    « Love this place »

For me it's a real home from home now staying 3 days a week, in a great location with friendly staff and super clean and tidy throughout. This is my 4th week now and if I wasn't ecstatic with it I certainly wouldn't still be here. Great job everyone ????

« Excellent venue for a function with great staff and events organiser »

I booked this venue for my 50th party in March 2018. The Hotel reserved all the rooms for my function and gave us the run of the venue. The staff could not do enough to help and a special mention and thanks to Claire Draper (Events coordinator) who helped me with all the arrangements that I wanted and gave me advice on how to make the function the success that it was. The rooms are lovely, of a high standard, clean and modern. If you are looking for a venue for a function or a nice room overlooking the golf course I cannot recommend this venue and Claire highly enough. Thanks to all the staff.

« Excellent Hotel with Exceptional Staff »

We have been using the Best Western Magnolia Park Hotel for a couple of years to hold regular sales conferences. The rooms are always spotlessly clean, the staff are so helpful with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. The food is amazing and on testing out their new menu the past few days we can give it 10/10. Large car park and amazing views over the golf course there is nothing I can fault with this hotel. An added bonus for the girls in our company is that Bicester Shopping Outlet Village is only 10 minutes drive from the hotel where you may find a bargain or two! Ben Gaignierre who is General Manager, Matt Davies - Sales and Marketing Manager, Richard who manages the bar and restaurant and Daniel in the restaurant all deserve a special mention.

« Middle of anywhere, yet 1 hour from London....Needs more guests »

The Hotel has a grand sounding name, although to be honest it was being refurbished when I stayed and had a feeling of being in limbo. There were very few guests staying and this added to the feeling of The Shining, although without the scariness! My room was good, although there were tatty bits which let it down, the lighting in the room was either dim or super trouper bright, the Tv was good, although the wires were hanging down and the shower was good, yet the shower mixer has a bit missing. The Bar area doubled up as the Golf Club 19th hole, so the huge TV was about 3m up the wall, neck strain or you were so far away binoculars were in order. The beer was good, the food average. Its needs more guests to stay to give it atmosphere, although as ever the staff were good.

    « Amazing!! »

We held our wedding at Magnolia Park in September 2017, the venue is lovely, the staff super friendly and nothing was too much for them. The hotel rooms are a good size and extremely comfortable. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

« Two Night Stay for Business »

I booked this hotel as it was located near to where I was attending a two day course. My room was lovely and the superking size bed was just wonderful. The room was clean and tidy. I paid I believe £10 for each breakfast. To be honest the breakfast was ok but definately not worth £10. The fried eggs had been sat under the heat lamp for quite a while and the bacon was a little under cooked for me. Having said all that I would definately stay there again but would not purchase the breakfast.

    « lovely, welcoming hotel »

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and felt very welcomed and taken care of, all of the staff do their best to ensure that everything is taken care of and the rooms in the hotel are very accommodating. Overall I had a lovely experience

    « wedding 18th November. »

If you are looking for a venue that is caring, loving and beautiful, then this is the places for you. I had my wedding here on the 18th November 2017 and it was amazing. The venue itself was beautiful. The magnolia suite was beautifully laid out by the staff and Claire draper. The staff did there up most to make mine and my husband day as special as it could be. and thanks to all of the staff it really was. The food was out of this world!!! All my guests to this day still goes on about how amazing the food was. I couldn't thank the chefs enough. Claire draper the wedding coordinator was amazing she really did take care of everything for me and my husband all we had to do was show up on the day. Richard and Lesley who are bar mangers are both lovely amazing people they looked after us and are guest right until the very end of the night. I really couldn't ask for a better venue and stuff for what was amazing day. Thank you magnolia park for all you did for us.

    « Wedding 4th November 2017 »

I had my wedding here back in November, we had such a magical day. The venue is stunning and there are so many beautiful views for the perfect photograph. Claire (the wedding coordinator) was absolutely amazing, nothing in the planning was too much trouble, every little detail had been thought of from our red carpet arrival to the very comfy executive room. The bar staff were also fantastic, Lesley and Connie were very attentive and friendly. The food was also made to perfection. I am so pleased we found Magnolia Park.

« Comfortable accommodation but poor dining facilities... »

Reasonably spacious room with the usual amenities ; spacious and decent shower ! The dining room ended up being a bar/restaurant complete with Sports TV. Booths were fitted around the walls and tables within... It seemed that most tables were occupied by single business/tradesmen. Richard the Barman and Waiter was a real personality and added warmth and joviality. A pity therefore that the food was a bit of a letdown. The nachos - chillied beef - were tasty but the fish fingers were somewhat dry and the chips were overly greasy. Getting this aspect of the overall offering should be a priority that will better realise this hotel's potential...

Stayed here for a couple of days and it has been a lovely break. Both Alina and Richard were very nice and helpful.Rooms were clean and nice view looking over the golf course. Will definitely stay here again.

« New Year Gala and stay »

Our party of 8 were accommodated on the ?less scenic' side of the hotel as I don't believe we were given a choice on booking, however the rooms were comfy and fine (after a problem with drains was happily resolved by Richard who was very helpful and worked so hard all the time we were there. The excessive rain was causing problems it seemed). The Gala night was great, staff were all very friendly with Connie (& her lovely Mum) going the extra mile on many occasions. I don't think I have ever come across someone as pleasant and helpful as Connie working in the hotel industry- what a lovely person, she made sure that the dietary requirements within our group were brilliantly catered for. Hats off to the chefs and cooking staff as well.

    « New Year Celebration »

Spent New Years Eve here celebrating with 14 friends. We had a wonderful relaxed evening - nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, who worked so hard to provide a great service and the food was superb; probably the best we have sampled at a function like this - hats off to the chef and kitchen staff! The evening could have been a disaster for our party as we had been let down at the last minute by another hotel and trying to find another venue that could accommodate our requirements at such short notice was proving to be difficult .... until I spoke with Ben, the General Manager! He was able to offer us a new years eve package which included a 5 course menu and accommodation at the hotel - however, as all the rooms were booked at the Magnolia he arranged for us to be accommodated at nearby hotel with transport laid on to take us to and from the Magnolia at the end of the evening and back in the morning for breakfast. Can't thank Ben and his staff enough for providing us with a wonderful evening and we would certainly recommend this hotel!

    « New Year celebration! »

Wonderful place to celebrate new year. We are a party of twelve friends who love to party! Rooms are large and spacious. Rooms overlooking the golf course are a must. The food was extremely good - very talented chef. Service was excellent. All staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We even had our own dining room on the second night and again the meal was superb. We intend to revisit this year! Well done Magnolia Park.

« Great hotel stay, very comfy and great food »

Went for a party night and stayed over in the hotel. Staff were all lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Very welcoming in the pro shop and at reception. Played 9 holes of great golf and course was really good for winter time.. but quite difficult. Food was lovely, great size portions and well prepared and presented. Function staff were lovely. Hotel room was good size and very nice. Warm and comfortable and had a great sleep, with views across the golf course to wake up to. Perfeact cooked full English breakfast. Highly recommended!

    « Fab stay »

Had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly, the room was lovely and spacious and their toasties were amazing! We had a very comfortable stay and it was rather scenic too, would highly recommend.

« Lovely helpful staff, clean room, good food, value for money »

I came for a girls night away, and we had a lovely twin room with a good view. We had steak for dinner and the breakfast was also good. We git stuck there due to the snow and the staff were very helpful and nice about it! they didn't charge us for using the room for extra time. There was a party the night before and we had been considerably roomed well away from it which meant we weren't disturbed at all.

    « Great value stay »

Stayed here last night as I was in the area on business. Easy check in and up to room 38. First floor, far end looking right out over the golf course. Great room, spotless, had everything, bed a little uncomfortable as it was two singles joined but had a ?gap' so was a little uncomfortable. Room service was great and the breakfast next morning was excellent. For the money it was brilliant.

    5
    « Overnight stay »

Checked in late evening for an overnight stay. Check in was quick and rooms was obviously recently renovated as was decorated to a high standard very clean comfortable and well presented tea making facilities high quality toiletries and considering there was a function taking place we were not inconvenienced by it at all. Upon arrival there was a note on the check in desk apologising for any inconvenience whilst under renovation however this did not hinder us at all. A lovely hotel in a convenient place for visiting Bicester or oxford.

    « Beautiful Wedding Venue »

First time I had visited here, although lived in Oxfordshire for 14 years. The staff were very welcoming. The rooms are a little on the small side for £135 a night but had everything required. The bar area is lovely, with a nice aspect out onto the golf course. The wedding breakfast was very good and all seeemd to go very well.

    « Wedding »

Had my wedding here in September 2017- lovely venue especially when decorated. Claire Draper was our wedding planner and she was AMAZING - didn't let me stress and made sure everything was perfect for our special day! She is an asset to this venue!!! Thank you, Katy x

    « Wonderful wedding reception! »

We held our wedding reception here on a glorious September day with everything going to plan. The rural setting on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border provided a great backdrop for photos. The food surpassed our expectations and many of our guests commented on how well presented and plentiful was the wedding lunch. Claire Draper (Events Coordinator) was attentive throughout and really went that extra mile to ensure a very special day was enjoyed by all.

