"Wonderful Oasis in the desert!"

5
User 05/04/2019

We recently enjoyed our first stay at this resort. The room was quite large for a hotel room, with a little balcony. Although the chairs (wrought iron bistro type) we not the most comfortable, the patio was a good size. The A/C worked great! The pool area was clean and there were lots of loungers. We did not go to the onsite restaurant, but decided to go into town to a local place instead. We did hit a bucket of balls (complimentary to hotel guests) at the golf course's driving range. The course looked beautiful!! We wished we had had time to play a round. Just another reason to go back!

"Customer service exceeded expectations"

User 04/04/2019

After looking forward to our getaway for several weeks, we were extremely happy with our poolside king suite. The staff was friendly at check in and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Unfortunately, we had to leave early due to illness. Once again, the staff was understanding and empathetic. We highly recommend Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club and look forward to our return.

"Delusions of Grandeur"

chbruce, Dana Point, California 03/04/2019

On this spur of the moment trip, we stayed for 1 night. I've stayed at this motel many times over the years, including a couple of times since they switched over to their current Best Western affiliation. The motel is nice, and offers a relaxing pool (which I think is offered out to the local community for water aerobics classes?). It is a HUGE stretch to call this a "premier collection" property, and the motel's current high rates and resort fees are an insult, especially to those of us who have visited this motel for years. If this property wants to be compared to the "premier collection" standard, I'd have to give it 1 star. However, it does compare favorably against a typical Best Western, so I'll give it 3 stars. The rooms are comfortable, though the bathrooms in particular are basic, dated and in need of updating (not many "premier resorts" feature fiberglass-style tub enclosures). The furniture, while comfortable, would be well-suited to a college dorm. The toiletries that are offered are certainly not "resort-worthy" -- management should consider offering larger bars of soap and separate shampoo and conditioner, rather than "conditioning shampoo". It's laughable to ask the front desk clerk what's included in the resort fee and to be told that it includes things like internet, the pool, and the exercise room -- all of which would be offered at no additional charge at any Best Western or other budget motel. So... for the past few years, I've really been in a quandary. I like this motel as a mid-scale motel in a remote desert town. It is NOT a fancy resort, and it always leaves me with a bad impression when I see the new higher rates and ridiculous "resort fee". Perhaps the owners should take a trip over to Palm Springs to see what a "premier resort" looks like, and maybe then they can market this property as what it is -- an above average motel in a humble, modest town.

"Spacious hotel in a good location"

3
Nao H, San Diego, California 02/04/2019

The hotel is in a good location at ~5 min drive from town of Borrego Springs and ~10 minutes from the Anza Borrego Visitors Center. The room was spacious for our family of four (with two little kids) with a good size balcony. The pool and spa were also clean and large, and we liked the layout of the buildings which made it easy to park our car near our room. The heat lamp in the bathroom is a nice, and so is the ceiling fan switch near the beds. However... we arrived 18 minutes before check in time and our room was not ready, which is fine, but the front desk staff was rude about it. When I returned a couple of hours later, the same person was so polite and friendly as if our previous interaction had not even happened. The pool towels are supposed to be at the front office but it was not stocked and the front desk staff laughed about it. As for the room, the shower head was horrible, and the bed was made in a way that turning down the bed pulled out bottom sheets. In terms of safety, there is a dead bolt on the door but no chain latch, and the buildings are completely unlocked. Finally, there was no recycling bin in the room. Overall, we had a good stay, but for $250 a night, I would like to see the above points improved.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your room. We are still in the tail end of the flower bloom rush for first week of April. Due to the occupancy at that time we do typically check in guests closer to posted check-in time. We will forward the details of this review and address with the team. We appreciate your business.

"Musty smells, old mattresses, and alarm clock went off"

1
Xaqnoth, Los Angeles, California 31/03/2019

I pick this place to bring the family for one night of relaxation and to go view the wildflowers. When we got in the room they have a distinct musty. My mother and father had decided to come with us and my brother and his fiancée came as well. I checked their rooms every room had this awful nasty old smell. When I got in the bed I noticed that there were two deep divits in the mattress. Clearly it had not been changed a long time. I might've been able to look past these issues except for one thing occurred that made me believe this hotel simply doesn't care about its guests. For reference I simply can't count the number of hotels I've stayed in in my life. It Hasto be hundreds at this point in literally countries on every continent and something occurred in this hotel that's never occurred in any hotel I've ever stayed in my life. The alarm clock went off in the middle of the night. We came there for rest and relaxation and obviously what happened was the hotel staff failed to reset the alarm clock from the previous hotel guest. One might say it was just an accident and that's fine but a) it's Never happened to me once in hundreds of hotel stays around the world and b) It woke the baby, woke the toddler woke the wife and essentially ruined the restrul aspect of the vacation. One might think this is a one off accident and doesn't deserve a one star review. However I think there is a trend at this place where they don't really care about their guests very much. To Illustrate this point I called the hotel to ask someone at the counter if they knew which of the two Lutheran churches was having the nightly stargazing event as we had heard that the event was at the “Lutheran church”, but there were two in town. Upon calling into the hotel to ask if they knew the woman simply said I don't know and I asked is there someone else there who might be able to help me and she said no. Ask any concierge? no. She basically just wanted my phone call to end. I'm over this place. It smells. The beds suck. The ruin your rest. They don't care - and phone it in - don't waste your money.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We appreciate the feedback and sorry to hear your experience was not as expected. Please give us a call, we'd like make up the for the shortcomings of your last stay. We will also pass on this review to address with the team. We really appreciate you business and hope we can make this up to you.

"Talk to Ray"

5
traveljonesSantaAna, Laguna Niguel 27/03/2019

It is beautiful in the desert in the spring and fall. This year the desert flower bloom started early and we went to see the partial bloom without the crazy crowds that appear when the superbloom is full underway. Anza Borrego is a beautiful State Park but if you go in summer you must prepare as it is HOT. Should I emphasis HOT and take PLENTY of water. This is NOT Disney land. But in the spring it is quite pleasant and whe the flowers bloom it it is extra beautiful. s for the Borrego Springs Resort, that was a very nice experience. Speaking to Ray on the telephone was like a trip to the past with someone actually taking his time to help you and deal with your situation. AND he was sitting behind the desk when we arrived so I could thank him for such. The rooms, suites actually were motel/hotel like but very comfortable and I have no complaints. The water pressure in the shower was more than adequate and the resort is basically inside the park so you are right there to get to the park and enjoy all that it has to offer. Be sure to go to the Anza Borrego Visitor's Center which is 5 minutes or so from the resort and orient yourself, then go out and safely enjoy.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Our Team at BSR would like to thank you for your excellent review. It is always good to hear about our guests excellent service experiences, we hope to see you back soon.

