"stayed overnight - three generations"

03/07/2018

stayed overnight in the hotel with our daughter, husband and our nine month old granddaughter plus our dog had two large rooms each room had space for a travel cot or travelling cage the rooms were clean and comfortable - a fan being provided for what must be the hottest weekend of the year the hotel is located over several floors - there is no lift and the stairs are a pain with Luggage needed for a small child the hotel has a large and seemingly safe car park worth noting that the hotel it is located five minutes walk from Tesco where the deli counter provided a generous picnic lunch for our visit to Blenheim Palace additionally locally there is Stow ( NT gardens) -- well worth a visit but allow plenty of time the hotel pool is excellent - reception being happy to provide the additional towels needed The hotel also provided a high chair to allow our granddaughter to be fed before we went out to eat. Buckingham town centre is about 20 minutes walk and worth visiting - we at at Prego - a good meal and wine at a fair price Breakfast was both generous and good quality will stay here again if in the area

Stayed here to visit a friend in the area, was a cheap taxi ride into buckingham, close to the motorway and even had a pool and jacuzzi for me to use before i drove home in the morning. Comfy bed & air con. Will be back

Excellent check in, very good choice on evening meal and breakfast. Clean rom and bathroom. There were two problems which I reported, leaking shower hose and room temperature control not usable, Both I was assured would be fixed, although not by the time we checked out

"Leisure center let down"

Hotel room and bathroom was superb! The leisure center was nice and clean with good quality equipment. There was no possibility for a cold shower after taking a sauna, not even a cool one.No updated secure lockers available.

"Could do better with a little attention"

03/05/2018

Staying here for a couple of nights as on a course locally. Hotel is clean and tidy but a little out dated. Room was ok with bed comfortable. The could do better is around staff and food. The staff are nice enough but distant if that makes sense. The food is well over priced for the quality. The fish and chips I had first night was properly over cooker. Burger the second night was better, apple crumble was nice. Breakfast was average but ok in the whole scheme of things. Not sure I shall stay again, but not a definite no.

"Great Stay"

01/05/2018

Very clean hotel with comfortable, spotlessly clean room and very comfortable bed, Great Breakfast with a good range of hot and cold buffet of a good quality. Ideal Base for touring the area with very helpful and polite staff.

29/04/2018

Looking for a weekend break the location and facilities of this hotel appealed to me. Very quiet on the Thursday night and even Friday but horror of horrors a huge party of dancing clubs, coaches and judges I believe having a big reunion. As I was sleeping in a room that I believe was directly under the ballroom I expected the worst, happily I never heard a thing all night. Food in the restaurant was excellent and priced well too. All of the staff I interacted with came across very well and we're always happy to help. Particular mention must go to William in reception and Ryan who was in the restaurant. A hotel I will definitely return to !!

"Not the best hotel experience!"

15/04/2018

We always stay at the Best Western in Buckingham because it is close to where our relatives live. Usually very pleased with everything but this time we felt the hotel was not running at its usual high standard. The breakfast finishing time of 9.30 a.m. if far too early for holidaymakers - and the staff are already winding down breakfast around 9 a.m..i.e. milk not topped up..no poached eggs..scrambled egg with a skin on top - and down to the last mug for coffee..which was chipped. The bedrooms are functional and the bed a great size - our bin was not cleaned out one day but that is a minor complaint. We thought this time around that the "clientele" were mainly workmen, lots of men in totector boots, high viz jackets. Outside the main entrance clusters of people were outside smoking...not a great look for the entrance of an hotel. We were disappointed with our stay on this occasion.

"Super hotel "

15/04/2018

We came over from northern Ireland for the dengie dressage championships. We booked in to the hotel for two nights we were very pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the beds were, it was very clean n tastefully decorated. Food was nice service a little slow but that's the only negative. Staff were pleasant and helpful. 5 out of 5.

"Outdated"

12/04/2018

Old fashioned furniture and room in general, inconsistent shower speed and temperature. Didn't eat in the restaurant as was deserted and would be in complete silence. Friendly staff, quick and easy to check in and convenient location.

Hotel was conveniently located for motorways and Buckingham town (if you have a car). The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were all very friendly. We were staying for my mum's birthday and she was given a room upgrade and the reception staff wished her a happy birthday, both on checking in and checking out. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were really nice. Overall an excellent hotel for the price.

A lovely family hotel, the staff are welcoming and so helpful, the rooms are comfortable with all amenities, clean and beautifully designed. The restaurant has a lovely selection to suit all tastes for breakfast with attentive staff, and the evening dinner, well, the food is served absolutely beautifully, a lot of care and thought is put into the menu's, James the head Chef has an amazing team that all go the extra mile, and to enjoy every mouthful of very tasty food is pleasure and relaxation in itself! again staff are so good, nothing is too much trouble! A lovely hotel, not pretentious just perfect for a relaxing break, or weekend enjoying the shops! Brilliant pool and spa area to relax after a retailing session at maybe Bicester or Oxford! Just perfect in every way, congratulations to all the Buckingham team for our perfect weekend, already booked for twice more this year!!!! Pam.

This hotel has it all at a great price, it even has a pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The rooms have all amenities and the beds are very comfy. The staff are very welcoming and happy to help. I can thoroughly recommend the hotels restaurant whether staying at the hotel or just passing. The prices are very reasonable, the menu is varied and the food is exceptional; well presented and full of flavour. Well done to all the staff for making this a very desirable hotel I will be returning on a regular basis for relaxing weekend breaks.

22/03/2018

probably the third or fourth time I have stayed at this hotel for business reasons. Rate was good, room clean and comfortable. Parking is a bonus but there are steep steps to reception-alternative entrance for those less able. reception welcoming and efficient. Ate in restaurant which was quite good, good and attentive service overall and food also quite good. There nay be other hotels but despite being out of the main centre suited us, so would probably use again

Been to this hotel on and of for over 2 years only reason I am in this hotel is the location to work 1 trying to get loyalty points is like the getting blood from a stone the menu is so repetitive it is as if the chef has only one recipe book just had a rack of lamb 3 ribs 2 chops said it would be served pink think he is colour blind served well done as the very nice waiter who told the chef he said it is a rack. Don't think so that's a pair of lamb chops .The room .... outdated lamp shades with cracks .Tiny TV which you have to turn off and on again to change channel low sound black mold in bathroom and with -°c temperatures a summer quilt would not be hot in summer and a electronic wall heater in the bedroom no heat in bathroom .if you get a room facing the road don't expect the window to stop the sound .

At £104 for two people for two nights we really were not expecting much. What we got was a nice size bedroom with 3 pillows if required .Smart and clean bathroom. Tea and coffee. A leisure centre with good size pool ,Jacuzzi ,steam room and sauna. A reasonable dinner with good choice. If it cost twice as much a four star would be adequate ,but hell it was £104 --what value ! !

"Saturday evening meal and use of facilities customer service 5 stars"

18/03/2018

I rang the hotel on Saturday morning and spoke to a very helpful lady called Sylvia. I explained that I wanted to book a meal for my mum-late Mothers Day treat and also for my 11 year old son and his Spanish friend, who we were picking up from a local Boarding School, I asked if it would be possible for the boys to use the swimming pool before we all ate. This was all sorted out at no extra charge. On arrival the staff at the Reception desk were helpful and introduced me a a wonderful Head of swim / gym -Lindsey-who made sure that we took the safest route to the pool area. She gave the boys hoops and googles to use in the pool and also helped them with the lockers. After the sim we went up to the lounge area to wait for our table. The boys played drafts and chess and my mum and I were able to have a lovely time chatting. The dining staff were equally superb-re setting 2 tables so the boys could be independent and sort out their menu choices . One of the waiters, Carlos, came over and had a quick chat with our young Spanish guest-thank you for making him feel so at home. After our meal-which was great-we all went to relax in the lounge area -when the boys lost one of the broad game pieces the chap at reception got a torch and located it underneath a piece of furniture! We came away singing the praises f the customer service at this hotel

"Great hotel."

Fantastic hotel. Looking a bit dates from the outside, but everything about the inside was perfect. Reception area was clean and inviting and all staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly. Room was big and clean. Breakfast was very good. Couldn't really fault anything. Steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and pool were nice as well! Looking forward to staying again. Definitely value for money.

Have stayed he're many times, the staff are friendly and always helpful the rooms are clean and adequate size and for purpose. The breakfast meal is well cooked either Buffett style or if you have a preference a cooked to order available. The evening meals again are all well prepared and cooked although I found the choices a little restricted to one's own particular likes or preference a review of the menu with different choices more often would be welcome change.

There seems to be an attitude problem with the front desk staff, i witnessed for myself the way the check in clerk spoke to people. There was a problem on my arrival in that they didn't have a record of my booking despite me having a confirmation number issued by BW central reservations, i was told this was because they are a franchise (Haymaa Hotels i believe) and that BW central reservation didn't pass the booking number over, fair enough i suppose but no apology was offered and the double room i had booked was no longer available and i had to purchase a new twin room at a higher rate. This was addressed as i walked out to dinner when the clerk called me over to say the confirmation number had come through but no compensation or apology was offered. Food in the restaurant at dinner was actually quite good in the evning but i didn't try breakfast here. Small issue on check out with multiple receipts which for a business traveller causes more work when expensing. Tired hotel, with dated rooms and little atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area....i wouldn't stay here again, next time i will try Villiers Hotel in Buckingham town centre which looked fantastic.

The hotel was clean, location was quiet... spa, swimming pool for guest is included... free WiFi...massive king size bed....got a nice seating area... just no fridge inside the room as I'm expecting for a 4 star hotel...

