Like a ship that ploughs through the waves breaking them on its decks, the Best Western Hotel La Rade (the Bay Hotel) seems to merge the blue of Mediterranean into its glorious swimming pool and sun terrace. An outstanding view is offered at first glance from the terrace where the canvassed rails match the tone of a noble wood: -The magnificent cliffs of Cap Canaille glowing with fire and the setting sun-The famous Calanques (creeks) of Cassis -The well-known vineyards of Cassidain-The small fishing harbour, the Provencal village with its unique accent. Inside, the bar and the big hall continue to transport us with their decor of shells and brass portholes into a marine world. Comfortable rooms (double-glazed windows, air conditioning, direct telephone line satellite broadcasting TV, a coffee and tea maker) are there efficiently protect your intimacy. Open all year round and equipped with private car parks and garages, the Best Western Hotel La Rade can accommodate seminars up to 45 persons in a convivial atmosphere. Joining work and well-being is also accessible in these non common bounds. Cassis with 300 sunny days a year is a seaside resort with a casino, water sports, tennis courts, traditional bowl games where you will be able to stroll along its peaceful lanes, discover handicrafts, the heart of the village, and the pleasure of hiking and climbing in the imposing Calanques. Enjoy your stay.

    « park & walk »

We spent 2 nights at Hotel la Rade. The hotel had parking in front of the property and it was about a 7 minute walk down to the waterfront. The rooms are average, with no elevator (we had room 31). There is a deck and pool with a great view overlooking the bay and sunset. The room was clean and the staff helpful. We enjoyed Cassis and the hotel was perfect for our needs We recommend upgrading to the "classique" room.

    « Better Than Expected »

We recently spent four nights here and were very pleased. Most of Cassis is very hilly and Hotel la Rade is mostly uphill from the waterfront. It's not overly strenuous and once you reach the hotel it's a half-flight of stairs up or down to most of the rooms. We were on the first floor up facing the street facing a large green area across the way. The breakfast area has a wonderful view of the bay and the selection provided was outstanding with several protein options as well as baguettes you could slice yourself and fresh squeezed oj. It's well worth the extra charge if your rate doesn't include it. The hotel is smoke free but there were times people stood just outside smoking which then drifted back in. I'd give it a 4.5 rating if I could!

    « 48 hours in Cassis »

This hotel has one of the best views. Sitting in the lounge or from the swimming pool you can see the ocean. The staff is friendly, breakfast is good. The room are A little small but ok. Within 5 minutes you are at the harbour of Cassis. The hotel is 100% smoke free. High speed WiFi. Nice place to come back!

    « Hotel in Cassis »

Great location, just a few minutes's walk from all the restaurants on the harbour front. Bedrooms are very small (difficult to accommodate two adults and two suitcases in the same room) but the en-suite shower room was a good size and very modern. Small amount of parking available but hotel very helpful in advising nearby streets where you can park free of charge. Good value budget hotel.

« Cozy room- very nice hotel with great views »

This hotel is situated above the main village with unobstructed views from lobby and deck patio which expands to open air indoor outdoor room. Gorgeous pool area and nicely decorated- clean and contemporary and very nice decor. The hallways rails are ropes, and rooms are small with tiny balconies making you feel like you are on a cruise ship. Nice bathrooms and comfy beds are a plus as is in room fridge. Checkin and staff service was excellent! Breakfast is not free but we were not told otherwise until asked if we had it upon check out. Bad surprise but all in all really enjoyed this place and it is an excellent value.

    « Perfectly decent! »

Really don't understand any negative reviews about this place and their service in particular. The staff were all very friendly and spoke French to me which was what I wanted - I was in France after all! We had a family room which consisted of 2 interconnecting rooms. A little compact but perfectly decent with adequate air conditioning. Corridors a bit quirkily decorated but perfectly fine! We reserved a garage beforehand at a rate of 16 euros per day, which was so useful and right next to the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful. Amazing view over the pool and superb choice of food including fresh fruit, eggs, yogurts, cheese, meats, smoked salmon etc as well as bread and pastries. Much more interesting for us as a family than a cheaper bread based alternative on the harbour. The wifi was excellent, extending as far as the pool. The pool itself is heated to 28 degrees and very pleasant with an outdoor hot tub too. It was only a short walk down to the harbour, about 5-10 minutes. Would definitely recommend the hotel for the price and see it as a decent 3 star hotel, with lovely pool in a fabulous location. And Cassis is magical!

« Good location, tasty breakfast, nice view »

We found the hotel as we toured the place. the receptionist was welcoming and even offered coffee. The room was not fancy, yet comfortable. Breakfast in front of the stunning view was a compensation for the price.

