to return another year.

    « Wonderful »

Best Western Chincoteague Island Hotel helped to make our vacation stress free. The staff was wonderful - offering ideas for places to eat, things to go. Everyone there were pleasant and friendly. This trip was a bucket list event to see the ponies and this hotel is just next to the entrance to Assateague Island - I highly recommend it!!

« Not what I was expecting in a good way »

My experience with BW was long ago and did nor have high expectations. When we got to our room I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and spacious. We did not feel cramped (2 adults and teen)and had room to spread out. Closest hotel to Assateague and bike rentals across the street. I would say it is a bit pricey but at the time of booking most places booked (week of pony swim) so we took what we found. Since I had no other rates to base the price take this with a grain of salt. I would book again knowing the quality.

    « Great Chincoteague Hotel »

Once again, the Best Western Chincoteague was a great place to stay during our family trip. The hotel grounds, lobby, pool, landscaping, guest room and staff are great. Every time we visit we are always happy with our stay.

« Attended Roads Scholar Program with the Grandchildre »

We spent 5 nights with our two grandchildren while attending a Roads Scholar Program. Although the grandchildren enjoyed the new experiences, their favorite things were the Best Western pool and the staff. We would have afternoon and after dinner free time. They wanted to go to play in the pool. In addition, Carrie who cleaned our room would answer notes the grandchildren wrote her. The entire staff was warm and friendly.

    5
    « Road Scholar Program »

Arrangements made by Road Scholar for an all inclusive family program. BW accommodations were very pleasant and convenient. Pool utilized by all families attending the program. Breakfast very good with both inside and outside seating.

« Excellent, clean and friendly »

This was an enjoyable trip made better by our stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and more than expected. The room was clean, spacious, and accomodating. The bed was very comfortable. No strange hotel smells, often found at the beach. Grounds were very well maintained and beautiful.

« Solo Travelers Need Not Apply »

Management at this property is extremely rude and hostile to solo travelers. On the other hand, they happily pack families of five into single rooms--at the same price a single traveler pays--which makes it nearly impossible to get breakfast in the morning in their minuscule "breakfast area." Moreover, on some days management arbitrarily ceases serving hot breakfast items earlier than advertised...just because they can. But don't worry....even if this Best Western arbitrarily breaks its commitment to provide the "hot breakfast" you paid for as part of your contractually-agreed-upon room price, on such occasions you can always walk across the street to McDonalds, of which each and every room has a wonderful view! Oh....and bring sanitary wipes for the room. "Clean" and "sanitary" are not the same thing!!

    3
    « Great staff »

The hotel staff was excellent, the rooms are good and clean. The bathroom was no lt so good as the tub clogged. Hotel was fully booked and couldn't switch to a different room. Would have to wait alon time for water to go down .

    5
    « Extremely Friendly Staff »

The staff at BW were incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable. They suggested places for us to see, and helped us when we locked ourselves out of the room. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat.

    5
    « Chincoteague »

Wonderful...best word for Best Western Chincoteague. Clean, friendly, great view. Chincoteague is an enchanting place. It was sad to see the streaks in the sky daily ..yeah- they are spraying, and not telling. It's called Geoengineering. Various knotheads still calling it a conspiracy. Look up, and keep watching, they will fess up soon. Too bad it's killing all the beautiful trees there. Chemical spray...no good for anyone.

    « Location! Friendly clean and complimentary breakfast ready at 5:45 a m ! »

If you're an early riser , they're set up with coffee and breakfast by 5:45 a m , while the rest of the town is asleep. Especially friendly staff and lovely grounds, meticulously cared for. Great location, closest to the beach and bike rentals on location with safe great bike lanes straight to the beach. A Chincoteague favorite! Great pool, easy parking, right next to rooms for super easy access.

« Very kind and nice to stay in »

I love staff hear, and their kindness to serve customers. The hotel is very clean, and well managed. It is next to a bridge to Assateague island, so the environment around the hotel is scenic. Everyone can enjoy the leave.

« Great service at the Chincoteague Island Best Western »

We spent two nights at this Best Western and had a wonderful experience. The entire staff was outstanding, all our requests were promptly accommodated, and the rooms and facilitates were all top notch. The breakfast serving staff of one, was pretty amazing. There was always food, drinks, and coffee available, even during the "rushes". The pool was very clean, and the hotel's location adjacent to the refuge makes it a very convenient place to stay. Outstanding.

    « A Pleasant Stay »

Was pleasantly surprised at how nice a hotel this little place was. In town for a couple days on business with the Navy. Very comfortable bed with crispy sheets, clean bathroom and free breakfast. The warm cookies at check-in really closed the deal. Recommended.

« Another great stay on Chincoteague Island »

This is our third stay here at this hotel. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We just love coming back from the beach and taking a dip in the pool. In the evenings it's quite nice to sit on the balcony or poolside. As always, the hotel was clean, beds comfy, and the staff friendly. Great job!

« Road trip. Great results!! »

Great location. Great staff. So easy for the kids to enjoy. Pool was a little strong with the chlorine. Breakfast was perfect for the little ones. Cereal and waffles always go over well. Seating area was a little cramped.

« First vacation of the summer. »

Have been coming here for a number of years now bringing our grandchildren. The hotel is the closest one to Assateague island. Always beautiful surroundings, well kept and maintained. Rooms are super clean and well furnished. Breakfast is great every morning. Staff is very accommodating.

    « Excellent hotel »

Excellent staff, great service and nice accommodations Everyone was helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant The location was also perfect as it was directly adjacent to the nature area and the water.

« Fantastic employees, wonderful place to stay »

I spent six nights at the Best Western on Chincoteague Island and I was very pleased with every aspect of the hotel. The employees at the front desk were very helpful and excellent at recommending places to eat. The rooms were clean and very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

    2
« Hostile to solo travelers - unsanitary rooms »

Solo travelers need not visit this location - you are not welcome there. The hotel routinely packs 4-5 people into a room, which makes it impossible to get breakfast in the morning with the hoards of children packing the impossibly-cramped breakfast area. In addition, the two property managers are VERY passive-aggressive toward female guests, especially if you bring problems to their attention, such as, for example, when they stop breakfast service before the advertised hours have expired simply because they feel like cleaning up a bit early on any given day. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO GO - there are lots of brand new, up-to-date properties on the island with more professional managers on staff.

« Caring Staff and Great location! »

How wonderful to be greeted by Beth. It's like your Mom when she hasn't seen you in a while. "Mon in" and she gives out warm cookies. All staff was friendly. Beds comfortable and room was clean. The closest hotel to Chincoteague National Shoreline which is a GEM!

    5
« Great job by all of the staff. They went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed. »

Very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and restaurants. My husband had stayed here before and it certainly didn't disappoint. Close access to the beach and all amenities in the area. When we come back we will likely stay here again.

    « Another great visit »

Every year we think this hotel can't out do itself and every time we are pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean comfortable and staff goes out of their way to make for an incredible stay. We stay here every year when we come to chincoteague. Its been four years in a row. Next year we will be back for our fifth stay at best western chincoteague and we are hoping to talk some family into coming with us. Wonderful place!!!!!

« Great hotel near the beach »

The people make this hotel. What a great staff! Always have kind words and good recommendations. Thanks for posting the Farmer's Market poster, we went and found all kinds of good fresh, local things to eat. The updates were noticed! New flooring, etc. Always a spotless place to stay and the most convenient. I never give a hotel a 10, but I am proud to do so here!

« Relaxing Vacation at an awesome Best Western »

We have been staying at Best Western- Chincoteague for 6 years. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is great and all the staff is helpful and so friendly. I love the updates and remodeling in the rooms. Tomisha cleaned our room and she did an awesome job. She even left us a note telling us to have a great stay! All the staff does a wonderful job.

    « Number 1 on Chincoteague! »

We stayed here with a couple of family friends (4 rooms total) and we had nothing but the best to say about this place! Rooms: Spacious and clean! We got rooms facing the pool on the first floor. It was super easy to go back and forth between swims. Our cars were parked right outside our doors too. Really awesome when you have kids! Breakfast: Good selection. Cereals, pastries, eggs and always some sort of meat. My daughter enjoyed the waffles. The lobby had fruit and coffee 24/7. Staff: Everyone was friendly and welcoming. They were always quick to respond to questions and made transactions smooth. Location: The closest one to the park entrance! There is a bike depot right across the street too. Thank you Best Western Chincoteague. We will be coming back!

    5
« Best Western - Chincoteague Island is awesome! »

An awesome hotel right next to the entrance to the Nature Preserve! Right across the street is a McDonalds, and a bike shop that has a corral filled with 3 ponies. My 3 year old son loved the ponies! The Chincoteague Diner is on the one side of the hotel and offers great food at a reasonable price. There's a museum on the other side of the hotel as well. There is a Trolley Stop right by the hotel as well! The staff is amazingly friendly and will do anything for you! Our Housekeeper Anna left a note for our 3 year old son the one day telling him to enjoy the beach and gave him a small beach ball. She also left a note for our family telling us that she hoped we enjoyed our stay and wished us safe travels home! She also left the room spotless! Overall it was an awesome 3 nights spent at this hotel!

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

We stay here every year! We love how close it is to the wildlife refuge....we park our bikes out back and ride every morning. The people at the front desk and the cleaning crew are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean, modern and all have a great view of the lighthouse! The breakfast offerings are wonderful and its fun to eat outside on the patio.

    5
« Great location, Fabulous staff! »

The Best Western has the best location on the island if you're wanting to spend time at the national park-you're right at the end of the bridge! It's a 3 minute walk & you're in the park-hard to beat! The employees are wonderful. Over the course of our 4 day stay, we met several & every employee was friendly & knowledgeable. They gave us great recommendations for dinner & tours & even reminded us to bring our Senior Citizen National Park Pass so we could get in the park free. Our room was spacious & immaculately clean. Their rooms are designed so that each one goes the width of the building. It's great-you walk in the back door & pass through your room onto your balcony or patio. (We were fortunate enough to be on the 3rd floor, which had a great view of the lighthouse). Breakfast was typical chain hotel fare-waffles, sausage or bacon, eggs, biscuits, cereal, yogurt, etc. It was nice to have a free breakfast available every morning. (I especially liked adding fruit & whipped cream on my Belgian waffle!) Coffee, hot chocolate & fruit is available at all times. This is definitely the place to stay on Chincoteague.

    « Excellent! »

Just spent 2 nights at the Best Western in Chincoteague, Virginia, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and greeted us with big smiles. The location was perfect, the rooms were clean and updated, the beds were comfy, the breakfast buffet had a great variety to choose from. We have stayed at this hotel over the years and it keeps getting better.

    « Fine motel »

Very well satisfied with the accommodations, staff, location, comfort, cleanliness. We were greeted warmly, given good advice about restaurants with a written list and map, found everything in rooms in good working order, clean, comfortable. Location had nice views of the bay and pines woods, was convenient to the wildlife preserve, and easy to find.

    5
« Super clean and friendly »

This Best Western may be across from McDonalds, but it is right before the bridge to Assateague Island, the National Refuge, beaches, wild ponies, bike trails, water, and beautiful shore birds. It is a super clean, modern motel with no big frills, but everything one needs. I liked having a deck outside of our second floor room. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast had the basics to get us going in the morning. Coffee was always available. There are lots of little restaurants sighing walking or biking distance. Many people rent or bring bikes. It is a casual "beach town" where one can relax. Even on Memorial Day weekend, it was not overly crowded.

    5
    « Very nice »

This hotel is very nice and is close to everything. The bed was comfortable and the staff was very helpful. And they give you fresh baked cookies when you check in. Very nice touch. I would 100% stay here again.

Great staff, nice room and my room had a great view! I will go there again when I am in town for business, I was also pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. It is kind of crazy that they make me put in 200 letters to submit my review.

« Nice location, Nice hotel, Nice staff »

Right near the Chincoteague and Assateague islands park. Warm and friendly staff and hotel. Bike rental and McDonalds right across, along with many restaurants, gift shops, etc, along the street (Maddox Blvd). Highly recommend "Pico Taqueria" restaurant - excellent (homemade) tacos, very yummy and very healthy!

