    « Excellent find »

We stayed here whilst attending a wedding a few miles away. We arrived expecting a big, impersonal hotel from a large chain but we couldn't have been more wrong. Instead it had the feel of a cosy country house hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room we had was large with a great view over the golf course (only complaint was that the TV didn't work). We found that there was no noise from the golf course or the railway line so we had a peaceful sleep. The only problem was the noisy family down the corridor - the children were great but the parents weren't (the type who let their kids go knocking on grandparents' doors to wake them up early in the morning, followed by running races up and down the corridor - all well before breakfast had started) We will definitely be back.

« A little tired but a small and friendly hotel perfect for a quiet night away »

Me and my husband stayed here over the weekend. I had mentioned on booking (only a few days beforehand) that it was my husbands birthday so could we have a nice quiet room. We arrived fairly late and were given our room key, to find we had been allocated the bridal suite! And they had very kindly left some drinks and a note for my husband to wish him happy birthday... Such a lovely touch! The rooms and hotel in general are slightly old fashioned and a bit tired decor wise BUT spotlessly clean and a nice big comfy bed. The bar was quite small and definitely seemed to lend itself more to a golfers bar than somewhere for a nice drink as a couple! But not really an issue for us :) We treated ourselves to breakfast in bed which arrived lovely and hot shortly after we phoned with our order! Overall would definitely stay again, the staff were lovely and friendly and the views and location were also a winner! Great value for money. Thank you again!

« A very welcome change to the norm! »

I've enjoyed staying at this Hotel many times over the last few years and have always found the team there to be welcoming, friendly and incredibly helpful. The Bar/Restaurant facilities are fine for my tastes, and whilst there is a TV in the lounge bar, its not intrusive and is there to help guests to relax whilst enjoying a drink or a bar meal. During the wnter months there is even a welcoming fire in the old

    « Sunday Lunch ???? »

Disappointing, just two of us in the restaurant and it was almost as if we weren't there. Small portions of starter which was far from exciting. Vegetables were broccoli and frozen peas which had not been properly drained as there was still water in the bottom. Small amount of mash blobbed on - at £49.95 for two I think it was a rip off to be honest - perhaps Because it was a Groupon ?deal ?? - we paid a good price for this and for £25 per person did not feel it was good value for money at all - sorry.

    « Excellent »

We have just returned from the hotel after having an excellent Sunday lunch for four people. We all had three courses There was a good choice for each course and the portions were very generous. We had a Groupon deal which meant we did not pay full price for the meal. But I would willingly pay full price in the future as what we had today was excellent. From entering the hotel we were cared for attentively and efficiently from the receptionist, bar staff and waitresess. The bar area and restaurant were pleasantly decorated and every were looked clean and cared for. Would recommend and we will be returning.

« Really good Sunday Lunch. Good menu choices. »

We have just had a really good quality Sunday lunch here on a Groupon deal. We chose three courses from the normal menu and were very impressed. Good varied choice of meals. Excellent hot home made soup and lovely mackerel pate starters followed by a first class Sunday roast beef dinner. Vegetables were really fresh and perfectly cooked. Plenty of meat and lovely gravy. The only slight downside was that one of the desserts, a lemon drizzle cake, was served smothered in a butterscotch sauce which wasn't as described. However the meal overall was excellent. The service was prompt and very friendly. We will certainly return here.

« Really great hotel for exploring the Forest of Bowland »

This is the second time we have stayed here. Two years ago we spent two days here and thoroughly enjoyed the stay, so decided to come back for 5 days. Although the welcome was friendly I think they were short staffed when we arrived, so it not as warm a welcome as before. On our first evening we wanted an evening meal. We were recommended to have our meal in the bar rather than the restaurant. The receptionist said that someone would take our order. We chose a table by the window which had recently been vacated. No one took any notice of us and we had to ask for a menu and also for them to clear and clean the table. We also had to wait a while before they took our order. There was only one couple in the bar so they were not rushed off their feet. This was not good start to an otherwise great stay. We had a quiet room which was well appointed. The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked. For the remainder of our stay the staff were very attentive.

« Professional and friendly service »

From start to finish the staff listened to what I required for my 60th birthday celebration with 43 family and friends. The Ribble Suite was the ideal size of room for the tables and disco with the private bar in the adjoining room for those who wished to talk more. The meal was delicious and well served. The room we booked for the night, and those of my other guests were clean and modern with excellent facilities and we had a lovely view over the garden. Also it was quiet so we could sleep well. There was plenty of choice, including vegetarian, for breakfast, cooked and continental.

« Excellent wedding venue, dated hotel. »

We have recently attended a wedding here and as a wedding venue the hotel can't be faulted. As a hotel however the decor particularly in the rooms is need of a serious update. The breakfast has plenty of options and is very good. The staff during the wedding were extremely helpful and provided an excellent service. A couple of members of staff were on occasion slightly short tempered when you asked a question. I would recommend for a wedding but would not choose to stay again soon.

    « Nice and peaceful »

We attended a wedding here earlier in the month of March 2018. Despite it being very cold outside (Beast from the East was in full effect) The building and rooms were very warm. Upon arrival, aesthetically the building is rustic looking and nice. The recpeption area was a bit difficult to find as it's tucked away down a side area. The bar area is nice and cosy and the staff are very welcoming. During the wedding set up and delivery the whole hotel was extremely helpful. I would definitely reccomend this hotel.

    « Decent place »

I have stayed here for couple of nights recently. Decent, well-mainted hotel surranounded by golf courses. The staff is nice and helpful the food is adequate. I really loved the fresh fruit salad on the breakfast buffett. I had a nice, comfy room , big telly and reliable Wi-Fi. What else you need.

    « Lovely afternoon tea »

Just returned from Mytton Fold after having a lovely afternoon tea. We were greeted with friendliness and the table was already set up for our arrival. We were presented with a choice of loose leaf teas which were very varied. The teapot was replenished with hot water without a need to ask. The afternoon tea was set out on a wooden tray which contained fresh sandwiches, hot quiche,a variety of cakes and a scone. There was also a small pot of jelly and a small soft drink. It was a very quiet afternoon but that didn't spoil the experience. We used a 2 for 1 voucher so the total of £12.50 for two was very good value. From today's experience I can recommend this despite previous reviews suggesting the contrary.

    « Afternoon tea treat »

Visited for afternoon tea and was pleased that our table was ready for us on arrival and set out with pretty flowers. Chloe on reception was very friendly and helpful as was our waitress but sadly we do not have her name. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea it was fresh and well presented. We will be back. It brightened up a cold and dreary day.

A terrible experience service awful food just as bad felt like we weren't there waited 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us food came in a crate like a child's birthday party cream borderline off .If you are going to do afternoon tea do it right for heavens sake this was an extra birthday treat for me that we had to tell our daughter who booked it for us that it was awful as we didn't want her to wate her money on anyone Else going

« Friendly, Helpful Staff, Great Value »

I book a two rooms as my dad and I were going to attend my Great Aunts 95th Birthday. When we arrived we booked for an evening meal and were offered the option to eat in the restaurant or the bar area, we chose the latter. The staff were friendly, the food was fantastic and very good value ? nice log fire in the bar area to keep the cold and rain at bay! The bar has a good selection of real ale ? not something you see all that often. Although we only stayed the one night the location was great, the rooms clean and very comfortable, the food good and the service excellent. My complements to the management and staff, it made our stay very pleasant one.

    « Average afternoon tea »

Afternoon tea was quite nice although you could tell it had been lying around. The top sandwich was stale as was the brownie. The rest was fine though the scone was tiny. Plenty of tea. Staff all very pleasant however.

« Good for one night bed and breakfast but do not pay for a four poster bed »

I took my husband here for his birthday and a couple of days golf, prior to going on a week long holiday to Wales. I chose what looked like a delightful room that was described as having a four bed poster bed that I thiught would be quite romantic .On arrival, we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who gave us directions to our room which turned out to be some distance away. We were very disappointed to find that there was no lift as with two large suitcases, it was difficult getting the suitcases roung the bendy staircase but the bedroom was ok 2/3 star accomodation and adequate, however, the four poster bed consisted of nothing more than four bits of painted timber, one stuck in each corner of the bed, not at all like the last four poster bed my husband had booked in a different hotel which had character and beautiful drapes. We had a wander around outside but couldn't find anywhere close by within safe, well lighted walking distance to eat so were glad that we had booked to eat in the hotel restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant at the booked time, it was empty and there were no staff about so we waited just inside, someone popped in and looked us and then went away again so we continued to wait and wait. Eventually, somebody did come to look after us but it was quite obvious that they had not expected us so perhaps that explains the long wait and not particularly friendly service. The menu did not offer very much by way of choice but was ok but I was not at all impressed with my main course, which was over cooked and, considering the price, was nothing special. On the second day, we were out on the golf course, I only spectate but my husband was very impressed by the staff, the facilities and the course and would highly recommend it. It was a damp and somewhat chilly day so we arrived back at our room, cold and damp and ready for a hot shower. I went into the bathroom to find that all the towels were very damp and one of them was very dirty. I then had to trek all the way back to reception with the towels and asked for replacement ones so that I could take them back with me. I appreciate that I could have rang room service but there was a wedding going on and I know that the staff were very busy and we wanted to shower a soon as possible. In the evening, we once more ventured into the dining room and again the service when we entered was, like the food, nothing special. I particularly remember the Lemon Tiramisu which was totally tasteless and quite unpalatable. My husband tasted it too and said it wasn't worth eating unless I was particularly hungry!. When the waitress came to take our dishes away, I thought she might have asked if everthing was ok with my dessert as I had not eaten it but she did not so I told her that I could not recommend it as it was tasteless, perhaps she could mention it to the chef. She seemed a little uneasy after she had told us that a couple on a previous day had made the made the same comment but she would mention it but I really appreciated her honesty and thanked her for it and also for the good service she had provided us with. When we left, I went to reception to settle the bill and saw a different lady who asked me if we had enjoyed our stay and so I told her that apart from the golf, then it had not been a great success and I told her all the problems and disappointments that we had encountered including the disappointing evening meals which we had had to endure on two days because we had been unable to find a better alternative close by. I also told her that it was my practice to write reviews on Trip Advisor and that I would think long and hard before reviewing this particular hotel. Her response was she did not like to read write bad reviews about the hotel and it was not the fault of the hotel that there was nowhere else close by that we could have eaten at. I thought this to be quite an odd comment as I had not actually complained about the remoteness but had just mentioned it to explain why we had not gone elsewhere on the second night. I was expecting her to comment on the dirty/wet towels, poor food, 4 poster bed design etc. but she did not. I also think that elsewhere, the bill might have been reduced but I paid it in full and left never to return again.