RESTAURANAT & FOOD: I'm vegan its a tricky lifestyle especially when dining out. The restaurant did me a special Quinoa Dish without my even asking I was well impressed and very grateful. The dish was lovely. WE opted for a bottle of Rose wine and it was perfect not too sweet! In the mornign the bfast staff found me some plant based soy milk so I could stay vegan for b'fast, most heplful of them! My thanks to the bar staff and kitchen for their responsiveness. ROOM & SLEEPING: Beds were large and comfy, generous sized room, good shower TV, coffee/tea facilities etc. I slept really well. My colleague found her room cold we mentioned it late at night to the bar man, who rectified the issue immediately. Can't fault the place Would def stay again. OTHER: Would have loved to have tried the leisure club but didn't have time, didn't have time to try the wifi either I was too busy drinking the bottle of Rose wine! Our room(23) was on the same floor as the reception. Clean spacious and a comfortable bed. No noise. We were welcomed at reception and offered help with our bags. Very helpful staff. On both the nights of our stay we ate in the hotel restaurant. Wonderful service and excellent meals. Breakfast was good and the eggs were fried to order. A slight hiccup on the pre paid breakfast was soon sorted and a reason and apology given. The swimming pool was small but fine for a leisurely swim. Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were well staffed and clean. The staff give this good hotel a tremendous atmosphere and service with a smile.

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review

Decent rooms, with a comfortable bed. It's also fairly quiet if you have a room facing away from the main road. Check in/out was smooth and painless. My only criticism was the breakfast - it's not included in the room rate and for what you pay, it's nothing special.

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Mike_Devon, Thank you for your kind words, we do appreciate all feedback. I can see you purchased a room only rate, we do offer B&B rates which is cheaper when booked direct with the hotel. We look forward to welcoming you again soon, Kindest Regards,

27/12/2017

Christmas day lunch out first time ever! Reasonably priced at £49.99 per person. Wasn't expecting much at that price. I admit I was wrong! Choice of starters. All covered by our party and all delicious. Main meal was carvery and meat was superb and plentiful as was veg and trimmings. Choice of puddings, all delicious and huge portions! All topped of with unlimited tea or coffee and mince pies. Superb value!! Staff all so lovely too. Very jolly and not at all grumpy having to work Xmas day. Xmas jumpers and reindeer antlers all round ?. Well done all team !!! Superb day much enjoyed by whole family. Will be back next year.

Dear lovewilf, Thank you for your feedback. I am delighted to hear your Christmas Lunch was a great success with your family! We pride ourselves on our functions and such feedback is fantastic to share with our staff. We look forward to seeing you again this year! Kindest Regards,

"Poor policy re credit card swipe "

2
10/12/2017

Arrived late evening and on checking in to a corporate prepaid booking i am told that i have to either allow the hotel to preauthorise 50 on my credit card or i could go to a local cash point and give cash !! I refuse as i always do ..it's a work booking prepaid I may not want to eat or drink here. I am told that the receptionist/duty manager cannot sign me in if i don't comply ...told madam there is the door ! I almost feel sorry for the staff member but even my offer to sign something informing the general manager (who it appears cannot be contacted even in the event of a fire ! i ask that specific question when told he's not available) ...eventually a colleague offers to put it on her card which she has reluctantly already agreed for them to swipe ...one thing for sure i will not be eating or drinking anything so am not sure what this hotel ownership achieved by this draconian and unfair policy ...??

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Nikki, I am sincerely sorry to hear about your experience with us and the complications you received upon check in. Although this is a new policy within our hotel, it has been running for years and is used in most hotels. It covers any incidentals. Your monies is never taken only held by your bank. Upon check out your bill is reviewed for any extras and room checked by a Duty Manager - This is then released straight away back to your bank. Kindest Regards,

Stayed in hotel on room only basis. Stayed in room 5 which had views overlooking Car Park and main road. Never heard anything hat was loud enough to keep us awake. Lovely comfortable room and clean enough. Bathroom had bath and overbath shower. We were 5minutes away from Buckingham centre which was great as we were visiting family and weren't too far away. Buckingham itself is a lovely place to visit. Lovely quaint town with lots of lovely wee shops and tea rooms. Very welcoming. Travelled to Milton Keynes and done some shopping in the centre. Shops were great there. Had a drink in the hotel on the Thursday night but it was very quiet. Didn't eat there at all. Receptionist on check-in (can't remember his name) was very helpful and welcoming.

I'm staying in the hotel as we speak, I really can't understand the negative reviews as I am very fussy and can not fault the hotel at all. Room is spotless and homely. Reception staff are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. I would rate the hotel a 4 star. Would definitely return

"Not too bad but dont agree with a couple of policies"

3
08/11/2017

Hotel overall was not too bad, little messy in the corridors but the room was fine. The leisure facilities were not the best but it is an hotel primarily. I booked a room for two nights with breakfast ( fully paid) and on checking in they asked for a £50 deposit which is a new policy it seems. I was told that if I didn't have a credit card to cover a £50 deposit the room would not be given to me (although the room is paid for). On the day of departure when the cleaners have been in and everything is ok they will authorise the refund of the deposit. What if the cleaner damages something, would I get the bill???? They should be available to view the room as and when you check out if they run with this policy. Also a lady checking in at the same time didn't have a Credit card so they took £40 cash from her as a deposit. I just don't agree with this policy. (only my opinion). Breakfast was also paid for and I went down to the restaurant on my way out but did not really fancy eating at this point. I asked for a bacon sandwich to take away and this was declined as again company policy says no food to be taken out. Another strange policy in my opinion. Not really customer friendly.

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Morrisey11, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. Although this is a new policy within our hotel, it has been running for years and is used in every hotel within the states. It covers any incidentals and is then checked by our Duty Manager upon your departure. Your monies is never taken only held by your bank. With regards to taking food, this is just simply food safety and we must be very strict upon this. I am sorry if you felt we were not being accommodating, however must be strict with our polices for all guests safety. Kindest Regards, Hotel Management

"Not Good!"

30/10/2017

I stay in 50 or more hotels a year and this has to be the worst I've stayed in this year. The hotel is in desperate need of updating, the reception, bar and restaurant were freezing, I wore a down jacket for dinner! my room was clean but the wallpaper was peeling off the walls even though it had been recently decorated. This is a very poor hotel!

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Hi James, Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay. I am sincerely sorry to hear about your recent stay with us and the complications you received. We have recently undergone maintenance which I believe created the décor issues. If you are returning to the area, please call the hotel and ask for myself. Kindest Regards, Hotel Management

"Not Good"

12/10/2017

Started with a late arrival 11:30pm, to be greeted by a friendly receptionist. Get to our room (116) musty damp smell. Loud noises all through the night (best way to explain is an old heating system, high pressure loud hissing). Wife gets a shower in the morning from freezing cold to actually scolding hot, then the hot water goes off!! Was offered to go and have another shower in a different room down the corridor (really you expect a lady in a towel to walk along a corridor naked!) Hotel manager apologised but really in a Best Western should this be happening!!!!!! On a positive note the breakfast was nice.

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Alan F, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and our staff were welcoming to you. I apologise about the shower turning off, unfortunately these unforeseen complications can occur and does require further inspection to fix and I am sorry for any inconvenience this caused during your stay. On this occasion the only room we had vacant to use was a couple of rooms down from you. I do hope to see you again and allow us to make it right for your next stay. Kindest Regards,

Had a very pleasant overnight stay - we were attending The Mitre for 10 yr anniversary of the band The Red Bullets. Big shame the bar was shut when we got back - always nice to have a nightcap in peace & quiet. Only downfall was the guests making a noise at front door til the early hours. I am a smoker so understand them being where they were. Breakfast was fab - Paul did THE best fried eggs I have ever had in a hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Adam R, Director of Sales at Best Western Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Sandra, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us at the Best Western, Buckingham Hotel. "Not a good example of a best western "

21/09/2017

Having stayed in many best westerns in the UK and internationally this is by far the worst. First the positives: very good breakfast offered and the water pressure is good in the showers. The hotel is also quiet which is good. The negatives: very uncomfortable and old beds, poor quality towels and linen used, lots of steps everywhere which is not easy with larger luggage, the smell of sewage from the plug holes when you turn the water on, very tired internally and externally. Musty smell in the bedrooms. The most disappointing part of this hotel was the reception staff for me - very rude, not listening, negative attitudes- I really suggest some training in this area. There is a gym/pool facility which I did not use so unable to comment on these. A disappointing stay and I will not be staying here again in future.

Nice hotel, clean and tidy in both room and bathroom, food in the evening was well cooked and enjoyable (Fish and Chips for me was a good size portion). I booked the Buckingham Suite. It was O.K but I would have expected a mini fridge or at least a bottle of water but there was neither. As we were only staying here and not eating dinner we didn't check in until later in the evening. The reception staff was very friendly. In the morning the shower was o.k but lost some of its power, i am guessing this is because more of the guests were also using the showers. I took the towel of of the rail to dry myself and it had pink streaks all over it and a dirty brown mark. I had to use the hand towel. At breakfast the table we sat at was freshly laid but had dirty napkins. The food was ok. Upon check out I informed reception about the towel and was told they would inform house keeping and that was it. The appearance is a little dated and i would have expected a higher standard of bathroom decor in a suite although it was functional.

Ok hotel has was you need. Breakfast good and no complaints with dinner. Has a gym with a lovely pool. Rooms are slightly dated and some could do with new beds. All in all serves a purpose. Staff have always been good. Good location.