    « Nice hotel »

Nice hotel, great staff, especially the two ladies that greeted us at check in. Awesome room we had a private balcony that we could sit out and enjoy the beautiful weather that we had memorial weekend. The only downfall with this hotel was we needed to use the elevator because of my handicap and we went up and then had to go outside on the walkway to get to our room.

    « Just Married »

We stay for our honeymoon The hotel was the cleanest we had ever seen. The staff were great from the front desks, the girl cleaning the rooms to the lady serving the breakfast. The one I remember the most was Joan. We said something about just being married so the next morning when they made up the room they left us a surprise. Anna I believe . The room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay Thank You Michael &Joan South

« Great hotel, amazing location! »

Spent 2 nights here on recent USA road trip. Hotel located right at the end of the main strip next to the wildlife refuge. Handy for some great restaurants and plenty if nature. Fantastic view from our balcony including a rocket launch from nearby Wallops Island. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Only one minor gripe ... please Best Western, get proper cutlery for breakfast. .. plastic stuff is hopeless and an enormous waste! If you visit in summer ... bring mosquito repellant!

« Wonderful place to stay »

Excellent place to stay for a quick getaway or a family vacation. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is a great location. We biked around the island and took a dip in the outdoor pool. Would definitely stay here again.

« Great Value and Helpful Staff »

My family and I have stayed on the island multiple times and this by far was the best overnight experience. We are light sleepers and Sandy at the front desk and her supervisor picked out rooms prior to our arrival that they thought would be quiet and they were. Sandy was extremely helpful over the telephone and we had a great nights sleep. Rooms were recently redone, very comfortable. This facility is also in walking distance to the wildlife refuge which is a must-see if you are visiting the island.

    « Wonderful stay »

Great services in all aspect that staff is friendly and helpful. The room is very large and comfort, well setup in the bathroom and overall in the room etc. The location is very good, closed to the national park and restaurants. Overall is great value.

    « special occasion »

We were there to celebrate my birthday, and the staff had two small bottles of champagne and a flower arrangement waiting in our room at check-in. That was such a nice surprise! The service was really above par throughout our stay.

« THE place to stay »

I have been staying at this location since 1980....before it became a BW property. My wife and I have always had a pleasant stay here. It is the closest hotel/motel to the refuge which makes it convenient for biking. The staff knows me well now, and we are treated like family.

    5
« Great customer service, beautiful location »

Arrived after being awake and on the road for over 30 hours, The front desk staff was unbelievably helpful and promptly had me checked in and on my way to my room in about 5 minutes, they could tell I was exhausted and treated me kindly and made me feel extremely welcomed after all the stress of being on the road. Great place and thank goodness for the advertising along Highway 13 or else I would have never known about this gem of a hotel.

« Best is true for this Best Western »

Staff was awesome! So helpful, generous, friendly. Everything clean, neat. Food plentiful and good-a large variety. This hotel is in a well-maintained and clean area of town, right next to the salt marshes. The marsh is beautiful to look at, and the balconies get a great view. Yes, there is a McD restaurant across the street, but the area is all very neat and the marshes claim one's attention.

    5
    « Great staff »

The property is an older motel but has been very well cared for and updated. The interior and grounds are well maintained. We had the greatest room that had all new flooring and was very comfortable. Everything looked fresh and clean. The staff was very responsive to any questions or needs. I went to get something out of our car and going down saw there was coffee spilled in the elevator. I told the front desk. By the time I had returned, which was only a few minutes, the spill had been cleaned up. We had a problem with the refrigerator in our room, within 10 minutes there was someone there to address the issue. The only negative was the small breakfast area which we were told is being addressed. We would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone. It is right on the edge of the marsh with a view of the lighthouse. Bicycles can be rented right across the street. We are not really beach people but enjoyed the horses and birds as well as the nature centers on Assateague. There is an admission fee to the Assategue seashore but ours was covered under our National Park Senior pass. We were there the end of April and the weather was great. Please bring insect repellent as this could be an issue in the area.

Right on the beach. Room had a beautiful view of the ocean. Building a little dated, but rooms clean and comfortable. Check in desk was mobbed when arrived. Would prefer to have a place to walk to for dinner, but would stay again.

« Great location by the wildlife refuge »

Our stay was very comfortable and so nicely located. Literally right next to the wildlife refuge entrance and with a bike rental place in front across the street. This made it a super convenient hotel. It was very clean and the beds super comfy. And I have serious back and neck issues! Breakfast was great with a lot of good choices. Nice to have coffee and tea in the lobby as well as plenty of local information, history, maps and even a nice restaurant list according to type of food, pricing etc. The refuge is amazing and we would have loved to stay longer. We went for ice cream at the famous Island Creamery...wow so delicious. Homemade ice cream with super unique flavors.

    « Extremely helpful staff »

This was our first time staying at this hotel and it was very nice. The front desk staff, particularly Krista, were very nice and extremely helpful. The pool had just opened and the person cleaning it took time out to get chairs for us, clean them and set them up. The front desk staff helped us find vegan restaurants in the area and checked in with us to see how we liked them. Genuinely friendly people were throughout the hotel and made us feel very welcome!

« Nice room, lack on soundproofing from above »

The room was spacious, with cookies to greet us at check-in, super friendly staff, in room Keurig coffee maker, and 24/7 coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby. Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise from upstairs, and I really think they were just an average family being a family. The beds were comfy, and our 1st floor room had a nice sitting area outside that we used every morning. The breakfast was fine, with the signature BW make your own waffles; unfortunately, the breakfast is not even close to big enough to accommodate the a.m. diners, so seating every morning was at a premium.

    « Good place in a Storm! »

We stayed here in Oct 16. We arrived in the midst if a storm; the hotel was easy to find and the staff helpful. It was a pity that they only serve breakfast - very few restaurants were open and we had an ' interesting drive' through flood water to find anywhere fir dinner. Hotel room was comfortable ( and dry) and kept out the enormous, voracious Mosquitos. Breakfast Is served and was ok - just. This is probably an idyllic spot in the summer.

    « Chincoteague Best »

This is a comfortable, convenient place to stay, especially if you are there for the beach, crabbing, walking, nature, bicycling, fishing. Everything you need is nearby, from bicycles to T-shirts to bait to restaurants.

    « Great location »

Our family recently enjoyed two nights here. The accommodations were perfect for our family. We loved having a small balcony. Location is ideal for those spending time in Assateague. Only complaint was the size of the breakfast area. Both mornings it was very crowded and we had to wait to get a table (during the off season!). It was very tight trying to get your breakfast and maneuver around the tables and people. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will be back!

    5
« Best Location on the Island with great atmosphere and service. »

Definitely the BEST Best Western we have been to. From first contact for reservation to departing everything felt warm and comfortable. Room design was very inviting, spacious and great view of Assateague and the lighthouse. Breakfast was very good and varied everyday. Cleanliness was amazing. Leave the hotel in the morning and turn left there is the bridge to the National Park and Assateague. Next door is the Chincoteague museum.

    « Didn't get off to a good start »

Our stay didn't get off to a very good start. We had already paid for our 2 night stay before checking in. Once in our room for a while my wife discovered that our credit card had been charged again. We went out for the evening and when we returned we realized that the heat didn't work in our room. Fortunately the front desk was able to move us to another room. The manager wrote my wife a nice email apologizing for our inconveniences and gave us a certificate for a 1 night complementary stay. The hotel is very close to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and the Assateague Lighhouse. Both my wife and I enjoyed the breakfast, only problem was finding a place to sit. Looking forward to going back.

« We Keep Coming Back »

The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay one that when it is over you are saying "We will be back" Cleanliness of hotel, Continental Breakfast and the entire staff are A+! Only minutes from Assateague Island. Sitting on your balcony at night, you can see the lighthouse. Very quiet hotel.

« Great price and friendly staff »

We stayed here for the weekend with an 11 year old and a 13 year old. Room was big and clean on the poolside and a view of the lighthouse. The pool was closed for the season, but we weren't worried about that. Right next to the museum and walking distance to Assateague. Plenty of restaurants to eat at and lots of activities. We had a blast!

Chincoteague,a fishing village that became famous for it`s wild ponies and beautiful beach. It is a resort for middle income families that enjoy salt water ocean waves, biking, boating, hiking, lighthouse climbing,a space museum and very good food. It is located 2 hours north of the south end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and 2and 1/2 hours south of the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

« Great location for easy access to Refuge! »

My husband and I chose this hotel because of its perfect location right outside the entrance to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge -- a short hop over the bridge. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful landscaping as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful and had us checked in quickly and efficiently. Our room was a king on the second floor with a balcony that overlooked the front entrance roof, but the marshes across the street were still visible. We lucked out with beautiful warm weather for our stay, but unfortunately had a problem with the air conditioner that resulted in a very wet rug/floor in that area of the room on the second night. However, after calling the desk about the problem, they quickly located another room for us -- no more balcony, but clean and pleasant. Packing and moving at 10:00 pm wasn't ideal, but our problem was addressed immediately. Overall, the hotel was clean and a good deal for the price. The included breakfast was pretty typical of hotels in this category -- some fruit, juice, toast, yogurt, a waffle-maker, etc. It ended at 9:00 am each morning. One more plus for the location of this hotel is that there is a bike rental business right across the street -- absolutely a perfect way to see the refuge! (But bring the bug spray in warm weather -- mosquito heaven!)

« Great lodging at a great price »

This is a highly recommended location for families. Very clean and great service! It is conveniently located to the beach and town. This was a 9 year old birthday celebration weekend and the staff left a b'day balloon and salt water taffies for the birthday girl. It made her weekend!

« Gracious Staff, Lovely Stay »

Went to Chincoteague for our anniversary as we never had been there before Wife must have mentioned at booking that it was for a special anniversary occasion and when we got to the BW, the lady at the desk said our room was ready even though we arrived early. So went up to room on 3rd Floor, and it was large and lovely. Didn't realize until about 20 minutes later that there was a small flower vase on table, two plastic wine glasses, along with an ice bucket, and 2 splits of champagne in the bucket. On top of that a small bowl of local candy was on the table. We were IMPRESSED!. Such a nice gesture by the staff for a couple of old geezers really made our day. Went down to the desk told the lady (wish I could remember her name) that we were extremely pleased at this unexpected treat. The room was fine, clean, big, had an ocean view. When we asked the desk clerk for a suggestion as to dining, she gave us one of the local restaurants and booked a reservation for us. The restaurant was upscale and so nice for an anniversary dinner. Have to say, the Best Western staff went out of their way on this for us and we shall never forget it.. We had used BW this past summer on vacation 4 times and each time we were not disappointed. If you are down in Chincoteague book a room here, you will enjoy it

« Great hotel and watch your speed in town »

The hotel is fantastic. Staff is accommodating, friendly and ready to attend to your needs. The breakfast is fantastic and is what you would expect in a full service restaurant. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. keep to the 25 mph speed limit throughout the town. On Maddox Boulevard there is one sign at the end of the respective bridges entering the island and returning from the national wildlife area. It is not posted any place else on this road and it is heavily patrolled.

    « The best! »

We have gone to many Best Westerns, but this is by far the best. Located next to the national park, it offers wonderful views. Our room faced the pool bordered by flowering plants (in October) and each morning we were dazzled by the sun coming up through the trees. The room even provided us with first class viewing of a rocket launch that sent supplies to the space station. The rooms are large, clean and have refrigerators, plus the staff are happy and efficient- making us want to go back again.

« A Quiet and Comfortable Place to stay »

It is always quiet and peaceful to stay at this location, even in the summer time when it's the busiest. Closet to Assateague Island and allows for bike riding to be a very easy amusement. Whether business or pleasure it is always nice to stay at a location that is very convenient and quiet. Three restaurants are located with in walking distance, less than 500 yards with two of them being the next property over or across the street. The pool is also very nice and allows for a very relaxing place to be able to unwind. The rooms are always clean and kept in good repair. Breakfast is almost always available before the posted 6 AM which is really nice when conducting business that is very early in the morning. I personally ate at 5:30 AM one morning at it was already available. This is the primary place that I choose to stay when on business or pleasure at Chincoteague.