« Friendly, clean and good value »

Stayed here while visiting family friends as it was convenient and my partner knows the owners. It's a clean, friendly 3 star hotel with a very good breakfast which beats many places I've stayed at recently. We had an executive room which was large and had a large modern bathroom. The room overall though was quite dated and the bed mattress was almost U shaped! It really does need to be modernised and brought to a more 4 star standard. That said it was good value compared to local alternatives and the staff couldn't be friendlier.

    « Family + dog »

We had a family room for 2 adults /2 children plus our Labrador - the hotel & grounds were perfectly dog friendly. Comfortable beds for all (kids beds often aren't), a great shower and anything you could possibly want for breakfast. We will be back.

« Fabulous pre Xmas stopover »

Fabulous time had by all, arrived to a warming and welcoming Jennifer on reception who checked us in and directed us to our rooms; our Nan had a disabled access room on the ground floor complete with wet room and disabled facilities. We had a room just a little way along, equally as good with a dog basket, blanket and bowl, a lovely touch. Both rooms were tasteful decorated and welcoming. We had arranged to eat out however, we opted to stay in with the roaring fire place. The gammon, chicken korma, homemade peppered steak pie and nachos topped with bbq pulled pork and garlic bread were well worth the choice and a reasonable £43. Breakfast consisted of both hot and cold choices served by a very lovely lady with toast in the rack (how it should be) cereals, spreads, waffles, muffins, pastries, jams as well as the option of full English (choice of eggs) porridge and for extra extra special selections of egg benedict and kippers. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will definitely return. Well done staff you're a credit to the hotel.

    « Friendly Hotel »

If you want a boutique style hotel this is not for you but if you want friendly caring staff, clean spacious rooms and good wholesome food then it is. We requested a room change and the request was dealt with professionally and with good grace. The staff were always eager to please and you felt as though they had your best interests at heart

Went here to my niece's wedding venue. It was awfull!! My room was OK but basic & was too hot day & night however my sisters & my friends room was very cold. My friends kettle was broken she went to reception to tell them a girl came up with some milk instead of sorting out a kettle, my sister went to reception about the room being cold & only having just 1 bath towel in the room despite being 2 of them, this fell on deaf ears. The evening meal was cold not on warm plates there was a tablespoon of mash 2 roast potatoes which was frozen & was not fully cooked through turkey was cold with a smidgen of watery gravy. Worse meal ever.!!! My sisters & her husband soup was only luke warm & their meal wasn't good either. The breakfast was a disgrace & I wouldn't have fed it to a dog. Later on in the night they put out bacon & sausage with buns, there was quite a lot of bacon left & that's what we got rock hard bacon on our breakfast that had been warmed up from the leftovers from the previous night the mushrooms were tinned that had been fried & when u bit into them it was water & grease came out, the fried egg was hard & greasy the fried bread was awfull & the potatoes on it was warmed up! The sausage was full of grease & gristle Six of our party all left the breakfast. I myself cut the end off my sausage & thats all i had from it. We all said a back street cafe would have served a better quality breakfast for around £3.95. The worse breakfast we have ever had. The wedding venue part was OK nothing extraordinary though. 2 people out of our party complained about their issues with the rooms & also the breakfast all the receptionist said was she would pass it on to the management. The bedding was stained & dirty & so was the pillows & cases, cheap thin duvets & holes in dated carpets. Im sure all the 9 people in our party that stayed there would not recommend this hotel. I no for definite that 6 of our party wouldn't.

    « Needs updating »

Stayed here two days ago for the wedding of my niece. Paid £76 for room, we had no soap and the smallest bottle of shower gel I have seen anywhere. Only one bath towel when we arrived so asked reception for a second on at 2.30pm. When going to bed at 10.45pm no towel had been left, the bathroom mirror didn't light up either. The wedding was conducted in the Abbey suite and to get to it you had to walk around the building from reception and the small bar area. Good job it was a dry day as you would have been soaked had it been raining although there was a good few umbrellas in reception obviously for such emergency. The food for the wedding was palatable the first course we had was soup which was just luke warm but the main dish was warm enough. The evening reception served bacon and sausage tea cakes which were fine. The following morning I think they served the remnants of the bacon up for the cooked breakfast as it was inedible as was most cooked breakfasts that we served. I personally had fruit and poached eggs which were lovely. Unfortunately my husband ordered a cooked breakfast which he couldn't eat. They need to find a way you can get from one side of the venue through the building for guests convenience and change the chef. Management should be asking why so many plates of food were returned to the kitchen untouched.

A great experience and definately one of the best hotels and service in the Best Western group. Brilliant service and excellent rooms, I didnt realise they also had a goldf course, I will definately be back but will extend my trip to include a game on the the excellent looking course.

Stayed there the other night, very nice rooms, great staff. All good until you fancy a coffee in the morning and you check the kettle. If I had of used it first before checking I would still be throwing up. They the door handle came off in my 3 year olds hand. At £109 a night we paid you would expect a clean kettle.

« Friendly staff great breakfast »

Spent an overnight stay here after attending a lovely wedding. The room was very clean with all you need for a comfortable stay. The reception was a little cramped , as an earlier wedding were taking their group photos as we were trying to book in but lady on reception was very professional and helpful. Breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful and the quality of the food was outstanding and well cooked and presented.

« Friendly staff, lovely breakfast economy room »

Spent two nights here. Welcomed nicely by Chloe and looked aftervwell by all personnel despite two weddings on during one night of our stay. Breakfast plentiful and tasty . Hotel buildings, corridors tired and need updating. Room acceptable but beds and linen of basic quality, also room lacked daylight. Had our room and furnishings therein been better would have happily awarded 4*

« John Bradbury & Family from Cambridgeshire. »

Excellent service. They could not do enough for us. We must be your worst scenario - 2 adults, 2 grandchildren and 2 dogs, but wow! All well behaved, including me! The staff were most welcoming across the board and treated us all, including the dogs as a family and nothing was too much trouble (that's why boys and dogs loved you all). Thanks to you all for a first class plus service for us all. Words don't do you justice nor can they adequately describe how good our stay was. We will definitely be back

« rather gloomy look from the outside »

Entrance way to the hotel looks rather dull as the daylight fades in the early evening. No mention of free gift as a card holder. Breakfast cooked to order and offered a fair choice. Evening meal was good with a reasonable choice of dishes, but service rather slow as only a few guests there at the time. room was of good size but mattress was very soft.

« Most dreadful experience with no internal character »

Though this place looks tremendous from the outside it was let down on our first night as previously mentioned by a TA. Other guests behaviour. Now everyone should have a tremendous wedding day experience however not at the expense of other guests staying on the same night and following day. I had booked a 4 night stay B&B with a table booked for the first night for my wife's 70Th dinner, everything was OK apart from being stuck in a side room totally uncharactaful apart from the birthday balloon my sister had brought along in celebration, food was OK waiting staff tremendous. Now to bedtime as we retired we were disturbed at 2300Hrs by someone knocking on our bedroom door, small child lost maybe but it again happened at 0100HRS woke us but did not answer however maybe we should have because we were again woken by knocking at our door at 0200Hrs during these hours you could hear the constant running up and down the corridor of tiny little feet, note there is a notice on the entrance door to the corridor asking guests to be considerate, but what was most disturbing was someone tapping on our bedroom window at 0345Hrs. Altogether our worst nights stay in either an Hotel, B&B, Hostel, Campsite or any other type of accommodation since we got married 44 Years ago. However the story does not end there , we got up for breakfast buffet on the first morning and it was not nice we ate what we could and went back to our room 155 for a lie down and once again the knocking on the door started children again however at approx. 1100Hrs I was in the en-suite wet room having a shave when water started pouring through the emergency light fitting over the door, I of course got drenched in either tap/bath or toilet water I will never know as no one got back to us to see if everything was OK. My wife did immediately call reception to tell them of the problem and I proceeded to mop up the water that was all over the floor by both dirty and clean towels keeping one back for our own use which is a good job as no one from housekeeping replenished the towels until Thursday and this was after asking reception twice. I am also most concerned that no one from maintenance came to check our room. Now I was layed up for 2 full days and did not leave the room until breakfast Thursday morning which I have to say was beautiful and waitress service. We had spoken of our problem on the Monday night to the head waitress and she said they were aware of the situation this was also told to me by another long time guest who told me that guest had been and seen the manager. Now to leaving time hooray, paid the bill £467.55P asked if the stay was OK and said no in respect of our first night and following morning and I was asked if management had been to see us which was a BIG NO. This was supposed to have been a surprise for my wife's 70Th birthday which it was but it was not a nice time for her or me. We will not be back however all of the shop floor staff we met were of a tremendous calibre.

Bad attitude in reception - massive gypsy wedding going on on arrival and they SAID - they had no booking for me.... rubbish !! they had given rooms to wedding guests . Will never darken their dreadful doors again!!!

    « Restaurant ?? Not really »

Not sure what to say. We entered reception which looked lovely and welcoming. The receptionist pointed to where we should go and said one of the staff would serve us. The corridor we walked down toward the restaurant was strange like a conservatory but only the width of a corridor. We were led into a room which certainly wasn't a restaurant, it was a spare room, old carpet no fixtures and the tables looked like they had been borrowed from a function room. There was music but certainly no ambiance it was really strange.......We had steak which we cooked on a rock, the steak was nice but one small tomato, 1 mushroom and one slice of onion.a little sparce and we had to pay extra for chips. Dissapointing.........

