Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel

I was attending a show at The Vic theater, and saw this was fairly close. Someone told me this is also only a couple blocks from Wrigley Field which I would've liked to have seen, but didn't have time on this trip. It's a nice, quiet little hotel, which I appreciated. My room, a queen bed, was very spacious and smelled pleasant & clean upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable and there was a big tv on the dresser. The floor was hardwood, which was nice and I never heard anybody else from my room - traffic/sirens sometimes since my room faced the street, but not a big deal for me. There were vending & soda machines on my floor, which was great. I was also glad there was a coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave in my room - especially for storing & heating up that Chicago deepdish! Breakfast was offered, although I never partook, but it looked & smelled good. What I loved, was the 24 hour coffee bar in the breakfast room. I came back late at night, and was able to grab a hot cup of decaf on my way to my room, and on my way to the airport, I had a fresh cup of coffee too. So convenient! The neighborhood seemed alright - there were always people out walking, jogging, and walking their dogs and it looked like there were shops & restaurants nearby, although I didn't have time to explore the neighborhood. Overall, this was a great place to stay and not far from a lot of the places I wanted to see in Chicago (Willis building, downtown Riverwalk, Millenium Park, etc., and about half hour from Midway airport.)

I received excellent service at this location, and loved the charm of the property in the area surrounding it! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Although this property has two buildings there is breakfast in each building. It's a great place to stay!

Room was comfortable and quiet. This is a great location and helpful to have the car in the hotel's parking lot just next to the hotel. Parking was extra, but very much worth it. Convenient and no hassle with driving in and out. We will be back.

The Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel was a great spot to stay while visiting Chicago. The Lakeview area was a nice neighborhood and it was much more quiet than a spot closer to the Gold Coast. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. A real plus for us was the ceiling fan! The bathroom had 2 sinks with a ton of room - there were even robes! This was my second stay and I really like this property.

Room got hotter through the night and I had the temp set at 65. no area to sit and eat breakfast, you have to take it to your room. They charge you $33 for parking! The night shift lady was friendly but the morning staff was not. The picture of the hotel they post is very deceiving and looks nothing like the hotel when you arrive,

Great location and architecture. Convenient to the places we wanted to visit. Staff was great, friendly and welcoming. Check in and out was a breeze. Looking forward to the next visit. Did I mention that everything we wanted to see was within walking distance?

Hotel is ALWAYS kept clean and spotless and staff are ALWAYS warm and friendly. Area is safe with lots of great restaurants and places to shop. NEVER felt unsafe walking around at all hours of the night and late night especially when coming back from Boystown nearby

Mould on all windows which is a health hazard! Hair in shower from previous guests, heater was so noisy and blew out cold air only, tv remote didn't work, check in staff not helpful at all. Would not recommend staying here at all

This is an incredible little gem. Beautiful, quiet area, close to restaurants, shops, and Wrigley Field. Additional fee for parking but grateful for it. The breakfast was simple and delightful. Enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the courtyard. I highly recommend it!

Great staff from reception desk to the cook/chef who provides the breakfast. Location is perfect, we participate in the annual Lakeview East Art Fair. Rooms are large and clean. Street noise is minimal in the main building.

Very enjoyable stay within walking distance of Wrigley Field and the CTA station at Addison St. Lots of quality take out dining in the area as well as beautifully maintained residential properties throughout for shady walks.

We love the location, walking distance to Cubs game reasonable parking rates. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options, bacon, eggs, oatmeal, granola parfaits and they served later than most places. Adorable patio seating out front, safe area! Friendly people.

This hotel is located in a great location in the northern part of the city , and near the lake. Walking distance to the Cubs games and plenty of good food. The room we chose for three adults had two separate sleeping rooms and a small kitchen, perfect for the three days we stayed. Clean and friendly service !

This was a great place to stay! It was clean and very cute. The breakfast was great and the value of what I received was amazing based on what I paid. The best part is they had parking on site as well right next to the building which made it easy to get in and out.

Clean hotel with great location to Wrigley Field! A bit outdated. The bed frames are terrible, metal with just bed on a spring. Super loud with any movement and not very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. Staff was very friendly. Would stay here again for the location convenience.

Good location close to Wrigley Field (15 minute walk). Beds were comfortable and the showers were decent. Hotel is old...smells old. Staff were neither friendly nor unfriendly...just indifferent. Window blinds didn't work properly (broken)...

This hotel is like a lovely boutique hotel. Doesn't resemble a chain at all. Lovely staff, great location, very clean and free breakfast! The rooms were spacious and have everything you need (fridge, microwave, etc).

The place was just beautiful, inside and out. Very luxurious, especially for the very reasonable price! The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The free breakfast was a great bonus and very yummy. Will definitely stay again!

Hotel was in a great location, super convenient to walk the neighborhood. Parking was very easy and convenient, as you can pull into the lot right next to the hotel and pay for it with your check-out bill. Rooms were clean, appeared much nicer and better lit than photos made out to be. Room was very close to entryway so there was some noise you could hear, but to be expected. Will stay again.

What a wonderful time my family and zi had just taking 48 hours away from the reality of life. Everything was perfect at the Hawthorne Terrace. We will return! It could not have been a better winter getaway!

The hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and the beds were amazingly comfortable!!! They were extremely accommodating for my late check in and it was nice that they locked the building down at a certain time, it made both me and my fiend very comfortable knowing they were taking our safety seriously. Thank you and we do plan on returning again in the future.

The rooms are beautiful and clean bathroom clean very modern great location to everything food shops etc parking was additional but they have a parking lot! The staff is excellent I'll be back again!

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful upon checking in. Room was very clean. Double king bed suite was big, comfortable, and well appointed. Complimentary breakfast was a nice addition. Great value for the price in a nice area.

Great location. Walk to shopping, dining, bars, etc. Very clean, comfy beds, nice amenities. Hotel parking is expensive. It's sometimes possible to find a free spot on surrounding neighborhood streets, but you can't count on that. Read all signs carefully. You can also use Spothero. Like everywhere else, keep an eye on your valuables while in Lakeview. It's easy to assume the best but purses are being stolen when women aren't paying attention. It's a great location, though. I love it there!

Very comfortable hotel. Excellent breakfast included. Price was good. Service good. Staff efficient. Room was very nice with refrigerator and microwave. Plan to stay again next time I am in Chicago. Convenient location with good access to bus and train.

My wife and I stayed here recently, what a great place! Endless things to do in the neighborhood, steps from Wrigley Field. Hotel was amazing! great breakfast recommend the cinnamon rolls! Staff was very friendly and ready to point you in the right direction. If you are looking for something different from staying downtown with all the crowds, this place has it all!

One of our beds was lopsided creating a slope that was impossible to sleep on. The most comfortable bed in the room was the sleeper sofa. The location was everything, but the room was expensive for the services provided and the bed accommodations.

We originally had a room in the older section. When we arrived and checked into the room, we realized that the air wasn't working. No air was circulating and it was stuffy. We asked to be moved over to the new section. They agreed but we had to pay an additional fee. When we got into the other room we realized it was filthy but we're tired from traveling so we decided to clean the room ourselves in the morning. The clerk at the front desk is unfriendly and unmotivated to help. This us our second time staying here and our last!

Nice Best Western property Nice staff and good breakfast Neighborhood is safe and has a lot of amenities. The parking fee is cheaper than other Chicago hotels! Did enjoyed my stay and will certainly return soon with my friends whenever I am back in Chicago

Suite has a king bed and sofa bed, kitchen, double sink bathroom with walk-in shower and robes. Very comfortable and quiet. Great location with many stores, a Jewel grocery store, and restaurants within walking distance!

Staff at front desk was not particularly kind, except for the one young lady who spoke Spanish. She was very kind. Rooms getting cleaned every other day is not ideal, TVs cannot receive cast from devices, don't have open HDMI ports so you are limited to cable channels full of ads.

The staff is so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean and very spacious. Pillows and bed are the most comfortable I've slept in in all of Chicago. The sheets & towels smell amazing. Great location and walking distance to Starbucks, Wrigley and great restaurants. Love this place! 5 stars every time!

The location was outstanding! 5 minute walk to Wrigley and even shorter walk to Roscoes and other LQBTQ bars! The beds were so comfortable, I didn't want to get out of bed! Very clean establishment as well! Will definitely stay again when in Chicago!

What a cute place! Didn't look like a hotel, really nice. Beds were comfortable, had needed amenities. Continental breakfast was great! Make your own waffles, eggs, potatoes and lots of coffee. 15” walk to Clark st and the Christmas bars.

This hotel was perfect for a visit overnight. Super close to everything we needed! Love that there is a parking lot that allowed for dropping off easily. Comfortable, quiet rooms and great breakfast!

I have never stayed at a Best Western Plus, so I was optimistic of our one night stay. The hotel was by an event we were going to with our friends. We booked two rooms and they were both clean but had a run down feel. The real issues of the rooms were the heat could not be turned down or up. Both rooms were very warm and unpleasant to sleep. Secondly, when our guest tried taking a shower in the morning, their was no hot water. Because of these two issues, I would not return

I stayed at the BW Hawthorne terrace as part of my trip driving from Minnesota to NY. This is the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed at. The room I stayed in had beautiful wood laminate flooring and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. I don't know if they recently remodeled, but it felt really up to date and decorated as nicely as any five star hotel I've stayed in. I'm traveling with my dog, Mocha, and this hotel is extremely dog friendly too. In fact, everyone was really nice and helpful. This neighborhood is full of great restaurants and perfect for dog walking late at night or early in the morning. This was my first time in Chicago, and I couldn't believe how nice the people are here! Even the driving was easy because people are courteous and patient compared to every other city I've been in. Even the cabbies are nice and let you pull out into traffic in front of them. I was amazed how nice everyone seemed! I was so comfortable in this hotel that I stayed an extra day to walk around a bit. I almost stayed a third day and would've if a big snow storm wasn't bearing down on the area. I'm def coming back to stay here to see more of Chicago when I get the chance. It's not easy to find dog friendly places that are this nice and this affordable. Parking in the neighborhood takes a little patience but wasn't hard at all. I could've payed around thirty dollars per day if I wanted or needed to. This hotel is close to the grocery store, convenience store, and gas station too. It was so easy getting what I needed within a few blocks either direction. This is my new favorite hotel, which ironically, used to be the Best Western Key Ambassador in key West FL.!

Lovely boutique hotel in a great area ! The room was very large compared to other hotel rooms in a large city . Front desk very helpful . Definitely will be staying there again when in Chicago . Lots of shops and restaurants around the hotel .

We have stayed at this hotel at least four times in the last year since it's right down the street from my daughters home. It never disappoints! Super clean, very cozy, great beds and bedding and the best pillows ever! It's nice that they have breakfast every morning so you can either get a bagel, cereal, some thing a little bit more but you can always get great coffee! Would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the boys town/Lakeview area of Chicago. One block back from the lake. Can't beat it! They have great single rooms as well as terrific suites. Most recently we rented the two bedroom suite which was perfect since we had our daughter with us. A little gym in Chicago!

I have stayed at this hotel several times and enjoyed every visit. The hotel staff always provides excellent service. Room and common areas very clean, breakfast always delicious and happy they are pet friendly.

We stay here every time we are in Chicago - which is often as our daughter lives right across the street. A very welcoming place, all rooms are spacious and clean, beds are super comfy. Breakfast is very good and anything you can imagine is within walking distance including Wrigley field and innumerable great restaurants. Highly recommend.

The pillows were very nice the beds were soft and comfortable the breakfast was great the conditions of the room were very clean the best hotel service I've had so far this hotel deserves a 5 star. I would be happy to come back there

The Loop is overrated!! This Lakeview gem is soooo convenient to fun restaurants, clubs, bars, lounges, and the lakefront! Maryann, the night auditor, was most helpful . This industry needs more of those like her. Fun, conversant, peppy, and efficient, All of that at midnight! The room was luxuriously appointed, and the two king beds with the partiition was perfect! Wish there were blackout curtains and a quieter HVAC, but those items would not deter me from another visit. Thank you BWPHT!!

Great place to stay when in town for a concert at the Metro. Loved our weekend! Breakfast was good, just get there early because it gets crowded. Room was clean and staff was friendly. The “Angry” hot tub (my husband dubbed it) was awesome after walking all day.

The staff were absolutely the most wonderful people! I appreciate all the help and everything they did for us. Highly recommend this place not my first time staying there. This wasn't my first time staying here and won't be the last. :)

Updated room, well maintained in the heart of Lakeview East. Shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity make this location ideal. Front desk staff all were helpful, knowledgeable, friendly. Great!

Overall, I liked this hotel. The mid-week price was reasonable. The bed was comfortable; I slept well except for maybe a little street noise one night. Maybe my standards are higher than most guests, but I would like to see some healthier breakfast options. But many guests didn't seem to mind the breakfast. If I could give it a 4.5 rating, I would.

Great stay for me! Shower design not so good. Ya can't turn on the shower without getting wet, when ya don't want to get wet yet. The current design doesn't give you ample time to avoid the stream of water Try it yourself.

The hotel was adorable, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room went above and beyond our expectations. Comfy beds, clean, great view. Breakfast was conveniently downstairs as we were in the building next to the main hotel. The neighborhood is very welcoming and inclusive. We will definitely be going back!

Great location, very cute hotel, feels much more bougie than other Best Westerns. Room was very nice, breakfast was way above average for most hotels, and the parking was very convenient given it's in Chicago. Also, It's right in the heart of Northalstead i.e. Boystown; great place for hitting up all the gay bars if that's your thing.

Great hotel experience in an area of Chicago that is safe with a good local vibe and ample entertainment opportunities. Walking distance to Shoreline Dr and a variety of restaurants. Definitely worth considering for your next trip to N Chicago.

The place was great and nicely kept and within walking distance to the bar scene! Hotel had really nice amenities a bathroom with a walk-in shower and duel sinks and a nice small kitchen! Definitely will consider this place again when traveling downtown!

We stayed for 2 nights, chose this hotel because of the location. For the price I would have expected it to be updated. It does need some TLC. But, it was quiet, clean and the staff was very friendly.

This is nice,quiet hotel tucked in to the busyness of Chicago and it's a short walk to Lake Michigan. Beautiful! We would definitely recommend it and will stay there again if/when we visit Chicago again.

You can find a better hotel. This place is gross. Room was extremely dusty and had millipedes in both the bathroom and bed areas. There is no carpet in the room and after walking barefoot the bottoms of my feet were black with dirt.

I love staying at this place! It's always clean, conveniently located, and in a neighborhood that is safe and beautiful! The staff is always accommodating and will upgrade my room if I ask! Best Western knows how to take care of their rewards members!!

We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite with living room area and kitchenette. King beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Great location for walking to Wrigley Field and local restaurants.