    « Non Playing Captain »

We were here for a family golf two day tour. My wife and I thought overall a very good value for money stay. Yes very good value. It is clear all is not quite right at The Park, and hard to put my finger on it. I think the golf club has sold out to Great Western, Who are in my view terrific, but the whole package is just not quite right yet. The course and the driving range need some experienced touches. The area outside the bar needs a cleaner to sweep up confetti from the previous weekend and the cigarette stubs from the previous day. We arrived and met a charming young man who was so helpful, however when we asked about the course he admitted, whilst a golfer had not been allowed on the course since he started two months previously. Come on DD, as the pro, more effort and training would be appreciated. Richard, looked after us in the bar very well and staff on reception, after his big huff!, were charming. You have a great venue, rooms that after snagging, will be good. You just need a manager who is visible. I only write to provide positive feedback and sincerely hope the venture is successful. We will definitely be back.

    « Fantastic Wedding Venue »

I could not have asked for more from this place, for they went above and beyond to make our wedding day everything we could have hoped for. We had our reception here and from the very beginning Matt and Claire were very accommodating to our needs and nothing was ever too much trouble. We were able to arrange meetings with Claire and she was always understanding and communicated everything perfectly which helped the running of the day go so smoothly. The main room has lots of character with a beautiful stone fireplace . The wedding breakfast and evening buffet food was delicious and plentiful. We had over 20 rooms in the hotel taken up by the wedding party and everyone we spoke to had no issues ,with plenty of parking which was important as most of our guests were travelling. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious which looked over the stunning golf course. It was very hot so most of our guests took full advantage and spilled out into the patio area before and after the sit down meal which worked very well. Our photographers managed to sneak us away for some romantic photos on the first tee, the bridge and along the path which were all beautiful and different backdrops. The breakfast the morning after was also fantastic which was a lovely end to our experience at Magnolia Park. Thank you so much!

« First impression was really bad »

This is an ok place for a wedding, which I went to recently. Although when I arrived I had to go to into the kitchens to get attention to even check in, I had waited at the reception desk to check in for a good 6-8 mins before going to the kitchens to get somebody to get someone to reception . The man arrived behind the office and just carried on checking us in without an apology or acknowledgment of waiting. The wedding it's self was good however the registrar was introducing the venue and surrounding area. I got the history bit and making history for the marrying couple. However I thought the spectacular venue with 18 hole golf course and venue mentioned twice was a bit of a sales call...... please leave this out when marrying the people as nobody wants a sale talking in a wedding. The venue for the main meal and evening was ok with good hosting. However In an event where there are two bars and the wedding hall having to wait for the bar person to go between both bars as, the wedding venue side was not open was a bit annoying. If I had to say here for bed and breakfast it would be 100% if I were to have an even here it wound be a no from me. Please take on board the reception desk, a person and second bar open in events and Apologies when. No hard sell at a wedding day (no-one is really interested) People sell a place and first impressions make all the difference for me.

    « Wedding »

Our friends had their wedding here, food ok, beer in abundance, music loud and smokey, seems like a very nice venue. Golf course afforded lovely backdrops for photos, would I stay here? Yes but only if I couldn't get into our preferred boutique type hotels

    « TRILBY TOUR »

Caddied in a golf competition. Bar staff poor. Golf course poor. Cleanliness very poor. Pro shop and staff very helpful. Management sat outside enjoying the day with tables full of rubbish while everyone rushed around trying to stop the ship sinking. Cancelled room and left.

    « So loud »

A nice spot, with perfectly well done hotel - clean, comfortable and friendly staff. All completely undermined by having our bedroom (no.11) right next to the event space, along with mother in law (over in room 18). When we arrived we heard music at around 7pm, which built to a crescendo at around 11 with thumping, grinding bass until 1220. There was a school disco going on next door. We raised with the staff several times, who made affable noises about closing doors and turning bass down a bit, none of which made the slightest bit of difference. This was followed by an hour or two of kids shrieking and charging around the corridors. We could never find anyone on site who appeared to be in charge - e.g. Could they turn off the music at 11pm? Can they refund us that night instead? All answered with I'm not in a position to make that call, and there was never a person on site who could.

« waste of refurb investment »

Drove up and it looked lovely - great looking golf course and lovely countryside. Went downhill rapidly from there. checked in for one night - given terrible room - ground floor overlooking rubbish., asked to be moved - moved to first floor exactly above room originally given. Room was lovely - great refurb till I opened the bathroom door - again lovely fittings very clean...horrific smell of sewage - had to spray with perfume and keep fan and door closed all night. I was told the hotel was full so I could not be moved AGAIN...receptionist had terrible attitude. However at breakfast next morning asked if the were busy and different receptionist said no, only a few rooms booked but getting busier by the weekend. Not sure why I was put where I was and why it was such a crime to ask to be moved. Felt very unconformable. Also could not order room service as the phone was never answered on reception... went down to find receptionist on her own phone...went to restaurant and ordered. nice chap on bar who brought it up for me when ready...still charged me £5.00 for tray charge. Breakfast next morning had B&B rate....did not fancy full English just wanted one egg with toast...think that would be cheaper for them (ie: no bacon sausage etc )...charged me £5.50 for going off agreed breakfast..which they removed when I complained. Will NEVER stay here again. Summary - shame as hotel has been renovated to a high standard but they need to invest in staff training / making guest feel like they are not a nuisance and fix their sewage pipes...FYI see pics!

    « Golf Trip »

This trip was booked by my Niece as a present to my Dad. We arrived Sunday afternoon and played 18 holes, the chap in the pro shop was very helpful and friendly. The Club was very quiet and there weren't many staff on duty and it seemed to be going through some transition as the course wasn't in the best shape in places but you could see work was being done to improve it. All of the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the Tony Jacklin bar which was of good quality. Breakfast was served in another room and again was good quality. I fully recommend the hotel, albeit in transition, as the staff made up for it by their friendly approach.

« Helpful staff, great conference facilities and very tasty lunch »

I stayed here as I was leading a conference at the hotel the next day. The hotel is quite remote so be prepared to travel by taxi for approx 30+ mins from Oxford, but it suited our needs completely. The remote location gives stunning country views, lovely to brighten the day, the wedding/conference room we used for approx 30 delegates looked out over the first tee with a comfortable outside patio area that could be used during breakout sessions. The bedrooms seemed very new, with work still going on in the gym. All of the amenties were clean and well looked after, biscuits and flapjacks provided with tea and coffee at each break, and extremely generous portions of tasty veg lasagne, beef bourguignon with mash and lots of salad. The vegan meal provided also received 5 out of 5. Being a smaller hotel the staff are very helpful, a manager going to great lengths to find cables to enable us to use the projector, and receptionists that walk you round to the gym to make sure you can find it in the morning. 4 out 5 as there was still work happening/needed. Bringing delegates together from London and Midlands, the Biscester location was an hour for both and ideal. Max of 10 mins from Biscester Shopping Village and a very large tesco express.

    « nothing special »

Stayed at hotel with friends a couple of weekends ago.Staff were very efficient and polite.Room comfortable.Breakfast ok.Dinner ok.I was informed by some of our party ie the golfers course was ok.There was a wedding on the day we arrived and one thing we did feel disappointed with was that the wedding party were in the same bar as residents. When the wedding party went into the room they had been allocated for there meal they were still using the main bar even though there was a bar in there room.We felt that it would have been better for residents if the wedding party were asked to stay in the function room. Also we did wonder what happens when you have a large number of residents going to breakfast at the same time this room was very small.

    « Little Wedding Day »

We had our amazing wedding day at this beautiful location on the 22nd July. The staff were just wonderful, especially the lady who helped us along the way, Claire Draper. Our wedding breakfast was just delicious and breakfast the following morning was just what everyone needed. We couldn't possibly have asked for more and look forward to visiting again to bring back the memories of our special day xxx

« Overpriced and over rated »

Myself and 3 friends played the course today. We play once a week near Bedford but decided to have a change and played Magnolia Park. I will not go into a lot of detail only to say it was appalling in every aspect. The teeing areas were devoid of any grass and more earth than grass. The greens slow uneven and some had large bare patches. Long walks between holes were the norm but very little indication of where you were to go. All in all a dreadful day and for the fee of £45 (good job we had a 2 for 1) it was a ridiculous price to pay for such a course. Will definitely not return.

« A very real lack of customer service »

I visited for one night for business and will not be visiting again. I did not encounter one member of staff with a smile! After checking in I ventured downstairs to find the restaurant, I asked a member of staff wearing a uniform where it was. They walked away and shouted to another member of staff "where is the restaurant?". Well if the staff do not not know where the facilities are that leaves me with little confidence! I walked in the direction he pointed me in to find a room of approximately 50 men attending an event and no room for one more. I quickly left the restaurant to try and find a nearby restaurant, after a 15 minute drive to the nearest town I ending up eating Pizza Express in my car. In the morning I awoke to find my hotel room door open. This was extremely unsettling as I know that I had closed the door behind me. (I have since raised this with the hotel among other issues and have been told that the night porter didn't note anything wrong!). Finally, I went down to breakfast which was ciaos! There were no staff or signage to direct you. You would then assume that it was self-serve, however there was no hot drinks or breads on offer. I approached a staff member outside the door and asked if he needed my room number, he said "no, just help yourself". As I was placing food on my plate I overheard another staff member approach a customer and ask if they would like tea/coffee/toast. I then took a seat and assumed she would ask me, she didn't. I then had to wait 5 minutes until another member of staff entered for me to ASK for coffee. She then looked at my plate and said "feel free to help yourself" which was quite evident that I already had! She was extremely rude. I have never left a hotel quickly enough and would not stay at this hotel again if it was free! Avoid unless you plan on using the golfing facilities which I understand are very good.