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding at another venue, my wife is partially disabled so i had booked a easy access room. On arriving the hotel staff where very polite and helpful, the room was clean, warm and there was plenty of room for wheel chair access, this included patio type doors that led to a landscaped area that gave excellent access to the room. The breakfast we had was well cooked and plentiful and the staff where very helpful. even though it was our first stay at this hotel, with the polite and helpful assistance that was given by the staff i never felt unsure about where or what was available. The only slight downside i found, was because we arrived late and it being dark, some of the signage to the hotel was hard to see, but thats me being picky Very enjoyable stay

« Golf weekend for 12, great hotel and golf course with helpful staff »

Stayed at the hotel on a Saturday evening for dinner, bed and breakfast with 2 round of golf. The hotel is in a nice rural area. The staff at the hotel and golf course were helpful and attentive. The party of 12 had a great weekend and the staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful. For 2 rounds of golf on a hilly, challenging course, dinner, bed and breakfast for under £100 this was a great find. The hotel staff could not have been better. From reception, to the bar staff, catering and golf club we had great service who were pleasant and friendly. This is a family run hotel. For the very reasonable fee paid, this is a great mid sized hotel. We will return and thank everyone at the hotel and golf course for a pleasurable visit.

    « Dated... »

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights due to attending a wedding in the area. The hotel is very dated and is in desperate need of modernisation. The cooked breakfast was not very tasty at all. Our room wasn't the best with paper thin walls a mattress that was extremely uncomfortable. The staff are a credit to the hotel it's just a shame that the hotel doesn't match their hard work.

« Wedding ceremony and reception »

We celebrated our wedding here on Saturday 2nd September and it was absolutely perfect! The venue is amazing and we were lucky with the weather meaning we could get married outside. The food for the wedding breakfast was first class, the staff were friendly, welcoming and could not have done anymore to make our day special. We would have no doubt in recommending this venue for a wedding. We stayed in the sleigh bedroom for the bridal suite which was an amazing room. Thank you so much to the management, staff and everyone else at the venue who made our dream day perfect!!

    « Great break...... until »

This hotel is nice, bit dated but nice, the staff (the majority are quite helpful) So why the low mark, well, when you go away with 18 people, and you leave a day before them, how would you feel if one of the group has to text you to find out if you have paid!!! How embarrassing. And when you phone you speak to the owner, she explains that they know who was in the room that have not paid! And it is not your room!!! Or even someone with your party!!! And then pass the phone to the party organiser! Like they could do anything. It is quite clear that the admin in this hotel is very poor! The owner approached my group! And despite knowing the name of the guest! And the room they had been in. Didn't bother asking if that person had paid, just simply said we hadn't. For the record we had paid! The owner claimed she was being 'Diplomatic' Wow!!! They either have poor admin or poor customer relation skills. Either way, the embarrassment they have caused is not worth it. I was going to compliment them until this happened!!

Stayed here 12/8/12 booked 20 rooms we arrived late at night staff were very helpful escorting us to our rooms. Needs a bit of updating but clean and has everything you need. We were even given our own breakfast room for our party. Breakfast very good well cooked. Teas/coffees a bit slow in coming but they were very busy. Would recommend staying here again. Would repeat that staff very helpful and welcoming on arrival and during our stay. We stayed after Victoria and Adams wedding at tithe barn as there was no accommodation there.

    « Anniversary Break »

The hotel was clean, the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were well appointed, the bed really comfortable, however the hotel lacked atmosphere especially in the dining room. We were basically dining on our own and we were disappointed in the quality of the evening meal. Dining room staff need to make themselves more visible! Breakfast was adequate and I had Eggs Benedict which was very tasty.

    « Short stay »

The hotel was very pleasant, comfortable and friendly. If you needed anything they were on hand to assist. The room was basic but very comfortable with ensuite, clean and maintained well. Ideal for reasonably priced accommodation in a wonderful part of the country.

    « Last minuite break »

Very friendly staff, very welcoming on arrival. Think the rooms could do with a little TLC, light bulbs missing or not working, shower curtain not fitted properly also the curtain in bedroom had hooks missing so curtain hung off rail, the main issue was the quilt cover.. think it was a king size quilt with a double cover on it so half the quilt wasnt covered it was just tucked under the bed to hide it. On the plus side tea/coffee making facilities and the breakfast was good. Also the hotel surroundings are suberb

    « Weekend stay »

I had a very good weekend at the Mytton Fold, I was just staying as it was my dads 60th down the road and we needed somewhere to sleep but I'm glad we chose this hotel as it was a pleasure to stay at with nice rooms, lovely bar staff (Chantelle and the Night Porter) I would stay again when in the area and would recomend it.

« Nice location, friendly staff »

We stayed 4 nights. There were 3 adults in the room. It was a quiet location in the countryside, only one night was noise an issue from a high school prom at the facility. We did not eat there. The room was clean but the decor tired and the lighting very poor. Plenty of towels/ good shower and fresh milk for tea/coffee.

« The hottest breakfast plate in the universe »

Lovely countryside location. Decor a bit tired. Receptionist sparky despite seeming to be the only member of staff late on a Sunday night. My request for an iron and ironing board was positively and quickly responded to. She almost got back to my room before I did. And like I said, the hottest plate at breakfast that ever singed a tablecloth. I don't know how it got to the table by human hand. I have a thing about standing in a bath to shower with a rubber shower curtain. Don't like it. And there's always a puddle on the floor after . . .

    « Nice place »

We stayed here in June, it's a good hotel for the one night we stayed. The room was really nice and clean and everything was what you would expect. It was a little hard to find, but that was us not being local. Also the room was very hot and the heating is controlled from reception. I would stay here again and breakfast was excellent.

    « Good wedding venue »

Visited for a friend's wedding in June 2017, overall it's a good wedding venue. The staff were all excellent and very helpful, the function space itself was spacious and tastefully decorated. The accomodation and breakfast was also of a very good standard.

    5
    « Lovely friendly place »

Spent the evening here celebrating a family event. The food was really good and plenty of it in the evening. We'd booked rooms to stay over, which were comfortable and clean. There was a large, good choice at breakfast. I can honestly say the staff were all friendly and helpful, nothing being too much trouble. A very nice relaxing stay.

    « Stunning golf course. »

What a course, challenging, very well kept and stunning scenery. Very helpful in the golf shop and lovely, friendly service in the bar. Gorgeous G&T served correctly, enjoyed sitting in the pretty courtyard. Can't wait to play again.

    « A brilliant time spent here »

My hubby and I celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary here in the Ribble Suite with a party and it was a fabulous evening from start to finish. The venue is first class in a beautiful part of the Ribble Valley. The room itself was well set out for the comfort of our guests with a dance floor for the disco etc. The fork buffet was excellent and tasty with something for everyone and lots of it, and all our guests remarked on how much they enjoyed it. Hubby and I along with our extended family all stayed in the hotel overnight after the party and were more than happy with our rooms which had everything we needed and very reasonably priced especially when taking into account the lovely breakfast, both continental and cooked. And as there had been a wedding in the Abbey Suite on the same night there were a lot of guests to provide breakfast for as everyone seemed to be down to breakfast at the same time but the food was excellent with lots of choice and quickly replenished. The dining rooms were very well set out with tables for everyone. This family hotel is very comfortable and friendly. The family and all their staff work very hard and nothing is too much trouble. They are all friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation and/or venue, good food and a round of golf if required on the picturesque and challenging course.

    « Grip par open »

Fabulous family run hotel and golf club. Nothing too much trouble for any member of staff. Lovely clean, comfortable and homely rooms. Food delicious and excellently presented. Golf course challenging and very well looked after. Can't wait to go back !!!! Would very highly recommend.

    « My cousins wedding »

We attended my cousins wedding here on Saturday 20th may and had a great time. Me and my family stayed overnight following the wedding and had an enjoyable stay, room was comfortable and breakfast very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Cannot thank the staff enough for making my cousins day so happy!

Arrived mid afternoon the receptionist was very helpful and arranged the booking of a taxi to and from a wedding venue we were attending. The room was comfortable The breakfast cost £10 Was good value.

« Overnight Stay Following Function at Hotel »

We stayed for one night as we were attending a function in the hotel. Service at the function, in a separate building with no covered walkway between the main hotel and the main function suite, was good. Food was reasonable, nothing special, but service quick for around 80 people. We stayed in the main part of the hotel, I believe there are some outer (maybe newer) room also. Room was dated by modern standards. Floor boards very squeaky both inside and outside the room. Breakfast was a small buffet selection of cereals & fruits, plus a cooked to order full English. The breakfast was well cooked and enjoyable and the service very good.

    « Check your invoice! »

I would advise all to check their receipt/invoice closely! My friend paid for the room as a treat for me, and only £20 was knocked off the room as deposit. We paid £40 deposit, but despite numerous phone calls we are £20 out of pocket. Also, the kettle shelf fell to the floor at teatime spilling water into my friends shoes - we reported this to reception but didn't even get a proper apology. The room was basic, with no fridge, although the bathroom was very good.

    « Not a very pleasant stay »

Stayed at Mytton Fold whilst house hunting in the Ribble Valley area. First night was awful, as there were rowdy guests from a wedding party in the hallways and stairs (just next to our room). We were told in the morning that police had to be called as there was some damage. Also advised that the next night would be better but no offer to reduce our bill. The next night was better but wouldn't stay there again. Beware......if you book check to see if there are any weddings taking place, if so and you still want to stay at Mytton ask for a room far enough way where there is peace and quiet. I actually stayed in January 2016 but can't post this far back enough, hence it is showing as May 2016.

    « Wedding venue »

We attended a family wedding here and the place is fab! Loved our room on the first floor (got a little warm during the night but it's not a disaster) Breakfast was good despite the small hangover! Drinks prices were reasonable for a hotel and the staff were all really helpful and friendly! Would definitely come back!

    « Wedding »

Spent two nights in this hotel, we were not expecting a good nights sleep as when we arrived around 2:15pm they were catering for two weddings. We checked in then checked out the room, it was fine, it had all you would expect including an ironing board. The evening meal was fine and priced from £8. To £20. Depending on the dish. Drinks were around £3.50 a pint so not bad for a hotel. With two weddings in full swing we trotted off to bed around midnight, we heard nothing of either wedding party and had a good nights sleep. At breakfast we got talking to a couple of local people who told us we should have gone across the road to a local pub where prices were really cheap, £1.80 a pint and meals less than £12. Never mind the buffet breakfast was OK full English and continental, we had more than enough. We had a little walk around, the golf course looked in good condition, the entire estate was clean and tidy. Then back to the room to get ready for transport to Mytton Hall for our wedding.

