    « Don't skip the breakfast!! »

Nothing fancy about this place, but it was clean and had all of the necessities. An inexpensive motel, but the manager actually cooks the breakfast herself. If you don't want what she's preparing, she'll fix you something else. The breakfast room is like being in a friend's kitchen.

    « Old but charming »

This motel is off the beaten path. It is located in a quiet and peaceful spot. The rooms are furnished with old furniture. My grandmother had the same chairs and I remember my little sister had the same bedspread when she was 7 years old. However, the room was spotless. It was very, very clean. The bed was super comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again for sure.

    « Interesting location »

Made a pit stop on the way home from vacationing in Montana...arrived at 11pm at night and driving on the gravel road, it felt like we were heading into the cornfields but by morning realized it is in a nice residential area...the manager informed us they mostly serve the Ortman chiropractor clinic which is nearby...looks like it's a converted mom and pop motel, nice comfy beds and clean...the bathrooms have been updated and it has a small laundry microwave or fridge, at least not in our room...wifi worked fine...not many choices at breakfast but they do offer to make you fresh waffles...everyone is very pleasant at the front desk

    « Nice stopover »

Good for passing through, and apparently a lot of people stay here for the chiropractor nearby It looks sketchy from the outside, but it seems to be in a safe area. The only trouble is the noise. I had a hard time sleeping because every time someone shut a door it would echo throughout the building. It was cheap though, and the owner was very friendly.

« Not your typical Best Western »

Best Western seems to be improving on the quality of their properties in the last few years. This place does not fall into the "improved" category. Now understand, this property is not bad. The room is clean and what you would expect from a slightly better than average Mom and Pop hotel. But we were surprised to see it is a Best Western. The negatives include sloooow internet, a continental breakfast, a less than cordial owner and the hotel is on a dusty, gravel street. Cell service with my AT&T iPhone 6 is marginal and jumps back and forth from 4G to LTE. The positive thing is the price which is motive enough to keep this place in business. But as for our motorcycle riding group of six people, we will not be back again.

    « Canistot SD »

Greatly enjoyed the stay. The accommodations were great & the town was very interesting. If we are in South Dakota again we will definitely visit this place and possibly take advantage of the clinic in town.

« Just as good as the last time I was here »

I stayed here two years ago and it is as good as the last time. Check-in was a breeze and the desk attendant was very friendly. After returning from dinner, I went to the front desk to obtain a wifi password. Jim, the owner, was at the desk and I talked to him for a few minutes. Just as personable as the last time we were here. This is a great place to stay if you are in the area. Small place but very comfortable.

    « best breakfast yet! »

I stopped here on the way to a business event. Ar first I thought it was hard to get to, but just followed the signs. The motel is quiet, clean, and hearing birds singing was a plus. The Check In man was no end of helpful and gave me all the details I needed. Got up the next morning and after I turned down the breakfast lady's offer to make me pancakes, she offered a breakfast sandwich. It was grand. Egg had a real yolk yet, the bacon was crisp and great. And it was all piping hot. I might be tempted to just stay again for the breakfast!

    « Hidden Gem »

We have traveled through SD many times, but this time were delayed in our departure. I looked for a Best Western Hotel at approximately the right distance (length of time) between Winnipeg and Denver and found this BW property. It is a hidden Gem. The 'Staff" were the "owners" who said that they prided themselves on the cleanliness. It certainly was clean and had clearly been updated and maintained. It also was extremely quiet (5 miles from the interstate) I would recommend this hotel and say that its worth the drive off the interstate for the value, cleanliness and quiet experience!

    « Local Gem! »

Owners Judy and Jim Hale are awesome! They were attentive to all my needs starting with my late arrival for the evening of my return. Judy fixed a virtually made to order breakfast with REAL eggs, not the curdley ones at larger hotels. She was cheerful. Jim started my room heater prior to my late arrival on a chilly night. I was so amazed at their hospitality. The rooms were in perfect condition. And they were impeccably clean! They continually noted I just had to ask for any need to be met. They also were like that with the other customers. Wish they could manage every hotel! The hotel is in the picturesque, quiet town of Canistota, South Dakota.

    « Pl;easant Accomodations »

Owners run a first class establishment for the area. This a small town area and a very well run motel. Owners are present every day and strive to accomadate their guests needs. Highly recommend that people go out of their way in the area to enjoy this motel. Great value.

    « Amazing yet inexpensive »

I never review hotels, but felt compelled to review this Best Western because of our amazing experience there. It was truly a little oasis on our drive out west. The room was excellently furnished and they even gave us breakfast the next morning. The owners were extremely friendly. The place was sort of off a ways from I-90, but was absolutely worth the stop.

    « Great Value! »

The owner Jim is great! Very friendly and makes you feel right at home. Stayed in a larger room with a fully equipped kitchen ( pans and dishes too) which is nice to have when staying in hotels for weeks on end. Town is quite which makes it easy to get a good nights sleep. Stayed here for 3 nights and would stay again if I'm ever in the area.

    « Clean »

Friendly family operation, attention to customers, however out of way location means lack of attractions closeby. On the other hand very quiet and restful stay. Room was recently updated and was very comfortable.

« Motel with bed and breakfast feel »

The owners run the motel themselves and obviously treat the place with care. They made us French toast for breakfast. While it doesn't look all that impressive from the outside, the rooms are completely updated with new furniture and fixtures. Most importantly, it is clean.

    « Small but Great »

My second stay here and both were excellent. Off the beaten path of both I-29 and I-90, all ground floor rooms with parking at the door. I consider that important just for the extra security for my motorcycle. Modern, comfortable room, good bed and a large TV. Quite. And a superior breakfast, too. Try it and you'll like it.

« The "Best" at Best Western! »

Needed a place to stay for a week for daily treatments at the Ortman Clinic in Canistota, South Dakota. This worked perfectly! Our room was clean, had a king-size bed, a shower with a whirl pool tub, which provided comfort after visiting the chiropractors, and a heat lamp that worked! Offered WiFi and lots of choices of channels for TV. We definitely will stay at the Best Western in Canistota again.

« Great rest stop on our way to Mt. Rushmore »

This was our first stop (we have family in this area) on our way to see Mt. Rushmore. From check in to check out, everything was perfect for our one night stay. The room was very spacious, clean and to our satisfaction. The beds were comfortable and the motel was quiet. The Wi-fi worked great. They did offer a complimentary breakfast, which we were not able to try, as we were on the road quite early. Would stay there again.

    « Nice Place »

Really a nice place. I enjoyed myn stay very much ! Staff was very helpful. Quiet area. Liked the breakfast. It was a bit out of the way from the interstate, but it was well worth the trip to get there.