"Comfortable stay"

09/08/2017

Visiting Silverstone and this hotel is very convenient. The public areas are nice, if you are lucky with the weather there is also outside seating. Staff are polite and friendly. Room was comfortable, although the bathroom is in need of refurbishment. However, shower worked well and plenty of hot water. Plenty of choice at breakfast and the hot food was freshly cooked and delicious. We did eat in the restaurant two nights running, although the food was good, I did feel it looked as if it was cooked for the masses rather than individually plated up with love. There is a main road running past the hotel, so would suggest requesting a room at the back - very quiet at night. I would stay again if visiting Silverstone.

"Should be demolished"

17/07/2017

Had the misfortune to stay on Saturday 15th July. We were going to silverstone f1 on Sunday. I had booked 5 days before which I know is last minute so not much accommodation available so £300 pound a night for a "suite" seemed expensive but I thought a suite will be nice. Wrong. The room was in the basement of the hotel with a small window onto some bushes, no view, no air conditioning, dirty plastic shower curtain, dirty carpet awful room I wouldn't have paid £60 a night normally, mediocre breakfast at £8.50 extra each.best western is a misnomer, worst western would be more accurate. This place is disgraceful. DO NOT STAY HERE!

"Good Hotel"

09/07/2017

Overnight stay whilst heading to London. Hotel is a bit dated and could do with a paint. Drinks also a bit expensive, but where isn't these days ! Room very spacious, staff helpful and friendly. Pool and spa a bit dirty. But not bad as only paid on my Best Western points !!!!!

"Would happily stay here again"

07/07/2017

I stayed here while in the area for Business and won't hesitate to return. The reception staff was very welcoming, friendly and explained everything I needed to know when checking in. My room was large, clean, well furnished and comfortable. The bathroom was relatively small for the room size but still good. The weather when I stayed was stifling and although no air conditioning a fan was supplied that made it comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were good with efficient service and reasonably priced (for a hotel) food and drink. I would happily stay here again.

Excellent, Hotel , very friendly and Helpful staff , good parking, excellent food in restaurant. This was an ideal location for us while we were attending the Flywheel Festival at Bicester. Will defiantly use this hotel again.

"Bit of a dump"

18/06/2017

BestWestern is a bit of a paradox,,,,MediocreWestern or Trying hardWestern would be more appropriate. At £90 room only its also expensive ,,,see below Its has never been my favourite hotel chain by any means. Where to start ... foreign staff at Reception with minimal English, tired rooms and very tired bathrooms with over bath showers, nasty plastic curtains and a loo that came out of the Ark. Room was hot (with no a/c) and a tiddly TV. Expensive bar prices and mediocre service....take your our own wine, Best thing was the Breakfast...though at £8.50 the Garden Centre down the road is much better value. So a dump...don't stay here unless desperate ........

"Excellent Service"

10/06/2017

Stayed for 2 nights for a family celebration at the hotel. The hotel was well appointed, clean and in good decorative order. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the lower ground floor looking out to a small lawn and shrubs. The room was again clean and tidy with modern décor and furnishings. The bathroom had been modernised but original bath had not been replaced. The room was very quiet. Other members of our party were situated in another part of the hotel and were disturbed by the road noise. Everyone who attended the family celebration agreed that the staff worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly and the food we ate was exceptional.

"Basic but ok"

2
31/05/2017

Room basic, bed ok. Decor ok. Shower gel up to high. No biscuits on tea tray. Didn't feel like a best western hotel. Dinner was good, can recommend the chicken burger. Staff was very polite and professional. I didn't have breakfast, but my partner did and he was too pleased with it. Not much choice and very cheap catering. I have stayed in better travel lodges, it's ok for one night.

"Not great would NOT recommend."

2
30/05/2017

The hotel room was basic. Is in need of some updating like air conditioning and a newer television or at least a working one. There was a fan provided in the room although this was not great and even with that on and the window open it was still very stuffy. The televison worked now and again and did not work when you had the fan on which was not great. The pool was lovely and free to all hotel guests, they provided free towels for use whilst in the pool area which was great. The food in the hotel was nice in the evening and again at breakfast. However about 1.30 me and my partner were woken by the emergency fire door being opened and the alarm going off for about 10minutes. Our room was right next to the door so this was not a quiet alarm. I did ring reception but did not get any answer. We managed to get back to sleep and on check out I did inform the gentleman who checked me out about the alarm and he seemed to think it was funny making a comment of "maybe it was someone sneaking out for a cheeky fag!" I did not find it funny being woken up at 1.30 and would of appreciated a little sympathy and maybe a sorry. The reason I would not stay here again is purley some of the staff's attitude's are not great at all. I went for a relaxing stay but came back tired, grumpy and fustrated.

"Disappointed "

2
29/05/2017

We stayed at this hotel for a large family event nearby. Staff were just ticking the boxes and didn't seem very bothered about service. The room was dirty in the bathroom and the facilities needed some modernisation. Food was average. Pool & gym were ok but again lots of little things that need fixing or cleaning to make it feel really special. For the price look elsewhere locally and spend a little more. I have paid less for two nights elsewhere for a much better experience.

"No real problem"

3
25/05/2017

My colleague and myself stayed here for one night to assess its suitability for a group booking in 2018. Everything in the room was fine, clean and tidy. The dinner and breakfast could not be faulted on quality, value or service. Ample parking space. The downside was that there is absolutely no atmosphere in the hotel; the bar area was akin to a graveyard and there was total silence during dinner. It should also be noted that the hotel is a fair distance from the centre of Buckingham. We were also very disappointed with the prices quoted for a group booking of 30 individuals, particularly for single rooms. OK for an overnight stay when on business.

"OK for price"

3
24/05/2017

Clean room, ample hot water, tea & coffee facilities. First night TV system did not work, very frustrating, complained to reception and was fixed by second evening. Breakfast was ok but one morning needed to leave early so was only able to have toast no cooked option available. Staff friendly. Only negative apart from TV which was solved, lots of steps to reach reception, not sure how you would cope if elderly or need wheelchair, there is likely to be other ways in but this was not obvious, if this a concern do check directly with the hotel.

"Pleasant overnight"

4
20/05/2017

We stopped here for one night whilst visiting Stowe Gardens and Bletchley Park. The staff are all extremely polite and helpful...rooms a good size and beds comfortable. They catered for our specific request for breakfast by providing the soya milk we asked for.

"Functional and Pleasant"

4
14/05/2017

Stayed 2 nights. Had a very late check in and after calling the hotel in advance to let them know, it all went smooth and quick. Check out was also very speedy. Room: Quite large so plenty of room to spread out. Clean and functional. Bed comfortable. Wi-Fi worked. Minor quibbles: no iron and some noise from narrow hallways. Parking: Found a spot each time though sometimes took a bit of hunting. Convenience: Easy to find. Has 24 hr garage next door for snack and Tesco a 1-2 minute drive away for supplies. Would stay at again.

"Pleasant Stay"

4
13/05/2017

Room was lovely and clean, bed was huge and very comfy. Hotel near a main road, but we didn't hear any traffic noise whatsoever. Plenty of hot water, but bathroom could do with updating. Staff were very helpful and polite and there was plenty of choice at breakfast time. Lovely spacious reception/bar area with comfy seating.

"Average but dog friendly "

3
08/05/2017

First off this place is bang average. It's dated but clean. The gym is small and not amazing but it's there and it's free. I didn't use the pool or sauna but my wife says they're good. The hotel is dog friendly and that is a bonus. The bathroom is dated but clean. The coffee at the bar was welcome and the location next to a petrol station and an Aldi is decent. There's also a nice walk int he woods nearby. There is no lift. This is shoddy in this day and age. This is ok for an overnight work stay. I wouldn't want to stay here for leisure.

"Business trip"

3
02/05/2017

Recently stayed for two nights at this hotel. Rooms are a bit tired especially bathroom. Blown mastic around bath and black in places. Shower pretty feeble. Just generally a bit tired. Bar area not to bad and breakfast ok. Staff helpful and polite.

"Nice hotel, just one complaint."

4
30/04/2017

Stayed for one night, was fully booked, the staff were all excellent and the room was large and perfectly clean. A large group of us ate in the bar but after the first 2 orders we were told there were no more steaks, not a problem, they phoned the butcher and he delivered more steaks to the kitchen. The service was great and the food very reasonably priced. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that had alarm clocks in the bedroom and the one in my room went off at 10 past 1!! Perhaps it would be a good idea for cleaning staff to ensure alarm clocks are not "set". I will be checking in future but I wouldn't want anyone else to woken in the middle of the night.

"Peaceful Hotel"

5
26/04/2017

I stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting friends. The Reception staff were welcoming and friendly and check in was quick and easy. My room was very spacious, bed very comfy and although the hotel seemed busy it was very quiet. Breakfast was very fresh and the choice was great, the food was delicious. Parking was no problem. This hotel was definitely a good choice for staying in Buckingham, would use again.

"Good hotel"

4
24/04/2017

Quick two night stay as I picked up a last minute deal. Easy enough to get too and out of town as well which was a bonus for me, but worth considering if you are needing to go into Buckingham. There are two petrol stations nearby though if you need fuel/ snacks. Parking is a little lacking for a hotel of that size and if you arrive late, expect to have some issues on that front. As for the hotel, it feels a little weirdly laid out. Built into a slope, it feels like everything is on different levels. You've got to go up a set of stairs on entry. There was a sign saying disabled access, but I didn't see what that entailed. My room was then down stairs with no way of getting in at the level of my room. I don't know if there are lifts; I didn't see any and staff seemed to be using the stairs too. Bear that in mind if you have mobility issues. There are 'ground floor' rooms but most rooms are either up or down from 'ground', so it might be worth asking in advance. Staff are very friendly and the hotel is nicely decorated. Check in and out was easy. There is a restaurant and bar but I didn't use them. There is also a gym but I didn't have a chance to use that either. All in all, it was a decent enough hotel and I will be using it again in the future.

