Best Western California City Inn & Suites

We were given a tiny room above the lobby. We were shocked how small it was, and we are rewards program members. We could not open our 2 suitcases at the same time due to furnishing constrictions. The window view was blocked by the shelter over the lobby parking. It was very quiet, the bed was comfy, and we slept well. The bathroom shower was one of my wife's favorites of all time; adjustable water and roomy. When open, the bathroom door blocked the main room door which was weird and awkward. The breakfast was typical. Downstairs they were replacing the common area flooring and the work looks good. Pool was closed.

Only thing is i WISH there was room service for people with anxiety and i wish checkout time was more around 1 or 2 pm instead of 11am if i am paying 130+ a night i wanna be able to leave when i want during the day

We travel to this location to visit family every few months. We are always welcomed by the friendly staff and always enjoy our stay. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, and the staff is very attentive. It always feels like home away from home when we visit.

I had called down to get Wi-Fi pass code the gentleman told me he wrote it on the pass key and then told me I was bothering him during his breakfast preparation, I came down to show him it was no written on my pass key and then I said I would contact the office later, I walked away to the elevator to go back to my room and the gentleman followed me and then put his foot in the door so I couldn't leave, I actually had leave the elevator and get another one. I get back to my room to a phone ringing off the hook, so I took it off and then a knock on the door from the gentleman wanting to cause me more anxiety, a very scary experience.

While traveling and finding the best place to stay, there is no other than BW. We are guaranteed a wonderful and breakfast. Absolutely love it. We also enjoy seeing our reward points grow with every visit. We are greeted with a snack bag and water bottles.

I am impressed with this hotel. It is very clean, remote from town/quiet, the staff is super! It is about 10 minutes off of Hwy 58. If you have an extra 20 minutes to add to your trip, relax here.

The carpets are dirty and look as though they have never been shampooed. Stains and sticky residue on furniture. The elevator was making a scary sound and broke during our stay. Even after “fixing” it (never saw a crew working in it when they said it was being fixed) it would slam open/closed and be super delayed making us feel like we could get stuck in it. The staff was nonchalant overall

We had the best experience at this hotel, and most of what made it so great was Jasper who helped us with our stay. He was super friendly, informative, and accommodating! He definitely goes above and beyond. The rooms are so clean! If you want to stay at a place that is refreshing and well taken care of this is the place! Thank you Best Western!

Started off great at the check-in desk. Clerk was nice, and friendly, room was a bit expensive for an older hotel, but I do believe its the only hotel in town. When we went up to our room, we could tell the age of the place. Our room seemed aged, but clean. Bed was pretty uncomfortable and they have these half size pillows to sleep with. Strange and uncomfortable. Air conditioner was making strange noises, or at lease we think that the noise was coming from it...but light noises of something in the room. Internet was down the attire time while we were there. I had to make them aware of the problem by going down to the desk to tell them I could not sign in, clerk then realized something was wrong. Ice machine on floor 2 had tiny bits of black frozen into the cubes..not in every cube but we pulled out several cubes from our collection-Was already upset with the internet that I just was giving up on thinking positive about this place, wishing I went a bit further to check in to another town. Bathroom- no space for makeup bag, shower only -no tub. Lighting in the bathroom and room very dim This was an overcharged King size room. being something during the week should be half the price. Did not eat at the free breakfast only had their coffee. They gave me a $10 credit for the internet not working. Staff at desk all were nice. Housekeeping looked exhausted. Now the best thing about our stay was our dinner out at Gloria's Mexican Food...REALLY good food, clean place, don't be fooled about the outside. Margaritas where great too. Desk clerk was right on about the best place to eat. California City is a very small town. Would I stay here again...no! I travel a lot and think the price of the rooms were way to high for what you get, but if you are the only place in town, they can get away with it.

The room was big and provided everything that I needed. Having a small refrigerator and microwave is always great...and the refrigerator was actually ON! Temperature in the room was good and unit was quiet. I travel with my dog and being at the end of the hallway was a plus. I missed breakfast since I was out taking photos at Red Rock Canyon but the arrangement in the dining room was welcoming. Would definitely stay here again the next time I am in the area.

Clean and safe feeling. The food was better than expected for continental breakfast. The bed was decent, the bathrooms clean, everything worked. The staff was very friendly. I'm used to staying at Marriott but I will gladly stay here again.

I love this Best Western. It's my go-to place to stay whenever I am in California City. The staff is incredibly professional, friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and quiet. There are stairs and an elevator to access upper floors. I love that they're dog friendly and there are places around the property to walk your dog. Quick and easy access to freeways and restaurants. Stable, reliable, free Internet service. Comfortable beds, in room fridge. It's hard to beat at the price point.

Staff was very friendly; nice and clean.facility; lobby was very accomodating with coffee and cookies; breakfast was on tie in the morning.bed was very comfortable. i liked the hotel due to proximity of business site I was ging to visit.

This franchise continues to suck. Thanks for the reminder. What happened to hotels providing a box of kleenex and a notepad and pen? All these jerks had was a bible for an atheist. I'm really tired of the booking games where you get ripped off with a much higher rate if you don't shop the booking through outside booking agencies or online. Totally wrong when calling the hotel results in much higher price.

My brother in law lives in California city and Best Western is the ONLY hotel there. So when we stayed, I was expecting much, but to my surprise the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and everything worked.

Very clean and nice hotel. GPS took us a little out of our way, but we finally found it. They served a hot breakfast in the morning, which we appreciated. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Pleasant stay.

This Best Western was way better than we expected. We booked a 3 night stay, due to having to attend a funeral, and also to spend time with family locally. We booked the mobility accessible, 2 queen room and it was clean, and spacious. We decided to book a 4th night at the last moment, and the staff was super accomodating, very helpful and very friendly. We will definitely be booking here again later this summer.

Visiting family at Edwards and stayed here for 3 nights. Made an impromptu call and Jasper was able to get me and my family setup for our stay in a moments notice. Jasper was super helpful getting us situated offering helps and even helped me order a pizza from Jesse's. The room was clean and the rest of staff were nice and supportive.

During my travels a family emergency took place and I had to drive straight home (throughout the night). The Best Western was unwilling to cancel my reservation and charged me for the room. They were also unwilling to credit my account so that I could stay at Best Western on a future trip. It's a shame Best Western is willing to forego customer service and charge a retired person (or anyone for that matter) for a room that was not used.

This Best Western is a great value. The rooms are exactly what you expect from a mid-range hotel, but they are clean, comfortable and spacious. What sets the hotel apart is its staff. We received a warm, personal welcome from Jasper in the evening and enjoyed chatting with him after we checked in. And Emma at the breakfast bar was amazing, helping kids operate the cereal and juice machines, and checking on every guest to ensure that they found what they were looking for. We only stayed for a night while traveling from Yosemite to Las Vegas, but because of the staff who made us feel like we were at home, we would have been comfortable staying multiple days here.

After Spending a day Jeeping around the Mojave Desert it was a pleasure to stop into to the Best Western . Everything was great! We're going back in a few weeks to finish our explorations and look forward to another nice night.