"An average hotel with a way-above-average price"

2
SanDiegoLovesSnow, San Diego, CA 19/03/2019

I'd give this three stars, except for the price-gouging room rate. We stayed one Friday night recently, in order to join a group hike next AM. Due to the flower bloom, our usual hotel was booked solid. The Borrego Springs Resort is actually a Best Western; it's a resort only because of the attached golf course and spa. The room was clean and comfortable like most Best Westerns, but there wasn't anything special about the room, or the facilities, to justify a price that's triple that of the average Best Western. The decor is pedestrian; the lobby is dim and dated. There wasn't even a printed channel guide for the TV or any kind of description of amenities beyond a price list for (exorbitant) spa treatments. Breakfast is NOT included, surprisingly, considering the outrageous room rate. We opened our patio door to let some air into the very musty, stuffy room, then turned on the noisy, clicking fan. We had to close the patio door due to the incessant shrieking of kids from the pool, which went on until quite late. There was a lot of loud talking, hollering and door-slamming when some of the families on our floor returned to their rooms after 10 PM. Apparently the pool's open until very late and there are no quiet hours that we could discern. We needed to eat breakfast fairly early so we could meet our fellow hikers by 8:45 AM. We were 5 minutes early for the 7 AM opening time at the restaurant. It was a bit chilly outside, in the 40s, and the restaurant door was unlocked so we went in to wait in the warmth, but were chased back outside by an employee and made to wait until 7:05 AM. For the rate we were paying, surely they could have let us wait indoors. Service seemed confused and clueless. The person who seated us said she had to "find" our server to bring us menus. We ordered beverages, which took several minutes to arrive, then our breakfast took nearly a half-hour to arrive. (Perhaps they had to round up the hens.) There were only 3 customers in the room. A poached egg on avocado toast and a breakfast burrito shouldn't take a half-hour to make when you're practically the only ones in the restaurant. We get much faster service at our local breakfast place, even when it's full. We noticed that the staff, including our server, were also getting trained in bar service, which might account for the air of distraction. We were actually at the point of getting up and walking out when the food FINALLY arrived. It was good, if overpriced ($12 for a breakfast burrito and fried potatoes) but we had to gulp it down so fast we barely tasted it. If you're looking for prompt breakfast service, best go to the local coffee shops, Jilberto's, or the grocery stores instead. This Best Western "resort" is way overpriced, a bit shabby and worn (chairs in the bar area where we ate had rips in the fabric), and noisy at night. Borrego Springs has lodging alternatives which offer pretty much the same amenities for much less money. Save your budget, don't stay here unless it's the only game in town.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We appreciate your feedback and sorry to hear your stay did not meet expectations. We are warning people at check-in that in general the whole town is busier than normal including ourselves. Regardless your stay is important to us and we hope you give us a chance I future to provide you with an excellent stay.

"Borrego Springs Golf Course"

bbaldock, Edmonton, Canada 19/03/2019

Well worth the drive from Palm Springs or San Diego, course was in great shape and price was very reasonable. Golf included, golf, cart, range balls and water in cooler on cart. Friendly staff in the clubhouse. Good course for all players.

EricaBSR, General Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Dear bbaldock, We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful golf course and our friendly staff. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit out to Borrego. Erica Atmaca General Manager

"It is ok"

3
Kenny H, Phoenix, Arizona 19/03/2019

Rooms are way overpriced for what you get. At $400 I thought this room and facilities were way overpriced. It would be more in par with $150-$200 a night room in a nice area with a good restaurant. The food at the restaurant on site was good however the service was very slow. They do have a good shift with some interesting menu items.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Thank you for your review, we are happy to hear you enjoyed the Arches restaurant and hope to have you back.

"Not a great value"

3
User 15/03/2019

This is a Best Western, so expect that the bed is uncomfortable (and the pillows are appalling). In the plus column, it is clean and well-located. Wish I had tried to find a short-term rental or condo.

TonyBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We appreciate your review, we will definitely will pass on your experience with our pillows to address that ASAP. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your location.

"Very comfortable"

5
Dansker58, San Francisco, California 14/03/2019

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was a suite and it was nice to have the extra space. There was coffee machine, fridge, microwave and dishes. Bed was very comfortable. Nice deep bathtub. We were on the first floor with a private deck and table with chairs. Beautiful pool and spa. Just a 5 minute drive from the center of town with restaurants. Plenty of parking and the room was very clean.

"Don't stay here"

1
jathlene2000, Dublin, Ireland 10/03/2019

This place was priced at over 200$ for the night. Breakfast was not included!!! Expected a dessert oasis which it was not. The restaurant and bar area smell and are old, woren and in need of modernisation. Only we were stuck we would have went elsewhere. The rooms are also tired and dated. We waited about an hour for a salad and a burger in a not busy restaurant. Food was ok. This hotel is over priced and under whelming. Also would not let us check in until 4pm EXACTLY and we were sent away from reception twice.

"Old property; Old fixtures"

2
Bemlaw, San Diego, California 07/03/2019

The good thing about this property is that it is quiet and relaxing. However, because it is old, lots of things are out of order (like the ice machines). Also, because it is old, don't expect to be able to put on your makeup in the bathroom with only the overhead light. In addition, you may have a really noisy bathroom fan, like we did (which is connected to the light so if the light is on, so is the loud fan). Hopefully you won't have the screeching shower like we did which when we finally got someone in engineering to see it (I called at 10:30 and then had to insist on service again at 4pm), we were told it would have been an "easy fix". There was cat or dog hair on the carpet in our room. I complained to management but again nothing was done about it. I really expected with all the problems we encountered, that we would have been offered a discount or a drink at the restaurant but I guess they don't need our business. Unfortunately, now with social media, the Borrego Springs Resort suffers poor reviews when they don't make an effort to help their customers.