« Closest to the Refuge »

We love staying at this hotel. The breakfast is always delicious! The rooms are comfortable and ours had a great view of the lighthouse! The staff always welcomes us wonderfully!! We love being right next to the refuge! We celebrate our anniversary here, often.

    « Mini getaway »

We decided to visit the island and chose the Best Western based on a coupon and the location. Previous reviews showed a high percentage of favorable reviews. Upon arrival, we were met with a friendly staff and a clean lobby. The room was very clean and larger than some other comparable locations. The entire facility was very well maintained and all of the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. This is an older hotel but it is easy to see the owner and employees really take pride with the property. If you are looking for an expensive, modern, spa style hotel, this is not it. This was perfect for a quiet, relaxing, family getaway to enjoy the island. Thanks!

« Great stay in quiet location »

This is one of the nicer Best Westerns I have ever stayed in. Very pleasant setting very close to Assateague Island. Room 117 was a great location near the pool but had an unobstructed view. The room is large and well decorated. Really like the sink in the bathroom and another vanity outside the bathroom. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly

    5
« Enjoyable first visit to Chincoteague »

I have stayed at other Best Westerns, but this hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They gave me great advice about where to go to view a rocket launch (right adjacent to the hotel). They also recommended restaurants that were exactly what I was looking for. The room was clean and furnished nicely. The location is great-it is the last hotel before the wildlife refuge.

« Long Weekend at Chincoteague »

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. It is in a quiet, safe, beautiful location on the edge of town, directly across the bridge from the reserve at Assateague. Our room was very clean, the staff extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely stay there again!

    5
    « Highly recommended! »

The staff was excellent, courteous, caring and informative. This was the best experience at a BW we have had. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel was clean. The breakfast was hot and the staff kept it filled. We had a wonderful view from the balcony to see the light house and the rocket launch.

    « BW Chincoteague Island »

Very clean and spacious rooms. Only downside was that the room did not have a desk for doing business work on but it did have a small table for my laptop. Exterior of the hotel had very nice landscaping. Staff was very nice.

I love BW, you always know what you get. I am making this longer because they do not sallow short reviews which irks me. This is the thing I hat eabout reviews. I have to ramble on and on, because no one can say in a word or two that it was grerat

    « Nice hotel »

Nice hotel right before the bridge to Assateague. They gave us cookies on arrival which my kids inhaled after our 3 1/2 drive. Clean. No weird odors. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was the usual continental fare. Bike rentals across the street to ride over to Assateague which the kids loved. Will come back here again!

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

I have been coming to Chincoteague Island for over 15 years, yet had never stayed here. Boyfriend and I booked a last minute weekend trip June 2016 and this was one of the last accommodations available. I was a little wary of staying here, as the outside is non-descript and other Best Western stays have been less than comfortable. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by my stay here. Front desk staff was very nice, and we received a chocolate chip cookie at check-in (yum). The room was very clean, and more modern than anticipated. I appreciated the in-room fridge to store our leftovers and our room had a nice balcony overlooking Maddox, from which we could see the lighthouse. Definitely plan to come back :) Thanks again to the front desk and behind the scenes staff for a wonderful stay!

« Spur of the Moment side Trip »

After visiting Asstateague Island we decided last minute to visit Chincoteague as well to see the horses. Right outside the park was a Best Western so we decided to stay the night there, it was a great decision. Clerk was friendly and helpful, recommending a fantastic place to eat in which we had a great meal. Rooms were big, clean and had everything you would need, prices were excellant being so close to the park. The pool looked amazing as well, wish we would of brought our suits. I would highly recommend!

The entire staff treats you like you like you are a VIP. The rooms are cleans and fresh. The breakfast is very good. Our entire stay was great. Cant wait to go back again around New Years. We enjoy it down there so much. Its like we are treated like family.

    « Best-Best Western Experience »

Needed a room to spend the night after we had to unexpectedly close our vacation home. My wife and I came in late, without a reservation and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The room was clean and we got a great rate.

    « Vacation getaway »

Booked this hotel in early September. Check in was easy and friendly. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The little balcony made for a pleasant place to read, share wine and people watch. The breakfast ( included ) was delicious with many offerings: eggs, sausage, waffles, juices, rolls, toast, cereal etc. fruit and coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available throughout the day. The hotel has a cozy feel but the room was certainly adequate. It included a refrigerator and microwave. It has a great location: just a short drive to the wildlife refuge, across the street from a McDonald's ( should you need it)and next to a nice little diner opened year round.

    5
« Friendly staff, Great Bed & Shower »

Our stay at this hotel was a relief from another nearby hotel that was far more expensive and not nearly as nice. We were put into a room for the disabled and it was very thoughtfully laid out: the shower flow was abundant and easily gaged (hot to cold), and the soap dishes were at a reasonable level. The bed was exceptionally soft & comfortable and the linen felt clean & soft.

Great location, right next to the entrance to the National Wildlife Refuge. Hotel is clean, but a bit dated-looking. The grounds are very well kept and attractive. The staff is great--friendly and helpful.

« Great Location, Friendly Staff, Spacious Rooms »

Recently enjoyed a 3 night stay here. Fantastic, quiet location next to the entrance of Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge & Assateague Island seashore, as well as the Chincoteague Museaum. Rooms are clean and spacious and include either a balcony or private patio. Nice breakfast with a full selection of cereals, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, yogurt, fruit, breads, coffee, and juices. Complimentary high-speed wi-fi, plus many cable stations available for tv surfing. Extremely friendly, helpful staff. Bike rentals available across the street. Small island, so many restaurants & shops within close proximity. Highly recommend! Balcony views of the lighthouse are a special treat! If I ever return to the area, this is where I'd stay again.

    « Very good experience »

Comfortable motel right next to the National Park. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. Nicely appointed room and an adequate breakfast. Plenty of nearby restaurants of all qualities. Would definitely recommend this motel.

« GREAT!! would definitely stay again and again »

The front desk crew is nothing short of Superb; Sandy, Daniel, (NY Lady)!!! The housekeeping/maint. crew were Great; Anna, Maint. Man and housekeeper w/ brownish hair in pony tail :) The room was very clean, the beds good, the grounds were well kept, just can't say enough about the property. We even left some of the baby's books in the room after we checked out, I called the hotel to ask them to be shipped and Sandy was more than compliable. :) The breakfast "bar" was great lots of selection and was open later than advertised.

    5
    « Extremely welcoming »

The hotel itself was comfortable and well kept. The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and quite helpful, probably more than any other hotel I have stayed at. The rooms were quite large and the beds were comfortable. A good TV selection for the most part. The internet was free and pretty reliable overall, although there were times it slowed down or dropped out, but not too often. The breakfast was pretty good, but the same items were presented every day, so it got old if you stayed for more than a few days (a good diner is next door and a McDonalds is across the street). I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. You could walk into the nature reserve from the hotel quite easily, too.

    5
« Great value, great staff, great location »

The staff and owners of this hotel are very friendly and are appreciative of your business. The location is very convenient to the wildlife refuge and is just a very relaxing setting. The rooms are always clean and in the rare occasion that something is not working, the staff is quick to resolve.

    « Relaxing Trip! »

I can't say enough about how ecstatic our stay was here. There wasn't one complaint that my husband and I could come up with. Staff was extremely friendly, eager to help, and easy to talk too. The staff was so friendly towards our 2 kids, which we greatly appreciate it!! I've been coming to the island for 15 years, this was my first time staying with this hotel, and I have to say I will be back here again!!

« Nice hotel near the Refuge »

I stayed here in Sept 2016 in room 232. Nice hotel and convenient to the Refuge. My room had a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and small fridge. TV had lots of cable channels, including MASN and MASN2, so you can continue to watch your Nationals and Orioles games. Closet was pretty small - good for one person or maybe two. Breakfast is included, although dining area is a little small. But there are tables on a nice covered patio out front. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, and make your own waffles. Also, several types of cereal, including a gluten free choice, toast, bagels, danishes, yogurt, and juice. Coffee and hot water was available 24-7 with tea bags and cocoa mix. Front desk staff was very friendly. Elevator was tiny. Wi-fi is available in rooms but very weak. Free passes for the Refuge and Assateague were available near the front desk. Within walking distance of the Refuge.

    « Excellent Stay »

The staff was very friendly. Everyone had a smile on their face and greeted you. Breakfast was good. When I expressed my concern about my room, the manager immediately responded and moved me. It's close to the Wildlife Refuge and beach. It's convenient to just about everything.

« One of the best Hotels we have stayed at in recent years! »

We spent three nights at this Hotel in mid September of 2016. It was by far one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The staff was outstanding and the property was immaculate. The room was lovely and the Breakfast was one of the best we have encountered. They had a very nice, well maintained pool and provided us with all sorts of information about the Island and local attractions. The restaurants they suggested were all very good and made eating out in a new location very easy. During our stay the tub was draining slowly and before we could report it, it was fixed! Kudos to the staff!

    « A Must Stay »

Best Location on the Island. Views are beautiful, right there at the entrance to Assateague Island, plus a great view of the lighthouse. The staff is the best , good food choices, rooms are clean and comfortable , we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

« Super place to stay »

Been staying at this location for approximately 35 years, prior to it becoming a BW property. Great location, great staff, great hotel. No need to go elsewhere on the Island. Will be back in October for another vacation trip

    « Great Hotel »

The rooms were clean. The staff accomidated all of our needs. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. There were 3 couples on our trip to attend Delmarva Bike Week. When we arrived, the staff made sure we had cleaning rags for us to use to clean the Harleys. We ahd a kickstand issue with one of the bikes and the maintenance man dropped what he was doing and provided a small 2X4 to assist with the problem. Great staff, breakfast was good. The beds were great.

    5
    « Family Friendly »

Absolutely best hotel! The room was spacious and beds were comfy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The maid even left a beach ball with a note our room for my baby grandson to have for the pool/beach. We have traveled many places but this is hands down the perfect family place to stay!

« Return visit to a favorite hotel. »

This property is just as you enter the Nat' Seashore, so no traffic after the park closes. This is very quiet. The property is very nice and especially clean and well kept. The pool area rates with one of the nicer pools, and beautifully landscaped. The staff are warm and friendly.

    « Not a 5-star hotel, but a 5-star stay »

This is an older hotel but very clean and very well kept. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable! Two sinks, one ouside the bathroom and one inside, was a convenient touch. Even though we were right on the main road into the wildlife sanctuary our room was quiet. The staff were all extremely helpful, pleasant, and patient with all of our quesitons. The complimentary hot breakfast was very good even though the dining area is much too small. Next time we will eat outside next to the pool or on the front patio next to the fountain. Coffee, tea and lemonade was available in the lobby all day long. Bicycles are available for rent right across the street and there are ponies you can see in a paddock there too. Room selection tip: All rooms face the street. Next time I will request the east end of the building. The east rooms overlook the pool and you might be able to see the lighthouse. Our west building room overlooked the parking lot and we could not see the lighthouse due to a tree. We could see the ponies though! Sadly our vacation was cut short from 3 days down to 2 due to tropical storm Hermine, we we will definitely return next year!

This was our 7th year of vactions at the Chincoteague Best Western. The location is perfect for trips to the beach, and the pool area is so beautifully landscaped that time spent there is relaxing and tranquil. Rooms are comfortable and clean with good patio view of the island.

    « Great Stay - Great Value »

This hotel provided one of the best dollar values of any vacation we had in our 33 years of marriage. The beautiful clean room was still large enough to add an extra bed and be more than comfortable; we were 5. It is a great beach location with a pool for afternoon relaxation. The staff were second to none, always smiling, friendly and helpful. Great location for restaurants, kids activities, shopping and churches.

The experience at this hotel was exceptional from check-in to check-out. Entire staff was helpful! We had requested an early check-in and they were able to accommodate us. « Comfortable »

The hotel was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great. The breakfast was very good, however the room was way too small, even hard to move around to get to food. You could take food outside, but that depended on the weather (and bugs). The price seemed a little high.