« Good for the price! »

Right off the bat the reception was excellent. We had large bags and no elevator and several doors that we struggled to get through. Large group was in lounge when we arrived. We had gotten to the restaurant before them but they had gotten their orders in before us. The service was only a little off for us but could understand. Terrible smell in our room! Not sure what it was but had window open all day/night. Noise not too bad at night but hallway was very loud early evening. Bathroom was amazing-upgraded. Dated rooms but for the price-ok.

    « WEDDING VENUE »

Our family visited Mytton fold for a wedding 30/3/2017 The whole day was relaxed and well organized Beautiful clean rooms, friendly helpful staff, fresh produce freshly cooked. Great location A++++++++

    3
« Great wedding venue but dated rooms »

Great wedding venue helped by glorious sunshine and lovely gardens. Room spacious and bathroom good. Slightly dated carpets and curtains. One major criticism- no hair driers in the room (available from reception?). I'd imagine that every room was taken by wedding guests so hair driers pretty essential!!

    3
    « Wedding accommodation »

I need to start by saying that the wedding venue for this result is brilliant! The hall and quality of the wedding was of a high standard - my issue was with the accommodation. We had a deluxe rooms which I was hoping would be as high as standard as the venue but it really wasn't. The decor was dated, the shower in the room was broken, the corridors leading to the bridal suite/executive rooms had the noisiest floor boards creaking through the evening from guests going to their rooms. I would recommend it for a wedding but wouldn't pay the price to stop over again.

    5
    « Wedding »

Had our wedding here and it was excellent. Would recommend as a venue to anyone. There were a couple of issues in the early stages of making the booking but they were well resolved. Over the weekend we were well looked after and the service was excellent. Everyone we dealt with was organised, efficient and friendly. They worked hard so our special day was just that. I would also recommend the people they suggest for flowers, room decoration and disco. We got everything we asked for. Food was excellent and nobody went hungry. An awesome day/weekend. Big thanks to all involved.

Good value hotel, with clean and spacious bedrooms. On arrival a warm welcome from a true Lancashire lady on reception. Breakfast and service was excellent, again served by very friendly and attentive staff. A credit to the Hotel service..

    « Good friendly hotel »

This a good hotel, it is very quiet, there is not the  hustle and bustle of city centre hotels, rooms are spacious and very clean. Service is excellent and you always receive a warm welcome at reception. Bar has an open fire which is quite pleasant on a winters evening.

« VERY GOOD FOR A SOCIAL FUNCTION WITH A MEAL »

Attended a social function this afternoon with a Sunday lunch served in the main function room. The food and service was excellent and the ambiance of the room and staff attention was first class. We are looking forward to our next social and dancing on their large dance floor. Well done!

    « V nice & swish »

After the previous night when my company booked us into a hostel I was dubious about this booking. It's not our usual hotel in the area & I disappointed there were no fitness facilities. I needn't have worried, this was one of the best hotels I've stayed in recent years. The staff were a pleasure to deal with, rooms were well laid out & of a high standard. The local village is delightful & was a joy to visit. I've seen previous comments about breakfasts, I thought they were lovely. I had to pay a little extra, £3.50, for a fish dish, this was delicious. Highly recommended & definitely intend to return.

    « A good venue hotel, »

Unfortunately our visit started badly with a very poor reception due to 3 members of staff not recognising basic reception and customer care skills. You only get one chance! ..............fortunately, things did improve. Our room was very warm and comfortable, albeit the mattress was getting a little tired. The en-suite was excellent and a delight to use, lots of hot water, good pressure and comfortable bath. This is a mainly a function and golfing hotel and very busy, many of the public areas are designed to that end. This means that the restaurant doubles as part of a suite of rooms. However, that leaves it lacking ambiance and cosiness. There were a number of events occurring during our stay but we were not disturbed at night. We enjoyed 3 full English breakfasts that were served by a young happy food service team who enjoyed their work. Generally, the staff were professional, very friendly and attentive with a desire to demonstrate a good hospitality skills.

    « Dated »

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights over the weekend. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Unfortunately it was very dated, dusty and unclean. The water pressure and temperature of the shower wasn't ideal, especially when getting ready in a rush. The room also had a small cupboard door which seemed to rattle when any movement was made from other guests in the corridors or other rooms, which was both noisy and irritating. The only positive of the hotel would be the friendly and welcoming staff.

    « Superb Customer Service.. »

Stayed for just one night at the Mytton Fold Hotel while on business. The hotel was clean, well maintained and cosy. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Special mention to 'Nick' the Food & Beverage Manager. Nick was extremely helpful, sorted a few 'bits and pieces' out for a tired traveller! His attentive approach allowed me to forgive the hotel for the poor mobile phone signal, which I overcome using the free wifi. The room was excellent. Breakfast was going and piping hot. Recommended.

Went here today for a family funeral my husband who is coeliac usually finds it very difficult when the buffet is served to find anything he can eat. As soon as I asked if they had anything gluten free the staff were on to it straight away and he was provided with everything that was on the buffet in gluten free I can't thank them enough fantastic service well done

    « A weekend stop over »

Was part of a wedding party so stopped the. Ugh this before and the night of the wedding. The staff are nice and friendly. Room was ok on the clean front. As has been mentioned before the water pressure and lack of warm water is a joke, and I was in a refurbished room. Even after ten mins it was tepid water temperature. Even at 450am it was useless. The mattress needed replacing if I'm honest. You could feel the springs and it made you both role to the middle. Food for the wedding was ok. There was a massive gap between courses. I think it was going on for an hour between each one. Our table was forgotten for a few things so we had to tell them we had missed out. So better organisation is needed there. It was a beautiful day for our friends and I'm happy, on the whole, that things went smoothly for them.

« Over night stay after evening Wedding reception »

Attended an evening wedding reception and the venue and food was fantastic, the accommodation was ok but the room was clean but not spotless as dust on things. Breakfast was good and check out was swift. Room Was unfortunately next to the stairs on the ground floor and with the noisy floor boards you could hear everyone coming and going on the stairs especially at 6am on a Sunday morning

    5
    « Very welcoming »

We stayed at the hotel as part of an overnight golf package. I must say that the staff were friendly and attentive. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast also, with enough choice to suit all tastes. Accommodation was clean and modern. The golf courses was in good condition, the members friendly and the shop pro was very helpful and inviting. An excellent all round package, and a venue that I would be happy to revisit in the near future.

    « Overnight Stay »

Stayed at this hotel on many occasion. Hotel in in a nice location complete with some lovely grounds and a golf course which also hires buggies. Played the course a couple of times which is a good testing course but would recommend getting a buggy. Staff are very friendly and rooms are up to date and clean. Had a meal at night but to fair on this occasion 1/2 of it was cold. Breakfast has a good selection on a buffet style but again in this instance the toast & eggs were cold but this would not put me off staying here as normally the food as been good.

    2
« Wins the TripAdvisor award for the worst shower EVER »

I can honestly say that this hotel has the most pitiful hot water pressure that I have ever experienced in any hotel ever. The shower was beyond pointless. They have nicely refurbished the bedrooms and bathrooms, but have not bothered to fix their water pressure. Plenty of cold water pressure, but obviously using an antique gravity-fed hot water system. Changing over to pressurized hot water tanks would fix this problem at little cost.

« Good hotel with great staff »

Set on the grounds of a golf course as a golfer i really can't complain about the location. The welcome at check in was very warm, quick and easy. My room was a little bit away from the reception and up a couple of flights of stairs, not an issue for myself but this could be a problem if you have difficult with cases up stairs. I ate of site so can't comment on the restaurant, breakfast was very good, a good selection of cereals and pasties, with attentive happy staff. There is a good sized car park with plenty of spaces. If I'm in the area again, i shall be staying here.

    4
    « Good stopover »

We stayed as we were eating at a restaurant nearby. Most people were staying that night for a wedding, and despite a little late night noise from a neighbour, the big party wasn't a problem. Our room was a decent size, everything you need, though the bed wasn't very big - just a standard double I think. The whole decor of the room, though clean and tidy, just seemed a bit old and uninspiring. Have to say I prefer Premier Inns. Wifi worked fine and the staff were friendly and helpful. Of course a big draw for the place is having its own golf course - but we didn't use that. Nor did we have breakfast, which was quite a bit extra, on top of a mid-range room price, but a decent stopover nonetheless.

    « Shame I don't play Golf »

Having stayed here for a few nights found the hotel and staff really nice with plenty of car parking space. The grounds looked amazing, but I don't think that they would appreciate me playing golf here as last time I played the grass went further than the ball.

« Fantasic from start to end. »

Our Daughter recently got married and held both her ceremony and reception at the hotel. The day was well organised and as the weather was glorious the grounds provided a great back drop to the photos and somewhere for the guests to sit in the sunshine and enjoy drinks . We had booked a room overnight and requested an early check in so that when we arrived ahead of the ceremony we could cater for our young grandson , however our room wasn't ready but a very helpful member of staff let us use another room which was a display of great customer service. All the staff throughout the day were helpful and courteous . The bedroom was of a good standard and the breakfast was excellent. This hotel is a little gem which I would highly recommend .

Recently attended my niece's wedding at Mytton Fold Hotel and Golf Club - the hotel was clean, nice room, good food. The wedding was lovely from start to the end. « Good basic hotel in lovely grounds. »

stayed for one night with other family members - had 3 rooms booked. Grounds when driving into hotel are pretty. Check in was quick and staff friendly. (Take all the flyers off the reception door and Windows) Room was a good size and clean - decoration a bit dated in the rooms and hallways (name plate on our door was a painting of a pigeon). Some joker had set the radio alarm to go off at 12.30 and 1.30am ha ha!!! which obviously disturbed our sleep but sorted when I unplugged the alarm however we were then woken again by guest below's Tv at 6.30am - not the hotels fault but we didn't get the best nights sleep. We ate a light meal in the bar and the food was good and reasonably priced, bar man was friendly and helpful. Great pub directly opposite with good beer/ale/cider. Basic hotel but not expensive so we got what we paid for.

This really has to be one of the very best stays that I have had while working away from home . Everything was outstanding. My room was modern , clean and very much up to date. You really should stay here.