The hotel is located in a great neighborhood, Lakeview, with easy access to downtown, Lincoln Park, the lake, Evanston, etc. The rooms are newly renovated, they are large, clean and have a small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. Nice gym and jacuzzi. Continental breakfast served each morning. Front desk and housekeeping were all very friendly.

The hotel has a vintage vibe but with modern decor and design in the spacious rooms. We stayed several times and have had great experiences each time. The rooms we've stayed in were more like a little apartment. Free parking is a great bonus too!

We selected this hotel because of it was close to Wrigley. The neighborhood has many dining options. The hotel was clean, quiet, and safe. Yes, next time we are heading to Wrigley we would stay at this hotel again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It is an affordable gem close to LGBTQ+ neighborhoods and other quaint restaurants. Staff was friendly. Bed and pillows comfy and room very clean. AC was noisy but worked well- all of those units are noisy.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy with great parking. Average breakfast. No complaints about the people HOWEVER, way way overpriced for what we got. Older building and cramped hallways and lobby..... should have been half the cost!!

The Best Western Hawthorne Terrace has all the charm of a vintage hotel with modern conveniences in the rooms. The bathrooms have updated walk in showers and the beds are comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Lakeview so we could easily access restaurants and bars. We'll be back when we visit again.

Small hotel. We stayed in annex next door - a comfortable suite with a small kitchen. Bath was updated with large shower and very nice. King bed was fine. It's close to coffee shops and small restaurants on Broadway and only a three block walk to Kathy's on Lakeshore Drive. A free breakfast included. The courtyard in front of hotel was a nice place to eat or enjoy a drink in the afternoon. Good access to public transit. A paid parking lot next door with in and out access. Stay here again.

Was in town for a concert. BWPHTH was exactly what I wanted in location and service. Would love to stay there again. Staff was excellent. Services and cleanliness were excellent. Great neighborhood location.

Simple, safe, and reliable. My number one spot for those visiting Lakeview! Location location location, BW on Broadway offers the best accommodations in Chicago, don't go to diversey don't go downtown this is where you need to stay!!!!!!

Location was perfect for a bachelorette party, 5 minute walk to the clubs. There were rats outside at night by the patio area but they didn't bother us. Room wasn't ready until after 4 even though it said 3. There's a parking charge that wasn't mentioned until after check out. Other than that it was a nice room. Beds are not queens but full size.

Such a nice long weekend here , everything was very clean & we stayed in a spacious king suite . Room was clean upon arrival . Breakfast had a nice variety . Staff was friendly all around . Parking was super easy here . Would recommend for get together with family . Excellent location .

Just walking up to the front door, you feel like you have stepped into a Parisian café. Such a pretty place to stay. So calming after working. I will recommend this location to all my friends. Right in the heart of the neighborhood. Walking distance to great shops, bars, and FOOD!!!

We had a great 3 day stay. We loved the ambiance and it appears the hotel was recently updated. We took in two Cardinals Cubs games. Walking to each game was a breeze. There were wonderful restaurants short walking distance from the hotel. The hotel staff was pleasant and our room very comfortable. We will be back.

Visiting my nephew, who just relocated to the Chicago area. They hotel staff were very welcoming, very flexible and worked with us We arrived prior to check in, they stored our luggage til our room was ready.

We loved our stay. So conveniently located! The outdoor parking was amazing as our truck doesn't fit in most garages, the room was clean and beautiful and the service was amazing! It felt like a luxury hotel! Thank you all so much! We will be back next month!

My husband decided he wanted to go to Chicago to watch the Cubs and Cardinals play. I looked for hotels close to Wrigley Field. This hotel was within walking distance. The two king beds were perfect for two couples. It was clean and comfortable!

We stayed there and really appreciated the ability to park our car walk to the stadium. The room was clean and neat and the staff was pleasant. Would stay there again. Has several options within walking distance to eat.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's in a great location (walking distance from Boystown, Wrigleyville, and the waterfront), but also quiet. My room was clean and comfortable with large televisions and a sitting area, but it was the small details that impressed me: a Kuerig coffee maker, complimentary bottled water, USB outlets, and an Amazon Echo. I also enjoyed the charming patio area in front of the hotel.

15 minute walk to wriggly. 5 minute walk to steamworks. 15 minute Uber from Union Station / Willis Tower. 20 minute walk to concrete beach. eBike rentals within a block. Bike lanes. Grocery store a few blocks away. The channel options are bad - tv seems HDMI ready. Quiet, vanilla, straight crowd - maybe because it's a best western? Breakfast is serviceable, especially if you're hungover. The store nearby makes it winnable. Charming building with modern rooms. If you're looking for a place in boys town. This won't disappoint in that regard. Can't wait to visit Chicago again. This place was a big plus, will try to stay here agin.

If you are looking for a nice quiet stay in a popular area, this is your hotel! Once you enter the doorways of this best Western Plus, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The hotel has a great staff, and they are quick to respond to your every need. The rooms were clean and quiet. The hotel is perfectingly situated as there are many restaurants, bars, shopping opportunities, and of course Wrigley Field. And there is close access to public transport, but there is also ample parking. And if you are in need of a rental car, there are Zip Cars in the parking lot as well. This is definitely somewhere we will be returning to again and again.

Rooms were clean and spacious! Beds very comfortable!! The location was in close proximity to shops, restaurants, and Wrigley Field. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again! My only recommendation is the shower. It was designed for elderly/disabled and you had to hold the hose!

Internet was nonexistent, floor was damaged with missing boards, the room was small for these prices an it was supposed to be a suite, location was good i would not stay here again for the price there are far better places for far less money than 692$ a night

Great location in a very walkable neighborhood. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean building and hot breakfast everyday. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of bars and restaurants around as well as two L train stations within walking distance.

Nice accommodations in a good area. Getting to the lake is about 3 blocks and walking to Montrose/dog beach is about 2.5 miles. Wrigley and the Addison ‘L' stop was a 10 - 15 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well. Hotel was clean, comfortable and has a decent size parking lot next door to the hotel…parking is $33 per night but worth it for the conscience of having your car near by.

Part business part pleasure it was nice to be near the lake (walkable) & close to transit for a quick trip downtown to see popular sites. Many good restaurants nearby. Lovely front courtyard for meals or waiting on transport.

I enjoyed my stay here. It was clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and the staff was very good. I will plan to go there again. The prices fluctuated due to the popularity apparently but it is a place that one can count on to be a high quality accommodation and service. I was on the fourth floor and it was very quiet.

DON'T STAY HERE. They moved me to another building to "accommodate" other "guests." The front desk staff were snippy, smirking at me when I explained the loud, vibrating HVAC that shook my $400 per night room. The RATS in the adjacent parking lot were not only huge, they were fast. Gross! I wonder if they made it to my room. $55 to park with the rats. Horrible hotel, horrible staff, horrible experience, horrible price. NEVER AGAIN.

We chose this location for our visit to Chicago due to it's proximity to our son's apartment and because it had parking next door for our car since we were driving. This hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed in a king suite which was spacious, well appointed and very clean. It had hard wood floors and all the modern amenities including a walk-in shower. The included hot breakfast buffet was wonderful and had many choices including cinnamon rolls from Mrs. Sather's, a local favorite. The neighborhood is extremely walkable with numerous good restaurant choices, stores, and a full grocery store. The lakefront /harbor is a few short blocks away, with its 15 mile Lakeshore trail for walking. There is a courtyard in front of the building, shaded by trees, where we sat to enjoy the outdoors. I felt like a "local" while staying at the hotel. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I visit Chicago!

Stayed for the Chris Stapleton concert and loved the entire vibe of the neighborhood! Would highly recommend this hotel for its rooms(clean and comfy), staff( friendly and knowledgeable), and the location ( many shops and restaurants in walking distance). Will definitely stay again!!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this Best Western. It is perfectly located near the Lakefront and Boys' Town districts. Lots of dining options. The room was perfect in every way. We were fortunate to book a suite which was well worth the price we paid.

A very tired family of four on a month long road trip found a little slice of Nirvana in this hotel. The beds were “just right”, not too hard, not too soft. We were very comfortable. The temperature of the room was also “just right” which as you know is important for a good night's sleep. In the morning, the hotel provides a varied and hearty breakfast that sticks to your ribs, essential for a long day of sightseeing around Chicago. The location itself is situated by many restaurants that serve amazing food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The best hotel on this long road trip and one of the best I've stayed at in the USA.

Had a very enjoyable stay at Best Western. Staff was pleasant, facilities were clean and the hotel is near many places to eat, with large grocery store a few blocks away. Train/rail stations were about a 10 minute walk as well.

The Hawthorne Terrace is ranked at 3-stars but I had a far more luxurious experience. The setting is perfect, in a safe treelined neighborhood easily accessed by public transportation. I upgraded to a suite, which would have been a perfect for a city weekend. Plenty of interesting bars and restaurants within walking distance. The whole place felt more like a European B&B than a chain hotel. Breakfast was the only disappointing thing about my stay. Its self-service area was tiny and difficult to maneuver in. Plan on breakfast at one of the aforementioned restaurants.

Best and most affordable place to stay for Cubs game. Walking distance to Wrigley Field. We arrived about an hour before our check in time and was allowed to check in anyway. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

When I arrived for check in with my freind, we overlooked a required detail to get the room. A $100 dollar refundable deposit was needed. I had cash on me but needed it for restaurant and entertainment expenses. The desk associates were so kind, and went the extra mile to work out an arrangement that would work for us. I actually ended up saving a few dollars on the room. That set the tone for their commitment and service to us for the rest of our stay. The staff addressed all of our needs in a speedy efficient, freindly manor. When we initially arrived, my impression was, this feels like being in a. hotel in a small town like Mayberry. I was waiting for aunt Bee to bring out the milk and cookies.lol. The experience was much warmer than going downtown to a steel and stone skyscraper Hotel with digital cyber androids assisting you. It's located in a real neighborhood too. So you are surrounded by Wrigleyville's charm,and local entertaiment , right at your doorstep. All of the accomodations, and amenities in the room where met. Rooms are sanitized and clean. If you are the type of person who is overly Obsessed with picky perfection then I would recommend the executive suite downtown for about a grand a night. They say you get what you pay for, but compared to other low budget hotels this is way above average. It will always be my number one choice. It is now a part of the pleasant memory I had with my freind and the event I experienced during my stay there. I am a fan of this little hide away.

The room was clean and quiet. The only thing that needed to be addressed was the noice from the A/C unit. It also seemed to struggle to cool the room adequately. But, I was only in the room for sleeping.

This BW Hawthorne Terrace is so quaint and has the amenities of a major resort. The Complimentary Breakfast was delicious with homemade cinnamon rolls that “were to die for”! Everyone was so friendly and eager to answer any questions with courtesy & respect!

Great location with convenient parking. Easy walk to Wrigley Field and the surrounding Wrigleyville. The complementary breakfast was a big hit with the kids (lots of choices including waffles)…I personally enjoyed the breakfast burritos and the coffee. We will stay again the next time we're in the area.

Just leisure to sleep after a chemo treatment. My buddy came with to make sure I didn't get sick or anything out of the ordinary happen to me. It was a relaxing evening and I felt bad the I slept and ignored him all night.

We were in town for a short visit and the hotel was in a perfect location. Our room was large, updated and very clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we needed to extend our stay. Convenient parking.

I loved this hotel. We stayed in a 2 bed suite with a kitchen. It was clean. They make great use of space. Comfy bed, bedding etc. But most of all, we were heavy front desk users with our food deliveries, tour guides coming by, lost keys, etc. and they were super nice about it. Arg can't remember front desk clerk's name but she was great. The location is great. Wonderful stay.

This is our 5th stay at Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. Hotel staff are friendly and accommodating . Rooms are clean and have helpful amenities. Great location in Lakeview/Wrigley area. Lots of walkable restaurants. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay there. The employees were very up beat and professional. I especially liked the continental breakfast bar and the Jacuzzi. Definitely one of my favorite places to stay. The location is excellent!

This is a great hotel in a great neighborhood! The hotel blends in with the surrounding buildings and is set back a bit with a cute terrace out front. There is tons of restaurants and stores and things to do within walking distance. The breakfast provided was very good as well. Sausage, eggs, waffles and the best cinnamon rolls in the known universe. Friendly staff as well.

This is a very charming and comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The kids would have loved a pool, but we gladly sacrificed that to be in such a great location. The courtyard is really beautiful on a spring morning. We will stay again.

First of all, Anna the general manager was delightful and very helpful. I was upgraded to a suite in the "annex" and my room was very nice. This is an older hotel in a residential neighborhood with old-world charm. Parking was convenient, breakfast was very good and the location is excellent in a vibrant area of Chicago. Highly recommend if you want a Chicago neighborhood experience.

Great location. I had tickets to a performance at Old Town School of Folk Music which was only 3 miles'away. Also road Divvy bikes and bird watched along Lake Michigan. There is a Whole Foods nearby as well as restaurants and anything else you might need. Free breakfast is decent, and staff is attentive and helpful.

We took a short trip to Chicago and loved our stay at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. The hotel is close enough to the city to be convenient to everything, but far enough out that things aren't packed with people and traffic. It's close to plenty of stores, restaurants, and bus stops. The room was great, they even upgraded our stay! There was no noise from the neighbors, the beds were so comfortable, and everything was upgraded and very nice. This is a great hotel!

The Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace was a great hotel for our girl's trip to Chicago to attend a Cubs game. The location was in a great neighborhood with lots of food and entertainment options. We were easily able to walk to Wrigley Field. The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. I would highly recommend!!

Truly superior customer service, charming hotel, and fabulous location. Our one bedroom suite in the Annex was exceptionally comfortable and spotless. We'll definitely be returning. The hotel would be even better if it ensured that descriptions (for instance, breakfast locations, newspapers, sauna) in promotional material and in the room are current and if it offered decaf coffee and tea at breakfast. These things, however, were very minor and the warm, eager, professional, staff made our four night visit lovely. Anna, Rhonda, and Melody went out of their way and deserve special praise.

Everyone is always helpful and courteous. They always have a wonderful breakfast and if you have any picky eaters in your group they will have options. I really enjoy this location because there is a lot to do within walking distance.

After much research we decided on the Best Western Hawthorne for our 3 day weekend in Chicago. Great boutique hotel in a great location of restaurants and shops. Easy safe walking. CVS and Mariano's within a few blocks. Clean, comfortable, very friendly staff. Rhonda the front end manager was super friendly and helpful. Thank you Rhonda!! We were able to get early check in which was awesome and we so appreciated! Check out is 11am, and our flight was in the evening, and we were able to leave our luggage until ready to go to the airport. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Chicago!!

Great location, breakfast, quaint ,near grocery, has fridge ,micro , I felt 235 a night was a bit pricey for this hotel , but the staff was great and close to Wrigley and walking distance to many attractions or food and drink.