« Very nice stay with very nice people »

Arrived prior to check in at 3 but the front desk said they would try to get us into the room earlier; took my cell # and called when the room was ready (1 hr earlier than check in time). Very friendly staff from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. My wife got puckish later in the evening and went downstairs in search of something to munch on. The nice gentleman setting up for the next day's breakfast gave her 2 blueberry muffins which she said were very good. Just nice, accommodating people who seem to really care about their guests.

    « what a wonderful surprise...we can't wait to go back »

It was our 1st time coming to Chincoteague Island and we had no idea where to stay or what to expect. We knew we wanted to see a rocket launch and this was one of the hotel's that you were supposed to be able to do that from and it was closest to Assateague so we called and spoke with a very nice lady and took a chance and booked it. The Hotel exceeded my expectations. Sure enough you can view rocket launches from Wallop's Island without ever having to leave the hotel's grounds. The hotel is small but absolutely lovely. The grounds are beautiful as is the pool area and the gazebo where we drank our morning coffee and watched the rocket launch. The free breakfast is one of the best that I have ever had....it literally had everything....I was blown away by the variety of food. The coffee and tea area was perfect as well. They had inside tables as well as outside tables which was an especially nice area with ceiling fans and a bubbling fountain. The hotel sits on the main rd but it is very quiet. Our room faced the main rd and we never heard a sound. The main rd is a small two way road with very little traffic even in the middle of August. Across the street is a McDonald's but who needs that when you can get your outstanding complimentary breakfast right at the hotel and it's much better than McDonald's. There is also a place that rents bikes and such for the beach if you prefer to go to the beach that way instead of driving your car. The other option, and I think we will do this next time, is to bring your own bikes as we saw at least two bike racks in the front where you can store your own bikes. Our room was huge...it contained two full sized beds, a microwave, a med sized refrigerator, a keurig coffee maker, two full sized dressers, one with a large mirror, a large flat screen tv, a closet with floor length mirrors as doors, a small table with two chairs, a balcony that over looked the pool, an ironing board and iron that was conveniently camouflaged by a mirror that was attached to the wall. There is a guest laundry facility and a fitness room as well. The front desk personnel were all very friendly and helpful and next door is the Chincoteague Museum. Additionally we received two "Welcome" cookies upon check-in. For what we paid this place is a steal and did I mention that it's the hotel closest to Assateague Island. The room was ready and clean upon check-in. The other plus in my opinion is that there are two sinks...one inside the bathroom which also houses the tub and toilet and then there is a vanity sink directly outside the bathroom. Even though we were on the 3rd floor we had plenty of hot water and water pressure. The decor of the room was pretty modern and appeared to have been recently updated. Loved the wall art and the wooden wall had that beachy/nautical feel to it which was very nice. Obviously I can't say enough good things about this hotel and we are looking forward to going back for a longer stay.

« An Enjoyable Stay At The Best Western Plus on Chincoteague Island »

My husband, two of our granddaughters(ages 8 & 12) and I spent six days at the Best Western Motel on Chincoteague Island this August and would strongly recommend it to families who want to vacation there. We had two adjoining rooms that were large, clean and with very comfortable beds. I liked that there was a table with two chairs in each room as well as a good size bureau with drawers and another stand for the TV. The breakfast offered with the rooms had a good variety of foods for us and the children. The pool was conveniently located to the rooms and a good length and depth for the young girls. All the staff persons I met were friendly and helpful. All four of us we're glad we stayed there.

« Best hotel staff on Chincoteague »

We have been coming to Chincoteague since the early 1970's and stayed in many hotels, b and b's, and rental houses. We started staying at the Best Western about 7 years ago and highly recommend this facility. The location is closest to the nature preserve and beach. The rooms are clean and comfy. Summer rates are higher than the other hotels that are further away from the beach, but this hotel is worth the money. The staff is friendly and attuned to everything a guest may need. I highly recommend this hotel.

« Clean, friendly, and in a great location! »

I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for families, because everyone on the staff was genuinely friendly and tolerant of our children's noise and commotion. The location is fabulous, right next to the Assateague causeway so that it would be easy and safe to bike from the hotel directly onto Assateague and leave the car behind. The hotel was very clean and offered more in-room amenities than most: for example, they supplied 4 hotel-size bottles of skin lotion and after our first day at the beach we were all sunburned and found we needed that much lotion and had it on hand. There is a fairly large refrigerator and microwave in the room, and a Keurig coffeemaker. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool. Free breakfast is good and offers variety, including a gluten-free cereal option which we needed. Want to emphasize again that the staff members are genuinely friendly and helpful, no stuffiness at all about this place in spite of the high quality of the service they offer.

    « Wonderful Experience »

This was our first trip to Chincoteague. It was wonderful. A good portion of that was due to our stay at the Best Western. Accommodations were super. The hotel employees were the best! They were always so helpful in guiding us to restaurants and the different activities on the island. If we are able to return, I would most definitely stay there again!

« Good Place to Stay »

We stayed one night in room 242. Check in was relatively quick and the clerk friendly and helpful. The total for our stay was about $220. The room was large and comfortable with a very slight view of the wildlife refuge. We had a semi private balcony too. Breakfast the next morning was of the typical hotel variety. I've discovered most of these hotels don't have a varied selection - mostly microwaved fake scrambled eggs, a meat (mostly sausage), gravy and biscuits and cereals. Even though our room faced the street, we didn't hear much noise from it at night. The hotel is just steps away from the wildlife refuge. I would definitely stay here again.

As a birthday present to our twin granddaughters, we took them on a short visit to Chincoteague and Assateague, and booked adjoining rooms at this hotel. We arrived well before check-in, and the front desk staff were wonderfully helpful answering our many questions about restaurants, sights, and activities, and providing towels so we could leave our luggage, change at the hotel, and head to the beach. Our granddaughters could not have been more delighted when they entered their room after our afternoon at the beach, and discovered two birthday-themed helium balloons, a dish of salt water taffy, and a pair of adorable pony-maned rubber duckies on their bathtub. In their spacious and well appointed room, they felt like princesses (and we enjoyed ours too, as well as the peace of mind that comes from being a connecting door away from two eight-year olds). The next morning, after breakfast, we checked out before heading off for a boat trip along the island shoreline. The staff member at the desk handed me crayons and coloring books for the girls at that time. Again, we were graciously provided with towels which we promised to return after our excursion. In fact, we wound up holding onto them through much of the afternoon, during which we returned to the beach and then back to the hotel to change for the ride home. In the parking lot, Sandy (to whom a special "shout out" is due) gave each of the girls an adorable pony-shaped box. This was the second year of what we hope will become a tradition--and that is having a grandparent-grandchild adventure for the girls' birthday. These memories will last longer than any material gift--and the Best Western Plus added in so many ways to the memories they'll have of Chincoteague.

Everything about this hotel was very good except the people we had in the room above us VERY LOUD.Very clean rooms plenty of parking and they have a place to charge you golf carts. Staff is very friendly. We didn't eat at the hotel but the breakfast look to be of very good quality because it was packed with people every morning.

Chincoteague is the best! How can you top the combination of beach and wild ponies? This hotel is as close to the beach as you can get. Beds were big and comfy, breakfast was hot and substantial. Loved the fresh fruit in the lobby! We had a great time.

Located with a direct view of the Assateague light house and overlooking the salt marshes, the best western was a very pleasant surprise! the staff was fabulous! everyone was pleasant , genuine and helpful! The rooms were very large and spotlessly clean ! the housekeeping ladies were the best . the bathrooms were large and appeared to be very new. the beds were the most comfortable i have encountered in a long time ( i travel ALOT) the pool was very well kept and the landscaping showed pride . we usually stay in another hotel, but this time we tried the best western ....we be coming back here from now on. the location is awesome, no noise or trafiic , and right down the street from the beaches . overall we couldnt be happier with our stay here

The whole experience was wonderful. They treated the kids to cookies as we checked-in , the room was great and the staff were fantastic. Thank you Sandy, Brenda and all the other staff who made our stay enjoyable.

« Excellent Place to Stay »

This is an excellent hotel on Chincoteague. The staff are some of the nicest I've encountered. Every time we come in or leave, they are asking if we need anything. They called a few minutes after we checked in to see if the room was OK and to see if we needed any more towels. The room was extremely clean and rather large. Two queen, a chair and a table with plenty of walk around room. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

« Friendly, clean and prefect location! »

We stayed here on our way down to Corolla. Thought we'd take a few days and see the wild horses. It was our first trip so I was flying blind...didn't understand the island layout. I will say this, Best Western Plus is in the perfect location! The staff is friendly and helpful...breakfast is yummy and FREE...chocolate chips cookies when you check in...clean room...everything was perfect! We will be back!

    « Great place! »

We stayed the night here after an impromptu one night getaway. The bed was very comfy and the room was very clean, but we were on the first floor and whenever the people above us walked around there was a loud creaking noise in our room. Unfortunately they were up and down all night long and I didn't get much sleep. I told the front desk about it when we were checking out and they said they would've moved us if l had let them know, but I wasn't going to pack everything up in the middle of the night and move, other than that, it was great and id definitely stay there again!

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western, Chincoteague Island. The suite was comfortable and clean with a beautiful view of the Wildlife Refuge. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - service was excellent! We loved the pool, with its gorgeous landscaping and the hot breakfast was a real treat each morning.

« The Best Western Plus on Chincoteague Island is the Best Place to Stay! »

This hotel is a well maintained property with beautiful landscaping! The lobby, hallways, and rooms are clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated to reflect island decor. Towels looked new and thick. The location is the closest you can get to Assateague Island and our poolside balcony room also provided a beautiful view of Assateague Island and the lighthouse at night. Everyone was friendly and helpful! Housekeeping does a wonderful job providing a fresh, clean room every day. This is a wonderful place to stay!

My family loved this hotel--great location, great amenities, very comfortable beds. We slept extremely well. We enjoyed having breakfast outside too. We would use this hotel again the next time we come to the Eastern shore of Maryland.

    « great hotel »

we spent 5 night at this hotel and feel were very pleased. if you are planning to spend a lot of the at the refuge this is the spot. could walk to it if you wanted to. front desk warned we might be eaten alive by bugs though. bike ride would be perfect. the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. breakfast fine- eggs, bacon, waffles, etc. nothing fancy, but for us just what we needed. pool area very nice. rooms spacious and clean. only complaint was we could hear the people above us walking sometimes. didn't keep us awake though.

    « Great location »

The hotel is the closest to the National Park, and was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and it was very clean and quiet. The breakfast was pretty typical, but everything was fresh and tasted very good. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. Typically I do not stay at Best Western, but I would reconsider that decision based on this experience.

    « Pleasant stay »

The front desk staff was very friendly. The room seemed clean, excluding the pillow cases on one bed which seemed to have someone elses hair on them. I swapped them with the other beds pillow cases but that bothered me. Other than that i enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning. It was better than most complimentary breakfasts ive had. I would come back here again if in the area.

    « Wonderful July 4th weekend »

My family stayed for 4 nights over the July 4th weekend, in room 232. Although the hotel is located right across the street from McDonald's, we had a lovely view of the pool, lighthouse and island. The owner has done a phenomenal job with the landscaping--it's like a little tropical oasis. The room was perfectly adequate for my family of 4. Very comfortable, and having a fridge and microwave in the room certainly provided useful for keeping Gatorade (and adult beverages) cold, heating leftovers and popcorn, etc. Nice Keurig coffee maker in the room, too. The water fountain in the fitness room was ideal for filling water bottles before our bike rides. There are also charcoal grills out back for preparing your own meals, and bike racks for locking up your own bikes. The breakfast served every morning was more than adequate, and offered a variety for everyone. The staff was exceptional, especially Beth! She would greet me by name every day, and was so helpful providing recommendations and such. They really have an outstanding staff! Besides the wonderful staff, I think my favorite thing about this Best Western is the location. You're not far from anything, and you don't have to deal with the traffic getting onto the island...especially if you bring your bike. The trolley has a stop in front of the hotel, and you're within walking or biking distance from a number of shops and eateries. A wonderful stay, and we're already booked for next year!