    « A Party to Remember! »

We held an anniversary party here back in May and the evening went off without a hitch. Everything from the food, the venue room, staff and the organisation was second to none. We worked closely with Claire who did everything she could to make the evening stress free and hassle free. She was easy to work with, took on board our requirements and was always easily contactable. She also offered her expertise from previous events and helped us with planning the event. The venue itself is a good size, clean with the function room separate and private from the rest of the place. There is a bar offering drinks and food. We stayed overnight and the rooms are a good size, modern, clean and not far from the function room at all. The exec rooms offer a balcony, the standard do not. It makes a huge difference staying over at any event, knowing you can stumble a few steps to your bed :-) The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer etc. If you are looking for a great venue (with loads and loads of parking), friendly staff, a smooth dinner service and a memorable evening....book at Magnolia!

    « "10/10 for Service & Smiles" »

The Golf Course and hotel were fine and hard to fault... BUT... the service shocked us... IT WAS OUTSTANDING !!!!! Me & my wife are keen golfers (not very good... but keen !!) and some friends suggested Magnolia Park would be a good venue for another epic battle and a chance for me to get 'that trophy' back on my side of the bed. Fronted by Sally & Diane who provided a warm, pleasant, smiling & helpful greeting, we soon found that the staff & members throughout Magnolia Park were equally helpful and made us feel welcome at all times. We'll certainly be returning, and maybe I'll get my hands on 'The trophy' next time :) When the service is this good, it makes the food taste even better !!! Thanks Sally... Thanks Diane... and 'Thanks' Magnolia Park

« Diamond wedding anniversary party »

My husband, who is paraplegic and an independent wheelchair user, and I stayed here for one night recently after my parents diamond wedding anniversary party, an afternoon tea. Regarding the anniversary party, the staff were incredibly kind and well organised. Matt, the events manager, was very patient and helpful and Kristine and her team did very well before, during and after the event. Everything was very efficiently carried out. The food was good, the staff very helpful and the venue clean and spacious. Two of us needed a gluten-free afternoon tea which was delicious. Everybody was very accommodating as I had to arrive early to set up the tables with the flowers and the cake et cetera. My parents who are in their 80s really enjoyed the afternoon which was the most important thing. Once we had struck a deal for the Prosecco the price for afternoon tea for 60 people was very reasonable!!!! Regarding accessibility for wheelchair users the hotel does need a little bit of improvement. There are two portable ramps to get up the steps at the entrance of the building. There aren't any ramps as far as we know to get out the back and into the outdoor seating area outside the bar. it was a really hot day and no umbrellas or shaded areas which was unfortunate. The bedroom itself was very good with a nice large accessible wet room. There is level access throughout the hotel but with a narrow door to the public disabled toilet. The hotel doesn't appear to have a fire evacuation procedure for people who have mobility or hearing issues but when we asked, the staff were happy to inform reception that my husband may need help if there was an incident. The staff were more than happy to help me with luggage and all the paraphernalia somebody with a major disability needs. A chap called Daniel went out of his way to help us in a really cheerful manner. The bar staff were also extremely kind and nothing seemed too much trouble. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout our stay and we will definitely recommend this venue for anyone wishing to host a party or stay here.

We attended a wedding reception here and stayed the night. Brilliant staff and very welcoming! Room was nice and airy, food was lovely. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, not many staff around and the food tasted like it had been sat there a while. Overall a good venue and would visit again

    « Fine for a B&B overnight stay »

It was really out of the way and located in a golf course away from the city centre of Oxford. We stayed here for overnight enroute to Oxford the next day. A bit run down although reasonably priced. We arrived late at 9 something in the evening, and there was basically no one around but our keys were prepared and left on the front counter! The reception staff came after some time and check-in was done. Room was basic with TV and free wifi although it took me several times to connect with the provided password, Signal was not very strong and I ended up using my own wifi egg instead for speed and stability. I had to walk out to the reception twice to get the missing toiletry items (shampoo, shower gel and hand soap, and extra towel etc.) Space of breakfast room was very small so we were arranged to have our seats at a different room with five big tables set up there. Everyone had to walk to the breakfast room for food several times. Wonder how they could accomodate the total number of guests with such a small breakfast room! Moderate quality of food with watery coffee did not add positively the staying experience. So I wouldn't mind staying here for a B&B overnight since I didn't come for the golf games.

« Out of the way and peaceful »

a single night stop over with colleagues, rather than a golfing trip this was just for B & B Lovely location, peaceful, quiet and secluded. Place is effectively a golf resort / clubhouse with rooms One might say this has seen better days, slightly run down but on the face of it busy and well run. Rooms reasonably priced and food of moderate quality served on site. |Ultimately fit for purpose but would not recommend for special occasions but if you are a golfer looking for a place to go and swing the clubs this fits the bill.

    « Great little club »

I have been playing at Magnolia Park for a few weeks now and really like there, the course is a fairly good challenge, the 8th and 15th are for the most challenging but still immense fun to play. The greens are in need of a bit of TLC, and can be hard to read. The staff in the Pr-Shop are friendly, especially Ben and Jamie. A snack shack a way around the course is a great aspect to the course.

« great staff made our stay excellent »

My wife Margaret and I spent a wonderful week-end break at this hotel, also due to my semi disability, the reception staff were kind enough to grant my request for a particular room. The room was first class and it faced the 1st tee at the hotel's golf course, everything we wanted in a room was installed at this room, beautifully decorated, the bed was great and the bathroom very clean and modern. They provide great value breaks for golfers which includes, 3 days golf, dinner, bed and breakfast on two of the days. The staff here are most gracious and patient especially the food and beverage supervisor Diane, what a great lady, she could'nt do enough for us and also suggested where to visit for my wife's shopping day, she also suggested to visit a town nearby called, Thame, this was a lovely town where we enjoyed lunch. The hotel food was very good, especially breakfast which was a buffet type, but also laid on fruit and various other delights. The waiters were fast and friendly, especially young Michael (who by chance was Diane's young 16 year old son. (good lad) My wife and I visit various hotels every other couple of months throughout the year, but this hotel was a wonderful and pleasant break for us, we intend to revisit here again quite soon.(many thanks to everyone at the hotel!)

« A Couple of days shear pleasure »

I needed to arrange a reunion of old musicians in the centre of the Country and navigated to this hotel without any prior knowledge of the site. Firstly it was truly in the rural countryside and secondly is was one of the nicest appointed hotels I have visited. It is dedicated to golfers with its own attached course which I didn't sample. Us old codgers were welcomed with good parking and beautiful rooms, in my case a disabled room. The food turned out to be first class and the B & B rate was very reasonable. Above all the staff were outstanding in there service and willingness to help us in every way. We were allowed to set up our instruments and play in the bar which was OK for the patrons if you like 30 - 40s music and a bit of jazz. We were completely satisfied and are planning to revisit in the Autumn.

« Wonderful Wedding at Magnolia Park »

We visited yesterday to clebrate a wedding at magnolia Park. The food was excellent and the premises were a perfect setting. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. An extra special mention goes to Ashley, one of the waiting staff who worked tirelessly all day with a smile and sense of humour....Thankyou and also the event organiser who made sure everything ran like clockwork. A great day was had by all.

    « Friendly, smart, quiet. »

We've stayed a couple of time here while visiting family nearby. The rooms are modern and sleek, a king sized bed, large TV, walk in shower, air conditioning, tea and coffee making, very good Internet and despite being close to the M40 it's remarkably quiet. The breakfast is OK, filling and tasty, but not necessarily top quality sausage and bacon. However the coffee is instant which is the only bad thing I have to say about breakfast. We will definitely stay there again, but I've switched to tea for the breakfast there! The staff were all friendly, attentive, and helpful.

« Fabulous overnight stay to meet friends »

Super rooms, clean and newly decorated. View from our room was of building site though, but that did not really matter. Staff really friendly. We ate in the bar/ restaurant at night. Good bar food. Would return again. Staff very attentive at breakfast time.

« clean and comfortable hotel with restaurant and golf »

This is a really comfortable hotel with a fine restaurant available although for this visit we only used the bar menu. The rooms are typical Best Western standard and the location is secure and has an excellent 18 hole course to boot. Great for a weekend away yet within easy reach of Oxford, Bicester and Aylesbury. If there's a wedding reception on, they will offer a quiet room away from the function rooms.