"Convenient, Comfortable, Quiet"

4
DulciTraveler, Long Beach, California 06/03/2019

We enjoyed a quiet and comfortable stay at the Borrego Springs Resort. As it was February, room rates were still reasonable. The hotel is convenient to both town and routes for wild flower viewing. Our double queen room was large including a 4 drawer dresser with space to layout a suitcase on top (as only 1 luggage rack provided). The beds were quite comfortable though we both noted that the pillows were lumpy. The room is decorated with pleasant muted earth tones befitting the surroundings. Plug ins are provided by the bed for electronics and a large table easily accommodated two people with laptops (though additional outlet needed on table). The small kitchen area with its own sink offers coffee, a microwave and refrigerator. There's lots of closet space and robes are provided. The bathroom has excellent counter space with a large mirror and good lighting. Their water saving shower is functional but expect to be in it a while to rinse hair. We did not use any of the resort's facilities as we were there for flower viewing. The facility loses a circle as it was not obviously eco-friendly. No recycling containers were provided in the room. Furthermore we had to walk off the property to get a good star view in this dark-sky enclave. Too many lights abounded on the property including pointless annoying ones pointing upwards to light up the underside of the palm trees. The desk staff was efficient but definitely not “warm” or informative. Still I would stay here in the future.

"Spa is great. Visit it, but stay elsewhere!"

2
DancingAround, Boston, Massachusetts 25/02/2019

Spa gets a 5. Bed a 2. Desk staff a 2 and restaurant a 1. The room is large but tired and we did not get a good nights sleep. We paid extra for a mountain view – rip off – there was a mountain behind the housing development and road that we looked out on, but I would not say that was something you should advertise and pay extra for. They also ask you to pay extra for an early check in or late departure. We did not but what a rip off! Have never been asked to pay for that, just offered if it is available. We stayed there to hike Anza – Borrega and to get a spa treatment. We had identified a couple of known hikes with trailheads in Borrega Springs. The desk staff knew nothing of the trailheads or park office and almost seemed surprised that we would be hiking. We made a reservation for dinner before our hike. The entrance to the restaurant smelled musty. When we returned to the hotel we realized that around 4 in the afternoon the restaurant had called and left a message on the cell phone to cancel our reservation! My husband went to inquire and he was told that the marketing director had disappeared for a couple days and then called to say they had booked a biker convention for the restaurant. The restaurant had no prior knowledge and was short staffed so had to cancel all other parties! What kind of way is that to do business. We had a lovely dinner over at Fox Bistro at La Casa Del Zorro Resort instead. In the morning the pool was consumed by an elderly water aerobics class. Another gentleman was complaining that the spa was sudsy! And while we were leaving another convention was arriving. The other guests all looked old enough to be my mother and I have a college aged child! The spa was GREAT – the only shining star. The receptionist was friendly and helpful – she told us about sculptures around town and said the front desk had a map. The spa person who booked our appointments over the phone ahead of time was very helpful and friendly. The treatment staff did a fantastic job – it was so relaxing and well done! Thank you!

ashyajnik, Union City, California 03/02/2019

Nice place to stay. Great location. Good food in the restaurant. I wish they would invest in making the rooms better. The beds and bathroom need a makeover. Golf course, swimming pool and tennis court makes it an attractive option for families with kids.

We stayed 3 nights, it was a great room & service, but this BW does not have a free breakfast. We have been staying at this particular BW for years & will be staying many more times in the future. We travel to Borrego frequently, & always stay at this hotel.

"Borrego Springs Resort With Nice Views!"

5
denisevasquezphoto, San Diego, California 19/01/2019

My favorite place to stay in Anza Borrego is the Borrego Springs Resort. The location is pretty, quiet & central, and all of the staff are really nice and accommodating, it's wheelchair accessible & they have ADA rooms! Upon arrival I informed the woman checking us in I was a photographer. She gave us a really nice sized room with a balcony patio on the ground floor & informed me the view from our window would be a great spot for catching the sunrise! Sweet! That was a very helpful tip! I woke up at the crack of dawn, let my boyfriend sleep in, quietly grabbed my camera gear, and witnessed the colorful world come to life! As I sat outside on the patio drinking my coffee, listening to a pack of coyotes singing, I captured some beautiful moments featuring a palm oasis that was right in front of our room…these moments will stay with me forever! I've never seen a more beautiful sunrise. We didn't play golf but we had fun people watching during breakfast. Breakfast was not included in our room price, but we tried it anyway, it was a bit pricey, but worth it because breakfast was but delicious & so was the view from our table! The resort has a golf course, full service spa, outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi which was really nice, especially if you're hiking all day!

TonycBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Your excellent review is appreciated. We love to hear detailed and happy reviews from our guests. Our property is definitely relaxing and we have some spectacular views. We look forward to having you again!!

"Check your credit card carefully!"

1
Sdancer2, Los Angeles, California 15/01/2019

When I checked our credit card charges, I saw two duplicate charges by this hotel. I contacted the hotel about it and was transferred to their controller. I gave him both transaction reference numbers provided by the credit card company. He promised to look into it and call me back. After waiting for a few days, I had to go ahead and file a dispute with my credit card company. The credit company has send a request to this hotel about a duplicate charge but did not get any response back. Now I have to wait for two months (time allowance for the merchant to answer) to resolve it. Shady!

TonycBSR, Assistanct General Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We did have a glitch in our system and the controller is working to get all issues corrected. We appreciate your business and do hope to see you again.

"Excellent golf course. Yucky food"

chelitamedrano, San Diego, California 30/12/2018

I have been visiting this resort since 2006. Golf if great as always. The hotel is clean and basic. There is no safe boxes in the rooms. However we were really disappointed with the taste and quality of food. It has declined significantly. Avocado toast was gross. I miss the previous chef.

Stayed here with family and guests for my son's 1st birthday party. Reservations and Check in quick and easy. Rooms and jaccuzi were awesome. Parking and resort property clean. Ice machines working properly, and resort services on point. Guests loved the scenario it presents calling it an oasis in the desert. I will stay here each time when visiting family. "Amazing time in RV park"

5
PansyKwong, El Cerrito, California 02/12/2018

Borrego Springs is located within Anza Borrego Desert State Park. We had an RV and a pull-up spot with full hookup. There is a beautiful golf course, swimming pool, hot tubs, pool room and lots of paved roads to walk around. Take a tour of the park with a guide since it takes a four wheel drive car to get to many sites. Find the Sky Art metal sculptures. Enjoy the many restaurants and museums. The people are very friendly and helpful.