« Fabulous Stay in Chincoteague »

Wonderful hotel. Feels more like a B&B. Great breakfast, close to refuge, short drive to restaurants, bike rental across the street. Would definatly come back. We were here with our children, the hotel was accommodating and the staff was friendly. Washer and dryer located on floor 2, very handy.

We spent a long weekend here for the third year in a row. We love it here, clean comfortable and friendly. It has a good breakfast buffet and a beautiful view of the lighthouse. This is a yearly tradition we are happy to continue.

« The room attendant/house keeper was very nice and made me smile. »

The room was awesome... The beds were nice and warm and had many layers for the summer, in case you wanted one layer, but not the next. I liked how the table was not too big so that is crowded the room but was big enough to sit on and enjoy food on. I really liked the deck too. It gave me a place to dry out my swimsuit! The location was perfect for my family and I. We are a big fan of horses and riding bikes, and there was a bike depot and stable place type thing walking distance from our room. So close we could see it out our window! The nature refuge was walking distance too. That was very fun. I also liked the food. There was a variety, too! Not just the same thing every day. I really liked how there was a non smoking rule, too. We also had an awesome room attendant/house keeper, a cool breakfast attendant, and front desk person. Stephanie, our room attendant gave us sweet notes and provided us with everything we needed. We stayed in room 355. It was an awesome stay all in all.

    « Best Western Chincoteague »

I would give a Very Good except for 2 things (listed below). The hotel was very conveniently located near restaurants, attractions and the national wildlife refuge, The staff was all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also better than most; they had hot eggs and biscuits and waffles with toppings. Our only complaints were the high speed Internet didn't work at all for us, and one of our party had a cold shower. When we inquired about it, it was promptly fixed because the next person had a hot shower. The staff gave us points on our BW rewards for the inconvenience which was nice.

« Great visit to the islands »

My three sisters and I stayed three nights here, it was wonderful. We liked the breakfasts, hot and cold food, lots of fruit. The location was perfect, next to the museum and entrance to the National Seashore. Each room has a cute little balcony we used for happy hour, overlooking the pool.

    « Best Ever »

The Best Western Plus exceeded all my expectations of a clean, great, family friendly hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. My granddaughter was given a new pair of swim goggles when she lost hers. The children received delicious cookies upon our arrival. These are some of the small things that add up to a great stay for everyone. We will definitely be back!

This was our first time to Chincoteague Island, and our stay here was great! Location is perfect, and a very clean hotel. It's a short drive or bike ride to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Make sure to check out the numerous trails and the beautiful beach! We would stay here again.

« Fun Time in Chincoteague »

This Best Western was picked for us by Road Scholar. I would definitely recommend this hotel again for the group. All the staff were friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and roomy. They had refrigerators and microwaves. The children really enjoyed the pool. The stay did include breakfast. There was a variety of items, however the eggs were not very tasty.

    « Most comfortable hotel »

We're back on the island again & enjoying the happiest facility on Chincoteague. The staff here is amazing. They are always smiling & greet you as soon as you walk in. I'm puzzled why this isn't listed as a 5 star Hotel yet... we've stayed in several other hotels on the island & this is definitely the nicest, most updated, cleanest, & luxurious. If you stay here, you won't regret it. The only drawback is the parking. There's just not as many spots as there are rooms. The spaces are super tight & most people purposely park to take up 2 spaces. It's SOOO worth it though! Come here. Relax. Let them pamper you & really feel your vacation!

« Great hotel with a great staff »

My husband and I stayed here last year during an impromptu trip to the island after the Independence Day holiday. We loved it so much that it was a no brainer to book a long weekend here earlier this month. Both times we stayed in one of the larger king rooms. The room was clean and well appointed (though the bathroom is badly in need of updating) and the bed extremely comfortable. My husband remembered that there was a single serve k-cup machine in the room so we brought his favorite coffee with us. Breakfast is a typical hotel breakfast; not bad but nothing special. It's right across the street from McDonald's but if I turned my chair slightly when on the balcony, I had a wonderful view of the channel and lighthouse and could almost forget that the restaurant was there. The front desk staff here is excellent. Everyone is extremely friendly and one of ladies, whom we remembered from last year, actually remembered us, too. If we're not staying for a week and booking a house, this is now our go to place to stay. (Full disclosure: my husband is a Best Western Rewards member who had enough points to get a discounted stay. Even if he hadn't, we still would have stayed here.)

« Your best vacation EVER! »

You can't go wrong with the BW + on Chincoteague Island! The staff, the grounds, the pool, the breakfast!!!! You won't be dissappointed. The location is perfect with a beautiful view of Assateague Island and the lighthouse. Makes it easy to go for a stroll over the bridge or rent bikes across the street and head out to explore the island. I truly believe this is one of the best places to stay EVER!

« Family weekend at a great hotel »

This hotel is the closest one to Assateague National Seashore. You can easily see the light house from our balcony and quickly ride a bike to the trails where you can see the wild ponies of Chincoteague. We rented 3 rooms: an oversized King; a two queen; and a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite. The large suite easily accommodate a family of six. All rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and Keurigs (a nice touch). The place is immaculately clean and the hotel staff is extremely friendly. The included breakfast was adequate but the breakfast area is very small so it's hard to move around, especially with little kids. Seating outdoors is lovely, though. I would absolutely stay here again. Very, very nice!

    « Weekend get away »

« Best motel on Chincotegue »

We have been staying here for years and it never disappoints. The breakfast is great...coffee and lemonade all day long...perfect access spot for bike riding and the beach. All the staff are wonderful. Even though its on the main road...its quiet at night and the view from the balcony of the lighthouse is amazing.

« Good place to stay »

We enjoyed the fact that it was so close to the Wildlife Refuge. It was on the main street so we had easy access to everything. Front desk knew how to direct us to various places and restaurants. Room was well maintained. I think there is good management there.

    « good times »

Everything at Best Western, Chincoteague Island is excellent but the very best part of the stay is all the wonderful employees who are with you to help you even before they are needed. The location, the rooms and the breakfast are all outstanding. One the nicest places I have ever stayed>

« My Stay on Chincoteague Island »

This hotel was perfect for my needs. The elevator was a big help to me due to a recent surgery. The breakfast was excellent and eliminated my need for lunch throughout my stay. The area was quiet which made it easy to sleep; the staff was helpful with all of my requests. The only improvement I would suggest is with the appearance of the bedspreads; this would not deter me from returning.

« Great Place to Stay »

Best Western in Chincoteague is a nice, clean motel, close to the refuge as well as restaurants and shops. It is a great place to stay, relaxing and quiet. There is an outside pool, breakfast and all the amenities that make for a pleasant stay. Great views from the balconies especially at sunset.

    5
« Best Hotel of our Trip »

We took a trip out to the east coast and back staying at number of places along the way and this way by and far the best place we stayed at. The staff both at the front desk and the maids were very friendly. The place was clean and had a nice pool on the outside we partook of several times with our young child. Another big plus is it was the closest hotel to the the refuge which we visited ever day. In fact you could see the park from the hotel itself along with the light house. The only things we could have wished for was a slightly bigger breakfast area and items (not much different than other hotels of this caliber) as well as a jacuzzi. But hey you can't have everything where would you put it. In short this was a very nice hotel with a pleasant spirit and I would gladly stay there again on subsequent visits.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

This hotel is probably the best I've stayed in. The customer service is top notch...the rooms and hotel are very clean. You even get name brand toiletries (Pantene) and not the cheap brands. Great location and we felt very comfortable during our stay. I recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Chincoteague Island.

« Very Friendly Staff and Nice Accommodations! »

My husband and I did a 7 day bicycle trip and the Best Western Plus in Chincoteague was the first stop on our tour. We stayed for two nights. The hotel was so nice to let us take our bikes in our room since we had all our gear on them and they had rooms on the ground level so we didn't have to take them on the elevator. The room was large and very clean with a microwave and a refrigerator. The location was so close to the wildlife refuge and Tom's Cove and a beach that you can only get to by walking or bicycling. The staff was excellent! Sandi helped me make the reservation by phone and was there to check us in and she was fantastic! She even called once we got to our room to make sure we were happy with it and to see if we had any questions. Breakfast was wonderful and overall the experience was fabulous. We will definitely stay here again.

    « Best Best Western!! »

They really outdone themselves with this hotel. It was as if they thought of every little thing to make their guests happy. Our room was comfortable and spacious with a homelike feel. It was lovely waking up to a lighthouse just outside your window. From name brand toiletries to a Kurieg coffee maker, I enjoyed these little extras. Breakfast was also very good. I also noticed the breakfast attendant filling up the hot food until the very end, not taking it away like other hotels. The desk staff was very knowledgeable about the area, and they let us know about local areas to sightsee and dine.

« Best Western on Chincoteague Island, VA »

Excellent location - right next to bridge over to Assateague Island. Excellent staff - Very friendly and accommodating. Excellent rooms - clean, nice decor, firm beds. Hot breakfast included with room. My only recommendation: offer stronger better tasting coffee.

    « Excellent experience »

We've stayed at most of the hotels on the island. Of all of them, the Best Western is the best value and has a fantastic location just prior to the bridge to Assateague. Friendly staff, clean rooms and great amenities. This is our go-to hotel for staying in Chincoteague.

    « Well done »

Needed a weekend away from the city and booked at the Best Western. The staff went above and beyond and made our stay truly exceptional. We were celebrating a birthday, and I mentioned this in casual conversation while seeking a restaurant recommendation. After returning from the beach we were greeted with champagne and flowers in our room. The room was clean, nothing too special but just what we needed. Breakfast was simple, not great, but all we needed before biking to the beach. Location is perfect, right near the bridge to Assateague and directly across from a bike rental shop. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and we are already planning our next visit!

    « Enchanting, surpassed expectations »

We made our first visit to Chincoteague over Memorial Day weekend. We chose the Best Western Plus mostly because of the location (closest to the beach) coupled with good ratings. It surpassed our expectations! The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. Plus - they added special unexpected touches. The room was basic but clean and attractive. Our balcony gave us a view of the preserve and the lighthouse. In fact, you're right at the entrance to the preserve so it's a quick walk to Assateague. Or if you're driving to the beach you won't be stuck in a long line of traffic. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the traffic going to and from the beach was a bit noisy for us. But - we live in the country and it might not seem so loud if you live in a suburban or urban area. We have already made our reservation for next year!

    « Memorial day vacation »

I came here with my boyfriend memorial day weekend to get away and enjoy a nice relaxing vacation they definitely did not disappoint!!! Super clean and excellent nice staff I called to say I was running late for check in they said it was not a problem. Also left a pillow and called and they had it and even shipped it home for me..thank you so much Sandi and crystal for all of your help I will definitely be back!

« Exceptionally clean and well maintained »

Very nice stay. We have been here in the past and come back for the cleanliness, friendly helpful staff, great location, and overall value. Only one issue marred our visit this year - very active pre-school age children above us who were up running back and forth ceaselessly at 5 am each morning we were there... This is the parents' fault, not the hotel's, but next year we'll be sure to ask if there is a family booked into the room over top of us when we check in.

    5
    « Outstanding Hotel Chain »

« Great stay on our first visit to Chincoteague Island »

We booked ahead after checking out a few places online and we had a wonderful stay/experience. Had spoken by phone a few times with the staff before arriving and each and every experience involved friendly, courteous and professional people... you could feel their smiles!! Checking in was no different and very easy... called ahead to say when we'd be arriving and they had our rooms ready so we could drop our luggage and head out to our reserved boat ride. The rooms were very nice and quiet and well appointed. I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

    5
    « Great stay »

Nice clean room with a comfortable bed on the second floor. The room had 2 sinks, a refrigerator and Keurag. Bring your favorite K-cup, relax and enjoy. The view of the marsh and lighthouse is great when you sit on your balcony and relax. The staff is terrific. The breakfast was very good.

    « You'll think you're at a B&B »

I can't say enough great things about the Best Western at Chincoteague. Everyone who works here from the front desk to the housekeepers make you feel like one of the family. It has a very quaint, intimate feel that literally makes you feel like you're at a B&B. The front desk staff probably got tired of me stopping by and chatting, but they never showed it. I'd like to give a big shout out to Crystal, Joan, Sandy, and Kayze (pronounced Kay-zee). They were fabulous!!!! I needed a break from the grind of work and the rat race and theses kind folk helped me forget the ing of man.