    « A very comfortable stay »

I stay here on business several times a year and the staff are very helpful. The rooms are comfortable, the wifi works well and the facilities are very good for business or leisure. There is a good range on the menu and the breakfast is made to order. For those who enjoy retail therapy, Bicester Village is a short drive away

    « Great Hotel »

Love this hotel, receptionist every time I have visited is brilliant and even remembered me on this visit even though i have only stayed at the hotel once before. Rooms are really good standard and service is fantastic. Only down side is there are no Irons in the rooms bit they always have send on to the room on request. Room - 5/5 stayed in two types of rooms and both have been of a great standard. Bathroom - 5/5 great bathrooms and look the park. Staff - 5/5 all staff at the site are helpful. Food - 4/5 food to a good standard. You dovhave to go to the bar to order room service which can be a pain but staff at the bar. Gym - N/A didnt use the gym on either occasions I stayed so could comment Pool - N/A didnt use the pool on either occasions I stayed so could comment WiFi - 5/5 good strong connection was able to stream iPlayer without any issues. The service you are given by staff is brilliant and at the price I have paid is even better.

« MOTHERS DAY SUNDAY LUNCH »

Just returned from a lovely Sunday roast at Magnolia Park. Wonderful surroundings. This is a little gem for a family Sunday lunch. £16.95 for 2 courses, 4 meat choices !! And the children are well accommodated for. Fab service. Thank you.

« They haven't got it QUITE right. »

Stayed here for a two night break with another couple. The room was spacious, well-equipped and very clean. It was, however, very cold and throughout the hotel the heating did not seem to be working efficiently. Dinner was served in the 'Spike Bar, which was ok but rather scruffy furnishings rather let it down. The staff were first class, friendly and helpful. There were very few people around throughout our stay and I think that, with hindsight, another hotel might have been a better choice..

    « Birthday Break »

My wife and I stayed here for two nights following my birthday in October. First impressions were good and the staff very helpful and friendly. The room was well appointed and quiet. However the food and service in the bar were abysmal. If you stay here the hotel side is bordering on the 4 star rating advertised but the dining is two star at best.

    « Good hotel »

Rooms and welcome were great, bar staff were friendly and helpful, but bar food left a lot to be desired. Ordered the home made burger, which was like leather and inedible!! After a comfortable night sleep in a clean room, went for breakfast. Ordered toast and tea with my main breakfast, but was served only one piece of toast, asked for another, which eventually came, served with reluctance. Bacon was extremely fatty, and the waiter was clearing my table whilst I was still eating, taking away my plate and cutlery whilst I still had the reluctantly served toast, which I was enjoying, but could no longer butter without cutlery or a plate. Maybe some staff training and a chef who can cook good simple food well, otherwise a really good stay

« Need to check for major functions such as weddings when booking and make arrangements accordingly. »

My wife and I took a ?golf break? from 28-30 October 2016. The rooms were small but adequate, and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Unfortunately on our first night the hotel was totally focused on a wedding function. The staff and facilities struggled to cope with the demands of the wedding ceremony; they failed totally to cope with evening meals for other booked guests. Despite ordering meals in advance to help the kitchen staff and agreeing to eat in the club bar. The booked table became unavailable; the tables in the bar's u-shaped seating areas were unsuitable for dining from other than from a single side; the large-screen TV and noise from the adjacent disco did not help the ambiance. The steaks ordered were of average quality, over-priced and spoiled by a liberal application of salt. At breakfast the following day the waiting time for a table was up to 20 minutes. Management were suitably apologetic, however it is recommended that on booking you check to see what functions, if any, are taking place. If there is a large function taking place then you might wish to arrange to eat elsewhere that evening. Golf: OK, but because of a ladies inter-club fixture we were unable to start until noon and barely finished before dark.

« Friendly staff and tricky golf course »

20 of us stayed here one night/two days for a golf society trip. We had a great time. Friendly, helpful staff, good food and very comfortable, clean rooms with all mod cons. The golf course is well designed with some tricky holes and some great views over half of Oxfordshire. However, it is in need of some TLC in places with rusty and missing signage and rather shabby teeing areas on some holes. But we would definitely go back.

« Had my wedding here!! Was amazing »

Had my whole wedding here from ceremony right through the night. The place is so clean and tidy and beautifully decorated. The staff are so helpful and accommodating and make you feel at home! The food for normal eating and my wedding food was amazing!! Every guest complimented the food! The rooms are lovely and clean and massive beds and showers. I couldn't of asked for a more perfect day and venue. Special mention to Claire who organised everything so beautifully and Diane who was very helpful for the two days we stayed. Thanks xxx

    « Appalling customer service »

Check in was fine however I required a 4.30am check out and after 30 minutes trying to get hold of someone I had to be let out the kitchen as all doors were locked. After calling later in the day no interest was shown to the issues and the fact I was late for work and the only thing the hotel wanted was for me to pay !

    « Like a Boarding School »

This is a severely overrated place. OK there is a golf course, but it is a boring course and very average layout. Rooms are small, stuffy and with little to talk about. Bathroom smells, no soap and just a dead boring place. Food choice is worse that a Motorway stop and expensive. Car parking is a long way from rooms and hard to wheel your luggage, no staff offering to help and Miss Grumpy behind the reception desk. And at over 100 quid a night, it is expensive.

« Shades of gorgeous green! »

We stayed at this country club on a 2 day excursion visiting the Cotswold and Oxford. It was a little out of the way but well worth the trip. The property is beautiful, the rooms luxurious, clean, with comfy beds. Our view was wonderfully green looking out on the golf course. We ate dinner here and it was surprisingly empty but had amazing service with delicious food. The bartender did not know how to make am American drink, so he allowed me to help him and sent servers all over searching for ingredients. It was really funny and so very nice. We really enjoyed our stay for many reasons but the staff was so very friendly and helpful.

« Lovely Room but No Restaurant »

We checked in and were allocated a room on the ground floor. It was spacious which you would expect from an Executive Room but the 'views overlooking the golf course' were in fact a view of a grassy mound! The room had limited clothes hanging space as there was a small fridge in it. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was excellent with walk in shower. On the second night it was very cold so as the hotel had no heating until October we asked for a heater as this was mentioned in the hotel book and we were given one. We discovered that the restaurant was not open during the week despite asking the receptionist when we booked if she could email over a copy of the menu - this never arrived - so we now know why! The hotel website definitely states the hotel has a restaurant and a bar menu. We had to eat in the Tony Jacklin bar and chose from a very limited choice menu. We ordered steak pie and mash and ham egg and chips. A conversation was had with the Bar Manager as to what the vegetables were. He checked with the chef and we were told we could have anything we liked? We chose peas, green beans, broccoli and cabbage. The Bar Manager returned and said they did not have any cabbage or beans! When the food arrived the ham had lots and lots of fat on it, the eggs were solid and everything was piled onto salad which was of course soggy. The steak pie was full of very chewy meat and the grey mash potato was inedible. Presentation - nil. We had to send the pie and mash back and were given chips instead. We complained to the waiter and he said he would report to the Manager. There were 3 huge television screens on the walls and seating was not particularly comfortable. We enquired at reception after the meal if we could speak to the Manager and were told that he was on holiday! There was no one else to speak to. Breakfast was buffet style in a very small hot dining room. Bacon, fried eggs and sausages were swimming in grease. We ordered poached eggs and these arrived hardly cooked. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so it is not easy to find a local pub or restaurant close by to eat as an alternative. The dining room had a lot of tables and chairs piled up as it had not been used for sometime. We were eventually told that the hotel would not charge for our meals but when we came to check out the items were still on the bill! We were asked if we would like a newspaper which we ordered but this did not arrive as the receptionist forgot to order it! The hotel is obviously under staffed and the food is appalling. The rooms are very comfortable so if you don't need to eat there your stay could be quite enjoyable!

« Very nice and clean »

My wife and I stayed here for two nights a couple of weeks ago. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. We stay out quite often and asked if the manager could ring so we could use this as a regular place to stay but still haven't received a call very disappointing.

    « Wedding »

When we booked our wedding we were introduced to Claire Draper. I cannot thank Claire highly enough for all the support she gave us throughout the planning of our wedding. We got married on 12th August and the day went perfectly! There were a few last minute adjustments that needed to be made (our fault not Magnolia or Claire), Claire was superb in resolving the little issues. The weather was fantastic, the venue was beautiful. All of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was. The food was excellent and the drink flowed! We will remember this special day for a very very long time. Without Claire's hard work and experience none of this would have possible. I would highly recommend Magnolia as a venue. We think it is exceptional value for money and team at Magnolia are superb. The added bonus is they now have the hotel accommodation, which is very spacious and comfortable. A great location and a great day!

« Spacious and Well Decorated Room »

We were very comfortable at the Magnolia Hotel. We had booked a superior room, and found it to be well decorated and spacious. Naturally, as the room overlooked the golf course, it was very quiet at night. We did initially have problems with our room, but the staff did their upmost to rectify this. On arrival, we found the room exceedingly hot. We soon found out that the air conditioning was not functioning. However, several staff spent several hours trying to sort out the problem. They were unable to give us an alternative room as the hotel was fully booked. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The meal that we ate there was very good. We could certainly recommend it to others.