Friendly, clean, great internet ... Even Alexa in the room. Close to Wrigleyville and Lake Shore Drive, this hotel is also surrounded by eateries, bakeries and very close to Boystown. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and down-to-earth.

I have been staying at this hotel on a weekly basis for over a year now. The location is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable and I always get a good nights sleep (I stay during the week so cannot speak to weekends). Even if I am not traveling to Chicago for business, I really like this location, many neighborhood restaurants nearby, easy access to the Wrigleyville area, Boystown, the lake, the zoo, and short Uber to downtown.

The Best Western Hawthorne Terrace is a great location in Wrigleyville, but that's all that it really has going for it. For the price point, the rooms are very rough and the entire property could use a serious refresh. The rooms are dated and showing obvious signs of wear and tear (holes in the carpeting, chipped tiles in the bathrooms; etc)

The time is 4:30 am. April 3rd 2022 I woke up early this morning and didn't want to disturb my wife's sleep so I grabbed my laptop and went to the lobby for somewhere to read. When arriving there I was greeted by the desk clerk asking " Can I help you"? I asked if I could get a cup of coffee and read in their lobby, she then told me "You can not be in the lobby because it is closed". The reason the desk person gave me was "There are a lot of drunk people that come in to the lobby at night so that is why it is closed, it opens at 5am". I was upset by this as I told her while she continued saying "The owners watch these cameras and I will get into trouble". I spent the next half hour sitting in the hallway outside my room waiting to be allowed in the lobby and to get a cup of coffee. Why do they allow Drunks in there lobby and not there guests??? And what about that 24 hour coffee they advertise??? Needless to say we will not be staying at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel ever again. One side note: The clerk had a cold/ flu or ??? and was coughing while wearing her mask round her chin, not what I call sanitary.

The hotel is at a convenient location, lots of life around, close to bus stations and red line. We felt safe to walk from the stations to the hotel at night. The staff there are attentive, the only hotel indeed arranged me a quiet room per I requested. Breakfast is also fine with quality choices. Room is clean, spacious and comfortable. By the way, next to the parking lot, there is a construction going on, they do started pretty early, and a bit annoying.

Hotel represents the area well. Ivy walls and squeezed in where you would least expect it. Great parking access from the street and great location to walk to shops, entertainment, food and Wrigley. Helpful, kind staff to greet and help out during your stay.

All staff members encountered were friendly and welcoming. Was on main floor and was pleasantly surprised how quiet my room was, less noise than my condo!! I would recommend this location to anyone traveling for business or pleasure!

Just a short visit, but was nice to have a clean and well-appointed room. Great value for the money. Reservation process was easy. Room was convenient to transportation. Parking was available and it was near the hotel, so that was an added bonus.

We stayed one night here, and it was perfect. The room and property were very clean, and the staff was very friendly. Parking could not have been better, unless it was covered, as it was steps from the front door and easy in and out. The location is excellent for anything you want to do on the north end of Chicago. We did not have plans to do anything downtown, though the location was good for getting to public transport. Easy to walk to anything you might need. Good value for our needs.

We came up for the weekend to see a show at the Briar street theatre. We were running late- front desk was more than accommodating. We walked to where we needed to go. The water is approx 2 blocks in the opposite direction. Place was clean, people were friendly. You get what you pay for… I will definitely be going back here!!!

Staff was very friendly. We ate at the Mexican restaurant next to the hotel. The food was very good. Parking us bext to the hotel and is $33.00 per day. The rooms were clean and the front desk girl (I forgot her name) was super nice and helpful. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I always stay at this hotel when going out in Boystown. I love it! Great staff, location and rooms. The front "garden" is gorgeous year round and the rooms are always clean. The parking is in an open lot right next to the hotel, which isn't the best but one cannot expect anything better based on the hotel's location.

Great room/ great location This hotel has it all classic charm with a clean modern makeover beautiful rooms super comfy plush beds! Really nice bathroom ours had a Jacuzzi tub. Great location and super gay friendly lots of gays were staying here and next-door and in the immediate area! But I will say don't wake up/or set an alarm for the breakfast -sleep in and go have brunch somewhere else. Cheap airplane OJ cheap breakfast sandwiches, cinnamon rolls muffins coffee were about it!

Parking is 30$, the facilty layout is not the best: no ramp for heavy luggage, you have to use stairs to get to the reception desk. Then you have to go out, walk and use stairs to get to your building (it was 20 degrees). When looking for parking, I called the hotel number, nobody answered. Other than that, everyting was ok. Room is small but clean, bathroom is ok. The personel is very nice.

We always stay at this hotel when we travel to Chicago. Very close to Wrigley, Lake Michigan, Southport shopping and many restaurants. The hotel staff is kind and accommodating. We love the rooms. Very spacious and we consider the beds comfortable.

I was very pleased with my 3 night stay in the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace location. This hotel is conveniently located in the middle of countless shops, restaurants and bars. I especially appreciated the parking in the adjacent lot. I was able to get a discounted rate because it's January. I would probably not stay here when rates are much higher because I am frugal.

I have been in the middle of a move from Chicago back to home, Hawthorne Terrace has been my home away from home during this difficult time. Not only do I feel at home there but my dogs do too! They are kind and professional. The breakfast is delicious to boot.

This hotel is a very nice out of downtown location. My biggest issue was an inability to sleep for two basic reasons - one of which was the room location. I was assigned Room 105. Unfortunately the room is located very close to both an elevator and the room where guests gather breakfast. As one who needs quiet when I sleep - this was the wrong room for me. To be fair, I did not request to change rooms after the first night - so I may have had the opportunity to change rooms. In addition to the morning noise issue, the room has inside shutters rather than room darkening drapery.. Again... I can't sleep with light coming in - so I'm not sure if a different room would have allowed better light blackout. Other than the sleeping issues - I liked this place. It was clean and comfortable and the desk people were nice.

The hotel accommodations were excellent, staff was pleasant and the appearance was quaint and attractive when arriving. It is located in a nice neighborhood with easy access to restaurants and shops and convenient parking. Excellent value.

Cute and comfy hotel nestled in the perfect little area! So close to Wrigley field, shopping, and lots of food options! Grocery store super close and short walk to the CTA red line station that heads downtown. We had the best time!!! Also the room itself was spectacular! Lots of natural light coming into the windows, jacuzzi tub was a life saver on the cold days.

We live in the same neighborhood as the hotel. We decided to stay for 2 nights while having work done in our home (plaster dust all over!). Check-in was quick, we got our keys and dropped our luggage in the room. It was larger than I expected with a sitting area separated from the beds by an arched wall. The room was spotless and the TV remote had been sanitized. The room was equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, mini-frig, Alexa, 2 TVs, reading lights over the beds, a safe in the closet and a good walk-in shower. They had free wi-fi. The room decor was a bit dreary: dark wood furniture and neutral but dull colors. The lamps were a bit odd with shades that were either too big or too small for their bases. There were plenty of outlets for charging electronic devices. The beds were comfortable. We walked over to the hotel around 9 pm each night from our home. There were quite a few people out on the streets at that hour, so we felt quite safe. We did not have their free breakfast. We looked in, though, and saw that the food is set out in a narrow L-shaped area adjacent to the lobby. The set-up is unfortunate during COVID as it's hard to maintain any kind of social distancing there. There are a few tables in the lobby to eat at.

Parking is $33 a night. Website says $25 but that excludes rax. Note construction next door and large trucks park wantonly in lot and will pin you in. Staff not real friendly. Not handicap friendly at all.

This hotel is conveniently located and looks like it may be charming on the outside—stay away! Noisy heaters and refrigerators even after moving rooms. The mattress near the window in room 204 was so saggy it should have been thrown out years ago. Between the mattress, the carts in the housekeeping area, elevator noise and inconvenient narrow hallway where breakfast was located and the unfriendly breakfast attendant who blocked the area daily during breakfast hours, we will not be back.

It's a surprisingly modern hotel in the heart of lakeview. The staff did everything they could to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast was more than I would have anticipated and was kept stocked the entire time.

I had the opportunity to spend a Tuesday night at this hotel in October 2021. I absolutely loved it! My check-in process went smoothly, my room (#302) was clean and comfortable, and the location in the Boystown area was excellent. I loved the indoor hot tub, and I appreciated being able to use the business center computer for surfing the Internet. I can't speak to the breakfast because I ended up grabbing breakfast elsewhere on Wednesday morning, but I would gladly stay here again! I really enjoyed my stay.

This boutique hotel with its ample continental breakfast, is a comfortable refuge from all the trekking one does in Chicago. Close to excellent restaurants and transport options to visit all parts of Chicago. Highly recommend.

The room amenities were fantastic. It came with a complete kitchen set up with a small stove and dishwasher. The bed was very comfortable. My only disappointment was that we were staying in the annex, which is a separate building; so to use the whirlpool, sauna, fitness equipment and to have breakfast meant going outside to the other building.

hvac didn't work from the time I checked in. 3 nights. was not offered to change rooms. front desk man-bun said he'd open the window for me so the room would cool down while i was out. when I returned the thermostat and ac unit were still not working, window was closed and he didn't leave a msg/voicemail as to why he did not follow through. i was already disappointed that I completed the entire travel agent rewards program so that I could get the preferred industry rate. This property does not recognize of honor their own BW travel agent rewards program.

Such a quaint Boutique hotel. The courtyard was festively decorated for Halloween - my favorite time of year! Reception and Breakfast Room staff were courteous. Rooms were very clean and gave you ample space for a “boutique” hotel. Parking can be “tight” as several cars were double parked. We walked everywhere so not a problem for us as the car stayed in same spot during entire stay. Lots of restaurants nearby, gorgeous tree lined streets, parks, harbors close by if you like to walk, run or sight-see. I definitely recommend this property.

This is a nice clean hotel that is near boystown. Many restaurants and bars and clubs within walking distance so no Uber needed. It's nice that parking is self park on site and the price for parking is reasonable . Friendly staff made it a enjoyable stay.

I would have stayed 3 nights but they more than doubled rate on weekend (price gouging) Unfriendly front desk (uncaring , uninviting) I was not aware of parking fees before check-in, & had no other options.

Loved the location near Wrigley and the price point. Staff was pleasant, helpful & efficient. The only problem was beds in the room with two double beds were in bad shape & needed to be replaced. For me that's important.

Manager is unhelpful, rude, and doesn't listen. Won't refund my $108 “security deposit” they charged because they can't find it in their system. My bank found three transactions from them and only two cleared. Still missing $100 and it's been over two weeks. The shower was broken, the staff doesn't care, and I paid the price of two nights for one. Be very wary of staying here.

This hotel is a small gem in the middle of a great Chicago neighborhood. It has a small courtyard in front of the ivy covered main building. So nice to sit with friends and enjoy the city. The rooms are good size and hardwood floors made nice change from the normal boring carpet. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel and rooms were very clean. No restaurant/bar in the hotel, but plenty of nice places with in a block or two. Highly recommend this hotel.

I stay at this hotel very regularly for work and have done so since March of this year. I have been so impressed by the friendly and very accommodating front desk staff. The hotel is always spotlessly clean. It may not be the most modern of hotels but it it one of the cleanest i have stayed at. Location is convenient to the lake and Wrigley with lots of nearby restaurants and bars (for those with the time to enjoy)

Everything was great! When I checked in, the front desk staff was great. When I checked out, the front desk staff was great! Breakfast is what you would expect at a Best Western and that's why I try to stay at Best Western's, because I know what to expect and I like it. This hotel is a little pricey, but it was in a convenient location for me. I WILL stay here again

This was a wonderful surprise in a great location. Just a short walk to Wrigley Field or the Lake, and a dozen good restaurants right out the door on Broadway. The hotel is in an older building but it's super-clean and tastefully decorated inside. Very pleasant patio out front with shade trees. It has all the charm of a boutique hotel but with the reliability and efficiency you'd expect from Best Western. Big thumbs up.

Very good experience. We went to a concert at Wrigley Field and staying here made it seemless with being able to park at the hotel and walk. Good food options within walking distance also. Will do it again

The staff were accommodating and pleasant. The hotel was very clean!! It was nice having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Complimentary bottles of water each day was nice! Location is great. We loved our stay!!

I was thrilled to find a room at this hotel when I was in Chicago in July to drop my son off for his first job post-college. It's in a great neighborhood; has a lovely patio; charming guestrooms; and a helpful, friendly staff. The only reason I may not return is that it can get very expensive at times during the summer, due to its proximity to Wrigley Field. But it is a gem of a hotel!

Awesome location. Close and convenient to shops and evening outings. Outside of building and courtyards were beautiful. Walking distance to bars and restaurants. Parking was not over charged and the hotel environment was overall clean.

For $500/night I expected more. My car was vandalized in the hotel parking lot ($7,000 in damage), and only then do they tell you that the lot is not part of the hotel property. At first hotel management seemed to be interested in helping by reviewing/providing the security camera footage for insurance purposes. After we checked out, they went silent and ignored my emails. The hotel did not have the decency to refund the parking fee of $35/night.

Short walk to Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan. 2 King Bed suite like an cozy apartment living in neighborhood. Clean, modern, comfortable. Free breakfast. Rent bikes, enjoy coffee and donuts right outside your door. We would stay here again.

I had to make a last minute reservation for a place to say. I am so glad this popped up. This is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at near Loyola Chicago. You walk into a quaint garden area with tables and chairs for outdoor seating. Inside, the hotel is gorgeous and immaculately clean, Check-in was easy and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Our room was amazing. The seating area was perfect and the furniture extremely comfortable. The bed area had 2 sets of lights, one of which were small reading lights. Alexa was everywhere. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was unique. For the cost, this place is a steal. DEFINITELY will be staying here again!

The Hawthorne is the perfect place for me to stay with my elderly Mom while visiting in Chicago. It's very close to my family's home and 2 great restaurants are right across the street. The parking lot adjacent to the building made is so convenient and well worth the charge. I have stayed here in the past and will be staying here eery time I need a nice place while visiting Chicago.