« Excellent Staff and Hotel - Very Comfortable »

The people go out of their way to help in any way they can. The beds are so comfortable that we ordered the same mattress for our home. There is a lot in the area, and it is the best hotel on the Island for proximity to the lighthouse and beach.

This is one of the most efficiently run properties we have ever stayed at. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The property is beautifully maintained. The room was exceptionally clean, roomy and comfortable. I believe the owners are truly dedicated to providing the best for their guests. The location is great. The motel is close to the national park, several restaurants and just a few minute drive from downtown. We will definitely stay here whenever we are in the area. A nice quiet comfortable place to stay !

« Driftwood to the shore »

A most excellent place, which has maintained its very high standard for many years, delivered again. My visit, perhaps the 15th in 10 years or so, was not blessed with excellent weather, but was otherwise absolutely superb. This is THE place to stay when lower Delmarva beckons. I stay in motels about 50-70 times a year, so I do have experience with bad lodgings and good. This is most definitely among the best - and it's that way every time.

« Perfect Hotel In Perfect Location »

We were there in off season which made our stay very quiet and enjoyable. No traffic, no crowds - only friendly people everywhere. The rooms were large, clean and nicely furnished. All had balconies that gave a slight view of Assateague Island. The location was perfect - right at the bridge for Assateague.

The accommodations here are excellent but the staff is outstanding, which makes all the difference. The room felt very clean, well appointed, temperature well modulated, and quiet. I felt safe and comfortable. Most impressive of all was the extremely friendly and helpful staff; from the front desk to housekeeping I felt welcomed and that they were interested in making my personal experience there as good as it could get. And they did!

Lots of outlets to plug in phones & computers 7. HBO 8. closet to hang clothes 9. 2 dressers of drawers in a double bed room 10. free wifi

« I was a jerk---this is my way of making up for it. »

I was *that* guest. The one you stand in line behind and roll your eyes at. I was tired, the baby was fussy and the room type was not what I'd expected. Despite my less-than-stellar attitude, the front desk lady was courteous and professional. She even let me borrow her phone to call the 3rd party booking agent and straighten the situation out. In addition, this property is exceptionally well maintained. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are meticulously cared for and the location is as close to the beach as you can get on this island. Highly recommended

« Right in the "right" spot! »

Excellent service. Great breakfast. Older building but nicely kept up. Near the things you want to do. I suggest strongly Daisy's water excursions to see wild horses! Carlton Leonard and Captain Bill gave us a fantastic water tour - great personal service. Smaller group, newer boat, like riding on your leather sofa! "Bill's Prime Rib & Seafood" in town is reported to be the best, we had to walk out after looking at the prices on the menu. Although we could well afford it, a $38 steak would stick in my throat! (There were "cheaper" ones like $28.)

My wife and I have been visiting this hotel since 1980 (back in the Driftwood M.L. days), stayed here with the kids, and now we are empty nesters....and still return here. We have tried a few of the other hotel chains in the town in year's past.....and always come back to the B.W. Plus. Yes, the other chains are newer with gleaming chrome and glass....if that is your "thing"....I have had my fill of those places on business travel...we prefer the charm of a warm, inviting place that feels more like home than a cold, sterile environment. This is not to say the owners/staff don't maintain the property....just the opposite. Everything is in good working order and meticulously clean...the cleaning staff does an exceptional job. The staff of the front desk will engage you in conversation, and will always greet you with a smile. We will be return in Sept. and Oct....so we will see the good folks at B.W. Chincoteague soon!

« Best hotel on the Island »

Best Western will treat you like family. Great location, great staff. They never disappoint!! Close to Assateague and lots of great restaurants within walking or biking distance. You will not regret staying here.

« Why would you stay anywhere else????????????? »

We were in town for vacation, the weather was dreary. But you wouldn't know by the staff here, Always a smile or something upbeat to say. Once again, great accommodations, great room, great view, awesome staff! With Best Western as the last stop before the beach, why would you stay anywhere else?????

    « Very nice »

Great location and great view.. One of the nicest places on the Island to stay.. Closest to beach is a big plus and the service and rates are great! We love it here when my cousins annual motorcycle club comes to town

« Exceptional hotel in Chincoteague Island »

We LOVE this hotel!! It has a rustic/nautical island charm... and is exceptional in all it offers!! The front desk staff is WONDERFUL!!l...always friendly, offering a warm welcome with every visit. Our room is always ready..and is very clean and well tended to. We love the large rooms, the private balconies.. and the quiet ( sometimes all we hear are the gulls and shore birds singing nearby! ) The lobby is spacious and inviting and there is a great sitting area outside, under roof and is perfect for morning coffee! This hotel is on the road to Assateague Island but is in a quiet location. Thank you, Best Western Plus, for a job very well done!!! we will return many times!!!

« Great option for area »

My family had a good stay at this hotel. It is not the nicest Best Western Plus that we have stayed at but was clean and the staff was very friendly...which to us, is the most important thing. The breakfast has good options although I would have liked to see a few more healthy choices here (better oatmeal station, also no bananas when we were there). Overall, would definitely recommend this hotel.

« Best Western Variable Quality »

You never know what you get with BW. Quality is too variable as BW appears to have an Inability to enforce standards with operators. This one was superior. Close to refuge and McDonalds across the street.

    « Very Nice! »

We chose this place because the cottage that we wanted to stay in was not yet open for the season recommended it. As the purpose of our visit was to visit the nature preserve this hotel was perfectly located a short walk away. The staff was excellent and the rooms were clean and well laid out.. Would definitely recommend.

« A wonderful and relaxing place to stay »

We have been visiting Chincoteague Island for many years, and can honestly say that the Best Western Plus is the BEST place to stay. Every experience we've had there has been wonderful, and the staff is always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Over the years, the hotel has added some great features to the rooms, which are very comfortable, clean and bright. It is a relaxing place to stay.

    5
    « Great Location »

This hotel was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was great and the staff was very helpful. The hotel is also the closest hotel to the entrance to the wildlife refuge, so it made visits there very convenient and easy. We would definitely return

« great place to stay »

Went to other hotels on the island, they were so bad I was afraid to stay there. When I got to the best Western everyone there was so friendly , the room was clean , the bed was so comfortable. What a difference. The price was a little higher , but so worth it.

« Very warm and welcoming staff! »

My husband and I were celebrating 40 years of marriage, and decided to spend our Anniversary in Chincoteague so we could go hiking on Assateague and search for the wild ponies. He called the hotel directly, and happened to mention that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted like old friends, with lots of smiles and chit-chat. We were also each given a chocolate chip cookie! Then, when we got to our room, there was a beautiful flower arrangement on the table there, with two small bottles of champagne on ice and a dish of Pony Tails Saltwater Taffy. The card with the flowers said "Happy Anniversary - from the staff at Best Western Plus, Chincoteague Island"... it was a truly unexpected and most wonderful surprise! Every interaction with the staff was a wonderful one, and they made us feel like family! We'd go back in a heartbeat!! The breakfast was good, too, and there was access to coffee and tea at all times.

    « Great hotel »

We stayed at this hotel for one night to see the ponies, the location is perfect right before park entrance. At check in we got cookies for each person. We loved that the most. The room was clean and comfortable. Basic hotel room. The price was very reasonable. The pool was open we didn't go in because of time. It was clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Choncoteague.

    « Had it all »

I liked the way the room was designed such as having the extra sink in the room with the shower & toilet and the other sink in an open dressing area as well as having the ironing board mounted on the wall in a cabinet with the mirror? easy to use, even though I did not need it for this trip. Microwave, refrigerator and table with 2 chairs were very nice amenities; it added to the overall comfort of the room. This hotel had it all, price, location (short walk to Assateague Is.) and amenities!

    « Wonderful location »

Our hotel room (241)was clean, quiet, comfortable and large. The complimentary free breakfast served scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, waffles, etc. Breakfast seating is limited but we never had an issue. This was our first time staying at a Best Western Plus but had stayed at this hotel in the 80's & 90's when it was called The Driftwood. This hotel has the quickest access to Assateague Island (easy walk) with a McDonald's restaurant across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only suggestion we would make is to consider adding a room safe sometime in the future. We would stay there again and while not a four star hotel it is a three star hotel that was clean and comfortable and locally owned - IMO.

    « Road Trip »

My wife and I were on a road trip visiting family and decided to stop for the night in the middle of Eastern Shore. Luckily we had seen the sign for a Best Western at Chincoteague and took the turn off. Although we had no reservation at showed up at around 9pm the front desk found us a room and got us settled quickly. The room was well decorated in a rustic style and the bed was extremely comfortable. When we got to see the location in daylight we realized we were right across the causeway from the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge (ponies!) and got a chance to explore and do some sightseeing before our trip continued. We'll get back here on purpose next time.

    5
« Closest to the wildlife refuge »

Very friendly folks working there - helped us with dinner reservations and tips to find the ponies. We liked the furniture with our king sized bed - it was substantial and homey looking. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom also had a sink outside to make it easier for two people to get ready. One person in our group got up early and went running in the refuge which is just across the bridge. He located a group of ponies so we all went back and saw what the area is famous for. The breakfast had everything we needed for a quick bite before we were on our way.

« Call ahead to ask about the pool »

We went in mid-April when it was pretty hot outside but the pool was dirty and freezing cold. I guess we should've called ahead. The next night we went across the street to the Refuge Inn, which has an indoor pool, and were much happier. Also, if you book with TripAdvisor, read the fine print - we accidentally booked a handicapped room with no bathtub at the Best Western!

    « Would choose again »

Warm friendly staff, willing to do the extra with just a question asked. The grounds, hotel and room were clean, the breakfast was good and coffee was great. Too cold to try the swimming pool and we missed the Museum next door. View from room was well enough to see across the marsh.

    5
« Great location, cooperative staff »

We like the proximity to the wildlife refuge. Breakfast was included and good except I wish they would have skim milk available. Room was comfortable and had good seating. There were plenty of electrical outlets for charging electronic devices. We prefer first floor rooms and were able to get one and park nearby.

« Lovely, quiet, clean, great staff! »

What a great visit! Such a lovely place... quiet and very clean. Breakfast was great in my opinion. The best staff... all were extremely nice and helpful. I would like to specifically recognize front desk day staff Dayze who was always helpful no matter what our request... Kitty for our wonderful breakfasts every morning... clean and well stocked and always a smile.... Stephanie for a fantastic job keeping our room clean and freshly stocked... and afternoon/evening front desk staff Joan... probably the nicest hotel staff I've ever encountered! We have stayed at an equally nice place nearby before, but amazing staff will bring us back to Best Western Plus Chincoteague Island, VS :)

« Best Western losing points, »

Overall this is a great place to stay. Staff is nice and friendly. They fell down on the smell and cleanness of the room. I alsed one of the laundry worked for air spray and they did not have any. I did not like parking and, there should be more order to where people park. I will stay again, but I like to see those area improved.

    « Relaxing Vacation »

My husband and I don't travel often. When we do we enjoy bird watching and nature hiking. Both of these hobbies were fulfilled at Chincoteague and Assateague with amazing results. The Best Western was exceptionally quiet, the breakfast was hot, tasty and ready on time every day. Coffee was always available - a staple for us! And fresh fruit was available every day. Stephanie and Deb took care of our room every day providing a clean and fresh environment to come home to and rest as we were gone all day. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We definitely want to revisit the island and stay at Best Western again.

    4
« Great location, quiet and reasonable »

If you're visiting Chincoteague NWR there won't be a better location. It's the last hotel before you cross a bridge to the refuge. It's quiet, clean, rooms were large with larger refrigerators. The breakfast was standard fare for a hotel offering "hot" breakfast. It wasn't bad. But you can bring your own breakfast, there's a McDonald's across the street and several restaurants nearby.