"Really good for an overnight"

4
22/04/2017

The hotel was clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The only reservation was that food was not freshly prepared in the restaurant. Notwithstanding that, when a meal was not to our taste, it was immediately replied with no fuss or extra charge - well done staff. Would definitely stay again.

"Another good stay and at tentative staff team."

4
22/04/2017

Yes well, this is a nice hotel presenting a contemporary and stylish theme I was staying for a short course with some work colleagues who enjoy the breakfast set up, pool, sauna and gym so again an awesome time had by all helped by the brilliant and attentive staff.

16/04/2017

Uhm, hello? Where are all these positive reviews coming from? Family of staff? I travel the world for my job, and sleep in many various hotels and dine in many different restaurants. Hotel room. Duvet is too thin. I wake up in the middle of the night because I am cold. (I do NOT switch on heaters, to be warm in bed!) Bathroom: a shower curtain. Don't you just love it, having this peace of nylon sticking to your bum? Restaurant: Here my eyebrows almost fell off when I read the positive response about it. Linguine pasta... is coming out of tin. Curry, completely tasteless. Receptionist: Does not know anything about an Indian restaurant in town. There are three, dear lady... I do NOT recommend this hotel for more then one night. Better move on. Monday after Easter. Staff is also having a bank holiday. Breakfast only at 8AM.

"Not Bad "

10/04/2017

I stay in quite a few BW hotels and this is probably an average one. There isn't anything really too special although they do have very good gym facilities here. I have stayed here a few times now and never had any complaints to make. I would recommend staying if you are looking for somewhere on a budget

"Adequate for a Short stay "

3
19/03/2017

Stayed here for a night and it was adequate . Breakfast was so so. It's a little far out from everything so you may need a car to get around . The receptionist (Marina?) was very nice and helpful. All in all a decent place for a short stay .

Booked to visit our granddaughter at University and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money. Well located for the town centre. Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent.

"Weekday stay"

09/03/2017

Plenty of parking. Easy to find. Reception was a little dark. Lady on reception was friendly n chatty. Room was good. Bed was comfy n desk good size. No noise from rooms around. Room service food was good and reasonably priced. Bathroom ok. Did not have breakfast.

"Great service, convenient location"

06/03/2017

My daughter was unwell late one night and reception couldn't have been more helpful. On top of that rooms are nice quality at affordable prices in a convenient location. Swimming pool and gym are bonuses.

"Good and average"

28/11/2016

Useful hotel and dog friendly. Rooms clean, large but quite boring in style. Everything worked though, and bed comfortable. Reception very friendly, but not over knowledgable of hotel or local area. Health club has great jacuzzi and sauna. Steam room not quite hot enough, but strangely there is no shower to rinse off after sauna before the pool etc. Good facility to have at the hotel. Breakfast was very good. Evening meal was carvery only which was disappointing. It was done well though. No paper offered at check in. Above average ... just. ... and mainly because of helpful staff.

"Family Reunion"

5
20/11/2016

We were here for a family reunion including children and it was great. Very convenient location for family travelling from different parts of the country. Our room was spacious with a bathroom with bath and shower over and was very quiet. The hotel was very well staffed and without exception they were helpful and courteous and able to accommodate last minute requests - for example for a gluten free meal. In fact there was an excellent choice. Breakfast buffet was also excellent and very fresh. We thought they were very well organised when we contacted them in advance to arrange the weekend and we weren't disappointed on the day. This was our fourth visit and possibly the best so far.

"Lacking atmosphete"

4
18/11/2016

Arrived in the dark left in the dark. Checkin ok, room good spacious big bed. Very clean and tidy. Decent size car park and a leisure club. Bar area ok and food was nice and seemed freshly prepared. Service was good. Breakfast buffet style and again very good. Check out no problem. All the staff seemed foreign and not from the same country it all seemed a little weird. English was the common language but not the favoured. As English was a second language to all the staff they just didn't speak to each other. The place just seemed lifeless and lacked any atmosphere. Don't get me wrong the place is spotless hence the score but lifeless.

"Decent chain hotel - ideal for an overnight"

3
13/11/2016

Quiet tidy chain hotel. The room was large and clean with a very big bed ( even if it was two beds joined together) although it was very comfortable. The room was very dark with the curtain closed which is always a bonus for a light sleeper, The bathroom was small but clean with the usual toiletries. The shower was nice and hot and very powerful. The usual teas and coffees were offered but there as no iron and ironing board and the one provided by the very helpful staff was not a steam one. The staff were very friendly and cheerful and it looks like the leisure facilities were very good. We stayed for one night for a local wedding and found everything in order. A decent, if unspectacular, middle of the road chain hotel

"Average at best"

3
13/11/2016

Checked in, friendly staff, very dark over reception desk hard to see your registration card. Bedroom 36 freezing cold on arrival, although once we found heater was ok. The room very dark and poorly lit. Oddly for such an already dark room, dark colours were used for the decor. TV provided could not receive any channels at all. However room and bathroom were clean, but in keeping with the rest of the hotel, very dated. Bought a drink from the bar, which needed a polish, the bar itself very sticky. Now the barman was straight out of Fawlty Towers, I asked for a fizzy water with ice, he did not know the word fizzy, he offered tap water, and when the penny dropped he just handed me a sealed bottle of sparkling water, after a lot of explaining he realised he had to put it in a glass with ice! Leisure club very good, nice pool and jacuzzi, good to see they give you towels down there a keep the place clean. In summary a clean hotel, that does just the job and no more, in need of updating and some staff training.

"great breakfast"

4
06/11/2016

Nice large king sized room. Usual toiletries in the good sized bathroom. We were foxed by the vagaries of switching on the tv had to ring reception to do it for us and spent about 15 mins trying to do it the next morning. Nice freshly cooked buffet breakfast and the waiting staff and reception staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

"Great for a Stopover"

4
01/11/2016

Good size room with a comfortable king size bed and the room was spotless. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. A reasonable breakfast but the choice was limited. The hotel is situated about a mile from the centre of Buckingham.

"GREAT STOPOVER"

4
31/10/2016

My daughter, son-in-Law and grand-daughter stayed there, and we ate in their restaurant in the evening. Whereas my daughter was impressed with the health suite facilities (in itself enough to ensure she makes a return visit!) and the size etc of their room, we were all delighted at the menu offered, the wine selection and the attentive service in the restaurant. Many hotel restaurants are a bit mediocre - this was certainly an exception. As I only live a short distance away, I'll be back there for a few more dinners.

"Useful stop for Silverstone and Stowe House"

3
22/10/2016

Very corporate in feel - some staff absolutely excellent others less so. We paid a lot extra for the upgraded "suite" £156 a night b and b - which had little to offer over the standard rooms apart from more space and a sleigh bed and sofa. All a bit dark and businesslike. No goodies or little touches. Swimming pool area was ok although the all the patio windows need replacing as they are clouded. Steam room was out of order, sauna was ok. Public sitting area was full of local council event when we arrived - Restaurant - some staff were just unprofessional, more interested in each other than their customers, others really helpful and keen. Food - breakfast staff were lovely and a good choice of food. A hot and cold help yourself buffet. Dinner - a creative chef well presented and cooked food - I had a wonderful steak one night. Good WI FI coverage. You can get a taxi from here to Silverstone - very stress free and they will pick you up after racing. Disabled - this hotel is all over the place in terms of levels - there is a disabled entrance but it is around the side of the restaurant. Reception is up steps - they will help with cases if you ask. Parking - again on various levels. Note reception floor level is the one to ask to have a room on if you want to avoid further going up and down but it is two floors down stairs to get to the leisure centre. If the charming manager can sort these niggles out this could move up in my estimation from average to good.

"Ok ish"

2
20/10/2016

Nice size room and the leisure facilities were brilliant. The hotel is. located on the edge of a busy road so not good for a light sleeper, also tea stains splattered up the wall and the room was very dark and cold when we entered luckily we found the thermostat and went for a swim while the room warmed up.

"Clean and business"

3
19/10/2016

An ok hotel for an overnite stay. It has a pool and gym which is a bonus and also the free wifi is good. Large bedroom with a good bed. All clean. I found the staff helpful. Well located on the A241 going through Buckingham.

"Interesting place"

3
16/10/2016

We went for an evening drink with Dad and Brother. Took someone a while to get to us....and then to find a table.... (they were all vacant). Took our drink order and then promptly disappeared. 25 min or so we inquired about the drink. They did not know anything of it. Repeated the order. Finally left about an hour later to the local pub. They are still looking for the order, I guess. Would return under certain different circumstances.

"Would not return"

2
29/09/2016

I won't be coming back here. The rooms and the hotel are very dark which made it feel quite depressing. The rooms are in desperate need of an update (and a good clean). The bathroom in my room was pretty grim, tiny showing space and the shower curtain kept sticking to me. The leisure facilities weren't bad, but there was a horrible stagnant smell in the changing rooms.

"Weekday getaway"

4
28/09/2016

I booked this hotel purely because of the leisure facilities as there were only 2 hotels I could find with those. I booked a 2 night midweek stay mon-wed. Hotel has a large car park and was nice inside rooms were big and spacious. Room has no drawers and I found this weird for certain things. We unpacked went down to the leisure centre to see a piece of paper on the notice boards once we were down there stating the spa isn't working nor is the steam room, I ask the leisure manager if this was correct and he said yes and the pool Is being used for children's swimming lessons but the sauna is ok???? We went in the sauna which was hardly even hot. Tried to go in the pool but between the swimming lessons parents around the side of the pool watching there was not enough room. We left really disappointed. I would have paid that little extra to go to another hotel with working facilities had I known I believe it would have more curtious had we been told prior to our arrival or even when we checked in I probably wouldn't have been so bothered but felt let down by this. Our spa break was not what we expected On a plus side the food in the hotel is nice well presented and main meals ranging from £12:50-£19 depending If it's a spa break your looking for make sure the facilities are useable. Apart from that hotel is clean and good for an overnight stay.