Kim D, Director of Sales at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We're happy that you enjoyed your time in Borrego Springs and the Anza-Borrego Desert. It seems as if you were a guest at the beautiful Springs at Borrego, which is an RV Park and golf course just five minutes away. We do not have an RV Park on property, but please keep us in mind next time you're in the area. In addition to our 100 room hotel, we have a full service restaurant (The Arches), an 18-hole championship golf course and a full service day spa (Spa Serenity).

This hotel and golf course are located within view of the desert bad lands. The staff is incredibly helpful with arranging tours and giving directions for visiting the nearly 100 sculptures commissioned by the Avery family on Galleta Meadows. The grounds, pool and tennis courts and golf course are beautiful, with native desert plants including several varieties of cactus and Mexican honeysuckle. The restaurant is very good and open year round.

"Excellent front desk interaction!"

User 04/09/2018

Showed up on 09/04 ~5:30 pm with a Booking.com confirmation, but somehow it wasn't in the resort's computer. The woman at the front desk was very understanding and asked my room preference before checking me in at the same rate I had thought I reserved. I've never experienced a ‘lost' reservation before, but am so pleased it worked out fine. Thank you.

"Nice resort"

patrick r, Lomita, 04/09/2018

Rooms were spacious with comfortable furniture, which is always a plus. Slept well on a decent bed. Had a back room suite with no view, but didn't spend much time in the room anyways. Played the golf course. Beautiful and fun course. Ate both breakfast and lunch at the restaurant with view of golf course. Nice ambiance. Food was good. Was a little disconcerting to have the morning dishes across the way sitting on the table next to us the entire time. When we came back in for lunch the dishes were still there. We sat at the bar..FOr the money we paid for the room, I would have expected at least a continental breakfast out of the deal, but was only offered coffee.

"A little quiet in the height of summer!"

4
phileasfoggtmc, Nottingham 19/08/2018

Loved our one night stay at BS on route between La Jolla and Palm Springs. This really is a one road town in the height of summer - 114F....resort hotel covers a big area but we literally hardly saw another guest. Pool area good, and reception deserted. Rooms a little dated but would suggest this is one of the better hotels in the area and certainly one of the largest. Rooms a little dated but good wifi and air conditioning made our stay comfortable. Would definately recommend Carlee's place for food and the metal art structures in the area known as Galleta Meadows

"Not worth the money"

2
traveler0339, Darien, Connecticut 09/07/2018

We paid $120+ hidden $14 resort fee upon check in during off season. The room had terrible odor like Lysol spray mixed with vomit. Also room was dirty including dead bugs, white crusted stuff on wall in bathroom, white crust on the decorative bed pillow, etc. it is more like a motel 6. Wouldn't recommend.

The rooms were ok, the pool was dirty and all the vending machines were out of order. No pool side service and the restaurant isn't even located in the main area. You have to drive or walk to it. Shouldn't be called a resort. Wouldn't stay here again.

"Nice place for not lots of money"

sunshinegirl53, Santa Clarita, California 04/06/2018

Let me preface this review by saying this hotel is NOT a resort; yes, there's a golf course and allegedly a spa but it is an older but well kept 2 story hotel surrounding a very small pool and hot tub. If you're looking for a resort do not look here. On the other hand, this is a very well maintained VERY clean hotel; the staff is just lovely and extremely responsive to your needs. It has a good location for anything you would want to do in Anaz Borrego Desert. If you are looking to spend a few days doing the desert thing I would certainly stay again. Very resonably priced also.

This hotel was amazing! The staff was friendly. They have tennis court you could play in and you could check out bikes and ride wherever you want. There's so many things to do. They have a really nice pool with a hot tub. I am definitely coming back to this hotel when i visit. My stay was pleasant. Thank you Borrego Springs Hotel for everything

"Off season visit"

Manhattan48, Mahnattan48 23/05/2018

This resort is a little to far out of town, and it is tired. The rooms were large and beds comfortable enough, but it's kind of dreary. This was not helped by he weird feeling we had that we were the only ones there. We did see a couple other people, but it was overall empty. We are not golfers so cannot comment on the course. We did not eat at their restaurant The Arches because it was not well rated. Will are unlikely to go back to Borrego Springs, but if we did we would not return to the resort.

"Wonderful Weekend Stay"

5
KrissyRDH, Riverside, California 20/05/2018

Just returned from a weekend stay at the resort. The receptionist was very helpful and was able to accommodate my request for a mountain view. The room was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable and AC worked great. The property was also very clean and incredibly quiet. We enjoyed the pool and spa as well. I feel the value was much higher than what we paid for and I would happily stay here again. My only negative experience was at the on site restaurant The Arches but I will review that separately.

Kim D, Director of Sales at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review

"Not much has changed, except the prices"

chbruce, Los Angeles, CA 17/05/2018

We stayed for 2 nights as a last minute Christmas stay. We've always liked the hotel, and we still do. However, the new higher prices make the hotel no longer worth it. It's comfortable and clean, but to call it a resort is a bit of a stretch, and to charge a resort fee is an insult. The Christmas meal was pretty bad, and I wouldn't recommend this place for that. Bottom line, they've raised their prices one too many times -- when I returned to the area in April, I stayed at the Oasis

We appreciate your review and feedback. We hope that you will give us another try in the future and enjoy the upgrades the resort is undergoing. Thank you again.

"Great Place to Relax"

5
User 11/05/2018

My family and I recently stayed at Borrego Springs Resort. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the Arches and the food is amazing. We had a Burrito and French Toast for breakfast. For Dinner we had the Spicy Burg (veggie patty substitute) and pasta. They now feature daily specials in the restaurant, sorry we won't be here longer for the $.50 wing day!!! The golf course was in great shape and lots of fun for me (single digit golfer) and my daughter (novice). The course featured a good combination of short holes good for scoring and some longer holes which are challenging and make you earn your score. Greens are the perfect speed. Can't wait to return.

"Stay was ok, not sure I will return."

Lelas100, Nanton, Canada 07/05/2018

I called ahead to make a reservation and asked for a mountain view room. When we arrived, we were told that the room I had booked was not available and so they were moving us to another room. The room looked over the parking lot. I have twice requested an invoice from, as the amount that has gone through on my card seems to reflect the additional $20 mountain view room. Our check in lady was not friendly. The pool was clean, although a little cool. The hot tub was really dirty. The hall way to our room had a really musty smell. Once in the room, it was fine. Cleanliness was good inside the room. No corkscrew, glasses or dishes to make use of the microwave/cooking facilities in the room. no dish washing detergent, cloths or drying towels.