I came to the city of Chicago looking to spend time with family on the Memorial Holiday Weekend. I would not recommend staying at the Best Western Hawthorn Terrace at all. Here are my reasonings why. When I first arrived I waited 30 minutes to check in and there was only one person in front of me. I just thought I needed to be patient and wait my turn, but my thought was this is not a good thing. I then asked if there was any places they would recommend to go get dinner around the hotel. The response I got was very rude and he said “Honey, you are in Chicago and there are tons of places to go to”. This was no help to me and I thought it was very rude. When I got into the hotel room, I noticed there was a whole front piece of the bath tub just falling off. I did not want to be picky but I thought this was very odd. I then a little later when to take a bath in said tub, and only maybe 2 of the jets that were in it were working properly. This is unacceptable considering the price that I was paying to stay in this room for one night. I then continued my night and went to see my family and go shopping. Then to my surprise, I had lost my car and house keys. This was very upsetting to me, as it was the one thing that I needed to be able to leave the hotel when the time came. Then here I am the next morning upon checkout. I am searching high and low for my keys and could not find them. I did what I needed to do and got all of my stuff out of the room. I told the front desk staff the situation that I was in and they were very rude AGAIN and failed to accommodate any needs that I had. I then got to my car that I could not get into. I put my luggage underneath my car so that I could go and find food somewhere and get my bearings on everything that was happening. I even retraced my steps of everywhere I had been the night before and unfortunately I was unable to locate my keys. I then go back to the hotel and told them the predicament that I was in. I asked several times if someone had turned in or found any keys. Every time that I asked them, I was looked at as if I was a crazy person. This is when I started to get very upset and panicky. I could not believe that anyone would not have compassion or offerings for more accommodations that I was willing to pay for. I even had mentioned that I may need to get a room for another night. This opportunity they had was completely ignored. I spent 7 hours after that trying to figure out what I could do, calling locksmiths or anyone that could help me get my car running. I then noticed while I was in my car that the same front desk people were coming out to check for people that had proper parking paperwork in their cars. I just had a feeling that this was bad. In the end, I had a good friend of mine that was coming to drive my spare keys to me from over 3 hours away. I had to wait an entire 9 hours by my car in that parking lot, and throughout the day going to different stores of businesses just to get food, go to the bathroom etc. I can't believe I was not even offered to be able to sit in the lobby, use the bathroom, offered a room that I WOULD have paid for. I paid $363 for the room through Expeidia, which I thought was high, but was willing to pay this because it seemed like such a nice place and location wise worked well for me. After I returned home (FINALLY) and checked my bank account online, I was VERY upset to see additional charges form the hotel. Charges that I was NOT notified about or have any receipt for. All in all, I would NOT EVER recommend this hotel based on all of the above, but most of all the customer service (or evidently lack thereof). If I was to put myself in their shoes and had someone desperately looking for help, I would NEVER treat anyone that way. I hope this hotel, their management and their staff learn from this. I hope no one ever has to be treated this way when they are in an unfamiliar place, especially such a big city. The WORST experience with Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. I am still so very sick to my stomach writing this today but am so happy I was able to get through this thanks to my friend/family. To be clear, do not think anyone at this hotel cares about you or your stay while you are with them, very sad/disappointing/ heartless ☹

We stayed three nights at this lovely hotel. Some parts are older, but in a charming way. For instance, there was a nice fireplace in the lobby with nearby chairs and sofa that made an appealing spot to enjoy coffee or read for a bit. Updates were done where it matters, like a modern walk-in shower and bathroom area. And I was impressed that there was a smart speaker in the room. We will definitely stay here again.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and they mattress was very comfortable. I liked the solid surface flooring. Be careful in the shower - slippery tub! The television did not work well; the channels kept breaking up/pixelating. The hotel reloaded the channels but the problem continued without resolution. Was not fixed for our second night.

Checked in to property, was placed in room 215 that has toilet issues as well as a broken safe. Asked for assistance was ignored. Wrote email to General Manager tester early afternoon and still haven' heard one word or telephone call.

Very nice small hotel that was close to many amenities. I could leave my car in the lot and walk to many places. And the rate of the lot was great and included in and out privileges, which in Chicago are getting harder and harder to find. I had read some reviews saying the room decor was outdated and bad, but my room was very up-to-date and looked to be recently renovated. I will definitely stay here again

So stayed in 306 this past weekend with 2 friends. These are double beds, so a bit cozy....if ya know what I mean. Our room was nicely appointed and would have been OK if there were 2 people in it in my opinion...our fault, you aught to know. The walls (?) or ceiling are thin thin thin. Noise from somewhere kept us up both nights. It seemed to be from directly above us. Super stompy. Like not sure—at first it was the footsteps, then seemed like voices or a TV? We did talk to the front desk the 2nd night, but they really couldn't find the issue. Great location, might stay here but bring melatonin. And adjoining rooms!

I booked a king suite for $240. I was told it was a double king suite before I paid. When I arrived they gave me my room key and told me I would be in a different building next door. I brought all of my luggage and pets to my room, and when I arrived I noticed I was given a room with only one bed. It wasn't really a big deal to me because I only needed one. While unpacking I almost fell through the floor! I am only 170 lbs for reference. Many floor boards were caving in and they were cracking and bending far down when walked on. All they offered was my $25 parking fee to be credited back to my account for this issue. At midnight while walking to the bathroom the flooring scraped my foot. When I called a second time about this I was told there is nowhere for me to be moved to, and to call the manager in the morning. I stayed pretty still for the remainder of my stay, in fear it would get worse. This was not a good birthday getaway experience. When I called the manager she said she has no idea why the man at the desk did not take care of this for me, “because he use to be the GM, but that's another story” then laughed. Very unprofessional. I looked this hotels reviews up at this time. To my disbelief 8+ months ago guests reviewed the suite rooms saying there were cracking floor boards. The manager actually thought offering me 15% off of a smaller room for $239 would be good compensation for this. I didn't want to stay at this location any longer. When checking out, we told the manager how unsatisfied we were and she actually raised her voice in front of other guests, and gave us a thumbs up in response and said “have a nice day”. Very unprofessional manager when issues arrise.

We love the hotel for their pet friendly amenity. Surprisingly, our pet felt at home, usually he's so anxious when we are in hotels during out travels. And another thing, location was really great, a lot of resto walking distance as in just around the hotel and SB is nearby. Great accommodating staffs. Great experience, we will definitely stay here in our next travels.

Please do! This place is the hotel in the historic neighborhood once known to Chicagoans as Boystown. It's perfectly placed in the Gayest area of the neighborhood. The hotel itself doesn't cater to gays as I've witnessed all types of people using the common areas and enjoying their breakfast. The two gentlemen that work at the front desk are what makes this place pop. They always go above and way beyond what a front desk agent or manager should be in my eyes. They are part of the reason I enjoy staying there.

This hotel isn't the worst but for the price it should be a lot better. The beds are terrible, sleeping on the floor would be more comfortable. Rooms aren't very clean and all the sinks are clogged. The nastiest thing is that all 3 rooms I stayed in last week had mold everywhere in the bathroom.

This hotel Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace was outstanding the customer service is outstanding, the room was bigger then I thought it would be. The room was clean and comfortable. Great place to stay will stay there again if ever in Chicago it is in a great location.

Stayed for a week while our daughter was recovering from surgery at Advocate Masonic. It was a very nice place - clean, friendly and walking distance to the hospital and so many great restaurants and shops. It had all the amenities we neeeded.

My family took our first trip since the pandemic started just over one week ago. The occasion for this trip was to visit my son, his wife and our first grandchild (Enzo Michael) just over 3 months after he was born. Ordinarily we would have been in Chicago within a few days of Enzo's birth but few things are normal as of now, the fifth month of COVID-19. Typically we fly to Chicago but this trip we took a 14 hour car ride to keep us in a safety bubble away from passengers and other travelers who could be carrying the virus. All in all, except for I-70 West in Indiana, our drive was very enjoyable. We had our sights set on the Hotel Zachary across from Wrigley Field as we really enjoyed our stay there when we were in Chicago last fall but the hotel is still closed due to COVID-19. I spent several hours exhaustively looking for alternate hotels and finally settled on the Best Western Hawthorne and my wife and I are absolutely delighted that we did! The Best Western offered us an early check in before 1100 am ($25 charge) but it was a wise decision as we were also upgraded to a suite and it was a gem of a deal! We had 2 queen beds in 2 rooms along with a kitchenette and sitting area! Very clean, exceptionally cool in the 90 degree plus Chicago temperatures and the wooden shutters kept our rooms favorably darkened allowing us to sleep in to our hearts content. Very close to Jewels Grocery store to stock the kitchen and a flawless living environment. We will now plan on staying at the Best Western Hawthorn as our preferred hotel when in Chicago and Hotel Zachary in 2nd place. It's very clean, very modern, hospitable with easy access to free parking, pubs, eateries etc. All that can be asked for when on a Chicago vacation!!

We were greeted warmly by the check in staff upon arrival. They explained clearly the protocol of staying at the hotel during the pandemic and apologized for the fact that no breakfast would be served. We had problems with the TV not receiving a signal but it was rectified after notifying the staff on duty. The only major issue for us was the pillows. Very soft and offered no support. Next time we stay we will know to bring our own.

While it's in a great location and the service representatives at the desk seem like lovely people - it's really hard to recommend this property after a guest of mine stayed here. He found blood stains on his sheets, the coffee maker in the room was broken, he said other guests in the hotel were extremely loud and rowdy, and when he was told there was "breakfast" he was offered a bag with a banana, granola bar, and a drink that didn't quite pass as orange juice. Guest services did not appear to be empowered to adequately respond to his complaints. Overall, it was embarrassing to put a guest up here - and for the price (especially during an off-time) I was surprised to hear how many issues he encountered.

Very convenient location for me in the middle of Lincoln Park neighborhood. Close to great restaurants, stores, and public transit. Charming historic building and would definitely stay here again.....

I can't say enough good things about how helpful the staff was. There were issues with the reservation of our own making. GM Abdiel straightened it out for us without a glitch. Because of the COVID19 shutdown, we left town early. They couldn't have been more accommodating. This was the perfect location for us for the family event we were attending nearby. It is on the Northside. I saw and used 2 entries to the front desk lobby; neither looked ADA compliant

This is a nice hotel just didn't think I would have to pay for parking,there is no pool if you have kids. This is a beautiful place nice neighborhood minutes away from Wrigley Field (walking) just a few minor problems

Very close and convenient for our places of interest. Quiet hotel and rooms. Can park the car and basically walk to everything on our plan. Bed and bathroom were comfortable and clean. Nice water pressure in shower

Second time at this hotel, always a solid choice. Reservation easy and quick. Arrived and checked in straight away and up to room. Hotel is in a great neighborhood full of restaurants, bars and shops. Love this area. Easy to get downtown (easy walk to the Red Line, or to LSD and the express bus). Room was large and well laid out with comfortable bed, desk and large TV on a cabinet. Closet contained needed iron, board and safe. Bathroom was fine with great towels and amenities. While there was good hot water, water pressure could have been better. Included breakfast included good selection of hot and cold items. Only seating area was lobby area, so be aware of that. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. Check out was quick and easy. That said, there were some areas of improvement. TV worked for about 10 minutes, then never worked again over the 3 day stay. It was pixelating the entire time, no picture nor sound. Internet was extremely slow and spotty. I kept having to reconnect and resign in repeatedly which made any work impossible. Room was near the front of the hotel on the second floor (just over the lobby and check in desk actually) so near the elevator. Hallway noise including elevator beeping was heard all day/night. All in all a good stay and would consider the property next time in Chicago due to location and comfort only. Hope they can work on the other minor challenges.

I used to live right across the street from this hotel, so it was my first choice when I wanted to visit! The hotel was clean and in a great area, and the staff went above and beyond! We loved our stay

This was our second stay within a month. The staff is well trained, courteous, and friendly. All requests and special needs were handled quickly and efficiently The facilities were quiet, comfortable and very well maintained. Minor items I observed (but did not report due their insignificance) needing repair on the first visit had been attended to three weeks later. I intend on returning as a guest in the future.

We were very happy with this hotel. Newly remodeled, great shower, clean, great bed, friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast could have been better but it was free so for something fast I couldn't complain too much.

The location is very good for persons who wish to visit North Halsted Street and Broadway's store, restaurants and other attractions; the parking garage next door is much appreciated. Broadway is quieter than Halsted. I slept a solid 8 hours in a very comfortable bed, enjoyed a good shower and a tasty breakfast. I hope to enjoy this hotel again soon.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the Lakeview area of Chicago. The desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are attractive and spotless. The complimentary breakfast was a treat with amazing cinnamon rolls!

We have stayed at the Best Western Hawthorne Suites a number of times. Being close to our son when we visit Chicago, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. We love the neighborhood! We can use the buses to get anywhere in the city, including the express 146 to the Loop. The Broadway bus runs late into the night and the L stations are nearby as well. The hotel is well run, breakfast has many choices, and the staff is great. They have parking but we never rent a car in Chicago. Public transportation is the way to go! The hotel is a short walk to the lake with its walking and bike paths, nature areas, and beaches.

It is rare that we have an extended stay in a hotel. This time was an exception. We never expected that our stay at the Hawthorne Hotel would be as amazing. From the accommodations, to the staff and even the breakfast, all far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back when we return to Chicago!

A two night stay while visiting relatives that live in Roscoe Village...so much more convenient and less expensive than staying downtown, especially with their unlimited in and out garage. Room was clean with comfortable linens and had new decor. Shower was fantastic. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel and in a great location close to some popular spots for the north side of Chicago. The staff on site very friendly and welcoming to their guest. I usually don't do breakfast at hotels but if it anything like the way everything else was I am sure to say they offer good options for breakfast.

The staff at this hotel are friendly and lovely. They accommodated for an early check-in and were helpful at breakfast. I stayed for two nights and had difficulty breathing due to the poor ventilation in my room and throughout the hotel. As soon as you enter the lobby there is a musty smell. The bad smell continues in the hallways and was especially poor in my bedroom. The floors are carpeted and the furniture of the room is mostly vinyl so it is unclear where the smell is coming from. I left with a congested chest and nose. I worry for the longterm health of the staff.

The staff were friendly and took good care of us. The rooms were comfortable and well serviced. I did notice two things that did become slight annoyances during the stay, but not enough that I wouldn't come back again. The main issue was that the doors on our room seemed to be slightly crooked, preventing them from latching properly and sometimes causing them to hit or rub on the frame. This could lead to thinking you had shut and locked the door but it could still be opened. The more minor issue was that the wiring for the one light and the fan in the bathroom seemed to be switched around. The main light on the bathroom was on a timer and the exhaust fan on a switch instead of the other way around.

When in Chicago, my family and I have stayed at Hawthorne Terrace for many years. The rooms are truly comfortable and the location offers plenty to do. The staff is exceptional and remembers me each time I visit. Thanks again, Hawthorne Terrace!

This was my first visit to a Best Western Hotel and it was a very positive experience. I stayed at the hotel over a weekend with my wife and two kids. We stayed in a 2 King Suite. The room was large, modern and clean. There was a kitchen with a small fridge, a very nice bathroom and a living room-like area with a sofa and desk. The beds were comfortable and they even gave us extra duvets - a request that has often met with resistance at five star hotels. The staff were lovely. They all seemed to really care for the guests and were very professional. The front desk staff greeted us with a smile upon arrival and kept the smile through the entire visit. I also liked to see that they all seemed to help each other out as needed - teamwork! They serve a free breakfast with plenty of good food options. It was not fancy - but met all of my needs very well: cereal, yogurt, granola, breads and pastries, juice, and a few hot options. Many kids seemed to be enjoying the waffle maker. The cost was exceptionally good given all the above. Overall, a really perfect experience that exceeded all my expectations. I hope other Best Western Hotels are this good.