"Comfortable Hotel"

4
21/09/2016

Initially the hotel doesn't look overly inviting with the car park being the entrance really. Once inside the decor is a little dull, but the staff are super friendly and the room was comfortable for a night. Bar was rather limited although our night porter did serve up some excellent G&T's

"Best Western Buckingham"

3
20/09/2016

One night stay for business in the area. booked this hotel because of the facilities - gym and pool etc. the hotel is fine for a night's stay however it's somewhat dated and could do with a make over. Buffet breakfast is available but nothing too exciting. The town is about a 10 mins walk and I'd recommend you go there for dinner as there are a few nice little restaurants.

"Work function "

31/08/2016

Friendly and helpful staff always happy to support and answer questions. Lovely food - a good range to select from. Great room with a dance floor and entertainment provided. The event was slick and timing was excellent too. Very good service overall!

"Great Hotel"

4
31/08/2016

I have used this hotel a couple of times and will certainly use again. The fitness suite is wonderful, although did not get the oppotunity to use it this time around. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and there is a very pleasent walk from here into Buckingham.

"Nice Experience"

5
29/08/2016

Only stayed one night but our experience was very nice, all staff very helpful and polite, use of hotel facilities a nice bonus because we used the swiming pool, room quite even though the hotel is on the main A421, breakfast was lovely, could,nt ask for more

"Great Stay"

5
24/08/2016

Great stay at this hotel, receptionist was very friendly, checked us in and signed us up to BW loyalty programme. Points added straight away for our stay. Large room with massive bed, bath and good shower. Breakfast was self service but everything you need, plus they had tea urn! Perfect cup of tea to start the day.

"Unhelpful "

1
16/08/2016

In our opinion the booking system had a glitch and we ended up with two rooms. We were cherged for both. The management were very unhelpful. BE CAREFULL! Situated on a very busy road difficult to access if turning right.

"Dog friendly travelled with our Pug"

4
15/08/2016

Visiting family in Padbury and wanted somewhere we could take our dog.Easy check in room spotless considering dogs allowed and a ground floor room.Comfortable beds nice terrace to sit out and have a drink with our pup and some ground to walk him.good breakfast we had to eat in relays but not a problem. we did not have time to use any of the facilities. Dog slept all night and behaved impeccably. only qualm charged £10 for dog but nothing provided fine for a short stay

"Very Friendly Hotel"

5
13/08/2016

We stayed at the Best Western in Buckingham last week, we stayed for two nights. The manager and staff were great, all very friendly and very helpful. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was self service, from fruit juice to full english. We had a meal in the restaurant one evening, fantastic food and the waiter was very attentive. We highly recommend this hotel and we will be returning again sometime soon!

"It was OK"

3
12/08/2016

Reception etc was good although anyone with walking difficulties would have had problems getting that far. The room had a large comfortable bed but the bathroom was a problem. There was very low water pressure with poor water flow at the toilet, sink and shower. The swimming pool is good by hotel standards. The gym looked ok although I did not try it. I can't comment on the food as we were room only.

"Nice place to stay"

5
10/08/2016

The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere, with many things included in the price. Gym, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi is all here, so you do not need to miss out on a training schedule when away from home. The food is fresh and welcoming with a decent size restaurant. I am sure I shall be visiting again when in the area.

"Friendly, clean and nice staff"

04/08/2016

"One night stop"

4
01/08/2016

Visiting Silverstone Classic Saturday/Sunday. Friendly staff at check in. Room was large with super king bed(two singles together). I thought the mattress was a little soft. Tea/coffee making facilities. Hairdryer. The evening meal was extremely good and the breakfast served as a buffet was of good quality.

"Good"

4
01/08/2016

Don't stay if you are camera crew with lots of luggage no lift or trolleys and you have to go up to come down. Mad design. Staff helpful though and rooms showers etc ok. But close ish to Silverstone so useful for events.

"Good stay very welcoming"

4
26/07/2016

Stayed with friends for a single night, the restaurant was good, rooms a little tired and in fact I think the toilet was left unflushed which is little unforgivable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and were very accommodating. I would stay again but I don't think it would be my first choice.

"Ok hotel"

3
26/07/2016

Hotel a little tired but our room was nice and large with a huge bed but we paid a lot for this. We were asked to move out of restaurant after breakfast as they needed to prepare for lunch which I thought was a bit unnecessary and I felt that we were being watched when choosing out breakfast incase we did something wrong. I was gutted they had run out of soya milk so could not have coffee for breakfast which is a must for me! Breakfast average but what you would expect at this sort of hotel.

"Not the best best western but great staff"

4
25/07/2016

This is not the Best Best Western that I have stayed at whilst rooms were spacious and the bed comfortable the rooms could have really done with air conditioning it was quite unpleasant. The staff were all attentive and because of this I would recommend this hotel and I would return maybe not in the middle of summer but definitely when it is cooler

"So Nearly Wonderful"

4
18/07/2016

Let's start with the positive - the room we ended up in was superb. Large and spacious (except maybe a small, but adequate, bathroom). The double bed was actually 2 singles bolted together (as many are now), but it was comfortable enough. Very clean. The leisure facilities are also superb (except for the changing area, which is very small, and the showers, which seem to be hot only - not good after a sauna!). The pool is approx 13-14m long (good for a hotel) and there is a decent variety of cardio and strength machines (though nothing compared to a proper gym). The staff were also all very pleasant. Starting from our check-in to a problem with check-out and my BW gift card that needed a call to head office to sort out. Plenty of free and available parking on site too. A bit in the middle is that you really, really don't want a room that faces the main road, as it is noisy (about 50m away, at best). With no air con, you need to open the windows for air, which makes it too noisy. We had one of these rooms at first, but the check-in people managed to swap it for one with a much nicer view (and more importantly with much quieter). Wifi was free and worked in the rooms with no faff, but only a moderate signal strength, giving slow performance. The bad is that the breakfast isn't very good. Usual problems of no non-dairy choice of mile (soya, coconut, almond etc), which is really not good these days. Poor veggie options (again, as too many hotels fail on too). The bacon wasn't good (tasted as though it had been kept too long), the sausages were good, but not exceptional. Eggs were nicely fried and done just before needed out at the buffet, so excellent points for that. The cerial selection was poor (nothing healthy, just Kelloggs sugar added rubbish). Where's the porridge? And seeds/nuts etc to add to it. The grapefruit juice was good, but the orange was very cheap and nasty (and tasted watered down). But the unforgivable sin was poor coffee. An urn of pre-made (at some distant point in the past) of filter coffee is something that belongs in the 70s. Not good enough now. Restaurant was lacking in decent veggie options, so we didn't use it (and it was pricey). Beer in the bar was too expensive for a little country town (i.e. central London prices). Fix the breakfast, only use the rooms on the quieter south side and you'd have a superb offering (especially at the price).

"Could not fault it!"

We stayed at very expensive hotels during our stay in the UK - the Best Western is not cheap but it far upstaged any of the more expensive hotels - spotlessly clean, nice big bed, large room - fast Wifi - plenty of plugs..and the breakfast was really very good indeed..everything was freshly made - the scrambled egg was perfect. Congrats to Management - we will be back!

"Stopover"

4
05/07/2016

We used this hotel 2 years ago for a stopover between Warminster and Suffolk and found it ideal, perhaps the steps are not good for someone with mobility problems as I had to get everything in from the car. We made use of it again as it is ideally placed on the ring road of Buckingham and easy to find on our route. My husband is more disabled now and the steps were a bigger problem this time. The reception is really spacious and the whole feeling of the hotel is light and airy with reasonably attentive staff.

"Swimming pool is dirty"

1
04/07/2016

The pool floor was filthy, changing rooms stank, cold water which is supposed to be heated. No baby change facilities. The sides of the pool were covered in mould AND the staff who half heartedly wipes the floor was using a towel which guests probably use. They need a jolly good clean up pronto.

"Really nice hotel "

4
02/07/2016

The room was very big and had a large bed. The gym was included in the room price and was ok, though the pool was closed when I visited. The room would have benefitted from air-con Bath was huge and bathroom very clean. I will definitely stay here again.

"Fabulous Hotel"

27/06/2016

Loved the fitness centre in this hotel, also the rooms are spacious and very clean, staff are very helpful and local town has great places to eat. Bister Village is not far for a wonderful place to shop

"2 night stay"

26/06/2016

Good clean hotel reasonable pricing excellent breakfast. I booked breakfast via non BW site but this failed to materialise on booking. Would have liked better selection of beers at the bar. Rooms clean with tea/ coffee facilities.

"Good place to stay with your dog."

4
25/06/2016

Very nice experience with our small dog. Would recommend and would stay again. But would have been nicer if we were allowed in the bar area with our dog instead of being restricted to the public lounge area only which made eating dinner a bit public.

"Not the best"

23/06/2016

It's very tired and needs a update. There is little atmosphere. The service at night was fine, food wasn't, basic mistakes. Room was ok but that's about it, again just very 70's. Breakfast was ok, tried the leisure centre and nothing wrong with it.