"Nice resort"

4
Raven25Blue, Munich, Germany 27/04/2018

I recently spent one night here and wish it could have been more. First of all, they gave me an upgrade to a spacious luxury king suite. The furniture in the living room area looked old and a bit worn but the sleeping room was nice and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever had while traveling. The surroundings are very quiet so the only thing that woke me up in the morning was the chirping of birds outside my window - a very pleasant way to wake up. What I found a bit weird is that they don't have a Best Western sign anywhere on their property so I guess that makes it difficult for some people to find the entrance. Also, they charge a (moderate) resort fee in addition to the nightly rate but they do offer bicycle rentals for free (and, I guess, some other stuff that I didn't try). There is a lot to discover in the area so I hope I will be able to come back and spend more time, with hopefully nicer temperatures than during my stay (close to 100°F).

what an Excellent place! we checked in on Wednesday, Ray at the front desk helped us, and gave us an awesome room with a beautiful balcony over looking the mountain. The property is very nice, and everybody made us feel like home, they are pet friendly and have 2 nice pools and an awesome Spa. we had dinner 3 nights at their restaurant " The Arches" . Make sure you catch their happy hour, the lounge outside is looking over the golf course, and It is a Magnificent view .Gerry was our Bartender, he was really awesome, accommodating with a great deal of knowledge about the Area. We loved the place so much and we are definitely coming back.

"Best hotel experience at a budget price!!!"

5
paulhundal, West Vancouver, Canada 04/04/2018

Frankly I was blown away at what a great room we had for a modest price. It was a first class experience in what I believe is the best hotel in town. Borrego Springs was a wonderful place to visit but is not filled with tourists which may be why it is such an exceptional deal. Great choice for families on a budget who want to visit a beautiful place. The town has many nice restaurants and is surrounded by a State park that has many scenic trails and memorable destinations.

Sue L, Cupertino, California 01/04/2018

When we have stayed in Borrego Springs for longer periods (2 weeks to a month), we have preferred a house or condo rental with full kitchen, etc. But since we were only in town for two nights, BSR was a perfect choice. We asked for a room on the first floor and away from the pool - good choice to add quiet to the list of positives. Staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. Beds are very comfortable; all linens and toiletries of high quality.

Everyone was very accommodating, friendly and professional. Chairs on balcony could be a little more comfortable but it was just nice having a balcony! Ate at the Arches for breakfast (on-site) outside patio which was lovely. Separate sitting area in room, free wi-fi, warm pool, free bike use which looked good. Love Borrego Springs for desert beauty, hikes, and absolute getaway!

"Great Staff, Average Rooms"

3
A J, Norfolk 24/03/2018

The staff was great and very accommodating. The guest rooms could use some help. I know they say there were recently remodeled, but I am not sure what they did, furniture was stained, mattress was very saggy, bathroom was from the early 90's. Housekeeping was good at their job, and the front desk staff and management very much focused on the guest. "Resort" is a swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis court. There is a golf course with restaurant on site. Service at restaurant was inconsistent. Some times attentive other times could not find anyone.

"Quiet Simple Comfortable Stay"

4
drsped, Houston, Texas 18/03/2018

The resort is a series of hotels with pools, tennis courts, and golf. The room was comfortable, had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee, and two bottles of water. The internet is included and you don't need a password. However, it does go down at times and when it does, the credit card machines don't work either. In a four night stay, the internet went out twice - once was several hours and the other time was brief (20 minutes). There is no room service and places nearby close around 7-9 so be prepared to eat early. People were friendly all around.

"Nice rooms, but...."

3
BH51, Loveland, Colorado 13/03/2018

We often stay in Best Westerns as the quality is very consistent. This is a nice hotel, with comfortable, spacious rooms. They were able to accommodate us on the ground floor, which was appreciated. But...we drove past the hotel several times, because there is no sign outside identifying it as Best Western. Unlike most BWs we've stayed in, there is no complimentary breakfast - you must go to the restaurant and order a la carte (and pay). Our first morning (we stayed 2 nights), the housekeeper knocked before we were ready to go out. We said we'd be out shortly, however, when we returned in late afternoon, the room had not been serviced. We had to ask for coffee and cups to replace those already used. Not a good experience. And to top it off, we were overcharged versus the rate quoted when we booked (the overcharge was corrected quickly, but this should not have happened). The restaurant (across the street) is excellent (a separate review of the restaurant will be provided).

1Slim_Shady1, San Diego, California 26/02/2018

Overall we had a very good one night stay at this place. I think it is a bit overpriced for what it is, considering that you can get much better room for that price in San Diego or any of the coastal cities. The staff try very hard and are so pleasant and accommodating that they make up for it. They offer free mountain bike rentals which was great for us to just ride around the estate.

The room (at the back) was quiet and utterly comfortable. The mattress was wonderfully firm. Goldilocks would say it was "just right." The staff was friendly and accommodating. "Nice for a relaxing weekend"

4
Barbara C, Torrance, United States 10/02/2018

Enjoyed a relaxing weekend exploring the local geology. Hotel was a pleasant place to hang out & have a nap between forays. Internet was good, though not secured with a password. Room had a/c and a fan which allowed for assorted levels of cooling & airflow. Housekeeping got confused when we said we were not ready for them to do the room at 10am; they never came back later that day. We had 3 people in the room, but there were only towels for 2.

"Great stay"

4
Karren K, West Yellowstone, Montana 19/01/2018

We stayed here 3 nights because my husband wanted to golf-he really likes their course. I just wanted to enjoy the warm weather-70-80 degrees in December is so special for a Montana girl?? and her dog. I'm not crazy about hotels-they tend to be noisy and not meticulously clean, especially when you have a pet friendly room. I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was very quiet-they must have good insulation. And yes-it was meticulously clean. No unpleasant smells, stains, etc. Bedding was perfectly clean & comfy. Carpet & bathroom were spotless, even in the corners & floor trim. Best of all-the rooms have a balcony with a small table & 2 chairs so that one can sit out side and feel the warm sun. It was so enjoyable. Then we left to rent an Airbnb house for a week. That was not very clean or pleasant-really wished we had chosen to stay at the hotel instead.