Great staff, room, location, parking! Large room, clean, loved the vinyl wood flooring. Perfect location for activities in boystown. Very pleasant staff. And inexpensive parking right next door with easy access.

Get location, great property, great service. Easy walk to the lake, or local town. Parking is super convenient and plenty of it. Nice to have hot coffee in the lobby all the time. Bed was great. Overall very charming hotel with very nice staff, will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family!

Horrible '"amenities". Loud, terrible sleep. Front desk left a lot to be desired. First check in attendant was cold and rude, over night was non existent. I called 3 timest the first night due to Xmas music blaring through the walls between midnight and 6 am The location, the exterior and the cleaning staff were all above par, but with so many other options (and having stayed at many nearby options in the opas) it was just a terrible stay.

Came for a friend's Christmas party. Wonderful location. Super friendly staff. Room was spacious and clean. Wonderful breakfast. Loved walking around on Broadway. Everything you could want was there. I had a great time and Chicago was so fun. Gay friendly and tons of people walking dogs. I was in heaven.

I stay at this hotel frequently. Everyone that works here is so nice and helpful. My only advice is make sure you aren't in a room close to the fitness center. The rooms close to it are across from the maintenance room and there is a lot of talking and activity there. If you like to return to your room for an afternoon siesta it's impossible to block out the noise. Otherwise this place is wonderful!

Clean room, nice continental breakfast. They were still cleaning our room when we arrived, so that slowed things down a bit, but nothing awful. Kind staff! The room was very nice, and it's location is very convenient to where we needed to be and where we wanted to go. Only downside, no pool!

Clean, quaint, right within walking distance to boystown with really good food options around. This place is basically two building plus a parking garage. The main building has a cute little patio as you walk in. Open the main doors and you take a couple of steps down to the reception area where the attendant checks you in, hands you ur room card and sends you on your way - no surprises here. Room 106 is supposed to come with a king size bed, looks more like a queen size so we requested a change. They sent us to what they call the annex. It is right next door - no connection inside so you have to walk right back out but it's no big deal. Anyways, the room was identical to the first one we were given, except this one did have a king size bed! Room was nice, with a nice bathroom. Spacious, nicely done in a modern contemporary feel. The bathroom has one of those rain type shower heads or if you prefer, you can use the handheld shower head. Go for the rain shower one. Water comes out with a good pressure too. When we stayed they were featuring citrus flavored shampoo and soap: yumm!! Left you feeling and smelling refreshed!

Great stay in one of the suites. Every possible convenience is within walking distance of the hotel. Restaurants, bars, grocery, cleaners, pizza, etc. Used Uber and super quick and cheap! $10 to downtown. Room was spacious, quiet and clean. We liked being out of downtown but only 10 minutes away. Nice safe neighborhood for walking and near the Lake.

This is an older hotel in a very nice part of town, and by older, I mean that the building obviously has a grand History and is attractive. The interior (halls/carpets etc)does need a wee bit of updating, but is very clean and well-kept. The rooms are very comfortable. And the staff is just the best, very helpful! They made my stay easy and enjoyable. I was quite hungry and tired, they directed me to a place a very short walk nearby that had great (truly great) burgers and pub-brews. I would stay here again when I visit friends in Chicago.

The hotel is cozy, clean and comfortable, location is close to public transportation, surrounded by eatery and basic needed shops. I enjoyed my 4 nights stay at this hotel and sure if I visit Chicago again I will choose same hotel.

We were in the Chicago North Shore area for a wedding and this hotel was one of several that were recommended by the bride and groom who are full time residents in that area. It was definitely not cheap at $275 a night, however it was comparable to the other hotels and included a wonderful breakfast that had some variety every day along with the standard breakfast fare. There were some amazing Halloween decorations around the front entrance courtyard. We had asked for an early Check-in as we had early flights into Chicago. The excellent front desk staff were able to store our luggage so we could explore the neighborhood. There is a wonderful breakfast-bakery restaurant across the street called Ann Sather that we dined in for a late breakfast. When we returned, our rooms were ready for an 11:30 am Check-in. The rooms are very large and completely updated with modern furnishings and a large shower. There is a nice large screen TV, a microwave oven, a pod coffee machine and a refrigerator in the room with Wi Fi. The bed was comfortably firm with nice linens. The breakfast bar is located just behind the lobby and a small guest computer room that has a waffle maker, assorted muffins, a toaster for the bagels and English Muffins and a hot food bar that has sausage and omelets one day and bacon and fried eggs the next. There is a refrigerator with milk for the variety of cereals, yogurt, juices and some sharp cheese bars. There was excellent regular and decaf coffee with lids available for a go cup. There was one outstanding breakfast bar feature and that was Armando, who was like the Lobby Boy in the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. He is everywhere and yet nowhere. It was surprising how Armando showed up with more baked muffins, English Muffins and Bread, more yogurt, juice, fruit, Waffle mix eggs, bacon, sausage etc. just as the supplies were running low, but were not out. I watched the breakfast bar area while waiting on family in the lobby and saw a flash of Armando dashing in and quickly assessing what was going to be needed and then returning with the food. Every hotel everywhere needs an Armando, who is one of the hardest working employees that I have ever seen!!!! The Bottom Line: The modern rooms, the wonderful breakfast bar and the hard working staff made for an excellent 2 night stay in a convenient location. There was one short term and one long term item that need some remediation. The straight walkway into the lobby takes you into a tough to open front door that is at the top of several curved steps inside with barely enough space to actually get your luggage into the door without falling down the stairs. We saw many customers struggle with this when it could easily be remedied with a sign out front that takes you down a curved sidewalk to the left that enters at the lobby level. This is the handicapped entrance, however it was not marked at all. We used this approach as did the other customers once they discovered it and were happy during our stay. The longer term issue would incorporate a small remodeling of the lobby by taking some space away from the office behind the front desk and moving the computer room there. Then open up the lobby to accommodate additional seating and tables for the guests. Overall these did not detract much from the wonderful visit in a well-run hotel with hard working staff that are customer focused in a convenient location and that is The Bottom Line.

This was a very well maintained hotel in a charming brick building in the heart of one of Chicago's close in neighborhoods. Great location -- easy walk to shops, restaurants, etc. Friendly staff and very clean accommodations.

All of the perks of an AirBnB with the security and service of a trusted hotel brand. Loved the suite design and amenities. Had a complete small kitchen with dishes and cookware. Even has a dining table. Beds were comfortable and shower was excellent. Loved the hardwood floors instead of creepy/dirty feeling carpet.

Booked two nights in a deluxe king room with a jetted tub. The room was facing the front/street with quite a few windows and had a sofabed, chair, desk, microwave, refrigerator, and TV. The bathroom was very nice and had a shower/jetted tub combo big enough for myself to fit in comfortably (I'm 6'1"). My fiancé stayed with me and we both slept very well in the comfortable king bed. Breakfast was very nice, yet simple. Large choice of beverages, hot food, and wonderful cinnamon rolls from the Swedish restaurant nearby. I will definitely stay here again. Staff, however, should ask how a guest's stay was when they check-out so they can hear these wonderful comments in-person. The staff who did my check-out was on the phone and had them hold to take care of me and then resumed the call after I walked away, so they were probably busy.

We have stayed at this location several times visiting our son who goes to DePaul University. It is located in a great area, with safe parking garage. Rooms in updated building are fantastic. Free breakfast offers both hot and cold options. Would highly recommend.

On arrival we were happy to be checked in pretty quickly and staff were attentive and gave over information on bars & restaurants nearby Our room 302 was spacious , clean , tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable and we duly enjoyed the three night stay plus the breakfasts were good which included different hot dishes along with Cereals , Fruit & Coffee Overall this property is in a safe neighborhood which offers an abundance of Shops , Supermarkets and good choice of restaurants Would come back again on another visit

We were upgraded to an extremely nice room 321. The decor was great. the bathroom as nice as our house. It was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend the hotel and in particular the room 321.

The beds and pillows in this hotel were the best I've ever had! I love the decor and the modern updates to the rooms.The location is perfect if you have family living in the Lakeview area of Chicago. There are so many restaurants and stores to visit.

I enjoyed my stay here. It was my first time visiting Chicago. This hotel is professionally run, the staff are helpful and friendly. My suite was large, with two beds and a 'pull out' couch. The bed I used was comfortable. Nice kitchenette with fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The bathroom was nice with a large shower (no tub). The suite was clean and everything in good working order. Room was quiet (328). The hotel is in a vibrant neighborhood. Many good restaurants in walking distance. Easy to get into downtown Chicago with nearby bus stops. The next time I visit Chicago, this will be the first hotel I consider.

Exceptional service from all staff and outstanding value at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace on N. Broadway in Chicago. We consider ourselves fortunate to have made this our go place when we visit Chicago.

Most travel sites rate this hotel at 2 ...I would give this a solid 3+. Comfort bed , new clean rooms ...fair breakfast, safe environment and lots of eating and entertaining opportunity. Definitely recommend..

The hotel location was perfect for visiting Wrigley Field to take in a ballgame. We were able to walk back and forth from the stadium without any issues. To be honest, traffic was a nightmare around the stadium after the game, so walking was the best option. Parked at the hotel site for an additional $39 a night. Expensive, but they have the best location in reference to the park. The rooms were large and very clean. Staff was extremely nice and informative on local restaurants for dining options. Very safe and comfortable area. Would definitely stay here again when we attend another Cubs game.

the hotel is very nice and I can't believe how reasonable the price was. There was parking right next door and the parking rate was fair. I also enjoyed that there are many restaurants and coffee shops right out the front door. I will definitely stay there again.

Our daughter lives nearby and there really aren't a lot of choices...but this was a gem I found on Trip Advisor! So many eateries and shopping in walking distance! The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating!! My room was large and while there is no view, to find such a nice hotel for $150 / night in Chicago is awesome!! And the breakfast was great! I'll be back!!!

Staff was helpful - especially since we had to switch rooms due to toilet always refilling (nonstop). However each room, we had two were dark. The first faced the parking garage cement block wall (3'rd floor), the second, faced the front street but was covered with ivy. floors in his room were of some peeling veneer flooring. Also, I have to say, breakfast sucked: pre-made cheese egg folds and potatoes. also waffles. cereals and sugar overload pastries. for me no bueno.

Hotel was very nice. Room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The hotel wa in a convenient location and close the Wrigley Field. The only complaint I have is the breakfast area was tight. Only one person at a time could put together a plate.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating in every way! I would definitely recommend! It's in a great location that is safe and close to a lot of amenities. It is in walking distance to many shops and restaurants and the stadium.

Great location. Importnat things first; One block to the south is a SBux and Wrigley Field is about half mile to north. Lots of great dining options within walking distance of BW. Hotel itself is getting old but still works. Floor in my room needs repair, but not a show stopper. Hot tub was awesome and fitness equip, like most hotels, is outdated but doable. I recommend this BW and will visit again

There are few hotel choices in this part of Chicago, and we have tried them all. The Best Western Hawthorne Terrace is the best. The location is perfect, near Wrigley Field, the Addison redline stop, both the Addison and Broadway buses, as well as the express bus to the Loop and museums along Lakeshore DR. There are many good restaurants and bars close by.

We stayed here two nights while attending a funeral in Chicago--a beautiful setting, a beautiful building, outstanding service! Our room was spacious, the linens and towels fresh and sparkling. The whole room was sparkling clean! Staff were friendly, helpful, polite--everything was first rate.

Picked this hotel for its proximity to Wrigley Field so we could easily walk to a Cubs game and we would stay here again. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was great, comfortable and clean. Wi-Fi good. Lovely neighbourhood with lots of bars and restaurants. It is a way from the city - we weren't very organised in arranging things to and should have booked ahead - so we decided to walk into the city through Lincoln Park and then along Lake Michigan and through the centre to Millenium Park - it took a good 2 hours or so. We got an Uber back which was around $10. There are also buses and the Red Line is close to Wrigley Field.

This is a cute, clean hotel in a great location. I can't wait to return! It's really an apartment, and it's next to Wrigley, the El, bars and restaurants. We were able to park and walk everywhere, but the El station was nearby also, so we could have ventured into downtown, but the surrounding neighborhood had so many options, we chose not to.

My son and I came to watch the Cubs. We ate a nice breakfast every morning before we walked to Wrigley Field. It's an easy walk even for an old lady. We watched the game and then walked back. There are lots of good places to eat right around the hotel. We slept well in our rooms too, so we were ready to go the next morning.

Because I am a light sleeper I requested the top floor. That was a mistake as the hum from the roof top air conditioner came through the wall that the bed was up against. SO after trying to take a short nap which didn't work I called the front desk. They were there in less than two minutes with three other rooms for me to check out. The one on the floor right below was perfect and a copy of the one we had been in. Staff was absolutely wonderful: cheerful, helpful and anxious to please. Breakfast was nice with lots of choices. Really a delightful experience. Although a bit on the pricey side my son lives within 1/2 mile from this hotel so it is convenient. This will be my go-to hotel along with an older one that is cheaper but is a tad bit further away.

I was quoted a price for the room at $305 after discount, when I booked the room. I asked that a confirmation be emailed to me at that time, (which I never received). After I checked out, I asked for a printed receipt. That's when I saw the price was $395 for the night. When I asked about the price and discount, I was told "That is the price now WITH the discount". BEWARE IF YOU STAY AT THIS HOTEL! After taxes I was overcharged more than $100.

My expectations for this stay were pretty high I guess based on the previous reviews here, But there were some big issues with my stay. The first issue I noticed was that it was impossible to regulate the HVAC. It was always too cold or too hot. I finally just had to turn it off one night to be able to sleep. Second, was that the internet was just "ok" and frequently would disconnect. Third was that the TV service was horrible. I could only get one of the major networks and then only after I called the front desk to find out there was a special combination for using the remote to enter the channel number. Just scrolling up and down through the channels didn't work. The last and biggest issue was that on the day before I checked out, I found a centipede crawling through my bed. I travel a lot for business and that was a first. A call to the front desk and they had maintenance up a couple of hours later to check it out. They also discounted my last night but I think that was the least they could have done. They should have offered to move me to a different room. The thoughts of that sight still creep me out. Breakfast was ok but was served in a VERY tiny space that I heard other guest complaining about. This hotel was so much potential with the location. Too bad the didn't live up to it.

This property is built into an old building but has been renovated and is quite nice. No pool or restaurant, but serves an average free breakfast. The bathrooms are quite bright, and modern with a walk-in shower (no tub). We had an end unit with windows on two sides (no view but nice for air and light).