    5
« One of the "best" BEST WESTERNS »

WE thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this particular Best Western. In fact, we drove 25 miles out of our way to get there and were delighted when we arrived. The staff is nothing but friendly, kind and professional. They gave us warm, baked cookies...breakfast had everything we could have wanted - fresh and available - however, the dining area is quite small. Get there early or be prepared to eat in the outdoor area. The pool is lovely though we didn't get a chance to sample it as the weather was still too cool. The views all around the hotel are also quite enjoyable. The room was immaculate and everything was in proper working order. The beds were clean and comfortable. We went to the diner next door; large portions of food....not gourmet but reasonable prices for a tourist area. The service was exceptional and quick and the waitresses were very friendly. Caveat: watch out for speed traps on the island. It wrecked our otherwise wonderful experience. This was our second time in Chincoteague (the previous time was over 10 years ago and we swore then we would never return). We were experiencing car problems and were lost. Then, we got a ticket. By that point, we were so disgusted, we drove home. A close friend passed away this week and was buried in the area so we had no choice but to return. WE booked the BW based on the favorable reviews. This was our first time on the island itself. Unbelievably, it was the second time we fell into a speed trap. We were stopped seconds after leaving the hotel and making our turn along the "round-about" as we were leaving the island. I think they know people are trying to make sure they take the appropriate exit (we were listening to google maps) instead of looking at the speed markers which change rapidly and frequently on the island. We were stopped immediately after the turn. What is most disturbing is the fact that the amount of the fine is NOT posted on the ticket. They force you to call the Admin Office on a weekday if you rather mail in the payment instead of appearing in court. Real neighborly!! Since we attended the funeral on Saturday, at the time of this writing, we still don't know the amount of the fine! Sorry BW but this will probably be the LAST time we travel to Chincoteague. Our stay was the highlight of our trip and helped mitigate the sadness we felt following the loss of our friend. Thank you!

« A great place to stay near the Chincoteague wildlife refuge »

I stayed at the Best Western Plus on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed there several times. We came to do photography in the wildlife refuge, so the location couldn't be better. The refuge is only a minute or two away. There are also two great restaurants (AJ's and The Village Restaurant) very close to the Best Western. The rooms were very clean and in excellent condition. I will be staying there again!

    « Excellent Visit »

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Chincoteague Island. This was a very well kept and clean hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They serve a good buffet breakfast, and coffee is hot and fresh all day and night. The beds have good head-supporting pillows.

    « Great location »

This hotel is located very close to the National Wildlife Refuge making it convenient to make several trips to the beach. There are also good restaurants and bike rentals close by. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable.

    5
« A very pleasant and inviting hotel »

We stayed here to enjoy the wildlife refuge. We enjoyed the hotel as well. Staff was superlative. Friendly, eager and warm. Breakfast was good (I am not a meat eater, so missed on eggs, sausages etc.), while others appear to enjoy those. Small room, but plenty of food. It is located conveniently close to the beach, the natural wildlife refute, lighthouse and other facilities (restaurants).

« Great deal with warm, friendly staff »

The best thing about this hotel is the warm, friendly staff. They make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. The rooms are comfortable. Also, it has a great location. It is located right before the bridge to Assateague. You get great views and can walk/run over to Assateague. There's a bike rental across the street and a diner right next door. The rooms are very quiet-- no noise from adjacent rooms-- although unfortunately we had a very loud heater in our room. Lastly, getting on the wifi was a breeze. We will definitely be back.

« An Excellent Place in a Great Location »

This is a great place in a great location. The staff was very nice and efficient, the place was clean and the room was as advertised. My wife wanted a private balcony with a view of Assateague Island and we got that. There is a McDonalds across the street, but the view of Assateague was still excellent, and at times breathtaking. There's a very affordable bike rental place right across the street and we biked all through Assateague, which was amazing. Most of the good restaurants and shopping are on the western side of the island, but it's only a five minute drive with easy parking once you get there, so the location was fine. We actually liked and preferred being on the quiet outskirts of town. We've always had good experiences at Best Westerns, and this place was no different. Highly recommended

    « Great Staff »

My wife and I like to come to Chincoteague and visit the Wildlife Refuge on Assateague once or twice a year. We've been doing this since our grandkids were little. They're grown now, but we still enjoy the trip. In the past we'd shop for a good hotel rate, but since we found this Best Western we haven't stayed anywhere else. The staff is incredibly helpful and courteous, and they've always made us feel welcome, particularly Beth. When we come for our anniversary in the spring, they always provide a few extra niceities to make us feel welcome. Because we usually come in the off season, sometimes finding a good local seasfood restaurant is a challenge, but the front desk always helps us make a great choice. We don't shop hotels anymore when we come to Chincoteague. Frankly the rates at Best Western have been quite competitve anyway, but the wonderful staff brings us back.

« Great Hotel on Chincoteague »

The hotel is conveniently located at the entrance to Assoteague. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. We were in a suite to accommodate 6 people. The bedrooms were both very comfortable. There was only one bathroom and I think it would be better if there had been one bathroom per bedroom. Other than that, everything was great. My kids loved the breakfast buffet. They served scrambled eggs which I loved!

    5
    « Weekend Getaway »

This is my second stay with this hotel, and it does not disappoint. This is during the "off" season but when I arrived there were only two parking spots left, which is a first but one available none the less. With that being said the hotel was quiet, the rooms were very spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast offerings were more than expected. Also every single staff member I ran into was very friendly and helpful to many of the guests who asked questions.

    5
« Wonderful Accommodations, Such Friendly Staff »

We had stayed here at Best Western on Chincoteague before and enjoyed our time in your facility. It is the closest to the beach, and the farthest from any traffic and noise. The breakfast buffet looks great, but I think it closes too early for most people to take advantage of it. On vacation we tend to sleep in, and breakfast is offered only until 9:30am. We did have coffee and a muffin. Plus, we brought home a pie from Sugar Bakers and although the dining area was closed, we were able to get forks and knives so we could enjoy the pie in our room. Thank you for the 24-hour coffee service. Our room was comfortable, best air conditioning/heating in any hotel. Balcony furniture was comfy, and all in all, this hotel is the best value at Chincoteague.

    « Excellant adventure »

Everyone that we dealt with at the hotel went out of their way to ensure that our 40th anniversary was one to remember. The location fit to a tee what we were looking for on this special trip. I would recommend this hotel without reservation. Thank you for the memories.

« Great place to stay in a great loaction »

We spent three nights at this hotel for spring break. Pros: The rooms were spacious and in great condition. The staff was wonderful in providing recommendations on things to do and places to eat. The lobby and breakfast area looked as if it had been remodeled recently. It was very convenient to Assateague Island--just across the bridge. Cons: The breakfast area was a little small. The table were always full, and it was not even a peak time of year. The tables were also very close together--it was hard to squeeze through to get food. The HVAC system could stand to be replaced. When the heat came on in the middle of the night, it was so loud that it woke me up. Overall, a great place to stay!

« It's a motel that happens to be next to the park. Feels like best western sans the plus »

Maybe this place is great during peak season because you can park and then bike in easy and have a view of assateague. But this is a converted motel with some touches. Walking outside in 40 degree rain to breakfast was not ideal. Exterior doors. Very small dining area for breakfast (4 tables). Very run down bathrooms. Beds were firm. It's fine. But nowhere near excellent reviews all over trip advisor. I had expected more from a best western plus as we had stayed at one in central PA.

    « Great Hotel! »

We stayed for a couple of days and found the staff in Reception to be extremely welcoming and helpful. The cookies on entering and the phone call after checking in were nice touches. Our room was spacious, had two double beds, a microwave, which was great for heating up our little one's milk in the evening, and a fridge. The two sinks in the room were also helpful when getting the kids brushed and ready for bed at the same time. Breakfast was included. The breakfast area is very small and at first we couldn't get a table but after about 10minutes spaces opened up (so we are glad we visited off season). There were lots of yummy items to choose from which pleased our fussy eaters. There was a member of staff around on one day at breakfast who obviously was very busy but she didn't make eye contact or even acknowledge those in the breakfast area. It would have been nice if she engaged with the customers. My little girl tried to make conversation but I had to keep telling her the waitress was busy. Sound does travel between the rooms. We could hear the children in the next room struggling to go to sleep, which led us to believe those in the next room could also hear our kids trying to settle down. Overall though, well worth the money spent.

« Excellent place to stay »

We looked at various rental houses for an anniversary getaway to Chincoteague, and ended up choosing Best Western instead. We were not disappointed. This place is conveniently located at the end of Chincoteague, and is only minutes away from Assateague Island. Excellent service, friendly staff, and about the best continental breakfast we ever had. We told the check-in clerk we were celebrating our anniversary, and the next day we found fresh roses in our room. Clean, affordable, and comfortable lodging.

Large room, great bed, friendly and helpful staff. There were cookies when we arrived, a good breakfast and coffee all day. The room had a frig and microwave. The location is right at the entrance to Cincoteague refuge. We were in the off season so the rooms were very reasonably priced. We would definitely go back.

    « Awesome! »

Everything that we experienced with this stay was wonderful. From the lovely lady who checked us in, to the sweet chocolate chip cookie surprise, to the fresh and warm coffee in the lobby was just great! Our room was clean and just perfect and we had a unobstructed view of the Assateague lighthouse and marshland! The next morning, our breakfast was hot, delicious and the breakfast bar was well stocked at all times. Upon check out, the front desk clerk was amazing and very professional. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home while we were there.

    « Very nice hotel »

Our family of four really enjoyed this hotel. We stayed here in early July 2015. It was a nice quiet location with easy access to the beach and Wildlife Refuge. It was pricey but it was a great location so that that was the trade off. The breakfast bar was good. There was a nice seating area outside if you wished. The receptionists were friendly.

WE stay here approximately 15 times a year on our way to and from NJ to the Outer Banks of NC (OBX). is ten miles off route13 on our trip but well worth the twenty minute detour .The restaurants in Chincoteague are exceptional, the town is historically significant ,and the ponies on Assateague Island are mystical but very real.If you have young chidren the visit is very special. The NASA space museum is small but great for aspiring young astronauts!

    « Top Quality Stay »

Great staff and great hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone that would be in the area and in need of a place to stay. Great prices as well. The rooms are big and spacious. The only down fall is that the swimming pool is not covered by a building and can't be used in the winter months. Other than this it is a great place to stay at.

We were "escaping" from the 2016 January snow storm and decided to stay at Chincoteague where the snowfall was projected to be on 2-3 inches, where at home they were forecasting 2-3 FEET..! We stayed here and were taken care of like we were family. Wonder location, wonder rooms, super comfortable beds, and friendly/helpful/caring staff.

    « Amazing staff »

Our stay at the Best Western Chincoteague Island was a very pleasant surprise. The rooms and amenities were everything we expected but what made the difference was their staff. They were more accommodating than we could ever expect. They were eager to switch our rooms at out request, adjust our checkout time and even moved up our breakfast time. On my next stay in Chincoteague, I'll be staying here.

Absolutely the best place to stay on Chincoteague. Island. Best Location, Best Staff and Best Value. Impromptu 60th Birthday celebration for my cousin turned out to be a delightful and fun experience thanks to the staff at Best Western Plus in Chincoteague. It was a cold and wintery time, and activities are few, but the staff assisted in finding us a local paint nite and the process for a reduced rate! It was a nice and eventful time. Of course, the ponies and other wildlife are always enjoyable, even in the winter!

If you're visiting Chincoteague, this is a great place to stay. Convenient (just before the bridge) and a great view of the bay. When a few changes were made to the itinerary, they made things simple and straightforward. Couldn't have been easier.

« Great island location and terrific staff. »

Went on a getaway weekend during the off season and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. The desk staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the island. It's the closest lodging to the Refuge entrance. Bring your bikes or rent them in town, it's the easiest way to see the Refuge and probably the best way to get around town in the summer (I'm sure parking a car is a challenge). Free WiFi had a good signal in our room and in the public areas. Measured download speeds maxed out at 10 Mbps. As this was November, I expect slower download speeds in the busy months. Would definitely stay here again.

I would like to give 5 stars if AC made less noises. I love the location as the first hotel at the entry of Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. We could walk to the wildlife refuge. The staffs were helpful. Good breakfast started at 6 am.