    « Meal with family »

I recently visited this hotel as I had family staying there, we went to meet them for a meal which was not very nice (my salad tasted of soap and my sister ordered fish it came with uncooked potatoes and no veg) the service has gone down since Best Western took over I would not recommend this place to anyone until they employ more staff, the wait for the meal was to long.

    5
« Warm and friendly hotel »

The hotel is situated on a golf course with beautiful grounds and is the perfect venue for weddings, parties and formal events. We arrived to a warm welcome from Reception. Our room was well presented with a triple settee on which to relax. Everywhere was immaculately clean. All the staff were helpful, suggesting places to visit during our short visit. The Trough of Bowland, Pendle Hill, Lancaster, Morecombe and several stately homes. Breakfast was plentiful - fruit, cereal, juices, yoghurt, pastries and of course full English with toast and marmalade/jam. Thick cut bacon, fresh eggs, tasty sausages and champion black pudding. What more could you want? The bar snacks were good, especially the pie. So good to see 'real' pie, i.e. proper pastry and tasty filling, not a 'stew with a puff pastry lid'!The Bar serves a nice pint of Thwaites. The wi-if is painfully slow, measured at 0.43 Mbps. Free but frustratingly slow. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff and we felt part of the family by the time we left. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We would come here again if we were in the area.

« Not the Best, western! »

First impressions driving up were good. Nice grounds with a pretty swing and bridge. Ideal for wedding pictures. However out visit soon went down hill. We arrived early and we're informed our room was ready, great!! Sadly on entering the room it was pretty apparent the room wasn't fit for purpose. > Room 223, wasn't ready and had additional furniture items in the room and a quilt piled up with stripped bedding. I Informed staff who were very odd about it, and looked at me like I had three heads. Luckily I did tell them as otherwise we would of returned in the evening to the same sight. The room had clearly not been used since this refurb and wouldn't have been touched in our absence as they thought it was ready to use. Slightly worrying as it makes you wonder what housekeeping do each day. I had to make a couple of uneccessary trips to reception only to be told we weren't being moved and to go back to the room and leave our belongings in the corridor. A public area? Hmm no thanks. And that housekeeping would clean the room. The girls attitude wasn't the greatest, it seemed like she was very put out by the situation and there was some huffing, she left me standing at reception as she walked off towards the room. I asked if I ought to follow and she said if you want. The customer service was poor, she did apologise later on but only after when we went to reception again waiting for our taxi. > in the evening, when we got back to the room it had been straighted up however there were malteaser chocolates all over the floor at the side of the bed and milk cartons. Clearly housekeeping couldn't have cleaned it as they were in plain sight. There is also a really odd surgical stench in the corridor and bedrooms which wasn't nice. > Check out was another shambles, no one at reception when we left to pack the car, the entire place was eerily quiet with no atmosphere, staff or customers. Really Odd. When we got in a girl was on the desk, no conversation, no how was your stay. By this point I'd given up so I just gave the key in and went to leave before she said hang on, there's something on your room. I said there wasn't and it was fully pre paid to which she said it wasn't and as I didn't have a receipt on me I had to pay. So on my credit card I paid, a very strange amount and not the price of the room. On the way home after checking my bank statement incase I had gone mad and hadn't pre paid, I spent 35 minutes on the phone to travel republic who confirmed it had all been pre paid and that they would get in touch with the hotel to rectify. I was glad of this as I didn't envisage it being an easy task as they were so strange during our stay. TR called back to say the girl was confused and had charged me the supplier cost which she shouldnt have done. There is an obvious training need required for the staff, they just aren't professional or customer focused which is a shame as I'm sure they are nice people, they just don't look cut out or trained to run a hotel or capable of guest interaction.

« Working in the area »

My hotels get booked through the company I work for, therefore I don't get a lot of choice about where I stay. This hotel is great. Food is excellent, staff are polite and courteous and the room is extremely spacious ( 258). The only noise I found which wasn't disturbing was the farm animals early in the morning. The rooms are cleaned daily. Whilst other reviews have mentioned issues like odd smells, I can honestly say every area of the hotel I have been in smells fresh and looks very clean. I would highly recommend staying here and will advise my company to place me here again should I be working in the area again.

« Nice hotel but poor room »

We stayed at the Best Western after attending a wedding nearby. The hotel itself was very nice; lovely grounds and staff that were also extremely pleasant and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was also nicely done with a great selection to choose from with the buffet. However, the room we had (112) was something of a let down. Whilst nicely presented and clean, the bathroom was pretty shabby and the shower head was completely covered in mould. The bed was also particularly uncomfortable as the mattress / frame were very noisy and had sheets that only just covered about half the bed. We were also unable to open the twin doors to let any air in, so after a shower the room became uncomfortably hot with no way to cool it down. Finally, the room seemed to amplify any noise from above or the stairs close by as we heard everything from the room above us whilst it was also opposite a conference room which was booked early in the morning. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep or were able to relax during our (short) stay. I'm sure generally staying here is a very nice experience, but if you get offered this particular room, ask for something else!

« Great hospitality and delicious family meal »

We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious stone cooked dinner - a lovely welcoming atmosphere and fabulous food. Every member of our party was very well looked after and the desserts were wonderful - particularly 'Childhood Delight', complete with candy floss! Thank you.

    « Nothing Special »

This was an odd hotel. Room 236 just for one night. Room and corridor smelt like a hospital. Bathroom was brand new and lovely but with an inexplicable bright purple LED in the ceiling which I could not turn off (see photo), this was too bright to sleep with the bathroom door open. The room next door had extremely noisy taps which vibrated through my room. The WiFi reception barely worked in the room and if you are an O2 mobile phone customer you'll barely get a reception there. The restaurant food was good. Stay was spoiled by rowdy elderly Gents getting drunk in the restaurant and bar and the rooms suffer noise intrusion from adjacent rooms. Buffett breakfast food was cool (as in temp!)

Just back from a really excellent weekend at this hotel ! 18 girls golfing and enjoying excellent food and company. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff for anything you asked for ! Had Emma mithered to death on Reception , she just kept smiling and never made you feel you were a nuisance ( I was) !! Barry in the Pro Shop went out of his way to accommodate us and change our tee times to enable us to have a more leisurely breakfast. All in all a fantastic stay , and the rain kept off !!! Thanks Cathy

« Excellent Hotel. Even better if you play golf!! »

    All the staff I came into contact with gave me an exceptionally high standard of customer service. If I am staying in this area again, I will definitely use this hotel. The hotel has a very quiet location, well off the main road.;

Stayed here for business trip. Food was good although there was not a lot of veggie options for one member of our party and the hotels computer was not working. There were newly refurbished rooms that two members of my party did get however i did not . All in all not a bad stay.

« My views on mytton fold hotel »

Stayed at this venue following a wedding and evening reception the room was a good standard and very clean. there were tea and coffee making facilities there to.the meal that was served for the wedding breakfast was prawn cocktail roast beef followed by profiteroles the meal was of a very good standard and served very quickly by an army of waiters and waitresses the ones that served us were polite and smiled all the time. The evening reception we were served with bacon and sausage sandwich's they were absolutely first class and wernt tight with the bacon 5 Rasher's on a tea cake 10 out of 10 the service we got was first class.breakfast was outstanding everything you could think of including the lovely bacon and sausage and as much tea and coffee as you could drink .we had a small problem with the room which we brought to management's attention and that was sorted very quickly . We then booked a Sunday lunch for 3 weeks following we had soup which was very nice and then we had lasagne which we felt just lacked a little in taste and cheese sauce .the millionaire toffee cake was very nice but lacked some cream or ice cream the meal was served with smiles and courtesy in a very relaxing atmosphere I still think that what we had was excellent value for the money to sum mytton fold hotel up the place is in a lovely area the staff from reception upto the manager are all very pleasant and easy to deal with 12 out of 10 for a lovely stay at mytton fold

Great family run hotel with that family run feel to it through its personable and friendly staff and its attention to detail. We thought it was excellent value, the dining was excellent, the rooms were great and the staff very attentive and helpful. As a location for exploring the local area walks it was ideal and the hotel staff also gave sound advice, maps etc to help with that. Definitely recommend it and we will use it again.

« Nice a quiet location with stunning views out on the golf course »

Stayed here and was very lucky with the weather. The accommodation was pleasant and the greeting was friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely and a decen choice of beers too at the bar. Nice court yard area in the middle.

« Still retains family run hotel atmosphere. »

We have stayed at this hotel when visiting relations nearby for the last 20 years or so and it has improved continuously over this time. You still feel like it is a family run hotel but with some of the extras which come from its being part of a large group now. The answer to just about every request is "no problem" and it never seems to be. The construction of the hotel does not lend itself to providing a very good wireless service in some of the rooms which are a distance from the main reception which can hamper internet and particularly streaming services. A lack of air conditioning can make it a little sticky on warm nights. Having the golf course on site and free to play after 4pm is a definite bonus. We would always check availabilty here if staying in the area.

    « Fold Restaurant »

Visited here to try the hot stone cooking experience. The staff were very pleasant and we were soon shown to our reserved table Two of us ordered the sirloin steak ,the other the tuna with scallops and prawns. All were good and the cook it youself on the hot stone different. The side plate to put your cooked food on was too small as was the table, you were struggling to find room for everything until the stones were taken away. Vegetables were extra and portions small ,you would have expected veg to be included at this price. Having tried the "hot stone" I think I would prefer to have my food cooked by the chef not DIY .

Stayed for a second time, its a charming location at a golf course. The staff are top notch, the rooms are charmingly named after different birds. The bar is well stocked and open all night! Breakfast was good but not with as much choice as I remember from my last visit. Would stay again.

« Convenient place to stay to attend a local wedding »

Very impressed with the whole experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. The setting was beautiful and well maintained. The room was very good for three adults. Appeared new in every respect. Excellent breakfasts but the great surprise was the evening meal in the restaurant. Fine dining to say the least. An excellent dinner at a reasonable cost. You would have to travel a long way to get a meal as good. All the staff were extremely friendly and very attentive. Would certainly recommend this hotel to all friends and family.