"A pleasureable return visit following problematic stay in January"

4
19/06/2016

This return visit following a very problematic stay in January gave us a view of how a hotel can change and improve over such a short time. The customer service was excellent, now nothing seemed too much trouble. The new front of house manager, Lee Burson, has helped make dramatic changes, especially in the restaurant. Both the quality of food and the service were fantastic. Lee also listened to our feedback on site and remedial actions were being put in place. I'm sure that these have already been implemented. I can honestly say that this is a great and relaxing place to stay and we will definitely be returning here again. Well done to all of you.

"Overnight stay"

4
18/06/2016

I stopped in a double room for the evening and it was exactly what I expected. Comfortable and quiet at night. I only gave it 4 out of 5 simply because there wasn't much for me to eat on the menu. The staff were all very polite and helpful and I would stay here again in the future

"Needs updating "

3
17/06/2016

Stayed here while my boyfriend was working, bed is comfortable but the rooms are very out dated. The hotel needs a refurb. Buffet breakfast is poor/average, the sausages are bizarre. Not a bad location to get to near by attractions such as the Bicester village outlet (approx 20min drive) Wouldn't stay here again.

"Very comfortable hotel"

4
16/06/2016

I stayed here for a couple of nights with a small group and we found the hotel clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was fine. I booked a single but my room had a large double bed and a nice bathroom with a bath. The free WiFi worked fine. I'd be happy to go back there.

"Not great."

3
15/06/2016

Rooms good size and clean, There does not seem to be any interaction between the staff and customers. At breakfast not even a hello, good morning etc, even when clearing the table no communication at all. Was a very strange atmosphere never felt so uneasy in a hotel like I did here. At check out had to ask several times to print out my invoice, as receptionist said it was emailed to me, I don't think she could be bothered. And the plus side leisure facilities were great..

"Too noisy"

3
13/06/2016

Stayed overnight. Constant water pump noise turning on and off every minute throughout the nite ruined the visit. Otherwise was a good stay. Bed was very comfortable. Nice brekkie. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Plenty of easy car parking.

"Nothing special"

2
07/06/2016

Rooms decent and clean although dated. Some staff are excellent however no real guest standards here ie. some staff have no concept of service with a smile or even a simple hello or good evening. Some areas of the hotel are lacking in attention to detail. Closing on a positive the evening meals were very good although served in a not so customer focused manner.

"The look after you."

05/06/2016

Second time I've attended for a family event here, and once again it stands out for customer service. Although the bar staff need to smile more I can't fault them. Arrived early to check in which should have been at 2pm but the receptionist allowed us to get in at 12 to use the showered before our event, food was good for a Buffett and the service staff cleared up literally as you put your plate down. Evening meal was a three course carvery for £20 , would have preferred more of a choice on a Friday night but it didn't disappoint. The room was a family one and you could have got two families into it. Breakfast was help yourself all you can eat and was very good quality for a buffet style. If anything I would say the bar prices are a bit extreme but don't let this put you off and plenty of places to go in the local area if you don't stay in. Thank you best western for a great stay.

"great hotel and staff"

5
01/06/2016

great hotel with everything you need for a great stay pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom the staff are very helpful and polite and breakfast is great ask for a room not to be near the garage as it is a bit noisey

"I cannot fault it!"

29/05/2016

An incredibly warm welcome upon arrival and the Hotel Manager Ali Briky helped us with local knowledge and such things as wifi. Rooms are larger than normal, very clean and fresh, also quiet. Restaurant offers excellent fare, food is top quality and waiting staff are attentive.

"Spring Break"

4
29/05/2016

We wanted to find a hotel close to Bletchley Park for a two night stay. Having read the Trip Advisor reviews we were not sure about booking this hotel. We decided it is what it is, i.e. a stopover hotel on a main road. In the end we were glad that we chose this hotel; We stayed in a superior room (massive) for the same price as a standard room in other Best Western hotels. The staff were all very friendly; the duty manager came to us for a friendly chat after dinner. We also met a regular business user who was very pleased with the hotel. The food was very good but not over elaborate and competitively priced. All in all we had an enjoyable stay.

"Great staff, nice town, loved the pool and spa"

4
22/05/2016

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Buckingham over the weekend; we received the GREATEST welcome from Marine on the front desk, which immediately gave us a really positive impression of the hotel. We were allocated a quiet room on the ground floor at the back of the hotel; it was spacious and very comfortable. We visited the nearby (10 min drive) Stowe National Trust gardens during the day and were able to walk into Buckingham from the hotel in the evening to enjoy a superb meal at the Nelson St Restaurant - the walk took us through some pretty streets and through a park alongside the river. We used the pool, sauna, steam room and gym on the Sunday morning; some other reviewers have said the pool was small but we found it absolutely spot on. There's plenty of parking available, including at the rear of the hotel, and there are a couple of supermarkets nearby if you fancy breakfast - there's a bar and restaurant onsite though if you don't want to leave the hotel. The bathrooms are a little jaded with some peeling paint and slightly grubby sealings around the bath/shower area, but this is a minor negative. The staff are what really make this a good place to stay - special thanks to Marine and Marian the Romanian barman.

"Good hotel for short stay"

3
15/05/2016

We stayed here to attend a sport event in the area. The hotel room was clean and functional and reception staff were helpful and polite. We didn't eat in the hotel as there were lots of nice pubs and restaurants in the immediate area. The wifi in the hotel was patchy. Overall we would stay in the hotel again if in that area as it was a good base to explore the local area.

"Better than expected"

4
15/05/2016

Good parking, large rooms. Beds very comfortable. Tired in bathrooms but everything very clean. Did not dine or have breakfast, so can't comment on f and b. Staff efficient and polite, requested iron and board, delivered to room in five mins. Bit noisy from traffic if you have window open. Tv was not working for some programming reason.

"Relaxing friendly weekend"

5
13/05/2016

Returned for a relaxing night following too much shopping. Staff throughout excellent. Of particular note was the selection of vegetarian food to choose from. Had a swim - not too crowded to enable good exercise- will definitely go back.

"All ok, noise of other guests spoiled a good stay!"

3
11/05/2016

We had 2 rooms booked here for an overnight stay, paid a decent "sale" price which included breakfast. The rooms were fine, the hotel was quiet and nice and clean - very good first impressions. We all were happy with both the rooms - although the toilet did smell a little in our room, certainly not enough to complain about. The bed was nice and large, the rooms clean, tidy and warm. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choice, hot and cold. Again no complaints here! The only complaint we had was noise of other guests during the night. My daughter had noise from 1am until 2.30am. She couldn't sleep during this time. We heard the people arrive at 1am and had noise until they settled down. Then banging on doors again at 7am! I understand this could happen anywhere, but we did specify a quiet area of the hotel - we mentioned it to the receptionist in the morning but got nowhere! But to sum up, I would stay again, just hope we get a noise free night!

"Wedding weekend"

4
10/05/2016

We were attending a wedding and chose this hotel for the duration of our stay. We were very pleased with the whole experience. Good size room with large bed. Good decor. Staff helpful and professional. Food very good. Would definitely recommend this particular Best Western.

"Good for both an overnight, or longer stay"

4
10/05/2016

This Best Western provides the full service experience with 24 hour room service, an onsite restaurant as well as meeting rooms being available. Whilst the rooms are a little dated, they are comfortable, and the usual amenities are provided. The restaurant menu caters for most dietary needs, although subjectivity, it could do better by providing a greater selection of healthier options on the menu. An onsite gym and free (slow) WiFi are available.

"Business Trip"

28/04/2016

Good hotel for Business stay. Easy to find, good car parking. Hotel staff very welcoming and keen to make your staff pleasurable. Rooms spacious and comfortable and quite. Food excellent and seating area comfortable. Fitness centre attached to hotel

"Chilled and relaxed"

25/04/2016

3 days, 2 nights. Excellent food, service. Room comfortable and adequate very clean. Tea, mugs kettle, tv in room. Would have liked better lighting and toiletries biscuits available at reception so all you could want. Didn't use leisure facilities but these were adequate Overall very enjoyable weekend

"A poor example of a Best Western"

2
12/04/2016

Very expensive restaurant with no bar menu option. Small car park. Breakfast was too expensive so I went to the near-by Tesco. TV in room kept losing signal. Slow internet. Gym ok but some machines broken & none of the TV/Speaker systems worked. Small pool. Small changing rooms. I will look elsewhere next time.

"Excellent value"

4
11/04/2016

We stayed here for two nights, staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Room was well equipped, together with the Leisure facilities which are definately adequate. Evening meal for the family of seven was excellent, as were the breakfasts. Would definately recommend this hotel. You

"My stay at Best Western Buckingham Hotel"

5
08/04/2016

I have stayed at the Best Western Buckingham hotel previously, so happy to re book for my business trip. The hotel staff are very friendly, the rooms are comfortable and the food is very good. They also have a leisure centre (although I never visited myself).

"Welcomed for meeting"

5
05/04/2016

Fifteen of us were welcomed by the staff at this hotel. They were helpful, accommodating and thoughtful. We were given a place to chat. We had a delicious light lunch, served quickly and with no fuss. Thank you to all concerned.

"Good Night"

4
05/04/2016

Much better once you get in the door. Very inviting. Friendly staff, well presented desk and foyer. The kettle was the only problem, it seemed to contain soap, white residue and had a perfumed smell. Didn't matter, I even forgot to say as it was so good in all other ways.

"46 satisfied x Fleet Street Reunion guests..."