Stayed here after a Cubs game. They were able to check us in about an hour early. The hotel lobby and courtyard is very cute and quaint. This hotel is about 10-15 minute walk to Wrigley field. Very convenient. Our room was very nice and clean it had wanted looked like original hardwood flooring. Breakfast was small but good. Cinnamon rolls were delicious!!

Wonderful location. We have stayed here several times and the staff members are always very kind and accomodating. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Good breakfast. Nice outdoor patio area for breakfast or drinks in the evening.

So I recently stayed here for a Cubs game. I'm from out of town and did not want a huge hassel trying to find parking. There is a garage next door, and it's like a 10-15 minute walk to Wrigley Field. Nice neighborhood and check in and out was smooth. We will be coming back to this hotel again!

The staff was very pleasant throughout. The staff was always smiling and friendly. There were a few things off but overall it was a great experience. The hot breakfast options are minimal and breakfast was put away before the stated time one morning. Pillow and bed don't provide the support we are use to having.

Great location to be near all the fun things to do in Wrigleyville. The hotel has brownstone charm and makes you feel like you live there. Our room was nice, clean and well appointed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Gym and breakfast both good. We will stay here again in the future.

Quaint boutique hotel in a eclectic “village” type neighborhood of Lake View East. Walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and shops. Comfy beds and excellent customer service. And the daily breakfast is delicious!

This hotel is a great place to stay. Every time we come to Chicago to watch the Cubs play, we stay here. Very centrally located. Walking distance to Wrigley Field, restaurants, bars and shops. Very safe area and easy to get to from airport.

Best Western staff, Abdiel and Rhonda are fantastic and very friendly. I recommend this place for close proximity to downtown and Wrigley Field. This hotel was cozy, comfortable, safe, and in a warm and friendly neighborhood. We look forward to returning here again. All our tours start locations were very close to our hotel here.

Hawthorne has always been clean - friendly staff. love the location as being close to food, bars, lake. was disappointed that rates had been raised so much for Pride weekend. if not for that, it would have been terrific!

We stayed for 5 nights recently and greatly appreciated the staff, especially Rhonda, for her willingness to find a solution to a noisy box spring issue. We easily moved rooms and enjoyed our stay! The breakfast was delicious, especially the cinnamon rolls, and although the self-serve area is small, if everyone has patience there are plenty of options for all. Adults, kids, no one will leave this breakfast hungry. The hot tub is large and hot, unlike some places where lukewarm passes for a hot tub. Only issue was the circuit breaker would trigger and a couple of evenings it wasn't hot. The room service staff was very friendly in the hallways, in fact all of the staff were quick to say hello and were warm/welcoming. One day room service was missed and we got back too late to have the room serviced but they quickly brought up clean towels and other items needed when called. You idiots should shoot your architect! and the city inspector who approved this "accessible" Room 327. A person in a wheelchair or a small mobility scooter can not enter this annex of rooms. by the time you activate the entrance"door lock" with your keycard and then get to the entrance door (because of having to back up on your mobility device) and travel toward the door it locks again. then into the elevator and up to the 3rd floor cramped lobby area. and to the room into the room is a HIGH threshold. the room was very nice in appearance. then to enter the "accessible bathroom" was an unbelievable experience. the bathroom threshold was like trying to jump a barrier to enter TOTALLY against ADA who the F approved this? IDIOTS that is who. first time i tried to enter the bathroom my scooter finally jumped it and I almost hit the glass shower "curtain". lucky for you, I knew how to adjust and was able to survive my extremely inaccessible environment. And with ADA 5 ft turning radius requirements, bath did not comply and why do you have a king size bed in a small room when persons in WC's need the additional room? great location, close to wrigley, but totally INACCESSIBLE... I demand a refund! BTW A cop[y of this will be sent to Chicago City inspectors.. FYI lucky for me AND YOU my son and people off the street helped me enter the entrance lobby. And tell me WHY you idiots do not have your front door on your annex "automatic"? BTW my background is 30 yrs of developing accessible housing. both your entrance doors can be automated and the annex door can be automated so when a person swipes their entrance card the door opens automatically WHICH will help people struggling with their luggage and obviously persons with disabilities.

Had house centipede in bathroom as well as being double charged and the refusing to release $718 back to my account which stranded us in Iowa and they couldn't care less. We are not the first this has happened to as per YELP

I travel to Chicago for business several time per month and so happy I found this gem! The rooms are super clean, modern, and appointed with everything you need. The staff is aces - Anna is especially wonderful! Lots of street parking, tons of restaurants and bars, shops, etc in easy walking distance. Uber is about 10 min to the loop, red line is just a few minutes walk. The breakfast is a nice addition, too! Wrigley is right around the corner - the location could not be better, really. Yet - I still found it to be rather quiet, and very quaint. Love the vibe of old school Chicago in the renovated mansion turned hotel. This will be my go-to from now on!

Really enjoyed the location. We walked to the lake shore and to Wrigleyville. The place was really nice and the room was really nice sized, especially since it wasn't even a suite. Bars and restaurants were within a block or two. The hot tub was great. The room decor was nice.

Stayed here for three nights in my first trip to Chicago (work related). Could no have picked a more perfect place. It includes a good breakfast, and if you are going to Wrigley Field, the stadium is just like a 13 minute walk away. There are a few restaurants near by, and Downtown is like 10-15 minutes away in car, depending on the traffic. The room was perfect, and you are in a area which is not noisy, so rest comes easy. The staff was very helpful. If you are looking for a budget stay, this is the place. Overall, I would stay here again in my next visit to Chicago.

This hotel is literally a hidden gem in a friendly, diverse, and vibrant area of Chicago. From the moment that I made my reservation, Abdiel established rapport and helped with me room selection and gave super helpful information about the area. At check in, super sweet Abdiel and Francis were so welcome and accommodating. I felt like I was walking into a family gathering. Francis later provided so much information about the neighborhood and was super responsive to any questions or needs that arose. Absolutely incredible customer service in a warm, comforting environment. In the morning, Suzy and I had good conversation and the breakfast staff were super patient in a tight serving space. I really can't say enough good about my experience! I will definitely return to this hotel, and I hope that Abdiel and Francis will be making tons more money, so they stay in the job when I return so that I can see them again. These guys should really be paid guides around the area. They are so fun and so knowledge and so super cute! Thanks guys, you are freaking incredible! Really nice little hotel tucked away in a beautifully renovated old building. Great location. Gorgeous rooms. The only comment I could make is that the water pressure in the shower could be much better. To someone from a small town in Ohio, it was quite expensive, but is probably par for the course in a big city like Chicago.

BW Hawthorn is our go to place when visiting friends and family in the East Lakeview - Boystown neighborhoods. It's conveniently located, to restaurants, entertainment, transportation options, the lake and Wrigley field. We've stayed in all sizes of rooms. Each are comfortably appointed, with great amenities. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Always a great bargain!

Suite felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. Plenty of space for a family of four to six. Friendly staff. I recommend adding the parking option. We added the parking and it worked out great. We met a couple who checked in the next morning and their car was towed in the span of the ten minutes it took them to check in (they unknowingly parked in a private lot/space). This easily could have been us had we not purchased the parking in advance.

We were here for concert at the Riviera Theater (about 2 miles north), and choose the hotel because it was one of the closest to the venue. We were pleasantly surprised by the location and quality of the hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly. The free breakfast was decent. Walking distance to the lake and Wrigley Field. The heater was rather noisy, aside from that, no problems.

The hotel was nice enough. Clean. Walking distance to the lake and plenty of restaurants and nightlife. The front desk was very kind and doing their best however we weren't able to get into our room until past 4, which was a bummer. They will hold your bags for you while you go explore. Lyft rides are quick and easy to and from this hotel. Beware though the walls are paper thin! could hear conversations though the bedroom wall.

We were pleased to find out when we checked in that we were upgraded to a king suite. The stay was excellent. It is close to the great restaurants, wrigley fieild, Lake Michigan, safe neighbor and parking is right next door. We will definitely stay there again.

We were really happy here. The facilities are very cool. The desk staff were really helpful and friendly For Sabbath observers, this is a very easy place to stay downtown 5 minutes from the synagogue.

When booking the staff was very helpful and informative. Offered me to become a Best Western reward membership. Upon arrival, the staff were very friendly. During the stay, the hotel was so neat, clean, and organized. Upon departure, the staff were so pleasant. Overall an amazing hotel experience. The staff were very enthusiastic and kind. The room had a great feel and a very nice, "In the now look". I would come here again and I would highly recommend!

This hotel has nice size rooms and is situated in a good neighborhood! The parking which is additional $ is conveniently right next door in a garage. The room was large and comfy altho the thermostat was fairly loud. Downfalls were that the front desk worker suzy was less than hospitable. Also the free breakfast was weak-Served in the smallest room ever and not much selection. Recommend The Bagel Restaurant and Deli instead.

Came to Chicago for only 1 night and wanted to stay in my old neighborhood. The BW Hawthorne terrace Hotel had been recommended by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. My room was clean and obviously had been recently remodeled. Close to many restaurants and bars. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return

This hotel is an affordable gem in the heart of the City, close to shops and many, many restaurants and pubs. (and just minutes away from Wrigley Field). Parking is so convenient right next door ($30/day) but you have in and out privileges. The King Suites over a sitting room and full kitchen. very cozy accommodations.

Worst experience ever. We were on tour, got to the room at 4am to catch a few hours of sleep before having to check out and hit the road. The elevator dings on Every. Single. Floor. Every time someone uses the elevator. Which as you can imagine is constantly come morning. Started at about 5:30am. And was constant until we finally gave up and got up at 9am giving up on any chances of sleep. Mediocre breakfast was had. Checked out and told the manager about the elevator. No apology, just a "I've never heard that before." She needs to go lay down in room 404. And if that loud heat/ac unit isnt making a commotion and she can't hear that, then someone else with better hearing should give it a listen. 3 out of 4 of us couldn't sleep. The 4th sleeps with headphones on. A hotel that can't provide a place to sleep is useless. One amazing thing, lighting on the bathroom mirror, perfect for makeup. After getting our car towed while checking in and bringing up our luggage, it also would have been nice to have had a local person who was a bit friendlier than some dude at the front counter facetiming a buddy. Like, "Hey this stuff happens all the time its sucks", human compassion goes a long way. And maybe a, "When this happens to anyone I know we do this." All it made me think was your hotel was in league with the crooked tow company that has a class action law suit out against them.

Hotel in a nice, neat area of Chicago. It's centered amongst a lot of restaurants and is about a 20 or 30 minute walk to Wrigley Field. Parking is $25 per night but the garage is next door and easy in and out.

We attended a concert at Wrigley Field and stayed at here for very first time it was great everyone was very helpful and the room was really nice very comfy. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

I stayed for a business weekend. The staff were all exceptionally kind, even though they were always busy. The room was fine - mattress was not awesome, but ok. The breakfast area was cramped but wonderful with hot eggs and meat as well as waffles and pastries. The location of the hotel is incredible - walking distance to Wrigley, in a friendly low-key neighborhood. Parking was exceptionally easy- covered and right next door - $25 per night. I would absolutely stay here again.

I always love staying at the Hawthorne Terrace when in Chicago. Lovely environment but not the hustle/bustle of a big city hotel. Quaint, comfortable and clean. Love the neighborhood feel to the location with the mom/pop businesses nearby: hardware store, shoe store, pet store, bakery, etc. and grade school.

An amazing stay! Housekeeping took great care in cleaning the room, staff was friendly, and Francis at the front desk made checking in super easy, he also helped us find some great eating locations! The Internet was fast and the rain shower was a plus too!

This is a great place to stay for the price. If I could rate it on the staff and price, I would have given it 5 stars. My main complaint was the darkness and lack of color in my room. There is only one small window, with thick wooden blinds. Great for keeping out the light at night, but not so good for letting in light during the day. There was no art on the walls and the floors were a fake wood, that was appealing but not colorful. The breakfast was nice. The vending machines did not have a big variety and there was no other place in the hotel to purchase food. But the price was very good and the staff extremely courteous and helpful. This is obviously an older hotel that is updated, but would be 5 star with changes to the rooms and more food and drink availability!

The hotel was very clean and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. Our room (King suite) was spacious enough and cozy. The continental breakfast had a wonderful selection each morning. We stayed in the winter, so walking to destinations wasn't ideal, but in milder weather the location is near perfect! Will definitely consider the next time we visit the Windy City!

This is a great boutique hotel in the middle of an active area of Chicago. The hotel is walking distance to Lake Michigan and close to bars, restaurants and shops. The staff are personable and very kind!

The staff at this hotel are super friendly and outgoing! its rare you find people who will go out of their way to accommodate you and make sure you are happy with your stay. From housekeeping to Management they all are friendly, welcoming and engage with each guest they pass. I would def recommend this hotel to friends and family!!

Our first time at this hotel and likely not our last. Staff was very welcoming and we appreciated Valentina getting us into our room a little early. She also checked us out and was an excellent representative of the hotel. The handicapped room met our needs very well with the roll in shower. We brought our own shower stool so my only suggestion would be to add a shower stool with adjustable legs to the contents of the room. We had hardwood floors and a nice city view but it was still quiet at night Breakfast was very good, better than expected. An interesting feature of the room was Amazon's Alexa. We could ask Alexa questions and she would respond such as weather reports, could also ask Alexa to set an alarm for us. it as unique to our hotel experience. Location for us was also outstanding.

A very good hotel in a not so busy area. Good for discovering the city - all sights of Chicago and for business trips as well. perfect location for experiencing the real Chicago life. And I really like the proximity to the lake, grocery stores, restaurants, bars and the city center as well. The staff in the hotel is very friendly. They always have a smile on their face. Especially, Phyllis Porter, she cared so much about my stay. She would always ask if I need a service and whenever I had a special request she did her best to get it for me. THANKS a lot Phyllis!!

This place could not have been any more perfect. It's small and quaint and everything from the rooms to the breakfast were wonderful. The staff was outstanding and helpful and went above and beyond for everything. We would stay there again if we are in Chicago !

We have been staying at the Best Western several times a year for the past few years since our daughter and family moved to Chicago. Although it is not necessarily the most luxurious of hotels, it is comfortable, clean and well-maintained. We are always greeted warmly by staff and feel that we are at a home away from home. The hotel is moderately priced and includes a good selection for breakfast. It's also conveniently situated near restaurants and a supermarket. Would definitely recommend for a short or extended stay

I've never stayed in this part of Chicago, I usually stay near the loop, but I really, really liked it here. Great neighborhood, really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and looking at the beautiful homes. Found great restaurants, bars, bookstores, shops, all in walking distance. Also, there was a laundry facility across the street - hugely important as I was returning from a 4 week trip in Asia - this was super convenient. I found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming, great rooms, will absolutely stay here again.