« Problems with room bookings nearly ruined my daughters wedding there »

My daughter loved the venue and booked her wedding there along with 9 of the rooms for family to stay in. They kept selling her rooms on booking.com or to other wedding guests and 5 days before wedding we only had 5 of the 9 needed rooms, and even though we asked for them to tell us if rooms became available, they didn't, This caused incredible stress and their customer service approach was really poor and quite hostile. Given that she was spending around 5K with them it was really surprising, Apparently the hotel operates separately to the venue. By the day before they did manage to find us 3 extra rooms, but to date we have had no apologies or goodwill gestures. Some of the rooms were not cleaned/made up for 2nd night, contract housekeepers being used probably werent told. Think hotel side has problems with communication, customer service and their booking systems. Rooms were fine, comfortable and well stocked with towels etc. Tea tray didnt include normal tea, just camomile and green tea so glad I took some. Saving grace for the wedding was the wedding organisation was fantastic, co-ordinator really helpful and professional, bar and catering staff all really helpful and friendly. Food and drink in the bar area and for the wedding really tasty and reasonably priced. We even got free wine when our food was delayed slightly.

    « Nice wedding banquet »

A close member of our family held their wedding reception at Magnolia Park. The staff couldn't do enough to look after the guests and the whole place was extremely well kept. The golf course back drop was a bonus, particularly for drinks on the patio, on what was a very warm day! Lunch was wonderful: everybody appeared to receive what they had ordered. All of the food arrived hot, nice size portions and very well prepared. Later in the evening they served a finger buffet with a range of flavours from around the world.

    « Perfect wedding venue »

We had our wedding breakfast/reception here and it was the most perfect day. From the moment we saw the venue and met Claire I knew it was the place we had been looking for. The grounds are beautiful. Claire was fantastic from start to finish, made me feel at ease that my big day was in good hands. We were unable to set up the room due to another wedding the day before which meant I had to leave everything with Claire and her team, this made me nervous as of course I wanted everything perfect, exactly how I wanted it. Well I shouldn't have been worried, when Claire took me into the room it looked magical, her team had done a fantastic job. The food was amazing, everybody commented on how nice it was. Richard the bar manager could not have done enough to help, lovely man. The hotel room was nice and clean with everything we needed (we have 2 children under 2 so the bath came in handy) the bed was huge and very comfy and the balcony gives it a lovely touch. Breakfast the next morning was good with the wedding party taking up every table (sorry to any others) I would highly recommend magnolia park for any function or just a cheeky night away. Thanks again to Claire and her fab team.

Good hotel, rooms in excellent condition, comfy bed, bathroom well appointed. Food very good and well looked after by all of the staff, especially the barman on the Saturday night. Tough course with the wind blowing and keeping it on the fairway is a must, the rough is particularly brutual.

« If you like golf »

To me "Golf" is a good walk spoilt however I'm not here for the golf but on a business stop over. The room I'm in is spacious and modern with a comfy bed, the view from my room (35) doesn't look over the golf course infact it doesn't really have a view, just rough ground. The check in was speedy and the receptionist was very polite and had me checked in P.D.Q. At the time of writing this review I haven't tasted the food but the menu looks fairly limited however reasonably priced for a hotel. Overall first impressions are pretty good, would I stay here again YES. Even though people are walking around in strange dress lol!!!

    « Brilliant reception venue »

I had my wedding reception here on Saturday, and what a brilliant time we had. All our guests didn't have a bad word to say about the food (which was excellent.....well done chef) the rooms (which we had the whole hotel) or the staff (who was very friendly and fun) Claire our reception organiser & manager was brilliant throughout. We had a few hiccups with the first manager at the beginning, needless to say doesn't work there anymore. The only downfall we could say about the whole day was we were given the incorrect sashes (supposed to match the bridesmaids dress and favours) but on a whole the reception was brilliant, again the food was fantastic although I missed the Hog roast :( and the bar staff was excellent even though they was short......Richard the bar manager pulled out all the stops. I would not have changed the venue for nothing they gave me a my wife the best reception we could have asked for. For that I thank you and I'm sure we will see you again.

« Nice hotel and grounds »

Stayed for 2 days on business, lovely room and comfy bed. Restaurant ok, but easy to go over my expenses limit. Advertised as having a gym, but was a waste is space, as equipment broken, eg both rowing machines, and a weights machine. One treadmill that came out of the ark. Nice beer though, try the shipyard.

« Good for golf/parties but lacks character »

This is a hotel with a golf course attached. The hotel is quite modern and the rooms are well appointed. There is the usual flat screen TV, hairdryer and air conditioning. The hotel is very clean and functional but it lacks character. You get the impression that they cater more for large parties, with a large function room come dining room. We were a golf party of 12 but unfortunately there was also a wedding party in at the same time. We had to have our evening meal in the bar, whilst the wedding party were mingling around us and the disco was blaring in the back round, or rather foreground! Service on the first evening, therefore, was rather slow. The second evening was better, we had the whole function room to ourselves. Food was very good, except for the raw liver! The breakfast room was a small impersonal glass walled annex which was reminiscent of an afterthought when the building was completed. The food however was good, the quality of bread on the first morning was good but poor on the second morning, and no marmalade! For the golfers, there's a large changing room with plenty of lockers but not kept tidy (lots of paper towels on the floor). There's a pro shop, plenty of golf buggies but the batteries are a bit suspect. They may not last the whole 18 holes, we did see one abandoned and ours was struggling! The course is long and very difficult. Plenty of water hazards and rough. If you go in the rough then forget about your ball, it's so long. The bunkers are numerous but very little sand in them (more like cement!). However, when you finish the 18th, the outside bar area is very welcoming but the food and drink a little pricey. Overall, good golf packages and, I suspect, good for other parties, but lacks the wow factor. Probably not good for couples.

« Nice country location, with golf course views, food and wine a little expensive »

Room was nice, comfortable bed, big bathroom, good water pressure, flat screen TV. Air conditioning no so effective, so room a little warm. Curtain header fell on the floor whilst in the room - only held on with tape! Food served in the bar area, so a casual affair, and very pricey both for food and drink. Nice terrace and good service. Gym is upstairs and well equipped but smelt awful and was very hot. No pool sadly. The golf course looks nice although I had no chance to use it. Car park is shared with the golf course, and a little way from reception.

    « Shocking »

Booked to stay in the hotel with a friend for a lovely shopping trip and overnight stay, didn't check in until 8pm, the grounds looked lovely upon arrival. Checked in and when I got to our room, it was a double when I'd requested a twin and actually booked a twin on the website. This room was a disabled room on ground floor and the bathroom was really unsightly and no where to put anything and had a really bad smell. I appreciate that hotels have disabled facility rooms but this room was not a very nice room at all and even the receptionist said that it was unsightly. The TV didn't work and the room lights kept turning off after 20 mins so we had to keep taking our room card out of the power slot to re activate the lights. We checked out the following morning only to be charged for someone else's evening meal. It has taken me two months to get this refunded and the hotel has offered me no form of refund or discount for my inconvenience of the room. I believe due to late check in we just got the last room and no thought was given to our twin sleeping arrangements. Very upsetting to our girlie shopping weekend, which we'd had planned for a while and we're looking forward to it. I will never book a best western ever again, the Area Manager who handled my complaint was not at all helpful and did not offer any compensation on to refund the someone else's dinner which I'd not eaten... Incompetent staff and shocking hotel. I'll stick to double tree Hilton in future

    « One night stay »

Stayed here on a Sunday evening as was attending a wedding there. First impressions ... Not great, the receptionist was clearly to busy to check me in and felt like I was inconveniencing her. The hotel is attached to the main building which we managed to locate. The hotel is very modern and fairly new. We had an executive room which was small with eves but had a balcony and had everything you require. The bathroom was large with a huge shower. The bed was really comfy. The hotel was spotless and all the other staff we came across were friendly. The food was far superior to what you expect at a wedding. It was quite expensive for one night but ticked all the boxes and would recommend.

    « Absolutely Wonderfull »

My school held our Year 11 Prom there this year and it was absolutely wonderful!. While we were arranging it through out the year, Claire was very patient with us and extremely helpful as this was a student planned affair so we were quite inexperienced. On the night the room was decorated so beautifully I had no words, a gorgeous space with lovely lights, center pieces and a lovely, picturesque outside area which was the back drop for many photos! We were welcomed with a red carpet and complimentary drink which was a great touch because it made us all feel really special. Also, Diane Kew went out of her way and spent her own money getting us balloons to put in the center of out table to give the room that extra sparkle. Diane was so kind, lovely and excited for us she really went above and beyond and made us feel as if this was more than just a job for her so we all want to say a really massive thank you for that too her. The food was really tasty (a particular favorite of mine were the mini cheesecake slices) and the people working at the bar were really friendly too. All in all it was a really fantastic night at a fantastic venue with super stellar service! 10/10 would definitely would recommend booking for your next event!

« Lovely hotel and beautiful surroundings but poor nights sleep! »

Stayed for a weekend in July. The hotel itself is beautiful, room with ensuite very nice and also exceptionally clean. Lovely country and golf course views from the patio area attached to the restaurant. Breakfast, very good and good food in the restaurant. The only down side we experienced was although the room was lovely the bed was the type that was zipped together in the middle and there was an uncomfortable gap also we experienced noise from outside the room which may have been a generator of sorts but we cannot be sure. All in all a lovely stay spoilt slightly by poor quality of sleep.

We do not play golf, but we would definitely stay again and can recommend this excellent hotel.