"decent accommodations"

3
206dvr, San Carlos, California 11/01/2018

It's a Best Western. Clean. Reasonable room and rates. Lots of families and lots of turnover every day. It's fine if you don't plan on spending much time in the room and aren't looking for a quiet adult spa-type experience. The rooms are dark and the pool and hot tub become crowded and noisy from about 4 p.m. through the evening. Over the course of 3 nights, we didn't make it into the hot tub once. The pool at spa is beautiful, but not heated, so too cool for our December visit. The loaner bikes need maintenance and then are just serviceable enough to get you to town and back.

TonycBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. We welcome all feedback and are sorry to hear your stay was not up to par. Although our peak season weekends are typically busy, it is rare for our property to be that rowdy but we do occasionally do have those days. We hope you give us a chance to redeem ourselves and enjoy a quiet stay in the future.

"A Shining Star at Borrego Springs"

5
juanjuanl2017, Los Angeles, United States 26/12/2017

The Best Western Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, is located to the southeast of the town of Borrego Springs, about 10 minutes' drive to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center. Since there isn't any top-tier-brand hotel or resort like Hilton, Hyatt or Marriott around this tranquil desert basin, the Borrego Springs Resort is certainly the best you can find. Though the residential area is not large, compared to the huge country club golf course beside it, the room is in delicate order and condition. I'm sure you won't expect state-of-art decor and hardware in a BW property, but they are more than comfortable here, especially in this scarcely populated region. The most remarkable highlight is the Arches Restaurant, which directly faces the golf course with a fountain pond and has a breath-taking 180-degree view of the high mountains of Anza-Borrego. I shall never forget the breakfast while enjoying the scenery of the amazing sunrise coloring the mountains afar. In addition, taking a short walk around the golf course after sunset and looking up into the clear star-dotted sky is another thrilling experience at the resort. I also need to mention the friendly and helpful staff on the property. The lady checked in my husband and me is named Veronica. She not only upgraded our room to a second-floor suite, but also gave us a considerate orientation of the whole property and its amenities. There was another gentleman with Veronica at the moment, whose name pin I didn't see clearly. He later prepared a bag of welcome gifts to us in addition to the alternative 500 rewards points. We really appreciate their generosity. In terms of other aspects of operating hotels and resorts, you can always give a thumb up to the Borrego Springs Resort. By the way, the nightly room rate is not scary at all, given such high-quality accommodation and service. In a word, I strongly recommend this property to those who decides to explore the natural wonders of Anza-Borrego, Southern California.

We enjoyed our stay at Borrego Springs Reort. Check in was quick and wasy. Our room was large, with its own patio. The room came equipped with a mini fridge, 2 bottles of water, and coffee and tea. Recently purchased property, went through some upgrades in the off-season. Rooms are comfortable and have all the expected items. Check in was friendly and efficient. Small patio, allowed us to enjoy the beautiful sunset and sunrise. Had breakfast at the resort restaurant, good food and solid price. Service was better then prior experiences. Golf course was in best shape seen in last 5+ years. Good rates, and no issues with pace of play. Well worth a visit to the Anza Borrego desert

"Beautiful property with failings"

3
Mike082, London, United Kingdom 28/11/2017

asani, safe,Noisy fan, mealtimes, breakfast service & menu, room unmade This is a beautiful property. The landscaped grounds, golfcourse, and palm trees in the middle of the desert, combine to make it appear picture perfect. Unfortunately there were several failings while were there, that spoilt our experience. We found the water from the faucet in the room tasted bad. It was only later that a member of staff told us we should not drink it, and that is why they put two free bottles of water a day in the refrigerator. One day we went out and returned at 3pm, only to find our room not made up, and no maid in sight. The extractor fan in our bathroom made an unpleasant very loud noise. We asked that it be fixed, but it wasn't. There wasn't a safe in the room, as in most hotels. Lastly the wait time for our breakfast was far too long. All of which prove the old saying which says that 'looks aren't everything'.

We stayed here mid september and it was apparently low season because it was really quiet. We loved it! The day we arrived we had the pool completely for ourselves. Check in was efficient and staff very friendly. We had a room on the second floor with a spacious balcony. The room was huge! With a seating area a table and a small kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The decor a bit outdated. The surroundings of the resort are desert with a lot of palms. Really beautifull. We expected the internet to be slow in the middle of the desert, but we were surprised! It was really fast! Would love to stay here again!

I wish more Best Western hotels were as nice as this one. Wow. Such a nice setting. Check in was easy and the front desk person was nice. I was upgraded to an executive suite and it was nice. Had 2 rooms. A wet bar area. 2 TV's and a balcony. Enjoyed the bathrobes. Bathroom was of decent size and nice. Bedroom had dual closets. Pool and hot tub were both nice and clean. Property is so quiet and such an awesome night time view. My friend and I had a great relaxed time and we are talking about coming again.

Came here at the last minute at the end of a road trip, to break up the drive home. It is low season right now, so a good room on a Saturday night was no problem. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and swiftly checked in. We had our dog, which was no problem for them. The rooms are quite large with a coffee maker, wet bar with fridge. Free wifi is decent and easy to use. We had a decent dinner in a lovely setting on the patio overlooking the golf course. It is a very pretty setting at night, with lots of stars. We wish we could have stayed longer. It is an exceptional value at this time of year.

The Borrego Hotel and Spa is indeed an Oasis in the desert. If you're in the Salton Sea area it's only 25 miles to the West and it's worth the drive. Located in the Anza-Borrego Desert (about 2 hours from San Diego) the resort sits at the base of the mountains in Borrego Springs. They offer first-class amenities and the staff is ready and willing to make your stay pleasurable and comfortable. The rooms are very clean and the grounds are immaculate.

beachlovers4, San Diego 13/09/2017

We were looking for a quick getaway near home. We pass thru Borrego Springs often on our motorcycles but other than a quick lunch that's it. There really is not a lot to do in Borrego other than hike or camp or golf and that was fine with us. We were basically looking for a reasonably priced hotel with a heated pool and a balcony and we were extremely satisfied. Beware for those of you that want to walk into town, this is about five+ miles from town. There is a restaurant and bar on site, The Arches, that is excellent, it is moderately priced but great food and service! Also a golf course, tennis courts and spa on site. Ray greeted us at check in, very nice guy! The rooms have been recently, partially renovated and were nice. Ours had a mini bar with a sink, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and cupboards to store your snacks, etc. Housekeeping did an excellent job of cleaning daily. The pool is quite large with tons of lounge chairs and 4-5 table and chair sets. It was heated, probably 80-85, perfect and there was a jacuzzi as well in a fenced in area. They also have bikes to use while there. All in all, this fit the bill for what we needed and everyone was very nice and friendly. We decided this will be a late summer tradition.