The gym is small but not crowded, equipment is OK. The breakfast area is WAY to small, and only worth it if you want convenience. The cinnamon buns are good. instead of eating here, check out the local restaurants for breakfast, there are many. Apparently in Chicago they collect trash and recycling very early during the week. Get a room in the back, away from the street. We faced the street (it is set back, but still) and when that dumpster rolled over those cobblestones, again, and again ... my brain was being jackhammered from the inside out. The staff is friendly, and attentive. I would stay here again, but I'd skip the free breakfast. The rooms show their age, but it's not run down. It's not a 4 star hotel either.

So I made a last-minute booking of this hotel after working 16 hours, I was very tired. I was greeted by a very friendly member by the name of Abtiel. He worked very hard to make sure that all of my needs were met. I admit I was a little much but he was able to do everything I asked him and he never seemed annoyed and was pleasant throughout the whole experience. The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay here again hands down.

I checked into the Hotel Terrace after a horrible air B and B experience and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The staff was incredible and I even ended up extending my stay. I travel for work and usually like to stay in air b and b's because I stay for several days and try to make myself at home. This hotel was the perfect fit to help me feel like I was “at home” Specifically, the general manager Mauricio went above and beyond. The two guys that I interacted with behind the desk, Kevin, and embarrassingly I cannot remember the other young mans name, but he was new to the hotel, I do think it starts with a A. We have been staying here for many years when we visit Chicago. A smaller hotel with comfortable beds and great towels. I find the rooms are nicer in the second building just next door. A small but fresh breakfast buffet is available in both buildings. Parking in the garage next door used to be discounted for hotel guests, Not any more unfortunately. Desk staff are friendly and courteous.

The thing I found the most impressive about the hotel was the staff; Abdiel at the front desk was very welcoming, polite, professional, friendly and helpful. A member of the housekeeping staff I spoke with was also very polite and friendly. The location was convenient to the concert I was in town to attend as well as to a wide variety of bars, restaurants, and shops. The very minor negatives: the rate seemed a bit high but hotels were in short supply on the night I stayed there. The room could have used a bit of updating (but it was definitely clean and everything was functional).

This historic, beautifully renovated hotel is a relaxing retreat in the midst of the city of Chicago! Comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, and friendly staff are things we look for ... this hotel has it all!

The hotel was within walking distance of great restaurants and shopping and a short bus or train ride to the heart of Chicago. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the buffet breakfast had a variety of choices for every taste. The room was clean but the mattress could have used updating.

Beautiful, charming low scale hotel with an attentive and caring staff. Arrived early they worked as a team to get us into the room early so we could enjoy the city. All the staff truly works together as a team. Pristine room not one hair, dust etc. quiet comfortable. Breakfast has multiple choices. I sinned on my diet and had the best cinnamon roll in my life!

I would not only recommend but would stay again if in the area. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and the building was beautiful. Close to the water and walking distance of good food and entertainment.

General Manager Mauricio has made sure our extended stay has been satisfactory. He took the time to assist us on the computers and to chat with us about Portugal where we had a great vacation a few years ago. He let us know that he will continue to do his best to make sure our extended stay is continously pleasant. We will certainly inform others about our pleasant stay here and will use this hotel for extra guests that we cannot accommodate.

I had issues with ants in my room so this was not the best experience ever for a hotel stay. However, the location of the hotel is perfect for a Cubs game and to be in the middle of everything. If I had not had the issue above it would have been a perfect stay.

Just left from 2 nights at this boutique hotel. Nicely appointed rooms; loved the walk in shower! Maria maintained our room well. Lovely lobby and garden areas. Breakfast (included) featured cinnamon rolls from Ann Sathers; Armando refreshed offerings with a smile. Neighborhood is great: restaurants, good bus transport to the Loop. Sooooo close to Wrigley Field you can walk to Cubs games.

Staff: The staff is super nice! I can't say more nice things about the people at this hotel, both front desk, cleaning, and especially the breakfast guy (who ran out to get soy milk for those who can't drink regular milk). The staff gets five stars. The b'fast is pretty nice, too, though limited in the super skinny galley kitchen. Lots of coffee and a pleasant lobby and outside seating area (when the weather cooperates). Internet: Very temperamental. Kept cutting out on all my devices. I had to keep logging back in constantly. Very annoying. Gym: Full of prone-to-breaking Technogym equipment. Barely OK (you'll want to go to a real gym). However, the sauna and the huge jacuzzi are a big plus! Room Issues: First room had noisy A/C, a super noisy bathroom fan, a noisy refrigerator, and two mattresses on the double beds that clearly needed immediate replacements (I woke up with a back ache). So, I changed rooms to a King in the front of the building. Well, at least the bed, fans, and A/C were lots better...but then at 7am they haul out the garbage containers in the front of the building waking up the dead and then some! Yikes. Also, the rooms have those annoying motion detector thermostats that cut off during the night (so you have to know the override code). I question whether management/owners are maintaining the plant/equipment. In Conclusion: If you get a room *all the way in the back* and you get newer mattresses and you're there for a Cubs game, I highly recommend this hotel. If you're there because of the hotel's great location near Boystown, you must get a room *all the way in the back* else you'll be woken up way too early (at least on some weekdays). If you can't be guaranteed a room *all the way in the back* then don't go. (I assume you're getting the message here).

Every part of my stay was great starting with check-in. The hotel is so beautiful and the room was incredible. The staff was really wonderful giving us ideas on restaurants/clubs to visit. Checking out was simple and got some great recommendations for breakfast.

My family (4 families from 3 different states) recently stayed here for a family wedding weekend. The location was great. There are two grocery stores, a pharmacy, and a number of restaurants close by. The staff was overwhelmingly pleasant, attentive, and accommodating. A special shout out to Phyllis Porter, who was quite charming. I would highly recommend a stay here .

Abdiel and Mayra know how to make you feel like you're coming home each and every time u come back to their lobby. They're an example of hard and excellent job and service. This hotel has a lovely front courtyard area and is within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and stores. However, I would not recommend staying here. The room was ok, albeit a bit dusty and bed lumpy . However, the worse was getting. to our room late and discovering the room was not cleaned. Simply unacceptable.

We were in town for a Cubs game and chose this hotel based on being close to Wrigley. The rooms were comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The GM, Mauricio, went above and beyond what you would expect in order to accommodate all of our needs. The free breakfast was also above par compared to most others.

we were in town for a couple of concerts at Wrigley Field and then a tour of Wrigley Field, we wanted a hotel within walking distance where we could park our car with no issues (while we did have a minor issue with the parking garage, it is not run by the hotel) Our room, a junior suite was perfect for myself, my husband and our teenage son. loved that breakfast was served until 10am (me and my son are not early risers so this helped a lot) hotel was very clean. just an overall great experience, wish more hotels were like this one. My husband loved that there was Kuerig in the room (he had considered bringing ours from home, but called the hotel ahead of time and found out he wouldn't need to do that) hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. plenty of restaurants within walking distance (had great bbq at Wrigley BBQ down the street) and even a Walgreen's where we stopped in to pick up a couple of things. Even fairly close to walk over to the lake front, which we also did.

We stayed here for a family event and the location couldn't be beat. Close to where we needed to be, but also close to Wrigley Field, numerous restaurants, bars and shops. It's also close to the lake and very accessible for buses to take you wherever you want to go in Chicago.

Located in the heart of boystown! This placed is Central the everything you want, food, sports, galleries, shopping, the lake. The property is nice, the round are well maintained and the management are great to deal with.

We love staying at the Hawthorne Terrace when we come in for Cubs games. There is a parking garage right next door and we walk to and from the game. Friendly neighborhood with lots of choices for restaurants.

My wife and I stayed here recently to attend a couple concerts at Wrigley Field. It was one of only two places that seemed walking distance. I went with this hotel according to other trip adviser comments and made a great choice. It's a small quiet place that seems repurposed from an old building. Rooms are very clean with small courtyard in front that was nice to sit and relax in the shade. Many good restaurants and bars in walking distance. Seems like nice area and safe as others have said. Would definitely stay here again to attend Wrigley Field.

We stayed here in August of 2018 for three nights. We were going to two games at Wrigley Field so the location was key for us. You are able to walk to Wrigley Field from the hotel in about 15 mins (max). There are several restaurants and bars in the area which makes mealtime easy. There is a Starbucks about two blocks south (less than a five min walk). And there is a grocery store about two mins north which is great for purchasing water or any other food (as there was a microwave in the hotel room). The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. The reason I say the hotel is average is because it is an older hotel and there were some small issues. The area with the complimentary breakfast was very tiny and the furniture is older and just a little run down. There is sort of a musty stale smell in the elevator. We had a deluxe king room and there was nothing deluxe about it. Apparently deluxe just means it has a tub. I guess the non-deluxe rooms have just a shower with no tub? The room was very small, the phone didn't work in the room, and someone else's food was left in the microwave. None of this was a huge deal; just small things that added up to an "average" rating. We stayed here as our trip happened to be during Lollapalooza which seemed to drive up the hotel room prices. This hotel worked for our needs and I would consider staying again IF we were going to more games at Wrigley Field.

I was at this hotel back in July for about a week and I really enjoyed my stay. You're not far from Wrigley Field. It's really easy to get to the beaches and downtown Chicago. The staff were really friendly and really helpful. I had issues with my booking through Expedia and the lady at the counter was really patient and took initiative to call Expedia herself to resolve the situation.

I stayed at the BW during a business trip this past week. Beautiful exterior and the interior has faint remnants of a historical feel with the standard quality of a best western you would expect. Rooms are spacious with standard amenities. Kevin at the front desk was extremely helpful and working in the hotel industry myself can say for sure that he is an asset because he is professional yet genuine (no fake smiles lol). Their breakfast though confined was a good quality breakfast of eggs, sausages, coffee, toasts, pastries etc. Would definateley stay again.

We did a last minute cubs game and wanted to stay within walking distance of Wrigleville. This was perfect! We paid WAY TO MUCH PER NIGHT. $329 plus tx??. But it was a great getaway. The rooms are very clean! They have a very cute patio to relax at and watch city life. The breakfast in the am is one of the best that I have had at a hotel. The cinnamon rolls were amazing! We will be staying here again but hopefully a better price next time.

We loved this hotel. Staff were friendly. Room was super clean and spacious. We had a suite and it was plenty big for 4 of us. Amenities and breakfast were great as well. You cannot beat this location for proximity to Wrigley. We will definitely be back.

This was a really fun hotel with convenient parking right next door, within walking distance to Wrigly Field, and unique bars and restaurants all within walking distance. It was a fun place to stay just outside of downtown Chicago. We had a fun time walking around and stoping by the shops, sipping n some coffee at Starbucks.

We stayed here while in town for a concert very good service, room was very clean. Phyllis in house keeping kept us well supplied with towels etc. great location would definitely stay here again, loved it

A quaint hotel very close to Wrigley Field. Very friendly and helpful staff. Water and fruit out in the lobby all day. Rooms are clean and updated especially the bathrooms. My only issue with the room was that the shower curtain was a little stained and could have used a new one. Beds were very comfortable. AC worked well but was very sensitive so if you turned it up a degree the heat would blast to warm it! I slept in so didn't get to try breakfast but sounds as thought there was a great selection. I just loved sitting out the front on their patio and enjoying the amazing ambiance.

This is my first choice whenever I go to Chicago. It's well run and well maintained. If Hawthorne Terrace has no rooms available, I have, on occasion, canceled my trip or changed dates so I can stay there. I recommend it to anyone in the area.

Stayed here when I took my son and dad to a Cubs game. The hotel itself was great and had a quaint feel for being in the city. It was only a fifteen minute walk to Wrigley Field. The breakfast was much better than we expected with eggs, sausage, make your own waffle, and great cinnamon rolls. Will stay here for sure again.

This is a unique place. In the middle of a residential area so you get the feel of living there. We parked for $44 a day in a garage beside the hotel. It was very safe. We walked to the Briar theater for the blue man group and to Wrigley Field for a cubs game. Felt very safe. Lots of restaurants close by and a Starbucks across the street. Daily breakfast was the standard fair. Maria cleaned our room great. There was a black housekeeper that we saw in the morning and always talked to our grumpy teenager :). We loved it. If you are uncomfortable with the gay lifestyle do not stay in this area. It is in the middle of boys town which is a gay area. Lots of gay bars and pride flags etc. It was clean and safe. I would highly recommend this hotel. A great place all the way around and within walking distance of everything you may need.

Wonderful Breakfast included in stay from 7am-10am. Nice rooms and excellent housekeeping service from Phyllis! She did a great job cleaning the room every day and working around our busy vacation plans. Would highly recommend staying there. Gym had everything u needed and comfortable and clean rooms. This hotel is quite charming in a nice neighborhood with nice little shops including coffee options. We easily walked to Wrigley Field and back after the Cubs game. Easy parking option that is reasonably priced as well. Second visit in 2 years. Will go back when we go to the Cubs game next year!

The maid, Phyllis Poter, kept our room very clean and was very helpful. The location was great. A parking garage was right next door. Location was great. The room we had (214) Was very quiet. They accommodate our adult children with a room right across the hall.

The BW Hawthorne is a quaint hotel in Boystown within walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores and Starbucks. An Uber to downtown was $10. The hotel has a gorgeous front patio with gardens, a fountain and wrought iron tables. Perfect for people watching, morning coffee and evening drinks. The hotel was clean, comfortable and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast exceeded my expectations with eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles and a full array of pastry, beverages and yogurts. Perfect location for those who don't want to stay in the noisy downtown area but still want to be close to all the action. Safe, friendly neighborhood.

Stayed three nights recently and had a wonderful time. My room was quiet and clean. The mattress and bedding were very comfortable. The breakfast was available early enough for me to enjoy and sat outside in their lovely courtyard.

This is lovely. Like a boutique hotel. Everyone was nice and Maria C. Was so nice and did a great job of cleaning our room. We left it messy and came back to a very very clean room. And she was so sweet! Highly recommend.

It's all about location. If you want to be within walking distance to Wrigley Field or Boystown in Chicago, there are few hotel choices around. Room rates are a reflection of this. BW Plus is quite a solid choice. Our ADA room was large. Hallway carpet was slightly smelly. Although everything seems very old, they are working as expected. Simple breakfast buffet is included. Fridge in the room. Bottle water was generously provided which was very much appreciated during the hot days that we stayed including July 4th. The most awesome part is the Alexa in the room. I never had such a device so I enjoyed telling it to play some news and music from streaming radios. Apparently, you could request hotel services through Alexa but we didn't have a need for it.