« Steer clear... Very poor service »

I have stayed at this hotel on 4 different occasions.. and my last experience has made me decide that I won't be staying there again. I stayed last week, and several rooms had problems with no electricity.. I don't just mean power sockets.. but lighting too. Very dangerous to be in bathroom (that has no windows so pitch black when the light isn't on). to find yourself in a wet bathroom in the dark not great at all. The lights would only stay on for about 3 minutes, then you had to walk to the key card and re insert it to get electricity again. So not great if you then wish to dry your hair (nightmare situation) and no-one has time for this in the morning when you are on a business trip. I don't have all day to lounge around.. needed to get up, shower and get out as quick as possible. Apparently they have had trouble with this since changing over to a new system... so... my questions is - why no mention of this when i booked in that if I had a problem to call them.. or at least be aware of it. When I mentioned when booking out, I was met with a pathetic sorry (that didn't feel it was meant), and no willingness/authority to try to resolve my dissatisfaction. "My manager isn't here" I was told. I stayed on Wed eve, and have not heard from the hotel since, so can only think that my complaint was not passed on - or not important. As they have had problems with this since the new system was installed you would think the staff would be empowered to make a gesture of goodwill where customers have been inconvenienced. Breakfast is very poor too. you order off a menu for a set cooked breakfast, but they really can not cope with the demand. very slow service, which I have experience each time I have stayed, My first visit clashed with a coach of tourists staying at the hotel and breakfast was bedlam and so disorganised. Again.. they didn't really care - just a shrug of the shoulders. There never seems to be enough staff around to deal with issues, or that really care about their customers. On another visit the restaurant and rooms were so so so cold, everyone was complaining. On that occasion they had problems with the heating. I have given this hotel several chances now, a one off poor experience I can turn a blind eye to... but this is the norm for this hotel. and I strongly advise to steer clear. They can't cope!

« My surprise birthday party! »

Thank you so much to Claire for being a superstar and helping my husband arrange THE BEST surprise birthday party for me! Perfect location... Everyone in one large room with a great sized bat and access to the patio garden outside so we could enjoy the lovely evening sunshine. The house DJ was excellent and catered for a range of people at the party. There was a wide range of food supplied for the evening buffet and everyone said how great the food was! Ourselves and a number of guests stayed overnight and the rooms were also great! No complaints ...... couldn't have asked for anything more! Thank you so much

    « Our wedding day »

After a few troubling starts with events organisers we ended up with a star within Claire, this girl put in so much effort in making are day run so smoothly and sure enough it did until one of are guess had a slight altercation with the steps out the front which the manager dealt with very well, maybe more lighting needed out the front? We picked this venue as it was just off the M40 and idea for the majority of our guest and catered for everything we needed under one roof. Food was amazing and all guest where very happy with how the whole day went. We had our ceremony in the Ryder cup room which may seem a bit small to some but was really adequate for us and is a lot more spacious then you would first think. We had some issues with rooms but the receptionist Kate dealt with this issue with no fuss. All staff came across friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend magnolia park.

    « Ian and Bev's Wedding »

Had our wedding here on 18/6/16, fantastic venue for both the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. Brilliant time had by all with no complaints from anyone about anything. Special mention for Clair our wedding organiser who was fabulous and everything ran perfectly. Golf course was testing too.

« Very peaceful, and not far from the centre of Oxfotd »

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel last week, for 3days and found this hotel's location quite and peaceful, and the staff very polite and helpful, although a few of the staff found understanding what we wanted, but we got over that, the room was very clean and had everything that you needed, with an extra bonus of a lovely view over the golf course and countryside.our breakfasts were lovely, but found some days to be very busy. dutto a coach party every morning. But that did not put us off. We will hopefully be going back again and if you want to go and spend some money go to Bicester shopping outlet worth a visit.

    « LWS Year 13 Prom Night »

A wonderful location to celebrate the end of the school year and a great prom night. This would not have been made possible without the most amazing events manager - Claire Draper - she was the best co-ordinator we could have asked for. Her attention to detail was outstanding; she was there every time a member of staff or a member of the ball committee had a query or a worry; on the end of the phone and in person too. She made sure she that we could host our 'Night at the Oscars' event, making sure we were always ok and that every thing ran smoothly. Her advice was invaluable - thank you Claire for ensuring that our ball was the best yet. You deserve the 5 star award!!

    « Old Golfers »

Oxfordshire Past (Golf) Captains entertained there Cambridgeshire counterparts in the annual "Battle of the Blues" match at Magnolia Park on Wednesday 17th May 2016. At front of house we were greeted by "Diane" who looked after the bar and served the light lunch in a very cheerful manner. The weather forecast was not good but the thirty two intrepid golfers commenced battle in fine conditions, the weather got progressively worse during the afternoon. This is a fine layout but we were wondering about the stroke index as some of the holes certainly a stiffer challenge than some indices would suggest. The greens were fast and the undulations on the green certainly made life difficult. A word of caution the rough was punishing and a number of balls have been left somewhere on the course for the members benefit! On a warm sunny day this is a course to visit as it will clearly test your golf skills being a long course (6,946 yards off the tiger tees) with some lengthy walks between green and tee. Our hosts came out the worthy winners by four and a half to three and a half. The changing rooms were large, however the showers did let it down, needing a refreshing shower after 18 holes in wet conditions a hot shower was the order of the day. Unfortunately one shower had the head hanging off the attachment and in the others the temperature would fluctuate from hot to cold in a Nano second. There was also a distinct "odour" in the shower area. The steam room was on but was not hot enough to participate in. Dinner was later served in the "glass room". Some renovation work is currently taking place in the bar area which has two large flat TV screens, this makes for an ideal society venue when: a.) Weather conditions improve. b.) The showers have been addressed. c.) Renovations have been completed. d.) You have your "A" game with you. e.) When Diane is on duty.

    « Very poor management - Overbooking »

I had made my reservation 8th July 2015 for 4th May 2016, as a few of us had chosen to stay here for two nights to attend a wedding. We was all looking forward to staying at the hotel, the wedding was not held at the hotel but was at a local venue. On Saturday 30th April 2016, I receive an unexpected email from Kate (receptionist) asking when the best time is for her to call me, I called the hotel straightaway to speak to Kate and she had informed me that due to management over booking the hotel my party and I (7 Rooms) were going to be out booked to another lovely hotel. Kate also said she couldn't get hold of a few of the people staying, so I sId I would try and contact them (this included the bride and groom). When I had explained to the party what the hotel was doing they was not best pleased as it was only few days to go until the wedding, so we had made all other arrangements based on this hotel. I rang Kate back to ask the name of the hotel that they decided to move us too, as we all wanted to see what it was like - bad choice of move, they was going to move us to the Tally Ho a local B&B just two miles away from them. None of us was happy to move there, and said we was not going to move as we had booked these room 10 months ago, so it was not down to us for them over booking the hotel. Few of the party were contacting the hotel regarding this issue, and the management team we had spoken to on the phone had the I don't care attitude and we found them very rude and unprofessional as they were the ones who put us in this position, stress that we did not need. Kate on the other hand was very helpful and could not do enough for us, she was my main contact at the hotel as the rest of them were useless. I called Kate back and said we had seen another hotel that was very similar to this hotel. The Bicester Golf & Spa hotel I said to Kate that they can move us to this one and for the hotel to cover any extra costs. Kate assured me she would arrange this for us, I got an email back to say all rooms have been booked, and we would receive confirmation back later that evening confirming the new booking at Bicester Golf & Spa hotel. No confirmation received Saturday as the useless shift manager had not forwarded it on to Kate, we chased confirmations all day Sunday and Monday, and finally received it Monday 2nd May at 10:30pm! The hotel really mucked us around, we had no apology from the management team. If it wasn't for Kate's help then I don't know what we would have done as the management team really did not want to help. Normally terms and conditions can be found on the hotel website for bookings, as I would love to know what their policy is for overbooking the hotel,I also come from a hotel background, so I know how it works, but the hotels I have worked in would never let this shambles happen. We finally got it all sorted and had an amazing time at the Bicester Golf & Spa hotel - I highly recommend this hotel, as as a guest you also get free use of the gym and spa, treatments and golf are at an additional charge but very reasonable prices. This hotel does not have spa facilities. Once again, a BIG thank you to Kate (receptionist) for all your hard work and effort in helping us - the managers need to take watch and learn from you.

A lovely place with a modern room well decorated and a comfortable bed. The room had a view of the golf course and a fountain. Meal in the bar was very nice and plentiful. An ideal location for visiting the Bicester Village.

    « A VERY COMFORTABLE STAY »

I had the opportunity to play golf on their course, so we decided to make a night of it and spen the night at the hotel before playing. And very comfortable it was too. On arrival we had a snack lunch in the golf club bar which was fine. then played nine holes before checking in. The room was absolutely fine, everything you needed and an incredibly comfortable bed. We had dinner in the restaurant, and the food was delicious. The breakfast was also very good, with a good buffet selection as well as the hot food. Throughout our stay the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and we hope to go back to have another crack at the golf course.

    « Comfortable hotel »

Hotel is relatively small and therefore quiet. Well appointed rooms, comfortable bed, very clean. Toiletries provided as well as biscuits and hot chocolate. Bar food very good and reasonably priced. Lovely quiet location and the golf is a bonus - if only I had the time!