End of summer weekend visit. Stayed at a different resort while in town last year and this one did not impress us as much. Grounds well taken care of but our room was a bit dated. Odd smell in the hallway like old wine. Pool was small and packed, not sure if there is another on the grounds. They ran out of towels while we were there. Booked through third party and was looking forward to hitting some golf balls at the range. However, was informed at reception that all golfing activities are shut down for summer (bummer). Gym is really small and doesn't have a lot of equipment. Kids were running around in gym when I went. Bright spot is that staff are friendly. Truth is, the place just doesn't have a resort feel. Do your homework, there are better resorts in the area for a nominal additional cost.

Our Hotel was very welcoming and Friendly! Although the temp outside was overbearing(105 upon arrival @ 6:00 p.m.!) the rooms were already cool and comfortable. We had our own patio and the King bed was very comfortable! The restaurant in town, Kendall's was top notch for breakfast! The owner even turned OFF the back outside Parking lot lights, so we could view the Perseid Meteror showers close to our room! EXCITING!

Thank you for your excellent review. We're happy to hear you enjoyed the meteor shower at our property. Be on the look-out for our star packages in season, we turn off our property lights for the evening and schedule a great program with food!!

The room we had was fine with a desert view--clean and convenient. Anza Borrego is the darkest place in California, so it's a great place to see the stars. In the heat of the summer the hotel was cool inside and has a nice pool. The golf course is a nice place to walk on a hot summer nice with the sprinklers going.

Thank you for your kind review. We're so glad you enjoyed stargazing in the Anza-Borrego Desert and your stay at our resort. We look forward to having you with us again.

Husband had heart surgery on 12/26/16 & I participated in his 24 hr care 14 days in hospital & for the last 7 months at home. I needed a break! I wanted a luxurious room with a day full of quality Spa experiences, a gym and a swimming pool. I found them at BSR&S. Check in was friendly & efficient, room was stylish, comfy & clean with all the amenities & a modern bath, Free WiFi, table for my laptop, sofa for lounging, patio for morning coffee, Fridge, TV, A/C, Featherbed, lots of pillows, The Arches dinner was delicious, although pricey, gym was convenient with working machines & fresh towels. Spa gals were fantastic & the Deep Tissue Massage/Mani/Pedi were the very best anywhere. Spa facility & amenities were clean & luxurious. Proximity to town center was easy to explore stores & restaurants. Great solo or couples getaway off season. Surroundings beautiful. Reminds me of my family vacay home in La Quinta when I was a kid - priceless memories.

Highly recommended if you ever visit Borrego Springs. The room is spacious, free wi-fi, there's a round table and chairs, there's a small couch, HD flat screen TB, coffee maker, microwave, and a fridge with 2 bottles of water - complimentary. The only thing falls short is the water pressure of the shower, it's kind of slow.

I recently had the opportunity with my partner to visit the lovely Borrego Springs Resort. Booking process online was very user friendly and we got a phenomenal rate of $99 for one night (Sunday). Upon arrival at the resort we were warmly welcomed by Anthony the Assistant General Manager. Check-in was painless and very informative. Kudos to the guy's on reception that day as they were very good at explaining the resort and also some local information regarding what to do and see during our all too brief one night stay (Sun 11th of June). Our bedroom Suite was a great size with all of the amenities we needed and also very clean, perfectly located by the swimming pool and hot tub and within short walking distance of the resort facilities such as restaurant & bar & golf course etc. I even managed to get out onto the golf course and hit some balls the following morning before we checked out. Golf course was in great shape especially considering it was coming to the end of the golf season. Golf shop manager was very helpful. Don't worry if you have not brought clubs with you even if you want to hit some balls on the range as they will supply you with the equipment on site should you require it. The surroundings of the course itself set in the Anza - Borrego Sate Park are truly spectacular, but do watch out for the extreme sunshine and drink lots of water!!!! Service in the bar was top notch and my partner and I chose to eat lunch on the terrace outside overlooking the course. The food was excellent, served in a timely manner and reasonably priced for a resort. Upon checkout which is normally 12 noon we were granted a late checkout as the resort was not full due to it being a Sunday/Monday stop over. I realize that late checkouts can only be granted upon request depending on the overall levels of business so both my partner and I were very grateful to have been accommodated this time around. Great job by the young lady who was working on reception that Monday morning as this was no trouble at all. Both my partner and I are industry professionals working in Hospitality Management in both the US & Tanzania, Africa we both understand the pressures of delivering great service. So we tip our cap and say a big thank you to everyone who made our stay as brief as it was very enjoyable, keep up the great work! Hopefully we will be back in the future as I'd love to play some more golf!!!

"A worthwhile trip"

Daniel S, San Diego, California 09/06/2017

Borrego is beautiful, especially in the spring and before it gets too hot. I can see why it's called the poor man's Palm Springs in that amenities are basic and not exceptional, if not a bit tired. But the trip there for a few days is still worthwhile and the Borrego Springs Resort (while hardly a "resort"), is spacious and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Borrego Springs Resort and Golf Club was a spectacular venue for six good friends to enjoy a mini golf tournament among ourselves. The jacuzzi was great for relaxing after a long day drive and golf and then a very nice dinner at the Coyote Steak House - also highly recommended! and reviewed here on Trip Advisor by me.

"Nice, quiet spot for our wedding anniversary"

4
Thomas E, Indio, California 12/05/2017

My wife and I spent three days here celebrating our anniversary. I have to say as a disclaimer that during the high season, it is likely a very different experience. We nearly had the place to ourselves which frankly we loved. We played golf on their well-maintained and enjoyable golf course (appropriate for intermediate players like us). Our room was comfortable with a view of one of the pool areas, but my one negative comment was that the air conditioner in the room was incredibly loud - not great for a light sleeper. Borrego Springs is a bit out of the way, and is probably better known by outdoorsy, camping and hiking types. We loved the amenities of this resort, though. Had we had more time, we would have made use of the tennis courts as well.

Jerry the bartender is the best in Borrego. He is such a hard worker and he cares so much about his clients. We stopped by just because of him. Last time we were out he was top notch and so we had to make the visit. The owners are very lucky to have him. He takes care of everyone Luke they are VIPs.

