Situated in northeastern South America about 8,000 kilometers from Paris and eight-hours away by air, French Guiana extends over 91,000 square kilometers, nearly one-sixth the size of France, and with its 145,000 inhabitants, it happens to be the largest, yet least populated territory of France. Bordered by Brazil to the south and Suriname to the west, covered for the most part by the Amazonian forest, French Guiana has a sweet equatorial climate with two seasons, dry and rainy. Kourou, which is 60 kilometers northwest from Cayenne, is the home of the European Space Center. The Best Western Hotel Amazonia is located downtown on the main shopping avenue close to the theaters, nightclubs, museums and city offices. The Best Western Hotel Amazonia is a large complex with a restaurant, bar and a residential apartment building. Enjoy your stay.

    « Done deal »

I had once a customer event in Hotel Amazonia. Its location in Cayenne city center not far from the airport is quite convenient. We had a good time under a large canopy by the swimming pool. A buffet style dinner was served : various salads, finger sandwiches, fish and meat skewers, plus some local specialties like cod ceviche, feroce d'avocat with Cayenne pepper or colombo. And tropical fruits of course. Servers were friendly. Not fancy but done deal.

    « Poor maintenance »

Small room with all amenities including kettle tea and coffee. Free wi-fi with. renew password connection each time you live your room. Faucet liking. Small swimming pool.average dinner .the good is the location.

« You get what you pay for »

Centrally situated in town. Luckily only stayed one night. Website pictures show it in better condition than it was. Reception is tired and dated. Can do with a redecoration. Staff helpful and can speak English. Put in a room with the kitchen extractor fan right outside window that was on between 6am and 10pm Very noisy. Wifi connection kept being lost. Had to keep logging back in several times each session The only good points were the clean swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Everything as expected from 3* hotel.

    « Great place »

Stayed only one night but can confidently state that service was great so too were the facilities. The language barrier was not a problem since most of staff understood english. Not a low budget hotel since rooms and meals are quoted in Euros. An average meal costs 30E.

« Could be great with some maintenance »

We stayed here overnight as part of the tour. The lift was out of action and our small veranda had corroded rails. The pool was good and pleasant to use. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast had a good choice. Plenty of good eating places near by. Several points of interest are within walking distance.

    « A good centrally located hotel »

If you're staying in Cayenne there's no better located hotel in the city. A good base fairly basic but all the essentials especially with the lovely swimming pool which is a must to cool down and relax by. Staff very friendly and helpful

« You get what you pay for »

The hotel is rated 3 stars and that's what you get. The room I was in had a great shelf for putting stuff on, but could not be described as luxurious. The shower had hot water, but the spray could have been better. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good to begin with, but get there early as nothing seems to be replenished. No other meals seem to be served at the hotel. Swimming pool was adequate as long as only a few people are in it at one time. Conveniently located.

    « Ed's Trip to Cayenne »

Loved the place. The hotel was generally good. Devil's Island was great and the food was very good. The only hotel problem was the failure of a wake up call and the failure of the restaurant to open for breakfast a little earlier as they said would happen.

« Good location but not much character »

Perfectly adequate accommodation and well situated but I felt like I was staying in a US motel. The hotel was totally booked so although we'd requested two beds for my father and myself, they had to bring in a hard cot. The staff were friendly and helpful but the system of passwords for the wifi was overly complicated and not user friendly (have to use a different voucher for each device with complicated passwords and it logged you out every 45 minutes).

    « Nice organization!! »

Nice environment, very good swimming pool and internet connection. Rooms are very clean and quiet, and very close to the cicy center. I did not like to put in every moment the password for the wi-fi (it is not memorized when you enter the first time), and the breakfast can be improved.

    « Centrally located horel »

Centrally located hotel with the standard of accommodation you'd expect from a hotel in the Best Western chain. Good quality breakfast, clean rooms, friendly staff. For its class, good value hotel for a stay in Cayenne.

    « Clean and comfortable »

I arrived and left very early in the morning from the airport. My stay was 2 weeks in summer 2015. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They ordered me taxis and made sure the room was prepared for my arrival. The room was kept clean by the rather thorough and respectful cleaning staff. A safe in the closet made me feel that my passport and items were secure when I wasn't in the room. It was quiet and comfortable. The location is perfect - less than a block from the main square and within walking distance of all the main sights of Cayenne. I would recommend this hotel to travelers to Cayenne. It is a relatively good deal for the money, only given that Guyane is generally rather expensive. The restaurant/bar was closed when I was there -- only open for the hotel breakfast from 6:30-10am each morning. The breakfast food was as expected, good but somewhat bland.

« In the heart of Cayenne »

We stayed two Nights in July 2015. The room was rather small and was with window (no balcony) towards pool. Not much noise in room. Cleanliness good.Ok A/C. Wifi not very good in room, but ok in reception and free. Ok breakfast. The location is perfect by main square and all you may need of shops, restaurants, bars etc is next door.

« quaint hotel in the middle of Cayenne. »

Staff speak very little english, we did not fresh towels and did not like the room floor covered with tiny flies because the window was left open during the cleaning. Our. Friend said it was because of the heavy rain. Breakfast was super, eggs way too soft for me almost like a custard.

    « Cayenne »

Amazonia hotel is located in the center of Cayenne within walking distance shopping and the ocean. It is near the Palmiste, a central gathering place for cultural events and almost nightly local eating experiences. I have stayed in the Amazonia many times and will again.

« Very Basic / Good Location / Good Staff »

The location is very good. Everything else about this hotel is basic and in urgent need of update. Staff was nice and took good care of us. It is far from the airport but it is at the centre of town. If you don't know Cayenne this is a safe choice. Has pool and WiFi.