We have stayed at the Best Western California City several times. The staff is amazing and so is the complimentary breakfast. The rooms are modern and clean. We motorcycle in the desert so we stay at Best Western. It's perfect to ride all day and then be able to return to the hotel to a hot shower and a comfortable bed.

The hotel is ok for an overnight stay, but the room was a bit old and run down. The staff were polite and helpful, but unfortunately a misunderstanding occurred so another family was also checked in and and given the key to our room. (which must never happen!)

Javier was so personable and helpful. Right from the start he was helpful with making the reservation and accommodating our needs.It's nice to have great customer service when traveling.We will for sure stay there again

Nicely appointed new hotel at the (current) edge of California City. A good place to stop if you are heading east or west on 58. (Beats 10!) The room was very clean with all the amenities. Did not use the breakfast option. However, down the street is Carolyn's Southern Cooking. (Best for take out.) The food is amazing. For dinner I had black eye peas, collard greens and candied yams. (Comes with corn muffin.) But if you are a meat eater, she's got whatever species you prefer. There is a park across the street from the hotel—a great place for walking your dog. This visit was the highlight of a many days' journey.

I've been staying at this hotel for a long time. I would say the Last 5 Years at least four times a year. I have never had any better service than I've had staying here in the last 3 months. I've got to know three housekeepers by the names of Samantha Luciana and a lady named Anisha. They clean my room so good. I have watched the other ladies walk by my room not clean up. There is even a lady downstairs that does the breakfast in the morning during the week except Thursdays and Fridays now that I clearly see on her iPad for at least a good three hours while the other girls are running around doing everything. I'm not understanding why this girl isn't helping them. They need more housekeepers like the three that I mentioned. These girls have made me come back with a better attitude. I wish every Hotel had housekeepers like these three. I love when the housekeepers can speak English and I can relay to them any problems and questions that I have. The other housekeepers aren't bilingual and I feel lost when I'm talking to them. I also have to mention mr. C a r m i l, he is the best front desk attendant with a great attitude and very helpful. I could do with better sheets sometimes they are crispy and hard. Other than that my stay was great. Two management if you're reading this please keep those housekeepers they are great! Thank you Carmil also you are a real winner.

Friendly and professional staff, clean and modern Motel, centrally located to visit Edwards AFB/NASA and plenty to do in the area, great value, and pet friendly. Offers a great breakfast for all types of eaters, dog park across the street, and is a great example of the Best Western Brand offering discounts and rewards.

Staff need to have things like batteries on hand instead of saying they will have someone bring it to your room in the morning. Witch they never showing up in the morning .i would be very very help full

We were driving back from Utah and chose this hotel to stay mid way. Night staff was pleasant. We had booked a small room because of it just being an overnight. The room appeared clean. The bathroom shower tile was moldy. The bath products were in large pump containers in the shower...the shower jell was empty. The tv didn't work. We were so tired and we didn't want anyone in the room to fix, we just said “forget it”. In the morning when getting into the elevator a young man with no face mask tried to board. It is posted only 2 people max. When checking out I mentioned the things above and the desk person didn't seem to care. The unmasked person then walked by and out the door. If they require face masks, then they need to enforce. Will we return, probably not.

During my stay power went off and only the lights in lobby was working, no room backup power. No Ac/heater, no lights in room. Even the elevator does not work. I had to walk down to ask what was going on because in room phone and reception phone does not work. Only a teenager was there. And he don't have a clue. Can't think if this happened on summer... Payed $100 for bad sleep before a long drive back home. This will be my First and last Stay in BW. I will not recommend with family

All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. From booking our stay, to check in, all while we stayed and through till check out - they were great and very accommodating. Our experience was above what we expected given the circumstances we are all in with this pandemic. Our experience will certainly have us returning to this hotel. Thanks much...

Very satisfied I would definitely book again staff was friendly room was clean did not have any issues. Too bad the pool was closed due to Covid but overall satisfied with my stay here would recommend this place to anyone i know

We stopped here after being unable to drive anymore so our next destination and it was getting very late. I looked at the reviews and took a chance. Absolutely perfect and just what we needed after a long day. The night front desk young man was extremely pleasant and wonderful. The room was 100% quiet. The climate control worked perfectly. The beds were absolutely perfect. Soft but not too soft. The linens were nice. I loved how in the shower they had the soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers mounted on the wall. The towels were nicely organized in a rack in the bathroom. It was nice to see a pool although it was closed due to the coronavirus. The gentleman at the front desk in the morning when we woke up was extremely nice and pleasant as well. Place was 100% clean and furnishings were on point. It was the perfect little stop over for us for a little oasis during a long trip.

The customer service from booking until check-in was really amazing; the small town feeling with the big city accommodations. I really enjoyed how everything was well kept, the general manager was very accommodating to us with our stay.

This was a very clean, well maintained hotel. Very quiet and off the beaten path. Close to Red Rock Canyon State Park. Staff was all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of options for every appetite. Highly recommend this hotel!

I recently stayed at the California City Best Western and while everything was super clean, which I appreciated, the television didn't work the whole night. Nearest movie theater is 40 miles away in Lancaster. The front desk attendant said it was common for the DirectTv to not work in the rain or windy conditions, which to me, is not acceptable. Awoken at 12:20am by neighbors coughing, talking and laughing for 40 minutes, which was also unacceptable. Coffee and vanilla creamer in lobby was a nice treat.

They didn't honor the price advertised by them on their site. My TV didn't work but they changed my room. Tidy. Decent breakfast typical for a BW They were giving a free night if you stayed for two within a period

I'm not kidding when I say that this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. For the money, it's probably #1 on my list. I stay here any time I'm not renting a motor home while riding in Cal City. The free, very well made breakfast is outstanding. Kudos to Best Western for creating a great hotel experience when nobody was expecting it.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean including the common areas and hallways The local newspaper in the morning and cookies at night are nice features. The room was comfortable. Everything worked. The bathroom has just a shower, no tub, which normally if fine. But the floor is slippery with no texture to allow grip and no non-slip pad.There could at least be hand holds in the shower stall.

Great place to stay. My family and I all ready are planning a trip back in June and again at Christmas. Staff wonderful. Staff great with are dog. Everybody made us feel as if we were part of the family. Cookies were great.

This hotel is in very good almost new condition. Very neat and clean and well cared for. Breakfast area well stocked, good variety. Really liked their pancake machine. Room was spacious with walk in shower. No complaints about this location.

This hotel has wonderful staff, the rooms are clean and roomy, the bathrooms are wonderful. We will continue to stay at this hotel. Most of the rooms overlook the golf course which makes for great views. Good job on this hotel, service and quality.

Well kept property. Clean throughout, our room was updated (decor) and comfortable. The staff are super nice and helpful. The breakfast area is clean, the hot foods served (eggs, bacon, sausage) are low quality and not hot. You will have to microwave them. The fruits and breads are good, coffee, not so much, Improvement needed. Next time I come to California City I will stay at this Best Western Hotel, and I will recommend to others.