    « Our daughter's wedding, Friday 27th May 2016. »

We had a wonderful day/ evening at this venue. After nearly 2 years of planning the day couldn't of gone any better. The staff were exceptional whilst keeping a low profile. The directors were "hands on" and the way things ran so smoothly was a credit to them. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was friendly and approachable. The wedding breakfast was delicious, hot, plentiful and the beef so tender. The evening food was fab too. Well done to the chefs and catering staff. It was a lovely day and the grounds are beautiful and great for photographs. Our room was large and very clean. What a perfect day, keep doing what you are all doing and Thank you so much.

We arrived early and we given a really friendly welcome and we were allowed into our room early. It was an excellent room and a quiet location. In the morning the breakfast was excellent. We especially recommend the clementine marmalade which you also buy at the hotel reception. We will return if we are the area again.

    « Nice enough stay »

Good food, pleasant staff, bed linen, pillows and towels need renewed. Breakfast very nice and served with a smile. Location perfect, very quiet. Stayed before on the ground floor, creaking floorboards from above when walked on so I recommend a room on the upper floor

    « Golfing weekend »

Just returned from a two night stop at the resort and played three rounds of golf. The Hotel is easy to find and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The bar was welcoming and the restaurant provided some good quality food. Breakfast was fresh and continually replenished. The golf course although not long is extremely challenging and a test for anyone. It is very hilly so a buggy or electric trolley is essential. Luckily is was not windy or it would have been an even bigger challenge. Not the best course you will play but as a package good value for money.

« Lovely new restaurant 'The Fold' »

What a lovely evening at the Fold Restaurant. Relaxing, friendly service, just as a Friday evening should be. The steaks here are to die for, cooked exactly as you like them because you cook them yourself! Served on a VERY hot stone you decide when it's ready to eat. Best thing is, it stays HOT until the very end. What a fantastic idea! Go with your mates. Enjoy a good steak, good company and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

« The Fold restaurant definitely worth a try. Awesome »

I've been to Mytton Fold many times, stayed in the hotel, enjoyed a wedding, partied at Christmas and had lunch in the bar. So it was only right that I tried the new restaurant The Fold. The husband and I had a lovely meal. I started with the goats cheese black pudding and beetroot, may sound like a strange combination but trust me very tasty, my hubby had the meatballs, both lovely starters. Just the right portion size. We then had the hot rocks steak. You get a needed bib (trust me it makes the experience ) to save your clothes from spitting from the steak cooking, I think some other restaurants could learn from this. Cooking for yourself was perfect for us. The steak stays hot no matter how quick or slow you eat. The option of a sauce, we stayed plan on this occasion and choice of dips along with either chips, new potatoes, jacket potatoes or salad. Hubby had the chips I had the new potatoes. There were additional options of sides but neither of us opted for this although I wished I had ordered a salad after. We did have the garlic bread though which was tasty. For dessert the hubby had the childhood memories, a selection of all the good stuff from being a kid! Ice cream, candy floss popping candy mini doughnuts and hot chocolate sauce. I had a liquid dessert in the form of a liquor coffee. The restaurant itself has been nicely done. The lighting could be a little softer, for a more intimate feel which we commented on whilst there, but this didn't spoil the evening. An lovely evening with awesome food.

We went The Fold the newly named restaurant here last night to try the HOT ROCKS selection on the menu , and we were not disappointed , I had the seafood selection which comprised of Tuna, scallops and King prawns served on a HOT ROCK so you can cook to your own liking, we got full instructions from the staff, Hubby chose the Steak and throughly enjoyed a lovely medium rare steak cooked again On the HOT ROCKS at our table, would we recommend to others , defiantly its well worth a visit ,the rest of the menu is beautiful with plenty of choice , The Fold is lovely good, food good service, defiantly a lot of updating gone on at The Fold , well worth a visit. « Golf Trip »

14 of us arrived for our annual Scotland v England Competition . The welcome was warm and very helpful and the girls on reception did there best to allocate our rooms to sharing and non sharing. We dropped off luggage and proceeded to the course. The course is a test of golf , it's short but hilly with stunning views across the dales. It's not a championship course and doesn't claim to be but there is enough out there to trip up the lowest handicap. I personally found it good fun out there and although the greens had been treated and were slow its was still a good test. Back to the hotel for shower and food and a private dining area had been layed on for us. Food was superb and 3 courses for your money is very good value. The service in this place is fantastic and all the staff are friendly and very helpful. My opinion is that it's worth ago if you have a society that enjoys good golf , good food and good service. I couldn't fault it other than its looking a little tired in places and the carpets ( I am in the industry so noticed ) a little dated and worn. It's very good value for money ( too cheap really as I would have paid more) ... It is what it is and they claim nothing else other than a nice and friendly hotel to visit and on thats exactly what it is .

« A wonderful escape to the country »

If you want a lovely place to stay in the countryside then this is it. Mytton Fold is a lovely family run hotel friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. Food is good especially the breakfast. Rooms are lovely but most importantly very clean, warm at a touch of a button. You can play golf or go for lovely walks but don't come if you want loud music and people because it's not there. I would like to thank you all for helping to make eight oldies enjoy themselves and by the way Barbara have taken the shower cap (good for proving my bread) . Will be back.x

« Lovely surroundings...a couple of small points »

Beautiful surroundings, great countryside views and lovely setting. Friendly service too. The rooms are ok. Ours was quite small however, check if you need more space. Staff were attentive and very nice. Breakfast, on the whole, is good. Except the sausages, which were really disappointing. Watch out too for the surcharge if you order from the smoked salmon/kipper selection...it's not obviously noted for your attention! Otherwise a decent place to stay.

    « ok »

Lovely staff lovely room. I booked through the hotel £299 for two nights bed and breakfast for 2 adults one child I believe overpriced. Breakfast average the menu boasts using local food produce naming the butchers yet it was obvious to see and taste that the sausage were cheap and from the freezer. Must let my little grumbles take away the pleasant hospitality if you can get it cheaper a lot cheaper go for it

« Okay, but somehow lacking a little character »

We stayed at this hotel after we stayed at The Higher Trapp nearby because it was full. It was a dreadful day, cold and wet. The hotel itself is different, a long line of what looks like old 2 storey stone cottages connected together. The reception along with other parts are in conservatories. The main selling point appears to be their 18 hole golf course and a big converted barn for weddings. Check in was okay but not as friendly as The Higher Trapp nearby. The room itself, similar to other 3 star hotels in the area, good bed, TV, room and fittings and a good nights sleep was had. Overall, was okay but maybe cause of the weather, maybe not, but seemed to lack a bit of character and maybe more suited to business people. I would probably stay at the Higher Trapp if I was in the area.

    « Lots of appeal »

On a business trip en route to Preston, well situated for that, amidst great countryside and with a golf course ! So on paper ticked lots of boxes for me. Very friendly informative receptionists and first impressions good. Room 154 located along mini labyrinth of corridors (which have curiously strategically placed ironing boards on the walls) and looked out towards the gardens/reception. A notice of wet paint in the bathroom indicated some recent refurbishment. Got to say well done to the cleaners as the room was spotless. As the room lighting is a bit dingy it didn't do justice to the room which is very comfortable with a big wall mounted TV - looks better in daylight. Not sure about the bathroom floor covering which reminded me of being on a ship. Such an effort had been made with the other fixtures and fittings that a tiled floor would look much better but hey that's my opinion....popped into the pro shop to enquire about a few holes early the following morning prior to leaving for work and the gentleman therein couldn't have been more helpful.....unfortunately I wasn't able to make it but hopefully next time. I opted for eating in the bar lounge to watch the football. Excellent pint of Thwaites Bitter served by friendly barman. Ordered homemade chicken pie which arrived after the end of the first half......that's 45 mins....and didn't seem to be that busy.....it was tasty and lots of it but sadly a bit anaemic with floppy oven chips and a warmed up limp pastry pie which did have a delicious filling. Anyway, I did like the bar which has a golfers theme and cosy atmosphere. Breakfast dining room has a nice touch with your name displayed on the table on a piece of folded A4 paper......found mine by chance so some information about that when checking in would be useful. Good friendly waiter who served me with poached eggs and apologised for the wait but it was actually served up very quickly......perhaps he should do the evening shift.....overall it's easy to see that The Mytton Fold has a real feel good factor and I hope to stay here again.

    « 2nd Visit »

Our 2nd visit to Mytton fold and if anything even better than our first. Reception staff are amazing and the room and public places spotlessly clean. Night Porter was really friendly and helpfull. Superb breakfast even though they have changed it to buffet style. We were overcharged by a local taxi company and the Receptionist got on the phone to them and got us a refund, This hotel is amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a break in the Ribble valley

We celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary yesterday at Mytton Fold. The ribble suite was perfect for the 40 people, who all say, they had a wonderful time. The room was dressed beautifully thanks to Kevin and his girls from Happy Days. The food was delicious and served perfectly by Tony and his team. Darren was there to give advice and made sure everything went smoothly. A few of my guests have said that they will certainly be looking at Mytton Fold for their special events. Once again thank you for helping to make our day very special

« Reasonable value for money »

I stayed here for 1 night. Due to a lady minute booking I ended up with a family room which was big but the room with 2 beds was tired looking. A train line runs at the back of the hotel so there was noise from passing trains late at night which then started again around 6am. The water pressure on the shower was really poor. The bathroom had a sign saying the boiler was a distance away so you'd need to run the hot water for a while. It took in excess of 5 minutes of running the water for it to be warm enough for a shower. The hotel bar is cheap compared to most.

Stayed here for one night with friends, warm friendly hotel and staff but hotel bit out of date and could do with being updated. The rooms were clean but could have done with more lighting as it was very dark when using the dressing table mirror and couldn't put make up on as it was dark. The grounds are lovely and well kept and also very popular with weddings. Breakfast was self service, lots of choice so can't complain. Convenient for us as we were going to Northcote. Would stay here again.