5
03/04/2016

From the initial meeting with the hotel manager to setting up a Reunion Dinner for 46 people was service service service.... Excellent exchange in emails, phone calls and face to face. From the moment you drove into the hotel car park and found enough room to park safely and securely the Best Western service began, the reception welcome, the signing in and key allocation you were made welcome as a special guest. The area around the bar was spacious pre dinner, and bar service was timely, ample seats and tables available to chat with colleagues, used glasses were removed very quickly. The dinner for 46 was in the Winslow Room, 6 round tables, ample room for guests, the setting of tables, food presentation, service was first class, and all guests received what they had pre-ordered on time. The drinks service around the tables whether cash or card was very timely. The party carried on in the bar from approx 22:15 until 02:15 and a great time was had by all. The bedrooms bathrooms were tidy and clean and all facilities worked, including lights, showers, tv's, kettles and the Beds were comfy. To finish our Best Western experience the breakfast was hot, well presented food and tasty, with ample fruit juices, tea and coffee to choose from. Staff cleared tables speedily and fresh hot food was topped up so nobody had to wait. The reception staff greeted everyone with a Good Morning and check out went without a problem. Thank you Best Western Buckingham from all 46 of us, your service helped to make it a great Reunion for 2016.

"Great overnight stay"

5
03/04/2016

we stayed here for just one night for a company reunion. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were just right for an overnight stay. The bed was huge and in particular was one of the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel. If ding in the restaurant I would definitely recommend the lamb shoulder which was superb. A good selection for the buffet breakfast as well. Good location close to Buckingham town centre and only a 15 minute drive to Milton Keynes.

"Poor for a Best Western"

2
02/04/2016

OK-£60 for a room seems reasonable (breakfast is extra and expensive-we didn't have as had to leave at 6.30am). Good points : Has a Spa. Didn't get a chance to try it. Guy in Spa was very helpful when we looked around. Beds are big and mattresses quite comfy, and room was a good size. Bad points : Rooms are dark and duvet had a few shoe marks on it. Bathrooms are ancient, poorly maintained and only 2 tiny bottles of soap. The Bar had no crisps and the restaurant almost kicks you out at 9.30pm. The food is tasty but, expensive as you are offered no bread or rolls and had to ask for water. WORST BIT-we got around 4 hours sleep. There seems to be a couple of cupboards in the hallways that house some sort of pump/fan. It sounds like a cruise ship horn sounding, every minute for 5 seconds throughout the whole night and even drowned out the bathroom fan and the kettle. Once you start to hear the sound, it is like slow torture every minute, of every hour. It is impossible to sleep. Staff on reception were not interested in our complaint the next morning. A very poor example of a chain that we thought would provide good quality.

"Average"

3
29/03/2016

Whilst relatively comfortable, our facilities were in need of a little refurbishment. The bathroom needs attention - tiles need regrouting and the wash basin needs replacing due to 'cracking' in glaze. Breakfast was good. Restaurant reasonable, albeit slightly pricey, but lacked a cosy ambience. Really disappointed they don't provide hot chocolate sachets in room.

"Overnighter"

5
28/03/2016

Return visit after too many years... hotel is every bit as good as it used to be... large rooms wiyh lose yourself in beds... friendly staff with great leisure facility... and this morning a very tasty breakfast served bu knowledgable and extremely helpful staff. 5/5 in my book

"Disappointing and overpriced"

2
22/03/2016

Stayed for 2 nights over a weekend. The rooms are fairly basic to say the least. No drawer space, uncomfortable chairs, basic shower, etc. (best thing was the bed which was a good size). Coffee sachets were not replaced after first night and there was no shampoo just shower gel. Even double checked this with Reception and they confirmed it. Really??? (Ended up going to garage next door to buy some shampoo.) The hotel is right next to a really busy A road so is very noisy. Not exactly a restful night's sleep! Some staff members are really nice but some come across as really quite rude which is not what you would expect. The wine by the glass selection at the bar is really poor which someone else has also commented on I see. Overall this is Travelodge standard but not at Travelodge prices (we paid over £100 a night!). I'd look elsewhere if I were you!

"Good option"

3
22/03/2016

The hotel was ok, rooms were a reasonable size, breakfast was good - a bit limited and all the days were the same. Martina the receptionist was very kind and extremely helpful with my parents and all their requests. The location was good. However I would revoke to go with a car otherwise moving by taxi is the only option

"Not young child friendly!"

2
21/03/2016

Came for family get together. We had been promised quiet room overlooking the back of the hotel and had even checked with them on previous day - no problem. On arrival given room overlooking very busy road and car park, very noisy, complained to reception - not interested -"Sorry we`re full!" Room very spartan, large bed, 2 uncomfortable chairs, hanging space but no drawers- had to live out of suitcase. Hotel dog friendly but definitely not for small children. Kitchen asked to microwave ready meal for 18 month old toddler absolutely refused quoting `health and safety grounds??? Suggested children`s menu but only available 2 hours later!! Asked for bar menu, told that was only for lunch time, so had to use restaurant. Will not be returning!

"Nice, friendly hotel"

4
18/03/2016

This hotel was booked for business stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was good (it would have been nice if there had have been Gluten Free bread for breakfast) and the room comfortable but in need of a spruce up (sink was very scratched, grouting around bath a little dirty aswell as the shower curtain being a little grubby and the fan in the bathroom very noisy). Despite all of this I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay there again myself.

"Immaculate property"

5
26/02/2016

Before our Valentine's day holiday, my husband and I have stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The property was immaculate, the staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the house keepers in particular was very indifferent and helpful with us, which made our visit feel just like home and welcoming. Maria had been looking after us, and made sure we were happy or if we needed anything. Outstanding service, we are looking not only to thank, but congratulate the business on working with such staff members! Would highly recommend this hotel for all types of travellers. Certainly worth its value. Thank you, Devon P.

"Everything we expected"

5
21/02/2016

I do not understand the complaints we read. We found the staff helpful, really nice reception area for tea or drinks, lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi. Room was a good size with a seating area, kettle, toiletries. A nice touch was the chamber maid leaving clean towels and extra toiletries outside of the room as we had asked not to be disturbed. Really comfy bed too.

Bit of a trek from bus stop if coming by public transport - on ring road. Modern hotel with decent size room, clean en-suite and most importantly, no traffic or other noises heard at night. Quibles - no biscuits in room, small amount of toiletries, bar a bit basic - larger and wine with no single Malts (come on, do you wish to maxamise your profits from busines travellers or not?), & WiFi slow Paid £90 for one night room only. Service was excellent with very friendly staff who organised a bus for our group to get to our meeitng

This is 6th time I've stayed at this hotel. Excellent value. Plenty of free parking. Good size spotless rooms. Comfy bed. Blackout curtains. Breakfast was very good choice and well prepared, some of it cooked to order. Staff very pleasant, helpful, polite some of them have been there since my first visit 5 years ago and always remember me and ask how I've been. Very unusual these days. Bar prices competitive and very good service. Had a great weekend. Thanks Best Western

"Disgraceful Customer Service Wrapped in Scapegoat Policy"

1
29/01/2016

After what had started out as an average style in a relative clean room ended in absolute disgrace. After one week and over £550 being spent on rooms and breakfast the hotel refused point blank to send back some important books left in a room by mistake and required an elaborate process of sending an empty package to be packed and shipped back (to avoid postage charges). Although the importance of this was iterated apparently this is policy etc etc. No true service and going the extra mile compounds by bland food and absolutely no follow up. Checking out cost me 15 minutes of my morning followed up with further issues on my card. If this is the policy I would highly advise businesses to look elsewhere for accommodation. Terrible service and will be making a point of avoiding this place and going somewhere that cares about my money and business. Not impressed and still to be resolved.

We were in Buckingham to attend a funeral and the staff could not have been more helpful - especially the lovely Jacquiline - thank you so much. The hotel is well located - the rooms a nice size and clean and comfortable. Restaurant and bar are good. No fridge in the room which is a shame. On site parking and overall a fine choice for a stopover.

A visit to the Buckingham hotel was met with changes since our last visit. Subtle changes in the presentation of food was no surprises on finding out they have a new chef. Those people who want their vegetables over cooked will be disappointed as the veg was cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive to our needs; and requests for a change of pudding, extra sauce and vegetables were supplied on request. A self service breakfast is always pleasurable, the sausages were particularly delicious, made for them by a local butcher. Sadly though tea stored in an urn doesn't keep like coffee does, so ask for a pit of tea for one as this is a far nicer way to enjoy the morning brew. The weekend experience was let down by the quality of single beds. One was pushed up against a wall and despite being on wheels, the bottom sheet wasn't even tucked under the mattress, laziness probably. Pulling the bed out and a few minutes of sheet tucking made the bed sleepable. The bathroom had signs of previous occupants with hair in the soap dish. The hotel has an leisure complex attached with a compact pool with spa, gym and a steam and sauna. The steam room wasn't working while we were there but understand that maintenance has to be completed at some time. I can highly recommend the bread and butter pudding.

Room 8.. Tv didn't work ( just static, tried wiggling leads) tired and late so gave up. Bed awful, mattress old and really no excuse , woke up with stiff neck and back. Room furniture been used by elephants to play football. Bathroom just old. Stayed 1 night, didn't have the breakfast I'd paid for as I just wanted to leave. On the plus side, it was clean, free wifi paid £75 for it.. Perhaps I expect too much.

"Annual Dinner"

This is a first class venue for an annual dinner The price that the package is offered at is outstanding value for money The rooms are clean and spacious Bar prices are only just above local pub prices My only complain is the lack of choice of bitter and no real ale on tap

"Good basic hotel"

Stayed here recently on a group booking for nearby Silverstone, so it was a functional visit. Can't complain, staff friendly, breakfast good and fresh. Overall, not a stellar 5-star stay, but perfectly adequate.

