We absolutely loved our stay here. We were greeted by the friendly Roberto at reception who was very helpful. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was beautifully displayed with a variety of food to choose from. The hotel was positioned close to all the action. We loved our stay here
The Parkhotel Laurin in Bolzano, Italy is a true gem, brimming with old-world charm and elegance. My spacious room was adorned with unique, original artwork, each piece accompanied by a thoughtful description that added a personal touch to the experience. Dinner under a large tent in the lush garden behind the hotel was memorable, with every dish impressing. Breakfast was equally delightful, with options to enjoy your meal in the dining room or out on the front porch. A made-to-order menu plus a generous buffet created the perfect start to the day. All in all, Parkhotel Laurin is a wonderful experience, blending its long history (it was founded in 1910) with warm hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of a bike trip. The decor of the hotel is somewhat dated, but the rooms are very comfortable. We had a superior room with a double bed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was very quiet. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. There's a fabulous bar in the hotel that's a great place to relax. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Balzano.
This is a very good hotel, ‘old-school' in the best possible way - tablecloths at breakfast, monogrammed crockery, an upholstered bench seat in the lift. It didn't take half an hour to work how to turn out all the lights in the room, just a single switch beside the bed. Seemingly unlimited proper coffees at breakfast was a sumptuous gesture by modern standards. The hard-working and personable staff understood whichever language you attempted. Vardym on reception took the time to explain the origins of the name Laurin. The expansive and shaded garden was a welcome retreat from the August heat and crowds in Bolzano - it was difficult to leave it when you could have an Italian waiter glide over and deliver a martini. A few invariably well-behaved European children, and the odd pet dog, just added to the charming scene. The history and personality of this hotel and its staff shone through in every detail, and it was a good reminder how bland the chain hotels can be by comparison, even the top ones. This style of family-owned hotel is all too rare. What an asset to Bolzano, I loved it.
We loved the Parkhotel Laurin, The staff was delightful and was so nice to get fans for us when it was a bit warm sadly for us Americans. The breakfast is a 10 out of 10, do not miss it. Rooms are lovely and location is great. Ausgezeichnet! Would stay here again. Danke/Grazie
We recently spent some time at the Park Laurin hotel. Pros: * upon check in we were given a room upgrade without us asking for it. It was a very comfortable room. * the staff throughout the hotel is just excellent. Every interaction we had with them was pleasant. The front desk staff is incredible. * the breakfast brunch was one of the best I've ever seen. * the location of the hotel is excellent in regards to the town. * the parking lot for the hotel is directly across the street from the hotel. Cons: * it is paid parking, which they do specify on their website. I will also note that the parking spaces are very narrow. * the air conditioning in the room isn't very robust. At the lowest setting you will not be sleeping in a chilly room. It was cool enough but just barely. * in the bathroom they do not offer shampoo and conditioner, instead they offer a product that advertises itself as an all in one: body and hair; to me this is kind of gross. I asked a room cleaner about this and she said that was all that they had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I love this elegant hotel -- the room was so pretty and comfortable. The beds were great. The restaurant served one of the best meals we had in our three week trip to Europe. The people at the front desk were helpful. I can't wait to come back!!!!
The Laurin is a charming old "Grande Dame" hotel in the absolute city center of Bozen, reachable by car (with outside parking area right in front), with a beautiful garden, a nice breakfast terrace, and a relaxed pool and outside bar, providing an oasis of relaxation. I particularly liked the cigar lounge. My room was big and well equipped. The general manager is excellent, always checking every detail, and very helpful in case of a special request (in my case, a button to be sewn on a club blazer, outside the normal working hours). The service is very good troughout the hotel. I really enjoyed my stay at the Laurin!
We knew the parking for the Hotel was across the road and has its own separate entrance at the Parking Lot but you can't access it unless you get a ticket from Reception on arrival. So you need to drive up to the Hotel Parking boom gate, then the passenger needs to go to Reception and requests a ticket - cost 20E's per day, which we thought was reasonable given that you will always get a parking spot. Apart from the very friendly young man that checked us in we found all the staff on Reception efficient but unsmiling. Our room had air conditioning, had a lovely view over the town and mountains and a quirky set of metal stairs leading to a private suspended balcony with a table and chairs on the rooftop - Suite Room 522. The bed was comfortable with extra pillows, and bathrobes in the wardrobe. The garden is delightful and very serene with a lovely pool area, an outdoor bar and restaurant. The location is excellent just a couple of minutes to the main square. Breakfast is also excellent, the usual European fare with eggs to be put in the boiler, but on our second morning we were offered an omelette. Staff in the breakfast area couldn't have been nicer and more thoughtful, we asked for cappuccinos and there was no extra cost. I would have given the Hotel 5 Stars if the Reception staff were friendlier.