    « Lovely Wedding »

Stayed at Mytton Fold Hotel for our wedding. The groom's party arrived in good time + had lunch in the bar whilst a room was prepared (so we could change) We struggled to get this room. In fact the bridal suite was offered to my parents who are in their late 70s! We got into a room 15 minutes before guests were due to arrive - some guests got their rooms well before us - not good for the nerves. The rooms we used were well prepared and really clean. The layout was perfect. The reception and wedding breakfast were superb. The staff were polite and attentive. The night finished at 01:00 but a few die hards moved to the residents bar for a night cap. Again the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was self service - as much as you wanted. All excellent. Although a tad early finish at 09:30 (for us die hards) but understandable as there was another wedding that evening and guests need to be out by 11:00. The walk from our room at the rear of the hotel was difficult when moving al our gifts to the car at the front - especially in the rain. I wasn't informed if there was parking any closer. Another point is that there is no covered walkway from the hotel reception/rooms to the Abbey Suite, so we got a bit of a drenching in the persistent rain when moving about. All in all a very good event from which I have had no negative comments. Thankyou

« Amazing staff and lovely room »

We were staying at Mytton Fold over the summer for ten weeks during an insurance job at our home. It was a stressful time but we could not have felt more looked after. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made us feel right at home, the service was impeccable and the room was lovely. We mostly had the same room throughout our long stay except for odd days when the hotel had already been booked up for weddings etc, and it was always clean and comfortable. We ate in the bar fairly regularly and the food was lovely too. Would definitely recommend!

    « Little sleep »

Stayed last night after family wedding. Lovely place in lovely setting. Perfect place for a wedding. Arrived quite early, and although it says rooms arent ready until after 2pm, we asked and were surprised to find one of the two rooms we had booked, was already available. Which was great, it meant we could put our stuff in one of the rooms until later and forget about it. We were even given an upgrade. Went to room with luggage and found the room to be very pleasant. There was a modern 4 poster and the room seemed like it had been recently re decorated, tiled etc. There was a slightly odd chemical/plastic smell in room, which could have been coming from the new looking shower curtain. We were told the other room we had booked would be next door to this one, but that turned out not to be true. Think that went to someone else. Our other room as about 14 doors away. Our room was ok, very average. My one and only issue was the bed. It was very small and the mattress was the most uncomfortable one i think i have ever slept on. You could feel the springs through the mattress top and each time i turned over they dug in me. Had the most horrendous nights sleep because of it. Would stay here again, but next time, " can we have the upgraded room please"?

Very good accommodation: welcoming staff and food very good. Position of the hotel is most attractive and accessible from the M6 and for touring the Ribble Valley. The internal layout of the hotel makes for privacy when required and there are plenty of corners to sit in and relax. The roaring log fire in the lounge makes for a cosy atmosphere when coming in on a dark and damp winter evening.

Very helpful staff and ALWAYS friendly and welcoming. Hotel is nice and quiet, rooms are very clean and the food is very good too. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Would like to see Sky TV in rooms, but probably being demanding here!

« Very adequate budget accommodation..... »

Stayed here for a night recently. Pleasant reception, everything courteously explained. Agreeable room (113) very clean and satisfactorily appointed. Wi-fi did not seem to be at sufficient strength to watch iPlayer in room but that is a minor quibble. Bar area perfectly adequate. Breakfast well arranged - reasonably wide choice, nice fried eggs and bacon. Pleasant and helpful staff.

Looks lovely from the outside with a golf course... Not sure how good as golf it's not for me... Check in was easy, allocated room 110 on ground floor, which is a twin with facilities for a person with disabilities.. But for an abled bodied person it just doesn't hit the mark at everything is set at a low level, for example full length mirror only went to my chest... Saved me looking at my face!! I was only there for one night so I decided to put up with it.. Downside I booked a double without additional disabilities facilities... Room was clean but smelt like a elderly nursing home... I slept on top of the bed as not sure where smell was coming from... To get in the room you need 2 hands as it has 2 locks a Yale and mortises and the lock turned in the opposite direction, but good for a person with disabilities.. Basic tea/coffee making facilities with the usual 4 milk, sugar but had step hot chocolate bonus!! Downside water left in kettle, not sure how long it had been sat there... Bathroom again looked clean had walk in shower with adaptions... But again smelt like Grannys knickers!! Dined in the bar restaurant, average price is £5 starter, £15 main, £5 dessert, not a huge menu but catered for all.. Beautiful open fire and casual dining arrangement.. Downside, ordered food, it was on the small side, over cooked rubbery chicken, and trio of chocolate deserts were stale??.. Bonus was the customer service, they listen and the bar tender was very attentive and apologetic, informed me who to talked to and got money back with no quibble.. Breakfast was nice but could be improved by using fresh mushrooms and cooked to order.. Plenty of fresh fruit and juices to choose from. downside had to wait 10mins to be seated, to be fair there were only 2 members of staff on running round like headless chickens.. Good morning note on table with your name full name on, not good for a female travelling on her own.. It's a red beacon saying lonely female.. Would I stop here again, not by choice... As my school report said 'could do better'

    « Fantastic! »

First impressions were the gardens and the snow everywhere. Once inside it was so warm and the log fire crackling away. Immediately there was a sense of the staff couldn,t do enough even down to supplying grit under one of the cars. The rooms looked quite new and were spotless and warm. Water was red hot with a cracking shower over the bath. We were there for our sons wedding and the room was decorated beautifully. Its interesting that the simple things were done quite simply, no hassle. If I wanted to find a fault it would be difficult, ok there was only one Sunday paper in reception but on saying that there is a service there for supplying newspapers to your room, The staff made up for everything, always smiling. I would recommend this place to anyone whether an overnight stay or hire as a wedding venue.

This venue was decorated beautifully for the wedding we attended . Staff was polite and service was good . Drink prices reasonable considering it is a wedding venue . Lovely place for a celebration . Large car park and grounds . We didn't stay so can not comment on rooms . Evening buffet was served promptly and was hot and tasty .

« Pleasant venue but room for improvement »

We stayed at the hotel on a Saturday night to attend a private party at the hotel. The hotel worked well as a venue for a party and the staff provided good service. There was a wedding reception going on at the hotel at the same time, but that didn't seem to have any effect on our party. We stayed in a standard double room as this was all that was available when we booked. Our room 151 was clean and adequate but nothing special and there is quite a lot of noise in the room from creaking floorboards when people use the adjacent staircase. We were disappointed to find out on entering the dining room at 10.15am that breakfast is only served until 9.30am at a weekends (there is a leaflet inside the guest information folder that explains this). The lady in the dining room did offer to get us a bacon sandwich in the bar, but we didn't want that. On checking out, we expressed our surprise at the breakfast timing to the receptionist who again offered us a bacon sandwich in the bar and thanked us for our comments and said that she would pass them on, she also explained that the reason breakfast finishes so early is that wedding guests often start to arrive mid-morning. Another member of staff then became involved and was a little off-hand when I commented that most other hotels serve breakfast until later than 9.30 at weekends. Whilst our stay was generally OK, my wife and I came away with the feeling that the hotel didn't really want to hear our feedback and that the timing of breakfast was to suit the hotel rather than its customers.

We visited here after being flooded out at home, the staff was fantastic nothing to much trouble for them. Nice to sit by the fire and feel the local spirit. We will be back for another visit. Thank you for making us feel so welcome

A nice hotel to stay at, the staff are wonderful, I liked the room as it was nice and clean, I liked the breakfast cause I 'am not a heavy eater & got what I ordered without any hesitation. Karl the Manger advised me on something on the menu and that was nice cause he knew that his recommendation would suit me. Thank you,

    « Very Pleasant Stay »

I stayed here weekly for almost 5 months on business and really can't fault it in any way. The staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and friendly and the rooms (of which I must have been in almost all different types) were large and comfortable, with varying layouts. The food was reasonably priced with a large choice ranging from filling bar snack-type food to more elaborate offerings and was available in the two comfortable lounge bars or a more formal restaurant setting. The bedrooms also have usb tvs, which still isn't so common nowadays, and means you can bring your own films with you. I did find wifi and phone coverage a bit patchy in the older part, but had no problems in the front facing rooms in the new wing. Definitely a very pleasant place to stay.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

After trying without success to book a suitable venue for a family celebration we booked a table at the party night. We were slightly apprehensive due to be aware of the challenges of mass catering and that some hotel party nights are a bit cheesy!. We had a great night, good food and service for the price we paid . Nice area and staff friendly and well organised . We all really enjoyed the evening and planning on returning for an overnight stay in the future. Although there was still a bit of Christmas party cheese but it was well received and added to the fun .

We really enjoyed the Christmas party and our overnight stay was thoroughly enjoyable. There was a fun party atmosphere (lots of dancing) and the dj's choices for the disco were spot on, great food and a beautiful room. Fabulous scenery all around too

    « Delightful surprise »

I just stayed here one night but have to say it was very comfortable. I arrived late and the kitchen served up a really excellent meal of chicken wrapped in Parma ham. This was one of the nicest dishes I've experienced at a hotel for some time. I wish I'd have been able to stay longer to try out more of the menu. The very helpful receptionist took the trouble to show me to my room, staff are welcoming and ready to help, a real bonus. My room was comfortable, clean and sufficiently spacious for a couple. Breakfast was also very good, I just had cereal and two poached eggs, cooked just perfectly and as much toast as you'd want. They also have a low sugar marmalade, a real plus as I'm diabetic. A highly recommended hotel and restaurant, I doubt if you will be disappointed.

Normally we stay somewhere else when we visit the area. However, what a pleasant surprise? Wonderfully, friendly welcome to the hotel. Spotlessly clean room that was modern & comfortable. Very impressed with the bathroom cleanliness too. No grotty muck on the tiles. Breakfast was excellent & our evening meal. All the staff were welcoming & helpful. We be staying again in the Spring hopefully.

Stayed yesterday evening following coach trip to Manchester on route to Skipton Christmas markets. The staff were very friendly, the weather was torrential but we were soon checked into our room, no waiting around. Room was lovely, could not complain. The bathroom looked like it was brand new. The mattress was a bit soft for me with a bad back. Good selection for our set menu, the braised beef was beautiful. Breakfast very good especially the bury black pudding. Would have liked to have seen more of the hotel and grounds in day light hours, but Christmas market called. Thank you.

« An insight to Mytton fold »

Very poor food. The hotel is dated, the staff are treated terribly by the owners. No health and safety measures are taken throughout which has led to several members of staff receiving serious injuries. Staff are expected to work 10+ hours without a break. The owners fail to take responsibility for there actions and are now under investigation from several statutory agencies. Please bare this in mind before funding such a terrible establishment.

« 2 nights stay at this hotel. »

What a pleasant hotel, rooms lovely and the staff were so nice. I do have a slightly negative comments and that would be the pressure in the shower. Barely a trickle on my last day. Reception told me that it happens a lot if people are showering the same time. But besides that it was a really nice place and the food was faultless.