We were very pleased with our accommodations at Best Western. The hotel looked nice, the room was spacious and very clean. We had breakfast both mornings and were surprised at the choices of food-so many-both pancakes and waffles! We joined the club where we got a free night after we stayed for two nights.

I travel to the area once a year and always look forward to returning to the Best Western in Cal City. The Hotel Staff is by far the most professional, kind and helpful of any Hotel I have been to. They all go above and beyond expectations to make your stay as wonderful and comfortable as possible. Love them all.

Booked the whirlpool room where you could actually stretch out in the tub and have a good soak. The breakfast attendant was very attentive to the guests including me. Very clean property in my view and the interior really looked nice. Quality of the room was on par when compared to other Best Western locations I stayed at. Can't beat the price for the area. Would prefer that location over the Mojave, CA location as my wife and I use the Mojave, CA area as a stay over prior to going into the Los Angeles/Inland Empire are or going back home heading north. The location was worth diverting off of CA 14 or U.S. 395 and spending at least one night. Wish I could have enjoyed the accommodations longer. As I normally state in my reviews to each their own in what everyone can afford and what type of accommodations they want. Everyone will always have their own preference and opinion and I am honest enough to give any property a lower rating if it doesn't live up to my expectations. I hope to return to this location and hope the location stays as a Best Western in California City, CA known as the third largest city in CA by land. Safe travels everyone!

My husband and I got our car stuck in sand about 9 miles away from here in a park, and a good Samaritan drove us to this hotel. We only had the clothes on our backs, our wallets, and our cell phones. The evening receptionist, Mariah, was extremely helpful in finding us a charger for our cell phones, and in personally asking a few friends that night if they knew anyone who had a 4x4 pickup to help tow our car out, since both AAA and our auto insurance wouldn't touch it with their big tow trucks...that'll be another review! Anyway, other than great staff, the entire room was very comfortable, and hot breakfast was delicious, since our dinner had only been some stuff we could purchase at the Dollar General Grocery store about a mile down the road. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and recommend a good raise for Mariah!

My wife and I stopped at the BW California City after a day of hiking in the Mojave. We selected it because it was a good stopping off point on our way to Lake Isabella. Turns out, it was a great choice. It's an excellent hotel! The check-in was a breeze with friendly and efficient check-in staff. One of the staff members (a young lady) was training up a new employee (a young man) and doing a great job. A few minutes after arrival, we were in our room. The room was fantastic. Spacious, super-clean, well appointed with refrigerator, coffee-maker and large screen TV. The bed was so comfortable with crisp pure cotton sheets. The final icing-on-the-cake came in the morning at breakfast. Despite the fact that this was a 'limited' breakfast, it was wonderful. There was everything that you could wish for. Cereals, yoghurts, fruit, waffles, pancakes, bagels, toast etc. And the lady that was coordinating everything was so friendly and helpful. The ONLY downside to the BSCC is that there's really nothing to do there. California City is a teeny little out of the way town that really doesn't have much of anything going on. There's a single main road, perhaps 1-2 miles long, with a couple of gas stations, a grocery store (or two) and a smattering of smaller shops and restaurants. It is NOT a tourist destinaion. But, that's also one of the great things about this location. It's quiet and peaceful. I have no hesitation in giving the Best Western California City a '5'. It really is excellent!

During our 2 1/2 week vacation we stayed at this BW. It was a little out of our way, but worth it. The BW is nice, friendly staff, great pool for evening and morning swims, nice fitness center, and good breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable beds.

Being the only hotel around, it didn't have to be as nice as it was. Great staff. Clean rooms. An absolute pleasure. If you are looking for a place to stay anywhere around, don't hesitate to make this your choice.

The hotel was great with a clean comfortable room. Staff was courteous and friendly very professional. Excellent continental breakfast. Major problem for us were the hardness of the bed mattresses. We found the beds to be extremely uncomfortable and did not sleep for most of the night. I would be curious to know if you offer rooms with softer mattresses. If one cannot sleep, this tends to ruin the whole experience. The rest of the hotel amenities were excellent. Any suggestions for more comfortable sleeping arrangements would be greatly appreciated. The reason we decided to visit California City simply for the obscurity of the Third Largest City in California (By Area). We were amazed by the empty streets and the vast open desert surrounding the area. Along with the uninhabited landscape, there was a bit of an edge to city. However, this hotel is modern, clean and has a delicious continental breakfast. Perhaps I was distracted by the staggering amount of wind turbines on the landscape, but I managed to forget my laptop in the hotel. I called and was greeted by a very friendly man named Carmil who told me that he would do his best to find my computer. I got a call the next day that it had been found the day earlier but left with the manager due to the value of it. Since picking it up from the hotel was not an option I emailed him a Shipping Label that was prepaid to my address. I got prompt email replies and my computer was in the mail the next day. I am really happy with my stay at Best Western California City and I am especially happy that my computer was in such safe hands and arrived in the exact same condition I forgot it in. Thanks A lot !

I don't write reviews often but felt this place really deserved a shout out! The staff is friendly and helpful. The accommodations are spotless! They've got a great breakfast bar. If you're in California City or someplace nearby, stay here!

Nice hotel with very friendly staff! Rooms are very nice and clean. Comfy beds! Breakfast was very good and once again very nice people that helped out with everything including helping my daughter make a chocolate chip waffle!

The hotel was great and the staff so friendly and helpful. I came to watch my grandson play baseball across the street. Very convenient. We had a lovely BBQ outside on the picnic bench, a lovely evening. Didn't even mind the earthquake.

We traveled from Phoenix to attend my nephew's high school graduation party at Edwards Air Force Base and needed a hotel close by. Who knew in the middle of the Mojave desert in this little town there would be such a clean, dog friendly hotel with the friendliest staff ever. Our breakfast host, Emma, was so cordial and kept the breakfast area clean and replenished. She loved our dog and even remembered our dog's name. Housekeeper Maggie was so friendly, had a great smile and loved our dog. Maggie was very accommodating when my husband took the towels to wash our car and left me with one. She brought me more towels fresh out of the dryer. The front desk staff equally as friendly as well as other staff members. Complimentary breakfast was good with a lot of items to choose from. And lastly, if you are traveling with a dog, there is a dog park conveniently across the street with shade trees and park benches. We weren't sure what to expect way off the beaten path but we were pleasantly surprised.

...between a good and a memorable stay. The hotel did not fail to meet all our expectations for a Best Western. Large, clean, comfortable rooms but we were in awe when we came down for breakfast. We found Emma there who went beyond our expectations to make our little one happy. We really think this is what makes customers feel truly at home when away!

This is a great hotel, the rooms are very nice and comfortable, the staff are very nice and helpful, the breakfast was great, (MORE BACON PLEASE), I was working at Edwards AFB, the drive is 30 to 40 minutes away, I will stay at this Hotel everytime I come to this area to work, definitely a Hotel worth staying at, now it's time to head back to Texas, see you California on the next road trip, Best Western in California City is the place to stay

Very comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms, good quiet and safe location juat a few blocks off the highway. The Staff was very friendly and very helpful. I liked breakfast a lot. In my opinion, excellent value. The hotel should definitely be a full 3 star hotel, not 2.5.