Reception area looks uninviting and check in was not warm. Once we got beyond those hurdles we found the room well appointed and in great shape and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and served in a gorgeous dining room. We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant. It is an excellent restaurant and would definitely eat there again. The bar was a highlight for us because the room is spectacularly beautiful, service very good and drinks superb. I will stay here again and highly recommend it.
The hotel is located exactly in the center, 2 mins walking, the breakfast is great a lot of choices however I gave the hotel 2/5 because first of all, it was written that the hotel is with air conditioning but when I reached I was shocked that there is no air conditioning and when I asked for the fan they told me that they don't have but Patrick the manager gave me a fan. The second annoying point is the disturbing part, I had to wake up every morning at 7 because the housekeeping keep banging the doors and cupboards when cleaning as if they are in purpose doing this behavior so we can wake up and they can clean early and have the full day without work. Also, the car parking is very expensive 21 euros per day. Moreover, I found 2 insects in 2 different days and when I informed the receptionist they told me that it's normal because we are in village Overall, the only plus in the hotel is the location and breakfast, other than that it doesn't worth.
The Hotel is older but appeared to be well maintained. We had a superior double room which was spacious by European standards. Breakfast was very good. I thought the hotel was overpriced compared to similar hotels that I stayed in during this trip, which was why I didn't give the hotel a 5.
Probably the best hotel in Bolzano, has old school charm with modern customer service. Well furnished rooms with a lovely feel along with a personal pillow service. The bar serves good regional beers and wine and according to my wife and friend The Best hot chocolate drink they've ever had. Great choice for breakfast For those travelling by train, hotel is a two minute walk away.
The Parkhotel Laurin is a very short walk from the train station. It's an old hotel which comes with some good and some not as good. The room was surprisingly large with a nice view. The room had a bed (two twins pushed together), couch, table, and desk and chair. I'm not a fan of carpet and this was fully carpeted. There are not many plugs available on the room and the plugs don't seem to be the standard European plug. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was good sized but the door opens somewhat into the toilet. The shower is a high tub with the half glass wall. Good water pressure. The hotel is right by a Christmas market and a short walk to many restaurants and shopping. Also a short walk to the river. The team at the hotel was nice and tried to help with the strange limit on devices on their Wi-Fi. First time I've run into a device limit and not ideal. The bar was festive and quite popular. The breakfast (included) was quite good. Delicious yogurt and fruit options. And a tasty cappuccino.
This hotel exceeded expectations! I stayed for one night while waiting for some friends to arrive. The location could not be more convenient. The single room is big and comfortable and the free hotel breakfast was a standout, serving both freshly cooked food and a good buffet spread. The reception staff were also super friendly and helpful. I ended up spending some time at the bar which is beautiful and with a great selection of food and drinks. Highly recommended.
We arrived with high expectations which were immediately deflated by an indifferent front desk receptionist. No greeting, our room was not ready - which we understood. However, no info as to when room would be ready. No walking map offered, no graciousness. Front lobby a dirty mess. Baggage area unattended and unsecured. Lobby bathroom was filthy. TP and water all over the floor and wastebasket overflowing.
To start with the location of the hotel is great right between the train station and old town, about three minutes walk from each. It is definitely one of the best hotels in town offering a rather luxurious stay but the best part are the works of art in each room and all around the hotel. Guests receive information at check-in about the pieces of art in their room. The single rooms are not big but well equipped and most come with balconies offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The staff were also great in providing very precise hiking tips. The hotel has its own park with a swimming pool, bar and restaurant and lovely concerts on balmy summer evenings. And as befits a hotel of this caliber, there is champagne served at the breakfast buffet. One can definitely find cheaper accomodation in Bolzano but the Laurin is worth the rare splash of luxury.
The hotel is very nice. It is a classical hotel and has a wonderful restaurant, bar and pool area. The rooms are clean and conformable. Parking is easy just opposite the hotel and the hotel is located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. We had a great stay and will surely come here again when we go to Italy.
This was one of the most pleasant stays in a hotel I ever had. Such a tastefully decorated room! We got an upgrade and had a room with ante-chambre and paintings from the hotel's art collection. Excellent service & a wonderful breakfast with options for every palate. Very nice bars & garden too. Will definitely come back.
Nice hotel, comfortable room and friendly staff. The location is excellent. Even though they have only a few spaces in the garage for parking, at least for us that we used one, it was very convenient.