« Spoiled at the end »

The hotel is in a slightly elevated position above the port. The hotel is a good forty minutes walk from the station if travelling by train! On arrival all was good. We enjoyed a good day in Cassis. The male receptionists were great. Organised a taxi for us for the train for our departure. The rooms are small but fine. The bed was changed but used coffee cups and glasses stayed and the bin in the room wasn't emptied. On our last morning we decided to have breakfast at the hotel before leaving. The female receptionist hardly acknowledged me as I stood waiting for service. I said twice that this morning only for breakfast. I paid. She gave me the print out AFTER I paid which showed breakfast for two mornings. Suddenly she spoke perfect English and said she had asked about breakfast both mornings! She couldn't credit the over payment. I can't believe she stood there and argued. I will ensure I get it back though. This left a very bad impression and I won't recommend this hotel to anyone. Primarily because of one person. Everyone on our trip to France had been great till this morning. Thank goodness we are moving on.

« Great view, disappointing room »

Well located and a quick walk to the marina. View was lovely from the dining area and the breakfast was very good Negatives, the rooms was tiny and the Internet quite poor. I wouldn't stay there for a week. But good enough for a night or two in my opinion

« Comfortable but no service »

What could have been a good stay was ruined by a virtual absence of any kind of service. Difficult to get drinks from the bar, no snacks, no poolside service, When we did get a glass of champage it was the end of the bottle and flat and so declined. The hotel were averse to opening a fresh bottle. Taxis were "difficile" and we checked out without transport to the train station 4k distant. Only a sympathetic mamager who, after I paid the 1200 Euro bill, offered us a staff member to take us to the station when I was clearly very disatisfied saved the day. Do not stay here.

« Nice hotel with great view. »

Staff was good and accommodating. Food was very good; but, view were superb. Could have stayed here for days just looking at the sea. Recommend a sea view room or the end room on a floor. Either are good to have. Driving up the hill is a challenge; go slow and be careful. Parking is tight; but, manageable. American cars would not fit at all. internet was terribly slow; but, did work. Overall an A-.

« Nice pool, disinterested staff »

We stayed here 2 nights in May 2016 on our way back through Cassis. We had stayed in Cassis just a few nights earlier but at a different hotel which was now fully booked. The rooms are well sized, but a bit shabby in places. Looks like it has been fixed up on the surface but that the work has been done cheaply and quickly. The breakfast was ok, not very much to choose from. We didn't have dinner here - we went back to the hotel we had stayed at earlier and ate there. The pool area is very nice, with heated pool, jacuzzi, and views. Just a shame that you have to walk in to the reception/bar to get a drink - I thought they would have pool service instead of wet people dripping at the bar. As for the staff being disinterested, I hope they were just having a bad day. Our stay was fine - but next time I will book earlier and stay at a different hotel in Cassis.

    « Cleanliness matches Service »

Traveling from the (California USA), we were exhausted and welcomed This hotel's level of cleanliness which makes the value of this hotel a no-risk. Couple the high level of cleanliness with the wonderfully respected service from the staff makes this hotel a 'must do'!

« Reasonable value accommodation in a tourist town »

We booked this hotel for a short "last of the summer sun" holiday in Cassis. We booked, and got, one of the hotel's most basic rooms. It was pretty small, without a balcony which the larger rooms have, but to be fair, it had everything we needed. The room was a bit rough around the edges, but it had been renovated recently - I think big hotels like this just have a very high occupancy rate, so get banged about quite quickly! The bathroom's best feature was its large shower, but the room was so small otherwise the towel rail was above the toilet so it was only possible to reach the bottom two rails (and I'm 173cm tall!) The pool area was great - and just as the picture shows on this website! The hot tub worked - somehow - we spent a couple of minutes pressing buttons to get it working and were about to give up, and then it miraculously started up! I saw someone complaining that the staff didn't speak English - to be fair the day time reception staff had excellent English, but the evening staff not as well - but then we are in France, and French is the local language... Overall I felt that for a touristy town, the accommodation and service was acceptable to good - you can definitely spend more money and get less in Cassis! It is also well located, just one street back from the port - it is a bit uphill, but not a hard walk - this is a hilly area after all. My main gripe is that internet wasn't available in the rooms and you had to go to the reception area to get it.

« Very Comfortable and Wonderful Staff »

This hotel was nice and comfy for the stop over we had. Our room had 2 twin beds, fairly large bathroom and a small ocean view balcony. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Mostapha was exceptional! He hung out with us in the lobby and advised on things to do in Cassis, as well as taking general interest in our travels and keeping us updated on current events (Turkey terrorist attack).

    « Poor service - good location »

The A/C in our room did not work and they would not do anything about it. It was Aug but still hot in the room. The wifi worked only in the lobby - they shrugged when I asked about it. The breakfast was poor - out of eggs at 8:00...? Staff 'didn't speak English' when they didn't want to be bothered. Location was nice, but on a steep hill with lots of steps. No lift in the hotel.