I've been giving workshops at the California City Prison for two years and staying at the Best Western exclusively. The facilities are great (recently upgraded), location perfect and the staff are amazing, caring people. I look forward to my visits.

We highly recommend staying here. The staff is sooo helpful and kind. Makes our stay so comfortable. Mariah, Carmil, Emnma and Gina, are always so helpful with everything from nice place to eat that has great food or just general knowledge of the surrounding area. We always look forward to our stay. The staff was real nice and helpful, stayed in room 327 for 3 nights and on the last night I was bit by a bed bugs worst experience I ever had will never stay it this location again, I emailed the manager a picture of the bug and ask her to fix this problem so it won't happen again to another guest, she never replied back...

A good hotel experience. Comfortable, spacious and clean room with what we've come to expect with the Best Western Plus product. A little outside the main drag and far from highway 14 and 58, but within a quick drive of picturesque Red Rock Canyon and Edwards Air Force Base, if you are working there. Full buffet breakfast and excellent service; the front desk and restaurant staff were friendly.

The hotel is decent. First thing I saw when I came in was non finished and half painted wall. Was on the second floor and walls are worse than paper thin. Fan and toilet are so noisy you cant sleep thru it. Breakfast is good. Very sweet girl serving it. She is actually the only redeeming factor. BEWARE if you ask for 2 beds they up charge you. Because I travel so much I usually get 2 beds so I can work on the other. Unfortunately I had to stay here. Checked in late and due to circumstances beyond my control I needed to stay longer. Asked managment who said I could stay one hour but after that they would charge me for a full day. Every other hotel would maybe charge an amount for a few hours passed but not even with full explanation they basically told me tough. There is another medical circumstance that I explained and again tough. Asked if they were sold out today no... They have no common decency at all. Funny I deal with 5 star hotels with more compassion. I guess that's what you get when you deal with egotistical people. And on top of all of this lately Best Western has been trying to get my group business and have been telling me how much they have changed, upgraded their hotels, upgraded customer services. REALLY YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW BY STAYING HERE. REAL SHAME

Best place in town to stay- easy access, clean, Happy staff and a good breakfast. Take your cup of coffee and enjoy the youth baseball games across the street Saturday morning! And don't forget to join in with Hot Legs Karaoke at the VFW the second Saturday of every month- open to the public.

We were traveling south on 395 and needed a place to stay for the night and decided to stay at the BW in California City. It was not a mistake. The hotel is quite new and very clean. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good too. Recommended.

I enjoyed my 3 nights stay there. Quick check in and great breakfast I had a nice time just getting away with my boyfriend.Very clean room and quiet hotel I will def stay there again. Good deals on the rooms there to.

Nice motel in a podunk town. Had a King whirlpool room. Enjoyed the whirlpool but not all functions worked. Clean modern comfortable room, but somewhat noisy in the hallway. Pool not open yet in April.

Stayed two nights while visiting Red Rock Canyon state park. Room was nice as was bathroom. Very clean and well kept overall. Breakfast is the typical continental fare-make your own waffles, eggs and bacon, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt and toasted items. Very fine and an attentive waitress too. Very nice stay.

Tons of things wrong but missing soap and shampoo. Super loud don't expect to sleep. Can hear everything going on above and besides your room. We're redoing the hotel until what seems like late in the middle of no where.

Upon on checking in I noticed how cle.an the facility was and how friendly everyone was. The rooms were very clean, spacious and the bed was really comfy. The afternoon cookies were an unexpected treat. Great breakfast

One night was $129 for a room with a somewhat working jetted tub, not impressed for the price. Also, the room is average quality and somewhat clean, could use a remodel with some updated decor. The breakfast area was clean and organized but due to the last visit we skipped it, it was terrible food on our last visit. Will end up staying again in the future because it is the ONLY hotel in California city CA so no other choice

I was overcharged nearly $100 for a one night stay. I booked the room through Booking.com for $136.19 and my credit card was charged $227.19. I have not called the hotel yet but will be shortly and I will change my rating after I get my refund. Other quests have reported being overcharged as well.

This has been the best Best Western I have stayed at. The Staff and management are the best! The hotel and rooms are very clean, comfortable and well managed. The staff is very friendly and caring. I work on a large project near by and this feels like my second home.

We use this hotel for our base when exploring the surrounding mountains and deserts with our Jeep club. It is the only hotel of this quality within many miles of the location. We feel lucky to have it available. It is extremely clean, well maintained, and the staff is charming and helpful.

This was a random stop on a California road trip. We travelled as a Mum & 2 adult daughters group. We were enroute from Paso Robles to Joshua Tree and needed a midway stop. This was an excellent choice for the quality of the room - I've stayed in many 5* properties that this would sit alongside. The bathroom was spacious too and had all you'd expect from a higher ranked room. There was plenty of spare space around the two double beds for suitcases. The room also had a microwave and fridge. TV was huge and WIFI was fast and free. There was a warm welcome when we arrived from a guy who took the trouble to draw a map to a sunrise spot in Red Rock Canyon State Park (Ill write more in my review about this). The breakfast was better than the average 'lobby breakfast' and offered not-so-sweet options too - something, as Brits, we were craving! A great hotel at the cost of a motel.

Our volunteer team stays at this hotel each time we visit the prison for Christian Ministry weekends and the staff is always friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfast provided very good and the overall experience exceeds expectations!

On our way to Death Valley we stayed here. The hotel is definitely the nicest place in this tiny town. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They are also pet friendly for a fee. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel during Wasteland Weekend. Our room was very clean, no weird stains or smells. The room was very quiet. The king bed was comfortable and we appreciated the five pillows (we are both pillow hogs). The flat screen TV was nice, and the remote worked perfectly. The white towels in the bathroom were clean and soft.The only shortcoming was the free breakfast, which ran out of hot food items on both mornings of our stay. The hostess was clearly working as hard as she could but she was overwhelmed by the number of guests. The hotel should should schedule additional help during times of high occupancy.

Great overall stay here, front desk & breakfast personnel were very courteous and helpful. Great hot & cold breakfast, especially since I was lactose intolerant. They had Silk milk for my cereal. They only need to improve their housekeeping because they kept on "Not" replenishing my towels, soaps, shower mat.

Very big but very quiet hotel with swimming pool. Room was spacious and clean, although air conditioning was noisy. Mariah on reception was very helpful - helped order a takeaway from Dimaggio's Pizzeria.

If you are visiting Death Valley (South entrance) - after a day at Sequoia Park for instance - this Best Western is an interest option. Very friendly and helpful staff, big rooms with 2 queen size beds, small but clear water pool, ok breakfast with waffle and pancake machines, fruits ... In the evening you can see night owls flying around the roof lights. The only issue is the noise of the air conditioning, so if you don't mind sleeping in a warm room, you will get a good sleep.