    « Wedding Day (5th March 2016) »

Anyone considering having their wedding here should definitely go ahead with it. We had an awesome day. The Magnolia Park team could not have been more helpful and they ensured our day ran smoothly, so a massive thank you to Claire, Ben, Christina and all the staff at Magnolia who massively contributed to our wedding day. A special mention must go to Claire as she worked so hard for us and delivered everything we wanted and having got married at Magnolia herself, knew exactly what was required. We had 75 day guests and a further 20 for the evening totalling 95 guests in all. The catering was amazing, everyone loved the food and there was surprisingly plenty of it. The rooms are also of a high quality and staff are extremely helpful. The wedding package for this venue is extremely good value for money and we are so glad we had our wedding here. We will have to return for the odd meal or maybe some more footgolf or even some golf if my dad can persuade me. Thank you Magnolia Park. Mr & Mrs Jones

    « My Daughters Wedding »

We have just held our daughters wedding reception at the Best Western Plus Magnolia Plus, Golf and Country Park for 57 persons. Initially I was sceptical about the venue, but my scepticism was unfounded. The Events Manager, Clare, could not have helped my daughter and now-son-in-law any more than she did. She did what it said on the can - she managed the event - very smoothly with no fuss or hiccups. The Receptionist, Kate, was friendly and helpful to all. She handled all requests, room changes etc with no fuss or stress whatever. The Manager, Ben, was extremely helpful, coping very professionally with a minor accident/incident later during the evening. All the staff, cooks, waitresses, cleaners, bar persons were very friendly, very approachable and very helpful. The venue itself is very attractive. Unfortunately we had a cold windy grey day but in the summer I think it will be quite stunning. The room that the Civil Ceremony was held in was a bit snug for 57 of us. But the bar was a great meet and greet room and after the Ceremony a good social area prior to the Wedding Breakfast. The actual hall for the Wedding Breakfast was huge, very presentable , warm looking and attractive. All in all - 'Thank you very much' to all who work at the venue for making the day memorable.

« Lovely location, Staff great »

We visited here for a short stay break, room (36) a little small for "executive suite" but really well presented/spotless clean with a great view over golf course. Breakfast dining area a little small, (makes it really hot when trying to eat) and bar area doubles as evening restaurant (vestige of the old golf club house feel, which is what is was/still is of course) but I believe this is due to be replaced soon. Food was EXCELLENT really delicious (both breakfast and evening meal couldn't be faulted) well done to chef! Spa area (sauna and steam room) a little disappointing in that male and female Spa's are separate and located in respective male/female locker areas, but I can see the attraction for some people though. Has a good gym area on top floor. Definitely the best part of this hotel are the staff, Kate on front end of house was lovely, always friendly and time for a chat/advice on local area, George in the bar really friendly again thanks for the travel advice. A great base to visit Oxford, we took George's advice and drove about 5 miles to Bicester outlet mall, (a lovely shopping area if your into designer clothing, some nice restaurant also) it has a railway station right onto (free car park) and we hopped train 1 stop to Oxford parkway then a shuttle bus into Oxford centre included in ticket price of train. (£6 for both of us return) save the hassle of trying to drive and park in really busy Oxford centre. If you don't fancy train and bus I believe there is also a park and ride from Bicester outlet mall. Bar and food prices really reasonable for a hotel. Would definitely visit again. Thanks

    « A Jewel in Oxfordshire »

I was delighted with our stay at this extremely well run establishment. The room was very comfortable and clean and the amenities first rate and all in working order. Breakfast was a delight and the choice on offer excellent, along with the quality of the food items themselves. It was lovely to have poached eggs served just how I like them and without either the white being under cooked or the egg so well cooked the yoke had gone hard. The evening meals in the restaurant although a little limited on choice was great value for money and very tastey. All in all you would be hard pushed to find a better hotel if you are visiting Oxford or the lovely villages that surround. A special thanks to Kate on reception who advised on teh park and ride for Oxford city centre that not only saved us on considerable parking charges in the City centre itself but also on the stress and nerves of trying to find a parking place. For info the park and ride was just over 7 miles about twenty minutes by car and cost £2 for 11 hours parking and £4.80 for two adults return bus fare. Whilst in the city centre we saw cues of stationary traffic waiting to get access to the multistory carparks so we were even more grateful for the tip. Seriously good hotel, and for those that like golf it has a very handy golf course too. Its only drawback and it really is not that big a drawback is its location which I would say is very rural, great for country walks and golf but you will need your car.

    « Very comfortable hotel »

I suspect the reason for the lower than expected price is that it is a bit too damp to play much golf, and I will be interested to see what the prices are like in the Spring and Summer. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with the rate I paid for a room and breakfast and it is a very comfortable hotel. Being an avid golfer it was very interesting to see the Tony Jacklin photos and images adorning the hotel reception and the golfers bar. The bedroom was very modern and comfortable with high quality fixtures and fittings. I had dinner in the bar with a client, and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice indeed. The reception staff and the two guys in the golfers bar were very friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and I look forward to returning.

    « Pleasant stay »

Only a brief stay but a pleasant one. Room was comfortable and clean and staff friendly. Requested an iron and ironing board but only a board turned up which made the exercise of ironing a tad pointless! The bar lacked atmosphere as it was very quiet. Possibly due to its remote and quiet location. Worth another try and only 10 minutes from Bicester.

    « Best Western - Oxford, England. »

Pleasant small new hotel in the country, near Oxford. Not much to do near the hotel - apart from the hotel golf course - however near to Oxford and other historic centres, so an ideal and economic place to base oneself. Excellent staff and good service, clean rooms. Security is good and staff friendly and attentive.

« Base for shopping trip to Bicester. »

Booked Saturday morning online, room price £50. Modern room nice and clean. Lovely shower and bathroom, however there was a smell of stagnant water now and again from drains. Ideal as only 7 miles from Bicester Village, so made a good base. Bar is golfers bar but staff friendly and bar is decorated ok. Plenty of parking. On leaving did mention smell, which they we aware of?

    « Excellent Hotel »

Stayed 1 night on business, excellent in every way. Comfort, Service & Food all top notch. If you are playing golf then so much the better as it is clearly a golfing hotel. The only thing I found that could be improved was the speed of the internet/broadband service however it gets there eventually.

    « Could do better. »

I got the distinct impression as soon as we arrived that the hotel was understaffed. Having said that the staff were helpful and friendly, the accommodation comfortable, the food good (although slightly overpriced in my view) and the location and outlook excellent. We stayed on a two night inclusive deal over New Year. The gala dinner in the main restaurant area went well with the help of additional staff although service was on the slow side at other meals. Our evening meal on the second night was served in the small breakfast room which totally lacked the ambiance one would expect at an establishment of this calibre. In summary, lovely location, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation but could do better. I would stay there again.

    « New Years break »

Generally this hotel is ok. Nothing special though. A few issues we had were The small restaurant was insufferable hot. To the point of having to leave in between courses to cool off. The gym has no water to rehydrate you. Same in the sauna/steam rooms Steam room needs updating. Looks very grubby especially the drain. It's the small things that let this hotel down. No tissues in the holder. Didn't have the wine I wanted on the menu. Especially for a new year gala dinner. Under cooked food. But the staff were good.

    « Fantastic service »

I stayed 1 night in a very comfortable room, but it was the ladies on the front desk that really made my stay exceptional. They went well beyond the call of duty helping me with a necklace that had broken and finding a very clever way to make sure I could still wear it for the party I was going to. Also checking on my taxi and helping me back to my room as I had pulled my back. I really appreciated their help as I was travelling alone and they made the stay memorable.

« A little slice of heaven, but not out of the green »

Overall experience is fantastic, couldnt fault the hotel services at all. Only bug bear was finding it. Signs and Lighting from the road are minimal, so you tend to over shoot and turn around. Which on country lanes isnt easy. But really worth it.

« Great Hotel ruined by heating & ventilation problems »

This is a very smart and well presented hotel. The rooms are clean and well appointed with a very nice decor. Our stay was ruined by the very severe over-heating in our room. The controls would not cool the room down and we were unfortunately left with a very hot room. The staff were unable to help and said there was nothing they could do about it. They did not offer to move us either. We were forced to sleep with the windows open as this was the only way the room temperature would fall below 26C -27C. This really was a hassle as the lack of sleep impacted on the preparation for a sporting competition the next day. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and tidy and the shower was excellent. The breakfast was also superb.

    « Company Awayday »

The facilities at Magnolia Park were excellent, as was the accommodation, food and overall service. Best of all were the staff, who were incredibly helpful and friendly. We did not pick the hotel for the golf, but this had no affect on how we were looked after.