We are back in our favorite 'go to' vaca spot in Borrego Springs! This hotel, spa, restaurant and bar never fails to disappoint! Super comfortable rooms with pillow soft beds, two great pool areas, and lots to do. We have been coming to Borrego Springs Resort and Spa since they opened in the late eighties. We love the staff and the convenience of having the award winning golf course across the street. Highly recommend to stay here the next time you visit Borrego!

Family and I stayed here last week with great service from front desk service to comfortable beds and fast WiFi. The pool was a great spot to relax and enjoy the warm weather and be able to jump in the cool pool water. Family will come back and we shall stay longer to get away for a bit. "Serenity Spa was the highlight of our weekend"

5
jaeladler, Seal Beach, California 04/05/2017

We stayed at the Borrego Springs Resort at the recommendation of friends who raved about your place. We love spending time in the desert, and we were pleased about the Resort's proximity to Anzo Borrego. But the highlight of our trip was an afternoon spent at the Serenity Spa. My wife really enjoyed the facial and the body scrub while I loved getting a fantastic massage. I think the massage therapist's name was Cindy - she was great! Afterwards, both my wife and I enjoyed a dip in the pool. Great experience! We've already told all of our friends here at Leisure World about the Resort. We'll certainly be back!

We were fortunate to visit Borrego Springs during the beautiful wildflower season this year. This resort added to our enjoyment with it beauty, service and good food. We did not golf there but it looked like a beautiful course. Besides the flowers we loved seeing all the interesting metal sculptures scattered around the valley.

"Great place for two nights"

KM4321, San Diego, California 26/04/2017

We stayed at Hotel El Zorro for two nights Easter weekend. The resort is very nice and the room (we were in a two bedroom casita) was expensive (over $600/nightly), yet it was a fun experience. The desert was great for two nights. During the day we went on a jeep tour and swam in the pool, we had our own pool, which was great. At night we went star gazing and out to the local restaurants. We went to the restaurant in the resort for drinks and appetizers, really enjoyed the food and the live music. All in all, a pleasant trip, the room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the coffee maker and fridge in the room. A nice trip out to the desert, I think we had done it all in the three days/ two nights that we were there.

"Taller shower fixtures!"

5
User 21/04/2017

Back for first time since Nov 2016. Noticed immediately that the shower fixtures were taller than last time and I didn't have to stoop while showering. Nice touch. Water pressure wasn't good, but might have been time of day or due to conservation efforts. Pool towels in lobby are appreciated.

Our team thanks you for your excellent review and we appreciate the feedback. The aerator's have been pointed out and will be replaced soon. We hope to have you back soon.

"Decent Hotel, But Not A Resort"

3
Jody D, Laguna Hills, California 12/04/2017

This hotel is a comfortable hotel, but it's definitely not a resort and the $12 a night additional resort fee is silly. The rooms were clean, but basic and the pool was smallish and plain. The spa was small and didn't appear very clean. In all, it was a good base camp to hiking in Anza Borrego, but it was rather expensive for what you get from the hotel.

TonycBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. We definitely welcome feedback from our guests to improve everybody's experience. We hope you took advantage of our amenities included in resort fee like our free bicycle rentals, bucket of balls and aroma therapy at our spa as well. We will be going through our next phase of remodeling this summer so please come back and stay with us again.

"Not quite "resort""

4
User 10/04/2017

Here with some friends to check out the desert wildflowers and play a little golf. I have no complaints except I think the title resort isn't quite apt. The golf was great and the food was not bad at all. I would recommend as long as you aren't expecting too much in the resort itself.

TonycBSR, Manager at Borrego Springs Resort & Golf Club, BW Premier Collection, responded to this review
We appreciate your review. We will be revamping our restaurant and rooms this summer so we hope to have you again to have an excellent next stay.

"Ok rooms and amenities. Restaurant TERRIBLE"

2
User 25/11/2016

Title says it all. It's ok for sleeping and showering. That's about it. Restaurant is one of the worst things I have ever stepped foot into. If you choose to stay here, it is absolutely necessary to eat in town, NOT in the resort. Idiotic, half-brained staff leads to 45 to 60 minute wait times for salads and appetizers. It would appear that Borrego Springs Resort and Spa is the premier employer of the mentally handicapped in Borrego Springs.

"Quick visit"

4
Brian T, Alameda, California 24/11/2016

Hotel is nice. Quiet. Free bike rentals for quests. In the early morning we went for a bike ride and saw a coyote. Lots of wildlife around the hotel. Spa was very nice and peaceful. They were very nice to us even though we were late

"Realy just a motel not a resort"

3
mike f, poway 09/11/2016

Bed was a little too soft. Décor is a little outdated - wallpaper etc. Although there was new carpet in the hallways which showed nice. They call themselves a resort but really it is just a regular hotel room with a very basic pool area. Way too expensive for what you get and the staff could have been a little more friendly. Nice size room. Liked the little bar/sink/microwave area. Very convenient. Air conditioning worked great and there was always coffee in the lobby for the guests.

"Date night "

5
User 17/10/2016

We were staying at a nearby resort and decided to have a romantic date night dinner here. Great service, awesome fried chicken, and fun karaoke! We'll definitely come back. Might even consider buying a home on the golf course.

"Weekend stay "

3
User 15/10/2016

The resort rooms and hotel staff was great , the arches restaurant however was very disappointing. The service was extremely slow. We thought everyone can have an off day, but no better on day 2. when our meal did arrive it was burnt. They served it anyways. We had to ask for new plates, not what I would have expected from a resort of this caliber I would recommend the hotel, but find somewhere else to eat

"Pleasant stay, good value, recommend"

4
Journeygirl2013, Los Angeles, California 28/09/2016

My husband and I stayed here when we were visiting Julian for apple picking last weekend. It was a bit further away from Julian than expected, and pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the resort. The facility is very clean. Everyone working there was extremely friendly. The golf course and tennis courts looked great. Our room was big with comfy bedding and had a nice patio. One suggestion would be to have better lounge furniture on the patios. Wrought iron bistro sets look cute but are hot and uncomfortable in the desert heat. We visited the pool later in the day when it had cooled down. The pool did not seem to be heated, and was a bit on the chilly side, which wouldn't have been a problem at 2pm but was at 5pm. We ate at the restaurant, which we were surprised was so busy. Nothing too special culinary-wise, but we did manage to get our appetizers, entrees and a bottle of wine for $100. The resort also offers discounts to military families, which is a nice bonus. I would not hesitate to return - with our golf clubs - next time we're in the area.