We had to make a stop on our way up to Mammoth and stumbled into this hotel at 9 pm. Staff is really super friendly and helpful. At 9 am the night manager shows us several different rooms to be able to accommodate our family in the best possible way. At the breakfast buffet they rearranged the tables for us so that we could watch the World Cup. Great place. Clean and friendly.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was a comfy room. It was very clean and well made. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. When I checked in they greeted me and welcomed me in a very professional manner. I stayed here for 2 nights and it was a great stay.

Really clean. I stopped here overnight on my way to Las Vegas. The hotel rooms were fresh and clean, the pool area was very clean too. we were very pleased with the stay. I put my film crew of 50+ people at this hotel for 4 days, and I have to say that they were beyond accommodating. Nimisha, and her staff bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. Handling all of our last minute changes and requests with grace! The rooms were PLENTY spacious and the ACs were very cold, which is great for a hotel in the 105+ degree desert. There is plenty of parking, very clean lobby, decent breakfast in the morning, and really good wifi. I'd not only recommend this hotel for Film Crews/Large Groups, but anyone who is passing through California City!

The hotel was very clean as was the room, The walls are paper thin and you can hear noises from everywhere, If your a light sleeper, not good. The eggs for breakfast could have been real, they looked like they were out of a box.

This city only has one motel however they don't act like the only place in town. The service staff was excellent and cheerful and the hot breakfast was normal for this class. The room was small. They may have bigger and if you are looking for more room would need to look a little closer. Since we were here to visit somebody it worked find and didn't need a lot of room to hang out.

Was a great hotel. The breakfast was nice. Waffles and pancakes eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, juice, toast, bagels, yogurt, fruit. Very clean! Great staff! The pool had just opened back up. Very nice. Not heated pool but in the middle of the day was nice.

Have been coming since December doing a job at the Air Force. Staff was pleasant and helpful at all times. Mariah, Carmil, Annabelle, Nimisha, Emma, lauren all brightened my day and the teams day. Best wishes to all of you. You all became like family to myself and my team.

If for some odd reason you have to spend the night in California city, your options are very limited but this hotel is a surprisingly nice place to stay overnight. The furnishings in the room were top quality, the customer service was friendly and the bed was comfortable, BUT the negatives are very poor sound-proofing and almost nothing to do in the immediate area, and the breakfast was average at best. Also, one strange thing was that this was the first hotel I have ever stayed at where I could not run the room fan to drown out the noisy neighbors. You can turn the A/C or heat on but no fan option. Luckily I had a white noise generator app so just ran that and slept good. If you are passing thru the area and need a place to stay overnight, this hotel is a good choice.

I certainly wasn't expecting a lot since we were going to the desert but was pleasantly surprised. I found the staff to be friendly and the hotel room to be clean. One complain't I have about the suite is it is advertised as a queen bed with a pull out couch. The pull out couch is a twin bed. I placed our 11 and 10 year old on it and kissed them good night. My husband and I had a visitor who couldn't sleep in the middle of the night and ended up in bed with us. Next time I would request a rollaway. Other than that the room did the job. I was surprised there were 2 bathrooms in the suite. The other issue I had with the hotel although it was not the hotels problem but the guests was the parking situation. Some selfish people felt the need to park their trucks and trailers with dirt bikes in them parallel taking up to 4 spots leaving those with a regular vehicle no place to park. There were other places these people could have easily parked their trucks and trailers since they have the means to go over a curb unlike a minivan. If visiting Cal City again I would have no problem staying here again.

come here every Thanksgiving. We continue to pay the constant price hikes because it is the only location in town. The rest of our family stays at our relative's home or at another hotel in Mojave. They feel the extra 30 minute drive is worth the better price. We will continue to use the facility but we would like the rest of our family to stay here as well.It would be nice if this hotel could compete in price with the best western in Mojave and elsewhere.The breakfast is pretty good and the rooms are well maintained.

We normally stay at 5 star chains and had to stay at the Best Western. Did much research and looked at pictures was pleasantly surprised at the reviews and pictures submitted so it helped us to make a choice. The room is nice not 5 stars but nicely appointed same with the bathroom. We have experience 2 occasions when the room was not serviced. We bring our own cleaning supplies and carry extra sheets and blankets. Only thing I will complain about is the AC/heating unit in room is very loud when it kicks in. Front desk staff have been very accommodating on each time we needed assistance. Here visiting friends.

We had a king room with a sofa “bed”, the mattress was a glorified blanket. My 60 lb son was basically laying on metal bars. Front desk told me everyone knows that sofa beds are this way and I shouldn't have expected it to be serviceable as a bed. My response to this is that if the hotel markets the couch as a sofa bed, it should serve the purpose of a bed, not a medieval torture device. I was grudgingly provided with a rollaway mattress to add extra padding, and expected to be grateful that I wasn't charged the normal extra fee for the mattress. During this whole exchange, the front desk person spoke to me rudely and disrespectfully. The king bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The hotel was clean. The rooms were clean. I agree with one of the previous guests, bring pillow cases or ask for them. T hey were more than happy to bring me extras. The beds were comfortable and our view was pretty. There was a small issue with our reservations, no fault of the hotel. The front desk employees went above and beyond to try every means to get this issue settled so we did not have to drive 3 hours back home. And it was settled to the satisfaction of all, and we are very grateful they were so accommodating. I also was surprised by the very nice breakfast in such an out of the way Best Western.

This is the best BW that I've experience. My husband and I travel and have stayed at other BW but by far this is the BEST! If traveling through or staying in California City, I highly recommend to stay at the BW.

Very nice facility with attentive employees. We asked about places to eat and were directed to a wonderful Mexican Restaurant that we will make every attempt to visit again. Very quiet location and comfortable bed. The breakfast was more than we expected.

Our room was on the second floor so we had to ride the elevator. The first day we arrived we discovered some of the elevator buttons did not work. If we wanted to go down from the second floor to the first floor we had to push the up button to bring the elevator. There were two elevators and only one was working the four days we stayed. One time we got on the elevator on the second floor and pushed the first-floor button. The elevator door shut but the elevator did not go anywhere. After several attempts, we decided to take the stairs and report the problem to the staff. There was supposed to be a repairman working on the elevator but no one was able to locate him. Finally, we were told he had left the premises.

The room was clean and met all of our needs. It was very quiet and we were next to the elevator. The price was reasonable and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. We will be coming back. The man who checked us in was very friendly. I had accidentally booked a room one day more than I needed. He adjusted our price with no issues.

This is a surprising gem in California City. Comfortable, well-situated rooms. I would not stay on the first floor facing the street again - was loud, and the hallway is echoey. But otherwise, surprisingly lovely and good, strong coffee for breakfast in the breakfast room.