The good: Location is very central, rooms and public spaces are in funny 50s design, dinner food is very good, and it has its own park & it's own character The mediocre: in the breakfast rooms everything is stuffed very, very tightly - the buffet, the tables, the chairs, the waiters and the guests. Such a huge building, but the most important meal of the day is in a quite stressful, stuffed area! And the pool in the nice park is not swimmable because its only ca. 10 meters long, but there is enough space to build a proper 20m-swimming pool. The bad: Do not arrive by car - you will be not welcomed, you are not allowed to park in front of the hotel for even 5 mins, and no one comes to help you with the luggage. If you are very, very lucky and if you have a very small car, you could get a parking spot on the hotel parking lot on the opposite of the street, but probably not, since the parking lot is also open for anyone who wants to go shopping or dining in the city center. Why doesn't the hotel make it exclusive for guests? Check-in staff was not welcoming at all too, not helping us with the car, with the luggage, with orientation, and not fulfilling our booking-wish for a quite room... The ugly: We were nice guests and booked a spacious deluxe room directly through the hotel instead of using expedia, asking in writing for "high floor and quite room". What we got was a room on the lowest guest floor, and we were waken up at 6:30 in the morning by loud delivery noises lasting till 7:30, since the room faced both hotel delivery and the city pedestrian zone, which is cleaned and serviced that early. Sadly, the windows are not sound-proof. Conclusion: if management takes consequent focus on the guest and makes some tough changes (better staff choice & training, renovation of guest rooms including simple things like charging sockets next to the bed, allowing parking lot only for hotel guests, sound-proofing the windows, building a real swimming pool, drastically improvement of breakfast situation), the Laurin could even be a 5 star hotel! But it would need the courage of change...
The room we got was not as described and booked. We booked a deluxe room with a view of either the park or the mountains (Dolomiti). Our room was on the first floor facing the public parking lot. The staff confirmed that rooms with view on the mountains would be on the 3rd and higher floors. When we complained we were neither offered another room nor were we offered a compensation for the inferior room. When you arrive by car during busy times be prepared for a nightmare. There's a public parking lot in front of the hotel with no reserved spaces for hotel guests. When we arrived there was a long queue of cars waiting to get a space in the parking lot. There is no unloading zone in front of the hotel. We had to temporarily park on the sidewalk in front of the hotel to unload luggage. When I got back to the car we were fined for illegal parking.
This was a repeat stay for us in this fine old hotel. Mintues (on foot) from both the railway station and the centre of town, it is in a great location. Great bar (inside and by the pool), great restaurant (not cheap) outside in the shaded garden at this time of year - appears to be genuinely one of the best in town (rarely the case with hotel restaurants) and, along with the bar, frequented by locals as well as guests.
First off, make sure you book the correct number of guests. I accidentally put down one, which resulted in a pretty big upgrade on check-in. Anyway, my fault. The room was large, but worn out. The carpet is actually borderline disgusting. It's in bad need of replacement. Everything is a bit worn, though the bathroom was OK and relatively clean. Bed, not particularly comfortable. Location is walkable to the old city, which is good, and the parking lot is adequate, if not slightly tight. Was most disappointed in the age and condition of room for such a pricey stay. Definitely in need of some renovation.
We were on a tour in Northern Italy and stayed in this interesting town and this very pleasant hotel. The hotel is in a good central location. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet has lots of delicious, fresh options. The rooms are clean and comfortable with good storage space.
We had a 2night stop over here to explore this beautiful town, the hotel is amazing from you walk through the doors, staff very pleasant and helpful the rooms were of a good size( we had the standard room) and spotless, we breakfast out in the front of the hotel in the sunshine rear of hotel has nice gardens an outdoor bar and restaurant and a nice pool didn't really want leave but giving the chance we will return..
This well-maintained hotel is absolutely charming! The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. A bit old fashioned in a classy, elegant, and beautiful way. The mature, lush garden is a piece of paradise and offers respite especially if one is traveling for work. The staff are all nice and very helpful.