Hotel looked presentable an room was ok but the staff must have been trained at Fawlty Towers! Every fault mentioned to reception was either someone else's fault or was met with a shrug of the shoulders. Bill was incorrect three times and led to an argument at the front desk in front of other patrons and the hotel threatening to call the police despite us proving they were wrong. Food just about passable, limited choice, waiters are attentive but regularly tried to remove plates whilst we were still eating. Room looked good but was cold and dim. We did not chance the leisure facilities due to our poor experience in the hotel.

Ali B, Manager at BEST WESTERN Buckingham Hotel, responded to this review
Mr. Brian checked in at our hotel on the 18th. When he came to reception the next morning he complained about the room not being good enough at this point our receptionist advised him that he should have informed us the night before and could have changed his room to this his reply was that he was not decently dressed and could not call reception and continued complaining therefore our duty manager accompanied him to the room to see what exactly he was not happy with. There was absolutely no problem with the room. he then insisted on a refund and our receptionist offered him a discount, but he only wanted a full refund. This was refused and he started creating a scene in the lounge area. We had guests and he disturbed guests by trying to talk to them and shouting loudly. He was rude and moreover a thief . He not only created a scene but also stole the soap holder from the bathroom and then saying it was no soap in the room.. It was he was the one who called the police!

"Very good, no nonsense hotel"

Situated on the outskirts of Buckingham the hotel is a classic motel style place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. While I would hesitate to recommend the restaurant for a romantic meal, for business purposes it would be just fine. If what you are looking for is a business hotel with a quiet room and a comfortable bed you could do an awful lot worse.

"Local gym users were well catered for"

16/01/2016

I arrived in the pouring rain and ended up in the over flow car park as the gym was busy with many users in the main one. Climbing the steps to reception I waited whilst one chap handled several customers booking in. Despite a spare terminal, a chap who appeared to be the manager stood and watched. Eventually I was booked in and charged a £1 fee against my card despite pre-paying. The room was adequate. Dated decor and very dark wood meant that the room appeared more dark than it perhaps otherwise would. The internet was so slow my connection wouldn't remain and the bed was lumpy. The restaurant on site didn't appeal and did not represent good value. However, I did use it for self service breakfast. It wasn't especially clean and the staff seemed disinterested in helping at all. I think I would look elsewhere next time.

Good hotel well sited for Bicester, Milton Keynes Etc. Good parking. Helpful staff. Reasonably priced with nice swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym. Will definitely stay again on business. The town is just two minutes away and there is a Tesco's close by. Big double beds. Slept well

Great Place, stayed before about three times. Warm welcoming staff, very professional, great food too! The menu doesn't change that much which gives the opportunity to try it all. Overall it's a nice place if staying for business or visiting nearby friends, serves curry as a couple of choices on the menu, so how can you go wrong. Enjoy

"Lovely hotel and lovely staff"

I have been here a couple of time and I've always been very well welcomed. The staff and really kind and very attentive. There are a few things to do close by as well. They have dog friendly rooms and there is a walk in the wood where you can go with your dog for a walk in the morning. The town centre is stones throw away invade you want to do something different. If you plan to stay in you can sit in the lounge and have a beverage. It's quiet and relaxing. They also have a lovely leisure centre.

Good location with easy access. Nice hotel with good leisure facilities. Rooms now look a little dated. But there has been some updating to the general areas. Breakfast was nicely presented. Have stayed before and would come back again.

Booked here for one night whilst on business. Little bit strange when entering the car park. Take care or you will miss it. Ample parking and the welcome was efficient. The room was clean and spacious but tired including the lumpy bed. I never ate at the hotel on the evening but the breakfast was good

Loved this place.. staff could not do enough to make our stay a good one, can't rate them enough. the only thing that we didn't like was finding a dirty pair of boxer shorts in the bedside table.... Although after having a gorgeous buffet breakfast in the morning made up for 1 little mishap. 100% going back here!

"OK for the night"

22/11/2015

This hotel was OK for what we wanted as near to friends who we were visiting for the night. I knew before we went that it was a bit dated having looked on here, but reading it was clean I was happy to book. Staff were friendly and check in was nice and easy. Yes our room was clean and neat but it was very tired, the bathroom was really old, our sheets were very white and nicely pressed but was torn a little. Overall a good hotel and did the trick and what more can you ask for for the money we paid. Didn't use the health club and would stay again if in the area - although if Im honest would rather pay a little more and get a more modern hotel.

Stayed for one night. Friendly staff at check in. Room was large. Bed was two singles together. Not as comfy as most Best Western beds. Bathroom and bedroom slightly old fashoined but fine. Tv did not have a good signal and stuck quite a few times. Food at the hotel was reasonable price and good quality.

The Buckingham Best Western was ideal for a 3 day course hosted at Whittlebury hall. The staff on reception were pleasant and helpful both over the phone and in person. My room was more than adequate with a HUGE bed and hairdryer, kettle and TV. Not great TV signal but this did not matter too much. Breakfast selection was great and I would definitely stay here again.

Ideally located for business or pleasure trips to Milton Keynes if you don't mind the 15 mile drive. I found it to be pleasant with professional, friendly staff and generally very comfortable. It has leisure facilities, which i need to checkout on my next visit. If you want a quite retreat in a secluded location, the Buckingham is ideal.

"Perfect stay. "

Only stopped for one night as we were in the area for a party. Comfy bed, large room, decent shower.. Tea and coffee in the room.. Poor picture quality on the TV but we weren't planning on watching anyway so that didn't bother us! Friendly and helpful staff. Didn't eat there but had a drink at the bar. Nice hotel as expected from Best Western.

Although our stay was only for one night we enjoyed our time at the hotel very much. The room was large, warm and very comfortable. The food at breakfast and evening meal was extremely good and the staff obliging and friendly. We look forward to coming again.

I've stayed here a couple of times on business. It's a reasonable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is buffet style with a wide selection of food available. The rooms are comfortable with tv and tea making facilities in each one.

This is a standard best western . The room wasn't that clean as per picture. The mattress wasn't that comfortable and I couldn't get full night asleep. The food however isn't too bad . Portions are decent and quality is acceptable. However you need to show your hotel card all the time before you enter the restaurant. The staff are ok . There is also a gym which I used but the ventilation was poor .

"Great service although rooms are tired"

Stayed here in order to attend a local wedding on booking through to checking out our experience with the staff was great nothing seemed to much trouble and was very professional. Our room was comfortable and clean however the furnishings and decor are tired and in need of updating and the complimentary coffee tray was not a very welcoming sight. Breakfast was excellent full cooked buffet all very well done my only criticism would be please find a nicer coffee. All in all a nice hotel with happy smiling staff.

"Good short stay hotel"

11/10/2015

Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Effortless check in. If you have mobility problems though I would suggest you ring in advance as there is no lift and the hotel is on 3 floors. Also lots of steps from the car park to to the hotel but you can walk round to access a different way. We didn't eat here so I can't review that. Our bed wasn't very comfortable though but a mattress topper may have helped. Also towels are very thin and tatty looking but clean so can't really moan about that. It is on a main road and we were on the front of the hotel but on the ground floor and didn't really hear it. I imagine if you are on the second or third floor tough it may be louder.

"Disappointing Visit"

07/10/2015

Stayed overnight after spending the day at Silverstone, hotel not very far from the track Room 2 had an unpleasant smell when first entering, it was not noticeable after a while but it was off putting. The pillows were poor but the bed was OK.The room was tidy and spacious but there were no biscuits left with the tea/coffee.. There was a intermittent drone all night from somewhere near the bathroom which was not the bathroom vent fan also if the window was open traffic noise would be a problem. We went for a meal in the restaurant which was good, the food was freshly cooked and service was good. The breakfast was OK and the staff were friendly. We would not return to the hotel , disappointing visit.

I stayed here last week whilst watching a Rugby World Cup match at the MK Dons stadium. The staff are uber friendly and ordered us a very reasonably priced Taxi. The breakfast was very hearty. I would recommend you ask for a room to the rear of the hotel as it can be a little noisy at the front of the hotel. The A421 runs just outside of the hotel.

"Good for a short stay, wouldn't stay longer than a night or two"

29/09/2015

We stayed here after a wedding so we were in need of sleep! The room was incredibly hot (it wasn't even that hot a hot day!), it was only the next morning, we noticed the fans in the wardrobe, not something you tend to look for when getting to your room late at night! The bed was fine, the bathroom was fine. I'd say it's good for somewhere to sleep for a night but I wouldn't want to stay any longer. Breakfast was very basic. It's a budget hotel but good for a short stay.

"Excellent food, rooms a little tired"

23/09/2015

Stayed here for a couple of night for a weekend break. On arrival it seemed like we were the only guests as the only people we saw were staff, whom I can say were very efficient and friendly. It literally took just a minute or two to check in and we were off to our room. The whole hotel, but especially the rooms are a little tired and showing signs of general wear and tear. But you can't expect everything to be brand new all of the time so it doesn't bother us at all. Everything worked perfectly and was cleaned to a high standard. The room was a good size, enough room for everything and a nice view out the window, The only thing that some may find not to their taste was the very soft mattresses, I thought they were great though, very comfy. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant the first night, and wondered what it would be like, we didn't have very high expectation but we couldn't have been more wrong, the food was absolutely excellent. Taste, quality, presentation, all to a very high standard, well beyond what you'd expect for a three star hotel, it wouldn't have been out of place at a five star establishment. We had no hesitation in eating there on our second night and the food again was to a very high standard. Overall we had a great stay, very good value, and very good food.

"A good base"

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and have fresh air. The windows open which is good as it can get warm. The health suit is nice and clean with lots of facilities. A great place for a base to explore the surrounding area.