Came out to California City to visit my son who is in the military and stayed for a week. He's not thrilled about California City and didn't have much positive to say about this hotel. I looked at the pictures online and took a chance and boy am I glad I did. The Front Desk staff was absolutely great! The hotel is well maintained, the rooms were clean and updated and the pool was a nice touch on a hot and dry 113 degree day. The breakfast is very good for a small chain hotel in the middle of nowhere and I greatly appreciated the attentiveness of the people responsible for preparing breakfast. They tried to accommodate my every request and they did!! I brought my son over to the hotel to see the room and he was floored! He just kept saying "I can't believe this is in Cal City" Job Well Done Best Western! Keep up the good work and I'll be back to stay as long as my son lives in this area

We needed a local place to stay for a week while we visited family in town. This hotel was such a blessing. Having grown up in Cal City, I know that without this hotel, we would have had to stay in Mojave or Tehachapi, and it would have cut down the family time we had. The breakfast service and pool were wonderful for our family, and the room was nice and spacious.

Very hot dry day, but great hotel. Clean, good air conditioning, pet friendly, park across the street also has a dog park. Golf course next door, big empty lot behind hotel. Hosts were wonderful. Quiet sleeping.

I'm only here for one night. Nice and clean hotel.. It's in a quiet location and only a 20 min drive to Edwards AFB. I will definitely book here again the next time I'm at Edwards AFB. Although there is not much to do around here, there is a Dollar Market, McDonalds and you can have pizza delivered. Overall, it's worth it!

This is the second time in 2 months that we've stayed at this location. All the employees are friendly and helpful. The employee who oversaw the breakfast area was AMAZING and attentive. The hotel is located in a quiet area of town and next to the golf course as well.

Had expected very little in amenities out here in seeming nowhere. The hotel was wonderful, the people friendly and the town offered a decent restaurant with great margaritas. I need to return for business and have no reservations to staying here every time I am back!

Due to an air condition problem I needed a place to spend a night in California City. The ONLY Hotel / Motel is this one. I explained the situation to the clerk and he said no problem $105.62 for the least expensive room. About 2 hours later my wife called and asked if I was staying in the Pent House. It seems that the clerk thought it would be a good idea to charge me a $100.00 deposit on my credit card. When I asked him why he didn't tell me at check in he said it was only for "incidentals". I asked him what I could possibly charge to my room and he didn't have an answer. He said the charge would come off my bill "in a day or so". Well here it is Wednesday and my card is still showing the $100.00 charge. The room was nice. Clean and tidy. But the way the hotel does business is a sure 1 star deal. So if you are stuck in California City and need to spend the night drive to Mojave or Rosemond. Incidentally, did I mention I'm never coming back?

The hotel is very clean and the staff is really friendly !!!! The only thing that needs attention is the shower curtains that slide towards the middle while you are taking a shower . other than that the town of California city is the weirdest and sketchiest town I've ever been in.

Overall my stay at best western was good, breakfast was good a nice variety to choose from, room was clean, the size of the room was also good, the only thing about my stay was the noisey neighbors I had.

By far, the best hotel in the area. The hotel appears to be new with all of the modern day amenities that you'd expect. Wifi, pool, small gym and breakfast. The staff was friendly and made coffee early for our departure. The entire place was spotless the breakfast was very good.

Clean and well planned rooms. A lot of extra outlets for phones, chargers and computers on the lights to plug things in easily. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Several restaurants in the area.

We stopped here from death valley to sequoia. It is a newer hotel so it is clean inside and out. Staff was very helpful with check in and check out. Bed was comfortable. Room provides coffee tv fridge microwave. Perfect spot for a pit stop

Stayed here because I was on the way through, and read about California City online a long time ago. Really neat place, although probably not for everyone due to the distance from the main road. The hotel was pretty standard for a new Best Western. Liked the view. My room was new and clean. Extremely minor negative: I could tell the walls were quite thin, a suspicion confirmed in the morning, when people were walking through the halls. Fairly major complaint: The smell. The whole hallway and room smelled extremely of some strong foul bitter smell. No idea what that was. All in all it was good and getting to see California City made it well worth it. Would probably stay here again.

One of the best stays on our trip to the west. Rooms were in good shape. Was a little out of the way but worth the drive. The breakfast was outstanding. If was #1 of the hotels we stayed at for breakfast.

The cleanliness, modernism, and upkeep of this hotel distinguish the Best Western in Cal City at the very get-go from its regional counterparts. I just wish I knew about it earlier, instead of staying at those overpriced dumps cleverly disguised as hotels in Antelope Valley. Cal City is nice and quiet, too.

This is the most amazing stay I've had with vest western yet. My bf and I stopped here on our way back from Bishop, but we think we might make the travel back to California city just for the hotel! The city is a bit ghetto but it was very safe at this location. Rooms are spacious and incredibly clean. The tub was fantastic!! Incredibly comfortable and conveniently located. You'd think with such an emphasis on the tub, they wouldn't put much effort into the bathroom but the shower is absolutely stunning! Our room also had 2 mini fridges. I could go on and on. I mean it when I say that this is a perfect hotel escape. The only downside is the city where this is located, but even still, my bf and I are planning to come back for our own personal "spa getaway" because this place is pure luxury the second you step in.

This was the best stay at a hotel I have had in years. The room had whirlpool bath tub and my wife stayed in for hours. The room was clean and the breakfast bar was great also. We highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Booked online to visit family living in California city. Quick check in with a friendly staff. Pretty good size room for 2 adults and 2 children. The nice was quiet and got plenty of sleep. The beds,are great, the tv and Wi-Fi working well. The bathroom was with a stand shower and very clean. The towels,as well. Overall, a great stay and I will recommend it to everyone. We didn't have the breakfast but the choice of items is large. 2 minutes check out and we were back on the road to home.

We booked based on Tripadvisor reviews and overall were not disappointed. Good sized rooms, comfortable beds, a quiet somewhat rural setting. On the negative side, the carpet in the common areas was tired (maybe carpet in the elevator is not the best idea?) in need of a shampooing, etc. Interior noise was also an issue, in that one need increase the volume on the TV if a neighboring room is showering, etc, or the frequent door slams. California City itself left us underwhelmed, despite some attractions nearby such as Red Rock Canyon, the "city" has a depressed feel to it, spread out over several miles and no real business centers or attractive areas within the city. Next time, I'd avoid altogether and stay at Ridgecrest or Mojave.

New, clean hotel, with DirecTV. Nice clean bathroom, tiled shower, clean and spacious . Across from the golf course snd dog park. Friendly staff and good buffet breakfast. Its on the outside of town, but on the main road, so its easy to get to where you are going.

We stayed here last week for 2 nights while visiting Red Rock. Carmille(sp?) at the front desk was wonderful and he upgraded our room without our asking. The upgraded room was spacious, quiet, and clean. The staff were all terrific and the breakfasts were better than average ... one of the best we've had at a Best Western. California City is a small desert town, off the beaten path and very quiet. No nightlife to speak of which was fine with us.

Staff at front desk friendly and welcoming. Property is well maintained and cleaned. Room was clean and quiet. Bed was conducive to a sound sleep. Two recepticles on the desk lamp made for easy charging. Full breakfast includes scrambled eggs, waffles and pancakes. There are breakfast cereals, oatmeal and yogurt. Fruits were bananas, apples and oranges.