    « 2 night stop over »

We were initially quite horrified at the state of our bathroom, the grout was mouldy in several places and there was staining in the corners around the bath. We complained and within minutes several members of staff arrived in the room and immediately set to work with bleach to significantly improve the situation. They said they would do more the next day, and when we returned to the room after lunch we were surprised to find a man sitting in the bath. Luckily he was fully clothed and using a syringe of sealant around the tub. When he'd finished things looked much better. Although the room should have not been used in the state we found it, we couldn't fault the response to our comments. The rooms are very small and there was very little room for our suitcase. We had to put a chair on the balcony so we could move around. The bed was comfortable so we slept well. It is worth knowing that the hotel is quite a climb from the sea, so it could be an opportunity to improve fitness but not much fun for anyone with restricted mobility.

    « Disappointing for a Best Western »

Great views of the sea from the pool and reception area. Fairly central location. Room was small and didn't have much of a sea view from the balcony, bedding was dirty when we checked in and wanted to go for a nap- there was makeup on the pillows and hair in the bed which was vile. Complained at the desk and were not offered so much as an apology. The following day our coffee pods were replaced but our dirty cups weren't cleaned or replaced so I had to wash them myself in the sink. Shower was broken and soaked the whole bathroom every time we used it. Stairway was very dated and grotty, lights didn't work in the hallway to our room. Air con was useless and the hotel has no restaurant so we had to go out for tea every night which got a little tiresome. Nothing special at all. Disappointing and certainly not a Best Western at its best.

« The perfect holiday stay. »

This is a hotel that knows its business: the perfect holiday stay. From the bar and poolside sea views, to the large, cool and comfortable rooms and the warm, friendly staff, the Hotel La Rade creates a relaxing atmosphere of quiet, modern elegance. We stayed here for a few days in sweltering June. Knowing it was going to be hot in Cassis, the swimming pool was a big draw and it did not disappoint - and it's heated which is a big bonus. The location, just metres behind the bustling harbour, is an oasis of calm. Highly recommended.

The theme to this hotel is like the deck of a boat. The Junior suite is discretely located up a winding wooden spiral stair case which leads onto an exclusive decked sun bathing veranda with magnificent views of the Mediterranean, chateau, vineyards on the skyline which ends with the highest marine cliff in Europe as your backdrop. The suite is spacious and perfect to suit your needs, I loved it, bath big enough for two ( wink), also has a shower. The bed is large and super comfie. The room has remote control lock secure shutters which is another neat feature. The hotel boast an outdoor heated pool with jacuzzi and sun loungers. The atmosphere is very chilled and the buffet breakfast is generous and also healthy. I would definitely book the junior suite in Cassis again. The suite is more expensive than a standard room but worth it. It made our stay in Cassis very special and we would definitely book it again.

    « Gorgeous views »

Best Western La Rade boasts lovely views of the sea from their perch. They have a tasty petit déjeuner, but it is not complementary. The beds were comfy and room clean. My only complaint is the room did not look like the one I reserved online, it was much smaller and with 3 people that made things a bit tight. However, pool was delightful and staff very nice! I still recommend.

« Very hip, very modern hotel, right in Cassis. »

I hadn't stayed in a Best Western in, probably, 15 or 20 years prior to my stay here. But this property was recommended to us by a native when we were near St. Tropez prior as the place she stays when she travels to Cassis. I can see why. It's location is just superb. Walking distance to the Calanques. Offers free wi-fi. Rooms are large, clean, comfortable, bathrooms are immaculate, breakfast is excellent, view is amazing (from the pool and lobby), staff are friendly and helpful. They also offer limited private, individual garage parking. This is a unique experience as these garages are literally blasted into the side of a mountain. Think of it as a cave with a garage door. Getting into it is a challenge, even with a small car. But, if you have a car, try getting one of these spots. It beats parking on the street (which is also limited and somewhat challenging). Then park the car and leave it because you can literally walk anywhere here - to the Calanques, down to the marina and shopping, to restaurants, etc. The location of this hotel is just altogether great. Next time I am in Cassis, I will definitely return here.

« The view alone is worth it! »

Celena at reception made our experience here truly pleasurable and memorable! Thank you, Celena. You are a true professional! Our room was clean and comfortable and the views from the breakfast room and swimming pool are the best of any hotel in Cassis. I highly recommend this hotel. Enjoy!

    « Convenient and Nice »

Very good choice for staying in Cassis. Staff very helpful, great location. Parking limited but par for course. Good views and very nice pool/lounge area. This review requires too many characters. I do not have that much to say but I'll keep writing until I reach the minimum.

VERY WELL LOCATED AND FRIENDLY STAFF. I recommand the suite with a great view; breakfast is a real charme there and nothing to criticize for a week end; road may be a bit more Noisy on sunday due to tourism though.