    « I will be back »

I cannot say enough about this hotel. Staff, Service, Location, and Room you name it I will gladly claim it. It felt like home away from home. Even on a rainy afternoon a good book an a wonderful view. Made a difference for me. Thanks for doing all the right things to make a small vacation feel like a little bit of heaven.

« Ritz Carlton Customer Service »

I can't say enough about the incredible customer service we received here. Fresh brewed coffee, hot chocolate, oranges, apples and chocolate chip cookies to greet us after a weary drive to the island. A call 10 minutes after we got to our spotlessly clean room, to make sure everything was OK. And the much appreciated suggestion of the diner across from us for dinner. Breakfast was unremarkable, but satisfying. Ask for a 3rd floor room, or you'll be woken up at random hours by the sumo wrestlers in the room above you.

« Nice place to visit & I would NOT mind living here!!! »

First, FRIENDLY!!!, 2nd, 3rd & 4th, CLEAN!!! I REALLY like a CLEAN place to stay when I'm away from home! {Doesn't Everyone?} Being it was OFF SEASON, the restaurants were limited but the ones that were open, Extremely GOOD! Shopping, also limited, but there were bargains to be had! My wife and I were there to relax for the weekend & shopping & eating DOES relax us!!! the hotel breakfast was what you would expect, HOT waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage links on Sat., bacon on Sunday. All of the other assorted breakfast favs were there for the pinkins too INCLUDING GF cereal!!! A PLUS for my wife!

    « I plan on visiting again! »

I do not typically stay with the Best Western chain. I will definitely return to this location without hesitation. Beautiful rooms, lovely decor, varied hot breakfast compares to other chains that charge more, friendly staff. Everything was perfect.

    « Terrific motel »

The location of the motel, the appearance and cleanliness of the motel, but most importantly, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff made this a wonderful place to stay. I will stay here again on my next visit to Chincoteague Island.

    « Comfortable, clean, friendly--fantastic! »

We had just finished cleaning our home after the movers left--dead tired we were! When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with a nice cold drink--and a super comfortable and clean suite! The staff went out of their way to make our stay a restful experience! When we come back for a visit--we will stay here again--EXCELEINT!!

Our favorite hotel on Chicoteague Island. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast with variety changes each day. Very nicely appointed rooms updated with K-Cup coffee makers, mini refrigerator and microwave. Immediately adjacent to the Wildlife Refuge.

« No better place to stay!! »

If you are into nature, bird watching, wild ponies or beach going, this is the place to stay for its location! Lighthouse view off of your balcony. It is the closest to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, not even a quarter mile away! Their breakfast is very good, always a wide variety of hot or cold food, coffee always ready. Staff is super friendly and they make sure that you are happy. I feel so welcomed when I am there.

« Great place to stay »

We loved it there. Next time we pass thru the eastern shore we will definitely stay there. It's 10 miles off Rt. 13 but well worth the trip. Great place, great staff, great view. Didn't get to do much since we were off season and it was only an overnight stay. Breakfast was the best we've ever had at a hotel free breakfast. First time we've ever had eggs that tasted like eggs.

« Comfortable, clean, quiet, fantastic rooms »

We wish all Best Western Motels were like this one. We were greeted with fresh chocolate chip cookies, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The view was beautiful, we could not have asked for any better! We cannot wait to return to this absolutely wonderful place.

great staff, nice location,, need a car to enjoy area , I would use again. Beds comfortable and rooms nice size. If you are on the second floor be prepared to go out side to get to your room. Dining area very small.

« Fantastic Place to stay »

This place is great and the staff are so v ery helpful. Inside the room...fantastic. Everything perfect and better than I expected. I have stayed at many Best Westerns and some could be called mediocre...this one is top notch and rivals more expensive hotels. Location is PERFECT...right at the entrance to the National Forest and Access to Assateague.

    « Friendly staff »

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very friendly staff. The lobby was clean and inviting. The front desk staff was very helpful with giving us recommendations for places to eat locally. The room was clean and cozy. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Clean and quiet »

Overall, what you'd want from a motel. Good staff, clean and fresh-smelling room, and close to the wilderness preserve. Probably the only drawback is the cost, but I guess you get what you pay for. Cheers.

« great place to stay »

Great location next to wildlife refuge and Chincoteague history museum. We appreciated the hot breakfast at 6 am. Staff very nice and helpful in recommending restaurants. The room was clean and contained amenities such as a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker with coffee.

« Best place to stay when visiting the refuge »

Excellent hotel, friendly, professional staff, and an ideal location adjacent to the wildlife refuge. I also appreciate the fact that they offer a complimentary breakfast at 6 a.m., which allows plenty of time to get to the refuge for early morning wildlife watching and photography.

    « place for ponies »

This is again A Best Western property that was different before aquired, however the change has been very successful and is a most pleasent place to stay. It is not on the water as some of the others but is close to the National Park were the ponies are left to roam. You can see the lighthouse from the room's balcony and the sunset across the street. The breakfast was varied and substantial. The room was large and clean and comfortable.

    « always come back »

We have stayed at this hotel when on Chincoteague Island. Just about the best for the value, and the staff is more than welcoming. Breakfast has all the fixings for a good start. They will see us again.

Every morning you receive a complimentary breakfast of eggs breakfast meat that changes daily, sausage and biscuits, hot and cold cereal, yogurt with toppings, fresh fruit, bagels, Belgian waffles, muffins, toast, breakfast juices, milk, hot coffee and tea. This hotel is the closest to the entrance to the Assateague Island entrance. It is convenient to all island locations.

    « Good Stay! »

This is by no means a luxury hotel. However...everything was clean and everyone was pleasant. The price was reflective of what you get. It is the last hotel before Assateague. The pool area was nice and clean. The breakfast was very crowded and does not have enough room to properly accommodate all guests. Get there early if you want to eat! :)

« Amazing Hotel (Right in the heart of it all)!! »

My fiancé and I stayed at the Best Western in April of last year (2015) for a wedding weekend. On our way their we were concerned because we had never been that far away from Pennsylvania and did not know how the hotel would be, and what fun we would find in the area. We received at the hotel at 9p.m exhausted and hungry! When we walked into the door we were greeted by the hotel receptionist and she was AWESOME!! She had a great smile, wonderful sense of human, and was very educated on what was around and open for us to grab a bite to eat. We told her we were from Philadelphia and she directed us to an amazing hoagie shop down the street (us philadelphians HAVE to try a hoagie while we are out). The hotel room was very clean and up to date. WE loved staying here! The breakfast in the morning was MORE than I would have ever expected! ... There is a nature preserve right down the street that you pay to get into and no only is there trails to explore, wild horses to watch, and a light house to take tours, but the beach is there as well!! What more could you ask for! Incredible experience all around!!

    « Anniversary getaway »

Chincoteague is one of our favorite places to visit within a three hour driving distance and we always enjoy our stay at the Best Western on the Island. From making our reservations, to checking out, all of the folks are wonderful to interact with. The folks at Best Western make the experience very pleasurable. Everyone was very accommodating and the hotel is one of the nicest we have ever stay in. Clean, spotless actually, and just wonderful. GREAT WEEKEND!

« Great hotel and location »

One of the best hotels in which we have ever stayed. Clean, nicely decorated. Great location less than a mile from entrance to Assateague Island. Can rent bikes right across the street. Great breakfast. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I read the TripAdvisor reviews before booking this and they were right - a great place to stay.

    « Nice Hotel »

Checked in late after reviewing several other hotels in the area. This Hotel was competitively priced, the woman at he check in was extremely friendly answering questions about the area. It is located right outside of the park. The hotel room was comfortable with all we needed - coffee pot, refrigerator, ironing board, desk/table area, comfortable beds. The room had a slight odor of potpourri/cleaner? but not unbearable. We would stay here again if in the area.

« Very nice hotel - will definitely return!! »

This hotel is extremely clean and well decorated. The staff was helpful and always friendly. There are tables and chairs outside the lobby. We ate our breakfast inside as it was not crowded when we ate but could have eaten outside on the patio. We did enjoy some ice cream from the nearby Island Creamery while enjoying the lovely weather. Breakfast was great with scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage or bacon, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, waffles, fruit, pastries, bagel and bread assortments, muffins, milk, coffee, juice. They even had granola for the yogurt and strawberries and whipped cream for the waffles. There is always coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate in the lobby. They even gave us 2 chocolate chip cookies upon arrival. The front desk staff was eager to help make our stay as pleasant as possible. They told us about the wild pony round up that weekend and also about various activities and dining in the area. I was very pleased with the Best Western and will definitely plan to return.

Great location if your going to the National Park. Quite end of the street. Clean room, comfortable bed, breakfast every morning. You can see the lighthouse from the rooms. Pool was clean but I didn't try it in 50 degree weather.

    « Still the One! »

Another wonderful weekend! We have stayed here 4 times and have always been very happy. The staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable. The warm chocolate chip cookies are the best! Rooms are clean, grounds are well-maintained, and the location is perfect!

We had a wonderful time in Chincoteague and the Best Western Plus was so convenient to everything. The staff was exceptional, and the beds so comfortable. Everything was neat and clean, the bonus complementary breakfast was great. Can't wait to come back.

« Best option for visiting wildlife refuge »

Convenient to all wants and desires. Good breakfast but limited indoor seating. Nice locale. Space enthusiasts should allow an hour for NASA visitors center on Wallops Island. Climb the Assateague Lighthouse (175 steps) for excellent views of area.

    « Chincoteague 2015-1 »

Excellent hotel, value, location and staff. This was our second trip to Chincoteaguye. Our first was our Honeymoon. At every touchpoint during our stays in this hotel the experience has been nothing short of excellent. The entire staff was a pleasure to interface with at any level, and they showed a standard of caring that was outstanding. I highly recommend this facility, its location, its value and its staff.

« Annual September Trip to this Hotel. »

So much to say about this hotel, we stay every September for a week this being our tenth year staying, can't say enough about staff, cleanliness, grounds, pool area , such a tropical feel with the way plantings are done. Nice picnic area in back of hotel , and on our last night there, we cook out and just enjoy the peace and quiet the island brings. Not a far ride to the Assateague Wildlife Refuge where, you will find the best beach, the lighthouse, plus a chance to see wild ponies who roam the island. If ever you get the chance to come , you will find this hotel to be more than accomodating, with good breakfast offerings and just plain great service. Edna and Mark Lewis Hampton, Virginia.

« Why stay anywhere else? »

This is the friendliest hotel, the staff is very nice and welcoming. The breakfast is very good. I've been staying here for over 20 years and it just keeps getting better. The location is great, its the closest to the Wildlife Refuge, the reason why I go, so coming and going in and out of the refuge is so easy and only takes a minute to go back to your room. Grab breakfast and go!

« Delightful Stay, Perfect Location! »

On a whim my husband and I drove to Chincoteague Island for Columbus Day for our first visit ever. When we found that most hotels were booked on Saturday night we realized it was a busy weekend there. Nevertheless we decided to check in to the Best Western Plus for Friday and go with the flow. So Glad We Did! The people at the front desk were so friendly and helpful we felt like it was a B&B not a chain hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and the location is perfect, right at the entrance to Assategue's Nature Preserve. Restaurants and Main St are just a short drive away too. An added bonus was their breakfast offering which was better than the average hotel fare. We would stay there again in a heart beat!

    « Nature »

I am a retired medical photographer, and have transitioned to wild life photography as a hobby and a way to become involved with nature. So, I make occasional trips to places like Chincoteague Island, and Blackwater Refuge to photograph nature, and because I must travel to these refuges for my pictures, I am required to stay in a motel, and the Chincoteague Best Western Hotel is one of the best I have stayed in anywhere!

    5
    « Great Breakfast! »

Great location for exploring Chincoteague and Assateague by bike! The refuge is close by and has nice flat biking trails. Bring plenty of bug spray as mosquitoes are ruthless even in late September! There is relief from mosquitoes at the seashore. The hotel has a full and complete breakfast with good variety. It is across the street from bike rentals and next door to Chincoteague museum.