You won't be sorry you veered off the beaten path. We have stayed here twice. Nice quiet town, away from the crowds; this hotel is a treat. Even a nice view. Eat at Gloria's Mexican restaurant - a must.

You can find a piece of gold in the desert. This hotel is super sanitary, has nice waffles you can make in the morning with good coffee. I slept well in the king bed and the tile work in the shower was quite nice. Really, it was a respite night with a good military discount.

Never again. Air conditioner sounds like truck in the room. No soundproofing, breakfast is a joke. How people think it is ok is beyond me. This is no doubt the worst Best Western Hotel we have ever stayed in.

Carmil, Genesis, Anabel, Berta & Mr. Shawn were so patient & kind with our large group of 38 Kairos Prison Ministry volunteers. Best Western is such an oasis that we try to stop by to see them when we are just going for the 3 hr. monthly reunions at the prison & don't need a room. After giving it some thought I called Mr. Shawn today & booked a room for the instructional reunion at CCCF on Saturday Nov 5th so we can spend more time in CA City & will recommend doing the same for our entire 38 man volunteer team. Mr Shawn & his staff have become family. We really look forward to seeing them all each time we come to CA City as their warmth makes our visit much more like home. The complimentary breakfast sure helps our men get the early days started & the coffee is the best in CA City. We hope to see much more of them in the future for our biannual Kairos retreat weekends at CCCF.

With a family of young toddlers, there's nothing to beat Best Western. Kitchenette. No nonsense staff. Prime locations. Best of all budget friendly. BW usually has an IHOP nearby in case you want a substantial meal. Rooms are standard and reasonably clean.

I was prepared for things to be at least a little shoddy, considering that this is the only hotel in town, and also fully booked for an event. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by how nothing was wrong at all. In fact, the staff were all pleasant, friendly, fast and efficient. No issues with the beds (comfy!) or the climate controls which I have encountered at some other mid-range hotels. Breakfast was decently stocked even toward "closing time". Housekeeping did not come in unless we called the front desk to request it (no door hanger signs?), which might be weird to some, but when we called, they were fast and thorough. I'm fully satisfied with my stay.

I believe the Best Western inn in California City is the best hotel in the city. The staff was nice and friendly, also very helpful. The room was nice and roomy, with plenty of pillows on the bed. The free breakfast was above average.

The hotel is new, so everything is still nice and fresh. The staff was friendly. Continental breakfast was available although I just had coffee. The walls are pretty thin, but I'm a deep sleeper so this didn't really bother me. Not really any other options if you want to stay in Cal City, so its a good stay. Didnt like paying $100 per night for a best western, but again, no options. My family has lived in this town for about 15 years and I've always slept on the couch during visits, so it was nice to get a room for me and my family this past visit.

Visited here for one night in February 2015 having driven from San Francisco, briefly stopping for lunch in Carmel. The journey was Trecherous! torrential rain/snow through the Tehachapi mountains and pitch black so we were very relieved to get here. It was extremely quiet, but the receptionist was very helpful. Unfortunately we were too late for food and all the local takeaways were closed so could only use the vending machines! The room though - wow. A full-on suite with 2 queen beds. It was the best room of our holiday, better than the room we had the next night at Luxor in Las Vegas. The bathroom too was lovely, everything was clean and felt new. Great big TV with a remote in a little net bag. We had a perfect nights sleep. The next day you appreciate how isolated this place is. It's a stunning location but there's truly hardly anything around. Desert and mountains - a Macdonalds a few gas stations and a supermarket - that's about it. It was a stunning place to wake up though having arrived at night in the pouring rain :) Breakfast was cool - make your own waffles etc with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal options, yogurt. All fine. And away we went on our way up towards Lone Pine (but peeling off through Death Valley) well rested and fed. Really lovely staff, reasonable price, SUPERB room, food fine, isolated but spectacular location - a real gem in the middle of nowhere and would make a great base for exploration of the Mojave region, or indeed - on the way Death Valley.

I haven't stayed at a BW in years. This location in California City was excellent. The staff were all very warm and friendly and our rooms were spotless. We were in the smallest of the rooms offered, but it still had a refrigerator and microwave and the bed was very comfortable.

If you are coming to the desert this hotel is wonderful, clean, new and the owners and employees are outstanding, rooms are nice sized, plenty of towels, Directv, wi fi, and ice and the room are on the interior, which helps in the summer heat

My family & I visited for a family reunion. Customer Service Reps to Housekeeping were all very helpful in making sure we had a pleasant visit. This is our 2nd year visiting and we plan to continue our stay at Best Western California City Inn. And oh, if you are visiting for July 4th, you can actually see the fireworks directly from the hotel/pool area - great scenery!

We were met by a very friendly staff member who accommodated all our needs. The room was very large and clean. The showers are very modern and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was the best I've had at a hotel. I highly recommend this hotel if you have to stay in California City.

I was very happy to have room to park my semi. I was also very happy that the security doors are actually functional (not always the case). Beds were amazing. The showers were hot! Great got breakfast. Friendly and attentive staff. I definitely will stay again.

ask for a king suite for 4 adult people. 2 people could not fit on sofa bed. nothing suite about this room. more like a single room with a king size bed for 2 people. need sound proof windows, kept hearing sirens all the time.

Always clean, always professional and courteous staff. Accommodating, good deal. Breakfast complete, helps to get the days started well. No problem too big for them to handle. Very nice outside and in, pool was perfect as well.

My review title is a little unkind but all of California City seems to be a series of isolated elements including this hotel at the far eastern end of town. It was a good place to stay on a visit to Edwards Airforce base. The room was comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast as expected and with a really efficient and useful guest laundry. The only downside is that there are no walking options to eat.

Shawn, Genesis, Carmil, Candace and the staff welcomed our large group of 36 volunteers when we visited for Kairos #2 April 21-24 and made us feel like family. The breakfast selection was a delight (eggs, salsa, jalapenos, bacon, sausage, cheese, toast, tortillas, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, bagels, cream cheese, muffins, waffles, bananas, apples & oranges...) and having it ready at 5:30 am (!!) along with plenty of good, hot coffee, flavored creamer, almond milk & orange juice really helped us get started each day. Their full hot breakfast is great and very tasty. Nothing like have your own private jacuzzi in your room!! Great after a busy day! We've been there before and will return again!! Lots of things to see within easy distances! We used This Best Western as our home base and went to check out wild flowers in Red Rock Canyon, Elizabeth Lake, Cuddy Back (Fremont Peak), and extra stops include the Desert Tortoise Center, and Kern River!

This was the best Best Western Hotel my family and I have stayed at and was the very clean and the staff was very nice!!!! All the other Best Westerns could not compete with this one in California City!!!

This is the best hotel in town. Why? It is the ONLY hotel in town! But it is new, clean and fresh and the staff are very friendly. Very good breakfast. On your way there or after your stay, be sure to visit the Borax Visitor Center on H'way 58 just west of Boron. There is a museum there, a 20 mule team wagon with 20 mules (life size) and the open pit borax mine too. It is a gem.