I give this hotel and its staff the highest possible rating in all categories. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights initially, in July 2022. The location is ideal--a short, tree-lined block from the train station. The property itself is elegant. The rooms are immaculate, with marble baths, large windows which open, excellent views and comfortable beds. (This became very important because of my unique circumstance described below.) The breakfast, included in the price of the room, was a sumptuous buffet of breads, pastries, sliced meats, poached eggs, yogurt, cheeses, fresh fruit and muesli. If one desires something not on the buffet such as scrambled eggs, the kitchen will serve it up in minutes. Room service delivers food on time and in ample quantities, beautifully presented. The price is very reasonable for the location, amenities and service. But the best feature of the Hotel is the staff. We came to Bolzano to participate in a hiking tour of the Dolomites. I became ill the day after our arrival, and the day we were to check out for the hiking tour. I tested positive for Covid and therefore was required to isolate for at least 7 days. (In Italy, one must isolate until they test negative.) This was the height of the summer season and rooms were scarce. Without prior notice to the staff, and with no reservation, they graciously allowed me to stay in our third floor hotel room for an additional 6 nights. They even gave my husband (who was asymptomatic and Covid negative) a separate room for the night, as he made plans to return to the US. The staff was outstanding during the rest of my stay. As I was unable to leave my room or have any in-person contact, I was completely dependent on the hotel staff. I could not have scripted a better response to every request I made of the staff, whether food, trash bags, fresh towels/sheets, etc. Before leaving, my husband thanked one of the young desk clerks for being so pleasant and attentive. Her response, in near perfect English, captured the essence of my experience. "Covid will touch all of us", she said. "We are treating your wife like we would want to be treated." This could represent the best application of the "Golden Rule" that I have encountered. I strongly suggest you stay at the Park Hotel Laurin while in Bolzano. I hope to return one day myself, to enjoy the Hotel and the wonderful people of that city.
The staff was lovely especially the maids and the waitstaff. The air conditioning was virtually non existent and even tho it was an exceptionally warm time we were told that the AC could not go below 23 degrees which made the Room quite hot Everything was clean. But the hotel rooms looked a little worn out
if you look for a brilliant stay in a blooming green landscape inmidst vinyards, castles and snow-coverd mountain tops, try Bozen/Bolzano in may. Hotel Laurin, right next to the railway station, offers the perfect fin-de-sciecle ambiente for grandious holiday with style. great breakfast, pleasant garden with pool, opulent bar and restaurant. you will want to come again! M.A.
Stayed here for three nights in the beginning of June 2022. When I first arrived in Bolzano, one week prior to my check-in date at the Laurin, I needed a place to leave one piece of luggage, while I was trekking/climbing the Dolomite mountains. The staff at the Laurin was kind enough to keep my luggage in storage for 5 days before my stay at the hotel. My room was spacious and well lit by a charming bay window. Aging of the place shows up on the light switches, A/C controls, as well as the scarcity of power outlets to charge mobile devices in the room. Bathroom is clearly of newer construction/renovation and very nice. Breakfast is top notch, with a huge variety of breads, pastries, eggs, cold cuts, cheeses and beverages. On my last night the A/C unit in my room stopped working. The staff acted immediately and upgraded me to a suite to ensure that I had a restful last night at the Laurin. I will definetely stay here on my next visit to Bolzano.
Hotel was incredible. Friendly staff always available to help. The food was great. The pastries were to die for. Close to everything. The concierge arranged everything for us. Rooms were pretty big. Never wanted to leave!
We stayed over Christmas and enjoyed every moment. Our room was wonderful and even had a walk in closet, what an incredible feature to offer! Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast each morning and the coffee is superb. We had booked in to have Christmas dinner at the hotel and it did not disappoint. The menu was fantastic and the staff offered impeccable service. Location of the hotel is perfect to enjoy the beautiful town of Bolzano.
I got there around 9pm after a long day of work and about 3hrs driving. They gave me a better room (larger, with a great view) for free and a complimentary drink at the hotel bar. The bar, open until 1.00 am is cozy, classy, but not too formal. They have a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (and an amazing Keller version of Forst beer), and snacks available until they close, including sandwiches, desserts, etc. You can make a dinner out of those. Perhaps because I was alone, and it was Sunday night, but the price was incredibly low for the offer.
A great hotel in a great location. It is built in the style of the Centenary period, very well maintained and tastefully renovated rooms. The service - especially in the restaurant at breakfast - was a perfect imitation of the atmosphere of the period.
Although lacking of smiling staff, lacking of greeting customers, lacking of warm welcome signs this old fashion hotel offers a lot of charm. Particularly the bar, the garden, the restaurant, the location. I will certainly return.
I was at Parkhotel Laurin for two nights for my trip to Bolzano. The hotel is in a central position just before the pedestrian zone of the old town and has its own parking, with discounted prices for guests. Just a few minutes walk from the hotel lies the city center with Walther Square, the Poricoes, the Cathedral. My room was spatious and quiet with a view on the Cathedral bell tower and the mountains. Insulation from outside noise was good, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good, too. In the room there was a boiler but only tea was provided - no coffee. I asked for coffee at the reception, and they told me that the hotel owner doesn't like the idea of coffee in rooms, so none was available. I think this is frankly quite absurd, I do not like the idea of a hotel owner to decide what I can and cannot drink in the room I'm paying for. Breakfast was good, with enough choices. Bolzano is a very expensive city, and Parkhotel Laurin is no exception: you get good service, for a very high price.