Great location if you are attending a Cubs game. Short walk to Wrigley Field and close to many, nearby restaurants and bars. Room was clean and spacious. Friendly staff. Great continental breakfast(much better than you will see at most hotels). Parking garage with in and out priveleges located next door at $45 per day. I reserved my stay here based on reviews an photos. The cancellation policy was the clincher. It was everything and more. Besides the location, cleanliness, quiet and fabulous breakfast selections, the staff was especially appreciated. The amenities are plenty. The neighborhood was great with about anything you want is walking distance-including the lakeshore.

The hotel was very nice, in a great location in the midst of everything (restaurants, stores and the lake was a few blocks away). The staff at hotel was wonderful too. Brought the dogs to stay with me and they were very comfortable also. Breakfast was free right down the hall for guests.

We stay here regularly when attending Cubs games. Its a short 8-10 block walk to Wrigley (about 15 min) from the hotel. This is a very quaint and clean hotel that is well taken care of. Only downfall is on the weekends they require a 2 night stay. However, sometimes if you call last minute and they have an opening, they will allow 1 night stays. During the week, a 1 night stay is allowed. Safe area as the police station is about 5-6 blocks away. Parking is $46/night at the parking garage next door (not associated with the hotel), but is very convenient. Free continental breakfast in the am, with eggs, sausage, waffles, and a variety of pastries/breads and juice/coffee. Highly recommended for a great night's stay!

Every time I have stayed here the staff has been amazing. In particular, Mayra is extremely helpful and has made the experience one where I always choose this hotel to stay at every time I go to Chicago. This is by far my favorite hotel and staff experience I have experienced anywhere and a must go to if you are in Chicago.

Parking was close by, and the price was inline with other city parking. The front desk staff was mostly helpful, especially the young man who gave me recommendations for food on 6/29/18! Breakfast was much better than I expected, with sausages, excellent cinnamon rolls, eggs, and fruit. I would have preferred a restaurant/bar, but I can't fault this property for what it doesn't have or advertise. We came for a Twins/Cubs game. Walking to Wrigley took 10-15 minutes, through a nice part of town (IMO.) Lots of places nearby to eat and drink, and even a grocery store close if you prefer to snack in the room. Getting in and out of Chicago is always a challenge for me, but this was a breeze. I-90 to Addison to Broadway and we were there. I've liked other places in Chicago, but the next time we're there for a Twins game, my first choice will be the Hawthorne Terrace.

This is an older building in an established residential neighborhood north of Lincoln Park and a few blocks from Wrigley Field. It has it's charm, with a tranquil garden out front and many larger rooms with spacious seating areas and kitchenettes. There's an abundance of interesting looking restaurants on Broadway Avenue and a supermarket practically next door. The breakfast is more than adequate. The waffles smell delicious (made to order by you) and there is a good selection of cereal and carbs. This would probably be a good base for someone who has to be in this part of Chicago, for a family reunion, or a baseball event. However, it's a little off the beaten path for the casual tourist. Anything you may remotely want to see in Chicago will likely be miles away. Except, of course, for Wrigley Field. And if that's where you need to be you can get a lot closer and with a nicer view. The first room we were shown was dark and smelled terribly of stale cigarettes. And the view out the window was a brick wall a few feet away. We were upgraded to a "superior suite" in the newer annex. This was basically 2 small rooms connected by an open archway but it smelled a lot better and had a view of Broadway Avenue. At first I was a little concerned about being unable to sleep for the street noise but that didn't turn out to be a big problem. The kitchen was well equipped and it had a coffee maker, iron, and a nice big shower in the bathroom. The closet was small and basically an antique, more for show than functional. We were there three days and lived out of our suitcases. The main issue for me was the price; over $500 a night. I've stayed at the Savoy in London for less and I can tell you there was no comparison.

I stayed 2 days in this hotel. Overall the bed is really good, it includes a pretty decent breakfast, and it is located close to downtown. You have a park less than 2 blocks away and wrigley field too. The only thing that could improve are the water pressure in the showers.

Excellent location and the staff of the property makes you feel like you are at home. Excellent rooms, superior property with above average amenities. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. I/we stay here every time we are in Chicago.

We dealt with Godfrey this time and again we where not disappointed. The level of service from the very beginning to the last minute of our stay. We where provided a room upgrade and that put us into the normal room we stay in. Amazing stay. Love this place.

Visiting from Pa, we stayed here to see a Cubs/Phillies game at Wrigley Field. We were happy with the close walk to the park and there is a lot of shopping/food around. Hotel was clean, except for the couch in our suite that was ripped and dirty (Room #226) Parking garage is right next to hotel. Breakfast was your usual continental breakfast. However, we booked a King room with jacuzzi in advance and they gave our room away. Our room wasn't even in the main building. They did discount the room, but it was kind of a disappointment...

A great hotel close to Wrigley Field (an easy walk). Friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and amenities. It was nice to have a grocery store and restaurants nearby and the beach at Lake Michigan is only a few blocks away.

The location is nestled in an older, Victorian section of Chicago just a couple of blocks from the lake shore and marina. The neighborhood felt safe for early morning power walks. It was very convenient and a short walk to Wrigley Field and great restaurants. The only drawback was the lack of a decent breakfast. Its advertised as having breakfast, but its served in a tiny hallway/galley type kitchenette. it cant hold more than 2 at a time... Imagine travelers dying for coffee and a bite before exploring and you will experience the same frustration. We had to wait in the hall, along with others lined up, to get in and grab something to eat and drink. ***There are other rooms on this floor-sacrifice a guest room and turn it into a breakfast lounge.

Check in seemed to be a chore for the hostess at the front desk. I waited an additional 10 mins for a room to be ready even after I checked in well after 3pm. I was given 3 diffferent sets of keys before I got the right set with a host from the front desk having to run me down and stop me on the elevator to let me know they had given me the wrong room keys again. No apologies of any kind and no explanation. I brought my wife and kids with me and we got a 2 King suite but the room wasn't very clean. It was very dated and it smelled almost musty. The air conditioning didn't work properly. For the cost of the room it was by far one of the worst values I've ever gotten on a hotel stay. Never again.

This hotel is ok, breakfast is good, room is clean and ok. No on site parking! Very expensive even for Chicago! Better choices if you book in advance. The staff was Chicago friendly... Not bad, just wouldn't be my 1st choice.

Although a favorite place in the past, it seems to have fallen onto hard times. All but one of machine of the exercise equipment were broken. The spa was out of order. Empty wine bottle was left in our room from previous guest and silverware was not properly cleaned. Couch was stained with something.

This place feels dated as hell. There is NO PARKING even though they advertise that they do. You'll have to pay for public parking which is about $45 a day. The bed is atrocious, TV is old and quite small, bathroom feels like Ikea puked into an 80's bathroom, just really disappointing. I cannot for the life of me understand why this has such great ratings. Do yourself a favor and check out other places nearby and you'll find better hotels with better amenities.

One of the nicer hotels we have stayed in. Great service from the staff. Cleaning staff ran out the door to meet us at the curb as we checked out, because we forgot a phone charger. Nice buffet breakfast, well managed by almost overly attentive staff. Nice lobby to eat breakfast and meet fellow travelers. Room had very nice wood floors, was quiet and peaceful. That said, we like to exercise while traveling, and for a relatively pricy hotel (200-300/night) the fitness center was terrible. 3 cardio machines of poor quality. Treadmill was difficult to turn on, turned off randomly while running (could be dangerous), hot tub was out of order the entire 4 day stay. Very bad, enough that anyone wanting a convenient fitness center must either stay elsewhere or plan to pay extra and go to a local health club.

We traveled to Chicago for a quick trip with three our three teenagers, and were quite comfortable in a "Junior Suite" during our stay! There were two king beds, one of which was in a separate, private bedroom. The couch also folded out into a bed. There were three televisions, and a fridge, microwave and dining table as well. The location is awesome; walking distance to a huge variety of restaurants and attractions. Wrigley Field is an easy walk, as is the Briar Street Theatre, home of Blue Man Group. Our suite was in the building next door, easily accessible and just a few steps from the main lobby's front door. Breakfast was available in both buildings, which we appreciated.

We were scheduled to stay a few nights at this hotel and go to a Cubs game, but my husband sprained his ankle, forcing us to change our plans and drive back home to NC. I had made no-cancel reservations the month before and, sure we would billed for the whole amount, I called the hotel anyway and explained the situation. Geoffry(?) Was very understanding and sweet. He canceled our reservation and refunded us. I can't say that the competition would do the same. This is how you get a loyal customer for life! Guess where we will be staying when we finally get Chicago!

This hotel is a tiny gem at affordable prices and in walking distance to Wrigley Field. The only disappointment on this overnight was the Hometown Cubs loss. The breakfast was super good- eggs, sausage, waffles, toast.... cereals. Spend some time walking around the diverse neighborhood, And one block down to the Great Lake Michigan. Can't beat this sweet little find.

This is a very quaint hotel within walking distance of Wrigley Field. Several restaurants in immediate area too. The parking garage is attached and very easily accessible. Price is 40.00 per day. Breakfast was good. Area is very small and congested. Be patient. Eating area is actually hotel lobby but plenty of tables. Overall nice experience.

I could not of ask for a better place to stay reserved on line and exceeded our expectations you guys knocked it out of the park. Even though both cub games got cancelled we had a nice place to lay our heads. THANK YOU .

I don't want to write a review. The Hawthorne Terrace was a small cozy traditional old hotel with newly renovated rooms. Very beautiful and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast room was very open and sunny. Very convenient location if you are visiting DePaul University. Also there are many very good restaurants nearby.

The hotel was charming and the room was very large. Breakfast was good and the hot tub was nice for the chilly nights. It was remodeled nicely and I really liked the rain head shower feature in the huge walk in shower. Double vanities were a nice bonus also. The beds were comfortable.

I've stayed here before for 100$ less a night, but my travel dates were fixed for medical reasons. The price of the room was not worth it, and next time I'll be trying to plan more accordingly. Outside street noise is to be expected; it is Chicago. What I didn't expect was the HVAC fan being so loud that it kept me up, as well as the people in the room across the hall screaming. At one point the door to their room was left open for multiple hours, so I told the front desk. When I walked by next time, the door was closed but music was blaring and I could hear it in my room. This is the second time I've had a noise issue with other guests in the hotel. Also, any room right by the elevator (which this was) means you'll hear the ding all night. If you're sensitive to noise at night, I would not recommend this hotel. I stay here because it's within walking distance of what I need and once I check in I get left alone. If it weren't within walking distance of my medical appointments, I'd be looking elsewhere. That said, I always find parking on the surrounding streets for free. I won't mess with the parking garage next door who takes your keys and charges 40$ a day. Also - I'll say this is a good place to stay in Chicago if you have a service animal. I got no questions or hassle about her, and there's actually some dirt and grass on the nearby streets for walking. So A+ for that at least.

went for cubs game. Close to Wrigley, nothing to fancy. Felt like it was out dated. Other than that it was acceptable. A lot of nice restaurants and bars with in walking distance. Parking garage for an extra fee.

Stayed with my 2 daughters for a Chicago overnight trip. Room was quaint & comfortable. We also received a complimentary upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. Hope to stay here again with my husband for a weekend getaway. A very short walk to many activities in Lakeview. I was very pleased with room & front desk service.

We were here for a concert at the Riviera Theater. Nice location, parking right next store. Staff was fine. Free upgrade to a large suite -- very nice room! Only complaint: hot tub was only lukewarm..

We were very pleased with the comfort and location of this hotel, and would definitely stay here again if our plans took us to the East Lakeview area of Chicago. The room was very spacious, and we appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator. The hardwood floors were a very nice alternative to the usual hotel carpeting.

Hotel was basic, but comfortable. Location was worth the price of a suite at $370/night. The bars are easy to get as well as bringing back food from the restaurants still open later in the evening after a night of drinking and socializing.

Clean, quiet and spacious rooms. Great location, close to so much. Easy getting in and out of parking garage. Definitely will stay here again! We really loved the room, it had hard wood floors and decorated so nice.

We took our two teens to Chicago for spring break in March 2018. We did the usual attractions-Shedd, Field, Sky deck, Blue Man ect. We are from the Cleveland area and Chicago is a huge step up. As far the Hawthorne, the location is north of downtown and surrounded by many wonderful restaurants and even a grocery store. Lots of things are in walking distance. The hotel is very very charming, clean and the rooms are fairly spacious considering how cramped buildings are in Chicago. This hotel has two buildings, both right next to each other. Each has its own complimentary breakfast area, so you don't need to go to the main lobby to eat in the morning. We had a loft suite....one level, one bath with double sinks, 2 king beds separated by a half wall for privacy and a living area with pull out sofa. The bathroom was my favorite part....granite counters, HUGE shower with 2 different spray heads, and a double sink. The rooms are nicely remodeled but still maintain old style charm. We even had a mini kitchen though we didn't cook much. The only negatives: Floors are original hardwood planks. Many of which are loose and separated. Watch out if you plan to walk barefoot! Mattresses are very hard. Might be a plus for some travelers but not us. We tossed and turned and woke up with sore backs. Last negative (but I am being a little picky here)...breakfast. While we very much appreciated a hot breakfast each morning, the choices were limited and always the same. The hot items were circular fried eggs (sized for a sandwich) and either sausage or bacon (switched daily). No potatoes for those carb lovers. There was a waffle maker and lots of toppings for waffles, but the breakfast area is so cramped I didn't feel like waiting to cook it. But I would much rather have those offerings than no breakfast as restaurants are so expensive. Overall, nice hotel that is good for families or adults.

This hotel is great! Close to the lake and the CTA. The rooms are unique, clean comfortable and attractive. You can walk to many different restaurants, shopping and Wrigley field. The staff are all so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This is the second time we've stayed here and we will definitely be back!

This is a smaller hotel in a great Lakeview neighborhood. It is within walking distance of the train. They offer breakfast but there are many restaurants nearby. We found it to be clean. We will stay here again.

Convenient to area attractions. Intimate setting. Comfortable and quiet rooms including the suites. Great amenities including breakfast and adjacent parking. Staff is ALWAYS pleasant and helpful. Best bargain around!

My boyfriend and I met here for a weekend anniversary trip and plan to come back every year. The staff was genuinely interested in being helpful and friendly. Taylor at the front desk was always smiling. Hawthorne Terrace has a cute first impression, the room was attractive and spotless, and the comfort and ease of our time made us want to never stay anywhere else in Chicago. Also, taking the Red Line downtown was easy, and there were lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood.

I really look forward to my trips to Chicago, not only to visit friends but to stay at an 'away from home' home. Staff is friendly and makes me feel like family. It is easily a place that I would bring my own.

Older updated building near Wrigley Field - dog friendly!! Very comfortable rooms and they offered gluten free bagles - a real plus. We are in Chicago often and will definitely stay here the next tim. It's close to restaurants and coffee shops and feels very safe.