The breakfast was the most horrible experience I have experienced. Being that there were not a lot of places around to eat breakfast except a McDonald's, I thought choosing this hotel that had a breakfast would have been a great Choice and value. But I was extremely wrong in regards to the breakfast, it was horrible! The eggs seemed like they were made from powder and water. The sausage meat was some form of gray Dead flesh reconstituted with steam water. The taste was something I had never experienced and I quickly through it into the trash after one bite. The waffle maker, made beautiful looking waffles that tasted just like cardboard, and it would quickly disintegrate into sawdust once touched by a fork. The milk for the breakfast cereal was extremely warm. Breakfast is not that hard to get right, it just seems that this best Western has put zero effort into finding a vendor who can provide a normal wholesome breakfast made it from natural eggs, not powdered and fresh sausage meat not precooked and frozen for years and brought back to life with steam. The waffle batter mix could be of a better quality product. The milk canister could be kept on ice. This breakfast experience diminished my stay. I hope they get it right in the near future. Maybe they should eat it first, and have some quality control. If this is not too much to ask.

I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel four times now. They have a friendly staff, and great service. The staff here all go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I intend on going back and would recommended this hotel to anyone. The hotel has clean rooms and main areas. The breakfast was really great as well. I absolutely adore the breakfast hostess Candace. She is really sweet and she exceeds all expectations. I enjoyed waking up early to a fresh breakfast and a big smile from Candace. Everyone there really makes you feel like you are at home.

This Best Western hotel made me feel welcome from the moment I came in. The room was clean modern looking room all which made for a nice stay. In the breakfast area, the staff was nice, helping me make my waffle. If I had any questions, which I had several the staff never seemed bothered by me, they were always polite. We picked this hotel because of its good rating and location, not too far from Red Rock Park where we wanted to visit, (Highly recommended to see by the way. There are also some ghost towns not too far away I read. There are some nice restaurants in this town too. We did not get to take a swim but the hotel also has a pool.

I have stayed at this hotel once a month for the past year and a half. The staff goes out of its way to help. They are friendly and cheerful and have a can-do attitude. The manager, Shawn, spent a chunk of time helping me get some grid paper printed out at the precise size I needed. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Not sure about the breakfast because I always carry my own when I travel anywhere. I highly recommend this Best Western.

This hotel went above and beyond in customer service. The cleanliness and comfort also exceeded all expectations. Overall, this hotel raised the bar and blew all competition out of the water. Loved it. Will return here the next time I'm in town.

My wife and I did not know what to expect in such a remote location and were very pleased to find a really nice, inexpensive hotel near our destination (Desert Tortoise refuge). The clerk at the counter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the entire area. No complaints at all regarding our stay.

Stayed to nights. Clean, roomy and great breakfast selections. Friendly staff. The hotel is convenient to restaurants, the American Legion, and Ace hardware. Has pool and jacuzzi's. We always stay at Best Western.

The room was nice and the facility is located in a quiet area. The breakfast was good and the dining area was very clean and well maintained. There are also a number of vending machines in the lobby offering a wide assortment of snacks.

Stayed here for two nights, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Not many options in the area but this was a very convenient location for what we needed. The employees were friendly, the parking lot huge, and the lobby, halls and rooms clean. Although the room was clean I did see a cockroach in the bathroom the first night. The walls were a bit thin and we could hear people in the rooms next to us. Not much to do in the area but the few restaurants and things are not far from the hotel. Overall an alright stay for the price.

I stayed here in July 15, January 16 and will be back in March 16, the hotel is spotless,employees are wonderful and its a great place to stay, for all the outdoor people, they come to CC to race and this is the place to stay, your trailers are safe, the employees will watch your motorcycles, utvs and answer the front desk immediately and not put you on hold

Visited California City and dropped by to check this hotel. This is a new development in recent time. The place is two story next to the Golf Course. You will not miss it as it is next to the only traffic signal lights. It looks newly constructed in the last year and a half.

The room was satisfactory and the staff were pleasant. My main complaint is the price of the rooms. We go there every year for Thanksgiving, and our room cost $40 more this year than last. The price is quite high for this type of facility, but since it is the only choice, I guess they can charge this type of price. Our bathroom door would not stay open unless we propped it open with furniture. These annual trips would be better if we didn't have to pay such high prices for a Best Western out in this desert city.

pretty new hotel..nice staff and good complimentary breakfast! We stayed one there on our way to death valley. And we found this hotel. It is just as described by others. We are very pleased for our choice. Next early morning we headed to DV after had our breakfast at hotel.

One day of my three night stay staff was in the room as the bed was made. However, the garbage from the bathroom was dumped into the toilet bowl, the sink was not cleaned, the garbage from the main room was not removed, the light in the bathroom was left on and the fan for the room was on high heat (the room was very hot when I arrived).

We stayed here for one night with short notice due to flooding in the area. This seems to be the only hotel in California City, and we were impressed with the quality of the hotel. Compared to other Best Westerns, the walls seemed better insulated to sound, although the hallways were noisy with people departing early in the morning. The sheets were a little pilly, but the bed was very comfortable.

Shawn & the entire staff are very warm & friendly. He worked extra hard to get our 34 men visiting Thurs 9/17 - Sun 9/20 for the very 1st Karios Prison Ministry retreat at California City Correctional Center & we were very happy we stayed at this Best Western Inn. Our volunteers come from LA, OC, SD, Victorville, Lompoc, Simi Valley, Hawthorne... we had private rooms, double queens & queen suites and we all agreed that this was a terrific choice. Our team of volunteers will be coming back in April/May of 2016 and look forward to another very peaceful weekend again! Thank you, Shawn!

If you only want a shower this is the place to stay if you do not mind the noise....thin walls...I personally would have preferred a quieter stay. The breakfast was very basic. I would have loved the comfort of the bed if I could have slept past the noise. I could here the people snoring in the room next to mine.

this hotel is very new and very clean with a welcoming decor and very comfortable bed, etc. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful; the breakfast had a great assortment of items, including waffles (made on the spot) and eggs made to order. Even though this is really the only place to stay in California City, it is a new and well-kept up place and I don't think I would stay anywhere else, even if there was an option to do so!

everything was great the air conditioning was wonderful this weekend with the temp soaring above 108 it was nice to be comfortable. the town was quiet and everyone around the town seemed friendly and eager to give advice on restaurants and neighboring cities it is a quiet place but HOT other than the temp California city best western is a great place to stay

There is really nothing out here, but all of a sudden, you're in this town with a golf course and several restaurants and then this hotel.... You don't have high hopes, but the rooms were great! Clean, roomy, modern, and a great place to stay if you are on business or pleasure. I would compare it to the Hampton Inns and Marriott Courtyards I usually stay in. The staff were pleasant and helpful, with good recommendations on the local dining... which is limited, but okay. Near the air force base, so I guess that's the reason everything is there in the middle of the dessert, but it's a wonderful place with good people and the area is awesomely beautiful, especially if you're from the south east coast and are used to seeing live oaks and spanish moss instead of dessert plants and hills.