    « Fantastic hotel! »

Myself and my husband stayed here in August this year and had a really enjoyable stay, so much that we have just returned from another break at this hotel, this time, we took two friends with us (they loved it too). The hotel is beautiful! Clean, tidy and spacious reception and bar area and lovely dining room for evening meal and breakfast. The there's the rooms...they are something special! We upgraded our room to an executive with balcony, for a small cost this adds a lot of luxury! The beds are incredibly large and comfortable, with lovely white linen. The bathroom is very clean and large too-great walk in shower! Towels were very good quality too-something which a lot of hotels lack! The balconies overlook the golf course, which even as a non golfer, is a lovely view! Bottle of prosecco in ice bucket was very welcome on the first stay, although this was not in the room on second stay, we were offered it in the bar instead, which was nice as we enjoyed it with our evening meal. Where do I start with the food? I think 'exceptional' should cover it! There is plenty of choice for all tastes (yes, some options are repeated but that's not a problem-particularly if it's something you really enjoyed). The presentation and taste of the food is excellent at all times, including breakfast. Every meal we all had was thoroughly enjoyed and savoured! The choice at breakfast time is very good, smoked salmon, eggs benedict, full English, fresh porridge etc, everything you could possibly want, and that's just the cooked selection! There's also a buffet selection of cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurts, meats and cheeses, bread, rolls, jams etc! Plus fresh pots of tea and coffee on request too-what more could you possibly want? We chose this hotel as it was so close to Bicester Villlage, a place we love to visit for a few bargains. Our first visit left us unexpectedly impressed, particularly as we were the only people stating in the hotel on our first night (Sunday), the staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble! They set up a table for two In the restaurant with candles and kept the bar open just for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxed stay in a lovely setting, our friends summed it up by saying they felt chilled out as soon as they walked into the place! My only disappointment is that they are fully booked for their New Years Eve stay, as we all desperately wanted to return for this event! We will have to book earlier next year! We will be returning to this hotel next year, I can't wait!

« Fantastic home from home »

Live in Manchester but work office is in Bicester, so away in hotels a lot. When I am in the area I always stay here. When you walk in its feels like walking into a friends house. Kate on reception is amazing always happy friendly and welcoming, great after a day at work. Rooms have character rather than magnolia boxes and yet to find a bad bed. They have a new chef who makes a great fresh menu changes all the time so there's always something you fancy. Richard on the bar is good banter of a evening and Ben the manager always asks how's everything is and is actually interested rather than just paying lip service making you feel a valued customer. Do yourself a favour and pay an extra tenner here rather than staying with Lenny Henry and his mates you won't regret it!

Hotel: Clean, decent sized rooms, walk in shower, free Wifi. Looks as if it has been recently done up. Really friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Golf: Played 2 rounds: Its a fun course with a good balance of risk verses reward. Not too hard, not too easy. Excellent greens. Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

« Nice hotel let down by poor dining »

Nice hotel friendly staff Emphasis is golf not hospitality Good room nice and clean Meal at dinner good but both dining rooms cold and unappealing. We ate in the golf bar which reduced the experience of a good meal. Breakfast a disaster only time I have ever been served tea ready brewed in the teapot and kept lukewarm on a hot plate Cooked breakfast was cold and unpalatable despite our arriving five minutes after stated start of serving time. Pity those whom came down later.

    « Very nice hotel »

I arrived to this hotel quite late, reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The kitchen had just closed. However, the chef reopened the kitchen to serve me. The salmon was delicious. Room was very nice, big, clean and modern. WiFi was on the slow side but fast enough for browsing and emails. After a good night's sleep I went for a jog around the golf course, looked like a nice course. Breakfast was served until 10:30am on a weekday! Lovely cooked breakfast made to order. Overall a lovely hotel not far off the M40 to break up a long drive. Would definitely stay again.

« Great for overnight stay on business »

I had a client in Oxfordshire to visit and rather than brave the rush-hour M25 traffic from Kent, decided to get a hotel nearer. This actually came up cheaper than a Travelodge at short notice which surprised me, because you certainly get much more than a Travelodge experience here. Food was very good and well presented (although they'd ran out of steak, which is a shame as I love steak!). Bar staff were courteous, although oddly they lock the reception door late at night, so had to request it to be unlocked to get something from my car. The WiFi was... functional, not amazingly fast, but it was free so I can't complain there. Would definitely stay again.

« Not as Professional as it appears »

The positives are a i) nice room and facilities ii) lovely shower iii) large car park iv) nice breakfast But the negatives are a) poor reception greeting b) incorrect booking arrangements c) limited evening menu (same one on two nights) d) slowest wi-fi possible e) no management available who could make decisions, even on checking out. f) overcahrged (but see b) The hotel appears to be run by inexperienced employees with no management at all during the evenings. Despite showing staff my e-mail confirmation they still continued to 'follow the computer' and muck up the final bill. g) whilst the hamburger was nice the second offering of chicken was diabolical and not to be recommended if your hungry. The starters of chicken satay was not cooked in places. h) The evening bar staff were helpful but managed to charge me for steak rather than the correct meals mentioned above. j) No prosecco left in room as my booking had stated in fact there was no prosecco at all in the bar. But the pinot grigio was nice, although they charged for this as well! Despite querying it all on check out the receptionist was absolutely no help at all. Overall, a frustrating experience and one to avoid in future.

    « Annual Golf Weekend »

Just enjoyed our annual chase a little white ball round the countryside weekend. Fantastic course, but bring your best putter, greens were running at what seemed like 20 on the stimpmeter!!! Great food and service all around. I've seen complaints elsewhere for Kate the receptionist, but find the criticism unfounded as she was very pleasant, and helped with any problems, professionally, even laughing along when I FaceTimed the dog (and Mrs), though the room keycards were a bit of an issue. Only thing that ruined a brilliant weekend, was my inability to play the last round on the Monday, due to wrist pain, which I've subsequently discovered to be a broken scaphoid, no doubt as a result of the great "hospitality" of the bar staff, with that, a big thank you to Richard behind the jump, keep the blue flag flying high mate!!! Magnolia Park g&c club is a resort I shall definitely be visiting in the future. Cheers to everyone for a cracking break, quite literally!!!!

« Polite, proffessional, and friendly staff, excellent Rural location, Clean, Modern rooms & Great food »

Thought after my fifteenth stay since March '15 it was about time I shared on line, what a pleasant experience it is to stay at The Magnolia Park Hotel! Was keeping it quiet as Being a regular here along with a dozen proffessional work colleagues, who also prefer to stay here, when in the area, For selfish reasons I'm aware if I say too many nice things, there is less chance of availability! however after reading last weeks negative reviews regarding staff, I wonder if the reviewers had had too much bubbly? PLEASE DONT let their reviews put you off staying here! food is great, Rooms modern & clean and the staff can't do enough! All check in staff are polite, efficient & proffesional! Without exception. I travel all the way from the North and Always get a friendly welcome! I usually book in advance BECAUSE The hotel is so popular! Would highly recommend your stay for any Event, Leisure or Business!

    « Great weekend Stay »

Staying at Magmolia Park on regular basis for business, I love the look of the course so I decided to organise a 2 night golf break with friends. i have to say the course play great and is very challenging. We all had a great weekend, the bar stayed open til early hours of the morning for us, staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was great as always. Would definitely recommend it for both business and leisure.

    « Utter Chaos!! »

I recently visited the Magnolia for a wedding reception. the wedding was beautiful and the food served excellent. HOWEVER........the receptionist was totally clueless about how to address and treat the guests. She was patronising on more than one occasion and appeared totally unaware of which guest was staying in which room. I had to go to reception 3 times due to the door key card not functioning and apparently I was one of the lucky ones!!! Other wedding guests had to go back to the reception on numerous occasions due to the same problem, one set of friends had to change rooms twice due to door keys not functioning, another family in the wedding party had pre booked a room but were then informed that there were none available, people had drinks charged to their rooms which had never been ordered and in general it was utter chaos. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

« Very poor wedding experience »

after a great deal of searching we finally decided to book my daughters wedding at the magnolia hotel and golf club .the package we were offered was on par with other places ,the setting was nice and after being told by the wedding planner that the evening guests would have a free buffet we decide to book (this offer was then withdrawn once it came to pay final deposit ). We where told the hotel would be reserved for us as it is only 30 rooms . Every thing was sorted and we all began to look forward to it about a month before guests that had booked started to say they had not (EVEN THE BRIDE AND GROOM) we contacted magnolia was assured every thing was ok and received a conformation email with a list of bookings . On Friday . As guests started to arrive they where once again told they hadn't booked ,once this was sorted out there where told if they want ed to eat in the restaurant they would have to decide there and then . After booking a room with a double bed two of our elderly guests went to enquire why they had two singles to which the dopey receptionist replayed " oh sorry has this spoiled your night of passion " they found this totally offensive . On the fri 18 of our party had chosen to eat and sat down at 8 pm having pre ordered there was one other table of four and that was it at 8.45 starters came out then they were taken away as the waiters didn't know the difference between table of 18 and a table of 4 after we had all finally got our starters and eaten them out came the mains minus one dinner they had forgot .then came the wedding day we all arrived at breakfast at different times as breakfast was at between 7.30 and ten but once 9.30 came you had to hold on and protect the plates or they were taken I spoke to the manager and told him every thing and I was promised all the mistakes would be sorted we had the speeches before the meal and this was all arranged in the next room the golfers were back and we're giving there presentations .surely with at bit of planning this could of been avoided .the meal was fantastic. And the rest of the day went smoothly the Buffett came out with hardly any plates but the rest was fine as we all started to check out once again there were problems as dopey the receptionist didn't, have a clue I WOULD ADVICE any one booking this venue to get every thing in writing and triple check everything before the big day so there are no disappointments