Arrived Friday 13th but didn't prove to be unlucky! The rain poured, the wind howled but we had a great weekend. Roaring log fire in the bar, great staff, great food and a power shower that really is powerful! Stay here, everyone should be lucky enough to eat a Mytton Fold breakfast.

« Brilliant stay!! Go the extra mile!! ?????? »

Stayed here at a wedding today (15/11/2015), brilliant wedding!!!! Up until 1am and no takeaways open, Emma and Christian stayed late to make us toast and a glass of milk!! Upgraded our room (can't remember the girls name, but she was brilliant!!), as our room wasn't ready (The bride had been in there the night before!! No hotel fault!!)... So happy with the hotel, wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast, night do and after party (including toast&milk!!!!). Astounded by the customer service and their willing to go the extra mile!!! Hats off to you all. Can't wait for breakfast in the morning!!! Thank you xxxxxxx

    « Very nice stay »

I stayed here whilst working in Blackburn. Upon arrival I was able to find plenty of space to park. The welcome was very friendly and the room was of average size, clean and in very good order. The hotel was very quiet so I was able to have a good nights sleep. The breakfast was first class.

« Mold in the bathroom and noisy people in the bar. But a big TV »

I travel to the Blackburn area often on business so thought I would try the Best Western at Mytton Fold. It was reasonably priced and a best western so should be good. How wrong was I. I think the room was last renovated in 1987 or 1988. Not that an old room can't be nice but this one was tired and was what I would have expected in a £15/night B&B. Not a Best Western.. The bulding is quite extensive and the rooms seem to be set above different parts of the bar/ function rooms. I was pleased to share the experiences of 3 drunk women in whatever room was below mine. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite make out what they were saying so I couldn't even enjoy some gossip. The bathroom was, again, old. I'm not sure how long the black mold on the ceiling had been there but the bath sweet had definitely been there a while. The only plus to the room was the 40" LCD TV. Which was nice but didn;t really make up for the rooms other failings.

« Average hotel but noisy - little sleep! »

I always ask for a QUIET room - we discovered that this was NOT. This average room overlooked the front of the hotel which stands in its own grounds a couple of miles from the nearest town. The hotel was full with a few groups including guests for a wedding taking place the next day. The problems started after midnight with the creaking floorboards, banging doors (badly adjusted? / maintained closers?) & guests speaking loudly on the way to their rooms. Power showers were turned on somewhere at 3am & the noise resonated through the building. Yes you are always at the mercy of the other guests but for a quiet room this was not acceptable. At breakfast, we spoke with other guests who also had little sleep. Dinner & breakfast were good. The staff were all helpful & respectful in doing their jobs. No compensation was offered at checkout even when I mentioned Premier Inns guaranteed night's sleep or no charge. We will NOT stay at a Best Western again

    « Fantastic hotel »

Stayed twice this year April & October. Lovely clean rooms, great food. Amazing friendly staff nothing is to much trouble. Very well organised as there were 19 of us with four children with disabilities, 3 of them on the ketogenic diet, they had everything covered. Felt so welcome, lovely atmosphere! Will definitely go back! And the cocktails are a must !!!

    « Wedding Reception »

We went to a lovely wedding evening reception, and overall the venue is ideal. The setting is stunning, the building itself is clean and well presented and there are a good selection of drinks available at the bar. Clearly our hosts, the newlyweds, had opted for the 'trendy' bacon and sausage butty option for supper and this was presented and served well however the cheapest breadcakes, sausages and multi-pack bacon (which you can buy at Asda etc) was disappointing being that we were in a quality hotel and golf centre. Tasteless in every way Best Western! I would have expected a decent quality bread roll, maybe a locally produced sausage or two, with good quality bacon rashers. The evening was lovely though, and the happy couple enjoyed a lovely wedding day.

    « Very peaceful setting »

My fiancé and I having flown over from the USA to arrange mums funeral etc., in August were met by the most attentive and friendly staff. They were very attentive during our 10 day stay which proved to be a very difficult time. The hotel itself is set in lovely tranquil grounds next to the golf course and although there were two wedding receptions during out stay, it didn't impinged on the hotel guests in any way. I would add that it is a beautiful setting for a wedding. The room was clean and adequate for our needs, very comfy bed and very quiet at night. We ate mostly in the bar and found the food good and the prices fair. All in all a big thank you to the staff who are a credit to Best Western and hopefully appreciated by them.

What a super Hotel - Brilliant, peaceful Hotel with superb staff & restaurant. Very tasty food for both Evening meal & Breakfast. Will definitely be going back here. Sadly, unable to play Golf ( at their own Course) since they closed the Front 9 on Sunday afternoons to play "Footgolf". Pity, really, since there didn't seem to be that many playing "Footgolf" - but what am I to know!! Minor irritation, more than made up for by the quality of the food & staff.

    « Coach visit »

I took a coach party to Mytton Fold Hotel. I had 38 passengers. On arrival the check in was simple with staff including the chef helping to get the cases in. By the time I had parked the coach up, the guests were all in their rooms. The menu for our first night was A Taste of Lancashire. This was superb and I recommend other guests to try this. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with a fabulous selection of cereals, fresh fruit , pastries as well as the usual eggs, bacon buffet style. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the service throughout this family run Hotel was fantastic. When asked, all my passengers said they would like to go back again. I have already provisionally booked a group in for next year. Jamie Fyfe Jamies Tours

I'll keep this shirt and sweet & not too long winded. I've stayed here twice on business now, first time was back in May 2015 & didn't have any issues really. Second time round however it was a different story. I stayed on the second floor & every time someone turned on the tap in their room it sounded like the boiler room was next door & was going to explode, but my main issue was the food. Both nights I stayed in my room and ordered room service, whilst this was prompt, the food was terrible. First night because I didn't arrive until late I just ordered the burger, one mouthful was enough. It was like something you would find in a greasy spoons cafe and the chips just tasted of oil. Second night, I ordered the korma and this arrived with very dry tough chicken and the chips were the same as the previous night. Room was very basic but clean and fairly comfortable. But overall in not a fan so will be staying elsewhere moving forward.

    « Wedding Visit »

I visited mytton fold a few weeks ago for a close friends wedding. I have travelled over 300 miles to attend the special day and all I can say is I'm very disappointed. The grounds of the hotel are pleasant as are the staff, however it goes down hill from hear on out. The food we received wouldn't be worthy of a school dinner. Basically their were 3 cheap cuts of meet ( chicken pork , and one other which I didn't dare try) slopped onto a plate with a 'peppercorn' sauce dribbled over. Their was no presentation or layout to the meals what so ever . Not only was the food rank but the portions were minuscule! And to top it all off the plates the food was served on would have looked dated in the 70s! After the meal their was music which was pretty good. However the bar on the premises was extremely overpriced! ( over £5 for a single Gin and Tonic). You could understand the prices if you were in a semi posh restaurant, but the fact of the matter is your paying through the nose to drink in a extremity grotty place. On our first and only visit to the bar we were confronted by a young lady, presumably the manager who was rude and obnoxious to both staff and her colleagues, we observed her for several minutes whilst we waited for service and in this short time she had barked at 2 of the staff members! Myself and my husband stayed over night in the hotel, from here on out our experience only worsened. As you can imagine we couldn't afford to get remotely drunk as a result of the extortionate prices, which was a real shame as this could have potentially disguised the repulsive smell lingering in the hotel corridors. It was a smell of damp mixed with ammonia, presumably from stale urine, not pleasant! The carpets in the hotel were dated as were the walls and the rooms would make one of the borrowers feel claustrophobic! The rooms are noisy and you can hear all the activity going on in the surrounding rooms, say no more! Ending on a positive note the drive out of the hotel grounds wasn't to bad! I will not be visiting this 'hotel' again!!

« Lovely hotel in very nice location »

Very welcoming reception and check in. Room was very nicely decorated, very clean and had everything I needed for a 2 night business stay. WIFI fast and easy. Lovely shower - plenty of hot water. Had bar meal both nights - tasty and reasonable. Breakfast was great - best selection I have seen in ages. Its nice that you have name on table. Try the clementine marmalade! Lovely staff. Only reason I haven't scored it a 5 is that it is noisy at night with doors banging but not a major issue.

    « NICE ROOM - PLEASANT STAFF »

I was a little disappointed at first when I say the exterior of the hotel and the corridor leading to my room looked a bit dated (more like a warren), but everything else about this hotel was most pleasing. The receptionist was most welcoming and brought me to my room door. The room itself was immaculately clean, modern and spacious. It didn't have a fiew - so what! I wasn't there for gazing out windows. Breakfast was good and the waitress was most friendly. But it is over-priced so I didn't stay for breakfast the second day. All in all, it was a pleasant visit and this is definitely a hotel I would use again.

The bar and lounge areas are cosy with rel fires on cold winter nights. Good varied bar menu, food very good. Name cards on tables at breakfast is a nice touch. Not used the golf course yet but fully intend to do so. The staff are friendly and efficient. Highly recommended

« Attractive Hotel in Pleasant Surroundings »

Arrived a little early, but welcomed by a friendly receptionist who made us feel welcome and re-arranged our room so we could freshen up straight away. Position of hotel was in pleasant surroundings adjacent to a golf club. Car parking for the hotel guests only was near reception. Room on the first floor was modern, clean and fresh. Rather low bed was comfortable though could hear passing people in corridor and going down the stairs at night. One of the rooms on the floor was being used as an office for the hotel. Large bathroom with bath as well as integral shower. A rail or hook for the bath towel would have been useful adjacent to the bath/shower, as the towels were on a radiator next to the wash basin on the opposite side of the large bathroom. Usual basic accoutrements were supplied. Free Wi-Fi had good connectivity in the room. No room lock box, though this was available at reception. Tea/Coffee making facilities available in the room, with fresh milk if requested. No fridge. A covered walkway to reception/breakfast from accommodation block would be useful when raining. Excellent choice for breakfast, with fruit, yoghurt and cereals, followed by a comprehensive cooked breakfast selection including legendary Black Pudding. Had a bar meal one evening, which was good if slightly overpriced, though the room was rather soulless. If in the area would stay here again.
